Hotel Gamla Stan, BW Signature Collection

Perfect location to see the sights of the Old Town. Delightfully presented decor and very welcoming staff. An upgrade in room gave us a clean, spacious and very comfortable stay with quality fittings. Hearty breakfast included meant we were well satiated for the day exploring.

I stayed here last year and loved it. This year I booked a larger room because my wife joined me. Good choice! The room was clean and overlooked Lake Malaran. It was a short walk to the ferry and local restaurants. Great location! The windows opened so you could let the breeze in. We had a couch and a stuffed chair. The bathroom was small. The breakfast buffet was amazing: : 8 types of fresh bread, eggs (scrambled, hard boiled, soft boiled), bacon, meatballs, sausage, potatoes, veggies, beans, thin Swedish pancakes (with lingonberry jam, maple syrup and whipped cream – decadent!) quiche, oatmeal, muesli, herring, liverwurst, cold cuts, cheeses, different kinds of fruit, salad stuff, jams, yogurt, fresh pasties, fresh fruit, etc. There was always tea, water, iced tea, coffee and cookies available in the lobby. The staff was very helpful. The only negative is that there are steps leading up to the entrance, and those are tough with luggage. All in all, I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

The hotel is clean and well kept. Users should note that there is no AC, and although it was not hot in stockholm, the room was uncomfortably warm for sleep. Also the bar across the street has VERY LOUD music late, very annoying

The hotel is really nice. The cheap price is combined with good service. The enployees are friendly and do their best to keep the place clean and calm. The hotel is well located in Gamla Stan with easy entry to the core of the Old town. Generally it is convenient to reach by bus.

Great location - great staff - fantastic room - super comfortable beds

I had booked 2 rooms for 4 nights at this hotel, but I missed the flight due to traffic caused by an accident on the way to the airport and had to cancel. Despite submitting the request immediately and explaining that there were no other flights available for the next two days, they refused to issue any refund or even a voucher to rebook for different dates. The airline, Norwegian, on the other hand, issued a refund without any issues. The hotel showed no sensitivity or understanding at all. Obviously, with two children with us, we had to find an alternative destination available by plane and booked it at the last minute!"

A very nice hotel. Centrally located at the edges of Old Town. A great location that works well for walking to the different parts of the city. A single room, small but cosy and newly renovated with all amenities you would need. Thankful to be able to open the window. Staff was very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was buffet style with many dishes to choose from. A very nice experience over all.

Room 712 is an attic style single bed. For the price charged I would expect a few upgrades to the room such as a queen sized bed (it will fit) and a shower curtain to avoid converting the toilet seat into a water spa. Location is fantastic and breakfast is also very nice.

This is like Ibrahimovic moment for us staying at Hotel Gamla Stan while spending 5 nights , a family of 3 adults here at Stockholm. The service was exceptional—warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The staff went above and beyond to make guests feel at home, offering local recommendations and ensuring every detail of the stay was comfortable. And the breakfast is one of those magic moments but happens everyday! What makes the hotel truly special is its location in the heart of Gamla Stan, Stockholm's medieval old town. Housed in a beautifully preserved historic building dating back to the 17th century, the hotel retains original murals and architectural details, creating an atmosphere where history comes alive. I would strongly recommend anyone to spend a couple of nights here.

I have never been in a hotel without room for clothes. There was not a eardrobe or even a drawer. Only a couple of hangers were avaible. It is a shame!!

Very well located. Very nice employees. What a decoration ! “Art deco” You can rest and enjoy a coffee/tea + cookie or fruit anytime of the day in a cosy lobby. The room is clean and comfortable. Breakfast is royal 😋

Excellent location in the heart of the city. Great for the active people (jogging, biking) and for more leisure people (just walking or enjoying a glass of something) after a busy day. Very comfortable bed The only minus for the hotel: in the shower the wall is too narrow and thus the floor becomes wet you wish it or not. Also, a lot of stairs might be an issue for persons with disabilities

Perfect stay! Shower is great, room is small but, honestly, I wasn't planning on staying a lot of time inside, so it was more than enough! The breakfast is amazing and the staff are very welcoming. Check-in and check-out were very fast, as well. Its location is VERY GOOD!

He mmediately dropped me a wall plug with USB-C to my room after I sent an email to info from hotel Gamla Stan website when I found no Swedish wall plug since I'm from US. He is also very nice to listen to my 4 years old granddaughter about her imagination: monsters in her hotel room several times during our 3 night stays. We have such good stays at Hotel Galma Stan BW.

I was greatly surprised at their reception and the fact that they spoke behind my back. This has never happened to me at a hotel. I had great sleep here but would avoid this place at. It was shameful and I feel disrespected and saddened as a customer at this hotel.

Cosy hotel at the heart of the capital with the Royal castle in the neighbourhood. The complementary coffee and snacks in the lobby was a well appreciated feature after a long day in the city.

Had a sea view room, great view, my photo doesn't make it justice. My particular room was quite large for Stockholm standards. Very friendly and helpful person at check-in. Great breakfast, food tasted fresh even close to the closing. Internet worked. A little bit of the walk to the tunnelbana. So with luggage, better to take a short Uber from the central station.

We rented two rooms at the Hotel Gamla Stan in Stockholm for 2 nights. This is such a unique hotel. Feels like a maze inside with rooms with lots of character. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms were clean. The breakfast was very good with a lot to choose from. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The location was fantastic with everything in walking distance. Really enjoyed our stay here.

Lovely hotel with friendly staff. Breakfast was fantastic with so much to choose from. Only down side for us was our room (507) it was very small and not well planned. No plugs near the mirror, kettle had to be placed on the floor to be used as lead not long enough to reach the desk so thought this was a bit dangerous. Our bed was pushed up against one wall making the room feel very small. There's quite a bit of road noise but it wasn't too bad. On the plus side the bed was comfy even if very small (UK queen size beds are much bigger - this was about the size of a uk double.). Bathroom was very nice and shower was good and hot. I would return although would get a bigger room.

The hotel is very well situated close to the old city and transport links. Our room was comfortable, staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was outstanding. All in all a very pleasant stay

Let me say up front, the only thing I didn't like was the shower - one of those with no enclosure. I can't imagine why any architect thinks they are a good idea. They're not. That said, this is one of the nicest hotels I've stayed at in over 40 years of travel. Super accommodating staff, excellent breakfast (including outstanding vegan options), tip top housekeeping. We had to check out at 4am to make our flight so the hotel prepared a bagged breakfast. Great location. I would happily stay here again.

Located in old town, just steps from the palace, add to the pluses for this charming hotel. Coffee tea and treats in the lobby from 8am to 8 pm and a delicious breakfast - with lots of options for gluten free and other dietary restrictions, make this an ideal place to stay. While rooms are not huge, they are nicely appointed and the friendly staff are always there to answer questions and offer suggestions to enhance your time in Stockholm.

DONT DONT DONT, waste your money here. I paid d Euro 233 , 100 meters more is the beautiful HILTON , and the room was E 175.The rooms in Gamla Stan are dirty SMALL BOXES. The heat doesn't work the windows are old and leaked cold air in the room ( outside 2 C),Called the reception and they said nothing can't do, beside bringing one more blanket. The bathroom and the shower SO SO DIRTY AND SMALL CANT EVEN MOVE AROUND. In check out I explained the receptionist and his answer was as hi was playing in his cell' eh well one night not a big deal' I asked for a manager he said the Antonio Manager doesn't work weekends, so nothing I can do.SO PLEASE DONT SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE , again their is a HILTON MUCH MUCH BETTER AND CHEAPER in the corner.

The staff were helpful and friendly. They looked after our bags most the day so we did not have to trail them around Stockholm while we did some sightseeing. The bed was comfortable and the room very clean. We also had a nice view from our front window.

A 4 star rating of Hotel Gamla Stan is an extreme stretch of the imagination. Stayed for 3 nights at Room 105. The room was severely outdated, with musty carpet and dusty drapes. Didn't know if we're going to be more worried about security or privacy; the room had a surprise door to the alley, and the curtains we could not draw unless we wanted to be seen front and center from the outside. On safety, all doors have no additional locks, nor was there any safe for our belongings. Would not have been a surprise if our things got stolen and removed from the property altogether! Forget about ventilation as well, as opening the windows will open up your room to everything the streets have to offer - chatter from pedestrians, late night drunks and traffic noises. The mere good thing about the hotel is its location, right smack in the middle of Gamla Stan. But don't be driven to book this hotel because of this, there are definitely better ones within a 5 min walk.

The hotel was nice, but not what I expected for the price. The breakfast was very good and varied. The bathroom was a disappointment. The shower did not have an enclosure or base. Water wetted the entire bathroom floor during showers.

My title says it all. I will add that the breakfast is very nice, a fabulous way to start the day. Has a small issue with a window blind in the room and it was taken care of within the hour.

This is a fantastic hotel at an unbeatable location! The rooms are spotless, the buffet breakfast is AMAZING, the staff is courteous and most importantly the location is great! Highly recommended this hotel for a stay in Stockholm!

Fantastic location! The hotel breakfast is delicious with lots of variety and in a cute dining setting. We stayed 3 nights, didn't like the room we were given - it was not like in the photos and felt stuffy, but the reception staff was lovely and moved us to a better room the next morning.

I joined Best Western and booked through their website but we were given THE WORST imaginable room for 3 nights, room 605 I think. It was an attic with sloping ceilings , narrow, dark and a view of some air conditioning. I was so distressed and insulted. Fortunately Niko moved us to a better room ie you could stand up in it and it wasn't dark and gloomy, so credit to him. And he helped move the bags. Thank you Niko. Apart from the upset, the hotel was good enough. Comfy beds, cleaning daily. Stingy on coffee and milk. A kettle that you couldn't fill from tap as too big. Shower screen that was tiny so bathroom floor flooded. Tired decor. No bar. Breakfast good with variety, but no trays and appalling layout. The whole layout is bad in the dining and ground floor area. But excellent location. Ferry to Vasa directly opposite. Can walk to Sodermalm to get good viviews. Quite near metro. Staff very friendly and helpful.

This is a very nice hotel centrally located in Gamla Stan (Old Town) . The area is full of shops and restaurants. The room was comfortable albeit a little quirky, There is no counter in the bathroom and the shower has a half-door so the floor is inevitably going to get wet. I had to put the kettle on the floor to plug it in. And I will never get used to the daylight hours when it should be dark as the shades did not fully block the light. The staff is very friendly. The breakfast buffet was fantastic. I would definitely stay here the next time I am in Stockholm.

Great location & breakfast, but mixed experience with staff Hotel Gamla Stan is in a perfect spot—right in the heart of the old town and close to everything you'd want to see in Stockholm. The breakfast was excellent with lots of fresh options and a lovely setting. Rooms were clean and comfortable, and most of the staff were friendly and helpful. However, I did notice some uncomfortable behavior from the breakfast wait staff—interactions with guests seemed noticeably different depending on their background. It felt a bit off, even though the service itself was efficient. Overall, a nice stay in a beautiful area, but I hope the hotel works on making all guests feel equally welcome.

We needed a 1-night hotel before a cruise departure. Little did we know that the hotel is right next to the Palace, so we had a tour! The lobby entrance has welcoming people at the front desk, luggage storage, cookies, and coffee. The old elevator is a neat attraction. Very helpful all around.

Our group of friends booked 8 rooms for 6 nights at Hotel Gamla Stan as we were attending a wedding at the Grand Hotel, which is just a short and pleasant walk away. The location couldn't be more convenient — nestled in the charming Old Town yet within close proximity to all the key sights. From check-in to check-out, the service we received was warm, helpful, and attentive. The staff made sure we were well taken care of and provided useful recommendations throughout our stay. The rooms were clean and tastefully decorated with a Scandinavian classic touch — very cozy and restful. If there is one area that could be improved, it would be the breakfast. As we stayed for 6 nights, we noticed that the breakfast menu remained the same each day. A bit of variation would make the mornings more exciting, especially for longer stays. Also, during peak times, the dining staff tended to clear dishes a bit too quickly, which made the experience feel slightly rushed. Overall, this hotel provided a delightful experience, and we are more than happy with our stay. I would definitely return again — and look forward to discovering a refreshed breakfast selection next time.

Very nice small boutique hotel. Good location, near the water. Very large and delicious breakfast selection. Rooms were small but bright, efficient and very clean. We easily walked to sites, meals etc. very quiet at back of hotel as it's a pedestrian road only.

Such a lovely hotel in the heart of everything in the Old Town. Breakfast and service were outstanding. Our room did not have a view but could not fault it. Only ‘criticism ‘ would be that more storage in the room would be helpful and a closed shower rather than wet room style. Highly recommend and would definitely stay again!

This hotel was so amazing! It was in a great location across the street from the water & near lots of local attractions. We arrived by train & it was a short walk from the train station. The staff, Johann, Elena & Kristina were extremely helpful as we were there over Easter break & were unsure about some things due to the Easter holiday. My favorite part was the AMAZING breakfast spread. I loved everything & its location in the cellar was amazing with the bright white stone walls. We loved it! Thank you for making our stay in Stockholm so wonderful!

It's in the heart of Gamla Stand and very close to the main touristic attractions. The staff is very kind and helpful. They also have gluten free and vegan options to have breakfast. Finally it's quite close to take the ferry (Slussen stop).

I stayed at Hotell Gamla Stan in Stockholm and honestly, it was such a great experience. The location couldn't be better — right in the middle of the Old Town with cobblestone streets, colorful buildings, and cozy cafés all around. You're just a short walk from so many sights, but it still feels peaceful and quiet. The hotel has so much charm and character. I loved how they've kept the historical feeling of the building while still making the rooms super comfortable. My room had a beautiful view over the water, and waking up to that was just amazing. The bed was really comfy, and everything was clean and fresh. Breakfast was great too — a nice mix of everything you'd want to start the day. I especially loved having my morning coffee while looking out over the water. The staff were super friendly and helpful, always making sure everything was perfect. You can really tell they care about the guests having a good stay. Overall, I'd definitely come back. It's the perfect mix of history, comfort, and location. If you're visiting Stockholm and want to stay somewhere with a unique vibe, this is the place.

We had a wonderful stay at this Hotel. The staff was so serviceminded, polite and helpful. We had a large room with a nice bathroom. The breakfast was delicious with fruits, warm dishes, good bread, pancakes, smoothies, cheese, yoghurts and lots of sweet delights for desert. You will really enjoy at stay Hotel Gamla Stan Best Western.

Never been so disappointed at any stay as at Hotel Gamla Satn, Stockholm. Room in itself was small. There were no air on, no floor heating in an ice cold bathroom where you have to use squeegee to wipe up after you shower. Noise from the street. Garbage trucks etc. Could not open windows - people might get in since the windows were low towards the street. Vacuum cleaners outside the door every morning at around 8:30 am. No interest from the receptionist to support told me I have booked a small room - confronted her with that it's not informed what expect anywhere on their website - only queen size bed. Which is far smaller than any queens size elsewhere in the world. For the $/€/Svkr use it elsewhere.

Early one morning, I was woken up by loud knocking noises from workers banging on the pipes above my room. There were a few things about this experience that would make me suggest considering other hotels: 1. The hotel scheduled noisy maintenance during quiet hours, knowing it could disturb guests. 2. When I mentioned the inconvenience at the front desk, I was advised to email management for compensation, which they suggested without me requesting it. However, after initially reaching out, it took several days and a follow-up email before I received a response. In the end, management did not offer any compensation for the inconvenience. Given the range of other good hotel options, I would recommend looking elsewhere to find a hotel that values customer service.

Nice and comfortable bed and clean room with all necessary amenities for business travel. In the heart of the old town so really great location for visiting touristic destinations as well. The staff were very friendly and helpful and I would definitely like to visit again for leisure next time.

We decided to stay one night here to get away from home. Where we live there is chaos because of a neighbor and It has been going on for some yrs. Now we made the decision to sleep, So we choice this hotel. Decent price, good breakfast (according to google review's) and a good location in the old town. Im asthmatic so i needed to be able to open a window cus we read on reviews that this hotel didnt have aircon. We got room 103. You could almost jump down or up from the street into the room so we had to figure out how to have the window open all night and be "safe" cus the room was very warm and confined. 4 times during night and early morning (6-7 isch) this truck came and it were beeping and made a hell of a noise with containers and barrels backing in and out. Impossible to sleep! awful stay! No sleep for me. And i have to say, Its a BW Signature Hotel it didnt have refrigerator or minibar. I didnt have a night stand to place my glass or anything else so my husband build me one with the luggage rack and the tray for Te&coffee. And there were not manyplaces to put your clothes, if you dont want them on the floor. And the room had an light smell of mold. Also in the bathroom there were 1 hook for a towel and no bathroom essentials at all just screwed down soap and bodylotion. And im very suprised in this country were we have so much channels and apps and what not to choose from what ever we want to see, from any country... they had, below poor selection. Norweigan 2 choices, Denmark 1, news, Viasat history, SVT 1,2 , TV4, and 7 , Thats it!! These channels didnt have a lot to offer. Breakfast was Ok! Staff very friendly

It's a very old and dirty place with a foul smell. On July 11, 2024, around 9:50 am, the only elevator broke down, trapping me for over 40 minutes, it was distressing ordeal of 40 minutes. The manager, Antonio, never reached out to apologize, actually he never said a word to me or replied my email, even after I emailed him. Do not stay at this hotel. The elevator is old and unsafe, and the air conditioning doesn't blow cold air. There are many nicer hotels nearby. We left this hotel and found a much better one in the area.

This hotel is ideally located in the old part of the historic city. The front desk team are professional knowledgeable and very helpful.I'm making sure you get the most out of your stay. They clearly say that the hotel is made up of different properties and it can be feeling like you're a bit of in a rabbit warren. We did not have any concerns with going up-and-down stairs with our luggage.But I can see this could be a challenge for somebody with a customer with some disabilities.

The Hotel Gamla Stan has an excellent location - across the street from hop-on boats, down the street from the palace and close walking distance to many restaurants in the neighborhood. Our room was much larger than I anticipated (because the hotel is an old building) and did have one cabinet closet. There is an elevator. The bathroom shower had a half wall so the floor was all wet after showers - a common configuration in European hotels. It was very clean, staff were friendly and helpful and breakfast was terrific - with a bit of variety from day to day. They packed us a breakfast bag (yogurt, juice, pastry, apple) as we had an early departure. I had a Best Western membership and happened to catch a promotion so got a good rate for this area!

This was my first time in Stockholm. The hotel was easy to get to from the central station (15-minute walk) and is located right in the middle of Stockholm in Gamla Stan. It's on the water and only about a 2-minute walk to ferry 82 that takes you to Djurgarden and the museums there. The staff is amiable and accommodating. We got to the hotel early and they were able to check us in early - lucky us! Had we not been able to check-in early, they have a place to hold your luggage until check-in so you can explore the city. The check-in area also has a few couches and free tea/coffee/water to help warm you up between outings. The breakfast (included in our booking) was excellent. Pancakes, toast, scrambled eggs, bacon, meatballs, pastries, and so much more. Definitely one of the better hotel buffet breakfasts I've had. I've read some reviews that say that the hotel rooms are a bit dated. The hotel is in an older building since it's located in Gamla Stan (the old part of Stockholm), so that makes sense and getting around the inside of the hotel can be a bit of a maze. That said, the rooms are all clean and everything was well cared for. The rooms could use some updating (limited outlets, no USB chargers, etc.) but that's to be expected from a hotel in the old quarter of the city. We found the rooms to be spacious, clean, and very comfortable. Next time we're in Stockholm, we'll be back here!

Gamla Stan BW is a hotel in the historical centre of Stockholm. Unfortunately the rooms were quite basic, with no wardrobe, safe, mini bar. The staff on the other hand were helpful and they provided us with an iron and an ironing board when we needed it. The breakfast was surprisingly good, with a variety of food and drinks. To conclude, this hotel needs a serious renovation.

My adult daughter and I stayed her for our first visit to Stockholm. If you want a hotel in a great location with good value in the old town this is it. On the water, close to the ferry and easily walkable to most attractions. We loved that we could walk around the water path from here. Also the location is central enough we could go back to the hotel easily during the day. They offer complimentary coffee, tea and a treat in the lobby during the day which was a lovely touch. The rooms are on the smaller size so you may want to size up if you like a little more space. The bathroom in our room was updated & modern. The only thing we missed was an in-room safe to secure our passports. The breakfast was lovely with enough variety and a good start to the day. We would definitely return to Hotel Gamla Stan

I have stayed in this hotel, first for business, and since I liked it, I brought my children for a vacation for a couple of days in Stockholm. The hotel is situated in an excellent area of Stockholm, close to the castle, museums and near to busses, fairies and subway, and still on a walking distance to downtown. Just outside the door you find the wonderful Old town of Stockholm. The breakfast has everything you need and more, and the staff is wonderful. It is quiet, cosy and charming without any unnecessary extravagance, but still if fulfils all your needs. The only thing we were not satisfied with, was the speed of the Wifi.

Friendly staff and good service but the room was awful, very small and no wardrobe to put your clothes, shower and bathroom was tiny and not up to standard. Nice takeaway breakfast as we had an early departure, great location but this hotel needs a lot of investment to bring it up to standard - would not recommend.

Everything about this hotel was top class. Breakfast was fantastic and the room was an absolute stunner.Staff were very friendly .We even had canopy's one night which was a great treat. So next time I am in Stockholm I will be booking this hotel.Thanks to all the staff

The Hotel Gamla Stan has a wonderful location in the Old Town with great water views and only a short walk to the city center. The buffet breakfast is excellent with a wide selection of items. Combine all that with low room rates and you have a real winner!

Lovely hotel beautifully located. Comfortable and scrumptious breakfasts. Welcoming hot drinks in the reception. A lift to the top floor. The hotel is close to the bus tour stop and to shops and restaurants

Great location and good rates, but definitely low frills. Friendly staff and decent amenities. Showers are SMALL, like a ship shower, right next to the toilet. Warm and nice products though. Bed was comfy enough. Clean and has everything you need for a good stay.

We had a delightful stay in a BW on the Lido in Venice many years ago, but had booked the Gamla Stan based on the location and facilities, not due to affinity with the brand. However, what Gamla had in common was the decent quality of rooms, fair price and great location for both the tourist sites and the city centre. Furthermore, the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. It would be unfair to omit any of the reception staff from praise and the breakfast staff also merit thanks. Bedrooms serviced well so cannot think of any area where the staff did not contribute to a good stay. Room functional and bathroom with walk-in shower modern and clean. Even the scrambled egg, which is often merely acceptable, was done well and refreshed regularly. No hesitation on returning. Kudos to staff.

Hotel is in ideal location in Gamla Stan. Close to shopping & dining, plus the ferry to Djurgarden is right across the street. The breakfast was also fantastic with many items to choose from and it still allowed time to sleep in since it went until 10:30am.

I made a mistake and booked the wrong dates by a day early. I was staying seven full nights. when I arrived they told me that because I hadn't arrived as planned, they had cancelled my reservation. They were able to find me a room, but said they needed to charge for the night I didn't show. I said I understood, and then they charged me for six nights. I was jet lagged and realized the next day that I would need the additional night that the booking didn't cover. The manager wanted to charge me double what I booked the original dates for. Even though I made an honest mistake and was fine with paying for the first night that I had “missed.” When I asked if they ever call their guests who don't show and are booked for a long period of time, she launched into this rude speech about how when I booked I made an agreement and their policy is listed in the email and when I tried to tell her I was asking a yes or no question she went on and on and was so rude. I asked a simple yes or no question in a polite tone and was met with hostility. Idk about Sweden, but in the US, you don't make your guest feel bad. It's just not what is done in the HOSPITALITY industry. On my first morning I was awoken by a guest who opened my door with a key and said “this is my room” before I told her to please leave. the front desk told me it must have been my fault (!!!!) and that I probably hadn't closed the door fully. I certainly closed my door fully. As a single woman traveling alone, I made sure my door was closed. The manager gave me some chips and water as compensation. And still insisted that I pay double for the additional night I needed but had booked incorrectly. Be warned that the trash collectors come at 6am several times a week in the alley way and will guaranteed wake you up even with ear plugs and a noise machine. It is LOUD. for the extra money, go stay in a real hotel where they know how to treat their guests. That's what I'm doing tonight, rather than give them a cent more. If you don't care that your sleep will be interrupted and the manager will treat you like garbage, by all means, stay in this dump.

I think it is a very cosy and comfy hotel. Staff members are nice and they speak English. The hotel room we got had a nice view of the shore. The bed was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was the best of it. There were lots of Swedish traditional snacks which were pretty fresh and good.

We spend 4 night here in early July, and we loved it. The rooms were nice in size, great beds, great WiFi, a varied breakfast buffet that can accommodate any dietary restrictions. The only downside is that the rooms do not have AC, but we opened the windows and used the fans they provide and it was comfortable. And there is no closet or place to unpack, so, we lived out our suitcase. You are 2 blocks from the Royal Place, Old Town, and hundreds of restaurants and shops. Perfect location to go sightseeing around town. Very clean. We highly recommend this hotel

This hotel is ENTIRELY wrapped in plastic, including the windows. No AC, so the windows open to the lovely view of dirty plastic sheeting. Pros: great staff, great breakfast, good location. CONS: no ventilation (two electric fans in room only), hideous outside appearance of property, no dresser or closet in room, phone platform thst protrudes around the corner to the bathroom, no slip protection or grab bars in shower area.

WARNING! Horrible Condition This hotel is currently under renovation and should not be open. Almost every window in the entire hotel is sealed shut with filthy construction plastic. The only airflow in each room is completely blocked unless you tear away the plastic, which also allows construction debris to enter. There is no way this hotel should be considered while in construction stages. I urge you to see the posted images of the hotel condition. Hotel front office staff seem unresponsive, and ask that you speak with management, who are never there. Oh, the breakfast buffet was very good though

The entire exterior is under renovation and the building is under wrap. You can see out the window. Very glad we changed hotels to one nearby at the last minute. I would have been extremely disappointed to have no view of the water and would feel completely claustrophobic!

This hotel is located right in the Old Town of Stockholm and therefore within walking distance of all major tourist attractions. Step out of it and you are greetes by the perfect blue of the waterfront adorned with fascinating old building. The room was small but quite lovely. Tea-making facilities in room and free drinks and snacks provided in lobby. Breakfast buffet was superb. Has a small gym which is ok.

I really enjoyed the stay in this hotel. Staff was friendly, i got complimentary upgrade to a bigger room which was lovely. Breakfast has lots of choices and was great I would definitely come back and i recommend it

The location is great! Since it's at the old town, it's close to places that we needed to go. Good enough breakfast choices as well. Room is ready upon arrival and it's comfortable enough. Just lack of few amenities like bottle of water in the room but the lobby has some refreshments area for guests which is great.

Room is very small, light isn't sufficient. No cupboard in room, no heating-system in bathroom! Service has forgotten to vacuum-clean the carpet. Little bit noisy, awful parking situation. Not what I expected from BE

This is a good 4* hotel. Perfect location, for exploring the Old Town, or for the ferry to Skansen and even just a walk to the station. There are various buses, trams and the hop-on hop-off bus are just outside. The breakfast is really good, so much choice, really good quality items on offer. The pancakes are really light an tasty and the bread selections is amazing. The dinning room is quiet cramped but we always manage to find a table. The bedrooms are large and clean, we didn't have much of a view, maybe next time pick a front facing room, but no comes to Stockholm to look out a window, when you could immerse yourself in Nordic life. In the lounge reception area, there are complementary drinks and snacks, plus you can purchase beers, fizzy drinks and chocolate. The lounge could have had a few more chairs. But it was a lovely idea. All the staff were very friendly. I would recommend this hotel to friends and family.

Great location for exploring the old town and easy access to other attractions and islands. A fabulous choice of products for breakfast including gluten free choices and freshly made juice shots. Staff very helpful and friendly.

Located in the heart of old town Stockholm. Postitives are: Walking distance to many attractions, or walking distance to ferry or bus to attractions. Nice rooms, wonderful breakfast. Most rooms are for only two though. Only a few rooms have views of the sea, so book early. The other rooms have views of the building next door. Wonderful breaksfast!

We were so pleased with our stay. We had a nice view of the harbor and the bed was so comfortable. The breakfast spread was beautiful (albeit a bit crowded at times). We walked everywhere, the location was perfect. Staff was great and they even put together a bagged breakfast for our early trip to the airport. We would definitely stay there again.

At the price I paid, I was a bit sceptical about this place until I checked in. But this was a sweet surprise. Built out of a historic building and on the fringe of Gamla stan this is an absolute steal and a hidden gem LOCATION: Located on the island of Gamla stan and easily walkable from all key points of interest DINE + DRINK: Free Coffee and refreshments are available at the lobby level all day long for guests. Ws quite surprised by the Excellent breakfast served at the restaurant. The spread was amazing and had everything from delicious pastries to gourmet Pies. Not the usual boring stuff! Positive: location, hearty & savory breakfast including several gluten free options. Price. Cons: no ramp or elevator to bring suitcases. Window frames rotten. A carpet at hotel rooms is so dated and brings very bad smells in the room. Some areas can be much cleaner !!

A newish run-of-the-mill hotel of the 1650 A.D. (but very modernized) variety. Couldn't find their e-mail in the booking confirmation. Couldn't be found myself in their computer (staff had registered me 6 hours too early). No ceiling lights. No satisfactory reading light. No bathrobe. No getting the TV to show the time or the weather, even when staff tried (the exact same model worked perfectly the next day at Clarion Wellington). No getting away from staff self-centeredly harassing you with surveys after your stay. Not taking no for an answer they will simply try to force you. Back off and shape up! Immediately! . Grand breakfast buffet (average bread) with a lavish selection of specialities on top of all the usual stuff. Four different smoothies in bottles, overnight chia pudding, pancakes, apple crumble pie, and more. .

We got there after a long night flight, and even though it was a little early for check in, they let us go to our room, which was great! We got a room on the top floor, it was cozy and beautiful, with everything we needed. The breakfast was great, excellent quality, and great variety of choices. And the location....it could not be better! We walked everywhere, boat tours, dinner, sightseeing the area. The only thing I would change is that next time I will pay a little more and reserve a front window, it is well worth it! I could still see the water from my window, but I believe it will be incredible from the front.

At first sight hotel looks nice. However, carpets were dirty, breakfast area was untidy and generally a mess - no attention to dirty dishes. We experienced the night receptionist being rude to guests checking in which was ackward. Cleaning lady left the vacuum cleaner in front of the stairs (in the way)

Can't beat the location, view (if you have a water view) and the helpfulness of the staff. Even the breakfast was large with many choices and quality food. We had everything we needed for our stay and the extra money for a harbor view was well worth it

We loved this hotel! Great value, great service, great place! We especially thought the staff was very helpful. They really went the extra mile to make sure we got an early breakfast and took care of our special medications. Location was awesome, near everything we wanted to see, and close to public transit.

The hotel was great! They had an amazing breakfast included with the room and the location is perfect to explore all of Stockholm. Literally right on the water so there are also amazing views. Also, right in the old city so very close to many cute restaurants and shops. Short walk to Sodermalm and Ostermalm area which is also very convenient. The staff are friendly and accomodating.

Nice hotel in Old city. View over the harbour and just around the corner the Old City (Gamla Stan). Walking distance to most places, we only used transportation once in 4 days. So take you walking shoes with you, The Hotel are cosy, and the breakfast are really good. Coffee in the lounge all day.

The rum was extremely warm and there was no way to adjust the temperature. When I called reception at 2 in the morning to get help with the ventilation, no one answered. I paid for a Superior room and got a simple room on the bottom floor cause the Superior one was under renovation. I had to open the window to survive the heat in the room, very noisy. There was no coffee when we came for breakfast. Never again

Location great! Nice and affordable. Clean, nice staff. Single room, I only needed one night and was in a hurry. The room was small indeed but that didn't bother me. Hurt my neck though trying to watch the tv from the bed. They could have placed it better. Overall I'm satisfied so it wasn't a deal breaker.

The hotel is located in the heart of Stockholm's Old Town, on the waterfront and within walking distance of many of the city's most important historical and cultural sites. My room was tiny and the wooden beams hanging from the ceiling gave me the impression that this part of the building had once been an attic. However, the room had all the necessary amenities to make it comfortable. The breakfast selection was excellent and there is complimentary coffee service in the lobby in the afternoons. In addition to its location and affordable rates, the hotel's friendly staff is one of its main features. At the Front Desk, Daniel not only helped me with all the information I needed to get around the city, but also recommended ways to save money and make my trip more efficient. He remembered my name throughout my one-week stay and was always ready to help. His colleague Christina was also great and, when it was too early for the lobby coffee service, she went to the kitchen and got a cup of coffee for me herself, going the extra mile to make me feel welcomed. My only observations are for guests who may have difficulty with stairs since, although there's an elevator, getting to my room involved going up and down several steps. While that was not a problem for me, I could see it being a concern for anyone with physical limitations. Overall, staying at the Gamla Stan was a great experience and I would recommend it to any budget-conscious traveler looking for a perfect location at reasonable rates.

We stayed here for 3 nights on a bed and breakfast basis. The hotel is lovely and clean and check was a pleasant and easy affair. The room on the third floor was spacious with a large tv, coffee and tea making facilities. There is also coffee and tea available in the reception area with biscuits. The bathroom had underfloor heating, and had a huge shower area. All clean. The room was quite cold, even with the heaters on full, and with the hotel on the main road, it was quite noisy in the early hours with people shouting from street level. Even though it wasn't an issue, light sleepers could find this problematic. The breakfast was very nice with a huge selection to cater for most appetites, as well as special diet requests. To limit the amount of people in the area, you have to pre book slots during check in. This could be problematic if you wanted an early start. All in all a fantastic stay, and somewhere we would stay again.

Hotel is located near to everything, and thats great. Breakfast was very good. At the reception they were very friendly and helpful. Christina was very service minded and helped us with all of our problems. We will definitely come back!

Stayed five nights at this cozy hotel in Stockholm. It's right on Gamla Stan for you to explore immediately out the front door. It's also within easy walking distance of most of the best sights in Stockholm including the Vasa Museum and City Hall. The Royal Palace is almost next door. The hotel is quiet and clean, the bed was comfortable. The excellent breakfast selection is a great value since eating out can get expensive in Stockholm. The staff were extremely helpful and responsive, I was especially pleased with the service from Daniel at the front desk. I will stay here on my next visit to Stockholm.

Came to stay for 5 nights and came very tired and was greeted with kindness and knowledgeable staff. Got a beautiful room with really good rate and 5 minutes to the Royal Palace in Stockholm and other venues. Great breakfast, clean and comfy bed. Will for sure return!!

The location of the hotel is excellent. You can walk to Södermalm and the city center and take a ferry to Djurgården. The breakfast was also excellent. Comfortable beds and pillows. The overall atmosphere was cosy. The room was clean and nicely decorated in keeping with the historical feeling of the hotel. However, due to several small problems with service, the hotel did not really feel like a 4 star place. It's also worth noting that there didn't seem to be a direct public transport from the city centre to the nearest bus stops. We walked most of the time but took a taxi for the trips to/from the train station when we had luggage with us.

I had a wonderful stay, worth the visit. Staff was super friendly and made the stay very cozy. Breakfast included everything You might like and had a great variety. View was superb and great selection of restaurants are just around the corner.

Well I called to say I'd be coming quite late which wasn't a problem. Upon arrival I was greeted by Christina who said my room had been upgraded which was such a pleasant surprise I didn't know where to begin to say thanks? The room was spacious with everything you need. My window was facing the side road so there wasn't any noise and I actually enjoyed having the window open. The cleaners were so housekeeping were amazing and really kept my room tip-top throughout my stay so my thanks to them too. Miriam was the one I was the most and badgered the most regarding getting an iron up to the room but she did so with a smile so I humbly thank her for helping out with this. Hanna I met when I was checking out and she kind of sealed off my experience there. Kindness, friendly, funny and totally worth it. I highly recommend this place and thanks so much to the staff for making my life easy. See you soon :-)

I booked a standard single room on the official Best Western website after having seen the pictures and read the description. When I was given the badge at the hotel and entered the room at 3 p.m., I saw that it was very different from the one on the website. It was dark and very small. I went to the reception and told the two employees that the room didn't look at all like the one on the BW website. They upgraded the room and gave me a standard room (number 103) with a queen size bed, which I really appreciated. The room and the bathroom were spacious and I booked an additional night paying the normal price of this double room. Unlike the description on the official BW website, there were no slippers and no bathrobe in the room. I was immediately given a pair of slippers when I asked for them at the reception. The location in Gamla Stan is excellent. The breakfast is also very good and offers a big choice. It's a pity they don't have any warm milk or a coffee machine for cappuccinos. They only have black coffee in a huge thermos and cold milk. On Friday, I had breakfast at 7 a.m., which was perfect. On Saturday, they only serve breakfast from 8 a.m. on and at 8.10 the breakfast room was already overcrowded and people queueing up. A really bad solution in times of Corona.

We spent 3 nights at thia hotel. The room was comfortable and clean. The staff were nice and helpfully. The brekfast was good, we enjoyed everything. The location is the biggest advantage of the hotel. All of the sights are very close, you can visit everything on foot.

Hotel Gamla Stan has a wonderful location right in the heart of Gamla Stan and overlooking the water. My room had just what I needed and the staff was very nice. The breakfast was good, I especially enjoyed the ginger shot =)

Centrally located close to the royal castle in the historical part of Stockholm this hotel was ideal for our three night stay. Our large room overlooking the harbour was very comfortable and clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast outstanding!

Had a very nice stay for 5 nights of sightseeing in Stockholm. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Location excellent in the old town. Short walk to ferry to Skeppsholmen and Djurgården where many museums are located. Bed was wonderfully comfortable. Room was very clean. Everything was just perfect.

A hotel that makes you feel welcome. Staff is extremely helpful. Breakfast is wonderful with salmon, skagen, roast beef and lots of home made breads and cakes. Nice lobby bar also with daily coffee and cakes.

The perfect place for our girl's weekend reunion. It allowed us all the comforts whilst still being close to go out and explore. From our windows we took in lovely views and just across the street we could take the ferry across the water. We were pleasantly surprised that being that close to a main road wasn't noticeable. We slept soundly without any noise pollution. The rooms were comfortable and their spaciousness made spending time all in one room a nice experience. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, helping us with all our small requests. And the breakfast served in the cellar floor with its white vaulting and little nooks made for a more intimate breakfast than most hotels.

Great hotel with a beautiful view over the waterfront with its lively traffic of small boats. The staff was very kind and helpful. Our room (standard king room) was spacious, clean and cozy with a royal style decor. The charming old town of Stockholm is literally just around the corner. We really enjoyed our stay.

The hotel is very cozy and nice. Hanna is a wonderful hostess, she made our stay wonderful taking care of everything we needed. The breakfast is great and very varied. The fresh coffee and cookies to take fika is a nice moment to sit in the lobby and chill. Everybody in the reception is very kind and sweet. We would come back again if life gives Us the opportunity!!!

the hotel is in the heart of the Gamla Stan by the water. Easy to find. The room despite it was small , it was clean. There was no fridge in the room . The staff was really friendly and can help you with everything.

I have spent some nights at this hotel to and from, and just that should tell the story of this review. I'm a satisfied guest to this place. Close to a regular. Rooms are unusual big, comfortable, spotless clean and it often feels like I'm the first guest to ever do a stay over. Nice feeling for sure. Location is awesome with a walking distance to more or less everything, and the Metro Station "Slussen" is just a 3 min walk away which will take you to literally wherever you want to. The building is approximately 400 years old and breakfast is served in the basement, just that is an historical experience in a good way for sure. Everything is super fresh and I can higly recommend the sausage and freshly made croissants combined with the cheese plate. If I would recommend anything it would be to book a room at the front . The view from the bed in the morning and the fresh air from the archipelago is to die for. Really. It will make your day. Have a look at my attached picture.

An extremely nice hotel in one of the best areas of Gamla Stan. The staff were just amazing and super friendly. Breakfast was good. The room was really nice. There are no working drawers in the room though.

Due to moving in covid times getting a personnummera, which is kinda essential to swedish life I stayed in the hotel ... at first just a few days initially. But I liked it and upon hearing that one can rent rooms for long term stay (a full month), I stayed for 2+ months. The rooms are nice, good size bathrooms are clean and with a good shower (which for me as someone tall is important), the beds are comfortable. Breakfast buffet has all the essentials (cereals, breads, coffee, juices, scrambled eggs, bacon, meatballs, swedish pancakes). Location, the location is pretty hard to beat since you can enjoy the old town and at the same time get around very easily be it walking, bus, uber, tunnelbanna ... or even with the ferry. Last but not least the stuff. Being a foreigner and staying long term being able to turn to hotel staff is pretty necessary and appreciated. In short the hotel will be my recommendation to friends and family, when they want to come and visit me.

The location of the hotel is perfect, facing the sea, and within Gamla Stan. The team at the reception has been incredibly kind and helpful, despite a late arrival and during our stay. And the breakfast was diverse, huge and delicious. I will definitely come back, very soon. My daughters loved it. Yann

Hi, i visited Sweden for my work purpose, i visited this hotel and stayed here for over 2 months. It was one of the best places i have stayed. The staff were so accommodating. As this was during the time of Covid-19, they didnt have breakfast buffet, but they made sure everyone was given breakfast bags so, they could have breakfast. Cleaning was on par - and they made sure all the supplies in the room were fully stocked up. If i needed more towels, i could just ring or go down to reception and they were happy to give me more. Hotel manageress Magdalena was really kind, she made sure I, was safe at all times, asked me if i needed anything. other staff, Aaron, Myriam, Line, Cem, Gjane, Elise and all the cleaners were fantastic. i believe this hotel deserves 5 star. I have been reading reviews from people giving it negative comments, to be honest you guys need to re-think on what is most important. Not having towels, because you did not ask is not hotels problem its your problem for not asking. Not having buffet during Covid is for your safety not for the convenience of hotel. These guys are doing their best to accommodate us and make my stay pleasant. i am very grateful.

I had a reservation at Gamla-Stan Hotel for visiting purposes, which I booked and paid since months ago, before all the Coronavirus craziness started (without free cancellation as I always do, cause I never had to cancel a trip before) My flight to Stockholm got cancelled due to the current situation and I wrote the hotel, that I cannot honor my reservation anymore, and to get at least a voucher in order to be able to stay there some other time, once the travelling would be possible again. They showed no understanding whatsoever, and they said because Germany is not on the force majeure list on Booking, they won't give any refunds or voucher. I find it very unreasonable, considering that I had no way of reaching Stockholm and not because of my own choice …and on the official websites from Sweden was even mentioned that travelling to Sweden shouldn't take place if no serious reason for it. I don't think sightseeing qualifies for that… I think this is absurd, they are just taking advantage of the current situation to make profit!!! I would have been perfectly fine with just a voucher to be used some time in the future, but like this…they just took the payment …without giving any service for it…and of course now no review is possible on Booking !!! This says a lot about the management mentality and even if I didn't actually spend a night in this hotel, now I would definitely not plan to do that ever !!! And I actually wouldn't recommend it to anyone else, I think this kind of behavior shouldn't be encouraged at all !!!
