Best Western Hotel De Havelet

We have been visiting for many years and have always submitted an excellent review. This year is no different as everything was as expected with excellent service from lovely staff and delicious food served in both restaurants. A plus this year was that our room had been upgraded with a beautiful bathroom. Thank you to housekeeping for returning the charger that we left in the room when we checked out.

Booked this hotel as had to work in Guernsey for a few days, well someone had to go didn't they, lucky for me the King Suite came up within the company budget so I booked it and I was very pleased I did! Lovely room, had a sofa so you could sit and relax which is so much better than the usual Sturdy chair you get in most hotels. Shower and a separate a bath which was great. Overall a really nice sized suite. Bed was massive and very comfortable. Great touches, the bath robe, fruit, coffee machine. If the King Suite is in your budget, go for it. If not, don't worry, my colleague had a standard room which was also great although she was saddened as there was no coffee machine, had to make do with the kettle ha ha. Breakfast is lovely, freshly cooked full English and other choices. One thing the hotel is up a hill and it's a big hill. Don't be put off thought, it's a great hotel. Go for it!

Room was good, nice selection of tea and coffee. Slightly strange to have a terrace with door you can't lock (has a chain) that links to a public corridor. My wife was booked on a work trip, including breakfast and I tagged along. Checkin all fine, then phone call to say an extra £20 charge for breakfast. Kindly replied that neither of us will be having breakfast and they therefore confirmed no charge for extra guest for me. Neither of us had breakfast as flying later and having lunch in Peter Port. £30 charge on check out and “manager not available” to discuss. Unacceptable. Will avoid for future trips to the island. A shame as the staff at the bar were really nice.

Right from the start we were made very welcome. Our room was very clean comfortable and warm and quiet too. All of the staff were delightful and looked after us extremely well. Good breakfast with plenty of choice. Quite a wide range of food was available in The Copenhagen and service was always excellent. The hotel is about 15 minutes walk from the shops and is quietly situated. No noise from the restaurant, either. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and intend to return some time.

A wonderful hotel set in a lovely quiet location. Brilliant service, great value for money and a lovely ambience in this hotel. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Guernsey for business or pleasure.

Lovely hotel with super friendly staff and good facilities. Breakfast selection was very good and the restaurant on site served tasty food. We enjoyed finishing the day relaxing by the pool and sauna.

Very helpful friendly staff made me feel quite at home and very well looked after. With lovely views at breakfast and delish halloumi burgers at The Copenhagen Bar & Grill, this was just the mid-winter break I was looking for. Guernsey with its blue green sea was magical and the Islanders very welcoming. Best Best Western I've ever stayed in, that's for sure!

Great stay. Nice clean rooms with exceptional staff. I was traveling with a collogue who was having a birthday and, after mentioning this at reception, the staff arranged a special treat for her. First class service.

We have just spent a wonderful five days celebrating Christmas with family at the Hotel de Havelet. This was our first stay but won't be our last. Other members of our family had stayed before and recommended the hotel. The Christmas package offered was excellent and great value. It included breakfast and dinner every day with a superb Christmas Day lunch. We had a trip to Herm on Boxing Day and luckily the weather was dry and the sea calm. There was a pottery painting workshop which was great fun and we got to keep our decorated snowmen/ baubles. We also had a bingo night and race night. Our room was lovely with a very comfortable bed and modern bathroom which had recently been refurbished. There was coffee, tea, water and biscuits in our room which was replenished daily. We were given a Christmas box containing iced biscuits, truffles and fruit together with 2 bottles of Prosecco. On Christmas morning we found Santa had kindly left us two reusable metal drink bottles outside our door which was a lovely surprise. The hotel had been beautifully decorated and most of the decorations made by one of the members of staff (unfortunately I didn't take her name) but being a fellow crafter I did manage to get some helpful hints and ideas from her. The sea views from the hotel are lovely and it is also only a 10 minute walk down the hill to the town centre/sea front although the walk back up gets the heart rate going. The pool and sauna looked great but unfortunately, due to being out and about a lot of the time and enjoying excellent food, we didn't have time to try them out this trip. Genarro and his team provided an excellent service. They were all so friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. I couldn't pick out any particular member of staff above the rest as all are a credit to the hotel. Thank you all for making our Christmas stay so memorable and we look forward to our next stay. This is a great hotel, I stayed on a work trip and went through the whole menu more or less. Each dish was great and the staff are really friendly, especially Radj who was really helpfull Had laundry back in about 5 hours which was really good as my trip was extended. Decent pool area and saunas etc. Room spotless every day, tea coffee and a few items to eat replaced every day Top notch for the money Will be staying at this place every time from now on

Stayed here with my partner and some friends for my wedding. Had the best time , staff were lovely and nothing was too much trouble. Nice rooms and a brilli pool and jacuzzi to use. The food and bar area were also nice.

Hotel rooms were very clean and provided excellent facilities. Rooms were large and comfortable. Staff very helpful and free minibus trip around the island was a great bonus. Food in the restaurants were of an excellent quality

A return visit to this hotel and it never disappoints us. Superb hospitality, great rooms, fantastic food, all with a great view of St Peter Port. Breakfast, there is a large selection, help yourself on the buffet table and also, many items cooked to order, hot food selection, from full English, salmon and scrambled eggs, smoked haddock, the list goes on. Evenings, the Copenhagen bar and grill have a wide selection, daily specials, salads, steaks, fish dishes,from starters to desserts, it doesn't disappoint. However, you must try and pre book a table as it is very popular with guest and locals alike.This hotel is on the edge of the town, up quite a steep hill, there is a courtesy mini bus to the town, which also does short trips to various attractions during summer season . All in all, nothing is too much trouble for any of the staff members. Superb hotel, and yes, we will return.

This hotel is excellent. Good quality food presented and cooked perectly. The rooms are very comfortable. Ideal setting for a quiet break but not too far from town. Everyone looks after you and has to be the most relaxing place to stay. Highly recommend

What a wonderful hotel! The staff really made our stay, all of them were lovely! Cleanliness was to a high standard and the facilities were brilliant. Had no trouble sleeping as the position of the hotel is lovely and quiet and the bed is so comfy. Had a drink on the terrace in the sunshine and that was bliss! Breakfast certainly filled us up for the day and we also ate in the Copenhagen one evening and the food was delicious, a really great selection! I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again and I would 100% recommend. A great location and a great birthday weekend!

Booked 3 rooms 6 months ago and mentioned my uncle was 90. Common sense should have prevailed… not rooms 11 & 32. As is carer this was important to be close. Especially when the facilities were out of order.

Stayed here for 7 nights and loved every minute - so friendly and well run compared to so many badly staffed hotels found so often these days. Every member of staff went the extra mile to be helpful and just do their job in an efficient and brilliant manner. The hotel was spotlessly clean and the room (King Suite) was very comfortable and well equipped. Breakfast and restaurant was equally impressive and bar prices were a pleasant surprise too - very unusual! Overall service was faultless and we will definitely try to return.

My partner and I stumbled across this hotel whilst exploring St Peter Port and decided to stop for lunch. The food was fantastic, location delightful and the staff first class. I only wish we could have stayed longer but had to catch the ferry. Will definitely go back if in Guernsey again.

Spent 6 days at the Hotel De Havelet and from the moment we arrived to the moment we left the staff were all very friendly and could not do enough to make your stay wonderful. The hotel was clean and well appointed. The swimming pool and spa area was a lovely place to spend time after a trip out to relax. Overall we would visit and stay again.

The hotel has no lift, but we were booked into the top storey. We had to change to a ground floor where we could wheel our suitcases in/out of the room. The staff were very good at resolving this, but it could have been avoided with advance knowledge. It took 2 hours to find the hotel from the harbour (a 4 minute drive) because the access road was closed for an event. This was extremely annoying. We relied on local people to show us a back route into the hotel. After a very frustrating start to our 9-day stay, we decided to eat in at the Wellington Boot restaurant. It was dreadful and we made our complaint to management. After this, we decided to eat out each evening - something we did not want to do, especially as it meant driving and not drinking. It affected the whole of our holiday.

Our first time visiting Guernsey and decided to book our stay in the De Havelet hotel. We were not disappointed. The staff are very professional and extremely helpful The rooms are spacious and clean The food in the Copenhagen restaurant is excellent We will definitely be booking the De Havelet hotel when we next visit Guernsey

Unfortunately the weather was not very good (we have visited the Channel Isles many times and this was the worst weather we have experienced). Luckily we stayed at a very good hotel. The staff were excellent and could not have done more for us. Breakfast and dinner was first class and a there is a very clean and pleasant indoor swimming pool. Our daughter has a number of allergies and the staff could not have been more helpful in looking after her, especially breakfast/dining room staff. A big thank you to them

Comfortable Hotel with helpful staff. The food in the Copenhagen is excellent. The best way down to the front is from the top entrance. You come out opposite a 'Weather Stone' at Haverlet house and pass two Victor Hugo houses.

My wife and I have just returned from a delightful holiday staying at Hotel de Havelet. The staff are excellent, the rooms spotlessly clean, the views from the hotel of St Peter Port are breathtaking, and the whole holiday was made enjoyable and restful by our stay here again. We would recommend this hotel to anyone who appreciates excellent service and a clean, comfortable and peaceful hotel that is just a short distance from the centre of town.

We really enjoyed our stay. A very comfortable hotel, staff were all very friendly and welcoming. The rooms were spotlessly clean and well maintained. Breakfast was very good and we had a very nice meal in the restaurant one evening. The spa was a nice facility. The hotel is well located in a nice part of the town

Stayed here for a week and really enjoyed the stay at this friendly hotel. Room was reasonable size, overlooking the gardens that surround the hotel on 3 sides. Everything was spotless and well maintained. From reception to wait staff and others who we met everyone was friendly and helpful. Plenty of parking on site, a regular minibus service to town (avoids the steep hill up from the waterside) and lots of seating around the place where you can relax inside or out. Lovely views from the restaurant at breakfast across to the castle. Food at breakfast and dinner was lovely with lots of choice. Can certainly recommend this place and will very likely stay again when we return to the island.

This was my third stay here, the last in 2019. My wife and I stayed for five nights. A few emailed queries or requests I sent before our arrival were all answered promptly. The hotel is very well situated, a short walk to the town centre and sea front and near to the tidal bathing pools, hewn from the rock. A refreshing plunge highly recommended. Note that the walk back to the hotel from the sea is up a very steep (but short) incline, so not something to be tackled by the infirm or frail (or on a bicycle !). Check in was friendly and efficient. The hotel had very kindly taken delivery of two small parcels for us, greatly appreciated, and they had been placed in our room in anticipation of our arrival. We were happy with the room - clean and a reasonable size. I noticed that the bathroom had recently been refurbished, to a very high standard. Breakfast was very good, served in the upstairs restaurant. I thought the buffet offering (essentially fruit, cereals and breads) could be improved by offering a wider selection. The off the menu offerings were excellent; really enjoyed the full English vegetarian breakfast. Service was friendly and attentive. It says a lot that some of the staff at the hotel were the same as for my previous stays. The downstairs restaurant serves lunch and dinner. We ate dinner there a few times. It was excellent. Great ambience, service and creative and varied food choices. Waitress "Pichu" (apologies if misspelled) was a standout with consistently good and friendly service for the duration of our stay. On our departure reception kindly organised a taxi to take us back to the harbour to catch the ferry. It is a walkable distance, about 20 to 25 minutes, but with luggage better to book a taxi. We really enjoyed our stay. It's the kind of hotel where everything is probably going to be to your liking, but if it isn't you can be confident that management will immediately take steps to rectify matters. Hoping to be back in Guernsey in 2024 - we will be staying here.

Have stayed at this hotel several times and when you find something this good, why change. Service and amenities are first class with attentive, welcoming and friendly staff at all levels. The restaurants are excellent serving quality food at not unreasonable prices for the standard of the establishment. Links with the other hotels in the group are a bonus. Room standards are high and cleanliness not faulted. Recommended to anyone looking for a great hotel and thanks to the high standards of both the DeHavelet and Best Western.

Just back from a 4 night stay at Hotel de Havelet, St. Peter Port. This is a lovely hotel with great food in The Copenhagen Restaurant too. The service in the bar and restaurant is friendly and attentive - very good. The hotel is very comfortable and has good views out to the coast. We really enjoyed our stay there and feel much fitter after our walks up that hill! (it is quite a hill to walk up ) Thoroughly recommend this hotel and would certainly consider returning in the future.

Hotels that provide such excellent service as this are a rarity, indeed some others we have stayed at, claiming to be of similar standard, would do well to send their management teams to stay here to see how it should be done. The staff in every department take a pride in what they do and always with a smile and a can-do approach. Nothing is too much trouble. The public areas and up to date, well serviced rooms are all spotless, comfortable beds and a wide choice of excellent food at all mealtimes. The recent Christmas and New Year were fine examples of everybody pulling together to give a really good guest experience. A wholehearted welcome, plenty of very good food, an interesting programme of events and visits to choose from or other things to do if that was not your thing. Just in case of doubt, we enjoyed our stay and cannot wait to return!

The perfect place to stay for a Christmas break. All staff were very welcoming and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Excellent itinerary. The room was very spacious, clean and comfortable. Excellent menu choice. Would highly recommend.

Returned to De Havelet hotel many times. The service and food is faultless despite the difficulties in obtaining staff.. thanks to Brexit!! The hotel is used by the local population always a good sign. Rooms are comfortable with excellent housekeeping. The pool area is excellent,jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. The hotel is situated up a fairly steep incline. However, the walk into town is good. It's all downhill! A return hotel bus service is provided for the less fit. Overall a very enjoyable experience.

We had a long weekend just before Christmas to visit some friends. We booked at de Havelet mainly as it was in our price range but we had called in there on a previous trip to the island. We were so pleased that we had booked it. Everything was perfect, oh, except the walk back up from the town (only joking).

Excellent hospitality, service and cleanliness from arrival. All of the staff were very attentive, engaging and accommodating to changes in circumstances (i.e. a late flight arrival) Highly recommended

You would have to look.far and wide to find a better run hotel. Reception, Restaurant, and Public areas all kept immaculate by friendly happy staff. Rooms are impressive, large and very modern, yet retaining original features. The lounge by the open fire is very relaxing. Pool and spa kept clean and inviting. Wifi is quick and works well. The view from restaurant is one of the best in Guernsey. Breakfast is amazing, healthy choices and sweet treats or a full English available. I reccomend the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. Can easily walk into St Peter's Port, get a taxi if you cant manage the hill. Spend time to relax and unwind at the best hotel in Guernsey. You wint regret it.

very nice view, hotel is great and staff is accommodating, you can see the port from restuarant too. Breakfast is ok and fresh, ....it is fairly central to most things, by the way Guernsey is not that big.

The hotel was amazing. We were upgraded to a suite as it was our 30 wedding anniversary. The staff were very friendly and there was a very happy atmosphere. The food was incredible and we would highly recommend the hotel to friends and family. The pool etc was lovely. Thank you for making our time in Guernsey memorable.

For a second time we decided to take a staycation at the Hotel de Havelet. Havving received high recommendations from us fro our first stay. we decided to revisit. What a pleasure our stay was. The greeting and welcome to the hotel given by the receptionist was lovely. The room was enormous, spotlessly clean as was the en suite bathroom.The restaurant staff and food was of the highest quality.I would hichly recommend a stay at this hotel.

An amazing place to stay. I was on a business trip and it felt so great to come back to the hotel - the staff are friendly, the rooms are comfortable and it was so great to relax in the spa area. I'll be back soon!

A very clean, friendly and hospitable place to stay. Service extremely good. All staff work hard to ensure you have a comfortable stay. Any questions were resolved quickly. Beautiful setting overlooking the sea. Well placed for the town and all other amenities.

We had room 19, it was spacious and clean and quiet. The hi-lite was the shower bath that provided really hot water with a proper mixer. The hotel has a lovely drawing room and lounge. Breakfast was exellent with both cooked and cold available included with our room. The hotel is quite near the city centre and bus station. There is a hefty hill to climb to get up to the hotel from the seaside but there is alternative routes that make it more gentle. The unexpected bonus was the free tour of the Island via minibus, hightly recommend this trip.

So many positives for the De Havelet. Very pleasant and helpful staff. Good sized comfortable room, well appointed, a basket of fresh fruit and plentiful tea, coffee etc supplied everyday. Excellent, good quality choices on breakfast menu, portions extremely generous ( bordering on huge) . The Copenhagen restaurant was available for meals lunchtime and evening with comprehensive menu. Ample parking in hotel grounds, a rarity in St Peter Port Very pleasant spa area, decent sized pool for a proper swim. Overall the hotel is well maintained and spotlessly clean. Walk up to hotel from St PeterPort is steep but hotel does have a shuttle bus service several times a day. Would certainly stay at DeHavelet again when visiting Guernsey

The staff at this hotel could not do more to help and make sure you have a good stay. I get the impression they are mostly trainees but they are trying so hard. The rooms are very well appointed if a little dated. The views from the hotel are beautiful and it is only a short walk to the town. Do not choose this hotel if you are not able to walk up a steep hill. There's is a shuttle bus though but it is mostly in the mornings. The only criticism of the hotel is that the public areas don't look very lived in. They could do more to make them feel more welcoming as they are not unpleasant.

This is a very well presented hotel, with friendly staff and good food in the restaurant. The room was spacious with a comfortable bed. A nice box of teas, coffees and chocolates was available too. Overlooking the courtyard was fine.

Another excellent stay at the Hotel De Havalet! This is a stunning hotel, fantastic location and so comfortable. Yes, it's on a rather large hill, but the location is quiet and has lovely views. The staff are excellent, so friendly and they cannot do enough for you. The rooms are very comfortable, great beds, very clean, with lots of nice extras. There is also a wonderful pool area. The on site restaurant also does fabulous meals and breakfast. We cannot wait to return again:)

We have just returned from a week at the Hotel. It is brilliantly situated for the town with excellent bus routes nearby to take you to all ends of the island. The staff were all welcoming and helpful. The rooms were extremely clean and comfortable. The food was great and they make a mean cocktail too. Nothing was too much trouble and other than a rather steep walk up the hill we couldn't have asked for more. Thanks to all the team there for looking after us so well. We have family locally so will definitely be back to stay in the future.

Not sure how many times we have stayed here(Shall have a check). Like most/all hotels a lot depends on who else is staying in ajoining rooms and above. Our room was good and had no problems but above there were a few creaky floorboards. For the first few nights there were what appeared to be heavy persons above. There was a lot of walking about and back and forward. Room cleaning and replacement of used items could not be faulted. Reception and staff for breakfast and the bar were always excellent and a mention for Alessia behind the bar who especially made a hot chocolate with cream and Marshmellow for my wife. Also trainee Alex. If walking there are several ways to and from the hotel but they all involve a hill climb which gets steeper as you age. There is a shuttle bus available at certain times.

If you've read our previous reviews, you'll see that this is the hotel that my husband and I always return to. We've tried others but they DO NOT meet the standards of the Hotel de Havelet. We're always welcomed warmly by everyone. We often comment about the "front of house staff" in reviewing the hotel, it is with oversight that the behind the scene staff are very seldom mentioned, so in this review I'll try to make amends. The housekeeping team ensure that rooms are cleaned to a very high standard and that the rooms remain comfortable. The team in the kitchen work extremely hard to provide well cooked/presented food. The maintenance team also work hard whether it's sorting a problem in the room or keeping the hotel's gardens looking spick and span. There is a shortage of staff on Gerunssey in general due to BREXIT etc., everyone at the hotel is working harder to ensure that your stay is perfect and this is appreciated. This is the only hotel that when we've made a request the answer has always been yes. We've looking at returning in May 2023 for our next fix of Hotel de Havelet. Hope they're not booked up!

We paid extra for a room upgrade but we're given a room in the old part of the hotel which was very, very tired and if the truth be told a little depressing. Rooms have no soundproofing and every noise in the next rooms and the creaking of the floorboards in the corridors can be heard. This was somewhat disappointing as our friends had been given one of the refurbished rooms. When we mentioned this to the receptionist our comments were brushed aside with a wave of the hand and “it's an old house”. Perhaps the hotel should offer a discount the rooms in the “old house”. Some hope. The bed was large and comfy. Breakfasts excellent. We might return, but not if we were offered a room in the “old house” (sarcasm intended)

This is a top of the range Best Western hotel. Big,comfortable beds, spotless bathroom, excellent breakfasts. On top of that, charming staff. The hotel is understaffed at the moment (a problem in Guernsey for lots of firms) so they are having to work extremely hard to cover the gaps. Not that you would know it with lots of friendly smiles. Luca and the rest of dining room and bar staff were great. This was our first visit but we noted a lot of repeat customers so Havelet is clearly getting it right

We have never been disappointed with Best Western. This hotel is in a quiet area, elevated from the sea front. A bit of a hill to climb but sports a lovely view. The accommodation was spotless and the breakfasts excellent. All helped by lovely attentive and happy staff. Sporting a lovely pool to complete a relaxing holiday.

Booked Guernsey for our first post-Covid holiday by plane. Hotel de Havelet was booked by the travel company as our choice was unavailable. What a relief as this turned out to be, an excellent hotel. The staff are friendly, efficient, and helpful. Our room was well appointed and included a fan which was useful as the nights were warm. Breakfast was well organised with buffet style cereals/continental and hot food cooked to order. The restaurant needed to be booked for an evening meal, the menu was suitable for all tastes and the food delicious. Restaurant staff are lovely, welcoming, amusing, caring, efficient well trained by Luca. Although the de Havelet is up a reasonably steep hill there is a courtesy bus every day (except Sunday) and Mick the driver most helpful in dropping off at relevant points - bus terminus or harbour. All in all we had a lovely holiday.

A very comfortable stay, staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Hotel was spotlessly clean and in an excellent condition. Breakfast included for us and had everything you could want. Bedroom and bathroom all appeared well looked after and were cleaned daily to a very high standard.

Somewhat uphill from the town this hotel has a decent indoor pool. Breakfast was good with usual range of cooked and cereal etc. Dinner is like so many places in Guernsey...Good , hearty and well done if not quite haute cuisine. Lunch limited due to the universal staff shortage. Staff all good and helpful.

A thoroughly enjoyable stay. Beautiful surroundings, friendly and helpful staff, a great room and health suite. Definitely recommend getting the fresh fruit basket it was delicious. We have already spoken about returning next year.

Another lovely holiday at Hotel de Havelet in Guernsey. All the staff worked really hard to provide a great experience and make you feel welcome. Food was excellent. Will be back again for another stay in 2023!

Really good value hotel, nice property with gardens and indoor pool. Jacuzzi was nice too and room was spacious and comfortable. Staff were friendly and professional. Really good location, short walk to St Peter Port, although the restaurants on site were fantastic so no need to leave if you dont want to.

We stayed here for four nights and loved the location, the restaurant, the hugely professional but personal service (which is a credit to the manager as the standards were uniformly high in all aspects of the hotel at all times, fantastic achievement and not easy.) We were going to eat elsewhere but it was a pleasure to come back and eat in a relaxed manner at the end of the day in the hotel, which is what we did. To be fair some dishes hit the spot for us and others didn't but that's life. The veal escalope was fantastic for example but the seafood linguini seemed to be cooked in a strong tomato paste so that was all that could be tasted. Breakfasts were good with a great choice. Coffee also good. Lovely cocktails. On the rooms, ours was nice and big and clean and quiet but I have some advice for room bookers. In our room the shower was in the bath, which is normally fine by me, but the side of the bath was very high. I am 5' 11" and had some difficulty climbing in and out of it. Also most rooms do not have aircon (60% I believe) so you must request on booking if you need/ want it. Also, there are no lifts and if you have mobility problems you will need to ask for ground floor. There are steps coming in and out of the hotel (it is a pretty old Georgian house) so again be aware if mobility is an issue. Also good in this hotel is the free and sufficient parking. The views across from the terrace behind the restaurant are lovely. The grounds are gorgeous with a lovely seating area, with well tended flowers and shrubbery, in front of the main door with a view over to the sea. We understand the hotel is going through a process of modernisation and from our experience our room would benefit from that. Nevertheless its a 5* for us overall because this hotel does what many hotels aspire to do but do not quite do - it gave us a peaceful, relaxing holiday at a value for money price. We would definitely go back again.

The hotel and the staff were fantastic, friendly with excellent personal skills. The facilities were great, it just made for a great experience. Highly recommend, if you could flatten out the hill before we come again it would be appreciated!!!!! Thanks for a wonderful few days.

We stayed at the Hotel de Havelet from 4 to 8 August 2022 and it was excellent. Every aspect of the Hotel is superb especially the staff who provide magnificent and friendly customer care. Nothing is too much trouble. The Reception was excellent; the rooms were air conditioned, spacious, well equipped and impeccably clean including the shower and toilets; the rooms were serviced each day; the swimming pool, steam room and sauna were welcome, clean and ideal; and the internal and external lounges, gardens and grounds around the hotel are the nicest I have ever seen. All this is a tribute to the hard working and friendly team of staff in all areas. The Copenhagen bar and grill has such a nice atmosphere with a superb good value menu/meals in a perfect atmosphere, expertly run by Luca, Atila and the team. The trainee, Alex and all the chefs/waiters and bar team were brilliant. The breakfasts were also top class with an extensive cold buffet and cooked meals served. Thank you to all the staff, we will return again.

This is a wonderful hotel in a beautiful Building in a quiet area of town. The experience was that of staying in a stately home rather than a conventional hotel. The staff are quietly efficient at keeping everything in running order, and the pool and spa facilities provide a quiet haven of relaxation. We dined at the Copenhagen restaurant which is on the hotel grounds. The food was excellent as was the view of the harbour. Thoroughly recommend

From beginning to end our stay was excellent. All members of staff we met were friendly, approachable and efficient. Our room was clean, comfortable, serviced and the goodies were replenished daily. The breakfast menu was wide and varied as were the evening menus. All the hot food was well cooked and all dishes well presented. If we return to Guernsey we will definitely use the De Havelet.

Great hotel. We were well looked after, from the welcome and the helpful reception staff, to housekeeping. The pool, sauna and gardens we're lovely, and the grounds and lounges also great. The only downside is that step hill! Although the gentle route via Hautville was much easier. And the shuttle bus was available...

The hotel is lovely, staff friendly and helpful. Hotel is clean and well decorated with everything you could want in room, fruit, towelling robes, drinks. Nice swimming pool with lovely garden with sun beds in right beside it. Food in restaurant was very good, service excellent. It is also very handy having a courtesy bus as it is up a rather steep hill, this is the only down point about hotel but at least it is easy to obtain cabs to take you back up the hill. Also being situated where it is there is parking whereas if you had hotel in town there is not much parking.

Even though I was only here for 1 night, what I experienced was very good, the room was large airy and comfortable with ac. I ate in the Copenhagen Grill Bar and the food was very good and reasonably price. The staff and service were excellent throughout. And the view overlooking the bay top notch.

It has been a complete pleasure to have stayed at this fabulous hotel. The hotel is set away from the hustle and bustle of St.Peter's Port but still provides easy access to the towns facilities by foot (it is at the top of a steep hill so descent is easier than ascent!) or using the complimentary hotel minibus that runs regular service to the town, port and sister hotels. The views are amazing as is the swimming pool, restaurants, gardens, lounges and bedrooms. All offering guests everything you might expect plus a little bit more. However it is the staff that make the De Havelet extra special. All of whom are very courteous, smiley, helpful. Nothing was ever too much trouble. The complimentary island tour that is offered to guests twice a week was an unexpected joy. The driver was amazing, very informative and shared his love and knowledge of the island with us. Thank you for making our week in Guernsey so special

Really surprised, in a good way, how good this hotel was. We arrived well before our check in time and left our cases before exploring St Peter Port. Our room was excellent and looked newly decorated , shower was great. Very comfortable bed and fresh fruit everyday. Breakfast was good and there was a varied choice of hot food. All the staff were helpful and friendly. Had a great break and would definitely stay again

This is a lovely hotel. It's on a hilltop with superb views. The Food was good and staff were very friendly. Room was kept spotless and cleaned daily. Tea & coffee facilities were topped up and the chocolate mints were a nice touch . The man who drove the hotel bus was very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. We would thoroughly recommend a visit

An excellent established hotel overlooking St. Peter Port harbour with a superb Staff. Great attention to details especially with the daily housekeeping. Perfect breakfast with everything you could wish for. Very informative complimentary minibus tour of the island runs twice a week with charming local driver. Would have liked the twice daily town shuttle to run more often as the uphill walk to the hotel is steep.

My wife and I had booked a superior double room for 6 nights bed & breakfast at the Hotel de Havelet in Guernsey. We had taken our small car on the Condor Ferry (Commodore Clipper) from Portsmouth, arriving at 16.00 at the quay in St Peter Port. It was only a 5 minute drive to the Hotel, which was easily found. The extensive parking facility at the hotel made things simple and very convenient. The welcome at the Hotel, from Kati and Lydia on reception was first class, with full details provided to us of all the facilities. We were shown to our room by Lydia. Lydia subsequently telephoned half-an-hour later to our room to ask if all was satisfactory. We were impressed with this service. As it is a relatively small hotel, taking our cases from the car park into the hotel was very simple and convenient. The superior room was spacious, as was the en-suite bathroom. Slip-on towelling shoes and robes were provided. These were ideal for using when accessing the indoor swim pool. The pool is open from 7:00 am to 9:00 pm daily. Towels are provided free-of-charge. The small pool is adequate for standard swimmers, and has both step and ladder entry points. The water temperatures were perfect, and there was no issue with over-chlorination. In addition to the pool there is a standard sauna and also a steam room facility. A pool-side shower is provided for both pre-swim showering and for sauna users for cold douche purposes. Up some steps from pool-side are ladies' and gentlemen's changing rooms, with hooks and benches for clothing and towel robes; also, there is an additional shower for hair shampooing and body washing, plus a toilet and wash hand basin. After swimming, there is also a spin-dryer by the pool desk for drying out wet swim trunks and costumes. Eating in the Hotel was a pleasure. Outstanding service at breakfast in the Wellington Boot restaurant, and for dinner in the evening at the Copenhagen restaurant. The facilities were immaculately clean and tidy, and the waiting staff were particularly smart in their dress and manners, friendliness and helpfulness. The menus were varied and the food was of a high standard. The experience was most enjoyable. Elsewhere in the hotel, the lounge facilities were very welcoming and guests could avail themselves of a computer and printer facility, if required. The public rooms in the property were of a comfortable classic style. The terrace area at the front of the property had fashionable tables/chairs/sun-shades and colourful flower pots decked the surrounding walls, providing a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere. Views from this terrace, and from the Copenhagen & Wellington Boot restaurants, of the sea bays, Castle Cornet and the neighbouring island of Herm were most attractive. Residents could use the complementary hotel bus facility to access different local places in and around St Peter Port. All-in-all we enjoyed a very satisfactory holiday, mostly as a result of this charming hotel.

I had a short break with a good friend and stayed in this well-positioned hotel just outside St Peter Port. Whilst the road route was very windy and narrow, it was well worth the driving effort, the hotel was very comfortable and the food delicious. The staff were very friendly and helpful, making our stay enjoyable.

Excellent hotel, we stayed for 7 nights. Stand out experiences were the quality of the housekeeping and extras in the room which included fruit, soft drinks, mints all topped up daily. The pool was not busy, is a decent size for exercise and also includes a jacuzzi and Sauna. The breakfast and view from the Wellington restaurant was excellent Friendly and helpful staff plus a complimentary Island tour made it great.

Stayed for the second time in 12 months. We are returning guests and would highly recommend this hotel. Close enough to the town centre with all its' amenities but far enough away to sit and relax in peace and quiet and not to be disturb by noise. The hotel offers excellent choices of food and alcoholic beverages. The rooms are very comfortable with good quality mattress's and pillows. Bed linen changed regularly. All the staff are very accommodating. We stay at this hotel on a regular basis and always pleased that we can get a booking. would really wish to stay anywhere else

We stayed in this hotel for a family wedding which was held on the terrace overlooking the bay - it is just beautiful. The hotel itself has lovely bedrooms, plenty of lounging space indoor and outside, the leisure facilities are excellent and the breakfast room and restaurant are both beautiful, the food is excellent. The staff are all very good and work very hard - it is one of the best hotels I have stayed in

Another great holiday in Guernsey at the Hotel de Havelet and Copenhagen restaurant. The tight-knit team work tirelessly to make your stay memorable. Everyone is friendly and helpful and although there are Brexit-related staffing shortages evident across the whole Island, the team work extra hard to ensure guests receive the usual high standards the hotel is famous for. Breakfasts are back to being served in the Wellington Boot Restaurant with its stunning views across to Castle Cornet, Herm and France. There is a great choice of hot and cold food - all prepared to perfection. Lunches and dinners are served in the Copenhagen Bar and Grill where you can choose from a two or three-course set menu (changes mid-week) or from the a la carte. Everything is cooked and presented well and there were easily enough great choices to allow us to eat what we wanted for the week. The fondu was especially good and a nice change. Half-board is no longer offered, but this meant we didn't feel like we had to eat everything on the menu because we'd paid for it, but could pick and choose to have a starter or dessert as we felt like. Rooms were clean, comfortable and well-equipped and our superior room had fresh fruit and soft drinks daily. Any breakdowns (like the heated towel rail) were repaired straight away. The mattress was a bit hard for our ageing bones, so perhaps the option of a mattress topper to complement the choice of pillows could be considered? The pool, sauna and jacuzzi are a fabulous way to use calories or to relax before dinner and the temperature of the pool was perfect. No matter if the staff are management, reception, restaurant, maintenance or housekeeping, the desire to make your stay perfect is second nature. Everyone is genuinely friendly and helpful and a credit to themselves and to the hotel.

The hotel has pleasant rooms, and there is a lovely outside space with gardens and a view of the sea. The service is always good with friendly and professional staff. It is quite isolated, but only a 15 minute walk to the town centre.

The restaurant has good food and the staff are pleasant. The hotel room walls (specifically room 15) were paper-thin and I could hear absolutely everything going on next door machine and outside, including coughing, the pool cleaning and slamming doors at 6am on a Saturday. The hotel receptionist's reaction was that I should have said something earlier. I didn't have faith any other room would be any better and frankly the hotel design isn't my responsibility. Insist on a quiet room if you stay. I note the hotel appears to have no disabled access.

The staff, restaurant, accommodation, pool and spa facilities all exceeded expectations. Location is beautiful, with sea views but be aware it is on top of a steep hill. However there is a free shuttle bus service into town. Would definitely recommend to anyone considering visiting Guernsey.

We have visited the de Havelet for more than 15 years. After Covid restrictions were lifted we returned in April 2022. The excellent key members of staff have remained and the facilities have continued to be maintained and updated. So again we were served by people who put the guest first, are friendly and always helpful without being over- familiar, a difficult balance. Food, facilities and service are top notch. This is justifiably one of the highest rated hotels on the island and rarely disappoints. Highly rated for service, facilities, food and, above all, staff competences. Those with limited mobility should be aware the hotel is situated a couple of hundred metres up a steep hill from the sea front. However there is a frequent courtesy bus providing travel to the sea front, bus station, downtown and other facilities.

This hotel was first class based on its facilities and proximity to the centre of St Peter Port. Reception staff were extremely helpful too and the courtesy bus into town / ferry port is an added feature.

We stayed at Hotel de Havelet to celebrate our anniversary and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves from beginning to end. Our room was a superior king and it was bright, airy & exceptionally clean. The bathroom was modern and there was a lovely basket of fruit provided in the room too. We enjoyed the spa facilities, however there aren't many loungers to sit on in there so it's better to go when it's not so busy. This is one second stay here and we'll definitely be back.

My partner & I stayed for few nights and really enjoyed the experience. We were staying at the rooms towards the rear of the hotel, ground level and there was quite some noise transferred from room above. Room itself was very welcoming, clean & well equipped. Nice shower though the bathroom was a touch cold (& has a lamp outside immediately adjacent to the small window which is surprisingly bright in the bathroom at night). Staff were all very friendly & helpful and both restaurant bar / breakfast room were both very recommendable. I would certainly return though I'd perhaps try to steer room location better.

This hotel was way better than I could have imagined. Exceptionally clean and all the facilities were maintained to a very high standard. The food was delicious. The location has incredible sea views but you don't get those fantastic views without being on a hill so if you don't use a car (which we didn't) you certainly need to be fairly fit but we wanted to do lots of exercise anyway so it was fine for us. The best bit about the hotel was the staff - they were the friendliest and most helpful staff we have ever had the pleasure to encounter - they could not do enough for us and they seemed like a big happy family who genuinely enjoy helping people and running a well-oiled machine. And the pool, sauna, steam room and hot tub were fantastic (with free use of towels) and a bathrobe was available to hire for £5 for entire stay which was well worth it.

Family stayed over to celebrate our parents 50th wedding anniversary. Staff could not have been more attentive. Food brilliant and so was the overall atmosphere during the stay. Would definitely stay here again

Could not have been more pleased with this hotel. The front desk was very accommodating, even let us check in early and upgraded our room. The room was lovely, bed comfy, and sparking clean. The only thing I would caution about is that this is not a hotel for anyone with mobility issues, as everywhere there are stairs and thresholds. Also, it is on a long, steep hill, which makes for terrific views, but a challenging walk in to town.

Good location in St Peters Port allowing access to town and its facilities. Although out of season the sun terrace was a welcome "sun trap". Room had all the requirements we wanted - especially comfortable bed mattress. Staff were really helpful and seemed genuinely pleased to help. Copenhagen restaurant was excellent and well used by locals as well. Not to forget the indoor swimming pool which provided a welcome break at end of day.

A lovely welcome by Kati and her colleague in reception set the tone for an amazing overnight staycation. Every member of staff we met were friendly and great at their job. The Hotel is lovely with good sized rooms, a lovely leisure suite and gardens. The terrace was a great place to relax in the sun and Alessia looked after us really well. Dinner at Copenhagen was superb. The restaurant was very busy but our food was excellent. Breakfast was served up in the Wellington Boot restaurant and we had a beautiful view across to Castle Cornet and the sea beyond. Again, the quality of the breakfast was very good. Overall a wonderful stay that we would be keen to repeat.

Stayed for a long weekend. Arrived earlier than check in time but made very welcome. Sat on the terrace with fantastic elevated view of harbour and castle. Had special of the day, recommended local crab sandwiches washed down with a few drinks. Breakfast also excellent quality food. Yes you have to walk into and out of town via a steep hill, road works also mean there presently is one road to it from the harbour at present But it is worth it. Felt very relaxed and we'll attended to. Staff in my opinion have a masterclass in customer service. Really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back.

Having been sorely disappointed by the Duke of Normandie hotel, we checked out and came here for 2 nights instead. Best move we ever made. The staff are first class, accommodating, friendly and nothing too much trouble. Pool and jacuzzi are great. Restaurant is fine, breakfast is very good and the setting and views over St Peter Port is lovely. We had a superior king room and it was first class with some nice touches. Its a bit of a climb up from town, but only around 10 mins walk. Highly recommended.

Little touches like Prosecco in the room and the receptionist checking we were happy with our room along with an exceptional meal and welcoming staff made our stay an enjoyable one. We used the pool and spa which made for a very relaxing stay

Perfect holiday break with staff who dedicated themselves to ensuring nothing was too much trouble. The junior staff in particular were so friendly , kind and always had smiling faces even in todays world circumstances wonderful young people.

We have just come home from a week's stay at this lovely hotel. We have visited many times before and always receive a great welcome. The room we stayed in was superb, very clean and spacious. Fresh fruit and water supplied every day. Whatever you require the staff are there to help you. The food in the Copenhagen restaurant is excellent. Great choice of menu and very attentive service. We will be going back again.

Having read the reviews on the hotel, which came top of the class, I was intrigued to discover why. I now know, its the staff. To say they couldn't do enough, and do enough in a bight and courteously would be playing it down. The hotel was clean, the food excellent both breakfast and dinner, and all reasonably priced. A tip, prepay the breakfast, its outstanding value that way. Thank you for a great long weekend.

was a lovely oldie world hotel with a very nice bijoux spa with very relaxing lovely kind staff. The hotel offers a great breakfast with lots of choice there is great outside areas with an amazing view.

This was a perfect place for us to stay. We liked the charm of the old house and our room was modern, well appointed, spacious and comfortable. There were also lots of goodies for guests (fruit and abundant tea, coffee and biscuits) which we appreciated. Hotel has great views from the restaurant and front facing rooms and is an easy walk into town. Coming back up the hill is more challenging but good to burn calories. The restaurant was also first class. We had an outstanding breakfast and there was a good choice of foods on the menu. The staff were also incredibly friendly which made the stay so much more enjoyable. All in all I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel and we will definitely return.

A wonderful stay at The De Havelet. Our room was perfect and we were glad we went for the superior room. It was beautifully presented and the daily basket of fruit was a lovely addition. We ate in the restaurant twice and had fabulous meals each time. Every single member of staff we came in contact with offered fantastic customer service and were so friendly. The pool facilities were great and we were able to use them every day (timing carefully to avoid peak times as it's not a huge area). Our only disappointment was missing one night due to delayed travel as a result of the recent storms but that wasn't the fault of the hotel! We travel to Guernsey frequently and will definitely stay here again.

The Hotel De Havelet is a beautiful place to stay. We stayed for 3 nights for a friends wedding and it was a great base. The hotel itself is lovely and all the staff were extremely friendly and more than accomodating for our group of 8.

The room appeared lovely when you first entered but there was a lot of cracks in the walls and filler in places. The room was very hot even with the radiators turned off and when you open the windows all you could hear was the water features. The shower was powerful but extremely noisy so couldn't use it without waking up my partner. The swimming pool area was lovely and clean.

I had to move this booking forward by a week due to needing to return back to the UK early. The bookings team were exceptionally accommodating. On arrival all the staff were pleasant friendly and professional. The room although small was exceptionally clean and comfortable and served its purpose. I would recommend this hotel

Can not speak to highly of havlet hotel or Copenhagen restaurant staff exceptional food superb pool etc lovely a proper hotel were the guests come 1st breakfast can not be beaten only slight whinge is I prefer plain pork sausages but that's me being very very picky

This is an incredible hotel with wonderful staff and amazing staff my room was comfortable and the pool was fabulous I will have a longer stay next time and this is definitely my go to first choice for whenever I visit Guernseu

Overall it was a perfect stay at the Hotel. Room was very, very clean and tidy. All the staff were friendly and polite. Receptionist after checking in showed me to the room, only had breakfast there but again, the service was impressive. To name one employee Jason (Trainee) at breakfast gave really good service.

The hotel was chosen for convenience but actually was a perfect place to stay and I look forward to staying again. Relaxing, clean, pleasant stay. Staff are friendly and the other guests had good things to say about their experience. The room was well catered and comfortable to sleep.

Only stayed over night but had a good time. Room 20 a suite room on ground floor has own entrance , really spacious, well lit with a excellent walk in shower as well as a bath. Restaurant food very good, had breakfast and a la carte evening meal.

I booked this Best Western Hotel de Havelet based on the excellent reviews, for a very special birthday celebration for my wife. We have stayed in many 5 star hotels but this exceeded them all! Only one word fits: outstanding. The hotel is furnished to the highest standard, with perfect workmanship, superb location, the highest standard of cleanliness, the most curtesy staff who went out of the way to provide an incredible experience. The food was as you like: perfect. As for the room, well! Comfortable bed, more tea, coffee and biscuits than you could consume care of the 'clipper' brand. etc etc. Returning to our room on my wife's birthday was a bottle of bubble and fresh strawberries, such thoughtfulness. The indoor pool my wife advised was equal to any top Hotel. What more can I say, this will be a celebration we will never forget. Such helpful staff, nothing too much trouble. Exceptional value for £ for the inclusive Xmas package. Nice swimming/jacuzzi area. Massive meal portions! The activities further helped to make the stay fly by.

Another lovely stay for ten days over Christmas! This was our 14th visit to this hotel and 5th visit at Christmas/new year. As usual it was great value with excellent food and activities. The Christmas Day lunch and evening buffet were excellent. We will be back next year, as always, for our annual summer trip.

We had a superb break at the De Havelet. The hotel has a great location, with a stunning view out over the castle. The room was comfortable, spacious and- as with the entire hotel- spotlessly clean. The housekeeping staff keep it looking great. The hotel itself is cosy, warm and (at this time of year) beautifully festive. The comfy lounge with open fire was a lovely, unexpected touch. Breakfasts were generous, and the restaurant menu was imaginative, extensive and fairly priced- we never had a meal that we didn't enjoy. We chose the hotel largely due to the spa facilities, which were clean, quiet and well kept- they did not disappoint. The hotel delivers on all fronts, without any ostentation. It's unfussy, comfortable and fresh-looking; there isn't anything I would highlight as needing improvement. What shines above all else though are the hotel employees. Service was efficient and competent, but informal and exceptionally friendly. This was true of everyone we interacted with from the restaurant to reception to housekeeping. After a no doubt hard year, you might expect hospitality staff to be jaded, but we didn't find that at all. Lots of hospitality venues have friendly, competent staff but somehow at De Havelet the employees take it to the next level. Special credit goes to Marina on the front desk and Evdoxia on the restaurant, both who were memorably superb. We wouldn't consider stay anywhere else in Guernsey. Hope to be back!

Very good location, Ample parking, efficient friendly staff, pleasant restaurant , very comfortable bed. good breakfasts, Pleasant surroundings and amenities. Location is very accessible to St Peter port and only a short walk from the sea, all be it up hill on the way back.

Nothing was too much trouble for all the staff we encountered on our overnight stay. Health suite facilities were very good and food very excellent . Staff were friendly and informative. Only 5 mins walk from town but best to return to hotel via Hauteville if you are walking as the Havelet way is a very steep walk. Views are breathtaking towards Castle Cornet and neighbouring Islands.

We spent the night at The Havelet as it was my partner's birthday so we had a sort of “staycation”. Everything was perfect and exceptionally delivered. The professionalism of the restaurant manager (I think?) and each one of every colleague was amazing! We really had an amazing birthday. We will hopefully be back. Francesca

I'm from Guernsey and enjoyed a 'staycation' at Hotel De Havelet. Marina greeted us at reception and her smile and exceptional service stayed with us during our stay. Lovely staff throughout. The room we stayed in was much larger than anticipated and the bathroom was stunning. The hotel has so much history and charm and is a short stroll down the hill to the very nicest part of St Peter Port. You have loads walks around you. Up to Fermain or turn right and right again and you're in Hauteville where Victor Hugo resided. His house is half way down. We dined at Copenhagen and food is very good for a hotel. Menu is imaginative and locally sourced. Even though it's on my doorstep so to speak, my partner and I had a great break. Can't recommend enough.

From the moment we checked in the staff couldn't have done more for us. Always with a smile. Our rooms were spacious with fantastic walk in showers and so clean. The meal in Copenhagen was brilliant, with 30 guests to serve it went like clockwork. Breakfast the following day was equally good. I have been coming to this hotel for 54 years and have never been disappointed. Well done to everyone.

From the second we arrived to our final breakfast the stay was perfect. Wonderful staff, great rooms, fantastic facilities, perfect location with amazing sea views. Looking forward to our return visit later in the year. Recommend the Copenhagen restaurant with brilliant service and food.

The views from the restaurant overlooking Cornet Castle are amazing. The hotel itself is clean and welcoming. The pool and steam room, sauna are a great addition and I had it to myself on 1 occasion which was lovely. Rooms are clean and spotless, comfortable beds and pillows too. Ate in the Copenhagen restaurant on the first night. Food was superb, service fantastic and all the staff were so attentive. Great wine menu too and the options for veggies / vegans was great so enough for everyone. Breakfast was very nice with lots of options. I have to say that ALL of the staff were fantastic - especially the reception staff, lovely greeting on arrival and throughout the stay. I will definitely be back - thank you to everyone who made my stay wonderful.

We have just returned from 2 nights at the hotel, and we can honestly say, it's one of the nicest hotels we have ever stayed in. Yes, the hotel is up a very steep hill, but it's only a 10 minute walk from the bus terminal and very easy to find. Check in was very quick and easy, and we were shown to our room by the lovely Marina. She is an absolute credit to the hotel, so welcoming and attentive. The room, number 22, was perfect. Really nice bathroom, lovely big bed, with a view over the courtyard. Lots of nice touches such a tea / coffee, biscuits, fruit, chocolate mints, water etc. We also had robes and slippers. We used the pool and sauna on the second day, a great way to spend a few hours. Both nights we had an evening meal in the Copenhagen restaurant, excellent food, great staff. I could not fault it. Breakfast in the morning was also very good, again we were looked after by some really nice members of staff. Laura deserve a a mention, for being so welcoming. We were sad to leave the hotel, and cannot wait to return. Thanks again!

Staff are really helpful. Room was nice. Swimming pool and facilities are good. Location seemed a bit out of town, until we discovered that turning right (up hill) took you easily back into heart of town. Nice and quiet, but our room was unfortunately above the pool which meant a lot of ealry morning noise and noisy people above us was also a bit disruptive. Not the hotel's fault, but an awareness that noise travels!

Only stayed for one night but it seemed like for ever. The superior king room was extremely comfortable, with all what could have been wanted in a 6* star hotel. The staff were professional but very friendly. We ate in the Copenhagen and it was lovely. Breakfast was again in the Copenhagen with enough to keep us going for the day. The staff are excellent -- all of them. Friendly and accommodating. This makes this hotel stand out. The restaurant serves a good range of dishes, all well cooked; in convivial surroundings. It is situated at the far end of the esplanade within easy walking distance of the town centre with great views over the bay and harbour. There's plenty of on-site car parking and the hotel runs a complimentary mini bus to various points round the town.

Stayed for a short family break. The rooms were very comfortable and large, and the pool and spa were fantastic. It's a short and very pretty walk into the centre of town and the staff were all amazingly welcoming. I would definitely recommend this hotel. We had dinner in the restaurant here (Copenhagen) as well and the food, service and ambiance were just perfect.

We returned to the Havelet and our stay again reinforced our opinion that this is a superb hotel to stay at. This year we treated ourselves to the Suite and it was truly fabulous and had the advantage of a private entrance with easy access to the pool/jacuzzi/sauna/steam room before breakfast. The breakfast this year was served in the Copenhagen Grill and just as in previous years the food was plentiful, of high quality, very tasty and well presented. What really makes this hotel excellent is the staff: who greeted us in a professional and friendly manner when we arrived; were very attentive and helpful in the restaurant and for which nothing was too much trouble. If was great to see Atilla and the restaurant manager again, and the uni sandwich student was impressive with her cheerful and helpful manner. Good staff is a reflection of good management and training. If you go there, you won't regret it, and if you have doubts, check the photos. As Arnie said, “we'll be back”. Thank you Gennaro

Having stayed a number of times but of course missed 2020 I will start with a couple of adverse comments. Usually cannot find any. Room 19 was above the pool and every morning usually about 6.20/30am there were doors banging several times with one a "repeater" double bang. Cannot remember this before having stayed in this room and maybe connected with the card entry system now in place. Although not really breakfast people it was always nice to take the view in The Wellington boot restaurant which was bright and cheerful. Copenhagen in comparison was very dark and had no external views. All the good things remain which are difficult to list. Very pleased to see the regular staff.Everything was always spot on in the room and if one item used it was spotted and replaced the room being properly cleaned every day. The free around the island trip is worth a go and after a few years we went this time. Ate a few times and found no fault with what was served except once and not charged for it. As we missed last year we are going again next Month.

Marina on reception went beyond the call of duty! Having falied after 30 attempts to get a 6.00am taxi so as to catch the early flight home , she volunteered to come to work early and take me tothe airport herself! Very much appreciated - thank you again

Excellent hotel in a quiet spot but still close to the centre of St Peters Port. Service was excellent with staff all very friendly and helpful. Good choice at breakfast and nicely cooked. The bar and grill restaurant is popular locally and provides a good range of food throughout the day., but a pity that the Wellington Boot restaurant was closed due to staff shortages.

We had eaten at the Copenhagen before and knew already knew how good it was, but had never stayed at the de Havelet before. From arriving onwards we found all the staff, from the reception, to the room service to be extremely polite, very friendly and helpful. The room was spacious, with good fittings. My wife swam daily in the pool and found the facilities very good there. The restaurant was as always very good, all the staff from Luca to all the table service could not have been better. It is in an excellent location with one of the best views in St Peter Port and we loved walking to and from the hotel. If not, the fact a courtesy bus is available is a real plus.

Over the past 20 years, we've stayed at this hotel eight times, sometimes bringing family and friends. This time, however, we were disappointed with our stay. To be fair, the newly upgraded room was comfortable and clean; we enjoyed the air conditioning, the fridge, the daily supply of water, biscuits, fruit and chocolate mints. We enjoyed using the swimming pool, sauna, steam room and comfortable sun loungers in the adjoining garden. The staff are helpful and friendly. We stayed at the hotel on a DBB basis. Big mistake! Before booking our room, we were told the usual guest Wellington Boot restaurant would be closed at times and meals would then be taken in the Copenhagen Bar and Grill. On booking our room, our invoice showed that all meals would be taken in the Bar and Grill. We were assured that the usual four course evening menu would be served. Breakfast was satisfactory, a cooked breakfast was served at your table, you chose your cold items from the 'continental' table. The dinner menu each day was appalling; very limited choice, poor quality and tasteless items, usually involving chips; fried foods were taken from the Bar and Grill menu and, on many occasions, we just didn't know what to choose. Little thought, if any, seemed to be given to the hotel guest menu; there was a distinct lack of fresh fish/meat or vegetables and the same choices were offered in different guises for each course, each day. For £250 each night, we expected much better food than this. So disappointed!

We stayed here for 2 nights and it was great! Wonderfully relaxing and incredibly friendly. A minor issue was corrected immediately by Marina who served us very well. We used the pool facilities which were great. Our room was very comfortable and there was really nothing we could fault. Breakfasts were lovely and very substantial! Our lasting memory however was the amazing, ‘over and above' service when we realised at the ferry terminal we'd left something behind. The manager got straight into his car and drove immediately to us at the port! Unbelievable service and we can't thank the team enough for their impeccable customer service! Thank you

My husband and I checked in early afternoon, We were taken to our room and given information about the facilities the hotel offered etc. Our room was lovely and fresh and clean with easy access to everything, We made use of the pool complex which looked very well maintained and enjoyed an hour or so swimming and relaxing in the jacuzzi . Followed by a very pleasant evening meal in the Copenhagen restaurant.

A lovely clean hotel. Very polite staff. We checked in early to a lovely room. The pool was good, a little cold but still nice. Great access into the main town. Plenty of parking of parking if needed. Staff were very happy to help us with booking electric bikes.

Stayed with my wife for 4 nights at the De Havelet and once again the experience was nothing short of excellent We had a room at the front of the property overlooking the harbour Which was very spacious and comfortable. The food here is top class . We ate here on 3 nights and could not fault the quality and attention to detail. Last night we had a seafood “ fruit de mare” which was sublime . Straight from the sea that day it was worth the cost. I ve never had better. Staff are very friendly ,professional and Very approachable. I have been to this hotel on many many occasions and apart from the steep climb to its gates this place cannot be faulted and I cannot recommend it highly enough. Oh I nearly forgot, I utilised the pool and steam rooms which which were small but during my daily visit totally uncrowned. Enjoy!

Very comfortable room ( # 34 ) although overpriced. Fresh fruit daily and a can of coke & schw lemonade in room. House keeping daily professionally executed with charm. Reception professional and charming. Restaurant serves amazing range of menu ( although obviously duck. Spare ribs and others were boil in the bag) but still well cóoked and presented. 2 restaurants now concentrated into one site due to staff shortage but still a 'buzz' of people enjoying their food. Parking on site, but locals fill spots at lunch time and evenings. All in all a most enjoyable 4 night stay in convivial Guernsey

Nice hotel staff excellent located on a Very steep hill but taxis cheap and easy to book if you can't manage it ! Nice garden area and indoor pool overall a very nice trip away in guernsey which we really liked

Stayed for 10 days at this lovely hotel and thoroughly enjoyed it. Room was comfortable, the bed was very firm which we appreciated a great deal. Maid service was excellent, the pool and jacuzzi were fabulous, and the location of hotel was great, very near the town. The only problem we had was on our first night we walked into the Copenhagen restaurant at 6pm to get an evening meal and was told by the restaurant manager that we should have booked even though the restaurant was totally empty. By the time we finished the meal approx an hour later, 90% of the tables were still empty. As owners of a restaurant ourselves, we would never turn away a paying customer when nobody was in the restaurant but of course we were dealing with a restaurant manager rather than an owner. So for the rest of the holiday we walked into town and found some fantastic restaurants who were more than happy to serve us.

The hotel was wonderful. it was positioned overlooking St Peter Point. The room was immaculate and every day we had fresh fruit, bottled water and cola replenished. The staff were a delight, friendly helpful and always smiling. The food in the Copenhagen restaurant was excellent, imaginative with good sized portions and always piping hot, again with helpful and smiling staff. The indoor pool was a bonus that we did not expect and after a day sight seeing it was relaxing to have a swim and enjoy a dip in the Jacuzzi. As the hotel was at the top of a hill, it was good for us older guests that a complementary minibus ran into the town 3 times a day. What a wonderful find, we will return

We stayed for four nights. The welcome was excellent as was the restaurant . Without exception the staff were cheery, attentive and extremely helpful. The hotel was well maintained and very clean. Can't comment on the pool and allied facilities because we didn't use them.

We SO missed our holiday at this exceptional hotel in 2020 - and we arrived a year late wondering if Covid would have had a detrimental effect on our enjoyment of our week away. We needn't have worried - everything about the De Havelet was its usual welcoming, friendly, efficient and brilliant self. Staff* - Helpful, friendly, professional, bend-over-backwards? Tick! Room - Clean, well-appointed, comfortable, TV + WiFi, fabulous walk-in shower? Tick! Bar - Great service, cocktail list, great atmosphere? Tick! Breakfast - Best selection of hot and cold meals and treats ANYWHERE? Tick! Restaurant Meals - Five course set menu, wide selection of a la carte, well cooked, very tasty, attentive and helpful staff, great atmosphere, great views? Tick! Check in and Reception - Nothing too much trouble, helpful, friendly, efficient? Tick! Pool and Gardens - Swimming pool, sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, loungers, clean, towels? Tick! Covid and Brexit have obviously had an effect on staffing, but the whole team went above and beyond - both for guests and each other - to make sure that absolutely nothing was going to spoil the party. The multi-award winning management and staff of this hotel are at the top of their game, with each and every one of them on a mission to make their guest's stay both perfect and memorable - creating lasting, treasured memories. *Reception closes at 10pm. While we were there, the hotel manager and bar manager waiting up until 1am for a guest who failed to arrive and hadn't been considerate enough to cancel.

This hotel is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. We stayed 3 nights in September and couldn't fault it. The suite we had was beautiful and luxurious (Room 20). The breakfasts were delicious and offered a very varied menu, as also was the food in the restaurant where we dined one evening. All the staff both on reception and in the dining room were very professional, attentive, friendly and very welcoming. The hotel grounds were very attractive and being elevated has a stunning vista. The hotel offers a courtesy bus service from the hotel into St. Peter Port at various times throughout the day and Mick the driver goes out of his way to be helpful and welcoming. The only ‘minor' drawback for us as a couple in our ‘twilight years' with joint problems is the hotel is situated at the top of a steep hill and although it has the advantage of a courtesy bus throughout the day this is not the case in the evening. N.B. Taxis also run throughout the day in St. P.P. at a reasonable cost. If you wish to go out in St. P.P. in the evening there is currently a shortage of taxi drivers and returning later could be problematic. For the less active person perhaps the answer could possibly be either hire a car or book half board. However, do not let this put you off staying at this wonderful hotel as it has a lot to offer and goes way beyond most hotels with regard to service and comfort.

We really enjoyed our holiday and our stay at this hotel. We were very well looked after. The food at this hotel is great and the menus are varied. The staff were very attentive and friendly. Our room was very comfortable. So, thank you to everyone who made this holiday very special for us.

A fabulous Hotel overlooking the Harbour of St Peters Port Breakfast was very good with fresh fruit , Continental & cooked option of your choice . We decided to eat there in the Evenings as we liked to go back after sightseeing in the afternoon, sunbathe in the Garden & go in for a Swim in the indoor pool Dinner was excellent with some unusual food on the menu . ie cheeses wrapped in Zucchini gently fried very nice Starter . Specials every day too Lovely room with shower over the Bath In hindsight we should have booked a ground floor room with a Walk in Shower as there isn't a lift & the Stairs are quite steep , for us in our later years You couldn't ask for better staff in all the departments There is a curtesy bus down into the port which you can use the many buses for £1 a single trip anywhere & the Hotel does a free Island tour one day a week At Present Guernsey is free of COVID so you have to do a tracker to go there & a test in your room every other day

This is our second stay here and we really enjoyed the good standard of accommodation, great restaurant, location but especially the wonderful staff who are genuinely looking to make your stay the best it can be. They were charming, delightful people. The rooms have everything you need, and our pre-travel request for a room with a bath was happily dealt with. The location is very quiet, you can walk into town easily (about 15 mins) as long as you don't mind a bit of a climb back up afterwards. Lovely terrace and views from the restaurant. Good swimming pool as well.

Great place to stay in Guernsey. Super friendly and helpful staff. Nice rooms, great restaurant and lovely grounds and swimming pool. Nice and quiet too being situated just a five minute walk up the hill from the waterfront. Great value, definitely recommend it.

Elegant hotel, with great staff and good food. Positioned on the hill overlooking St. Peter Port, so you need to be quite fit or use the provided shuttle taxi. But the position makes it very quiet at night.

Lovely to be back after missing last year due to Covid. We have been going to Guernsey annually for the last 18 years and apart from one occasion have always stayed at this hotel. Lovely rooms updated and refurbished over the years, excellent friendly service and dining of the highest quality, which are always maintained.Can never be faulted, and we always look forward to returning.

A warm welcome and excellent accommodation make this my favourite hotel on the Island. Breakfast overlooking the sea is a great way to start the day. Make sure you book in the Copenhagen (Hotel) Restaurant although don't miss out on Octupus only a 5 mins walk down the hill.

Just returned from a wonderful week at this gorgeous hotel.The staff here are amazing.Every single member of staff were so friendly, helpful, and extremely professional.Our room was beautiful, large ,clean with everything you might need and more! Breakfast was exceptional so much choice. Dinner was also fabulous , and the atmosphere was really relaxed, and friendly. Genaro, and his staff are an amazing team, and made us feel very welcome. We would return in a breath to this lovely hotel. Also a massive shout out to Mick the mini bus driver!!One of the nicest guys you could ever wish to meet, and went out of his way to assist us, and the other guests anyway he could, and always with a smile.

I spent a couple of nights at the De Havelet and really enjoyed the hotel, restaurant and grounds. The location is superb overlooking the harbour with a view to Castle Cornet (like much of St Peter Port, the hotel is on a hill!). The bedroom was spacious and well proportioned with good facilities. Breakfast and dinner was served in a separate building across from the main hotel. The quality of both breakfast and dinner was excellent and the staff very polite and unobtrusive. On site parking is available if needed.

The Room is good size with en-suite. Very clean and well maintained. Tea and Coffee in the room, plus a convenient fridge and a TV. Good size indoor heated pool and Jacuzzi. Sun loungers on the lawns. An outdoor courtyard with tables and chairs and fabulous view over to Herm. Close to Cliff paths for walking around east and south coast bays. Staff very welcoming. Good Quality Food was served by the Copenhagen Restaurant and bar. The hotel is near the top of a steep hill so can be challenging, if walking to and from town. However, the hotel puts on a mini bus several times a day to take guests down to town and back. We can certainly recommend this hotel.

Beautiful room, the pool was lovely, as were sauna and jacuzzi. Very welcoming staff. Easy to walk into town, but also equally nice just to spend time at this special hotel. The restaurant had such a nice atmosphere, though rather expensive the food was great.

Location: steep hill, not suitable for people with mobility difficulties. Use the back road to seafront as not so steep. The Hotel is about 10 mins walk from St Peter Port's bus station, which in Guernsey is known as the "Town Terminus", even on timetables. There are several buses from Airport to the "Town Terminus". Takes about 15 mins. It's the only town in the whole island. Every bus route on the island ends at the "Town Terminus". Room/hotel in general: spacious, clean, good natural light everywhere. Safe was on the floor of the wardrobe which we didn't like as we had to almost lie down to access it. Complimentary bottled water and fruit basket replenished daily. There is no air conditioning in rooms (at least the one we stayed, king size); we had to sleep with all windows opened (inc. bathroom). Computer and printer is available in the lounge free of charge for guests to use, very handy to print boarding passes. Nice outside space in front of the main entrance of the hotel with various types of seating areas (never crowded when we were there, mid July 2021). Very quiet residential area around the hotel. Restaurant/Bar: they advertise two restaurants but only the Copenhagen was open. There's a separate lovely outside space partly covered with views over to the sea and castle. The decor is very cosy and staff very friendly. Food is gourmet style and not good value for what you get, in my opinion. Portions are small, however, tasty and well prepared. For an island which prides itself on fresh fish/seafood we would expect more fish/seafood dishes, as opposed to just the usual fish fillets and pasta with crab/prawns. Desserts' selection is mostly chocolate or cheesecake based which I'm not a big fan of either. Breakfast is a small continental buffet whereby the waitress gives your choice of items due to Covid as we're not allowed to touch. Selection of rolls, fresh croissants and Danish pastries really good but small. Fruit juices from cartoon. No fresh fruit apart from fruit salad. You then order the hot food from the Menu which is pretty good, the usual English breakfast but also some healthy choices, such as salmon, avocado etc. On a bed & breakfast board you can choose whatever you like. The restaurant is always busy for dinner but as a guest they'll always find you a table. The bar is cosy and open until 00:30. One thing that is evident everywhere you go is shortage of staff in hospitality, especially in restaurants and hotels. They have recruitment posters for all sorts of positions everywhere. Apparently the locals don't want to work in hospitality. Hence why, the staff you see in this hotel and around are mostly Europeans (Portuguese, Italians, Hungarians, Latvians etc). They are reliable and hard working, which you can clearly see as you engage with them and are served. On one restaurant we had to return later to have dinner not because there were no tables but because there was not enough staff to cope with the demand. Pool/Garden: this is by far what makes this hotel a 4 star. We used the pool a few days. Some others did too but never felt crowded. The pool area is bigger than it seems from the pictures. Some sun loungers inside as well as outside which are spread out onto the beautifully maintained garden. There's plenty of space to have a quiet read or just soak up the sun. The pool water is not completely cold. There's also the jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. The pool area is not staffed but there's a rack with cleaned rolled towels for guests to pick as many as they want. Only guests can access the pool. Overall: we chose this hotel because of the pool facilities and for being within good walking distance of buses/boats/high street, and were not disappointed. Credit goes to all staff, especially to Xia (waitress), Attila (Restaurant Manager, not sure of the spelling) and the Latvian Receptionist guy. Because of lack of staff everyone helps whenever necessary, including the General Manager and Duty Manager. Some suggestions for improvement: all staff should have their names displayed (not everyone had which is a pity because we might want to praise them and don't know their names); for a 4 star hotel you'd expect at least freshly squeezed orange juice for breakfast not from cartoon; and of course air conditioning! I think the high rates you pay to stay in this hotel more than offset these costs. On a final note: as there were zero Covid restrictions in the whole of Guernsey, i.e. no masks and no social distancing (including in the hotel), we felt we were back in 2019. It was extremely surreal having arrived from London and suddenly not seeing one single person during the whole week we stayed there wearing a face mask anywhere! Even at Guernsey Airport it was not compulsory to wear masks, only inside the plane. It gave us a (somehow nice) sense of freedom... albeit a strange one.

Recently stayed at this unique hotel. We had a great experience. The hotel was spotlessly clean. The room was spacious and comfortable. There was a nice leisure suite ( indoor pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna.) Beautiful garden with sun loungers. All meals were taken in the Copenhagen restaurant which we loved. All staff were so friendly and helpful. We throughly recommend and will return.

I had a 2-night stay here when visiting an old friend who has just moved to the island. He recommended this hotel and I must say it was fabulous. The rooms are spacious and well-equipped with excellent showers and large beds with quality bed linen. The lounge was very inviting as were the outdoor areas and the breakfast in the Copenhagen restaurant was top class. Added to all these facts that the general manager and his staff were all superb I recommend this hotel highly! Thanks to all concerned.

very clean and welcoming hotel, the resturant is a must visit for dinner and the breakfast is the best. Staff friendly nothing to much trouble nice outdoor area to sit in. Good postion for exploring the island.

So glad I decided on this hotel. I was finding it hard to decide between two but finally chose this one and am really pleased that I did. The location was excellent for us. Yes there is a steep hill, but the plus point is that it only takes a few minutes to walk down and you are on the seafront. We timed it going up and it was four minutes so not too bad! Once you are on the seafront it is just a few minutes walk to where all the buses stop so very convenient for getting around the island. The hotel itself is delightful. It has lovely gardens with various areas to sit or lie on a sunbed. We were in a newly refurbished room which was stylish with everything we needed. There was a great bathroom with a fabulous walk in rain shower. It was cleaned every day and the goodies were replaced. We booked direct with them as it was the best rate and there was a special offer of breakfast on us which made it good value. The breakfast was taken on the beautiful terrace in The Copenhagen Restaurant. This is a fabulous area, part undercover, part open, with a lovely view to the sea and castle. It was an excellent breakfast, with a buffet served by staff followed by a huge cooked breakfast served to your table. All staff seemed happy and were always smiling. We also had a meal in the restaurant one evening which was lovely. We also enjoyed using the inside pool, steam room and jacuzzi and had it to ourselves most times. Really enjoyed our stay and most definitely would stay here again. Highly recommended!

This hotel is one of the best in the best western group that I have ever stayed in! The staff are great, the restaurant is top notch, ant the pool and spa is really nice. The room was recently refurbished to a high standard, and came with a fridge and cafetière! Highly recommended

We liked the location of this hotel, as it is possible to walk into town yet it's nice and quiet. We used the indoor pool, hot tub, steam room and sauna every day. Copenhagen restaurant has really nice decor and was full on a Monday night. Our bedroom had been recently renovated and we were the first ones to stay in it.

Value for money, exceptionally friendly staff. Fantastic food. Great accommodation and facilities. Rooms spacious and very clean. Nice to have prosecco snd strawberries in room on arrival as part of staycation. Looking forward to going back

Outstanding hotel, made wonderful in particular by the General Manager Mr. Gennaro Festivo & his wonderful staff, who made us feel so welcome and looked after us on our first day of isolation. Front desk, restaurant Copenhagen and the Spa are exceptionally efficient. “Nothing is too much trouble.” Rooms were lovely and spacious and fresh fruit, water abs top up tea and coffee each day. My partner is vegan and the Chef and Kitchen accommodated this easily. She gave the chef a simple vegan pancake recipe and they were happy to make this each morning. Highly recommend a stay here.

We had an excellent 3 nights at Hotel de Havelet, thank you to all the staff for making it such a lovely experience. Breakfast was fab and the amenities were fantastic too- pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room, as well as the fridge in our hotel room, to pick out just some of the features Would definitely recommend and will be back soon!

A very welcoming and comfortable stay, friends joined me for dinner, the service and food were excellent, midweek stay so the hotel was wonderfully quiet - a bit of a shock to the system to go home! Would definately recommend Hotel de Havelet and Copenhagen Bar and Grill

This is a fantastic hotel. We had a very comfortable room.With the very best staff to make it a break to remember. The main hotel building is very old and beautiful. Our room and shower were very comfortable. The pool and jacuzzi were lovely and warm. My husband used the steam room. Gardens small but lovely amnd views incredible. Food in the restaurant for both dinner and breakfast wonderful. Only negative I cansee ightbe that it is ona steep hill..

having stayed before we were welcomed and checked in by the friendly receptionist we found our rooms to be clean and fresh. we got changed and went for a lovely swim in the heated pool with jacuzzi, showers and changing room . our evening meal was very tasty and with our grand son under 3yrs old he was able to join us ,he had a colouring pack to amuse him self. we slept like a log. breakfast had a good choice to suit everyone fantastic views of the castle ,harbour and islands.

We were very impressed with our short stay at Hotel de Havelet. All of the staff were very welcoming and friendly. Our room was spotlessly clean and had every modern amenity. We enjoyed an excellent dinner in the restaurant with very good service and the food and wine were reasonably priced. We will definitely return.

Stayed here for the second time on a staycation deal. Lovely hotel with fantastic rooms. I feel like I could be anywhere when I stay here. I have stayed in two other hotels on Guernsey and this is my favourite. Great indoor pool, lovely garden fantastic staff and great food, what more could you want?

We just visited this hotel for a second staycation after lockdown, once again it was a fantastic experience. The room and health suite were great to unwind in. Our evening meal in the Copenhagen restaurant was exceptional, food cooked perfectly to our wishes. The whole visit was a delight, helped at every turn by the ever good and helpful staff.

Excellent service and food. Good selection of vegetarian dishes which pleased a fussy member of our party. Good location , pool and health suite facilities added bonus. All staff friendly and very efficient.

My husband and I did a staycation for 1 night. We had a very relaxing time. Room was lovely, only thing I would say is the pillows were a little hard. The pool was quiet which was great and the jacuzzi was lovely and hot.

The hotel has an old-world charm with many different zones for relaxing. The facilities are excellent and the staff are very attentive. Just the tonic after CV19 lockdown with a wide range of menu choices in the Copenhagen restaurant. Will be back

I am not easily pleased but the welcome from the hardworking staff was wonderful. After signing in , I was taken to my room. It was large, spotlessly clean. The bed was huge and extremely comfortable. The bathroom was just as I requested with a huge shower. It too was spotless and had all the necessary toiletries. The diner and breakfast were delicious with a huge selection on the menus. The delicious food was rapidly served on hot plates by charming staff. I word recommend this hotel for great staff , wonderful food all for a good price

Another wonderful stay at Hotel De Havelet. From the moment you walk through the door you are made so welcome. We had afternoon tea with Prosecco; followed by a swim and Jacuzzi; it was lovely. We retired to our room to get ready for our evening meal. We were not disappointed; the meal was so good; the staff are really welcoming and friendly; the atmosphere was noisy in a wonderful happy way. It was good to be out of lockdown and to see so many people; of so many different age groups; enjoying themselves. We cannot wait to return!

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel de Havelet - all the team were brilliant and made our stay memorable. Nothing was too much trouble for them. We dined in Copenhagen which was delicious - even had a couple of Pornstar Martini cocktails which tasted amazing! Highly recommend this hotel and in a great spot too with views of Castle Cornet and a short walk away from St Peter Port's high street.

Overall great experience hence we opted to stay one more night. The lady at the reception actually made us feel more than welcome. She showed us all the rooms and she was very friendly. The room we had was excellent. Food at Copenhagen bar was very good. Facilities for the pool, jacuzzi and sauna was really good. Best staycation place in Guernsey.

My wife and I have recently enjoyed a four-night stay at the Hotel De Havelet. The service from quality of accommodation through to the quality of meals was outstanding. In particular we cannot praise highly enough the staff of the hotel.

The Hotel de Havelet is a beautiful hotel with a great restaurant, relaxing health suite and lovely comfortable rooms. But what made our stay exceptional were the staff. Professional, friendly, helpful and very welcoming ... they were all simply wonderful. Thank you.

We booked a three night Christmas staycation at the Hotel de Havelet and cannot rate the experience highly enough. Absolutely everything was excellent – the friendly welcome, the food, the service. The organisation was superb in that there was plenty to do such as the Christmas Eve pottery painting session at Iris and Dora and the Boxing Day trip to Herm and yet plenty of time to relax and enjoy the beautifully decorated surroundings. There were lovely touches such as the welcome Prosecco and chocolates in our room and the Christmas stocking outside our door on Christmas Day. Although we have often eaten in the restaurants over the years, this is the first time that we have stayed in the hotel. We have already booked the Valentine Staycation and hope that there will be an Easter Staycation. Hopefully, we'll be able to spend next Christmas at this hotel and be joined by our family from England. Thank you to everyone at the Hotel de Havelet – you are a great team and we appreciate all that you did for your guests over the Christmas period.

27 December is not really a favorite day for a birthday but we had the best staycation & felt so looked after! From the moment we arrived to the moment we departed everything was special & the staff couldn't do enough for us so a BIG Thank you BWHdeH!

Decided to book a last minute staycation as attending a wedding reception lunch in Copenhagen restaurant. We were made to feel welcome from the moment we checked in, to when we checked out the next day. The receptionist showed us to our room, and even helped to carry one of our bags for us( although unfortunately don't remember her name!) The room was lovely, with a bottle of prosecco and strawberries waiting, together with bottled water, tea & coffee and all the usual amenities (including a fridge -which is great as we usually take our own fresh milk for hot drinks as not keen on the little pots). All the staff throughout the hotel were very friendly and helpful, and we will definitely be back!

Spent New Years Eve here with family. Clean, well equipped rooms, friendly, attentive staff. Hotel clean and well presented throughout. A short walk into town so can visit other bars or places of interest if non local.

We had a great 2 night staycation at the hotel in a superior room for Christmas, the package included meals and Christmas activities. The hotel room, swimming pool and restaurant facilities were all clean to a high standard and staff were all very helpful and attentive. At check in we received a warm welcome from Kati. Gennaro and his team were great hosts for the Christmas activities which included pottery painting at iris and Dora which was good fun. With it being Christmas the hotel went out of their way to add some special little touches such as a stocking was on our door christmas morning and festive breakfast options. In addition, the Christmas decor in the hotel and restaurants looked great throughout. The Christmas Eve and Christmas Day food was extremely tasty and the menus had a good variety across both days. There was also a good mix of continental and cooked breakfast options available. Swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room was a nice added extra for relaxation. In summary although we stayed at Christmas we would recommend staying at the Havelet any time of year and hope other islanders continue to book their staycation packages. Can't wait to come back soon :)

What a wonderful 3 night stay and so good we are going back for New Years Eve! The room was large with all the mod-cons. The food was excellent, staff are wonderful and Christmas activities great fun. I would highly recommend and if we are still unable to travel next Christmas, I will not hesitate booking again as it was brilliant :-). Also the Christmas decorations all around the hotel were amazing and all made by the lady on reception (so sorry, I can't remember your name). It certainly felt like Christmas.

Great all round. We stayed for one night and will definitely be back! Highly recommend for an overnight stay with the use of the relaxing pool & Spa facilities . dinner & breakfast 10/10 and the staff are incredibly helpful.

On arrival we where welcomed in such a manor by reception we just knew our stay would be absolutely lovely. We where taken to our room and shown in. The room was immaculate and had the lovely surprise of a bottle of Prosecco and fresh strawberries. Within 10 mins our room phone started to ring and it was a member of staff asking if our room was to our liking and all was ok, which it was. We used the health suite on the Saturday morning which was fab. We ate at the Hopenhagan restaurant Friday evening and the food was sublime, our breakfast was also served here and the choice and quality of the food again was just a joy to eat. Our stay was great, all the staff from Managers to House keepers to Bar staff were so friendly and anything you needed or wanted was no trouble. We will definitely come back. Veronica and Paul.

Had such a good time staying here for a couple of nights with friends. The staff were so friendly and fun and the rooms were pretty perfect. The health suite is better than I expected and the meals were fantastic. Can't wait to go back.

From when we arrived at reception to when we left we were treated very well. Our Superior room was lovely. The large bed was extremely comfortable and the facilities in the room were very good. A nice selection of teas and coffees etc if you wanted them. We made good use of the heated swimming pool before heading to the Grill Restaurant where we were warmly greeted. The food was lovely and all the staff were great. Breakfast in the morning was freshly prepared and was one of the nicest breakfasts we have had in a long time with a lovely view to enjoy. Nothing was too much trouble. I would most definitely recommend staying here.

If you need choose staycation I can recommend to stay at the Hotel de Havelet , all the staff are very welcoming and friendly, the service was spot on and affordable prices . Even when we arrived the receptionist shown as the way to our room and explain the way to the restaurant underneath the tunnel and swimming area.

Great all round from arrival. Only a one nighter but will be back and will recommend. Lovely grounds, pool facilities and decor of building inside and out all matches period house. Stall all very helfull and attentitive.

Excellent hotel and staff. Felt welcomed and looked after from the start. Incredible views overlooking Castle Cornet with a lively Copenhagen bar. Rooms were spacious and the bathroom well appointed with plenty of water pressure for a strong hot shower.

We had come with friends who already knew this hotel, for us it was a great discovery, everything was perfect, the location which offered a very nice relaxing view, our room with excellent bedding, a beautiful bathroom, products quality offered, a very good breakfast, charming staff, a swimming pool and a very hot jaccuzi, it was a very good stay

I stayed here with friends and family for 2 nights instead of an annual weekend trip to the UK. The Hotel is lovely and in a beautiful setting overlooking the sea and Castle Cornet also the smaller Islands off Guernsey (Herm & Sark). The rooms were spotlessly clean and comfortable. The staff were extremely friendly and efficient. The food was also top quality. The breakfast choice was great. The Copenhagen restaurant is very modern and again the staff and food were excellent. The Health Suite was great too. It consisted of a pool , jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. I would highly recommend this Hotel and look forward to staying again in the future.

We had never stayed at the Hotel de Havelet before and weren't sure what to expect, but it was a brilliant 1-night stay which our whole family loved. The hotel is grand and well-kept. Our room was immaculate and spacious. The food in the Copenhagen restaurant was great and the staff were welcoming and attentive. Plus the pool and jacuzzi facilities were superb - the kids didn't want to leave! We will definitely be returning should they offer family staycations in the future!

We had a great 3 night stay in a superior room at the front of the hotel. The Copenhagen bar/restaurant was excellent and the spa area with pool, jacuzzi and sauna was lovely. Great location for exploring St Peter Port and amazing views over the castle. The staff were helpful and friendly. We will definitely be returning and wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

Great stopover, lovely room overlooking the small garden. May request a seaview room next time. There is a swimming pool, small but very nice and super clean, which included steam and sauna, again small but fine. Great meal in the evening at the restaurant with attentive but not intrusive staff. Good sleep and a very fine breakfast in the morning before embarking on a lovely walk down into the town and back around to the hotel. All in all a great break.

We had a great 3 night stay,couldn't fault anything,we had a superior room at the front of the hotel with a balcony,the bar & restaurant were excellent & the pool complex was superb. All the staff were very welcoming & nothing was too much trouble,we will definitely return & wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

A group of us stayed for the weekend as we were supposed to be away running. The hotel was fabulous, very clean and well looked after. The staff were amazing and could not do enough for us. We ate in the restaurant both nights and the food was just perfect. The rooms were lovely, very well equipped and spotlessly clean. Oh and the free bottle of prosecco each was lovely as well!

We booked the room directly with the Hotel to make the most of the special Staycation rate. As a result we got a great rate, a bottle of Prosecco on arrival and £50 off our evening meal costs. The check in process was fast and easy. The room was lovely and we were made to feel very welcome. The pool is indoor and so it is not a problem if the weather is a little unseasonal, and there is also a jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. All was really well maintained and very clean. The staff were all very helpful and polite. We had a great time. We have already booked to go back again and we are looking forward to it. The lady on reception (Marina) was most helpful.

Lovely hotel the rooms were very nice & clean. Food & staff excellent. We sat outside for drinks in the early evening & enjoyed a fabulous meal in the restaurant. We made use of the health suite which had everything we needed. Dressing gowns in the room were a nice touch.

OK I have not stayed in the hotel as I live on Guernsey BUT I do eat at Copenhagen and I am a very regular swimmer in the pool as a member and this provides insight to how the hotel operates throughout the year. The pool and Sauna and changing rooms are always kept immaculately clean. Whenever I speak to the staff or they are cleaning the pool they are always very pleasant and give out a feeling that they care and are very professional. I did stay in the hotel years ago when moving house and it was an absolute pleasure. Please keep up this excellent level of service and cleanliness.

As we did not wish to travel off Guernsey due to Covid my wife and I decided to have a staycation for my birthday on the 18 Sept. We checked in on the afternoon of 18 Sept and were shown to our room by Sevvy, the very friendly receptionist. The room was large and well equipped with flat screen wall mounted tv, iron and ironing board, tea and coffee making facilities and plenty of storage space. The air conditioning was also adjustable. The bathroom was roomy and had a shower over the bath. The only slight drawback was that there was not a lot of storage for sponge bags etc around the sink. There was a safe in the bottom of the wardrobe (awkward to reach if you are not agile) and dressing gowns and slippers were provided. The room overlooked the garden so was quiet at night time. One pleasant surprise was that the stay included a bottle of Prosecco on arrival but as it was my birthday the hotel provided an extra 2 small bottles of Prosecco and a birthday card which was much appreciated. One slight fault is that the tv is mounted very near to the bathroom door which could be a hazard if one visits the bathroom in the night without putting a light on. The breakfast was very good and served at your table which makes a welcome change to buffet style breakfast. I believe that there should be a residents menu as the menu offered had each item individually priced which I believe was aimed at non residents who wished to visit and partake of breakfast. We ate in the restaurant on Saturday 19 Sept 20. Our order was taken by Luca, the friendly restaurant manager whilst we had a pre-dinner drink in the bar. On being shown to our table our starter soon came. Unfortunately a large party arrived in the restaurant soon after and it became very noisy. In fact one table of four asked to be moved because of the noise and were accommodated to a table in the bar which is also used for dining, My wife and I both had ribeye steak which was good but not excellent. Although the restaurant was very busy the waiting staff were excellent both in the restaurant and in the bar. One other slight fault was that the bread we were offered at the start of our meal was rock hard but was soon changed for a soft bread roll. To summarise, we thoroughly enjoyed our staycation at the Hotel de Havelet, noisy restaurant excepted, and if Covid still restricts our travel in the future would consider another staycation there but would probably not use the restaurant on a Friday or Saturday night. As we are in our 70's you can't blame the younger generation enjoying themselves especially on a virtually Covid free island. As I said to my wife, that was probably us 40-50 years ago. Gennaro, Sandeep and their team do run a very good establishment

Stayed overnight for my husband's 65th. Really friendly staff and lovely food at Copenhagen. Nice touch with card and prosecco for him in room. Lovely breakfast outside in the morning. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to going back.

The team were absolutely amazing accommodating 35 people in the beautiful outdoor terrace for my wife's 30th. Very professional and helpful with every request and had a lovely evening and nights stay. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

We arrived later in the day than expected only to find I'd messed up the arrival date and we were not booked in until a day later! The receptionist was extremely kind and helpful and rearranged everything for us even though the hotel was busy and the restaurant was full for dinner. A room was arranged swiftly and we were delivered a bottle of Prosecco and bowl of strawberries. We enjoyed a swim, sauna, steam and jacuzzi before dinner on the terrace which was perfect. Couldn't fault it. Perfect stay!

Friendly welcome, Room very comfortable, Food in Copenhagen Bar and Grill most enjoyable, lovely pool. The views from the restaurant overlooks harbour and neighbouring Islands which are easy to reach by boat is beautiful. Congratulations to the staff, nothing was too much trouble. recommend a visit, we shall return.

What a wonderful stay!! We took advantage of the recently established air bridge between the Island and Guernsey and booked a four night stay at the De Havelet. We had a superior double room, and my daughter had booked a single room, that was upgraded to a double close to ours (A nice gesture) The rooms were well appointed, including plug hair dryer, tea and coffee making facilities (and a good choice of both tea and coffee), cleaned and made up every day. Breakfast on the terrace overlooking the bay and port was lovely. The staff were very attentive and the choice for breakfast was varied and accounted for all tastes.... nothing was a problem! On the first night we had a meal in the Copenhagen grill and bar.... again with the same attention and service and choice!! I would not hesitate in recommending this hotel!

We had a very enjoyable overnight stay which included a superior room with a bottle of prosseco in the room, a generous 50 pounds towards dinner and breakfast the following morning. The room was spacious and well appointed. We enjoyed use of the health suite . Dinner was excellent with interesting choices. After a good nights sleep a tasty breakfast before our short fourney home. All very enjoyable supplied by keen abd attentive staff. We will return!

This was our first visit to Guernsey; both the Island and our choice of hotel did not disappoint. The hotel was beyond our expectation, it had a sense of calm and made for a very relaxing stay. The rooms were kept very clean, the grounds were tidy and the pool inviting. The whole team from the cleaners, receptionists, management etc were excellent, all were friendly, efficient, welcoming and helpful, a credit to Gennaro, the hotel manager. We took advantage of the present “Air bridge” and stayed for a week and enjoyed every minute. We would strongly recommend this hotel.

Friendly and brilliant service from beginning to end, excellent food and a great location. So good was dinner on the first evening we eat again at Copenhagen on the second. The swimming pool and outside garden area were a relaxing and tranquil escape especially after a busy day on Herm. We stayed in the suite for its direct access to the front terrace which was good, especially for the morning sun. It was a good size also. Only disappointment was the lack of any view which we had hoped for from this vantage point (this is available from the terrace of Copenhagen, especially great for breakfast).

Fantastic Hotel nestled high on a hill on the outskirts of St. Peter Port with beautiful gardens, terrace and views across to the Islands of Herm and Jethou. Wonderful and attentive staff, great room, superb indoor pool and jacuzzi and good food with the option to eat indoors or out on the terrace. Great way to celebrate an important anniversary without being able to travel abroad.

we have stayed at the hotel a few times and this time didn't disappoint! we booked two rooms one for us and one for our older children, they were next to each other with one being made up as a twin. We bought a deal with the hotel that included a bottle of prosecco per room and they were kind enough to put both bottles in our room, little touches like that were brilliant. We enjoyed the pool which was clean and open at good times. The staff were amazing and attentive and the food was top class. two tiny little things, the toilet in our room was very hard to flush and would run water constantly and there were no bin bags or sanitary bags.

I was celebrating a 'special birthday' and we thought De Havelet would be lovely and it was. We checked in early afternoon and used the pool which was quiet and nice and clean. We received an upgrade to a superior room and it had everyhing you could want including strawberries with the Prosecco !. The meal in Copenhagen was excellent and the service throughout was top class. Highly recommended.

Excellent staycation in Guernsey. The hotel rooms and facilities were first class, restaurant food for breakfast and dinner were amazing with a lot of choice all cooked to perfection and last, but not least, all the staff were attentive during our entire staff.

Loved it from start to finish,the receptionist was lovely, the room was lovely, we went in the pool and spa area which was nice and surprisingly quiet, then walked to the slaughterhouse for a beer where we met some old friends, walked back and had a lovely dinner in Copenhagen, food was 5 star and all of the team were very attentive.Breakfast was outside( at our choice) and the team were every bit as good as previously been.. This isn't the first time we've been to Copenhagen nor will it be our last..also might have to come back and stay in the hotel which, for us was perfect too !

We had our wedding reception in The Wellington Boot restuarant, the service from Gennaro and his team is excellent, they are experienced and it shows, they were at always at hand to ensure everything ran smoothly. The food was delicious and beautifully presented couldn't have wished for better. We had a two night staycation after the wedding and stayed in room 18 which was lovely, very nice modern decor and bathroom had bath and shower over, the bed was very comfortable and we had no disturbances during the night. Tea coffee (instant and fresh) biscuits and mints all very well stocked as were the toiletries, ironing board and iron and a plug in hair dryer which we ladies know is a bonus. Lovely balcony looking down at a pretty courtyard. The pool jacuzzi and sauna/steam room is immaculate we enjoyed a swim before breakfast, and breakfast was served until 11 am, very good selection of food and healthy options. We will definetely have another staycation I highly recommend it Gennaro and his team are a credit to the hospitality industry!

If I could give 6* rating I would! Horrible weather for my birthday weekend with friends but nothing was spoilt due to the exceptional friendly service from the staff in all departments of this lovely hotel! Nothing was too much trouble! Special mention to the wonderful receptionist who dealt with our numerous requests and to the lovely restaurant manager and waitress who served us for our evening meal and the very courteous young spanish waiter who had the misfortune of dealing with our many breakfast requests! Well done to the management for having such wonderful staff in these difficult times! Best wishes to you all from 5 mature very happy ladies!

Friendly and efficient check in on arrival and we were very happy with the location of our room overlooking the garden and very quiet. Everything was spotless and well appointed. We enjoyed our time in the health suite and took advantage of the sun beds in the garden for a siesta!

Warm welcome upon arrival from receptionist and greeted everyday with a smile . Strawberries and bubbly on ice in the room, a lovely touch. Room clean, bright immaculate . Spa area clean, pool temp just right, jacuzzi a little hot for me but well maintained, clean fresh towels and lovely sun bathing area outside.Restaurant attentive , welcoming and exceptional food compliments to chefs.

Warm welcome to an interesting historic hotel. Beautifully laid out with gardens, terrace and health suite, which were all spotless. Our choice of restaurant 'Copenhagen' was rewarded by a beautiful evening meal which was presented in a stylish environment. All the staff we encountered were friendly, polite and knowledgeable. Overall a very pleasant break, to be repeated.

We had a staycation here with friends for a 65th birthday. Very friendly staff who went out of their way to ensure our stay was enjoyed by all. they were very careful with all the restrictions in place for safety and social distancing following the Covid 19 outbreak food was excellent too.

We stayed here as part of our honeymoon. The staff we contacted before arrival were very accommodating, and we were able to leave our suitcases at the hotel whilst visiting Sark overnight. The hotel pool was really good and re-introduced my husband to swimming. There were great views from the place where you have breakfast overlooking St Peter Port Harbour, so we could watch the comings and goings of the tide and the boats.

Overnight stay for me & my husband and our 40th anniversary party in the Wellington Boot with 19 of us from 4 - 83 years. Couldn't have felt more welcome. The whole team were amazing and made it a wonderful experience. The room was warm and clean and had everything we needed.

Such a beautful hotel that we have overlooked in the past. The decor is just stunning and the room was immaculate, with lots of nice little extras in our room, such as bath robes, slippers, chocolates, fruit water and biscuits. It was a real bonus to have Netflix built into the TV and the bed was enormous. We loved the tunnel leading from the hotel to the restaurants! The pool, jacuzzi, steam room and suana all had a luxurious spa feel to them and we really enjoyed using them. The service was excellent and the staff very helpful and friendly. Food and service in both restaurants was excellent and the breakfast, overlooking Havelet Bay was spot on.But nothing is perfect, so here are the not-so positive elements. Firstly, the milk provided for making tea/coffee was whole milk. I'm perfectly happy with UHT milk but whole milk is just a bit too thick to stomach in tea and skimmed or semi would have been more enjoyable. The room was far too hot in the evening, even though we switched off the heater.We couldn't even open a window as we didn't have one. Also, we realised that the balcomy had a unlocked door, which joined it to every single room on our floor, so if we left our patio door open, anyone could wander in!! It was also quite noisy. On several occasions I heard someone run up and down the stairs to the next floor up and stomp around, causing all the pipes to rattle and someone was hoovering a bit early for a Sunday morning. Otherwise it was a very pleasant stay.

We have just spent 4 nights at the hotel and cannot fault it. The hotel itself is beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. We used The Copenhagen bar and restaurant and were very impressed to see that it was very popular with non-residents: a real plus for a hotel restaurant and probably because thew food was superb. The staff were welcoming, friendly and genuinely pleased to help us.

Having stayed at the hotel a number of times before makes it easier to stay again in the future. A good location with good views. Really nice staff and comfortable double rooms. A lovely onsite restuarant and bar. For work or pleasure I think you will enjoy it.

We spent 4 nights here. We upgraded to the superior room and I had a lovely sea view. The rooms are spacious, super comfy bed and lovely toiletries. The fruit basket was replenished every day as were the water bottles and enormous tea / coffee selection box. Lovely staff and a very nice pool for a quick early morning swim before breakfast. Excellent stay and wouldn't hesitate to recommend

Checked in to room 7 a superior room on Saturday 8th February. I checked in for 6 nights. I stayed at the hotel with a colleague. I can't thank the staff enough from front of house to housekeeping to bar and restaurant staff all gave us outstanding service. Well done hotel de Havelet your staff are amazing and so polite. I will definitely be recommending your hotel to our company. Keep up the good work very impressive.

I love this hotel, the facilities are second to none, Staff are very accommodating. It was my second stay at this hotel. The pool is lovely and the views to Castle Cornet are stunning. Downside its on a very steep hill.

Loved this hotel. Clean, comfortable. Good WiFi. Felt safe. Good location,not completely on top of tourist area so quieter at night - less than 5 min walk to the city center. Really liked the smell of the shower gel in the shower! I would also like to favour very good breakfast, swimming pool, helpful and friendly staff. I will definitely stay again at this fabulous place.

I have now stayed at thgis hotel on 4 separate occasions in past 3 months and have already booked for 2 more. The number of bookings says it all. The staff are extremley helpful. It is located about 10 or so minutes stroll from the main centre

Just come back from a one night stay, everything about the hotel and restaurant are excellent with customer service being of prime importance. Would recommend to everyone, plenty of parking and 5 minute walk to town

We spent 4 nights in the Hotel de Havelet in January. We had a superior room which was very spacious , comfortable and spotlessly clean. There was lots of tea, coffee making facilities etc and fresh fruit everyday . Our room was very quiet and had a nice view down to the sea .All the staff were exceptionally pleasant, helpful and attentive . We enjoyed the health spa which had a pool, steam room, sauna and jacuzzi. We enjoyed eating breakfast in the adjacent Wellington room. There was a very good choice of breakfast which was freshly cooked to order We had our evening meal in the Copenhagen restaurant . Again the staff were exceptional only slight downside was it was busy and a little noisy at the weekend. Maybe this comment reflects our age !1Overall the hotel has a lovely relaxing atmosphere with elegant reception rooms and attentive staff. I would highly recommend a stay there

We chose this hotel based on a previous one night stay & enjoyed the New Year celebrations so much will will return later this year. The management, staff and accommodation were simply superb. The location of the hotel & views were appreciated too.

Stayed for New Years Eve in a superior room following an excellent evening at the Copenhagen. This is a great place to stay in Guernsey, excellent location with good facilities. A professional friendly team who are a credit to the hotel. I would not hesitate in recommending and would definitely stay again.

Stayed here in July 2019, was very impressed, (one criteria for any hotel I stay at is "would I be okay being stuck in the room for half a day if the weather turned too bad to out").. so decided on the return late-December two holiday in Jersey/Guernsey I was going to stay here again. arrived to find I'd been upgraded to a double room - so a big thank you. Hotel staff again very friendly and helpful... arrived at the hotel 8:15am, left my luggage with reception, went walk about around St.Peter port, returned to the hotel early-afternoon to find my luggage already in my room. Hotel and restaurant was very nicely decorated for Christmas. As with most of the hotels in the St. Peter port area, the quick route from the sea front and bus station area is a rather steep hill climb, but there is a longer much less steep route through the market square. Would highly recommend, and would be my first preference on my return visit to Guernsey.

I have just returned from my 4th Christmas at Hotel De Havelet. This hotel is a relaxing place to stay any time of the year( I have been here in May and November) The rooms are spotless and comfortable. De Havelet's restaurant and bar both serve delicious locally sourced food. The servers are pleasant and efficient. The hotel is a small country house overlooking the harbour. It has two comfortable lounges and a relaxing indoor swimming pool. The strength of this hotel however is the staff,who are most hospitable and approachable.

We have just returned from another great 7 day holiday at the Hotel De Havelet. We stayed between 21st and 28th December 2019 on the Christmas package. This was our 4th Christmas / NY break at the Hotel (the hotel offers excellent Christmas and New Year deals - so much better value than anything available on the mainland) and our 12th visit to the Hotel since 2011 - the last being for a week in March 2019. The hotel is ideally located just outside the town centre. We always stay half board - the food is excellent in both the Wellington Boot restaurant and the Copenhagen. We have stayed in both standard rooms and superior rooms, all of which are spotless and well furnished. The superior rooms are recommended however as most have recently been refurbished. The pool area is nice and the main patio area, as well as the covered and heated outside bar, are great spots for lunch in winter or summer. The staff are lovely and help make our holidays special - from Kati on reception and Atilla in the Wellington Boot to Luca in the Copenhagen - plus of course a special mention to Mohammed, the Head Chef, for the excellent food. Thanks also to Gennaro, the hotel GM. We are already booked to return for our summer holiday in 2020.

Just a great hotel - comfortable rooms, lovely public areas beautifully decorated for Christmas (by the very talented Kati!) and service that is second to none. I think this was our fifth or sixth stay, and we're already looking forward to next time!

From the beginning till the end experience was amazing. Staff is very attentive, food was amazing, room was spacious and very clean. We stayed 24 hours in the hotel premisses, had lunch and dinner at Copenhagen, enjoyed health Suite and had a drinks and cocktails in between. Also, the room was very clean, spacious and had everything you might need. And to top up - breakfast was to die for!

Another stay here and again nothing was too much trouble.I mentioned to reception that I missed the slippers which I had last time.Returned to our room later to find two bathrobes and two pairs of slippers on the bed with compliaments of the Manager. Had trouble with the push button on the toilet and not only was it fixed but a new larger button fixed so it worked easily. All staff in reception,bar and restaurants during morning breakfast or evening meals were always helpfull and provided anything required.Even provided sandwiches some time after restaurant closing time. Everything was provided at breakfast and the meals we ate in the restaurant several times were excellent. The open fire in the lounge must be mentioned and we spent some time here during our stay. Many Christmas decorations and several trees were around the buildings most having been set up by Kathi from reception. So good again it did not matter that the weather this time was really bad.

There is not one thing about this hotel that can be criticised or faulted. Everything was perfect - the reception, the room, the dining area, the bar, the food. The room was immaculate and kept clean with a wide choice of teas, biscuits and even fruit. Bottled water was also on offer. The breakfast was terrific with a wide choice and items replenished when gone. The meals were of high quality and well presented. The staff were all delightful, even taking the time to talk to you. The lounge area was comfortable and (being Christmas time) the decorations were marvellous; all made by a member of staff. What more to say - we would definitely stay again whenever we visit Gurnsey.

A place to relax, and know the staff will pay attention to the details that make a stay so much better. On my previous stay, I had left some plugs and kit in the room. Havelet let me know and the “lost items” were waiting in my room on this visit.

I stayed at this hotel on a business trip for 4 nights. The gentleman at the check in desk was very friendly and helpful in showing us to our rooms. The staff at breakfast and in the restaurant also had excellent customer service. The decor was dated but the environment was clean. There were two pillow options and I requested the other option as the original ones were not my preference - this was done by a phone call to reception who dropped them up to the room. The breakfast was average, but there was nothing particularly bad about it, and there was a good selection. The hotel is based at the top of a particularly steep hill when coming from the port which may be a point to consider when booking, although the walk was relatively short.

Enjoyed a very good night here in, with a newly refurbished hotel with Garden view. V comfy room with lots of extras, fruit, water, coffee machine. V Nice spa area with great pool, hot tub, steam room and Sauna. V good breakfast with excellent service.

We had a choice of rooms, both were great! Ask for a early check-in and late check-out because of our flight times. The staff were very helpful and accommodating. Would definitely recommend. Hotel has a great restaurant on-site A bit of a steep hill from the town but it keeps you fit!

Stayed for a single night. The reception team was brilliant - really friendly and helpful - arranged a few hours late check out at no extra cost. Copenhagen restaurant served great food. Really enjoyed my short stay and will be back.

Only an overnight stay and did not eat in the restaurant this time round. Having visited before, I knew what to expect but was given an upgraded room this time which made it even nicer. Spotlessly clean too. The staff are very polite, courteous and caring. With a phone call from the reception to make sure I was happy with the new room. I was travelling for work hence the single night stay but I would recommend it (and use it) for a multiple night stay, especially a holiday visit as it is well positioned with nice views over the harbour and castle. I'm fortunate enough to be stayingf there again a coupe of more tomes before christmas, chose because of it's good value, so looking forward to that.

A very enjoyable stay at the De Havelet hotel. Clearly out of season so plenty of parking and very few guests seen. We were able to fully enjoy the pool hot tub sauna and my wife and I were the only people there.Everthing worked well and the staff were very helpful at all times. The room was clean and a reasonable size looking out onto the inner courtyard which some may not prefer. The food in the Wellington restaurant was also a very good standard with excellent service... Possibly because there were very few there. Overall a great base for our 3 days in Guernsey and we would definitely stay there again. Paul and Clare White

The hotel was clean and the staff friendly. Good choice of breakfast food in the restaurant with great views over the bay. My wife enjoyed a swim in the pool. The only downside for us was being placed in the basement!

We spent five nights at The Havelet and from arrival to departure it was a wonderful place to stay. We stayed in a superior room which was very comfortable and spotlessly clean every day. All the staff, without exception were extremely helpful and friendly. They all had a genuine concern for the hotel and nothing was too much trouble. We stayed on a B&B basis, but ate in the hotels 2 restaurants on 2 nights of our stay. Both provide excellent food and service. We also had drinks each evening, prior to dinner in the Copenhagen bar which was friendly and buzzing. Breakfast was very good with lots of hot choices, all cooked freshly, as well as fruit, yogurt, pastries and charcuterie. If you are looking for a reasonably priced hotel in St Peter Port, choose The Havelet - you won't be disappointed.

WE stayed here for our first visit to Guernsey and in every respect the hotel came up to expectations. WE had a basic room but it was very comfortable over looking the garden - just a little dark due to a shrub growing right outside the window not really a problem. The staff were helpful, the food very good and the swimming pool, which we used every day was wonderful . Extras included a small fridge in the room and a complementary bus service to town and back several times a day and a twice weekly tour of the island which was exceptional. WE had superb weather which added to our enjoyment but we would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to others.

We returned to Guernsey this year to our old favourites to see if they had maintained their standards from previous years. We are delighted to report that all four of our reviews each receive a well deserved 5 stars. We have stayed at the Havelet quite a few times now, and I'm delighted to be able to report that their high standards have been maintained if not exceeded. We were given one of the recently refurbished rooms with aircon, which was useful to provide additional heat at it turned cold while we were there. This was the best room we'd had - please look at the photos. Housekeeping kept it spotless and the tuck box was a nice extra. Breakfast was as good as ever with a huge variety of fruit, cereals, rolls, cooked foods and Danish pastries - all of which were perfectly fresh. All staff from reception, housekeeping and the restaurant had customer satisfaction as their priority with the breakfast restaurant manager going that extra step to keep their customers happy. It is very clear that their General Manager puts great focus on customer satisfaction and this is reflected in the staff. This may seem to be an exceptionally positive report, but this was how it was, and we will return and hope to give the Happy Heavenly Havelet 5* again. Thank you so much.

We love this hotel! We asked for a sea view but were told there isn't a bedroom with a proper sea view so I was given the next best thing and we ended up with the best view and the only balcony! The best views are of course in the restaurants. The restaurants were amazing - really beautiful food, reasonably priced and all the staff were very attentive. Excellent cocktails in the Copenhagen restaurant! Their breakfasts are very very nice - huge choice of cold/continental and hot dishes. The French brioche toast with bacon and maple syrup was to die for! Everywhere is very comfortable and exceptionally clean. Our bedroom had a huge comfy bed with pristine bedlinen. There is a bowl of fresh fruit every day and the tea and coffee box included several different teas, Cadbury's hot chocolate, instant and ground coffee, lovely biccies and several chocolate mints! Also, there was some nice bottled still water, Coke and lemonade too. The pool was perfect as was the jacuzzi, and very well looked after. There was a lot of outdoor furniture and some under cover patio areas so I can imagine it's quite something when the weather is warmer. Mick the minibus driver is such a lovely man - shuttles customers to and from the town centre and does a free island tour twice a week. The staff couldn't do enough for us. And always with a smile on their faces. Don't be put off by the position of the hotel - high up and set back from the town centre. With this you get amazing views! And the minibus shuttle is a godsend and the local taxis are very reasonable. Thoroughly recommend!

Our autumn break was as good as ever with excellent staff lead by a great team. It has become our habit to eat out 4 out of 7 nights but always forget what tremendous value it is to eat in. We'll be back next year for sure.

1. I had booked a single room for a very reasonable price - that's what I thought. But the single room they fit me in looked completely different from the one I had seen on the fotos. The size was okay, the furniture and the bath room were simple, but sufficient ... and it was a real "dark room", I had to switch on the light during the day. The duvet was extremely heavy. All in all I felt a bit like buried alive. 2. The last evening of my stay I had diner in the hotel's restaurant, called "Copenhagen". The main dish seemed to be heatened in the microwave (although they claimed, that they don't use it), the mashed potatoes were made out of instant pulver etc. But the meal was not only disappointing, it caused a real food poisoning: Stomach cramps, Diarrhoea, I had to throw up several times - a terrible night with no sleep. Next morning, at first the staff seemed to be really helpful, e.g. they gave me a room to stay in until my flight's departure time in the afternoon. But … when I liked to check out, they wanted me to pay the largest part of the restaurant-bill, so that I had to discuss this issue with the staff and the manager although I was obviously ill and weak because of the food they had served me. Needless to say that I was not able to eat breakfast this morning, but they were not willing to reimburse me the money I had paid for it in advance. Because of my physical condition it was impossible for me take the bus to the airport - but although they assured me, that they would organize a transfer, at least I had to pay a taxi by myself. If an incident like that happens – and surely, sometimes things like that do happen - it seems to be normal and adequate that the hotel and its staff, especially the management, are acting obliging, generous and helpful. This is not the case if you choose Best Western Hotel De Havelet in St. Peter Port, Guernsey.

We take a few days three times a year to 'chill out' at Hotel de Havelet. It really is like 'coming home'. Nothing is too much for the staff; our every whim/want is granted. Our room is kept spotless for us and the 'treats' ie fruit, water etc replenished daily..

Booked for a long weekend (Thursday - Monday) at end of Septemeber 2019. Friendly/polite greeting on arrival, rooms are comfortable, clean & all the staff very helpful, polite & courteous. The hotel is idealy situated as it's just a short walk into St. Peter Port & whether you've brought your own car or hired one (recommended to see as much of the island as possible & parking is currently free across the island) there is ample parking. Thoroughly enjoyable weekend, excellent service throughout, highly recommended.

What is there to say that hasn't already been said. We had another very enjoyable stay, as always the Management and staff were at their usual very high standard of service. We had our meals in the Wellington Boot Restaurant and thoroughly enjoyed the new menus. We have already booked for next year.

The Hotel De Havelet is a comfortable and convenient hotel in Guernsey's main town, St Peter Port. My single room was spacious with ensuite and tea & coffee facilities. Breakfast was buffet-style with a choice of cooked food, if required. Service in all parts of the hotel was pleasant, professional and polite..

Wonderful three course lunch today in the Hotel's restaurant. My sister had a very last minute (three days notice) change to her venue for wedding reception. Herm Island was reluctantly cancelled due to weather conditions. The hotel stepped up to the plate admirably. Very good service. Friendly, attentive and efficient staff.. Excellent food.

We have been staying at the Best Western Hotel de Havelet for several years. The rooms are well fitted and our bathroom was first class. The staff are friendly and helpful and the food in both the Wellington Boot and Copenhagen restaurants excellent. The view from the Wellington Boot is particularly special as the sun goes down and the lights in the harbour and on Castle Cornet come on. Our last action before we left was to book another week for next year.

Enjoyed our 4 night stay with friends celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary. We could not have chosen a better hotel, the food,friendly staff and high standards were exceptional...it was a joy to stay here. The tour around the Island arranged by the hotel was also excellent do not stay anywhere else you will not be disappointed!

We've been staying at Sarnia hotels over a period of 42 years, starting with Le Chalet in 1977 and latterly always at De Havelet. The staff are brilliant under the superb management of Gennaro Festivo, the hotel manager. Our 1st experience of the new Copenhagen restaurant and our bedroom had been part of the refurbishment programme. The rooms are spotless every day and the superior rooms have dressing gowns, slippers, flannels, soaps, hair dryer etc.... Sad to see the Saddle bar gone which means that there's nowhere to be able to sit down and have a leisurely drink whilst choosing one's dinner or browse the lunchtime salad bar but a small price to pay for the new excellent restaurant. The food on HB terms is excellent. Many breakfast choices, all freshly cooked and the table d'hote is exceptionally good for the evening with an a la carte option. The heads of staff have been here many years and run the hotel with great charm and efficiency and is a feature of the hotel. It's difficult for them to get general waiting staff etc... and the standard of English here is a bit lacking but not a problem. It's so good that we don't want it to become too popular!! Thoroughly deserves its #1 spot in the TA hotel listing and would be even better if they could put in a stair lift to take you up bloomin' Havelet Hill!!!

If you're planning a stay in Guernsey and want the convenience of St Peter Port on your doorstep, with easy access to the rest of the island, then you need look no further than the Hotel de Havelet. We've stayed here twice now. The first time was a few years back, and we were really impressed then. Having just returned from our second visit, we're convinced this is definitely the place for us. The room we stayed in had been refurbished a couple of years ago, but the standard of housekeeping is such that it still looked like new. The bathroom was great: spotlessly clean, high-quality fixtures and fittings and near-instant hot water (which in our experience is quite unusual in a hotel!). The staff are excellent. There's always a friendly greeting from the reception staff, and the restaurant staff are attentive and welcoming. Even the housekeeping staff are happy to interact with guests. We just got the feeling that the staff enjoyed working there, and that positive attitude was almost palpable. We recognised some staff from our previous visit. The hotel's ability to hold onto its staff speaks volumes. We had decided to eat in the hotel some evenings, and eat out on others. However, the table d'hote menu in the Wellington Boot restaurant changes daily, so it turned out that we would have been quite happy to eat there every night. There's so much to commend this hotel, I'd recommend you come and experience it for yourself!

Stayed in a superior double room which was very clean, comfortable and well-appointed. Staff were friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Great selection of food and drink at breakfast - multiple tasty and well-presented buffet and cooked menu options.

Stayed at the Hotel de Havelet for a week, on our first visit to the island. It is a lovely hotel with commanding views over the bay. The hotel was very comfortable and the staff very professional and helpful. There was a great pool and jacuzzi which we used several times.Complimentary bus tours of the island were offered a couple of times a week, which I thought was a very nice touch, and my husband particularly appreciated the complimentary bike tour, organised by restaurant manager Atilla, one morning. The hotel was only about a 15-20 minute walk away from the centre of St Peter Port, but being on a hill meant that part of the route was very steep. Not sure how suitable this would be for someone with mobility problems, but then most of St Peter Port is hilly.

We stayed at this hotel twice, taking a mini break to Sark in between. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. They booked us a taxi to take us to the harbour and later to the airport for our return journey. When they saw us waiting, they contacted the taxi and let us know when it would arrive, Our rooms were very comfortable. We had a large walk in shower in room 4. The breakfasts were lovely and again the staff were friendly and efficient. The hotel was about 15 minutes walk to St Peter Port, downhill to the town, quite a steep uphill on the return. The pool was also nice we used it twice.

Hotel de Havelet is well located, up high but only 15 minutes walk down into town. It's close to Victor Hugo's house. It's an old house and retains the original character. All the staff are excellent, very friendly and helpful. We hired bikes and made use of the lovely conservatory pool. Copenhagen restaurant is super. We also ate in Octopus which was fab! I would definitely recommend Hotel de Havelet and would come back.

Just arrived back from a 3night break with friends and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at De Havelet. The staff were all cheerful and really friendly. The hotel was clean and well kept and the restaurants very good. We all felt very comfortable and would stay again without question. One small gripe - no safe in our room, but as it was a short break this was no problem to us. The location up a hill was a challenge and not a chore, though the hotel do offer a shuttle bus.

Having arrived at the hotel without half- board, our first evening in the Wellington Restaurant convinced us to take up this option. A good choice and one which only our waistlines regretted! Similar positive experiences in The Copenhagen bistro bar downstairs. All staff were friendly and accommodating and the manager both present and affable. We'd stay again in a heartbeat!

Fair sized car park. Helpful polite staff, both on reception and also in the restaurant good selection including several fruits for breakfast cooked to order, and also a good choice of dishes for evening meal with fairly prompt service each time.

Just spent our first week in Guernsey at the De Havelet. Such a lovely hotel, friendly and helpful staff who can't do enough. Great location on the edge of town, wonderful views of the Castle, easy access to bus terminus, various inter island ferry's and attractions, abeilt a good hill walk, the hotel has a complimentary bus service. Good size room and bathroom with bath and shower, we had room 3 which didn't particularly have a view. The hotel is spotless and the room was cleaned and made up daily. We had B&B, breakfast was a marvellous selection of everything you'd ever want for breakfast ♡ Swim pool was a good size, good temperature and a separate Jacuzzi and steam room, there is a nice outdoor area to. Many thanks to the staff for a lovely stay we hope to return again. They also offered a complimentary tour of the island which later about 3.5 hrs, Mike who took us was very knowledgeable and enthusiastically told us about the sights and the wonderful island.

First visit to Guernsey so chose a hotel in the main town based on trip advisor rating. Can't think of a bad thing to say. We stayed in room 8 which was in the newer part behind the Georgian front part. It didn't have a sea view but overlooked the garden. It looked like it had just been refurbished with a modern bathroom which had a walk in rain shower. There was a nice Sony tv and plenty of room for a small table and two chairs. About 10 coat hangers in wardrobe along with an iron and board. There was also a safe. There were 3 drawers in a cabinet and a larger one and shelf where you put the case. There was also a small fridge. We had a superior room which had fruit every day and clippers teas, filter coffee and mints with nice biscuits. The pool is a good size and deep enough for swimming lengths. A bonus is the hotel has two of the best restaurants in town and the sister hotel Moore's has another one. The staff were really friendly and couldn't do enough. Although it's not far from town it is up a decent hill and not on a bus route (but does have a complementary bus). It really suited us and we plan to return to Guernsey and stay again.

We were recommended this hotel by locals for its quiet location and great views. Just stayed one night so didn't get to experience most of the faciliies. But the staff were very helpful and friendly, and the room was well appointed and comfortable. Large functional bathroom, good hairdryer, kettle and extensive selection of coffees and teas, iron and ironing board (which we did not use), tv etc. Very comfy bed. Great breakfast in the Wellington Room and although the hotel was apparently full, it certainly did not feel it. If there is a drawback, it is that there is no lift so if you have heavy bags, getting them to and from the room could be an issue. We only had one light bag so no problem. Would recommend this hotel and hope one day we might stay there again only for a little longer.

Great location - a short walk to the town. Lots of outside space with wonderful views over the harbour, where you can eat and drink from the restaurant and bar. Efficient, friendly and professional staff.

Worth going for the jacuzzi alone! And the pool... and the room... and the grounds... and the incredibly friendly and helpful staff... and the view from the terrace... and the shuttle bus into town... you get the idea. And I haven't even started to mention the two superb restaurants. Our choice of this hotel contributed in large part to one of the best holidays we have ever had - thank you!

I first stayed at the De Havelet in the 70s and have been coming back ever since! It's ideally situated just outside of the hurly burly of St Peter Port, but it only takes 10 minutes to walk to the town centre. However the only downside (up?) is the Havelet Hill, which means it's a 20 minute walk back. We just got a taxi for a fiver if we couldn't face the climb. But there is a courtesy mini bus if the times are right for you. The hotel staff and restaurants are brilliant, locals eat there which says it all. If you stay make sure you take one of the hotel's free mini bus tours of the Island, they run them a couple of times a week. We took a day trip to Sark, amazing place but subject of a future review ;)

Best Western Hotel De Havelet was a pleasant surprise in every way. The property is lovely with nice outdoor spaces and a comfortable sitting room to read when other family members were sleeping. We had a perfect afternoon tea at the hotel upon arrival on their outdoor terrace. It was delicious and a great way to start our adventure in Guernsey. Breakfast was included and quite good. It was very nice that you could chose from the cold buffet and also order off the menu. The staff was so friendly and very helpful. In fact, Mohamed even came to pick my mom and I up in town because she hurt her knee and couldn't make the walk back up the hill. The rooms were very clean and a nice size. It is an easy walk to the center of town, about 5 minutes down hill. Walking back up was an issue for some in our party so my only advice is to arrange for a cab pick up hours in advance because the demand for taxis on the island seems to be quite high. The hotel is close to many restaurants,, a lovely cliff walk, swimming areas, historical highlights, bus stops to the rest of the island and more. The staff was even kind enough to pack us some of their delicious scones to bring on our return ferry. It was a wonderful stay and I hope to return some day. We didn't have time to use the pool but it looked great.

We have had another good stay of 4 nights. Everything was excellent. Rooms had been refurbished since our last visit which was good. Pool facilities were good. Lovely breakfast with plenty of variety.

Had a fantastic stay. Very clean and all of the staff were helpful and friendly. Lovely swimming pool overlooking the garden. There is a Sauna, Steam Room and Jacuzzi. The main hotel has two public rooms - the sitting room and the drawing room. The rooms are plenty big enough with everything you'd expect. Two onsite restaurants from which to choose, both serving excellent food by lovely staff. There is a courtesy bus to take you down to the sea front two or three times a day and back. It is a steep walk up and down!

My Wife and I have just returned from a 4 day break at the Best Western De Havelet. The experience from start to finish was absolutely spot on. We booked one of their Romantic breaks as this was our 50th Wedding anniversary and I must say the room with Champagne roses and chocolates was absolutely great. We arrived at the hotel early but they told us they would make our room up while we had a cup of coffee in the Copenhagen bar. All the staff were very friendly and we where treated as though we were regular visitors. Nothing was too much trouble. Both restaurants were first class with delicious food and expert friendly service. It was such a wonderful experience that we decided we just have to return in the not too distant future.

I have stayed (as a business user) many times over the past two years at the Hotel de Havelet and find the staff always welcoming and attentive to my needs. This is best typified by my huge disappointment each time I have had to stay somewhere else (even if a sister best western hotel).

this is the best hotel I have ever stayed in . My husband says it all with the quote the answer is yes how can we help . The staff are excellent so good and helpful . The swimming pool is excellent and never busy . The breakfasts are excellent and the restaurant is also very good we will never forget the whiting we had in the restaurant cooked to perfection. And finally when the taxi we had booked to take us to the ferry did not arrive the manager in a calm manner sorted the situation and had a member of staff take us to the ferry port . Thankyou to all of you the best relaxing break ever.Will definatly return

Have been to this hotel many times and, amazingly, the standard never drops. All the staff, and I do mean all, are extremely friendly and courteous and do everything they can to ensure that you have a wonderful stay. Everywhere is clean and fresh, what more could you possible want. Having said that the sea could be about 10 degrees warmer but I cannot hold the hotel responsible for that!

Like everyone visiting a new destination other peoples review of the place is the starting point for most of us. Let me say without sounding boastful my Wife and I have stayed at some wonderful hotels around the World, Best Western De Havelet now joins that list. It really is a lovely hotel in a great location for sightseeing yet a peaceful retreat at the end of a busy day. Standing high above St Peter port it has a commanding view of the harbour and Castle and the bay with views towards Alderney and Sark. The hotel is immaculate and elegant having been the home of a prominent family it has some wonderful features that have been retained. Our room was superb with every need catered for, lovely bathroom and facilities. The two restaurants have different themes with the Copenhagen being modern and lively, the Wellington classy and more formal. The food in both was an excellent and vast choice, but proper fresh food with an open kitchen in the Copenhagen. The most important thing in any hotel, in my opinion, is the staff well here they score 10 out of 10 from the general manager down to the room maid the consistent attitude to please was obvious. I take this opportunity to thank them all again for making our short holiday such a joy. If you intend to visit Guernsey look no further you won't regret it

Lovely large room, and the biggest en-suite I have come across! Nothing missing, from an iron + ironing board, fan, and a box full of tea and coffee choices, plus biscuits and mints. Also dressing gowns, and a little washing line for wet swimwear over the bath :-) Oh and a fridge. Nothing was too much trouble, if you needed something it was there in minutes. The walk to town is ok but back up is a bit tough, going the longer way around is better. The free bus does not run all day, there is a gap in the afternoon.

A recent stay at De havelet confirms that this is an excellent hotel. Our room was very clean, well appointed and quite spacious. Situated in the courtyard area it was a little dark and there was some noise from the upper rooms but this was not unduly intrusive. The leisure facilities are excellent and kept spotlessly clean.All the staff we met were polite and friendly. We enjoyed the table d hote menu each evening in the Wellington Boot restaurant. Therre was always a choice of 3 vegetables but, curiously, we were told that we could only select 1 item each from the 3. With greater attention given these days to eating more fruit & veg this seemed a strange situation.When queried Andy was quite emphatic- "one"! This is at odds from menu example on the hotel's web page so maybe things have changed since our visit. However this minor blip did not detract from a very enjoyable stay at de Havelet.

Great stay at the De Havelet, a lovely hotel. Restful and relaxing ambience,nice room excellent staff and food what more is there to say! A very minor point is that if you walk back to the hotel from St Peter Port it is a bit of a pull up hill that said the hotel provides a free mini bus shuttle service

Large twin room, sptlessly clean, quiet and comfortable. Within 10 minute stroll downhill of town, steep hill to walk back from town, but there was a shuttle bus, if needed, I found the route back past Victore Hugo's house, whilst 5 longer, was less steep and therefore easier to manage. The restaurants for breakfast and evening meal were both excellent, however if you are not a big eater, go for a small portion, as portion sizes are generous. The staff were helpful and freindly, which is great when you are staying on your own. Great place from which to explore tge island.

Exceptionally helpful staff and excellent food make this a very good hotel indeed. Room was clean and comfortable, service very good and the hotel transport into town both helpful and flexible. All hotel facilities well presented and attractive.

We were treated like royalty - and enjoyed meeting up with the long-standing staff. We are made to feel part of the family. Everyone, from front of house to housekeeping went out of their way to make sure our stay was perfect. Everyone had a smile and a friendly greeting to lift our spirits and show us they genuinely cared. Staff were universally fun and friendly, easy to get along with, and always keen to go the extra mile, regularly checking to see if we were having a good time. All rooms now have keycard access (not sure what the Duke of Wellington would have thought about these new-fangled ideas if he were to stay here again) and our rooms were recently renovated, but retained original features and a nod to the original charm of the old building. One room had walk-in shower and app-controlled air conditioning - so if that is important to you, it might be worth asking for a specific room when booking. There are two restaurants - the Wellington Boot and The Copenhagen - which is also a cocktail bar. There are two outdoor terraces for meals, afternoon tea, or coffee and drinks. All have great choice of starters, mains and desserts, with optional a la carte favourites for additional cost. Dishes were all really well cooked and presented - and not a single course, over seven days, failed to deliver on quality or taste. The breakfasts are also fantastic, with a wide selection of fruits, cereals, cold meats and cheeses, breads and pastries, as well as a large selection of cooked to order hot dishes. The coffee is also great - none of your wishy washy instant stuff. Restaurant and bar staff were friendly and went out of their way to accommodate requests which were not on the menu - including a fantastic birthday cake on one evening, and profiteroles 'just for us' on another, all expertly made by the hotel's amazing new pastry chef. Nothing was too much trouble and everyone seemed genuinely interested in making sure our stay was memorable and perfect in every way. The week really did go far too quickly and we can't wait to come again. Thank you to each and every member of staff for playing their part in giving us such a perfect holiday on a wonderful island.

Like other reviewers have pointed out, how this hotel is only a 3star is a mystery. The quality of the staff/food/rooms/facilities/views... everything... deserves far more. Our break was unfortunately cut short by family illness, but we will be returning to do so many others things we had planned on the island - and just to relax at the superb hotel. From the first booking enquiry, to our welcome on arrival and experience throughout the five days, we were amazed by the 100% warm welcome/attentiveness of the staff at just the right level. The food in the two restaurants, each with their own character and different ambience, is very very good. If you are thinking of going to St Peter Port, this is THE place to stay. Yes it is a short walk up a steepish hill, but it is not too strenuous for the average person - and if you are not the average person, there is a free courtesy bus from the hotel. The views from the terrace area and Wellington Boot restaurant are fabulous. Guernesy offers so much for visitors and a variety of landscapes. And that is before you take the boat across the water to Herm (PARADISE) and Sark.

We have visited Guernsey many times over the years, and this hotel proved to be our best experience ever!! From the Manager, Reception and Restaurants staff right down to the chamber maid, everyone made us feel welcome and valued, and took care of all our needs in a cheerful and friendly manner. The hotel itself is beautifully presented....and spotlessly clean throughout, with great swimming pool and sauna facility plus very well laid-out terraces and gardens (a couple more chairs/tables on the 'upper reaches' of the lawn would not go amiss). Regarding the food.....delicious offerings in both restaurants at breakfast, lunch and dinner, and good choices of wine, etc. We didn't even mind the steep trudge up from the harbour on our elderly legs and will hopefully be back next year. Not telling...but Reception know our favoured room!!

We had experienced a very good stay at Hotel de Havelet last year and had no hesitation in returning. This time we upgraded to a superior room which was well worth th small additional expence. The hotel is very well fitted and maintained, has pleasant relaxing gardens and patio areas, an excellent pool and sauna complex. There is a very good restaurant with well prepared meals with a good menu choice and well worth the value of being on half board. It also provides a full choice of cooked and cold breakfast items. In addition to the Wellington restauarant there is the Copenhagan bar open most of the day serving a range of bar food and drinks either indoors or on the patios. The hotel occupies a good position, with pleasant views over th harbour from the restaurant. Although in walking distance of the harbour and town there is a short steep hill to the promenard, or a longer but less steep walk as well. There is, however, also a free courtesy bus if required. We found all the staff in both the hotel and restaurant friendly and helpful. We stayed in room 34 overlooking the garden

It was really cool ! With great professionnal services. Morning lunch was excellent and the room was perfect. One thing is a little bit heavy and irritating : the engravings of Trafalgar scenes all along the strair to the room. Is it british humour or provocation ? Fortunately Victor Hugo is very present in the town, and his genius put the things in higher perspective... Sincerely, EP

Staff were very friendly at reception and in the bar/breakfast. Room was more like a prison cell with single bed in the corner, a wardrobe too smelly to use and no air conditioning. Rooms were very clean though.

Firstly you have to wonder at the people who hand out the stars. This is listed as a 3 star hotel. It is considerably better than many 5 stars I have stayed in. The hotel has a wonderful 1930's feel to it, very Agatha Christie. The rooms are beautifully decorated with nice furnishings and spotlessly clean. The shower was really powerful and the views from our room was superb down to the sea. The indoor pool and spa was also very stylish and well laid out. Now on to the two real stars of this hotel, the food and the staff. The food is simply stunning, the chateaubriand was one of the best I have ever eaten. The crab on toast so fresh and packed with flavour, I really could go on as they had so many amazing dishes. They have a really well stocked cellar with good variety. The staff just could not have been friendlier and tried all the time we were there to ensure we had all we wanted. The position of the hotel is up a hill about 5 mins from the centre so the views over the sea are beautiful from its terrace. Its a great spot to explore the island from and we would definitely recommend this hotel and we will definitely return. If you are planning to eat in the restaurant on a Friday or Saturday night of your stay book in advance as the locals also know how good the food is.

I am awarding the full five stars in particular due to the excellent staff at this hotel. Nothing was too much trouble - check-in and check-out were quick and smooth, and everyone was so friendly, including the reception team, the housekeeping team, and the guys in the bar/restaurant for both breakfast and dinner. The breakfast service was efficient every day for the week we stayed, which is much appreciated when you have a busy day planned! Also it was available from 7am to 10am every day, which is great if you need to be out early or fancy a lie-in. The hotel laid on excellent facilities and services, from the refreshments tray in the room (free chocolate mints!!) to the pool and the complimentary shuttle bus - Mick the driver was extremely helpful when taking us and another couple to the ferry port for a day trip to Sark. We had a superior room which had a very large and comfortable bed - probably one of the best we have slept in, in any hotel. There was also a fan which was appreciated due to the warm weather, a cool TV, an iron/board, hairdryer and lovely toiletries including body lotion. There was an honesty fridge near the room which also offered some free toiletries if you had forgotten any of the basics. The rooms were very clean and the hotel felt well maintained and cared-for throughout. Agree with others that the location, on a steep hill, made the walk back somewhat challenging! However a taxi from the rank by the clock tower in St Peter Port was around £7; also we had a hire car which we used often, so this helped - incidentally there is plenty of free parking in the hotel grounds. We would absolutely recommend this hotel as a quiet and friendly place to stay.

The rooms were very spacious and had a very wide range of amenities which was a pleasant surprise. For a 3 star hotel this is definitely one of the best I have ever been to and I would have no hesitation in returning. The Copenhagen restaurant and bar is also excellent and well worth a visit with great vegetarian options.

Regular visitor to this hotel for overnight business trips. It's well located and very nice, with its own swimming pool and a choice of eating in the bar or the restaurant. the staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. One tip (if you are up for it) is a morning swim in the seawater swimming pools that are a short walk away!

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Check in was easy, Our room was spacious with an en suite which had the shower over the bath. There was also a very large double bed!, There was no Balcony or terrace and door opens to the walkway around a small central courtyard. The Hotel is situated up a steep hill which means there is good views over Castle Cornet and the sea. The Hotel does run complimentary shuttle bus to the town center although we always walked it. This was our first visit to Guernsey and would certainly stay at De Havelet again should we come back.

Stayed here for 5 nights in a superior room. The room was well equipped with complimentary tea/coffee, daily fresh fruit, slippers, dressing gowns. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is located at the top of a hill overlooking St Peter Port. A nice easy walk down into town but a climb back up the hill. The hotel offers a complimentary mini bus to and from the town at various times of the day. A lovely indoor swimming pool with jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. Very clean and towels provided. The bar was fine. My wife and I are both vegetarian. Copenhagen Restaurant, which is at the bar, had a reasonable menu BUT a little limited for vegetarians. Wellington Restaurant, which is upstairs, offered no vegetarian meals, which was very disappointing. Breakfast was fine - the usual choice of cereal, fruit etc and then a choice of cooked breakfast. It would have been nice if the breakfast varied on a daily basis a little more - e.g. changing the selection of fresh fruit offered Rated this hotel as 5* but would only rate the food offered suitable for vegetarians as 3*.

Having visited Guernsey many times,it was easy to choose the ideal hotel for a weeks holiday.Based on previous visits it was Hotel De Havelet again.A superb hotel in all aspects,this stay was excellent.From check in there is a positive feel & warm ambience which lasts for the duration.My bedroom was very clean & well appointed,complete with turn down service.The pool & spa was. bright,clean & very well maintained,an ideal place to spend a few hours on rainy afternoons. I dined in both the Copenhagen & The Welly Boot, very good menu choice in both,with food quality & service superb.The hotel is very well managed & reflects in positive attitudes & motivation within the staff teams..Nothing is too much trouble to meet guest needs ,which is very gratifying. The hotel is on a hillside which provides great views of Havelet Bay ,Castle Cornet & Herm Island ,use the courtesy mini bus service to Town and back if the walk is too challenging.Again,for me an excellent holiday ,I will return in October to continue the pleasure.

This is a fantastic hotel with great staff who make you feel very welcome. The hotel is at the top of a hill which afford you lovely views of Castle Cornet, and is in a convenient location to explore.

We have just stayed at the Hotel de Havelet for the fourth time and, as on the previous three occasions, it did not disappoint! The hotel is warm, welcoming and comfortable, the cuisine is of a very good standard and the De Havelet team is a delight - nothing is too much trouble and each member of the team will go the extra mile to provide a high level of service at all times. We feel completely at home and we know that we are going to have a great time!

This was my second time staying in this hotel. Room was very clean and well equipped, the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, and the full English breakfast was excellent. Really good value for money.

Exceptional hotel and facilities with a glorious view of the harbour and castle Cornet. We enjoyed fabulous meals in both the Wellington boot and the Copenhagen restaurants. All the management and staff at the De Havelet and the onsite restaurants made our stay very special and memorable, through their wonderful care and attention to detail,carried out in a professional, but also friendly manor. We would highly recommend this hotel and hope to return soon.

We stayed for 4 nights in June 19. The hotel was very clean, room large and spacious. Reception staff very friendly and helpful. We ate twice in the Copenhagen Restaurant and the food was amazing and service great. The only downside is the hill into town. The walk down was ok, but as I am on a walking stick, I did find the walk up difficult and found I was very breathless, but for anyone who is fit it is do-able. The view from the hotel over the sea and Castle Comet is great,

The hotel is in a stunning location overlooking the harbour with lots of outside space to sit, eat or drink in good weather. The room I stayed in was perfect with a balcony with sea view. Staff are extremely friendly and welcoming.

One of the best hotels we have stayed at, Staying 7 nights really put it to the road test. The staff were obliging and pleasant. The room was modern and exceptionally clean and had a few nice touches that we didn't expect (I won't tell you what as it will spoil the surprise). The view from the restaurant was stunning. We dined at both restaurants and all meals were excellent. There is a bit of a climb up to the hotel but if you ask at reception there is a slightly easier way and there is always a cutesy bus if you have problems. We enjoyed the use of the swimming pool and most of the time had it to ourselves. A very enjoyable holiday and hope to return in the future.

Planned to stay a single night on business. On my return to the UK my flight was cancelled due to bad weather. In a bit of panic I called the hotel and they found me a room. On arrival for the second (unplanned) night the staff were extremely accommodating and understanding; they even washed my shirt so I had some clean clothes for the next day. The hotel is a very nice hotel. However, it was the service of the staff that made this an excellent stay, rather than just a very good one. Will definitely return.

Having stayed here several times, this hotel has become the yardstick by which we judge others and few of them come anywhere close. We have visited hotels with similar or higher ratings and been disappointed by the lack of facilities, inferior fixtures and fittings and quality of food offerings compared to here. However, the greatest strength is the staff. The tone is set by management and followed by all the staff. You can rely on a smile and a cheerily appropriate greeting whenever you encounter them. Nothing is too much trouble for them whether it is a simple request for a small change to the menu or something more involved. It all gets done promptly and willingly.

This hotel is real luxury with it's beautiful large rooms and decor.It also boasts a gym and heated indoor pool surrounded by lovely gardens. The reception staff were helpful and friendly and the breakfast was excellent and included buffet style and a freshly cooked hot menu.This room is quite stunning with large windows overlooking St.Peter Port.The room we had was a superior double and offered a free turn down service at night with a delicious chocolate on our pillow.We really enjoyed this luxury hotel and highly recommend it to all visitors to Guernsey.It is a bit of a walk into town and uphill on the way back but this will give you some nice exercise for the day and keep you fit.

We have just returned from another holiday at the Havelet. As always the staff were very friendly and helpful and could not have made our stay more enjoyable. Two members of our family came with us this time and they thought the hotel was excellent in every way including the food, the room, the swimming pool complex and the friendliness of the staff. We have stayed in quite a few Best Western hotels and this hotel beats them all. Carry on the good work and the four of us will be back again at Christmas. .

Have stayed at the hotel several times and always been satisfied and impressed with the friendly welcome and service provided by all the staff from the top down. Rooms are spotless and all amenities first rate. Nothing is too much trouble in making your stay memorable for the right reasons.

Stayed from Friday to Monday, all staff are a credit to this hotel, very efficient, nothing to much trouble, we liked the idea of coffee, tea, biscuits and chocolate left in the room with the added touch of complimentary turn down at night. Lovely swimming pool with towels provided. The food was lovely. Would definitely recommend this hotel, and we will be returning.

Everything in the hotel is to a high standard and the staff are excellent, always cheerful and keen to help. We chose the location because we thought we could walk into St Peter port in the evening and sample the restaurants there. On the fist night we went to the hotel's Wellington Boot restaurant and didn't venture any further for the next 8 nights. It wasn't the walk that was the problem, it was because the food was so good). Several guests we spoke to were returning visitors to the hotel and it easy to understand why.

The hotel staff were very welcoming and nothing was to much trouble. Rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. Excellent food and service. The restaurant has amazing sea views. Courtesy bus into town.

I stay at the de Havelet at least once a fortnight for work, and often more frequently, commuting from London. I've tried many other hotels on the island, some of which are lovely, but for me this one has the very best combination of comfort, service and location. I particularly like the fans in every room, the fruit bowl, the lovely tea chest with chocolates and biscuits, and the truly excellent value breakfast (particularly if you book in advance, but even if you don't manage to do that). Finally, others have mentioned the wonderful staff, and I wholeheartedly agree. Nothing is too much trouble. Altogether, brilliant value for money and a place where I enjoy returning each week!

We had stayed at this hotel early last year and were looking forward to this short break, especially to see if the standards and enjoyment would be as good as before. We were very pleased to find out that they were, right from the welcoming at Reception through to eating at the Wellington/Copenhagen. We were in a different room this time and were very pleased that all aspects of the room were perfectly good for us. It was very warm when we first went in, maybe due to the fact we were right at the top of the hotel but once the air conditioning got going the comfort of the room was excellent. All facilities were as expected and the housekeeping of the room every day was excellent. We had no noise problems (maybe as we were at the top) and had no trouble sleeping. We had thought of locking ourselves in the room to stay longer but in the end we very reluctantly checked out. But we will be back!

Just come back from a stay at the De Havelet and I was really impressed. Whilst the accommodation was up to a good standard, what really impressed me was the staff. All the staff couldn't have been more helpful, from the check-in staff to the shuttle bus driver who made sure I didn't get wet in the rain.

This is our first visit, having stayed in 4 other hotels on the island I have to say this was the one I will return to. The staff on reception are helpful and always smiling. The rooms are spotless and the facilities are good. Its an excellent location for the short walk to town. Up hill on the way back, but there is also a bus provided by the hotel to help with this. They really have thought of everything. Really looking forward to our trip again next year.

Our third visit, this one being a 10 year anniversary - as excellent as on the other occasions, although the walk back up the hill takes a little effort (you can always take the hotel coach). Superb setting with excellent staff providing a superb service at all times.

I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough, when we come to Guernsey we always stayed here having stayed previously at the Richmond, OGH and St Pierre, we much prefer the atmosphere and welcome at the Havelet. The staff are always attentive and helpful. Nothing seems too much trouble. The internet is always working, food is excellent and very well priced and a quick walk into town, although the walk back is a bit of a killer! Only downside for us was that the twin room we booked (no 16) had very small single beds length wise - probably better suited to children.

We've been visiting the hotel for 10 years and have seen many changes and improvements to the hotel over the years. However, what hasn't changed and certainly needs no improvement, is the attitude of all the staff at all levels. The moment you arrive and receive a warm welcome from Kati and her reception staff, it's like returning to spend time with old friends. The rooms are comfortable and exceptionally clean. The food in both restaurants is of a consistently high standard, as is the service provided by Atilla and his team. Gennaro is always on hand to chat to guests to ensure that all is well. Everything was just perfect and the hard part was leaving!

Was very lucky to be put in this hotel again. Rooms are really good and well stocked. Water bottles are refreshed when necessary. All the staff are really helpful and friendly. Spa is very welcome after work too. If you don't have a car you do feel as if it's too much trouble to go out again, especially after a day's work, but that's mainly because of the hills up to the hotel - but that's fine. Onsite restaurant is excellent. Would love to come back for a leisure stay. Great views from the restaurants and car park. Oh if the times work for you there is a free bus service, and a free Island tour

I stayed here for a second time while visiting friends. The hotel is exactly what we need - clean, good sized room, close to town and with a pool. This will be the first hotel we look at for our next trip!

Well appointed room, clean and comfortable, good choice of food in the Wellington Boot restaurant both for dinner and breakfast and all very tasty, very friendly and accommodating staff and we had the optional afternoon tea which was excellent

Where to begin... wonderfully warm welcome on arrival... I had a gorgeous room looking out onto a gorgeous little courtyard with a lovely, calming fountain. I'm not usually a fan of hotel restaurants, but the food here is scrumptious and the restaurant staff were friendly and efficient and really made it a lovely evening. The wedding meal on Saturday was fantastic and a huge shout out to Andy, Brenda and the other 2 members of the team (I'm really sorry, but I didn't get your names in all the hubbub) for making it such a memorable evening. I really hope that I get the opportunity for a return visit!

Wow. All the write ups are absolutely true. Great service, food (beautifully presented), spa, cleanliness,grounds, facilities. Even a spinner to dry swimwear in the spa. I was in a room by the pool and quaint little gardens with fountain. The room had everything you could possibly want including some biscuits and yummy mints and hot chocolate (do not get this often and I do not drink tea or coffee). I certainly felt pampered on the much needed break. I could even print out my return flight boarding pass on the computer/printer in the lounge. The owners should be very proud and I do not understand a three star - think it should be 6.

This was booked for 4 of us for 4 nights in two excellent rooms through Booking.com. The hotel was very well appointed in many ways including the free use of a leisure pool/jacuzzi/steam and sauna rooms unsupervised whenever we wanted to use it. The restaurant staff were particularly good serving an excellent choice of food professionally and plenty of good humour!! These included Managers Luca, Andy - Chef Lazzaro - Bar Antonio - waitresses Alessia, Meekah and waiter Luigi. Due to the early time of year the Wellington Restaurant lacked diners and therefore atmosphere however, the Copenhagen Grill bar was busier and had a good buzz and was excellent value for money.

Greeted warmly by hotel staff, room spotlessly clean, outstanding service from all, (sound like a broken record) but it's true. Superb hospitality, and particularly like that the hotel manager Gennaro and deputy Sandis visit guests in the morning or evening to chat and make sure all is ok with your stay. Hotel is a short walking distance from St Peter Port, on an elevated position overlooking the castle and views of the harbour. Good indoor Pool, etc, quiet lounge with Computer and also occasional log fire is lit on bad weather days. Rooms, front facing pay the extra,in the main house orin the courtyard which is nearer to pool facilities. Newly refurbished superior courtyard rooms are fantastic but do not have baths so be specific when booking. Also refurbishment is going on in the area of the courtyard so can be noisy during the day, but this should be finished soon i am told. For that special treat, Book the Junior suite with direct access to patio. Restaurants, copenhagen Grill and Wellington Boot are in a separate building just feet away from the main house, (see separate reviews) Gardens are well looked after and there is a patio area near hotel, and gardens to lounge in at the back of the pool area. Please note that there are no lifts, so check when booking if stairs are a problem for you, and again, book direct and ask for deals, spring ,autumn etc and they will look after you. Will my husband and I return? Be back later in the year.

Why haven't I stayed here before I kept asking myself. Room was spotless, bed super comfy and recently made over. Shame they forgot the sound proofing. Staff are very friendly and super helpful. Pool is a nice touch and good views over the castle.

My wife and I have just returned from our first trip to Guernsey and we're very pleased we stayed at the De Havelet Best Western Hotel. The welcome and service were superb, the facilities very good and food excellent. Our room didn't have a sea view but it overlooked the garden and was quiet, as I think the whole hotel is. We would gladly come back to Guernsey and this hotel as it was very good value for money. We ate out at the Fat Rascal, a Thai Cafe (was it Oodles?) and at the Slaughterhouse. All were excellent with service at all three better than we are used to whilst the food at all three was excellent. We also took the No.92 bus around the island which is an excellent way to see the coast. Thank you to all our hosts. You couldn't have made our stay better.

My husband and I have just returned from a 3 night stay here. What a lovely hotel, and overall our experience was positive. We had a great superior room, which was very clean and superbly stocked with everything we could want. We especially enjoyed spending time in the Copenhagen Bar and Grille, both food drinks and nice meals. Breakfast was really nice, although we felt the Wellington Boot was too quiet and pretentious for our tastes. We also enjoyed some relaxation time in and around the pool and jacuzzi area. Overall staff are very professional and cannot do enough for their guests. Will definitely return!

We stayed at De Havelet for the Christmas break and had the most wondrous time!. The staff could not do enough for us,the cleaniness standards exceptionally high in all areas and the food scrummy! The entertainment package for the festive period was the best that we have experienced and very hands on. We had room 30 which overlooked the courtyard garden and was very quiet and included a bath, an added luxury these days it seems. The parking area was spacious and the Wellington restaurant has good views over the harbour. In fact we enjoyed it so much we are returning this year. Thank you Gennaro and team

After having To postpone our Staycation for two weekends due to illness. We were not disappointed. So glad I was better to enjoy the scrumptious afternoon tea. Followed by a long walk to make room for dinner in the Copehagen restaurant. Again the food was delicious. The staff thought the hotel were friendly and delightful. Our classic room and ensuite was spotless and had everything we required. Thank you for making our "staycation" a delight. We will be back!

This was our second stay at the hotel and we cannot praise it highly enough. It felt like coming home; we were greeted so warmly by Gennaro, Luca and their lovely staff on reception and so well looked after in the restaurant where we ate on two nights. The restaurant is in a new building and has a lovely view over the bay. It is very pretty with proper table-linen and well-spaced out tables. The set meal offers very good value for money and the breakfasts might be the best I have ever had. Best Cappuccino (Lavazza coffee) and so many nice things to be tempted by that it is hard not to over-indulge! The location is very peaceful (we had the same comfortable room overlooking the garden at the back) and yet it is only a five minutes' walk to town. After busy days of sightseeing and long coastal walks, we relaxed in the spotlessly clean pool and spa.

Recently stayed at the Hotel De Havlet and again was a perfect stay. Lovely rooms and service is always outstanding. Breakfast is superb and the Compenhagen and Wellington restaurants are top class. My preferred place to stay on the island and very hard to beat.

The hotel exceeded our expectations in all ways. All staff were efficient and went out of their way to please, with friendly faces all round, they couldn't have been more helpful. The room we had was spacious, comfortable and very clean. We stayed for 3 nights on a B and B basis, but after dining in the Copenhagen Bar on the first evening we decided to return here again on the other 2 nights, as both the food and standards of service within the restaurant were excellent. An added bonus was the use of the pool and jacuzzi, which we had mostly to ourselves. We would definitely have no reservations or hesitation in recommending this fantastic hotel to others and is certainly one that we would come back to on future visits to the island.

Did an overnight "staycation" and everything was fab. Very attentive staff, excellent food and we had the pool & jacuzzi to ourselves! Hoping to do it again sometime soon. Highly recommended if you want to step off the hamster wheel for 24 hours or so.

Fantastic hotel the staff go beyond expectations to check everything is ok and management very visible. Would definitely stay again great location short walk to St Peter's Port. Copenhagen bar and grill food really good and very modern surroundings, Wellington boot restaurant decor needs bringing up to date but wouldn't hesitate rebooking.

We have stayed at the dehavelet a few times now but not recently for a couple of years and never at Christmas time, we arrived on Christmas Eve to be warmly greeted by Kati and Sandis on reception it was just like coming home. We have lovely memories from our previous visits to dehavelet and our Christmas visit has left us with a few more wonderful memories to treasure. During our stay we wanted for nothing a programme of organised events plus a few visits to the swimming pool kept us and our daughter fully occupied. The food was wonderful the customer service second to none Genarro and Sandis (the management) always attentive making sure that everyone was having a good time. The dehavelet is a little gem on the isle of guernsey and is a must for those people who like good old fashion customer service and wonderful and exciting food. A big THANK YOU to everyone at the hotel dehavelet for making our first Christmas away from home such a unforgettable one. Stayed for 3 nights in January and I cannot fault this hotel and I have stayed in many. The location is superb, albeit on a steep hill but really not too bad and there is a route you can take to town that is easier and also taxis are cheap. Walk to centre of town around ten minutes but worth it. The hotel is lovely and run by a great team and a very welcoming manager. The rooms are of high quality and very spacious with a good selection of tea and coffee. Swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna is a real treat and great after a day of exploring. The restaurant and bar is also a treat with great food and wine and excellent service. Room service is offered for breakfast and dinner at no extra charge. I had a great three night break and would not hesitate to return to this hotel. I would like to thank the Manager and his team for a lovely stay and hope to return again.

Yet another faultless and really enjoyable stay at The DeHavelet. The food was absolutely superb with great variety and quality, prepared by a really great chef Mohammed !! The staff in the Restaurant were so obliging and the service given by Restaurant Manager Atilla and Andy was outstanding. In fact, the whole staff throughout deserve to be congratulated on how they treat the guests, being so courteous and helpful. Any request that we made during our stay were met without any problems at all. Thank you Gennaro & Sandis for making our stay so enjoyable. Look forward to returning again soon.

Another lovely trip to Hotel de Havelet. Bedrooms have had a facelift since we last came and these were very well done. A very Christmassy feel to the hotel with lovely decorations. We sat several times in the lounge in front of the open fire which was very welcoming. Staff all friendly and helpful as well. First time on Guernsey in December and it was very enjoyable.

I am giving Genarro and his staff a 5 star review for the quick, polite and very helpful service i received throughout, and for the view, room quality and vegetarian food. I initially had a problem with a broken bed, which was instantly corrected with no fuss and a great room upgrade. I am happy to give 5 stars for places that put problems right - things go wrong from time to time wherever you are, so how the staff respond is often a real measure of quality. There's a nice sea view from the restaurant and I'm happy to say an entire vegetarian menu, a far cry from the usual solitary mushroom pasta 'option'. I loved the baked brie and strawberry salad. Travellers tip; many of the cabs only take cash and can get booked up solid at peak times, so come prepared.

I have organised 2 events here and both have been amazing. It's a great venue, well-organised and the staff are so attentive, professional and couldn't do enough for us. Last night, we had a Christmas get-together for 25 people and everyone loved the venue. we had a sumptuous buffet that exceeded all our expectation and was more than enough. Highly recommended

Greeted by reception with a smile and a welcome present, how nice. Too early to check-in, headed to the bar for a refreshing drink, bar staff equally friendly and very engaging. Back to reception for our room key, room very clean with traditional / modern furnishings. Bathroom spotless with very white fluffy towels, on further investigation found a bowl of fresh fruit in the room, unexpected, but it certainly makes a difference. On half-board terms, restaurant staff extremely friendly, the Restaurant Manager certainly has a great team and he is well supported by the kitchen staff. One of the trainees (Brenda) was very professional and her smile was so friendly, put you instantly at ease. Our room was serviced daily and it was a delight to return late afternoon to a spotless room, credit to housekeeping staff. Made 2 visits to the spa, a gem, well worth a visit, the hotel overall is a gem, certainly well worth a visit, any downside to this hotel, well yes, one, it is halfway up a steepish hill, and two, we didn't stay long enough.

Stayed for 10 days in both September and November/December. In two different rooms. The latter in a recently refurbished one which now has air conditioning instead of a radiater.If looking at any downside,the shower is situated inside the bath,so you have to climb in to shoiwer.If you have any mobility problems it can be difficult.Also,you can hear other air con units when they are working. Always wonder how the cleaning staff are so efficient. If you drink the water,it is replaced. As is the fruit and all the items in the "Tea Box",even if you eat just one mint. Breakfast is always a nice way to start the day with ample supplies of everything you need and orders taken for anything cooked.You also have the view. There is of course the swimming pool,jacuzzi,steam room and sauna. The latter visit was the first time we had seen the open fire in the lounge and we did spend some pleasant times here. All staff from the bottom to the top we have always found friendly,helpfull and efficient.

I couldn't recommend this hotel highly enough. We were staying for a combined business and leisure stay and were welcomed with an unannounced early check in as if it were no problem at all. All the staff were helpful and very pleasant and the restaurant staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Meals were varied and of very good quality with a good wine list. The room we stayed in was an upgrade to that booked and comfortable with good facilities and very clean. The pool was an added bonus, warm and very clean. We will certainly stay here again when in St Peter Port.

A warm welcome was received from reception and we checked into our well appointed large room, comfy bed and lovely bathroom. Very well stocked tea tray with biscuits and fruit. Enjoyed the excellent pool and jacuzzi. V good breakfast is served in the Wellington Boot restaurant. Great location for views and getting into St Peter Port.

My second visit to Guernsey, first stay at this marvelous hotel. After 20+ hours of travel, I was looking for QUIET and a helpful staff. Found both the Hotel de Havelet. My room was on the ground level, overlooking the terrace and (indoor) pool. It was quite small, with a twin bed, but that was absolutely OK with me. (Solo female traveler.) It was big enough, spotlessly clean, and had a great bathroom. Because of the way it's situated in this old building, it was accessed through a separate small hallway that was almost like a foyer, since it only lead to my room. I loved it! (But it could be a bit of a challenge if you're not comfortable with stairs.) And the staff! Wow! Incredibly friendly, helpful and just fun to talk to! When my business partner had difficulty flying out because of some bad storms, they absolutely bent over backward helping him negotiate the airline phone calls and arrangements. The hotel (like most hotels in Guernsey) is in an old house, so it sort of roams all over the place in terms of layout. I find that charming and much more interesting than a modern, cookie-cutter hotel. The bathroom was perfectly equipped (loved the mirror in the shower) and the heated towel rack is such a luxurious little detail. We only had one meal in the restaurant - breakfast on our last day. Since it was November, we had the place to ourselves. Service was excellent, food very good, too. One TINY little observation - Please get real hangers, and not those annoying two-piece things. Feels silly to even mention it, but it makes a guest feel like a potential thief :) And if the hangers are old, they snag one's clothing. A cautionary note for anyone driving their own car: The approach to the hotel is very, very tricky! We got a lift one day from a lorry driver who took pity on our lost faces, and he could not negotiate the entrance and dropped us off at the foot of the street. To be fair, that's a LORRY and not a car....but be advised. The hotel does not have a bar, but you'll have a blast at the Dorset Arms pub just a few yards away. (Be sure to pet Pubcat while you're there!) The Hotel is an easy walk into Town (the Port area) and the indoor pool is gorgeous.

The hotel is an older style but all facilities are up to date. The rooms are well equipped clean and comfortable. Ours was on a lower level so it didn't have much day light but not a problem if you dont spend too long in it. The pool and spa area was clean towels were available and at this time of year it wasn't too busy. We didnt visit the Wellington restaurant but ate twice in the Copenhagen Grill and the food was excellent as was the service. The reception staff were polite friendly and helpful. The hotel has plenty of parking if you have a car. It is situated at the top of a steep hill so if dont have a car bear this in mind. Overall would certainly use it again.

Another great stay at the Hotel de Havelet. It's such a pleasure staying there! Friendly and efficient staff, lovely public areas and very comfortable rooms. We ate twice at the Copenhagen Bar and Grill, which is cosy and very good. In short, great hotel, great staff - looking forward to our next visit already!

I have now stayed at the Hotel de Havelet twice and each time it has exceeded my expectations. Staff are friendly and helpful and rooms comfortable. There is a pool with jacuzzi and nice lounge areas to relax in away from your room. Each time, I have eaten at the Copenhagen restaurant and Wellington Boot restaurants on site. These are perfect and staff more than accommodating and friendly.Thanks for the great service - I will be back!

This Hotel has plenty of Parking though like anywhere in Guernsey you need only a small car to navigate the small roads. The Rooms are spacious on the amenities provided are good. Comfortable beds and good hot water

Checked in late on my first ever visit to this hotel. I was warmly greeted at reception by a most helpful male member of the team. Briefed me that I was being upgraded free plus handed me lots of useful documents regarding local facilities. The room was fab, good size, clean, a great bathroom and a view out over Havelet Bay. Having been recommended dinner at the in-house Copenhagen restaurant I booked a table for 1. Arrived to be warmly greeted, seated at an excellent high table in a good spot. Dinner was tasty I had three courses (unusual for me) Started with maple glazed pork ribs - great choice. For main I chose Copenhagen spiced sausages. Presented well, tasted fabulous. Glazed strawberry cheesecake rounded off my evening dinner in the fabulous restaurant. My drink selection for the evening was a couple of pints of Breda. Slept really well in my room. Woke, showered and went for a jolly decent small English breakfast with good range of juices and good coffee. Check out was swift, another pleasant member of staff ended a great one night corporate visit.

We booked using our Tesco Clubcard points as we had never been to Guernsey. What a delightful hotel. It looks old fashioned in places but the rooms and service are excellent. Not sure how the Star ratings work but this is more than three star. Really had a great time and the staff were so friendly and helpful. On our list to return. Thanks for making our stay so lovely.

Stayed in a standard king room looking into the garden close to the pool. The bed was comfortable and the room itself larger than expected, we did not bump into each other when getting ready. Bath towels were really fluffy. The room had tea and coffee provided. The staff in the hotel were extremely helpful throughout the stay. We stayed bed and breakfast and were pleased that we had, although vegan choice was limited, it was possible to mix and match from all the cooked breakfasts on offer.

This was our first time staying at the Hotel de Havelet and we were very impressed. We received a free room upgrade. The staff went above and beyond to ensure we had a comfortable stay. The room was beautiful and the food included was excellent. There spa is also really lovely. We will definitely be staying again.

Excellent service from all staff. Lovely comfortable,clean room. We stayed Bed & Breakfast and the breakfast can certainly be recommended. About a ten minute walk downhill to the harbour, so unless you have hired a car remember there is a good ten minute walk back up the hill! (or you can use the hotel shuttle service at certain times) An excellent bus service, each trip costing £1. We caught a number 91 from the station at the harbour which took us right around the island - still for only £1! Our first trip to Guernsey and hopefully not our last.

Really impressed with the level of service provided by all the staff at this hotel, good food, accommodation and facilities. The staff were attentive at all times and if something was not available they would let you know before hand or suggest a suitable alternative, faultless service. Good spa with pool, sauna and steam room and all in excellent condition.

We cannot rate this hotel too highly. It is beautifully situated overlooking St Peter Port and is very well appointed with spotless rooms and a spacious lounge area. The staff were unfailingly friendly, helpful, & efficient. Breakfast was served in the restaurant - again with panoramic views over the town - with a wide choice of cooked and continental breakfasts of a very high quality. We didn't take dinner in the restaurant but the bar meals we had were excellent.

We were a party of 16 friends staying at the hotel in early September for 8 nights and the whole group were delighted with the exceptional service, delicious food and the general helpfulness of all the staff. We were given sole use one of the rooms in the main house each evening to play our friendly games of bridge. Any requests were dealt with swiftly and courteously by every member of staff. The hotel is well placed above St Peter Port and we made good use of the buses from the square using our Puffin pass. Together with the beautiful, sunny weather, our trip to tranquil Herm and our coastal and inland walks, it was a wonderful holiday. Thanks to Gennaro and all his staff.

we went to visit our son & partner who drove us round the island, this was the first time we have been to Guernsey but will not be the last. Guernsey is great for a simple and peaceful week's holiday. The cliff path walks and scenery are among the best in Europe. My family and I stayed here in September. We have been before and are always greeted with a genuine welcome which might have been reserved for royalty. The rooms are perfect for our needs - comfortable, clean, tastefully modernised in keeping with the Georgian style of the old house, and with all the facilities we require, including a choice of pillows. The pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi are fantastic for winding down in before getting ready for an evening meal - there are secluded grounds you can sun bath or relax in just outside. The two restaurants have attentive serving staff and great chefs. The menus provide a good choice and if there is nothing on the set menu you fancy, the hotel is happy to let you pick something from a la cart or the menu from the other restaurant. Three of us, for example, had Steak Diane cooked to perfection at our table by the Restaurant Manager, Atilla. On another occasion, a mushroom sauce was cooked specially (by the hotel manager!) to go with my veal schnitzel. The breakfast menu is one of the best I have come across anywhere and includes a wide selection of cooked and buffet items. All members of staff - from trainees to long serving employees; across all areas of the hotel - have a warmth of spirit, good-natured friendliness, honesty and willingness to please which we have experienced in few other places. Nothing is too much trouble. Ever. No matter what. I emailed about bringing my drone to Guernsey before we arrived and the hotel manager contacted Guernsey Air Traffic Control to find out the rules for me. I also asked the hotel to make sure we had booked a week of good weather and sunshine. True to form, even this was laid on! Whether by the management or divine intervention I'm not sure, but from my experience of the hotel going the extra mile, I'm inclined to think they even have a hot line to heaven...

Stayed here back in May for my first visit to Guernsey with a friend. Without a doubt the best hotel I've ever been too. The room was huge and we even had a call from reception to make sure everything was OK with the room which I've never experienced anywhere I've stayed before. Breakfast was very nice and the service was really good with nice views from the restaurant out toward the harbour. Not too far from the town and it is quite a nice walk. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again if returning to Guernsey in the future.

We stayed here for five days on full board terms and thought it good value for the Channel Islands. Our room looked out over the harbour - well worth the premium and was kept well serviced during our stay, we enjoyed the daily fresh fruit. Breakfast was good - both hot and cold offerings. Dinner in the Wellington Boot restaurant was also good value. My only two minor criticisms are that for dinner on the first night we were served delicious lamb cutlets, but came with tempura courgette and paprika fries ( which didn't gel for me) and on the Monday night when the Wellington Boot is closed, we should have been given an allowance to dine off the a la carte menu in the Copenhagen bistro. When we checked our bill on departure, we found that the allowance hadn't been deducted - don't know whether that was down to bistro staff or reception staff, but it was quickly addressed when we spotted it. Hence one star knocked off as this was disappointing in an otherwise well run hotel with great staff.

Stayed at De Havelet for about the 7th or 8th time. High standards have been maintained all round with food, staff and room. This really is an exceptional 3 star hotel and is superior to 4 star hotels that I have stayed in.

This was the second time we had returned to this hotel. It's position is ideal and with their own courtesy minibus gives an insight to all parts of the island on a free special tour and lifts to town centre. Our room was spacious, clean and tidy each day with plenty of hot water and excellent towelling robes. The restaurant quality, menu, service and ambiance cannot be faulted, thank you. This hotel has senior management visibility and is one of the Best Western Hotels in which we have stayed. 2019 here we come again.

Brilliant six days at Best Western Havelet Guernsey. Superb staff excellent service and an immaculately maintained hotel. Bravo to a fantastic team. Highly recommended and will definitely come back again.
