My niece and I travel a lot so our expectations of hotels outside the US are quite different than most people who are new to travel. With that being said, the. hotel was clean, the breakfast was quite good, the coffee machines were open 24/7, the staff at the front desk was wonderful. They were always able to assist us and spoke good English considering that we spoke not one word of Bulgarian. The location may be a tad gritty to some but I have never felt safer walking the streets at night and the people were very nice . A great trip !!
Don't turn up with high expectations, and you won't be disappointed. The hotel is really trying to be comfortable and in many areas it is. The bed is comfortable and the shower is excellent. It's in a reasonably good location if you like to walk, with trams outside the door, but food options around are limited. The decor is dated, but everything does what it's meant to do.
Horrible experience We stayed for two nights. Nothing looked like the pictures on their website. Misleading information on their website. The pictures and description make it look like a modern 4-star hotel, when it is indeed FAR from it. Should be 1 Star. They charge you upfront. Hotel is an old property with spotted floors, dirty carpets, broken baseboards, an overall sense of decadence and dust/ spots everywhere. Dirty room, non-smoking but smells of cigarettes. Broken or worn up furniture. You can hear other guests from other rooms. Mattresses dented. Bathroom ceiling with leak stains. Fan in the bathroom clogged with dirt, terribly noisy and not working at all. Safe do not work at all. A miserable hotel. No wifi at the room, only at the lobby. Breakfast was quite modest, terrible taste. The hairdryer did not work.
It was very late at night when we arrived - flight delayed. Kitchen is not opened except for breakfast only. We had no choice but to walk around searching for food and finally, at a gas station! Better than nothing😅 Room is generally clean but very tired looking. The drapes, carpets, etc need replacement. Service is ok. Breakfast was complimentary and the spread is sufficient and good. Location is good - walking distance to most sights.
The staff was very professional, friendly and helpful. The breakfast was extensive and tasty. The location was great, completely walkable to all of the sights. However, the hotel needs a renovation. The room was comfortable and roomy, and the bathroom and bedding were clean. The carpet was stained and needs replacing, and the baseboards are damaged.
3 nights. Great location. I didn't have to walk more than 15 minutes as a tourist. Very pleasant and helpful staff. Clean room and comfortable bed. Breakfast was very good. And the variety changed a bit each morning – I don't always see that with Best Western properties. The airport ride was about 40 minutes and 25 BGN each way. Note that I arrived during rush hour and departed midday in the rain. The front desk called a taxi for me. Another feature of the hotel is laundry. I was in the middle of a 18 day trip and wanted to find a launderette. The hotel provides laundry service by the bag, so not priced by individual items. Same day service, convenient, and very reasonably priced.
I've stayed at Best Western Plus Bristol hotel for 1 night only and sadly it rather didn't meet my expectations. But there were still some pros and I'll start from them: a) I was allowed to check in earlier, b) As a Best Western Rewards member I was upgraded to a Junior Suite free of charge, c) Receptionist was friendly and professional. Cons: the property definitely needs refurbishment and this was clearly visible in my room. Bed linens on the edges were dirty (yellow stains). There were 2 TV's in the junior suite and remote control for one of them was not working properly. Sofa's surface was quite ripped and didn't look presentable. The hotel is not located in a very nice area, but close to Serdika metro station and a shopping mall though. Breakfast was quite modest. I would not say the staff in a breakfast area was that friendly. I don't think I will stay at this property again as there are surely better accommodation options in Sofia.
The room was dirty , nothing looked like the pictures. The only positive are the staff, the star is for them The room small, when we came back after long walk in the morning around 2 pm the room still was not done , it seems they do not have enough staff , when I complained I was told the housekeeping will be done 5 pm? In the pictures it looked you have a nice lobby that you could enjoy but far from true I usually hate to give negative feedback but felt I need to this time
I can not recommend this hotel. The carpet in the room was very dirty, the bed cover as well. It has bedbugs! I realized the bites on my legs as I was leaving the hotel. Everything was very dark. The hairdryer did not work. The hot water maker was filthy.
very nice hotel, staff are friendly and helpful. shower is excellent, rooms spacious and clean. there is a safe in the room which is very handy, the hotel is well situated to get around the city. down points, the breakfast had a great choice but the cooked food was never hot in the four days we were there. we would definately stay there again
The hotel is centrally placed in Sofia - great for sightseeing on foot, but also not far from tram stops, if you want to go further afield. The decor is a bit old-fashioned, but it was clean and comfortable: breakfast was served between 7am-10am, which was great if you'd had a late night! There was also a wide choice at breakfast, from cooked to Continental. We had an en-suite on the first floor, with a lovely big wet-room. The staff were great - really polite and helpful; nothing was too much trouble for them. I just wish my Bulgarian was better! (Google Lens is a great app to have on your phone - especially for translating menus, etc.) It's always appreciated if you can manage some basics, even it it's just good morning, please and thank you.
Overall a very pleasant, relaxing and memorable stay. Great choice of breakfast menu with cooked options. Staff very friendly and helpful, booked excursions for us, recommended restaurants and were patient with our persistent questioning! Room and bathroom not the cleanest and we couldn't get the safe to work. Shower was great though! Our one tip for would-be travellers is to keep an open mind and not be too put off by negative reviews. Bulgaria is a young country that is only now opening up to Western tourism. Some folk out there love to whinge and complain about everything!
We would never return to that hotel due to cleanliness and it didn't feel like anywhere you possibly want to spend time if you could be anywhere else. The bedding seemed clean but again the bed itself was not even as high as my knees as though the box spring was missing.
This hotel was a good place to stay. It had a very good breakfast with traditional Bulgarian food. The service was also very good. They helped with whatever I needed and gave excellent recommendations. I recommend this hotel because it is a great location to travel around Bulgaria and neighboring countries
Pictures on website are misleading. Hotel is an old property with spotted floors, carpets, broken baseboards, an overall sense of decadence and dust/ spots everywhere. Broken or worn up furnitures, cigarette holes in curtains, terrible breakfast experience. You can hear other guests from other rooms.
Was here for a few nights in early Oct 22. Room (5th floor) had no view to speak of but the room was ok (not that big but spotlessly clean) and the bathroom was excellent (great walk in shower) and a good size. Breakfast was fairly basic but quite a few options (hot and cold). The reception staff were very friendly. Don't recall the Managers name but he was very helpful re looking after baggage (after check out time) and general directions/guidance about the city. Hotel is about 10-15 min walk from the main tourist hot spot (Vitosha Boulevard (lovely place).
First time in Sofia and landed lucky choosing this hotel as room was comfortable and clean and the hotel staff were polite and helpful. Good location 5 minute walk to the city centre and taxi to the airport very reasonable at 22Lev which the receptionist kindly booked for me. Will definitely return to this hotel.
Dimitar at the reception is truly an amazing and heartwarming person. If you are checked in by him you are in luck. Plus I had a comfortable stay at this unassuming but welcoming hotel. My room is spacious and quiet, bed is firm and comfortable. Breakfast is delicious with large selections.
A truly lovely hotel with excellent employees. Stayed here twice while on vacation. Excellent location with easy access to public transport. Highly recommend this hotel. Will be back. Shout out to Stefan on the front desk who was very helpful with any queries, Callum, Stefan & Finbarr
The hotel is highly recommend. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. The food and bathroom are comfortable and very clean The breakfast is rather simple but fresh and delicious. The location is in a quiet place but close to the center. Really liked the place. The guys at the reception - Nicola and Yasen are the best!
Great location, 10 min from centre, near metro station and Billa. Excellent breakfast. The room was clean with air conditioning. Receptionist are helpful and speak English fluently. A small gym is available at any time. It does not have everything, it is not the cleanest, but it is sufficient.
This hotel have the main advantage. That is location. Breakfast was ok, they have everything. This was my second time to go to this hotel. The rooms are big and clean, the service people were pleasent. Next time for sure I will try some other hotel.
The hotel is in a very good location, everything can be reached easily with maximum 10 minutes walk from here. Spacious room, very nice helpful and kind staff. Very clean room and bathroom, very good value for money. Perfect for couples for a city visit.
The hotel is located in the centre of Sofia, very close to the Serdica metrostation and Vitosha Boulevard. Staff is amazing! They helped me and my boyfriend with everything, from our covid tests to printing some documents for us. They're all extremely prepared and kind. The hotel, however, is old. Stained curtains and bedsheets, ripped wallpaper, weird lighting in the bathroom. Breakfast is underwhelming as well, but staff definitely makes up for all of it.
Our experience in this hotel was perfect! Room was clean and plenty of space, bed was very comfortable and we could have a very good rest after a long day. Staff was very Profesional and helpful all time. Definitely we recommend this hotel and we will com back for sure.
This hotel is incredibly deceiving. The pictures and description make it look like a modern 4-star hotel, when it is indeed FAR from it. First sign of trouble is, they will charge you upfront, which makes it harder to leave and get a refund. The minute you enter the room, you'll find a an old door that is not 100% secure. The carpet is old and smells, the furniture is old, the fixtures are old, there is not a sense of cleanliness. The biggest issue was the air conditioner not working. When brought to the attention of the front desk, they would give you a canned answer of: "it will take some time for the room to cool down, and to leave the window close". The A/C never cooled the room down, and it kept blowing slightly hot air, clearly not working at all. I brought it up to the front desk and they said there was nothing they could do, I asked for a different room with a working A/C, they said they didn't have any (not true), I ask for a fan, they did not provide one. I tried to open the window but it faced the street which meant the I could hear the tram stopping in front of the hotel every hour, plus I could hear the people in the street and smell the cigarette smoke. Horrible night, I left at 6 am in the morning in route to a better hotel to save my vacation.
Basic room. No amenities. I know its covid but very poor. 1 Man on desk. Charged us 46 for 1 litre of water and 1 miniature gin because we used mini bar. Only arrived at midnight and left early morning. He wasn't nice I think we were putting him out for turning up
The staff was amazing, so as their service. They were all kind with a smile upon their faces. They had answers for our problems, they bended over backwards to help us. Being in a foreign country without knowing the language I felt more than safe here.
We stayed her for 1/2 a night, because we needed to catch an early flight. The junior suite was interestingly shaped with a low ceiling at points. Also for some reason there was a lot of outside noise in the middle of the night. But are stay was good especially because of the very central location.
The hotel is not very big, but it definitely exceeded my expectations. The room was very clean, the bathroom very spacious and the breakfast was really good. The location is perfect for anyone visiting Sofia and wanting to walk around the centre. It offers parking as well.
Excellent place, warm and nice! The staff was very kindly and friendly. Very comfortable and clean room. The hotel was in center, so to move and see the city was easy. One place that I'll come back again.
The hotel is very clean. It is also very affordable the rooms are comfortable and complimentary breakfast is really good. It takes about 10 minutes to walk to the centre. There are a couple markets near the hotel that are open 24 hrs.
I am really pleased with the visit to this hotel. Rooms were really good, breakfast were really good, we got everything we wanted. Very good quality of food. There were really good parking opportunities behind the hotel. Location of hotel is perfect . I gave 5 stars to this hotel. Recommend to families with young children. We were two adults and two children. Felix / Martina Halmstad / Sweden
We stayed with my partner for one night while on a Balkan road trip. Location is great, easily accessible by car, yet close to many points of interest. Rooms are big, classy but a bit outdated. Ours had a “view” on the interior void between neighbouring buildings, a bit depressing. Bathroom was amazing! Breakfast was really great! Staff is super helpful! Overall I would recommend it, it's a value for money choise.
Great four star hotel Centrally located in walking distance from many attractions Great service very clean and comfortable Good breakfast buffet Most helpful staff Also received a complimentary entrance to Victoria spa
The hotel is well located to visit most of the city centre sights, there is also a tram stop within 50 meters of the hotel. The staff in the hotel reception were very helpful and friendly and are able to advise and book excursions for you. The rooms are very clean and of a good size,a good choice on offer at breakfast. I would stay here again without a second thought.
It is not luxury, but it is adequate and near the Center of Sofia. The stuff was super helpful and polite. Walking distance from all the sightseeing locations as from the nightlife venues as well (20 mins). The room was a little small and the air conditioning- heating system a little noisy but the amenities in general were ok and the breakfast served was superb
The hotel is only 4 minutes walk from the Metro .The bad thing was the air con was pumping out hot air so made the room boiling The breakfast was fine and a variety of hot and cold. The carpet in the lift needs replacing as rather grubby
From the very first moment we entered the hotel, everyone treated us in a perfect way! First of all I want to congratulate all the staff for their professionalism! They were always smiley and tried to answer all of our questions. They helped us with suggestions for food, ordering us taxis, reservations and anything else you can imagine. Special thanks to maitre(I think he was the maitre) and the groom who helped us in a last minute transfer we needed. Also special thanks to Nikola and all others from reception. Sorry we didn't catch everybodys name. Except the lovely staff, rooms were great, very warm and cozy. They cleaned them every single day and changed all used toiletries. Breakfast was also cool, everyday something new and fresh croissants every morning. Location also perfect within a walking distance to all the major sites and 10 minutes on foot from the center. What can i say? Bravo guys continue the hard and good job!!
Good location, a short walk from Serdika metro station, which is the centre of town. Tram stop very close. Reasonably priced. Good sized rooms on 7 floors. Bathrooms were well designed with good water pressure for the shower. Wifi was good. Buffet breakfast had everything you need but could be a bit crowded. Staff were great, with excellent suggestions for nearby restaurants. Only downer was the rooms got incredibly hot during the night despite the AC set to cool. Howver, opening the window soon solved that one. A good base for exploring the city
Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights in December. Good location, not far from Serdika metro station which has a direct link to the airport. Room was a good size, quite modern and appears to have a relatively recent upgrade on the bathroom as it's all very new looking. Breakfast was included in my booking. Food was good, varied a bit each morning and plenty available. Staff all speak good English and very friendly and helpful. Also received a voucher for a free visit to Victoria spa which was a good way of passing a few hours on my final day. Good value, good location hotel.
Stayed here for three nights to explore Bulgaria for the first time. The staff is exceptional and make you feel welcome since the first day! Thank you Nikola and Diana for always looking after our requests :) breakfast has a lot of variety and local products. The rooms are clean and comfortable. When requesting for a room avoid the boulevard side since it can be noisy during the morning period. Overall an excellent stay!
Small room ,nice roomy lobby, excellent service, walking distance to the main historical sites. Good breakfast with friendly service and always ready to serve you. Very friendly service from de concierge. Will recomend!
Great location, friendly staff that can speak English, works well if you are doing business in Sofia. They can also organise hire cars and guided tours. Remember to make sure to include the optional breakfast.
The hotel staff were amazing. They helped with everything from booking a tour outside the city, to taxis, directions and information. I have arrived 2 hours before check in but they gave me the room straight away which was very nice of them. The room was not very big but was nice and had everything which you need from a hotel. The breakfast was great with a lot of choices from sweets to sour. Overall I had amazing experience and will choose Best Western again. Thank you guys.
Spent one night here visiting for the Bulgaria v England game. If you're expecting 5 star opulence then this isn't the place for you. Like a lot of Best Westerens, if could do with a refurb. However that said, the room was comfortable, bed linen clean, wifi worked and the shower worked really well too. Breakfast was OK with reasonable choice and staff we spoke to were pleasant and helpful. There's not much to see in the imeadiate area but you are about 10mins walk away from the main area with shops, places to eat etc. So its a good place to sleep if you've got other plans for your days so on that level it works fine.
We had a room on the 4th floor facing the main street. We arrived at the hotel around 4pm after walking in the city the whole day, to get some rest. The room was hot. The AC didn't work, in fact, hot air came out. The front desk told us that on the beginning of Oct. They switch from cooling to heating. We opened the window for fresh air but the street was so noisy, we couldn't sleep. We had a reservation for 4 nights but had to leave earlier to another hotel
the place is nicely located where most of the places are walking distance. the rooms are ok and clean.the staff is helpful. we only had breakfast there and have 1 feedback that they should segregate the placement of their food items as per vegetarian and non- vegetarian so it is easier for the Vegans.
I stayed here a number of times on business. I found this hotel to be very comfortable and clean. I had left an electronic item of mine behind in the room. The hotel did everything they could to return this to me. I am very grateful for their support and help and will stay here many more times.
I stayed four nights at Best Western Plus Bristol Hotel Sofia. The hotel is close to the metro station Serdika (5 minutes walking) and to the city center (10 minutes walking to Vitosha Boulevard). My room was on the 6th floor and it was on the back, so it was very quiet with no noise from outside. The room was spatious, the bed was OK and everything was in working order, but there was an unpleasant moldy smell that was difficult to eliminate. The air conditioning worked well, but it was noisy. The bathroom was OK, with a spatious shower. Furnitures were OK, but they saw better days. Breakfast was very good, with plenty of choices. Front desk staff were friendly and helpful.
Besides being an excellent hotel, it's about 20-30 minutes to the St Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, and on the way to it, you will find the most important places of the city, it's about 10-15 minutes to the Boulevard Vitosha.
This is a good hotel in a good location. No frills but good breakfast and decent room. Not far to walk to the main streets (maybe 5 minutes). On arrival they gave us a map and showed us some nearby attractions which was a great help to get our bearings
We stayed for two nights. The hotel was very ordinary and even old. The rooms had a low standard. The servants did not know English. The breakfast room was very small and simple and primitive. They really did not pay for the money they received.
First the good things: walking distance (in all directions) from many of Sofia's attractions, whether local or international, and also from Serdika metro. Attractive room, friendly staff, water that ranged from verrrrrrry hot to equally cold (nice!) and a terrific breakfast buffet. All quite comfortable. However ... When I logged into Wi-Fi, and for the first and only time on this long multi-city trip, my anti-virus software was kept busy every few seconds fighting off one computer virus in particular (JSCombiner) and I got so worried it had infected my computer beyond repair. However when I got to the next city, all was OK. I am not a computer expert but is it possible the hotel's own server is infected and is broadcasting that virus? One other thing: my language is English, and in the lobby and at breakfast, English news was playing on the TVs. This also seemed odd because the room TV had no such stations. It took the better part of a day for someone to come up and re-tune the room's TV, and then there were many more choices. Would I stay here again? Yes, because if (I stress *if*) that virus attack was coming from the hotel itself, they would have fixed it by then.
Booked this hotel because it was near the delta blues bar . Very clean pleasant hotel Staff spoke English and reception was 24hrs , they park your car for you for 8euro per night . Breakfast can also be served in room . WiFi excellent
The staff here in general was very nice; Yasser stands out in his attentiveness. We stayed two days, but after the first night, our room was not cleaned (despite us putting a sign on the door). We were also told not to drink the water, but then told to use the minibar water, which we were charged for when we left.
The location was great, just a short walk ti the main street. We got very big double room which was quiet which was amazing because the hotel is on a street where the tram passes. We had included breakfast which was very good. First time staying at Best Western Hotel and now I am a member which can lead to many benefits( when staff offers to enroll you always say yes). We will definitely come back at Sofia and will stay at the Bristol. Keep the food work guys.
The hotel is very centrally located, like 10 minutes walk from the pedestrian street. Breakfast was included and had more than enough to offer. There is a parking located close to the hotel which was not expensive and the bellboy drove our car and brought it back when we needed it. The cleaning was very good and all the staff which we met were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant is not working on the weekends which is not very convinient but there were pleanty of choices in the center. Would definitely recommend the hotel.
The hotel is very closed to the center of the city.We got a quiet room and it was a perfect choice. The staff was very nice .The food is not a good choice but overall our stay was good and cheap.Would recommend this hotel.
We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights. The service was super good! We had our breakfast delivered to our room every morning for a very small extra cost. We got to choose whatever we wanted to include and it was always delivered on time. The room was a bit dark (few lights) but nice and clean. They also offered to park the car and it wasn't too expensive and also nice to don't have to search for available parking space. All the staff was very friendly and service minded.
We haven't met a problem. Rooms are clean, breakfast is enough. The hotel isn't in the middle of centre but it takes only 15 minutes to reach the most popular spots. There is Galata Restaurant opposite the hotel, you should also try there.
A nice and cozy hotel, in the best tradition of the Best Western hotels. The staff was super helpful (we had a problem with the air-condition in our room and they changed the room). The breakfast was very diversified, with various choices and, of course, tasty/
Bad experience with an awful hotel. It claims to have 4 stars but I wouldn't have given it 3. I must start with a good word for the staff and say they did try to be nice and help with everything but a smile and some good intentions don't compensate for a really bad hotel. And my issues with the place do not begin with the fact that the air conditioning did not work during some very warm days, the wifi was not operational at the room we received so we were moved to a room with better reception but the connection had to be reset again and again. Broken curtains that did not allow blocking the morning light. The first room we got was facing kids school that was very noisy - remind you that no air condition forced us to open windows to have some fresh air.... Food was not bad. Safe did not work had to call support.
I stayed 4 nights here and I would say that the room was comfortable and spacious with a large bathroom, however the decor of the hotel is very out dated and in places peeling off the wall. The room wasn't cleaned to a standard of what I would expect and the hallway was clutters with pieces of furniture and a dirty rag that sat on the carpet for the duration of my visit. The bar is non-existent and never open. The restaurant was of decent quality and the waiter very attentive. Plenty of TV channels in all languages and a good mini bar in the room. Overall a decent hotel but definitely not a 4*.
Stayed here 3 nights Very nice staff Good location ..tram system excellent and a few go right past the hotel. Room could be a little brighter but it's ok.. Breakfast ok...had better but it does the job Wouldn't hesitate to stop here again
I stayed in Sofia for 3 days for business and chose to stay here. Booking this hotel, my expectations were for simple clean accommodation with a decent wifi. When I arrived the decor struck me as extremely outdated and the room smelt of stale smoke. There was furniture in the corridor on my floor - beds, mattresses, desk etc - which in three days nobody made any attempt to move. When I arrived, I spotted a dirty mug outside of another hotel room and this mug was still here when I left. Housekeeping cleaned my room and removed the bath mat from the room without replacing, so I had to use a towel to throw on the floor. My toiletries were also not replaced. On checkout the card machine didn't take AMEX, which it should have done. No apology worst of all, the intermittent wifi meant that I could not work in a meaningful and continuous way. For me this hotel was disappointing and unsuitable for business travel.
Jamais voltaria. Paguei 90us$ a diária e nao vale 30us$. The property is horrible! Old, with bad smell, noisy air conditioning. The photos that are on the internet do not match. Below is the photo of the junior suite with king bed. In the room they had 4 single beds, I asked to check and the receptionist said that the room was correct !!! Would never go back. I paid $ 90US a day and it's not worth $ 30US.
Comfortable and quiet, with helpful staff (limited English, but then I have no Bulgarian!). Fine for a city break of 4 nights. Convenient for big outdoor market, bakeries, small lock up shops, a couple of bars/coffee places and supermarket locally. Not a fancy area, but seemed quite safe. 10min walk from Serdika Metro station (approx 40 mins direct to airport). Within easy walking distance to most historical buildings and shopping streets/mall. The bed area of our room was a little cramped (there was too much other furniture. Perhaps all these items are a requirement by GWestern?). Room was clean, though decoration style a little dated (dark wood, cream and dark red, with stripey wallpaper). Tea/coffee tray, fridge, minibar and wall TV provided. The bed was very comfortable. The view (opening windows!) was along the rooftops, so we had an interesting high outlook with little noise from the trams. Traffic was light overnight. The bathroom was well maintained, very clean and spacious (roomy shower/wet room and bidet too). The lobby area was like a dressing room with plenty of hanging space for soggy, snowy clothes, and a large wardrobe (free safe inside). The reception area was not particularly inspiring, but adequate, with soft seating and a small bar. Excellent breakfast: an extensive buffet of hot and cold choices (though the warmers under the hot food were not lit), cheeses, veggies and smoked fish, fresh fruit, cereals and yoghurt. Many types of bread and cakes. Brew your own coffee. We did eat in the restaurant once (not much open in the local area after 7pm late november). We had the place to ourselves. The meal was substantial and good - and good value - the staff helpful. A clean, comfortable and convenient smaller hotel, with nice staff - just what is needed for a city break.
I booked via Booking.com and I cancelled the day before. They took from credit card the whole amount of my staying (around 150 euros) instead of the cancellation fee (50 euro). Fortunately I realized and I could ask my money back. Very bad behaviour.
I book this hotel because it is of Best western hotels in Sofia.Hotel is in the center of city.About 1 km to Vitosha Boulevard.Hotel is not rennovated.I think hotel needs rennovtion of lobby area, breakfast area. But the room which was booked was very good.It was suite room on 7 th floor.Room is for 4 people.1 king double bed and 2 extra beds.Room is very big, bathroom is very good and large. There is kettle in room, beds are very very comfortable, condition works very good.Good breakfast!
The lobby was not very welcoming, but the lady working there was nice and friendly. The rooms very quite ok, the decor maybe a little outdated, minibar was filled and the comfortable and clean. I also heard no noise at night from the streets. It's not the most beautiful part of the city, but not far from city centre. Unfortunately I did not like the breakfast very much. It wouldn't have been so bad, but nobody took care of how it looked after a while and so it was not very inviting. Funny thing was, that I was asking for a fork and had to wait for it a few minutes, because they were all in use. But nevertheless it was not very price and was absolutely worth the price. We went on a business trip for one night and for that it was ok.
Stayed here for a city break and found the hotel room dated but had a good shower and clean Stayed in room 504 The room was very warm and managed with no air conditioning but imagined during the summer this would be very uncomfortable Found hotel staff very friendly Ideal location to the local attractions and main restaurants that were within a 10 minute walk
Visited Sofia in September 2018 with family Location: Good location, about a 15 minute walk to Serdika and a 10 minute walk to Mall of Sofia- which we found to be modern with good variety of shops and eateries. Room: Booked a premium twin room and we were placed on a higher floor (as per our request) - very impressed with the room - it was huge! (I wondered if we had been upgraded? If so - many thanks to the hotel!) - the room felt very suite like - highly spacious, twin beds, plenty of room to move around, a kettle with tea and coffee facilities! (<-- great bonus as majority of European hotels do not seem to provide this) and even had bathrobes and slippers! (any European hotel who provides slippers gets a gold star imo) . The room was quiet as we had specified and had a view onto the courtyard with mountains in the distance. Restaurant: Breakfast was fine- good choices of hot items such as bacon, sausages and toast. Coffee machine was a bit slow and frequently either malfunctioned or ran out of water or milk! Cereals, cheese, pastries and fruits were also on offer. Got very crowded towards the end so do come early! The hotel does also have a restaurant (Who gives you 10% off discount apparantly if you dine there whilst staying but it doesn't open at weekends so we never got to sample it ). Staff: Professionals, no issues. We booked a transfer from the airport to hotel and return but noted on the board on entry that the hotel too offered such services.. All in all, a very pleasant one night stay- would highly recommend.
I stayed (me luck!) one night only. The reception is dark and it doesn't look like an hotel's reception. The room has old furniture, badly smelling, some wall sockets are dangerously hanging out the wall. The bathroom is nice as probably recently refreshed. Just before spleeing, something happpened to my key and the power went down as the system was not reading the key anymore. Breakfast is really essential, nothing fancy of course. The customer attidute of the staff at the reception is really poor. I asked for a taxi for 8,30, nobody came, I asked the staff how about and the only answer was "I have called them and I do not know why they did not came". NOthing else. As results, about 10 guests were all waiting for a taxi, with no organisation nor indication from the staff so the situation was quite caotic. I am not going to miss this hotel and for sure I won't come back for sure.
I stayed here for 1 night when transferring through Sofia. I booked a Suite (4 of us in total). Overall the hotel gives the impression that it hasn't been refurbished for about 20 years! Good stuff - Staff are super friendly - Location convenient for Metro or it's a 10 min walk to Sveta Nedelya and Bottom of Vitosha - Room was clean and quiet OK stuff - Breakfast was fine although queue for the world's slowest coffee machine and toaster was annoying - Restaurant for breakfast was dingy and pretty pokey - Room clean and functional and beds/pillow fine Not so good - Feels tired and air con was pretty noisy (it was 30C outside) - I think they forgot the lighting in the bathroom! Summary: for 1 night in transit it was find and I got a good price. I'm not sure I'd want to stay there much longer. Think 3* goes with the average rating
I have just returned from 3 nights at the Bristol and I was very disappointed. We had a junior suite on the top floor (7) which was enormous but very outdated. The worst aspect was that the air conditioning, though making lots of noise) did not actually cool the room down so we slept with the windows open which was noisy due to the trams and we were bitten alive by mosquitos. The bathroom was so dark it was impossible to use for make-up, contact lenses etc. The hot breakfast was one of the worst I have seen. The only upside was that the reception staff were lovely and the beds were comfortable
???? ????? ..???? ???? ?????..????? ??????? ???????..????? ???? ??????....?? ?? ????? ????? ???? ...??? ????? ????? ????? ?? 700 ??? ????? ?????? ? 8 ???? ????? ....???? ????? ...??? ??? ??????? ???? ?????... A boutique hotel .. excellent food .. spacious and luxurious rooms .. world-class service .... all you need from a hotel in the city ... no swimming pool and is 700 meters from Vitosha Street about 8 minutes walk .... very recommended .. . Everything is new and maintained at a high ...
The hotel is decent. I think its a bit too dark, and the room itself wasn't in the best shape. But overall i would say its price worthy. They could put more effort in to the breakfast and especially for my vegans. My vegan girlfriend think the breakfast was horrible. For me it was ok. At Least the nice lady at the breakfast asked us if we were gonna stay there for another night so she could get my gf some vegan options, that was a nice gesture. The air conditioner was noisy and didn't do much.
Stayed for three nights, it's about 15 minutes of walking to the attractions of Sofia, neighbourhood is not interesting. Valet parking (check your car for dents afterwards). Room and bathroom was OK, late 1980's business hotel style with speaker and phone in the bathroom, wall-to-wall carpet. Clean, no funny smells, bed was OK but will need replacement soon, good WiFi, very limited English-spoken TV channels, bathroom needs some maintenance but works. Aircon very noisy when running fully, lift generates an ever-present annoying sound when running up and down - bring earplugs if you are the least sensitive to noise or you will not sleep. Breakfast buffet under average, reasonable selection but quality is too low, good coffee though. Lobby bar is a refrigerator, fitness room typical small hotel gym in the basement with random equipment. Could come back.
This is a really nice hotel within 10-minute walk to the city centre. I basically walked to all the historical sites from this hotel. It is also close to Serdika metro station. The room was beautifully designed, clean and spacious. Having a tea tray in the room is brilliant, I don't always get this in European hotels. The breakfast is really good with hot and cold choices. The staff are fab, very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend anyone to stay at this hotel when visiting Sofia.
Centrally located in Sofia, quit street not far from 2 metro stations. Hotel is clean but needs renovation. Staff is good helpful checked us early as well. didn't try the breakfast, stayed for a couple of days only.
We stayed here for a long weekend. The hotel room was clean towels replaced every day and clean bed linen. The breakfast was varied and serve yourself and as much as you wanted. The location is a little way out of the centre. There was a small bar and restaurant on site but didn't use it. We found a bar around the corner 6 minute walk which was used by locals. We found the staff helpful when you spoke to them and offered advice and booked taxis if needed. A typical Best Western Hotel set up
Very old fashioned and run down. Probably the worst Best Western Hotel I have ever stayed in. Private parking was an advantage. Sofia itself was disappointing. I doubt that I will ever return to either the country or the hotel. If you have to go to Sofia this is probably not a bad place to stay. I thought that it was expensive at €63.00 for the night without breakfast.
The staff is not pleasant or helpful, english is very limited. The restaurant is closed most of the time when it claims to be open 7 days a week. The bathroom has mold. The view is to an ally. This hotel is overpriced for the service. They claim they have a concierge but they do not know anything. ..... the breakfast is typical for european cheese meats bread picklies
My wife, son and I spent 3 nights at this hotel on our travels through eastern Europe. We had room 607 which is described as a junior suite. The room was spacious and clean. The tv had a reasonable choice of English speaking channels and the WiFi was very reliable. The hotel is located only 10 minutes walk from a good choice of shops and an Imax cinema. Overall it is good value and in a good location.
What a scam. Beware. They took a photo of the front of the hotel which looks ok...the truth...it is in a low life area....really rough...boarded up buildings all around we were wary to go out. The room was disgusting and dirty..the breakfast was a joke.. See photos..WARNING...IF YOU ARE BRITISH OR NORTH AMERICAN avoid this place like the plague. I think this hotel is only suitable for Bulgarians..the positive feedback they have is fake possibly arranged by the owners... See photos below of breakfast, fried eggs and bacon Photo from our room.. please zoom in. the really bad photos of boarded up buildings did not come out.
I liked the stuff and the hotel. You can go to Vitosha Street by walking 5 minutes. The restaurant responsible person is very polite and he adviced a Bulgarian Wine for me. I found and bought but not tried yet. I bet it is great!
Hotel was nice and the pricing reasonable. Breakfast was good and plenty. Service was open and tried to help. The operation hours of the lobby bar has space for improvement, also the cleaning of the bathroom. If you are looking to stay rather central with a budgetary stay, definitely a recommendation.
A good city hotel to stay in as the city centre is about a 15 minute walk away. I liked this hotel as it was quiet. The staff are relatively young too but nice to talk to as well. Would stay here again as it is central to where you want to go. Tourism has not reached Sofia yet so everything is so cheap, food, clothes etc.
First of all I would like to point out the manager - a lovely young lady that cares about the hotel and it's costumers. As we arrived early in the morning after an overnight trip we didn't have a smiling welcoming from the overnight receptionist. The manager arrived a few hours later and changed our opinion about the place. Service was overall good and staff is usualy polite. Rooms were clean and standard-nothing special. Enough for a couple traveling. Location is great only 7 minute walk from vitosha street and there is a good casino 2 minutes walk from the hotel. Breakfast was ok in european standarts and was the same every day(ok for europe).
Very enjoyable stay. Very clean room with lovely bathroom with walk-in shower. Good choice for breakfast of hot and cold food. Tea and coffee also in bedroom. Staff very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again.
Good hotel at short walking distance from Vitosha boulevard. Bathroom clean, room quite clean, very large and confortable double bed. Continental breakfast was very good and rich. One day cleaning staff knocked at out door soon after breakfast to make cleanings. We had to hurry up (with a baby is quite difficult) and we found them (4 women) waiting disappointed outside our room. It was not our check out day, not it was midday, it was only 10.30!
Pleasant nice quiet hotel What we really need with nice breakfast and convenient with all luxury at the highest friendly staff that speak english 24 hour reception free wifi everywhere' we were lucky since it was snowing
Spent one night here on a business trip. The room smelled bad, sheets had small stains and I could hear the elevator all night as the walls are very thin. Great variety for breakfast. Staff was ok. WiFi working very well.
Staff very friendly and the hotel is located just 15 minutes from Nedalya cathedral, which is in front of Vitoschav boulevard, which has a long pedestrian passage, the centre of shopping. The rooms are upgraded, according how much you are going to pay. There are shops around the hotel, and restaurants, but not of standard as in Vitoscha bould. The hotel can arrange you tours and taxes
Stayed here for 4 nights in our first visit to Sofia. Room 101 was spacious and clean with comfortable bed and good sized television.Bathroom was modern only small niggle was it was a wet room floor with shower curtain with brilliant power shower however the floor flooded nearly to the bathroom door after having a shower. Wifi was really good and we had no problem with it. Mini bar was a bit over priced but it's your choice as there are enough little kiosk shops nearby if you want to purchase snacks. All staff were lovely and reception staff were very informative and helpful.Food in the restaurant at night was good and we tried some of the Bulgarian specials which were very reasonably priced. Breakfast had a big choice and didn't seem to run out whatever time you went down. Some say the area was not so pleasant but we went wandering and found a few local bars and restaurants within walking distance. There is a lovely little Turkish bar right across the road. As in any city just take the usual precautions with wallets and bags.Don't be scared to step out your comfort zone, venture out and explore, embrace the different cultures and enjoy. One thing you must do is take the sightseeing tour. It takes an hour costs 10 leva each bottle of water or glass of wine included in the price and was so informative we learned so much about the city. All in all I wouldn't hesitate staying here if we came back to Sofia.
Pros: • The reception has extremely talented bunch of staffs that deal tourists of all nationalities/languages with ease. • Wake up call, Taxi bookings all can be done through the reception. • Rooms/Bathrooms are spacious, clean with comfortable beds/pillows; the bathroom suits cleaning habits of European and Asian. Wifi is super speed. • House keeping in good. • Mini bar, Dress closets, TV set with reasonable number of channels, hair dryer etc available in my room. However, my bathroom did not have a bathtub. • They do have sauna, steam bath in the basement of hotel. • Few good quality restaurants nearby, even the inhouse restaurant at the hotel is good and reasonable. • Breakfast is amazing, lots of variety and options; The manager of the in house restaurant is compassionate and courteous. • The hotel is a walking distance to the ancient Serdika and 600m from the nearest metro. • My room was on the sixth floor, facing front and had a great view of the city, although there was no balcony. • Extremely value for money. Cons: Nil Approach to and from hotel: Two easy options from Airport; (1) Purchase a bus ticket from the airport counters, which charges 6 Leva (3 Euro) for a bus/van upto the Hotel; (2) Take a taxi which charges nearly 14 leva (7 Euro). For onward journey to hotel i took the Van/Bus and for return journey back to airport i took a taxi. Both were comfortable, however the taxi has the edge of comfort/privacy over the bus. Travel Advice: • Friends there should never be any second thoughts for booking this hotel, its premium service, convenient location and value for money; Just go for it and enjoy your stay at Sofia. • Beware of taxis that are painted yellow. I was conned twice by asking me to pay 60 Leva (30 Euro) for a 4 km travel; their meter reading will show this hefty amount and the driver will urge you to pay. Since i had read the travel diaries on such episodes, fought back with these culprits and gave them the money only what they deserved (nearly 4 leva). Always book through your app or ask the hotel reception
The hotel's staff is very nice, helpful and welcoming. The location is more than amazing. Breakfast is great (there's a lot of different food for everyone's taste). The rooms are pretty and cozy. We had a great vacation thanks to the hotel.
Hotel is clean but has an old style. A bit strange to my taste. Room is qute small and dark interior design. At least mine. Staff is friendly and breakfast decent. But not all lights work in my room. Fridge makes some weird as well. If i was to come to sofia again id probabily not stay here. But now for 3 nights is fine. Close to some food places and my work so is ok.
Second time to Sofia and this hotel, the staff and the restaurant made it one of the most enjoyable trips I have had to this part of the world. The standard room would be classed as a junior suite in the UK, with all the extras. As a lone traveler I was made to feel at ease and am now educated in traditional Bulgarian cuisine and its history. Well done Best Western, I will visit again.
My friend & l were staying in a nearby hotel & tried this hotel's breakfast. It was great - so we visited for the rest of our holiday. They kindly provided me with gluten free bread & GF sweet oat cakes. The lady in charge of the restaurant & the waiters were friendly & helpful too. Well worth a visit if you want a good breakfast! Thank you.
It's centrally located, at equidistant position between Serdika and Opalchenska Metro stations. Youngish staff who spoke good English. The reception were efficient in booking tours, selecting better priced companies. The room was very clean, housekeeping was always on time. Breakfast, which was a big buffet of hot and cold choices, was excellent. There were even veggies and smoked fish. Brew your own coffee, and fresh fruit selections. Wifi is included. Exercise room and sauna. Very reasonably priced.
This hotel was clean and well equipped. Staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was plenty big enough and there was plenty of hot water. The shower was powerful and cleaning of our room was well completed daily. This hotel is a short walk to the centre. Breakfast was good with a variety of foods from cereals to bacon and eggs. If I had to find any fault it would be true to say that the rooms were a little dark but this was purely because the hotel stood in the shadow of other building close by.
I stayed in Bristol with my daughter for 3 nights. First thing first, the bathroom/ WC of my room was dirty. Not the sight to see on check in. On check in, I was told the hotel staff are off so no room service and no functioning restaurant in the hotel. So when i called in for dirty pot, the reaction from the desk was so not such a big deal thing and says she will try to get someone to clean it in sometime. Guess that just ruined it for me. The breakfast was below average. The location is good as many eating places.
Enjoyed our brief stay here...good location only ten minute easy walk to shops bars restaurants and sights...room was nice and clean...good size modern ensuite...plenty of choice for breakfast...ticked all the boxes for a weekend in Sofia for a great price.
We were well impressed with this Hotel, Check in was easy and straight forward staff friendly and very helpful. Our room was clean well air conditioned, en suite was clean, shower was excellent and clean room service called each day and replaced what was needed. Our room overlooked the street but due to triple glazing was very quiet. We heard no noise from other room users, The key card to the room worked well. Our room had a mini bar/fridge well stocked and any items used are paid for on check out, Breakfast which was included in the price was good with a wide selection. We also made use of the restaurant in the evening and the menu was good and prices reasonable. The Hotel was well located and convenient to all transport. I cannot fault this Hotel in any way and will use it again on our next visit,
The hotel and staff were excellent with the whole of our party, rooms good, breakfast plenty of choice and well presented. Nothing seemed to be a problem for the staff to sort out, would certainly stay there if we are in Sofia again
This is the second time when we are staying in this hotel because is centrally located, the rooms are quite big (we are 2 adults & 1 kid), the breakfast is good and also has a parking place near the hotel. If we will come back in Sofia for sure will choose again this hotel.
This was an older hotel but nicely maintained in a great location. Street cars right outside the door and within walking distance to many interesting sites in town. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Very nice breakfast- lots of delicious choices.
Stayed 3 nights. Room ok but carpets dirty. Bathroom good. No proper bar facilies beer only no spirits. No restaurant Saturday and Sunday. No change on reception even for levs. Breakfast average. Staff excellent. Not good enough for a hotel near city centre or holiday. Won't becoming again.
Good breakfast. Very nice rooms. We had large room for 3 persons. Locate 10 minutes walking from city center. We got a food bag when we left early morning to airpirt. We will defenitly recommened it and will love to stay there again
It was a rather small but clean room.Amenities were satisfactory.Bathroom was nice.A little bit noisy due to the trams passing front of the hotel but not a big issue. The breakfast is average. The staff was friendly.
The rooms are ok, comfortable bed and good choice of pillows. Bathroom is clean and shower great. Unfortunately that's where it ends. Breakfast is average at best and with no real lobby or bar this isn't a hotel you would want to spend much time at.
The hotel is very near the main monuments to be visited (15 minutes by foot). Very nice room with tea making facilities and hairdryer in bathroom. Great breakfast too offering continental food, English breakfast and Bulgarian food too. Staff very friendly. Make the most of offer to be picked up from airport as good rate and safe.
The hotel itself was good as to staff, cleanliness, room size, and the free Continental breakfast. One drawback with the hotel is that the reception desk does not provide any type of currency change, not even to get smaller bills for its own Bulgarian Lev. So you need to go outside to a store to buy something just to break a bill. No banks nearby. Only restaurant is in the hotel itself as surrounding area is not the safest place to walk around at night and nothing good nearby. Located near the pedestrian mall for shopping but it'd by much safer to be on the opposite end of the mall, along with having ATMs and restaurants on that end.
The location was good, 5 minutes walk to the Metro station and 10 minute walk to the city centre. Had a slight issue with the key panel so couldnt get into my room, but the maintenance guy fixed it quickly. I was suppose to get a welcome drink c/o booking.com but they forgot even though this was highlighted in yellow on the paper they got me to sign. When I entered room it did have a strange smell, I thought it was a smoking room at first. I booked a double room but they didnt have that so upgraded me to the Junior Suite. It was spacious and very clean with a sofa and mini bar. The shower was hotter at night than it was in the mornings, I guess it depends how many people are showering at the time. Even though the shower unit is encased in glass, there was a small leak at the bottom. The free wifi was excellent. I stayed on a weekend and the hotel restaurant was closed all weekend, I was not aware of this when I booked, if I had known I would have booked elsewhere so dinner was a kebab from across the road, or you can go to nearby McDonalds or Mall of Sofia. Breakfast was ok, the hot food was a bit cold on my first day, didnt try it on my second. They have bread, toaster, meat, cereal, cakes and croissants, juices, fruit salad on my first day but not on my second day.
Did not sleep well due to water tank constantly filling and waking me up. Reception knew the problem but put me in this room? Maybe they do not like me? Who knows! Breakfast had good selection buffet, good location in the centre of Sofia. Would reluctantly stay again but not in that room!
What you can expect: - very friendly staff - very good quality for price - all you need for both a business and leisure stay - central location What you cannot expect: - 5 star luxury - huge rooms Overall a very good choice besides some other hotels in the same price category
This hotel was very nice. We had three nights there. Good location too, easy for Central Sofia. Transport is ok, we had rental car, but sometimes is difficult to park. The breakfast is ok but not amazing. We recommend the hotel.
The hotel is an easy walk into the centre of Sofia, so location very good. The room was large, with good beds and a very big bathroom; nice strong, hot shower. Bar very limited, so go out and drink! We used the Hotel airport transfer and Christopher was very nice and drove safely (unlike most of the taxi drivers in Sofia!). Staff informative and friendly, all in all I would recommend this hotel for a short break in Sofia.
I stayed in this nice hotel for 4 days. It is in a great location , Hristo Botev Street, and the staff is really helpful and friendly. The rooms are nice, clean and comfortable. Breakfast has everything you are looking for. Nothing to wow me but it was a value for miney stay. If i ever go back to Sofia it would be my hotel again.
Arrived early hours of morning, room key wouldn't work, door knob dropped off still waiting for repair three days later. Room on 6th floor, half room only half height because of roof line, have to keep window closed because of street noise. Room clean, decoration a little dated but ok, bathroom good. Breakfast adequate, although the staff got in the way sometimes, messing about with food, restaurant was not open Saturday or Sunday evening, even bar was closed nothing mentioned about this when booking or checking in, although we were give a ten per cent discount voucher for restaurant which is totally hilarious.sign only went up in elevator on Sunday late afternoon about closure. Certainly not four star facilities. It is a fifteen minute walk to shopping central. Local shops and restaurants nearby. Funny smell in corridors at times. The hotel is passable, but would not rush back. After viewing previous reviews and the managers return comments, it would be appreciated if he would advise on how he has addressed the problems. Instead of ignoring and welcoming us back when we visit again.
The room was clean and spacious, but it smelled bad, like very cheap cleaning solution or something (my colleague in a different room on a different floor confirmed the bad smell in his room as well). The carpet was new and nice, but the beds were well below average and the pillows were unacceptable for a four star hotel. They were really just glorified clumps of material stuffed in a pillowcase. The location is fairly central, but there are no good shops, restaurants, Cafés or bars in the vicinity, and the hotel bar/restaurant closes early. The staff were all super friendly and helpful, and the breakfast offering was very good.
Stayed for 1 night in February. The hotel is clean and the staff are all very polite and willing to help. We dropped the car off in front of the hotel and a gentleman went and parked the car for us in their carpark and then came and brought it back to us at 4am! The hotel is situated on a main road although you couldn't hear anything from the room we were staying in on the top floor. On the whole a pleasant stay.
Hotel was very good, clean and nice rooms with big space. Bathroom was modern and clean and quite big. Breakfast was really good, almost excellent for its category. Location is good, around 500 meters from Metro station and the starting of the main shopping area. Reception was very kind and good, apart from the fact that although we asked for wakeup call in early morning we never received it and it was very dangerous for us to lose our early morning flight.
We booked this hotel for a weekend away. From pictures and outside, looks quite nice. Although the rooms were clean and bed comfortable, this is not 4* worthy. Breakfast was shocking. Only room for about 20 people. I had to share a table with strangers (not that this is a problem for me). We booked via booking.com and as genius travellers were entitled to a free welcome drink. On arrival, we were told this was the tera and coffe in our rooms. We replied with that theres are included in room rate anyway. We were then given 2 small bottles of wine (thank you) however when my partner asked to change this to a small beer he was denied quite angrily and abruptly. Who knows why when the beer is CHEAPER than the wine? All in all good location however staff, breakfast, room décor were very average for price paid. Next time I visit Sofia I would probably book a much cheaper hotel after seeing the standards of this.
This is supposed to be a 4 star hotel and in reality it cannot be more than 3 stars. Rooms are tiny, not particularly clean and offer no service a part the room and a very poor breakfast. The area in which it is located thought is not far from the center, is not the best and at night I felt unsafe to walk alone. At my arrival the central heating was off and I've asked an additional blanket. Guess? they were not able to find one and had to bring me the one for babies... What's more one night the restaurant was closed without any notice and I have to had dinner in a horrible Turkish place in front of the hotel. Too much expensive for the service and for what they offer.
We spent in this hotel 2 nights. Hotel is very well located, metro stations 5 minutes, you can walk to the city center and visit all Sofia sights. Sofia shopping mall is in walking distance or you can use tram. Hotel lobby is small but in good condition. Room was always clean and in good condition, bathroom was equipped with everything needed. Safety box, fridge and coffea and tea fascilities was ready for use. Flat screen TV offers plenty of channels in different languages. Breakfast buffet was good you can choose from various food and waitress was nice and smiling. Unfortunately only one in this hotel. Check in was horrible. We arrived at the hotel at 14:15. Receptionist told us that check in time is 15:00. (confirmation from booking.com confirmed chek in 14:00??) She didn´t do nothing, didn´t check system, didn´t offer to store our suitcase...She went to back office. So we went to the city for 30 minutes. We came back at 14:50, she let us waiting until 15:01. She didn't take care that my colleague use walking sticks. We got room finally after 10 minutes procedure! Front office staff and porter need to be trained customer care!! Check out looked better. We paid our bill. Hope authorization of the first night was closed. But it didn´t.... You charged us 2 nights, but nobody closed the authorization of the 1st night and Monday morning you charge another extra night!!! My colleague contacted front office and general manager to solve this situation immadiately. Both of them read this email but nobody answer untill now!! I still hope that this is misunderstanding and we received some answer, our money will be credited as soon as possible and we will not be forced to make another steps!!
Reception and service (especially from the older gentleman in the lobby) was really good. Breakfast was horrible so we ate out almost every day. Room was OK, airconditioner didnt work properly even though windows was closed. Bathroom was 5/5, beds and pillows good as well, cleaning was OK/Good. And location was good value. We picked the Suite, the view from the window was trashy house 3 meters away where u basicly could see old men in their pyjamas at night.
We got re-booked from another Best Western, which had a leakage. The room was a good size and faced the back, so noise was no issue from outside. But the ventilation system could not be turned off, so there was a constant noise of it. The room itself had an odd smell to it, so we had to keep the windows open all time. The hotel breakfast was really bad, rather two star. First morning all was nearly empty and you had to ask staff for cups, cutlery ... Understaffed and poor choice of food. The hotel neighborhood feels odd, not sure I would recommend others to stay there. If I would have checked the hotels reviews when they changed us when arriving, I would have not gone there at all. Just not worth the price for compared to t hotels in town.
Noise on room because of tram explained by hotel staff as this is centre of sofia. Ok.. I understand the message.. * positive is room & bath cleaned looked good. ***** Break was bad** Bed was more than ok for this hotel ***** However smell on the towels , room scarfs were not smelling nice* I give ***
We booked and paid few weeks in advance and set up meeting in hotel. We arrived earlier and they told that room is not ready yet, we decided to have lunch. After 2 hours we come back to reception (all this time we been in hotel restaurants) and they told that half of the hotel is flooded and they not able to provide us room, but they will relocate us to another hotel 5 minutes walking distance and they will give us lift with our baggage. The bell boy was driving to another hotel almost 15 minutes. All the roads near hotel are closed, there is road works in progress. Very noisy, asphalt smell and dust. I called to hotel and he told that they can't do anything, everything is over booked and they already offered us more expensive hotel. We are in Sofia for one day, I tried to call all my customers and rearrange meeting. Manager suppose to call me back, after few hours no any calls or offers. Finally I called myself, no one answered. I give up, called to hotel.com, who also was useful, all they offered full refund. I booked throw booking.com new hotel instead. Very disappointed with **** 4 stars hotel. At least they should contact day before or at least when we arrived.
We visited Sofia for a long weekend and booked into the best western hotel. I booked a junior suite and was very disappointed. The carpet in the room was filthy and covered in stains. The bedside cabinets were dusty, I used the jacuzzi bath which leaked and flooded the bathroom floor. On the up side the bed was very comfy! There was a buffet breakfast, which was awful, hard croissants, no cups or mugs for tea or coffe, when we asked for a cup / mug we were told they had finished! Bearing in mind breakfast was served until 10am at 9.30 I would expect to be able to get a cup or mug! The staff were rude, no one to point you in the direction of an available table. the table cloth was also dirty. Overall an unpleasant stay!
Great hotel to stay in Sofia, been there for one night but I like it very much. It is almost in center and everything is near. The breakfast was very rich with lots of different foods and warm drinks. I recommend it definitely.
when we arrived the hotel a smiley face welcomed us. and he did many suggestion. the room was perfect clear and modern. ? stayed just for one night. but i was happy to stay. next time it will be same hotel to stay probably.
Not a bad place to stay in Sofia with walking distance to markets and cafes. For budget its pleasant. Friendly staff and ok breakfast mostly business people staying as far as I saw. I stayed there with my girlfirend and we both enjoyed the location. Recommended for a budget stay
Location okay, staff very friendly and helpful, rooms clean and breakfast excellent. Bar was not 24 hrs as advertised, the evening meal we had was very expensive compared to eating out and the hotel price to collect us from the airport was extortionate at 48 lev (local firm charged 12 lev on the return). Constant noise of people speaking in the early hours from the parking bay at the rear of the hotel was a nuisance (was this staff?). However on balance would probably use again.
Never again!!! Breakfast extremely pure! Rooms too expensive pure standard and very small , well the bathroom was very high standard but I don't sleep their! Next time I'll definitely go back to my previous 5 star hotel for the same money high standard big rooms everything you can ask for you have it there ,absolutely delicious breakfast and plenty of choice ! PS. I thought all the information they take at reception is confidential but the next day I got friend request in my Facebook from one of the staff males and got a message from him... which I find absolutely unprofessional!!!
There are not much to say. Good breakfast with not too many things to eat. Helpfull staff as whenever we ask them some directions they provided them easily in english.10 minute walk from the city center and the vitosha street.
Some misunderstandings solved on day 2. Stayed for 7 days . The rooms were clean and the breakfast was very good. Close to town centre just 10 min walk. There was a misunderstanding on the booking since the child was not considered as a guest and I was given a small room. The next day I was upgraded for free since it was their mistake
Best Westerns are, in my experience, often disappointing and this was the case here. The rate was good and I had booked a suite which basically meant a big room with some armchairs. The room was nice enough although the furniture was dated. Overall the hotel was a bit dark and pretty small..it looks more modern and bright in the pictured. Check in and out were both slow but friendly. Breakfast was old style although the waitress did a superb job of being friendly and helpful. The location is OK. A 10- minute walk to the main pedestrianised area and walking distance to the key sights. For the price it's a good choice but next time I would probably pay a bit more.
I stayed this hotel for 2 nights for work. The hotel is not bad, I was at the 4th floor. But internet in the room was not working!!! I told the reception but they did nothing to solve the problem. It's not possible for me that in 2016 that an hotel could have these WIFI problems. I will never be back to this hotel.
Here is a short summary of our stay. Small size hotel in the city centre. Location is perfect for those who have business in the central district. The hotel is relatively new with some signs of ageing. Overall, the hotel in my experience staying in hotels around the world is about 3 stars at the very best. On the surface the service appeared alright. We were welcomed by a friendly receptionist. Our room was ready 3:20 for check in. In the mean time we had late lunch at the restaurant. We had roasted peppers with spices and garlic a t raditional Bulgarian appetiser. The peppers had frozen bits which made them unpleasant to eat. The main course was grilled trout which was not fresh either. My main complaint relates to how I was treated when a door handle broke when I tried to enter the garden for breakfast. I was told off by the waiter who said: "this is why the garden is closed but nobody cares to ask. This is why we need to charge you €100". Ok, first of all, there was no notice on the door that the door handle was broken. Second, there were people already in the garden eating breakfast. Third, clearly this was unintentional. No hotel in the world would charge a client for breakage that was unintentional. The waiter was also giving opinion on the fine and my intentions. Totally inappropriate. I went to the reception and a call was made to the manager who, in the end, charged me €25. I would gladly pay any fine if I cause damage to a property. In this instance, the way I was treated was totally inappropriate. Clearly this hotel is on my blacklist. I will write to best western with further feedback.
A reasonably comfortable and clean hotel for the price. The room was large and air conditioned , clean with a nice view of a lively city. Bath leaked and bathroom was a bit dark. But I did get for a good price do didn't feel to bad about it . Breakfast was help yourself and had enough selection . Ate one night in the hotel and the food was good but was expensive compared to eating at one of the many restaurants in the city. Overall the hotel was fine, wouldn't have felt like that had I paid the actual hotel asking rate
Really A happy and friendly hotel. staff very helpful rooms very clean. very close to all amenaties. food in the bar is very nice and good value for money. swimming pool was great we had the pool to ourselves a few times. well worth a visit.
This place was a great value. I've paid $300 for much less. Breakfast was very nice. The room was almost luxurious. Bathroom was marble and the room is done up quite nice. The hotel is centrally located in a good neighborhood.
The hotel is nice. Clean rooms with very nice bathrooms. Breakfast is OK. The parking is not very far but you have to pass by the hotel to access it, so not very convinient. Overall it was a nice stay...
I enjoyed my stay in the hotel. It is very clean and comfortable with good air conditioning (36 degrees Celsius outside in June). They also provided a safe and a minibar (my room was on level 2). I didn't bother with breakfast so can't comment on that. The hotel is about a 10 minute walk from Serlinka metro. Lots of old Soviet-style buildings in the neighbourhood but don't be put off. You will need to cross some busy roads to get to hotel. There are pedestrian crossings with lights but beware of ignorant drivers!!!!!!
I stayed here with my mother. We had rooms on the second floor. We got separate rooms - mine was at the front of the hotel and mums was at the rear. Mums room was spacious, with a large bathroom that had a brilliant shower. She said her room was quiet, only sounds were when they moved the bins. My room was also spacious, with a large bathroom and again brilliant shower. Mine was slightly larger. It was quiet in the room, but you can hear a quiet hum and buzz every time the trams came by - but not something to stop you getting a good nights sleep. The breakfast was lovely, obviously a continental breakfast not full English. For those who are used to fry ups, they had a small selection but my mum and I were all over the fruit, yoghurt, pastries and cakes. The cake, pastries and fruit selection was perfect with something new everyday. The fruit juices seemed fresh and were very tasty. (I recommend the peach juice) Friendly and helpful staff, nothing seemed like it was too much hassle.
Our room was on the 5th floor and was pretty spacious as was the bathroom which had a walk in showere which makes a change from over bath types. The beds were comfy and the TV and free wifi worked well. There was in room tea and coffee and the usual mini bar. We were at the back of the hotel so although there was no view the traffic noise was reduced. The staff were friendly and helpful from the minute we arrived until the minute we left. It is a 10 minute walk to Vitosha boulevard were there are a variety of shops, bars and eating places. The only minus was, in my opinion, the limited breakfast available although it was eatable.
Stayed here. For 1 week in May, visiting family in Sofia. On arrival, which was 1 hr after the designated time we were told our room was not ready. While they were friendly and offered beverages while we waited, the wait turned into 1 and a half hours! We were finally shown our room. No complaints, the room was very good. Big comfortable beds and good showers. Had to buy tea bags, the tea bags were not replaced, and ran out of toilet paper and soap. The staff on the desk were very friendly, the concierge was friendly and helpful as were the staff who assisted to get our car out of the hotel car park each day. The breakfast buffet was really good. There was one staff member especially who served breakfast to s on alternate days who was friendly, and informed us we could order from the menu. She was most professional, and couldn't do enough for us, always with a smile. Disappointingly, on the other days was a women who barely spoke to us. No offer of menu items were forthcoming at all. The most distressing thing however, was that this staff member assumed we were Americans and could not speak Bulgarian. I think that the Manager should read this review, to advise his staff that it is totally unacceptable to discuss any foreign guests in Bulgarian assuming they do not understand. She spoke about us and other guests to a colleague and was not terribly complementary. On the whole the hotel is great, but this. Really spoiled it for me.
We had to book a room quickly as our bus to Nis was cancelled and this Best Western Bristol Hotel turned out to be a nice surprise. The room was very comfortable, the TV and internet worked great, and the breakfast buffet was excellent with lots of choices from eggs and meat to Bulgarian choices. The front desk staff was helpful and efficient and gave us a late check-out, which was much appreciated. We booked on the internet and got a great last-minute price.
The hotel is central for city good restaurants nearby, rooms very clean, free Wi-Fi and local transport to airport (underground) Staff very professional and helpful, would recommend and stay at this hotel next visit to Sofia
Spent 3 nights here this month and was very satisfied. Facilities are very clean, staff is always very professional. Breakfast is well prepared and varied. The hotel itself seems to be a bit out of place as the street is rather down-at-heels. It is well-located and within easy walking distance of the sites in the city center and just across the street from a tram stop. The wifi was fast and always working.
Small but very clean rooms, great selection at Breakfast and all staff were very attentive to our groups needs. Great location for exploring Sofia and all in our party said they would definitely recommend to others..
Rooms are small but it wasn't a problem for us. They're neat and cosy. The staff is very helpful. They organised us a trip to Rila Monastry by shuttle service. They speak English. Breakfast included in the price is ok but it could be better (muffins are uneatable). The location is ok too. It's about 200 metres from Serdika underground station. Generally, taking the price into consideration, it's really worth it as the hotel is cheap.
comfortable and tranquile. Staff is helpful and make your stay convenient. Rooms are tidy and a bathroom is clean. Sightseeing areas are within walking distance,Thanks to Stanislav as he has made our stay even more comfortable by arranging ticket reservations, restorant reservations, taxi, etc. All in all, a perfect stay in Sofia. Thanks to the crew.
Spent there 3 days on business. The hotel and the room was OK, but the staff hardly understands English, bit aggressively expect tipping, and if they are tired, simply close the kitchen at 9, although normally it's open till 22.30. The taxi service from the airport was cheap but frightening as hell. Breakfast is OK, lunch was buffet style but very light and simple.
Very good hotel in downtown of the capital. Excellent location. Smiling and professional staff. The rooms are clean. The food in the restaurant is very good. The breakfast is rich and delicious. I'll be back.
Instead of "welcome" i got immediately warning that they will charge me if i smoke in the room and asked me to pay immediately for my 2 days stay together with "parking". "Hotel parking" is not guarded even if the opposite was declared - it is 4-5 minutes of walking from the hotel. Next morning i started to take my car to go to the office but no one was on the parking again so i had to wait for someone else to leave the parking in order to exit. I was here actually to check services quality before big and important meeting we should have in that hotel in 3 weeks time with a lot of important managers in my company and it was a good decision. Of course, we immediately cancelled reservation and make the agreement with Best Western City hotel which is even in the same chain - completely opposite to this "whole". Luckily, i am still here tonight and i am leaving tomorrow morning and i will never come back again. Hotel is old, located on a noisy bulevar with suspicious hygiene and is far from 4 stars, maybe 3 stars max (one if these still not "adult").
Some time ago, I reserved in Hotel Best Western Plus Bristol, in Sofia. When I arrived at around 21 hours they told me that due to a problem with the electricity they had to change my reservation to a different hotel. I was surprised but trusted best western, even that the lights were working, the clients coming ang going from reception... and even the bell boy was about to take my luggage to a room. Then I arrivved to the other hotel but was really bad, dirty, with liaking water from the toilet, mold on the cealling... I complained and they just wanted to give me a bigger room, but as bad as the smaller one. By this time was already 12 pm and the day after I had to work, so I decided that was just to shut up and try to sleep, but was really a bad Idea, no way to sleep, noise coming from the street, bad smell from the dust of the room and the mold... This was really not the way to treat a customer, they offerd me a discount for my next stay, but is not just about the money, I travel for business and I need to sleep in a comfortable palce, thay canceled my room withoit previos notice, just told me at night when I arrived to the hotel and then sent me to a sh*** hole... No wifi conection in the room, the poorest food for Breackfast, the restaurant closed, and one of the pints in booking that hotel was because there is a restaurant on site and I can easely have dinner there but no, I had to search the vecinity in a place that is not familiar to me, in winter time...You can imagine how easy is to look for this things in a foreign country without knowing the language... My only advice to you travelers, try to avoid Best Western (specially in Bulgaria) if possible, last year I spend 150 in hotels and only Best Western treated me like that. Just avoid them if possible...
Very good breakfast (cooked bacon better than in English hotels).Helpful and friendly concierge - an old and nice gentelman. Comfortable bed. Convenient bathroom with cabin shower. Very good central heating (weather was extremely cold). Quite a small double room: between the desk with a chair and the bed it is impossible to move from one side of the room to the other, if one is sitting on the chair.
We booked through booking.com as a **** but when we were there it less than ** - Best west we found a small board wrtten closed & ?? Go to Next door, which was ( Bristol Hotel) - we reserved a big room with high price, but they give us smaller one. - The room without AC,when we call room service, they came to fix it but they couldnt , then they said its not working in all hotel , couldnt fix it till week since its chreas time, then they brought a table fan. - Not quiet, you can hear thesteps from down street. - good stuff, smily & helpful. - clean & tidy, too cozy. - High price with different type or catogrey . - its cheeting , we booked different hotel with defferent catogrey & we found different hotel with different price we pay high price but we get low room. - In booking you can see two different , one high price, scound low& diffrent type of rooms.
Very good quality of services. Quite clean and comfortable. Personel at the reception always prompt to give right indications. In case you go there by car, someone from the desk would gladely accompany you at the parking near by...
The check in process was very good. We were upgraded at no charge and the staff were very helpful and courteous. We were taken to the top floor and a very nice room with complimentary wine and fruit. It was very spacious and we enjoyed the views of Sofia very much. At the time we were very happy. We then left for dinner with friends. It is not as close to the center as you would think, it's about a km and will take you about a 15-20 min. walk to get to the sites. It is a nice walk and it has the Jewish synagogue along the way, as well as the newly discovered ruins. When returning late that night we walked in to the room and were hit by an obnoxious smell. We think it may have been coming from the heating vent, but it smelled like rotten sewage. It was very difficult to sleep with such a strong smell. I tried to take a bath in the nice tub, but realized it was not hooked up and even though they paid a lot for such a nice jacuzzi, it was just a regular tub because it didn't work. The breakfast was decent. A suggestion would be (if you wanted to heighten the experience and bring a lot of class to the breakfast area) would be to have someone out cooking eggs to order fresh. Eggs sitting for hours in a steamer just turn to rubber. Also, I would have someone look over the english section of the restaurant information in the rooms. There were many mistakes, and it makes a poor impression to your international guests. I'd be happy to help if needed. We will try other hotels in the centre to try to give people the best option for centre city Sofia. Radisson Blu is my best recommendation for now.
I came with a friend. We asked quiet room with separate beds. And we got it. The staff is very kind and friendly. The hotel is close to interest point like starting point of a free walking tour or a mall. Breakfast includes everything u might need. Great stay. Only one small note: they didn't wash the curtains for centuries, I think and u can "smell the dust" when u r trying to close/open them.
Stayed there for one night with two collegues. The staff is friendly, but it's hardly a great hotel. The decor is dated, the walls are paper thin.and you can hear everything in the next room. Also the rooms on the top floor really have a bad smell and we had to ask to be moved to a lower floor. The breakfast buffet is dissapointing too.
Fine location of the hotel gives you easy access to the city center which is less than 10 minutes walk, yet the neighbourhood is quiet in the night. Hotel has its own parking. Rooms are clean and furniture is fine. Wifi works perfectly, both in the room and in the loby. Breakfast is excellent.
My family - made up of two adults and three young children stayed at the hotel for two nights. At check-in, we were swiftly checked-in and taken to view two rooms until we were satisfied that the room allocated met our requirements. I was pleasantly surprised by the attentiveness of the staff. Anyone who has travelled with children will appreciate that any assistance provided is welcomed, especially after a reasonably long journey! The hotel itself is clean and the room ultimately provided to us had all the amenities you would expect from a contemporary hotel although the rooms at the hotel are somewhat small in comparison to other hotels but it was satisfactory for our needs. The bathroom is very modern and tastefully decorated. The shower was great and the strong pressure was certainly required after a day spent seeing all the major sights in Sofia. As others have mentioned, the hotel is centrally located and very much within walking distance or if you simply do not wish to walk, you could use the metro (a short walk of a few minutes from the hotel) or arrange a taxi (of which there are many and importantly, the rates are cheap). In short, if we managed with three young children, I am pretty certain the location will not be an issue for most, since it really is not far at all from the main sights. Separately, there are a number of amenities and eateries close to the hotel so all food junkies are well catered for. The staff have a very good understanding of the local area and are very helpful in providing advice - in our case, the staff helped us arrange our trip into the mountains for some trekking off the beaten track! The street in which in the hotel is located is very much in the Soviet style, which some may find unsettling but there honestly is nothing to fear. Indeed, we met a number of very helpful individuals who were personable and found a number of people who spoke fluent English but be warned many of the older generation do not speak any English and very few signposts are translated into English! I should also add that the hotel provides free wi-fi (a little slow) and the room contains a kettle with tea/coffee services, which you may well use after returning from sight-seeing! The breakfast provided was certainly sufficient although I would prefer that it had some more vegetarian options (a minor grumble). That said, the staff at breakfast was fantastic and the female member of staff was very attentive - regularly refilling items and just appeared friendly. Above all, the best thing about the hotel was the attention to detail from the staff and their initiative to ensure we were made to feel welcome, which extended to the cleaning staff who all had a cheery disposition. That is a sign of a well managed hotel in my opinion. The highest praise of all is that my family would be happy to stay at the hotel again in the future!
The hotel is ok for its price range. Rooms are spacious but need some upgrade - a bit worn off and noicy from the trafic. Staff was polite and helpful. Location is not the best but everything is easily reachable by taxi.
i spent few nights all year long due to business. nice employee and clean and comfortable rooms. I can surely reccomend this hotel for a short stay in sofia, even the position is very good. breackfast can be improve in my opinion
Booked room for four nights, the location is Good but the service is awefull! We had a triple-Room and the sofa which was supposed to be the extra bed was broken, so the first night I could hardly sleep. They came the next day with a small rollaway-bed... The breakfast was not very Good. The last day they told us to pay for the two robes that were missing! We didn't have any robes in the rooms, but they kept telling us that two robes were missing and that we should pay for it! Stay away from this hotel!
Hotel: Not the best area of Sofia but decent for access to metro station etc. Overall 3 star quality and perfectly adequate if you need to watch the spending Room: Front facing get some street noise but not intrusive. Had all basic necessities including safe, fridge and free wifi. Breakfast and restaurant are actually very good and excellent value for money. I did eat there on several occasions in the evening as not so many choices close by. McD is walkable for those hankering for a burger ! Recommendable as a low cost option.
If not the best, one of the best hotels in Sofia. Everything was fantastic: the bedroom, the bathroom, the entrance, the service, the location, the food. Not the cheapest but the quality-price was really worth it.
