Don't stay here if you want to sleep. Stay here if you want to listen to a bunch of college drunks slam doors and scream and fight. I stayed here before and it wasn't a problem but the staff said tough luck that you couldn't sleep.
My parents had actually stayed here a couple of years ago at our son's graduation from McGill -- so it's really well situated. I needed a one night hotel stay in Montreal when working and visiting our daughter, and found the Best Western to be in a good location at the right price. I needed a place to work, and a place that was convenient,. BW fit all that. What didn't really work for me is that the hotel is old -- the rooms a bit tiny, and it was like a time warp visit. When downtown, I've stayed at other hotels (admittedly at a far more expansive rate), and the rooms were more generous, the decor more stylish, and the sense of a more premium contemporary experience. This was a flash back to the 1960s, hence my parents rather liked it, but it didn't tick my boxes. What was particularly annoying was the fact that the shower tap didn't really work properly. When turned to cold -- it was cold -- when turned to hot -- it was cold. It was lukewarm in the middle, and so I had a lukewarm shower. I've not had a lukewarm shower since a trip to a jungle lodge in Peru on the Amazon. When I mentioned it to the front desk, they kind of shrugged it off, and said they'd get maintenance to look at it. The location is great, and by no fault of the hotel, the street outside is completely dug up, but the hotel has done well to accommodate this issue. Would I go back? Probably not -- there are lots of alternatives in the price range, but admittedly, if I had to go back and be right smack in the middle of the McGill University campus, I might. I'd highly recommend it for my children's 80+ year old grandparents when our daughter graduates -- they probably would think it fine. That much being said, the beds are comfortable, the wi-fi is fast, but it seriously needs an update.
Enjoyed the hotel! Excellent staff, clean rooms and outstanding restaurant. I will stay here again. Very pleased with my visit and they were a major part of it. Order the steak from the restaurant, you will be pleased.
This hotel is situated at Peel and Sherbrook St. Peel St has good restaurants. You can walk down the street and find Saint Catherine St which is full of stores (good for those who enjoy shopping) The Hotel has a good wi-fi connection, is clean and attentive staff. Mind the five or six steps at the main entrance.
I was visiting Montreal from Toronto for a couple days with my boyfriend to tour the McGill university campus. We are ages 17 and 19. My boyfriend smokes marijuana, which he buys legally. We went out for dinner the second night we were there, and he smoked a joint outside far from the hotel. We come back to our room to find the door is locked so we went down to the front desk and ask or new Keyes. The man behind the desk informed us that we will be locked out of our room until we pay the $350 fee for smoking in the room. We explained that we did not smoke in the room. There was marijuana in the room which may have produced a slight smell, but in no way did we smoke in the room. The man at the desk assures us that we will be refunded if we explain the situation to the owner. So I payed the fee and we went back to our room. The next morning we go down to the lobby to talk to the owner. He in no way is open to listening to what we have to say. He said it doesn't matter if we smoked outside or in the room, one of our jackets may have smelled like marijuana therefore the smoking fee still applies. He then sent people up to check our room which was in perfect condition, then proceeded to kick us out. I believe my boyfriend and I were taken advantage of because of our age and because we are not from Quebec. This was a terrible experience which put a damper on our whole trip. I will not be visiting another Best Western any time in the near future.
We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. We had two adjoining rooms for 6 people. Hotel itself was fine. Nice valets, clean hallways. Construction was extremely annoying to trying to park or load/unload vehicles. Many vehicles parked directly on the sidewalk causing problems. Our main problem is that this is a non-smoking hotel, which we respected the entire time. In fact, the valets and front desk must have seen us at least a dozen times going outside to have a cigarette. After we got home I realized they added two separate $345 charges to our stay. When we called up they said it was a smoking charge. However not once did any of us smoke in the rooms at all. We have no idea why they added a charge to our credit card without asking/talking/emailing us. Now we are in a battle to try to get them to remove the charge. Everything was good with this hotel until this disaster. We are not happy at all.
Best Western Ville-Marie Monteal has a fabulous location, in walking distance of museums, restaurants and shops. They have a GREAT coffee shop on site that makes good coffee and homemade snacks and breakfast fare. The mattress was awesome -- the best mattress I've ever slept on in a hotel. It felt like a Casper or Endy. Great pillows too.
The hotel is beautiful, nice staff. Wonderful and comfortable bed. Great amenities, but horrible corner. Construction makes you miss this wonderful jewel. Take your time look up. Don't miss this hotel, way worth it
I am here because I had to add an extra day to the front of my Montreal visit and the Bonaventure could not accommodate me because they are full with the conference I am attending. I'll move there tomorrow and will actually be paying less for a higher quality hotel. This one is pricey because of "dynamic pricing". By the time I booked they were already fairly full. The hotel is OK. The room I am in is clean and the bed is comfortable. I always object to paper and plastic cups but Best Western is not a luxury chain despite the luxury price they are charging me this time. The building is getting a little bit tired. There were stained floor tiles in some of the hallways and cracked tiles in at least one elevator. My first room, 1104, was right next to the elevator and one of the four elevators squeals when the doors open like it is scraping on something. I asked for a change and got 811. Smaller but much improved, it is as far away from the elevator as you can get and I actually have a view of a portion of Mount Royal rather than of an office building next-door. The staff almost makes it worthwhile staying here. They were pleasant, accommodating and efficient. The location is also good, just about 30 seconds from Saint Catherine's Street and all the shopping you could want. There are also lots of pub style restaurants in the vicinity and some high-end ones as well. I could stay here again but it won't be my first choice.

We appreciate your honest and constructive feedback and will share it with our team, so we can all take the appropriate actions. I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights and was very disappointed. It used to be a SangriLa hotel years ago and seemed a good and well maintained property. The entire hotel seems worn out and poorly maintained. The staff are not overly friendly at the reception! The room was simply not made at all.

Thank you for taking the time to share your impression regarding our hotel. I am sorry to read the inconveniences you experienced and hope you will still consider our hotel for a further stay.
I walked over after the bed & breakfast i had booked closed down (but still showed up as available online through the business travel tool my company used due to a glitch). Oscar & Melanie at reception went above and beyond to get me a room on the spot. They were fully booked due to conference season but had a last minute cancellation. Clean comfortable rooms. Mattress was very firm so provided great back support. Great location next to McGill. Highly recommended

Thank you for your kind words. We hope it won't be too long until we see you again.
If you use this hotel, which is great in many ways - clean, well located, DON'T let the bell boys take your luggage. It really is a shame that they are unable to tell the difference between 304 and 403. We were part of a tour group and pay for this service within the price of our holiday - they managed to put the right room number and deliver one of our cases - but not the other. Then they had to go round every room in our tour group and all the neighbouring rooms on our floor until they finally manged to locate it. In the meantime we had managed to order and eat our evening meal in the bar. This was good. We couldn't use their restaurant because it had been booked out for the evening - but no-one came to eat in the hour and a half we were next to it.

We are obviously disappointed that we were not able to fulfill your expectations. Despite your experience, we truly hope that you will give us a second chance and come again.
We had two nights at this hotel. Even though we arrived very early our room was ready. It was a really large room with plenty of counter space for our stuff & two suitcases. The bed was comfortable. We even had a lovely little alcove with two big chairs for sitting with our coffee. Front desk staff and the bell men were very friendly & helpful. It's a great location for shopping. It was about a $15.00 taxi to Old Montréal though.

We enjoyed our stay. The staff was very helpful, and they accommodate non French speaking guests. It is also conveniently located to McGill University, and many restaurants are within walking distance of the hotel.

Thank you for your kind review! I am thrilled that enjoyed your stay! We look forward to your next visit!
Received absolutely amazing service at the Best Western on Peel Street. Both Danny and Jenny were superb and gave me and my family 5-star treatment. The room was impeccable as well. Next time we're back in Montreal we will definitely be back!

The room was very clean, the elevators fast and the staff were helpful and knowledgeable! I would say that the breakfast was overpriced, and the hot buffet was cold (though more food did come out as we were leaving). We were able to walk from the hotel to Old Montreal, it took about half an hour each way.

This hotel exceeded my expectations; very friendly staff; very clean rooms and excellent location. No problems at all; so happy with my stay that I would definitely stay there again. Stayed three nights and loved it.

We stayed one night here while in Montreal. Booked it late in the day, last minute. It was a gem! Clean, and super friendly staff. Parking could have been an issue without valet, due to toad construction. But we were taken care of. Thank you!!

Thank you for this great review! We're so happy that you enjoyed your stay with us.
Good location for walking and public transportation links. It is on a very busy intersection and lower floor rooms are quite troubled by traffic noise if you're at the front. Huge rooms with great storage space and very comfy beds. Bathroom is very small compared to the sleeping area. Nice coffee shop attached which did great breakfast rolls and best coffee we had on the whole trip. It's dry popular with the McGill students from the nearby campus.

Located along one of the main drags of Montreal the hotel offers a very central location. It's a 1980's style high rise building and not much to look at from the outside. The interior is pleasant enough but felt a bit dated and wasn't necessarily my personal taste. Most importantly staff were very friendly and check in was fast and very efficient. My room was one of the smaller ones on the floor but it was very adequately sized and well appointed and the decor was fresh and homely. The King sized bed was extremely comfortable with quality linen and as good as you would get at any 5 star hotel. A very pleasant surprise as I wasn't expecting this level of quality bedding at a Best Western. Fast complimentary WiFi. Bathroom was smallish with shower over the bath but functional and the usual amenities were provided. Unfortunately my shower was cold in the morning, which wasn't ideal but I completed the survey I was sent with my receipt and had a reply from the GM of the hotel the next morning apologizing for the inconvenience. These things can happen and it's good to see that management actually read these surveys and address any concerns. Can't ask for more. I recommend the hotel to anyone looking for a good value for money hotel in a central location in Montreal.
Stayed here while visiting my son at McGill University. Good location. Mediocre hotel with decent accommodations. I was never there except to sleep and shower so it did the job. Attached cafe in the corner was ok.
Quite a big hotel which was our home for three nights as part of a tour. The rooms were dated and in need of modernisation. The bed was quite uncomfortable with a bow in the mattress. I found the lifts to be slow and at times I had to wait some time for it to arrive especially when a large group had just arrived. The attached cafe and bar seemed to have odd opening and closing hours which didn't suit our needs. One annoying aspect was our key-cards; on two occasions we arrived back at the hotel to find we couldn't access our rooms as the keys were not working. We had to go back down to the lobby for them to recharge our cards. This happened twice, so not at all impressed.
overall the accommodation was average. The rooms very spacious, but I thought the carpets were very shabby and not too clean breakfast was average. The hotel breakfast staff on the first morning were very pleasant, but the second morning not so helpful. The tea and coffee was terrible so had to ask for a separate jug of water and teas bag.
Our tour company booked this hotel for our group, and quite to our surprise it was one of the nicest on our 5 city tour. The bellmen were efficient with our luggage, the rooms were comfortable and clean. Best of all the location is great. Also, they were very accomodating when our large group took over the bar area for our final night together!
Unimpressed with the service throughout. Cafe was overwhelmed by the arrival of a large group so took 30 minutes to make a flat coffee, toasted bagel and chocolate pastry. Coffee machine not working.... In a coffee shop?? Service in the bar was slow even though they were quiet. Very offhand. The room was clean but average though the bed was very comfortable. Key didn't work on return the same day.
The hotel was well located for exploring Montreal, but the decor was rather dated. Rooms were comfortable enough and staff quite courteous. Bar area was not very inviting - needs updating. More or less what you would expect from Best Western
This hotel is in a great location to start, the staff are very friendly and the beds are comfortable. Other than that, you're getting a dated Best Western experience. I booked late and during a long weekend so there were limited options in the area. The only parking option is valet and is $25/day. The valet service is good, if you tip well. The lobby of the hotel feels dated but there is a nice cafe attached. The elevators are not for the claustrophobic. There are 3 and one is of normal size. If you put 4 regular sized humans in one of the smaller, you will get to know the other people pretty quickly. The double queen room I had was typical but the bathroom was very cramped and their choice for a bathroom door was very strange. 5 frosted glass panels in the door made for an awkward experience for both the user and anyone else in the room. The cleaning staff were spotty at best. Not refreshing certain items, e.g. no face cloths some days, garbage not emptied. The power outlets between the beds did not work for charging electronics and I don't think the floors were vacuumed the entire stay. Overall, the hotel got the job done. If it wasn't in the location it is, I would not pay the rate they charge.
Hotel is well situated as close to Peel subway for visiting local sites and St Catherine St for shopping ! Hotel rooms are fairly large with usual amenities including fridge. Staff friendly and helpful. There is a good coffee shop on site - did not get around to using the on site restaurant. Lowish rating is due to original room allocation - room 315, as we found on the first night of attempting sleep, is next to noisy extractor / ventilation and with pipework seemingly behind our wall even bed seemed to vibrate ! (is it because we used booking.com - don't know ?) We were relocated to a room on 12th floor for second night and enjoyed a good nights rest.
The hotel is wonderful in all respects. Great staff and location. Just a short walk to the main shopping area of Montreal, and to a Metro Station for quick and easy access to other points of interest, such as, the Old Port (including Notre Dame Basilica), The Botanical Gardens, The Atwater Market. Our favorite restaurant in Montreal was L'USINE DE SPAGHETTI Du VIEUX-MONTREAL. We visited mid August and the weather was perfect. We took the train to Quebec City and stayed three nights at the Hotel Claredon. (Booked the smallest room for price - the location and quality of accomodations is excellent!) Did a five hour "Country Side" bus tour with Old Quebec Tours - very good idea! Be sure to do the guided tour of the Parliament Building. Our favorite restaurant in Old Quebec was Buffet de L'Antiquaire. We returned to Montreal for three more nights at the Ville-Marie. Our bellman Mike stopped by the best bagel shop in town on his way to work to bring us bagels for our trip back to New Orleans. We are well seasoned travelers. We HIGHLY recommend a ten day visit to Montreal and Quebec!
Great hotel, great location, very clean and quiet. But the true gem of the hotel was Mike, the gentleman who handled our bags, called our taxis, made recommendations for tours, restaurants, etc. A true professional. He made our stay Great!
Hotel was at a good location, but it is in need of renovation. Staff good, Danny was just great, the best one at the reception . Very friendly and polite. He deserves a promotion. Restaurant ok but breakfast extremely expensive for the options.
Great hotel. Clean, a lot of place in the room and very gentle and nice employees. Great walking distance to the old town, the stores and restaurants, also to the Mont Royal. Special thanks for Mike and Manuel - our consierges. They gave us a lot of interesting ideas what to do and to see in and around Montreal. They helped us also with the car and how to get there. They are doing a great job.
Great hotel with easy walking distance to the city and the pier areas, good large size room, comfortable beds, plenty of places to eat nearby in this area of the city. Friendly well trained staff. Free wi-fi.
I booked in to the Ville Marie and I had such a great experience. The Desk Clerk Jenny was so pleasant and accommodating and right away I knew I had made the correct choice of Hotel. The Hotel is in the heart of Downtown and a great location in Montreal. The room I was given at first was not really what I expected and one phone call changed it all. I had a room with a Mountain View and it was spectacular and I felt so comfortable and cozy I was very happy. The room and the bathroom were clean and really taken care of, sheets were changed every day and so soft and fresh. The Staff at the Hotel made our stay a delight and thanks to Mike who helped us with directions and recommendations to places we wished to visit. I highly recommend this Hotel and you will not be dissapointed.
Located downtown so very convenient. Also next to McGill university. Lots of shopping around and restaurants too. Rooms are clean with the usual amenities - ticked all the boxes of a good hotel. Even had connecting rooms.
We booked this hotel as we had 3 adults and it had a reasonable rate compared to surrounding hotels. I researched the hotel using trip advisor and it rated pretty well. The hotel is on a corner on Peel street and close to McGill university. The hotel is good not exceptional however the service is extra good, clear and concise. The bag / car / tour guys are very helpful. Our room was on 16th floor and looks like it has been renovated. Good size and the beds were comfortable and the shower hot. There was a bit of noise from the hallway especially the doors closing and one person saying sush a lot. Only negative. Valet parking is $25 with unlimited in and out per day. There is a cafe and restaurant on the ground floor. We used the cafe and it was quite good. All in all a great choice and it met our needs.
Good sized room, appeared to be recently redecorated. Great location, close walking distance to many restaurants or venues. Free Wifi. The only concern I had was I could hear noise in the hallway, but this could be due to the bed being situated close to the hallway. I did not use the restaurants at the Hotel so I cannot comment on those.
This hotel needs a way better customer service. The man at the front desk who was working on the Saturday July 28 between 4-5pm when we checked-in was completely incompetent and could careless about making our experience better. we didn't have a credit card so we had to take out cash we were short of 1$ and a couple of cents, he forced my partner to go get more change. At this point we were so frustrated with the service, because the lady working at the front with him , had told us if we cancelled with booking.com we could have the
Our room was large, and like the rest of the hotel, it looked as if it had been recently decorated. All the staff were friendly and helpful, and all the ones we came across could speak English (although French is the main language in Montreal and quite a few people don't speak English). Despite exceptionally high temperatures outside the air-con unit was very quiet and efficient keeping the room at 20 degC on its lower setting. The sink and shower were supplied with instant hot water. The outside of the hotel looks a bit "tired" in comparison with many buildings but inside it is fresh and welcoming. The nearest metro (Peel) is only a block away and there is a wide range of good restaurants within walking distance.
Old hotel in a good location. Room was very simple, very plain, no kettle nor mini bar in room. Room was fairly large and clean, wifi was good until the last day of my stay. OK service. Good location, close to subway Station, tons of cafes, restaurants, shops around. But I couldn't find any convinient store/grocery store nearby. Its a bit pricey for what it's worth, parking is 25/day for hotel guests since it's 18 across the street.
So we stayed in this hotel last June on our way through Montreal last year. It was a little shabby and the staff was not terrific but it was fine for what we needed. This June, my sons were travelling up to Northern Ontario to work at a Canoe trip camp with children and gave themselves an extra day so they could see Montreal. As a gift, I offered to get them a room at this hotel. I found out the day that they were to arrive in Montreal that there was a delay with the Canadian government with their working papers and they would be delayed crossing. I immediately called the hotel to explain the circumstances, knowing as a prior customer they would understand and provide a refund. They refused and said it was because I booked through a travel site. I called the travel site, who called the hotel and the hotel again refused to provide a refund. I sent an email to Best Western to explain what had happened so they sent a claim to the hotel asking to assist us. I then got an email from the manager that, and I quote "it's not our problem you couldn't cross the border, it's yours" I was dumbfounded, I have never experienced poor customer service like that. Its bad enough that the hotel is a little seedy but to have that type of customer service, it is the worst. Luckily, there are plenty of other well appointed, customer friendly hotels in Montreal. Shame on you.
OK, the hotel room was nice, the elevators kind of funky and the location required you to travel everywhere. Unless you are going to McGill, then it is perfect. The restaurants nearby were kind of mediocre. Service was excellent. Free internet.
Very nice hotel and location near every attraction going on. Valet parking good food.comfy bed and clean sheets I'm a very picky person and this hotel satisfied me. I would return for a quick trip to Montreal always fun
I loved the location of the hotel. The rooms were very nice. What I found problematic was the service. From the restaurant workers to the front desk, to the concierge - the staff appeared indifferent and downright unpleasant and unfriendly and most certainly unhelpful. As a single, older woman who doesn't speak French, I felt that I was not welcome there. Too bad - it could have been fantastic!
The hotel was nice, and in a good location. The concierge and front desk was helpful also. Our room was fine, except that we had a couple of stains on the carpet in our room that probably could have been cleaned fairly easily.
The hotel staff at this location are fantastic, especially Brahim and Mike who went out of their way to make sure we had a wonderful vacation. They were knowledgeable of all the landmarks and festivals going on and helped us route out stops to get the full Montreal experience. They recommended fantastic restaurants and greeted us so warmly every time we entered the hotel. They really went above and beyond their job and generally made us feel like they wanted us to have a fantastic trip. Merci beau coup Brahim and Mike!
Very friendly staff, nice hotel. Peter and Oscar very professional. Thank you staff I had the most wonderful time here We were all so well looked after I have told everybody about it I am from Toronto and I this is my second trip !
The Hotel was very nice. Concierge services provided by Mike were great!!! He gave us direction to all the site seeing places in Montreal.. He provided insight on our transportation, such as using subway and buses services. Mike also followed up to ensure we were satisfied Thank you Mike for making our stay pleasant. Hope to see you in Montreal soon.
I was in the hôtel for the weekend and Oscar at the frontdesk is friendly and professional. he suggested us to the resto around the area and he even call to reserve the table for us ! Very pleasan stay
Decided to see the Jazz festival after a few years of not coming to Montréal! Hotels were booking at a faster rate than I expected, so I decided to make reservations! Nice & clean and comfortable! Good location, within walking distance to st Catherine street and restaurants and shopping! Checking in was a breeze with the help from Rita at the front desk! Very pleasant and friendly which made it very easy! Will stay here again when I come back!
This has become my go to place in Montreal and I always recommend it to friends and family. This time around I had multiple rooms booked with different arrival and departure dates from people around the world. The staff was excellent as always, kept track of all my bookings and were very helpful with baby beds etc... It is a safe location but walking distance to the heart of everything and the valet service is very convenient. In the middle of a 37 degree heat wave it was always fresh and cool in our rooms. I never regret staying there.
This hotel is in a fabulous location. I refer to it as a boutique hotel as it is quiet, beautiful, and in the middle of everything. The staff is wonderful, happy to please always. The new restaurant opening while I was there, La Parmigiano and it was delicious with excellent presentation. The rooms are lovely and couldn't be more comfortable. Can't miss this place.
The hotel was easy to find and was amazingly clean and tidy. The staff are very helpful and polite. The room was very neat and the bathroom spotless. Good all round. The area is great for shopping and dining too. Would highly recommend this hotel.
The location was excellent, walking distance to restaurants, the metro and busses. The room was very spacious and comfortable. The staff were very helpful, friendly and attentive. Obviously they were very well trained. Will definitely return on our next trip to Montreal
This hotel is just OK. The Bellman are very friendly. The front staff is also friendly. I put the do not disturb sign on my door, and they still entered my room. I had originally left a tip, but when they can't read I picked up my tip and took it with me.
I met the nicest people at this Best Western. The staff here are incredible! We were in town for a short visit, Oscar & Peter went out of their way to tell us places to see, places to eat... we had wonderful conversations, shared stories and lots of laughs. The concierge was so helpful, calling for cabs, helping us out as it rained every day. The room was immaculate, modern, super comfortable bed. Everyone at Best Western made my first trip to Montreal a truly lovely experience. Thank you. Cheers
Spent 2 nights in this great hotel centrally located to art museums, subway, restaurants. Easy to get around from here. Rooms were clean and modern. Bed very comfortable. Neighborhood is safe and bustling. Breakfast and lunch venue in lobby. Very good. I would stay here again if I visit Montreal again.
We were welcomed warmly at the desk in a lovely lobby and the concierge on duty(June2) was so helpful and enthusiastic while loading our luggage etc. on the cart and then up to our room . We were very comfortable in our 17th floor spacious and clean room with a view of Mount Royal. We would recommend this hotel and will certainly be back to stay on our next trip to Montreal. Thanks again to all the very professional staff and all their hard work to make this Best Western a home away from home!!
We arrived late and cold and wet. Everything at Best Western Ville-Marie went beautifully. We had great food in the cafe, comfy beds and pillows, a good view, and great service. There were 19 in our group and we were thrilled with the lobby and adjoining area. Lovely location. We left happy.
On our 4th night of our Grand Tour of Canada and Alaska, we spent the night at the Best Western Ville-Marie hotel. The staff were very helpful and told us where to find good restaurants. We ate at the Churchill Pub, good food keenly priced. The following morning we walked to Old Montreal and spent a pleasant couple of hours exploring. Then it was off to the airport for a flight to Calgary, Rockies here we come
Reasonably priced and staffed by friendly people. Right near McGill and the Metro on the edge of everything. Had a quiet room that looked at Mont Royal and the campus. Would definitely stay here again.
This hotel is very conveniently located next to McGill University and the Fine Arts Museum and also has loads of bars and restaurants in easy walking distance. A cafe attached to the hotel is good for breakfast though we never went to the restaurant. Room was fine but nothing special.
The hotel is very central, close to shops, and restaurants. Definitely met expectations for the price we were paying and Oscar at the front desk was great!! Very helpful and showed us places to check out.
Great location, friendly and professional staff, clean comfortable room. Excellent experience all around. Subway stop is just a block away. Shops and restaurants easy walking distance. Art museum and university very close by (5 minute walk).
Our check-in was great - the front desk is very welcoming and multilingual. The issues arise after you check in. My card had to be re-activated numerous times, even though I never kept it near my wallet or cell phone. My colleagues encountered the same issue. The front desk staff was very accommodating and would issue a new card immediately, but it was still an inconvenience, especially late at night. I kept the 'do not disturb' sign on my door while I was there and the cleaning staff still knocked, insisted on coming in, and I had to essentially yell through the door while I was trying to take an afternoon nap. If the sign is up, that literally means that you do not disturb that door! I then was stepping out and the cleaning lady tried to get into my room, even though the sign was still on the door. Unlike other Canadian hotels, they have a habit of replacing towels that have barely been used and are not left on the floor, so I didn't want her in there yet. It was upsetting to have to fight with her about not entering my room. I was trying to take a nap and the interruptions made it nearly impossible. The walls are also quite thin, so I woke up, startled, whenever a door slammed shut and my bed moved slightly as a result. I'm a pregnant woman and need to take brief naps during the day between conference meetings, but I was lucky if I could get a solid half hour in at any time. The gym facilities, while spacious, offer no option for cleaning down the equipment. It's not clear how often the gym is cleaned, but there was no way I could wipe down any of the machines. Finally, be aware that room service ends at 10pm. If you're looking for a late-night snack, you either need to go outside and find a restaurant in the city or order delivery to your room. There's essentially no security in this hotel, so the delivery person can go straight to your door - I did this multiple times. The location is fantastic, as you're right in the heart of downtown Montreal. Montreal is a wonderful city, but you're better off staying at another hotel.
We hosted a professional event here recently and every single person we came in to contact with was incredibly helpful! The staff is so nice and was so well prepared. We can't recommend this enough!!!
The service has really improved since my last visit last fall. Services in both languages (French and English) Wake-up call on time, breakfast as wished.Very decent room. No complains at all. I would recommend it highly to anyone as it is also well located.. Jean de Denus
I cannot thank staff members enough at th Best Western ville Marie - super professionals! Friendly, helpful, problem solvers, great customer service! Thanks to Alessio and Simon!!! Alessio and Simon! Hats off to you(and now that is is warmer here in MTL- you can take your hat off! LOL
The hotel was in a great location. Easy to walk to the underground shops and dining. It was a classic/traditional hotel. Comfy and clean overall. The elevators were small. Loved the little coffee shop attached to the hotel.
So much to say but only word needed: amazing! We held a two day conference with a group of 35 which all the guests stayed at the hotel as well. We had a two floor conference room which was quite spacious with amazing view. The coffee break and lunch were very good and always prep perfectly on time. They keep making sure we don't run out of coffee, water, cups, fruits, etc. We forgot our hdmi cable for the projector and we just had to contact the manager Mr. Zikry, and someone shows up right away. I was very relief with the support of the manager and the staff as well whenever we needed something. The guests were happy with their rooms. They accommodated the guest requests very well. I cannot pinpoint any bad points since there isn't any! From the reservation to the day of the events went very smoothly and perfect.
We recently held an two-day education symposium with 140 people in the hotel's Grand Salon and were delighted with the support and accommodations made by Mr. Zikry, the manager, Mr. Abdullah, the food and beverage manager, and the hotel and wait staff. Lunch was served as part of our conference package, and the hotel staff accommodated food allergies and special requests very well. The food was fresh and plentiful on the buffet. Everyone was attentive to our needs, no matter what the request. We could not have asked for better service. Challenges were anticipated and dealt with in order to have a smooth beginning to our event. (The usual parking facility was under repair and accommodations were made nearby. Everyone was notified and arrival was smooth on the first day.) The only "ick" for a large group is a pillar in the middle of the Grand Salon. But we were accommodated by two screens and two synchronized projects, so that everyone could see the front screens, although not everyone could see the speaker all of the time. The speaker moved across the front of the room with a cordless mic as she was speaking. With the small group work at intervals, the pillar became irrelevant. The symposium participants who stayed in the hotel were also pleased with their accommodations. All in all an excellent experience! Thank you! I have since recommended this facility to others.
Me and my wife spent one night at the hotel and loved the experience. The location is perfect, in the middle of downtown, but what really stood out was the service! The staff members always made us feel welcome and at our service. The room was clean and the bed very comfy. The Best Western Ville Marie is now a top choice for us, whenever we will need to come back to downtown Montreal!
I have been chosing Best Western for years for my accomodations and needless to say, this one is my all time favorite. Great rooms, AMAZING service all around, just a wonderful experience! I strongly recommend everyone to choose this hotel if they are looking for a place in the middle of the action of downtown Montreal with impeccable service. Will certainly come back!
I spent the weekend in Montreal and stayed 2 nights at this hotel. The location is in great proximity to many sites, restaurants, shopping. I was impressed from the minute I arrived - greeted outside, friendly and accommodating desk staff Oscar and Peter. The room was in very good repair and very clean. There is a really nice cafe in the hotel too. On my second night I had a noisy bunch in the next room and the security dealt with it quickly. If I have one complaint it was that the hot water in the shower was slow to come on (ran the water about 5 minutes before it warmed up). I will stay here again for sure!!
We stayed here on the 5th floor (505). The room had 2 double beds and was surprisingly a good size. Room was clean and has been updated in the last few years by the looks of the bathroom. Hotel offers valet parking for 27 dollars, this is only good until checkout, but you can pay for additional parking for 15 dollars which is good until 7pm. Overall a good downtown hotel and you really cannot beat the price compared to others.
We stayed for four nights while visiting family. This was a well-located hotel, handy to the train station and the downtown sights. The room was large, with a living room and a bedroom (no door separating them). I found having the bathroom door right next to the bed a little inconvenient. There was a TV in the living room and the bedroom. Amenities were good. There was a small fridge where we could keep a few things for breakfast. A greater range of teas and coffee for the coffee maker would have been nice, as would a table to eat at. The cafe just off the lobby was a good place for breakfast or lunch. The seating area in the lobby is somewhat oddly located behind the check-in desk, but it was a comfortable place to wait when meeting someone. We enjoyed our stay here. It was comfortable and economical.
I hosted an event at this hotel. The entire process, from booking it and menu selection, to checking out was superb. When we arrived, there were absolutely no issues with anyone checking in. Reservations were perfectly executed, and the check-in process was pleasant. The front desk staff were eager to help with directions, even looking up the closing hours of nearby stores so that I did not waste my time with a fruitless walk. At every request, they went overboard to meet our needs. The room we used for our event was set up perfectly, snacks were delivered so efficiently that we hardly noticed they had "appeared" on the tables. All audio/visual needs were accurately accommodated, the the food was both great in quality and taste. The hotel General Manager Rafik Zikry even stopped in at lunch to make sure everything was perfect. Our final morning, he met us at the front desk, thanked us for our visit and letting his staff serve us, and even invited us to share a latte with him in the cafe. Everything was clean and professional, from the lobby and elevators to the meeting spaces, rooms, and restaurants. The location is convenient to the Metro and McGill University. The customer service at the Ville-Marie was superb, and I will not use any other hotel in Montreal moving forward. I will be back.
We recently stayed at this hotel for four nights. The hotel itself was clean and well decorated. Our room was on the 12th floor, with two queen beds. The room has a small fridge and a single brew coffee pot (NOT a Keruig). My only complaint was the quality of the beds (and while I realize this is subjective to the sleeper); while the linens seemed fresh and clean, the mattress was very soft, to the point of sagging in the middle. We did not eat in the hotel restaurant, but we did stop several times in the cafe attached to the front of the building. The coffees, pastries and sandwiches were delicious, fairly priced and fresh. Parking was $25 a night, and breakfast was not included unless you include it in your reservation. I can not say enough about the wonderful valet staff, especially Mike, who offered us solid recommendations on restaurants and places to visit. He went out of his way to call to confirm times and offered to help with reservations if needed.
One of the most economical places to stay in downtown Montreal, it has all the amenities a very good restaurant, clean comfortable rooms and walking distance from downtown. I recommend it for the shhort stay business traveller.
Visiting the Best Western Ville-Marie was fantastic. The staff are super friendly and accommodating. They really go the extra mile - I forgot an item in my room and they mailed it to Toronto for me! Definitely would recommend them highly.
This is a nice, reasonably priced hotel in an excellent location in downtown Montreal. The staff are nice and friendly, the rooms are nice, everything around ( downtown, McGill, Concordia, mont royal, subway etc ) within walking distance. Breakfast is standard and tends to get boring if one is staying long but the staff there too are extremely friendly. Overall a good budget property
great location, close to all amenities. Helpful, cheerful and professional staff. Have stayed here many times and will do so again in the future. good breakfast available. Easy check-in and check-out.
We stayed 3 nights at the Best Western Ville-Marie and were very satisfied. It is centrally located and only a few minutes walk to the Bell Centre and numerous restaurants, shopping and eating establishments.
This was my first trip to Montreal. I was extremely impressed by this hotel. Amazing location, super friendly staff and cleanest rooms I have ever seen in a hotel. Can't wait to go back. Highly recommend coming here.
I've been here some 30 years ago and did not like the rooms... too small. However, this is my first visit since then and WHAT a difference. This BW seems brand new. I was upgraded to Double Suite. Great large room. Love everything except: 1) Opaque glass door to the bathroom.... awful decision. I would hate to have a daughter as you can see the silhouette of anyone in the bathroom. Also during the night the light would awake you as it shine in your eyes as my face was facing the door. 2) should have a microwave and a breakfast like all the US BW. 3) Valet parking prevented me access to my van anytime I wish without having to go through the valet service. Despite these negative issues, I will not hesitate going back to this BW. - Excellent service. - Very clean - The Hot/cold air-condition was just a low hum and being in the living-room, did not blow the air straight at you in the bed like so many hotels. - 2 blocks from the excellent metro, 3 to St Catherine street - Near many good restos, the Musee des Beaux-Arts and the entrance to the Les Cours Mont-Royal shoppingcentre with its long underground concourse leading to many big stores like Simons,,. I highly recommend this BW.
Good location, good people, cannot ask for more. Will come back when in Montreal . Peter excellent at desk. Care very much. Thank you for umbrella and direction for Old Montreal. Clean room. Maid did good job every day.
We booked 2 rooms (2 Queen beds in each room) and I wrote to the hotel manager to give us connecting rooms if at all possible. He was kind enough to reply to us with positive news. Thank you again. Check was quick and easy and done efficiently. On arrival the hotel served us a welcome fruit plate which was a really nice gesture. Thank you again. We booked the room with parking included. On arrival we noted that parking was Valet parking. That was great but we had an issue with one of the valets. He was not friendly and made it know to us that he needed to be tipped each time by showing us the palm of his hand. All other valets were professional especially one valet, sorry don't know his name but he was bald. Really nice guy, Both rooms had 2 Queen beds. The rooms are large with lots of space. We did not have breakfast in the hotel but did use the cafe attached to the hotel. I was quite disappointed with the gym. In the hotel pictures online I noted free weights but when I went to use the gym, there were no free weights at all just some machines Overall I would recommend this property as we did have an overall pleasant experience except for the one valet.
Our check-in was perfect I dealt with A gentleman named Peter he was very professional courteous and absolutely amazing to deal with I I totally recommend this hotel to anyone, this is the pride of Montreal when you talk to this hotel they're perfect perfect perfect this is what hotel should be like when you stay anywhere. Thank you for an amazing experience, i'm already planning a 10 day excursion next year with the same hotel thank you again Keith Farrell
The hotel is very clean. Room was great, king size bed was super comfortable, and bathtub/shower is quite large and deep. Service was excellent from the front desk. Unfortunately the location is a bit far from the port/old town and a lot of the great restaurants but we just used Uber the whole time. If it were summer we would have walked without an issue though.
Great value for the money i paid. Very accessible location to see most Montreal's attraction. Whether you choose to climb on Mont-Royal or visit Musée des beaux-arts - everything is at your finger tip.
Generally very clean and nice, but the highlight was definitely the helpful staff. In particular, Mike the bellman, was extremely helpful in helping to arrange the best and cheapest way to the airport as we were leaving. Thanks Mike!
Love this location it was within walking distance to the shopping district. My room was awesome. Very spacious, clean and lots of towels just the way I like it. My room also had a jacuzzi and a stand up shower.
No complaints at all. Room was very clean and comfortable. Conveniently located at the edge of the downtown area. The do have valet parking, but NOT for regular pick up trucks. I had to find street parking, but the guy running the Valet parking helped me secure a spot on the street across from the hotel. Bonus! I would stay here again....
The room was excellent, the service was excellent and the stay was excellent. We had a 4:00pm wedding to attend on Saturday afternoon and with a 3:00 check-in time, we figured we might not have enough time to dress etc. I called the front desk and spoke with Danny who was amazing. He did everything in his power to get us an early check-in. He made the room available from before 1:00pm which was a huge relief and obviously gave us enough time to get ready without any stress. Thank you Danny - keep up the great work - you have an amazing team!!
First time staying at this Hotel. Personnel is friendly, the room was comfortable (king size bed) and the price was right! It is an older building. The restaurant inside the hotel served a fantastic breakfast! I had forgotten my phone charger and contacted the hotel. Someone got back to me quickly with the news that they had found it and asked for my address. Wow - that was unexpected. I received my charger in no time and in good condition. I really like the extra step that these people took. If you are heading to Montreal and need a hotel serving the downtown area, give them a call. Bus right at door and close to metro and lots of shopping. They have valet parking, but we just parked outside.
Very loud. Paper thin walls. Heard every vivid detail of a floor-wide party - yelling all night, heard our teenage neighbor vomiting all night as if it were in our own room, constant noise and disturbance from 3:30-10:30 am when we had to just leave.
Fantastic location in downtown. Helpful staff. Average room but in need of either upgrade or serious maintenance. Little things; phone didn't work, bathroom floor tile needed cleaning - stuff like that.
We decided to stay here due to its convenient location to the metro and the shopping area. There is valet parking, but we just left the car parked there during our stay and took the bus and metro everywhere. There is a bus stop just outside the hotel. When we picked up the car at check out, the valet staff was very friendly and helpful even though it was -30C outside. The room itself was clean. The walls were a bit thin as we could hear when the neighbours sneezed or coughed loudly through the walls. Other than that, we had a good sleep.
I usually stay at the Europa because it's cheaper. I was glad to test this one out on points, the location is better than Europa because there is more choice for restaurants and indoor shopping within 5 minutes. Note it was -25 Celsuis outside so that was important! I liked that they have valet parking as well.
Great location. 19 floors but not many rooms on each. Quiet, clean and modern. Valet parking worked great. Had a quick bite in the Lebanese restaurant off the lobby and it was quite good. Two block walk to Metro and Ste. Catherine St. shopping. Will certain be back.
Stayed at the Hotel Christmas Eve. Friendly Staff Great Location to subways downtown attractions Excellent restaurant for breakfast. Good value Easy to get to from Highway Close to Mc Gill University and Mount Royal
I realized that I forgot my passport 9 hrs before the flight, and it was 1am. I walked to the lobby and asked for help see if the locals would have any solutions. The lady (Elizabeth) was so patient and went through every method tried to get my passport in Kingston (which is 6 and half hr ride for a round trip). She looked up all the busses and trains available, even called her friend asked for help. I cannot appreciate more. She didn't forget to calm me down. At the end it all worked out and I didn't have to go on a 6-hr trip for $500 at 2 in the morning (or staying at the airport for another 24hrs and pay $1500 extra for changing the flight). I wouldn't be able to do it without her assistant. She is a Christmas miracle. The overall service at the hotel is great, and there are many amazing restaurants within walking distance. The lady also told me there's an airport shuttle bus really close to the hotel.
This hotel ended up being a great choice for our weekend stay in Montreal. Great location and a few dollars cheaper than comparable coupons. Valet parking is 25 dollars a night. We had room 1602, which is huge and quiet. Might not hurt to ask if it's available. BTW: The agent at check in was really friendly. I think her name was Elizabeth.
We had a professionnal event in this hotel on November 23rd. This hotel is well located and clean. The rooms are spacious and beautifull. The meeting rooms and banquet hall are very good for business events. The staff are friendly and eager to help. Thanks to their help and recommandations our event was a real success! The General Manager of the hotel _Rafik is just amazing! He did everything he could to accomodate us. I definitively recommend this establishment.
I made a reservation at this hotel because I had a positive experience at the Best Western Herald Square NYC earlier this year. Reserved 2 rooms for 2 nights for 3 people. From start to finish everything was great especially the staff. The staff really make staying at this hotel a plus. From the valet(s), to bar staff, housekeeping, front desk and even the nice gentleman who helps with the business center. The staff is always friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable about the city. I reserved an early am taxi the night before departing. The taxi arrived 5-minutes early ready to go. We neglected to bring toothpaste and the front desk had a tube of toothpaste brought to the room. The rooms are somewhat dated but very clean and quiet. Beds were also very comfortable. Location is decent and very much walkable to most points of interest. Good lighting in the bathrooms.
The hotel was clean and well appointed and the staff was friendly but Mike at the transportation desk was amazing. When he found out that we needed multiple cabs to get around and then back to the airport he arranged everything which really took the stress out of getting around.
Was there with a large group. Very friendly and helpful staff. Very clean and well looked after. Room very comfortable and location was in walking distance of shops and mall. Price well and highly recommend.
Rooms are large, free wifi, desk in room and large bathroom. There is a walk-in-robe a/c, fridge and coffee percolator, the room is a little noisy from traffic outside, but the location is suburb, close to the Uni and major shopping centres, restaurants and cafes.
1)The moment I arrived, I was greeted by, the friendliest, professional, all around Nice Gentleman, MIKE!! 2) The Staff, was more than helpful/pleasant. 3)I've never felt so , catered to, by ANY Hotel! 4) Would I even think of a another Hotel?NO!! 5)Mike/Manuel, are both exceptionally helpful, and make you feel relaxed. 6) The location, is absolutely PERFECT, and prefer to any other hotels, even if they are closer to Centre Bell. 7) Just an 8 min walk, to Hockey Heaven! 8) If you are thinking of renting a car, don't!! 9) Shopping, Rue Sainte Catherine, Rue Drummond, Etc, so accessible! 10) I think my points/opinion,, express how I feel!! Hmmmm,, will I stay somewhere else, next time? NO!! I thank, ALL the Staff, This is a Wonderful place, with Wonderful people!! TrustMe!! I could go on&on,,, Mike, is a BellHop, like NO other!! Super Helpful 4sure !! Merci
The hotel was well located for our purpose. Close to business meetings, restaurants and shopping. Valet parking available. Decent restaurant in hotel. Wonderful bed in a more-than-average size room. Quite comfortable.
The Best Western Ville-Marie is right downtown and only a walking distance to the major shopping areas. The hotel itself is average. The rooms are large and the beds are comfortable. It's not in a noisy part of town, so you won't hear a lot of noise. I had rented 2 rooms about a month in advance and requested them together on the same floor (as my children were in the other room). They did not honor our request, in fact we were on two separate floors, and the staff on duty were not that apologetic or concerned. If being closest to everything downtown is what you're looking for, then this would do!
Great hotel, great breakfast and very friendly staff. The rooms where a good size and the valet where helpful and made sure we had help when ever needed. The front desk was very helpful and very polite.
Excellent location, friendly and helpful staff. Has clean quality rooms, lounge, restaurant and coffee shop on premises. always treated extremely well here. Valet / concierge staff is the best. The location is near banks, restaurants, shopping and the metro.
I've been at the Best Western Ville-Marie for a one night stay with a friend. The hotel is very well situated downtown, near metro and all services. We had excellent service and a big comfortable room. Thank you!
In the past 15 years, we chose to stay in this hotel for its location, friendly manager and comfortable room. The hotel is one block from a major underground shopping mall which takes you all the way to Simmon department store, McGill university, Bay department store etc., You take the entrance on 1445 Peel street and you are in the mall! Last week, we stayed in room 901, a spacious junior suite with two TVs, mini fridge, Kerug coffee maker. The heater/ air conditioner is extremely quiet, one could hardly hear any sound when it is on! The Queen bed is firm and comfortable. Bed linens are fine too.
Hotel was very clean, staff were very accommodating. Nice hotel. Not fancy but just right. Will definitely stay here again. The cafe in the lobby area is simply amazing. The best coffee I have ever had in my travels
We have used this venue a number of times to host group trainings, dinners, and other events. They give an excellent service for catering and have a private, quiet space with tables for your meetings.
Despite the hotel being a bit older, our room was clean and comfortable, and the staff helpful, polite and very welcoming. But this hotel's biggest asset is its location right downtown, within walking distance to everything. There is no self-parking, so valet parking was a necessity and an added expense of $25. The Cafe Castel adjoining the lobby was handy for a quick breakfast before we left in the morning (the cappuccino art was very impressive!).
I have been to this hotel twice and I visit Montreal all the time. They have valet park ring and bellmen to bring up your luggage. Also the two restaurants inside the hotel are great and it is right downtown in the best spot you could be! Everyone is very kind and helpful if you need anything. I recently had a situation where I left some clothing at the hotel!! I was so upset because I was sick on my way home and couldn't go back to get it. The manager Rafik and his assistant Rania were right on top of it and were able to get my clothes to me overnight! I live in the states so needless to say I was elated to be able to get my belongings back. I will definitely be staying there again as I love the service there!! If you love Montreal and need somewhere affordable this is the place!
Good place to stay for business. Internet worked well (which is important), exercise equipment also worked well - which is equally important for somebody who spends a lot of time on the road. Front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. Cleaning staff needed to be a little more diligent, especially when you pay a premium.
The location is in walking distance of local shops and restaurants. The management and staff were very friendly and helpful. Their customer service is way above other hotels I have stayed at. We also had a dinner at the hotel with like 65 people and the servers and food were excellent. I would highly recommend this hotel.
Location of the hotel is perfect. Close from good restaurants, Ste Catherine street and shops. The hotel is very clean and employees very kind. Would recommend it! Also many services are offered so you can stay at the hotel and enjoy your stay!
We love this property!!! We have just finished our third year working with with this property and staff for our conference. We always receive excellent customer service, enjoy very clean (newly remodeled) rooms, very tasty buffet meals and a great experience from the time we arrive until our departure. Look forward to returning next year!
Beautiful hotel surrounded my restaurants & shopping. My room was excellent, very large, modern and super clean, I was with a tour group and disappointed we were only here for 1 night. There are two restaurants on sight. The staff was great. I will stay here next time for sure!
I stayed three nights at the Best Western Ville-Marie on a recent business trip to Montreal. The hotel is very close to McGill University and the shops downtown. There was no breakfast, but adjacent to the lobby is a small bistro, where you can have a croissant and coffee for a reasonable price. The building looks a little bit old fashioned, but the room was average Best Western Standard. Overall, it is a good choice for a short stay in Montreal.
I asked for a room away from the noise of the elevator - I was put right up against the elevator. I needed sleep because I had work early in the morning and they filled my entire floor with partying college kids. They moved me to a quieter room at 3:00 in the morning, which was nice, but I got 2-hours of sleep that night.
Everything started so well here, it is sad I can only give this 2 stars. The (repeated) violation of guests' privacy cannot be made up by great location, etc. The good: - Quick check-in - Protocol for Diamond BW Rewards members followed perfectly - Very convenient location for McGill, shopping, sightseeing - Great room size - Ample towels and amenity products The unacceptable: Despite the "do not disturb" sign my room was being entered by hotel staff for cleaning. When I complained I was treated so badly! The guy just wanted know if anything was stolen and when I said I don't think so, the conversation was over for him! I had left personal items out because I trusted the "do not disturb" sign would meant the hotel staff would respect my privacy. All my private documents were on the desk! It is not only about something being stolen, it is about purposefully violating guests' privacy. The room doesn't get entered by accident. As you can see from the picture, the sign is in the key card slot and has to be removed for staff to use their keys. Horrible! I started searching the reviews and it seems this keeps happening. Why is management not addressing this issue? What is going on here? I would never go back here.
Amazing service! Staff went out of their way to take care of us. Spacious bedroom and bathroom. I was thoroughly impressed with this hotel. Very clean too! I always judge the hotels I stay at based on service and this hotel serves its guests at a 5 star level!
We spent 2 nights in Montreal to see a hockey game. This hotel has great valet service, but make sure you take everything out of the car as parking is not on site. It's a short walk to the Bell Centre and amazing restaurants.
I stayed at the Best Western Ville Marie for one week. I was on holiday alone, and had a junior suite. The suite had a separate bedroom and living room area divided by a 3/4 wall. The bathroom was small, but adequate. The bathroom door opened out, which was good considering the space was small. Inside the suite there was also. Kitchenette with a mini fridge, toaster and microwav, which was convenient as I planned to get a few groceries. It would have been nice to have had paper towels provided, since there was a kitchen area. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. I used the gym, which was adequate. Plenty of cardio equipment and nautilus style weight machines; no free weights. Overall, I was pleased with the hotel. It was good value for dollar, especially if you are staying for a week, like I did. I would stay here again. The location is perfect, and had direct access to Mont Royal via Rue Peel; that was a real plus.
Good 10 min walk from the Bell Center if you want to see the Canadiens. Much cheaper to go out for breakfast than to pay hotel rate. Only real complaint was that the water pipes were real noisy in the room next door, it woke us up little pass 7am and we couldn't go back to sleep since it when on a while due to them being 4.
The experience was good overall. Check in was smooth and check out was fast. Staff was excellent with information for suggestions where to go out and eat. Everyone was friendly and the wifi worked very well.
We enjoyed our stay in October. The staff is friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and neat. The restaurant needs to have their buffet breakfast hot vs. Luke warm but the waiter was more than to happy to reheat my French toast.
My friend and I spent three night in this hotel. We were visiting Montreal and found it a really good location. Barely a block from the Metro station which was very efficient at getting us around. A short walk from an area with lots of restaurants and shops, although we spent most of our time in Old Montreal. Staff were friendly and helpful, although they were unable to resolve a problem with the cigarette smoke smell in our room - from an inconsiderate guest, since this is a non-smoking hotel. The room was very quiet and the beds were comfortable. The bathroom was huge, maybe for wheelchair access, but it would have been nice to have some hooks or a towel rail closer to the sink. Shower was hot, but not a very strong spray. I wish the maid service would complete the making of the bed. Once I took the multiple pillows off my bed, they were never replaced, were left on the chair. I like to come back to a fresh looking room where I can sit in my chair!
We stayed in Montreal in unseasonably warm weather and the visit was perfect. The BW Ville-Marie is a great hotel and the location is excellent. The stay was made even better by the staff but I have to call out Julien! He is the man! Anything you need ask for Julien. He will see to all your requests. Great Guy!
I stayed here for two nights for pleasure. The hotel is very conveniently placed for downtown Montreal and is one block away from the nearest Metro station (Peel). My room was facing away from the main roads of Sherbrooke and Peel and was therefore quiet. Its a shame the other guests decided to have a party at 2am in the corridor, which detracted from a good sleep. My room had a fridge, iron/ironing board and hairdryer. It was clean and a reasonable size. Breakfast was extra on my deal and I didn't think it was worth the cost, when there are so many places to eat out nearby. Staff were helpful too, and overall it was a reasonable place to stay.
It all started with our valet parking and Julien who helped us unload our luggage to the cart and then to our room. He was ourstanding and helpful throughout our stay! We cannot say enough about Julien, but all staff was great. The hotel is located within walking distance of many restaurants, high end shopping and the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, our main readon for visiting Montreal. Our breakfast, at Zawedeh, in the hotel, was good. We ordered off the menu rather than taking the breakfast buffet. It was good and the pirtion size perfect. Their coffee was outstanding. We booked this hotel in advance, through Trip Advisor, getting an excellent rate. Our room is more than adequate, updated and very clean. We'd stay here again.
My wife and I recently visited the beautiful city of Montreal for the first time this October. We stayed at the Best Western Ville-Marie for three nights and were very pleased as it is in a great part of town near many good restaurants, museums and transportation. The hotel also has one of the best concierges ever, Mike. He was extremely knowledgeable. and helpful in his recommendations and suggestions during our stay. I had left my raincoat in our hotel Quebec City and arranged to have it sent to Montreal, but it did not arrive until early Monday morning after we had already checked out and had gone the train station to return home in New York. When it arrived 30 minutes after our departure from the hotel, Mike drove it to the station, found me and returned it to me just as we were about to board our train! Kudos and many thanks to Mike for going above and beyond!
Located conveniently beside McGill University with very close access to the downtown core of Montreal. Walking distance from Rue St. Catharines which is a great spot for shopping. Staff fluent in both French and English and always willing to help. Rooms were very nice and well-kept!
Stayed for 2 nights at the hotel at whilst on a tour of the Eastern Cities of Canada. Great location close to all the action. The staff were first class. We had dinner the first night in the restaurant and enjoyed the meal with good service. We also had breakfast at the hotel and were very impressed with the choice on the buffet and the service from the staff. Our room was large, beds were comfortable and there was a fridge. The manager is very hands on and it was nice to chat with him before as we collected the luggage from the storage room on the last day. I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Montreal! Thank you for a lovely stay.
The hotel was in an excellent location. It was user friendly, the staff was excellent and most willing and able to answer any of our questions. I was a little worried about noise in the heart of the city but this hotel was quiet Andy you heard only minimal movement of other guests.
Stayed here as part of tour can not fault anything Reception and concierge staff fantastic and so friendly and helpful, nothing too much trouble Everything within walking distance Cafe within hotel good Rooms were lovely and great size Fridge always a bonus
The location of this hotel is great for business as well as for leisure; a walk away from downtown. The rooms need soon some updating, but they are clean. Parking is not easy, and you need help from the concierge. People are friendly and helpful. Nice cozy bar helps to rewind after a busy day.
I usually stay at the Best Western Europa. But, the rooms there are quite small. Rooms at this hotel are spacious. But, our bathroom could have been cleaner. Found some hairs in there upon check-in. Also the floor area where the tub meets the caulking was not very clean. I ended up cleaning up the dirt from there. I also think they have bit of an issue with mold in there. The concierge fellow is a bit of a scammer. We called and gave plenty of notice re: cancelling a taxi because our plans changed. He seemed to want compensation and tried to make us feel bad about cancelling. The fellow at the front desk was no better. When I mentioned what happened with the concierge, he asked me what the problem was and said that I wasn't charged for anything. I didn't like that... I also didn't like what happened when I requested room service. I requested tea before 10 pm when room service ends. I was told the kitchen was closed. I did end up getting my tea. But, I had to insist I be served. The tea was provided free of charge. But I should not have had to insist that I be served. I don't like to give negative reviews. But, I was really unhappy with my stay at this hotel.
Spent two nights there as part of a trip across Canada. Central to main shopping street and underground. Quite a walk from the old town and we found it a small bar. The restaurant was Lebanese, ok if you like that food. Room was a good size and clean, staff friendly and helpful.
Stayed here for a family weekend trip to Montreal. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Rooms were clean. Hotel was in a good location for the downtown area, and just a 30 minute walk to Old Montreal.
Usual Best Western standard, good location and amenities. Good size comfortable rooms. Staff helpful. What makes this hotel classed as EXCELLENT by us is the manager Rafik who went out of his way to sort an issue for us. As a manager nothing was too much trouble for him and would recommend staying here as an ideal base for exploring Montreal. We will continue to use Best Western whilst they have good managers like Rafik who are genuine and want guests to be satisfied during their stay.
We stayed here during our tour of Canada and it was an ideal hotel in a great location. Very spacious rooms with all you require including coffee maker, hairdryer, large tv, iron and free wi-fi. Plenty of places to eat nearby in Peel Street and we also walked to Notre Dame area which was about 20 minutes walk. I would recommend this hotel.
I have answered. Poor quality of French. Wake up call not respected for 4 persons of our group. Breakfast understaff. Can't get to answer in French. Even though I tried. Hope you will get my detailed comments which seem to have disappeared..
Room we had was very big, with large fridge and safe. beds were a bit soft but comfortable. Our room faced a busy road but double glazed windows kept the noise away. We had a huge television but the picture was braking a lot. There were plenty of restaurants near by and large supermarket 15 min away.
They have the best location in downtown, proffessional staff, rooms are super nice, clean and big, they have by far the best restaurant in montreal, very good looking from exterior to interior , I recommend it to everyone!
On the corner of Peel and Sherbrooke, the hotel is ideally located for visiting downtown atttractions- the McCord and Contemporary Art Museums are very close, as is the McGill campus, and shopping on Ste Catherine and surrounds. Also a walkable distance from Old Montreal, and if that doesn't suit, plenty of nearby public transport from buses and Metro. The hotel is quite large so it is popular with tour groups. The rooms are well-insulated so noise is not a problem, but the presence of tour buses unloading and unloading can make for an occasionally hazardous trip past the luggage piles through the lobby and for crowded elevators.
The hotel is in a good downtown location and the rooms are clean and comfortable, if a little basic. It's probably time to start refurbishing the rooms...the carpet in our room certainly needed to be cleaned. Staff were friendly and helpful.
If you plan on living in the place then it is a average to above rooms are basics but have everything you need .Front desk is helpful.. the Bar down stairs was run very well . The hotel employees are 2nd to none very helpful went above and beyond for us. The wife and i went to Montreal to see the city not hotel we only spend 20hrs out of 5 days there .Location is perfect
Everything was just perfect. Helpful staff and great accommodation is convenient downtown location. I stay here every time I come to Montreal. Easy walking distance to everywhere around the universities and restaurants.
Lovely & different with all of the beautiful flowers everywhere. Best beef sandwich I ever had. My friend had the lobster sandwich and enjoyed very much. Very clean washrooms. Wait staff vey friendly & helpful! Highly recommended.
Rooms are spacious. Bathroom could have been cleaner. Found hairs in there upon check-in. Also, the floor area where the tub meets the caulking was not very clean. I cleaned up the dirt from there. I think they have an issue with mold. The concierge fellow is a bit of a scammer. We called and gave plenty of notice RE: cancelling a taxi because our plans changed. He seemed to want compensation and tried to make us feel bad about cancelling. The fellow at the front desk was no better. When I mentioned the fiasco with the concierge, he said "what's the problem? You didn't have to pay for anything" The other thing I didn't like was I requested tea before 10 pm when their room service ends. I was told the kitchen was closed. I checked the hotel directory and realized I had called before they closed. I called back and had to insist that I be served. The tea was provided free of charge. But I should not have had to insist that I be served.
The support team is really great specially the Front office. I had to keep on extending my days due to some unplanned job, however they have tried and kept me in the same room as long as they could. Really very helpful. It has situated in the best location.
We had a double room with 2 double beds and good size bathroom. We were on a breakfast included option. Both me and my grandson aged 11 liked the breakfast which included hot food, fruit, Danish pastries and cereals. We also had one evening meal in the restaurant which serves Lebanese food. This was delicious and compared favourably price wise with other meals we had in Montreal. The location is excellent for shopping, visiting Mont Royale and McGill University. The metro is nearby. The staff are very helpful.
We had a great stay at this hotel. The location was convenient to restaurants and other attractions. The hotel staff were very helpful and spoke both French and English. We had breakfast in the restaurant each morning -- good buffet. The only parking is valet parking -- the service was good, but a little expensive. I would definitely stay here again!
Great experience. Rafik Zikriy - general manager made every effort to make sure this was a comfortable experience. Location was great and staff were very helpful and friendly. Hotel is clean and well kept, would defiantly go back.
The hotel and services were excellent. BUT, accessing the hotel front entrance either by Peel street or Sherbrooke street is IMPOSSIBLE...because of "one way " signs all over the streets around the area making it impossible to park temporarily at the front entrance to unload/load luggage.
Pros: Great location in downtown Montréal. Close to shopping and the Peel metro station. Very clean, comfortable rooms. Cons: Parking was a little on the expensive side but the hotel is located downtown so it is to be expected.
This hotel seriously needs to lift its game and look up the meaning of customer service. I Wasn't advised my credit card was charged stay plus bond on arrival. Couldn't find my bags when I came to check in staff where rude. When they found my bags downstairs I was told I would need to get my friend and we would need to carry them. When I checked out staff had sneakers untucked shirt looked like he had rolled out of bed. Asked for an umbrella as it was raining was told they didn't have any I would need to get wet. At reception struggling with two bands two bell boys stood there didn't help. Ordered room service toast was bread and no salt and pepper, no conditioner in room, phone didn't work. Attention to detail not there and staff have no customer service and are disinterested in helping and will pass u off as soon as possible so they don't have to do anything. Room was very noisy listening to other people's plumbing running through your room make sure you bring ear plugs. Cosmos group also stay there so can be big groups around doesn't help when u need to check in. Location is quite good 20 min walk to old town and station close by. Room size was good in a twin room. I am sure there are better options available I would look elsewhere.
We found the stay very pleasant. Staff were very accomadating and courteous. We would stay there again if we were in Montreal again. The location was good for us.We don't speak French, but found no trouble in communicating with staff.
Stayed 2 nights and enjoyed being able to walk to Mount Royal and Catherine St. Looked around for cheaper parking but ended up using the valet option with in/out access. Lobby and room were pleasant, staff were helpful. Would stay here again.
We stayed here for 4 nights to move our daughter into McGill. It's a perfect location, close to McGill, metro stops, lots of shops and restaurants. The room was OK. It was clean, but pretty small and bare bones for the price point. Not a lot nicer than the place we stayed last year that was slightly cheaper and a suite plus free breakfast. Some wear and tear and light staining on the carpets. Not a big deal, but not something I expected from this brand or price. The bathroom was clean, but there was zero counter space, even though it was fairly spacious. The ceramic kleenex box was conveniently located on top of the toilet, blocking the flushing mechanism, so we kept it out in the main room. There was a tray of toiletries that was kept on the rim of the bathtub, so we kept that in the main room as well, since it would get knocked over very easily. A small stand or table in the bathroom would have solved both these things. All the staff we dealt with were friendly and helpful, especially the valet staff who kept our bags on our checkout day and arranged a cab to the airport for us. I did like the elevator set up, which was 3 small elevators (4 people max) and one large one, which meant that there was always one available. Other pluses - the free wifi was good, and the mini fridge was handy for drinks and snacks. Would I stay again? Probably not. There was nothing wrong with our stay, but it wasn't enough better than a budget hotel to justify the price difference.
Hotel is located right downtown and only blocks away from major shopping venues. Rooms were very spacious and comfortable. Bed was a little too soft for my liking but the rest of my family enjoyed them.
Thank you very much for a wonderful stay. Professional, friendly staff, great location, clean, spacious rooms. It was home away from home. It was not my first visit at Best Western Ville Marie - it is always a great experience. I am always recommending this hotel to my friends and clients.
Located in the downtown and very near to all the good eating joints & restaurants is a good place to stay. The staff is very cooperative & helpful. Nice - clean rooms. Though the buffet breakfast is not elaborate but ok.
As 2 Senior Women visitors to Montreal, Q C, Canada, I from NV, my friend from VA, we were unsure of where to book a room. Relax & Enjoy a stay at Best Western Ville-Marie, Peel St & Rue Sherbrooke, w/ Flags from every Country flying Proudly. The room was Large, Clean, Comfortable, my bed was Comfy, there was a refrigerator, a real Coffee Maker, Yay, free WiFi, & we were in the middle of every possible mode of transportation, shopping, eating places & visitor attractions. All employees were friendly & helpful. My only complaint- there were no towel bars in the bathroom & only 1 hook for robes or wet towels.
Stayed one night on Canadian tour Central hotel Easy check in Room 508 - very good Clean , two Queen beds very comfortable Food in bar very good Only slight issue is that bedroom curtains were decorative side panels and did not close Free WiFi and room safe
This hotel is in a great location. We spent five days there and enjoyed their friendly staff and good restaurant and coffee shop. Parking is available -- but there is a daily charge. The room was comfortable, clean quiet and reasonable. We enjoyed our stay and did lots of sightseeing.
I stayed at the Best Western Ville-Marie at the end of a tour of eastern Canada. It is in a very good position, close to many museums, restaurants & other places of interest. The room I had was on the 10th floor, it was a lovely big room, nicely presented & very quiet. There were plenty of towels, an iron & board & a safe. The day I was leaving, my taxi arrived late, to take me to the airport. In the confusion, I left my reading glasses on the reception desk. I only noticed they were gone when I looked for them to read on the plane. Arriving back in the UK, I emailed the hotel, to see if they had been found. The general manager replied, saying they had been found, & he would post them to me.They arrived, & I cannot thank him enough for his help. He was so courteous , & the shipping charges were paid by the hotel. I will stay here again when I am next in Montreal. Thank you, I had a great stay with you.
We were on a Starr Bus trip from the USA. Nice room, refrigeraterin room. Comfortable bed. Close to places to pick up a quice meal or a snack. Nice view from the outdoor terrace Nice staff. free Wifi.
This hotel is clean and comfortable. It's located in a nice area and close to a metro stop. The staff were very courteous. Unfortunately, the parking is only valet and costs $25 (Canadian), but otherwise, I was very satisfied with my stay.
We met in an multi-national group for our reunion at this location. The rooms were good- clean and accessible. The cafe in the lobby was expensive and had a limited menu but other places were nearby. The location of the hotel was quite central to places to visit.
Really enjoyed this hotel. Close to everything...... we were able to walk to restaurants and attractions. Concierge staff was helpful with transportation information and restaurant suggestions. Restaurant staff were cheerful and friendly, too!
Really nice hotel with lovely large rooms and bathrooms. The staff were lovely and so helpful. Would have liked to have stayed longer here. Near to shops and restaurants and easy walking to the centre of town.
This hotel is very overpriced, the breakfast looks like a school cafeteria, with tiny plastic cups for juice, small selection of food. The hallways are dingy, and the hot water took over five minutes of running the water to get hot in the shower.
Hotel centrally located. Walking distance of Montreal main shopping above and below ground. Superb restaurants and pub eateries. Hotel staff excellent, professional and accommodating. Room was on 19th floor with an excellent view of Mont Royale. The room and accessories were relatively ne and no complaints about the bedding. Mattress was excellent for a good night sleep.
Very satisfied with this property and surprised there was availability considering all the major events going on in town at the same town (world triathlon championships, 3-day music festival, cosplay event, and Latin festival).
Stayed here on the last night of a tour of eastern Canadian cities. The beds were nice and the rooms clean although the bathroom layout was a trifle odd. The staff seemed helpful. There are a few restaurants within a couple of blocks and you're only a few blocks from the center - although it's all uphill when returning. There us a nice sitting area behind reception if you want to sit and visit as there is only a desk chair in the room.
Booked this hotel on a discount website , thoroughly impressed. Very clean and centrally located to downtown and a short car ride away from old Montreal. Cafe out front was very good for a quick breakfast / coffee stop.
If you're interested in a medium level hotel at high prices, this is the place for you. There are two great things about this hotel, the lobby is nice, and the location is pretty good. After that it's just nothing particularly special. The rooms are fine, but nothing out of this world, you have to pay extra for breakfast and parking. Worst of all you have to use valet parking, so you have to wait for your car. You can call them in advance from your room, but frankly I still had to wait anyways. Worst of all you're expected to tip the valet for a service you may not even want. The folks at the front desk were nice enough, but not particularly warm or helpful. They checked you in and that's about it. The thing that makes this hotel below average is the fact that it's not cheap. If it was a bit more moderate in price, or at the very least offered free breakfast then maybe I wouldn't have written this slightly negative review.
This hotel is centrally located, within walking distance to many sights. The room was spacious and clean and the bed was very comfortable. Our room was a little noisy being right next to the elevator but did not keep me up at night.
The room was very odd shaped. long and skinny then open to where the bed was. Long walk to bath area. oddest shaped room I have ever seen. My wife took a shower and I knowing better walked across the carpet barefoot to the shower. Puddles of water were still in the shower. I stepped in and my the water turned colors from dirt on my feet. I ran a damp white wash rag over the carpet and it came up dirty. disgusting. Breakfast of scrambled eggs in the plush dining room was not even eggs. It had the consistency of grits, and did not taste like any scrambled egg I have ever ate. This facility was not worth anywhere near the $205 it cost. Terrible place.
Comfortable hotel.Spent two nights. Only had a coffeemaker in room. Overseas travellers need an electric jug for boiling water for tea. Handy to Mont Royale and eateries. Coffee shop staff very friendly.
I found the hotel to be nice and centrally located in a smart neighbourhood. The hotel itself looked decent from the outside and a nice clean lobby. The front desk staff were polite and the checking was fast and efficient. Our room was on the 5th floor, was clean fairly modern and had all the standard facilities you could want. The in room wifi was excellent and definitely a selling point. We were able to leave our bags with the concierge on check out so we could wander around the city with hauling our luggage behind us. I also left a item in the room which the general manager went out of his way to return to me via international post (fantastic level of service). I can't comment on the food as we paid for a room only rate but the cafe on the ground floor looked very promising. All in all a very nice hotel at a good price point with very good customer service.
I slept one night in a room, but I had to change of room. When I arrive the mornin at the lobby, they told that my room wasn't ready, so they didn't gave me my room card yet. When I went back in the evening, to go take my room card, they told me that it wasn't possible to give my room because they needed my credit card information, when they were supposed to keep tose information, but I didn't have my credit card on me. I live 5 hour from this hotel. So I faced the receptionist who put me away, and make me wait 1:30 at least. So the service is really, I had work to do, I had to eat, but all of this didn't happen that night, because of the poor service
I stayed at this hotel for two nights in March 2017. The room was comfortable and the location wonderfully central, but what I remember most is the great service. The front desk staff were always more than pleasant; they seemed like truly kind people who wanted to make sure I was looked after. I needed help twice during my stay, and both times the hotel staff went out of their way to help me. The first problem was that I needed access to a printer so that I could print a train ticket, and the front desk staff saved the day by allowing me to use the printer in their office. This was wonderful of them. The second problem was that when I checked out, I left a computer cord and phone cord behind. I called the hotel and found out that the housekeeping staff had turned in the items, which was impressive in itself. Even more impressive was that the hotel manager himself packaged up the cords and shipped them back to me and then called to make sure they had arrived! I felt like a fool, of course, for forgetting the cords, but he graciously said that it's so easy to forget cords that people do it often. All in all – if you want a comfortable, centrally located hotel, and if you want to be treated kindly and with respect and consideration, I recommend you go to the Best Western Ville Marie Montreal!
We enjoyed our stay. Access and location were very convenient.Room was comfortable with nice view. Valet parking was expedient. Restaurants, shops and McGill University were all within easy walking distance.
Clean rooms, comfortable and well appointed. The breakfast was healthy and filling and the staff were well informed, courteous, and helpful. The hotel was situated close to all the attractions we wanted to see. Would certainly visit it again.
This hotel is beautiful and perfectly located. You can walk to a lot of places, restaurants and museums. Close to Old Montreal as well. We really enjoyed our stay in this hotel, you have to pay for parking but we didn't it was too expensive $25CAD per night. Nice staff and they have a little cafe on the main floor, it was ok food but convenient
Been staying at this hotel every July for the past 12 yrs. Lovely staff and great service. Look forward to my yearly visit. Close to everything> You can walk to everything in the city> Close to Eaton Mall
Hotel is in great location with an excellent café for food throughout the day. Staff welcomed us close to midnight and were so friendly and incredibly helpful throughout our trip. It is really clear that they want to ensure everyone has a special time in Montreal and our family certainly did. Rafik Zikry, the General Manager, went above and beyond when my daughter thought she had lost her wallet there. She was most upset about losing her Montreal school I.D (she went on 3 month exchange trip in Montreal recently). Rafik even offered to help liaise with the school to get a duplicate one issued and to arrange shipping to Australia. That level of genuine customer service and concern truly stands out. I would really recommend this hotel - just a lovely feel. We will be back one day! Alex S, Sydney
We enjoyed our two night stay while visiting Montreal. The rooms were quite large with comfortable beds. The staff were pleasant and helpful. There is a cute coffee shop with excellent baked goods attached to the lobby. The location was great we were able to walk to many attractions including the art museum and several jazz clubs.
Central location, a bit of a walk to some points of interest (like old town), but close to public transportation, in a good downtown area, good room size and good layout, totally separate bathroom, but translucent panels in bathroom door allow light to shine into bed area, clean, quiet, comfortable, good condition, and good restaurant in house.
We were able to check in early at 1PM by friendly efficient front desk and our car was parked by valet service as we planed to use the great Metro subway system Montreal has.We spent a great afternoon and evening at wonderful The Jazz Festival in the heart of the city. My only complaint was that room service was not available after 10 PM. The room was small but certainly adequate for our needs and clean.
Hotel is very convenient to multiple Metro stops, various restaurants, and downtown. Plus McGill, and several universities, are only a few minutes walk from the hotel. Room, Lobby, and common areas were clean and inviting. Breakfast is a nice continental breakfast and was included with stay. Rafiq is the GM and greeted us most kindly each day, as did all of the employees at the hotel. We have stayed a couple of times and plan to do so again soon. Our visit kept us over a weekend and we found a couple of churches in the area that we would recommend as well. Renaissance Church is located in Little Burgundy and is an English speaking Church and La Chappelle there is a French speaking Church. Both have wonderful pastors, who are true to the word and Love their communities and show that love through their actions, and involvement, in their communities. Nothing in Montreal is more than a few minutes away via the Metro systems, and the town and people are so kind. Needless to say we will go back.
My family and I spent 5 nights in this lovely and well-located hotel. We booked our reservation to attend the Montreal Jazz Fest as well as Canada Day, and both activities were within a maximum 30 minute walk from hotel. We were very well serviced by specifically two very kind men, Brahim and Mahmoud! They knew the city very well and provided us with directions to everywhere we needed to go. They also helped us with our luggage and car. The staff at reception were also very genuinely kind :) Highly recommend a stay in this hotel! However, we DO NOT recommend breakfast as it was expensive and the food offered was not worth the value paid, you could easily get something to eat from the café next door or anywhere near the hotel as there are many good breakfast options near the hotel.
This hotel is in a fabulous location. It is a "Boutique Style" hotel, very quiet but in the heart of everything. The rooms are spacious and extremely comfortable. The staff can't be more helpful, they are professional and very courteous. The restaurant and cafe offer varied menus. Close to the metro, McGill University, the Museum of Beau Arts, you can walk to just about anywhere. Put this on your list. I love this property.
The room we had is big and comfortable. The bar area is quiet and uninspiring, we didn't bother with the restaurant as there are several in walking distance. I agree with some other reviewers who said the front desk staff are a bit difficult. One note of caution is not to use the iron and a hair dryer at the same time. It tripped our breaker and we lost power from all sockets for 30 minutes until the maintenance staff fixed it.
The location of this hotel on Sherbrook street and close to the train station and metro, art museum and the main park is its main asset. On the other hand, most of the hotel facilities look rather tired (such as doors, elevators, windows, etc.). In our case (we had a studio), one of the rooms had absolutely no light (we found this very curios and frustrating and we had to relocate a lamp to have a bit of light), the opening of the windows was a nightmare (old system impossible to operate), etc. Worst of all was however the breakfast which is not included in the room rate. We were surprised to see when arriving that there was only another table occupied. We understood why when seeing the so called buffet - they were having almost nothing and the existing products were of a low quality. Even for the coffee (which was not very good) we had to ask the waitress for a cup to pour in as you cannot find it there. On the top of it, the cost of the breakfast was very very high for the quality. Everything was made as if they did not wanted you there. Even the personnel, while smiling, they were rather discussing between them than taking care of us. To conclude - a hotel too expensive for the quality.
Descent hotel, OK cleanliness of rooms, very good location. My biggest issue was dealing with Valet Service. They act like beggars, always expecting you to tip them, even just for bringing your car up and down for parking, no other options for your parking, just valet, for which you pay extra $25 per day. And if you dare not to tip them, they make faces and fuss about it. Also found them making inappropriate comments to my wife.
In this range of price, you can found a better hotel in Montreal. We had not a really nice service and the follow up on our demand was not made. We ask to received the invoice by mail and 1 week later, after follow-up we didn't received anything... we had also some problem with the room when we arrive, they ask us to change after one night in another room...Overall pretty average service in an average hotel.
Convenient central location for seeing Montreal, we walked miles! Booking in at reception was smooth and efficient. I booked two rooms and found we had adjoining doors which was great as we shared a suitcase. Rooms were comfortable and huge. Great shower. Disappointed with the bar which we like to use in the evening after a full day of exploring. My pet hate are TV's in the bar and there were 3 of them plus a radio station providing the music with lots of breaks for advertisements. Needless to say a couple of visits were enough and we found somewhere else nearby. I asked the concierge for help on our first night as the ladies facilities are accessed in the evening with use of your room key but the door was difficult to open. He made me feel uncomfortable about interrupting his conversation with other staff members and I received quite unpleasant looks from him the following evening. I didn't approach him again for information or help due to this incident.
I stayed 7 days in this hotel recently. Everything about this hotel was great. 1. The booking with the reservation manager, Rania Tohme was a pleasant experience. She was at all times prompt and polite.2. The staff at the counter were all polite and helpful. They go out of their way to help us. 3. The restaurant staff were also very efficient. The food was good and ample. I was a returning customer and my previous and current experiences with this hotel have been great. The hotel is in the best position with a 5 minutes walk to the Metro and close to shops and restaurants. I will NOT hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone hoping to visit Montreal. Contact Ms Rania Tohme in the fist instance with your booking.
Wonderful weekend at the F1 GP, thanks team Best Western for going the extra steps, nice room, clean (very), quick to fix a small issue, valet parking was worth it. Will stay there again in the future.
This is my third trip to Montreal in the past 2 years with the specific purpose of visiting McGill University. For the prior 2 trips, I stayed at the Sofitel and Omni, but both of those were booked this time. I was pleasantly surprised at the Best Western and would stay here again for the price difference. Very large, clean rooms. Good restaurant. Nice lobby. Great location. Helpful staff. The only thing keeping me from giving it a 5 star rating is the decor in the hallways...a little dated, and the small elevators. But those are very nit-picky things. I'd definitely recommend.
We booked three rooms for family and friends, all king beds. Comfortable beds, lovely rooms, nice bathroom with amenities and plenty of hot water, everything very clean! Only negatives are, elevators can be slow, large tour groups come through, arrival is on the street (Peel) making it difficult to load/unload luggage. Very convenient to McGill and downtown, perfect for graduation!
We had excellent service at a great price. The room was good and the bed great! Staff was very accommodating and helpful. We had a free room upgrade because we were members of their points club. Would certainly stay here again
Stayed at the BW Ville-Marie during recent Montreal business trip. I enjoyed my stay and would recommend. The location is ideal at the corner of Peel & Sherbrooke Ouest. - Room: Good size, nice bathroom, clean, good number of outlets to charge devices. Bed was comfy and pillows were fluffy. - Valet/Parking: $25/day, valet staff friendly and accommodating. Allow a bit of time, so if you are in rush plan ahead. - Decor: Dated, however the lobby is cozy and has comfy chairs. - Restaurant/Cafe: they only open at 7am. Had to go out for breakfast. That was a bit inconvenient for early meeting departures. Heard from other guests that the restau/Cafe are good. - Staff: friendly, courteous and professional. Good service. - Overall: I enjoyed my stay. The constant construction is inconvenient however that has nothing to do with the hotel. I would have preferred an early breakfast option for early departures. Good value overall. The location is fantastic and close to so many attractions in Montreal.
Ideal location in city centre, staff all seemed friendly and helpful, the room was a little on the small side, but others rooms will no doubt vary, equipped with all the accoutrements you would expect from a hotel of this caliper. Noise level generally good although there was an element of the door slam syndrome present.
Great size room with 2 double beds, nice sized bathroom, plenty of room for cases. Fridge and coffee maker in the room and a gym on the 3 rd floor. A bit noisy on a Friday night but the bed was comfortable. Easy walk to shops and places of interest, we walked to the Notre Dame quite easily, using part of the underground city!
This hotel is situated in a great location, comfortable bed, thin walls/doors not soundproofed so if you are close to an elevator you can hear every conversation of passerby's, the staff were helpful. The café attached to the hotel is great.
Excellent accommodations and location. Wonderful service, staff repeatedly went out of their way to assist us. Hotel is located within short walking distance of so many attractions, shopping and businesses.
The hotel is 20 stories but only has two elevators and not all go to top floors. Décor style is dated and fittings and furniture needs updating and refurbishment. Staff vary in their sincerity in dealing with guests.
We only stayed here for one night but would high recommend the hotel. Great location, right next to the "arty" street, start of the shopping street and Dorchester square. 15 minute walk up to the park and a 30 minute walk to the old town (left and down). The room was clean, very spacious, quiet and with all the necessities.
Incredibly responsive management, excellent service, great value, and unbelievable location. Thank you for making our event successful by taking great care of our VIPs. The location is clean, central, and a perfect base camp to see the city.
Arrived late at night on a long weekend after the hotel that we had a paid reservation with did not have a room available. Our phone was out of power and Elizabeth (front desk staff) found her personal charger and lent it to us for the night. The hotel room ended up being cheaper than our original hotel and was very nice/clean with a comfortable bed. Breakfast was ok, but our experience with the hotel was wonderful due to the extra effort from the check in staff.
If you want to visit old Montreal the location of the hotel is a bit out of the way. Location is ok if you want to visit the newer part of town or mont Royal. Friendly reception, good room, the breakfast average. Ask for a room on a higher level to avoid the street noise.
I organized a conference at the Best Western Ville-Marie and the team, lead by General Manager Rafik Zikry, went above and beyond each of our expectations. Aside from taking care of traditional conference-related matters, they quickly addressed every request we made and often solved problems before we knew they existed! The staff is enthusiastic, energetic, dedicated and gracious. Whether it was pre-ordering food and allocating hotel rooms or changing venue locations and guiding guests around the city, the team at Best Western Ville-Marie continuously surprised us in the most pleasant ways. When organizing our next conference we will undoubtedly remember our positive experiences at the Best Western Ville-Marie.
I enjoyed my stay in this hotel while attending a conference. It was next to the centre of town and all shops and restaurants were within walking distance. However, no swimming pool. Room was large and comfortable.
will come back again. good location. friendly staff. went out of their way for my special request. great coffee shop in the lobby. The bed was super comfortable. Didn't want to get up. When in Montreal I recommend everyone to give this hotel a try.
I stayed here one night while waiting for my room at another hotel. The price was ok. High for a metropolitan location I thought. Everyone was nice enough. The hotel is a bit worn I think and could use an update (for the price). If I was staying at a best western in an outlying area at half the price I'd have nothing to beef about.
The Hotel was very good and the staff was very helpful. They were tireless helping me find my phone. The manager Rafik Zikry and his colleagues were super diligent and beyond normal standards! Thank you very much! Excellent service!
For the insanely expensive price a night here, this is without doubt the worst hotel I've ever had the misfortune to stay in. The beds are uncomfortable, the pillows are stuffed polyester, the light switches are in the wrong place. Oh and that's just the start of it... Look at what is currently going on until midnight outside the hotel. Huge roadworks which result in outrageously loud intrusive noises. Even when the drilling finally stopped at midnight (!!!) the hotel room I was in continues to have noises invading my quiet space. It is the absolute worst. I was also further woken up at 0500 becsuss the hotel can't work out how to install black out curtains. The light just shines through a gap you can NOT close. See enclosed pictures. In conclusion I absolutely hate this hotel; do not stay here. You will be unable to sleep, and they are literally thieving your money with each night you stay. I'm off now to go get a full refund.
I stayed at this hotel for three nights for work the first week of may. Its location is fantastic being right on Peel street with all the stores in walking distance. It was very quiet despite all the road construction surrounding the hotel. My room, which was on the 18th floor, was modest in size and decoration but it was clean. I saw some renovations being done on some floors which will help. It's not fancy but the staff was very nice, the hotel restaurant, which is Lebanese, was good. Although more renos should be done to make it a nicer spot, it really was a comfortable stay and the staff made it enjoyable. Just FYI, the parking fee is not included in the price of the room.
Nice rooms, mostly helpful staff, but the hotel is a little pokey. All the road works around it doesn't help - not their fault though. Inside, it is generally nice, but it feels like a lot of rooms and other amenities have been wedged into spaces that are not well adapted for their given purpose.
We had a terrific two night stay at the Best Western Ville-Marie Montreal April 2017. The hotel is an older building but has been maintained well and is clean. The location is very good for McGill Mount Royal and and the shopping area of St. Catherine. Metro is close. The staff is very kind and helpful. The rates are good value. Parking is valet only which adds a bit to the cost because you really need to tip these guys well for the great service they provide. We have stayed here three times, as we visit our daughter at McGil,l and it has worked well for us.
Great hotel with a great location. The rooms were really great, absolutely huge with an even bigger bathroom/shower area the room was clean and modern with a very comfy bed! We had Breakfast here which was lovely. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
needed a place near McGill unversity medical building. Perfect location. Had dinner from the restaurant in the lobby brought to my room..very good. There is a coffee shop in the lobby too. Would go back.
The hotel is very clean and nicely renovated recently. The room is good quality (single king-size bed) with a nice closet, safe, iron in the room and the bathroom is very comfortable in size. Good, fast internet is provided and the TV options are quite extensive too. The room also had a fridge to keep drinks and left-overs cold. I wish the door wasn't right at the end of the bed as I was awakened a couple of times by people in the hallway. The door didn't keep the noise out or seem to dampen it at all. The linens are high quality. Unfortunately during my stay the 2 main streets and many others around the area are all under construction creating excess traffic, noise and dirt everywhere. It doesn't affect the stay at the hotel too much, but definitely makes it hard to enjoy the area.
The hotel is affordable high quality option in Montreal. The rooms are large and airy and well appointed. The Lebanese resturant is good option. The location is good for holiday and business guests. I recommend the hotel.
I chose to stay at Best Western after reading reviews and viewing photos of bedrooms. This is a three star hotel that has everything one needs including a restaurant on site and a cafe. Ideally situated in the area of the art galleries and a block or so from the subway. 17 or so restaurants are nearby. My lady friend and I had a very spacious room with 2 Queen beds and spacious wardrobe with mirrors. There was a private safe too. Very clean with mostly pleasant staff and a concierge. Recommended. Good value.
Very clean and convenient place to stay while in Montreal! The staff was very friendly, helpful and professional. Very quiet at night. Bathrooms clean and neat. All aspects of the room worked, e.g, TV, AC/heat. The bed was spacious and comfortable.
Great location, close to university. Room renovated recently, room clean, friendly staff, helpful. Will come back. Free internet. Breakfast is ok, you paid what you asked for. Walking distance to close by shopping area.
We had a 3-days meeting at the hotel and our guest were staying at the hotel. It is not the first time and the guest were very happy to hear that they were staying there again. The staff were very friendly at the same time professional. I dealt with general manager and he was the sweetest person! Done our request quickly and response is quick as well. No stress when dealing with them. We had also a lunch style buffet. We had many choices and it was delicious. Overall, I will definitely come back for business, family, solo, etc stay.
Excellent, clean, friendly staff, newly reno room but still see the age effect. Internet worked nicely, convenient location esp for visitor to McGill. Quiet and nice sleep. Helpful staff in finding a restaurant at 10:30pm to eat. Overall, good dollar value. Will come back for sure when we are in McGill again
A bunch of thieves... The morning of checkout, I slipped in the bathroom, and caught myself on the wall, which broke the cover to the light switch (no big deal I thought). I picked up the pieces, and threw it away. Didn't even bother mentioning it at checkout, as it was a simple fix. 4 days later I check my bank account... $430 charge for the repair!!! I called up and asked how in the hell it cost that much, as I am a construction worker myself, and know for a fact that it wouldn't cost even $100 to fix. All the condescending guy on the other line kept saying is "that's what we charge." And when I asked for a receipt of the work, he said "no that is not out policy." Complete sham. I am all for paying to fix what I broke, but $430 to fix a broken light switch plate is beyond outrageous.
Very nice budget hotel with an excellent location. Close to Metro and Underground City. Everyone spoke English so that was an added bonus for me. The best of all was the service, Elizabeth at front desk was an absolute gem. Only issue was the two queen bed room was a bit too small for a family of four.
This hotel was booked as a one night stay as a place to lay our heads down for the night. The location was good for our needs. Chose to have parking off site at a cheaper lot. We were satisfied with our room and stay, didn't use any of the amenities and had a very fast check in and check out. We would return to this hotel on another trip to Montreal for a basic hotel with no luxury items, but it fit the bill and our needs.
I made my reservation a few months ahead of time so I got a good price. The hotel room looked exactly like the picture! The linens were nice. Very comfortable bed. Everything was awesome. Stayed three nights. Room 1107. A few blocks from the Bell centre. One block from the Metro. Very convenient. Would definitely go again.
Hotel was OK but there were some issues. The valet parking was expensive ($25 per night). The blackout curtains in the room were very difficult to adjust resulting in a clip coming off of them. Major complaint is the lack of noice isolation between rooms. Occupants next door arrived after midnight one night and proceeded to engage in yelling and screaming until 2 AM rendering sleep impossible. Conversation in the next room was clearly audible. Bed sagged in the middle. Generally hotel being older was not up to standard particularly given the price charged.
I am a widowed senior woman. The Best Western Ville Marie Hotel and Sujites is by far the best hotel for high quality of staff and service. My room was very CLEAN! I definitely will stay at the BW Ville Marie Hotel & Suites - as my first choice of Hotel!
This hotel was conveniently located near McGill. It was very clean, pretty conveniently located, and had a decent coffee shop. We enjoyed our stay and would stay again if we are in Montreal. Room service was decent.
We had a great time at this hotel! We come to Montreal a lot and I think this is our new favourite place to stay. Huge thank you to all the staff for their exceptional customer service. We look forward to our next visit!
The hotel itself is neat - very old and interesting. Surprisingly large rooms for downtown Montreal. But what really shines at this hotel is the service and the people. I held what was supposed to be a 3-day conference there. The manager, Rafik, made the setup and planning so easy. The conference room was beautiful, and we were kept continuously stocked with food and coffee. Rafik personally came to check on the set up and our satisfaction with it. At the end of the first day we were told we had to cancel the conference. Rafik was very understanding. The next morning, we were told the conference was back on. How annoying!!!! Yet Rafik was very gracious about it. Finally, we did end up cancelling the third day. I was so embarrassed.... but Rafik took it all in stride. Again, he made everything easy to deal with, and we had an enjoyable conversation about positivity and how challenges are opportunities. This is the 3rd time we have held a conference there, and it will definitely not be the last.
The Best Western Ville-Marie is a very nice hotel with helpful and courteous staff. It was conveniently located for our visit to McGill University. The only issue we had was the parking garage which had ceilings too low to fit a pickup truck.
when checking in at around 3pm on a saturday i had to wait over an hour to get my car parked by the valet, their was only 1 valet parking attendant working which i think on saturday at checking in time their should be at the very least 2 people working, terrible planning & scheduling by the hotel, and i was very disappointed because no employee seemed to care.
Great location, terrific hotel. Spacious, comfortable, professional staff. Close to McGill university, downtown, walking distance to old city. Reasonable rates and adequate wifi. Very clean and comfortable.
Clean, comfy hotel with good efficient employees. The location is great, near the metro, a bank and lots of food options. A bar and restaurant on site, as well as a coffee shop. The valet crew is excellent, they greet you promptly with a smile get you situated quickly. The front desk crew is solidly efficient. We ate at the restaurant and had good friendly service.
Great hotel for value and service. The staff is very friendly and helpful. It is in a great downtown location. They have valet parking for an extra $25. A day. Restaurant and coffee shop are excellent. Will definitely have friends and family stay there.
The location was perfect. The cleanliness, style, and overall atmosphere of the hotel far exceeded my expectations. And having valet parking was great. Even the hotel restaurant offered decent and healthy choices for breakfast. The view from our window was blocked by a duct of some sort, and they did offer us to switch rooms. I would stay again!
Stayed for 3 nights in November. It's a great location, we never took transit or uber/cab while exploring Montreal. Hotel is old but clean. We could hear some noises throughout the day occasionally (wasn't sure what it was. Some machine?) but it wasn't loud enough to disturb our sleep. Room was small (1 queen bed) but bed was comfortable. Good price.
Staff is great! Special thanks to Mike, Head Valet. He and his crew really take care of you. Location is excellent....walking distance to all bars, clubs, restaurants, shopping and the Bell Centre, which we attended for the Leafs vs. Habs. If you want to score tickets, Mike is the man. Hats off to everyone.
Convenient location. Easy check in and check out. Large room. Friendly staff. Valet parking was seamless.Reasonable rate. I'll stay again. Close to a lot of shopping and restaurants. It's a short walk to the Bell Center.
We were really pleased with our large room, nice style and ideal location. We are able to walk to many shops, museums, galleries, restaurants and he metro stop. The staff went out of their way in service at all levels.
We were in town for a hockey game and wanted a place that was close to the Bell Centre, not too expensive (we were only in the room to sleep) and clean. This location fit the bill. Check in was quick and we were close to everything. Lots of construction in the area so difficult to get around. We valet parked which alleviated our worries of finding parking and navigating the busy and congested streets. We didn't try either but there was a cafe and bar attached to the lobby. Would definitely choose this location again.
Stop searching and book Best Western Ville-Marie. I have stayed at this property twice and will for sure book it again. If you are an event planner you really need to give this property a chance to earn your business and take care of your group. I just hosted a conference of 30 couples at this property this week and everyone loved the location and enjoyed their stay. None of the other downtown chain hotels could even come close to the group room rate and food & beverage cost for our group of 60 people. The AV company they contract with was the easiest I have ever worked with. Our rooms were very clean and the beds were comfortable. Honestly my room looked like it had just been completely renovated. Very Nice! The entire staff were amazing to work with. Our meeting space was just the perfect size and exactly what we needed. Our dinner buffet and breakfast buffet was very fresh and tasty. The chef takes pride in his food presentation and the service was amazing. The general manager Rafik Zikry strives to make sure every person that walks into his lobby enjoys their stay. Make sure you take a short stroll down the street to Reuben's for a sandwich. Yum.....my favorite!
Generic sound hotel. Was in room next to ice machine so that was noisy all night and the hot water took a while to get hot. No weights in the gym. Pillows were too soft for me. Room was clean. Wouldn't rush to return but wouldn't avoid either.
We stayed here while visiting Montreal. We had room 606 on the 6th floor, which was great as it was very quiet. The hotel is well located, within a few blocks from Peel metro station and the city centre. The room was spacious enough, spotless, beds were comfortable. We had a great stay. I would also like to mention the female receptionist we had as she was very professional and helpful. She gave us an available room before check in time and helped us out with every single question we had. Also, the porter was very polite and kept our luggage on the last day after check out because our train was at 7pm, of course it was free of charge. All in all I highly recommend this hotel and I d be glad to be back there.
The Best Western Ville-Marie Hotel recently helped my organization plan rooms for a conference, and they were excellent to work with. They prices they offered us were an excellent value and included breakfast. They ensured everything went smoothly and our participants were happy. The rooms were recently renovated and are are spacious for a downtown hotel. There is a coffee shop, restaurant & bar in the lobby. The location is great for downtown Montreal and public transportation. Thanks so much to them for making our event a success.
This large hotel provides a safe, clean, and quiet environment in a central location. However, its name may be somewhat misleading--I don't think it's in Ville-Marie. It's especially close to the wonderful Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. I had to replace my key card twice in two days, and if there was breakfast I couldn't find it, but otherwise, I had a perfectly smooth stay.
Review of Best Western Ville Marie - Montreal This is my 2nd time staying at this wonderful Hotel. Was here in November 2016 Travel as a solo. Came to Montreal to see Habs game. Very good hotel to stay here. Quick check in and the location is totally awesome. Very clean and many things around the hotel. Just steps from Mt Royal and the university. I used room service while at this hotel. Very amazing. They were so fast in bringing my order. The food was amazing and warm as well.Room well furnished and clean. Very close to underground city, if you go exploring remember where you entered for your exit. Bell Center is a short walk for those who love hockey. Good staff. Good restaurants directly on main floor of building. The Best Western Ville-Marie will continue to be our hotel of choice when visiting the beautiful city of Montreal! Recommend this for all types of travellers. Solo, groups, seniors, families etc. Thanks again
we held a conference for 60 people 1-3 November 2016. As the Contracts Officer, I did not actually attend the conference, I only set up the facilities and rentals. Mr Rafik Zikry was extremely helpful and courteous, and went out of his way to make this conference a success. Several attendees have told me the hotel is wonderful, great rooms, excellent service and prime location. I will definitely book more events at this hotel, and would suggest any size group do the same. Rafik, thank you so much for all you did for us.
I have stayed at this hotel three times in the past year as my daughter was going through the application process at McGill Universitiyand then visiting her as a student there. The hotel is located right at the edge of campus and is easily accessible to all areas of Montreal. There is also a lovely cafe in the lobby of the hotel where one can get delicious pastries and coffee. The staff of the hotel is always warm, friendly and helpful. I am sure I will stay there again soon!
Stayed here 10 October as part of a COSMOS Tour. Room well furnished and clean. Bonus a bath tub, just great for soaking those sore tourist "walking" legs. Very close to underground city, if you go exploring remember where you entered for your exit. We managed to easily confuse ourselves, but hey part of the fun.
I had the chance to stay at the Best Western Ville-Marie and I had a wonderful stay. Everything was great. Room, reception, restaurant, bed, bathroom. Good location. Good price. Will certainly stay again.
I just stayed at this hotel for three nights and it was wonderful! The staff is friendly and very helpful. My room was clean and just right. There was plenty of hot water and fresh towels. There is a cafe and restaurant right in the hotel - both are very good! This hotel is conveniently located within a few steps of McGill University. It is also only two blocks from Saint Catherine Street which is perfect for those of us who love to shop. If that isn't enough, the Bell Center is a short walk for those who love hockey. Valet Parking is available at a reasonable daily fee.
I was in Montreal for a conference and was booked into this hotel. The room was clean and a good size, the hotel is conveniently located in the heart of downtown Montreal, and the restaurant downstairs has a good morning buffet breakfast (it was included for my stay, but am not sure whether this is always the case). After I checked out, I was contacted by hotel general manager Rafik Zikry because I had left my jewellery case in the room's safety deposit box! He was amazing in his follow up - couriering me my jewellery and then checking to confirm I received it. Very, very impressed.
Friendly helpful staff and very clean comfortable room. Good value. Parking was difficult as it was not clearly marked, construction surrounded the building, traffic was moving at a standstill. Valet Parking area was inaccessible.
We recently hosted a group of about 40 people here at this hotel. Located in downtown Montreal we found it to be a great location in close proximity to many shopping areas and restaurants including the hotel's restaurant and a coffee shop/cafe onsite. The sleeping rooms were spacious and very clean. Beds were comfortable. The meeting rooms that we utilized were spacious, clean and private. The food that's in the restaurant and through catering was excellent. Their staff was extremely friendly and attentive to all of our needs. Kudos to the entire staff for their excellent level of customer service and kindness. We will be returning to this hotel and hosting our events in the future at this location.
Had a wonderful stay as usual. Would not consider any other hotel in Montreal. Attentive staff, delicious breakfast, very clean rooms. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting an exceptional experience.
Clean and convenient Vallet parking $25 - street parking available in evening so you don't really need it. Free breakfast would have been wonderful. Comfortable bed Clean bathroom Helpful staff The concierge led us to a great tour.
We are a tour company that brings groups to Montreal 2-3 times per year. We have been staying at the Best Western Ville-Marie for years now. We always have a very positive experience. The hotel is very charming and the staff extremely helpful and courteous. The rooms are clean and very comfortable. This property is located in the heart of downtown. You can find many eateries, shops and public transportation as soon as you walk out the doors. The Best Western Ville-Marie will continue to be our hotel of choice when visiting the beautiful city of Montreal!
All the employees work hard for the well-being of their customer, especially Rafik Zikry, the current General Manager. I forgot an item following my last visit and he shipped it to my house for free the day following my call.
Hotel is a large BW located in the centre of Montreal, convenient to shopping, restaurants and about a 15 minute walk from the Gare Central. Access to the hotel was a challenge due to major roadworks taking place at and around the hotel. The room was extremely spacious and clean, the bed comfortable although the lighting was a little dim. The bathroom was good and the shower were both good. We did not take breakfast due to an early departure. If you are looking for a reasonably priced, centrally located hotel then the Ville Marie would be a good choice.
We stayed here for 2 nights. We had not been to Montreal in many years and wanted a good location for walking, which it has, next to McGill. However, the street in front of the hotel was torn up, which made crossing it pretty dangerous, especially before realized that the signs (only in French, of course) said "Use the other crosswalk." The parking seemed expensive ($22/day CDN; most lots downtown charged $15) and the total charge per night was not a great value ($188/nt US), although that may be the going rate for the area. The bed was good with a nice summer blanket, and the bathtub had a grab bar on the side. There was a nice view of Mont Royal but only one tiny window.
Our company held a conference in Montreal this October, the sales manger Rania Tohme was extremely helpful and accommodating in arranging and booking all our staff and guests. We got a great rate, it was close to our venue and everyone was taken care of.
I organize a large conference here in Montreal every year, my guests stay at the Best Western Ville-Marie. The hotel is clean and the staff extremely nice. The restaurant in the hotel - Zawadeh - is absolutely delicious and serves true Lebanese food. We have always been extremely impressed and satisfied!
As a training business it is very important to project the right sort of image every time we host an event and the staff at this hotel have never let us down. We always get great reviews on the feedback forms about its venue, location and customer service.
Stayed at this hotel recently for 2 nights, the rooms are huge in size. My bathroom was really big, nice updated shower and large bathtub. Check in was fairly quick, and concierge service was welcoming and very nice in getting us cabs and taking care of our luggage's on checkout. Lobby needs renovation, it felt tired and outdated. I would stay there again if the price is right!
The bar staff totally ignored us when at the bar as the mainly French speaking staff spent more time with French guests. Also restaurant staff could be heard being rude to dinner guests and told us while waiting at the bar that he would come back to serve us but just did not bother, rest of the staff in the hotel were great.
We stayed in a Deluxe room with a king bed. The room was a very good size. There was a sitting area between the bedroom and the bathroom. The staff were friendly and helpful. The concierge recommended a restaurant for us to have dinner, which was very good. The Metro is only about a block away and shopping on Rue Sainte-Catherine is walking distance. The Grayline hop-on hop-off bus is also just a few blocks away. The hotel is reasonably priced and is good value for the money.
Excellent customer service from the front desk and valet. All my questions were promptly answered. Convenient location, near the Metro and to many great shopping and dining locations. Room was comfortable and clean. Bathroom door had frosted glass panels, a bit awkward since I was travelling with my son. Would definitely stay here again, next time I'm in Montreal.
Great room comfortable beds and pillows. Bathroom clean and hot water at all times. Restaurant adequate but not fabulous whilst cafe great food and service. Near art galleries, information centre where hop on hop of tours start and close to train and underground city....great experience but take care and take detailed map so you can locate connecting pathways.
An excellent hotel with quick service and very reliable internet services - this is what I needed while in town on business for a few days. I didn't have a chance to use other amenities, but they looked to be of an equally high standard.
When I first arrived and entered my room I was delighted at the size and cleanliness. Unfortunately it ends there. You can hear people in their rooms all night and doors crashing closed. When I say crashing I mean the entire floor reverberates from the doors. The gym is nice but when you are exhausted from no sleep fitness is not your top priority. It is centrally located but that is also bad when people come back to their rooms late making noise. Lots of tours stay there too and so you can hear them arriving late and leaving early. I won't stay here again.
In September my wife an I spent a long weekend in Montreal and chose this hotel for its location and economy. We found that for its price, it offered a lot of amenities, but the best was its walking location only a few blocks off St Catherine's. Recommend it for anyone looking to see Montreal.
First of all, the friendly and helpful staff greeted us upon arrival. The room was very clean and comfortable. We were on the 17th floor and is was so quiet, I thought we were the only ones on our wing. The bed was amazing and I loved the deep bath tub, which aw wonderful for soaking in after a long day of shopping. Overall, great hotel!
Ten years ago, I stayed for the first time at the Best Western Ville Marie. Since then, I returned each year several times when on business trips in Montreal. Over the past decade I have never been disappointed by this hotel. Personalized service, clean and comfortable rooms, and excellent food in their in house restaurant. The hotel has also renovated all rooms with new comfortable bedding, new furniture, and modern TVs. Overall, the Best Western Ville-Marie remains on of the best values in Montreal!
Really enjoyed my stay at the BW Ville Marie. The rooms were huge with plenty of space to work and relax. The rooms are super clean and the cleaning staff was friendly. The service in general was very good. The front desk staff was helpful and happy to help. Same with the servers in the breakfast area. The location is great both for business and leisure. I would definitely go back!
We spent only one night here as we were in town for a concert at the Bell Centre. The hotel is in a very convenient location for walking the downtown or hopping on the Metro. Since there is a lot of road work ongoing we recommend parking your car at the hotel and using public transit. Valet parking is $25.00 per day. The room was large with comfy chairs, desk. Fridge & coffeemaker. Lots of storage and closet space. There were night tables on both sides of the bed. Lots of outlets for charging your devices. Bathroom was small but clean and serviceable. Would definitely stay here again
Good thing is that it's close to the city center. A ver, very old hotel. Halls need to be redone.....elevators updated. The bathroom was so small, and with a glass door, so when someone used the room in the night, they had to turn the light in, thus waking others up. Woke up to no water. Not impressed.
We stayed 3 nights here after a cruise. The locatin was great for visiting the art museums and other attractions along Rue Sherbrooke. The Peel Street Metro Station and the underground are nearby. Multiple restaurants are close and a nice little independent coffee shop is just off of the lobby. This made a good location to explore Old Montreal and the McGill campus area attractions.
I recently visited Montreal (Quebec) Canada, to attend the Annual Montreal Jazz Festival, July 5-10, 2016. During that time, my son-in-law and I stayed at the fabulous Best Western Ville-Marie. Everything about the hotel we loved. The hotel accommodations, the location, and most of all the super staff. With this being the first time that we have visited Montreal and attended the jazz festival, the staff at Best Western Ville-Marie made our visit there one of our most memorable ever! From check-in to check-out, everything went like clockwork. The staff was very friendly, helpful and professional. It actually felt like home, even though we were miles and a world apart from Savannah, Georgia (USA). The rooms were very clean, organized, and had the comforts of home away from home. To start the day, you've got to have breakfast, and that can be accomplished right there in the hotel. A hearty breakfast at that! If you want to have coffee, tea, or a soft drink later that morning or during the day and early evening, be sure to check out the coffee shop, located…..right there in the hotel. How about shopping? You are only a couple blocks from the most exclusive shopping district in Montreal, above ground and underground. How about attending the jazz festival? You are only about 20-25 minute walk from the hotel. Say you want to check out some tours of this magnificent city, you only have a 15 minute walk to the city's tour center. A visit to any city would not be complete without a great steak dinner and a night on the town at one of the many night clubs. You won't mind walking a couple of blocks in two different directions from this wonderful hotel. Now you may be wondering how these two dudes did all of this in 5 days? We couldn't have done all of these things without the help and guidance of Mike and Abraham at the Concierge Desk. We really have to give a shout out to these two cats that guided and assisted us to do all the things that I've mentioned. A real asset to the hotel and the city of Montreal, I might add. I tried to keep this short, but how could I with the wonderful time that we had in Montreal! So, on your next visit to Montreal (Quebec) Canada, I highly recommend the Best Western Ville-Marie hotel. You will be glad that you did.
good location very comfortable hotel clean, well appointed. hotel staff very helpful and polite would stay again only thing that needs improvement is breakfast, off menu ordering would be better than buffet
Stayed here for 3 nights. The staff were very welcoming and our room was quiet and the beds comfortable. The hotel is in a good location to walk from, however it is in need of refurbishment. There are so many restaurants near the hotel we didn't have a meal there.
I used to eat and stay here when it was the Royal Embassy Hotel (showing my age) and quite the in spot downtown. The hotel has been refurbished but one can still feel the age of the building - not much attention was paid to details such as door frames poorly trimmed and such. I have lung problems and the slight moldy smell in the bathroom was discomforting. Great size room however and all the necessary amenities. The staff was quite helpful and I had an excellent espresso on the ground floor. It's an excellent location for at least 3 museums .... great shopping and dining.
Staff friendly and helpful. Room excellent - plenty of power points and also usb points for charging devices! Great central location can eat in the cafe attached for breakfast and Lebanese restaurant for dinner - both at reasonable prices! Thoroughly enjoyed our stay there - roadworks outside but only inconvenience was the crossing of the road which was policed during the day anyway! Cannot fault it!
Very nice hotel. Room was nice, bed was good, bathroom was clean. Staff was helpful in giving us tips for getting around Montreal. Hotel is a block or two from the McGill University campus so there was a little street buzz from a lot of 20-year-olds moving around (which we like). Also 4 blocks from the base of Mount Royal and near the shopping & restaurants on Rue St Catherine & Rue Sherbrooke.
We stayed at the Best Western Ville Marie for 4 nights at the beginning of September 2016. Good time to visit – the weather was lovely (about 24 degrees) when we were there. Having stayed at many Best Westerns in the US we thought this was a safe bet and we were right as the room was large, comfortable and what you would expect from this brand. I'd probably say the corridors and bathrooms look a little more worn than others but nothing major. The staff weren't overly friendly on check-in or check-out but they were efficient and we had no issues. One major issue with our stay was the massive amount of road construction outside the hotel which surrounded the hotel on two sides. This was only a minor issue outside in that there was a bit of a wait to cross the roads but it did cause us some issues inside the hotel. When we first checked in we were given a room on the 7th floor and thought we'd got quite a good room allocation as it seemed high. The next morning we were woken at 7am on the dot by huge amounts of noise from the roadworks outside. We were awake anyway through jet lag and thought it was a one off early start so didn't worry too much about it as in fairness it wasn't the fault of the hotel. On the 2nd morning, despite being heavy sleepers, we were woke again at 7am on the dot and then for the next two mornings too. Over the course of our stay from getting in and out of the lifts with other people we then realised everyone else was actually on much a higher floors like 10 to 15 and so at the end of our stay, we felt we had actually got one of the worst room allocations. We should have probably asked to be moved but we thought it was outside the hotels control but in retrospect it felt like they looked after other people more without asking. As previously mentioned, roadworks and start times are outside the control of the hotel but the noise was so loud that I almost think hotels shouldn't be allowed to allocate rooms at full price that have this noise level so early – if you can't sleep when you want to as a guest this isn't really fulfilling the deal. We work 48 weeks a year getting up at 6.30am every day, we shouldn't be forced into early nights and early starts on vacation too. If nothing else an acknowledgement of the issue or an apology would have been a nice touch but at the end of our stay we felt like the total lack of communication about the roadworks came across as ‘suck it up'. If you're visiting in late 2016 I imagine this will still be an issue so if 7am sounds like an early start take ear plugs and this should help. Despite all this, the hotel has many plus points on a normal day: • There is a small café and Lebanese restaurant just off reception if you don't want to wander too far. However, you are only 5 minutes away (in most directions) from many other coffee shops and bakeries. Tim Horton's is a cheap and cheerful Canadian brand and is only a few minutes away on Rue Stanley. There aren't many obvious convenience stores around the hotel so we walked to Provigo on Avenue Parc which is a fairly large and reasonably priced supermarket. They also sell international phone cards which worked out incredibly cheap for us to call the UK from any hotel phone as a toll free number. We bought a $10 card and only used maybe $2. • You are also only 5 minutes away from ‘Peel' tube station. We found the metro really easy to use and used it more than we thought as some tourist spots are quite a distance from each other. We bought a couple of day passes and used them quite a lot mainly on the green and orange lines. In retrospect, we wished we had bought the 3 day pass at the airport when we bought the bus ticket. • The hotel is pretty easy to reach using the 747 bus from the airport. If you have lots of luggage (we had a suitcase each and a rucksack and are aged 37) it might be best to take a taxi from the airport. This is really well signposted at the airport. You either need to buy a one day pass (24 hours use on metro and bus) at $10 or a 3 days at $18. I wish we'd have got the $18. You then walk out to the signposted stop and get on board with your luggage. A staff member helped us with our luggage which was good. We then got off at stop 4 – René-Lévesque &Rue Peel. (You then just need to walk about 3 blocks up a fairly flat street/very slight incline which is Rue Peel. It took about 10 mins.) The driver shouted the stop number so I'd try and sit near the front or ask the driver to tell you when it's your stop. It's about 30 mins or so (I think) before they start making any stops at all so don't worry! (If you do a search on the Trip Adviser forums there is a step by step guide to using the bus available). • Location wise – around the hotel seemed to be easy, busy and safe to walk at all times. It takes around 30 mins to walk to Notre Dame and the old town. Very near to McGill University. Around 10 mins to the main shopping street. Mont Royal is behind the hotel so just turn right and head for the green hill! It's a bit of a climb but if you're reasonably agile just take it slow and its worth it! There are about 400 steps or some longer flatter paths up to the viewing point. So hopefully that is all of use! In conclusion…the roadworks issue is of course dependent on the time you visit and your room allocation so in fairness I would say on an average day this hotel would suit most people as base for visiting Montreal. If you've stayed at a Best Western in the US/Canada before I'm sure ordinarily you'd think it was of a comparable standard. As a hotel room for a tourist out most of the day I'd say it fits the bill for most people.
The Best Western Ville Marie delivered a great experience this week. Nothing extraordinary but everything as it should be. Great responsive staff, fairly priced room service, and a great base for exploring montreal. Located just blocks away from the standard tourist sights and close to bus lines and subways. Would definitely stay again.
Lovely hotel. Walking distance from the shopping centre and down town. Most shopping areas ate ok Rue St. Catherine. Also check out the Bay. Simple breakfast in the morning for just 18 Canadian dollars. There's also a cafe adjoining the Hotel where you could get a quick meal or breakfast. Good internet free with no extra fee. The rooms are adequately furnished with an ironing board and an iron. There is also a gym with simple gym equipment. The concierge service was good and helpful. They kept my suitcase safe after checkout and I collected it upon departure. They also organised a taxi to the airport.
I stayed once again at the Best Western Ville Marie during one of the busiest times: the start of a University year. The service I received was simply exceptional... from the staff at the front-desk, the Valet reps, the housekeeping staff, the dining room service and even from the General Manager... the service was as good as they have always provided me. Furthermore, the hotel's location is the best in the city of Montreal. I highly recommend this Best Western! It is a pleasure to stay here. Andres Venegas
Stayed here for a long weekend in September. Rooms are a good size, lots of closet space. Hotel was generally quiet. Café downstairs was nice if in need of a major design overhaul. The location is great, close to Rue Ste Catherine but not too close. I would definitely consider staying here again.
Nice room, comfy bed and pillows. Fabulous bathroom! So hard to get out of the shower, it was so nice. Lovely long bench to put everything on. Plenty of space. Ask for a room away from the lifts as you hear Bing, Bing every time the lift comes to the floor and lifts are busy up till midnight or later. Good location close to shops etc. Lebanese restaurant provided nice meals. Staff not so friendly and waited 45 minutes for tables to be cleared and get coffee. Didn't happen so we left and went across the road for nice coffee and cake. A lot of road works happening outside hotel, don't expect to sleep in!
In a central location for numerous city based sites and not to far to walk to the top of the hill for views over the city. But you will need good stamina for that. Hotel is quite compact as it sits on a busy corner. Restaurant also attached. Room was a good size for one or two people. Very clean and tidy - bathroom too. Found the coffee machine complicated. Room had a fridge and iron and board. Free WiFi. Due to busy streets outside I recommend perhaps ear plugs for the lite sleeper. Also could hear people in corridor. Echoes a bit. Overall for a medium budget hotel seems good enough.
It was so nice to be in a great hotel after we had spent 5 nights in one not so great in Quebec City. The Best Western Villa Marie is a great choice for a stay in Montreal. It is in a great location for shopping and transit to get around the city. The staff are great and very nice people. There is a great Lebanese restaurant in the hotel. After returning home I realized that I had left my expensive perfume in the room. I call the hotel on a whim not really expecting to get it as it had been over a week since we left and much to my surprise they had my perfume. I offered to pay for shipping if they could send it. I dealt with Rafik Zikry general manager and he was so helpful. After he let me know it was in transit, I asked how he would like me to get the funds to him and he told me not to worry about it. I was so grateful for all his help and generosity. Would recommend this hotel to anyone as everything was to our satisfaction and beyond.
Staff was nice. The room we had was a king size standard room for two guests. Room service was ok but a little pricey. The restaurant again was average. The room was very clean and nice. Bathroom was average; decent size. No compliants bout the room but nothing special. The hotel is situated in a decent location. Walking distance to pretty much anything; good dance clubs, strip bars and really good restaurants. No pool or hot tub. And for the type of room we got there was no free breakfast included.
Impeccable service, staff was very professional and very kind. Nice room. Heartwarming welcome. Our meeting was prepared at the last minute. Still, the hotel management responded to our requests quickly and very professionally. I recommend this hotel.
i have stated the problems with this hotel above. it is run cheap and does not know anything about good customer relations , the bathroom was dangerous and as i said before cheap and a small amount of toilet paper, plastic cups instead of glasses they cut off the internet a few minutes after 12 pm having stay at this hotel many times before, it would appear from the above that it has a new owner or management another example is that breakfast is served on cold plates
We spent 2 nights at this hotel. The first and last of our 7 day trip. It is very well located and the personnel fully bilingual always ready to help. Close to many restaurants, stores, public transport. Parking is expensive ($28) unless you go on the week end and can find a free spot across the street.
Good and comfortable hotel, very well situated close to the center of Montreal, to the University, to the park of Mont Royal and to many good restaurants and cafés. The staff is very competent and always ready to help
This Best Western Ville Marie Montreal Hotel I found centrally located near the Peel Metro Station, comfortable and quiet. The room was spacious, clean and relaxing . I had booked when there had been a cancellation and felt fortunate I had gotten the accommodation during a busy Labour Day weekend.
easy book in, polite efficient service everyone spoke English. in our 10 day family trip to Canada this was the only hotel to realise that 2 rooms under one booking meant we wanted to be next door to each other! the rooms were clean, large and comfortable with easy chairs and a table to sit around. it was nicely situated in town, not too noisy but close enough to walk everywhere. Montreal was friendly and lots to see. we had a couple of niggles that we couldn't do anything about really and didn't spoil the trip but here goes We were told it was a set price of $40 for taxi to airport and hotel but nobody told the taxi drivers I expect because there and back we were asked for $45 plus tip! What's up with the glass doors on the on suite? the toilet is directly opposite the door, very, very uncomfortable! even the towels weren't big enough to drape over the door to block out view. as I was sharing with my husband and son we all moved around the two rooms to give each other privacy. finally the two rooms we were given were next to the lift and opposite the gym, people were inconsiderate with the talking and noise outside the rooms early morning especially. a good job I dint have very young children. last one ; wont use the hotel bar/restaurant - service definitely not with a smile or politeness. overall a really nice stay.
The hotel is a great location but a little too far to walk to old town. Room is great, bathroom and shower facility great. Free wifi available and fridge is provided to store our medication. We collected a map from reception and basically walked everywhere for 3 hours. The underground shoping and food stalls are great. We ate our dinner in one of the underground food court.at reasonable price. We will recommend this hotel. I am not sure of the cost since we are traveling on a COSMOS tour.
I'm here just to overnight between Quebec and Miami. It was raining in Montreal when I left on the Sunday, and its still raining when I get back to Montreal again on Tuesday evening. And in fact is pouring down. So I'm stuck in the hotel, which means I have a little more interaction with the staff than expected. Check-in was efficient and organized. Sorted in 5 minutes. Am in a room about 2 floors from the top, but the A-C unit outside must have a panel loose, so it's clang-clang-clang-clang means I can't stay here. Call reception, they say come down and get a new room. No quibbles, new room assigned in 2 minutes. Lovely, quiet. Room service is my only option. Seems expensive, but portions huge and I can't finish. Efficient checkout at 3.30am next day.
Both of the rooms we rented were well appointed and bright. Wi-fi was dependable. The location was good and near the subway. We were disappointed that our two rooms were 3 floors apart rather than next to each other as requested, but understood their dilemma considering we didn't arrive until early evening. Our room lock didn't work properly, so they promptly sent someone to fix it. However, we continued to have problems with it but learned to pull the door towards us as we inserted the key and then it worked. We discovered that several other people on our floor had the same issue. On our last night, 8 men partied loudly in the room across for us. We were told nothing could be done until 11:00 PM. Since this is not the behavior we would expect at a hotel of this caliber, we would not stay here again.
This one is not hugely different from ca. 10 high-end hotels all within ca. 5 city blocks near downtown and near McGill. They are all expensive, though this one is sometimes a bit more reasonable with various deals and manager's specials. Parking is by valet at Can$25/day. Everything works, and the rooms are comfortable, fairly large, with everything you'd expect. Best to be high up (say, > 11th floor) because of street noise. Staff are friendly and helpful. Valets have a tough job but are quick.
Very nice people and staff is so professional. The rooms aver very clean and everything is simply great. The restaurant "Zawedeh" is the best ! if you wish to eat lebanese food, make sure you eat at Zawedeh. one of the best lebanese menu. I recommend this hotel and will come back soon Thank you all for the hard work, the professionalism and hospitality. Sabine Track
Great hotel, in the center of downtown Montreal. Very affordable, clean up-to-date and spacious room, courteous, helpful staff, good breakfast selection, modern and welcoming reception area. Valet parking was quick and helpful. which was great since the adjoining streets are in the process of reconstruction (as is the entire city!), but the room was still very quiet. Would certainly stay there again!
The hotel is close to the metro stop (Peel) and walking distance to St Catherine for shopping. My room was quite dark as the window is small compared to the size of the room. Bed was comfortable and the bathroom adequate. The room had a dated feel to it. Hotel staff where friendly and very helpful which is a plus. I tried the small cafe for breakfast. Coffee was ok, but the fried breakfast was poor.
From check in to check out we had a very good experience. The location was perfect for getting around the City and close to shopping, restaurants etc. Did not eat in the restaurant attached so cannot comment on that, however we did have a montreal bagel in the cafe whichwas very good.
We have stayed here 3 times. After an okay experience the first time, taking our son on a tour of McGill at their open house (this hotel is very near the university so that is it's main advantage), we returned in August 2014 to take him to school and get him set up in his residence. Upon checking out, we waited a full hour for our car to come from the valet parking, and even then, they revealed they could not find it! Turns out they had lost our car key. It was a complete fiasco, but the general Manager, Rafik, was very kind and helpful, and got us breakfast, knowing I was very stressed out. He invited us to please return and he would "take care of us." This past weekend we took him up on his offer, but we booked on Booking.com, which we realize now was an error. We found the same guys responsible for the parking, and they really have a terrible attitude to guests. They will not move when they get your car. It is clear they are taking care of you not because it is good service, but because they expect a tip. Nasty. They hang around staring until you come up with the tip for them. We found this disturbing and ended up just not tipping them. The second problem was that Rafik, though he was expecting us, was not in when we checked in on Friday. He instructed the front desk man, Peter, to give us coupons for the restaurant breakfast. Ugh. You can get a much nicer breakfast across the street, really, really good. The buffet breakfast in the hotel is plain awful. But I guess if you have a coupon and its' "free" then try it out. Do not pay for it though! Finally, the room was a huge disappointment. The room cost was high and the room was much smaller than we would have expected having stayed there twice before. How is it possible for a hotel to rent out rooms at only a few dollars less than the usual rate, when they are so much smaller? Our bathroom was a narrow corridor. We will never return to this hotel, since we gave them a second chance and they continued to disappoint. Rafik, you are a very nice person, and likely you are doing something right to keep the same employees over time, but unfortunately, you are not checking who is returning to you from previous stays, and therefore, what type of room you might want to give them. And...you need to train your concierge guys to make customer service a priority, rather than to treat guests poorly and work only for tips. PS The room was not clean when we checked in either, but I couldn't be bothered to complain anymore.
We were in Montreal as tourists, mom and son, age 11. We often use Best Western. We liked he location and the very very helpful concierge. We used the valet and they were very courteous. We didn't love that they didn't have a pool and that the hallways were shirt and dimly lite. We enjoyed the bar side of the restaurant and he staff there were kind.
The hotel is situated in the corner of a very busy street with lots of construction. Not recommended when looking for a quiet room. We were placed on the 3rd floor and it was very noisy. The elevator was very small and the wash room was just basically 3ft x 5 ft. The front desk on duty at noon when we checked out today, Wednesday August 24 was not vey friendly and was very rude. She should be fired and management should replace with a more competent and friendly staff. The only good thing about this hotel were the guys from the valet parking. Two thumbs up for them.
From the Front desk Personnel to the Valet attendant everyone at the Hotel was cordial and helpful. We took the 747bus from the airport and had a 4 block walk to the Hotel. The rooms were large and comfortable. The breakfast can be had in the attached cafe which had a very nice menu and very affordable. We only had drinks in the hotel lounge but a full menu for dinner was available there. The restaurants on Crescent street, a 2block walk were easily accessible. The Valet will store luggage if needed for a late departure.
Stayed here for two nights. It is in down town Montreal, and takes about 20mins to walk down to the old quarter of Montreal and the Notre-Dame Basilica. The rooms were spacious and light and the beds were comfortable. A reasonable hotel for a couple of nights..
Very organized, great service - everyone is coridal and polite, great location, near downtown - you can go by walk. I left before breakfast time and they send me a snack before I live. I recommend and I would stay again.
upon booking this hotel, we sent a request for an early check in, we got there at 1230pm and sure enough our room was ready, we were received by a fine young woman and the desk she was polite, friendly and answered our questions promptly,, the hotel was clean and decor was fine,, we didnt try any of the 2 restaurant that is on hotel grounds, but they looked fine, this hotel does not have any swimming pool by the way.. and they charge 25$ plus taxes on valet parking, no option to park it yourself, that would be my only problem with this hotel.. this hotel is in downtown but 15 mins away from old montreal area.
Stayed one night on a drive through Quebec no reservation, supposedly they had one room left. Had a great view but was the size of a shoe box for with tax $250 The receptionist did show me the room but I didn't have a choice considering she told me it was the last room. I had no problem the room was so small but the price for that room is out of this world. Plus we paid $28 parking/valet. Yet no one parked my car I drove it myself. Books a head for sure. Not good for pricing in a stop over one night choice. Almost $300 for a shoe box and a park ur own valet lol
Staying here was a great experience, the staff friendly from the concierge to the Valets. Enjoyed bantering with the Valets. The hotel is ideally located within striking distance to the downtown core, restaurants cafes, pub etc.We occupied two adjoining room. They were both large with king size beds and very comfortable. The only criticism of the rooms were the marble thresh hold to the bathroom which is raised from the carpeting perhaps about two inches or so on which I tripped and stumped my toes more than once. We had breakfast at the hotels cafe on the last day, the food was good, an informal atmosphere nonetheless enjoyable. Thanks for being part of our vacation 2016, we're likely to consider a stay here upon return..:-)
Good location Superb stuff Parking option Comfy room Good bed Everything is close Very accessible City Tourist Center just nearby WiFi is free All in All good I had good days in Montreal residing in this hotel, you can have breakfast nearby in many restaurants, fast food places or the bistro attached to the hotel
This does not compare to my favorite Best Western Santa Ana Airport. Its lobby is grander, the staff is very pleasant and dressed appropriately for an "upscale hotel", but the rooms are like any BW Plus Hotel and breakfast is not complimentary ($16 Canadian per person). It is relatively quiet, with slamming of doors the only noise. A pleasant experience overall.
This is a upscale Best Western hotel in a 4-5 star hotels neighborhood. Ritz Carlton is just 5-min walk down the road. Lots of restaurants & activities in the neighborhood but it's safe & as it's in a quiet corner. Walk to St.Catherine shopping street is just 10 minutes & 5 minutes to the Peel metro station. Staff are helpful & polite. I booked a bigger deluxe Queen bedroom with view, I think it's worth it as it's really 1/3 bigger than the regular Queen & has a nice view of Mt. Royal. AC is cool & quiet & adjustable to different speed & temperature. Room is clean & bed is comfy. The only improvement is the shower head is a bit too water-saving so it takes a long time to clean your body & hair.
I had a great stay at the hotel. The staff were friendly and very accommodating. It's close to shopping and the metro. The rooms comfortable and kept clean by the staff. The only down side was the bathroom door was that frosted glass and could see a silhouette of my friend using the facilities. We had to put a blanket over the door for a bit more privacy .
I stayed at the Best Western Ville-Marie while in town to do a campus tour of McGill with my daughter. First and foremost the location is perfect. It is a 3 minute walk to the Welcome Centre at McGill. You are also close to many bars, restaurants and sight seeing. I found the staff at the front desk rather cold. I found that the initial check-in person did not exude any warmth, no offers to help make my stay more pleasant, very straight forward and to the point. Our room was on the 5th floor and was a good size and I have to say that the beds were comfy. The bathroom was a disappointment. The grout in the bathroom tiles was black and full of mildew. Also, when you ran water in the sink a very strong smell of vomit was noticeable making me think someone before us may have thrown up in the sink. We also were missing toiletries- shampoo and conditioner and had to call down to the front desk (twice) to have them brought up. There was a big construction project happening on the street below that created quite a bit of noise in the room, but that is not the hotel's fault. We flew into Montreal so did not have a car to park- I think doing so would be a bit of a pain as there really isn't a very big driveway to pull up to. Overall if you are most concerned with location and a comfy bed, than this hotel would fit the bill. Bathroom issues were the main reason my rating overall was a 3.
My friends and I were going to a music festival and looking for a place in Montreal. All the hotels downtown were booked. We were able to get one room in this hotel. It is centrally located and had great rates. There is a cool coffee shop downstairs, a good bakery and breakfast places to eat nearby. It's within walking distance to the shopping district and Mount Royal, a big destination in Montreal. We were able to walk to the shopping district and it's a short distance to the subway. During our stay, we asked for an extra cot and it was delivered immediately. I lost an e-reader and emailed the hotel to ask for help finding it. Rafik, the General Manager, helped me find it and mailed it to me almost immediately. It was a busy weekend and the staff handled all the services very well and in an orderly fashion. They were so professional and courteous. I am grateful that they help me find my e-reader. It was a great experience.
The hotel is in an ideal location, close to attractions, the Metro, St. Catherines and Old Montreal. The standard queen room was very small, but clean, except for hair in the tub and a dirty bathroom floor when we arrived, The bed was very comfortable and the thermostat was easy to adjust. The biggest problem was with the valet/concierge. The hotel claims to have a concierge, but the same person doubles as the valet and so is more often parking cars than offering concierge service. Even in these instances, he was unable to help with tours and had little knowledge of local attractions. If you expect concierge service here, you won't get it. The hotel needs to hire a real concierge or stop advertising that they have one.
This hotel is good. The room is big and clean. WiFi works well and the hotel is reasonably well situated. Good value for your money. Unfortunately, like most big hotels here in Montreal, it completely lacks character. Great for staying in Montreal for a few days.
Our family of 5 stayed here while I was on business. The proximity to the downtown core is excellent. We experienced no noise issues, and the room with 2 queen beds was a very suitable size. We had a roof-top carrier on our vehicle so the standard valet parking didn't work for us. I had to find above-ground parking elsewhere.
We stayed for 2 nights in the hotel. We had a great time. Hotel staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean, spacious and the bed was very comfortable. We had dinner at the restaurant and it was delicious. Great area. Everything is in walking distance (metro, downtown...etc) We can highly recommend this place.
Centrally located, comfy beds, nice big tub, large rooms. However, we were required to use valet parking for $25/day plus tips. We were not allowed to borrow the luggage cart and had to have a porter carry our luggage... more tips! It seems the going rate is $1 per bag no matter how small it is. Because we were traveling with our children, we probably had 15 small bags- On the last day we gave the porter $5, and he gave us quite a look! Also we were told that breakfast was included but when we tried eat breakfast we were told that it wasn't included. Will not be staying here again.
We rented the Grand Salon conference room for our engagement party. The staff at the Best Western Hotel Ville Marie where fantastic. Extremely polite and always willing to help. The food and service was top notch, and Mr. Zikry went out of his way to make us feel like family. We highly recommend renting there halls for your special occasions!
I stayed here while touring Canada, this was by far the best hotel that we stayed at. Hotel is very clean and well maintained. When I arrived back to the US I realized that I lost my glasses and apparently left them behind at this hotel. Mr. Zikry/Directeur Géneral / General Manager made arrangements to mail back my glasses. Great service!
The location is within walking distance to the metro or bus stops. There is a lot of shopping and restaurants right there. It was a great location. Right in the middle of it all. We were stopped for a parade trying to get back to the hotel at one point! I asked room service to deliver a bottle of wine at 9:45 and they said they couldn't because they were going to close. I thought that was pretty ridiculous considering how much they were going to overcharge me for it and it wasn't like I was asking for a steak to get grilled or something that might justify the reluctance. Hard to get a taxi from there too. If you want your care give the valet plenty of notice, not on city time there.
Just returned from a weekend stay celebrating a bachelor party. The staff were great to the group and were helpful with restaurants and the like. It was a bit hectic given the theme of the weekend and I wound up leaving my backpack in the room. I didn't realize it until I arrived home so I gave them a call. Without so much as a peep, they told me that it would be shipped back directly. And to top it off, they wouldn't accept my offer to pay for the shipping. Now that's service with a smile! Thanks to the team there!!
It's our 5th trip to Montreal to watch Rogers Cup tennis. Due to the Air Miles program to start expiring my points after 5 years of age, we booked our trip to use up our miles. Our choice for hotels was for the Best Western Ville Marie, for it's proximity downtown. Pros - Great location close to restuarants, shopping, 1 block from the Peel subway station to attend tennis matches. - Room was very comfortable and nicely decorated and furnished with a nice walk-in glass shower and kholer fixtures. - Room ventilation was top notch, as it was extremely quiet and efficient, and didn't keep us up at night with a noisy a/c fan like most hotels. Cons - noisy plumbing (water supply) system due to age of building, espeially the showers. - room doors were all in need of new closers, as the doors ALL SLAM shut with a loud bang that could be heard down the hall every time someone closes the door. - no cleaning service provided for 1 day out of 5. Complained and was given 2 breakfast vouchers in the restaurant. Breakfast buffet was just okay for a $40 a couple. Based on the prevailing room rates ($210 inc taxes) is a decent value downton, considering that I didn't actually pay for our 5 nights, but cost us a total of 6300 Air Miles + $135 fees & taxes, that was book in Dec/15.
My daughter and I stayed here for a visit to McGill. It is literally 1 block away. There is a breezeway that runs directly behind the hotel that puts you perfectly in front of McGill's Visitor Center! The rooms are beautiful. We had a suite and it was perfect for us. Complimentary breakfast in the restaurant downstairs was nothing luxurious but it was just right: scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, toast, cereal, fruit...served buffet style. The service was excellent! And, of course, Montreal is BEAUTIFUL! The hotel staff was very kind and accommodating. We asked for a late check out and were able to get it without fuss. The agent was Sophia (?), spoke Spanish and English and was very kind and knowledgable, as were the kind gentlemen working with them. Valets were also very kind. The only clunker was the later agent - a young lady, blond long hair, the one speaking Italian - who complained incessantly about the AirCon in front of the guests. Immature and unprofessional. Otherwise, our stay was terrific! I gave it 4 instead of 5 because it was pricey. If my child decided to attend McGill, we'd definitely choose a place close by that is not as expensive.
In town for the JFL Festival and this hotel was well situated. We would grab a cab to old Montreal for supper, walk to the theatre, then walk back to hotel after shows. The streets were safe and clean. Hotel staff very welcoming and attentive. Hotel room was clean, spacious (king), and beds were comfortable. Fridge was a nice bonus. Wifi was fast. Did not eat at hotel. Short walk up hill to Mont Royal. We also walked to Mile End - about 45 minutes.
This hotel is a short walk to the Metro subway and is surrounded by art galleries and shopping. We were in Montreal for the Rogers Cup Tennis and it was an easy ride to the tennis facility from this hotel. Very comfortable and affordable.
Stayed at this hotel from Friday July 22nd - Sunday July 24th. We were a group of four friends with two adjoining rooms. I am a selective traveler so was not sure what to expect. The hotel is immaculately clean and welcoming. Had a nice feel the minute I entered the lobby. Rooms are very spacious which was a bonus. Called front desk one night to inquire about room temperature and within seconds they volunteered to send someone up immediately. I left a couple articles of clothing behind and was put in touch with Rafik Zikray. He had located the articles and offered to send by courier. My needs were completely met with this hotel and I would stay there again without any hesitation. Location is perfect along with customer service.
The Sheraton was a nice hotel, nothing fancy, and a stone's throw from our scheduled college tour at McGill University. We stayed one night. Came in late after spending all day walking around. Put the A/C on and fell asleep. Awoke most of the night trying to get the A/C to work. I informed the front desk in the AM and they told me they were sorry to hear that and proceeded to tell me what I owed. Completely uncaring. Had a horrible night sleep in a stuffy room. Wouldn't recommend or go back. There's plenty of other hotels right around McGill University.
I been at this hotel . Excellent service. Nice people very good. Nice clean room . Very clean bathroom. Great breakfast. Gym . Bar .every thing was very good . Great location . Close to down town. I.luv it
This hotel is in a great location and the rooms are comfortable. Close to great restaurants and shopping. Nice large bathroom so our family of four was able to get ready for our day comfortably and easily. Close to subways.
The room was reasonably priced and at a great location. Walking distance to everything. Just north of St. Catherines street which has all the restaurants and shopping you want. Not far from old Montreal by walk if you're not in a hurry. Great city.
Beautiful facility and highly qualified attentive staff - if it were not for a lot of street construction surrounding the hotel and a lack of parking facilities in the area this would have been an excellent choice! The parking situation can be overcome by using Valet Parking
This hotel was located on the corner of Peel and Sherbrooke near everything in the downtown area. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The rooms were spacious, clean and elegantly decorated. They have a cafe and a restaurant on premise.
Hotel room had good price point. Staff was friendly and helpful, gave suggestions where to eat. Room was comfortable and clean but small. Nice location to many areas of the city. Easy walk to subway. Close to Park Mont Royal. Would stay here again.
This hotel is well-maintained with a staff that is extremely courteous and helpful. The mattresses are the best I've found in hotels around the world. It is centrally located in the city and a short walk to the Metro for travel throughout Montreal whether you are there for business or with family. This is, without a doubt, the place to stay in Montreal. I have stayed in several other places in the city but will not consider any other hotels on future trips to Montreal.
We loved the location of this hotel in Montreal. We walked the city for 2 days and were close to many wonderful attractions. The hotel is a good value for the location and the staff were wonderful in all respects. The hotel is comfortable and clean and welcoming.
Great location in Montreal. Very close to the metro, and McGill University. The staff are quiet knowledgeable about the local area. Good bars and restaurants are very close by, within easy walking distance.
Stayed here after a trip to lake placid NY to come see the sights and explore Montreal, Canada. The border was close, so we gave it a try. The hotel is situated in the center of city, but a few Blocks from Saint Catherine street where most of the shopping & entertainment are. Maybe a 3 minute walk at most. Personally we liked it that way, because you are still in the heart of the city but a few steps away from the hustle and bustle of that busy busy street. There are still very many restaurants and shops right by the hotel, and a metro station a block away. About a 20 minute walk to old Montreal, but a nice walk! 5 mins from the bell center and 3 mins from the basilica church. Rooms were spacious and very clean, we had a junior suite with a queen bed in the bedroom and a living area with a pull out couch. Beds were comfortable even for a pull out coach. My kids didn't complain and I felt it myself, no springs! Very comfortable. They supply you with a coffee maker, shampoo, soaps, mouthwash, and body lotion. Plenty of elevators we were on the 12th floor and no wait for an elevator at all. Front desk staff is great! On top of everything at all times! Restaurant right on the premises with a full service bar, newspaper machine & they serve breakfast lunch and dinner! Great stay!
Stayed here for four nights end of June / beginning of July. Staff on the front desk were very good and knowledgeable on the local area. There are many great bars and restaurants near by and I highly recommend using the Hop On Hop Off bus for touring the main sights throughout the city. The start of the bus tour is a short walk from the hotel. I also used the bar to have a drink and the staff were friendly and personable. I would definitely use this hotel again if and when I am ever back in Montreal. Thank you for a great stay.
Not a huge hotel by any means but the rooms were nice and well equipped. Very convenient to walk to the shopping areas and other sights and we found it a very pleasant place to stay. The only downside was the bar closed at 10pm regardless of the number of customers that were in there.
This is a beautiful hotel in Montreal. Although the rooms are small they are very clean. Beautiful lobby and restaurants. Danny and Tanya at the front desk were both so friendly and helpful. Very good location.
We took the bus from the airport and walked a number of blocks to the hotel, on a little incline with our luggage. The address numbers are deceiving. We thought we would have quite a hike in front of us but we were there quickly. We just didn't find it an easy walk. The hotel is large, someone on duty at all times (which is very important to me) and everyone speaks English very well and is very helpful. The room was spacious and absolutely clean. The bathroom was laid out very nicely, the hot water pressure was great, and housekeeping did a very good job every day. No complaints. I would definitely choose this hotel again. It's centrally located in the downtown area; close to the shopping areas and restaurants and metro.
We choose this hotel for the location. Our room was good size, we ordered 2 queen size beds. However, we were located right next to the elevator. It was the Montreal Jazz Festival week, we've been told the hotel were fully booked, that left us with no other option. I tried very hard to ignored the noise of the elevator, yet morning call was by the ice machine at 05:30am!
The hotel is very well placed, so you can easily go to the most interesting parts of town on foot. The staff is very friendly and you can always count on Mike to tell you whats worth seeing and to give you a helping hand with reservations. The rooms are clean, well mantained and have everything you need.
The room my wife and I had was on the small side, but very clean and the location is great. The service we received from staff and management was superb. I left my keys in a side table drawer and Mr. Rafik arranged to have them mailed back to me and they were in my mail box when I returned home. Much appreciated.
I stayed there with my family for two rooms in one night. The location is superb but valet parking is mandatory. Lobby is small, busy and crowded but the receptionists are very attentive and helpful. The room I stayed was old and aged. I found the smallest package of shampoo (22 ml. or 0.75 fl. oz.) ever in my life. This amount was just good for one single person usage and it didn't last till our next morning. Furthermore, I found the a/c electrical outlet, without any plastic cover to protect it from spilling water, just beneath the wash basin (as in the photos). I am sure I will NOT stay in this hotel again. It's too risky for me and all my family members.
Had a late check in during our overnight stay in Montreal and despite the lateness of the hour, the front desk girl was very cheerful and efficient. Customer service was also top rate via the website as queries were handled promptly. We got a double occupancy, queen beds which is spacious enough and the room was comfortable big for four people. Hotel is also centrally located for shopping with global brands stores within walking distance. Problem was encountered the following day when i asked about an extra breakfast coupon which i wanted to pre-pay so as not to create any complications with the settlement of the room charge which was booked online. Instead of understanding customer request, the front desk guy simply glared at me and insisted that any extra breakfast should be charged to the room. despite further explaination, the personnel just kept on saying that any extra coupon that he will issue will be as if he gave me a free coupon which i again reiterated that i will be willing to pay immediately. This encounter had dampen the nice and simple breakfast experience i had and the appreciation for the friendly and efficient service at the restaurant. Will still recommend to stay in the hotel and recommend that the industry mission in customer service and being flexible and understanding to guests' needs may be reiterated to on-site personnel.
Our group was treated like family -- from Mr. Rafik to the desk clerks to housekeeping staff. Thank you for your making me feel like I was at home. The staff was engaging and truly interested in making my visit (3 nights) memorable.
Beds very comfortable. Hotel very clean, rooms and bathrooms very clean but noise at night in the hallway kept us awake. Conversations in the hallway, elevator noise and ice machine noise kept us awake all night.
Enjoyed so much staying at the Best Western Ville-Marie. The hotel was updated, clean, had all of the amenities you would want and was located in a nice area with restaurants and shops close by. The restaurant at the hotel was very good and the staff were personable and ready to serve. The best way to park a car is via valet. You can drive up to the front door of the hotel and just get out. The front door is on the street, so finding your own parking might be a bit of a challenge, but the valet service was quick and reliable. All in all a great place to stay.
We just came back from a vacation in Montreal. we stayed at the Best Western Ville Marie. This Hotel Surpassed all my expectations. from the moment we arrived until the day we left. The rooms were comfortable and clean. The front desk were polite and courteous. the best part of our stay was the help we received from our concierge Mike and Abraham. They helped us with advice as to where to go and what sites to see. one tip I would give to anyone visiting Montreal is get a one day Metro pass at 10 dollars it is a deal. I would recommend this Hotel to anyone. We will be back. Plus it is in the heart of Montreal.
We were satisfied with our two day stay at the hotel. The room was comfortable and not cramped. However bathroom was a little cramped where the toilet and bathtub were, but we persevered. Request for hypoallergenic sheets and towels was denied due to unavailability unfortunately. Front desk staff were friendly and informative. Would stay again. Best Western Gold Crown Club member.
My friend and I spent a day in Montreal and used this hotel to crash for an evening. I was a bit worried when we arrived because there was a long lineup at the checkin counter. However the staff got everyone through quickly and efficiently, and got us on our way. The rooms were nice, clean, with very comfortable beds. This place is not fancy but it has all its bases covered. I would definitely return. My only minor criticism is that, when we arrived, there was no space on the street to park the car for the valet parking. So we had to drive around a bit to wait for some space.
Very tight rooms and bathrooms but couldn't beat the price and location. I recommend it if you are not going to spend alot of time in the room. Exercise facility is good considering the price. Cleaning staff were quick. Wish they offered bottled water at front desk.
This is my second stay at the Ville-Marie and they surpassed all expectations on each visit. Everyone is so Friendly and Helpful, from the front desk and waiters/waitress', in the cafe and coffee house, to the General Manager. Such a pleasant experience. When speaking with the employees, it was obvious they enjoyed working at this location and all spoke highly of Rafiq, the GM, and it showed in the way they treated us, as guests. It was more like visiting family than a hotel. The GM, Rafiq, helped us with several question and spoke to us often through out our visit, and treated us like family. Rooms were clean and very spacious, and cleaning teams were all very pleasant as well. On my next visit to Montreal, we will not need to shop around for a hotel, we found our home away from home. There is so much to do within very short walking distance of the hotel, from eating out, to 30KM of underground shopping. You don't need a car, once you get a basic understanding of the subway or bus system, but we traveled mainly by rail. You can get anywhere in the city in a very short period of time, by simply hopping on the subway, and it is a very short walk to a couple of access points from the hotel. If you want to check out The Harvard of Canada - McGill is just around the corner, as are a couple of other universities. If your stay keeps you over a weekend, there are both English and french speaking churches that are not too far, that we visited and recommend. La Chapelle au Théâtre Rialto (French) and Renaissance Church Montreal (English) in Little Burgundy. Would I recommend the Ville-Marie Best Western? Absolutely; and without a second thought. I am already looking forward to my next stay!
This hotel far exceeded my expectations, and I was expecting something very nice. From the moment we pulled up to the door I felt we were treated extremely well by all the staff we encountered. The room was large and comfortable, the bed afforded the best sleep I've had in a while! The bathroom was equally expansive (with the cleanest tub I've seen in a hotel in a long time!) There were four adults in the room with two queen beds and we never felt crowded.
I was traveling to Montreal with a school group. As a teacher, I was very pleased that we were put on a floor where we did not disturb any other guests and the rooms were neat and comfortable. The location of the hotel (right beside McGill University) was outstanding and really gave my students the feel of Montreal life. The staff was very accommodating and helped with a myriad of individual requests from my group. Two examples that stand out: One of my students left an iPad behind - it was located and returned within 48 hours. Another student took ill and we were given a very generous late check out to accommodate this situation. Overall, I was very pleased with our experience.
My husband, 2 friends and I stayed here June 25 for the weekend. Nice room...stayed on 18th floor. Front desk was very helpful. Only thing we weren't aware of before getting there was valet parking of $25/day was a must unless you want to try to find parking. We didn't eat at the hotel cafe but it looked very nice and the food looked good. Frosted glass bathroom door was alittle strange. Hotel is within walking distance of almost everything. I'd recommend this hotel.
The hotel itself is a decent two-star (or maybe three, at a stretch); adequate refurbished rooms, good location, friendly staff. Maybe my experience was an exception, but it's tough getting to sleep when boorish loudmouth slobs occupy the room across the hall and keep you awake from three to four a.m. Not, strictly speaking, the hotel's fault, but one wished, this time at least, it attracted a better class of clientele.
This Best Western hotel is in an older Montreal building with unique room plans - but the overall quality meets Best Western standards. Our room was really large and an unusual shape and layout, making for a fun, unique experience. Being close to Old Town was great, and we also were able to walk uphill through the University to Mont-Royal park's base. After reaching the base, there are several hundred steps that lead to the top of the mountain - great experience so close to the hotel. I recommend this hotel for anyone arriving by train and touring the city on foot.
This hotel is close to city centre and main shopping street with dozens of eating options nearby as well as in house. The rooms are clean and comfortable with plenty of storage for longer stays . Helpful staff make the stay even better . The in house restaurant is a Lebanese cuisine one and there is also a breakfast fast food one as well. I especially liked being able to buy good coffee in large mugs . Reception will store your luggage while you wait to check out too .
We have been using the Best Western Ville-Marie Hotel for the past three years whenever we need to hold training sessions for our sales force. The hotel is centrally located, the staff is friendly and efficient, the food is excellent and served hot and on time, the meeting and bed rooms are comfortable, internet is reliable and fast. Every effort is made to keep us comfortable and efficient. The General Manager, Mr. Rafik Zikry, is an especially great host who treats everyone as his own valued guest. Thanks! Claudette
The location of this hotel and the friendly front desk staff were highlights of this basic hotel. The room we had smelled of fresh paint, so the windows had to be kept open all the time to alleviate the smell. The beds were comfortable, the wireless was stable, and while not a lot of channels, the TV was fine. The floor needed a good cleaning and there was spilled paint near the closet (evidence of that paint job). It is a moderately priced hotel, and no more or no less what we expected.
We only stayed one night here on the seventh floor, the room was small but compact.Only complaint-no mirror other than the bathroom one.First time I have encountered the 'clean tv remote ',it's specifically designed to make it easy to clean and disinfect! Good idea! We had reason to ask reception about exchanging money and the guy was very helpful. We had a couple of drinks in the bar,but was surprised to find it closed at 10.00pm,maybe a Montreal thing. The hotel is ideally situated for shops, restaurants and bars etc.
This hotel is located in a good location (Rue Peel and Sherbrooke) that is close to local transportation and or walking to sites. Staff were very friendly and helpful in all matters. The downside is the small size and shapes of the various rooms and I thought these were over priced. Also the morning breakfast on the weekends was very limited for a Best western and staff were overwhelmed trying to keep up with restocki g and serving coffee. I would not return here as I think there are nicer hotels in Montreal for the location and price.
Located in the Ville Marie neighbourhood, this hotel is ideally located for someone who wants access to McGill, the rest of the downtown but doesn't want to pay as much as other hotels. Rooms are clean and comfortable, staff are excellent, and its one block from the Metro and tons of shopping and dining. I'll be back!
We recently held a fund raising brunch at this hotel. I must say that I was extremely happy with the service we received from the hotel manager and all the staff that we came in contact with. They were professional and friendly. The hotel restaurant where our event was held provided a nice and cozy atmosphere. You should consider this hotel for your next business or family parties/events. You will not be disappointed. We are definitely going to hold another event in the near future at this hotel.
CONS AC Leaking Parking issue Restaurant not enough staff for Breakfast Ice Machine very loud beside room PROS Close to downtown core Ideal for vacation (Comedy Festival, Jazz Festival) No need to drive as you are close to everything you need
The Best Western Ville Marie provided a great experience in downtown Montreal. As an ex Montrealer I knew where I wanted to stay but the hotel exceeded my expectations. The first room I entered smelled of smoke, I was moved without delay and efficiently to a new room. The staff were always accommodating, providing extra towels and other amenities when requested. The two concierges (Mike and Abraham) I dealt with were more than helpful, providing suggestions, making reservations and having an in depth knowledge of their city. I would definitely stay there again.
We just had a fundraising event at the Best Western Ville Marie Hotel with more than 80 people and the experience was excellent. All the employees were extremely helpful and welcoming. The general manager Mr Rafik, did everything to help us make the event a huge success. We held the event at the hotel restaurant called Zewadee, where the brunch was fantastic. The participants were very happy with the quality of the food and service. We will definetely hold more events at the Best Western Ville Marie Hotel.
I had an incredible experience at Best Western Ville-Marie! Everything rom the staff to the room was beyond my expectations. The room was quiet and served as a great office for the work I needed to do while in Montreal.
We loved the location at the edge of City Center, still in walking distance of museums, good restaurants and the tour bus. Skyscrapers on one side and residential neighborhood and Mont Royale park up the street. Rooms were clean and well maintained. Staff was friendly and offered helpful advice. No problem with language. Good coffee shop and bar where we enjoyed the best cocktails in town. We booked here because of the low price and we're pleased to say we got double our money's worth. Reasonably priced valet parking recommended. A very pleasant stay.
Great sized room and very comfortable. Was helped quickly for check in and able to leave my bags upon checking out. Great cafe attached to the lobby as well as an ATM on site. Quick elevators and just a short walk to the Peel station.
Very attentive staff, forgot my cell phone in the car and the valet brought it up to the room after he found out. Before I even knew it was missing. Was allowed to extend parking privilege by an hour due to the lateness of my son's graduation ceremony.
Large comfortable room with 2 Queen beds. Large bathroom, good shower, thick towels. Room: lots of space to spread out. Room was quiet with the exception of the room door to the hall, slammed shut every time. Deodorizer/air freshener in hall ways was a bit off putting. This is an older hotel, well maintained. Onsite parking for a fee. Attached coffee shop offered a good breakfast.
The hotel is well located right dontown Montreal. However on the contrary of what the website mentions, there is no parking; there is only valet parking at 25$ + tax per day. Our room was very confortable and well equiped with a safe, TV and fridge, but the door to the corridor was not insulated. We could hear the conversations in the corridor and even the elevator.
The Ville-Marie has a small entrance, lobby, access to elevators, and the smallest elevators I've ever seen in a modern hotel. The entrance and return of the biking group(s) staying there blocked those areas.
Large comfortable and clean bedrooms with all the usual amenities except a room fridge. Convenient location close to several bars and restaurants. There is a Mediterranean restaurant but we didn't try it. Friends who had breakfast complained about slow service. There is also a gym and a bar.
Great location, close to McGill & Concordia Universities. Five minute walk to Peel Metro Station and close to great restaurants, shopping areas and attractions. Accommodations are excellent, staff is very friendly. Large room and excellent WiFi service. Would highly recommend this hotel.
Had a total of 6 days of training that took place at this hotel with a number of people staying at the hotel and the rest local. The location is excellent for out of towners due to being right downtown and close to everything. It was ideal. The lunches we had during our sessions were outstanding and a wonderful surprise. Everyone was pleased.
Visiting my daughter in Montreal, staying here because it is close to the McGill University. Spacious room. We took room without breakfast. A lot of cafes around. Closest Metro station is Peel, about 5-10 minutes walk. Walking distance to malls in downtown Montreal.
There was no safe and no UK TV channel but apart from these, a very good hotel. The room was huge room and had 2 double beds, coffee machine and large well-appointed bathroom. Good bar. Good location.
This is a decent value hotel located at Peel and Sherbrooke. It's conveniently located by the Peel metro station, and all sorts of nearby shopping and dining options abound. Hotel staff were very friendly, courteous, and professional. Our room was on the 19th and penultimate floor. It was fairly basic, but well kept and maintained. I was disappointed that there is no in-room safebox. Yet what irked me most was that aside from the desk chair there was nowhere else to sit. A small table and modest barcalounger or club chair would've been nice.
I stayed at this hotel with a group, and we were all treated very well. The staff is very friendly and went out of their way to meet our needs. The breakfast provided with our room was first-rate, and the location is convenient in the center of Montreal for metro and bus travel. I will definitely stay here again next time I'm in Montreal!
I recommande BestWestern downtown Montreal. It has a good location, close to the most attractions in the city. The service was very good and the room was clean. I really have nothing negative to say about that hotel.
I wanted to be close to the Via rail station. The hotel was excellent. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was clean, comfortable and spacious. One of the best beds I have ever slept in. I The view was fantastic. Downtown Montreal.. Excellent shopping.
We enjoyed our stay in Montreal at the RVH Nurses Class of '66 50th Reunion. The staff was very friendly and the rooms clean and well-appointed. The special price for large groups was most appreciated. One small disappointment was that the bar closed early on Saturday night.
This is a nice hotel located near the base of Mont Royal. Steps to the top of Mont Royal are at the end of the street. The room was large. The neighborhood has a lot of shops and restaurants. Although the building is older, the property has been maintained well.
We stayed on the 16th floor and the room had a strong paint smell. There was a bunch of fresh paint signs on the 14th so I figure the smell came from there (ice is on that floor). Otherwise, regular room for the price. Very close to downtown though. If you want to save 3$ on valet parking, the hotel users the other hotel's valet across the street.
wonderful service from everyone. We spent the whole weekend there - it was our "hub' for our 50th year reunion of Royal Victoria Hospital nurses. It was the perfect location and I will recommend it to other reunion classes following us. We were 55 70+yr old proud nurses. I would go back there any time. perfect for the City centre. very helpful all the employees. Quick to respond and answer the phone when I called many times for queries as I organized this reunion. Polite and respectful, all of them.
So maybe it was my own fault. I booked a room here with points from a popular credit card. I was taking my kids to a concert. We drove up nonstop, 15 hours, so we were all dressed "comfy" when we arrived. Maybe we should have stopped and changed before we got there. We got the non friendly "vibes" from front desk right away. Was it because we paid with points? Maybe our attire? Who knows. I might not be fancy, but I'm kind. We had to ask for wifi code three times over two days. No biggie. The coffee pot was a disaster. I love my coffee!!!! We had to swap our room keys on day two because they stopped working. I paid for two extra people and we had to share towels. No biggie. I wouldn't stay again, but mostly because I don't like it when people make me feel small.
Very nice accommodations , located in close approximation to McGill University. and the business/commercial areas. Fine choice of restaurants nearby and a great walk to the "Old Montreal " area. Nice ambiance for lobby and restaurant, however, not impressed with the food selection menu. Would stay again
Situated in downtown Montreal, this is a good hotel, close to the vibrant Rue St. Catherine and restaurants, also very close to the Musee des Beaux- Arts. Clean room, good bed and clean white towels. Only inconvenience: fresh paint smell due to renovations on my floor. The valet service was impeccable: Mike and Ibrahim took care of my car and when we check out, the car was already in front of the building waiting for me. Thank you guys !
We now work and live in Beijing, but travel every year to see family in Montreal. Our home base when we return to Montreal is the Ville -Marie Best Western. The location is great, right on Sherbrooke street! Close to the YMCA, great shopping and great restaurants, the great night life at the doorstep...we are in the heart of Montreal! The coffee shop is fantastic, great espresso cafe, croissants, bagels & cream cheese, fresh fruit salad, all with the European flare of the international team. The staff at this hotel are wonderful...all multilingual from around the world; they go out of their way to be helpful and kind...big thank you to Mike (Concierge) for all of his help with so many details!
I work as a tour guide and stay in many different hotels all over the world. In this Best Western Hotel I have had the pleasure of staying many times. So I know what I am talking about. I have stayed in different rooms and all of them are great. You have enough room in the hotelroom. There is a small refrigerator. I fit underneath the shower (I am 1.83!!) and the beds are great. I slept like a baby. I know it does not matter what a room looks like, but I actually took pictures of the art hanging in my rooms! The paintings are really nice and it gives a modern but comfortable setting so you feel automatically at home in the room. The service in the hotel is above and beyond! No joke. From the concierge, the bellboys to the receptionist, they are all doing their utmost best to please you during your stay. There is a nice cafe with great food in the building (Love the food!!! Great wraps!!). And there is free wifi in the whole hotel. Location wise? It could not be any better! All you need is in walking distance. Really close to Tim Hortons, a supermarket nearby 5 blocks away, Peel Street has a lot of great restaurants and walking distance to the underground shopping mall. Walking to the historic part is no problem at all and you could also take public transportation. Do not hesitate. Book this hotel! And no, I am not getting paid by the hotel, I do not work for them and I have no interest in writing them a nice review for an award. I just think it is the truth and they deserve these nice words. Enjoy your stay!
I was one of the Royal Victoria Hospital 50th anniversary reunion attendees for the nursing graduation class of 1966. The hotel staff could not have been more helpful, pleasant and accommodating. Kudos especially to Mike and Abraham who with smiles and pleasant demeanor made our stay so comfortable. I even misplaced an article and the hotel staff (Manager Rafik) were quick to look after it and mail it to me.Thank you Best Western Ville Marie!
Hotel went out of their way to assist in providing for our 50 year nursing reunion. Hotel did an outstanding job. I heard nothing but compliments. Personally, I use a cane and have limited mobility. Staff made sure of my safety at all times. When in the café, I was told to sit and item was brought to me rather than having to stand. Thank you for a wonderful experinece
Twice in April 2016 I stayed at the Ville-Marie Hotel in downtown Montreal, once on my own and once with a tour group of 50+. Both times I gave top marks to this hotel for location, customer service, rooms, affordability, and food. My survey of others in the tour group yielded similar impressions. This is a great place to stay if you are visiting the city.
The hotel is very central. I've been there over the weekend with my friends. The hotel rooms are clean and the service is nice. Unfortunately I forgot my house keys in my hotel room but they mailed them back. That was so nice
Hotel situated almost adjacent to Mcgill Uni is just behind hotel. Located extremely centrally plenty of restaurants close by as well as shops of several descriptions. Helpful staff , clean rooms and a wide bath great for those of a bigger build. Rooms very quiet but our room had an interconnecting door and you could hear other guests through this door. An excellent location where nothing is too far away.
To get to the hotel from airport, we bought a 3 day travel card which only cost $18CAD, this allows you to travel on bus, and subways as much as you like! Take bus 747 and I think it was around the 4th bus stop, then walk upwards towards the mountain, it's around 5-10min walk, easy! We arrived quite early (11:30am), and wanted to leave our luggages there, but the receptionist checked that our room was available :) and kindly let us check in early with no extra charge! Consider check in time is at 3pm! We got room 1211, which have just finished refurbished, it's spacious with two double beds, view of Mount Royal, nice toilet amenities, has a cold fridge, safe, and ladies you'll be impressed by their tiny hair dryer which is very powerful! My only complain during my stay was I found a few strands of hair inside my towel. Then we wanted to take the spare duvet as it was cold but stopped as there were another few strands of hair on it which was very off putting. When you check in, they give you a code for Internet, great connection speed! Somehow next day the code didn't work, but calling them back they gave us a new one straight away! Service by the front desk staff are fab! But I would avoid the valet parking staff, as all they want to sell you it's the town tour bus. I didn't took the breakfast option, but there's this lovely cafe downstairs which does fantastic breakfast/brunch/food choices and their coffee are so thoughtful! They draw designs on every cup :) Location of this hotel is at "Peel" station, you have many shops and restaurants in the local area. Price is very reasonable comparing to other hotels nearby, we paid roughly $300 CAD including taxes for two nights via booking.com It was less on the website, but they add the tax after when you check out. If you're staying in Montreal, I would highly recommend to book this hotel.
Four busses of Au pairs all came to stay in Ville Marie! Service was excellent, even with nine people stuck in an elevator. Help was quick and efficient! Especially Colin Keith, who was very helpful with the night life, food ect and a lot of fun! ??????
The best part of this hotel was one particular staff member working in lobby: Manuel. He is the valet who greets guests on arrival and takes care of their car. I found him to be friendly, and he went out of his way to take care of me. I needed to park my car for a total of 30 minutes while I had a meeting with colleagues. The front desk staff wanted to charge me $25 for this 30 minutes of parking!! Manuel understood the situation and offered to take care of my car personally and free of charge. He simply did this out of helpfulness. The hotel itself was comfortable and clean and the location is great. The front desk staff are average in terms of helpfulness - they are not bad but they are not great either.
This was the perfect location for our conference at McGill. The double room was a great share room with comfortable beds and large bathroom. The coffee shop in the lobby was excellent with a very friendly staff and excellent food.
Smallish rooms (bed, desk, no soft chair), but overall very clean and nice. Very good location (near McGill, St Catherines, museums/galleries/shopping. Small fridge was a bit noisy, but better than no fridge. Windows a bit difficult to open, but at least they opened and our room had nice view of the mountain. Would definitely stay here again.
I had a great experience; everyone from the front desk employee to the person responsible for parking was friendly and willing to go out of their way to help (at any hours of the night!). The room was extremely clean and I appreciated the opportunity to sleep in until noon. The beds were particularly comfortable. The hotel features a nice coffee shop where you can hang out with your computer.
I highly recommend this hotel. Its in a convenient location, walking distance to pretty much all central areas, food, shopping, museums, churches, entertainment. The rooms are clean, staff is wonderful and extremely helpful. Look for Mike & Ibrahim at the bell hop/valet desk, they really went out of their way to assist.
Loved the room and the service but the restaurant / cafe was a terrible choice for breakfast. So stick with a cup of coffee and a pastry but skip the eggs, toast, bacon and home fries. It was awful cold over cooked and microwave bacon. The room was very comfortable and clean the service was excellent.
Room was reasonably priced considering the great location. Hotel parking is valet only and costs $25 per day. Parking anywhere else in downtown Montreal will cost you close to the same amount. Room was clean and quiet, with free internet, large screen TV, mini fridge. My stay here was comfortable and problem-free.
The Best Western Ville-Marie Hotel is Fantastic! 5 Stars! It is right downtown and everything is within walking distance from it. The room was perfect and cozy for 4 of us but big enough that we weren't tripping over each other either! and the décor was very modern and well kept. The beds and pillows were perfect not too hard and not too soft! From check in everyone was very helpful very attentive and helped us with every question. The Valet gave us good spots to eat and gave us a map to help us get around to the places we needed to visit. Free Wifi
Just a couple blocks off St. Catherine's street, with easy walking distances to lots of cultural opportunities as well as the university and shopping. Great place to relax...the rooms were excellent, large and the staff very fun and accommodating.
This was our second stay in a few months at this hotel. The entire staff, from management to housekeeping are very pleasant and ensure that your stay exceeds your expectations. There is a restaurant on site as well as a cafe.It is in the heart of the city with easy access to mass transit, taxis etc. The old city is a short distance away. Highly rated restaurants, bars and shopping are all within walking distance. Whether your visit is for business or pleasure, you will fully enjoy staying here.
The receptionist Emily was very rude. She put me in a worst room ever! On the 11th floor! She was very racist and jelous of me. She treated me very poorly. I yoko hee I wanted to pay for half a day because I had an appointment. She refused acting as if the eniter hotel was sold out on a Monday morning April 11th. She forced me to check out of my hotel room at 8am in the morning. Talking about someone already booked my room.
Good value for the money, great location. We have stayed here twice and would do so again. It is lose to McGill University, museums, and shopping. A good location in a very walk-able city. Service and staff are very good.
Good central location and within walking distance of downtown Parking by valet service worked well, Restaurant had limited menu as was just edible Did not use bar. Room was ok but one night it sounded like a water tap being openand shut every minute
From the moment we walked in, we felt like the staff was there to serve us and only us. Everyone was friendly, knowledgeable, happy to help and quick to respond to any need. The hotel is super clean and even though we encountered a couple of groups (a bachelor party, a family reunion, sports fans in town for a game), we didn't notice any noise. Valet parking is available and on duty 24 hours a day. They were very quick to get our car and bags when needed. There is a restaurant off the lobby, which if you get a chance to give it a try, you should. They seemed quiet and have a limited bar, but the service and food was great. We particularly loved the coffee shop. They have pastries and excellent coffee along with free wi-fi. The place filled up in the morning, but it was very enjoyable in the afternoon. I can't say enough about the front desk staff, without whom we would've been lost - literally. They knew the area very well and were very helpful with answering out questions about Montreal - the history, locations, customs, laws etc. All the while with a smile as if we had made their day for being there. There is no pool, but who has time anyway? The fitness center, however was one of the biggest we've ever seen. I never would've expected such quality from a Best Western. Everywhere we looked, it was above and beyond our expectations. Our room was super clean, spacious and comfortable! The location was excellent. Very safe neighborhood and within steps of the metro. Many restaurants and shopping to do all within walking distance. So glad we found this gem. We highly, highly recommend and look forward to going back.
We held a 5-day International Icing Course at the Best Western Ville Marie. We had participants from all over the world attending…Belgium, China, Canada, Denmark, France, India, Italy, Norway, Russia, Sweden, Turkey, U.K., and the USA. We had booked a number of hotel rooms which included Continental Breakfasts at an good rate. We had booked a classroom type Hall for the 5-day Course along with coffee breaks and lunches served every day on time; not only was the staff very accommodating, but the service was impeccable. We had many changes that needed to take place during the day and the staff was always accommodating. The meals were A1 - delicious and always fresh. The rooms were very nice and many of the guests commented on how comfortable the beds were. Highly recommend this Hotel for big events. Very well organized and ask for Rafik Zikry he was always accommodating and answered all of my numerous emails and phone calls and numerous last minute requests, also Rania who works with him was very efficient.
Have been here about twenty minutes now.... There's a dirty used condom right outside of our window along with about 40 cigarette butts, which is not nice to look at. I've called twice now for the desk to tell housekeeping to come please clean it and nothing. Then I want to shower and its full of someone else's hair. Terrific. Also you pay so much to stay here and then have to pay for parking here or elsewhere ..
Great hotel, close to McGill university. Could not figure out the air conditioning so did not get a great sleep as the setting was on low but the room was still uncomfortably warm for sleeping. Even went down to front desk at 1 am to ask how to get it cool but it did not work. Older hotel so hard to get the temp right.
Enjoyed the location, valet parking. Got two room, joining which wa very nice for family. Clean, good beds. A bit too hot as air not turned on yet.the window was open which helped. It was not noisy in area .
Stayed with a group in April. Had a great time at this hotel. Can't beat the location. Rooms are clean and newly renovated. Front desk and valet staff go out of their way to help. Would definelty recommend this place.
Had a wonderful time staying at this hotel. One the best night sleep that I've had in a longtime! Amazing mattresses, I wish i could have bought it. Then in the morning I had the most delicious waffle. Can't wait to go back. Super friendly staff.
This hotel provides great value. The hotel is an older building but the rooms are recently renovated and clean. Bed was very comfortable. Flat screen TV with GOLF channel (important for me). Wifi Internet was not an issue. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Air was a little dry in the winter, so bring up a bottled water for the night but not a big issue.
We stayed at the Best Western on Peel St. at the end of February, right after a bad storm. We walked from the train station at Centreville, and the sidewalks were not cleaned off; we were so glad to get to the hotel. It is not a big hotel. The cafe is great; nice pastries, sandwiches and soup all reasonably priced. The junior suite was huge and very comfortable. However, the bathroom door is only one-half inch thick with glass panels. When someone is in there with the light on, you can see and here everything. Worse yet, the bathroom is right next to the bathroom in the other room. When the water is running, the air in the pipes make it sound like someone is using a jackhammer on the floor. Really annoying. My only complaint. FYI; there is no pool.
Stayed one night. Warme welcome and quick check-in. Room was spacious and very clean. Free wifi which worked well. Breakfast was acceptable. Check out hassle free. Close to University of McGill, shopping, resturants, bars and entertainment.
I brought a group of 35 school students to the Ville Marie over Quebec's March Break and was pleasantly suprised by how accommodating and friendly the staff were. Not to mention, it was a fantastic price!
The people working here were really friendly and provided wonderful service. However, we were situated right beside the elevator and across from the ice machine. It was incredibly loud most of the night. I would definitely recommend asking for a room that isn't near the elevator.
My daughter and I have been coming to this hotel every few months for several years on the night before we need to go to hospital for doctors appointments and treatment. The Valet folks and the front desk personnel have not changed. They welcome us as family and go out of their way to make us feel comfortable. The hotel is a good central location in Montreal, close to downtown, transit, museums. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend a stay.
Had a wonderful stay here right in the heart of downtown Montreal, just a building away from McGill University's Downtown Campus. We were minutes away from St-Catherine's Street and a short walk from the metro station. While the decor is a bit run down (the bathroom for example could use a touch-up painting), our room was spacious with two queen beds and a midsized bathroom. The staff here were very helpful when giving recommendations for restaurants or directions around the city, and were able to help us track down a few tickets for a Habs game while we were in town. Definitely would stay here again!
We stayed here for two nights in February, the location was great, very close to the city and easy to get around. Staff were also good, very helpful, friendly and it felt good checking in here. The rooms were clean, tidy and well appointed and up to the standard I would expect for this style and price of hotel. The only issue we had was that our SUV was too high (Chevy Tahoe) wouldn't fit into their parking, so I had to park up the street. It was an inconvenience at first, but I ended up saving a few dollars on parking, so all good in the end. I would recommend this hotel and consider staying here again if I was in Montreal. It was very good value for money.
We stayed overnight here after watching an afternoon hockey game - perfect location: close to the Centre Bell, and downtown itself. The rooms are fine for a downtown hotel priced this reasonably -comfortable and clean with a decent sized bathroom and closets. There is a choice of two restaurants in the lobby - breakfast was very good and, again, reasonably priced for being downtown. The staff was very accomodating and friendly and it was nice to have valet parking - one less thing to think about...
Room was small but had everything we needed and was very comfortable. The location is great if you have a child at McGill. The coffee shop off the lobby had great coffee! Loved the valet service too. It is a very busy area so it's great to pull your vehicle up to the door, have help from the valet to get your bags inside and then check in.
Excelent in reservations, welcome and stay, unfortunately even if I payed all my stay from my reservation, the front desk man asked for a credit card. I don't like to open a voucher in any place, I better like to pay everything separated. Anyway I accepted to give my credit card "just in case". At the end of my stay, the woman from the front desk told me everything was payed. So I left and returned to Mexico. Later in my credit card account appeared a 100CAN charge from the hotel, and in a date a week later I left Canada. I asked the hotel though email about this charge and the accountant replied me that "I gave my permission to this charge" but they will cancel it next week. It never happened. So p,ease don't give your credit card to this hotel, most of all if you already paid your whole stay.
Everybody was very helpful so service was excellent. Location is very good as you are close to McGill and close to the downtown core. Everything is walking distance. I left the car in parking and did not use it all week. Coffee shop and restaurant are both very good as well. Rooms are okay but a little ageing. For the budget it was a very good choice. I would stay again - for sure.
The stay was very good, Peter from the front desk is was extremely helpful in making the reservation and ensuring the stay was perfect. Great location. Good mature customer base. I don't recommend the restaurant downstairs because it is expensive.
For a location near shopping and restaurants in downtown Montreal, this is an excellent hotel choice in a nice area. There is a coffee shop which is helpful instead of ordering through the restaurant.
If you are looking for a downtown location with stunning newly renovated suites and amazing service, look no further than the Best Western at 3407 Peel Street in Montreal PQ. Garo (night Auditor) was amazingly helpful in finding travel times and giving guidance on the best sites to see in Montreal. Mike (concierge) didn't blink an eye with requests on holding my over night bags or ordering the friendliest cab service in the city. With its downtown location, you are minutes away from the best shopping, entertainment, and sights that Montreal has to offer. 2 thumbs up!!
I stayed at this motel for 4 nights in Sept 2015. It's an older hotel but well maintained and very clean. My room was a good size and had a little coffee maker, which is always a bonus as far as I'm concerned, although they could supply more milk (or creamer or whatever it is in those teeny little foil containers). It is right in the heart of the city, so really easy to get around and explore.
Great time at our Annuel Christmas banquet, The food was excellent and delicious. Rooms were spacious and very clean. Great staff, very pleasant and ready to serve. this is our 3 Annual Banquet, we appreciate the way the Hotel and its staff accommodate us for what we like to have.
Convenient location and reasonable rates. We stay here in November and at New Year's. Unfortunately, the city had a water main break right outside the doors of this hotel. The staff did a good job of working around this issue. We find people working friendly and efficient. Not the most glamorous place, but it is comfortable, affordable and in a good location.
The place is clean, the staff were quick and pleasant and the room was nice. My only complaint was the mini-fridge was making loud noises but we just unplugged it. The temperature was perfect and controllable and they include most of the necessities (except slippers). There's a hair dryer, shampoo, soap, etc.
We were here for the Christmas weekend. Upon arriving we were greeted in a most cordial manner by concierge Mike, who was informative and extremely helpful in getting our car parked and providing excellent tips on the subway, restaurants and venues. Front desk staff also personable cudos to Danny and Tanya for excellent service. The room was compact but well appointed and pristine. The walk in shower was quite nice, water pressure good and fluffy generous towels. The bed was fluffy and comfortable. Thank you to valet Brahim for taking the extra trip to our parked car to retrieve skates. Only complaint would be the room temperature being too warm but I am sure had I called to have it fixed it would have been handled efficiently. This hotel has a good location aprox half block to subway and 1 block from St. Catherine street shopping etc. We would definitely stay again on a return visit.
Stayed here in October 2015 as part of the organised tour. Don't know about the price as it's paid by the tour company. Location is good – in the heart of the city. Service is ok. Room is nice and clean. No complaint. Overall it's not an outstanding hotel but I think it's quite acceptable. I got what I want – convenience, cleanliness and comfort.
A very central hotel. Located about 10 minutes walk from the train station and roughly 15 minutes from Mount Royal. Tonnes of food and drink options in the surrounding area. Standard rooms with plenty of space. Mostly quiet except for the lady bashing on our door at 4am asking us to let her in.
Very rude blonde lady at the front desk. Running water for the faucets, toilet and shower were not working. We were not compensated for that, and were given several excuses until they finally had to admit that they didn't know when the water would be running again. Rooms were over heated, and the thermostat was not working. Windows also had stoppers so they did not open, hence there was no way of getting fresh air.
Clean and well run. Close to Ste Catherine shopping, and walkable to Old Montreal. Room was very large, clean and comfortable. Good value for the location and room size. Would stay again. Restaurant wasn't open while we were there - over Christmas.
We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights. The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance to the downtown area as well as McGill university. The hotel is a tall building and offers some nice views from the top floors. The room was very big and spacious but as clearly seen better days. Water was running through the toilet all the time. We asked maintenance to fix this several times but after every attempt to fix the problem and the claim that it had been repaired nothing had changed. Also the wallpaper was peeling of the wall at several places. However, apart from this the room was very clean and we felt comfortable staying in the hotel and the room. The staff, and the receptionists in particular, were we unfriendly and did not make as feel welcome at all. When we asked for a restaurant they recommended on very small restaurant while the best restaurants were in the opposite direction as we found out the next day. Would be stay here again? Maybe! But the service was really all but good and we would therefore look for alternatives first.
This was a nice hotel, reasonable priced, however, they did not honor our diamond membership for a room upgrade. In addition, I thought the service was poor. I would not stay here again. Service: I thought the staff service was poor. The check in process was hectic and the staff member who checked us in was quite rude. In addition they did not honor the BW diamond member room upgrade (which was one of the reasons I booked this hotel) - quite disappointing, however, I got over this. The staff attitudes were still unacceptable. Location: Good location close to Mont Royal, public transport, main hub of city. Room: nice clean room, clean bathroom. Room was quite bright and nice. Overall, I would not stay here again.
Best Western Hotels always provide free breakfast and free parking for customers, but this one did not.Besides no welcome gifts for elite members,I felt disappointed. However, the room is spacious and clean.
We had a room on the 16th floor, though it did not have an exceptional view, the room was spacious and well equip. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom clean and equally spacious. Our interaction with the staff was always very good, whether finding late night eats, getting a taxi or requesting new keys.
My trip was about business but once I arrived I remembered staying in a different, nearby hotel about 5 years ago for a vacation. I paid a lot more for the other hotel last time. The BW had what I needed; very clean room, comfortable bed, good location near some meetings and walking distance to the subway to get to others. The hotel restaurant had good breakfasts for reasonable prices. There is a coffee shop and bar for other times. You will also be walking distance to a variety of other restaurant options. The only parking is valet but the rate is comparable to other downtown parking so acceptable and you don't have to drive around looking for a spot. All the staff were friendly, helpful and responsive. To my knowledge, there isn't a hotel shuttle from the airport that will drop you at the door, but a $10 ride on the 747 bus drops you about 4 blocks south, an easy walk depending upon the amount of luggage (I travel light). Cab ride is about $50 with tip.
We stayed at the Ville Marie with a corporate group of approximately 20 people over the weekend and made use of the beautiful Salon Ville Marie Conference room, and the hotel catering. Everything was just great. Excellent service, resources (the meeting room, great wifi, room amenities etc.), the catering was the best we've had in a hotel, and the staff were so kind, helpful and flexible during our stay. We will definitely return to the Ville Marie for our next event in Montreal. Thanks to the staff for a wonderful stay!
Old, worn, sad hotel which is not worth the money!! So many things wrong!! A/C not working but instead seemed to humidify the room, although hallways are cool – maintenance claimed they fixed it – Not! Couldn't sleep due to this. Tried opening window but Can only open window a 2 inch crack due to a safety stopper they have. Rediculous!! Tried to close drapes and they fell to the floor!! Then saw that to block light, is a blind on a roller. It went down but would not go back up. Room seemed clean but older furnishings and rough around the edges... Shower pressure good, but one of the towels was thin & worn, and should have been replaced a long time ago. Also found a big glob of maid hair on the 2nd towel - Gross! Wanted to fill my water bottle in fitness center – but they close it at 9pm or 10pm – weird. Girl @ front desk suggested I fill it with my bathroom tap water. Just a sad place to stay! I checked out early and went to better hotel. NOT recommended!!
I had a quick trip to Montreal and when looking for a hotel the Ville Marie Best Western showed up. I know the area and remember the property before it was. Best Western so tried it for my one night stay. For Montreal this is a great location right on Sherbrooke near McGill University, shopping and many restaurants. The hotel must have been renovated. Nice lobby, and I was very happy with my room. Nice decor, comfortable and had a decent exercise room on the third floor. I stayed one night and plan to go back there next time I am in Montreal!
Well located on main street, walking distance to main VIA railway station and Peel Metro. Minutes from St. Catherine St. and McGill University. Easy and quick reservation, fast checkin, clean large size rooms, quiet hotel, had a good sleep comfortable bed. Good TV service. Bathroom clean with good amenities. Liked the TV remote (sanitized). Good touch. Nice cafe for breakfast and all day dining. Cafe servers were very friendly gave me good directions to where I wanted to go. Front desk clerk were good and night clerk was helpful with directions to Hotel. Quick easy checkout. Suggestion: A printed map of area would help a great deal for out of towners. The room rate was reasonable and what I would have expected from a similar class hotel. The main sign light on top of hotel was partly burnt out so it was hard to spot from street. The cab driver we had hired was the best, he understood the urgency of our situation and he drove well. Memorable city Montreal. I will return. Has valet service which was useful.
Stayed for one night at this hotel while on a business trip to Montreal Location is perfect right under the hill from McGill. location can't be more downtown the room is nice and spacious and bathroom is clean. the staff are also very pleasant and helped me with my luggage without being asked. definitely will stay again
Awesome location, good tv, comfortable, center of it all, noisy for picky people. I loved being in the midst of it all. Very convenient to downtown and amazing shopping in Montreal Underground. Amazing coffee in downstairs coffee shop. Good ambiance. Nice place to work. Cozy in winter to look at what is going on outside in blistery cold. People working were nice. Great experience family staying with me loved it as well.
This hotel is well located. There are a lot of restaurants nearby as well as good shopping. It is an older hotel with small elevators. Be aware that they only have valet parking which cost $25.00 a day. If you are not from Quebec, you should review the road signs for this province as we had a ticket for $168.00 for turning left at a green light with no "no left turn" sign. They only had a sign with a straight arrow with a green circle which said except buses - the officer told us that it meant we were obliged to go straight except buses.
We found the hotel excellent. Our room was large and very clean. The staff was very polite and helpful. We were able to park our car for the whole time and with the help of the valette' found all of the sites we wanted to visit. I definitely recommend this hotel.
The hotel is really well located. Real close to the McGill University and Peel metro station. The room was comfortable and the bathroom looked pretty clean. Parking lot is available but there's another one cheaper a few steps away.
The hotel is centrally located, close to all amenties. Close to Mont Royal, which is a must visit location. The view from my room was great and the beds very comfortable. Great place for both leisure and business traveler - gym, business centre, free Wifi restaurant and coffee shop on site. Very friendly and helpful staff. Was there for an event and the meeting space, food and service were excellent. Many thanks to Yves for looking after us during our meeting. I would definitely recommend and stay at the property.
Review of Best Western Ville Marie - Montreal Stayed at this hotel in Montreal in early November 2015. Stayed here as it was close to the Bell Centre. Was going to go watch a Habs game and wanted easy access. Arrival at hotel was very good from taxi. Greeted well by the Valet guy Check in was amazing, Greeted by first name by the guy at front desk. Well greeted and welcomed. Don't get why this hotel is underrated, everything was perfect, they have a basement with bathrooms and vending machines. My room was on the 16th floor. Very big and i had a view of Mt Royal. Very nice. Great location in down town Montreal . Walking distance to all the shops & restaurants.Very nice , friendly helpful reception. It was a perfect downtown location - just a couple of blocks from Parc Mont Royal, one block from the Rue Peel Metro station, and walking distance to downtown shopping, the Musee de Beaux Arts, and restaurants/bars around the neighborhood centered around Rue Crescent bordered by Rue Sainte-Catherine and Blvd de Maisonneuve. Overall I recommend this hotel for anyone. As location is great. Good for solo people. couples, seniors and families. I would stay here again and give this place 5 stars.
The hotel is centrally located and close to everything in the heart of the downtown core. A short walk to the Metro and Ste. Catherine St and close to McGill. Clean, spacious room, friendly, helpful staff, and valet parking made our stay enjoyable. The concierge even was able to get us tickets to the Habs/Sens game at the last moment. Great location and value.
We stayed at this hotel while on a tour. The hotel is in a good position to have easy access to many restaurants and shops. There is also a nice park not far from the hotel. We found hotel staff to be friendly and helpful. Beds were comfortable and rooms were clean and of a good size.
Older property but well kept with large rooms. Location is excellent -- close to McGill U, Concordia U and downtown. Close to great restaurants and shopping on St. Catherine St. Watch the parking, though. Valet parking is $25, but it is only good until 1PM the next day. If you overstay, even by a few minutes, they add $15. Many people may want to stay and shop/tour after check-out but be prepared for the extra charge. We weren't told so found out the hard way. Front desk wouldn't budge on charge even though we only overstayed by 45 mins and we had already arranged late checkout. Left a bad taste after an otherwise good stay.
Good clean comfortable hotel. We were on the upper floors that only one elevator serviced. The only down side was one day we couldn't get that one elevator, someone must have been holding it so we used the one for the lower floors and walked up one more floor. Found the staff pleasant. This location really worked for our sightseeing. Used the cafe attached a couple of mornings and it was very good.
Had a great experience. Kosta from the front desk was the greatest and really helped me out. I was in Montreal by myself to get laser eye surgery because the laser in Halifax was broken. He allowed me to loiter around until a room was ready for me and let me go up as soon as it was ready. He helped me with directions and arranging a taxi ahead of time. The room was great. Didn't try the restaurant so I can't comment on that
The location is near McGill, museums. The staff was knowledgeable, helpful. Not much personality or charm. I wanted to extend a day but no room was available. Our F150 truck wouldn't fit in their garage but there was another garage across the street that was OK. The cafe was an easy place to set, work and have nice coffee and a pastry.
I stayed at this hotel with my wife and toddler during a visit to McGill. I chose it because it was a block away from the Faculty of Law and walking distance to a METRO station. I was not expecting to be so impressed by great front desk staff, a wonderful bed, tranquil sleep and a hello from Rafik, the Manage of the hotel. Even more impressive, when after departing from the hotel, we got involved in a minor car accident and returned for an unplanned extra night at the hotel, he upgraded us to a much better suite and offer every possible type of assistance. This hotel is nicely located, but the front desk staff and one of the nicest hotel managers in Montreal make this hotel one to return to again and again.
Well located at the Montreal center, close to McGill university and city center. Room is clean and comfortable. Has parking that works well. Café attached to the hotel is a good option for breakfast or tea.
It didn't start well, taking 10 minutes per person to check in our group. The room was OK, but the wifi code I was given didn't work. Eventually they gave me another code. Then the bar closed at 10pm and no drinks were available after then. I wanted some water but the lobby shop was closed and was sent to the vending machines in the basement - all of which were out of order - I would have thought reception would know that! In fact I never saw the lobby shop open during our stay! Breakfast was good, but had to share a table. The coffee making machine in the room produced the most foul coffee I have ever tasted. I think I'll avoid Best Western hotels in the future.
I led a cycling group of 10 that travelled from Ottawa to Montreal by bicycle and overnighted at BW Ville Marie. Service was excellent from all staff members. Tania (originally from Mexico City) was really welcoming and impressed us with her many languages. The other lady who served bar on the Friday night (don't recall name) was also very nice to a loud boisterous group of cyclists. The rooms were a very nice size and very clean. I had stayed at a much more expensive hotel the previous week in Montreal on business. Comparing the two hotels I preferred the larger rooms at the BW and also found it to be a much better value proposition. The location of the hotel on Montreal's 'golden mile' beside McGill University and only a 5 minute walk to St. Catherine Street couldn't be beat. It was also only about 300 meters from a Metro stop. We will be back in 2016 with an even larger group of cyclists.
This Best Western certainly lived up to our expectations & more. Staff, particularly concierge staff, (Mike, Abraham & Manuel) were very friendly & helpful. The only negative was that after being out most of the day, on 2 of the 4 nights we stayed there, our room had not been touched by cleaning staff. I understand that rooms being vacated need to be cleaned first but on these occasions our room had not been refreshed until after 4pm. & one of those days we wanted to rest, so got cleaner to just give us fresh towels & cups. It did make it difficult to rest in the afternoon. Location was perfect for getting around.
We had a room with two double beds. The room was large with a seating area and very large bathroom. It's always nice to have room to spread out and relax in. The Ville-Marie is close to the St. Joseph Oratory as well as other historic churches, and museums. The Montreal Musee des Beaux-Arts is within walking distance. Two things to be aware of: 1. No free breakfast (as is common in the more upscale BWs), and 2. Only valet parking at $25 per day (CAD). It's best to enter Rue Peel from Sherbrooke for easy access to the valet spot.
It is the last but one night of our tour by coach of Eastern Canada. Montreal is today. Our hotel The Ville Marie is very imposing on entry to the reception. Ultra efficient staff, And very nice room. Had room 1005 on the tenth floor, no matter the lift is fast. Broadband is very good. and like all North American rooms it was enormous. Went down to get a drink in the bar of the hotel.I felt that I had interrupted the woman serving in the bar from something she would rather be doing. Her English was not good, so a laugh and a joke was out of the question. After one drink we decided to find somewhere else The hotel itself was busy but not in a chaotic way. every thing was just so. no problems with getting extra milk for our tea, it came up straight away after telephoning. Did not eat in the restaurant as we were trying to conserve our fast dwindling funds so went for a walk around the immediate area which is the centre for all the universities of Montreal. There are thousands of young people here, and the style and class of the eating places reflect this. I liked Montreal very much, the French flavour is not so in your face as it is in Quebec.
I had stayed one night back in may. I was happy with the services. I have no complaints. front desk was helpful. room service breakfast was ok, a bit overpriced.. definitely a great value and location of town.. its 25$ a night parking ....
Good value for area, inexpensive by costs of other activities in area. Easy access when using valet and porter. May cost a few bucks more, but worth every cent. Spent two nights here, enjoyed exploring downtown, a lot of street work you had to navigate. Rue Peel a mess, but able to negotiate. Service friendly and efficient. Rooms very comfortable and roomy. Would be my first choice if we were to return.
We walked in and thought, wow-this is a much nicer lobby and much larger, than we expected. The front desk was very efficient, yet friendly. They recognized our hotel club membership and made appropriate arrangements. Our room was fine the first night (deluxe king - quite spacious) but the next morning and all day long we heard strange moans and noises coming from the room next door - well not that strange, but not welcome either. We notified the front desk and they gave us another room on a different floor. Very accommodating. This room was fine, and even a bit larger maybe. The hotel is well located for visiting either McGill (which we were) of Concordia. It is quite centrally located and reasonably priced. Rooms are decently appointed - better than, say, a Holiday Inn Express - which we are usually quite happy with. Not quite the Holiday Inn Select in China Town, but not as pricey either. Plenty of great restaurants and the museums are a block or two away! They only gave us $1.10 US to the dollar Canadian. I would have thought a bit better exchange rate for their customers.
This Best Western is in the area of Montreal called the "Golden Mile". Located close to museums and the visitor info center and the Grayline Sightseeing tours in Dorchester Square and two blocks from Rue Catherine. It was very comfortable and the staff was welcoming. Mike, the concierge, was very helpful when we arrived. The room was very nice even though it was small (center city hotel rooms have smaller spaces). Very clean and the wifi adequate. The Mediterranean restaurant connected to the hotel was also excellent. I would definitely stay there again.
This is the perfect place to stay in Quebec. The rooms are big and beautifully appointed and extremely clean. As are the bathrooms. Very comfortable bed. Location is excellent and the staff are very nice. Breakfast is very good and the cafe at the front is also very good. We totally enjoyed are stay here and highly recommend it.
Six of us spent 3 days here after disembarking from a Boston to Montreal cruise. The hotel location was perfect for us. It was close to Station Peel (we purchased 3 day Metro tourist passes), nice restaurants, Dorchester Square Tours, and the Underground City. The hotel staff were extremely helpful recommending restaurants, giving directions, assisting with a health issue (directing us to a medical clinic), and helping with transportation.
The hotel is non-smoking but the room room was smelling bad. We were offered to change room. Staff at the reception was not friendly. The only person that provided good service is the valet. Attending coffee shop is good. Location is good for shopping.
Stayed for a night before dropping a relative at the airport. Hotel is conveniently located. Parking is Valet only and costs $25 a night. It can take 10 minutes for your car to be brought around. Room was average, smelled as if a smoker had been in there and the hotel had liberally dosed it with cleaning products. Rooms are very noisy due to the traffic outside. Desk staff were super friendly and helpful. Cafe downstairs did not take credit cards, debit cards or foreign cards. The female bartender in the hotel bar was incredibly rude and unpleasant.
As we walked into the lobby of this hotel, Best Western Ville-Marie Hotel & Suites, we were surprised at the décor. We felt as if we had walked into a more expensive hotel. The front desk staff were all professionally dressed, and proficient in both English and French . They treated us respectfully both upon arrival and departure, and were very helpful. The room was nice, good sized, tastefully decorated, clean, and as to be expected everything worked properly. This trip here we only spent one night in Montreal, but in the future when we go back this hotel will certainly be at the top of our list..
Conveniently located to rue Saint Catherine...the main shopping precinct and 30 mins to Vieux Montreal/Basilica Notre Dame it is a spacious, relaxing hotel. No need to pay more...has everything at its doorstep! The Parc Royale with stunning views is also just 10 mins walk...
This is high three stars really but a few glitches meant it couldn't make a 4. We stayed at this hotel for one night on a short trip from Lake Placid. We found the hotel with ease although be warned that there are currently (as of August 2015) roadwork diversions just around Rue Peel and so you may get a little lost en route there. If you have driven, take advantage of the valet parking. The receptionist was a little brusque, not exactly welcoming and they could not find the booking at first as it had been reserved by the hotel in my boyfriend's name and not mine (even though I had booked and paid for it!). Our room was on the 19th floor with a view of an office block but it was very quiet as we were so high up. The room was big with a seating area, a fridge, coffee machine and bathroom with bath and shower (and some slightly dodgy-looking electrics connecting the hairdryer). There was no milk provided with the fridge and so I went about a 10 minute mission via reception, housekeeping and the restaurant to get some sent up. In the end the receptionist went to the restaurant to tell them what we required himself as I kept on getting cut off via phone. There was only one sachet of fresh coffee for the filter which made quite weak coffee for 2. There were only 4 other tea bags or sachets of decaf coffee which is not the most vast selection. There was nothing provided in the fridge although we bought some water at the hotel shop/souvenir shop. We did try out the hotel bar which is attached to the Lebanese restaurant; there was a beer spillage incident which wasn't ideal although the drinks were courtesy of the waiter as a result! The bar surprisingly did not have any Molson Canadian beer which was a shame. It wasn't exactly buzzing with people and in fact when we tried to go back there at about 10.30pm that night, it was closed. The hotel is a little dated and there are signs of wear and tear but the bed was very comfortable and the room was clean. We didn't have breakfast as it was not included and so I cannot comment on that.
We had a huge room on the side of the hotel. Lovely big bathroom and beds were wonderful, probably one of the best hotel beds we've slept in. Lots of good restaurants, bars, shops within a few blocks. Only downside was it was a bit noisy with street traffic and police/ ambulance sirens but that has to be expected in a large city.
We were so pleased with the helpful information we received. We arrived from California & knew nothing. We were helped in every way. He spoke several languages, clearly, gave clear driving instructions. Helped us with hotel reservations. ??????
On a recent stay in Montreal we chose the Ville-Marie Hotel and Suites. This hotel offers excellent accommodations for the price point. We stayed in a spacious room with a King SIze bed. It was honestly THE MOST COMFORTABLE bed we have slept in...even better than our bed at home. THis will now be our "go to" hotel whenever we are in Montreal.
This fabulous hotel is spacious, comfortable & in a great location close to all this modern city has to offer. Their attention to detail in the foyer, rooms & restaurant was most pleasing & made our stay in Montreal special. It's good value & both Danny & Tanya at reception gave excellent service.
Villa Maria Hotel - Montreal We stayed here in September for one night whilst on a coach tour. The hotel is located a short walk from the city centre. The receptionist was friendly and very helpful. Our room was large and well cleaned. It contained two double beds with a table and two armchairs. There was a double wardrobe, and seven large drawers and 4 bright lights. Also a long desk and coffee machine as well as good sized fridge, but strangely no desk chair. The mattresses were lovely, soft and comfortable as was the pillow. Bedding was adequate. The A/C worked well and the window opened. Free wifi in room. There was no smells, the lights were bright enough but there was some noise from traffic in the front rooms. There was large bathroom with a bench that ran the full length. There was a full range of toiletries and the towels were thick. The water was warm but force only average. The lobby is small with limited seating. There is a restaurant available but we didn't use. A small coffee shop attached to hotel had good latte.
My family and I booked two rooms at the Best Western. Though we could not get a room next to each other which would have been a point of dissatisfaction, it was their concierge/valet staff in particular Mike, who basically turned it around. As a first time visitor to Montreal, Mike was very thoughtful and wise to suggest a city tour package that was very comprehensive in my estimation. I was traveling with elderly parents and a couple of active children and his input and suggestion was a great help. I cannot thank Mike enough for all his expertise. There were other staff at the hotel like the Zawadeh Restaurant who were great to assist us and even recover something that we left behind. Thank you for a great stay in your city and a great hotel for us to stay in.
We stayed one night in this lovely, quality hotel. Our room was beautifully styled and very roomy, with comfy lounge chairs and a good sized table. It also included a fridge. The bathroom was also very spacious, with a vanity running the whole width of the room. We had a nice view from our large window. The location was very central and easy to get access to the underground shopping mall. We also patronised the coffee shop (Cafe Castel) and the Restaurant (Zawedeh Lebanese) and were very pleased with the service and the food. All in all, a great place to stay.
