I had a fantastic stay at this hotel! The hot breakfast bar was a perfect start to each morning, offering plenty of options, and I enjoyed the extensive cable channels available on the TV. My room was spotless, and everything worked perfectly, making for a comfortable and hassle-free stay. The staff were incredibly friendly and went out of their way to ensure a pleasant experience; they even helped receive my Amazon packages, handling them with care. The location is ideal, especially if you're looking to explore the area. It's conveniently close to the Interstate and just about a mile's walk to Downtown and the Waterfront. It's a scenic and easy stroll to Beale Street and Sun Studio, and Minglewood Hall is also just a mile in the opposite direction. Overall, a great place to stay for anyone wanting comfort, convenience, and excellent service!
Close to the Interstate. About a mile from Downtown and the Waterfront, so an easy walk to Beale Street and Sun Studios. And only another mile in the opposite direction to Minglewood Hall, where I attended a concert. The Hotel had a hot breakfast bar, lots of Cable Channels on the TV, and everything in my room was in working order. However the staff was not very pleasant, plus my rental car, along with 5 others, was broken into during the second night of my stay.
Do NOT stay here. Dirty unkept and outdated hotel in a scary neighborhood with no amenities. Our room smelled like cigarettes smoke. Our CAR windows were BUSTED on our 3rd night![ nothubg in car to steal but still window busted out] Staff did nothing to stop them or help. We bailed out on the 4th night-- not worth the further risk. This hotel should be demolished to the ground. Its abysmal, outdated, scary, smelly & dangerous, and NO place for me or my children!! Do NOT stay here. Stay away.
Best Western is an excellent place to stay. The rooms are clean & comfortable. We always enjoy having breakfast which makes it easier to get going in the morning. The staff are very nice & helpful. Always my favorite motels! Would highly recommend anyone traveling to check out a Best Western!
BEWARE DO NOT STAY HERE!! OUR TRUCK ALONG WITH 3 OTHERS WAS BROKEN INTO MAY 31 AT 1:30AM AND WE WERE NOT NOTIFIED. FRONT DESK SAID THEY HAD NO WAY OF KNOWING WHICH TRUCK WAS OURS. REALLY? OUR FLORIDA TAG CAN BE SCANNED WHEN GETTING PULLED OVER FOR SPEEDING OR WHATEVER TO KNOW WHO THE TRUCK IS REGISTERED BUT CANT BE SCANNED WHILE IN THE PARKING LOT OF A HOTEL. MEMPHIS LEOs DROPPED THE BALL SO DONT COUNT ON BEING NOTIFIED BY THE HOTEL NOR LEOs . YOU WILL GET YOUR NOTIFICATION WHEN YOU GET TO YOUR VEHICLE. SO NOW WE ARE STUCK WITH THE WINDOW BILL SINCE OUR DEDUCTIBLE IS SO LOW. ALSO, KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR A REALLY DARK CHARGER. IT WAS VERY SUSPICIOUS WHEN WE PULLED INTO THE HOTEL. WE THOUGJT IT ROLLED OUT OF ITS PARKING SPOT SO WE WERE PTETTY MUCH DIRECTED BY THE CHARGER TO PARK TO THE RIGHT. THE CHARGER WAS THERE THE NEXT MORNING AND WHEN I POINYMTED TO IT SHOWING LEO IT PULLED OUT AND LEOs did NOTHING. JUST DO YOURSELF THE BIGGEST FAVOR STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL! THIS IS MY 2ND TIME WRITING A REVIEW. WE STILL HAVE NOT BEEN CONTACTED BY CORPORATE AND WE TOLD THEM WE DID NOT EANT TO HEAR ONE WORD FROM THE OWNER. THE ONLY WORD I HEARD FROM WAS THE ONE I DID NOT WANT TO HEAR FROM. WE TRUSTED BW REP TO MAKE OUR RESERVATIONS IN A SAFE PLACE. WE BOOKED USING OUR POINTS. APPERENTLY BE DOES NOT KEEP AN EYE ON THE REVIEWS OF THEIR PROPERTIES...THEY ALSO DROPPED THE BALL. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PROPERTY!!
DO NOT STAY HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO TAKE A CHANCE OF HAVING YOUR VEHICLE WINDOWS BROKE OUT!! We came out right before 6 am to find our vehicle had two broke windows and the trucks on either side of ours both had a broke window and they took stuff out of one. We were not notified until after we saw it and the desk clerk handed me a police report number . When i asked about the cameras and footage he said that maintenance person would have to look at it. I asked for a trash bag to get me by til I drove to the store and he gave me one. I told him I didn't think it would work and he said it had before. I asked if these break ins had been happening alot and he said yes. I told him they need security full time and to alert customers before. He was completely uncaring the whole time. I asked why we weren't notified before we found it as we had to have my husband at the hospital for surgery so we had to get as much glass out of our seats so we could go then I had to come back and call police and deal with trying to tape up drivers window and back passenger window while my husband was in surgery. The police were very nice and gave me another report number and also said they had been there alot and that it was usually trucks that were broke into. This hotel apparently does not care about their customers at all. Very very very upset ! The owner of the truck beside mine was also not informed til she came out. She was able to make then let the police check out footage and it occurred around 1:15 am when they jumped the fence and the security person had just left. How convenient. Their truck alarm was going off and another car pulled up when it was happening.
100% DO NOT RECOMMEND Stayed here one night 5.24.24. 3 trucks in parking lot had windows broken into. Front desk worker is incompetent. The night front desk attendant watched the break in and left the premises before calling 911 or anything. This conveniently happened just moments after the security company left. We ask for the name and phone number of the owner or manager but we were denied that saying it was not allowed. Then when the Memphis PD arrived the front desk attendant conveniently didn't know how to work the camera system. I'm gonna guess that there won't be any footage tomorrow when the detective arrives. This establishment is sketchy and if you stay here don't be driving a truck or you will leave with busted windows. So sad that you can't trust a hotel that changed you $225 for one night.
The second night of my stay my car, and three others, were vandalized. Windows were broken in the vehicles to gain access.
20 vehicles had windows broken in and stuff stolen and hotel workers were not concerned even when told that guns were stolen.
My car, along with all but one car in the parking lot, was broken into on the last night of my stay (May 1). The clerk was extremely unhelpful and appeared unconcerned. As I was loading my car, a woman at a nearby office told me the same thing happened on the previous Sunday. I get that crime happens, but the lack of response of hotel management to recurring issues does not illustrate hospitality.
We enjoyed our short stay in this hotel. Very clean, no odors, and updated recently. Easy on and off the freeway but no road noise in the room. The room was large and the bathroom was large and made it easy to share with a spouse. As we did not venture out to eat, we did not see any restaurants close by. Staff was friendly and welcoming.
Although this is an older style hotel, I think they do a good job with what they have to work with. Our room was clean, and the bed was comfortable . I thought the staff was friendly and helpful. We felt safe here despite some reviews indicating it might not be. We walked to the entertainment district and back without any problems but it may be too far for most people. The breakfast was adequate. Our only complaint was that the Ice machine was unplugged and there wasn't any ice for our drinks. They only have one ice machine so that was frustrating. I feel we got good value for the price we paid.
BED BUGS BED BUGS BED BUGS! STAY AWAY. MANAGER NEVER CALLED TO REFUND ME EITHER. THEY COMPLETELY DENIED IT EVEN THOUGH I HAD PICTURES. F THIS PLACE, AVOID AT ALL COSTS. THIS PLACE SHOULD BE CONDEMNED AND SHUT DOWN In response to management comment: I was bitten twice. Had to pull one off my skin. I have pictures. Your denial and refusal to take accountability is laughable. You never called me, never addressed my concerns, just denied everything. I have reported you to Best Western corporate and have an appt to speak with someone at the Memphis health department on Monday. I'd recommend you call me with remediation prior to that day. Your choice Another update: Tennessee Health Department has been notified. I had a phone call with BW corporate. I have contacted my attorney. And I have a blood draw with my doctor scheduled. You are digging your own hole by not responding. AT this point I don't care about the money, I'm determined to make this an awful thorn in your side if it's not handled professionally Let's not talk about the drug deals in the parking lot. I'll save that for another day.
Building felt super AGED but the staff were so happy and helpful it really got dismissed quickly. We had an outdoor loudspeaker playing local music very loudly right below our room ALL night both nights of our stay in room number 207, so be wary.
The staff was friendly and helpful when I pointed out a couple shortcomings with their breakfast selection. The room was clean however there was a faint smell of cigarette smoke when we walked in the room.
Just spent one night at this hotel. Just as you'd imagine a Best Western, pleasant rooms, clean and well presented. The beds are ridiculously high! I'm not a small person but I had to climb up! Not sure what a short person would do. Breakfast was better than usual in this type of hotel in America but there's a shirtage of tables at popular times. All in all a good place to stay in Memphis.
Torn, old, and bare-thread bedding. Bug resembling a roach greeted us as we entered the room. Foul smell in the lobby. Dirty elevator floor. I've been staying at Best Western hotels for over 10 years and this hotel does not deserve to bare the Best Western name. It's a disgrace to Best Western. It's overpriced for the service and conditions of the hotel. I paid $157 (before taxes/fees) per night to get $60 worth of hotel accommodations.
Elevator was not working. I understand things like that happen. The hotel should have done two additional things other than just called for repair. 1. Make an effort to inform the booked guests that the elevator is not working BEFORE the guest is at the desk trying to check in. 2. Make arrangements for someone to assist guests that need help getting their luggage up the stairs to their rooms. A young man wearing a Best Western jacket/smock who looked to be in his 30's (I'm a female in my late 60's) leisurely walked up the stairs as I was struggling carrying two bags up to my room. He just smiled and went around me.
The GenX is in Midtown, an interesting part of town. Lots of restaurants and clubs close by. Unfortunately the night we were there there was a lot of police activity in the area. The hotel lot had shattered glass scattered about that looked like someone's windows had been broken . The lot is well lit with multiple cameras . The clerk insisted we pay a higher rate than was posted on the internet “ to get the BW points” although she never acknowledged I was a BW rewards member. Their is only one luggage cart for the whole hotel . The room was clean and spacious and actually smelled of cleaning supplies . Everything worked in the room and the AC blew COLD! There was no tub, only a shower. Not a problem for us. The bed was comfortable and no noise was heard from other rooms. We went down for breakfast an hour before it ended . It's served 6-9 am. By 8 am there were no eggs and the employee seemed unhappy when guests asked her to refill eggs. She had just made herself a plate and sat down behind her desk for her own breakfast. The juice machine did not work. When we went to check out we had to wait for the one cart . There is no pool or hot tub here. The GenX is clean and comfortable, a bit more pricey than most others in the area and offers less amenities. Knowing all this we may or may not stay again but would advise checking other options if you're looking for anything more than a clean place to sleep.
Really clean nice hotel. Staff very friendly. We would stay there again. Beds were comfortable, lobby was clean, breakfast was included. Good location to the freeway. Hotel has been updated and had an incredibly large shower.
This hotel is old and dirty. Elevators are old, dirty and shaky. Pictures on internet look nothing like the actual hotel. It has an odor. The breakfast isn't what someone would expect. The picture of the sink which appears as if it is in the bathroom isn't in the bathroom.
Hotel not what it is portrayed on website. Hotel staff rude. Must hate his job. Not a safe area. Cars broken into. Eight total. Five were 15ft from entrance. Person at desk showed little concern or empathy for the guests affected.
The front personnel are rude. The breakfast area had more broken then working, it coffee maker, waffle iron, toaster didn't work. Charged me twice. Didn't care. Told me they couldn't do anything about it and to contact my cc company. It seemed to me that they treated us more of an inconvenience than guests. Over priced.
People using drugs and drinking alcohol in the hotel parking lot during the day, I didn't want to stay around and see what happened at night. The hotel itself is very poorly maintained and incredibly dirty.
This hotel is a couple of miles away from Beale Street, takes about 30mins to walk there. The room is big, but not much more to say on a positive note. The most off-putting bit was the towels being dirty. Breakfast was edible, you can make your own waffles. Wouldn't recommend staying here, unless it is the cheapest option you find and you're on a tight budget.
This hotel does not answer the phone, room was dirty, phone and air did not work, elevator floors were filthy, two cars had windows busted out and staff did not bother to find owners until they came downstairs for checkout. Will not stay there again
I stayed at this hotel while traveling to Nashville. The hotel was exceptionally clean, staff were very professional and accommodating, breakfast was good, and the inside of the hotel was very safe. That said, my car was broken into overnight. My window was shattered and there were other damages to my car. I noticed several other cars in the parking lot with shattered windows. My car was parked about 20 feet from the main lobby entrance. The hotel staff had already notified the police when I woke up. The hotel staff said I could get a copy of the police report from Memphis P.D. Out of fairness to the hotel owners and staff, I believe this incident had more to do with rampant crime in the city of Memphis than the hotel itself. Think twice before booking a hotel in or near Memphis!
walked to check in the lobby was nice and decorated for the season. The girl at the desk was pleasant professional and efficient. But then things went downhill. went t the elevator to go to our room. The elevator floor indicator did not work. When the doors opened the only way to know if we were on the right floor was to check room numbers. Found the room unlocked the door reached in to turn on the light but nothing happened. This sometimes occurs in hotel rooms when the lamps are at the lamp. My search for what which switch worked determined it was only a fidget device. It worked nothing. The room was cold which was not unusual. most modern hotels have thermostats. not this one it had a wall-mounted unit like you would see in a motel 6 in the 1970s. I was so high you could not read it and I am not a short man. the buttons were worn but then I found a remote. It kind of worked. The fan had 3 modes loud very loud and off. however, it did help drown out the noise from the freeway which went on all night long. The toilet was so close to the wall I needed to remove the toilet paper to set on it. When I got up to flush I noticed the seat was crooked. I thought I had done something. When I tried to adjust it back I found out it was permanently attached that way. So the toilet issue was a known problem. In the morning. Trying to shower revealed no hot water I let it run for 5 to 7 minutes. NO HOT WATER! Breakfast was ok but not up to the standards I have come to expect at Best Western Plus. My suggestion is to save your money. On the positive side the room disappear clean and the bed was comfortable
The US was built with the car as the primary means of transportation. This hotel is fine, but only if you have a car. The neighborhood is desolate at night. I don't know if it's safe or dangerous because there isn't anyone on the street day or night. I didn't see anyone walking around. Having said that, there isn't anything around that I would walk to. The medical center is on the opposite side of the freeway, which makes the walk imposing. The hotel was clean, well-kept, and efficient. Everything worked as expected. The room and furniture is boring, but it's fine. The carpet wasn't grimy. It's clean enough to walk around bare feet. My room was bright and plan white sheets made things easy for me to find problems. In any case, I was here to sleep and check out the sights.
Although this hotel and room were much smaller than we anticipated, we thought the room was extremely clean and the mattress and bedding were outstanding! If you want a modest price hotel with an extremely comfortable bed and friendly helpful staff, this place is perfect!
booked a stay from Thursday through Sunday. Only had one hot shower and that was Thursday night. Woke up to find out there was no hot water due to a line busting. No hotel personnel could help answer any questions regarding when the hot water would be fixed. Was told during check-out on Sunday to put our name on a list and the manager would contact us on Monday to discuss the inconvenience and a rate reduction. The manager Amy never contacted me and after leaving 5 messages still have never heard back from Amy. I would recommend forking out the money and staying at another hotel in Memphis.
There was no hot water at the hotel during our stay. We were not informed of this at check in and when we reported it we were told "It is out in the whole hotel." No apology or additional information was given. Poor customer service.
We've been to two Best Westerns this trip and both cleaned rooms every day. No other chain where we stayed, including Marriott, cleaned every day. The room was big and the furnishings were up to date. The breakfast was good but not elaborate. The attending lady did a great job keeping everything refreshed as needed. The hotel is close to the Civil Rights Museum, Sun Studio, and the Cotton Museum.
Carmella got to the bottom of the problem and made sure that we had a room for the night, she is a wonderful representative of Best Western and she should be acknowledged for her dedication to her job. Carmella has to work two jobs in order to keep her family afloat and she should be recognized for great work she does.
This was a first experience with the "Gen X" version of Best Western. The rooms are smaller than usual, and the location is not primo. For all of this, it is a good value. It is convenient to the downtown attractions, and our room was comfortable and attractive. For a value accommodation in Memphis, this is a good deal.
1 this is a very old hotel, the picture on the outside was taken at night to make this location look better then it was. Toilets did not flush so had to change rooms and the same thing again. Room was OK but nothing the rave about. Breakfast was minimal compare to other best Western we have stayed at. As a good member I was not offered anything. Felt somewhat unsafe. Went to used the bathroom in lobby but was nasty and dirty Poop all over the toilet. This Hotel need a new dolly the one they has appeared to have been picked up for another hotel it was falling apart. Felt unsafe
I wouldn't waste your money staff was rude food was horrible hotel was dirty I don't think they changed sheet or clean dirty soap in the shower towels was dirty had to ask for clean ones broken stuff in the rooms
The location was good for the medical facilities in the area but as an old paramedic hearing all of the sirens was a bit much to stay with. We rolled into town during a city wide lockdown because of a rampage shooter/murderer that was on the loose. That alone shook my wife and we were both ready to leave when we got there. Hotel was a good three star hotel but did not have a microwave or some other normal amenities.
Not sure what the Gen X means but the hotel is good. a bit of a way out but a good nights sleep and free car park. breakfast was very basic with very limited choice. use lyft or uber to get downtown and enjoy Beale street
This was a great little place to stay in Memphis after an awful experience at another hotel this one was like The Ritz! Great room although a bit noisy at night as we were by the lift. Room was very clean and bed was comfy. One of the charging points didn't work. The guy on reception wasn't the most welcoming but he wasn't rude. When we asked where the ice was, he just pointed. A good, pleasant stay. The breakfast lady was really nice and the produce was fresh.
Location is too far from downtown to walk but price was great. Friendly staff and felt secure parking car. Neighborhood is mostly hospitals with a few food options. Definitely worth staying if you have a car on your trip to Memphis. A few options for breakfast but nothing special.
It's a little ways from downtown, so you will need a car or plans to get a rideshare, otherwise this hotel is a pretty solid option for Memphis. Prices were pretty low compared to locations closer to downtown. The neighborhood isn't much to look at; mostly hospitals and residential, with a few restaurants a couple of blocks away. The rooms were very spacious and clean, the staff was very friendly, and they had a few options for breakfast in the morning (nothing special). Only negative was that I thought my bed was a little lumpy, but it may just be me.
Big, clean rooms. The building layout made me think it might the property might have been an apartment complex originally. Lots of electrical outlets. The front door is locked for security. The property is close to Beale Street. We'd consider staying here again if we're in the area.
We only stayed overnight as a stopping point on our way to GA - arrived late but staff were kind and helpful! Huge - clean room with very comfy beds! Breakfast options were good - lady kept up with ensuring everything was cleaned after a use and made sure all food options were stocked! Would def stay here again if our travels took us through Memphis!!
Horrible nasty attitude from manager Amy, dirty room blood stains on sheets, no towels book 1 king and got a handicap room. Amy was very inconsiderate told me I had a options to go somewhere else and stay when I am a loyal best Western customer.
There were 4 cars that got broken into the night of my stay. The driver side glass door of my car got smashed into pieces & took some of my items. It's not safe to stay in this hotel. Beware! This facility doesn't care about your safety and take responsibility of your stay. They won't pay the damages of your belongings even if the incident happened in their own facility.
Hooker outside was a bonus, I suppose. I guess the overpowering smell of marijuana in a nonsmoking hotel was supposed to be a perk. The neighborhood was far from safe. Do your research, and don't stay here if the above issues aren't for you. I will never stay here again. Now, I gave two stars because even though the bad things were serious, the hotel itself was nice. Most of the employees were nice as well. The male front desk clerk wasn't polite at all. It appeared I was inconveniencing him by checking in.
This hotel was wonderful as we were a little worried for the area. It was extremely clean, and staff was cleaning every surface constantly. Breakfast was wonderful as they had hot options too. Will definitely stay here again!
We checked in after 26 hours of travelling and our room was defective with multiple lights and charging ports not working and the blinds wouldn't close, we called reception to change rooms or have maintenance fix the defects and were told if we didn't like the room we could check out if the hotel with no refund! The hotel walls are paper thin, you can hear EVERYTHING! People in the adjacent rooms talking, showering and going to the toilet! The room doors are really loud and they wake you every time someone arrives or leaves. If you want a good night sleep do not book this hotel. Pillows were lumpy and bathroom drains blocked, by the end of the shower your ankle deep in dirty water.
Stayed at the Best Western Gen X in Memphis for my first visit. The hotel was located in a convenient part of the city, so I was within about 15 minutes to any of the places I visited - Civil Rights Museum, Graceland, etc. The staff were all polite and helpful, and the room was very clean with daily housekeeping.
This hotel was a major disappointment. The person at the front desk was unfriendly and unhelpful. The fitness center was a joke.It only had two treadmills and one elliptical. There were no weights, no machines, nothing else in the fitness room. There were no luggage racks and we had to put everything on the floor. There was no microwave in the room. They use DIRECTV and the Remote controller didn't work. I called the front desk and he finally came up and tried to get it to work he was unsuccessful and finally had a work around and was able to get the remote to work. The breakfast was substandard compared to Other best westerns. This hotel is far below Best Western Inn standards. I would never recommend anyone staying here.
A photocopy of my driver's license was mandated prior to during check-in process. No other hotel has ever requested such. To date four properties require such. All that is need is a social security number and they have everything to steal your life. Please don't utilize individual property ownership as an excuse for this! I was told in order to purchase something at the amenities store I had to sign for it. Again, never experienced this before at any hotel. After waiting fifteen minutes for someone to determine what the sign in procedure was?? I decided not to purchase and was asked to return product to amenities store if I could not wait. I had to check out a day early. I was told I needed to provide an excuse before my bill could be closed. Apparently, "none of your business" was inadequate. Stay elsewhere!
Clean, quiet, safe hotel with easy access when you have a car to get to the airport, downtown or Graceland. Basic breakfast included. Free parking. Comfortable bed. Good wifi. I will definitely stay there again if I return to Memphis.
We stayed here for the weekend. The place was very clean and the beds were very comfy! The staff was quite but friendly. Location was okay. Not walking distance from anything but a quick uber ride. The only negavtive thing I can say is that there were some homeless people on the ramp.
This hotel was clean. However, the carpets were soaking wet the first two nights I stayed. This was even after changing rooms. Had to wear shoes in the room at all times. Also, the hotel is beat up. Half of the lights and half of the electrical outlets in my room did not work. The so-called "fitness center" had three machines - two of them were broken. The location is good because it is near downtown. However, the neighborhood is BAD. All of the gas station stores have bulletproof glass. Need I say more?
Convenient location to downtown and hospital ares. Service was not that good and rooms were dated and dingy. Decent breakfast but “hot” items were cold and dry. Coffee was good. Staff not very friendly.
I will not be visiting this location again. Needs to be rebuilt so as not to be claustrophobic. Better maintenance needed. Hard surfaces in hallway looked clean but also made noises louder from rooms surrounding. Trash can outside was unusable and dumped over the whole time. A large portion of parking lot was under water. First room the toilet was broken, 2nd room there were no towels. Had to go downstairs and get.
The staff for the most part weren't very friendly. I feel like they tried their best not to speak to guests when checking in/out. They also appeared to hate their job. The breakfast was mediocre at best and ended promptly at 9am. The overall cleanliness of the room wasn't great either. A few stains on the towels and sheets as well as a relatively dirty bathroom and a desk chair that was in bad condition. The location of this place wasn't terrible but definitely not the most safe. Lots of sketchy people around the hotel. Overall, my first stay in a Best Western and probably my last.
The staff for the most part wasn't very friendly. I feel like they tried their best to not speak to guests when checking in/out. They also speared to hate their job. The breakfast was mediocre at best and ended promptly at 9. And the overall cleanliness of the room wasn't great. A few stains on the towels and sheets as well as a relatively dirty bathroom.
This was absolutely the worst Best Western experience I have ever had. My family has always stayed at Best Western, but this experience had me questioning if that was still a good idea. Specifically at Gen X we experienced: - dirty, stained towels and linens; when I asked the desk clerk for clean sheets he acted confused as to why I would need them, then only brought me one top sheet - two small decorative sized pillows to sleep on in a King size bed (those are not big enough) - half of the outlets did not work - a desk chair that appeared to have come from a dumpster - there was dried mud all over the floor of our room - there was a strong odor of cigarette smoke that filled the whole floor - there were people screaming in the hallway all night, so we got no sleep before continuing on our road trip - highly disappointed this terrible night/experience cost me $170
The price is ok and probably set to keep riff raff out. The hotel has age but decent and fixed up mostly. Desperately needs new carpet in the rooms. Front desk staff, while pleasant, less than helpful. Breakfast was a delight, all things considered with covid. The neighborhood is not great. We felt unsafe and ordered take out in order to stay parked in a well lit spot. All night drag racing occurred which is not the hotels fault, but made us restless.
Great hotel, nice staff, clean room, exceeded expectations. Overall good experience. Location was very convenient to interstate I40. Felt very safe and secure for traveling alone as a female. Will be back.
The online picture of the hotel is misleading. It looks as if you are staying at an upbeat location when you are not. The areas surrounding the hotel are not in the best of shape. There was no literature available for things to do in the area.
I was in Memphis to see all the sights and this motel was close to everything. Staff was very helpful. The hotel was very clean and parking lot was safe. Would definitely stay here again. Next time I visit Memphis.
This hotel is very clean and near every place we wanted to visit in Memphis. The price was very good, which frees up more money for other activities. Because this is a time of Covid, the free breakfast had a dismal selection, so plan on having breakfast elsewhere.
Do not stay here. Worst Best Western hotel we have ever stayed in. The clerk at checkin could not have cared less that we were there. The furniture in the room was old dirty and worn out. The vinyl on the desk chair was peeling off. The chair and footstool were dirty. The sheets were thin and VERY old and icky. Pillows were the same. We were shocked that Best Western would allow their brand name to be on this hotel.
When we came in, had to wait for someone to let us in. Totally understandable, but the man seemed not interested. Kind of acted like he was being bothered. I had booked 3 rooms. When we went to our room there was a pizza box with a half eaten pizza in it, and water bottles laying around. So I immediately went to the front desk and told this man, and he really seemed to not be too interested. I told him about the pizza and bottles but no only that someone had been smoking. He just nodded his head. So I cannot recommend this hotel. I try to stay at the Best Westerns when we travel, but I'm getting a little leary.
This hotel was dirty, the room was dirty, the towels were dirty, the sheets torn and the TV didn't work. When the front desk was informed of the issue with the TV his reply was "you call the cable company then". We only stayed because it was late and pouring rain. Do not stay here!
Night clerk was not friendly but morning staff was. Was a large group of people in the parking lot drinking and smoking pot. Did not feel overly safe staying there with my grandkids. Hotel is older but was clean enough. Is convenient to the Zoo.
Too many issues to name. If you want a clean room and a hot breakfast, this is not a place for you. If you want things to work and are not broken, don't stay here. Left early and won't be staying here again!!
Don't stay here! The water was barely hot and took too long to get hot. The sheets and comforter were stained In several places. The blinds didn't close all the way. The internet didn't work at all! Horrible experience. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL!
Nice room, clean, friendly staff. Did not feel safe outside of the hotel. Another guest prior to our arrival had their car broken into in the parking lot. The security camera's for the parking lot did not cover the entire parking lot .
Staff was welcoming, room however had been the subject of a weed smoking party, Housekeeping sprayed and did what they could to get the odor out, The next morning again someone on the floor had a weed party so much to the extent the housekeeping attendant told us we should complain and request a discount. I did mention it on the way out no discount was offered they just said we should have complained when it was happening we didn't know it was happening until we opened the door from our room
Check in staff barely said hello, but I'd be miserable too if I worked there. Hallways looked like you were in a cheap brothel, but once in the room it was a slightly better impression. This place is a perfect example of how pictures can be deceiving. The desk chair had seen better days. The pleather was peeling off in most places. The bed was comfortable enough, but the pillows were lumpy and they stank! Ready for the trash! The area seems safe enough, 10-15 minute drive to get downtown. I think they should remove the word “Best” from their name.
This was the WORST hotel experience of my life! The hallways smelled like smoke. When we laid in bed, we turned over the main blanket to discover a large ball of HAIR. The second blanket had a huge pee stain AND the blanket was unraveling. The pulley string to open and close the window curtain broke - I reported it to the front desk and they really didn't want to fix anything.
My wife and I were traveling from Oklahoma to Tennessee. Based on the reviews, we selected Best Western Plus Gen X Inn. Finding the hotel was easy. It was easy to reach from I-40! The hotel is in an excellent location for travelers traveling through Memphis. Check-in went smoothly. The hotel lobby was clean and staffed. We stayed in Room 407, which was a standard studio with king-sized bed and one bathroom. The room was very quiet. The hotel amenities included complimentary Wi-Fi access. There's a complimentary breakfast in the morning. Due to Covid-19, breakfast was still on the go. We opted to get breakfast outside of the hotel. Overall, the hotel experience was good. It's a great overnight stop with incredible value. Don't expect more for this valued price. I would recommend this location due to its excellent location, price, and cleanliness.
Rude man at the front desk, no continental breakfast as promised online unless you consider a continental breakfast to be coffee and muffins, room doors don't latch unless slammed shut, walls very thin can hear everything in the next room. Will never stay here again
Good: Bed was very comfortable. Shower was hot with good water pressure. Bad: We had a king bed with three pillows. Went downstairs to ask for another and was told not possible. No one answered front desk when we called several times. Bathroom counter was cracked and bed skirt was dirty.
Nice hotel right in the middle of midtown and downtown. Walking distance to the medical district. Sitting directly in front of the trolley. The hotel is right off the expressway (surprisingly quiet) This would be great hotel for ones that are looking for a nice but not expensive, comfortable option. I recommend this to singles and couples. I live in the city(plumbing stopped working , had to get a hotel for the night).
I don't know how people can leave positive reviews! We had the room 205, we went upstairs and it was very dirty! They changed it and gave us the 405. Even that was very dirty! Dirty floor, dirty sheets and unclean bathroom with hair everywhere ! The towels were dirty and we had to ask for new ones. The sheets and the comforter were dirty. In the website they says that they have higher cleaning standards for the covid! It's not true! I can't imagine how they cleaned before the covid! This hotel is all dirty! Rooms, elevator, corridors, everything! Then one evening, I couldn't open the hotel door with my key. The girl at the front desk looked at me and she did nothing to help me. When I managed to get inside, she looked down. I checked in on the 22nd morning and the lady at the front desk was the only kind person, I told her about the dirt in the rooms etc, and she told me she would report to the manager. i don't recommend this hotel to anyone
I really like coming to this location for a small getaway trip with my partner every now and then. The immediate staff is very friendly and housekeeping is always very helpful when I need any extra tissues or towels. It's a nice location and not far from many eateries. I recommend this hotel when you just want to relax and get away from reality for awhile.
The reviews this hotel has was the reason I choose it. But, the entire hotel and room smelt like smoke. The shower has hair all in it and in the bath towels that were not ours. But, at least the bed was comfortable... The employee at the front was nice though.
Was in the midtown area and was worried because of location. Hotel was clean, and exceeded my expectations. Rooms were spacious. Hotel staff was helpful and courteous. Location was convenient to everyting i needed on my visit. Will definitely stay again.
The head board on the bed had all kinds of handprints and smears from someone's greasy hands. easily one of the most disgusting things I have ever seen when I walked into a hotel room. No drink machine, very small parking lot, just seemed like a much cheaper run hotel than what I imagined when I booked.
I stayed at 5 hotels on my trip. This hotel was the most expensive at $114 for a king bed. The other hotels that I stayed at were Hampton Inns, which were much more upscale that this hotel, yet I paid less for their rooms. Also on the morning we left (and we left early), there were only 5 other cars in the parking lot. Since the hotel was not full they should have been offering better pricing. It appeared that my room had not been sanitized for COVID-19. We found a dusty area behind the TV but easily accessible. This is an older older so the furniture is not up to date. However the furnishing were adequate. Also the room size was adequate and there was adequate space for our belongings. This hotel is in a bad area. There were homeless people a about 2 blocks from the hotel. We had picked out a place to eat that was nearby. When we got to the place, it had burglar bars on the door. The place was closed so we never got to see inside. We then drove in the other direction (still on the street that the hotel was located on). We drove several miles and couldn't find any restaurants. Our route took us into downtown and all we saw were boarded up buildings. On a positive note, both the receptionists from when we checked in and from when we checked out were very nice & helpful. Also the breakfast was nice. We had choices of muffins, sausage biscuits, & yogurt.
Sorry sorry sorry I am thoroughly ticked off....supposedly downtown and a plus location....only on very outskirts of town not downtown at all and I was staying specifically for my daughter...rooms are no where near full but we could not get a checkout for 12 he was insistent and rude about 11would not give me a baby bed or even extra blankets breakfast was sorry room looks like a motel 6 and there are no charging ports....so I know I have high standards blah blah blah I should have known and just went to Peabody!! I guess on a good note the room was clean so that's something at least
Good stay overall. Very helpful and friendly staff, clean rooms, decent location (5 min drive to Beale St). Breakfast was sub-par, but to no fault of the hotels (Covid-19=BLAH). If coming back to Memphis, we would most likely return here.
Place had roaches in the rooms, homeless in the lobby, coffeemaker in room was inop, and ac didn't work properly. I sent an email to Best Western customer service and have yet to hear anything in over a week, but boy they charged me for it.
Our bathroom still had a dirty washrag in the shower and was clearly not cleaned. We were given a $5 discount which is hilariously small given the circumstances. Additionally we picked this hotel because it includes breakfast and the website said there would be to go bags. In the morning we were told they didn't have any supplies. Definitely the worst hotel experience I've ever had and way overpaid to experience it.
Loved it! Check in was fast and easy! Love the perks of being a Diamond Rewards member! Love my snack and beverage bag especially after a long flight or long drive!! Friendly and knowledgeable staff is the reason why we only stay at BW Plus when we are away from home!!
We called Best Western and decided to stay here on our way back home from spring break. The lobby was beautiful and smelled wonderful! Delightful young woman at checkin. Nice, spacious room with 2 comfortable queen beds. I asked for extra pillows and got them. (they were warm which has never happened) I loved it! The air conditioning was great and was able to adjust it because we like sleeping in a cooler room at night. The breakfast bar was beautiful! Delicious, hot food with a awesome variety. It went far and beyond what you expect from a hotel. Because it was so delicious and beautiful I had to take pictures and tell the ladies at the front desk how awesome it was which includes them. Great overnight stay!
This hotel online looks MUCH different in person than the advertised pictures. I wish I would've read the bad reviews first but generally when a hotel has a 4/5 rating I don't worry too much. I was wrong. The location is horrible. It's unsafe. You have to scan your card to get in through the bulletproof glass. That's a red flag there. I was worried about my car all night long. Lots of vagrant foot traffic. When we walked into the room it had a HORRIBLE smell. I can't even describe the smell because it's unlike anything I've ever smelled before. It actually made me light headed and wobbly to stand. After awhile it went away but I have a feeling my daughter & I were breathing something horrible in all night. Only reason we didn't pack up and leave was because it was past 10 at night, we just finished a 14 hour drive, & I didn't feel safe leaving the room even to communicate with the staff. I didn't feel comfortable with the staff & all the reviews stated they were combative if you reported anything. So we stayed in the room. There was black mold in the bathroom. You can tell the room was lazily cleaned. It didn't feel clean. The drawer between the two queen beds did not close. It stayed open so we had to prop a suitcase against it so we wouldn't accidentally hit it getting out of bed. The toilet was stained black on the inside. The decor was outdated. The only semi nice thing about the room was the beds. They were comfortable and had soft pillows. But my sheets had a dark stain. In the morning before we left we didn't bother with breakfast we were just ready to get out of there ASAP. Only positive was Linda (morning staff). She was very sweet but busy trying to run breakfast. So we had to wait a bit to even be checked out. She apologized & it was fine but we just wanted to leave. I've seen the replies to the bad reviews from the management of this property. Please don't even try to respond to my complaints. They are true & I don't want to hear how they aren't or how it's newly renovated or redecorated. It's not inviting or pleasing to look at. Also- your doors don't feel safe within a chain latch & the fact we can hear everyone through the walls and in the hallway isn't helpful. I don't recommend nor will I ever stay here again. I will be paying closer attention to reviews from now on.
This was hands down the worst hotel experience I have ever had the misfortune to go through. Upon entering the hotel it was clear that the pics online were very staged. The decor is extremely outdated and the bullet proof glass at the entrance lets you know how bad the area is. Upon entering the floor our room was on we were greeted to the chemical/plastic smell of crack smoke. The 40-60 year olds in the other rooms on the floor left their doors open to party and drink like it was senior week at Myrtle Beach. There is zero sound proofing in the rooms so we heard literally everything the neighbors said and did through our whole stay. The bathroom had literal black mold and smelled disgusting. Had we have stayed for any longer we would have found somewhere else to stay. We will NEVER return.
The hotel is clean breakfast is good and the internet was good. The location is not near anything. If you want to go to Beale Street you have to drive. We walked it's about one hour one way. I will not go back to this location for that reason.
It's a nice room. Small hotel. I liked it. And we would have been 100% satisfied if the hallway noises weren't so loud. The room doors basically slam. They're super loud when they close. Also easy to hear voices in the halls, even if the people aren't being super loud. But it was clean. And overall quiet. (There were lots of doors shutting in our sleeping hours which obviously is prob not the norm.) There should be a towel shelf in the bathroom.
We really enjoyed the friendly staff & the clean rooms & the delicious hot breakfast each morning. We really enjoyed the BBQ Shop restaurant nearby on Madison Avenue. Their wet ribs were delicious! They have a gated parking lot, which has an entrance & exit both 1-way in & 1-way out, which really made me feel like my car would be safe. Very convenient location, with a nearby interstate access road.
I was unsure on this hotel before I got there. It is an old building with a small parking lot in an urban environment. BUT! It's the whole property is very well remodeled, clean, and sturdy (as opposed to the flimsy newer buildings). The parking lot is plentiful for the small number of guests rooms (4 or 5 floors with 8 rooms each). And safety and security are clearly a high priority for them. The parking lot has one way in and out right next to the front desk through the porte cocher. It's fenced and clean. Lots of cameras. Staff extra steps to keep the hotel safe like securing doors that aren't being used. I felt safe the whole time. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Normal fare but high quality. There were not many guests during my stay and there was enough breakfast area seating. Might get more crowded during busy days. Breakfast staff was very nice. LOTS of really great dinner options about 1 mile east of the hotel. Easy interstate access. Quiet rest.
We were there only overnight. Small hotel with private parking, and continental breakfast. Check in was easy, our room was nice and clean. You can hear everything going on in the halls. But my biggest complaint is our room was over the lobby. So we could hear the automatic slide door most of night. My suggestion dont stay on 2nd floor. Everyone was nice, room and bathroom were clean, and the breakfast was good. We had king room with a refrigerator. I recommend if you need a nice room on a budget. Not within walking to downtown. Not close enough for that.
For the most part hotel was ok. They could use some real coffee. And a different key lock on the front door to make things easier for their guests. The location is great though. You can hit up a ton of Memphis attractions in only a few minutes.
My night was so room had hair in shower room could have been cleaner breakfast was ok cold eggs the knowledge of the front desk staff was poor I got more info from my Uber driver over all the price of room I thought was over priced
I had an early doctor's appointment and this hotel was the nearest to the office. The hotel was clean. The staff friendly and knowledgeable about the area. The breakfast was the best hotel breakfast that I have had in a long time. We usually stay at Choice hotels, but after this stay, that may change.
I stayed one night here in October 2019, to go to a football game at the Liberty Bowl (alas, Memphis is good, my Green Wave got completely smashed) and stayed here. The location was perfect---not too far from the Liberty Bowl and not too far from my post-game trip to Beale Street. The staff was wonderful---very helpful getting a cab to Beale Street, despite it taking calls to three or four cab companies. (I don't usually do Uber or Lyft because they are just unlicensed cab companies.) The room was very comfortable and perfect for what we (I met up with my dad there) needed. The only small ding is what people have already noted---the elevators are almost silly small. The hotel itself must be very old to have them; but it is well updated and the rooms was great.
The hotel is beautiful as well as was the room. The receptionist, cleaning crew and breakfast people were super professional. Breakfast was amazing with many options to choose from. It was a great location because I was able to go to Rendezvous, the BBQ place and had an excellent meal there. Bbq nachos!
This is a great property very close to down town with out the cost of staying near Bealle St. Staff went above and beyond to make our stay great! I will stay at this property any and every time I stay near downtown Memphis. This is a very small but intimat eproperty with free parking!
This was most definitely the worst place my wife and I stayed in. Here's the reasons why; Outside grounds were not very attractive. Inside, One elevator was working and had a smell as if it going to catch fire. The other elevator was broken. Halls were dingy looking with broken mouldings, very dated, very old. Room was dated and dirty. Not like the picture they posted on line. We had to cover the sofa with a towel to be able to sit in it. Room was smaller than normal and had an odor the moment we entered it. I developed a runny nose, a stuffed nose and itchy eyes while being in my room. Luckily we only used the room for sleeping as we were out most of the day in Graceland My wife and I both woke up itching especially our legs the next day. We couldn't wait to leave first thing in the morning. Place is truly a dump with views of factories and commercial areas unable to walk anywhere. Heavy four lane traffic in front of building, very noisy. Panhandlers all over Hotel is in a ghetto neighborhood. Found out about it when we checked in as there's only one way in or out and security cameras monitor the property. Place is so bad there's a high gate all around the parking lot and plenty of lighting on commercial buildings outside this fence. They claim being 1.7 miles to the center of town. Take your car and don't walk it! Place locks down at night with a little window for late check ins. Place was still locked down in the morning when we went to get coffee. No one with any authority present so we were not able to complain. Got the managers name and email address when we checked out. Manager Jennifer was useless and offered no resolution other than a 25% discount. This place is a very poor reflection on best western. The breakfast which was included with our room was horrible as well. The only good thing was the small containers of yogurt. At least you knew that was fresh. Place was also pretty empty with just a few cars in the parking lot. Huge disappointment.
We arrived early around 2pm in drizzly weather. I liked how they let us check into our room a bit early to unload our suitcases. The room was spacious and neat. The armchair was a bit uncomfortable to sit on but this was not a big deal. We liked the proximity of this hotel to Sun Record Studio as well as Beale Street. Many other hotels we researched were about seven or more miles out of town. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast room was a bit crowded, however, and there not many tables for people to sit on. Nevertheless, they had plenty of food on hand, unlike some hotels. Although it's named “generation X” we did find there was a big mix in age levels of people staying here.
So convenient! The location was just a block away from where I needed to be. The room was clean and the staff wonderful. A real bargain. Everything just worked out great for what I needed. Updated, clean and efficient!
Very affordable to be so close to the tourist attractions all staff were helpful an polite parking lot an area seemed very safe an protected room was clean comfortable an relaxing an had a very Very good 24/7 coffee station in the lobby
About 3 Miles east of Downtown/Beall Street. Nice Room No pool or hot tub though. My room had a view of downtown skyline so that was a plus. Reasonably priced snacks too (sodas $1.00 etc candy $1.50). Breakfast average.
Close to downtown tourist area. Good proximity to shopping, food, entertainment. The ammentities were nice, with exeption of a microwave. Affordable rate , secure access to parking. relatively easy check-in.
This was a nice hotel that I would probably stay in again, if it were closer to Beale St. The good thing is the trolley service has stops really close that made getting downtown really easy. Breakfast was good but not enough seating
I stayed at this hotel during my recent trip to Memphis. It's located in the Medical District so not exactly the most happening part of the city, but central enough where it's pretty close to some major attractions like Beale Street, Graceland, Sun Studios, and the National Civil Rights Museum. Nice room, nice morning breakfast, and helpful staff. I was there to primarily sleep and spend the day visiting the city and the surrounding states. If there was just one little critique about the specific room I stayed in it was the toilet was a little wobbly (otherwise it functioned fine), and the water pressure in the shower wasn't the strongest (but it did the job). Overall I would stay here again the next time I'm in town.
We came for a quick trip for a concert and a little Beale street entertainment. This hotel is close to the trolley for transportation downtown. The staff was very helpful and courteous. The breakfast was a typical hotel breakfast but very clean. The attendant was always available for any needs and always cleaning. Highly recommend!
We used the room to sleep...and it worked very well for that. We especially liked the shade and how it blocked out the light. Beds were great. However, a picky person might be annoyed by a few things (we just tried to ignore them): 1 Face plate for the phone cord was just hanging loosely from the wall. Looks like drywall screws were used to attach it and they have pulled out. 2 Water faucet is reversed from what most are...cold was to the right and hot to the left. 3 caulk was missing around the tub 4 no soap holders, so soap stuck to tub and sink 5 air conditioner vibrates for a little while when kicking in...and it kicked on a lot due to the high heat 6 a couple of small stains or mold on the shower curtain 7 a reddish smear on the wall above the toilet...not sure if it it's a stain or just dirty 8 a lot of dust built up on top of the baseboards Again, we were there to sleep at the hotel....most of our daytime hours were spent visiting the area (Graceland, The Pyramid, Beale Street, Sun Records Studio, Rock n Soul hal of Fame - all in two days).
I didn't have a reservation and they were booked. Linda at the front desk made it happen. She called other hotels for me, but I didn't like the people there. So she called someone who was very late and told them there'd be no penalty if they released the reservation since I was there and ready to book. They released it and I got a room. Clean. Good location. Good breakfast. I was so impressed with Linda I booked for my 2 night stay because of her. What a star. I hope the bosses read these because she deserves some recognition. Thanks Linda!
We belong to BW Rewards and generally choose their hotels. This facility offers comfortable rooms, excellent WiFi, very well attended breakfast, wide parking spots and short drives to most Memphis locations.
Great hotel experience! It is close to Beale Street and is a great price for the location! The front desk was really helpful and the next day after I checked out they let me keep my car parked there while we explored Memphis!
The room was poorly cleaned! Hair was in the bathroom and the room had a bad smell. The fee of the room was over $150 and it wasn't any event going on. The lights were flashing on and off. I think there needs to be a deep clean done on the entire hotel.
This hotel suited us just fine for our one day in Memphis. We started at the zoo, checked into this hotel. We followed this by Mud Island, Bass Pro, and Beale Street. The location allowed us to do all of these small adventures. We drove to each location. The hotel is a boutique hotel. It is very small, but it was clean and served a great purpose for us. The hotel does a fence around the parking area which made our cars safe. The breakfast was good. Also, one of the woman who worked there made sure to give my children ice in their water bottles for the hot day. I thought this was very nice!
I didn't realize it was a boutique hotel. I was surprised at the smaller size. Staff was nice, room was rather small for a king size bed. There was 1 small elevator, I mean small. The breakfast was nice. The location wasn't in the greatest of locations.
It was a nice hotel. We were just passing through and stayed for 1 night. The staff were nice. Check inn was quick and easy. Breakfast was your basic contential type breakfast food. All and all our stay went well.
I don't know what I expected, but what I got was very satisfying. The check-in/check-out process was smooth. The parking was free and breakfast was decent and hot. Our room was clean and the property was quiet. Not to mention... only 2 miles from downtown and affordable. I had no issues whatsoever with my stay. I would recommend them and I would stay here again.
First of all, I found a bug in the bathroom on the day that I checked out. The fan did not work in the bathroom. The main light fixture in the room did not work. I stayed for three days. I requested clean sheets for two of those days and it did not happen. On one of those days a pillow was still on the floor that had fell from the previous night. meaning the beds were not touched at all!!! Will not stay again..
Room was decent enough, but sink drain plug was stuck and remained stuck for 24 hrs before hotel worker came to fix it. Larger issues were the overall drabness of the interior of the hotel lobby and hallways;- elevator, etc. and the somewhat deteriorating neighborhood in which it is located.
Great location, friendly staff, a little over a mile to Beale Street venues. Breakfast included and gated parking right next to the hotel. Small hotel venue which my husband and I like. Easy on and off access from Interstate 240 in downtown Memphis.
Really enjoyed my stay, overall service has been great. Props to everyone who showed us great service and comfort during our stay. I would definitely return if or when I'm in the area again. Highly recommended
this hotel isn't within walking distance of anything, but it was a fine option if you use uber/lyft or drive yourself. parking was fine. front desk was fine. the breakfast was busy and very oily, but had several basic-plus options. the room was good. smaller hotel, easy to manage.
Summer trip to Memphis Tennessee... .... ........... ....... Hotel was okay but being that it was classified as a Best Western Plus it should have had more amenities such as a business area, pool, microwave, safe, and better food beverage purchase area
Hotel was about a 8 minute drive from Beale Street. The lobby is small but beautiful. Well actually its a small hotel compared to others. Check in was easy. I felt safe leaving and entering the hotel. The room was clean the air conditioned kept us cool. The fridge got really cold...like froze my drink. This is the 1st time I witnessed a hotel room with such a cold fridge...lol
It was in an unsavory neighborhood and the room wasn't worth the price! I won't go back or recommend this place to anyone. Pictures were misleading. That's all I have to say. ☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️ 200 characters that's ridiculous!
Booked this on one of the booking sites, not realising how far it is out of the city centre. You can get in on the bus, but it can be a bit scary. We used Lyft, which was about $6 or $7 dollars a ride and really easy. Staff were great; friendly and helpful. Breakfast was a bonus.
comfortable, friendly hotel, a little way out from downtown but trolley runs down the road regularly or easy drive into downtown. Try the dancing pigs restaurant/cafe about about mile up the road, great ribs etc
This hotel was clean, the staff was friendly and efficient and the food was better than most hotels. The internet was fast and easily accessible. Parking was convenient and free, I would stay here again if I ever come back to Memphis.
This is a very small hotel, but the staff, especially Linda were great. She provided a lot of information about the area. including excellent places to eat which we took advantage of. Check in and checkout were both fast. .
First I apologise for the length of this review, it's the longest that I've ever written. That's for good reason as there are things here that you need to know before deciding whether or not to book this hotel. Whilst I am certainly no snob I do have good standards of decency and cleanliness and these were far from met at this hotel. This is a really basic, no frills dive hotel, don't expect any level of luxury here ! Lino on the corridors, a strange smell in the lift and rooms and lacking evidence of any level of maintenance, cleaning and good management. There's paint on fixtures and fittings from when the hotel was renovated and the rooms are disgustingly dirty [see images of the filthy wash basin and the mouldy shower area]. A shower that is barely strong enough to wash the soap suds from your body when on full [see video]. Wires hanging out from around the lift area and the maids cart that sat in the corridor all day long. Breakfast is a farce, the seating area has just 14 places which is wholly inadequate. At my visit the breakfast had no cereals, no eggs, no brown bread. When I complained about this, I was offered leftovers which consisted of sausages patties with white toast and fruit juice, nothing else. The sausage that I had was as greasy and disgusting. The biggest problem with breakfast is that each different member of staff tells you a different time that it finishes. I was told 9:30 at check-in. When I called down at 9:35 on the off chance that breakfast was still ongoing I was told again that it finished at 9:30. The next day I went for breakfast at 9:10 and it had finished at 9am, signs had appeared overnight in the breakfast area to that effect. A French lady staying at the hotel appearing shortly after myself had been told 10am cut-off. I complained about this and found that the manager simply blamed the staff and said ‘I don't know why they are saying this to people'. Jennifer the Manager does not take ownership of issues and shows no willingness or ability to manage the hotel. I also noted a real attitude in the manager toward customers who complained whilst I was there, an attitude verging on belligerence, confrontation and viciousness not only with me but with other customer complaints. Finally and with all BW hotels, single use plastic cutlery is unforgivable in these more enlightened times. The only good thing about this BW is the location which although in a sketchy area is very handy for all that Memphis has to offer. I would certainly not return and I recommend that you choose elsewhere and get a professionally run hotel. Jennifer the manager was confrontational and vicious when dealing with not only me but I witnessed with other customer too. A manager who blames her staff for problems rather than owning them herself.
Room was very comfortable and roomy. Front desk staff was very helpful and courteous. Room was clean. Breakfast was better than most hotels we have stayed at. Checkout was fast and it was raining cats and dogs. Staff was very helpful in taking luggage cart and drying them off.
This room provided the basic accommodations I needed for a 2-night stay. Certainly not glamorous but walkable to some of the offices nearby. The breakfast was the absolute best! and inspired me to write this review. I felt like someone's grandma was cooking each item from scratch. I really appreciated that.
Ok so I was traveling under some pretty stressful circumstances and I got to the hotel late and Linda made me feel right at home with her awesome smile and friendly attitude. Then the breakfast was really good and fresh, and the lady at the front desk when I left was the cherry on top of a really good experience! Thank you Best Western in Memphis...
Clean room. The pillows were terrible, flat, and small. There was barely any water pressure in the room. The parking was very nice. Well lit and fenced in. Great continental breakfast. Very friendly staff.
This looks like a very ordinary hotel on the main road and sits in centre of a car park. Location is terrific just a few minutes drive from the centre of city and all it has to offer. Reception staff were excellent and helpful, room rate excellent for this close to city. Room was bright and comfortable with cosy bed and good amenities.Safe area with secure parking, you can also leave the car and catch tram directly out front. Pleasent stay for 1-2 nights
This was a reasonably priced hotel, very clean and offered a sufficient breakfast. It is not really walking distance to downtown Memphis. You could walk it but it's over 2 miles and some areas seemed a little desolate to be walking through. However, it is very east to drive back and forth from downtown and very convenient to the expressway.
Stayed here for 2 days and 1 night for a NBA game at FedEx Forum. Location was only 8-10 minutes away from arena. Good location! No complaints about any problems encountered. Value for the price paid was good. I would say overall 3-4 ⭐️ as far as service and cleanliness goes. Everything in the room was in working order. Nothing was broken or out of service in the hotel.
Visiting Graceland, it was convenient and easy to get to my destination. Quiet and would stay there again. Good breakfast, safe parking, close to other destinations. Easy in and easy out in a somewhat busy area.
This hotel is clean, nice staff, Internet is hit and miss, it is a $15-$20 cab ride to Beale St where all the Action is so you will need a vehicle or incur cost to get there. Easy to get to from the major Hwys.
Hotel is relatively clean, but it is an absolute terrible place to stay. Extremely noisy all night. No assistance from the front desk. Staying on the top floor = Maintenance team on the fu***** roof at 8am Sunday morning stomping and pounding. Stay here at your own risk.
Conveniently located to downtown and interstates in and around Memphis .Quiet and the parking is sufficient and gated. Staff was very pleasant and helpful, rooms were comfortable and quiet. Breakfast was hot, coffee was good, juice was cold. Wi-Fi was easy to connect and signal was excellent.
We stayed here on a visit to Memphis this March. The room was spacious and clean. The hotel itself is quite hard to find from the main road if you're driving, Google maps was telling us we were right on it but we had to drive around twice before we found it! Now normally I would put this down to us being tourists but the evening we arrived we ordered a cab and even he drove past it twice!! The girl who checked us in was so lovely and friendly each day there but the evening staff didnt give have that same charm, they were by no means rude or anything but just not professional looking. One girl was sitting eating behind reception one evening just wearing a tshirt.....this kinda stuff alone gave the hotel a bit of an unprofessional scruffy feel to it. It's a bit out if you dont have a car so I would say If you're thinking of hanging around Beale street be prepared to pay taxis in and out each time for 15 dollars including a tip, I would say use that money to pay more for a more central hotel stay.
The property is not close to the famous Beale Street nor the stadium where the local MBA team plays. It is however close to many of the medical clinics, especially the eye clinic. To get downtown take the trolley alternately take a cab for about $14.00 for two passengers. The town centre area is quite small so once you get downtown walking will get you most places. Cabs are not easy to find unless you are near Beale St. If you use a car from the boat or the train station be sure to get their card unless you have a ride share account. The hotel itself is a little tired but it is fine for the price. The staff was really nice. It is about a 12 - 15 minute cab ride from the hotel to the train station.
The room could have used a little repair here and there, but was clean and more than acceptable. The people at the desk were very helpful. The breakfast, breakfast area, and attendant were great. The bed was comfortable. The shower was hot with good pressure. My only very minor complaint would be that there were small remnants of green gum on the mattress pad. It was clean, but the gum hadn't wash out. Would I stay there again in spite of it? YES! Very nice experience.
This a nice little hotel off from the foot traffic of Beale street. The room size was good for our family and our kids loved the breakfast in the morning. They also have a awesome coffee maker in the lobby and provide everything you need for coffee or tea.
We checked in here for one night, two rooms. Linda at the front desk was extremely helpful and gave us adjoining rooms, helped with other details. Not far from Beale St, all in all a good experience. If it had been day time we would have taken public transport but Lyft was cheap and convenient.
The hotel was a very nice stay I loved the staff they were really friendly and were able to help me out a lot. The breakfast was amazing and make the start of my day a good one. The rooms were very nice and they felt like I was the first person to stay in them ever.
Good location -- close to food, sights, highways. Clean, new, modern building and rooms. All staff was very friendly and hardworking. Hot breakfast of waffles, eggs, fruit, cereal, coffee hit the spot for our family. Thank you!
I want to say that this Best Western is an excellent hotel with a very hard-working and diligent staff. The overnight manager Linda went above and beyond to accommodate us and correct any mistakes. The free breakfast was good and the room was clean and spacious. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone whos's staying in Memphis that's looking to get more for what they're paying for.
Felt like hotel wasn't in best of locations. You'll need to drive or get a cab to go downtown. Mostly medical facilities around the hotel, and didn't feel like a place you'd be comfortable walking around, especially in evening. Hotel is clean and quite basic. Breakfast was fine and plenty of food/choice. Not very many tables though, so short for space at busy times. Rooms were cleaned each day, all staff were friendly and helpful. Check in/check out is easy & efficient. There is parking at the hotel - but make sure you leave nothing visible in car and that it is locked - 3 cars were broken into while we were there (& we were only there 2 days). Basically, you'll get what you pay for - it's cheap (in comparison to other hotels nearer centre), clean, but not in great area/location, so you'll need a car or cabs.
Pros: 1. Breakfast is great! The food selection was good. 2. Free parking in an enclosed space. 3. Internet was fast. Cons: 1. Room is a bit dated. The bed sheets had some hole. 2. Not sure with the location but it feels unsafe at night. 3. It was a bit expensive considering the quality.
I had made a resversation at this hotel for a room with 2 beds several days in advance, but upon arriving on October 19 the desk clerk informed me that they only had a king bed(I don't understand why my request for 2 beds was giving away)I was highly disappointed, but the young lady at the desk went all out to help by lowering the rate and I knew it wasn't her fault. It wasn't a very good night of sleep as one of us slept in the chair, but we survived.Disappointments was the extremely small pillows and the scrambled eggs which looked and tasted artificial, but nice employees, clean hotel, free parking.
When I arrived, the receptionist was extremely patient and helpful. She made several calls to help me sort out a payment issue. The room was clean and nice. The hotel is a bit off the beaten path. I read other reviews that said it seemed sketchy, but I didn't have any problems in the area.
Great hotel near sites we visited. Clean accomodating friendly staff. Easy to access interstates and downtown. Highly recommend. Helped with printing tickets and providing directions to local bbq parking other sites.
This is a great hotel. Lovely spacious room, spotlessly clean. Great breakfast and very friendly staff. Not the best location but within walking distance of trams and buses to get to Beale St or Graceland. No shops or restaurants nearby so if you arrive late in the evening there is nowhere in the vicinity to eat.
The BW Western + Gen X Inn is a great hotel near the center of Memphis. What was distinct about the hotel is our room was fully equipped, great bed and the typical included breakfast. It has a Gen X feel with medium width hardwood hallways, 5 stories and a warehouse outside appearance although it was new. Very secure parking (one way in/out). Plenty of places to get to eat within a short driving distance. The suggestion Huey's was amazing. (maybe 1/4 mile). Started in 1977, great old tavern atmosphere, good variety of food and one odd feature (sandwich tooth picks) that people shot up to the ceiling using a drinking straw. Thousands are stuck. You can pay a dollar donation to local charity to guess the number of tooth picks on the ceiling. Previous year's count was 8,000+. The ease and comfort of the hotel and location made our two night stay excellent. We picked this hotel because we're familiar with BW+ for their clean comfortable rooms and fair price.
Thanks BW, Great place to stay, clean...comfortable...and hot coffee 24/7. Very good breakfast also. Close to downtown and restaurants. If I go back to memphis, I will make reservations there. The price is very good for what you get.
Good place to stay but not the greatest location. This is one if the smaller of the BW we've stayed in. The staff was very attractive to our needs. The breakfast was ok, but not much room to sit. Would probably pick a different place next time.
Hotel very comfortable and clean. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend if visiting Memphis. It is very convenient to the tourist areas, Overton and Beale Street. This is a great place to stay.
This place was a decent value for the money. Not the Plaza but a good place to rest your head. It was clean and the staff friendly. We especially loved Linda at the front desk. She gave a us a great location to eat and was very friendly. Her attitude was awesome if the review was based on her it would be five stars. So summary - for the money it was above expected.
We have stayed at numerous Best Western Plus hotels all over the US and Canada. I would only rate this one as fair and to be honest if were in Memphis again I would not stay there. It is a little dated and needs to be upgraded to many other "Plus" hotels that Best Western has in its chain.
Great hotel, who accommodated our 11pm last minute reservation. After being disappointed by another less than subpar establishment we found this hotel. This hotel is very unassuming from the exterior, the inside was immaculate. The sleeping accommodations was comfortable and clean. The icing on the cake was the inclusive full service breakfast. Definitely a hotel we would use again.
There is nothing outstanding about this hotel. It does however do everything you need it to. Rooms are good size bed is comfy car park is free breakfast is fine and tasty free tea and coffee. Bus and shuttle services across the road. Staff are friendly and helpful. It might not be in the most attractive part of town but if you're not bothered about that then this a good hotel.
This non assuming building in a not so great area is not a bad choice. The rooms are spotless with very modern and attractive furnishings. The breakfast is on par with most midrange hotels. The staff was helpful and pleasant. At the price we paid I couldn't have stayed closer to the Beale St area but we ubered and use tour bus that picked us up at Hotel so we didn't need my car. My only complaint was the neighborhood offers nothing. You wouldn't want to even walk around the block here. No place anywhere near it to eat. Had food delivered on our first night as I wouldn't leave the hotel
It is a place to sleep for the night and that is about it! First the TV didn't work, so the front desk said they would be right up.... 30 minutes later still no TV or front desk people! The rooms are very small, but they were clean and orderly! Breakfast was one of the worst. We came down about 9am and every tray was empty that should have been full of hot breakfast they said was offered. So we thought just have a waffle and be on our way.....Well that was empty also! I did think it was nice for the hotel to have motorcycle parking, but since it was full of cars, and the front desk people said there was nothing they could do, it was somewhat a hoax. The front desk people were very nice and sent me to a great place to eat! Little advice, get a room NOT on the highway side!
When we arrived at this hotel the outside looked drab and uninviting. However, the room was adequate and the beds were very comfortable. The beds are very high though so if you are short like me I struggled to get on them. The fan in the bathroom was very noisy and there was a constant drip from the tap in the basin which was annoying. All in all a good basic hotel and in a good position to access Memphis. There is a tram that you can catch outside that takes you directly into Memphis city centre, however, it only runs until 8pm.
No problems with room and staff, but the hotel is very outdated and could use some new paint and decor. Breakfast items good and check in and checkout easy. Bed was comfortable and location was good for visiting Graceland.
I liked this hotel. It is small, nice and very clean. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Hotel is close to downtown and has its own parking. Uber ride to downtown is just 6 USD. There are some very good restaurants nearby hotel. I would stay in this hotel again.
I choose this hotel as it had easy access off the interstate . The service was friendly / rooms large and what was expected of s best western . Breakfast and WiFi are included and it is s only a short uber in to town
Upon checking in, I asked about a discount, because my grand daughter was having surgery at LeBonheur. I was told they had stopped giving discounts 3 weeks prior. After I returned home, I called Best Western Plus, pretending to book a room and asked if a LeBonheur discount was available. Surprise.....it was available. Beware
We stayed here in our trip into Memphis for 2 nights and booked it again two weeks later on our return night. Clean very friendly staff !! Nice breakfast and it's very handy to all the must do's in Memphis. Reasonably priced also.
Small hotel close to downtown, staff very helpful and courteous. Early check in was very nice for my mom to lay down and rest before our show. The room was great, bed very comfortable and plenty of room. Breakfast was great! Would definitely stay again.
Was not worth $150.00. Nice bed, linens and clean. Parking close to front door. Everything else old and used. Ice only on the 1st floor. Check in easy and quick. Breakfast available only to 9:30am. Will not return.
Good value hotel. Rooms plenty big enough with comfortable beds and good bathroom facilities. Spotlessly clean every day. Excellent breakfast. Complimentary coffee available at all times. Staff really friendly and helpful.
Gen X is a supposedly up scaled Best Western. While the room was a little better than your run of the mill B Western the inadequate parking, lack of amenities and a location too rough to walk from coupled with a $200/night price tag make this a poor value in Memphis lodging.
The view of downtown was awesome. This is a no frills location but the room was clean as was the rest of the hotel. We will stay here again and that says a lot for us. We do not stay places twice if there are any problems.
Ok, so this was the second part of our holiday, 2 days in Memphis to go to Beale Street, Graceland and Sun Studios. Even though the hotel was clean and the staff super friendly, it is not in a district that I would have chosen for myself or my husband. We had to catch taxis to and from each of the places we wanted to see. We were advised not to walk around the area on an evening, which is a shame as we wanted a hotel in an area that we could walk to and from our chosen places of interest. Beale Street, Graceland and Sun Studios were amazing, but please spend money ?? on Memphis and it's people, it's so sad that it's such a poor area.
Staff is excellent and the hotel is modern. located off of a main street, the hotel is very close to restaurants, grocery stores, and drugstores. A bit too far to walk, but if you have a car, everything is less than 6 min away. Will stay there again the next time I am in Memphis on business.
We enjoyed our time here and will stay again. Staff was friendly and parking seemed secure. It was a 5 mins drive to Beale and downtown. We took Uber to Beale, $6 each way. Parking was more than that.
This should have been a better stay but sadly not. The first impression was great when we first pulled up. The Lobby very stylish but once you get upstairs that all changes. Once you get off the elevator the hallways are kinda dark. The room was ok but for one major problem...mold in the windows. We had our room changed and the same issue. Not to mention the toilet paper holder is pulling from the wall and I found a small amount of trash that was not cleaned. It might not seem like a big deal but I just don't get the paint job it's just messy and takes away from the whole experience for me. The area was not bad but I will not be coming back to this BW. Sadly no consistency with Best Western. Spend more money making the hotel better as a whole and not just the lobby area.
The hotel room was clean and the bed was fairly comfortable. Breakfast was okay, the standard you come to expect with the Best Western brand, but nothing that stands out. The staff was okay, but didn't go out of their way to be friendly.
We ordered on-line and got a great price. The room was spacious and bed & pillows were comfortable. We enjoyed a good nights' sleep until the next door guy started coughing. It seemed like the walls were paper-thin, though my husband slept through it all. However, it was quiet to outside the building noises. Our room was on 3rd or 4th floor on the end. The breakfast was nothing special. Eggs were unappetizing. Oatmeal was instant with no nuts or raisins or granola. The women didn't order Almond Milk; or let the other staff know when she did; so there was none for 2 days. By then we were leaving. One night we couldn't open our door, the staff was very helpful in printing us a new key; but finally after the 3rd one; came with us and that one worked. All in ALL, we liked the hotel and friendly staff.
Front desk service could have been much better. They also keep the front door locked and getting out was inconvenient. You need a better sign out front, maybe something on the awning. Shower curtain was hung incorrectly and couldn't completely cover the tub when the shower was on,
I felt like it was a unsafe area to stay, bathroom was gross, had bugs, unpainted and was gross. I get what I paid for. The breakfast was not that great, eggs were undesirable, not the cleanest area. Not very good experience and wouldn't recommend.
This is the closest hotel to Minglewood Hall and it is close to the mid town medical area. Staff is friendly and hotel is clean with fenced in parking. If you are looking for a comfortable room in a safe location in Memphis, this is an excellent option.
The staff was friendly and helpful. The property is beautifully maintained. The decor is a little more modern than other properties I have been in recently. Everything was excellent. I would definitely stay again.
The hotel was reasonably priced and maybe 7-10 minutes from downtown by car. Everything was clean and seemed to have been renovated. Very quiet. Would definitely recommend. ReD the previous reviews and they were on target.
Solo 67 yr old woman felt safe and slept very comfortably. Has a dorm like hallway appearance but was clean and bright. Easy ride to Beale Street. The heater blew cold air but a call to the front desk fixed the issue in seconds. Fantastic staff.
This is like a little boutique hotel. 32 rooms total. Downtown and a mile or two from everything. Beale Street, Bass Pro Pyramid and lots of great little shops. Super friendly staff and so helpful. We spent two nights. Very nice handicapped room with an unusual setup for the bathroom. The toilet and tub are separate from the sink. Which can be a plus. Very clean and the quietest hotel I have ever stayed in. Gonna miss the fun staff. This was a big time five star rating!!
An older, but clean, safe place to stay near Methodist University Hospital. Outstanding Staff who answered every question and fixed every room issue. Had a special Hospital rate. New the area made suggestions on parking, where to eat. All positive.
We were in Memphis for the Memphis marathon. We drove in from Wichita, KS and knew we didn't want to stay too close to downtown because I would be driving around the course to see my husband at various points along the course. This hotel was a perfect location. It was close where I could drop my husband off at the start but far enough away that we weren't limited to road closures with the start and finish of the race.
This Best Western is located between the Beale St/Downtown area, and Overton Square on a section of Madison Avenue that wasn't all that busy, but yet just a short drive from all the action and sights. I was able to get a Lyft within a few minutes with it being nestled in a central location. The property was clean, and looked to be recently updated. Parking was free, and I felt comfortable leaving my vehicle in the smaller, well-lit, fenced in lot. The most noticeable aspect of this hotel is that it seemed to be exceptionally quiet, even for a Saturday evening stay. Breakfast was acceptable, but nothing extraordinary. I would definitely consider staying here when I visit Memphis again.
We were doing a quick overnight in Memphis and planned to do a bit of the downtown area while in town. I was very lucky to find this and get a night here by using my rewards program. I was a bit apprehensive by a few reviews but this was a great stay. The staff was very efficient and welcoming. Yes, the floors have only a few rooms on them and the place feels small till you step in your own room. The room was large, the beds were the best of our whole trip!! I felt safe by the card only access, the fence around the property and the fact that there seemed to be plenty of people staying there. What a wonderful opportunity to stay so close to downtown, thank you BW!!
The hotel was very nice. Small hotel, but centrally located. The hotel seemed very secure, had to use key card to access most times, the whole property was fenced. All the rooms were inside and there are 2 good elevators. The room was quite large and roomy which was nice. I was disappointed to find a fridge but no microwave. Overall I would stay here again.
Went to join friends from high school to celebrate a milestone year. Enjoyed my stay at Best Western Gen X very much. Felt safe in room and on premises..Rooms were updated with comfortable beds and free wifi. Breakfast was available each day with a selection of hot and cold items. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Would book again. .
The location of the hotel was great. Nice views of the city. However, the hotel was understaffed and breakfast was less than mediocre and one day there was no coffee at all. I reported that the light next to my bed was out and was told that there was a man was coming to fix it but unknown as to when. He never came. Plastic cups were not replaced. Also when we arrived, it was pouring rain and cold and both outside doors were locked. Finally the receptionist came and said she locked it because she was alone and had to go to the bathroom. She seemed to be the one doing it all! We are diamond reward members and were very disappointed.
Good location just off freeway and 5 minutes from downtown Beale St., numerous great restaurants, and historic venues. Great friendly staff, clean and quiet room, standard Best Western hot breakfast items. Good value for price paid.
We really had a very nice stay. The staff was very helpful and recommended eating at the BBQ shop which was great. Also helped us with printing tickets for a tour. They gave us directions and maps to find our way.
Really friendly, helpful staff, but management needs to pay attention to maintenance and housekeeping. The roof apparently has or has had leaks, and my top floor room's ceiling was a mess. I can only imagine what issues this has caused for air quality in those rooms. As for cleanliness, I dropped something on the floor and had to get down low to retrieve it and what I saw under the bath vanity was appalling. A thick layer of dust and hair and items of trash. Clearly, the room had not had a good, deep cleaning in at least half a year or longer. The carpet had many spots of soiling which indicated long overdue for a carpet cleaning. Well run hotels should have more regular deep cleaning and maintenance.
My husband and I have become Best Western regulars because they do not disappoint when it comes to a clean room, friendly staff and a basic standard breakfast. The reviews are correct when it says the breakfast seating area is small. We had no problem but noticed it did fill up as we were eating.
This was a really small hotel, about 8 rooms per floor. But the rooms were really nice and front desk attentive. Room #308-the phone is broken, as is the little reading light on the bed. Parking close and convenient. Would stay here again.
The rooms were large and spacious, but it could use more attention to details. The bathroom had the toilet and shower in a separate room from the sink. This could be good, but there was no towel rack by the sink, so you had to open the door where the toilet was to dry your hands. The toilet seat wouldn't stay up. The phones didn't work so to contact the front desk, you had to go there physically. There was no hair dryer in the room and they had to find one and bring it to us in the morning. It is near the hospital and there were a couple helicopters leaving that were quite loud, but there were only two and that's life. Then there was a very loud humming noise that I was trying to identify. It finally stopped when the air conditioner kicked off, so we needed to turn the AC off so we could sleep - why can't hotels have windows that open? The front desk was helpful. The breakfast was good - Diane who took care of the breakfast was full of southern charm and hospitality!
We stayed three nights in this comfortable, mid-price hotel, visiting Elvis' Graceland, the Lorraine Motel and other Memphis sites. Our only negative was the too-small breakfast area, carved off one end of a limited lobby. You may have to take your food back to your room. But the price, location and comfortable stay still earned this hotel four stars.
It was a nice clean hotel with very friendly service. They helped with finding a place to eat for dinner. The lady that did breakfast was a very cheerful lady made you morning start off on a good foot with a smile.
My husband and I have stayed at this hotel both times we have visited Memphis. We love the location because it is close enough to Beale Street and other Memphis sites while offering free and secure parking. Both our trips have been on our Harleys so we park then and either walk or taxi to Beale Street. Linda at the front desk is the most helpful hotel employee we have ever experienced.
Handy if visiting SCO but minimal everything. Breakfast is the pitts, shower dirty, small small bathroom with sink on the other side of the guest room. Strange set-up. Concrete walls. When we arrived to our room the door was open. Strange.
Stayed here for a few days; some outlets weren't working, some lights weren't functioning, toilet backed up, ac batteries dead and once replaced AC wouldn't work. Waited over 3 hours for someone to unclog toilet and once no one showed up requested rooms to be changed; emailed manager and never heard from her. I've stayed at many Best Western but this one was not a good one. The breakfast attendant (I believe Diane) was amazing and breakfast was awesome!!
If the AC in your room does not work properly, you could have little to no sleep. Your next day could be problematic! The AC in my room could not keep up and I sweated out the night and must have slept no more than two hours. I asked the front desk folks to give me some sort of a discount on the bill. So far, I have not received any word back. Customer Service is what hotels do. I will not stay at this particular hotel again.
This is a different type of Best Western. It is more like a hotel rather than a motel. Even though it is different our stay was very good. It is close to the interstate and yet also close to the city. There are a number of attractions within a few miles of the facility. The room was well appointed and quiet. The beds were very comfortable. The breakfast selection was good and there was plenty to eat. The lady that was in charge of the breakfast was very friendly and provided excellent service including picking up our plates and cups. She made the stay a real joy. It is a little hard to find because the sign is small and partially hidden behind some bushes but we would stay again if we are ever in the area.
We were very pleased with our stay at this Best Western! The price was good, pleasant rooms and the staff was great! When we checked in, Linda was especially helpful! (Her tip to go to the Bar-B-Q Shop a mile down the road was spot on! Absolutely the BEST dry rub ribs!!) The breakfast staff was friendly and had a good variety of offerings. We loved that we could get the nearby trolley for $1 to take us into town! For our return at night we took a cab one night and Uber another, both were about $7.
This small hotel is very simple with no pool but has the usual Best Western continental breakfast. Coffee is alway on in the lobby. Outer doors have to be opened with your key or by front desk so it's very secure. We didn't find the area bad at all though. The rooms are quite a good size. We had an awesome king size bed that was sooo comfortable, and the pillows were plentiful and soft. The hotels is very clean and updated. It's just a short 5 min drive to Beale street and the Mississippi River. We did not see any restaurants close by other than a Starbucks 4 blocks away. The value for what you get here is excellent. Would definitely stay here again.
Very reasonable prof for Memphis. Free parking large room very comfortable bed and nice bathroom. Bus stop across the road to go into town and felt very safe. Found the staff really helpful and approachable and the staff member at Breakfast was lovely. Rooms very quiet as I am a very light sleeper. You can walk into town however would take about 40 minutes however bus is very cheap. Would highly recommend this hotel.
My wife and I and another couple were touring the South and used TripAdvisor to find this hotel for our time in Memphis. The price was right, the staff very friendly and helpful, the room comfortable, and the location was very convenient. I'd stay there again for any future visit to Memphis.
The hotel was well taken care of. The staff was great. The breakfast was only ok, but the price was good. The location was good as well. I would definitely use this hotel again if I traveled to Memphis.
This is a small hotel near the historic downtown area of Memphis. The hotel has approximately 36 rooms. The rooms are well maintained and well appointed. Two elevators serve the five floors. The breakfast area/Lobby are also small. The breakfast area seats 16 people. The food selection is small and not well stocked. Sausage sat in grease and the "eggs" were mostly water.
Good from Desk Clerk greeting through departure. Very good recommendations from Linda at the desk for dinner and Beal St. entertainment. Room, beds, etc were very good. Close to eating and entertainment both. Easy to find off I - 40 as well.
Good size room, breakfast ok but the standard sugary breakfast. We took Uber into Beale st and was about $6 each way. Easy 10 minute drive to Graceland and Memphis Airport. Decent base and while it wasn't cheap it was considerably better value than the downtown options. Would stay here again if in Memphis
I chose this hotel for it's location near the city centre, tourist spots and music venues (all an easy c. 20 min walk for a quick walker - it is advised as per locals to get a taxi back at night though), the reasonable price, wifi, decent looking rooms and inclusive self service breakfast. On reflection all of these were great, which served as a welcome "get back to the comfortable hotel" feeling at the end of busy days as a holiday maker. Staff were really helpful and it was a really pleasant stay.
Stayed here 17, 18 & 19th August 2017. Rental car got smashed drivers window during the night. USB stick and cable stolen (not on display). Clearly thieves looking for rental car sat nav (which we didn't have). CCTV doesn't cover whole of car park. Evidently car drive in via single entrance/exit broke into our rental then drove out. Guy on desk was clearly not doing his job. This carpark needs access control. Have to say AVOID until this is resolved. Otherwise stay was OK. Break in ruined our tight schedule of tours etc. Best Western sort it out.
We chose this hotel because it was close to Beale Street and the interstate for our next destination. The hotel is cute and small. The staff was great and we loved the person working in the breakfast area. The lot is small and in a secure area. We would come back here again.
Clean place in a safe location. Lobby and rooms were nicely decorated. The room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good. NO pool! Close to Beale st, freeway and kroger market just a couple of short blocks away.
Excellent customer service, going above and beyond to meet patron needs. Great room, good breakfast and the location provided easy access to major thoroughfares. Restaurants nearby, shopping is an easy trip and Memphis Zoo, Graceland and Beale Street area are all nearby. Highly recommended.
The hotel is nice, clean, and the staff is courteous. Breakfast was good, and overall it was a great place to say. I was locked in due to a seven day cancellation policy that I failed to read when I made my reservation, so rather than loose my points, I decided to stay.
This was a really nice hotel. We stayed only one night. The staff was super friendly and very helpful. The hotel is small but the rooms are clean and really nice. Would definitely stay here again. The breakfast was good. The night clerk printed us out a map of the downtown attractions. Very helpful.
Super friendly staff and desk staff. While hotel is in the middle of medical area, it is only a mile or two from Beale Street. Tram is across the street and adjacent to interstate. Breakfast is the standard precooked scrambled eggs, cereals, yogurt, etc.
Entire staff was friendly and helpful. We arrived in Tennessee earlier than expected and figured we would have to wait around for the 3 1/2 hours but the staff was able to move things around and get us a room right away. They also suggested sights and eating establishments.
We were in Memphis for a meeting in mid-town. The room was clean, cool and ready on time. parking is free and secure. Breakfast is good with waffles and all the other dishes. Quest computer with printer was also nice. Great value.
We were on a family trip to Texas we were staying at this hotel one night on the way down and two nights on the way back to spend some time in Memphis. Once we got to Dallas Tx we decided we only wanted to one night and called to cancel one nights stay. Three days before we were to arrive at this hotel again we decided to cancel our second nights stay and was told we could cancel but we would still be charged for our stay. It left us no choice but to stop for the night.
All staff members at this facility were very kind, caring and helpful and went above and beyond to make our hotel stay very comfortable. Very good experience. We would recommend this location. It is very centrally located to downtown Memphis, Graceland the airport and Mid town Memphis.
We were traveling through the south to visit family in Mississippi and Memphis made a great evening stay. Check in was easy . All staff that we met were helpful and pleasant, especially the hostess at breakfast. Complimentary breakfast had many selections. Room was clean and contemporary. Like the book reading lights above the bed. Close but not too close to Beale street . Quiet neighborhood. Would stay here again .
The hotel entrance small but very pleasant and clean. The king size bed was very comfortable and the room is very spacious. The breakfast was excellent and the lady working the breakfast was awesome. She treated every guest with so much affection. She cared. 5 stars to breakfast lady on 7/15/17.
I would not stay here again. 1. Safety of area 2. Check-in staff did not get out of her chair until she had to walk to the printer for forms I had to sign; not friendly at all 3. Sink and vanity counter are not in "bath" room. Weird. 4. Bathroom is tiny. Door clears toilet by about 1/2 inch. 5. Bathroom is so poorly lit it seemed like a very dim night-light, and the "Kermit-the-frog" paint color makes room seem smaller and darker. 6. Shower curtain rod was nearly pulled from wall on both sides, so curtain would only stay in middle section. Water pooled on wall, toilet and floor at front of tub. I put a piece of duct tape on the front to hold it in place for my son and left it there so maybe the staff would notice something was wrong! 7. Window curtains fly up and out when ventilation unit runs - all the time. They are so short, it is hard to find enough things to push against them to try to keep them against the window. 8. Bright notes: breakfast is great and the breakfast staff is great and the room was reasonably clean.
This clean and modern hotel is conveniently located for visitors wishing to experience the rich musical nightlife of Memphis without having to put up with staying downtown. As one would expect from a Best Western property the staff was friendly and helpful, the facilities were clean and the furnishings were up to date. This hotel will definitely get a return visit the next time we can make it to Memphis.
Located just off the I-240, 10 minutes from downtown Memphis and this smaller, quiet hotel was the best option for us - easy in, easy out, 2 elevators, never crowded, parking close to front door, good breakfast that was always tended closely and cleanly by wait person. Coffee container went empty for me, an immediate replacement was literally right there. Very pleasant experience for us 2 older adults. Restaurants nearby, and, a Starbucks before leaving the city.
Room was large with plenty of storage and a very large bed, air conditioning was really good, the room was cleaned with someone in everyday, shower was good and hot with a change of towels every day. Linda on the desk was absolutely brilliant arranging transport for us etc nothing to much bother. Breakfast could be better. I would recommend this place only 4 because of the breakfast
Nice clean quiet hotel we had little trouble finding it but very nice stay no loud noises even with being by the elevator. Friendly staff shower head good height for my tall husband. Was worried about train noises but never heard them during the night
Our stay was great, for the length of time were in Memphis. The hotel was clean, staff was AWESOME and very helpful.. I would stay here again. This hotel is not very big, however it was family friendly.
The Best Western Gen X in Memphis is conveniently located right off of I-240 and near several good restaurants. The hotel staff recommended we try the BBS Shop about a mile away. It turned out to be very good. The front desk attendant was cheerful and helpful, and our check-in process was simple and efficient. Parking was convenient to the front door of the hotel. Miss Diane was the breakfast attendant...and she made our breakfast a wonderful experience.
room was prepaid...they charged me $6 at check in.. did not have a shuttle from the air port. The service at breakfast was excellent. the gym has only cardio equipmen and no TV, well at least the TV wasn't working. rooms are nice and clean with good views of the city.
The staff was all exceptionally friendly and helpful. I was really impressed with their customer service attitude. Rooms were clean. Breakfast was not good. I don't know why, but the scrambled eggs were sitting in water both days. Sausage had kinda of a weird gray look to it almost like it had been boiled. Everything just had a watered down look or taste to it, including the orange juice. Agree that walls are thin. Lots of inside and outside noise but I play water sounds on my phone all night which drowns out most noises. Not the bowling ball that dropped in the next room at midnight however ;). Just a note of caution about the toilet seat lid...it is not sturdy. I'm a small woman and the lid buckled and collapsed when I sat on it! I liked that the hotel was more centrally located. Nice to avoid downtown which is congested, loud and parking is a challenge. From the Gen X, you can get to all areas of the city with relative ease. If the breakfast had been top notch I would give this a higher review. It's a decent place to stay, less expensive and centrally located with great staff who are really trying to make your stay pleasant.
I stayed here on the way to New Orleans and on the way back. The rooms were already reserved and taken care of by our company or I would have picked a different place the second time. The power was out in Memphis the first night. The place was booked. We didn't get much sleep because the hotel guest were so loud. We could hear EVERY word the guest were saying in the rooms next to ours. And they talked a lot. People were in and out of rooms at all hours. They couldn't move us and there were no other rooms available. This was awful. I was dreading the stay the second time. But it actually was nice. Clean rooms with plenty of space. I loved the young man at the front desk- he was great. Breakfast was decent. The walls don't block a lot of noise. You can hear hallway traffic and the elevator. Stay at a quieter place if the power is out in Memphis.
The room was clean. The bed was pretty comfy. The internet worked well. The hotel staff were exceptional. It was a good location that was close to downtown and Rhodes College. The breakfast was good. The woman who helped with the breakfast was awesome!
Overall, worked out very well! Wasn't sure about safety of area, but was fine. Room was very comfortable! Small parking lot, but not an issue. Friendly staff. Plenty of places to eat a short drive away.
The hotel was very nice, clean and well-staffed, but its main selling point is its location and cost. It is only a 5 minute drive to Sun Studio and 10 to Beale Street. Given its price compared to downtown hotels, it's an excellent value.
The Hotel was located in the outskirts of town in crummy area. It was way too over priced because of the lousy location and minimal amenities($140/nite incl taxes...and that was with 10% discount). I stayed at 7 Best Westerns' on my 16 day trip and this one was the highest priced and wasn't even a "Plus" Hotel. Breakfast was the worst out of all the 7 we stayed at. It was clean though. I could have stayed at a Motel 6 for less than one third the price.
We had a lovely 3 night stay here! The hotel is clean and the staff are friendly. There are no major frills, but it has everything you really need in a hotel, if you are in town to go explore Memphis. (Plus, it includes a delicious breakfast!) It is about a $6 Uber ride to all the downtown fun, and there was never a shortage of drivers for pick ups. Or, if you want to ride the trolley for just $1, there is a stop just a short walk from the hotel. Unfortunately, it stops running at 6pm, but we always caught an Uber back in the later evening hours. The room itself was fresh and well cared for, with a chair w/ottoman, desk, small fridge and special lamps attached for bedside reading. My only complaint was that there wasn't a towel bar for the hand towel by the sink..... but c'mon! That really isn't a complaint now, is it? We would definitely visit again!
Great location to downtown sites, breakfast buffet service was amazing. Diana made us feel extremely welcome. Beds were high and comfy, but pillows were a little small. Nice sized fridge since we were traveling for several days.
While, in general, a nice property it is certainly misclassified as a Best Western Plus! It lacks the aspects we have come to expect in that classification. Our room was large, comfortable, and very acceptable. However, the lobby/breakfast area was quite small and cramped with limited seating. In addition, the breakfast offering didn't measure up to the standards we have come to expect from a Plus property. The exterior landscaping of the hotel is quite nice...better than we expected in that area of town. The advantage to staying here was the quick drive to "downtown" Memphis...only a few minutes plus it wasn't as expensive as staying right off Beale St.
Good location, felt safe. Close to downtown Memphis and Overton Square. The staff was friendly. The breakfast could be a little better. No pool but has a small workout room. Very close to the interstate.
This hotel did not compare in any way to any other Best Western Plus hotel we have stayed at. I don't understand how it achieved and holds that rating. The location was not convenient to find and I did not feel particularly safe in that area of town at night. The bed was comfortable with nice individual lighting. The breakfast selection was meager. The processed egg omelets and the sausage patties were both sitting in 1/2" water in the warming trays. Linda who checked us in was EXCELLENT with good recommendations for dinner. It would not be my choice to stay here again.
Wonderful place to stay.... all staff were the best...especially loved the lady that checked us in and the lady that set up breakfast... truly dedicated staff. They were helpful in finding us a place to eat dinner
The location was good for us because we drove, parking was good, close to Beale st, we drove there, parked, then walked. The hotel was clean. The bed was very uncomfortable. Way to soft, we stayed for 2 nites and I had a backache from the soft bed. Also we were on the 5th floor, maybe that was the reason we had no water pressure in the shower. The breakfast was ok. My husband loved the waffles. Not so sure I would stay again. Water pressure and comfy bed are important to me. Medium priced, $300.70 for 2 nites. Hope this helps
hotel is in hospital zone of Memphis. Very clean and sound proof hotel. beds are comfortable. We had an issue with our shower - where there was no water pressure. not sure if due to excessive rain and flooding in Memphis during our stay or if broken. Staff was wonderful, though at checkout and during breakfast that morning. Very good stay for the price and if water pressure issue is fixed would definitely recommend hotel.
Don't be fooled by the hotel size & the location. The room was excellent & super clean. Stayed on the top floor , so the water flow wasn't that great but it was ok. Hotel is very close to downtown & rate was excellent. You can get the shuttle to downtown across the street.
The location is perfect, Midtown...everything easily accessible. The average review is due to the beds...they were so high my husband had to literally pull me up on the bed each night! I am not short...just the beds are that high. Could use a step-stool.
From the outside, the hotel doesnt look very inviting, but once inside you will be surprised. From the friendly reception staff (Linda) to the size and cleanliness of the rooms, and the breakfast served up by Diana, this is a very good hotel. With lots of on site parking available aswell, it is very handy. Even if you do not drive the Trolley bus to take you downtown is across the road, and buses to take you all over the city stop a few blocks from the hotel. The downside is that it is quite remote, so you DO have to travel to get anywhere, and that includes going for dinner, though there are several good restaurants and bars nearby
We did not expect this hotel to be as nice as it was for a budget price check in went seamlessly, valet parking was very convenient, front desk staff even called our room once we arrived upstairs to make sure everything was OK. We enjoyed complimentary hors d'oeuvres in the bar lounge and very tasty cocktails the location was the best it could be within a couple of blocks from the river and a couple blocks from Beale Street so lots of entertainment right at our fingertips. The front desk staff was also very helpful with recommendations for dinner. Just there for one night but would definitely be amenable to booking this hotel again.
We stayed at this hotel as part of a package , we were not disappointed, the highlight was without doubt, Ms Dianna who served breakfast with a huge smile each morning and useful regard s tourist hints and tips The hotel itself was outside of the downtown area but on a reliable bus route. $1 fare for a single trip, a bonus for us Brits. The concierge was also very helpful with the booking of cabs and transfers to the Amtrak station. Rooms comfortable and a nice free breakfast make up the experience A word of caution however, on check in you will be asked for credit card details and a deposit of $100 , when we checked out as we had not incurred any charges, we did not receive a bill. On arrival home, my credit card showed the deposit being taken , I am now trying to get it back .
We wanted something close to downtown Memphis & this place fit us perfectly! Its a small hotel but was very nice! The rooms were clean, had a great breakfast every morning ready for us when we went downstairs. The Breakfast Hostess Diana is "DA BOMB" shes very friendly & always there to help with anything or just chat while your there! I would recommend this hotel if you want to stay close to downtown!
It was a delight to be greeted with a smile every morning from Miss Dianna. She helpful and talkative which made the morning very enjoyable. If anything a trip and stay at the Gen X is a must to meet Miss Dianna.
Very clean place, nice staff, comfortable beds. Not so pricey. Right near everything. Doesn't have a pool so wouldn't recommend it in warmer weather. They have DirecTV. Private parking. Nice lobby area.
Updated hotel with comfortable rooms and beds. Staff is very helpful as the hotel did not look like much on arrival. The property has been upgraded except for the elevator. Breakfast was fine and the young lady that took care of the breakfast service was great.
We are members of the Best Western reward program, so we try to stay at them when we can. This one was lower on our list of "best" ones to stay at. Cons: beds okay, a little high and difficult to get into. showers mediocre trouble with TV in one of our two rooms, was fixed in the morning asked for a wake up call the first morning, didn't get it heating system was screwy-set for heat, but got cold quite often. One of the evening staff members tried to fix it, but it never got better so we just turned it off phone in one of our rooms not very good tv in exercise room didn't work Pros: cheap prices The best pro: the breakfasts were pretty good: 2 kings of eggs, sausages, cold cereals, waffles, pastries/toast, fruit and yogurt. I have to eat gluten free, so I bought myself some cereal. The very best pro: The breakfast staff member, Diana, was amazing! She was always on top of getting things for us. She got me gluten free protein bars the second day and almond milk. She was always interacting with us and the other guests making us feel right at home. She was the best! I wish there were more like her at other Best Western's. I would have given another star just for Diana.
The room was clean and the staff was attentive. However, our tv did not work. When we reported that our TV didn't work to the front desk, staff was attentive and came to our room immediately. It took staff about an hour to fix the TV. Our final impression is that this Best Western is basic and slightly overpriced.
Good parking. Centrally located for seeing the sights ex: Beale St, Graceland, the Pyramid (Bass Pro Shop) and easy access on and off interstate if traveling by car. Would definitely stay here again when in Memphis.
Yes this is probably just an average hotel in not the best location -but it was more than adequate for us. It was comfortable and the staff were really pleasant - especially Diane the breakfast lady who was truly a sweetie! We walked into town - took around 50 minutes - possibly best to do that only in daylight - get a taxi back in evening. Believe me - pleasant staff make all the difference!! Yes and do ask for George if you need a taxi - they have his number in reception - an extremely pleasant and helpful/reliable chap!
Exterior is nondescript but inside is very nicely appointed. Very comfortable beds, fridge in room very handy. On the "trolley" line and next to I240. Rooms very quiet, no road noise. Staff very helpful. If there's a large group, go to breakfast early.
We had a layover that night and went to best western for the night. It was great and the staff was really awesome. You got a discount at the restaurants around there Just show your room key. They had a amazing breakfast that morning.
We stayed just three nights. Staff were helpful bed was comfy. Breakfast whilst complimentary was chaotic would suggest you collect and take back to your room as seating was limited. Location not great as you have to rely on taxis to go anywhere. 10$ at least and not always reliable. Trolley bus will run you to Main Street for a dollar but only runs until 6pm. For evening meal we went to Overton Square. 40 minute brisk walk but would strongly suggest you use the taxi.
Spent 3 nights in Memphis and this hotel was just fine. Not too far from Graceland or downtown. Right of the main road but back far enough not to be too noisy. Hotel itself was quiet to stay in as you didn't here other people through the walls or down the hall like some hotels with "paper thin" walls. Breakfast was very good with somewhere on duty to keep everything fresh and topped up.
Such amazing, friendly people. Beautiful breakfast every morning with hilarious and welcoming staff. Comfortable and clean rooms, and parking. Very good price for the location. So quiet despite being close to great places to eat.
It can be a bit of an exercise to find reasonably priced accommodation in a good location with great service and clean, comfortable rooms. This place ticks all these boxes. We found it after visiting Graceland and it is very conveniently located with plenty of secure parking. It's an easy drive to the Peabody or Beale Street for a night out and it's right at the 240 Expressway. Surely not the cheapest in town but the rooms are really nicely done, everything has been refurbished and the service is great, too. The Breakfast area is super small but that's just a minor inconvenience. There's a good selection to pick from and you'll find that there's always a helping hand around to restock and help out. Given that it's a Best Western Plus, I'll rate it as excellent within that category as it really is a cut above the rest I've seen so far. Everything just works.
This is a good location for the local attractions, staff very friendly & helpful. Price is definitely competitive for the area. Rooms clean, quiet, well-maintained. Breakfast was good, with plenty of variety. Motel isn't large, but it's in a safe area as well as being convenient. Would stay here again, no question.
Great hotel in a good location. (Only around 32 rooms, so it has a boutique hotel feel.) Not a great area to walk around in, but convenient to everywhere, and free parking. Very nice front desk help and a very nice daily breakfast in the lobby. Every employee I met was very accommodating and friendly. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to the Memphis area, and look forward to staying there again soon.
We spent two nights at this Best Western Plus hotel while we visited Elvis at Graceland, Sun Studio and Beale Street. This is a small hotel located just off the freeway close to downtown. Our checkin was pleasant with he receptionist friendly and helpful. Room was clean and well stocked. It appears this hotel was recently remodeled. Located in an older part of Memphis, moving around the streets was safe and easy. The hotel parking was secured with fencing all around. The included breakfast was adequate. The breakfast area was small but easy to work around. Servers were welcoming and made every effort to help.
The Gen X best western in Memphis is the safest place to stay. Whether with family or alone it is a class above the rest. The staff go out of their way to make you comfortable. The breakfast is included and is plentiful! The beds are so comfortable. I stay there whenever I visit my daughter in Memphis to do the ALS-Lou Gehrigs' walk.
We're definitely not of the Gen X population....more like the Senior Citizen segment of society. And, from the looks of the breakfast clientele the next morning, so were many of the guests this past Saturday evening! Room included a very comfortable king-sized bed, nice TV, free wi-fi, and free breakfast buffet the next morning. Sink was outside the bathroom which we hadn't seen for awhile but which makes getting ready in the morning easy for 2 people. Staff is very friendly and we'll stay there again! We particularly like that there is no smoking in the building, but noticed they've provided a nice outdoor area away from the front door for people who enjoy a cigarette.
Beside Graceland and Beale st. the other fun to do was to sleep at the BW. Gen X it made our trip more enjoyable. Bed were comfortable, the room was the perfect size for our size and very clean, was quiet and felt very secure. Most of all the staff were very pleasant. If was to go back to Memphis I would certainly return.
This is a smaller hotel with a warm and friendly staff. They made us feel very welcome! The room was a reasonable size, clean, comfortable. The location is not right in the downtown, but we easily walked to Sun Studio and even to Beale Street in the evening. There is adequate parking and the breakfast is served with a smile.
I would very much recommend this hotel to my family and friends. I is a great place to stay it was right where I needed it to be. It was no where from the events that I attended. Every time im in the area I stay at the Best Western. Nice, clean, and the most friendly staff.
Our room was quite spacious, the bed very comfortable, large bathroom, good location, staff friendly and helpful, everything and everywhere clean. About the only thing we didn't like were the breakfast eggs, very easily avoided. Would definitely stay there again
I came to this hotel at nearly midnight after leaving another hotel due to issues with my room. Upon arrival I was greeted very nicely and checked into my room very swiftly. My room was very clean and the bed was like sleeping on a cloud. It was so comfortable in fact that I overslept the next morning. The breakfast in the morning was pretty good and the muffins were fresh. This may be where I decide to stay every time I come to Memphis.
A clean and comfortable place. The staff was very accommodating and polite. The motel is a close and convenient car ride to downtown. There was plenty to do and see in Memphis and the staff was totally helpful in recommending local points of interest - highly recommend this place!
The Gen X Inn is my ONLY hotel of choice in Memphis! The staff is unparalleled, and the amenities are spot-on. They have updated the rooms since I last stayed here. The upgrades make this place all the better. They have a fenced, well-lit parking lot. Elise and Linda are AWESOME! You can't go wrong here.
Stayed at this hotel for first leg of our US trip in Memphis. Very clean, comfortable beds and friendly & helpful staff. Well located for access to downtown taxi travel circa. $10. Breakfast basic and same every day, but does the trick to set you up for day. All round nice hotel.
We booked 3 nights here as some reviews said it was close to the downtown area Well, it is a hike to downtown and we found out after first night that you can find parking in Memphis later in day without having to feed the meters. This is a really nice hotel, front staff and household help were so helpful and went out of their way to help you, if needed. Our room was on 5th floor, nice and big, clean as a whistle, with an inglorious view of the Interstate, but so convenient to all roads . Parking is free behind steel gate and fence. Breakfast lady tried to keep you happy and even showed me how to use the waffle iron, which I did and was sorry for making this huge waffle tire which I couldn't finish. The dining area is small and if it is busy in the mornings, you might have to wait, although you can get a cuppa coffee and sit in the area. The staff of the BW should be commended, they know how to keep patrons happy and service by all was excellent... Absolutely would stay here again.
Upon checking into the hotel the staff was nice and helpful. Our room was clean and roomy. Breakfast was good and staff at breakfast was kind and helpful too. The beds were awesome and comfortable. The driveway to the parking lot was a bit narrow but not a problem unless someone pulled in at the door and blocked the entrance to the parking lot. I would recommend this hotel to future visitors.
Not being familiar with midtown Memphis I trusted Tripadvisor and made a 5 day reservation at the BW GenX for orientation at University of TN HSC. I was not disappointed!!! The hotel was super clean, the continental breakfast was very good with fruit, boiled eggs, waffles, etc... and the staff was excellent!!!. The hotel parking is surrounded by a tall fence and I felt safe leaving my vehicle during the day and night. There is no swimming pool if you are looking for this but then it didn't matter to me. The only reason that it didn't get an "excellent" rating is that their were only 3 exercise machines and the treadmill was out of service all week in addition I was needing to print something and the printer was out of service all week as well. I did experience one night of new neighbors who had extremely loud small children who were yelling, crying and running down the hall. I called the front desk and this was immediately taken care of and thankfully those people checked out the next morning. There is not laundry available on site if you are needing this but the helpful attendant instructed me that there was one very close down the street. These issues are not going to deter me from staying there again when I have to return in December. If you are needing somewhere to lay your head while in Memphis then this is the place!!!
Chose to stay here during a long trip based on the reviews. It was exactly what I expected from a Best Western. It looks like the hotel has been updated recently. We got there much earlier than expected and we had no problem with an early check-in. Location is great as it was less than 10 minutes from all the popular Memphis tourist sites.
Have used this hotel MANY times, specially during events and have never had issues. They can get transportation quickly if needed and the rooms are always very clean and the staff is super nice. This is my favorite hotel to use when going downtown because it is close enough to enjoy, but just far enough to not have to hear everything afterwards.
We arrived later than expected but found staff very helpful. We were able to store bikes inside, get dinner ideas and directions to location. Although this plant is somewhat dated the staff more than made up for any short comings Breakfast was very good and attendant was there to help as needed. checkout was also a breeze. We will be back again
Hotel located just a few blocks from downtown medical district. The neighborhood is not the prettiest I have been in, but seemed calm enough. The facility is very clean, the rooms are a good size, and everything worked - pleasantly surprising. Beds are comfortable. The only thing I would ding is the unevenness of the desk staff - some were delightful and welcoming, others gave me the impression I should have booked somewhere else. Oh, well. There are no close food places, so plan accordingly. Overall, though, very pleased with my two night stay, and will definitely remember if travel returns me here.
When we checked in the lady was very short with me and seemed irritated by my presence. The elevator looked really old but the room itself was pretty nice. The location is quite good and parking was safe and plentiful.
I choose this hotel because it was close to the Memphis Zoo. (Our destination for a panda viewing.) The front desk staff were very helpful with directions to the zoo and to restaurants. The rooms were clean and nicely decorated. Beds were very comfortable but sat high up off of the floor. On the other hand, the commode in the bathroom was very low to the floor. (I was aware of this after having seen reviews on Trip Advisor but chose to stay here anyway because of location.) Breakfast was very good. Bottom line, if I were ever to come back to Memphis to visit the zoo,I would choose to stay here again.
This hotel is located in the heart of downtown Memphis, but is very well situated, and the parking area is protected with iron fencing. The inside of the hotel is well appointed, and the quality of the rooms is high. Our room had a refrigerator, the bed very comfortable, and we wanted for nothing.
This a great hotel for several reasons. Location is great for a medical visit ( our reason for travel to Memphis), close to the tourist areas, safe, clean, comfortable, and friendly staff. Parking is free and directly located in front of the hotel in a secure lot. The breakfast is very good, more like a buffet including a self service waffle maker.. perfect every time!
It was 98 degrees in Memphis and they were under a heat advisory the day we checked in -about 6:00 p.m. When we got to out room it was so hot we could hardly stand it!! We had a reservation and I would think that it could have been somewhat cool upon our arrival as it had been at the other 3 hotels we visited this week. We had to put ice water on a wash cloth to be able to stay in the room! Because it was so hot, It took about 3 hours for it to cool off! We had a pretty miserable night! My husband wanted to change rooms, but I knew we would be in the same situation!
Clean, friendly, very good price for the money. Location not very pleasing, right off main thoroughfare. Decent all included breakfast. Helpful staff. Rooms are updated. This is not 'your mamma's old Best Western.
This is a small but very lovely hotel in the Medical District of Memphis. We checked in late at night and the night desk clerk was very helpful and attentive to getting us checked in. our beds were so comfortable that I would have purchased the mattress and shipped it home if I could! The decor of the rooms were beautiful and very mid-century modern, which we love. That said, we were disappointed that the bathroom door and molding; the frame around the bathroom mirror; and the ceiling light fixture did not match the modern decor of the rest of the room. There was only one person handling the front desk and breakfast room responsibilities in the morning, which left things short handed and some breakfast items were not readily available. Finally, only one elevator was operating in the morning, which made if difficult to remove the luggage from our room and check out in a timely fashion. There was a rock band staying at the hotel, and they dominated the use of the elevator removing all of their luggage and band equipment in the morning. These were minor inconveniences which did not detract from our enjoyment of this lovely hotel. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others.
Nice quite area, close to everything. Mud River Park, Beale Street & Graceland. Comfy bed & good internet. Breakfast is muffins & waffles. Hotel is secure. Located right off freeway, easy to find. Would stay here again.
Stayed here three nights while on a Memphis vacation. MUCH smaller hotel than we expected, but good accommodations. The lot is fenced in and we always felt safe and the the parking lot signage was a good reminder that we are in Memphis. When you check in, there is a double set of doors that do not open automatically. Be prepared to walk through both to get to the front desk. There is a teller window between each door, but we never saw a desk clerk there. Also, be aware that the front desk clerk is also responsible for the breakfast room, so if you call the front desk in the morning, your call will not be quickly answered. All employees were nice and, given the great location and ease to everything (Memphis Zoo, Beale Street, hwy access to Bass Pro and Graceland), we will stay here again.
The hotel was nice, room was clean decorated nicely. Memphis doesn't seem very safe but this hotel had nice tall fencing around the entire parking lot and the only way in and out was past the front doors where you would be seen. Breakfast was pretty good the standard waffles, eggs, biscuits gravy, cereal, pastries.
For being a small facility this place was a great place to stay. It appeared as if they recently remodeled...very clean. The parking lot is fenced in and well lit. The location was very convenient as well.
I checked in and used a $50 travel card to pay for part of my stay but authorized a credit card for the full amount just in case. I noticed it was taking a bit for her to enter it in and another guest walked in so I said "you can check her in and redeem my travel card after that" and went up to the room. She called later and had us come down to the desk. She told me "number one don't you ever tell me how to do my job. Once you walked away I had to exit out of the travel card screen to help the next lady and your travel card only had 38 dollars on it. One time we had someone give us a travel card with nothing on it and they were an employee." By this time my blood is boiling I have never been disrespected like that before. I was in front of my friends and I was on vacation so I didn't let it get me all bent out of shape. I told her "I don't care if I am a best western employee, I am still your guest and you don't ever talk to me like that." She asked me how long I had been with bw and I said 3 years (as a salaried front desk manager and director of sales at an award winning property ranked #4 in the us and Canada at one point and a 7 time mk guertin award winning property). She said "well I've been here for 15 years and I'm menopausal and maybe I shouldn't have said anything." I was very cordial throughout the whole exchange but I will never recommend this property if they let their employees talk to their guests that way. If the general manager at our property heard me talking that way to a guest I would have been putting my job at stake.
This was a stop over while traveling to the gulf coast. the hotel was just fine for a stop over. Front desk was very friendly and helpful as we did do some sightseeing while in Memphis. Breakfast was very good and the rooms were clean and beds were comfortable.
Huge rooms! Daughter said that they reminded her of a dorm room with all the extras. Desk clerks were extremely helpful and gave directions to eating and things to do. Breakfast items were good and a nice area to eat small but sufficient for # of guests.
My focus in Memphis was the cathedrals, both located away from downtown and the dividing interstate. This hotel was close enough for a leisure walk to both, and still close enough (as well as on the Madison trolley line) to be downtown in 45 minutes. Staff were excellent, friendly and knowledgeable. Rooms were clean, big enough, with a mini frig, vanity area outside the toilet/tub/shower room. The reading chair and stool were extremely comfortable. Bed mattress had a pillow-top like feature, making it a little soft, but it was a very high sleeping platform. Breakfast was standard, but good.
Not down on Beale street but close to downtown and all museums and sights. Clean, pleasant. The staff was more than pleasant. Helpful to recommend local restaurants and genuinely good customer service. Absolutely recommend. Breakfast. Ok
When we arrived, there was no one at the desk and the front door was locked, so we were more than a little concerned. Eventually, the clerk did return, and check in was fine. The area is fine, the rooms are fine, the breakfast is fine. The entrance is a little strange, sort of liquor-store-with-bulletproof-glass-esque, but otherwise fine.
Nice good quality hotel, booked room online while on the road to Memphis from Alabama. Easy check in and check out, only a few minutes from Beale street. Pleasant Friendly staff, clean rooms, comfortable bed. Free breakfast, No pool. Would stay here again.
Breakfast was poor. Some lights did not work in our room. Staff was pleasant and welcoming. Bathroom in guest room was very small. Beds were tall and hard for elderly to get in to.T.V. in fitness room did not work.
My wife and I just ended a 2 week trip out to colorado and new mexico. We stayed the majority of nights in the Best Westerns across the country. As of 4 years ago, which was our last trip out west, they have improved their quality 1000%. We will stay at Best Westerns from now on if one is available, They are a very nice no extra frills hotel. The beds were always to our liking and we always felt safe in the hotels.
Best Western Plus Gen X Inn was easy to find. Our room and bathroom were clean and comfortable. Breakfast included a variety of foods: waffles, yogurt, cereals, eggs, juice and good coffee. It was a quiet location; easy to find the venues we wanted to visit.
We made reservations here for opening weekend of Memphis in May. When we checked in, the lady that helped us was very nice and knowledgeable, the lady that worked the late afternoon shift was friendly and helped us get a cab so we could take off to the weekend festivities. The rooms were very nice, clean and modern-looking. We were accommodated for a late check out, which was very nice to be able to sleep in late and leave later also. We managed to get a bite of breakfast; omelets were fluffy, sausage links were nice and yummy. Keep up the great work guys!
Second time staying at the Gen X and have to say it's one of my favorite hotels! Such polite and friendly staff who are at the top of their game with travelers' satisfaction!! Rooms are VERY clean and love that the sink is outside of the bathroom! Silly little thing to mention, but it makes getting ready with 2 people so much more convenient! King size bed was way more comfortable than my bed at home! Hotel must be well constructed, b/c I thing they were close to full when we stayed, but it was very quiet, and didn't hear loud noises from neighbors in the middle of the night, so that is always a plus!! Need to mention that their breakfast is also way tasty for any hotel breakfast that I have had (usually crappy continental, this has biscuits and sausage and eggs :D) All in all, especially factoring in the cost, my recommendation would be if you're coming to Memphis, I wouldn't stay anywhere else!!
We stayed here for one night on our way to Missouri. The bed was very comfortable, room was clean. The breakfast is typical of a Best Western. Eggs and sausage aren't great but are okay. Plenty of other things to eat...fruit, yogurt, biscuits and gravy, waffles, pastries, juice, etc. Overall very good. A taxi ride to Beale St is around $10 each way for two people. Central BBQ in Memphis is a great place to eat which was apparent by the constant crowd. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
This is an older building that has been updated with clean, comfortable rooms. It is conveniently located just off I-55, near downtown. I thought that perhaps it would be a bit noisy, being close to the highway, but it was very quiet. The staff is friendly and helpful, and Shaquille was the desk attendant on duty when we checked in and gave us some wonderful options for nearby restaurants for dinner. There was a good selection of items the next morning at the breakfast buffet. My only complaint would be that the lobby area where the breakfast dining is located is rather small, and seating is limited.
Great looking modern room, with fridge and coffee maker. Comfortable bed, nice bedding. The only disappointment was that they advertise that the they are "right on the trolley line". Which is true, but the trolley has not been functional for well over a year according to employees.. This was a big reason we chosethis hotel.
This trip to Nashville & Memphis celebrated a milestone birthday for my husband. Our hotel room was clean & comfortable, also quiet which is important for a light sleeper such as myself. We enjoyed the hot breakfast each morning.
Staying in Memphis for an event downtown can be a challenge - do you pay for a nice hotel, only to pay more for parking each day? Or, find a nice hotel just a few miles from the heart of Memphis, and talk a long walk or call for a ride? I chose the latter. This hotel, first of all, is not the Marriott, Hilton, or Peabody. It is a Best Western, and it is not a 4 or 5-star hotel. That said, the hotel was great - the parking lot is secure, so one way in and out, the building itself requires a keycard to get in after hours, it is located east of downtown right across I-240, and if you are up for it, it is a manageable, 1.9-mile walk to Beale Street, or just hail a ride-sharing service. The rooms were adequately furnished, DirecTV, flat-screen, armoire, pillow-top mattress, and plenty of space. The breakfast is just your standard hotel faire, so if you are looking for a decent breakfast, find you a good local place. Otherwise, I will be staying here again on return trips.
We stayed here for business for 2 nights--the staff was very pleasant, the room was very nice with a comfortable bed. The complimentary breakfast offered several choices and was very good. The hotel is located near downtown in a great location and easy to find nearby attractions. We would stay here again when we come to Memphis!
Clean, tidy and comfortable. Staff were very friendly. Breakfast was nice also, beds very comfortable and clean..ive read some negative reviews here. Either it's a different hotel, or this one has upped it's game. Recommendation - if you ask the desk to book a cab, and are told it's a red and white cab driven by george, cancel it and request another company. Cost way more than another company who took us back. Yellow cabs I think.
Found the following on the floor of our room and bathroom: a half-eaten pretzel, a Q-tip full of ear wax, and a bra. There were also items under both the bed and sink, but I didn't retrieve them. Found a used needle under our car in the parking lot in the morning. Enough said.
Booked hotel during recent trip to visit Memphis attractions , not as close to downtown as we would have liked but room was clean and comfortable . Rooms are a great size, much bigger than the Sheraton we had stayed in the night before. Breakfast was good. This area (as many in Memphis) can be a little shady at nighttime so be sure to not leave valuables in your vehicle. Hotel staff very friendly Would recommend this hotel for Memphis area.
We were very pleased not only with the convenient location of the hotel, but with the hotel itself. The rooms were clean and well appointed. The beds were comfortable. The hotel staff that we dealt with were nice, friendly and helpful. The hotel was usually quiet and outside noise was minimal. The breakfast was adequate, the eating area was nice and clean. We would consider staying here again if in the area.
Nice, clean hotel. Not the Marriott, but perfect for a good night sleep. The beds were really comfortable. Fitness Center was okay, it had 3 newer cardio equipment. Unfortunately no free weights. A few would have been great!
This was an interesting hotel--perhaps a converted building from some prior use. friendly desk people, and in a convenient location in the midtown area. I found the price to be a little more than I wanted to pay, but overall the experience was good.
Overall, our stay here was pleasant. Breakfast area is spacious and they offered a good variety of items. Our room was comfortable and the wifi was good. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the downtown area. I appreciated the extra security that the fencing provided around the parking lot and that the only entry into the hotel was via the front door.
Close to Graceland. Small hotel but very comfortable room. Decor was pleasing to the eye. Comfortable bed and clean. Breakfast was good with good variety. Friendly helpful staff. Would highly recommend.
We stayed at the Best Western on Madison Ave. Access to get to and from the hotel was great. The front desk personnel were very helpful in recommending a local restaurant and getting us directions to our other destination in Memphis. They even printed out maps for us to get to that destination.
For the price you get a clean and reasonably spacious room in a compact hotel with design elements focused (presumably) on Gen Xers. Breakfast and the health room are sufficient. The hard flooring surfaces in the hallways transmit more noise than normal, and street noise can be an issue; use the HVAC as a noise filter. Having the sink separate from the toilet & tub is helpful, especially if you are staying with kids / teens.
We spent one night at this hotel on our visit to Memphis. The location is awesome. A $6 taxi ride to Beale Street. Also within walking distance of Sun Records. The rooms were very clean. Breakfast was free and plentiful. The staff were friendly and helpful.
The staff was warm and friendly. The room was huge and very comfortable. Breakfast was great. Close to interstate. Would certainly stay here again and recommend to friends. Hotel clerk recommended a great place for dinner with easy directions.
Very nice room for the price, clean, had a fridge. The bathroom could have used a heater as it was kind of chilly. Front desk staff was very nice and helpful. Breakfast was good for this class of hotel.
My wife and I needed a hotel in Memphis due to family medical reasons. Other hotels in the area were very expensive and required a parking fee. The Best Western Gen X was competitively priced and located. The hotel was updated. The rooms were inviting and clean and the bed and pillow were comfortable. I would stay here again.
Our daughter had surgery at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis and we stayed at Gen X. When making reservations I was given the medical rate, which was extremely reasonable compared to other places in the area. The Gen X was very clean and everyone we encountered was very accommodating. The hotel is one block from the Medical District. Definitely would stay again!
This hotel is safe, clean and very comfortable. The staff is great and the hotel has an enclosed fence which add to security. The price is great. The complementary breakfast is ok. The lobby and dinning area is small but you can take your food to your room. There are only 32 rooms in this building which is great because you will not have the noise. I will stay here again. The rooms are large and the beds were great much better then some rooms, that I paid much more for. Free parking, other hotel near by are at least 30.00 per night.
Check in/out warm and professional. The lady at the desk, on our arrival, was very polite and she's been very usefull when we needed help to use the tv. The hotel is quite large, with rooms located on 4 stores. Our room was on the 4th floor. Everything seemed clean, but the morning we left, we saw a dead cockroach in the aisle. Disgusting! Make up removers were provided. WiFi was well working. Standard breakfast was included in our rate. On weekdays breakfast stops at 9.30 am. Hotel offers a wide parking lot. Not far from downtown, by car. A little noisy in the morning due to the location on Madison Avenue.
Good value: Rooms were large, had a fridge, once the direct TV was up had good channel selection and the Wi-Fi was fast enough. They didn't wow us like a higher end hotels but for their class they compete well. Nice to have free parking. Would be an even better location once the trolley is back in service.
We stayed one night on our way south. This is a bit different from the usual BW motel- more of a boutique motel in some ways. Decor was a bit more modern- lime green paint and jazzy carpets. Good fun. In all other respects it offered the same high standards as one expects from BW motels. The room was very comfortable, quiet, clean, very modern and well furnished. A good range of TV programmes. Breakfast was fine- the dining room was bright and clean and with a good choice of food. Location was good for downtown, just a short car ride away. Our receptionist was very slick and pleasant.
We were coming in from 2 different states to be there for my mother's surgery. I had to go back and forth with changes in our plans several times and the staff was extremely accommodating and helpful. It made my situation so much easier to handle. I've been in the hotel industry myself and THIS experience was exactly what I hope my guests got from me. PLUS...the beds were fantastic! Shaquille, Lori and Linda...thank you all so much for your extra effort and care to help me and my family with this trip. I will return to this property the next time we're in Memphis!
very clean, very quiet, bed very comfortable. staff very helpful and friendly. enjoyed our stay.parking lot well lit. walk to fast food or sit down dinning.short drive to down town and beale st. Barely a mile walk to beautiful Victorian village over on adams blvd.beautifully maintained and restored historic homes of that era.
The hotel was clean but the exterior and the halls need some renovation, as they look old. The front desk clerk mentioned we could exit through any door but only enter through the front door, which made us concerned about the safety of the area. The location was very convenient to attend a play at the Orpheum, but I would rather recommend a hotel at walking distance, since finding parking close to Beale street can be tricky. We did that last time and I think we will do it next time. Breakfast was NOT good. The eggs tasted too much like egg and there was not a huge variety. There might be other options for the same price that are better.
This is an older property but that is the only negative thing about it. The staff was very friendly. The bed was extremely comfortable, (we didn't want to get up!) Our room was spacious and very clean. Great hot shower and pressure. All for a reasonably price! We would definitely stay here again!
Our room was clean. Staff was very pleasant. The breakfast with excellent coffee. It was the perfect location for attending the Liberty Bowl. It was exactly what we were hoping for and we would stay there again.
Booked the Gen X Inn for one night, passing through Memphis. The cost was very reasonable and the room, while showing some wear, was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The service, from check-in to check-out was excellent and the location is a short Uber ride from Beale Street's music and restaurants. A very pleasant stay.
My husband and I stayed two separate times at this hotel and enjoyed our stay. I loved the fact that it is a small hotel with an excellent and caring staff. The 2 queen bed rooms are much wider than the king rooms and are worth the difference in price. The breakfast is a standard breakfast with great coffee. The beds are very comfortable. The location is very close to the Memphis Methodist Hospital which was essential for us. Thanks again to the staff for a wonderful stay.
My experience was outstanding: making reservation, checking-in, the room, help finding a restaurant, and checking out. Much better than other hotels I have stayed at in Memphis. The hot breakfast was very good, with omelets, waffles but no meat. I plan to stay here when in Memphis.
Took family on a business trip. Hotel is small in stature however it is great. It was very clean and the room was large. Breakfast was standard BW set up Staff very friendly. Parking lot is small but we had no problem finding a spot. Would stay here again. One of the better BWs I have stayed at
I am shocked by the favorable reviews of this hotel. From the moment we walked into the tiny vestibule and had to be let into the small, dark lobby the whole place gave off a vibe of sad and depressing. Quite frankly, if we hadn't checked in so late we would have left. The online photos are very misleading. Did I mention small? And dark? I don't think they used higher than 40 watt bulbs anywhere in the place. The hallways are narrow, the elevators only hold 3 people comfortably. The room size was adequate but the sink is in the room. Literally on the same wall as the TV. No divider, no around the corner. My husband was watching me brush my teeth while he watched the tv. The room that houses the toilet and tub was so small & dark it was crazy. Also the door locked every time it shut & was a bear to open even if you were inside. We had to call the desk to open the door with a key! The chair cushions were completely worn out & when you sat down your bottom hit the chair frame. Did I mention the hair pick that fell out from between the ottoman & the chair when I went to sit down? The sheets were clean on the beds but the comforters were riddled with yellow stains of undetermined origin. Luckily they were sandwiched between layers of sheets. Also, while it was unseasonably warm we turned the window unit to full ac but the room never cooled down. It was quite a warm evening in a room where none of us wanted to sleep without full pjs & socks due to the questionable cleanliness of the beds. The breakfast was the least of its type I've ever had. I will say that the two ladies we talked to on check in and check out were very pleasant. That's the only nice thing I can say about this stay.
This is a good hotel that is very close to downtown and therefore fairly convenient. I would not say it is in the best part of town but it is right off the highway and we did not feel unsafe. However, it was a little unnerving to see an apparent homeless young man walk up to the outside cigarette smoking deposit bin, open the base, pull out a butt, stick it in his mouth, light it, and walk on down the street. Staff was helpful and friendly.
Was glad to see so many channels on the tv. short taxi ride to Beale street. easy off and on express way. fenced in parking, Nice room, comformtable bed. clerk at check in Linda I think, was very helpful and suggested a taxi ride rather than drive down to Beale street where parking in mostly paid lots. Will stay there again if in town.
This is the smallest Best Western I've ever seen. The people are very nice and the whole place is very clean. Really nice beds. They even wash the hallway floors. Breakfast is the usual Best Western fair, but food is pricey in Memphis so free is good. Good location, only a couple of blocks from the Trolley Station, or a short drive to Beale St.
Had a clean, small room. Typical BW free breakfast--breakfast area was small. Convenient to downtown. No restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. Staff was helpful and pleasant. Good value. Would probably try another hotel on another visit though.
Every part of our stay was great. Check in provided us with tourist information and a bus schedule to get downtown. Room was comfortable and clean and spacious. Breakfast great. We ordered in food the the front desk called before letting them up. The staff cared about us and ensured our comfort. It was obvious they were proud of their hotel. Right on the trolley route. Can't beat $1 to get downtown to Beale street.
I was there for a business trip and every aspect of the stay to be pleasant. Location was very close to everything, and for a small hotel fit well for my travel. Had a very clean room and that is something that can be appreciated by everyone.
We stayed there after visiting Graceland. It was a nice place. The front end staff was very helpful and i found the beds comfortable. They have a pool but i didnt use it. The Wi fi works really well also. Overall a good place to stay!
Booked this Hotel as a lot cheaper option than overpriced ones in town centre. Location was a short drive or cab ride from Beale Street and although walking would be an option, I wouldn't feel confident doing so after dark from what I saw. The hotel itself is modern and clean, staff friendly and helpful and excellent value for money
Hotel staff were very pleasant. Large, clean rooms and 24 hr front desk service, video surveillance in parking lot with free parking. Breakfast consisted of cereals, both hot and cold, waffles, fruits, eggs, sausage, biscuits, muffins and yogurts. Great coffee. Located close to Beale street, $6.40 for a cab ride. Great rate for a hotel so close to all the attractions.
Stayed in this hotel for two nights it is a little outside of the centre but free parking, breakfast, wifi and rooms lovely and clean. The staff were very helpful and always happy to help and advise on things to do in the area.
My husband and I recently stayed at Gen X Inn for our anniversary trip. It was our first time to Memphis. We were warmly greeted by Lynda upon check in and she was very helpful with directions and must see things to do while in Memphis. She was so nice every time we saw her and really enjoyed her fun spirit! Breakfast was wonderful every morning. The location was central to everything we did and we got around town with little to no problems. The room was very clean and comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will book there on our return trips. Great experience!!
We videoed Memphis for a weekend. Our hotel was very nice. It had off street parking and the parking lot had security cameras. The room was clean and the staff was very nice and helpful. I was so happy about our stay and I can't wait to go back to Memphis. We will cider again.
The rates of the hotels downtown Memphis are very high to me, so I decided to stay at this hotel, which turned out to be a very good decision. A front desk lady (I can't remember her name now; sorry for her!) was always friendly and very helpful to customers incluing me. The facility itself was not especially excellent, but the excellency of the workers is a value of this hotel. And that makes this hotel extremely confortable and worth to stay. I stayed two nights this time, and any small lack of amenities was quickly cared. I will definitely stay at this same hotel again next time I am in Memphis.
This hotel is located about 2 miles from Center city in Memphis. It is about 8 miles from Graceland. Clean, Quiet, and the check in staff was very helpful with information. Breakfast is available at no cost to those who stay at the hotel. Standard Best Western Breakfast of cereal, Bacon, Eggs, Sausage, fruit. Daily newspapers available. Free high speed internet in the room. Parking is free as well.
This is usually our fav place to stay but this last time it has really went down. The hotel was still safe area to stay. Quiet place to stay, and easy to navigate the town. The hotel was kept clean and always felt it was kept up, but the breakfast was not worth any money at all. The food was low quality and coffee watered down. The big issue was the towel--only hand towels when we checked in and we had to wait on more to be brought to us. The next day after we came back to the room we had LESS hand towels. Instead of bringing us more, they took back. We were given one hand towel and two bath towels No extra soap...I would understand if I was staying in a mom/pop place for $40 but not at the price we paid. We will have to find a new fav ... too many service cuts
The room was spacious and clean. It's close to downtown. Upon arrival the young man on the desk organised a tour for us for the next day. The next day they held our luggage so we could visit Graceland. We found all the staff were helpful and friendly. We had a very good experience.
Stayed over night on a trip to new orleans. Very clean and up to date rooms. Helpfull front desk clerck. Short cab ride to beale st. Nice breakfast. Overall very pleasant stay. Rates are more then reasonable for the accommodations.
My wife and I stayed at this hotel for one night in July as a stopover on our roadtrip. The hotel was easy to find and there was a significant amount of spaces in the free car park. The receptionist who booked us in was extremely helpful and recommended some places to eat if we traveled outside of the restaurant or wanted food delivered to the room. The hotel offered no evening meal but it did have a cupboard stocked with crisps and sweets for sale. Breakfast was a selection of cereals, bread and pastries and was adequate. A different receptionist checked us out and again was extremely pleasant and helpful. We were glad to leave Memphis but while staying at the Best Western Plus X we felt us and our car were relatively safe.
