Best Western Plus Dockside Waterfront Inn

There were stains, hair, and bugs on our sheets and when first walked in there was a industrial fan left in the room and crumbs on our TV guide. The staff seemed annoyed with me and I was just tire of the entire thing this was a spur of the moment get away with my wife and we ended up getting a different hotel.

Their was No breakfast. No coffee. No pool No hot tub. No wifi. Was not happy called corporate. Said would look in to it. Owner owns most of the Hotels in Town so stay across the bridge. NEVER WILL BE BACK AND WILL TELL ALL!! Never received refund for not have any of the amenities. They advertise on the website that they have all of that and Do NOT!!

The “ hotel” is more of a motel. You walk right up to your room from the outside. That is not clearly advertised on any of the materials when booking. We stayed one night and checked out but was charged for two nights. The front desk person acted uninterested in anything customer service related so that's a false statement on their description. Then the manager came out with a less than accommodating attitude. Customer service does not exist here. Simply DON'T GO!!

I was disappointed with this stay, mainly because there was a discrepancy with my bill and some guy stepped in like he wanted an argument when I was checking my emails. I wasn't being rude, just confused. Anyone, including " Mr Authority" would check their records to verify and you have every right before handing over hard earned money. Also, we were staying at the end of the season and no maid service was available. I didn't know this before checking in. That alone does not totally ruin a stay, but it would be nice not to reuse towels and also to have soaps and coffee replenished. The water was not hot and seemed to take a while to warm up a little. Breakfast was not really good, either.

The location was great- close to shops, restaurants, and the ferry. The breakfast was location required you to walk outside in order to get to the building. We stayed in October so it made for a very brisk walk. The room was nice. Our room had a jacuzzi in it which was nice. The room was a bit cramped, but that was to be expected since it had a jacuzzi. The restaurants around the area had open signs on, but either didn't serve food or weren't actually open. Lighthouses and the bridge were within a 5-10 minute drive which was cool. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

The room was good. I have no complaints but I was lied to by the lady at the front desk on duty for October 12. I am a Best Western Platinum member and when I checked the website it said I was short 2000 points which I purchased but went back to book the room and the option to book with points was gone. I called the hotel and she said there was no way it was only 24 000 points. It is 36000 points. I called corporate and it was in fact 24000 points and she booked the room on my behalf. When I arrived I explained that and asked for an upgrade for my troubles and was told it was booked. I checked the website and the upgraded room was not booked and the vacancy side was lit up. I was just asking for a lakeview over courtyard view. Anyway, I don't like being lied to. Just be honest and say I'm sorry but I can't do that. That turned me off. The hotel itself is fine and I think it would a nice place to stay in the summer. Beautful beach and a great location. Too cold to take advantage of when i was there.

Me and my girlfriend woke up in the morning and there was ants in our bed and in the drawer next to the bed and all they did is apologize. They didn't even offer to refund some of my money. If they refunded my money and did more about it i might give it another couple stars.

This is an older hotel, but you can tell someone works really hard to keep it in great condition. None of the staff was especially friendly, but mainly the African-American woman with the blonde hair, VERY MEAN. She also seemed to be sick, sniffling and stuff. That made us a little nervous, since we had to touch room keys after she handled them. The man wasn't real friendly, but he did give us a tip on discount tickets for the ferry, so we appreciated that. The staff really could use a vacation, perhaps somewhere in the south or across the pond, for some etiquette lessons.

We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights the first week of October. It worked out very well. We enjoyed a spacious 4th floor room overlooking Lake Huron. Waking up to the sound of the waves and seagulls is magic! The views from the balcony are stunning. We enjoyed watching the ferry's go back and forth to the island. This hotel enjoys a great location in a walkable area. My husband uses a walker and has difficulty with stairs so we were unable to take advantage of the free breakfast. It was just to difficult to access. The elevator in the building worked out perfectly for our other needs. Our room was clean and comfortable. The entire building could probably use an update, but we'd definitely stay here again!

This hotel is fantastic! The price was great, the personnel were amazing and the rooms are excellent! The breakfast, each morning, was wonderful and this place is centrally located in Mackinac City! We definitely recommend this place for a stay while visiting Mackinac City and Mackinac Island!

Bed was comfy. Good selection for breakfast. Enjoyed the pool. Water was too cold for swimming so relaxed on the deck and watched the boats and birds. Ferry , shops and restaurants within walking distance.

Waterfront location was a definite plus. Having the lake view was a relaxing feature for sure. Waking up each morning to the sight and sound of the lake and having the view overlooking the beach and water was a perfect and tranquil experience.

As a long-time Best Western Rewards member, staying at many, many Best Western hotels in the last 50 years, I can state from comparative experience that the check in at the Best Western Plus Dockside in Mackinaw City, Michigan was the worst ever. Three people were on duty, but with a greeting from any of them being totally absent. The desk person handling my check in acted bored (nay offended) with my being there. She asked to see my ID, and I replied “Do you want me to remove it” from the protective case in my billfold? No reply. I had a credit card out as most hotels ask for this for any incidental charges made during the stay. “Would you like this?” I asked. Again no reply. I was given a quick look at the hotel map to show where the room was located, on second floor at the farthest point from the lobby, but was there any explanation of where the elevator was to transfer luggage to the room? No time for that apparently. As it turned out, the elevator was down a ramp, inside a passageway, behind a corner, and under the stairs. Another guest had to show us where it was. Any explanation of Wi-Fi login procedure? If you've read this far you have the answer and it is “NO.” A brief comment about breakfast times, but served where? Anybody's guess. The room itself (once we got there with guidance from the friendly fellow guest) was fine, but the entire experience was framed in terms of the extremely negative attitude of front desk staff. The street where the hotel is located is lined with Best Western competitors whom I can bet know how to treat guests with courtesy and respect. Next visit I'll surely stay at one of those. You should too.

There have to be better options. We had a regular room, not the lake front room. The room was dark and dated with old furniture and dark colors. It was clean to the hotels credit. But it was depressing. There was an outside door to the room and inside was the entrance to two rooms. I'm sure it was probably secure but it didn't feel like it. The breakfast was pitiful as others have said. Few choices and many items were not refilled. The check in staff were unfriendly and a poor impression started from the beginning. Along the same road were several hotels that looked more modern and updated. I'm sure you could find a better option.

We were promised a two night stay with the understanding that we would need to switch rooms on the second night. When we went to the front desk at 11:00 AM as instructed on the second morning to get our new room key, we were told there were no rooms available and that the reservation for the second night had never been made, even though we had made that arrangement the day before. When we questioned the person at the front desk, who also happened to be the same person we had originally spoken to, she told us that we hadn't actually made the reservation…what???? The staff was rude, dismissive, and most unhelpful, and we were really disappointed to think that Best Western would have people like that representing them. What a terrible example of positive customer service, we will not be back and will most certainly not recommend this hotel. Our room was fine, but it did have a dehumidifier running intermittently throughout the night. Good news for us is that after having to pack up our belongings, we found a wonderful hotel down the street with a very helpful professional person working at the front desk, which saved the trip to Mackinaw City for us.

The place looks run down and exterior looks in need of repairs and painting. Breakfast is not good at all, somebody sets it up then nobody is around to refill anything empty or clean up the cereal all over the counters. Pre-packaged foods, some nasty looking apples… staff hanging around the laundry area constantly on their phones and joking around and visiting with friends who drive up in cars. These folks are not particularly friendly either… tons of seagulls who are fed by stupid guests causing excessive noise and even more poop.

Have stayed there every year for quite a few years and have always had a positive experience. Very nice rooms and clean. Helpful staff in checkin. Upper floor views are spectacular. Outside could use a little updating but the parking lot is always full.

Nice rooms, workers were friendly, conveniently located. Walkable to main tourist shopping area. I was impressed by the decor given Mackinaw Cities' “remote” location and the hotel's reasonable prices.

This is a very old property and has not been kept up. We got stuck in an old room with hot tub..awful atmosphere. The person checking us in was frazzled and rude. The first morning we stopped by office to ask about if there should be a notice on door to clean room. The young lady slapped a paper on the counter and told us we had gotten it when we checked in. We had not. The paper stated that if cleaning service or clean towels were desired you were to request by 8 a.m. I asked if we could please get clean towels at least and she grudgingly agreed(this is 9:30 a.m.) we left for day and upon return at 5 p.m. no towels. Talked to girl at front desk, not same girl as in the morning, and she was very accommodating and helpful

This hotel could be gorgeous. There were boxes stored everywhere. The breakfast area was a joke of a breakfast and the kitchen was boxes from top to bottom, if you are going to use your kitchen. As storage at least close the door. Nothing was restocked at breakfast, coffee was empty, milk was empty, cereal was empty, muffins gone. The lounge area before the pool could be amazing, but it's also being used as storage. Boxes, broken down furniture, and bins of towels line the way as you walk to the pool. We stayed in the large two room suite and for $600+ a night I would expect to be able to sleep. The beds, all four of them, were so uncomfortable that we contemplated sleeping in our car. It is insane how hard the beds were. This hotel could be so much more, the grounds are actually beautiful, just pick up and for God's sake use a storage room for all the boxes and extra towels instead of stacking them everywhere. The cleaning staff also seemed to hate the consumers walking around. I

Loved the location of this hotel. Within walking distance to restaurants and attractions. The staff was very friendly and offered good ideas for things to see and do while in town. Our room overlooked the beach and lake. We had a beautiful sunrise photo opp right from our balcony.

This is a nice place that is close to shops and the ferry dock. We could walk to both and not have to get in the car. It was clean, comfortable and quiet even though our first floor room was in and alcove across from the ice machine. Breakfast was about what you would expect, but it was the exact same selections both of the mornings we were there. I got a better rate by booking through the Mackinaw City Tourism so I would stay here again on our next trip.

We were very impressed with the cleanliness and comfort of our lakefront room. The staff checking us in were very friendly and helpful. The room was perfect. We will definitely be back to this property!

Room smelled musty, cob webs on lamp shades, tv didn't work, desk personnel rude and unfriendly. Would not stay there again or recommend to anyone. Too little value for way too much money. Just a very unpleasant stay.

While the hotel itself is nice, the staff have a lot to be desired. They are rude! That even included the manager. Employee giving out a false name and manager didn't even care. When we checked in they were all standing there waiting for us like there was going to be a fight. Won't be going back!

Nice variety and choices for breakfast. Rooms clean and comfortable and the views spectacular. Access to beach and perfectly located close to everything. Staff helpful and courteous. Will definitely return.

Friendly staff, with a very clean Facility! Hotel was centrally located and within walking distances to all attractions! The included free breakfast was excellent, with a variety of hot and cold entrees.

Everything you need for a great stay! Right on the beach with a LOT of food options within walking distance. The bridge isn't far either. Rooms need updated or at least a coat of paint to brighten them up. For the price we paid we expected something more modern. It wouldn't stop us from returning though. Staff and service were great!

If you use points to pay, you get the worst room available. Even at a platinum member, you don't get a bottle of water. All requests are denied, no extra towels, no room service, no fast checkout. No matter what I asked for I was told we can't you paid with points. The breakfast was just as bad. Juice was watered down to extend how many servings and the food was cold. TV was not functional, and since I paid with points, no one showed up to fix it. The grab bar was defective and I almost fell when it gave way. If you must go there pay the rate and maybe get better service.

Motel is in disrepair. Breakfast was a joke with cold pancakes, cold ham, and overcooked hard boiled eggs. Only good thing about this motel was the beach. The location was decent, less than a mile from town. I'm sorry I stayed here and would not recommend it.

Enjoyable stay. Exceptionally clean and comfortable. Friendly and most helpful staff. Plentiful breakfast. And the views amazing. Really enjoyed our first visit to Mackinaw City on our honeymoon. The staff really helped us plan our days and gave us great recommendations for dinner.

Had a very enjoyable stay. Our room was right on the beach and had a nice patio. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was plentiful and such a lovely dining area. Will certainly recommend and return.

Not bad if you don't mind sharing the room with spiders. Also, it's classed as a hotel, but it is a motel. The room is spacious. I got a lakefront room, and the view is beautiful. The balcony is tiny and barely fits the patio furniture. The ac unit was turned off and the room was super hot. It took more than half an hour to cool off the room.

Older facility but love the pool and hot tub. Price is way too high even for a special event like Corvette Cross Roads. Breakfast makes you wish you had eaten out. It is a convenient location for our Corvette show.

This place should be torn down and a new one built in its place. They are gauging people for what is essentially a motel. So disappointed with the smelly old gross room. Beds were incredibly uncomfortable. Asked for adjoining rooms and did not even get that.

For paying $300 a night on a week night and spending a few nights, it was not worth the cost. At that rate I expected better quality. The only thing I liked about the hotel was the location. The room was a little out dated which I could have dealt with but walls are super thin, the person was stomping for hours each night including waking me up from the stomping. Nothing was done and continued the second night too. Breakfast was subpar. Not a lot of options and very disappointing. Didn't interact with staff much except for checking in which they seem to be in a hurry to get you out of there, even though no one else was behind me. When I asked about the ferry she pointed me to a price sheet and said you can take a pic of it and look at it later and come back later if you want to buy a ticket, even though it did not answer the question I asked. No rewards bag given at check in like ever other BW hotel i have been to. Overall, for the rate of this hotel it was not worth it and I will stay at another next time I am in town. Seemed like they were doing the minimum they had too and cheaper out on everything they can.

Rooms were dark, gloomy and outdated. My bathroom door wouldn't close and my morning coffee had things floating in it. I showed pics to the front desk no apology just a nod someone from maintenance will come to fix the door and she will have house keeping come and look at the coffee machine . Door was fixed quickly noone Came for the coffee machine. Breakfast is the worse I have ever been too. Very low quality . beach was nice to have at the hotel but I will never stay there again.

Hotel is old in need of an upgrade. When you reserve a 2 room suite, you would expect 2 bathrooms, or at least 2 sinks and 2 mirrors. The breakfast buffet was poor at best. The vending machine on our floor did not work.

It was terrible. I was totally disappointed in the room we booked vs. what we received. I was totally disappointed in the cleanliness, upkeep, room service, front desk personnel, the whole experience. I would NEVER recommend this hotel to anybody to stay. The pool and the location were excellent. The breakfast was terrible.

I wish I could say it was great but this hotel, like many in the area, are dated and in need of some updating. The front staff were not inviting or friendly at all and that would be ok if they were in a non-public facing role but as front desk staff, i would at least expect a warm welcome. I am disabled and they put me on the 4th floor facing a drainage tube leading into Lake Huron.. kinda disappointing place.

This property was clean and well-situated near downtown Mackinaw City and conveniently located between 2 ferry options to Mackinac Island. Parking wasn't a problem, the rooms were well-stocked with toiletries, and the fridge size was perfect for drinks and snacks. Staff was very friendly!

Room is dark with poor lighting & only window into corridor where pedestrians walk by. Looks much better in pictures than in reality.. location is good if you are getting lake view. Otherwise, save money & stay nearby nicer place.

Food was cold on the buffet and there were no hot eggs on buffet. Tables were dirty we had to clean one before we sat down. There were empty containers also on the buffet. The room was also very hot and stuffy.

Nice lake side room, close to ferry and downtown shops... HOWEVER, WE WERE IN ROOM 415 AND THE FAN WAS CONSTANTLY TICKING LOUDLY ALL NIGHT THE AIR CODITIONER WAS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. CALLED MAINTAINENCE AND THEY DID COME AND TRIED TO FIX THE PROBLE BUT IT STIL WAS TICKING THE NEXT NIGHT. Advised the manager and he said he could not do anything regarding taking some money off for the inconvenience of the fan. Call customer service and was told the same information. Was looking for a slight adjustment in the bill since I paid close to $800 for two nights and to hear that fan all night was indescribable.. Will never stay at at Best Western again.....

Rooms were in need of updating. Lights were burned out in some of the lamps and the overhead lights. The tub/shower was very old and stained. There was a smashed spider on the ceiling above the vanity along with some live spiders. The carpet beside one of the beds smelled of urine. The railing on the balcony was not very stable. There was no microwave or safe in the room. The continental breakfast was a joke, one of the worse I have seen. I certainly don't feel I deserved the value for the price I paid for the hotel room (almost $1,400 for 3 nights).

Our lakeside room had a beautiful view! The beach was clean & well maintained. The location is great! We didn't need to drive much. We left the car in the hotel parking lot, then walked all around Mackinaw City. It's within walking distance to both ferries, or a person could use a hotel shuttle if needed.

Never again! Place is ok, if but a 1/3 of the price, lakeside view sucks, $670 two nights, here?, save your money and just stay somewhere else, all the shopping and docks to ferries within walking distance. We continued to Traverse City stayed at a wonderful resort on the bay cheaper and they treated us exceptionally well!! Actually very happy. Staff was mediocre at best, just that was a huge waste of money

Wasn't thrilled with the condition of this hotel. However it was fairly clean, staff was great, pillows n mattress comfortable. The whole plc inside and out needs a lot of care. Our options were limited. This was the only hotel that had a room with a sofa bed to accommodate 2 adults and 3 kids. I would stay there again only for that reason if nothing else is available.

Great last minute deal, we accidentally booked a gross hotel that didn't match the online photos, smelly, dirty, sand in the beds and people outside smoking. Like a three story motel, no elevator. Moved to the best western plus and Great location, nice beach, clean, friendly, super nice pool /hot tub and comfortable beds.

I have stayed at this property 6-7 times and every year that I come there I have seen no improvements to the hotel nor property. I paid over $1,000 for two nights and the only thing I am paying over priced for is the view of Lake Huron and the convenience of being close to downtown. I am going to look in to another property that is better.

Old worn out hotel. Steep ramps to push luggage up. Cheap breakfast. Mold on ceiling in bathroom. Shower tub curtain so long it covered half the tub floor. Like I said old worn out hotel. No microwave in room. Have to make the trip to lobby for microwave. I paid over $200 for a $100 hotel. Don't make the same mistake.

Overall it was a decent experience. Front counter staff could have been more polite and rooms were not overly clean but acceptable. Value for money not great. This was about the most expensive motel in the area and all the others looked about the same. Good location. Close to ferry and downtown.

On the water, very clean, staff friendly and very helpful, rooms were beautiful; definitely will stay there again. The beds and pillows were very comfortable and bathroom very clean. Breakfast was ample, coffee great!

We had a dock side view. Whether or not they have King beds on the water side I do not know. We had to get 2 queens to be on dock side. The bed was fine, the bathroom was nice, has microwave, refrigerator and coffee machine. Balcony facing water. Breakfast was nice, different days different breakfast sandwiches. The 3 mornings, there were silver dollar size pancakes and chocolate muffins along with the usual juice, yogurt, ad stuff you a toast. BUT, all access was outside; to elevator, to breakfast, to and from pool. And there was only one elevator in the corner of the "L" buildings. And the parking lot was always full because the hotel was full!

Distance to the elevators was a strong negative for disabled guests..Very big disadvantage for a disabled guest. Accessing the breakfast room required going outside to access. The breakfast room was clean and attractive but had few healthy choices. It was unfortunately necessary to go outside to access the breakfast room. Enjoyed the pool very much but the hot tub was at least 104 and too hot to get in.

Hotel was very clean. Staff is friendly. Breakfast consisted of hot and cold foods. It was our first time in Macinac. We would definitely stay here again. It's on the beach so you can just enjoy the view or go for a nice walk. Walking distance to shops and restaurants

This was the worst Best Western we have ever stayed. Not only were the staff unfriendly, bordering rude, but the room smelled of chlorine and had a musty/moldy odor. There was a dehumidifier in the bathroom which needed emptying as soon as we arrived and looks like it hadn't been cleaned out in months (gross)! Also had 2 lamps with burnt out bulbs and a/c problems. We tried to report them to the front desk, but no one ever answered. Spend more money and stay somewhere else.

Room was clean, spacious, and the location was very convenient to the ferry locations and restaurants. Indoor pool and good breakfast. Great value for the money, and staff was friendly and courteous. Will stay there again.

Very nice rooms. Short walk to Shepler's Ferry and to the lovely downtown area. But you don't have to walk-the shuttle to the ferry stops at the hotel to pick you up or drop you off. Reasonable prices. We're glad we booked it.

We had an excellent stay. The room was clean and well maintained. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The pool was clean and very well maintained. We enjoyed the breakfast each morning and my boys loved the mini pancakes. We highly recommend staying here. It is our favorite hotel in Mackinaw City.

Decent hotel. Pool and hot tub open late which is a plus. But you have to walk OUTSIDE to get to it. When we went it was cold so that was a but annoying. Continental breakfast convenient but basically no healthy choices besides the worst oatmeal.

We were returning home after being on a family vacation in the UP. I had seen that Mackinaw City had fireworks on Friday night so I made reservations for 8 guests. I had reserved a suite with 4 double beds but actually had a suite with a king and 2 double beds. It worked out fine as my sister and her husband didn't end up spending the night. But, the fireworks from the balcony of our suite was excellent.

The location is between the docks of the 2 ferries to Mackinak Island. We used Sheplers. Bought discounted tickets at the hotel at check-in. They picked us up quickly after the front desk called. It was so close that we walked to the ferry and our restaurant for dinner the evening before, and walked to dinner from the ferry and back to the hotel when we came back. This was the perfect amount of time on the island. Definitely take the carriage tour. But there is no reason to schlep your bags to the island and stay overnight unless you just want to hang around and relax on the island.

Our room is very nice although not the cleanest. The corner of the room obviously had not been touched in some time as it was full of webs/dust. Also, it advertises a full breakfast but upon arriving here we're informed that it's just a bag breakfast due to Covid. The following is what I copied from their website: "Best Western Mackinaw City also dishes up a delicious, complimentary breakfast. Dig into platefuls of piping hot waffles and eggs, stacks of sweet pastries, fresh fruits, hot and cold cereals and yogurt. Complete your meal with 100% Arabica coffee and chilled juices." I think this is what you call false advertising. We were given a coupon for a restaurant across the street for breakfast if we didn't want the bag breakfast. So this is why I titled it 'Disappointing'.

Great room, great service, great pool facilities, and a great breakfast! This is just a wonderful hotel! It was part of our 40 year anniversary trip so it needed to be special and it was! It was a perfect stay!!

everything was okay. the help was very friendly and helpful. Our room was very nice. It had a sleeper sofa, coffee table, microwave and refrigerator. The bed was very comfortable. We did not have the breakfast because it was very limited. It seemed to only have mini pancakes and biscuits and gravy. They used to have a better one years ago.

Great helpful staff, clean hotel. Wonderful location nice breakfast with many choices, easy access to the beach. I would definitely stay here again, beds were very comfortable with plenty of pillows. Room had table and two comfortable chairs.

Clean, beautiful view and would stay here again in a heart beat. The two queen, water view room was large. Sofa and table included. Refrigerator and upgraded toiletries. The only disappointment was the breakfast. Not too friendly to healthy eaters.

Pros...room was spacious and clean. Short walk to either Sheplers or Starline ferries. Cons...bathroom was small. Sink and counter were outside the bathroom. Shampoo does not suds up. No place to set your clean clothes or glasses except on the toilet. A hook on the door would have been nice. Hung the tag out next morning to have room tidied up, basically needed towels. Came back late afternoon to find the cleaning lady 2 doors down and our tag laying on the ground. You see, our room was outside and the wind blew it off. So I put the tag in a sandwich baggie and put a small hole in it to slip over handle and put that out the next day. Blew off again and no towels. Gave up and did not leave a tip. Another con was walking up and down stairs to the 4th floor. Had to access the breakfast by walking across the parking lot and climbing more outdoor steps. The breakfast was meh...same exact items all 3 days. The ham, egg and cheese biscuits were fine the 1st 2 days but the meat was brown on day three and I had to throw it out. It looked like roast beef. Would never stay here again.

I stayed for three nights during the week. My room faced the lake with a very tiny balcony. The balcony was dirty and full of cobwebs. The balcony screen door & storm door did not lock. The room was dingy, and the bathroom tile looked like it had mold in the grout. The beds were bowed in the middle & uncomfortable. The TV kept flashing a message asking if you were still watching which was annoying. The breakfast wasn't good, and the front desk workers were not very friendly or helpful. I would not stay there again.

Pre-made biscuit sandwiches and mini pancakes were the only hot options. That could be improved, but would still stay again. Loved the living area with couch and then the balcony overlooking the water.

The view was awesome the patio is super small. The room was narrow and long this room says it could sleep 6 people, but it seemed crowed for me and my wife. The breakfast was frozen sandwiches in a warmer. I rated the sleep quality poor but to be fair my wife was surprised and how bad the bed felt at first but she slept well.

Great location for the ferry and all the shops and restaurants. Very walkable! This is just an old hotel and I would call it a motel. Doors on the outside. Lots of stairs but there is an elevator. The bathrooms are ...OLD. They have updated the carpet and bed linens in the room. Expensive room but you are paying for the location. The breakfast was great.

Save your money! I read the reviews here on TripAdvisor and was very skeptical but because our Reunion was being held there we felt it was justified due to convenience. Convenient it was and the redeeming quality…the view from our balcony and the housekeeping staff. Reception poor from first call to check in (exception was young woman at reception desk on left who took mercy on me trying to find the “ramp on left to get to the elevator “ in the dark at 8:30 pm who WALKED ME TO THE RAMP IN THE DARK)! Dingy, dated, dark, NO MICROWAVE, no safety bars in shower, no lid on toilet. And exorbitantly expensive. Confusing to get around inside the facility. Breakfast poor, not worth going to.

If you are looking for a 60's style hotel you will like this motel. Great location but really worn out. The staff was polite but showed little interest in helping the guest. One small elevator for the main building and difficult to locate. As for the breakfast…don't bother. I have seen some advertising about a 25' buffet, it was at least that long but had very little food to choose. No salt or pepper, very little fruit. On the positive side the views from our room was great….you could almost overlook the condition of the hotel. The room was very clean, hats off to the house keeping staff.

We have stayed at many Best Western hotels and for the price we paid this hotel was not as good as other Best Western hotels. The staff was friendly, the room was clean and comfortable. We had to ask for a microwave to be brought to the room when it should have been there already. Breakfast offerings were very limited, an egg sandwich with meat.

When we saw the ratings of this hotel, we almost canceled our room but it was too late to do that. So we had very low expectations and ended up being very pleasantly surprised. As Platinum members we were given an unexpected upgrade to a large double Queen Suite in a private section of the hotel. We were pleased and impressed. The room and bathroom were very clean and spacious. The main challenge was that there is only one elevator accessible from outside and virtually no parking specifically to unload your vehicle. So loading, unloading and pushing the luggage cart up the ramp on the 3rd floor was a bit of a challenge. Breakfast was pretty limited and we passed on it, however, the hotel is located in a great area with lots of restaurant choices. Overall, it was a good stay and we would stay here again for an overnight.

Our room was abve the office. The floorboards made so much noise we could hear next door people walking. The musty odour hits you immediately when you walk into the office. We are done with Best Western. There is no consistancy in their hotel chain.

We had a first floor room on the water and that was the only great thing about the stay. The indoor pool was very filthy which we decided to not even use on one of the rainy days. No microwaves in rooms. Have to go all the way up to the main area to warm up food. Place is very outdated!

Very dark and dated. Breakfast was not worth effort: soggy but dry breakfast sandwiches, bad coffee, dry muffins. Clean but tile work around tub/shower needed work. Ceiling fan and air conditioner were noisy. Staff mouthed all service platitudes but didn't seem really helpful.

Has seen better days. Although our room was clean, most of the public areas were not. Whole place needs to be repainted. Carpets very old. Light in elevator was broken. Breakfast was mediocre at best. Fake coffee creamer, off brand yogurt, Stale chocolate chip muffins, dried out breakfast sandwiches. Some staff pleasant, others downright hostile.

So much more that they could have done with this property. I realize that they have a very small window to make money in Mackinaw City. Location is great, but rooms are small and the price is way too high. Breakfast is bland and needed to be jazzed up with more offerings. Pool and Hot Tub are wonderful

We go to Mackinaw City several times in summer and fall and by far the Best Western is our favorite place to stay. We've gotten to know many of the people and they always are cheerful and friendly. Rooms are always very clean and the pool is always relaxing. We just love staying here. Can't wait for fall to come back.

Amazing beachfront views from our balcony and the beach was so relaxing. Enjoyed the breakfast which was just right as we are not big breakfast eaters. Room was always clean and fresh and the girls at the front were friendly and fun to chat with. Had a great time and enjoyed our stay.

My family and had a wonderful time. The staff at the Best Western in Mackinaw made our stay one of the most memorable we've ever experienced at a hotel. Friendly and accommodating and always willing to recommend various adventures and places to dine. We loved to beach views and how well our rooms were kept clean daily. We will most certainly return to this location.

We stayed in the balcony rooms facing Lake Huron. My husband and I stayed at BW with my parents who are seniors and our daughter and son-in-law (early 20s). We strongly disliked our stay for several reasons. We found the rooms to be very outdated with dark brown colors on the walls, floors, drapes, and furniture. If the drapes were closed, you needed almost every light on in the room to see. We found the bathrooms with dirty tile and grout as well as mold and mildew on the walls above the shower. The bathroom fans poorly ventilated steam while or after showering. Also, our mattresses were uncomfortable and too firm. However, my parents said their mattresses were comfortable. The breakfast bar offered some hot foods: mini-pancakes, breakfast sandwiches, and oatmeal. It was the same menu daily. The breakfast sandwiches were dry and tasteless. In fact, my daughter opened three different sandwiches on our last morning there and found gray ham. We pitched those. As another option, you will find a nice breakfast buffet directly across the street. Be careful of the railings along the exterior of the upper floor walkways. Those wooden railings were rickety and easily moved if pushed against. Some of the railings composed of rotted wood. Also, the exterior of the building needs painted and updated. We had found rotted siding where the dining room meets the hotel. Another problem we had was trash removal. The exterior trash can at the lower level where we enter the stairway from the parking lot was overflowing for three days. In our rooms, trash was removed from our bathrooms but not from the trash canisters located under our sinks. Each day our beds were made and bathroom supplied with clean linens which we appreciated. However, one day we came back to our room at 4:00 p.m. to find the cleaning crew beginning to clean our rooms. Overall, for the money we spent (about $300 per night), we could have easily stayed in a nicer hotel for less money. We highly recommend you stay elsewhere.

The value of the room was not worth it to me for one night. The room appeared dark, grungy, outdated, abd sketchy. We had a moth flying around the room at night which ended up waking us due to sounding like a rodent repeatedly hitting the wall. I will not be returning or recommending this hotel to anyone.

As a party of 9, with 3 handicap/elderly people, we were all able to be very happy with the services. staff and location. Our rooms were amazing and clean. The seagulls that hang out there are extra fun.

Overall , very outdated but rooms are at least cleanish. Pool hours are nice and long though so that was nice. Breakfast was ok. Staff minimally nice- meaning bare minimum helpfulness. Nice location in mackinaw city but think next time we will stay on the north side of the bridge.

Hotel is clean and staff is very friendly. Beautiful waterfront views and firepit with picnic tables out back to use. Close to historic downtown waterfront area. Pool is super nice and breakfast is fantastic. The only place we stay when we come to town.

We chose this hotel on the recommendation of other family members who have stayed here before. The breakfast food was fresh and well stocked and the attendant was so friendly and helpful. The ladies at the desk were pleasant and greeted us cheerfully. The rooms comfortable and clean. Keep doing what your doing as we will definitely recommend as we were pleased with our experience at the Best Western in Mackinaw City.

Lobby clerks were always so friendly and accommodating. Rooms were clean. Pool was clean and lovely especially the nice large gathering room with TVs and fireplace attached. Was a great place to relax and plays cards at night. Overall a great stay and we will be back.

The room smelled musty when the AC was turned on. There was a dehumidifier outside the bathroom door since the exhaust fan did not work. Stayed the second night at Super 8. It was comfy and did not smell.

Front desk staff was rude, unhelpful & dismissive. We would never stay in another Best Western after our experience here in Mackinaw City. Property looked run down and unkempt.I've never experience front desk treatment like this.

Celebrating our 25th in Mackinaw City and Mackinaw Island. Our hotel was perfect location where we didn't have move our car once. The jacuzzi in the room was the highlight of the night along with the walks on the beach right from our room. Rooms were clean and everyone was so kind. Great hotel and certainly recommend.

From the time our group checked in to the time we left the people here made us feel welcome and treated us like family. They helped us plan our days and the housekeepers made sure our rooms were clean and ready for us on our returns at night. We especially loved the view from our balcony and the awesome fireworks shows we saw twice that week. We will definitely return.

Would not stay here again. First room was not clean, had a broken mirror, stain on chair, shower head needed cleaning. Overall “gross feeling” when walking in. Requested a new room and it was better, but still had dirty shower head. This building and the rooms need updating. The photos you see are not what you get. The breakfast consisted of a wrapped ham and egg biscuit, mini pancakes, oatmeal, cereal, fruit and yogurt. Wouldn't have been bad if there was another hot option.

So over priced and outdated. Breakfast wasn't that great. Service was very blah. I wouldn't stay here again. The brewery was the best place to eat. Service was very poor. Price so high. Some of our group paid more then I did and I paid over 300 bucks a night. I can't imagine what the others paid.

Had a very nice experience. Room was clean. Beds comfortable. Staff friendly.Beautiful view from balcony. Could use a little updating but overall was pretty nice. Only stayed one night but was quite enjoyable. Check in was 4:00, about 2:00 I got a call confirming my checkin. Since we were on the island I told her I couldn't say for sure when we'd be there. She said there was no problem to enjoy our time. When we checked in we were given our choice of what floor we wanted. Even gave us advise on where to go for dinner.

We tried to bring the issues to managements attention and all we got was belittling, an argument, and accusations of us doing the things we said there were issues with. The manager tried to say we broke the screen that was what looked like chewed away by an animal, and wouldn't take any advice to better the next persons stay. Very sad to see a manager treat a guest like that. Workers seemed liked they go through that with the manager on a daily basis.

Rooms are outdated.. mold in the bathroom.. jacuzzi didn't want to stay running.. front desk told us breakfast was til 10, it was closed at 904. No coffee in lobby at 905. Air didn't get very cold. Disappointing

When we walked into our room there was some residue in the sink (possibly throw up) so we swished some water Into the sink (and it wasn't draining properly) so we called and told the front desk girl (who could not quite understand what I was telling her) so I said “we need maintenance to come unclog the sink.” We left for dinner and when we came back they had unclogged the sink but the funk was still in the sink. So we called and asked them to come CLEAN the sink..so they sent the maintenance men (2 of them) and they wiped the sink out with a rag. No sanitizer or cleanser!!! We had to go to the front desk and get some sanitizing cleaner and clean it. ZERO work ethic! Makes you wonder how sanitary the hotel is…

Was told after arriving special needs daughter would need to stay in bed while I ran and got her food since breakfast was upstairs and she cannot climb stairs! I let staff know of this when making reservations and how in 2022 is this even legal? Room was dark and dingy definitely not lake side like I requested! Terrible odor. Large bins of dirty laundry were in accessible parking spots so were unavailable. Horrible experience! Left within 5 hours of arriving for what was suppose to be a 3 night stay!

Carla who ran the breakfast was engaging and interactive with the guests. Carla really made it a great start to each day Indoor pool and hot tub were big, clean, and easy to access I spent the extra money to upgrade to a Lake Front room and I would highly recommend.

Horrible customer service turned what could have been a great experience into a horrible one! Management told guests to book via third party vs the hotels own site, said they get more protections that way. When my parents stepped out of the waiting area the manager told the attendant to cancel the reservation and charge my card, yet refused to send a credit authorization card to be able to charge the card and let then stay in the room? Definitely need retraining on guest services!

This Hotel is starting to show its age. Beds were uncomfortable, Continental breakfast quite disappointing Breakfast ended at 9am! The pool and pool lounge area were great!! Front desk staff could have been friendlier but they were quick processing check in and out.

Great place to stay to visit Mackinac Island. Great location. Walking distance to Shipler's Ferry and several restaurants. Clean updated rooms with awesome views on waterfront. Breakfast had lots of options. The midge flies made it impossible to enjoy the balcony.

I was disappointed with our stay in this Best Western hotel in Mackinaw City. The service we received absolutely did not correspond with the 160+ USD/night we paid. The hotel staff at the reception was not friendly, and not customer service oriented. The hotel is pretty outdated, you might be lucky to get a decent room - but maybe not. Our room 233 that we were assigned to was not worth even 100 USD/night, it was dark with no daylight even during the brightest sunny day. I attach 2 pictures - taken at 10 AM on a beautiful sunny day - so you can judge if this is the type of room you want to stay in during your vacation. The breakfast quality is pretty poor as well - no bagels, no cream cheese, no crambled eggs, only black tea and no other choice, only one type of non-fat yogurt. We were pleasantly surprised upon opening the door to the room. Nicely furnished, spacious- hotel looks better inside than from the exterior. Staff was helpful. Carla went out of her way during breakfast to show people where things were and offered bottled water to guests. Breakfast area plenty big to accommodate everyone (unlike many hotels). Very convenient location -can walk to both ferries, shops and restaurants. Room's bathroom could use some fresh paint on ceiling and grout in tile to spruce it up. I found our particular room rents for $125-386 a night this week which made me feel like they were really milking us for our holiday weekend stay with such a huge disparity. I'm sure all the hotels along there do the same thing but geez.

Bugs caught in the spider webs in the ceiling corners. Dried toilet paper on the plunger on the floor in the bathroom. Hot water had to be run for 10 minutes before it heated up. It did stay hot though. Intermittent internet. Heard next door room TV, talking, alarm clock. Buttons on HVAC were torn and grimy. Old, worn out furniture and fixtures. Bed covering looked like it was decades old. Felt grimy and was torn. Kids running up and down the hallways.

. Hotel is very central to many restaurants and close to the dock, Very clean room and comfortable beds and towels. Booked a jacuzzi suite, and there was a dehumidifier in the room to remove the humidity after enjoying a bubble.

The location is unbeatable. The units are nice sized and located next to or near the water. The breakfast wasn't great and the rooms are a bit dated. However, I would definitely stay here again. You can walk to everything!

We just stayed one night on our way to Mackinac Island. The ferry tickets were an added plus to the stay. We were able to purchase them at the front desk. Room was clean and bed was comfy. We didn't use the breakfast, pool or internet. We would stay there again.

Great location and within walking distance to downtown shopping. We had a waterfront room which makes ALL the difference when staying at this particular location. The lower level rooms have a sliding glass door and patio with direct access the the beach area. Lamps were dated but room was clean. Beds and pillows were very comfortable. Breakfast buffet was OK but the same every day of our 3 night stay.

We had a very enjoyable stay at this hotel. The staff was extremely knowledgeable about area, friendly and helpful. We had a lake view with a balcony for a very reasonable price. The room was very clean. It is in a great location being within walking distance to many shops, restaurants and the ferry's. My husband and I stayed one night as we were heading to Mackinac Island the next day. We arrive after 9 p.m so the late check in was nice. Friendly staff, clean room and facilities and the rates were affordable. It is also very close to the ferry dock so that was a bonus. Would stay here again!

We wanted a 2-night stay near the ferry. The TripAdvisor's app showed "breakfast included ". Nope. No breakfast. Rooms in need of updating. 58 degrees in our room upon check-in. But friendly desk agent

Wonderful and accommodating staff and manager. We really enjoyed our stay! Our rooms was very clean and the beds were comfortable. We are looking forward to returning again in June with the rest of our family.

I got into my room and found that the bedside lamps didn't work. The outlets they were plugged into didn't work. An LED light was flashing in the ceiling light fixture. The lobby CLOSED overnight with NO sign as to when it would be open. (I was on a business trip and needed to check out at a certain time... had to wait for someone to show up!) NO BREAKFAST even though it is a PROMISED AMENITY. Offering a SINGLE VISITOR a buy one get one free at a local restaurant IS NOT THE SAME THING! HOW CAN I EVEN TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THAT IF I AM TRAVELLING ALONE??? Off season is not an excuse, even in a town that only had four open/overpriced restaurants. Especially when the B1G1 is at a restaurant that is likely CLOSED FOR EASTER!!! All vending machines empty/unplugged except ONE soda machine. Ice everywhere in the areas of the rooms. I never thought I'd have to call and ask before I booked the stay if the breakfast would be available as promised or if the lobby would even be open!!! Who thinks of asking THAT? Now I know, and if I have to stay in the area again I'll instead stay in St. Ignace.

The grounds were filthy, litter all around the walkways and parking lot. No pool or breakfast even though the website claimed there was. They did offer a B1G1 breakfast at a local restaurant off a limited menu. Rooms clean but need updated, cracks in ceiling, wall trim in bathroom was dirty. Of all the Best Westerns we have stayed with, this was the worst. We booked a King and when we arrived were told that room was 'wet' so we needed to switch to a 2 queen room for the same price.

This is a well-located hotel with decent rooms but I had a horrible experience due to the ill-preparedness of the room's safety equipment and the complete lack of concern by the staff. There were no working batteries in either the Smoke or CO2 detectors so sleep was impossible due to chirping at minute intervals ALL NIGHT. Calls were ineffective as there was no night staff on-site and my ably to take care of the problem myself was crippled due to the hidden location of the CO2 detector. My calls for assistance were treated with apathy and disinterest.

We went in September and had great weather.It was our 50th Anniversary and wanted to get away someplace safe due to Covid.We felt very comfortable,loved our room with jacuzzi tub.Had dinner at their cafe which was average.A bit disappointed in the atmosphere in the restaurant but it was clean and safe for social distancing.We had a beautiful sunset and there is a fireplace outside restaurant to sit at for an evening drink.Also they have a fire pit on the beach that they light at night.Loved the view and stay!

This was our first time to stay at this hotel. My mother, myself and my 26-year-old daughter with lupus and in a wheelchair. Latoria was in the office and she did my check in at the hotel. I was exhausted. Latoria gave me excellent customer service and walked me to where I could get the wheelchair ramp easily and see how things woodwork once I got to my room. I'll never forget her kind manner and her patience with me. We will definitely go back because of Latoya

After a long day we arrived and discovered Expedia has screwed up our reservation. The general manager, Ebel, was kind and helpful. He spent 40 minutes getting things straightened out. Very much appreciated! Room is clean, didn't recognize this is a motel style property where all access is from outside halls. Chilly in November. Nice pool, 10% discount at the local eatery

In general aged property but well maintained and nice location. People are trying to be helpful but I had language barrier and every sentence need to be repeated few time. All the facilities in town we're few blocks away and could be rich by walking

Suite was very nice and spacious. Beds were comfortable Overnight stay in Mackinaw City Clean room and facility. Breakfast was basic, juice machine was not set up and no juice available that I saw that morning.

I'll start with the bad so if you're still reading, there's some good stuff. My family of 2 adults & a 3 yr old visited the last official tourist weekend. It felt like they were already done, both in what was available & attitude. There wasn't a hot breakfast. I know Covid protocol for some places prevents this, but the pool was still open, the fitness center too, and no staff were wearing masks. Breakfast starts at 6am. It's dark out. Breakfast is on the 3rd floor. You have to go down this ramp. There were no lights. The vending machines only take exact change. The rooms don't have a microwave. That's more on me for assuming & not checking. There is one for the hotel in the sitting area by the pool. The pool doesn't open until 10am. We had ants. Not terrible, but there were some on our nightstand & on the bathroom floor. There is only 1 elevator between the buildings. We had to slam our door to get it shut, which I'm sure our neighbors loved. The refrigerator hummed loudly. Not like white noise, but loud enough to disturb sleep. Here are some other not great things, but not the hotel's fault. More of an FYI if you've never been to Mackinac Island, as I hadn't before this trip. Most of the places to stay are motel style. You access the room from outside. Had I have known this, I would've chosen a place with more for kids to do. Because you have to go outside to get to the pool, we only used it once since it was an average of 40F. Other places have that issue as well, but there were bigger indoor play places. Again, not the hotel's problem, just an FYI for families with kids that there are better places for the same rate. Also, poolside does not mean you get a view of the pool. It's just the direction your room is facing. Lake side, if you're on the 1st floor, does have a patio with stairs that lead right to the beach Be sure to call restaurants for deals & delivery. Most don't have great websites that you can order from. Don't buy tickets from the hotel. They are $2 cheaper, but are not real tickets. You have to take them to the ticket booth at the ferry & exchange for real tickets. The hotel did not have multi day passes. Just buy them online. The good. The pool, aside from freezing on our walk back, was nice. Plenty of space & towels. The deep end scoops up. The Star Line ferry is only a 6 minute walk on the same side of the street. Nothing for kids if you have a stroller. Lots of tv channels. Rooms heat up quickly. So not terrible, but could have been better is the theme here. Unless I got a lakeside first floor room in the summer, I wouldn't stay there again

The service at the hotel was outstanding. The housekeeping staff was excellent, any thing that we needed they were happy to provide. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub. I would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone, the room was excellent, and the staff was incredible

room had nice view of lake Heron, was comfortable, clean, somewhat noisy (maybe not hotel's fault?) the breakfast was VERY skimpy, we ended going out to eat. we enjoyed the views very much, would I stay here again? Maybe because of the view not the breakfast

This Inn has been a local landmark. She is big and beautiful. I love the decorum of the place as well as the older furniture in the suite I stayed in. Everything clean and proper. The amenities are good and it is in walking distance of the town. This is the place I stay when I am in Mackinaw City.

Close to everything Mackinaw City has to offer! Hotel is located right on the beach. Walk to restaurants, bars, shopping and island ferry dock. Get your discount ferry tickets to the island at the front desk.

The three front desk staff didn't greet or say anything when we checked in. They were speaking with each other in their own language and never say anything to us except asking our name and gave us the room info.

Comfortable rooms, Great Lake views. Subpar breakfast, prepackaged, boring, ran out of items early each day. Really need to do better. Wonderful fireworks show one of the nights. Easy checkin. Very conveniently located to local attractions. Staff knowledgeable about area

Awful staff, rooms questionable on cleanliness. The breakfast we were told wasn't what we were to get. Reduced offerings. When the staff was confronted about our room conditions, (bathroom sink did not drain, hand and head prints on glass door, tv hung crooked, flies and cob webs behind bathroom door) and told them we had to rinse our toothbrushes out in the tub faucet and coffee cups, their response was, sorry for the inconvenience. Staff girl had no name badge. No compensation for this, nothing.

The staff were all friendly and the rooms were fairly big considering how large the property is. We had a lake view which was nice. Only downside was there were several times we couldn't use our balcony because someone was outside smoking and it stunk up the whole place. I'm sure during summer the beach is packed. Late September though the water is freezing. Still nice to walk and rock hunt though. The biggest disappoint was the indoor pool. The moment you walk in the temp was 110 (almost sauna like, hard to breathe) and without even getting into the pool your eyes start burning because of the chlorine. We couldn't even spend more than 20 minutes in the first night. The 2nd night we tried again didn't even make it 10. Our skin flaked and dried out horribly. It was disgusting. Breakfast- they're still not doing the full breakfast so every day it was the same breakfast sandwich, apples, granola bars, cereal,yogurt and oatmeal. Some mornings we got there by 830 and most stuff was gone.

Best Western Plus in Mackinac City was a great place to stay. It was very clean the staff was great. We had a water view room and it was very affordable. I would definitely stay there again and recommend it to anyone staying in that area. The location is fabulous. Convenient to everything. A real pleasure.

Cleanest room we've had in years. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The gentleman that cleaned our room # 420 did an excellent job, and was very cordial and gave us everything we needed to make our vacation much more comfortable and stress free.

We got a room with a view of the lake and a small patio to see the lake. Quite nice ! Rooms were a little dated but clean, and at least they had breakfast sandwiches and a few things to select from for breakfast. Location was within walking distance to the ferry

We had the 2 bedroom suite and it is huge and set up amazing. The pool was nice and the lobby was clean. The real complaint is the beds. They are so hard no one got sleep. Not only are they super hard you also are only given tiny pillows, so even though there are 4 pillows they are like extra small travel pillows, you are constantly fighting to not have your head fall between pillows. This hotel was expensive, everything in Mackinaw City was, but the two suite room was worth it. Seriously if the beds were not rocks it would be almost a 5 star.

We reserved a lake front view room and the view was lovely. The room was clean and nice. If there is a downside to the hotel- to get to the breakfast room or the pool you need to walk outside. Fortunately the weather was decent- although raining one morning so the walk to breakfast was wet! Overall- a nice place to stay and a good place to buy tickets to the ferry or any of the area activities as you receive a discount.

Mattresses are old, the whole hotel needs a major overhaul. Room was clean. The office workers have a major attitude like you are a pain in the butt. Would not stay here ever again or recommend. I am not sure if they were speaking Jamaican Patois, but I did t understand it but while I sat and had coffee it was clear they were talking after a customer left and was laughing. The parking was very odd, trying to squeeze as many cars as possible, so a lot of people watching and moving cars since one elevator the staff uses also for 3 floors. We had a room on the water side was nice, again old so leery of the patio. If you stay here, get room facing water. Coffee maker looked very old, would never use, ever. Sorry for the negativity but being honest

We had a Waterview room and we could walk right out onto the sandy shore. There were lounge chairs so you could relax and enjoy the beautiful lake. The breakfast selection was limited but adequate. The location to the ferry & to town was a big plus.

This is not a BW Plus, We paid too much and I am embarrassed that I didn't look around at other properties. It is a nice location and you are on the water with a small balcony. As mentioned in other reviews the room needs updating. If you like 1980 you are in luck. While a hot breakfast is advertised the continental breakfast is a joke. Probably one of the worst breakfast offerings I have experienced even with COVID. No staff wear masks so I assume COVID is no longer an issue at the hotel. Walls are thin making it difficult to sleep. I am disappointed at Best Western for allowing this property to be a Plus. It discredits those that actually are in that category. I would not recommend staying at this hotel. You can do better and cheaper. Keep looking.

The gals at the front desk where nice and helpful. I was able to get a very nice room on the floor I preferred. Breakfast was fine. They didn't have some of the hot options but did have breakfast sandwiches that could be warmed up as well as all the packaged options (cereal, oatmeal, granola bars, etc.) and muffins. Every place was nice and clean. Only con was the bathroom could use a little remodel. Parking was fine until the evening. We left to the darkpark and we got very lucky as there was only one spot left when we returned. (There are some roofing materials taking up a handful of spots so that didn't help). Perfect location for walking to city shops and restaurants and the ferry docks :)

Ok, I struggled with how many stars to give this hotel. It has its good and bad sides. The good: location, location, location, right in the heart of the city attractions and shopping. Nice beach on Lake Huron directly behind hotel. Beautiful views of the area. Price wasn't bad for what we got. Now for the bad: parking is a nightmare, if you can get a spot and never move your vehicle, spots are extremely tight and fill up fast. There is only one elevator for the entire hotel and when the cleaning starts in the morning it's hard to get on the elevator without running into the staff using them. Overall we enjoyed our stay but may look at other hotels next time.

Excellent stay, great view of the lake , very nice room. Check in/out very easy. Recommend this hotel for a pleasant in the City right on the lakefront. Staff very friendly. Ideal location near the ferry docks, easy walk to resturants.

Centrally located, short walk to shops and docks. Older hotel but well kept up. Very nice pool and hot tub and breakfast dining facility. Lots of parking. We travel with a Corvette club and they facilitate us with car washing equipment to read our cars for the show.

On my last 2 trips to Michigan I tend to stay at Best Western. I have tried less expensive places in the past but you get what you pay for. I am more secure with the quality I can expect at Best Western and use them if they are where I stop.

We absolutely love the beach here! The room was just right with a gorgeous view. The front desk staff was so friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub, as well. It was much cleaner than other hotel pools in the area.

Very good location, walk to ferry and downtown shopping and attractions. BUT hotel decor is old and dated both inside rooms and outside. Parking lot was cramped - get there early and don't move your car. Very good front desk staff. Adequate breakfast.

Our room was clean, comfortable and what a view we had!! The housekeeping staff was the best. Everyone at the front desk was friendly and very helpful. We forgot to put the doortag out one day to have our room cleaned while we were gone and they called me to see if we wanted the room cleaned. We have never had a place do that. Everything we wanted to do was within walking distance. This is where we will be staying when we come back.

We arrived at 5:00 pm our room was not cleaned. Gave us another room, not much better. The front desk staff on three occasions were rude. It was the attitude of don't bother me I am just here for the pay. The breakfast was sparse and the attendant was no help. The room was outdated and the balcony hadn't been cleaned at all. Cob webs, dirty floor, spiders etc. Don't stay here the prices outrageous for the rooms and the staff leaves a lot to be desired.

My family of 3 spent $239 for a Thursday night and $339 for a Friday night stay and for that price, we thought we were going to be staying somewhere super nice! Oh how we were wrong… Our “courtyard” view room is a joke. There is no courtyard, it is the parkinglot! Which is a joke in itself since there isn't enough parking for all of the guests, not even close. Go to the very outdated room which we can live with outdated but the musty smell that came with it was very overpowering. There were also gnats everywhere. My mom stayed in a beachfront first floor room and there were 2 mice living on the patio, she had to have them bring mousetraps. The 2nd day we expected to come back to a clean room but they didn't vacuum, clean the counter, take the empties or change the sheets!!! Tbey made the bed but left the old sheets which i knew immediately because it had like a black grease thumbprint stain from when I fully inspected before bed the night before. However, that 2nd day there was a new red/brown bloodstain streak WHICH WAS NOT THERE BEFORE!! I also did not go to bed with any cuts or scabs and I slept with clothes on. So did the housekeeper make my bed with blood on her hands? Kill a bug in my sheets? Probably not. I can't help but to think bed bugs. I also found a small brown blood stain on a pillow case. We will never stay here again and cannot believe we spent the same amount of money that could be spent at the Cosmo in Vegas on this pest-infested dump.

Stayed here for our honeymoon trip to Mackinaw. The staff was great! Close to many attractions, food, shopping and entertainment. I prefer best western over other comparable hotels. The staff is always very knowledgeable and courteous.

Pretty standard two-star hotel with the price of a 4 star. Buildings need maintenance with peeling and faded paint and outdated decor. Dirty laundry and garbage are piled up behind the main lobby building which is unavoidable from the parking lot or when walking to your room. Our room had new carpet and some newer furniture but still felt pretty dated. Did not participate in the continental breakfast. Looked a little sketch. Pool area: It was okay--nothing special and indoors. We didn't feel great being in there during COVID with an unvaccinated child. There are no restrictions in place for the number of people, social distancing, or masks. Would've loved an outdoor pool. Convenient location within walking distance to "downtown" Mackinac City and the ferry docks. Way overpriced for what you get. But then, so is the entire area. Will look to Air BNB next time we go.

My son and I travel once to twice monthly and we stay at a lot of hotels. We are also BW members. This hotel is extremely overpriced and dirty and nasty and old and stinky and creepy. There are absolutely no redeeming qualities here. We are in a third floor room that requires a keycard to enter a vestibule and a bent key to open the door to the room. The bedspread is old and nasty and dated and the furniture old and creepy. If you read my other reviews I rate almost everything a 4-5 star. In addition, I paid $360 to stay here. Yuk yuk yuk!!!!

This was a wonderful place to spend the long weekend. Staff was wonderful, rooms were clean, pool was clean, and the location is perfect for exploring Macinaw. We traveled with kids and grandma, the room was plenty big and the hotel felt very safe for a family to stay. We would recommend

So, I booked the Best Western Dockside at the beginning of January for a early June stay. The cost for 2 night, with taxes, were just a bit over $200 total. That was an absolute bargain for the location of the hotel. I couldn't be happier. Fast forward to June 3rd. My daughter and I drove up from Indiana the day before and stayed in Gaylord. We drove the rest of the way Thursday morning and were on the island biking around and were at the Grand Hotel looking around when I got a phone call from "Enjo Inc". These days, 90% of calls like these are spam, but it was a Michigan number, so I answered it. It was the Best Western that we were going to stay at that night (Thursday) and the following night (Friday). They informed me that the credit card that I had held the room with had declined and that the room that I had reserved was no longer available. As I sat there stunned that I no longer had a room to stay in 8 hours from home, I asked what if there was anything they could do. Sure, they have a suite available for the special price of $220 that I could have. I panicked and gave them another card number to hold the room. It was apparently a special price for special circumstances. I had to take it. I asked about the second night and the guy informed me that I could have the second night at the original price. Now, I got a confirmation for the new room at the new price and and the second night price was going to be about $320. Remember, the original TOTAL price was about $210. Now, it's $540. I checked and said that no way was I going to pay $320 for a second night. Somebody handed the lady I was checking in with a piece of paper and it apparently had the ok to charge me the original $100-ish total for the second night. We would have to check out in the morning and then check back in in the afternoon though. Fine, whatever. So, I called my Capital One credit card phone number and asked what the heck the problem was. There was no problem. There are thousands of $$ available. Now, I'm pissed, but it's the start of a week and a half of vacation in the Michigan U.P., so I let it go. I wasn't going to let a hotel that apparently wasn't happy that I was paying a low rate during the prime season. The questions I have are as followed. 1- Why did this place charge my card BEFORE I even checked in? What would have happened if I wanted to pay cash when I got there? 2- The guy with the accent told me that they had called me "numerous times" that day about the card issue. Maybe they don't realize that cell phones keep track of how many times you get phone calls. They called once at 9:50 AM, which I didn't hear because I was on a bike riding around Mackinac Island and a second time at 3:45 PM, which I answered. They called twice. They didn't email, text, or anything else. 3- Exactly how much were they trying to charge against my credit card that caused it to decline? I'll never even consider this place again and, honestly, I'm not interested in Best Western in general anymore, even though some of the Best Western Plus hotels I've stayed at have been excellent. I feel like I got screwed because of the rock bottom rate I got 6 months in advance and they decided that they could just screw with me because they probably knew I would have no other options. Nothing like this has ever happened to me before and after the fact, it pisses me off. They're going to comment on this, but as far as I'm concerned, they can save it, they did what they did and I'm not interested in anything they have to say about it. I'm sure they will know who this is. How was the hotel? Old. I knew that going in. Hotels in places like this that have a small tourist season window don't really update much. The location is excellent. The pool looked nice, but we didn't use it. The beds are mediocre. The little balcony was nice and we watched the Friday night fireworks from there. The stupid Midge Flies were everywhere, but that's not the hotel's fault. It's not quiet. The parking lot is like a Tetris puzzle. I'd give it a 3 - 4 star as the good outweigh the bad. My experience was "0" stars.

First time for anyone in our family to Mackinaw City, looked for a hotel on the waterfront so we could have a room with lake view. The room was ok, seemed cleaned but just "old" feeling, like outdated and dark feeling. The room was very small even though it was supposed to be a 2 queen bed "suite". The view from our room balcony was of Lake Huron and it was a great view and the use of private beach behind the hotel was a great added bonus. However, the price paid for the room was exorbitant for the size of room and overall condition of hotel. I probably would not stay here again.

Clean rooms and great service. Outside of hotel(roof) needs some some serious TLC- wallpaper was starting to crinkle due to possible water damage. Great view and close to downtown and ferry's for the island.

Our room was dark, dated, and dirty. Definetly not what I expected for the very expensive price. Also I tried to cancel, but the manager didn't let me because of their 72 hr cancellation policty. Most other Best Western's I've stayed at have a cancellation policty of 24 hrs.

We booked this for our family for a getaway for a few days. The hotel room was very small for six people. Most importantly to me, the room and sheets were clean. The lakefront balcony had a beautiful view but could only fit two chairs (and that was tight). We swam in the pool and used the hot tub two days, but the third day the chlorine was so strong we couldn't even stay in the pool room. The grab and go breakfast was sufficient, but the employee staffing it was not friendly and we felt we inconvenienced her asking for milk and yogurt (which were sitting behind the table out of reach, and the sign said to ask for.) We didn't have any problems requiring a manager, but I witnessed another guest with the manager, and the manager was not friendly or customer service oriented. There is definitely room for improvement in customer service, but maybe it's related to staff being overworked from covid.

The hotel is located so that many things are within walking distance--shops, restaurants, the icebreaker Mackinaw and the ferry. The hotel definitely needs some updating but it was clean. The shower was high and had hot water quickly. The beds were comfortable with nice linens. The towels were large but average in quality. The beach is located right behind the hotel. The hotel was quiet. All the staff we met were very friendly. The one complaint is that there is not enough parking. There was a grab and go breakfast, but we did not use it.

Made a reservation. Upon arrival I was told that they were sold out and we had no reservation. I had not been sent a confirmation email like I was promised but did not worry about it since I have never had problems with other hotels. It was 9:30 PM and we were without a room in a filled up city. We had reserved a decent price three weeks earlier. I'm sure they got a much better price from someone else and if we had not shown up I am positive we would've been charged for the room also. Thanks a lot best Western. Never again.

Our stay at Best Western Plus Dockside Waterfront Inn was nothing short of perfect. The hotel staff were happy to assist with any of our needs. They helped us find deals around town and arranged a shuttle to the ferries so we didn't have to drive or find parking. The room was spotless and the view of the beach and Lake Huron were beautiful. You can't beat the location. Just minutes from downtown. I would happily stay here again.

Very nice location right on the beach. I enjoyed watching the July 4th fireworks from my patio. Easy walking distance to the ferries. Where this hotel is lacking is in the quality of the facilities. Parking is deplorable. Hard to find a place to park. The property is old and looks it. I expected better from it's "plus" designation.

We stayed here because it is close to shopping, ferry, and restaurants. We had a lakefront room which had a great beach area. The room wasn't fancy but was clean. The staff at the front desk were very accommodating and pleasant. We will definitely be back.

We stayed here to be close to downtime and to the boat to Mackinac Island. The hotel was ok. The room was clean but nothing fancy. The breakfast was grab and go which was only an apple, fruit bar, and water. They did have cereal, orange and apple juice.

This is an older well-kept hotel. We stayed in a lakefront king room with balcony and large hot tub. It actually had a little patio as we were on the ground level. The room seemed clean, and it was well stocked with plenty of towels and toiletries. there was a fridge in the room and a single coffee maker that uses the pods, not the K-cups. The pool was warm, just off the office, and you have to walk outside to get to it as all the rooms are outdoor entry. There is a sandy beach and plenty of seating areas. The kids swam but of course, the water was still cold even in late June. The ferries are nearby and it is worth the price to go to the island for lunch or dinner. Go to the Pink Pony-so good. Had a great time in Mac City. The shops downtown have low price jackets and sweatshirts. I love the Michigan calendars at Teysen's so I stocked up for next year. Kilwin's has the best toffee, caramel corn and chocolates! Just a great place to vacation. And the slots were loose at Odawa!

Very nice hotel! Clean and quiet and convenient to everything we wanted to do! We barely used our car in 3 days. We loved it that we came back to a freshly cleaned room every day. Nice little beach out back and lovely views at sunrise and sunset. Will stay again.

Great stay. Room was clean and well maintained. My kids loved the pool, which was also clean and well maintained. Staff was all very friendly and helpful. We love the location and that we can walk to the ferry and downtown so easily.

We stayed here for one night before going to Mackinac Island! The room was good ok, nothing special but clean. They had an indoor pool and hot tub. The location is close to the Ferry service. It seemed like a good location, we did not walk around much, but seemed like there were a lot of people who were.

The room and amenities were great. Convenient to ferry docks and restaurants. Front desk ladies very friendly and helpful. We had only the "to go" breakfast, but this was fine . It was nice to have this option as opposed to a sit down. Loved sitting on the balcony with a great view of the lake.

Stayed for two nights. Location was great with beach front. But Lots of flies everywhere, hope it's seasonal. The room was ok, there was no microwave, no towel hanger near sink, no exhaust in the bathroom. Service was ok, no bath soap, left lot of bugs in room after cleaning.

Based on this issue, I doubt I will ever book a Best Western Room again. I reserved my room online a week prior. After driving 100 miles on my 300 mile trip, the hotel called me and DEMANDED that I give them my credit card number over the phone or I they wouldn't hold my room and it may not be available when I got there! WHAT!?! You are never supposed to give that information to someone who calls you as you can't verify who it is and it could be fradulent! And I'm supposed to drive the remaining 200 miles and then find out I don't have a room? I argued this and was told I didn't enter it properly online and they could only see the last 4 numbers! Well, if I had entered it wrong, the reservation never would have gone through. I don't think they are supposed to see the number until I present the card at check-in. I finally gave them the number so I would have my room, and then they demanded to know what time I would arrive and was told to be there at 4 p.m. This was BS, and the rudest person ever!

The hotel is dated and needs numerous upgrades from the bottom up .Cabinet drawers on night stand almost fell out onto my foot. cabinet door where the fridge was, would not stay closed. The refrigerator rocked from side to side when trying to open the door and the freezer wasn't functional.

Wife got sick on island with covid like symptoms. So we call the hotel to cancel our reservation for June 1st. Manager refused to at least refund part of our money. He has no respect for your health. Don't come here

When traveling with unrelated younger student, it is rare and wonderful to actually have 2 rooms. So many "suites" just add a sofa these days. Avoids having to rent 2 rooms. Lovely rooms on Lake Huron.

This hotel was slightly dated but very clean. Location is good for both ferries and the downtown area of Mackinaw City. Because of Covid there was only the grab and go breakfast but it was a nice alternative. We went before Memorial Day so we couldn't beat the price.

We enjoyed our stay here. The staff at the front desk are very friendly. I wish the continental breakfast was back. The coffee in the lobby was good. The balcony view of the water is great. We enjoyed everything is within walking distance. We would recommend.

I have stayed here many times before it 2017. Here in 2021 the name has changed, and apparently the service and conditions of the room has changed. Oddly though as the price has steeply risen, the service and conditions have gone down. The while point of this hotel is it's very close location to downtown Mackinaw City, and the Sheplers Ferry lines. Unfortunately this price of stay here has risen so much that you should look for a BnB or hotel on the Island of Mackinac. I will be doing that for my next visit as these prices do not justify the service and conditions of the room I stayed in.

This hotel was very well represented. It was clean and comfortable and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The inside pool was beautiful. It was very user friendly for a family or leisure vacation. If you come for business, you would probably want a more updated room with a desk, lamp, and great internet. All in all, I would definitely recommend the Best Western Plus for a vacation place to hang out.

I like to stay at Best Western Plus because they are inexpensive but clean and efficient. Not this one! The locks on the doors were broken. The rooms are old and dirty. I did not feel safe staying at this hotel. Beware of this hotel. It looks pretty in the pictures, but it is not.

A group of us booked several rooms in this hotel and found it to be clean, well-maintained and quiet. Bed was comfy. Would recommend. There's a lot to do in Mackinac city – especially with the fall colors at peak. A lot of scenic drives and little shops in the area.

My room was next to the public beach on the ground level, the top security latch was broke and upon arrival the sliding glass door was unlocked. I felt very unsafe, it took 3 times to the office to get the door open.

While I found this hotel to be suitable for a weekend trip to Mackinaw, I found the customer service to be severely lacking. From check in to check out, I had about 4 encounters with the front desk staff and none of them were pleasant. At check in I was greeted by a cool toned employee that never smiled or made anyone feel welcome. I went to the desk to ask for a knife and was met with sarcasm and a cool tone. We were not given enough towels for all of the people in our room, and when I called to ask for more, I was told that I could come and get them from the front desk myself. At checkout I was not asked how our stay was, I was called over and told "Leave your room keys in the basket" in an annoyed tone and that was all she said to me until she handed me the receipt and said "You're all set". The staff could really use some training on customer service. I will say that the location of the hotel is quite nice. It is close to both ferry companies, as well as shopping and dining in Mackinaw City. However, I would pay more and go farther out before I would stay at this hotel again. If customer service is not important to you, then I would recommend this hotel as the location, pool, hot tub, and room were nice.

Our 3rd floor room had a nice deck with two chairs and a small table facing the beach of Lake Huron. It was nice to be able to open the slider for fresh air and a view of the local boat piers and Mackinaw Island in the distance. Mackinaw bridge is NOT visible from this location. The room was comfortable and clean. The room has a nice TV and a refrigerator, but there was no microwave. The shower and toilet were inside the bathroom, but the sink was in the entry hall of the room which made it awkward to wash hands or privately groom. The rooms are all accessed in motel style with open air balconies. We visited in good weather, but this would be uncomfortable in bad weather, and there would be difficulty ensuring security for the rooms as all doors are open to the public from the parking lot. Our door would lock but the extra security latch was broken off. It is a long walk outside from the room to the reception desk for any needs such as coffee, towels, the bagged breakfast, or the pool. This Best Western is a great value with the right expectations. The location is perfect for a day trip to Mackinaw Island as the docks are very close. It is possible to walk a few blocks to the many tourist shops. The clean sandy beachfront was very nice with lots of lounge chairs and a patio. We would consider visiting this location again because of the economical room rates.

I will start this off that the ONLY good things about this hotel is the location and the price. This is one of the few times reviews and ratings were very far off the mark. This grand dame needs a lot of TLC. Everything is outdated. We are a group of four older women traveling and security is important when staying in a room alone. We had four rooms with water view and patio doors to the beach. There are no sticks in the track or bar to keep intruders out. We did get room service but the patio doors in two units were left unlocked. 2 out of the 4 rooms were missing security latches. The hotel fixed one of them but was unable to get the second one done by evening. Our friends was offered another room but declined--so the hotel did try to cure that. One of the other ladies swears someone took a shower in her room while we were away for the day. Her toiletries in the shower were open and her hair dryer settings were all changed. There are nicer hotels in the area which are probably a bit more but we didn't like our two night stay there at all. I would spend a bit more for a place a lot safer and cleaner and newer.

This is an older looking hotel but the location is the star. Our room had a balcony overlooking the small beach. It was nice to watch all the geese and seagulls, although the black bugs kept us from staying outside too long. Room was okay. Small coffee pot included. As others have written, you can get their grab and go breakfast or use the 2 for 1 buffet coupon at a restaurant across the street. We got the grab and go...muffin, yogurt, apple, water, and granola bar. Easy walk into town for lots of shops and eateries.

The Best Western Dockside is close to everything in Mackinaw City. Close to both ferries, restaurants and bars. The beach is right out the rear door. The beach has chairs and chaises to sit on, and a small patio with tables to gather around. The beach is clean, expect the usual pesky flies, so bring bug spray! The sea gulls are always looking for a handout~ I suggest you don't feed them or they won't leave. Rooms are comfortable, clean, and offer a fridge. No microwaves are in the rooms. We had a suite, two queen beds, sofa, table and two chairs and a lovely balcony. The balcony had lots of flies, we used bug spray and we able to enjoy the lakeside views! The staff was friendly and attentive. We had a clogged sink, it was immediately attended to!

Upon entering room, there was a odor, turned on cooling system didn't work so well. Carpet had sticky spots all over, bedspread had stains all over it. Not the best hotel in Mackinaw City, disappointed.

Not updated but very clean. Pretty quiet and a nice location. We were disappointed with the Covid solution for the continental breakfast and I had 1 rude experience prior to arrival when I called to ask a question but check in and out the women were friendly and good hosts.

Had a room on the 2nd floor lake view, room was updated, loved everything about it. Pool area was also very cleanly. Breakfast to go bag was convenient. Only thing I noticed was a half ate sucker was stuck to the carpet next to one of the beds. Not the worst thing have found in a hotel so not complaining. Good place to stay! Will be back!

I loved our visit to this hotel. Staff is very friendly. Great location to walk to surrounding attractions and places to eat. The only thing I didn't like about this stay was they didn't offer much for breakfast. Just a sack breakfast with a muffin, apple, fruit bar and a water. But there is a breakfast place across the street.

We stayed one night in a 2 queen, 1 king suite. Check in was seamless and speedy. The room was very clean and cozy. We paid $107 for the suite and for the price this suite was a steal. My only complaint is that the room was a bit outdated. Also, while I know there are restrictions because of Covid, I feel that the grab and go breakfast could have been better.

Great weekend stay. Beautiful view of the Mighty Mac. The pool was clean and it was just outside of downtown area to enjoy the city of Mackinaw. Definitely would stay here again in the future and would recommend

They did not give us the room we asked for so when checking in the lady changed our room. When we got to the new room it had not been cleaned yet so we called the front desk and she apologized for her mistake and said I will send someone with the keys for another room. After about 10 minutes later, she brings another set of keys for the new room. Once in this room the TV remote did not work and the room was very cold since the window heater had not been turned on. We were told to wait at least 15 minutes and then it should warm up. The room did not warm up. The temperature outside was in the 30 degree range. I called again because our large room was not heating up and we were still freezing. They sent a maintenance man to check it out. He said the window heater was working fine but he did suggest getting us a space heater. He said he would be right back with one. After about a half hour latter, still no one. I called the front desk again an email the Manager said she is still looking for one for us. If we want to leave, she said that she would refund us our money. We as seniors would then have to walk about a block to get a cart from the office and reload our 7 pieces of luggage and take their elevator 4 floors to the ground and then up the incline to the main level and reload all our suitcases into the car in outside temperatures of 30 degrees. No I did not want to go through all of that hassle at my age. We are staying. She sent us another maintenance man. He said the heater is fine but your room is so large that you could use a space heater. 5 minutes later he comes back with a space heater. The space heater did a better job of warming up the room quickly than the window heater. The shower in the bathroom kept dripping but the maintenance man said he would fix that later when we move out of the room. All of this took about 2 hours of our time for a room that was not assigned to us to begin with. Also, not everything was cleaned. Some of their cleaners were not wearing masks while cleaning the rooms. These rooms were not being cleaned to covid standards since some workers were not wearing their masks. When leaving the lady asked me, how was your stay? I told her what I just told you and she apologized. I suggested some money back off the price of the room and she said, I can't do that. So I said I do not have to stay in a Best Western ever again. I will go elsewhere. There are lots of other hotels that want my business. Before you unload your luggage check to see if your room has heat if the outside temperature is in the 30's. This place is definitely not following covid cleanliness when it comes to cleanliness of your room. Talking with other people from the local area, other people have said the same things about this Best Western hotel.

Needed a place to stay while heading to the U.P. Arrived at 9pm and went to turn TV on but there was no remote. Went to front desk to get remote and she said she would bring me one. 20 mins later still no remote. Called and she said she was bringing it. 10 mins later she brings but remote TV still didn't work. It was late and I didn't have time to wait for tech. Asked if they could do anything with my bill and she said no. Went to bathroom and found an ant. Killed it and before going to bed went back and there were a few more ants. Didn't even bother calling. There also was a piece of candy on the floor near bed. Would not recommend this hotel.

If you want to stay in a dump, this place is for you. First, the piles of soiled laundry near the entrance. Then the trash piled up in the stairwells. Our television did not work, and no one showed up to fix it as promised. To top it all off, we were informed we owed for two nights when we informed the staff we were leaving the next morning. And when we protested, three employees laughed and spoke about us in an unintelligible African dialect (foreigners run the place). Apparently we were the entertainment of the day. I don't know how the Best Western name got on this building, but they better get it off before these clowns ruin it.

The hotel exceeded our expectations, as it was reopened for the season in Mackinaw City for Spring break. We enjoyed the Lake Side view from our balcony. The hotel is only a few minutes walk to all area's attraction including the ferry service. We also enjoyed their lovely indoor pool and hot tub. Although most of the city was not yet opened for the season, we enjoyed the emptiness of the surroundings.

Reserved a room, had the manager call to confirm and when we got to the hotel, they didn't have the time we reserved available. We weren't told at check in that we needed to request room service, how to obtain breakfast or offered use of the pool/water park. Room we ended up in had 2 towels but could sleep 4, no regular coffee in the room and the hot water in the sink was lacking. Over all a very poor experience and we won't be staying at this hotel again.

The staff treated us greatly. If there was an issue, they solved it. After being shut down for a few months for seasonal purposes, there were a few kinks to work out with them getting up and running and that's typical. How the staff handled everything was professional and with urgency. Our Jacuzzi tub was awesome. I loved the view and walk out to the beach, feeding the seagulls and enjoying the sounds of the waves. This location is great for the shops, access to the ferry (when it's up and running again) and everything else in Mackinaw City. This trip was special. My boyfriend proposed on this trip and we are now engaged. We will be returning to this property again and recommending it to others! It was a great stay. Thank you!

Only half of the initial suite was actually cleaned, and the metal key to one of the rooms in the suite did not work. Although comforters are not always removed, they should not be stained, which was the case in the second suite. The second room also had a refrigerator with molding food, food was on the floor, and Easter candy was left in the bathroom. Although there was a refrigerator, there was no microwave. Due to the pandemic, breakfast was understandably grab-and-go, but there was no drink included, not even bottled water.

Walking distance to everything. Staff did their best to accommodate everyone during covid19. Area is dead/ closed during April. Come mid May to enjoy everything. Overall great experience. Bring snacks/ food if traveling before May.

Front desk male manager on duty was absurd. Not wearing a mask, extremely rude, wouldn't help us, our floor wasn't vacuumed, cable was broken, sink not cleaned - had hair & Kool-aid in it, no soap or shampoo or conditioner in room, NO SHOWER CURTAIN & front desk wouldn't bring one up and I called twice! I was crying after all of it. I have never been so disappointed. Paid through the roof for the room! Pool didn't work. I will be telling everyone I know about this particular hotel. It was disgusting.

Well to start we were surprised by find this place reasonably price for once. 75 bucks for the night (off season). The room was nothing special just a normal room. The bad part of the whole stay is that none of the staff didn't wear any mask for the guest protection or theirs. The guy we checked in with didn't wear one and carried on like there was nothing wrong. But the sign at the entrance states masks are required. At checkout in the morning again none of the staff where wearing a mask and the heavy set lady was very rude, with NO people skills.This is normally a high priced motel and don't see why. But they don't take the guest safety to heart and it shows.

Rooms were nicely decorated very modern, rooms very clean and staff was friendly. The only complaint I could have was our room didn't get cleaned until 5pm as we were gone all day and came home to our room just then being cleaned, but they did have a large amount of guests check out that day so I know the housekeepers were very busy.

The room was so pretty and the view of the lake was beautiful! The breakfast was grab and go because if Covid. The granola bar tasted stale, but overall it was a decent option. They gave us BOGO breakfast buffets at the restaurant across the street as another option. When we checked in the staff was so nice, but we called the next day to ask about breakfast and that lady was rude. Overall it was a great hotel and we would definitely stay again.

We had a great check in experience and they were able to accommodate an early check-in. We had a great view from our lakeside room & all the amenities to make it a great stay. This hotel is in a great location and has a beautiful morning view.

This was the best stay in any hotel we have been in for a while. Best Western Hotel of Mackinaw City really knows what a customer wants. The décor made me feel like I was royalty. The staff was very helpful. The view was excellent. The sofa was fantastic with the tables in the room. The headboard, furniture, and pictures make me feel like I am in a dream world. I missed the buffet breakfast that you used to do and I hope this breakfast meal comes back soon. The local area has nothing but long lines of people trying to get into a restaurant to eat and I don't like waiting an hour to get a table to eat at while it is raining outside while one waits inline for breakfast or any other meal. I will not wait too long in line so I went to the local store and bought my groceries to microwave in my room thanks to the microwave you have in the room. I love the large screen tv on the wall that you have in the room. The patio and lake view was sensational to view. If I could afford to stay in this room for the rest of my retirement, I would.

Our room was clean and quite comfortable, and the view from the balcony was lovely. The staff were all exceptionally nice and went out of their way to help. The location is great, close to everything. WiFi was consistently reliable. The pool and the lounge next to it are very nice. You do have to walk outside to get from the pool to your room, which was a bit chilly. I can't imagine doing it in winter. I would definitely stay there again.

Room was clean, beds were comfortable, staff was friendly. COVID preparedness was adequate. One weird thing: our room had an outside card access door (shared with another room) and an inside key door. I suppose that this arrangement would come in handy when two families wanted to stay next to each other, but I thought it was amusing that they gave us 2 cards, but only one key. What's the point?

Right on the waterfront near lots of shopping and restaurants. Free and nearby parking. Only problem I had was room smelled much like musty chlorine. Very strong odor. I also don't like outdoor entry for safety reasons but I see most hotels in the area have that. Bed was comfortable. Tv was a large flatsceeen. Spacious bathroom.

The hotel was clean and friendly. The rooms were nice and the beds were comfortable. We had a sliding door to a patio overlooking the water. Very pleasant experience. We would definitely stay there again.

Staff is always very friendly and helpful. Facility is clean. Facility is also very conveniently located to everything you need in the city. Lakeside rooms have a beautiful view of the lake and sunrise. Due to Covid 19 restrictions the breakfast was limited to a to-go bag which was fine. In past visits we have used the breakfast buffet and it was terrific!

Stayed here for 2 nights, as a central location. Room was very clean and very well decorated. Loved the balcony and the view. Very nice staff and close to walk to downtown shopping and restaurants. Staff was very nice.

The room was very clean, in a great location and the staff seemed to focus on friendly service! The view from the balcony overlooking the bay was very nice and I'm sure this location would be an awesome way to enjoy the area during warmer weather. We were within walking distance to everything!

We stayed in a room with 2 queen beds and a sofa and frig. Room was very spacious and well decorated with dark wood accents. Pillows were fluffy. It was very clean. We left our balcony door open at night and listened to the lake.

Well, I usually stay in suites and the double queen with a pullout just doesn't compete with most especially at $422 per night. Very small balcony, no microwave, so so bathroom with sink and mirror outside of it. Wallpaper was peeling in a few spots. Was pretty clean and the furniture was nice. One thing is for sure though, the best Western location is walking distance to downtown and some great restaurants. Edit: we couldn't sleep very well because there is something in the room that we're allergic to and my daughter hasn't had allergies before. The completely stuffed up nose goes away when we are not in the room. One last thing, because of covid they can't do their good breakfasts so they replace with an apple, small muffin and granola bar with choice of a cup of orange juice or water! I'd like to say I don't give negative reviews often (check out my profile on Google, Ryan Klenk) but I always tell the truth.

Hotel was clean and pretty quiet. The front desk staff is always kind, helpful and smiling. We've stayed at other hotels in town, but found out quickly that this one is the nicest. We will definitely be staying here again.

Lake View Rooms are very good, nice little balcony. Staff at front desk friendly at check-in, but kept busy so didn't feel like I could ask extra questions. Parking lot strangely laid out and spaces are tight. Room was clean. We did not spend much time at hotel, except to sleep.

This hotel is in the perfect location if you want to go to the island or walk the strip. It's a 5 minute walk to Shepler's ferry, Starbucks and other restaurants and shops. There is a beach behind the hotel. Overall the hotel is clean and kept up, however there were a couple things I was a little surprised by. For one the website states that their Covid precautions are they will not enter your room after you check in, however we were surprised that they came into our rooms after we left for the day. The only staff wearing a mask was the front desk clerk, the house keeping staff or maintenance staff both who enter the rooms do not wear masks. Also bring your own pillows because the pillows on the bed are very tiny. Also the pool had way too much chlorine that our eyes were burning even after flushing them out. Nothing to do with the hotel but just a tip, restaurants close early around the hotel so eat early.

Wife and I stayed for 4 nites, it was close to everything, downtown walking distance! Room was very comfy with a great view, had a lake view. Front desk staff were terrific! Bought discounted ferry tickets at a better than on line price, they even called to have a shuttle pick up us. Only down side was breakfast grab and go but that was due to covid , not the hotel fault

Stayed overnight here after spending a day on the island, purchased the ferry tickets at the hotel for a discount price and then the ferry is a block and a half up the road. Ate at the Italian restaurant just down the street, it was good and had a neat atmosphere, our room was on the top floor with a balcony facing the water, I felt the price was very reasonable especially compared to others in the area. The bed and pillows were clean and comfortable and we thought the furniture was actually pretty upscale for a chain hotel. It was nice to at least have the grab and go breakfast and though we didn't use them, the pool is heated and had a nice hot tub as well. What highly recommend.

Best western appeared clean, the hotel front desk staff were polite and pleasant. The pool and hot tub were nice. They had breakfast bags available at the front desk. We asked for a twin roll out bed and it was delivered very fast. The front desk also called to confirm it was delivered. The view was great on the water and there were even fireworks right outside our room.

"Rooms were clean and customer service was great. Th only thing was we were on the lake with a balcony with walls up on each side, could not see the whole lake and the balcony was small". They usually offer Breakfast, but with Convid 19, they are offering Grab and Bag with a juice. They did offer a 50% off one breakfast to the restaurant, Toast and Go across the street, but they are only offering buffet, which we were not comfortable eating at.

My husband and I came for a quick getaway. I booked this hotel because I like a Best Westerns, and it was a great location as I wanted a lakeview room. This hotel was able to provide everything I wanted, indoor pool and hot tub, lakeview room, and great location within the town. Upon arrival, we went to check in at 650pm on Monday night. We waited as they dealt with us for about 10 minutes and I noticed the employees kept taking amongst themselves about rooms and them being clean. After this time, the employee finally had to tell us our room wasn't ready and they needed 20 more minutes. That's the last thing you want to hear after a 7 hour drive at 7pm! When I said “It's 7pm!” He just said sorry. So we left, and came back and our room was ready which was about 20 minutes. Our room was perfect location a small great balcony. Had it been warmer it would have been amazing as you can walk directly out to the beach. Breakfast was okay as I know they have some challenges with Covid but they are trying. They did tell us we could buy discount tickets to the ferry there. So, we did that, and it seemed easy enough. They didn't mention all we bought was a voucher so we still had to stand in line at the ferry to get our tickets. I would absolutely stay here again for the great location, convenience and comfort and cleanliness. Just hoping the check in process would be a little smoother. Another benefit.... free parking!

We always stay at Best Western Dockside when we visit the city. I recommend the lake view especially to view the Friday night fireworks. I book our room through the Mackinaw Chamber of Tourism for discounts on room and local attractions. Great hotel!

There is no breakfast except for a quick grab and go, like a fruit and a water. The desk clerk gave us coupons for breakfast across the street for a buy one get one free buffet and that was perfect. I enjoyed our room with lakeside view and balcony, I wish I could have stayed another night! The sunrise from the balcony was gorgeous!

We stayed in one of the lakeside rooms and it was a great room! The view of the lake was gorgeous. The pool and the facilities overall were really great and very clean. I'd definitely stay again...but would look for a better deal next time.

Very friendly staff, very nice clean rooms, excellent location! Had a room with a balcony that overlooked the beach and the lake! Spent a week here for our honeymoon and will definitely stay here again!

Just returned from our stay in Mackinaw City, MI. This Best Western had a perfect location. Walkable to bars and restaurants. Has its own beach with loungers, tables and chairs. Our room was clean, comfortable, and seemed newly renovated. The front desk agents were very nice and professional. Because of Covid they are not serving breakfast, but they had a "Grab and Go" bag. It had juice, muffin, apple, and a granola bar. Perfect to get you on your way.

We were amazed at how nice the hotel was and how friendly the staff was. It had an amazing view of the lake from our balcony. The beach is right in front of the hotel. It is located close to everything: walking distance the shops, bars, restaurants and ferry!

My husband chose this hotel based on positive reviews of the renovated rooms. While we were provided with a recently renovated room, it seems as if the bathroom was forgotten. The bathroom doorknob was loose - barely attached to the door; the shower curtain was torn and the bathtub appeared dirty. I have also never stayed in a room that had a dehumidifier that I needed to empty as the unit flashed "empty." The "To Go" breakfast was terrible and included spoiled orange juice. The only positive of this hotel was the location to the ferry. Upon check-in, the front desk staff was rude and seemed to be bothered that people wanted assistance with check-in. My siser is planning to visit the area next month and I recommended that she stay somewhere else.

Room/hotel were not cleaned enough for anytime, let alone for Covid-19 specifications. Hotel was very lax in that department (no hand sanitizers anywhere and rooms weren't cleaned enough. The fridge in the room had, in fact, food from previous tenants). Room was very hot when we walked in- AC was turned off, room/bathroom was not cleaned enough and the walk to the elevator is located in a way that you have to push the luggage cart uphill- 2 fit people struggled with it. This room does not include breakfast although the price for a night was fairly steep (almost 200$). The hotel itself needs to be updated- the entire building and room smells of dust/mold/mildew. The staff was unfriendly. All in all, a very disappointing and unpleasant stay.

My girlfriend and I arrived at 10:30PM on Thursday 8/6/20. We notified them earlier that we would be arriving after 10PM. The parking lot was packed, luckily we found the last spot. The people who arrived after had to park next to the front door. I wouldn't have wanted to park there. We received our key for room 224. Upon trying to open it, someone inside said, "I think you guys have the wrong room". Awkward...We went to the front desk, who didn't believe us. Not sure why you would think your customer is lying, but that's besides the point. We received a new key for room 228. Around midnight my girlfriend had gone to the front desk to ask if they had heartburn medication. The woman simply laughed and said no. Definitely could have done without the laugh, but if you have a paying customer you should have recommendations. Luckily we have google and found a 24 hour gas station. We left the room at 1AM. Above our room, upon exiting, there were 4 men listening to very loud rap music and freestyle rapping to the beat. They decided to freestyle rap about my girlfriends body, and what they would do to it. I was shocked and appalled, and my girlfriend felt extremely uncomfortable. Needless to say, there definitely were no rules or enforcement of them. Luckily when we came back they were no longer there. The next day we waited for the shuttle to go to Mackinaw Island. The front desk people could have simply told us it's a 6 minute walk instead of waiting 15 minutes for the shuttle. Again, google to the rescue, so we walked. We arrived back after spending all day hiking and wanted to shower. The room had been clean, but apparently leaving soap is not normal. Who showers when they stay at a hotel anyways? The following day it rained for the majority of the time. We walked around town and came back to the room as the weather was supposed to get worse. We had a Jacuzzi tub in the room, and since our experience had been so poor we decided we would only use it if we cleaned it with bleach. We drove to a nearby market and bought bleach and cleaned the tub. We turned on the jets and a disgusting brown/orange film came out. Clearly it had not been thoroughly cleaned in a long time. My girlfriend complained to the front desk, and they simply offered to send cleaning people. We will never stay here again, especially for how expensive it was.

It is a great facility with a great staff. But when we booked they were advertising( and still are) a full breakfast. When we checked in they said that they were not offering a breakfast because of Covid. If we would have know that going in we could of adapted but we did not, On Sunday we could not find anybodt that would delierer until 4 pm.

On our first night there was noise until 1230am. So our second night it sounded like a herd of elephants again, so I called the front desk at 11pm. The lady said, "Are you sure they're not just having fun?"

The hotel was clean and all the staff was very nice. I asked for a rollaway and got it within minutes. There was no breakfast, but the pool was open. Good location. Walking distance to many restaurants. Love the beach!

Great location right next to fishing pier and close walk to restaurants and shopping. The room and beach was clean. Beds weren't that comfortable and could use new mattresses. No breakfast due to Covid. We didn't use the pool.

The rooms are massive. The beds and sleep quality are great. Only two very minor negatives. The balcony is super small. But at least you can look out a little. The shower and toilet in the bathroom are pretty old. It looks like they've updated the rest of the room but the shower could use a facelift. But all in all it is a nice place and located within walking distance of shops and restaurants. We would happily stay here again in the future.

After reading others reviews, we were a little worried with repeated concerns about cleanliness and needs for updates. We nearly changed our plans because of the reviews, but we are so happy that we didn't. We booked our room to be close to Mackinac Island so that we were able to get there early for check in the following day. We literally went back and forth tryin to decide if we should cancel the room, and felt sad that it seemed to be our best option in the area, but not a good one. I am so happy to say how opposite it was to our expectations. Our room was cleaned perfectly, from baseboards to the screen door track, it was literally spotless. The view and sound of being directly on the Mackinaw Straits is unexplainable. Very close walking distance to shops and food options. Many reported the rooms being dark, but we didn't understand where that came from...during the day there was ample sunlight and at night there was more than sufficient lighting options. Another repeated report we read was damp, smelly rooms...so I brought candles and room spray to prepare...neither was necessary, and didn't even get unpacked...in fact, as you can see in the pictures included, the carpet appeared to be brand new. We were given friendly service and snacks at check in. The rooms are completely updated to my satisfaction (and I am a bit choosy with travel) It was a very pleasant surprise to be over-satisfied with low expectations. And I must note, lake view is worth the extra charge. The beach is wonderful and the lounge chairs and patio area was very nice! Hats off to this place for impressing us. I don't often make reviews, but I thought it needed to be said that this place is a great place and had we known it would have been this nice, we probably would have come a day sooner and stayed 2 nights to enjoy the beach and the surrounding area more.

The room was nice. Very dark. Right on beach. Jacuzzi was not the one I was expecting for a $400 room. The bed was HORRIBLE. So uncomfortable. I reported in morning at check out. They offered nothing.

The staff is fantastic, during this Covid thing. But price is way way high. Pool dirty full of sand. Over crowed parking, laundry carts take up 2 handy cap, spaces. Our beach view was the stairs and the wall. Of course other customers are feeding the sea gulls and u battle the little beach areas they have.

We had a very nice stay here. Our room faced the water, which was really nice! The staff was very helpful and friendly. The location was great! It was an easy walk to the downtown Mackinaw City area and the ferry to the island. The only down side was that we didn't find out that the complimentary breakfast wasn't being offered until we checked into the hotel. We were given a buy one get one free deal at the restaurant across the street. It would have been nice to know beforehand for planning purposes. Overall though, we had a great stay and would stay here again!

We enjoyed the size of our room. Bummed that the continental breakfast was switched to a BOGO at the restaurant across the street. I understand COVID-19 means a lot of changes for everyone but that was not disclosed during booking.

This place needs to be shut down! I paid $350 a night for a room that smelled musty, felt humid, and had visibly worn and outdated furnishings. The worst part was finding thick MOLD growing under the beds! After pointing it out to the front desk employees, (who were either not wearing masks, or wearing them improperly, btw) and showing them the disgusting pics of the mold, they told us they wouldn't find us other accommodations because we had been in the room for over 2 hours. Are you kidding me?! They also stated that our room was one of the driest in the hotel. If that is true, then there is mold growing under all the beds. Worth noting, our room had a dehumidifier in it, so mgmt is obviously aware there is a problem with excessive moisture. The carpet even felt cold and damp. Gross!!! I have filed complaints with the Mackinaw County Health Dept, local Mackinaw news stations and OSHA. I also plan on leaving bad reviews on all the travel websites. This place should not be in business!!

This motel was just okay. Paying for location. Great little beach perfect for kids and great pool area and atrium. Hotel staff very friendly and helpful. The room itself is older and just okay. It was clean but it smelled a bit like smoke and the air conditioning unit had a funny smell when it was on.

This hotel and its staff we're highly competent and courteous in spite of the demand of working under Co-Vid restrictions and changes. We had a two queen, one sofa bed room with mini fridge (they brought in a microwave per request)., a one cup coffee maker. (Paper Cups) Beds were amazingly comfortable with FOUR firm yet fluffy pillows per bed! Internet and cable tv were included. The breakfast we should have had would have been a full buffet hotel style and for a short time they had offered grab and go, which we did not have the privelege of having due to CO-VID. While the pool was fully open, the capacity was lessened by only to 13 while the hot tub had a limit of 3. The hot tub was awesome. Did find some hair in the pool. This hotel also has beach access, with lounge chairs. Pebble rocky on shore, but turns to sand just past that and very shallow for long ways out. There are inner court/parking lot rooms and suites, in addition to lakeside/beach balcony and patio rooms.(up to 4 stories.) I feel the breakfast could have and should have been kept open and offered due to the alternative they came up with which was to have guests go across the street to Toast a Go Go...whereby all the advertising says they are a buffet style breakfast, lunch and dinner establishment...HOWEVER, this place (most likely due to CO-VID AGAIN) looks abandoned except for breakfast...long lines and groups of people waiting on the sidewalk to be "waited on" and charged $15 per person for a square styrofoam container. I did not bother with this as I had been on line to get reviews and most were not good reviews. Also, talked with a young couple who actually went there to get breakfast and they were not too pleased. I think in this case the hotel may have tried putting forth a bit more effort in honoring their promise for a buffet breakfast in their own dining room. THAT SAID: DUE TO CO-VID, AGAIN, they were understaffed. They did amazing taking that into consideration. I must add, that a mix up in family plans, had me cancelling my original reservation and then had me turning around and trying to reserve it back...Michael was great! And managed to not only find my original reservation but also reinstated it at not only my original orice but slightly less than.

Everyone was pleasant and helpful. The refrigerator had defrosted prior to our stay and both maintenance and housekeeping did a wonderful job of correcting /cleaning up the water. After we returned home, my son realized that his pillow was missing. We contacted the hotel and they shipped it back to us.

These rooms are overpriced. Our family had 4 rooms in different places in the hotel. Musty smells and smoke filled rooms. Dirty carpeting. Bathrooms just okay. Would not stay again. In one of the hallways a bat was hanging from the ceiling.

The location of the hotel is perfect. We were just a few minutes walk to Sheplers ferry. We also walked for coffee one morning and enjoyed a small arts and crafts market in the park right outside the front door. Clean hotel. Lovely artwork. Nice pool and hot tub. Sadly, breakfast room closed because of COVID-19 but that was expected. We did hear a leak as the people above us were showering, but it wasn't causing visible damage yet. We had a lovely view of the beach. Showers were hot.

Upon checking in, I asked for an extra roll away bed for my teenage son. While they informed me they had no more roll away available, they could upgrade my room for the same cost of the roll away bed to a room with a sleeper sofa. This blew me away and truly made this stay one to remember. The room itself was facing the lake and had a private balcony; the views and the breeze off the lake are wonderful. The beds were clean and comfortable, and the room had cable tv (and a flatscreen). The refrigerator was a nice option to have for some cold drinks in the evening while the wind was coming off the lake. While there wasn't any breakfast served due to COVID-19, the stay was relaxing and I would go back in a heartbeat.

We stayed here 3 days as we do once a year. Have stayed here many times. It cost over 1k for 3 days but to be expected here during tourist season. This year has been very disappointing. First, Kirt at the front desk provided excellent service. He was very helpful and knowledgeable in the operations. This was important as we had family with us and had secured a two room suite. This was in contrast to a lady at the desk the next morning. We had an issue with our key and she was abrupt and rude. On our last day, we stopped by the office for coffee at 9am. Pot was empty and we asked the clerk about it and without even looking up, she said “ l will make some in a few minutes”. She wasn't helping anyone and seemed irritated that we asked. We had seen others complain of no coffee made the previous morning. Also, with the COVID issue, breakfast is no longer served and all you get are coupons for a restaurant close by. Despite this, the room rates have increased. The rooms were large but are getting very worn and outdated. Drawers that didn't close properly, electrical outlets that didn't work, lights out in the bathroom, squeaky doors and a toilet seat that was about to fall off. Also, bed comforter had what appeared to he tree leafs on it and the bathroom towels and wash cloths were terrible. They are worn out and stained. We found dirt along baseboards and long hairs in the bathroom. And ceiling fan was dirt coated. We also observed housekeeping staff separating bins of dirty laundry with no gloves or masks on which makes me question their commitment to sanitizing rooms and common areas. The shampoo and other items provided are very low grade and very very small. Unfortunately, it appears this location knows that people will come and are willing to pay a lot to see this area despite these issues so they are doing little to improve and update the facility.

This stay was a very delightful stay! The staff was great and very helpful. The rooms were very clean. The beach was very nice, tv offers HBO and that was a plus for my husband and the kids to watch while we wined down from a very active couple of days. The beds were very comfortable and clean. One minor detail was the sheets did not seem to fit the bed corectly. I adjusted them to cover as best as possible. The pool was great and best part it stays open late. The beach area had plenty to sit and lay on and the water was clear. One incident we had was that we noticed our air conditioning was out right before bed, at about 11 pm. When I called the desk upfront to notify them, they right away stated they would send someone. Sure enough, a gentleman showed up about 20 min later. I felt horrible because he was on-call, and was woken up in the middle of the night. Not on the actual premise. Even though he was called in he was so professional and apologetic and so was the front desk gentleman for the incident. Turns out he didn't have a unit in stock that night, but offered to bring us fans. It wasn't horribly hot, so I just told him it was ok to just wait till the next day. We went to the Island the next day and to out surprise when we got back we had both the air running and working great! They went above and beyond and I am so greatful for that. Thank you to all the staff!!!!

Stayed here a year and a half ago, and this place was much better then. Drywall joints are cracking on the ceiling, screen door was ripped, and doesn't stay on the track. Bed sheets were put on wrong. Wife had to remake beds. Carpet was kinda dirty and the room smell a bit bad.

Was unhappy due no hot breakfast elevator taken down during our stay with no notice. Room was not ready took another 2 hours to get in room past checkin promised call when ready never received it. Not enough parking. When I went to office nothing was done about it. At checkin was not informed we had to ask for cleaning next day.

This was the worst hotel stay I've ever had, and I travel very frequently. First, this is a COVID-19 environment, so I asked for a room where no one has stayed for a day or two. They assigned a room to me stating that it had been empty a few days, but when I entered the toilet seat was up and there was a dirty towel hanging. When I called down to the desk, they moved us to a new room, but said it wasn't possible to give us a room where no one has stayed recently because they had been fully occupied. That was inconsistent with what desk agent told me. Further, there were no COVID-19 protocols in place in the lobby - no staff work face coverings, there was no signage asking guests to wear face coverings, and the indoor pool was packed with people. But they did not provide breakfast because of COVID. The website indicated there would be breakfast, and there was no discount for failure to supply it. Other northern Michigan hotels provide pre-packaged breakfast choices. It's odd that breakfast is the only protocol they decided to follow. And, the walls were very thin - we could hear the television from a nearby room into the very late hours. I will not stay here again.

Super happy with my experience here. Sometimes Best Western can be a mixed bag. But this hotel delivered. I got a lake front room with balcony, capacity to sleep five on the 4th floor. I can hear the waves lapping on the shore as I lay on a very comfortable queen bed. The decorations are well appointed, high ceilings everything is very clean. Also the location is perfect, close to town but not in the town. I would highly recommend this hotel while itis competatively priced.

The room itself wasn't too awful, but it was definitely dingy and outdated. Upon arrival for check-in my elderly mother was treated very poorly. She was also told no breakfast, but not why (found out why later it was because of COVID) and we were given a buy 1 get 1 free (for 3 people mind you) coupon to go to this place across the street. This wouldn't have been an issue had they first explained politely the reason why and given us an actual discount for the room since the continental breakfast was included in this fee. We ended up not even going to the restaurant since it was packed and customers coming out after having eaten told us the food was cold and the staff was rude. The only real perk was being on the first floor and being able to walk right out onto the beach.

At check-in, front desk sent us to dirty room. Then was told that we needed to come back in a few hours instead of giving us a different room. Employees did not seem to care and brushed the problem off

This is a very nice hotel, with an awesome location right on the waterfront and walking distance to shopping and the ferry. The rooms are nice, the staff always friendly and helpfull. Great pool and some extra "community" areas where you can sit and chat or play a board game. It's a bit of a walk to the breakfast area, but well worth it.

We absolutely love our trips to Mackinac. We always stay at this hotel and travel over daily to the island because this hotel is worth it. The staff are always friendly and helpful. The hotel rooms are always clean and well maintained. They have a full breakfast that is hot and delicious with a wide variety to choose from. This is our very favorite place to stay when away from home.

Between the time I made my reservation and my actual stay, a 5 day period, the Best Western Dockside closed for the season. My reservation was transferred and upgraded to the Hamilton Inn Select. All around experience at the Hamilton Inn Select -- EXCELLENT!

We stayed several nights, and enjoyed the experience. The hotel is clean and well-maintained; with a comfortable rustic ambiance. Parking is somewhat limited, especially when returning to the property later in the evening. Check-in was efficient and informative. There are stairs (or an elevator), for access to the outside corridors leading to one's room. Our room was a bit dated, but comfortable, with a nice view of the Lake (and a number of ducks). The large breakfast area, on the 3rd floor above the lobby; provided a decent breakfast, with a number of items from which to choose. The front-desk staff were helpful in purchasing our ferry tickets (at a reduced cost), and arranging our trolley tour (which picked us up at the hotel). They also called for the shuttle, which took us to the ferry. All and all; this was a solid option for a pleasant stay, while in the area.

The appearance of the entry area and lobby are very inviting, clean and spacious. It was as pictured on the web site but they do not light up the breakfast area so it is not as lovely at night as it looks pictured. The staff was efficient and mildly friendly and helpful with my ferry ticket purchase - discounted. Parking was good. The room was on the second floor which was nice as the lake front rooms on first floor are like the lower half of a bi-level. The lake view is wonderful and the sunrise is amazing. It was clean and the housekeeping staff did a good job resupplying each day. It was sufficient space with 2 very small queen beds (if they were queen) which were very comfy and excellent pillows. The bathroom was basic and small. Only problems were the HVAC unit was so loud and the toilet room fan came on with the light so there was no way to afford light without the LOUD fan. Other than the fan noise, the room was very quiet, away from the road and only wave noise if you enjoy that on a windy day. The beach looked very inviting and would be a real plus in season.Think the location is tops and would stay here again. Breakfast was sufficient and the attendant was outstanding.

Most if not all hotel/motels in Mackinaw are all for profit only. They don't care about your stay they will fill up without you. We have stayed at 4 different places. If you visit Mackinaw City and want a nice place to stay go somewhere else.

Hotel was very clean with comfortable beds and room was newly rentovated. Breakfast in the morning was great. Good selection and nice and hot. Hotel staff was great and pool was very clean. Hotel was in great walking distance for attractions and restaurants and the water view was excellent.

Very professional & friendly staff. It was busy at check in but they got to us quickly considering the amount of people in the lobby. Our room had a jacuzzi which we used. We could ride our bicycles to downtown Mackinaw City & the ferries over to Mackinac Island. There was a gift & candy shop across the street from this hotel. Nice spread for breakfast. Most restaurants & a Starbucks are a 5 minute bicycle ride away in downtown Mackinaw City. Parking can be tricky in Mackinaw City so we kept our car at the hotel. To be fair there are free public lots in town, street parking can be tricky at times. Great stay at this hotel and we would stay here again on our next visit.

My husband and I enjoyed our stay here very much. We booked an ocean view room, and asked for second floor or above. We were given a room on the second floor with a lovely view of the lake. We knew upon reserving our room that this was probably an older hotel that'd been renovated, so we wondered just how nice the rooms would be. But with so many great reviews, we decided to book our stay here. We weren't disappointed! Our room was clean, comfortable, and well appointed. Updates seem to be recent, as everything was beautiful and in great shape. The breakfast buffet is generous, not gourmet fare, but supplied ample choices for most everyone. One more thing we liked was that it's within walking distance of downtown restaurants, shops, and sttrsctions. Another note, if you take the ferry to Mackinac Island, buy your tickets at the hotel's front desk - they offer a discount. We enjoyed our stay here immensely. If in the area again, we would definitely stay here.

Overall this was a good hotel. Our room was beachside on level 1, which meant we were in the basement. There are stairs no matter where you stay in this hotel. The breakfast lounge is even on the 3rd floor. The staff was not super-pleasant. They seemed like they didn't want to be there. The breakfast was awful. We stayed two nights, but on the second morning, we didn't even eat breakfast there. Plus the breakfast lounge gets horrible sun in the morning. It was a convenient and clean hotel, but I was no overly impressed.

We stayed here in October 2019. If you take a room on the courtyard side (which is less expensive), the rooms open to the outside versus an interior corridor. You'll have to go outside your room to go up to the breakfast room on the third floor or the fitness area. It looks like the rooms facing Lake Huron have an interior corridor, however. Breakfast was excellent - scrambled eggs, sausage, waffles, donuts, delicious biscuits. Hotel check in was efficent and fast; was not offered an express check out option. The hotel is beautifully landscaped, very clean, and has a private beach. This is a somewhat older hotel, and the room shows some age, but it was very clean, had a new flat screen TV, and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom is very small, with the sink located outside the toilet/shower. Good selection of cable TV station better than at many hotels I've stayed at. Overall, I would definitely stay here again, even though I'm not fond of rooms which open directly to the outside.

**I chose this hotel based on reviews I had read. Room was clean and beds were decent. Was assigned a lakeside room, which was a pleasant surprise. The lake was a BEAUTIFUL sight when we awoke after getting in late at night. Glad we were given a lakeside room. :-) **The Best Western Plus Dockside Waterfront Inn has outdoor corridors to rooms--not your typical hotel plan. No problem in nice weather. The breakfast room is accessed by walking outside to get to the third floor room. Breakfast room was spacious and clean. Food was normal complimentary breakfast. Staff was pleasant. **We arrived after midnight and no regular parking spaces were available. Clerk directed us to park in the one remaining handicap space. **Had to go down a few steps to get to the elevator--again, it was an unusual layout. Not bad--just different. **The location would be excellent for anyone wanting to go on the ferry or to walk around the dockside area. Restaurant right across the street. Not too far from the freeway on ramp.

I will not recommend this hotel, We call the hotel direct and booked a room with a water view. We got a confirmation number over the phone. We arrived at the hotel on Sept 30, 2019, checked in and got our room number. My wife went in the room they assigned us and it was a first floor room that was like a dungeon. No water view. Big hot tub in the room. Only window was next to the door and both the door and the window had a wall in front of them so you could not even see the parking lot or have sunlight come into the room. It reminded my wife of a room you would see in a murder/kidnap horror movie. We never bought anything into the room. Went back to the desk to get the room with a water/lake view that we had booked and the desk manager said that they had no water view rooms available. All of them were booked for a bus tour group. We asked, what could they do for us because they booked us the wrong room. They said they had no water view rooms and they would not refund any of our full payment we had just put on our credit card. They insisted they would not refund our money unless someone else took that room, that night. Yea right, someone to take the most likely, worst room in the complex, in the off season. We tried appealing to a higher level. Best Western Corporate will not refund our money either. So the short story is; Western makes a mistake on our room reservation, they will not or can not fix it, They will not refund our money they charged to our credit card. And we had to go next door to the Comfort Inn where we were able to get a nice water view room.

Very nice room and great hosts. A very good value. We arrived late and were anxious to shower and get some rest. In the morning when we opened the drapes the sun was rising over Lake Huron. What an awesome way to start the day!

"My family and I stayed at the Mackinac City Best Western Dockside on Sept. 21, 2019. We arrived late Friday and missed the Ferry for our stay on the island. We decided to see if BW had any vacancies. They did not but went the extra mile for us and called around to find us a place to stay. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the room was very clean and pleasant with a lovely lake view, tasty breakfast...what more could you ask for?"

We had a great Queen room with a sofa bed on 4th floor with a balcony overlooking Lake Huron. Loved the view plus the sunrise we observed over the water. Left the balcony door open to hear the sound of the waves hitting the shore. Breakfast had a great variety and was well stocked. Lots of people had the same idea for breakfast time, so we occasionally found ourselves sitting with someone else, but we met some new people. The pool was heated and clean as was the hot tub. That was so relaxing after a day of sightseeing. The weather wasn't the best while we were there, but that wasn't the hotel's fault. Used that time in the pool & hot tub. When the skies allowed we used the beach also. Staff was friendly and provided all we needed. Received a tip on buying our ferry ticket directly at Sheplers since my husband is a veteran & received a discount. Would definately stay at Best Western again. Great location. Booked hotel through the Mackinaw City Chamber of Commerce - great site.

Great view of the lake with a good hot meal breakfast option in the morning. Limited with the number of single beds so there were two of us and we had to pay for a room with two beds even though we didn't want it or used it. The rooms were a little more expensive even with the view then I would normally pay but because we were on a trip for our first anniversary we spent the extra money. On our last night there we had a fireworks show water. It was beautiful but it was not for us, just happened to be great timing.

Very clean rooms & hotel. Breakfast was good & staff very friendly and helpful. Would stay again. Location was perfect for walking around and not having to get into your care until you were ready to leave the area.

Best western was my go-to lodging years ago. During my career I usually stayed where the company arranged, and used points for deals at those hotels. Retirement has me searching for value. I have found that with the updated BW properties. Consistent quality and competitive prices make this the lodging of choice once again. The BW Dockside fit the bill perfectly. A view of the bridge from my room, walking distance to downtown Mackinaw City and many other amenities made this an enjoyable retreat. I had stayed at this location before and with the updates it even better now.

We were just here for 2 nights that were nice. We had a waterfront room on the top floor, so it was quiet with a good view. Quite clean. They have a good breafkast buffet, not outstanding but quite adequate, and the server kept everything refilled as there was quite a crowd. When checking in the desk clerk told us they sold discounted ferry tickets to the island, so after checking on-line prices I confirmed they were a couple of bucks cheaper, so we bought from the front desk. They also called for the shuttle van to the ferry, even though it was only about 1/4 mile away.

The staff was nice, friendly, and helpful. They got us discount tickets for the ferry, and were able to line out the Shepler's Ferry shuttle to pick us up at the hotel, which was most convenient. Everything was clean, and our room was large. The beds were comfortable (we had a room with two queen beds). The room layout was a little awkward, in that the sink was in the bedroom area, which makes it harder for one person to get up early without disturbing others. They also don't provide a towel rack in the sink area, so you have to hang the hand towel in the room with the toilet and shower. That could easily be fixed with a towel rack or hook in the sink area. That seems like a small thing, but it was an annoyance. Overall we enjoyed the stay.

How great is it to be so close to the ferry over to Mackinac Island that you can leave your car in the hotel parking lot and walk to the ferry landing?! Now...add to that the convenience of being able to purchase your ferry tickets right at the hotel AND for a discounted price! We stayed at this Best Western for 2 nights and it is so conveniently located that it just can't be beat! As always, a continental breakfast is included with your stay (loved the yogurt machine and toppings!) which is more than adequate to start your day! Such sweet employees at this location--from the front desk, to those who keep the rooms clean, and then the ones who keep that breakfast area clean, stocked, and ready for the next set of guests! Shops and restaurants all within walking distance as well! Great lake-front location, too!

Second time we stayed here, great price, decent breakfast, clean rooms, great views in lake side rooms with balconies. Beach and patio out back for warm weather. Staff at front deck stood out to us because they were so nice. Not like most hotels we've been to.

This property provides a great value for the experience. It begins with the front desk...the staff was efficient and very pleasant to deal with. The property is very well maintained: - buildings are in very good condition - rooms very clean - pool area and whirlpool very clean - dining area large and pleasant Breakfast buffet had a good selection and was frequently replenished. Location is close to restaurants, shops and the ferry. Discount ferry tickets available at the front desk. Get the lakeside view if you have the option. And, once again, really appreciated the staff. We will definitely return!

The front staff was very friendly and efficient. The room, including the balcony was much cleaner and updated than a couple of other hotels down the street. The location made it a much easier walk to downtown and the docks. The exterior was also cleaner and updated than the others we have stayed at in the past.

We have stayed here before , however this is the first time we have had a lakeside room, and now we are spoiled and will request this EVERY time we stay here in the future , AND THERE WILL BE MORE TIME THAT WE STAY HERE!!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Best Western Plus Dockside Waterfront Inn. The room was very large and felt like a studion apartment rather than a motel room. we were located on the lakeside and had a beautiful view and a small deck. It was great. We only wish it had been a little warmer so we could have enjoyed it more. The location was perfect--a very short walk to the main street and the ferry. The ladies at the front desk were so nice! They helped us with getting to the ferry and recommending restauratnts in Mackinaw City. They were always smiling and so pleasant, not to mention very efficient. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend this Best Western to future travelers. Thank you to all!!

Great view from the waterfront rooms! Staff was very helpful! We were able to purchase discounted Mackinac ferry tickets and they provided a shuttle to the boat docks. Free breakfast was plentiful and served in a nice space. Would recommend the hotel!

Best Western has an excellent location and a friendly and helpful staff! It even has beach front property! It is close to the docks with shuttle service. Close to town too! I had stayed here before this stay and will go back again!

Very clean rooms, friendly staff, ample parking. We have stayed in several hotels in Mackinaw City - one issue we typically run into is a lack of parking. This week we had no issues. Even on Saturday night with the truck parade. The staff was extremely friendly and quick to help answer any questions. The rooms were cleaned every day and the beds were made with military precision. Breakfast had ample choices and they were never out of any of the items. We will gladly stay here again and will recommend it to others.

Stayed one night prior to going to the Island for the week. Requested the same room as we have always had(112). The furniture and carpet are new for 2019. The fitness center and breakfast bar were the same as before, which is a good thing. We had no issues during our stay. check in and check out were fast and the staff was as friendly as always.

Stayed at the Best Western Dockside over the Labor Day weekend. The room was clean and the staff was pleasant. The breakfast bar was awesome. Had to call maintenance for a small issue but they were nowhere to be found. The front desk staff handled it and were very apologetic.

We stayed here one night during Labor Day weekend. Our room was located right next to the street and our view was of the walkway between the rooms and the pool. We booked in March and expected something a little better. The room was extremely dated with 70's decor and no USB outlets for our electronics. The shower had Luke warm water at 6:30 am on a Sunday. Breakfast was typical continental fanfare with powdered eggs and no low carb options. We purchased our fairy tickets to the island when we booked the room only to find that they were not running that schedule during our stay and had to purchase an upgrade. Staff was friendly and we did enjoy the pool and hot tub, We paid $300 for the night plus taxes and fees. For that price I would not stay here again.

Booked ONE room for TWO nights through Travelocity. Had written confirmation as well. At check in, hotel had down TWO rooms for TWO nights and charged to our credit card. Never mentioned until I was handed TWO sets of room keys. After 45 minutes of absolutely no admission of error on their part and constantly telling us to call Expedia, who owns Travelocity, and a threat to call the police, I called the credit card company and filed a protest on the charges, called Travelocity who called the hotel and got the room charges corrected. When we got home, there was a message from the hotel, specifically the manager we spoke with, confirming our upcoming reservation for TWO rooms, TWO nights lodging. The time on our answering machine was 2:32 pm the day of our check-in. Interestingly, that was the exact time we were in the lobby arguing about this problem and waiting for the manager who was suppose to be calling Expedia. When she finally stepped out of her office, she said she did call Expedia who told her to “just go ahead and charge us the extra fees”. Right, and pigs really do fly! To top this all off, we were going to return to this hotel the upcoming Sunday for ONE night after visiting the U.P.. After putting our items in our room, we thought we better check on that reservation too and guess what, they had no record of that reservation! I used Booking.com for that reservation which I also had written confirmation of and guess what I was told regarding this error? “You must call Expedia.” That's when we went to City Hall and filed a complaint with their township, the police department, and they gave us the Tourist Association phone number, and suggested the BBB as well. I am also going to file a report with the Michigan Attorney General. DO NOT STAY AT ANY OF THE HOTEL CHAINS...the same crook owns them all. Stay at the mom/pop motels...not as fancy but clean and decent people who APPRECIATE your business.

In additional to big clean rooms, wonderful community space, and proximity to attractions, the staff makes the place simply fantastic. They greet you will a smile and handle everything cheerfully. The A / B style rooms are perfect suites for families or groups of friends.

Walking distance to Mackinac Island ferries, shops and restaurants, this upscale Best Western is a good choice for a Mackinaw City stay. Our room 418 on the top floor had plenty of space, vaulted ceilings a beautiful view of lake Huron, comfortable beds and a balcony. Elevator access is helpful. The fitness room is large with three treadmills, one elliptical and one recumbent bike. Breakfast room is huge with the usual scrambled eggs, sausage, oatmeal, fruit, cereals, coffee and juices available. Staff are very helpful. There is a private sandy beach, large clean indoor pool and hot tub. Request a lakeside room on the 4th floor, they have vaulted ceilings and are worth the extra cost.

Hotel was in an excellent location. We never had to drive anywhere, just walked. Rooms are average, breakfast wasnt very good. I wouldn't have a problem coming back. Staff was helpful and willing to assist any way they could.

We recently stayed at the Best Western Mackinaw City on a Tuesday night when on our trip to the area. We stayed at Super 8 Bridgeview the night before, and Best Western was SO MUCH better!! We did not realize that we would spend enough time in Mackinaw City to spend a second night, so we needed to look for somewhere else. There were several hotels that had vacancies at 4:30 in the afternoon along the hotel strip, so we had no problem walking in and getting a room at Best Western without a reservation. We had actually stayed here about 10 years ago on another trip to the area, and we decided to come back based on our positive experiences then. The front desk clerk (and all staff) was very friendly. They were actually out of lake view balcony rooms, so we had to go with a "courtyard" room, which was fine. The room was still about $200 without a lake view, so I don't know what they were charging for the lake view rooms. We still really enjoyed our room, and it was very clean and comfortable. We were on the 2nd floor, and it is nice that an elevator is available for taking in luggage. The rooms here have exterior corridors, so you have to walk outside to get anywhere, but luckily, the weather was beautiful during our stay. The hotel was close to everything we wanted to see and do in Mackinaw City, and we walked to Nonna Lisa's for a nice dinner. We also went to the concert in the park that is held on Tuesday nights, and we saw an enjoyable civic band concert! This was very close to the hotel, too, and within walking distance. We enjoyed using the indoor pool and hot tub on Tuesday night, and this is a very nice area just off the lobby. It was busy when we were down, but we still found the hot tub to be relaxing. The pool was a bit cool, but it was better once you got moving in it. Overall, the pool area here is great, and I would recommend using it! We also were happy to see a fitness room available on the 4th floor (nice for a view!), and we used that for a while. The beds in our room were very comfortable, and we all slept great and woke up refreshed the next morning! We absolutely loved the breakfast the next morning, and this was some breakfast! It is held on the 3rd floor above the lobby, but that provides a nice view. Again, an elevator is available, so this area should be accessible for everyone. This was one of our favorite breakfasts on this trip! They had an amazing selection with something for everyone. I particularly enjoyed the biscuits and gravy, and the sausage gravy was actually very appetizing here. The eggs and sausage were also good, and I enjoyed the prepared oatmeal with various toppings. We all had a satisfying breakfast. Everything at this hotel seems to be in very good shape, and they seem to be cleaning and maintaining things all the time! We also enjoyed walking out to the beach a few times, and they have a nice area with beach access on Lake Huron. We should have just stayed here 2 nights, and will have to consider that for next time! This was a great hotel in Mackinaw City, and Best Western properties really seem to be stepping up their game lately, as I have stayed in many nice Best Westerns over the past few years!

My husband and I stayed here and had a great time! It is walking distance to all the shops and many great restaurants! There are great views of the water! There is free hot breakfast in the morning! The breakfast room was clean and the food was really good! We were partial to the waffles and sausage! The staff was friendly and helpful with any questions we had! We will definitely stay here again!

This was the perfect place to stay before we headed off to Mackinac Island. We stayed in a double queen room and it was very clean and spacious. We were able to walk to everything we wanted to see that evening and it was only a minute from the Star Line Ferry boarding area when we left the next day. Our boys loved the big indoor pool and hot tub area. The breakfast area had A LOT of seating and a big spread of food options. We highly recommend staying here if you are visiting the area!

Great location! We walked to almost everything in town. Being right on the water was great for playing on the beach. The check in/out staff were very friendly, efficient and helpful. The breakfast buffet had great variety and was delicious. Our room was very nice and we loved that our fourth floor room had a ceiling fan. When we bring our family back to Mackinac City, we'll definitely return here to stay!

Clean. Quiet and peaceful. Great location within walking distance from shops and ferry docks. Recommend. I really have no complaints. I stayed here for a solo trip to bounce around up north. The beach was calm and relaxing as well.

I selected the property for our family vacation. It was a beachfront property, close to downtown and the ferry. Everything was in walking distance. They had an indoor pool just in case it was a little chilly for the kids to be on the beach. Petrona and the other ladies at the front desk were great. They offered discount pricing on ferry tickets. The kids enjoyed themselves.

Location was perfect for our trip. Easy walk to downtown, restaurants, and to catch the ferry. Thought the breakfast was good. Rooms were clean. Thought that the beach at the hotel was great for relaxing.

Nice clean place, walking distance to restaurants, coffee shop, candy shops etc. We had a third floor room with balcony facing the lake on the beach. Our granddaughters loved playing on the beach and seeing a sunrise. Pool and hot tub were really nice. They had a well stocked breakfast bar with sausage,gravy, bisquits, eggs, waffles, fresh fruit, bagels etc. Ladies at the front sesk were awesome and saved us money for the ferry and carriage ride at Mackinaw Island. Would definitely stay here again.

Pretty big place, we liked the location a lot - it let us park the car and walk. 5 minutes to ferry (Sheppler) and to downtown. Surprised by the HUGE breakfast room - it was great because they move a lot of people through. Decent selection, and the staff really hustled to keep everything stocked. Would have been 5 stars, except for the price - over $250/night for a room seems high.

I stayed here with my family, and had a lake side room. We have stayed here for the 10 previous seasons. The rooms had been updated, and were very nice. The view of the beach is gorgeous. The breakfast is so/so. You are a short walk to town and across the street there is a convenience store. The rooms have refrigerators -- I wish they also had microwaves. The pool area is nice; staff was super friendly. I was not disappointed.

This is an awful hotel. There is a giant Jacuzzi that takes up a third of the room. The smell is awful. The heating cooling is some sort of apparatus sitting under the sink. It is extremely dark in the room which is possibly a good thing to hide the hideous decor. I will not stay at a Best Western again. For over $300 you can get a nice room in NYC.

over priced, terrible dust in room, bedding smelled. if this wasn't on the water it would be closed in 6 months, wont go back here again. I will try somewhere else. don't understand why linen is sorted right outside lobby entrance

We stayed at this hotel two nights. We had a room overlooking the lake on the 3rd floor. There wasn't an elevator, but it wasn't a big deal to me. The room was nice and comfortable. There was a nice little beach area with beach chairs by the water. The water was cold, but the view was awesome. The hotel is located right in the middle of things. Lots of places within walking distance. We puchased our Ferry tickets at the hotel, and they told us it was the cheapest place to get them, $22.00 each. The breakfast was okay, only sausage, no bacon and no potatoes. Would I stay at this hotel again? Well, only if I wasn't footing the bill. We paid approximately $657.00 for two nights, which I think is very overpriced.

After a beautiful day biking on the unique and superb Mackinac Island, you just want to come back to a clean shower, a fresh bed and wake up the next morning to enjoy the sunrise with a hot cup of coffee, in your pyjamas, on your well-deserved waterfront balcony... Those were our expectations when we booked the first rated and most expensive hotel in Mackinaw City, just because we have so little vacation days and we try to avoid any "surprises" that might ruin them... Well, don't set your hopes too high solely based on the price you pay for the room, and here is some advice that proves my point: Do not dare do leave your pyjamas on the bed or forget to hang the "Please clean my room" sign on the door when you leave the room (if you are provided with one, we were not...) as they try really hard to find a reason not to make your bed or clean your room... That was a first for us and we do travel a lot... We've felt ripped off big time paying US $325 a night to end up being punished and cut off from housekeeping (I repeat, because we left our pyjamas ONLY! on the bed... nothing else...) and more to that... no toiletries refills for your shower needs on your second day (4 people showering from one little shampoo bottle for two days), no clean cups for the second night. Trying to make the best of our stay on the second morning, we called reception to get a new pack of coffee for the coffeemaker (we used the only one provided on our first morning, of course, but I guess they did not expect us to touch anything...). They informed us they had fresh coffee in the lobby non stop … and only after, they had decided we did deserve at least our morning coffee for the price we paid... and brought some to us... Really disappointed with this totally unexpected Best Western experience!

The room was spotless. You could bounce a coin on the crisply made beds.The staff is excellent! I I am a coffee drinking insomniac and the coffee in the lobby is alway fresh and hot. The stay at this hotel was the end of a two week road trip and was by far the most pleasant stay.

Our beachfront room was really nice and comfortable Everyone was very helpful and friendly throughout our stay. Purchase your island ferry tickets at the front desk, convenient and cheaper. This location can't be beat. Walking distance to almost everything. We will stay here again!

Could use a good paint job and training for the reception staff who were rude. Hot breakfast food was cold and not replaced when empty. Falls short of the usual Best Western Plus quality. Only good thing was the beach.

Hotel was dirty, bathroom were gross and overall the room smelt horrible. The hotel pool had hair everywhere and the hot tub had sand or who knows in ot. I would never stay here again nor would l recommend to others.

By far the most favorite place my wife and I stayed in northern Michigan. The hotel appears to be recently or in the process of a complete makeover. What makes this place is its central location in the center of the nicest part of the area. Right on the beach, very quiet at night. The hotel is different than others in that the rooms appear more soundproof. The rooms are extremely clean and the staff can be seen hard at work in maintaining the property. The Breakfast buffet is good if you get to it early though was very well stocked awhile it was open. The staff appears very informative, helpful but the location is great. My wife and I will definitely be returning next year to this same hotel when visiting. The temperature system for the room was the best we have ever experienced. Very quiet and actually maintained a constant, comfortable temperature when set.

We always stay at this hotel for the annual mustang stampede in mackinaw. it is right next to the show. It has comfortable rooms and a lovely beach. we get the beachfront rooms with balcony and enjoy the view!

Great Lake view and short walk to ferry. BUT...the room was a mess and no one seemed to care. We get that waterfront hotels are not always great..but this was ridiculous. A few “lowlights” 1. Toilet kept moving...not fastened to floor. 2.shower curtain had a large stain 3. Ceiling above tub was gross and 4. There were hairs stuck to the tub surround when we checked in. Even worse..we told two folks and no one has gotten back to us to this day. Oh well.

We drove up to Mackinaw City after a stay at Traverse City. No reservations but they had openings on a Sunday night. Front desk staff were helpful. Got a water view room with a balcony. Nice sandy private beach. This is a family friendly hotel but still ok for empty nesters. Rooms are clean, beds comfortable. Easy walking distance from all the tourist attractions.

Had a wonderful stay, I totally recommend this hotel, walking distance to center court, food and more , close to everything , best free breakfast around , my husband really loved the biscuits and gravy , workers a very friendly , rooms were clean and well kept , the beautiful beach has nice lounging chairs and beautiful sand, no rocks, already have my next stay booked

Not sure how this hotel has the rating it does, but we are disappointed, to say the least. We arrived about 4:00 pm and there was trash everywhere, rooms were being cleaned, but the property was a mess. The elevator is down a steep ramp, and reeks of cigarette smoke. There are no towel racks or rings by the sink area, so you can either hang your hand towel in the separate toilet/shower room, or just pile them on the counter by the sink. The light in the toilet/shower room also turns the fan on, which sounds like a freight train going through. Our TV only shows one channel - Disney. The TV channel listing by the bed has 90 channels. We have Disney. We are adults and would enjoy something else to watch. We have talked to 5 different people now about getting the correct remote. Going on 30 minutes and the 2 people who would “be there shortly” have not arrived. The receptionist who checked us in was not friendly, warm, or anything but tersely informative and rather angry the she had to check us in. The room itself is quite dated with no USB port to be found. Do not plan on charging your phone. It is mostly clean and stocked, but nothing special. We will not stay here again, and will likely look elsewhere for tomorrow night. Do yourself a favor and do not book this hotel. Beach access is available all over town.

We stayed for 3 nights. Pros: proximity to everything-we walked every where. Pool-apparently can get passes to water parks but wasn't explained/nor offered that at check in and was busy enough with area attractions didn't have time to use anyways. Get the coupons/discounts when you check in to area attractions, restaurants Breakfast Guest laundry onsite-hopeful they repaired broken dryer Cons: The first night, the noise from the neighbors kept us up most of the night because the walls are thin. We heard everything. AC kept squealing every time it reached temp and shut off. Beach was just ok. Breakfast-standard hotel breakfast. Got there when opened and stuff in warmers was cold. Ladies work their rears off in there, as 2nd day went later and it was packed full of people-so pro/con on this. Biggest con-isn't worth the price. Yes you're on the water, but unless you plan to spent a lot of time at the hotel while on vacation, it isn't worth the price. Stay a couple blocks off the water and prices are better. Others complain about mayflies, yes they are there, they were not a huge nuisance to us.

We have been coming to Mackinac for 23 years now,5 time is this Motel, newly renovated rooms are very nice, beach this year has not been cleaned the whole week we have been here. Last year they took our advice and used a tractor to smooth & clean the beach, not sure what happened this year but it needs it desperately. Other than that kind staff & clean rooms. Good continental breakfast.

Spent two nights at this hotel and had a nice time. Hotel was convenient for things we wanted to see and do, room was clean, breakfast was good and staff was friendly and helpful when we purchased tickets to go on the ferry to Mackinaw Island for the day. We would stay here again.

This is the first time I've stayed at a BW since I vowed “never again” in 1988. There was quite a draft in the room, but we were pleasantly surprised by the nicely furnished room overlooking the water with beautiful sunrise views! The crowded complimentary breakfast included yogurt cups, make-your-own waffles, buffet sausage/eggs, cereal, milk, coffee, tea, etc. to be consumed in the cafe, not in your room.

We had been traveling for about a week, this was our fourth hotel. We had stayed in a BW in Sault Ste Marie which was newer and bright. This property was neither. It was adequate, but very dark interior and very low wattage light bulb in the bathroom and other lamps in the room. The bedspreads were burgandy/gold and looked like a couch cover from the 1980's. The view was spectacular, but the internet was early 1990 speed....as in dial up. It was slow when it worked. This was kind of a downer since we had been in the UP and out of touch for a few days. We had no luck getting into the some webcams. One of us used their phone as the hot spot/wi-fi to get better connection. We did not find the elevator, so I agree with another review that better signs would be helpful. Overall, a little overpriced but the view was great and the location perfect....as long as you don't care about internet access it's a good hotel.

We had a wonderful time! Room were great, service was fantastic. We had a Lakeview balcony room & the view was unbeatable. There was a fireworks display on one of the nights & we had great seats sitting on our balcony. The beach was clean & the kid's had a ball. Walking distance to everything. Highly recommended ☆☆☆☆☆

We arrived at Best Western Plus Dockside Waterfront Inn and it was wonderful! Best staff....so helpful and friendly. The staff is very efficient. Helped us with our tickets for the trip to Mackinac Island, buggy ride, and trolley tour! The rooms are perfect. Right on the water The breakfast bar had something for everyone. Everything is within walking distance...shops, restaurants, FUDGE!

Very nice room, friendly service and good breakfast. The location is excellent. It is close to all of the attractions of the city. You can also get a view of the magnificent bridge links the lower and upper peninsulas.

Our 2-night stay at Dockside was good. No complaints. Our room was made up nicely each day. The decor was a bit dark with almost everything in the room a shade of brown. Finding the elevator was a challenge--maybe more visible signs? There are a lot of different levels and ramps from one building to another. Breakfast was ok. It was hard to find some essentials like butter and silverware but they were found. We were told about the midges---large mosquito type flying bugs and how they couldn't spray and not to worry about them. At least they don't bite. Not being able to sit out on the balcony was a big no though b/c of them! The location of the hotel is right on S Huron near the ferries. In fact check with the helpful desk staff and they can call a free shuttle for Starline Ferry. They will also sell you ferry tickets for $5.00 less.

We booked a balcony lake view room and were unable to use the balcony at all because of so many midges. The hotel should have advised us of this problem when we checked in and given us the option to switch rooms or offered a discount. The front desk lady was very rude to me about it. The offered breakfast was on the third floor which is out of reach to people with disabilities unless you go across the property to find an elevator. The door to our room had a gap in it looked like it had been kicked in. Bugs were all over in the room because of it and we had to sleep with something over our nose and mouth to prevent them from flying in.

Great hotel. Updated clean rooms. Staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast is not your average continental breakfast. Beautiful lake view. We have tried staying at a few other hotels but always come back to the Dockside.

Nice clean rooms. Breakfast room very nice but food is just ok. (But don't bother going across the street to Toast A Go Go unless you want to part with your wallet) Didn't get a chance to enjoy the beach as it was cold and to many water gnats. Pool looked nice but didn't use. They have a nice common lounge area but unfortunately they use as a storage area so not so nice after all. Parking is slightly limited but seemed to work.

After coming from a very uncomfortable overpriced hotel on the island, we felt our luck was down. However, we were so PLEASANTLY SURPRISED!! As a family of 5 we reserved a suite with 3 queen beds. We walked into a 2 room, updated, new carpet, very nicely decorated, comfortable room. Our view of the lake was an added bonus. The hotel is walkable to everything and offers complimentary breakfast. Most affordable hotel of our trip, but nicest room we stayed in. This is a great hotel in the Mackinaw City area. Thank you Best Western!

We're yearly visitors to Mackinaw City, having a cabin in the area. Due to some communication issues, we arrived in Mackinaw City late Saturday afternoon but couldn't get the water turned on to our cabin until Monday, so we went in search of a place to stay for a couple of nights. The BW was able to get us into a very nice lakeview room. The bed was very comfortable. We had a refrigerator and a private balcony. We got a ringside seat for the weekly fireworks show. It's very conveniently located too. Great customer service.

We were happy about spending extra per night to have a room with a view of Lake Huron and the Islands. The hotel staff was very nice and accommodating. They provided discount tickets for the Shepler Ferries to Mackinac Island, too. The rooms were appropriately priced and clean. It was quiet at night which we appreciated.

We were blown away by the size of our room which had EXCELLENT WiFi, two TVs (one was in a sitting room which could be closed off with pocket doors but had a separate access to the bathroom). The room was very nicely decorated & quiet. It is a five minute walk to the Star Line Ferry Dock or you can take the shuttle. We would recommend.

We stayed here for one night prior to Mackinac Island and found the hotel to be a pleasure to stay in. Staff very nice and helpful; Room was exceptional: pool was fun and area in general very clean. A nice place to stay for one week or one night.

Caring staff, we stayed in room 303 with 2 queen beds nice size room with small balcony and view of Lake Huron . Plenty to choose from at breakfast with hard working staff. Huge parking area . Walking distance to many restaurants and pubs, plus walking distance to both ferry service

We are long standing reward program members for Best Western and always stay at them if one is available. This hotel has a wonderful location right on the beach in Mackinaw City. The room was clean and is what we expect and are used to. The breakfast is in a third floor large room with a wonderful view. The breakfast was standard hotel hot and cold buffet breakfast. Nothing special but OK. The prices for the rooms were in line with the time of year. The staff at this hotel were the most uninvolved and uninterested of any place I have ever stayed. They acted bored and like they really didn't want to be bothered to be there at all. I inquired about a couple of the perks that reward members get and the clerk was not just uniformed but argued with me and said I was wrong. Finally they called some senior clerk there and the clerk informed them I was right. I have never stayed at a Best Western where the attitude of the clerks at the front desk was this bad. IT is really a shame, because otherwise this is a great place to stay. I would not ever stay here again.

Very nice hotel right on the water! Rooms were clean and comfortable! The staff was so nice and welcoming! Plenty of restaurants within walking distance! We loved the Hook waterfront grill next door! Great staff and food!! I highly recommend the Best Western Plus Dockside Waterfront Inn!

It was early in the season even though it was memorial weekend the rooms were clean along with all parts of the motel. Getting to the breakfast bar was a bit inconvenient and although the hot foods were good there weren't any dry cereals. The staff was very friendly.

We checked in and had to give a cc for incidentals as we had pre paid through a 3rd party. It seemed all was well until I checked my cc and saw a charge from the hotel. It seemed there was an issue with the payment from the 3rd party vendor and they never let us know. Had I not checked my cc, I would have been charged by this hotel again. I was able to get it resolved but found the room to be a bit lacking as it did not have a microwave and the breakfast room was 2 floors up, making it not very inconvenient.

Overall stay was great, however my husband and I had issues with housekeeping. On our first day we called the front desk and asked for no service. While we were out enjoying the day they came into our room and serviced it anyway. We had personal items out, electronics and medicine. Thankfully nothing was touched, but the idea of them being in the room was not pleasant. The third day we were there, we put our "do not desturb" sign on the door. Sure enough they tried coming into our room anyway. I reported it to management and they did take care of it. The hotel is a nice one other than that.

The jacuzzi for two in front of the TV was such a treat! Relaxing, romantic, one of a kind. we've never experienced it before. We enjoyed the breakfast and the doors out onto the beach were a surprise. Next time we go back it will be warm enough to do a little outdoor swimming. We also enjoyed the big hot tub by the pool.

This hotel was very clean, nice rooms, on the beach, nice pool/hot tub/fire pit, one of the best breakfast (eggs, sausage, biscuits gravy, fresh made oatmeal, cereals, toast, bagels, yogurt with fresh cut fruit, granola, donuts, waffles, hard boiled eggs and drinks. Very close to town. We will stay here again!

This was a great way to spend time with the family and then take the ferry to Mackinac Island. BW was easy to get to by highway 75 and super easy to get to the dock by shuttle. There is a little shopping area that you can get to by a leisurely walk or park your car close by. The hotel is very clean and the breakfast buffet is located on the third floor and has plenty of seating. We enjoyed it all, hope you do, too!

We chose this hotel because of the reviews and that it had private balconies overlooking Lake Huron. The view did not fail to please! You could see the pier and the ferry boats going by in the distance. The loons and seagulls were fun to watch, especially the gulls as they would catch the bread pieces mid-air as we threw them off the balcony. About the room: We stayed in Room 305 and while it was nothing spectacular, it was clean and comfortable. We only stayed 3 nights and on the first night, the heating unit had issues. It warmed fine, but it would pop loudly off and on during the night but that may have been due to under-use and the cold temperatures that we experienced on this trip. It ran quietly the rest of the stay. One thing that I wish the room had provided was a microwave. It had a good-size mini fridge, though. The staff at this hotel were friendly and knowledgeable. We liked that it provided a shuttle to Shepler's Ferry but had it been a prettier day weather-wise, we could've walked there. The breakfast was adequate enough. The only drawback was in order to get to the breakfast room, you had to go outside to walk to it, but not a deal breaker even in the rain/cold. Overall, we were pleased. It is a beautiful area and a must-see is the Mackinaw Bridge and Macinac Island!!

The location is the best thing I will give a shout out for. Staffs were quite friendly and had the opportunity to chat a bit with some of them such as Lotoya. They were all very nice and interaction to the hotel staff was quite pleasant. We could buy the tickets for ferry (Shepler's Ferry is the one we opted for but they sell tickets for both) and the carriage ride for our single day exploration to the Mackinac Island from the front desk. It was convenient as we did not have to stand in line at the ferry counter to book ticket or so. The time we traveled was off peak, yet it is mention-worthy as in peak time this could save quite some time for the travelers to the island. Room (#229) was clean and adequate and met our expectation. We enjoyed our stay here and if we are back in the area we would more than likely stay here. Decent breakfast. I saw pool staff cleaning the pool in the morning. Indoor pool also looked fine, though we did not have time to use it. To summarize, the location was great and close to everything as well as staff were quite friendly, which are the major positives as I would say.

I stayed in a room with a Jacuzzi tub. It was an amazing experience and a great location. A cable on the tv was broken but they sent somebody right over to fix it and the problem was solved. They also offer discounted tickets for the ferry to the island.

Beautiful lake view, we watched the birds catch fish from the window and balcony. A very quiet hotel, with an excellent breakfast. I was blown away by staff member, Dave, who ensured my stay was all that it could be. Thank you, Dave!

Motel was clean, no cover up scent. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. No bus parking on site. Parking about 1/4 mile away. General manager gave transportation to and from bus when needed. Really nice guy. Area around motel fairly well kept, had just opened for season. Breakfast area large well stocked and clean. Only major draw back no fire sprinkler system.

Hotel was clean, staff was courteous, and for those going to Mackinac Island, this is very close to the Star Line ferry dock. Great rates and just overall amazing experience. My wife and I go up to Mackinaw frequently and plan to use this hotel for future stays.

The front desk staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. Rashana was very helpful and courteous. The room was very clean, and not as dated as I expected after reading some of the reviews here. The balcony was pretty small, but it was still too cold to spend much time out there anyway. We had the end room, by the pier, and not the greatest view, but it was still good. The small balcony allowed more room inside the room, which was good. We did not feel cramped at all in a king size room with sofa. We have always stayed at the Comfort Inn, but it was getting pretty shabby, so we decided to try a different hotel in the same area. I'm glad we did. Still an easy walk to the ferry docks and town. We parked the car when we arrived and didn't have to use it at all during our stay. I thought the price was right for the location and time of year. I imagine rates will go way up during the summer season, given the attraction of the Island. Breakfast was good! The normal hotel full breakfast buffet, serving enough time to suit everybody's agendas.

Got moved to a different room, the second room that was given to us, stay the night, showers did not work. Put a lot of muscle into the handle, no shower, out of time, not paying for another day stay, ran behind, late for boat to Mackinaw Island, total disrespect from the manager, (Dave) stating that the shower has malfunction, but still works, WHAT ? I'm a mechanic/technician for the last 30 plus years, and my 79 year old father could NOT even get the shower going.. I checked on the places to eat before I got to the hotel, the staff told us that the Keyhole restaurant was closed, and told us that we should go to a different restaurant.. We went to Keyhole anyways, the best dinner ever... The ONLY good thing about this hotel was the breakfast !! I heard from another customer say that her room was so cold, the door seals were bad, and that the heater was noisy and running all night and couldn't sleep... I'm a Diamond Best Western customer, with well over 30 stays, this hotel is not for us...

We stayed at Best Western Plus Dockside in Mackinaw City on 4/28. We got into town late after a ~12 hour car ride and were greeted by Petrona Rashana at the front desk. She had such a wonderful, warm personality and it was very refreshing to arrive to someone who was so friendly and welcoming. Even as other guests stepped into the lobby behind us, she made sure to take a moment to acknowledge and greet them while finishing up with checking us in. She had great recommendations on local places to eat nearby. After getting checked in and settled into our room we all agreed on just how nice it was to get in after a long day of driving and receive such wonderful hospitality at the front desk - very professional and very rare to see these days! Our hotel rooms were very nice and looked recently remodeled. They were good sized rooms and very clean. The pool was very warm (even in April!) and open until midnight, which was an added bonus traveling with kids who had a lot of energy to burn off. I highly recommend this hotel and look forward to coming back for a longer visit in the future!

Booked a king jacuzzi suite with a lake view. As we were pulling in the parking lot, the front desk called and told us they didn't have any lake view rooms ready as they were remodeling, but they could move us to a king jacuzzi courtyard view for a rate of $109. No big deal right?? Patrona and Sharika (I'm sure I butchered the spelling of both) at the front desk where wonderful. We got to our room and the TV doesn't work. Housekeeping brings me a brand new remote that I have to program. Come to find out, the room doesn't even have a receiver box. So....we move to another room. A very nice man, Dave the manager, offers to discount us an additional $30 which makes our room total of $79. My wife fills the jacuzzi and turns on the jets and an ungodly amount of black gunk comes out. Not a deal breaker......drain it, rinse it out and refill. Finally get settled in, relaxing in the jacuzzi, and............maintenance guy barges in our room!! The door was locked! No knock, no nothing!!! Not sure who was shocked the most!! Go to the front desk and kindly ask for the room to be comped. The General Manager declined and tells me she will discount the room to $79. That's what I'm already supposed to be paying!!!! The GM offers to move us (once again) to another hotel that she also oversees (which had worse reviews that this one). She then tells me it's my fault because I didn't have the inside latch locked! Yeah, it's my fault that a guy walks right in our room without knocking!! Wow! Nice customer service. The GM then threatens to call the police after I tell her I'm going to leave an honest review on every travel site I can find! So, we get to sleep and are awakened the next morning with a knock at the door. I yell, “coming” and before I can get to the door, THE SAME GUY UNLOCKS OUR DOOR AND TRIES TO ENTER........again!!!! Luckily this time I had the interior latch locked. So we go check out.....and they charged me $89!! $10 more than what I was told. Dave tried to talk us into returning at a “discounted” rate. Thanks Dave, but we won't be back. Anyway, after three room changes, a maintenance guy seeing my wife naked, and a poor discussion with the GM, here's my honest review! I'd stay away! The room was clean, but the GM needs to learn how to deal professionally with paying clientele!!

Very nice hotel with a great view of the lake. Our room was clean, bed was comfortable and the staff were very nice. We were very close to the new brewery and the new casino. It would have been even better if they had their own bar/restaurant on site especially in the winter.

Stayed here in late October a week before they closed for the winter. The good news is the rate was good. This property is also among the cleanest places I have ever stayed. I do not know if this holds true in busy season but I could find no problem in the room. We did not use the pool or hot tub, but we looked closely and they also appeared exceptionally clean. The room has older style furniture, but while it was a bit crowded there was a lot of to store items off the floor and overall it was a very functional space. The wireless worked well. The staff was friendly and helpful. The free breakfast was perfectly adequate with a good selection and hot options. Looked around but could not find the workout room. There did appear to be a business facility and conference rooms. This is an older facility with outside entrances which can create noise problems if other guests are inconsiderate when entering or leaving their adjoining rooms. We did not encounter that problem. I also imagine the parking could become tight in the busy season.

We booked a room with 3 queen beds, it was a great set up and we had plenty of room. It cost half of what a much smaller room would have cost on the island. My only complaint would be the breakfast room, you had to go outside and it was a little slippery pushing a wheelchair down the ramp to the breakfast room.

Our hotel room no. 305 was perfect. It was a regular size room with a small balcony looking out onto the lake. We had two queen beds. The bathroom was small and basic. The bathroom was small, but clean. The beds and pillows were ok. The best part of the room, and the reason I selected the hotel, was because it was located right on the lake and had fabulous views of the massive lake. The lake appeared so calm from our room. It was like glass. The view was spectacular. Our toddler son loved playing on the soft sandy beach right outside. I believe it was the only lake front hotel located in the Downtown Shopping District and was directly adjacent to the Mackinac Island Ferry. We selected the room with 2 queen beds that had a lake view. The hotel confirmed 2 Pack n Plays would be provided. Breakfast was included.

Rooms are clean and the beds are comfy. Conviently located to everything! I'm not sure how many times I have stayed here, but have also tried a few others. I will contiune to keep coming back to BW. It offers all I need in a hotel for a nights stay.

We have stayed here for the last 4 years. The staff is always friendly, and the room is always clean. They have great off season rates, and have coupons for local businesses. The breakfast is always good, and they even switched coffee this year in order to improve it. We will continue to stay here.

This took a while for me to put together I have been a Diamond Select member with BW brand for many years . I have seen Best Western Hotels QA slipping over the last 2 years This was a 4 day end of the year stay for me to go to Mackinac Island to visit The Grand Hotel During there Somewhere in Time Reunion. I would HIGHLY recommend Mackinac Island and The Grand Hotel PRO: Great rate Balcony room double queen on the lake Decent parking Ok pool and hot tub Breakfast : standard free nothing special CONS Room not clean up check in Hair found in bed NO HOT WATER FOR 2 DAYS very drafty rooms Poor heating New looking beds but cheap staff was polite but fair from friendly So I called to talk the front desk at least 3 times . The reason I received was the hotel is empty and the hot water has to travel a long way . That's understandable I guess Finally when I got back , I had just had it . I called down and talked to “ Dave “ who was very helpful . He told me the hotel was full so the heaters will be working better, and they did He did give me some money off my rate so that's how they got their 3 star . I did read they are updating their rooms this coming year so it may be working giving them another try . I did drive around the city to see what other options are out there and does not seem to be many options in the city . I am guessing I would stay here again My ADVICE: BOOK DIRECT AND GET THEIR NAME . Safe travels

Great rates. Friendly staff. Nice location with lots of restaurants and shops nearby. Great place to stay before going to Mackinaw Island. Nice view of the lake and it's fun to watch the farries make their way to the island.

pros...Staff was friendly. Room was clean. Nice location. cons....Water only got warm. Room was very breezy. Bat in the stairwell. Need to go outside to get to the pool. Breakfast was alright. Parking was terrible.

Friendly front desk ladies and a quick check-in. We were with another couple and they put us in a two bedroom suite which was unexpected and very convenient. Nice breakfast. Would stay again. Only four stars because interior (bathroom) doors are in need of cleaning and some painting.
