"Very CLEAN"

04/11/2018

Stayed here in late October a week before they closed for the winter. The good news is the rate was good. This property is also among the cleanest places I have ever stayed. I do not know if this holds true in busy season but I could find no problem in the room. We did not use the pool or hot tub, but we looked closely and they also appeared exceptionally clean. The room has older style furniture, but while it was a bit crowded there was a lot of to store items off the floor and overall it was a very functional space. The wireless worked well. The staff was friendly and helpful. The free breakfast was perfectly adequate with a good selection and hot options. Looked around but could not find the workout room. There did appear to be a business facility and conference rooms. This is an older facility with outside entrances which can create noise problems if other guests are inconsiderate when entering or leaving their adjoining rooms. We did not encounter that problem. I also imagine the parking could become tight in the busy season.

We booked a room with 3 queen beds, it was a great set up and we had plenty of room. It cost half of what a much smaller room would have cost on the island. My only complaint would be the breakfast room, you had to go outside and it was a little slippery pushing a wheelchair down the ramp to the breakfast room.

"Amazing Views and Soft Sandy Beach"

30/10/2018

Our hotel room no. 305 was perfect. It was a regular size room with a small balcony looking out onto the lake. We had two queen beds. The bathroom was small and basic. The bathroom was small, but clean. The beds and pillows were ok. The best part of the room, and the reason I selected the hotel, was because it was located right on the lake and had fabulous views of the massive lake. The lake appeared so calm from our room. It was like glass. The view was spectacular. Our toddler son loved playing on the soft sandy beach right outside. I believe it was the only lake front hotel located in the Downtown Shopping District and was directly adjacent to the Mackinac Island Ferry. We selected the room with 2 queen beds that had a lake view. The hotel confirmed 2 Pack n Plays would be provided. Breakfast was included.

"Always a great stay"

Rooms are clean and the beds are comfy. Conviently located to everything! I'm not sure how many times I have stayed here, but have also tried a few others. I will contiune to keep coming back to BW. It offers all I need in a hotel for a nights stay.

"We keep coming back."

We have stayed here for the last 4 years. The staff is always friendly, and the room is always clean. They have great off season rates, and have coupons for local businesses. The breakfast is always good, and they even switched coffee this year in order to improve it. We will continue to stay here.

This took a while for me to put together I have been a Diamond Select member with BW brand for many years . I have seen Best Western Hotels QA slipping over the last 2 years This was a 4 day end of the year stay for me to go to Mackinac Island to visit The Grand Hotel During there Somewhere in Time Reunion. I would HIGHLY recommend Mackinac Island and The Grand Hotel PRO: Great rate Balcony room double queen on the lake Decent parking Ok pool and hot tub Breakfast : standard free nothing special CONS Room not clean up check in Hair found in bed NO HOT WATER FOR 2 DAYS very drafty rooms Poor heating New looking beds but cheap staff was polite but fair from friendly So I called to talk the front desk at least 3 times . The reason I received was the hotel is empty and the hot water has to travel a long way . That's understandable I guess Finally when I got back , I had just had it . I called down and talked to “ Dave “ who was very helpful . He told me the hotel was full so the heaters will be working better, and they did He did give me some money off my rate so that's how they got their 3 star . I did read they are updating their rooms this coming year so it may be working giving them another try . I did drive around the city to see what other options are out there and does not seem to be many options in the city . I am guessing I would stay here again My ADVICE: BOOK DIRECT AND GET THEIR NAME . Safe travels

Friendly front desk ladies and a quick check-in. We were with another couple and they put us in a two bedroom suite which was unexpected and very convenient. Nice breakfast. Would stay again. Only four stars because interior (bathroom) doors are in need of cleaning and some painting.

I have stayed in probably twenty different Best Westerns and this is in the bottom 20%. Rooms are very dated, mattresses need to be updated, heaters updated, and draft around the doors fixed. View and TV's are best part. Room should be decorated to go with furniture. Rooms are large and bathroom is not. Just not so happy about cost vs. quality!

"Good location and friendly staff"

17/10/2018

This is a motel with 3 floors. Some of the rooms have balconies which face the beach area overlooking Lake Huron. We had a king room with Jacuzzi. The room had a slight odor when we first arrived but nothing to complain about. The furniture seemed a bit outdated but the room appeared clean. We thought the a/c was running and making a very load noise when we arrived but it was a dehumidifier which was under the vanity by the bathroom door. We didn't notice any dampness in the room. We questioned the front desk and they said that the rooms with Jacuzzi all have them. If it was too noisy, they told us we could turn it off. We did turn it off while we were in the room and then turned it back on while we were out. The bed was comfortable and they had plenty of pillows. I did not notice any noise at night. They have a large parking area. They have a very nice sitting area near the lobby with lots of chairs and even a fire place. They have an indoor pool located near the lobby which we did not use. The hotel offers a trolley tour of the Mackinaw Bridge for a small fee which was nice since it was raining while we were there. The trolley takes you past several places in town, over the bridge and makes a stop at the Bridge View Park and then returns. The breakfast was good with several hot items and there is a large seating area. We were there for 2 days and I never noticed that an item was out. The bad thing was that the breakfast area is located above the lobby which places it on the 3rd level and they only have one elevator back in a corner of the building. We took the stairs; however, it was raining and they do not have the front stairs or the walkway from the back stairs covered. It was also windy so when someone opened the door the rain was blowing in onto the floor. The breakfast attendant did finally soak up the water with some towels. Overall it was a nice stay and I liked that you could walk out to the beach area to sit in some of the lounge chairs.

This was the nicest Best Western that we've ever stayed at, and we've stayed at some nice ones. Right on the shores of Lake Michigan with a view of Mackinac Island from the balcony; it was fabulous! We had a suite, which was clean and beautiful. The breakfast room was very large, clean, and with a good selection. I would highly recommend this place.

The room was large and clean. It was ready when we arrived. We had easy checkout after the large free breakfast. We also had discounted ferry tickets to the island and the motel is very close to the ferry dock. The motel had a ferry schedule ready for us.

The Dockside Waterfront Inn in Mackinaw MI is exceptional. The entire staff and the hotel are pleasant and helpful. The Inn has everything I needed I enjoyed the pool and the breakfast was great. The breakfast area had a splendid view of the area, being on the third floor.

From the time we checked in to the time we checked out Best Western Dockside was amazing. I called in advance, and had flowers delivered to the hotel for my anniversary. The staff said it was no problem and they put them in the room for us. Not only that, but we were upgraded to a lakeside room at no extra cost. AMAZING views and a surprise to my wife and I. The breakfast buffet was great. Hot food, wide selection. Very clean rooms, very comfortable. All around, a tremendous place to stay. We will definitely stay here again.

"Not disability friendly"

3
09/10/2018

Upon check-in, the person at the desk was irritated because I wouldn't sign a receipt allowing them to add to the credit card charge. The next morning I asked where the breakfast was and was told it was up the steps from the parking lot aka. two floors, my family and I chose to go to the restaurant across the street due to one member being unable to climb stairs. I went to the office to checkout then, on my way home received notice that I could have "express checkout", I sure would have had I known it was an option! The room and view were great, the layout of the building is not friendly for anyone with disabilities. Breakfast is on the third floor with one elevator in the far corner of the parking lot.

09/10/2018

While the room was nice enough, the layout of the hotel was not to our liking. Did not use the pool area because of having to walk outside in the cold and rain to get back to our room. Breakfast was decent. View was nice but could not see the island or the bridge.

"Decent Place to Hole Up While Visiting Mackinac Island"

3
07/10/2018

I hate to use the word "dated", but the rooms in this place could use a slight makeover.....brighter colors and more contemporary furnishings. That being said, the room was clean and comfortable. Bed comfort is a personal thing....I rate this one just so-so. First level rooms on the lake/harbor side have patio doors with beach access. Don't feed the sea gulls....you'll start a war as one lady walking the beach found out. The wi-fi was a little sketchy but workable. The staff was efficient and friendly enough, many from Jamaica or thereabouts so you have to get used to accents. If you're a military veteran, you'll love the free Army-style field breakfast of dried eggs, lukewarm sausage, and too-thin gravy. We skipped the free breakfast the second morning in favor of going out to a good local restaurant. If you shop around, you can get discounted rooms for this property.

"Relaxing get away"

01/10/2018

Great location. Near all attractions and convenient. Our room was beach side and had a jacuzzi tub. Room was clean and well appointed. My only complaint is that the set up of the hotel is a little janky. It was clearly once a motel and the breakfast room.. you had to go up an elevator and walk past other rooms, outside and it was a bit chilly in the mornings. Not a deal breaker though. The hotel staff was courteous and accommodating. Breakfast was ok. Lots of selections like eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, waffles, etc. I would definitely stay again given the location.

This property is overlooking the water. It has very nice rooms with balconies that overlook the lake. The breakfast's are very nice with a lot of choices. In fact for such a large facility they do a great job on breakfast. The staff is very friendly and personable. All-in-all a great place to stay. It's easy walking to the main drag or the docks.

"Customer service is not a high goal for most of the staff we encountered"

3
30/09/2018

We felt there was a very huge lack of those who enjoyed being in a customer service position. They were cold, unfriendly, didn't greet us until we greeted them. The only genuine customer service individual we met was Rachel - the night we checked in.

"Nice place to stay on the lake"

5
30/09/2018

Everything in the room was pleasant and functional. There were lots of pillows and towels. I loved the ceiling fan that kept the air moving even when the heat/air were not on. The breakfast was plentiful and varied so it did not get boring. The most wonderful thing was the housekeeping staff. Not only did they do a great job but they were exceptionally friendly. Housekeeping can make or break a hotel. This time they made the stay great.

Wonderful experience. Very professional team. Although our A/C unit fail on our first night stay, it was removed and replaced with a brand new unit within an hour & a half. It would have taken les time but the second maintenance guy had an emergency at home and called to say he'd be half hou late for work. I would recommend this place to anyone.

26/09/2018

First time visitors to Mackinac City and so happy we selected the Best Western for our hotel. Our room was very clean and nicely furnished. I can't say enough good things about the front desk staff. They are very gracious, friendly, and helpful. As first time visitors we had lots of questions and they were happy to take the time to help us out. My wife and I met my brother and his wife there. We were traveling from different locations and had separate reservations. Upon arriving were pleasantly surprised that we were in adjoining suites. With the same last name the staff figured it was not a coincidence and assigned us the adjoining suites. The staff takes pride in their work. The breakfast bar was also a nice feature. A nice selection of breakfast items to please everyone's tastes. We look forward to future trips to Mackinac City and will stay at the Best Western.

"Needs updating"

3
26/09/2018

Have stayed here many times over the years. Disappointed this time. Needs some serious updating. Breakfast okay..workers could not speak English and did not keep up with demand (very busy) breakfast room. Room was dingy and bed was not the most comfortable. Great location. Had a waterfront room, nice view. Outdated everything.NO handicap parking available ,most of the handicap spots were not handicap vechicles! They should check on this we had a long walk to drag our luggage and the handicaps near our room were all filled with cars that did not have a hang tag or handicap plate!

"Overall Pretty Good !"

24/09/2018

"Good stay"

4
20/09/2018

Room was acceptably clean, beds were comfortable, and staff were pleasant and efficient at check in and check out. The balcony and the beach were all clean and afforded beautiful views of Lake Huron. I did not eat breakfast there or use the hot tub or pool so cannot comment on those amenities other than they looked clean and inviting. Short walk to the ferries to Mackinac Island and abundant shops and restaurants.

"Pass on this place"

1
17/09/2018

Had to be moved to a new room because there was an intense odor, hair (yes hair) in both beds, sheets had an odor as well as the towels smelling like burnt sugar. Also the AC didn't work. New room wasn't much better. Staff hung up on us twice (guess they were upset because we don't care for hair in our beds). New room wasn't much better and didn't even unpack because it was so unclean. We were told we could move to different room off the water, but we would have to pay the same as being on the water. Rude staff. Really disappointed and would never recommend this. Not what we were expecting for the money we had to pay. Could have stayed at a "motel" and had the same ammemities for half the money.

"Two night Stay"

4
17/09/2018

Overall this was a positive experience. The room was clean and quiet. Check-in and check-out were quick and easy. Bed was comfortable. Plenty of hot water for shower. Breakfast buffet was great. The only thing that kept it from being perfect was the elevator. It is located were the two buildings that make up the property meet. The issue is that the two wings seem to be off by half a flight. That means to get to the elevator you either go up or come down a ramp. Walking it is easy but if you have a full luggage cart it is a bit problematic. Bottom line- would I stay there again? Yes!!

"Acceptable Tourist Motel"

3
14/09/2018

I stayed at this motel a few days in September with my family. The good: -Front office staff was friendly -They have a clean pool and hot tub -The beach is nice -Rooms are adequate The bad: -The free breakfast is awful. You get what you pay for in this case. Eggs are terrible, sausage is cold. OJ tastes like battery acid. Fruit choices are laughable. -Rooms were cleaned, but look tired and worn. Almost had a film on them. -It's marketed as a hotel but it's actually a motel. You have direct access to your room from outside. -Beds aren't very comfortable -Pool is extremely cold Overall, this is a tourist motel that is acceptable lodging. No more. No less. Most of the hotels in Mackinaw City are like this. Many are owned by the same company. I wouldn't stay here again. But I also wouldn't stay in Mackinaw City again. If you want decent family friendly lodging for tourists in Mackinaw City, I guess you could do worse. Just have breakfast somewhere else. Anywhere else.

"Clean and friendly with a hot breakfast"

4
11/09/2018

The hotel is "l" shaped with one wing facing the beach and lake and the other facing the parking lot. It is next to the dock and within walking distance of the shuttle to Mackinac island, restaurants and shopping. Breakfast is served in a room over the carport - the space is large and clean with huge windows to view the lake. A refrigerator, hairdryer and coffee maker were all available in the room. An indoor pool was onsite as well as a large gathering room. The beds were comfortable, shower heads well placed for tall people and the room tv was an enormous flat screen. The staff was friendly, answering questions about the ferry. Discount ferry tickets were available .

"Beautiful hotel, extra efforts by Manager Dave for my son and daughter-in-law's Anniversary"

5
09/09/2018

My son and daughter-in-law were celebrating their one year wedding anniversary in the Mackinaw area. After I had a terrible experience very recently at another local hotel, I was somewhat reluctant for them, so I contacted the Manager, Dave, directly to inquire about recent reviews and hear real story. After our talk, Dave offered to work with his staff to add a few touches. The kids told me the following: they were greeted with a very clean room as well as beautiful towels arranged in heart and swan shapes! They enjoyed the hotel amenities and their night at the Best Western Mackinaw. I appreciate Dave and his staff's extra efforts. Thank you!

06/09/2018

This very large room had two huge beds, furnishings were very nice, beds were wonderful. Very clean, mostly quiet. But we could hear people clearly talking next door. We had a lakeside room that had a small balcony with a wonderful view. Great location to shops and restaurants. Wifi did not work well at all. When i mentioned it to staff they just said 'sorry about that'. Average breakfast. I would recommend this hotel.

"Great location, Great view"

4
26/08/2018

I was here for one night and splurged on a room with the lakeside view. It was worth it. The room was large enough for 2 people but may be crowded for 4 (esp. adults). One sink and a separate toilet and shower make up the bathroom. We didn't stay for the break fast, and the in-room coffee was pretty weak. The view from the room is beautiful and even with the beach below, noise did not carry up into the room.

"STAY AT YOUR OWN RISK!!"

All was well until we saw a bug crawling across my daughters bed, and when I touched it, it exploded with blood! I then Googled what bedbugs looked like, and my heart sank as it looks just like the picture. We also noted small blood stains on our bed near our pillows. Upon doing more research on bed bugs that's a sign that the bed bugs were feeding on us in the night. We contacted the manager and he came to the room and try telling us it was from the bugs we tracked in from the beach. I contacted the Cheboygan Health Department, and explained what we have found and they confirmed our fears that it was most likely bed bugs! Our sheets also had ink like stains around the corners of the fitted sheets another sign of bed bugs. When looking at the corner of the box springs there was yellowish shavings that apparently occur when bed bugs shed. We found more bugs and we put them in a cup for the manager to come look at, but he refused he told me that he contacted an exterminator and would be taking care of it . He initially said there wasn't bed bugs but he contacted an exterminator?! He also told me they never had bed bugs in the 20 years that he's been the manager. The Cheboygan Health Department informed me that the Best Western purchased their own equipment to treat rooms for bed bugs! How curious is that! Obviously not a new problem! The health department contacted me August 22nd 2018 to let me know that room 109 was treated for bed bugs and the two adjacent rooms. Things happen, and I feel the manager should have admitted to the problem, apologized, and then helped us on what to do to prevent bringing them home with us! Thank God for the staff of the health department for all their help! This was an awful experience and I want to post this to inform the public. The manager offered to discount the room, but I told him I wasn't paying for a bed bug invested room! He promptly told me I had to. Cheboygan Health Department phone number 231-627-8850.

"One of the better hotels in Mackinaw City"

4
24/08/2018

Our family of 5 stayed here on a Friday night in August. The building is old, but they've done a good job of keeping the furniture new. Our beds were beautiful and comfortable. Our son slept on the pull out sofa and he said it was fine. The balcony overlooking the lake was nice (very small) but we especially enjoyed the fireworks display over the water after dark. The breakfast included was plentiful - the usual hotel options. Eggs were kind of runny, but you could pick from cereal, waffles, yogurt, sausages, pastries, etc. We would definitely return here is we come back to Mackinaw City. The problem with this town is that it does not have any newer, more upscale options so this hotel is one of the better choices.

Staff was uncaring about us feeling the bill was incorrect. The room cost $75 more than the same size room in the hotel down the street where we moved to. Parking lot is too small & difficult to move thru. But breakfast was great and the room was clean.

We had another enjoyable stay at Best Western Dockside. It is easy accessible to the ferries, shopping, and restaurants. We have stayed there many times over the years and always have a good experience. The front desk staff was helpful and friendly. The pool was clean. We were able to buy discounted ferry tickets from the front desk. We will stay here again!

1st we had to stitch rooms because there was horrible smell coming from the room. The second room was a better smell at 1st, but after getting my two year old and 1 year old settled in the room I? found bugs everywhere. Even in the plastic cup that were wrapped by the ice buckets! And even found bugs that were smashed on the celling! Then the light by the beds didn't work at all. Then I? found old hair ties, Bobby pins, and a old dirty sock! The was mold in the bathroom as well. I?t was late and my girls needed to eat and sleep so we stayed one night. But I? went down to the front desk and told them about everything and told them we not stay the second night! And they didn't charge me for that (so far I? will be checking my credit card statement though). They didn't seamed surprised or even apologize to us. I? will be contacting the head quarters of best Western and I? took pictures for proof!

"Excellent Staff & Service "

17/08/2018

My family and I had a two night stay at the Best Western Dockside Plus. We were welcomed into the facility by Nyeth at the front desk. She explained everything we needed to know about the Inn, including breakfast time and were to go for dinner. The Inn was very clean and when you phone the front desk the staff responds immediately to your needs. The pool area had towels for the guests and was free from scumb or mold. The breakfast had a nice variety and quite tasty, but the scrambled eggs looked as if they were made from a powdered egg mix. This is the only area that needed improvement. Needless to say, we really enjoyed our stay. Thanks, Nyeth!

Stayed on the second floor...Room 220... and it was a decent room. I was happy to see a nice size fridge and working properly. Unfortunately, no microwave. Nonetheless, if I had a choice, I rather have a fridge. I loved the beach access and the property also has a pool and hot tub! Also, I read a previous review that their room had a damp smell. Luckily, our room did not smell damp when we entered. The AC (older) would blow a slight odor but it didn't bother me. Overall, we enjoyed the room and location of the hotel. It was nice to take the ferry to Mackinaw Island and leave our car parked at this hotel. Also, you save almost $10 on each ferry ticket bought at the hotel!!! Staff also friendly. You can do your own laundry on premises. Free breakfast buffet- decent.

"Great View of the Beach"

2
12/08/2018

Location was wonderful easy to walk to everything. Great discount on Ferry Tickets. Nice walk out to the beach. Breakfast not laid out very well. Oatmeal was runny. Sausages were grey and fatty. Eggs (fake) still had the shape of the bowl they were cooked in. I don't expect gourmet for free but this was not great. The biggest complaint was that the room smelled so bad. I should have complained on the first day but didn't so my own fault. The room was so damp the sheets felt like they were wet which probably contributes to the smell. Talked to the manager who ended up giving us points for our complaint. But the smell would wake me up in the night it was so bad and I am not that sensitive to smells. I would not recommend any of the ground level rooms if they are all this damp. For the price it was not a good value. We paid large for an below average room.

"I felt like I was home on the Jersey Shore!"

06/08/2018

Overall, I was happy with the Best Western property. I even shared this when Best Western asked my opinion. Simple things to know, the daily breakfast is very good with many choices, but no rotation, as it is the same everyday. Go out one morning for breakfast. Second, we had two adults and five kids. Two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a sitting room. That rocked, yet the overall clean rooms were a little dated. The indoor pool was great for us, along with the hot tub. We also were on the beach several times a day. So, my rating of a four is what was mentioned and a few nit picky things, but overall, I would recommend this hotel.

"We got the last room"

4
31/07/2018

We were in a bind on a last minute trip. There was only one room left which we booked around 5pm but we were still in Muninsing. When we did not arrive by midnight the attendant that booked our room called to make sure we were still coming. That was a great gesture and comforting to know they cared. We arrived at 12:18 and checked in. Being that we took the last room, the parking lot was full. We had to park in the other side. We arrived to our room. Given that it's not rated as a 5 star hotel, we didn't have high expectations of the room. The hotel is old, the age clearly shows but the room was decent, the beds we're comfortable, the shower had a good flow. Breakfast wasn't good at all. All in all, in the same bind, I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. The staff is very warm and polite just the hotel could use some updates. The room was surprisingly quiet there were kids out having a bon fire when we arrived and we couldn't hear them.

29/07/2018

"I chose this property for my family, (husband, sister and her husband, and our mom) for the 4th of July because of the suite that sleeps 6 AND was LAKESIDE. It's not in the middle of the chaos but we had a beautiful view of the fireworks from our beach side room deck. Room was clean and everything in working condition. When you walk in, there's a sofabed, and a nice size bed. Then there was a small kitchenette area on the right and bathroom on the left, which separated the next area with another big bed. Off the back room is the deck over looking the beach. The breakfast was a hot buffet breakfast. Oh, and Star Line Cruise is within walking distance. My family wants to come here again next year, but bring more family, (for more rooms)."

"Best western should be "good" western"

25/07/2018

Check in was easy...room details: the bathroom is very small and not very clean. The beds actually made us laugh...one mattress was a normal mattress the other mattress was a 6 inch maybe memory foam mattress and very uncomfortable. The TV had no sound on several channels so we called the front desk and they sent maintenance down. He unplugged the t v and said give it several hours. Nope several hours later no sound. The breakfast, cluster of people around the area of the food... maybe spread the buffet out instead of jamming it in one area. Parking: gets tight at night and actually ran out of parking spaces that the front office had us park in the handicap space..The best part of the stay was the view from our patio looking the lake....all in all for the price I would not recommend staying here if all the rooms were like this.

"BUGS Everywhere!!!"

1
21/07/2018

WORST HOTEL EVER! I know there are bugs but I should not arrive to my room with the ceiling covered with bugs and along the baseboards. The manager called me and told me that if I open the deck door that's what happens, but all we did was Walk into the room. It was like the maid cleaned the room with the door open and let every bug in. If I wanted to be with bugs I would have camped!! Mosiquiotos, spiders with webs, LARGE brown bugs, just not what you would expect for $220 a night. They did switch rooms for us and there were less bugs. This just isn't a clean place. We checked out the next morning, not happy at all. Manager said he comes and vacuums them and can't control them by the water. If that's the case why didn't the maid do that when she cleaned the room! The bugs had been there for a while!!!! So gross! I guess I'm lucky they didn't charge me for my second night that we didn't stay after reading other reviews. Stay far away from this place. If you have a problem and want to check out the next day because of that, they should understand. Please see attached pics! This is only a snapshot of the bugs!!!!!

This hotel is located right on the water with some rooms having a water view. It is located next to the pier which makes a nice walk. The room was spacious, clean and well supplied. The one thing I would say is that you have to walk outside and climb many steps to get to their fine breakfast. They had several workers, keeping it well supplied. It is a large dining room. "Pretty average "

3
23/06/2018

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights in June. Our stay was pretty average. The room was nice and the beds were incredibly comfortable. The first room we were in was on the ground floor and had a dehumidifier placed under the sink. Even with that the room was so moist everything felt wet. The carpet felt wet to the touch as did the beds and the room smelled very strongly of mildew. After our first night we requested to move rooms and were moved to the second floor. Our second room was much better. Our balcony was free of spiders and pests which is a a big deal to me. The beach access was very nice. The breakfast was very crowded and didn't offer much variety, it was an average continental breakfast. The location was great, walking distance to town and they offer discounted ferry tickets.

We had a beach front room on the first floor and could walk directly onto the beach. The room was dated and the carpet was dingy (probably from the beach sand) other than that the room was very clean and had a large flat screen TV. Beds were comfortable. The hotel was close to everything and we could walk. Breakfast was good with hot and cold options. I would stay again but maybe on a different floor.

"Gateway to the U.P. Weekend"

4
18/06/2018

We planned our trip to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan during the recent Memorial Day holiday weekend. To avoid the rush, we chose to spend our first night in Mackinaw City at the best Western Plus Dockside Waterfront Inn. When we arrived, it appeared that many other travelers had made the same decision. We opted for a room with a courtyard view rather than the higher priced waterfront view. The parking lot was packed. The staff was courteous and had those of us waiting to register handled quickly and professionally. Our room was well appointed and clean. We found that a shower curtain was missing in our bathroom. After a call to the desk, a replacement was quickly brought to the room and installed. Our bed was comfortable. They provide a complementary breakfast in the morning. The breakfast room's location was wonderful, but with the number of guests in the hotel, the amount of food and the time it took to refill the supplies made it grossly inadequate. We chose to leave and find another place for breakfast.

09/06/2018

Room faced a busy parking lot and open walkway, so HUGE problem with noise and bugs. Walls are very thin, so we could hear the conversation in the next room until after 11:00 PM after traveling all day. Dated décor and paint peeling from the bathroom ceiling. Breakfast looked unappealing, so we walked to a restaurant. WiFi did not work well. Staff seemed apathetic about their jobs. Overall, very unpleasant.

The room was average but would have been better if we had been able to go out onto the beach or even our patio. Much of the town was closed because it was off season and the Mayflies were horrible-which made you even less likely to walk around. The breakfast was tolerable but not stellar. If you have any issues with steps, do not stay here. There is no elevator and the breakfast is served on the third floor.

21/05/2018

We hoped that our stay in Mackinaw City at the Best Western Dockside would be the highlight of our road trip from MInneapolis to Toronto, instead it was deeply disappointing. The hotel was extremely dated with decor from the 80s, our bathroom was terrible with graying grungy towels and there was no sink in the bathroom so you had to wash your hands, shave or brush your teeth in the main bedroom! Also, the lighting was very poor so you could barely see to shower. The disappointment continued with the breakfast the next day which was inedible. If was so bad that we decided to leave and actually had to pay for the next day regardless. We did not want to spend another day at this hotel :(

We came up to see the blue ice. This was our first trip to Mackinaw City in the winter. We had the best service at the hotel. The hotel staff was polite and always had a smile on their faces. The hotel was clean and the rooms were great. I will be coming back next winter.

"A Very Nice Place to Stay"

12/05/2018

This Best Western was a great place to stay on the beach. The hotel was clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good. We didn't experience any real problems, however, we never did figure out how to reset the clock to the proper time; we merely used our own that we brought with us rather than wait for maintenance to arrive and fix it.

"Great hotel, nice view"

09/05/2018

My wife and I stayed for only one night and we didn't have any issues. I don't stay in hotels enough to give a critical review but the room was clean and everything worked. There was a great view from the balcony though the balcony seemed a tad on the small side. There was just enough room for a couple of chairs and a small table but not enough to really move around.

"Pleasantly surprised"

30/12/2017

The overall experience felt with a very positive and left me with a some sadness when I left, which is unusual for Best Western Hotels. Considering the price, it felt very good, starting from reception, to the room and all the way to all of the facilities. The room was large, comfortable and felt very thought through. WIFI was great, managed to stream a movie and download one at the same time. I was also impressed with the breakfast, a lot more choice and better quality than you expect for this kind of price. Very recommended!

"Great Beach, Friendly Staff"

29/11/2017

Clean, quiet and spacious rooms. The friendly staff went out of their way to make our stay pleasant. The beach is great for swimming and bonfires at night. The hotel is within walking distance of restaurants and ferry docks.

"They have a business center, it was great to use before heading over to the island."

Quiet rooms, with a in room refrigerator for our snacks and left over dinners. They included a wonderful, well-stocked breakfast bar upstairs. The pool and hot tub looked inviting, but we did not bring our suits.

"Best Hotel To Stay At In Mackinaw City!"

5
20/11/2017

This is the only hotel I would recommend. From the Front desk staff to housekeeping everyone is very friendly and welcoming. It is very clean and offers a beautiful place to stay. We have been coming here for over 10 years and wouldn't go anywhere else!

"Satisfied, for the price..."

16/11/2017

The stay was satisfactory, however that was with an off-season room rate. The facilities are good, the room was a bit "tired", needs to be updated. I believe it was an older section. Management needs to replace the sofa in the Lobby (really embarrassing!)

"Great Off Season Value"

5
06/11/2017

We always stay here for the end of season Great Turtle Race on the Island. The motel is a great off season value. Wonderful rooms. Full breakfast. Walking distance to downtown and the Sheplers dock. The only downside is no public access Internet that I am aware of. Maybe they have wifi.

"Excellent Hotel"

04/11/2017

I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Best Western. The room was large and clean. The bed was comfortable. The room had an awesome view of Lake Erie. I was quite impressed with how big the room was. The next time we are in Mackinaw City we will definitely stay here. My only complaint (I don't even want to complain about this but figure it's pertinent) is the staff was not overly friendly. They were very efficient but didn't have outgoing personalities. Not a big deal but they could interact with the guests just a little better.

"Never ever stay here!"

02/11/2017

Worst hotel stay of my life. Hands down. Can't give explicit details because trip advisor won't allow me. So i will say from PERSONAL experience...there were bugs. Which i won't reveal specifically. I'll just say they could possibly survive a nuclear holocaust..... Management was rude and insulting. We were on our honeymoon and were forced to come home 2 day's early with no reimbursement for the time we didn't stay. In addition the corporate response was of no assistance. I fear for the health of anyone planning to or is currently booked here.

"Great Location and Offerings"

31/10/2017

Our room was spacious with a bar fridge, coffee-maker, wifi, balcony, HDTV and an extremely comfortable bed. The hot breakfast was great; however, you do have to walk outside to get to the room on the second floor. The indoor pool looked inviting. Plenty of free parking and you are within walking distance of downtown.

"On the road"

30/10/2017

Back from the Grand on Mackinaw Island and needed a room. Last minute check in and the gal at the desk was great. 3rd floor room on the bay was awesome. Nice place to stay, walking distance to the down town tourist stuff. But back to reality... true 5 star hotels cost a whole lot more. We would stay there again.

"Family Fall Weekend"

5
30/10/2017

The Best Western Dockside was the perfect choice for our family. We received adjoining rooms as requested and Ann Marie was wonderful upon check in and out. It is with in walking distance to lots of shops, restaurants and the ferry docks. If we travel to Mackinaw City next fall we will stay there again.

"Clean but needs updating"

3
28/10/2017

The bedroom area had a sleeper sofa, coffee table, small table with 2 chairs to eat at and 2 queen beds along with a large Tv cabinet and a bench. The chairs and the sleeper sofa needed to have the cushions replaced (both broken down and uncomfortable). There was also a closet with hangers, along with ironing board and iron. Great view of the beach and water from the very small balcony. The bathroom definitely needed updating. We were not in the room very much and only stayed 2 nights. There were plenty of towels and washcloths. There were lots of dead flies in the open area by the ice and bottled water machines. you would think that they would get vacuumed up once a day.

"Very nice place to relax"

5
28/10/2017

My family stayed here on 10/25/17 during our vacation of Michigan. The motel was very clean with very nice rooms. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The pool was nice and warm. Which was much welcome since it was a cold night. The only downside is we had to go outside after leaving the indoor pool area to get back to our room. Not a deal breaker by any means but just annoying. Would stay here again the next time we are in town. Funny thing as I write this review I see the rooms are going for $700.00. I booked online for $86.00. Nice place but not worth the current $700.00 price tag.

"A Great Place to Stay!"

26/10/2017

While traveling to Mackinac Island, my wife and I checked in at the BW Dockside as it was close to Sheppler's Ferry. I was amazed at the wonderful discount we received! We had reserved a court-side room and was thrilled with our room! It was a suite! Very clean, excellent staff, great beds! The breakfast was fantastic! Ample food, great variety! Also, there are great places to eat nearby! Highly recommended!!!

"Close to town and comfortable"

4
26/10/2017

Nice location for exploring the town of Mackinaw City. The hotel was a pleasant experience to stay. The staff was friendly and the location is a short walk to town and all the ferries that go to the island. The indoor pool and hot tub are great to refresh after a hot day. In the morning they have a large breakfast with plenty of food and seating. Behind the hotel is a nice sandy beach you can relax and swim. The room is typical of a Best Western, the bed was comfortable and clean. There are plenty of options for sightseeing and exploring the town.

"Secnd day of 76th Birthday Trip"

5
23/10/2017

Stayed her on the 2nd night of my 76th year Birthday trip.. Was able to get our room in good time. Very nice room but bathroom area is fairly small. They should replace the toilet stools with higher ones so you don't feel like you are setting on the floor. Was surprised seeing a lot of Amish couples there and found out they were from the area in Ohio that we go visit a few times a year. They were on a tour bus trip. We seen several of them on Mackinaw Island too.

"Beautiful sunrise view over the water"

5
23/10/2017

I stayed on 10/21/17 and really enjoyed the stay. The room was comfortable, clean, and tastefully decorated, but the best amenity by far was the view! I had a waterfront view room and in addition to the watching the fantastic sunrise from the balcony, we heard the waves crashing on then beach when the door-wall was open. In the evening a bonfire had been set on the beach and after our day of site seeing in the UP it was a blessing to relax in the evening by the waterside with a fire. Will stay again and next time I'll plan a longer trip so I have more time to enjoy the hotel.

"overrated"

3
23/10/2017

Hotel could have done better at senior rates. Felt we were a burden to deal with when we presented AARP card. I found better deals elsewhere in the city at a much better rate. Next trip to the area will be with more scrutiny.

"Very disappointed"

1
19/10/2017

Looking at the hotel on the website the lobby looked very spacious and very high class. However, it was nothing like that. Very small and not very welcoming. The person who worked the front desk was very rude and didn't even say hello. The rooms okay but again they did not depict the pictures on there website. Also it being called a hotel I assumed the entry doors would all be on the interior of the hotel, but all the rooms were on the exterior of the building. So I constantly heard people walking by or cars. The beds were very comfortable and included a hot tub but we did not use it. The breakfast was horrible even though there sign stated "voted best breakfast". First off the coffee machine broke and they would bring out a pot of coffee about every 15 minutes for approx 30 guests for breakfast. There was one lady working the breakfast bar and she seemed clueless. Maybe she was just frustrated because so many people were upset about no coffee. The only good thing was the waffles u made yourself. The breakfast sausage was barley warm and tasted like nothing I've never had before. And not in a good way. Very strange taste to it. The other weird thing is the room the breakfast was served in. Every now and then you could feel the whole room move. Can't explain it other than it seemed like the whole room was being blown around. Very strange. When we checked out myself and several other guests had to wait about 10 minutes before anyone arrive at the front desk so we could check out. When we did check out the workers were just as rude as when we checked in. Did not say thank you or goodbye. Very disappointed. I came here about 10 years ago and it was much better. Next time I will definitely check trip advisor before booking. I see other people had the same complaints.

"Go back every October"

5
17/10/2017

This is our favorite place to stay year after year when we visit in the fall. You cannot beat the lake view, good breakfast, nice room, warm pool, and good prices in October. We will continue to choose this hotel.

"Poorly planned when it was built."

3
17/10/2017

The rooms here are quite nice. Newer and updated. It looks clean as long as you just look and don't check. The rim of the shower hadn't been touched for a LONG time...maybe never. There were gaps under the doors in the rooms...that lead directly outside. The most annoying feature was the fact that you MUST walk outside along a third floor walkway to get to the breakfast area. The morning we ate there, it was windy, and raining. Considering that it is Michigan, and the location of the property, I would think someone wasn't considering this when they designed this building. The front desk was friendly and accommodating.

"Nice Place"

3
15/10/2017

This was a nice place to stay with an adequate included breakfast. I called to check on rates and they agreed to match an online quote. When we signed in I noticed she was charging more for the room before taxes were added. I reminded her of the rate and she agreed. I noticed the price being charged, before taxes, was almost $20 higher yet. I brought this to her attention and she re-entered the rate again. It was still $7 higher, than the agreed upon rate, but I just let it go. I still have to check my account and make sure I wasn't billed 3 times. We had asked for a waterfront room but put way to the north end. It was not the best view. We traveled a few blocks south for the next night. The hotels, a few blocks south, do offer better views which are closer to the water. We wouldn't stay at this property again because of the rate issues and view.

"Not Impressed"

3
15/10/2017

This is an average hotel. The breakfast was okay except the sausage had a peculiar taste. The staff at the front counter was not that attentive. Promises were made that weren't kept. The hotel is on the lake but still charges premium rates when the cooler weather sets in, probably average for the area.

"Room was OK but the service not"

3
12/10/2017

I stayed in the hotel before spending a day in Macinac Island. At this time, the hotels are not fully booked since it is the end of the season. I got a waterfront room, which was very nice. There was a view of Lake Huron from the balcony of my room. The property looks to me like a motel that has een upgraded to be a Best Western Plus. It has external corridors, but an elevator was added, which assists those living in the higher floors. The sync was in the room and not in the bathroom (like in older motels). The beds were published as Queen sized, but looked to me like double beds. Nonetheless, the room was reasonable, and quiet. The hotel is also close to the ferries to the island. Breakfast was reasonable, though falls a little short from other hotels in the same standard. My issue with the service is mainly at the reception. The receptionists were not friendly, and it seemed like they are obliged to give service, but do the minimum they can. Some of them seemed not to know basic tourist information about the ferries to Macinac Island (which bring there many of the visitors). When I checked out I inquired about the discount they offer on ferry tickets purchased at the hotel. The receptionist tried to evade from selling me a ticket, didn't seem to be familiar with the schedule of the ferries (which I read in the brochure she handed to me). Then she said, you are military, they will sell you cheap tickets. I told her I was not (I am not even American), and then she said, that their ticket will be cheaper and sole it to me. When I asked if I could keep the car in the parking lot until I return from the island, she said that no and directed me to the ferry's parking. Why the hell should I have stayed in this hotel if I can't even keep the car there until my return from the island (since the ferry's dock is a walking distance from the hotel), and especially when the hotel is far from being full. I just think of the opposite service I received from the Hampton Inn at Niagara Falls, where I was allowed to keep my car in their parking lot for as long as I want on the day I checked out.

"Beautiful"

5
12/10/2017

Our room opened up to the beach and a view of the lake. Seagulls walked up to the deck to have a look at us. The front desk offered discounted tickets to the ferry, and a buffet breakfast was included with the price of our room. This is the second year in a row that we have made this trip and stayed at the same place because we liked it so well.

"Annual color tour to Northern Michigan"

5
12/10/2017

We made reservations at the Best Western in Mackinaw for the first night of our annual color tour to the UP. I can't tell you how surprised we were when we walked into the room. The room was more like a suite, with an adjoining are with a couch and TV. The beds were very nice and comfortable, and the room was very clean. The hotel is very close to downtown so we could walk anywhere we wanted to go. Will definateyl stay there again.

"Convenient Location"

3
11/10/2017

The location is very close to the ferry to/from Mackinac Island, so very convenient. And we were able to walk to a few shops and restaurants, which was also great. The rooms were clean, although a bit worn. The temperature in the room was difficult to make comfortable - it was too stuffy. Everything in the room seemed to work fine. The breakfast was average - institutional eggs, runny oatmeal, chopped fruit that was one level above canned; coffee was very good though.

"restful"

5
11/10/2017

beds very comfortable and although the hotel appeared to be fully booked we did not have any issues with noise. Convenient to both ferry docks for a trip to the island. Could walk or bike to ferry lines. Also, short walk to downtown and eats. Nice to be right on the beach and hear the waves rolling in. Very clean and comfortable.

"Fall Get away"

3
04/10/2017

We come to Mackinaw City every year for our fall vacation. This year we decided to stay at the Beat Western express. We were very disappointed with the view. We had a view of the drainage pipe into Lake Michigan. The beds were hard. There was trash from the previous guests at the head of the bed on the floor. The wall paper is bubbling off the wall. The breakfast was so bad we went to a different place to eat. Will not rebook fir next year. The only saving grace for this hotel is the amazing staff.

"Great experience!!"

04/10/2017

We stayed by BW Dockside Mackinaw this past weekend. It was our first stay with them. We had a room over looking the water. The room had been recently renovated and new beds which were like a memory foam mattress? VERY comfortable! Everything was very clean and neat. Met our gal who cleaned our room and very sweet. She is from Jamaica. We had been to her homeland so had something to talk about. I had called ahead of time as was concerned about the beds as have back issues. All Staff was very pleasant and accommodating. Breakfast buffet had enough options to please anyone. Loved being close to the pier to walk and close to the shops as well. My husband loved the party store across the street for a milk run to go with the fudge ;-) lol. Refrigerators and coffee pots in each room. The bathroom is split so sink is not inside bath. Outside entrance. There are elevators. We did not use the pool or hot tub but it was very clean and overall we were very satisfied and will definitely come back!!

"Great hotel and great situation"

5
04/10/2017

The hotel is situated just a few minutes walk from the ferries to the island and from resturants etc. We had a wonderful lake view room with balcony which we were delighted with. Rooms are clean and comfortable and the breakfast was good. Discounted tickets for the ferry can be bought in reception and if you do not want to walk to the ferry , the ferry company runs a free shuttle.

"Best place!"

5
30/09/2017

Our room was awesome, staff were so friendly, great breakfasts. This is THE place to stay in Mackinaw!! We have tried other hotels in the area but this is our favorite place to stay! Listening to the waves right outside our room was so peaceful.

"Good off season visit"

4
28/09/2017

Room was comfortable, clean and well furnished. As with most older properties, too few electrical outlets. Breakfast better than average, clean and constantly restocked. Plenty of tables, but expect it's very crowded in summer. Only one elevator for spread out facility, but glad there was one.

"Good price"

4
28/09/2017

Was very happy with the price of the room. We did not get a lakeview romm. The rooms were very clean. They were very darkly decorated. Made me feel depressed. Check in was great, very friendly and the offered great price on the ferry to the island.

"Mackinac City Gem"

5
27/09/2017

This is a very nice hotel close to the downtown and near the docks. It has a beautiful beach, plus a pool. The rooms are very clean and the beds are very comfortable. If traveling to Mackinac City or to Mackinac Island, I would highly recommend the hotel.

"Convienent"

4
26/09/2017

We stayed here on our way to Mackinac Island. The hotel is nice, the people are nice and it is very close to the ferries. Some of the rooms are a little bizarre, almost like dungeons, dark and underground. Parking can be a hassle, but you can leave your car here if you go to the island. My biggest beef has to do with the Breakfast Buffet, they are a little too frugal on it! They had no fresh fruit, only canned fruit cocktail! Yuck! For the prices they charge they can do much better on the buffet.

"It's ok - but the location is great"

3
26/09/2017

We stayed here for part of our family vacation. I have a husband and 6 and 7 year old. We had a room, with a balcony, facing the water, which is beautiful to wake up to in the morning. The doors are all outside (i.e. there are no interior hallways to your room). To get to the pool or breakfast, or fitness center, you have to go outside. The pool was warm the first day, and the second day it cooled off. There were lots of chemicals in the pool and my 12 and 13 year old nieces kept washing out their eyes. I also had to wash out my 6 year old's eyes. The hot tub was nice. The rooms are a bit dated, but you have a candy store and ice cream across the street, as well as a mini mart, which sells great deli sandwiches and wraps and pizza. It's also only a few block walk to the little shops, night time laser show and the attractions. There are no microwaves in the rooms, so you are stuck walking to the lobby area if you need a microwave. There are fridges in the room. The staff was friendly. The breakfast left something to be desired. I had raisin bran and yogurt every morning, and there were fresh apples for a snack for later. The kids liked the donuts, cheerios, frosted flakes, and of course waffles. The eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy are standard hotel quality. You have access to 3 water parks, which we did not do because the weather was so beautiful.

"Excellent"

20/09/2017

Love the location. Rooms always clean. Pool is great. Service always right there when asked. Within walking of all stores and restaurants, ferry's, and trolleys. Beach has great view and usually clean.(unclean from visitors not hotel).

"Great Room ..Awesome View!"

5
19/09/2017

We are very impressed with this Hotel! Had a room that look out over the lake with walk out onto the beach. It was nice to sit out on the private patio and enjoy the view. Room was clean and very comfortable! Location was great to get out for a walk ! Check in was easy and the staff very friendly! Breakfast in the morning had plenty of choices ! We are planning on returning next year for a longer stay to enjoy all that Mackinaw has to offer!

"Excellent stay"

18/09/2017

The room was very clean and the service was friendly. We stay here every year and have for many many years. I'd recommend this hotel to anyone and everyone. We've come up with family and as a couple. We even got married on the beach at the hotel 5 years ago.

"Perfect view"

5
17/09/2017

We stayed on the guest floor which walked out to the beach. The weather was perfect, so we sat in the lounge chairs provided & had some adult beverages. The jacuzzi in the room was very nice. We slept with the patio door open, which may not have been the safest thing to do, but we felt comfortable having only the screen door closed. We stayed at this hotel 20+ years ago and enjoyed it even more this time. You can get discounted tickets for the ferry at the hotel also. Staff was very helpful & friendly. Bed was very comfortable also. Breakfast was one of the best on our 7 day road trip

"Not The Best Western I Expected"

2
13/09/2017

We won't be returning to this location. The facility was basically an upgraded old motor inn with outdoor room entrances. The floors in the room squeaked and popped. The AC was very noisy when running. The breakfast consisted of tub of powdered donuts, some cereals, bagels, soupy gravy and soggy sausages. The room above us was very noisy with the sound of people running late at night and early in the morning.

"Normally give a 5 to this Hotel"

4
13/09/2017

We have stayed at this Best Western (and others) and would normally give a 5. This particular visit, we were disappointed by the breakfast buffet, and the staff was not quite as friendly. Love the little patio with table and chairs.

"Very nice place to stay"

5
12/09/2017

Everything was good. the room was nice and BIG The breakfast was better than some other motels. the location was good and sevice by staff was good and friendly. Will plan to stay there again when we make a stop at Mackinaw City.

"Good and Not so good"

3
12/09/2017

A better than average place in this resort city but they need work on their staff as to friendliness, hospitality and efficiency. Room was nice and breakfast better than average. Room rate was a good value on one night of our 2 night stay, but overpriced for the second one.

"Rude staff and malfunctioning heater"

1
11/09/2017

Staff was extremely rude upon check-in and check-out. Reported that our heating unit was making loud squealing noises and not functioning properly; had to report twice and the unit was finally replaced on the 3rd day of our stay. No apology, and no offer to move us to another room even though we paid full price. Our friends had a double room and one of the made-up beds had only a box spring with no mattress.

"Summer vacation 2017"

5
05/09/2017

We enjoyed our stay at the Best Western Dockside in Mackinaw City. We had a great room with a balcony facing the water. We loved listening to the waves. We had a great view of the ferry boats to the island. Will definitely stay at this hotel again.

"Family getaway"

5
05/09/2017

This hotel is very close to downtown as you can get. The room was clean and the pool was warm. The hot tub was hot! The pool could use a good scrubbing on the tile. Check in was smooth and easy. It is a bit of a walk to get breakfast or the pool and you have to go outside to get to both. We had a lakeview and the beach was clean.

"GREAT HOTEL"

5
05/09/2017

Such an adorable room. We stayed in a suit with a door separating two rooms and it was very quite. Balcony's were small, but anything bigger and it would be scary to walk out. Bed was comfy, pool was nice, breakfast was ok. Didn't interact with any staff, just the way i like it.

"Great facility"

4
05/09/2017

If you plan on going to Mackinac Island and spend a day or two in the area, I recommend staying at this place. Very reasonably priced, breakfast included, walking distance to the downtown Mackinaw City and has a pool and the beach is just on the other side. The only downside was the reception staff. My father in law, whose English is limited, was trying to get help setting up the internet. I understand that he had a strong accent and it was difficult to communicate. I came to his assistance when I realized he was at the front desk and the ladies had the audacity to say, in front of me, "We don't speak Chinese". I promptly told her he didn't speak Chinese but was Korean. The other employee then said, "Ching Ching" . Very unprofessional and upsetting for me. When the issue was addressed, of course they denied it. Other than this, the hotel itself was nice.

"Nice Location"

4
05/09/2017

We had a lake front room at this hotel. The view was beautiful. However it was a little cool during our stay to use the beach. It is convenient to restaurants and to both ferry docks if you are heading to Mackinac Island or on one of the lighthouse tours offered. Easy walking distance to downtown and the shops there. Rooms are large and nicely decorated.

"Nice Hotel, Good Location, Clean"

4
31/08/2017

We just returned from a two night stay here. We had tried to get rooms on Mackinac Island for the Flower and Garden Show, but everything was booked. Our room was clean, quiet and comfortable. It was directly in between both ferry lines and close to several restaurants. Being directly on the lake was spectacular and fortunately, our room faced the water so we were able to hear the sounds of the water all night long. My only complaint about the room was that the mattress was not very comfortable. You could feel the metal edge when you sat on the side and the pillow were ridiculously small. The breakfast room was large but the food was just ok. We did not use the pool area at all. Some of the staff was very friendly while others were not. Overall, this was a good stay for what it was.

"Great value, excellent staff!"

5
27/08/2017

Nice hotel, on the lake. Very large rooms and friendly staff. Great location, you can walk all over the city and even to either of the ferries to Mackinac Island. Breakfast is standard hotel fare, not great, not bad - but for the price of the room and to feed a family of four, it is a great value. Staff found my daughter's forgotten favorite stuffed animal, kept it safe for us to retrieve on our return drive from the U.P. This was priceless!

"best western dockside"

5
26/08/2017

very good value for money. breakfast is varied and food good big clean, bright room with view of water. had a balcony waterside room and it was nice to see/hear the water and birds and boats/ships on the water. room was big and had a lot of lighting options. Clean and friendly responsive staff.

"Great Family Hotel"

5
24/08/2017

I have never been so impressed with a Best Western! The hotel is right on the beach, our room had a balcony and was very clean. We will be coming back with the kids as this is a great hotel for families. The only aspect of the booking that we were not pleased with was the hotel front desk staff. The have no regard for pleasantries or customer service. Staff at this hotel are seasonal from out of the country, kind of disappointing to spend money at an establishment that doesn't hire American workers. It seems that most businesses in Mackinaw employ staff in this manner, you will see run down hotels in the area that have been (poorly) repurposed to house seasonal workers.

We had a wonderful stay. The bed was comfy and everything worked properly. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room decor was really nice and appealing. The location was absolutely perfect. The breakfast buffet needs some improvement and needs some attention.

We stayed at Dockside for 3 nights. They allow fures to be built on the beach at nite at designated areas..We met some pretty amazing people who invited us into their group to socialize and talk. It was awesome. The breakfast bar was very good. Very clean and always well stocked. Hotel room was good. I am not a fan of the sink being in the open -not in the bathroom. We had the beachfront view and the balcony was awesome to just sit and look at the gorgeous water. Perfect location to walk to the shopping and bar areas as well as the water boats to get over to the island.

Over all satisfaction I would say is good. The property was clean, well furnished and the staff were friendly and eager to help in any way they could. The location I thought was excellent. Just a short walk to the ferries, shopping and several restaurants. The only negative was the internet. My first night I almost never got on line and when I did it was impossible to get to any web sites. Next morning was the same. After we returned from the Island that afternoon it had improved but later on that night I experienced the same problem. If you do extensive work on the net I would say that this B/W wouldn't be your best option for accommodations. Besides the net being a problem it was satisfied with the facility.

"Very family friendly, clean hotel."

20/08/2017

The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is a little outdated, however the rooms are very clean. The hotel sits on a little beach which was great for the 5 kids we had with us. It's within walking distance of the ferry over to Mackinaw Island. The pool is nice. The only reason I am giving this 4 stars is because the hook in the bathroom fell off the first day and I asked them to come and fix it and they never did. We would for sure stay at this hotel again.

Wonderful location and nice room with a Jacuzzi! Staff very helpful and friendly. Close to shops, dock for ferry to go to Mackinac Island. Complementary breakfast was very good - that is not true at all hotels with such a perk. An overall great experience.

Stayed 3 nights. Perfect jumping off point for upper Michigan and Mackinaw Island. Clean and comfortable. Reasonably priced. Easy walking distance to ferry, shopping and dining. Pool, laundry on site.

This is the second time we have chosen to stay at a Best Western for vacation and we are pleased again! Our room faces the beach and has a balcony I love being able to sit outside and listen to the waves. The rooms are clean and spacious. The breakfast was very good, we love to eat a good decent breakfast before heading out for our day. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

"Only Good Qualities - Comfy Bed & Beach Location"

10/08/2017

This is definitely a lower-grade hotel without a lot of attention to amenities or customer service. The only redeeming factor during our stay was the very comfortable beds & pillows and its location on the beach for swimming & sun bathing. The hotel definitely needs some attention in the rooms themselves.

We had a lovely room with a balcony overlooking the lake. It is very close to the ferry docks; we bought our ferry tickets at the hotel to get a discount. The staff was helpful and we would definitely stay there again.

09/08/2017

Our rooms were very niice and clean. We had lakeside lower level rooms so we were able to walk out to the lake. The breakfast bar was good with plenty of choices. The hot tub was spacious and the pool was clean and warm. And, the hotel staff was friendly. We would definitely stay here again!!

"Overpriced"

08/08/2017

The hotel is very outdated, not sure what style they are going for, but could use some serious remodeling...we paid almost 200 with a Jacuzzi in the room, which was nice except when I was filling it I found a hair, yuk! Plus the timer being on the other side of the room makes no sense, we had to get out every 15 minutes to turn it. The bed was comfortable so I cant complain about not getting any sleep...Bathroom was clean. Breakfast the next morning was meh...large selection but lacked flavor. I only served a biscuit with gravy on top and sausage because I cant eat eggs but man, no flavor at all! Even the orange juice had a funny flavor, like not enough sugar...I wont be going back to this hotel since there are others that I could try and maybe like a whole lot better...

"Lake View "

02/08/2017

This is an older BW, but it's updated, clean, and comfortable. We had a lake view room with access to the sandy beach adjoining our patio. Nice selection of food available for the complimentary breakfast. Conveniently located near shops, restaurants, and the ferries. The desk clerk ordered our ferry tickets with the online discount and charged them to our room. The parking lot seemed to be full most of the time. We left our car parked and walked where we needed to go.

"Beautiful!"

01/08/2017

I would highly suggest a lakeside room! Maybe a bit more expensive but worth it for the view and comforting sounds of the waves splashing on the shore. We enjoyed the beach and our room was clean and comfortable.

"First Time Visitors"

01/08/2017

The hotel was extremely clean, the staff was courteous and inviting, and the location was great! The pool are is very clean and lighted well. The beds were extremely comfortable as was the room. We were close to the elevator on the 2nd floor which was convenient. There were also ample amounts of ice machines, drink machines as well as snacks.

"Wonderful service, location, rooms!"

31/07/2017

Booked through Mackinac Island's tourism site and was not disappointed. The hotel upgraded our room. The room was spotless and comfortable. The staff was so friendly and pleasant. We arrived early but we were able to do all of the paperwork and get our ferry tickets. Hotel is on a sandy, beautiful beach and within walking distance of the ferry, shops, restaurants, etc. The breakfast was delicious and had more options than I have ever had at a hotel. We will be back!

"Dated but good value"

31/07/2017

Great location easy walk to restaurants and to ferry service. Get a room facing the lake, awesome view. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. We were in room 207 which is right above beach access so very noisy. The bathroom is small and dated with the sink in entrance way. The beds are comfortable. Very good value for the 119 price

Love this hotel. I go with friends and then again with family. Beautiful view. On the water. Awesome beach area. Never get in my car as everything is in walking distance of this hotel! Will be back at least once a year.

"Best Western Dockside"

25/07/2017

Great location for access to restaurants and shops. Water side is great for morning sun. Good shelter walking from room to amenities during rainstorms, staff is very friendly and helpful. Family used the game room a couple of nights and staff was very supportive in allowing food for our party.

"Nice Family hotel"

24/07/2017

We stayed in this hotel for 2nights. We had 2 rooms. We visited with our parents, hubby and the toddler. We had waterfront rooms. It was so serene. We enjoyed sitting in our balcony sipping coffee while reminiscing old times. The rooms had refrigerators and microwave which made life easier with the toddler. They had complimentary breakfast which was fairly good. We enjoyed the freshly cut fruits. This hotel is very near to the dock where you can take boats to go to mckinac island. The boats company sends free shuttles to pick up the guests. The front desk was helpful too.

"Mackinaw"

24/07/2017

Location is great and close to downtown. Bottom room leads right to the beach which was nice. Beach was nice and was nice to swim in. Room was clean. Breakfast was good. Rates are high for the weekend. My rate doubled from Thursday to Friday.

"Good hotel right on the water"

4
24/07/2017

This hotel was good and room was large. We got a king bed room on the lakeside and so we also had a private balcony that faces Lake Huron. This made the room larger and you can't beat the view. There is also a private beach for this hotel. Best Western hotels can be hit or moss but this one is mostly a hit. I do quibble a bit over room rates but it is Mackinac city. There is also a free breakfast buffet with a good selection. Shopping and restaurants are all within walking distance which is always a good thing.

"Peaceful getaway"

5
20/07/2017

The room was very clean and was serviced well during our 3 day stay. We enjoyed the complimentary breakfast too. It was extensive and had quite a variety compared to other hotels we have visited. The hotel was in walking distance of the town's activities but wasn't in a noisy area.

"Terrible Experience Rude Staff"

1
20/07/2017

My family and I called days before arrival and confirmed a 2 bed, pull out sofa with court side and had the lady verbally confirmed twice. They were kinda rude on the phone when placing order over the phone. I wanted to stay at Clarion but it was too expensive so I called here instead. We were treating the kids to a road trip. My family and I are from Canton, MI so we drove along way to come here to be closer to Mackinaw Island. Day of arrival staff provided us with room only to find out we had the wrong room.So I called downstairs and the woman said to me"maybe you dont remember what you order' I said to her "I am a very educated woman with a MSW and I do not appreciate the disrespect let me speak to a manager: Mind you we raveled with our two kids about 6-7 hours to arrive to this! So then I said please just let me speak to a manager she told me the manager on duty was not there. So I then said can we please have the room we ordered she said we do not have that room as of now but if you pay extra.I can give you ocean view. I then said no, why would I pay extra. So I asked for my money back after she preceded to argue with me she then told me. I could not get my money back per policy of 3 day hold. I told her then she is going to have to get manager or local police to settle the matter because the room we paid for and confirmed is not what we received and I am not paying more money. Then she finally refunded my money and we left. I have never in my life been so mistreated and starred at by the whole front desk staff (while giggling, which then lied to and was told Anna the front desk manager who all the sudden popped out the back room okay the refund but remember they said manager was not on duty ) . I I left my family and I and went to Clarion which was AMAZING.

"Comfortable and Pleasant!"

5
20/07/2017

I would actually rate our stay right between "Outstanding" and "Good". My one small critique would be the customer service at check in. The front desk person who helped us seemed to do the minimum to welcome us and answer questions. Subsequent visits to purchase tickets and to check out were very pleasant and the staff was very helpful. Our room was very comfortable and a convenient base from which to explore Mackinaw City and Mackinac Island.

"Good stay"

5
19/07/2017

Was priced reasonable. $120 for double Clean updated room with lake view Informative and friendly staff (probably from Jamaica) as they had cool accents. Breakfast was standard hotel hot breakfast with biscuits, gravy, eggs, sausage, stuff you can put in a toaster, cereal, oatmeal with fixins, fruit, coffee, more standard hotel stuff that you can eat....and oh yea, those standard hotel waffle maker machines. The food was same as I have eaten in other hotels across the country. It didnt hurt my stomach. Over all a good value.

"Excellent stay."

13/07/2017

If you are going to stay at one of the best cities in Michigan, Mackinaw City, then you need to stay,at what I personally feel, the best hotel would be, Best Western Plus Dockside. The other hotels are great but there's something about the Best Western Plus Dockside. Whether it's the great breakfast bar, nice clean rooms, the indoor pool, sitting on the patio watching your children play on the beach, or having a romantic walk on the beach. To me it's calming and relaxing and one of the best vacations you could have!

"Our annual stop on route to the Upper Peninsula"

5
12/07/2017

We have been guests at Dockside for many years. This is my wife's beach time for our anniversary trip. The staff is great and go the extra mile to please. Maintenance is always painting, cleaning and/or improving things. It's a comfortable walk to island ferry, good food, pubs, shopping, movies, mini-golf, zip line, museum ship, and free concerts. I guess my best recommendation is that we have stayed here annually for well over 25 years. If it were not great, we would not have made the 2nd visit. Highly recommended!

Nice Clean hotel with a great view of the lake and friendly staff. Breakfast was your standard complimentary breakfast but the room was large so you weren't stepping over over people. Parking lot was large

"Nice place to stay"

4
05/07/2017

This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel. The rooms are nice large enough to spread out for a stay, but not a suite by any means. We had a room with a patio that went right to the beach. This is a great family experience with everything in walking distance. My only rub is this cost almost as much as a room in Hawaii. Other then that I have no real complaints, the staff was nice, and housekeepers we fast and efficient.

"Motorcycle Trip"

03/07/2017

17 people on 14 motorcycles traveled for 10 days from PA to Michigan. This was a great hotel for us. Ample parking for bikes and very helpful staff. The fact that HOG members get a discount was icing on the cake Lake front rooms have wonderful view of Mackinaw Bay/Straights.

"Good price and location, poor amenities"

3
02/07/2017

Great location, closest to the action. Beach access is very nice, try to get a room beachside on the first floor...there are steps right to the beach. Room is nice, however beds seemed small. Parking was an issue late at night. No microwave in the room, you have to go to the lobby for that. Breakfast was TERRIBLE even by free hotel continental breakfast standards. The swimming pool and hot tub had so much chlorine that my family and I couldn't hardly use it because it burned our eyes and face badly. No guest laundry, for a hotel on the beach this is a must. Good price and location, poor amenities.

"Nice location, above average room"

29/06/2017

We recently spent a night in Mackinaw City and stayed at the Best Western Plus Dockside. While the facility as a whole is a bit "tired" our room was very satisfactory. While we did not have a beachfront accommodation, the room was plenty large for the two of us (two queen beds, which we prefer), and the room was clean and well-maintained. It is an easy walk to the downtown attractions and to local dining spots; not too far out of town, as many local hotels seem to be. There is a complementary continental breakfast, but we skipped it in favor of the Starbucks which is an easy walk up the street. The only negative (which really doesn't fall on the hotel management) was the seemingly large number of young kids running and screaming through the hotel at a very early hour (7:00 am or earlier) on the day of our departure -- that would seem to fall on the parents rather than the hotel. We will stay again on future visits.

"Nice Hotel"

5
29/06/2017

We stayed here for 3 days. We had a first floor beachfront room. Although there was no balcony there was nice place to sit outside our door and just 3 steps up to the beach. Beach was great. Ate lunch near the water. The room was nice although it could be updated a bit. Great location with the ferry an easy walk. Great ice cream place , Mckey's close by. The breakfast area was very big and a great variety of food. Would certainly stay again!

"Great value"

28/06/2017

Motorcycle trip with husband and stayed two nights. Stayed on first floor, lakeside and enjoyed the balcony. GREAT, firm mattress - what a pleasant surprise! Upon arrival we were upgraded to a King jacuzzi room. Thanks! Big, breakfast area. Room included microwave and frig. We also used the laundry on-site. We recommend this property!

"Good experience"

4
28/06/2017

It was a good experience. Good location, staff seems good. We were upgraded to a lake view room without having to pay extra. We left something in our room after checkout and they let us back in to get it with no problems. Very pleased with my experience.

"Good hotel, bad beds"

4
28/06/2017

The hotel was clean and the view was great. The beds were very hard and we all awoke with back pain. We loved the location and would be back if the beds were better. The pool and hot tub were clean and nice also.

"Do not accept a 1st floor room. They do not have balconies!"

2
22/06/2017

Best Western Dockside and the Mackinaw Tourism Chamber of Commerce let us down! The photos on both websites show wonderful balconies. I signed up for a room with a balcony. When checking in I even verified the room had a balcony whith Best Western Staff. We were given room 112. The balcony was a dugout. It was 2 to 3 feet below the beach. We needed to climb up stairs from the sunken porch to see the beach. The only view was the bottom of lounge chairs and the side of the dock! Now I know why they call this location "Dockside" It had a pitiful view! Never accept a 1st floor room at this hotel. Balcony floors are 2 and up! 1st floor was full of bugs. Our only option was to spend as little time as possible in this room. Thank god the weather allowed us to keep busy with our grandchildren outside most of the day! Best Western and the Mackinaw Tourism Chamber of Commerce let us down. The website pictures did not represent the room we received! If you look closely at the photos on the website of balconies you can see the 1st floor with dugout patios.

"Worst mattress I've ever slept on"

2
22/06/2017

Good location is the only positive point for this hotel. Our mattress and pillows were horrible. Neither gave good support. We had to take alleve this morning for our back aches. This facility is in desperate need of updating. Fairly clean and OK for our one night stay. Breakfast was mediocre. We will not return until they update the beds and facilities. H.O.G. members, not a rider friendly hotel - no washing station.

"Fun trip to visit Michigan"

21/06/2017

For the price, it was O.K. The room was clean and faced the Lake Huron which was nice. Weather was cool while we were there but had a great time going over to Mackinaw Island. I would recommend this hotel although it is not new.

"Nice Hotel at Nice Location"

5
13/06/2017

In general happy with my one night stay. Had a courtyard 1st floor room which was surprisingly quiet although it was a Sunday night. No complaints, what I expected. I booked via the Mackinaw City tourism website which was significantly cheaper than any other price I found. Head across the street to the wine/beer tasting place too! If you are handicap or stairs are an issue, give them a call to discuss more as most rooms are up stairs and breakfast is on the upper floor. There is an elevator but not super convenient to all rooms.

"Nice room, good breakfast, don't go in May or beginning of June"

06/06/2017

There are millions of flying midges, nats all over the hotel, the doors to all the rooms, and on the cars in the parking lots, as well as all over town near the lake. They are a huge nucence, and land on you and fly in your face. They are around for a few weeks in May/ June, and of course the hotel doesn't warn you of this. They got in my room every night, can in the hot tub. I killed over 20 of them in my room the 1st night. The room was nice and clean otherwise, and the location is within walking distance to all restaurant s and the ferry.

"Good price, thin walls"

04/06/2017

The location and price were excellent. We walked to the downtown restaurants each night. The shuttle to the ferry picked us up at the hotel. We parked our car when we arrived and never needed to use it again until we left. Breakfast was good. The only drawback is the fact that the walls are so thin you could hear people talking and the floors shook when someone walked down the outside hallway. Strange infrastructure. Many of the hallways are on an incline. But overall a good value.

"Nice for the location"

3
04/06/2017

Decent hotel considering there are fancier options. Its one of the closest to the ferry and downtown, so walking everywhere was a breeze. The pool area was nice and clean, and not terribly busy most of the time, but the jets don't work too well in the hot tub. The rooms are simple enough, sheets and shower were clean but I was a little weary about putting my clothes in the drawers as the furniture seemed a little dirty. Breakfast is free, so I guess you can't complain much, but there aren't a ton of offerings so filling up on eggs and bagels is about what you'll get, but again decent for what it is. Great price if you are looking for a budget hotel so you can spend your money on the attractions. I would stay here again.

01/06/2017

We wanted a hotel close to the ferry for Mackinac Island. This was a great place just for that. Our room was on the bottom floor, but we had access to ourside from our room - just three steps up. Hotel is a little dated, but great for what we needed. The breakfast was fine too, just a little odd that it's upstairs over the carport. Older people might find that difficult to climb up the outdoor steps.

24/05/2017

Very happy with our waterfront room for a quick overnight stay. The view and the balcony were worth the little bit extra for the waterfront room. Everything was very clean and appears to be recently updated. (If you can't find the coffee pot or the mini frig, look in the armoire.) The one little thing that we really appreciated was the clean sleeve to hold the remote control...remote controls are one of the items with the most bacteria and germs on it and we always put the hotel controls in a plastic bag...nice to see that they proactively did this. Thank you :) The staff was friendly and helpful and there were a lot of choices on the breakfast bar...along with the standard muffins, breads there were eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy and a fruit salad.

"Great Location - Nice Hotel"

4
22/05/2017

We spent two nights here and enjoyed our stay. We were able to check in a couple of hours earlier than the usual check in time, and took advantage of that to use their lovely pool and hot tub. It was deserted, so we had the chance to swim laps and relax in the hot tub. The pool is much larger than most hotel pools, and we appreciated that. Our room was very chilly when we arrived, due to their policy of requesting that guests turn off the AC/Heating when leaving. It was only in the upper 40's outside, but it did heat up pretty quickly when turned on. One complaint I had is that the heater was extremely noisy. Thankfully, I had earplugs which allowed me to sleep comfortably. The bed was also very comfortable. We loved the beautiful lake view and the gulls and Canada geese that were on the beach. The very friendly front desk staff assisted us in purchasing ferry tickets to travel to Mackinac Island, where we had a wonderful day. Breakfast is served in a large dining area, but bundle up if it is chilly, as you have to walk outside to get to it. There was plenty to eat and helpful breakfast attendants. There are a number of restaurants within walking distance of the hotel, as well as numerous other hotels. Our favorite restaurant was Nonna Lisa's down the street to the right of the hotel. It was nice not to have to drive a distance to have dinner. Would probably stay here again, if in the area.

"Overall Good but Noisy"

21/05/2017

We stayed two nights here as we wanted to take the ferry to Mackinac Island. We were pleasantly surprised how close it was to the ferry and to the cute little touristy town. Our room had two Queen beds which was a bonus and the price was great!!! The bathroom fan was super loud and they were quick to fix it. Beds were comfy but my husband didn't care for the pillows. The noise level was higher than we thought it should be since it was such a cold and windy two days. We did face the parking lot so that didn't help. We only had breakfast one of the two days. It was the standard fare overall. It's great that the offer it, that's for sure! They had a large indoor pool and spa that we didn't use....just too cold. Also a nice indoor sitting area off the pool that was walled off from the pool. A nice gathering place for family and friends.

The hotel is located on the Lake with views of the Straits and the Mackinac Bridge. If you are there in summer you have beach access, some rooms have balconies that face the water. Excellent location. Close to town and the ferries for Mackinac Island. Shopping within walking distance.

"Great Pre Island Stay"

12/05/2017

We had never stayed at a Bestern Western motel before and boy were we impressed. The motel is extremely clean and the value was really good. Carrie (?sp) at the front desk was very accommodating in showing us a room before we decided to stay. Our room overlooked the lake. The location was perfect for walking around checking out the stores and restaurants. The pool area is very nice and the whirlpool was HOT - not luke warm that you find at other hotels. After a day of driving, my husband said it felt great. The free hot breakfast the next morning had quite a spread. Carrie was also very thoughtful in bringing me a hot chocolate as I sat in the pool area to my surprise. My husband had inquired if there was hot chocolate while he was getting his coffee in the lobby that evening which there wasn't. It's those little things that the staff does that makes this motel stand out. Also you can buy your ferry tickets at a discount at the front desk.

"Stop on our way to The Grand Hotel"

08/05/2017

My husband and I recently visited the Dockside Waterfront Inn Best Western for an overnight while we were on our way to The Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island. I was a little concerned since the reviews rated the hotel as 3-star with 4+ stars from the reviewers. We were able to book a waterfront room and were very pleased with the view, the cleanliness of the room, the comfort of the beds and the hospitality of the team. This is a family-focused hotel so do not consider it a luxury stop, but we found everything to be to our standards. The breakfast was not fancy, by any means, but I can definitely see how this would be a value-added benefit to any family visiting Mackinaw. Most especially, we loved how close they are to the ferry to Mackinac Island and the convenience of transport. I would definitely recommend this hotel to others.

Very friendly staff and nice clean rooms (didn't just vacuum around furniture even cleaned under)!!? Biggest complaint was having to walk outside in the elements to get to the breakfast room and we could have wished that our rooms adjoined with an inside door but overall a pleasant stay.

"It's OK"

07/05/2017

The hotel location is great! It's within a quick walk (5 min) to restaurants, shops, and dock to take the ferry to the island. We stayed in a room with a nice beachfront view. The room was OK. Some beds were comfortable; some were not. Our TVs didn't work when we arrived. They sent someone up to check it out and then moved our room when it couldn't be fixed. A pain because we arrived late and just wanted to sleep. On the positive, they were quick to act. The breakfast was free, but the food was the same each day and had old fruit. We chose to eat elsewhere. Overall, it's an OK place to stay if you're just looking to sleep and then get out to see the town and the island.

"Great Place to Stay South of the Bridge"

26/04/2017

When your destination is Mackinaw City and not North of the Bridge, this hotel is an excellent choice. Most rooms are Lakeside with a small balcony to watch the ferries in and out of the harbour. The breakfast room is bright and happy all times of the year. Really nice pool and hot tub - bring your suit.

Booked a room at the Best Western in January for a 2 night stay in early April. Got a call 10 hours before we were leaving for Mackinaw City that our room was cancelled but we were rebooked at a Hamilton. Say what? We picked the Best Western because of tripadvisor reviews (#3 of 39), we have a Best Western rewards card and an additional discount for rewards card holders. The Hamilton is rated #28 of 39 on tripadvisor and no rewards and no additional discount. Nope not staying in the Hamilton. Stay here if you must but beware of deceptive management practices.

"Charming Room Overlooking Beach"

24/03/2017

We stayed 2 nights in early October 2016, while on a Fall trip. I've read a few reviews that considered the rooms dated or old fashioned but I did not find that to be the case at all. The rooms are decorated more in a "traditional" décor, rather than modern, which I found refreshing, lending to a more warm and cozy feel to the room. If someone's taste leans more to contemporary furnishings, then they might consider the décor "old fashioned". Being someone who likes traditional décor, I found the rooms to be very nicely done and tastefully updated. Beds were quite comfortable and we would know, as my husband and I both suffer from low back pain and a comfortable bed and a good nights rest is priority. We opted for a balcony room overlooking the beach (the off-season rate was very affordable) and it was nice to throw open the patio door and let the waves lull us to sleep, only to be greeted in the mornings by the sun rising over Lake Huron. The setting was beautiful and the beach looked very inviting. The breakfast buffet was typical, ready to eat mid-range hotel fare - nothing special but it was okay and was very convenient to eat at the hotel before heading out for a full day of activities. We found the front desk staff to be very helpful and we could purchase ferry tickets directly from them and they called for a shuttle service to take us to the ferry dock. We would definitely stay here again.

Service and the rooms/view were awesome. Breakfast was great. Looking forward to staying there again. We had a room with a balcony on the beach the view and beach were wonderful. Everything we wanted to do was within walking distance, great restaurants within walking distance.

"Great hotel"

21/03/2017

This is a wonderful hotel - be careful using the Mackinaw hotel booking site, they can change you to a different hotel. The area has a lot to offer and the hotel is in a perfect place to enjoy many attractions.

"Nice, on the beach, near main shopping area"

3
03/03/2017

This is an average hotel. We stayed here with our 5 and 6 year olds. Those with children may like the idea that they have access to other water parks other than the pool! We loved doing that :) The breakfast is the normal complementary breakfast with eggs, sausage, biscuits, gravy, waffles, cereal, donuts, bagels, etc. Take some fresh fruit for snacks later. We had a room with a balcony, overlooking the water. The rooms have entry doors that are from the outside. To get from your room to breakfast or the pool is a cold walk (in the fall). The rooms do have a refrigerator, but no microwave (that is in the lobby). It's near the shopping center and other activities.

"Oh by the way, we decided to close a few days early!"

05/11/2016

We had planned a trip to Michigan with a list of destinations we had hoped to visit. We were booking hotels as we went and on the morning of October 23, we booked this hotel for that night with no issues. We got a phone call hours later that they were going ahead and closing the hotel for the season a few days prior to what was planned. They were nice enough to rebook us at another hotel which accepted the rate. We just felt that they should not have been accepting reservations at all if this was even a possibility. Upon entering the other hotel we were rebooked at, we ran into several pretty disgruntled people that had to either move in the middle of their stay or pulled up to the hotel just to find it was closed and they had been moved. I would not consider this a reliable option to stay at either at the beginning or end of "season." Due to this experience alone, as we continued on our road trip, we would rule out Best Western immediately when we reached the next town we would be staying in.

"Very Nice and comfortable."

"Nice clean and wonderful breakfast included in our stay. Close to local areas to eat. Rooms nice big and clean. My granddaughter enjoyed the indoor pool as it was getting colder outside for our stay. Highly recommended.

"Have stayed at a "Plus" before and they are very nice and roomy."

01/11/2016

We arrived rather late so missed the view of the lake in the daylight until the next morning. The staff were very friendly and greeted us with enthusiasm. There is only one elevator and it is centrally located so if your room is at either end, it is a bit of a walk if you need the elevator (there are three floors). The sunrise was beautiful from our deck overlooking the lake. The breakfast was a little better than the normal continental breakfast. There were hot dishes and plenty of seating. The hotel is set back off the main street so there was no road noise! I would stay here again and recommend it to my friends. This was a quick overnight stay so we could get the early morning ferry to the island.

"Just as nice as before"

01/11/2016

Recently stayed here on the last night of the season. It was just as nice as the last time we stayed. You would have never know it was the last night. The room (105) was clean, neat and in good repair. The screen slider stuck, but that was to be expected with the sand from the summer season in the track. Room was quiet, the bed was soft and comfy. Exercise room was clean, I would recommend some sort of disposable wipe however. I did see clean towels but no type of disinfectant to wipe down the machines with. Breakfast lacked nothing, other than more room in my tummy to enjoy more choices! I would recommend this hotel in heartbeat and will be back!

30/10/2016

My wife and I had a very good experience when we visited Best Western Dockside. I was greeted by the ladies at the front desk when I walked in and they gave me the room cards and directions to a 4th floor room with a great view of Lake Huron. The room was very clean and seemed to be newly updated. We will most assuredly stay here again next time we visit Mackinac City.

"Mixed, but Below our Expectations"

3
28/10/2016

Very mixed experience. Loved the town and location of this hotel. However, physical lay out of this old hotel is a bit of a challenge for all but the most athletic. Asked for a ground level room and it was a flight of stairs down from the parking lot. Ramp for the luggage cart was at the opposite end of the facility from our room. Never did find an elevator. Beautiful view from our room once we settled in. Comfortable beds, but carpet was old and a bit grubby around the edges. Went to breakfast in the morning and was told it was two flights of stairs up over the entry area. Again, no elevator for those with bad knees. Breakfast lady could not keep up with restocking breakfast items and was a bit crabby. All other hotel employees were very pleasant.

"Beautiful and Clean"

The Views of the water and the Bridge were fantastic. Hotel is also beautiful. The breakfast bar was Great, Food was hot and always available. The breakfast bar is included in the room price. Close to town and the ferry's going to the Mackinaw Island. are in walking distance .

We enjoyed our visit here, very nice staff. Clean rooms and the pool was kept up nicely. Very close to all the shops and we were able to walk to eat at nearby restaurants and we found ice cream right across the road

"Very Nice Hotel & Great View"

26/10/2016

Had a very good stay here while in Mackinaw City. Lobby is a bit small but is nicely done up and front desk staff pleasant and accommodating...ie: providing us with Star Line Ferry tickets to Mackinac Island and arranging for the ferry shuttle to pick us up at the hotel. Our king bed room on the 4th floor facing the waterfront was as per our reservation request. It was clean, well appointed and felt spacious with the high ceiling and the view from our small balcony was fantastic. You need to walk outside from your room to access the lobby, breakfast area and to use other amenities that they offer which can be an inconvenience if the temps are cooler or in the case of inclement weather and is the only minor inconvenience we experienced. The elevated breakfast room/area is quite big with adequate seating and large windows. As far as the breakfast itself, it was quite good with the usual sausage patties, scrambled eggs and all the other breakfast offerings you would expect to find at a hotel nowadays. Parking is adequate but I can see where the lot might fill quickly during the busy tourist season or perhaps on weekends. There is shopping, restaurants, all of the ferry docks are nearby and it's only about a 15 or so minute walk to the main street shops and restaurants. All in all, we had a nice stay, recommend this Best Western and would book a room here again if ever in the area. Let's say a 4.5/5 points on this one. Thank you.

"A++ place. Right on the water, very clean, close to downtown, quick check in and out, good breakfast. Clean."

25/10/2016

We had room 103. Down a couple of steps and the sliding glass doors opened up on the beach. Great room, great view, convenient to the ferry. Shepler's ferry will pick you and return you to your hotel. One of the best hotels we have ever stayed in. We got a rate of $89 plus 9.79 tax. Great rate out of season-late October.

""A great play to relax and enjoy""

25/10/2016

The staff was wonderful. The rooms along with the entire facility was great. I give you all 2 thumbs up. We really enjoyed our stay. I along with another couple really enjoy all the amenities. We were pleased by the spaciousness of the rooms. If you are in need of a hotel that will accommodate a family this is the place to be.

"Great place to stay!"

I don't appreciate walking into a business and there are five women speaking a different language to each other....then they continue to do it while we stand there! Up North Jamaica? Needless to say we won't be staying there again.

"excellent view and great value"

21/10/2016

We stayed at this hotel for two nights. Quick check-in and out. The room was specious with 2 queen beds and had an excellent view of the lake. It was quiet and peaceful. Breakfast was good too. my Toddler really had lot of choices from eggs, juices, bagals and fresh waffles. we also enjoyed the game room, gym and office. overall huge property with indoor pool is perfect for kids. we would definitely recommend to families.

"Friendly, enjoyable, pleasant, affordable! An excellent place to stay."

18/10/2016

Conveniently located, friendly atmosphere, no hassle check-in and out, immaculate and very large rooms. A very pleasant and surprisingly affordable place to spend a night or a week! We were a party of 7 so were given 2 contiguous rooms, with 2 double beds that were very comfortable and smelled like brand new. The front desk personnel very laid back and friendly, gave us directions to places to eat and how to commute to Mackinac Island. I would recommend this hotel to anyone without hesitation. Great experience!

"Great Location and Views"

18/10/2016

I would recommend staying here for the convenience to local attractions, shops and ferry boats to Mackinac Island. We had rooms with lake views and the sunrise each morning is beautiful over the lake. I would stay here again.

"excellent view"

4
18/10/2016

The room was right on the lake with a small patio and only a few steps to the beach. They had lounge chairs on the beach and the view was gorgeous. The room was modern and newer with a great Jacuzzi. The room was spacious and the tv was large.

"Wow! Nice place!"

17/10/2016

We needed a hotel after a color tour and came across this Best Western. At the price we paid - VERY reasonable - we were expecting a normal Best Western. Wrong. This is right on Lake Michigan with a tremendous view. We checked the price for the weekend and it was in excess of $300! A VERY nice room overlooking the lake.

"Wouldn't stay again. "

17/10/2016

Room was ok. Smelled like strong perfume of some kind. Was clean but dated. Staff didn't seem very friendly. Breakfast in a terrible spot(have to go outside and upstairs to get to it.) it was storming so we got soaked on our way to eat and on the way back. Will choose a different hotel next time!

"Excellent choice"

5
16/10/2016

Everything about this Inn was excellent. Price was very affordable, room was beautiful, breakfast was wonderful, and location was very convenient for shopping, restaurant, and ferry to Mackinaw Island. Had little problem with door key card not working on several occasions but they were always very apologetic and finally replaced the whole unit which took care of the problem.

"Good overnight stop before heading to the Island."

4
15/10/2016

We needed a good place to stay before heading over to grand Hotel the next morning on the Island. This seemed to be a good choice based on whats listed across the lake. We were pleasantly surprised. The rooms, while a bit dated, were certainly spacious and clean. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They seem to get a ton of visitors using this as an overnight jumping off point for the Island and cater to those needs. Plenty of restaurants within nearby walking distance. I'd stay here again given similar circumstances!

"Getaway weekend"

"Very nice stay"

12/10/2016

I stayed here for three nights. The staff was very friendly and efficient. The room was large and the view of Lake Huron was BEAUTIFUL. We were here for the truck show. The weather was nice and we had our slider open all night. Saw the Harvest Moon rise and the next morning the sun rise. It was amazing. The breakfast was good and very filling. Would recommend this hotel to all my relatives and friends.

"rooms in old American style with outside walkways"

3
11/10/2016

Comfortable room but a little old fashioned with an outside walkway for room access. This means you have to keep the blinds drawn for privacy so have no natural light. The breakfast room was terrible - looked more like a travel cafe than a hotel restaurant with plastic utensils and TVs all over the place and the food was not of a high quality .

"Fall colors"

4
11/10/2016

The hotel was beautiful, and the room...not cheap though. Sheets were stiff and ruff...and I would have liked hash browns and better quality sausage. Room was very nice. Liked the lower level...only stayed for one night. Staff seemed friendly..

"Pleasure"

5
11/10/2016

Very pleasant stay. Clean, comfortable room. We'd stay there again. We loved having the lake right out our door wall. The staff was friendly & helpful. A decent breakfast is included. Easy to find and a short walk from all the shops & restaurants. Also very close to the ferry docs which was handy.

"Nice place "

4
07/10/2016

The room we had was first floor.Walk out to the beach. We had a whirlpool tub and it is big.Love that it's big.The sunrise in the morning is so worth the getting up early and sitting on the beach or on the patio and it was one of our highlight. The pool area was also very nice and very big.The hot tub was also very large in size. The pool area we just hung around in and enjoyed how clean that everything was.The only thing we did not enjoy was the dehumidifier running all the time and than both nights the thing would sound a alarm and than it would shut off. When sleeping and something that sounds like a fire alarm goes off it kinda takes away the nice peaceful sleep your getting.Other than that it was a nice place. If your going to use the pool you go outside from your room to the pool room all the room are to the outside and you walk outside for everything. The breakfast was on the third floor and you can use the elevator but than you walk all the way around the place on the third floor walk way.

"Going BacK ASAP"

06/10/2016

The best location and view you could ever wish for at any hotel. Right on the lake. Totally a relaxing experience for us both. We especially enjoyed the location and restaurants, shopping was great with sales.

"Manager Dave helped us"

5
05/10/2016

We got stranded on the north side of the Mackinaw Bridge. The manager, Dave offered to come pick us up and bring us back to the hotel. He showed up quickly in his own personal vehicle and drove us back to the hotel.

"Great location and great view!"

5
05/10/2016

The room was beautiful, staff courteous, and breakfast great. I would recommend to anyone! Our room had a lovely seating area and very spacious bedroom. Lots of restaurants within walking distance of the room.

"A Lot Of Walking If Disabled"

3
04/10/2016

This hotel is not easy to maneuver if you have walking disabilities...breakfast is up some stairs outside or a long trip to find an elevator. Not planned out well if you have walking or balance problems. Parking is a bit cramped. Expensive if not for my Reward program allowing a discount with BW. Good location to town and ferries.

"Great place before heading to the Island"

5
03/10/2016

My wife and I stayed at the hotel the night prior to heading to Mackinaw Island. The location is great as it's closest to down town and is also by the ferry docks. The staff was exceptional, including Dave, the hotel manager, who went out of his way to welcome us and provide valuable information regarding the changed ferry schedule. The room, pool area and breakfast area were all immaculate. The full breakfast was fresh and had a lot of variety and our room was large and comfortable. We spend a night in Mackinaw City each year, trying different hotels each time. While the Best Western Dockside is a little more expensive than some of the others, it was more than worth it. This will be our Mackinaw City "place" from now on.

"Very happy with location!"

4
03/10/2016

Great location - close to ferry, close to good food, close to everything! Had a great view of the water and our room was literally located right on the beach (we could walk out our sliding glass door onto the beach area). Breakfast offerings were good and plentiful. We enjoyed the in room jacuzzi after a day of exploring, too!

"Mackinaw City"

4
03/10/2016

Perfect location on the beach. You can walk to everything....Downtown, Fudge shops, the Bridge, ferries to Mackinac Island. Good free hot breakfast. Only one problem.....walk to indoor pool is outside (Brrrrr).

"Perfect location"

5
01/10/2016

We visited Mackinaw city for the first time, a weekend getaway. The prices here were much more reasonable than staying right on the island. We got the king room with jacuzzi and beach front patio. Oh my goodness, it was stunning. The room was big, beautiful and clean. Our beach front patio is amazing, we could sit and watch the ferrys going back and forth from the island. The staff at the front desk were always smiling and so helpful. The pool area with whirlpool was very big, clean and a great atmosphere. The free hot buffet breakfast was also very impressive. We WILL be staying here again.

"Great Place to Stay"

01/10/2016

Our Seniors Group stayed at the Best Western Dockside as part of our Fall Bus Trip. This is an absolutely beautiful hotel right on the lake next to everything. Beautiful walk along Lake. Short walk to the Crossings shopping area and downtown especially restaurants. . From the first check-in to the last check-out we were all treated with the utmost courteous staff. The Breakfast was exceptional, well presented and very generous. The rooms were beautiful, beds comfortable and the entire hotel was very beautifully decorated. The Staff were exceptional. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone.

"Perfectly situated for a Mackinaw City stay."

4
30/09/2016

Great hotel, great room, great breakfast, perfectly situated for walking distances to all attractions, very good value for the dollar paid. Only concern I had was the attitude of the staff member who originally served me at the front desk. This young lady should take a course on customer service. Very rude. Thankfully I endured her attitude and took a room. The hotel was definitely worth it. The remainder of the staff I met were top notch. I definitely recommend this hotel.

"Loved the lakefront room"

5
30/09/2016

We completely enjoyed our stay here, particularily the evenings after a full day of sightseeing, when we would relax on the balcony and watch the activity on the lake. Breakfast was exceptional. We stayed in the latter half of September and the cost of the room was also an exceptional value.

"Off season Score!"

5
29/09/2016

The last night of our trip and we needed a room near the Bridge before the final day's drive. I was able to get this room for $124 including taxes. King bed, jacuzzi, and a nice rustic vibe. This is a room I would probably pass on during the regular season due to cost, as we tend to lean towards "clean and cheap". Very pleased with the choice! The elevated dining area gave a view of the water, was roomy and well stocked. The desk staff was friendly and professional. Parking was a bit crowded, but not a deal breaker by any means. Short walk to downtown. I can highly recommend.

"GREAT customer service!"

28/09/2016

We were traveling with another couple and had booked this Best Western, or so we thought. My friend and I booked them from my computer. I booked the Best Western room and when she did her reservation, unknown to us, the sight had jumped to Hamilton Inn Select, just down the street. Imagine our surprise when I had a room but our friends did not have a good at the same hotel! Calls were made to the hotel she booked and they would not work with us to resolve our dilemma. Since it was check-in time, she would not refund the amount for her room. BUT, Best Western came to our rescue. They did not want our friends to have to pay twice for a room to stay in, once at her hotel and then for a room at the Best Western so we could be at the same hotel. They called the other hotel and asked if there was a room for my husband and I to move to on the waterfront? They did have a room for us, so Best Western let us out of our room fee to go with our friends to one hotel. I mean, how great is that! Not only did they make the reservation for us to have a room, but fixed it so we didn't have to pay at both hotels. So, my review isn't so much about the room we stayed in, but that the manager, Dave, and his staff jumped through hoops for us so that we could spend time with our friends at the same hotel. The each time we are in Mackinaw City, Best Western will be our first destination!

"Ideal Location"

5
27/09/2016

We chose this hotel because it was on the water and convenient to the ferry to Mackinac Island, We found the room clean and well-appointed. We particularly enjoyed the outside patio where we had cocktails one evening. The free breakfast was plentiful with many choices.

"Good medium priced hotel"

5
24/09/2016

This is an older property but the rooms are well furnished and kept up well. It is located near the ferry docks for trips to Mackinac Island. My room was in the side wing so the view of the parking lot wasn't special but they do have rooms on the beach facing the lake and the bridge. This was an excellent value for the money. The complimentary breakfast is mostly standard self service fare with both hot and cold items. Unusually, the breakfast room is on the second floor and is large and roomy. Full window walls offer a nice view. I would recommend this hotel.

"Fantastic Get away"

5
23/09/2016

The reception staff are professional and efficient both on arrival and departure. The breakfast bar offers a large variety of fresh, hot items. The lakeside rooms look out on a lovely beach next to the marina where you can see the ferries to/from Mackinaw Island. The rooms are spacious and clean with a balcony and patio doors that brings the sound of the surf into yourvroom as well as frsh air.

We loved the hotel! We had a first floor water view with a balcony that was super private. We go often to Mackinac Island and the City and this was our fav Mackinaw City hotel by far. The pool was great. The place was spotless and the breakfast was very good.

"Value for your money"

23/09/2016

I went online to Mackinaw city and was able to book this hotel for $89.00 ($98.79) after all said and done. We arrived early about 2PM and they went ahead and gave us a room. It was clean and nice. We walked behind the hotel and watched the lake and had drinks on hotel lawn chairs. Room was on the second floor but was quiet and we were able to walk around downtown and to a restaurant close by. They had a nice breakfast bar at 6AM but a little difficult to get to on the 3rd floor and had to walk in the rain a short distance on a walk way. All in all and good value.

"Terrible from top to bottom!"

Furniture and beds are old and worn out. Bathroom filthy and moldy. Breakfast is nasty. Management awful. Wifi does not work. Very rude and do not have a clue about what good customer service is. Would not advise this place to anyone. Will never stay there again.

We had a wonderful time in Mackinaw City, and loved the pool. Try to get a ground floor or second floor room as there is only one elevator in the entire building. The Staff was extremely accommodating and helpful, knowing the area dining and sights.

"Great location"

18/09/2016

Great location. Rooms a bit dated. We have a room on the end on the 4th floor. The drawback is that the patio is so small you can barely get one person on it. If you had a different unit, your patio would be bigger. Also there is only one elevator and it is not central to all the rooms. The wi-fi is really slow. The location is right on the lake and very near restaurnts and shopping and all the ferries to Mackinaw Island.

"Good Room, Great Location. Odd Hotel Layout."

My first impression of a hotel room is the 'sniff test.' Our room passed with flying colors. There were a couple of problems. Not deal breakers, but the problems with the room and the breakfast bar were why I couldn't give a '5' rating. There was a single serve coffee maker that was supplied with 2 decaf packages and only one regular. My wife and I both drink regular in the morning, and the breakfast room didn't open until 7 a.m. Fortunately, we slept late the first day so it didn't make that much difference, although I needed to go to the breakfast room for coffee immediately. The shower head installation was odd. You could direct the spray toward the back wall, but not straight down. Not a big deal but I usually step away from the shower while soaping down. I suppose I saved water by turning it off and then on again. The breakfast bar had a few problems. Of the 8 slots of available toaster capacity only 4 slots worked. And the yogurt dispenser either didn't work or wasn't filled. Finally, I'm glad it didn't rain. The rooms have outside doors and one needs to walk along these ramps, some slanting, to get to the stairs, elevator, or breakfast bar. In bad weather, it would be quite inconvenient. But ... the staff was very friendly and quite accommodating, there was coffee available 24/7 in the lobby, and I'd stay there again, as long as weather was going to be good.

"Perfect location; great rates; beach!"

12/09/2016

This was our second stay here, and the location can't be beat for being near shops, restaurants, and the island ferries. Nice beachfront property on Lake Huron. They do have memory foam mattresses which I hate because they really hurt my back, but my husband loves, so your mileage may vary. Clean room and decent free breakfast.

"A Wonderful Place to stay!!!"

10/09/2016

We stayed two nights in a Waterfront room (214). Checked in Labor Day and left Wednesday. Even though we were checking in on a Holiday, the check in process was fast and smooth and we were able to find a good parking space in a lot that was already crowded. Our room was really clean and let me tell you, I check. The sheets were white, the mattress was clean and the bathroom was spotless(kudos to the Housekeeping staff- you are soooooo important and the Maintenance staff- my husband and I observed you performing various duties). He really notices this due to the fact that he is involved in Maintenance and Facility Repair as well. We also noticed the Hotel Manager (Dave), routinely walking around inspecting (with his clipboard) and making himself available to guests and staff. Here are some specifics to our stay: Our air conditioning was Nice and Cold as well as our Refrigerator!!!! Our room had a wall mount, large flat screen TV (which we Loved!!!). The Location of the Hotel is first in a long line of Hotels, on the shoreline strip. It is closest and within walking distance to downtown (where everything is). Our balcony furniture (which I spent a lot of time in ) was clean and well maintained. So often when we travel the balcony gets missed- Not here!!!! There is a room on the 3rd floor that has 2 computers for guests to use (we used them a lot to check Weather). Also right outside our room were two of the prettiest trees, one was an Apple and the other had some type of fruit- they were trimmed and very pretty. To be picky, the only thing we noticed was the beachfront(which was nice), could use some raking(you know how you rake the beach longways, not sure how to describe other than a small tractor with a rake). Also some large, scattered rocks could be removed. But again, this is just "looking for improvement". Great Place to stay!!!!!

Overlooked going to be in area on a Friday night and delayed making reservation. By time I acted hotel prices had doubled. Wanted to stay at Best Western in St Ignace but it was full so took one in Mackinaw city.

"Excellent Hotel & Services"

09/09/2016

My wife and I were very pleased with this hotel and their services. They were very helpful throughout our stay. This hotel is right on the water in the harbor at Mackinaw City. Great location. Very close to excellent eating facilities and close to either shipping line to Mackinaw Island. Our suite was one of the finest we have ever experienced.

"Comfortable and reasonably priced"

08/09/2016

Our stay at the hotel was comfortable to say the least. The beds were super comfy and the rooms a good size. The shower also good. Staff all very helpful especially when we were locked out of our room! We didn't use the beach but it looked ok. The pool was a nice temperature, not too cold and whirlpool also not too hot. Pool could do with a bit of a repaint underwater. Breakfast limited but free so don't complain. Only scored it 4* due to slow WiFi and our room was very dark due to the location (atop the stairs - so no natural light). Hotel is also conveniently located for the star line ferry and downtown restaurant's etc.

"Great Experience"

08/09/2016

A great location and saved some money as a AAA member. Our view of the beach was amazing. The girls at the front desk were very helpful and an overall joy to speak with. The complementary breakfast well great as well. Will stay here again if we plan another trip to Mackinaw.

"Great Stay for the Labor Day Bridge Walk"

5
08/09/2016

We came to MI for the annual Labor Day walk over the Mackinaw Bridge. This hotel was a great choice. It was next to the state dock where the buses load for the trip across the bridge to begin the walk. But more than that the hotel is on the beach. We could sit on our private patio and see the water or leave the sliding door open and listen to the waves. Everything in town is within an easy walk from the hotel. The property was clean and comfortable.

"Clean and comfortable"

06/09/2016

If you look at the main photo of the hotel, it looks like there's a really nice beach. It's not. It was okay, but there were Canadian Geese pooping everywhere on the beach. Not the fault of the hotel, but not very enticing to walk there. ALL of the staff we interacted with were nice and helpful. The room was very clean and we had a great night's sleep.

"Nice hotel"

4
02/09/2016

Very nice hotel and the room was very clean with a nice view of the lake. The internet was very, very, slow at night and frustrating. The beds were nice, soft and clean but the mattress was worn on one side which made for a bad nights sleep. The breakfast was very cold and not very appealing but there is a Star Bucks across the street.

"NIce Updated, Clean Hotel Overlooking Lake, But a Few Detractions"

02/09/2016

We really enjoye this hotel, by and large, except for a few exceptions (see below). On the plus sside, the room was large and updated. It was what I would label as a modern mid-range hotel room. Nothing fancy, but very serviceable. The A/C was excellent. The view of the lake and shore was excellent. However, the beds were quite well worn, and the mattress leaned to one side, indicating plenty of wear. The Internet was a lost cause. I simply ceased attempting to do anything on the Internet due to the constant time-outs. My wife made sure that I was fully aware of this frustrating situation. Breakfast was miserable. Supposed a hot breakfast. Hmmm. Rubber sausage patties. Powdered scrambled eggs. And, of course, plenty of carbohydrates - breads, cereals and instant waffles. Even the coffee tasted inadequate. My recommendation is to not even plan on consuming what is labeled as breakfast food and go elsewhere. Who wants to start their day with this wretched food? So, overall, an OK room with a nice view and great A/C. Probably paid more than the room deserved, but it is what it is.

"Group trip"

02/09/2016

Our stay at this hotel was top notch from the manager Dave and all his staff both front desk and housekeeping we have no complaints..Our entire bus group had a wonderful time..Be sure to get a lakeview room...it was so nice

"Nice decor"

4
02/09/2016

The rooms were roomy and nicely decorated. Comfortable beds, nice pool and hot tub, good breakfast. Front desk clerks were not very friendly. Maybe they become like robots after dealing with so many people. The beach looked nice although we didn't have time to use it. A bit of noise from kids in the pool but otherwise ok.

"Good room - the rest needs a lot of attention"

2
01/09/2016

The room was nice but our lake view was more 50% lake and 50% parking lot..... acceptable but nothing more than that. Bed was very comfortable and room was large and comfortable. The breakfast was DREADFUL. We decided on this hotel/motel in favour of the others - even though it was double the price - mainly because we thought the standard would be better. That certainly did not extend to the check in or breakfast. Breakfast was in an acceptable room, but noisy, we had to clean our own tables, eggs were like rubber, biscuits and gravy had no taste, tined fruit, plastic cutlery that couldn't even cut a waffle without bending, paper plates - one to be missed!! Certainly the worst breakfast experience we have had in all our travels throughout USA in motels and hotels. All in all very disappointed and would certainly put me off another 'Best' Western. It's a shame - the bed was great!!! Wifi was ok but slow.

"Not great"

01/09/2016

This place is in need of some basic updates. The air conditioner unit was discharging smelly air, but since th temperature outside was comfortable we did not need to use it. Very eighties decor which is kinda cool for a throwback vibe or Trump suporters.

"Room was great, everything else was a little lacking..."

31/08/2016

I'd actually give this hotel a 3.5 rating. First, the positives: The room. We're a family of four and we ended up in a room on the 4th floor. The room was clean and more than spacious enough for all of us. We also had a balcony with a lovely view of the beach. Beds were comfy and since we were on the 4th floor, we slept with the balcony door open...(lovely breeze, the sound of the water, etc.). The room was nice - some reviewers were saying the decor was dated but to me it just felt more traditional. It was not old or shabby by any stretch. I would definitely stay here again for the room size alone. Now, for the negatives: The staff wasn't all that friendly. I saw in other reviews that people had a better experience with the staff. Maybe we were so late in the season that everyone was just tired of dealing with tourists or something. Upon check-in, the girl at the front desk was so unimpressed with having to deal with us it was like her brain was actually about to die. Also, the morning we were checking out - around 9:30, housekeeping kind of barged right into the room. She knocked twice quickly and came in before I could get to the door, then got really defensive saying "I knocked!". Yes, well, this is a big room and I couldn't make it to the door in the 2.6 seconds you gave me. She seemed confused as to whether we were checking out that day or not, and when I told her we were, she told me to "take our time". Uhh...okay, thanks? My kids loved the pool. I found the water to be too cold and over chlorinated, but they had a blast. The hot tub was nice, but the jets seemed to be having issues. Overall, the pool and pool area were clean and well maintained, although the towels were seriously like sandpaper. But biggest issue with the pool is that it doesn't open until 11:00am. Seriously? This just felt shady, like they wanted to keep the people who were on their check out day from using the facility one last time. Maybe this is a "thing" with all the hotels in that area, maybe they've figured out that people will leave faster if they can't use the pool...?No idea, but it sucks. If you're traveling with young kids who live for the pool, take note! My kids were NOT happy. The breakfast was okay, nothing special, what you usually get at the "breakfast included" hotel. Again, if you're traveling with young kids, take note - They serve breakfast on the 2nd floor above the lobby and there are no restrooms anywhere in sight. I know this seems like a nitpicky thing, however, if you're room is all the way on the other side of the hotel (as ours was) and your five year old suddenly has a DEFCON-1 bathroom situation, the ONLY bathroom available is the one in the pool area downstairs behind the lobby IF they have the door to the pool unlocked. Overall, we'd stay here again simply for the room. I do feel like they should emphasize when you check-in that you do not have use of the pool and hot tub on your check-out day. Just some extra tips for the area - Eat at the Keyhole Bar & Grill. By far the best and most economical meal we had there. There's a place just a few doors down from there with the BEST ice cream (The Sweet Spot, I think it was called...it had a big pink sign).

"Great Location"

29/08/2016

This hotel while a bit dated in the decor, was a real gem to find. It was close to everything and the rate was cheaper than we expected.! We were able to walk to the ferry for Mackinaw Island and had dinner just across the street. I would for sure stay here again!

"Clean, convenient, friendly staff"

27/08/2016

Really nice hotel for an overnight stay in the city before departing for the Island. It was conveniently located within walking distance of the main part of Mackinaw City. We had a room overlooking the water. The room was large and very clean. They have a nice beach area for guests in addition to an indoor pool and hot tub. The staff is excellent. They were so nice to let us check in a few hours early and were very helpful with directions. The free breakfast has plenty of options for everyone. Overall a great stay for a great price and a great location.

"Fantastic place !!"

25/08/2016

Great place to stay ! Very clean, very close to shops. Nice breakfast, pool was nice, whirl pool was not hot, but that was the only negative. Front desk, was so nice an helpful, to anything we asked.very large rooms, also. You won't be disappointed, honestly.

25/08/2016

We were pleased with this hotel. Our room was right on the beach and had a great view. Unfortunately, it got cold and rained while we were traveling so we weren't able to enjoy it, however, had the weather cooperated we certainly would have! The staff was nice. Our room was nice as well.

"Nice hotel"

24/08/2016

The hotel is very nice. I have stayed there several times over the last 4 summers. I have always been happy with my stays there. The included breakfast should have more choices. The staff is quite friendly and ready to answer any questions you may have. If you have any issues while there, they will take them seriously and fix the problem. I will return and stay next summer.

"Great location with a lovely beach"

24/08/2016

This hotel is in a great location within Mackinac City. The lobby is welcoming and front desk staff are friendly and professional. Several rooms offer fantastic lake views. Rooms are clean and nicely appointed. The little stretch of beach is very pretty and invites you to enjoy it.

"Reality - so, so place to stay given the price"

16/08/2016

We had a great view of the lake, you can't beat that. Beach is good, but not well maintained and is subject to the type of people staying there. Some upgrades to the hotel, but many more needed for an average $225 per night. We had leaky faucets and the chrome finish on fixtures was just about gone. Looks like carpeting and some outside building upgrades were recently done. We unfortunately couldn't enjoy our balcony due to a rude guest who barbecued on their patio (lowest level rooms are below grade) and when confronted by management when we complained, just moved out to the beach and did it there. My view of the lake included this guest bending over in the lake washing his grill out (I'm sure the kids playing in the lake loved walking into that). With an east wind, the smell of charcoal lighter fluid doesn't make for a nice evening and we got burned two nights in a row and couldn't enjoy our balcony. They should have been thrown out and that didn't occur and management was clearly told that. The price of their room must be more important than the price of this review. It is close to many areas to walk to, that is a plus and there are other hotels with the same setting. Breakfast in the morning Is pretty much a zoo, food is OK. Staff is very friendly, but again, should have taken a firmer approach to the people below us.

"Weekend Bike Trip to Mackinaw"

16/08/2016

Just want to say thanks to Dave the Manager and his very friendly staff. We stayed this past Friday & Saturday nights. Dave made sure we had safe parking for our Pick-Up Truck and Trailer along with Harley's. They were full both nights but everything was clean and quite. This will be the first place I call for next years trip. Thanks again for the great place to stay.

"Beautiful room, beautiful view!"

I stayed at Best Western Plus Dockside in Mackinaw City, Michigan on August 6th 2016. We have stayed here many times before and always come back! The room décor is great and the room and bathroom are always clean. The staff is friendly and helpful! The view from my room is an amazing view of Lake Huron! There is a beach with chairs and tables for guests. There is a breakfast with a variety of choices for the whole family! I recommend Best Western Plus Dockside in Mackinaw City, Michigan to anyone! I hope to be back in Mackinaw City next year and will definitely stay here again! Thank you!!!

"Excellent motel and location!"

5
13/08/2016

The motel and staff were first class and their location was within walking distance of most local attractions. You are a short walk(or a shuttle pickup at the front door) to the various ferry operators to Mackinac Island too! They have a nice continental breakfast with one of the bigger dining areas I've seen.

"OK"

12/08/2016

Can't beat the private beach which the kids loved. Steps from ferry line to Mack Island as well as downtown Mack City. So great location. Room was nicely furnished but not great, with comfortable beds and pretty up to date styling although some wear marks. One room suite was kind of cramped. Top floor so our beach side balcony was half the size of other floors, disappointing. Pool was fine. Free breakfast was your typical hotel free breakfast with the waffles and biscuits and gravy. Fine. Odd layout to get around with outdoorish hallways and quirky stairwells. Dated looking exterior. Big deal. Seemed like we paid too much for what we got, but loved the location.

"Room 215"

5
11/08/2016

What an amazing experience! Although this hotel is older, our room was beautiful. Clean, view of the water, pier and beach. Staff (especially reception area) were welcoming and so helpful. Breakfast is continental but had so much variety. Walking distance to the ferry and downtown area. Great vacation spot for all ages. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

"Great Location for Everything Mackinaw"

4
11/08/2016

This was a family vacation and we booked 4 rooms months in advance. Our room and another overlooked the courtyard parking lot. There was nothing wrong with this view. We could see the lake and downtown. The other two rooms upgraded to a lake view. We were very happy with our room. It had two queen beds and was roomy. There was a long low dresser that could accommodate two suitcases. It's not very often that my husband and I both can comfortably put our suitcases out. And there were lots of plugs. This hotel seemed to pay attention to some of the little things that others do not. The free breakfast was typical. A nice variety of items, but not quality food. We did not care for the coffee so we walked up town for a better cup of brew. Hotel was was within walking distance of ferry docks and uptown. We would definitely stay here again.

"Nice location, big tv...but that is all"

2
11/08/2016

This hotel has a lovely location, However, our patio was covered in spiderweb, sand and bird feathers. The room was very dated with the exception of the large flat screen....but the worst was the small square bed pillows and hard as a rock foam mattresses. Not at all what I would have expected in a $350.00 room.

"Always Our Place to Stay!"

5
09/08/2016

We visit Mackinaw at least once if not twice a year and this is our go to place to stay!!! The staff is excellent...pool is clean....and rooms are always clean too! Perfect location to the ferry docks, shops, and restaurants.

"Beautiful Hotel"

5
08/08/2016

Best Western Hotel is a very beautiful looking hotel right in the heart of a very busy Tourist Area. The rooms are very nicely decorated, clean and comfortable bed. The breakfast was very extensive and included everything you could possibly want. Right across the street starts shopping, mini-golf, and a very short walk to the Crosswinds Village which has many unique stores. The Village also hooks on to the downtown area. If you are wanting to go to Mackinac Island, the ferry boats are right next door. You can have the front desk call and they will send a shuttle for you. The hotel staff is very friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back.

"Standard Hotel"

3
08/08/2016

The hotel was a standard hotel, the rooms were average in size. Price wise this is a tourist area, so the rooms are around twice as much in price as is normal if not more so. There was nothing really wrong with this hotel, and location wise it was easy to get around town by walking. The price factor will make it so that we will look elsewhere.

"First visit, very pleased ."

5
07/08/2016

This was our first time to Mackinaw City and we were very please with our hotel choice. The room was very clean, the hotel was very quite and the beach was great. Very expensive but comparible to the other hotels. Definitely spend the extra to get a lake view.

"Great place for a family reunion!"

5
06/08/2016

We hosted a family reunion at this hotel and the facilities, hotel staff, location to local attractions were all excellent! We rented out their conference room, which was beautiful. A great place to hold an event! The manager, Dave, was fantastic!! Great hotel - clean, updated, and quiet. Pay the extra money for a beach view. Wonderful hotel!

"Great accommodations and location."

4
04/08/2016

Room was very spacious and clean. The balcony afforded a great view of the harbor and activities of the ferries going and coming from Mackinak Island. Shuttle to the ferry dock is available just for the asking.

"Will not stay here again"

2
04/08/2016

The hotel staff for the most part is pleasant but the hotel itself is run down, filthy, and the rooms are dated and dark. The furniture is so bulky and the tiles in the bathroom are moldy and coming off the wall. The room had a bad odor. The view of the beach was nice but the beach itself had trash on it and I felt it was neglected by staff. The breakfast is okay for a free breakfast but don't expect too much. I will not stay here again. I'm not sure why this hotel was rated so high compared to other mackinaw city hotels. I will stay at the Hamilton inn next time as it looked to be the best kept hotel in the area and a friend of mine stayed there and was pleased. I could not wait to leave the best western, it was not comfortable, is dated and filthy. There is also only one elevator for the entire hotel staff and guests which is very very inconvenient especially if you are staying of the 4th floor. Expensive for nothing hotel! Very disappointed in this hotel and happy I spent most of my time outside.

""Great Value, Location and Hospitality""

5
03/08/2016

We have stayed here several times on family vacations. We continue to enjoy the pleasant and accommodating staff, the very clean and pleasant rooms and the breakfast bar. The location is second to none. The Inn is located next to the Ferry Docks, and a short walk to downtown shops and restaurants. The pool area is well maintained and very enjoyable. The beach area is a bonus that isn't available in other motels. Charmaine was a great representative of the Motel.

"Convenient location"

4
30/07/2016

Very good hotel close to town, easy walk to restaurants, shops and ferries. Clean, comfortable room and excellent breakfast. Could use a second elevator, a larger parking lot and larger balcony overlooking the lake. Pool and hot tub were fine, didn't use the beach.

"Great Location"

4
28/07/2016

Stayed two nights in a standard room two queen beds for two adults and one teen. Great price for the area. We called the morning of our check in day. The location can't be beat. It is at the end of a long strip of hotels and is the closest to the ferry and shops. The grounds, lobby, common areas and room are clean but felt a little dated overall. I would stay here again if I returned to the area. The beach access was great!

"Summer Break from the Heat"

3
28/07/2016

Pros: Rooms are clean and the housekeepers are efficient. The location is right in the heart of town. The adjacent beach is quiet and peaceful. It is near the ferry. The beds were comfortable and the linens clean and crisp. Cons: The hotel's advertising is a bit deceptive in that the photos show balconies overlooking the lake, but when we arrived we were assigned to a room with absolutely no view. It was going to add $20 more a day for the rooms in the ad. The hotel is "stick built", so you can hear the noisy kids in the room above you. Breakfast was the usual stuff found in motels. Not sure why the place was rated so high.

"Family reunion stay"

27/07/2016

The location of best western is perfect..walked to the bridge each day...great shopping and resturants. All the rooms are clean and very roomy . The beds and pillows are very comfortable. All employees were very nice and helpful. We enjoyed the pool and area outside the pool. Also there is large breakfast dining room and large assortment of food to pick from. We enjoyed the water and the view and the beach . Loved all the chairs and loungers to accommodate everyone. We had a fabulous family reunion and will return to best western dockside.

"Great place"

5
27/07/2016

Loved the lake side room with patio steps up to beach. Watched boats leave for Mackinaw Island all day long. Indoor pool very nice. Breakfast excellent. Staff very friendly and helpful. Great place for kids and adults. Can watch kids swim and plan on beach while having cocktail on patio. Walking distance to Mackinaw City shopping and restaurants. Will definitely go back and perhaps take all the family

"Just above standard"

3
26/07/2016

Large hotel, good location, with its own beach on Lake Huron, close to I-75 and Mackinac Bridge. Ferries to Mackinac Island are in walking distance. Same goes for downtown Mackinaw City with plenty of restaurants and shops. Free parking available. Our room was spacious though relatively dark, overlooking the parking lot. Had all the standard interior, fridge but no room safe. Internet worked well. Has pool and fitness center, the gym itself below standard, no free weights, just treadmills and a stepper. And a strange cable fitness machine like from the Sixties. Standard free hot breakfast plus waffles, in separate breakfast area, was ok but with tasteless scrambled eggs and sausage, sour and hard fruit salad. No big deal. All in all a standard Best Western, though quite pricey.

"Quick overnight stay"

25/07/2016

We stopped here for a quick overnight stay. Very clean, friendly staff, beautiful views. Beach is nice, pool and hot tub area was decent. Nice continental breakfast. Great location, close to downtown. Adequate parking (we were pulling a boat). Would definitely stay here again.

"Great location!"

24/07/2016

Had a lakeside room and the view was fantastic. Watched the Island Ferries come and go, parasailers all day and a great sunrise! Breakfast was all we could ask for. Room was clean and the desk was great for my laptop to keep up on the latest.

Clean and well maintained. Mattress was very comfortable. Near the downtown area. Secure place to leave bikes overnight was really helpful. Good breakfast with lots of choices. Friendly helpful staff.

"Good Hotel"

4
19/07/2016

Stayed here for two nights over the 4th of July holiday, and we got a really good rate through the Mackinaw City website. The front desk staff were nice and friendly. The room was clean. We had a beachfront room with a balcony, which was okay. Breakfast was typical hotel breakfast. The location is fantastic - within walking distance to the ferries, the bridge, downtown. It's in the middle of everything. Considering the price, it was a good deal, especially since it was a holiday weekend.

"Clean with full breakfast"

4
17/07/2016

We stayed one night before heading to Mackinac Island for a week. We had a suite with 2 queens and a king in a separate room. Unfortunately there was no ventilation in the separate bedroom so even with the door open and the a/c cranked to high it got warm and stuffy in there. Other than that, the rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. Plenty of plugs for all your gadgets. Full breakfast was typical for the area, waffle maker, scrambled eggs, sausage, and biscuits & gravy were the hot items. Tasted fine but nothing special. Staff at checkin and checkout were friendly and courteous. I would consider staying here again but probably not in a suite.

"Bike Trip"

Hotel lives up to its ratings. Nice, clean and staff was friendly and accommodating. The pool could use some adult time. We got chased out by too many kids and little adult supervision. The beach was nice.

Thanks to Michael Gofourth we stayed at the Best Western Plus this hotel is so amazing it has a great view and an outstanding beach the kids loved it. We would definitely choose to stay here again upon returning to Mackinac City. The location was wonderful - walking distance to shops and restaurants, and on the water. Staff was friendly and helpful. Used the fitness room which was adequate, as well as the breakfast. The rate was very reasonable for a tourist town, especially for the location - on the water. A very pleasant stay and I would highly recommend to others.

"Nice setting by Lake Huron"

Getting a room facing the lake is worth the extra money, especially on July 4, as the fireworks go over the lake and you have a front view from your balcony. Location is convenient to the various attractions including the ferry to Mackinac Island for which they sell discounted tickets.

Stopped along the way to the Michigan upper peninsula and stayed at the Best Western Plus Dockside Waterfront Inn, Mackinaw City MI. Good location. Nice lake view. Courteous and helpful staff. Good price.

We were traveling in Northern Michigan, following the coast, stopping in different towns every night. We did not have a reservation when we arrived at Mackinaw City. Dave and his excellent staff were able to accommodate us. When we decided we wanted to stay 3 nights, they worked very hard and were able to give us a lakeside room for all 3 nights. The staff at this place was excellent. 2 thumbs up!!

"A nice stop..."

We stay here at least once a year...the reservation process was much smoother this year so seems like new management maybe...last year , we were enroute to this destination and they tried to call our home to confirm we were coming..we weren't home! Someone ahead of us in the lobby trying to check in, had their room given to someone else...not a pretty sight...I made sure to give our cell phone this year but received an email the day before our arrival asking for any changes to be made then...so, seemed like they made a change...also, the front desk clerk who checked us in, offered his assistance on where to park our vehicle with boat and trailer...even walked outside with us and directed us...very helpful. Rooms are comfy, amenities adequate...the only complaint I would have is the constant humming of the dehumidifier in the room... They offer a decent hot breakfast buffet as well... We will stay here again I am sure due to the location and comfortable rooms.

"Great Location"

06/07/2016

I stayed for 2 nights with my 2 daughters. The room was clean and beds were comfortable. The hotel location was walking distance to the local shops and ferries. The front desk staff were very helpful during our stay. Breakfast was good. Small beach was nice also. The room charge included passes to 3 indoor waterparks off site. We visited one of them and was not impressed. It was not clean, had bugs in the water and trash around the side. Overall our stay at the Best Western was enjoyable and we would stay here again and recommend to others.

Fairly clean room, dirty grout in bathroom. Front desk all Jamacain and not very helpful as far as local sightseeing goes. Nice pool and hot tub.Convenient walking location to shopping and the ferry. Don't bother with free waterparks unless children very small.

Room 405 Balcony with view of the lake. Kerry completed our reservation timely and gave us a personal tour of the room. She made a personal call to our room to ensure the commendations exceeded our expectations. Kerry also suggested and provided our discounted ferry ride tickets to the Island. The daily continental breakfast was delicious and fresh. The room was kept clean with fresh linens provided everyday. The balcony view of the lake and dockside were an added plus. Thank you Kerry and staff!

Hotel seems overpriced. Reading other reviews tells me that we were lucky to have a room. The included "free hot breakfast" is bland, reheated precooked mass produced stuff. But if you stick to bananas, toast, milk, and coffee it's OK. Having a balcony to look out was very nice. Moonrise was beautiful on the calm lake. Bring a big fan, the AC never gets cold. Place was clean but kinda sandy from the beach. Housekeepers worked very hard.

"Good place to stay."

We attended with a coach tour and they handled luggage in and out for us. Rooms were great and the beds were comfortable. One of my best sleep experiences. Breakfast was very good and handled our numbers nicely.

Very clean, attentive and helpful staff. Cleaness pool and hot tub we have been in!!! Excellent hot/cold breakfast, lots of variety. Beach is clean with lots of areas to gather and lounge chairs. We had a waterfront room on the main floor..which was nice but wanted one on a higher floor....no problem..we were moved the next morning. Great location...walked to all the attractions and resturants and to the waterfront by the bridge.

"Great Time!!!"

22/06/2016

My daughter and I had a great time we enjoyed the beach, pool, hot tub and complementary breakfast. The staff was polite, prompt and accommodating. Our hotel room was very nice, had a lakefront view on the first level and not only did the door wall open to a nice patio with a table and two chairs but it also had a few stairs to walk up and you're on the beach with a lake view; just beautiful and soooo relaxing. I've stayed at this hotel 3 times in the past seven years and it just gets better and better. Thank you everyone for making our stay outstanding and a special thanks to Charmaine. Ms. Taylor

"Great location"

21/06/2016

This hotel is within walking distance to almost everything you would want to see, even the ferries to the island. We got an early check in and they even let us keep the car in the parking lot after check out to make a quick trip downtown. Our room was beach level and you could walk right out to the beach. I will be Back for sure.

20/06/2016

Good location, very close to town. Staff was very accommodating and pleasant to deal with. We had a lakeside room with balcony. The room was clean and well kept. Breakfast was the standard fare, with a very large room that accommodate many people. This hotel is heavily used, but the management does an excellent job, covering all of the bases.

"Can we move in permanently?"

5
20/06/2016

We were given a choice of what level to stay on. Naturally we chose ground floor with access to the beach from our private patio. Had a great time. If/when we return to this area, this would be our first choice in hotels.

"David - Front Desk Assistance"

19/06/2016

I recently made two reservations for this coming October. I travel for living Globally and the young man David at the front desk was so accommodating and courtesy that I felt he went beyond in trying and get accommodate all by request. I congratulate David and the hotel for employing such a dedicated employee.

Great service, clean rooms, comfy beds, phenomenal breakfast, clean and refreshing pool and hot tub. Perfect stay! Check-in was super quick & staff makes you feel wanted there when you're checking out. "Awh, you're leaving us?!"

"Bike Ride across Mackinaw Bridge"

5
15/06/2016

My stay at the Best Western was truly a wonderful blessing due to the amazing Manager, Dave. I drove 5 hours from the Detroit area for the Big Mac bike tour and was very excited about the second day of the ride which was crossing over the Mackinaw Bridge. At about 8:30pm, the night before the bridge ride, I noticed that I had a flat tire. I am embarrassed to admit that I had no spare inner tube and no idea how to fix a flat. Since there is no bike shop in Mackinaw City, I asked Dave for advice. Dave was patient, kind and resourceful as he suggested that I drive to the Walmart in Cheboygan to purchase an inner tube. When I explained that I didn't know how to fix my tire, Dave immediately offered to fix it for me. I asked when Dave was done working which was at 10pm. Dave offered to stay later if I wasn't back in time with the inner tube. Dave ended up working on my bike for over an hour. I inadvertently purchased the wrong inner tube which caused several complications. Dave worked on my bike for over an hour, until 10:45pm. If I hadn't stayed at the Best Western, I'm certain that I would not have been able to successfully cross the bridge the next day. In addition to the amazing service that I received from the management , the rooms were spacious, clean and the breakfast buffet was very good. I highly recommend this Best Western and will certainly stay there again!!!:)

"Two night stay"

4
11/06/2016

My family stayed here for two nights. We had a good room in the first floor facing the water. It was a great location, because we could walk right out to the beach...the water was only about 40 feet from our door. The rooms were typical for a Best Western. We were underwhelmed by the breakfast and the next day we went across the street to eat. It has a great location, within walking distance of many restaurants, attractions and stores. We were able to buy ferry tickets here at a little bit of a discount, which was helpful too.

"Could have been better"

3
11/06/2016

Ala very crowd hotel. Staff could have a better attitude towards guests checking in and be more welcoming. Rooms are ok, normal size and an advantage if you het the jacuzzi king, which is good. The best overall is location. Walkable distance to downtown and beachfront. Recommend but would let management know to train their staff to have a friendlier behavior with guests.

"A Hidden Gem! "

4
11/06/2016

This hotel is a little older, but our family really liked it. The pool and hot tub were great. The rooms are clean and the beds are great. The hotel front desk crew (Kerry) made us feel warm and welcomed! We will go back. The hotel is centrally located to shops and restaurants.

"Great place"

5
10/06/2016

This is a very nice place to stay. Right on the beach so you can swim in the lake. Rooms were clean and comfortable. The Jacuzzi was very relaxing. Breakfast bar offered many choices. It is close to ferry service to the island. We will return.

"Not one of the better Best Western ' s we've stayed in"

3
09/06/2016

The best thing about this hotel is you can get the cheapest ferry tickets to cross to the Island. The check-in was brusque at best. I asked to be sure I got my extra points as I'm a Diamond member and about got my head bit off. The breakfast was disappointing and had no bacon - what's breakfast without bacon? It was a comfortable room but not sure I'd stay here, again.

"Expensive lodging- poor experience"

3
09/06/2016

Facility is impressive in appearance , but falls short on performance. Breakfest was maginal in options and in quality of taste and appearance in compared to most BW plus establishments. The in room heater/ AC was terribly noise that could only be stopped by turning down or off. Management made no effort to fix, but rather that you didn't use it.

"Relaxing start to a vacation"

4
07/06/2016

We stayed here for 3 nights just before Memorial Day weekend. It was wonderful. No crowds. 10 cars in the parking lot. Our room was right on the beach, altho too cold to go swimming. The geese greeted us one morning outside our door. The atmosphere was so relaxing. We walked to the ferry terminal. Our last night here was the start of the holiday weekend, and the parking lot was full. If we have anything negative to say it would be about the beds. They are kind of droopy and Need replacing.

"Average stay"

3
06/06/2016

Check in was fine, but the three people working at 930pm spent more time talking to each other than getting me checked in. The room was clean and comfortable. The one elevator was very far from my room. Locating vending areas was a chore because they weren't adequately mapped. I wasn't aware until I arrived there was no smoking on the premises, so I smoked in my truck, which is fine but that would have been nice to know. Getting to the pool was difficult because no maps or signage. Breakfast was good. Overall it wasn't terrible but I won't stay again.

"Quick trip to the UP - was pleased!!"

06/06/2016

I didn't know what to expect with the somewhat mixed reviews. Upon arrival (11AM) we assumed our room wasn't ready. At the time, we had a courtside room. They said we could upgrade for 20.00 to a lake view. We accepted. Still thought our room wasn't ready, but about 5 minutes later, the front desk woman brought us our keys. She was SUPER friendly and personable. Not sure of her name though. Got to our room, unpacked and headed out for the day. Nice that they offer a shuttle to/from the ferry service. We took Shepler's, as the more expensive on is a 45 minute ride and I have a one year old. That was also helpful that she was knowledgeable about the things going on around the city/island. The hotel was clean and very accommodating. Nice pool and hot tub! Would stay here again, very centrally located and great breakfast with many choices!!

"Calming"

5
06/06/2016

This was towards the beginning of a week long trip. Had made reservations about a week ahead and requested a room facing the lake (best on the 2nd or 3rd floor). It was a clean, relaxing stay. Loved to hear the lake's waves during the night, relaxing. We had a balcony and got a number of pictures of boats and birds. I get up earlier than my family and it was nice to just sit on the balcony and relax before a busy sightseeing day.

"Very friendly"

5
05/06/2016

This was a very pretty hotel. We had a room looking onto the lake and the view was fantastic. Every one on the staff was so helpful and very, very friendly throughout our stay. They couldn't do enough for us and were very attentive. The complimentary breakfast was good and there was plenty of choices.

"BW Dockside Mackinaw City - great stay"

5
02/06/2016

We stayed one night at the BW Dockside in Mackinaw City on our way to spending a few nights at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island. The value and quality of the room were excellent. The breakfast was good but quite standard for most hotels. We had a lake view room which was a huge plus. The only (somewhat) negative was the room was quite dark.

"Great stay in Mackinaw City"

4
02/06/2016

Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The free breakfast was good and the breakfast room was clean and well attended by staff. The location was great, room was right on the water and we enjoyed the view. We would return to this hotel again.

"Excellent!"

5
02/06/2016

After we checked in, we went up to our room only to discover that it had not been cleaned at all. The bed was all messed up, towels were everywhere, and the trash was not emptied. It looked as if someone has JUST checked out. I called the front desk from the room and reported the issue. The lady at the front desk asked me to hold a moment... When she came back on the line, she asked me if a room with only one bed was alright. I would have been satisfied if they would have just offered to clean the room, but I said yes, and she proceeded to tell me that she would be happy to accommodate us and move us into a room with a king size bed and a jetted tub. A gentleman (manager maybe?) brought us the new room keys and told us where the room was. When we arrived.. WOW! It looked like a honeymoon suite! Gorgeous! And all for the same price we would have paid for our original room! I would stay here again in a heartbeat, and will absolutely recommend it to friends and family! Thank you BWPlus!

"Love this hotel!"

01/06/2016

Great value, friendly staff, convenient to downtown Mackinaw City, lovely room (balcony, lakefront), excellent breakfast. We were there before Memorial Day. The weather was beautiful, and there were no crowds.

"One of the Nicer hotels in Mackinaw City"

5
31/05/2016

Friendly Staff, good effort made to keep the property clean, the 6 year old we took did not want to leave. Breakfast was decent. We have stayed at 50% of the hotels in Mackinaw City and this is one of the ones we would go back to. One of the best locations in the city.

"Big rooms and free breakfast"

5
30/05/2016

We really enjoyed our stay here with our family. The two bedroom suites were perfect for kids in one room and adults in the other with a pullout couch area plus small entry way in between. Very clean. Pool and hot tub were great. Free breakfast included had a lot of options, though crowded. I was just very impressed for the prices we paid for the rooms. We had a few minor things we had to call the front desk for and they were very responsive, especially Dave! :) We will happily come back here to stay when visiting the area- so much better than the exorbitant rates they charge for extra tiny rooms on Mackinac Island itself!

"Misrepresented"

2
29/05/2016

Disappointed with this place! Not at all like the Web pictures. Looks like you are on the lake but our room was on the interior, dark, outdated, and musty smell! Had reservations months in advance thinking it had a view!!!! No way could you see the water, it was under the stairwell. Had young children running around at 4:00 A.M. What are they doing up at that hour? Then the Mother screams at them and slams the door! Obviously NO SLEEP that night! Only nice thing, it was centrally located.

"Over Rated Hotel"

3
29/05/2016

Pick this hotel from a web site. Not the best choice. The building is very old and although building maintenance is being done, it is not up to date. Key pad to rooms is the insert card type and that style has been around since the 70's. Not the best. Room furnishings is from the 60's and most rooms do not have a view. The complex needs torn down and replaced by a more modern high rise style. I can't recommend staying here, even though the price is fair.

"Awesome Stay"

5
26/05/2016

Wow, for the price, all i can day is wow. My girlfriend and I came up for a romantic visit and everything was fantastic. From the nice lady at the desk, to the Manager Dave, to the very nice hotel maids, the entire experience was absolutely heart-warming. Thank you, Best Western of Mackinaw City. And just look at the view from the room!

"Dark, Dirty, Unfriendly"

2
26/05/2016

We stayed here for one night as we were arriving in town in the evening and heading to the island for the rest of our trip the following day. My husband picked this hotel due to its high rating. While on our 6+ drive we kept getting phone calls from the hotel wanting to know if we were still coming. Mind you it's not like we were arriving really late, we probably arrived around 4 or 5pm. We were on the road and not in a place to be on the phone and they kept calling; odd. All interactions with any staff, including the manager, were unpleasant and not friendly at all. Due to that alone I would not recommend this hotel. Grumpy, rude, and act like you are an annoyance simply by checking in or out or asking a basic question. The room was dark and stale smelling, felt dirty and had mold in the bathroom. At the time I did not remove the sheets or pillowcases to check the mattresses and pillows but I now wonder what I would have found if I had, ew. Anyways I would not stay here again even if I was offered a free night and I wouldn't let my family or friends either. Pay more and stay on the island instead. Or stay on St Ignace if necessary. I don't know how this place has such high reviews and neither does my husband.

"Mackinaw City, Best Western Plus"

5
26/05/2016

While traveling over the U.S. we stay at Best Western, I know what to expect, which is good. Mackinaw City Best Western Plus is no exception. Check in was effortless the room was comfortable and check out was easy. People went out of their way to help.

"Nice place"

5
26/05/2016

Very happy with the hotel and staff. The only downside was our room on the second floor opened out to the pool, on the main floor, which made it very dark in the room. Breakfast was great, and I would highly recommend this hotel.

"Caution if you have mobility issues."

4
25/05/2016

The staff was great. The rooms were very nice and a good value for the money. However, the hotel has 2 wings and they are not at the same level. They only have on elevator and there are ramps that need to be used to access offset levels. We were in the wing facing the lake and that meant ramps up and down to get to the breakfast area.

"Great stay and a convenient location."

5
24/05/2016

Great breakfast and pool / hot tub room. Rooms are well setup, clean and comfortable. We have stayed at the Best Western Dockside several years in a row for the Zoo-de-mack bike ride and have never been disappointed.

"Housekeeping"

4
23/05/2016

I would rate this hotel higher had I not been treated rather rudely by one of the housekeeping employees. Only one, I must emphasize! Most were kind and very accommodating. The day we checked out, I was returning to my room after breakfast when I ran into the housekeeper. She commented to me "Oh, you're still here." It was 9:30 in the morning! (check-out is 11am). Later, after my friends returned to the room to pack up, the housekeeper opened our door. We told her we were packing up to leave She gave us a disgusted look and rolled her eyes at us. Really?!!! It still was not even close to being 11 am! Why tell your guests that check out is 11 am when you have your employees applying pressure for us to get out well before then? Funny thing, Housekeeping left a note on the nightstand asking for a tip with the added quote "God Bless". I would normally leave a little something but this time the only tip I left was, "Don't be RUDE to the customer!"

"Always a great stay at the Best Western Dockside"

5
23/05/2016

We stay here twice a year, spring and fall. We always enjoy our stay here, close to the crossings and the Breakfast buffet never lets us down. The pool is always clean and the staff is very friendly. Our best deals have always been over the intrnet.

"Great Overnight Stay"

4
22/05/2016

This is a very nice inn.Our room was on the lower floor steps away from the water. The room was very clean and tidy. The beds were comfortable. I will stay here again if I come this way. We were given coupons to use at nearby resturants and stores. This inn is only a few blocks from main street Mackinaw City.

"Michigan stay"

5
21/05/2016

This is a beautiful hotel. The location is perfect and it's easy to get to the ferry to Mackinaw Island. The staff was very friendly and helpful with directions and places to eat. Janet and Marie made our room clean and provided everything we needed. Breakfast was excellent, with several choices and the hostess was very friendly. The weather was cold during our stay so we definitely want to come back to visit the area and when we do will stay here.

"Dependable"

5
21/05/2016

Great location for choice of ferries. Nice to see the lake from our 2nd story sliding glass door. Staff was helpful and polite. We can always depend on Best Western for top quality and comfortable beds.

"Worth a Visit"

4
19/05/2016

If you're going to visit the island, or maybe the fudge shops in the city as you're getting ready to travel over the great Mackinaw Bridge and explore St. Ignace or Pictured Rocks...this is a nice place to plant your feet for a night or two. It's on the southern end of town and there's no view of the bridge but it's on the water, it's clean and comfortable with spacious rooms, reasonably priced and friendly staff. There's a nice mom-n-pop restaurant across the street and you're within less than a 5-min walk to the main drag.

"Stay Here!"

5
15/05/2016

Great location, within walking distance of shops and right on the beach. People at the front desk were friendly and accommodating. I needed a screw driver, and Dave the manager provided one. Rooms are clean and neat. Great pool and hot tub area.

"Great Hotel"

5
15/05/2016

With not knowing where to stay in a city we never stayed in before I read the online reviews. They were so correct, the hotel was an excellent choice. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff professional and available. The location was excellent.

"Well appointed"

5
30/04/2016

Mackinaw City is well worth a visit and this is an excellent place to stay while doing so. The rooms are very well appointed though the coffee machine, fridge and jacuzzi timer are a bit hidden away. There is a very spacious feel, helped by the original spaciousness of the village when originally planned, close to various attractions. The breakfast room islight and spacious with a view over the adjacent park and waterfront. Roomkey attracts a discount at various restaurants.

"Nice place."

5
14/02/2016

Stayed here in July of 2012. Very clean and modern rooms. Within reasonable walking distance of many attractions in Mackinaw City. Excellent waterfront view. I've stayed in a few hotels in this area but this is one of the nicer ones.

"Best Western/Hamilton"

5
31/01/2016

"The staff was friendly and service was great. The room was clean and ours provided an excellent view." We chose a lake view in winter and our beachfront, lake view room provided the view we looked for plus great sunsets and sunrises glistening off the ice and water.

"Okay hotel, outstanding area!"

3
07/01/2016

The hotel was not up to usual Best Western standards, kind of plain, breakfast was awful. It was clean and relatively quiet. The location, however, is great. This is one of the most beautiful areas in the country, and I have traveled constantly the last several years. The weather is perfect in the summer if you don't like extreme heat, which my husband doesn't. It is a hunter/fisherman's paradise. I don't recommend the food anywhere, unless you like fudge and ice cream.

"Decent place to stay, if you get a good price"

3
08/12/2015

Because of my Diamond status, I received an upgrade to Jacuzzi room, which was very clean (and it is not that easy for it in Mackinaw City hotels, believe me!) and had good quality furniture. Staff was OK, but they tried to have me pay higher price than what I reserved - so have your reservation with you in print, just in case... Breakfast a very typical (poorer) quality like for a cheaper hotel, but the view from the eatery windows was great!

"an excellent hotel with a nice view"

5
12/11/2015

We stayed here at the end of October(23,24th) and were happy with our room. Clean and in nice shape. large breakfast area in the morning. great location to downtown. staff was very friendly. We will definitely be putting this at the top of our places to stay as we visit a few times every year.

"Nice room - disappointing breakfast."

4
28/10/2015

We had a lakefront room on the main floor. It was quiet even tough the hotel seemed to be sold out. Beds & pillows were great! The breakfast the next morning was just okay. The coffee was horrible. I should have just made toast. Staff was friendly even with being very busy upon check in.

"HORRIBLE MANAGER!"

1
28/10/2015

I've read many Trip Advisor reviews throughout the years and depend on ratings and traveller reviews to plan my vacations, like many do. My spouse and I were excited to visit Mackinaw City for a week and enjoy our end of summer vacation. We booked our reservation with the Best Western Dockside Inn back in May of 2015, anticipating our vacation for the end of August. After a 7 hour road trip to Mackinaw City, we arrived at the Best Western. Upon arrival, the woman at the front desk notified us that we did not have a reservation and that the hotel was full. After showing her our confirmed reservation, she persisted that we were wrong and we'd have to find other accommodations. Shortly after, another, more helpful woman found our reservation and told us that they tried calling us because of a credit card problem (which was false on both accounts). Not only did we not receive any phone calls, but they gave our room away, which was quite frustrating. Tired and frustrated, we asked to speak with the manager, Anna, who was conveniently not there. After finding alternative accommodations, we went back to the Best Western to speak with Anna, who again was not professional at all. After keeping us waiting in the lobby for over 20 minutes, Anna came out and began loudly blaming us in front of several other guests. She did not take any responsibility for the mix up, and made us feel humiliated for something that was not our fault. Instead of calmly resolving the mishap like we had suggested, Anna yelled at us for several minutes, continually blaming us for everything. At this point, feeling like we were getting nowhere and exhausted, we decided to calmly ask Anna for her full name and the name of the woman at the front desk who treated us very rudely. Our intention was a file a complaint with Best Western and find a better resolution that Anna was not willing to provide. After asking her for the names, she then very loudly threatened to call the police on us! My spouse, being a Police Officer himself, was particularly offended by this threat. Not only was this ridiculous, but she completely embarrassed herself. Her lack of customer service was absolutely horrific and distasteful. Honestly, my spouse and I aren't even certain how someone like Anna was even hired to work as a manager. Her actions towards us were disgusting. I would NEVER recommend staying at this hotel. Being an a avid traveller, I have become accustomed to good customer service, which is something we did not receive at the Best Western Dockside Inn. Anna was completely unprofessional and should never work somewhere where she utilizes communication with others.

"Homecoming"

28/10/2015

This is the third year in a row that we have chosen this hotel for our Fall trip, and once again we were VERY pleased with our accommodations! The room we were given was clean and comforting. The breakfast bar had many choices, and the hours were such that even my wife, who likes to sleep in, was able to enjoy the breakfast.

"Outstanding value during late season"

5
27/10/2015

Some of the motels in Mackinaw City are closed in October, but the BW is open and is CHEAP for a 4+ star motel. Room rates are about $59-$79 and full hot breakfast is included. Motel is within walking distance to all boats and downtown.

"Highly recommend"

5
24/10/2015

My husband and I highly recommend this hotel. The room was great - large with a beautiful view of Lake Huron. Bed and pillows were very comfortable, housekeeping very detailed. Good internet reception in room. Front desk was friendly and informative. We will stay here again on our next trip to Mackinaw City.

"Fabulous fall visit!"

5
24/10/2015

So many excellent features at a great price! Our first fall trip there as we usually go in the summer. Room was amazing with a spectacular view. Never had to notify the office of any concerns. Breakfast bar had something for everyone and was always stocked. Staff keep breakfast room clean and organized. Pool and hot tub very clean and towels always available. Loved having hot water in the lobby so I could have mine nightly tea. Close to ferry and downtown area. We always walked! Highly recommend.

My wife and I were very impressed with the room and the beds that we had at the price we were able to get it for. I would stay here again but I would do it in the summer instead of the fall as the breakfast room was too cold. Other than that the breakfast was good.

We have been going to Mackinaw for a few days at a time for about ten years and now primarily go in the fall. Cannot beat the price, location and cleanliness of the Best Western Dockside in Mackinaw. We switched to the Best Western about 3 years ago. The heater was awesome as the temperature dropped to below 40 degrees. The pool/hot tub area was warm and clean. The lakeside room has a terrific view and was spotless. Just make sure if you check online for rates first and are a AAA member, that you write the price down when calling. This year when I first made reservations, the person quoted me a price and after asking about AAA, she claimed it was the AAA rate. Why would she have given me the AAA rate already without my saying? So, I had to call back after re-checking the website and another person gave me the proper rate without question. That made me a little suspicious, but the problem was solved and I like the hotel too much to make it a reason not to go back.

My husband and I highly recommend this hotel. The room was great - large with a beautiful view of Lake Huron. Bed and pillows were very comfortable, housekeeping very detailed. Front desk was friendly and informative. We will stay here again on our next trip to Mackinaw City.

"Nice facility in a great location"

Nice hotel right on whe water. All rooms have balconies or patios. About a 4 block walk to the central tourist area of Mackinaw City full of restaurants, shops, and bars. All rooms open to an outside corridor not an indoor hallway. This can make the walk to the indoor pool interesting when the temperature drops into the 30's as it did the night of our stay. Be forewarned. Breakfast fare is the standard stuff: scrambled eggs, waffle maker, yogurt, bagels, etc. Breakfast area is probably the best I have ever experienced. Very open and roomy located on the 3rd floor above the lobby. Overall a good choice.

We were lucky enough to stay here before they raised the prices for end of season and weekend. We paid $99 (tax included) for a jacuzzi king Courtside room and the room was great. The decor and TV were nice and the jacuzzi was awesome! The room was very clean and quiet and the bed (memory foam) was quite comfortable. The staff wasn't very customer oriented... I tried to ask a question or two and they were constantly interrupting me. I would encourage this hotel to train their employees because if they were good, they would get more 5 star reviews! We did not use the pool or have breakfast, but wheat we did experience was great.

"Basic hotel, but room cleanliness needs some work"

I stayed for one night in October 2015 with a group. The property appeared well-run, although the lobby staff seemed to have some communication challenges. The price was fair, and the hotel is well-located. Rooms were just basic, but ours had an unpleasant smell. The bedding particularly had a strong and irritating odor, perhaps some disinfectant? Sleeping was difficult due to the overpowering smell. Breakfast was surprising well-done and pleasant. Overall, I would not stay there again, considering much better hotels in the area.

I have stayed here a few times over the last few years.. I really enjoy and love this hotel.. Very friendly people working at this hotel. Beach area is very nice. Food is good.. Beds are nice. I really appreciate the fact that once due to illness I had to cancel a reservation and the staff treated me very kind and understanding. I will come back to this hotel as many times as I come and bring my family to Mackinaw City.

We enjoyed the Best Western for a one night stay. We didn't use any of the amenities except the breakfast that was part of the price. The breakfast was nice. The rooms were very nicely decorated and pleasant. We didn't do much other than sleep because we had come in late and had to leave early. But everything looked very nice for an extended stay.

Great Hotel. Walking distance to everything. Ferry to Mackinac Island is located right next door to the hotel. You can purchase tickets to the ferry which includes a discount, right at the hotel. There is a large beach front with lounge chairs. The Staff were very professional. Full hot breakfast is included.Loved our stay. We will definitely stay here again.

The price was right and staff was very helpful and pleasant. The room was clean and well kept and the bed was amazingly comfortable! The location was perfect for walking to area attractions and great choice of restaurants. The breakfast included an excellent variety of hot AND cold foods, some healthy for health conscious people. Will definitely stay here again.
