This is a former Quality Inn, upgraded to a BW+. The experience here was much better than the proverbial sum of its parts, mostly do to a charismatic and attentive staff and a superb location. Rooms were clean, cool, and big enough. Breakfast was standard BW+ fare but attended by a gregarious supervisor who engaged everyone in his dining room. Shout-outs to everyone who staffed the front desk from 12-17 July. The building has seen better days (a water pipe broke during out stay), and could use some care, but the staff struggles mightily to keep it up. Accessible via Route 1 in both N and S directions, so everything in the area (including I-95) is within easy reach. As an added bonus, a very nice neighborhood pub/Mexican grill is right behind the property. I would stay here again.
Thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed review and for rating your stay a 4/5. We're delighted to hear that our charismatic and attentive staff, along with our superb location, helped make your experience better than expected. It's wonderful to know you enjoyed the clean and comfortable rooms, the pool area, and the breakfast—our breakfast supervisor will be thrilled to hear your kind words. We also appreciate the shout‑outs to our front desk team during your stay from July 12–17. We're sorry for the inconvenience caused by the unexpected water pipe issue. While the building has certainly seen its share of years, our team works hard every day to keep everything running smoothly and to provide the best possible experience for our guests. We're glad you found the property easy to access from Route 1 and close to everything in the area, including I‑95. And we agree—the neighborhood pub and Mexican grill behind the hotel is a great bonus. Thank you again for your feedback and for choosing to stay with us. We're happy to hear you would stay with us again, and we look forward to welcoming you back.
I was greeted by 2 big black bugs after entering the room and turning on the lights. If you don't like bugs you should definitely avoid here.
Thank you for sharing your feedback. I'm very sorry to hear that you encountered two bugs upon entering your room — we understand how unsettling that can be, and this is not the experience we want for any guest. I reviewed the room in question, including the pest‑monitoring devices we keep in every guest room as part of our preventative program, and everything was clear at the time of inspection. The room had also undergone a full General Manager room‑condition check that same morning, followed by verification from our Housekeeping Manager before it was released for arrival. In addition, this room recently received a scheduled deep clean as part of our maintenance cycle. While occasional pests can enter as hitchhikers on luggage during travel — something that can happen at any hotel — we take all reports seriously. Your comments have been shared with our housekeeping and maintenance teams along with our 3rd party pest control company so we can continue to monitor and ensure our high standards are upheld. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention, and we hope you'll consider giving us another opportunity to provide the comfortable stay we are known for as Laurel's #1 hotel for three years running, as rated by BizRate.
Clean and efficient, without a single frill
Thank you for your 4–5 rating. We're glad to hear you found the property clean and efficient. While we focus on providing a comfortable, well‑maintained stay, we understand that some guests look for additional frills—but there's no need to miss out, as we include many great amenities with your stay. These include free parking, daily housekeeping (upon request), complimentary breakfast and internet, a fitness center, our newest addition—the Espresso Bar serving espresso, lattes, cappuccinos, and everyone's favorite hot chocolate—and don't forget our EV charging station for electric vehicles. Your feedback is appreciated, and we hope to welcome you back for an even better experience next time.
We'd recommend a stay here. Everything was clean and in working order. The breakfast was excellent with many options. My husband was sad the waffles were pre-made, but that was our only gripe.
Thank you for your 4/5 rating and for taking the time to share your feedback. We're delighted to hear that you found everything clean, in good working order, and that you enjoyed our breakfast selections. It's wonderful to know that you would recommend staying with us—your confidence means a great deal to our team. We appreciate your comment about the waffles. Your husband isn't alone—many guests love fresh‑made waffles, and we understand the disappointment. The good news is that waffles may be making a comeback in the future, though we can't make any promises just yet. Guest feedback like yours definitely helps guide those decisions. Thank you again for staying with us. We hope to welcome you back soon and earn that perfect 5/5 on your next visit!
My safety deposit has still not been refunded The housekeeping staff on different occasions had excuses to not clean the room Midstay they insisted on changing my room The walls are thin and so the loud neighbours kept me awake The breakfast quality was poor
Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We're truly sorry to hear about the challenges you experienced during your stay. Your safety deposit was returned to you, it was released the day you checked out, after that it is YOUR BANK that needs to complete the process. Housekeeping service is completed every 3 days unless requested. Just contact the front desk and we would be happy to get it scheduled for you. Yes, we had to move your room due to a large banquet that was arriving we did this to prevent any noise that you may encounter as your room was next to that space. We were simply attempting to be proactive. As for our Free Breakfast we offer quality items which are Brand Standards. The hotel does visit the other properties in our market, and we do compare our offerings with them and Best Western Plus Laurel does offer more than the other brands.
The room was spacious and very clean. The towels and sheets were clean and bright white and were changed everyday. It was so nice to come back from a busy day to a fresh room. The staff from the housekeepers, to the front desk, to the ladies who made breakfast were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was fantastic with a wide variety of foods. Personally I liked the sausage and eggs with fruit and muffins. It was a great way to start the day! Even though we were close to route 1 there wasn't much traffic noise and I slept really well. I would stay at your hotel next time I'm visiting my family in Laurel.
Thank you so much for the glowing 5/5 review! We're delighted to hear that your room felt fresh and welcoming each day, and that our team—from housekeeping to breakfast—made a positive impression. It's wonderful to know you enjoyed the breakfast variety, especially the sausage, eggs, fruit, and muffins—sounds like a perfect start to a busy day! We're also glad the location worked well for you and that traffic noise wasn't an issue despite being near Route 1. We truly appreciate your kind words and look forward to welcoming you back the next time you're visiting family in Laurel!
We had a very positive experience at the Best Western Plus in Laurel, MD. We stayed here for four days. The breakfast was delicious with an assortment of options from eggs and sausage to cereals, breads, and fruit. The ladies in the dining room were friendly and helpful. Our room was very clean and the sheets and towels looked new. The staff made the bed and changed the towels every day. The staff at the front desk were all pleasant and helpful. The location was perfect for our needs…there is easy access to I-95 and Route 29. I will definitely stay here again the next time I am in the area.
Thank you for the glowing 5/5 review! We're so pleased to hear your stay was clean, comfortable, and met your expectations from start to finish. It's wonderful that our breakfast offerings and friendly dining room team helped start your days off right, and that our housekeeping and front desk staff made you feel well cared for throughout your visit. We're also glad our location worked perfectly for your needs with easy access to I-95 and Route 29. We truly appreciate your kind words and look forward to welcoming you back the next time you're in Laurel!
Sharon the night staff need training, she was very rude, we had to beg to use the bathroom the bathroom, because I arrived early and the lobby is closed. I asked if I can stay in the lobby until morning to check in, she refused making me stayed in my can in parking lot. What an unhospitality. I've been driving for 10 hrs, she was not welcoming at all. I was in the hotel business, I know a good service when I see one. Kamira the front office manager and housekeeping was fine.
We're sincerely sorry for the distress you encountered during your arrival and throughout your interaction with our overnight clerk, Sharon. I'd like to clarify the timeline regarding your reservation. Your original booking was scheduled for check-in at 3:00 PM on July 25, 2025. You arrived at 4:18 AM --- 11 hours, well ahead of the scheduled check in time of 3pm. which understandably led to some confusion. We are glad that ultimately Sharon was able to assist in making an additional reservation for you and getting you checked in, so you didn't have to wait in the parking lot. Please be assured that we're reviewing this incident closely and taking steps to ensure appropriate coaching and support are provided to all our agents. Feedback like yours is essential in helping us uphold our service standards.
Sharon was the first person I came into contact with. She is absolutely amazing! She set the tone for great customer service at check in. Sharon anticipated my needs based on my questions and was so helpful to my family! Vera, Ingrith, Enid were all so gracious, kind, and helpful as well. The hotel is lobby is lovely, comfortable, and well stocked. The room is as pictured online- clean and the beds are very comfortable. The pool area is awesome! With outdoor games like Jumbo connect four, and corn hole. The pool has long hours to ensure that guests are able to enjoy a swim during their stay. We love this hotel so much that we extended our stay by an additional night, and have become Best Western members and are planning another stay for next month!
Wow—thank you for this glowing review! We're absolutely delighted to hear that Sharon, Vera, Ingrith, and Enid set the stage with exceptional service from the very beginning. They truly represent the spirit of hospitality we aim to deliver, and it's wonderful to know their warmth and care continued throughout your stay. It's fantastic that you felt comfortable in our lobby and that your room met expectations, matching the images you saw online. We're so glad the pool area and outdoor games added a fun touch to your visit—and even more thrilled that you extended your stay and joined the Best Western Rewards family. We can't wait to welcome you back next month for another unforgettable experience. Until then, jumbo Connect Four, Cornhole, and cozy outdoor bistro seating for breakfast will be ready and waiting!

Hi Rick, we are delighted that you enjoyed your stay with us here at Best Western Laurel. We appreciate you sharing your visit with us and we look forward to seeing you again soon.
There are some of the most helpful, friendly staff at this Best Western. Jamie, Anthony, Ingrid, Vera and Sharon are front desk receptionist. They treated us like family and are very professional. Miss Enid, and Andy make and serve the breakfast daily. They have worked here for years and the care taken shows in the food preparation and the cleanliness of the dining area. All of the housekeepers are excellent and keep the place super clean. Plus they are friendly and let me keep up with my Spanish skills. My husband and I have stayed here over the past 6 months while he teaches in PG County . I highly recommend this hotel.
Hi Angela, thank you for sharing your experience here at Best Western Laurel, we are delighted that you enjoyed your many visits to our hotel.
I am pretty tough when it comes to reviews, having spent over 31 years in full time travel work. Although I like luxurious hotels, and stay in them when taking family trips, as a solo traveler, I really don't need much more than a decent, clean, functional hotel with good location and wifi. This Best Western fit very well. I made the reservation because the price was really good, the location was great and it was halfway between Baltimore and Washington DC accessible by several major highways. I arrived late in the evening and was pleasantly surprised to find a well lit parking lot with available spaces, and a hotel that had obviously undergone remodeling recently. The halls, rooms and facilities, were obviously newly redone, and very clean and comfortable. The hotel is a block and a half from a MARC train depot, making a one train trip to Union Station in Washington DC easy! The breakfast was good, both hot and cold items, they had a good variety and nothing was ever 'run out of, and they are making more' as I hear at so many different hotels. They had two ladies on the breakfast service, who were both working the service very efficiently, and very nice to guests as well. I got a chance to talk with one as I was getting my breakfast two of the mornings. Enid was engaging guests as she worked. The second morning I was thinking at the waffle machine and she asked if I would like a waffle. I said yes, I was about to make one. She said 'no, you sit down and I will make you one!' She immediately poured one, and it was certainly more perfect than the ones I make myself! It became apparent that the folks in this hotel like being there and interacting with guests. The other person that made a very big positive impression, was the young woman that worked the afternoon / evening shift; Sharon. When I was lost driving in at night without a gps, she gave me directions. When I arrived, she was very pleasant and engaging. She talked to me and answered my questions many times over several days there, in between handling guests with the same demonstration of respect and kindness that she showed me, and always told me if I needed anything, just let her know. Her local carry out recommendation for Chinese food was great, and her directions were very accurate, despite my failure to follow them as given! I sincerely hope the management rewards her well, as I suspect any local savvy business person will recognize her organized, calm and kind demeanor and good attitude, and offer help career advancing jobs! I can only speculate, but my impression of this place is that when they remodeled, they hired staff and gave them a goal of making this hotel just as it was, comfortable and inviting! I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone, and would gladly bring my children and grandchildren here for a family stay close to Washington DC.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience during your recent stay with us. We are so glad that the staff did right and made your visit to the DC/Baltimore Area memorable. We just went through a 2-year renovation and there are a couple more items still on the list as we prepare to change the hotel name from Best Western to Best Western Plus. We look forward to seeing you again with your children and grandchildren, especially when the pool is open during the summer months.
To be fair the staff was super kind, courteous and helpful including front desk staff and breakfast attendants were amazing. Breakfast was also well done. Our heater was broken. The room only warmed to 64 degrees and only went downhill from there. (I know some people love to sleep in frigid rooms. I am not one.) We had to turn it off completely because of the Gregorian chanting sounds combined with what a freight train would sound like if you were to literally be standing on the tracks. It was so loud it woke all of us. Also, the heater is so close to the bed you cannot walk in between the bed and the heater to get in. The linens were so close the the heater and I do mean inches away that it is a serious fire hazard. I took a video and showed it to the front desk. They were very willing to offer a full refund. However we have not received it yet. A little noisy from traffic as our room faced the street but otherwise your typical best western experience minus no heat in our room. Since it was below freezing outside this was problematic. We just needed a quick place to crash driving to a different destination so if we had hear it would have sufficed. Nothing spectacular.
We are very glad that you found the staff was super kind, courteous and helpful along with the amazing breakfast staff. We are very sorry that we did not fully meet your expectations and do apologize if the heating unit was not working up to par during these unusually very cold temperatures that the local area and most of the county has been facing. Like at home, things can go wrong at any time, we do everything we can to avoid this by conducting regular inspections and service. Unfortunately, we have no control over the railroads schedule and/or noise from US Route 1 the hotel does use insulated glass to dampen the sound.
Cute clean hotel. Extremely friendly staff just a little close to highway. Breakfast was pretty good for a free one. Lots of options. Nice staff to help make waffle cakes. Pool is only outdoor so closed during winter season. Will still stay.
Thank you so much for your review and we wish you a happy holiday season. We look forward to seeing you again.
Room was clean. One of the sheets out of 2 queen beds had a fading stain mark. I asked the reception to replace them, and they provided me more sheets but didn't offer to replace the sheets or room! The room was surprisingly a connecting room with a door to another room, which wasn't mentioned on the booking page. It did cause some disruption on the first night when I could hear the TV and general conversation after mid night during sleep hours coming in from the next door. Surprisingly, I could hear convos from the room behind as well without any door connection, so it might be that the walls are actually quite thin. No issues besides the first night for me anyway. Breakfast was alright for the price. Overall it was comfortable besides these above issues I mentioned. Bathrooms don't have any exhaust. Giving 3 stars because of stained sheets only. Would have provided 4 if not for that.
On behalf of our entire team, I would like to apologize for not exceeding your expectations. Your satisfaction is important to us and we will be using the feedback you gave us to implement improvements to ensure we offer a better experience for guests in the future. I do apologize that we did not catch the fading. Typically if housekeeping is still on site they would normally assist you and we couldn't change your room as the hotel was fully occupied. We do have ventilation in the bathrooms it is a central system that runs 24-7 at a low CFM. Be assured that Best Western Laurel takes our guest feedback and reviews extremely seriously. I would like to share with you some insight on how review scores in all categories are read by Best Western and this hotel. The easiest way to define the scoring process is to use the analogy of a traffic light. A score of 4 or 5 is considered GREEN, 3 is YELLOW (a warning) and 2 and below is RED (a failure). I hope that you will consider staying with us again so that we can have another chance to provide you with a superior experience. If I can provide any assistance, please don't hesitate to contact me directly at 301-725-8800.
On the plus side the bed was comfortable and new. The bathroom was mostly clean and modern with a lovely walk-in shower. On the other side of the equation the hotel is an older property, carpets are old and furniture is dated and well used with mis-matched cushions on the sofa in our room. The carpet beside the bed in our room was hard and "crunchy" for lack of a better word. Obviously something had been spilled there in the past and never cleaned appropriately. My real annoyance though was the fact that upon check-in they double charged my credit card for our stay plus took a $100 "security deposit". When I questioned the front desk staff about the double charge they told me it was standard procedure and that I would be credited the over charge plus the security deposit upon check-out. This did indeed happen but I found the whole process of double charging rather slimy. I short there were some positives but all in all not up to the standards that I would expect from a Best Western property.
Hi Chris, I am sorry to hear that we did not fully meet your expectations, the hotel recently underwent a huge renovation in preparation for the brand change to Best Western a little of 18 months ago, everything in our rooms is brand new including the carpet. The furniture is not mismatched, it is part of the design. Cards are typically authorized that show as "pending", then converted to a "sale" that sometimes on a banking application looks like a separate charge, but it is not. Our security deposit is posted on all websites and here at the hotel and I am sorry that you did not see this information. I do apologize for any confusion, and I hope that you will return to Laurel's #1 hotel as we were just awarded Laurels Best of 2024 by BusinessRate.
We were pleased from arrival through departure. Our check in was smooth, quick and easy. A small arrival gift was given and received. The staff was knowledgeable and extremely helpful. Parking on site was convenient as well. Our room was clean and well stocked with everything we needed. It was a pleasant experience for the entire time.
Room was clean, bed was comfortable. Pillows were firm, but not too firm. Just right. Staff very friendly. Bottled water and oreo cookies are complementary offering. Location was convenient for I-95 access, to and from. Reasonably good eateries nearby.
Hi Explorer, we are very glad that you enjoyed your stay with us here at the Best Western Laurel and found everything to your liking. We look forward to seeing you again when your travels bring you back to the Washington DC/Baltimore area.
The service was beyond great , I felt welcomed immediately through the door with smiles and members waiting to assist me. My check in was ultra smooth thanks to Sydney and her expertise. 10/10 rating would definitely recommend especially if your coming in from and other city !!!
Thank you so much for sharing your experience for others to see and hear about! We will be sure to pass your complements into Sydney, we know they will bring yet another smile to her face. We look forward to welcoming you back when your travel plans bring you back to the Laurel area. Stay safe.
The mattress was the worst I've ever encountered. Until this point, even if a bed wasn't to my preference I could still sleep; this mattress was like a rock, no exaggeration. Horrible. Also, touted as “non-smoking” , but the smell of weed hit you outside the hotel doors. It was being smoked everywhere, the corridors were enough to get high just breathing. “Breakfast “ was a closet with 40 people trying to get in all at once. Out of everything, lady makes waffles and brings them out to your table 15 minutes later. Juice dispenser marked as out of order for all except the orange juice. Very sketchy crowd, felt very unsafe and uncomfortable. I've never had a worse stay at any hotel. Will never stay at another Best Western hotel.
Hi Cynthia, I am surprised to see such a negative review even when we talked beforehand, we are very sorry that you feel this way. As we discussed that all mattresses in the hotel are new and are made by Serta Hospitality, we recognize that mattresses are a highly personal choice. While most of our guests find them very comfortable and a few do not. We are sorry the mattress was not your preference. The entire staff does its very best and very hard to ensure we provide a great stay from maintaining spotless rooms and provide excellent customer service from to making waffles delivering them to table especially when busy. Yes, at times, we may run short on a product due to demand, we just ask our guests to be patient while the 2 attendant's re-stock. Hotel and guest security is of upmost importance to us, the weed odor is a problem for all business and public spaces, with it now being legal the government has tied our hands even more of which you even acknowledged during our conversation. Again, please understand that just because you smell it does not mean it is being smoked in the hotel, we are very aggressive about our smoking policy. We do not allow Marijuana to be smoked on hotel property, should a guest be found to be smoking weed in the building they will be removed from the hotel. The skunk smell is like a bad perfume or cologne, it lingers for quite some time. When notified we do have a special enzyme spray, that will help dissipate the odor quickly. We certainly apologize; we are doing our best we can to fight this odor and act within legal limits. Be assured everyone here is with you on this. Again, we are sorry that you had a negative experience, communication is key, perhaps in the future you may consider telling a hotel what you're experiencing during your stay so the staff may assist you and others.
Everything was perfect . I like staying at best Western chains the rewards are fantastic. Free nights add up quick & the special offers sent to my email are great bonus rewards also, earns me a free stay even faster. I look forward to my rewards for this stay added to my account.
Hi Tammy, we are glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us. When you provide your membership number that information is sent directly to Best Western so any points earned will posted by Best Western Rewards and not the local properties, it does take a few days. We look forward to seeing you again real soon!
I stayed here to break up a long drive, then booked it for my return trip. The positive reviews were very accurate. This is in the top 5 of all hotels I have stayed at for cleanliness. Staff is very friendly and kind. Lots of families using the pool. Happy vibe at breakfast. Super affordable. Easy access to lots of restaurants, a movie theater, gas. If you are sensitive to road noise, ask for a room on the pool side. This is not the quietest place due to it's location, but hands down, it's the best value in a 50 mile radius.
Hello and thank you for sharing your experience during your recent stay with us here at Best Western Laurel. Many others, including the hotel, appreciate your comments and insight. We do look forward to your next visit with us. Thank you again.
Great for a quick overnight stay if your heading to DC it's only 45 minutes away and a third of the price I have stayed a few times and have always gotten the king suite. This 4th of July weekend it was 30% more than I was paying but still cheaper than in DC proper.
Thank you for sharing your experience here at Best Western Laurel, we are glad that you enjoyed your stay once again and we appreciate your continued patronage. We look forward to seeing you again the next time you're in the DC metro area.
Outstanding and perfect choice always perfect. Always happy to be here. Location is perfect. We are happy
Hi Carmelita, thank you so much for sharing you continued experiences here at Best Western Laurel. We thank you for your kind words and as always look forward to see you and Jeremy. Thanks for the donuts!
The hotel is undergoing renovations so don't be scared when you arrive. The inside looks MUCH better than the outside. The staff is very friendly, the rooms clean and spacious, breakfast is ok. The pool is outside and closes at 8pm. If you want to sleep, watch tv and be comfortable and not break the bank, then stay here. NOTE: you cannot log on to your Netflix on their TV and the TV GUIDE is off on the channels. Bring a book!
Hello and thank you for sharing your experience here at Best Western Laurel. We do appreciate your kind words but feel it necessary to correct a few statements. Our exterior renovation was completed months ago, and there are no renovations going on at the time of you posting this review. About 4 weeks back we replaced the roof of the canopy by the pool which had little to no impact to our guests. The Televisions do come pre-loaded apps such as Netflix we do not offer streaming services as there is no way to protect your personal information or deleting it when logging in or out of your account. However, if you have a streaming device such as Firestick or Roku you can use them on our televisions just like at home. Our TV guide is on Channel 2 and is working correctly. Again, we appreciate your comments, we just want to ensure accuracy.
In town in Laurel near Main Street. Hotel in good condition, good breakfast and good value for the money.
Thank you for your 4/5 star review and we are glad you found everything to your liking. We look forward to seeing you again so we may earn that the 5/5 review score. Enjoy your summer!
Very pleasant stay! Friendly staff, Ross, KJ, Isis and Andy were very friendly and hospitable. Good breakfast and clean rooms. Thank you for the wonderfuk stay and friendly service. Please continue providing exceptional experiences. Will stay again.
There was a bug in my room but they moved me to another room and all went well. I would book with this hotel again in the future.
Staff was excellent-hotel features (room internet, breakfast ) was really good. Very minor problems wish water pressure in shower was a little higher. Miseed a couple cable channels BUT wish they had access to hotel using pass keys on side door parking lot.Always had to go thru front door.Again Staff and hotel were pretty darn good
Hi Dane, we are glad you enjoyed your stay, the hotel provides 98= cable stations for our guests to enjoy and some channel depending on the on-weather conditions may pixelate since a satellite service can be interrupted in poor weather. The side doors are accessible until 11pm with your key card using the black reader(s) on the wall. After 11pm you will have to enter the hotel through the front entrance for security purposes, and a key is required after midnight. We are very glad that you found the "hotel were pretty darn good". Thank you for being our guest and we hope to see you again soon.
This property is great value for money. Staff were very pleasant at check-in and check-out; the room was a good size, very clean, with comfortable beds. The breakfast was among the best, if not the best, that I've had in a b'n'b type hotel. The worker in the breakfast area was diligent in keeping tables and other surfaces clean and even voluntarily made my waffle for me while I collected other breakfast things.
Hi Theresa, we are so glad that you enjoyed your stay with us. We do pride ourselves on our cleanliness, customer service and comfortable rooms, so thank you very much for sharing your experience here at the Best Western Laure. We hope to see you again soon.
Staff was friendly, the rooms were clean. Bed was a bit too hard for me. Overall enjoyed the stay and would return.
Hello and thank you for sharing your experience here at Best Western Laurel, we appreciate your comments and kind words. Bed are a tricky item, all the mattress are a BW Brand standard items manfactured by Sealy. I am sorry to hear you felt the mattress was to hard for your liking. We do hope to see you again soon for the next concert.
It is very comfortable and homey here. Very easy accessible. It has all the we need when we visit. The staff is always ready to jump in and help make our extra nice. The breakfast is wonderful. The check in and out process is great,
Hi Carmelita, thank you for sharing your experience here at the Best Western Laurel. It is always nice to hear that our guests enjoy our great and helpful staff. We appreicate your breakfast comment; it lets us know we started your day off right with our quality free hot breakfast. The staff always look forward to hearing from our guests, both new ones and returning guests like yourself. We appreciate you and wish you a Happy Valentines Day!
Checked in here to rest after celebrating NYE at a friend's house in Virginia. My family were too exhausted to head straight home to Maryland after the festivities. After reading the reviews, we decided to stop at this Best Western and sure enough it is confirmed - very clean rooms, quiet, excellent location for restaurants, free hot breakfast, etc. The only 2 negatives are: I took a shower around 2:30am and the temperature was barely hot so I had to hurry up and get out of the shower and that the hotel is still under construction therefore the from of the lobby is an obstacle course, see photos.
Thank you for your review, we are happy that you had a safe NYE and chose to stay with us. We do apologize for the inconvenience our construction barriers may have caused as I am sure you are aware they are for safety purposes. They will soon be removed and the passage way will return to normal but with a brand new modern look. We appreciate your patience and understanding and we hope to see you again soon.
Hotel has been totally renovated inside, outside just being completed, but no interference or noise with guests. Very good staff, room was super clean and king bed was very comfortable. Breakfast had limited choices, but was OK. Restaurant was nearby (TexMex). Enough lighting in rooms and spacey. Great value!
Hello and thank you for sharing your experience during your recent stay. We are sorry that you felt our free breakfast was limited the hotel does offer more that the brand requires for our guests to enjoy and we do change the menu often. We hope to see you again soon and happy holidays!
The service and the room was pretty decent. It was clean. They only need to hasten the renovation for more parking convenience. The staff were very warm . Breakfast was pretty decent as well. But could offer more varieties.
Thank you for your review and comments which are most appreciated. We are curious as to what more could be offered at our free breakfast; we do welcome suggestions. I wish we could "hasten the renovation" we can see the light at the end of the tunnel but we must keep things safe for both the guests and the men working the project; SAFETY FIRST! WE are very glad that you enjoyed our clean hotel and we hope to see you again soon. Happy Holidays!
On the outside it is not inspiring. There is construction going on and it's tucked in between like a car dealership and other non-hotel businesses. I was worried as I drove up. But inside, it's its own little world. It is EXTREMELY clean. The breakfast was actually satisfying and the staff were friendly. The room was great. The only thing I would like to see is, as they replace their mini-fridges, that they use ones that have a separate freezer compartment. We had some frozen things we wanted to stay frozen, and the back wall of the mini-fridge was not up to the task. We slept great and it was conveniently located for where we needed to be. Very fair pricing as well.
We are so glad you enjoyed your stay with us and especially your kind words. As you are aware we are still working on the main entrance, but things are starting to take shape, when we are done, I assure you it will be inspiring. The current brand standard that is required for a Best Western hotel is mini fridges without a freezer, but we have already started installing mini fridges with freezers as replacements are needed. In time all rooms will have them. Thank you again for your review and we hope to see you again soon.
This was our first stay at this BW as we visit the are frequently we decided to try a new hotel. Staff was amazing, hotel very clean & easy access. We will stay here again on our travels. Again thank you to the staff for great cutomer service!
Thank you very much for your kinds words and we are exciting to hear you found our new Best Western "Staff was amazing, hotel very clean & easy access." We thank you for being our guest and we look forward seeing you again when your travel plans bring you back to the Washington DC/Balitmore metro area.
Bathrooms appear to be all new, no tub but easy to step in shower. Nice vanity. New carpet and furnishings in guest room. Very comfortable mattress. Plenty of receptacles on nightstand for charging. Breakfast was ....disappointing. Nothing special, cold biscuits & gravy
Hi Matt, We are glad that you liked our renovated rooms and pointing out that we had "Very comfortable mattress. Plenty of receptacles on nightstand for charging." That's great to hear! I am sorry that you found Breakfast not to your liking, but the Sausage gravy and biscuits was only one of the options we offer daily. We also have a selection of 6 cereals, 2-4 selections of fresh fruit, 3 selections of bread, a mixture of Danish, 3 flavors of waffles and of course Eggs served with a selection of pork or turkey sausage. We are open to suggestions and welcome your input regarding other breakfast items we could consider. I see you have another reservation with us in the next couple weeks and I look forward to meeting you. Thank you for being our guest and please know we appreciate your business and loyalty to Best Western.
I stay at this hotel with reward points the hotel charged me anyway causing my Netflix to be turn off, because they took the money without permission. They took money from my account when I shouldn't have been charged . I reached out to the manager and was told everyone make mistakes and he can't compensate for my loses. Poor customer service. The manager don't care about his customers only money. I had to use a different card to get my Netflix turn back on and they manager say tuff. He want even offer to replace my points for this stay. I am never staying here again and if you are smart beware .
Cookie, Yes, the agent on duty did make an error at check-in, she was still learning the process when you found the error 2 days after departure and contacted the front desk the $35.40 was refunded immediately. We do apologize for the inconvenience. Cookie, you have been a regular guest with the property and in the past when you experienced an issue always contact me and I responded to assist you. I am not sure what happened this time, but you did not reach out to me nor did I ever say “tuff.” Again, we are sorry for the inconvenience and hopefully in time we will see you again.
*** Alert - construction work and no swimming pool . Extremely noisy *** Looked at google and Expedia and booked this hotel room. It was convenient for us to g around Laurel .. lots of restaurants / Dunkin etc around this hotel . Check in was easy and quick .. the hotel room itself was good . Beds were good . They had a TV with lots of channels , microwave , fridge etc. the real trouble started the next day morning . After 8 am we heard thumping noise outside and people were doing work .. construction work . It was irritating and unbearable noise levels . I wished they finished it in 30 mins but it kept going from 8 - 12 noon. Headache for all of us in the room. They didn't even mention it while checking in. Parking is wierd . With so much construction , there is hardly any parking available in the front . Had 2 tough days and we couldn't relax at all with the noise levels . Will never book this hotel again …
I am glad that you found our hotel convenient and enjoyed your room. Your stay here at the hotel was prior to the pool's scheduled opening date, the good news is that its extensive renovation has been completed and it is open for the 2023 season for guests to enjoy. I do apologize for any construction noise you may have heard during your stay at the Quality Inn & Suites, and I am not sure if you are aware we are now Best Western. During the entire process of the renovation, we had very upfront we kept guests informed we listed our renovation information on all the booking sites such as Expedia, Booking.com and Google. We also posted signage throughout the hotel, and you even acknowledged the renovation notice when you signed your registration card. The hotel did try to limit the impact to our guest noise as much as possible. I hope that you will reconsider your travel plans take you from New Jersey to Laurel.
I had booked the hotel for 2 nights, March 26th and 27th. I've had very good experiences with Quality Inns in the past, and the pictures of this one looked nice. My plans changed last minute on the 26th, so I called the actual hotel and spoke to Kim. I told her I wouldn't be down on the 26th, as plans had changed, but I would be there the 27th. She said it was non refundable, which I get and said okay. She then asked me if I had booked a smoking room. I said no, I only book non smoking rooms. She said they had put me in a smoking room, but THEY WOULD CHANGE THAT FOR THE SECOND NIGHT. I said thank you and see you on the 27th. She said they look forward to my visit. When I went to check in on the 27th, they had no record of my reservation! I had my reservation number and gave that to them. They said that because I didn't show up the 1st night, their computer system automatically assumes that I will not be coming at all and cancels all nights associated with that reservation number. I would need to pay again to get another room. So, like a fool, I did. I was tired. I wish I hadn't!! The pictures on the website were deceiving!! The place was an absolute dump!! Lobby was clean. But as I walked to my room(one of those doors on the outside hotels), I noticed that the walkways ceiling was caving in at places, and the air conditioning unit covers for a lot of rooms were broken and smashed, almost like they had been kicked in. The room was atrocious!! It looks like it had never been updated. No working smoke detector or phone, no sprinklers, no directions and maps of where to go in emergency. There was a big red stain by the side of the bed that I'm hoping was just spilled paint. The chair was stained and disgusting. The carpet was absolutely filthy and my socks were almost black from walking on it. There were coffee packets yet no coffee maker. No fridge, alarm clock or hair dryer. Rhr lamp on the night stand was for ahow only- no cord to plug it in. Once I turned the air on I couldn't get it to turn off. The towel holders were barely hanging on the wall. Same with the toilet paper holder. I finally just took the roll off. The tub was clean but it looked like the fiberglass had been painted and it was peeling. Same with the paint on the walls in a lot of spots. The only thing good I can say about the room at all was the bed and pillows were very comfortable. When I went to check out I noticed the canopy on the portico where you drive up to check in was missing a good chunk of its green facade and was all matched together with plywood. I have contacted Choice Hotels about getting a refund for the extra room I had to book because their computer system cancelled my original room by itself. I ended up paying almost $275 for one night when all was said and done!! I could booked myself at a bed and breakfast for that money. I can understand swallowing thr money for the first night, but not having to pay double basically foe the 2nd night!! But I am surprised a hotel in such disrepair is still open! Isn't having working smoke detectors, sprinklers and emergency information code? I highly recommend not staying at this hotel if you can possibly avoid it.
Hi Carolyn, you DEFINATELY have the WRONG HOTEL! First we do not have a "Kim" or similar name that's is in our employ and your comments you describe do not represent our hotel by any means. The Quality Inn of Laurel, Maryland is a 100% smoke Free hotel; we are under renovation, there are no chunk of façade missing from our Portico nor is any part of our ceiling caving in. Our hotel is 5 stories high we do have 5 exterior corridor rooms but they have been OFF MARKET for over a year for our renovation crew. All guest rooms are fully refreshed which include new bathrooms, beds, carpeting, furniture, new air conditioning, the hotel has a fully functional fire detection system with sprinklers and the newest in CO2 and smoke detectors available in every room. While we have great empathy for what you say you experienced we strongly deny your accusations made here on TripAdvisor and we are prepared to defend our hotel. We would suggest that when posting a review especially when it is not sent to you by the hotel that you verify that you selected the correct hotel and its location, there are many Quality Inn's different similar cities and states.
Upon arrival at this hotel it was apparent that people live here. There was someone grilling on a grill by the dumpster. There were some people milling about that made it obvious they were residents. The front desk girl was very pleasant and helpful. She was patient with me when I was confused about how each room I rented needed a $100 deposit. It would be returned after they inspected my room upon check out! This made wonder about the types of guests this place attracts! I'm not sure if Ive ever paid a cash deposit at check in before but I know Ive never stayed somewhere that checks my room before I go. The lobby area is full of window and bright. It was clean with lots of seating and tables for charging. The breakfast area looked spacious and had waffle makers. We got in the elevator which must be under construction because it had drywall boards or something taped with masking tape to hold it on. The elevator was scary and noisy at a certain spot but it made it. Both of our rooms were on the 4th floor. We all made a gasp and a laugh when we exited the elevator as the smell of weed was thick in the air. We go to our rooms and everyone was pleasantly surprised how clean and updated they were! The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was clean and bright. The walls are a little thin in the hotel. I'm sure when the hotel is full during races it is loud in there. I woke up in the night because it smelled like someone was smoking! It wasn't in my room but it must of been close. Upon check out I let the front desk know that the weed and cigarette smell was not us! I was afraid they would try to pin that on us at check out. We didn't make it to the breakfast but for a rate of $100.57 ($89 rate plus fees) for a clean room in Laurel, I'd def stay again. I hope my review was helpful!
Hi and thank you for your review. I wanted to take an opportunity address several observations you made. Some guests will stay for just 1 night like yourself and others may stay up to 28 nights (which is the maximum length stay for our hotel). Our security deposit is designed to help ensure that can protect again any possible damages such as broken items and smoking; like a deposit you may pay for an apartment or other services. You mentioned the smell of weed and this smell is very annoying to us as well, today's weed is very potent, and it lingers on one's clothing which does cause the odor in the elevator and elsewhere. Unfortunately, there is absolutely nothing the hotel can do about this, the bad analogy is a bad smelling Perfume or Cologne. Now if they are found to be smoking the guest will be removed immediately from the hotel, no exceptions! The entire hotel is under renovation the room you stayed in was just opened about 7 weeks ago, so we do have protective boards up in the elevators as you mentioned, they elevators are 100% safe, and are inspection and serviced monthly by a certified technician according to Maryland Law. The persons grilling by the storage units are members of the construction crew who are staying on property, we allow this to assist them in having healthy meals instead of eating out every night. The hotel during the summer months provides a gas grill for guests to use as well. Again, I want to thank you for your review as all reviews are "helpful" they allow us to see things from your perspective and hopefully you and others to see from ours, but this process allows us to learn and make corrections were needed. We are very glad that you enjoyed your stay, and we hope to see you again soon, as there are many more new changes coming to the hotel over the next serval months. Stay safe!
After 14 hours of driving, we were exhausted and just needed a place to sleep. We decided to ignore the negative reviews because the price was right. We were so pleasantly surprised! The young man working the front desk was so friendly and helpful. The hotel is undergoing renovations, but we were in no way inconvenienced. The room was clean and spacious, beds were comfortable, the area was quiet and safe, lots of hot water with good water pressure. The next morning we took our tickets to breakfast and wow! we were blown away. Those ladies working the breakfast area were phenomenal. The waffles were so fluffy, the biscuits and gravy were tasty, and the coffee was hot and plentiful. But the ladies were the stars of the show. The only "complaint" is that the bathroom door is tiny which made it a toe-stubber for me. But I admit that's probably just my issue.
Dear Guest, We are so glad to hear that you ignored the reviews you saw and came to see for yourself! Yes we are undergoing a major upgrade which we expect to be completed by May 2023. We just added the Sausage gravey and biscuits we are so glad you enjoyed them, they are quite the rave at the moment. Happy New Year!
