I had booked the hotel for 2 nights, March 26th and 27th. I've had very good experiences with Quality Inns in the past, and the pictures of this one looked nice. My plans changed last minute on the 26th, so I called the actual hotel and spoke to Kim. I told her I wouldn't be down on the 26th, as plans had changed, but I would be there the 27th. She said it was non refundable, which I get and said okay. She then asked me if I had booked a smoking room. I said no, I only book non smoking rooms. She said they had put me in a smoking room, but THEY WOULD CHANGE THAT FOR THE SECOND NIGHT. I said thank you and see you on the 27th. She said they look forward to my visit. When I went to check in on the 27th, they had no record of my reservation! I had my reservation number and gave that to them. They said that because I didn't show up the 1st night, their computer system automatically assumes that I will not be coming at all and cancels all nights associated with that reservation number. I would need to pay again to get another room. So, like a fool, I did. I was tired. I wish I hadn't!! The pictures on the website were deceiving!! The place was an absolute dump!! Lobby was clean. But as I walked to my room(one of those doors on the outside hotels), I noticed that the walkways ceiling was caving in at places, and the air conditioning unit covers for a lot of rooms were broken and smashed, almost like they had been kicked in. The room was atrocious!! It looks like it had never been updated. No working smoke detector or phone, no sprinklers, no directions and maps of where to go in emergency. There was a big red stain by the side of the bed that I'm hoping was just spilled paint. The chair was stained and disgusting. The carpet was absolutely filthy and my socks were almost black from walking on it. There were coffee packets yet no coffee maker. No fridge, alarm clock or hair dryer. Rhr lamp on the night stand was for ahow only- no cord to plug it in. Once I turned the air on I couldn't get it to turn off. The towel holders were barely hanging on the wall. Same with the toilet paper holder. I finally just took the roll off. The tub was clean but it looked like the fiberglass had been painted and it was peeling. Same with the paint on the walls in a lot of spots. The only thing good I can say about the room at all was the bed and pillows were very comfortable. When I went to check out I noticed the canopy on the portico where you drive up to check in was missing a good chunk of its green facade and was all matched together with plywood. I have contacted Choice Hotels about getting a refund for the extra room I had to book because their computer system cancelled my original room by itself. I ended up paying almost $275 for one night when all was said and done!! I could booked myself at a bed and breakfast for that money. I can understand swallowing thr money for the first night, but not having to pay double basically foe the 2nd night!! But I am surprised a hotel in such disrepair is still open! Isn't having working smoke detectors, sprinklers and emergency information code? I highly recommend not staying at this hotel if you can possibly avoid it.
