"If this isn't the worst hotel in Juneau, I don't want to know what is."
D P, 28 Février 2024

This hotel is disgusting. I have literally never written a hotel review before and am logging in right now, from my hotel room, to make sure people avoid this place. The bathtub is covered with a greasy film that I can only imagine is composed of old soap and dead skin cells. The only reason this can possibly happen is that the tub has not been cleaned, period. If that isn't enough, the heaters in many rooms are broken, and when we had completely cold showers in the morning, we were told "there's nothing we can do about it - when that many people shower at once, the water is going to be cold." There aren't many options in this town, but I would definitely avoid this one at all costs.

"A great stay in Juneau."
brendaptatc, 19 Février 2024

The Baranof staff were amazing when it came to the check-in and any arrangements that I needed. They went out of their way to assist others as well. The walk to the Alaska State Capital was convenient as well as the access to dinning. It was a simple walk for lunch or dinner. The room was comfortable and made my stay enjoyable.

"Can't get a call back about charges."
Elizabeth G, 24 Octobre 2023

The room was clean and satisfactory although HOT at night. Had to open windows and turn on the box fan provided on to draw out the hot air. Stayed on the fifth floor on the street side, which offered good views until large noisy trucks started to wake me up at 4am. The main issue, and why this is review is terrible, is that post trip, after I got home, I received a receipt via email that was not commensurate with the original price of the stay that was advertised. Attempted to call the hotel, no one will answer the phone and the voicemail box is full. Called national customer care and they said I needed to call the hotel directly. The irony. I'm not sure if I'm more frustrated at the online BW portal that I originally booked through, or the hotel itself at this point. If you're a government traveler, just avoid.

"Historic hotel not in prime condition "
Whitney R, 27 Septembre 2023

It's a historic hotel in a convenient downtown Juneau location. Although the property has a restaurant, cafe, and bar, only the restaurant is open with limited service/hours. The facility is not operating in its "Hey Day." I had a King Suite, which was very large with a separate living room and bedroom. The room was moderately clean and maintained. Nothing gross, but also not well detailed. The room was intolerably hot the first night, leading to windows open with fan running after that. Street noise was an issue, so in went ear plugs. The provided toiletries were not great quality, but eco-conscious in refillable dispensers. I would stay here again knowing that most Juneau accommodations can get away with sub-par facilities based on high demand during the summer.

"Tired, dingy hotel"
613gabriellad, 23 Septembre 2023

American Cruise Lines booked us into this hotel for the night prior to embarking on our cruise. We were given a small room, clearly in a wing that had not been renovated. The room had an unpleasant odor, no air conditioning or fan. We had to open the window which opened onto a moldy appearing roof. The overhead light in the room was not working. It took the maintenance man three tries and a trip to Ace Hardware to repair it. Breakfast the next day was mediocre at best. The appearance of the hotel lobby is old and run down. We, as well as other travelers were disappointed in American Cruise lines choice of hotel. There have to be better options in Juneau.

"Great to visit again"
CherylS932, 22 Septembre 2023

Stayed at the Baranoff two years ago. Last time it was being remodeled and my rooms was upgraded to a top floor suite. This time the upgrade was only to a smaller apartment type room. Both were great! the location of the hotel as the Hotel on the hill were great. Easy walk to everythijg

"Old time elegance"
Sajoni, 16 Septembre 2023

A hotel with lots of character, wonderfully located downtown and with great views over the water. Special thanks to Lee at the reception desk who was very helpful. It's a great location and quiet at night. Nice and close to the Gin Distillery and The Rookery cafe.

"Adequate, good location"
Sudbury9122, 06 Septembre 2023

We stayed here only because it was recommended by our tour company. It was adequate for a one-night stay. Bed was comfortable, bathroom quite small. Breakfast not included, but buffet was good if pricey. Laundromat around the corner but not in hotel. There is a secure room to store luggage. Main desk staff seemed more interested in chatting about their dinner plans than waiting on guests. A hotel this large cannot afford to have one of their two elevators out of order. We waited for 15 minutes to get an elevator in the morning and wound up having to take the stairs lugging heavy bags. Four hours later it still wasn't working.

"Unsafe no one at desk overnight doors are open to junkies n homeless on the street .waiting for taxi at 3 am n"
Travel59178134836, 03 Septembre 2023

Very unsafe almost got mugged or killed no one at desk overnight or early waited for taxi at 3 am for flight n doors are open to junkies n homeless on the street they see you waiting in lobby n just come on in n try to either mug or kill you n no security they even have access to elevator to rooms never again Stayed 8/30/23- 9/03/23. Very dangerous for cruise people dangerous

"Old"
luvOregon2011, 01 Septembre 2023

This hotel is in a great location. If you want a quiet room from street noise get a room that faces the parking lot. The walls are thin and the bathroom is very small, no counter no shelves. Very disappointed. Very slow service in the dining. Nice bar.

"Good hotel with outstanding staff."
X3076YCdavidh, 27 Août 2023

We had a great stay at the Baranof. Our group of 15 stayed for three nights. The rooms were very nice and clean. The staff was outstanding. Everyone we worked with was friendly and helpful. Our reservation was confusing (all our fault) and the staff went out of their way to make sure everyone was accommodated. The location is right on The main avenue with all the shops and restaurants in walking distance. Great job Baranof!

"Weathered Hotel in Need of Major Upgrades"
Luv2TravelNY15, 26 Août 2023

The Baranof works with Nat Geo and seems to have given up. It's a weathered hotel in a great location. It is near anything you want to see in Juneau but is missing basic amenities. We arrived and first room they tried to put us in was a King room on second floor facing the back — a wall and big open puddle. It smelled musty and moldy. We requested a change and moved up to a Queen on 7 facing the water which was a big improvement. Rooms don't have safes, the cleaning staff gave us access to the room when we had trouble with the door but had no clue if we actually belonged there, the luggage storage room was unlocked despite being told they lock it. Also, the street is noisy at night so avoid lower floors at all costs. There is no late check out. Period. Price per night varies greatly but for a worn-out hotel lacking in service, it's surprising they get what they get. It was also cheaper to book independently. I would look elsewhere unless you are tied into it with the cruise ship.

"Worst Hotel Experience ever."
richard33112023, 23 Août 2023

Paid extra for a king suite with Sofa bed (wife suffers migraines). Rang ahead and asked for it to be made up. Not done. Tried to call front desk to have it made up - no answer. Asked next morning and assured would be done. It wasn't. Had to book a night at the Four Seasons for our second night. After a fourth request, was finally made up for our third night (no apology, no compensation). Room had a funny odour, no air conditioning. Breakfast ordinary at best (serving staff were nice). For $600 a night, expect more.

"Poor customer service"
907nolan, 22 Août 2023

They don't even come to clean your room each day unless you specifically ask. They don't assist at all in getting transportation to/from airport and simply tell you to call a cab company. They don't seem to know or care what basic facilities are open and nearby. Poor soundproofing and you can hear everything happening in the nearby rooms and rooms above and below. And the reservation was inaccurate, even though hotel was called to make it, because the agent decided to turn a two night stay into two separate reservations.

"Clean, comfy beds, great location, in bad need of updating"
jimmZ108OS, 20 Août 2023

Pros: The hotel has a great location. Our room was clean. The bed and pillows were comfortable. The front desk was great and took care of getting me a reservation for dinner and cab to the airport in the morning. I think the front desk gave my dinner reservation request to the concierge so you can ask the concierge service, that is within the hotel, to help you with dinner and excursion reservations. Cons: The hotel needs to be updated and refreshed. Our room smelled old and definitely needed new carpeting and there looked like some mildew stains on the walls. Wallpaper and laminate is peeling. The towels were the thinnest hotel towels I've ever seen. The bathroom mirror was crooked and when I straightened it a large panel in the wall behind it fell out revealing a hole in the wall. There is no heat control in each room. The windows could be opened and there was a fan in the room. But the street noise would be problematic with open windows. My husband heard people outside on the street at 1:30 am with the windows closed. This would be a fantastic hotel if it was updated and especially with individual room temperature control. We noticed that throughout Alaska most hotels are quite pricey and need updating. I would stay here again but it's not a luxury hotel other than price!

"Beginning of our Alaska adventure..."
elenac74, 13 Août 2023

We had one night at the Baranof Downtown in Juneau. The hotel was fine for a short stay and well located in Juneau. Staff was helpful and friendly. The breakfast was tasty. The hotel is in need of upgrading - for example the one tiny elevator groaned loudly when reaching its destination. Juneau is remote and we were fortunate to have solid, historic lodging during high season.

"Had a good stay"
MichiganLaurena, 10 Août 2023

Was not expecting much based on reviews on Trip Advisor. Rooms were small and somewhat outdated but the beds were very comfortable, although really high. Shower pressure was excellent. Breakfast buffet was 21.99 and limited selection. But a simple off the menu was about the same cost. Staff was very nice. Biggest complaint, the housekeeping staff who started very early on our floor, like at 5am, were talking to each other from a distance. If you were hoping to catch a nap or even sleep in, it was challenging. Was in room 309. They do allow storage of a bag until you return which is nice. Located just up the street where there is lots of shops or easy to pick up a bus. Front desk was very helpful when I wanted to print out my boarding pass for airline. Their printer in the main hall was not in service so they printed it at the front desk. I had phone contact a couple of times with the front desk prior to my arrival. I wanted to know if they had a hotel shuttle. They didn't. So I asked about taxi service from the airport. They told me Juneau Taxi was the most reliable. That was very helpful and when I called them at the airport, they were very prompt.

"Pleasant room, mediocre staff"
chanteljones47, 05 Août 2023

The room was very clean and comfortable. The staff was rather would've appreciated a little help with my bags, because when I checked in, they were not at all busy. I would also appreciate the ability to be able to speak with a desk clerk, but since the voicemail box was full I couldn't. Perhaps someone should be in charge of checking it!

"Great Location Downtown"
Tracy L, 03 Août 2023

Great walking location for downtown Juneau. Rooms are ok. People are nice . We were in and out in one day. Taxi service was quick (thanks to the peeps at the front desk) There is a Mexican restaurant just a few doors down that was incredible. It was called El Sombrero.

"Classic Hotel, great location"
C Kelly D, 30 Juillet 2023

Truly a pleasant stay. Perfect location, across the street is a wonderful distillery, a brewery, and a great Indian Restaurant. Down the street is deck hand Daves. Around the corner from Salt. Great value, loved the charm of this old hotel. Can not say enough about the front desk crew. My room was very clean and comfy, I enjoyed the service and breskfast. We were getting on a small boat and needed advice what to do where to eat and how to get there. We discovered in the lobby a helpful concierge that gave us ideas and directions to wonderful hiking and even the Taku lode for an incredible memory. I can not say enough good things . I love Juneau Alaska.

"Baranof"
Global785016, 23 Juillet 2023

American Cruise Lines uses this hotel for pre-cruise lodging. We were told there was transportation from the airport, but there was not.I told them several months in advance that I needed an accessible room, but they did not have it. American Cruise Lines got us something that was not optimal, but we survived. The front desk staff was not at all helpful. Deenie Rose, the Assistant General Manager, was the only person to try to help the 170 people on that cruise. American Cruise Lines should find a better option.

"Nice facility, but too expensive to provide good value"
charleswlawjr, 23 Juillet 2023

Nice facility, but the price is too expensive to provide good value. The location is ok, the facilities are marginal (old). The restaurant food is ok and the portions are pretty healthy. Friendly and helpful staff. Overall, I wasn't impressed b/c of the cost

"Can be about more friendly"
josehomejq, 09 Juillet 2023

Staff seems to be bothered when guest asked questions. Room can be clean more often especially when one is staying there for a week. Also left computer charger behind by mistake and hotel staff is unable to locate it

"Find some place else to stay. Rooms definitely need to be updated."
fudgbug, 03 Juillet 2023

The Baranof is a historic hotel and we have stayed in a number of historic hotels that have rooms that have been updated. The Baranof leaves a lot to be desired. The pro is location and easy walks to restaurants, bars, shopping, sites and the cruise dock. The bed was comfortable. Nice bar. The cons are carpeting in the hallways that are stained and walls that are gloomy. Doors to rooms that stick and have to be pushed open with a shoulder or hip. The water in the sink in the bathroom dribbles out. Not that we needed it on our stay, but the rooms don't have air conditioning. The rooms are just so dated. Stay away!

"Avoid it if you can."
familytravel1219, 23 Juin 2023

The pictures on the hotel website are deceitful, mold was inside the shower, and dust was everywhere. We discovered someone else's dirty socks under our bed. After our first night, we had a male house cleaner enter our room; although we had our- do not disturb sign on our room; he kept saying he was coming to clean our room- I was trying to explain to him we were trying to sleep. He apologized but asked me for a tip. I was blown away and shocked. Clearly, he doesn't clean well the conditions of our room were horrendous. Also, if you are traveling with medication that needs to be refrigerated don't stay here. I had to put my medication on the ice each night. The front desk staff is also in need of training - if you have an aggressive attitude you should NOT work at the front desk. For $300.00 I was expecting more, but we were disappointed. I'll end on a positive note, the location is nice.

"As someone who travels weekly for work, it's not about the space. It's about the people who make the space."
Janette C, 15 Juin 2023

Desk staff: Overall, I found the staff that worked the desk to be incredible. Chatting with Jillian and Lee became part of my nightly routine as I would return from work/hikes/beach trips. I use to not be a fan of Best Western properties, but they have changed that for me. I never left their presence feeling like my needs weren't met. Bar/restaurant staff: Hernan (the bar manager) and Reese (a new bartender/reoccurring server) made my restaurant experience. When I wasn't working, hiking, or at the beach, I was in there catching up with them. Hernan would quiz Reese on her classic drinks and she would look up the origin stories of the drinks, so she could share them with patrons. Knowledge is power, My Friends, and managers should encourage that behavior from their employees. She exhibited the hunger to learn her job (and then some) and he was willing to teach. As someone in property management, I wish more employees had a team bond such as theirs. The food was good and the margaritas were GREAT! Housekeeping staff: I think there is a little to be desired here. I found the staff to be kind and helpful. As a trainer with my company, I feel that training and checklists can 100% fix this issue because the staff have the want to do the best they can. Concierge: Not impressed, but I also don't think this is a hotel employee. It seemed like a 3rd party with the hotel. I found better deals myself and I even found options that the concierge didn't know of. Lastly, as someone who travels with a service dog, my service dog was never an issue. Nala was treated with respect and even loved when she wasn't working. As much as this should be a common practice when we are traveling, it's not. I appreciate the kindness toward my dog during our stay. I tend to lean toward staying at Hilton/Marriott brand hotels. With that being said, no brand can compete with my enjoyable time at the Baranof. I really wish I could thank every spectator person individually, but this will have to do for now. I absolutely recommend and will be back. Signed, JC

"Quiet and comfortable"
laymanmd, 08 Juin 2023

This is a modest older hotel that suited our needs. We did not get off to a good start as they assigned a small queen bed room instead of the larger King we reserved online through the BW site. However the staff corrected the situation and we had a comfortable stay. The restaurant serves breakfast and lunch and the service was outstanding. It is within walking distance to the historic district of downtown Juneau, so very convenient to shops and the wharf.

"Excellent service"
dlewissr2023, 05 Février 2023

From the moment I arrived the service was top notch and extremely professional. I felt like I had known the front desk staff forever. The room was really nice. Housekeeping staff were on point. Overall great experience. Bravo!!

"Good for a night before your cruise starts"
Jason C, 10 Octobre 2022

We had a one-way cruise out of Juneau to Vancouver and needed a place to spend one night before our cruise left the following day. The check-in process was fine as we were there when it wasn't crowded (late afternoon) and the staff were friendly. The rooms are what you might expect from a Best Western and meet the needs of an overnight stay. The rooms are small and the decor is "dated". You can tell this is an older hotel. That night, we enjoyed a drink in the bar and had a great bartender who gave us information about what to expect on our day visit in Juneau. They had strong pours on the wine and the atmosphere was lively. We asked for a late checkout and they eventually allowed it for one room (we had two) so we didn't have to stow our luggage and had a place to relax before we were to board our cruise. It was within walking distance to our ship, but we opted for a taxi due to light rain. It is walking distance to many restaurants and bars as well as the Capitol Building and the Alaska State Museum.

"Ok, but this place needs some maintenance"
Scott4128, 23 Septembre 2022

I stayed here twice during September. There's not a lot of choice in Juneau and the location is central, but- first stay I was on level 5, it was so noisy, I could hear people taking next door and there was a lot of street noise. Second time I was on level 9, heater didn't work, only two lights working and the shower head sprayed more water into the floor than in the shower. Give breakfast a miss, Buffett is not nice. Staff were ok. Lots of cruise staff stay there between change overs.

"Old, dark and dreary"
FloridaJ11, 12 Septembre 2022

Great location but that's the only positive. This hotel is old and dated and in desperate need of an update. Both the sink and bathtub drains were clogged, no hair dryer in room, and I never received maid service. In my opinion this hotel is overpriced and I would not recommend it.

"Nice property in need of updating"
U8434UGcraigb, 12 Septembre 2022

We stayed over the 4th of July weekend, one of the warmest weeks in Juneau in recent times. The property lacked air-conditioning and our only relief was a small 12" fan that we had to put in the window. The common areas were extremely hot as air circulation was minimal. The building is a beautiful building, but needs some restoration to bring it back to it's once great glamour. Being an older property, the rooms are small and a bit our dated (property is seasonal, so understandable). On a side note, daily housekeeping was conducted unlike the brand I am loyal to and diamond with, where you have to ask for housekeeping. Probably one of the better hotels in Juneau, but if you are looking for a full service property, this might not be the choice.

"horrible uncomfortable stay"
lmZ4201ME, 11 Septembre 2022

We stayed for 3 days in August and we were horribly disappointed. The building is old, which I love for the character, but heating and cooling system was awful. I called the manager he did nothing about it the first night we almost suffocated. The engineer came in the morning and said he had to go downstairs and cut the heat off. The room cooled down then that night the heat came on by itself and the room was hot again. I called the manager and was told the manager was gone and their was no manager on duty. The person that answered said that heat should be off and was not. There is no room control to adjust the heat which was electric heat along the baseboard.. There was no air conditioning, but there was a fan. We left it running for the entire stay with the window open. It was in the 60's during our stay and I have no idea why it was so very hot. the manager never called me back to address the issue and many calls looking form he was either at his car or not there. They had fans in the room that did not cool the room down. Our final issue was the cleanliness. The whole building and rooms could use a deep cleaning but overall i was uncomfortable and horrible stay. DO NOT STAY THERE IT IS A WASTE OF YOUR MONEY AND YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SLEEP BECAUSE THE ROOMS ARE VERY HOT AND MANAGEMENT DOES NOT CARE.

"Great Location, Wonderful Staff and Most Comfortable Bed Ever"
drrbooher, 03 Septembre 2022

Older hotel in downtown Juneau. The room was very small and the view from our room was not good though we did see 2 eagles perched in a tree searching for prey. What made this hotel deserve a 4 star rating was its location right downtown wirh multiple restaurants and shops within easy walking distance and the most comfortable bed we have ever enjoyed in a hotel. Also the front desk staff were excellent. They were personable and professional and very helpful during our stay. Not sure if there is a better choice in downtown Juneau but if we return to Juneau will likely stay there again because of the staff and bed.

"Try another restaurant"
RichardY363, 30 Août 2022

I asked for skim milk for coffee this morning at breakfast. The server said “we don't have any.” I said “what kind do you have?” She said “none.” I looked at her in astonishment. She then said, “honey, you are in Juneau. Everything comes in by barge. So we don't have any milk.” The barge arrives on Wednesday! Today is Monday! Doesn't the GM have a Costco membership? Not acceptable for a top rated hotel!!

"Not clean"
dyerta, 23 Août 2022

We stayed for 3 days in August and we were horribly disappointed. The building is old, which I love for the character, but systems were problematic. The first room, toilet wouldn't flush so we were moved. I'm not sure if it annoyed them that we complained about the plumbing but they put us in a room that barely had space to get around the bed. There was less than a foot between the end of the bed and the bureau. The drawer handle protruded 1 1/2 inches and I ended up with bruises on my legs because there wasn't enough space to walk through. The plumbing in the new room did work, but you had to hold down the handle. However, both rooms were really hot. The signage stated the heat should be turned down on the electric heat along the baseboard. It was already turned off and it was still suffocatingly hot. There was no air conditioning, but there was a fan. We left it running for the entire stay with the window open. It was in the 60's during our stay and I have no idea why it was so very hot. Our final issue was the cleanliness. There was never any bag for the ice bucket. Our toiletries were partially used when we checked in. We had to ask for the room to be cleaned and go to the desk for soap when if ran out. They would make the bed and wipe off the bathroom counter, but overall i was uncomfortable because if i could see that much uncleanliness what was I unable to see.

"Manager very rude to several guests checking in"
WordVomitPublishing, 20 Août 2022

There was a long line to check in, under most circumstances I can accept this but almost every customer had a question which the desk clerk could not answer. The manager was then called to assist and he was very rude to almost every customer with an issue. Ranging from not able to accept a debit card when the customer was there paid in advance from their employer, another customer wanted a late check out and was refused and another customer questioned his bill having different rates for different days some being way higher than quoted and when the manager was questioned about it, he told the guest he can check out and stay somewhere else if he didn't like it. I took this personal even though it wasn't me he spoke to and checked out the next day and found a way better rate at the Four Corners with less noise. I could hear the guest on one side of me snoring all night and girls in the room by my head board having a party and shouting in Spanish. I called to complain and it took 20 minutes to resolve the issue. I will never stay at this hotel again and strongly recommend other travelers to find other accommodations. I would rather sleep on a park bench than stay at this shoddy hotel.

"Noisy"
miketeve, 19 Août 2022

The good: clean room, bed decently comfy, fan in the room for white noise. Much of what you need in a hotel. The bad: our window was right outside their HVAC (or something) which sounds like a motorcycle. We kept the window shut since it's quite loud, so the room was warm. Sleepers affected by noise would likely not sleep well. We were on the 2nd floor on the east side, the west side would presumably be quieter!

"Mediocrity"
hi1cotton, 16 Août 2022

Just a bland old hotel. We were put here by American Cruise lines the night before our departure the following day. It functioned. On our own I would have never picked this place. What should have been a nice hotel restaurant, it was nothing but a beer and burger joint.

"Disappointed"
retrieverfishin, 16 Août 2022

Mediocre would best describe. Check in slow and inefficient. Room clean but uninspiring. Closet door painted shut. Bed comfortable. Dining room and bar closed day of arrival. Breakfast way under staffed. Buffet food cold and containers almost empty. All n all disappointing.

"Historic and Nice Hotel"
jlbmadden, 15 Août 2022

We stayed at the Baranof Downtown for the Ironman Alaska. The location is great for walking everywhere downtown. The rooms were nice even though in a historic and older building. The parking lot for vehicles in the back was hard to maneuver and small, which was not the best, but not terrible. Overall, we were very happy with our stay here and would stay here again.

"Weekend getaway in Juneau, first time !"
brian A, 15 Août 2022

After a long trip from POW , we arrived very late and tired from our journey. Christian was the first to greet us. This young man was very witty and precise @ resolving all of our problems with the grace and experience of of someone twice his senior. Lee who registered us was very kind and accommodating . Though our trip was very the Baranof staff made us feel very welcomed. See you next time !

"Caveat Emptor, I Guess (the staff were lovely, though)"
doctorbchi, 07 Août 2022

The staff here were absolutely lovely. The lobby is pretty nice. After that, I'd call this visit kind of a disaster. I don't mind paying Ritz Carlton prices for a Ritz Carlton; this property jacked its rates to OVER $600 per night — in Juneau, Alaska — to gouge participants in Ironman Alaska, which took place the weekend of our visit. I'm an unapologetic capitalist and understand hiking rates…but paying 400% of what I suspect was rack rate for this is really unconscionable. We let them know we'd have four people in the room. There were three towels in the bathroom, which was, in fact, clean. There was, however, no shampoo in the dispenser in the shower, and our request for some notwithstanding, we never received any. The room and two beds (and pullout) were perfectly serviceable for normal rack rate…but at this price I'd have expected peeled grapes served by eunuchs fanning us with palm leaves. Again, I don't expect top tier quality sheets and pillows for their normal rate…it was what you'd expect for a normal BW — a little threadbare but perfectly serviceable. Again, we're in Juneau, and it's high tourist season and they're probably turning over a lot of rooms as a result…the housekeepers came to clean our room well before the check out time (and we had notified the front desk that we'd be here precisely until checkout time). And, again, we're in Juneau and it's high tourist season…I'd have hoped to not find so much grunge and garbage under and next to the bed when I went looking for my watch that I knocked off the nightstand in the middle of the night. To summarize…very kind and helpful staff. Lovely lobby. At what I suspect is regular rate, what probably would have been a perfectly nice stay….even with the sketchy cleanliness, lack of towels, and lack of shampoo…. They should be ashamed of taking advantage of competitors and tourists this way, though, and it reflects badly on the property, the owners, the brand, and the town.

"lower average hotel"
michaelcG6140BQ, 03 Août 2022

Stayed here overnight as part of a cruise ship. I would not have picked this place to stay on my own. Long lines to check in. The hotel was just not ready to handle the influx. What should have been a relatively nice restaurant was just a beer and burger joint.

"In the heart of downtown"
Robert D, 30 Juillet 2022

The Baranof is an older hotel in the heart of downtown. It has seen better days. Rooms are comfortable and there is a laundry on the ground floor. The breakfast buffet is a bit partan, but you can order what you wish from the a-la-carte menu.

"Mixed"
Q8235UVkateg, 29 Juillet 2022

Appalling service (they really hate their guests), exceptionally noisy all night, we can hear the full details of our neighbours conversations , tired decor and small room. But, fabulous shower which is very powerful, warm room and comfy bed.

"Great location but that is it."
debrafP9477CB, 28 Juillet 2022

Shower never got better than tepid over 4 days! Linens smelled like sweat. Great location but that is all hotel has going for it. Might be fine for someone spending one night before joining cruise ship but not for multiple night stay.

"Very friendly service"
Quest51301, 28 Juillet 2022

A charming older hotel in a perfect downtown location with very friendly and helpful staff. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. The location made walking to dinner, meetings, and shopping easy!

"Is This Juneau's Best Option?"
lpbbruin82, 20 Juillet 2022

The hotel is in a great location. The staff got us checked in early and confirmed our cab was en route on our final day. The hotel is very old and looks and feels worn out. The second night there was some kind of plumbing/mechanical noise that made it difficult to sleep.

"Juneau stay"
johnfugate, 18 Juillet 2022

We stayed there for 6 nights while visiting Juneau for the first time. A very nice hotel centrally located in downtown Juneau and within walking distances of restaurants and activities. The staff were very customer oriented and helpful with arranging my taxi to the airport the day we left.

"Tired hotel; Excellent location downtown"
pamt464, 16 Juillet 2022

Pros: Nice downtown location; Walking distance to many restaurants, wharf, etc.; Quiet rooms; Free self-parking, but limited spaces; Good wifi; Onsite W&D (tokens available at front desk); Cons: Tired hotel (needs updates) for the price; No a/c, but window has a screen; Quiet room (#930); No included breakfast; We would consider a different accommodation if staying downtown on a future visit.

"Way overpriced for what you get - quaint old time Alaska hotel, but really lacking."
Jesulbuib, 11 Juillet 2022

Many issues that could be easily remedied with good management. Nice old building with a decent vibe. Fits Alaska. But that being said, at $240 and up per room I expect a lot more. Firstly, no blinds in the room. When the sun comes up, YOU'RE UP too. No blinds? How cheap a place is this? Coffee maker dirty. Shower door won't shut, water on floor. Then... My company calls and says, "We're picking you up at 4pm instead of noon. I ask for late checkout and some night manager with horrible bedside manner, "No we don't do that." When I asked why he mumbled something and said "We don't give late checkouts." I even asked to pay for a half day rate, "No we don't do that." That's it. He made no effort whatsoever to accommodate me. It's the hospitality business... that's his only job. This is how it should have been handled, "We're sorry Mr. Dowler, we are pretty booked so we can't really extend your check out. BUT, we can make you really comfortable in our lobby, bring you coffee or water and you're welcome to make yourself at home till your pickup." That little effort would have made me a happy customer, but I felt like the guy had no personality at all and was probably an ex-cop or marine, which is fine if you work for the police or the marines. But not in a hotel. Bed was comfortable. TV worked ok. Had hot water. I'd put this place on the level of a motel 6 because of the service. But they had nicer towels and pillows. Breakfast buffet was AVERAGE at best. At $20 it should be better presented, more options and wait staff could use some training. Very slow and forgetful. I mean it's a serve yourself buffet. How hard is refilling coffee and water? Way overpriced. The shame is, it wouldn't take that much effort to make it a good experience. It just seems like this night manager doesn't care. He's just there burning hours to make some cash. My company books hundreds of rooms annually. You think they'd try harder to keep our business.

"So so visit"
Craig B, 08 Juillet 2022

Over all, stay was ok. We spent five nights at Baranof over Independence Day weekend. Upo check in, credit card processer was not working, so checked in as cash. Mext morning, I went to the front desk to rectify and the young girl at the desk didn't know how to correct. She said she woukd have to talk to the manager and will get back to me. Property is a beautiful building in need of alot of refreshing. Rooms are small, but typical of a property from 1939. Bedding is average. No airconditioning and the temps were well above normal during our stay. The 12" fan did little to keep the room cool. Food quality is average. The evening of July 4th, the restaurant was closed as was the balance of places across the city. Hotel should have better planned out some kind of food. They did have a fridge in the lobby with sandwiches. However there is no date on the packaging and the sandwich we bought Thurs night had soggy bread and the ham was gray. Ended up in the trash. This property lack any airport shuttle and a one was taxi is $30. Regretfully, there is limited hotels in Juneu as the city is more focused on cruise ships than long term vacationers. The Baranof is the nicer of properties.

"Baranof Juneau"
98lori, 07 Juillet 2022

This was a great location in downtown Juneau. We had 3 rooms. Suite was the best view and spacious, King with Kitchen was spacious and great for gathering and the double with single bed room was small and most expensive hmmm. It was unusually warm for Juneau and without air conditioning for 5 days it was an adjustment but rooms had fans. Overall great experience, plenty to do and enjoyed the Baranof Hotel.

"Great location and decent accomidations"
TravelwithTabi, 19 Juin 2022

Baranof Downtown BW has a great location for those looking to adventure around downtown. Their lobby was tidy and inviting, offering free lemon water or other snacks and beverages upon purchase. I unfortunately did not get to enjoy the restaurant, bubble room, or fitness area but they are certainly a plus to have available. My room was small but had everything I needed. My biggest complaint is the lack of air flow in the room due to outdated vents. This wouldn't normally be an issue in Alaska, but I stayed overnight during a hot summer day of 75+ making getting a comfortable temperature a bit difficult. Additionally I would not recommend staying on the second floor opposite of the street side because there is a rooftop there with very noisy machinery that made it sound as if a plane was constantly flying overhead. Lastly, due to summer rates and such, the room was awfully high for what was received. Overall, the stay was alright, but could've been better.

"Loved it"
amyp2022now, 19 Juin 2022

I was so happy with the service, the staff was so nice and helpful with everything! Rooms are cozy and location unbeatable. Would definitely stay there again I recommend this place to everyone visiting Juneau for any reason!

"Antiquated costly hotel"
Sightsee13655870992, 13 Juin 2022

An antiquated, noisy hotel. If you want a good night's sleep- don't stay here. Much too expensive for what you get!! $400+ a night - old noisy heating system making noise all night. Tiny one person bathroom. No breakfast included for that rate.

we had a great stay at this hotel. it was very nice. it was a perfect fit for our little family and had a place for everyone to sleep. on top of that our room as close to the elevator for easy access.

"Great Experience!"

We had a great experience during our stay here. we came to Juneau to visit family. Rooms were comfortable and the customer service was great. We also got to try the food and it was also delicious! I would definitely recommend this place.

"Great stay in an great town!"
Mark_in_the_sky, 26 Mai 2022

Stayed here for 3 nights while visiting Juneau for the first time. I love this hotel, I love its history and how quirky it is! The hotel could do with a facelift, however considering it's survived a pandemic with 2 years of no tourism I'm pleased it's still open and it's decor is appealing in a retro way. We had a king suite on the 7th floor which was lovely, very comfortable bed and room was clean and had everthing you needed. No air conditioning but the room has windows which open fully and there are fans in the room (which we did not need to use) The staff I came into contact with were friendly and they have a laundry room you can use (accessed through a separate entrance to the left of the main hotel entrance) for $4 I also saw a gym, plenty of working areas and there is an ATM in the lobby alongside a restaurant and bar. I did not eat here, however enjoyed a drink in the bubble bar which was very nice! Great location as a hotel and we were lucky to have some amazing views of the cruise ships docked. I would happily stay here again, and would recommend it to anyone

"Was Looking Forward to Sleeping In on Mother's Day, But-----"
makennedy, 08 Mai 2022

The alarm clock went off at 5:45 am in the empty room next door. Just so you know, it goes off automatically 10 minutes later. But that's why I'm writing this review at 6 am..... The same thing happened two mornings ago in room 921 where I was originally assigned--at 6:15 am. I turned the alarm off, but unfortunately tough to do in an empty neighboring room. Seems like that should be part of standard room cleaning/prep?? But not at the Baranof. But that's actually the least of this hotel's problems. I so miss the early '80s when Bill Sheffield owned the hotel! Both 921 and 925 have newly renovated baths. I must have been the first to stay in each. I flushed the toilet in 921 and water seeped out between the new floor and the old, high-flow toilet. (Who doesn't replace a 1980s toilet during a renovation?) After the switch to 925, I turned on the shower the next morning, and water gushed out between the new shower tile and the new shower controller/escutcheon. (That means water can also be flowing down between the studs behind the tile. Not good.) After brushing my teeth over the mismatched new countertop/old sink, I noticed water dripping from the p-trap onto the new wood vanity base. I now have a great relationship with the very sweet maintenance guy, who was getting advice/pointers from a professional plumber while fixing my issues. (Though who signed off on the original work?? Why is he fixing this stuff??) But I'm assuming the renovation job at the other rooms was similarly slipshod and problematic. Not what I was planning to find while on relaxed vacation in Juneau. Rooms are hot (and 921's window is taped shut around the vent from the portable HVAC thing sitting out in the middle of the room). Didn't try the TVs. Great location. Both rooms were quiet. Two poached eggs with toast were great for breakfast. Would love just a couple Lipton tea bags at the coffemaker. Super cheap way to make us tea drinkers very very happy. OK, ready to head back to sleep. Was SO looking forward to sleeping in before snazzy Mother's Day brunch........ Moms normally never get to sleep in, and today was no exception, unfortunately.

"Old Hotel, Needs Some Love"
ralverde, 16 Septembre 2021

I let a lot slide in a historic hotel like this, but when it's basic maintenance that clearly isn't due to the age of the hotel, it's hard to let it go. First, it wasn't awful. It did its job, and was in a really good location, but it wasn't great. The staff here tried, but didn't really seem to know what was going on. Overall, the place just felt like somewhere that could just as easily had been abandoned 10 years ago, and like there would be stories of how the place is haunted. Maintenance issues were the problem - the shower drained incredibly slowly, it was a guessing game as to whether the door to the room would open, and there were a couple of other minor issues. There aren't a lot of good options in Juneau, so staying here is fine, but I might try something different next time. My usual notes: Comparison to others in chain: Hard to compare, as it is a historic hotel, but I'd say worse than average Internet: Good enough (8 down/10 up) Breakfast: N/A - don't think one is offered Room: Small Cleanliness: Pretty clean Bed: Tiny Bedding: Average Shower: Bad - doesn't drain, short, no fan (vent did nothing) Hard water: Maybe very slightly HVAC: If it had air, I couldn't figure it out. Location: Good, right in downtown, walkable to everything Noise: Louder than average (both from hotel and outside) Staff: Fine, trying Cost/Value: Average for the area, a bit expensive

"Baranof-the-mark"
Departure10461444867, 05 Septembre 2021

Upon arrival at the Baranof, we were surprised to be offered exceptionally early check-in at 10:30am. Things went downhill from there. We emerged from the elevator to the smell of rotting garbage - it turns out our room was just down from the service elevator / trash chute. Also, used room service trays littered the entire floor, sometimes three to a room - we wondered if the hotel was being used for cruise ship quarantine duty. Despite the functional layout and smart decor of our room and nifty Soviet-esque Art Deco decor of this 1939 hotel, the sight and smell of our hallway was not easily overcome. It's too bad that the Baranof feels so past its prime, because the location and history are truly spot-on.

"Employees were outstanding!"
boylerkm, 31 Août 2021

Hotel located in an older building in the heart of downtown Juneau. Room small with 2 twin beds, room clean, beds comfortable and plenty of hot water. We had a warm spell the end of August, there is no AC, but most hotels in Alaska do not need AC. Opening the window cooled down the room. Covid is causing a lot of business to be short staffed, the Baranof is no exception. Staff were warm and welcoming and went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. Our waitress at breakfast was the assistant hotel manager, she apologized for being short staffed and was doing an outstanding job to make sure the restaurant was open for guests. The cook came out of the kitchen to serve the food. All of the employees were on double duty. I noticed the front desk clerk worked a 12 hour shift. Hopefully the BW home office recognizes their dedicated employees.

"Pleasant Staff and Wonderful Breakfast!"
creightonr2016, 29 Août 2021

I had a quick (one night stay) at the Baranoff. The location is wonderful, as are the helpful staff, and restaurant. My only complaint, was the lack of soundproofing in the walls. I could almost hear the word-for-word conversational tone in the room next door. Otherwise, it was a nice stay!

"Only for the strong"
Teric0607, 28 Août 2021

Room was dated and extremely worn. Poor temperature control. Services very limited due to COVID of course. Bartender was great, everyone else seemed to be unhappy we were there. The cherry on top was the lack of an elevator and checking out from the 7th floor! One elevator was down all week and the remaining elevator went down apparently overnight before we left. I would recommend staying elsewhere if you want comfortable accommodations in Juneau.

"Pricey, Dated, a Place to Sleep Downtown"
R9634JKdonm, 27 Août 2021

The hotel is very dated but charges premium rates. The hotel is under renovation though I saw no active work ongoing during my several visits. The sign stating the hotel was undergoing renovation was stained, wrinkled and faded. Our room for the first couple days was dark and old though one step above wires hanging from the ceiling. Room was quiet and generally clean. When we returned for one night 10 days later we were assigned a room on the 7th floor. Earlier we stayed on the 4th floor and used stairs when the single operable elevator was available. This time it was the 7th floor so a lack of a reasonably available elevator was more impacting. I believe the room had been renovated though done by a matures. The sink had been moved into the very small bathroom making it very cramped. The door to the bathroom opened inward causing a 3 way collision between the shower door, the bathroom door and the toilet. To get into the shower your enter the batthroom, close the bathroom door and move to the narrow space between the toilet bowl and shower to make room for the shower door to open for you. Reverse procedure to exit room. The hotel staff were very easy to deal with and accommodated to our request to store extra luggage while we were waiting for a room to open. We wanted to head into town to eat without lugging suitcases.

"A little dated but great location"
sccrref, 17 Août 2021

The cruise we were on put us up the night before and we stayed 1 night after. Staff super helpful.- from local tips to allowing us to store luggage to getting room ready early. It's just a little dated. Rooms lacked charm. However, no issues with wifi, room was clean and shower was great.

"Average Hotel - Superior Location"
goodinfo, 16 Août 2021

Stayed here for three nights - while we visited Juneau. The hotel is old - and the most recent update probably occurred around 1980. The lobby and room was clean, the front desk staff was courteous, relatively efficient but extremely helpful. Our two rooms were also clean, the beds were comfortable - there was plenty of hot water and the water pressure was more than sufficient. All of the electrical outlets worked and the wi-fi was good. There were two elevators, both working so the wait for an elevator was not excessive. The rooms were fairly priced; however, I made the reservations two months in advance. The concierge in the lobby was very helpful in providing tourist information and obtaining tickets to local tours at the last minute. The most standout asset this hotel has is its location - right on the main street (Franklin) about four short "shopping blocks" from the port area/central meeting place for all tours. When compared to other more modern hotels in Juneau the Baranof stands out due to its location. If I were in the area again, I would stay in the Baranof again - just for the location. Recommend others stay here also.

"Tired and understaffed"
OntheRoadMom, 10 Août 2021

Centrally located to downtown shops, and with free parking out back and decent WiFi, the hotel has some points to recommend it. And the manager came up to give us a primer on the finicky TV. On the other hand we were looking for historic and charming but the decor is really just tired and sad. While it's been many, many months since we all learned that fomite transmission of COVID is nearly impossible, there was no housekeeping for a two night stay. Bed not made, trash not dumped, no coffee refilled, no fresh towels. The room was TINY. And we are in a COVID surge now but there are no signs telling people to wait for the next elevator and the elevators do not allow for social distancing. Plus it is a tall hotel so you will likely need to take an elevator. I suggest staying elsewhere.

"Baronof..a hotel with a history"
dcpostman, 06 Août 2021

The hotel is nice considering the limited choices in Juneau. It's been a hotel since 1938 and is a bit dated. The front desk clerk desk told me lots of stuff has happened at the Baronof going back to the days when lots of Russians stayed there during the Juneau mining days before Alaska statehood happened. He also said Richard Nixon stayed there with his daughter many many years ago.

"Overpriced"
bs0549, 27 Juillet 2021

I will not stay here again. I booked two rooms for three nights online. Two queen rooms with refrigerator and microwaves. My friend's room had the fridge, microwave and air conditioning. When I asked about these amenities for the second room as requested, a very snarky young women said this hotel doesn't go by what is booked online. And that she was giving us an upgrade for one room but not the second. The hotel were booked the rest of our stay and couldn't switch my room. And yet we paid the same for both rooms. My room was quite stuffy. I couldn't get the window open for fresh air. Walls thin, I could hear neighbors alarm clock going off. I had to go downstairs for toilet paper and coffee pods. I asked for a 1/2 hour late check out, because of our flight schedule, and was told this hotel doesn't allow late check out. Parking in back of the hotel was risky. No lane markings, cars parked crookedly, strange men hanging around the lot. Ladies beware if you park behind the hotel.

"Older hotel, good location, comfy bed"
49amia, 21 Juillet 2021

This is an older hotel located in the heart of downtown so great location for walking around the village and 5 min walk to the harbor. The room layout was kind of funky. We had a separate room kitchen with a door which was nice for the extra space and ability to make a few simple meals. There was also a separate walk in closet with a door which was nice to spread out our gear rather than all over the floor of the bedroom. Bathroom was very small and tight. They have a restaurant that serves breakfast but we did not eat there at all. There is also a bar with kitchen service for dinner. We tried to eat there but the kitchen was closed on the Monday night we tried to get dinner. We did get drinks there and the bartender was good at mixed drinks. The service is interesting. We tried to get the radiator heater running to dry out our wet boots and when it wouldn't come on they brought us up a space heater. If you want room service make sure to request at the front desk. Hit or miss if you just put out the door hanger. It was fairly humid during our stay and we opened the windows for air. The many ravens living in downtown Juneau started their daily vocals pretty early and they are LOUD. Also some random noise from the street on the weekend nights as there are a few bars on the block (it is downtown). It's not the Ritz, but not a bad place for the price and location.

"Baranof Downtown Juneau"
Charla N, 18 Juillet 2021

This is an older property. If you understand that right up front, you'll find it charming, as we did. They've done a decent job of updates to the rooms and the beds and pillows are very nice. Restaurant and bar were fun. Small menu, but large portions-we never had a "bad" meal. Property is perfectly located and within "walking distance" of most shops, activities, restaurants and pick-up places for excursions.

"Great Location"
Beachy2SC, 14 Juillet 2021

Historic hotel that is a little dated. Great location. First night my toilet didn't flush. I had to go to lobby and use the public restroom. The next morning maintenance was not able to fix my toilet - quite a nuisance since I had unpacked. Ultimately I was fortunate as I was able to view the midnight 3rd-4th of July fireworks over the channel from my new room's window. No AC which I understand is the norm for Juneau- it was hot in the room so I opened the window. Street noise loud enough that I needed earplugs to sleep. I watched the 4th of July parade a block from the hotel. No option for late checkout even though I was willing to pay for the convenience. If I am ever in Juneau again I would stay here.

"Very accomodating General Manager"
Gpatrizio, 06 Juillet 2021

We spent 3 days at this hotel conveniently located in downtown Juneau. We had a problem with the room and spoke to Aimon Indoung who heard our problem and was extremely accommodating to help us. I was very impressed with how swift they dealt with our problem and provided us a resolution to make up for the problem. This is customer service at its best. Aimon did a great job here listening and then reacting. I can't compliment her enough for her excellent customer service. Thank you Aimon again.

"Needs work."
JohnP13147, 03 Juillet 2021

We stayed at the Baranof twice. Our first time we got a nice large room. The second time we were assigned a smaller room, with a queen bed, when we requested a king. The room NEEDS to be refreshed. The wallpaper has been patched and seams are spreading. There was only one accessible electric outlet in the room, and one in the bathroom.

"Post COVID vacation"
274caryb, 30 Juin 2021

The hotel was advertised as historic, but the rooms were very clean but quite small and outdated. Bar was also closed for lack of staff in the evening. Front desk staff were helpful and accommodating.

"Odor, Noise, and no amenities"
kmcgillen2021, 30 Juin 2021

Stagnant smell, as no airflow had been threw the room in 50 years. I was told multiple times that my room should have a fan (no AC) and I had to explain multiple times that it did not have a fan. Which they said they would get me a fan all night. Never got a fan. Had the window open to get air flow and because the room was 80 degrees. Downtown location is great until you try to get sleep with the window open. Worst sleep I have had in years. We checked out the next day.

"Hotel Baranof needs nearly todal upgrading"
Michparis, 29 Juin 2021

Spent 5 days in Juneau , late june 2021. I had stayed at the Baranof in 2018, things have gone down the hill since then. However the hotel is scheduled to close sept 2021 for upgrading and that's good because a 1929 hotel deserves to be preserved

"Great location for walking"
Jessica B, 27 Juin 2021

The hotel was in good repair, bed was comfortable. In room coffee was a local brand which was a nice touch. Towels were new and nice. Parking is an issue, be prepared to hunt for a spot and or not find one near the hotel. Staff was responsive to our needs.

"'BW Signature'?? I think not.."
cattmandu, 14 Juin 2021

Ok, I understand this is an old hotel just getting back up to speed after the pandemic closures, but there is simply no excuse for the many issues we experienced during our one night stay. Door lock on first room did not work. Told to 'play with the handle'.. not acceptable, asked for a different room. Second room: shower completely inoperable. Moved to third room. No A/C, so must open window, but in doing so must tolerate noisy machinery outside of window. Drain in sink would not drain, but weren't about to change rooms again, so we tolerated it for the one night. TV was a pain in the A to use. No adjustments to rate offered for the inconvenience(s). No microwave or fridge, which I would expect from any BW, but especially for one in it's "Signature" collection, and at these prices. Breakfast? An extra $18.95. Lobby coffee? Undrinkable. Beautiful art deco lobby and nice staff, but if you must stay downtown, do yourself a favor and spend the extra cash for the Four Points Sheraton down the street(unavailable at the time of our stay). Better yet, stay at the Country Lane BW in Mendenhall Valley. Cheaper and much nicer digs.

"Expected better from a BW Signature Collection Property"
Asheen J, 14 Juin 2021

So we had booked for 3 individuals and everytime they cleaned the room and on check-in the room only had 2 towels. The floor wasn't vacuumed when we arrived so had various lint and other pieces of trash on them. Hotel shower would lose hot water very quickly and the water was lukewarm at best. The website doesn't give the square footage of the room and due to the photo angles you can't tell so we were very surprised at how small the room was. The breakfast was expensive at $20 for what is normally a free breakfast at other Best Western properties.

"It is an old hotel built in 1939. It is clean and the staff are helpful."
MSEm2, 13 Juin 2021

Staff at Baranhof were helpful. Had breakfast this AM. cost $18.95 + tax per person at the buffet. Breakfast Service 6:30 am to 10 AM. If you want a hot breakfast, be there at 6:30 am. We arrived at 8:30 am. Eggs with cheese were very dried out. It looked like nothing had been replenished since it was put out at 6:30 am. Scrambled eggs with cheese, plain scrabbled eggs, bacon, 2 types of sausage and fried potatoes. Also had 2 types of bread to toast, 1 danish, and pound cake. Front desk said breakfast NOT INCLUDED with the ACL booking. I will not pay $18.95 plus tax for breakfast again. Several other breakfast places within 1 block of hotel. Ice not available on 3rd floor, told to check for ice machine on 4th floor, if not there then try the 6th or maybe on the 7th floor. The Baranhof Best Western does NOT have a shuttle. If you are arriving by plane at the airport you will need to take a taxi. Payment was CASH ONLY, no credit cards. for taxi. I would not stay in the hotel again.

"Bad rooms but nice location"
skygirl1974, 08 Juin 2021

Terrible bad, very uncomfortable. Bathroom sink was always clogged. Had to call someone up to fix tv. Terribly loud street noise! Ask for room facing the back. Granted it was their first day of opening back up so their was lots of kinks to work out. Never received a discount after the complaints.

"Motel With a Nice View"

More like a 9 story motel. Great location right in downtown. Higher rooms offer spectacular views of the surrounding mountains. My double bed was comfortable and the room was clean. If you aren't planning on spending any time in the room, this is a good choice. Heritage Coffee shop attached to the lobby serves a great cup of coffee.

My friends and i came to Juneau to go to eagle crest and ski and snowboard. We were so happy to see that the view from our window was the mountains we'd be on tomorrow. We were there when it was very very cold outside but the room and lobby were so cozy, which was super nice after being outside all day. We will definitely be back soon!

"Great food and Vibe!"
lovetrucks005, 06 Février 2020

The restaurant opened at 6:30am for breakfast which was amazing, since a lot of other places ive been to made me wait until 8am. i'm an early riser and like a good meal before i start working so this was big to me. And, the food was actually delicious (unlike most hotel food). Also, the wait staff looked like they actually enjoyed their jobs. :)

surferdduuddee123, 04 Février 2020

Fantastic location.walking distance to Cafe, Shops, Eateries, Convention Center. Room is clean, bathroom is clean(very important) Staff is friendly and always there to help and answer questions. Love me 1st experience her in Juneau AK.

"Great Location"
Rhonda D, 24 Décembre 2019

Comfortable old class feel, my room is comfy, bed super comfortable and clean. Views of downtown, located near everything i need, gift stores, restaurants, night life! Thanks Baranof for a very nice stay!

"Decent hotel close to shopping and restaurants."
Rachael H, 13 Décembre 2019

The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and professional. The hotel is clean and nice. This is not a luxury hotel, but the beds are comfy and you have everything you need. The only reason I gave it 4 stars rather than 5 is because the renovations taking place are pretty noisy. The workers do not start until after 8 am, but I'm on vacation and would have liked to sleep in a little later.

"Great improvement!"
myinfoo, 02 Décembre 2019

I am glad the hotel got a new management team! You can definitely feel and see it. The stuff is attentive and friendly, the restaurant's menu got some very attractive items, the lobby it updated. I am excited to see what's coming up next! Oh, and i forgot to mention the location! Right downtown, you can't beat that.

"Great ambiance!"
Marygtravel, 29 Novembre 2019

This hotel was overall very welcoming with a warm ambiance. It made staying near the Juneau downtown area that much cozyer! I would definitely recommend it to friends and family. Hoping to visit again sometime soon!

"Excellent Service"
Tcastillo101, 28 Novembre 2019

I stayed here with my husband for a couple of days & I must say everyone was so kind & professional, Excellent location & amazing food. The hotel was very clean, comfortable & up-to-date. I highly recommend this hotel.

"Great Service"
Crussell907, 27 Novembre 2019

Can't say anything bad about this hotel, super friendly staff an a good bar! If you go to the restaurant ask for Holly she was very friendly an had great service. Had a wonderful experience an highly recommend the Baranof.

"Comfortable Hotel"
lbjt, 17 Novembre 2019

We had been on our sailboat for 2 months and wanted a change of scenery! Comfortable bed, hot showers! A little noisy due to the street noise but great staff! Great gin bar straight across the street!

"Great service"
todd k, 15 Octobre 2019

Romo, in the Gold room simply gives the best service in town. Make sure to stop for breakfast and get some good recommendations on hiking. He also makes a mean oatmeal and checks to make sure it's the right consistency- talk about service! Thank you Romo!

"Fine. Needs serious update"
WiscPedalGal, 25 Septembre 2019

Despite all the negative reviews, this hotel is fine. Nothing special, and in need of a serious update, but nothing horrible either. The rooms are VERY small. I stayed here at the end of a tour, and had a roommate assigned to me. We had trouble maneuvering around each other with two suitcases, but it was only for one night. The place is clean and convenient to everything downtown. What it needs is some fresh paint in lighter colors. They must have been going for a look like the surrounding forest, because it's all wood, dark green, darker neutral colors, etc. Lightening things up would really help, but that doesn't really impact my ability to sleep or eat or shower. It just makes it look dark and sad. Same goes for the rooms. They need some fresh paint to make them LOOK cleaner. And maybe some new towels. The ownership has recently changed. It is now part of the Best Western family. No idea if they are going to do any rehab. I'm guessing they get most of their business from cruise lines before and/or after the actual cruise. So they probably don't have much incentive to pour money into the hotel, since people get their rooms as part of a package. the front desk staff were OK, but not all that helpful when I asked a few questions. Not rude, but also not apparently eager to help, as is normal at most downtown/business hotels.

"Bad room, bad service"
Malice6, 23 Septembre 2019

Well our cruise line made this "free hotel night" part of our package for the second time. In the 10 years since we stayed here before the hotel has gone downhill. Don't expect to be greeted or helped with luggage when you arrive. Stand in line to check in by a barely polite staff. Carry your own bags to your room. We had a room facing the afternoon sun and we arrived on a warm sunny day so the room was hot. Would you believe they have no air condition anywhere in hotel? They provide a small electric fan and the windows open. Both inadequate. With windows open you get street noise and street facing rooms are across the street from a popular bar where people gather outside all night long. Every conversation outside can be heard in the room. The only consolation was that the food served in the bar was fairly good bar food. The other public areas are dingy and gloomy. Switching hotels was not an option because of the several large mega cruise ships in town. Best Western should be ashamed to put their brand on this old loser.

"Nice hotel, shame about the reception staff"
Trencherman101, 18 Septembre 2019

On arrival we were informed by reception that they had no record of our reservation. Even when I showed the reception staff my Booking.com confirmation letter there response was, "You'll have to phone Booking.com". I asked if they could do it and was told I'd have to do it as they didn't have a pin code despite it being on the confirmation letter. The two girls on reception were very surly and showed a complete lack of empathy towards customers who had spent a long day traveling and were potentially faced without a room for the night. I rang Booking.com who were exceptionally helpful and quickly resolved the matter. When I went back to reception there was no apology and I was made to feel that it was all my fault. For a Best Western Signature Collection hotel the reception staff need better training in customer relations. On the positive side our room was comfortable and being on the ninth floor offered excellent views over Juneau. The hotel is also very central for sightseeing. Because of our experience at reception we declined to use any of the hotels facilities so unable to comment on restaurants etc.

"Keli's Concierge "
Raleigh C, 10 Septembre 2019

We found Keli's Concierge through an article about Juneau on the Thrillist. We were staying in the Mendenhall area and contacted Keli through email to book a whale watching tour and a Halibut Fishing trip. After doing some research for these excursions on my own I didn't really find anything great or for the price I wanted. I sent Keli and email with the time price and amount of people in my party and Keli set everything up with great tour companies! We seriously enjoyed every tour that she booked for us and would recommend her for anybody looking to book a tour while staying in Juneau. Keli took the time to give us detailed instructions as to where to go and what time to leave our Airbnb and she checked up with us to make sure everything was going well.

"Nice Hotel Downtown"
adamsbw, 03 Septembre 2019

Staff is great, and has a great downtown location convenient for visiting all the local attractions . The staff was also very helpful and friendly. Good breakfast in the lobby restaurant. Would highly recommend

"Cleanliness issues- Bed bugs"
SassyParalegal, 26 Août 2019

While the hotel itself has wonderful staff, the cleanliness of this place is atrocious. I am covered in welts due to bed bugs. It is disgusting and uncomfortable and most importantly, should not have happened. I noticed that the sheets were never changed. The same stained remained all 3 nights I was here, so I'm wondering what else isn't being cleaned here. I'd be very cautious. I will be following up with the manager to discuss this. Unacceptable.

"Disappointing hotel stay in Juneau"
annaclarke01, 26 Août 2019

Stayed 2 nights at this hotel and was very disappointed with the quality of the hotel. It badly needs either a refurbishment or at a minimum, a good and thorough clean. Rooms were tired, carpet dirty, walls were marked and so thin we were woken by the sounds of the toilet flushing in the next room, not to mention being able to hear full conversations coming from the next room. The bathroom had mould over the shower and a cracked basin. Unfortunately the service was not of a high standard either with the exception of the staff in the restaurant. The front desk staff were disinterested and seemed as though they didn't want to be there. Restaurant staff were welcoming and helpful although would recommend a la Carte menu for breakfast rather than the buffet .

"Great location and fabulous "old time hotel" feeling"
sharonmY413GK, 26 Août 2019

We stayed here 2 nights. The location is perfect. Close to everything but far enough away from the cruise ships so that you get a Juneau "feel". The concierge is awesome...very helpful pointing us in the right directions to go for the best touring and least expensive options. Our room was quiet, clean...just loved the "feel" of this old hotel.

"Many Stays here"
286natec, 18 Août 2019

I am always happy to stay here. The beds are upgraded, top floor Channel side rooms have the best views. Right in the heart of downtown. Many things to explore nearby. Good parking provided by hotel. Bar within.

"Definitely In Need of a Refresh"
MSNview, 17 Août 2019

The Baranof Hotel is indisputably in a great location in downtown Juneau and has a responsive, attentive staff. That's the good news. Here's the bad news......it is sorely in need of a refresh overhaul. The rooms, the bathrooms, and the lobby area are all serviceable......but that's it. And the “fitness room” is perfunctory at best(with some equipment which was out of use). Old, dated, tired......those are the words that come to mind to describe the hotel. The hotel has a great deal of potential but to realize it the owners need to invest to bring it up to today's standards.

"Comfortable But Old"
elizabethmV6916FL, 17 Août 2019

We stayed one night at the Baranof Downtown as part of our cruise package. It's hard for older hotels to compete with updated places that are easier to clean and generally bright and shiny but this place is trying hard to do just that. The location is perfect if you don't have wheels and want to see the sights. My husband and I were able to walk around Juneau, see the Capital, the waterfront and take in a meal all within a short walk from the hotel. We didn't have a parking problem because we didn't have a car...nice. Our room was “upgraded” when we arrived so we had one with a sitting room, bedroom, dining area and full kitchen. The room was on the front of the building and I expected noise from the street but by the time we went to bed, the street was quiet and sleeping wasn't a problem. The suite needed some instructions about using the tv's. There were two TV's and I couldn't get either one of them to work! I'm sure they did work but I just wasn't pressing the proper combination of buttons on the two remotes. That's okay, there probably wasn't anything I wanted to watch anyway. We had books. We had a nice king sized bed but it kind of sagged toward the middle. I didn't have any problems with the cleanliness. The baggage was picked up in the morning for transport to our ship, we ate breakfast in the little coffee shop attached to the hotel and we went off happy campers. We could have eaten at the hotel but we didn't want that big a breakfast and we thought it was a little pricy.

"Not what I thought I was getting!"
ChelseaL1985, 14 Août 2019

The hotel claims to have free parking, but all of the spots in the small lot are taken by vans and tour bus cars. No street parking overnight. Drove around and around, up and down crazy winding one way streets. Parked in a lot close by, but all cars have to be moved by 8 AM. Not what I want to do on my vacation! Rooms are super old and outdated. Tiny rooms with no amenities. Walls are paper thin, you can hear everything! And No AC…even though it's Alaska, it's about 80 degrees right now. FYI rooms look about 20 years older than they do in the photos. Beware! Would not stay here again. Do not recommend.

"Cleaning Issues"
Fancynancy03, 11 Août 2019

Great hotel with a beautiful 2 bedroom unit. However, we did have issues with the cleaning service. Even though you would put the card on the bed for a sheet change, the bed was sometimes made without the sheet change. The bathroom became a hit or miss. The in-room coffee machine had an old coffee pod left in it from the previous guests. We stayed at the hotel for a week and they missed a cleaning entirely one day. Otherwise, the location was perfect, and considering the other hotels in Juneau, the Baranof is a great find. The elevator music is awful, but did make us laugh everytime we entered. The front desk staff was always friendly and helpful. A thumbs up to Brandon Woody and Lee Wilson for great customer service!

"Welcoming and friendly"
DrDreidle, 09 Août 2019

After a very long day of travel from Florida Brandon W. at the front desk was very friendly and welcoming. He even gave me a breakfast voucher for the next morning. Besides the great location the staff are friendly and helpful.

"Showed up Tired. Left Refreshed."
Sean D, 06 Août 2019

There was a snag with our reservations being booked through a third-party and the manager took special care to turn a potentially bad situation into an excellent experience. I'm really appreciative of the effort in finding positive solutions and making our stay peaceful and rewarding. Thank you!

"Good location less than average quality"
jeremy119, 06 Août 2019

Great location. We were able to walk to everything downtown. Breakfast was also great. The staff was also generally nice. However, The walls in the hotel were paper thin. Pillows were subpar along with the rest of the hotel amenities.

"Excellent"
667shelleym, 05 Août 2019

If you want a modern chain hotel, this isn't for you. This older hotel is clean and has friendly, helpful staff. The A/C is personal oscillating fans, but with the windows open, that's all we needed with temps in the 70's (heat wave in Juneau). We had a 1-king suite, which was a corner room, had 3 windows where we could get cross-breezes, and a view straight down Franklin Avenue, which is one of the main tourist shopping streets. The room was perfect for us...our teenager had the main room (TV, desk, table, chairs, couch, etc.) to herself. Parking for our rental car was free and right behind the building. The location is at the far end of the tourist area, so everything is close by, but you're not in the thick of it. There is a Heritage Coffee (their version of Starbucks) right inside, and an outdoor “food truck” type set up next door with a crepe place, ice cream place, fish taco place, etc. The wharf, shops, excursion pick-ups, etc are within easy walking distance. It's not fancy, but it's more authentic than some modern chain. A high end cruise (Lindblad/National Geographic) starts here, so it's highly thought of by them. They do have a fitness room, a bar and a restaurant but we didn't use them. This hotel was a great home base for our week in Juneau! If we are ever back here, I'm coming back! Note: The entrance is very easy to miss. If you come in on Franklin Street, turn away from the water onto Second Street and the first drive on the right is the parking lot behind the hotel. The entrance is right beside the Heritage Coffee between 1st and 2nd Street.

"This employee deserves special recognition and deep appreciation!"
Myrna A, 04 Août 2019

Today we ate at the Baranof Hotel. Afterwards I was coming out of the restroom when someone entered, surprising me such that I accidentally threw away a dental mouthpiece I desperately needed. When I realized it wasn't in my purse, I mentally tried to figure out when I last saw it. I called the Baranof Hotel. Brandon Woody answered the phone, knew this was important to me, went to look where I last knew I had it and found the bag in the garbage!!!!!! I had accidentally thrown it away with the hand towel. When he told me that, I immediately drove back to pick it up. We are on travel status and our travels would have been altered had I not found that mouthpiece. He deserves to be recognized for going that extra mile. Thank you!

"Overall Good Place"
467toddm, 01 Août 2019

Very nice staff and rooms are very clean. The only drawback is no a/c but then again you are in Alaska. I little updating would be nice. Breakfast was very good little expensive $21 a person for a buffet.

"Great location!"
737denisei, 31 Juillet 2019

The first thing we noticed about our room was the amazing view of the water and the cruise ships. It's also walking distance to all the best restaurants and a fun little shopping district. The rooms were clean and modern and the one meal we had in the hotel restaurant was delicious.

"issues with room cleanliness"
Eric J, 31 Juillet 2019

The employees that work the evening shift were great. Very responsive, friendly, and helpful. The ladies working the bar were great. Our first night we pulled back the covers and found food crumbs in the bead. The front desk quickly ran up new sheets. I went to take a shower and on of the towels was wet another towel looked dirty. Did they clean anything in our room? The next day we found a glass fragment (half pea sized) on the floor. Now I am really wondering if this room was completely missed by the cleaning crew. I spoke with the front desk in the morning (no manager on site) and the lady did not seem to care. I checked back in with the front desk in the evening. Again no manager, but the gentleman behind the desk apologized over and over and said he would let the management know. We left the next day and never heard from anyone. Great location, but we are really QUESTIONING THE CLEANLINESS of the room.

"Great Customer Service"
B-Happy907, 31 Juillet 2019

The thing about this hotel is there are many different room types. It's not just your standard room and because of this I believe people have much different experiences. But what I want to talk about today is the experience I had with their front desk. They truly went above and beyond to accommodate me. I was the host of a two-day business event taking place at their property and when I woke up on the morning of the first day, I realized, I forgot my hair straightener, (which for my frizzy hair is just as essential to me as a tooth brush). The drug store didn't open until 9 a.m. and they most likely didn't carry any. So I called down to the front desk in crisis mode to see if they by chance had one in-house. Danielle assisted me and let me know of a grocery store that was open and might be able to accommodate my needs, but that it was a bit of a far walk. I decided it was worth the distance. As I was leaving the hotel to make the jaunt, I stopped to thank her for the info. She suggested that I call before making the trek and even called for me - - brilliant! Turns out they did not have any straighteners. It was 7 a.m. and I was seriously disappointed. This is where Danielle's customer service went to a whole new level, above and beyond anything I could have hoped for. She told me that she got off work at 8 a.m. and would run home and get one of hers to loan me and would deliver to my room before 9 a.m. I couldn't have been more grateful - truly saved the day. She assisted me with other more tangible business needs throughout my stay, always with a smile and as if it was her pleasure. The pleasure was all mine. Thank you to everyone at Baranof for their great service and accommodations and especially to Danielle for turning a bad hair day into an experience I will always look back on with gratitude that there are still good people in this world, willing to help without expecting anything in return. Bravo!

"An unsettling experience"
nwhinney, 28 Juillet 2019

The hotel is showing signs of needing an upgrade. The rooms are very small and pokey, the carpets are worn and tired, the fittings in the rooms need maintenance and there was no tea maker as advertised. However the wifi was good and the concierge helpful. The bar restaurant was short staffed so it took some time to be served. The worst side was the reception. Although we were booked for two nights, they had apparently marked our room as vacant for the second night and we had an unwanted visitor at 1.00am. We did not receive our wake up call because we had fallen off their list. The Alaskan ferry strike was known about the afternoon before we left but they said they could not find us because they did not know what room we were in to tell us. So we were told when we checked out and went to the airport instead of the ferry terminal at 2.30am. An altogether very unsatisfactory experience.

"A very covenient hotel"
ioan_wilson, 24 Juillet 2019

When we arrived the receptionist told us that our travel agent had cancekked our room. Panic! no need as she got us a room very quickly. Our room was comfortable and clean with a view of the surrounding hills. We can certainly recommend it. All the staff we encountered especially the front desk were most helpful

"Comfortable bed. Terrible wifi"
65KevinB, 16 Juillet 2019

Four night trip, was pleased it had a small kitchen. Cupboards a bit dated, microwave old and tired (breaker kept tripping when I used it). Nice bathroom, overall clean and comfortable. Loved the bed. Terrible wifi! The guest wifi network would show available only intermittently. When I would click on it, I tried multiple times to login with the password they gave me on the card but it said wrong password. One time I was successful but didn't stay connected long and then it was back to intermittent network and then back to wrong password repeatedly. Almost like they have a router with a different password but same network name. I was trying to use iPhone and iPad to connect to wifi. I stayed on 5th floor near elevator so I was central and not at the end of the hall. I called the front desk and she suggested I open my door and try to connect. I thought well I don't want to have to stand in the hall to use wifi... but I tried it anyway and still just said wrong password. I gave up on trying to use wifi this trip and will request a different hotel next trip.

"Loved Staying at the Baranof!"
Stephen B, 15 Juillet 2019

It would be difficult to have a better experience than my stay at the Baranof! Great view from my room, comfortable accommodations, the bed was excellent. I have stayed at the Baranof twice and have enjoyed the experience both times. Solid value

"awesome place"
Zharajai I, 15 Juillet 2019

I stayed at the Baranof in the month of February! The weather was snowy and cold but the Baranof made my vacation timing worth it. The views that this hotel offers are so beautiful. The hotel has a vintage feel to it, and from what I have heard from various people is that there are some hauntings that have occured. I did not experience any ghosts but i definitely got the feeling it could happen. I recommend going to the bubble room, the bartenders are amazing and friendly, and I loved their food(one thing i got was a brie dish with mushrooms, i forgot what it was called but so good). All of the staff was courteous and felt very much at home my whole stay.

"Great location, but otherwise just okay"
ChristyJE, 11 Juillet 2019

We stayed at the Baranof during some of the highest temps in Juneau (80-85 degrees). Not surprisingly since it's Alaska, they didn't have air conditioning; however, our room was a sweat box. Even though we had a fan, it never cooled the room down, so sleep was very difficult. The room was also quite small. It was in a great location, however, and we could walk basically anywhere we wanted to go.

"Worst experience at Front desk!"
Jules_Peji, 09 Juillet 2019

came at 8:30am bec of early flight arrival and politely requested if at all possible to check in as soon as 1 room comes available. I kept checking 3x with staff but was told they are verifying rooms with housekeeping. At the same time I followed up with my company/agency and was told the same. I noticed they gave rooms to people who came after me. I was finally given a room at 3:15pm but I had to ask for it again - they did not even bother inform me and I was in the hotel lobby the whole time. No consideration or apologies given by staff (Lee and Hazel forgot that I have been waiting for a room since I came from a 24hr flight from the Philippines) or even a "thank you" for waiting 6 hours. I will not recommend this hotel to family, friends and colleagues. They do not know how to prioritize checking in of guests.

"Nice for Alaska"
PaulL987, 04 Juillet 2019

Decent hotel, with a good bar in Juneau. Not pricey but comfortable. Very helpful staff. Good downtown location. Slept well in comfortable bed. Good view toward the street. Lots of stores, restaurants and more nearby.

"Nothing to write home about"
Jill F, 03 Juillet 2019

Stayed 1 night at the end of a small ship cruise. We had lunch arranged but there was far too little food for everyone even thoug they knew how many were expected. Check-in was supposed to to 3 pm but many were still waiting after that. Dinner was mediocre at best.

"Cozy but lacking"
Katie C, 27 Juin 2019

I booked online for one night, but soon after realized I would need two. I called and changed my reservation through Orbitz. Got a confirmation email. Arrived and they did not have my updated reservation. So I forwarded the email and thought it was resolved. Got to the room. There was a party going on next door. Requested a room cha due to the noise level at the midnight hour. Done. Left for an 8 mile intense glacier hike early in the morning. After which I had two missed calls from the front desk that said I'd checked out and left my belonging in the room. I called back immediately explained again that I had a reservation for two nights that had been paid for. They said they would check into it and call me back. Ultimately was corrected. The coffee from the downstairs shop was good. NO refrigerator in the room so our bathroom sink had to be turned into a makeshift ice chest. No AC. But in all fairness it is AK. When the window is open to cool off there is a lot of street noise from nightlife.

"Basic but adequate"
899CJK, 23 Juin 2019

Perfectly OK hotel but nothing special - room was quite small as was the bathroom - but it was clean. There was no kettle in the room - only a coffee maker. As I don't drink coffee we asked if we could have a kettle to make tea - but were told they didn't have any! Staff not particularly helpful or friendly. Breakfast buffet was expensive so we ate out. But good central location.

"Quality hotel downtown"
20_times_ATW, 16 Juin 2019

I stayed for a week at the Baranof. I got myself a suite because I could not imagine spending so much time in a standard room. From my suite, I had a good view of the dock with the cruise ships and sea planes. You can easily walk to the cruise terminal and all restaurants and shops downtown. The hotel seems to be one of the better hotels in Juneau. I did not eat at the restaurant and at $22 I thought the breakfast buffet was more than going out to a café. The suite was comfortable and spacious. It was clean and staff was friendly. The desk has a chair suitable for working. The bathroom has space for my toilet bag. There is no fan in the bathroom so it takes some time for steam and smells to dissipate. The room is awfully hot, which seems a waste of energy. The outside temperature varied from 8ºC to 13ºC my entire stay. I turned off the heating and opened the windows during my entire stay, but was still able to sit comfortably in a t-shirt in the room most of the time. The internet is problematic. There is about 5% packet loss and service will disappear for several seconds every few minutes. This sporadic behaviour is really annoying if you are sitting and trying to work. This hotel does not process customer laundry on Saturday or Sunday. If you request laundry after 08:30 on Friday, you won't get it back until Monday afternoon. That was a shock, but there is a laundromat adjacent to the hotel (turn right out of the door). The gym is small, but adequate when so few use it. The cross trainer machine was broken when I arrived and remained broken my entire stay. I think no one services the equipment!

"Clean, comfortable, BUT . . ."
NCATdayhiker, 25 Mai 2019

We stayed here at the conclusion of a small boat tour of the inland passage. Our room was clean but dated and the king bed was quite comfortable but too large for the room. There was no in-room guidebook to inform you about amenities of the hotel, a map of the hotel or the area, room service or dining area menus, etc. There is no business center where you can print boarding passes but a morning desk clerk graciously provided that service when I asked. A fellow traveler had asked the evening clerk to do the same but, though he tried, he was unable to do so. Another guest reported there was a sign on the 2nd floor that indicated a workout room, but she was unable to locate it. The breakfast buffet was ample, expensive, and the eggs were barely warm. The new owners have a lot of work to do to get this place up to speed.

"Start of the season"
iamamandaleigh, 12 Mai 2019

Although there were a few little issues with employees not knowing details about the hotel itself, we could tell they were gearing up for the busy season and bulking up on staff. The genuinely friendly interactions with them made that easy to overlook. The rooms are CLEAN and nicely updated, and are more than we expected for the price...a perfect location for exploring downtown on foot. We originally booked another hotel that had better ratings (but less reviews), and can't imagine how the other one could even be in the same ballpark as the Baranof. The attached restaurant is good and has reasonable prices, especially for the area. Walk to the tram, shops, bars, restaurants, The Wharf, etc. Jaw-dropping views are only a few blocks away!

"Decent clean place to stay "
firefighterswife65, 30 Mars 2019

We stayed with my husband while he attended a conference at this hotel. The staff was friendly, the room we had was small but clean, the room service staff were very sweet. We had our baby with us so the room for two adults would've been okay, but it was a tight fit with a stroller and baby gear. The restaurant had really good breakfasts and the servers were nice too. The last day of my husbands conference there were hors d'oeuvres and those were really great. The Heritage coffee shop attached to the building is really convenient too. I liked the art deco decor in the lobby.
