My boyfriend and I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. Our land view room was very spacious and cosy with a good sized television - all very good for the price. Bathroom was perfectly clean and modern. The staff were helpful, speedy and welcoming. We did not eat at the hotel as the breakfast was unreasonably priced for us students. The walk to Brighton pier was about 40 mins which was not what was advertised to us on the website.
This 54 room Boutique hotel is across the road from a lovely beach - right on the English Channel. It's quiet and very pleasant and it has a small FREE PARKING lot right behind the building. It's recently undergone a complete update and renovation so the rooms are nicely done and clean and new. There is a restaurant and a bar on the street floor and from our experience they are well managed, reasonably priced and the food is nicely done and service very good. Our room for our 6 night stay was referred to as a "Family Room". It was large. We had a king bed and two single beds. We were located on the front of the hotel with direct views of the sea. The bathroom was large, well equipped and appeared to be brand new with a large tub/shower, heated towel rack and lovely amenities. The hotel is only 5 stories high and the elevator is large and newly redone. THIS HOTEL IS NOT AIR CONDITIONED. However, we were there in early September and we found it quite comfortable. On one night, we kept the windows open, but there was a lot of street noise and we found we really didn't need the ventilation. Overall, we'd rate this a four star hotel and it's quite well priced as well. Enjoy your stay. The owner and his son were working in the hotel most of the time. They were quick to respond to nearly any request.
This was myself & my wife's first trip away with our 4 month old baby, and I was a little nervous about staying in a hotel with her. The hotel & staff couldn't be any more accomodating to us though, firstly we arrived late and there were no car parking spaces available. Whilst we were looking for one, the receptionist came out and very kindly moved his car out of the way so that we could park, which was a very pleasant and unexpected surprise. The room was large & had an excellent view of the sea, and the travel cot provided by the hotel was excellent also. We were made to feel very welcome essentially, and I couldn't recommend the hotel more.
Stayed in a Best Western last week in Manchester and payed £15 for a dry burger and frozen chips. Just had a plate of food worthy of an award here for under £13, plaice and beetroot, bloody delicious. Room is very nice and staff are very friendly. Car park is a bit small but there is a public car park near by
We normally try to stay at Best Western Hotels if there is one in the area if it is in the right location and this one is in a great location just across the road from the Beach in Hove and about 2 miles from the centre of Brighton with a bus stop outside the front door every 10 minutes. We had a front room 4th floor bedroom with a fantastic uninterrupted sea view ( room 37) it was a good size room for a 3 star hotel with a large bathroom and a good shower. The breakfast were first class with plenty of choice on the menu and cooked fresh to order something you don't find in many hotels these days with their heated buffets. We had booked on a bed and breakfast basis only but we also had two dinners during the stay and both times the meals were very good. There was plenty to do in Brighton with the Lanes to visit, the pier, the Volks railway the oldest in the world which runs from the pier to the marina which is the largest in Europe. The only drawback at the hotel and the reason I didnt give it 5stars and excellent is the car parking is limited and the entrance is narrow which some might find it difficult although I have a large estate car and it was fine. However there is adequate street parking very close by if no spaces are available. Well worth stayying if you are visiting the Brighton are and nore reasonable cost than the 4 and 5 star hotels although the Brighton seafront.
Second year and booked for third year clean comfortable rooms and great staff the night porter is a gem Little bit out of Brighton but we enjoy staying out of the crowded centre opposite beach with nice walks and a bus stop right outside the hotel for town also a very reasonable taxi service breakfast great too just review the quality of the ham on the eggs benedict - not nice but when I asked for it to be changed for bacon they completely replaced with no fuss Great hotel for staying in Brighton.
This hotel is positioned in Hove and currently undergoing refurbishment. The downstairs is a little drab but upstairs was lovely. The bright newly decorated corridors and the lovely rooms have been finished to a high standard. We had room no 3 which was a family room. It was bright and spacious with a very large double and two singles. It was very clean with a good sized bathroom. It boasts a lovely sea view which unfortunately we missed as the circus was in town and obscuring it. It was hot in the room and could have benefited air conditioning but the hotel did provide a fan and it was August! I would say that it is a half hour walk into Brighton with lots of restaurants nearby. There is a bus stop outside the hotel. There is a car park which was bigger than I thought it would be by reading the reviews but a very narrow drive into it. You can park on the road opposite to the hotel with is free from 8pm-9am. We would definitely stay again.
The Hotel staff are excellent and available at all times of the day and night. The hotel is in a good location, facing the sea and close to lots of bars, restuarants and ameneties. The rooms are modern, well equiped and nicely decorated.
The hotel is in Hove around a 15 minute walk into Brighton. We had a rear room over looking the car park so didn't have the sea view but also it was quite quiet. Think budget accommodation which is nice and clean and you won't be disappointed.
The hotel met our expectations, the breakfast was good and the staff were simply lovely. It is a pleasant walk away from much busier Brighton, there are many restaurants and various shopping facilities nearby. We had an exceptionally good and freshly cooked fish and chips in a little place across the road - Chippy Chips.
Staff very friendly and helpful, food good in the evening and breakfast good also, Room was very clean and comfortable and parking was free, however limited. Overall very good and have already booked a return trip
We had sea view rooms: a good size with modern bathrooms, clean and seem recently decorated/refurbished. All the staff were pleasant, cheerful and helpful. Coastliner bus stops outside and runs every 10 minutes in the day (plus a night service) for getting into Brighton or westwards to other towns. Good Continental breakfast, or pay more for full English. Restaurant had good evening meals with food and drinks at sensible prices; bar prices also sensible. Range of restaurants a short walk back from the sea. Sea view side is on a busy road: take earplugs if this is likely to bother you.
We had a delightful stay in this hotel in Hove . Staff are all incredibly welcoming and friendly . Would like to give a special mention to Dave the Night porter who went out of his way to make our stay so enjoyable . We enjoyed your card tricks too . Lovely room with balcony and sea view
Last week I stayed at the Princes Marine Hotel Hove with my son for a four night break. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and were very impressed with the friendliness of the staff. We had a large sea view family room on the third floor with a good view and although you could hear the traffic, it didn't detract from the overall experience. The breakfast was excellent and also some good evening meal choices, although limited for a gluten free diet. The hotel had a unique feel and the restaurant staff, especially Philip and Jasmin, were friendly and obliging. A very enjoyable stay and highly recommended.
The room was relatively clean, soap scum and hair on rim of sink (side facing taps), hair and scum between cistern and seat on toilet. Only found one really helpful staff member, English waitress. Asked for warmed milk both mornings, despite different requests (Hot & Warm), always came boiling. No consideration for the disabled (I am a blue badge owner), they only have 2 disabled bays, and my request prior to arrival regarding this was not answered. Not possible unload at the door as the drive through was permanetly blocked by Renault SUV. When reception was asked why a non blue badge user was in a disabled bay, she said she told him it was OK as he was leaving that day. Various price differences in the bar, especially if you paid cash. Restaurant food was nothing to write home about, I require and requested well cooked vegetables so they are soft due to problems swallowing, completely ignored. Had fish on both occasions, Sea Bass soapy, didn't flake as it should, Cod in beer batter, mushy no flavour and served on newspaper reproduction on a board, why, what is wrong with a plate? No I won't be returning
Nice hotel a couple of miles from town center which was ideal for our stay. I would advise anybody that is given room 10 to ask for a change immediately. We were staying for four nights and were woken up at 8.30am every morning with banging and drilling. Except Sunday but still the downside was we had been kept up late with noise on Saturday night. You can hear the toilets and hand dryer from the main hotel toilets from room 10. We were also woken with seagulls through the night but this is expected staying beside the seaside it was the noise from the toilets and staff that was frustrating. The positive was that Maria on reception was extremely welcoming and helpful unlike her colleague who was very blunt.
We stayed at this hotel last night and we do not have a bad word to say about it. The staff from the restaurant, reception and bar were lovely and very helpful. We had breakfast and the two that served us was brilliant and had customer service on point! We had a sea view room on the top floor,it was very clean and spacious. Definitely recommend this hotel and the price is very reasonable. Just wished they had more parking but can park across the road for a small charge. Thank you for a lovely stay ??
A good value for money hotel in Brighton! Great location and excellent breakfast! Had a twin room at the back - WiFi included, managed to park, (rare in Brighton!) Was able to check in early. Would definately return!
Stayed here for a Saturday, Sunday weekend break with friends We booked it a number of months ago as found a good deal. Arrived early Sat morning hotel has a small car park and was not surprised it was full, but you can park on the road in front of the hotel for £5-10 a day which thought was very reasonable and didn't bother moving the car just put another ticket on for the Sunday. The location of the hotel is about 2 miles from the centre of Brighton which we walked and wasn't a problem and we all felt the quieter location was worth the walk. We did have a taxi in on Sat evening and was £10 so was ok. Checked into hotel late afternoon with no probs had a good room with sea view which had been recently refurbished so was very good. All very friendly staff. Had breakfast in the morning which was excellent choices from cereals, full continental and a number of cooked options. The full English I can vouch was very good.... Would definitely use this hotel if visiting Brighton certainly ticked all the boxes.
Sadly stayed only one night between family visits in the South East. Arrived early and got parked in the very tight car park. Our room wasnt ready so we were upgraded to sea view. Lovely comfortable room on 3rd floor with great view of Hove Lawns and sea front. Nice toiletries and very clean. Friendly very helpful staff. There is a small bar with TV and small outside seating area. We didnt have an evening meal but food looked good. Good quality selection of hot & cold food at breakfast, and friendly, efficient staff. Public areas very clean. Bus stops regularly outside hotel into Brighton where a day pass is under £5.00. Also parking opposite on sea front £5.20 all day & free overnight. Easy reach of Brighton without the hustle and bustle. Pubs and restaurants in Hove a 5 -10 minute walk away. Looks average on its external photos but lovely inside. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again next time we're coming to the area.
I can hardly find words to express how much I love this hotel. Perfect, beautiful sea views in many room - especially on the awesome 5th floor. Amenities like a palace, but with a personal touch that makes it feel like hoe; extremely friendly and family run. I stayed here after being in hospital due to a broken hip. The staff could not have done more to help me in every way. Then yesterday I booked a room again for last night as a treat. - hip now- healed and better than ever again. Well, I knew that the facilities at this hotel would be great and did not ask any particular room - NEVER expected to be put up in this most glorious of rooms room on 5th floor with the most incredible bird's eye sea views and fabulous perfect amenities, even exceeding the standard of the other lovely room with sea views that I had stayed in before. Talk about doing the EXTRA for guests .- I do not think that in the combination of being immaculate and so very friendly and helpful that there is a finer hotel on this earth. Best in the world!. Fit for a Queen! even though I am just a very ordinary person. I thank you Best Western Princess Marine with all my heart. I am so overcome. I fell asleep early on the wonderfully comfortable bed -and now have woken before dawn - just waiting for the beautiful dawn and sunrise. Rosie Swale Pope MBE
This hotel is the perfect don't judge a book by its cover From the outside it does not look much but when you get inside this hotel is brilliant The reception were very friendly We had a room on the 4th floor the bedroom was very big with plenty of room we had a brilliant sea view The room had everything we needed and they even supplied a fan for us The bathroom was very big as well Breakfast was very good with a good choice The car park was small so we parked across the road outside the hotel it only cost about £5 a day we did it all on the app so didn't even have to leave the room There is a bus that stops right outside the hotel so it's easy to get to the centre of Brighton
Great location, with a lovely walk into Brighton centre. We were very impressed that there is a car park which offers free parking with your stay. The rooms are really nice...comfortable and clean. Very helpful staff and manager. We would thoroughly recommend this hotel and plan to return!
We stayed here on Friday and Saturday for the annual Festival. Chose a room on 5th Floor with balcony and sea view. Fantastic!! Room was small but very clean and quality linen and bedding. We did not try the bar or the restaurant (for either dinner or breakfast) so I can't comment. The hotel is convenient for Hove and Church Road restaurant and bars. There is a car park at the rear but if you have a large car, you might struggle to get in as it has a narrow entrance. Having said that someone had managed to get a big SUV successfully. I would definitely recommend the top floor of this hotel but I cannot really say about the restaurant and bar. If you have time, I would suggest going to Church Road some 5 minutes away, where you can have a lovely breakfast at one of the many cafés. I will definitely come back!!!
Felt lucky to get a parking space in the small car park which doesn't charge The hotel is nice and the bedroom was small but adequate I don't enjoy my meal and found service was slow Breakfast was better and staff were attentive I slept well
I'll start with the car park. Not many spaces and very narrow entrance. Be prepared to park on the road (metered). Checking in easy, room and bathroom large. Decor tired but comfy enough. Breakfast was ok (full english) but nothing special. Food and drink as you would expect, expensive however, staff were excellent, friendly and attentive. Good location.
This is a 3 star hotel and is worthy of a higher grade. The room and bathroom are both large. Quality of the bedding is good, although the bed is a little firm. Cleanliness of the room and bathroom was excellent. The management and staff make an effort to ensure a good level of standard is maintained. We only had breakfast in the restaurant but again the quality of the sausages and bacon was good and good size portions. The hotel is about 2 mile from Brighton but a 700 bus stops right outside the hotel. We had a lovely time in Brighton and would stay at the Princes Marine Hotel again.
We booked it last minute, so it was a bit pricey. I liked the room it was a fair sized room with a King sized bed and a big enough bathroom. We chose to have the sea facing room with a balcony and I liked the balcony and the view from it. The staff were friendly and check in and check out were easy and quick enough. The bar downstairs also lent us champagne glasses for the night which was v kind. The cleanliness was a bit slack and there was dust everywhere, on the furniture and the little smartphone dock was smothered with dust. They have free parking which was great.
Lovely hotel, very clean and spacious. Had a really nice homely feel to it! The staff were lovely too very friendly! The sea view was amazing and I would 100% go back think another trip there is on the cards!
Very generous sized rooms - this was very convenient as we we were on a cycling trip and there was no other secure storage for them. The staff were very helpful, breakfast was OK but not as good as the long list of offerings suggested. Convenient location on the promenade.
We were room only but everything was clean & beds were comfortable, room was a good size (32) we were at the back of the hotel above the car park & I imagine at the front you would get road noise.we didn't have breakfast in here but went to a cafe up to the left as you came out hotel think it was sunshine & arts cafe 4 out of the 5 mornings & even ate in restaurant (sini) next door to it both were amazing & everything good quality & freshly cooked. I would return to this hotel if in the area as staff were all lovely & helpful.
Hotel itself is we maintained and the rooms are modern and a good size. Don't let the outside of the building put you off! The one big let down with this hotel is the parking. What they don't tell you is that it only has about 15 spaces, and they are accessed from a very tight one way alley down the side of the hotel. If it's full then you will need to use the on road parking. Whilst not expensive, it is no return within 4 hours, so if you are staying multiple days and not using your car, you will need to drive around a bit to park
Family of 5 traveling from America. Starting off, the parking is completely awful. The small.. and by small I mean don't even try, parking lot behind the hotel is bad, very bad. I watched 2 cars hit the wall and a small building from our room. Luckily it was so packed with the maybe 10 spots they had, I had to park on the Main Street in front of the hotel. Cost was a little over £5 for 11 hours. NO AC, so if it's warm or you have an ocean view, be ready. The sun makes it bad. They do offer a little desk fan. The smell of marijuana was a little unappealing also and with the no AC it makes it stale. We walked to Brighton boardwalk, about a 35 min walk. Again, if you like bums, wannabe gangsters and drugs... that's the place for you. The beach right out from the hotel is nice and a lot more family friendly and there are a lot of places to sit and watch the water and boats. But other than that, would not recommend the area. This is the UK and locals may be used to the no AC, so for some, that may not be an issue. We are from Florida, AC is our life.
There is a limited car park but I managed to have the last available space, a lot of hotels on the front don't offer free parking so this was a great bonus and saved me £70 parking in the Lanes. The room was 5/5 - modern, a good size, fantastic light, lovely views, all the appliances you could need including a fan as there was no air conditioning. Best room I've been in in Brighton. Customer service and staff were helpful and friendly without being over the top. Note that the centre/ pier area is 40 minute walk away from this hotel. I hired a bike for £1 on the front and it takes less than 8 mins to cycle. Plus there is a bus service outside the hotel. Great stay, I would return.
Stayed at this hotel as we were visiting to go on the i360. Hotel was clean and comfortable but didn't feel like it had much character. Staff did their job but that was it , no chat or smiles just did what they had to do. But the hotel did it's job and as I said was clean and comfortable so nothing to complain about.
The hotel doesn't look too good from the outside. Public areas not great either. The corridor outside my lift by my room on the 3rd floor, was full of housekeeping stuff which looked like it had been just dumped in the hallway. Thats why I was surprised to find the room was good. Goes to show that first impressions can be wrong. Bed was comfy and clean. Enough pillows and very nice bathroom, even though the water pressure is a bit low. Car parking facilities are atrocious. If you can squeeze past the protruding walls, which you can only achieve when the car is dead straight. My rear, front and side sensors were on red and continuous noise all the time and sadly my wing mirrors had to be folded to avoid the brick walls, so no help there. Anything wider and believe me there are many wider cars, will not make it. Then you have to negotiate a 45° turn which took me at least 10 turns, into a single very tight and very short drive, only to find that there were no car parking places. How can you reverse back into a ten turn, no wing-mirror tunnel. Not possible. So I did a 20 point turn and eventually made it out of the nightmare, but only to find that car parking had been allowed in the drive, and front of the hotel, so there was nowhere to stop to unload the car. I parked down the road in a bay as there was nothing else nearby. A long walk to the hotel. Luck was with me the following day. When I went to get my car in the morning the majority of cars in all the bays had been clamped. Mine hadn't, thanking the Universe. Oh thought I should end on a positive note. The staff are lovely and helpful.
Stayed here for 2 nights with my husband and 2 teen+ kids. We had 2 rooms, ours was a double room with sea view and balcony on 5th (top) floor. Nice tidy room, as said with small balcony which was handy as the room was very hot. Although on a main road, the traffic noise was not too bad for a bank holiday weekend and did not interrupt our sleep. Bed was not too bad (probably due a new mattress soon though) but pillows were very hard almost solid. Kids twin room was on the 4th floor and looked out on to the car park. Again the room was clean, spacious and a lot cooler than ours. Fans in both rooms helped. Facilities in the rooms were good, kettle, tv etc. Staff polite and helpful. Car park is quite small although we did manage to get a space. Parking almost opposite by the bowling greens was very cheap. We didn't eat in the hotel as the breakfast is quite pricey at £12.99 per person. Spitfire cafe on the beach was very nice and quite reasonable for its location. Brighton pier quite a walk but the bus stop is right outside the hotel. Would I stay in this hotel again?? Definitely :)
Another excellent stay at Best Western Princes Marine hotel. Located on Hove seafront this hotel has a friendly atmosphere. The staff are all helpful. The hotel is light, airy and clean. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Food is top notch. Sea front rooms have beautiful views but be aware that they get hot and you need to open windows which then leads to traffic noise. Rooms at back are also nice. Fans and portable fridges available on request. Parking is no better or worse than other sea front hotels in Brighton. There are designated disabled spaces, some parking through a narrow access at the back then pay parking on sea front and adjoining streets. Once you park in car park you could leave you car and travel via regular seafront bus into town or along coast. One of the few sea front hotels to have lawns opposite rather than just concrete esplanade. Great for walks. Bowling green nearby, croquet, tennis courts and King Alfred leisure complex. This hotel is always upgrading its facilities and is about to open two ground floor disabled rooms. If they are up to the high standard of the penthouse rooms conversion they will be extremely popular. This hotel is going from strength to strength. Special thanks to Philip, head of the restaurant, who takes pride in anticpating your needs and providing great service. The owner is often on hand and very amenable to any requests.
Stayed for three nights on business. The hotel is perfectly clean and tidy and the staff friendly enough. The main observation I would make is the hotel feels like it is stuck in the 1980's, not a criticism as such and probably a reflection of it's English seaside location! Parking wasn't an issue although had to park across the road on the Promenade (free from 8pm to 9am), this would have been a problem if there on holiday. I ate in the bar one evening and the food was fine and would happily eat there again. Room spacious and comfortable and the shower powerful. Would stay again if on business but not somewhere I would take the family for any length of time primarily because of it's location. The hotel is located in Hove which I hadn't realised appears quite run done and primarily made up of apartment blocks unlike Brighton a mile or so down the road and hence there were very few places to eat / drink nearby.
the staff room and room was very nice, parking was a problem, we did get blocked in, we did have problems with noise from the room next door. the night porter, David was very helpful ,and tried to resolve the situation.. the breakfast was nice, good quality produce..we did need 2 shuffle cars so we could get ours out the next morning. I would say you cant walk into Brighton, but a taxi fare is about £10.00 each way, I would probably stay again but that is thanks to the staff I would say...........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
Very comfortable & clean hotel, good helpful staff, easy walking along sea front to Brighton, regular buses to return, parking at hotel so you can leave the car although its first come first served basis, nice stay no problems
I booked here for my aunts hen. Everyone was impressed with their rooms, and breakfast, for the extra £12 was well worth the money. Rooms comfy and clean. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend.
So nice to find an independent hotel offering high standards and value for money with a real understanding of customer service. From such helpful staff throughout to a an excellent english breakfast with great choices.
Nice and very large clean room for 4 people with a ocean view (#27). Lots of space for luggages. Small sofa and chair near window. Large and clean bathroom. Comfortable beds (mattress a bit hard). Very good hot and cold breakfast, with fruits and yogurt. Appetizers at dinner time just ok.
We stayed at the hotel for one night. We were pleasantly surprised by this hotel. Clean, big rooms. Staff are extremely attentive. No one cannot stay here without meeting Dave the night porter! Dave will ensure you have a smile in your face, with his magic tricks, jokes and stories, absolute asset to the hotel, nothing is too much trouble. Breakfast was lovely, we have booked to stay here again, in July.
Wonderful visit. Lovely hotel and helpful staff. Great room with sea view. Very spacious with excellent facilities. Great location. Right on the sea front. Parking on site. Would highly recommend. Great breakfast. Overall a vert pleasant stay.
One night stay, hotel on the seafront. Easy to find with parking at rear. Friendly staff, clean rooms, good food and decent Wi-Fi. Great location a couple of miles from the pier and centre. Would stay again if in the area.
A definite 5* for the staff in a good hotel, very friendly and welcoming. & I should especially mention Dave, the night porter with his quizzes, jokes and great company while you have a late night drink! A rear-view double room for £130 on Saturday feels a bit pricey, other rates are available, but the bed was very comfy and there was not a peep from the other residents. An excellent night's sleep!!! & breakfast was excellent. Thick bacon and local sausages! A definite one to return to
A good sized room with a clear sea view, clean, well equipped, good price and large breakfast. Philip the breakfast manager, was efficient, friendly and great at his job. All the staff were professional, and friendly. The free car park although small is a bonus in this area, bus into Brighton stops right out side or it is not too far to walk if you enjoy walking by the sea.. Perfect hotel for a weekend away at a good price.
What a lovely hotel I cannot complain about anything. I visited with my daughter and grandkids for mothersday and the family room was amasing. Large ,comfortable huge bathroom ,two sinks ,large tub ,sea views my grandkids kept smiling. Large TV with Netflix so kids loved that Staff 5 star they are so friendly and helpful all of them such good customer service We had breakfast here and again Wow good amasing but the creme de le creme is Philip who runs that restaurant with finesse what a lovely man. So attentive such quality service, a rare quality experience in all the hotels ive stayed in He's a credit to this hotel so are all the staff Thank you for a delightful stay will definately return
Was here for one night payed almost £160 for the night! On arrival I had to wait 10 minuets whilst the receptionist continued her conversation until she acknowledged me!! The room was ok bed was very comfortable, the walls are very thin!! Had a group of women chatting for 20 minuets in the hallway at 02:45 which was interesting!! I'll book the premier inn next time a better value hotel
Jon006, Manager at Best Western Princes Marine Hotel, responded to this review
Dear Chris, Thank your for your recent feedback. I will be speaking to my reception staff regarding your arrival- I can only assume he/she was making a booking but shouldn't normally take 10 mins. We have our night manager who is in charge of your safety in the hotel and to make sure your stay is an enjoyable one- if you phoned down to reception he would of come straight up to sort the situation out for you- the bedroom walls in the the hotel are solid concrete- Being a Saturday night and alcohol involved I can only presume the ladies may be a little louder than they realized! I can only apologize for your experience and its the not the norm as you will see from lots of other reviews we have. Kind Regards, Management Team
Stayed here for two nights. The breakfast was excellent and the room was large and spotless. However the room was a bit dated and could do with refurbishment. The only reason I didn't give the hotel 5 stars was it was so noisy at night. I could hear other rooms going to the loo, pulling their flush and even turning on the taps! Maybe it was just the room I had but it would put me off staying here again.
This hotel was booked by my employee for business. I was told that car parking may be difficult but I found space to the rear of the hotel. Checked in to a friendly receptionist. The rooms was very clean and bed was super large. Had food in the restaurant in the evening I can ??% recommend the Pork boasts, was delicious. Good wine and friendly staff. Would recommend this stay in Brighton. Plus it on the front so convenient for the beach!
We've been staying here for a number of years and gave never had a problem. Thus stay was for 2 nights following my completion of the Brighton Half Marathon. We had an executive room with sea view which was very clean (and very warm! ) and very reasonably priced. Breakfast was also included which was great both mornings! We stay here as there is free parking at the hotel which you can't get in Brighton, although it is on a first come first served basis. It's then approx a 40 minute walk into Brighton or there are plenty of buses. Staff were all very friendly! We will definitely be back.
Went to Brighton to see the best band in the world Franz Ferdinand, absolutely brilliant the entertainment value & the songs were intoxicating so different shame it had to end. Well we searched & searched for a hotel in the vacinity of the Dome Theatre to find a hotel with parking, we couldn't find one apart from those that offered you a voucher to use the local car parks or other arranged facilities after making a room booking. The average prices for overnight parking varied between £18.00 & £26.00 bloody rip off. Not the hotels fault its the Council that sets the tariff but add the car parking fee to the overnight stay without breakfast and you realise that youre on a looser. £3.60p per hour starting price to park near the Grand hotel on the road. The rooms in the Brighton hotels in the centre are overpriced, they are not even appealing and most do not even offer breakfast. Some of the hotels offer rooms with shared bathrooms how out of date is that especially if others sharing have been in the curry house! We decided to book into the Best Western as they offered parking and a full english breakfast. We have stayed in the Best Western chain hotels before and found them clean, with private facilities that are suitable for an overnight stay. BUT, there is always something and this time it was the two paving slabs that the hotel staff had dressed up as pillows. We had travelled for 2 hrs to get to Hove, asked nicely to go for a walk for an hour as we were early, then return to the hotel and book in. Great, the cleaners had done the room and the reception staff allowed us to move in. We had a cup of rosy lee and decided to walk into Brighton along the sea front which was approximately 3.5 miles. Easy walk on the level, cold wind but dry. We walked around the Lanes shopping district which is full of different shops, pubs, restaurants, cafe's and takeaways. You can buy clothes and other items here that you wont see elsewhere as there is such a vast choice of retailers, and historical buildings, great place to spend a day or two. Enjoyed a couple of pints and a sunday roast then went to see the greatest band on the planet. The show ended around 11.00pm went for a pint to calm down after the gig then got a taxi back to the hotel £8.00. The hotel was warm and welcoming and we were ready for bed as we had been mozying around for 17 hrs. THIS IS WHEN I REALISED THAT THERE ARE PILLOWS THAT YOU WOULD NOT EVEN REST YOUR WEARY FEET ON. These two were flat and hard with no life in them at all, infact they even hurt my head and ears when I first laid on them. I called the reception and a man asked what the problem was, i told him and asked if he could replace them with two different ones. He said " i will look" five minutes later he knocked the door and offered me a choice of ordinary seat cushions which he had gathered up from the reception seating, bless him! I said surely you must have spare pillows in this hotel? He said" I have checked the linen cupboard and we have none" I told him that I am not sleeping on those items and I will have to make do with what I had. Eventually after what seemed like hours I got to have 15 1/2 winks but woke up with an aching head. Never again I'm taking my pillow away with me every time, just like Franz Ferdinand my pillow is the best in the world, BUT unfortunately for one night I had to grin and bare it sleeping on paving slabs because a major chain hotel did not have any spare pillows!
loved it! went there for my sons graduation at The Brighton Centre a few minutes away. The staff were outstanding, the evening waitress was polite and amazing, the 2 breakfast waiters were so friendly, couldnt do enough for us, loved them. The food evening and breakfast was fab and we all enjoyed it very much. The room was big and clean.Interested now in trying more Best western hotels, but this will take some beating
We come to Brighton on a regular basis so we try many hotels and this hotel is one of the best I would definitely recommend it. It is clean, efficient staff and very convenient also good value for money. I can't find any faults to complain about
We had a 90th birthday celebratory meal and Philip personally waited on us from beginning to end. I have NEVER experienced service like it, just astounding attention and detail. Dealing with each person individually, attentive, listened to our needs and I couldn't have asked for more. Helped make it even more special as he made it such a stress free experience (had my 2 young kids with us). I hope he gets to hear how amazing a job he does and frankly you should be/work towards a top end establishment as you certainly put the work in. Not to forget the chef as the food was fab too. Hotel owner- get some decent hand dryers in the loos!!! ... and give Philip a pay rise.
We decided to eat in as the menu lo led food rather than head into town for dinner. Best decision we've made In years. I can't remember the last time we ate out so well. Worth going just for the food. Italian chef has been there 15 years and clearly loves what he does. Very reasonable price, can't rate highly enough.
Stayed January on a Saturday night. Got a bus into town for £1.60 right outside the hotel. Walked back along the seafront 25 min walk. Hotel was nice. Room was hot so turned off the heating. Breakfast was lovely full English included in booking. Parking very tight and not much (We got the last space)
Room was good, and receptionist and bartender were nice. Not impressed in the morning, had to wait for a very long time for my cooked breakfast, and no apology for it being late, and was not offered any toast The evening meal was adequate, albiet a wee bit dry, the chicken wings were supposed to have sauce on it, but failed on that point
Absolutely loved staying in this hotel the breakfast was lovely the staff were great and the condition of the room was excellent. Will defiantly be staying here again in the future. Located very well to the seafront and has lots of attractions and restaurants around it too.
This hotel met all the requirements of a comfortable stay a good bed and pillows. Everything was adequate and more than expected. Tea/coffee facilities provided, great TV size, carpet flooring, bath and excellent shower over bath. The only downside was that breakfast is not included and there is a shower curtain not screen.
I've been meaning to write this review for a while now. My wife and I visited Brighton a few months ago with our two young kids (5 + 1) and stayed at the Princes Marine Hotel. We used to live in Hove so know the area well. We stayed in one of the large family rooms on the top floor, which had an outside terrace and therefore worked perfectly with the little ones. We were lucky enough to have great weather so we were able to sit out on the terrace and enjoy a few glasses of wine overlooking the sea, whilst still being able to see the kids asleep in their beds :) Great cooked breakfast (and family friendly) in the morning, which filled everyone up for the day. We couldn't recommend it enough for a family visit. It's the perfect hotel if you're looking for somewhere a few minutes away from the city centre but don't want to feel like you're in Ibiza on a Saturday night - ha.
The room was clean, albeit rather small, and the usual accoutrements were all present and correct. The breakfast was good but the choices were somewhat limited. The staff were friendly enough. 'Adequate' best describes this hotel - neither more, neither less.
Very comfortable and spacious room with a balcony and sea views. Only stayed for one night as we were going to a party and wished we had booked for two nights as our stay was lovely. The car park was free and the price we paid included a very good breakfast. Would recommend the bar food.
Room, bed, bedding and the complimentary hot drinks were as you might expect. No room service available on a Saturday Evening. No staff attempted to go that extra mile to make it a memorable experience; that said the waiter at breakfast was charming. The room and facilities were overpriced for what they were but adequate for a one-night bolt hole stay.
We paid very little for the room so didn't expect too much. It was a good size, clean enough and the bed was comfortable. The shower had very little power which was annoying. As the hotel is 30 minute walk from Brighton we probably wouldn't stay here again but that is not a reflection on the hotel itself but on its location.
We stayed here for 3 nights in a family room inbetween Christmas and New Year 2 adults and 2 sons ages 12 and 5 years We had a very large family room with a double bed and 3 singles Spotlessly clean throughout our stay Sea view too ?? Every staff member we spoke to from chamber maids to front of house were polite , helpful and friendly We had a look at the newly built top Floor luxury rooms too. Well worth the slightly higher price for the lovely decor and balcony overlooking the sea Breakfast was great. Hot food cooked to order and all served with a smile We visit Brighton and Hove a couple of times a year and will definitely be coming back to this hotel. Only wish we d found it sooner Slight downside is the limited on site parking but we did manage to get a space at the end of day 2. 5 min walk to Hove and all its cafes shops and restaurants. Literally on the seafront making the 15/20 minute walk to Brighton very easy too. Room 39 was our room number and we will Definitely be asking for this one on our next visit
Stayed here 30th December for 1 night for a friends birthday. Cannot fault it really other than the fact that it is a bit dated and drab looking. Very clean, comfy room and great staff. Really good price too including breakfast which was fab. Would definitely stay here again.
We chose hove because we thought parking would be better than a hotel in Brighton itself. Nit was a nightmare last year in Brighton. We were surprised there was room in the car park. The hotel was very friendly, warm and welcoming. We had a basic room but it was very comfortable and warm and clean.
We stayed here to visit Brighton for the Burning of the Clocks parade on 21st December 2017. Hotel just outside Brighton but well positioned with just a short bus ride into Brighton. Room, service and food very good.
This Hotel really did exceed our expectations. Great value for money and with a car park on-site. Very clean! Staff friendly and efficient. Well priced meals. Opposite the beach, Bus Stop outside the Hotel. We will definitely be back.
Stayed for one night over Christmas to visit relatives. Were hardly in the room but found it comfortable and quieter, and better value, than what we could find in Brighton. Breakfast was excellent, spilt for choice and all well cooked.
Location good for transport links to Brighton or Worthing. Hove itself has a lot to offer. The staff were knowledgeable about local amenities, and there were plenty of leaflets on nearby attractions. It was useful to have a bath in addition to a shower in the room, and the shower was powerful and hot. The bacon at breakfast was very tasty and the quality and presentation of the food was very good.
We had a very enjoyable 3 day stay in room 50 with a small terrace and lovely sea view. The room was comfortable, bright and clean. All the staff are very helpful and friendly. There is a bus stop right outside hotel and the 700 bus which stops every 10 minutes takes you into Central Brighton. We will be staying here again.
Nice if impersonal hotel. It is always a struggle to book the correct room for some reason. I think they use a call centre for bookings and the staff arent clear about the layout of the hotel. Staff are pleasant though
A great hotel with lovely clean rooms. The bed was so comfortable and the bathroom was huge and very clean. Only thing lacking was fridge in the room. The TV was a good size. The room was lovely and warm. We had the sea view room which was spacious and very cosy. Parking is first come first serve and we didn't get a space. However, after 8pm you can park for free on the street until 9am which is a bonus. I must say a huge thank you to the night porter. He was so accommodating and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble for him. Very cheerful. He was the perfect end to a good night. The front of house gentleman was also very welcoming and polite. Staff are lovely and the food is good. Will be returning soon.
Don't want to be too complimentary as it might make it more difficult to get a room next time! Lovely room, excellent bed (pocket sprung mattress), very clean bathroom, delicious cooked breakfast (and hot which is always nice), will definitely be back!
Comfy bed, friendly staff, great location for a morning stroll down to the piers, considering the price absolutely no complaints! Great free parking spaces round the back, we were probably lucky to grab one though as there are only 10-15 available. Didn't have any meals or breakfast so can't comment on the food.
Great sized and comfy room staff are nice, only draw back breakfast was very small, I had full English tiny portion, the wife had continental not much choice, far too expensive at £22! Overall will return but will opt out of brekkers....
We stayed here for 2 nights in November — we were going to the Old Market to see a band that we like and decided to stay 2 nights. Nice people on Reception, and we were able to check in early and nab a parking space. Room was very clean, comfortable and with double pillows on the bed! Spacious bathroom with cosmetics etc Breakfast was very good - great service and nicely cooked Full English. Only 5 minutes to Brighton Churchill Square using the 700 bus —- stop just outside the hotel. Didn't use the bar nor the restaurant for dinner .....but looked fine to us. The only slight criticism is the speed of the lift!! Recommended and we will use again perhaps for a weekend in spring or summer.
Has parking! Always a great start to a quick 2 day break, hotel does exactly what it says on the tin, clean bedrooms and bathrooms, comfy bed, softer than ours at home but perfectly nice. We didn't eat there at anytime but did have a quick drink later in the bar and that was reasonable, the bar and breakfast area double up, so no separate comfy seats but hey it's Brighton go out eh! About a 30 min walk into Brighton from here with teens in tow, enough to stretch your legs or walk off dinner on the way back. Would stay again.
Most impressed with our stay I asked for top floor double and with sea view and that's exactly what I got !! Clean tidy and bright . Breakfast excellent . Staff friendly and efficient Private parking but get there early and leave your car and use public transport bus 700 gets you to the pier or thereabouts . We used that popular world wide taxi company max price I paid was £7 and a few pence ps bus leaves from right outside the hotel !!!
We came here because we were going to the Brighton Centre for a show and needed somewhere to stay the night. We arrived early but were allowed to check into our room and were lucky to get a parking space. Our room (although not huge) was plenty big enough for the 2 of us and was spotlessly clean. The bathroom was lovely and the heated radiator was on so we had lovely warm towels to use. We knew this was a good 35 minute walk into Brighton but there was a bus stop outside should anyone not fancy the walk. The weather was kind so we ended up doing the walk 4 times! We had a full English breakfast the next morning and it was beautifully cooked. Service was excellent. Overall a great place to stay!! Would definitely return.
Room very comfy, car parking could be a problem. the restaurant had the same menu for each night we were there. Not such a good idea. handy for bus stops etc.Staff very helpful.Beds very comfortable. Sitting area rather nice.
I stayed here a few nights in October 2017. I was slightly put off the first night when I was given a room that was already occupied and I had to explain to the female guest I was not trying to break into her room! I was also put off when I ordered the soup of the day and was told it was minestrone and then found pieces of chicken floating in it. Otherwise the rooms were adequate and clean, the breakfast was good as were most evening meals (apart from steak which wasn't very tasty.) The real downside is the location. It's too far away from any decent restaurants or evening entertainment.
Very pleasantly surprised by this hotel. It doesn't look much from the outside but our room was very spacious and very clean. Bed was comfy and large window made the room bright and welcoming. Great views of the sea as well. Lovely big bathroom and can't find any fault. I can't comment on the restaurant/bar as I did not use them but checking in and housekeeping were great. As noted in the guest information pack, an iron and board was available on request which we were given with no problems when asked. Would recommend and use again.
The outside of this hotel looks plain and average, almost like an small office block. However behind the frontage and average reception area there is a comfortable hotel with smart modern spacious rooms at a reasonable price (outside of high season). Breakfast was acceptable with the usual choice one would expect from a 3 star hotel. Evening meals are okay too, with some good daily specials. The big plus was the free car park and closeness to the beach and Hove promenade.
Just teturned from 2 nights at the Best Western Princes Marine Hotel. Large room with a terrace and sea view. Really clean and very pleasant. Staff very helpful. Very good value for money stay in a great location.
A smashing hotel - really deserves an extra star! Lovely spacious room which was very clean and well equipped; lovely sea view from wide window. Very good food from the restaurant. Staff couldn't have been more obliging and helpful - made everything very enjoyable and welcoming.
Always use this hotel when we are in Brighton, central to most things, Easy half an hour walk along the seafront to town or bus service right outside the hotel if needed. Free parking is always a bonus. Staff are always polite and helpful, if you have a problem, tell the staff and it gets dealt with, they cannot help if they dont know something is wrong. Breakfast is very good too.
Great hotel, not sure the location is that great, but worked for us because the restaurant we were dining at was within easy reach, but some distance from the excitement of the Brighton city centre. The room was with a sea view and was large, nicely decorated and clean. Breakfast was included which I could jot fault. Parking was free but a little tricky to access the car park because of the narrow access, so if you have a large car, could be problematic.
Outside appearance very uninviting. Limited parking on a first come first served basis. If carpark full you have to pay for daytime parking in street or nearby carpark. Entrance to carpark very narrow. When we arrived received a warm welcome. Standard double room was a very good size and very clean. Very comfortable with comfortable chairs. Dining room a little dated but excellent breakfast. Hot items freshly cooked and good variety of cereals, yogurts etc. Friendly, helpful staff. Good location with bus stop outside hotel which ran along the coast.
Hotel was lovely and clean and our room on the 5th floor was nice but a bit tight around the bed and no sea view which was sad as it was a special occasion . However the room was clean and the staff couldn't do enough for us , friendly , helpful fab well done . Down side as a chef the cooked breakfasts where not good . The sad thing was they had lovely ingredients . The continental was lovely , but the cooked was prepped and cooked early and not to order . The eggs Benedictine was stone cold , the pouched eggs and ready mad sauce cold and English muffins . The egg and bacon cold and bacon over cooked . And it was such a shame as they had wonderful free range eggs and maple bacon . Never mind it didn't spoil out stay thank you guys xx
We stayed for one night. The impeccable bedroom was well-furnished with a proper dressing-table, good lighting, lots of wardrobe room, and an excellent bathroom. The breakfast menu was one of the most extensive we've come across. For instance, apart from the usual full English offering, there were kippers, a variety of egg-based dishes such as scrambled with smoked salmon, omelettes, eggs Benedict and Royale. Really rather surprising in a mid-range hotel. And perfectly presented too. Not a great deal of parking space at the hotel, but there's a large car park only 50 yards or so away across the road. It's is free between 6pm and 9am - ideal for an overnight stay. There were lots of spaces.
We have stayed at the hotel a number of times when visiting family nearby and have always enjoyed the experience. All the rooms we have stayed in have been of a good size and occasionally when we can treat ourselves to a more expensive room, those on the front provide great sea views. The greatest asset of the hotel is the staff. From Reception to restaurant, bar and night porter. They are all very welcoming and enhance the stay. The rooms are clean, the food is good and although there is some parking on site, there is plenty of parking nearby. Its a great location for getting into Brighton
Stayed here for two nights over the bank holiday weekend. The hotel is well situated, just opposite the Brighton and Hove Promenade. Lovely stroll from here to the Pier/Brighton Centre which is about 45minutes in total. Buses available frequently. The price we paid was not as competitive as usual for a Best Western but I understand the rates are higher on weekends. We had a Seaview executive room on the 5th floor. The room itself was quaint and had a small balcony. The room was not very spacious but well maintained and well equipped. The issue we had was the heat! It was uncomfortably hot in the room and no air conditioning. You cannot open the window due to the noise from the main road and although a fan is provided, it is again really noisy. That, coupled with the fact the pillows and mattress were awful, did not make for a good night's sleep. Seriously, the pillows felt like bricks! Parking the car was challenging. Although I'm grateful parking is provided, it is limited and a very tight squeeze! People were blocking each other in and it was mayhem at ons point. Breakfast was very reasonable. Buffet continental and cooked items can be ordered from an extensive menu. Overall, it was a pleasant stay but the lack of sleep was not ideal.
Stayed here several times now and it's always clean, tidy and comfortable. The food in the restaurant is good with friendly service. Probably the best asset in the hotel is the night porter (Cornish). Nothing is to much trouble. If you need an early sausage sandwich before the normal breakfast service starts it's not a problem. Served with a smile and a pot of tea at 6.20 am. One of life's characters.
From the get go the service was warm friendly the room was booked via Booking.com and we were given a back room. That was fine but we payed $10 and opted for a sea view upgrade Whilst it was on the front it was very quiet. AND we could open the windows (bonus for fresh air) Excellent The room itself was clean comfortable bed and excellent shower (that is all we need) The restaurant was unbelievable Apart from great views over the ocean the food was extremely good It quickly became obvious an entrée serve was more than enough and delicious to boot. The breakfast was very good too with choice of lots of fruit cheese cold meats fresh croissants Good start to the day. If there was anything negative it would be the access to the rear car park. We had a hire car and the drive through to the back was far too narrow and the parking limited. We ended up parking under the verandah by the front door which was OK with them
Excellent hotel, everyone was happy, room was good, food was very good, drinks were a little expensive but then you are basically in Brighton, would recommend to anyone. The parking is probably the only issue, but you can park for £5. Per day if you don't use the car.
Stayed for the august bank holiday and had a lovely stay the room we had was recently refurbished basic but had all you needed and the shower was powerful and hot ,stayed room only so could not comment on breakfast , across the road from the beach and about 10 mins from the centre taxi fare about eight pounds each way but there is also a bus stop outside the hotel , free parking but not many spaces do first come first served and it's very small the entrance next to the hotel is very narrow and not for the faint hearted ! Overall a good value hotel with friendly staff had a sandwich the first day we arrived and it was lovely would stay here again
I've stayed at this hotel twice before as it's near to family when I've visited Brighton, however, it's not a great hotel - just an ok one. The hotel is about a 45 minute walk from the centre of Brighton, but it's location on the seafront is nice for a stroll. We were fortunate enough to get a parking space in front of the hotel (which is free), but were blocked in by other guests/staff on a few occasions which we had to mention to the front desk. It would be better if they restricted cars parking in front of the hotel where there aren't designated spaces. There were 3 of us sharing a family room (1 single and 1 double), which was spacious enough for a brief stay. With more luggage in the room it would have become a bit of a squeeze. We had a sea view room, which even on a gloomy day was pleasant. However, during the night the room became unbearably hot (the weather wasn't at all hot when we stayed). Opening the windows meant enduring the noise from the busy road below so in the end we had to settle for one or the other. There was a fan in the room but this was also noisy to have on at night. We had breakfast during our one night stay. The breakfast didn't open until 8am, which in my opinion is a little late even for a Saturday. There was plenty of choice of fruit, yogurt, pastries, meats, cheeses and cereals. They brought toast and hot drinks to the table, as well as the option of a cooked breakfast (including pancakes/scrambled eggs etc).
Booked for one night on a Saturday. The price hike for weekend is an absolute liberty, nearly double the price at £180 night! For that price, I would expect something exceptional. This hotel is NOT exceptional. It is tired, the room I had was tired. There is no a/c and because of the road noise it was not possible to have the window open. The desk fan provided helped. The parking round the back requires a very narrow car to get to and is very limited. The staff on duty were very friendly BEST Western? Hmmmmmm..... I understand that during Gay Pride Week the week previously, that the local prices were hiked considerably, how fair is that? There should be a law against this sort of profiteering.
been going back to the hotel for a few years , we don't bother looking at other hotels , anyone who complains about parking , should either pay extortionate parking fees or park on the road and be charged , instead of parking your car and not having to worry about it , the staff are excellent , the food is great , and the hotel is not far from Brighton's centre 3 miles which means its quite , and if you walk it doesn't seem like you've walked 3 miles , as far as I'm concerned I'll always stay at the hotel when I go to Brighton , and Dave the night porter is such a laugh and very helpful
excellent hotel with good facilities, free parking is a bonus in Brighton/hove. If you can stay a Sunday night the price is very reasonable, weekday/Saturday charges are too expensive. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here as always.
Stayedv2 nights for a wedding we were attending the staff were very friendly and helpfully . We had a meal at the hotel on the eve of the wedding as it was pouring down and didn't want to go out it was that bad we didn't expect to be honest the quality of the food but it was fabulous .we sent compliments to the chef as everything was cooked to perfection and presented lovley
While the Princes Marine Hotel may not be the most architecturally beautiful buildings along the Brighton and Hove coastline, it's definitely worthwhile choosing to stay here. The staff are friendly and helpful, especially Phillip (the restaurant manager). The breakfast offering was simple, but included all the usual items from a continental breakfast. The hot meals are also tasty (even if the full English doesn't include black pudding). The rooms are clean and very comfortable, with plenty of space. The rooms we saw came with large bathrooms, cable tv and simple coffee facilities. The hotel also has free wifi which seemed to work well. Location wise, this hotel is close to everywhere you'd like to visit in Hove and an easy bus ride into Brighton - the bus stops are right outside. If you're in need of somewhere to park your car, the car park can often be full and the side driveway is quite tight - you may need to be brave. There is pay and display parking on the beachfront directly opposite.
I stayed at this hotel very recently, on business for 2 days and I absolutely loved staying here, from the friendly, helpful staff especially Philip in the restaurant who was always at hand for suggestions what to eat and also for the local Brighton Gin which was pretty amazing. The room on the 5th floor was spacious, well presented and very clean. The evening meals were sublime, the 1st night I chose calves liver which just melted in my mouth and cooked to perfection. The 2nd I chose lamb chops, cooked pink and rendered down beautifully. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel for either a business or pleasure stay.
Have stayed in several of these hotels and although consistent, do not represent good value. Food & drink I had was OK but expensive for what it was. Breakfast was OK. Room very comfortable. Good view of Hove beachfront.
As a reunion weekend my husband and I and friends wanted to stay at the same location. We were very lucky and each couple had a sea view room. The rooms were spacious and equipped with the usual accessories. Iron and ironing board available at reception. There was no air conditioning, bathroom extract did not appear to work and wash hand basin did not drain freely. Breakfast was fine as was the prompt service but staff attitude needs attention. Room attendant was very pleasant. Inadequate parking for size of hotel. Price considered high.
Stayed here for 2 weeks and was more than pleased. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Food was excellent. Breakfast was cooked to order served hot and dinner was better than most 5 star hotels I have stayed in. The bed and pillows could have been more comfortable but all the in all it was a great stay. Well worth a visit.
Our family of four spent two nights at this hotel and it was lovely! We had a sea view from the first floor and we were lucky to have some clear, sunny days while we were there to enjoy it. The room was spacious and well laid out for our family, and we found that this hotel was pretty close to most things. We spent time at the seashore, shopped along nearby George Street and ate fish and chips at Wolfies. Most of the classic Brighton activities are a short cab ride away: the Pier, the Lanes and the Pavilion. All are easily accessible on foot once you get into Brighton. A nice place to stay!
Absolutely delightful staff who could not do enough. Comfortable clean hotel. I will definitely return. Well done to all! This hotel is great value compared with others in central Brighton. Good bus services run into town from right outside the door every 15 minutes up to Midnight.
We had a Seaview Room. It was clean, comfortable, spacious and well decorated (including en-suite). Great view over recreational green and promenade beach huts to the beach and sea. The only downside was traffic noise when windows were open. If you don't mind the view and you want a tad more peace ask for a room at the rear. Excellent breakfast (buffet continental and/or choose cooked items from menu).
We had read plenty of reviews and were not expecting more than advertised. However, the bed was very uncomfortable, and we could not control the room temperature nor open the windows, so we didn't sleep well. It is a pleasant little place in a nice location, but we came away a little disappointed.
Visiting a grand daughter in Hove we decided to stay at this hotel on Hove seafront . Found a space in the car park and checked in . Very nice large twin bedded room at the back ( view ok not the sea ) two comfortable easy chairs . Good tv on wall . Spacious bathroom with nice fluffy towels . Our only meal there was breakfast . Good buffet with fresh fruit , cereals , yoghurt . Etc . YCoffee and toast came very quickly . My husband had a very good full English and I had scrambled eggs with mushrooms. Extremely good . Would certainly stay again !
Bit of a mixed bag - hotel is right on the front and we had a fabulous sea view. There was a slightly unkempt air about the place (worrying stain on the base of the bed was unsettling and should be dealt with, place mat my husband was given at dinner was dirty which is sloppy work). Maybe it's a staff shortage - we noticed that Lenka was working in the bar until late on, then back on duty when we went to reception at 8am the next morning (and she was still smiling). No air conditioning which is fine by me, open a window if you need to, traffic noise did not bother us. For a small hotel the menu was good and the food when it came was very good, recommend you stay for dinner!. Takes about 40 minutes to walk from the hotel to Brighton pier but a bus stops right outside the hotel if you can't be bothered. Didn't do breakfast, took porridge pots and had breakfast in bed. Parking area is definitely challenging, especially if you have a larger car. They have padding on the corner of the wall so there must have been many scrapes. Get there early before all the car spaces have gone.
Little changed since my last review in 2016 Cheerful and polite staff with decent size rooms and a very good breakfast in pleasant surroundings. Reception area is a little drab. The huge lift must have been the prototype for the new aircraft carriers. Lets hope the seaborne models move a little faster. Negotiating the parking access and area requires significant skills - and courage No aircon. Beware of the heat on the front of the building on hot days
We were meeting friends who live in Hove and stated one night. Friendly staff room nice and clean and we had a sea view. The breakfast menu looked very good although we didn't have any. The only downfall is that there is limited parking, first come first served. We were lucky and got the last space
The room was clean, there some mildew in the shower but noting major. Daily cleaning service was good, reception staff friendly. Free Wi-Fi which worked in the room. We drove down from glasgow so free on site parking for the time we were there was a real bonus. Good location next to bus routes and lots of cafes/restaurant within a 5 -10 min walk. We never ate in the hotel as we wanted to get out and about but it always smelled good. The big let down was the mattress and pillows which were absolutely rubbish and made for a crap night sleep. We did stay am extra night because the location and parking was good but, we are looking are forward to getting home to our own bed. We would stay again, but only if the bed situation improved.
Came to the area to visit family nearby and booked this hotel as it is on the sea front. I wasn't disappointed as we were on the 3rd floor and had brilliant views of the sea.The hotel was clean and the staff were friendly, however I would have preferred a buffet breakfast rather having to order hot or cooked food. I would definitely return here.
As we were visiting at the Hove end we came here. A very good position on the sea front, some half of the rooms face that way, they might get hot in V hot weather but were OK on our visit. Free but limited parking less than 20 places?, first come-first parked. The 700 route coastal bus stops outside, both for Brighton centre or up the coast for us bus pass users. Breakfast free and Ok if a bit shambolic, good choice but the full English appeared the best option.
I stayed here for 5 nights with work. In short the hotel is fantastic and let me tell you why. Checking in was very simple and the staff greeted me with a smile. I was given a room with a sea view and you can not get better than that. The hotel is located on the outskirts of Brighton, literally 300 meters from the sea. It has free car parking in the rear which is a massive bonus. A lot of the hotels in Brighton don't and parking is expensive in the area. My room was lovely, the decor is a little dated but it adds to the charm. The bed was very comfortable, with good quality sheets. There were tea and coffee making facilities with good quality coffee, tea, hot chocolate and biscuits. I point this out as this is a hotel that does not skimp on quality produce but at sensible prices. The tv was of a good size and has all the usual channels. The bath room was a large size with a bath and shower that had plenty of power to it. I had breakfast each day. You have two choices of the continental or this with a cooked option. There were rolls, croissants, cooked meats, cereals, cheese, fruits, melon, fruit juices and all the cooked options. Basically plenty to choose from and again at good prices, I just had the continental as it was more than enough for me. I chose to eat in the restaurant each night and the food was some of the best I've had at a hotel. I've tried the beef burger, Caesar salad, lasagne and salted caramel brownie. To be honest I was expecting standard bland food but it was really tasty, full of flavour. They clearly have a very talented Chef as I'm picky when it comes to food but I ate the lot! Overall I've had a fantastic stay at this hotel. I'm in the area a lot with work and I will definitely be staying here from now on. I highly recommend this hotel.
We stayed in one of the newly refurbished rooms in the penthouse, the room was excellent with a small balcony and sea view. Service was very good at all times and there is the added bonus of using the free car park ( if there is a space). Overall a very enjoyable stay.
We stayed for two nights in room 11 on the first floor which overlooked the tear car park, not a problem as no noise from the sea road. Room was spacious, large bathroom - only complaint was towels were very small and thin but reception soon provided extras. Free parking which was a bonus, the bus stop is right outside the hotel which meant getting into the town was easy. Breakfast was included in our rate - excellent choice. Helpful friendly staff. We would certainly stay here again as it was good value for money.
I stayed here to do the London to Brighton bike ride the next day - I wanted somewhere to get my head down with an early start. Every time someone used the plumbing in an adjacent rooms, the noise was very loud, the walls did not seem to insulate the sounds of the drunken guests returning at 2am and still singing dancing, and generally being very loud until 5am. Trying to leave the hotel for my ride I was met by one of the night staff who complained to me about the 24 hour bar, noisy guests, an accident at work where he had fallen down some stairs etc etc Probably the worst nights sleep I've had in any hotel, perhaps I was unlucky - I would bring ear plugs as a precaution!
Stayed here for just one night on a budget but was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the newly refurbished room allocated on the fifth floor. It was at the rear of the hotel but still enjoy that lovely panoramic views over the South Downs. Although it's a good 40 minutes walk from here to Brighton town centre (or 10 minutes in a taxi), the hotel is in a quiet location literally opposite the Hove seafront - literally two minutes walk across the road. The hotel staff were courteous and attentive and the breakfast was certainly hearty and varied with a number of cooked options including my favourite kippers and poached eggs! They also serve a number of gluten-free options which suited my partner. I wouldn't hesitate to book here again.
No nasty surprises. Friendly, helpful staff, a clean, spacious room. The beds could be a little better but they weren't terrible either. The breakfast was absolutely excellent - one of the best I've had in a hotel in Brighton (and we've stayed at the Grand more than once!). It's a fair distance from the centre of Brighton but can get a bus right outside the hotel and a taxi was under a tenner.
We arrived for three days bringing an elderly relative with us. We were shown to impeccably clean rooms with a large bathroom with bath in one and a great, spaciou disabled room with all facilities for our relative. //All staff were very amenable and nothing was too much trouble. We would highly recommend staying in this hote and have never been disappointed over the years we have been coming. The service was and always is beyond our expectations. We could have been at The Grand for the care we were shown.//The food was absolutely delicious and when we asked to change the menu to our liking (and make up a brand new dish), the chef did it with no fuss at all.//The waiting staff were incredibly courteous as were the bar and Reception staff, in fact everybody.//Whoever is managing the hotel, I congratulate you on your efforts. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.//We will be back, definitely. Oh yes, the beds were incredibly comfortable and I slept like a log. Wonderful.
Stayed here after reading other reviews on Tripadvisor and was not disappointed. Originally requested a sea view but stayed at the back and was pleased in the end as very quiet. Comfortable , clean and spacious room. Buffet breakfast with cooked option. Evening meals available at extra cost. Parking is limited and a tight squeeze. Some parking on roadside which is free until 9.00am.20 minutes walk into Brighton along seafront. Extremely good value.
I stayed here for two nights whilst visiting a friend in Hove. I have been to Brighton and Hove a few times and stayed in various hotels, but usually at the Brighton end of town. This time I wanted to be nearer Hove so tried this place. The location is great - on the seafront road. Ideal for a morning walk or run. It was, of course, further into Brighton - yet a 15 minute walk to my friend's house. The Princes Marine is quite a small hotel - 42 rooms I think. Mine was the very last one no.57. It was fine. Quite small but I was alone so was fine. The bathroom was well designed and very clean. The bed was comfortable - I would describe it as a small double. Everything was provided - tea and coffee supplies, hairdryer, tv and enough toiletries. The staff were very friendly. Check-in was simple. The bar is quite small but I had a drink with my friends prior to hitting the town. They had a decent selection of beers and wines. Other guests were dining, and the food looked good. i didn't eat breakfast in the hotel - so can't comment. The night porter was a friendly man. I came back from nights out to a couple of magic tricks. It was fun. Overall I enjoyed my short stay at this hotel. I will definitely stay again next time I visit Brighton and Hove.
Where to start with this one which, for me, was a combination of the good, the bad and the ugly! Starting with the good it is a very clean hotel throughout offering a fair price for a room but, for me, the staff and everyone who works here from reception, bar, breakfast service to housekeeping, who are exceptionally friendly and welcoming, must make this hotel a favourite of many. Service and friendliness is in abundance and was faultless with everyone we met and encountered throughout our stay and Best Western should be proud of everyone who represented the company therein. It has a very good bar service and the breakfast service, which included an excellent selection of hot food cooked to order (though the buffet selection is ample but not extensive or quality). The kitchen prepares and produces an excellent breakfast and must surely be commended for their excellent eggs whether they be fried, poached or scrambled. Let's now proceed to the bad - I would, personally put this down firstly to the room. An executive room with sea view and terrace this hotel gets one out of three for me, there definitely was a sea view. There was, however, nothing executive about this room and it was more a standard double. No facilities such as dressing gowns, air conditioning or mini bar nor decent toiletries in the bathroom with no shampoo or conditioner (and come on plastic mugs surely as grown adults we can be trusted with glass) and a shower that constantly changed the temperature of the water, no free water in the room (though the bar does offer a glass of tap water on demand_, I would personally class this room as a standard. The terrace was no more than the tiniest of walkway (and for me should not have been advertised as a terrace, whereby if 2 of you stood outside to take advantage of the sea view, you felt that was one too many in your space) and the bed and pillows were the most uncomfortable and hardest I have ever encountered. You could not leave the windows open at night as the traffic from the main thoroughfare from Hove to Brighton was incessant and unrelentless and the fan, provided, was noisy and inadequate and it felt what was the lesser of 2 evils to avoid a hot and uncomfortable slumber and for a 3 night stay, I personally woke up more tired than when I went to bed! The bar also served up the worst cappuccino ever which was more like a poorly coloured cup of coffee coloured water. To the ugly, this has to be the exterior which by no stretch of the imagination I could refer to as a 'nice looking building' and the windows and frames looked unwashed and unkempt. Personally, if I had been passing and thought to drop in for a stay I would have been more than likely driven by. This would probably go down on my record as the ugliest hotel I have stayed in. The decor inside, although it appeared to have undergone some refurbishment in our room, was dated and, in my opinion, it was like stepping into a budget hotel from the 80's. I really did not feel this specific hotel to be one of the best adverts for a Best Western. Overall, sleep-wise, this was not a great stay and although, I felt the staff hold this place together spectacularly this was, for me, only an average hotel and I, personally therefore can only award it so. However, if it had been offered as a budget hotel, it may have received very good.

Dear Cazz111_12 Thank you for taking the time to leave a review of the hotel- I note your positive comments on our staff and cooked breakfast. I'm shocked to hear you did not enjoy our newly built Penthouse/Executive Terrace rooms built in 2015- all the customers I speak to comment how nice they are and some even saying they could be in any 5 star hotel- I note the comment regarding the plastic glasses, this is for health and safety reasons- safer to use these on bathrooms tiles. I understand there was some mini heat waves last few days- we do provide fans in the rooms- also the water in the rooms is drinkable. I do hope you will try us again in the future and enjoy the hotel like many of our returning guests. Kind Regards Jonathan
I was only staying one night for business and booked a basic double bedroom. On entering looked fine but was incredibly hot. Desperate for a shower, I unpacked, plugged in phones and toothbrush and went to take my toiletries to the bathroom. Bathroom light didn't work, and there was also no fan in the room so I thought I would phone reception as I had only checked in 15 minutes before. I called down 5 times! 15 minutes later after getting dressed and packing my suitcase I went back down to reception. Member of staff said she'd been on the phone 40 minutes.... I had checked in with her within that time and phone was not engaged just kept ringing.... I said I wanted to change rooms and I luckily got a bigger room. Asked for iron and she said she'd bring up later.... not very good service at all. Had better at Premier Inns. Breakfast was very basic and asked for soft poached eggs on brown toast, and got rock hard eggs on a small piece of seeded bread with a pattern of hollandaise....dreadful.... will not be going back, very disappointing!

Dear Tezansez, Many thanks for your review of the hotel. I'm sorry to hear your stay was not to the usual standard we are known for- sorry to hear about the bathroom light and phone problem- its very rare we have someone on the phone for 40 mins I will speak to the reception team. There should of been a fan in the cupboard? Its very rare we have problems with our food in the hotel- but please always send back if you are not 100% happy- we are now using English muffins for our poached eggs you will be happy to know. Please do ring me at the hotel should you stay in Hove again - I would like to show you the hotel in the positive light many of our customers and are used to. Kind Regards Jonathan
We warmed to this hotel, which provided us with a very good base for our stay. We asked for a quiet room, and got one, though the rooftops of Hove were probably not as good a view as the rooms overlooking the sea! However we had everything we needed for a comfortable few days. The bedding was clean and white, the pillows were firm, the mattress comfortable, and the shower was powerful. Although the soft furnishings in the room were dated and faded it really wasn't a problem. The only noise disturbance we had was early one morning when a group of idiots decided to make an early departure in their fancy car. For some reason they needed to shriek at each other for several minutes before leaving. Clearly not the hotels fault! There is a bus stop just outside the hotel, and Brighton tickets are £3.20 for a day return. However the walk along the promenade was lovely, and as we had sunny weather throughout our stay we were happy to stroll. There are so many cafe's, bars and restaurants in Hove that you have plenty of eating and drinking choices if you don't want to use the hotel facilities. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel, and would return again when I am next in the area.
A very comfortable hotel overlooking the sea. Convenient bus ride from Brighton centre. Very friendly, professional & helpful staff. Nice well presented breakfast. Car park on site - not huge & has a narrow entrance but if no spaces there is street parking opposite. Close to an array of restaurants to cover most tastes.
Stayed for one night as visiting friends. Stayed room only so can't comment on food. Room was lovely as had a sea view. King size bed which was comfy. Excellent value. Staff appeared friendly and helpful. Lovely walk into Brighton. Would stay here again if in Brighton area as Hove is a lovely relaxing area but near enough to Brighton if needed.
Visited this place to meet up friends. The staff were friendly and very hospitable. The view was stunning, great room, superb food, drinks and excellent service. Great location for sightseeing, enjoying the beach, shopping and fun ride at British Airways i360.
We stayed here only one night (4/30/2017). The room was clean and well furnished. The staff were friendly and helpful. It was a pleasant stay and what one would expect for value in this price range. The only difficulty is the parking lot. It is very small, hard to get in and out, and does not accommodate all guests of the hotel. I think it's "whoever gets there first gets a parking space"
Ended up coming here on a spontaneous night away and this hotel came up as the best priced in the area. Not right in central Brighton but didn't mind the walk, rooms basic but clean and comfortable. Staff were very friendly - shout out to Dave the legend who was very sweet and entertained us with card tricks after our night out ! Will definitely return! Thankyou x
Great budget hotel - friendly - good big clean modern rooms - friendly bar staff - room too hot though - light in bathroom wasn't working but we reported it - car parking - great location- would return
Love this hotel. Good food, comfortable rooms, lovely sea views. Staff are long serving so they are like a family. Very convenient for walks along sea front, buses along coast, buses into Hove or Brighton. Recent addition are penthouse rooms. The two either end have double aspect views and small terrace. Very comfortable and modern. We'll be back!
Funny little hotel. I wanted to like it and had read good reviews but was disappointed when we got there. It's a good 35 minute walk out of Brighton but that didn't bother us then. The front of the hotel is ok, clean and tidy. Check in was ok, nothing more nothing less - a bit impersonal but inoffensive. The room was a very bog standard, blandish generic kind of 70's style that could do with a bit of love. Bed, pretty comfy, room clean. The bar is a little off putting in that the back bar is nice, a little quirky and stocked well enough but the seating area is soulless. My main problem was the heat in the room - almost unbearable. Switched the radiator off and opened the window but it made almost no difference. Woke up sweating and hot at 2:00 am ish and it was awful. Complained to reception upon checkout and was met with a deadpan "no one has mentioned that before" no apology, no offer even of "can we buy you a drink at the bar?" (Room 35 if you visit) Massively overpriced at £130 (room only) for what turned out to be a boring little hotel. Next time I'll pay £10 more for somewhere miles better and closer to town.
We spent 4 days in March the hotel and enjoyed every moment. In our opinion the hotel deserves - and would have had - a higher rating! We stayed in the new room on the top floor with a fantastic sea view from a balcony. It is really worth having, the balcony is a lovely place to enjoy the sunshine. The room was spacious and quiet with very comfortable bed. The room was cleaned every day. The staff was lovely, helpful and kind. Breakfast and dinner were delicious and there was plenty to choose from (well enough choice) and something different each day. The hotel is located very close to a long promenade and after about 30 min. of walking you can get to Brighton city centre and the Pier. For sure we will come back to the hotel! /Anna & Maciek
At first glance I wasn't sure that I'd like this hotel as much as I did! The dated reception area and front of hotel area don't lure you in (sorry) and I was waiting for a few minutes on arrival before anyone appeared, so I wondered if I'd made the right choice for the rate paid. However, when I was welcomed it was a very warm and friendly reception which I cannot fault. All of the staff are absolutely lovely and my room was spacious with a great seaview so I can only say good things about the team from this point. I think it's an ideal base for a group of friends in Brighton or Hove for the weekend, you can be casual or dressed up however you are comfortable and you can come and go from the hotel easily. There's a bus stop right outside if you want to get to the centre of Brighton, or cross over the (busy) road towards the beach huts opposite and enjoy a lovely 30min pedestrian promenade stroll with lots of people watching and great sea views to enjoy. I would recommend the hotel, it just needs a change of layout/modernisation to the reception area. The bedrooms are all bright modern stylish and spacious.
This hotel is on the seafront, has nice newly refurbished rooms and is reasonably quiet as it is on the edge of Hove. We stay here quite often as we have family nearby and find the service friendly and efficient.
We stayed at the Princes Marine Hotel over easter bank holiday weekend and were delighted with the room and service at the hotel. We were lucky to stay on the top floor and although at the back of the hotel the view was amazing. In 54 we had sea and downs views. A real treat. The room was spacious, relaxingly styled and immaculately clean. We could have stayed there all week. The hotel is located close enough to Brighton to pop into town for shopping or dinner but equally the local area is fantastic for restaurants and the seafront and Hove lawns are directly outside. Overall a fantastic hotel and we were impressed with the service and relaxed feel of the hotel and would definitely stay there again.
We stayed here this weekend there was 12 of us in total. A mixture of friends and family of all ages. A Ladies weekend away. We arrived on Friday at around midday. We were greeted by two very friendly ladies at the reception that gave us keys to our rooms when we shouldnt have arrived until 2pm. The director of the hotel helped us all into the lift with our bags and showed us to our rooms. The atmosphere was so warm and welcoming. Our first impression of the room was like no other place We have ever stayed. The rooms were very clean airy and we were spoilt for facilities in the room this hotel had everything covered. The hotel accomadated for all of us and arranged breakfast at the last minute. In the breakfast room we was greeted by Philip nothing was too much trouble he was great, A real credit to the hotel and the breakfast was cooked to perfection there was a vast variety to choose from something for everyone! Even my mum who is gluten intolerant they really went the extra mile to ensure everyone was happy and full. After a long evening out we all returned to the hotel to be greeted by Dave the night concierge. He arranged food for us all he was so friendly and courteous. Our rooms had sea views which was beautiful. Outside the front of the hotel you are on the seafront without the hustle and bustle. Food was readily available in the bar or the resteraunt all day nothing was too much trouble for these guys. I will be returning with my family for a city break very soon it is definitley the best hotel I have ever stayed in. If your coming to brighton you wont be dissapointed if you are staying here. We were very impressed thank you best western for having us. You made our holiday great.
Incredibly good value, clean large double bedroom with huge windows and great facilities with large bathroom that had a shower in it with water pressure that puts the Fire Brigade to shame!! Super friendly and professional staff. Definitely be coming back :)
We were travelling to Dieppe from Newhaven and stayed in Brighton to be "on time" the following day . We found the hotel easily and the location is very pleasant . we had a parking place for the car free of charge ... the hotel room was spacious and convenient the only negative point was the noise all along the night from the aeration ... The walk along the sea front up to the town was fabulous !!
We stayed here over the long weekend at the end of April and found the accommodation to be very pleasant. We had a room with a sea view and it was roomy as was the bathroom, and both were nice and clean. All the staff were very helpful and the food, both in the dining room and bar, was good. There is a bus stop right outside the hotel so that you can travel into the centre of Brighton with ease. While not a luxurious hotel we found it more than adequate for our needs and can recommend it to anyone wanting somewhere to stay near the sea front in Hove.
Having stayed at this hotel before we were presently surprised to meet some famiiar faces. The room was clean, comfortable and warm. Lovely view of the sea. Parking at rear of hotel - great our sized car but would have been nervous taking a bigger vehicle though many did. We enjoyed the 1+ mile wak into Brighton along the sea front though easy to take a bus or the car too.
First time staying in a Best Western and although a little out of Brighton it was an enjoyable two days with the bus stop just outside the Hotel. The staff room and the view made our time in Brighton a good one. Thank you Susan & Cindy Browne
Just back from a night away in Brighton staying at the Princes Marine. Goodness what an ugly hotel it is! We tried and failed to park in the car park but no room so instead parked in the road. Anyone arriving in a large car beware; the entry to the car park at the rear is tight...! Inside the hotel improves. We were warmly welcomed by the receptionist and given the key to our room on the 4th floor. The room was large, warm and tastefully furnished. The bed turned out to be very comfortable and the en suite was generously proportioned. We slept well and in the morning were served with an excellent breakfast; nice to have smoked salmon as an option, what a treat. The hotel is a good 35 minute walk from the southern Lanes but benefits from being a little quieter away from any nightime revellery. Despite its unprepossessing exterior this is a pleasant hotel and was very good value too.
The room I had was on the fourth floor, with a beautiful sea view, spacious room, very clean, could not fault it, car park a little small, however, ample off street parking, the only minus point, was the food in the restaurant, was a little bland, however not a serious distraction from staying here, recommend!!!
First impressions of this hotel weren't great. Looks very dated from the outside, car park was very small and a very tight squeeze to get in to, reception a bit dull, I could go on.......However, the room was fab! We stayed in a family room, it was enormous and had a lovely sea view! Looks like it had been recently refurbished and was modern, bright and very clean. Good location, half hour walk along the seafront to the pier. Staff were very friendly and helpful. One complaint, room wasn't particularly cheap and breakfast wasn't included. Went for the continental option and it was over £9 per person!! Bit pricey and wouldn't stop me staying in this hotel again but thought it was expensive for what you got.
Prior to visit to this hotel I read reviews, it literally offered what I had read. I would defo. return here and use another Best Western Hotel. No complaints, clean, comfortable beds, and very helpful staff. Food lovely, my daughter said it was one of the best gammon steaks she had ever eaten. Compliments to the Chef.
Stayed here for Brighton Marathon weekend. Had a twin room which was very clean. View overlooking the carpark. 1 bed rock hard and made a noise every time you moved the other one was like a marshmallow to sleep in. Hot water in good supply. Walls very thin, could hear next door chatting and local pigeons seem to have nested outside the window! Breakfast was ok though for the price of the room per night I would expect it to be included in the tariff. Check out was quick, staff pleasant but didn't ask me if my stay was enjoyable until after my credit card authorised! Did mention about noise and was just told they will look into it
I was billeted here by my company while doing a contract in Hove. First impressions weren't great tired exterior the forecourt packed with parked cars, meaning you had to dodge between them to get to the front door. Staff were welcoming and friendly though. Main reception area and dinning room looks like it dropped out of the 1980's. The rooms were spacious although most of the windows had blown double glazing units. The bed was comfortable and there were good facilities in the room, however the bathroom was a bit basic with lifting from a utility lighting tube like you used to get in schools. Walls were thin and every time someone turned on the cold water tap the walls thundered just like an old seaside guesthouse. Breakfast was normal with yogurts, cereals, tinned fruit, cheese, cold meats. The gluten free option was a very sad container of cornflakes. Fantastic sausages with the English breakfast. No fruit juices available just two different types of sugar ladened 'Nectar' which tasted really bad. Personally I don't think the good staff make up for the poor hotel experience. I'll avoid this place in future.

Dear Bernard, Thank you for your recent review of the hotel- I have noted your comments and would like to add some updates on future developments of the hotel. I note your comments on our free car park, this is something our regulars enjoy week in week out- we do currently let cars park on the ramp at the front of hotel- there is also car parking at back too- I could block off spaces at front possibly in the future- its the first time its been brought to my attention. The bathrooms were only fitted completely new 3 years a go- I've never had a complaint on the lighting before- customers do enjoy the bright LED lighting. The reception area is due for refurbishment this year. The fruit juices we use are recommended to use from head office- we have been using for many years now. The bedroom walls of hotel are made of solid concrete between rooms- i'm sorry you could here pipes- we did have some plumbers here in the last week fixing a tank. Thank you again for your constructive comments and I hope maybe you will try us again - should you decide to please contact me direct- I would like you to try one of our Penthouse terrace rooms which were built in 2015. Kind Regards Jonathan Ailion
Excellent!!! From the initial enquiry to the day and throughout. There was attention to detail, everything that was asked for was given without hesitation or issues. The hotel is clean, with good facities. The food at the sit down meal was amazing. We were late eating and even this did not spoil the quality of the food. Everyone commented how nice thier meal was. The rooms where people were staying were to an excellent standard. I cannot thank all the staff there enough. I do have to say a very big thank you to Lisa who organised all of it and to Phil the restaurant manager who kept everyone happy and run the day perfectly, even with our arrival delay for the meal. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone. Thank you again.
Frequent visitor of Brighton and like to stay somewhere different each time. Chose this hotel because we thought it would be quieter as Brighton is very noisy in places. Initial thoughts on arrival were not good as it doesn't look great from outside, nor does the reception do it any favours , it's so dull and uninviting. But the room made up for it, very, very clean and nicely decorated.Very ,very clean bathroom. Nice touches like toiletries and tea, coffee making things etc. Good bedding and comfy bed. Fantastic sea view which is probably unbeatable in Brighton . And it was quieter than staying in the town but it's a long way to get in and out for dinner , we tried to get a taxi back but it was so busy we ended up walking most of the way. Breakfast was great ,really good choice of hot and cold and very good waiting staff , very polite and professional. We really enjoyed our breakfasts and will definitely stay again but will pre book a taxi back next time .
Stayed one night on business and whilst the first impressions were not great (very limited parking spaces available, outside and reception stuffy and in need of refurbishment) , this is a beautifully refurbished hotel. The rooms were clean and newly furnished with everything a traveller would want. Bathrooms modern and clean. had a great nights sleep with good quality breakfast, presented in a speedy manner by very warm and helpful staff. Great value stay and would definitely return
I stayed here for 2 nights on business. The hotel is a good 15 minute walk from Hove station and right on the sea front. Check in was friendly and efficient. I was allocated a lovely room on the 4th floor, well appointed, spacious and clean. Due an electrical problem in the hotel I was later moved to a room on the 5th floor, an executive room with sea view and terrace. Again a lovely room. I did have to turn the heating off completely in both rooms as they were very warm. The bathrooms were very warm because of the heated towel rails so I had no trouble drying out my wet clothes! The staff were very good about keeping me informed about progress with fixing the electrics. I had room service both nights, reasonably priced, large portions and very tasty. Breakfast was also plentiful with hot food cooked to order ( I did not have the cooked options but they looked delicious.) There were obviously lots of regular guests there. It would be an excellent base for a holiday.
Our 2nd visit to Princes Marine Hotel. We highly recommend the restaurant for an evening meal. My Husband had the Belly Pork with crackling, he said it was one of the best if not the best meal he had ever had! he even asked for the Chef to come out of the kitchen for a word. Pasquale introduced himself & was delighted that we had enjoyed our meals so much (I had the Morroccan style lamb meatballs, fabulous)! We finished our meal with Chefs Amaretto cheesecake, YUM. Breakfast is very very good too. We will definitely be back for another visit. Prime location directly across the road from the sea.
Husband and I stayed two nights here again. Have tried several hotels in the area but have returned here once again. Very friendly staff, clean, good location. If you are planning to eat out in Brighton don't bother as the food here is SUPERB.
I have stayed here twice this month for work and found both stays to be comfortable. The hotel has a really good location directly on the sea front, it is clean and the staff are really friendly and helpful. It does have its not so good points, parking is limited and quite tight for a larger car I would say, and it was at times a bit noisy overnight. But that said the rooms are really good and the 2 I experienced were big. Myself and colleagues ate in the restaurant on a few occasions and found all food to be really good. So all in all a very good hotel. I will be staying here again.
My partner and I stayed here for one night over the weekend. The room was large and so was the bathroom. Bed was far too soft and our double consisted of two singles joined together. Really odd that the bed sheets did not fit the bed, leaving several inches of exposed nasty mattress underneath. Hotel is clearly old and you can hear so much from others in their rooms, at one point I literally thought someone was in our bathroom. Slept ok despite lots of banging of doors etc. Don't think there is anything they can do about the paper thin walls. Managed to get one of the car park spaces which was helpful.
Reception area was rather grotty but the room was large and very clean. Pity the double was two single beds put together and the mattress was very soft and lumpy. Was nice to have parking. Food was quite good but service not as good.
The best western Prince marine is the best ever I stayed the staff very polite & freindly the food was was lovely the bar was fantastic the room was beautiful I would to stay here again thank you very Much
We stayed 2 nights in August as a family of 4. We were in Brighton visiting family who actually live in Shoreham. The hotel was ideally located between Brighton and Shoreham. We had a big spacious room with a sea view, rooms were nice and clean and the staff were friendly. We paid for breakfast both mornings and this was well worth the money. We managed to secure a parking space at the hotel but spaces are very limited. We caught the bus right outside the hotel which took us to where we needed to be. Great hotel and we would definitely stay again.
A good hotel situated on the sea front, clean rooms, good food, very welcoming and friendly staff. We have stayed there several times and have as yet not been disappointed. The bar and restaurant are both used for lunch and dinner and should you wish to invite guests to join you for an evening meal this has not been a problem
Room too hot, noise from fan in bedroom all night. TV on wall was crooked-so dare not move in case it fell!!! Staff not welcoming and stood in reception entrance smoking!!! Bar food was ok. Can't work why all the reviews are 5 star, cos this is a middle if the road business hotel.

Dear Gwenda, Thank you for your review of the hotel- I have looked into your comments and wish to offer my apologies the hotel was not to your satisfaction- please see below comments. We have recently upgraded all our TVs to 40 inch and 50 inch HD to all rooms- the brackets are designed to move about on the wall. Fans in bathroom are on a timer so should go off after approx 15 mins. I have spoken to the staff regarding smoking at front of hotel as this is not allowed we have a smoking area out the site of our guests. Thank you again for your feedback and I do hope you will try us again in the future where you will see the hotel in the light that so many of our guests do week in week out. Kind Regards Jonathan Ailion
We have stayed a couple of times, the rooms are good but the ones overlooking the seafront are better. Car parking is available but very limited. Service and food are good,in fact the food is very good.
After being shocked at the expense of Hotels in Brighton plus that hardly any could offer off street parking I looked at Hove , just down the road. There I found and telephoned the Best Western, Princes Marine Hotel. The receptionist was helpful "Yes we have free parking at the Hotel on a first come basis. Yes they had a lift in the Hotel , yes I could have a room with a sea view and yes I could have a large room.So I booked. The Hotel is right on the sea front with unrestricted views of the sea (from front bedrooms). I easley found the Hotel and parked in their car.park. Booking in was quick and the welcome was friendly and helpful, also at the reception was a phone to book taxis if needed. I went to my room on the first floor. I have stayed in a good many Hotel bedrooms but this one was very very good and absolutely pristine. From carpet to ceiling everything was so clean, shiny and dust free it looked as if I was the first person to ever be there . The bed sheets ect. were equally as good . I'd rate it 12 out of 10. I noticed an extra door in the room which, I think, when unlocked went into the next room to make a family suite. On the ground floor there is a Dinning room and Bar. The Barman was friendly and it is also possible to have meals or snacks there but I opted for the restaurant for an evening meal . The Gentleman in charge there took me to a table .I noticed that he looked after all the diners, especially the elderly ones, very well in a friendly and helpful manner. . He was good, as was the food. On going to bed I did find there was noise from the lift (near my room) and from the plumbing I think . It delayed my sleep for a bit but when I did get to sleep I had a good sleep. Not waking until the morning. I will certainly go there again (and look forwards to it). To me the experience was very good and the best I have stayed in for a very long time.I thoroughly recommend it
Lovely hotel with plenty of space, all the halls have plenty of space, even the lift was huge! Check-in was simple and the staff were friendly and informative. The room itself consisted of a large spacious bedroom and bathroom. Our room (13) also had a great sea view through a large picture window. The decor was agreeable, quite modern with a flatscreen TV on the wall. Facilities include tea & coffee making facilities (lovely biscuits) and stationery. The bed was large and gave a comfortable night's sleep. The bathroom had a full sized bath with shower over. Hot water was plentiful and the controls were easy to use. A non-slip mat was provided for the bath and plenty of clean towels. Good quality soap, shower gel and shampoo were provided which was handy as I forgot to pack shampoo. The location of the hotel is good too, a 20-25 minute walk to the centre of Brighton but on a nice day this is welcomed as the Promenade from Hove to Brighton is wonderful. The Victorians used to travel down from London just to walk up and down it. One benefit of being a bit out of town is the parking is better - more available and cheaper. £1 an hour for on-street parking around the hotel and of course free if you can get one of the limited spaces in the hotel's own car park.
Fantastic hotel, brilliant sea view room. Spotlessly clean and lovely, helpful staff. Could not believe the amazing view from our room. The bar was nice and friendly and the food on offer from the specials menu was really tasty and good value
I stay here weekly whilst working on a project in nearby Shoreham By Sea and have found the quality of the rooms to be excellent, the staff friendly and helpful and the food in the restaurant to be of the highest standard. I will continue to stay here and can highly recommend the hotel
This hotel is a real find. The staff are really friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and nicely furnished and the bed is really comfortable. Breakfast is excellent and make sure that you book it at the same time as your room for the discounted price. The 700 bus into town stops outside the hotel but you can't use your Key card on this one. Other buses are just a short walk away. Room prices are real value for money just for being a little further out of town. I will definitely book here again
Just got back from our stay at this hotel. It was wonderful. Staff were so friendly and kind, gave us tips of where to go. Our family room overlooked the sea and was so comfy, it was very reasonable. My friends could not believe we got such a lovely room for the price. Parking was fine it is a little tight so if you drive a big car you may struggle but parking over the road is free at night. A real plus in Brighton. The breakfast was very tasty. Will definitely be visiting again :)
As above; stayed twice and it never fails to impress me. It's clean and bright. Got a room with a sea view this time and it's great. I stay away on business on a weekly basis and I always look forward to coming to Hove so that I can stay at the Princes Marine. The restaurant is great. Good selection of food on the menu. Only negative thing I have to say is that the middle pane of glass in my room is starting to condensate, so the view is obscured. Still 5 star rating from me as it's a very minor point (Room 2) Staff are helpful and friendly. Nice to see the same faces, which rare these days. Well done. Keep up the good work ?? I will be back. Highly recommend
This was not my first choice as the hotels were extremely busy this particular weekend but I was not disappointed. The Hotel is 2 miles from the town centre along the Esplanade which is within walking distance if you fancy a long stroll. The reception is small but quick to check you in, there is a bar and restaurant as you walk in with internet facilities. We were given room 8 which overlooked the car park and was very well presented with all amenities such as widescreen TV, tea/coffee making, and free wi-fi. After a few hours in the room though we asked to be moved as we were right above the kitchen and all we could hear were the clanging of pots and dishes. We asked for a seaview and were given room 3 on the ist floor overlooking the sea. This was a family room with a huge double bed which was very comfortable. The Hotel is busy up to about 11pm then it goes quiet so a good nights sleep is guaranteed. Shut the window though as the traffic along the front is constant. The only gripe about this room was that we could hear the scraping of chairs on the hard floor in the restaurant below us which was not a problem in the evening but annoying first thing on a Sunday. When we checked out we mentioned this and they kindly waivered the extra £20 charge to move to a sea view room. We had breakfast across the road at Marroccos restaurant which was very good. we also had dinner there. The hotel is £12.95 for breakfast all in which I found a bit pricey. There is 24 hour room service as well To sum up, a very pleasant hotel with friendly staff, out of the way of the town right on the front. Avoid room 8 as its noisy from the kitchen, ask for a top floor room.
Stayed here on business and had a lovely room on the top floor with a balcony and (just about) sea view. Service was excellent and food very good, although I was full of cold and didn't really appreciate it
Booked for two nights and upgraded to a superior room. The hotel is ideally situated on the Hove sea front with excellent views. Access to the car park is to the left hand side of the hotel, via a narrow entrance, had to withdraw the wing mirrors to squeeze through, found a vacant place and left it there for our duration as spaces are at a premium. A swift check in and up to our room on the fifth and top floor, well pleased with our room, large spacious room, well furnished, king sized bed that proved to be so comfortable, balcony with fantastic views, the huge bathroom is contained in a wet room and all spotlessly clean. The breakfasts were really good, with a varied menu. The staff we met were all pleasant and informative. We had a lovely short stay and would recommend this hotel to everyone.
We recently stayed here in a big group for the London to Brighton Off Road Bike Race. We needed a hotel that was close to the finish line, had parking, and could store a number of mountain bikes, and this place fitted the bill. The hotel is a little bit away from the centre of Brighton, nearer Hove, but it's in a good location directly across from the beach and within easy walking distance of some shops and pubs, although the hotel does have it's own restaurant and bar. The rooms were clean, big, and had all the amenities needed. We had a sea view room and it was lovely. There are drinks facilities, TV, WIFI, and the bed was big and comfy. I'd like to make a big point about how friendly and helpful the staff were. As mentioned we had a number of mountain bikes, and the staff let us use a locked room to store these safely, and they also let me park there from early morning the day of arrival, before I could actually check in, and also the following day they let me continue to park there, after we'd checked out, while we went into town to have a wander and get some lunch, basically saving us a lot of hassle and small fortune in parking charges - as anyone who knows Brighton knows, it is not the easiest or cheapest place to get parked! Nothing seemed too much trouble for them and everything was done with a smile. We will definitely be returning next year over the weekend of the ride, as we couldn't have chosen a more perfect stopover.
The location is just down the road from Hove beach. Nice clean room, decent bathroom. It was very warm when we were there, we didn't realise we could of asked for a fan. The barman was friendly and we had some lovely food there. Can't fault the place
Spotlessly clean hotel. ALL staff efficient, friendly and nothing too much trouble. Breakfast amazing & very promptly served - all freshly cooked, nothing sitting in trays. We did not eat other meals in hotel as visiting relatives. Car parking good - rather tight but manageable and free. Could not praise this hotel enough and we will definitely return. All staff deserve praise - they do a really good job which is appreciated. Also great location - we walked along the sea front to the pier, around The Lanes etc and managed to walk back !! Great hotel.
This was a business trip so only stayed 1 night. Room was a little dated but well maintained and spotlessly clean. My room service was speedy and the meal of Battered Halloumi arrived very quick and was enormous The room was huge and could sleep 4, bed was comfy Couldn't get BBC1 on the tv until the morning, however WIFI allowed me to stream it live with a little buffering. Breakfast was beautiful and freshly cooked, great scrambled egg and nice Sausages. lots of variety available All staff very polite. The best view of the beach when I woke and the sun shone to Will definitely come back.
Stayed at this hotel for four nights last week with my wife and elderly parents.only a short taxi ride from hove train station. Friendly reception staff and our room was clean and comfortable. We ate in the bar area three times over the four days we were there and the food was very good quality far exceeded our expectations. The breakfasts were also very good and a wide choice available. We didn't have a sea view but are available on request at a small extra charge. Good friendly hotel with good quality good and drink which I think was spot on.
Great location if you are visiting Brighton and surrounding areas. Boardwalk is just out front and it's a half hour walk to Brighton. Take the bus back, stops right out front. Our room was large, very clean and provided an excellent view of the sea. No A/C but fans are available at the front desk. Staff very friendly and in our case very helpful providing info on getting to London. Thank you!
Stayed for two nights, rooms with sea view, large, clean and comfortable, bathroom clean and well equipped extra towels provided on request. Staff couldn't have been more helpful and the food was good. No hesitation in recommending this hotel
This was our final trip to cricket of '16 season and the weather , the win and the excellent service at this hotel made for a perfect end to our summer. The only down side was the fact that it was so hot on return each evening and the windows don't open fully - H&S strikes again
Stayed here on a Friday night for a wedding in Brighton on Saturday. The room was excellent, large, airy and clean. The breakfast was good and prompt. parking is tight but free and is at the back of the hotel. We decided to walk into Brighton as we feared that our parking space would be gone on our return (arrive early for the best chance of a space). What stops it being a five? The area could be better but, to be fair, that's not the hotel's fault.
Lovely hotel and we were made to feel very comfortable and welcome as soon as we arrived. The rooms were clean and comfy, the staff were polite and very helpful. Would highly recommend and would definitely stay here again.
We visited in July expecting heat and sunshine and got rain and winds like a blustery April. Fortunately the hotel kept us feeling sunny during out stay with warm greetings from staff and magic tricks to entertain us from the concierge (how often is it they are sat reading a book etc?) The rooms were spotless, there was never a queue, the view was beautiful and the choice at breakfast was more than we expected. Above and beyond what we expected for our money.
We stayed here after my wife had ridden the London to Brighton charities ride. From check-in to checkout the staff were very friendly and helpful. The room and hotel were very clean and a pleasure to stay in.
Stayed here with my children and my best friend in two rooms, never again! There was a nasty smell that greeted us upon arrival. Although check in was at 2 there were bales and bags of towels strewn all over the landings and outside our room. We had requested dairy free options but there was nothing in the room and only offered soya milk at breakfast, no soya butter or yogurts at breakfast. Beds were awful as was the shower and there weren't enough towels. Manager was no where to be seen at check out and we were offered 20% off the bill (cost of breakfast) as the breakfast was inedible. Still ended up paying over the odds. I would of hoped for a significant reduction in price given the poor all round standards.
I stayed at this hotel for four nights, bed only, a double bedroom with a sea view. Squeaky clean throughout, attentive front desk service, reliable elevator and desk top in the lobby. A fridge and ironing board and iron were provided upon request, all in all I was completely satisfied with the hotel and services within. A bus stop outside the front door for a short hop into the centre of Brighton, and a fifty meter walk to the sea. I would recommend this hotel.
Stayed here with my 2 boys & mum, overnight. It is a really nice hotel, the room was lovely with 3 single beds & a double bed, with a large flat screen TV. Big wardrobe & a beautiful bathroom, we also had a sea view. I can't comment on the breakfast as we had to leave here early to catch the ferry, was disappointed that I couldn't have a refund on the breakfast as I had booked through booking.com, not sure what that had to do with it as I paid the hotel direct, that is my only reason I have given 4 stars, it would of been 5, other than that would highly recommend.
We stayed here for one night. The room was clean as was the bathroom however very badly designed. No where to put anything so had a feeling of where shall I put this and that - hopeless when one is travelling.
We stayed here at the end of August. It's a pleasant hotel in Hove outside Brighton city centre. Our room was spacious and clean. There are not any ACs but we didn't feel any need. Great location just across the beach. Very friendly staff - at the reception restaurant and bar. Quick and efficient check in. Dodgy lift though. I was a little scared. It definitely needs changing. Thanks very much for a lovely time.
Stopped 3 nights last week 2 nights in room 49 and 51. These are the newest rooms in the hotel and are on the top floor and have a door which opens to the small terrace looking towards the beach huts and sea. Both rooms spotless comfy beds and modern furniture. Room 49 was smaller but had bath and shower . In this room the Internet signal was poor and if at the desk kept dropping off. Room 51 larger room and adapted for disabled access as had wet room. Both rooms had powerful showers. Staff professional and friendly. Parking is extremely limited at the hotel but you can park on the sea front in the evening time free of charge. I didn't eat at the hotel as there are several restaurants within walking distance. I would happily return to the hotel and would recommend the hotel Pay the extra and have a sea view room with a balcony
Very clean and modern. Staff friendly and helpful. Food excellent. Good facilities. Good location to access all parts of Brighton and Hove. Only downside was not enough parking spaces although on street parking is available.
Excellent room on the top floor with balcony, overlooking the beach and sea.Fab TV and in room facilities.Car parking is restricted but there is plenty of space on the sea front.Great location if visiting Brighton, you can walk there along the promanade! Great Breakfast served by Smiling attentive team Thank you
I stayed here with some friends recently, as part of a Hen group. This hotel is about a 10 minute cab ride outside of Brighton center, and was perfect for us. The staff are extremely obliging and pleasant. Rooms are a decent size with comfy beds, and the bathroom was spacious and very nicely decorated. It was very hot while we were there and so we were showering at different times during the day and there never seemed to be an issue with hot water. A fan was provided in the room, as was a hairdryer. There were plenty of toiletries, and no issue with getting extra tea bags when requested. There is a bar / restaurant downstairs, we had a drink there one of the evenings and it was lovely to sit and look across at the beach and the sea. We went for a walk along the promenade one evening and it was just lovely. So nice to be able to do stuff in Brighton, but escape the crowds too and get back to this lovely quiet hotel. We didn't have breakfast there so I can't comment on that. Very happy with our stay, and thanks again to all the staff. Especially Dave the night porter who entertained us with magic tricks!! Would definitely recommend if you want a quiet stay near Brighton. Also plenty of restaurants and cafés nearby within walking distance.
Outside appearances aren't everything! inside this is a welcoming hotel and a short walk from the Brighton Doughnut (sorry BA). Comfortable with no complaints, ate out in the evening, breakfast great. Rooms at the back receive a lot less sun and would recommend, unless you want a sea view.
I booked this fairly last minute so that we could spend time with family. What a pleasant surprise. A large, spacious room facing the back.slower over the bath might be awkward for some. Everything was clean & the bed super comfortable. We didn't use the bar or restaurant but they looked very inviting.. The car park entrance is narrow & hard to negotiate but we found a park right in the front which was better for our large hire car. Remember this is Brighton and even here, away from the entertainment strip of Brighton, there are party goers arriving back in the early hours. This wasn't too much of a problem & it was Pride weekend. We will definitely stay here again but maybe away from thrift!!
Room was huge, clean and comfy perfect location really even if it meant us walking along the beach to get into Brighton but that didn't bother us... Defiantly recommend! Didn't have breakfast so can't tell you what that's like as I wasn't paying £10 each for breakfast if you walk about 5 minuets along the beach there's loads of cheaper and probably nicer places to have breakfast
Lovely friendly hotel breakfast was fab had a room that faced the sea tea and coffee making facilities in room always got a couple of packs of biscuits each day. Breakfast was superb with lots on offer. Was a nice stay for work as its not what you want to do be away from home but if I am I like nice friendly places and this suited that bill. Hotel was spotlessly clean
What I like about Best Western Hotels is that they are independent and therefore have an interest in you as a paying customer. The positives for this hotel were: clean room and properly serviced each day; appropriately furnished; the hotel was not worn down and carpets were in good condition; staff were friendly; bed was good and managed to get a parking space. The negatives were: a sea view room means overlooking the main road, the green and then the sea. The reason I raise this is because the road does get busy around 7 in the morning and if your window is open, the traffic may well wake you. We were on the first floor above the restaurant/breakfast room which had tile flooring. The flooring meant that chairs or tables or some heels made a noise which could be heard in the room which could well wake you in the morning starting about 7am. If you sleep between 11pm and 7 the room was lovely and quiet, ideal if you are a business traveller. We didn't try the breakfast or evening meal because Hove has loads of cafe's, pubs, restaurants and shops on Church Street, a short walk away and many are also independent and are great. There is a bus stop right outside of the hotel that will take you into Brighton town centre or you can get one from Church Street.
An ordinary building, lucky enough to be on the seafront, staffed by cheerful and polite souls. Breakfast is the highlight. Good food and courteous service. The hotel is not air conditioned and in the summer the building is exposed to the full strength of the day long sun. It gets very hot. Parking is tight both in numbers and the squeeze factor. Navigating the access requires advanced skills. On our visit the car park was full for most of the time.
Back in 2007, my first international trip and I landed in this COSY and Comfortable place. The bar has a piano which anyone can play if they know how to which really made my trip awesome. They accepted travellers cheques as well without ado. Hope it's still as good!
Very impressive hotel and with matching staff All so clean, lovely homemade food, though not for the light eaters as portions are tremendously large , nice clean rooms and bar areas, everyone their is pleasant and professional Car park on site though first come first service as gets filled up quick
From the front a nice place to stay looking right onto the beach in the quieter area of the sea front. We managed to get into the carpark at the back which was free to use always good as we stopped in a ncp in Brighton that was £5 per hr. If you cant get a space the on street parking is very cheap out on the front. Our room was pleasantly decorated with a large bathroom with bath. Our room looked out over the carpark at the back of the hotel this was actually a good thing as it was in the shade and much cooler than any rooms at the front. The good point for room 9 however stop their. Under the room is the office area and the kitchen. Durring the day after we checked in we unpacked and thought it was a bit loud from the kitchen but didn't think it would carry on. On our first night we had to ring reception after 11pm to complain about a personal walking up and down the tiled floor in heels ever few minuets. The receptionists response was " o yes that will be me in going home soon don't worry" well thanks for that and a small sorry would have been nice. In the morning at 6:08 I was woken up by the kitchen staff preparing for breakfast I did get back to sleep but kept being woken up by banging and general noise. The second night was no different with the clip clopping like billy goat gruff on the tiled floor below us till around 11.15pm. Woken again at 6:10 am by the kitchen start up. We decided to get up around 8 as it was just annoying both of us. Both of us decided to pack checkout and drive home as we were both more tired from poor sleep than before we came for a few days away. I would defiantly stay away from room 9 and 10 being next door and over the kitchen. We didn't bother to eat in the restaurant or bar so cant comment on them. When we checked out no one bothered to ask if we enjoyed our stay. would I stay again No and if you do book please ask not to have room 9 or 10. ps the shower curtain in room 9 is next to useless as a large pool of water collects in the corner of the floor no matter what you do with the curtain.
Overall Average... Small Room: No Air conditioning. Pigeons on the balcony: very noisy. Overpriced Bar/room service wine list. This hotel is in Hove...so quite a walk to Brighton. Would I stay here again: No.

Dear Martin, Thank you for your review of the hotel. I'm sorry to read your comments regarding the heat in the room- the days you were here we did experience a mini heat wave- there was a fan in the cupboard which I hope you saw and we have extra fans at reception. Our drink/food menu is online we other hotels and we pride ourselves on our food being homemade. Kind Regards Jonathan Ailion
Arrived late to find staff ready with our information and room clean. Staff were all friendly and very helpful. Breakfast very good with good selection. Only down side is the lack of parking if you arrive late!
Recently stayed at this hotel. We booked 2 rooms one of which was an executive room with terrace, although a small double the view was fabulous over the channel - for a special occasion really lovely for the price. We had a meal the first night and can highly recommend the lamb chops - superb. Breakfast which was included had a very good selection. The staff were really helpful, nothing was too much bother and they are always smiling
This is a nice hotel. This was our third time.so no problems before. No lift is no joke when your room is on the fourth floor. It's no joke at any time. We were at the rear of the hotel and the wifi was at best intermittent
Great hotel and very friendly and helpful staff. The room was great, very comfortable bed, spacious room and bathroom. Right next to the beach and a longish walk to Brighton Pier. There's a car park out back that fills up quickly but plenty of street parking otherwise. We enjoyed our stay.
Courteous staff and a mostly good feel to the hotel. Although the lift was out of order, I was forewarned very politely so it was no problem. The room was clean and had a kettle & tea/coffee. Plenty of breakfast options, although I didn't partake.
Nice place across the road from Brighton beach. Friendly and helpful staff. Clean, tidy and nice rooms. Has a bar and restaurant. Good breakfast available. Located a bit away from main centre of Brighton. Lacked enough parking on site; first in, first served.
Reasonably priced for the area Clean and comfortable and friendly service Unfortunately the lift not working but at check in was offered help with bags Overall a pleasant stay and would use again when I'm the area Hotel is situated on seafront so a walk along the beach and to the pier is easy enough
We stayed at the hotel for three nights and were generally satisfied. The room was clean and well equipped with a newly renovated bathroom. We chose the hotel for the free onsite parking and did get one of the coveted spots. As reported the approach is very narrow and we were thankful for our economy sized rental. One negative however was the non functioning elevator, requiring us to walk up four flights with our luggage! I understand breakdowns occur and repair may not be immediate, but if you require a guest to climb four flights surely a free breakfast or some other concession is in order?
i found a member of staff to be rude to me in the morning - which I didn't like at all. And the breakfast selection was a disappointed and it was not nice. I wouldn't book here again, I would prefer somewhere more modern with wifi that actually works.
I stayed in a refurbished room on 5th Floor which was very good. I wanted to catch the morning ferry - opportunity for an early breakfast would have been good. Staff were helpful though and the location convenient for what I needed.
We always stay here when we are in sussex. The staff always go out of their way to help with any issues you may have, if you don`t let the staff know if something is wrong how can they fix it. It is right on the seafront with a bus stop right outside but its only a 20/30 mins walk along the promenade into the town centre. Car park is free but limited amount of space after 4pm with business people arriving, free parking on the street from 8pm till 9am and theres a carpark at the side of the leisure centre. You can pay a fortune for hotel rooms in this area and at the end of the day all rooms look the same when you are asleep.
Let me say first we have stayed at this hotel many times before and never had any problems sadly not this time .... We booked a Saturday & Sunday night which cost £249 so not cheap the room was nice and clean our first problem was on Sunday we returned to our room around 5pm no housekeeping had been done so we had no clean towels .... However we got ready to go out on Sunday evening and my partner went to reception I stood back to let her explain to the lady .... She told her we had not had our room serviced we had no clean towels no loo paper no tea or coffee and dirty cups . The lady said she would sort it out but as soon as my partner turned around the receptionist pulled a strange face at her ! I don't know why this was done as my partner had not been rude or raised her voice . We went out and returned at around 1130 ish and no body had been near our room . We left it that night and spoke to a manageress in the morning . Off course by then we were checking out . As I said we have never experienced this service at this hotel before however it did spoil what was a lovely weekend .

To Garry, Thank you for your recent review of the hotel, I am pleased to read your positive comments on arrival and the bedroom. I am really sorry to hear your room wasn't serviced on Sunday - I have also looked into and spoke to the lady on the front desk at the time- and I can assure you she was a little upset to hear your about your room and her facial expressions were not meant to cause a negative feeling towards you at all. Please do give me a ring next time you visit. Kind Regards, Jonathan Ailion
Good hotel close to Brighton, but far enough away to be more relaxed. Excellent staff, especially the night man, Dave. Very helpful, and knows the area well. Rooms are average for this class of hotel. On the main Brighton to Worthing road, but traffic is not too heavy so noise level is ok.
We arrived about half 12 in the afternoon which at this point there were only 2 cars in the car park. So we easily got parked. I would say it got full early afternoon as we could see the car park from our hotel window. The car park entrance is quite narrow, not sure how but 4x4s did get through. Luckily our room was ready so we got to check in early. The reception staff were very friendly, we spoke to 3 different staff members and all seemed helpful and welcoming. There is a massive lift which I think my nan would use even with her fear for them. We had a room on 2nd floor by the lift. I thought we might get some noise but actually we heard nothing from the hotel or the other rooms. In the morning when we were waiting for the lift we could hear every word of the conversation in the room next to us, yet we couldn't hear any of it in the room so the walls must be nice and thick and the doors leave all noise out. The beds are super comfy. The bathroom is nice and modern. All facilities you need are there. There's a big TV which was a nice surprise. Plug by one side of the bed. Chairs and a big wardrobe. The room was surprisingly large, it would have been ideal for a whole weekend. There was a towel rail in the bathroom which was a nice surprise. We walked to Brighton and back twice. The walk was about 30 minutes at a slow to steady pace. We did it once in the evening and in the afternoon and it was quiet both times along the main road. There was a free phone at reception to call taxi's, the taxi arrived in under 5 mins and cost 8 pound to get to the lanes. Breakfast was a nice surprise. They had a decent continental selection which you would expect from a B&B, with the option to choose a cooked breakfast. This was either full English, or eggs cooked in several different ways ie eggs benedict, omelette, scrambled. I had eggs florentine and they were perfectly cooked. All in all a excellent hotel for the money and I would stay again.
We enjoyed our stay and were very happy with the top floor seaview and balcony. Large double bed and nice quality bedding lovely bathroom. The evening meal in the restaurant was excellent a great Belly of Pork dish with apple sauce root veg and Rosti. Just one thing to watch, breakfast was NOT included and for the price, compared to the Old Ship in Brighton for instance, this would be my only complaint.
We booked this hotel fairly last min for a family celebration, check in staff were very helpful and announced we had the best room in the hotel. As a frequent traveler for business i took this with a grain of salt having been told the same on many occasions only to find the room was the size of a broom cupboard right next to the lift. On this occasion they were totally right ..double aspect windows with a great view of the sea a sofa to relax on and recently refurbished ..whats not to love!. Don't be put off by the dated exterior it hides a gem insde!
This is a clean and comfortable hotel. The lack of air conditioning may mean that it gets a bit hot in better weather though, and the windows have safety devices fitted which prevents them from being opened very far. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The hotel is also right on the seafront so is in a good location. The free wireless is like most other free wireless, a poor experience, and I gave up in the end and used my phone signal instead. Apart from that it is a pleasant and reasonably priced hotel in a great location. I would certainly go back.
Every time I visit Hove on business I am amazed by the quality of food that is placed in front of me! This is beyond any expectations I first had when I decided to 'stay in' to eat. The service is great, the food arrives promptly and never disappoints. Always seafood specials on the board. I think I'll 'eat in' next time as well!
The room was small but well decorated and very clean. We weren't bothered about the size because we were out and about. The staff were friendly and helpful. The car park was full when we arrived as it is quite small so i would recommend arriving early otherwise you have to find on street parking which can cost a fair bit. The location is fantastic for the beach and the price was very reasonable. I would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone.
This was booked by my company for me while on business in Brighton City centre and it was not really suitable for my needs. It was approx. 2 miles from the City centre so taxi fare in and out of city, parking very limited at hotel and street parking is coin operated only, breakfast was pretty basic, the hotel rooms are in need of a facelift. The whole hotel had a old fashioned feel about it which some people may feel is seaside charm but not me on business. Had an evening meal which was OK. Rooms however not designed for people needing to work on laptops etc. Will not be staying here again while on business
Excellent hotel - service from lady at reception was exceptional. Hotel slightly dated, but excellent location. Breakfast satisfactory and served well. The only grip would be the price - a little expensive I thought for a solo traveller. However probably comparable to other hotels in this area. Would recommend.
My partner( who is quite forthright) booked a room through booking.com . this was supposed to be a double. When we arrived the receptionist/front of house accused my partner of having made a mistake as the system showed her having booked a single room( with twin beds? ). The situation went from bad to worse as the receptionist ( Patricia B) continually pressed my partners buttons and seemed determined to escalate the problem rather than looking for a solution. We seemed to be charged a lot of money to resolve things and this was far in excess of what had been advertised. Patricia had less than zero customer skills . Her sole input was to wind us up ( and I'm a fairly relaxed dude) I had to use my management skills to partially defuse an awkward situation. In all it was very unpleasant experience. The receptionist clearly had severe issues/problems and probably needs to be locked in a cellar , as far away from customers as possible.
Great hotel, great location and great service. Had an extremely pleasant stay at this hotel. A lovely location on Hove seafront away from the busier Brighton. Very impressed with room and the breakfast was delicious.
I booked this hotel as it is one of a very few in the Brighton area with parking. Although this is limited I knew I would be OK as I would arrive early (at lunchtime). I was given a very friendly and efficient welcome, and, indeed all the staff were most helpful and pleasant. The room was large and most comfortable. T V and wifi were fine. I didn't eat here so can't comment on the food. I come to Brighton quite often while visiting my daughter and will definitely use this hotel again.
This sea front hotel has everything on its doorstep without the litter, noise and impossible parking of Brighton. Uninterrupted sea views, Hove lawns across the road, regular buses to all the Brighton attractions or further afield along the coast. It has just had a major refurb adding several penthouse rooms with spectacular views. As it is a small hotel there is a small, tightknit staff who function as a friendly team. There are some long serving staff so not the staff turnover that make a hotel less personable. Phillip is in charge of the restaurant and is very obliging, a real asset. The housekeeping staff are efficient. It is the sort of hotel that is perfect if you are travelling alone as a woman. Not intimidating to eat alone in the bar. The restaurant seems under used yet the menu is diverse and the quality of the cuisine exceptional with very reasonable prices. The chef has been there for ten years. The rooms are comfortable, well proportioned, light and airy. The only improvement could be the addition of a mini fridge but that is because we stay for ten days at a time and it would be convenient. It has all the facilities of a chain hotel (Best Western) with the friendliness of a family hotel. We will be booking up for the Brighton Festival 2017.
Stayed in one of the amazing sea view rooms on the fifth floor, not very spacious, but did the trick for one night! Great to have a small terrace and go out to overlook the beach but again not overly big, you can't sit out and even out there is no smoking so you can't enjoy sitting out with a drink and a cigarette after a night out or before going out! Great location for going out in Brighton, a very short taxi ride cost us £6-£7 each way!! Would definitely stay again for a night out in town, well worth the short taxi ride for the amount you save on the expensive hotels in central Brighton!
We shall come back to the very clever magic tricks that greeted our late night return to the hotel but our short stsy was very comfortable in our executive room on 5th floor overlooking sea. Bed very comfortable, room tastefully decorated. Big plus was huge flat screen TV with HD channels. The only reason we didn't have breakfast was our eating Kaye with griends the night before and wanting to explore Brighton. Only caution is staying in Brighton during festival time is expensive due to rooms disappearing fast but we liked being a bit away from the hubbub and bustle of the city centre and we enjoyed our stay. The night porter entertained us on our return with a couple of clever magic tricks which rounded off our entertainment and we found all the staff very efficient and polite.
The hotel looks small from the outside and the parking is minimal, even though we managed to find a spot. The rooms are a decent size and a king sized bed is a must for me and it was very comfortable. In addition the bathroom was very generous in size. SO from my point of view it was better than expected. There r were also good views from all angles in the hotel.
I booked this hotel under the impression that £69 for a double room for one night only to arrive and be told that breakfast was not actually included after all continental was an additional £9.95 personally was very annoyed as if I had known that I would have booked a B&b so be careful of the misleading information when booking . The room was nice and clean and comfortable but personally two sachets of caffeinated coffee and 4 little milk caps for two people overnight was pretty stingy so overall wax not that great .
We had my husbands 70th birthday luncheon party In the function room yesterday We were delighted with the friendliness, efficiency and helpfullness of all the members. Of staff They couldn't have been more amenable with us setting up the room for the celebration The food ( a finger buffet )was really superb with great choice and presentation . Just a perfect day .
Had a great time. Room with a sea view and full breakfast every day. Excellent food. The matre'd, "Phillip", took great care of us at our family dinner. Very accommodating, professional gentleman. We had meals at the hotel on many occasions during our two visits in 2012 and this year. Each evening there were various "specials" offered along with the standard menu. The Bar was intimate and service excellent. The reception ladies were very knowledgeable and accommodating.
Our room, overlooking the downs, was spacious and well appointed. The ensuite bathroom was also a good size. We found the staff efficient and helpful. The hotel is well situated and within easy walking distance of shops and restaurants. The Ginger Pig just around the corner is very pleasant for lunch. A stroll along the promenade was enjoyed. I would certainly recommend this hotel for a long or short break.
We stayed here in July 2015 and thoroughly enjoyed Brighton. Upon arrival we parked up which is a massive plus and were greeted with some very attentive staff. Unfortunately the room wasn't quite upto scratch the bathroom floor was at an angle and you roll coins from one side to the other with ease. The rest of the room was quite dated and I must say, not much of a 4*
I booked this hotel for a getaway for my partner and myself, with no deposit to pay and turn up - stay - and pay... it cost me £244.00 for the two night stay which was acceptable for the clean and spacious room......What is not acceptable was without informing me on the first night of my stay they took £89.00 from my card account as a deposit which was not supposed to happen unless we never turned up! I have spoken with the carefree staff who informed me that they were sorry and that it would be put back in my account......six days later and it has not been returned. Now I am going to go to the police to try and get it returned.....my advice is be aware!
The hotel is good value and a nice place to stay. The parking is tricky is you have a large vehicle as the space to drive into the carpark is so narrow. The rooms are good and if it works in your budget get a sea view room it is worth it. Opt to eat in the restaurant it is great value and top food. The waiter is so keen to make sure you are well looked after, it makes the meal an experience. Top marks to the team.
The parking is a big plus as any regular visit to Brighton and Hove will know. Recently redecorated and smarter than it was, but this is a dated building which would be difficult to make into something special. It is very well situated right on the seafront within walking distance of Brighton itself.
Good stay. Stayed at this hotel several years ago and it then was rundown and very disappointing. Not so on this occasion. The decoration and overall comfort was greatly improved. The staff were excellent and the place was generally very clean. Our only problem was that the pillows were a little uncomfortable. We would certainly chose this hotel again when we stay in Brighton or Hove.
This was a return visit over the Brighton Marathon weekend and as rooms had all gone apart from the most expensive we were able to enjoy a sea view and balcony. The room was clean and comfortable (although I wish the mirror was placed so I could see my reflection in it when trying to do my hair, and the pillows were a bit too high for me). Staff were friendly and helpful, especially Phillip the waiter. There's a bus stop immediately outside the hotel with a frequent service so no need to take the car into Brighton. Parking is quite tight, take your smallest car! Delicious breakfast filled us up for the day. We'd definitely stay here again.
I actually really liked staying here. Even though the weather was drizzly, the spot is pretty - right across from the beach and you can actually walk into Brighton - it's only about 25 minutes or so. Hove itself is a nice place and I was there for a weekend of training. I'd absolutely recommend this hotel - the staff are friendly, bar and food good, rooms a good size and very comfortable. It was a little noisy but nothing the establishment could do about it. All in all, enjoyable stay.
We had a great two night stay here. The staff were all so lovely, especially the gent orchestrating breakfast, he remembered us the second morning and got a high chair already set up at the table! He talked to our daughter and was so kind and friendly. The hotel was clean and tidy and our family room was huge!! I would highly recommend this hotel for a stay! We will definitely stay here again.
We recently stayed here for my mum's birthday, it's our second stay. The biggest downfall is you can hear every noise, I could even hear the chairs in the dining room being moved. It's in an excellent place for hove beach and a 10min walk into brighton. One last thing to complain about is my mum and I came with her guide dog granted she never worked him due to it being a rest for him as well as her, however she had his vet book and he had a guide dog flash on his lead. When we left the receptionist that was on was almost quizzing my mum on her dog which I didn't think was appropriate, she ruined the end of the holiday which up to that point was very enjoyable except for the noise. Also if you request disabled parking make sure you don't use the car for your stay there as when you get back it will be gone and then if you park next to the disabled bay you get asked to move your car, but saying that it seems to be if your face fits you get away with it as several people did during our stay!!
Just as described but kinda reminds me of a motel but without much parking (we didn't need a parking space but just letting drivers know). We booked a sea view room and that's what we got! Can't complain, just a few little things to note: shower is very slippery so use the non-slip mat provided. The reception area is a little bit dated. The great thing is that it's not too close to the heart of things so it was quiet and we slept so well. We got there really late (past midnight), but the guy at reception was super understanding and incredibly welcoming actually. Wish check out time was later than 11am but the sun was shining bright so wouldn't have wanted to keep our eyes closed anyway. It's such a great walk along the beach back to the pier, you really get to enjoy more of it when walking from this hotel.
wonderful place! Superb, large room with excellent facilities. Bed very comfortable and shower / bathroom clean and plenty of towels and hot water. Very powerful shower. Breakfast the best! Plenty of choice and personal service. Nice touch with toast brought to the table - no 'do it yourself'. Extremely good staff - very helpful and friendly. Deserves more than 3 stars. Even the heating can be regulated. Would not stay anywhere else. Bus right outside the door takes you into the centre of town within 10 minutes. Home from home (or even better). thanks all
The room and the view were both amazing. Bed really comfortable. The bathroom was really clean and cozy. Really high standard of cleanliness. I would really reccomend this hotel. Only 15 minutes by bicycle from Brighton city center.
I came here off season for work & for its location I'd imagine it's pretty busy in holiday season because it's in a cracking location. It is though showing its age, but that said its actually okay. Rooms are nice and big and clean, the staff were nice. Ticks the boxes ??
Not bad Hotel considering it a 3 star. Neat and tidy friendly staff and breakfast was really good. Good value for money only draw back might be that it is a bit far from city center. Otherwise we really enjoyed our stay.
Writing this review just after 5am which will give you an idea of the kind of sleep I have experienced here. Noise levels through paper thin walls, have spent the night hearing coughing, moving furniture, clunky lift, other folks toilet habits etc. Such a shame as the room is beautiful, as is the view. However if you can't sleep what is the point?? Just one really quick final point - restaurant menu says food starts at 6pm, and hotel info book says 6.30pm, so hotel could do with aligning these.
We stayed there this weekend. Twin room for two friends, was comfortable but very hot over night. Beds are comfortable. Staff were friendly and welcoming. On Saturday night the lift broke and was still out of order the next morning. It is just one of those things but we were thankful we were only on the second floor. Continental Buffet breakfast was ok and had a selection of everything but limited compared to other places I have stayed. I would have liked to see a larger selection of fruit salads, and more pastries. The juice actually wasn't juice but a really poor orange juice drink so this was disappointing. We opted for the cooked option and I specifically asked if the poached eggs were fresh - they develop a skin when held in a water bath and reheated and I don't like it and would have chosen scrambled - I was told categorically that everything was cooked to order so really disappointed when the eggs arrived and clearly were "hot held". The waiter had an almost sarcastic air about him when I pointed this out and he just walked away. It wasn't worth spoiling the mood by taking it further so I remained quiet. Car parking is very limited and a tight squeeze but we did get a space. There is a bus stop right outside the doors and 700 bus goes into Brighton town very frequently. We walked in to town and it says two miles but didn't seem that far. Taxi's later that night were costing under £9.
We had read some of the previous reviews on this hotel. So we were a little bit nervous on what to expect. The room was spacious clean and fresh I think newly refurbished with a sea view so very happy. Downside was the awful stench on the landing outside our room made me physically wretch. Oh and the fact that as we checked out the receptionist didn't utter a word to us at all never mind ask if we enjoyed the stay !!

Dear Julie, Many thanks for your recent review of our Hotel. I'm happy to read your positive comments regarding the sea view room- we do now have new rooms built ready for 2016 with private Terraces sea view which are amazing- maybe for next time! You are correct about the damp smell- we unfortunately had a burst pipe- which wasn't picked up until the morning- I'm happy to say the rooms are back in action now and all smells have gone! Thankfully its very rare this happens!!! I have spoke to front desk staff regarding your comments- again please accept my apologies as this is not the norm- most comments are normally very positive regarding the staff. We do hope to welcome you back to the hotel soon. Kind Regards Jonathan Ailion
enjoyed our dinner and the breakfasts. Staff friendly and helpful. The room was very comfortable but the first 24 hours was like being in a sauna. After the manager came up and showed us the heating control was on the adjacent wall and not on the radiator! - then with the windows open the room cooled down. Parking is available (very narrow entrance) which is better than many of the hotels further east. Would stay again.
Stayed last year, and came back again this year. Last year there was building work going on but that is all completed now and our seaview room had been completely refurbished and was all excellent and comfortable. We were a bit surprised our room was a fully fitted disabled room with a ramp into the shower, perhaps a bit dangerous for walking guests, if I were fitting a bathroom I would not put the only shelf over the toilet cistern, not that hygienic and in the way if you want to change the inside of the cistern, this shelf was not large enough and there was space to right of basin for some shelves. Room 18. but we had a lovely sea view and we were very comfortable. Most staff were excellent, good service polite and helpful, felt the barman could do with more training for his job. But good value, good food, good service and will stay again. My comments may seem a bit negative, but they are my thoughts and may help the owners to make a good hotel even better.
Stayed here over a weekend in March 2016. The location is a little distance from the centre, however a walk on the sea front, or down the high street is an excellent route to the pier area. The hotel breakfast is excellent, well prepared and presented. Evening food is very good. The staff and the service can only be described as first class. Everyone was very attentive and gave the impression they genuinely wanted all the guests to have the best experience they can. Well done all at the hotel.
From the moment i arrived i was met with friendly helpful staff, who were able to advise local buses into Brighton (just a few minutes walk away), or other nearby places. They had a car-park that had about 12 bays. The twin bedded room came with a proper kettle (instead of a machine that takes pods) with coffee, tea and chocolate to drink; plus a hairdryer There was not a fridge, but that was not a problem. The shower was lovely and hot, and the bathroom clean. Apparently i could have upgraded for £10. I was able to open a window a little bit, so i could breath properly instead of air-conditioning. A cooked breakfast was too daunting, but tea/coffee and toast for £3.95 was just what i needed. There usual jams were there, plus honey and my favourite, Marmite. If i was in the area i would definitely stay here again.
Pleasant Hotel and Staff, excellent kitchen, very clean rooms and public areas. One of the few hotels in Brighton / Hove especially on the seafront which has a private parking area. Location is superb, opposite beach and easy walk into town
Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Princes Marine Hotel. Staff were lovely and helpful. It was very clean and comfortable and has parking which was a bonus. I used the bar and the restaurant, and both were of good quality. The location is great as you overlook the sea with a 2 minute walk till your on the beach.
I stayed at the Princes Marine last weekend with my mother. The staff were very friendly and attentive. We had a beautiful sea view room with all the amenities you would need on a holiday. We both were very impressed with the hotel and it's value for money. I would recommend to anyone looking to holiday in Brighton or in the near by area.
We stayed for two nights while working in Hove, and playing in Brighton. Hotel provides a good view of the ocean (with a large road between you and the sea), decent breakfast options, and a great location for work in the area and access to the bus. Wifi is free and strong. Receptionist was very helpful with directions.
Exterior of hotel does not do hotel justice. The exterior had put me off before but the interior is really lovely. Décor is relaxing with clean beige carpeting. Lovely sea view, quiet, good sound proofing. Most staff were helpful and friendly.. Very good value for money. Might be better to state online that car parking is limited although staying all day is not too expensive on road nearby. Handy for sea, Brighton and Hove. I felt really at home. Would stay again and recommend..
we used this hotel for 7 nights while we was working in Brighton, we arrived at the hotel early and found out our room was ready we had room 12 which was at the back over looking the car park, to us not a problem as we only used hotel for sleeping after work, but you could upgrade to sea view room for a extra £10 twin bedroom was a good size two comfortable beds, and we had walk in shower tea/coffee making facilities ...room was clean daily with fresh towels etc. free wifi which was great, and what a top class breakfast in the morning great way to set yourself up for a days work and the staff in hotel always had smile and time for you,,like others have said the only problem is a small car park with very narrow entrance
Stayed for the weekend 19th / 20th Feb, the sea views are fantastic, very good breakfast menu with meals cooked to order. Large room with modern stylish fittings, comfy beds, very low noise level in day & night and friendly helpful staff. We stayed in room 28 on the 3rd floor and I was impressed. Very clean cared for hotel, Brighton Pier is a 2 mile walk from the hotel so easy access. Dave the night porter does a good impression of William Wallace from Braveheart, ask him if you see him of an evening! Will be back in the summer for another stay for sure.. A+
Firstly we arrived and saw a lot of signs about the carpark, this is down a very narrow passage, difficult to manoeuvre around it (at least with my big car) but found a space. Went to check in and someone was in front of me talking about moving rooms, another person quickly asked if they could help, however my room was just being given away to the person moving, so I had to wait for them to find another seaview room even though the other person said they were off out so could be arranged later? Our room was on the same floor just round the corner and was clean and tidy, large and fairly well maintained (Most of the hotel could just use a freshen up really). Beautiful seaview and when we arrived the sun was even shining in. I do think the maids could leave the hallways a lot cleaner when they are doing their job as we came out to an almost full hallway and had to pick our way through the mess or clean and dirty stuff from rooms. Right by some shops, restaurants and pubs and of course the sea. So location is great only a couple of miles from Brighton centre as well. I would go back and if they did a little extra they would get that fifth star from my rating.
We enjoyed the facilities of Room 4, which was a sea view room on the first floor. The bed was a comfortable Queen Size, with a large bedroom, a beautiful view to the sea and a spacious bathroom. We slept well and had a excellent breakfast, which was a buffet followed by a cooked breakfast. Excellent value for money. Limited car parking and a tight squeeze but very useful
This is now our Hotel of choice when we visit Hove and would never consider anywhere else. It offers clean comfortable accommodation and the landward facing rooms are the best as you can sleep with the windows open and not have the traffic noise. The hotel car park is not the easiest to use but nearby on street parking is easy to find in a safe neighbourhood.
Stopped in July 2015 whilst on business in area. Managed to find a space in the small hotel car park. Was given a sea view upgrade as a diamond for life member. Room was large and clean and it did have a sea view. Staff were friendly and food was good. I would happily return
We stayed at the marine hotel for one night February 2016, we have stay in Brighton many times but this was our first visit to this hotel, it certainly won't be our last. The food was top class, good portions and good prices. My room had a sea view was clean and perfect for my needs. A bus stop outside the hotel if you want to go into town although you can walk it in 20 minutes. The staff are excellent, well done best western I will be back
On walking into reception to ask about the car parking I was met by two receptionists having a good old natter. I stood waiting for a few seconds for one of them to acknowledge me, when neither did I said excuse me I need to know where to park please, this was met by a quick point of the finger in the random direction of over the road. We parked came back in and the same lady who was obviously not listening as she gave us someone else's reservation to fill in. Room was lovely and very clean , thank you cleaning people. We mainly booked as it said free car park on booking page, should of said you might get free parking if you hang around all day and wait..
Stayed in Hove rather than in Brighton this visit. Great sea view room over looking the beach huts. Good walk into town through Hove meant we got to see and experience some fab cafes and bars in Hove and get exercise walking into Brighton. Cab in the evening was between £8-£9. Bys stop right outside hotel. Small car park at rear. Staff helpful and room kept beautifully clean with chairs and table by the window to enjoy the view. Didn't eat in hotel as wanted to explore area and find nice place es in Hove - of which there are loads. Would definitely consider it again.
We found this hotel to be extremely over priced. The décor was dated, the service was poor and we didn't love the atmosphere. We ate dinner and breakfast in the restaurant and found the overall quality of the food to be very good. The restaurant service was great in the evening when the restaurant was empty, however the service went down hill in the morning when busy. Reception staff were generally quite rude and unhelpful. We notified them of a problem with our toilet continuously flushing of its own accord and nothing was done to rectify it.
Absolutely delighted with hotel and service. Room clean and comfortable, breakfast served quickly hot and delicious. Easy free parking and nice walk or bus trip to brighton. Would recommend. Sea view room very comfortable bed and helpful staff.
Just had 4 nights here and I was lovely. The hotel itself is a tad dated, but our room was massive, quite modern and very clean. All the staff were lovely, especially Phil the breakfast waiter who nothing was too much trouble for. Breakfast is cooked to order and the selection is fantastic. The 700 bus stops right outside and a return into Brighton was a little over £3
Excellent clean double room with sea views at very competitive price. Booking and check in seamless. Does everything it says on the tin. Worth a stay if you are in the area. Carpet difficult to get into if you have a large car. Great walks along the sea front.
Had a birthday party here no complaints party held on the top floor room we hired was lovely looked out to sea.Hotel arranged a disco for us.We also booked a few rooms for guests to stay over night .Breakfast was brilliant
This hotel was ok at best the room was like a box the view was great, but the building shook in the wind and vibrated. They also put the TV in the wrong place which you could see as the holes where visible. The key cards didn't work very well. The two receptionists I spoke to where lovely and the cleaner lady who helped us the first morning we where there was lovely, but the lady who served us at breakfast was miserable needs to crack a smile. The cost for staying for three nights plus breakfast was far too much and to park our car was tight like an alley. I personally won't stay there again.

Dear Kirsty, Thank you for your time in writing a review. I'm happy to read your positive comments about our staff- I will raise your comment with the restaurant manager regarding the staff member mentioned. You are correct about the Tv being placed wrong, I had your tv moved by samsung when they installed all the new 40inch tvs- I wanted to get it closer to the bed for a better customer experience. I do believe our prices to be very reasonable regarding our competitors prices- i think if you went 5 mins down the road- you would be shocked by the parking prices etc- this can be up to £30 a night customers have told me. Thank you again, Jonathan Ailion
I can honestly say my experience here was amazing. we stayed for 6 nights and loved every minute. The food is out of the world, the view is amazing. only 10 mins walk not Brighton town and loved the fact we could get out of the centre to. Prime location. amazing beach, lovely to walk across, swimming complex for kids across the road and staff are so friendly! there was 16 of us who stayed here and every one of us are heading back soon! thanks guys amazing xxx
Princes Marine Hotel Hove Not happy that the cheeky hotel snatched £89 out of our bank account two days before we even arrived!. Out of order in my book!. Especially as we wanted to settle up with cash. Upon arrival we also discovered we had only booked room only and had to pay extra for breakfast another £45 for three days worth. Bad start ok up to the 5th floor in the lift room 49 the lookout actually they should have called it 24 and a half because its so narrow you have to climb the bed to get past it. It feels like half a room very small width wise. The view is actually very good of the sea anyways. It's a new room I'm guessing it has a modern feel but you can tell it's all been done on the cheap!. I liked the desk that was pretty cool, also the tv is large, shame they drilled the holes in the wrong place for the bracket to start with. The bathroom was clean and the shower very good. We went out for the evening and came back about 9pm. Still felt a little hungry so decided to try room service. I ordered a beef burger it came with chips and onion rings and salad. To be fair I've had a lot worse in my time the chips were not bad. The burger was thick & tasty but not cooked properly still a little pink in the middle. The burger bun toasted I didn't attempt because it was frozen bread. The salad had been hanging about all day and was a little brown. The onion rings although cooked from frozen I've tasted worse so not too bad. Very expensive at £12.95 and for bringing it to the room £3.95 like I say excessive for a burger. As we are on the 5th floor and just into February the wind noise is so loud maybe the double glazing needs another layer of glass. It's howling. Went out on our balcony and it didn't feel safe felt like the whole building was moving about. The weather has not improved the wind and rain is so noisy up here. Even the wind blew up the lift shaft most unnerving. The staff were all quiet friendly but not that knowledgeable though. I asked about tide times they didn't know. I asked about parking zones again they didn't know. I asked about restaurants and recommendations no idea. The blond lady cleaner was very polite and helpful she had been with the hotel for three months. The breakfast lady needed to crack a smile once in a while and not just go through the motions. The breakfasts could have been better. I've been in B&B's that had more choice. Instant coffee I wasn't keen on the sausages or the bacon. The fried eggs were good. The scrambled were passable and the poached were slightly undercooked. The bacon was undercooked the mushrooms were excellent. Catering baked beans very average. They could learn a lot from our continental friends in the breakfast department to be honest. The only thing that drew us to this hotel was the sea view and the balcony but in hindsight if I ever go back to this area I'm going to book a hotel further out. Also they have a total no smoking rule even on the balcony which is ridiculous. The bed although large was really really hard not totally uncomfortable but more than firm. I felt very inclosed in the room and not rested after our stay at all if I'm honest. So to sum up I've stayed in much better hotels on the continent. This one seems stuck in the 80's it would be very near the bottom of my hotel lists. A bit faulty towers lol. I would never holiday here we came down for a mates party. Expensive for what you get not very good value for your hard earned money.

Dear Mhart1, Thank you for your recent review of the Hotel. I'm happy we met your expectations in certain areas, I'm sorry we did not meet in other areas- it seems there was a storm over the time you stayed- so I believe wind speeds were in access of 90mph or more along the coast so noise wasn't as quiet as we would of liked, cars were overturning and trees falling so it was a one off!! I understand you were charged before you arrived unfortunately its the way of the world now it seems in most hotels- booking.com does have a 48 hour cancellation notice so we do pre-authorize our cards within that time to stop no shows and in return the hotel business suffers if the card doesn't go through. I was shocked to read about you not being happy with the quality our Executive rooms with private Terrace most customers say to me they feel like they are in a 5 star hotel because of the quality- all brand new furniture was from high end hotel furniture companies with curtains fabrics from Laura Ashley etc- nothing was a cheap fit I can assure you. Maybe if you wish to book again I can offer you one of the larger rooms up there. Kind Regards Jonathan Ailion
We picked this hotel for its location to our nieces church wedding in hove. Access to the rear car park is narrow. We own a kia Sportage and managed to reach the rear car park only with our wing mirrors pulled in. Our room was clean and beds comfortable. There was some noise from internal water pipes. But as both my husband and I are heavy sleepers this wasn't always a proplem. Breakfast in the hotel was a good size. All staff were friendly and helpful.
Most welcoming and accommodating hotel, great location, great view. Easy access into Brighton with bus stops right outside. Good quality, locally sourced food. Only downside it's just a little bit pricey.
A very comfortable stay. Bathroom lovely and clean, could control the heating from inside the room (great!), tea & coffee facilities with biscuits. Breakfast nice but pricey. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Although it doesn't look great from the outside the hotel itself is lovely. Spacious rooms and very comfortable beds. Sea views from the bedroom window it was a lovely place to stay for the night. Lift needs updating and the chair in the room but overall great. Breakfast was very good quality and such a range of choice too!
We stayed for two nights in January, but the hotel seemed pretty busy judging from the available car parking spaces. Our room was well maintained, clean and very spacious with a huge double bed and a single. The room was warm - important in January! And we had a sea view, which was nice. We were opposite the lift, but not bothered at all by noise. The only let down was the quality of the food. We had arranged for friends to meet us there for a late lunch, not realising that the kitchen closed at 2.30 pm. (This information was not available on the website.) We ordered lunch at 2.15 and it arrived promptly. Unfortunately the two burgers we had were inedible. The bun was as hard as the wooden table, while the beefburger and bacon were not much better. The chips were fine. In fact, we could only eat the chips. Our vegetarian friends fared a little better, although their only option from the range of sandwiches was cheese and onion. We did not complain at that time as we were with friends and in a hurry to eat and get off to the theatre. In any case, we had been told quite emphatically that the kitchen was closing. We had intended eating dinner there (when we checked in this was being 'sold' to us quite heavily), but did not want to risk another inedible meal. We did complain the following morning, and the cost of the burgers was deducted, without any argument, from our bill. If this hotel can sort out their kitchen problems, we would have no hesitation in staying there again.
Firstly the positives which are a lot. Great position , wonderful room with bath and large comfy bed.staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast good and choice of bar or restaurant menu also useful. Parking not really an issue, if you do not manage to squeeze onto the car park there is amply cheap parking within 100yds. But the lift is so noisy! The room I was in 34- when the lift started it sounded like a jack hammer going off, then a sledge hammer when it stopped at a floor. I slept well but only between the last use of the lift at night and first use in the morning. So awake later and then awake earlier than I would like to have been. Everything else is excellent and really good value for money
We were a little bit wary, as from the outside it is not pretty. The downstairs areas are a bit clinical, especially the bar. It is not a place to sit and relax with an after dinner drink. The restaurant was very good and the food was varied and beautifully cooked. The staff were very friendly and worked hard. The room was large, newly refurbished and very clean the bathroom likewise. Our only grumble was it was over the kitchens and we could hear the kitchen noise late night and early morning. Having said that we slept well in very comfortable bed. Definitely go there again, well enough away from the stag and Hen hotels of Brighton. There was also some parking at the back which was first come first served, but we managed to park all three nights.
The car park is tight, I bet it fills up in summer, but no problem on a Monday in winter. Fast check-in and up to my room, sadly at the back, no sea view. Soon became apparent that the radiator wasn't going to work; I was moved without delay to a warmer room 4 floors up (still at the back sadly!) Nice decor, new bathroom, WiFi good, bed very comfortable, quiet at night but I could hear the lift operating, 1 room away. Shower a bit feeble, shame as it was top quality kit, let down by low pressure. Hot at least. Breakfast included a real continental choice (cheeses and salami) as well as traditional, and poached eggs. All with friendly service.
I have been staying here for years, always a joy - this time in a new 5th floor room (no 52) . How cosy it was, everything I needed, plus an even more fab sea view! Breakfast very tasty , nice to have fish. Thank you!
From the moment I entered until the moment I left I enjoyed every minute of my stay. Reception staff were great and the Breakfast staff couldn't do enough for me. I didn't want to leave and will be coming back again to stay very soon.
stayed here for 2 nights with my daughter. comfortable clean room. plenty of space , bed comfy. breakfast was very good. the staff were very welcoming & helpful. only down side was the window in the room needed updating as it was draughty & a little noisy. I would use this hotel again
We have stopped here many times and have never had any issues. The improvements they have made look great, new rooms, new bathrooms, room fittings ect ect all very pleasing. Room rates are very reasonable through the winter time and always a bonus is the free parking. Being right on the seafront is great too, bus stop right outside, takes you into town or great to stroll along the promenade, handy for local shops. The staff always put themselves out to help if you need anything or have any problems. We did not have breakfasts this time but when we do have them they are very filling and not short on choices. Would recommend to anyone.
Great location on the sea front, limited free parking but it's very cheap just opposite if you don't get a space. Very polite staff and very clean and tidy. Free wifi with good strength throughout. Highlight of Best Western is always the food and Princess Marine doesn't disappoint.
Stayed here for a couple of nights and had a wonderful room in the new development on the 5th floor. The room was extremely well fitted out to 4*+ standard. The staff are very efficient and friendly. Difficult to find faults.
My partner and I stayed here recently. We were in one of the new rooms on the top floor with a balcony, offering some stunning views of Hove seafront and beyond. It was a rather dull and windy day, but it didn't spoil the view. The room itself was very spacious, stylish, clean and comfortable and the ensuite bathroom was immaculate. We found the staff to be very welcoming and attentive- my Mother, who is disabled, and also a guest at the hotel- was very happy with the service and felt very cared for. Breakfast was really nice, and there was a good selection of cooked and buffet options. Again, the waiting staff were friendly and attentive. Other members of our family have stayed there over the years, and have equally enjoyed the experience. I would happy recommend this lovely, family run hotel to anyone planning on visiting Brighton and Hove
We stayed here for 1 night in late December 2015. We arrived pre check in time but our room was ready and check in was quick and efficient. The car park is a bit of a squeeze but it is well laid out with more room than I anticipated. Our room was very nice (room 33), very spacious and tidy and clean as a pin. Wifi was quick and free. The bar area is pleasant but the drinks were a bit pricey- also the bitter was too cold - minor criticism really. Breakfast was ok - pleasantly and speedily served. Check out was efficient and speedy. I recommend this hotel for a short stay.
The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Breakfast could be quite late and was nice. Very happy with double room, sea view. It was spacious and very comfortable bed. Used room service, decent risotto. Love Hove but getting into Brighton is 20 min fast walk, or just enjoy leisurely walk along beach to Pier /shops etc. This is where I'll stay for future trips. Claire
Stayed here overnight and when we checked in we didn't expect much. Reception area really needs a refurb - it's stuck in a time warp with old wooden doors which have vision panels. Check in was quick and efficient but the staff member was very business like, not exactly friendly or welcoming. Room was perfect - spacious, clean and warm. Breakfast was lovely. Staff friendly and efficient. Food was plentiful and nicely cooked and presented. Will happily stay again but investment front of house is overdue.
The staff were very friendly , the room was lovely and had sea views , we didnt have breakfast because we though £12.00 each for it was far too expensive so we went into Brighton for breakfast. The hotel is more into hove than Brighton but we had a lovely walk along the seafront to Brighton Town and there was lots going on along the way.
Check in ok. Room 17 was a fair size and overlooked the sea. The room was clean, but the net curtain was dirty with marks. The bed was rather soft and not good for a bad back. Breakfast table was small once you had the tea, coffee, milk, toast, jams, butter etc., there was no room for the cooked breakfast or to move. I didn't like the cooked sausage and the plate size was small so it was overcrowded with food. Very limited parking so we had to pay to park across the road. Upon leaving due to very poor weather we wanted to load our bags in at the pick up/drop off point outside the main entrance, but we couldn't because someone had left their car there all night and it was still blocking the entrance in the morning at 10.20am.
From the moment we stepped through the door the staff were so helpful and welcoming. We arrived Saturday November 28th the room wasn't ready left our case and went to the football. On return found we had been allocated a room on the top floor which was the Starlight room . The name was on the door and the room lived up to its billing. A very spacious room with settie ensuite a comfortable double bed a big screen TV on the wall and coffee tea making. The whole room was immaculate. A sea view was offered from the side window. On the night we went out to the Lanes and for a curry. Separate review. On returning late we were welcome back by the night porter David who entained us with magic tricks. When we said goodnight he said if we need anything just ring. This hotel ment it all the staff seemed to have one aim and that was to make your stay as pleasant special and as they could. They succeeded on all accounts Thank you. The cooked breakfast we had the next day was delicious.
Very Helpful Staff, room excellent very comfortable, breakfast choice extremely good. Location ideal for trips into Brighton centre only 2 miles away, with frequent buses only a five minute walk away Recommended
Fab hotel for access to Brighton for shopping and eating. Able to park up the car and forget it, Good bar and food on site. Bus service to Brighton & Marina. brilliant shops, only need someone to carry all the bags.
Stayed here for a couple of days on a long weekend away. Very friendly staff, free parking and a huge room with a sea view! The hotel is what I would describe as a 'hot' hotel and even with the radiators off we were still sweltering in our room and required the windows open - which presented a challenge in the driving rain and howling rain! Nevertheless, this hotel was clean, comfortable and we were well fed. Bus stops directly outside with regular (10 minute) buses into Brighton town centre or, off in the orther direction to Worthing and beyond! Alternatively, the walk to Brighton pier is about a 30 minute stroll. Good value and just what you need if you just want somewhere simple, clean and comfortable to use as a base. We will stay here again! PS; could do with mugs in the room instead of very small tea cups in order to get a decent quantity of tea or coffe down you first thing in the morning!
Really pleasant stay for one night, very spacious room for price charged - it was excellent value for money. Food was excellent and all staff were friendly and helpful. Great location right on the seafront.
Lovely room great sea view - newly refurbished. Fab breakfast with both continental breakfast buffet and various cooked breakfast options. Location was perfect, a pleasant 30 minute stroll along the promenade into Brighton. Also checked in early as room was available. There were a few car park spaces available when we arrived just after 1pm last Saturday , hotel perhaps a bit quieter now at this time of year.
We have stayed at the Princes Marine several times and always return when we are visiting our son. We have just spent 5 nights there in late October. The rooms on the front are spacious and well equipped with comfortable beds. The sea views are lovely, especially in Autumn and Spring when the sea is rough. The staff are very helpful and friendly. Breakfast is always good with plenty of choice. The cooked breakfast is good quality and freshly prepared to order. We had room service one evening and drinks and food were efficiently delivered to our room ands they were of good quality. We have observed that the hotel has been undertaking a gradual refurbishment programme over recent years which is improving the overall quality of the stay. We will be returning.
Stayed here with 3 other girls for a night out, great hotel and friendly staff. Stayed in a family room that all 4 of us fitted in 1 kingsize and 2 singles, also had a seating area.Room was massive, modern and very clean. Beds very comfortable. Just a short taxi ride to the pubs and club and cost just £8. 24 hour room service perfect when you you arrive back after a few drinks. Can't fault this hotel at all and would 100% stay again. Thank you for a memorable stay.
We had a room overlooking the sea, clean with a lovely view. The restaurant served a fixed menu but changed daily evening choices. The food was very good and beautifully presented. All the staff were professional, helpful, polite.
Having stayed here in the past we welcomed the changes made to upgrade the hotel. The rooms were more modern in decor and the addition of penthouse suites makes it an even more attractive destination. The staff are always friendly and helpful, and we were impressed with the Italian chef's cooking: portions were enormous which made us feel guilty leaving some. We shall certainly stay here again on our vists to Hove and Brighton.
I can't speak highly enough of the receptionists , especially Chris and Lisa - who were very helpful and happy to answer any questions i had about local amenities. They made me feel right at home and were extremely efficient.
Recently refurbished to a very good standard. The rooms are well equipped and are a good size. The staff were consistently very friendly and couldn't have been more helpful. We were very impressed with the choice of breakfasts which were beautifully cooked and presented in the pleasant restaurant. The hotel faces the sea and gives a very quick access to the beach and the wide promenade. The hotel is about a 30 minute walk to Brighton. A frequent bus service stops right outside the hotel and will take you to Brighton and most of the other nearby resorts. We very much enjoyed our stay and will definitely visit again. Recommended.
I use this hotel when on business and find the hotel nice and inviting, the decor is ok but could do with updating but saying that it doesn't affect my stay, The bar and restaurant looks nice but I have never used them as I usually eat out. There are plenty of places to eat nearby (Turkish / Indian / etc) within a 5 minute walk or you can go down in to Brighton for a wider choice. The parking is FREE which is a luxury in Brighton (compared to £20 at the Hilton if you stay overnight). I would recomment this hotel over the Hilton or Jurys.
Lack of parking out back, hotel was under refurb when I stayed, bed bases left in corridor overnight, and as this is an emergency escape route this was a clear breach of regulations putting everyone at risk. Should have known better!. Breakfast was poor and very expensive for the quality of food served and choices available. Cheaper to walk up the road to a cafe for a full English. Check out was delayed due to one receptionist being tied up on the phone. As this is a busy time maybe more staff required
Dave is the most hospitable and attentive gent I have met a genuinely nice guy with strong customer service skills and an ability to engage with customers from all backgrounds. I feel he should be recognised for his dedicated service to his role and that my last stay at the hotel due to a job change should reflect in the consistent level of service I have experienced. Thank you Dave for everything and many thanks a credit to your company. Mark
We have stayed at his hotel previously (2 years ago) and returned because of its convenient location. Sadly this time our experience was very disappointing. Whilst the hotel boasts of its "under construction" new rooms (an extra floor is being added) one can only presume all the spend is committed to that; meanwhile the rest of the hotel is suffering from underinvestment. During our stay the lights on our floor frequently went out ; the lift was out of action for 8 hours ; the mattress on our bed was so saggy I slept the night on the floor: and the building work left my car filthy dirty. In contrast to that criticism I must praise the staff. The "night porter" is hospitality and warmth personified. The lady on daytime reception was charming. And with just one exception (you know who you are unsmiling lady) the wait staff were keen to please. I am disappointed to therefore say I don't see us returning.

Dear DJH Moulsoe, Thank you for your recent review of the hotel. I'm a little shocked to read your comments regarding under investment of the hotel- I can confirm in the last two years we have fitted 50 new bathrooms to all our rooms- new carpets to all rooms (fitted Sept 2015) TVS. The 5th floor Refurbishment- I am happy to say is in its final month and should be open sometime in November, these will be very special with private Terraces. I'm sorry about the lift not working unfortunately this was out of our control - but I am happy to say all is working fine now. I'm happy to see the positive comments regarding our staff. I would really like to show the hotel is the true light- like many of our guests see week in week out- please do give me a ring to discuss your any future travel planes you have to Brighton/Hove. Kind Regards, Jonathan
good position on the seafront, easy walk to the 'the lanes' and town. very comfortable room, fresh and clean, very soft mattress though, could do with more towels .staff were brilliant and food really good .hope to return soon.
Hi, recently stayed in rm 38 on the 2nd October to 4th October 2015. Thank you to all the staff who made us welcome especially Phillip at breakfast. We had a wow room with a wonderful view. The food was fab and staff could not do enough for us. Thank you again and we will be back xx
room was too hot, no thermostat that i could see to adjust the room temperature so had to open the windows this then caused noise from the main road and people walking by late at night, also on first night after we checked in we went out for a drink and a meal on returning to our room we noticed that the self closing door had not shut properly leaving our room unlocked
The architecture and rooms were very standard but the location on the sea front was great. The staff were helpful from the start helping me park and giving me directions. The breakfast was terrific and huge. The highlight was Glaswegian guy who works at nights- he was legend! He fixed me a sandwich at 2am the first night and showed me magic tricks the second night! He could not have been more charming and helpful.
Have stayed here for over 25 years. Always good. Always clean and comfortable. Nice staff. Good location. Will always stay here when I have a stop over in Brighton. There is nothing to NOT like about this place!!
