Don't stay here!! Went to room and someone else was in it already all their personal belongings. My friend had three trips to reception before his room key actually worked- third time lucky. Came in at 11.20pm and was told the bar was shut. Apparently shut an hour ago although fresh pints had been poured for guys at the bar- friends clearly. Girl behind bar earlier at 6pm was lovely but said she hadn't worked behind a bar before and didn't know what a pino Grigio was and said her boss was stressed out. Try hat was obvious!! Total nightmare of a place!!
The upgrade to the hotel is very good. All staff professional & attentive. A special mention to the bar team & bar Head Chef. Rooms spotless & comfortable. Breakfast buffet style with a range of hot/cold choices. Breakfast area a little clinical & would prefer a freshly cooked breakfast. Good value hotel located near the buzzing Glasgow centre. We will definitely be returning, thank you.
A true diamond in the rough. My wife and I had the pleasure of booking in here recently. The staff and management went above and beyond to elevate our experience, complete with laundry service and a welcoming bar for liquid refreshment after a day of sightseeing. We will book here again without question. Brian & Ally Gill Forest Hills, New York U.S.A.
Came up and stayed the night for a TikTok event beds so comfortable rooms very nice hotel nice all together food and drink very good and staff friendly Glasgow town very nice we had a lovely stay but if you are not used too Glasgow you can't have a alcohol drink on the streets box hub just across road too
A brilliant addition to the West End of Glasgow . Offering great value , in a great location, especially if attending a show at any of the nearby Theatres or Performance Venues . I was there for work , but returned for a break , both were just first class and consistent in service and standard from the friendly but professional welcome at check in reception - that included a welcome complimentary drink in the hotel bar , to the high standard of spotless rooms and bathrooms. The standard of catering in the hotel was also first class , good choice on menu , which was well priced My only slight criticism was a lack of A/C in the rooms and/or a fan , also lack of fridge , both of which can be easily resolved . Spaces in the one lift also v limited . Apart from that I cant recommend this hotel more highly .
Staying at the hotel for the weekend and was served breakfast by Natasha. Her professionalism and hospitality was amazing you can see that she loves what she does and is a credit to the hotel and has made my stay even more enjoyable. I will definitely be coming back. ❤️
Staff exceptionally helpful and friendly. Rooms very comfortable and quiet. Leisure facilities currently being revamped so check with staff as to when they will reopen. The staff went out of their way to make alternative arrangements for leisure facilities at a nearby hotel. Much appreciated 😊.
We've just had a one-night stop over at the Glasgow Argyle Hotel, arranged at very short notice and unwittingly coincided with Pink appearing in concert that weekend. Given the demand for rooms across Glasgow we considered our rate very reasonable, with a lovely clean and quiet room in which we didn't hear a thing all night, with no disturbance from Pinks fans as they returned much later than we did. It's a short walk from the railway station, 10 to 15 minutes, so ideally placed for a nght out in the city. We would happily stay again if visiting the city
Booked through third party website, but had looked at multiple approaches, including Trip Advisor and Booking.com. Wanted a hotel with swimming pool. This hotel is located in a relatively unattractive, utilitarian part of Glasgow (albeit a bit of interesting architecture), but the hotel itself has an appealing entrance, which was marred by presence of skip in a very small parking area to side of entrance. Rotating door says it is automatic, but had to push it. Entrance hall, reception area and bar is marked by elegant ceiling light fittings, more modern-looking floor lamps and curiously basic tables - kind of mix of classic and neo-modern/industrial style. At reception another customer was clearly dealing with something on his side in attempt to check-in, and I was attended to in fits and starts. The other guest even said the receptionist should deal with me, but this was initially ignored. There was some issue with getting key ready, and I asked about the skip, to be told that it was due to refurbishment of leisure centre, which was shut until August. This was news to me, but receptionist said it was on hotel website and Booking.com. I was asked for payment, which was less than what I booked it for, which was bit confusing, but concluded that third party website retain rest of price. She warmly wished the other customers an enjoyable stay, and then did the same with a small degree of reservation in her delivery, which was unhelpful and left me with a funny feeling as I walked to the room. Ordered an executive room, which was large, with sofa, table and chairs, twin beds pushed together and another smaller bed. Bathroom was decent size and bath taps gave a fast fill, with very hot hot water. Window had pretty dire view of a carpark, and theoretically overlooks river, but visible behind buildings. It had an obscure opening, which might make sense if explained, but not intuitive and no instructions. There is no phone to reception, and a slightly curt note saying if extra milk, tea, etc is wanted, to go to reception and ask for it. There were no herbal teas, hot chocolate or biscuits with kettle. Also no glass in bathroom or room to have a glass of water. I felt like I was in a streamlined business vehicle to make money, and not somewhere in which customer experience was paramount. The bed, as is common elsewhere, just had a duvet, which is too warm for summer months, so stripped sheet off smaller bed. It is unclear why this is standard practice, rather than giving a sheet and duvet, which is how I remember hotels often used to be. The room was very quiet - not sure if this is because no nearby guests or because rooms are sound-insulated. I looked up info about swimming pool, and there are multiple websites for the hotel - the Best Western one does say it is shut, but Booking.com does not, nor other websites promoting or representing it. I don't see why the phone line shut at 6pm, since I rang to check pool and breakfast times, when there were staff on reception, and no-one responded to my message. Looking at restaurant menu felt uninspiring, and whilst I did not try any food, it didn't look like any passion was injected into it. I wonder who in hotel chain structure decides on the menu. Prices were not massively high, but not cheap either (eg. £18 for lasagne). The football was on, on a big TV in bar which was open to reception, which I felt lowered the tone, and was an odd touch for a higher end hotel. The location is a bit out of the way, but there are places to eat nearby - just not most lively or buzzing area, compared to half a mile towards the centre. I had things to get on with, so didn't explore. Was told by receptionist that breakfast on weekdays was between 6.30am and 9am, but card she gave me with 'key' said 7-9.30am. So I was unclear on what was correct, and without internal phone in room and the hotel's phone line being shut, had to go downstairs to ask for clarification. Breakfast in fact did start at 6.30am, and because so few guests, the cooked bit was taken by order, rather than laid out in buffet-style. Most of it was fine, but poached eggs were jammy to firm. Bread was standard sliced, but mixed fruit was of fairly high standard. Not everything was ready by 6.30am, which meant I overlooked having some orange juice. Toilets in both room and groundfloor reception were not necessarily simple flushes when I used them. Italian receptionist was really helpful with info about interesting places in Glasgow, and the breakfast staff were similarly on-point. I think the answer to this is to come back in August, when the leisure centre is finished, and hopefully they have got the automatic door working. Some things I presume are simply the corporate style for the chain, but certainly they should update the breakfast times on the info card, and I think sheets should be provided in wardrobe. I also think reception staff should strive to treat customers in a similar, professional way, rather than adding judgment into their manner. Customers are paying for an experience, and shouldn't be subtly scolded for asking questions or expressing disappointment, particularly when info about closure of key facilities is not always obvious when booking.
Booked this for the leisure club which has been closed due to refurbishment. Didn't realise until we got there management offered us a bottle of wine on the house for the misunderstanding which won us over before we got to the room. Decor is nice a quaint feels like a boutique hotel.
great,,boys loved swimming etc ,good breakfast,so nice, the sauna was great,a wanted to lay ther aw night,,great staff alace,i love it herer, ........cheapest in town but hte best,,,,,,,,,,immaculate....................................,
Tommy the staff manager thinks he owns the place very rude and arrogant he is rude to other staff members too, which i have witnessed. Another staff member Chelsea also has an attitude problem. The pool and changing rooms are stinking never kept clean but always signing rota to say they have been cleaned. I've complained several time so i decided to change my gym to a new and cleaner gym considering i pay £20 a month and £1 each time i use their towel
Booked well in advance for a birthday surprise for my mum, due to stay in 3 weeks time. I was called today to be told my reservation is cancelled as the hotel is now 'not open to the public' when pressed why no one could answer. Completely unacceptable and from what I am now reading on numerous posts they are in the habit of doing this! Now I am currently stressed trying to re book somewhere else and prices are approx £50 more which I do not have. Will never book again very disappointing. Shame on you.
my partner booked this as a 50th birthday present when we go and see Kasabian and Biffy Clyro (for my 50th) and it was cancelled a few days ago stating i asked for the cancellation, i called them and its because they are in a stage of refit and the hotel isnt ready yet, but after looking at other reviews they have had a habit of this over the last few months, so they take your money, hold it and within 4 weeks refund you, so i called them and the manager said she would help me, she was meant to call back yesterday and didnt, so stringing me along for another couple of days - truely horrible experience and would not recommend to anyone, my partner has tried to make my 50th brilliant, but this hotel has tried their best to ruin it, ive now booked elsewhere which has cost me £45 more and that was only because im part of the defence discount group, appreciate the early birthday gift and messing about with a veteran
Booking was made via a Wowcher offer before the pandemic. As they were closed then the booking was carried over by mutual agreement to August 2022. At the beginning of July I phoned to check that everything was okay with our booking and was assured it was and they looked forward to welcoming us. Just over a week later I received an email saying the booking was cancelled, no explanation, and that I would have to chase up the refund myself as it wasn't their responsibility. I can't believe such appalling customer service should be allowed and it seems, from other feedback, that this hotel has treated many others like this. AVOID.
Be careful with this one. I booked this back in February for friends getaway and yesterday I received a phone from someone who did not know what was going on and just said sorry we have to cancel your reservation. No reason at all. Now it has left me with price rises to book another hotel with the same amenities.
We booked this hotel back in Oct 2021 for a trip this August as we wanted to have everything organised and planned as soon as possible. With less than a month before our visit the hotel had cancelled our reservation with the statement "We are no longer opened to the public on these dates". I called to get a bit more info as to why they decided this, with customer services not even fully aware of the situation themselves. Since then the situation has spiralled with cancellation after cancellation as we try and desperately find other accomodation which wont cost us an arm and a leg. The average rate for a 3 night stay in the city over these dates has now surpassed £1000, and were most likely going to have to completely cancel our trip and try to cut our losses. Thank you Glasgow Argyle for completely dismantling our trip
Cancelled on us 3 weeks before we are due to arrive here. Left us with having to pay double the amount for a different hotel for the same date. Unacceptable and looks like they are doing the same to every one else! Left us out of pocket and very disappointed. Will not be staying or recommending this hotel!
I paid for a reservation on 4th February because I am going to see Coldplay in Glasgow on 24th August. I received a refund on 14th July but had no contact from the hotel. I called them and left my contact detail so they could check that I still had the reservation. They called me back 2 days later to tell me that the reservation was cancelled and the hotel was "closed to the public". I have tried booking a different hotel in Glasgow but all nice hotels seem to be fully booked. Shocking service it's just lucky that I had checked my bank and got in contact with them, I still haven't had an email to say the reservation is cancelled! Very disappointed!!!!
The Hotel is being used by the government to accommodate people. If you book using a hotel rooms provider you will turn up and be told no room at the Inn. You will get no notification and be left with nowhere to stay. Try and book by speaking to Best Western reservations and they will tell you they are not taking bookings but they will tell you they do not know why .
Booked a room back in February. Turned up to book-in just to be told by a very rude man at the desk that they were closed for "Public safety "but it was full of people who had been there for over one month. We were given no help and told to contact who we had booked through (Hotels.Com) and he then walked away. We were left to find somewhere else with no help from the hotel. We will not be staying with this Chain again and We will tell everybody about it and may even contact the papers. We were left out of pocket because we had to find an alternative hotel.
Out of the blue this hotel cancelled our bookings for three people, made back in early March, leaving us high and dry just three weeks before travelling, and once all our plans for this location had been carefully made. Now we are desperately trying to rearrange our trip which is involving a lot of wasted time and extra expense. I see from other reviews they do this frequently, sending the same standard message, claiming to have phoned. They have not even replied to any of our messages. A reasonable explanation was all that was required. Instead we have simply been ignored. To avoid disappointment, please think twice before using this establishment.
Having booked a long while in advance the hotel cancelled a few weeks before staying. No explanation offered, no real apology and no compensation. Disappointing first experience of Best Western and will go elsewhere next time. Strangely the hotel appears to still be taking books. Very strange.
I have just called this hotel to enquire about facilities re our stay in July to be advised that our booking is cancelled. We have paid over £400 already. We've had no contact and the person I spoke to couldn't give me a number for reservations, just kept repeating everything I need is online. It certainly isn't. All looks well online and the hotel is still being advertised in the usual places. We are meant to be attending a family wedding and this is now in jeopardy due to this abomination. I'm at a loss as how to contact this outfit to discuss. I see below another victim was cancelled on in April so it's not like there hasn't been time to contact all the booked guests. Absolute horror show.
Reservation had been canceled by the hotel a few days before I arrived, without any explication and any compensation. I booked for this hotel more than a month before, and it had been very complicated to find an other one with the little time I had. No help from the Glasgow Argyle Hotel staff neither from LGHHM reservation staff. They told they had contact me by phone whereas it was not the case. No telephone number was available for contact. A shame, unacceptable.
This hotel was the perfect location for attending an event on The Ferry. Staff were friendly, room was nice and breakfast was great. Plenty of parking across from the hotel which was good. Shame the beauty salon is no longer open but the facilities are lovely anyway.
Just back from a lovely day at the hotel, started with use of the pool, sauna and steam room followed by a few drinks in the bar then a delicious afternoon tea. Staff were amazing, Matthew, Gemma and Jordan were amazing and a credit to the hotel :-)
Booked into the Glasgow Argyle Boutique Hotel for my partners birthdays. As he has a busy and hectic live I wanted to ensure that he had plenty of space to relax and unwind and just have a couple of days to himself. I booked a loft suite to ensure that he had the space to do just that. We weren't disappointed with the space. Very large living area, with space to dine behind lounge. Bathroom was also very large and added bonus being a 4 piece as it was only advertised with a bath. The mezzanine area upstairs was also generous in size with a very large comfy bed and a second tv also. The pool was more than adequate for what we wanted with a jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. With plenty of choice for breakfast we didn't go hungry and again plenty of choice on the menu for lunch which was lovely. The hotel is in a slightly quieter part of the town, which suited us as we wanted to be away from all of the noise the nighttime brings, but still close enough to be in the thick of it should you want to be. Few negatives - Room wasn't cleaned fully, the shower was a bit grimy and the floor wasn't brushed properly as could feel the dirt on my feet when I removed my shoes. There was also a pasta pot in the cupboard, that should have been removed. The sofa and chairs although modern looking was not the most comfy, I kept slipping off and could not support my back due to style. No spare blanket either, which is normal in rooms. Carpet in hallway was really untidy looking and didn't look as if it had been hoovered at all in days. 4pm check in is pretty late, but not a deal breaker. Parking is across from hotel which is great, however the hotel says you can't book prior to arrival and the charge is £12 per night, yet I booked through an app days before arriving and paid £7 a night with a £0.99 booking fee, so £14.99 all in for the 2 nights, saving £9 with a guaranteed parking slot. All in the hotel was very good and would most definitely return again, however should the cleanliness not be up to standard for the cost paid, I will be saying something this time round.
Great break at this hotel. Rooms clean leisure centre superb. Good excellent . Every member of staff friendly. I know people have complained about the car park charges but hey it's a secure car park in a major city
Lovely hotel and the staff are very friendly. This will be my hotel of choice from now on. The rooms are very clean and the bed are very comfy. We slept well and the breakfast was great. Set us up for the day.
Stayed in Superior double (614) with city view. Room was massive but I would hardly advertise it as a city view. Only recommendations re: room are it could do with a bit more modernising and instructions in how to use air conditioning/heater would save having to ask staff member. Facilities - Fantastic enjoyed time in the pool and Jacuzzi. Location - Within walking distance to town centre, station (5-10mins) and about 17 mins walk to OVO Hydro Centre and SEC. A lot of work is being done all around Glasgow City Centre at the moment so I don't think there are any hotels that don't have any building work or structure going on around it but we did not hear any noise. Staff - 5* + every single member of staff we came across was so approachable, friendly, welcoming and smiling. My partner is Gluten Free and they accommodated her without it feeling like it was a problem or fuss. We already can't wait to come back. Thank you to all who work there for making our stay a great one.
My mother and I frequently meet up every few weeks in glasgow and stay over 2 nights we decided to try this hotel for the 1st time, and I can assure it will be the last! We arrived at 3.45pm with check in at 4pm we were told the room was not ready yet and to take a seat and the receptionist would give us a shout when it was ready, lots of people coming in and out and getting to their rooms straight away but we knew it had been busy the night before so we were patient and waited as we were asked. Got a couple drinks for the bar which is quite expensive may I add, and 3 hours went by and eventually I went back to the desk and asked if the room was ready yet to be told by a different receptionist yes, I asked how long it has been ready for as we have been sitting there for 3 hours because we were told to wait till we were shouted, clearly the room had been ready for quite some time and we had been forgotten about! We missed out dinner reservations and had no time to use the pool at this point and this had been the main reason we booked this hotel and paid a bit extra than we normally would. Got to our room it was a disable room and the issue was it was not twinned as requested so back to reception we went, got given another room, so a bit unsure why you would allocate a non disabled guest a disabled room if there were other rooms available but again the main issue was no twin bed set up and obviously twin rooms available. Got to the twin room and even though this is a non smoking hotel the smell of cigarettes was terrible, being a smoker myself I could even tell how bad this was it was as if someone had been in the room smoking just a few minutes prior to us going in! Again back to reception to be given yet another room, finally we get a twin room, still doesn't smell great but by this point we need to get food to which the hotel was not serving and we had been travelling all day. Jess from reception was fantastic and made it a little bit better for us she was very apologetic and could clearly see she was embarrassed and knew this was terrible service she waived our parking fee. The other girl on reception who left us for hours was quite frankly rude and I was disguted by her attitude, when I mentioned if we knew to come back up to check in I would have but was told to wait and we would be shouted she said well I didnt say that, as you can imagine our fury as she was the one that said to take a seat and she would get us, she was now trying to say we were lying! Upon check out same girl on and we popped the key in and she said nothing, obviously knew how our stay was but no im sorry about your stay, no have a nice day, nothing! Being in hospitality myself i find this awful customer service and would be affronted if any of my team acted in this way towards guests. We then got stuck in the car park as the code we had been sent from booking.com was wrong, I walked back over to the hotel and the same girl with attitude again said I told you the code was 1989, we were never told a code her when she took our car details and she replied "so do you want to talk to a manager then" honestly I was so appalled not at the question but the attitude she said this with. I hope something gets done about this to save any other guests having the horrific experience we had. The only highlight was Jess and how great she handled things and genuinely tried to help fix things and made sure we knew if there were any problems to let her know straight away her customer service was second to none!
I stayed at this hotel whilst attending a conference. The staff were fantastic Especially Jordan nothing was too much trouble. Anything we needed he was there to help I would highly recommend this hotel for your stay in Glasgow. I will definitely be staying here again.
It was an okay stay. Stayed for one night but wouldn't go back if I'm totally honest. We arrived and I was very impressed with the reception/lounge area. Rooms are very old, a lot of scratches on the furniture. A window but no way of opening it. Found the room very stuffy We were at an event earlier that evening, very bad service at the bar after we arrived back. Not a great choice of drink. We wanted to order room service which we were told was 24 hours. We rang down about 11pm and were told they only had soup and sandwiches but the menu that was supplied had a variety of food. I asked for two toasted sandwiches the staff member replied, we can't toast them.. I said we got two sandwiches earlier on toasted. They told me they don't have a toaster at night? I didn't mind but was a bit annoying! £19 for two sandwiches.. bit expensive! Overall the hotel is great for location wise but wouldn't be back.
Great location. Good facilities. We stayed two nights with family with two granddaughters aged 4 and 7. We never had any problems although our girl's are well behaved. The leisure facilities were great and made even better by a lady called Paulina. She greeted us with a smile and was always on hand to help where needed. She then greeted us on our second day at breakfast making sure the six if us could be seated together. I would return to the hotel just to get that service which was second to none. Do please give her the recognition she dose deserve,s. The breakfast was adequate and nice and hot. We would definitely return when in Glasgow.
What a lovely hotel! We stayed for 5 nights- staff were very friendly and accommodating. Great leisure facilities- my partner was really impressed with the gym. The mattresses on the beds were great quality- had such a good sleep! Lift was a little shaky and rooms a bit dated but had everything we needed and the shower was great so can't complain! Hotel is within easy walking distance to the city centre which was ideal. Overall we had a great stay and would highly recommend this hotel, we will definitely be coming back!
Hotel and staff were excellent. Good facilities and within easy walking distance of the city centre. Great indoor pool with spa, gym, sauna and steam room. Great choice of food at breakfast in a bright, airy restaurant
Rooms need updated but think hotel in process of doing this. Leisure facilities great. Hotel very clean. Staff helpful. Menu limited for meals but nice food. Breakfast had great variety and served hot.
I Would like to thank everyone for my AMAZING stay last night .dean .Ashley. I STAYED HERE with my girlfriend EVERYTHING about this hotel wasAMAZING FROM THE MIN I ARRIVED WHERE I MET WITH JESS.DEAN.NATALIE.AND ASHLEY they are all a credit to this hotel if it wasn't for them we would not have found our way around the food also was amazing. FACILITIES also thank you to Emma and the young lady on the spa .this hotel is massively value for money the room was massive and a great location to get to the bars and restaurants. I really can't wait to return to this hotel it was a birthday occasion and certainly made our stay .thanks guys .
Booked 2 nights here as a Valentines treat for my partner as we were attending a concert at the armadillo. Good location for the concert about a 15 minute walk and about 10 minute walk to Grand Central Station, albeit there is secure parking for a fee. Had requested an early check in (usually 4pm) but this had been missed however the receptionist spoke to housekeeping and our room was ready after a short wait, we were offered a drink whilst we waited and the receptionist apologised profusely for the error. Overjoyed with our room (419), it was huge. Everything you need provided, TV, kettle, hairdryer, iron and ironing board. A huge, comfortable bed. Good shower, shampoo & shower gel provided. Will definitely stay here again. Didn't use the gym but it looked fine with upto date equipment, we did use the pool, steam room etc which was brilliant (towels provided). Thank you for a lovely stay.
I really would like to take time to let you know about the stay I booked for my brothers bday last night I always believe give credit where credit due and always nice to have positive feed back. First of all massive thank you to Sean.ashley and natalie for making his stay so special. Amazing stay.. Staff were lovely and food was amazing as we're rooms.. We would also like to thank jess on reception for our lovely welcome and all her help.. She was amazing.. We will definitely be back x
The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had an issue with our room at check in and the receptionist Ashley sorted it out she even gave us a voucher for a free drink at the bar as an apology, she was lovely and nothing felt like it was too much of an effort. great breakfast too! Natalie and the man with the beard at the bar was also lovely we didn't catch his name but he was super nice and recommend stuff on the menu for us - burgers were 10/10 The downstairs space is brilliant for hanging out in any time of the day. For the price it was this is a great hotel.
Just stayed here tonight, and have to say Natalie behind the bar, despite being pulled in all directions work wise was the most attentive and personable bar manager I have ever had the pleasure to deal with. She alone is worth the stay. By the way the hotel is also excellent and will stay here again at every opportunity. Room is spacious warm and modern, car parking is ultra secure, effectively a compound which is reassuring. Food is great and the Makhani curry is perfect Overall, and particularly due to Natalie's great hospitality this is a hidden gem and I could Not recommend more
Great location and great amenities. Reception staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was ample and very nice. The only thing that was a disappointment was the lack of ventilation in the rooms and the musty smell of the bathroom permeating the room overall.
Amazing place to stay! Clean and spacious rooms, great leisure facilities in immaculate condition. The staff were really helpful and went over and above. The reception staff were lovely, Alessandro, Pam and Jess have the right personalities for the hotel! Jess even convinced to stay an extra night! Well worth it! We didn't eat at the hotel but met other guests that were raving about how good the food is. Overall, great value for money! We will be back to stay again.
We are a party of 3 ladies from South Yorkshire that needed a break! I have only given it 3 stars as we had some issues but the staff were amazing and dealt with these issues as good as they could, we were also compensated so this would not put us off from staying here again! The breakfast was spot on! All the staff were polite and friendly ( except one) and bent over backwards to help you eg: recommending where to eat/ sight see . Jess on reception was lovely and brought us, wine glasses/champagne flutes and ice bucket up to our room practically before we even got there, also heaters as they had problems with the air con. Other reviews said the rooms were dated, we didn't think so, they were clean and big and had new carpets, what more do you want? They were short staffed due to the covid restrictions but the staff that were there split their selves in two and worked so hard. So Again I'd like to thank them all for this and hopefully see them again some time. Cath, Dot & Anita x
Arrived at hotel an hour earlier than check in time to be told our room was ready. Asked for an upgrade from a room to an apartment. The receptionist Jess could not have more helpful and friendly, so much so that we decided to extend our stay. When at the restaurant/bar we had a great bar person in Jamie Lee. What a great time and great atmosphere due to the fab staff. Apartments are ace but cold even with heating on. Great city centre location.
My 14 year daughter booked us a hotel break at Glasgow argyle signature hotel as a Christmas gift. When we arrived we immediately went to use their leisure facilities only to be told she wasn't allowed to use these as she was too young. I explained that I we had no idea she wouldn't be able to use facilities otherwise we would have booked elsewhere, their reply was "Well it is stated on the walls of the pool" unfortunately I wasn't at the poolside when booking the hotel! We left and went back to the room disappointed only to find that the place was freezing cold, no radiators and the room was dirty ( crumbs all over the seats, remote control was filthy, toliet was dirty) pictures are to large to be uploaded. Clearly hadnt been cleaned, which during covid times is very concerning. Contacted reception to explain my concerns regarding room only to be told "well you don't need to stay here" I was absolutely gobsmaked at level of customer service. Eventually they moved us to another room. And to be fair it was a far superior room only to find feaces on the wall. I complained again and someone came to clean it promptly. I felt sorry for my daughter who had made such a great effort for us to enjoy time away from normality and the reception weren't willing to fix situation at first. Overall it's a nice hotel ( reception area) and most of the staff are lovely but they are seriously lacking in the customer service and hygiene department. Would not recommend.
We had a few hiccups, as told couldn't check in till 4 , so sat and had a drink, 5 minutes later 4 people came and managed to get checked in . Drinks a bit overpriced £6.90 fur a gin & tonic !! If made cheaper we would have stayed in hotel but went into city centre instead . Room ok, pics & mirrors needed a good clean. When we returned from city struggled to get serviced at table, so hubbie approached bar and was told by bartender to sit down , wine that was included in deal was slammed on table with 2 glasses. We would have liked room service but no menu in room and tried to call and no answer anyway. Breakfast was a good selection, although eggs , bacon & links were all like leather, this was at 8am approx. We were made welcome at leisure facilities and really enjoyed pool , sauna etc. We would love to come back in the future, hopefully things improve
This hotel was beautiful and a great location. No only that but the receptionist Jess was amazing! Nothing was too much and she went over and above. Would highly recommend and Jess was a credit to the hotel 5 stars! Jess personally escorted us to our room, then as we enjoyed a drink in the inviting bar area she then returned to our room to drop off glasses and an ice bucket.
Bought a groupon for this 1 night stay......check in went well reception staff cheerful & helpful with directions..... got a call in room 15mins after getting in to make sure we were happy (nice touch).... large room with new carpet & decor was slightly let down with old furnishing..... but worst thing was no biscuit for yer cup o tea! other than that room was fine.... On return from concert went to bar for a drink, barman wasnt the friendliest bar was empty so we decided to take our drinks to the room. Great self service breakfast in the morning all staff very friendly. Made use of the well equipt gymn & pool before leaving.
I always like to start with positives. The breakfast was brilliant and staff on reception were much more attentive in the morning. My wife planned this as a getaway for us and from checking in it was made abundantly clear this was a hotel for checking in, getting dressed and coming back at silly o clock. We made the mistake of going to your bar for a drink around 6pm. I felt so sorry for the member of staff working, I dont know her name but she was amazing, dealing with all aspects of food and beverage whilst being made to bring higher levels of staff coffee and tea. Surely paying customers have priority? I ordered a chocolate brownie which had to be sent back twice and I was told by a man on reception all desserts are made in house, for £6.95 I would like to think so but I think we know the truth in this matter. I would also like to thank your establishment for having no clue how to deal with a fire evacuation. We were told to get outside, no further information given. The most stressing matter is upon getting back in, no information was provided, no apology was offered.
Could not believe the treatment and poor customer service of staff members, we arrived at the hotel around 4.30pm ( 30 minutes after check in time) to be met with a receptionist stating “your rooms not ready so I'll write some complimentary drinks out for you” she handed us these pieces of card and we asked how long our room would be we were met with a dismissive shrug of the shoulders, we even offered to downgrade our room as we were in a bit of a hurry to attend a night out this apparently was not possible. We attended the bar area and asked for our drinks my partner asked if he could have a cracken rum and coke. The barman couldn't be less interested in us and stated the vouchers were for house drinks only. We ordered our drinks and I heard him ask the receptionist “what are they getting these for”. Eventually our room was ready 15 minutes afterwards although if we didn't kick up a fuss about it who knows how long we could have been waiting for before going up to our room a receptionist asked for payment for the room. We had booked this through a my hotel break voucher the receptionist was informed of this and gave us our room keys. We were situated in a master bedroom on the 7th floor the room was huge but totally dated the toilets stunk of sewerage the room could do with a good freshen up never the less the bed was comfortable but for almost £200 a night i would have liked to think so. The morning after we attended breakfast it was okay, we had a bit of a thirst and asked for two soft drinks we had originally asked for coke but we were then told they only have Diet Coke and Diet Pepsi I fail to see how a hotel only serves diet soft drinks and no full fat ones. The icing on top of the cake was during check out we were met again with a receptionist who when checking us out couldn't grab the card machine fast enough to inform us that we hadn't payed (even though the other receptionist who asked the night before was standing right beside her and saying nothing) my partner had informed this was a voucher and gift and was already paid to which the receptionist said “well where's your proof” my partner kindly opened his emails to show the receptionist an email from the hotel with a bill and the vouchers used. The receptionist then blatantly said “well I don't see that as proof of payment so I'm going to have to take payment” totally embrassing us in front of the que of people now forming who were waiting to check out. My partner quiet bluntly stated we were not paying as it had already been paid for we were then threatened and met with well “I'll have to speak to my manager because you haven't paid for the room” Surprise surprise no manager on shift so we then left the property only for my partner to receive a phone call as we were pulling out of the car park stating “I've just seen the confirmation email and it says to pay at hotel” my partner then informed the receptionist that if she looked further down the email it then takes the voucher money off and INFACT the hotel owed us £9.00! The receptionist then informed my partner “well my hotel break hasn't paid us” my partner then becoming increasingly annoyed with the sheer rudeness that was being displayed towards us stated “this is not our problem” the receptionist then ended the phonecall advising us she would contact my hotel break and see what the problem was since Sunday we've had no further phone calls pestering us for money so I'm assuming all was well however it would've been nice to be contacted by the receptionist and an apology be made. All in all I'm glad this was a hotel gift as I would have been so much more annoyed if I had paid almost £200 for the hotel room and experience as it was nothing more than a total disgrace. BWH should be looking into this as the customer service is appalling!! Im now in touch with my hotel break about this as I feel our voucher experience was ruined with this hotel hopefully the take them off the voucher to stop some other poor person having to go through this again. Will not be back.
Had a 2 night stay here recently, first of all a special thank you to Jordan and Natalie who were working in the bar. They two were such pleasant staff and made us feel so welcome. Nice welcome at the reception and our family room was huge and the beds were comfortable. Only little gripe we had was our air conditioning wasn't working and the window was a sealed unit so couldn't open it. The room got quite warm which could be hotter in the summer. We used the spa facilities and the girl who was working there Sunday morning 12/12/21 again was really pleasant and helpful. Stayed here a few years ago and will definitely be back again.
We stayed at the hotel had 3 rooms booked we all had a great stay rooms very spacious, rooms a bit dated but we're clean and beds comfortable. We had a great time in the pool and sauna. All the staff that we spoke to were lovely. We had dinner and a few drinks bar staff lovely nothing was a bother and the food was beautiful. Good breakfast in the morning again the lady working in the restaurant at breakfast was lovely. Kids really enjoyed this hotel. Only 1 complaint I have is checkout is 11 o'clock but we had someone bang on the door at 9.30 for housekeeping and then again at 10.30 but apart from that everything else was great.
Jess on the front desk couldn't of been more helpful. After a mix up with our business booking and them being closed she genuinely went completely above and beyond resolving our issue . Couldn't of been more grateful. The level of service you professionalism you showed towards our whole team was exceptional. I couldn't thank you enough! You made a troublesome stay ever the much easier
Stayed here on Friday, as was attending Madness gig at the nearby Hydro. This hotel has been taken over by Best Western, who have undertaken a 1 million pound refurbishment, and what a job they have made, it is outstanding. We had 3 rooms for 3 couples, booked on a Wowcher deal, which included a bottle of wine on arrival, bed and breakfast, free access to the leisure club/spa and a late checkout at 1300hrs. The rooms were spacious, clean and well appointed. The bathroom was absolutely stunning. The staff were helpful and attentive. Food was very good and the spa was terrific, having a large pool, sauna, steam room and hot tub jacuzzi and a gym, all of which was clean and well maintained. The hotel's proximity to the SEC/Hydro campus, as well as the Finnieston 'strip' yet only a very short walk to the city centre. Great hotel in a great position, and fantastic value for money, we will definitely be back.
This is the 2nd attempt to stay at this hotel. The first time we booked via Wowcher and went with another couple to celebrate my anniversary but when we got there the hotel was closed and under refurbishment. This was NOT the fault of the hotel and the manager could not have been nicer. Said to rebook when open and he would honour our wowcher deal. I then rebooked for Friday 2nd December and was really pleasantly surprised at the completed finish in reception....it was lovely. Reception staff were super nice especially the girl who dealt with us....she was new but super efficient and pleasant and a real credit to the hotel. The deal we had was with wine so we got 2 tickets to collect them at bar, one for each room/party. Bedrooms were clean and basic. Comfortable bed and excellent shower. Furniture a bit tired but still perfectly fine.....room was warm. We went to the bar to collect first bottle of house wine and were really disappointed that there was no rose wine. The girl behind the bar had no idea about the wine she had so we ended up with a bottle that wasn't that great. My husband wanted a blended scotch and was told there wasn't any so he had a southern comfort. When he came back to the table with it I told him there was Red Label at other end of bar!! Next my husband went up to get the 2nd bottle of wine for our table and was shocked at the person called Gemma who served him. She said we already had a bottle and pretty much accused us of trying to defraud them! She was exceptionally rude and attitude didn't change much when he explained we had 2 rooms and had handed in one ticket!!!! She should get customer service training from the girl at reception and understand what deals reception are doing. If a ticket is handed in for each bottle received then where did she think we got the 2nd ticket? Selection of drinks at bar was really poor and food choice limited so I wouldn't plan on having a night in it with friends. Don't rely on taxis coming within 5 mins using the yellow box at reception if there's an event on in Glasgow unless your not in a hurry. A nice touch though. Breakfast was lovely and again place was really clean. Didn't try the facilities and would if I went back but tbh customer service is a top must for me and being accused of stealing a bottle of wine is not acceptable and there's plenty of other hotels to choose from. Was definitely value for money though and did get a great night's sleep so would recommend, if avoiding the bar, which is really the only thing that let's it down
I booked this on a deal for a wee overnighter for my dad. You get use of the spa/pool facilities which was a draw for us. Breakfast was included and a bottle of house wine (you get a voucher when you check in). The reception area is lovely, clearly has been done up and lovely first impression. The pool is quite small and some of it was closed off when we where in for swimming lessons. They provide you with towels if needed, you can take your own. There are lockers for use, you just need a pound coin which you get back. The Jacuzzi is really nice and my dad really liked the steam room and sauna, there is also a shower between them so you can rinse of inbetween. We went down later to get the wine but it was all closed down at 22:38 (the check in sheet advises it would be open til I am sure midnight). Not a big deal but I couldn't see anywhere to get juice, there had been a vending machine in the spa reception but it was closed. The rooms need a bit of tlc but they are mostly spotless. The tv channels are very basic (channel 3, cbeebies and I think 3 others). It is a Samsung tv though so you can get radio stations and it has a usb port so if spending any kind of time in the room you may want you laptop or some other kind of entertainment system. The rooms are non smoking but you can sit out on the benches just at the entrance. I couldn't see any ashtrays so my dad just extinguished his butts and took them with him. The bath is fabulous, roasting water and great flow, they also provide a bathmat to prevent slipping and the body/hand wash/shampoo provided they are really nice. Could not work out the heating despite following the diagram. There was a phone in the room which I liked, not all hotels seem to have that these days. There was also one out on the corridor floor which I think is a good idea. Hand sanitizer at the lifts too. Breakfast was included in our deal but we didn't make it down. We also had a late check out, 1pm, check in was 4pm. So for £69 really close to center of town, a bottle of wine, breakfast and spa & gym access it is good value. Also just to highlight the member of staff Jess that was on reception when we called to ensure our booking. She could not be more helpful or polite, a credit to your hotel and made me look forward to our visit. I wish all the staff could be as professional, friendly and kind.
My hubby and I stayed wt The Argyle last night. We got a fantastic deal on booking.com (£45 room only). Staff were warm and welcoming. Public areas were light, modern & airy. Our room was large and clean. The bed and pillows were comfy. The furniture and art work sadly dated the room but you could see signs of attempted modernisation - nice carpet, freshly painted walls and modern lighting. Overall good value for money based on our deal.
When we arrived first impressions where good, we thought this looked nice and could see a swimming pool from outside. We had arrived early for check in but fully understood we would check in and then go see the city. We got to reception and before I could even open my mouth to let words come out this Irish/American man told us we are too early and would need to either leave our bags or sit in a bar area. This wasn't a problem as I only wanted to leave my bags. At this point I said I'd like to leave my bags to which the man said fine and then said in here pointing to the floor of an office or room they use. I came back around to the counter where a lovely woman was standing and started to talk to her to be then suddenly cut off from this guy again who said to her let me show you something and then whisked off into the luggage storage room again. Leaving me and my wife with further questions. Once we came back to check in all went smooth with the woman we got to our room to discover it was two single beds I used the really old fashioned phone to call down and got the gentleman who I spoke to when first arriving. He asked if we could push these together to which I declined and we then we got moved room not before hearing the Irish man say suprise surprise and then laughing. We put this aside and went to the pool which was great however being in town to scout places for our AGM conference this was high on our list due to these facilities however we don't think it would be right for our share holders and clients with the customer service shown and have since booked with the marriot across the way. Also car parking was an issue it's not clear where to park and be careful when you do as you will get barked orders at as soon as you enter to put your registration into a computer. Breakfast was good and service from the staff was good. I'd note that the lift is in need of some tlc.
I booked this hotel because of it's location and because it looked good on the website. Unfortunately, it didn't live up. When we got to our room, we were over-powered by the air freshener that had been used by room services - it took my wife over an hour to stop gagging and I had such a headache. After about an hour after arriving, the party in the next room started up. At times, this felt like it was in the same room as us. We persevered with this for about an hour before asking reception to intervene. I have to add, we were in a family room with our two kids. After waiting a further hour, I went to reception and asked the duty manager to come to our room to see if he felt that this was acceptable. To be fair, he stopped the noise quite abruptly (at least for and hour or so) and he said he would move us to a room that was not so over-powering with air freshener. Half an hour later he returned to advise that he couldn't swap rooms for us until tomorrow, but that he would make sure that we were not charged for our room and that he would get us moved in the morning. In the morning, I had to deal with a different manager, who was unaware of the events of the night before or that we were promised a room swap. So I had to go through it all with him. We were eventually moved to another room, which had the same smell of air freshener, though not nearly as powerful. I suspect that air freshener is due to it being a pet-friendly hotel. The 2nd manger also revealed that the party in the room next to us was actually a group of hotel staff who were staying in the hotel that night and in his word "should have known better". When it came to checking out after 3 nights, I asked the 3rd manager I spoke to if I could have a copy of the bill and confirmation that I would not be charged for the first night. Again, he did not know anything about the experience we had on our first night and advised that he couldn't give me a copy of the invoice as I had booked through a 3rd party (Hotels.com). I have now waited 4 weeks with no correspondence from either the hotel or from Hotels.com, and I've had now refund for my first night. Neither seem inclined to help. Lesson learned, pretty pictures on a website do not confirm the quality of stay and booking with Hotels.com seems to waive your right to compensation should things go wrong. My advice - there are loads more hotels available in Glasgow
I stayed at the signature best western in Glasgow for an overnight stay. My booking included a bottle of fizz on arrival. Staff were very attentive and friendly and chatty which I love! Myself and my sister ate at the bar and the food was great. Breakfast offered a lot of choice and there was plenty of everything available. The reception area looks very smart, and rooms were clean and tidy. A little dated, however it was in very good condition and spotless. The pool facilities were available but I didn't use it on this occasion. I have used it in the past though and it's brilliant.
Brilliant stay for 2 nights, Can't fault the place it is very clean and well staffed, Facilities were very good too cracking steam room and jacuzzi. Central for everything and a good price too. A short walk to town, Short walk to the SEC Armadillo where we took in a show. The staff are very good and a special thanks to izzy who cannot do enough for you and Ben at reception desk. We will definitely book this again and again.
This hotel has a great location to access city centre and surrounding areas. The rooms are huge with all you need to make your stay comfortable. The hotel is spotless, during my stay I seen staff cleaning throughout. the pool/jacuzzi area is fantastic, lovely fluffy towels to use when utilising the facilities. The staff are excellent, helpful and friendly. In particular, Ben, he was very helpful and made time for my wee granddaughter who loved the attention, as a consequence she had decided to have her birthday celebrations there lol Ben has promised her “a fabulous, special time” you better live up to your promise Ben! Finally, thanks Ben for the beverages to help celebrate my birthday time there. My whole family loved it and will definitely go back.
We received an outstanding level of service from the minute we entered this hotel. Upon arrival we where met by Ben who could not have been any more welcoming, Ben and all other staff are a huge credit to this hotel and really made our stay very enjoyable. Rooms, facilities and food all perfect, We will definitely be returning!
We have stayed in this hotel many times before, when it was The Hallmark Hotel, and even before that when it was the Menzies Hotel. Decided to give it another try since it has now been taken over by Best Western and has changed its name to the Glasgow Argyle Hotel. It's a very strange choice of name for the marketing team to choose, as there is another hotel in Glasgow called the Argyll Hotel. Not very original and a bit confusing. Anyway, I stayed here with my husband on the night of Wednesday 17th November. First the good, and then the bad. Good * The hotel still has a really nice wee Leisure Club with good facilities. Swimming pool, Spa bath; Sauna, Steam Room and changing rooms are all good. The staff in the leisure facility were friendly and efficient. * Our room was spacious - it was an upgraded executive room. * The price we paid, to include a bottle of wine, was very reasonable (£71 for B&B). * The new soft furnishings throughout the hotel were noticeable and definitely upgraded the hotel from how it looked previously (furniture, curtains, carpets, etc). Bad * The Receptionist was not welcoming, friendly or particularly chatty. (A male with a slight American accent, I think). * I found a pair of incredibly stinky (in fact, crispy) socks from a previous guest in our bathroom. When I complained at Reception, the £10 upgrade charge we had paid for the better room, was refunded to us by way of apology. * The room we were given (room 504) had no ventilation or fresh air at all. The 3 windows did not open at all (totally sealed) and the air conditioning system did not work. I like to sleep in a well ventilated room, so this was really bad for me. * The Leisure Club did not provide any poly bags for wet swimsuits. * Our bathroom was shabby and needed refurbished. Wood all marked and stained below the sink; discoloured sealant around the bath; enamel chip in the bath showing black; horrid shower curtain that sticks to your body). * When I pulled back the duvet to get into bed, the bottom sheet had a sticker on it. I think this was probably put on it by the laundry, but surely the housekeeper who made up the bed, should have removed this? * Breakfast was adequate, but not great. Scrambled eggs, haggis, tomatoes all completely dried out from lying on the buffet too long. * Finally, we were charged £12 to park our car in the "private, secure" car park across the road, but the gates were lying open for the whole period of our stay, so it is not very private or secure. So, overall, pretty poor. This hotel has the potential to be really special, but it is falling well short. If you want to stay in this area of Glasgow, I'd recommend the Marriott across the road.
This was a big disappointment. My hotel room was really dirty with old furniture and hotel management was unable to solve it. They claimed that cleaning service isn't available in the rooms due to COVID restrictions. I would really don't recommend to stay there.
Staff friendly, breakfast basic and adequate Disappointed the bar shuts earlier that advertised… 10pm and they're done & gone !! Taxi service from hotel very poor they never turned up ! We walked which isn't easy from this venue !
My wife and I stayed here for an overnight on the 14th November 2020. We had been looking at a last minute place to stay and saw that this hotel was offering a deal for bed and breakfast for just £55. We have stayed at this hotel in the past under it's previous names- Milton, Hallmark and Menzies. The hotel has always been a good experience for us and we love the atmosphere of the place and the swimming pool and breakfast was always brilliant. This time was a very different experience for us. We arrived at 2.30pm on a Saturday afternoon and the place was absolutely deserted. The car park had 1 other car in it and there was no-one at the reception. A very helpful maintenance man greeted us and gave us our room keys etc. We were on the 6th floor- room 612 which was spacious and clean. We didn't see another soul on our way to the room and the swimming pool and dining area was all closed. The hotel is in a great location just a 5/10 minute walk to the city centre. The breakfast was just a bag left outside our room in the morning with porridge, a croissant and some orange juice. We really enjoyed our stay considering the situation and for £55 can't complain about some of the facilities being closed.
I visited whilst attending a weekend course in Glasgow and found the hotel to be very comfortable. I arrived late but had a warm welcome from the reception staff (Miguel) who was very helpful and friendly. My room was well equipped, of a decent size, had a comfortable bed and powerful shower. Being a gym buff I was pleasantly surprised to find that the gym was actually well equipped, with; a bench, dumbbells up to 32, cables, leg press/extension, multi press, lat pull down and a good collection of cardio equipment (if you're so inclined). Another member of staff, Paul, was also very helpful and friendly. Overall: nice room, decent gym, happily recommend.
The hotel was was quite centrally placed but rather jaded. We were pleased there was a car park. We parked the car and notified the hotel. About two weeks after our holiday my husband received an invoice from our car hire company charging us £54 for parking on the hotel car park! He has written and complained but has had no response! Very expensive parking when it was supposed to be free!
Was met by someone outside who said the Hotel was closed due to Government restrictions, went inside to find out this wasn't true but would be closing the next morning. Advised no food available but was still charged for car parking which could have been avoided due to lack of food situation. There was a smell of smoke in the room on arrival so had to leave the window open to clear it. Room was a good size nice to have chairs and a table to sit at. Bed large and comfortable had a good nights sleep. Could have been better cleaned as there was some long hairs in the bath and a bottle top on the chair.
Let's start with the positives, the hotel is in a great location and Uber makes it very easy to get around. The hotel was nice and clean and the leisure facilities looked fab but we didn't get a chance to use them. However our room was very disappointing, it was clearly outdated and could do with a freshen up as there was a slight smell, there was no chair for the dressing table - or a mirror on it either so I ended up taking a mirror from above a tall set of draws to be able to use it, the room was also incredibly dark - but the bathroom had a bath and surrounding mirrors which was nice. We then booked on for breakfast which was around £10 per head, a fair price but when we went down for it someone had used our room number so this caused an issue, we then got some fruit and drinks which were fine, then went for pastries which were stale and the bread for toast had a slight bit of mould in - we quietly mentioned this to a member of breakfast staff who couldn't have cared less and then we left unhappy with it all. We informed the reception as we left who told us she would take this further but weren't offered anything of goodwill. Based on this visit I would not stay again as it was overall disappointing.
Guys what can I say about this hotel?? Well I have had the best experience with these guys, I work away and stay in hotels for a long period of time. Every member of staff was so helpful and couldn't do enough for myself and my team. Barry the general manager was unbelievably helpful, professional and is such a funny person when you speak to him. I will 100% be staying here when I come back to visit. All of your team are a credit to this company especially John, honestly his customer service was outstanding, he was always smiling and joking and made us feel at home. Rooms are dated but honestly I didn't care at all, I had the best nights sleep out of any hotel I have stayed in, in the past year. Gym is a decent size, pool is lovely just overall a good hotel to stay in with fantastic staff
We booked into the hotel at very short notice as our boiler had broken and it was near work. The hotel exceeded expectations. The room was lovely, staff at breakfast each morning were so friendly and welcoming and although there was not a huge selection, everything was cooked freshly and plentiful. The only recommendation I would have, is that the little faults in the ladies changing room shoukd be fixed, it is old fashioned but the issue is the faults, it let's down a great leisure area.
Myself and my husband stayed at the Hotel last weekend having had our city break to Prague cancelled due to Coronavirus. We have stayed here many times before and thoroughly enjoyed it and again we were not disappointed. Room was spacious, bed was comfortable and pool, sauna and steam room were very much appreciated for relaxation. We had dinner on our second night which was very enjoyable and breakfasts on both mornings were really good. Will see you again soon Hallmark !
