Not happy they make you pay a deposit not happy at all. And change the price of the room when you book on line. Bad business handling !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Room was very clean and the shower was a tub shower that needed hand hold bars. Bath was large and well lighted. Very nice indoor pool and hot tub in the center of the building. Breakfast was in the attached restaurant. Parking was just outside of the building. WE had inside entry to our room
nice motel with indoor corridors. Room strangely only had one chair. There were 2 queen beds, desk, desk chair, microwave and fridge with a separate door for the freezer, a nice touch. They accommodated our request for a ground floor near an entry door because we were traveling with a reactive dog. Grass nearby for walking but sort of on a hill overlooking a busy road. The motel is about 12 minutes straight shot to the riverfront where there is a nice walking/biking paved trail. WiFi is adequate, not blazing fast by any means.
This hotel has seen better days. Room was dank, humid, and musty. Have stayed before in the last few years but no more. Pool in the middle of the hotel is the root of the problem. Not in a separate glass encased room. Bugs in the room, also...not bed bugs, though. Floors not clean. Weeds all in the landscaping. Not up to usual Best Western standards.
Rundown and filthy. There was an overpowering smell of disinfectant. Stained furniture, slimy floors, and someone else's hair in the bathroom. Hallways were stiflingly hot and two of three of the ice machines were missing. Breakfast wasn't bad and the location was convenient to the highway
Mike, the owner, is a quality person, super friendly and reasonable. Our room was clean and comfortable. Great grassy areas nearby for walking dogs. They have tons of awards for best hotel in the state. Don't mind the far rare stupid stupid low review
We typically stay at BW Plus hotels and have no complaints. We choose them because we like them. This one was terrible! Hallways were very dirty and smelly. We killed at least a dozen cockroaches in the bathroom! If my room had them, you know others did too! I will say that the bed was comfortable and lots of choices at the breakfast buffet. Also the breakfast hostess was friendly. Other than that, I do not have anything good to say about this hotel. I would never choose or recommend the SteepleGate BW Plus.
While the 2 people I encountered at the front desk were so nice, I would never stay here again! It was so old, so gross, the smell in the hallways was horrible, air conditioning not working through the hallways, furniture in room outdated, our floor was so sticky we were sticking to it, we did not even want to lay in our bed, the list is endless!
Hallways very noisy on weekend nights teenagers running up and down hallways shouting back and forth. Asked for shampoo and body wash in our room 3 times finally went and bought some at the store.
This hotel was not just filthy but also in disrepair. It smelled terribly. Completely run down. They were nice and checked us in early but the issue is the hotel itself.
Driving from CA to PA over 10 days, we stayed exclusively at Best Western Hotels and had great experiences at all but this one. The bedroom floor had food crumbs around the beds, one of the two beds was hard and uncomfortable, the breakfast was subpar, non-functional waffle makers, and waffle batter dispensers, no hot chocolate, poor selection of food, poor quality ingredients (almost all the Best Western's offer what they can afford when breakfast is included, but this one seemed exceptionally cheap and limited), no air conditioning in the hotel hallways, loud slamming of doors - just a bad experience overall. The staff was very friendly, and accommodating, but our overall experience deterred us from staying one more night in another Best Western Hotel.
Our room had a big, dirty handprint on the wall above the shower. The room didn't feel clean. The pool area was extremely hot. Breakfast was good, nice big area to sit. My son forgot something in the room after we checked out and didn't realize it until we got home. The person on the phone was rude and answered very quickly when I asked about it. I asked her to go look and see if they were in the lost and found and she wouldn't do that, I'm assuming they didn't get turned in by housekeeping or the truth isn't being told him but it's extremely frustrating. They were left on the bed, so it would have been found. The bed was fine, the pillows were tiny and not great. It was nice to have two sink in the room.
a wonderful hotel in looks and employees. Everyone and everything were wonderful. we would definitely stay here again.
Stayed one night here on our recent road trip, and we could not have been happier with our stay. Our spacious room was very clean and the staff we dealt with very friendly. The included breakfast was very enjoyable and above what you get at other hotels. There was a lovely-looking indoor pool that we did not get to enjoy (we arrived too late for a swim, but it closed at a reasonable 10 pm), and an adjacent game room with a pool table. While there were signs (and other reviewers) mentioning renovations, we did not see any taking place. Bottom line, we enjoyed our stay and were happy with this hotel.
Steeplegate in Davenport is a hotel we will return too. They are in the midst of a renovation and I am confident our suggestions for new chairs in rooms and changing of towels if staying multiple nights will occur.
It was horrible. Property is run down… faded signs, edging missing. Arrived a little early to an empty hotel. Was told room was not ready despite no one there - lot was empty. I have stayed in hundreds of hotels- first time no effort was made on early check-in. I was told to come back. Room barely maintained. Obviously they are interested in running as cheaply as possible and do not care for customer experience. There are other options…. I suggest you you take other option unless you you don't care for a decent experience.
Hotel room was very clean and newly remodeled. I was surprised that the floor was a wood laminate and not carpeted. Breakfast was better than most hotels that offer free breakfast. The lady that works in the breakfast makes real breakfast potatoes that were excellent. They also had biscuits and gravy and sausage.
The premises are large and spread out. It appears there are only 2 floors and you will walk around alot to find your room. The elevator, if you need one, are in the rear, so be prepared to use the trolley for your belongings. The rooms are large, no carpet, pillows thin. The breakfast was basic, not as plentiful or varied as other BW plus locations. Use the coffee machine in the lobby for a decent. A real asset is the restaurant on-site. We enjoyed our late dinner meal with the very pleasant waitstaff.
Stayed here Sunday night, another BW plus in Clive on Monday and back here Tue night. I am really impressed with the BW Plus brand. Sun. night was in a king room and Tue night in a 2 Queen bed. We always stay on the upper floors to avoid dogs. Overall the cleanliness was great. Location was safe but check directions before. This would be a great family location as there was a huge indoor swimming pool. Breakfast was of high quality with dishes and metal utensils. The attendant was very efficient. This is a very unusual design. This is a large facility built in a hexegon around the pool. Despite the map you are given, you will end up doing a lot of walking around to find things. This could be a problem if someone has difficulty walking. There is a restaurant and bar on site. The king room had a Slippery shower floor and no grab bar. There was no freezer in the fridge. The floor had carpet. Tue. night was in a double queen room. It had a tile floor . This room had 2 sinks ! this would be a real plus for more than 2 . No freezer on fridge. We did not use shower but there were no grab bars. Unless there is a nonslip floor or mats a grab bar should be in all rooms. This is really a good location and we will seriously consider staying here in the future.
Good value and no issues, Staff was great and Breakfast was much better than expected. Building being renovated - that will improve and modernize amenities I would recommend this location if you are staying in Davenport.
Pool area was cold and pool heater was broken. It was like swimming in am ice bath. Hot tub not available for use. Very few pool towels available. Tables in pool area were blocked off and had to be rented which made visiting with friends comfortably nearly impossible. The room was ok...though there were missing ceiling tiles with exposed lighting and lots of stains on the walls/ceiling. Bathroom was freezing and shower water barely got warm. In general, didn't enjoy our stay.
Our room was not cleaned and we were checked into a room that had towels laying everywhere and booze bottles all over. We did not get there early. By 7pm you should have all your rooms ready for guests. Room was cold and took all night to finally heat up. We booked a suite with a jacuzzi and the water heater was not able to keep up and we could not use it because there was not enough hot water. Stains on the carpet in the room. Shower water pressure was atrocious. The security lock on the door had been ripped out so we only had the deadbolt to use for any feeling of security. Mold smell permeated the entire hotel. The room vents were clogged with dirt and dust and look like they have never been cleaned or serviced. Other people were leaving the hotel as their room heaters were not working and it was -5 outside so heat was a necessity. If this was once a nice hotel the owners have let it fall into such disrepair that it's worse than a pay by the hour motel.
The staff was super kind, the breakfast was restaurant quality, and the whole experience was positive. It's close to I-80 and was great for a night's stay before getting back on the road. The indoor pool and overall hotel style is a funky kind of area.Very pleasurable experience.
It would have been a great stay but the kids wanted to swim and the pool was freezing. It might as well have been an outdoor pool. We want to make it a tradition to go here for New Years as it was a great time other than the kids not wanting to swim because it was too cold. It was nice that there was a party in the atrium and they were playing music all night and it was a great time.
Best place to stay as the gate heading west. All the amenities were present. The facilities were clean and well placed. The staff was friendly and respectful. They will go out of their way to make your stay a good experience. The restaurant on site was excellent. The food was delicious.
We stayed here on our move across the country. This was our last night and we were so tired of driving. The hotel was excellent. Was clean and had so many amenities to offer. Was quiet and we had our dogs with us and the room was perfect and the grounds were perfect to walk the dogs around. Staff were friendly and professional. A great place to stay.
Stayed at several hotels in Davenport, this was the nicest and cleanest for this price range. Would stay again. also have dog friendly room foe my travel companion. Good location for picking up a few things.
We just needed a place to sleep. Price was fair. Room was large, but dated. Location was good for heading into downtown Davenport for dinner. Pool was fine. It med our needs for a Roadtrip stop! I was travelling with my son (11). Staff was friendly and helpful.
Accommodations were fine. The hotel needs updating but is fine, it looks like they are working on it. It is a very large property and these things take time. Great pool area indoors for the kids. I have to say…The staff are PHENOMENAL. Great customer service from the front desk to the bar to the housekeeping. Really impressed with the service. Thank you!
One of my favorite places to stay whetehr on business OR for personal travel reason. Great restaurant and bar, quiet, nice surroundings, rooms are all nice and clean AND staff is very friendly and helpful
Hotel is a bit dated but well maintained, clean and staff it helpful. Breakfast is standard but well stocked and consistent every stay. Lounge is convenient for those long days when you just want to get back to relax and not have to go out for a meal.
I stayed here on a road trip and was not disappointed. The room itself was clean and comfortable. The price was reasonable. The staff members were friendly. If you're not familiar with this region, you should plan accordingly. There aren't many services for quite a while in any direction after the Quad Cities area. Davenport is always a good area to stop for plenty of hotel and restaurant choices. I would definitely stay here again
I gave one circle because this hotel needs to be renovated ASAP! The toilet stopped working in one of my rooms. Another one of my rooms smelled like mildew or mold. I changed that room and then I got a room where the shower was clogged and wouldn't drain.
Close to freeways. Nice on site restaurant and full bar. Nice rooms overlooking the indoor pool great for families! Close to the John Deere pavilion! Casino close by 5 minutes. 10 minutes to Iowa 80. Worlds largest truck stop. Must stop if in the area. Been there done that!! Where else are you going to see a Chiropractor, Barber, Showers and a Dentist at a truck stop. Nuff said.
A beautiful place along with staff that cared. Good location, suite was set up very nice. The room was clean and the breakfast good. Everything was hot and fresh. We would recommend this place to anyone.
Will not stay here again. We stayed here in 2022. The weather was warm. NO A/C. Mid 70's in the rooms. Front desk says they shut the A/C because summer was over. Slept in a hot box of a room. Next morning, no hot water. Checked out early and drove away. Thought I'd give it another chance since it was cheaper than other places, now I know why. Again, mid 70's in the room. No problem, I turned on the air and went to have a bite in the restaurant. Come back and the room is in the high 70's. Down to the front desk I go and they laugh at me saying everything works. They send a boy up to check it out. He takes the batteries out of the thermostat and replaces them. No change. I then demanded a new room for the last night. The A/C was a bit better but still not great. Hot tub was also covered and pool was closed....again. Do not stay here!
Room was clean, employees were helpful and friendly. Breakfast was great. Room was perfect. Pool was a pleasant swim. Bed was very comfortable. Got a room right next to the courtyard and was an easy access to the lobby and pool and lounge and restaurant.
This is a great place for hotshot truckers as well as everyone else. Ample parking, restaurant in the hotel, full hot breakfast, great staff. I highly recommend this hotel. They go the extra mile to make it nice.
I travel a lot so knowing we have a friendly staff a clean room a good breakfast means a lot to me. I stated other properties in the area with less satisfaction than I achieved here so I would very much recommend this hotel.
Staff was very friendly and helpful...but general maintenance and cleanlinees were lacking. Live bugs and dirty floor in the bathroom. Very loud bath fan. Restaurant had just average food. Breakfast was the usual chep alternatives but breakfast are was cold and carpets were filthy.
The hotel is very clean, but a little outdated (specifically room decor and showers). The pool was nice, and even warm, but the hot tub is no longer functioning. But still, we really enjoyed the atrium with the seating and games. Unfortunately on the weekends they allow large parties in the atrium, which was a little disappointing when we were there as a family of 5 trying to enjoy the pool and atrium. Breakfast was a little lacking, the restaurant where breakfast is served is very nice but the hot options available just were not good. There was enough to get our stomachs full, but nothing spectacular. We didn't have any issues with the hotel staff, everyone was overall friendly and helpful. The rooms were very hot and the thermostat was not functioning. We heard multiple other guests complaining about the same issue. We had to leave our window open all day and night, otherwise our room was 75-80 degrees. Overall, we would stay here again if in the quad cities area.
Aarti, the Front Desk Clerk who checked me in was marvelous. Her customer service was exemplary. Professional. Personal and kind. I wish all front line customer service personnel would provide this level of service. Thank you Aarti and Best Western for a great experience.
Great BW plus with bar and restaurant. Nice larger rooms with thermostats to control heat & AC. Indoor pool and hot tub. Good location off freeway. Conveniently located Free hot breakfast: Great selection of bacon, sausage, eggs, waffles, and much more. Great quality. Truly a BW Plus quality breakfast. . Very happy. Great bar and restaurant in BW ,We had dinner in bar. Very friendly bartender handled bar and our table. Easy check out. Friendly staff.
Hotel was clean. But needs updating. everything is old. From Ice machine to chairs and fixtures For the price i was very disappointed. Multiple hotels in the area we half the price but i choose this one because it was best western. disappointed.
Little older place. Great service. Got a good night sleep. Large open area near indoor pool had overpowering smell of chlorine and I think the pool wasn't even open for use.. If ever back in the area would look to stay here again so sure.
Clean room and good location to other business - on location restaurant with good food and selection. Staff friendly and helpful. Have stayed hear many times and is my first choice when in Davenport, which is frequently.
Clean and spacious rooms and comfortable beds. I don't know what kind of pillows they have, but they were hella comfortable too. Not the stiff or overstuffed pillows that other places have. I got great sleep. The AC works perfect and great water pressure in the shower. The best breakfast ever! Real eggs and bacon. They had sausage, waffles, great fruit cups . . . and the biscuits and gravy . . .yummmm. Deb and Opal were so friendly and awesome! They made you feel like you were eating in a family dining room. At night, the bartender was so friendly, no one wanted to eat at the tables. Everyone wanted to eat at the bar. The front desk were all friendly and extremely helpful. When we go to Davenport again, We're definitly staying here.
This is an awesome hotel! From friendly people during our check in, spacious clean rooms, great beds and pillows, awesome showers and great room service! The breakfast is a huge buffet! Deb was very friendly, and kept everything taken care of. Therre was 2 types of fresh scrambled eggs (not powdered), sausage, bacon, biscuits and gravy, waffles, fresh fruit, fresh homemade banana bread, and the regular anemities on at other hotels. There's also a restaurant with a bar downstairs. Tony was awesome friendly bartender, and the food was huge portions and delicious! The only drawback was the guest washing machine didn't work, and there was only one ice machine working in this huge hotel.
Newer hotel, so it was fresh, clean and well lit. Pool was warm and nice. Bed was comfortable and the room was clean. Shower had an adjustable shower head for height and spray pattern which was nice for the kids. We arrived later in the night and left relatively early so the was minimum interaction w staff but any had was pleasant. The ac worked well and it was quiet in the room
The staff started breakfast 30 minutes early because our softball team had an early game. They brought coolers of ice to the parking lot so the parents could relax while the girls swam. They went above and beyond!
They saved me from staying another night at a disgusting hotel across the street and even checked me in early because I had nowhere to stay for the 4 hours between checking out of the dumpster fire and them!
I needed a place for my son and his friends to stay due to car problems on their way home from Chicago. I called the hotel directly to make the reservation and the person I spoke with was very helpful and friendly. My husband drove 6+ hours to tow the car home and also stayed overnight. He was very impressed with the delicious hot complimentary breakfast.
We needed a place before we went on to our next stay for the Iowa 80 Jamboree and chose this location due to closeness to where we were going and cost. We were very pleased with our stay and wish we had stayed there during the entire trade show instead of moving to a hotel near the Iowa 80 Truck Stop.
We had a great family group trip here. Great breakfast, clean well equipped rooms ,and a staff that that ensured I will stay here again! Try the Old Fashoned or Margaritas the bar. Fantastic drinks and Bartender!!
If I didn't have to get up super early for work I would've stop by the restaurant it looked really nice and prices beats uber eats or door dash with just a quick glance at the menu when checking in! I surely will be back with more free time to explore there amenities
Very nice! Clean and beautiful building, friendly and attentive staff. The breakfast was very well-run and set up well. We were there for a baseball tournament, and would 100% return in the future. Very family friendly!
Although chosen from a list of preferred hotels provided by the tournament promoter, this hotel is NOT at all accommodating to large parties with children. The staff was rude and unprofessional toward the players, and we overheard them referring to our players as "those little s**ts." There are many other hotel options in the area- choose one of those.
Extremely well trained staff, that was professional and very friendly. Room was especially clean and the pool area was really nice. Good location that we will definitely stay at upon our return for baseball.
Stopped by this restaurant because I heard about their famous fish fry on Friday's and Saturdays. Baked or fried its a generous portion at a fair price!! The bartender is personable and made good cocktails and good jokes!!
Staff helpful and friendly. Hotel was clean and modern. On-site restaurant is excellent. Breakfast is fresh and well stocked. Not a bread presentation like so many other hotels. Overall great place to stay and will make it a permanent place to stay when in davenport.
The rooms are old, outdated, and in disrepair. Offered a different room, but they're all the same. The bed frames are so loud, you must lay motionless or you will be woken by every toss or turn. The pool and atrium area is decent, unless you are asked to leave to accommodate another party. Again…asked to LEAVE the area while your children are in the pool.
It's not very often any more that you find great accommodations and a good restaurant in a reasonably priced motel. Pool area was sparkling clean as was our room. A little tricky navigating the frontage road access but we'll worth it.
I've stayed here 3 or 4 times over the last few years and have never had a problem or complaint. Staff has always been friendly and engaging. Didn't get the chance to eat in the restaurant this trip but have in the past. It was very good.
Love the size of the room. Bed was comfortable. Really appreciated the walk in shower!! All staff that we dealt with were super friendly. Great selection for breakfast and excellent coffee. This will be the place we will stay when we are in the Davenport area.
We were at this BW for 2 nights. The front desk employees were nice and checked us in quickly. The rooms were clean and decent. The beds were horrible to sleep in once you had 2 people in them you sunk in the middle. Did not get good sleep at all - im sure this hotel isnt new so new mattresses would be a plus. The bathrooms were fine and the shower heads were great. The doors on the room did not close well again a little updating would help. The breakfast was average and was over by 930 so we didnt utilize that both days. The pool area was great for our team to order pizzas, hang out and socialize. That area closed at 11 and we moved to the front lobby to stay away from the other hotel rooms. The staff dealt were our party very well and let us enjoy our weekend.
I booked a room with a jetted tub in it. Once I got to my room i noticed it was just a shower. I went to the front desk and asked about it. I was told there was a maintenance issue with the room i was supposed to be in but it would be available on Tuesday & i could move into it. I was never updated on the status of that. I mentioned that when the heat kicked on in room 148 it was very loud. It would actually wake me up at night. I was told that maintenance would look at it. I was scheduled for fresh towels & sheets on Wednesday since i was staying for 5 nights That never happened. Also the toilet seat is loose in room 148. I am not sure how that would not get fixed. i would assume the housekeeper cleans them after every stay & would note that. I didn't have any tools with me or i would have fixed it myself.
Was a descent place to hang out and let the kids swim while mom and dad have cocktails. Disappointed no music or dance floor in the bar. Due to weather we were forced back to our rooms and cut our night early.
The lady at check in was so rude. No personality at all. My shower was full of hair and mud pieces and it didn't drain at all! Nobody came to fix it and my it was my daughters party and just embarrassing and can I please add the beds were so uncomfortable
The front desk people are very accommodating. I travel every week for my job and when I'm in the Quad Cities this is the place I always stay. While it's an older hotel it is very well maintained and taken care of.
Outdated and dirty rooms. Garbage on the floor and old vanity with cigarette burn stains in the bathroom. People partying in the atrium with glass bottles. Came here to celebrate my son's birthday with a couple of friends, but the whole atrium/pool/hot tub is packed with a party of some sort. Kids running around unsupervised. Wish I'd have known they let people use the pool for their big parties. I would've gone elsewhere.
Had a great stay at Steeplegate on November 21st. Everything was so clean, the room was large and comfortable, and the kids LOVE the pool and atrium area….plenty of room to spread out! Staff and service were excellent (as usual)!
Great hotel, clean, friendly staff, hot breakfast, great restaurant and bar on site. Indoor pool, hot tub and games with pool side rooms available. Will definitely stay here again, highly recommend this hotel.
My husband and I took a trip across country and back again. Wish we could have had THIS hotel at our midway destination for five nights! But this was just a one night stay. VERY helpful staff! VERY comfortable room.
1st room had odor and was dirty. 2nd room's toilet had not been cleaned. Hot tub was NEVER in proper working order for us to use..this was the reason we chose this hotel...a nice relaxing get away....
Wow! Loved the large spacious rooms! Restaurants and bar on site! Great food and waitress was excellent! I will put this on my list of hotels to stop at the next time I'm passing through! Great location too!
The only reason I didn't give this a 5 star is because of the yipping dogs. Breakfast was exceptional. Very clean. Staff was very courteous and helpful. It would be good if there was a designated floor for the pets.
Very clean, friendly staff, rooms were well maintained, pool was clean. Towels were soft fresh. Hotel is very well mIntained. Outside and inside. Manager reaches out personally to make sure your experience was good
Excellent customer service received from check in staff and breakfast area staff. The entire hotel needs attention to cleaning. The carpet in lobby area is dirty. The glass doors throughout the facility were loaded with hand and finger prints. The facility could use decor updating with fresh paint and new flooring in light and bright colors. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable.
The room could use better lighting. There was wallpaper peeling in bathroom. One of the 2 queen beds was positioned too close to the wall making it difficult to climb into bed from that side. Access to our room was through the W Entrance located at the west end of the building where we could find no Handicapped Parking Spaces. We do not need a handicapped room but because of my wife's balance and dizziness issues a parking space near the entrance is helpful. Management should designate some Handicapped Parking Spaces near the W Entrance. There was a hand sanitizer station and a mix of hot and cold items available for a dine-in breakfast.
Nice. Lean quiet hotel. Good breakfast and amenities. I will stay again. Lots of parking and staff was friendly. Can't say much more but need 200 characters. I will defiantly stay here again when in the area. King bed was nice. Hit breakfast.
I was stressed due to travel and a failed attempt to stay at a different hotel (that we walked out of). When I walked in the staff offered comfort and a fair price for a room that was big and comfortable. Breakfast being included was a bonus.
It was a great stay. The room was a tiny bit rundown but very comfortable. Loved the jacuzzi! The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. We are looking forward to staying here everytime we pass through the area.
I was traveling cross country with my family and the BWP Steeplegate Inn was our last hotel stop. The room was wonderful. Very spacious. Very clean. Very comfortable. The staff was very welcoming. And if you are looking for great coffee head over to The Coffee Revolution in town.
My room was spacious and attractive. All employees were pleasant and helpful. The breakfast featured a good selection of food, excellent quality, and plenty of food available. The lobby and all common areas were nicely decorated . There was a large and beautiful room with fireplace adjacent to lobby. I stayed in five different motels on this trip. This one was by far the best; and amazingly, the least expensive. Truly excellent accommodations, and an outstanding value.
The entire staff was courteous, friendly and helpful throughout my entire week's stay, more so than any other hotel I have stayed at in recent memory. The hotel was very clean, conveniently located near major highways and a great value overall. I will definitely stay here again if I am in the area.
This was by far one of the best places we have every stayed at! The whole team was as good as you can get! Well informed, polite and double checking to make sure all was good. The breakfast crew kept everything ready and full. A great hot breakfast! The crew there even talked with us about where we were headed and ect. Simply the best!
Excellent accomodations and breakfast. Staff were wonderful, ensuring we were comfortable and had everything we needed. The atrium and pool were gorgeous--even a hot tub and pool table!! The room was spacious, comfortable and very clean. We loved the walk-in shower--first one we've seen in a hotel. We definitely would stay here again if in the area, and signed up for Best Western points. We were definitely impressed!
This is an amazing property, so clean and refreshing. Great price for the beautiful accommodations. The staff Izzy at the front desk and Anthony in the restaurant and bar, were the best staffers I have met at any hotel, the made the stay wonderful. This Best Western Plus had easy access on and off the freeway. This BW Inn was a big property, well kept and very clean. Plenty of parking space. The room was beautiful. Clean and Comfy. The food at the restaurant was exceptional. The Best Western Steeplegate in is by far the BEST place my husband and myself have stayed in for many years. Great staff, beautiful decor. Thank you Steeplegate.
One of MY favorite places to stay when traveling for Business back abd forth between California and Michigan. EVERYTHING at this Inn IS excellent including hotel staff and all hotel ammenities. Restaurant/bar IS very good too.
We had our wedding here July 10th 2021 and we had alot of our of town guests. Christi coordinated everything seamlessly, Vickie and Michelle at the front desk were AMAZING, they ran their selves around crazy fulfilling all requests big and small for our entire wedding party and guests. The event staff were efficient and friendly, we definitely felt like we were at a second home here. Highly recommend!
Loved the exercise room with dumbbells and cardio equipment. Loved the location and ease of access to freeway. Loved the size of the guest rooms. Convenient parking and easy access with friendly, accommodating staff.
Great hotel staff. Very accommodating and friendly. Restaurant was good. Overall... the beds were comfortable. Rooms are in a need a major renovation. Pealing wallpaper. Furniture in need of repair. Grounds were in need of mowing and landscaping.
I want to start off by saying that staff were kind, caring and friendly. Which is about the only good thing I have to say about this Establishment. We were in town for a baseball tournament, which is very common for this hotel and area as the Bettplex is not far. We had planned a 3 night stay and only lasted 2.. Our first night we checked in late afternoon went right to baseball and didn't return until close to midnight.. our room had an odor but the air had not been on or circulating so we assumed it was just stale old hotel room smell. We went to bed turning the air on.. We figured out quickly that the air was broken and no air was circulating at all. We did have windows that opened so we were able to open them however it was raining over night so we couldn't get good circulation. When we woke up the next morning as we were cleaning up around the room and opened the curtains we found A DIRTY DIAPER behind one of them. Everyone one in our room is over the age of 9.. we do not use diapers.. we went to the front desk and they told us they were unsure if they had another room for us as there were lots of tournaments going on.. the hotel was not very full, I'll just add… They did end up switching us rooms around 12 or 1 that day.. talked with head manager Michelle and was told she was comping our room for that night .. We went to the new room and the air was working we moved our stuff and went on to our baseball games .. came back around 7/8 that evening and found that next to the bed was shelled sunflower seeds like someone was eating them and spitting them on the floor.. Also our bathroom sink was clogged.. went to the front desk..management was not there but spoke with lead at front desk and they came and vacuumed the sunflower seeds up and sent a gentlemen to unclog our sink. He said he unclogged it apologized for the inconvenience and left. We went to brush our teeth, sink is clogged again. The guy was back 3/4 times unclogging the sink..he was there until 11/12 ..we were tired went to bed.. the front desk said they couldn't comp our room for this night but would give us 20%off because management was not there and they couldn't make that decision.. woke up in the morning and there was water under the sink and behind the toilet and in front of the shower.. and the sink was still clogged!!! Went back to front desk, management still was not there. The lady at the front said that she saw no notes that we were getting comped for our room the first night but that we did ask for it!!! ???? We could talk to management when she came in, which was later that afternoon when we would be at the complex having games.. I left our numbers and emails .. We never talked with management.. She NEVER CALLED.. They offered us a King jacuzzi sweet but there was no way we were taking the chance on another gross room. we checked out ending our little time away early, sad inconvenience.. We were charged $98 for a 2 night stay that should have not cost us a penny… I will never stay here again nor any other Best Western for that matter. The other guests in our party in other rooms had issues with Ants, leaks and toilets etc… when I was checking out the guy in front of me was checking out as well he stated he had pictures of things left on his hotel room floor that should have been cleaned, the lady at the desk said..”you should have shown us that at the beginning of your stay, as there is nothing we can really do about it as your checking out”… NEVER AGAIN….
Multiple people in our group had rooms cancelled despite setting up a block of rooms. Room fridge was never cleaned out from previous occupant. When going through the breakfast they had out rotten bananas with bugs all over them.
I love sweet and nice the staff was and the food was awesome.I really like the room and the food was great and the and the hot tub and the pool was nice. And the room with the shower was awesome and so was the jacuzzi I will be coming back again .
The room was clean and comfortable. We especially liked that when we traveled with our dog we were near a door to the outside that was easy for the dog to go out on occasion. The pool was well kept and the area around it clean. We ate the first night in the restaurant that is attached and I was really blown away by the kindness of the waiter who took care of us as well as three other tables that were occupied at the time we were dining. What was most impressive is that this waiter saw that a very elderly man with a walker was having some discomfort while sitting and he asked him if he could get him a pillow which the man readily accepted. WOW! what kindness and service! The food at the restaurant was fair enough . We enjoyed the grab and go breakfast which was easy and safe to enjoy during this pandemic. The front desk staff were very attentive as well . The hotel is situated for easy access to highways , If in the area again we would stay here
If you are mindful of your $, check this place out. Great staff. Rooms are clean. Decor is outdated, but that's the trade off. Really strong restaurant and bar. Really great hotel food. Kids loved it. We'll be back.
A very nice hotel and staff. Awesome pool and hot tub. Easy access from I-80 with restaurants and gas stations close by. Hotel is well maintained with a very responsive staff. Have stayed here many times and will continue to do so.
I came for a business trip with and brought family with , Saturday was a complete mess. Entire atrium full of people , children. It was the only day the pool area was warm enough to enjoy . Sunday-Wednesday it was freezing. This is a hotel for in town guests not for traveling guests.
The Steeplegate always goes above and beyond to make family events great. We have enjoyed many birthdays, Easter and Christmas at this hotel. There is room for updates in rooms, but in general the staff make it a great place and the atrium is a great place for family time.
The staff was super nice and great to deal with. There are different entrances to the building so you can drive right up to your entrance without having your door exit to the parking lot, as in the ease of a drive up motel room with a feeling of more security. I would stay here again.
Checked in with other families due to snowstorm, what a mistake! I was given a room that was marked as “clean”, but had not been since the last occupants. This happened 2 other times before a clean room was found. This also happened to 3 other families that were with our group. Disgusting!!
Room was ok internet is spotty in hotel had to switch rooms to have dependable internet. Staff knew there was an internet problems with strength of signal Fortunately hotel was not to busy and I was able to switch rooms witch the staff did willingly
Checkin was okay, but there was no hot water in the whole place for our stay and we got billed full rate anyhow. Internet was spotty. Did have a pre-packed breakfast and the room was pretty clean at least.
This property is wonderful. It has a restaurant and bar attached with good food and wonderful drinks. Every time I have stayed here, the bartenders have always been so friendly. The hotel is clean, updated and has a huge atrium with a pool, whirlpool, pool table and lots if tables. It does smell alittle high in chlorine for me. Everyone is helpful and friendly.
Had a great experience from time we booked the hotel till we arrived .Michelle was very helpful. She answered many of my questions on many of my calls. Our room was large and had nice furniture for a motel and the couch was actually comfy. It was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast they served was adequate for the times. Coffee was very good. I am very critical about motels and I was very satisfied with this one. We are planning on returning next April.
Very nice hotel for very little cost. Customer service was very nice and helpful. Rooms were clean. Food was a+. Great location.. haff an indoor pool and hot tub. Wish the restuarant was open but covid kept it closed but the lounge/ bar had amazing food.
We stayed one night at the Best Western Plus Steeplegate Inn. We were in room 111, which is a handicap room. It had a big bathroom, with a low bathtub and shower. The room was a nice size. It had a queen bed, a small fridge with a freezer compartment, TV, A/C, microwave, and a one cup coffee maker. There was no safe, and the coffee had not been replaced from the previous occupancy. But the coffee problem was fixed by the front desk staff. And they also provided band-aids for a cut my companion had gotten. One restaurant was closed by the time we got there, so we ate in the bar/restaurant. The bartender was also the waiter, so he was very busy, but he was a friendly guy, doing his best. My companion said that she had the best steak she'd had in a long time. The pool was open, but we didn't use it (even in the adults only hour). But the hot tub was not working. The pool area seemed to be noisy while the pool was being used. The breakfast was a grab and go affair. Unfortunately, during the night, we had problems with the toilet, and only manual intervention prevented it from overflowing. Not good. We'd probably stay there again, if we were in the area.
With all the other options to stay in the area and the experience my family and I had gone through at the Best Western with the plumbing issue and the nats in my room I would NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE stay here.
First was a very frustrating check-in where there was only ONE front desk clerk with several customers needing to check in (at 5:00pm on a Friday!) and the partying guys in front of us were allowed to take an extra long time goofing around while everyone else waited (we had a formal dinner to attend). On top of it, NONE of the other customers were following the hotel's protocols of social distancing and face covering requirements during a pandemic while laughing & yelling, and staff never said a word. Additionally, we saw NO OTHER guests (and some staff) in the entire hotel adhered to the face mask requirement except for one couple during our entire 5-night stay. I mentioned this to the front desk and they sounded shocked, but apparently nothing was done about it. Breakfast: the only coffee available to us was so weak it was like water — we couldn't drink it at all. On top of that, there were only a few packaged, cheap food items offered as "breakfast" and the restaurant was closed indefinitely. We had to drive many miles away every morning just to get decent coffee and a small bite to eat — 5 mornings. This is pathetic. We've never stayed at a hotel where the coffee was so bad we couldn't even drink it. This was our 2nd stay at this hotel but after this experience, it will be our last. The reason I gave two stars instead of one is that the bed was very comfortable and the room was nice & spacious. Everything outside the room was terrible.
The hotel was well appointed, the staff were super helpful. They were very careful with their Covid cleanliness. Room was clean and larger than expected. The Cafe and bar there was really amazing. We both had the apple salad, one with honey mustard, 1 with ranch. Both dressings were homemade and super tasty.
The hotel is old and in need of a complete renovation or tear down. A moldy musty smell pervades the entire space. There are two door blocks plus a deadbolt, which doesn't inspire confidence in the safety of the location. The room was clean enough except for the shower which had mold and a shower seat filled with mold that clearly had not been cleaned in a very long time. On the plus side, the hotel staff person was super nice and as helpful as he could be under the circumstances. This hotel falls way below the bar for a Best Western Plus and I do not recommend staying here.
It appears any monies recently invested here were spent on the lobby area and the repacking of the lot. Room we were in was in need of updating. Also had problems with the carbon monoxide detector going off. Was told by the front desk quickest fix was for me to crawl under the desk and reset the detector at 12:45 am. Our advice is find somewhere else to stay.
Stayed here one night on way to Mississippi River Cruise. The place was immaculate. Cleanest hotel I have ever stayed in. We enjoyed pizza from their restaurant. Delicious and hot! Great job, everyone!
This hotel was immaculate, the staff, especially Izzy, were so very nice!! They made sure gusts felt sad with masks and social distancing. The room was comfortable and really clean! We will be staying here again and again as we travel through Davenport. The pool and hot tub were so clean, and there are a few restaurants nearby with great food. Can't wait to see Izzy again. She's a very valuable member of your team!!!!
We stayed in this hotel during our cross country move. It was I think the quietest hotel room that we have ever been in. The room was close to the freeway but no noise was heard. The beds were fairly comfortable and the staff at the front desk, in the evening was super friendly.
If you want awful customer service And a dumpy drunk infested hotel stay here. We had an awful experience last weekend at the Best western plus. They gave away our rollaway bed after I confirmed it twice before showing up. There were 3 drunk couples harassing people as they walked in in front of the hotel and the lobby had parents laying all over the couches and chairs and pizza boxes thrown on the floor because the garbage can couldn't hold those size boxes. It was disgusting. There was no manager there!?!? Izzi was so nasty I was appalled but then again look what I'm dealing with. She told me to leave!!! After I said said what a crappy hotel that was for giving away our rollaway bed so we had no where to sleep 2 adults and 3 children. She said that was a swear word?? Crappy??? But she had a lobby full of loud trailer trash and drunks out the front door and she told be to leave. I couldn't believe it. But I didn't want to give them my money anyway. Some of the other parents of team players stayed there and said it was a total dirty dump and they would never stay there again either. Shame on best western for such poor service. I travel a lot and you r just lost another customer. When I spoke to the manager today no apology nothing. She needs to go a job that doesn't deal with the public and best western should get rid of her as she losing business for them.
We stay at a lot of hotels with my sons travel baseball team and this was a great stay! Nice large rooms and THE MOST COMFORTABLE BEDS EVER! Spacious bathroom with great water pressure in the shower. Everything was very clean and well maintained. Staff was very friendly and helpful. This will be our go to place to stay when in the area again.
I always stay at Best western when I vacation, so it was a no brained that I would stay there when having car issues in this area. During this time with COVID-19 going on I was able to have a great stay because the staff is always helpful and the cleanliness is always satisfactory. Great place to stay
State well transmission was being replaced in local Freightliner dealer. Nothing was open due to virus. Vicky from front desk went to Texas Roadhouse and got me a rack of ribs and a great dinner on our own time and wouldn't take a tip. Nice clean room great staff. Recommend the motel
Breakfast to go was the only bad experience. During COVID 19, only amenity available was internet. Has a nice atrium seating area near pool and fitness center that were closed. Not within walking distance to any restaurants. Staff are always friendly.
We found it a bit awkward to get to, off of the interstate. Parking lot was in poor condition, but the hotel was very nice! The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the room was quiet and comfortable..
Had to stay for work, but this hotel guaranteed I'll be back any time I'm in Davenport. Good food, great room, easy access to anything you want to do, and every employee we met was polite and fun to talk to. Will definitely be back.
Friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating staff. Very clean rooms and great amenities. Location is close to local attractions. Lounge had a nice bar with several good brews on tap and great service. Complimentary breakfast was great with attentive staff.
The food at prarie grill was excellent. The decor is beautiful.the check in was painless.the atrium is very nice. The beds were so comfortable. I loved the citrus soaps. They left your skin clean and soft.the towels were too of the line. Not cheap like alot of hotels. Definitely will b staying here. Again.
Very clean hotel with a great layout. The rooms are in a circle with the lobby, restaurant, bar and recreation/pool all centrally located. Staff is friendly and the complimentary breakfast is the standard fare.
The room was nice and clean. The rate was reasonable for the time of year we were travelling. Beds were very comfortable. The hotel is huge. The hotel had a nice pool area but a lot of chlorine is used to keep it clean. I could smell it in the hallway. There is an elevator in this hotel. Our room was on the second floor left side of the elevator. It was very quiet. The hotel provided a hot buffet breakfast of scrambled eggs, with sausage, bacon and French toast. Overall a very nice breakfast to start off our day. Orange juice was yummy too!
She looks nice, but get on her bad side and dont even think of crossing this fiery red head. Especially if you've been drinking for a company christmas party, minding your own business, and having fun! At least we were being smart and staying somewhere rather than leaving. If we would have left, we would've left WAY earlier as to avoid apparently ruining her night at work. We've NEVER had a good experience at this work christmas party over the last few years, but THIS tops the cake!!!!!
The drinks are way overpriced at the lounge, "Onehundred West." The bar staff is uninviting and rude. They were out of stock of a lot of liquors to make mixed drinks. We were there for a company christmas party and will definitely be suggesting a different location for next year.
We stayed one night at the Steeplegate Inn on a recent business trip. Check in was smooth. The hotel is a bit dated but was clean and comfortable. The pool area is in an atrium and was a lot of fun. Has a hot tub to relax in as well. The hotel wasn't busy when we stayed midweek and we had the pool to ourselves. Breakfast was excellent. A variety of hot and cold items. Its one of the best hotel breakfasts we have had. We would definitely recommend Steeplegate Inn if you are passing through Iowa.
What a wonderful way to bring in the new year. We were with co workers whom are now our friends. The food was good. The atmosphere was fantastic. Clean rooms/location. Staff in Lounge is unbelievable. Friendly, engaging, attentive, fast, smiling, wonderful caring people.
We are from this area and have stayed at this property before so I feel I can comment. I booked a suite at the Steeple gate for $130. Rate for a standard room I believe was about $90. For the money this is a wonderful property. The pool/atrium area is very nice, the rooms are well maintained and the staff is very accomodating, to include the two employees on two separate occasions who stopped to ask us if we needed help or direction. For the same price of a Holiday Inn Express you get a superior experience here. Downtown is a couple miles drive but it is straight down Brady Street to the riverfront area, or there are a few eateries close to the hotel. In the past I've found the food to be good enough and reasonable, I do think there are better options especially down town. Boozies, Mac's Tavern, Me and Billy's, etc are all good options.
First off I would like to say that up until last Saturday night, I was ok staying at this property...now not so sure. I may have to take my companies business elsewhere. I checked in Saturday December 7, 2019, was greeted as usual (a lot of them know me because I stay at this location quite a bit for business). At 9:30 pm it started up, noise from a crowd smoking and drinking outside our room window...I called the front desk asking him to take care of this issue and he said he would. I watched as it continued for about another 5 minutes...no one showed up but they decided to go back in. 10:30 pm time for another cig. and of course the beer came along with their loud rude mouths. I called again, and again he said he would take care of it...no one showed up and 15 minutes later they returned back into the hotel. 12:20 AM guess what..yep, they returned again...now I am really upset. I called the young man at the front desk to which he said that the security guard is off and he can't do anything but he would change my room...really, we have to pack up and move rather than him taking care of the issue. I would strongly suggest that if you stay here don't get a room by the doors, stairs or even the ground floor. "GOOD LUCK" Oh I do want to say that the day staff is wonderful and I am sure they would have taken care of this issue ASAP!
Could not ask for more, nice clean place, great staff, indoor pool with hot tub and pool table, fast and easy internet, great Breakfest, near highway. I wish every hotel stay was as nice, maybe it's an Iowa thing.
My semi broke down so I stayed at this location from Friday night to Monday morning. The front desk was extremely helpful and kind throughout. The shuttle service they provided exceeded my expectations with all the running around I had to do checking on my repair work. Jay the maintenance manager was great! breakfast was good. Fish fry was excellent and the brunch on sunday was very enjoyable as well. Great people, great food.
Everytime I stay here, the staff goes out of their way to make me comfortable. The amenities are great. The rooms are large and usually, very clean. Its pretty quiet most of the time. And the grounds are always clean.
Great Stay. As a company man we stay it this hotel every time we are in the location. Great parking for our big trucks and it right down the road from a store. Witch is walking distance. The breakfast food is always good.
During a 14 day road trip, this property stood out as the most comfortable hotel we visited. The front desk staff was very pleasant on check-in. Our room was spacious, with a chair. Always a plus. We had our dogs along, so they accommodated us with a downstairs room, near the exit. There was a pet fee. There is an on-site restaurant which made it easy to stay in while it poured rain outside. This is a well-managed hotel. We'd stay here in the future.
This is an excellent hotel, well laid out and very clean, room was very adequate and roomy, had a weak internet signal at times, but no big deal, can't say enough about the quality of food at the restaurant, definitely recommend.
My stay was for one night only and I found it had everything I needed for a pleasant restful evening and departure in the morning. The review requires 200 characters and I can't think of anything else to say.
We stay at this Davenport Best Western nearly every time we head east. They have marvelous facilities and treat their guests with great respect. Plus, we earn enough points to get a free stay every few years!!
This place has many positives and a few negatives. Our room was great with a very good shower and comfy bed. Their breakfast was average, which included dried out potatoes and tasteless sausage. They have a nice pool/recreation area, but the hot tub water was only luke warm. While there are many doors for access, if you come in the front door with your luggage you have a long long walk to the elevator. Staff was pleasant and check-in check-out was quick.
They have pool, hot tub, excellent breakfast if you wake up early, comfortable beds, very clean rooms they Have a restaurant/lounge a good parking lot and elevator. We really enjoyed our time in there.
We traveling on a short week vacation. Reservation was made in advance, and the staff were great in offering diredtions and suggestions for us. Room was very nice and the breakfast buffet offered all one would need for a very nice breakfast.
Superb customer service! I really enjoy their breakfast staff. So cheery. Internet is fast! The pool and hot tub area is nice to use. The courtyard are so relaxing in the afternoon. Tuesday specials cant go wrong! Burger and beer 6$
This hotel was very clean and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The hotel is a bit outdated and the breakfast bar/area needs to be updated to make it feel cleaner like the rest of the hotel. Poor area/atrium was nice and spacious, even though we didn't get a chance to use it. Overall, I would stay here again and would reccomend this place to friends and family.
Can't begin to tell everything that was great about this stay!! This is the place to stay though if you don't feel like driving somewhere to eat or have a drink because it's all right there under one roof... My room was very inviting and large. Love the huge towels and comfy bed. All the amenities that I need. Warmly appointed and so clean. The Atrium is a large area with lots of seating that the family can swim, play pool, and play games while the parents relax in the hot tub. The breakfast is actually in the restaurant and is a fantastic buffet with real plates, glassware, and silverware!! The food is tasty and there's something for every appetite and diet. One of the best buffets I've ever experience at a hotel/motel. The 1 Hundred West Lounge is such an inviting place to let the days problems dissolve. Be sure to say HI to Tony the bartender....if you like Grasshoppers, he makes the BEST!!!! The Smokehouse burger is also very good and so filling!!
Except for the TV not working properly, it was an excellent, overnight stay. Staff, sleep comfort and breakfast were all excellent. This was an excellent value for the cost of the overnight stay at this hotel. We'll be staying here the next time we're passing through the area.
Clean, well appointed rooms. Comfortable beds. Nice bathrooms with adequate towel supply. Toiletries were actually high quality. Environmental controls were very efficient. Front desk staff were knowledgeable, friendly, efficient. The best place to stay in Davenport !
Our stay at the Best Western Steeple Gate is always wonderful. The staff are the friendliest around. Our dog travels with us at least 80% of the time. Best Western is the only hotel I found that accepts pets. This particular hotel always has treats ready for when she makes her way to the front desk.
We stayed at the hotel Thursday & Friday nights. The hotel was clean. Our room was nice, clean and well maintained. Staff was friendly. The pool area was inside and was kinda hot and humid (but outside temps were near 100 degrees those days. The Shopping center with Von Maur was about 2 miles away. Downtown area and water front were about 10 minutes away. All doors were locked, ice machines functioning. They have a breakfast buffet included with room which was decent.
We loved that we could bring our dog and our friends did too. The pool was great for the kids. The rooms were clean and nice. The area is close to the interstate. We would stay here again just so we could bring our dog.
We stayed here for our baseball tournament and would definitely stay again. Got a great deal on price through JP Sports. Rooms were clean and spacious. Only issue is the air conditioning which is why they didn't get 5 stars. It was either broken or malfunctioning. Room was 77 degrees and couldn't get it lower. Sounded like many people had issues in our group. Breakfast is great and held in the restaurant so there is plenty of seating. Doesn't open until 7:00 on weekends which stinks if you have early game like we did, you miss it. Lots of areas for teams to hang out in. Will stay here again. Staff is super friendly.
My wife and I stayed here the nights of 7/4/19 and 7/6/19. On the first night we were booked into a first floor room away from the pool - the most quiet. The second night we were in a 2nd floor room beside the pool - not real quiet but probably very good for family travel. Also, by the pool was a large atrium for group gatherings. Overall, Steeplegate Inn is at the top of places to stay with comfortable rooms and a great breakfast. My only criticism is that you must be careful to specify your room location when you check in or first make your reservation.
a excellent choice with very friendly staff. clean and very pleasing in many ways. good food and great service the ribs are amazing! the front desk staff were very helpfull and very willing to please rheir guests.
We have stayed here before. Their king whirlpool rooms are super nice. The breakfast is wonderful with lots of variety and spacious area to eat. And it is always quiet! A little out of the way but easy to find.
This place worked out well on our motorcycle trip East. Bed was comfortable, breakfast was ok, and it was not too far off the highway. There was also gas station close which helped with convenience. Staff was very helpful and gave tips on places near by to eat and get supplies.
Our stay was great at this hotel. Room was big and had lots of space. We had a King so it was roomy. Bed was comfy. Did not use the pool area, but it looked nice and clean. The hotel seemed clean and well cared for. Our breakfast was hot and it was good. We would definitely stay there again.
Our room smelled musty and of tobacco. Our TV did not work and the banquet hall where the wedding reception was had no air conditioning - it was broken so the room was extremely hot. Everyone left the reception.
Worst hotel ever!! DO NOT stay in a pool side room. The management does not have any control over this hotel! My family tried to enjoy a nice swim in the pool yet there were so many people we physically couldn't! Kids running crazy all over the hotel knocking on doors at 10pm, adults getting sloppy drunk in the atrium and unfortunately I found out this was not unusual, as the have a security guard on site on weekend nights. After several complaints to the front desk from us and other guests, we were told the guard was trying to quiet them down but was having a hard time.... my conclusion... the management has no control over this hotel and I will not be staying here again, nor would I ever recommend it to anyone!!
THE BEST! Check in quick and painless with friendly staff. Hotel is unique 5 sided shape allowing for parking all the way. It left us lots of room to park our truck and 50' trailer plus a lower truck parking area. The interior of the hotel rooms has tables and chairs for relaxing. The pool is inside a white gate. Now for the best part! We dropped our bags and headed to the bar & grille as they would be closing soon. We got a bucket of beer which we needed after getting all the way across Nebraska. My husband loves the sausage & cheese plate appetizer and I get the chicken, bacon, green apple, cranberry, pecan salad! Both wonderful and waitstaff courteous and attentive. The room & bathroom were both clean - no funky smells. Snuggled into comfy bed and pillows. Amazing food again - Breakfast is in their restaurant beautifully laid out with real china, silverware, and juice glasses (no plastic here) serving eggs (cheese & salsa available) bacon, sausage, potatoes, little pancakes with a big pile of whipped butter plus all the regular items waffle maker, breads, cereal, yogurt, fruit, etc. We travel 3 weeks a month and stay in hotels around or below $100. This hotel was way out of my expected zone for the price. This was our 2nd stay and will definitely stay again when passing through.
We have been making a trip to Iowa almost every year since 1991. We always make sure we stay at least one night at the Steeplegate. This is by far the best Best Western we have ever stayed at. The breakfast buffet is freshly made since they also have a restaurant that serves breakfast. In addition to the restaurant on the premises they also have a lounge/bar that can accommodate late arrivals after the restaurant closes. They have a nice atrium and courtyard where you can visit with a large group. The facilities are exceptional and it is easy to get in and out of.
Great staff, clean hotel, nice pool, incredible breakfast just to name a few. Breakfast had scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy, fresh waffles, fruit, as well as oj, coffee, and water. Staff took care of what you needed with a smile.
Nice clean room with good hot shower pressure. Breakfast bar was hot with eggs sausage bacon fruit lots of other stuff. Room had a fridge and microwave. Coogee 25/7. Would definitely recommend this place. Go cart track next door and pool for kids
We stayed there for the first time over the weekend. My son had a soccer tournament. The staff was very friendly, the rooms were very clean and the food was delicious! Will definitely be returning again!
All our experiences here are best described as bizarre. Right from the beginning, this is not an easy place to find nor is it well signed. The internet connection was wonky, the toilet flapper did not seat properly so it kept running, there was an engine perhaps a generator running from 12:30 to 1:30 and my messages light came on at 3:30 and woke me up. The message was from some business and I had to call the front desk to find out how to stop it from blinking. On the bright side, the breakfast buffet was above average as it had french toast.
Stay was comfortable. Room was clean and quiet. Breakfast was excellent with a good spread including eggs, potatoes, bacon, sausage, and waffles. I stay here often and it provides a good value for the price. In addition, there is a lounge and bar on sight which is very convenient.
Not worth the money. This is a much older hotel. Upon entering the hotel, it had a smell of stale cigarette smoke. Our room had a musky smell to it. There was water stains all over the ceiling, it was very noisy and we had very little water pressure during our entire stay. Also the toilet ran constantly. In my opinion, it's not worth what they are asking per night. You can find newer/cleaner 3 star hotels and even some 2 star hotels for this same price all day long.
last min. decision to pull over during a snow storm and so glad we did. The min. you walk in the door you are met with wondeful staff. Once we got in our room we got a phone call making sure our room was ok, when asked if I could pick up an extra blanket it was delivered to my door before I even made it out the door. The restaurant food was amazing! the bartender was efficient and had a great personality! sofa bed was actually comfortable, which we were not expecting as we had stayed at the embassy suites in Chicago and the sofa bed was all springs. Hot breakfast in the morning was delicious! If we are ever in the area again we will be definetly be staying here
The restaurant was good, but the television in the room continuously cut out. I called the front desk several times to get help, but they were unwilling to help with the problem and said it was 'normal'.
Amazing staff throughout this hotel, clean rooms, nice bar/restraunt, great breakfast. Gabby, Tony, Kristin and other staff will make your stay pleasant and even entertaining. Your in good hands here.
An excellent package - a 4 course meal on New Year's Eve, a wonderful room with a microwave and fridge, dancing to a great band, a champagne toast at midnight, and a fantastic buffet breakfast. We really enjoyed the entire experience.
This hotel is always a great stay, The staff are friendly and the room is always nice. The restaurant is great and the staff who deliver room service are professional. The only issue was with the pool area and the breakfast. There were children engaging in horseplay (splashing and generally being unruly). The breakfast items are just so so. They are nothing special.
I lived in Davenport for nearly 10 years but did not know about this hotel. I was visiting for work, and the hotel was one of several recommended by my company. The staff members were very friendly and helpful. There was a huge snow storm that night, and I witnessed the staff going the extra mile for many guests - some who had to pull off the road for an unplanned stay. Room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. I was a little confused with the layout and did not realize there is an elevator, so I lugged my giant suitcase up to the 2nd floor. Would have found the elevator easily if I had asked or looked a little harder. Great location convenient to I-74 and I-80. I did not have breakfast at the hotel because I had to leave at 4am, so I can't comment on breakfast. Checkout was quick and easy.
In town for a funeral. Hotel served its purpose for a good night's sleep. Quiet. Comfortable beds. Decent breakfast. No issues. It was nice of them to honor a reduced bereavement rate. Small glitch but nothing major......a dirty washcloth was left hanging on the shower rod.
Very clean, quiet, modern motel. Checked in late and young woman who checked us in was polite and efficient. Very patient even though she had to handle several things at once.Close to I-80, take Brady St. Exit south, turn right, to frontage road, small sign points to Best Western. Room and hotel was very clean. Free hot breakfast was provided.
This Best Western is one of my favorite hotels of all time, especially locally. The breakfast is the absolute best of any continental breakfast I've ever had. The staff genuinely cares for their customers and clients. The pool and hot tub are in an extremely wide open and comfortable environment I'll keep coming back.
Nice play to stay and food in bar is very good and breakfast is excellent. Also a great place to stay if you have a semi truck that requires a lot of space to park they have special spot in the back for trucks.
Recently my wife and I booked a room at the Best Western Plus Steeplegate Inn. We had been travelling the previous day with my band and my wife and I were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary that weekend. My wife was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and since we were expecting a lot of medical bills we booked at the the Best Western because the were fairly cheap and offered a King Room with Jacuzzi tub which would help with my back after carrying band gear for 2 days.. We booked the room directly with the Best Western website to avoid any issues with getting the room we wanted through a 3rd party. We arrived at 5pm that evening to check in and after asking the front desk clerk if they offered a military discount (it was not an option on the Best Western website) I was told that they could not offer a discount because we booked through a 3rd party (the 3rd party was the Best Western website). When I asked what room he had just put me in he said it was a king room but that they did not have a king with a jacuzzi tub available. The on duty manager came out from her office and told me that they could not tell what room I had booked because we went through a 3rd party (her first lie). I told her I booked through Best Westerns website in order to avoid this problem and she said I should have called directly to the front desk if we wanted the room we booked. I immediately asked for a refund and checked out and found a reputable hotel to stay in that evening. On my way to the new hotel I called Best Western corporate to file a complaint, after contacting the local hotel the agent agreed that they staff had failed to properly hold the room we had booked. I was told that I would receive a call back from the corporate office, that was 3 weeks ago and I have not heard from them. The manager at the Best Western did call me the next day and said that she was sorry with how rudely we were treated and said that the "was not the way they do business", I explained that the manager the evening before was very explicit in the fact that any corporate or third party booking would not be honored if someone walked in and wanted the room first and that was exactly how she "did business". She offered a free stay but I am not planning on going back to the area any time soon and I will never stay at that or any Best Western again.
we were on the part closest to the highway, and did not hear anything. You might need a map, or always go the same way, because you could tend to get lost with the different hallways spiking off from the pool. We did, but just made a joke of it, but I also had the room number wrong. It is a nice hotel, and would be a nice place for a group, because there is a nice inside pool area with TV's Pool table and games for kids to play. The carpet in the room was new, so I think they are doing some upgrading. The breakfast had good choices and was served in the restaurant attached to the hotel. Our room had a walk in shower with a little lip.
Our first night out on the Mississippi Riverboat cruise. We were met by one of the staff's who directed us to our room. Because we have limitations we had requested first floor rooms and we got them. Hot breakfast the next morning was very good but "tea" was NOT offered in the tea bags. Very disappointed since I am not a coffee drinker. But the room was clean and very comfortable.
Very clean..exceptional personnel..polite..caring...helpful. we absolutely enjoyed our stay. The restaurant was very clean. Food was fantastic. Nice variety. Food was hot and service excellent. We will be coming back!!!
This hotel was the cleanest and best kept hotel I have stayed at. Outside, lobby, atrium, lounge, room, breakfast area were all great looking. Very friendly helpful staff. I will definitely use this hotel again when in the area
The room was nice and clean. The hotel has a weird layout. Pool and courtyard were nice. I really liked a good buffet breakfast with biscuits and gravy and eggs and other decent foods. Not high quality but better than most hotels. On a long frontage road. Would stay there again.
We do not frequent Best Western, but this hotel was convenient to access the Riverboat Twilight. We were pleasantly surprised. The room was clean, huge and very comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful. The indoor pool and Jacuzzi were a nice amenity. We had a delicious dinner in the restaurant at the hotel. I would highly recommend!
Facility has been updated nicely. Extremely comfortable bed! Lots a green space and landscaping around building. Has a good restaurant and breakfast was outstanding! Room was very spacious. Very good value for the price.
We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. Everything was clean and beautiful. The staff us amazing and the hotel is gorgeous. They finally put in an elevator which makes lugging suitcases much easier! My only issue was the mattress in our room was horrible.
We stopped here for one night. We wanted to stay in LeClaire IA but the hotel rates are very high for all you get. 15 minutes away was Davenport so we searched and found the BW. Very pleasant check in. Room was very nice and we consider it a cut above. The bedding was an 8-9 out of 10 for comfort. The room is fully equipped and spacious and very clean. Like the separate bathroom with toilet, sink and shower room with another sink outside of it. Room was very quiet. It was a Saturday and there were a couple different reception/parties going on in banquet rooms with loud music but we would have never known. The breakfast was also a cut above (actually 2 or 3 cuts above what you normally get. Very nice hotel and reasonable priced for what you get.
Clean and comfortable. What makes this a good location is that there is a restaurant and a bar on the property. I would recommend this property to those looking for a pit-stop on your next road trip! Jameson
Convenient location near the highway though my room was very quiet. Excellent free breakfast served in an actual restaurant so regular plates and silverware, not the usual paper plates. Sausage, waffle maker, fresh cut up fruit, scrambled eggs and various rolls, bread, bagels, etc. I would stay here again.
My son's wedding and reception were held here. The food, service, rooms, amenities and the staff were all wonderful! We couldn't have asked for a better experience. The wedding rehearsal and wedding itself were outside in the courtyard. The rehearsal dinner was excellent, as well as the reception appetizers, meals and service.
The rooms are clean and comfortable. Not outdated. The staff is friendly and helpful. Took care of my needs quickly. Best breakfast of any hotel I've stayed at. Nice pool and hot tub. A few extra turns to get there because tucked away on a dead end road but that makes it quieter than most near any highway system. Great value!!!!
I was on the road, needed a place between Chicago and Omaha, picked Davenport. I usually check on BestWestern hotels before I price any others. This location was within my range; I booked one person-one night, and left Chicago. I arrived about 7:30 p.m., and needed supper. The check-in person was very pleasant, took care of my check-in expeditiously, and when I asked about getting some supper, she pointed out that the bar/bistro was open and I headed there after I got my stuff into my room. Since this was Iowa, I ordered a dinner steak, and it was exceptional! The price was reasonable. The next morning, I skipped the complementary breakfast in favor a longer sleep. Having checked out, again with excellent counter service, I asked about getting my breakfast at the in-house restaurant. It was already open for lunch, so I went in and made myself at home. The waiter did not balk when, after he presented me with the lunch menu, I asked him whether the kitchen was the same as had prepared my supper the night before. He assured me that it was, and, without consulting the lunch menu, I asked whether the chef would be willing to make me steak and eggs. He made several trips back to the kitchen to convey my request for eggs sunny-side up, for whole wheat toast, and for a side of skillet potatoes. The service was exceptional! That's the story, nothing out of the ordinary except for the most accommodating staff, and great meals. If you are heading west on I-80 out of Illinois, make sure you set your GPS for this BestWestern because getting onto the service road to access the hotel takes a few acts of faith.
Great staff, clean, nice rooms. Bar and restaurant are well above average. Swift check in. Very understanding. In room hot tub we had was excellent. Close proximity to go kart place next store is alwasy a bonus!
We had no idea what to expect from this hotel, as we had chosen a new route for a particular trip we often take in the summer. We were immediately and pleasantly surprised. Everything worked very well, the bathroom was appropriately equipped for a handicapped person, and the bar/lounge/restaurant was good enough that we are still talking about it two weeks later.
Davenport Iowa is just about half way between the Pacific and Atlantic oceans, on highway 80. These huge complex incudes a heated indoor swimming pool, excellent breakfast room and in-house dinner restaurant. They've got a 10 oz steak that is to die for. Extremely friendly staff. If your traveling across country and don't stop here for a day or more, then you have truly missed out on one of the best things to do on your bucket list.
We stayed here for one night. The room was large and had a mini fridge, microwave & coffee maker. Did like that they had 2 separate sinks and vanity areas. But the room smelled old and musty. We had to open our outside windows to get some fresh air in. They did have a nice looking indoor pool. Nice fitness room with free weights, treadmill, elliptical and an exercise bike. Breakfast was okay. Several hot food choices but not a lot of healthy choices.
We stopped here on our vacation. The staff was friendly and helpful. The have a bar/restaurant which was also a plus for us. I had the grouper and it was delicious. Our room was spacious and clean. The pool/ hot tub area was also very clean and well maintained. Very lovely hotel!!
The place was clean and everyone was very polite. We had a room by the indoor pool. Not too noisy at all. We had 17 hungry boys each morning and they all had plenty to eat. Front desk and room cleaning people were outstanding.
We had a little trouble finding the hotel. You could see it and the sign from the highway but then you had to go down a side street and then the frontage road to get to it. Once we found it, our room was great. The room and the bathroom were big, clean, newer, with lots of storage and plenty of outlets. The bed was big and comfy and the water pressure was great. We didnt have time for the pool but the area looked clean. Breakfast was at the restaraunt so there was plenty of room for everyone and the food was good. What I liked best about our room was that the air ducts were up high and the air conditioner didnt blow on your bed like most hotels.
The staff, breakfast, pool, restaurant, common area were all excellent! However, the room was old, dingy, and the bed was horrible and old, hard mattress, hard to get comfortable. There's a big disconnect between the overall quality of the hotel and the room quality. The staff were very nice and helpful in every way. The restaurant was top quality. The pool & hot tub were great, almost as good as a 5 star hotel. However, the WiFi was slow and inconsistent., and the room quality was a 2 or 3.
Customer service was Great!! The hotel was very clean. 2 restaurants on site. Best food I had all week. The pool was very clean. The room was very comfortable. This will be are go to hotel on vacation every year.
The wedding venues and reception area were very nice and very spacious for the events. I felt the bathroom in the room was a bit small. My only other complaint was that I was charged a different price then what was stated originally.
I'll keep it short but sweet! This hotel is amazing. The atrium, the pool, hot tub, The employees, the beds, the decor, the atmosphere!!!! But most of all the breakfast!!! I was thoroughly impressed.. Let me not fail to mention the bar and all u can eat fish fry!! I'll def be back!!!! Keep up the great work!!!
I stayed at the Best Western Plus Steeplegate Inn for a work trip. The rooms were nice and big. The bed was very comfy.. The room and bathroom were very clean. I would recommend this hotel if you are in the area.
We stopped for the night while on a cross country drive from Kentucky to Seattle, WA. I called the front desk and a very helpful individual got me set up with exactly what we needed. The room was spacious, with two queen beds. There were two sinks, one in the bathroom, and another just outside the bathroom with an accompanying wide shelf making a perfect dressing table for my wife. The room was very quiet, and the beds very comfortable. We both got a very restful sleep. The restaurant had great food. The service was a little slow, but they were short one individual, so the waitress was working hard to cover all areas. The included breakfast was a buffet that was very good.
My family and I stayed here a few years ago and loved it but a few little things disappointed this visit. How is it that a room with a pool view has a window to the outside and not one facing the indoors towards the pool. The only way I can view the pool is through a peep hole in the door. I paid extra just to have that view because I would like to be able to keep an eye on my 2 children if I have to run back to the room for something. I also found carpet staples sticking out right next to the bathroom. Luckily, I didn't find them the hard way...ouch!.
I booked a room on the BW website about an hour before I was to arrive. The transaction went smoothly. Upon arrival, I was cheerfully greeted by the front desk clerk and was assigned a room with a king bed on the second floor. I had some heavy gear to bring into my room for the night so that was a chore as the hotel did not have an elevator at the time. However, in their defense, they were in the middle of installing one during my stay. The facility has a beautiful atrium area with a pool and a hot tub as well as an outdoor courtyard. There are also 2 restaurants. The room was well appointed, as I expected it to be. The room was also quiet and everything worked. TV, Internet, Hot Shower, Comfortable Bed, etc. This place also boasts an excellent cocktail lounge (1 Hundred West) where I was able to unwind with a few beverages and "walk home". Throughout my travels I've found that in many cases, it's not the way a facility is kept or looks that makes for a wonderful experience but rather it's the people that make for a wonderful experience. And this bar was no exception. The bartender, Tony was one of the most hospitable bartenders I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. To put it simply - He makes that place the friendliest place around. In the morning I treated myself to their complimentary full breakfast, complete with eggs, bacon, sausage, waffle, juices, fruit, etc. It was a full breakfast and everything tasted fine. Check out was as simple and quick. All you had to do was leave. Like I stated in the title, I wish I Could Have Stayed Longer.
The pool area is large and offers space for families/friends to gather. The restaurant was average at best but the location allows for you to leave and grab food from just about anywhere. The staff was helpful and polite.
Great pool area. Super nice staff. Great breakfast offered. Enjoyed our stay here. Ok....I am willing to do your little survey but you are not going to tell me I HAVE to write a 200 word review!! This is ridiculous. I cannot get out of this page until I type 200 words? There...that is now OVER 200 words. ??
This is a hotel that has been around for a long time, so it might be easy to assume it would be dated or a bit run down. It is neither! All interior areas have been tastefully updated & seem quite fresh, clean, & new!
A nice quiet hotel. It is a few blocks off the main drag providing some quiet. The rooms were nice size and very clean. The breakfast was a good size buffet with plenty of tables which is something a lot of places lack. The breakfast ended relatively early for a Sunday at 930am and they (politely) move you out right at 930 so be warned be on time or miss out. The hotel is right in the middle of Davenport and you are just minutes away from casinos, highways and lots of food choices. We did use the pool which was very nice. Lots of kids who didn't seem very well chaperoned (at least in my parental opinion), not the hotel's responsibility. They do have a sign said they had an adults only hour of swimming.
Stayed here for one night while in town. I got a king bed room and it was exceptionally large. It had a mini fridge and was clean. The hotel has a nice pool. Breakfast was included and is at the attached restaurant. It was better than most free breakfasts. Staff was courteous and efficient. Overall the hotel was nicer then expected. I would stay here again. I love Best Western as their points don't expire and they usually have included breakfasts. Prices are a better value then most hotels in my opinion.
We had a wonderful stay! The staff were friendly and helpful! The room was clean! Breakfast was great! We plan on staying there again next year! We highly recommend this hotel! Pool and hot tub too!!!
I'll go ahead and label this as the "Best" Best Western that I have been to because for one, it was for me, and I don't exclusively go to Best Westerns. Until I find a fancier one, this will go down as the best one. The hotel has plenty of amenities which include a decent fitness center, a bar and grille, an indoor pool and hot tub, and the best free breakfast that you'll get just about anywhere. The WiFi could've been a little faster, but it wasn't bad for being free(some hotels have horrendous WiFi that is slower than the internet of the 90's). If you are in the Quad-Cities area and need a good place to stay, then don't hesitate with the "Best" Best Western. Boom!
The accommodations were excellent but when I asked for a senior citizens discounts was given the rate that I had seen online when trying to find somewhere to get off the highways due to the weather and getting dark. Didn't want to disappoint the kids who were tired from traveling and wanted to relax in the pool so didn't argue. However, when we arrived home this evening I checked my credit card transaction and was charged $30 + what the invoice showed. I immediately called and the desk clerk said that was policy and the funds would be released in 7 to 10 days. However, my concern is that she told me 15 percent and it was almost 25 percent added charge. I have stayed in hotels/motels in many, many states over the years and NEVER had an added charge over and above the invoice that they gave me upon check out. I have looked on the invoice and nothing is mentioned about that policy and I feel it is unethical and not appropriate to charge my credit card for anymore than I signed my signature.
The place even while remodeling was a pleasure from staff room bar restaurant and amenities well worth the price. Will definitely prefer to stay at best western hotels again in the future on my business trips
Pool always closed on sundays? Not sure if they just dont wanna deal with it or what but this is the 3rd time this has happend in the past year or so. Front desk was not clear on discount they offerd .
very clean modern hotel , great food selection . good bed .towels and sheets very clean , everyone we met seemed happy and upbeat . pool area was keep clean and very usable . . cant say enough good things about this place . thank you
Staff was very nice, rooms very comfortable and clean. Loved the pool area, great for family get together stays! Breakfast was delicious and server very helpful and kind! Would recommend to anyone to stay here!
We stayed here because we wanted to participate in their New Years Party that they have every year...We were very pleased w/ everything... the party favors, the alcohol, the band & the Dj...As for our rooms, we had a joining room w/another couple & they found a container of ice cream in their frig/freezer & in our room there was a dogs chew bone left in plain sight by our sink area. Not a big deal by any means, but come on...Housekeeping was def slacking.
It seems it's always a hard decision to make, when you actually give someone your card number, to reserve a hotel you have never been in. But , to much relief, it was great place to stay . Traveling 40 hr driving time vacations to and from... with 2 kids and two small shitzu's it was nice to find a place that doesn't charge major fees to have your fur babies with you and still be a really nice place to stay. Beds and bathrooms clean! Floors were the only reason why I put a negative rating, but I imagine not everyone is as clean with their animals as me, there were a couple stains ( due to previous animals). Other than that everything was great! Great breakfast as well! Polite and nice people:) we will automatically stay here next go around!
We stayed for our anniversary December 28-29. The king size room overlooked the pool/atrium. The room size exceeded the space we needed and I would almost say it was too big. The tv felt far away! We had easy access to the pool and hot tub, but our room location also lent itself to the smell of chlorine and noise from late night groups in the atrium. I would recommend requesting a room in a different location to avoid noise. We used the bar and received good service. The bed was also very comfortable. The location is a bit of a bummer. I have read reviews that express it feeling unsafe. I do not believe this is the case, it is just out of the way even though it is so close to the interstate.
My wife and I were traveling from Des Moines home after visiting our daughter, and we were looking for a place to stay for New Year's Eve. We had a great time. Overall price of the package was a little high, but we had a great time. I would recommend staying at this hotel. Clean. Great breakfast.
The lady at front desk did an awsum job handling my check in process cuz i was not having any luck with the BW app at the moment. & the night clerk is just as awsum for faxing my lengthy job app to a prospective employer. Thank you BW for hiring such nice & caring people. Bravo! & yes i think they all deserve a pay raise!
I have stayed at this hotel many times and the experience has usually been satisfactory. The people at the front desk are always helpful and courteous. The fitness room is not great but they do have dumbbells, which is a step above most hotels in the category. This particular stay, the WiFi was not operable in my room, due to a very week signal. Also the water pressure in the shower was too low.
Hotel was clean and had everything we needed. Pool and hot tub were clean and temperature of water good. Staff was very pleasant . We enjoyed our stay and felt safe throughout the entire stay. My family and I were pleased with everything and are planning on returning again. I have stayed here in the past as well as some of my family members and we are always satisfied.
This hotel made it a very easy experience to travel with our dog. We would definitely stay here again. Front desk staff was very helpful & accommodating. breakfast buffet & staff were very good. Very nice amenities- pool, fitness center
just a nice place to stay on our trip. clean room comfortable bed.. internet good . excellent breakfast . quiet surroundings bathroom nice. will definitely stay here again staff very nice . i give this place high marks
The Best Western Plus Steeplegate is a great hotel with good service. However, the internet and Direct TV amenities do not work in all rooms. The room decor is outdated. While they are trying to update, some of the updates are still outdated.
I already stated we were happy with all except not having a hot tub to use on Sat. but you had it running Sunday before check-out. Hot breakfast coupons are nice to have, but there was not as much to choose from that my wife and grand kids liked, no pancakes, waffles, grapes, cut fruit, yogurts etc.
We stay here several times a year and they Never Let us down, Great breakfast, Awesome lounge, Tony's the best !!!!, This is far and above the Best Hotel we stay at all year long, and we spent 300 nights this last year in hotels!!, Awesome staff, Awesome Hotel
This is a very nice hotel and easy to get to off of the interstate and near St Ambrose University. Breakfast has a wide variety of food to choice from. Hotel rooms were clean and bathrooms were spacious.
Great service, amenity's, play area, room and beds were comfy, clean and even restaurant and separate bar on site. My only issues (minor) were that the toilet rocked when sitting on it and that the frig was loud, but those are minor when this place is glowing with all the other perks. Will be back!
This was the first time I had stayed at Best Western in many years and I cant say that I will ever stay again. The noise was absolutely ridiculous! I should not be able to hear people splashing in the pool, playing pool or be able to hear people talking clear as day in the hallway. There was no one to greet my daughter and I when we arrived at the restaurant. Light bulbs burned out in the bathroom. The only thing I have nice to say is about the shower. The water pressure was awesome. Very disappointed with the price I had to pay, was NOT even close to being worth it!
Ridiculously bad. There is an atrium area that doesn't shut down till 11:00. We had people banging into our door, beer bottles were breaking and music so loud the water in a glass in the room was vibrating. No concern from the desk. If you want zero rest and a headache this place is perfect. Otherwise avoid at all costs.
We stayed here on a 3-week cross-country junket, and after a long drive we welcomed the peace and quiet. Our room was on the ground floor and easy to access through a side door. The fridge and microwave were in a cabinet rather than a separate kitchenette counter but that was OK as we don't make much use of them. What set this hotel apart though was the breakfast. Not only were the choices excellent, including cut-up fresh fruit and potatoes, (and all the usual American breakfast stuff), but we had real plates and cutlery. Nothing gets to me more than all the plastic, styrofoam and paper plates that you are forced to waste when on the road. This was such a pleasant change, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the hotel to anyone traveling in the area.
We love this hotel but did have a few issues with the door to our room. For some reason, when we got back from being gone for four hours the cleaning lady, who was leaving for the day, said our door was open the whole time we were gone. The front desk was notified, but they had no answer as to why? Nothing was taken. They did give us points towards our next stay.
This was a pleasant surprise for a tired couple and their dachshund. Hotel was clean, Manager friendly, dinner in hotel rest. very good and reasonable. Breakfast was good. All in all, a nice stop. Be sure to call for directions as it is on a service road. You can see the BW but have to make the correct turn in order to access it.
We really enjoyed our visit to Iowa and would recommend it, especially in the fall with the lovely fall colours of the trees. The staff and service was great at Best Western Plus ,Steeplegate Inn. We did have trouble finding it as the blue with white letters, sign said Food and Lodging so it would be great to see a sign that says, Best Western Plus Steeplegate , which would make it easier to find. overall, we had a great time.
Staff great. Rooms clean and comfortable. Never disappointed with BW. Love being a diamond member with all the perks. When Im traveling I always look for the BW in the horizon. I know I will have a great stay.
Best Western in Davenport, Iowa has all you need for pleasant stay-nice rooms, pool with handicap lifts, restaurant , lovely breakfast, and friendly staff plus atrium area for friends and family to visit and snack together . They even passed out glow sticks to everyone during a storm and power outage.
Great room, perfect layout, well kept, and quiet! Recent renovation or just in great shape. The breakfast was the best motel offering we have ever had. Warm, fresh and nice location. Would stay here again! Great indoor pool and gathering area.
Made reservations a year ago for 3 nights, some of women staff knew about, the new guy was rude and hard to deal with (14 of us told all first floor rooms together, all but one after dealing with rude guy to manager got 1st floor. Large lobby with chairs for all of us to meet to go to dinner/talk, large area around pool with tables we put together for snacks and wine before and after. Staff set aside part of bar for us which we used first night (a couple of nights they had specials) we had a burger and a beer for $6. Breakfast was usually our group putting tables together but one morning set aside area in restaurant for group. All of rest of staff friendly. Large rooms. Nice pool and hot tub, and a pool table.
We stayed at this property for 1 night. It was very beautiful and we were very surprised when we arrived. The gal at the front desk was very pleasant and informative as to the ammenities and where our room was located. We ordered room service and it was prompt and absolutely delicious. We would, and will be staying here again.
Our room was supposed to be smoke free, but it reeked from stale smoke. Others in our group had the same problem. Also, we had reserved rooms a year in advance for a first-cousins reunion (which in this case meant older folks), requesting first floor and together. We ended up with a couple on second floor and the motel does not have an elevator. Personnel at desk were very rude in handling this situation.
We blocked rooms for our wedding. We got a suite for our wedding night. Our guests commented over and over again how nice the hotel was, how impressed they were with it. Breakfast was great! So many options.....something for everyone. The hotel was clean everywhere we went!
Ripped carpet in room, apparent blood on closet door, rusted kleeenex holder in bathroom, black water coming out of bathroom sink when brushing teeth, wireless internet connection kept cutting out. Stayed as a traveling government employee. Will not recommend this hotel to coworkers.
I never reviews but this place was awesome. It was clean & all staff was nice. I would highly recommend. Had a couple drinks at bar with good company. Sleep really well, didn't even hear the trucks leave (and there were a few). Free breakfast buffet was top notch they even had bacon! Really a nice place!
The exterior was recently updated and the outside was nice and clean. Rooms are out dated, dirty, beds are very old & uncomfortable, stains on bedding, furniture, towels, extra force required to ensure my room door latched/locked. The sliding glass door was next to impossible to open, the screen door fell off obviously maintenance is lacking. The position of the TV made it impossible to view from your bed. As a Diamond member, I was NOT acknowledged nor offered a gift or points. The newly updated bar area was very nice and bar staff on top of things, especially Tony. Breakfast was typical for a BW and the breakfast gal working was very sweet. My card which wasn't supposed to be charged was, called hotel was told they would call me back, never happened. I won't be returning....
We enjoyed our time from check in to dinner, and from dinner to check out, the service was wonderful. The Steeplegate Inn has a great open area to gather by the pool. This area was large enough that multiple groups could gather without bothering each other. We really loved the open court yard area. Although we did not have a chance to this court yard would have been a nice place to gather as a group in the afternoon. The room was nice. We really enjoyed dual bathrooms and setting area inside the room. We had dinner in the hotel. Dinner was a great value. My wife and I both enjoy the dinner and the price was very reasonable.
Staff committed to excellence, great service, delicious breakfast, and rooms nicely decorated. Check-in is always a pleasant experience. Large pool and hot tub area with plenty of TV's for watching if just lounging by the pool with friends and family. Beautiful courtyard for small and private weddings. We stay here every weekend May - thru October for business, they are like extended family. Highly recommended for vacation or business.
Very difficult to locate. Directions from BW online not correct. Very frustrating experience. Desk clerk helpful with guiding me to the hotel. No luggage rack available on checkin- staff unable to locate but did not call back to the desk. I stood around waiting and the clerk finally called to check-poor communication between staff. Room good but experience left a bad tast in my mouth. Would not return.
We stayed here about 6 years ago for an event and liked the hotel and the location right off of I-80. When we decided to stop in the area, I immediately booked this hotel again. The pool has lots of kids so that was not for me. I usually like to swim either at night or in the AM but decided to forgo it this trip because the pool was too busy. They might need to set aside a half hour or hour for adults only!
The people working are very friendly and helpful i enjoy staying there every time they make you feel like if you were a home and is close to town if you like to go chopping or just to dine out or have a drink.
Upon check in, they gave me a higher price than I was quoted when I booked the room. It was adjusted when I brought it to there attention. Our room was next to a storage room and was quite noisy while trying to sleep ( possible stacking of chairs). The room wasn't the cleanest. Also, the smallest hot tub I've ever seen ( max of 5 people). Looked like a kiddie pool. Lastly, the breakfast wasn't what the website showed and the cheese was spoiled. Not the best experience.
We stopped here for a quick stop taking my daughter back to school in Ohio. Great hotel. Nice pool area. Clean. Great hot breakfast. Great location right off freeway. Reasonable price. Would definately stay again.
Rooms have a homey feel and are quite large. Having only one chair my husband was relegated to the desk chair. Breakfast was standard and does the job. Restaurant is horrible including food but mostly service. Will not eat there again.
We stayed at the Steeplegate Inn during a road trip and found it it be a comfy place to stay. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The hotel has a quaint ambiance and is located centrally with some great restaurants nearby. The rooms are well maintained. I would particularly recommend it for families with young children.
Booked this in a hurry when I had to make schedule changes in the midst of combination business trip/vacation. I picked Davenport as a halfway point to split a long drive, this place was priced and rated OK and was by an I-80 interchange, those were the big factors, wasn't looking for atmosphere like the B&Bs we booked for some other stops on our trip. However, the staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful, room and facility was very clean, they go the extra mile with the free breakfast. Only minus was having an ice machine near my room that was noisy either when it dumped ice or maybe it was people loading a cooler, but that didn't keep me awake. No noise leaking from other rooms.
Check in was a breeze staff was friendly. They have a nice restaurant and lounge on the property. The room was very comfortable and clean. The property is located at the end of a service road. It was quiet with light traffic in a he evening.
This hotel is larger than I thought. We were on our way back from Sturgis, S.D. for the Motorcycle Rally. We always stay at all the Best Westerns due to we are Platnium H-D card holders. Hotel large, room large, comfortable, large atrium in the center, all enclosed with a indoor pool, which we did not have suits to indulge in. arcade games, soda machines. our room very big with large fridge, sink, HD TV, and wonderful comfy bed! quiet, lots of parking. Breakfast is included, except on Sunday. Buffet style, but you eat on plates, not paper, anything , eggs, potatoes, sausage, bacon, u name it. it was there!, even silverware, Very impressive. A very nice woman, comes around to pick up your plates, and a chef, makes sure everything is hot and filled, no waiting for anything. Comfort awaits here, this has to be one of the nicest BW we have been at. and we stay at a lot of them! Check out a breeze. Lots of parking. Room was huge! Thanks!
Convenient to Interstate. Long day and we needed someplace to stop. Room was clean. Shows some age. We were in the back on second floor. Quiet! Lots of business traffic. Trucks parked overnight. Breakfast was good and hostess very attentive. A bit pricey. Not a bad stay overall but nothing really special.
Excellent staff and facilities. A little out of the way to get to from main street but worth it. Nice to get up in the morning, walk down to the grill and have breakfast before going to work every morning. Delicious and saved time.
You can't miss the life-sized poster beside the check-in counter promoting that this motel comes with a wedding planner. Come again? I happen to be a fan of most Best Westerns, but for a night, not a forever event. This is either a very special place or one with some very misplaced illusions about itself. It does have a kind of attractive curb appeal, sort of like a suburban clubhouse, and that horsey sounding name. But it turns out: something of both is going on. Unlike most other reviews, it has actually taken me several weeks since that stay to try and figure that one out. The first is: like many weddings, you really do hope it is everything they wish and promise it to be. The first impression always begins at that check-in desk and the young man in charge couldn't have been more helpful: actually drew a map to his father's favorite service station in nearby upscale Bettendorf (his dad drives a BMW). I wonder where he got married. But from there on in, the Steeplegate is a place, like too many weddings, of outsized dreams, beginning with its own outsize. Driving to locate my room, I actually thought I had crossed into a condominium instead: an alphabet soup of entrances to a sprawling building that is shaped like a red-brick Pentagon. The hallways are just as confusing, where Major Generals could get lost. The maze leads to a chorine-scented center of fumes from an atrium pool. Buckets are in place to catch the spill from a leaking roof; it looks like they've done this drill before. Make a note: no wedding party here. The rooms are as spacious as small studio apartments, but they're a bit wilted and there is that undeniable odor of industrial strength air freshener. When you can locate them, some of the ice machines are out of order and the small gym is a junkyard of tired machines. Still, you keep hoping that something good will come from all this: unlike many BW's, there are not one but two restaurants (one of them a casual sports bar) and room service, too. The morning breakfast service is hearty (this is still Iowa, after all), but the tables are sticky and there is a fly on the window. P.S. But the energetic staff is, like the guy at the front desk, friendly and eager to please (this is still Iowa, after all). Like a lot of weddings, you really end up rooting for this place to become as wonderful as it wishes it were. I'm not sure if I would return, but sometimes you think it might be better if this couple would just elope.
The building was full of screaming drunks, making it impossible to sleep. My bill was grossly inflated, and the staff appeared neither surprised or concerned. Wasted 30 minuted getting it correct at check out.
You will pass this hotel as you come off the interstate, 1st lite go rite and rite again behind the gas station and you come right to it. They have an area just past the main entrance for big rigs - easy to park. Check in was easy and quick with the very friendly staff. My room was spacious with a nice work area. The chair was missing a wheel but that's my only complaint. The hotel was clean. My bed was very comfortable and the room quiet and dark. Shower was hot and good pressure. They had a nice gym and an awesome indoor heated pool and spa area. Breakfast was an awesome hot, well laid out buffet. Great hotel, good price and I will stay again next time I'm in the area.
Front desk staff is great. Romero is fantastic. Maid service is good. Rooms are very clean and pool area is large and great to hang out in. Breakfast in the morning is great. Overall would recommend this hotel to everyone.
This hotel is close to the freeway but it is a little round-a-bout to get to. It is worth the trouble to get there. The people are friendly and helpful and the breakfast buffet is cooked and laid out by the restaurant chef. Real food, real good!
This was by far the best motel/hotel stay that we've had in many years. We felt like we were VIP's in a big city hotel! The room was clean and bright and very spacious, and everything was perfect! I don't know when the last time that I could say that about a motel stay. There is usually something... Breakfast was included, served in the same restaurant in which we had a wonderful meal the evening before, and offered a great selection including fresh fruit, French toast, eggs, bacon, sausage, you get the idea! We're definitely coming back here when we're in the area again.
My family stayed at this Best Western "Plus" for 2 nights. The outside property and lobby were well maintained, but the rest of the hotel needs a little TLC, more thorough housekeeping. Our room was very dark with a few lamps that were poorly lit, stained carpet, and chair, ottoman, and sitting bench were broken and stained. There was trash on the floor. There is a pool and hot tub. We wanted to play a game of pool, but the pool table was out of order the time we were there. The best thing was their complimentary breakfast, nice presentation. We appreciated the set up- real plates and silverware! not plastic. Food was hot and there were plenty of choices. Plenty of restaurants and stores just a short drive from the hotel.
Hotel & room were clean & up to date. Staff was very friendly & accommodating. We are already planning to stay here on our future trips back. This hotel & St. Ambrose University work together & offer discounts for families which was a good incentive.
I highly recommend this hotel. The rooms were clean, the pool was warm, and the service was great. We had a pool view "suite", which worked well for having small children. The rooms were big enough to sleep two of our four children on the floor, so we were thankful for that!
Got this at a good rate. Hotel decor and bathrooms are dated, room was just okay. It was clean, but nothing special. Room smelled as if they keep trying to shampoo the old smoking smell out. Staff there are super nice. Breakfast buffet was okay, wish they had more gluten free options and a bit more variety of juices.
Very disappointing; no elevator to 2nd floor (which no one mentioned when we made the reservation), very noisy in pool area, can't visit, room had visible soil on carpet along with items left behind by previous visitors. There was glitter and a pair of shoes next to the bed. Not clean at all.
We had a nice stay at this hotel. The breakfast was very nice and tasteful. The service was really good. The value for the money was good. The sleep quality was good and really a quiet place to put your head on the pillow. The entire hotel was really clean and the room cleanliness was really good. The location of this hotel is right off the Interstate 80 and really close to downtown restaurants. I would recommend this hotel as you are passing through Iowa.
This is a very nice hotel with an indoor pool. It is pet friendly. There is a restaurant and bar attached to the hotel. The hotel is older, but very clean and well kept. Very friendly and helpful staff.
I've stay at this Hotel many times. I've always had a great room with excellent service each and every time, too. One of the nicest Hotel's on our way to Montana. The set down Breakfast is far better than most and so ios the quality.
We originally picked this hotel because it had the cheapest king suite we could find for our vacation, and we didn't mind having to put in more of a drive for the casinos, riverfront, or other things. It ended up being an excellent choice! The room was very clean, set up nicely, and very large. It was a nice bonus that the in house restaurant did a breakfast buffet that a voucher was provided for. The restaurant was also very nice for lunch or dinner when we didn't feel like going out, with decent prices for good food. We got room service one night and they were very prompt and courteous. The staff was all very friendly, the pool area was well maintained and clean, as were the other facilities. There is also a bar/lounge that is open at night, though we didn't get a chance to check this out. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay here again when we come back to Davenport.
Everything about our stay at the BW Plus Steeplegate Inn was superb! Upon arrival you will be greeted with professional, friendly customer service. We ate all of our meals from their on-site restaurant. All meals were very delicious with excellent service. The menu had great choices with reasonable prices. No need to go anywhere else to eat! Our room was spacious, very comfortable bed, quiet and "clean". We will definitely be staying at the BW Plus Steeplegate Inn again when we visit the Quad Cities. We recommend this hotel which has everything you need for a quiet get-away from everything. They pamper you
Went to visit family and had an emergency back home had to leave early and they were very understanding and even gave me a little off. Pretty nice when I was expecting nothing. The breakfast was amazing. The staff was helpful. The beds were comfy and rooms very accommodating. We will be back!
EVERYTHING about this hotel is TOP NOTCH. The facilities are exceptional, and the staff is friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The room was neat and clean. Beds were comfortable. What's not to like? We will stay here again whenever we are in this area.
One of the tables was filthy with sticky pop residue. It had to be scrubbed to make the table useable. When I found trash under the clean plastic bag in the ice cooler, that made us really queasy. The spider in the shower was scary too. All over a bad experience.
Great place to stay, with an excellent staff who are professional and friendly with the goal of exceeding expectations. Our family chose this place to host a wedding reception and everything was flawless. The FREE breakfast is top notch and way beyond average!
This hotel is 30 years old but still clean and kept nice. Several meeting events were going on here during the day. But breakfast is where the real value is – which I will get to in the next paragraph. The room heating system is not at the window like usual but is toward the bathroom inside the room closer to the door. This allowed a furniture placement change that I prefer, which is to have a table right by the window and two chairs on either side for easy daylight at reading. The standard usual heater air conditioner was not in the way. The hotel was built with a center atrium where all the rooms branch off in several directions. The atrium contains the indoor pool and a large gathering place very much like the outlaw inn in Rocksprings, Wyoming. The room itself was certainly up to par but not outstanding such as Lincoln. Bathroom area has 2 sinks, 1 inside the toilet area and one just outside. That extra sink could be useful for a family. The bathroom area was adequate. This room was very quiet. New carpets. We stayed on the second floor which is the top floor. In the morning the pool was full of families and kids also playing at the pool table in the atrium. The pool attendant was folding towels after the families left from swimming. Breakfast is where they really started to add value. Had I known this I would not have worried about the price last night. This breakfast quality was on par with Dunmar Inn in Evanston, Wyoming, where my son really liked the hot chocolate in the included ultimate made to order restaurant. Steeplegate breakfast also has a full-service restaurant, but they have a breakfast buffet. The food is not just heated up in the microwave in the back. The, breakfast manager, a friendly Asian lady, told me how they made the food so much nicer. The potatoes are baked in the back and a cut up and deep-fried. The bacon is not microwaved but baked the night before where the grease is allowed to drain off so that the bacon is crispy. The scrambled eggs still come from a bag but they are traditionally cooked and are light and fluffy. The sausages are carefully cooked. French toast was done in the traditional way as well. If you come here for Sunday brunch, the gravy for the biscuits and gravy is made from scratch where the sausage is cut up and carefully cooked. 200 people usually show up according to the lady. The service was catering style with big silver platters and covers. We ate on porcelain plates instead of styrofoam and had real silverware instead of plastic. Come earlier to enjoy the breakfast. At precisely 9:30, five people dressed in black came in with carts and took away breakfast including the tables. Apparently, according to the lady manager, the hotel contracts out the in house restaurant and bar to someone who knows what they're doing. Bravo! The biggest change they need to make is to be able to describe their breakfast at check-in so that people really understand the value they're getting for breakfast and not just a microwave continental thing. That burden should be on the hotel check-in attendant to sell the value the breakfast – or simply have a customer like me tell you. Bottom Line: I would stay here again just for the breakfast.
We came for a concert. We arrived to town late due to the amount of construction on the interstate. When we entered the room there was a towel sitting on the counter which had hair in it. The room also smelled of smoke. We asking for a nonsmoking room. If we would have had time before the concert, we would have gone to a different hotel.
If life takes you near Davenport, Iowa I would recommend the Best Western/Steeple Gate Inn. Clean, efficient, comfortable and easy to do business with. They had pool area and exercise equipment. Food and service in the restaurant was very good. All the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful.
Have always had very good service here. The people take good care and are vet accommodating. The restaurant has consistently good food and I love the Bloody Marys. The breakfast in the mornings has a nice assortment and they keep it full.
We payed the most for this hotel on our IA trip. Sadly, this was the worst property we have stayed at in years. When we came in the entrance near our room, it smelled like someone dumped a bottle of febreze on the carpet rather than cleaning. There was a full garbage can the the center stairwell which smelled like rotting food. The wallpaper in our room was old and not even lined up properly. Behind the toiletry basket on the bathroom counter was black lines. I want an inn bathroom to look better than mine at home, not worse. The fitted sheets pulled off the bed when we lay down and we could not keep them on while we were in bed. One of the drains and some of the bathroom tile were stained. In the pool, there were three birthday parties and no room for guests. At breakfast, the carpet was stained, the juice bitter, and the coffee bad. This property needs work! If we had not been traveling in a new to us city, I would have considered leaving in the night.
I stay here often and the staff is second to none. They always go out of their way to make sure everyone is well taken care of. I am also a rewards member and it is a great program that has a lot of benefits. I travel a lot for work and this is my favorite place to stay by far.
Rooms are in need of updating. But also too many incidents of lack of customer service overall. bad check in, (very late than what was told to us), special request was "forgotten about". housekeeping did not clean and make the bed everyday so we delivered a bag of garbage to the front desk. just too many things that should not have happened. will not be staying here again, and will not recommend either. the only thing that was very very good was the special dinner we had with a spectacular young female server named Kristin! she was just terrific!!!
We were offered a special discount for use during State Bowling Tournament. Staff was helpful; even a minor snafu in emailing a reservation was easily and professionally handled and promptly corrected with no ill effects. Very comfy room; nice decor. Would definitely stay there again.
While this is not a newer property, we found it to be a very nice place to stay. The room was large. The property is well maintained. The free breakfast offered more variety than most chain hotels and was quite good. Will stay here again.
We enjoyed the hotel. The pool is a good size for our three kids to play in, the rooms are nice and roomy, and the brunch option on Sunday was very good. The food was a bit pricey but was right down the hall.
Check in/out was extremely quick and pleasant. Staff was very courteous and helpful. Dining experience was alright. Servers were not very experienced. Housekeeping was thorough, but did not pester. Public areas were well maintained.
The rooms were very clean and comfortable. It was quiet and friendly. The staff did everything in their power to make us. Comfortable. We were watched over but allowed to have a good time. There were several reunions but it did not seem crowded.
An excellent motel. It was a little awkward getting to. Would stay there again. Pool area was very nice. I liked the fact that every thing was easily accessible from inside. The restaurant staff was very good and the food was presented well. Breakfast was very good.
My husband and I had to drive from NJ to Omaha for a wedding! It was a last minute need after our flight was cancelled. We had to stop for the night in Davenport, and randomly chose the Best Western Steeplegate Inn. It was an excellent choice! We were in need of a good night's sleep, and we got it! The breakfast was a great start to our day!
Stayed here for the Quad Cities Power Plant outage, nearly 3 weeks. The bar/restaurant was great, little pricey on somethings. Hotel rooms nice and large but could use a little fixing up. WiFi was horrible/non-existent. No matter how many times I mentioned the WiFi issue to the front desk I was given the same response, "There was nothing wrong" or "It must be your device." I happened to be at the front desk 1 evening when their tech was finishing up for the day and asked about the internet; I was told that they were working on the issue. A few days later nothing was fixed so I talked to the front desk again about the issue and at that point the manager told me that there was nothing wrong and I needed to talk to the help line. Even after talking to their help desk I was not able to keep any of my 3 devices connected, iPhone for work, Android phone for personal, or my Windows based computer. My work group had 9 people staying here and everyone had issues. Because of the non-existent internet it caused me, and will cause me, to go over my data on my personal phone costing me extra on my bill. I stayed here at the end of March to early April 2017.
This hotel is upscale with all the amenities you could ask for. Classy and comfy. Excellently placed near a major highway yet safely packed near a forest on a back road. Everything you could need is close by (within 5 min drive). Breakfast is hand made with quality ingredients in a restaurant. The pool and hot tub are clean, and elegant. Great stay for couples, families, business, and leisure.
Always clean, comfortable and inviting. The pool area is clean and ready for guest to enjoy. The rooms are home away from homes with comfortable beds and the breakfast will get you going in the morning. Stayed here on several occasions and have had nothing but great experiences.
I enjoyed staying there I will be back they were very friendly and nice. Everything was clean and organized things are easy to find they were helpful they helped us get extra tables for the party which was awesome
We will stay here again. The service at the restaurant and the hotel was above and beyond what was expected. My fiancé and I have gladly told others of our wonderful experience. He had never had the fish fry and he enjoyed it, much to his surprise.
The staff has been some of the friendliest that we have come across and the morning breakfasts have always been great. We used the indoor pool a few times and because it was indoor it was a little humid. The noise from the indoor pool area can get a little loud if there a bunch of kids, so if you have a room facing the indoor pool, keep that in mind.
I chose this property because they, for free, picked us up at the Moline airport and the following morning took us to the Riberboat Cruise on the Mississippi River. At the end of the cruise they did the same in reverse.
We stayed over night. The hotel has obviously been remodeled but the rooms were large and spacious. Plenty of room for us to spread out. The bathroom having a sink and the counter top outside also having a sink was a big plus with 4 girls getting ready. The hot breakfast is real food. Biscuits and gravy, bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs all hot served buffet style. Fruit, cereal, toast, waffles and bagels also on hand. We would stay again the next time we visit Davenport.
The staff and restaurant where we attended a rehearsal dinner at this venue were fantastic. The only complaint I have about the actual hotel rooms is that they smell heavily of cigarette smoke even in the non-smoking rooms. Many of the guests staying in our group had to change rooms or get them sprayed but despite the spray and room changes the smell of cigarettes was still potent. We had a king room which was very spacious and the bed was comfortable enough. The bathrooms are very dated making them appear dirty. A little love on these rooms and this hotel would be very nice.
Traveled to Davenport for a wedding being held at this hotel. What an awesome hotel! From the moment I made my reservation, I was impressed with the friendliness of the staff. I called back to request early check in, got another staff person on the phone who was just as friendly as the first. Once we arrived, the front desk staff were also over the top helpful and kind. Very impressive for sure. The hotel itself was very nice and clean...but what put it over the top was the employees.
Great location right off of I-80, easy to get to, room was well cleaned, and the staff were extremely helpful with a smile! No issues with checkout and the WiFi holds well. My gf and I were able to get some work done without losing connection to our work sites.
Very clean and comfortable. Complimentary breakfast buffet was good, but never varied during our five day stay. This was our first stay at a BW+ property. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would consider staying there again myself.
My husband and I embarked on road trip, driving to the East Coast from California and back over 3 weeks. This location was our fourth night on the trip. We book through AAA, which offers the most attractive room rates. The room rate included breakfast. This hotel is not in town and is located not far off the Interstate. The spacious room had one King bed, chair with ottoman, desk big enough for two to share if you don't mind being close, 2 desk outlets, free WiFi, one luggage rack and one luggage table, roomy corner closet with iron/ironing board, small but adequate bathroom with towels for 3, refrigerator, microwave, 40" flat screen, very nice furnishings and double paned windows with double layer curtains; blackout insulated and sheers. We were in a rear facing room and were able to park our car in view from our window. The parking slots are large/wide and plentiful. The lobby is open and welcoming with very nice decor. Restaurant and bar, Prairie Grill, just off the lobby. Spacious bar, with Bar Special food each night. Cool sunken seating area. Dance floor. On Wednesday night we enjoyed a Burger, fries and a Coors or Bud draft, $6.00. Deal! There is also a dining room, though we did not dine there. The bathroom had the full complement of toiletries, including, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, makeup remover wash cloth and enough white hotel towels for 3 people. Good water pressure in the shower, with a high shower head, good for tall guests, All bed linens were snowy white with a damask comforter. Some rooms overlook the pool. Ours did not. Our room was a bit of a walk from the lobby and we carried our bags up the stairs, though Front Desk offered assistance, if needed. We didn't mind the walk or the stairs. This is a 3 story hotel, no elevator. The pool and hot tub area was the coolest thing about the hotel. Situated in a huge atrium in the center of the building, soaring ceilings, 12X12 columns supporting a roof with 8 large skylights, 12 windows, seating areas, small arcade, and a pool table. Great group gathering spot. Pleasant staff, wonderful breakfast in a nice room with a window view and nice furnishings. Scrambled eggs, potatoes, biscuits and gravy, link sausage and bacon. A variety of fresh whole fruits, cereals, yogurt. Breads and bagels to toast, muffins, 4 types cereal, yogurt, milk, juices. BONUS Belgian waffle maker. Good hotel, better than average breakfast and an easy to get to location.
This hotel was chosen for out of town guest to stay for a wedding. The value of the hotel was terrible. The quality of this hotel would be similar to a run down motel that you find in the middle of nowhere and only stay because you have no other choice. The hotel smelled of stale smoke, the staff was not friendly, the room was not clean. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone nor will I return.
Called the morning of my reservation to request a top floor. No problem. Checked in and the desk person gave me a ground floor. I told her I had called that morning and asked her why my reservation was changed -- she said because there was no elevator. Strange -- and I didn't like this. The motel is spread out over several wings -- getting to the lobby was a very long walk. There was a wedding and the place was very crowded. Assigned an upper floor room near end of building and stairs -- the ice machine on the first floor could be heard half way down the hall on the 2nd floor. I checked it out and it was running like a cheap generator. Room was fine, breakfast also was very good. Dinner at the Prairie Grille was not OK. Sent back the prime rib which was impossible to cut or chew. Ordered a Rib Eye steak and half of it was excellent, the other half had a lot of gristle and fat. Not coming back.
We were on our annual Goldwing road trip over Labor Day weekend, staying Saturday night. We were tired and hungry, and needed a place to stay for the night. You sort of get what you get on a holiday weekend. The hot tub was a nice retreat after a hard day of riding. The front desk suggested a good place to park the bike for the night. Front desk very friendly. However, the room did not have any sort of directory--no information about area attractions, no restaurant suggestions, no idea where churches were for services the next morning. Breakfast was the typical powered eggs, breakfast meats, etc. Nothing special. We were not real thrilled with this BW, but again, you get what you can get for a holiday weekend. We try to stay at BW since they are usually very friendly, and cater to motorcyclists.
Stayed at the hotel for the Ford ST Fest car show and racing event. The rooms were clean and in good shape. Overall the hotel is in very good shape, staff friendly and helpful. The only niggle is the road leading to the hotel is very rough.
We came for a college visit and stayed at this facility. The hotel I think is under renovation. Our room was kind of smelly but clean. Overall I would stay her again because there were more positives than negatives. The internet did not work very good at all. The beds were very comfortable and we enjoyed our stay.
We had a very good dinner at Best Western restaurant. Was relaxing while we ate. The buffet breakfast was very good. We slept well. We printed a coupon in the Best Western lobby. We saw the motel from the expressway. Wasn't easy to get to at first.
The hotel staff was friendly, the amenities were nice, and the food from Prairie Grille was amazing. The hotel staff called us a couple hours after we checked in to make sure that everything was okay with the room. The pool area and hot tub were kept clean and they were nicely heated. The pricing for the Prairie Grille was very reasonable and the food was so good you didn't want to stop eating it. The only downside was the breakfast buffet was mediocre.
The A/C did not work in our room, we had a view of the fenced in heat pump/dumpster (not sure what was out there). I made the reservation for four people and the room had only enough towels for three and at breakfast the bread had mold on it. So Best Western will not be at the top of our list when booking rooms in the future.
Fantastic, very professional, caring, great staff affordable, great location, outstanding breakfast, access to room was outstanding, reservation process was easy, Molly made it easy to confirm reservation, would definitely return to this Hotel when traveling,,never dissatisified with Best Western
Staff polite, room exceptional, breakfast was delicious! Did not use other amenities due to travel schedule, but pool area looked relaxing. Fitness center looked fabulous. Would definately stay here again!
Very good value! I have stayed at many hotels in the area, and have paid less, but this was worth the little bit of extra $! The staff was very friendly and professional.l The breakfast was better than the usual complimentary breakfast buffet offered at some hotels, the pool area was very nice. I'll be staying here again when visiting my daughter at school!
We arrived later than expected, my wife was dangerously close to missing a conference call. Desk Staff got us into a room and settled in with moments to spare. The room was over and above our expectations, and all the staff was extremely helpful during our stay.
The staff and the rooms are great. We had a very nice room and with the restkurant and lounge on property we were able to rest and recoup from a long motorcycle ride to relocate. The rooms were clean. the food in the resturant was excellent. I would definitely stop there if we go through that area again.
close and easy get away, great hospitality, nice warm pool, nice little exercise room, quiet day and night, close to interstate, awesome breakfest, nice night club, great people to assist you at your request, and prompt with it
This is our first time staying at a Best Western Plus. It was very nice. I liked the fact that we could have an adult beverage and a meal at the hotel. The service was excellent and the food was very good. They had burger, fries and beer for six dollars. What a deal! The room was nice, clean, spacious and quiet. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
Wanted to visit Clinton, LeClaire, Bettendorf and Davenport. Stayed at the Best Western which we had stayed at several years ago. Roomy, comfortable bed, good set-up for bathroom. Breakfast had a number of choices, there was a very friendly woman there who cleaned up after each person left. Hotel about 5 miles from downtown but is close to the airport.
We were with family and friends. Kids had a blast in the pool and we ordered dinner right from the restaurant there and ate poolside. Reasonably priced hotel and had some good updates for what I assume is an older hotel. We were there for a gymnastics meet and had a 10 min drive max to the River Center. Free Breakfast was good and the staff throughout the hotel was very nice. Would stay here again.
We passed through Davenport on a cross-country trip and were pleased with the accommodations at this hotel. The room was immaculate and the bed was comfortably firm. We arrived late after a long day's drive and the gentleman at the counter told us that if we were quiet we could use the pool and hot tub even though they were technically closed. The complimentary breakfast buffet was nothing special but there was a good variety and the coffee good. This hotel was pleasant and a good value. I would definitely stay here again.
Very nice establishment. Great amenities. The staff was very professional. I enjoyed my stay and would stay again when I am in the area. The facility is a nice sized. Big with the small feeling. Everything was very well kept and clean.
We stayed for one night in March. It was a nice enough place, but none of the video games they had were working, there was a family that kept spilling their beer in the pool, and apparently it is the go to hangout for people. The two days and one night we were there, the lobby next to the pool was filled to capacity with people drinking and watching sports. Not my idea of a place to stay with my kids on vacation. So we won't be back. But our room was clean, the breakfast was good, the price was decent.
We arrived around 2:30 pm. There were so many cars; which we thought was strange for so early in the day. We checked in, and found out there was a wedding scheduled, two rehearsal dinners and a wedding the next day. We should have turned around and found a different hotel for the night. After being on the road for 9 hours we were tired, and just wanted to relax. The wedding party was hanging out in front of our room, with kids playing in the ice maker, and banging on our window. We had asked for a pool side room, because we had stayed here before. At 9:30 there were about 20+ people in the pool screaming. Not really what we were expecting. It is a great hotel for families, but way too busy for us this time. I wish they would have let us know ahead of time about all the weddings, because we would have found somewhere else to stay. The night manager payed for movie rentals for my kids and offered to switch our rooms, but we had already unpacked and settled in. Next time I will ask what is going on, because it was just too busy for us.
EXCELLENT - Loved my suite. Front desk service was polite professionally welcoming. I had no problems and have no complaints with this hotel and I plan on returning in August and September. The room was very nice, shower clean and water hot when needed. Bed was very comfortable (most beds are hard on my back, so your experience may be different.) House cleaning very efficient and trustworthy - I highly like this hotel and definitely recommend it.
Room was very clean. Mattress and pillows were comfortable. Windows open, which is a plus for me. I enjoyed having a complimentary breakfast in a restaurant instead of a lobby. Gas station at end of road has a mini grocery store inside which came in handy when my husband was craving bananas.
I have stayed at this location before and will definitely use this hotel again whenever I need to stay in the Davenport area. The staff members were all courteous and friendly. I experienced no problems at all and do recommend this hotel.
Stayed @ BTPS and each time, it gets worst! Pros: Great HOT Breakfast, Cons: Slow internet! Housekeeping did not replace coffee or other necessities! Don't get a pool room. The guest are noisy and management lets them go on and on till early morning hours. YOU MUST COMPLAIN TO MANAGEMENT ABOUT THE NOISE.
WOW what a hidden gem this was! I had a beautiful room right off the courtyard and the hotel was very clean and the breakfast was awesome! I will definitely stay here again! You cannot beat the price it was less than most other hotels for a room half the size! If you have a hard time locating it like we did at first just look for menards off business 61 it's right up the frontage road from it!
A very accommodating staff. We travel with a pet and asked if we could hv a room near an exit. Casey is a cat that walks on a leash and we didn't want to walk through the lobby. The gal at the desk did it with a smile. The on site restaurant is also a plus as once in there is no need to go out again. The staff there was pleasant as well. We enjoyed our meal. Casey also gives his stamp of approval. We recommend it if you're looking for lodging in the area. Hal
Overall this was an okay hotel. We were in town for my son's graduation and appreciated the size of the room and the fact that the King Suite we had boasted one full bath and one half bath. Not sure I have ever seen that before. Decor is getting a little dated and the door slamming early in the morning by the cleaning staff was ridiculous. Other than that the hotel was clean and quiet but there isn't much else in the neighborhood in terms of restaurants or shopping. .
There is a lot to like here: a fine restaurant, a night club, and a lot of space between them and your room. The on-site Prairie Grille Restaurant delivers to your room for a $2 charge, and the food is well prepared, plentiful and reasonably priced. The walls are adorned with photos of the wife's co-owner of the property by Life magazine photographer Gordon Parks in the 1950s. The room was spacious, well appointed, and reasonably priced. They have a system in place to print your documents securely, the first I've seen in my travels. I could go on, but I think you've gotten the idea by now: I liked this place. A lot. I'm looking forward to my next stay here.
Just returned from a business trip in Davenport. Stayed one night at Best Western, The hotel was fairly nice but a little older and not updated. The beds were very comfortable. Bathroom dated and could use updating. Pool area could also use updating. Ate at the bar-got a beer, burger, and fries for $6.42. Not bad! Bar was also dated looking. Plenty of free parking. Meeting room got too hot after a while, but we were able to adjust the setting. Overall, not bad for business trip.
Excellent accommodations and service. They even mailed me back my missing blazer after they found it! Wonderful staff!!! Clean room, nice breakfast. Could not have been made to feel more welcome. I'll be back!
Always enjoy my stay at the Best Western Plus Steeplegate Inn. They have an excellent restaurant with delicious food. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The staff is very friendly and helpful. My child attended St. Ambrose University so I have been staying here for the past 4 years.
Very nice hotel with a good buffet breakfast and restaurant. The pool was small and crowded on the weekend. They have the smallest hot tub I have ever seen but the hotel was quiet and clean and friendly staff.
The pool view room was very nice, the room was quiet, and the staff were very helpful. I would stay at this hotel again. The only negative thing I have is go to breakfast earlier as the breakfast after 9AM is very picked through and the items are some what cold
The hotel was beautiful, right off the freeway and the staff was great! Can't say enough good about this Best Western and we have stayed at quite a few. Plus they took our service dog with not issues. Some will lecture us on where the dog and cannot go in or outside the hotel. This is the BEST BY FAR!!
This hotel would get 5 stars from me for service, cleanliness, comfort, amenities, etc. EXCEPT, so so so extremely noisy. The layout of the hotel puts the pool in the middle and all the noise goes straight into any room within range. If the hotel were to put in sound insulating doors and seal around the doors in the rooms, this would reduce the noise level by 80% easily. One night it was so loud that earplugs didn't even block out the sound. So, I had a comfortable bed, clean room, friendly people, but absolutely none of that matters if you can't sleep due to noise. Also, many first floor rooms absolutely reek of cigarette smoke, though this is a non-smoking hotel, I think they need to pull up carpet, throw out mattresses and repaint those rooms to get rid of the smell. Sorry about the crummy review, but the hotel management really needs to invest money into noise reduction and smoke smell abatement.
Came in without reservations and were lucky enough to get a kingsize bed. It would have been cheaper to book online though, I will keep that in mind. We were exhausted so didn't take advantage of too much but the beds were great. Appreciated the call from front desk to check on everything. We hope others staying at the motel were lucky enough to enjoy the admirable gentlemen flying the B17s over the motel, we watched them do a low fly over and let me tell you it puts butterflies in your tummy even this 46 yr old gal! Great experience all around love Iowa wonderfully friendly state.
We stayed here for four nights with a group of friends. Room was clean and comfortable. Nice pool and Hot tub on site--didn't have time to use. Drinks in there bar were reasonably priced. I didn't eat in their restaurant. Free breakfast was your standard hot and cold hotel breakfast items-Breakfast was in the restaurant area, so it had lots of space. We would stay here again.
This hotel went above and beyond to facilitate our group of 80 plus. The staff excels at taking great care of the guest and the facility is top notch. If you're planning an event in Davenport, you would be foolish not to consider the Steeplegate Inn. They are a Best Western Plus property.
The reservation was wrong and they didn't fix it to what I reserved. We got rooms but not the ones I reserved on line and the desk staff didn't seem to think it was a big deal. The wait staff in the morning for breakfast were rude.
Really nice pool/hot tub/recreation area. The food was excellent and we enjoyed the Gordon Parks' photo in the Prairie Grill. We were tired but otherwise might have enjoyed the attached bar that has live entertainment.
Honestly, this was the nicest Best Western property that I have ever stayed at. My room was amazing. The staff was wonderful. The service road to get to the property was a little confusing but the property itself was immaculate. I would stay here again in a heart beat.
Staff very outstanding!!!! I have never met nicer people all the around the hotel. Check-in, bar/rest, housekeeping, exit, etc. ALL STAFF - seriously! I had difficulty getting to the hotel, called and staff were so kind and gentle helping me get there! I was very stressed. I am returning next week and hope to see some familiar faces. I would describe this hotel as old but quaint - what it does not have in beauty it has in the character of staff!!!!
This staff has a serving heart and that is what makes a hotel a home away from home. Great price for the value you are receiving and the staff already know my name only after 2 visits. That is family!
I travel a lot by myself, And having a comfortable room at the end of the day is a must, I have always counted on best western for my travels because of value, cleanliness and security. a great chain to do business with.
Wanting to have a get away to celebrate we choose the Steeplegate Inn in Davenport. We live about 30 minutes away so we went there in person to make reservations and check on a few things. For many years we have eaten in their restaurant and visited friends there. So we feel we somewhat know the facilities. They have a pool, good for the grandkids. Right by the pool is the atrium, great place to gather together while watching the kids in the pool. We asked for rooms on the main floor because they don't have an elevator. Stairs are very difficult. We booked rooms which were to have two queen beds. We also asked if anything special might be going on that weekend as we wanted to be able to use the atrium. We were assured it would be available. We booked weeks in advance. And now the rest of the story. When checking in we were told second floor. We explained to the desk person this wouldn't work and we booked way ahead to assure we would have first floor. The desk person said no notation was made at the time. Well we were there in person and watched her make it while we were there. My husband wasn't backing down and after much computer work we were put on the first floor. As we opened the door to the room we were hit with a loud humming sound. This was extremely annoying. He went back to the desk explained the noise. The mantainance man was there right away. He (Jeff) agreed it was not right and he would move us and even offered to help move our belongings. He was a real gentleman and very helpful. We didn't have the double queen beds but made it work. We couldn't use the atrium. Some organization had taken it over. Since we had a group of people it would have been nice to have all of us be able to use this area. It was a bit crowded in our room. If you make a reservation check on things before you get there. This was most frustrating. We will continue to dine there, but not sure if we will stay again. They could use some updating also.
The Steeplegate needs to repair and update their rooms. Our room had a very awkward floorplan, an old Jacuzzi in an oversized bathroom with double French doors. Strange. Double shower heads on both ends of the Jacuzzi may seem like a good idea, but were so high, they were out of reach for adjusting them. Very weird. Additionally, the Jacuzzi itself was too tall for either of us to step into, so we never did use it. A second half bath just inside the door was another oddity. We liked the location of the pool, and enjoyed the warm temperature of the water, but the dead flies in the water were a bit of a turn off. The tiny hot tub was nice but to say the capacity is 5 is crazy, when just the two of us felt just about right. As for the food, we enjoyed excellent sandwiches the evening we checked in, but the breakfast the following morning was a major disappointment. So much so that we opted for a corn dog at the Kwik Star the morning of our departure.
It was a nice hotel with a good breakfast. The mattress was hard and I had difficulty sleeping. The staff was pleasant and nice. I had to enter the back of the building to get to my room. I would have preferred to walk through the building. This was an option, but I did not know.
My husband and I stayed here for two nights - first night was in one of the "jacuzzi suites"... And the tub was outdated - but everything was clean and worked well - the room was quiet and the bed and pillows comfortable - the second night we had a different room because that room had already been booked (we just stopped in on a whim), so we had a pool view room on the second floor - again, everything was clean and comfortable and I was impressed with how sound proof the room was! There was a reception in the pool area and we never had any problems hearing them. Breakfast was nice both times and we will be staying here again! I would recommend it!
It was a great place for a large family gathering however it did get quite loud in the pool and surrounding area. There was a ceiling fan or something above that made an unusual noise that never seemed to go away -- it was tolerable but annoying.
Great location and outstanding amenities. Everything you need in one location and close to shopping and other restaurants if desired. The staff is friendly, very professional, and very helpful. Definitely worth the trip! Will definitely stay there again!
We've stayed here a few times now and our experience is always wonderful. Everything is clean and service is prompt. Our last stay was during a snow storm and the parking lot was plowed right away. This was very nice because despite the snow, we still wanted to go out.
I really enjoyed my stay. The pool area is wonderful and secure for the little kids. The beds are the BEST!!! Breakfast is wonderful and held in the restaurant area which is a lot nicer. There is plenty of room to sit and the food is great.
Our room was spacious and very clean and comfortable. We ordered a room service dinner from the hotel restaurant, and the food was excellent and reasonably priced. Pet fee was extremely reasonable. All the staff were friendly and courteoous. Good breakfast buffet included, which you could eat in the restaurant or dish up and carry back to your room. Would definitely stay here again.
My room was nice, bed was comfortable. Breakfast was good but would have been better with real oatmeal instead of the packages. Dinner was good, had the barbecue chicken salad. Nice sized portion and server was attentive. The meeting room, Willialmsburg B was either hot or cold, not sure what was going on with the hvac but we were either too hot or very cold (and hot was better.) Manager, Chris, was terrific and made some accommodations for our group even though it put him in a bit of a pinch with his next group. Very much appreciated. All in all, I'd recommend.
We had our wedding and reception here and had a great time. The staff is easy to work with and everything went on without a hitch. They were attentive to detail. The ceremony and reception were amazing. The food was excellent. The wedding coordinator worked closely with us to make sure that there were no surprises and was totally up front with us about everything from the start. We also had our rehearsal dinner here and that went very well too. We wholeheartedly recommend this facility for your wedding and any other event you may have.
The hotel is a great place to stay. It has all the amenities. The hotel hasa pool, atrium, outstanding restaurant, bar and lounge, and many more items. The hotel is very clean, full time staff in all phases. A super hotel and a great place to stay.
Fabulous stay. This has to be the best Best Western hotel I have ever stayed in... and I have stayed in a lot of them. The room was very spacious and beautifully decorated. I loved the free drink at check in. The equipment in the fitness center was in excellent condition. Beautiful pool area with hot tub. Great hot breakfast with scrambled eggs, potatoes, two kinds of sausage along with standard continental fare of fruit, assorted pastries, yogurt, etc. Easy access to I-80. Will definitely stay here again!
Entire 2 day business stay was superb. Very quiet and peaceful. Staff treated us as royalty. We were given everything we needed. Parking very adequate. Was provided taxi service at no charge and no hassle. Food was unbeatable, glass, cups and silver was a surprise. No paper of plastic with exception to take out coffee. Pool and hot tub open and in the large atrium. I could go on and on...
We had a fantastic time. Beautiful, clean, great breakfast.. Loved our room and the staff was fantastic. We are going to make this our destination hotel from now on. I have stayed at pretty much all the hotel motels in the area and found this one to be far superior to all the rest. The price was right for a 4 star hotel .
Stayed on a Friday night, the hot tub in the atrium was out of service (was not told that on booking the motel), food in the restaraunt was good, all you can eat fish. Gas fireplace in Restaraunt did not work and it was a little cool in there. I had stayed there some years ago and it was a really nice place. Needs updated some I think. Our king room with a hot tub was really big and clean. Bed was comfortable.
We changed our wedding date and venue late in the process and found the Best Western Steeplegate by accident. The website said they had a minimum of 50 people and we knew our wedding would be less than that number but we went to speak with them anyway. It was perfect! They we're able to accommodate our smaller wedding using 2 of the back private rooms off the restaurant. We had a buffet service that was set up in the second room. A chief was there to prepare the shrimps and slice the beef for those guests wanting that. The food was fabulous and the servers made sure my husband and I were both given generous plates so that we didn't have to go through the buffet line ourselves. The wait staff was professional and extremely courteous. It was a perfect night. Our guest that stayed over enjoyed a free breakfast as part of their room rental and if they missed the breakfast, their was a brunch that had a percentage taken off. We missed the breakfast but the brunch was fabulous as well. If you're looking for an intimate wedding venue, I'd highly recommend you speak with Josie from the banquet management group. She was very helpful and full of ideas that helped us make this more of a special night. Thank you everyone at the Best Western. You are fabulous! Oh, and for those that want to continue the party afterwards, the hotel has a bar and nightclub attached where some of our guest met up after and shared a few drinks and dancing. It was great.
No surprises just clean, quiet, comfortable, and friendly. The breakfast was great, a check-in call was a nice welcome, and everyone was professional and kind from beginning to end. We are hard to please and would stay at this Hotel again.
I was happy with the rate I received being a Military member. I also was quite pleased that they read my requirements that I was slightly handicapped and provided me with a handicapped room on the first floor!! Parking was great also. I also liked the Noon check out!
We encountered a couple of problems during our stay- housekeeping forgetting to clean the room and room service forgetting part of the order. I still gave them a excellent rating because of the way they handled the problems. They were not major problems, just enough to irritate you when you are traveling. They corrected the problems to the best of their ability and followed up with us to make sure everything was to our satisfaction. They have a excellent staff and they seem sincerely concerned about their guests. Have stayed at Steeplegate many times over the years and this is the first time we ever encountered any problems. We will definitely continue staying there when in Quad Cities area.
Steeplegate was a very nice stay... good staff, clean rooms, lovely pool area. Sad to say spa was not working, but looks like it too would be very pleasant when repaired.Would come back just to relax and enjoy facilities. Like having bar/lounge connected.
This hotel has it all, for a really great price. Beautiful lobby, comfy rooms, friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was tasty, and had a lot of choices. Wish we could have stayed longer, but would definitely stay here again.
The rooms smelled of old smoke and mildew. They were out dated and overall just felt dirty. The beds were hard, the bathtub had old brown soap scum was streaked from an unsuccessful attempt to scrub it years ago. My clothes reeked of old smoke and mildew when I returned home. We had to consistently request that our servers in the restaurant and in the bar areas to return from the back employee area to bring us silverware, our food, drink refills and our checks. The front desk clerks would disappear to an office and we had to stand there and wait for them to return. The morning of our checkout (10/16/2015), the front desk clerk didn't know how to separate a bar charge from the room charge. I really needed it for business expense reporting purposes. Overall, our experience at this hotel was very poor. I will not be staying there again.
We stayed one night on our way to Iowa city for a football game. Exit right off of route 80. The property is a little dated but was clean and well kept. Excellent service by front desk staff. We had to leave before breakfast was served, can't comment on that. One unexpected issue. We were charged for dining room services of $98.00 when we didn't even go near the restaurant area. Staff did clear this up after we noticed it at home.
Awesome Best Western. They let us park our motorcycles under the entrance canopy - very safe. Breakfast was a full buffet, which was a nice surprise. Our room seemed brand new. Room was quiet and generous in size. The handicap bathroom seemed very well equipped. Would recommend highly!
Our room was super clean which is something you don't see in a lot of motels these days. We stayed in the fall with our American Water Spaniel and had a wonderful room right off the pool area. They had a much better than an average hotel buffet breakfast served courtesy of the attached restaurant. We will defiantly stay here again when passing through.
The hotel facilities are fine, but the rooms really need to be updated. Our bed was comfortable and the room was spacious. Breakfast was very good and plentiful. There is an eating facility onsite, but we chose a Red Robin in the area for dinner.
Great place to have our family stop by for a visit. We enjoyed the the pool. Open area near the Large pool was easy for us to sit & visit with our kids and Grand-kids. A little bit noisy but not out of line for kids playing in and around the pool. Mattress was disappointing. Would be nice to update room furniture.
I've been staying here every week for almost 3 years and have always received awesome service from all the front desk staff, restaurant and bar staff and even the maintenance department. I use a CLC rate ( corporate lodging card ) and I'm treated with great respect just like any other guest would be. Rooms are clean and the restaurant food and bar service are the best ! Once again this all starts at the front desk and with the hotel management ! I will keep coming back as long as I can !
