Very good hotel, nice breakfast, good spa area, quiet rooms. Even the room closest to spa was quiet. In the room bathrobe, extra towel and slippers - all handy for the use in spa. Parking area is sufficient, two parkings one in the front of the main entrance and one in the backyard. Costs 10€ per night, but always spots available.
Reception: friendly and professional, efficient process Room: spacious enough for its category, nicely furnished, comfortable bed Bathroom: functional (little downside: no body lotion) Housekeeping: excellent Breakfast/Restaurant: fantastic view from the 6th floor, food and drinks average quality Pool/Sauna: a bit overrated in the description of the hotel, the pool is really tiny (crowded when 2 people are in it)
Where's their marketing suggests you'll end-up at an upscale place, this hotel is totally a flashback to the 1980s. Starting with the guest rooms all the way to the restaurant and breakfast area. Especially the single guest rooms are tiny and super old-fashioned when it comes to furniture, bathroomes, equipment and even room doors. But they're comfortable and their shower has a good water pressure and temperature. Parking costs money, which I found odd.
Checked in for two days at this Hotel. Our first impression from the outside was....mixed. It dates back to at least the seventeen but - the very moment we stepped in we'd been positively surprised. Well renovated, friendly staff, very nice and cosy rooms (5th floor), spectacular view from the room and especially from the restaurant on the 6th floor to the sea and the maritime traffic heading to Hamburg. Our room was modern and had a great, maritime flair. The spacious, tidy and nice bathroom was inviting too. The spa area had nice saunas and a small pool, pitifully no wellness offers like massages had been available, but that's just a minor flaw. The restaurant on the 6th floor offers, besides its spectacular view an open kitchen and, dry aged beef at its best. Worth every penny they ask for (and some pennies they ask!). The next day we tried their bar with a wide range of craft beers, great taste. Recommend you to visit it. We will definitely come back to Donner's next time we're around.
I stayed at Donner's while on a work trip to Nordholz. The parking lot is a little tricky to find if it's your first visit, but there *is* a Best Western sign, it's just easy to miss, especially at nite. The rooms are nicely appointed, the breakfast is delicious, and there's lots to do within a quick walk. Check out the lighthouse and harbor nearby, or go inland to see a lot of quaint and historical architecture. There's a Real nearby (Walmart'ish but a bit smaller), along with a lot of restaurants and sights to see. I'll stay there again if I get back to Cuxhaven.
It's quite, nice and good hotel at cuxheven All crow is the best with very good food quality and nice room and near from all places any one want to see it at cuxheven . I hope that next year come with my wife.
Stayed overnight following a drive from Frankfurt on our way to get the ferry to Helgoland. Arrived just before midnight, but they were expecting us and everything was efficient and polite. Fairly modern rooms with WiFi and space to use a computer (without needing to sit on the bed). Nice bathroom with a super shower. Breakfast was not the “full English” but this is not in England, so Fruhstuck was fine. All in all quite good and they can expect a repeat visit next time we are headed that way.
Donner's has a high quality of food and services, and an exellent view over Alte Liebe and the harbour. The city is within walking distance. We even got an evening swim in the city beach. The price is also very high.
Time of stay four Days. We enjoyed the big new and comfortable rooms. Breakfast was complete and in the evening the dinner was very good too. Way to harbour was about two minutes by feet. Staff was very friendly.
This was booked for me by my employer. We use it for two main reasons 1. Price 2. Local (200m from our office). The rooms are sufficient for the one nighters like me and for longer stayers like all the tourist who visit. The only issues I would say are the room I had didn't have A/C and the WiFi connection is a little slow , however it is free which is good. The selection of variations for breakfast we're fine , cooked or continental, and the staff attentive too. The hotel is in good condition and looks well maintained. So for me it's a nice place to stay and would recommend it too people . Along the road there are a selection of nice eateries which always goes well with tourists and business people alike.
The breakfast restaurant have a fine variarity of sussages and cheese, and the classic scrambled eggs with beans in tomatoe sauce. When you eat it, you can enjoy the view of Cuxhaven private sailor harbour and the old damm, wich is a sight of it's own. The hotel provide you with the worse WIFI in Germany, so if you have brought your laptop along, it wouldn't get overloaded with info on your stay. Log on/log off... But the service is good and the staff are proffessional and nice people.
Nice hotel. Close to Centrum. Good view. Good breakfast and friendly and smiling personale. Very nice sauna.spa and pool. Tv only german. Close to harbour and sea. Easy parking at hotel. A lot of restaurants close to hotel
I stayed here several nights and was impressed with the friendliness of the staff but for me the best thing was the breakfast on the top floor of the hotel. A buffet with everything you would want for breakfast from cereals to joghurt to cold cuts, cheese, various rolls, made to order eggs, and even shrimp cocktail! But it was the view. You could sit enjoying your meal while watching the container ships going to and from Hamburg. I always had a very long breakfast! All the hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I even talked to the manager to compliment his staff. The hotel is situated along the seawalk and is surrounded by several good restaurants.
The hotel was spotless and the counter staff were polite and helpful. Very comfy beds and pillows. Delicious complimentary breakfast in the morning with many choices. Very close to harbour and walking paths.
Well situated hotel near the waterfront. Rooms are spacious and well decorated with particularly comfortable beds. Rooms at the back are larger and quieter but no sea view. Service is excellent with the breakfast a highlight with great views out to sea.
Spent 4 nights here for a business trip. My room faced the "back" of the hotel towards the town. Restaurant on 6th floor - typical EU hotel breakfast. Views of the North Sea were great from here. Comfortable bed, clean quiet room.
The hotel is located in Cuxhaven near its harbor. The rooms are cozy and spacious. The sauna is perfect for end-of-day re-energizing with is variety of temperatures and humidity and a perfect pool. Breakfast is good.
Been there with colleague before New Year. I have eaten Dry Age Meat in many places but here its everything what you expect. Fantastic meat and very well crafted and aged I must say. If you ever pass-by Cuxhaven sample this delicious home age meat. Good job.
Nice service at the front disk you feel welcome. Room was a nice size, with a comfortable bed all over it was clean Super breakfast, and a gourmet restaurant with a nice menu card Restaurant has a fantastic view
Staying on every transit in cuxhaven. The rooms are clean and comfortable the newly renovated rooms are amazing and restaurant is great. Dont miss out on breakfast its a nice selection at the buffet and the service is incredible. Love it!
This place is great. Perfect location for walking the docs or walking to town. The rooms are modest but clean and comfy. Breakfast is well appointed. I ate dinner in the top of the hotel.. Spectacular views and the fish special was great. Really good fish. But their specialty is beef. The front desk staff is so helpful and friendly.. Everything from holding my bags for the day to calling taxis Tip.. Pool / Sauna / reception area undergoing major renovation. Will be ready for New Years.. Tip 2.. Lobby coffee machine makes good coffee for those windy strolls...
I have been coming to Donner's since 2005. This hotel has managed to keep the quality and service. The hotel is immaculately clean, and offer's the best breakfast. Ice cream and coffee is free in the lobby esp during summer. Two elevators service this small hotel, though old the lifts are very efficient though rather slow. Rooms are well appointed , clean with very neat bathrooms (sparkling white) The hotel has a pool and sauna, fast internet , good sized tv, the staff is very courteous and accommodating.
Very nice hotel, doesn't look like much from the outside but suprised us in a good way. Rooms are very clean, good beds, quiet. Breakfast is excellent with a superb view over the Elbe. We ate in the restaurant too, again excellent food. Staff are polite.
Good hotel, simple, large rooms, great bathrooms, nice view of the North Sea. Walking distance to many restaurants, sights etc. Just on the harbor so event the Elba 1 ship can be seen and visited nearby.
I stayed for two nights at this small hotel last week and must say had all the German efficiency. Was very clean, though rooms were small. Internet access was good, though had a long username and password and if you moved around the hotel had to check in again. Annoying. The breakfast was nice, a good selection and staff super friendly. Cuxhaven is not a big city so I did not expect much. They had a free coffee machine in the lobby which is a nice touch. Did not have time to use the pool that have. Spoke to manager and he was very polite. I needed some disinfectant for a wound I had on my finger and to my surprise it's forbidden in Germany. In sure I'll stay here again when on business.
This hotel overlooks the River Elbe and the North Sea. Very nice having a full width balcony. The food was a reasonable local selection for breakfast with good quality ham, cheese and bread being noteworthy as well as the Bircher muesli. Flat sandy beaches and dunes close by. Reasonably restaurants within walking distance too.
The hotel was nice and comfortable. Stayed in a suite type room, worked well as it was great to prepare for the business meetings the next day. Breakfast was excellent, Staff was very helpful. Just wished I could stay longer :)
We chose the Donner Hotel as a recommendation. English speaking staff was helpful. They offer free parking and a full free breakfast which was plentiful. For dinner we ate at the hotel restaurant, which offers fresh North Sea fish which was excellent. My only complaint about the hotel was it is not air conditioned, and the days we were there were pretty warm days. There wasn't even a breeze coming through the windows. If you stay at this hotel, try to get a room with a balcony so at least the open door will allow more air in than just a window like we had, which only tilted in about 4" which is not enough for a breeze.
I was pleased to be made to feel so welcome on arrival after a long motorbike ride in unpleasant conditions. That initial welcome is so important to guests and it is a constant source of amazement that some places seem to think guests to be just a nuisance whose presence should be tolerated at best. Everything else leads on from that and makes one better disposed to any other issues. The hotel is in a good position with sea views, and the presence of good, secure on site parking is very helpful. Common parts are nicely decorated and comfortable with the top floor restaurant having excellent views. My single room was spacious enough, scrupulously clean with a comfortable bed and snuggly duvet, tea and coffee making facilities, well stocked mini bar, TV, reasonable lighting options and en suite bathroom (shower only). Also a balcony but weather too miserable to enjoy it this time! Others have commented that walls are a bit thin but I have to say that I was not unduly disturbed. Restaurant food very good but you do have to convince the staff that you really do not want too much on your plate!
This hotel is situated in an excellent location for our needs. We find the choice at Breakfast in this hotel is exceptional for a continental buffet type breakfast. The staff are always friendly and efficient.
Stayed here for one night on business. Arrived early hours of morning and receptionist was very friendly. Our floor was being refurbished at the time and was awoken with building noise at around 8am. Walls are paper thin and can hear rooms around you early morning with people leaving, hence didn't sleep too well. Breakfast was excellent on top floor with lovely views over harbour. Staff all very friendly and speak good English.
