Learn more about Verona
City of Romeo and Juliet, Verona is the romantic destination par excellence. Set off to discover "little Rome" during a stay in a Verona city-centre hotel offering unique services. But while this town is world-famous for its Shakespearean lovers, it will also win you over with its many ancient remains, its medieval buildings and its majestic arena. Head to northern Italy, in the Veneto, near Lake Garda, for a dream stay!
Your hotel in Verona
Shakespeare's star-crossed lovers, Romeo Montecchi and Giulietta Capuleti, are an integral part of the city. Any stay in a hotel in Verona involves a visit to the 13th-century Palazzo Cappello and Juliet's supposed balcony. Legend or reality, "Juliet's house" remains a romantic moment, as shown by the many love notes attached to the porch and the thousands of lovers who crowd beneath the balcony. So as a couple or with friends, make way for romance and literature!
But thanks to the strategic location of your hotel in Verona city centre, you can also discover little Rome differently, notably through its ancient splendours. Begin your journey at the arena, built in the 1st century AD. Be sure to check the programme of events, as it is not unusual to attend operas or concerts there. As an anecdote, Maria Callas performed there in August 1947. The ancient theatre, set against the hill, is also worth a stop, as is the old forum. Veronese architecture impresses with its colours, frescoes and red bricks.
Our hotels always enjoy a perfect location and quality services, so that your stay in Verona meets your expectations and sightseeing wishes. Continue with medieval walks, Piazza dei Signori and the Torre dei Lamberti. The old centre is best enjoyed on foot, to admire the painted walls, frescoes and refined balconies. Verona was once rightly nicknamed "the painted city". The Torre dei Lamberti, more than 84 metres high, offers a beautiful panorama from its summit, accessible by lift or by the stairs for the most courageous. Finally, make a detour to Castelvecchio for an immersion in the heart of history. The medieval castle houses many masterpieces such as Bellini's Madonna and Child, Veronese's Pietà and Stefano da Verona's Madonna of the Rose Garden. But Verona would not be Verona without its 39 churches and prestigious bell towers. So head to the Basilica of San Zeno or the Basilica of Sant'Anastasia, and the Duomo. And what would a stay in one of our Best Western hotels in Verona be without tasting the typical dishes of the region? For the delight of your eyes and taste buds, discover soppressata, gnocchi with salt cod, risino or ubriaco cheese, before finishing with a delicious gelato! Buon appetito!
