Best Western Shadow Inn

Stayed at the Shadow Inn on the long drive from Southern California to Seattle. It was the perfect stopover - easy, quick access from I5, smooth check in, newly remodeled room that was simple, tasteful, and done with the customer in mind (e.g. good lighting and charging access.) Ample breakfast with range of options. What really made this a positive experience was the helpful, friendly staff, especially the manager, Amber, who went out of her way to help us with a couple of needs.

This hotel exceeded our expectations in comfort and cleanliness. Jannette was a delight to interact with. She got us checked in and to our room quickly. We very pleased with our stay, our room and the breakfast options. This place is a must stay!

I usually stay at this hotel when returning from San Diego, Ca. About 1/2 way home. It is priced right for what you get. Great location off freeway, breakfast is varied for different customers. Beds are a little hard, chairs are hard but great access to outlets for power by bed. Has electrical for E cars.

Nice place to stay while visiting family in Woodland. Handy to get to (right off the freeway) but didn't hear freeway traffic at all. Did hear the trains - we like hearing the trains as it reminds us of home in the Bay Area. Full breakfast available in a clean area near the front desk.

Coffee was empty when we showed up for breakfast, had to ask for new pot. It was cold when they brought it out. Had to ask them to bring out hot coffee. No hot food like at most Best Westerns. They had "out of order" signs on chaffing dishes...doubtful. More like they just didn't want to provide food. They could have at least had frozen breakfast sandwiches to go. Room wasn't all that clean and very worn. Earwig in bathroom and last guests wash cloth on top of shower rod. Mold in shower around handle on far side. Mattresses seemed old. Remote on TV kept cutting out, maybe needs new batteries. Ice machine was broken near our room downstairs so had to go up to 2nd floor to find ice. Pool wasn't heated so pointless to say they have a pool year round. In summer when it's 105 that would be find but not in winter. Parking was very odd, if you have a room on the bottom you want to be able to walk up to it but most of the rooms were inside courtyard so not easy to get to.

Staff house cleaning front desk breakfast everybody that works there was super helpful I really enjoyed my stay I highly recommend this hotel with the staff. Would love to stay there more often when I travel up north

I like some things about this property, but it sure needs a face-lift. The overall perception and layout is good, however there were some flaws. Black mold in the bathroom on the walls, filthy carpets, old peeling furniture, filthy carpet in the room, broken elecrical plug cover, and so on. Breakfast was just so-so. Out of hardboiled eggs. Out of cocoa. Lukewarm scrambled eggs and sausage. 2 pancake machines; only 1 working, and put out pancakes that were literally half cooked and barely brown. Nice grounds, but lots of cigarette butts thrown about and lots of broken exterior lighting with above ground wiring, causing a safety hazard. Do better, BW!

I'll start off with the hotel lobby at check-in. Upon walking in, I was hit with a dense smell of wet dog. This was something I would never expect. The lady who helped me with the check-in process seemed to not care for her job at all. She spoke the bare minimum to me(asked for ID, payment, and checkout time). I went to my room, and it only got worse from there. Carpet felt wet on my feet, but it's just because of how dirty it is. The high traffic area was dark grey and the rest of the carpet looked like a blue/grey. The chairs in the room were stained all over, mold on the walls, sheets were stained, and I found a human tooth on the floor. This hotel is bottom of the barrel and should be shut down. I highly discourage anyone from staying here.

On arrival I was assigned a ground level room with no carpet and a toilet running loudly. A man was smoking and talking loudly right outside the door. I told Jeanette at the front desk who apologized, shared she would speak to the man who was smoking, and she reassigned me to a 2nd level room, quiet, so clean, with carpeting. Having moved to the new room, I returned to Jeanette to thank her. She said it had been cleaned so lovely by housekeeper Reyna who was also there to greet me. Both girls were so helpful and welcoming.

Incredible Stay, I generally remain in woodland, but a few of places were sold out. I gave Best Western a try. I was delighted. No freeway racket. incredible breakfast & staff. The lobby is fascinating! I comprehend they're renovating at present. I acquired an non-renovated area. Hopefully my next visit they have restored to a better condition chamber or are finished with renovation. thanks incredible experience

I was appalled that the room was even offered to us in the condition it was in. Had been traveling all day and was so tired. Once we arrived to hotel we noticed it was nothing like the pictures that were online. The carpet was full of stains, chairs had stains and even the popcorn ceiling had stains. The furniture was old and chipping around the edges. The curtains were dusty and had spider webs. Toenail clippings were on the floor beside the headboard. I was disgusted to say the least. I was issued a refund because this hotel was unacceptable.

Our beds were clean and comfortable, and the front desk person was friendly. That was probably the highlight of our stay. The carpet needed to be replaced and was badly stained. The walls had stains. It just was not a very clean place at all for the price. There was a strong smell of pot as we walked into our room from outside. Not what I expected for our family and this hotel brand.

The rooms subpar, outdated, and noisy as they are situated next to a freeway. The room rate is too much for the quality (or lack thereof) of the rooms. The windows face the freeway and the door has a 1/4” gap at the bottom. Together, the (single pane?) window and door gap results in noise from the freeway and other guests' cars. The air conditioner is NOISY. The toilet seat in room 221 needs to be replaced or at the very least, tightened. The tub/shower needs to be updated, I didn't see and safety bars and the tub/shower configuration would make difficult to use for a person with physical limitations.

Very poor front desk service. A front desk clerk was not initially available when I checked in and no clerk was available when I checked out. The hot water did not work and after two phone calls the clerk said it would be a while before getting fixed. I did not get a call back when the problem was repaired.

This was our second stay at this Best Western. The room was clean. The location was close to the freeway. The beds are nice and soft with plenty of pillows. The TV had lots of channels. It wasn't too loud. There was a working pool. It was a typical nice Best Western.

I fun and enjoyable stay. Really easy to get to and close to food and fun. I think the pool was a little small and there was no hot tub but overall the experience was really good. Rooms were clean and secure. Staff was wonderful!

Pros: Good continental breakfast, grounds are well kept and it's easy to find. Cons: Rooms are in DESPERATE need of renovation, rooms are dirty, overpriced for what you get. When we stayed last year and they said they were renovating I was super excited and looked forward to what was going to be done. When we arrived the lobby was beautiful, clean and fresh. We got our room keys and went back to our rooms. When I opened the door I was shocked to see that nothing had been done to the guest rooms. They were still the old, out dated and run down furniture that's always been there. Stains on the chairs and carpet, tears on the lamp shade and to my surprise a lot of hair all over the bathroom floor and a strand under the pillow. I could overlook the outdated decor but the cleanliness I can not. This isn't the first time I've had issues with cleanliness. I believe in giving businesses a chance to redeem themselves and that's already been done here. I will need to find another hotel to stop at on our way home. For the price you pay this is completely unacceptable.

This property is not like any Best Western that I've stayed at before. Usually, they're newer and nice. This is like an old Motel 6. The staff and breakfast were good, but the room itself was not great. I wasn't sure that I wanted to walk on the carpet, let alone sleep in the bed. I even propped the chair under the door knob as all of the doors are exterior like a Motel 6.

Dated and in need of better maintenance. Great staff, good breakfast but noisy heater and not as clean as it should be by Best Western standards. Carpet needs to be cleaned or replaced. Sink has no stopper or screen to prevent loss of something dropped. Little things like lack of cups and coffee supplies.

It's not. But the overall layout of the property is somewhat reminiscent of where Daniel Larusso stayed in the '80s movie The Karate kid. The rooms are all entered from outside, and there are Halls that lead to a centralized pool area. It has somewhat of a resort type feel to it. My room was a little small, but it looks like they had done some remodeling recently. It appears that they have taken an older building, and made efforts to modernize it. Overall, a good stay.

I needed a weekend getaway with family and ended up having an unexpected gathering with family I haven't spent time with in years. I even extended our stay just to relax and do laundry. We most definitely will be doing it again!

Pros: Lots of parking and an elevator. Pet friendly. Cons: No USB ports, frig not plugged inc- found by accident, The frig was initially warm, had to adjust...cheap. Few plug ins - if you have more than one CPAP don't stay here. Very basic. Pictures do not represent property. Heating system dated. With this type I can usually pull out the filter, which is usually always dirty, and rinse it off. Can't get to it on this big wall mount which is weird to figure out.

Hotel is ‘tired'. Needs updating, just feels run down. Additionally our Room had smelly (noxious so we were afraid to use) a/c with soaked rug around it. Switched rooms. Hot tub under long term refurb but no where stated when I booked. Pool freezing. The staff was very Nice and accommodating.

Entering room, And front desk did they couldn't do anything. Would you step on this carpet? The fridge is obviously never moved for cleaning. Gross! Never again. Oh, and they take 50bucks for deposit....HELLO I WANT A REFUND! 211 a night. No working fridge, no ice bucket, 2 towels... everywhere else is sold out.

Very comfortable night sleep. Room was very clean. Quiet. Grounds immaculate. Cynthia, the receptionist, was very friendly & helpful. Kelly took excellent care of the breakfast service & all with a smile. First time here. We will return.

Hotel, convenient to freeway, room was OK, carpet had large black stains, bathroom sink was cracked, shower water diverter, didn't work & bath towels were really small Also noticed outside sprinklers were on a long time, causing water to run down the street

We have stayed here several times, it's consistently perfectly fund. Period the carpet was a bit dated, and stained, but I know that they are working on redoing the rooms. I feel very safe in this location

the room was very clean. the price was even better. would definitely stay here again. check in was very quick. breakfast was okay. did not use the pool. TV worked and lots of channel options. shower was great. bed very comfortable.

The room was comfortable as usual (we stay here at least three times each year when traveling). We were aware that remodeling was underway and noticed several improvements. The lobby and breakfast area were very inviting and well taken care of. I'm not a breakfast eater but my husband is and enjoyed the wide variety of hot and cold offerings. We noticed that the pool area now has three BBQs for guest use and the area looked well taken care of. I'm sure families and/or long-stay guests will appreciate this and will save them from having to eat out in a restaurant. Nice friendly staff and comfortable room.

Upon arrival check-in was prompt and efficient. Desk staff was very friendly, helpful, and professional. Great service. I was a bit concerned in the elevator, as it looks like the floor had not been cleaned in a couple of years. It definitely needs a deep scrubbing. Room with double queens was very clean. It was a bit small but certainly adequate. Beds were moderately comfortable. Morning breakfast included standard scrambled eggs, sausage patties, and also biscuits and gravy. Not exactly unique, but plentiful, well prepared, and tasty. One of the better free breakfast we've had in a while. If this former motel just took care of a couple of little things, it would be fantastic. Our room did not have an ice bucket, and it did not have facial tissues The biggest thing I would say is that first impressions are very important. A dirty floor on the elevator does not make a good first impression! Overall, this best western was adequate and the employees bring it up a notch.

Staffs are fine but room and it's amenities are so filthy. I could see stains on couches, table and carpet. The room smells like someone spilled old milk. Carpets are so dirty that you can't walk around w barefoot.

Service was excellent. Staff were helpful and friendly. Room was clean. Loved that there was a microwave in the room. Breakfast was nice with exception of the scrambled eggs. Also that there is a mini mart a couple hundred yards away was very convenient if you forgot anything or need a little something extra. I will definitely use this hotel every time I visit.

This was our last night on a 10 day road trip and the best place we stayed during the entire stay. Too bad it was only for 1 night. The room was large and comfortable. The pool and jacuzzi weren't working but it wasn't an issue for us. Restaurants weren't close by so plan on driving a few miles to eat. If you are in the area and need to get some rest this would be a great option.

Our favorite place to stay when traveling from WA to CA., 9 hours from home. Woodland CA is a great little town, lots to see and treasures to find. Shadow Inn staff very helpful and welcoming even while doing renovation.

This will be our last visit to B.W. Shadow Inn. We stayed here twice before years ago but unfortunately this place took a nose dive. Hot Tub no longer works. Ice Machine did not work. Almost knocked backwards upon entering room as it smelled like a cat's litter box. I would have placed a bet that a Forensic Expert could have proven beyond a "Shadow" of doubt that the bottom sheet was soiled. If it wasn't, then I smelled right through it to the soiled mattress perhaps? Shadow Inn is just that: "A Shadow of its former self." Hopefully things turn around.

Clearly built by the lowest bidder, issues ranging from malfunctioning amenities to burnt out electrical sockets and uneven shower floors. Minute but critical. Unfriendly staff, next time I'm traveling through the area I'll avoid entirely.

This hotel has potential once the remodel is complete. It actually has a pretty cool lobby and center courtyard with firepit, seating, and social area. The rooms are old and dated, however they have started renovation on them. My room was not renovated and the towels were hard. The breakfast has a lot of room for improvement. I don't expect much, but the coffee should be hot and the coffee bar stocked. No excuse for that. There is little selection and they were out of a lot. The staff was very nice and the hotel was clean. The price was very reasonable, so in a pinch it works. I will check this option out again once the remodel is done.

Rugs worn and extremely stained. Furniture old and scratched. No desk. Not enough towels. One thin blanket. "Continental breakfast" was actually a cold bag of cheap pastries and a bottle of water. This place is a disgrace to the Best Western chain.

My husband and I have been traveling in CA the past two weeks and have spent time in Roseville, Watsonville, and now Woodland. We had excellent breakfasts, internet connections, comfy-beds, open lobbies, pools, hot tubs, and great hygiene standards. We decided to spend another “last night” in a BW near the Sac airport. What a disappointment! We were depending on the BW name although the price was even a little more than the other locations. We had poor internet, a “grab and go” breakfast where one of us was missing a yogurt, grimy doors, dated decor, and empty hot tub, and cable TV that has few active channels even though the menu says there are more. When I needed more coffee at the front desk, I was told there was a shortage and that I could only have two. Oh my! I thought a motel experience was to make you feel welcome and at home. I will check the reviews of individual Best Westerns very carefully now. Great job, BW Plus Orchid in Roseville and lovely BW Rose Garden Watsonville!! Better get it together in Woodland.

Horrible Experience. Got locked out of our room for 9-10 hours. General manager had the only master key and did not come to unlock the door until 11:30 at night because they were at a football game. The general manager never come by to say sorry for the inconvenience or anything. It was a nightmare.

Stayed 1 night in December while traveling from CA to WA. Hotel was very quiet and front clerk very nice, however that's where the high rating ends. The hotel is in desperate need of a makeover. Heavily stained carpet and chairs. Dingy wallpaper in the bathroom, electrical outlet barely connected to the wall - very scary to plug in anything!. No USB ports. Only 1 very thin blanket on the bed and it's December - we were freezing!. I gave 3 stars for location, quietness and the bed was comfy. I hope there will be a makeover in the near future.

It's hard to describe the state of the rooms. The first room had stains on the carpet, chairs, walls, ceiling, and every possible surface. The furniture was old, stained, and more fit for thrift store than a hotel that charges $100+ night. The bathroom ceiling had stains, and the carpet had not been vacuumed as we found garbage pieces all over. A corner of the room smelled like urine and when I pulled the sheets found stains on the sheets. We moved rooms. Room 2 had slightly less old furniture but still stains on carpets, chairs and the bathroom shower had mold and worst of all, walls with dark brown splatter (reach your own conclusion on that one). It was disgusting. We were told they were remolding and the rooms we had been assigned were not yet remodeled, why are they charging the same price for rooms so atrocious? The response, idk. I was dropping off kids at the airport for a 6am flight and because it was late I decided to stay. We have used the bathroom as if it's a truck stop one, no showers, and minimally touching surfaces. All the great reviews have to be fake, no one would give this hell hole a good review unless they were getting paid for it. Avoid at all cost. After complaining at the front desk our money was refunded. Even with a refund, this place is best avoided.

The staff are horrible. The rooms are dumpy. It is an absolute sh--hole. They over charged us when we walked in and said they would rectify the situation in the morning. The morning staff had no record of the problem and proceeded to charge us again. in total my credit card was charged for three nights stay when I was only there over night. My husband and I tried get ahold of the manager but they did not answer the phone. Head office said they would look into in but have not. The room was very dated and damaged. I will never use a Best Western again.

The room could have been cleaner. The beds were alright, but two queen beds are not big enough for 4 adults. Two king beds would have been better. The bathroom has hair all over the floor and toilet. The counters were very dusty.

My stay here was not bad and this property was really just an average hotel and that isn't a bad thing The property is older and fairly well attended to even with its age. There are definitely some areas in need of upkeep. The room was clean, with some wear and tear throughout, but not bad or anything questionable. The toilet seat wasn't attached securely, the couch was a bit gross, the carpet showing its and/or in need of a deep clean. That to say, this isn't the Ritz and my stay for one night was pleasant. The staff were generally pleasant and the hotel overall not a bad place. I have definitely stayed in Best Westerns that were flawless and stayed at BW properties in worse shape. This one seems to be right in the middle. (I am not measuring against BW Plus or Surestay)

Go somewhere else. For the price you pay you will get a stinky room with used sheets that had good knows what and hair all over the pillow. For a hotel that does not take pets it is very stinky. The front desk Maria was rude as heck. She told me they had no rooms available so she can jack up the price. I had to book in front of her from my app in my phone the a double room and she told me “oh it let you book a room? Don't come stay here. You will regret it.

This place is a nice location not too far from Sacramento it has a great pool and patio area next to nice for an evening hangout. Rooms are spacious and clean with super comfortable beds and pillows. The staff is extremely nice and helpful as well! Definitely on my list of places to stay again.

Eastside Tejanos overnighter to see Los Niteliters at The Ravine. Several of our couples stayed at The Best Western Shadow Inn. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Staff was very accommodating trying to fill our early check-in needs. Safe out of the way, yet convenient access stores and such. We'll stay again.

Double check your reservations...asked for 2 queen beds and they scheduled a King and were completely full and could not move us! Toilet leaking on arrival and ran the entire time we were there even though we told them about it.

This BW is right off I-5 and convenient. There is also a convenient gas station near the sight. The is an industrial area with trains traffic nearby. It does have a pool that I did not bother to use. We asked for a first floor room for the ease of being near our vehicle. The door was under the steps to the second floor. When we opened the door we were immediately hit with the strong smell of room deoderizer. The carpet was badly stained and looked dirty. The accent chairs were stained. The beds were neatly made and fresh looking except for what looked like stains on the sheets like someone might have walked on them. The AC performed well. We never did turn the tv on. We later discovered a used bar of soap and washcloth in the bath/shower. This did not inspire confidence in the Covid cleaning guarantee. The mini fridge performed well. All in all it was disappointing that a BW would be this shoddy. Most that we have stayed in have been much cleaner.

I feel like I've really lowered my expectations due to covid. I don't expect 4 star efforts. I understand things won't be cleaned every day. Shadow in is disgusting. The carpets have stains, the wallpaper is peeling back, there is either blood or mold on the ceiling, there is thick levels of dust just behind the night tables when plugging electronics in. I've never wanted to wear shoes in a hotel room before. Shadow Inn definitely changed that. 1 queen bed in this gross room was $220.

Only reason for one extra star is front staff is very kind and the housekeeping did the best they could, bathroom looked clean, with the horrible room. We went here because af the good reviews, they are false. I think the construction guys are given a discount for reviewing is all I can figure. So old and gross at over $100 WITH BW membership I expected much much more. We were put on the end of the construction worker rooms and I was a bit uncomfortable with men hanging out at their trucks in groups drinking beer. The water took literally 5-7 min of full blast running to get hot. In this day of drought very unacceptable. I arrived road tired and weary so stayed without looking for another place to be. I have itchy red spots on my neck. We had one thin blanket on the bed, while the air/heater worked it was loud. If this room had been $50 I would have expected this condition, not at $100+. We stayed at a different Best Western the next night and I insisted on seeing the room first, I didn't want to stay at a Best Western ever again but my husband has stayed at the next one before and assured me it was nice. Best Western corporate really needs to check this place out, even as a long time BW member and traveler I almost never went to one again. Two stars since the staff was kind and must have to deal with this so many times. When I went for towels to cover the chairs I could see the look on the receptionist face that she expected me to get upset. Too road weary too tired. Don't make the mistake we did, go elsewhere.

We stayed here one night on a road trip from Oregon to Phoenix. I'm a rewards member and most Best Westerns have been a reliable choice. This hotel looked great online and when we drove up. Great look and nicely kept grounds. Unfortunately, we were disappointed and a bit shocked by the room. Very tired, old worn out furniture and carpet. The carpet had years of use and stains. Though I'm sure the room was cleaned, the carpet looks dirty. We wouldn't walk on it in bare feet and wore socks or shoes the whole time. We had a 10 week old puppy with us, and though we paid a pet fee, we would not let her walk on the carpet either, so we crated her, carried her, or let her sit on the bed with us - not a great stay for the dog either. The staff was great, very good customer service. The person at the front desk was great and even let us try another room, but it was the same so we didn't move. I believe her name was Monica and she did her best to help us, but the rooms are just old, and need an update. I'm sure they were cleaned, just years of use shows. There were a few ants in the bathroom but otherwise ok. The on-site restaurant was very good, and great service there too. I hope this hotel improves the rooms. Until then, we wouldn't stay here again.

My Father died and I came back home to visit Family. You made our stay very enjoyable. We will come again for a visit. TY. My service dog was welcomed. I thank you for that. She had a good time also. TY again.

Needed a place to stay while going home. Wanted a drink, dinner, some TV and sleep. Got all of that. No issues with the stay. I rate this low in Value only because I'm a tight wad. Always want something for less.

We were on a trip from Texas to Washington - this was the top two places we stayed, very nice and friendly will stay again. excellent... Used my rewards, asked about a president day special was offered 10%...You must stop in ... great place

hotel was clean and all employees were very nice and helpful easy freeway access quite. nice restaurant and gas station on the property pool and fitness center closed because of covid. bag breakfast was a little sad

I appreciated the quiet laid-back environment the first few nights. However, after a new shift arrived, I was unable to stay for absolutely no reason. Employee went as far as calling a police officer.

friendly receptionist who was super nice and appeared to genuinely care about my trip. Quick and efficient check in with offer of snacks and menu of restaurants nearby. Room was clean with refrigerator, which was great to keep our food in.

Great location, value, and room cleanliness. Had a problem with hot water and were moved to another room. The to go breakfast was good. The location had easy access to the interstate. Food was limited but a short drive away.

Completely racist night desk workers. If you are a white person and want to be just simply treated like a customer then elsewhere is where you should stay. For no reason I walked in with my 2 children 6 & 4 and was ignored and disrespected. If I had not had reservations since traveling with kids in Covid times , than I would have just left and stayed elsewhere. I was ashamed to have to use real life examples of racism that evening. After driving for 8+ hours and being in a place we have never been, it was very upsetting for all..

From the moment the airport shuttle driver, Carlos, picked me up, I felt well taken care of and warmly welcomed. Comfortable rooms and convenient location. Will definitely be back, and am exploring using this location for future business meetings.

Have stayed at this location for work many times because of its proximity to SAC and it's shuttle service. Understanding that COVID-19 has put a wrench in many businesses, you shouldn't advertise a service and limit shuttle schedules when that is one of your main draws for customers staying there. Some customers travel coast to coast and have very early or late departures that the hotel shuttle seems to have a hard time accommodating. I had a reservation for Saturday night with a 4am shuttle request the following morning that was not scheduled by a hotel employee who called me personally to verify my need for the shuttle service and leave time. The front desk lady seemed in a panic about what to do when there was no information for me on the list. Had it not been for another regular traveling customer who uses their “Park and Ride” service frequently and WAS on the said shuttle list, I would of had to scramble at the last minute to make other pick up arrangements which would of been a little hard at 4am. Not everyone needs the shuttle, I get that, if you're offering it, honor it, regardless of the departure time. I did arrive at the airport on time and safe thanks to Carlos the driver!

Nice hotel, great service, nice room, comfy bed. Unfortunately we had some super noisy upstairs neighbors. I was awoken by the noise around 1 am, people walking across the floor, things banging, dropping. We are early risers and around 7:30 the noise started back up again. We went down for coffee and said something to the front desk help, her response was unfortunately there are people in the world who are just not very nice and have poor manners.

Okay I would definitely not refer someone to stay here as a vacation stay, it is tired and not as well cleaned as it could be (and should be given the coronavirus) but I had my own sanitizing products and was fun. It's near the interstate and can be loud, we were in a downstairs room and the people upstairs had several children, okay yep all that makes it a good one night layover stop. Downtown Woodland keeps getting more and more gentrified and that's fun. The star of this show though is the front desk person at this Best Western, professional in attitude, appearance and performance! Alyssa should be congratulated for taking her job seriously as well as representing her company in the best possible way. She was patient, empathetic and friendly, WITH EVERYONE! In a time when customer service isn't about the customer or service this was refreshing and greatly appreciated! Good job!

We arrived at this hotel, was told no discount for anything because of Covid. They also held 50 dollars for"essentials" I still haven't got back. I have never had that done before in a hotel with my credit card. The A/C didn't work in California in June. Hot hot. The toilet seat was broken. Front desk was ambivalent to anything. Do not recommend.

The only shinning star of this place was the staff, friendly and helpful. Room very small and outdated, carpet worn and needs replaced as does the broken down mattress. Front of motel is large empty packing lot, rather unkempt with an abandon resturrant. Bathroom so small you either had to step into the tub and stand behind the toilet to shut the door. Other guest hair stuck to bathroom floor tiles.

This is my favorite hotel to stay at in Woodland, CA. The staff & the property are wonderful. The addition of the 2 grills are great because I can Save a few dollars by cooking my own food on them. I like that the rooms are all outside & the pool and hot tub. But the staff are a huge reason why I return to this hotel.

First time here on our way back home, A typical class act Best Western Property. Clean, decent internet, Cheerful staff and I think in all our years traveling the most comfortable bed of any in aa hotel proprty. No hot breakfast, but to go bags with fruit, water, snacks.

As a stopover on a drive from Oregon to LA, this was fine. Basic room that was clean; the TV was the only thing that was modern. Quiet even though it's right next to the freeway. Breakfast was the usual stuff.

This place continues to make little upgrades and such that make it all the more comfortable. The location is convenient to highways and major roads but it is quiet. Very clean. Staff is very nice and helpful. The king rooms in particular are spacious and a great vlaue.

Absolutely filthy carpet, you know what type of hair in toilet. Well worn furniture but at an economy price the furniture would be ok. No regular coffee pouches just decaf, no sugar for coffee. Really! A $40 hotel if you really want to stay. Needs new management as with a little TLC it would be ok.

If you don't mind uncomfortable beds and strong cleaning solution odors, the Best Western Shadow Inn might be just the hotel for you. If the above two problems were absent, I would have rate this property at 4 stars (or bullets, or whatever Tripadvisor calls their ratings), based on their reasonable room rates and the level of amenities. The decor is a bit dated and there aren't the modern amenities one expects of this type of hotel (no bedside plugs or USB stations for charging, and few electrical outlets in general. Staff was great and room cleanliness was as expected. It seems to be in a noisy location, but I slept with earplugs, so the noise didn't bother me. Breakfast was typical for hotels at this price level: waffle maker, several cereals, fruit, yogurt, toast, bagels, hard boiled eggs, etc. On the plus side, they had a few hot items you don't always see: scrambled eggs and biscuits/gravy, but on the negative side, they advertised donuts on their in-room breakfast menu, but there were none. As a note, if they advertise donuts on their menu, I would have only given them credit for having fresh, individual donuts, not boxes of pre-packaged donuts from the grocery store. I plan on staying overnight in Woodland at least once a year, but my future stays won't be at the Shadow Inn.

This place is not the Taj Mahal, but it is a perfect choice for the weary driver. The well-lit parking area made us feel comfortable with our new vehicle just outside. The breakfast was just enough to get us out of bed and on the road.

These rooms need lamps!! And pictures on the walls!!! And better towels!! And have extra blankets available. But the lighting is substandard, however our service dog was welcome!! We had to get out of bed to turn off the only light which was by the door we will be finding a different hotel on our monthly trips between Anaheim CA and Bend Oregon.

It's not the newest or most tech savvy place to stay, but it does provide a restful and quiet respite from the modern rigors of travel. Second & third stay for us. Staff is friendly and welcoming. We used the park & fly option & it worked perfectly.

We usually dread the drive from Portland, OR to Temecula, CA because finding a good hotel for a reasonable price near the half-way point is difficule. We found the perfect place to stay now! The Best Western Shadow Inn was clean, had a wonderful hot tub (even in November), and a great continential breakfast. The hotel workers were pleasant, courteous, informative, and efficient. Thumbs up!

The property is clean and well maintained. There are lots of little extras (conversation areas, bbqs, clean and heated pool and spa area). Breakfast area is roomy and the breakfast was well maintained. The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and nicely maintained. I travel a lot and am a hotel snob. Usually I don't stay in one's that open outside but this one is an exception.

This is a very old and tired hotel. It had dirty carpets and stained pillows. Furniture was scratched and worn. Nothing good about the place. Also noisy, train and highway located adjacent to hotel. Wouldn't qualify as a descent motel 6.

This hotel is clean but has very dated decor. The vending machines didn't work and breakfast offering was very limited. Doesn't meet the kind of breakfast offered at other brands or even other BW locations. I would not stay here again.

Has a block of rooms for a wedding party n Check in was a mess. No rooms available. Some people did not have their reservations. Always a problem with check in for everyone. Didn't know about food truck hired n having the wedding party attend, about 40 people. And no set up in conference room. A total mess for everyone. And we had this all arranged from the beginning when we set up the block of rooms about a year ago. A total nightmare.

Our stay was average. There was some complications with the key card (twice) but it was fixed. The room need more outlets. Also the phone didn't work for making a call but worked for the front desk to call you if that makes any sense.

The rooms where basic; Furniture could use a lil painting or upgrade. The breakfast was pretty cool, they had breakfast burritos and Jimmy Dean's breakfast burgers. Staff was nice. Check inn was super easy!

The shower/bathtub facet was stuck half open, so water was running for the tub and shower. I couldn't adjust it as the facet was so loose I was afraid it would come off. The room was also smelled of heavy room freshener and was over powering. If you are going to use it, use the unscented kind.

Just passing through. I will not make this a destination the next time we travel. A good cup of coffee was lacking, non-working and missing parts to coffee machine in room were but a few inconveniences. Wi-fi very spotty, very few plugs in room for charging purposes. Hotel needs major upgrades.

First of all the service was great. Front desk staff attentive at check in ( morning staff was indifferent). This is only reason why earning any score. But the room decor and amenities make this a 2 star Motel. Small room was clean but no extra pillows, no crib, no blankets, no frills. Fridge made noise entire stay. Breakfast was minimal and I ended eating out. Diner next door closed. Location literally has highway 5 on one side and Highway 113 on the other. Great if going to airport but constant hmm of road all night. The price I paid for this Motel is my biggest complaint. Overpriced because BW brand but closer to Motel 6.

The guest attempting to check in before me had a disturbing experience: his confirmed reservation had been cancelled without notification. The explanation offered by the reception staff was even more disturbing: the motel was "overbooked" (how could that happen?) and as a result the hotel had cancelled reservations that hadn't been linked to a credit card. Fortunately, there were no problems with my registration which has handled smoothly. The motel is typical mid-century design, with two story buildings with exterior corridors. The buildings were freshly painted and appeared in good repair; there was a pool and large hot tub as well as a guest laundry. The restaurant adjacent to the property is closed. My room was attractive, clean and in very good (if not flawless) repair. Although the hotel website suggests that only mini-suites have refrigerators and microwaves, my room had both. There is no in-room safe and the only place to hang clothes is an open rack in the bathroom. Although my room was on the side closest to the freeway, it was silent; I heard nothing from adjacent rooms either, suggesting solid construction. The bed was soft but acceptable. The two side chairs were notably uncomfortable. Electrical outlets were sparse but room lighting was very good. The breakfast buffet was disappointing. Hot food options were limited to breakfast croissants and breakfast burritos that could be heated in the microwave and waffles; my breakfast croissant was soggy and tasteless. There were four cold cereals and a rack advertising instant oatmeal--but no instant oatmeal. The juice dispenser was out of orange juice, and at 7:30 AM, I took the last fork and the second to last knife. However, there were hard-boiled eggs, a small select of yogurt, oranges, tangerines and bananas. Check out was fast but both employees were indifferent as if just going through the steps. Neither wore a name tag, and neither asked about my stay or thanked me for it. The room was good if not great, but the reception staff and breakfast were disappointing. Adding in a base rate (even with Best Western Reward discount) of $153 for this weekend when hotels were fully booked, this property represents at best a mediocre value. I'd explore other options if I were to return to the area.

Nice, quiet old school Best Western. Stayed in the middle section, which would be the quietest section. Nice double bed, furniture comfortable but showing its age. Great shower. Would have gone higher with rating had it not been for breakfast, the "let's not refill the items" breakfast. Came down at the beginning of the last hour of breakfast and several items, fruits, muffins, for example, were out and no effort to refile. Not sure the employees huddled around the desk were working the breakfast or just waiting for rooms to clear, but not much movement to either refiill or clean. So it goes. We'd stay again, possibly because of location and price point, but we'd think hard first. So simple to solve such an easy problem.

We love this place. Stay each year and sometimes even for holidays. Great locale for traveling, shopping Woodland and great meals at the neighboring restaurant. Pool & hot tub area with gardens are beautifully kept! One point off for lack of pillow options in room this trip.

This was a middle of the road hotel. Staff was very friendly but the hotel is in need of some updates and their breakfast was so-so. Staff should have paid attention to the garbage and changed it more frequently. The air conditioner had mold on the vent (in the wall). The pool was okay but could have used some attention. One of the hot tubs was not working.

I've stayed here a number of times and have found the property to well cared for and consistently clean and comfortable with all the amenities a traveler needs. Good value convenient for travelers on the !-5.

Had a good experience on our one night stay at Shadow Inn. Well-tended grounds and property, spacious clean & comfortable room, good location, and surprisingly quiet since it's next to the freeway. Breakfast included but hubby doesn't do continental so we went elsewhere. First time staying in Woodland. Nice little town, will be back on our return trip.

It's a great alternative for staying before going to the Sacramento Airport (SMF). Easy access to Interstate 5. Clean and comfortable. It has older decor but is completely functional. The restaurant in the parking lot is shutdown.

Leering truckers hung outside their second floor rooms, smoking, drinking, and leering at the young girls swimming in the pretty pool below. Their presence made me very uncomfortable. I didn't use the pool because of them, and so I felt like I wasted money.

Their washer cost $1.75 and $1.25 for the dryer. You have to borrow the card key that is logged. Two inflexibilities: They accept only the credit card of the person who booked the room even if that person is present and showed her ID. The Front Desk Staff was aware that I used the washer dryer right away. Yet, I was reminded while waiting in the lobby for the dryer timer to elapse that the limit is two hours. The switch in front of the sink is modern (ref. Blue icon in the bottom center that looks like a clock at 12 o'clock in a square). Complimentary breakfast has typical food choices. What's positively different are the kiwis.

I felt like I got ripped off for $172 for a lousy room. Small room, even smaller bathroom. Much construction. Entry to office blocked due to work on the door. Restraunt on ground was closed. Just an overall bad visit.

Stayed at many Best Westerns, so was quite disappointed in this one. For the good part-really nice staff and easy freeway access! The rest-OH MY! Especially for cost!!☹️ Room was decent, but needed a bit more cleaning,especially carpet! Only two plugs in bed area for electronic charging. Breakfast was really merger, more like a continental type breakfast. Choices were breads, donuts, cold hard boiled eggs, yogurt, & make your own waffles.

I visit California every year in June. Whether I fly or drive, I always stay at Best Western Shadow Inn. I am always well satisfied with these stays and can count on a nice room for a decent price, The town is a little less hustle and bustle than Sacramento, but I can jump on I-5 and get to my destinations fast. There are plenty of places to eat in this town and I am well satisfied with my choice of accommodations.

I went to Woodland for an overnight and some time away from the city, and this hotel was perfect for that isolated feeling. The hotel is convenient to I-5; it's literally next to the exit. However, that being the case, there is some freeway noise, and it's at least a mile to Woodland's Main Street (which is great, by the way, and worth a trip). The BW in Woodland is clean, large, and great for traveling families. It has an outdoor heated pool in the center of the hotel, and it is fairly large, great for the kids. When I was there, the kids were going nuts in the pool, really loved it. There is also a hot tub. The only real complaint I have about the place was breakfast. Usually BWs offer some sort of hot dish (eggs and meat and potatoes), but this one did not. The only low/no-carb option was (you guessed it) hard-boiled eggs. And now that the restaurant next door has closed, that made it hard to make the most of my complimentary breakfast. Overall, though, I think it's a good hotel, especially if you're traveling with kids on I-5. It doesn't get much more convenient than the Shadow Inn.

Have stayed here multiple times and the Shadow Inn never disappoints. Great staff, super comfortable beds, wonderful pool and two hot tubs all make for a great stay. Didn't get to try breakfast this time as had to be at the airport by 5 am. Highly recommend.

The restroom was too small and cramped to move around in for myself, having a handicap. The closet area was too smakl for our things. The vanity mirror was 1 medium size lighted mirror just for one person to use at a time. There was no hairdryer in the room. When we called the front desk for one, none were available. We got one the next day from the very nice cleaning lady. Ice machinecwas not working. Other guests were out side our door smoking on the stairs..

Smoke odor made this a very poor choice for me. Otherwise this is an older hotel with predictably smaller and darker rooms than the newer chain hotels. Staff was pleasant and facility was clean other than the residual odor from years of smoking.

This motel does everything right. Friendly helpful staff. Good clean rooms with nice furniture and fixtures- dated looking but well kept up. Very nice exterior. Good pools including the hot tubs. For the hotel rating they have a good included breakfast. Lots of on site free parking for vehicles of all sizes and types up to big rigs. I booked this place through hotels.Com. in speaking with hotel staff I learned that the site was charging me $22 per night more than the best deal rate I could get direct from the the hotel. I called hotels. Com and got that fixed. If you plan on staying here look up best rate on the external sites and then phone the hotel directly. They will match or beat the external site price. Like most bookings via external sites the front desk will only do so much for you (ie late check out) for an external site booking and will do more for a direct booked stay. Bottom line. It is 12 miles north of Sacramento airport. Not in Sacramento but only 15 minutes away in Woodland, CA. The town is as nice and friendly as this hotel with lots of restaurants and interesting small retail. THIS HOTEL IS GOOD VALUE, SAFE AND VERY NICE.

Check in was fast and the staff were friendly and welcoming. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. All the usual room amenities are in place. There is are no dining facilities at this location, but Woodland has several good restaurants nearby. The continental breakfast had several items to choose from and they had an attendant who kept everything clean, orderly and stocked. Our room was on the outside of the facility on the ground floor and was very quiet. The rooms on the inner court may not be as quiet come summer as that is where the pool and got fun are located.

We stated at the motel last Wednesday and when we got to our destination realized that my husband left his shirt at the hotel. We stopped at the motel a little bit ago, on our way home and asked if they'd found his shirt. It wasn't in the lost and found so the woman at the desk said to wait, she'd have the carts checked. There is was, put in a bag on a cart. We were able to pick up his shirt and go on our way. This was our 2nd stay at this hotel and we would stay there again.

This motel is just off the highway, but it was quite quiet which made for a wonderful night's sleep. The front desk staff were smiling, extremely welcoming and friendly. Both check-in and check-out went quickly and efficiently. Only thing to mention, was my credit card was charged $10 over the receipt but that was later refunded. That was not mentioned when I checked in. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The restaurant near the motel was not open, so we did have to drive to downtown for dinner. The breakfast buffet was good - eggs, sausage, potatoes, waffles along with fresh fruit, yogurt and cereals. We would not hesitate to recommend this motel to others and will stay here again when we are traveling in the area.

I stayed here with my two kids for my son´s baseball tournaments and the hotel is what was expected. The rooms were comfy, the pool was a huge hit and the breakfast was good, however I would of liked to see some other healthier options, eggs, bacon....etc.

Been staying here over the years. Clean, reasonable an off the 5. But.....this was the first time I stayed in the courthouse next to the pool on a Saturday night with the folks all going to the Scottish Games! Too loud. My suggestion, opt for the parking lot rooms. Much more quiet!

Normally I only post good things to reviews, if I have a bad experience I just normally don't go back. I picked the Shadow Inn based on Trip Advisor reviews --- I could see that it was an older property and expected the same. Convenient to the airport is correct, just don't stop along the way as the area of Woodland you drive through is very dingy --- bordering, in my opinion, on unsafe. Check in was fine, room is dated but clean. Now my comments: 1. I arrived late and asked for a recommendation for a restaurant to eat at. They suggested Kitchen 428. Given the sketchiness of the trip from the airport, I did not want to drive so I asked about getting a taxi. The front desk clerk said she would call and then call my room to let me know an approximate time as she warned me it could be up to 30 minutes. I checked in at 7:30 and the clerk phoned my room and said the tax would be there at 8:10. 2. I waited until 8:20 when I asked the front desk clerk what was up, she said she would call them. She then proceeded to handle guests who were constantly checking in rather than simply asking them to wait for 30 seconds while she called the cab. 3. She eventually called the cab at 8:32 and she said they did not pick up their phone. I asked for the cab number to call on my cell. When I called, the cab dispatcher said that she was told to go to a different hotel --- I doubt the front desk receptionist would have got her own hotel wrong, but I am not sure. 4. I then asked the cab dispatcher if she could come pick me up. She said she would send someone over right away. Woodland is a VERY small town, so 15 minutes later I phoned back and asked where the cab was. I was told that there were only two cabs and they got busy. 5. It was now too late to get to a restaurant for dinner, so I opted to go back to my room and order pizza --- would not have finished my night properly unless my magnetic key did not work (along with 3 other people I noticed while waiting for my non-existent cab). LESSONS TO BE LEARNED: DON'T STAY AT A HOTEL (BEST WESTERN SHADOW INN) THAT REFERS YOU TO BUSINESSES THAT HAVE NO CONCEPT OF CUSTOMER SERVICE. DON'T STAY AT HOTELS WHO HAVE NO CLUE THEMSELVES AS TO CUSTOMER SERVICE. IF YOU DON'T HAVE TO, DON'T STAY IN WOODLAND --- SUFFER THE DRIVE AND STAY IN SACRAMENTO.

The Shadow Inn featured a continental breakfast in the lobby with lots of choices. It was well tended and the area was kept very clean by a member of the housekeeping team. The desk clerk on duty at breakfast time was very pleasant and truly seemed to enjoy her job at the Inn. We found our room to be clean and prepared with comfortable bedding, four pillows per bed, and the usual white towels you expect to find in a motel-style inn. Added amenities were the pools, the elevator, and complimentary newspapers.The Inn's proximity to the Interstate 5 was both an advantage and a disadvantage, though. Access was very easy but road noise was audible even from a room that faced into the courtyard. As snowbirds heading north, we found the Inn to be a very reasonable overnight stop. The road noise did not keep us from sleeping, but we could definitely hear it before falling asleep and upon waking up.

Stayed here prior to flying out of Sacramento Airport. Very convenient and easy access to freeway to airport and other areas. Very quiet and comfortable with very good service and staff. Easy access to local restaurants and Starbucks and other essentials of life. Close also to shopping and malls in Sacramento and Roseville.

It is a very nice and quiet location, close to freeways yet not noisy. Safe and secure. The staff are always friendly and welcoming. I look forward to my stays at this BW. The rooms are pretty big and good quality mattresses. Thank you always

Made a quick overnight stop on our way home from Disneyland. The front desk staff was great and very polite. The rooms were nothing fancy and perfect for our needs. My kids loved the heated outdoor pool and 2 separate hot tub. Breakfast was mainly breads, donuts and waffles with a few cereal options. Good for a hotel continental breakfast, but not fancy. Easy I-5 access.

We've stayed here several times and keep coming back. Nice staff at check in. April found our reservation and processed us in quickly. We were traveling with an item on our van roof and were concerned about overnight security. She suggested where to park on the property as the parking lot is shared with other businesses and we were happy to see our load intact the next morning. This motel is in an area by itself. Not part of a ‘motel row'. Our double queen room was spacious and clean. Microwave and small refer (no freezer). Large bath vanity, plenty of hot water. Towels were newer and thicker than lots of other chain hotels. The toilet and tub/shower combo are in their own room, sink vanity is in the main room so not much privacy when washing up and noisy if the hair dryer is being used. Breakfast was great. Jimmy Dean sausage croissants, waffles, oatmeal's, hard cooked eggs, pastries, cereals, fresh fruit. Smallish eating area, Free local paper. Pool and hot tub are in an inner courtyard with nice landscaping around them. We didn't use either. We'll be back. It's great mid way stopping point. A reservation is helpful as it fills up quickly.

Pros: Great room size, ground are well kept, quiet and the breakfast was amazing. Cons: The rooms could really use a deep clean and management is lacking. When we arrived check in was very speedy and courteous. We got our stuff in the room and ran off to dinner because we were starving. We came back and upon closer inspection there were things that were noticeably dirty. The hanging lights look like they hadn't been touched in weeks and the bathroom had some black mold in the corners and in the caulking of the shower. I brought it up to them in my review and haven't heard anything back which surprises me. The continental breakfast was excellent and I will say the beds were comfortable. I would stay here one more time to see if improvements were made and if nothing improved I would never be back.

On a dark and rainy night we hit a curb and needed to be towed in to Les Schwab. They got our car moveable. The heater core on our car also burst and the Jeep Dealer fixed it under warranty on a timely basis. Bad reasons for the stop but nice response from local services.

Average place, average rooms, Nothing outstanding at all. Tired comes to mind. We were shocked and disappointed that the desk staff were acting as if checking in, answering questions etc was something they had to do to keep a job. No "friendly feeling". Went to the lobby to have breakfast at 9:12am and crickets, nobody there and no food! Desk staff simply looked at us and said "we stopped serving at 9AM" boom thats it! Two stars because we got a fair price. Otherwise, one star

Nice, friendly, helpful staff. Rooms are clean but somewhat outdated. Big flat screen tv's. I did not use the pool or hot tub so no comment on those. Included is a typical continental breakfast including waffles, cereal, breakfast burritos, fruit.

We have stayed at many Best Westerns around the U.S. The staff here is by far the best! Thus was a hassle free stay. Normally on New Years eve hotels are a huge hassle. No only was the no hassle, there was no New Years reverie. Will stay here again!

Stayed one night. LIKES: Friendly, professional staff at desk Modest breakfast included Clean Easy freeway access DISLIKES: Somewhat noisy heat/ac unit under window Mattress felt a bit worn Bathroom sink lighting SUMMARY: Not a bad place to stop for one night if you don't mind the 1970s motel vibe. Proximity to freeway means lots of potential car noise if not running the HVAC. Lighting over double-sink vanity was really bright but poorly aimed so that it was in your eyes and not on your face. You won't mistake this for a Hampton Inn, but for one night it would do the trick.

After a very long day of driving I pulled off the freeway and was pleased to see a Best Western sign at the first stop light from the off ramp. The reception area was welcoming and the staff were very helpful when I asked for recommendations for a place to have dinner. I was impressed with the size and location of my room. The vanity area was huge and the room had a microwave and refrigerator. As close to the freeway as the hotel is, I didn't hear any traffic noise. The only drawback for me was there are no restaurants near the hotel. The staff provided great directions to the downtown area - about 3 miles away. The full-service restaurants are clustered downtown and in the opposite direction are many fast-food restaurants. I will definitely stop at this Best Western on my next trip to California.

Very nice hotel, has the feeling of a little oasis, but very accessible from the freeway. Has a beautiful, open pool area in the middle. The whole thing is structured in a very open and inviting way. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

Driving to OR, made good halfway stop with small kids. They let a relative prepay by email for room so easy check in for us at late arrival. Good variety of breakfast items and area open later Sat morning helped.

Our overall stay at the BW Shadow Inn in Woodland was unremarkable this time. Our arrival, room selection, breakfast experience was disappointing. Yes, this is an older hotel in a tougher location, but that is all the more reason to be exceptional, not indifferent. Love the BW brand but will reconsider this venue.

Great spot right off I-5. Quick on and off the freeway. Next time we would ask for the second floor (there is an elevator) because you can hear people walking above you. The room was spacious and just a short drive to the Old Town which is a great place to eat, catch a beer, and walk around to stretch your legs. The staff was very friendly and helpful Gave us a great recommendation for dinner at Mojo's which included a 15% discount. One of the few hotels we've stayed at that provided TWO luggage racks. Breakfast was a bit "ho hum" but standard for BW. Packaged oatmeal is the worst. I can't stop mentioning that the shampoo bottles are too small for two people and I really miss "hair conditioner" as a standard ammenity. But the price is right.

The staff was helpful. Quick check-in. The check-in clerk tried very hard to work things out with us. She did a great job. The room was clean. The television is very small for the room. The internet was extremely SLOW. We were here on business and asked if they had good internet but after checking in and starting Gotomeeting the internet was extremely slow. We had real problems. I checked out the speed from four companies. Each time I checked it out the internet was slow slow slow. We could not even start Gotomeeting. I would say to the management, You have a good motel but your internet sucks! Business people need good internet. Your staff is good but you are going cheap for business people who come to your Best Western and need to do business online. This is a fixable problem. Fix it!

I like to stay here when I am flying out of Sacramento Airport. The rooms are clean and quiet and the staff is friendly and helpful. There is plenty of parking and if you need a snack there is a gas station quick mart near by.

First time staying in Woodland instead of Sacramento. The hotel was convenient to the airport. The rooms were quiet, clean, staff was knowledgeable and helpful. We traveled to Davis and traffic was much better from Woodland than Sacramento. Overall experience was great.

Helpful staff, clean rooms except the carpet requires replacing. I always stay here due to convenience. Gas station/convenience store nearby. Hot tub and pool. You can request a bag breakfast if you leave early before they serve a contenetal breakfast.

This is a nice, clean hotel. It is conveniently located only 10 minutes from the Sacramento airport. It has comfortable beds and well decorated rooms. There are coffee makers, microwaves, and small refrigerators.

Nothing special here. It is an older property but well priced and easy to find - just off the highway. It was well maintained and clean. The breakfast was scanty, even for a Best Western, but enough to get us on our way. All in all, a pleasant if forgettable stop on the way to somewhere else, though I must say the town itself was quite charming and full of beautiful old houses. The desk recommended and gave as a discount for Kitchen 428 which was very good.

The Hotel is clean, comfortable, and easily accessible to the freeway. We always stop here on our way home from Washington state. There's lots of local dining a few blocks away. There's a nice pool which is great after a long, hot drive.

Room was clean and well-maintained. Housekeeping did a good job with servicing the room in a timely manner and kept items well-stocked. My advice is to request a room on the south side of the property, otherwise you might end up on the noise freeway side.

Could use a few more outlets, but we made it work. Great staff at check in. Good hot breakfast but wish they also had eggs. Friendly people at check in. Well laid out, easy parking too. Appreciate having a room on 1st floor too.

Nice clean moderate motel right off interstate 5 in a small town. Room was clean and had comfortable mattress and new big screen TV. This is an older property but it has been maintained well and kept up to date. Parking and access to the room was very good. Quiet for being so close to highway.

We have been staying at this facility over the last 30 years and still recommend it to anyone traveling through this area. Some of the decor is dated but the rooms are very clean and you won't find a more helpful staff anywhere.....they are all great. The inner courtyard is beautifully maintained. The area is a bit industrial and the restaurant that was on the grounds is no longer open but there are many good choices within 1-3 miles.The coffee needs to be better (stronger) and the wifi is weak but it works.....

We enjoyed our stay at Bestwestern and will continue to stay at these hotels if they can be found on our route of travels. All personnel we interacted with were friendly, courteous and helpful. The rooms were clean, well furnished and had comfortable beds.

The front desk staff, housekeepers and maintenance crew is fairly kind. They really don't care what level membership you have (diamond select). I've requested a quiet room. Not by the freeway side, etc. I guess you get what you paid for. The owner needs to renovate their rooms pretty badly. The middle section, the landscapers do a nice a job.

Employees are incredibly pleasant, professional, and welcoming. The beds are comfortable, bathroom is a bit small, but totally functional. The pool area is cute, small but nicely set up. The room felt a bit muggy, but I know that this is part of the deal (often). They have a free continental breakfast with a waffle maker, some fruit, yogurt and pastries. The coffee was, not good, but there's a convenience store in the same property - no big deal.

Everything met expectations. I was not disappointed with anything, however, at no point did I feel people were going above and beyond - which I always like. One of the check out clerks was attentive, but the other was clearly pre-occupied. IF she were o a break or busy with something else, she whould not be behind the counter in uniform and name tag.

The BW Shadow Inn accommodates trailers which was a prerequisite during my daughter's apartment move and that worked out great. The BW staff is friendly and the room was initially clean upon check-in. However, they fail to tell you that there is no 24-hour maid service so if you are not out of the room by 10 am prior to the contract maid service finishing their shift, your room will not be cleaned and stay dirty. I was also surprised with an additional $10 charge on top of my online total stay cost. While friendly, the initial night shift receptionist could not explain the additional charge and said it was a "hotel tax" even after showing her the online statement. A day-shift receptionist during check-out later explained that this was a security deposit charge and it will be reimbursed back to your credit card. I've never experienced these issues at the many other Best Westerns. Besides these two incidents, which the staff were apologetic explaining this was a smaller BW with less traffic, the rest of my stay was nice.

I stay in Woodland area 1-2 times a month. I have tried other chains in town, and for all over experience this is my favorite. It is clean, quiet, simple and cozy. The staff are friendly and welcoming all while respecting your privacy. The rooms are clean and large and Internet works nicely and the water in bathrooms is good. I feel safe and happy hear. Would recommend for families or people wanting a good value. I tried others and am happy to have found a good second home away from home for my trips to this area. Thank you Shadow Inn

My husband had to catch and early flight out of Sacramento so we stayed the night before at this hotel. It was wonderful! Staff is great! Beds are comfy and pool great way to unwind at the end of the day.

I usually always use Best West end Hotel, but this experience has made me tho k again... This is the third bad experience with renting with Best Westerns. Room wasn't clean, out dated decor, I got bite up by I don't know what. Hotel needs updating and cleanliness.

We have visited the Shadow Inn multiple times through the years as a base for airport departures and layover after arrival! Woodland is a quaint town with an old downtown with many restaurants! It is close to Sacramento Airport and the motel has actually improved in every way in recent years! Friendly staff, well maintained grounds and conveniently located at I 5 on ramp!

We stopped on our road trip and were so glad we did. Cece was amazing and such a delight to speak with. She got us a room and we were in our room quickly. The room was clean and nice and it was a great hotel. We went swimming in a great pool and loved the two jaccuzzi's. The only down side were all the smokers at the hotel. I have asthma and people were on the balconies smoking. It was hard to breath and we did not stay out long. The bed was comfy and the shower was nice. The breakfast left a little to be desired but Cece was there again in the morning and was so great. Thank you for making us feel so welcome.

This is a clean, comfortable property. It is five blocks out of the main part of Woodland. Property is quiet. Nice pool and hot tub area. Room is clean. Property is well taken care of. Staff is friendly, though they didn't offer me the additional 500 points to my Platinum status(the next two blue BW's did). Small breakfast area, with waffles, toast, sweet rolls. Not enough room to offer the eggs and such that a number of these properties do have.

Very nice, small motel. This is a property that you drive up close to your room, rather then go through the lobby. We stayed there one night and it had the things that are most important to us when we stay at a motel: cleanliness and quiet. Staff was really nice, check-in was quick and easy. Our room faced the highway but we didn't hear a thing once the door was closed. I'd stay here again, anytime.

As the title says, it's really convenient to where we're going. We were there to watch a concert in Cache Creek Casino which is 24 miles from this property. I personally choose this one as we always stay in Best Westerns (BW member since 2008) & we're always happy staying with Best Westerns. We stayed last week during the Memorial Weekend. We were greeted by the PM shift desk clerk, it was an ok interaction with her. It took for us to check in almost 10 minutes and since we are not from that area, we have so many questions, like where to eat, how to get to downtown, (please note you will not have a problem asking where is a gasoline station as they are literally next to Chevron) When an elderly couple came to the lobby to check in, and we are still asking some questions to the lady at the front desk when she told us "c'mon guys, I still have people to check in" as if we are just being nosy. Anyway, I'm just saying this, because this is the first time I ever heard like that telling your guest to step aside so she could finish her work. Not a biggie! Our room is large that aside from the wet bar, the bathroom sink is outside of the bathroom itself. We love the bed, so comfortable as well as the pillows. Room is immaculately clean, bathroom is clean no complaints at all with cleanliness. Kudos to the housekeeping department. Although, our room is on the other end of the building facing the ramp of I-15, we did not heard anything at all. Grounds are well-kept and the pool area is huge.They have the swimming pool, whirlpool and the hot tub, all in one place Nice!!! Luckily when we stayed at this property, they were almost empty so its kind of quiet, being quiet is really a big factor for us and we really did enjoyed the pool. Good job to their maintenance and gardeners. Keep it Up! Really impressed in this department. Now comes the breakfast! I'm very much disappointed with breakfast, I guess they could do better with breakfast offerings. We came down to eat the breakfast on our 1st day and lo and behold! we only found some pastries, donuts, boiled eggs coffee is mediocre, juices, yogurts,waffles, no fruits, I did not see a water fountain which you could find in any Best Westerns, as an avid fan of Best Western, I always look in the breakfast category. So we decided to drive and headed towards the downtown area to get a good breakfast, We did not bother to get the breakfast on the 2nd and 3rd day, so I don't know if there were changes everyday. Checkout was a breeze, friendly front desk staffs, I saw 4 staffs that day and all are friendly with a big smile. I could give them 5 stars if they only have a good breakfast But still we'll be back in the future when we have to see another concert in Cache Creek Casino.

My go to lodging is Best Western, they always are on their game. The price and location is very important to me. I always look for the Best Western along my travel route to plan my overnight stay. I will continue to stay at Best Western when ever I can.

Was on a three week extended vacation , heading home , was tired and decided to stay another night on the road , have been staying in mostly Best Westerns because the rooms are nice and have all we need.

Stayed one night at this location, because of flying out of Sacramento in the morning, to go back home. Room was comfortable and clean, but dated. Shower was great. When we got up in the morning, we packed the car and headed over to the check out desk for some quick breakfast before we left. We gave them our key, said hello to 3 employees standing there and proceeded to the alcove for breakfast. But guess what? No breakfast. We did not look for the time on a Saturday, but it was a few minutes after 9 and the place was bare. No recommendations as to where we could go have something to eat. They just stood there and looked at us. They wished us a good day, as we left. Stopped for breakfast on our way to the airport.

Very clean place to stay. Have parking for every vehicle cars, trucks, truck and trailers. Great for truck drivers was able to fit a 53 footer easy. Breakfast is good staff is helpful. Will be staying here for all my runs and stack my points.

What a busy in hotel . I,ve stayed here on a few occasions and not once have i had a bad experience . The staff where very friendly from front of house to the bedroom staff , always a greeting for you even when the place was very busy .Nothing was every a problem from questions about the local area to where to eat locally . I watched staff go out of there way for other guest which not many other hotel do theses days . I will stay there again for sure and recommend this hotel to all friends

My friends recommended this motel, so I stayed there one night going up to Eugene and again on my trip back. I am glad that I stayed there. The staff were very friendly and helpful. My room was very clean and comfortable. This motel is close to downtown Woodland and had easy access to the freeway.

Quite a way to available restaurants. You might be better off ordering pizza! Room was nice, and a great breakfast. Location isn't the most convient. Close to I-5 but a bit far to the business district.

Hotel staff was very nice, check in was easy and hotel is very tidy. One exit down the highway had lots of eatery's. Close to the airport as well. My only complaint would be Best Western requiring me to have a review of at least 200 words. Get real head office.

It ticks all the boxes. Good service, clean rooms, helpful staff, good location, hearty breakfast and great value. We would definitely return. It's handy for a visit to Sacramento as well. The swimming pool was warm enough to swim mid April and the spa even better.

This is a nicely maintained, clean "older" style motel = two story, outside entrances to each room. There is a railroad close by as is I-5. The staff are very helpful. If you are looking for a clean, moderately priced motel in Woodland, this one is worth consideration.

This was our third stay at the Shadow Inn while travelling through this area. The rooms are consistently clean with standard appointments of a Best Western hotel. We were welcomed by desk staff who gave us a quiet room away from traffic although noise has not been an issue during any of our stays here. The breakfasts are very good for this type of facility. Plenty of parking and security has never been an issue here. Will,be glad to recommend this facility and also will not hesitate to stay here again in future.

Problems all around. From booking to leaving. We got two rooms and after a long day of driving and tired kids we finally got checked into our room late at night. After unpacking all our luggage, they called us back to the office and told us they messed up on our room and we needed to switch rooms. Really???And that's my fault? With little kids? The lady that was in charge that night was very rude and so NOT caring. I believe her name is Lena or Lea somthing like that.So we had to go pack everything back up and carry my sleeping kids to a different room. I was not happy at all! I will not stay here again and do not recommend it.

We needed trailer parking, so this worked. Rooms could be cleaner, carpet was dingy, needed electrical outlet for cpap machines, had to unplug clock and stretch cord across mattress, sweet rolls for breakfast don't work for diabetic

We checked in late and staff graciously accommodated our request for a ground floor room that we could drive up to. While a freeway ramp is nearby, we weren't bothered by noise. The decor is a bit dated, but the room was spacious and immaculately clean, with a comfortable bed and soft pillows. Two luggage racks were provided, which was a big help. The pool and spas looked clean and inviting, but we just didn't have time to enjoy them this trip. Some reviews noted the lack of restaurants nearby, but there is a large mall just two exits south on the I-5 freeway with several casual dining options.

Spacious room, safe location, quiet, ample parking. Cleanest bathroom I've ever seen. The chrome was sparkling. Heat and a/c worked well. Continental breakfast hours were too early, 5-9am, but a continental breakfast is not appealing anyway. Staff was professional and efficient. The staff made sure to gently remind party goers at the pool that the pool was closing in ten minutes. He remedied the situation nicely. We stayed on the way up the state and on the way back down the state.

The front desk staff was welcoming, friendly, and efficient. Our room was exactly what we requested and to our delight, right next to the pool and hot tub. The room was very comfy and we had a great stay. I almost wish we had been staying for longer than one night. We had a great breakfast the next morning and were on our way well rested and ready for another day's travel.

I recently stayed at the Best Western Shadow Inn in Woodland CA. The staff were very helpful and friendly. I needed directions and they provided excellent directions over the phone. The check in was pleasant and the ladies were happy and positive. The flowers all around the grounds were amazingly beautiful and made the stay very pleasant.

We were extremely satisfied with our night stay. The room was comfortable and airy. The heated pool and 2 spas were pleasantly fun, relaxful. The breakfast was convenient and delicious. It also allowed us to get on the road and continue our journey, more quickly, as we didn't have to stop anywhere else for breakfast. We were certainly happy that we chose to stay at BW Shadow Inn, Woodland, California.

The room smelled old and like must. The furniture completely blocked the air conditioner, preventing access to the controls. Hair in sheets, blankets, faucet and towel rack. Other hotels were booked so they sent us to this place because “it's rated #1 in Woodland.” NEVER AGAIN!

This hotel is about 3 miles north of Woodland. The hotels in Woodland were very expensive and mostly full. As others have stated, the breakfast was semi light. They had egg McMuffin type breakfast sandwiches that were okay if you didn't nuke them too much in the microwave. The staff was very nice and the rooms comfortable. We had to change rooms ( 249 to 250 ) because the heater didn't work. Fair price, we paid $101 + taxes. Good elevator.

After a weeklong road trip, we stayed at the Shadow Inn prior to an early flight out of Sacramento Airport. The Property is well maintained, clean, with a hospitable staff. Very easy access to I-5. There is a restaurant in front of the property, but the more adventurous should check out some of the great dining options in Old Town Woodland (Main Street about 5 minute drive). In-house breakfast buffet is basic but adequate. Rooms on the interior courtyard minimize traffic noise from I-5. However, to minimize risk of noisy pool-users, ask for a unit away from that feature. We will definitely return.

We selected this hotel based on reviews and price. Pretty landscaped courtyard pool area with hot tubs, rooms surrounding it. Our room was clean, bed comfortable, bedding comforter perfect weight for us, fridge quiet, table and chairs convenient for eating or game playing. Elevator placement awkward, but adequate. Definitely not upscale modern, but nice; for the price (AARP senior $91 plus tax) we were satisfied with the value. We will probably stay here again on our trips from Oregon Coast to So Cal to visit family.

On our I-5 trek we wanted to avoid Stockton and Sacramento, so we opted for Woodland. Quite an interesting small town...a nice discovery! The hotel is right on the freeway, so be sure to ask for an inside room. Nice breakfast and a friendly staff! We will return. Venture a few blocks south to check out Main Street!

We stayed at the Shadow Inn in Woodland CA on our trip back to Phoenix from Vancouver, BC. The hotel is older but well kept, the room was clean and all amenity's worked as they should. The internet worked well, my only complaint is they serve a continental breakfast and not a hot breakfast. I would not hesitate to stay at the Shadow Inn again.

Best Western Shadow Inn is a affordable and nice hotel to stay in. I highly recommend staying here if you are driving and need a comfortable overnight stay. Woodland is a nice town that has many restaurants to eat at.

Convenient to freeway and SMF. Restaurant and fuel on-site. Plenty of parking. Can be noisy in the morning due to early departures. Breakfast a bit lacking but the coffee is actually really good! CTV is a bit limited.

Power went out, freezing in room, no extra blankets, no shower, no breakfast, should have been offered a voucher or something. I? think they should have checked on guests to make sure they were ok, offered half price so that was nice but really thought room should have been comped. Bed wasn't great, room a little seedy, usually expect more from Best Western

Provides quiet room back off highway. Coffee maker, refrigerator and microwave provided. Great breakfast options. Lots of parking but lot could use more street lights. 24 hour staffing of front desk very helpful.

Don't waste your money here. The hotel is clean and nice, but the rooms are tiny, the bed is impossible to sleep on they are so hard, the pillows are horrible, the A/C make a roaring noise every time it turned on. They have a nice outdoor pool area but unless that is what your looking for, go down the road to the Comfort Inn.

Best Western is having a special...10,000 points for a free room. We decided on this Best Western for a trip we were taking. A big mistake. The free room here was so small, right on a busy road..very run down. This hotel is in an industrial area with no restaurants close by other than a small diner. My suggestion is to stay in the area where Costco is...there are many newer hotels and lots of restaurants to choose from. The breakfast here was also a joke. Limited selection...no fresh fruit. This was such a waste of my “free night”. Tonight on the second night of our trip we are staying at a wonderful Best Western in Cottage Grove, OR. Very roomy..and friendly staff. Stay away from the Best Western Shadow Inn!

Great staff. pleasant and helpful - Old Property well maintained - Convenient to Interstate - Close to Sacramento Airport, but not too close - I will stay here every time I am in the area - Great "Continental" breakfast -

This was a last minute trip with my daughter in law and 4 year old grandson to do some holiday shopping. The place has been around for some time (I actually stayed there in 1990!) but they have done a great job keeping it current and comfortable. It was clean. Beds were comfy. Staff very friendly and helpful. We felt safe. Even though it was late November we used the pool and hot tub- both well maintained and clean. The breakfast was up to standard as well. It was evident that this Best Western is well run.

We stayed one night in November, 2017. Rooms facing the courtyard are nice and quiet. Comfortable room with excellent bathroom and a decent continental breakfast included for the price. One thing we were impressed with was several safety bars in and around the tub, even though this wasn't a handicapped room. Another plus was two folding luggage racks, a rarity in the medium-priced motels where we stay. Some of the rooms facing away from the courtyard will receive some freeway noise.

We had a nice room across from the spa. Our room was clean, quiet and it had a comfy bed. The bathroom was CLEAN. If you want water pressure...oh my!! You could move a full size truck with the water pressure. The breakfast area is small, but hey, it's free. The staff was very nice and helpful.

My wife and I stayed for a week helping with the preparations for our daughter's wedding at a nearby venue. We enjoyed attentive service from all of the staff. The hotel is attractive, the rooms are spacious, the pool/ spa area is refreshing and the internet service is fast. We needed help keeping wedding flowers cool. They let us use their cooler. I forgot a shirt. They mailed it to my home. A great hotel and a perfect staff!

Nice large king bed room facing courtyard with inviting Jacuzzi, reasonably priced. Only about a five minute drive to downtown Woodland, close to freeway but not too noisy if facing courtyard. The am breakfast was just ok, it got crowded in the small table area, so be patient while waiting for a table. Pool and jacuzzi were a nice amenity to have.

The place was clean and we didn't have any problems. Wish there was a bar in the hotel because we were with a group and it's always nice to gather with them. It's not really close to anything, but it worked for what we wanted. The price was right for our group.

We were pleasantly surprised by this cute little motel and when we checked in my daughter and I were so happy to find a clerk that understood our needs traveling with a small child. In exploring the hotel in the AM, we discovered a great pool, hot tub and beautiful landscaping. It will be a spot I will return to when traveling with my spouse next time. The rooms were also s-o clean! Glad we found it.

I stay here 2-3 times a year when visiting family. It is close to residential Woodland, has comfortable beds, two hot tubs, tasty breakfast, nice people and it is CLEAN. Not as fancy as the new hotels you see as you come in from Sacramento but at about 40% less it provides a good nights sleep and a better value for my buck. A short drive to Main street restaurants.

Great value for the price. I booked on line and as member so got a bit of a break on the cost. The room had a coffee maker plus a fridge and microwave. The breakfast was more than adequate. I would not hesitate to stay at this location again.

We stayed here for a wedding and booked 5 rooms. What a great value! Rooms were clean, staff was great! We had no problems! Breakfast was delicious and great variety! I've stayed at other best western hotels, and this was definitely one of my favorites!!!

Family had stayed here some time back and I could not remember the name but would have booked here earlier in o0ut stay - We ended up having 3 nights here a 1 night stay then 2 nights a week later. First night upstairs a bit of a puff for me no problem for son. Second stay we were inside by the pool - really nice. Great staff - thanks Patti for your great attitude - clean rooms. On site diner feels really old school - love it - This now our accomm of choice in Woodland , May it never change - but sort that front large vehicle parking lot lights need clean and repair! ruins the GREAT efforts of the rest of the property <3

Great friendly staff, rooms are clean (within fridge and microwaves) and complimentary breakfast. Make sure you request lower level room if you are unable to walk up stairs. Also, my room was adjacent to freeway and woke up to traffic noise. If you're a light sleeper request the other side of the complex. There's a diner in the same parking lot for those that are hungry.

We have stayed here for the past three years. We love the friendliness of the staff. We stay there on our way back from seeing our grandson. We will stay here again when ever we are in the area. It is a wonderful peaceful stay.

I really love this hotel. Staff always friendly I visit there at least twice a month to get away. Hot tub in wonderful. Very good location restaurant steps away. Very close to stores really close to anything you might want to do or eat.Breakfast is ok I perfere to sleep in.

This was a nice place to stay. Good location for an easy drive into Sacramento, and an easy drive to the airport. Nice clean and comfortable room. Restaurant just across the parking lot. We got a courtyard facing room after reading reviews about highway noise, and it was perfect.

The beds were very soft and smiled. When we got moved to another room which was our originally booked room, the carpets were wet and therefore was extremely humid in the room of course, as a result. The front staff was not friendly at all. Did not eat breakfast there as they don't start their breakfasts until 6:30 and we left for airport at 4 am. What we didn't understand is that we booked a double Queen room and it was confirmed. Then why did they put us in a single Queen when that's not what we paid for?

Nice little hotel in Woodland, CA. Right off the freeway, easy access. Friendly staff. Great pool and hot tub. The outside of the building looks a little dated but the rooms are spacious and clean. And they offer a continental type breakfast.

We found this hotel to be a perfect place to stay the night before flying out of the Sacramento airport. Our room was clean and comfortable, the breakfast was good and the staff people were friendly and helpful. The hotel is right next to the entrance to Interstate 5, which connects to the airport 10-15 minutes away. We heard no road noise, possibly due to the air conditioning having to work hard keeping out the extreme heat. We certainly would stay at this hotel again.

Really great hotel with clean roomsn nice staff and great complimentary breakfast. Internet is working properly. A gas station and a diner are avalable close to the hotel. Several parking spaces are offered. The price per night is correct and could be more as the hotel is really excellent.

I would have loved this motel except that the air conditioner was so noisy we could barely sleep. The housekeepers were really good and accomodating, the room was very clean and there was adequate towels and they were very nice.

Everything was great about this hotel stay, except that on Sunday they only served breakfast until 9:00 AM. Usually at Best Western hotels I stay at, breakfast on Sundays is open until 10:00 AM. Made the mistake of not inquiring before hand, and found out when went down to lobby at 8:50 AM for more coffee. Breakfast room was standing room only, and looked like we'd never get in for the remaining 10 minutes anyway. We opted to go to a very nice family owned cafe about a half a mile from the hotel. Just a waste of the money is all.

Staff at this hotel did not respond to my request to spray the room to kill lots of mosquitoes. The alarm in the rooms are preset and comes on at midnight. The housekeepers to phone charger instead of handing it to the front desk. I think the staff don't like and want people that doesn't look like them.

The hotel was very quite. Our room was directly across from the pool and never heard loud noises or kids playing in the pool. We did enjoy the pool as well. I would return to this hotel in the future. It was located very close to the fairgrounds where our event was taking place.

Friendly staff, clean pool, close to Sacramento airport. The breakfast was very good, much more than I expected. I was pleasantly surprised. We were there for a memorial and this was a nice place to relax and unwind after a sad day. I have stayed at much more expensive hotels and felt ripped off. This one is definitely more for your money. No frills, just good value, location and super friendly staff.

Very nice hotel. Good location. Nice little city to visit. Went into town and ate at the ONO Terriyaki Chicken place down the street from the hotel and the food was great. Wished the restaurant located next to the property was open for dinner but it is only ope for breakfast and lunch.

This hotel is right next to the 5 freeway on and off ramp and in the middle of an industrial area, which gave me second thoughts upon my arrival. But, I was wrong. The hotel was clean, and quiet. It is an old school type hotel with the pool in the middle of the property with the rooms overlooking the pool. The staff was very nice and friendly. I recommend that you go out and eat in the Historical District of Woodland, which is less than 10 minutes away. A lot of great restaurants and old buildings. Very nice area to walk. I believe only one elevator for the entire property. But its only a 2 story hotel. Get a top floor to avoid car headlights when they park because the cars are right in front of the rooms.

Lovely grounds, pool area. Nice buffer from freeway. Very accommodating for last minute room (long freeway trip) - even able to upgrade room once we arrived. Staff was very welcoming. Great value for size of the room

When we first arrived I was disappointed in the location of the hotel: It was in a rather industrial area, at the intersection of the freeway and an on-ramp; and a train passed near-by as we walked to our room. However, the noise of the freeway and the train was insignificant and did not disrupt the restfulness of the room at all, the industrial businesses did not present traffic complications as we came and went either. It just distracted from the appearance of the hotel, which was not Best Westerns' fault. Just unfortunate. I would be very happy to stay here again.

The best part was the layout of the hotel and how pretty it was. The room we had faced the pool and there were 2 separate spas. Greenery, pretty and the pool was comfortable (can't stand a cold pool.) Room was clean, had microwave, Ref, hair dryer, coffee maker, big TV. Very nice

Good price for location--after checking hotels closer to Sacramento. Location was literally right at the off-ramp and on-ramp. Cafe and gas station at site--an added benefit. Really nice staff. Even thought it was next to I-5 freeway it was quiet.

We went here because we'd had so many good experiences with other Best Westerns being super pet-friendly. Unfortunately, this property is not one of them. We encourage the owners to revisit their policy: it's hard to find clean, well-maintained pet friendly hotels and there are plenty of responsible owners of well-behaved pets willing to pay.

The rooms were very clean and the beds were so comfortable. The only thing I would complain about was the breakfast. Really didn't have much to choose from. I would recommend this hotel. I didn't swim in the pool, however it looked very well taken care of.

Nice, neat and clean spot, right off I-5. If in Sacramento, NW, very inexpensive option compared to other places close by, but you can't tell by the quality. In an industrial area, but very quiet. Nice pool, 2 spas, nice hot breakfast, good Wi-Fi, very comfortable beds and rooms.

Nice hotel, reasonably priced, Great staff and roomy accommodations Close to everything. Used the pool and hot tub, which were clean. Breakfast good, but coffee could be stronger. I would definitely stay there again.

Room was clean and comfortable, pool was crowded, but people looked like they were having fun. Breakfast was adequate (somewhat basic). Location was convenient and close to Old Town with many restaurant options. Was nervous leaving boat with our toys in the parking lot and the staff allowed us to park our truck and boat right in front of the lobby, which I really appreciated. The area is a little sketchy, right next to the freeway, with easy access for anyone. Was completely satisfied staying here for the price.

Once we arrived for a 2-day stay, we realized how far this hotel was from the airport and also from Sacramento. The staff quickly and cheerfully helped us locate a close-in location for the 2nd night. So we did stay the 1st night and were very happy with this hotel.

Drove by and wasn't impressed from the parking lot, but once on the grounds I found it was well taken care of, clean and comfy. Loved the large clean hot tub, pool and laundry facilities, all close to the airport. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good.

Bad first impression when pulling into parking lot. Broken lot lighting some trash, was wondering if I need to rent by the hour. But once inside hotel property everything was much better & very clean. Still the BW 80's retro décor in the rooms, but clean. The pool area was very clean. The other thing is, BW needs to step up to the plate in regards to ways to recharge phones & use laptops. Need updated options like lamps with USB & AC ports. This was another BW where I had to move furniture around to get to power outlets to recharge phones & plug in laptop computer.

Could have given a higher rating as room was very good, however, I was given a room upstairs next to freeway on ramp. The noise level was extreme staring at 5:00 am. Also, I trudged up the stairs as desk employee did not explain that there was an elevator and where to find it. So, when checking out I commented on the noise. It wasn't until then that I was informed that I needed to be inside the courtyard to be insulated from the noise. Big help as I was checking out.

Friendly staff, good location with easy access to the freeway. We stayed two nights. Very clean and the grounds, including spa and pool were very well maintained. The breakfast was good, but it was very crowded the first morning we were there, so the next morning we ate breakfast at the nearby Perry's Cozy Diner.

We loved this place from the get-go. The pool water was absolutely wonderful, "just right".  The room itself is quite nice, with a king sized bed, fridge and microwave in a nice cabinet that contains a working sink (wet bar!), TWO luggage racks, a small TV, a large desk, a love-seat and two chairs, and a “coffee table”. The bathroom is a wee bit small but no big deal, we're only here for a nice. Everything is super clean and in good order, with plenty of lighting. If we ever come through this area again, we would definitely stay again.

the Shadow Inn in Woodland is an excellent stop if you North or South on I-5. Very clean facility with great staff. Woodland has surprisingly good dining and the staff can recommend choices and has discount cards to help with the tab. This is our fifth stop here and we recommend it to travelers.

Good location, far enough off of I-5 to be quiet. Good room, good breakfast, a big plus is the large parking lot on one side with a lot of room for 18 wheelers, large Motor Homes, Travel Trailers. Room was clean with a fridge and microwave. The A-C unit was quiet and effective. Will stay there again when in the area

Comfort is here in this hotel. We arrived late and needed sleep. Room is very clean and comfortable. Hot breakfast is served, so our family is well feed before I hit the road again the next morning. I highly recommend staying here over Motel 6 or Rodeway Inn.

This is an excellent hotel with a modest price. I was a bit uneasy since I usually only stay at the "upgraded" Best Western Plus hotels. But, the Shadow Inn totally qualifies as a "Plus" experience even though the price is easy on the wallet. It is the best value in the Woodland area. I have stayed at 5 hotels in the area when traveling to and from the Sacramento Airport and will try to always book at the Shadow Inn from now on.

The photo for this hotel was not great, so I originally thought it might be outdated or run down. It is exactly the opposite. It is a relatively new hotel with an awesome swimming area, great customer service, and nice rooms. I wished we had relaxed a little longer at the hotel. You won't beat the value on this amazing stopover.

The Staff is friendly and professional, the pool is clean and inviting, the rooms and bed are comfortable, clean and roomy. The location is off interstate 5 and near (10 minutes) the Sacramento Airport.

The bed brought the score down for me. The room was very clean, the staff were great, but the bed was not comfortable. The sheets were very low grade and not comfortable. The pillows were scratchy. The bed was lumpy.

This property is extremely well manicured. It is apparent that someone loves this place. The rooms are a tad small and the AC struggled a bit ti keep up, but overall I would stay here again. And I would definitely recommend you give it a try too!

Convenient place off I-5. Great road side diner in front of Motel. Great place to stay! Good location to restaurants. Great Spa after a hot day in Woodland. Good selection of TV channels on television

We were in town for a swim meet and stayed here two nights. Nice pool right outside our door Good breakfast with plenty of donuts for my grandson Restaurant in the parking lot that we walked to for lunch one day. Central location for our needs and great air conditioning.

Very clean and quiet. No problems. I only stayed one night. Bed was comfy and clean. Bathroom was clean. The area was kind of empty. More of a business industry sort of thing so we had to drive out in order to go and have fun. Other than that 10/10

Great rooms, beautifully landscaped, two hot tub/spas, one beautiful pool, and a great hotel staff from check-in to room attendants and grounds maintenance personnel. Two wonderful days in Woodland, close to Sacramento to visit Old town, etc. and relax waiting for flight home from SAC Intl. Easy off/on to I-5. Can't say enough good things only 200 characters! Cheers!

Nice hotel located off the highway. Clean and very comfortable beds. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The only thing I didn't like were the breakfast choices. I stayed at this hotel because the website said it offered hot breakfast but their idea of hot breakfast was cellophane wrapped sausage and egg sandwiches you could heat yourself in the microwave. Yuk! I could go to a gas station for that kind of breakfast. It's disappointing when the brand you come to rely on isn't consistent with the other hotels you've stayed in. They did offer waffles but no meat to go with it. Thank goodness there was instant oatmeal as a fast substitute or I would have been having to buy breakfast on my way to my training like I did with the coffee. The coffee was so watery and bad tasting I had to pour down the drain so I didn't get to enjoy my morning drinking coffee and reading. So, all in all, I personally won't be staying here again but it was a good overnight stay.

Stayed here two night and found it very comfortable. Very caring staff that met all our needs. Good breakfast that got our day started in the right direction. Value for the dollar was tops. Convienent to the highway and other locations in town.

We booked last minute after our flight from Boston was delayed 2 hours, putting our arrival in Sacramento at 4:30 am east coast time. The hotel was relatively close to the airport and very reasonably priced. Staff were very pleasant, room was simple and clean, breakfast was simple and good. Our only advice is to consider requesting a room on the first floor since there is no elevator and stairs are outside. Lugging our suitcases upstairs late at night after a very long flight was tedious.

We stayed at this property twice in late May during the week while traveling to Eureka CA and back. It's clean, quiet, very good complementary breakfasts including (if you wish), make-it-yourself waffles, eggs, sausages, biscuits, along with the usual fresh fruits, dry cereals etc. We purposefully ate enough that we didn't have to bother with lunch while traveling. And if my memory serves me, they have an elevator to the second floor. One negative to the rooms, at least ours, is that the heating/cooling unit is under the window with the window drapes hanging over the air outlet. The air is then caught between the window and the drapes, with little cooling getting into the open area of the room. We had the AC on during the night and had to keep the drapes closed- during the day with the drapes open this may not be such an issue. There's a major brand gas station very close by, and a genuine diner (Perry's Cozy Diner) next door with good prices and better than average diner food. My wife had a most excellent $6.99 steak cooked just as she requested- rare. None of those Southern Calif admonishments about the terrors of undercooked meat. The only real downside is that there's very little nearby in the way of restaurants- Woodland is a small town in an agricultural area where most of the motel clients are travelers passing through or out-of-area heavy construction contractors working nearby.

Came for my UC Davis student. Location great the A/C unit wasn't working properly and within minutes friendly courteous professional staff were there to replace the unit. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful as well. Only complaint was the shower. The waster literally came out in a trickle. If I had been staying for more than 1 night I would have asked to have that fixed. Room was clean and comfortable. Would stay there again.

Stayed 2 nights at end of a week long trip to California. Selected hotel to be close to airport and with hopes of using the pool. The pool was beautiful and a great way to relax before flying back to PA. Great place to stay with kind, helpful staff. Lots of different restaurant just down the road. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Gouges in the walls from chairs...wallpaper in the bathroom which wasn't even trimmed properly...slick bathtub (almost fell)... No lounge chair or recliner to watch TV...just two old narrow rolling cushioned chairs that 75% of American backsides wouldn't fit into. Table was crowded beneath the bed and the window...you could not get past the chair to get behind it. The TV, when we first arrived was not working...(Message came on the screen that there was "weak or no signal"). The maintenance man didn't quite know how to fix it. They fiddled with the wire and it happened to come on. Three of the TV channels (not cable, Directv or Dish, but some kind of hotel network) did not work...sound, but no picture. The overall decor of our room may have been considered upscale ABOUT 20 YEARS AGO! Looks cheap and gawdy now... The front desk staff was not as advertised. They were friendly with one another...but not with me. Granted...the outside of the facility appears to have been recently painted. When you first arrive, it looks impressive... But DON'T LET LOOKS FOOL YOU! TOTALLY OVER-RATED!! A lot more work needs to be done... Until then...I wouldn't recommend it!

Clean and truck parking! Had a good stay tha last two times I've been it's Ben excellent. Food and stores near makes it very convenient. Staff was very help full and professional. Breakfast was awesome! Fresh and ready!

We only stayed overnight so we were close to the airport for our morning flight. It was conveniently located, clean, comfortable and staff was very nice for the brief encounters we had with them. We did not use the pool or hot tubs, but they looked very nice also.

We arrived around midnight after working all day. We had two cars to park, which was no problem. We were even able to park right in front of our room. The room was spacious and had everything we needed (e.g., refrigerator, microwave, iron...). The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. The breakfast was a step up from the usual (e.g., waffles). Friendly service. Great Value!

The Shadow Inn by Best Western is appointed in exactly the manner you would expect from a Best Western property. The room was very, very spacious, clean and comfortable. The property has a large spa and very nice pool. It is a popular stopping spot for truckers and travelers so make your reservation early! Any negative may be that the front desk staff was a bit disengaged. As a Best Western Diamond, I generally get a recognition and thank you for being a loyal customer. This is hardly a major knock, but worth a mention.

We've traveled to this area the same weekend for the last 3 years and will continue to do so. This hotel was by far the best one we have stayed it. The property is well kept, the pool and pool area were nice and clean. They even had toys out there for the kids to play with in the pool. Breakfast area is a traditional continental breakfast with extras. The waffle makers work great, the donuts were delicious. My hubby doesn't eat carbs but they had hard boiled eggs and breakfast sandwiches that he could eat. The desk staff were all very friendly, they even let us check in early on our arrival day because there was a room available. The desk staff were also refilling the breakfast area all morning. These are hard working gals. They continued to do everything with a smile, even when things were spilled. They do not offer laundry service but they do have washers/dryers available for the the guests to use. We will be returning to this property next year!

Our BW reservation for two nights appears to have been improperly communicated to Shadow Inn -- but they had to move us into the room with a King and kitchenette that we wanted (and are sure that we reserved) because there was no running hot water in the room they gave us. Even so, they kicked us out after the first night because they were fully booked for SAC graduation. With no other hotel rooms to be found, we turned around and went home, missing our niece's graduation because we had nowhere to sleep that night. My criticism is because of the absolute uncaring indifference the front desk showed us. I'm in recovery from spinal fusion surgery and currently fairly disabled -- and needed the King (or two singles) to accommodate all the pillows and props I need to support me in bed. They offered no help in moving us between rooms after we moved in, unpacked and then discovered there was no hot running water. We had to move to a different building, on a different floor. They also wouldn't help phone around to find us another hotel for the second night. If all goes well you might enjoy your stay here -- if you have a problem, I doubt you'll find the staff here interested, nor caring and certainly not helpful. This hotel is a big black eye to the Best Western franchise, which is generally good.

Really enjoyed our stay on a long long road trip. This was mid-point and well worth the stop. Very clean, quiet, and comfy. My only complaint to management was that too many people were smoking right outside the doors in the outdoor hallways. Next time we do that drive again we'll will stay here again.

Generally acceptable. Don't expect much from the breakfast, but there is a good diner right next store. Air conditioner and bathroom fan were really noisy. I'm a little snobby on pillows I must admit, and these were much too firm for my taste.

We stayed two nights at this establishment and all the staff where very friendly and professional. The Rooms where clean and spacious. The kids enjoyed the pool and two hot tubs. The breakfast area is a bit small however the food was good. The kids especially enjoyed the assortment of freshly baked donuts!

This is a super nice place, offering allergy free rooms, while pets are not allowed, my service dogs where treated with respect. Caring staff, clean well kept rooms, great water pressure in shower. I definitely will stay here again

We were so pleased to discover this place. This was the perfect place for us to stop on our trip down I-5. The property is older but is well maintained and the price was very reasonable. Our room was on the small side but comfortable and very clean. The owners obviously take pride in the appearance as the pool area and landscaping are beautiful. Despite being located right next to I-5 we did not hear any traffic noise. The desk folks were very helpful and professional. A family style restaurant and gas station are located right next to the property. When we returned home we realized that we had left some items in our room. The staff were most helpful in finding the items and mailing them to our home. We will definitely return.

The room we got had a king-sized bed, was roomy and well laid-out. The bed was quite comfortable. The outside noise was well-muted, perhaps because we were on the inside area of the buildings, near the hot tub. The WiFi worked without issue. The room had a fridge, microwave, small single-serve coffee maker, and a nice little bar area with its own little faucet - a nice touch. About the only thing I wished for was a freezer section in the refrigerator. We had ice packs for the cooler, and were unable to freeze them to reuse the next day. Instead, I had to hit the outdoor ice machine at 4:30 am and hope that I didn't wake up any of the other folks staying there. However, that's the only dissatisfaction I found. Overall, we'll definitely stay here again when we're taking this route.

Quit Hotel with a very pleasant staff Good location for most travel in the California valley area with access to most services. They have a pool and most other necessary services. Good Bargin for the price.

Friendly reception and departure, easy access and parking, clean and comfortable rooms, OK breakfast. It was very quiet on this stay but the previous visit was a little noisy because of several youth balls teams spending the night. Our room on the noisy night was on the back side of the property and that protected us from a lot of the noise. We would stay again if passing through the area.

Was given wrong time (11:00am closing) for following morning breakfast bar. Staff hurriedly removed all items when we entered breakfast area (which was within same area as check out counter) at the in fact (9:00am) closing time of breakfast bar. Forced us to eat elsewhere. Couldn't get even a banana or apple or coffee. Check out person couldn't have cared less allowing kitchen staff to remove all breakfast items.

Nice and quiet place to stay for an annual trip to haul bees. Great to wake up rested after a full day of driving.... to drive back. My first time staying here. Recommended from the original driver who started the run over 6 years ago.

We weren't sure about the part of town we were in but the hotel was very nice. The doors to the rooms open into a courtyard with the pool, hot tub and lots of beautiful flowers and grass. The room was spacious and clean. Very comfortable. The downside was the breakfast choices. There were no eggs, bacon or sausage choices. Instead they offered a breakfast sandwich that you could microwave. Limited choices of yogurt and cereal and fruit.

The room was very nice, the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was great. The area was nice and quiet. The wifi is always a plus. Staff at this location treated us with curtesy and smiles at check in and check out.

The Best Western in Woodland, Ca is the best we've stayed at and would recommend it to any friends who are visiting that area. Love the rooms, friendly staff, hottub, pool, and like the fact that there's a nice cozy Diner next door.

Grounds and rooms are well maintained. Very attractive court yard facing rooms and pool. An inside room is preferred as the freeway is adjacent on the opposite side. Breakfast was adequate. The bed was well used and outdated. Would have prefered a more updated mattress.

I like staying here...the hot tub is really nice and the pool. It is quiet and comfortable. It was in a very close to my daughter and easy to come and go. The staff is helpful and the rooms are comfortable...it is quiet.

The Shadow Inn continues to be consistently good value with guick check-in, friendly staff, and good rooms. Although close to I-5 it is very quiet and provides good access. Standard continental breakfast provides good travellers convenience.

Basically, a good, solid motel. Clean, basic amenities. Polite staff. Outside entries to rooms. Pool. Continental breakfast only, minimal hot items. Window drapes must remain drawn for full privacy. Good bed.

The staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean, which is very important, and comfortable. There is a courtyard with pools and nicely landscaped that makes it really nice when you walk out of your room. Because it is off the freeway enough you don't get the noise. We have stayed here three years in a row after discovering it.

The staff was very welcoming and friendly. The room however was very disappointing. During my most recent stay, I found hairs all over the bathroom floor, dirt & grime on the furniture and garbage in the side table. The carpet was dirty and musty smelling and the A/C was inadequate for the room. Bed was roughly the equivalent of sleeping on a plywood taco. The location of the hotel and easy accessibility to the freeway, dining, and stores was excellent. Hot tub and pool were also a great way to relax!

We stayed here for one night and requested a quiet room because of the freeway noise. I realize when traveling and choosing a hotel near the freeway there is the possibility of noise, but the noise in our downstairs room was excessive. The noise in our room sounded like the trucks were driving just past the door all night. We wound up leaving around 4:30 AM because we couldn't get back to sleep! The carpet was dirty, with stains in front of the couch from wine or something like that. Only amenities were 2 tiny, cheap bars of soap and one tiny bottle of shampoo. There were only 2 bath towels in the room so if you shower before bed and want to shower again when leaving, your towel was still wet! The ice machine in our wing was broken and I had to go to another wing just to fill the ice bucket. At over $100.00 a night this place should be better.

We chose this motel due to its proximity to the Sacramento airport because we were catching a flight the next morning. Far enough away to be reasonable and close enough for a short drive. The motel is a little older but appears to be well maintained. It sits back from the street so might be hard to spot on first look. Watch for a gas station/convenience store. Gas was 30 cents per gallon cheaper than the airport station in early October.There is also a pretty good restaurant between the gas station and the motel all in the same lot (dinner portions were large). The room was OK except for a few housekeeping issues. Do a thorough check of the room before you decide to accept it. I got a survey from Best Western about our stay and my response was more critical than this review but I am giving them the benefit of the doubt because I received a response from the general manager of the motel and it was not a robo-reply and the issues I reported were easily correctable with a little more attention to detail. I commend the staff for discounting the room at checkout even though we did not request it.

Every detail taken care off to the nth degree. Nothing to complain about. Definitely recommend this hotel. Room was huge compared to most other hotel chains including a great work desk and a separate sitting area.

The room is dated, but spacious and clean. There's only a little diner nearby and breakfast was over by 9 am!?! If you plan to pack the car, do so after breakfast so you don't miss out!! Staff at the front were charming however. Pool looked awesome.

stayed 2 nights for a business trip. they let me check into my room early and were very helpful with all kind of random requests like where to buy phone charger or new room key since i had locked myself out. gave me a 15% off coupon for a restaurant in town that was alright

Best Western prides itself on promotions and rewards, but BEWARE! The rewards are often mysteriously lost or already redeemed and I have been left to pay an additional $50 per stay on three separate occasions. Their customer service representative fully understood my issue and offered no solution.

This is a Best Western that shows pride of ownership. Though initially hard to find it was well worth the effort. Very nice pool and spas and a decent restaurant on site. Close access to SAC International for travelers headed north by rental car allowed time for an early am start for my trip after arriving late at Sac.

One-night stay on my way to Oregon. Two-story hotel with elevator. Large pool area and two spas. One of them which is separate from pool is extremely large. Rooms are larger than most hotels. Extremely quiet (never heard anything). Room equipped with all the amenities. Restaurant right next door to hotel; very reasonably priced. Hot breakfast is included at the Best Western. Although one reviewer mentioned cockroaches, I never noticed anything but cleanliness. Perhaps reviewer brought her own roaches (LOL).

We can only get these tasty jack in box tacos on the west coast so had to get them for breakfast. So good went back for more. Only 3 dots since this place seems old and saw homeless outside. Ate and made a run for it.

Always stay here on my way north to visit family. Nothing exciting about this place. It's clean, well located with easy access to interstate but is not noisy with traffic. There is a restaurant in parking lot.

It just so happened that Sacramento has yet to build any hotels truly close to the airport. There are a few in Sacramento, but it's still a 6 mile drive at a minimum. As I was looking, I found most of the hotels in Sacramento to be more expensive than I would like considering I had to be up very early to arrive at the airport for a 6 am flight. As I was searching, I found that this hotel was about 60-70 dollars cheaper, and wasn't really any more significant of a drive to the airport. It isn't the most beautiful when you pull in, though I found the actual room to be nice. The front desk staff was friendly and check in went quickly. The room was on the second floor, and I didn't have many complaints. The location of the hotel is a bit quirky, as there isn't much around. I decided to eat at the restaurant right next to the hotel, which was fine. It was also nice to be able to fill up my rental car at the gas station there and not have to worry about finding another one.

One of the best motels we have stayed at. As close to perfect as I could imagine. Rooms have great lighting, a/c, I could go on. Only negative was no freezer in fridge. Staff super friendly and helpful. Pool and spa looked great. Sorry we didn't have time to use them. Even access to parking nicely thought out with ramps at all access points. Tv and Internet also good. We will be back and highly recommend.

We were heading home and tired so we looked online with BW for something not too far down the road. Reviews looked good so we booked a room for the night. It is right off the freeway behind a diner. It is older but clean! The lady at the front desk was very nice. We were upstairs facing the pool and thankfully they have an elevator. Our room was nice size and somewhat updated! It was very clean except for the carpet! Wifi was slow! Breakfast was not great. We actually went to McDonalds!!!

This place is adequate and we chose it because we wanted to avoid the hustle and bustle of Sacramento. We are members of Best Western Hotels and rarely have a complaint but this place is well below BW standards. The Woodland property is in a convenient location..beside Interstate 5.... The beds are uncomfortable, the room is clean but everything about the place screams "cramped" "cheap" and "old". This place is good in a pinch but I wouldn't stay here again if I could avoid it.

This is a very well run motel. The rooms are very clean and well maintained. The room has everything you need. Flat screen TV, micro wave, mini-fridge, and coffee maker to name just a few. The court yard and pool are very inviting. Check out is 12:00 so we had time to enjoy the court yard and pool. The water was very refreshing and chemically well balanced. All of this is a result of good management. We will never see the Shadow Inn on Hotel Impossible.

This place has a great central pool that is great and the open atmosphere and rooms toward the pool makes for a great community fun time. Great size rooms, perfect for travel ball down the street on East St. Convenient Chevron and restaurant right next door.

We usually choose this motel when we come to Woodland. While an older motel, it is in good shape, has good access on and off the freeway and is relatively quiet. There is a restaurant next door that we have used in the past occasionally, but others aren't that far away either (On Main St)

This hotel is away from all the others, on the 2nd exit going North. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, always wearing a smile and it seems genuine. The rooms are very comfortable. Having 2 pool areas is wonderful. There were dozens of kids having a great time in the main pool area and we were able to go to the "other" Jacuzzi and enjoy the quiet. I think everyone had a great time. You should try this place!

This is the second time I have stayed at this motel and the rooms are nice, clean and the employees are very friendly and helpful! The breakfast food was very good and displayed nicely!.I would recommend this motel.

I arrived early and Jessica (front desk attendant) was able to get me into a room quickly. I was very appreciative. The rooms could use some fresh paint and new carpet, but other than that the room was fine. It was very spacious. The hotel is located in the middle of nowhere next to a gas station and a Mom and Pop diner. It was cheap and not too bad, I was in town for a concert at Toyota Amphitheatre.

The Shadow Inn was a clean, basic stay. The management pictures on Trip Adviser do not do the Inn justice as they have since upgraded to a more contemporary decor. We stayed overnight and occupied the room for about 12 hours. The room was clean and functional for a family of four. We had the 2 queen non-smoking room. The WiFi functioned without a problem. The front desk was friendly and it took less than 5 minutes each to check in and check out. Parking around the Inn was abundant. The free breakfast was good. No hot food unless you use the waffle iron, microwave, or toaster but still very adequate. I believe we had microwavable breakfast sandwiches, waffles, oatmeal, bagels, coffee and juice. Overall, the Shadow Inn met our expectations of needing a clean rest stop for one night in Woodland.

An older hotel with outside doors, surrounding a pool. Very well kept up though with easy freeway access and reasonably quiet. I would use this hotel again on other trips down I-5. Air conditioner struggled a bit and might be under sized when it has to combat 105 degree heat but by not the worst by motel standards. Overall of course it is about value, which the hotel provides.

The property is beautiful. The rooms facing the pool area are wonderful, especially on the second floor. The pool area is beautiful and impeccably maintained. The lobby is very classy and the breakfast is just enough. The rooms are cool, clean and very comfortable. We had plenty of space and comfort for all 4 of us. There was no noise from the freeway or community. Everything was lovely, thank you.

We stayed at the Best Western in Woodland for a night. We had a good one night stay. Our room was a King Size room with nice couch and sitting area. The shower room is separate from the sink. The desk area was nice with the electric plugs in a convenient place. We had a room on the 2nd floor. There are stairs.. There is also an elevator. Parking is free, The swimming pool and jacuzzi are nice size. The rates are very reasonable. They have a continental breakfast included. We slept in so dined at the restaurant within a couple of minutes walk from the hotel - Perry's Cozy Diner. There is also a gas station close by. Its also close to the water park in Woodland. Service was good. Overall, it was a nice one night stay.

We stayed here overnight driving from Portland to So Cal, and it was fine for that purpose; the location right off the 5 is very convenient. Our 2 queen bed room was good-sized with a small bathroom; to my preference, the sink was outside the bathroom. Shampoo and shower gel are in a wall dispenser in the shower. There were two chairs and a table placed in an odd spot by the window, making it a little tight getting out of the bed on that side. Relatively quiet air conditioner worked well when turned down all the way; I used a phone book leaning against the curtains and window to keep the curtains from billowing up from the air blowing under them. This is an old-style motel with outdoor walkways and no elevator, which was fine with us, and the rooms are clean but old. Rooms facing the pool are probably noisy until it closes at night, but ours was on the outside and quiet. Mini-fridge made a slight trickling noise all night and it didn't have a freezer compartment, relevant if you are like us and trying to freeze ice packs for a cooler in the car. Breakfast is simple and free: waffles (and little packets of Nutella!), hard boiled eggs, instant oatmeal, cereal, pastries, yogurt, coffee & juice; I appreciated the friendly smile of the woman keeping everything stocked. This was a much less expensive place to stay than Davis, which we wanted to see, and only about 15 minutes away.

I use the Shadow Inn as a destination get away for fun and sun when my sister and I need a break from the city and the fog. We are originally from Woodland so it is a treat to visit and go swimming in the pool. NO problems, just a nice time.

We had a good stay here. Rooms were clean and an elevator to our 2nd floor room was a plus (someone with a bad hip). Breakfast was good, a bit more than continental. The only reason it doesn't get a 10 was the girl who checked us in, I felt, was a bit rude. Other than that it was a pleasant, quiet stay and would stay again!

I can't recommend this place enough to anyone visiting the area. When I first got there the staff was extremely nice and helpful. I had very comfortable bed the room was very clean & quiet, Would highly recommend the hotel for any one coming to the area.

Clean, relatively quiet, good parking, easy check-in, check-out. I would highly recommend if you are looking for an inexpensive, easy to get to location if you are flying out of the airport early in the morning.

Hotel and service was great. We were there for a girls minor league softball. The girls had a great time and the staff was great. We will continue to stay and recommend this hotel for future softball teams to stay at also.

We had a housekeeping issue but after talking to the manager it was fixed and the stay was great! The kids love to swim in the pool! The breakfast in the morning is great I only wished they severed until at least 10:00am. It's hard for us to make it down there by nine.

A great place to stay. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. I had a special need for help and they were more than willing and accommodating in helping me. The room was very clean and my bed was very comfortable. They are a great place for families to stay. There is a very good restaurant on site, as well as a Chevron station and convenience store. So, if you miss the free breakfast offered by the hotel, the restaurant has great food. I can highly recommend this hotel to anyone. Plus, it's extremely easy on and off I-5.

This is my first time at this location. I stayed at this property on my way home from a quick out of town business trip. I had no reservation and was able to walk right in a get a room at the last minute. The front desk was very helpful and check in went very quickly. The room was very nice, and even though it was near a freeway off ramp, quite quiet. I would definitely stay here again.

overall the best you can find in or around town. close to where we want to go. we come down from.ca. to meet our kids that flay in from al. or Idaho. we really like to stay there.close to the smf. and sac. we don't have to stay in down town,but can get there in a few minutes.

Have normally enjoyed Best Western but this felt more like a Motel 6. Room was clean but carpeting was old, stained and starting to show wear. Ran the refrigerator all night but never got cold. Breakfast was disappointing, Belgium waffles, yoghurt, hard boiled eggs and some pastries. My biggest disappointment was the no pet policy and then not being able to get a refund because it was after 4:00 p.m.when we checked in

We stayed here on our way up north. Nice hotel and the breakfast offered several choices like a waffle, yogurt, cereal, etc. The check-in lady was very pleasant which was welcome as we arrived very late.

I stayed in they location because I was attending a wedding in Winters and flying into Sacramento. This was half way between them. I used apple maps to get there from the airport and at first I drove right by it because it's set back from the street. Woodland is a farming community and there were grain silos across the street. This place is really on the outskirts of Woodland and when I saw the grain silos I thought it was going to be a dump - but I was way wrong. The young lady at the counter - her name began with an "X" was very friendly and helpful. In fact all the staff were very friendly and help full. There is a nice clean pool and two Jacuzzis in the courtyard. The room was very clean and good sized. The room temperature was easily adjustable and overall everything was very comfortable. The room came equipped with a small frig, a micro and iron with board. You're just off the I-5 with a little family diner within walking distance. The downtown of Woodland is about 10 minutes away and very inviting. I recommend this place to anybody.

dinning area was very small and food wasn't worth waiting for someone to finish so you can take a seat. also we were kicked out of the pool area because other families had loud kids swimming so everyone had to leave. did I mention we had NO KIDS in the pool area? really??

Had an early morning job in Woodland, Ca so thought it best to stay the night before. This hotel was conveniently located just off of I-5 and 5 minutes to the downtown area where all the restaurants are. The staff was very pleasant and helpful at check-in. I had many questions regarding location of the room as we wanted quiet to sleep, not party by the pool! She let me go and look at the rooms and accommodated my many questions with a smile. We stayed in a inside rooms facing the pool/courtyard and with the AC on all night really didn't hear anyone walking by or the ice machine our room was close to. We had a lot of work things we didn't want to leave in the car as it was 100 degrees so we were happy to know they had an elevator. This is an older motor hotel that they've done updates with such as new large flatscreen the tv's with clean remotes and updated bed linens. The furniture and lamps could use a a style update but for just being there a brief amount of time, it was just fine. The room has a fridge, microwave and a coffee maker you can get hot water from if you travel with a pour over and your own coffee :) We found delicious food downtown and would stay here again if work brought me back to this area. The price was also very good for the room we got.

Well kept grounds. Nicely furnished room. The air conditioner worked well. Had a firm bed. The Staff were very pleasant. Breakfast good. The Pool area really nice. Definitely Worth it. Close to downtown.

Have been staying here for years for soccer tournaments in Davis. Kids love the pool and hot tubs and parents enjoy the patio for hanging out. Rooms are adequate and clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. Downtown Woodland has some hidden gem restaurants and quaint period architecture.

What a great place to stay! We were flying the next morning so we wanted to find a reasonable hotel and found this gem. We really appreciated how clean everything was and how helpful and friendly the staff were. The price was very reasonable, which we especially appreciate when we are traveling through and just sleeping and going on! So nice to have a great variety for breakfast, especially appreciated the protein options, peanut butter, hard boiled eggs, yogurt. We will definitely be back!

This was a good value for what we recived. The motel is older, so the rooms are large. The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast items were plentiful. However, there was neither a hot egg or meat selection. The room was clean. But, there was a corner of the shower curtain that had black mold. The towells and bedding were like new. Only, the bed seemed a bit hard and lumpy.all of the pillows were lumpy. Time to replace.

This motel is a leisurely one day trip from Orange County, CA and is above Sacramento. The motel has been remodeled in the last several years so everything is nice and there are excellent restaurants in old town Woodland. The breakfast has a good selection to start the day. Staff has always been pleasant. Have stayed there for the last 5 years every time we travel north.

A short stop on the way north. Great service, at check in the clerk gave us discount card for a local restaurant, Mojo's. Very good, great value plus 15% off the bill. Enjoyed our stay, old room, but well done, comfortable bed, super clean facility.

I was attending a class on a Friday at a Doubletree in Sacramento. My brother lives in Woodland so I drove up Thursday evening and had dinner with him. The room - nothing special - was clean and comfortable and I always appreciate a refrigerator and microwave. I never ate breakfast there because I had other plans both mornings. The trip to Sacramento on Friday was relatively easy - the trip back to Woodland Friday evening a b____ - as always on a Friday. Breakfast at Perry's, the diner in front of the motel with my brother Saturday morning was satisfactory. I had stayed at another motel in Woodland and this location was far better and the room more comfortable. I will stay at this Best Western from now on. It's clearly popular with construction workers and truckers but noise was never a problem. The desk staff was very accommodating a couple of times. I recommend it!

Helpful people, clean room, comfy beds, and attractive grounds. Breakfast was not extensive -- I'd say deluxe continental -- but I appreciated that the gluten-free items were clearly marked. I also really liked the paintings in the rooms -- they were pretty and restful. The pillows were a little too poofy for my taste, but probably OK for most people. A good place to stay if you are flying out of Sacramento. Very pleasant. If I was ever in the area again, I would probably stay here again.

Nice rooms but the refrigerator didn't have a freezer and they didn't have a fitness center. The breakfast starts nice & early (5:30) but also ends pretty early (9:30). The location is adjacent to Highway 5 and business 113 so there is a lot of traffic noise unless you get an interior (courtyard) room.

I stayed here in April 2016, and was pleased to be offered a rate around $80 per night. The room was medium size, clean and everything was in good condition. They gave me a room on the corner, where it was safe to run my cord; so I could charge my Chev Volt hybrid overnight. One thing I like about Best Western, is that card points do not expire, (many other lodging chains do expire) and they add a few extra, if one is a AAA member. This one was fairly quiet and has an inexpensive restaurant, place to get fuel and convenience store all on site. They do have a fairly nice breakfast, with more toppings available, than often offered. I do wish they also had a breakfast coupon for the restaurant, maybe during the off peak season, like some other BW inns. I had a restful and enjoyable stay!

My husband and I stayed here while traveling. It was close to the freeway so was very convenient. There was nothing overly fancy about the room. We had a room with 2 queen beds and found it a bit crowded, but for one night it was fine. The room was clean although the shower showed a little wear and tear. . Bed and pillows were decent. The breakfast runs 5:30 to 9 every day of the week and had eggs, sausages, waffles as well as the other usual fare. The whole hotel was not smoking and also didn't allow pets -- which is a pro or con, depending if you're traveling with a pet. It was a good value for the price.

A basic Best Western, nothing fancy, clean, comfortable, the restaurant out front is a real sleeper, excellent prices, quality food more than you could eat. Motel should make a deal with restaurant for hot breakfast.

Great place to stay for the Games. Lovely hotel comfy rooms. close to fairgrounds, Nice restaurant in the parking lot of the hotel offering all types of food for all meals. Great pool and hot tub. Beautiful gardens, flowers were lovely.

The room was very large with a small couch and two padded easy chairs, plus a desk and chair, plus a small wet bar with sink, micvrowave and small fridge. The only disappointment was no freezer in the fridge. All-in-all, a very nice room.

Staff at check in was great. Courtyard is real nice. I wish I had time to try the hot tub but we were only there one night. Wifi was song and reliable. Close to food. Very nice breakfast. Coffee was better than most hotels I recommend this BW

We always love staying there when visiting our uncle. The staff is friendly and service orinented, the grounds are always beautiful and they have a good breakfast offering. I would highly recommend this motel.

One of the best Best Westerns in California, prefer the inside courtyard deluxe rooms, It's a very nice hotel !! If you have a chance while driving up I5 or ever can't find a motel/hotel in Sacramento this is the place to stay..The Town of Woodland has a number of very nice, quaint restaurants and a new courthouse --- wow! Room not acceptable. No control for Shower head and curtain too flimsy so water everywhere. Tub slippery. Uncomfortable bed and pillows crowded room. Control for tv did not work properly. Desk reluctantly gave us a different one. Receptionist did not know how to connect to Internet on the guest computer in lobby. Recommend Pete s pizza was not good. Thick crust and not done. Have stayed here in the past and was ok but will not stay again. Manager said she would not give us any compensation. Friendly staff but not working for guest to be sure we return.

Hotel was very clean, staff was exceptional, room met our needs and was comfortable. We were moving from AZ to Oregon and had a huge moving van w/trailer and they made it so easy to park the vehicle in a safe place so we could relax. Nice little restaurant next to the property made it even better. Would certainly stay here again.

The staff at breakfast was great, they played with my son so we could finish eating and they allowed him to have a mini tour of their work station. Great room, comfy beds, good breakfast. Was glad they accomodated us being close to our car. Wish we could have enjoyed the pool, we were right next to it, but it was too cold. The extra counter space for food was great and the room was very spacious. Double deluxe room.

Lobby, grounds, pools and room was very clean and well kept. Quite nights rest even though I-5 on ramp was in near by proximity. I would not hesitate to recommend this place to family and friends. Lots of dining choices in downtown Woodland very close by.

The location was perfect (just off I5) but it was an industrial area with no amenities close by within walking distance. Rooms were very dated as was the furniture. There were stains on both chairs in our room and the lack of blankets on the bed was unusual. The pool area is lovely.

I have stayed at the Shadow Inn 8-9 times. Right next door is Perry's and a Chevron station. The staff has always been great. Sometimes the pool is cool...but I swim anyway. Nice rooms. wireless up to snuff. Stay there, you will be back.

We had a very good one night stopover. The staff was very pleasant and helpful, the room was clean with all the needed necessities. The bathrooms are a tad tight, but we managed. Overall a very good stay, we would stay here again!!

Another typical Best Western. A little dirty, a little run down. Nice Staff. Bad but free breakfast. Ugly decor and uncomfortable beds but I earn points for free stays. So I keep using BW for business.

Friendly and clean. All you need for one night on a road trip. A bit of highway noise. Breakfast is extremely basic with no protein other than hard boiled eggs. Woodland is a charming city. Recommend Dutch Bros Coffee about a mile away.

Second time staying here and it lived up to expectations. Only reason for 4 out of 5 rating was that the price on line was less than the price when we pulled in. Didn't have much choice in paying the higher rate, it was evening when we pulled in without a reservation. Room was large, beds comfortable. Had microwave and refrigerator. The bathroom had a large counter to spread toiletries on. Only one outlet for bathroom, but the provided hairdryer was wired in so both outlets were available. The toilet and tub are in their own room. The sink area was basically a part of the room, so no privacy at the sink. With all our electronics, we didn't have enough outlets. Hazards of older properties. Breakfast was good. Waffles, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, single serve fruit cups and the usual pastries and breads and bagels. Small eating area. We traveled with an ice chest and had some lunchbox ices packs and frozen items. Gratefully, we were able to put them in the hotel freezer for the night. Our room was on the second floor and on the back side away from the freeway. It was a very quiet unit so it was a good night sleep for a light sleeper. Hotel is close to freeway exit, so easy access on and off of I-5. Didn't use the pool or hot tub, but it's sheltered with the rooms all around it, so it probably isn't windy there. NIce staff in the evening for check in, and in the morning of checkout. We will be back.

The room was clean and updated, the grounds were maintained, the staff was exceptionally friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. For the price, this was a good place to rest for our trip,about the halfway mark. We visited old town Sacramento, nice to stretch your legs and walk around. Oh yea, the ice cream was good

Decent budget hotel in Woodland. Good value. Rooms are quiet big. Bathroom was OK. Breakfast in the morning was ordinary. Staff was courteous. There is a pool and a hot tub available at the property. OK option if you are in the area.

Shadow Inn had everything we look for in a Best Western hotel, 2 out of bathroom sinks with counter space seating in front of tv for eating micro and fridge exterior corridors providing close parking on ground floor. comfortable king bed in spacious room.

This motel is fantastic. Staff is very courteous and helpful. Grounds and impeccable. Rooms are so clean and comfortable. The only thing I suggest to the hotel is build a workout/exercise room. They do not have a workout facility or room. The Cozy Diner (Same parking lot) has wonderful food and follows the hotel with regards to cleanliness. An upscale Denny's, but 10x better and cleaner.

Wow! I was thinking this place was going to be just the ordinary Best Western that is sometimes run down. I was totally impressed. Very clean rooms and friendly people. I could not find one thing to complain about. I even brought my own pillow but ended up using their pillow because they were so much better.

Great service from front desk to check out. Clean. Inexpensive and quiet. Just an overall good stay for the money. We encountered ZERO problems and the front desk girl even had a wine key for me! (thank you)! The bed could be slightly more comfortable for me, but it wasn't bad. Also, I like more covers - bedspread too light weight for me. But, overall GREAT room for the money. THANKS

The customer service was fantastic...very friendly and helpful. But the walls were SUPER thin and I literally could hear the conversation in the room next door. Also, there seemed to be a lack of electrical outlets. Low rates. Breakfast had a good selection.

We've stayed here many times and have never had a bad experience. Everyone at the front desk is always very helpful and kind. The room is clean and comfortable and it is affordable. The breakfast is always stocked and there is always something there that my boys love.

This is a very nice clean motel with a heated swimming pool and spa. Rooms are ordinary and the beds are comfortable. Breakfast is served until 9am and is good. In room internet is available. Staff is friendly and helpful. Price is great.

Lovely ranch-style architecture and exquisitely maintained facility made for a delightful visit. Off the freeway but very accessible with easy on and off which made our overnight a quiet and serene experience. The allergy-free room was very clean and tidy with no hint of animals, smoke or cleaners. A Cozy Diner next door had great broasted chicken for dinner and the breakfast room is fresh and clean. No hot breakfast like some places, but lots of other choices for hungry travelers. Very nice accomodations!

The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was extremely small and the bathroom was really small. The location of the room, exterior 1st floor was very close to heavy truck noise which was rather distracting.

Easy access off of I-5. Large comfortable room. Free WiFi. Very attentive and accommodating staff. Reasonably priced. I and my wife have stayed at this location on numerous occasions and have always been satisfied with the service they provide.

This is an older hotel but my room was comfortable and clean however the furnishings are old. The best rooms face outside as the pool are can get very noisy ! The breakfast area is very small with a bad selection of items, however there is a diner next door if you want a cooked breakfast !

The room was great, clean, comfortable, nice and quiet. We heard no outside noises at all. Staff was friendly without over-doing it like some places. Helpful with giving directions to stores that we needed. Efficient check in and out.

Clean, comfortable and spacious Typical amenities, with a so-so breakfast included. Plenty of parking for large rigs. (we were delivering 2 trucks north) Most of the motel staff were very accommodating. We reported a problem with the drains in our room (water up to your ankles when showering) to an older woman in the morning, but she had an "ol well" attitude. A very nice family style restaurant next door with a varied menu and friendly staff.

Stayed at this hotel due to its closeness to the airport. It was very clean and comfortable. I loved the bed. Ate at the diner in front of the hotel, the food was pretty good. There is also a gas station right next to the hotel for convenient fill up before taking off on the rest of your trip.

I chose this hotel due to its location. I wanted to be near the Sacramento airport for a morning flight. The hotel staff was very friendly and the room was clean. Downside: the bathroom. It was very small. The sink/counter is seperate (out in the room) and the shower/toliet are in a room the size of a coat closet, literally. The location is great for airport access, but I probably won't stay again due to the bathroom.

My friend and I got a good rate on this hotel; it was clean, quiet and well maintained. The bed could have been a bit softer and the breakfast a little more substantial, but for the price I have no complaints. The location is good and the staff was friendly. Would definitely stay there again.

Great location and staff. Walking distance to one of the best restaurants for family style comfort food. Plenty of parking and lighting for night time security etc. The early continental breakfast was fresh and was well serviced . Hot eggs and a breakfast meat would have made it an unbeatable value.

Nice place, older hotel, but nicely maintained and close to Sacramento Airport but without the huge cost. Clean rooms, nice hot tubs. Close to food and Steve's pizza, recommended by the front desk.... supper!

This hotel has an excellent location for an overnight between northern California and points south. But it is right off I-5, so take care to select a room on the interior courtyard. The room was a good size and had an effective layout. The outdoor pool was welcome in the 100-degree temps. Staff are friendly and helpful. But hygiene needs some work. There was a child wearing diapers in the pool and in the jacuzzi -- that ended our time there. Later, at breakfast, at least one guest was barefoot in the dining room. These health issues would probably keep us away next time, despite the good location and nice staff.

From the moment I arrived, until the moment I left my experience was wonderful. Very clean rooms, well maintained and pretty landscaping. Breakfast choices were good. Pool area is very pretty. Staff, and I mean everyone was professional, kind, and friendly. I plan on staying here for my many trips I will be making to Davis the next 4 years.

The courtyard is nicely landscaped and adds to the positive experience of staying at the hotel. Rooms are clean. Decor is pleasant. The staff is friendly. There is some noise from the nearby freeway which can be avoided by turning on the air conditioner. The pool is very small. For the price, I would certainly return for another stay.

The good thing is that this property is typical of BW properties, so you know what to expect. I do not recommend the restaurant next door, and I do not recommend the hotel on the far side. This BW is the place I would recommend if you are staying in Woodland.

Much nicer than what I was expecting, given the location. (Woodland can be a little sketchy) Good service, nice room, good price. Overall no complaints. Breakfast could have had healthier options I guess (I would have liked eggs and bagels) but there was a variety of tasty donuts and oatmeal, and fruit.

We were very pleased with this hotel. The staff was attentive and courteous, the room was clean and comfortable, the complimentary breakfast was tasty and offered a nice variety of items. Lastly, and most important to me, the hotel was located in a nice area so I didn't worry about my family's personal safety or the safety of our car in the parking lot.
