A NY Capital region hotel offering a safe, clean, welcoming environment for travelers. The rooms are beautifully appointed, and comfortable. The staff is friendly and efficient. Can't say enough about the outstanding breakfast and lounge area.

Good location, clean, free breakfast, quiet room. Would definitely stay here again when in area. Very nice staff, fast internet and very close to restaurants, supermarkets and other amenities. Love Best Western for the consistency of the product.

This hotel provides a comfortable, welcoming stay in downtown Troy. Rooms are spacious. We particularly appreciated the included breakfast, with good variety of both hot and cold options. The desk and breakfast staff were friendly and helpful.

This Best Western is clean, safe, well located, comfortable and the staff are well trained. I've stayed here several times and will almost certainly return.The guest room was clean and well equipped. The lobby is bright and welcoming.

Nice hotel and room. Breakfast also very good. The only thing I need to comment on is I don't feel a diamond member should have a view of the air conditioning system outside the only window they have. Also the parking is very limited unless you want to park in a dirt lot.

If you are staying here to attend a wedding across the street as it seems many do, do not expect to get your room until 4 pm. I had rented 4 rooms for my family. I called at noon and was told 2 out of 4 rooms were ready. I said I only need 1 room to stick my luggage in. She said it's $65 to the room early. When my older brother flew in from Georgia and arrived at 1:30 pm. They told him the same thing. Just expecting him to wait in the lobby until 4. He paid the $65. By 4 pm there was a line of angry people waiting to be checked in by one person behind the desk. After a few people he became angry too. Idiotic rule to try to get more money from people creating ill feelings toward the hotel and chaos at 4. The hotel itself was okay. The deluxe rooms are nicer than the other rooms. No hairdryers in the rooms. Try to get an “extended” room if you can. A little bigger. Also 3rd floor with a view of the river is desirable. Breakfast was served everyday. They have a cool pancake maker I have not seen before. All of the staff, except 4pm check in guy were very nice and helpful.

hotel was musty, smelled like smoke. Curtains were ripped and stained, carpets were stained, towels were stained. The bed was loud and moved every time you do. We killed two bugs in the room. Lobby was completely renovated and didn't match the disgusting state of the rooms. We were in town celebrating our friends wedding and the hotels solution was moving us from room to room, each one as disgusting as the last. Our other friend was in a deluxe room and found two roaches as well as old alcohol boxes from the previous guest that was never thrown away. THEY DONT CLEAN THE ROOMS OR UPKEEP THEM.

While the rooms are not fancy, they are clean and comfortable. The location and the breakfast are what makes this place special. The kindness of the employees makes this a real find!! This was our 2nd time staying here and would love to stay here again if in the area.

Not a Best Western "Plus" hotel at all. Poor front desk guest service, lack of basic guest security and lacked basic room facilities such as a microwave Good breakfast. Interesting location in historic Troy downtown.

Our room didn't appear to have been vacuumed because when we got there, we found a candy wrapper on the floor near the bed. No one cleaned the room during the weekend so we didn't get clean towels and ran out of body wash. We had to request clean towels and body wash from the front desk. The beds were incredibly uncomfortable, very hard. There was a wedding at the hotel and this included a 30 minute long fireworks show outside our window on the Hudson River. No one told us to expect this, so we had gotten into bed after a long day of moving our son into his dorm. We were woken up by the loud booms - again, right outside out window. Had we been warned, at least we could have waited to go to sleep until after the celebration. The breakfast food is ok depending on what you like. As someone who doesn't eat meat, there was a lot of meat. Pancakes were a strange chewy consistency with a whitish yellowish color, and were inedible. They had almond milk which I really appreciated, but no stevia sweetener. The hotel staff were all pleasant and helpful. We did not complain to them, because we didn't think that there was anything that they could do to remedy the situation. We have stayed here before and did not encounter these issues previously. What was really frustrating is that we paid over $700 for two nights - a price that was jacked up considerably from the usual price, I am guessing because it was move-in weekend for RPI students, plus there was a wedding there. So I feel like we did not get our money's worth from this stay. I don't think we will stay here again. It was convenient because it's close to RPI, but we will try other places or look at Airbnbs.

Very average room. A little pricey for a basic room in Troy. Quite noisy Saturday night as there was a wedding reception going on across the street. Otherwise fitness room is nice and breakfast was very good.

This is one of the nicest BWs in which we've ever stayed over the past 25 years. The lobby is clean, airy, spacious and beautifully furnished. The employees greet guests with a smile and are helpful. The rooms are exactly as shown on the website, clean and up-to-date. The bathroom was stunning. Having extra counter space there really helps when one is getting ready to go out for the day or night.

Had a very nice overnight at this hotel. We were able to check in early. The front desk staff was very welcoming. Plenty of parking. Our room was clean and spacious. WiFi was good and we had no problems with noise. Air conditioning worked well. Breakfast was typical with cereals, pancakes, eggs, etc.

Place was clean, the staff friendly, room comfortable. Extensive breakfast. Great location. No sound proofing between rooms, you can hear the dog barking and the couple arguing. Internet service in the room too slow to stream video, Missed daily maid service.

The pictures are nicer than the property. The room was claustrophobic and quite dark. Low ceilings. Important to note, though, that it was absolutely clean, which we appreciated. The breakfast was unappetizing. There was nothing wrong with it, just felt super institutional. Also? That public space is not as pristine as in the picture. For example, the cute little potted (fake) plants on the table really need to be wiped clean! They look scrungy. (Which is totally a word, I swear.)

Had the pleasure of my first stay at this Best Western in Troy on business. The property was exceptionally maintained and the amenities including breakfast were fresh and plentiful. The staff at the desk were very welcoming and helpful. The GM also was very nice and let me borrow her charger for my phone over night since I forgot mine. A great property and I would highly recommend this property.

I booked a room block for my wedding at the Troy Best Western. The regular guest rooms were great and very affordable. My husband and I stayed in a suite and it was amazing! So much space, very clean and made our stay feel extra special.

We visited Troy for a wedding and stayed at the Best Western Plus across from the venue. The location was convenient, all of the associates we interacted with were professional, patient and friendly. Shout out to Tyrese, and to the associate who was wearing the CD belt during our check in for all the great recommendations, and for accommodating our request to check in early. We recommend upgrading to a room that has been updated. Those are modern and cozy.

Always stay here when visiting my son at RPI. Extremely convenient to campus. Have had a few issues from time to time when staying here, but management is always responsive to anything that comes up. Most recently, I double booked and they took care of it after the fact despite it being my blunder. Well worth giving this hotel a try if you haven't already.

The hotel is right on the Hudson with lots of restaurant options within walking distance. Lobby and rooms looked exactly like the photos. Check in was quick and easy Will definitely add this to our next summer road trip

Once again this hotel was our home away from home while visiting family in Troy, and we are so grateful for their service and hospitality. We did have a few issues when we arrived (no hair dryer and the tv wasn't connected), but those were quickly mitigated and we were totally satisfied. We even brought out adult children and their spouses to visit family and this hotel made it easy to book multiple rooms, for different days, and we are very thankful for them. The staff at the hotel was top notch. They were super friendly and always making sure our needs were met. It was refreshing to see the staff enjoy their job and really care about their guests. We know where will be staing next time you head to Troy, NY.

We came down from lake George for a friend's Birthday party. Room was clean and comfortable. No hair dryer in room, called front desk answered promptly and within 5 minutes I had a hair dryer. Thank you

We made reservations through a link on the wedding page on theknot.com which I later learned was processed through hotel planner. I did not receive a confirmation. Then I called a reservation line on the website (which identifies as a BW line) to ask about the status of my reservation and was told there wasn't one so another reservation was made and this one was paid in advance. At check in we had two reservations- but I only had confirmation of the second one. The hotel can not/will not make adjustments because the reservation was not processed by the property and now we're inside the cancellation timeline and therefore incurring charges. We asked the hotel for consideration on the rate and were flatly (and rudely by the first “manager” we talked to, at check in. Very bad way to begin the stay.) Very poor customer service even by the GM, everything was blamed on the 3rd party, hotel planner. No willingness to accommodate, I am flabbergasted by the lack of hospitality. Now I'm working with the 3rd party reservation agents for some relief. Very frustrated, feel ripped off, and feel like there's cahoots between the hotel & the online reservation line to create fictitious reservations ??? Hotel itself is fine, the people get the lower rating. And DON'T click reservation links on the knot.

When entered room my husband found empty pill bottle on side of bed, shampoo dispensers empty in shower, walls very thin. There is a space at bottom of adjoining door and you could hear conversations from visitors staying next door

This was our second stay in this hotel, we like it because it is in the middle of downtown and close to everything. Would stay here again when we are in the area. Rooms are nice and they there is a nice hot breakfast available every morning. Things that I look for when booking a hotel.

We enjoyed our one night on way home from Maine. Bed was firm. Room was clean. Staff were pleasant. I Would recommend asking for a room away from the street as we heard road noise, mostly motorcycles.

Very nice property right along the river. We found it difficult to find the entrance given the way the roads converge at that point, but the room we had was very nicely decorated. The food at the breakfast buffet was much better than standard fare at Best Westerns.

I set the bar pretty low for breakfast & this place couldn't reach it. Eggs were dry, sausage was overcooked, Nice guy at the desk, but didn't seem like the 'sharpest tool in the shed. Room was good, clean.

We enjoyed our stay in Troy very much and a lot had to do with This Best of The Best Best Westerns. Everything about it was exceptional. It is in a perfect locale and convenient to all there is to see and do in Troy.

The hotel was nice. We arrived early and the front desk staff checked us in to a nice room facing Hudson river. The room was spacious and looked 100% updated - two queens, modern bathroom with a shower cabin, smart minifridge, microwave. The hotel is right downtown Troy - you can park your car and relax, it is in a walking distance to riverwalk which is very well lit up in the evenings. Plenty of good restaurant/cafe choice: we tried a small Greek cafe three blocks away and Dinosaur BBQ across the street (delicious!) and were not disappointed. My only issue was that my definition of safety was different from the most reviewers on this website but it had nothing to do with the hotel which was fabulous. P.S. Nice breakfast too!

Some rooms are renovated but if you're unlucky and get an old room- it's awful. My room had some type of extreme moisture in the room. It smelled like a wet towel as soon as you walked in, and the carpet itself felt like it was collecting moisture from the AC unit so I kept my shoes on the whole time. The AC unit is so loud it wakes you up at night every time it turns on. And the fridge ticks loudly like a ticking bomb. No hand towels in the bathroom. The bed seemed to have a plastic cover on it like for a child's bed. Very outdated decor compared to other rooms. Overall very unpleasant room, felt like I was in a cheap motel not paying $200 a night. They shouldn't charge that much unless you're putting everyone is a new room. Breakfast and lounge area were very clean and very good, absolutely no issue with that. Wi fi was strong.

We stayed at this hotel twice last year and had good service therefore we specifically booked this hotwl again. Staff was efficient and friendly, breakfast buffet had a good variety of foods and drinks.

This hotel is well situated,near restaurants and places to visit,it is clean. But: it stinks in the room (might be the carpet), the breakfast is not good and cold. Fot the price they could do better that's for sure.

This was a very well-planned, multi-city family vacation. In February, I booked two rooms for our family for the night of July 31. As plans shifted, in June I went through the BW website to modify the reservation for the two rooms for August 1. Later in June plans shifted again and I canceled the August 1 reservation, well within the time to do so. That cancelation was confirmed through the BW app. Then on August 2 I noticed our card was charged for the two rooms. Turns out that the BW reservation system, when I "modified" our July 31 reservation, created a separate reservation for August 1, so that when I canceled the August 1 reservation the July 31 reservation was still on the books. When I called to speak to the hotel about the charges, they refused to offer any sort of customer service solution for the charges for the two rooms that my family did not stay in. None. I am out hundreds of dollars because BW's system is stupid, and because the BW-Troy hotel personnel are bad at customer service. I have contacted multiple levels of BW, with no result. So I can only assume that BW is a scam operation, and will encourage everyone who will listen to stay anywhere else.

Hotel was the only available for a last minute after midnight check-in. In a good location. I asked for & paid an additional $50 for a late checkout. The next morning I was abruptly awaken by construction workers laying blacktop in the parking lot right outside my window; accompanied by the terrible smell & fumes coming in through the AC unit. The breakfast pastries were stale. The danish had been cut up into little pieces. The coffee came out of a vending style machine. You could see it was mostly clear water. Another guest asked the desk clerk, she wasn't able to fix it. The room was clean, but worn.

We chose this hotel as it was located between the Niagara Falls and Boston, as the distance in one day was too long. I would give 5 stars, but as the breakfast was too basic for the price we paid, it's a 4. There is a private and free parking. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Checkin was fast. Rooms clean and spacious. Breakfast was ok, but very basic, which was disappointing for the room rate we paid. But there was a pancake maker, which I missed already during our roadtrip. There is a nice grill just across the street with excellent food.

Had to be in Troy for an event. Only room available was a suite which was a large room with king size bed, sofa and jacuzzi in the open. No soap, shampoo or hair dryer in room. Had to go get it myself. Breakfast buffet was fair with rubbery scrambled eggs, no hot oat meal or decaf tea. One positive was pancake maker which was made nice individual pancakes. Not enough parking. Had to park across the street in medical complex. The hotel needs a make over but was clean. It is conveniently located near restaurants.

This was a great stay! Location was so good. Could easily walk to a lovely riverfront area and places to eat close by. Super friendly staff. Rooms were clean and in great condition. The whole place was gorgeous. We were traveling with a pet.

After delivering my daughter and her things to a farm in Easton I took a room here. I chose it for its proximity to the interstate, the breakfast and the price. I chose a simple room and it came complete with everything I needed. I was concerned that the area would be noisy but I did not hear anything in the room.

Overall very good. Friendly staff, clean, close location to RPI. Parking was full but I'm able to park across street free of charge on weekends. There is a burger place nearby and I was told there are bars close by, but I didn't visit Breakfast is not that good with limited choices

Enjoyed my entire stay. From the friendly greeting from staff, easy check in to the cleanliness of room and so on. I do not have one complaint! Breakfast was excellent, much more than I have had at other hotels.

We enjoyed our visit at Best Western + in Troy, NY. the hotel was clean and attractive, staff was efficient and pleasant. The lobby was comfortable with an atrium ceiling and eye-catching lighting centerpiece. Breakfast was adequate and the coffee was fine.

The beautifully renovated, spacious rooms at this Best Western in Troy, NY (15-20 minutes north of Albany) far exceeded my expectations. Rooms were clean, my stay was quiet, and the windows opened just a sliver for some fresh air. Located just off the freeway, it was also an easy 10-minute walking distance from a handful of coffee shops and restaurants (try JACOB ALEJANDRO at 274 River St for a cappuccino and delightful scone!), and was also within easy walking distance to Russell Sage College. If you are visiting the college, this would be a great place to stay! The hotel also served a generic hot breakfast daily with fresh fruits (apples and mandarin oranges during my stay). Basic coffee, green tea — no variety, Swiss miss hot cocoa, machines for those sugary-“juices,” a non-touch pancake machine, eggs, toast, a few types of cereal and such. (If you have a soy allergy like I do, like most hotel breakfasts, your only option is the fresh fruit). Front desk service was very friendly, but the staff could have used a bit more training. My concierge at check-in was extremely friendly and helpful, but admittedly didn't know much about the town or places to recommend. Nor did she think to consult her computer when I asked about a specific restaurant. But she was so nice, you didn't mind so much (that's what phones are for, these days). The concierge on my last morning, however, hid in the office, and I watched him texting on his phone for several minutes in the back room, while I tried to call out “good morning” several times in an attempt to get his attention — even when he saw me, he took his time coming to the front. Whatever was on his phone was much more important than his work, and he clearly wasn't paying attention at all to his post (this happened twice to me with the same concierge). I asked him I could check my bag to pick up after my conference, and he told me to just leave it in the lobby (what?) — I insisted he put it in back, and he looked confused, but to his credit, he did. When I picked up my luggage later, I noted that one of my fellow conference attendees had been given a luggage tag — I had not. And at that point, they had moved all checked bags to a locked area. Maybe he was new? As for the room: it was clean, newly renovated and spacious. Beds and pillows were average. My room had two beds, a desk, a lone reading chair in the corner, a TV, a mini-fridge (empty), and a small single coffee maker (I didn't use it — it would be much easier to just to get coffee from the lobby during breakfast). The room's full-length, mirrored closet doors were great! And the closet also had a small safe and contained an ironing board. The hair dryer was in a small bag in the closet. Due to Covid, the hotel doesn't do a daily cleaning service, but they do offer a fresh towel service, which I used and found efficient (you put dirty towels in a bag on your door when you leave in the morning, and when you return, you find clean towels hanging in their place). Toiletries were sparse, but adequate if you are not fussy: an okay-scented tiny (2-use) shampoo and tiny (2-use) conditioner, as well as a pleasant smelling bar soap in the shower and at the sink. If you come with more than one person, you may want to ask for extra toiletries up front. The hotel did *not* provide any body lotion or bath gel, so if you are used to something more luxurious, I'd suggest bringing your own products. The bathroom counter was amazingly large, and left ample space for your own toiletries, and with great lighting in the bathroom, it was wonderful space for getting ready in the morning. The hotel is a very good value for the price, and I would definitely choose to stay again if in the area.

Our family enjoys staying at this location and we have on multiple occasions when in town visiting our adult children. You can relax knowing there's a nice, clean & comfortable room waiting for you at the end of a traveling day. The beds are comfy and when you wake the next morning an incredible breakfast awaits. Staff are friendly and helpful. Great location as well.

This hotel is located right in the heart of downtown Troy, within walking distance to many unique bars and restaurants, shopping and within view of the Hudson River. Parking was dependable and staff was very helpful. Will be staying again.

Although I came up to Troy on an extremely cold and snowy weather weekend, the staff warmed my heart. Extremely diligent, patient and friendly. This is how customer service should work. I couldn't ask for more.

Staff was very professional and helpful. The front desk personnel really acted like they wanted to ensure I was well-served and had an enjoyable stay. The room was very clean and the bed comfortable. The WiFi worked well as did the TV (which was basic DirectTV). Breakfast was marginal, which seems to be the trend in hotels during Covid. There was a variety of cereal options, as well as packaged Danish and instant oatmeal. The coffee was marginal. There were limited fruit options. However, I definitely plan to stay at this Best Western again.

I have stayed there twice in the past few months. And both times I was extremely happy with service and quality and cleanness of the rooms and entire hotel. I plan to stay there again when I travel to Troy at end of April.

We were a group wanting to stay in Troy. This location is perfect to access shops downtown. Many restaurants nearby. The rooms are clean and spacious (we paid for revised rooms). The price is reasonable. The staff are extremely accommodating and friendly. The breakfast is more like snacks than food. Free parking. I'd stay again (I hope they improve the breakfast).

This restaurant is in the best location in Troy. You are walking distance to everything to see. Close to all sorts of great restaurants and cute boutique shops. The lobby is nice and spacious for eating breakfast. The fitness center is small but has nice equipment. The prices are great off season. If you go in the summer you will pay for the great location.

We had a wonderful stay this past week while visiting family in my hometown. We chose this hotel because of the great service we received the last night we were there (several years ago), and once again your staff and facility did not disappoint. Thank you for all that you do and for making our stay comfortable and relaxing!

Excellent choice in the area. Newer location. Very clean rooms with all new furniture. Great staff and location in walking distance of all kinds of food, drink, nightlife. Safe even right next to public transportation. Only down side is parking. Not enough spots if the hotel is full and check your shower drain, some fill up so have the front desk send someone to clear it.. Basic breakfast buffet like normal times. Very nice we were there for 3 nights. First floor Rm 137.

The location of this hotel is in a very busy tourist district in downtown Troy, NY. I would recommend that if you book this hotel you ensure you arrive early. At the 8p.m check-in time there was no parking for a vehicle with trailer and no where else nearby could accommodate. Best Western will charge you anyway for a last minute cancellation even if it is because they can't accommodate parking. Book at your own risk.

The Hotel was clean and everything in the room worked as expected. Pet friendly. Staff was polite and very helpful. the check-in and check-out process was quick and efficient. Met all of our needs, but due to the location, parking was somewhat difficult and we had to hunt around, but was able to find some, but not always as close as we would expect.

The room was clean and nice. Covid protocols were in place, so towels were left outside the door to exchange for clean. The lobby was clean and a nice place for the family to gather. The staff was very helpful.

We had 40 rooms. upon check-in, never received my bag of water for being a BW member. The sink in room was clogged, and the breakfast was lousy. No hot items, but you could make your own waffles. Asked for early check in and was denied.

Troy is a quaint trendy area outside of Albany. Nice hotel. Very accommodating staff, very helpful. Recommended a great place for dinner within walking distance.  Clean rooms and property well maintained. Had cold breakfast items (yogurt, fruit, muffins, juice, coffee etc) due to Covid. Hotel is located in a trendy neighborhood and has beautiful architecture in the area. We would've stayed longer to explore the area if we could've. We were on our way to Brattleboro Vermont. We chose this location because they accept pets. We just started staying at BW Plus. We are pleased with this chain and this location. Will stay again whenever  in this area.

I was greeted with big smiles at check in from Dulce Ion and Kylee who were very helpful. It's nice to be greeted with a smile. This is a very nice clean well managed hotel. The rooms are a little small, but it doesn't matter because everything is so easy to get to. This is one of the nicer hotels I've stayed in. Service was great.

The entire team at the Franklin Inn went above and beyond to make sure each one of our wedding guests was well taken care of. Hospitality really runs in the blood with this team. Thank you so much!! Christian & Ashley

From the title of my review you can assume what I'm about to say ... This hotel was GREAT! It was clean, new, updated, had friendly staff, and overall was an amazing experience. It 100% has made Best Western Plus Hotels a top of the list contender whenever I travel moving forward.

We stay in this hotel whenever we visit Troy and have even come just to treat ourselves to a night away! Beautiful decor, rooms are lovely! Staff is truly exceptional! And we've met many dying our stays. The value is excellent walking distance to many fun restaurants and across the street from the famous Troy Farmers market!

We checked in to our room to find chunks of food around the bed and under the desk area. The fridge smelled and had food crumbs left in it. Everything felt and looked like it had not been cleaned, and the room smelled musty. I called the front desk to ask to switch rooms and was told they were sold out. I asked for someone to then clean the room and was told no one was available to do so, but that the employee would talk to his manager and be back in touch. A few minutes later the employee called our room back and asked us to step out of the room, I asked who was coming up and he said he would go “check it out” on his own (no follow up from the manager and no apologies for the food). We were on our way to a rehearsal dinner so I agreed. When we came back to our room, some of the floor had been cleaned but there were still crumbs on the floor. We were in town for a wedding and did not have much for options so late at night so we stayed. Parking was an entirely separate area of concern here - we circled the lot several times and finally asked what was going on with parking spaces. The young man at the desk was condescending and rude, and offered to draw us a “diagram” showing us where to park (we had already circled the property and were well aware nothing was available). The parking garage next door was apparently closed, so we ended up parking near the front of the hotel, not in a designated spot. One of our friends also in town for the wedding found red stains on her bay towel. The employees put zero effort into ensuring a comfortable stay here, I was shocked to have no follow up from the manager regarding the state of the room, and the availability of parking for paying guests was absolutely unacceptable.

Friendly front office staff greeted me on checking in. The room was clean and in good working order. I like the mini fridge available in the room and ability to open the window. Good fitness room with stationary bikes and many other options. The hotel is located in a quiet part of Troy by the river, but not directly on the river. Best Western Plus in Troy NY was an extremely wonderful stay. We were there for a wedding and they were really busy, but we felt as if we were the only family there. Ivan Mugerwa is the general manager there and he went above and beyond the call of duty. He was always running around making sure everything and everyone was taken care of, he made you feel like family!!! Ivan always took time out of his busy schedule to stop and say hi and make sure everything was good for us. We were in the lobby a lot playing cards or socializing with family we don't get a chance to see very often and they always made us feel welcomed and comfortable. Great location. Not the worst hotel I've stayed in, but surely not the best. Grab and go breakfast. Not great. Musty room and smelly halls. Loud A/C and shower. Will stay there one more time for an upcoming wedding. Will probably go somewhere else for my next visit to the Capital Region.

Good location in Troy. Friendly staff. Can't wait for COVID rules to be over. The rooms overlooking the water are the better ones - recently updated or new. There is a parking garage adjacent to the property, so there is plenty of parking.

When we arrived to check in to the hotel the girls behind the front desk acted as if it was an inconvenience to check us in. They were aloof and rude. Our room was next to the elevator shaft (just bad luck) and it was not until later that night that we realized just how noisy that would be. We were only there for 1 night so we dealt with it, but I would suggest ensuring that your room is not near the elevator. The hotel it self is very nice. It was clean and nicely decorated. The bathroom was small but enough space for one person to get ready. However, it was very poorly stocked. It required a visit to the rude desk staff to get what we needed. I understand during COVID that things don't always operate as we would like and I try to be understanding, but it feels like they just don't really care here about how happy their guests are. The hotel is in a great location and walkable to everything. Breakfast was a joke. After a week long trip filled with several hotels in NY state, I was pretty disappointed. At this stage in the game, if a hotel wants to make the effort, they can provide their guests a safe, warm breakfast. I feel like we should be moving past packaged granola bars and small yogurts counting as breakfast. Overall it was a good stay. I would stay at this hotel again only because of its exceptional location. Unfortunately I think they know they have cornered the market for location and therefore don't feel the need to make much of an effort with their guests.

The rudest desk personnel. Filthy elevator. Dusty room. Crappy refrigerator. 51°F. Not my idea of a refrigerator. I called the desk. They said "that's the way it works." It had a pause button on it! Who puts a pause button on a refrigerator? It took four and a half hours to get back to 35°F. It sucked.

I came to the Best Western Plus Franklin Square Inn Troy/Albany for my nieces wedding. I pick Best Western because we had 2 puppies which we got during the pandemic... meaning they have not traveled or been on 4 hour car trips. When I booked the room, I was assured that the staff is great and understanding of pets under all circumstances.... Well..... 15 minutes after leaving the room I got a call from Ivan, the manager, letting me know that my dogs were barking and that I would be kicked out of the room. I sent my son back to the room ( we were celebrating) and Ivan pulled my son aside to let him know that if the dog continued to make any noise we would have to leave... My son called me in a panic worried about what would happen and where would we go. When I spoke to Ivan, he let me know he had a distressed guest. I told him I am a distressed guest.. bottom line is Ivan was not kind or considerate at all. I actually felt like my son and I were threatened and bullied. I will NEVER EVER go back again.

A week spent here has given us a good chance to interact with the staff. Without exception, we've been treated with courtesy and genuine helpfulness. The rooms are well appointed, and anything that was lacking was supplied with a smile. Downtown Troy is full of good restaurants, and this hotel is a 30 second step across the street to Dinosaur BBQ. Highly recommended and reasonably priced.

Great location, can walk to RPI (wear comfortable shoes, the ascent is no joke!) and the Farmer's Market and all the cute downtown restaurants too. Hotel itself was clean and the continent's Covid breakfast was much better than I expected. Coffee was very good, I'd definitely downgrade a place for bad coffee, lol!

Located in the ♥️ of downtown Troy! Within easy walking distance of coffee shops, restaurants, wine bars, and the farmers market on Saturdays! Also an easy walk from the hotel to stroll and see all the beautiful historical businesses!

its a beautiful water side hotel, the city is working hard and looking good.its a historical city and the buildings show the great workmanship of the past . take some time and walk around the water front of the Hudson river and around the hotel lots of good bars and restaurants . the city is very mindful of the covid 19 and is looking out for all of us !! enjoy!

We visit the area often as our student attends RPI. This location is very clean and convenient to downtown Troy, right on the river. The room was recently repainted & carpet looked newer. Linens were just OK, this is a budget hotel, nothing fancy. There is a in room coffee maker & noisy fridge. Grab and go breakfast was adequate, there is Dinosaur BBQ right across the street & other options nearby. Heating unit was also noisy so if you are a sound sleeper this is a great stay for the money!

If you leave anything in the room consider it gone, my wife left her very nice London fog coat in the closet and you would think the hotel would let you know. Not only did they not call us but when we called them they said nothing was left in the room, thieves

I stayed 6 nights in the Plaza Suite for my daughter's wedding. The staff (Ivan and Cayla in particular) were exceptional— they could not do enough for us. Staying for 6 nights in this luxurious suite was perfect and exactly what this Mother-of-the- Bride needed. I loved the amount of room the suite offered- space to prepare for pre-wedding setup— and, sitting in front of the gas fireplace after busy days was relaxing. The bed was comfortable. Having the kitchen area with a full size refrigerator, microwave, full-size sink and Keurig was perfect. This definitely is “THE” place to stay!

I stay at Best Western when I visit my family and Best Western treated me like family every time! So when I stay at Best Wester I visit two family's my kids and my Best Western family and friends thank you for making feel at home!

This was the first time staying at a Best Western and it was a really good stay. The staff was friendly and helpful. We stayed for 9 days during Covid and we were concerned about safety. Everyone we saw, with the exception of a few other guests getting ice or running to their cars, were wearing face masks. The breakfast had a good selection of options considering Covid but the best was Jeremiah and Ivan at the front desk. Both of them were helpful with dining suggestions in the area as well as requests for additional items, coffee, towels, pillows. Above and beyond in customer service. The hotel sits right next to the Hudson and our room had a nice view. A nice plus was the farmers market across from the hotel. Fresh fruit, vegetables, food and novelty items... try the peanut butter from there! My husband and I will definitely stay there again when we are out that way.

This hotel need some customer service/ hospitality training. The 3 people were came in contact with obviously did not have any education in this field. The checkin person was on the phone and didn't acknowledge us for several minutes..... not even a quick smile or just a moment. The early morning/ over night staff was sleeping when we came down for bkfst ( obvious!!!.... coming out of back room rubbing eyes and yawning ) He couldn't answer any questions and “ didn't know” If they had coffee???? At check out we encountered another staff member who just answered “ ok” when we stated we were checking out. Didn't ask room number , inquire about our stay and say thank you !!!! Where is the manager/ owner of this place?? Others must know because we did not see another guest the entire time we were there ????

Staff could of been better,my check in was a mess and had someone accuse us of smoking in the $300 a night room I paid for. My room was still kind of dirty when I check in had to ask them to come in and sweep and wipe down tables bc there was dirt and dust everywhere. Everything else seemed ok, bed was amazing like I expected it to be and room was nice just seemed some of furniture was dated and needed to be replaced but no big deal.It was okay for the most part but this was one of the lower quality BWP hotels i've stayed at.

Great place in troy near Dinosaur Barbecue. Perfect for an overnight, Room was comfy and clean for three people. Shower was hot. Good nights sleep. Hot breakfast with many options was hot, good and Plentiful.

I was surprised on the quality of this hotel. very Clean. The Beds were top notch and comfy. The front desk crew were super polite and easy to communicate with. Great Morning Coffee! We will plan on staying there on our next trip to Troy, NY We parked our car and was able to walk to great restaurants and shops in minutes. This hotel is a great bang for the buck.

Can't be the price, cleanliness and location when staying at this hotel to visit our son at RPI. We have stayed at numerous hotels between Troy and Albany, even a couple AirBNBs and to date this Best Western offers the most for the price.

My fiancée and I recently spent a weekend night at your hotel. The facility is obviously newly redone and very clean and comfortable. The room was large, the lighting excellent As well as a huge shower stall. The king size bed was excellent. The Breakfast bar is an added plus that is greatly appreciated. Lastly, the location was perfect to boot the mall and local restaurants.

I was extremely impressed with our stay. The check-in and check-out process was quick and painless. The whole place was extremely clean and welcoming. The Breakfast was huge! Something for everyone, hot and cold. Highly recommend!

Was nervous when I heard our hockey group booked at a Best Western. They have reinvented the name. Great place, friendly staff, nice clean, spacy rooms. Very modern decor. Right across from the Dinosaur BBQ . Can't go wrong.

Traveling with family and needed an animal friendly hotel. When I talked on the phone the guy promised me the room for no more then $120 a night and even said If it turned out to be more that he would discount it. When I got there it turned out to be $130 and he said there was nothing he could do for me. Got to the room which was very dated and the TV remote didn't work, went to the front desk and he was unable to help me so really couldn't use the tv. When I went to the desk to ask for help he was no where to be seen and had to wait five minutes for him and when he emerged looked like he had just been on his phone out back. Didn't sleep well as the heater in the room was very loud and decided to kick on full blast even when I had it on low. When I got up for breakfast the new staff member had his feet up on the desk staring at his phone and barely greeted hotel guests. No one ever offered to help with bags despite hands being extremely full. Hotel staff needs to be trained to be more professional, would not recommend this hotel for the price point.

We arrived tired, happy and excited to stay at this hotel. A wedding in full flow with happy guests tuxedoed and 'glammed out' to the max added to the the fun and excitement. It was therefore a shocking disappointment when we proceeded to check in and the underwhelming welcome we experienced. The Receptionist could in no way be described as warm let alone 'friendly'. I began to feel a distinct unease when the room allocated to us on a key card was crossed through and a reallocation to another room submitted. When this was queried, she claimed the room was no longer available. As odd as it sounded we accepted her reasoning. On opening the door of the newly allocated room. We choked on the nauseating stale smell of musty, dirty feet and what smelt like stale smoke, sweaty feet and spicy food. It was suffocating. Unable to tolerate it, we returned to reception to ask for our room to be changed. The same receptionist along with her co-worker greeted me. I tried to explain the smell at which she looked at us with such disdain which made me feel that not only did she not care, she claimed there was nowhere else. She grudgingly offered to move us to the room next door. We also pointed out that the room was quite small as we had not realised that the beds would be double beds thinking that queen sized would be bigger. We asked if she could move us to a larger room to which she replied that all the rooms were a similar size. On entering the second room, it was just as tiny and the smell seem to be sleeping through the walls from the first room. We purchased air freshener to help alleviate the smell but it only seem to make matters worse. (I suspected that the receptionist may have let her unconscious bias colour her judgement). Returning to the desk once more thankfully there had been a shift change. I spoke to the loveliest warmest member of Staff, Sarah. This lady was outstanding in her manner and behaviour in every way. Excellent, professional who listened and acted. We are so grateful for the way in which she dealt with everything. Not only did she move us, she was not dismissive and helpfully suggested what might be the cause for the pungent odour. The new room was clean bright and comfortable. Other members of staff who were also very helpful included the Senior House Keeper Sylvia and her colleagues Candy and Matthew. These four staff members are a great asset to this establishment. As a result our stay was memorable for all the right reasons. So a Big Thank You to you all.

Hotel is nice, clean and central location. How ever at check in staff could not figure out how to check me in with a gift card. Left till next day. Stopped and told day shift person. Never told. I pointed to my paper work and gift card behind her. She said she would handle it. We had another reservation for 2 more nights. She said she would handle check out and back in same room. Few hours later got call from home that we never check out and left stuff in the room. Had to make a trip back to hotel, can'ft find number on site, you get reservation desk. Upon return new person said he figured it out. Parking lot is very small and no one told us there is a parking garage you can use. Noise from hall way last night was very loud. Did not bother complaining as it seem to be a function of some sort and lots of alcohol. I dis still like the hotel and the staff was pleasant but seems some more training may be needed. Would return it need to.

I stayed here with my family in Christmas, a stop before Vermont. Location: hotel is one block away from highway, East to find follow google map direction Services: excellent services during checkin and checkout Room: decent size. This is more like a private boutique hotel. The rooms have been recently renovated in a tasteful decor. There are photos of local architecture from an area photographer throughout. The breakfast buffet that is included is much better than most places, with a nice selection of foods and a nicely furnished eating area. It is walking distance to a lot of restaurants and shops in the area. We were there for a wedding weekend with family and friends. The staff were all wonderful - very professional and helpful.

I was pleasantly surprised with this hotel. I expected very basic but it was more than that. I used the laundry facility with no problems. Bed was comfortable and room was very good. Only issue I had was that I was not able to upload videos on the WIFI.

Had a fantastic stay at the Best Western Franklin Square while making a college visit to RPI. Extremely helpful staff and convenient location! Troy is developing quickly and I can definitely see my son going to college here and us visiting frequently.

We were a party of 10 with 6 rooms reserved and our check-in experience was WONDERFUL. The keys were ready to go . . . the rooms were ready to go . . . and they even had a social hour and we were able to all eat pizza and have soft drinks. What a blessing that was. I highly recommend this hotel and their personnel. The rooms were beautiful and the beds were comfortable. The bathrooms were clean.

Staff is pleasant and professional. Rooms are comfortable and clean. Stayed in the suites which can get a lot of noise and from outside. Rooms upstairs were much quieter. Breakfast is included in the stay and has always been a big hit. Tasty and a nice selection.

Overall a great stay and super convenient location for my sons wedding across the street from Franklins Plaza. Room was a little on the small size and kind of humid at times. Other than that clean and updated. Would definitely stay again.

Room was not ready. After an hour of waiting, had to demand a room. Staff was still cleaning at 5:00 Was not given the room I reserved well in advance. We ended up being late to our event. Mold on shower tiles. And dogs in hotel Thought animals were not allowed. They were running around on long leashes in lobby/lounge area. This hotel is clean and modern. Its located right the in heart of Troy's downtown area. There were tons of restaurants in walking distance, its near RPI, and there is even a farmers market out of their back door on Saturday's! I would choose this hotel every time I came to the capital region area. Every person on their staff that I encountered was so friendly and willing to help.

The check on time was late. We were tired. The clerk was so accommodating. Especially with the parking. Room was nice overall. Lobby was awesome. The decor throughout the hotel was amazing. Artistic style photos of local buildings.

Made my reservation the day I needed the room - price jumped from $106/night to $169/night. Got the room by the elevator, view of roof and curtains don't close to keep out morning light. It's clean. Check in staff was nice *to me* but whoever called was on death hold. Nice soaps. Fridge in room, coffee maker in room. Vending machines directly across from the haha room.

Check in/out was efficient. Room was on the small side. It was clean and comfortable which is what really matters to me. The entire staff was helpful, friendly and professional. Good value and great location.

Have stayed at this Best Western 3 or 4 times now. Each time has been a good experience. Our first stay we arrived late and were hungry. The manager called the restaurant across the street which was closing soon and said we were coming over and we were greeted there warmly. Our third stay there, the hotel was undergoing renovations and we were given an newly renovated, upgraded room at no extra cost - it was fantastic and we were very appreciative. The hotel is very clean and service by staff exceptional. This visit was the first I wasn't 100% happy. There was no on site parking available so we were directed to a nearby parking garage, which they have privileges at. It didn't feel safe so glad I was with my husband. There was a block walk with luggage to get to the hotel. Valet service would have been nice - or more on site parking spots!

Spent three nights at this hotel in August 2019. The standard rooms are a good size and have all the facilities needed - Iron/Ironing Board, Coffee Machine etc. The hotel also has various vending machines and a laundry room. The hotel seemed generally quiet. The breakfast is a little basic, but thats about the worst thing I could say. The location is good for central Troy, its litterally a 2-3 minute walk to the downtown area.

We had a good stay here, the bed was good. We had a room for 4 persons, it was a bit small and there were only 2 towels, we also missed a safe in the room. We asked for more and they brought it right away. We wanted to use the iron but it was broken. There is on-site parking and free breakfast

Our daughters wedding was at the Franklin Plaza this past weekend. We had 54 rooms booked at the Best Western Plus Franklin Square! Every guest was so impressed with the beautiful decor, in both the rooms and the stunning lobby! We reserved the Mezzaluna room for a post, rehearsal dinner gathering as well as a post wedding brunch that began after the hotels breakfast ended. Leslie and her staff had the room looking beautiful in the linens my daughter chose, they were ALL so helpful and accommodating! The rooms are quiet, beautiful and well appointed. Our daughter had the Plaza suite (one of the two) the night before the wedding, and can I just say WOW!! What a stunning room!! From the power drapes, the wrap around balcony, the double sided fireplace, HUGE soaking tub, and a TV IN the Mirror!!! WHAT??? Is this an HGTV dream suite? Lol. We had 12 women getting hair and makeup with 5 stylists, and it was comfortable!! Our son in law had his groomsmen in the Fulton Suite, and again, what a handsome room, large, beautifully appointed and elegant. All the rooms are beautiful, immaculate and stylish, with granite counters, coffee makers and really comfortable beds and pilllows! I travel a lot and so often the “free wifi” never connects, this place was instant connected. Then last but not least, this staff made us feel like they were as excited to celebrate our event as we were, constantly asking “if we can do anything or get you anything please let us know! They were totally patient with our guests who pushed the check out time, and chased after guests who left items in their room. The owners of the Franklin Plaza, and Franklin Terrace, own this hotel which is brilliant . The hotel staff told me that the way they see it is, they are the first impression for our wedding weekend and the last touch, which keeps everyone wanting to do their best all the time. Well guys, mission accomplished!!! We couldn't be happier!!

The front staff at this Best Western is top notch. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was kept well stocked. The location is close to shopping and great restaurants. Even though the hotel is located near events and happenings it was very quiet at night.

Overall the staff were peasant but I expected much more for $172.00 a night. Room was ok but had no microwave. Parking was very difficult to find. At times none existent! Staff was as helpful and pleasant as could be. Don't feel it was worth money spent!!!

Our son got married in Troy, NY in July and we stayed at the Best Western Plus Franklin Square Inn. It was the perfect location since it was across from the wedding reception venue. Our family and friends stayed in the hotel and it was a great experience. We had the Fulton Suite. There was plenty of room for everyone to get ready and have pictures taken. The small kitchen allowed me to provide lunch for the groomsmen before the wedding ceremony. The staff at the hotel went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect for us!

I chose this hotel because it was listed as dog friendly. IT TRULY IS! I needed to stay overnight the week before, I chose a supposedly pet friendly hotel in Albany but was charged a very high pet fee (for a 4lb chihuahua, and was made to feel like we didn't belong there. For the second week that I needed to stay in a hotel I chose this one. So glad I did. Everything was clean from the grounds, to the entry, to the hallways, to the rooms. No need for extra perfumed cleaning agents to mask smells. They reserve the first floor rooms for dog parents which gives easy access to the outdoors for potty trips. It's a quiet hotel so there isn't a lot of commotion to disturb nervous fur children. If you have a fur child who is extra sensitive, or that you worry about housekeeping entering and you prefer to take care of your own bed and can switch out your own towels be sure to let the front desk know. They will completely accommodate your request and will ask in what ways they can assist you to get what you need. So happy I found this place! I will be using them every time I visit my daughter ( who has recently moved to the area).

We were on trip out to Laconia bike week and this was a good stop over. Room was clean, staff friendly and breakfast yummy. Hotel was easy to get to with several things close by that made the stay comfortable. Bed was very good and parking for the bike made available.

Stayed here for a wedding at Franklin Plaza Ballroom. Location was perfect (just across the street from venue) and close to bars and restaurants. Thought it was a little pricey for Troy but proximity to wedding was too great to pass up. Very clean. Friendly staff.

My husband and I were traveling to visit family and needed a place to stop for the night. We came in last night around 10pm, got a very comfortable King room to get some sleep and a shower. We got much more. The room and bathroom were spotless, beautifully decorated and breakfast was nice. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone.

Stayed here for 2 nights in May as a guest of a wedding being held locally. We reserved the regular king room and were provided early check in with ease. The room was tiny. I mean microtel tiny (if you've stayed in one of them), but it was clean and up to date with the standard amenities. Parking was scarce but the City garage is right next door, which is very helpful. Troy appeared fairly vibrant with much going. The hotel is right next to dinosaur bbq which is a tremendous bbq restaurant and is highly recommended. There is plenty of bars within walking distance which can provide some late night entertainment as well.

What an unexpected pleasure to stay at this motor lodge. Everything was top notch. We were ungraded to a suite and it was deluxe, with hardwood floors, lovely decor, a whirlpool bath, loads of space and charm, and the most comfortable mattress ever, with deluxe linens. The breakfast was outstanding, with top-quality ingredients and lots of variety. Everything was tasty and enjoyable. The eating area is attractive. The service was strong. The location is excellent. This motor lodge is run to the same high standards as the owner's posh hotel across the street, which is an unexpected delight.

Good location for downtown Troy, but really small rooms and the stink. I tried 3 different rooms, all have this awful disinfectant smell. In my opinion, the rooms are in the $70 category, the lobby and specially the fitness room is nice, the elevator really slow. Try another hotel if you can, this is far to expensive.

Some of the rooms have been updated, but the room I stayed in was outdated. The bathroom was not clean, and not all of the electrical outlets functioned properly. Many amenities were not included (no hair dryer/iron/spare blankets in room) Continental breakfast was great with a nice spread of breakfast-food options. Hotel staff were courteous. General overall appearance of the lobby area was reasonable even though my room was sub-par. The hotel is not in the nicest part of town, but there were lots of places to eat within walking distance if you felt comfortable walking around town.Parking was far less than ideal - parking lot filled rapidly, then we were left to find street parking.

Not a bad place just a little pricey . Checking in and out was not to bad, but we did not check in until after 9 pm.The breakfast buffet was the best. The BBQ place across the street was okay just dont go to close to closing time.

Ideal location in the heart of Troy. Walking distance to cafes and restaurants and shopping. Located on the Hudson River with easy access to RPI. If you're there for a wedding at Franklin Plaza you couldn't be any closer. Staff was great, very attentive to our groups needs. Rooms a little tight but for most part clean.

The hotel has a great location as it is walking distance to downtown. The hotel is clean and the personnel are most helpful. The hot breakfast was excellent with two kinds of scrambled eggs, two kinds of potatoes, sausage, hot cereal, and pancakes.

The better-half had spent the week petsitting and working remotely in a nearby town, but we wanted to explore Troy so I met him for a Friday night stay. We were impressed overall by the city The Best Western Plus Franklin Square is a great place from which to explore Troy. It is conveniently located near the downtown shops and restaurants. Our room had a city view, which was fine, but it might be nicer to have a river view, so you could ask for that. The room was quiet. There was a big fridge (which we didn't use) and a big television (which we didn't use). The bed was super-comfy. The heat worked (a big plus in the northern part of the state)! It was clean and comfortable. The included breakfast was quite decent with plenty of choices. I'd stay here again.

this was better than staying with family because they weren't,and they acted the way walt disney movies would portray things.real people living real lives ,making a difference for others.did i mention norman rockwell.

The property is very nice on the inside. "Best Western Plus" is not your father's old "Best Western" motel. But for the price they charge, they should pay more attention to room design. They buy and install cheap "through the wall" heater/AC units in each room. The fans are LOUD, the A/C compressors are LOUDER. Bring EARPLUGS!

We have had our junior hockey team hosted at the Franklin Inn for four years and always have experienced exceptional hospitality. All staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are exceptional, tariff is great and facilities perfect for our team. We will be back for many years. The motel is in a great spot for our needs.

I went to the hotel website to book a room. When I clicked to book the room I was redirected to a third party called "bookaroom.com". I assumed I was still on the hotel website. After making the reservation, I discovered I was given the wrong hotel information. I called the following day and attempted to cancel the reservation. I was then told that the reservation could not be cancelled because it was booked through"bookaroom.com". Be careful of this deceptive and fraudulent practice when making a reservation here.

Best Westerns have been impressing me lately. This hotel has a modern look and feel. Fitness center one of the best out there. large breakfast area. in a quiet spot and close to restaurants. Front desk also impressed me. Adrian was very attentive. Always with a smile and happy to help me. awesome!

This hotel has "custom" decor which makes it very innovative, comfortable and relaxing. The staff are warm, friendly and very helpful. The location in downtown Troy is perfect for business, dining and boutique shopping.

We had to travel longer than we wanted to and were very tired. We were very surprised at the quality of this hotel when we arrived. It was extremely nice. Recently remolded and with many upgrades. The room was exceptional and the lobby was beautiful. We had a nice breakfast but since it was crowded the meat was non-existent. Otherwise it was good. They should have prepared better for the crowd at breakfast.

We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights as part of a wedding celebration. The room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was pretty good, too, and the dining area in the lobby was bright and sunny. For us the location was perfect: we could walk to a bunch of restaurants and the wedding reception was directly across the street at the Franklin Plaza. The only negative was the size of our room (#204) -- it was tiny, especially for a stay of 4 nights. A friend paid the same as we did and her room (#208) was longer (but same size bathroom). Others had much larger double rooms. So my advice is to inquire carefully about the size of the room you reserve.

From an amazingly comfortable and clean guest room, a welcoming great room with a tasty breakfast, and easy access to the stores, shops, dinosaur BBQ and the majestic Hudson, this was a trip that was outstanding! The staff was super friendly, helpful and very accommodating.

The hotel is in beautiful condition, new and clean. Bed was hard as a rock, the door to the room is so thin you can hear every conversation in the hallway. Parking is limited so we had to park in the garage next door, not well lit.

Room was upgraded since we are members. Greeted promptly upon arrival. All information given by a smiling front desk attendant (appreciate the smile!). The room was in pristine condition. Had enough towels. Very clean. Lots of pillows. Space to spread out. Breakfast was awesome. Quite a spread and variety of everything in the room. It was very clean, bright and well-staffed. Would definitely stay here again. Next door is Dinosaur Barbeque. Best BBQ that we've had in some time. A nice addition to walk to since we were unfamiliar with the area.

Hotel has it all- newly refurbished and love what they did to it. Comfy beds. Good location. Great breakfast, including a couple gluten free items. Beautiful bathrooms and decor and excellent staff all around. It gets booked up pretty quickly around popular college weekends so book well in advance.

The staff, from the front desk to housekeeping, couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating. The location was perfect. We were there for a wedding and could walk to everything. We can't wait to go back.

Everyone at the hotel was very friendly and helpful. The free breakfast had everything you could possibly want at breakfast. There was free parking and close to shops and restaurants. I left a large umbrella in my room. The staff went back and retrieved it. They mailed it back to my house free of charge.

This is a thoroughly deluxe property throughout. Every aspect of it was way above average and what one might expect at a luxury hotel costing a lot more. It has just been remodeled and everything throughout is essentially brand new and just gorgeous. The design of both the common areas and the rooms is elegant. Our room had every amenity and the TV worked great and I believe it had a lot of channels. The staff on the front desk were all amazing, considerably above average in professionalism and friendliness. They also made a great recommendation for dinner and recommended a place we really, really liked (Dinosaur BBQ). The breakfast was very nice. Although we were able to park on site (just barely as we got the last spot), they do have a plan for overflow parking which I think is great management. At $140, we thought this was quite reasonably priced. There was simply nothing to criticize here about anything. Loved this place and will stay here again if ever in Troy. FYI, this place is located just off the highway and thus is very convenient for travelers just passing through. Will be posting a video on YouTube soon showing how nice the place truly is.

The hotel was well mantained and the staff was always very open and helpfull. If you need a taxi, please take into account that the taxi service they use is not really responsible, so it is better Uber if is not urgent. Enjoy Troy! :)

This Best Western is lovely and the breakfast gets a 10. French toast, sausage, scrambled eggs, hash browns, yogurt, 4 types of juices and 4 types of fruit. Plus, cereal, muffins, and cinnamon rolls. The rooms are clean and neat. The only negative was when we arrived at our room the ac was set to 60. It was freezing and the shower curtain would not stay in the shower so we got water on the floor in the bathroom.

This is a beautiful hotel, being remodeled and in a lovely area. Breakfast is one of the best I have experienced in this chain. Artwork around the hotel is excellent. As long as you don't encounter any issues it is great. Apparently they are having power grid issues, Power kept going off and on all night. TV rebooted loud each time into on. Woke us up all night. Husband couldn't sleep due to CPAP not working with no power. Made for a miserable next day. Management blew me off and told me it wasn't their issue since it was power company not them. Connecting door to next room either hollow door or not insulated. Could hear every word and movement from them even when they were not being loud and obnoxious. If you want a good interupted nights sleep look elsewhere.

This hotel is in a great part of town making it easy to walk around and enjoy the shops, restaurants, and coffee shops nearby. Parking was always available. My room was clean and comfortable, so really no complaints there. My first impression of the hotel was not perfect, however, as one of the women working reception was quite unfriendly and not helpful. We called down to the front desk after checking in as well to inquire about a late check-out, but they were also unable to help and seemed unaware of this concept. I will say that the gentleman working the late shift down there was very friendly, as was housekeeping. Ultimately I had a fine stay at the hotel, and I would come back.

Stayed here on a Saturday night. Room was very clean. Loved the barn doors on the bathroom and shower. Comp. breakfast was good, plenty of choices. The only negative is that it has limited parking. We had to park on the street when we came back at night.

The hotel was well situated in the city and the staff friendly. Accommodation very comfortable. The food at breakfast time was ok but the staff allowed the hot food trays to run completely down which resulted in people having to lin e up!

We stayed one night for a wedding held across the street. The room was standard, looked clean. I was allowed to book an hour early and I appreciated that after a long drive. Good: location, especially for the popular wedding venue across the street. Breakfast is great, loads of options, clean. Bad: bed has a large loud plastic sheet on it, crinkled all night with every move. Pillows were awful for me, so puffy; I removed them and slept with no pillows. The room came with a nice closet, good sized fridge, ironing board. We could hear the people in the next room very clearly, so I'll assume the walls are super thin. I did not hear street noise, just the man and woman talking through the wall, and they weren't shouting, just having a conversation. Overall I liked how the room looked and it's location and breakfast, but I slept very poorly due to the crinkling and bad/no pillows.

Although the hotel looks clean, they do not vacuum their carpets at all! After walking around my room barefoot for only an hour, the bottoms of my feet were BLACK and covered with hair that did not belong to me!!! They need to vacuum and deep clean their carpets!!

I went there for my cousin's wedding along with several other family members. The hotel staff were so friendly, helpful and courteous! The location was right across the street from the wedding venue and the town of Troy is very quaint and welcoming. It was a great experience and their breakfast was a wonderful start to each day!

I tried to stay at the Hotel for a wedding being held across the street June 30th 2018. Upon coming back to the room at ~12am my wife an I pulled back the comforter to find that the sheets had not been changed from the previous guest(s) - the sheets were covered in hair and other particles. The front desk had nobody available to clean the room or any other available rooms. We had to leave the hotel at 12:30am at night.....what a dump.

My husband and I stayed at the Best Western Plus Franklin Square Inn Troy/Albany on an overnight trip to Albany. We arrived late (~12am) and had a hard time finding parking. We were finally able to squeeze our car into one small space we found. Check-in went smoothly and quickly, and we were in our rooms no more than 15 minutes after entering the hotel. The room didn't have a lot of frills but it was comfortable. We were exhausted from a long drive and slept very well. The temperature of the room stayed as cool as we set it and the bed was very comfortable. We had plenty of space to get ready the next morning. The hair dryer worked a bit slowly, but it was about what you'd expect from a hotel hair dryer. The location was close enough to some stores and restaurants to find everything we needed. I would recommend this hotel to someone looking for a short stay with no "extras."

This hotel gives a great first impression when you walk in and a few of the staff go were very nice. The first problem is parking or lack of. Hotel is under construction and contractors are taking up many guest spaces so you might have to park in city parking garage, not safe. Next is the run down rooms, stained comforter, sheets with holes in them, a layer of dust on everything, floors that were not vacuumed properly and the worst of all, body hair, and not just one, on the sheets. I called front desk who at first told me they were sold out and could bring clean sheets and then called back with another like room was available. This staff member was very apologetic but this is unacceptable. AC units are loud and do not keep temperature consistent and just to finish off the trip, cleaning ladies cut in front of myself and other guests for breakfast. Unacceptable and would never stay there again or recommend to anyone.

With the threat of bad weather, I needed to get inside. I'm glad that I made the reservation. This hotel is one of the best hotels that I've stopped at. Desk staff were very professional. I was quickly checked in. A plus for me was the freshly baked m&m cookies that I grabbed a handful before getting on the elevator. The room on the third floor was really nice. Everything was in good working order. There was a micro-fridge but no microwave. Very large flat screen. Strong wifi signal. Comfortable bed. Thick blackout curtain that got the room dark. Breakfast was fantastic. The french toast, scrambled eggs, and hash browns were fantastic.

Clean, accommodating, restful and they have a superb self service breakfast set-up. So I was visiting because of a wedding next door, Kayla at the front desk was really helpful in setting my room up. The process was really seam less. We arrived to our room really late and they did not have any of the Deluxe rooms available so I was skeptical. NOT TO WORRY, my room was clean , small but clean and comfortable for both me and my boyfriend. The Deluxe rooms are beautiful though, as my other family members were able to snag on of them. SO I would of given the hotel 4 stars if it wasn't for the disturbing phone call I received the following day after I checked out. I received a phone call from an alleged police officer, stating that someone had stole the MIAD'S phone. I said sir, okay and he said we have cameras that show that person coming from your room. He states are you local.... FIRST OF ALL , why would ME A HOTEL GUEST need to still a cellphone from a MAID!!!! ASK YOURSELF THAT. Not only was I offended but utterly disgusted that the hotel would even allow them to contact guest accusing them of stealing anything. Furthermore I didn't have maid service my entire stay, so I am not sure what they were talking about. Although all best western are privately own I can assure they would not approve of this type of behavior.!!!!

Clean, accommodating, restful and they have a superb self service breakfast set-up that really sealed the deal for me. The staff was very courteous especially the 2 gentlemen who kept everything stocked and refreshed in the self-service breakfast area.

This is the second time I stayed here but didn't realize it was a pet-friendly hotel until we stopped on our floor and saw a man walk out of his room with his dog. This was fine, the hotel was not noisy due to pets, but when we got to our room, it smelled strongly like a wet dog. Because we arrived so late and were exhausted from moving our college son out of the dorm at RPI, I didn't bother asking for another room.

Got a pet friendly room , Room Wreaked of wet dog. Tried to air out room with bathroom vent, bathroom vent was broken. Windows do not open, There was only one sheer curtain that provided minimal privacy . Curtain was not able to block the street lights at night nor the sun in the morning. There was only 25 accessible channels on their Direct TV . The soda machine was also broken. Leslie at check in was excellent and the main lobby looked nice but after that it was down hill.

The hotel has been renovated with comfortable rooms and inviting lobby. Breakfast was varied and the oatmeal was perfect (not always easy to find). The was convenient to many downtown with many restaurants and cute shops nearby. Local people were helpful and friendly. I think the hotel is a great place to stay and will definitely go back if in the area.

The motel was very clean and nice. the staff were professional. Hallway at night was a little loud, but stay was comfortable. We had a wedding across the street, which made it extremely convenient! The photos throughout the building were of Troy, and were very tastefully done! Plenty of parking. Our room overlooked the Hudson river, that was a nice view. I would recommend this motel if you are staying in the Capitol region.

This is a very nice, clean, charming hotel in downtown Troy. We were here on college tour, and the front desk informed us kindly they offer RPI discounts if we visit next time. We walked from the hotel to tour the streets in Troy. Many interesting old Victorian buildings. It is also very close to RPI.

We have been on College tours so we have seen a lot of mid-priced hotels around NE and this little "Gem" has it all. Rooms are clean and bright. Bedding and Pillows are firm. (could use a nightlight in the bathroom). Breakfast staff was two young men that made sure everything was stocked and clean. They smiled and made eye contact as they worked. Scrambled eggs were made two different ways (Plain and Steak, Cheese Pepper and Eggs) and kept fresh. Good selection of fresh pastries and yogurts, excellent coffee machine! All the other things like waffles and fresh fruit that you would expect. Shout out to Karl at the from desk in the morning. I needed to print a parking pass that had been mailed to me. He asked me to forward the email to him and he would print it. For some reason the email wasn't coming through. when I told it was for a Rensselaer parking pass, he said no problem, and went through past emails found one he had don for a prior guest, printed it and we were on our way! The front desk crew the night before also gave us great detailed reviews of restaurants within walking distance.

We always stay at The Franklin on our visits to Troy. It's in the heart of historical downtown, with easy walking to all the great restaurants, shops and bars, and your only steps away from Troys fantastic farmers market on Saturdays! Year after year, the staff is the same, and always so helpful and friendly. You feel as though you're staying with family! Rooms are well appointed and very clean!

The friendliest staff here we've ever met in our experiences; they treat us like family, go out of their way to please and genuinely enjoy helping! The rooms are neat, clean and well maintained. The décor is clean, elegant and comfortable. Nice vibe. The popularity here is great, too. Always something going on. The breakfast is tasty with an assortment of delicious foods...with 24 hours courtesy infused iced citrus water and cookies :) It's so peaceful here you'd never know you are in the hub of traffic and nightlife. Great value for your money. Worth every moment :)

The room was clean and comfortable. The parking was easy. The breakfast was good. And the hotel has tremendously convenient proximity to the many attractive aspects of downtown Troy. But perhaps the distinguishing characteristic of this hotel is the friendly staff. Especially during crummy weather, settling in for the night at this inviting place was a genuine pleasure.

Hotel entered incomplete information in Booking.com causing a surprise extra amount to be due at checkout. Not a big amount ($19) but an unpleasant surprise. Front Desk staff did not offer to reduce bill by this amount. Heating system in room extremely noisy, even at low fan setting.

The Best Western Plus Franklin Square Inn was the hotel we chose to host our wedding guests for our April wedding at the Franklin Plaza in downtown Troy, NY. When we booked the block initially the hotel was beginning renovations and adding rooms/suites. We began working with Leslie King who was incredible from the jump. Leslie and her staff did everything and then some to make out wedding weekend incredible. We used the Mezzaluna room for our guest on fri and sat and her staff went above and beyond making it work incredible for our needs. By the end of the weekend our guests all knew the staff by name and couldnt stop raving about how accomodating they are. The new rooms are absolutely beautiful and the renovated areas of the hotel were awesome as well. The morning breakfast was incredible for what you think of a free hotel b reakfast. There isnt a better location to stay in downtown Troy, you're in the heart of all the action the city has to offer. Our guests loved staying here and we were so happy from start to finish. Cant thank everyone enough!

This is great clean hotel and in a good location for exploring the downtown on foot. I had an issue with noise of AC/heater unit but rest of stay was great. They have a clean spacious breakfast area with good selection.

This was a very nice, very clean hotel, with excellent fitness center, breakfast, and staff who helped me out when I misplaced some of my possessions. The fitness center was extremely nice with a better variety of equipment than most. The breakfast also had a wide variety of very good options. I was struck by the cleanliness of the hotel throughout.

I was in Troy for four nights at the Best Western Plus to take care of my college student after surgery. He stayed at the hotel with me to avoid the chaos of the dorm. When I arrived, I explained my situation and asked if the breakfast room, meticulously clean, with coffee and microwave etc was available 24 hours. It was indeed, but the staff went above and beyond by delivering a microwave to my room within minutes so that I could heat up food for him that he could tolerate. Anything I needed, any request was met with unfailing helpfulness and very personable professionalism. The housekeeping staff worked around us and delivered anything we needed. I just can't say enough about the customer service we received from each and every member of the staff I interacted with. But it wasn't just the customer service that was worthy of note. The rooms were comfortable and clean as a whistle. The breakfast was plentiful with a lot of options, eggs fixed multiple ways, waffles, yogurt, potatoes, breakfast sandwiches etc depending on the day. I loved the hot oatmeal with toppings. It was delicious and I had it every morning. The coffee machine was terrific and the coffee was fantastic! The location is great, directly across the street from a fantastic BBQ restaurant and within short walking distance to a slew of other restaurant, of all types and ethnicities, and coffee shops. The staff was more than helpful again with suggestions and maps. My son was on a limited diet but I wasn't so that was welcome. The Hotel is also quote close to the college. I would make it a point to stay here again, and when I left, I made sure to tell the folks at the desk that I had a better stay here than at some 5-star properties where I've stayed. The only lack would be a restaurant on site for the occasional room service, particularly in the situation I was in, but there are so many options in the immediate area that it really wasn't a problem.

We spent one night here while on a college visit. A great hotel! Good location in downtown Troy. Easy to walk to several restaurant options. Staff at front desk are super friendly and helpful. Gentleman keeping cookies and the breakfast full was awesome. Hard working and friendly. Our room was very nice; not super large, but fine for us and our short visit. Seemed recently painted. Looks like it might be getting new carpet soon, just because it doesn't match the hall. Everything maintained and as expected. Breakfast in the morning was excellent. Large area, plenty of tables. Many, many options all filled and delicious. Probably one of the better hotel breakfasts we have had. We would stay here again.

I arrived in Troy late on a Friday night with my 2 sons in tow to visit colleges. I had accidently booked my room for the next night. Damon at the front desk didn't miss a beat. Without making me look foolish (even though it was entirely my fault!) he canceled my reservation for the following night, rebooked me for the night I actually arrived AND honored my price even though the only room left available was a deluxe room. He was AWESOME. And, the hotel itself it lovely. Very clean and welcoming.

This location is quaint. The front desk staff are well-dressed and professional. Some of the rooms are newly renovated, so be sure to request one that is. I did not try the breakfast, but the breakfast area looked clean and well-spaced. We have stayed here twice and would come again if in the Albany/Troy area.

On our way to Florida, we were looking for a hotel for one night. We found the Best Western Plus a nice hotel well located in the heart of downtown Troy/Albany. The room was comfortable and the staff friendly.

We were there for a wedding on Ne Years Eve, The staff was very professional and courteous. . The hotel is beautiful and the rooms were very nice.. The breakfast the next morning was excellent. If you wanted something special the staff was there to assist you n any manner

I booked this hotel for an RPI visit. Unfamiliar with the area, I expected a very nice hotel based on description, reviews and price. Very disappointed to find an old, poorly maintained, and dirty place. Parking is separate from the hotel and I did not feel quite safe walking from parking garage to hotel at night.

Due to snowy conditions, I arrived very late, 3:00 a.m. The desk clerk got me checked in. The parking lots were all full due to snow so parked in the driving lane along with a box truck. The front walkway had been shoveled and ice melt put down. The lobby was free of any snow or water. Javun, the young man who runs the breakfast, does a wonderful job. He kept everything full, all counters were wiped down, he checked back frequently to assist patrons and he made sure the dining tables were cleared off. Everything was fresh, hot, and appetising.

Ivan the manager was friendly and helpful. All the staff was very caring and accommodated to all of our requests.I would recommend staying here. The breakfast was great. They had a large selection. Everyone could find something they truly enjoyed. The rooms were newly renovated with more work on the way. It was in the heart of Troy and parking was easy.

Dirty bedding left in the room. Very lackluster response from staff, including inability to call the front desk and being told to move the dirty laundry myself. Room was dirty and a bit run down too. The free breakfast was very good though.

I had a nice visit at the hotel. The location was perfect while I attended a wedding across the street. I was in walking distance of entertainment and nice restaurants. The breakfast bar in the morning was perfect, very simple and good. I recommend staying.

The BW exceeded my expectations. The room decor was very nice, the beds were super comfortable and the room was spacious. During our stay, the temperature outside was very cold, and yet the temperature in our room was perfect.

Stayed here for four nights. Attended a conference in the Franklin square itself. Stay was very good. The room was very spacious for singles. Ventilation was good. It was having good air conditioning system. Room was very clean and the design was good. Staffs were courteous. I had to checkout at odd hour but the staffs very helpful in that odd hour and helped me to get a taxi to go to the airport. I had buffet breakfast at the hotel on all 3 days. I am a pure vegetarian and I had lots of good variety of food for morning breakfast. On the whole it was a very pleasant stay and enjoyed it.

Want to make you aware of a Excellent Hotel. Free Parking, Easy Check in and Check Out. Room was very clean with Nice Barbecue Eats and Bar right across the Street. Will be back in 2018. Stay at many Hotels and add this on my come back list.

Don't let the name foul you, this place is above and beyond amazing. Stayed in a renovated room and it was fabulous. The staff was extremely accommodating and super friendly. Stay here and you will be back again and again.

All staff was courteous, professional and accommodating. Hotel was modern and clean. Room was spacious. Hot complimentary breakfast was better than the standard selection. Overall, an excellent experience at a very fair price.

Just returned from a family wedding. Wonderful staff and breakfasts were delightful. The only drawback was the bathroom, it was very tight (as least in the section we were, don't know about the other rooms available in this hotel). Very little space to place toiletries and hair accessories. Also the lighting was poor. They need to install wall mounted magnifier mirrors with lighting, this would work to solve this minor problem.

We stayed here Nov 18-22, 2017 and were very pleased with the hotel. We had a small puppy with us and they were very accommodating when we made the reservation to get us a pet-friendly room at the end of the hall away from people we might disturb. The only challenge of this hotel can be the parking, but if you talk to the front desk they will direct to an area behind the property as well as a parking garage next door which is free to park in. The check in process was wonderful and after traveling for two days to get there they made the process easy and simple. The breakfast each day is ok, very typical of what you'd expect from almost every facility that has a breakfast. A comfy bed really made our nights so much better, and I;'m grateful for that. Thank you for your hospitality.

This Best Western Plus was amazing from the moment you walk in the front door and are staring at a casino hotel style chandelier! The hotel has a complete breakfast, not simply a waffle maker, great coffee on demand 24 hours a day, beautiful dining lounge complete with fireplace. The rooms are good size, modern style, plenty of outlets and USB ports, Wi-Fi worked excellent. They went all out on the soap and shampoo and conditioner they leave for your convenience. The room itself was very modern, overlooking the scenic Hudson River.. The room had barn door type sliding bathroom door as well as thick glass barn door sliding shower door entering into a shower stall that is was wide as a bathtub would be. The staff was more than friendly and helpful about the area, the cleaning staff were quick with a smiling 'good morning' if we passed them in the hallway. To say they did a great job would be a under statement!

We used the Franklin Best Western for accomodations for our son's wedding. The Bridal suite was perfect for pre wedding hair and makeup. We used their small banquet room for the wedding rehearsal and breakfast the following morning with friends and family. It was super convenient to the wedding venue across the street at Franklin Plaza and also to the rehearsal dinner at Dinosaur BBQ. Perfect!

This is not the Best Western I grew up with. This is a cool, trendy hotel with great value - I am not a millennial and still appreciated the vibe; great breakfast and walk-in shower. Changed the way I perceived Best Western.

Stayed 2 nights and had no problems whatsoever. Nice hotel with a great location. Located in downtown Troy and close to many restaurants. Did a day trip to Bennington, VT and it was only a 40 minute drive. Our room was updated and really clean! Hotel staff was great and went out of their way to help us. Morning breakfast was standard buffet type, clean, plenty of selections. Will definitely stay again.

Great location for anything in Troy. It is centrally located so you can walk to nearby shops, bars, restaurants and entertainment. The hotel and the rooms are clean. The staff is very accommodating. The breakfast buffet left a little to be desired.

Nice hotel, great location for events at the Franklin Plaza. Clean, met all of our needs. Rooms were very small, we stayed in a double it had 2 queen beds, bathroom also very small, odd configuration of the room, who ever designed the rooms, you were unable to open the closet door all the way, made it very difficult to get into, we were there with a group, and everyone complained about the Same thing. Nice breakfast was included. Overall,it served its purpose, we would stay there again

We had a beautiful wedding at Franklin Plaza (located nearby). Having a nice place for the families to sleep and socialize was great! The Best Western staff was extremely accommodating and the accommodation were very new. The breakfast was nice.

The Best Western Plus Franklin Inn and Suites hosted our wedding guests, wedding party, and my husband and I a year ago when we were married at the Franklin Plaza. Since we are expecting our first child in December and didn't want to travel too far from home, staying at the Best Western for our 1st anniversary was a no brainer. The recent renovations and addition of the new wing to the hotel have made this hotel the premier location for accommodations in Troy, and the Capital Region in my opinion. My husband and I stayed in the new 2nd floor suite overlooking the river and were blown away by the luxury accommodation in the middle of downtown Troy. We live in Troy, I work in Troy, and we frequent the Farmers Market each week. It's been so wonderful seeing the revitalization of the city itself, but now the Best Western offers an incredible value as icing on the cake. Everything from the wraparound balcony, large kitchen island, double gas fireplace, and the massive bathroom with soaking tub and enormous shower, to the beautiful touches like the chandelier, TV in the bathroom mirror, and the absolutely stunning black and white photos of Troy by Michael Gallitelli that decorate the property truly gave us a wonderful little getaway to celebrate. In addition to the accommodations, the staff at the Best Western is second to none. Everyone is helpful, pleasant, and professional. We can't wait to go back!

The location is perfect for RPI visitors. The staff at check in is efficient and welcoming. All staff at hotel is friendly and helpful. Breakfast is included with something for everyone. Tea and coffee are available all day. Clean fitness center.

We stayed at the Best Western Plus Franklin Square Inn in Troy, NY over the weekend to attend our God son's wedding. Upon check in our room smelled of wet dog. We went down to the lobby to ask for a different room which the attendant provided without hesitation. It is nice to have dog friendly hotels but there should be separate rooms for guests and their dogs and rooms for guests without or a way to get the wet dog odor out of the room before it is occupied by another guest.

The room itself was lovely and it has great proximity to RPI and the downtown. However, the HVAC system started to make a chugging noise around 4 am, so I got very little sleep. We called the front desk but they were unable to offer a solution. The next morning (at 11 am, check out), the manager was not on duty. I think the staff should have offered some sort of comp, especially given the price (over $200/night).

Great place. The staff was friendly and professional. The breakfast was of very good quality. Of course the in-room coffee was undrinkable (laugh out loud) but that's expected these days. Also the location was very convenient and the surrounding area was lovely.

I don't usually stay in Best Westerns. I went for a college visit and booked this hotel for its proximity to RPI. What a pleasant surprise! The hotel was much nicer than I ever expected!. The lobby is big, nicely staffed and clean. The room was a good size, didn't smell, comfortable bed, clean sheets, nice bathroom, towels and nice soap, shampoo and conditioner. Best of all was the breakfast! Usually the breakfast that is included with a hotel stay is not so great. Again-- I was pleasantly surprised! Nice selection of food--- 2 types of eggs, make you own waffles with fresh batter, breads, muffins, oatmeal, fruit, juices, coffees, teas, etc. It was great! The only slight negative was figuring out how to get into the parking lot once we arrived. The streets surrounding it are one ways with weird angles. But, once you figure it out it is fine. I don't hold that against the hotel as they have nothing to do with the public roadways. Best Western is now on my list of hotels that I would not hesitate to stay in!

Stayed here for two nights in late September while visiting family. Superb property. Everything is top notch. BW loyalty program made it better for the accumulated points. Centrally located; lots of nearby attractions. Check out the barbecue joint across the street. You will not be disappointed when you stay here.

Newly renovated, this is a great hotel in walking distance to the restaurants and shops in Troy, a small city with fantastic architecture and a Brooklyn vibe. Very capable and pleasant staff, exceptionally clean and well kept rooms.

This was our first stay in Troy, NY and were delighted with our experience - we were cared for so well and found the location ideal for shopping and sightseeing. Will definitely stay here again. We love the Loyalty program.

The first room we were given reeked. The second room was marginally less stinky. Sort of a wet dog smell. (Which makes me wonder because they DO allow dogs to stay in rooms, and they don't limit dogs to just a couple of rooms.) The AC was very loud, and about every 20 minutes it belched even louder. So guess who got a lousy night's sleep?

If your in the area or maybe you might want to make this a destination location, you have to try the Franklin Square Inn Best Western. Everything was exceptional and the location can't be beat. You would never regret the decision. The entire staff takes that extra step in making your stay a memorable one.

Staying at the Franklin Square is the best way to experience Troy. Nice new wing, excellent staff service and superb location. The river walk along the adjacent Hudson River is great but the area could use more fine dining areas.

Ivan was absolutely wonderful to us and when he was not at the desk Damon was most helpful. The location , right on the Hudson, and within walking distance to the shopping area made the whole experience a true delight. We will stay at this location again in a heartbeat.

Rooms are clean, well kept, comfortable, staff is friendly and efficient, breakfast is average but hotel features the best coffee in town. Hotel seems to be always figuring out a way to make your stay better. I highly recommend this as one if not The best stay in Troy.

Although only one night, my stay in Troy was excellent. The entire staff was most courteous and helpful in explaining all the amenities during our stay. Sandra in Housekeeping was very pleasant and eager to see if we needed anything.

Stayed here while visiting a career fair at RPI. Chose this hotel over the Hilton Garden Inn due to its proximity to downtown Troy. I was pleasantly surprised. Stayed in the new wing of the hotel. Very clean, fresh and modern. Large room with a king bed. Nice bathroom. Only minor complaint is that the very nice shower had no shelving. As a result, you had to put toiletries on the floor. Very odd. Breakfast was free and pretty standard, but very well organized and easy to put together. Nice seating area. Parking was tight due to the location. Traffic flow is a little confusing; just go slow and you'll be fine. Highlight of my one-night stay was downtown Troy. The city has improved so much since I was a student at RPI. Lots of cool places to check out including Rare Form - a great brewery - and Troy Kitchens. I hope to be back.

This was a great location for the hotel. Near some bars and restaurants. Staff was friendly and attentive. The rooms were good size and the bed comfortable! Loved the options for breakfast and it was filling. If I'm in the area again I'd stay here. Price is what you would expect not cheap but also not expensive.

Visiting RPI with DD on crutches, hotel staff was very attentive. Room clean and breakfast was good. Loved the coffee machine that was available all day. Would recommend and return. Staff was professional also.

I stayed at the Best Western in Troy for a wedding. My friends and I were skeptical and weren't sure what to expect since many places in the region are quite dated. Therefore, when we called to reserve our room, we immediately decided to book one of the newly renovated rooms when asked by the receptionist. The room was beautiful and spacious. One of the nicest rooms I've stayed in for the price. We were all very impressed with the quality and decor of the hotel and the room. I wouldn't hesitate to stay again and I'm very picky!

Great location for RPI. Staff is always to professional, knowledgeable and willing to help out with whatever is needed (with a smile). Upgrading the decor and amenities is great to see. Love it. This hotel is my favorite in the area.

The employees were all happy and friendly. Coming from a service industry, I noticed that immediately. Damon and Ivan were wonderful at the front desk. They obviously enjoyed helping their guests. We also had a nice conversation with Javun (sp?) about cars. The entrance chandelier is fabulous. It should be viewed at night for fullest beauty. I could not believe I was at a Best Western. The suites are gorgeous. As a wedding destination, this hotel is a MUST. No details have been overlooked. We were only passing through, but we will stay here whenever possible!

We had an airbnb for 4 nights in Troy. We we arrived, it was unacceptable so we needed a place to stay. We called the BW as we are rewards members and were told by Sarah "just come on over and we will take care of you". Our room was marvelous. Leslie was so sympathetic and reassured us we were in a safe area and a friendly downtown with a lot to do and good restaurants. She calmed me. The breakfast and especially the coffee machines were outstanding! We will stay there again if ever back in Troy.

Stayed one night only; room and bathroom were clean. Good price. Offsite parking, a block away. Room smaller than expected but was fine. Large frig in room was nice to have. Breakfast buffet was typical and good. Would stay here again if back to visit RPI which was only 5 minutes from hotel.

The new rooms and new space make the place look great! Everything is close by - restaurants, shops, bars, RPI and farmer's market. Nice and clean.Very helpful staff. Breakfast was top notch. Will return.

The hotel is undergoing a renovation. We had a brand new room. The decor was excellent. The room was beautiful . The staff was very nice and helpful. There is plenty of parking in the parking garage next door. I was worried about parking as the hotel in heart of troy.

Was a wonderful hotel to stay at right in the heart of the city of Troy NY. Walking distance to many activities. Parked our car for the weekend and never had to worry about driving. Great restaurants and bars are in walking distance to enjoy.

Beautiful lobby, good breakfast, but horrible sleep comfort! The fitted sheets don't fit the queen beds and keep coming off, exposing the slippery plastic mattress protectors underneath. These mattress protectors crinkled and made us sweat. We got a horrible nights sleep as a result. Not worth the money.

Located in the middle of everything. You can park your car, leave it, and walk to most places. Also across the street from the dinosaur bbq. Rooms are clean, TV's are HD, internet is fast. Also, complimentary breakfast was probably the best hotel breakfast I've ever had. Parking when checking in is a little confusing with people going the wrong way through 1 way, etc. Hard to find a spot, I'd recommend just pulling up right next to the front door. Once you get in the staff will explain parking in detail, which was nice.

The outside was very clean and attractive. Located in a good section of Troy and close to an excellent farmer's market and restaurants. Room was very clean, and the bathroom was spotless. We have stayed at this location for several years on our way home from vacationing in Vermont. The full breakfast is the main item that brings us back each year. Plus, the staff are always super friendly.

Very nice, recently updated and easy walk to downtown Troy. Fresh cookies were available in the lobby. The beds were comfortable and the front desk staff very pleasant. I had not stayed in a Best Western in years and had not expected it to be so nice.

the hotel was nice with the exception that a lot of construction was going on when we arrived. The breakfast was nice. There were many options to choose from. I like that coffee and juice were available at anytime and also cookies were put out. Lobby was nice, spacious and comfortable seating.

We stayed here after a day at Saratoga. If no parking; park in the garage next door for free. Eat next door at Dinosaur BBQ. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good. Coffee and cookies at night. No traffic to get here. All good. Friendly staff is always a plus. Stay at this one.

This hotel has recently (end of last year) been extended and being renovated. We stayed last November when the works were being carried out and now the new rooms are large and excellent. Good decor - very clean - Comfortable beds- and an excellent walk in shower. Good adequate buffet breakfast is provided all staff are very friendly and courteous.

The hotel was situated strategically close to many of the local attractions and that allowed us to walk to some of our destinations. Room was clean & quiet. Room temp just right. Disappointed about the lack of handicap pkg spaces and no tub in bathroom but very nicely appointed shower.

Had a reduced rate for wedding but found to be very expensive for what is available. Early check in was not honored & was inconvenient to get ready for wedding which was purpose of hotel room/stay. Was a lot of general noise from guests but hotel is nicely renovated for the most part.

Here overnight for a friend's son's wedding. Staff is generally nice and helpful, but we were given a room in still unrenovated wing on second floor...room odor on entering was awful. Called for air freshener, and there was no sense of surprise by very pleasant manager. Pretty bad if they are okay with guests having to request air freshener! But she offered another room on third floor...also unrenovated. Still had odor, but less, so we moved. But on return to room after wedding this evening, the room reeks of stale, maybe moldy odor. Went to desk, got air freshener. Totally unreasonable for otherwise okay hotel. So is the stained ( hopefully after cleaning) bed blanket. No way rooms with such odor should be rented. Extremely disappointed.

This a great place to stay! I came for a student orientation day for RPI and was pleasantly surprised with the Best Western. I had a small problem with the room and they quickly moved me to another room. Ivan could not have been more helpful after a long day of traveling. The hotel is located close to RPI. I can not wait to return to Troy to visit all the little restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. Nice breakfast in the morning. Every staff person at the hotel went out of their way to help!

Great location for a revitalizing Troy, New York. Hotel personnel were professional, courteous, kind, accommodating, and would go above and beyond to support my wedding party and guests. I stayed in the suites which were newly renovated, clean, and spacious! I saw my wedding guests' rooms which were standard. The bed was gloriously comfortable; the bathrooms were clean and there was plenty of space for guests and groomsmen to hang out and get ready. Hotel cleaners were also friendly. There was still a little bit of construction on the exterior and interior but it wasn't a hindrance to our stay. There is plenty of free parking on the exterior if you can't get a parking spot within the premises. Troy is experiencing some revitalization so there are a lot of cool spots and restaurants in the area like Troy Kitchen, Dinosaur BBQ, Brown's Brewery, Bootleggers, Whistle and Kettle. The Hotel is also conveniently located because it's almost riverfront where there a lot of events like, Rocking on the River, concerts, Pig Out (BBQ and food truck), and a large farmer's market. On site, breakfast was delicious, accessible and complimentary - this was great for our wedding party because there is a nice seating area and plenty of food to go around! We wouldn't change a thing if we had to do this all over again.

Spent one night on our way to Connecticut. Very nice property on the inside and outside. Only issue was no hairdryer that I could find. Great room, very clean. Restaurants within walking distance. Easy access. While there are quite a few vacant properties in town, the hotel looks fairly new.

Good hotel accomodation. Good service and especially excellent breakfast. The bed mattress was not as firm as it should be. It sank in when you sit or sleep on it. The stafff was very friendly and everything else was very good.

We arrived late, and the front desk clerk was welcoming. She helped us locate a restaurant for a late night dinner. Our room was completely fresh and new. The bathroom was lovely! An excellent value, and a feather in BW cap!

I rarely rate five stars, but this property is excellent in every way. I stayed here twice in the past week travelling to visit family, and found it clean, comfortable, both in public areas and the room, with friendly, helpful, and welcoming staff. A bit difficult to find/access by car due to one-way streets, but close to expressways. Good security and plenty of parking. Many nearby choices for dining.

The newer section of the hotel has excellent rooms very clean and modern. I have not stayed in the older section. So cannot comment on that. Breakfast was awesome everything was fresh and tasty. Will definitely return to this hotel when I'm in Troy.

On the Hudson River across from the River Park, free park entertainment, and nice restaurant on the river with a view of passing boats. A fun experience for a one night stay. Friendly, helpful staff and clean room.

I have stayed at this hotel many times over the last 5 years. The staff is always professional and courteous. The breakfast is excellent. The new expansion brought this hotel up an entire level. Nice job! The artwork, the color selection, and the design are spot on.

We had a very pleasant stay while celebrating a family wedding. The rooms were clean and the beds were average in comfort . The breakfast was average . Fresh fruit ran out early. The area was clean and the service very good. Very helpful friendly staff!

We checked in at 1am. The lobby is nice and clean. But parking at that time of morning was a bear and I was nervous as I didn't know the area. It felt fairly safe but one can never be sure. Our room had two queens and we slept very hard. The beds were nice and the breakfast was quite good. I would very much return!

Stayed at hotel for a wedding in Troy (down the street). Staff were exceedingly helpful and pleasant. Would highly recommend the property to anyone staying in the area. Parking was a bit of an issue as I am handicapped, but mostly due to current construction at the property.

Room was very nice - lots of granite & marble. The neighborhood has improved a lot since I went to school in Troy. The Dinosaur BBQ had loud music, but we couldn't hear it inside the hotel. The door near handicapped parkung is locked after 10pm & you have to walk around the building to get in. Breakfast was fine, other than the instant coffee machine.

Great staff, very accommodating and housekeeping keeps the rooms spotless and clean. Just a great experience and the employees do what they say they will and that is refreshing. It is also very close (walking distance) to some good venues for entertainment, food, adult beverages and socializing.

The family who chose the Best Western in Troy and the facility across the street, for their daughter's wedding made an exquisite decision. Accommodations were clean, up to date & the reception was just as perfect at the Franklin Square Center. Thank you for creating such a lovely venue in the Albany locale.

The Franklin Square Best Western has been nicely renovated, although they are still working on certain areas. The staff is friendly and pleasant. The breakfast tablecloths should be cleaned more often. Breakfast offerings are fairly average, and could have been hotter. Coffee was good. The only real problem is that the parking lot around the motel is not large enough and although parking is available in a garage and a lot across the street, that is not convenient for guests.

The hotel was amazing from the reservation booking through the check-in and check-out. The breakfast was exceptional and the entire hotel was so very clean. The personnel were polite and helpful. The area was convenient to shops and restaurants with a nice park on the river.

Best Western Hotels are an excellent 'mid-range' hotel chain that can be found in many places across the world. I was in Troy for speaking engagement and chose Best Western because I have stayed with them before and because of the location near the Hudson river and not far from downtown. My room had a desk, fridge, TV and coffee maker. I noticed that the TV remote had been cleaned and placed in the special bag. This hotel is quite new and very clean. The staff were great and the facilities included a full cooked breakfast, fitness and business centre but no bar or restaurant. That was not a problem as the were several pubs and restaurants within easy walking distance.

Even though renovations were in progress, it did not deter the excellent experience we had at this hotel! Everyone went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable! The location is perfect for visiting the wonderful shops and restaurants in town, as well as for Saturday morning visits to the BEST FARMERS' MARKET!!

Clean, fresh entrance with great rooms. Offered a perfect balance of value and cost. German bar 1/2 block away for a quick drink and a great BBQ restaurant across the street. Convenience all the way with very helpful staff!

Very clean, contemporary rooms, excellent staff especially housekeeping, good location, good breakfast. The only complaint I have is that the parking lot is very small and tight for the size of the hotel, however there is free parking at the garage across the street but there are no signs posted telling you so. You have to go inside and check in to find out which can be messy b/c there is so little parking in the lot or on the street.

When I made the original reservations for the wedding party family members, I was told a given room wasn't available, but when I called and talked to a manager, the rooms were in fact already saved, and the reservations went off without a hitch. Everything was perfect. With 5 adults and two children in three consecutive rooms, we were able to group and separate at will. We were within walking distance of all the wedding day activities, food sites, and jogging along the river. So convenient!!

Stayed overnight with husband. Our room had pictures from the wall missing. Bed was worn and sunk in. Carpeting old. Room needs updating. It was also very noisy(hear traffic outside and people talking outside rooms. We paid 199.00 for this 2 maybe 3 star room( we checked with 4-5 star hotels all Full do we had to take this room!) the breakfast the next morning was enjoyable. Clean areas with a nice variety of foods. Don't know if I would stay again.

Stayed here one night while we visited RPI. After checking in, we went to our room. Nothing fancy. We immediately could hear the people in the next room talking. It was as if they were IN our room. The walls between the rooms were SO thin that we could clearly hear every word they said, and they were talking in normal voices. When we heard the lady in the next room pass gas (loudly) then say to her companion "oh, excuse me, you don't want to come over here" we were a bit unsure if we wanted to stay, but we heard a small child's voice, so we figured they would be in bed early. Boy were we wrong. From 3:30AM on-wards, we could clearly hear EVERY word they said all night. Called the front desk but there was little to no sleep that night. The next morning at checkout, we told the front desk, but this could NOT have been the first complaint. It was a horrible night. Won't stay here again.

We stayed two nights at the Best Western Franklin Square Inn this past weekend during a visit with our daughter, son-in-law and new grandson. The check in process was simple. The staff allowed us late check out. The breakfast exceeded our expectations. The eggs, the two types of potatoes, two different breakfast meats, waffles, oatmeal, pastries, bagels, hot drinks, cold juice, hard boiled eggs, yogurt...and more! My husband loved the mango infused water at breakfast. I am on a strict diet and took advantage of the citrus infused water in the lobby. Being able to fill my water bottle with cold delicious water helped keep me on track while on the road. The soap and shampoos smelled wonderful. The hotel is under construction, so carpets don't match and there are dumpsters of construction trash. Once the remodel is complete, the place will be back to a perfect 10. There is also very limited parking for the number of rooms they have. I'm sure the hotel has never been full during our stays, otherwise we will never find a spot. There are probably only 20-25 parking spots for the whole hotel. I rated it four out of five because of the construction, lack of parking and issue we had logging onto the internet. Our iPads connected, but our phones did not. We have stayed here 10 or so times in the past five years. We will always stay at the Franklin Square Inn when visiting our daughter!

My overall opinion is that our was just okay. Our room air conditioner was extremely loud. We could hear our next door neighbor snoring all night long which was quite irritating. The breakfast was decent. The parking was limited our car was hit some time during the night big dentin rear bumper. The room was clean. I accidentally booked a 1 bed room and asked to change it to 2 beds and was told they didn't have any rooms left but there were plenty of them listed on the Web sight when I booked it not 30 minutes earlier. Guess the clerk didn't want to be bothered. I am a loyal customer and book Bestwestern when ever possible so I was really surprised they would not change my room but what ever. It was probably my worst Bestwestern experience ever.

Absolutely beautiful. Fantastic staff. Wonderful breakfast. Suite was superior. Will stay again. Highest recommendation. If you are in Troy, New York or in Albany I would highly recommend to you for business, weddings or pleasure.

I was born in Troy New York. We visit relatives. The BW on Franklin Square is wonderful. The hotel has been up dated.It was quiet even with two weddings on site. The location is terrific, you can walk all over downtown. . Love the view of the Hudson River. I would highly recommend the Best Western on Franklin Square in Troy New York.

This place is nice! They are remodeling and making this a classier place. The breakfast is excellent with many choices. The waffles are tasty. Most places I have stayed at run out of everything but they had a good amount.

The BW in Troy is great because it is conveniently located and has a flare and opulence in terms of design. The rooms are alway excellent for the price point. The Breakfast is good and has a variety of hot and cold food. You can get Tea and coffee anytime. I used the fitness center which is always empty and private. The staff is awesome, and they totally take of my crazy schedule.

This was a very nice hotel that had a central location in Troy. We enjoyed a quiet, pleasant stay. The room was clean, with all that was needed. My husband particularly liked the breakfast buffet. I would definitely recommend it.

Nice property, clean and comfortable. We don't usually stay at Best Westerns so were pleasantly surprised as the facility was very nice. People were friendly, and helpful. Breakfast was good, with a good amount of choices. This is a perfect location if your visiting RPI.

I like to stay here the town is good they have good stuff house keeping breakfast is good a lot more to see downtown I see thair added on more rooms this is great I can't think of nothing more just you will have a great time and a great stay.

We chose this hotel because of its close proximity to the Troy Music Hall. It turned out to be a very good choice. Besides the convenience of it being walking distance, with many restaurant choices on the way,the hotel itself was very nice. The room was clean and a nice comfortable size. The staff was pleasant and helpful. I requested a room close to elevator and a low floor and was accommodated. A free buffet breakfast, hot and cold, is included with the cost of the room. The breakfast was really very good. It was clean and well stocked. There was always someone there replenishing and cleaning and helping with special requests. We will definitely stay here if we find ourselves inTroy again.

We stayed here on a slow Monday night in November, hoping for a good night's rest. Between the construction (power tools and metal banging began at 7:15 AM), dog barking in the hallway outside our room at 2:30 AM, and very loud neighbors, it was a rough night. Being on the second floor above the breakfast room, the sounds of cooking and pots banging was heard starting around 6 or 6:30 AM. However, the staff was very friendly and tried to help quiet the loud people. The hot and full breakfast buffet was very fancy and delicious. Mini fridge in the room, no microwave.

Nice lobby. Clean rooms, Pet friendly. Walking distance to several great restaurants and brew pubs. Great complimentary hot breakfast. Staff is attentive, courteous and friendly. I know they have a fitness room but was not able to look in on it or avail myself.

Stayed at this hotel for my nephew's wedding. The service was excellent. The rooms lovely and the lobby had a wonderful fireplace and large screen TV. Breakfast was beyond basic. I would highly recommend staying here is you need a place in this area.

Stopped off to break our journey back to Canada. Great location for nearby bars and restaurants and the river. Breakfast was superb - one of the best free breakfasts I've had.Hotel decor was nice and it will be great once the construction of the new rooms is finished. We would definitely book here again.

The service at this hotel was exceptional. We booked this hotel for my daughter's wedding and blocked rooms for two nights. The staff couldn't be more welcoming from check in to check out. The rooms were clean. The lobby was spacious and welcoming. The breakfast was included and plentiful with varied selections which were very good.

The entire area this hotel is located in is undergoing renovation, and it appears this hotel will be adding a lovely addition. However, that makes staying there now a little less than ideal. They are dealing with the renovation as best they can. The staff was very nice, the rooms were fine though the view is of construction, not the river; and the breakfast was the best I have had of hotel free breakfast offerings. My major concern, however, was the parking. We arrived later in the evening and were told to park in the old multilevel garage next door and walk back to the hotel. The garage was empty and not very secure feeling. If I had been alone, I would certainly have been uncomfortable walking through the empty levels, out onto the dark street and over to the hotel.

This is the first hotel that I've ever been in (and I'm well over 60) that felt like I was staying in someone's home. By that, I mean that the hospitality and concern for their guests in this particular Best Western was over and above any normally shown by a chain hotel. The owner/staff make you feel like you are staying with them at THEIR hotel not just at "A Best Western"! I hope that makes sense. They are doing this chain proud!!! Our room was a suite and was simply gorgeous. So very clean! There were fresh cookies and flavored waters when you came in the front door of the hotel. The morning buffet was top-notch, lots of choices and you could even get a cup of cereal, juice and specialty coffee drinks late at night. It is directly across the street from a great bbq restaurant and within walking distance of shops, many other restaurants and lots of great architecture! My son just moved to Troy so we will be back to visit in the future and there is not even a chance that we would be staying anywhere else. They won us as customers for as long as they are around. Thank you to everyone there for making our stay so pleasant.

Round& round you go trying to find This place in "one way Troy". Then good luck trying to park in this under construction hotel! Staff nice. Security poor because side entrance is not visible from desk and is open access til 10pm.Rooms small but Clean. Nice touch lobby cookies and ice water& coffee self brewer.

Hotel was okay for an inner city hotel. Room was clean and everything was operational, and staff was helpful. The breakfast was not that good, and there was no attendant in the breakfast room. There is a significant lack of safe parking around the hotel. I guess you could say that the value was okay for a downtown hotel in an older, historic citty.

Because we had spotty cell coverage, I used my AAA book, and the only hotel that showed up was the Best Western. We booked over the phone. The only complaints I had, the TV did not work properly, and the fridge ticked all night. We were too tired to call down, so I slept with a pillow over my head. My husband also had to go down for towels etc. Convenient restaurant next door.

My son and his now wife had their wedding at Franklin Plaza which is right across the street from this hotel. I believe they are both owned by same group and the service by EVERYONE associated with both locations could not have been better. They were very attentive to bridal party since everyone got ready in their suites at the hotel. Comfortable beds, great breakfast, couldn't ask for more!

The motel is attractively furnished in a nice downtown area. There is an extensive breakfast buffet, but the room was cold. Water was dropping from a ceiling vent in the dining area--probably from condensation. Construction made parking a bit of a challenge. My car almost was blocked in by a car that parked along the driveway where it should not have been. This was a good jumping off place for heading to Vermont.

We made sure to have our wedding room block at the Best Western! It is such a beautiful hotel and within walking distance to all that Downtown Troy has to offer. Along with beautiful river views! We got married at Takk House just a few blocks away and our guests were able to walk to and from our wedding :)

Great value. Clean rooms. Good breakfast. Beds are comfortable. We have stayed here several times and always are comfortable. Bonus: they allow pets. Nice central location in Troy close to the river. Restaurants close by.

This hotel is trying to be a business class place. The room was nicely appointed and clean. Excellent bed sheets and a comfortable bed. The room had a weird smell to it when I entered, but I opened the window to air out the room and it was fine. Hotel staff was very helpful The breakfast is good. Room was relatively quiet considering there is a bus stop across the street. The BBQ restaurant across the street is also very good. Free parking, good WIFI, and breakfast included. Would stay there again.

Really good location. Great spot across the street at the Dinosaur Rib House. We attended baseball games at Joseph Bruno stadium. $1.50 bus ride to the games and $7.50 cab ride back to the hotel worked like a charm.

This hotel was in a very good location right in downtown Troy. A restaurant and park are right across the street, other restaurants within walking distance. The hotel is fairly basic, but clean and adequate. I would stay here again. The hotel is currently under construction in the back, but this did not affect us at all (we visited Friday night to Sat).

This hotel was very clean. We stayed in a king room. Nice accommodations, but it was small. Hard to get around a huge desk chair and bed. But all in all very nicely decorated and clean! It was very close in walking distance to a couple restaurants and bars which had very good food.

This is a very good hotel. While not as opulent as some it has great character and is well managed and maintained. It is always a pleasure to stay at the Best Western Franklin Square and is also quite convenient for me as my son is a doctoral candidate at RPI and lives about .25 miles from the hotel.

I've been to many Best Westerns and this was one of the better ones, We received very good service during our stay and our room was comfortable with good amenities. The parking is free and of course the breakfast is free which was of a very high standard so well worth a stay if in Troy...

The Best Western at Franklin square in downtown Troy, NY is clean, comfortable and easy to get to. The location is easy walking distance to many interesting luncheon and dining establishments. The Hudson River with the Troy City Park for concerts, festivals and other interesting events is just across the street. CDTA bus transportation is available with a short walk. A major farmers market is nearby every Saturday morning featuring music and food vendors along with all the fresh farm offerings. A grate book store and library are a short walk as well. Entertainment on a large scale is, again, a short walk.

AC/heating system bangs on & off all night. No setting that will keep it on constantly (even the constant setting won't keep it on). We didn't know our neighbors but could hear all their conversations, snoring, etc...... Remote barely worked, internet connection was terrible, smell in bedding was repulsive, yuk, yuk yuk

We always have difficulty finding a dog-friendly hotel in a mid-price range. The Best Western in Troy was perfect for us, and included breakfast and internet. Nice clean room, friendly staff, and a great BBQ place next door. I would highly recommend this hotel, and I have spent the last 9 years traveling for business. I have stayed in other Best Westerns, but this was by far the best one.

Way too small of a room with not nearly enough amenities for way too much money. Other local hotels have much nicer rooms for less. The location is not much more favorable. Not worth the price at all.

Friendly Staff at the check in and check out. Good internet - the best breakfast I head on my 5 weeks America trip, the had great wraps there also. Room was a bit small but ok. On the other side of the hotel is a nice BBQ place.

The location of the hotel is great, the place is clean and attractive but the mattresses need to be replaced (too old, not firm enough). This could be a very good hotel if the quality of the beds was upgraded

We were starting out on a family road trip through the National Scenic Byway entitled, "Lakes to Locks Scenic Byway.". It starts at Troy, and goes north, along the eastern edge of New York State, tracing the initial parts of the Erie Canal, the old and new sections of the Champlain Canal, then moving up to Lake George and Lake Champlain. By staying in this lovely facility in Troy, we discovered ourselves in the midst of Troy's lovely, active, and artsy down town. Lots of wonderful restaurants to discover nearby. This hotel let us discover how delightful Troy is as a destination.

Very friendly front desk staff. Even had a much-needed lint brush. The rooms were clean and had everything we needed. Great location - walking distance to the wedding we went to and best of all, the Dinosaur BBQ is right across the street! Definitely would stay here again.

This hotel is near the amazing Hudson River and friendly pubs. Great shopping and historic brownstones less than a block away. The room was exceptional and the breakfast bar was the best I've seen! In fact, the roaring fireplace made my early morning coffee just perfect! Thank you for a great visit!

Clean and staff is helpful. Normaly stay at HGI up the street but this place is fine and across the street from some good places to eat. In an active area of Troy so it is a little loud. It near the river. Nice walking area.Breakfast included with room.

We had this hotel booked for a out of town wedding . The hotel was booked by most friends and family of the bride and groom. The whole experience at the hotel was great. Professional all the way, very clean and very helpful and accommodating to our needs

The hotel was in a good location, convenient to walk to a restaurant and to drive to RPI. The room was clean and comfortable, and the staff was friendly. The breakfast each morning was also fine. A perfectly fine stay at a reasonable price.

Best Western Hotels are very reliable. Ive stayed at three different BW recently. The rooms were always neat, clean and tidy. The beds were cozy and plush. The fantastic free breakfast make it all worth it. I didn't need fancy. I just needed a clean, cozy place to rest my head and BW is just that place.

The front-desk staff was extremely helpful and gracious. Our room was ready--clean and set when we checked in. The front-desk staff provided information on area restaurants, transportation and local attractions. The room was very quiet and the beds comfortable. Overall this hotel was an provided excellent value for the price. The one drawback was that it did not have a courtesy shuttle.

Just stayed one night with my daughter in a room with two queen beds. Very pleasant décor, comfortable room, and the lobby staff were very helpful in finding us a place for dinner that night. Breakfast was much more extensive than I had anticipated.

Got married across the street at Franklin Plaza and had a great stay at the hotel. Everything was clean and orderly. The Shower in the suite was spectacular. I was very impressed with the size of the suite as well. Breakfast was good and the lobby had a nice sitting area/ eating area. Very close to some local bars that my guests had a great time visiting.

Stayed one night for business. Very nice, kind of historic hotel. My room had the view of the roof and I the walls are very thin (can hear every time the bathroom was used in the next room and the slamming of the doors). They got me at breakfast with different scrambled eggs (with cheese and peppers) to choose from and the many choices for coffee and juices.

This place reeked of smoke in the elevator and hallways. Room carpeting was dirty looking and toilet kept running after flushing. Also my coffee maker leaked water all over the counter top. The first night a large group arrived and 4 p.m. and created a big disturbance. Near as I could tell, the night staff did nothing to quiet things done. The breakfast was fine and the staff were very helpful. Overall, due to the condition of the place, I rate it as poor to fair. Downtown Troy needs another hotel to pick from.

A large group guests arrived at 4 a.m. and disturbed the sleep of other guests for about an hour. Hotel staff did not respond. The halls and elevator have a noticeable smoke oder that is off-putting. The staff were very helpful and nice (except for not intervening in the incident above) but overall, the physical condition of this property is fair at best. The coffee maker in my room leaked coffee into the wooden tray and the bathroom toilet keep running after flushing. This hotel has a monopoly on downtown Troy and needs competition to force it to up its game.

We were very happy with the courteous staff and very well laid out breakfast facilities. Free cookies at check in and all night long! This is a new hotel right near the campus of RPI. A fantastic BBQ joint right across the street.

We stayed here in a king bed suite. The room was large and clean. King bed was comfy, room had flat screen TV, sofa sleeper, sitting area and huge jacuzzi tub and separate shower. Staff was all really friendly and accommodating. They have self serve breakfast in the lobby area in the morning with fruit, waffles, cereal, yogurt, juice and coffee. Convenient to Franklin Square for weddings and events.

Stayed here twice over the past year, both times to catch a live band at the Dinosaur BBQ restaurant, which is across the street from this hotel. Every employee here is as courteous and friendly as can be. The breakfast was a nice spread with lots of options (both healthy and not-so.) Great coffee/espresso machine too. We love this hotel!

Excellent location, environment, accommodations. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. A simple and quick walk to Franklin Plaza made it even more accommodating. Pleasant stay. And that's all I need to say, you should really change the requirements of this field.

Just stay here. Don't look elsewhere. Great service, great rooms in a great location at great tariff. As a sporting team Best Western Franklin Inn were the best choice to stay. They were hospitable and opened up there facilities to our team with pen arms.

We were in town to see Bruce Springsteen in Albany. Two out of the 4 of us needed to work before the concert and before checkout. The accomodations for the working were very good and for the two of us who needed to find something to do on a snowy morning there was a large and comfortable lobby to catch up on the news of the day. A very plesant stay with very plesant people working around us. Will definitely stay here again.

Bright, comfortable, friendly staff. Room was quiet (I asked for a quiet one) & clean, bed was comfortable. Would definitely stay here again if in Troy. Got in a little on the later side, so ordered room service from the restaurant next door - good price on the food and it was decent. I'm a runner so ran from this location through the RPI campus - close by and a great run (if you don't mind some steep hills).

Just steps from downtown, this Best Western Plus offers a great room at a great price. The staff are helpful and efficient. The hotel is easy to get to from the expressway and provides free onsite parking. Wireless internet and a hot breakfast are included.

Really nice location right on the river in downtown. Walked my dog in the park as the sun came up. This hotel was clean and fit the basic needs for an overnight stay. The continental breakfast was also full of options and not just the typical bagels and pastries. Rooms were a little smaller than I expected but overall we were able to rest and recuperate on our long trip.

We stayed at this hotel while attending a wedding in Troy. The hotel is right on the river, with a nice park across the street. There is also Dinosaur Bar-B-Que right next door, which is highly recommended. As far as location, this hotel had a great spot. The breakfast was also better than average. We stayed a few nights and each morning there was something different in the breakfast buffet, including a waffle maker in case you don't want eggs. Staff was friendly as well, which is always appreciated.

We stay at Best Western Hotels exclusively because we are rewards members and this is the most beautiful Best Western so far. The dining room/foyer was floor to ceiling windows which definitely elevated my breakfast experience. That and the fact that it was Christmas time and the foyer was decorated beautifully. The room I was in was smallish but very cute. Their free breakfast buffet was the best I've had from this chain as well. They served scrambled eggs plain or with peppers and steak mixed in. Very nice!

My trip to Albany was a few days after Christmas. I booked BW in Troy because the hotel looked nice with historic decorations and furniture. I booked a suite online and when I got to the hotel the room that was given to us was just your average room, not the historic-looking one shown online. I spoke to front desk and I showed them the screenshot that I had taken of the suite that I had booked. I was told very nicely to go into the assigned room and that the manager will look into this issue. As we got to the room I was called by the hotel manager, Josh (?) who apologized for the mistake and told us to move to another much bigger and nicer double-room on the top floor. Although the room that we were moved to was not the historic-looking room that I saw online, I was pleased with Josh's professionalism and his attempt to please his clients. The cleanliness of this hotel is very comparable to that of 5-star hotels. Thank you Josh and the team at BW Troy. We will be back. Eli

We had two separate nights at the B/W Troy and our stays were the "best of the best." Everything was perfect! Thanks so much for putting such a great hospitality team together. We'll be back again in the summer time when we can explore the area more.

We stayed for 1 night in the way from the Adirondack to Newark airport. Our room was with 2 queen beds and was quite small. There is nice restaurant very close to the hotel on the river front. Breakfast was nice with a lot of varieties.

We woke up in this hotel Thanksgiving morning to find that all means of exit were blocked by a race. We were trapped for almost two hours, finally getting out by moving a police barrier! As a consequence we missed much of Thanksgiving. Although the town had posted the roads that would be blocked off and the times, the hotel claimed no responsibility to let us know (had we known we could have moved our car a block away and been fine) because the town did not specifically call them and tell them personally. We complained to Best Western, which would not do anything to help us because the hotel's claim of no responsibility was the end of the story in their eyes. If you have a problem here you are on your own!

Spent single night here while making a college visit to Rensselaer Polytech. Staff was friendly and helpful and gave good suggestions on places to eat.. Location was convenient to the college. I recommend this place if visiting the University.

Excellent service, decent breakfast, traditional style room. Everything worked. Very convenient for walking to restaurants, shops, and Rennselaer campus. Staff arranged to return itmes we left in room by mail, without hestitation.

Facility is nice. But staff failed to properly deal with noisy, rude, loud partiers in the middle of the night. Disturbance continued for a length of time. What good is the nicest motel property if you cannot get a good night's sleep before doing business the next day?

After being at a conference for 8 hours and having to locate our hotel - we were greeted by a friendly, helpful check in clerk. She was informative re: places to eat, services provided and about the breakfast offered. She made a long day better.

I totally enjoyed my stay. The location (for attending an event at Russell Sage College or RPI couldn't be better...walking distance to both of those plus to the waterfront and the interesting shops and cafes in Troy. My room was spacious, quiet, and comfortable and it was a good value. But what truly made my visit outstanding was the caring and friendly attitude and helpfulness of the staff -- every staff person I encountered! I strongly recommend this place and will stay there again when I am in Troy.

I enjoy staying at this Best Western when in Troy for Russell Sage College events. It is a BW Plus so nicer than most BWs and the location is great! The staff is always friendly and efficient, nice rooms, and quiet. Minor complaints would be that the phone was unplugged and there was only decaf coffee in the room for the coffee maker. I was also disappointed that I could not receive a printed receipt there when I checked out as I had booked online. Breakfast was fair - typical hotel breakfast.

Excellent place to stay. I would highly recommend it. It was clean and the service was excellent. We had a family wedding to attend nor far from our home, but it was nice to just walk across the street after a fun evening.

My wife and i stayed here for the halloween cruise on the Hudson river. we were happy with the suite and the jet tub. The breakfast was great and provided for and the location was just perfect for the cruise. A little overpriced for where it was i thought.

This hotel is beautiful, from the outside appearance to the amazing staff. I was fortunate to be upgraded to one of the signature suites at this hotel, and I can honestly say that the room was breathtaking. From the oversize Jacuzzi tub to the amazing décor and King size canopy bed, everything combined to provide an extremely relaxing and wonderful stay. HIGHLY recommend this hotel!

We have been coming to this hotel for years and even though the name has changed the service level has always been top notch. This hotel is conveniently located near restaurants and clubs - Dinosaur BBQ, Browns Brewing, Bombers Burrito Bar to name a few - and just up the street from all of downtown Troy's shops and restaurants. The staff is professional and friendly (and was handing out Halloween Candy to trick or treaters as we checked in). The rooms are top rate - they were all updated in the past few years and yet no signs of wear. This is THE best Best Western we have ever stayed at. We always look forward to a return trip.

Franklin Plaza is the site of many social events. The Best Western is a perfect compliment for all the elegance you experience at Franklin Plaza. Staff were attentive, and efficient, even when checking in multiple guests at the same time

This is a really one of the best "Best Western Hotels" I've ever checked in. So classic so romantic and so clean. It is very remarkable hotel interms of the funuture in terms of the staff here in terms of the location. You are in the middle between Boston and NY. Facing Hudson River Free WiFi , Breakfast and parking What more i need. Im really enjoying with my family with young kid over here. Strongly tecommended to all.

Rooms are very spacious with comfortable beds and good amount of channels. Internet was there but was rather slow, not allowing for streaming. lobby could be cleaner and appears a little out-dated. Rooms were very clean. Great location with great bars and food locations close by. I would stay again.

Convenient to downtown Troy and RPI. Can walk to campus but uphill all the way. Location, parking, lobby and breakfast area rate high marks. Rooms smaller than I expected. Overlooks the Hudson with a park nearby. I will stay there again when in the area.

I highly recommend this hotel if you have a business trip or are visiting friends or family in the Troy, NY area. The hotel was clean, modern, and well maintained. The staff were all very attentive and professional. I enjoyed the breakfast selection and they always had water, coffee, and a different cookie out in the lobby each day to satisfy your sweet tooth. The internet connection and on demand TV were nice bonuses. The conference/wedding facilities across the street were beautiful. All-in-all, it was a wonderful experience.

last stop after 7 days of travel in New England, his hotel offered more than others we used. Nice welcoming lobby, great staff upon entry and departure. Very helpful in recommending restaurants for dinner. Breakfast choices were plentiful and were set up in a sensible way for busy breakfast times. Hotel is old so there are limitations but well maintained, clean. Only problem some outlets not working.

We spent a Saturday night at the hotel for a wedding, that was across the street. The staff very helpful. Our room clean, not one issue. Only wish they had a pool, or hot tub. Troy was nice that day, took a walk to the farmers market. Nice breakfast on Sunday morning. Great place.

This is a clean and well-appointed Inn. The staff were friendly; the room was clean and spacious. the beds were comfortable. The shutting/slamming doors other places on the floor could be felt when they were used. Complimentary good hot breakfast with good variety. It appears to be in a more seedy part of town, and there is a lot of construction and road construction going on.

I travel weekly for business and have stayed at a lot of hotels along the way. I have to say my stay at the Best Western Plus Franklin Square Inn Troy/Albany was perfect. Front Desk staff was very professional and well dressed. The grounds were immaculate and constantly maintained. Complimentary full breakfast was the best I ever had and seating/severing area was well thought out. Room was amazing. Clean, quiet. Décor was upscale. Internet speeds fast with no login issues. TV choices scaled over 100. Even the doors were quiet closing. Towels and toiletries upscale as well. I would have expected a stay here would have cost double what I paid. It would have been worth it. Location is close to everything downtown.

I have had many opportunities to stay at the Franklin Square Inn...with each time being very welcoming and comfortable. The rooms are on the small size, but cozy, comfortable, well appointed with windows that open, small refrigerators and nice beds. The exercise room has all you need...maybe not over the top...but perfect for me. Also there is a pair of amazing coffee machines for lattes, cappuchinos, American coffee and hot water (with nice range of tea bags) all day. This hotel is within walking distance of cute, sparkling Troy--so dinner and entertainment is a block away. I look forward to coming back again very very soon
