"Great Suite"

4
05/09/2018

We reserved a standard room for three nights, and due to construction in the standard rooms they upgraded us to a suite. Lucky us! Due to the construction, there were really very few people staying there, so we had the pool and hot tub almost to ourselves. The room was great, staff was friendly and helpful. The whole place was very quiet - back from the road far enough so no road noise. The only thing I could recommend improving would be the layout of the breakfast bar. There's an island in the middle of the buffet area, so people are crossing back and forth in a small space to get what they want. The could also use more space for tables for sitting to eat. Maybe in peak seasons more people take food back to their rooms? It would be challenging. As it was, with a small number of guests, we all managed.

The Ponderosa quickly became our preferred hotel in one of our favorite destinations! Beautiful Suites with jacuzzi tub and waterfall shower. Vaulted ceilings and fireplace with kitchenette. The grounds are well kept and the staff are friendly and helpful. What else do you need?

We first ended at The Ponderosa Lodge because of being tired and needed some where to stay. We were offered a deluxe suite with jacuzzi tub that blew our minds. Had the best time there and we were sold on this hotel. Why we stayed here was we were attending a concert in Bend and was extremely satisfied with our previous stay it was a no brainer to stay where you feel the comfort.

spent 2 nites while hiking in the 3 Sisters Wilderness. Excellent, large rooms with good amenities in an excellent location. Hot tub was wonderful after long hike as was the pool. Close to all that downtown Sisters has to offer. In my opinion easily the best deal in town!

This hotel exceeded our expectations. The staff was friendly and even offered a little gift basket for my dog! There's even a trail that leads to the national forest right behind the hotel. The room was incredibly clean and very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and it's within walking distance to everything in Sisters and a short drive to Bend.

Wonderful 2 nights at this hotel. Very comfortable bed which I appreciate because of chronic low back pain. This was one of the better beds! The breakfast was warm and plentiful. The room was clean and nicely decorated. Very pleasant experience all the way around. The room had good internet connection. A little slow but I was never booted off like some other hotels. Would stay again!

"Relaxation at the Ponderosa!"

18/07/2018

I stay at this hotel most times when visiting Sisters, for either Quilt Show week or general recreation. I've always had a great experience. I enjoyed the updated interiors of the rooms. I did miss the llamas, but the front desk staff said that a young alpaca herd will soon replace the llamas. The hotel is getting pricey and mentioned raising rates to $200/night during Quilt Show week, which may lead me to look at other options.

Ponderosa38103, General Manager at Best Western Ponderosa Lodge, responded to this review
Dear Scribepal, Thank you for your feedback! I am so happy to hear that you had another great experience at the Ponderosa Lodge. Our room renovations turned out beautifully and we still have big plans for the property such as landscaping. We miss our llama fellows deeply but they have retired to the owners large ranch which has the llama ladies (lucky boys!) and a large barn with stables. They are very well taken care of and they seem to be in good spirits in their retirement. The new alpacas should be at the Ponderosa Lodge by the end of the year. There are 18 young males that will be joining us and they are a spunky group! I apologize you feel our rates are getting to pricey. The Ponderosa Lodge tries to be competitive with our local hotels and now a days hotel rooms have been worth more due to room renovations and our competitors offering certain amenities that other hotels may not have to offer. We try to stay at a rate that is based in between our local competitors. We hope this will not discourage you from staying at the Ponderosa Lodge in the future as we truly value your business! Your business is very important to us and we value your feedback. We had a great time. The rooms was so spacious and comfortable. It was like a home away from home. The breakfast buffet had a good selection of items to select from. The grassy area was inviting to sit and watch the Llamas. Excellent place to stay, relax, and enjoy. Would encourage anyone to stay here.

"Nice location; great spot for travelers with dogs"

We were traveling with our dog. They were very accommodating. There's a decent little on-premises dog area. But right at the corner of the fence behind the dog area walk through the gap and you can follow short trails and even have your dog off leash. $15 dog fee added to your room rate. The hotel is nicely laid out and the rooms are nice. I wouldn't really call it a lodge, though.

20/06/2018

It was more of a motel, to be honest. The breakfast spread was decent but even though the room was clean and spacious, the overall vibe was slightly daunting and dull. Was expecting more! The staff was friendly and they have a nice garden area to eat breakfast. The banana nut muffins they serve are delicious! Also, the reception staff was very warm.

Dear Sabreen H, Thank you for your feedback! We appreciate you taking the time to fill out this survey and pointing out different areas in which the hotel can improve on. We have currently amped up our breakfast and started to serve eggs, potatoes and sausage catered from our Local Sisters Saloon Restaurant. We are very sorry to hear that you feel our overall hotel 'vibe' seems daunting and dull. We just recently went through renovations to improve the quality of our guest rooms in order to improve the overall 'vibe' guests experience when they stay at the Lodge. We hope that these recent additions to the Lodge help to brighten the hotel for future guests. We hope that you will consider staying with us again in the future. On behalf of our entire team, I would like to apologize for not exceeding your expectations. Your satisfaction is important to us and we will be using the feedback you gave us to implement improvements to ensure we offer a better experience for guests in the future. We stayed here because the rooms in Bend cost so much more. We liked the town of Sisters and glad we chose this hotel. Though downtown is an easy distance to walk, we drove in to eat dinner each night. There are not enough sidewalks between the hotel and downtown. We found the room clean and comfortable. Loved having two sinks, one in the bathroom and one outside of it. They serve a nice hot breakfast in the summers with eggs, potatoes, meat, and lots of other choices. The breakfast is catered from Sisters Saloon downtown.

"Motel in the Ponderosa Pines"

07/06/2018

This popular motel is right off of U.S. 20 on the west side of Sisters, making for easy access. The grounds are spacious and scenic. The two main building are solid and I did not notice road noise at night. My upstairs room was cozy with a table, easy chair, and a balcony. Room was clean and tidy each day of my three day stay. Bed on the firm side which I enjoy. Staff was welcoming and got me checked in quickly. The free breakfast is adequate but grew tiresome on the third day. Coffee was quite good at breakfast. Did not use the pool or hot tub, not sure if they were operational yet.

Love it at this hotel. The grounds are so beautiful and there are so many hiking opportunities around Sisters. The deer were walking right by our balcony.... The staff are friendly and the rooms are super clean and comfortable. Love the second floor with the balcony. We'll stay again for sure!

This BW is excellent! The rooms are very spacious decorated in a western theme with large cross beams and rustic furnishings. Very clean. Comfortable bed. I think there are 3 buildings and one building for travelers with pets. There are various room choices so be sure to check online or call to get what you need. Good breakfast with various hot and cold selections to please everyone. Great location right off the main road yet very quiet. Rooms look out onto a nice grassy area with large trees. Places to walk around the property. Nice outdoor pool and separate hot tub area that was covered. Laundry facilities on site. Our room had an additional sink outside the bathroom which was nice. The staff was friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this BW.

"Great place to stay"

29/05/2018

Were in Sisters for a bike race, stayed in one of the 'fancy' rooms. The bathroom was great with the walk-in shower and large ceiling mounted shower head, the jacuzzi tub was perfect after the race for soothing the muscles, and the kitchen worked perfectly so never ate out. It's not exactly in the heart of downtown, but so close you can walk or ride your bike. It was really quiet (except for the morning because of elephants on the floor above, which is not the hotel's fault it's just inconsiderate travelers) and cozy. Check-in was great - the staff was very helpful and did what they could to find a room that was available for early check-in.

"Wished we could have stayed longer!"

Stayed here only one night while on our way through Oregon. Best Western is usually pretty reliable, and this one did not disappoint! We checked in, only to find our room had not been cleaned (due to a mix-up because of being short-staffed). Front desk staff was very apologetic, and quickly upgraded us to a suite. We felt like we were in a high-priced condo unit! Very nicely designed and appointed room; it would be worth the extra to book this for a romantic getaway, or maybe an extended stay. We were very tired after two days on the road and didn't want to leave for a restaurant, so headed across the street to the grocery store to grab something simple to eat in the room. Nice store! Beds comfortable; peaceful and quiet property. Breakfast not spectacular, but enough to get you through the morning. Good idea to have microwaveable burritos and omelettes; less waste.

"Very nice room"

Room was clean and nice. Front staffs were very kind and polite. It is rather pricy, but considering having good breakfast, I understood. Wi-fi was not very strong for stream movies, that was only thinkg that can be improved.

We just had 6 weeks traveling through 3 countries where we stayed in hotels the entire time and when we got back to the states we went on a 6 week road trip and this hotel stands out as the one we enjoyed the most in our 3 months of traveling. We were greeted with friendly, smiling staff who were very efficient and accommodating and checked us in quickly. When we arrived at our room there were housekeeping staff working nearby who not only greeted us with smiles but asked us if we needed anything and if we did to just ask them. They were very pleasant. As soon as I opened the door I was so impressed by the high end slate flooring which was at the entry and continued into the luxurious bathroom. There was a beautiful 2 person jacuzzi bath tub which had a slide across wooden window which opened into the living area or closed for privacy. A unique feature which added to the charm of the room. The vanity was large with granite counter and plenty of storage space and the walk in shower was very large with a gorgeous etched glass picture wall on the bath side and it had a lovely rain head shower. The bathroom was a decadence to be enjoyed. To top it off they supplied the most decadent and softest bathrobe I've ever tried in any hotel so I purchased one to take home with me. We had a HUGE king room with a gorgeous stone fireplace, a kithcen area, separate dining area, a lounge to watch TV or relax on and a super luxurious leather lounge chair with ottoman. The leather chair set was so large and so very comfortable you could sleep in it. The king bed had log headboard and was very comfortable with lovely soft linens. There was a guest laundry just a few steps from our room so we did a load of wash and the machines were very clean and efficient and cheap too. We saw an outdoor pool but we didn't use it. We were too busy enoying our luxurious room. We've stayed in much higher priced rooms which haven't been half as nice as this one. You get a lot of room, luxuries and features for your money here. This was a memorable hotel and we'll definitely stay here again. I look forward to staying again and hopefully in the near future.

We rolled into town on a whim mid mothers day weekend so the fact that we had only once choice for a king size bed didn't surprise us and it was in a suite. Well after a long drive we took it without caring what the price was and we didn't regret it. The room was beautiful!! It had an amazing tub, great robes, big bed, nice couch, great view, and just felt comfortable.

We have stayed several times at this hotel and like all our previous visits we were happy with the results. The room was quiet with a nice property view. I am an avid reader and usually dis satisfied with the low wattage lamp bulbs. But this hotel provides higher wattage lamp bulbs. For avid old readers, it was a pleasure to read without eyestrain - a big deal for me.

Stayed for one night on our way to Corvallis. Very nice hotel and our room was large. The water pressure in the shower is not great. The breakfast is nice. Good location to walk to shops and restaurants. Generally a very nice hotel.

Easy to find and navigate once you arrive. The desk staff were very pleasant and helpful. The room was nicely decorated with a fitting decor for the region. Spacious with nice furniture and a huge extremely comfortable bed! Appliances are modern with a large refrigerator. If I find myself needing to stay in Sister's again I will choose The Ponderosa again.

We generally like Best Western motels. They are part of a overwhelmingly reputable bunch that all adhere to good, predictable standards of service. Usually. This one has seen better days, is ready for an overhaul. Semi-functioning sliding doors whose locks are inoperable, squishy-lumpy mattresses (I have never, ever awakened with such a sore back). Average breakfast fare. In that Oregon mountain setting, of course, one forgives much however. And yet, and yet... We spent two nights here. Midmorning following our first night, I spotted the little blue cart of housekeeping staff, just down the corridor. Oh, good. The room will be perfect when we return this evening. It wasn't. Had been skipped, in fact. I approached the resident manager at the front desk, inquiring. The response I would describe as FLATLINE. Not even the pretense of caring (isn't that what the hospitality business is about?) His single sentence, "Are there supplies you need?" was the entire response. I returned furious to our room, where little things like dim or missing light bulbs and duplex wall sockets so worn your charger simply dropped onto the floor -- all that stuff -- began to mount up onto the unmade beds, the towels left exactly as when we'd departed that morning for a day exploring, to a disgusting second night. Ever had the sense you were slumming it, when you had so looked forward to your choice of lodging? That was us. In short, even the illusion of caring had gone missing. Clearly this rating is in the minority. If you decide to risk the place, well and good. May your stay be pleasanter than ours. The second star is added in acknowledgement of somebody's choice of this primo location, once.

We stayed in a basic king room on an overnighter. It was clean and quite large- it featured a couch as well as a table and 2 chairs. The breakfast was kind of an upgraded continental. Omelettes and breakfast burritos that could be microwaved. Instant oatmeal and yogurt with quite a few add ons (raisins, granola, coconut, etc), biscuits and gravy, hard boiled eggs, waffles and the standard toaster breads. They also offered a breakfast to go.Our room did have a private balcony- perhaps all rooms do- looking out over the pool. We would definitely return.

My husband and I had business in Sisters and spent 1 night here in a King pet friendly room. It was clean, spacious, did not smell pet like, and had a very, very comfortable bed. The decor is Western and it looks newerish but it's been decorated that way for 20 years. Our room smelled like it had just been painted. But overall it was a great value, very clean and comfortable and the staff is very friendly.

We selected the Ponderosa Lodge for a brief Sisters visit based on the previous, positive reviews. Our experience is those reviews are spot-on. The morning and afternoon staff is friendly, accommodating and very helpful. Our King bedroom was spacious, spotless, inviting and quiet. It appears that a number of rooms are receiving new drapes, light fixtures, paint and other fresh elements that will make great accommodations even better for the Easter break and summer vacation crowd. We'll be back this summer to check out the llamas!

"Sweet Suite in Sisters"

Our suite was lovely with all the cozy amenities we wanted... fire place, comfortable bed and pillows, nice sitting area, comfy robes and very nice jacuzzi tube for two. It was very well kept with great decor and layout. We were very happy with it and would have loved to stay longer. Hopefully next time.

The place is very nice, very clean. Our suite was beautiful with a big soaking, jacuzzi tub. The bed was hard and the sheets were scratchy like there was too much starch or bleach or detergent on them. I couldn't sleep at all. The bed makes it or breaks for me. So disappointing.

We had an excellent stay at this Best Western in Sisters. Staff was very friendly & helpful, and our room was clean and comfortable. We requested the first floor due to mobility issues, and this was quickly accommodated. Beds were comfortable, and the two queen bedroom was spacious enough for our party. The hotel appears well-maintained and we enjoyed the "lodge" feel of our room. Look out for the mule deer in the area close to the parking lot. We saw a whole family of them when we got up for breakfast, which was a real treat for our toddler. The breakfast was great--lots of choices including cereals, waffles, fruits, and pastries. We'll definitely stay here again in a future visit to Sisters!

My wife and I stayed here recently. We live only a few hours away, but staying at the Best Western Ponderosa Lodge definitely put our minds far, far away from the hustle of everyday life. The premises is wide open and the log cabin feel is great. There is an steamy outdoor hot tub that is incredibly inviting on a cold December day. The interior of the rooms are unbelievable. We stayed in a suite and really enjoyed the fire place, and the Jacuzzi tub. Everything about this hotel exceeded our expectations - the comfort, the amenities, and the staff - I spoke with Desirae at the front desk, she was exceptionally cordial and generous. Thanks Desirae and the Staff at BW Ponderosa Lodge for making our stay awesome!

My family and I decided to try something different this year and go on vacation for Thanksgiving. Sisters, OR has a tree lighting the day after Thanksgiving and a Christmas parade the day after that. There are so many other fun activities we decided to stay at the Ponderosa Lodge in Sisters. I have five children 10 and under, the suite they offer is so much fun for our family. They have roll away beds and provided a pack and play with linens! The jaquzzi jetted tub, fireplace, breakfasts, and many other features make this a wonderful vacation spot!

I visit Sisters just about every year, with my sister. We love the Ponderosa Lodge. The room was, of course, very clean and quite large. Nice rustic decor and the grounds are beautiful. I booked this hotel not really knowing too much about it. The photos looked nice, the price was good and the location was what I needed. After checking in, I was so happy that I booked our stay here! The room was amazing! AMAZING! We booked an upper level suit and it was beyond what I could have hoped for. It was the perfect place to relax and unwind after exploring Bend. The floor to ceiling stone fireplace was perfect! The grounds are nice as well. They have a nice pool and llamas! Oh, and the complimentary breakfast was pretty good as well. I can't wait to book my next vacation!

Don't try to find this location at night. There are few lights, and no roadside sign. Location is pleasant, and the room was nice, but their breakfast left a lot to be desired. They had several lamas in a pen behind the motel that my wife enjoyed. The town of Sisters is quaint and nice to walk around.

10/10/2017

Approaching the lodge, we could see why it is named the Ponderosa Lodge! The lodge pole pine supports, the wooden balconies, and the exterior of the lodge had us humming the theme song from "Bonanza!" Our double queen bed room was very spacious, clean and with extremely comfortable beds. How often do you get two vanities; one in the bathroom and one outside of it? That is great when two women travel together. Each room has a balcony that overlooks the corral of llamas! The front desk personnel, Cathy and Troy, were friendly and welcoming. You can tell they take pride in their establishment. Breakfast was good, too.

We were in Sisters for a wedding and had a spectacular experience with the Ponderosa Lodge. The room was massive - a huge sitting area with a fireplace. A nice bedroom and a huge bathroom with a hot tub. It was extremely quiet and the grounds are well kept. Even the breakfast was top notch for a complimentary buffet - Conveniently located by several restaurants and within walking distance to downtown. A great place to have a long weekend get away.

This location has become a yearly event at the Best Western Ponderosa Lodge in Sisters , Ore. We usually arrive on our Harley Motorcycles. Lots of things to do in the area. Several stores within walking distance of the Hotel. They a Llamas on site as well as several deer show up on the property in mornings & evenings. Plus you are only a mile or so to downtown Sisters.

Beautiful area and good access to hiking and recreation. Expensive for stay. Black Butte good hike and not too difficult and quick but rough drive from here. Early snow on mtn but gorgeous. Really nice property but too expensive, Early book should have resulted in lower price. Senior and Best Western Rewards.

Beautiful, spotless room; tasty breakfast; excellent, clean pool; friendly llamas; fine birdwatching area and walk-in access to National Forest. We came to sisters to walk and to bird. This hotel was perfect!

"Nice Dog Friendly Hotel"

4
20/09/2017

Hotel is located on a large, forested site, and we were greeted by a small herd of deer on our arrival. Hotel is dog-friendly and backs up to National Forest land for walking and exploring. Breakfast was above average, eggs scrambled with fresh vegetables. Décor is rustic/log cabin-like, with cute little accents.

Wish I could tell you more, but then you'd all book our favorite room and we'd be out of luck! (Alpine-style rooms are awesome, but I didn't tell you that!). Excellent place to stay, Sisters is fun town to visit!

"Luxury relaxing room with a Jacuzzi"

5
06/09/2017

My fiance and I wanted to spend the long labor day weekend in Sisters to plan our upcoming wedding and meet with vendors. We booked the King Suite with the Jacuzzi tub and could not have been more impressed! The front desk staff was able to accommodate our last minute request to stay another night and were happy to help. In addition, the room was a wonderful place to stay and escape the smoky outdoors. It has a lovely fireplace and you could even watch TV from inside of the Jacuzzi. The king bed was heaven and extremely comfortable. If you're looking for a place to get away and recharge without spending a crazy amount of money - Ponderosa Lodge in Sisters is it!

"Surprising"

Given the remote location of the property and the few number of lodgings available, I didin't expect much. It was very nice and the staff were very helpful as we got there during the forest fires and needed to make sure our route was clear.

31/08/2017

There's basically nothing I would change about this place - and there's always something! Everything just seemed so well-thought out. The wood log exterior and the grounds are beautiful - and the covered wagons and alpacas gave it a lot of charm. We stayed in a standard room on the second floor with our 3-year old and 1-year old and it was perfect for us. My kids loved the balcony, and we loved that we had somewhere to hang out after they'd gone to bed. The pack n' play for the baby was clean and comfy. The pool and hot tub were great. And the breakfast was surprisingly good - with eggs and waffles too. But the grounds were what made it special. There were lots of places to hang out and my kids loved having grass to run around in (and they got a kick out of feeding the alpacas). We would definitely come back!

"Great affordable place to stay."

26/08/2017

Troy was very helpful when we needed to extend our stay an extra two nights. He arranged it so we could stay in the same room all 4 nights even though the hotel was almost completely booked, and he kept our discount for the whole stay. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Also, we stayed on the ground floor and our patio opened up directly onto a nice well-maintained yard area which was very pleasant for porch-sitting.

"Great Hotel in a great location"

5
26/08/2017

The Hotel has a beautiful look with heavy timber built into the facade, the rooms in the upper stories have a really high ceiling which adds to the feeling of having a huge room - which is true, the pool is great and the balcony as well. The breakfast is good with a nice variety and good presentation.

We came for the solar eclipse and we loved the hotel, the service and the city! Very clean, nice people, good breakfast. The lamas add and the swimming pool are a bonus. We really liked it. A little bit smoky in the mornings due to the fires in the mountains. We recomend the hotel and Sisters.

We loved the setting, with the beautiful pine forest and the llamas over the fence. The knotty pine ceiling in our room was beautiful, and all the gorgeous wood everywhere in the walkway leading to the rooms gave the ambiance a western feeling. Enjoyed having a balcony. The bed was very comfortable, the shower great, and the breakfast was delicious. The scrambled eggs had tasty additions (cheese, spinach, etc.), and they were not overcooked or dry.

"Lovely Lodge"

02/08/2017

Spent two nights at the BW Ponderosa Lodge in Sisters, OR. We had a suite with a lovely Jacuzzi and a fireplace (though we didn't use that). They have a continental breakfast but we had meetings for breakfast elsewhere. The staff was helpful and pleasant. The lodge is very near the main highway but we never heard any traffic (or construction as they were working on it at night) noise at all. We have back issues and the beds were perfect for us. They were good quality. A bit expensive but we were looking for a nice place to stay so it was worth it to us.

Paul S, General Manager at Best Western Ponderosa Lodge, responded to this review
Dear JuliebC, Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I love our suites and I'm happy to see that you loved them too. Our suite was like staying in an upscale lakeside cabin. Tastefully decorated, love the rain shower, and separate living and bedroom. Staff went out of their way to make sure guests are taken care of. And breakfast was not powdered eggs, they use a caterer and the eggs were sooo good. Pool was very well cared for daily.

From check in to check out - everything was perfect! The hotel has wood ceilings, wood headboards, and lots of wood throughout giving you the old time feel. Check in was quick and easy, the rooms comfortable and nice having 2 sinks - one inside the bathroom and one outside the bathroom. Breakfast was great - scrambled eggs, sausage, potatoes, and waffles along with yogurt, oatmeal, pastries and drinks. They have a nice group of llamas that you can feed as well. The outdoor pool is heated and the hot tub was nice. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone traveling in the area!

Dear Trytogetawayoften, I love your review name! Thank you for writing such a nice review. As you probably know the breakfast is a new thing and we really appreciate the feedback. "Sunset Beauty"

5
27/07/2017

The chance to see a beautiful sunset from the lodge's grounds was an excellent fringe benefit. I appreciated the posting on the llamas' fence of excellent information about llamas plus photos which help guests know the names of eight resident llamas. (Other llamas were temporarily absent.) Although the lodge makes available free llama food for guests' use, don't count on being able to feed the llamas. To avoid overfeeding, the food container isn't immediately refilled when the day's supply is gone. No food was in the container the evening I arrived or when I checked early the next morning. But even without that food, some of the llamas were close enough to the fence for my early morning photography. Information in the room explains that baggage handling service can be requested. This could be important for some guests with second-floor rooms, as there's no elevator. I like dogs and cats but wanted a room which isn't pet friendly. At least on the day I arrived, that meant I received a second-floor room. Guests with pet-related allergies might want to consider requesting a room which isn't pet-friendly when making reservations. Wagons which bring to mind the Oregon Trail are on the property. A notebook in the room has a list of more than 90 possible things to do. A mule deer and three fawns made an early-morning crossing of a road leading away from the lodge. If while driving you see one or more deer, be careful. More deer could be close behind. I saw a motorist stop to avoid hitting a fawn.

22/07/2017

What a surprise!!! We were upgraded to a suite upon arrival "Happy Anniversary to us " this was one of our most pleasant trips in years and right in our own backyard only a 3 hour drive !!! The staff is amazing so friendly made us feel like part of their family and they all go out of their way to make your stay welcoming.Just sitting on our balcony watching the llamas that call the hotel home or the deer that visit daily or soaking up some rays at the pool after a day exploring the surrounding area just terrific!!! And how often in our busy lives do you get to see a doe with her 3 fawns first for me and my husband ! We will visit again thanks for a great week.

20/07/2017

Very friendly staff. We came on very short notice and had to take a more expensive room than we usually do. But in the end it was well worth it, very pleasant stay in all respects! We had also booked a room for two friends of ours from New York, and the were very impressed.

"Great for a Family Reunion"

20/07/2017

Went there with daughter and small grandchildren from another state. Everything was delightful! We spend several happy times at the pool. The breakfast was excellent with a lot of variety. Even my vegan daughter could find an abundance of good things to eat. The motel is located very close to the shopping, and the kids adored feeding the llamas their special food. It's evident that a lot of care goes into this place.

"Nice motel"

19/07/2017

The only problem we had with this motel is that our room wasn't ready when we arrived. We were with a group and all in our party got their rooms but us. The room was still being cleaned and that late in the day it should have been done! We were up-graded which was nice but still! All of our friends were in the pool and we still didn't have a room! Don't get me wrong the motel is very nice and our room was GREAT but they might need more help in the cleaning department.

Whenever in the Sisters area we make a point of staying at this property, great value for what is offered, superb location. We always request one of the downstairs suites and my wife very much likes comfort offered. Easy to get around and we love the large grass public area and the trees on the property. It feels like a resort while there but not at resort prices. Very quite location as well.

"Perfect Place to Stay"

5
11/07/2017

We stayed in two different rooms at the Ponderosa Lodge when we attended the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show. The first night was in the King Suite. The suite was beautiful and such a nice treat. For about $100 more than a standard room you must go for it especially if you are looking for a romantic getaway. The amenities and furnishings were comfortable and high quality. Bathroom with full spa tub, walk-in waterfall shower, well appointed King bedroom, stone fireplace, comfy living room, bar area, Kuerig coffee maker desk, larger balcony, etc. Even the little touches were there... better quality soaps, shampoos, towels, blankets. Our second night was in a standard queen room and was fine as well. Clean, well stocked, comfy beds. Breakfast was good with eggs, sausage, potatoes and then all of the other typical items. We enjoyed our food outside at the picnic tables provided.

Paul S, General Manager at Best Western Ponderosa Lodge, responded to this review
Dear Babobear1, I was so happy to get your review and hear that you had such a nice time. This is a special property and those suites are something else. I'm glad you enjoyed the upgrade. 10/07/2017

After looking around for a place to stay near Bend during a long cross country road trip, we settled on the Ponderosa Lodge so the kids could have a different setting than the standard chain hotels we've stayed in thus far on our trip. What an unexpected delight our one night stay was! We were upgraded to a very sizable suite with a gorgeous bathroom. Our daughter loved feeding the llamas. The breakfast was definitely the best of the string of hotels we've stayed in over the past week. If we are ever in this area again, we would stay here again without hesitation.

"Mean & Patronizing Night Staff Person"

2
10/07/2017

After whole evening of car alarm noise outside our door, I asked night staff if person whose car alarm kept going off could just move his car. Late night staff person said no he wouldn't disturb those guests (!).This was after alarm malfunctioned repeatedly late into nighttime and our child couldn't sleep. Since he wouldn't control the noise (said it had been quite which that was false) I said I thought I should call the police. He rang our room back immediately at 11:45 pm waking our child again and threatened that if we (!) created a nuisance they would kick us out. All other hotels are booked. Then he hung up on me after I called back to deescalate our situation. The man was rude and then actually hung up on me. For almost $900 for 5 days I can't understand how he could be so mean. He said it was my fault that he would kick me out making me feel intimidated. I feel intimidated even writing this since we are still here. This is upsetting and very unfair.

Paul S, General Manager at Best Western Ponderosa Lodge, responded to this review
Dear Kat39725, Please accept my apologies for the way your situation was handled. I've spoken with ownership and learned that you had an opportunity to speak with him about what happened. I'm glad he was here to help you the next morning. For my part, I'm so sorry that you were made to feel like your experience here was less important than another guest's. The entire interaction that you describe sounds awful. I will be discussing the event with my night auditor and the rest of my staff. There should never be any instance where we come across as "mean" or "patronizing" and I promise you that I will make that perfectly clear. Sincerely, J. Paul Sala Jr. General Manager Best Western Ponderosa Lodge

"Llamas Inn residence!"

09/07/2017

I always begin a trip searching for the Best Western hotels. This one in Sisters, Oregon was my favorite! Lovely high country area, delightful city, and the BW Ponderosa with a great staff, catered breakfast items, and 8 Llamas to fawn over. Charming in every way. I strongly recommend this inn! The city is very much like a big family, very friendly to travelers; the BW Ponderosa more so! I will be returning there many times in the future. It's a "FIND"!

This place was amazing! Customer service was off the charts, my suite (which was a surprise upgrade) was incredible. I couldn't have rented a lodge that was nicer! The decorating tips and size of the room was unbelievable. The free breakfast was very good and the grounds were immaculate, as well as the rooms themselves. I would have never thought a Best Western could have been this fancy. Unfortunately we were only here 2 nights, could have stayed a week!

Paul S, General Manager at Best Western Ponderosa Lodge, responded to this review
Dear Klondike's Mom, It's always nice to get such a wonderful review; thank you for writing it. We've got a super nice property and I'm so glad you enjoyed your visit. During our trip we stayed in a number of facilities and this one was by far the best one and the best value for our money. Would not think twice about booking here again and we will. A combination of service and a well designed eye appealing environment sure kept me happy. An excellent value for the money.

what a great surprise! fun decor with a log cabin feel, - large room, private deck, working fireplaces, knotty pine, a large jetted tub with a pocket sliding window to the bed from the tub! fridge in the room, 2 tvs with lots of stations, a way to soak in the tub and watch tv, lots of towels, pillows, so a roomy feel and free breakfast too. I never got to use the outdoor pool and hottub. Breakfast was a big variety for the usual hotel one with make your own waffles, soymilk too, boiled eggs, a variety of muffins, biscuits and gravy, oatmeal packets, herb teas, .... we had a great time

"Great place to stay and bird watch"

5
29/06/2017

My husband and I went to Sisters after six nights in Malheur National Wildlife Refuge where our accommodations were very basic, so this place was like heaven- great shower, clean room, comfy beds and quiet. We had early breakfast both days since we were bird watching and were pleased they let us get cereal and bananas well before it opened at 7. We enjoyed bird watching on the grounds and could walk a short ways into the National Forest land that was adjacent. I would stay there again, although I wish the staff had put out fresh water for the birds daily.

"The BEST Best Western EVER !!!"

28/06/2017

I have been to so many places but this accommodation is by far the best I have seen (in it's category). Where shall I start? The staff: incredible kind, friendly, helpful and qualified! It was always nice to talk to them and both check-in and check-out was very friendly and professional. The property: beautiful! Very neat, clean and nestled between pine trees. The rooms: awesome! I spend two nights there, one night in a standard room (which was yet very large) and one night in a suite (which was extra large and had additional amenities like e.g. a river rock fireplace and a Jacuzzi). The rooms are very stylish and cozy and all have either a patio or a balcony. Oh, and did I mention that: they were super clean! Wifi worked very well. The only thing they could maybe improve is the complimentary breakfast. I would love to return to this Lodge not only because Sisters is such a nice destination always worth a visit but also because I love this Ponderosa Lodge!

This hotel is a pleasant surprise. The setting within grassy meadows is charming. Outside our window we can observe a small herd of llamas. There is a pool and most rooms, maybe all rooms, feature balconies. Breakfast is not so great but fortunately Sisters Coffee Company is nearby.

Paul S, Manager at Best Western Ponderosa Lodge, responded to this review
Dear Lily R, Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I'm happy to hear that you enjoyed our grounds and the llamas. (They get a lot of great press!) "Pleasant Sisters, OR Stay"

This hotel, despite a lack of outside signage due to road construction, was quite nice. An elevator would make it perfect. The room was spacious and clean. We enjoyed making friends with the resident llamas & alpacas.

Excellent hotel in a beautiful setting on the edge of a forest. Nice outside pool, and free breakfast. The deluxe suite was spacious, and nicely furnished. Lodge style hotel with lots of wide open spaces. Start with the friendly folks at checkin and then enjoy a clean and comfortable room. The property is ideally located in close proximity to Black Butte, Camp Sherman, and Bend. One of the best things about this hotel is that it's in Sisters so that you can enjoy the forest and a charming small town. If you want more action you can always head to Bend for the day but come back to the peace and quiet of Sisters and the Ponderosa Lodge. I've stayed here at least 6 times and will come back again and again.

20/06/2017

Good location, clean and friendly, helpful service. Good variety for breakfast to start your day. Just off the main road to Sisters, Ore close to grocery shopping, restaurants and gas. If you're into walking, downtown Sisters is an easy walk where shops and variety stores are easy to access. Sisters is a lovely tourist stop that will remind you of yesteryears. The BW Lodge is an excellent choice for a family.

"Great hotel, but the nearby roads are not pedestrian-friendly"

5
14/06/2017

Not your typical Best Western; it didn't feel like a chain hotel at all. It had a great location near downtown Sisters with a huge corral of llamas to watch and a gigantic green space to play in. The staff was friendly and efficient. The downstairs room was comfortable and quiet, and the free breakfast was plentiful and way better than the breakfast included at most hotels. However, the roads near the hotel are all under construction and you will be taking your life into your hands if you walk instead of taking a car to town. Trust us; we nearly got mowed down in a crosswalk where the drivers on Route 20 were clearly NOT used to pedestrians. Perhaps when the road construction is finished it will be possible to walk to town from this Best Western.

I can't say enough about how wonderful this place is! The room was spacious and comfortable. The beds are comfy and enveloping. The heated pool really is heated and the hot tub was wonderful. The setting is in the trees, it is tranquil and restful but right in town. The breakfast has choices for everyone! You can not leave hungry. And then there is the staff, I have not ever experienced such a completely dedicated to the traveler staff. They were helpful and friendly and wonderful. We have visited Sisters yearly for 42 years and this is our favorite hotel!

"Great property"

Stayed in a suite room -- everything was perfect. The California quail picking through the grass outside my room was an added bonus. The room is decorated in rustic lodge style, and it looked appropriate for the location. Nice stone fireplace, too.

We have stayed here twice in the past year, once in the late summer and once in the winter. We travel with our dog and appreciate that this hotel accepts pets. Our experiences have been positive. We love the location, grounds and the llamas! They have a good breakfast too! We will be back.

"Nice rooms, beautiful grounds"

4
27/05/2017

Stayed there one night. The rooms are large and the bed was comfortable---which is not usually the case for me. The grounds are gorgeous and there are multiple places for families to sit outside and talk or eat. We didn't use the pool or hot tub, but it looked very inviting. There are huge lawns for children to run around and llamas are fenced next door, which were fun to watch.

"Wonderful grounds and made for a nice weekend vacation"

5
26/05/2017

We stayed in one of the "suites" on the property. It was a nice, roomy bedroom-living room area with a small kitchenette area and a nice two room bathroom with an open rain shower-head enclosure and a separate Jacuzzi. The complimentary breakfast was much more complete than what we have gotten in other hotels. Adirondack chairs on the back porch allowed us to enjoy the early evening while families played frisbee on the great expanse of lawn or while others enjoyed the resident llamas that live on the property. I would highly recommend this as a nice stopping off place while in Sisters.

Breakfast was really not good, but great property with all rooms facing west. Rustic decor very appropriate for the area. Front desk very helpful with local dining options. Very dog freindly. Large property with Llamas in residence. Room frig and cooler made so much noise that sleep was not possible without unplugging them.

, Manager at Best Western Ponderosa Lodge, responded to this review
Dear Larry and Maureen, Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I'm sorry to hear that the refrigerator and AC interfered with your sleep but happy to hear that you like the décor. I'm particularly pleased that the front desk was able to help you. We are currently reviewing our breakfast offerings and there is a possibility that we will be catering in hot breakfast items. Hopefully, this will be in place the next time you visit! Sincerely, Paul Sala General Manager

"Wonderful place in the central Oregon Cascade mountains."

23/05/2017

The decor is perfect-Ponderosa yah; the staff is helpful, kind and just plain nice! The area right outside the hotel grounds is forested with local small wildlife and birds and the weather is always good even with sunshine in the winter. We return a couple times per year to enjoy the llamas (so sad at the passing this winter of the two eldest ones) and the view of the magnificent Oregon Sister's peaks.

27/04/2017

The rooms have a rustic 1900 look to them. Sisters as a whole is a theme town where everything is made to look like turn of the 20th century. I picked a suite which is a huge room with jacuzzi & large walk in shower. The bed was comfortable & also included a fireplace with tv & VHS/DVD player so you can play your own movies. There is a rental across the highway in the grocery store. I've stayed before and probably will again. I just like the place.

, General Manager at Best Western Ponderosa Lodge, responded to this review
Dear Aok98 - It was great to have you stay with us in one of our suites during your recent visit to Sisters. Those rooms, with the Old Hickory brand furniture and décor themes that are "lodge-like" really do add to the enjoyment of one's stay. As you noted, they are a little more expensive but are well worth it! Our Lodgepole rooms (standard rooms) are still quite nice but are less expensive for cost-conscious travelers. We're glad to hear that you'll visit us again and we hope it is soon! Loy Helmly & Staff

We came to Sisters, Oregon for our daughters lacrosse tournament and the Best Western Ponderosa Lodge was a great location for us. Very comfortable with a mini fridge and microwave and pleanty of room.

The Ponderosa Lodge in Sisters is a beautiful place to stay. It is just out of town and off the road. On one side is a lovely pine forest and on the other a large yard where llamas live. 04/04/2017

Rooms: Very spacious, comfortable and well appointed. Looks like they had remodeled. Nice porch size as well. Bed was a Simons Beautyrest and was the best best I have slept on in years and I have a bad back and am sensative to beds. Service: Excellent. Very friendly and accommodating Value: We got a great deal we think because there was construction blocking their entry so you had to go into town and around. It was cheaper than hotwire. Hot tub: Huge rectangular one. Maybe 15 by 10. Very nice with a high cover. Location: Excellent. Right as you enter Sisters so within range of Suttle Lake, Camp Sherman, Bend. Only negative was you had to ask for a dvd player if you wanted one and we had to have help setting it up as they did not give us enough cords at first. They were very helpful however and prompt! Free breakfast: lots of variety. Fruit was good. You could heat up different things like breakfast burritos etc. Waffle was good. Otherwise it was the usual. Nice trail for walking behind the hotel.

18/11/2016

We had our wedding here...yep you read that correctly! Our wedding...they have a mostly unused space that is used for a board room and I think a quilting show and other random groups...but never for a wedding. There is an outdoor BBQ. and the space opens up to a park like setting and outdoor pool. We had about 40 guests in total and we had a blast!! The price was negligible to the point I won't even say what we paid to use the space. But if you are considering to have a wedding in Sisters...honey this place will cost you in its entirety the same amount as maybe 5% of any other competing hotel. It is ten times more beautiful, and yes they do accommodate caterers, have a fridge...and did I mention a BBQ? Also, they allowed us to book the rooms surrounding the board room/wedding space. It's a beautiful hotel. Lovely staff. And well...I'm writing this as a thank you and in hopes I didn't just out the best kept secret in Sisters, Oregon.

Ponderosa38103, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Ponderosa Lodge, responded to this review
Hello marlisaiahmama - Congratulations on your wedding (even though its belated) and thank you for such a nice note. We have to admit that that we were surprised to read your comments about your wedding here. We often have guests rent our Ponderosa Meeting Room for all sorts of different uses, but your wedding is one of the first that we can recall. We're so glad that you enjoyed your visit, however we don't normally have weddings on site (rehearsal dinners, bridal showers, yes....but not the ceremony and party) as such celebrations can occasionally disturb the peaceful ambience which our other guests enjoy here. We're glad to hear that all went well with your event and thank you for all your visiting guests being so well-mannered while celebrating. We do appreciate your hearty recommendation to others and we might need to reconsider our wedding venue status (and pricing). We do have a wonderful staff here and beautiful setting and we'll try to be sure we help all our guests enjoy their stay with us, just as you did. Best regards, Loy Helmly & Staff

We stayed two nights and had a great time. The room was large, with table and chairs, a sofa and a king-size bed. Our room had a microwave and refrigerator and two sinks. The continental breakfast was perfect, and coffee was provided in the room as well. We loved drinking coffee while sitting on the patio chairs, watching the deer and llamas. The pool was closed for the winter, but the covered hot tub was perfect for the cool evenings. The motel is within walking distance of the wonderful shops of Sisters. This had to be the best place to stay in Sisters.

Dear speggary - It's great to know that you enjoyed your stay with us! Yes...winter is on its way and we enjoyed our first light snowfall last night, so that outdoor hot tub was even more magical. We appreciate you letting other guests know about our facilities and services and our "walking distance" proximity to down town, yet we have our peaceful, Ponderosa pine setting to add to the relaxation. We hope you can come visit us again soon! All the best.....Loy Helmly & Staff

Great place to stay. Comfortable, clean, quiet, and we were able to get an early check in. Recommend it. Easy to get to, feed the Llamas next door, and sit in the hot tub at night. Friendly helpful staff. No elevator, so if you have bad knees ask for the ground floor.

Ponderosa38103, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Ponderosa Lodge, responded to this review
Dear Horsieheidi - What a fun name for an equine lover! We're so happy that you enjoyed your stay in our western themed town of Sisters. Combined with our own log styled structure, expansive lawns underneath towering Ponderosa pines and a "country feel" to the property here, you must have felt right at home! Your suggestion to other travelers about requesting a ground floor room for easy access is a good one to note. Other travelers might like the second floor with the vaulted ceilings in the rooms and balconies for viewing the pool and spacious tree lined courtyard area. Whatever the case, there's something for everyone here! Best regards, Loy Helmly & Staff

Ponderosa38103, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Ponderosa Lodge, responded to this review
Dear Ar546HRjohnw - We are so glad you enjoyed your recent visit with us. The Aspen Suite in which you stayed certainly does have "all the bells and whistles" of a luxury styled room and the western motif of our interior design adds to the ambience here. Our standard rooms are nice, but our suites are superb and we're glad you enjoyed them! Travel safely and we'll hope to see you again soon! Loy Helmly & Staff

We were greatly surprised of the spacious room. It was beautifully decorated with western style. It felt like a luxury cabin were we could relax and rest. If we were to stay longer, we would of loved to walk the trails. We will come back and stay again.

Dear Ellen B - It was nice to read your review here on TripAdvisor (as well as Medallia) and to hear that you enjoyed your room so much! The suites here at the Ponderosa Lodge are truly nice rooms and we're glad you noted them for other travelers to know about. Our standard rooms are nice as well, but the suites are our best! We hope you can come visit again in the future and walk the trails as you commented! Travel safely and we'll hope to see you again. Loy Helmly & Staff

Very accomadating staff. Clean, nicely decorated rooms. Nice breakfast spread. Close enough to Sisters to walk to town. We always bring our pet and they provided a basket with bisquits, bags for poop pick-up and a sheet to cover the bed. They also honored a gift certificate we forgot to bring.

We appreciate being able to keep in touch with you and wish you all the best for good fortune in your travels. Loy Helmly & Staff

"Ho-hum, another nice stay at the Ponderosa"

31/10/2016

I have stayed at the Ponderosa about 10 times, mostly for business. Even if it was for pleasure, it would be my first choice when staying in Sisters. It's just a cool place. The grounds are well kept and there is a small herd of llamas. Nice, covered outdoor pool with a hot tub. Rooms are finished in a cool, western motif. The rooms are large, clean, and the bed is extremely comfortable. Staff is always friendly. The continental breakfast doesn't offer any hot food options, but the quality of the offerings is good.

Ponderosa38103, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Ponderosa Lodge, responded to this review
Dear Scot L - We were glad to read of your recent stay (also on Medallia) and to know that you stay with us so often for business. We have a lot of business travelers who stay with us as our location is convenient for so many reasons. Thanks for commenting favorably on so many aspects of your visit and especially the friendliness of our staff. We have a great team here and we're happy to know you enjoy their service. One quick clarification (mostly for other visitors) is that our outdoor hot tub is covered but the pool is not which means the hot tub is open year-round but the pool closes for the winter. Just wanted to be sure no new visitors thought the pool was open this winter! We hope to see you again soon and we wish you safe travels until your return. Loy Helmly & Staff

Comfortable, clean and a great value. Location right on the edge of town is perfect. Suites are spacious and work well for gatherings. Free breakfast was surprisingly good. Best: all the staff were polite and helpful, Kalli at the front desk was friendly and totally on top of things.

Ponderosa38103, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Ponderosa Lodge, responded to this review
Hello Michael T - Thank you for your notes about your recent visit and helpful hints about the spacious Aspen suites which we have in addition to our Lodgepole (standard) rooms. Thanks also for complimenting Kali and I responded to you via the Best Western Medallia system. We're glad everything met with your approval and we'll look forward to your next visit as well! "Great Place to Stay w/ Gorgeous Ambiance!"

25/10/2016

Excellent place to stay...quiet, and beautiful, wooded ambiance with the nice addition of outdoor breakfast option and Llamas to feed as well! Highly recommend this! Nice, basic breakfast w/ sausage gravey/buscuits; microwavable omelets, waffle maker x 2; assorted breads/muffins, packaged cereal & oatmeal, fruit cups, whole fruit, juice, coffee/tea assortment. Could definitely use a 2nd microwave to heat the refrigerated omelets to minimize breakfast area congestion. Nice to have an outdoor pool & hot tub! An exercise room would be a nice added bonus for the hotel to consider, or a free pass to one of the local exercise clubs. Overall, would still recommend! Lots of BEAUTIFUL places to hike nearby, and walk, too! Can walk to restaurants/cafes, too...easy to find off of the Highway...

Ponderosa38103, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Ponderosa Lodge, responded to this review
Dear 2cats2013 - Wow...we sure appreciate your thorough review regarding your recent stay. It's great to know that so many of our facilities and services met your expectations so well....especially with your wonderful comments about breakfast! We also appreciate your suggestions for the additional microwave and the exercise room. The microwave might be an easy fix so we can consider that option. As for the workout area, we've chosen to use the great outdoors instead of indoors....so many of our guests hike, bike and generally spend more time outside for their exercise! We hope you will come again and continue to take advantage of all that Sisters and the Ponderosa Lodge have to offer. See you soon! Loy Helmly

"Warm Welcome and Dog Friendly Rooms"

24/10/2016

We were warmly greeted upon arrival and given a basket for our Labrador( biscuits, dogs bags and a sheet to cover the bed. The room is spacious and well appointed. Our 13 year old Lab loved that she could walk into the room without steps and that the sliding door opened to a beautiful large green lawn that was perfect for observing the world. The hotel breakfast had fruit, yogurt and other good options. We will definitely make this stop a favorite place in Central Oregon.

Dear AliceMariam - We remember seeing you walk your dog this past weekend and she was definitely a good girl while here! We have many guests who enjoy the pet friendly rooms which we have (12 out of our 75 total) and we see many furry friends time after time. We think the pets enjoy the setting here just as much as their owners do! Thank you for making such nice notes about your stay for other guests to review and we hope you can come visit us again when your travels take you through our area in the future. Enjoyed the hotel. Clean, big, with comfortable beds. When we return we will stay at the same hotel. A room with a view of the llamas. We used the outside hot tub that was clean and very nice. Loved the Ponderosa Pines.

18/10/2016

Spacious room, no elevator, a herd of resident Llamas you can visit, huge grassy area loaded with trees outside the rooms. We didn't eat the Continental Breakfast but it looked about average. Saw some squirrels, but supposedly there are deer that roam through the grounds regularly.

Ponderosa38103, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Ponderosa Lodge, responded to this review
Dear Kaaren S - Thank you for your pleasant note about the Llamas and your description of our facilities and services on which you commented as well. I believe you and I spoke by phone too and I enjoyed our chat and the opportunity to correct a billing item that you noted. As for the deer....they were here today so I wish you could have seen them...2 does with their year-old fawns. The bucks are staying away and hiding for now, since it is hunting season. We hope you can come visit again in the future and maybe the deer will be more cooperative and not so shy! Travel safely!Loy Helmly & Staff

"Spacious and Quiet"

15/10/2016

Pleasantly surprised with the quality of our room. Two queen beds yet the room still seemed quite spacious. First floor rooms have a sliding glass door that opens directly onto the beautiful grounds. Since we were on the first floor we heard a bit of noise from the guests overhead, but overall the area is very quiet and peaceful. We really appreciated the room having TWO sinks - one in the bathroom with the toilet and bath, and another outside the bathroom. Makes for much less congestion when you are three in a room.

Ponderosa38103, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Ponderosa Lodge, responded to this review
Dear saudisandy - We always enjoy hearing that we have "pleasantly surprised" someone when they visit. Traveling and finding good accommodations can be a challenge at times and we try hard to meet or exceed our guests' expectations and it's always fun to know we've succeeded. Thanks also for letting other travelers know about our facilities and services so they might stay with us as well. Travel safely wherever you may go and come see us again! A great addition to breakfast - fruit salad, not only that one of the best BW breakfasts in the state. Clean, comfortable and well located, what more could you ask? Well there are the staff who are cheerful and efficient and from the moment you arrive it feels homely. Highly recommend this as a place to stay and we shall certainly book again on our next visit to Oregon. Many thanks to y'all.

Dear GibBob - Thank you so much for the review and cute note about the fruit salad (or fruit cup...as we call it). We try and have a variety of offerings for our guests at breakfast and we're glad to know you think it is one of the best breakfasts you've experienced at Best Western properties in Oregon. Thanks also for commenting on the cleanliness of our rooms as well as our friendly staff. It's nice to know you'll visit us again when you are in the area and we hope that will be soon! 2 people, 2 Q, 2 nights. Property next to national forest, tall ponderosa trees, llamas onsite, pine lodge exterior. Comfortable beds, room for table/chairs, leather lounge chair. Micro, mini fridge. Upper floor has balconies with slider. Outdoor heated pool, hot tub. Outdoor picnic tables with umbrellas. Breakfast is self serve with many options: pastries, yogurt, fruit, breakfast burrito, cheese omelette, waffles. Motel style with doors facing parking lots, not sure if there is an elevator for upper floor. Across highway is a grocery store, drive to downtown Sisters takes 2 min. Will stay again. 2 women traveling, felt safe and welcoming.

This is one of the best motels I have ever stayed in. The staff is very friendly and helpful, The room was clean and the beds are the best ever for a person with back problems. They have a very nice buffet breakfast. The motel setting is very pretty. Tall pine trees all around, grassy areas, pool hot tub and resident llamas they let you feed. We really enjoyed our stay.

"Sprawling property adjacent to the forest"

01/10/2016

This is a large dog friendly property adjacent to miles of forest trails. The room was very comfortable and clean, large, with a sliding glass door open to a grassy pasture. There are llamas on the property which add to the country charm of this sprawling lodge. Close to the artsy town of Sisters, I would definitely stay here again.

Ponderosa38103, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Ponderosa Lodge, responded to this review
Dear ESanDiego - Thank you for your notes and it's great to know that you would stay with us again when you visit Sisters. Our setting is very enjoyable surrounded by the Ponderosa pines and our large lawn areas. Though we have 75 rooms and suites, only 12 are dog friendly rooms and they are often requested so we appreciate you alerting other travelers to the need for calling ahead to assure a pet room. We'll see you next time you come visit. Cheers! Loy Helmly & Staff

The beautifully maintained grounds make this a relaxing spot for your morning coffee or evening wine. Take time to watch the llamas and/or listen to the owls. The rooms are clean and the staff is helpful. Our favorite motel in Central Oregon.

"Big difference in rooms---choose second floor"

5
30/09/2016

We loved our stay here, but would not have been happy in a ground floor room. The second floor rooms have high cathedral ceilings, which make the large rooms seem very spacious. Downstairs, the rooms we peeked in after checkout looked dark and claustrophobic; no more than a run-of-the-mill motel room. Upstairs you also have a large, private balcony. Downstairs are patios with much less privacy. This is a huge complex situated on more than 13 acres. Unfortunately, the extremely busy highway goes non-stop all day, marring the peaceful beauty of the grounds and pool area. At night, with our sliding door open, the traffic did not bother us, but I wouldn't want a room in the front half of the building closest to the traffic! Breakfast was plentiful, but in a tiny room much too small for all those units. The quantity and variety was good, but we found everything but the waffles oddly tasteless. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. A very well-run property. Given the selection of options in Sisters, this is probably by far the best value ---but book early. It was filled, even in late September

Ponderosa38103, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Ponderosa Lodge, responded to this review
Hello Worldtrekkies - We enjoyed reading the notes you provided and your suggestions for guests for room selections and locations within the property. As you noted, the second floor Lodgepole rooms "feel" more spacious but the first floor rooms can be more desirable for someone with mobility issues (we have stairs, no elevator) and we keep a few pet friendly rooms on the first floor for easy access as well. On your next visit, you might want to try our suites which are even more spacious and luxurious and provide an even better lodging experience here! Travel safely and we hope you can visit again soon. 29/09/2016

We had the Aspen Suite and it was so beautiful. The decorations are outstanding, the bed, the quilt the furniture was all just unbelievably decorative. The layout of the room was fantastic. The Llama pen is a nice little add to the place. Sisters, itself it a really nice cute little town. The check in was very easy, the staff was very accommodating. My husband wanted to wash the truck after the long drive through some rain and they set up a little station for him outside the room. The breakfast was very nice. I would stay here again if ever in the area.

Ponderosa38103, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Ponderosa Lodge, responded to this review
Dear dkroberson - Here's a big "Howdy" and how nice of "you all" to leave such a glowing report! We remember your visit and the need to clean up the truck after the rain. We also do that occasionally for our Harley Davidson riders so we know how people like to keep their rigs clean! We're glad also that the town of Sisters plus our facilities and services exceeded your expectations and....even our Llamas cooperated! Please stop in and visit us again when you are traveling this way! All the best, Loy Helmly & Staff

"Great location and facility but . . ."

3
29/09/2016

The location is terrific, the room is large and nicely decorated, the bed is comfortable . The problem is the exceptionally noisy heating unit that prevented sleep when it kicked on, not only the unit in our room, but noise from the nest room's unit. Room lighting is also very poor. Breakfast offerings are substandard when compared to other average BW's.

Ponderosa38103, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Ponderosa Lodge, responded to this review
Hello Ralph A - I have responded to your comments already on the Best Western Medallia system but I did want to acknowledge your comments here too. We're glad to hear that, although some elements were not to your liking, there were other elements that seemed to fit your needs better. If you get a chance to return, you might want to try one of our suites, which are more spacious and comfortable. Until then, we wish you safe travels! Loy Helmly & Staff.

This Best Western has a wonderful location with a beautiful setting. We thoroughly enjoyed the outdoor pool and hot tub area, as well as watching the llamas. The room was very comfortable and we particularly liked having two sink areas.

Ponderosa38103, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Ponderosa Lodge, responded to this review
Dear Denning J - Thank you for taking the time to send us a note about your recent visit. We're glad to hear that all went well during your stay. The weather has been just perfect for Fall, with warm days and cool nights, so I'm sure the outdoor pool area was just to your liking. We're also happy to hear that you enjoyed the extra sink and vanity area outside the bathroom (which has it's own sink and vanity) which all of our Lodgepole rooms have. That set up has been very popular and allows multiple guests in the same room to have access for their personal needs. It's just a good design that some other properties may not have. We'll hope you can plan to visit us again soon! Best regards, Loy Helmly & Staff

Six of us stayed for a little reunion and the accommodations were once again clean, comfy, peaceful and close to nature. We enjoy visiting the llamas and seems nightly we see deer. The rooms are spacious and we always select a second floor room for the vaulted ceilings and deck. The value is very good plus an adequate breakfast is included. Easy walk to Fabulous shopping, galleries and restaurants.

From the greeting at the front desk to the amenities in the room, we had a lovely experience. The decor was appropriate, the bed was nicely made and very comfy! The environment was peaceful and inviting. We with the hot tub had been a tad hotter, but overall, we were happy there WAS one! Would recommend room 124!

Ponderosa38103, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Ponderosa Lodge, responded to this review
Hello Rebecca L ! Thank you for referring other travelers to us with your wonderful compliments for our staff and facilities. We saw your note about the outdoor hot tub and we do try to keep it at 102 degrees, to meet the needs of most guests. With the pool and hot tub surrounded by the stately Ponderosa pines and our lush lawn areas, many of our guests enjoy that area for relaxation. We are blessed with our beautiful natural setting for the property, especially during the fall. The leaves are just starting to change colors due to the warm days and cool nights. It won't be long until we have a little frost and another month until snow! We hope you can come visit us again this winter! Cheers! Loy Helmly & Staff

19/09/2016

This Best Western is set back off the road and pasture with Llamas buffer the view. Giving a lovely country feel to the lodge style property. The buildings are two stories and access to the second floor is via outdoor stairs. The room doors are accessed from the outdoor corridor. Each room has a sliding door and seating on the veranda or deck with chairs to enjoy the view of the lush lawn and pool area. Breakfast is done in the BW style and features delicious coffee, tea and juice. The breakfast burritos are delicious and a nice surprise. Parking spaces are generous and property has room for large vehicles but is not a pull through. You will need to back around those large rigs. Be cautious as you pull back out to the main road. They sure need a stop light!

Our Model A Ford club stayed here on their past president's tour. The hotel is in a great location for touring the entire area around Sisters. It is also well located for shopping and dining in Sisters. The pet llamas offer a bit of country charm.

Dear PennyMax - We were glad to know you enjoyed your recent stay with us. The description you made of our setting and services was wonderful and will be helpful for others to read. As you noted, we are VERY busy in Central Oregon in the summer so future guests would need to take that into account for their intended stays...by planning ahead to assure availability and then being ready to "rub shoulders with the masses" as well. Now that the late fall season is underway, each day is a little slower but business does continue well into late October. After that time, there are plenty of dates where one can enjoy peace and quiet. So, come again soon and we'll look forward to your visit! Loy Helmly & Staff

A walk across their expansive lawn and you can chat with the resident llamas (retired). Great hotel. Have stayed here more than once. They do a great job. Very clean, quiet, ground floor room have sliding glass doors where you can walk out and across the lawn to a nice pool and hot tub. Smoking only allowed in small designated area which patrons don't always abide by. If you need an affordable restful place to stay where you can relax in a hot tub before sliding into a comfortable bed. Pet friendly as well. This place is for you.

"Great Setting"

09/09/2016

Sisters is a tourist town. The Ponderosa Lodge is just far enough out of town, setback off the main highway, to add the feel of the woods. The hotel is fairly old, but has been maintained well, clean rooms and friendly staff. Normal sized room with 2 queens, fridge, microwave and what I appreciate with two of us traveling, a sink outside the bathroom door. The view outside the sliding glass door is of lama grazing in a lightly wooded area.

Ponderosa38103, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Ponderosa Lodge, responded to this review
Hi Linda D - Thanks for your notes after your visit this week. It was so nice of you to take the time to record your thoughts for other travelers to review. We appreciate the note that although our 2 main buildings are older (1984 & 1986) with 48 of our standard rooms, they are well maintained and clean. Our 3rd, newer building (2004) is where our suites are located and these 28 rooms all have great Old Hickory furnishings, original artwork, western and outdoor themed décor, double Jacuzzi bathtubs, walk-in rain showers and more amenities that really provide a more luxurious respite for travelers. We hope you will opt for one of the suites on your next visit, so you can enjoy them as well! Travel safely and we'll hope to see you again soon! Loy Helmly & Staff

We have stayed here in the past while our kids were at Suttle Lake camp, and love the property. We love the suite even more! The tub, fireplace, and bed are all first class, as well as the pool and hot tub---they were warm enough to use even on this fall-like weekend!

Dear specialteacher - We're glad you were able to come visit this fall, just prior to the beginning of the school year. We're happy that you found the time for refreshing and preparation for the new year and it's great to know you stay with us when you are in the area for your kids' summer camp. "Camping" in our guest rooms is quite enjoyable for adults, while the kids "rough it" at their own camp. We'll look forward to your visit again next year....or sooner if at all possible. Dear Turkey_Trip2011 - We have had many guests stay with us this summer while mountain biking or road touring through Central Oregon. It's nice to know that you enjoyed your visit as well. We are on one of the "Scenic Bikeways" that the State of Oregon has been promoting and that recommendation has been a real magnet for cyclists. Thanks also for noting the positive elements of your stay for other guests to review....let's hope they get a chance to travel here and see all the great things available for recreation in our area. Best wishes to you and yours! Loy Helmly & Staff

We always enjoyed our stays here in Sisters, Oregon. The location, accommodations, staffs, and the pet Llamas are all wonderful! The forest surrounding the hotel provides refreshing ways to relax and a great place to walk the dog. Pets are very welcome here with a small fees. The hotel's log exterior is charming!

06/09/2016

I was beyond pleased when I drove into the property. It's a beautiful setting (although next to a highway) with trees, well-kept lawns, a pool and hot tub. Our room was on the ground floor and we could walk out the back door across the lawn to the pool. Fantastic and speedy internet connection The room was exceptional comfortable in every way. The staff was helpful and friendly - (The near-by llamas could learn a thing or two!) The only problem I had with this place was that I only spent one night.

Dear Cherdud - Thank you, thank you for your compliments about your stay! We were pleased to have you stay with us and it's great to know that you enjoyed our facilities and services! We'll have a chat with those Llamas, to be sure they are more hospitable on your next visit! They definitely have a mind of their own but our guests all enjoy them so much! Maybe they'll have better manners for your next stay? Until then, take care and travel safely! Loy Helmly & Staff

"Nicest BW ever stayed in"

06/09/2016

Almost afraid to praise Ponderosa too much. They will be booked up and we won't be able to get a room! This is the nicest BW we have ever stayed in. The facility is beautiful, well cared for. Enjoyed walking around Sister's during the day and sitting on the balcony looking out at the grounds. Will definitely be back. The Ponderosa has set the bar high for all other BW's!

Dear Sandra S - Thanks for taking the time to make such nice compliments about your recent stay! We're happy to know that you found so many things to your liking while you were here. As we've mentioned to other guests, tourism in our community has grown noticeably this year, no doubt due to lower gas prices for travelers, but also to our popularity with our guests. We feel fortunate to be doing well and we appreciate our guests like you it makes our work so enjoyable. We'll hope to see you again soon! Loy Helmly & Staff

The people upstairs work us up at 1130 pm they were very loud and stomping across floor. when we told the front desk they didn't seem to care.. we put out our sign to clean our room t 900 am and at 330 pm still no clean room , we had to call the fromt desk to get our room cleaned, and that was another hour wait. to really spoil our trip the people parked next to us hit our car. normally this is a great place to stay.

This is very nice lodging with outstanding rooms and a great staff. The location at the edge of Sisters, Oregon is quiet and peaceful, but still just a pleasant 10 minute walk to the quaint downtown. My wife and I do quite a bit of travel by auto, and this is our favorite overnight stay. We recommend it to anyone.

29/08/2016

All in all we really liked this hotel – in appearance it seemed to have more about it than a cookie cutter hotel, the rooms are attractively presented and the setting with pool among the trees is really lovely. The llamas are an added attraction, though they wouldn't come over and interact with us. We were just disappointed by the rather plasticky breakfast and went into town on days 2 and 3 of our stay.

Ponderosa38103, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Ponderosa Lodge, responded to this review
Dear HertfordRoadRunners - Thank you for noting that you enjoyed your stay with us recently. We're glad that our rooms and the hotel setting were to your liking as well. As for the Llamas, you may not know but they are very independent critters and not apt to be warm and snuggly...it's just part of their nature to be a little standoff-ish. We're sorry that you did not enjoy our breakfast offerings, but we're glad you were able to find something more to your liking in town. Here's hoping the rest of your trip went well and that you'll be able to return again at another time! Loy Helmly & Staff

"Nice Stay at the Best Western in Sisters - with some customer service glitches"

3
26/08/2016

Overall, my stay was good to very good. I had a very nice king size room with a couch. The bed is super comfortable and I was able to sleep well each night. The room had a microwave, refrigerator, nice table, and was large. The bathroom had two sinks. The shower had some issues with the flow, but overall, very nice room. The balcony was also nice and I could see the llamas and swimming pool area from my balcony. I enjoyed watching the llamas be fed. The breakfast in the morning was OK Best Western with some tasty burritos. The setting is pleasant. I liked the pine trees. I liked seeing the chipmunks. It was a relaxing stay for the most part. However, it became more of an average stay due to some customer service glitches, I did not expect though to be told to bring my own cable TV repair manual. When I turned on my TV, it had an error message which I tried to resolve and when I could not I called the front office. I figure they know more about their local cable network than I do and perhaps it was just a local outage since Sisters is in a rural community. The first time I called the phone was not answered. The second time I talked to the night staff. I told him about the problem and he gave me the standard questions like did you turn the TV on; did you try another channel; etc. I said yes. I told him the error message and he said - Well, I never had that problem on my home cable so you will need to fix it. At which point, I mentioned I was a guest. So I took a picture of the error message, took it to the office. He read it, looked at me with a blank stare, and wondered why I would do that. Well, I pushed him a bit more on this and he finally after a few minutes of telling him I am a guest, he did do some work to try to resolve the issue. Basically though no cable TV for me. So I turned on Jimmy Buffet music and worked on my trip advisor reviews. It was a fun night in paradise and opened the doors and let the nice night air in. I stayed two nights and happy I chose the first night now to go to the local movies. Also, don't try to go to the breakfast at 9:45 am when the hours say until 10:00 a.m. They are already sweeping up the room; and were somewhat shocked I would show up 15 minutes before they closed. So - if you do not have a cable TV issue and you do get there sooner for breakfast, it is a very nice stay. Next time, I will just bring more music with me and dine in town if I decide to eat breakfast 15 minutes before the breakfast room closes. I am a Diamond Best Western Member and in terms of customer service, its on the very low side. The person who checked me in was fine and helpful so I have given it not the lowest rating.

"Much better in the past"

25/08/2016

This once was a much better place. It is suffering from too many visitors and superficial upkeep. Deep cleaning is definitely needed. Couch had food drums on it when we checked in. Doorknobs were sticky from years of use and little cleaning. Wipes we used to clean them were black from grime.

"Relaxing place to stay in Sisters"

24/08/2016

We chose the Ponderosa lodge because they were not as expensive as the other hotels in Bend or Sisters and we are glad we did. The room was big, comfortable, clean and well appointed. Check in was quick and the staff was friendly. We liked the fact that the hotel was secluded but was within walking distance to Sisters and all of its shops and restaurants. The pool and Jacuzzi were clean with and abundance of chairs and tables to use. Usually when breakfast is included we find that it is usually a choice of stale muffins and juice or coffee but not here. They had a very good variety of food to choose from and it was great way to start the day. We will definitely make the Ponderosa Lodge out go to place in Central Oregon.

23/08/2016

This motel was wonderful, comfortable, and beautiful. Enjoyed the outside pool and hot tub with the HUGE lawn and pool recliners. The llamas were fun to watch from the pool or hot tub. The breakfast gave a variety for the kids and myself, the kids like the two different sized waffle makers. I enjoyed the clean, quiet rooms, the beautiful tall pine trees, and the staff. The motel was close to town and our square dance event.

Sisters, Oregon has a number of good places to stay, but this is our favorite. Pet friendly with beautiful large grassy areas and all rooms with small patios or balconies where you can sit and enjoy the cool Central Oregon evenings and/or mornings. The llamas are an added bonus. The service is always good, the rooms are always clean, and the breakfasts are an added bonus.

21/08/2016

If you are near Sisters, choose it over nearby areas. This motel follows the Western motif of the town, with its use of lodge poles, selection of pictures, etc. It is in a lovely setting with lots of green grass, trees, and llamas. I felt relaxed the moment I got to my room. In addition, the town is fun to explore, really walkable.

"Get away from it all..."

5
18/08/2016

The Ponderosa Lodge has to be one of my favourite places to stay, not just because it's in the wonderful Deschutes National Forest but because the lodge itself offers visitors a wonderful, extremely Very comfortable and relaxing space to get away and really enjoy the surroundings. Beautifully crafted out of ponderosa pine, the rooms are very tastefully decorated to fit the location. Amazingly comfortable and vastly oversized beds, with the King Suites offering a Jacuzzi Bath, walk in rainfall shower sitting area in addition to a microwave, large Fridge and a Kuerig coffee machine (Pods)... Set in picturesque grounds the resident llamas are amusing, and the bird feeding area is a joy as you watch woodpeckers, flickers, nuthatches and chickadees share the food from the feeders that are kept full by the lodge staff... During August the Chipmunks were everywhere and wonderful to watch as they scampered up and down the fence. I digress... Parking is literally outside your door and all rooms either have a ground floor patio facing the large garden, swimming pool and spa or on the second floors large balcony with furniture! Each of the rooms are private and you rarely hear a peep from another guest! The lodge is just off the main highway which is always very busy but as soon as you're on the property you don't even notice it. Across the street is a large market for groceries and pretty much anything else you may need, there are also a selection of other small eateries, a MacDonalds and a gas station... If you travel a little further down the across the road (behind the BiMart) you get a magnificent view of the Sisters and equally a few blocks walk from the lodge you're on the Main Street in Sisters which is a quaint town that caters well for visitors - with a great selection of restaurants, cafes and coffee shops - if you walk down the streets a way you should seek out Bedouin which is badged as a ladies fasion store but the cafe on the side makes the most amazing Coffee, Banana Bread and oatmeal and mixed nut cookies - you will not be disappointed. The artwork in the store is equally amazing! The cookies btw kept us going on our hike around Three Creek Lakes trail which is only a few miles north and a few thousand feet above Sisters (a beautiful place to visit and amazing views on the way up and back down at 6500ft elevation). Additionally there are hundreds of other places to see and visit all within a short drive of the lodge. The only disappointing thing about the lodge is the breakfast and to be honest I'm not there for the lodges amazing food, I'm there for the ambiance, the environment and the amazing rooms and atmosphere of the lodge - it's peaceful in a peaceful setting. Staff are amazing and very friendly and helpful... tip, if want luxury, opt for the larger of the King Suites ...AMAZING... You will not be disappointed).

"Better Room is Significantly Nicer"

17/08/2016

This was our second stay at the Ponderosa Lodge in Sisters, Oregon. Our first stay was in a 2Q and we were pleased. This time we stayed in one of the better rooms, in the building with such suites. We enjoyed the extra space (650 sq ft), the gas fireplace, the jacuzzi tub with warm robes, the walk-in (no door) shower, and the Keurig coffee maker. The suite cost $40 more and that difference I think is a good value. Particularly if we were to stay here several days the extra comfort would be much appreciated. Breakfast was somewhat different from other Best Western locations. No scrambled eggs. But hardboiled eggs and really good biscuits and gravy. They also had cereals, waffles, fruit, as typical, and which I did not have except the nice tasty banana.

Ponderosa38103, Owner at BEST WESTERN Ponderosa Lodge, responded to this review
Dear Jeff B - We're happy to hear that you enjoyed your second visit with us, especially with the relaxing stay in the suites. I stayed at the Best Western Ponderosa Lodge on the western edge of Sisters, Oregon, just this past weekend. It's definitely a cut above, with log beams in the ceilings, gorgeous big ponderosa trees and green lawns, plus resident llamas with feed for them! The rooms are spacious, comfortable, clean, and well appointed. The "Chuck Wagon" breakfast is included and is quite a spread! The staff is also a cut above, friendly, professional, and courteous. Clean, quiet, comfortable! In addition to our room, Mom stayed in an Accessible Room. It met her every need! Close enough to town to enjoy the shopping, yet just a bit out to be a property that has lots of land so that you can sit outside and enjoy the summer evening! An added bonus are the deer (we saw about a dozen-bucks, does, and fawns) that come out in the evening. Peaceful and serene!

Second time here with a large group. Rooms are large and clean. Staff is great. Pool and hot tub are large and water was always clean and warm. Provided breakfast was OK. Only complaint was there was only one microwave available for pre made omelets and burritos. A grocery and restaurant is across the street. Downtown Sisters is a short drive away. Would recommend reservations.

We love our annual stay here. Rooms are clean, quiet, and spacious. The pool wonderful, as well as the hot tub. The grass around the motel is luxuriously green and lush ... perfect for picnicking with families or large groups on tables with umbrellas. Gas is a block away. Grocery across the road, and downtown Sisters is just up the road a few blocks. We love every moment of our stay!!

Enjoyed this BW as a home base to explore the area. Able to bike around the area on roads with not a lot of traffic. Walking distance to anywhere in Sisters and only 20-30 miles from places such as Smith Rock State Park, Bend and even SunRiver. I would stay again. Only negative was the news program played each morning wasn't what I would have chosen..... :o

Came to Sisters by chance , booked into Ponderosa for three nights loved it so much stayed another three. Lovely location, big rooms, hard working friendly staff. Very relaxing place to stay in walking distance of the town. Certainly intend to come back again.

My wife and I are staying here for two nights and I wish we could stay more. The hotel is a little out of town and set back off highway 20 in the woods so it is very quiet and peaceful. The rooms are spacious with a microwave and refrigerator. This is probably the best Best Western we have staid at.

Ponderosa38103, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Ponderosa Lodge, responded to this review

"Wonderful stay in Sisters, OR"

21/07/2016

I was hiking the Sahalie Falls trail and asking folks for lodging recommendations in Sisters. Two of the three people I spoke with recommended the Ponderosa. Cell phone connection on Hwy 20 in the Pass is almost non existent so after a funny attempt at a conversation Doug said he'd hold a room for me since I was on the way there. Since the town was quite full I felt very fortunate. My double queen room was on the second floor. Spacious, with a nice balcony. It was very comfortable. The hot tub was not working but the pool was warm and welcome after a day of hiking. Breakfast is included and offers more than the typical offerings. I was happy to see almond milk along with the dairy milks. I was able to get a room for the second night and will stay a third if I can. The town of Sisters is charming and the Ponderosa a perfect spot for me. If one is available ask for a suite. Fireplace, jet tub, fancier amenities. View includes the resident herd of Llamas.

Ponderosa38103, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Ponderosa Lodge, responded to this review
Dear Farrell P - What nice comments you have left for us....we certainly appreciate all of them. Doug, and other members of our night staff at the Front Desk, try very hard to help travelers with last minute reservations. It has been such a busy summer this year and we can't always help with last minute reservations but when we can, we are happy to do so. It's also nice to know that our location, facilities, services and breakfast were all to your liking as well. Our suites, though a little more expensive than our standard rooms, are a luxurious alternative for guests who wish to have those extra amenities. We hope you will come stay with us again the next time you are in the area! Loy Helmly & Staff

The Best Western Ponderosa Lodge in Sisters Oregon is a great place to stay. It is a very clean and comfortable and the staff is friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious and the balcony was an added delight. The breakfast options were more plentiful than most places and the food was fresh and presented well. I would recommend this hotel for couples, families, or a girls weekend!

"Basic Lodge Hotel"

4
19/07/2016

This hotel offers the basic stay you would expect from Best Western. It is at the edge of town within walking distance from area shops and restaurants. I personally think it was a little spendy for a Monday night stay - $134.99 plus tax. Overall it was a nice experience.

Ponderosa38103, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Ponderosa Lodge, responded to this review
Dear rcbehappy: Thank you for your comments and information for other travelers, left after your recent stay here in Sisters. It looks like our facilities and services met your needs while you were here and we're glad to know that. We're sorry you felt our prices might be "a little spendy " but we assure you they are right in line with other properties of our caliber in our location during this summer time of high demand. Central Oregon is a prime destination for travelers in the months of July and August and we all price our guest rooms competitively. We do offer lower rates in the winter, November - March, so perhaps that may offer more attractive pricing if you are in the area. We hope you'll visit us again in the future. Best regards, Loy Helmly & Staff

"Will Return!"

17/07/2016

I was told that this place was renovated a few years ago. They did a good job. It's very clean, accessible to town on foot, beautiful grounds and good value for the money. The only negative was the just OK typical hotel breakfast with really bad coffee. Even so, I will stay here again because everything else was great!

Ponderosa38103, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Ponderosa Lodge, responded to this review
Dear ch1225 - Thank you for your notes about your recent stay. We're glad to know that you enjoyed your visit with us and felt our property was a good value and we appreciate you recommending us to other travelers. We're sorry to hear that you did not enjoy the breakfast offerings or the coffee. Normally we get good scores on the breakfast with bake your own waffles, biscuits & gravy, sausage & egg burritos, omelettes with cheddar cheese, various cereals, muffins, bagels, yogurt with toppings, fresh fruit, etc. The coffee is from a local source here in Central Oregon but we understand how coffee can be an individual preference with all the specialty coffee companies nowadays. We're glad to hear that you'll visit us again in the future and we'll look forward to your return visit. Best regards, Loy Helmly & Staff

05/07/2016

The Ponderosa was a great value for the area and the large spacious rooms. No minimum number of rooms nights. Very quiet - we never heard the neighbors even though the place was full up. Will definitely stay here again. Bring your own pillows though.

Dear Scott E - Thank you for your comments left after your recent visit. It's nice to know that you enjoyed your time in Sisters and here at the Ponderosa Lodge. It was a very busy weekend while you were here just prior to the 4th of July yet I'm glad you found our rooms to be restful. When we have some of our larger groups stay with us it can get a little rowdy at time so we can't always guarantee peace and quiet but we try! We hope you can come visit us again sometime! "Love the Ponderosa Lodge!"

30/06/2016

My husband and I love Best Western Ponderosa Lodge. This is our second stay, and this time we stayed 3 weeknights before July 4th weekend. We both love the simple log pine furnishings, vaulted ceiling and western decor. Also, like that there is an additional vanity sink outside the main bathroom. The beds are very comfortable and at night we couldn't hear noise from the pool or highway. (I would recommend that people who have a hard time carrying their luggage upstairs get a 1st floor room because there aren't any elevators). All rooms overlook the pool located on a large lawned property with Ponderosas. It doesn't feel like a chain hotel with the wagon train display and llama farm outside. The air smells fresh like pine and sage and very tame deer wander up to the property. The service is excellent and the staff are very upbeat and friendly. The continental breakfast is substantial with many choices, yet "not amazing." Main dishes like omelets and breakfast burritos are refrigerated and must be microwaved. I had hard boiled eggs, regular oatmeal, banana, OJ, low calorie yorgurt, and toast. It's free and did hold me over until lunch, but I've had better breakfasts at other chain hotels. It's excellent value for the price.

We stayed in a one bedroom suite that was everything you wanted in a beautiful room decorated just right. The Jazzuzi tub and plush bathrobes make you relax your cares away. This was a very enjoyable place the stay. The location is beautiful, and just off the outskirts of town. The staff were very helpful in answering questions about the town, dining, et al. The room was very large and comfortable, along with great WiFi service. And if that were not enough, there were Llamas on site the check out. All of them being rescued animals that the owners now take care of. If I am ever in Sisters Oregon again, I know where I am going to stay!!!

19/06/2016

I was expecting the usual for a Best Western but this particular lodge was extremely nice. The room was huge, the bed comfortable and it was very quiet considering it is located just off the main highway into Sisters. We had an easy time booking our room online and the staff was very friendly. The breakfast room does get crowded and it offers the usual items. Not a great breakfast but not bad either. There is a large grassy area and a pool so plenty of room for kids to run and swim. We will stay at this property again.

Ponderosa38103, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Ponderosa Lodge, responded to this review
Dear Oregontraveler477 - Thanks so much for your comments that you found your stay "extremely nice". We're glad to hear that we exceeded your expectations by not being the "usual" for a Best Western. It is true that our location among the towering Ponderosa pines, with spacious lawn area and outdoor pool and hot tub are just great for traveling families. We also appreciated hearing that you found our staff friendly and your room was to your liking. That is great news. Please come see us again soon! Loy Helmly and staff

"Reservations are NOT Accurate"

3
02/06/2016

Although we loved the hotel, our reservations that were made months ahead of time were not honored. On our day of Check-In, another guest who made a reservation also did not receive a room. Do NOT stay at this hotel is you rely upon reservations.

Ponderosa38103, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Ponderosa Lodge, responded to this review
Dear Heidi S - I'm sorry to read your review with your concern that we do not accurately record reservations for our hotel. I also read your comments in the Best Western Medallia Guest Response System and replied to you in more detail there. As a quick recap here on TripAdvisor, we had your reservation for only 1 room through the Best Western Central Reservations System. Your visit was over the busy Memorial Day Weekend. Our staff was able to find a second room for you on your second night's stay, so we did assist you as best we could. We do apologize for the inconvenience you experienced, but we do not feel it was due to our error here at the Ponderosa Lodge. The other guest whom you noted, arrived a day earlier than their reservation stated. They used our guest computer near the front desk and found that the error was their mistake. We were able to place them in a standard room for their early arrival, and they then moved to their planned suite room on the next day. We appreciate the opportunity to respond to your concerns and present our side of the issue for other travelers to review. Loy Helmly & Staff

The only down side to this property is the breakfast. Fortunately The Gallery in town has great breakfast. The hot tub is one of the better ones. It is secluded but has easy access to highway. We like the suites rooms 130's.

Ponderosa38103, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Ponderosa Lodge, responded to this review
Dear Larry E - Thank you for your notes left after your recent visit. We're glad to hear that you enjoyed the majority of your stay and, as you noted....the Gallery Restaurant in town is a great spot to have a cooked-to-order breakfast from a full menu. Our breakfast is meant to provide a variety of items (cold cereals, yogurts with condiment bar, fresh fruit, biscuits and gravy, bake-your-own waffles, hard boiled eggs, heat and serve burritos and cheddar cheese omelets, coffee, tea, juice, etc.) but without a kitchen on property, we can't prepare meals to order. Glad you also enjoyed the nice location and we appreciate you recommending our suites to other guests. They have luxury amenities and are a great place for a getaway. We hope you can visit us again in the future! Loy Helmly & Staff

Very helpful and friendly staff. Typical motel. Nothing special/additional. Walking distance to downtown and far enough off highway to be quiet. Clean and presentable. Would stay again. Sisters is not a place where you want to hang out in a motel room.

Dear Michael I - Thank you for your note and we're glad to hear that you would visit us again in the future. From the moment we checked in we were greeted by friendly and knowledgeable staff. Our room was perfect, very clean, fresh linens and large whirlpool tub in the bathroom. We were on the second floor and could watch the sweet llamas from our balcony. The location was perfect -- one minute to downtown Sisters. We enjoyed the buffet breakfast, coffee was good and strong, cheese omelets and biscuits with gravy. I especially loved the mini waffles! It was a little too chilly to try the pool but it looked very inviting. A great place to stay!!

Thanks also for the nice comments about Breakfast as it is such an important part of each person's day. 26/05/2016

The hotel is in a beautiful setting with quick and easy access to downtown Sisters. When we checked in, we were upgraded at no additional charge to a suite that was roomy and exceptionally comfortable. Thanks. The bed was comfortable and the room was quiet. The breakfast was good with a variety of choices, and it was available until 10 AM which we appreciated. We were in the back building, and the internet was a bit slow, but okay for our needs. We will definitely stay here again the next time we are in Sister, Oregon.

Ponderosa38103, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Ponderosa Lodge, responded to this review
Hello DonIdaho! (What a fun name!) We appreciated your review of our facilities and services while you visited last week. I recognized your notes from the Best Western Medallia System as well. We're glad you enjoyed your room on this recent visit. On occasion, we can upgrade to a 2nd floor or suite room, but it isn't always possible due to the arrival and departure patterns of other guests but....as you noted....when it works, it's great! We hope you can come back again soon! Cheers! Loy Helmly & Staff

"Loved the Llamas"

22/05/2016

Excellent location bordering forest lands full of Ponderosa Pine and only 1/4 mile from Sisters. Shopping and dining just across the highway. Handy to the highway but set back far enough that traffic noise isn't an issue. Rustic decorator touches but with all modern conveniences. Large room, very clean. Llamas are a great family attraction. This was my third stay, I wouldn't stay anywhere else when in Sisters.

"Family gathering at its best."

The Ponderosa Lodge was very gracious and helpful to accommodate our large family for a memorial reunion. We spent two nights. The rooms are large, clean and set up for easy coming and going. Spent two nights here for mini getaway with my Husband. It has a beautiful setting among large pine trees, large grassy areas and cute shaggy llamas to watch. The room was immaculate. Love the decor! I would say the Ponderosa Lodge is equally as nice as the Five Pine Lodge in Sisters.

"Two nights at BW Ponderosa - Sisters, OR"

16/05/2016

We stayed two nights here and enjoyed our stay. Room was clean and well-appointed except lighting is not great and staff was exceptionally professional and efficient. Grounds are very nice and the grazing llamas are a nice draw for the guests. Pool and sauna area is clean and well maintained as well as the grounds. Breakfast area is a bit small with harsh acoustics and breakfast offerings are a bit meager, especially if you are looking for hot choices but the area is very well serviced during use. Very pleasant setting and within a short walk to town or other restaurants and a grocer. Very nice hotel.

Ponderosa38103, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Ponderosa Lodge, responded to this review
Dear Timothy M - We appreciated the thorough evaluation you provided after your stay this week. So glad to hear that you found many elements of our locations and facilities met your needs and that you enjoyed our staff. Travel safely and we hope to see you again soon! Loy Helmly & Staff

The small patio of the room and the super quiet area made it perfect for an evening cocktail before dinner in town. I was ill during the stay and the staff could not have been more caring and helpful.

I got the king size bed with jacuzzi tub room. This place is the perfect 10. The decor is rustic with a log cabin feel. There isn't a single thing to complain about. Even the towels were soft unlike every other hotel in the planet. From the bed to the tub to the shower this is where you want to stay. For bikers I came east on hwy 22 it's a low to medium difficulty but it's a super smooth ride at a real easy pace. With all the tree cover I didn't get any big winds at all. This hotel and the whole area I'd give 100%. This has got to be the best best western there is.

Such a great place to stay from the EXCELLENT staff, the rooms, and the scenery. The staff went out of their way to research a sight to explore when I inquired. Even the housekeepers were friendly and accommodating, taking extra care to double inspect each room. The beds were comfortable and the in room Jacuzzi was comfortable and contributed greatly to my comfort and ability to relax during our time away from the kids and hectic life.. The Llamas are a fun attraction and I am looking forward to coming back!

This place is beautiful tucked away in the woods. It was a very large double queen room. Very country. Lots of places to roam around. They even have alpacas to feed if you'd like. All the staff were knowledgeable and courteous.

"Oregon at it's best!"

01/05/2016

Having grown up in Oregon, I've always appreciated the genuinely friendly, down-to-earth way Oregonians greet people. That's on full display at this motel. No, it isn't particularly fancy. There are llamas outside, for heaven sakes, and it's actually a motel complete with parking spots right next to the rooms. My elderly mother (who really appreciated the raised toilet and the lowered bed in her ADA room) and I stayed here for just one night. The rooms were clean, in good shape, and very comfortable. The breakfast was nothing to write home about but decent. What made the place stand out, however, were all the people at the front desk, each of whom was friendly, accommodating, and helpful. It made me glad to be back in Oregon.

Dear kleic: We're so glad to hear that you enjoyed your visit with us during your return visit to Sisters and Oregon in general. This is the second time we have stayed here. The jacuzzi rooms are just fabulous. Great view of Ponderosa pines outside the window, nice deck to sit and watch the trees and Llamas, large clean rooms with fireplace also. Very romantic and relaxing. Amazing area also! Waterfalls, lakes, endless pine trees, etc!

"Beyonhd Expectations"

5
24/04/2016

In planning a road trip to Sisters for a family wedding, I was simply looking for an affordable place for us to "hang our hats" for a couple of nights. Ponderosa Lodge went well beyond that. It started with a call the day before our arrival inquiring about our room preference. I thought that was a nice touch. Check-in was flawless and fast... and our room was crisp, clean, and well appointed. There really is a "lodge" feel to "Ponderosa". The sprawling forested grounds with roaming llamas gives the impression of being out on the range vs. the routine feeling of being smashed in between other motel complexes. I'd read that complimentary breakfast was available, and was expecting the typical cereal/bagel spread. No no no... this complimentary breakfast includes waffles, breakfast burritos, biscuits & gravy and a host of other "outside the box" options. All in, the "Ponderosa Lodge" eclipsed all of my expectations. This is a good one!

"Another wonderful Spring Break stay"

4
15/04/2016

We have stayed here the last two years during Spring Break, taking advantage of a 3rd night free deal (must book directly with the property). We have been very satisfied with this hotel. The hotel is on the western edge of Sisters, across from a small shopping area with a grocery store. Downtown is about a two minute drive or a ten minute walk and a cute area with many different types of shops and places to eat. Bend is about a 25-30 minute drive. The grounds of the Best Western are great, with about 10-15 Llamas in a pen, which you can feed in the morning when food pellets are delivered. There is also a large Jacuzzi (pool is covered in the colder months). We had our dog with us and there is a grass area at the edge of the property with poop bags and trails for walks. At check in, they gave us some dog biscuits and an extra sheet to put over the bedspread so the dog could sit on the bed. The room was clean and included a fridge, microwave, and coffeemaker. While we heard no noise next to us, the sound proofing isn't as good in the ceiling. Both stays we had kids above us, so there was some banging and noise going on. Nothing awful but I would recommend the second floor if you don't mind stairs or aren't traveling with your dog (all pet rooms are on the first floor). A breakfast is included with fruit, cereal, muffins, waffles, etc. Would have loved either sausage or bacon like many other hotels provide but can't complain because it was free. One really nice thing is that they keep the breakfast room open all day, so you can get coffee, tea, hot chocolate, or a snack in the afternoon or evening. The service at the hotel is A+. Everyone is very friendly, from the desk clerks, maids, breakfast workers, etc. Everyone greeted me as I walked by and were happy to help me. This is our hotel choice in Central Oregon and plan on more stays in the future.

Sadly we only had a short stay of sisters in Sister. Stayed at this lovely Best Western. Rooms were immaculate and nice complimentary continental breakfast. Llamas in a paddock within the grounds. On the highway but can't hear the noise. Pool available to travellers in the summer and hot spa available year round. Friendly reception staff - especially arriving at 9pm with no reservation!

My room felt like it must have been separate from where others were staying despite the busy parking lot - I heard nothing from neighbor rooms - no tv noise, talking, etc. I enjoyed the hot tub and view of the llamas, and a nice walk into town - it's a perfect distance from the busy shopping area.

Just needed a quiet place to stay in a relaxing setting. Found it at the Ponderosa Lodge. Very friendly place to stay and within walking distance of town and several eating establishments. The setting is beautiful and we saw several deer on the property. Easy parking and access to the rooms.

My family and I have stayed at this hotel many nights over the past 5 years, and we keep coming back because of the positive experience we have each time. The suites are what we stay in because they're roomy and have a great tub that me, my wife and kids can all enjoy. The Llamas on site are a big attraction for the kids as well. They're friendly and love to be hand fed by all. The staff is always very helpful and accommodating during all our visits too.

We had a really nice stay here. The room was very nicely decorated- western theme befitting the name. The beds were very comfortable, the room was a nice size and it had a balcony hat looked out on the lawn, pool and llama corrals. Very clean. Good breakfast. Will definitely stay here again.

Ponderosa38103, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Ponderosa Lodge, responded to this review
Hi Loretta M - So glad to hear that you enjoyed being here recently and that you enjoyed the décor as well! It's true that our rooms are more spacious than some newer hotels that have cut down on the size of their rooms, and our guests enjoy either a patio or balcony on every room, to experience the forest setting in which we are located....and yet we are also close to town....the best of both worlds. Thanks also for the comments on our breakfast, included with each guest's stay. Just another part of our western style. We hope to see you again soon! Loy Helmly & Staff

We only live 20 min away but needed a night away. We have loved Best Westerns in the past so chose this one with the romance package. The room was amazing! The bed was so comfortable and we loved our jacuzzi tub! The price for what we experienced was unbelievable! The staff was super friendly and helpful about the local hiking in the area! We now can't wait to take our children there for a weekend when the pool is open!

Dear Meredith B - We really enjoy it when people who live nearby come and visit us! We're pleased to know that you enjoyed things here so much that you'll bring your family back for a visit. The pool will open in mid-May for the season, so we'll look for you again after that! We were there overnight. The staff was very friendly and the room was clean and nice. There was a huge garden and we had a balcony, which is a nice little extra. The building was very lovely and charming it would be perfect if the garden was too.

Hello Tim R - Thanks for the kind notes left after your stay last week. We'll be sure to share your comments with our staff and housekeepers as everyone enjoys having a clean room! Our lawn area, which you might have called a garden, is great for kids to play on and generally enjoy during the spring, summer and fall. We don't have a formal garden area due to the elevation where we are located and the "high desert" locale having a short growing season. We sure hope you can come visit us again in the future. Until then, we wish you safe travels. Loy Helmly & Staff

"Great log cabin feel rooms."

I love this hotel. The rooms are large and comfortable with log bed frames. The rooms give you a cabin feel but are modern in the bathrooms. All the rooms seem to have a good view. They serve a decent free breakfast. The only drawback is there is no elevator to the second floor.

"Trip to Sisters, OR for a Wedding @ 3/2016"

08/03/2016

All, I cannot highlight how nice our stay at the Sisters, OR Best Western Ponderosa was in March, 2016. The rooms were nice and rustic, the beds and pillows very comfortable. Continental breakfast was OK but sufficient. Hot tub was great for March and pool was not open yet. They had nice outdoor seating areas in several places. Most importantly, the facility is surrounded by a beautiful forest area. WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS FACILITY FOR YOUR STAY IN SISTERS, OR OR NEARBY!

"Great place to Stay with our Dog"

27/02/2016

We stopped overnight in Sisters on a recent road trip down to Arizona and back. When traveling with our dog, we look for Best Westerns and have never gone wrong. But the Ponderosa in Sisters was the best of the trip---a nice big King room, beautiful grounds, and a warm welcome for our dog. Adjacent to the property is a Forest Service area with trails for walking, which we appreciated after the day's drive. We also walked into town for a look around. I hadn't been tomSisters for 25 years and it seems to have changed quite a bit! But the Ponderosa was such a perfect place to stay I think we will make it a routine stop on our trips south. I highly recommend it,whether you are traveling with or without a pet.

Hello Enzian: Thank you for leaving such a nice note after your recent stay with us! It was great to hear that you enjoyed your visit and our pet-friendly rooms. We also appreciated hearing that the growth and improvement of the Sisters area was to your liking! We hope you'll stop in again on your next visit to our area. Best regards, Loy Helmly & Staff

Visiting ailing parent's is always hard, but the peace and comfort at this hotel helped. The caring staff and excellent cozy facility really transports you to a place of tranquility. "One bed short of excellent"

22/02/2016

Wonderful place to stay in Sisters. Close to skiing, shopping, restaurants. Outstanding breakfast included. Beautiful grounds. Spotless rooms. However, the pull out couch bed in connecting room 202 is a wreck and is useless as a bed. Should have been replaced years ago. I told them that on our last family visit 2 years ago, so I was shocked to find the same dilapidated, misshapen, tattered sprung mess of a "bed" still in the room. The other beds in the connecting rooms are fine. This one item is so far below the high standard of the Ponderosa Lodge and of Best Western in general, I can't understand why it has not been replaced. If you have a large family and would need to use the connecting rooms (202 & 203), don't count on being able to use the pull out bed. It's a wreck! Rent a house at Black Butte instead.

The Ponderosa is a very nice property with a Llama corral. Rooms were large and very nice. Ours had a Jacuzzi tub for two with a panel that opened to the living room area or could be closed off. "Would stay here again. Keys wouldn't work at first."

3
07/01/2016

We had two rooms. At first the keys wouldn't work for one of our rooms and we had to go back to the office twice about that. Which was a drive not an easy walk. One of our rooms was an upgrade room with a jetted tub and a king bed which was nice. The fireplace was cozy although it heated the very large room slowly. The jetted tub was well loved by my teens. The natural shower was nice but with not much insulation I felt chilled. (It was late December). The cozy bathrobes were a nice touch. The bed was comfortable and so were the chairs/sofa. The free wi-fi was nice. There was also a small kitchenette with a coffee maker. I don't drink coffee so I was wishing for some hot chocolate. There is a microwave so bring your own popcorn. There is also a mini-fridge. We also had a regular room with double beds for the rest of our family. It was nice but compact. Average room with a nice view. The breakfast had a lot of options. The kids liked the waffle maker.

Dear MegLoves2Travel - Thank you for your detailed notes regarding your recent stay with us over the holidays. I remember the challenge we had with that one door lock which decided not to be very cooperative! I was the one who assisted you and changed the rooms for the kids, so I'm glad that was satisfactory for them when they were settled in the other room. We're also glad to hear that you enjoyed your suite and the furnishings and amenities there, plus the breakfast offerings included for all our guests. "Favorite Motel May Be Slipping"

3
03/01/2016

We have always loved this motel and recommended it to others, but our last two visits suggest both the staff and the rooms are getting tired. On this visit, the young man at the front desk appeared tired and unsmiling, and the room was in need of several repairs, the major one being the bathroom door wouldn't close completely. If the motel hadn't been full, we might have asked for a different room, but we aren't very pushy people and didn't want to give up any of our time to having someone in our room making repairs. We were also about 5 minutes late checking out (unusual for us), and housekeeping knocked on our door to ask if we were leaving, which seemed a bit unusual. I dislike leaving a negative review for a place that we have enjoyed so much in the past, but may try a new place for our next trip.

Ponderosa38103, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Ponderosa Lodge, responded to this review
Dear Robert A - Thank you so much for your hearty endorsement of the Breakfast which we provide for our guests! The continental breakfast included with the room charge is awesome. Waffles, breakfast burritos and tacos, cereal, biscuits and gravy are just a few of the items offered. my fiance and I visited the Best Western Ponderosa and stayed in the Ponderosa sweet. the room was beautiful and we had a great stay. the one little thing I found wrong was that the microwave had not been cleaned before we arrived. the staff was excellent and very friendly our whole visit. as we were checking out they asked if everything was okay and I mentioned the microwave just so it would be clean for the next people. they apologized and shortly after we left we received an email saying that they had compensated us $20 to apologize for the dirty microwave. we really appreciated that they cared about our feedback and will definitely visit again.

Dear Mr. & Mrs. Sheff: Thank you for your notes about your recent stay and how you enjoyed your visit with us. I was glad to hear that our staff helped you with the one small mishap you experienced while here. Our housekeeping staff is normally right on top of things but when a minor incident occurs, we stand behind our promise to make things right and I'm glad the team at the Front Desk assisted you. We're glad to hear that you will return to visit when your are in the area again. Best wishes. Loy Helmly and staff.

This is a quiet, no frills motel with a helpful staff. The breakfast is good. For 20 years this has been our favorite central Oregon motel. And feeding the llamas is such at treat. We also love seeing the deer that wander around the grounds.

I did not have an easy time finding a decent hotel in Sisters so was very happy to find the Ponderosa Lodge. It was easy to locate and in a beautiful area. The building is only 2 stories so no elevators. The room was clean and quiet but nothing fancy but well priced. They did have AAA prices. They keep llamas on the property but I was unable to get close up because of the snow.

Dear OahuBandMom - We love your "screen name" and we think we remember you from your stop by the front desk. We are so glad that you enjoyed your visit with us recently...including the Llamas. The snowy weather we had was quite a switch from your "Oahu" reference! Like you, many people enjoy the surprise of finding us tucked under the Ponderosa Pine trees at the west end of Sisters. Although your found our standard Lodgepole rooms to your liking, maybe you can try one of our suites one your next visit? We know you'll enjoy the spacious room with upgraded furnishings, gas burning fireplace, double whirlpool bathtub and walk-in rain shower. We hope you will return soon! Best regards, Loy Helmly & Staff

Clean rooms. Great location and breakfast is included. It shows that staff and management care about this hotel and maintain it very well. Rooms were impecably clean and the breakfast was varied and tasty. Great destination if you're staying in Sisters or just passing throuugh.

When it snowed the ponderosa pines, llamas and beautiful grounds seemed to sparkle. With a Jacuzzi, cozy lodge furnishings and a fire going, every night was cozy and comfortable. I love the beds and I am like Goldilocks about beds! In addition, great service. Troy shoveled snow from around my car. Doug always checks me in like an old friend.

This is a really great hotel. The location is fantastic and the service is top notch. I've stayed in everything from local, sketchy no name hotels to five star resorts in Vegas and Hawaii and I don't think I've been treated as well as I have here. We stayed here over Thanksgiving and since I have family in the area, I'm familiar with what Sister has to offer. It's a really great little town and it's close enough to Bend to explore Bend but come back to the quiet and and calm of Sisters. This hotel couldn't be much better. First off, it has so much character. The furniture is all log style and even the lamp shades have a 'wild west' touch! We were on the second floor which had huge vaulted ceilings that was covered in wood slats and really added to the theme/comfort. The room itself was huge with a fridge, microwave, coffee maker and everything else you'd need to stay comfortable. The bed was really, really comfy and everything looked, smelled and was clean. I do have a couple small suggestions to improve this hotel and make it truly top notch. First off, the pillows are small squares instead of regular rectangles which made it a bit difficult to get comfortable. The toilet, at least in our room, was pretty awful. It seemed to use a LOT of water and didn't really...get the job done. The exhaust fan in our bathroom was really noisy and the clock radio/telephone were really old and outdated. It was 0 (or below) while we were visiting which also made me notice the old sliding door and HVAC. While everything worked exactly as intended, some minor updates would make this hotel a top notch, amazing place. Truly, though, I can't recommend this place enough. The llamas on the property were so cute, the location couldn't be beat, it was clean, comfortable and the service was amazing. Thank you for a great stay! Can't wait to be back!

Ponderosa38103, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Ponderosa Lodge, responded to this review
Dear David M - Thank you for such an extensive review of your stay during the Thanksgiving holiday! It was great to see that you enjoyed your accommodations here....even in the extra chilly weather! With the fresh snow and cold temps, it was definitely a winter wonderland outside. Thanks also for the recommendations on ideas to upgrade the amenities for the future (pillows, clock radios, toilets, etc.) We'll keep those in mind going forward, so we can enhance the experience for future guests. We wish you all the best for the holiday season ahead! Loy Helmly & Staff

Comfort in the country. Can walk to town and come back for a dip in the hot tub. Enjoy a glass of wine on the balcony while watching the llamas. (in the summer) Friendly and professional staff. I really appreciated their attention to keeping the breakfast areas stocked and very clean.

We only live 28 miles away but, my husband and I have stayed here in the past for company Christmas party's versus driving home on bad roads, late at night. This time I had arranged for a training, unrelated to my work, to be held in Sisters with people coming from Florida, Michigan, Alaska, Washington and Oregon. We all stayed at the Ponderosa. This was the second year in a row for this group to come to Sisters, Oregon. EVERYONE was impressed with this wonderful hotel. Two of the attendees had been here in the past. The other 8 had not. Everyone was very pleasantly surprised. Ponderosa had friendly staff from check-in to maid service. Excellent. I never have had the opportunity to personally enjoy the breakfast, but everyone was very happy with it. The coffee was great! The rooms are quiet. We were in a downstairs room, and although there was someone above us, it was not disruptively noisy at all. The rooms are well off the highway. Never highway noise. Each room we have been in has been very comfortable. Out of the 5 separate stays in 5 separate rooms, we have had a comfortable, spacious room. Beautiful pine furniture. Coffee maker, fridge, microwave. A table with two chairs that we can sit at to play cards. A nice leather chair to sit back and read, looking over the lawn area, which then leads to the pool and the llamas!!!!!! Yes, there are llamas. There is National Forest surrounding two sides of the hotel.

We stayed here on a whim. The location is nice and quiet, located in the tall pines, with LLamas in front of the hotel. We had to drive to eat, but it was right off the main road so easy access on our way through SIsters.

The Ponderosa Lodge in Sisters is a beautiful place to stay just north of town where you can make an early start cycling on the many single track mountain bike trails that Oregon has to offer. The staff and hotel are VERY bike friendly with a pool and hot tube to soak in after your ride!!

Ponderosa38103, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Ponderosa Lodge, responded to this review
Dear Timothy L - So glad to hear that you enjoyed the mountain biking in our area during your recent stay. We do have hundreds of miles of trails in the Central Oregon area for all ranges of skill. We also see a lot of touring cyclists on the roads, so we seem to have the best of both worlds for cyclists. Thanks also for your nice compliments of our staff a facilities...we'll be sure to share that with our team for encouragement. We hope you visit us again soon! Loy Helmly & Staff

Beautiful setting. Very quite. Rustic decor. Complete with 8 llamas and several Contestoga wagons. Large, well appointed rooms. Sisters is a western motif town and so is this property. We will stay here again in the future.

Dear Grant T - It was nice to hear that you enjoyed our "western hospitality" here at the Ponderosa Lodge and in our western-themed town of Sisters. The Ponderosa Lodge was beyond what we expected...I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys peace & quiet and being up close with nature. 5 deer were roaming around in the yard both in the evening and in the morning as we ate breakfast. Lovely area for taking a walk too.

Ponderosa38103, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Ponderosa Lodge, responded to this review
Dear Rodney S - Thank you so much for your recent review regarding your stay. We thoroughly enjoyed your comments about the wildlife on and around our property as we are fortunate to live and work in an area where we can enjoy all the "critters" that nature has to offer. We often forget that our guests may come from cities or other locations where they don't get to see animals in their natural settings, including deer, squirrels, chipmunks, and many bird species....plus our own Llamas. We're glad that our facilities and services were also to your liking and we hope you can visit us again soon! Loy Helmly & Staff

Really liked this place. The room was large and clean. There was a sliding door leading onto a very large grassy area with lots of trees and across the lawn a fenced in area with Llamas just chewing away. A quiet and peaceful setting. The location was close to town, but not close enough to walk. Still, it was an easy drive and easy to find parking in Sisters. The breakfast was about average, except they had a waffle maker. The eating area was a little dark and gloomy. Next time I'll just go to one of the many restaurants in Sister. I will stay here again.

Ponderosa38103, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Ponderosa Lodge, responded to this review
Dear Kristy D - We read your review comments with interest and were glad that you enjoyed our over-sized guest rooms, the Llamas, the peaceful setting of the Ponderosa pines and our expansive grass courtyard. Many of our guests feel the same as you did and we are always happy to hear when someone enjoys their stay. We were a little confused about your notes of the breakfast room being dark and gloomy as most guests comment that the area is extra bright, with the overhead lighting, the TV on the news channel and the hustle and bustle of other guests coming and going...more of a high-energy setting. We're sorry you didn't enjoy that part of your stay but we're glad you would consider staying with us again. Travel safely and we'll see you soon! Loy Helmly & Staff

Lovely motel w/ well landscaped grounds set in a forest like setting off of the road. Nice outdoor pool and hot tub. The interior rooms have logs accents as does the outside. Quite charming. Also have very large rooms!!! Breakfast not so great, but you can sit outside and enjoy the scenery around you so that helps.

Ponderosa38103, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Ponderosa Lodge, responded to this review
Dear Jay T - We appreciated receiving your notes about your recent stay with us. We're glad to know that you enjoyed our relaxing setting and large rooms. They are a refreshing change from some of the smaller hotel/motel rooms that some facilities have today and the extra space in the rooms here allows our guests to relax and enjoy themselves, just as you did. We saw your note about breakfast and that is a challenge, as many people have different perspectives on what should be available. We're working on some new alternatives for breakfast and will implement them soon. We hope you enjoy them when you visit us next time. Best regards, Loy Helmly & Staff

I was so impressed with this hotel. Every single thing about it. Room was immaculate (left a $2 gratuity for the housekeeper). The breakfast was the best I have experienced on a complementary basis at ANY hotel. Staff was so friendly. The quaint, lodge-style look was not expected at this price point. First time I tried a Best Western in like 25 years (I once had a bad experience with them). Will definitely give the brand another go after this.

Ponderosa38103, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Ponderosa Lodge, responded to this review
Dear Jackie K - What nice comments! We're so glad you enjoyed your stay and it's nice to see that we surprised you in many areas with our facilities and services. We hope that you'll become a frequent visitor to our property (and other Best Westerns as well) when you are travelling. Thanks again and we'll hope to see you soon! Loy Helmly & Staff

When I found out my husband booked a motel, I was not super excited. However, when we arrived I was surprised at the staff's friendliness, the beauty of the establishment, and the uniqueness of the llamas and the grounds. The beams in the hotel room we're beautiful. The leather chair was super comfy. I felt so comfortable and want to return on the future. I recommend Best Western to anyone who is visiting this beautiful area.

Dear Becki T - We were so pleased to hear that you think we are the "best motel ever"! We see ourselves as a mini-resort (with out ourtdoor pool and hot-tub, spacious lawns and Ponderosa Pine trees) and that really seems to set us apart from other roadside lodging properties. We also enjoyed being able to surprise you with the comfort of our rooms, making your stay to your liking. We'll see you again soon! Travel safely! Loy Helmly & Staff

This is a big hotel with a small town feel. Located on the west side of Sisters, Oregon, this ranch style hotel offers beautiful grounds including llamas! A two-story hotel, the bottom floors have patios and second floors have decks. There are also picnic tables to enjoy a light meal on the grounds. The room was large and clean. I understand that there are suites with lovely appointments including spas. We did not stay in one, but I was very happy with our accommodations. The breakfast was a typical BEST WESTERN PLUS type breakfast, featuring waffles and biscuits with gravy. We look forward to a future visit.

Ponderosa38103, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Ponderosa Lodge, responded to this review
Dear edeaton - Great comments on your stay....we enjoyed reading them and getting your perspective on our facilities and services. You gave good notes for future guests to use when selecting a room choice, either our standard, spacious and well-appointed Lodgepole rooms or our luxuriously appointed suites. Both are enjoyable, depending on the needs of the guests. Our Llamas are always a conversation topic for guests and their personalities make them fun to watch and enjoy. Come visit us again soon....the "value season" of off-season rates are in effect most of the winter (other than holidays) and we'll hope you can stop in for another visit! Loy Helmly & Staff

This hotel takes you back to Bonanza days on TV. Staying at the Ponderosa is a thrill by its self. We enjoyed the large hot tub for 20+ friends and the large swimming pool. The grounds are perfect for a high country ranch allowing us to enjoy the great outdoors. We will return for R & R soon!

Ponderosa38103, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Ponderosa Lodge, responded to this review
Dear Ron S - It was fun to read how you enjoyed our large outdoor hot tub and pool with your friends. They are a great amenity which we have for recreation on property. We do close the pool in the winter but the hot tub remains open year round and our guest really seem to enjoy hot tubbing in the snow! We're glad you enjoyed our setting in the Ponderosa Pines and we hope you can come visit again soon. Best wishes - Loy Helmly & Staff

11/10/2015

The Best Western Ponderosa Lodge is a nice place to stay. The rooms are spacious, clean and quiet. One thing in particular that stood out in the double queen room was a sink in both the bathroom and just outside of it, which was a real hit with my wife. The service was good and available 24 hours, though we did not need that. The only negative I can think of about this property is that at certain times of day it is difficult to get back on the highway if your are headed east - traffic can be a problem.

Ponderosa38103, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Ponderosa Lodge, responded to this review
Dear DustyBottoms - What a fun screen name! With the beach photo, we can see that you enjoy your travels. We appreciate your kind notes and referring us to future travelers. If the only problem you had was the highway traffic for access / egress, then we can understand it as Highway 20 is a major east / west corridor and heavily used. However, once you get off the road, we're a nice little oasis set in a Ponderosa Pine forest. Since you enjoyed so many elements of your stay, we'll count it as a wonderful one and we'll hope you can return again soon! Thank you, Loy Helmly & Staff

Visiting family in Sisters - nice spot ! Conveniently located, nice large parking lot and pet friendly. Big, clean, quiet room and with a special basket for our dog :) Friendly service, good selection for the free breakfast and plenty of room on the grounds to walk around. Immaculate is the word that most comes to mind describing this hotel. The grounds are lovely, and the hotel itself is very attractive. The room was large and again, immaculate. The bed was very comfy. The staff was very helpful and friendly. I would have given it five stars, but the Continental Breakfast needs some work. The food looked tasty, but the room where the tables were was very, very small and there was no place for us to eat. One person was actually eating from a coffee table in the lobby. For such a large hotel, they definitely need a much larger area to serve their breakfast. We ended up going in to Sisters to get breakfast.

Ponderosa38103, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Ponderosa Lodge, responded to this review
Dear Appymom - Thank you for noting that our ground, facilities and services were to your liking while you were here and that you felt our housekeeping and maintenance was "immaculate". We'll be sure to share that with our staff so they'll know their hard work is appreciated. Your note about our breakfast room being small is correct and during warmer weather, many guests choose to eat outside at the umbrella tables on the lawn. However, we do have plans underway to add a new entry / reception building to our facilities in the next 2 years. When we do, we'll be sure to add in a new kitchen and expanded dining area to make seating more comfortable year-round. Best regards, Loy Helmly & Staff
