The room was nice. It had a microwave and a dorm size fridge with freezer compartment. The room also came with a sofa bed already made. There were no hot foods but there were wrapped burger/burritos in fridge which you can heat in the microwave provided. They also provide sliced almonds, granola, waffle makers. There was even almond milk for those who are allergic to cows milk. But you have to ask for it. Of course, they also had fresh fruit. The waitress was very attentive. The people at the reception desk were very nice. I wouldn't mind coming back to this establishment.

Clean spacious rooms. The staff is so kind. Mary at the front desk was so welcoming and helpful. Danielle who took care of breakfast was also a pleasure, really did a great job. The property is well taken care of but the staff really made the stay special. We will return any time we are in the area.

It's inexpensive, close the centre of town, our room was large and well equipped overlooking the street. The reception was very welcoming and helpful. So why not 4 stars? The complimentary breakfast was terrible. It's served in the lobby, is tasteless and the coffee was the worst I tasted during 5 weeks in the US. A pity.

We had a great experience at DeAnza Inn!!! We reserved 2 rooms for 8 guests for a Women's Retreat which was held in Seaside. It was so easy to get around from the hotel. There was only a small 'glitch' at check-in and Mary wasn't quite sure how to handle it so we had to wait for the other lady to finish up with the guests she was helping. Long-story-short Mary made a lengthy wait more enjoyable by keeping conversation going between the two of us whole time!! The only thing that I was not happy with was that the breakfast was not quite a full breakfast, but it was little more than continental. However, there were breakfast burritos, sandwiches, waffles, cereal, toast, muffins, bagels, coffee, tea, juice, etc. All in all it was a very enjoyable stay!

Vert nice hotel. Beautiful room, excellent decor. Great breakfast. Great WiFi. Got in late and wanted something to eat. There is a Denny's next door so we ate there. Food was good and not expensive. Only problem is that our GPS could not find the address "2141 N. Fremont Street. Had to put in Fremont St without the "N".

Super friendly, spotlessly clean hotel with interior corridors. Excellent quality proved far below motel prices. Breakfast included fresh waffles and pancakes, cereals, yogurt, coffee and three kinds of juices, and microwaveable breakfast sandwiches and burritos. Highly recommend!

This hotel is a breath of fresh air after staying at the Monterey Beach Dunes Inn last week (NOT to be confused with the Best Western Beach Dunes Inn.) The price is about $40 less or roughly $120 per night and the hotel is better in almost every way. Firstly the staff is prompt and courteous. The hotel is clean and everything is well-stocked. The rooms are huge. The one king bed type room has a desk, a couch, a sitting chair, a coffee table, several end tables, and a large ottoman. The bathroom has excellent water pressure and the water gets hot fast. The rooms all have a mini-fridge and a safe, neither of which was available at the Beach Dunes Inn. The continental breakfast was a nice treat. You can make your own waffles, hot cereal, bagel or english muffin with cream cheese, fresh fruit, etc. etc. The only downside I can see is there is a bit of road noise if you're on the Fremont Street side.

Room had everything we needed. Manager even walked across the street to the local CVS and bought us some large fingernail clippers. He never charged us for them. The hosts also brought my wife a bottle of wine, two glasses and snacks because we were staying there on her birthday.

We got a queen room, not large but enough. Room is well decorated, coffee machine, nice bathroom. The bed was sized as expected but it was too soft and jumpy. That is a problem. Breakfast was very good, got good service.

De Anza Inn is situated in a less busy area but still near to mall, grocery shops, restaurants and to the beach. Very good choice of continental breakfast, very friendly and helpful staffs, business computer is also available in the lobby which is nice.. Guest service is exceptional. Love this hotel!

Nice property at a very fair price for the area. We compared this property to another where we usually stay and this one was much less expensive. We recommend this property for your stay on the Monterey Peninsula.

Central location for all your travel 0lans to Monterey bay. The hotel has spacious rooms. Great beds! Clean and maintained. Breakfast is awesome! Breakfast burritos, sandwiches and waffles, just to name a few! The coffee machine needs some getting used too. Stay here,you won't be disappointed!!

We decided to visit Monterey after san francisco before going back to Italy. Hotel is very nice, quiet and close to everything. Free coffee in the lobby that has a very beautiful koi pond and parking is very spacious. We are a group of 8 and we do walk in Kristelle help us, she gave us the best rooms and made everything easy and smooth. The rooms are very nice and big there is hot tub too best hotel we stayed in America.

We stopped at this hotel on our way to San Francisco from LA. Although we arrived late in the evening, The girl at the reception was very friendly. Room was spacious and super-clean, with lotion and soap/shampoo supply of quality higher than standard. Room very silent, bed very comfortable, excellent and abundant breakfast!

we stayed at Best Western two weeks back and absolutely loved our stay. Right from the moment we walked in, we just felt so welcomed at the hotel. You know it helps to have an all smiling and engaging staff to welcome you after a long tiring flight:) The hotel is very clean and the rooms are spacious.The beds were comfy too which is surprisingly very hard to find at hotels with such great affordable prices. Breakfast was good and I love love the location. close to the 17 mile drive and the cannery row. There is also a safeway just few mins drive from the hotel just incase you need anything. all in all a memorable stay. we loved Monterey and have already decided to visit the place again so best western will def be our place to go on our next visit.

My wife and I went for a 5 Day mini Vacation to the Monterey Peninsula. Our stay at this Best Western was Excellent. Great Value for this area! Excellent location. Really Great room with a super comfy king bed. Nice, included, Breakfast with Peet's coffee. We will be back.

We loved this hotel. The staff were so helpful and so friendly. We loved talking to them. The rooms were large, comfortable and very clean.The location was great and was very convenient to Monterey and the 17 mile drive. There was plenty of parking. We just loved this hotel!

i stay in different hotels whenever i'm in the area and i finally found the hotel where i can permanently stay. breakfast is good, very spacious rooms, classy style for an inn and most of all very friendly staffs!! i had to rate 4 stars for the vending machine that isn't working, had a problem with my key card BUT thanks to Krystel in the front desk for solving the problem very fast! she was so sweet and nice to run and get me a fan when i complained that there is no AC in the hotel. will definitely recommend to my co-workers!! i had problems but customer service is very SUPERB i guess that is the most important

"Very pricey for limited amenities"

Hotel located in tip of north Monterey; easy access to Highway 1. Free breakfast is really misleading, as there was nothing hot served. You could microwave Jimmy Dean sandwiches or burritos, eat cold hard boiled egg, or make waffles. Seating at breakfast extremely limited, just not enough tables/chairs to accommodate guests. Some guests extremely rude and pushy. Front desk staff were not familiar with local restaurants, attractions, shopping amenities at all, did not know where to buy cheapest gas or find cheapest parking.

Absolutely excellent experience. We arrived at about 9:00pm and was surprise to be welcomed with such a great energy. It was calm, cozy with a beautiful music in the lobby. Basanta checked us in and he went above and beyond in every single way. I and my wife still talks about his energy and his willingness to say "yes" to everything. The hotel overall is well maintained. They offer free breakfast as well as FREE PARKING. The only down side is it doesn't have AC but the attitude of staff makes it all. Every single staff that we encounter greeted and smiled at us. Thumbs up for the great hospitality.

"Bathroom Denied: clean but not convenient "

The De Anza has a really bad location. Construction everywhere and an awakened U turn to turn in next to a Denny's. No bathrooms on the bottom floor to check in. No place to eat. Large families group in a tile bottom floor where people are checking in and out ! It is chaos! Also slippery floor where a large open fish tank sits when you open the door. Small rooms where you can hear everything and everyone. If you are looking for a quick night to stay alone or a couple could work but not a family. Will not return again.

Recently we were visiting Monterey with our almost 10 year old grandchild. The room was spacious, breakfast was great, my grandchild enjoyed the pool. Great location and convenient. Would recommend, very friendly staff.

The hotel room was quite spacious. Very nice size bathroom. Beds are comfortable. Though, the pillows could be a little more firm. Our room was on the third (highest) floor and was facing a pretty busy street. No noise could be hear though and it was a Friday night. The staff was all very friendly and helpful...always with a smile. The brealfast was great, too! Pancakes, waffles, cereals, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, frozen burritos, and coffee/juice. Would definitely stay here again.

We chose this hotel due to its proximity to Fisherman's Wharf and connecting restaurants. There are bunch of hotels around Fremont street, each decorated with flowers making the street beautiful to drive in but I can say the same for the whole city. The stay at the hotel was wonderful. The staff are exceptionally polite and sweet. I asked for suggestions on renting bikes and they were more than happy to help. Their continental breakfast featured burrito and sandwich which I loved. I felt that everything had been thought of throughly and taken care of. Will definitely come back. Thank you for making our stay in Monterey so warm.

"Ask for a room on Floor 3"

Hotel is located about 2 1/2 Miles or 5 min drive from Fisherman's Wharf so is fairly isolated from anything that is touristy although there is a Denny's next door. Good parking all round hotel in well marked bays. Rooms are located on 3 floors with a centrally located lift and stairs at both extreme ends of the building. Lift was slow so made use of staircases so at least got some exercise. Rooms are of a good size with seating area, large comfortable bed. A unit houses the TV, fridge, microwave and a safe which was nice to see. As typical of this part of CA there is no AC just a heating unit in the room and It was quite warm during our stay. We requested a desk mounted fan be supplied and this was immediately despatched to our room. My wife is also allergic to feather pillows so requested if they could be changed to a synthetic fill, which again was effected almost immediately. Breakfast was a fairly typical complimentary breakfast which we found to be OK and was well maintained by a lovely lady. The breakfast area seating is fairly limited but was not a problem for us as we ate early and many families took it to their rooms to eat. We stayed for 2 nights and found on the second day that although the towels etc had been changed all the dirty linen was left piled in the corner of the bathroom. The only other negative for us was the noise. Unfortunately we were located on the second floor. The floor construction I suggest is timber and for both nights of our stay we listened to the occupants of the room above walking around on various occasions. I am sure it was unintentional just that the floor construction is not really compatible with a multi floor hotel facility. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay.

From the moment we walked into the lobby and were greeted by smiles of the staff, we knew we made the right choice of hotels for a week of riding horses at the nearby stables. The room was huge (which was great for all our gear), and spotlessly clean. The breakfast in the morning was typical BW style, but it met our morning needs. "Nice Reasonable Hotel in Monterey"

A spacious, clean room along Fremont Street in Monterey. It is a little older but well maintained. Queen beds, coffee maker, all the usual stuff in a hotel room. The staff was nice and helpful. The morning breakfast was good. The only problem is that their parking area is pretty small and at the time of our visit, half of it was closed for paving. I was lucky and found a spot to park.

Our check in and check out was excellent. I highly commend the staff. The only reason I gave a 3 is because our room was facing the street so it was a bit noisy and the breakfast area is a tad small. The lady working at the breakfast area is super nice and hard working. Location is great with 2 restaurants right next to each side. We stayed close to the beach most of the time so we paid a bit much here on last minute booking.

This is a very nice, clean and well-maintained facility. The room was large with a comfortable bed. The complimentary breakfast included a variety of hot and cold items. Overall, we would probably stay again next time we are in the area.

"Our Second Stay"

Only about ten minutes from Fisherman's Wharf and fifteen from Cannery Row and the Aquarium. It is nice and clean. We got a large room with all the usual, Wi-Fi, TV, microwave, refrigerator, hair drier, iron, coffee mater. The continental breakfast is basic, I've had better and worse. The staff was very nice. A nice City Park and historic walk are also about five or ten minutes away. There is one elevator and two stairs, I tried to use the stairs when I could. Most of the parking is in back and the elevator is the way in. The ice maker is on the second floor and I spent some time looking for it. We had stayed here before. I have no complaints, it is a basic place to spend the night between days of sightseeing.

The customer service provided at this hotel is excellent. The room was clean and comfortable with Keurig machine and fridge. Breakfast was wonderful as well and had a variety of different options for being a continental breakfast. In addition, location is perfect as it is close to all sorts of tourist attractions and Monterey must-dos. We were pleasantly impressed with the upkeep of the hotel. The Manager Basanta, is an unbelievable servant leader! He printed out the directions to different places and help us find the right restaurants. He went above and beyond and also made reservations at another locations that we were about to go. He was genuine,helpful and kind. I don't travel often but when I do this is the kind of experience I look for! I will never stay anywhere else in Mo0nterey but this place.

"No hot water"

No issues with the room themselves, they're clean, spacious and well kept. Boiler apparently broke down overnight during our second night here leaving us with no hot water whatsoever for the evening or the morning after. Front desk informed us that there was nothing they were going to do about it overnight, and no managers were available to contact either. So no solutions and no compensations. Rather soiled the stay.

I am a retired attorney in his late 60s and live in the San Francisco area. I came to the Monterey for a few days to do some photography. I made reservations for several nights. They have a tiny lobby with a few limited selections for breakfast. One of them is a sausage and egg patty muffin. This comes wrapped in a very thick paper wrapping and is sealed with adhesive. They have a small microwave oven. I decided to have two of them. I put one in the microwave and sat down at a rolling chair at a table that had a computer screen and a keyboard on the far right. I set the other muffin, which, again, is wrapped in very thick paper, on the table. Immediately a woman, whom I believe is named Daniella, said loudly to me "Don't put that on the table". This is while the first one was still cooking. I simply set it down until the other one is still cooking and was berated for doing so. The next day I brought my own laptop computer into the lobby and placed it on the table in front of their computer while waiting for someone else to finish using the microwave. I set one of these muffins wrapped in thick paper next to my computer. She immediately came over and said that I couldn't put the muffin on the table. I said that I was just waiting for someone else to finish using the microwave. It didn't matter to her. What was the muffin going to do-jump over my opened laptop and land on top of their opened keyboard which was behind my computer and land on their keyboard which was behind my computer? This is absurd. I again was spoken to disrespectfully and rudely. I am paying hundreds and hundreds of dollars for the privielige of putting a piece of lousy food on a cheap table. I told the evening manager, Mike about this and he said that he would talk to her. On the following day, I wanted to microwave something for 3 SECONDS. While I had the oven door in my hand and was closing it she suddenly reach over and grabbed the door and forcefully yanked it away from me. I was shocked. I am almost 70 years old. This is also the person who empties the garbage cans and sweeps the floor in the lobby. Assault on a person 65 years or older in California is taken very seriously. When I went into the room after checking in, I saw a number of hairs on the bathroom floor. They remained there for 2 days until I told the front desk. The rubber bathroom stopper was almost completely covered in red algae. The bed sagged very badly. The pillows were just large lumpy chunks of foam rubber. There is no air conditioning. The walls are very thin. The heater is very loud. The furniture is very dated. It is in a so-so part of town, with 2 out of business restaurants nearby. One was out of business when I was here 8 months ago. In the lobby is the saddest koi pond you have ever seen, with large fish swimming listlessly in a very small and very shallow pond. If you want to spend hundreds and hundreds of your hard earned dollars so that you can be treated with disrespect for briefly setting a piece of dry food on a cheap table, so-so cleaning, low end breakfast, traffic noise, this is your place. However, if you want otherwise STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE. There are over 100 places in the area to stay. PLEASE choose one of them. I have travelled a great deal, both here and abroad, and this is about the worst experience I have had. Management by children. I will be contacting the Best Western corporate office regarding my assault. VERY low class.

The Best Western De Anza is a SUPERB value in a great location! For the past six years, the De Anza has been our home away from home. This property is close enough to all the main highlight such as Fisherman's Wharf, Cannery Row, downtown but far enough away to be out of the chaos. As towns run together in the area, it is closer to Seaside, but all are easy drives. This is very well kept and the rooms are comfortable and spacious. Will definately stay again.

"Great place to stay and play golf on a budget."

The room was great, clean and the bed was really comfortable. Having four pillows is a nice touch. We were there for three days of golf. It was perfect. It's hard pleasing 4 guys. One guy got up early and had a waffle and a cup of coffee down stairs. Then we all went to Denny's, right next door, for a big breakfast before tee time. Dinner and beer at the Cook House, which is also right next door, was also perfect. Don't take my word for it. There were two other groups of golfers doing the same thing.

First and foremost it would take a great deal of thoughtfulness and awareness on the part of most of your staff, namely the managing supervisor. We rented the King Suite. It happened to share a wall with the hotel office. The manager was so unbelievably loud on the second day that we stayed at the hotel that I mentioned it once to a front desk associate and the second time I went to the front desk and spoke with the manager. He did not apologize, only excused the issue by saying he had had a meeting. Next point, I attempted to buy cappuccino several times from the machine lobby and it never worked. I let the front desk know and the issue was never resolvedZ I say again, I tried several times to spend money at the hotel and could not. Lastly, when we arrived there was a front desk associate named Mayra, I believe, who never welcomed us to the hotel only asked us for our name when we first arrived. This isn't the greeting you want when you spend money to stay at an establishment while away from home. That kind of customer service is laughable. I will say, the highlight of our stay was Denise. She was a front desk associate and was the most kind and lovely woman. She was always there for any questions she had and she always wore and genuine and welcoming smile. You need about 5 more Denise's at your hotel to make it worth the stay.

Best stay ever! Place is very clean, quiet and just all around nice. Staff are excellent and attentive to any needs. I would definitely recommend if in the Monterey area. We will be back soon. The manager, Edwin, is so sweet. Asked for a extra blanket and he had it for us in under 1 minute ! ????

"Noisy room and 0 empathy"

We checked in late evening, parking was a struggle but we were able to manage it. Did not realize the first floor and the lobby was also used for breakfast which is terrible if you stay on the first floor. The staff start preparing breakfast early at around 4 AM which is very noisy. Woke up few times because of all the noise of chairs and other things being dragged around. When we mentioned this, they just said they were preparing breakfast. You'd expect them to show empathy and adjust the rate but I guess they are after every penny regardless of the customer's satisfaction

We loved this hotel on our two nights stay. Very clean, nicely appointed rooms, convenient location and great staff who is always two steps ahead of your needs. Breakfast was just what you need to start your day. All employees were very pleasant and professional... obviously well run and organized hotel. We will be back next time around.

"Dirty Sheets and poor customer service"

Checked in to this hotel late in the evening, was expecting Best Western level service but received Hojo service. The drain was clogged and the sheets were dirty. Called the front desk, no answer! Called back in the morning, the manager did not return my call.

"Lost a repeat customer"

They did not have the room that I reserved available. Staff was very unaccomindating. They made my family sleep in a 1 king bed room. I had requested a noon check in time and showed up at 1:00. I was told the rooms were not ready. I went back at 3:00 and they did not have the requested room for me. The room has a flickering light (which they did fix), dirty sheets (both the top and the bottom as seen in the pictures), and hair in the bathtub. We had stayed here before but will no stay here again. Being a Gold Member does not mean anything at this place.

This B/W is very comfortable and convenient. The staff, especially the Front Desk Clerk was extremely helpful and accommodating with this last moment reservation. The breakfast was okay, but could be improved upon with a greater variety of items. The Hotel is located between two restaurants and near other amenities. We will be returning to this Hotel.

"Not a safe neighborhood, no major attraction"

We went to this motel because of the price, it is the lowest among all Best Westerns. However, is it really worth risking yours and your loved ones safety to save $10 a night? I don't think so! You should be aware that if she stay in this motel you can't walk anywhere. There are a lot of homeless people around the hotel and Denny's. On our second night there were people in a car in the closed parking spot and it looked like they were smoking something. We called Front Desk to report it but no one picked up the phone. We ended up double locking our door and check-out before our actual check-out day. We went to Park Crest Inn after which was much more secure and convenient.

"Desperately in need of renovation"

Stayed here during the rainy days. The hotel is old and not well maintained. It is leaking in the hall ways and in our room. I don't remember the room number but it was in the top floor. We usually love to have a top floor room but in this hotel it is not suggested, in fact you might as well skip it and go stay in a hotel that does not leak. TERRIBLE!!!!

We really enjoyed our stay. Two things really stood out. The front desk and breakfast attendant were friendly and helpful. The staff seemed to want to make sure that you had a good experience. In addition, the koi pond in the lobby was a nice touch. My three year old loved the fish.

"Extremely clean, friendly"

I stayed here twice in January. At the beginning of the month for two nights an at the end of the.month for three nights. Both visits i found that this place is kept very clean. If there is anything not working properly they immediately take care of it. The beds are very comfortable and so are the pillows. The staff is very friendly and they make you feel very comfortable. On the last visit i inquired about a Greek restaurant that serves tabouli. The clerk on duty said she would do some research and find out for me. I told her i could research it but she wanted to do that for us. The next morning she told me of one such one she found. It was very sweet of her.. This is a small Hotel/Inn with three floors interior corridors with clerk at the desk 24 hrs. Also a non smoking establishment like most places of lodging in this area. They serve a nice breakfast, between 7 and 10 even earlier if they see people in the lobby. Breakfast choices are fresh fruits, dry cereal, oatmeal, waffles, yogurt, coffee, tea, milk and bagels, butter, cream cheese. Also some kind of roll that had egg and ham in it I think. Also hard boiled eggs. It is set up where you can serve yourself. You can get coffe or tea anytime of day. Their koi pond just as you enter the hotel is very attractive as it is relaxing. Also the rooms have a fridge and microwave. Free wifi. Just a short drive to all the nearby attractions including Carmel and Pacific Grove This would be our first choice when visiting this area again.

"2-Night Stay over for 50K Trail Race"

The staff was great... particularly for check-in. The morning breakfast was good overall. The coach in our suite needed replacement, the pillows could have been better. The room was clean. The complain was without air conditioning you needed to open a window, and a smoke free outside is not maintained, so we were inundated with cigarette smoke in our room. Would not recommend.

We've stayed here several times and each trip has been very nice. Large, clean rooms, genuinely pleasant staff, adequate free breakfast, close to everything and a hundred bucks cheaper than a comparable room two miles closer to town. What's not to like?

It's a very nice hotel, a bit on the expensive side (for such types of hotels) but it was worth it! Stayed for one night only, but definitely enjoyed it. Nice rooms, everything working properly, spacious bathroom, fairly good breakfast. What else do you need? Internet free, parking free.

The check in girl was a little short but no biggie. The lady working breakfast was very rude to other guest right in front of me, I almost felt bad for them. They had a coffee machine that had free coffee but you had to swipe your credit card for extras like vanilla or mocha. Those same guest also opened a drawer and took a couple spoons or forks, again not that big of a deal but the gal working there acted like they went inside her purse. The breakfast was hardly called breakfast, more like a bunch of unhealthy crap. They didn't have any fruit, yogurt or healthy choices. It would have been easy to have fruit or even boiled eggs. They did have pastries available which I didn't want, and they also had sugar cereal and waffles.

"Good value, friendly staff"

We booked this hotel as it was a great value. Our room was on the 3rd floor, facing the main road. It was a bit loud in the early morning, but tolerable. The room was clean, well appointed with the amenities that were listed. Edwin at check-in was courteous and informative. The lady that was working at the breakfast area and Daniela were very friendly as extremely helpful as well. The breakfast area is small, but many people were taking their breakfasts to their rooms and our room had a sitting area, so this was not a problem. I would make sure not to get a room on the first floor close to the lobby as I am sure it would be quite noisy at breakfast time. We would not hesitate to stay here again.

"Good place to stay with large family."

We had a two bedroom, two bathroom which was good for our large family. Kids on one side, adults on the other. Location was ok to everything. A few things needed repair, but we worked around them. Staff very friendly. Breakfast ok. A little noisy being on a main road. Master bath nice. Reasonable for the area

"I'm terrified "

I will complaint to the management. The room looks like when we came in. Then, I saw this unknown bag with coins on the dresser. And, some other stuff left in the room, which is probably from the previous guest. I took my little one with me and he was so tired. I tried to call the front desk but no one answered. So I decided to take care of him first. Then I found more stuff left in the room. A pill, a bag of popcorn, a paper with some notes. I am always a best western visitor but this time I am terrified. If I am not with my little one, if we were not both very tired, and if the front desk answered the phone, I would ask for another room right away for sure. Anyway, I don't even know they cleaned the bathroom. I don't know what was the things in the bag. I am sad.

"Cheap as Chips"

Spending Christmas with my son in Monterey, but we have to stay in a hotel as he and his new wife dont have the room. I booked a King room at the BW De Anza, thinking that as this was Monterey it would be tiny fir the price, but since it was only somewhere to put our heads down, no biggy. I will start with the couple of negatives and then go on to the awesomness. Firstly, they only have parking spaces for disabled drivers, the other spaces were full and in any case so tight, a disabled person could not get out of their car. There is parking at a level down, as the building is on a steep hill, but not for disabled and in any event although there is an elevator, you need a room key to use it. Tge receptionist told me that it eould be OK to stop outside tge lobby to book in, but not without blocking the exit/enterance and I am not a rude entitled person who thiks that would be OK, I was brought up properly. She allowed me a room key to get my husbsnd and his service dog to reception. There is a very stained stool in the room, which is sad because as you can see the room is really clean and welcoming otherwise. Now for the good stuff. The lobby has glass doors and large glass windows, so as you look in, it feels like Christmas and I would not be suprised if it feels that way all year round. There is a a pond with Coy Carp next to reception, that fascinated my husbands dog as we booked in. We were offered a room for the disabled, but as they had an elevator we chose a standard room, which was on the third floor, that has bay windows and a view of tge mountains on one side. We discovered we had a suite, substantial enough to hold a party and with a fridge microwave and small oven hidden away in the cabinet, totally doable. Even our Service dog pitbulls crate is lost. The bathroom has no dirt, mold or rust even in the crevices. and the bed, oh the bed has two pads so not only is it stiff enough to support, but soft enough to sink into and snuggle up. The pillows are thick and fully supportive. Once I lay my head down, I slept for 9 hours, without waking up. I am looking firward to tonite and all of this as cheap as chips.

Friendly and helpful staff. Right next to Denny s Complimentary peets coffee, Juice, tea, and water 24hours in lobby also fruit. Comfy room heard but a few noises. Shower very low water pressure. Soap not too good.

When we are visiting family in the area and need some extra room, we stay in this hotel. It's consistently clean with very nice rooms in a convenient location. When our son was younger, he loved visiting the koi pond and eating at Denny's. The front desk staff are really outstanding - professional and kind.

Good to know, this place is next to Dennys Restaurant. Because of that sonetimes you can‘t open the window. The pool is poor. The rooms are big, clean and the bed is pretty comfortable. It‘s a 10 minutes drive to cannery row and the aquarium.

Hotel was in excellent shape. Room, bed and bath were very nice. Exterior/interior well kept. Rooms were quiet with windows closed. Windows open there was road noise. I found the fich in the lobby pool quite nice!

So this was a last minute booking the previous hotel we booked was not like how it appeared in the website. We called Best Western and told us they could have us check in as soon as we arrived. So we drove over there and we booked the room and room was available:) just like how she said. The room was super clean and smelled good staff was friendly my only problem was the bed was to firm but other then that it was a great stay. I will be returning here again.

The staff was super helpful, the room was incredible - upgraded from hotels.com --- it was so well laid out, clean, comfortable and close to the activities we wanted to see such as the Monterey Baby Aquarium. Highly Recommended!!!

Cost of this stay was about $100 too much for a Best Western. It was out on the highway and I could see the cost if it was near the water or had a view, but it did not. When you are desperate, you stay where you can get a room however. It was a nice hotel with nice room and great amenities. I probably would not recommend it because of cost.

Location is just off Highway One on Casa Verde - convenient for checkbin, the Wharf and downtown museum as well as Fishermen's Wharf and Cannery Row and the Monterey Bay Aquarium. We had a king sized bed which also gave us a sofa bed bed sitting area and a working desk with excellent power strip.

We completely enjoyed our stay. Very friendly and helpful staff. Next time we are in the area we will stay here. The hotel was clean and neat. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The breakfast was good, if scrambled eggs were added it would be great. Loved it.

I have stayed here 4 years in a row and appreciate that I am near where I want to be but NOT in the middle of the insanity of busy area of the city. I am 5-15 minutes from anywhere I want to go and this hotel is consistently clean, quiet, nice staff and affordable compared to other locations.

"Overnight stay to the aquarium"

This trip was my first time on the west coast visiting my daughter and her boyfriend in Santa Clara. It was all our first time in Monterey. The hotel is new and boutique but the rooms are spacious and relaxing. The beds are the best part with plenty of pillows!

"Very Good Value for the area"

We had a very nice stay here. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our room was very nice, clean and surprisingly roomy. The only thing missing was an air-conditioner but it wasn't necessary during our stay (and probably not necessary most times of the year). The windows were not very sound proof and we heard the airplanes passing overhead. But planes only flew during the day and there was no noise issues at night. Parking was plentiful.

The rooms are simple, adequate at best. We had sleepless nights due to the rooms not being sound proofed. The staff was super nice and helpful. Short driving distance to Canary Row and the Aquarium. Probably won't stay there again.

Nice, small property located about 3 miles from wharf. Our room was quite large with a fold out couch, refrigerator and microwave. Nice sized bathroom. Breakfast was more than adequate: make your own waffles, cereal, toast, pastries, yogurt, juice etc., microwavable burritos and breakfast sandwiches. Very nice front desk staff. They were having a jack-o-lantern contest and guests were the voting judges. Fun. Will stay again.

"Terrific stay in Monterey"

Everyone was wonderful. The hotel was super clean, and spacious. Parking was available and easy. We enjoyed Best Western's usual daily breakfast each morning. There are three restaurants close by, two adjacent and one half block away. Special note: The night desk clerk went out of his way to alert us that our hazard lights on our car were blinking late at night. We were not able to turn them off due to low battery and then attended to the issue with a tow service. The clerk offered for us to go to our room and he would notify us when they arrived. We declined and during the wait for the auto service the hotel clerk asked us if we needed anything. Very Kind man! we found the area comfortable for walking to the restaurant in the evening and is only a block from the street that leads you to Highway 1 for Monterey's sights. The breakfast attendant helped us with some items as well. Everyone was pleasant to deal with. I will definitely stay there again.

"Clean and comfortable"

In a sea of very overpriced hotels in the Monterey area, this hotel is more palatable (although, IMO still too expensive). The property is located not too far off of the highway, in an area with a bunch of motels (this is, thankfully, a hotel -- the distinguishing factor for me being a hotel has doors to the rooms on an inside corridor). The parking lot seems to be a bit small, but we never had trouble finding a spot. You can't access the elevator from the lower parking lot (in the back) up to the lobby (or other floors) without a room key, so you'll need to go around the front to check in. We had a large room with 2 double/queen beds, and it was quite comfortable. It had the usual amenities plus a good sized mini-refrigerator, a small microwave, and a sitting area in the bay window. The beds and linens were comfortable, the bathroom had plenty of towels and a large sink/vanity. The walls were a little bit thin, but there wasn't enough noise to bother us at all. The free WiFi worked well, so no complaints there. The complimentary continental breakfast is served in the lobby, and there's pretty limited seating. It wasn't an issue when we were there, but I can see that during busy times it might be a challenge. There was a variety of hot and cold items, and although I didn't eat any of it, it seemed like it would be sufficient for a continental breakfast. There was a 'juice' machine (seemed more like juice-flavored drinks than actual juice), and there was a fancy coffee machine which was NOT complimentary (it required a credit card). If you prefer, there's a Keurig machine on the bathroom counter in your room. The staff was helpful and friendly, and we were pleased we were able to purchase tickets for the Monterey Bay Aquarium from the hotel, which saved us time and waiting in line at the aquarium. Speaking of fish -- there's a really shallow little tiled pool in the lobby, with a bunch of huge koi fish in it. It's beyond sad to see the fish barely able to swim in it because it's so shallow and small compared to their size. I'd really rather see that area of the lobby filled with plants or other landscaping that can enjoy the sunshine there. Overall, we enjoyed our stay there and would recommend this property for those looking for a less-expensive option in the area.

The juice machine is dispensing 100% real orange juice but it is correct that cranberry juice is a cocktail as are the CB juices in any store as cranberry is a very sour fruit, The other two options are enhanced water with strawberry and kiwi flavor and as last filtered water which is set there for your convenience. I am a regular Best Western customer. Steer clear of this hotel. There are other Best Western options nearby. Staff were rude, the coffee set up is ridiculous, and the walls are paper thin. I travel to Monterey regularly. I will never stay hear again.

The room was spacious and quiet. We stayed 2 nights. The hotel is conveniently situated to access Monterey amenities. Continental breakfast was more than adequate, although there was limited space within the lobby in which was available. Staff were all courteous an£ helpful.

"Two night stay"

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights on our way from SF to LA. Check in staff (Denise) was very helpful and even tried to text us when our room was ready. Easy to find with excellent (free) parking. Good Wifi coverage in the rooms too. Room was spacious and good storage and the bathroom was functional. Breakfast was a self service in the lobby - free but rather chaotic when busy. Not enough seating at popular times and the layout of the various items doesn't work as everyone stops everyone else from reaching what they want. Too cramped and quite noisy if busy. Otherwise a good stopping point.

Have stayed here 3 times in the past year and it is always a pleasure. The staff is very pleasant and always willing to help, the rooms are large and always clean and neat and the location is perfect to see everything in Monterey all within a 10 minute drive of the hotel. The De Anaza in Monterey is located with easy accesses to the freeway and offers a nice stroll to the beach. There are several family friendly restaurants close by as well. The rooms are large, clean, and comfortable and the staff is always friendly. Can't go wrong staying here! :)

"Overpriced"

This is an okay motel in a rundown part of town. The other motels in the area are of the Motel 6/rundown Mom an Pop variety. They charge the same rates other motels charge in the upscale tourist areas of Monterey. I would not book again based on poor value, but would either pay thesame rate for one of the upscale tourist venues or try the Motel 6 across the street and save the money.

They are charging 475$ during the jazz fest we used points. Rooms are nice but maybe needing some updating. Great location. Not sure about restaurants close by. Rite aid is across the street. Be careful lots of traffic.

We were surprised with no air conditioning. Front desk offered a fan and told us to open the window. We booked for two nights but only stay one night there. We could also hear the next door people talking when the window was open. Front desk staffs were very friendly but I probably would not stay there again.

Pulled in late at night to an unenthusiastic agent at front desk and several depressed and very large Koi fish in a very unenthusiastic tile pit at front entrance. these poor fish were in about 4 inches of water and couldnt move around. no air bubbles, no gravel, no where to hide. In the morning a child had his hand in water and these fish were at least 12inches. room was meh!

Rooms were clean, staff friendly and the breakfast was decent. The walls in this hotel are made of paper, so if its a good nights rest that you need, hope for quiet neighbors. You hear every noise from doors slamming to people talking. There is no air conditioning (it is 2017), so if its warm and you need to open windows, get as far away from Denny's as possible. Very loud Saturday night.

We arrived at the hotel and was very impressed by the spacious rooms! Great amenities. However, I was surprised that it didn't have air conditioning. Later, after doing some research, we found out that most hotels in Monterrey don't have A/C. We ended up being very comfortable with the room temperature during our sleep. (The room had a big ceiling fan for those interested.) The manager was helpful with our questions about restaurants around the area as this was our first visit.

I was surprised by the lack of air-conditioning in the rooms. The temperatures worked out to be generally okay, but to keep the room temperature okay meant opening the windows to the main road. I heard vehicles going down the road all night.

Visiting Monterey Bay Aquarium with our Granddaughter. This was a wonderful place, friendly, clean, great breakfast, comfortable room. Overall, a great place to come and rest after playing. Really nice large room. clean and very comfortable. We found it a little bit out of town but would not put us off staying again. Helpful Staff and friendly. Breakfast was in the lobby area, not enough room really for everyone. Overall a very comfortable stay.

Hotel was great, about 3.5 Millie's from aquiriam but leaving aquiriam to get back to hotel at 4:30 traffic was so bad took us 40mins to get back. We also stayed in rm 102 and hallway was very noisy you can hear everything from inside room. Everything else was great, especially being so close to restaraunts & cvs.

It's a nice hotel with friendly staff. Room was clean and large. It's expensive but any less won't get you much in Monterrey. The location is an easy drive into town or a 15 minute drive to the infield at Laguna Seca. The Jacuzzi was clean but could have been warmer. And the pool area is right on a major street. As I said, basic.

Excellent reception and hospitality from the desk clerk on duty, we were stranded at 9:pm with no room, we used a booking company that we were advised they booked a room at this Best Western for us, we gave them our credit card number to reserve the room, when we arrived we did not have a reservation, the desk clerk assisted us with contacting this company and demanding the charge be taken off, we contacted our credit card company also, after a stressful couple of hours the clerk checked us into on of the last two room available, I just cannot compliment enough the outstanding service this Best Western Clerk provided.

Although the spa was not working during our stay our family enjoyed this hotel. We did have noisy neigh it's who made noise throughout the night but overall we were pleased with the value we received for our money. The hotel is mentally located and close to restaurants.

This is a great hotel to stay at when on the Central Coast. It is close to all of the sites in Monterey. It is very quiet and the rooms are large. The beds are comfy. We stayed with our children and added a roll-away bed. There was still plenty of room to move around. It was nice to be able to go to the beach and see the sites without the expense of some of the other hotels.

"Exceedingly Noisy Guests - Staff Did Nothing"

Guests a couple of doors down and across the hall were making lots of noise in the halls, going up and down the stairs repeatedly, in the parking lot, M-F fights, making numerous short trips in their cars, setting off car alarms, yelling obscenities, general yelling. All of this ocurred between 11PM and 4 AM and the front desk night manager did absolutely nothing. They should have been kicked out. I got very little sleep, most of it between 11PM and 12AM. The rooms were larege and nicely kept, the koi pond in the breakfast arera is nice. The hoterl has potential if they can find the right staff.

When we arrived at the hotel the exterior was nice, but we laughed at the size of the pool, much smaller than the picture. The spa wasn't working. Our room was nice and clean thought the tv was small. The employees were friendly. Had no central A.C. You could order a fan to your room. Probably wouldn't stay again.

We come down every year for a golf trip and always stayed at a chain down the block. NO MORE... BW De Anza was so much nice, more modern and very comfortable. Rooms were big and clean. "Average experience, only worthwhile if you are going to a festival @ Fairgrounds"

We stayed here for the Monterey Pop festival & the location was great - 5 min walk to the Fairgrounds. Everything else about the hotel was average. Was pretty disappointed by a sad looking tiny pool (if you can even call it that). Not sure what's going on with the fish in the tiny pond in the lobby. It's obviously way too small for the fish. Sad to look at. For some reason there was a charge for parking as well, though the staff waived it after we expressed discontent of not being aware of the paid parking.

Located near the airport and on a busy street. Has no a/c and was a very warm day so had to leave windows open otherwise it was too hot. Lot's of people out walking by talking loudly until well past midnight. One mattress was lopsided and in terrible shape.

Clean hotel with adequate amenities and limited but adequate breakfast. Rooms are very large and so are the bathrooms. In a great central location and next door to the Monterey Cookhouse restaurant which has great staff and owner...very personable. Nice to just walk over to at the end of the day. Food was fantastic...we ate there both nights because it was so good !! Would return to here in the future as was really good price for the area.

Just for a night. Very clean, service people like their jobs, everyone was kind and courteous. It´s what it is, when you stay in a BW. You know what you get. Staying there is almost a good experience. No surprise in both directions - good or bad. Thats what we want.

Huge clean room, lovely helpful staff. Just a few minutes drive to Cannery Row and the Aquarium. Breakfast was fine, there were sandwiches that could be microsaved along with the usual items. Our parking was free so not sure what the other reviewer waas talking about. Would recommend.

The rooms are spacious, nicely appointed and sparking clean. The front desk is incredibly friendly and helpful. Parking is a few dollars more, but conveniently located. The included breakfast is generous and varied. Be aware that when they're busy, they sometimes temporarily run out of various items. And, seating is somewhat limited. (Seating is not NEAR the lobby but rather IS the lobby.)

The hotel may be a little bit hard to find, but it may be the best value in the city with free WIFI, breakfast, and parking at a very reasonable price. The room is clean and big enough for family with 2 adults and 2 kids. The location is also close to all attractions.

Nice room (altho a strange sort of antiseptic smell that dissipated when we opened the window), convenient location and very nice people, clean, comfortable bed and working TV but a few things that we were surprised at. No air conditioning in the rooms so you have no choice but to open the window. We faced the street and were right on the street, a very busy street. Quite noisy pretty much all day/evening. The swimming pool is right on the sidewalk, no privacy. To top it off, we were under the flight path of Monterey's airport. Not a terribly busy airport but it sure did add to the traffic noise. Great breakfast. Adequate parking. I don't think we'd stay here again because of the noise.

Heads up, the sign out front now just says Best Western, so we missed it the first time by, even though we knew it was in the area. Also, there is an $8/day parking fee that just started in May. Location is good, easy access to downtown or Highway 1 to go other places. Rooms are comfortable, with some windows that can be opened to allow in fresh air. If you run cool while sleeping, you may want to ask if an extra blanket is available at check-in.

Very clean and comfortable. Friendly staff. Large room with two queen beds and large bathroom. Free wifi, refrigerator. The breakfast was minimal. They didn't have eggs but they did have microwavable egg/sausage muffins which is a first I have seen. I did not eat them but they were in the refrigerator with the yogurt. This was close to Monterey Aquarium where we were going and fishermen's wharf.

Best Western has become one of our go to hotels to stay at while away. The staff and service has always been great. The rooms are affordable free breakfast is an wonderful perk. Some locations are pet friendly, therefore bringing our two dogs has been an added bonus!

"Good for a night passing through"

Overall stay was good. Friendly staff, clean, nice lobby and typical continental breakfast (fruit, yougart, store bought muffins). We stayed on first floor near lobby. Walls were paper thin and you could hear everythng, oeople talking, walking, windows didn't provide much sound protection either. Flushing toilet and running faucet were super loud. If you are sensitive to sound and looking for something quiet this may not be for you. neighboorhod a little sketchy with adultbbook store arcoss the street. We couldn't figure it heater so was colder than I would like. But we didnt bother asking for help as we got in late. The water pressure in shower fairly week and water didnt heat up past luke warm.

This hotel is about 10 minutes drive to the Monterey Wharf outside the main tourist area though there were lots of other hotels/motels on the street. It looks like it was built or renovated recently. Lobby area was very nice - breakfast was tasty and sufficient. Loved the koi pond. Rooms were very generously sized, clean and well appointed. Nice pool. Very nice and helpful staff.

A nice hotel tucked away in Monterey. In a strange neighborhood near an adult movie theater however. Not much to do near the hotel but otherwise it was fine. I stayed in my room because the view inside the room was nice.

Very nice and clean all rooms. Pool was clean but needs to be warmer around April - May. My 9 yr daughter couldn't wait to get to the pool but when she got in less than 5 mins she ended up in the Jacuzzi. The happy smiles were short lived... :-(

The Best Western De Anza Inn is consistently delightful!!! We have been staying there for the past three years, and it just keeps getting better. Everything is always clean, fresh, and comfortable. The staff is very friendly, helpful, and personable; on top of this, the location and value make it the perfect place to stay in Monterey.

Check-in was quick and easy. Room was large, nice and bright and, very clean. Free parking and internet were included. Our bed was extremely comfortable. After walking around Monterey and Caramel By The Sea for more than several hours it was so nice to come back to hotel and spend some relaxing time in the hot tub. Very friendly and helpful staff. American style breakfast was also provided

Been coming to same hotel for last 38 years 2-3 times a year for 2 nights every visit, several of my friends have been guest at this hotel and everyone been very satisfied. They go out of their way to please me every time I been at this hotel I wish they had same exact staff and service at every town I go for business

The facility is extremely clean and attractive. The staff friendly, helpful and personal. The location is central to all attractions in the area as well as regular home-town places. The price makes it affordable for families, although the weekends are much higher than weekdays. I only wish the hot tub was open till 10:00. It and the pool closes at 9:00 pm.

"This is a good Best Western"

This is a clean, well kept Best Western within a short distance of the wharfs and other nice areas. It is about 2 miles from the main wharf. The staff is very friendly and the room was nice and comfortable. The only serious issue is the breakfast area! It is 4-5 tables stuffed into the lobby. It is always packed and LOUD. The food is ok buffet food with the usual items. You will be happy here ....just eat breakfast and the Denny's next door.

Tired from traveling all day, we were greeted by a friendly, efficient young man who upgraded us to a suite. It was a wonderful room! The room was clean, large and had everything we needed. The hotel is conveniently located and parking is easy. They have an elevator which makes parking in the back easy. They offer a breakfast. Everyone was friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay and would stay here again.

Having stayed at the De Anza many times over several years, I highly recommend it for its convenience and the quality of the rooms and staff. It is quiet and has easy access(centrally located for the average traveler) to all of the Monterey Peninsula (which can be confusing to navigate).

Your staff always goes beyond their normal duties to help us have a pleasant stay. They are not like the major hotels who only do things when asked. We have stayed at Conrad, HIlton, Sheraton, Marriott, Portola Double Tree etc and your personnel staffing although smaller than the big chains are friendlier and much more helpful. We will be back for our future conferences and pleasure.

This Best Western was quite modern looking and the rooms seemed nice and large. The king bed rooms which we in our group had were very big (with one exception) and the roomy feel was quite appreciated. There are some rooms nearer the elevator that are smaller square footage so try to get one near either end. The room was quite clean and the bathroom was also large and clean. Overall we had a good experience, mostly from the nice rooms and the wonderful woman who checked us out in the morning. This was in contrast to the not so nice experience with the gentleman who checked us in. I will just leave it that he did not attend the school where you learn to treat the customer like a customer. Maybe he was having a bad day. The breakfast in the small breakfast area was really quite good and had a number of very good choices - well above what I am used to with Hampton Inns. There were hard boiled eggs, waffles, yogurts, fruits, cereals, bagels, toast, and pre-wrapped egg/sausage sandwhichs to heat up in the microwave. I was quite impressed with the overall selection. Next to the breakfast area and elevator was a business station area where you could use the internet or print boarding passes. There is plenty of free parking down below and it is easy access to Fremont Street and off/onto the freeway. The only drawback is there is really only a Denny's in walking distance. We however did order Pizza from a great place with free delivery. The value is well worth it - no wonder it ranks quite high in Trip Advisor!

Excellent choice!! Comfort, value, and great location make the DeAnza a travelers dream. The staff is friendly and sees to your needs. Our son graduated from CSUMB and now lives in Monterey...it's our home away from home! :)

We had a group of people in town for a conference. The manager Cecile did a great job helping us with our group reservations and also providing a meeting space (which she did without us asking). It was helpful to have a hot breakfast available and everyone in the group was satisfied with the motel. We will go back again. There are fancier places but for us the price was right.

"Great staff and Fishy Lobby"

The staff and the room were marvelous. The "fishy" refers to the big Koi pond in the lobby. I stayed in two different rooms during my stay (king and handicapped) and both were large and well appointed. Hotel is close to everything, parking was ample. Breakfast choices were a little light, but I will stay here again, when I return to Monterey.

Good beds. Solid wifi. Friendly staff. Located a few blocks from the Pacific Coast Highway, it is near shopping and restaurants. The breakfast is average and the views aren't spectacular. But the value, comfort and service are great.

Clean large rooms, located on busy road but the price and helpful staff make up for that. Not in central Monterey but only 10 minutes by car easy ride. No air condition but windows open and ceiling fan do a good job. Clean small pool and hot tub with good jets across the parking lot (10 steps) from hotel. Good quality breakfast of Best Western variety Only concern is if you like large fluffy pillows, you may want to ask for an extra pillow since these were smallish and flat.

My family and I decided on a last minute trip to the Monterey Bay Aquarium last week so I searched and searched for the perfect hotel for my husband, 2 small children and for myself to stay two nights where we would not be afraid to turn off the lights for fear of some critter crawling around our heads at night. We arrived to the hotel in the evening and were politely and promptly greeted by the receptionist at the check in counter. The lobby was bright and airy with a fish pond at the corner which the children were amused to see. It also brought a sense of zen-type tranquility to the atmosphere. The lady at the check-in counter offered 2 day tickets that are sold to patrons at the hotel..which I had to refuse because I had purchased tickets through the company I work for....bummer.... She checked us in, gave us the key card to the room on the 2nd floor. As we entered the room we quickly noticed how clean everything was from the ceiling fan (more on that later) to the carpet(more on that too). bed linens were clean, bed was comfortable, bathroom was clean and even though it had only one sink there was ample room to maneuver if there was more than 1 person in there with you. The mirror did not fog up when I took a shower either and that was a plus. So about the ceiling fan. There is no air conditioner in the rooms in the hotel. There are ceiling fans. The weather did not call for air conditioner, the ceiling fan was sufficient to circulate the air in the room and we kept the windows, which has full functioning screens, open in the day and closed at night. The room didn't feel stuffy but if it were over 85 degrees outside I could see it being an issue if someone is not use to the heat and have to be in a room with no air conditioner. Fortunately for me and my family that was not the issue as the weather was in the 60's those days. So moving on to the carpet. It was so clean that I could walk barefoot and not be afraid that I would catch strange skin infection. I let my 1 year old walk in her socks and they didn't turn into black sole socks at the end of the day...so it passed the carpet test. Breakfast time was a money saver, you can get breakfast sandwiches, yogurt, bagels, waffle, fruit, coffee orange or apple juice, milk, cereal, oatmeal, fresh hard boiled eggs. so if you are use to a quick filling bite in the morning I would suggest that you take advantage of the small breakfast buffet that comes with your hotel stay even for the day you check out. I would definitely stay at this hotel again in the future. It's not the closest to cannery road, it's about a quick 10 minute scenic drive but worth the amount because of the cleanliness, the child/family friendliness, and the great hostess that greets you at check in and the employees that look like they like their jobs and are happy to make your stay a little better by going that extra mile.

This was a very clean facility with the friendliest staff I have encountered in quite some time. Although the views were not spectacular, it was convenient to NPS and numerous restaurants. The layout was very nice and the facility was clean and inviting. The complementary breakfast had a great selection that even included fresh waffles. Not only was it a nice breakfast, but everything was neat and organized with room for multiple people to prepare food at the same time. Highly recommend staying here.

I was totally impressed with this hotel. The room was very spacious. Also, the bathroom was spacious with a nice very long counter to put out everything you needed without getting it wet. The staff was exceptional. They went the extra mile to help with any information that you needed along with being so personable and friendly. We were so very comfortable at this hotel. I know some reviewers talked about air conditioning. However, it never was too hot for us to need it. Also, the housekeeping staff does a fantastic job. This is now our go-to hotel when we are in Monterey.

This is the best hotel. I have stayed here 3 times and every time it is perfect. The hotel is very close to the Monterey Bay Aquarium, the wharf, and Cannery Row. It is in the middle of Carmel and Salines. It is located right next to a Denny's and other excellent restaurants within walking distance.

Much better than expected. Spent 9 nights on a vacation trip to Monterey and Carmel. The room was much larger than expected with a bay window, arm chair with ottoman, upholstered bench and a sofa, as well as a king bed. There were multiple outlets in the room (although the one in the bathroom only accepted polarized plugs so electric toothbrushes had to be plugged in on the desk.) The complementary breakfast was very well-appointed with waffles, breakfast sandwiches, a variety of hot and cold cereals yogurt and other options. The hotel itself isn't new but appears to have been recently renovated so the interior of both the public spaces and the guest rooms feel modern, clean and well-maintained. The staff was exceptionally friendly and professional, exceeding service I've received at hotels charging 2 or 3 times the price.

I stayed with my family for 1 night on our tour around California. We had 2 rooms which were clean & spacious. The staff were very helpful, particularly with advised on tickets for the Aquarium. There are restaurants nearby but it is a couple of miles away from the main area. Breakfast is included & there was a good selection but very little seating & we ended up standing in the reception area to eat.

A lesser known legacy of the famous explorer Juan Bautista de Anza, is this rather nice hotel named in his memory. We spent one night at the De Anza Inn and it was a very pleasant one. We received a warm and friendly welcome, check in was quick and staff were very helpful. We had a King Bed Suite, which was massive and we all slept very well. It was on the bottom floor and very quiet. There was a spacious lounge with a Murphy bed for the kids and “breakfast nook” which would be considered a decent sized kitchen by many. The suite wasn't modern and it was a little tired in places, but clean and very comfortable. The location is convenient, right off Highway 1, but you will likely need to drive or take a taxi to downtown, Fisherman's Wharf, the Aquarium etc. Having said that, I will not recommend a taxi in this town because they appear to be driven but absolute lunatics and I have serious reservations concerning the sobriety of the drivers. The complimentary breakfast looked good although we didn't partake because it was quite busy, so we chose to live it up at Denny's right next door. The outdoor pool was freezing, but that didn't discourage our children. This was our first time in Monterey so we don't have any points of reference when it comes to accommodation, but I would definitely stay at the De Anza Inn next time we are in town.

1. Pretty big well lighted rooms with well maintained clean beds and bathroom 2. Sleep quality is very good with almost zero noise and no light coming trough the curtains. 3. There is a ceiling fan in the room which I found to be very useful in case you don't want to put the A/C on. 4. the breakfast spread was impressive. From breads, to cereals, to bagels to muffins to yogurt they had it all. Only the breakfast area is very small and sometimes you'll have to stand and eat during peak hours. There are Dennys and other restaurants adjacent to the hotel. Lots of options in walking distance. 5. There is no view of the ocean though and you're around 2miles far from it when you're staying here.

Complimentary breakfast was great. Staff was friendly, but hotel is basic and dated. A bit pricey for the quality, probably because it's a labor day long weekend. May look for another higher end hotel and pay a bit more extra next time.

"Hidden Gem"

Stayed at this hotel over Labor Day weekend for a wedding. Friendly staff, daily breakfast included and QUIET. Slept with the windows open each night. I encourage the staff to keep the extremely clean conditions as well. It really shows. Great value for the money compared to other hotels in the area.

The room was quiet, clean, and well sized. No A/C but room has a ceiling fan, which is great. Bed is firm. Too firm for me, but I am obese, so it is probably fine for most. Loved having the microwave and refrigerator. Hotel is kept up very well and is in a good location in Monterey to get to everywhere quickly. Guests could walk from the hotel to the fairgrounds for the Jazz Festival. Highly recommended.

The room was very nice and the staff was wonderful. We've stayed at a couple different hotels in the area and this was by far cleaner and nicer than the others. Although it is not in a beautiful location, it was centrally located so we could easily travel to the Bay, Santa Cruz and Salinas.

The staff was super nice and helpful. The free breakfast was fantastic with plenty of gluten-free options such as yogurt, boiled eggs, rice cereal, and fresh fruits. They even have a waffle iron. Our room was budget friendly and had beautiful boutique-hotel decor styling. Beds and pillows were super comfy and nice. We enjoyed having a microwave, fridge, and a safe for valuables.

We had a very nice stay here. This is an older property but very clean and well maintained. The front desk staff were very kind and helpful, Maria and Denise. Denise was very patient and helpful with my reservation. The rooms are quite large and ours had a nice bay window. The breakfast was adequate. The hotel is about a mile from the wharf area. We also bought tickets to the aquarium at the front desk at a discount. Thank you for a nice stay! A family from Michigan.

My family are regular Best Western customers. One of the reasons why we selected this property is that it has a heated pool. We were very disappointed to learn the pool was not heated during our entire stay. I mentioned this to the hotel staff and they were surprised that it was not heated and said it was beyond their control since their pool service maintained the pool. I was also surprised to learn the hotel does not have air conditioning. Since there were local fires we had smoke in our room, which added for an unpleasant stay having the need to have our window open for circulation. If they had AC we could have controlled the amount of smoke coming into the room from the window. This is the first Best Western I stayed in that did not have AC. I was also disappointed that the breakfast was in the lobby and in such a tight area with everyone bumping into each other. May I suggest converting one of the downstairs room into a breakfast room.

I appreciate your bringing the issue to the attention of the front desk as the heater had been turned of briefly for repair and they notified maintenance. Please note only one third of all properties on the Monterey Peninsula have air conditioning. Of the 8 Best Western properties only 2 have it.

We stayed here in August 2016. The hotel was clean and the staff were very friendly. Our room was huge. The breakfast was well stocked and tasty. Our room was right by the breakfast area but we never heard a thing, the rooms are very quiet. The hotel was close to all the attractions and was a great price for Monterey. We will definitely stay here again.

To be truthful being evacuated at 2 am from our home and having no were to go we accidentally walked in to the first hotel we found. We are glad to have come to this hotel, everyone was friendly, it is clean and the price is just right. Made us forget we had just lost our home and that means a lot. We only spent one night here on a California road trip and left early the next morning but the hotel is clean, comfortable and good value. The building is the nicest of the many Best Westerns we stayed in - more hotel than motel - the reception has a pond with koi carp. My wife and two daughters shared a room with two queen beds. It was at the front of the hotel facing the road but passing traffic did not bother us. The surrounding area is just more hotels and a few restaurants, so not 'scenic' in any way. Opposite the hotel, across the freeway are signs for an adult bookshop and 'theatre' but overall the area does not feel sleazy. It is close to the sights of Monterey and nearby Carmel. Fine for a place to lay your head while passing through or spending the days out and about.

There was a very bad odor on the whole floor. The parking lot was very noisy, which is a problem since there is no A/C so the only way to get any cool air is to open the windows. The paint was bubbling up in the shower, indicating probable mold issues under the paint. One of the bubbles on the ceiling was about the size of my hand. Also the breakfast area is very tiny and during breakfast the staff wheels large carts of dirty laundry and garbage through where guests eat, which is already very crowded. Very poor execution of service. Seems like they are more concerned with being able to say that they offer breakfast rather than how they actually perform such an amenity.

The hotel itself was fine, pretty clean. Pool was small. Breakfast was the usual carb-fest. Not walking distance to Wharf, etc, but pretty easy drive. Good for one night but recommend paying a bit more to be closer to action, especially if you are traveling with kids.

We were on a trip from LA to San Francisco and stayed at the De Anza. I wish we hadn't! We chose the hotel for the pool but were told it was closed because of the chemical change. We were told it would open the next day but it didn't. I didn't see any cleaning activity around the pool at all. The staff were unhelpful and breakfast was awful. I am judging this Best Western against the Best Western The Pepper Tree Inn Santa Barbara where we had stayed the two nights previously. A wonderful little gem with amazingly friendly staff.

I chose this hotel for a four day stay on a trip to San Francisco and Monterey. The room was wonderful, large and clean. The staff were very friendly. One of the best hotels I've stayed in with Best Western. We hated the thought of leaving this hotel for the tiny room we had in San Francisco for a lot more money! Highly recommended. This is where we will stay on our next trip to Monterey.

I've stayed at this Best Western for over 6 years. The breakfast, rooms, beds were better. They started cheapening everything as most business do. Not bad, but inflated prices. For me it's a great location. Not bad, but getting there.

We chose the hotel as part of our Highway One drive, and near the 17 mile drive. We arrived rather tired after a very slow drive, due to major traffic jams (post accident). We received very warm welcome. The hotel looks fairly new, and is an interesting design, ie not just a big boring 'box'. our room was immaculate and large. It had a lovely view over houses - but not quite to the ocean. Very quiet. Breakfast was OK rather than special, but being small there was a nice friendly atmosphere. We had two very comfortable nights at the hotel, and would highly recommend it

One of the nicest rooms we've ever had. Large and quiet. Easy to get to everything. Would absolutely stay here again. Front desk girls were really nice, breakfast was good and pool was clean. Had restaurant right next door as well as grocery store just down the road.

The hotel was on a busy street (business 1), so it's somewhat noisy. (Not too bad after closing the window.) The main parking was in the rear and was small, and not on a flat surface. I was being challenged driving out as the exit was narrow. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Their fruit supplier was great--the orange in the lobby was delicious.

This was my first stay at a Best Western Hotel and if the others are of the same quality, then I will always try to stay at a Best Western. The rooms were from what I could tell soundproof, comfortable, clean, with a nice sized bath, a refrigerator, coffee maker, and came with a delicious continental breakfast. A great value. A customer could not ask for anything more for the price. I will definitely stay at Best Westerns in the future.

We took our family, 2 adults and 3 kids aged 6, 5, and 1. We usually stay at BW because they are consistent and on the budget end of the mid-range hotel chains. The location is good for easy access to CA-1, downtown Monterey, and Cannery Row. We also made it over to Carmel in about 10-15 and to Salinas in about 20-25. It felt like a safe, family-friendly area, with a bowling alley and restaurants next door. It's obviously not a high-end hotel and I think reviewers who expect that at this price point are being quite unfair. It IS however very pleasant, clean, and a great value, meaning you get extras above your standard room including: free wifi which worked well, a complimentary continental breakfast that was not exactly fantastic but very solid (sandwiches, waffles, breads), free parking, and a small pool and spa for a little something extra to do. There is no guest laundry and no restrooms in the lobby/ breakfast area, which for me would have really made the "extras" complete. There is a nice koi pond which is also above and beyond your standard BW. The staff was attentive and very friendly and helpful.

The rooms deserve a 4/5 stars because of the following: Lack of available outlets - especially next to beds. Room(s) are dated, but are good enough. The tv screen is fine in terms of placement and picture quality. Hooked up an iOS device using hdmi and it looked like Just fine. The cable was the sluggish part. Although the toilet flushing sounds like an elephant, it worked.

Very nice staff, clean, adequate room - nothing fancy, but that's probably to be expected at this price point. Toiletries were not good at all - PASS! TV was flatscreen but very crappy picture and placed in not ideal location. Lack of accessible outlets in room. It's time to update the coffee makers - who really uses those now unless it's a keurig?? Lobby was cramped and there is not enough seating.

This small hotel is fine for a one night stay. It's located on the main drag of Monterey (not on the peninsula near the water). There is off street parking and a small pool. The rooms are sparsely furnished with the bare necessities (no pen/pad). The complimentary breakfast was more than adequate with yogurt, cereal, wrapped breakfast sandwiches, muffins, bagels, bread, waffle maker, fruit, juice and coffee. The staff is very nice.

I was not impressed from this hotel. If you are in a room facing the road you have noi from the road. Rooms close to the elevators experience noise from the ice machine and from children yelling at Breakfast in 7 am. Toilet is somewhat depressing with tired stream from the shower and other issues. We payed ave 180 night (tax included) and felt it was expensive.

Stayed here for Cali Roots over Memorial Day weekend. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Love a smoke free hotel. They had a nice complimentary breakfast with the usual hotel fare - waffle maker, yogurt, pastries, cereal. Nice addition were the breakfast sandwiches you could microwave (egg, cheese & sausage and egg and cheese). Front desk staff were lovely and so accommodating. I had a few conversations with them leading up to our stay and every time they took such great care. If you're heading to the fair grounds you are just blocks away, a nice short walk. My only complaint was the koi pond in the lobby. I'm sure they have someone caring for the fish but given the size and shallow water, fish fins were sticking out above water and it just made me feel sad to see them in such a small space. A tide pool would make more sense to me given the location and I'm sure they just want the lobby to look nice but really, it just left me depressed seeing the fish swim in small circles.

I stay here every year on my annual trip to Monterey for a horse show. The hotel is convenient located for me to the fairgrounds. It's clean, nice staff, consistent. My only reasons for the 3 star review is that I can't bring my perfectly well mannered dog to the room and that the rooms aren't air conditioned. Thankfully, I can find other accommodations for my dog at the fairgrounds. And I also visit in April so it's not terribly hot. This year, however, it was warm and I really wanted to be able to turn on the air. That being said, I will probably continue to stay here as long as the horse show continues.

"Customer Service: An Actual Sighting"

In town for a wedding and decided on economical lodging (by Monterey standards). Crossed my fingers on this one because you know how sometimes 'economical' can turn into your new travel horror story. No fear here: this hotel served up a big, clean room, a nice little breakfast area and plenty of parking. A short 10 min drive brings you to the Aquarium, Cannery Row and Fisherman's Wharf. However what really prompted me to write this review was the customer service, which was stellar. The front desk staff were extremely welcoming and helpful and the cleaning staff was great too. To top it off, my travelling buddy (who will remain nameless) forget her phone charger in the room. I got a phone call within hours of leaving the room to see if we could come pick it up. Alas we were almost on the plane home so they shipped it to us, gratis! Now, I live in San Diego so I might not expect the free shipping if I lived far away but wow that was really a nice touch. Will definitely stay here on the next trip to Monterey.

I have made a few trips to this propery. I enjoy that there is a breakfast and that I can enjoy the surrounding area with out any trouble. I was able to enjoy the Aquarium and have a super dinner out with my friend. I would recommend this property to other friends. I have not had any problems.

we really enjoyed our stay. the pool was warm and clean, the staff were terrific, and the room was great! the one thing i can see that might be a problem is that there isn't an air conditioner. the windows do open and a fan was offered, but as its only April we were ok with just having the window open. we will definitely stay here again.

We stayed just one night in order to break a long car trip into two shorter segments. The location was good, and the hotel itself was clean. The staff was helpful, and the restaurant next door was really good, and so close we just walked over. Most of the parking was located behind the hotel, off the street and seemed safe and well maintained. The driveway to exit was a little narrow, so I wouldn't suggest really large trucks or vans, and there was no place to park a camper or trailer.

This hotel hotel has large, neat rooms. Its is very reasonable for the price you pay and definitely good value for money. The rooms are clean, hotel staff are helpful and friendly. Nothing fancy, but more than good enough for the price you pay. The location is also quite good.

I had requested a quite room on the third floor and it was excellent, away from the elevator and very quiet. The breakfast has a lot to be desired for the price paid for the room. Staff could at least serve scrambled eggs and some bacon or sausage to go with it. The time to wait for a cooked waffle is a joke. there needs to be an additional waffle grille.

I must began this review with a shoutout for front desk clerk, Myra. What a smile and pleasing personality. She is very employers dream employee. Now on to the hotel, our room was a very large room located at the back of the hotel. You want that because they do not have AC. Open the windows to allow for cooling ocean breeze to enter the room and you will be set for the evening. The room was clean and had all that we needed for a hotel stay. It is also located very near North or South Hy 1. Free breakfast which is enough to get your day started.

What a great hotel! I was leery of Best Westerns because the ones in the Southeast (just don't stay there) are pretty bad. Not here! The room was large, clean and very comfortable. The staff was so helpful and the breakfast was great! They had waffles and breakfast sandwiches (never had that before at a hotel). Convenient location and great value and they even had a koi pond in the lobby! I'd stay here again.

Stayed at Best Western De Anza for 4 nights. Room:The room was very spacious. Had windows on 2 sides, a little sitting area, a huge bed, fridge, microwave, tv. The bathroom was spacious and very clean. I liked the place and it was cosy. Reception: Everyone at the reception was always very polite and friendly. My compliments. Breakfast: There was free breakfast served. It had coffee, porridge, fruits, sandwiches, cereal, water, apple and orange juices, muffins, waffle maker. Enough to get you started for the day. Location: About 10 minutes drive from Cannery Row. Considering the free parking and the price, a good location. Overall: I was very pleased with staying here. Friendly staff, great room and easy access to Monterey's highlights.

My little family of three took a trip to Monterey and stayed here. This hotel is nicely located and seemed to be in the middle of everything. It was a short drive to Sand City, Carmel, and the Aquarium. The free breakfast was great! Better than your average. It comes with a waffle maker and breakfast sandwiches. The only con-- the pull out sofa bed. It was hard as a rock! Definitely for little kids because only one adult could fit on it. Just something to think about when you're booking!

"Walls too thin"

The stay was very nice until I was awakened by my extremely amorous neighbors who seemed to forget they weren't at a zoo exhibit. The walls were too thin. The shower head had to be pulled very hard (it felt like it was going to break) before the water would come out. There should've been printed instructions on how to use it. The staff was very courteous and accommodating.

I always try to stay there when in the area. This hotel is very clean. Check in is great. Asked for wine glasses and blanket and got them, promptly. They only have thin blankets on the bed. Beds are still very comfortable. However, there is no way to regulate the heater. Room temperature is very cold at night without heater. Drapes are torn! No hard boiled eggs or protein for breakfast. Low cost carbs!

I stopped here to visit Monterey. It was a nice place sited in a quiet area and very close to the highway. The furniture are not the newest but it is OK. The breakfast room is very small, in fact I had breakfast in my room.

Upon arrival I was treated by the general manager like some sort of criminal since I wished to pay cash for my stay. She insisted that I pay for my stay up front even after giving her an active credit card. Next time I will stay at the Hilton instead. This was my first visit to this yearly convention and it won't be my last, just my last one here. The rest of the staff, especially the weekend staff and housekeeping were especially helpful.

Let me start from the beginning. You arrived at the property to check-in and unfortunately the credit card you presented for payment could not be authorized for the amount of your stay. You told me you would like to pay cash at check-out. I explained our policy and said to you that payment must be secured and allowed you to pay cash at check-in for your stay. I also told you that I was making an exception because a valid credit card, one that was not declined was necessary to check-in. I am sorry if I made you feel uncomfortable as that was not my intent.

Stayed here three days. ,has one spot on property for handicapped ,has parking in rear but elevator out entire stay ,all veending on second floor ,satires at end of building, was not advised of problems before arrival as they should have. We would have changed locations ,breakfast poor , waffles,sandwiches ,small area to eat , full of kids most days . Floors need cleaned with steam had to walk around building to get to car, noisy all mornings,I hope working on elevator, but lots of noise Up date on checking out they gave a discount of one day for all of problems ,said would be mid February for elevator to be repaired since had to replace entire elevator

I am sorry you did not enjoy your stay. I wish you would have let us know you were unhappy as we could have assisted you with a relocation to another Best Western property at anytime. Your room was located on the first level and I could have blocked a parking spot near the front entrance to assist you had you let me know. We offered our help at check-in with the ice and vending machines, however you never came to the front desk which is staffed 24 hours. As you mentioned, I apologized to you at check-out and adjusted your bill for the inconvenience.

I found the Best Western De Anza Inn using Tripadvisor and what a great find it was!! Not looking to spend a ton of money but wanting something nice and clean, this is the place. My wife and I stayed for 2 weeks to help with our daughters newborn and were never disappointed. The room was clean and comfortable. And as an extra bonus the staff throughout the facility is exceptional. Just genuinely nice people. Location is also excellent, not to far from anything. You also get a nice complimentary breakfast and free WiFi in your room. I'll be back, that's a promise.

I stayed at the Best Western De Anza Inn and was totally delighted with every aspect! I found it to be a lovely sanctuary conveniently located on North Fremont Street in Monterey. Check in was easy and the two women at the front desk were friendly and very helpful. I loved all of the beautiful koi in the pond next to the check in desk. I also liked the hot tub and pool. The room was surprisingly large and beautifully decorated in gold. The bed was comfortable and the room airy and light. It was great to have a good-sized refrigeratore and microwave. It was also very quiet and relaxing! Breakfast was terrific and I was so pleased that they offered egg (protein) sandwiches along with waffles, bagels, fruit, coffee and more. I highly recommend this hotel!

This place was outstanding. Extremely clean throughout. The pool and hot tub were spotless. The lady at the desk in the day was so helpful with advice about where to go in the area and where to park. The breakfast was very nice, basic, cereal, oatmeals, fruit, yogurts, and waffle maker. Fruit available at the desk all times. Quiet and pillow top mattress was wonderful. I will definitely remember this place if I'm in the area again.

Room was OK and spacious. It was clean. Hotel lobby and staff were good. Location in Monterey was good - close to downtown. Breakfast was basic. Problem was there was not much seating room for breakfast. Needs to be enlarged. Also need to provide real knives and forks - not the plastic stuff that makes it difficult to even spread butter.

We enjoyed our stay at the DeAnza Inn. We were attending a wedding. We had a one night stay. On arrival we learned the elevator was out of order. With a recent knee surgery this was not a good situation. The front desk clerk immediately tried to take care of us, and she gave us 10% off our room cost. We had a corner room that was spacious and comfortable, very clean and bright.

Even though the hotel is not within walking distance to Cannery Row, it is still very close if driving. Staff was excellent. Breakfast and internet were complimentary which was a plus. Also parking is free. I would recommend this hotel.

If you want a great place to stay and be in a location that is perfect for every attraction and eating, this is the place to stay. Accommodations are clean and staff very friendly! This is the only place to stay in the Monterey area. Other places may look fancier but the at home feeling is not there. Everyone makes you feel welcome and the rooms are very spacious and clean. It's well worth the money and is located in a very good location.

The Hotel itself is great the rooms are spacious and comfortable, so are the beds. Very courteous staff excellent service. The only problem I found is with the heating system which does not have automatic turn on and off feature and the room get too warm even at the 1 setting, but turning it off it gets too cold after a while (December) So I had to get up every 2 hours at night to turn the heating on and off.

The title says it all - this hotel has new facilities, clean comfortable rooms, very helpful staff and close to everything in Monterey/Carmel/Highway 1. Point Lobos is about 20 minutes away and Carmel merely 10 minutes. Highly recommended!

High quality all the way. Terrific service, staff, room, bed. Room was comfortable and clean. Everything worked. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Great location: Close to the wharf, Cannery Row. Easy to get to Highway 1, Point Lobos being a favorite. Don't forget the farmers market on Tuesdays. Best Western De Anza is a great value. Love it!

If you want great customer service, a clean and spacious room that is centrally located, this is the place to stay. EVERY employee was friendly and helpful. We felt like we were staying with family. The GM Cecile is very concerned that everything is perfect for your stay. Myra at the front desk was so caring and wonderful with our every need. We could not be more impressed with her genuine heart - what a wonderful person. Danielle in the buffet area is a sweetheart too! She is friendly, keeps the buffet area spotless and filled with goodies and is interested in you as a person. All of these employees care about their property and that you have the best stay possible. We will definitely stay here whenever we return to Monterrey and recommend it to anyone! They are so clean we even saw a housekeeper cleaning the hallway baseboards by hand! Where do you ever see that.

I was impressed by the service. We left our portable DVD player behind and were called the day we checked out. Unfortunately we were home by the time we picked up the voicemail. The hotel mailed it to us Priority mail, protecting it with bubble wrap AND insurance at no additional charge. That is good business!

This is an excellent hotel that won't break the bank. The rooms are very large and the staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast is OK... not great, but not bad. Get a top floor room and you'll have a high, vaulted ceiling.

"The Only Place I Stay When in Monterey"

The rooms are large, pleasant, comfortable, and spotlessly clean. They also have everything you might need (fridge, microwave, ironing board, etc.) The staff are always pleasant and helpful. (You can enter the hotel lot from only one direction on Fremont street but once you are acquainted with the traffic flow, it is easy and no problem at all). The breakfast area is small, but I always take mine back to the room so that has never been an issue with me. What stands out for me are how large and how clean the rooms are.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for three nights. We had a lovely, large corner room with air conditioning, a comfortable king sized bed and a clean bathroom. The hotel's lobby was large, modern and had a nice fountain with colorful carp fish that DID NOT smell (despite what another reviewer suggested). The breakfast selections were excellent and included pre-made breakfast sandwiches (i.e., egg, sausage, cheese & bagel) that could be heated up in the microwave. They were scrumptious! The hotel's staff could not have been more friendly and very helpful. We definitely recommend this hotel to our fellow travelers!

"Cramped spaces in and around Hotel, but the room was large and spacious"

Our room was a corner location with windows on two sides. That was fortunate, because there was no air conditioning in the hotel. By opening all the windows we could catch a cross breeze that eventually cooled the room and made it comfortable. Location is convenient to Hwy 101 so access to everything was easy. Bad luck, the power all along the coast went down at dawn the next morning and was not restored until 11pm that night. Not the hotel's fault, of course...

I made a reservation here for my wife's birthday and we started with 1 room and then we decided to take our Grandson and Daughter, now we are at two rooms. Well before you know it is a week before our trip and we need another room. The staff went all out to get us another room and we had a wonderful stay. The hotel was very well kept and the staff is great. It's a couple of miles from cannery row but well worth the short drive. I will stay there again.

Due to a widespread power outage, we were unable to stay the 2 nights we had planned. We used the family suite and it was fine for us and our daughter and son in law and granddaughter. We were a bit disappointed, the room had a bit of a smell to it, the decor was a bit outdated. But that said, it was a nice set up for us. We enjoyed being in the same room-yet having separate bedrooms and bathrooms. It seems like a lot of the hotels in that area are on the older side. The lobby had koi fish, which my granddaughter loved-but my husband had trouble eating due to the fish being right by the breakfast area and being stinky. I did not notice the fishy smell, but he did! the breakfast was nice, they had sandwiches that could be heated. Nice choices of food. Friendly lady who was taking care of the food. We probably will not be in that area again - but I think I would look at other options. I hate giving a negative review, there were some positives for sure. I just would not stay there again.

Nice hotel off the main strip and several blocks from the bay. There are a few restaurants within walking distance which lends to the making this a contender. Nice Koi pond in the surprisingly upscale lobby.

"Location could be better"

The hotel was nice and clean. Employees were friendly and helpful. We were up-graded from a queen size bed to a king. That was nice and unexpected. It was located short driving distances to major attractions. Walking distance would be even better. The hotel had and adult theater/book store across the street, which was not desirable.

"Great place to stay"

Welcoming, friendly and accommodating staff. Nice facilities. Near several eating places and accessible to beach and Cannery Row by car, 10 min. away. The breakfast used to offer eggs and sausage, miss those items, but now includes warm cereal and waffles.

"Excellent location and staff"

Rooms are fresh!!! Breakfast had nice selection to satisfy any one, staff was so nice. Easy driving to the wharf, over to the Monterey Aquarium, real close to freeway to drive over and enjoy Carmel beaches. Easy access to 17 mile drive. Has a Dennys right next door for late might snack,CVS right across the street. and a very nice restaurant next door,too. This was my first trip and I intend to go back again and without a second thought will stay at this hotel. Also hot tub and pool were clean and relaxing . Javier at the front desk is truly wonderful and has excellent customer service.

"Lovely hotel"

We stayed here a couple of years ago and returned for another stay. It is a lovely hotel. Spacious room, free breakfast and very friendly and helpful staff. Room was very bright and airey. There is an outdoors pool and nice restaurant next door called the Cookhouse. Easy drive to Cannery Row and the wharf.

Outstanding experience at the De Anza Inn! This is Monterey's secret treasure! The staff was always friendly, helpful, courteous and professional! They made us feel like family members - what a treat to stay at this property! Perfect location, great parking and incredible value!!!

"Monterey Fishing Trip"

Got this room at the last minute because the other one I had found and booked was just awful. Everyone here was very friendly and helpful. Place looked clean as soon as you walked in and the rooms were all very clean also. Nice little continental breakfast in the mornings. Would definitely stay here again.

Very clean and nicely appointed room. Staff was efficient, very courteous, and helpful. Nice breakfast. Short drive from Cannery Row and Fisherman's Wharf. Very convenient location for annual Monterey Jazz Festival--walking distance from venue. We will stay here again!

"Good "Affordable" Alternative in Monterey"

Our extended family convened in Monterey for a wedding. We booked a total of 5 rooms and enjoyed our weekend stay in the hotel. Monterey in general does not have a lot of affordable hotels, so this one is pretty good value for the money. The staff is really friendly and helpful. The lobby area has a koi pond, which is rather strange, and the pond itself could probably use a thorough cleaning. I liked that there was always coffee, tea, & apples/oranges available for the guests. I also like the open layout of the hotel that has the lobby visible from the two upper floors. Although a more direct stair connection to the lobby would've been very practical, instead of having to wait for the somewhat slow elevator. The rooms are very spacious and clean. It has everything you need. Breakfast is kind of a joke - you should just skip it and head to Denny's next door. There is also not enough space in the breakfast/lobby area to accommodate guests. The lack of A/C didn't bother us, but it was a bit tricky to open the windows for ventilation. We didn't have enough time to check out that pool, but that would've been nice. Also a gym would've been nice. All in all, it was a solid hotel for the money, and I appreciated the little quirks it has to offer (koi, open layout).

"Pay More To Stay Elsewhere"

The best thing about this hotel was the smiling staff at check in. The hotel had a funky smell. I wasn't expecting much but sadly I was still dissapointed. Found hair in the bed and my 1 yr olds feet were black after walking barefoot on the carpet for only a short time. Gross. Thank god it was only one night. One too many. I would NOT stay here again.
