Woughton House Hotel, WorldHotels Distinctive

On the edge of Milton Keynes, in the medieval village of Woughton on the Green, Woughton House Hotel offers a country-house escape just minutes from the city. The five-bay Georgian manor was built in 1813 and modernized in 1845 by Colonel Levi, and it has welcomed guests since 1983. Set in 95 acres of parkland within the Ouzel Valley, it strikes a rare balance between heritage grandeur and genuine calm. Inside, the rooms range from classic doubles to junior suites, each designed with comfort in mind, while Seasons Restaurant turns out seasonal menus in elegant surroundings. The grounds are the heart of the experience. Paths lead through the Ouzel Valley parkland past a rose-covered arch and mature trees, and on a still morning the only sound is birdsong drifting across the meadows. The location is a gift for the curious. Bletchley Park, home of the wartime codebreakers, lies a short drive away, and the Grand Union Canal towpath offers gentle waterside walks. Central Milton Keynes, with its shopping and theatre, is barely ten minutes off, yet the contrast could not be greater. After a day exploring, return to the manor and watch the light fade across the parkland from the terrace. Book your stay at the Woughton House Hotel, WorldHotels Distinctive.
