Best Western Premier Why Hotel

Comfortable, friendly hotel in a great location. Room was clean, comfortable and surprisingly quiet given the central location. Staff were friendly and helpful, and breakfast was good. Secure underground parking is available about 100 metres away.

The rooms were really nice and good location. Loved the value of not having room Cleaned earning you a token for a free drink in the bar. Also liked the shower gel/ shampoos, quite good breakfast selection and touches like leaving shortbread and juice and water in the minibar for guests. Sadly a few times the staff let it down as both days we came back to our rooms to find the key card had been deactivated so had to come back to reception to ask to get it sorted and neither time got an apology for this and one of the times was actually met with some aggression from the staff member, who then seemed to deliberately not speak to us for the rest of our stay.

Great stay here! Clean, comfy room with friendly accommodating staff. Facilities good - lovely shower (although leaked under door!) and comfy bed. Tbh we could do with bigger towels and more coffee pods for the machine but reception were happy to give us more. Toiletries provided were really good so no need to bring any for a short stay. Breakfast was excellent and worth the cost. Lift the was the zoomiest I have ever been in!!! Would definitely stay here again - especially as the location to city centre was just a short walk.

Arrived at hotel four attempts to gain access to the room on eventually getting in mirror was cracked Iron and ironing board as advertised was only available on request Tv did not work No maintainenve person available evsntually receptionist came up and after about 10 minutes manage to get bbc news and the vast choice of two films In english for £150 a night it's definately not four star avoid at all costs Best western you need to sort this hotel out the room was not obviously fully checked after previous occupant left Complained to manager waiting to see what they come up with after just offering 45 euros if the first night stay yet we have paid 806 euros for 4 nights and that does not include any breakfast or meals that is room only Definately needs overhauling And sorting out avoid this hotel at all costs Tea and coffee machine in room for two people had 4 coffee pouches and one milk sachet the coffee machine only dispensed hot water not the coffee so that did not work either this place is more like a half way house than a four star hotel No service people available Don't get ripped off here Waiting to see how they are going to resolve this?

Superb location so close to everything in Lille, lovely hotel, this was my second time visiting this year and it did not disappoint the second time. Wonderful staff, always so friendly and eager to assist with whatever your needs are. Would stay again whenever I had the opportunity

Stayed here for 2 nights at the end of our continental road trip. Ideally placed to see all the sights of Lille it is a great reasonably priced hotel. The rooms are very comfortable with everything you need. The breakfast is great with lots of variety on offer. All staff are welcoming and helpful.

Very good hotel choice to stay in Lille! Perfect location, parking just around the corner (30 seconds walk). We stayed in a beautiful sunny quiet suite. Super nice and helpful staff.

Great location. Not far from the train station. Our room was spacious and clean.

The hotel is clean and well run but by 0915 breakfast items are not being replaced. Ham and fruit salad all gone. It's crowded too if it's cold outside

This hotel was great, we went as a birthday present for my parents, and the Best Western Premier Why Hotel was perfect. We got adjoining rooms, which where lovely. The hotel's decor was really attractive, the facilities great, the staff were friendly, and the hotel was in a great central location without being noisy.

Excellent location, staff were very friendly and always happy to help when needed. The room was clean and big, and the shower was huge! I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone. Big shout out to Ana in the bar, she was the most wonderful girl, always making sure we were ok and always happy to see us, the service from Ana was exceptional! She definitely made our trip extra special!

Came here to visit the christmas market and this hotel is within a 5 minute walk so in a great location, the staff are so friendly helpful and very polite and the bar is very nice with a good selection of beers and wines with great service. We had a nice large room with a great large bad and it had a great shower and if you didnt get your room cleaned you got two tokens to use in the bar which is a super idea there is a good choice for breakfast again with a nice polite waitress , we parked the car in there underground car park which is just across the road. This is a great hotel and the staff are so nice a great place to stay if you are in Lilie

Everything about the hotel is excellent. All of the staff are extremely helpful and polite. The rooms are very clean and comfortable with a powerful shower and nice l'occitaine toiletries. The bar is also very good and reasonable priced. Breakfast was very good, it would be nice to have a better selection of fruit. We particularly enjoyed the selection of tea and fresh bread / pastries. The hotel is very conveniently located near to the city centre. Parking is also convenient. We will definitely return

I am not in the habit of writing reviews. That being said, my experience at this lovely hotel was so incredibly nice that I absolutely want to share this experience! The BW Premier Why hotel is perfectly situated in the city center. Lille divided it's city center by 2, old town and the regular city center. They are next to each other, and all is very duable by walking. And that Lille has a lot of charm and nice shops, that knows everybody. Right? So apart from the great stay at Lille, this review is about the hotel. We were met by the receptionist Nathan, which was so friendly and nice and went out of his way to make just the check in a memorable one. He took time to share all relevant information about the hotel & room, walked outside with us showing where we could park and gave us some nice tips about the city. And even gave us a present, a beautiful bottle of locally brewed beer. Thank you Nathan! We had booked an upgrade for a larger room and we loved our room. It was spacious, very clean, well maintained and all kinds of very much appreciated amenities. I will not spoil the surprise, but we were very impressed. Later on in the evening we had a drink at the hotel bar, with again super friendly staff and we drank a lovely cocktail. The breakfast in the morning was presented with eye for detail and a wide selection of things you could take. I am not a big breakfast eater, but all that I had was very good (coffee/espresso delightful!). And again we were met by two staff members who were very kind and friendly and asked in between if we needed anything and if we were happy. Well, we were happy... We had interactions with a few members of housekeeping, and again, super friendly! And did I already mention that during our whole stay everything was clean, organised & tidy. Thanks to all of Housekeeping for making that possible! During checkout we had a lovely lady who answered a few questions we had, and finished our stay in the most friendly way. By now, you must think I was paid for this review. I really wasn't. Should you want to stay at a nice, clean and friendly hotel with people loving their job in a very central location, than I hope you would consider this hotel. It is a nice 4* hotel with at least 5* service. Could you ask for more?

Pros: lovely staff, great location, nice toiletries and bedding. Cons: My room was so badly laid out (room 407). Standard room but could hardly get past the bed as there was tiny gap between the end and the window. My friend was in 406 (same room type) and had loads of room. My room smelt of damp - all coming from bathroom. Room was very noisy at night (Fri/Sat) with people shouting/walking past into early hours of morning plus loud music from cars/flats. Hotel was boiling hot and uncomfortable in communal spaces. Room was either too told (no heating on) or too hot (heating you couldn't control the temperature - was on 22 degrees if you put it on and boiling). They said on welcome that you could put a 'green clean' sign on room to get just a quick tidy and in return they'd leave a drink vouche for the. I did this but didn't receive one of those. Wouldn't stay again.

The hotel has a lot going for it: great location, good food and good service, especially at the restaurant. The quadruple room was great for our family of four. The only downsides were the heat of the room that made it uncomfortable to sleep, even with the window open, and the dirty pillows. We probably could have gotten new pillows, but I only noticed how dirty they were after my kid took one of the pillow cases off on the last night..

Perfect location in the heart of Lille. Great service, super clean room with all comforts, and an amazing breakfast. Even a handwritten welcome note in our room. Excellent value, highly recommended!

The hotel is very well located in the center of Lille. The reception is professional, friendly, and competent. The room is very nice. The amenities are excellent for a 4-star hotel. The hotel is highly recommended.

Spacious and clean room, with TV and coffee machine. Staff all polite with a good command of English. Close enough to the main attractions but far enough away not to be bothered by noise at unsociable hours. Would be happy to stay here again.

The airco in our room was broken. This was not mentioned to us. We found out when we returned to the hotel late at night. There was a big fan. Rotating hot air in the room. Windows could not be opened. It was very hot in the room. When we checked out and mentioned our complaint the lady said that she could not do anything for us since her manager was not in. She would contact us on Monday. We never heard back from the hotel…. Really bad experience.

Have visited a couple of times every year it's friendly and clean and a lovely Breakfast and the lunch is spectacular we went 1 time when the rugby World Cup was on there given out hats and sunglasses and a miniature ball It's good for a short walk to the market and try the food in the indoor market And ladies clothes in the outdoors market just before you enter the outdoors market And take the train to Brugge it's over the border Chocolate galaxy Be careful of fake ones We will be going soon as birthday's gift

Small modern hotel very close to the centre - also handy for Lille Flandres station and trams to wonderful Musée La Piscine and Villa Lavrois. Our prestige room on the 4th floor was large and light, with one wall of windows overlooking the street. Large bathroom with good shower, comfortable bed with sockets and lights, good TV and aircon. Free minibar with soft drinks and snacks was a nice touch. Also a coffee/tea machine. Not much storage though. No public areas apart from a few chairs in Reception and a rather cramped restaurant/breakfast room. A reasonable breakfast selection, but why no tomato, cucumber etc. with the cold meats and cheeses? Plates were rarely cleared, so table could get cluttered. Staff were all friendly and helpful. We didn't try dinner in the hotel and plenty of restaurants within walking distance - we'd recommend La Fossetta and Belleza. We would certainly stay here again.

A really comfortable hotel, centrally situated to most attractions and also easily walkable to key visitors areas, not to mention Euro Lille! Staff are amazing and showers could be 7* I would happily stay there again and therefore recommend it highly

Travelling home from a relaxing few days at the Why. It's a great base to explore Lille, quiet yet within easy walking distance of the city centre. The staff were all tremendously welcoming and helpful, patiently listening to my poor attempts at French before replying in excellent English. All in all a great place to stay.. ,

stayed here two nights over the easter holidays hotel is very central, just a few mins walk from the mail square check in was prompt , we had a suite with a great balcony room was spacious, bed huge and seriously comfortable bathroom nice size , great rainbath showerhead and L'occitane gels and shampoos nice big tv too, massive plus was that all the football games were on it so perfect if youre missing your EPL!! we didnt have breakfast there, was a little pricey but plenty options nearby staff were really friendly throughout too and the weekend experience there was excellent as a result highly highly recommended and will certainly return

Hotel is located right in the city center, a few minutes walk from the metro station (line 1). Nice room, spacious bathroom with a gigantic shower cabin. Staff at the reception desk were very friendly and helpful. Great same day laundry service! Late evening snacks availability at the bar/restaurant was a real bonus. I wish that business luck and prosperity. If in Lille again will stay there with no hesitations.

I would recommend this hotel. It's clean, the beds, while the typical firm European mattress was comfortable and the staff was great. But, we did have some issues. This was an unusual hotel. The building is smaller than it seems on the website and its modern design makes it stand out among the older buildings surrounding it. I really liked the hotel overall, but I wasn't happy with one of the two rooms I booked. Each room has windows that are essential floor to ceiling. In the room given me, there were a total of 4 windows. Very unusual. That includes the one in the bathroom. All the other windows have blackout curtains except the one in the bathroom. It had a sheer curtain that was thicker than in the other part of the room, but it made me uncomfortable using it after dark. I could see out to the street because it was on the forest floor. While not on the ground floor, I figured people on the street could see in. Luckily, my brother switched rooms with me. It was relatively warm for mid October so I tried switching on the AC. I figured it was turned off for the season because it only blew slightly cool air and the air flow was weak. I looked for a way to open the windows, but I didn't see the handle. Pretty major oversight on my part. I have stayed in hotels with windows that weren't designed to opened so I thought that was the case ther in this hotel. When I called reception about the warm room, they were quick to send up a fan for me. Later, when I went into my brothers room, I smelled a chemical odor. I later realized it was exhaust from the trucks that would idle at the red traffic light below the window. I suggested he keep the windows closed until evening, but even then the smell crept in. The windows themselves were very good. When they were closed, there was no street noise at all. I didn't mention this to the people in reception. I imagine they are aware of it. My room, right next to his didn't have that problem at all, once I realized the windows could open. Duh. :0/ The TV was frustrating. It seemed as though there was no live TV available. Neither of us could find it. No channel surfing here. There were just app icons. I'm used to being able to watch the news if it's available in English. But, I'm happy to watch it in French when it's live. Even though I only speak a few words in French, I can still figure out what is going on. They had CNN but the channel would lag quite a bit, but I could watch France 24 in English as well as BBC. But news from apps fall short compared to a live broadcast. Otherwise the hotel was very nice as was the staff. We checked in on a Saturday and the man at reception mentioned the breakfast buffet. It sounded like it was a Sunday brunch. I asked if it was included with the room and he said no. I was surprised when he said it was €18. I'm not sure if that was the price everyday or just for Sunday brunch. We just got a coffee and croissant each morning at a nearby cafe and were happy with that. No doubt it saved us a lot of money. I was surprised that breakfast wasn't free for us since I'm at platinum loyalty level. However, I was happy to hear the items in the minibar were free of charge. Sadly, there was no alcohol. Anyway, I'm not sure if that was a loyalty club benefit so you might want to confirm that when checking in. Oh, well. I would still recommend the hotel because it was very clean and comfortable and located very close to the old city part of Lille.

The hotel rang me and said they had double booked so had moved us to a sister hotel. I had paid for private parking and the other hotel only had a public car park we had to walk to which I had to pay again for parking. It was a special occasion which was totally ruined.

This is one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in! The staff were so friendly and helpful, the room had a beautiful view over Lille, and was spacious and beautifully decorated. Everything was very clean and well maintained. The extra large bathroom had an excellent shower, which is very important when travelling! We also loved the location which was just a few minutes walk to the tourist information centre and the old town square.

Very nice hotel with great location. Quiet area but with restaurants around the vorner. Very friendly staff and we stayed in a wonderful suite with a terrace. Solid breakfast and with nice bar for drinks. Everything within walking distance - sights, restaurants and shops.

I spontaneously booked my stay at the Why Hotel in Lille while I was on a work trip. I was pleasantly surprised with the hotel and the service that my colleagues and I received. Lea at the front desk was extremely accommodating and did everything to make sure we had a pleasant stay! She was very attentive and offered the type of hospitality that seems rare these days. I am used to Best Western hotels in the U.S. and I have to say this hotel is in a different category and lives up to being a BW Premier. The building is very cool and the rooms are clean and modern. I can highly recommend staying here on your next visit to Lille. Some additional pros are central location, underground parking, and a very nice breakfast. I will stay at this hotel on my next stay in Lille.

The hotel location is amazing, it is walking distance from all sorts of activities anyone can do, very convenient and view from room is amazing, ambience is very good

We had 2 separate stays within 10 days. We had a nice first stay. Unfortunately, the second stay was very disappointing. During the second stay, we had reserved 2 rooms. When we arrived, we were not able to unlock the doors with the keys provided. We were given a new key for one room but the other lock was broken. No other room was offered; just an assurance that the lock would be repaired. The second room was dirty - the bed was made but the floor was covered in food particles and a sticky red substance, along with bits of trash around the room. We had to put all our bags into one room while waiting for a new, clean room. The lock was never fixed for the first room. Our family members in the other room had to have an employee from the front desk go up to the 4th floor with them every time they wanted to enter their room - for their entire 3-night stay. The air conditioning was not operational and it was uncomfortably warm every night. We left the one working window open, causing us to be awakened all night by the partiers below. We were told we would receive free parking for our rental car for one night as compensation for our poor experiences. This did not make us feel compensated for all the inconveniences we experienced during our stay.

The hotel itself is pretty ok but the service is terrible. I had a problem with the safety deposit and asked the hotel if they could contact the bank so the deposit could be released. They refused and now I have to wait 21 days in order to get my €150 back. I expected better from a hotel like this.

Bad experience. Booked a prestige king room but when we got into it, it was uncomfortably hot. Couldn't get the air con to work so rang reception. Reception lady came to room and agreed it was too hot but said because it was February air con (to cool the room) wasn't switched on. We were moved to another room which was smaller than the one we paid for (we were reimbursed the difference on checking out). There is a coffee machine in the room but only one small sachet of milk supplied (same for our friends so wasn't an error). The worst bit was the noise outside the hotel, both nights and pretty much all night until about 4am. People laughing and shouting and knocking over bins. This happened both nights making sleep difficult if not impossible (even with ear plugs in). We were there on Friday and Saturday night so could be different midweek. I feel the hotel could do more with this, not to confront the people responsible but perhaps contact the police as they must have anti-social behaviour laws. On the plus side the hotel is well located for all attractions, it is aesthetically pleasing and the staff are nice. We loved Lille, this being our first visit, and will definitely return, but for the issues we experienced, particularly lack of air con and noise disturbance we would not return to this hotel.

We booked the junior suite which was spacious. The balcony was great. Our mini bar wasn't restocked every day which was annoying. There were no non-alcoholic beers in the hotel bar. Breakfast was very good quality and choice. I'm missing my breakfast croissant!

This is a lovely hotel in a good location in Lille. If you keep the same towels you get a token for a drink at the bar. We came to celebrate our wedding anniversary and also my birthday and the staff here made our stay special, thank you . Definitely recommend staying here.

We stayed at this hotel for couple of days. It is located in the city centre , therefore it is easy to walk to many highlights of Lille as well as restaurants and shops which is quite convenient. The hotel has a modern feeling , both the architecture and the rooms. The lobby is small, but cozy, the staff is nice. The rooms are not very big but well appointed. The bathrooms are quite big. The amenities are good,the bathrobes and sleepers are provided, as well as kettle and tea/coffee. The breakfast which we ordered to our room was nice and fresh. The only thing is that it seemed that they have a shortage of cleaning staff. When we arrived and asked for earlier check in , they absolutely could not accommodate it, which is weird, as we arrived quite early and since ther knew it, at least they could try to offer us the room at 13.00 or 14.00 instead of a standard 15.00.Also the rooms were cleaned sometimes quite late. However, overall this hotel is of quite a good value for money and suitable for both business travellers and tourists alike.

First we felt some disappointment by the size of lobby and the room. By the way bathroom was not so small and of interesting design. But after we communicated with the reception staff we were charmed with their desire to make everything for us. They were very helpful and friendly. Helped to book restaurant Saturday evening, brought us slippers and bathrobes when we asked gave good advices concerning our visit. Breakfasts were gorgeous! Small and cozy restaurant and a lot of delicious food.

Nice hotel, round windows make the building easy to find, nice decor, friendly reception, they gave us a map and tips for the city and kept our luggage after checkout. The room has a mini-bar with complimentary drinks and snacks, that's a big plus. The beds were queensize, a bit sqeaky with rustling sheets, but I must say I'm very sensitive to sounds. We were on the 3rd floor facing the front, so I used earplugs, because of the streetnoise and people talking on the streets as there were some bars surrounding the hotel. We had a corner room and there was some draft coming from the window, but it wasn't cold. The next room was very hot. We were a family of 4 split in 2 rooms. The room and bathroom were clean, but a bit moldy corners in the bathroom and some wear and tear, but clean overal. They had good blinding curtains, but still a lot of light from the alarm clock, the aircon, tv and under the door. You can see into the bathroom through a sliding door and it had christmas lights on top, that was a bit funny. Would stay again, as the location is excellent, just 1 street away from the X-mas market.

We came to visit the Xmas Market and had the lovely experience of having our room upgraded - thank you. Sotiros on reception was amazing - so friendly and knowledgeable. Our room was on the 4th floor. Beautifully ckean and spacious with a bathroom you could have held a party in and separate toilet. Towels passed the towel test. We opted for breakfast and there was plenty of choice for the buffet with freshly squeezed orange juice - made my morning! They also catered for my gf partner so she had plenty of choice. We would highly recommend for anyone staying in Lille. A 15 minute walk from Eurostar and a 5 minute walk from the main square

I booked a 4-night stay in Hotel Why for my husbands birthday in mid November. I took advantage of a good rate booking in advance and treated us to the only suite with a massive outside balcony. The room was a very good size, comfortable, with good wifi speed and there are even fresh flowers(replaced during our stay). The rainfall shower was also a luxury. I had also booked breakfast each morning and we were really impressed. There was a big range of food including cooked and many pastries. This was constantly refilled each morning and staff are there to help as well. The hotel is in a very good location in the centre of the city but being a few minutes from the main square, it is fairly quiet as well. There is a Metro station a couple of minutes walk away direct to the train station which is next door to the Eurostar station. Unfortunately it rained for most of our visit but the hotel even had umbrellas to borrow in reception! I normally stay in apartments but it was a luxury to stay in a hotel for once and what made it very special were the lovely staff - friendly and very helpful. Prior to my visit they helped me by answering a number of queries and even booked a couple of restaurants that I was unable to contact. There was just one downside during our stay and that was the fact that the lift broke down not once but twice and we were on the 5th floor! Lea and her colleagues on the front desk were so helpful by carrying our cases (they were quite big!) all the way top and back down again which we really appreciated but they shouldn't have to do that. Apparently there is no lift contract for fixing it over the weekend which seems ridiculous for a four star hotel. To summarise, this is an original friendly hotel in a great location and with great staff - they just need a better lift contract to save the reception teams' backs!

Stayed here for three nights with my son. We stayed in one of the larger rooms with a sofa bed and large double. The room was clean, comfortable and located centrally, just off the main square. The bar was OK, with a fairly limited range of drinks. We didn't eat at the hotel so can't comment on breakfast or dinner. Would stay here again if back in Lille

This was the first hotel I have experienced while in France. The front desk was very helpful. The evening bar was very clean and friendly. Indoor / Outdoor seating. The whole team worked together to make sure we felt included and engaged. Our group of 19 Rugby Fans never had a dull moment. Tell Charlotte 'Hello' for me.

We really liked this hotel. The staff were very welcoming, the room was clean and comfortable, the location was great, and we could park the car nearby. The city was hosting some of the Rugby World Cup Games and there were signs of enthusiasm for the game everywhere in the city centre, from giant rugby shirts on the buildings to rugby balls in many shop windows. There was one in the reception of the Why and the staff told me where I could buy one as they were not parting with theirs. We stayed for two nights in an attractive and quiet room, with a large and very comfortable bed and a great shower. A generous continental breakfast was served downstairs and from there the main attractions and restaurants were in easy walking distance. There was a question mark on the suitcase table (see picture) but I do not know why. In fact, I do not know why the hotel is called the 'Why', rather than for that matter the 'Why Not'. I can think of no reason why not to stay there. Hopefully we may get the chance to do so in the future. I recommend room 402 It has a question mark on the suitcase shelf and is cleverly designed.

Our Rugby tour group of 18 stayed here for 3 nights in Sept, 2023. The Why Hotel & Bar are fantastic due to the Welcoming & Friendly Staff and then the Location, Location, Location! Highly Recommend. L'Occitaine (Splg) toiletries an extra Treat!

The hotel and staff especially the front desk are so perfect they can't do enough for you and the room was literally the one we always wanted You have to go careful with the air conditioning when sleeping The fridge is full of goodies as always if you don't want your room done like keep your towels You get 2 free glasses of wine and they are quality Go for the breakfast it's good value compared to eating elsewhere Beware Sunday we just left had a lovely breakfast Most of the shops we're closed on Sunday, wasn't a few years ago We went as part of our wedding anniversary we can't go back this year sadly to ground zero we survived the blast and got married on September 11 2011 We got presented with a mini rugby World Cup ball and bag and hat We even got to see a game in Lille I can't praise the hotel up enough We will be back

Great hotel in the city, close to many shops, bars and restaurants. Spacious rooms with comfortable beds. The complimentary soft drink minibar is a nice touch and L' Occitane toiletries are a favourite. Lovely large powerful shower. Had a good weekend in Lille via the Eurostar and comfortable stay here. Would return here for a short city break.

This is hotel is a great place to stay in Lille. It is central but just out of the main centre about a 2/3 minute walk from the tourist information centre and the main square where there are plenty of places to eat and drink. There are also a couple of bars next to and opposite the hotel. The room was clean and made up every day. The bar was a nice place to have a drink. All the staff were very helpful and spoke perfect English for us and were happy to make recommendations of things to do and nice restaurants for dinner. Would definitely stay in this hotel again if visiting Lille.

Was a bit sceptical about booking a rather odd looking hotel in lovely Lille but the hotel was very nice, great location, refurbished rooms, huge walk in shower and comfy bed and linens. When we checked in I was given a room next to the elevator, returned to the from desk and asked for a different room. Julien took very good care of us and provided a different room without question. Well done! The hotel location could not be better, short walk from rail stations, near city centre, restaurants, shopping, etc...... The only reason I did not give this five stars was that the skirting boards/base boards in the room were dusty. And finally breakfast was a bit chaotic, when we arrived on Friday morning there were more tables with dirty dishes than tables that were clean. No coffee cups ready, limited number of plates, no cereal bowls and buffett not replenished often. Overall this is good value

First time staying at a best western premier and it won't be the last! Staff were very helpful and put up with my very limited French. The breakfast was great - very fresh and a wide variety. The gym could use a bit of an update as the equipment was a bit tired but other than that it was an excellent stay, very close to main sights but still cosy!

There was nothing not to like. The hotel was clean, not too far from old town, shops or eurostar station. Clean room, good breakfast choices and very helpful staff in both reception and dining room. It was also good value for money. I would recommend this to any English speaking visitors to Lille.

This is a great hotel. We had a spacious and very comfortable 5th floor room. Staff are very helpful and recommended and booked two great restaurants. The hotel have a policy if giving 2 x free drinks vouchers, per day if you do not require your room cleaned and towels changed. We appreciated this! Breakfast was very good. The only downside was noise so request a room on the side street side and on an upper floor.

Excellent hotel in a perfect location! We found this hotel to be perfectly located for our needs. We walked from the international train station having arrived by Eurostar. The hotel were not willing to check us in at 2.15pm or even check if the room was available but did let us leave our luggage. It was a 5/10 min walk from old Lille town centre, 20 mins to Westfield shopping mall and around 25/30 mins to the Citadel. All very walkable. The room was not the largest (205) see floor map for larger rooms (204 next to us was twice the size!). Drinks and snacks in the minibar were complimentary (a nice surprise) and the fridge was perfect for keeping milk and beers cold! No kettle but a nespresso machine that dispensed hot water-you'll need to bring your own tea bags (if your British) as only 2 in room-green and verbena! You could ask for extra nespresso pods for coffee and there was decaf. The gym was great (basic but everything I needed) and I attach photos as I couldn't find any before leaving.

Stayed one night at this hotel while driving through on a business trip. Found it on short notice but everything went smoothly. We called up the hotel beforehand regarding the parking situation and they provided the information without any problems. They have a parking garage with good security. The hotel itself is really nice and considering the price it's absolutely exceptional. The receptionist gave good recommendations for food (restaurant BABE in the same building was fantastic).

Hotel is located in a great area. We arrived and couldn't access our door with a key ad that wasn't working. A staff member had to let you in and out. The second night our room had no electricity. The night staff tried to figure it out but couldn't. When I complain in the morning the manager was not in so I had to pay full price.

It is six years that i sleep regularly at Why hotel. The comfort, cleanliness and gentleness of staff are well above the standard. I am a very frequent traveler - journalist - and my judgment is often severe. I seldom give positive advices on Trip advisor. in this case, i simply feel obliged to voice my satisfaction. This place is ok. It's in good location for waking to the old town shopping and restaurants. The receptionists were VERY nice and helpful. The main problem we had was our AC kept malfunctioning. We had to reset the breaker (a receptionist showed me how) every couple of hours. Normally, probably not a big deal to not have AC. But it was nice to have on a hot summer day.

We spent our holiday in the junior suite. We were lucky to be there in lovely weather so we could enjoy the luxury of the spacious terrace. The room was large too, and well equipped. All the amenities were present except ironing facilities. The minibar was replenished daily and all the contents of it were really free. The only disappointing discomfort was that the minibar was definitely not cool enough. Especially as we were there during a heat wave. The room temperature was OK thanks to the powerful but silent airco. Street noise did not enter the room, nor sounds from the adjacent room. We had comfortable nights in Why hotel. The bedding was excellent. So was the cleaning. We appreciated the offer of greening up, which meant that we kept our towels during our stay in order to improve ecological footprint. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was varied and ample. The location of the hotel was close to the Place Rihour and the beautiful Grand Place of Lille. Public transport was nearby, cheap and efficient. We had rented a parking place of the hotel in a secured parking garage close to the hotel, but we did most of our trips by metro for instance to Roubaix and Tourcoing. We had one of our best holiday experiences in Why hotel. Whole heartedly recommended!

The hotel presented well, the rooms nice and spacious. I had ample space to assemble and store my bicycle, and my corner room had excellent views. The staff was friendly and helpful. I enjoyed my stay and would go back again.

Super room with some complementary soft drinks; Great coffee machine; Lovely toiletries; All the charging points we needed; gowns and towels a plenty ! But best part was the smiling lovely super helpful staff. Fun bar too. We were out and about all day so didn't sample the food.

We have just returned from a fantastic trip at this hotel. The rooms were lovely and the staff helped make our trip even better - what a great team on both reception and also in the bar. What a lovely hotel, the rooms are really comfortable and clean. A fab central location within a 5 min walk to Grand Place and parking available if you book in advance. The rooms - lovely comfortable, clean bed and soft pillows with a lovely shower and separate toilet. There's a safe in the room and coffee making facilities. The hotel also has a "green environment" policy - if you choose not to have your towels changed you get drink tokens to spend in the bar. Win, win. Staff - really fantastic friendly staff. From arrival at reception to the lovely staff working in the cocktail bar. They are all really friendly and welcoming. Cocktail Bar - I hope the management appreciate the staff who work in the bar. A lovely welcoming, friendly, hardworking team with excellent customer service. They couldn't do enough for us and really looked after us. Thank you so much x Car park - not the best car park, really smells of urine! Located across the road from the hotel and not the best of car parks but still really appreciated. Location - a fab central location with everything you need on your doorstep. I can highly recommend Babe restaurant next door as a great place to eat. All in all I would highly recommend this hotel (and I'm fussy!) and the beautiful city of Lille.

Good size rooms in a great location. However, the rooms got very hot at night. Left the room at 0900 to return at 1400 to find the room hadn't been made up. Put do not disturb om door for a couple of hours. When we then asked for the room to be made up we were told the cleaning staff had finished for the day.

This hotel is right oin the centre of Lille. The tourist information office is 150 yards away and the main square is very close. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. All of the staff we met were friendly and helpful. There is a nice buzz to the place with a busy bar. Good value too.

almost fine location- 39o C and we reached the hotel from Dunkirk for the air-conditioning. They did not disclose the malfunctioning, suggesting that we may keep our windows open. The night was stifling and noisy (we left the windows open). Room adequate. Mini bar undeservedly below par and the drawing room areas nonexistent. Unfortunately the understaffed reception had to overpeform. He suggested that the installation was not designed for such temperatures.

We had really high hopes for this hotel in Lille as we would normally stay out of the city and was looking forward to being so central. Arrival was very easy, we had pre-booked parking and reception quickly pointed us to the garage when we pulled up at the front of the hotel at €16 a night we thought this was reasonable being so close. We had booked the Prestige room which was lovely but the air conditioning was awful, no matter how low you set it nothing changed so can only assume it was manually set by the hotel. We therefore slept really badly with it being so hot and being that we stayed on a Friday and Saturday night it was very noisy so take ear plugs. I wouldn't bother with breakfast, there is a coffee shop serving pastries nearby and would recommend this instead. The option of not having your towels etc. cleaned each night provides you with a 'token' each which we used towards a glass of champagne which was great. Overall a good hotel in a great location but due to the noise and poor air conditioning I wouldn't stay again.

Booking a Best Western, during our recent visit to Lille, France, seemed uncertain, at best. I assumed we'd be in a rather predictable and dull setting - the hotel is every bit as delightful as the city, itself. Friendly staff, beautifully designed and outfitted rooms, great proximity to the historic centre and wonderful restaurant recommendations by the desk staff. Breakfast was another treat and totally unexpected. This place is a mist-go-to, for anyone spending any time in Lille.

A member of Best Western and having stayed at this hotel several times, whether by booking it direct or as part of a larger team, I know this place well but am however very disappointed with its overall value for money. The hotel is centrally located indeed, but is nothing than a 1960s place that's been refurbished into a somewhat modern place. That's why it shocked me to see skyrocketing prices (using the pretext of a medical event in town) many times a year. Reception staff is not that friendly and will make keep you in the wait without any problem. The bar closes at 10pm or earlier, whatever your plans are. The breakfast is awful (scrambled eggs made from powder, among other oddities) with ultra poor service. The pinnacle at Best Western Lille Why Hotel is a recent online reservation that I had to cancel unfortunately 48 hours before deadline as I had to get admitted to hospital. First, the Best Western mobile app is a mess and will confuse you with terms and conditions — like you can read cancellation is free of charge and in fact it's not. Then, even if this was an “act of God”, the hotel receptionist made a point at applying the strictest rule ever and cashing in the full amount prepaid without pity — and being a Best Western patron does not make any difference, does not make them offer a voucher or any creative solution. Going back to this place again: “why”?

We loved this hotel! The rooms are newly decorated, with all the facilities you could want including, specially for the Brits, perhaps, tea making facilities. The machine also makes coffee and there is a fridge with snacks. Staff could not be more helpful offering a no fuss response to our requests. The hotel has a bar and a restaurant offering a keenly priced lunch menu as well as a range of hot and cold snacks in the bar in the evening. Locals eat here. This hotel also has the best environmental policy of any we have visited in the World - you are actually rewarded for being green!

Overall the hotel was excellent. Only problem I experienced was with the room lighting and lack of plugs. Nowhere to plug in hairdryer etc with access to a mirror. Shower/bathroom had very dim Housekeeping could be improved but the idea of a free drink instead of clean linen everyday was a great idea. The breakfast was excellent and the staff wonderful.

I got a front room with lots of windows, although it was a bit noisy at night (bar below and traffic). Comfy bed. a/c was a bit hit & miss (slow to change). Eco cleaning deal gives you a free drink in the bar if you choose to just have the bed made and the bins emptied (rather than towels, etc. changed). Hotel staff were friendly and bar staff were excellent. I particularly liked the free mini bar (yes, you read that correctly). Only soft drinks and a snack in there, but still, these little things make a difference. Can recommend (take earplugs just in case it's a bit noisy).

I enjoyed staying in this hotel very much the room was clean and elegant but very small the hotel is very small but nice it is located near the center beside all sightseeings unfortunately it was without breakfast

We stayed here for 3 nights, 4 of us in 3 rooms. The hotel is perfectly located within the City Centre. The rooms are very comfortable, very light and airy. The staff are very attentive, very helpful. Excellent value for money and we look forward to returning.

3rd visit to this hotel and still my favorite. Rooms are spacious, staff is friendly and amazing amenities such as robes, slippers, free mini bar, Nespresso, etc.. The room type I requested had 7 windows that fully open (including 2 in bathroom. This makes for a very bright room. Fast elevators, amazing breakfast, large TV with tons of channels, good wifi. What else can you ask for? Oh and an amazing Laundromat just across for washing your own clothes. Don't change a thing.

The room was really comfortable and we had a great night's sleep. Location is convenient and we would happily stay again. However, the experience was ruined by one extremely unfriendly receptionist who did not smile once. We had great difficulty communicating with her (very basic questions like check out time, let alone asking for directions). Her colleagues were much more helpful and kind, which redeemed the situation.

Location and the rooms are great, but you forget about all these when you see the poor breakfast buffet. Not suitable if you are looking for a good breakfast to start and make your day. Hotel staff was kind and helpful tough...

Premier Why is a nice 4 star with good location near city center. Rooms are newly renovated and nice, although TV remote control was not working in my room. Wifi was OK but sometimes struggling with speed. Reception personell was very nice and helpful and checkin/out was smooth. Restaurant served a good meal and also breakfast was pretty good. However, waiters were missing in attention, I got the wrong sides for the lunch and had to wait until half breakfast was done before I could order a cup of coffee to go with it. Also, if you want to go to sleep before 1 am I recommend another room than 101, which is too close to the hotels own bar on the street below.

Second time in Lille, first time at BW UP. I was very impressed with extra touches for guest comfort from the plush bath sheets, comfortable beds, free bottled water, quality toiletries it was great. Doesn't look like much from the outside but well worth the stay. Walking distance to a big mall and all attractions. Parking is just down the street. All good.

This hotel is very good. Decor and rooms are lovely. Staff very very friendly, especially when you do not speak the language very well !!! We arrived mid morning and whilst we thought we would be able to leave our cases until we check-in later in the afternoon - to our pleasant suprise both rooms were ready and we were able to take cases up and settle in - brilliant !!!! Staff were very welcoming. Nice bar and pavement area for relaxing. Good secure safe in each room. Mini bar in room is free and re-stocked every day. Thats unusual in this day and age. Hotel operates a "green" policy and if you are happy for the towels and sheets not to be changed everyday - they issue you with 2 free drinks tokens for any type of drink in their bar, for every day you don't change sheets or towels !!! They service room and make beds but not sheets and towels. Brilliant idea !!! Only complaint - amongst the free drinks, which includes lagers and "nibbles" there were a few metal cap bottles but no bottle opener !! ?? If you are thirsty this can be overcome but bottle opener would save time !!!!!!

Great location for the centre. Short walk to all sites. The staff are very friendly and helpful. They gave us some great recommendations. Rooms very nice and clean beds comfy and showers great. Parking also available, which was great.

We spent a weekend in Lille for my husband's birthday (we are a family of four with 2 small children) and we booked a Junior suite with birthday surprise. Everything was excellent and I could only suggest greater selection of food (however the restaurant itself is quite small so the buffet is quite limited) and more parking spaces.

The location is excellent. Train station is just a few minutes walk. The staff is very friendly. Not everyone speaks English so communicating can be a little challenging but they would call someone who knows the language so no trouble there. The breakfast spread is very good. They offer free drinks if for 2 days you do not ask them to change their line (a good initiative towards saving water). The room is spacious but only for 1 person. For 2 people it might be small but overall in Europe hotel rooms are compact. Overall I surely recommend this place. Thanks!

We have used this hotel several times and it is always a pleasure to stay here.Just back from another visit to Lille with friends and the hotel came up trumps again. Ideally situated just a short walk from the main square with parking outside. The hotel is immaculately clean and very chic. The rooms are modern and beautifully furnished, with a very comprehensive free mini bar . We enjoyed a delicious breakfast , one of the best I've had. All the staff are very friendly and helpful , special mention to Alexis. Highly recommended and we will be back very soon .

Stayed for one night and the bed was truly comfortable - a great nights sleep. Reception staff were very helpful and sorted all my "special requests" without having to be chased. Will certainly return.

Perfect location for sightseeing, well appointed hotel, with excellent disabled access. Staff are very obliging and pleasant and most helpful. Be advised, only bar snacks provided in the evening, but the lunchtime menu is superb and the restaurant is always full, so make sure you book a table. Lots of local restaurants nearby, but are busy too. Loved the L'occitane toiletries, and the supply of bath robes. 5 star rating

It's a really nice hotel with excellent friendly staff. The rooms are well equipped with a free minibar and nespresso machine, very large tv with a good assortment of channels. They also offer a free drinks system if you stay more than two nights, and choose to not have your bed linen changed, it's still made up. We took up this offer and ended up with £40 of free cocktails between us for two nights. The only thing that let the hotel down is the air conditioning in the room that we could not adjust. For some reason the hotel control the aircon and it was set to hot, we found this too hot and uncomfortable. The hotel is located a few minutes easy walk from the centre and the railway stations, also the underground.

The Why hotel is very well located close to the old part of Lille. You can stroll around the old town or along the river front. The rooms are quite spacious. There is plenty of room for a queen or king size bed and there bathroom includes both bath and shower. I found all staff to be very friendly and helpful. Most speak English. Breakfast is a buffet with hot and cold food with plenty of options. A minor point. The bed has a very warm doona and I found myself throwing it off and on as the air conditioning seems to be centrally controlled. You can open the windows if you want. The blackout curtains are very effective. There is a small gym. There are meals available although the restaurant is only open on limited times. The hotel has a great system of rewarding guests for not having their towels and sheets laundered. They give you a free drink in the bar if you participate. Recommended

The hotel is very close to the Eurostar station and to the old town. There is parking if you travel to Lille by car.It is situated close to coffee shops and plenty of restaurants. The staff is extremely friendly. The room was very clean and had a comfortable bed with a modern shower.It has a restaurant which serves breakfast and lunch but no dinner. I would stay here again if visiting Lille.

Friendly and courteous staff, check in handled efficiently as well as explanation about the offsite parking (about 200m away) -hotel was comfortable, clean and well appointed. Lille city centre was about 5 minutes walk, ideal for access to good restaurants and bars. Very reasonably priced stay, have never used BW Why chain before bit wouldn't hesitate to do so again.

Lovely stay at this Best Western Hotel. Approximately 10+ min walk from Lille Eurostar Station. Located around the corner from Squares, restaurants, cafes, bars. The Old Town was also very close. Reception staff, in particular a young man called Alex was very efficient, helpful and cheerful, the whole process was simple and fuss free. Our room was on the 3rd floor and overlooked a side road. Two massive windows which fully opened, this was much appreciated and made a nice change. Tastefully decorated, well appointed, comfy bed and linen. The shower in the bathroom was superb! my only niggle was the lighting which could have been a bit brighter, all else faultless. There was a nice little bar area which was relaxed, friendly and served a good glass of wine. Overall, this is an excellent choice of Hotels, the location couldn't be better, and I would thoroughly recommend for a comfortable and relaxed weekend break.

Booked this hotel because of location and not disappointed it was easy to get to all the sights and restaurants. Breakfast very good it would have been nice if they had done dinner. All of the staff make this place a pleasure to stay, they cannot do enough for you.

We had quick lunch in this restaurant. We all had the cod fish with passion fruit sauce. We thought the fish was a bit dry and not enough sauce in the dish. It was delicious though. For dessert we had the chocolate bombe and my father had coffee with small pastries. It was crowded but pleasant. Nous avons eu un dejeuner vite. Nous avons eu le poisson cabilaud avec sauce de fruit de passion. Le possion etait sec et il manquait du sauce. Mais c'etait assez bon. Comme dessert nous avons bombe de chocola et mon père avait café avec des gourmandises. Il y avait beacoup de monde mais cetait agrèable.

Our room was nicely furnished and clean. Various drinks in minibar for free. Bed was comfortable. Interior of the hotel was well designed and nice looking. Service fine and hotel as a whole worth trying.

We had room 507 and it was a very beautiful room as it had the roof terrace and oval windows running the entire length of two sides of the room. However there were problems with our stay: 1.The bed was tired and soggy and it absolutely killed my back. As it was so used, the foot of the bed was higher than the head, very strange. 2. The shower water wouldn't drain away which meant we had to keep stopping the shower otherwise it overflowed onto the bathroom floor. This didn't make for an enjoyable and relaxing shower. 3. The coffee machine just would t turn on. We tried switching plugs and sockets etc but to no avail. 4. As we were on holiday and have young children at home who we are always up early for, we took our time and lounged in our room, sat on the roof terrace, watched tv, ordered brunch etc and didn't leave our room till about 4pm. When we returned home that night, our bed hadn't been made, let alone turned down and our room service tray was still on our table. This really was unforgivable as we had reported to reception that the shower tray wouldn't drain and the coffee machine wouldn't work so they had been in our room and managed to get the coffee machine working and they had still left the filthy tray in our room, stinking it up for our return. We asked why they hadn't sorted the tray or our bed out and were in formed that their housekeeping team finished at 3pm !!!! This is outrageous! This is not a 2 or 3 star hotel. This is sold as a 4 star hotel and it is unforgivable that they wouldn't have 24 hour housekeeping. I have stayed in all sorts of hotels but never stayed in a hotel where my bed wasn't turned down at night and the room tidied up at the same time. Certainly it is absolutely not on to suspend all housekeeping duties at 3pm in a supposed 4 star hotel. I am very displeased.

The location is great at city center. Rooms are big enough and nice and modern decoration. Minibar drinks are free. Bathroom is big and very usefull. The staff is very helpfull. Wifi is free with strong connection. Parking is available. Breakfast is great. Prices are ok. So all is nice about this hotel.

The room was a bit different as it was at the front of the hotel so an odd shape . Very clean and functional . The only to fault was the bathroom as it had only semi opaque curtains so maybe not ideal !! Bar at night hit and miss service wise but it was a pleasant stay and nice staff . Thank you !

My two teenagers and I came to this hotel after reading other recommendations on TripAdvisor. It's perfectly situated - about 2 minutes walk from shops and cafes. Our room was very clean on arrival (half an hour early) The staff are really cheerful and helpful. We went for the ‘green' option where you don't have your towels washed daily and in return you're given tokens per guest for the bar - a great deal and the Malbec and two hot chocolates went down very nicely (not all at once though). The Christmas market itself was festive and Lille was beautifully decorated. The Metro was also near the hotel - we took it to Euralille - a huge shopping centre like Bluewater for more Christmas shopping! A really great weekend - will definitely come back to this hotel.

Stayed here for 2 nights, travelled by Eurostar. Hotel is around a 15 minute walk from Lille Europe station. Was really impressed with the hotel, we arrived at around 11am and were able to check in early. The staff were really friendly and helpful. Loved our room, an end room on 6th floor. Spotlessly clean with big comfy bed and nice touches such as complimentary mini bar, Nespresso machine , bathrobes and slippers and a good selection of toiletries. We decided to 'go green' and used our tokens to buy 1 beer and a spirit and mixer, saving over €20 so well worth it. The hotel is located around a 5 minute walk from Lille Flandres station, we also visited Arras and Amiens and everything was very straightforward. Hotel is also a couple of minutes walk from the main square so couldn't have been better located. There are lots of bars and restaurants around the hotel, we particularly liked Babe bar next to the hotel, they have a selection of around 20 craft beers and sell great food too. In all we had a great 2 days here and wouldn't hesitate to recommend, if we ever come back to Lille we would stay again.

This is a lovely hotel with friendly service modern rooms nice bar a little bit noisy at night but not a problem ideal location for a weekend stay came in on the Euro star within walking distance to hotel can't go wrong with this hotel

Lovely hotel with quirky shaped windows and modern decor inside. Fabulous cocktails in the bar and very friendly hotel staff. Breakfast was excellent if you go early, but because the dining room is effectively the bar, it is quite small and when full, is a little difficult to navigate your way around the food and other guests! Great choice of breakfast items though, so something for everyone. The mini bar in the room is complimentary, so this was a lovely surprise. The bed was super comfy and the shower was excellent - didn't want to get out! Our room (302) was on the third floor and a corner room, so we had a good all round view of the surrounding streets. Room was quiet and had blackout curtains so, along with the comfortable bed, we had a great night's sleep. We opted to 'Go Green' on the cleaning of our room, which means the maids will not use any energy to service your room, so no cleaning only bed making. This was a great environmenal incentive and in return we were rewarded with tokens for drinks in the bar - which you can spend on ANY drink in the bar, so one token could be redeemed for a €10 cocktail! Really made our stay actually! Great location too, so grab a map and explore beautiful Lille...

First of all, the staff was very friendly and helpful. We reserved parking and I stepped in to find out how to locate it. The staff member explained, but I still couldn't find it so she carefully explained again. It's actually quite close, about half a block away, but easy to miss if you're not used to underground parking areas. If you park, be sure that you're in one of the hotel's spots. They are all marked with the names of the businesses and half of the lights in the garage weren't working the day we initially parked so we almost parked in the wrong area. The room was nice and the big round windows brought in lots of light. But...next to the bed there was a sliding mirrored panel. If you slid it over you were looking right into the shower and through the shower to the toilet. Who would want that?? Perhaps for extra light in the bathroom if you were staying alone?? We were staying as a couple, so it stayed closed but light leached out around it when one of us used the toilet during the night, disturbing the other person. Poor design! Breakfast was average, with eggs quite undercooked for my taste. It would have been nice to have more fruit. Location was great and we walked to everything in the old town area.

Great hotel in a fantastic location. Five minute walk from the city center and less than 10 to the train station. Lots of restaurants around the area. The staff was very friendly and the rooms/bathrooms were large. Only negative was that there wasn't a plug in the bathroom.

A 10 /15 minute walk from the euro star station and well located to the town centre. close to local bars shops and old town would visit again . hotel decor very off the wall but in a nice way/ rooms well appointed with plenty of extras we had a free minibar and the option of going green use your towels the following day and get two free drinks at the bar, very good idea.

Excellent hotel, brilliant location walking to the heart of the beautiful city. Rooms don't need any extra. They are perfect as they are. Staff is very friendly too. A pleasure to have stayed. Certainly be booking it again.

I only stayed one night, but the facilities were very nice, clean and well stocked. They had a small minibar with free contents. Really pleasant people and a nice bar on sight. Also a good central location.

My expectations were a little low for this stay, but I was happily proven wrong. I very much enjoyed this place. It's initially humble, but really quite excellent the more you think about it. Comfy bed and loads of big pillows, small but intelligently laid out room, bright but good black out curtains, decent air con, quiet, soft drinks provided, large, up to date and very functional bathroom with a super shower, convenient location and friendly staff. I don't have anything bad to say! I wish I could've stayed longer to be honest.

Point blank in the center of Lille this hotel was our home base for the Lille festival this year. The hotel however is not surrounded by historical buildings. The hotel offers good service and high quality rooms. The rooms aren't big but very clever organised. Great bed and shower. Loved the break fast buffet with international and local products. Decent fresh brew coffee.

Loved the location. Only a 15 minute walk from the Eurostar terminal and a great base to explore the city. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were nicely decorated and comfortable and the coffee machine and free mini-bar are nice bonuses. Really enjoyed the breakfast - great selection of good quality food. You can choose not to have your sheet and towels changed and they will give you tokens to get a free drink at the bar instead. Think this is a great idea and encourages people to be 'green'.

Stopped here for one night with my family, Lille is a beautiful city and this hotel is probably one of the nicest hotels we have stayed in, very luxurious and the staff are so accommodating and helpful. A complimentary mini bar, fluffy robes and slippers, a very generous shower, comfy bed etc. Breakfast was delicious. If I had to pick anything to comment on, it's that parking is very limited and worth knowing where alternate parking may be, there are lots nearby though. Will definitively be going back!

Enjoyed a comfortable two-night stay with my wife here. The hotel's location was perfect for us, just a short walk from the centre and the old town, without being right in the thick of it. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. We heard a little late-night street noise from the second floor on our first night, so asked at reception the following morning if we could move to a higher floor. The staff were able to help, quickly allocating an equivalent room two floors higher, which was better for us. The breakfast buffet, included in our room rate, offered a good selection of hot and cold food, if not the widest selection I've seen at a European hotel. All the staff, at reception and at breakfast, were professional, welcoming and helpful. Leaving luggage at the hotel for a few hours, both before check-in and after check-out, was no problem at all. We were highly satisfied with our stay.

Going to stay at this hotel for 3 days during the Bradiere. I cant comment on the hotel but it is worth mentioning how helpful the staff at reception have been prior to our visit. Both Hugo and Etienne have been extremely helpful in giving me advice and suggesting where I can park my small van during our stay. Cant wait to go but I have been totally impressed with the service so far. Thank you.

I came here with my family because my husband wanted to show me where he went to medical school. The hotel is in a location where it is behind the main square. Their parking lot was full so they gave us a map of the one several blocks away. My husband parked his car and when he got out a group of thugs that were lying behind a pole in the lot chased him to intimidate him. Outside of the hotel while we tried to sleep which was near impossible because the air conditioning was awful, there were kids yelling and smashing bottles all night. I complained and advised the hotel of these dangers and asked if they could apply my payment toward another best western in a safer location and they refused. I've never stayed in a hotel chain that cared so little about their guests safety and satisfaction, hopefully others will avoid this situation.

Centrally well located hotel for the town, bars and restaurants. The room was spacious and very clean with a good sized shower room with a large shower. The hotel bar was located on the ground floor which had some outside seating and had a relaxing atmosphere. Room service, breakfast and bar snacks were available but the hotel did not have a restaurant. The staff were extremely friendly and very helpful.

This hotel could so easily be a four star as the staff are friendly and rooms a good size. We liked the option that you could have a free beer if you opted out of having your room serviced - a real benefit to global warming and nice for privacy too. Why this hotel doesn't hit the mark for us is the restaurant has an open door/window ... This means (as a non smoker) it's very unpleasant to be in or near the restaurant and therefore it also drifts into the reception area too. The coffee maker was very dirty on arrival and though I cleaned it as best I could not good :( Not everyone has coffee and though I flushed it several times having tea tainted with coffee is very unpleasant! Good location but missed my cuppa in the morning and didn't join the breakfast as don't like other cigarette habits affecting my holiday.

Great hotel very central to everything. Very helpful staff. €8 in taxi from rail europe. Careful return taxi. Hotel booked it and tried to charge €80. Not hotel fauld but made a complaint to hotel as a driver they use. Rooms large, modern and comfy beds

We only stayed one night in Lille during a journey back to the UK. The hotel is quirky and sufficiently different from anything else in Lille to provide some interest, while offering all of the mod-cons you need to ensure a comfortable break in a lovely city. The room was large, the bathroom was well fitted (and very spacious) and although there was a lively bar adjacent to the hotel (which would have been a strong positive had we not been travelling with a four month old baby) we weren't disturbed at all for the duration of our stay as the windows were soundproofed adequately. The hotel has a lively vibe to it's decor and the city centre is a short walk with plenty of interesting eateries and nightlife in close proximity. There was secure parking no more than 30m from the hotel and the staff were accommodating throughout our short visit. I was impressed that my wife and I both lamented that it would've have been a lovely place to visit with friends for a more lively evening in Lille but we didn't feel uncomfortable staying as a family. If a hotel can score on both of those fronts, it usually gets the thumbs up from me. We would be happy to return.

For a business trip recently I made a booking at the BW Why Hotel on the wrong date via Booking.com. I was personally notified by the hotel staff of my error, and although on the actual date I needed a room there was no longer a room available at the Why hotel, they immediately helped me out anad directed me to an alternative hotel, and cancelled my erroneous booking without any charge (eventhough the booking was made without possibility to cancel). This shows there are still hotels with great staff, with a personal and human approach ! Great experience, and next time I'm in Lille, will definitely try and book there again (choosing the right date this time :)

Would highly recommend the "Why" hotel if staying in Lille, really good value for money compared to other hotels, and would definitely return if I ever visit Lille again. The hotel was easy to find, with good parking, and the location is superb, literally 200 yards from the main square in Lille, with good access to bars, restaurants, shopping and public transport. The old town and main square is 3-4 mins walk at most so you couldn't be more central, but the hotel still remained quiet at night with little noise disturbance. We had a deluxe double which was spacious and fitted out to a high standard, with a generous mini bar and good facilities, but a quirky "peep hole" door to your shower from the bedroom was an odd touch! Staff were very friendly and helpful, particularly on reception for check in and check out the only minor issue with our stay was the chaotic breakfast service, food was of decent quality but the service was a little erratic and the staff didn't seem geared up for a full restaurant...lots of items ran out and took a long time to be replaced, not enough crockery and glasses, but a very minor issue in an otherwise excellent stay. Would highly recommend if ever your visiting Lille.

Nice rooms and hotel, breakfast is also very good. Lot of choice. The green me up system is a very good Idea. We enjoyed THE Fred drink. Service can be more relaxed. Located in THE center, everything at walking distantance.

Helpful staff, well equipped room with free minibar, internet that worked, good central location and excellent value for money. Liked the 'eco system' for room cleaning - if you don't need your towels and sheets changed every night you get tokens to use at the bar.

We were most fortunate to be in a major French city the night they won the World Cup, an experience we will never forget. This has almost eclipsed the fact that we were there to see a Tour de France stage, also fantabulous. Hotel Why is absolutely lovely, the staff are brilliant, they speak english, and the breakfast is awesome. The room was exceptionally clean and the mini bar was generous and free. Yes, free. Gratuit. Not often that happens here or anywhere. Have read recent reviews which talk about a sewerage kind of smell , and yes we smelt it outside (certainly not inside) but put it down to a large city with possibly inadequate infrastructure in a very hot summer which is no fault of the hotel. Don't let this put you off, Lille is great.

We were over for a family celebration and needed 4 rooms.This offered good value and reasonably central. It's a 15 min walk from the station but not a difficult one, we were greeted by friendly staff who booked us in quickly and one of the rooms was available @ 2 . They are vey pleasant clean and modern bathrooms with bathrobes and slippers to use. They have a complimentary mini bar , the soft drinks got replaced the beers weren't plus little bags of sweets and nuts - a lovely gesture, plus a good coffee machine. If you choose not to have your towels replaced when staying for 2 days or more they give you tokens to have a free drink down at the bar - a great idea and if having cocktails, which were good that's a generous offer. Breakfast was plentiful full of choice and on a Sunday goes on till 12. The only thing is that on some web sites it mentions king size beds,which we choose at a slightly higher price both on bookings.com and agoda , however in the standard classic rooms they are queen size only in the more expensive rooms and the suite do they have these- slightly misleading on the websites. Would definitely stay here again.

We stayed for two nights after moving from a much less comfortable property. The hotel is a real gem, comfortable bed, great shower and bathroom, short walk to shopping and the main town square but a bit separate and quite good soundproofing, which during World Cup celebrations was welcome. The free minibar is also a nice touch.

Very cool and stylish hotel. I chose a standard double room, which was a good size, very comfortable and well fitted with all amenities. There is a Nespresso machine in the room which is convenient and a free mini bar, which has a few items in it which most will enjoy. Staff very friendly and efficient. Hotel was good value and is well located and close to the centre of all attractions. My only complaint was street noise and I was on the 6th floor. My suggestion is get a room facing away from the front of hotel if possible.

Loved this place, and will see about coming back to a little gem of a city in France. Hotel was clean, well presented, rooms were brilliant, plenty of room and the saunas were the great way to relax after pounding the streets seeing all of the history and museums.

Nothing but praise. Nothing too much trouble for the friendly and efficient staff even after you've checked out; rooms clean and modern; great central location; good standard conti breakfast. Free minibar restocked daily ( No spirits obvs, but couple of beers, soft drinks, nuts ) and a free drink in the bar for each occupant for forgoing daily towel / linen change. Given a lot of hotels wouldn't do that daily anyway it's a nice touch. Very civilised timings - midday check-out, breakfast til 11 or 12 on Sunday.

Especially taking the reasonable price into account, this is one of the best hotels that I have been to. A mere five minutes walk from the Grand Place, the hotel is not only conveniently located, but also has the advantage of being far and enough away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The staff were both friendly and helpful throughout our stay and despite our room being relatively small, it was extremely well designed to take advantage of all the space. As stated in previous reviews our room also had a Nespresso machine and the hotel has this novel idea of giving you a drinks voucher if you agreed not to have a full clean done in your room (if your stay is a minimum of two nights). All in all a great stay and even though our package was bed only, there were plenty of nearby cafes to grab breakfast; all of which had the advantage of a better view.

Went to a few places around France for a few days away with friends... this was our favourite spot. The service made all the difference particularly the restaurant, which had great food and great staff. Very convenient if you're visiting Lille or the surrounding area.

Friendly staff, brilliant location. Situated less than 5 minutes walk from the Old Town square the friendly and helpful staff here really make your stay in Lille worthwhile. Food was delectable and the drinks sublime! There was even a local salsa class going on at the bar one night which was brilliant to watch!! Highly recommended

We stayed for one night in this hotel on the 6th floor. Spacious room with a seating area. Nespresso coffee machine and biscuits was nice to have. The fridge is stocked with complimentary drinks - beer, soft drinks and water. Friendly reception staff. Garage parking is available. The hotel is close to shops and restaurants, easy walking. The breakfast provided a very good choice. The lunch menu was very appealing and we would have eaten there if we had more time. It was very busy. A good choice for Lille.

My partner chose this hotel because he liked the oval windows. It is a 15 minute walk from the Eurostar station; if you are coming from the station just follow the signs for the office of tourism the hotel is just round the corner on the left from there. The hotel is also on the edge of the old town with lots of cafes and restaurants nearby. The art museum was also only a 10 minute walk. The room was small but clean and very modern with nice décor. The bed and pillows were comfortable (no top sheet through). You had a coffee/tea machine and cooler with some free soft drinks/water/beer/nuts; this was replenished daily and was a nice touch. There is an in-room safe and TV but we could only get CNN news in English while we were there; I believe there should be BBC1&2 but these were unavailable during our stay. The bathroom is very modern; the shower is very good with consistence hot water; did not like the modern sink though. Some toiletries of shampoo/soap/body location and bath robes were available to use. Cleaning the room – The hotel offer a “Green me up” option which means if you do not wish a full service clean you can opt for just the beds to be made and the bins emptied and in return the hotel give you 2 tokens for a free drink in the evening; you could have anything from the bar menu you wished. I have stayed in many hotels and never been offered this option before and thought this was a really nice choice. Breakfast – I thought the breakfast was lovely and a really good choice of different options were available; tea, coffee, juices, cereal, breads, jams, some hot items, cheese, ham, mixed fruit; yogurts, waffles etc. Cons – The hotel does not have air con in the winter only heating controlled centrally and we found the room very hot at night even with this switched off. Also I had an issue with the lift one day which I entered on my own and pressed floor 4; only for the lift to go down to -1; the doors did not open and all the lights went out, it was pitch black accept for the highlighted alarm button which I pressed. Anyway luckily it was only a few seconds before the lights came back on and the doors opened (walked up the stairs). On speaking to the lady on reception a short time later she was unaware of any issue with the lift or that anyone had pressed the alarm which is a bit worrying. Overall a nice stay and we would stay here again if visiting Lille

This was a surprise trip booked for my Birthday. Lille is an amazing and beautiful city. The Why Hotel is placed very centrally and within walking distance of the museums, parks, bistros and restaurants. It has underground parking nearby, which is safe and secure. The hotel does not do an evening meal, but has room service available from 6-11pm if you are too tired after walking all day! The breakfast buffet is fantastic! The hotel offers the chance to 'go green' which means you have your bed made and your bins emptied, but no frantic polishing and vacuuming. For this you get a free drink in the bar - an excellent trade off!! Nice coffee machine in room, and plenty of free drinks in the mini bar. Loved the place.

We found this hotel via trip adviser and have just returned from a lovely 3 night break. The inclusive breakfast was lovely - all fresh and everything you would wish for. We took advantage of the Green Me Up facility - rather than a full room clean etc they just made the bed and emptied he rubbish - in return you could chose any drink from the bar - inc cocktails and champagne. The hotel was really well located just a 15 minute walk from the Eurostar and 3 minutes from the central square and tourist info. We took advantage of some lovely shopping in the nearby Printemps Store where you can enjoy 10% reduction as a tourist. The room itself was spotless with a complimentary mini car which was topped up daily and also lovely L'Ocitaine toiletries and plenty of hot water. Would definitely recommend this hotel to all.

The hotel room had a contemporary and warm decor. Great view from the oval windows. Bed slept very well. Breakfast was good. The hotel is located in the city centre. Parking was a bit difficult to find, but we managed.

A weekend in Lille was enjoyed even more the stay at this hotel. Within walking distance of the station and the main area for shopping, we were checked in to room 606 which was a corner room that was found to be large and spacious. The room came with a complimentary mini bar that was restocked daily and we had breakfast included. Breakfast was fresh and offered a good selection of items and lovely hot strong coffee in the morning. The hotel also offered free WIFI. We would return on our next visit to Lille

A very lovely hotel in a great location with helpful, efficient staff and quirky architecture. The room we had (507) was enormous with a large balcony/terrace (though it was a bit cold to make full use of it!). Good buffet breakfast. A couple of unexpected bonuses: a free minibar, restocked daily, with a couple of beers, water, juice, coke etc; and a free drink at the bar if you elected not to have your towels and bedding changed daily. Highly recommended.

our stay in best western premier is unforgettable .We liked everything.The staff is extremely helpful and polite especially Pauline and Nathan . The breakfast has varied choices and is excellent . The room is spacious with nice and open view. The hotel itself is few meters from printemps large store and from down town .even the gare is at walkable distance . We recommend this hotel to our friends and we will be our choice in our next visit to Lille .

They have given us a perfect room exactly what we required large room and the return of l'occitane toiletries 2 nights was not enough wish we could have stayed a couple more. The weather was snowy. Stayed with the family in mid December whilst visiting the nearby Christmas Market. This is a small, compact hotel but contains everything you'd want from a city break residence. Smart, well appointed rooms. Huge bathroom and a massive walk in shower. Comfy beds and pillows and everything you need for a good night's sleep including a free mini bar. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful although best thing in reception was a free to use photo booth which kept the kids entertained. There is a small pleasant bar which turns into the breakfast room in the morning. We'd actually planned to go out somewhere for breakfast but as it was snowing and the small hot and cold buffet looked so nice we stayed. At 16 Euros for adults and 8 Euros for kids it was not only very tasty but also pretty good value. We made full use of the 'all you can eat' instruction. Located a short walk from the Christmas market and the main city centre shopping. If we go back to Lille anytime soon then I'd definitely be going back.

I am lucky enough to have stayed in so many differing hotels throughout the World and when you travel for leisure, your needs are not the same as when you are on business. For a short stay with friends on a Eurostar visit this was fine. Don't even think about walking from the station . It's no way 15 minutes as claimed . It takes that time in a taxi . Upside ; staff are very warm ,young and friendly . Location is good but Lille needs no more than two days at the most . Downsides . Rooms are compact and air con is hit and miss. They do have some nice touches though with free coffee machine and soft drinks . Breakfast buffet is unusually varied and staff are excellent and attentive . Overall , it's fine if you don't expect lavish public areas and luxury but in other respects you leave with a pleasant memory of having made a good choice at a fair price . Would I go back ? Maybe but would negotiate the largest room I could afford .

The hotel is conveniently located in a quiet part of the inner city near major attraction area, shopping, restaurants, and cafes. It is a 3 minutes' walk from the Grand Place – Old Town. The hotel was approximately a 15 minute walk from Lille Europe train station. It is about 1 minute walk to the art museum. We stayed in a deluxe room, which is larger than a standard room. Room was very comfortable with quality bedding and complementary robes and slippers, king-size bed, the bathroom was excellent, fantastic rain shower, products from L'Occitane, big flat screen. The free mini bar, bottled water and Nespresso machine were nice touches. Very clean and we didn't hear any noise from adjoining rooms, corridor etc. Good breakfast with selections. Car parking nearby at €16 per day is reasonable. We enjoyed renting bikes and use the safe cycle routes around the city! Furthermore, public transport is integrated and cheap. Solid and reliable free Wi-Fi. The staff are efficient and friendly. Great value for money!

Booked for weekend for 3 (2 adults, 1 child) in one room. Very comfortable bed; quiet; central location; good breakfasts. Huge shower. Good towels and accoutrements. Couldn't fault it. Wouldn't bother looking for anywhere else on returns trips - which there will be because Lille is a lovely town.

This place was a huge disappointment after the reviews on the site. The entrance is shabby, the seats in the lobby are cheap, too low and extremely difficult to get in and out of. It is impossible to get a taxi in a reasonable amount of time and it is too far away from the two train stations. There are no bathtubs in the better rooms and the sheets are very scratchy. No feather pillows available.Nice touch is a minibar with beverages and snacks, as well as Nespresso machine. Food in restaurant is very average and the choice is extremely limited.

Stayed 4 nights. Very comfortable. Buffet Breakfast expensive used cafe across road. Handy for Metro. Lots of eateries in area. Visit Tourist office for map of area and places to visit. English speaking staff, very friendly. Popular place at lunch time but no dinner in evening. Had room on 6th floor, very quiet. Did not like modern wedge shaped sink in bathroom, very slow draining, water lying in sink for a while, not nice when sharing.

The rooms are a fair size for Europe but like others there was nowhere but the ground to put our suitcase. There was a very tippy bench in our room which we obviously didn't end up using. The bathrooms are nice and the service is good. It's walking distance from the train station and from the attractions. If you're coming off the train the sidewalks are a little bumpy and it's not obvious that there's a hotel (we walked right by it) but the hotel itself is new and thus quite clean. The rooms are cute (I especially loved the wallpaper in the halls and stopped on every floor to see what they had ??)

If an overnight stop-over is what you need in Lille, then this hotel would be fine, but any longer and I'm afraid that, like us, you'll be living out of your suitcase. We were here for four nights as a base to visit Flanders and the drawer/hanging space for clothes is frankly ridiculous. There is almost none. That's a pity, as the rooms are stylish and well presented, with otherwise good amenities, and the reception staff are friendly and efficient. The hotel is well located, a short walk from the main sqaure and restaurant area, although Lille itself isn't so much a destination in itself, but a means to explore elsewhere. We had a hire car, and so for example were an hour from lovely Ghent, and around the same to Ypres. We only had breakfast, which is buffet style and quite comprehensive really, and it's of a good standard. However, a full 30 mins before breakfast officially ends the staff stop replenishing plates, cutlery, and glasses, and the breakfast items such as fruit juice are not topped up. The result is that you have to ask, which is met with a less than friendly attitude. Not really what the seasoned traveller will expect. In short then, fine for one night but look elsewhere for longer.

Stayed for one night in Sept 2017. A good welcome which is very important. Very comfortable and well-appointed room with an excellent bathroom. Good coffee maker in the room - not just a bit of powdered nescafe - and a free mini-bar. Secure, off-street parking. Excellent breakfast. Perfect place from which to explore Lille.

Arrived at the hotel after driving from Bruges. No clear parking but pulled up outside and were given clear instructions where to park (underground) very close by. Check in was simple and easy. The room was fantastic, air con worked really well so was nice and chilly when we arrived. Bathroom was great and towels/robes soft and fluffy, unlike other hotels where they feel slightly chalky! Mini bar wasn't stocked when we arrived but they topped it up on our second night. Definitely within walking distance of the main streets/shops. We also wandered to the Zoo from the hotel and would certainly recommend. One afternoon we sat outside under the shelter outside with a bottle of wine and it was lovely to relax and watch people stroll past. After all the walking around one evening we ordered the room service. Very generous portions with bread and a variety of sauces too. I would recommend this hotel and certainly stay here again if in the area.

The air conditioning worked great. The WIFI was very fast also. Very fluffy duvet and pillows were feather, both flat and more firm. Room was spacious. Bathroom very nice, bathrobes, little fridge. Pull out couch surprisingly comfortable (thick foam mattress). Location is good and the hotel is easy to spot due to the egg shaped windows. On the minus side -- there is a bar next door that parties well into the night (3 am), in the summer at least, so very noisy even with the air conditioning on. Entire lobby/breakfast area smelled like cigarettes. Staff is vaguely helpful. Breakfast is very expensive at 15 euro per person. I would probably look elsewhere next time I return to LIlle.

Superb hotel. Very modern. Amazing FREE mini bar that gets re stocked every day, and it's got a couple beers in it as well as other bits, water, nuts etc). Lovely bar for the evening. Great location. Went with our 5 and 7 year old who thought the walk in shower was in their words "awesome", you can even watch whoever is showering through a screen between the bed and the bathroom. All at a very reasonable cost. Oh and you get couple free beers (in addition to the mini bar beers) if you don't bother changing your towels. All in all a great stay. Will return when coming back to Lille, which is a great city.

We enjoyed our time at the BW Premier Why Lille although it was for only one night. It was quite easy to find, even on the narrow streets! The check in was professional and friendly and took very little time. When we asked for secure parking, we were told they were full for that night but the street parking was free overnight. It took a couple of circuits around the area, but we managed to find a spot close by. The room was great with a full length opening window. The welcoming tray was appreciated after a very frustrating drive from Amsterdam. The street noise was a bit loud, but would not expect anything else at this location, and it died off by midnight. I recommend this hotel for the quality of sleep, customer service and location. We would definitely stay again if in Lille.

Stayed for a long weekend. 15 minute walk from the Eurostar station. Good location in the town. Modern interior. Friendly staff. Stayed in suite with terrace. Very large room. Was able to sit out on the terrace both days, which was a bonus. Complimentary mini bar. Decent rain shower. Bar open until 1am on the Friday night and enjoyed a few drinks before retiring. Bar was supposed to be open until 1am on the Saturday night too but we were turned away when we arrived at midnight. Bit odd. A nice hotel and would be happy to stay here again in we come back to Lille.

One of the best hotels we have stayed at.Everything was first class from the staff to the room.Free minibar was realy good and location excellent.Travelled by Eurostar and it was only a 15 minute walk from hotel to station.Would recommend to anyone who wants a stress free couple of days.

We have just returned to the UK after a long weekend stay at the 'Why' hotel Lille. Reception were very welcoming and easily provided local information including a map of the city. This modern boutique hotel has smart decoration without being ostentatious. Our room on the first floor was of ample size with a large comfortable double bed. Also Comfortable seating and plenty of plugs for charging internet devices. The internet is also free to use. The bathroom again is luxurious with a very large shower, but amusingly the toilet had been raised above the norm.. I am six feet in height but think anybody shorter would be left dangling. There are numerous eating establishments nearby and therefore the hotel was not used for lunch time eating. I have considerable experience of continental breakfasts and I am afraid that at the cost of approx. £15 per person the fayre was not good value for money, hence the lower rating, otherwise it would have been 5*.

Just got back from my regular stay in this hotel Had a great time was brilliantly looked after was there in July and back again for my birthday must say the lady that runs the cocktail bar worth a visit to hear the music they play in the evening and the cocktails she made me for my birthday stunning and not expensive either as they keep the price competitive,she is brilliant and lunch too all healthy type menus and breakfast must be good as so many come that aren't residents wished I'd stayed longer I'm sorry to go home,room is good to and clean no complaints what so ever

Wonderful hotel with helpful staff members. Clean and nice rooms with free minibar and great appliances. Work out room in basement. Free drink in bar if you choose to skip one cleaning. The hotel is in the centre of Lille with shopping, sightseeing and great restaurants close by.

Just stayed here the last weekend in July, could not find fault with it it really , is a well run hotel good staff all around, Nathan on front of desk could not of done more to help any problems and advise the girls were good to , this is a not disappoint hotel.

The location is perfect, lots of bars and restaurants nearby. Our room was very comfortable, it was slightly small but it is designed really well so it wasnt a problem. All the fixtures and fittings were really good quality and maintained very well, the shower was so powerful, lovely soft quality towels, very comfortable bed, coffee machine, free mini bar. There is not loads to do in Lille but it was nice to visit for two nights.

We stayed a Saturday and Sunday night, hotel is brilliantly located and check in was very easy. The mini bar is a really nice touch and the bathroom was really lovely. The bath is great after a long walk around lille. Would definitely stay here again if we come back to lille.

Nice boutique type hotel. Very pleasant staff. Well placed for a visit to the old town which itself is delightful. Parking just round the corner at a reasonable price (but ask the reception how you get out on foot, i.e. through the same door you drive in). Really good value for money.

What a fantastic hotel in a great location, more than I expected, great staff very helpful. Underground parking which is a great bonus. Hotel tastefully decorated, very modern and clean, breakfast very good and great selection, lovely bar and plenty of places to sit outside. Lots of bars and restaurants nearby, very vibey pity we where only staying one night, would definitely stay again.

Upside: Big Room, big Bed, Nice luxury bathroom. good breakfast buffet, allot of choice we got the breakfast for free with the room without booking it which was a great surprise. Walking distance from the center only 1 minute. Down Side: Hotel Parking service is within check-in and Check-out which makes the trip to Lille a little unconvertible because you will have to relocate your car to a other garage if you want to stay after check out time in the city. The Bed was hard and les comfortable as expected. Conclusion: Wonderful hotel and great value for money to stay the night for your stay in Lile

My wife and I were in Lille for dinner and booked the hotel room so we wouldn't have to drive home after eating and drinking. Very comfortable room. Very clean. Bed was super comfortable. Only criticism is that the bed had a duvet with no separate sheet. So either you are too hot or too cold. We should have removed the duvet from its cover and we would have slept well. We will do that next time we go to Lille for dinner. Bathroom spacious. Weird layout in that the loo faces the shower that is separated from the bedroom by a glass wall. I suppose this is to get natural light when Jan the bathroom. However, if you are in bed and you turn to face the "wall" your view is of the person sitting in the loo. Goodies in the mini bar were complementary. We had Nespresso coffee and water only. Breakfast was good. Fruit, bread, eggs, bacon, sausages, muffins, the lot. The coffee was lousy though. We got a deal that included breakfast otherwise you pay €15 per person. I think it was worth it. Car parking nearby at €16 per day is reasonable. Area may be noisy depending on the time the bars around the corner close and the state in which people walk out. We heard a few people shout but it was nothing too bad.

PRO: Service - Yana (front desk) was SO helpful from the second we arrived and was a prime reason we decided to extend our one night stay for an extra night. She helped us with parking, booking restaurant reservations on a Friday evening (time consuming!), and booking our next trip. Yana truly deserves recognition for her outstanding professionalism, sincere helpfulness, and genuine good spirit. Location - close to the restaurants in the historic area and nearby outskirts. Room - modern, clean & comfortable! Price - great value for the room and breakfast options (7 for fast; 15 for regular) Wifi - fast Parking - hotel offers parking and street parking is available since this hotel is right on the border of the old ville and new ville CON: N/A

What an excellent little boutique hotel! Couldn't fault it, spotlessly clean, the bathroom is amazing! Great coffee machine and free mini bar which was restocked everyday! Plenty of plug sockets in all the right places! And a lovely surprise awaits you on your arrival. Would highly recommend this hotel.

The room was not expensive and was well worth more than paid for. The showers were fantastic and the bed extremely comfortable. It was not in the best part of the city, but was great for the one night needed on a business stay. I will keep this on the list for future visits to the area.

All perfect : The location, the very helpfull and smiling staff, the room, the bed, the bathroom, the free N.. machine in the room, the free bar, the great breakfast. This hotel is in a quiet area and walking distance of the main places to visit as well as the metro. We had a wonderful stay!

We were so pleased we chose this hotel for our stay in Lille. The staff were super helpful. They hotel was ideally located to walk into the centre of Lille. The room was stunning - very modern and very clean. They bathroom was lovely and spacious and we appreciated the fact that the loo was in a separate room. The room itself was also very spacious even with the sofa bed out for our 2 year old. The Complimentary fridge was very useful - saved us a trip to a local shop for drinks. Our only disappointment was that we didn't feel the car park situation was explained well enough on the website or when we booked. We partly chose this hotel because it was advertised with a car park but what we didn't know was that there were limited spaces and we needed to pre-book a space. Luckily there was a holiday in the city and parking on the road was free. If you are travelling without young children the bar looked great! If you undecided where to book - we have no hesitation on recommending this hotel - just remember to pre-book the car park if you have a car.

Booked using points and was surprised at how few were required for a free night. Had expected a lower quality than what we received. Staff were excellent, location was great, and room worked well. All in all one of our best hotel experiences

What a lovely hotel. Clean, modern, high spec in a quite part of Lille but near to the centre. The room was well planned and although the bathroom was small it was well planned with a large shower, complimentary robes and all the shower gels etc. There was free mini bar which was unusual. The staff could not have been nicer and very willing to assist. We booked through another booking site which did not say to book for hotel car park so had to go in an underground 10 minute walk away. Suggest you book this facility if required. Breakfast was pleasant too. Can recommend this place for sure.

This place has got it all. The location is in a quiet part of Lille but within walking distance of the main square. I had a superior room and it was worth it. Spacious room and shower. The minibar was free. The restaurant served a delicious breakfast. They also served a wonderful lunch. Don't forget to have the café gourmand! Coffee with five mini pastries. Unfortunately they don't serve dinner. The restaurant is superior to the local restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. There is a huge Carrefour grocery store by the Gare Europe, within walking distance of the hotel. The reception is kind and extremely helpful.

Thank Why Hotel we had a great stay and came back for another night at the end of our touring week The facilities were great - rooms were to a high standard with quality bedding and complementary robes and slippers - also complementary are the coffee machine and the mini bar with water, beer and soft drinks. Staff - friendly and helpful - nothing too much trouble. Breakfast was a little on the expensive side - but was delicious and lots of it. Highly recommend - would definitely return...

We discovered this hotel a few years ago on the way to a Christmas market in Germany. It is very central, close to the large square with loads of shops and restaurants nearby. Where this hotel scores really highly is in all of the "extras". In the rooms there is a free mini bar, an espresso machine, lovely pillows and an amazing rainforest shower. The toiletries provided are really high quality too. We had breakfast included at the room rate. Breakfast was very good with lots of fresh croissants, pastries, jams and hot food. At weekends, breakfast is served until twelve o' clock so we had a really long lie in too! There is private parking available, and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. All in all, an excellent hotel and one that we will definitely return to.

Fabulous stay at Why for long weekend. Lovely room, fantastic bathroom (the shower IS great as other reviews say!) and staff could not have been more attentive. Free mini bar and Nespresso machine is a lovely touch. Bar staff especially good too - cocktails were delish! Perfect central location. Highly recommend!

The hotel was very conveniently located in town, it was very easy to get around in foot. The hotel itself has good service however, it has a very small lobby and small restaurant / bar. My only snag is that we checked in with a baby, and whilst we did not want a crib to be provided, we would have appreciated the staff's initiative for a slightly bigger room. We could barely move in the room they gave us, which for me made it a slightly less enjoyable stay. Otherwise, it's a good budget four star hotel and I would recommend it if you're here on business.

Perfect location! Walking distance from la Grand Place and has a lot of restaurants near by. They have nice little details like a complementary mini bar and an espresso machine! The people at the front desk are very friendly and recommended a very good restaurant for dinner.

Very accommodating and friendly staff. We were initially put in a room on the floor above the lobby bar, but the noise was a bit much. We were able to be moved to a room on the 4th floor. The breakfast was good with many options. Parking is 16 Euros per night.

We went to Lille for a concert so we decided to stay one night in this thrilling city. My choice went to this hotel based on photo and customer advise. I was really satisfy because it was as expected. Very nice bedroom and large bathroom. The service was excellent as well because we went back in the evening and the team accepted to prepare some food for us even if the service hour was overcome. Private car park from the hotel under reservation and standard car park close to the hotel and not too expensive. Indeed reservation highly recommended.

This is a top notch hotel (for a boutique style hotel in Europe). Close to everything. And the people smiled and were friendly. The fitness center is adequate (for a European hotel). This hotel cost more, but to me it was worth it. The breakfast was so great. The parking was also great. Lastly the rooms had style. You get the picture. I recommend it.

The hotel is situated in a great location with easy access to everything Lille has to offer. It was very convenient having hotel parking close by - this was very easy to organise and within ten minutes we were in our well appointed room. The rooms are stylish and comfortable and offer everything you might need. The coffee machine and the minibar with free drinks was an added bonus and much appreciated. The bathroom was a delight. The towels and bathrobes have a luxurious feel to them and typical of the quality of the hotel and the attention to detail. We were only able to spend one night at this lovely hotel but will definitely stay longer as we definitely aim to return.

We enjoyed our stay. the staff were all friendly and helpful. Our room was warm and comfortable and had a pleasant outlook. We could have benefitted from an extra easy chair so we borrowed one from the corridor near the lift. We used room service once and we made an error with the order which was dealt with efficiently by the hotel staff. We enjoyed our stay.

My husband and I stayed here for 1 night whilst we visited the Xmas market for a seasonal mini break. The hotel is ideally located near the town centre, tourist information and the Xmas market itself. However it's not in the pretty quarter of the town so the the room views are nothing to speak of. The hotel is small is size but very luxurious and all the staff are extremely friendly and make you feel very welcome. Rooms are very well presented, clean, modern, warm and very inviting. They have a large feel with a huge bathroom and the biggest walk-in shower I've ever seen! There is a Nepresso machine in the room with free coffee capsules and a few select drinks in the mini bar that are also free. My only tiny criticisms are that the online booking agent we used didn't make it clear that breakfast was not included. The breakfast charge when checking out was therefore unexpected and a little pricey however, it was a fresh and delicious . I certainly ate my money's worth in waffles and crepes. Also, the toilet in the bathroom seemed a little high in its position. This sounds weird, but when sat on it, my feet barely touched the floor and I'm not a short person! We had a wonderful stay here and thoroughly enjoyed our mini break. The Xmas market is small and isn't great, I've been to much better elsewhere. However, it was enough for a fleeting 1 night visit and the overall trip was made excellent due to good food, good company and a lovely hotel.

Stayed for one night for a business trip and it was superb. The aroma was lovely as you walk into reception. Rooms are spacious with an amazing bath tub and gorgeous fluffy towels and robes and slippers. For breakfast there was a good choice. Would definitely come back again. Highly recommended

Hotel stay in a great location in the center of Lille you can walk around to see the city as well as find many interest place near the hotel. Nice design comfortable room with everything you need , staff is very helpful.

Hotel has a great location. Nearby everything. Classic room is good, but bed is small (Queen size). Next night we stayed in De Luxe room and that is a room we would recommend. Spacious, good beds and bathroom, separate toilet. First night we were kept awake by people sitting outside the cocktail bar, it has a covered terrace (on a weekday, we were on the fifth floor). Next night we moved to the other side of the hotel and even though there you are in the middle of the city centre, the noise is not disturbing. Breakfast is good, but not excellent. Everything is available, most of it is sweet, not to much choice in bread. For a few nights in Lille, we would definitely recommend this hotel, but choose for a De Luxe room that is not situated in the floors above the covered terrace.

We were very happy with this hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was modern, shower and wc area spacious and exceptionally clean. All mod cons including an espresso machine and free mini bar (we haven't seen this in a long time) The little touches were really appreciated. The wifi worked very well. I would highly recommend staying here. We didn't dine so cannot rate the food.

We stayed here for two nights on a mini holiday and were truly impressed by the rooms and location. Beautiful and comfortable bed, lots of amenities, new tv with a plethora of channels and a free minibar! Only downsides were the limited room service menu, the average breakfast and very slow bar service.

The hotel has beautiful, modern rooms with a rather large bathroom for a city hotel. Also the free minibar and the weekend breakfast until noon are great. A strange thing was the constant noise and loud music that we heard in our room. It seemed to come from the street, but when we went outside there was no noise at all. It certainly didn't come from inside the hotel, so we still wonder where it came from. It was rather annoying .... Breakfast was ok, let's say a three star breakfast in a four star hotel.

Booked here for a two night stay with my husband. It is a lovely, well appointed hotel with great rooms. Modern, light, excellent facilities, friendly staff, a really good find and I would happily recommend it.

Me and my girlfriend stayed here in March of this year for a long weekend. After a long drive down to Lille I was pleased how easy the parking was to sort out and how secure it was. The room itself was spacious and very modern, however, we were in the room directly above the hotel bar. The music and outside smoking area were constantly noisy until around 2am and as the aircon was not working we had no choice but to have the window open. In the morning we requested to change rooms to a higher room to avoid this happening again and this was done efficiently so thank you for that. In terms of the room, it was completely faultless. Large, powerful shower, big flatscreen tv and also a very comfy bed.

My second visit at the Why in Lille. My first visit, I was amazed and was given a huge room (402, I believe which had 7 windows). This I was given a much smaller room, despite being a Diamond member and having booked 5 months in advance. I was told that because I used a third party site, I wasn't entitled for an upgrade, but at time of booking, I did call the hotel directly and asked them to match and they said they couldn't. They could have saved the commission and everyone would have been happy. Room is still very nice and the bathroom just superb. Just a bit less closet space and not as many windows (only of the 2 partially opened, compared to all 7 in my other room). Still love the complimentary minibar, but no courtesy tray like I had last year. Great wifi, bed, etc... everything you need for a pleasant stay. Some little quirks that the hotel should be aware and need to be careful to avoid losing their #1 status in Lille: During my entire stay of 7 days, the soft boiled egg cooker was broken. The same occurred when I was there in Aug 2015. If the thing is breaking that often, just buy another, they don't cost that much, especially for the cost of the full breakfast buffet €15. (An express option is available for €7, consisting of just a croissant, coffee and juice). For about 2€, I went to "tout chaud" just down the street and grabbed 2 fresh croissants, along with the free Nespresso and orange juice in the room, what else can I ask for.. On 2 consecutive days, I had no hot water in the room around 8:25am. And I mean, the water would go from a tiny flow to nothing at all. It came back 15 mins later. I was told that they had water issues on the street the night before. The following morning, I got up earlier and it was fine..Cold water was always fine. One night, I woke up to a boiling hot room (AC had been switch to Heat in the entire hotel) when it was 30 degrees outside! Luckily, they fixed it very quickly and by the time I woke up up, I was able to switch the AC back on. Toiletries are not always replenished. I had to ask for soap a couple times because the maid would not replace them in the bathroom. I have to say that they use excellent L'Occitane products. The bathmat was peeling and at times not even replaced (I had to use a regular towel). So little things like things like this that could cost them their first place, but for now, I still love this hotel and will return without hesitation.

The hotel is near the main square in Lille which makes it easy to access the the old city. The room was wonderful. Points I appreciate are cleanliness, excellent and thoughtful housekeeping and comfort. This hotel was all of them with the added bonus of a bright and expansive layout of the room, solid floor and walls so I heard no neighborly noises, a great big wonderful bathroom with L'Occitaine products and a 'pouf' scrubber in lieu of a washcloth (although those were available). Clean robes and slippers, open mini bar, a charger station were great bonuses that did not go unappreciated by me. The staff was patient and friendly and did a great job juggling clientele while busy. The breakfast was for the most part pastries - which was fine by me. The eggs and cooked bacon/ham were limp and sad. Not sure if the eggs were from a box (dare I think it...) and why would you put crispy pan fried meat into a covered casserole dish which causes it to steam? I had a truly great experience and recommend with two thumbs up. I've added pictures of the room.

This hotel is in a very convenient position for both the commercial district and the old district of Lille. Both our room and bathroom were spacious but with very little storage in either. There was a wardrobe about 30cms wide but no drawers at all and no shelves or drawers in the bathroom. However, both were spotlessly clean and robes and slippers were provided. The bed was very comfortable with beautiful linen. Good breakfast at reasonable price. Staff were friendly and helpful. .

We were not overly impressed with the city of Lille itself, but this hotel was a nice place to stay. The room was very comfortable and it was in a good location. We had drinks at the bar and found the service to be very, very slow and inattentive. Other than that, we enjoyed our one night stay at this hotel.

For you Americans do not think about the Best Western mom and pop hotel. This is an upscale euro chic property. Situated two blocks off the main square in old town. A perfect location. The accommodations are wonderful. The bed sumpremely comfortable and the entire property is scrupulously clean.

Very clean fresh smelling room in central position near the main shopping plaza and food chains. Interesting places to visit all within walking distance of Hotel and train station no need for taxi or buses rent bikes and use the safe cycle routes around the city.

Hotel is in a reasonable quite area. Parking isn't free; however, you can pay €16 per day with hotel and they will allow you to park across the street in an underground parking lot where they have reserved spaces. Watch out for a man who pretends to be a parking tenant and will advise you to park in a parking space next to the hotel and then ask for a fee to park in the space. I asked the hotel about him, and they warned us not to give him our money, for he could possibly take it and not put a ticket on your car and then you could get a parking ticket from the police. If you chose to park outside the hotel, there are parking machines. Pay there! Guest room was clean and trendy. Bathroom was clean and stand up shower was amazing. Could have spent hours in there. Hallways were clean. Staff were very friendly and spoke good English. The restaurant, I didn't eat in, but passed through a couple of times, and looked really nice. The breakfast also looked great, but I thought €18 pp was too much. You might as well walk, no more than a 10 min walk, into the centre and have a variety of food options to choose from. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay here again. Also, this hotel is very child friendly. They will provide a crib and bottle warmer for your room, should you be travelling with a child.

Stayed here for 3 nights. Loved it. Ace hotel. Very cool. Had a junior suite with a huge balcony looking over the city. Loved Lille. Very un-touristy. Super interesting. Loads of bars and restaurants and a breathtaking cathedral. This hotel is right in the thick of it. I would definitely stay again. Really nice place. With nice folk too.

We stayed here for one night on our way to viewing some of the WW1 battlefields. It was an excellent choice, close to the Eurostar station and very handy for central Lille. The bedroom was very modern with good facilities including a coffee machine and good quality bathroom products and the bed was very comfortable. Would definitely stay here again.

My experience at Best Western Premiere Why had positives and negatives. As others have stated, the bed was very comfortable. The shower was quite nice. Although there was no rubber mat, so be careful not to slip. The toiletries were high quality, and the free minibar was a plus. The breakfast cost €15, and was delicious and plentiful. The Nepresso machine in the room made great coffee. The staff was friendly and tried to be helpful. There were a few problems though. The minibar, in my room, was broken. I was told that it was not supposed to be cold. After a few days the minibar was finally replaced, and it kept drinks cold. On some days the minibar wasn't replenished, so I had to ask at the front desk for water and other items. The room was small but comfortable. There were no drawers and only one available shelf in the closet. You might have to ask for more hangars. The sink, in the bathroom, was shallow and rectangular. I asked, at the front desk, for a wake up call for the morning on my last night. The phone rang in the middle of the night. I called to say that I had requested the wake up call for the morning not the middle of the night. I never received the wake up call in the morning. When checking out, I was told that I owed €380. That was very wrong. No way were a few breakfasts and the city tax €380 which was more than three times what the bill really was. My bill was only €102. It took quite a bit of explaining to the woman at reception, while using a calculator, to get the bill correct. I had asked to see a breakdown of the bill but was told there was none because of the new system. I was not given a print out of the charges for my stay. Very shady treatment. Be careful when you checkout to make sure you are not overcharged. If it weren't for the problems that I had experienced, I would have given the hotel a higher rating.

The hotel is great, staff very friendly and helpful. Location is perfect, you can walk from here to almost anywhere in Lille. A 4 minute walk to the grand place. Great rooms, good bed, perfect shower! View from the rooms is great, many windows in each room. Enjoyed our stay here and probably will stay again when in Lille.

My wife and I stayed here to celebrate her birthday after a trip on Euro Star. It is quite easy to find and not too far away from the railway station. Our room was very pleasant with a flat screen TV and nice bathroom. We would definitely stay here again in the future.

Stayed two nights after touring Belgium and found hotel easy to locate and able to garage the car (extra but only across street but go to reception first) All the staff were very professional.room clean and big enough for two. As other reviewers have said free l'occitane bathroom products and the fridge is restocked daily but no wine only beer water etc but excellent. Wifi good close to tourist strip and overall very convenient hotel.

We stayed in room 506 and 507 in August 2014. The building is not easy to miss. Too many egg-shaped windows. A nice quirky design feature. Parked the car, checked in and went up to our rooms. Room 507 must be their best room. Spacious, with a sitting area, comfortable bed, nice bathroom (shower only), good AC and excellent WiFi connection. And a huge terrace with a view. Runs the whole length of room 507. A summer retreat to lounge in the evening. Amazing. Room 506 was a normal room. Well appointed, but without a terrace or balcony. Breakfast was a very nice start of the day. A lot of choice and very well prepared. The staff seems to love their job. Service minded, cheerful and friendly on a daily basis. Smiles all around. How could you not like a stay in this place. We liked it a lot.

This hotel is in a very good location, rooms are clean and modern and good in size for a couple but definitely NOT for three even if he is a child. I did not like the idea that the toilet is separate as you need to go the bathroom anyway to wash hands (no sink in toilet). Another credit is you get a free mini bar.

We spent one night at this hotel. The staff were very helpful. The room ticks all the boxes, minibar and coffee all included . The room and bathroom were both clean and good quality towels. A place we would certainly visit again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel was centrally located and very close to the old city and shopping area. We stayed in a deluxe room, which is larger than a standard room. The mini bar was complementary. It also had a Nespresso machine and complementary coffee pods. The large bathroom contained a huge shower, good quality towels and amenities. The doors were wheel chair friendly. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. Staff were friendly and efficient.

I spent 3 nights here and was so happy with the room, the service and the location. The room was very clean, roomy and the bed very comfortable. It was extremely clean and the bathroom was a gem! Large shower with choice of rain shower or hand held. The hotel was within walking distance (about 5 minutes) from town centre. There was a laundromat across the road which I made use of. Overall, a great experience and top shelf hotel.

We like the hotel and the staff who worked there. The hotel is located near to the town square and to pedestrianised shopping area. There are good restaurants and eateries near by. If you can smile to the team on reception in the right way, you can get your request for a room above the 4th Floor. We were located in room 502 which was brilliant. A word of warning, if you and your partner are not exhibitionist, then this room isn't for you. Thankfully my wife is a hardened exhibitionist and was able to go about her business with the staff of the offices across the road being able to watch everything as they stood in the tea point for their extra long coffee breaks! There are net curtains, but the sun hits the bedroom windows all morning, so pointless if you want to hide your bum. The room was brilliant and will tick your 'like boxes' if it is your intention to go out and explore and not so good if you need afternoon naps. Once you open the windows the whole of France walks into your room, they do however provide some form of sound proofing when closed. The shower room was brilliant, with dressing gown and slippers provided. The toiletries were from Octane, oh la la. and the shower had a sliding door hiding a window, which once opened allowed your partner to watch you scrubbing yourself from their view point on the bed, (I didn't make a good job of making that sound romantic, but if you have a pulse, it's fun). The Bed was good and comfy, the décor lovely, the safe was free...Spain take note. The one downside was the mini bar which was 'free', but didn't work and generated a lot of heat. Simple ask at reception for cold replacements. Now you would have read in the reviews below that there is a smell in the lifts and it was lingering there when we stayed, nothing the hotel can do due to the floods that we read about a few months ago. The smell can be found all over the city centre. Don't blame the hotel management. Grin and bear it till you get up to the 4th, 5th and 6th Floor. If you are based on the 1st floor you will have it in your room. We didn't have breakfast at 15 Euros each as there are plenty of eateries in which to have breakfast which are a lot cheaper. Newspapers were available in reception and some were in English, but try and brush up on your French by looking at the French publications. Plus there is free fast wifi !!! I said this hotel is in a convenient location and it is, even the tourist information office is located about 200 metres away. Highly recommend this hotel for a city break. Have fun with it and have fun with the hotel staff, they are a great team. We will use this hotel again when we come back to Lille.

This is a very comfortable hotel with helpful staff. It is conveniently located a short distance from the old town. Our room was very pleasant with a comfortable bed and a large, powerful shower. We found the air conditioning efficient and quiet. The complimentary mini bar stocked with soft drinks and beer is a thoughtful touch. Previous reviewers mentioned the smell of drains in the lift. That is still there but it is only noticeable in the lift. We were on the third floor and were concerned about noise levels especially as we were there on the night of the Euro Football final. We could hear some noise but not enough to cause any problem. Breakfast was a bit disappointing so we only ate it once in the hotel. After that we went to 'Be Yourself' a cafe only a minute from the hotel and selling a great breakfast selection. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.

The hotel was lovely. We stayed in the suite and it was a lovely room with a large comfy bed and a huge balcony. Very peaceful hotel but right in the centre. The only downside was the cleaning service. We arrived at 2pm check in time and got told to come back in an hr. We came back at 4pm but the room still wasn't ready until 4.30pm. The next day we went out at 10am and came back at 4pm. Our room hadn't been cleaned and they knocked on the door at 5pm asking if we wanted it done. This was too late. Other than this the hotel was lovely and I would recommend.

Large clean European rooms with a free minibar. Comfortable bed. Friendly staff. Loved the in house fresh coffee in the morning. The location was great about a two minute from a large square that had a good selection of cafes, restaurants and shops.

My first stay in seventies themed hotel, I hope not my last. The receptionist went out of her way to make our stay remarkable, recommending restaurants making reservations and tell us about the town. Of all the places I stay and the service I receive, this one sticks out. Really unique and comfortable room, a room you don't want to leave. comfortable and light with a really amazing bathroom. The average breakfast is disappointing because they do everything else so well. Never the less, I would go out of my way to revisit Lille and stay here.

Great rooms with an outstanding design, the bathroom was one of the best I have ever been in. Great central location where you can discover Lille by feet. Very friendly staff that helped in every situation. Good services such as high speed internet for four devices and more.

I booked this hotel last minute as we had a weekend to ourselves kid free and I decided to drive to Lille. When we arrived the staff were very helpful and showed us where the car park was (located underground across the street in a secure garage). When we checked in we were taken to our room which was lovely, clean and lots of extras to be had as well especially when we were informed that the Mini bar in the room was free as well. I have to say the shower in the bathroom is the best shower I have ever used amazing so much so I'm going to be upgrading mine at home to the same one in the hotel. Overall good trip the only negative was that the restaurant is not open on the weekends which is a shame but nether the less still a very good stay.

There is a lot to like about this hotel, it is very reasonably priced for Europe, large rooms, well appointed, great shower, comfy bed, Nespresso, very friendly staff, convenient to the old town etc. Big ticks. The downside was the horrendous stench in the lifts (drifting into the lobby) and in the hallways (we were on the 1st floor). It is gut wrenching. Apparently it is 'underground water' which they can't do a lot about. It is undoubtedly sewage and you can hear it running beneath you when in the lift. The smell did also seep into the roo a little - not great. A real shame as it is otherwise great.

We stayed at the best western when we visited Lille for the Christmas Market. This place is in a perfect location close to the centre. Amazing value for money - free fast wifi, great reception staff, nice bar and rooms are of a high standard. We were shocked at just how great this hotel was for the price paid. Would highly recommend.

Just had a two night stay here. Thought the room was great, very clean, comfortable bed. Shower was fun...in fact a real eye opener. Location was very good, but as some have mentioned can be a little noisy of a nighttime, but didn't bother us. The bar was good with the drinks not being any more expensive than any of the bars around the city. Staff were also very friendly. Thoroughly recommended.

The location of this modern hotel is perfect although, because it is a busy eating area, there is some noise at night (my room was on second floor-perhaps less if you are higher up). My queen sixpze room was fine for one person, but would be small for two. Shower and Le Occitane products ere wonderful. The o ly thing that stops me giving this hotel a five star rating was that there was a horrible smell of sewers in the lift. Fortunately the smell did not extend to the room!

We stayed here on a romantic weekend and the room facilities were exceptional. Luxurious towels, good size room, ingenious walk in shower and nespresso coffee maker. All in a central location we couldn't have asked for more.

The hotel was located in the down town center of Lille. It is about 5 minuts walk to the Grand place where you can enjoy most of the landmark of Lille downtown. It is about 1 minute walkt to the art museum. the hotel room 602 has wonderful view of the city. It has 7 windows in total. Free mini bar makes your stay even better. There are a few bars and resturaunt around the hotel buiding which are good place to relax. It is among one of best hotel that I have even stayed with. I definitely will stay in the same hotel if I visit Lille again.

It has been some time since I had this excellent feeling when entering a hotel room. The room was very nice, warm and comfortable. Especially the bathroom was very nice. We had free non-alc drinks, coffee and tee from a coffee machine in the room. Somehow the room made me feel very welcome. The location of the hotel is excellent, as it's only a 5 minutes walk to the grand place. I would definitely recommend this hotel to everyone!

Having spent some time travelling round Europe we wanted a bit of a treat for our last night before returning to the UK so booked a suite. Wow, what a treat! The room was huge with a fab balcany. Lovely well appointed bathroom. Great toiletries and fridge full of free drink. The room was so well layer out, everything was just where you'd want it to be eg mini lights by the bed, electric plug just by the bed. We've stayed at quite a few 5 star hotels which were less comfortable. The staff we lovely and so very helpful. All in all an amazing and great value stay.

We stayed in a deluxe room which was enormous for French standards with an equally enormous bathroom (probably because it was also fit for weelchairs). The room was very comfortable, kingsize bed, Nespresso coffee machine, complementary minibar, fantastic rain shower, products from L'Occitane, big flatscreen tv, bathrobes, you name it. We just loved it. Breakfast was also nice; different kinds of cheese, eggs, cereal, fruit, yoghurt, pastries, too much to try everything. The only part I didn't like was the check-in. We arrived at 13.50, check-inn is from 14.00 but they kept us waiting untill 14.20 before there was a room available. Also the woman at the desk was not very friendly at that time, providing no info about the parking spaces for example, looking really annoyed when you asked questions. Later on we had no more complaints about the desk-staff. Also, the hotel is located in the centre and weekendnights do get a little loud outside. It was no problem for me, I just mention it.

This hotel is very modern, and the rooms are beautiful! The staff and everyone who works there are very friendly, had a nice breakfast as well (lots of cheese, which I love). Would highly highly recommend :)

Stayed for just one night, but will definitely be back. Very attractive hotel and room. Extremely warm welcome. Very well appointed room and great bar which was popular on the Friday evening, with guests and locals. Brilliant location for seeing the sites.

I stayed in this hotel back in August 2015 for 6 nights, but I'm sure nothing has changed. The Best Western Why is probably the best hotel I ever stayed at in terms of comfort and modern functionality. Amazing and practical room with an amazing bathroom. 5 Minutes after entering my room, there was a knock on the door. I was being delivered a courtesy tray with strawberry and cookies. Luxury amenities throughout and a fully stock and complimentary mini bar was at my disposal. Very quiet room with 7 windows that opened (They either tilt or fully open - Your choice). Breakfast was good in the main floor dining room with the possibility to eat outside when the weather is nice. Staff was amazing as well. Got a great summer rate, but will return if I can manage to get a good deal again next time I return to Lille. FYI: There's an great self laundry right across the street. Very modern machines and affordable.

We found this hotel a great place to stay. Our room was really comfortable , clean and spacious. It was a perfect locations to base ourselves as close walking distance to everything. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Keep up the good work.

Rooms are modern but not spacey for this hotel. Location is ok, 8 min from train station Flanders , add another 6 min for Europe. Many windows in the room that I had, same for my colleague. Breakfast was good, but no capuccinos, only Nespresso coffee available. Wifi fast and stable throughout the stay. Staff was also helpfull

Location: excellent, minutes from several major area attractions and shopping, restaurants. Rooms: very modern, comfortably appointed and clean with perhaps the exception of the drapes. Anyone with dust allergy will suffer unless windows remain open. Ambience: Lovely during the week but on weekend nights only upper floors will save you from street noises from the bar patrons on the block. Bathrooms: These deserve a special mention as they are quite fabulous by French standards and by Best Western standards. Showers are FULLY enclosed and have TWO showerheads-one rainfall overhead and a large hand-held. The shower enclosure in my room was large enough for a family of four and was equipped with mood lighting. See room tip for more info. The Bathroom sink was very trendy in design and the toilet could be closed off to become a separate room or not. The staff is bi-lingual: French/English and very willing to be helpful at any time.

For a long time now, I had been avoiding Best Western hotels like the plague as a result of my first encounter with the hotel chain many years ago. This has all gone out the window following our stay at the BW Premier Why Hotel, located in central Lille close to attractions, shops and restaurants. Approximately 15 minutes walk to/from Lille Europe train station. A simply exceptional hotel well deserving of its #1 rank on Trip Advisor, brought about by the following; - clean and stunningly designed rooms with a delightfully modern shower expelling the perfect amount of pressure in the water; - the provision of top quality bedding, linen and toiletries. The bed and pillows were soft and astoundingly comfortable. Add in bathrobes and slippers and you have the epitome of luxury right in front of your eyes; - a free mini-bar containing water and several alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Always a nice touch although the fridge wasn't cold; and - friendly, welcoming and helpful staff members. Unfortunately, I could not give a perfect score as the hotel is also located on an intersection connecting several streets that can get quite rowdy in the evening/post-midnight, which will affect your sleep. In addition, coaches regularly park opposite the hotel at different times during the day/night with their engines on which can get quite distracting. Furthermore, given the proximity of the bedroom windows to the streets and the fact that the hotel only has 6 floors, it is difficult to get privacy without completely closing your curtains. We did initially request for quiet room when we made the booking so naturally, we were disappointed to be given the first floor. Notwithstanding, we had a pleasant stay and will be happy to recommend our friends and family, particularly those who are medium to heavy sleepers!

Our stay at the Why Hotel started well. The location of the hotel really is fantastic. We also liked that the minibar was included in the price of the deluxe room. However, we expected more. The (deluxe) room was slightly smaller than we had anticipated, access to the lift from the reception was not very nice, there was a coffee machine with sugar but no spoons, and the croissants at breakfast were not great. These minor inconveniences could have been forgiven/forgotten had we not made the mistake to order room service. Room service options were very limited & uninspiring, so we decided to follow the recommendations of the receptionist. The food was brought to us after a significant wait, and had not been covered for its trip from the kitchen you our room (4 star service???). The smell was awful, and the taste even worse. We left most of the food in the tray that we put outside our room as quickly as we could. (If you read reviews of people complaining about the bad smell of floor number 4, it could be related...)

A really good find. If anything the room was a little cramped but that's being quite picky because in general terms my stay here was really good. Friendly, clean and everything worked. The shower was superb and bathroom spacious. This is a definite YES in the "would I stay again" test!

We stayed for a few days here and were not disappointed. It is a bit of a walk from the train station, you can obviously take a taxi but it was nice to walk through the city to get to it. Obviously, the hotel has a really unique look from the outside with the circular windows. It also showed inside with the design inside being equally trendy. Our room was well equipped and was very comfortable and quiet. The breakfast was also good, but quite basic, which I think is fairly normal in Europe for the medium sized hotels. But sufficed and the staff were very attentive when we needed help.

Our annual visit to the Lille Christmas Market - this time with a Jr Suite ??. Room not ready but it was worth the wait! Lovely hotel, friendly and helpful staff. Pre nook parking as there are limited spaces and parking is at a premium when the Christmas Market is on.

This is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at. Everything was simply done right. Great attention to detail showed in everything. I would almost want to stay here again just for the hotel experience itself, which is rare. The only little glitch was that it wasn't clear where to put the car when we'd just arrived, but once that was sorted we were very happy with the space in the private parking garage. Our hotel room oozed luxury and comfort. I'd absolutely recommend it to anyone visiting Lille.

Definately one of the best city centrehotels that we have stayed at, especially in terms of value for money! It has been furnished and decorated to a very high standard, and perhaps more importantly the standard of customer service was exceptional. The excellent breakfast buffet at 16 euros is well worth making the most of. Location, location, location? right in the city centre, less than 5 minutes walk from the Christmas market! Car parking can be arranged by the hotel, however we found the nearby Printemps department store car park costing 15 euros for overnight garaging. Entrance is close to the tourist office.

Our dash from the Eurostar station to the hotel under the rain was around 5-10min. The hotel had a retro style and feel and was well presented, which everyone liked. Our stay was great considering the constant rain and the occasional snow fall, which was great from the huge egg-shaped windows. We had two incidents that entailed one lost earring in the bathroom sink and a lost teddy bear in the room after checkout. In both cases the staff were very helpful even though the earring was not recovered initially. We chose to have breakfast in the hotel and overall it was great. Our little one was so impressed with the room and shower that he wanted us to move in as it was better than home. Kids!!!

stayed at the Best Western lille last week, quite easy to find and there was parking, very friendly staff at reception and also very helpfull, The room was very clean and tidy - my youngest daughter slept on the sofa bed which again had no complaints, big suprise was the bathroom which was almost the size of the room, large walkin shower, hairdryer, shaving mirror, free shampoo and soaps, there were little packets of extra's everywhere, The only down side was it was quite noisey outside and in of the room. Breakfast was plentyfull, with the customary croissants, cakes, selection of cheeses and meat/salmon, there was cooked food available as well, mushroom, sausages, tomatoes, scrambled eggs, selection of breads, jams, coffee/teas was ordered,, fruit juices, selection of nuts, seeds and prunes, so no need to leave hungry, overall a lovely stay, at a very reasonable price, the only minus would be it was quite noisey

one of the best hotels I stayed in a while, bathroom was great, with occitane stuff, bed excellent, great view, free minibar!!!! City is gorgeous and the hotel is really close to the center, it's also very close to the metro station which basically takes you everywhere. I was very pleasantly surprised.

It was a pleasant a stay. Rooms are tastfully decorated and well lighted. Bathroom nice and proper size. Wi-fi fast. Bed very comfortable. Breakfast tasty (well, and addition in the form of boiled eggs would be nice). It is in the center of Lille but traffic is not heavy. They serve very good lunch in the hotel restaurant. Staff is nice, attentive. You do not need anything more from a good city hotel. I am very satisfied and thankfull as I escaped to Why from another really miserable place in the middle of the night.

We stayed here for 4 nights. I believe we were on the fifth floor and two huge oval windows overlooked Rue des Fosses. While not a view in any spectacular way, there was always something going on and I could lie in bed and watch the neighbourhood wake up, the girls show up for work in the very expensive hairdressing salon opposite, cars park in impossibly small spaces or park other cars in etc. The in-room Nespresso machine was very, very welcome and although there was a free mini-bar, the fridge was barely cold so the drinks were not of great value to us. A nice touch regardless. The desk staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a great spot. We have been to Lille before and stayed at the Crowne Plaza which is near stations but not the city centre. This was much better, There are lots of places to eat in and around Place Rihour and Lille has a nice shopping precinct. We also used this as a base to go to Bruges and Ypres which worked really well.

The hotel management knew the hotel was not reachable by car on Saturday evening (due to events taking place in Central Lille) and provided no notice. Impossible to get there, and impossible to meet people too. The bare minimum would be to warn customers ahead of the event taking place. Besides, the hotel rooms on the street are noisy. You can easily hear people in the Streets, just speaking. I clealy do not recommend the place for those wishing to sleep quietly, and I must condemn the total lack of service provided ahead of the arrival

Really lovely, tastefully decorated hotel with pleasant & friendly staff. We stayed in a deluxe room on the 6th floor which had a huge shower, king size bed, coffee machine, sofa bed, fluffy bath robes, slippers & complimentary mini bar. The only alcoholic drinks in the mini bar are 2 cans of lager but there is Coke, fruit juice and water too. There is a docking station for your iPhone on the alarm clock. The room was very clean and spacious. The friendly staff provided us with a map of Lille and they all spoke perfect English which put my French to shame. Lille is a beautiful city with plenty of bars, cafes, restaurants & shops.

I chose this hotel after seeing the reviews on Tripadvisor. Stayed here 4 nights last week. I was impressed by the standard & comfort of the rooms, the friendliness, helpfulness and politeness of the staff - particularly Stephanie (she changed my room to another one with bath- tub without any fuss) & Thomas on reception as well as everyone on the breakfast-serving team. The room was a good-size one, with the greatest bed I ever slept in (my own included) and with an great-size bath & shower. The Nespresso machine and free minibar in the room were an added-bonus and quite a surprise since none of the other Best Western hotels I stayed in before provided this service. The room is cleaned every day and the toiletries & towels used replaced promptly. A great choice of good quality products awaits you in the breakfast room: cold meats,smoked salmon,a variety of cheeses and yoghurts, pastries, waffles,the sweetest pancakes, Also, a good variety of jams and compotes (please try the pear & orange one, you will not regret it!) In addition, they have a covered patio as well where you can take breakfast as well as a seating area in front of the hotel where people can take a drink or smoke. I had a great stay and enjoyed the beauty and great food & atmosphere of Lille. Will definitely be back. (Small bemol - the lightning in the bathroom is very poor, even with the magnifying mirror, it's difficult to apply make-up)

Booked hotel on the Internet for one (Saturday) night....including reserving Car Park space (one of the main reasons I chose this hotel).....unfortunately had booked and prepaid without facility to cancel Spoke to hotel before departure from UK to get directions to Hotel....only to be told there was Antiques Fair on at that weekend and that there was no access by car to both the Hotel and the Hotel's Car Park until Monday. Tried to cancel then .....but told not possible without 100% payment (already taken). Arrived outside Lille....parked outside town & dragged suitcases on foot across town (no Taxis either !)......on arrival asked for quiet room (as requested on booking)...to be told all rooms same noise level.....no 'rear' rooms....as they said 'all rooms are noisy'...again tried to cancel but weren't interested....however they did say would quieten down at 2300......not true.. Spent most of the night awake listening to road cleaning machines .....sounded like they were driving around the bedroom!....double glazing useless. Felt I had been let down by previous reviews on this Hotel.............my Daughter & her Husband stayed in the Barriere (we moved over there)......much nicer hotel all round. If this is rated Number 1 Hotel in Lille.....would hate to see the worst !

Don't normally stay in this hotel,was worried that on my dates was not a lot of the better ones to go for as most were selling fast went for this one,normally stay in one off the older ones,as you normally get a bigger room but bathrooms are poor,this was correct about this one.The rooms are quite small but it doesn't matter that much as your out most of the time,shower is good with liquid shampoos free and good quality brands as said on their information page,a little tip to lady's this is very nice hotel but do not give hair conditioners for hair,my wife wanted,not a problem for me but she wasn't happy she will bring her own next time as we will be coming back.Breakfasts are excellent and wi if and all extras work well including the free bar which is filled up,only if you ask as our wasn't only once,staff are nice people everyone throughout the hotel was excellent,including the maintainance man who came very quickly as we had a problem with the safe,which my wife used the wrong code,was sorted very quickly,regretted not tipping the guy as it was our fault,nice chap,Lille people in general are really friendly to Brits,lovel coming to Lille over Paris,no way it's this gem of a place to stay,shopping is enjoyable and that's weird from a man,but beers are great as you have best of France and Belguim foods and beers,had a good time and can't wait to return next year here again

stayed at this hotel in early September 2015 on business. room was a reasonable size (for a European room). the room seems to have been recently renovated. hotel was clean, internet was reasonably good speed. restaurant served an average buffet breakfast for 15Eur. Location was a very short stroll from many restaurants.

That's Why it's called Best western because it is great location and a great hotel don't miss out on this one very clean the bar is a it pricey there are plenty of bars not far from there just a 10 minute walk .The staff were very helpful I would defiantly visit again

It's the second time I booked a room in this hotel because I was charmed by the design of the interior (high tech) and the comfortable bed and the nice bathroom with a rain shower. Staff are very polite and nice, very helpful.

My husband and I stayed there before our departure back to Canada and we wished we could have stayed longer. The hotel was clean, nice location and excellent staff - we definitely would go back and highly recommend it.

Not the cheapest Hotel in Lille but well worth the money. Staff very friendly and very helpful. Hotel was very clean and presentable. Room ( Queen ) was a good size and modern and the bed was comfy. Only had breakfast, which was good enough. Hotel well situated for the Superb range of restaurants. Would definately stay there again.

We picked this hotel for an anniversary break based on its #1 ranking on tripadvisor and we were definitely not disappointed. The hotel is officially 4* but I struggle to see where it loses the 5th. The room, as well as being funky and individual ,was well equipped with all the usuals plus the added luxuries of an iPod dock, air con,Nespresso machine and complimentary mini bar. The staff on reception were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was included in our room rate and was basic (mainly cold continental) but delicious. We would definitely recommend this place to anyone considering Lille.

We booked a one night stay at this modern hotel at short notice after reading reviews on TA. We weren't disappointed. Rooms not particularly large, but very clean and well appointed. Good location, great value and fabulously helpful and welcoming front desk staff. Will definitely visit again.

This hotel was superb. The room was lovely - a cross between the White Company and Apple! The staff were very helpful and the location was fantastic - central but not on a main route. Lovely huge bed and a massive bathroom. Can't wait to go back.

Love it, love it! The staff were so helpful after we had had a horrible six-hour car journey. The bar is delightful, and the funky design of the room gave it a very trendy and unique feel. The staff recommended a restaurant for dinner that was a perfect choice for us and it was only a few hundred yards' walk. They even gave us a card that entitled us to a 10% discount at the restaurant. In the morning, the bar is converted to the breakfast room, with no signs remaining that it was a lively bar the night before! Panels drop down to hide the glasses and spirits and provide a mural background to the lavish display of pastries and cooked foods. The server provided us with a carafe of coffee that she readily replaced when we had finished it. Parking is secure and only a few yards' walk from the front door of the hotel.

A good location 10/15 minutes walk from the train station ,taxi about 10 euros , a boutique style hotel , very friendly staff , a good location for getting about from , nice rooms , nice breakfast ( not included in price of room but at 15 euros we thought worth it ) .Altogether a good hotel that we would recommend if you wanted to stay in Lille

We stayed in Lille at the start of August for a long weekend. We arrived by car and chose this hotel as it offered car parking - something many city hotels do not have. The hotel is around the corner from the tourist office and the Grand Place so the location is really very central. We arrived at the weekend. So we were told, the street parking is actually free on Saturday/ Sunday but we were happy to find that the hotel parking is in a secure underground location about 50m from the hotel. The staff are very friendly, a problem with the in room safe was fixed straight away. We had a corner room. We liked the unusual shape, different to the usual square box with a bathroom in the corner. The room was very clean, light and well decorated in a modern way. The surprise was that the mini bar contents were included and there was a Nespresso coffee machine too! Oh, and the wifi was good and free. I happily Skyped family back home. The shower was very nice and the bed was large and comfortable. The room was also quiet throughout our stay. The hotel has a good sized breakfast room that extends to a terrace on the street that is quite popular. Around the hotel and very close there is also a good collection of cafes, there is a laundrette and you are close to pedestrian shopping areas and restaurant street. There is also a Monoprix supermarket close by. After a good walk around Lille we had seen a lot of the other hotels that we considered, we decided that we had made the best choice by far in our price range. I travel a lot for work and spend around 25 weeks a year in hotels. I can honestly say that this place is up there with any of the big brands for the service, comfort and the room. I really could not fault it.

We stayed underway from south of France and combined with a visit at the impressive Louvre in Lance (Lens). Large premier room, well sound insulated wrt the street combined with very quiet aircon, massive walk in shower, good beds. Secure parking in separate building at 50 meters. Location is good, shopping area and restaurants all at walking distance. Plenty choice breakfast and friendly staff. The 60-ties style exterior and interior appeals.

It is a good stopping off spot before making a long trek to southern parts - in our case Austria. Helpful reception gave us directions to a wide selection of restaurants which was really useful. Nice and central.

Excellent facilities operated by charming and hospitable staff. Convenient central location. Great value for money. The atmosphere of the hotel with it's modern décor was very calming. I recommend this hotel for a weekend getaway and will return if I'm in the area.

The hotel is extremely well located. Very modern, the rooms are quite unique (design and accommodations). Very clean and very up-to-date. The quality of service is excellent,, especially at the reception desk. A unique place if you want to walk downtown and enjoy Lille. The only concern might be the parking. Please use the parking at Place de la République, nearby. We will come back, for sure!

Stayed here for 2 nights whilst visiting Lille. Very central. Lovely big comfortable bed. Breakfast was exceptional. When we checked in we were given a room next to the lift which we objected to and had it changed without question.
