The hotel caters for groups and parties (I guess that's where the money is) and doesn't seem to care so much about independent travellers. On Saturday evening, the reception area was packed (gathering for a birthday party there) and it was hard to make your way through to get in or out. The bar was closed for another group - a hotel closing the bar on a Saturday evening! Then loud party noise and disco/karaoke till 1am (no sleep!) Certainly there are some positives - good location quite near to the railway station, an art deco/art nouveau feel, pleasant staff.
This hotel is nicely appointed with friendly staff. We used the free metro cards provided and the hotel is convenient to the station. Our room was spacious with a lovely balcony. Our trip was just one night so we didn't take full advantage of this lovely hotel and city. Our platform bed frame was noisy simply when rolling over or my rating would be higher. I have no problem recommending this place.
My sisters and I stayed in a room with 3 twin beds. There was plenty of room for us and our belongings. We enjoyed the balcony with a view of the lake and downtown. The staff was helpful and professional.
I can't say enough good things about Hotel Mirabeau. It is extremely clean and quiet. Everyone who works there is very helpful and courteous. The restaurant serves excellent food. The breakfast is very good. We were on the fifth floor and had a balcony. The views of the lake and distant France were drop-dead gorgeous. The property is very easy to find from the train station. We climbed the hill with luggage the first day. We are in our 60s, had luggage, and found it doable. But after that, we simply took the number 1 tram from the train station (located to the right of the station when leaving) and went one stop to the Mirabeau stop.
Stayed for 2 nights with a tour group, enjoyed a very nice meal served to us in their garden, a lovely evening made our last days very good, location was good, but a steady uphill walk from the railway station, it was hot whilst there , the a/c was of limited capability, thus rooms were quite hot, beds comfortable, masses of pillows, bathroom was adequate, with plenty of mirrors in the room appealing to my spouse, breakfast was good, omelettes etc upon request.
Mirabeau hotel is well maintained old building but the service was great. I had very nice stay, staff were helpful and courteous, room was super clean, breakfast were great, and location is great, very close to train station. I will be back!
Absolutely charming and perfect hotel for my 1 week visit to Lausanne. Excellent location, quiet but convenient to everything. Lovely staff, so kind, so helpful, made my solo stay completely stress free. Fantastic room with small balcony, Lake view, two other big windows facing Lake Geneva. Very comfortable big bed, big bathtub, nice writing desk, mini fridge, coffee maker, just perfect. The breakfast was delicious and I had one dinner in the top shelf restaurant. Highly recommend.
It would be hard to imagine a nicer stay in Lausanne. Convenient to the train station yet away from its hubbub, Mirabeau is a belle époque historic hotel with art déco interior touches. Everything is spotless and beautifully maintained. Staff are friendly, efficient, and helpful, even upgrading us to a suite of their own initiative. The restaurant is also superb, with impeccable service and delicious traditional fare. Public transport up and down the steep hills of the city is right at hand. Highly recommended.
Arrived in this conveniently located hotel, and was given an upgrade. The room was fantastic and the staff friendly and very helpful. Food in the restaurant was goos also.
It is a pleasant stay experience in Best Western Plus. We stayed here for 6 days and thanks to its good location, we are able to take the train to many places near Lausanne by train using Swiss Pass. We come with a family. With the help of Sara from the Front Desk, we updated our room with a Murphy bed for my son. There is a balcony where I can see the Lake Geneva and the street. Also the breakfast buffet is in good quality with egg boiler so that we can have different taste of the eggs.
Staff are courteous and accommodating. Room is big and good amenities. Quiet area. Good location as it is near the train station, restaurants and grocery store. English speaking staff. Excellent bed and pillows. Family friendly hotel.
Super happy with this hotel for a 2 night family stay. Reception staff were friendly and helpful, breakfast was awesome (and the lady running it was terrific), location was great - close to train station, waterfront and Christmas market. 2 room family suite was perfect for our teenagers with separate bedroom, very spacious. We'd stay here again in a heartbeat!
Perfect hotel for a short stay. We just love the charm and style of the Mirabeau. The building is quite superb and it has so many authentic styling features. Your Christmas decorations added the final touch to a perfect stay.
The hotel is walking distance from train station and metro. Staff most helpful. Room was great as was the restaurant. We were given a free metro pass to go to the castle area and historic area. I would very much recommend a stay at this hotel.
Warm staff at reception, individual rooms with period colours, lovely little bar downstairs. Breakfast buffet is worth the money. Would highly recommmend for anyone wishing to stay centrally and who appreciates an older world charm and flair.
Stayed for one night. On arrival the guy in reception was super friendly and helpful. Makes such a difference when hotel staff make you so welcome! Likewise, when departing the hotel, nothing was too much hassle for the reception staff! Thanks for a very enjoyable evening!
Started off badly. We arrived with a tour group at about 7pm on 17 June tired and hungry. At our previous hotel on the tour, we were given a lovely welcome by the hotel manager, but this time we were greeted by a very grumpy young woman and when I stated that we had a reservation for dinner, she said very abruptly “the restaurant is full”, I said again we have a reservation. She said “you will have to speak to your tour director ”. Luckily our marvellous tour director went to the restaurant and confirmed our reservation whilst we went to our room. Subsequent dealings with other reception staff found them friendly and helpful. We had our meal outside on the terrace. The service was good and so was the meal, if a little expensive. The room was small but had everything you needed. Comfortable bed, small balcony, air conditioning, blackout curtains plus exterior roll down blind, so no noise from outside. Nice touches like slippers, shampoo, shower gel etc and magnifying mirror in bathroom. Free bottle of water and a fridge. Large TV with British channels including BBC 1. Good polite service at breakfast with both hot and cold buffet options, including scrambled eggs, smoked salmon, cheeses, yoghurts, cereals etc. Evening meal with our tour was a fixed menu outside on the terrace, good quality food and when I stated I didn't like the gratin potato on the menu, they readily replaced it with boiled potatoes. The service was friendly and efficient. However, if you are of limited mobility, this hotel is a 10-15 minute walk up hill from the train station, but I think you could probably take a bus. It is a 20 minute walk downhill to the lakeside. Return journey uphill or by using the metro and a walk or bus.
I have very mixed feelings about our stay at this hotel. The welcome and the Customer service we received at check in were fantastic. The lady at the desk was most helpful and did all she could to assist us. Great start. The room was fine for our needs, very comfortable beds and everything we needed. After that not so good. Service in the restaurant is pretentious to say the least. If they don't like the look of you, you are ignored. If they like you, you are fawned over. All reminiscent of Basil Fawlty really. The was fine, nothing exceptional but nice overall. Then the breakfast……. We had a very early start so we booked an early bird breakfast box for 6.00am. There is signage in the lobby that you simply order your box at reception, which we did. Nowhere on the sign and at no time when I ordered it was it explained that you had to collect the box yourself from reception. We assumed incorrectly that it would be delivered to our room. By 6.15 and no sign of its being delivered we went to reception to be informed it was there awaiting us! The signage said croissant and coffee, plus fruit and yoghurt. The croissant was replaced with 2 stale and dry ham and cheese sandwiches and an empty cup, presumable for coffee, where from? By now we were going to be late for our early train so we checked out and left, but very unhappy, in a rush and without a nice breakfast. As I said, mixed feelings, mixed review. Started great, ended badly. Hotel is in a great location, close to all forms of transport and the rooms are nice.
We stayed in an upper floor room with a view of Lake Geneva. It was wonderful to open the windows and enjoy the view and the fresh air. This hotel is close to the train station and the metro which we used to go to Ouchy to walk along the promenade alongside the Lake and to visit the Olympic Museum.
We were a few days in the hotel, but the stay was pleasant and confortable. Great location, near to the train station, which is important because all people move by train. Very kindness people in front desk and I want to highlight to service room in the night. The guy who served was very attentive and helpful. Finally We would return to this hotel without thinking.
This is the 2nd time we stayed at the BW Mirabeau. A special thanks to Hamid for making our stay memorable. Not only did he helped us with our luggages and recommendation for restaurants, he went all the way out to help make our bed firmer, due to my wife lower back issues. It really helped my wife get better the next day. His personality, dedication and service, make this stay really special to us. He has really raised the bar to what genuine service is all about.
We stayed in the lakeview suite which offered incredible views of Lake Geneva. There was a separate living room and bedroom, and a large bathroom with a second toilet. Lots of great amenities and the buffet breakfast is a must. A 5 minute walk from the train station and it's situated between the old town and Ouchy so the location couldn't be better.
I'm often cone to this place and all the time have one;y nice feeling and compliments to the staff. I like this place for comfort in the room, good food in the breakfast. A view through the window of my room was fantastic.
We stayed at a family suite for 1 night in August. When we booked the hotel we had the impression that the breakfast was included in the room rate just like all Best Western hotels in US. Numerous websites (such as google map and guest reviews on TripAdvisor) stated that this hotel provided free breakfast. It turned out not to be true. We had a light breakfast there, when we checked out, we were told that breakfast was not included and were charged CHF25 per person for the breakfast. The breakfast was expensive - it contained mainly cold food and we ate very little. Should we know before hand that it was not included in the room rate we would have eaten somewhere else. The hotel was also not handicapped friendly. To get to the lobby from the street, one must climb the stairs, there's no other way around. On the plus side, the room was nice and spacious. Overall it was a somewhat disappointing stay due to the unpleasant surprise of extra charges at checking out.
Change of plans had us in Lausanne and we are so glad we chose the Hotel Mirabeau. The room was sparkling clean, comfortable and had beautiful style. The view amazing for a storm over Lake Geneva and the staff was wonderful. They made the effort to accommodate a third day for us that we so appreciated. Breakfast was among the best we had on our whole trip and just made this stay that much better. Only a 15 minute walk to the new Platform 10 area to enjoy the varied museums. We highly recommend the Mirabeau!
Just a 10-15 minute walk from the train station and Metro, this is a charming hotel with great staff and fantastic breakfast and dinner. At the front desk VICTOR was amazing to give great advice to tour the city and is obvious he loves his job!
Stayed at the Hotel Mirabeau last November and absolutely loved it! The staff was friendly and made our stay comfortable and personal. We do not speak any Swiss German or French but the staff spoke excellent English. They also gave us suggestions of things to see and do and how to take the train. Our room was amazing! We had the junior suite on the 2nd floor. It has vaulted ceilings, two balconies one of which was an extra large balcony with an alp and lake view, and it has the cutest boat/sailing décor. We included the awesome breakfast which had both American and European breakfast offerings. We also loved the bar and restaurant for dinner. The hotel is just a block from the train station and 15 minute walk to the Olympic Museum and Lake Geneva. Will certainly stay again and highly recommend it.
Nice facility located close to Lausanne station. The rooms are well maintained and offers a nice view of Lake. The restaurant is very good. Most of the attractions in Lausanne is within walking distance from the hotel. Free transit pass is an advantage in staying at this hotel.
Second time at this hotel. Reception is extremely professional, friendly, and super helpful! Hotel itself is great location. Breakfast people, mainly one main middle age/younger guy is quite aggressive, and I recall him from last trip same. I did say something to reception and on last day he was very different… Dinner, we ate once, it is great food even though more expensive than most restaurants… very worth it! First time around, it was also great! BUT again, service… very hectic and aggressive, especially if you do not speak French. For this money it is not acceptable. Again, , just one person who I recall from last trip, is just how he is… but on that particular evening it was too much and its not like he was doing us a favour… we actually pay for our meal… and quite a lot! The girls working there on the other hand, are very professional and exactly how it should be! On our evening dinner, food was served very quickly with that we did not have issues. I would definitely stay again at this hotel but would think twice before having dinner there or even Breakfast… as in Lausanne there are SO MANY AMAZING restaurants and EVERY TIME ALL PEOPLE in the other restaurants are so friendly!!! P.S. I give average service, only because of the restaurant 2 particular staff. NOT because of reception who ware amazing!
Just smooth check in, beautiful room with a view of the street in front. Nice breakfast and humble people at service. We could check in 3 hours before the scheduled time as they preferred giving us the room since my 6 years old daughter was tired and asleep. I strongly suggest this property
We spent 3 nights at the Hotel Mirabeau in April 2022. The hotel is immaculate, rooms, hallways, restaurant - everywhere. Hotel is very centrally located, and with the Lausanne transportation pass you can take the metro up or down the hills, or to the villages along the lake for free during your stay. The breakfast buffet was very good, large selection of hot and cold items. The chocolate croissants were a particular favorite. We booked 2 rooms, one a regular room and the 2nd a balcony room. The hotel upgraded the regular room so we were next door to each other. The balcony room was lovely - a balcony with table and 2 chairs, a sofa, chair, desk, coffee table and fridge in addition to our king size bed. I'd recommend springing for the balcony room. Bed was very soft but comfortable. There was plenty of room for 4 adults to sit around and visit. We would definitely stay here again.
We were so very fortunate to stay in suite 501. It was gorgeous: bright and spacious with a spectacular view of Lake Geneva. We woke up each of five mornings feeling so grateful to the hotel for assigning this room to us. Also, I needed to have a business meeting on the last night, and the sitting area was perfect for my guests. All live in Lausanne, so I'm sure they'll remember this hotel when making future lodging plans for visitors.
We stayed here for two nights during our 14 day train trip through Switzerland. It's about a 10-12 minute walk from the train station and is straight up a hill. So if you have luggage, walk on the left side of the street going up the hill until you are directly across from the hotel, then cross the street. This is a beautiful traditional hotel that was built in 1911 with a multilingual staff that were very helpful. We were given a double room with air conditioning and a shower on an upper floor that had a balcony with views of Lake Geneva. We absolutely loved the balcony and sat out one evening for hours. The rooms have cable TV, mini-bar, in-room safe, free wi-fi and wired internet. Our bathroom shower was small with a shower curtain around it instead of glass (hard to contain the water). Breakfast was included with our reservation and it was excellent. It was served buffet style with a variety of hot and cold food in the hotel's restaurant. We loved this hotel and highly recommend it.
The hotel is uphill from the main train station, in an old building. Check in was good. The receptionists were helpful and speak good English. The room and bathroom are small, typical European. Bedding were good. The shower is in a bathtub with high side and no handheld to get in and out, quite dangerous for old folks or not nimble persons. Did not get the rate with breakfast but we ate dinner there once. Expensive but good food.
If you want to do a short Family trip to Lausanne this hotel will be the perfect place to stay. It is close to the railway station for those that prefer to come by train but it also has sufficient parking lots for those coming by car, but i would recommend to reserve the parking when booking. 25 CHF per day is an excellent price for this area. The Entry Hall and Reception of the Hotel are in classic design. The service at the Reception is amazing, very attentive and makes you feel special. The restaurant and bar are very good and the rooms are spacious- I can recommend the Family suite with and extra room for two kids. In a few minutes you can reach by foot the Cathedral, the City Center and many places to dine or just enjoy a drink. The public transport Ticket you get as part of the package allow you to leverage Bus and Metro and reach in Minutes the Lakeside and Olympic Museum. My family and I can see not recommend this place.
Stayed here for 3 nights and enjoyed every minute. Within a few minutes walk of the main railway station (up a hill), The Hotel Mirabeau is a typical Swiss building, full of character, and is beautiful and elegant inside. We qualified for a room upgrade and had a balcony with a table and chairs and a lake view. The room was spotlessly clean and well equipped, including a tea tray, mini bar and a safe large enough to take a laptop. Plenty of storage space. A large, comfortable bed with white bed linen and 2 separate duvets (I love that idea - no tugging at the duvet in the middle of the night ...!!!). The bathroom wasn't huge but more than adequate and spotlessly clean with fluffy white towels. Plenty of toiletries provided and replenished each day. Breakfast is served in the restaurant and the white linen table cloths and napkins make it an elegant occasion and a lovely way to start the day. There is a range of hot and cold dishes with typical continental breakfast choices and was very enjoyable. A free Lausanne travel pass issued by the hotel gave us access to trains, buses and the Metro in the Lausanne region for the duration of our stay. By train you can travel as far as Cully down the lake and it's well the worth the trip (about 20 mins with regular trains) for the wonderful views of the lake and the Lavaux vineyards. A must see. Will definitely stay here again in the future and highly recommend.
Nice 1920s decorated hotel which looks classy rather than tired. 10mins from the main train station so ideal for Lausanne. As Lausanne is on two levels Lake Geneva below and the old town on a higher level this is in the middle so best of both worlds. Staff were all very friendly and breakfast was well stocked with hot and cold offerings. If you wanted more cooked breakfast than was offered there was a separate menu you could order from and pay more. Didn't use the restaurant for an evening meal so can't comment on them. Room was adequate size as you only sleep there but well stocked with items such as coffee (instant not machine), safe, good TV and plenty of clothes storage etc. Bathroom is fine but I don't like showers in a bath which are on the side wall rather than the end wall. It can be very claustrophobic and you are literally stuck to the shower curtain during your shower. Shower height was also too low and I'm not tall. Check in/out was pleasant and staff were very helpful throughout our stay.
The staff is bending over backwards to help the customers. The room was quiet, spacious, bright with a big bathroom and lots of storage. The design was lovely and all Covid measures were respected. The location and free public transport were very helpful.
I was in Lausanne for 5 nights for work and enjoyed my stay at the Mirabeau. Advantages: - Location - The facilities are classy and well maintained and about an 8-minute walk from the train station. - Friendly, professional service - I was offered a room with one large bed, and if I preferred a bathtub or shower. - Delicious breakfast - scrambled eggs, sausages, bacon, fresh eggs to boil to one's preference, smoked salmon, assortment of breads (loved the brioche), assortment of pastries, homemade jams, cereal, selection of yogurts and fruit. Coffee is served at the table in individual pitchers (not those horrible machines you have to stand in line for), and the tablecloths and cloth napkins make for an elegant touch. - Restaurant - serves lunch and dinner for some authentic Swiss cuisine and other options. - The room was comfortable, could regulate the radiator heating, minibar fridge, large flat-screen tv and a view of the lake and mountains. Things to consider: - There are a couple stairs to go in the main entrance. Those with mobility issues or large suitcases may need to look for an alternative entrance. - The bed is a bit low to the ground, and the mattress not as comfortable as other hotel chains (Marriott or Ibis). I stayed at the Elite Hotel last year, and liked the BW Plus Mirabeau more.
I traveled through Switzerland in mid-October and stayed in Lausanne for three nights. This hotel is wonderful. It is so comfortable and I loved the decor. Breakfast was included and was delicious. Dinner in their restaurant is excellent. It is close to transportation so you can see the city but we spent some time relaxing on the balcony and in the room. I highly recommend this hotel. This is not like an American hotel but high-end like a fine Swiss and/or French hotel.
This is a very nice hotel, with very warm and friendly staff, which is in a central location. It represents good value for money. The hotel is very clean, very quiet at night and has very good internet access.
We stayed here our on our last night on our Switzerland trip. The absolutely great breakfast was included in the price. The location really worked, being close to the train station. We really enjoyed our 4K TV in our room. Juliana at the front desk was excellent in assisting us with our journey.
We've stayed for one night in this charming hotel and no words to say, the room is super cozy and clean. It is so sweet to have some welcome message for us, and the staffs are really helpful and friendly. If I'd comeback again to Lausanne, I would definitely stay in this hotel.
Place needs some refurbishment as I had a big room with two separate beds, one of them having a broken leg Welcoming staff is doing a good job TV had some connections issues Breakfast was good and service staff also
We stayed here for one night en route to Munich, it's within walking distance of the main train station. The room was comfortable, clean and quiet. The view from our room looked out to the lake. They have a wonderful outdoor terrace where we had dinner that evening. Food was nothing spectacular, but the ambiance was nice.
The hotel is located a short (less than 10 minutes), relatively flat, walk just east of the train station. It is located between Old Town Lausanne (above) and Lac Léman below. So, this was a great location for us as we were staying for a week and using the train station to take day trips to other cities in the area. The hotel is very nicely updated with a welcoming lobby and restaurant on the main floor. They provided a high quality, free breakfast. Each floor of the hotel had a sitting area in the center near the elevator (if you like to use the stairs, they wrap around the elevator area and are very open). Our room was very large with ample closet space, a counter for one large suitcase on top and storage underneath, large work desk with chair, sitting area with bay windows and french doors. We had a lake view as well! The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was a good size and nicely updated. The air conditioner worked very well and was one of the reasons we chose this hotel. We had good (free) internet access and a nice selection of international TV stations. The hotel and room was kept very clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
We were in Lausanne for several days looking for a new home and we stayed at the Mirabeau. The hotel is charming - a little older - but the people are so kind. One of them, Peter, helped us on a crazy search to find the restaurant owners from a nearby restaurant. I had left my computer there and needed it to fly home - the restaurant was only open Monday-Friday....and I was trying to get it on a Saturday. Peter was so incredibly helpful - he even came back out once we'd almost given up, with a new idea. And when we were able to get in, he was almost as happy as we were. Really great experience.
We booked this hotel online after we researched the reviews. It is a very charming hotel. We had two rooms and they each had balconies which we used as we sat outside and drank coffee. The hotel is convenient to the train station however we did use an Uber due to having luggage. The rooms are smaller but very clean and cozy. The breakfast is amazing, eggs, meat, fruits, cheeses, and more. I will stay here again!
As you can imagine space is a premium so the hotel has tried to cram in as much as possible and it also seems like certain areas around the hotel have not been updated since then too! Check in process was efficient but it felt a bit robotic regarding the staff around the hotel. Staff weren't really expressing any emotions and it felt like it was more of a chore for them. There is a lift but again felt small. Room is on the small side but having a lake view room with a balcony did make up for it slightly. Again decor is dated and feels a bit worn down. The carpet leaves a lot to be desired. There are the usual amenities including a minibar / fridge in the room. Aircon was also available and working which was a bonus as the room gets stuffy quickly! The bed is big with no divider and a good selection of pillows. Ended up having a decent night's sleep for a change. Sockets were near the bed too, which was handy. They will also provide an iron if you request it. Bathroom is small! It ends up being a bit like a wet room as the shower is in a corner with a curtain going round it. Not much space to move in there! Small shower head so not the most enjoyable experience but it was hit water and worked. The towels were lovely and big and soft but the toiletries are basic and the toilet roll was like sandpaper. The restaurant is small I feel for the size of the hotel. They have put things like a piano in there to give it some character but it isn't working. Still felt a bit soulless. It got busy during breakfast and there were only a handful of people in there. The selection for breakfast was your typical continental style and it was fine but nothing to shout about. I noticed there was a bar area near the reception but I didn't venture inside. I didn't have dinner there as went out with a client but think I would've gone out anyway. For the price you pay I don't believe you're getting value for money, but you are in Switzerland and therefore everything is expensive so it is probably value for money compared to other hotels! plus small things would improve the experience (and rating) greatly.
Hotel is located very close to the train station and other facilities, very nice and clean and great customer service. would highly recommend, very close to walking distance to most attractions of the city and the lake, within 15minutes
With many day trips planned around Lake Geneva, this was a central hotel within 4 blocks of the train station. I would describe it as a nice, clean, well-maintained boutique hotel within the urban part of Lausanne. It lacked scenic views of Lake Geneva, and was away from many restaurants and shops found in either the Old Town (north and up) or the Lake Area (south and down). We were adjacent to two office buildings so the atmosphere was less French-resort and more business. However, it was exceptionally convenient to the train station. We had two rooms. Each was modest sized, with a comfortable bed, clean and nicely tiled bathroom, good temperature control, and good quietness (from internal and exterior noises). The tube/shower design is typical for Europe and makes for some tight maneuvering - and water control to keep from splashing the outside. The hotel staff was friendly and spoke fluent English. Our room also came with free breakfast, which was a very good buffet style meal with many options. For our purpose, this was a great hotel. We were able to get up, have breakfast and catch an early train for regional destinations.
The room is of good size for 5 of us. Bed was comfy and serve good breakfast. Location is within walking distance. Luckily there was a lift to link up train station level to hotel , which located at 50 steps down.
Since it my first trip to Lausanne I feel it pretty good. The hotel is nice and catches the eye with a classical look in the lobby. The receptionist was every polite and kind. I am amazed that I get a free public transportation card for my whole stay - it's a nice gesture. Room and bathroom are neat and clean. You get a little classical and old style feeling in a good way, tough. Worth visiting!
Hotel Mirabeau from lausanne is not a classical Best Western Plus hotel but is a really top class, excellent hotel offering its guests, even to most demanding ones, highest satisfaction for having taken the decision to stay there .
It is not a great sign when the best thing you have to say is “Well, at least it was clean”. This is a period hotel that could do with some renovations to modernize (and soundproof) its facilities without losing its vintage charm. This hotel is very reasonably priced and close to our offices in Switzerland so I suspect I will be staying there again, but not because I want to. Too bad because it could be such a lovely “bijou” in the heart of Lausanne instead of a reminder of a happier time long past.
A really beautiful hotel, perfect design, perfect service... I hope that in the future they can improve the comfort of the rooms, updating the furniture with the bathrooms with the shower box and not with the curtain
We stayed here for 4 nights for the Lausanne running festival. Arrival 4/5. It's a short walk from Lausanne Central Station, which was why we chose it. It also has some rooms with a Lake view. Check in was swift and friendly. You get a free public transport pass on arrival - we used it a lot. We were in our room within minutes of arriving. A fast lift to all floors. Room 4/5. We had booked a Superior Lake view room. A good size room with a large comfy bed. Plenty of storage. Digital safe. Fridge/minbar. Robes & slippers. Iron & board on request. Good size tv with numerous channels including quite a lot from uk. You can see the lake and across to France from the room. The balcony was tiny, and too small to sit out. Some rooms do have balconies with chairs. Bathroom 3/5. Small with shower over the bath. No bidet. Good hairdryer and nice towels. Breakfast 3/5. Plenty of choice. Nice breads and cheeses. We found the hot choices quite poor quality. Location 5/5. Perfect to discover Lausanne. Close to the central station, the Metro and mid way between the Old Town and the Lake. Plenty of shops and restaurants within an easy walk. It is a hilly city though. Overall 4/5. It's a classic French style hotel with Brasserie. A fine location near to the central station etc. the service everywhere was excellent.
The hotel is a couple of easy blocks to the train and is also walking distance to many other areas. The showers are quite small, but doable. The hotel staff are well trained, professional, and very helpful.
We were pleasantly surprised with the hotel. Definitely felt like a five star hotel. Staff was excellent - answers to questions and requests. Location was excellent as well. Would definitely recommend as well as stay again.
I stayed here with my son for 5 days this summer. The front desk staff was very helpful. I had brought the wrong adapter, and they had a drawer of all kinds of adapters, which they were very kind to lend to me. They were helpful with reading the map and finding destinations, helping us with the bus. Greeting us when we arrived and departed. Their garden restaurant, in back of the hotel, is quite lovely with a fabulous menu and friendly and helpful staff. Our room was very comfortable and spacious, with a view of the town. We were only a couple blocks from the train station, so it was very easy to come and go. The perfect place to stay when visiting Lausanne!
The only complaint I have is that we couldn't stay longer!! It was really hard to leave Hotel Mirabeau. We stayed four nights in a family suite and enjoyed every day of our stay. Perfect room! Clean, enormous bathroom. Separate kids room. We have three children, 13, 10 and 4 and they LOVED it. Two twin beds in a separate room and one twin bed next to our bed in the spacious main room. Comfortable beds with a variety of pillows. Air condition worked perfectly, and my husband likes it cold! (We just had to make sure we had the right setting. We figured that out the second day!) Very quiet even though we were on the main road on the third floor. We parked in the garage which was perfectly located right across the street. Just make sure to reserve your space when booking your stay. Peter, hotel manager, was exceptional!!! I wish every hotel had someone like Peter to genuinely greet you. Wonderful person. The staff was very pleasant, especially at breakfast. Thank you Peter and Hotel Mirabeau for making our stay a memorable one!
Rooms are really good and clean. Staff is very helpful and nice. Excellent location and a wide range of options for breakfast! I came here twice and will definitely return if I come back to Lausanne, thank you!
Good location between the old town and lake - near the train station and metro stops (metro free to visitors). Breakfast included was not cooked to order but buffet was good, included salmon and cheese, etc. We had a family room and the room was all set up for a family with towels, etc. Front staff very helpful in suggesting excursions and timing.
This is a beautiful, cozy hotel. Short bus ride or easy walk to/from train station. Their family room has second separate bedroom with 2 single beds, perfect for our teen daughter. We had plenty of room and didn't feel like we were tripping over each other. There was a nice balcony overlooking the city but you wouldn't know that being inside. It was quiet and we barely heard any noise at all. Breakfast was pretty good. Varied and delicious options for vegetarians. Staff at front desk and breakfast area were friendly and helpful. Lausanne is a charming city. Its an easy 45 min train to Geneva airport.
Polite welcoming and attendants. That's the best thing we experienced in the hotel. the structure itself looks good, but (and that'd my personal taste) feels like it needs to be refitted. I like the old-fashioned interiors, but all those velvets and carpets, and moquettes really felt like taking the air away. Bathroom was extremely small, the shower had a tent ! Shower tents felt not so clean (easy to spot a clean glass door, less easy on a shower tent) , also i found some pubic hair on the bottom of the shower. Gross. We had rooms on the street side, extremely noisy. Also breakfast wasn't really anything to talk about. Really nothing any special. Price, given the city, is good, though.
Recently our family of 4 (parents and 2 children, 10/13 yr olds) traveled to Lausanne for a few days and stayed at the Best Western Mirabeau. I could not say enough nice things about it—- the hotel is in some ways reminiscent of elegant bygone days, showcasing a cuasi art nouveau style. Our room and bathroom were very large and beautiful— they even gave us a “room within the room” for our girls. Room had large windows and bright natural light. Slippers and robes provided, adding to feeling of elegance and relaxation. Hotel restaurant has delicious food and is simply stunning—-under trees behind hotel (though a little pricey, as is everything in Switzerland). The staff was always exceedingly kind , helpful and professional. We thought that the price was more than fair. Don't let the somewhat blah street turn you away! A great deal — for Swiss prices!
My husband and I and our two kids enjoyed a wonderful stay in the family room at the Best Western Mirabeau! The room itself was spacious and comfortable. Once inside our hotel suite, the kids had their own separate room with two twin beds. We were able to close the door to the kids' room which allowed us all some privacy. The bathroom was huge and we also enjoyed a small balcony. The only downside was the noise from the busy street, but it's to be expected for a stay in the city. The hotel is conveniently located to the train station and metro...just a short walk that even my kids could manage while pulling their suitcases. The breakfast was very good. The selection was impressive and the food was delicious. I'd highly recommend this location location for families.
I stay at this hotel at least 3 times a year and I am always happy with everything. Beds are super comfy. The breakfast is super and the service is top notch. It's very close to the train station which is also great. And if you ask for and get a room at the back of the hotel you can end up with a great view from your room
Nice and very friendly and helpful front desk staff. Nice older building thoroughly updated inside with great room. Breakfast bar area full of hot and cold foods, wonderful selection, as wonderful a breakfast as possible. White table-cloth settings, great service from waiters who bring coffee or tea. Quiet room and luxurious booths and tables.
Spent a week during busy period. Having a pretty high rate I would have expected a bigger room, with breakfast included. I found Air Conditioning noisy and not extremely efficient. On the plus side the position is very good, with lots of restaurants at walking distance
The hotel is near the train station, but be aware that it is uphill from the station. It's nice heading back to the station with luggage but a bit difficult pushing bags uphill on arrival. The hotel must have tripple glazed windows because it was very quiet even though located on a fairly busy street. The air-conditioning worked well and was particularly welcome aver staying in two other Swiss hotels that did not have it. The wi-fi was good and the hotel provided me with a card allowing use of public transport during my stay-a nice benefit. Breakfast is as expected and the staff were friendly and helpful. If I were to stay again in Lausanne, this would be my choice.
great services, great rooms, everything very clean, reception desk friendly, experience people, best breakfast, best people working in the hotel, from the servers in the restaurant to the reception during the day and night, great management. June 2018, it is exactly 12 years travelling to Lausanne for Business and for vacation, and always I stay at Hotel Mirabeau, it is like my home, I love the people that I know since 12 years and always is pleasure to stay there, and obviously the Hotel is super class and luxury with great competitive price, best In town, to stay for short or long period, rooms are beautiful, new and with great balcony where to sit specially in spring summer time. I suggest this hotel to everyone Francesco
Our stay got off to a good start, finding that the location was well clear of the congested area immediately around the station, and within walking distance of the old town. The uphill walk back from the lake can be eased by taking the trolleybus, which has a stop adjacent to the hotel. The building retains Art Deco features, but has been comprehensively renovated in all parts. We had a " Lake view superior" room on the third floor, correctly described. The nearby buildings are low and do not obsruct the distant view. All expected room fittings were present, including proper bedside tables with drawers, and showed good taste and fine workmanship. The. bathroom was especially neat, with perfect tiles and grouting.Despite its modernity, there was a large ,usable ,basin and a full length bath, the proper function of which was not obstructed by the folding shower screen. There was no heated mirror to cause morning hot flushes! A comfortable temperature and quiet were possible, with a combination of modern perforated roller sunblind (on all three sides of the bay window) and aircon ,free from central interference- just a simple control box. We had an excellent dinner,at reasonable prices by Lausanne standards,on the large terrace, entirely shaded by trees.Service was attentive without being fussy, and the waiters were all properly dressed. The breakfast buffet ,included in the room price, was of the expected type.I felt it was a little let down by the hot items ,which had bizarre white sausages made from chicken, and sad scraps of bacon, below even American standards. This is absolutely my only criticism of the hotel. It is a great pity that bad weather caused me to arrive a day late, and to shorten my stay.
Stayed in a twin room on the 3rd floor whilst away on a business trip. Excellent hotel, great location and close to the train station and metro. The rooms are very clean, quiet and welcoming. The staff are wonderful, and breakfast was good with a variety of choice.
Arrived late, but was welcomed with warm politeness. Real politeness, not the modern superficial pseudo-smile. Clean room , GREAT bed, superb breakfast with a huge choice. The hotel offered parking space in the garage, quite pricey for ca. 20 GBP, but as everything is expensive there... All in all a hotel that I really recommend. The only not-so-good is the location. Rather loud and not a very pretty corner of Lausanne.
Wonderful! From the moment we checked in, to the time we departed, our stay at the Hotel Mirabeau in Lausanne was wonderful! My wife and I were met at check-in by Peter Jansenberger, the Mirabeau's Reception Manager. Peter was friendly, professional and courteous and he made our check-in a quick and enjoyable procedure. My wife and I were to encounter Peter several times during the four days we stayed at the Mirabeau, and each time he responded immediately to our requests, whether it was for information, a bucket of ice, or a plate with knives and forks for cutting cheese for our evening snacks on our balcony. And when Peter was not available, we could always count on Juliana to step up and provide us the help we needed. Speaking of our balcony, we stayed in Room 414. Our balcony was on the top floor with a great view of Lake Leman and the neighborhood surrounding the hotel. It was the perfect place to end a day of sight-seeing with a bottle of wine, cheese and crackers, and a special dessert from a nearby bakery. Our room was spotless and spacious enough, with a king-sized bed, plenty of closet space, a good-sized desk and an adequate-sized bathroom with shower. My wife and I began each day with the breakfast buffet offered by the Mirabeau. There were plenty of hot and cold choices with eggs, bacon, sausage, croissants, breads, fruit, cheeses, cold meats, hot cereal, juices and just about everything a person would want for breakfast. The location of the Mirabeau is also excellent, being located just a few blocks from the Lausanne train station. While we were there, we made side-trips to the Castle at Chillon (we took a ferry there and returned by train – recommended) and Bern. Being so close to the hotel made it easy to come and go. Lausanne is a beautiful city in which to spend a few days. If you are considering going to Lausanne, go! And when you go to Lausanne, stay at the Mirabeau; you will be glad you did. And when you check-in at the Mirabeau in Lausanne, please give our best regards to Peter and Juliana.
very clean hotel. Staff is very friendly and well educated. The location is great too, because it takes you abou 5min walk from main station Lausanne. I recommend to choose breakfast because it really is delicious. Best croissants I had in a hotel.
Hotel staff are very nice and helpful. you get a public transport ticket to look into the city. Breakfast is very nice and diversified. Food is good in general. Rooms are good size, but some have a super small shower space.
I will be back at this hotel. The location to the train station was great and it was in the central part of the city, where you could walk to shops. Food at the hotel was great, but the pearl was the front desk person who checked us in. She was so helpful.
The Hotel Mirabeau is very charming. The staff is welcoming and, even though it was our first stay, they made us feel like we were regular guests. The location is great...close to the train station and bus route. The bed was super comfortable. Our thanks to Juliana, Maddie and Peter for their warm hospitality.
The room had a nice view, of part of the city and Lake. Room settings were good, clean, not unnecessarily overset, and right in target for business travel. Excellent room service for when you get back tired to the hotel, quick and nice. (Recomend the cheeseburger). The only change I would make is the shower to be a box and not only with a curtain. Bit of a mess if you like to shower for more than 3 minutes..., but location and kindness offset this point if you are not extremely demanding in bath set. Rest near to perfect.
good and centrally located hotel ,convenient to catch bus, train and all ..staff and reception people were so friendly and helpful ,especially Mr Joseph, the sales head..room was descent but its not sound proof..i could hear noises from other rooms..small balcony is there at the hotel ..breakfast doesn't look impressive as well ...overall hotel is recommended in terms of location as its easy to connect to lausanne city bus, train station etc etc ....
Hotel was well located near the train station and Hotel was really nice for food room cleanness. Staffs were very professional and very kind. They give all information whatever I needed. Room was so nice and luxury and comfortable. I love this hotel and I would recommend to stay at this hotel.
We chose this hotel because it was a short 10 min walk from the train station and what we thought was a good central location for visiting this city. We also loved the option of a “lakeview” room for an additional charge. We got checked in and given the keys to our room on the second floor. It was a large comfortable room with a large bathroom and two sinks. The shower was like a lot of European hotels with a step in tub and half door. Our room was a corner room so the street noise was rather loud with the windows open (to cool the always warm room). The “lake view” was practically non-existent with just a small portion of water showing between buildings. It is located a good mile from Lake Geneva. Although it is a “non-smoking hotel” they allow guests to smoke on their patios or balconies. Not good if you are a non-smoker as our neighbors smoke wafted into our room several times during our stay. We found the staff to be friendly when we interacted with them first but other than housekeeping, no greeting was shared. The front desk staff was usually busy working behind the desk and some seemed a bit put out to have to answer our simple questions for directions or hotel services. There was not a warmth to our stay; it was business as usual. We had breakfast both mornings and would recommend getting there earlier rather than later. Our first morning, there were a number of open tables to choose from, coffee service was quick and dishes were cleared quickly. The second morning, arriving just 30 minutes later, there were uncleared tables, those that were cleared had no place settings and the small buffet area was jammed with people, standing in the way of others while their bread toasted. There are no glasses near the juices or water so you just return to your table to get your glass, if there is one there! The self-serve buffet of cereals, breads, yogurts, eggs and meats with cheese was really lacking in the ability to self serve as several items were empty and infrequently refilled. It seemed to be an issue that could be easily resolved with more staffing. Our check out took much too long. We were trying to catch a train and when we presented a Marriott Rewards certificate (that we had asked the reservation agent to note when we booked the room) the staff did not know how to handle this, even though it was valid internationally. They were concerned about the $30 US dollars being converted to francs. I was also told I should have shown them at check in to avoid waiting! I'm surprised they made us wait so they could figure it out. We even offered to settle our bill in USD if it would help. All things considered, it's probably an okay hotel for a couple of nights but I think our expectations were high due to the many other European Great Western hotels we have stayed at on our vacations.
Upscale hotel with impressive lobby and restaurant with a convenient location close to local transit halfway between Ouchy and Old town Lausanne. Many rooms have nice view of Lake Geneva (worth an upgrade). Very helpful staff.
Was on a two days business trip. Hotel is very conveniently located in 5 min walking distance to the train station. The staff is very helpful and friendly. My room was very comfortable, the bathroom a bit too small, but tolerable. The room was clean and the staff noticed my preferences in cushions after the first night and prepared the bed accordingly. Breakfast had great variety with warm sausages, bacon and scrambled egg, as well as a selection of ham and cheese. Vegetables and cereals complete the buffet. Recommended for business trips, but also as a nice weekend couple hideout.
Great location, just up street from train station and around the corner to the bus stop. Very lovely old style hotel and the staff was wonderful and helpful. Ask for a room that is on the side street as it is much more quiet than the main avenue de Gare. Nice breakfast buffet.
Used this hotel as a base for a week long training course. It was very convenient to the train station, approximately a 5-7 minute walk. Had a 4th floor room, neither facing the street nor the lake, but could see both from the room. Room was quiet and lighting was adequate. Breakfast was included, a buffet with numerous breads, danishes, eggs, bacon, fruit, cereal, yoghurt etc. It was very good. Check in / check out procedure was fine. Friendly staff. The only drawback was that the shower stall had a curtain only that did not want to stay in place. Would stay here again.
The hotel is a very distinguished-looking turn of the (20th) century building with sober, elegant interior design. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The room and the bed were comfortable, albeit tight for a couple with two suitcases and two carry-ons. The bathroom was small, but well-equipped. The shower could not have been smaller and still usable, and the way the flooring is designed, water leakage onto the surrounding floor is guaranteed. Breakfast is quite well-stocked, but no low-fat options for cheeses and yogurt. Coffee is not self serve - staff needs to bring it, and it was only lukewarm the first day. They gladly replaced it. A good coffee machine with the buffet would have been a better idea. Two dinners in the hotel restaurant were nothing special. The steak the first night was sinewy and chewy. The penne the second night was under-cooked and lukewarm. That was sent back and they gladly fixed it. On the whole, a decent hotel with some issues.
It would be difficult to fault this hotel. Very nicely appointed rooms and public spaces, and perfectly located mid way between the historic city and the quayside. Both are within easy walking distance. Train station even closer, but not so close you could hear it. The staff were the friendliest of any hotel I have stayed at, and were so helpful with advice and guidance on things to see. Breakfasts were continental but very good, and fresh. Do visit Mirabeau, you will not be disappointed.
I had a reservation at the Carlton Boutique Hotel in Lausanne, made months before my trip. I was surprised to get an email while abroad telling me that they were not going to honor the reservation but had booked me at the Hotel Mirabeau instead. I learned through emails with the Mirabeau that the rate would be the same as I had reserved and a check of reviews made me feel okay about the change. At the Mirabeau I found an outstanding place to stay when in Lausanne! The staff, especially Peter Jansenberger, Chef de reception, welcomed us and were quite helpful the entire four night stay. The hotel is located about a five minute walk from the train station and provided free transportation for the Metro in Lausanne (we had purchased Swiss Travel Passes so did not need the Metro cards, but it is a nice touch). Our room was spacious and comfortable, with excellent storage and closet space, a convenient safe, and comfortable seating. I will stay at the Mirabeau abain when in Lausanne. The location makes trips on Metro and to other parts of Switzerland quite convenient. The area is clean, safe, and well lighted, which made our 3:30 a.m. walk to the train station easy.
Very happy with the attention I get as a returning guest. They always find me a nice room. This time I had a beautiful view over the lake, with a nice terrace. The location is perfect, 3-4 minutes from the train station.
Great hotel really impressed on arrival. Great friendly staff. Very proffessional. Breakfast is basic and could be more choice for the price of the room. Family room spacious and lovely smaller separate room for children to sleep within same bedroom.
The hotel Mirabeau is perfectly situated to easily access anywhere in Lausanne. Walk to shopping and restaurants, as well as train and bus access. It's a charming hotel, a little bit worn feeling but I prefer it to those new totally modern boxes. One of the "charming" features, however, was a very strangely angled shower which was challenging and required some contortions to use. Breakfast was very good and the staff helpful whenever needed.
Only a 10-minute walk from the main Lausanne train station, we found the location of the Hotel Mirabeau very convenient for visiting & exploring the city. Check-in with friendly, efficient staff was very speedy, and we were able to get our room before noon. Our large, air-conditioned room, on the hotel's top floor, had a separate sitiing room, with its own lavatory for visitors. The comfortable sleeping area had a king-sized bed with a full adjoining bathroom. We also had small sundeck balcony from which we had a lovely view of Lac Leman. The included buffet breakfast in the hotel's dining room was very good with a big selection of choices. Service was very friendly and efficient...my much-needed morning coffee came almost as soon as I was seated. My wife, not a breakkie-eater, was happy enough to have the Nespresso coffeemaker with lots of espresso coffee pods in our room. The Hotel Mirabeau the first Best Western Plus property we had ever stayed at, and my wife & I were very impressed.
Lausanne is the beautiful town but this hotel has simply add more value in my visit. Excellent service and hospitality by hotel staff including reception, restaurant and room service. Special thanks to Mr. Peter for his great cooperation through out. Room with balcony is highly recommended and should enjoy the breakfast in room balcony. Super choice !
The location is awesome: 5 minutes walking to the train station, same distance from downtown. There are many restaurants, bars, shops and a bus station nearby. The staff are very professional, the breakfast is good but overpriced (25 chf), and the rooms are small but comfortable. The AC was one of the best features of this hotel, especially during the hot months. The hotel provides you with a transit pass for both the bus and the metro, which is very helpful. I would definitely go back if I have the opportunity to visit Lausanne again.
Its a stiff 5 minute walk up the hill from the station but we really liked this hotel and its very good restaurant. The room was comfortable and clean and the bed provided a good nights sleep. I would certainly use it again if visiting Lausanne.
Other than a good central location close to the train station, there isn't a lot to get excited about in this hotel. It's extremely basic. I had a dreadful nights sleep when the assigned me two small uncomfortable twin beds, badly joined together. As an individual business traveler, I wanted and booked for a King Room and would have expected a King bed - even a Queen would have been fine - just not twins!! The breakfast the next morning was poor, I also had lunch in the little bar beside reception which was also poor. The hotel was dated and over priced, though arguably that's the same with a lot of places in Switzerland. Front Office staff were pleasant and helpful.
This is a great, comfortable place to stay when you are in Lausanne for business. I frequently travel and stay at the Mirabeau, and highly recommend it as a good value. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and relatively new. The beds are comfortable, and the bathrooms are always clean. You can certainly always spend more money, but the Mirabeau is a great value. The bar has a nice selection, and more importantly, the breakfast in the restaurant is an excellent selection and value. All together, highly recommended!
I stayed for 2 weeks in this hotel for the month of March 2017 . This hotel is very close to Lausanne railway station (walking distance) . You can go to city center even by walk though you need to take a road which is going up , so if you are not habituated then avail bus . Bus stop is just 30 sec walk from Hotel . Hotel provide free bus pass and you can travel almost in all location of the city using the same . Hotel stuffs are really helpful and 24/7 available . Its a 4 star standard hotel . Rooms are pretty clean and having standard size. Room service is pretty quick and available until 10 PM . Its a overall small and nice hotel . Hotel breakfast also good and also having many varieties.
Had a wonderful stay for business last week at the Best Western Mirabeau. The front desk staff were excellent, friendly, and very helpful with storing my baggage on the first/last days of my trip. The breakfast in the mornings was delicious - I just wish I had more time! The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is the showers are a bit difficult to maneuver - but that's more a European thing and less a "this hotel" thing - and there's no gym or exercise facilities. But that's also not their fault :) Overall, excellent hotel with old-school charm. Loved the upgrade upon arrival and had a charming room with a glimpse of the lake. Will book again if back in Lausanne!
The Best Western Plus Hotel Mirabeau may not be the cheapest hotel/redtaurant in Lausanne but in my opinion you receive a lot for your money. I stayed in a room with lake view with a big bathroom with tub and a very comfortable bed - even the pillows were very good to sleep on. Everything was very clean and I had the impression that the whole room was renovated not too long ago. Because of the style of the hotel there was fitted carpet in the room which can be a bit difficult if you are allergic. But as said before: the style of the hotel would be broken if there was laminate floor or sth like that in the rooms. The hotel lies on a street very close to the main station and also just a 5-10 minutes walk from the city center with all the sights. I would recommend to spend a little more money to have a room to the backside. The restaurant has a great service and for dinner the ambience is very calm and kind of elegant and charming with the big chimney which is fired during winter. You can easily see that all the ingredients are fresh and of high quality from the starter salad to the great mousse au chocolat as dessert. So if you want to have a special dinner the restaurant of the hotel is highly recommended. Last but not least the breakfast: as kind of standard for a 4 star hotel you will find nearly everything on the buffet what you are looking for. For hotel guests the breakfast is included in the room rate so enjoy it! You can have different müesli, fruit, joghurt, different bread and rolls, pain au chocolat, salmon, scrambled eggs and if you ask for also fresh made omelettes and so on. All in all the hotel is really great and I would love to stay there again.
The hotel is an easy walk from central Lausanne station but be prepared to walk uphill to get to the city center. It's about equal distance to the lake, too. We had a nice large room with a balcony that would be great for a summer stay. The bathroom was a bit disappointing with only a small shower. Breakfast was great with lots of choices hot and cold. The breakfast staff was extremely proficient and nice. There were several english television stations. I got the flu while we were at the hotel and I want to extend a sincere thank you for allowing us a very late check out on departure day. We will definitely stay again when we return to Lausanne.
The hotel is located between the lake and the city centre and both is therefore really easy to reach by feet as long you are able to walk steep stairs and streets because the city itself is completely hilly. The whole building is old and really impressive from the outside but from the inside as well. The interior is very tasteful and classic, the rooms are quite big and luxurious and the staff is helpful and professional! The garage costs around 25 € for a night and is to find on the opposite side of the street.
A very nice Hotel if you stay in Lausanne, it is very close to the train station (~400m) and within walking distance to the lake or the cathedral and the shopping streets. Service is very friendly and helpful, Reception is great and very helpful as well. Internet access is free and fast, I never had a problem with it. The facilities are clean and the Hotel is very charming. Rooms are clean, some are a little bit small, bathrooms are clean and newly renovated it seems. The only thing bothering me is always the curtain around the shower as you are flooding the bathroom. There is no real rim between floor and shower. Breakfast is very good, they offer a great variety, even salmon. You also get free public transport within the city during the lenght of your stay. Anyway I am there at least three times a year and it is the Hotel of my choice, and I've seen a few there..
Best Western Mierebau is only 400 m away from Main train station, and 900 m away from the heart of Lausanne. Hotel's building is old, well-kept, however not very distinctive. Interior of the lobby, corridors and rooms (seem to me) a bit cheap and dated. Entire hotel very clean. Staff is very attentive and polite. The decor of my room (#212) was not appealing to me at all. I expected something more exquisite and stylish. Bed was large and very comfortable. Even though rooms have no kettle as a standard equipment (what a pity) you may ask at the reception, tea-set will be promptly delivered to your room. Internet access for 2 devices was included in the room rate. Connection was quite fast and uninterruptible. Upon check in I received a ticket for public transportation (valid for entire my stay) which was a nice surprise. Selection at buffet breakfast was not too opulent; however quality of the food was very good and the meal tasted good. Price/Value: in my humble opinion 235EUR for a night, was not a bargain even though I was in Lausanne. I'd more eagerly swallow the price for the night, only if I were given a room with the lake view.
When I go to Lausanne on business, I like to stay at the Mirabeau. The logistics are you arrive by airplane in Geneva, you take the train to Lausanne, and then you have a 5 mins walk from the train station to the hotel. The service at reception is very good. The hotel is clean, ample rooms, comfortable king size bed, modern bathrooms. The restaurant on the ground floor is excellent for breakfast and for dinner, with excellent food and service. The negatives were the WiFi does not work well, and the shower is in the bathtub which I dislike.
Nice hotel for short business trips. There were renovation works on the street of the hotel and no warnings at the hotel website. I would expect better offers for rooms due to the loud mornings. It will continue till the end of 2017.
The original art deco style has been lovingly recreated with all modern conveniences. We had a glimpse of the lake from the balcony. Breakfast was lovely, great coffee, good selection of hot and cold. Room was spacious and very clean and bathroom very nicely done. Staff very helpful. Near station/metro/buses. Free bus/metro pass. Pillows were a little too hard and the yoghurts could have been cooler but I am being picky. Cathedral is lovely.
This BW Plus hotel really lives up to the PLUS in it's name. Compared to another 4 star BW hotel in Switzerland this is really on a different level. Had a wonderful 1 night stay at this hotel and I will certainly book this again for any future visit to Lausanne. My room was towards the street and on the second floor so there were some street noises in the night. So if you have trouble sleeping then I would suggest to ask for a room higher up or faced towards the lake. Splendid breakfast and top service all around.
My wife and I stayed here with my 2 boys this past summer. It created a lasting memory in us. Very friendly staff and clean hotel. Train station and local attractions were near by. Hotel also gave us complimentary local transit pass, which was awesome and came in very handy. Hotel staff also helped us plan some parts of our daily trip. Our stay also included Breakfast buffet and was very satisfactory. Ans almost forgot to mention that the room we stayed in was huge and that too compared to typical European hotel rooms.
Great location to downtown and train station. Stayed 4 nights for a family event. The triple room #209 had great beds and was very clean. Great breakfast buffet a plus. Very quiet. Staff professional and friendly. Would certainly return. And will.
Our family of 4 had a nice "Family Room" with two separate bedrooms. The master was huge, had a fridge, small balcony but looked out onto the busy street. Not too much street noise though. Kid's room was smaller but fine, two singles. Bathroom was large and nice. Parking was pricey and on the street, you can pay at the front desk and they will give you the appropriate tag. Pretty close to the train station and uphill a bit to the old town, cathedral etc. They give you a public transport pass which we did use. Breakfast was typical Swiss fare but very well done, with meats, cheeses, pastry, fruit, etc. All in all it was a good place to stay and reasonable value for Switzerland, though the room had minimal lake views. The service was excellent and the staff were very kind and helpful.
I stayed in this hotel during my visit to Lausanne. The hotel is clean, classic, well organized and comfortable. The staff is very friendly and welling to help. The location of the hotel a bit far from the the lake, down town and the services ( restaurants, bars, shops, markets, laundry, cafes,...) but it close to the train station. The breakfast is very poor and the choices are limited.
Very nice Hotel, all Hotel staff are exceptionaly very welcoming and helpful, specially the reception. We are here with the family and took 3 rooms, all 3 rooms are classic and chic. Breakfast is great and has a wide variety of different choices. Definitely will be returning again.
This hotel is a 5 minute walk from the train station! Big, spacious rooms, excellent WIFI! The continental breakfast is outstanding and the servers are warm and friendly. Located in the Center of Lausanne, it's easy to walk to shopping, restaurants or to Ouchy. Very helpful front desk staff too. We would stay here again!
Just returned from a 2 night stay at the Hotel Mirabeau. Hotel was a quick walk from the train station and located half way between the port and the old city. There is a bus stop directly in front of the hotel if you don't want to walk the hills (and the hotel provided a card that gave free access to the public transportation which is clean and efficient). The staff was extremely warm and helpful. They upgraded us to a room with a balcony and view of the Lake when we checked in. Hotel was very clean and had a lot of charm. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!
We already stayed twice in the hotel "Le Maribeau " in Lausanne. It is a beautiful and stylish decorated hotel, the service is very friendly and attentive. Our room had a view of beautiful Lake Geneva, the room was immaculately clean, with a wide range in the mini-bar, shower and bath (there was no noise from traffic or other guests). The hotel is centrally located and within walking distance of the lake and all other sights . There was a very rich breakfast and dinner was very refined. We would definitely recommend this hotel, you can clearly see that this hotel is well run!
I stayed here for one night and it was wonderful.Staff is very polite, good size of rooms, clean and comfortable. Although we had a room on the street side, there was absolutely no noise. Good choice for breakfast too.
Stayed here for three days while attending a conference at CHUV. All in all a great stay. Wonderfull beds. Exceptionally good food (incl breakfast) at the restaurant and conveniently located very near the main train station.
Stayed at Mirabeau Hotel for 4 nights! Its location is precisely what we wanted! Almost near everything! The staff were very kind and helpful! It's cleanliness is 10 out of 10! Breakfast was good and the restaurant had delicious plates! I enjoyed the chicken curry dish and the profiteroles!I loved the Swiss fruity white wine the serve there! Our stay was a must to remember !
Stayed at the Hotel Mirabeau for a few days as an alternative to paying the hugely inflated Geneva prices during UN meetings. I am very glad I did! The hotel is in an excellent location, a short walk from the train station, lake at city centre with, if you happen to get a lake facing room, stunning views across the lake. The rooms are tidy and clean with everything you need, right where you need it. A very wide selection of television channels are also available in room. The breakfast spread was also very well done and offered good variety. As for the staff - they were fantastic throughout with special mention going to Bibi and Maddie on the reception desk; wonderfully attentive and happy to assist. My trip was for business, but I shall be back to Lausanne as a tourist in the very near future.
Very disappointing hotel room in relation to elevated room-rate charged 00 in terms of outlook (sold as mountain view, but in reality only just) and bathroom fittings (uncomfortable shower in high-sided bath) - I have had much better bathrooms in Holiday Inn Express !!
The location is good, near the train station and 10min walks from the center. Very helpfull staff a the reception the private garage is located in front of the hotel and very easy to use. Room was very nice and clean, spacious, great view from the balcony Beds are very comfy. Dinner at restaurant in the evening was just Perfect !!!! Great staff, great Food & cosy Atmosphere. Breakfast was excellent. All what you need to start your day. I would definitely go back to this hotel.
Very good service-with a smile.Rooms are very small,so are the bathrooms!Close to the train station.Lausanne is a uphill downhill city!I didn't know that. There are trips on the Lake Geneva by boat.Wonderful scenery.
All ok on the basics - fair price, cleanliness, TV, WLAN, decent breakfast, convenient location close to the train station but far enough to avoid the typical side effects. More importantly, a courteous and friendly staff. Elegant rooms and staircase which ensure a relaxing and classy atmosphere.
I'm a frequent traveler, and I found this hotel to be obscenely priced for a place that looked so tired. Adding a second person to the room, which had a large bed regardless of how many people were in the room, cost more than $50.
Just a five minute walk from the railway station, this art nouveau hotel is really nice, good rooms and nice breakfast, would recommend worth a try. Seems well placed in the town. Rooms were good size I had 411 which was quiet and on the corner of the hotel.
Very descent stay at a very convenient location, just 5 minutes walk from train station, metro. wide selection of restaurants at the nearby area at walking distance. Wifi has good reception and breakfast offered is a good buffet selection. Rooms are relatively spacious and very clean. Personnel is very helpful and polite and generally speaking service level is at high standards.
We were having a family dinner at the hotel for their "moules menu" last Saturday on our visit to Lausanne. The restaurant was fully booked, their curry mussel was delicious! It's definitely A MUST to taste! Having well and warm received by their staffs all along our time at the restaurant, could only make us want to come back, yet to stays at the hotel.
This hotel is conveniently located close to the Lausanne Train Station. The service is excellent at reception as well as the restaurant. The room was also clean but not very spacious. The internet connection is not the greatest as it kept dropping regularly. Overall, a decent, clean hotel but no great frills.
Of course, everything is relative and I do not know if the three stars is very representative, but it's rather in relation to the range "high end" which this hotel sits in. I was there on business trip in Lausanne (it's pretty rare that I sleep there) but was unfortunately not delighted pleased, service is good, of course, but I was "relegated" to chamber 506 which is rather small and there was no WiFi (or really bad signal, this may have been corrected by now). Breakfast was included, good but not great compared to other hotels in this range.
Great location , polite staff, spacious rooms , garage facility available , rich and top quality breakfast and an interesting restaurant, within the hotel , staying open till almost 22.00 , made our life , upon our arrival , much easier. Overall is a value for money hotel.
Warmly welcome, comfortable rooms but a little bit smal. Pleasant balkony .Cosy and swiss atmosphere .The restaurant is excellentwith a large choice of foods and wines . The breakfast is perfect choice, service and quality. Nice stage for holidays or for business.
Booked this hotel for the 2d time and satisfied again. The hotel is walking distance from the railway station, offers comfortable accommodation. Reception staff very friendly and helpful. Though located on a busy street, the rooms are quiet, thanks to modern windows. Rate 4 only for the size of the room, but this is very clearly noted in the booking information. The hotel provides a good breakfast, with swiss cheese, meat/sausage cuts salted salmon, fresh croissants, juices, omlette/eggs, cereals/yoghurts, which was included in the rate. As in many Swiss cities you pay some 2-3 CHF as a city tax, which is not just a tax - you get a transport card for free bus/metro rides within the city. WiFi is free throughout the hotel, but you will need to register entering the login/password combinations which you receive at the reception at check-in. Very, very good restaurant for dinner with helpful, knowledgeable staff and chef. All the food was not only prepared well, but also well served and decorated. Will stay in this hotel again.
We arrived at 7:30 on a cold Sunday night in January. No reservation? No problem! I think we received the best room in the hotel! We decided to eat in the hotel restaurant, and received a table in front of the wood burning fire! Too tired to think about what to order, so asked the sommelier for suggestion. Surprise - she suggested a modestly priced wine that worked perfectly with my dinner! On checkout the next morning, the hotel manager gently reminded us which mountain roads were closed, and recommended a detour to the town of Gruyere - magical! Thank you for a memorable stay.
Great location, very close to the station and everything else seemed to be a comfortable walk away. The staff was very friendly and approachable and the restaurant served very good food. The hotel is very charming as it has something very old world about it.
We stayed in this hotel as part of a group tour, so I cannot say if it was a good value, but it certainly was an excellent place to stay. Cleanliness is our first requirement as well as being quiet and this hotel met that criteria. The breakfast was excellent and the general appearance and decor were very, very nice. All of the staff were friendly and helpful.
We have visited this hotel twice before and we return here because of the good location and excellent service we are provided. Yet again the staff were helpful, courteous and kind. The breakfast was scrumptious. Best value for money. We always look forward to our stay at the your hotel and wish the General Manager and his team every success.
We arrived after a 8 hour drive, parking was right opposite the hotel and very secure which was helpful for us as we were leaving things in the car as we were driving around Europe. Nice spacious room, comfortable bed and excellent bathroom. The lady on reception was very helpful too. Good location with bus stops close by. Only negative was food choice for breakfast.
The hotel and rooms are comfortable, though details are somewhat old and would need upgrade, like the bathroom equipment. They serve a very good and complete breakfast. At walking distance from the train station and the old town.
We had a junior suite and the room was superb. Very large with separate room for the kids and a massive bathroom, and spotlessly clean. The staff were very helpful and the location, whilst perhaps not in the best area, is very handy for the main attractions. Bus passes are included and the service is very good, with buses to the harbour or centre every couple of minutes. Breakfast was great and pretty much covered everything you could want. The only issue with the hotel is that the parking is limited. We ended up having to park on the street but it was fine in the end. Certainly a hotel I would recommend if you were visiting Lausanne.
This is a great location, not far from the train station, just a bit of a walk up the hill. Close to buses. Big spacious rooms. Nice and quiet, well appointed. Great friendly staff who are helpful and accommodation. Breakfasts - good selection.
I wish I could only stay there longer! From the breakfast throughout the day until the night this is just lovely place: lovely choice in the morning (best scrambled eggs ever!), lovely view out of the window during the day (over Lake Geneva to France) and great sleep at night (perfect bed in a silent house). Te only little and a bit weird disadvantage is their locked computer room on the 3rd floor - every time you go for the public computer you have to ask for a key at the reception. But its just a detail:-)
