lots of parking ..clean inviting lobby, friendly staff, good breakfast, clean comfortable room, was able to get upgraded room that included kitchenet with large fridge and hot plate...also small bistro table with 2 chairs....close to amenities and town
Motel needs updates. It was dated. Hot water was not working in shower. Staff were not friendly and did not engage in a welcoming manor. When we checked out again no have a great day, or thank for staying with best western. I would t spend the money to go back. From date I booked to when my visa was billed the price was $10 plus tax more. It's a pass for me.
We stayed for one night during our road trip. The king bed was very comfortable and the room was very clean. The bathroom sink did not drain quickly, we had to keep the tap to a trickle. The HVAC unit worked fine except that it was noisy, it woke us up when turned on during the night. There is limited selection for TV channels. The breakfast is well stocked with a variety of foods. The coffee was dispensed from a machine, would have preferred a percolated coffee
No flexibility on check in time. Not even a half hour, just "NO" Walmart quality furnishing, the worst in room coffee. For breakfast: rubbery, tasteless eggs, under cooked, tasteless home fries, and more terrible coffee. I expected much better from Best Western. Will not stay at Best Western again
Not a good experience, not sure if they changed ownership, but toilets don't flush, even being switched to another room, tv was messed up in ever room for 2 days, my family couldnt watch TV, they said it was the provider so they should of got a discount as we all know it always is given, but they said they never did, ya right! A way for them to make more money. The breakfast for 3 days is less than sub par, always and always the same food. So called manager not at all respectfull maybe because she is not a mother and doesn't have a family, but still not the way to act. I never write reviews as I am a busy person, but this is needed. Your better off going 3 kms away for way better service, thanks for reading.
The smell in this hotel is stale and... dirty? There is no place to put the coffee table if you want to use the pull-out couch (which has a 5 inch mattress), horrible!! A dingy lightweight blanket is supplied, not sufficient!! No glassware for a proper drink.
Although the staff friendly I would not stay again. The breakfast experience was brutal. I saw a fruit bowl with fruit that was almost rotten - definitely inedible. This lack of attention to detail made me question the quality control of what little other food was being served. I decided not to eat the breakfast. The room where breakfast is served dark, dreary and in great need of an update - much like most of this hotel. My room smelled dingy, the air conditioner was VERY loud and the bathtub/shower had permanent stains. It should have been replaced ages ago. I won't be back.
Clean, comfortable hotel with limited amenities, but everything you need is close by, including the beautiful Kincardine beach. The staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast is available. Plenty of parking Kincardine town is a short 5 minute drive away. Excellent location for your trip to the Kincardine area
Shower Gel was empty in shower, no alternative soap bar to use Dirty Towel was folded clean, could not use to dry off Bathroom sink drained really slow, would plug up often No Alarm clock or night stands Key card to enter room didn't work on multiple occasions, had to visit front desk 6 times in 2 days Internet didn't work the first night, kept kicking me out
Loved the reception and stay, wonderful crew.... Just a pitstop but eventually gave us lot of memories.
not enough accessible power outlets, and extension cord did not have ground pin. breakfast below average, eggs and bacon look dried out and old. Only have a bowl of cereal, coffee and orange juice, eating area was clean.
Beware before you book. It says "full breakfast". It's not! Went downstairs and there wasn't anything in the cloches. I asked where the hot stuff was and they said they didn't have any that day. It was a Saturday! Full breakfast supposedly included in nightly rate yet we don't get a discount when there isn't a full breakfast. If you're going to advertise it then give it! And this is after our check in was a complete gong show. Really wanted to like this hotel because I see it has rooms with kitchens so would have made a great hime base to explore the area next summer..now I'm not thinking so.
Very comfortable and quality ans quite very clean i enjoyed very much i will co e back again the staff very friendly my wife enjoyed alot she loved the gym and the BBC patios , i loved that the beach is 5 minutes away thx it was amazing stay
Excellent value, clean, courteous attentive staff. Any requests to the staff are prompt and courteous. One of the best complimentary hotel breakfasts we've experienced. Great location for anything you need. Highly recommend this establishment.
We had an rude/unprofessional woman check us in, argued with me over cost of hotel room I was quoted at months before, made rude remarks how I was paying with debit instead of credit. The pull out couch for my son was not used because the mattress was paper thin and he couldn't sleep, so he had to sleep with me and my partner, rooms are like sardine cans.
The Management and Staff are a superb group of People - Treat their Guests like Family... Clean - Quiet - Maintained Property... Excellent Breakfast Grits Too... You are a Guest when You enter & a Friend when You leave.....
Hotel very accommodating. Breakfast was quite good..lots of choice and fresh.. Location was excellent and parking quite good. Close to other restaurants, amenities and downtown Kincardine. Used there conference room for a meeting...good locatioin the hotel n and well appointed.
Nice place, the pleather couches need some upgrading. Rooms were clean, staff friendly and accommodating . Easy access from the parking lot to the elevator and stairs. Ample parking. Lots of towels and wash clothes in the room. the reuse rag was nice touch as well.
This hotel was clean and the breakfast was more than what we expected. The staff was friendly and my granddaughter liked the large Santa that was standing in the lobby. Jenna the front desk staff person was very helpful when we checked in.
We received great service. This hotel was clean, our room was clean, the bed was comfortable, lots of pillows. The hot breakfast was great. Good value for the money. We would definitely stay here again. The location of the hotel was good.
Decent place to stay if everywhere else is too expensive or fully booked. Hot breakfast had good options and staff are friendly. No insulation in hallways so bar goers will wake you up in the middle of the night
Stay was comfortable! Stayed one night since we went to the beach!! Older hotel but comfortable bed. Good breakfast. Elevators fast!! Good amount of parking and close to food/groceries! Overall a nice place to stay for a couple of nights if you're in town.
This hotel should be shut down and completely remodeled. Everything is old and needs repaired. The doors to room you have to slam shut. Beds are like sleeping on bare springs. Floors creek with every step. Best Western should be ashamed to have their name on this building.
Would not recommend this hotel to anyone especially at $220 a night Room was dark, dirty, and outdated, toilet ran whenever another room would flush their toilet and AC extremely loud and sounded as if it was about to break.
Nice, clean, quiet hotel. Breakfast wasn't the best, but not worst either. Quite close to beaches, but you couldn't walk it, unless you are a walker. Would definitely stay here again. Easy parking……..
Very friendly hotel situated ideally for our family vacation. Wasn't sure what to expect when it was called Sure Stay. I'm used to Best Westerns. This place is top notch. Better than many Plus brands.
This is a great location with areas in both directions to explore. Upgraded rooms are very nice. Staff very helpful when there were problems with TV and Internet. Breakfast could be more interesting but still satisfactory.
The first nite, the room was good. I book thru Hotel.com. The second night, was unexpected that we have need to stay one more night. I called the hotel around 11.45pm. The person who answered the call wasn't very nice. I asked her if they have the special rate for midnight check-in. Normally hotel like to fill up their room rather let it empty and will offer special for midnight check in. This hotel DO NOT OFFER and not only that she can't give me the same rate as last night. If i want the same rate, I have to book online before I check in. By the time I finished talking, is already midnight. I was very very tired after work. I need a room to shower and rest. When i get to the hotel, at the front desk. She need million documents to check in. I told her, I wasn't having so much trouble yesterday like today with you. If you need my info, you have the record from last night. She finally asigned me a room, guess what...the room smell bad. I have to walk to front desk to tell her that. She gave me a difference room on second floor this time.. This room...smell too but not as bad as the first room.... but the AC is not cold. Come on...is midnight, why??? I am too tired to change again...it was a real bad experience on the second night. The rooms need to have a lot of upgrade. Vent too noice and do nothing, bathtub slippery; need some kind of tape or mat.
The general stay was great! My only peeve was that when we stepped of the 3rd floor elevator the floor was strewn with white something, it was not vaccuumed, however, the rest of the hallway was clean and tidy.. Did not use any ice or other amenity but our stay was comfortable.
Friendly staff, clean rooms and hallways. Breakfast was the standard for this type of hotel. Nothing ran out at breakfast. The breakfast attendant made sure everything was full up to the last minute of breakfast.
My 2 sisters and I stayed here for a night while we visited our other sister at camp. We didn't spend a lot of time here but the beds were comphy and the room was cool. The air conditioner was a little noisy at times but was still cool. Breakfast was a bonus and there was more than enough variety for a continental style breakfast.
Friendly Locals and Businesses. Great place to travel for a weekend, take your family to the beach for a picnic. Available Water activities like paddle boarding, surfing (Yes Surfing) and main street Kincardin is fun to walk shop and have a drink on one of the many patios. This was a Big For Me "You Do Not Have To PAY To PARK YOUR CAR" and there were a lot of available spots. Could become a obstacle on some weekends l am sure. But all and Fun Fun Fun.
This hotel is undergoing a renovation and the rooms are quite nice now. Unfortunately the restaraunt is not open for dinner due to Covid, I presume. All in all, I was happy with my stay and will definately use this hotel in the future
Fridge freezer needed to be defrosted as it was loud, new blow dryers needed, breakfast was over too early, no pool or hot tub or plug in room bath. But for a short stay it was ok! Maybe not a for sure stay!
My wife and I reserved this hotel via their website and the hotel rep was very friendly and helpful to make our reservation. The Hotel is very basic but all the amenities worked well and the room was nice and clean and comfortable. We had the king bed which was super. All in all a very positive experience.
I have stayed in this hotel for two nights during my trip to Tobermory. I received a lot of help from the front staff and the room is very clean and quiet. Only issue it the $20 promotion each night was not redeemable and it was not explained to us before we check out. But the front desk staff said she will look into it and try to give us something, I hope something good will happen to us soon❤️. I will definitely return to best western kincardine! Amazing sunset steps away! Don't miss it! Thank you crew! Brooke!!
We spent two nights at this Hotel. It was our first time away since Covid19 began and so we didn't know what to expect. We found this place to be clean and the safety protocols were well kept. There was very little interaction between staff or other guests. we loved the location as it was very easy to find but also easy to find the lake front. We would stay here again.
Spent two nights here for a Lake Huron trip, quite low occupancy (first night maybe six cars in total in the parking lot). Good things: - Large room, comfortable bed, good bathroom, excellent water pressure, TV with a very good selection (including free Crave TV), large parking. Other things: - The window cooling/heating unit is loud, I didn't really need it overnight. - The room cards lose their programming in less than 24 hours, this should be easy to fix. Can't comment on soundproofing, very few people in hotel at the time. Breakfast was pandemic-style - reasonable for the number of guests. The evening restaurant doesn't operate yet. Overall it's worth a try; there is a new-ish TownPlace Suites across the road, with a pool, but the price was almost double for my two-day stay.
A fuse blew, no lighting or electricity on more then half of room. I called front desk and they said push the red button. That was not working either. Also TV did not work whole time for us but of course the manager that day goes up alone and it starts to work.
Nice location nice staff cleanliness was perfect just a bit smell in the entrance parking was okay very near to the beach . Airconditioned was not really perfect! Breakfast is okay not really excelleny but its good enough
Excellent room with good studio 'kitchen'. Our shower diverter was improperly installed so the shower was not useable - my husband 'McGivered' a fix, and we had our showers ... the front desk staff said they were aware of this problem - so it either wasn't fixed or wasn't fixed correctly ....
Employees do not wear masks, bathrooms are not cleaned, you can hear everything from the people above you, loud nose in the hallway all night, breakfast is a muffin juice egg and yogurt there is nothing else, cards for your room door do not work half the time, internet is glitchy totally not worth the price.
Friendly and helpful staff. The rooms were a good size. The breakfast was satisfying but could have used a little more variety. Great location. Beaches were beautiful and not far at all. We will recommend this place to others.
the room (King with a sofa bed) is bit small. the beds are clean and comfy. bathroom is good. Shower is very good. AC is ok not too loud. The location is great if you have kids. Drive all the way down the Durham, you will find a good park with splash pad. Good to spend sometime down there.
It was good to be able to travel again, even in fits and starts, and we can see the end of this pandemic...fingers crossed. Took a bit of an adjustment, because the hotel couldn't offer its usual amenities and services, but my stay was delightful.
Friendly and helpful staff. Good internet. Decent breakfast options during check-in. Roomy suites. Very easy check-in and check-out. Upgrade provided for being a rewards member. The elevator could use an upgrade.
Reliable and dependable They take COVID cleaning very seriously and have all protocols in place. Close to services. Quiet for sleeping. Elevator is convenient. Saff friendly and helpful. Lots of parking.
Clean hotel. Comfortable beds. Well organized for breakfast. Good value and ample parking. Good cable tv, room had a refrigerator. Had hairdryer in bathroom, toiletries were good quality. Staff were professional.
Average hotel, good price for what you get. Breakfast was misleading as it was a continental one rather than a hot one during these times. Would gave been nice to know ahead of time. Good location for activities.
I too stayed in room 240 as a reviewer from Hamilton did in July. My experience in the room was about the same. I can add one good thing - the windows open wide to allow in fresh air. One of my concerns about travelling again was hotel rooms with sealed windows and so I was very glad to find fully open windows when I entered the room. Breakfast was sparse as was expected but the hotel did seem to be trying their best given the restrictions. Maybe they could invest in a higher quality coffee machine though (coffee really wasn't very good). I recommend this property to anyone looking for a stay more resembling an inn than a hotel.
Took the fam here for a 2 night stay, away from Toronto, away from work, away from the hustle-and-bustle of the busy city. Got a far end room at the ground floor, so I suggest you do not get this type of room - the door gets pretty busy at night (I don't know why) and since you are close to the stairwell, it can get a bit noisy too... Check in was a breeze, and as for breakfast, they tried their best to provide for their customers and we were content of what they had to offer, coffee, bread-and-spread, among others, no dine in, you take it back to your room; so don't expect the usual breakfast lounge because we are now living in the new norm - quit complaining.
Only 1 staff checking in and line up. Nice room with microwave and fridge. no healthy options at breakfast no fruit, no trays to carry back to room. Breakfast hours should be longer as we are on holidays and not everyone is early risers.
I'm not sure if they had a pool. I never seen on. Room was nice and clean. Modern furniture. TV could have been a bit larger for the room size. I had trouble reading the Guide shows and had to walk closer to it and I do not wear glasses. Bathroom was nice. Hand mostizer was on the wall with the shampoo I found out later with no label telling of what it was. The mirror was certainly not cleaned very well. Ice machines worked, Vending machines worked. Quiet. Fridge worked and the AC was very good. 5 Star for the alone. Continental breakfast was a big disappointment for the money spent for the night. No napkins, no fruit, no eggs, waffles. Cinnamon buns were hard. No tables I guess because Covid? The place needs just a little tweaking. Maybe once the virus gets lost they might do this. Shoppers Drug and liquor store nearby along with a Subway. All over happy for the one night here.
We stayed 2 nights to get out of the city, enjoy the beach and just have a change of scenery. I stayed using points, I am a BW Diamond Select member. We booked a “ larger king room”, got room 240 and couldn't have been happier. It was obviously newly renovated, large, comfy bed (on the firm side), had a small fridge and microwave, sofa and a large coffee table we used as a dining table! Due to covid, we did not receive housekeeping services but could request more towels, etc. For 2 nights we were fine. The staff wore masks and guests were required to in common areas. We were pleasantly surprised at the breakfast offerings. We were able to take to our room: toast, bagels, cereal, pastries, apples, bananas, juice, coffee..... Items were individually wrapped. Staff were helpful. The hotel was at full occupancy we were told. Location was a quick drive to the beach. On the same corner as a Sobeys, Tim's, McDonalds and a Boston Pizza. Closer to the beach restaurants were open with patios. We hope to stay again, we had a great time.
Was a very clean property, Staff were pleasant, No real amenities, Just a place to stay if you must visit Kincardine for any reason. Walking distance to Tim Horton's, McDonald's and Subway. You will need to go to these restaurants because it is by far THE worst continental breakfast I have ever had at a hotel. I'm NOT a picky eater lol.
After spending 2 days on the road travelling and seeing everyone wearing masks and social distancing I was surprised to see staff not wearing masks all the time. When I arrived people came in no masks and no one said a thing to them. In the morning the breakfast lounge I didn't see signs saying don't enter unless you have a mask on or it wasn't posted where you could see. This lady comes in with No mask and goes on to get her breakfast!! This Hotel needs to improve with COVID standards! No person should be allowed in common area with out a Mask period!!
I stay here for work, a lot. I routinely travel to the area for wind farms. This is a good centralized location to 1) work in the area and 2) sight-see in the area. Once it is safer to travel (COVID-19) my wife and I are planning on a getaway to the area and will be staying here. Additionally, the rooms are always clean and quiet; the restaurant has very good food; and its a building with character.
We chose the Sure Stay Plus Best Western in Kincardine Ontario because of the price and there is always a reason for lower prices. Check in was good but the receptionist failed to tell us the new COVID-19 rules, which were during our occupation of the room there would be no housekeeping, ie new towels, bed made housekeeping would not enter the room, so the plastic cups we used for a night cap and threw in the trash would not be replaced the next day. The usual breakfast was replaced by a cold continental offering that you had to take back to your room to eat, all tables and chairs had been removed. We felt uneasy at these precautions and also the hotel was under renovation which is ok. We did find the rooms are not that well sound insulated as we were woken by loud voices in another room at 1:30 am and funnily in the morning the sound of snoring was audible as I guess the loud voices slept in Lol. This experience wasn't the fun relaxing experience we had hoped for, reception staff seemed to have moved into enforcement mode rather than customer service. We had to travel to and under the circumstances would think twice about another hotel stay under COVID-19 “rules”, the hotel is great value and after the renovation will be quite nice. The location is excellent and easy to find as you arrive in Kincardine, shops are all around the hotel, Sobeys, Canadian Tire and plenty of fast food restaurants offering drive thru.
Stay here often. That says something. Staff is always friendly. Rooms are always clean. Breakfast bar is good. It's a quaint hotel right off 21. Close to restaurant,Timmies, Sobeys and a Canadian Tire so all your needs are met!
Super location and awesome hotel-great food and friendly service-highly recommended. Te bed was super, and the staff were very friendly. The restaurant had daily specials that varied from the menu and were reasonably priced
I stay here often for Work and enjoy this hotel compared to the other ones in Kinkardine, everyone is very nice and the Hotel has a Decent gym. the Restaraunt in the hotel is very nice as well. would reccomend staying here to anyone
Decent breakfast Spacious room Room came with a fridge and microwave Good location Free parking Close to the beach and lighthouse Hair dryer in the bath I felt the room rates were a little pricey, especially in the peak winter
Clean room, good breakfast could have used another meat option other than bacon one day, sausage the next. No complaints, nice spot to stay for business. Only drawback on the location (easy to get to from main hwy) is not near most restaurants in town.
Heat didn't work. Very cold after shower. Loud banging all Eve due to other doors. No buffer pads in door jams. Staff seemed unconcerned with my report to them Not likely to recommend this site to co workers. Wa unable to access internet log in page didn't tell the site of this though.
Modern hotel. with lots of parking. Rooms were clean with comforable beds, good internet, and nice television. The breakfast in the morning was very good with lots of choices. The price I paid was very good value.
Good place to stay when in the area for business. Always has good breakfast and sometimes has an omelette station. Restaurant is good when it is open. Staff is always very friendly and helpful. Boston Pizza, Tim Hortons and Sobeys all within walking distance.
Quick in and out for business but the staff and stay was good. You should feel comfortable and satisfied with the money's worth. Beds and washroom were clean and comfortable, breakfast was what you'd expect for free and there are good restaurant's close by.
Reservation for 2 room, one room with l bed, but wanted 2, but was corrected. One room TV did not work, and had to change room. Refrigerator still had food in it from previous guest. Wake up call in one room did not happen. My husband stepped barefoot on 2 screws on carpet, hurting his foot.Desk clerk did not want to hear our complaints, could care less, no apology. Would not refer this hotel to anyone. Costs was $149. and expected more for cost
The cleark at check in was rude and not very nice about us asking question about why the restaurant was closed on a Saturday night. Web site stated it was open till 9:00PM. She told us well they changed it. Only reason we picked the palce.
We had 2 couples in the room and had booked 2 beds well in advance as we were there for a wedding. When we arrive, there is one bed in the room they gave us. When I explained the situation (that I specifically asked for 2 beds) I was told there was nothing they could do as they are a small hotel and booked full. Thankfully there was a pull out couch but not the best accommodations when we booked far in advance to make sure the room was situated for us. There was also tons of dust on the desk and someone's old food in the fridge. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
Broken patio screen sliding door. Toilets not made for tall people. Internet connection limit of 2. Ad says 2 sofa beds and there was only 1. Vending machine only accepted quarters...not loonies or twonnies.
Overall it's an average place to stay for the price you pay. The quality of amenities and service are okay. The rooms are recently updated with new furniture but the place still looks old; walls, curtains, hallways. Bathroom and bed cleanliness is not the best. Breakfast is ok but some stuff are gone fast and not replaced when the room is crowded. You may have to be pleased with what's left.
Great experience staying here. They let us check in early because of the timing of the wedding we were attending in the area. Most comfortable mattress I've ever slept on at a hotel. Enjoyed the bedside earplugs (thought I might need in case my husband snored), the make up remover wipes, nice hot shower, excellent breakfast. Overall a comfortable experience.
We enjoyed a great stay at the SureStay Plus Best Western in Kincardine over the August 24th weekend. The hotel was fully booked as many visitors in town for the Kincardine Scottish final parade and celebrations, but we were pleased by the excellent service and help provided by Gail, the General Manager, who went out of her way to ensure the comfort of her guests. She personally called us prior to our visit, to confirm the room. Enjoyed the complimentary breakfast, and the use of real china and cutlery. We will be back!
Our checkin was quick and the room was clean and pleasantly appointed although I prefer washable bedspreads. Breakfast was good. The location is good for most travellers but was a bit far from downtown and the harbour for walkers.
Everything you would want in a hotel environment. Friendly service at front desk. Very unusual but nicely appointed rooms with all amenities you would want or need. Great location to other services you would use. Again staff very friendly and personable
I hadn't stayed here for several years. While the outside looks tired, and furniture piled in rooms inside the front door are not attractive, the staff were welcoming, and the stay was fine. The breakfast was better than I expected, with a chef preparing your eggs your way.
great hotel for a quick overnight stay or for a group to stay and use as a home base while you travel around the area. Comfortable bed, terrific shower and all amenities in good working condition. Took advantange of the complimentary breakfast on day two.
Breakfast was the highlight! Hot food and lots of it. Otherwise the room was nothing exciting. We found old take-out food in the fridge when we're first arrived. Only had small hand towels for showering.
We stayed at this hotel during a stopover and attempted to stay two nights. Check in with effortless although without a smile being present. When we entered our room there was dirty cups on the end tables and and plastic beer can holders beside the fridge and papers under the bed. Also the mirror that belonged on the wall was sitting on the floor as we entered the room. Obviously the rooms not cleaned to anybody's expectations. When I went to hang up my dress clothes lo and behold there was t shirts hanging in the closet so once again uncleanly. I brought the holding down to the front desk and mentioned about the housekeeping issues but not an apology even issued. We retired to bed around 10pm and I'm sure between my wife and I never have more than a half an hour sleep throughout the night. The pillows of all different shapes and sizes and textures we're not worth using and the bed was so soft that the two of us woke up with such sore backs that we could barely walk the next day. As our intended stay was two nights we checked out and found other accommodations for the second night. Breakfast in the morning was delightful and surprised that omelets and fresh eggs were being made. The only problem was it was one gentleman doing all of the work for all of the guests including restocking cooking eggs cooking omelets and cleaning up therefore he wasn't at the cooking station very often. We did hear one of the staff member come in and said it's not my job and she left. This is unacceptable for any hotel. I have seen some positive comments but very few recently. Given the choices to stay in the area have we will find alternate accommodations when we return
Nice hotel to stay, clean& comfortable room, friendly staff, quick service. Breakfast omelettes were perfect, and food were excellent . Friendly check in with great information on the area. The Door of washroom could not be closed.
They're under renovation but I keep coming back. It's 1.5km from the beach, and has some of the best jam ever at breakfast. I eat at the restaurant at the hotel every time and love it. Local pickerel, bratwurst are on the menu amongst other items. Try the sticky toffee pudding it's delish!
After staying at this hotel many times over the years, when we booked a king room for one night stay in June, the only King available was amongst a wedding group--they assumed we were part of it, and as seniors this was not acceptable. Then a $50 security deposit was requested. The hotel was under renovation, the lobby was a mess, no main dining room and certainly did not meet our expectations. We therefore left and made the 2 hour drive home. We were charged the one night $171.00, with no consideration, even though we are Best Western Rewards customers. Totally disappointed with this hotel.
Room was comfortable and clean but needed updating. The room was partially renovated which was strange, new furniture, but other areas needed fixing. Good for an overnight. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Rooms are dark and dingy, building overall is dirty with web and spiders everywhere, staff is smoking at the back door entrance which you have to walk through to get into the building, found old food on a table in the games room which was in total disarray... would not recommend this hotel.
Room should have been vacuumed and smears on head board. We were provided a room next door to a pet friendly room and we sure new that. Tissue box had 1 tissue in it. Door did not fasten shut properly. Window with no bug screen left open upon our arrival.
We were in town for 4 nights. We didn't know if we would need 2 or 4 nights booked. On hotels.com 4 nights would be $116/nt. Two nights would be $110/nt so we decided to wait since it wasn't much difference in price. It was a small/outdated hotel, under construction. The staff was nice, the room was comfortable, and they had a good breakfast....the wifi didn't work properly and the elevator had not been swept in a while (we assumed it was becuase of the construction so we didn't really care)......So still ok for a BUDGET hotel. We decided to stay for the other 2 nights; all the time thinking it would be the same $ or less. Man were we wrong!! They charged us a LOT more for the other 2 nights. It was crazy expensive for a budget type hotel under construction . Until then, we would be return customers. Now, not a chance we will return. Not a nice way to treat customers. They advised that we 'should have asked" the price. Ok true, but they also should have told us, Hey we are going to totally inflate the price of your remaining two nights. We won't be back.
When I checked in I received no member recognition. When I got to the room it had a hint of a smoke smell and there was crumbs all over the top of the comforter. The bed was hard as rocks. Worst sleep I've ever gotten at a hotel. The breakfast was alright a little messy it could be cleaned up and presented better.
Hotel was very convenient to where we were visiting and curb appeal as well as inside was very nice. We asked for newly renovated room and we did receive it. It was nice, clean and beds very comfortable. Holes and hooks were above the bed with no pictures on them which was needed for some pizazz , but was not a big deal. Continental Breakfast was very good, even an omelette station. My only complaint would be that a group of people came in the night and were very noisy so heard a lot of banging throughout the night that was very disruptive. However, I would certainly return!
Stayed as part of a wedding group. The catered dinner was excellent, breakfast omelettes were perfect and the rooms were well appointed. Bed was comfortable. Wifi was better than most and the hotel is easy to access
The room was very comfortable....king size bed provided for comfort. The bathroom had a jetted tub which I loved!! On site restaurant provided an excellent meal. I rated as 4 out of 5 only due to the noise in the hallway during the night. Apparently there was a group of workers who stay at this hotel during the week and they were quite loud in socializing between their rooms.
We booked here so we would not have to go out to eat, but was disappointed when we arrived to find the whole place under renovation. Our room was okay but I wish I had known before, I would not have come here.
We checked in to find that the hotel is in renovations to update flooring but we did not feel any of their growing pains. Friendly check in with great information on the area. Our room was fresh and clean. Shampoo, conditioner and shower gel provided in the a pump system in the show and the smell and products were fine. There was also a soap dispenser at the sink for soap and lotion - fantastic water pressure. The bed was very comfortable. Our complaint about the bed is that the comforter is heavy which was nice but because of the silky texture it tended to slide off in our two night stay. Breakfast Saturday was REAL scrambled eggs, sausage, waffles and lots of choices of pastries, yogurt and fresh fruit. Sunday's breakfast offered a chef on to make you fresh omelettes which were a delight. There was a gala at the hotel Saturday night and we struggled a bit to find a parking spot but we did not have any disturbances from the gala guests. Room walls are a bit thin but ear plugs were provided complimentary so no complaints here. We will definitely stay again.
Been staying here on and off for awhile now pending n who has best price for what I require. The timing was right 50.00 less expensive then that place across the street. They are in the process of remodelling the entire inn. They changed their breakfast a bit by adding a chef to cook your eggs while you wait awesome idea and the breakfast included in the room was awesome, I will definately stay again just for the breakfast. This place is also known as The Govenors Inn. When renos are done it will be the best place to stay in Kincardine. Looking forward to my next visit shortly
We were there just for one night but it was an excellent experience. The room was larger than what you get in newer buildings and the bathroom was large, clean and very cute. The breakfast was so much better than what we expected. They even had a chef who made your eggs to order at an omelette bar.
I enjoyed my stay at the hotel. My mother is in a retirement home close by and I live 2 1/2 hours away ... so I need affordable, cost-effective accommodations when I come up to spend time with her and take care of things for her as I am her POA. I usually stay, for 2-3 days when I do get up to see her to maximize my time with her .. she has dementia .. and is 87. I will definitely stay here again.
We came to Kincardine for a birthday party.Despite the renovations going on at the hotel our stay was great value. The rooms were very clean, and we also had our pet dog with us who was made very welcome. The breakfast was very good. We certainly would come back here.
The Surestay in Kincardine offers a quiet and pleasant stay. The staff is very friendly and very helpful. However the decor of the hotel is a bit dated, but from what I was told they are renovating and getting new furniture.
We were snow locked for a week in Kincardine. The staff made the best out of a bad situation. They were friendly, accommodating and empathetic to the situation. The property is aging but cleaning. The staff is what makes this hotel a pleasure to stay at.
Unfortunately our stay coincided with a hotel full of kids participating in a hockey tournament. I know it is not the fault of the hotel for badly behaved kids running up and down the stairways and hallways and banging on guest room doors but they should have had more staff to control this and to stop the parents from hanging out in the hallways talking until midnight. Also more staff to clean up the breakfast counter and dining room areas in the morning that were disgusting after 50 kids have pawed and clawed everything in sight. To top things off our room heating/cooling unit blew up at 4 AM making a sound like a Semi-truck parked in the room ... so no heat! Also, the bathroom fan was ridiculously loud and no night light in the bathroom means you either take a flashlight with you at 4 AM or get wide awake with a brilliant white light and loud fan noise. Otherwise, the bed was comfortable and the woman at reception was nice as was the cleaning lady. Sorry, overall I was not happy!
I stayed at the Best Western Plus Hotel for one night with my family. The hotel staff was very friendly, very clean rooms, breakfast was much better than other big hotel. Great location - close to the beach. I highly recommend this hotel.
Excellent hotel most likely vist the area on vacation and stay here. Friendly staff, clean clean comfortable rooms, nice breakfast, no internet issues, and friendly staff. Hotel is in a good location in town and clos to lake.
Duration of stay: October 10 to October 18, 2018 (8 days) Was in this hotel during my regular work rotation as a consultant in Kincardine, Ontario. It was early in the morning, on my fifth day, having breakfast. As usual, I started preparing my cereals and my coffee. Took a handful of the little milk container from the cooler and started opening them automatically and pouring them into my cereals and coffee as usual when I suddenly caught a whiff of a nasty, sour odor. I looked down and to my disgust, looking back at me is a green, floating mold on the milk I am about to pour. I opened the next container and to my dismay, it was also stale and moldy. Felt like throwing up at that time as the smell was really bad. I called the attention of the Hotel Manager and showed her the molds on the surface of the milk (see the pictures I took as evidence). She quickly grabbed them from the table and went away without saying much. My wife who was with me at that time, and myself threw all our foods in the garbage and was not able to eat anymore. The manager on duty came back with a small bowl of milk products and said, "These are all new. They are not expired." She then left in a hurry without saying much. She is the kind who did not show much concern for what just happened. No acceptable apology nor a demonstration of proactive action that something was seriously done to address such serious situation. Nothing at all! It was just another day...She's the grouchy type. For the rest of our stay, in spite of the fact that its part of what we've paid to stay in that hotel, we avoided breakfast there like a plague for the rest of our stay. We were doubly worried that we might have ingested other spoiled breakfast foods and dairy products in the several days prior to our discovery that breakfast supplies were not being monitored and inspected for quality. I warned others I know staying in the hotel to be extra careful. Lessons being shared: 1) Be aware with what you put into your foods and drinks, and into your mouth. Always check expiry dates of foods and milks, and observe closely what you have in front of you. Note that many does thing without much thought to it. We're all used to doing the same thing over and over again, it becomes automatic and we all lose the power of observation that can dictate if we get sick or not. Discovery: 1) Hotel is old. You can actually smell the ancient aroma as soon as you get in, walk the hallway, and most especially, enter the room. Overall theme color is earth color-brown, dark brown and bright brown, carpet and all. 2) Someone told us that it was previously a funeral home several years ago before it was converted to a hotel.
Staff were very friendly, the bed was comfortable and the room was spotless. Unfortunately, the very thick duvet required one to run the air conditioner at night or become way too hot. I was also very slippery and slid off the bed. The sink tap leaked when turned on high. However, the manager responded to my review and said that rooms were being renovated and bed coverings were being changed; a great bit of news! After we figured out the "automated" cutlery dispenser and found the cream etc. we had a very pleasant breakfast. We would return, especially if they replace the heavy duvets!
