The chose this hotel based in its vicinity to our planned activities. The hotel was located on one end of town with a beautiful view of Bald Mountain resort. It was also very near the walk/bike path and an easy bike ride to downtown restaurants, breweries and bars. We chose a queen bedroom since it was just two of us. The decor was a bit old but it was clean and maintained. We ate breakfast each morning at our hotel, which was free and had a nice variety. Our bed was a bit too soft for our liking but we dealt with it. The pool was heated and hot tub was plenty warm. We would stay here again.
Such nice and accommodating staff. The view is stunning and the rooms were very clean. The breakfast had fresh fruit and yogurt in addition to a nice variety of warm breakfast options. They have four Adirondack chairs facing the ski resort.
Smelly hallways. Dirty carpeting and walls. This place should be condemned. If you want the feeling that Jeffrey Dahmer is going to be found lurking in the hallway, then this place is for you. Broken coffee machine in the lobby that has been "Out of Service" according to "Lodge" staff for weeks. The use of the word "Lodge"by this establishment is in insult to the word itself." The breakfast is horrific. Stale bread. A cereal dispenser that has not been cleaned since the Carter Administration and dishes that are unclean. The room was dank and had previous occupant food debris on the floor. The toilet contained a memory of someone's bad digestive experience which was a wonderful touch, but the toilet paper was nicely rolled. Deceptive from the outside with the cheerful landscaping, but upon entering you will soon find out that horrors await your stay. BEWARE. DO NOT STAY HERE! You have been warned. Believe the reviews you read. If I could leave less than 1 star I would.
Location: A few blocks off the main drag. Easy driving or walking distance to town. Beautiful setting with a view of the ski mountain. Close to where you catch the gondola. The first stop is the Roundhouse bar and restaurant. Hotel: The hotel was built in the 1950's. It has a cute Austrian look on the outside. It is clean but the carpet shows its age. It has a free breakfast, fitness room, and business center. Room: The big downside is the the A/C blew very cold across the bed. I did not get a good night's sleep. The room was a good size with one chair and a desk with another chair. The mattress was soft. There was no microwave. The was limited vanity space. The room slated slightly, one drawer slid open regularly. Staff: Friendly and helpful. Breakfast: Good variety, well stocked, well prepared. Friendly, helpful attendant. Fitness: The fitness room is being remodeled. The temporary fitness room has one recumbent bike, one treadmill, one elliptical, free weights, floor pads and balls. Business center: Semi-private Price: A bit high but normal for the area. Other: Downstairs there is a ping pong table, air hockey and foosball.
We really enjoyed our stay at this Best Western hotel. We received a very friendly greeting as we check in and were given both bottled water and cookies. Throughout our visit, we were impressed with the courtesy, efficiency, and helpful attitude of the employees. This, combined with the comfortable accommodations, leads us to recommend this property wholeheartedly.
The pool and jacuzzi were so filthy you couldn't get in them. The shower was dirty with hair and dirt, and no hot water. Dog poop all around the hotel outside. Microwave extinct. Nice employees, horrible hotel.
We loved the location and service. The room seemed old and smelly. The carpet may need cleaning. We lived the game room! That was fun!
My wife stayed here on a business trip, she mentioned that the beds were super comfortable and they had a great continental breakfast. She also mentioned that the staff was very friendly and helpful.
This is an extremely nice place with a spacious room. There is a welcoming sitting area with a fireplace and 24h9r tea/coffee. The breakfast included hot food and fresh yogurt and fruit. The location at the edge of town was also a plus. Convenient parking.
Lovely, quaint hotel with beautiful views. Had the best breakfast bar. Would love to give 5 stars but mattresses needed replacing. Wonderful guest services.
Friendly staff. Gorgeous view. Well worth the trip. The town is easily walkable and has many store to check out. The hotel is conveniently located where you can access downtown and access several walking trails. I recommend this hotel for sure.
Convenient clean and nice place to stay. close to trails, mountains, river for a lot of great walking and relaxing.
Room was super comfortable, hostess super nice and helpful, breakfast super yummy, couldn't have had a better experience! Surrounding area was beautiful too. Traveling from Ca. To Mn, we came up for the day/night to pay our respects to Ernest Hemingway, so glad we found this wonderful hotel that allowed us to have our two kitties stay in the room with us.
great view of Mount Baldy, walking distance to River Run chair lifts. quick stroll to downtown Ketchum.
We got engaged in Sun Valley several years ago so we wanted to come back. This place is located directly across from Bald Mountain so if you're a skier it's perfect. We really enjoyed the ambience. The pool was heated so that was nice. Staff was friendly and the continental breakfast was really good. Lots of variety.
A birthday week ski trip, turned out, after some unavoidable challenges, into a dream vacation thanks to the fantastic and amazing kindness and support of the entire staff especially the GM Mary. I can't say enough about how well I was taken care of Excellent Customer! The customer was clearly the priority. Super kind and friendly staff. Amazing complimentary full breakfast super clean and beautiful updates rooms. Oh, and so close to the slopes. We will be back!
Tyrolean gave us a lovely one bedroom suite that worked great. Although it is an older property it's maintained beautifully and spotless with their team always cleaning and polishing. They give a lovely breakfast with a myriad of choices including fresh fruit. There is also an outdoor heated pool and jacuzzi which our granddaughter enjoyed. The staff is lovely as well.
Check in was smooth and easy. Front desk lady was nice and courteous. Have a great recommendation for an amazing Mexican restaurant. Rooms were clean, comfortable and cozy. Will definitely stay there again if the need arises. Cookies were nice and warm.
As always a great stay. Awesome views, fantastic breakfast, great location. Some reviews are just too picky I guess, at every turn they aren't trying to conceal there's no elevators, but somehow they take a crummy review. We recommend this to everyone and they love it. Thank you guys for another great stay.
Will and Jeremy at the front desk were awesome! Great customer service. When we had an issue with the size of our room, they effienctly problem solved and got us squared away. They were friendly and professional. The 2 different rooms we stayed at were excellent upgrades!
Our annual ski strip to Sun Valley was once again enhanced by staying at the Best Western Tyrolean Lodge. Such character and comfort eclipses other lodging, with the European feel throughout the place, from the thick comforters and fluffy pillows in the comfortable rooms to the huge fireplace and nice sofas, chairs & games table in the lobby area. The self serve beverage machine in the lobby is always available with a variety of drinks available. Try a “Dirty Chai” on your way out to the jacuzzi and pool. There are cute vintage Tyrolean ski pictures throughout the 3 levels, contributing to the feel of the place like a family-run Alpine lodge. The staff and management are special and go above & beyond with advice about the area and activities. The location is great as the shuttle bus stop is right out front & is the closest stop to the River Run base at Sun Valley Ski Resort. It's also close enough to town to walk to the main shopping area. The free buffet breakfast is excellent and includes a fresh yogurt-making machine and waffle maker. There's such a variety of pastries& cereal and fruit and hot food you'll eat too much. Fireplace in the dining room makes that area cozy too. We love the Tyrolean Lodge.
The staff here rocks. They are all very kind, helpful and have great attitudes. We found this to be the vest value for service and location, especially for the prices. Totally transparent booking, no surprises. The shuttle for Sun Vally and Dollar go right by here, and are free, making it a total hit for us. Breakfast was also awesome, and some options changed daily. We would absolutely stay here again. Cool retro modern style lodge. Hot tub had a great view, we watched a snow cat groom the summit trails!
Everything was great at the Best Western Tyrolean Lodge. I especially enjoyed the heated salt water pool. Staff was nice, everywhere was clean, and it had a good work out room. I like that the bath tubs are a decent size too.
These folks managed to squeeze us in after we had some issues with the other BW in town. What a difference a change in location makes! To answer the manager's reply to my review at the "other" place, yes, the Tyrolean offered us a place to wax skis for the Boulder Mountain Tour. They cleared some space in their Maintenance shop for us and other skiers to set up our wax tables and prep our skis. That was most greatly appreciated!! All the staff was both very helpful and cheerful throughout our visit. The location, though a little off Main Street, is much quieter as you don't get the street noise or service trucks early in the morning. The rooms have had a nice update since we last stayed here several years ago. Maid service and restocking was provided every day, rather than by exception/request like some other locations in town. The room, a family suite, was awesome! Plenty of room for us and our gear, plus a nice view of the River Run side of Bald Mountain. So much to like with the free breakfast, game room, hot tub, hot drink dispenser by the front desk and a staff that was ready to assist at every turn.
This property is literally across the street from the Bear Mountain parking lot, which has a shuttle to the main lodge if you don't want to walk the short trail. Hotel is nice. Rooms are small and the split levels are a little confusing, but we were very comfortable and the breakfast was great. Verizon service is pretty poor and the wifi didn't work for us, but that was a minor nuisance. We would definitely stay here again.
The Hotel was an old Hotel that has been updated and was very nice and had great views of the surrounding area. From my room I could see the Ski Lift. The town was a delight from the local Restaurants to the many shops. I will be returning in a few weeks during the Holidays.Should you be looking for a small town with great food and Shops to visit and purchase unusual items this the place. It has a wonderful small town atmosphere, and charm.
Excellent motel. Clean, quiet, safe, free parking. Very nice lobby area with fireplace and comfortable furniture. Great amenities including 24/7 lobby specialty coffees, full hot and cold breakfast, in room coffee & refrigerator, free WiFi that worked well, good cable TV menu, game and exercise room with a nearby microwave. Fast check in/out, friendly staff. Close to downtown Ketchum and Sun Valley Resort.
Excellent room with the best beds! The entry has a living room with fireplace, books free newspapers, games and coffee. Very welcoming! We'd stay here again. Breakfast was awesome. Even the parking spaces are bigger - so no door dings! Views of the hills and tucked away into a cozy corner of the town. BEST COFFEE! Yum
This is a hidden gem in a very quiet location. We had a slight hitch with our reservation and the customer service was outstanding. They made it right and then some (on a Saturday night). Our room was very clean and modern. The desk clerks made us feel like we were valued customers (shout out to Will-you are an asset to your employer). The breakfast buffet was great, with fresh bagels, cooked eggs-meat-potatoes. There was vanilla yogurt, cottage cheese, and fresh fruit with plenty more to choose from. (However, the only available oatmeal was packaged.) Ketchum is a beautiful area. If you are just passing through, you will find the scenery beautiful. But watch your speed going through the small towns ;) We did not use any of the amenities. We highly recommend the Best Western Tyrolean Lodge and would stay there again.
I love staying at the Best Western Tyrolean. The salt water pool and hot tub is so nice. It's very clean, awesome breakfast, and comfortable rooms. I love the Swedish theme. Great desk for work in your room, business center, comfy lobby, and great exercise room.
The best breakfast we have ever had at a hotel that offered hot breakfast! There were so many choices and such a variety that there was something for even the most picky eater, my husband! He never had a complaint, which is very unusual for him! For me, I just enjoyed it.
Should have read prior reviews as we did not realize there is no elevator in hotel and room was on 3rd floor. As we are 74, needed help to get luggage up to room. Had to ask a couple of times for that. The bed linens were damp in one bed. The hotel layout was confusing in floors and stairs and no map provided. Staff seemed uninterested in our issues.
Room was comfortable but not great. There ste mo accommodations for disability. Breakfast up a flight of stairs; other facilities are d a flight. No elevators Staff is new and not familiar with the ares. Breakfast is provided but even with variety not good-tables often dirty
The price, the service and the amenities as well as the structure make this a must in otherwise pricey Ketchum/Sun Valley Idaho. With a Ski Mountain view across the street to the grounds serving the clientele with many Adirondack Chairs to absorb the atmosphere, the location is perfect. Lastly, walking distance to many downtown shops and restaurants is a plus!
Great breakfast with fresh made waffles and every topping imaginable, eggs and breakfast meat varied daily and even included corned beef hash one morning and so much to choose from. Around the clock cappuccino machine with a variety of choices in the lobby, large comfortable room, sitting area outside to watch the paragliders jumping off of Bald Mountain, nearby ski lift and gondola rides to the top of Bald Mountain, and convenient location to explore the Sawtooth Mountains. There was no elevator though and a lot of steps to carry luggage to your room. The hotel staff did offer to help with the luggage if we needed it. We would definitely recommend staying here if you don't have any problem with stairs.
This hotel was not worth the money. Our experience was less than average. - Uncomfortable bed. - Stuffy hallways with poor ventilation. - Dirty utensils at breakfast with no available staff in the dining area for any requests. - Rooms were fine in terms of cleanliness.
From the beautiful view of Bald mountain at River Run day lodge to the warm greetings upon entering the hotel this place is amazing! This is my go to hotel every time I travel for business to Ketchum. The breakfast was delicious. The fresh fruit and warm food to the staff this place meets all my needs with a smile and positive attitude.
Loved the staff and facility. Walking distance to town. Love the coffee machine in lobby. Also used the microwave on first floor. Wonderful breakfast.. that rotated throughout the week. this is our second stay at this hotel and would stay again
Clean, lovely room, delicious breakfast, excellent location. Stayed with 5 friends for a ski trip and were pleasantly surprised when we realized the overflow parking we parked in the night before was the resort parking lot. Excellent location and value. The only complaint is that the walls/floors were thin and it sounded like there were tons of children running around in the mornings.
The large included breakfast and the lobby-based espresso / chocolate drink machine helped make the Tyrolean a terrific value. The location for skiing Baldy means you can walk out the door in your ski boots, cross the road 100 feet away and take the free bus that stops there right to the gateway to River Run gondola/chair; less than a two minute bus ride. Comfortable room although the bathroom is a little cramped for space. Would return for a future ski vacation for sure. Easy to get to "downtown" Ketchum as well.
It's a decent hotel. Serves it purpose for a short 1 night stay. Nothing fancy but good enough for the price in this area. We had the Mountain View room with a king size bed and it had a fridge. Hotel is close to the Main Street in town…could walk during nice weather. Room was clean and bed was comfortable. They had free breakfast but we were not able to use.
Overall great stay here in SunValley, Id. We had a king suite on Second floor which was very spacious, clean rooms and view of Bald Mountain. The bed room was a good size and the adjoining bathroom had a walk- in shower and plenty of towels. The suite had tv's in bedroom & living room and a convenient area with small fridge, microwave, coffee maker and sink which we used for coffee in morning and place to keep our wine cool for evening relaxing! The living room had clean upholstered furniture and a balcony overlooking the mountain where many travelers who stayed at hotel skied. Breakfast served in a warmly decorated room with gas-lit fireplace was a treat! There was fresh fruit, yogurt, waffles, eggs & bacon & sausage and a variety of bagels, muffins and toast. Plenty of well prepared food for any appetite. ( coffee, hot chocolate & juices as well) The reception was very friendly and added in making our visit very enjoyable.
I do not normally write reviews for hotels, but our experience at this BW was so great I had to comment. The location, the friendliness of the staff, the breakfast in the morning, the outdoor pool and just the overall feel of the hotel was so great. They exceeded my expectations in every area. Next time I am in Sun Valley I will 100% be staying at this hotel again.
We stayed at the Tyrolean Lodge just before ski-season kicked-in. As a Rewards Member, the front desk staff was very kind and helpful. The room was clean and, while the mattress was a bit soft (e.g., well worn) it had a very nice comforter on it and the room was well-appointed. The hotel is quiet and located close to amenities. Would absolutely stay there, again .. recommended!
This hotel was intended to look like an old ski chalet and I think they hit the mark. There are some areas that may feel a little dated but the rooms and common areas have been kept up beautifully. The lobby area with the fireplace and seating was gorgeous and I could only imagine what it would've been like with snow falling outside. And don't miss the espresso in the lobby. Nice perk! If that's not enough, the breakfast in the morning is astounding! There's so many options in a room big enough to hold a good amount of guests. I wasn't expecting a ton when we booked this room as we were passing through but it was one of my favorites on our road trip!
I loved all the breakfast options. The sign said continental breakfast but that was one of the most comprehensive free breakfasts I've had in a hotel. The pool and hot tub were saline so quite wonderful without a chlorine smell!
Nice place to stay. Was only in town for one night, and left before breakfast was being served. But it was as you'd expect from a Best Western property, but had a really great location! I will definitely be staying here again
Summer visit with the family including young children. Pool is clean and a great place relax between activities. Location is perfect, great view of the mountains so hiking trails (and ski lifts) and city center are both about a 5-10 min walk. Just opposite directions. The staff was great and I'm a biscuits and gravy fan so the continental breakfast was hit. Really good spread, including a waffle maker, fresh fruit, and all those things. Rooms were nice - super clean, comfortable beds, and quiet. Balconies run across both sides of the property so we able to (quietly) go outside at night and check out the stars with the kiddos. We will be back and recommend to all!!
Great location and the staff is super friendly. Love the view. Very quiet and clean. Breakfast was great. Recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to sun valley for an extended stay or just a night. I will definitely be staying here again.
Great location; Staff was terrific and very helpful. Room was exactly what I needed. My second stay there. I would definitely go back again. Convenient spot near town. Great views of Idaho mountains - very relaxing.
Awful. Sounded like a herd of elephants all night. Paid for Mountain view and the double pane glass of the door was full of condensation. 200 bucks down the drain for a sleepless, viewless stay. I cant believe this is even allowed
Convenient, clean, friendly place! Everything works & staff is very accommodating. We stay there every year while in transit to different destinations. Breakfast is very good with multiple choices offered. All in all an excellent place!
Plenty of space for humans and dogs alike ( I gheard small children in the halls as well). AC was not really necessary as the Spring temps were comfortable. Free breakfast-- very helpful. Lobby fireplace seating perfect for late night reading. Pleasant front desk staff. Proximity to trails and casual hiking/ ski lifts/ walks into town--- perfect!
We had a dog we were bringing to have surgery in Sun Valley, I had been so focused on the surgery I hadn't really thought about accommodations for a place to stay especially with the pet. When I talked to the gentleman to book this room he was so assuring and kind and explained so many things to me that I hadn't even thought of. I was so happy with just initial call. But when we got there we were very happy with the stay, the staff and room.
The hotel is attractively decorated, very clean, with updated rooms, offers a gym and heated outdoor pool and the best variety and quality in a free breakfast I have seen. The checkin was easy and the attendent was very pleasant. It is right at the Bald Mountain parking lot.
I stayed here while attending the Sun Valley Film Festival and was more than satisfied with the service, the location, and the amenities. Friendly staff, large rooms, nice breakfast, and plenty of parking. It was a win, especially in a area where hotels can be pricey. I highly recommend it and will be coming back for future stays.
Steven at the front desk was outstanding! From helping us book our rooms to accommodating any necessities throughout our weeklong stay, he was on top of it all. Housekeeping also did a great job keeping us comfortable in our rooms. We look forward to returning to the Tyrolean Lodge next year for another great ski vacation in Sun Valley! Thanks again Steven and the rest of the team for making our trip awesome!
my 4th time staying here and it just keeps getting better. If they did not recently remodel the rooms, it sure looks like it and the bed had that soft feel while being firm enough for support. Good water pressure in the shower and the TV worked just fine which isn't always the case at other places. Very quiet too as it sounded like we were the only ones there which was not the case. This time I enjoyed reading in the lobby with coffee from their new machine (or maybe I had never noticed it before) which also did lattes and hot chocolate. They had the very real looking gas fire going too. Now for the best part--BREAKFAST. Seriously, you will pay $40 for breakfast for 2 at a restaurant that is not this good. I wish we had time for the nearby trail, but that will be another time and there WILL be a return visit.
Great location in Ketchum near River Run Lodge. Outdoor hot tub and pool with a view of the mountain was a real plus. Good breakfast in large room away from lobby. Will plan to sty hear again as the location and value can't be beat.
The hotel is in a great location if you're in town to ski Sun Valley. It's a short walk to town, however, you can also drive to town and find parking pretty easily. The hotel has very friendly staff ready to assist with anything you need. Their hot breakfast is really good with a lot of variety. I would highly recommend if you're visiting Ketchum!
Stayed 2 weeks (19 Feb to 4 Mar 2022) while skiing Sun Valley. Couldn't be happier with my hotel choice. Walked to and from lifts each day, cutting through car parks. All staff were consistently helpful and friendly. Stayed in room 265, corner room with access to a shared front balcony overlooking the ski mountain. Very comfortable bed, clean & well maintained. Safe, bar fridge, small coffee machine. There is also a larger beverage machine in the lounge area, free. Housekeeping cleans the room every 3 days on a longer stay, this service needs to be requested. Amazing daily breakfast - eggs, bacon, potatoes, biscuits &gravy, burrito bar, waffle maker, fresh fruit, yoghurt, juices, teas, coffees, pastries, cereals etc. Hot tub & pool were a real highlight - many enjoyable conversations were had there winding down after a days skiing. Great stay. Not the most luxurious property in the area but felt welcoming & represented good value. Would return.
Hotel is very rundown and in desperate need of an update. Paper thin walls and doors, could hear other guests breathing. At 6:30 every morning the steady train of ski boots clomping down the hollow floors and metal stairs woke us for the day. We went to breakfast and struggled to keep our shoes on due to the sticky floors, good thing breakfast was cold too. The ONLY redeeming quality is the proximity to the ski area, where you can get yelled at by the staff and slay some icy runs that get skiid off by 10,000 tourists in the first hour. Disappointing to say the least. We travel over 100 days a year and this is a bottom 20% destination for lodging and skiing, average for nightlife.
This motel is quite old but is nicely updated. It is hard to beat the location which is very close to River Run lodge and ski hill. Near Ketchum Main St. and restaurants. Is on a quiet street. would stay again.
Highs: -Great value for the money -Strong complementary breakfast -Walkable to ski resort -Warm cozy atmosphere with classic ski lodge feel -Really nice staff -Complementary parking Cons: -Really thin walls -No elevators, if you got a lot of stuff I always make my reviews relative to the price point of competitors. Meaning, I'm not comparing this property to properties that were charging $1000/night. This property is old, but it has charm. It has that warm classic ski lodge feel and is clean. The staff is super friend and the complementary breakfast is the best I have ever seen at a property with this price point. Overall, the value you get for the money is some of the best I have experienced! Would strongly recommend this property if you are looking for something in this price point. Also, the resort is a walkable distance, probably about 10 min if you wanted to do that. Or park for free at the resort or take the buss which has a stop kiddy corner from the hotel! One con I had was that the walls are extremely thin. My neighbors were just talking during the early afternoon at what seemed to be a normal volume and I could make out 70% of what they were saying.
This was a Great value in the Ketchum area. It is super close to the ski lift and has a definite charm about it with the fire places and intriguing hallways. The hotel is older, but clean and comfortable. I think they are going for an swiss mountain lodge type of feel and it seems to work.
My girlfriend and I had booked our recent stay at the Best Western Tyrolean Lodge in Ketchum, Idaho through Expedia. When we arrived at the hotel, we wanted to upgrade to the room that she had last time. BUT, we found out that it was nearly impossible to upgrade, because we had booked through Expedia. Steven, who was working at the front desk, said that he could handle it for us. He worked diligently for about 20 minutes and somehow found a way to make it happen. He got us upgraded to an amazing room with a view of the mountains and ski lift at NO EXTRA CHARGE! Thank you, Steven, and thank you, Best Western!
This GEM of a hotel is exquisite! I live in San Diego (sorry to be another Californian coming to Idaho!) and came for a week to visit my best friend. The plans kept changing by the day but the front desk guys--first Steven and then William--were amazing, funny, helpful and flexible. I was truly grateful for their kindness. I have a phenomenal room overlooking the mountains and the leaves are turning beautiful fall colors. Breakfast is more than a person could possibly want or need--fresh fruit, eggs, bacon, cereal, etc... The hotel is clean and charming. Can't say enough about this treasure1
A charming, very clean and friendly hotel, situated near the base of Mt. Baldy that boasts a very efficient and accommodating staff. The hotel is within walking distance of nearly all the amenities the town of Ketchum and the surrounding mountains have to offer.
Hotel is quaint with a great location at base of Bald Mountain. Clean, super nice staff. Great breakfast buffet. Short walk to everything. Good value for the area. Pool and jacuzzi overlooking the mountains are also a plus. We had a family suite and it was very spacious. Plus, love the "real" coffee mugs and wine glasses in the rooms.
The hotel is located in a great location next to the mountain. Its easy to walk to restaurants downtown as well as several hiking and mountain biking trails. The hotel has a very attentive and friendly staff that made our stay even better. When the front desk heard that I loved some of their breakfast buffet items, they made sure there was extra from the kitchen staff the next morning. When staying in the Sun Valley area, this is one of the most convenient and friendly hotels.
This hotel is fantastic. My friends and I come here to visit my friend a few times a year from college. We always have the best time. Customer service is fantastic and the rooms are always clean and well-maintained. Pool is clean Entire experience is painless No problems with other guests/staff Incredible view Super easy checkout
Stayed one night in July 2021 (room 240 to be specific) and I would have left if I had any options. This is one of those hotels that markets with very careful photographs. Once you arrive and it's too late to leave, you get a nasty OVERPRICED old room in a rundown old property. Because you are able to see a ski mountain from the parking lot, they feel righteous to rob you for a garbage room. The room smell - yikes. It was like open sewer merged with a crime scene. The bathroom fan was cleaned around 20 years ago. I had to leave that crusty nasty fan on to try to vent this nasty room. Bed was way uncomfortable. The breakfast thing wasn't half bad, but this hotel is NOT good. Tripadvisor is very wrong to have it highly rated.
We stayed at this hotel on our recent visit to Sun Valley. The hotel is charming—definitely look like an alpine ski lodge. The location is perfect—right at the bottom of Baldy and a block from the bike trail. It is just a 10 minute walk to downtown Ketchum. Our room was on the first floor (soon real views others have bragged about), but it was very clean and comfortable. The hotel's amenities are excellent—we spent time in the pool and the hot tub which we enjoyed. The breakfasts in the morning were excellent—no sign of the boxed breakfast so common over the last year. The only negative is that the walls were thin—we could hear our neighbor's tv at 1:00 AM, but it didn't. Stop us from good sleep. We would definitely stay here again
Front Desk staff was excellent and very responsive and helpful with things to see The continental Breakfast staff was excellent and very responsive to any request or inquiry. Had the best hot breakfast of anycompetitors hotel during a 9 days of travel.
Third time staying, has always been with a pet. Great location, especially with pets. Good value for the money. Staff is great. Enjoy chatting with them. Low key, comfortable. Staff always willing to help out. Will be staying here for my next visit.
We recently stayed two nights at the Best Western Tyrolean Lodge in Ketchum, Idaho. Located a couple blocks of off the main street, we found it to be an older hotel that has been well-cared for. Staff members were helpful and friendly. The room we had was a “Mountain View” room, facing the ski lifts a short ways to the southwest of town. The entrances to the rooms are inside the building, with a sliding glass door that opens onto a shared balcony. It has a European ski-type décor, which makes it quite welcoming. Amenities included free wifi, microwave, fridge, in-room safe, breakfast, outdoor pool and hot tub, and I think there was a workout room. The complimentary continental breakfast was clean, closely monitored, and was quite adequate with a variety of hot dishes as well as breads, fruit, cereal, drinks etc. The cost was somewhat less than the more trendy places to stay. It was within a short walking distance to food and entertainment. We were quite happy with our stay there.
Wyatt, the young man who checked me in, was very helpful and friendly. My room was very comfortable. Although I could hear my neighbors, I ran the fan and that took care of that. The neighborhood feels safe and is walkable with a paved bike/hike trail through town. It's in a great location; I enjoyed eating breakfast while watching the ski lifts and staring at the mountain. The bike/hike trail is an easy walk nearby. The shower was strong and hot, good Wi-Fi, and a hot delicious breakfast with full options. There is an outdoor pool and hot tub, though I did not use either. I would definitely stay here again - maybe longer next time.
We were extremely please with the Tyrolean Lodge in Ketchum. The check-in was fast and friendly. The breakfast bar while limited was still wonderful. The only suggestion for improvement I have really is to update the mattress' and pillows--while I understand everyone has different sleep preferences, I felt that this bed in particular was 'well used' and was probably time to replace it. I personally prefer a pretty firm mattress/pillow combo, but this was ultra soft, like sinking into a bowl of marshmallows, but without the perks. The location is also excellent. While it was a holiday weekend when we were there I was surprised in some regards as to how quiet it was in town (I was very grateful for the lack of tourists.) Ketchum is such a hotspot most of the year (especially ski season), so to have a lack of people and wide open spaces was wonderful We had a pet friendly room as we traveled with our doggo and he was also pleased with the accommodations (the pet friendly rooms are hardwood/laminate floors in order to make allergies less and cleaning easier, but do have a nice large area rug for your 4-legged pals). Another great amenity was the storage closet. We had our bikes with us and did not want to leave them attached to our vehicle or place them in our room (due to the space). They had a secure storage area and were gracious enough to let us leave them after we checked-out even, so we could confidently go for a hike and not worry about a trailhead break-in. The location for winter is probably one of the most convenient to access Mt. Baldy and the River Run area of Sun Valley Ski Area.
We found out room to be spacious, clean and comfortable. The breakfast buffet was delicious. My favorite was the biscuits and gravy. The staff was friendly and helpful. They made some great restaurant recommendations. Yes, I would stay there again.
Dated but very good hotel. Location was good and the hotel was clean and neat. All staff made you feel welcome. The breakfast was more than we expected and there was a good variety of breakfast items. Everything in the breakfast area was clean and replenished in a timely manner. You can pay more for other hotels in Ketchum but you want find any nicer.
Great hotel with easy access to walking trails. Incredible views. The free coffee/latte machine in the lobby was the perfect way to start the day. Very clean and comfortable rooms and the staff was very friendly and helpful. They do not have an elevator so you may want to request a first floor toom.
I stayed at this hotel for six nights and had a very positive experience. The hotel is located an easy 10 minute walk from downtown Ketchum, and about a five minute walk to the Wood River Trail system where you have endless access to hiking and biking with miles of mountain scenery. And you can walk to the River Run ski plaza for access to more trails. The hotel has a cozy feel with several fire places and comfortable furniture. A full breakfast is served everyday, and a highlight is the 24 hour lobby coffee machine where you can get espresso, coffee, cappuccino etc. from fresh ground coffee beans. My quiet second floor room had a balcony and beautiful view of Bald Mountain. The staff are especially pleasant and helpful, with a clear focus on meeting customer needs. Special kudos to William and Jerry at the front desk for their outstanding service. The Best Western Tyrolean is a good choice if your priorities are good value, convenience and comfort.
Once again the Tyrolean Inn proved to be the best choice of hotel for our annual ski trip to Sun Valley! The location is close to the River Run Ski Lodge at the ski resort, and it's the last stop before the resort on the town shuttle so you can skip driving and parking to ski. The hotel is charming and cozy and reminiscent of an Alpine Lodge, with a roaring fireplace in the big comfortable lobby, excellent huge breakfast with hot and cold choices, comfortable beds with puffy fat comforters and the most comfortable pillows you've ever had the pleasure to try. The staff is great and go out of their way to help. The jacuzzi and pool are well maintained. A special mention is due the automatic beverage machine in the lobby, available 24 hours a day and providing excellent coffee drinks ground from whole beans, plus cocoa and other hot drinks.
Great location.. you can wall to lifts but there is a bus that picks you up across the street. Friendly staff. Nice breakfast in the morning. We look forward to staying there again on our trip to Sun Valley
This inexpensive hotel in Ketchum cannot be beat. It is next to the ski resort parking lot and walkable to town. The newly remodeled room was immaculate and all employees are really cool. I will be back in Ketchum for skiing next winter and would not think of staying anywhere else. An outstanding choice for a ski hotel in a great town!
Stayed at this hotel for 4 nights in early March, 2021. Hotel is comfortable and, most importantly, is approximately 200 yards from the River Run lift. It is on the bus stop (every 30 min) if you do not want to walk the 200 yards. The staff are super friendly and helpful. They have a full breakfast, although during COVID it was pretty basic. On a previous visit 2 years ago the breakfast included pancakes and bacon, assorted fruits and cereals and other breakfast items - hit the spot. The rooms are basic (there are no humidifiers - had to purchase my own), but adequate. Beds were clean and comfortable. The lobby has a large fireplace that adds character to the room. There is a business center (closed because of COVID). From the hotel it is about an 8 block walk to the downtown restaurant scene. The town of Ketchum has grown up since my first visit in 1973 - restaurants are solid. Our favorites were Town Tavern, Enoteca, Whiskey Jacques (basic burgers but good). We ate at Ketchum Grill. Good but not great. Overall a pleasant stay in a comfortable hotel. Will be returning.
The price was higher than usual, but after arriving, I was very pleased with the convenience of location (10 min walk to the Ski slopes, full breakfast included, 24x7 Coffee machine. easy walk to downtown and store. Definitely would stay here again. Staff was also very nice. Also there's a heated pool and a hottub that is outdoors. And a gameroom and gym and laundry room. Tons of amenities that make this place the perfect spot..
This hotel has been remodeled for comfort and updates - but it still has that old charm. The lobby is large with a welcoming fire - like a chalet. Free 24 hour high end coffee bar, great breakfast options, super comfy beds and pillows, and our room looked out at the mountain. Keep in mind, it does not have an elevator, so you have to trek your gear up to upper rooms, but worth the effort (and some early morning skiers tromping down). Great hot tub and heated winter pool, too. Walkable or a quick shuttle to both town and River Run lodge for skiing, I am so coming back!
A great place in Sun Valley that is economical, clean, and comfortable with a great older alpine atmosphere. The location for accessing the mountain and the downtown area is extremely convenient. We have stayed there a number of times and have never been disappointed. The employees and service are also truly great.
This place has parking lot that is big in size. Also, if you choose to stay here, you are close to downtown. Staffs are great. Rooms are clean. Only bad point, there were some wild guests who bothered other guests.
We have stayed here many times over the years. It's a great hotel. But I was quite disappointed to see Amanda at the front desk always had her mask below her nose every time I saw her at the front desk. She also didn't pull it up when talking to guests. In addition, the room cleaners did the same. The cleaners were quite behind and we didn't get into our room until well after check in. It's appalling that housekeeping was cleaning our room right before we entered and had been wearing their masks improperly. Masks go over the nose, not under. COVID-19 is not a disease caught from contacting surfaces. It lingers in the air for quite a while. We opened the windows when we arrived, we needed to look after our health, even if the Tyrolean staff don't bother to. It's a nice hotel, just know that the staff don't wear masks properly.
While the Tyrolean is older and the rooms are small, the beds are very comfortable with good sheets and down comforters. We stayed in a pet friendly room and enjoyed the staff. We did not use the pool or hot tub but those who dis really enjoyed it. Walking distance to River Run.
Very close proximity to Bald Mountain at an incredible price. Service was excellent. Very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was a bit limited due to COVID restrictions, but this will be my hotel of choice for future stays to ski Sun Valley.
Staff is over accommodating. True customer service. Cannot begin to tell you the amount of times the went above and beyond to make our trip great and memorable. Great family location. Will be going back as soon as I can.
The moment I walked into the lobby at this hotel and was greeted by Jerry, I knew I had made the right choice. The hotel is walking distance to the downtown area with shops and restaurants. It has a lovely lobby sitting area with a fireplace to enjoy a good book. With covid, they provide a remote check in for safety and order your breakfast online to pick up when you like. A model example of how hotels should operate at this time. Would definitely stay again.
This was my second trip to the Tyrolean Lodge - we went there 50 years ago on a spring break ski trip and again this year on the recommendation of a good friend who also recently stayed with his dog. Very friendly, clean, and one of the closest to the ski lifts. We walked to dinner downtown. The rooms are small but the beds are great. Their latte machine in the lobby is fantastic!
The Tyrolean Lodge is right across the street from the lifts. Great location. Walking distance to downtown dining/shopping, etc. The lodge is old. Not rundown - just tired. The beds are uncomfortable, and the bed size is not a Queen. It's either a full or double. Quite uncomfortable. Would not stay here again. Great for one night, or if you're only going to be in your room for sleep. No room for skis, luggage, etc. We only had a large duffel bag and 2 daypacks. No room for anything else. They were attentive to Corona protocols. Very helpful staff!
Everyone is adjusting to the pandemic in different ways - this was particularly true at the hotels we stayed in on our 4 week western US road trip. Since a hot breakfast buffet was no longer an option, this property set up an online ordering system for a hot breakfast. Each day we chose from several options via a website and the next day it was delivered to our front door. Very impressive. Yes, it was a simple breakfast but it was hot and at our front door daily. Their sophisticated coffee machine in the lobby was also great. The hotel also kept both their hot tub and pool open to a restricted number of simultaneous users. Many places we visited on our Covid trip simply closed their pools, hot tubs and stop offering breakfast. Best Western Tyrolean Lodge was a refreshing exception and provided us a lovely stay in Ketchum..
My stay at the Best Western Tyrolean Lodge was fine but I wouldn't stay again. The good: ++ Seem to be taking COVID seriously; room was very clean ++ Location is walkable to many restaurants in downtown Ketchum which was great ++ Dog friendly with a field right outside the door for a good off-leash dog exercise space ++ Comfortable bed The bad: ++ Our room was TINY. I've been in many Best Westerns and never had a room this small. We have one queen bed and basically no space besides that. After bringing in our bags and our dog, we could barely move around the room because all the floor space was full. ++ While I appreciate that they are bringing everyone breakfast during COVID times, the food was quite bad. Eggs clearly are dehyrated. Breakfast was free but we ended up going and getting food elsewhere after the first day of BW food.
This was a great hotel to stay at. It was near resturants and easy to get too. The staff was friendly and everything was extra clean. Liked the breakfast options. The overall stay was great. I'll be back. Thanks again, Daryl R.
We made a reservation from Winnemucca, not knowing what to expect. We were not disappointed. All of the desk agents were friendly and very helpful with suggestions, directions, etc. The room was clean and well appointed. The beds were comfortable. The pillows were not to our liking, but that was a minor problem. Ask for a room with a view of Bald Mountain. The view is spectacular. The Lodge is within walking distance of downtown Ketchum. We walked into town a couple of times to eat and explore.
This is quite a historic, an old hotel it appears. The beds slept well. They had an orderable breakfast delivered to the room because of COVID. That is making lemonade from lemons. The only drawback is no elevator and a long stairs to haul your stuff up.
The property and the room were very clean. The beds were very comfortable and we really liked the deck area. We also used the pool and hot tub and both were clean. The breakfast options were excellent and we really appreciated the delivery to our room. We also liked the coffee options. Disliked · I asked for chairs to use on the deck but the request was denied. There was a sitting area with a BBQ grill but we weren't allowed to use that area either. It appears that the hotel guests are treated differently based on which room you have. I didn't like that.
Although not the least expensive place to stay, it was comfortable, well-maintained and located in a more quite area of town, but still close enough to walk places. They way guests could order their hot breakfast items and have them delivered to the room was excellent - as was the food. Be aware, there is no elevator if you end up on the 3rd floor with lots of luggage!
This hotel is in a quiet location on the outskirts of Ketchum, with a nice view of a ski hill and a meadow. I'd recommend getting a mountain view room. Staff was truly exceptional, from the check in to housekeeping. Excellent coronavirus precautions were taken and the complimentary room service breakfast was exceptional.
BWTyrolean is Alps-themed, beautiful floral arrangements adorn outside. Safe, clean, friendly accomodations with all you need. Two blocks off the Main road thru Ketchum/SunValley, so it's quiet but easy bike ride or walk to Big Wood River paved trail, we rode 23 miles to Hailey and back. Sun Valley ski resort base is right there, multiple access points to the river side. Roundhouse Gondola Express ride to the top of Bald Mountain not to be missed, had delicious lunch sandwiches of turkey and brie with lingonberry mayo, and smoked salmon BLT, along with iced bevies. Staf there very attentive, friendly, cordial. Dinner highlights were The Grill at Knob Hill, Despos Mexican food (with attitude!). The owner came to our table to engage in friendly chat, excellent chicken and carne asada burritos served enchilada style. Last evening roof top dining at Warfield Brewery and distillery, be hungry because the portions are huge, save room for a flight of their beers. Breakfast at Java with cold brew coffee and breakfast croissant. People watch: locals and most visitors are lean and fit outdoor athletes, a much different demographic then we have in Sandy, Utah. Go, stay, enjoy!
We have stayed at this hotel a few times. The building is a little dated but well maintained and charming; the rooms are updated, clean and comfortable. The pool and hot tub were also recently refurbished. The best thing of all is the Staff. They were very accomodating and handled all the procedures put in place due to coronavirus concerns flawlessly-and breakfast was great as usual!
The only reason this isn't a 5 star rating is because of issues that we had with other guests, and totally out of control of the hotel and staff. Considering all the modifications required due to the current Covid, the staff did an amazing job! We checked in to have an immediate issue with a barking dog in a nearby room. Brooklynne had zero hesitation in finding us a new room, as well as upgraded us; which was totally unnecessary but appreciated. Unfortunately we also had noise issues affecting our sleep with a large group in the room above us, but that can happen anywhere, and we didn't bring that to anybody's attention. We should have selected a room on the top floor, so that's on us, not the hotel. Breakfast had to be ordered online ahead of time (due to health concerns), and they did an excellent job in making that happen. Tough times for staff, but they came through!
Older Swiss Chalet style hotel thats been updated. It is one bus stop away from the River Run area of Sun Valley and very convenient. Our room was clean, quiet and very comfortable. The front desk personel were great. The breakfast was very good with multiple selections of both hot and cold options.
I have stayed at the Tyrolean numerous times over the years. It was recommended to my by my best friend. The staff has always accommodated our requests and answered our questions. The breakfast contains a variety of fresh fruit, yogourt, and juice. The hot selection is always fresh and good. The rooms are modern, updated with a very comfortable bed. A great place to stay!
This is an older building with narrow hallways but it seems to be well-maintained, is clean and quiet. The price is very good for a ski town in the high season. Breakfast is included with your room and is a good breakfast buffet. One morning there was an odd occurrence, there was a sign posted saying they were out of milk on the breakfast buffet. Common sense should have sent an employee running a few blocks to the grocery store to pick up some milk so that apologies would not be needed for running out of milk. Common sense is not as common as you might think. If you get a "mountain view" room you look out the front of the building to the ski area parking lot and the base of the mountain. You also have a small balcony out front. We had a second-floor room which I liked but there are no elevators so be sure you are up to carrying your luggage up the stairs. I think this hotel is the closest to the ski area of any hotel. It's probably a five-minute walk, but it was easier to wait at the bus stop in front of the hotel and catch the free bus that passes about every 10-15 minutes. It's about a 1-minute bus ride. It works the same way in reverse when it's time to come back. The buses in Ketchum are free and you can easily catch the bus to all the popular spots.
We recently spent 3 nights at the Best Western Tyrolean and loved the whole experience. We were shocked at what great value this hotel was and the location is absolutely ideal, across the parking lot from the base of Sun Valley. Breakfast was awesome, the service was stellar and the bed was very comfortable. My only complaint is that the Wifi connection was not secure and I had to go elsewhere to send some confidential info.
I was able to take my children and grandchildren for a pre-Christmas vacation in Ketchum, Idaho and we had such a wonderful time. The Best Western Tyrolean Lodge was a great Oasis for us with a wonderful breakfast, heated pool and hot tub. My daughter and her husband were able to bring their yellow lab and it all worked so well. There was a game room that my grandsons loved and the breakfast was out of this world. It is such a beautiful area and the magic of Sun Valley is only 5 minutes away.
Last trip to Ketchum, we stayed in the Kentwood Lodge, so this trip we chose the Tyrolean Lodge. If you are skiers, it's right next to the mountain. It is a further walk up to Main street, so it takes 8 minutes longer to walk to shops and restaurants. We were traveling with the kids this trip, so the hot tub & game room at the Tyrolean Lodge was a plus. The room we had was small and older and the beds were not comfortable at all. The staff was very helpful and friendly.
Beautiful lodge with terrific full breakfast included in room rate, fitness center and game room, pool, fireplaces, private computer room, coffee/cappucino/latte machine in lobby. Beautiful view of the area and balcony off your upstairs room. We will definitely go back !
We keep coming back to The Tyrolean Lodge because we like the location, the relaxing lobby with its welcoming fireplace and game boards, the mountain view, easy parking, game room with ping pong, air hockey, and foosball tables, comfy pillows, and terrific breakfast. Their breakfast is absolutely amazing with a large selection of sweet and savory items. The rooms are not fancy or trendy and there is no elevator in this quaint and quirky property but it is an excellent value in this pricey tourist area. We have been lucky every time we have stayed and our fellow guests have been quiet and respectful of others.
This property was great, with an incredibly friendly staff and clean room. The room itself wasn't overly huge, but had a fridge, flatscreen TV, wardrobe, comfortable bed, and plenty of plugs accessible from everywhere. The bathroom wasn't huge, either, but the shower was fantastic, as it was simply a step-in, tiled shower (no tub). We walked into the center of town in less than 10 minutes, but note that one member of our group is a dog who likes to stop and sniff everything. Without a dog it would probably take 4-5 minutes. Breakfast was a nice variety, which is fairly standard for a Best Western. But one notable area that stood out as exceptional was this hotel had very, VERY little in the way of disposable packaging in the breakfast room. The plates, silverware, mugs, glasses, etc., were all "real," as opposed to throwaway, and they had taken great measures to reduce waste by eliminating a lot of single-use packaging normally seen in these settings. It was very refreshing and I wish more hotels were as conscientious. Thank you to the individual(s) who initiated and implemented this. Overall, we would definitely stay here again.
I always stay at this hotel when I am in town. It's away from the road noise on main Street and close to skiing or hiking trails. The staff is always friendly. I love sitting outside in the hot tub looking at the mountain view
Warm, friendly and efficient staff, great location near the foot of Baldy Mountain and walking distance to the bike and cycle path and just a few hundred meters to downtown Ketchum. Very fresh, varied and tasty breakfast.
We had a room on the second floor. When we checked in Jerry asked if we would like help with our luggage. We should have said yes. Two flights of fairly steep stairs. After taking up a load, I went down on the other end of the building. Only one flight of stairs, but still fairly steep. So be forwarned, those of you with bad knees or heavy luggage. We had a comfortable room with a king bed, mini fridge, chair and desk with chair. The TV and WiFi worked well. There is a balcony that runs the length of the building that anyone with a room on that side can access and walk along. Jerry was very friendly and helpful. He even called the room to see how we liked it. We didn't try the breakfast, opting instead to go to The Kneadery.
We stayed here for 2 nights as we had to attend a wedding in the area. The hotel staff is very welcoming, friendly and attentive. The hotel itself is older but seems to be well maintained. We had a room with two queen beds overlooking the parking area and mountains beyond. The beds were fairly comfortable however the walls were paper thin.. we could easily hear conversations in the adjacent rooms. The bathroom was clean but we joked we've had larger ones on cruise cabins. The complimentary breakfast which was included in the room price was very good. Overall we had a nice stay in a decent hotel in a beautiful setting.
I would recommend this Hotel to anyone that just wanted to get away. If cis an be there with Jerry taking care of you, then you will have Great Customer Service. Most of the rest of the Staff is also Very Good, but Jerry is a 12 on a Scale of 1 to 10!
The view of Baldy is amazing. The staff was kind and the fancy espresso machine was a treat. Did not have time to try the amenities but the pool looked lovely. Would stay again ... very close to down town.
Be aware, this hotel offers no elevators so it is best to Pack Light. It is a good location, close to town and with a great view of the mountains. Another thing to be aware of is it is pet-friendly, personally I like dogs but not everyone does and we did encounter several during our stay. He use of real dishes and flatware in the breakfast area was greatly appreciated and the food was good with a usual variety offered by hotel chains.
Maybe this place isn't for everyone, but the location was perfect for our stay. The staff was terrific. The exterior reflects its origins, but the rooms are freshly updated with quality upgrades. The lobby is very comfortable and well appointed with lots of nice additions like games. It was super quiet.
Great location, quiet, scenic surroundings and walking distance to downtown. Really nice amenities. Good value for the money. Staff takes really good care of the guests and truly are interested in our needs.
similar to other Best Western properties, dated but clean, good response from staff..good breakfast selection..convenient refrigerator in room, exercise room and pool available..entry to hotel and access to rooms includes a few stairs
The hotel is about 50 years old but you'd never know it from the way it is maintained and modernized. Service is very good at check in and breakfast. Plenty of parking. One can walk to local restaurants in abut five minutes.
This hotel felt just like being home. The staff was as friendly, helpful and welcoming as any I've had the pleasure to deal with. And the views are stunning from the mountain side. I would definitely stay there again.
The Tyrolean Lodge in Ketchum is by far the best value hotel you will find in the Sun Valley area. I've staid at the Tyrolean several times over the last ten years and always really enjoy the experience. The location is excellent, in town, but tucked away in a quiet spot with great views of Baldy, the primary ski mountain. The hotel is equipped with everything a traveling family might want - very comfortable rooms, a generous and high quality breakfast, game room, fitness center, high speed internet, business center, pool and laundry. What's more, the staff is very friendly and helpful and all staff are informed and capable. Brooke was especially kind and helpful to our family on our stay, making sure that we had a very nice room and helping to store our luggage when we went on a backpacking trip during our stay. We will always return to the Tyrolean when visiting Ketchum. It's high quality service and local charm simply can't be beat.
A great hotel to stay in Ketchum. The views of Bald mountain are well worth the stay. I also saw many people able to bring their dogs in the hotel as well. Friendly staff. Delicious breakfast. Walkable to the center of Ketchum in 5 minutes and to the Visitor's Center in 10.
The hotel is of an old school ski dormitory design and we could hear everything that went on in every room of the hotel beginning at 6:30 AM. The location was great and the rest of the hotel was nice, but I would never return.
I really liked this hotel. The area was peaceful and quiet, yet it was close to town. The hotel was clean, and the beds comfortable. The AC worked well, and the internet was good. Jerry was nice and called our room in the evening to make sure everything was okay. The pool is small, but it is warm and a good place to relax. I would also highly recommend the breakfast. My only caution would have to do with the laundry. It is coin op, but there is no change machine, and the hotel did not have quarters. They had been out since the weekend (we arrived late on a Monday afternoon), and even though the desk staff knew this, they did not go to the bank to get more. They were not too helpful in trying to help me problem-solve how to get my laundry done after three days of camping and hiking. Other than that, I have no complaints about this hotel and had a comfortable stay.
Wonderful Best Western. Great Locatio . Very helpful employees. Had the best breakfast at this Best Western hotel in the USA. Regular scrambled eggs with sausage patties, sausage gravy. Waffles. Plus a very good selection of fresh fruits, blue berries. Melon, water melon, sliced peaches and black berries. Also oranges and bananas. Also the usual yogurts, fresh yogurt, bagels, muffins and sweets. To many items to remember them all. The second morning there was thick sliced ham and large sausages. A feast. My room was lovely with a huge screen TV.
I was hesitant..... but inevitably so happy I came here. The rooms are classy, and the staff is extremely hospitable. I know everyone has a choice in hotels here. I'm sure glad that my decision was made for this place. Enjoy.
This is a delightful older facility, two story walk up, but so worth the effort! Looking out up to the ski lift where snow was still visible on our June visit was precious. The breakfast room is complete and everything was delicious. Rooms are older but very nice, clean and comfortable!
Location of the hotel is very good, within walking distance of town but in a quiet area. The hotel looks like a building in Austria. The lobby is very cozy and welcoming, with comfortable chairs. Front desk staff and all staff are very friendly and helpful. The room was nice. Breakfast was great. They had porcelain mugs and real (not plastic) silverware, both nicer and better for the environment. I recommend this hotel!
Two guys at front desk were professional & friendly. Instantly felt welcome here. Original lodge was built in 40s (?) And has been updated nicely. Rooms are quiet & cozy - good for a restful night of sleep. Location is great... convenient to shops but not on the main drag. Breakfast is nice (included in price of room). If you have physical limitations, choose main floor - no elevator due to the way lodge was originally built.
We've been coming here for 25 years. It is authentic, no frills, totally family friendly, with great service. This is Sun Valley before it was "discovered". If you want access to skiing, hiking, biking, beautiful views and are here to be in the beautiful Wood River Valley and not for a spa date, come here. This is not your homogeneous all-inclusive, it is an authentic experience for those who love the outdoors!
Close to everything, nice rooms/beds, pool and hot tub are nice and they give you a breakfast/lunch coupon for each adult to a spot close by. Overall good experience and recommend it to anyone staying in the area
As a former 22 year resident of Ketchum and now a frequent visitor, I want to give you some local insight into 'The Tyrolean'. It was built in 1966 in the sweetest spot in the valley (next to Baldy in the heart of Ketchum), by young Austrian immigrant Joe Koenig. Joe designed and operated it in the style of a European inn with quality service and hospitality. Today these elements are still present, including - a friendly staff who provide personal assistance, local tips, and guidance - a large comfortable sitting room with great fireplace and view of Baldy - an excellent buffet breakfast with hot eggs and meats, biscuits, waffles, fruit, sauces, yogurt, cereals, breads, and more I normally don't share information about the special places I know, so that's all I'm gonna say :)
Nice Clean and easy to deal with staff. Room was nice and clean. Quiet location and close to the resorts.I will stay there again. Breakfast was great, plentiful, fresh fruit was awesome. Lots of great hot coffee. The ice machine was hard to find, not a big deal.
Staying at the Tyrolean has worked great for a snowboarding trips. Nice and close to River Run lodge (within walking distance). We've stayed here several times over the years (even before they were remodeled.) Breakfast area and breakfast was good. Coffee machine in the lobby is nice, much better than the drip coffee option. I thought the BW cookies were lacking in freshness hard and dry (happened twice). Only the hot tub was open since it was winter.
My family arrived at this lodge after not having a good experience at a different lodge. The check-in person gave us a great greeting. They had fresh baked cookies out of the oven for hotel guests. We checked into our room that was nice and clean. Refrigerator and microwave were provided in the room. All the rooms have a shared balcony. The check-in person called us to ensure the room is to our satisfactory. The lodge had a game room and fitness room. Our kids enjoyed the game room. They also enjoyed the lobby with couches that had board games and puzzles for them to play. The hotel also offered free coffee or hot chocolate from a machine during all times of the day. The breakfast was freshly cooked. They also offered almond milk which is always a plus. When we left the hotel, they gave us a gift bag with water. The exterior of the hotel looks like a lodge you may find in the Alps. I saw some guests taking pictures of the outside since it is a cute exterior. The hotel appears to be near the ski-lifts even though we don't ski. There are no elevators. I'm assuming ADA accessibility is on the lower floor. We had a very pleasant time Best Western Tyrolean Lodge offers what a hotel / lodge always should offer for hospitality. We highly recommend staying at this lodge.
The people in the hotel were so accommodating and nice, it made everything really fun. We were there for the Sun Valley Summer Symphony, and that never disappoints. The weather was great, so the hiking was wonderful and the exploring of the area was wonderful.
Excellent people! Cat and Jerry are exceptional. The decor, views and service were really above and beyond my expectations for the price. Easy walk from everything, help with directions and transport, fresh cookies, free smiles and the best breakfasts (included!!!). I really loved the energy and even when I arrived after 11 pm....Jerry was all smiles. Cat is so helpful and kind! I had never met her but loved her so much over the phone that I brought her gifts from Canada and told her to visit me anytime. Big fireplace downstairs, heated pool and jacuzzi, free hot chocolate and popcorn in the rooms. Really was above and beyond what I expected. Honestly....really really great experience. Thank you so much guys! Cat and Jerry...big hugs! :-)))
We arrived at this property chagrined that it had no elevator to the second floor. The check-in clerk, Kat, cheerfully volunteered to carry our bags up a flight of stairs. We were more than grateful. After departing, we realized that my wife had left a jacket behind in our room. We telephoned and spoke to Brooke. She said she could look for it, but not today, tomorrow. Twenty minutes later, she called, having found the jacket and putting it in the mail. That's outstanding service.
Clean room with comfortable beds. Lots of table space and wall-charging plugs. Hot beverages available all day in the lobby. Laundry room. Breakfast included ham and corned beef aside from regular continental fare. No luggage trolleys and a few steps in front of the building. Handicap access is away from the main entrance. Very polite staff.
The staff went out of their way to make our stay a wonderful surprise for my spouse's birthday! Also, we never travel without our dogs and this Best Western is extremely pet friendly! Loved it! I would highly recommend this Best Western!
We travel coast to coast several times a year and the Tyrolean Lodge has become our favorite. Location within Ketchum, breakfast and overall value can't be beat. Plus the front desk staff is the best.
Great hotel! Rooms are clean and comfortable, amazing views of River Run ski hill, nice and quiet location. Amazing breakfast layout! Always a gem on the edge of town. Can't wait for my next trip to Ketchum!
Comfy beds, clean, helpful staff. Breakfast offered many options. Quiet area. Reservation done on line, no problems with check in or reservations. Grounds nice, nothing fancy but a great bargain for traveling on a budget.
Great place to stay. Super breakfast and very helpful staff. Room was very clean and we even enjoy playing air hockey in the game room. Would definitely say at this hotel again if we are ever in the area.
This is a great place to stay if you are skiing Sun Valley. It's a short walk (5 minutes) from the hotel to the lifts at River Run. Or you can drive or take a bus that runs every 15 minutes. The breakfast is great. The great room has a huge fireplace, comfy chairs and good coffee. There is a games room and laundry downstairs. The rooms are just fine. Main Street Ketchum is about 5 blocks. The hotel is very convenient and a great value.
Comfortable beds, quiet place to stay, great price and you can walk to down-town. Staff is wonderful and very nice clean place to stay. Love the lobby and the fireplace in the dining room. I would highly recommend this hotel.
Conveniently located hotel with a friendly and knowledgeable staff, close to downtown Ketchum that is walking distance the base of Mt. Baldy with public transportation just outside your door. I look forward to visiting the Tyrolean again.
The hotel has a great location in downtown Ketchum and the continental breakfast was amazing, complete with eggs, bacon, waffles, breakfast burritos, oatmeal and an amazing fruit bar with fresh berries every morning.
Loved that the Tyrolean Lodge was one of the first hotels in Sun Valley. We enjoyed the old charm. The staff were kind and attentive. The breakfast was great with many choices including many kinds of fresh fruit, whipped cream, nutella, yogurt, oatmeal with many toppings, hot foods (eggs, breakfast meats, etc), waffles, baked goods, etc... Kids loved the outdoor pool (82 degrees) and my husband enjoyed the hot tub after skiing. Kids also loved the game room with ping pong, air hockey and Foosball. The fireplace in the common area was nice as was the large selection of games and puzzles. My son is insistent that I add a note about the warm welcome with the warm cookies at the check in desk :)
We stayed here 25 years ago. Came back for nostalgia. Although it had been updated and the location can't be beat for skiers. Breakfast wasn't bad and nice when you want to hit the slopes. Bed was comfy enough. It's a lot of money for a lower end place. $255/ my was our rate. The floors are now wood, however they are so slick in socks you have to be careful not to fall. Our floor was so slanted we rolled a coke can. It went flying across the room. And they don't keep the parking lot cleared enough for parking. Thanks for the memories. We will stay somewhere else next time.
A friend and I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights in late January, 2018. Its most important attribute is proximity to the River Run lifts on Mount Baldy. It is not ski in ski out, but it is a one minute walk to the bus (free) that runs every 15 min. The rooms are comfortable and have been updated within the past 3-4 years. One downside is the lack of insulation to reduce the noise from the rooms above. They had a full breakfast with egs, bacon, sausage, freshly baked biscuits, bagels, yogurt, fruit, and excellent coffee. The hotel is approximately 7 blocks from the downtown main street restaurants. We timed our reservations for 6:30 PM to catch the last bus (free) into town and we walked back to the hotel after dinner. The lobby has a fireplace with a roaring fire during the day. There is an exercise room that we did not use. The staff at the hotel were very helpful. For a relatively low budget skiing hotel, it had location, good breakfast and a warm sense of hospitality.
The Tyrolean Inn in Ketchum, Idaho is a fantastic lodge to stay. The decor of the Inn, its location to the ski hill and town (walking distance), the cost of the room, the full breakfast, and hot tub were all wonderful. A really friendly and professional staff.
Firstly the customer service by the gentleman that checked us in was better than you get at a lot of high end hotels! He really was great. The hotel is great, very clean and comfortable. We stayed there as they are very dog friendly hotel and recommended by our vets practice. My only negative was the floors are so crazily slippery in the dog friendly rooms, that we were slipping walking, and our poor dog who was in sun valley for knee surgery was having a really tough time. They are kind enough to offer a rubber mat to help with this, which it does for part of the room. I was bummed, the hotel was pretty much perfect for what we needed, but unfortunately could not stay there again due to the extremely slippery floors in the pet rooms.
Great spot if you are skiing at Sun Valley. We walk across the parking lot, and our car is parked all weekend. WE loved the hot breakfast every morning and the outdoor pool and hot tub are nice as well.
Excellent location for ski resort....we could make it to the River Lodge in 3 mins by bus. 3 blocks walking distance to Main Street & plenty of great restaurants!! Staff was very on top of everything. They were friendly & very helpful. We enjoyed the jacuzzi too!!
Very convenient for skiing at Sun Valley. The shuttle stop was right in front of the hotel. It had the best breakfast we have ever had at a hotel. It snowed everyday we were there, and every morning our car was cleaned off.
We stayed three night to ski in Sun Valley. Accomodations were very good, breakfasts were especially good. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Great place to stay to ski since it is 2 minutes from lift.
Bait and switch with room rates. I made reservations in April and on checking in now in December they would not honor the reservation. They claimed I called and cancelled-NO truth to that . 4 Rooms for 6 nights each cost me 30% more than my contract. Stipulated
Great location and staff! My favorite place to staywhen in town. Pet friendly, nice hot tub, good warm breakfast, comfy beds, fabulous views. However was much pricer than previous stays. Probably bc of the holiday season.
We stayed here a few years ago and remembered how nice it was then. We were just as impressed this time as we were before. The staff was friendly and helpful and the room was very clean. A great nights rest and relaxation. Well worth the price to stay here.
One of the nicest Best Westerns I have stayed in. High quality breakfast and very pet friendly. Staff was super awesome and helpful, got a free room upgrade. Hot tub was the perfect temp. Will be back!
The exterior was charming. Check in was a breeze and I believe this was the most comfortable hotel bed I've ever slept in. The Breakfast buffet was full of choices and they were all good. I would definitely stay at the Tyrolean Lodge again.
Best staff, professional and friendly. never had a better breakfast at a BW. I'm a Diamond member and truly believe this is of the best I've stayed in. updated rooms, nice towels, comfortable beds. Great Spot.
On a lark, I took a flight to Hailey and managed to get a room here as it's favorite. Not only was the entire staff friendly and accommodating as ever, but the rooms have been updated! I was delighted to stay in 265, and it was like staying at home, with nicer amenities. What a shower! Great view, great room, then the breakfast was fantastic! I didn't think that anything needed changed from before, but wow! Thank you everyone at the Tyrolean! I'll be back with friends and family!
Great Staff !!!! My guest agent ,Cat , made changes quickly and without complaint. Terrible stairs. No elevators, no microwaves in the rooms. The breakfast was nice. and the chef amiable. The rooms were old smelling and the bed was comfortable.
The Best Western Tyrolean Lodge was clean and convenient. The staff was friendly and informative. The property does show its age. I really can't say much more. Really, I can't say much more. I'm not kidding, I really can't say much more
Went for just a quick overnight stay, and was very pleased with the accommodations. The breakfast was way better than I thought it would be, and would recommend this place. From other reviews, there is no elevator, but I did not need one so cannot say if there is one or not, but if you do, you may want to make sure this is known before you book your room to make sure this won't be an issue when you arrive.
The Best Western Tyrolean Lodge is Sun Valley, Idaho's traditional vacation getaway experience. Located just a short distance (a few blocks) from downtown Ketchum, Idaho, the Lodge is strategically located at the base of the famous Mt. Baldy (within walking distance of the ski lifts) for both winter skiing or summer hiking. Built in the style of a traditional Austrian Alps Tyrolean lodge, this Sun Valley gem has everything to accommodate any occasion from a business trip to a full family holiday vacation. The Lodge staff is friendly and helpful, but most important, they are knowledgeable about the history and tradition of the Sun Valley/Ketchum, Idaho area and the best places for recreation, dining, local events and entertainment. Ernest Hemingway put Ketchum, Idaho and Sun Valley on the map, and his legacy as a novelist, writer and journalist lives on in this beautiful mountain valley setting he loved so dearly and called home. The Best Western Tyrolean Lodge is just a short drive from the famous Sun Valley Village where you will find shops, restaurants, ski and bicycle rentals and a walking path to the Hemingway memorial. The Best Western Tyrolean Lodge Room rates, which include both mountain view rooms and suites, are reasonably priced to seasonal activities and events compared to other Sun Valley venues including the Sun Valley Lodge. Be sure to make reservations well in advance for the best rate on a preferred room or suite. Complementary full/hot or Continental breakfast is included. Outdoor pool and hot tub. Recreation/fitness room. Games for kids. Pets welcome. Quick access to hiking trails and ski lift which runs both winter and summer. Comfortable, cozy lobby sitting area for friendly conversation or quiet reading, complementary coffee, and the most amazing barista machine I've ever see. If you're looking for overpriced, over-designed, ostentatious big city style resort accommodations look elsewhere. If you're looking for a taste of tradition and a unique western travel destination accommodation experience go to Sun Valley/Ketchum Idaho's traditional Best Western Tyrolean Lodge once and you will come back again. And again. Book through Best Western Tyrolean Lodge or call direct at (208) 726-5336.
We needed special accommodations because of a disability, so we worked directly with the hotel staff Dee and Brooklynne. They were great! Brooklynne went out of her many times to ensure everything was taken care of. Every employee we encountered was friendly and helpful. The hot breakfast was very good, with more fresh fruit than I have ever seen at a hotel. And the location was perfect. It was quiet with a beautiful view of the mountains, yet still within walking distance of anywhere we wanted to go in town. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a great value, just looking for a quiet place to relax, or needing a special touch. The exceptional employees at the Best Western Tyrolean Lodge will go above and beyond to ensure you get what you need.
No elevators. Older decor in the hotel. Breakfast was good. Good price for that area of the world. Beautiful ski area (Sun Valley), quaint town, many good activities and scenenery in the area. Nice for a road trip but the hotel is worn out!!
This is an old style motel that still has a taste of old Sun Valley. While most places try to be more modern the Tyrolean Inn keeps to the true feel of Sun Valley. Born and raised in Idaho I have visited Sun Valley many times in my life. I like the location and the staff. I prefer people who are naturally nice and not just paid to act like they like you. Great Place. Don't tell anybody.
Having read some reviews describing this place as old, we opted to stay at the other BW in town for our first two nights. That was a mistake. On our back through town, we stayed at the Tyrolean Lodge and loved it. Very friendly, clean, and comfortable. Yes, it's old, but that's charm. And yes, it's a few extra blocks from town, but that's not a big deal. The included breakfast was nice, with lots of fresh fruit in addition to the usual stuff. Definitely the place to stay.
Nice facility, good location easy walking distance to shops and restaurants. Breakfast very good. Staff were friendly and accommodating when we checked in, but different person at reception when we checked out responded defensively to our concern that the sheets had a strong cigarette odor. She insisted that was impossible because no one smokes there. We weren't trying to extract any compensation out of them, just make them aware of the problem. A simple, "I'm so sorry" or "I'll speak with housekeeping about that" or even, "Thank you for letting me know" would have been preferable to implying that we were making it up. Ended a nice stay unpleasantly.
Love this pet friendly hotel! They specify walks available to you and your dogs, they have dog biscuits on request at the front desk. They are extremely friendly and helpful! They even have water bowls for for dogs if you forget one.
The staff was very freindly and willing to help in amy way possible. We stayed in a room with a king sized bed and a view of the ski resort. The hotel was not in the center of town, but close enough to all restaurants.
My wife and I have been coming here for nearly ten years for ease of access to River Run. It's an easy walk to town, yet not smack in the middle of town- away from all the road noise. The views from the pool deck and patios are fantastic. To be fair, this is not a high concept luxury hotel, rather a supremely adequate base camp for enjoying all the valley has to offer. End note: the manager made travel bags with juices, snacks, and coloring packs for all the kids checking out, just because they're awesome and kind like that!
Stayed here many years ago and does not disappoint. In walking distance to town, front room have great view of mountains. Breakfast is good, beds comfortable, good place to stay for a few nights. I am not in favor that dogs are allowed to stay in rooms, I observed dogs pooping on lawn and not being picked up,
Great location. A very nice hotel. The room was neat and clean. The breakfast was good. We stayed here when there was a big convention in town so the price was higher than normal. I would stay there again.
We cut short our stay in Twin Falls to head back into the mountains. Booked a mountain view room which was excellent, very clean and comfortable with a view with the wow factor. Breakfast has been mentioned many times in the reviews and I would concur it was excellent. All the staff were most accommodating and we managed to secure our room for a second night. Bit of a hiccup as the system had lost the second night booking but easily sorted, just over a busy checking in period, which was unfortunate. All done with the usual good grace and apologies. Thank you.
We had originally booked to stay in Bellevue. Glad we rethought that. Right at the base of Mt Baldy. We were happy with everything. Liked being in Ketchum. The field across the way was great for star gazing.
We arrived late into Ketchum and discovered this lovely Hotel, the rooms are clean, the beds comfortable, good speed WiFi and there is a heated outdoor pool and hot spa pool. So a great start then, but two things promted me to write this review, First the amazing breakfast which was the best included breakfast we have had since we arrived in America a month ago. Second was our reception host Cat, she could not do enough for us on arrival, just making things easy for two weary travellers.....we have been so impressed we stayed for another day. Lovely area, excellent hotel, excellent staff!
This hotel is old-school but quite comfortable and reasonably priced. We arrived too early for check in so Brooklynne, at the front desk, gave us a map and highlighted places to have lunch and some sights in the town. We ate at the pub she recommended which was great, and then we visited Ernest Hemingway's grave which we would not have known about. When we checked in we learned there was no elevator so the other woman at the front desk changed us to a lower floor. This is a quirky hotel, architecturally, but it has a story and it is easy to enjoy the accommodations. The breakfast was the best we have been to on our road trip. Hot foods, cereal, waffles etc, and the best fresh fruit with berries and melon etc. We would definitely stay here again.
The room was updated and clean and was your basic mid-range hotel room. They had HBO, which was great when unwinding in the evening. The beds were OK, but not super comfortable. The room amenities were great. The view from our room was meh. The staff was friendly and professional. The breakfast was very good and there was a lot of variety. The view from the breakfast room was fantastic. We had never been to this area and had a hard time finding this hotel and a place to eat after checking in. Information in the hotel room was OK, but not clue where the restaurants advertised there were, so we had to use our phones to get that information. Our party consisted of two adults. We were put in a room next to a bunch of kids who were screaming, pounding on the walls and running up and down the outside balcony until late at night. Not sure if the place was full or if it was just the luck of the draw, but it wasn't a pleasant stay.
Rooms clean and comfy. The service courteous and prompt. View of Mt. Baldy is awesome! The breakfast buffet is the best and broadest food selection in Idaho and the quality is unmatched, even the mellon's were ripe!
Older property, but remodeled. extremely clean. better than average breakfast. Will stay here again. Great place to stay for the price. Not in the middle of town, so no traffic noise. Can walk to the mountain.
We were totally impressed by this quaint old ski lodge motel. The rooms have been completely renovated with vinyl wood plank floors in the sleeping area and tile floors in the entry and bath. The room was very clean, odor free and very well maintained with a good shower and comfy bed. Small fridge in our room, no microwave. Fully equipped exercise room, nice game room and microwave downstairs. Saline outdoor pool, and non-saline hot tub. Beautiful large old gas fireplace in the lobby and another one in the inviting breakfast room. Breakfast consisted of everything...biscuits, gravy, eggs, bacon, sausage, waffles, fresh fruit and yogurt, steel cut oatmeal, other fresh fruits, breads and rolls...everything. All of this topped off with a warm, friendly staff and within walking distance to town! We would stay again.
There are two Best Westerns in Ketchum: one right on Main Street and the Tyolean on Third which is the last street before the mountain so is more remote, quiet, quant, although an older property vs. Main Street. A cut above the typical “ski lodge” with a roomy/homey relaxation room with fireplace and a well-above-average breakfast (sausage gravy/biscuits!). Staff is very personable and friendly.
We recently stayed here and found it to be clean and full of amenities. The game room, the workout room and the special coffee station were nice treats. The year-round outdoor heated pool looked nice although we didn't have time to use it. We hope to go back again in the winter.
Not bad, not great. I booked directly with Best Western, they didn't have hardly anyone staying there but they chose to put us in a dark room overlooking the VFW, I expect that when I'm booking with a third party at a deeply discounted rate but not at regular price booked directly with the hotel. Our bed was ok and breakfast was better than most.
Nice place, clean and in a very nice location next to the mountain with views of the ski slope. Breakfast buffet has a nice selection of hot and cold food.as well as a nice presentation and layout of the food. Clean breakfast eating area. Wifi service is strong. In true Tyrolean fashion the room was quaint, yet very clean. Bed was comfy not overly stiff and not spongy. This room served my overnight purpose. I woke up feeling great.
Stay at this place when visiting Sun Valley! It's clean, staff are very helpful, and the breakfast is amazing! And sooo close to ski lift too! Can't beat the price either. Comfortable and a fun game room for the kiddos!
I booked a room at the Tyrolean Lodge Best Western over spring break for a little getaway with my kids. It was recommended to me through a family member. I couldn't have been more pleased. The kids had a great time swimming in the clean and heated pool and the coffee machine was absolutely amazing. I was very happy with the continental breakfast every morning and the rooms were clean and room service was great. My kids loved the cookies that were set out at the front desk and the front desk attendant was so good to my kids. This was the most family-friendly motel that I've ever stayed at.
Location - within walking distance to River Run Lodge, or take the free Mountain shuttle bus that stops outside. Rooms - Two queen beds with a view of the mountain. Very clean and comfortable beds and bathrooms. Free wifi was good quality for using GoToMeeting. Storage room for ski equipment. Very friendly staff. Enjoyed the breakfast - waffle maker, yogurt, fresh berries and fruit. Hot breakfast biscuits, gravy, eggs, potatoes, and bacon or sausage available. Lobby was clean and comfortable with a large gas fireplace and games on the shelf. Top load washer and dryer worked well. The hot tub, pool and game room are great for families. Fresh baked chocolate chip cookies every afternoon. Quiet evenings - did not hear any noise other than the normal street noises. Would definitely recommend for families.
Really cozy cute hotel with great breakfast, great location close to slopes. We almost always try to stay here as we are so familiar with it. Not the newest place in town- but super convenient and very family friendly and I believe also pet friendly. Not sure about that.
Exceptional service. I am a Marriott Platinum Plus member and have high standards. This property was equal to any Marriott stay, my standard. Check-in was easy, room had a view of skiers, and the bed was very comfortable. Lots of water pressure and hot!
A dated but fun location to spend a night. The rooms were clean but not large. We used the outdoor hot tub but not the heated pool and enjoyed the soak while looking at Bald Mountain. The motel location is almost at the base of the ski resort so technically you can walk there in your ski boots; or you can take a shuttle that leaves every 15 minutes. The nights were quiet and we liked being able to utilize our balcony for viewing and fresh air. I will say that our initial front desk greeting was terrible. The female trainee needs A LOT of training on how to be customer focused!!! Breakfast was very adequate and covered all the food items that Americans have become accustomed to for good motel breakfasts. The Swiss/Austrian ski theme is throughout the motel. Not sure we'd return as we like to try new places but the Tyrolese Lodge met all of our needs at a reasonable price for Ketchum, ID.
The room and bathroom were nicely renovated and comfortable. Breakfast was included and very good including fresh fruit. The hotel is a 10 minute walk from the Sun Valley gondola, with a free town bus stop just outside the door. It is good value compared to similar class in the centre of Ketchum or to Sun Valley resort, but it is at least 5-10 minutes walk to any restaurant so a shuttle would have been appreciated; however, we noted that most of the guests had their own car. Internet perfect.
Professional, friendly staff. Great location to bus into Ketcham/walk and bus right outside. Plenty of parking as well. Older hotel, but clean and tidy. If you get noisy neighbors walls can be a little thin. Comfy beds. Dog-friendly and family friendly. Amentities - fresh breakfast, coffee machine, cookie time, nice fireplace area in lobby, game room, work-out room, hot tub and pool, washer dryer.
Excellent hotel. Great Value. Very clean, very helpful staff. The breakfast was fresh and good and a good selection. The bed was very comfortable. This is an older hotel that is in a great location. This has the old Sun Valley feel to it.
We returned to this welcoming hotel for the second time after a lovely stay last year. Our room was comfortable and quiet and very very clean. There is a cozy common room with a nice fireplace and comfy chairs. The breakfast area is fully stocked and offers views of the ski area, which is a very short bus ride from the stop located right at the end of the hotel driveway. The hotel is a great value in Ketchum, and is clearly a well managed property.
Caring staff, amazing attention to details. Best breakfast experience I have ever had in a hotel as they serve fresh fruit, fresh cooked oatmeal and even offer almond milk.! No big bottles of Nestle products! Thank you! Very comfortable beds and bedding.overall a top notch hotel and experience.
If you want a good place to stay at a reasonable rate try the Tyrolean Best Western Lodge. It is conveniently located and free parking. The free breakfasts are second to none. They have a hot or cold menu with fresh fruit The sausage was outstanding. The hospitality room was cozy with a fireplace. The personnel are efficient and courteous.
The hotel has been recently updated. It's right across the street from the free shuttle bus stop to the River Run lifts of Sun Valley, and only a 4 block walk to the beginning of Main Street shops and restaurants. Hot buffet breakfast with tons of selections, fresh baked cookies when you return from the slopes, and the hot tub is nice and hot! Plus, sitting in it at sunset looking up at the ski runs is a pretty nice way to recuperate after a day of shredding!
This place is wonderful—feels like a old European lodge and everyone is so friendly! The hot tub was perfect after skiing. Love this place and will be back. So convenient to everything both at the mountain and in Ketchum. Spectacular view off balcony
We brought along our new puppy. We only stayed for one night but wanted to go skiing as a family, so they watched our puppy at the front desk before the 3:00 check in while we skied. Very accommodating.
Last year's interior remodel looks great. Our two room accommodation was attractive and very comfortable. Sadly, the Tyrolean is removing the safes from each room which makes one uncomfortable having to leave valuables unprotected in the room while spending the day visiting the area. But that aside, the Tyrolean is still one of our favoites. All in all, a great experience.
Nice comfortable hotel just across the parking lot from Sun Valley Ski Resort. You can walk to the River Run lifts. The staff was nice and helpful. The room was comfortable. I recommend this hotel if staying in Ketchum.
nice place, good breakfast. close to very overpriced mtn. free shuttle bus goes by parking lot. staff was very nice. next room left tv up loud so dog would not bark, night mgr was so nice to get ahold of them to return and turn tv off in the middle of night. i'm sorry but I don't like dogs staying in the rooms .pool and hot tub outdoors.
Staff is terrific at this terrifically vintage ski lodge. Location to resort is perfect. Pool and hot tub great. Breakfast is better than average for continental breakfast. Rooms have great linens and pillows. Great value
This was a great place to stay for our family. We had fun in the Game Room playing ping pong, foos ball, and air hockey. In the Lobby, we enjoyed access to the Barista Express coffee machine and freshly baked cookies while playing card games and coloring next to the cozy fireplace. Even though it was cold outside, we braved the outdoor hot tub. Overall, it was a simple and relaxing stay.
Not only does the Lobby feature a spacious fireplace and comfortable seating, it was in use our entire stay! On a freezing morning, we relaxed in the outdoor spa, then we chowed on the the conplimentary breakfast. We loved our stay there, partly because it was our first visit to Sun Valley, our first Trailing of the Sheep, and we seriously fell in love with it all. Planning on 2018 now.
We were in Ketchum for 5 days and stayed at the Tyrolean for the duration. It's a hidden gem in Ketchum. My granddaughter had ski camp and had to be at the mountain everyday. The hotel is conveniently located about 1/2 mile from the River Run Lodge. The continental breakfast had a nice variety of food from which to choose. That made getting out to the mountain much easier in the morning. The room was clean. The bed and pillows were comfy. The work-out room and other guest facilities were nice. The staff was very courteous and helpful. They even helped us take our stuff to our room upon arrival. Overall, you can't beat this hotel for the price.
We received great service from all of the staff and the location is wonderful, however, in this modern day I wasn't expecting that the building is not up to the code of wheelchair accessibility... I'm not able to access the breakfast, the public restroom, the exercise room and who knows what else I (as a wheelchair user) was missing during our stay.
Great place to stay with dogs. They placed non skid rugs in the room prior to check-in and had treats ready. Very caring staff. The hotel has full hot breakfasts. It's close to downtown restaurants and a movie theater.
We always enjoy our stay at the Tyrolean Lodge. The hotel staff is always very nice and helpful. The breakfast is excellent. The hotel is clean and comfortable and has rooms with beautiful mountain views.
Customer service and breakfast was good. Everything else about this property was disappointing (no elevator, shared pool with two other condo/townhome complexes), no towels at the pool, pet smells, very loud noise from hallway and upper floors, DirectTV in our room didn't work for the first day of our trip, and more. Frustrating experience that we paid a premium for.
The BE Tyrolean is a great place to stay with a family they have a family suite that has a little kitchenette in it with a refrigerator microwave and a sink, it has 2 queen beds a sofa, a desk and very large flat screen tv, they have the continental breakfast from 7-10 am an outdoor pool, the Tyrolean is not very far from down town and a short drive to Sun Valley and the other resorts.
We have now stayed at the Best Western Tyrolean Lodge two times. Both times were during the summer in late July. Our lodging needs are for two adults and three children. The lodge offers rather generous sized rooms that they call the family rooms which will accommodate our family perfectly. Looking of our slider we have a view of the mountains and gondolas. The pool is welcoming and clean which is a bonus on a hot summer day. They offer a continental breakfast similar to other hotels which includes make-yourself-waffles and fresh fruit. While it is not in the middle of town or by the Sun Valley resort, it has ample parking and is still centrally located to many activities, restaurants and downtown Ketchum. The front staff is friendly and professional and I highly recommend this for families!
The photographs of this motel in the snow were alluring and many reviews were favorable. We were traveling with a dog so this may be a part of the problem, but we found this property to be tired and poorly maintained. We noted dirty carpet, both in the room and out, and our room smelled exactly like a dirty vacuum cleaner bag, extremely thin walls, the bathroom measured 5 ft. by 6 ft. and had room for only one person at a time, building so old that the floors are actually warped, narrow, dim halls, low ceilings, no trash cans for dog waste, very remote ice machine, and finally, a breakfast of low quality. Personnel were okay. We left a day early and would not stay again.
This older hotel is nicely updated with attractively decorated rooms and comfortable beds with plush bedding. Hotel is located off the beaten path with a beautiful view of the mountains. Everything was perfect.
I spent a weekend here with my daughter while we toured the area and did some hiking. It is on the edge of town so it was quiet (and less expensive). It was still an easy walk into town for dinner (in October anyway). Our room had a nice mountainview. The wi-fi was decent. The staff were great. They have freshly baked cookies at the desk when you arrive. There is a great coffee/hot beverage machine available 24/7 in the lobby. They have laundry facilities. There was always a fire in the breakfast room. We had planned a one night stay but turned it into two. The room was comfortable. You do get noise from neighbors but that is easily solved with earplugs! Think of a stay hear like a pair of warm fuzzy slippers - it's not a fashion statement but it sure was comfy.
The lodge has an amazing mountain backdrop in a quaint, rural Idaho town. The bed and linens (including the pillows) are comfy and the room was clean. The room, though, is pretty small and the modern bathroom is very small. Breakfast is standard continental fare, which includes a few hot selections in warming trays. Because Ketchum is a rural town, there is hardly any street noise to ruin a good night's sleep; unfortunately, however, the hotel's walls are thin and poorly insulated from the internal hotel noises of neighbors beside or above you or guests in the hallway. Our room was next to the ice machine and the stairs, and both created considerable noise. We like the location of the hotel because the area is poised to become a Dark Sky Reserve, which means the night sky is lit up like a planetarium — amazing. The hotel also served us well as a home base for visiting the sand dunes, twin falls, and Craters of the Moon. Bottom line: standard middle-of-the-road hotel in a good location, but if you're a light sleeper, or just don't want to listen to your neighbors, beware.
Spent one night in Ketchum-Sun Valley to just sightsee. My wife stayed in this hotel 40 years ago, and it still looks the same! Well cared for and friendly staff. Odd layout, with stairs in odd places, but no problem for us. Great value!
Very helpful staff, great breakfast, and easy to use amenities. A bit run-down, but the room was immaculate, the lobby and breakfast areas very nice. I would stay here again in Ketchum, hands down. Convenient to town, and to the fishing,
I stayed at the Tyrolean Lodge while attending a conference in Sun Valley. The hotel suite was more than adequate and modern. The complimentary breakfast was better than most. Above all, the room was quiet, which is important to me. Upon check out at 4:30 am, the front desk attendant was pleasant despite that I woke her outside of normal desk hours. The only concern was the room rate - a bit high for a business trip.
A little piece of Switzerland in Idaho. What a find. It beats Sun Valley. We were so delighted to have found this little gem. Everyone associated with this property is phenomenal. One of our party is slightly handicapped and they found a room, right on the first floor. Perfect! There were many qualities that made this "INN" spectacular, aside from the fact the staff was so great,..#1..a clean, refreshed, packed in a little sleeve, TV remote. Anyone who travels and who reads knows that TV remotes are filthy and they should be sanitized before using, (which we always do) this hotel not only sanitized them, but packaged them in their own protective sleeve. Not even the RITZ does that. Their lobby is large and warm and welcoming with a huge fireplace that is kept going for as long as you wish, even if someone is sitting there at 1 a.m. because for what ever reason, they cannot sleep. The furnishing are beautiful and comfortable. You feel as if you were sitting in your own home. There is a game table and plenty of games to choose from. #2 Now, the best, which you will not find anywhere else is the espresso machine. I don't mean these superficial espresso machines you find in convenience stores - this was the real thing. The coffee beans were ground fresh. and the nicest thing about this amenity...complimentary! Next to the lobby was a sitting room with computer and two wingback chairs, where one could check on their emails or reports, weather, etc. Complete with printer, that worked. The master innkeeper was a magnificent retriever named Gunner. Gunner belonged to the GM and Gunner was absolutely a delight. As it turned out, and we were certainly lucky. We were snowed in and had to stay an extra day - no problem, just more visits with Gunnar and more espresso. Their breakfast room was upstairs also with a large fireplace. Nice and welcoming. As anyone reading this can tell, not only was I sold a million percent on this little Swiss Inn but so was my family. Whatever the management is doing, keep doing it because you have it right. KUDOS to all of you. We hated to leave and often times on our way home the conversation would turn to what a wonderful time we had with all of you. Give Gunner a big hug from the Morton family and a special treat.
First time staying at the Tyrolean Lodge and was not disappointed. The room was up to date, clean and had wonderful beds. The Staff was very friendly and genuine. Im hoping your dog is still on the mend. Thanks for everything.
The pet-friendly room we had was large, clean, and modern, while the lodge itself is rather outdated. Breakfast was mediocre at best, and if you enjoy a good cup of coffee, you'll have to go elsewhere.
Although we were in Ketchum for a veterinary visit for our injured dog, not a pleasure trip..we were very pleased with the Tyrolean Lodge. We had a pleasant stay and the staff was sympathetic and helpful. Very clean, good breakfast, only off-putting thing was the narrow hallway!
We spent three nights at the Best Western Tyrolean in Ketchum, ID. We found the staff wonderful, the room clean and comfortable, and the hotel over all quite nice. The hot breakfast every morning was excellent: scrambled eggs, either bacon or patty sausage, waffle maker, hot oatmeal with all the trimmings, three types of cold cereal with choice of 2% milk or skim milk or almond milk, bagels and toast, breakfast pastries, and juices and coffee. The fireplace was going on the cold mornings. The dining room was clean and well lit. The lobby has a warm, old-world feel with seating areas, a fireplace and shelves with a few books and games (Clue, chess & checkers, Risk). In an adjacent room was more seating and a computer with internet access. A machine offered 24/7 complimentary coffee and expresso drinks. There were cookies on the registration desk. The hotel is located an easy walk from downtown Ketchum and a close-by day ski lodge. At night, it was very quiet.
Great location, friendly staff, clean and comfortable. Love the fireplace in the lobby on chilly mornings! Breakfast is fresh; afternoon cookies a treat; can walk it all off from motel since location is in proximity to everything!
We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The lobby had a blazing fire and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and the bed was very comfy. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
Came in for a business trip, last minute, booked through the corporate system and got to the hotel. Impressive place! Designed after a ski lodge, the lobby has nice creature comforts, beautiful rooms, and excellent service from the staff. Dee, if you're reading this, thank you for being awesome and patient! You rock! Excellent place to stay last minute or for long term. Ski lift is right across the street from it, maybe 10min walk to Mount Baldy.
The Tyrolean Lodge is a clean, quiet and charming hotel at the base of Baldy Mountain in Ketchum, Idaho. The staff go out of their way to make sure your stay is comfortable! They serve an amazing complimentary hot breakfast daily along with freshly baked yummy cookies throughout the day in the lobby! The beds, pillows and linens are great!
This hotel is better than the average travel spot with a very nice lobby and breakfast room. The breakfast was also above average. Only real negative is that it is a bit far from the center of town and a little hard to find. Ketchum is a really interesting little town with lots of restaurants and bars as well as great mountain views.
Staff was very friendly, helpful. Rooms were clean, beautiful fireplace in lobby. Don't be fooled by the price or because it isn't a new hotel. This was a good find, good breakfast and inexpensive! The only downside is that you do need to drive to downtown for dinner or shopping.
Helpful staff, let us use a hose and hotel rags to clean bikes, warm cookies on arrival, friendly and accommodating the whole stay. Do not expect similar service at the other Best Western in Ketchum, which will not allow you to bring a bicycle into the hotel.
This hotel was clean and the breakfast offerings were fine. My complaints are due to the fact some rooms have a mountain view and balcony but no chairs to sit out and enjoy the view. Also the sliding glass doors to the balcony have no screen so you can't let fresh air in without also letting the bugs in. When you sit on the edge of the bed and the mattress sinks down to the box spring, it means it is time for a new mattress! No support at all. The location is away from the busy town but easily within walking distance. This hotel could be so much better if it just updated a few things.
Great Hotel in Ketchum close to downtown so you can walk close to muti purpose trail for walking, biking clean great service great breakfast would stay here again if in the area has a pool but did not have time to use it also has a washer/dryer which was nice and a small gym
I loved everything but the fact that there were not any screens on window. So we had to sleep with the air on. I much rather be able to open the sliding glass door to the porch or a window. But everything else was great
Wow, this hotel may be older but updated modernly, beautiful and comfort. We stayed in a two level Deluxe Suite with 2 walkout patio doors. The view was breath taking, Bald Mountain Across the way with the lift going up and down. As for the hotel, not a speck of dust, smudge on furniture or spot on the enormous double shower. The Manager and Staff have the right to walk with pride, this is actually the most cared for inside and out. We had asked for extra pillows and they were actually in the Suite when we arrived, even though we had only given them a half hours notice. If you are going to go anywhere to relax go here. I must say it is the to Best Western we have ever stayed in. Breakfast was excellent. The whole experience was breath taking. One last not, stepped out on patio to see the moon, the complete silence except the breeze blowing through the quaking Aspen's, pine trees and other plants was so perfect. Thank you for pampering us for the night.
Visited for Labor Day so we could ride the Wood River Bike Trail. Can't say enough about this place. I was concerned that the hotel would be run down & shabby, because of its proximity to a ski resort. All the equipment being hauled about can take its toll. Not so. It was clean, updated, and excellent proximity to the bike path, downtown, and Sun Valley Lodge. I would return here if I were coming to ski. Staff was efficient, pool was clean, breakfast was good. (I would recommend to management to offer real eggs in the buffet--I'd pay an extra $5-10 for real eggs.) Be sure to ask for a key to the pool before you go out to the pool. Nice place.
The beds and pillows were very comfortable. Our room was small, but the hotel is older, and we knew that going in. Very nice setting in the front of hotel, with the mountain right in front of you. Dee at the front desk was very helpful, asked if we needed help with our bags, since there is no elevator, and we were staying on the second floor. We declined, but great of Dee to offer. Others at the front desk were less friendly.
We checked into this hotel touting its Austrian decor. We were expecting a charming mountain lodge, but in reality it is a rather dumpy looking hotel. I got my first warning that this was not the lodge of my dreams at $200 a night when I passed the "coffee station" in the lobby that had a push button machine dispensing dried coffee. We were traveling with a dog and were assigned room 126. When we walked in there was a very strong odor of what smelled like a dirty vacuum bag with the additional scent of mold and mildew. I initially thought it was from housekeeping, so I opened the window to let it air out. An hour later and no improvement I started searching for the source of the smell. I finally realized it was coming from the air conditioner. I pulled out the filters and found them completely clogged, but unfortunately the smell did not improve because if the filters are not cleaned regularly then the fins of the A/C unit take on mold/mildew and grime as well. Because of the smell we slept with the A/C unit off and window open which would not have been a bad solution except we had a wedding party next to the hotel and the music did not stop until very late. To add insult to injury the walls were paper thin and we could hear our neighbors conversations. The hallway carpeting was black with dirt and desperately needed cleaning. Overall, we had a very disappointing stay so we checked out early. I would not stay here again.
Comfortable, simple hotel with a lovely swimming pool (big enough for laps) and hot tub; ample breakfast; great location; and very friendly, helpful staff. Worked well for our first trip for hiking and rafting-- we would stay here again.
My husband stayed here when he was a kid. He remembers the hotel with blue carpet. Never fear the place looks to have been redecorated recently. It is in a great location, quiet but still close to town. The room has lots of television channels and down stairs there is a comfortable lobby and patio. Did not have time to swim or play air hockey though I really wanted to. Check in was friendly and efficient. Wish the coffee and toiletries were better but I survived.
We really enjoyed our stay at Tyrolean Lodge. It was clean, and the kids enjoyed the warm pool and the game room. Appreciate that they offer non-dairy milk at breakfast for vegans or those with dairy allergies (many hotels with breakfast don't have this option)
Room was comfortable, clean, similar to many other Best Westerns. Good breakfast, lovely lobby and porch. Ketchum was very busy in early August and it was a pleasure just to walk into town and not touch the car, not have to deal with traffic and parking. It's also right on the beautiful bike path that goes on for 32 miles.
Excellent hotel, great service and very clean rooms. Within easy walking distance of downtown Ketchum and close to the bike path along the Big Wood River. Very good breakfast. Happy with our stay. We would recommend this hotel to anyone, especially if you are looking for a more affordable option in Ketchum.
Anyone that's been to Ketchum should remember the heavy traffic. I did have problems finding the place... heading north into Ketchum I never did see a sign for the BW so I had to call and get directions. I ended up missing the turnoff and then had to call the office again for directions and did find it. Had the office just told me they were on the road up against the mtn with a ski lift out their parking lot, I would have found it easier but I did find it and I though it to be a very nice place due to it's location off the main street and walking distance to downtown. My trip was spur of the moment to take a dog to the vet that specializes in spinal and joint injuries.
Quaint but excellent. Quiet but an easy walk to Main Street into downtown Ketchum. We would definitely stay again. Everything was close by: museums, shops, restaurants, espresso coffee shops. We were even "treated" in the full breakfast room by watching parasail jumpers from the top of the mountain land in the meadow directly in front of the hotel. Ah, travel!
The lodge is at the base of Bald mountain and within a short distance of the Main street in Ketchum. It was a convenient launching point. The staff was knowledgeable and helpful. The breakfast is basic but good. It doesn't have an elevator if this is an issue.
The room was as quiet as home, clean, and the staff super friendly and helpful. Although it did not have a elevator and was a couple miles away from our conference, this was one of the best hotel experiences I have had in a long time. I totally recommend staying here!
This is the best place to stay. They are friendly and make your stay very nice. The view from the hotel is awesome. And the hotel its self is absolutely divine. The staff really make sure your stay is the best that it can be. And they will even help you if you can't decide where to eat dinner.
This hotel is located very near to both the Bald Mountain lifts and the bicycle trails. However, you'll need a car or a bike to get to the downtown Ketchum restaurants and shops. The rooms are nicely appointed and offer up very comfortable beds. The staff was friendly; and, the hotel provides a nice complementary breakfast each morning. If you're a skier, this hotel is probably your choice.
Comfortable, clean, very pleasant hotel near Sun Valley resort and in town shopping. Would request mountain view room next time. Hotel does not have elevator for second and third floor. Breakfast very satisfactory. Coffee and tea always available in the lobby.
This hotel is nothing fancy, but the rooms are nice and comfortable. It is within walking distance of downtown Ketchum. Some rooms are also dog friendly, which is nice and the reason we chose this hotel. The staff/service was good, not excellent. They were not overly friendly or accommodating. I would rate this hotel as average.
The Tyrolean Lodge is located fairly close to the downtown area of Ketchum. It's not been totally remodeled, however it's been maintained and is in a quiet neighborhood setting with a nice view of the mountains.
I love all the amenities this place has to offer! The view and location is ideal! The staff has always been more than accommodating in every way possible. The breakfast is the best I have experienced. Lots of choices. The pool/hot tub area is clean and inviting.
We stayed at the Best Western Tyrolean for a summer visit while in Sun Valley with our two kids. The hotel was good value and comfortable, with friendly service. It could use a little bit of a refresh (carpets) but overall fine facilities. The kids loved it - rated it one of their favorites of our holiday! - as they loved the games room and swimming pool. The location is walking distance to Main Street and right near the slopes - would be ideal in winter. I personally would have preferred to choose a location a little more in the centre of things for our summer stay but this is a minor point. Staff were very nice and helpful. I really liked the lobby area with fireplace, games table.
this is not a fancy plush hotel, but it does have all the things you need when you want a nice hotel. Quiet location, can walk to town, laundry facilities, they take dogs (great area to walk dog just outside), coffee making machine that is awesome, and beautiful view from the front deck of the hotel. Perfection!
Upon check-in the Front Desk Lady named Brook - Exceptional - Period! (She also checked us out 2 days later). On check-in day our room was going to be late for cleaning. Brook gave us a different room (king instead of 2 queen). The room was very nice and no smoking smells (my wife is very sensitive). My wife needed help with transportation options and Brook gave her great advice. My wife is happy - I am happy. Thank-you Brook for the memorable stay with a Grand view! We plan on staying at Tyrolean Lodge on any future trips. Fresh fruit for breakfast - hot crispy bacon + eggs - A clean will kept swimming pool - Quiet with a relaxing mountain view - We could not ask for more as this was all Perfect!
This is our 2nd stay at the Tyrolean. We love it here! Beautiful view of the mountains, right next to the bike trails, and close enough to town to walk. We have breakfast here every morning- good selection of food and always plenty to eat. I am no an early riser, but the breakfast buffet is always fresh and full when I get there right before they shut it down.
We booked a pre-stay for a group of 17 prior to a 6-day rafting trip on the Middle Fork with Far and Away Adventures. From reservation to check-in to extra requests, these guys were super accommodating and friendly. They also let us have our rafting meeting their with the outfitter which was great. The kids rec room was key also.
I have stayed here before and found it to be reasonably priced in $$$ Sun Valley Idaho, and the staff has always been helpful and attentive. They allow dogs in some rooms for $20/night. This time, near the time of our reservation, our dachshund Elfe had back surgery. She needed to be crated and cared for by us. The hotel staff, including Mary the manager, went out of their way to find a"dog friendly" room for us on a SOLD OUT WEEKEND, even though we had not booked a dog friendly room in the beginning. I love these guys. A+ human beings. I will stay again.
I really enjoyed this lodge - fantastic staff and really liked the location. The views are great, and far enough from downtown you don't hear all the car noise, but close enough to walk. I would highly recommend - rooms were nice but again the staff was awesome!
Hotel and room were clean and convenient. the coffee machine in the lobby was very good. breakfast has gluten free options and was also good. The only minor issue is the deck could permit anyone walking by and looking into the rooms; maybe just my east coast lack of trust, but i was not a fan of that.
We loved the view and how relaxing the hotel was, though it seems due for updates. The hotel has nice views of River Run Ski hill and the mountains. The hotel needs new carpeting throughout and need some exterior work. The housekeeping staff was very friendly. The front desk people were not very friendly. Simple things could be done to make this place better. We did enjoy how quiet the hotel was and away from the busy main street of Ketchum!
My husband and I took a driving tour through Idaho and Montana. It was the best stay during our 10-day travel. The lobby set-up was just very homey with a fireplace (snowed outside during June). Breakfast was the best among all hotels that we stayed. It was a very pleasant experience.
This hotel, walking distance to downtown Ketchum, is very clean with nice-sized rooms. Its real attraction though are the nice extras: free "barista machine" coffee drinks, a fun game room, sauna, etc. It is in a quiet location with a nice view of the mountains. It is also just a couple of blocks from the Wood River bike trail.
We were very impressed with the gal who checked us in & then out the next day. Her name is Brook & she was so cheerful & personable. Loved talking with her. The room was great & the included breakfast was awesome. Highly recommend.
Perfect, off the beaten path, little hotel that has everything you need for a good night's sleep. Who comes to Sun Valley/Ketchum area to stay in their room?? No one...book here, you won't be disappointed and save some $$$ to spend out and about. This is a very good value.
This is my sixth or seventh stay at this property over the last several years. They always recognize my Best Western status with great amenities and upgrade. The setting couldn't be nicer and my affinity for the property continues
We enjoyed our stay- located on a quiet street across the street from Mt. Baldy. Staff was excellent and breakfast was advertised as continental but was in fact the full boat. Very short drive to downtown for food and shopping. It is an older property but well maintained. Get a room on first floor if stairs a problem.
Rooms need updated and sliding doors and windows need replaced. Breakfast was great and the staff was friendly and professional. Need to add some patio chairs to the balcony so people can sit out and enjoy the view!
We planned this trip as an executive retreat, and the accommodations were exactly what we needed. The room was a perfect size, the beds were unbelievably comfortable and the staff was very helpful, but the best part was the beautiful view of the mountains.
I highly recommend this place. The breakfast's were amazing, great service, and comfy rooms. They have a nice outdoor hot tub and pool and the location is close to the lifts. If you wanted to, you could walk there or take a bus.
With a recent stay for spring skiing, this hotel was a good location for getting to and from the mountain each day. The competitive pricing was also a plus. However, we didn't sleep well with the uncomfortable beds and the tiny bathrooms were less than ideal. It's a 15 minute walk downtown for the restaurants and shops, so next time we will probably stay somewhere closer to the town.
The hotel was very clean and the staff was nice. We were traveling with our dogs and it is a very dog friendly hotel. After arriving to the town it was the perfect place to stay to easily take our dogs outside and exercise them.
This hotel is in a prime location for a skiing vacation, the breakfast was ample and well stocked, the bed was super comfy, and the bathroom was freshly remodeled. I would definitely stay here again. The price can't be beat.
great location, very comfortable and cozy, cool old school ambiance, reasonable rates, quite a nice stay! friendly staff, nice hot breakfast, great fireplaces, very nice euro style common areas. ........
The property is located very close to the base area and within walking distance (or a short drive) to downtown restaurants/bars. The staff is awesome. They went out of their way to ensure we had an enjoyable ski trip. Nice outdoor hot tub/pool, better than average bedding, and a hot breakfast buffet all added up to a pleasant stay.
This hotel has the friendliest front desk staff ever! They were so helpful and nice. We stayed in room 265 which was a wonderful suite with the most awesome shower for two.The hotel is quaint, clean, recently remodeled, comfortable and in a great location. We will definitely return.
Stayed 2 nights. Reminds me of ski lodges in Vermont. Rooms redone and immaculate tile floors. Hallways narrow and a bit older like lodges in past. Only one that gives nice free breakfast in large room with fireplace and staff there very helpful. Lobby very neat old fashioned atmosphere. I felt like my past ski days Right next to new sun valley Lodge/lift Reasonably priced
This is an older motel but has been well maintained and is a good affordable place to stay. The rooms are clean and the breakfast was served until 10 a.m. which is a little later than some motels. We would stay here again.
Stayed here at the Tyrolean for 3 nights during a medical conference at the Sun Valley Lodge. This is, I think, the third time we have stayed here. During the off-season, it is close to downtown (walking distance) and a little off the busy traffic pattern as well. In winter, it is great for its close ski hill access. Rooms are small, cute, clean, plenty of hot water, and the staff is great. Not sure how to improve on this place, as the price is already very good.
Pet friendly rooms, breakfast room has great options and will satisfy all tastes. The breakfast room was remodeled 2 years ago and the new features are nice. Rooms are decently sized. It is because of the breakfast room, we return each year, during the Ski and Trauma Conference.
I really don't understand why so many people carp about this Lodge. I truly believe that they're trying to gyp the owner out of comps. Great place, great price, beautiful views. It's a place to stay cheepos!
We decided on the Tyrolean since that is where my husband stayed about 18 years ago. They advertised a total redo. To our surprise, it looked the same as it did the last time. A little paint and a new vanity is not a total refurbish. I also think the mattresses were the same. It was clean, the staff friendly. Guess we got our money's worth for an off seasonal promotional.
Nice location, very helpful and friendly staff and comfortable rooms. Chocolate chip cookies upon arrival! We had a couple housekeeping issues that were quickly resolved by a caring staff. Mary and Brooke at front desk were top notch. Great breakfast as well.
Great place to stay, the best beds in town for comfort. The food for the continental breakfast is good and lots of variety for the calorie conscious. Also the location is great as it is very close to the Sun Valley Lodge if you are a skier or hiker.
This is where we have stayed on our almost yearly visits to Ketchum for at least 20 years. This hotel is always clean and beautiful and everyone is always very nice. The breakfast is very good and the rooms have been updated just beautifully. There are plenty of outlets to charge everything you have that needs charging. The beds are very comfortable. We love it here!
We traveled here for the annual Trailing of the Sheep Festival. The hotel is a few blocks off Main Street so it was easy to get to the activities we wanted to take part in. It was also very close to the bike path that goes in both directions. The staff was helpful in answering questions about the festival. The breakfast was great- many choices of breakfast items.
This Hotel is within Ketchum Idaho, a little out dated in decor but very comfortable and charming. The hotel was accommodating with a pool, workout facilities, game room, vending machines, microwave and coffee. The rooms were very nice, comfortable and quite. Within walking distance to shopping and dinning. I will note that there was no elevators in this Best Western hotel but the stairs were easy to climb. The continental breakfast was spectacular! You'll have your choice of: juices, coffee, hot chocolate for beverages. Food: muffins, toast, biscuits and gravy, waffles, eggs, bacon, cereal, milks, oatmeal, yogurt and it's all served in a nice great room with several four or two top tables and a fireplace with lots of beautiful sheer draped windows. All in all a wonderful stay at the Best Western hotel. Would recommend and stay again in the future.
We've stayed at this hotel every fall for the last 6 years and enjoy it. Comfortable bed, nice amenities, beautiful location, helpful staff! Highly recommend it. Lots of nice restaurants and shopping close by. Easy to walk to downtown Ketchum.
Although an older style, this is a lovely hotel off the main drag facing the ski slopes. No elevator so be prepared. Staff upgraded our room to mountain view and we also had a small sitting room. Very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was perfectly reasonable with quite a choice. It is a little way from the centre of Ketchum so need a couple of minutes drive to get to restaurants. The reception staff suggestion was excellent.
This Best Western was in a good location, away from the main street and very quiet. The room was clean and the breakfast was delicious. Staff is helpful and friendly. What more could you ask for at a great price.
The Tyrolean Lodge provides clean, well appointed rooms at a reasonable price. They are the only motel in Sun Valley that allows one to travel with pets. The location is great, across from walking trails and the ski hill. This is wonderful in the Fall as well as providing great access to the ski hill in the winter season.
This place is very average located several blocks from Ketchum. Needs remodeling. Breakfast standard cheap motel food. Would not give a late check out, very tight. Only slightly less expensive than the other nearby motels, the Kenwood Best Western is a much nicer place, closer to the shops and restaurants.
First let me say that this is one of the only pet friendly places in this area, for which I am thankful. The location is good, especially if you are skiing across the street. However, it is old and worn. I'm guessing rooms are very cold in the winter. Just because I travel with a dog doesn't mean I don't want a nice place to stay. Best Westerns are usually good bets, but the other one in town doesn't allow pets. So, we're probably done with Sun Vally/Ketchum - just a little too snooty.
I come every year for a weekend conference nearby but don't wish to pay resort prices. This is the 3rd year I've been and have been happy each year. Rooms very clean and comfortable, wifi works well and my husband says breakfast is good (I eat at my meeting). Will be back.
We stopped in on the spur of the moment while traveling through Idaho. The room was so comfortable, the mountain view was spectacular and the pool/hot tub so relaxing. It's a close walk to the village for shopping and restaurants. After a great night's sleep, we walked to the breakfast room to find a fire roaring in the fireplace and the breakfast selection was top notch. Hated to leave!
The hotel is older, but the rooms are nicely updated, the beds were comfortable, and the staff was super friendly. Plus, the place has lots of character! Considering how pricey Ketchum is, we were very happy with our stay and would return.
About 7 mins walk from the town center. Comfortable, clean rooms. Nice staff. Great breakfast. Decent internet. Good for families and groups. I went with a large exhausted hiking group and Tyrolean lodge and all the amenities for this aching and hungry group.
The hotel is near the sky lifts and within walking distance of the downtown restaurants. Our room on the first floor was comfortable, but small. Our paperwork from Expedia said, full breakfast, but the sign on the wall pointing to the breakfast area said "Continental Breakfast." It was in my opinion a full breakfast - There were scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy and you could make yourself waffles. We asked for a recommendation for dinner and were told that reservations were not necessary. That turned out to be a mistake, but the restaurant had special function, so the normal dinner menu was not available. There is no elevator, so we were glad that we did not have to take any steps to our room.
We chose this location because we had some points and got one night free and the other night was a reasonable rate. Had a NS, King room and it was very acceptable. Room had a fridge but no microwave. All the other properties in town that I tried had rates that were beyond me. In a quiet location about a 5 minute walk to all the shopping and dining in Ketchum. Older property but the room was updated nicely, clean and functional. Decent continental breakfast with a good size dining area. Outdoor pool and hot tub, looked OK but it was too cold for the pool. If it matters to you there is no elevator so you'd want a ground floor room. Narrow hallways and some funky halls that go up and down a few stairs at a time. Carpet in the halls could be redone. But as previously stated, the room we had was updated and good. I'd stay here again in Sun Valley. Sun Valley is mostly for people with a lot more money than me.
Great location, walking distance to town. Our room had a magnificent view of the River Run ski runs on Mt Baldi there after Labor Day. The property is older but rooms are updated, small bathroom but a great shower. AC/H is noisy but ear plugs worked great. Excellent internet service.
The hotel is definitely older with a Bavavian theme throughout. We stayed in a suite on the second floor with a beautiful view of the mountains, albeit somewhat blocked by an overhang, but a lovely view none-the-less. Two separate rooms with a tv in each..very large bathroom, great hot shower, lots of towels and a refrigerator. The room was very clean and comfortable. There is no elevator so if carrying your luggage up a set of stairs is a problem, request a room on the first floor. The continental breakfast is included. It's located just a few minutes walking out of town toward the ski lift. It's very reasonable, the staff is extremely nice and helpful.
Beautiful setting, friendly staff, great amenities, delicious breakfast- had the perfect stay! Already booked for next year because of our fantastic experience! The bed was super comfortable, tv selections great, and we loved the coffee in the lobby and at breakfast. Warm cookies in the lobby all afternoon. The pool area was clean and I had it to myself for about 3 hours. Not one thing to complain about.
An older motel but very clean with a Bavarian atmosphere. Great location in Sun Valley Idaho with great access to the mountain and the town area. The staff were very accommodating and the Continental breakfast was very good. The view of the mountain from the hot tub is excellent.
We had an ADA room and it had a normal tub that I had to sit down on the supplied chair to get into the tub. Another problem was that there were no bars on the walls of the shower to hang onto for stability. That was a real problem. The only other problem is that the breakfast area was up some stairs and too far away from the room to where I couldn't get to it. Other than those items, everything was fine.
The staff at Tyrollean could not have been nicer. We were on a 3500 mile hot rod run with six other vintage cars and spent one night (7/28/16) there. Two of us had car troubles so we arrived five hours later than the others. Brooke checked us in after 9pm, had already typed a list for each of us of the others room numbers, told us what time they wanted us to meet in the breakfast room, gave us the name and number of an Italian restaurant that would deliver that late (we were starving)! Brooke was so helpful and made the end of a frustrating and exhausting day quite pleasant. The rooms were nice and clean and the breakfast room offered enough variety to please anyone. I wish we had been able to stay longer and enjoy Ketchum- beautiful shops within walking distance. I was emailed a review to fill out and accidentally gave a horrible review to this hotel- it was meant for a hotel in Park City, UT! When I called BW Tyrollean about my accidental horrible review, they were even nice about that! Best Western Tyrollean Is a wonderful place to stay and exceptional people work there! -T. Brown
We stayed here for one night while visiting Sun Valley. The location was about a 10 minute walk from downtown Ketchum. It was also close to biking/walking trails that run all over the valley. Rooms are somewhat dated, but clean and well maintained. We enjoyed the complimentary breakfast with a good variety of fresh fruit, cooked foods and drinks. We stayed on the upper floor and heard no other guests -- great nights sleep. I would recommend this for a nice value-conscious hotel stay in Ketchum.
The location of this hotel is great. However, the quality of the hotel is poor. The hotel is in need of some serious updating. The air conditioner was worn, loud and ineffective. The bed was years past being comfortable. Room doors are very narrow, as are hallways. Difficult to even get by the housekeeping carts. Not worth the money.
I've stayed at a few Best Westerns over the years and typically have a nice experience but this one was not one of my favorites. The pros-right next to Bald Mountain, walking distance (half mile) to center of town, large room with a nice view of the mountain, decent breakfast with hot and cold items, clean pool with a good temperature. The cons-inhospitable reception staff, noisy chatting maids in the hallway in the morning. Service with a smile is so important in the hospitality industry when you have choices of where to stay.
Great place to stay. Walking distance to rental bike and greenbelt. Superb view of the ski mountain. Walking distance to dining and shops. Cozy feeling. Good for small groups. No large meeting or central sitting areas.
Great place to stay updated rooms while keeping old world charm as the name would imply. Frendly accommodating staff takes care of all your needs. Million dollar view of Bald Mountain and Sun Valley close to downtown.
We were there in July, so not aware of winter activities/services. The European style lodge has been renovated/updated and served our needs well. The staff are friendly, courteous and helpful. Beds and linens are very comfortable; bathroom was small, but adequate; the room was otherwise large with a desk and sitting area. The hot breakfast buffet is good and promptly replenished. Location is excellent; we walked anywhere downtown easily; also walked to the Lodge at Sun Valley. Very short drive to ski lifts; lots of friendly and helpful info regarding hiking trails. Several nearby restaurants; we sampled the Ketchum Grille, Rickshaw and Enoteca, all excellent. The only 'cons' would be difficult to correct: thin walls and potential noise from the hallway. Overall, I would recommend to friends and would stay again.
This place has a great location, staff, game room, gym, breakfast, everything....the ONE issue, if it is one for you, is that it does not have an elevator. Would I have liked one given that we had a 3rd floor room? Yes. Was it a big deal? No. Enjoy the place. Very nice staff.
We spent two nights in sun valley with our dog. The hotel has the feel of an older typical ski town hotel. However the rooms have been recently redone and are very nice. I really liked the hardwood floors. So much cleaner then carpet! Breakfast was nice. The front seat staff was very helpful. They offered suggestions regarding activities and restaurants. They kept offering assistance if any was needed. It really made them seem like they wanted to help! Nice touch! There are nice fields to walk the dog around right outside if you are traveling with a pet and you are very close the to walking path and even a creek for the dog to swim in.
Hotel was a little hard to find but the plus is that it is in a quiet area. Very nice people at check in. The pool and spa area was very nice and had a great view of the ski mountain. Hotel is located a short walk from the heart of downtown Ketchum so you get to see more of the area. I would like to go back in winter and ski that mountain!
very nice motel just off the city's main street. walked to restaurants and other sites within the city. Breakfast was good. rooms were comfortable. pool was clean and refreshing. Front desk staff were great and helpful. great stay.
This is a lovely place to stay. I imagine it to be somewhat authentic to the original Sun Valley atmosphere. Great staff and nice breakfast. View of one of the ski areas. Lots of memorabilia of early years.
Good place to stay if you like a serene environment, with view of the mountains, and closer to nature than shopping boutiques. Suited our wished perfectly. The room was very comfortable. The exterior of the hotel needs some TLC, and the pool could be more clean and less heated (water). The breakfast was nice with hot and cool options.
I always stay at the hotel when I travel to Ketchum for business. I really can not say enough good thing about it! The staff is super friendly and always goes above and beyond to make travelers feel special. The breakfast is great and the internet is fast. They did a recent remodel which makes it all even nicer.
We arrived at hotel and was told we had been upgraded to a King Suite but had a dog so got a room with two queens as hadn't planned on bringing the dog. It was a nice gesture on the hotels part. The only downfall we had was that our air didn't work in room 140 & each night we forgot until we got ready to go the bed, only the fan ran; it was really hot & stuffy. I also forgot to let them know on the way out. Breakfast was wonderful with a lot of selections to choose from and really good oatmeal. We would stay again, the location is ideal for walking into town and home. My husband would've liked access to the hot tub earlier than 10am.
The Tyrolean Lodge was recommended by a local resident for pet-friendly and reasonably priced accommodations. The rooms were recently remodeled. This was by far the cleanest pet room we ever experienced at a hotel -- no carpet and no lingering smells. Staff was very friendly and accommodating.
While this is indeed a Best Western motel, it feels like its own unique and special place. It faces Bald Mountain and, in the building and decoration, reflects the ski slopes visible from the front porch and many of the rooms. The rooms have just been totally and tastefully renovated; the beds and atmosphere are very, very comfortable. With scrambled eggs, bacon or sausage, and fresh hot oatmeal, the free full breakfast is several notches better than standard motel continental breakfasts, and it has all those breakfasts' usual items. We appreciated the real ceramic dishes and mugs and also the presence of staff to resupply the serving area and keep it clean. What a bike-friendly motel! The River Run access point to the excellent, paved Wood River Trail is nearby, and the staff invited us to keep our bikes either in their first-floor storage room or in our room. The very best part of this place is the staff. Every person who helped us during our stay, including housekeepers, front desk staff, gardener, and manager, interacted in a personal, friendly way.
It was obvious that the hotel is set up more for ski season than for summer visitors. This is an enormous property and is walking distance from the ski slopes. Compared to other hotels the price was very competitive. I was traveling with my older parents and we were disappointed to learn that the hotel has no elevators, so that made getting around a little difficult. The property has been around awhile, but it is in pretty good condition and our room was very clean.
Had the pleasure of spending time at the Best Western in Ketchum. Lynn checked us in and was incredibly friendly and helpful. She not only made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in but pointed out some amazing places locally to eat. The location of the hotel is perfect for walking, biking, or driving to shops and dining. The rooms are very nice and clean giving you a refreshing feel while staying.
The staff was really kind and helpful, which makes the stay so much more pleasurable for me. I really appreciated the personable attention. The young man who checked me in worked at least two other shifts during my stay and was great!
The Tyrolean Lodge is a good option for very pricey Sun Valley area. Great view of Bald Mountain, and easy to hike on the mountain or walk into town. Hot tub and heated swimming pool which the kids all enjoyed. Extensive, yet typical, continental breakfast with hot entrée, waffle machine, and other choices.
Hotel was very nice and the staff were friendly. However the room was hot, because the air conditioner was not working. Also the bed was not very comfortable. Hotel is pet friendly but you can only have the pet in the room when you are in the room.
We visit there often. Always enjoy accommodations there. Location is ideal with in walking distance to village and Mt. Staff friendly and accommodating. Repeat visits planned soon. Breakfast is always delightful and nice that it is included. View of Mt. Baldy from our deck was frosting on the cake for us. Parasailers off the top of the Mt. was a delight in the morning. Underground parking was also appreciated. Looking forward to our next visit soon.
Although we loved the location near the trail, away from the noise, beautiful mtn views, the hotel leaves much to be desired. They were doing some remodeling and some of the crew were staying in the hotel, hanging out their windows smoking, and being loud. The employees were nice, we were glad there was a W/D, and the pool area was nice. The continental brunch was disappointing.
Not one time did we ever hear any of our neighbors. There's great soundproofing in this hotel. It's a little bit older but everything is kept up nicely and is very clean. The beds were just fine as were the pillows. Gorgeous Mountain View's through your windows and on your deck. The mountains are right across the street with nothing in the way or obstructing the views. The price is decent and the breakfast is better than most places.
Our stay at the Tyrolean was wonderful. First off, the front desk staff was amazing. They couldn't have been more friendly and professional, but more than that, they knew and called us by name. They even provided us with a small desk fan to use in our room to provide some white noise so that we could sleep better (the fan, incidentally, was one that was used in the office space near the front desk so they essentially gave up their own comfort for ours). The pool and hot tub were pleasant and relaxing and the breakfast was fabulous, including a variety of breads, yogurt fresh fruit, and cereals, bacon, eggs, biscuits & gravy, and the standard options of juices. The room itself was quiet & comfortable and aside from the bathroom not having a fan (showers got pretty steamed up), it was exactly what we needed and we slept very well.
We have stayed here several times, and each time has been very good. The hotel is older, but has a lot of charm. The stairs can be frustrating if you have a lot of bags to carry, so be sure to consider that when choosing. The staff is very friendly and accommodating, the rooms are clean with comfortable beds, the free breakfast is good, and the hotel is within walking distance to town. They also have family suites, which is nice for larger groups. The rates here are very reasonable for the Ketchum area. This is always our first choice when traveling to Ketchum.
... if we had one! The mountain view rooms face the ski slope, and even in summer they're lovely to see first thing in the morning! The staff was so sweet when we booked last-minute, even upgrading us to a family suite when we showed up at 8pm. Breakfast was delicious (and free) in the cutest little winter lodge room, and the whole place felt like fireplace-warmed Christmas. I cannot wait to return!
Our room was clean, the bed comfortable, we had a beautiful view of the mountains, an extreme continental breakfast fully-stocked with most anything one could want (eggs were real, oatmeal was good and they offered raisins, almonds, and brown sugar as toppings, danish, yogurt, fruit, waffles...no need to dine out), and within walking distance of Main Street.
No elevator, walls very thin, you can hear everything next door. But, it's clean and nice looking. Obviously an old hotel with a lot of remodeling. Breakfast was average, could use some fresh fruit. Watch out for high taxes and fees on the room rate!
Although it is undergoing renovations, there was no loud noise during our time at the hotel. Our room, having been recently renovated, was done very nicely. The breakfast selections had something for everyone.
I made reservations several months ahead. We were planning to bring our crate trained Corgi who travels with us a lot. When making the reservations the site quotes the additional fee to have a dog in your room. There is a remarks area that I shared we were bringing our dog. No place else when making reservations does it tell you how else to reserve a room when you plan to bring a dog. A couple weeks before I called to confirm our reservations, I was told they had no rooms available for dogs, that I should have called immediately after making my reservation and that they don't read remarks, besides only rooms with a King beds take dogs and all six rooms were booked and taken. So we had to quickly find somewhere to board our dog. When we arrived I saw that the whole bottom floor and most of the second floor were being remodeled. A friend that made reservations way after us was given a room with a view of the mountain we were given one in the corner facing the back. The only positive is this place has a stop right on the bus service. The Internet is slow and they had to reboot once. The walls are thin, we could hear the next door TV. The breakfast was fine, the scrambled eggs were sort of bland. After our stay we received a survey and I shared all this information. I suggested they have grated cheese or salsa for the eggs and they said that was a good idea. Then they shared that all the bottom floor which included all Six dog units was being remodeled. So this tells me that I was lied to!
Stayed here one night for work. Hotel is being renovated, but I was not inconvenienced. Room was clean and well appointed with a coffeemaker, mini fridge, comfortable bed, workstation, and free wifi. It is an easy walk to bars and restaurants downtown. The staff was courteous and helpful. The breakfast was good - bacon, eggs, biscuits and gravy, assorted fruit, cereal, pastry, juice and coffee. Overall I thought it was great and I would stay here again.
Was a Ketchum for training at Sun Valley. The TL is well within walking distance of the resort. The view was excellent. It was great to see the "pet" elk right outside the room. remodeled rooms are a treat.
I travel a significant amount of time in my profession. This will be my first and last time at this property. The room was extremely cramped. There were stairs everywhere. The halls are VERY narrow. One of the maids left their cleaning cart next to my room in the morning, and it was all I could do to get past it to take my belongings to my car. At night in hotels, I usually do a significant amount of work, that involves bringing in a bunch of stuff from my car. There are no luggage carts here. Even if there were, there are too many stairs. If you need an "accessible" place to stay, this is not it. The desk attendant said they had two accessible rooms, but I didn't see any "non-stair" ways to get into the hotel.
My bother and I spent our annual ski vacation in Sun Valley and stayed at the Best Western Tyrolean Village. Hotel is a 2 and 3 Story alpine lodge design and is reminiscent of a european alpine lodge. The location puts you close to the slopes and an easy five to ten minute walk to the downtown. The mountain view rooms appear to be a little larger that the standard view and for what little cost difference, they are the better buy. Rooms are clean with adequate space for luggage and people. Bathroom is typical of a moderate hotel. Very clean and the amenities are of good quality. Staff is friendly and more than happy to assist you. Overall this is a spectacular value in Sun Valley. If you're after value and location, this is hard to beat. If you're in to luxury and opulence this is not the place When we go back, we'll stay here again.
A friend and I stayed here 1 night while we were in Sun Valley to XC ski. First the positives about this motel: the room rate was affordable for our budget, the women at the front desk had top notch customer service skills, the beds in our room were very comfortable, and the breakfast room had a nice fireplace plus the food was good. The negatives were: outdoor pool and hot tub were quite small, the overall appearance of the motel's interior had a run down and well worn look, no real view and it was a several blocks walk to get to the heart of downtown. We had originally planned to stay 2-3 nights, but checked out after the 1st night and found another place to stay for a little more money but a nicer overall atmosphere. If you are on a budget, aren't particular about being in an older facility, this would be a great place to stay for you.
Had a great two weeks at this hotel. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Located at the foot of Baldy Mtn. just a few blocks from downtown Ketchum. Behold, a breakfast room that not only offers good food but serves it on porcelain to be eaten using flatware and not that awful plastic.
Was unhappy with the room for the price. The hotel was out dated and didn't meet what i expected and saw on the internet. Would not stay there again. Will pay extra to stay somewhere nicer. Breakfast was ok but probably best part of stay. Queen size bed would've been better as a dbl queen. Overall my stay was a dissatisfaction.
We had been looking forward to a weekend get-a-way in Ketchum for months. Our room was a huge disappointment. Tiny bathroom, strange odor in the bedroom area, out dated furnishings, tilting toilet, I could go on but you get the point. Should've stayed at the other Best Western in Ketchum, it's a lovely hotel. This one needs razed and rebuilt.
I enjoyed my stay here. The front desk staff was very helpful and accommodating, and gave me some great tips on local hiking options. The breakfast was pretty good, but the room was a little cramped. Unfortunately they were in the middle of renovating the breakfast area, so the hotel was a bit noisy and upheaved with workers, dust, etc. That's why I am giving them for stars. I'm sure it will be perfect when the breakfast area is back in service. if you're traveling with a pet, this is the best place to stay in Sun Valley.
Overall a great hotel. The rooms were nice, great seating in the lobby with a nice fireplace, a very adequate breakfast and clean well maintained hotel. This hotel is also walking distance to the Sun Valley ski resort and restaurants in town. Staff was friendly and helpful. I often don't write reviews, but thought this hotel deserved some praise. Keep up the great work!
This is a good quality hotel, not fancy, but high quality hotel. I like the hotel. I hate the trip adviser gustapo that will not let me out of this thing till I write 200 characters. Trip advisor you suck... Got it hotel good ... trip adviser app bad
We booked in as a couple into the Tyrolean Lodge in Ketchum, Sun Valley Idaho. Reception was very friendly and helpful. There is a coffee machine in the foyer, with alternate hot chocolate or tea options. Breakfast was free and was a buffet between 7am and 10am. Simple fare, being scrambled eggs, bacon, potatoes, waffles, toast, cereal and similar. Coffee/tea/chocolate was also available, with machine juice. Room (241) was on the second floor and had a balcony running along all the rooms. Unfortunately there was no elevator so luggage was hand carried to the room. Help was available with the luggage and offered (but declined on arrival). Friendly staff. The bed was huge and comfortable (King) with nice pillows. Unfortunately there was no microwave or fridge in the room. We kept our drinks cold using the ice machine a couple of metres from our room. The room was a little dated but nice. The hotel is part way through a renovation and this is expected to be done by April 2016. We had some issues with the TV reception but the maintenance man was very much on top of this and swapped out the unit. The ski lifts were a 400m walk away across the carpark. A shuttle was available if you didn't want to walk it.
Best Western quality at extremely reasonable prices in a town that offers no reasonable prices; it was a pleasant surprise to find such affordable rates at Sun Valley! Also the staff was extremely helpful and pleasant. Will plan on staying here on my next trip to Ketchum.
One shuttle stop from River Run base lodge for Sun Valley - you cannot beat the value anywhere in Ketchum. This is an older property but it is warm and comfortable and very conveniently located. This is not a "trophy" property, but rather a great place to stay.
The bed are comfortable. The hotel is located very close to River Run lodge and downtown Ketchum. We were not fans of the breakfast but we maybe picky eaters. This is a great value for this resort town. If you want the high end spa like experience, the SV lodge is your ticket, if you want a comfortable bed close to the ski hill, this a good option.
A very good value hotel. Very close to the Mount Baldy. Staff was excellent. Hotel was great. Is a little on the older side, but we did not mind that at all. Very good breakfast, good wifi, clean, spacious room. On the con side (and not a big deal) was no fridge or microwave in the room.
My happy German Shepherd and I stayed at Tyrolean over Christmas, while visiting family. Our room was perfect and being we both have fabulous noses for pet smells, it was so nice that we couldn't even tell there had been pets in the room prior to our stay. Everything was clean and nicely laid out. The staff was very friendly and loving towards my Shepherd! I would definitely recommend this hotel to people and dog lovers alike!
The room we stayed in was nicely renovated but the beds have not been updated, the beds were sloping in toward the middle and I felt like I was being pulled toward the center all night. You can not beat the location if you are skiing at Baldy and the selection of restaurants nearby is staggering, (Make Reservations !!!). This is original post and beam construction so expect noise from sides and above - some improvements could be made to adjoining room doors to make them more sound resistant. Cookies at 4:00pm is a nice touch, the breakfast is great if you like fresh waffles.
This motel is the closest to the River Run Area of Sun Valley. Rooms are clean and prices are right. Hotel has a pingpong and foosball table along with board games and an exercise room when you are not skiing.
Nice place with all the amenities (free internet, breakfast, fitness center, coin laundry to name a few) for good price. Staffs are very pleasant and helpful. It's also walking distance from River run lifts.
We stayed for 2 nights over Thanksgiving Weekend. We used Best Western Points and felt that we were treated so well. We were upgraded to a suite which was very nice. The room had recently been remodeled and was very beautiful. Lots of room. The Breakfast in the morning has a lot of options and overall we felt we were treated very well by the front desk, service, etc... Thank you very much. We recommend this hotel very much. I have stayed at the other BW property in Ketchum and found this one much more welcoming. Thank you so much.
We normally don't stay in a hotel in this area as it is close enough to just come for the day, but we wanted to do something a little different for a Thanksgiving holiday. The price we paid was great for the area and also because it was a holiday. This is a nice average hotel with a decent continental breakfast. This place does not have a elevator, so if you don't want to carry your luggage up the stairs, make sure you ask for a ground floor. If you want a view of the mountains and/or ski area, make sure you ask for that as the back rooms overlook a few buildings and an empty lot which didn't look too bad with a few inches of snow on it. The only detraction for me was that we didn't have a microwave which would have been nice to heat up some leftovers we had from a previous dinner. The other item was the bed was a bit hard so my hubby and I had a few kinks to work out after a night in bed. But that may not be an issue for some But over all the hotel is in a good location for walking into town or close to some of the ski runs. The hotel does offer a shuttle to the lifts.
Other than then the construction that was going on during our stay the stay was great, the breakfast was good and the staff was friendly. I think the parking lot could be a little bigger but everything was great
I was unable to keep my reservation due to unforeseen circumstances and uncontrollable events which which was stressful for me. Mason and Yadira were so kind and helpful. They were able to sell my room and relieve me of my financial obligation. This kind gesture allowed me to more completely enjoy my time at the Sun Valley Jazz Festival. I appreciate their kindness and responsiveness. I hope to enjoy the environs of the Inn my next visit.
Great breakfast, comfortable bed, in a beautiful town for a really good price. That sums it up, but I apparently need to lengthen my review. So I would say that everything in Ketchum is expensive, but this hotel was very affordable.
Very pleasant stay. The room looked recently updated. The beds were very comfortable. Nice view from our balcony over a grassy field to a hill with ski runs. The neighborhood had a residential feel and convenient access to downtown. Breakfast room was nice and large. Many food choices, including scrambled eggs every day and alternating choice of bacon or sausage. Carpeting on stairs and in hallways is well worn. Front desk staff were friendly and helpful. Provided area map and good restaurant recommendation. Glad we stayed here.
We have stayed here several times over the last few years. Staff are very friendly and helpful. This time we got the hot tub suite. The room was super but the hot tub was a little disappointing. A few of the jets had very low pressure. The breakfast was good, lots of choices.
A great place to stay any time of the year. Wonderful location at the base of Baldy Mountain in the heart of Ketchum. Blessed with a helpful and courteous staff. I look forward to staying there again during the winter season.
We had an enjoyable hotel experience. The balcony off of our room was a nice place to enjoy the scenery. The room was clean and comfortable. Only things missing were a fridge and microwave. As a bonus, we saw a wolf walking across the road just off the parking lot from our room! THAT WAS COOL!!
We always look forward to our trip to the Best Western Tyrolean in Ketchum, ID. The staff are so helpful and cheerful. The hotel itself is clean and inviting. You can never go wrong by stay at the Tyrolean in Ketchum, Idaho.
We make two trips to Ketchum each year, one in the one in the spring and one in the fall. This is the only hotel in Ketchum that is pet friendly. This is a nice place, with a great hot tub and view of the mountains. The only thing I was disappointed with is that they now offer a buffet breakfast of scrambled eggs, bacon, biscuits and gravy and waffles. They no longer offer the really good breakfast sandwiches. Their coffee is awful!
We stay here frequently when in Ketchum. The staff is always welcoming and helpful. The lobby is a cozy, warm place where one can sit by the fire to drink coffee and read in early mornings and where families can come to play some of the offered games at the game tables. This motel has all the needed amenities, separate floor for those traveling with pets, is within walking distance to downtown shops and eateries. It is also within walking distance to ski areas. Always clean and has been updated. Great mattresses and showers. Breakfast area is clean and inviting.
The exterior is old and tired, but the rooms are very nice, and the staff were all very friendly. Rooms were quiet. The breakfast was also quite good. Biggest downside is that the floors are hardwood rather than carpet.
We loved this older BW property in Ketchum. It indeed has a decor that makes one think he might be in the Tyrol and the staff was pleasant and efficient. Our QQ room was on the small side, but worked great for us. The bathroom has a spacious counter at the basin and had good water pressure. Rarely does one get two suitcase stands in a room, but this room had two plus other good accroutements. The flat-screen TV is huge with an extensive choice of channels. The breakfast was just fine, and BW does a good job of always offering hot egg dishes and often a breakfast meat. The only demerit for this property is the lack of an elevator. We failed to have requested first floor accommodations, and those stairways were steep! For the area, this motel has favorable rates and it is certainly a comfortable place to stay.
This is a very expensive area but this facility is more reasonable in cost. I have stayed there two years in a row for this conference I go to and have been satisfied. Very clean and quiet. Friendly staff.
Our room was adequately clean, the hallways very narrow and dark, the breakfast food was very adequate and well presented. This motel is very near the Tramway; a person could actually walk to it. It is painted to represent an Austrian area Lodge.
