Best Western Plus Hotel Stofella

We spent 5 nights total at this hotel: 1 night at Hotel Stofella the night we arrived in Guatemala, before traveling to other parts of the country, and then at the end of our trip for another 4 nights. (We booked our trip through Guatemalan Adventure travel company and they selected our lodging and made all the reservations, so I don't know how much we actually paid for this hotel.) The staff was helpful and polite. The breakfast was the best of all the places we stayed; there was fresh fruit, typical foods like beans, rice, platano, different egg dishes, breads, juices, coffee, tea, other protein, etc. The room was clean, bed was comfortable, and there was a desk, a small refrigerator, complimentary water bottles daily, and a window that could be opened. We were on the 2nd floor and mostly took the stairs, but the very few times we took the elevator, it worked fine. There was a nice seating area on our floor, and another on the main floor at the entrance. I want to reiterate how nice the staff was. When we arrived for our 4 night stay, I had a queasy stomach (NOT from anything from Hotel Stofella's restaurant! ), and ended up with Montezuma's revenge. The cleaning crew was super accommodating on cleaning our room and bathroom. The hotel location is in a safe area, and a block down the street is a wonderful restaurant and bakery- San Martin.

I stayed here for 2 nights in December 2025. I would rate this hotel as either a very good 3 star, or a below average 4 star (I would have given 3.5 on here if I could). I found the hotel to be very characterful, unlike the other major hotel chains in Zona 10 which are high rises. The Best Western only has 4 floors, and the reception and restaurant area are decorated in the colonial style. The reception staff unfortunately didn't speak much English, but they were friendly and helpful. There was 1 lift which worked well, if a little slow. The wifi was pretty good throughout. Although the hotel style was colonial, my room was very modern. It was clean and a good size. The bed was a bit firm. There was a desk that had an extremely comfortable ergonomic chair. The storage space was good and there was a working safe. The bathroom was very clean and modern, but the fan made a huge sound. The shower was a good size and clean, but unfortunately the water temperature varied a lot when I had it at a fixed setting. The air conditioning in the room worked well. Breakfast was included, the spread wasn't huge but it was good enough. The highlight was a chef to make fresh eggs however you wanted. Otherwise there were the typical things you'd expect from a Central American buffet breakfast. There weren't really any western options, but that was fine and I wasn't expecting any. Overall my stay was very good, and I would probably stay here again if I came back to Guatemala City. This hotel is located in Zona 10, which is one of the safest ones. This unfortunately means that the area itself doesn't have much character, it's mostly international chains of fast food, coffee shops, and large malls. I did venture into Zona 1 (the very centre with the plaza and the Cathedral) which is safe-ish during the day, and while this has more character I would not want to stay in this area. Because of the unsafe areas, another downside of Guatemala City itself is having to Uber or taxi pretty much everywhere if you're venturing outside Zona 10.

Hotel is pleasant looking, rooms luck of maintance, the worse are the employees, they give an arrogant and cold indifference to the guest plus their unprofesional and irresponsable work shows and is very annoying. Will never come back hehere neither recommend

What a pleasant hotel in a hotel district within 15 minutes from the airport in Guatemala city. Very pleasant reception staff and everyone has been very friendly during my two nights stay at this hotel. Rooms are generous size, however varying in their layout. We are traveling with the group and have discovered there are lots of different designs of rooms. Only thing that is funny is that through the vent in the bathroom, I can hear other guests in their rooms - water running, toilet flushing, or someone's radio playing. The area seems quite safe, there is a ATM in the mall nearby and plenty of restaurants to choose from. I still gave this hotel a five because it has been very pleasant. Included in the stay has been a very generous, hot continental breakfast, where there is even a staff member to make omelettes to your order. The coffee is really good for U.S. standards.

Convenient hotel with all the essentials close to the centre of Guatemala City. The rooms are spacious and well equipped, but those on the ground floor can be noisey. When staying here make sure your room number starts with a number greater than one.

Beautiful hotel, very clean and comfortable. We really enjoyed our overnight stay. Very clean too. Plenty of restaurants close by. Staff were good, just the restaurant appeared a little disappointing, definitely not atmosphere. However well set up for buffet breakfast which is included. Highly recommend this hotel.

The staff are gracious. They seem proud of their work and happy to be there. The breakfast was elegantly served. Many selections all attractively presented. Fruit and yogurt available. The room was clean and comfortable. Optional air conditioning. Very quiet surroundings.

It was a nice hotel. Room is ok for a short stay and located in a heart of city with plenty of food options and etc. around. Breakfast is truly amazing with a live omelet station. Totally worth the price. Front desk staff could have been more friendlier.

10 minutes far from Guatemala City airport. Very good room and bathroom size. Clean. Comfortable mattress and pillows. Stable internet connection. Fixed showerhead, rainfall (no handheld showerhead). Power socket type B. Available in the room: hairdryer, iron/iron board, safe, power supply socket with usb type 2.1A on the side of the bed (power supply adapter needed for EU travellers if no usb devices). Amenities: shower gel and cream, soap. NO minibar/fridge. Complimentary coffee/camomile, water. TV: unable to use it even following the instructions. Staff very kind. Good breakfast from 6am, check-out 1pm. Vegetarian friendly options.

Dismal experience in every way. Be careful of crazy and fraudulent fees. My $80 quote turned into $122/night after taxes, fees, and ludicrous credit card exchange rate. And when you try to ask about them, the manager gives a terrible explanation in Spanish. If you don't speak Spanish, you definitely don't want to stay here. There is a nice young man Julian who can speak fairly well, but NO ONE in any department can assist in English. No one even bothered to tell me about nice things like the warm fruit juice that is available. It's like they are afraid of gringos and don't want to help us. As for the facility itself, it's aging - torn and dirty carpets in the hallway, shower area has dark residue (from not cleaning). And if you are expecting not to be hassled by peddlers out the front door - then don't stay here (see the photo). There are respectable local hotels for a fraction of the price nearby. Don't be lured in by the BEST WESTERN logo. The corporate people in USA were not much of a help either. DO NOT STAY HERE; it's not worth the extra money.

Hotel room has no windows. And air conditioner is old and it prevents sleep because its so noisy. Turn off the AC and the air is hot and humid and horrible sleep:. Front desk said take it or leave it and as its almost midnight so I am stuck. Avoid this 3rd world facility.

I'm a Best Western Diamond Level member and I was happy to book this hotel on a recent visit to Guatemala City. The hotel was very busy but the staff were friendly and attentive. We had a salad at the restaurant located on the property , it was fresh and delicious. Our server was Otto, he was new, but he was excellent and our food order served promptly. The room was very clean and modern. We were very pleased and would recommend it to any of our friends. The location is especially good. It is in the heart of Zone 10, central to numerous excellent restaurants, business addresses, and the airport. We loved it and are grateful to the staff for their professional service.

Excellent all round stay staff very friendly plus English speaking staff available as my Spanish is woeful room very good clean and tidy bedding changed every day. Location very good right in middle of zone 10 near to places with In walking distance of shops and restaurants also the Oakland Mall just down road. Breakfast good plenty of choice for a good start of the day. The gym is small but has enough equipment to get a workout plus a rack of free weights overall everything good would stay again

Nice hotel near lots of restaurants and shops, also about 15 minutes away from the airport. The staff is very helpful and willing to solve any problems in a positive manner. The restaurant staff was nice also and the breakfast was very good, would stay here again.

This was a very convenient overnight stop before an early morning flight. The staff were great and arranged to-go lunch boxes and a taxi for our 3:30am departure to the airport which was only 10 minutes away. Lots of western and fast food options within a five minute walk including Applebys, TGIF, MacDonalds, Burger King and Pappa Johns. Lots of other hotels in the neighbourhood, but Best Western offered the best price for our overnight purposes.

My husband and I stayed here in December 2022 and when we arrived we were put in a room just behind the front desk. The room was the size of a closet facing a brick wall! Definitely not the room we booked which was a standard room. When we asked to get another standard room we were told it was fully booked and had to pay an extra $20 American!! With no choice and being tired after 2 flights we paid the extra fee. We booked this hotel months ago as we were there for a wedding. The room we got after paying an additional 20 dollars was nothing great and located by the hallway near the elevators and stairs. All night and early morning we could hear people walking and talking. There is a reason hotel hallways have carpeting!!! Plus! The hotel was definitely not fully booked as we noticed the next day. We stayed there the last night here as well as it was already booked and this time ended up in a tiny room with a window facing inside the hallway and the restaurant. So if our curtains were open people could literally look inside! Just crazy. Overall, the hotel is in a very good and safe location. Its clean and most staff are very nice. Be aware of this shady business. This is how the front desk staff are making extra money on the side and cheating you!

We arrived at the hotel after our long flights, and found a small, well appointed hotel in the middle of the commercial district. It was our introduction to Guatemala. The staff were very helpful. Our group stayed on the 4th floor; some had an exterior view, others did not, but that was not important. The bathrooms were well equipped with thick wonderful towels, bathrobes and amenities. The rooms were well lit, the beds comfortable with several pillows. The breakfast buffet was well stocked with fresh fruit, eggs of your choice, porridge, fried plantains, refried beans, juice, and plentiful coffee and tea. Altogether, we stayed 3 nights at the hotel and were very satisfied with the service. On our return trip, some of us used the 4th floor lounge, which served a modified breakfast and late afternoon coffee and tea.

On the 13th July I stayed with my family at Best Western Stofella in Guatemala City. I had booked a triple room with exterior views at a cost of 90USD. I was given instead a tiny room that could have well been the broom room in the past, with no windows, and with the door directly opening to the breakfast/rest area which ensured noise from 6:00 to 23:00 and gave no privacy at all. When asked at the reception whether we could have a room similar to the one in the pictures of our reservation I was replied I could for an additional price. I really feel fooled for the price I paid and feel the room description isn't accurate nor honest. Futhermore and previously this bad experience I had booked another night on 22th july at the same hotel. The booking machine assigned me one smoking room. In the remarks I suggested to the hotel whether it was feasible to have a NON smoking room. The answer from the staff was that I had to pay and extra of 23 $. After the first bad experience I cancelled the second booking. Everything is documented from my part. I asked explanations to the hotel but no one from this organization did not take the trouble to respond me. I strongly do not recommend this hotel at all

I'm currently staying at the Best Western hotel...it's awesome and great to have some English speaking individuals to exchange words with though most of them speaks Spanish. The room wasn't so fancy, however I gotta say in a cold environment the water system is amazing, quick water heating and a amazing electric system that operates by just leaving your door card in the system by the door and it give the room it's electricity. Apart from that experience. Great employees and a wonderful chef and great servers. Would be 5star if they actually have bilingual employees but thanks to Google translation all went well.

The hotel itself is fine, reasonably close to the airport; this is essential due to the horrific traffic during rush hours in this overcrowded city. But Do Not Eat here. Their restaurant is likely to become known as Worst Western Plus soon. With a limited menu, you'd think their cooks could handle the entrees, but that is not the case--they are incompetent and amateurish at best. We attempted to order pizzas but after a few minutes were told we'd have to wait 2 hours since the oven was broken. So we ordered some pasta entrees listed, and were served inaccurate items and very poorly prepared food. Stay here if you want, but eat at one of the nearby chain restaurants instead. The Best Western chain will truly be ashamed if they check out their restaurant on this property.

it was terrible experience. room was second floor . View was nothing but most terrible thing was it is gym view. I didn't aware someone in the Gym can see my room. Nobody informed to me. after wake up in the morning I found someone can see my room in the Gym. Restaurant was small and staffs was nice but food was terrible. Cook didn't know how can cook Omelet and food was not filled on time. Air conditioner was not work well also.

Exceptionally clean and comfortable hotel. Centrally located in Guatemala City, minutes to the airport and within walking distance of a great variety of restaurants and shopping. Parking on site. 24 hour security. English speaking staff is attentive to whatever you might need. Comfortable beds, super hot showers, good WiFi. Definitely recommend for families and both business and leisure travelers.

Every time I visit Guatemala City I stay in this Hotel, I like the service of the nice and kind staff, and the Hotel is near to many places of interest, airport, malls and restaurants, and is located in a very safe zone.

Love this hotel! It is like home away from home! Have been staying here since 2006 and they have maintained their consistency. The hotel has great water pressure, and it gets super hot if you want it to. The included continental breakfast is sufficient and the hotel staff are kind and warm. If you need to park your car or microbus, its is under camera security and the bellhop is always a few feet away 24/7. This hotel often times has prices that dip unusually low (especially during the COVID-19 chaos), and sometimes you can't believe the price you pay. It is a very clean and elegant hotel with touch of nostalgia and history.

I like this hotel. It is convenient and close to everything I need. Rooms are always clean. They even helped me to sort out an issue with an online travel company, Ex***** whom did everything they could to not give me my money back for a (mistake) double booking. I tried immediately to correct it but finally boxed them into a corner enough to have them finally agree to cancel after countless phone calls over 17 days. Upon check in, I found they didn't even bother to cancel the double booking which made them look even more disingenuous. Thank you Hotel Stofella . Sorry for the double booking

The hotel is located in Zona 10, close to restaurants (there is a McDonals next door and a San Martin a block away), shopping centers and the Avenida Reforma street. They let us check in early, the front desk was really nice to accommodate us, we were tired from a long trip and had our baby with us. Room Service and breakfast is not the best, I recommend you get a room without breakfast included and eat outside. The hotel is very cozy, very comfortable beds and the rooms are very cozy. They also let you print bus or flight tickets at no charge, I printed like 10 pages and they did not charge me. I recommend this hotel.

When we arrived at the hotel we were very well received. Check in was quick and the front desk staff was very attentive, giving directions on where we wanted to go. Our beautiful colonial-style room was clean, comfortable, but on the first floor and had no lift. I've been thinking: when we made the reservation we were not asked if we had limitations to climb stairs. When I asked if we could have a room without climbing stairs, they said yes, but it would cost 10 US dollars. The night was horrible, because the hotel is on the route of planes that arrive and leave the airport, and fly very low. In addition there was the noise of a party with very loud sound and explosions of fireworks, until 4:00 in the morning. Breakfast is reasonable, but there was a group playing very loud local music, not allowing conversation. The restaurant staff are also friendly and attentive.

I have stayed here many times passing through Guatemala City. The location is good and I feel safe here. This time some of the staff was accommodating, but others were a little icy and put off by questions. My room was a little bit overlooked. I had no coffee for the coffeemaker. I also stepped on somebody's fake nail that was left on the floor. The breakfast has always been good, but the guy making cook to order eggs repeatedly shook the tip can at me and the other guests, which was extremely obnoxious and off-putting. Rooms can be a bit noisy depending on where you end up.
