Best Western Hotel Herman Bang

A fantastic hotel with very friendly reception staff and bar staff. Well located in the main street with many shops and restaurants close by. Breakfast has a lot of choices, hot and cold. Room TV has a wide selection of channels in both Danish and English and many sports channels. I would recommend this hotel for all including families.

Wonderful hotel. Very friendly staff, good food and drinks. Absolutely I recoment this hotel. I look forward to come back.

Was placed in a small room in a building located a few minutes walk away from reception and breakfast area. Nightclubs in the neighborhood and drunk people screaming and yelling until 5 in the morning. Awful night

I have previously stayed twice at the Best Western Herman Bang and found the hotel to be excellent. The staff were great, the rooms were very spacious, modern, and nicely decorated. The restaurant was very good, and the breakfast buffet offered a fantastic selection. Unfortunately, I was quite disappointed with my most recent stay in a room on the second floor. The room was well below the standard I had come to expect from this hotel – it was absolutely tiny. The bathroom was so cramped that I could practically sit on the toilet, brush my teeth in the (tiny) basin, and have a shower all at once (OK, a slight exaggeration, but you get the idea). The bedroom itself felt more like student accommodation than a hotel room. It also had a strange smell and was incredibly noisy. The noise travelled so much between rooms either side that I could constantly hear running taps, extractor fans, and toilets being used in the rooms either side. On top of that, the door alarms were a constant source of disturbance – they beeped whenever someone left their door slightly ajar. It was particularly irritating when guests stood around chatting in the corridor while the alarms continued to sound. In the end, I had to go out and shut one of the doors myself – much to the embarrassment of the guests involved. After such positive previous experiences, this visit was a real let-down. I'm genuinely looking forward to getting home for a proper night's sleep. That said, I do feel partly responsible, as I booked the room assuming it would be of the same quality as those I'd stayed in before.

We stayed 2 couples for 2 nights and service was fine. We had wine at the room which we could take to the very nice lounge with fine furnitures and TV. Food was very good and they have a nice café during the day and also used for dining in the evening. Also a bar is open all day. We can recommend.

Fantastic visit in a unique atmosphere. Thank you at Team Herman Bang for an amazing stay with high quality service, wonderful breakfast with homemade specialities. Beautiful light rooms with everything you need. The hotel exceeds expectations and could easily be compared with 4 or 5 stars hotels, due to the service in all areas. More than value for money is the key word! Can't wait to be back.

I picked this hotel based on it's location and my previous experience with other Best Western hotels, We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights. The staff members were all very helpful. I have stayed in 2 other Best Western hotels in America and this stay has been my first time staying in a Best Western hotel in Europe. I was a bit disappointed with the breakfast buffet. I was expecting there to be eggs, sausages, bacon and potatoes in the buffet but the only thing warm that was served was coffee. There were different types of bread, ham and cheese. There's also choices of fruits and cereal. Overall the breakfast was decent. This hotel was labeled wheelchair accessible but I had to ask one of the staff members to get their removable wooden ramp for my friend who is in a wheelchair to get in and out of the hotel and also to get in and out of their restaurant for the breakfast buffet. They only had one ramp for 2 entrances so the ramp had to be carried into the restaurant entrance. They were very helpful but I just feel bad having to ask for help every time.

The hotel was very nice, an old building in the city center and very near the harbour, the room was very clean and ok for that price. The staff very gentle, the parking was behind the hotel for 95 DDK per day, all to all a nice stay and a clean environment

We had to go outside to change our minds as the rooms are very small. The hotel staff are excellent and assisted with an issue with BW points accounting. Parking is a bit limited but there is overflow just across the road. The restaurant and attached cafe are very good and the cafe has some of the best coffee in Denmark. The hotel is in a great location.

My husband and I spent two nights here. Nice hotel, we enjoyed our stay very much. Good breakfast, with great variety including gluten free bread. Had dinner at their restaurant and the food was very good. Very friendly staff. The hotel offered free coffee and tea throughout the day.

Centrally located, on walking distance from railway station and ferry harbour. Nice staff, clean and modern room, excellent breakfast. Yardside view of parking lot is not very inspiring, and my single room was a bit cramped, but I would anyway visit them again and can recommend the hotel.

We booked a room for one night and everything was great. Nice scandinavian styled rooms and friendly staff. The room was a bit hot and dry though but luckily we could just open the window. Breakfast had everything you would crave: scrambled eggs, bacon, pancakes, different kind of bread, ginger shots etc. Location of hotel couldnt be better - right in the city center and there is an American restaurant and a spa connected to the hotel. Parking fee for 1 day is dkk 85. Will be back !

Great little hotel, very centrally located in Frederikshavn. Walking distance from the ferry terminal, and only steps from shops, restaurants, train station. I was upgraded to a suite, which was an unexpected delight. I was really a room, but a very nice room with a four poster bed and a sofa. Generous servings of tea and coffee, kettle and cups. Beautiful and huge bathroom with free standing tub as well as a walk in shower. There was even a tv in the bathroom. I liked the fact that I could open the windows to let some fresh air in. In sunny weather the room fot very hot. There is a fan though, in case you need it. There was an iron as well, and an ironing board. Due to the pandemic, the room wasn't automatically cleaned every day, but you could always have a change of towels, a refill of coffee or toilet paper whenever needed. There was a little sign to hang on the doorknob if in fact you needed the room to be cleaned anyway. One thing to take into consideration is that even though there is an elevator, you may still need to climb some stairs to get to your room. In case you have mobility issues, it might be a good idea to make sure when you book to avoid problems. All members of staff that I met during my stay were super friendly and helpful, so I am sure they would do their best to help. Finally the breakfast. great coffe, several types of juice, ginger shots, you name it! Continental style, but with some addition of hot dishes. Fantastic bread and pastries. I absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Frederikshavn.

The hotel is very central and the personal was very helpful and nice. We have had breakfast and dinner and the kitchen, specially the dinner was over our expectations. Delicious Our bathroom was bit tiny but nice and very good organised. We enjoyed our stay a lot

We stayed at a BnB run by Best Western in Fredrikshavn Denmark and the two managers there were the most rude and unhelpful managers that I have ever had the displeasure to meet. The webpage advertised a shared lounge/tv area, a games area - pool table and table football, a tv in the room and coffee making facilities. NONE of these were at our BnB! They removed the games area, the shared tv lounge and the coffee making facilities, and the tv in our room didn't work. We were traveling with two young children so were relying on these things to make our stay easier. When we told the manager about this, she just replied “Check out then!” Neither the old woman that we spoke to or the other manager called Lars tried to help us at all. It was the worst service I've ever received at a hotel/hostel/BnB, and I've travelled to over 30 countries. DO NOT STAY HERE! They should be ashamed and sacked.

When making the booking, the hotel said that it only had business rooms available so we had to upgrade by paying 27 euro per person per night. However, the hotel was clearly empty when we arrived. Moreover, the parking is over 10 euro per night which is not specified anywhere. We had an offer of "alt går i fisk" which meant that all our meals were covered. However, the restaurant doesn't offer any vegetarian or fish meals whatsoever. Overall, horribly overpriced for the experience.

The hotel is lovely, food is excellent and most importantly the staff is very helpful, polite and kind. We recommend this hotel without hesitation to anyone visiting this beautiful area of Denmark. Well done!

having stayed at the same hotel again on another business trip i am able to report that the next hotel room was a lot better than the last (417) i believe that this was one of the best rooms in the hotel and was exactly what you want from a hotel. nice layout, decent size bathroom and a comfy bed, however please read below as rooms do vary and this was a lot better. the hotel was of a reasonable standard and the staff were very nice. there was a couple of little problems with the room i had (219), 1- the bathroom extractor fan sounded like a jet engine was about to take off next to me. 2- there was no heater in the bathroom so when you got up in the night or in the morning to use the toilet or the shower, it was absolutely freezing. apart from this the room was ok, the breakfast was nothing special, the usual bread and cereals with one little station for some very salty and well cooked bacon, some scrambled eggs and some very small sausages.

Queen bed room was one of the smallest I have ever slept in. The bed however, was an adequate queen. The bathroom was super tiny. Glad I am not supersized. There was a strange smell in the room. Not sure if that was from an odourizer or from the carpet. Breakfast buffet is huge and I really like their "meet the locaks" concept.

Very clean hotel with interesting decor in each room. Always a pleasant surprise to see your room and enjoy the furnishings. Interesting artwork too. Check in and check out went very smoothly and the rooms was surprisingly quite for a downtown location. The breakfast buffet was excellent, with many choices and great coffee!

The hotel is in a old building i central Frederikshavn. The room was great but bathroom is very small. The restaurant was great, with a nice range of steakhouse food. Breakfast is good and plenty. The room had no air con. And that will be horrible in the summertime. But all in all. A nice stay

Good value for the money. Close to the city, good restaurant. Quiet rooms with internet and international tv channels. Stuff is very nice and helpful. I will be back next time I have to stay in Frederikshavn.

Very flexible check-in, and nice sorrundings. We liked the layout in the room, only downside was the lack of aircon in the room. This hotel is situated in the very center of town - very close to everything. Good and cosy bar - and breakfast sorrundings. I would definitely use this hotel again ,and I would recommend this to friends etc !

Room was clean and hotel itself silent, but due to heat we must keep the window open at night and backyard was noisy in the morning as there was trucks loading food to the restaurant and emptying trash bins. No cleaning between our two nights. To get an iron and ironing board was a bit tricky task because we needed to search it by ourselves in some storage room (no delivery to room).

Very small room. OK breakfast, but no scrambled eggs. In the center of Frederikshavn. Nice staff. Stayed for one night on a business trip. The single rooms have a single bed - and the rooms are very small.

Friendly and helpfull staff. The breakfast is very delicious with lot to choose from. The rooms are cleaned every day and appear very clean. Definitely my favourite hotel in Frederikshavn. I've stayed there several times and have never been dissapointed in any way,

Cozy hotel. Everything is very clean. We stayed one night and had a good rest. Breakfast is variated and very good. Rooms are clean an service is nice too. We arrived late at night and could still put in an order for food in the restaurant. Big bonus. Personally I enjoyed this hotel.

Really good hotel in a good central location for the town. Rooms are clean and well presented with a wide selection of tv available for non Danish guests. Nicely presented breakfast if maybe a bit limited but this is a not bad standard for Denmark. Staff are very helpful and pleasant. Adjoining anerican diner style restaurant is also pretty good.

I booked this and expected to sleep well that usually happens at hotels. Our view was to the charming street - but in the middle of the night there started to be more and more drunk people yelling and loud music. For the record, it was a Saturday night. I woke up several times because of the yelling. The windows would need double glass. I would not stay here again but the breakfast was really good (without it I would give only one star). The atmosphere was relaxed and there was just enough things to choose from. Coffee, breads and juices were excellent.

Classic exterior and reception area with high ceilings with welcoming candle lit windows & tables. Rustic tones with bright clean spaces with large windows in the public rooms. Wide brightly lit corridors with large windows to all rooms. A family friendly hotel with a special welcoming style.

Rooms are correct and clean with some modern touch, however they might feel a bit small. Breakfast was certainly a deligth, much of choice, fresh and overall good buffet! Ideal for being close to the main shopping street and just a step down from the ferries. Absolute easy access and parking at the back of the hotel. Also it has a joined entry with the next door restaurant, excellent if you are too tired to walk further down the road.

I stayed here for a 2 day business trip. The room was small but comfortable. Nice bathroom with lots of space. As for the bed, it's a bit small but with a good bed spring. What annoyed me was the TV, it has a bright blue led on the front that shines very bright when it is in standby and I couldn't figure out how to switch it off completely. Breakfast is good with a lot of choice. I had dinner in the restaurant and this was really good. Very well cooked meat and salads accompanied it. For drinks you can just grab some from the refrigerator which is downstairs next to the lobby and after 5 they served cookies!! Overall a decent place, good food and friendly people.

Late check-in went without problems; the hotel was easy to find, coming from the ferry terminal. The room was perfectly adequate for a good night's sleep. Internet connection included in the room rate worked very well which was a nice surprise. Breakfast was tasty and inlcuded both warm and cold dishes. Upon arrival there was no assistance given with luggage and during check-out the staff was unable to verify whether or not a booking paid via hotels.com was in fact paid or not. It was slightly unnerving to be suspected of not having paid for the room and one was left feeling confused as to why the hotel accepts bookings and payments from the site if the staff cannot confirm the status of the booking. Parking was located behind the building; I would recommend checking if there is a space for you left as the lot was already nearly full around 10 PM.

but unfortunately management fails. Three important things did not function in our room and gave a bad impression. The handle to the glass sliding door to the toilet was loose and threatened to fall on the floor. The door could not be closed and slipped up. The water in the sink wanted to stay in the sink when we wanted it to flush. Clean floor but no attention to other surfaces. The breakfast and the location is ok but sorry not returning.

I needed a room. I was told only one left in the annex building 2 blocks from the main one. They said: same quality, same price. I took it. As soon as I walked to the annex the very same room was advertised by the door half price. (Picture enclosed) Bad business. The building is old, run down, not really clean. Bed is really uncomfortable. Breakfast is mediocre. Can't recommend. For even better price there are many better options in Frederikshavn. I'm sorry, I made a mistake. Won't happen again.

We planed to stay a couple of nights here as hotel room, facilities and breakfast was perfect nothing there to complain about. Unfortunately they had only rooms facing the street available and as it was a Friday night we could not sleep a wink! Restaurant below attracts many drunk youngsters, cars driving through all night! And as room was terribly hot we had to have window open. Unfortunately we had to change hotel next morning. Pity as we really liked this hotel.

I have stayed at the hotel numerous times over the past years and have always been treated kindly and professionally. Located right in Frederikshavn, which can cause a bit of noise, but at the same time many different restaurents and bars. The hotel serves a really good breakfast buffet.
