Best Best Western in the USA Under the direction and management of Nicole Rocha this Best Western is the very best in the United States. The staff is the very best trained and most helpful than any other Best Western I have ever been. When we arrived we were gracefully and happily greeted by Alice Machen. She was extremely helpful and expecting us. “We were staying there for my mom's 100th birthday.) Alice advised us that others in our group had already arrived and who had not arrived yet. The next day at the breakfast room our Breakfast Host Jessie kept the breakfast room stocked and fresh. When my brother came in with a walker Jessie helped him in and gave him coffee. She also offered to get his breakfast and bring it to him. Jessie went well above what is expected and she is very personable and helpful She is a great asset to Best Western! Our last day breakfast was hosted by Hanna. She was tirelessly and enthusiastically keeping everything stocked in the dinning area, keeping all of the food hot and the area clean. Great job!
Great spot to stay in Fortuna and within walking distance of local brewery restaurant and Riverwalk hiking trail. Gasoline and convenience store are nearby. Great spot for traveling with dogs. We've stayed here on several occasions over the years and the hotel is always clean and friendly.
Stayed in the suite with a living room. Perfect for family, bathroom is not inside anyone's sleeping space. I did hear breakfast room setup through the wall early a m., but that was the only noise. Many breakfast items, good coffee. Kind employees. Walking path along the river across the street!
Always great service! Staff is super friendly and helpful. Still the best hotel breakfast anywhere in Northern California. Rooms are super clean and the shower works great. Missed out on the homemade cookies this trip but Christmas is an exception.
Good value for the money. Front desk is friendly, greeted us with a smile. She is corteous and seems to enjoy what she does. It is so wonderful to be greeted like this. We booked a double queen, which was more spacious than most places I've been. The room looked and smelled clean. The surrounding was quiet and clean as well. We had a dining table and chairs for two which is a rarity for rooms in this price range. We had a decent, satisfying meal of udon soup at the Koma Restaurant, about 5 min from the inn. We are here to hike trails and see big redwood trees and soak the ocean breeze, so if that is what you are into, I would highly recommend this place.
The hotel was great, very pet friendly which we loved, had a decent breakfast included with the stay, great front desk staff, clean room, we were a large family group with multiple rooms and we all enjoyed our stay.
The hotel is very nice for a best Western. The room was very clean, comfortable. I got the king size room, no smoking. The only reason I gave it a four out of five is because I wish the water pressure was a little more. If you have a lot of hair, it would take quite some time to wash your hair, but for a normal shower it was fine and there was plenty of hot water. The room itself was very clean. The hotel was very clean. The breakfast offered in the mornings was wonderful and the ladies who kept the area clean did a wonderful job. This hotel is dog friendly, but the people seem to clean up after themselves, which is really nice. I would highly recommend this Western for family, business trips, just a chance to get out.
This is a great hotel in a great location and beauty all around. There is a great trail for walking and biking not to mention a lot of great places to eat. The Eel River Brewery is a two-minute walk from the hotel. Bring the family and have a great time in Fortuna!
This is the cutes little place, the pool and spa area is just charming. The foliage is well maintained with many beautiful flowers. There are two Estefani's working the front desk and both are very nice and helpful. We had our morning coffee and tea from a little place in Fortuna called Shots, it was very good. We then walked along the river walk just across from the hotel. Breakfast was very nice with meatless offerings and great yogurt with strawberries and pecans. The rooms are very clean and comfortable, you are far enough from the 101 traffic noise is not an issue and sleep was good. I highly recommend this location, just keep driving, you won't be disappointed.
The staff is always friendly and helpful. The bed is comfortable, I got a good nights sleep. BW Fortuna is my home away from home. The rooms are clean and have all the amenities needed. The location is a chill area and is very relaxing.
We stay at this property every time we are in the area. Smiling, friendly staff; exceptionally clean rooms and well-maintained grounds—the experience never fails to be anything other than exceptional.
Very friendly people, good breakfast. Area was amazing, great scenery and history. Beach near by. The hotel's breakfast area was cleaned constantly and stocked always. Room service was phenomenal, loved everything.
This hotel was a surprise for me. I typically stay at Marriotts and was expecting the hotel to be not up to their standards. I was definitely wrong. The room and overall property was very clean. The only real downside was that the breakfast area was too small for the number of guests staying there.
The room was clean, pool was clean. The price was the cheapest out of the three Best Westerns in the area, but that didn't mean cheap hotel. Breakfast was ok, lots of selection. Parking needs expansion.
Very clean and quiet hotel located half way between Eureka and the Avenue of the Giants. The staff were very polite and gave us suggestions on where to eat out for dinner. The morning breakfast was fantastic.
Stayed 1 night - unfortunately it was a Saturday and motel fully booked with families. Neighbours above and to the side were really noisy until midnight. Room ok - basic, dark with strong (annoying) smell of carpet cleaner. Best bit was the comfy bed and being able to drive to Ferndale which was a lovely suprise- with hindsight we should have stayed there.
Rooms are always well cleaned, warm or cool depending on the climate you prefer, comfortable, and fairly well sound-proofed. There is a generous window in the mornings for the self-service breakfast, which has various options and good coffee. The grounds are lovely, as are the views across the way: mountains, Eel River Valley, and a field of grazing cows.
A hotel that is rated a 2 star but I felt it should be closer to 3. The room was sufficient. Work table. Decent size TV. Amenities were great. Laundry facility onsite. Indoor/outdoor pool with available spa (and an available room with jacuzzi tub). Business center. Breakfast included for those who can. Friendly staff. Quiet location and nearby stores/restaurants.
We loved this super clean, pleasant atmosphere, well cared for motel. The staff were wonderful, great food, hot tub in good working order. We had absolutely no complaints and would have loved to stay longer.
Pleasant property, clean, well-maintained, well laid out, nice landscaping. Rooms had all the amenities, good beds, clean and quiet. Close enough to walk to restaurants. Loved that we could park right outside our door. Staff helpful and friendly.
The Best Western Country Inn is a good option for a stay in Fortuna. The room featured a fridge, microwave, HD TV with lots of channels and free Wi-Fi. The complimentary breakfast was nice with the option to build your own tortilla with spicy chorizo, scrambled eggs, breakfast potatoes and cheese. Other items included biscuits & gravy, pancakes, cereal, oatmeal, yoghurt, apples, oranges and bananas.
This is one of our top hotels for the area. It is clean, pet and kid friendly. Dog park is down the street or the riverwalk is across the street. Pool is clean and maintained. Breakfast is tasty and includes bacon. Miss the waffles but they have pancakes.
This stay was completely quiet beautiful property with outstanding people to assist in every situation the rooms are excellent the breakfast liberating not to mention the check in Kona coffee and cookies beautiful landscaping and bbq areas this is a must stop….enjoy
Our room was clean and comfortable. Super friendly staff! Motel is within minutes to local attractions (like beaches and Avenue of the Giants Redwoods), so staying here was very convenient! Will stay here again!!
I chose this hotel based on its location. It is just 20 min drive to Eureka and/or Ave of the Giants. It's also a good point to go down to the lost coast. Staff were mostly friendly and helpful but I found the breakfast to be too simple, albeit free. The scrambled egg reminded me of school cafeteria that we always joked about being from powder, the bacon was the thinnest I've ever seen, thin as a sheet of paper. But they had the standard varieties and the 6-10 hours are very sensible. I also disliked the hardware (tables and chairs, toilet and tub shower)
Of all the hotels I have stayed at, this B W ranks at the very top for all the great comfort, cleanliness, safe location, best breakfast, great indoor/outdoor pool, with a green picnic area with a BBQ! This is the place to come to and relax at. I greatly wish I had spent more time here.
This hotel was a short stop on a long road trip before heading into the redwoods and then San Fran. It was in a great location. Check in was quick and easy. The grounds are beautiful and well-kept. The room is well-appointed for this type of hotel. The queen/king suite fit our family of 5 well. Breakfast was great- the area was well stocked and extremely neat and clean. We enjoyed a nice walk along the river in the morning before heading out. We would absolutely stay again!
Rooms are clean but dark, needs more lighting. The TV was not working the weekend I checked-in, but I was given a discount and it was resolved the next day. Breakfast is as expected. Sausage, bacon, eggs, biscuits and gravy. I recommend serving sausages instead of the chorizo. The breakfast area was clean. I extended my stay for a third night because I loss sleep due to the noise outside and inside the room. It was summer and the children were running around. Also too many worker trucks but it is safe. I would come back here again.
Hotel location is good. Bed is of perfect stiffness and overall clean room and bathroom. Guest rooms were ok. Quite basic. Fridge was off due to energy savings, but no markers on the knob to adjust coldness. The coffee and other amenities were really basic. The warming light timer in the bathroom was broken and the bathroom fan was really noisy. I asked for an extension and was refused for 'staffing' reasons. For $230 a night, my expectation was a lot more.
Our room was huge and super clean. The internet was surprisingly fast. The pool was beautiful, it's half inside and half outside and it's only 5 feet deep which was great for the kids. The free cookies and coffee in the lobby was our favorite part. We all really enjoyed our stay.
Third stay at this hotel. Again, was not disappointed. Very clean and well maintained hotel. Far enough off the 101 offramp to be quiet. Good breakfast selection and two restaurants walking distance. Would stay again.
Our stay at the Best Western in Fortuna was exceptional. I have no connection with anyone at this motel, so my observations are completely unbiased. Everything was in order. The grounds were very well maintained. The service was excellent. The room was clean, quiet, and big. More importantly, the staff was excellent. You could tell by the way they communicated with each other and guests that they were a team, who respected each other and had all bought into the "team" idea. There obviously is some great management/leadership at this location (maybe you should be looking here when you have your next corporate position to fill). Furthermore, there is obviously some great ownership at work here. It was apparent that ownership has invested the resources that demonstrate a belief in the future of this property, as opposed to trying to milk a property as it fades. Our stay was so enjoyable that I only considered Best Western properties for my next night's stay as we made our way up the Oregon coast on Hwy 101. I only wish our next night's stay was as enjoyable. The only piece of advice I would give would be to heat the swimming pool a couple of degrees warmer.
Victoria and Kim at the front desk always provided exceptional service and made me feel welcome. Victoria is a shining example of how to make someone feel like a guest and not a customer. Hospitality at its finest. I will never forget my experience.
Wonderful hospitality and professionalism. Love this hotel. Kim was great help and breakfast was wonderful. Thank you again Kim!! The location is right off the 101 which is great too. Rooms are very spacious and clean!!
This is a good hotel to stay if you are travelling along the California coast. Staff were friendly and worked with me to find a quiet room as requested. I had stayed once before and found on both visits that this is a very popular hotel with truck drivers (not 18-wheelers - more like delivery trucks) and construction workers. As others have noted this can mean that the parking lot is full. I was pleasantly surprised by how quiet the hotel was. Some of the workers had gathered outside for a barbecue in the evening but were very quiet and even in the morning when I expected noise from the large pick up and commercial vehicles starting I was surprised that I was not woken up. My visit was on a cold night in February and I would worry more about noise on a warm summer night. Even with all of the lights on in the room it was a bit dark but the bed was comfortable and the breakfast was decent. The property felt safe. One nice feature is that you could reach inside the fridge and turn it off so you did not have to deal with the noise of the compressor all night. Overall I would recommend if you need somewhere to stop for a night while passing through.
We love this hotel the best in Fortuna. We have stayed at others and they were run down. Our room was ready when we arrived and we love the spa room! Breakfasts are yummy even when they were not having the buffet available.
We arrived on a Friday night as we were passing through while moving. We had a small Uhaul trailer with us. When we arrived we were told at check in we would have to park across the street on the street. We refused and were told that was the only option. We asked for a refund and we're told that we would get one if the room sold. Apparently, it didn't as we were still charged for a room we never even saw.
Cozy hotel, lots of workers staying here. 3rd time I have been here, close to a couple good restaurants, brewery is good and the Italian is really good. Staff Friendly and fairly quiet for as close to the freeway as it is.
Each and Every time we stay at this location it is beyond perfection and superior!! The staff works hard and are very proud of this. So they should be!! Breakfast room is impeccable. Food is great! Grounds are beautiful, Maintence is johnny on the spot if need be! Housekeeping is amazing!!! Many thanks to all of you!!
If I chose to stay at BW again I will inquire about the company/constructions vehicles staying at the time of my visit. I could not find any parking at all and have to park on the road. Walking in the dark made me feel very unsafe. I chose to stay here due to the proximity of the room to my car. It was very noisy due to all the construction workers drinking and smoking outside their rooms. I did not complain because I didn't want any negative percussions.
Clean rooms, friendly staff, easy check in and check out, and great location. This was our second time staying here and we would definitely stay again. Also, you should get the jacuzzi room...totally worth it :)
I was greeted and welcomed by Amanda the Front Desk Associate, It was such a beautiful day that I took along trek to the Best Western Country Inn 2025 Riverwalk Dr. Fortuna Ca. 95540-9552. I had a little problem with my accessing my account on my phone because of a relaxing walk. I quickly stared to panic but Amanda saved the Day with her professional tech support. Her wise words guided me to a quick solution And I was on to my lovely evening with all of the Amenities. It seemed se gathered the staff together to make me know I was a valued customer. Whenever I visit California or Southern Oregon and can take a relaxing but spirited drive along HWY 101 with the breathtaking Fall scenery I will remember Amanda and the Staff of the Best Western Country were just as beautiful as a Northern California Sunday Sunset! I plan on retuning with family from abroad to show the beauty of America's Northern Pacific Coast.
Very clean rooms, friendly staff, comfy beds, really good breakfast with many options. Property is clean and well cared for. The room was spotless and they are clearly following ALL COVID guidelines, which is much appreciated. Would recommend and stay here again. AND, they are pet friendly!!!!
This Best Western Country Inn is an excellent place to stay weather on vacation or working. The place is kept up and improvements are always being made. The staff is extremely friendly, helpful, respectful, and go out of there way to help you in any way. The Breakfast is very good and the breakfast area kept extremely clean and the food is hot. You can also make your own pancakes. Can't ask for anything else.
The breakfast at this hotel was better than any free breakfast I've had since the pandemic started. The food was hot (eggs, sausage, potatoes, 2 kinds of breakfast burritos), and you could serve yourself. Lots of other options like pancakes, yogurt, toast, juice, etc. Our room was very clean and the beds were comfortable. The bathroom was a little small.
This is a great hotel if looking for something near Fortuna and Rio Dell its really nice we stayed here cause we have family in Rio Dell. And plus we wanted to go to the ocean had to also go into the cemetery. So it was the perfect place and we like BW
A bit pricey for a Best Western, though the room was clean (they do need some additional lighting in the room though). The property was jumping when we got there - tons of people running around, in the pool, etc. but quieted down by the time we went to bed. A short distance to food options and Starbucks, but a lot of the restaurants nearby were closed by 6pm when we were looking for food so it was slim pickings. There also may be permanent guests that stay there - there was an old man with a cat in the room next to us that seem to live there. He talked to us every time we left our room. I think he was just lonely. One thing that I will say is that the breakfast was impeccable!! I wish I remembered her name but the woman that was running the breakfast kept everything spic and span! I've never seen a better maintained breakfast. Everything was super clean and organized. We only had some bacon and cereal but they had good looking breakfast sandwiches and other hot food. Tables were spotless too. I would stay there again just because of that.
I have stayed at this facility before. It is walking distance to two good eating establishments. I was a little taken back by the price. I was told it was summer rates were the reason, but it was still steep. It is worth noting that when taking a shower there are two handles that you just turn. Had to laugh as I didn't have to figure out if I'm supposed to pull, turn, twist, or push to get a shower :-)
We had a great time here, the pool/hot tub was relaxing. Rooms were very clean and well maintained. Breakfast was delicious and the staff were amazing! 5⭐️ Plus there is a couple dinner options just walking distance from the hotel. You can choose from the pub or the Italian restaurant
Tucked in a quiet corner of Fortuna is a Best Western Motel. The property is cute and well maintained. The staff is friendly. There are a couple restaurants in walking distance and a walking path along the Eel River. A good place to stay while on the Northern California Coast.
"Pet friendly" might mean the pets are not friendly. Lots of cats and a few barking dogs. Did a dog or cat poop on the carpet before we got there? We will never stay at a pet friendly hotel again. The breakfast was great.
Stayed two nights. Room impeccably clean and large. Grounds, facilities and landscaping very well maintained. Good breakfast offerings. Front desk staff friendly and professional. Walking distance to two restaurants. Near Hwy 101 exit but far enough away that one doesn't hear the freeway, even in the parking lot.
While some may want to go tourist, others like me prefer to go off the beaten path. Fortuna is a good place to start your exploration of the Lost Coast by the mouth of the Eel River which is a couple blocks away.
Great staff helpful went out of their way to make sure I was well taken care of. very clean rooms and clean kitchen were constantly cleaning and sanitizing , food could be a lot better but stay was good
We stayed here on the final night of a 5 day road trip vacation. We arrived just after 5pm and our room was ready and waiting for us. The hotel is on the west side of highway 101 along with a few other hotels and a few restaraunts. The area is clean and felt safe. Our room was clean and the bed was comfortable - we truly were in our room less then 12 hours. The hotel has resumed hot breakfast service which was nice as we had hoped to be on the road by 7am and breakfast started at 6am. Selection was good (breakfast sandwiches, scrambled eggs, sausag, potatoes and biscuits and gravy). They also had a pancake machine, yogurt, juices, etc. Definitely happy we were able to get a little food before our 4 hour drive home. Staff was pleasant and efficient.
This is a great hotel everybody's friendly they're very clean the breakfast is great and the pool is indoor outdoor and is wonderful. Parking is convenient and right by your room And the beds are very comfortable
The hotel was very busy during the 4th of July holiday. Despite that, my stay could not have been better. My room cleaned each day in a timely manner and cleaned to perfection. Breakfast was excellent as well. High marks to the whole staff. Could not have been better.
This BW was comfortable, reasonably quiet, super clean rooms and grounds, easy access on/off highway. Breakfast was just fine and the coffee was great (Kona is my favorite). There is a clean smoking area off to one side that has 2 picnic tables. Also little picnic area in the middle of the parking lot. The rooms held their quite pretty well. While we were there a couple road/engineering crews and their big trucks were staying and some of them got up before the crack of dawn. We heard them but it wasn't too bad and we were able to get back to sleep. All staff members friendly, professional and helpful - from front desk to servers at breakfast to maids and maintenance fellows. The only thing I would ask for is a t.v. guide! Nightlife isn't exactly 'rocking' in Fortuna so t.v. was our entertainment and we had no clue what was on. I did not think ta look in the local paper, maybe there is one there. The front office offered a local paper in the morning. Italian food about 200 paces away. It was a bit pricey but the food was tasty. Shopping Centers, including a Safeway if you drive east under the highway. Nice River walk just across the street from the hotel. Go to the Conference building and look west and you will see the path. RV place next door that we checked but the slots are too close for us when we use our trailer. We were in town to visit the new Sky Walk up at the zoo in Eureka. We will be back to this very nice hotel! Thank you'd BWCI for a lovely stay.
Best Western in Fortuna offers good accommodations for tourists interested in visiting several Redwoods Parks located nearby. The rooms are comfortable and clean, the surroundings are quiet, the overall experience is positive.
After an initial check-in error, we settled into our upstairs room and found it to be clean and quiet. There was a swimming pool so lots of kids having fun in the pool, but they quieted down later in the evening. There were two restaurants within walking distance - an Italian and a Brew Pub. We chose the Italian restaurant and it was fine and very close by. The hotel served a hot breakfast and other options - just pick it up and take back to your room. All in all, I can recommend this hotel!
This Best Western has all the normal amenities of a Best Western and is located just off HW 101, but far enough that you are not aware of the highway. It is a short walk from the Riverwalk along the Eel River--perfect for a walk or run--and from a very nice brew pub. It is also near the cute little Victorian town of Ferndale which is well worth a visit. A good choice for a trip along the coast.
We stayed only one night at this hotel but we would stay there again if we came back to the area. It was impeccably clean and the grounds were well kept. Its off the freeway but its still so peaceful and quiet that you can't tell. The beds were very comfortable and there was plenty of space. The staff was very friendly and helpful. There isn't much around, but the Eel River Brewery around the corner had pretty good food. There's also a pretty peaceful walk in the fields across the street.
Overall Everything was great. Room was clean and spacious. Pool was refreshing and hot tub relaxing. I would stay here again and would recommend to family and friends. The hot breakfast was well prepared.
This Best Western truly is one of the best small hotels I have stayed in. Check-in was very quick and Kiana very friendly and offered cookies! We traveled with a dog, so our 2 queen bed room (#119) was on the ground floor. For a "dog room" it was carpeted- which was a welcomed surprise since most other hotels we have stayed at with our dog were not carpeted- and the carpets were very clean. Upon entering the room, the first thing we noticed was the beautiful sweet- but not overbearing smell of apricots(?). Whatever it was it smelled very nice and clean. Shampoo, conditioner and body wash were provided in the shower- but there was no lotion, shower caps and other amenities. The heater was quite loud so we turned it off before we went to bed. We could hear the TV from the upstair room. The hotel is across the street from the river walk and a walkable distance to a local pub restaurant. The grounds were well taken care of. The pet area was also well maintained and doggy bags provided. Breakfast is served until 10am. There was quite a selection of hot breakfast items (take out due to COVID-19) offered and the many picnic tables on the premises made dining outside refreshing and pleasant. The staff at breakfast were very nice and polite. If we come through again, we will definitely stay here.
We are currently on our second night in this wonderful hotel. It may allow pets but you'd never know it: our room has no unpleasant smells to it. It is spotless, the beds are comfortable, the room large, the bathroom has a window that allows fresh air in as well as having a heat lamp above the shower/tub. Attractive hotel grounds. Terrific breakfast included (with proper COVID protections) and really exceptional staff. We've had a wonderful time here for our planned tour of the Avenue of the Giants. Highly recommended lodging.
This Best Western was great. No issues, clean room and comfortable bed. Front desk service was quick and pleasant. She told me about free coffee and cookies in the lobby which was awesome. Just a few minute walk to restaurants. Pet friendly rooms and a nice dog run area available.
The Best Western Country Inn is a hidden gem! I researched several hotels in the area before choosing it for a one-night stay on a northern CA road trip my family and I were taking through the redwood coastal area. I chose it primarily because of its reviews and the fact that they were still providing a hot breakfast using Covid-19 compliant measures. Several other facilities seemed to be using Covid as an excuse not to provide a hot breakfast despite the fact that restaurants in the area are open again at limited capacity and yet their prices were not adjusted accordingly. Both my husband and I were very impressed with everything about the facility, from the appearance and maintenance of the grounds and the room to the staff and the hot breakfast provided. The personnel were courteous, friendly and efficient and everything was clean and well-maintained. We opened a Best Western Rewards account that gave us a great rate and the value was excellent...highly recommend and will stay here again if in the area in the future!
We were very impressed with our stay at Best Western Country Inn in Fortuna, California. The staff were very friendly and we especially appreciated the cleanliness of the room. Would stay there again.
Hotel was easy to find, nice big bright sign. Rooms were very spacious and clean. They even offered the warm light in the restroom. Room had microwave, fridge and hair dryer. It also had a space for sitting:eating. Check In was fast and efficient and most of all quick. Breakfast was a grab and go, but had plenty of choices, hot and cold. Overall this stay was wonderful and left my family recharged for our long drive back home.
This is a basic, middle-of-the-road motel. Some of the goods include -room was clean and comfortable -good freeway access -one of the few hotels where there is a fridge and a decent sized freezer Some of the bad: -the woman at the front desk was quite unfriendly and didn't seem to want to be there (I get it but don't show that to your guests) -the bathroom was way too small for the size of the room. There is a lot of wasted space in the main bedroom where the room could have been expanded. -there was a very heated argument between some of the guests near our room. I alerted the woman at the front desk (see above) who said she would "check it out" but didn't appear to. The whole incident made us feel unsafe -our room was near the road and was noisy.
Easy to find even in the pouring rain. Easy check in. Great modern room. Amazing hot breakfast served by real people from behind plexiglass. You take it CK to your room to eat. Very clean. Lots of hot water. Best price for Bestwestern in this part of the 101.
This hotel was very clean andvery safe. The are pet friendly which is what made me pick them. Once there and we went into our room I wanted to stay. We we're only there for a overnight on our way home but we wish we had this hotel for our entire trip.
Entire staff at this location need to be recognized! Dealt with making sure the fire fighters and strike teams were taken care of and us regular travelling folks!! Erica, Kiana, Estefani, Nicole, Katie, Josh, Shawn, Jason, Dave, Oscar, Kairina, Ceilia, Imelda, Mary, Domi,Christina,Maria, Dora, Luirs, Diegi and Larry. I hope I did not miss anyone. If so, please recognize them!! They are work SO hard and they care!! SUPERIOR AND EXCELLENT STAFF!! OUTSTANDING Customer Service!!Thank you to all!!! ALL CDC/COVID guidelines followed to a T!! Rooms were immaculate!!! Grounds are perfect!!!
The hole staff was very friendly and helpful. I'm a business traveler and I go a little farther just to stay here. Breakfast is good a lot of variety. Nice indoor out door pool that is open. Picnic tables
This hotel had a clean, comfortable room. It is also in a good location. The staff was very helpful. I appreciated the proximity to the river walk trail. This was a spur of the moment trip. If we had planned we would have packed our swimsuits as the pool and hot tub are open by reservation and are partially indoor. I understand they clean in between each use. We would definitely stay here again if in the area.
I"ve stayed at a lot of BW hotels. This one was pretty much what you would expect. I had a reservation, and my room was upstairs in the back of the hotel parking lot. So, it was relatively quiet back there. I traveled with my dog, so it was a bit difficult having to trek up and down the stairs with her when she needed to relieve herself. But, there was a nice grassy area just across the parking lot, as well as a rocky area just downstairs where people could smoke. I did not see any bags to clean up after your pupper, but luckily I had plenty of my own. The room decor was typical BW. The bed was comfortable enough for one night. Wifi was ok. The breakfast portions were extremely small. I don't know if I could have asked for more, but I definitely felt like I got a kid's meal. Oh well. It was fine for one night.
The Best Western Country Inn in Fortuna had good marks on TripAdvisor, so we decided to try it driving Ashland, OR to Bay Area and were glad we did. A. Re Covid-19, I wiped the entire room with alcohol wipes which were SPOTLESS when I was done. Brava! room cleaners! B. The king bed and pillows were heavenly. We actually overslept. C. Overall property was well kept and attractive, EZ check-in and out.
This hotel is like most Best Westerns, in that the rooms are clean and good to sleep in for a night or so while travelling. We stopped at this hotel on our roadtrip up to Oregon and back. This was the only hotel on the trip with its pool open. The process was simple. You go up to the front to schedule a time, and you come back at that scheduled time for the staff to open the door for you. The staff cleans the pool areas between guests, and you have the whole pool area to yourself. The WiFi was fast enough for me to scroll social media. The rooms are simple and well-kept. The hotel itself is not too far from the Grizzly Creek Redwoods State Park just south from there. To conclude, the hotel was fine for my uses.
Staff was courteous and did a great job to keep guests safe during early COVID opening. Room was very clean And breakfast was modified to takeout boxes to go back to our room with. Location was great, off the main roads, so it was quiet.
We decided last minute to head to the coast. Lucky to find a room in Fortuna prior to Labor Day weekend. Loved the location on the Eel River. Very peaceful. The Best Western was clean and comfortable and the virus protocols were in place. We didn't want to leave! So the front desk clerk found us a cancellation for one more night. We will return, no doubt about it!
We were there only one night, had a downstairs room toward the back of the property. Quiet- a Sunday night. One nice thing about BW's is they (almost) always have a microwave and refrigerator. This was great for us as we had lunch leftovers that we could heat for dinner. Also helpful in the morning. Per COVID, we were asked to sign up for a time we wanted to go get our breakfast. They had both hot and cold options- we pointed and were served. Then- took back to our room though there is a nice grassy area with a picnic table but it was chilly. Sipped on our coffee while reading the paper and then reheated our breakfast. This was fine- we stayed at another BW ( plus) and they just gave us a paper bag with cheese and crackers, a granola bar and a vbottle of water, even though they had two restaurants on site! So- we were pleased here. Room was clean ( I wiped it down anyway) and bed comfortable. The ocean is nearby in Ferndale which was a nice afternoon pastime.
This was a really clean and nicely appointed large room. If I were traveling through this area again to visit the Redwoods I would stay here again. My only recommendation would be not to check in late a night like we did because parking was a little sparse and you might be a distance from your room.
On the map, Fortuna may look like a pleasant base for exploring the natural beauty of the area. But the Best Western Country Inn is in effect a truck stop. The night I arrived, a huge refrigerated truck (Vistar Transportation) parked right opposite the reception. The cooling aggregate was running on and off, and was so noisy that the vibrations rattled and buzzed throughout the property, even behind closed doors. According to the hotel staff, the trucker stays here once a week, and they cannot / do not want to get him to park his truck at a distance because he is an essential worker. My thought: we all benefit from refrigerated transport and owe gratitude (and more) to essential workers, but that does not give trucking companies license to use such unnecessarily noisy equipment, and then park it right next to where a hundred other people are trying to sleep. Best Western declined my request to cancel the first night of my booking.
so my headlight went out on my motorcycle and we rolled.im to best Western at dusk. Booked with priceline and the girl at the counter said sorry we are full. I said sorry i have a reservation. She said they shouldn't have booked it and I would have to deal with their customer service she couldn't help me. I said I am guaranteed a room but she sounded like a broken record or an automated message and refused to find us a room elsewhere (which is hotel policy everywhere in the world) or to even help us find a hotel. Someone needs to train this staff how to deal with polite customers.
Surprisingly nice updated furniture & appliances. Place is a good stopping point between Redwoods & Eureka. I'd stay here again. Though would be nice if BestWestern had a stronger rewards benefits for someone that works nights and need a decent checkout time.
Very pleased with this hotel. Room was clean and beds were very comfortable. Didn't get to use the pool because of the virus and missed having a hot breakfast, but can't blame the hotel for that. Would definitely stay here again.
Good size room, four place table with chairs, very comfortable bed. TV remote was in a clean sleeve and it didn't work but was promptly swapped out by a friendly staff. Some road noise as we were near the front. Very nice place to stay.
If you LOVE to get a contact Marijuana high, while getting poor service at the front desk, this is your motel. Our room reeked of a very strong Marijuana smell. When I went back to office to explain to, Katie I believe her name was, the issue as well as see if they had another downstairs room we could have I told nothing else was available downstairs since my wife has had a stroke is unable to climb stairs. I was also told that they have a strict no marijuana on the premises policy and they have people who walk around and enforce it. I found that to be funny as I walked past two people smoking a joint on my way to the office. I don't care if people get stoned, it's legal for God's sake, but I don't want it in my NON-SMOKING room. Not to mention the 5 parking spaces in front of room were filled with trailers with quad runners on them. Why they didn't have them park those on the other side of the parking lot on the side of the other building, instead of in front of the rooms, is beyond me. Breakfast was good and the check-out person was good as well.
Excellent location for an event at the River Lodge - just a few steps away. Pet friendly! Staff was very attentive and the newly-remodel breakfast area is worthy of a Best Western Plus rating. Our choiice of lodging when in the Fortuna/Eureka area.
All of the staffs are friendly and helpful. They always have big smiles on their lovely faces. We really appreciate of their kindly help. By the way, the breakfast is quite great for the beginning of the wonderful day. The speed of the internet is very fast for browsing. Everything is on the right track for family vacation stay. We feel very satisfied with this unforgettable experience. Thanks a lot.
This really brings back the memories of traveling in the 70's and 80's with the family. Was really surprising to see one of these motor lodges in such good shape. It is well kept for clean appearance. The room was OK. Dirty carpet - can't tell until you get your feet wet then gross! The water pressure at shower was severely lacking. But the rest of the room looked fine Overall, we would stay here again.
This motel has the typical Best Western amenities (fridge, microwave, bathroom with bathtub). The room was clean and the bed comfortable. I liked that they have gone away from the individual shampoo bottles to more environmentally friendly, European style, dispensers in the shower area for shampoo and shower gel. It was nice that they have a setting in the ‘fridge where it is turned off (so you don't have to listen to the compressor noise), and this also saves energy since many guests do not use the fridge, but you have the option to turn it on if you wish. The front desk staff member was pleasant and provided a menu for the adjacent “Funky Monkey” restaurant, which is two minutes walk away and a good option for dinner. I visited on a rainy weekday evening in January. The motel was quite busy with crews from a tree maintenance company. No problems there, but as others have noted, the walls are very thin, so regular conversations and the sounds of TVs at moderate volumes were very easy to hear. There were several picnic tables outside, and I wonder if people would gather on nice summer evenings, with noise levels being quite high? Wifi had decent speed (around 5 Mbps – which is fine for Netflix, etc.). The breakfast was good with eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, etc. Overall, a decent place to stop for the night if travelling along 101.
Had a chance to finally fit in a few days of fun with the family in Fortuna before everyone went back to work school etc., so decided to pop up to old Eureka area from Santa Rosa to check it out a bit, as we had a blast visiting the past summer. Found this Hotel, at a good rate, with very nice indoor/outdoor heated pool for my son and his friend to goof around in, and lots of stuff nearby to do. Room we got had two rooms, one with a Queen and small TV, the other with the King, a table, a bigger tv, with actual door that closed, but no couch of recliner. Put the boys into the back room, we kept the front, worked out well, and was much less than renting two rooms, and I am a cheap ass. When we entered the what appeared to be a very clean room, the smell of the cleaning products was overwhelming! Had to open all the windows and crack the door, and even after 2 days, it was still be stenchy. You get used to it, worst was coming back after being gone. They need to stop using such stinky product, that is for sure. Other room bother was you could not set the wall ventilation unit to just leave the fan ON.. even though it had positions for On/Off/Auto, the On didn't keep it on.. so to keep air moving in the room we would have to flip it back and forth on the temperature, which was annoying. Quibbles I had were that they had NO FOOD on a Friday morning at 915AM on a non crowded day, took 20 minutes to get food back out, and all I can think is that they lost track, or didn't watch, because it wasn't one thing out, it was most all the hot food. Once they stocked it, was tasty if limited breakfast buffet, with waffle, scrambled eggs, potatoes, biscuits, gravy, etc. on top of cereal, etc. And only other quibble was an anemic weak ass piddly little shower,.. if you set it on massage, it dribbled out! And on needle spray, more like rapid drips. Sad. Bed was soft, but supportive, like it was soft due to a topper vs a mushy mattress.
One of the best hotel experiences that we have ever had. The front desk people were proficient and friendly. The Breakfast was the BEST we have ever had at any hotel including high-end ones like Marriott and Hilton. Really clean and comfortable rooms/bed. Nice laundry.
Look, we're rating a Best Western here, not the Ritz... and for that it gets 5***** It's clean safe and good location. Check-in was easy and they (mostly) accommodated my very early check-in (thank you). Beds were comfortable, the towels on the plusher side and the shower worked well. If next I'm in the area I will stay here again.
Stayed here overnight during a trip to the Redwoods. Nice quiet hotel right off the freeway. Recently renovated, so everything felt "new." Staff was very friendly and accommodated our request for a first floor room with no one above us. Would not hesitate to stay here again.
Was treated horrible by staff member. Accused of speeding in parking lot. Up to this point never had an issue with this hotel and would stay here on trips to this area. Never again will I use this hotel.
We decided to stay in Fortuna while visiting Eureka. Good choice. BW Fortuna is a great location. Very good breakfast that saved having to go out. Very clean. We'll stay there again. Might go up to Arcata BW as well.
Great experience overall and the amenities were perfect. I liked the indoor Jacuzzi to soak my tired bones and the indoor outdoor pool that was so e=well heated I could w=swim in 37 degree weather without feeling chilled.
Thanks so much for taking care of me yet again. My wife and I always love to stay at this hotel because it just keeps getting better. Can't wait to come back. The staff is very accommodating from the front desk awesome folks to the young ladies working hard to feed us every morning.
This hotel is well maintained and we love it for so many reasons. The staff are always really friendly and the rooms are very clean. They have a pool and hot tub. They are pet friendly and you can walk along the riverbar on a path with your dog. The lobby has been remodeled since I came here last and it's modern and inviting. They also have lots of options for breakfast such as yogurt and granola, bacon, bagels, pancakes, waffles, etc. I also really like that they have a yogurt dispenser and they really seem to make a lot of effort to cut down on plastic (ex. dispensers in the shower for shampoo, conditioner, etc. instead of plastic bottles). Eel River Brewing company is also within walking distance if you want to walk and to lunch/dinner or have an adult beverage. An all around great place to stay!
This was a well maintained Best Western. Yea there are still two beds in the room. There is a nice walk across the street. Staff are friendly and breakfast was very good for a Continental type breakfast. Be sure to book online as the rate is much better. We booked just the day before the first time and less than 1 hour the second time. We saved almost $40 each night by booking online directly with Best Western.
This hotel is not fancy, just basic but it is one of the nicest BWs we stay at. The bed is so comfy, room clean, breakfast standard but good and even when it's crowded it's quiet. I don't know why but people seem to be more considerate here. There's a nice pool and a grassy area with picnic tables under large trees. Usually reasonably priced.
We love the area and this hotel is clean, accommodating, and in a beautiful location. We love this Best Western Country Inn because the staff is always pleasant, the rooms are spacious and it is a quaint country inn near the redwoods. We have day tripped from this location going east to the Van Duzen River Redwoods, going south into the Avenue of the Giants Redwoods, north to Arcata for a Humboldt Crabs baseball game or the Eureka Zoo. Fortuna has Antique shops and the Eel River Brewing company. Going West we have visited small town Loleta and Victorian village Ferndale. Ferndale Pizza company is terrific. There are other hotels in this area, But this one is much better than the others.
We stayed here on our way down the 101 for one night. Large rooms and the breakfast is awesome. This property is clean and very well maintained. We travelled with our pet and is ideally set up for pet friendly. Great for a one or two night stop over.
We have stayed at this hotel yearly for a week for the last 5 years. This year when we walked into the lobby it was completely renovated. WOW, what a surprise! The newly remodeled Breakfast area is awesome, very roomy and inviting. We ended up showing up a day early and they were able to get us a room that would allow us to stay in to meet our reservation for the rest of the week, NO MOVING - yay! Thank you Katie. The next day we asked for an extra table and chair so my husband and I could both have work areas. Less than 2 hours later, surprise, table and 2 chairs. Thank you Jason in Maintenance. The staff are all very friendly and ready to help make our stay the best ever. They also accommodated our 2 dogs. Thank you!
Nicely kept property with generously sized rooms and comfortable beds! Additionally, our room had a very generous bathroom counter with enough room for 2 dopp kits! Staff was courteous on check in. Breakfast offered was good though the layout/set up of the breakfast room was awkward for seating. Only complaint was tv... network stations did not come through with consistent sound or picture. When I called office to inquire, the response was acknowledged and I was told that had been happening for awhile.. may be cable provider's fault but annoying all the same. Overall feel like this is a good place to stay if you are ever in the Fortuna area!
Very nice place. Confortable, quiet, clean, close to where we what to go, easy to get to, and we sleep extremely well. The staff is very helpful and polite. It is good for a motel breakfast compared to other places we have stayed..
Our stay was great. The remodel was nicely done. However, the bacon now being served for breakfast seems a little strange in flavor. What is your source? Great variety of food choices. Thanks, JOhn Scheuber
Location is convenient for travelers. Receptionist was efficient yet unwelcoming and cold. Hotel was close to full. A group of people were celebrating something / making noise in the parking area. My wife felt uneasy. Partly because of people we saw in Eureka (few miles away). They left before 11PM. Room is small but with good amenities. No nightlight. A bit too small bathroom. Almost clean. Low water pressure. Efficient and quiet AC. Good mattress and good sleep quality. Could not tell what the normally wrinkled cover on the top of the bed was and if it is washed. If yes, then this is a nice feature, if not, then strike last sentence :-) Noise from outside: rooms too close to parking area.
The hotel was fine, clean and comfortable. The only issue we had was that amongst the facilities listed was a gym/workout room.... I guess it's not important to many people, but it is to our son.... this gym/workout room is a mile away with no pedestrian footpath!!!.... hardly convenient and very doubtful should be listed at all.
The buildings and parking lot are beautiful. The look of it feels like a home. My room looked and smelled clean! It was a very nice room I ended up taking pictures because it was so nice. If you stay at a hotel or Inn that offers complimentary breakfast then you may know it can be a bit awkward. For me, I was there alone and I did not feel uncomfortable at all, in fact it was the first breakfast of gone to where the other diners were not staring at me the entire time I made my food. I personally feel it's because this BW gives off such good energy everyone just minds their business and focuses on enjoying their stay. Just my guess lol also the food was so very delicious. 5 stars is exactly what I'd give this location.
Highly recommend! Super clean hotel both inside and out. My room was huge! Friendly staff and a good breakfast including eggs, sausage, potatoes and tortillas. Also bagels, pancakes, waffles and the other standard items. Pool is covered.
This Best Western has some of the most excellent staff members of any hotel. They are extra helpful, polite and knowable. The rooms are extra clean and neat. There breakfast is an excellent experience. You can have every thing from Eggs, Potatoes, sausage, bacon, yogurt from a machine, waffles, biscuits and gravy, all kinds of toast, bagels, sweet rolls, and the list goes on.. The Kitchen Dinning area is newly redesigned and is as good as any of the more high class hotels. This is probably one of the best, Best Westerns in the United States
We like staying in Fortuna instead of Eureka because the fog usually is less there. Also it us closer to redwoods and Ferdale and the ocean Good restaurants within walking distance. Liked the pool and soa area. Half the pool us inside and the other half is outside.
Our reserved room was not available upon ariival and to make it worse the clerk was rude and insistant the we booked a one bed room rather than double queen (3 guests). Had to prove ourselves with condirmation and screen shot of reservation. Ended up with a rollaway being brought in. Check out clerk was friendlier and adjusted the room charge slightly. Would advise calling ahead to confirm even with reservation.
After reading so many bad reviews about Eureka, which would be a more natural stopover around he redwoods area, I decided to skip and stay in Fortuna. And I picked a safe choice: the Best western Country Inn. It's is a standard BW - clean large rooms, basic but satisfying breakfast, and nothing more or less. The only interesting notice was the incompetence of the check-in person: despite having my credit card and my passport in hand, and me telling her my name, she proceeded to check me in under another name (initials AM, while mine are JN), and I only recognized the error because she try to charge me the wrong rate. We laughed about it, but I am not sure if this is the kind of people that I want handling my credit card. At any rate, just a mild annoyance. Overall the hotel is good. The only downside is that Fortuna is a dot in the map. Next time I will take my chances with Eureka.
Another one of the better Best Westerns that we have stayed at. Easy access from the freeway but not so close that we could hear any freeway traffic noise. The staff was very accommodating and the room was nicely layed out and comfortable! They did their best to get us checked into our room as early as possible. Plus they met all of our special requests. We stayed 3 nights and the room was cleaned and re-stocked each day. Another Best Western winner!
Pros: Dog-friendly (doesn't have a weight limit or breed restrictions) Reasonable fee to have your dog there, which I really appreciate Clean and nice pet relief area and nice walking area across the street where you can walk your dog by the river Very clean rooms Nice pool/hot tub area Walking distance to Eel River Brewery Walking trail across the street if you want to go on a walk or run Friendly staff Continental breakfast included Reasonably priced Spacious rooms Cons: Dispensers of shampoo/conditioner/body wash in shower make you press several times to get out a small amount of product. I do love that they went away from plastic bottles through in order to be more environmentally friendly so huge props to that!!! The coffee wasn't very strong, although I feel this is true for most hotels Overall, I would rate this a 4.5 or higher and I would definitely stay here again since the pros definitely outweigh the cons by a lot.
This is a go to for us while traveling up the coast from CA, great access for dogs across the street from the river. Awesome restaurants EEL river brewery and Double D's! Steak house. New breakfast area is beautiful in the hotel.
A pet friendly lodging, this Best Western was clean with well maintained grounds and friendly staff. While dogs are not allowed in the flower beds and lawns, there is a small grassy area at one end of the building set aside as a dog bathroom. Dog baggies provided. It is also close to a gravel trail alongside the river which was a great place to walk our dog. The beds were comfy, the breakfast was excellent with many options (get there early for sausages and pancakes!). There is also a generously sized pool, partially covered. It was an ideal stopping point for us on our road trip. Would stop here again.
This is an average Best Western hotel. The room is clean, the breakfast is OK, There's a pool, everything is fine. A good place to stay at a fair price. Nothing special, but everything was fine. Our room was near the road, and the walls are quite thin. Thus, it was a bit noisy first thing in the morning. Perhaps a room near the back would be quieter.
Looking out to a field with cows happily grazing in the sunlight made breakfast a truly relaxing experience. Plus, the food was great! I enjoyed everything but not having an elevator to the 2nd floor. Climbing stairs not in my book of favorites at 69.
Rooms are clean and comfortable, the pool has a jacuzzi and is clean with towels provided. Nice friendly staff and room ha plenty of beds to accommodate everyone, we had three people. Good place to stay.
This is a really cute property with well maintained rooms. The pool area is nice and the pool is heated. Every member of the staff provided exceptional service. No on site gym though- just a deal with a local gym with limited weekend hours.
at least 10 state workers stayed there the same nights those who booked on one date got the legal state rate. those who booked days after the ones who got the state rate got a "summer rate increase that the state will not reimburse us for. So at least 4 of us who stayed the same nights as others in our group pay more that is not reimbursable. RIP OFF Manager will not accomodate the 4 over charged
This was our first visit to the area and online reviews were sketchy, but this is a very nice property. Professional staff, large, clean rooms, good wi-fi and excellent breakfast. This will be our first choice in the future..
This Best Western is my favorite. After staying 1 night we came back 2 weeks later and stayed 2 extra. The Jacuzzi room is just perfect for a fun getaway and its conviently located next to Eel Rivers restaurant. Kind staff too
This is one of the best Best Westerns I have stayed at. Super friendly staff and good breakfast. Clean rooms and pool area. Will look forward to sraying in Fortuna again. Parking lot was easy to navigate, too!
Very nice and clean room. Comfy bed. Easy check in & check out. Very nice and clean room. Comfy beds. Would absolutely stay here again and definitely recommend this hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful.
This is our 'home away from home' when we have to be in northern Humboldt County . The remodeled breakfast area and main check in are nice and modern Al in all a great spot. We look froward to our next visit.
This was billed as family friendly with a full hot breakfast. Do not stay here! The pool was disgusting. There is NO hot breakfast and even their continental breakfast is stale and pitiful. EVERY night except the last night was like spring break in the parking lot with drunk, loaded idiots screaming, laughing and singing until all hours. The walls are paper thin and you can hear EVERYTHING. Paid top dollar based on reviews. I'm convinced they are either old reviews or the drunk idiots who had a different kind of vacation in mind.
A well matained facility that is fairly priced with a helpful staff. I have used this hotel several times in the past and have been satisified with each stay. The only complaint that I have is that the breakfast starts a bit too late.
The staff and rooms were nice. Room were clean. The pool was fun to swim in.The hotel staff is very polite and knowledgeable. The breakfast was better than i expected. the room was nice but different then anywhere else that i have been.
Do not stay here. Drug deals in parking lot. Refused to honor my Best Western rewards and was charged $22 more. People coming into the “breakfast area” which is actually a hotel room with tables in it and wiping it clean. Felt unsafe and angry.
I told front desk of poop splatter in lobby toilet, told her it was there for 3rd straight day. Went back 45 minutes later and still there. I got the impression of lobby check in girl “not my job, eh'” Sad...... also no hot breakfast.
Best Western is a great facility! Very clean, many amenities, friendly service. Breakfast is available. Outdoor pool for swimming activities too. Nice location and in walking distance to many other services.
This place is very clean, staff is efficient and friendly. Location is great close to the Brewery for dinner and Starbuck in the morning. Lobby was currently under construction, so the next time we visit it will be even nicer. Beds were super comfortable. Only negative is the coffee served in the rooms, really bad.
This hotel is NOT deserving of a Best Western flag. Cold Showers, 6AM Noise, stayed 3 nights and they couldn't remake the beds? Breakfast is a joke... all for $102 per night? Then when I reported the problems, they offer me points, not an adjustment to my bill? The crazy part is that the hotel was at least 90% full every night I was there... so obviously they can afford to spend some money. Cheap owner. Go stay somewhere else.
Helpful person at the desk who went out of his way to make sure we were satisfied with the room. Nice exterior, nice large room, looks like recent remodeling, very good deal for the price. Quiet location was also helpful.
I will not be spending my money here until there a more qualified manager. I witnessed the hotel manager treating the employees here terrible especially one in particular. Corporate needs to intervene because I have witnessed some major labor laws being broken. I tried calling the hotel manager to address my concerns and one of the front desk associates told me that Lynn (THE ONLY MANAGER) only works a couple of days a week and they weren't sure when she'd be back! I've never heard of such a thing. Last time I checked, management typically gets a set salary and are required to work minimum 40 hours a week. Get your act together Best Western! I witnessed hourly employees running around busting their butts while your lazy manager is no where to be found.
The staff is very friendly. Any problems are immediately addressed. They gave us the opportunity of allowing the workers there to get off early to enjoy the holidays with their families by making early requests for room cleaning and towels on Christmas. An entity that values its staff is an entity that values its customers as well. I can not say enough about how great this hotel is and has been for all the years I have stayed at it.
Our stay at the Best Western Country Inn was during a visit with family in Ferndale. We had a very comfortable room, slept well and it is close to a variety of good dining spots. Love this area and visit often.
Nice looking property. Friendly check in and the room was very nice. A brew pub close by was recommended and we walked over there for dinner. Good recommendation. The breakfast room was a bit small and the tables needed to be bussed more often. Breakfast staff very friendly.
This is a very attractive hotel with an attractive lobby and breakfast dining area as well as welcoming front desk staff. The property has a pool (which we didn't use) that is both indoor and outdoor. The landscaping throughout the facility is attractive and the rooms large and comfortable. If we had only one problem it was the pillows - for us they were uncomfortable.
Very clean motel.Property was very clean and neat.Breakfast was one of the best on the trip and staff was excellent.Pool and hot tub were great and room was excellent with a new large screen tv.Stay here again with no problem.
You simply cannot go wrong w/ a Best Western. Originally, we made reservations at the BW in Garberville, then, found this Inn by accident. It was more affordable, so we changed our lodging. PROS: Friendly staff; satisfying (free) breakfast; clean, modern rooms. CONS: You never know who'll be upstairs, tramping around in the early morning, or checking in at midnight next door. We got both. Walls are thin. Book an upstairs, corner room. STAFF: Very helpful, especially Jason, who took a quick look under the hood of my car, and relieved me of my concerns (we'd been hearing noise, with a burnt, rubber smell). Thanks to Jason, we completed our road trip with peace of mind. We shall return.
Great little basic motel. We asked for a room on the main floor as we cannot do stairs and there is no elevator. We were given a room and were able to park in front of it. Lady at front desk gave us directions to a nearby restaurant.. (Eel River Brewing Company). The food was good as was the IPA. Only problem with food was burger had nothing on it other than a patty and a bun. Also, every time the front door was opened, a wind blew through the restaurant.
It has always been a challenge to find a good hotel on California's north coast. This hotel is clean, fairly quiet, somewhat convenient, has a great swimming pool and serves a very good breakfast. The price is competitive and the staff is friendly.
We recently stayed at this BW for 10 days. The staff was helpful and courteous. The breakfast each morning was very nice - a variety of options and hot foods. We had our dog along and we enjoyed walking the Riverwalk each day. We had a room with a Jacuzzi that we enjoyed each evening. We will definitely be staying here again.
We always try to use Best Western motels when we travel and have never had been disappointed before. We stopped here for one night after a long, tiring day. We just looked for a BW assuming it would be nice and clean. We were not aware and the clerk did not tell my husband as he was registering that this was a pet-friendly establishment. We had 2 rooms. As soon as we entered one I couldn't help but notice that it smelled like dogs had been there. We then entered the room for our daughter and the odor wasn't as bad but it too smelled like a dog had been there. We were tired and didn't want to drive further that day so she switched rooms with us. I brought back onions from my dinner and had them in the room to help cover the dog smell. Even the beds had dog odor. My husband mentioned it to the clerk and was told that dogs are not allowed in that building but he saw someone with a dog on a leash come out of a room close to ours. Now, when we ask for non-smoking rooms we will have to ask for non-pet rooms. The rooms looked nice but I would only recommend this motel to someone travelling with animals because the smell was horrible. We didn't attempt the breakfast for fear that animals were allowed there too.
My wife and I had been travelling in the US, and so made use of a number of hotels. On our journey back to our starting airport, we made an overnight stop at the Best Western in Fortuna; what a great decision that was! This hotel excelled above any other we have stayed in during the past two weeks. The welcome at reception was great with offers of drinks and cookies, the room was a delight, large and spacious with large and comfortable beds. The facilities in the room were wonderful, our night was quiet, and breakfast the following morning was such a delight, with so many multiple choices. This hotel knows how to treat customers as kings and queens!
Great stay... clean and great spacious room. Breakfast was great too. Indoor outdoor pool, very quiet room and very comfortable bed. The price was great also. Didnt have to worry about car. Been on the road for 10 days and this definitely was in top 2 of hotels we stayed at for not breaking the bank.
Stayed one night as a stop over while driving to Sonoma. Large, clean room with very comfortable bed. Microwave and fridge with freezer compartment in room. WiFi worked well and breakfast was adequate buffet style.
Pleasing grounds, rooms were nice and comfortable, staff was attentive, breakfast was tasty. Great access to the river trail and walking distance to the brewery. Would stay again, only downfall, is I thought the webpage mentioned a gym, which I never found. Maybe I misread.
This was a last minute late night booking. The hotel staff was friendly. That hotel was w dog friendly. Lots of room for your pouch to run around in. The rooms were large and they were green friendly clean comfortable beds, fridge and microwave. The Pool was 1/2 inside and 1/2 out. Breakfast included waffles, eggs, sausage and biscuits and gravy. Self serve. I will differently stay here again when passing though. No elevator so if you can do one flight of stairs might want to stay on the bottom floor.
Exactly what I expect from a Best Western. Although the property looked older on the outside, the rooms seemed relatively modern. The breakfast was more than continental fare. This was a reliable stop over.
Nice place. Clean rooms with nice beds. Great quality amenities. Great breakfast many choices. Professional staff. Thankyou. Many places don't have an overall great travel experience, we found everything here was thoughtful and well done.
If you are up in NorCal, this hotel is a hidden jewel. Very well kept, super clean, alot of amenities and a very pleasant staff. Small pool and picnic area nice for families. I needed to be in Eureka for a meeting and did not want to stay there, this hotel was perfect to get in and out of Eureka.
We stayed here for two nights (8/16 to 8/18/18) while we were touring the redwood forests. It is the older style BW but the property is well kept and our room (132) was large, clean, quiet and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was a bit small. The sink was outside the bathroom which is a feature we like.. Wifi was fine for email and web surfing, the breakfast was fine, typical of a BW. The hotel is within walking distance of two restuarants (we tried Eel River both nights). We would stay here again.
We stayed just one night. We were originally going to stay in Eureka but found Fortuna slightly cheaper. We were given a ground floor accessible/disabled room (not sure why) and it was a good size. Wifi was included. The room had an iron and ironing board which is always necessary for me. We loved the breakfast that was included, I'd say it was the best of the ones we had on our trip. It was very clean and well organised with a decent selection. I couldn't get over the cutlery dispensers on the wall - never seen those before! My only negative was that our room was next to the ice machine which someone came and used three times between about 6.30am and 6.45am, really noisy that early in the morning.
I do realize that there are not a lot of hotels in the area so one can't be too picky. The hotel was old and a little outdated which is fine except I did not feel that they the room was very clean the sheets had some stains on them as did the towels the carpet looked old and worn. The staff at the front desk were not overly helpful and I almost got the feeling that I was bothering them. If you can't find anywhere else to stay in this area I guess this is okay but I would check out some of the other hotels before I booked here.
Man, when the room cleaner returns the wallet ( full of money and cards) to the desk, you know you came to the right place. I had previously stayed at another name chain motel nearby.. and was treated like a flaming sack of manure . Here everything was cozy and nice. Friendly and competent desk staff. No big rigs doing donuts in the parking lot.. ( that;s the other place ! ) No fools standing outside my door smoking. We arrived early and tired out, and they made us welcome well before check -in time. In a world full of sleaze bag joints run by soul-less yo-yo's this place is so pleasantly refreshing.. it really doesn't matter what it costs.. not that it was much more than the flea bags that abound on 101. Glad we got the upstairs.. that makes a real difference. Very nicely kept up. Can't compare to a B and B... but among the available Motels in fortuna.. this is by far the best.. and IMHO Only Choice.
First of all, we are loyal to Best Western Hotels and have an account. When we checked in at Fortuna, there were only 2 rooms available. We were offered the Handicapped room for approximately $270. The lady at the desk said they would bring in 2 rollaways for our twin 10 yr. old grand daughters. We went to dinner and when we came back, checked the rollaways...one was perfectly acceptable, but the other was like something used for "torture". There's metal such as fencing on both sides covered by extremely thin bedding. My husband lay on it and announced that no one could sleep on that rollaway, so he called the front desk and was informed that of the 3 rollaways, these were the best. That night, one grand daughter slept on a rollaway and the other SLEPT ON A CHAIR. I suggest whoever is in charge of the rollaways, sleep on the unacceptable one to see what we mean. In the bathroom there were only 2 sets of towels for 4 people and the wall dispenser for shampoo, conditioner and soap was soooo stiff that at first we thought it didn't work...a handicapped person would not be able to use it. One would think that bringing in 2 rollaways, would mean 2 more sets of towels. In the morning after explaining our situation, the day manager did give us a refund ($10) for one of the rollaways ("since it wasn't used") and points for our Best Western account, but thinking back, I don't believe the compensation was enough for the uncomfortable sleeping arrangement our grand daughter endured and the basically mediocre room. The night before we stayed in a Best Western in Angels Camp..a lovely facility and a mini-suite with 2 Q beds and the cost was $162. Sorry, but we were incredibly disappointed with the Fortuna Best Western.
Excellent staff and customer service, wonderful room, comfortable bed, great experienceThe staff went out of their way to make sure I had all I needed and even helped me when an UBER wasn't available by driving me to my meeting
We randomly picked this hotel and sure were glad we found it. It's a great location heading up from San Francisco to Oregon and is a very nice hotel. The staff was friendly, quick and competent. The rooms just fine. The pool and hot tub actually very nice too. There's a basic, well made, complimentary breakfast and the kitchen staff also very helpful and attentive. Would definitely stay here again.
This hotel is beautifully maintained and staffed with excellent, helpful people. It is near a wonderful trail that runs for miles along the Eel river. We had a dog with us and enjoyed this walk daily. Breakfast was varied and of high quality. The location was quiet and the bedding comfortable.
hotel is very nice, clean, cute. laundry room was clean, only had one washer/dryer, but luckily I got in before anyone else. the area is nice, outside of town, but close to everything. about 15 mins to Ferndale, 5 mins for the "town of Fortuna". Staff was very helpful& friendly. We had the mother in law suite, very nice rooms. Was wondering if we should stay in Fortuna or Eureka, to see the sights in Northern Ca. Fortuna is a MUCH nicer town than Eureka.
Breakfast room too small. Walls too thin. Could hear neighbors and their dogs. Internet was not strong at all. It kept kicking me out. Otherwise, I enjoyed my stay. The hot tub was nice but the jets were so low it didn't help my back. Pool was nice.
The hotel was a decent hotel but nothing terrific. I was not impressed with the cost of the hotel for what you get. It seemed for a Thursday night stay that it shouldn't cost $180 for a room. If I didn't have a dog with me the hotels in the area that were nicer were much less expensive.
This was a Expedia deal and it was the best. Out in the country, very quiet. You access the room from the parking lot. Nice pool and spa. We used the coin laundry. Our room was a handicap room, very spacious with a step in shower. The curtain was curved at the top and hung over the floor which was a problem, but there was a heat lamp. The bed was comfortable. Breakfast had bacon and egg choices. We'd stay there again.
Nice grounds with average rooms. Staff friendly and helpful. I liked the egg burrito breakfast sandwiches. Full breakfast not fancy but more flavor than Holiday Inn Express' powdered eggs. Rooms were traditional in style with 2.5 star quality. Nice pool, everything clean and well kept. Caters to families. Pretty good value to over priced summer high season at the coast. However, for my money, it would be a better value next time to go to another area. I would go 15 miles further north to Eureka where more choices for motel and meals or further south closer to redwoods.
We stayed at Best Western Inn on the first night of our Pacific Northwest Road Trip. We had a nice big room, comfortable bathroom and very good internet. The only thing not really good was the breakfast. It is a bit disorganized. The staff were trying to keep the food coming but the self service part was a bit complicated. You can make your own waffles but you need to stand there and wait for them, scrambled eggs were not at all tasty and the coffee was really weak! I suggest that you skip breakfast there and have it elsewhere.
This place accommodated is nicely for an overnight stay. We got a massive room (two units in one) called the Redwood. It was nice for our family of 5 and a decent continental breakfast. We ate and had full bellies for our road trip to the Redwoods.
We spent four nights at this hotel, well located for exploring the region, good access to the101. Nice and quite location with a couple of restaurants with in easy walking distance. We had room on first floor 207 opposite swimming pool, large room with two queen beds. Continental breakfast was good with reasonable selection of food, breakfast room maybe on the small side on busy days. The heated swimming pool was a reasonable size and seems to be well used. There is a great walk along the banks of the Eel River accessed beside the function centre. I would stay there again and would recommend it to others.
Chose the BW Country Inn based on positive reviews, would recommend to others. Nice part of Humboldt County near the River and Eel River Brewing Company. Hotel itself is more of a "Motor Inn" style, not ultra luxurious, but cozy and set in a comfy location in Fortuna. Free Breakfast is nice, comparable to a Hampton Inn Breakfast. Would stay here again when Business brings me back to Humboldt County.
This hotel was clean; the beds were amazingly comfortable; and the breakfast was delicious. Near the hotel was a long river trail that afforded us some exercise after driving all day. Someone on Trip Advisor recommended staying here instead of a town up the road and we did. Good decision!!
After looking at Eureka, we moved on to Fortuna and found this Best Western, gladly so. Great reception upon arrival and given the room we requested. Room was large, well laid out with fridge, freezer and microwave. Beds were comfortable and we slept well. Breakfast was hot and cold, enough to start your day. Wifi was good, but had to resign in whenever you turned your computer off. Good eateries around hoteland in a nice quiet area. Recommended.
Comfy beds and pillows, 2 luggage racks, microwave, fridge, and coffeemaker in room. Rooms open to outside so it's nice to get a ground floor room. The sink was outside the tub/ toilet area which I always like because someone can be taking a shower and someone else can be using the sink area to get ready for the day. This hotel is close to Avenue of the Giants and has easy access to Hwy 101. It's also close to a few restaurants. After getting in our car to go eat at Eel's Brewery we realized it was within walking distance. Staff were all friendly and breakfast selection was good.
This was absolutely one of the cleanest hotels we have ever stayed in. The staff was very friendly and the maintenance folks were hard at work which explains the appearance of this hotel. Very pleased and will definitely stay there again
Very clean we love the room we always get the same room and we love the sparkling cider the beds are so soft showers perfect good channel menu great pet area the breakfast is so good they even have cinnamon sorinkles
Stayed here for the Avenue of the Giants Marathon as close in locations book up. The room was comfortable with a good shower and bed, quiet location outside of town. Good breakfast selection. Bonus for runners is the river trail, a two mile gravel path which is perfect for a shakeout run the day before.
We had an outstanding stay! Loved the location, visited Eureka for the ocean and then Avenue of the Giants. Perfect location! The room was amazing. Loved the Jacuzzi, we used it 4 times during our stay! Thank you!!
I found the rooms clean and comfortable. I slept well in the comfortable bed for two nights after long days of driving. I stayed at this hotel many times over the years and it has gotten even better than ever.
Love the pool the same as I remember when I was little but just wondering why you just took away the middle part where the glass was. Beds are great they're very countable. Wi-Fi works really good there and this is the number one hotel to go to for me
I wish we could've stayed at this location longer. My wife and I enjoyed the Jacuzzi Suite - it was clean and thoroughly enjoyable after a long day of driving and hiking. There is a small continental breakfast area that has everything one really needs. Staff we met upon check-in and check-out were friendly and professional. No, it's not a 5-star hotel ... but it's a 5/5 value - especially considering its proximity to such things as the Avenue of the Giants, the Victorian Village of Ferndale, Carson Mansion and many more tourist destinations in the area.
Error on my online reservation that the hotel couldn't/wouldn't correct. Basically cost me 50% of the room fee, which was after numerous attempts to reach someone to resolve. There was nothing overly special about the hotel, but it was close to the hwy. The Best Western in Eureka is much better.
We were on our way back to Oregon from San Francisco and elected to stay at this Best Western in Fortuna because we've generally been pretty happy with BW properties and our girls wanted something with a pool. We made our reservation online which was fairly simple. We didn't roll in until about 8 pm and we were tired, but check-in was so fast and simple, we were in our room in no time at all. Our room was spacious, nicely appointed and very clean. Once we got set up in our room, we all went to the pool area to take a swim. Very clean and attractive pool and spa area. The pool is heated and is half indoor/half outdoor...very nice. We used both the pool and the spa, very relaxing after a long day on the road. Back in the room, the beds were comfortable and we were able to adequately control the temperature. We like to sleep in a cool room...around 60 degrees...and we were able to make that happen. Breakfast the next morning was what I've come to expect at a Best Western, good quality and selection. The hotel was full-up and the breakfast room is kind of small for a hotel this size, but we made it work. A couple of items ran out while we were there, but hotel staff did a relatively good job restocking. I took one of our girls for a morning swim before check-out. Our key card (needed for pool access) had worked the night before, but wouldn't work that morning. Luckily, a nice woman let me in and told me that she had had the same problem. There were only about four pool towels and by the time we got out to leave, there were none so we hustled back to our room to dry off. This was only a minor inconvenience, however, it might have been a bigger issue is the weather had been colder. Check out was simple and quick. Overall, this property looks very nice and the grounds are well-groomed and incredibly clean. There are some outdoor picnic tables and even a bbq grill to use if you're hanging around long enough. The only issues we had were the size of the breakfast area and the lack of pool towels, but those were minor. I would recommend this property to anyone looking to stay in Fortuna.
My family stayed here for two nights and had a great stay! Nice rooms and decent breakfast included in the price. Not far from Ferndale, Eureka, and Humboldt State. Close by all the cool Redwood sites! Highly recommend!
Excellent place to stay to explore our Redwood forests. Beds are very comfortable, large rooms, safe area to stay with dinner choices. Pool is adequate. We have stayed at this location twice, it is on of the better Best Westerns.
The Best Western in Fortuna is a great place to stay. The staff goes out of their way. The half covered swimming pool allows you to enjoy it even in inclement weather. Good restaurants in walking distance and the river walk is a great place to watch the sunrises and sunsets.
Motel is easy to get to off the highway. Staff was friendly and helpful. The room was large and clean, but the beds were shot. I mean really shot, as in visible sagging in the middle of the mattress. If the beds had been better I would have given a higher rating. The refrigerators are turned off, so if you need the refrigerator make sure to turn it on when you arrive.
Another stop on our motorcycle trip & we were not disappointed with this hotel. A very quiet setting, with clean rooms & a comfy bed. What more does one need? Plus, it was a very reasonable rate. We will stay here again when passing through.
We stayed here one night on a California road trip. This is a motel style property but is amazingly well kept and our room was very clean and looked quite modern. We had a two queen room and it was unusually large. They have a cool indoor outdoor pool that was warm enough for my girls to use in January plus a hot tub. Probably the best part of the hotel was breakfast: delicious waffles, biscuits and gravy and breakfast sandwiches. The best part was that they had gluten free waffle batter for my daughter who has celiac disease! I will say the coffee was really bad though. This is a great property that we would definitely return to.
Friendly, helpful staff, clean rooms great bed and pillows. What more could you want? This has been my go to place for many years when traveling between Oregon and California the past twelve years. They are also very dog friendly.
In general, I choose to stay at Best Western facilities. The rooms are always clean, The breakfasts are uniformly good. The staff has consistently been attentive to my requirements and those of my customers. I feel that they are a good value for a good nights rest.
Great hotel!!!!!!! Beautiful, big, clean room. Flat screen tv, microwave and frig. Indoor and outdoor pool with Jacuzzi. Full breakfast was great. Coffee and tea available all day. Would recommend this hotel.
We stay at this Best Western whenever in the Humboldt county area. Staff is pleasant and helpful and the hotel is centrally located for day trips north and south. After a busy day a soak in the pool sauna is great!
Ive stayed at this ,hotel before, but not for some time this time, but as I had experienced before, the hotel and its amazing staff made me feel welcome, explained the amenities, and assigned us a comfortable room. Breakfast was served invitingly and a full range of breakfast items were provided.
We go to Fortuna a couple time each year to visit family and have stayed at all for hotels in this area. They are all okay, but we find the Best Western a little nicer than the others. The price for all four hotels seems a little high, this one being about the highest but the parking lot was pretty full so I assume people are happy to pay it.
Exhausted, we arrived at the hotel at the end of traveling through a rainy, dreary California. We woke up the next morning refreshed to a surprisingly good breakfast and an amazing view of the countryside.
This is my second stay. I love the site and its amenities, especially the 'whirlpool' rooms. Staff and service is excellent. This truly is the ideal location to explore northern coastal California. Many infamous spots are within minutes (Ave. of the Giants, Trees of Mystery, Paul Bunyon, an so much more). Also, there are hiking, biking, and kayaking spots nearby. I recommend this Best Western.
This is wonderful place to "get away"-- in a country setting. Close to redwoods, Eureka, coast , Eel river and main highway. Lots of places to walk, explore, enjoy in the country side or in the close by towns.
Was very surprised by the quality of this hotel! Incredibly friendly staff & beds/sleeper sofas were very comfortable! Nice selection for breakfast & staff asked if we were all finished before starting to clean up. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone up in that area!
Outstanding Best Western. Great beds, wonderful breakfast, and professional, helpful staff. We stay here often on our way from Oregon to California and return. The choice of various pillows is unique among motels/inns/hotels. The best mattress we have ever slept on. Free cookies, fruit, and newspapers. Cookies in the lobby, and a snack in every room at check in. Highly recommend this property.
We arrived on a Friday around 3 p.m. The last 3 weeks were extremely stressful and needed things to go easy. Cookies, coffee, water and tea waited in the lobby for guests checking in. Friendly desk attendants greeted us and our request for a room downstairs was fulfilled. Comfortable bed, coffee maker and refrigerator in room, great location.
one of the nicest Hotels for the price. The weather was great the walk nothing like it and the ocean view and your in the country of the giant red woods There are so many things to see such a cheese factory a short distance away all with very friendly people.
Have lodged with Best Western in 7 different states. Impressed with the unvarying high standard of room and service. The only lack noticed is that Best Western's internet service is often 'unsecured'.
This was a motel and very noisy. I have stayed at BW before and this was a disappointment. People smoking right outside their rooms, a walk in the morning for coffee in the cold and lots of work trucks. The room was clean and the bed comfortable but I will not recommend this BW.
Big changes at the BW not as good as the past eight years that I have been going there. Breakfast selection has gone down and is not as good room amenities have changed and are not as good as the past. Internet was below par.
If you are staying in the Eureka/Fortuna/Scotia area this is a nice place to stay. A little far from the downtown but close to the river. Nice place and location. Amenities are good for a motel and they generally have a warm environment.
I usually stay here while traveling on the coast. I did like the breakfast before they changed things around but they now offer a breakfast sandwich all ready to go which is convenient. This hotel is centered around being ecofriendly without coming out and saying it. Which can be both good and bad for you depending on what you expect from a hotel.
great experience, all employees were helpful and friendly. Bed and pillows were very comfortable. The coffee and breakfast was very good. Would recommend to our family and friends. Very close to restaurants.
Surprised and disappointed to find a big jet tub in our bedroom. Desk clerk said that's what I ordered, but I did not, and they could not move us to a normal room. No elevator. Thin blanket, no comforter. Slow internet. Out of coffee at breakfast. $143 seemed high for this.
Very comfortable accommodation. Great Breakfast. Easy access off Highway 101. Quiet location. Would highly recommend this property to anyone wanting good accommodation at a reasonable price in Northern California just off the Pacific Coast Highway.
The staff is friendly and helpful. Our room was very clean, the bed was nice and comfortable and best of all the pillows were the best! Cannot comment on the breakfast because we ate else where. You really should give this place a try, I`m sure you will like it. They even have picnic benches and bbq`s outside on a lawn area.
I have stayed here before, so it was a return visit for me. The property is very well kept and easy to get to from the freeway . This was a last minute reservation, so the choice of rooms was thin. I ended up in a suite with a huge spa/ tub in the corner that I am sure would be appreciated by the right person, not me. I just needed a nice soft bed and quiet surroundings after a long day! That's what I got. Breakfast was ok depends on your tastes I suppose.
We enjoyed staying at the Best Western Country Inn. We have stayed at other hotels in Fortuna, but because of the TA higher rating, and a similar price to another hotel we have stay at before, we chose to try it. We are glad we did. It deserved the higher rating, and it was a nice stay, even in the rain.
GSA recommended Pub nearby and it was excellent it was a nice clean hotel with plenty to do. Easy access to HWY 101. The entire team members were welcoming and warm. No need to worry about the hospitality service at this hotel. Housekeeping doing excellent work and the hotel was clean neat and organized.
Six great days in Fortuna. Motel was excellent. Good breakfast, wonderful staff and the price was right. Convenient location in Country setting. Would definitely recommend to friends and family and look forward to our next visit.
Conveniently located to access Redwoods park. Room was clean, comfortable and nicely appointed. Hot breakfast was good. Eel River brew pub is within walking distance and had good food in a casual atmosphere.
Very nice hotel,in the office they welcome you with water/coffee /fruit and cookies! The stuff was wonderful and friendly special the man that worked the morning of September 11th. He was very helpful telling us what was the best way to go to Yosemite Park. I did remember his name.. The room was very clean the beds very comfy and we had very pleasant stay there. They even had the tv remote sanitized! Great price for a nice room with fridge/microwave/coffee pot, nice big TV and good internet connection!
Room was very nice and comfortable. Tv could be waaay bigger. The remote doesn't have a button that shows whats on tv only the channels. The bed was nice and pillows too. They give you more coffee in the room than the other hotels. We would stay here again.
Excellent clean rooms Nice bath towels Sanitized tv remote Refrigerator and microwave in room Good price Clean clean rooms much appreciated Good hot breakfast Nice that electric plugs are situated in the lamps
This property bills itself as pet friendly but that is a stretch. They charge $20 which ONLY includes access to your room and a small patch of grass. The hotel is surrounded by other hotels and businesses so there is no place to walk your dog without getting in your car and driving to a park or residential area. For me, this is a major drawback. The room itself was fine but I question their housekeeping - the recycle bin in the room was full from the prior guest and while there was a boxed guest soap on the vanity, the box was empty - wouldn't the housekeeper notice the box was empty when they wiped down the vanity? In the plus column, the towels were very white and fluffy! Upon check-out I asked for a receipt but was informed that because I booked through Expedia they could neither tell me the rate I had paid for the room nor could they print a receipt. Really? Inexcusable.
This hotel is friendly, clean, and had great breakfast choices. The coffee was good, the room service was excellent, and the front desk staff was wonderful even with my complicated stay. Great location too.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the Best Western Fotuna Hotel. The hotel staff, our room & the food were all good. However, the pool & spa area need a complete overhaul. They were not only old, but tiles were black from either mold or age. Part of the pool is indoor, part outdoor. The indoor area smelled like a well used gym.
With courteous staff and great conditions and great food this is the place to stay. We come back here twice a year to attend activities in Ferndale and this works well for us. The Danish group we are with all enjoy this location.
The front desk staff here was very friendly and welcoming during our stay. They were also proactive in notifying us of an issue with the water in the room. There was a leak in a city pipe which caused the water to be shut off of an hour or so. We noticed the lack of water pressure after we checked in. Before I could call the front desk to request assistance, they were on the phone to us, letting us know what the situation was. The facility is pet friendly. Their policy specifies that pets may not be left unattended in the room, but we were able to leave our quiet, small dog in his crate in the room when we went to dinner, and there didn't seem to be an issue with this. I'm sure that if a destructive or noisy pet were left unattended, the hotel would take exception to this and contact the owner to rectify the situation. Our room was clean, comfortable and quiet. It is not located directly on the highway, so we didn't hear any traffic noise. This place seems to be popular with business travelers, particularly folks in the trades, so we did hear a number of diesel pick-up trucks firing up early in the morning, as these guests headed out to work. But this wasn't an issue for us, as we got an early start both mornings during our stay. And we enjoyed chatting with some of these workers one evening when we encountered them in the parking lot. There are two decent restaurants within walking distance from the hotel. There is also a small, well-maintained lawn with picnic tables and a barbecue grill for guests' use and a nice looking swimming pool. They serve a hot breakfast buffet which included scrambled eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy. Nothing special, but it sufficed. Bottom line: This is a nice facility, and we would definitely stay here again if we are in the area. A few other pros and cons: Pros: *Rooms include a coffee maker, refrigerator, and microwave. *The bathroom has a shower/tub combination. *They have free wi-fi, with good speed and connection. *The bathroom sink and vanity are in a separate area from the shower and toilet, and the vanity had ample room to lay out one's toiletries. *Complimentary waste disposal bags are provided in the pet-walking area. Cons: *Our room had two queen beds. We would have preferred a king-sized bed. *Instead of offering small, individual shampoo, soap and conditioner, there was a dispenser for these items attached to the wall in the shower. It was mounted under the shower head. Fine if you are taking a shower, but inconvenient if you are taking a bath. It is the kind of feature that I associate with lower-end properties and with the shower rooms at the gym. *The tub stopper was the type that had a rubber seal around it. The one in our room was finicky, and I couldn't get it to seal shut, so I had to push a washcloth on top of it in order to get the tub to fill. *There was a limited selection of tea bags at the breakfast buffet. Our room had plain, black tea bags by the in-room coffee maker, but these weren't available at the breakfast buffet, and the fellow at the front desk said that they didn't have any black tea for the buffet. *The pet walking area was poorly lit in the early morning hours. I saw a security light mounted on the back of the hotel, but it wasn't on when I walked my dog at 5:30 a.m. This made me feel a little unsafe, and it made it difficult to see what I needed to see in order to pick up after my dog. If you are going to be walking your dog before it's light out, you will probably want to take a flashlight with you.
At over $180 per night, you would expect a view property or something closer to a major attraction. The clanking of the laundry carts in the early morning was quite noisy as were the trucks starting up. The breakfast pastries were cold and stale. The room was nice enough but not worth the cost.
My family stayed here the last 3 nights. The Inn appears to be fairly new, it has that new Inn smell. The rooms are very clean and well maintained. The only downfall we found was that the bathroom area was a bit small. Other then that this is a nice place to stay. The beds were very comfortable. They offer a full breakfast with your stay. They have a pool and Hot Tub. It location in near the Avenue Of Giants drive, very convenient.
Extremely clean place with a very nice and helpful staff. Got the last Dog friendly room and they give you treats and bags for your pet The breakfast was great with a large selection. If in area again I will definitely stay there.
Nice location, hot tub in room, food staff, clean room - hard to ask for much more. Overalll a nice break after 1000 mikes in the road. Check out the excellent food and beer at brewpub just down block.
As a Best Western Rewards Member we always stay at their hotels. This one particular hotel was TOP NOTCH! The staff is so friendly and accommodating and the grounds were very clean. Breakfast was delicious including biscuits and gravy, waffles, eggs, sausage, etc. we stayed in the Redwood Suite which accommodated our family if 6 plus fur buddy with TONS of space for the kids to stretch out and play. Pool and hot tub area was very nice too. I would definitely recommend staying here! As we will again I'm sure!
Nice hotel. One of the better BW. Nice rooms. Breakfast is not as good as it used to be since change of owners. Walking distance to good restaurants. The indoor/outdoor pool is nice. Staff is good and helpful.
We stayed here while we visited Eureka and Ferndale - convenient to both. The room was spacious and well appointed - loved the spa and pool area and the breakfast. It is close to the Redwood Highway which is good and bad - only bad in that the 18-wheeler drivers park nearby and when they startup and move - the quiet is broken. Not a major issue.
We had a very pleasant stay. Our king room had a refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker. It was easy to find off the Interstate, close to town, restaurants, gas, etc. It did have a pool that was partial inside and part outside. It would have been a tiny pool if only the inside portion was open. Our room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was typical, nothing special. The staff was friendly and helpful. One nice touch was a package of cookies in the room, they happened to be my favorite peanut butter cookies!
My girls loved the cookies they have in the lobby. The receptionist is very nice and quick. The hotel and room is very clean. There is a refrigerator and microwave in the room. Which is perfect for any leftovers you may have from the funky monkey restaurant that is within walking distance. Beautiful location with pretty flowers around Took a little swim in the pool and jacuzzi with my little one. The pool and surrounding area is tidy and clean They had some mango, strawberry and blueberry fruit that went with the waffles We would definitely stay again when traveling up the West coast to Oregon
I chose this location because it's well situated for visiting Humboldt Redwoods State Park, Ferndale, etc. It's also not too far for visiting the Redwood National and State Parks further north. I was pleasantly surprised at how nice the room was. The free breakfast and coffee before starting out for a day of hiking was perfect.
Very easy place to find. It's a very nice place. Convenient location to freeway and restaurants. Very friendly and helpful staff. Large spacious room and very clean. On this trip we have stayed at several Best Western Plus hotels and have been very happy with all of them.
We stayed here with our three kids as a stop on a drive from Oregon to Los Angeles. What a great choice! Room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. And every single staff member we passed on the grounds had a smile and a friendly hello. The kids loved that the pool was half indoors and half out! Would definitely recommend to other travelers.
If you've stayed here, I know you loved it like myself and my family did. If you havent, you simply must! Discovered it by accident and I sure feel lucky I did. It's like a shangrila, words can hardly describe it! You must see for yourselves.
Nice location between Red Wood national parks. Just off the highway. Gluten free options available for breakfast, just had to ask. Recommend Double D Steak House locally, good quality and lots of food.
Was very relaxing and quite. Bed was extremely comfortable. Service was great and even gave me a gift bag for my puppies that were traveling with me. Would definitely go back and highly recommend it!!
We have stayed at this motel multiple times, and PURPOSELY stay there because of the great breakfasts, and the beautifully kept flowers and grounds. We call this the Nutter Butter motel because of the wonderful cookies left in our room. You can tell the employees CARE about the appearance of the grounds and the guest rooms. Everyone is friendly and very helpful making this our go-to place when we're in the Fortuna area.
We loved this hotel. We did the PCH using Best Western gift cards (cashed in travel card points) so we stayed at about 6 different BW's. This one was the crown jewel of them all (as well as others in D.C. and around MO). I'm allergic to the cookies, so didn't eat them, but they smelled almost good enough to risk it. Everything about our visit was pleasant. Can't recommend it highly enough.
beautiful planter beds. just always a pleasant stay . for a small town in a out of the way place it is worth stopping the night at. easy access, breakfast is always better than a trip to Mickey Dee's close to a brew pub which is nice.
Great location, clean and affordable, and pet friendly. The amenities in the room were far better than most hotels I've stayed at. What a treat to find a package of cookies next to the coffee pot. My small dog was given a doggie bag full of treats and a toy. I will stay here again and recommend it to travelers.
Enjoyed lovely weather and accommodations in Friendly Fortuna. Our daughter loved the swimming pool. It was a little farmyard in smell from the Calornia happy cows across the street, but we slept well.
This is a clean facility with updated rooms. They offer an excellent self serve breakfast with hot food so you can start your day without having to go to a local cafe. Convenient location for exploring the Northern California coastal area. We will be back to do the "Lost Coast Loop"
We stayed here four nights without any issues. The room was clean, there were fresh homemade cookies in the lobby every day. The people behind the counter were very nice, and the included breakfasts were very good with home-made waffles, eggs, sausages, biscuits, the usual fresh fruits and dry cereals.
We just stayed one night at this BW on our way to hike in the redwoods. The room was large, clean, and well furnished. The Internet, however, was either weak or non-existent during our visit. Noise from the road and from other guests chasing their dang pets (our room was by the pet poop lawn) necessitated ear plugs. A big kudo for the great breakfast offerings and the lady who kept the area in order and replenished. In contrast, the front desk people were neither welcoming at check-in nor appreciative of my business at check-out. This is an above average place to stay.....just be picky about your room location. Perhaps a better location would also result in a better internet experience.
Been on the road for almost 2 months-this is the best property of the whole trip so far. Beautifully maintained hotel, inside and out. Web site pix don't do it justice. Skip staying in Eureka and stay here. Nicer, cleaner, less expensive, and the drive just isn't that far. Me, mum, and the dog stayed in the Sequoia Suite-a large 2B/1B apartment. There's a connecting door to (I assume) the business office, so it was probably an on-site manager apartment at one time. It's right next to the laundry, but was still quiet. Grounds and exterior are meticulously maintained, so I assume the other rooms are also. Ours certainly was. Saw not one, but three, different maintenance people working on property. One of them hooked up a hose for me to clean my dog off after a trip to the local dog park (less than 5 minute drive), and I waited less than 5 minutes after asking at the desk. Dog station/bags provided, and lots of room to walk the dog around the circle and along the levee on the Eel River behind the Conference Center. Breakfast was standard but ample. Sounded like the kids loved the indoor/outdoor pool. Quiet and well lit at night. Walking distance to Eel River Brewing. Stay on the sidewalks during rush hour cuz traffic flies down these roads! Micro and small fridge only, even though it's a suite. Would definitely stay here again.
Have always had good luck with BW's, & this was no exception. Nice sized, clean rooms, with comfortable bed. The grounds are well kept, and there was little, if any, noise, despite being close to a busy road. Staff was friendly and helpful. We had our dog with us, and there was a treat bag waiting for her. Breakfast was one of the better ones we've had, with a variety of choices. Was within walking distance of Eel River Brewing Company, and that in itself would be a reason to stay. Have stayed in many BW's. This is one of the top 5. No offense to Arcata & Eureka, but if you are coming from the north, head for Fortuna.
After a very long drive up from San Francisco, the wife and I were beat. This hotel had curb appeal for days, what a beautiful setting. The front desk clerk was very helpful and friendly, the free cookies were a big help too! The room was immaculate, bed very comfortable. The breakfast was also excellent. We stayed for 3 nights and they had different food each morning. We've done a lot of traveling and stayed at a lot of hotels, but this was by far my favorite one. I highly recommend staying here!!!!
A great place to take a break and visit the redwoods and family in the area. I would stay there again and enjoy the breakfast bar, but it would be nice if deasil trucks didn't idle in the parking lot.
If your heading to the Humboldt Area please don't go any further than Fortuna for a hotel. The Best Western Country Inn is a great stop and stay Hotel. Its clean, comfortable and the staff is very nice. Its a little older but very well kept up. The hotel surrounds the parking lot so your parking is centered inside the hotel grounds. Easy on and off the 101 but no freeway noise. I have stayed a few time at this Hotel and another close by and equally comfortable. But I do prefer The Best Western Country Inn as my 1st choice.
This was one of the BWs we've stayed at this year. It was clean and well kept up. Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast had more options and better quality product than most. Friends staying at a nearby hotel said the BW was a nicer facility. We would choose to stay there again if we returned to Fortuna.
This motel is a great place to stay in Fortuna. Very clean and well run. The breakfast is a bonus. Close to freeway and street, so there is a bit of noise at times, but not too bad. The rooms are very large and nicely decorated. I like having power outlets very easy to access for recharging.
Best motel in Fortuna. We have stayed in town on multiple trips and this motel is the best in town. I would recommend this motel without reservation. Our stay have always relaxing. Bed quality and clean rooms are always above expectations.
This is a beautiful hotel with lush plants and flowers. The staff are very pleasant and helpful and the rooms are clean and comfortable. The breakfast is very very good. We stay here every year and it just gets better and better.
Not walking distance to anything, but quiet spot, easy parking, large rooms, good bed and towels. Breakfast is standard but coffees are outstanding. Wifi is very reliable. A good spot from which to explore the Redwood Highway and cute Victorian village of Ferndale.
I'd stay here again. Clean room and the staff were nice to us. We had a problem with the next door TV being on too loud at 730 AM, and there was a sound of two dogs barking/whining all night long. One of the dogs was inside a truck in the parking lot, the other dog, we couldn't see.
Great place to stay if you're going to explore the big redwoods or the towns of Fortuna or Scotia. Great attentive staff that jumps through hoops to make your stay comfortable. The breakfast buffet is one of the best in the BW system.
We love this hotel and stay there every time we drive down the coast to visit family. It's clean and comfortable, but most of all the folks there do everything they can to make you feel at home. The landscaping is beautiful and I love to sit near the window in their breakfast room and watch the birds outside as they nibble from the bird feeder.
We had booked this motel due to its close proximity to the Redwoods. We were very impressed..very friendly and obliging reception staff. The breakfast which was included was more than adequate. Rooms were very clean, spacious and comfortable. Would certainly recommend this motel. A visit to the little township of Fortuna is also a.must!
Wonderful stay at the Best Western in Fortuna. The location is very quiet, and across the street from a pasture. At breakfast, there is a lovely view of the Jersey cows. The staff were all very friendly, the room was very clean. The location was very quiet & peaceful.
Perfect rooms - everything works. Clean and spacious, ample amenities, pleasant atmosphere, and a superb buffet breakfast. Nothing fake! Easy access from Highway 101. Friendly staff. A little expensive but we got good value for our money.
We booked a pet-friendly room for two nights. The room was large, very clean, and included everything you could need to make your stay pleasant. It had a hair dryer, iron and ironing board, microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker and did I say, it was very clean. The breakfast included bacon, sausages, hash browns, and many other items.
Long road trip, late night, needed a place to rest. This was a great Best Western for that. Friendy staff, quick check-in. I let the kiddos swim in the morning before checkout, Pool area was really nice. Would stay here again and recommend.
I stayed here with friends recently on a trip to the area and was pleased with the stay. That said, this is a stop by the highway if you happen to need accommodations in area - it is not a destination. We found our room to be ample. A fridge and microwave were provided. Everything was very clean and the internet was complimentary and worked well. There were some picnic tables outside with grills. We did not sample these but these could be a nice option if you were staying longer. The property also offered an ample (and included) breakfast with many choices. Although I don't often look for lodging in an unplanned way when driving through an area, this was my situation this time around. My group chose this property and it worked out well.
After a long day of driving the "Lost Coast" we were happy to come lay our heads here. At check in they offered cookies and had fresh fruit and Hershey's kisses available with fresh pineapple water and all the usual coffee, tea and hot cocoa options. They have an indoor/outdoor pool, nice sized rooms with fridge and microwave. Breakfast included sausage, egg and cheese on English muffins, hash browns, eggs, bacon, pastries, cereal, waffles, and much more with juices, yogurt, fruit etc. you can get a pretty hearty breakfast and hold you over all day if you grab an apple and banana to go. Fill up that coffee mug and on the road again.
We checked in after midnight and the staff was very pleasant to work with after a long day of traveling. The rooms were clean and the beds were very comfortable! We stayed here to be close to the Humboldt Redwood Forest. The free breakfast was exceptional. Would highly recommend.
I was impressed with this particular Best Western. Very helpful and friendly staff. Hotel grounds were well-kept and hotel room was nice and clean. I also really liked that you had access to a local gym. Definitely exceeded my expectations!
This BW should be an A+! The rooms are attractive & clean; the beds extremely comfortable. The staff all seem happy to work there, attentive, caring & professional. The free breakfast is outstanding. With a hot tub and heated indoor/outdoor pool, it is my first and only choice in the area.
This Best Western is the best for caring for their guests, we cannot say enough good things regarding the staff. In all our years of staying in this Best Western we have not had one unhappy time. This is for us is a very special place where we feel we are family, we are treated as family. Our rooms are never a disappointment, always very clean, attractive and comfortable. We say BRAVO to excellent staff and management. Well done and thank you, for caring and making our travel visits delightful.....we look forward to our visits.......
This "Country Inn" was just that...cozy, clean and welcoming. The staff was friendly and helpful. Room was clean and fresh. Breakfast was very good also. There pool and spa looked so inviting, although we did not use. Would recommend this Best Western.
The staff, appearance and overall service at the hotel was great. We were traveling with our dog and are not always confident with our accommodations. The BW was perfect in every way. I am a travel agent and am personally and professionally aware of requests guests make. We would definitely stay here again.
Unexpected stay in town with our pooches led to us finding this spot, and we're glad we did. Great room, nice dog walk spot and the fine Riverwalk trail nearby, great breakfast. We will likely stay here again.
This facility is very attractive and is in a convenient location (close to the freeway, the downtown, and to a hiking path along the Eel River). The room was comfortable, and the complimentary breakfast was much better than the usual breakfast buffet at comparable hotels.
The check in was quick, staff was kind and professional and the room was very clean and comfortable. In fact, the in room hairdryer was the best I have ever experienced. It's those little details that make the difference!
Very impressed with cleanliness of hotel and grounds. Groundskeepers even seen cleaning on a Saturday! Didn't have time to use the pool, but it looked clean and inviting. Breakfast staff never let anything run low, and kept spills at bay while keeping tongs available. Would definitely stay here again.
Please place some sort of seating for the incoming guests to be comfortable while waiting to check- in also have a designated area for smoking, at or near the check-in area, and may-be a ash tray or a place to extinguish their cigarettes
This hotel is party central in Fortuna apparently. If you want to do something like get sleep, pick another hotel. I told the front desk about the large group of men on the 2nd floor above us, sitting out front, drinking and talking way too loudly. I mentioned this was my 2nd complaint and wanted to be moved to another room. He couldn't have cared less...didn't apolgize and said they can be there until 10pm. As a Diamond member, I'm stunned at the lack of service and how little this hotel cares about the noise level. I'll be taking my business to other hotels going forward.
Traveling with my husband and two dogs (they don't discriminate, we paid $20/dog). Only has two stories with doors facing outside. Pet area is pretty wimpy with just a patch of grass but they do provide doggy bags. I was pretty impressed how clean they keep it with the heavy food traffic that goes through (there was a large group of construction workers staying for the night). Beds were comfortable, rooms smelled fresh, toiletries on point (eco friendly by providing bulk dispensers in the shower), refrigerator/microwave, surprisingly quiet, etc. Basically anything you might need they try to provide for you. I wouldn't say its a vacation spot but if you are doing a road trip up the north coast great place to stop by for a night to rest. The continental breakfast was probably the best we've had in a three star hotel. We would definitely be back again if coming through this area.
Best hotel we have stayed in when visiting Fortuna, CA. We had tried several others but were disappointed. We would have tried Best Western but we did not realize you were pet friendly. So happy that you are! Your are our home away from home. Thank you.
This is the place to stay, with fresh cookies and coffee at all hours. A great breakfast, exceptionally clean rooms and a heated pool to sooth thoseweary bones when you have to travel. You won't be sorry if you choose this motel for your slumber. The staff is excellent, and very helpful! My husband had just had a knee replacement we called ahead of time, he was exhausted from the trip and they let us check in early. They were awesome, also pet friendly, taking our pets with us can be sometimes stressful but not here there were very easy to work with which is a real plus!
Large rooms and the place is spotless. There are employes everywhere dusting and cleaning and our room, which was a basic 2 queen, was very spacious. Breakfast was great with a much larger selection than most with a free breakfast. Waffles, eggs, bacon, sausage with biscuits and gravy. Fruit salad, oatmeal, anything you can think of toasting. Fresh fruit and tea and coffee in the lobby 24 hours a day. Staff really nice too,
Over the years we have used Best Western Fortuna repeatedly when travelling to the North Bay area. We have found it suitable whether on business or in the area for pleasure. Good for travel when we have our 2 dogs with us as well.
These folks are impressive over-achievers in providing a spotless and large room with super comfortable King bed. Lots of thoughtful extras and a range of breakfast food to satisfy everyone (from granola, fresh fruit and yogurt to eggs, biscuits and gravy). Helpful staff.
We were on a 10-day trip over which we stayed in 9 different hotel/motels. This Best Western is a quiet, clean, and restful place to stay. It had the best breakfast of anywhere we stayed that week. And being walking distance to Eel River Brewing did not hurt either!
Pleasantly surprised! we had a terrific stay here visiting family. Our room was clean with a king bed and a jacuzzi tub. The breakfast in the lobby was great. The women working were so nice and helpful. What makes this place a 5 for us was all the little things that make one feel welcome and at home. Upon arrival, in the lobby, cookies, Hershey kisses, coffee and tea. we had a little visitor who came to see us and he loved the cute set up of trick or treating for the kiddies with gummy bears and lollipops. The room has so much to mention, great hair dryer, a dispenser of shampoo, conditioner and body wash. fluffy towels and terry cloth robes. fridge with freezer, great TV with many channels. chair with ottoman, and more cookies in the room. although we didn't try it, there is a indoor/ outdoor pool and hot tub. Also, an area for pets to do their business, too! we will definitely stay here again and bring our pooch next time. thanks for the hospitality, you are doing a great job! we were spoiled! you raised the bar so high we were so severely disappointed with the best western we stayed at in willits, ca., the following evening.
Super clean, quiet, great location and excellent value. Would stay there again for sure. Breakfast was decent. Being a Best Western, I wasn't expecting a lot. This place definitely exceeded my expectations.
Reservation made via phone with a very helpful staffer. She accomplished the impossible to find a room for us with our pet. No rooms available anywhere due to a convention and activity in town :-( Our stay was very pleasant: very quiet room made for a good nights sleep. Breakfast was very good with area kept clean and well stocked. Express checkout was available but we just checked out at the front desk. This was fast and easy. We come here often to visit family in Fortuna and will make Best Western our first choice from now on...
I have enjoyed the location of this hotel as great base to enjoy the Redwoods and the California north coast. If you don't lock in your rate you may be disappointed, However I will return to this place great staff and clean hotel.
This is a very inviting, pretty place to stay. The grounds are landscaped beautifully. It has the feel of an inn with the amenities of a larger hotel. The room was immaculate and comfortable. Microwave, nice refrig, fast & seamless WIFI. Breakfast included eggs, meat, fruit hot/cold cereal/yogurt. Excellent coffee available 24/7! Great looking pool/indoor spa that I did not sample. The staff were friendly and professional--every one of them. No, I do not work for them!
Clean, spacious rooms, everything in working order. The hot breakfast is very good and is not the same each morning, and I appreciated little things like a variety of jams (so often there's just grape), hazelnut flavoring for the coffee, herbal teas, whipped cream for the cocoa. There is also fruit and chocolate kisses in the lobby. There is a card to hang on the door to say what time you'd like your room made up. No noise from other rooms. Adequate parking. I would definitely stay there again.
They serve a full breakfast, with eggs, sausage, ham, cereal, waffles, etc. They are pet friendly, and there's a nice walking area behind the hotel, along the Eel River. If you're looking for a central place to be while visiting the Redwoods, this is a good one.
We have stayed at this hotel every time we visit this area. The whole staff is friendly and helpful. the rooms are great, and the breakfast they offer is the best. No other hotel we've stayed in offers an on-site breakfast like this hotel.
We made a late booking while driving. The room was Large, clean and fresh with an excellent mattress. Breakfast was a 10. All the usual items with better than average coffee and fresh fruit. Super clean place, nice recent updates to shower. Nice restaurant in walking distance. Can't beat it.
Had an excellent stay at this hotel. Used it as a base for travel to Avenue of the Giants, Grizzly Creek, etc. Room was comfortable, staff was nice, they served a hearty spread for breakfast. Minor quibbles: 1) My credit card didn't go through on the first try because "the transmitted a bad code" according to the card issuer, kind of annoying but have them run the card again 2) Very weird parking lot decorum, people just wandered around the parking lot regardless of where cars were, etc. and we even had a motorcycle park in such a way to block the entire entrance. So be careful!
I already answered this in my comments. My daughter, grandchildren and myself had a very nice stay. Everyone was so nice. Loved the bed and pillows. It was so nice to be able to get a full on breakfast. We had 2 small children, really nice not to have to pack them up to search out a restaurant . I would stay again.
When traveling in northern California via US101 we always stop at the Best Western Country Inn in Fortuna, CA. Everything is top notch, to include the hot breakfast in the morning, and the personnel are always very friendly and helpful.
Upon driving up to the property, it looked like a motel. But upon entering the room, it looked nicer. However, we were dismayed (and somewhat nervous) to see tons campers in tents!!! literally right outside the back bedroom window. I was concerned about security, since it was wooded and secluded. Also, since it's set up like a motel, we were awakened by people talking "loudly" right outside and below our room. Other than those issues, it was an okay overnight stay. We were disappointed in that we had requested a "quiet" room, and worked diligently to ensure that we would have that before arriving. Having experienced this hotel, we would stay somewhere else because of the noise. That being said, the beds were comfortable. We had a room they called a mother-in-law suite with a king bed in the main room and a queen bed in a separate bedroom. It was a treat for our teenage son, who'd been sleeping on sofa beds during our 2-week road trip. He enjoyed finally having a bed! The rooms are nicely decorated. All the extras were provided, including extra luggage racks - and a Nutter Butter candy. We appreciated all those amenities. Mostly, though, we were grateful for comfortable beds and a clean room! Thank you Best Western Country Inn!
It was pretty noisy when we got there due to a number of motorcycles pulling in, but it calmed down before we went to bed. We stayed on the second (top) floor, so overhead noise wasn't a problem. The guest laundry was pretty expensive at about $4 total, and they had only one washer and dryer. However, the laundry room was clean and we got our load in right away, possibly because the web site for the hotel doesn't mention that they even have guest laundry facilities. The front desk had quarters so that wasn't a problem. The hotel had trash cans and recycling on the stairs, which was convenient.
We knew in advance that this was not an elegant hotel; that said, we were very pleased by our two-night stay. Nice touches ---- disinfecting the TV remote is one example. Easy and free wifi. Much better breakfast options than most hotels at this level of lodging. Swimming pool worked well for our grandsons. The town of Fortuna is nothing special but it's proximity to the Avenue of the Giants, Ferndale, Scotia and the ocean made it a good place to stay.
We stayed here because we had such a great experience at the Best Western in Arcata and we needed a place for one night on our way back to Seattle. Fortuna is a convenient stopover. We found this property to be overpriced as compared to the Arcata Best Western and not nearly as nice. The location is most surely just a stopover for travelers as it is surrounded by a field.
Planned a trip to the redwoods and really reasearched our best options for price and felt Best Western would do the trick. Upon arrival, found it clean, upkept grounds, lovely landscaping. Great smooth check in, well explained amenities and hours. One thing I thought may have been helpful was to be reminded/advised that the refrigerator is not left on to save power. No ussue with this in theory however not knowing until we went to place cold/frozen items in the cute and ample sized mini frig and saw the sign IN THE FRIG to turn it on was a bit of a set back. We had to wait a couple hours for it to cool down to use. Our room was well laid out and spotless. Soft robes, towels and sparkling apple juice n water to enjoy. The robes wrre great after using the whirlpool tub. It was soooo nice and relaxing after a day if travel. The bed linen was soft and not overly heavy yet cozy. The bed itself was firm n supportive yet confirming. Both my spouse and I struggle with 'concrete' like mistresses and we both slept very comfortably. Breakfast was pretty standard, scrambled eggs, sausage patties, bacon, hash browns, make your own waffles, yogart variety, hard boiled eggs, bread for toast l, cold cereal, juices, fruit, etc... All in all, ok flavor if the prepped hot items, nothing out of this world however very fresh n hot. The waffle batter actually had great flavor and their coffee was some of the best around!!! While we didn't have need for the pool or hot tub, it looked clean and was happy to see the pool was partially covered for either rain orrrrr on a scorching day so you could swim and not be in the sun. The hotel was super quiet despite being right off the freeway and access road to other hotels. We were in rm 229 at the top of the stairs which i was a bit concerned with but only heard a bit if noise of guests arriving. The only real noise We heard was the adjacent room's tv via the common wall. Rather surprising as it wasnt that loud yet could hear it easily even with ours on. It was was a plesant surprise at the nice, large flat screen tv. Unusual that the cable service had no guide other to what was on a station, only the channel station listing. Just had to keep going til you found something. Just an observation, certainly not a complaint ?? We were really thrilled at our choice and with the AAA discount, felt it was well worth the price we paid and we will definitely be returning. Only complaint would be the flowers growing at the enhances, while lovely, impeded your vision of Kenmar and made it very diffucult to safely see oncoming traffic. I saw others having the same trouble. Easy fix with some nippers ?? While we had no pet, they are pet friendly ????
great location with easy on and easy off freeway access. lovely landscaping and plenty of parking. friendly check in/check out staff, so welcome after traveling all day! room / shower / bed / amenities are wonderful. breakfast room can get a wee bit crowded - since it only seats 26. there are a few 'trays' available for lobby seats, if desired. there's not a heck of a lot or room to maneuver around the breakfast offerings. bacon AND sausage, yum. hash browns were very good. biscuits and gravy were there - i don't do those, but people seemed to really be enjoying them. variety of breads, bagels, yogurts, juices, plus waffles and fruit... you can't miss staying here. a great place!
Hotel was comfortable and we were able to have our small dog with us. We left a pair of earrings on the nightstand and were able to call the hotel and they found them and mailed them to me. They were concerned and courteous.
Did not want to leave. Stop with my son on the way home from a month vacation in Oregon and was pleasantly surprised to find this Best Western. Great room, asked for and got a quite corner room, the pool was an added surprise.
Fortuna sits on the northern Calif.coast.After completing a trip through the Redwoods and visiting my mothers redwood tree we planted after she left us we traveled north to Fortuna. Our room at the Best Western was ready, inviting and we were warmly welcomed. The evening fog was just arriving, slowly creeping over the hills.Dinner at the Eel River Brewing Pub ,a lively local place topped off an incredible day.
Staff was very nice. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Bathroom was also clean. Outside exit doors to room; but safe area. Breakfast was very good with lots of options. We were glad we stayed here. The hotel was sold out during our stay, so we were glad we booked ahead. Other hotels in area did not look as nice.
This was a great motel, The rooms had everything that we needed for a quick one night stay on our way to McCloud on motorcycles. Beds were very comfortable, typical good Best Western breakfast and within walking distance of a good restaurant.
We enjoyed our time here, very clean and comfortable. Really good breakfast with scrambled eggs that actually had cheese on top and sausage that tasted like sausage. Overall this motel was a god value and it is close to many attraction the area provides
The room itself was nice. Spacious. Clean. And they have that extra country touch by offering cookies in the main office and I even saw a package of Nutter Butters next to my ice bucket. This is an exterior door hotel, which wasn't a sound issue for me. I stayed here as a place to crash after driving the Avenue of the Giants. Only possible cons is the location. I will say, from my room there was a pretty view. Mile or so of fields, with cows literally across the street from my door. Behind them hills and trees. Very pretty. As for the town of Fortuna, it's a small town. Don't expect to paint it red at night. The movie theaters latest movie showings was 7pm on a weekday. They only had one operational pizza delivery place at the moment. It's a sleepy country town. Which is perfectly fine as long as you weren't staying in the area expecting to tear it up at night. If you're looking for a nice country view and to relax, it's great.
We (family of four) stayed here on a Seattle to San Francisco road trip. The hotel was clean and well kept and our room was comfortable and spacious. There is a small pool. Reception staff were ok but we had few dealings with them. There are a couple of restaurants nearby and shops in the centre of town. Breakfast was ok but there is not enough seating-we had to sit in reception as did others.
This is very nice hotel located close to 101 Hwy. - a good stop if you travel from OR to CA or other the other way. The rooms are spacious with everything what you need. The team running the hotel is very nice. Hotel offers also a good breakfast (full).
Stayed here one night on the way to Oregon and to sight-see in Redwoods. Very spacious room, absolutely great shower. Very clean. Lots of healthy food for breakfast; just a little cramped for seating. We even got to use our Best Western Travel Cards Reward that were not usable at some places in the next city.
Check-in was very efficient. The rooms were very clean. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. The beds were very comfortable as were the excellent pillows. I would definitely stay there again.
We have a large family and 2 dogs and were able to get a nice double room for a decent price. It was loud at night however with the people overhead stomping around and every time someone went up the steps outside it woke is all up because it was loud. The breakfast was good though and it was a nice size room with two bathrooms which was wonder to have. Neither Phone in the room worked which didn't matter but we thought it was odd. We were also warned not to touch one of the window sills because it had just been painted that day. All and all it was an average experience. We stayed at another BW the following night which was a really negative experience so I'm not sure we will try this chain again anytime soon.
Room was spotless, friendly staff, good location. We arrived after a long drive and the easy access was appreciated. The staff was helpful and the inn, pet friendly. The breakfast was the best I have had for complementary breakfasts. The staff hurried to keep the coffee fresh, eggs and other food replenished. Checkout painless.
excellent value, quiet, great staff, good food and drink within walking distance. Easy freeway access, US 101, but no noise from traffic. Great mattress, I did not want to get out of the bed because I was so comfortable.
Good Hotel for the short term visit. Staff was very pleasant and helpful. Located right off the highway with easy on/off access. I would recommend this hotel The only down side was that there isn't much around the hotel which on the positive side can be a good thing. It depends on the traveler.
It is not easy to find a good hotel at a reasonable price in the Northcoast area of California. We discovered the Best Western Country Inn in Fortuna, Ca. and plan to make it our go to hotel in the Redwoods. The indoor-outdoor pool is great and the breakfast buffet was the best of all the hotels we used on this trip [ 6].
A very pleasant place from all angles; super good breakfast; eggs, potatoes, bacon, Kona coffee, fresh fruit, waffle and such available. Nice indoor/outdoor pool, very good service and whistle clean. Easy to get to from US 101 Quiet, easy parking, just as pleasant as can be
The staff were very nice and professional. The only thing that bothered me was the road noise. I tried to use the check out on the tv and it didn't work. Room was clean and had everything that you need. The refrigerator in the room keep everything ice cold.
The Best Western is within walking distance to at least 2 restaurants, and to a gas station. The property is very clean and the rooms are large and comfortable. Our check in and check out experience was very quick, and the staff was super-friendly. We were on an end unit, which had some road noise, but it quieted down at night. The bed is very comfortable. They also have breakfast in the morning with various items from which to choose. The only downfall to that is a limited seating area, but folks seemed to do quite well.
Attractive décor in office and grounds (rooms were nothing special). Interesting indoor/outdoor pool. Great breakfast. Very friendly staff in office, kitchen and housecleaning. Bed was super comfortable and rooms were quite ample. Bathroom was very clean. Only disappointment was that the Jacuzzi area closed at 10pm, which is quite standard, but we arrived at 10:40pm after a horrendous drive through fog over the mountain between Petrolia and Fortuna and all day long I'd been looking forward to that Jacuzzi. Oh well, next time!
We stayed here on during one of our trips to Oregon and although it was nice, it wasn't worth the price. We had a choice of a room with or without a Jacuzzi and chose the room with, for $20 extra, as we had been packing and loading and my back was sore. It turned out that the jets were on my feet, right knee and left hip. To get any of the jets on my back, I had to drain about 1/3 of the water and twist around with my head almost underwater. The room itself was nice and clean but nothing special. Breakfast was very good with lots of selections although the eggs had ham in it, so my wife who is Jewish, couldn't have them. Overall, I was not impressed. I've stayed in Super 8s that were almost as nice and for less than 1/2 the price. With the money saved I could have gotten a massage and been way ahead.
Super, large, well appointed room with fridge, microwave etc. Staff were very helpful and obviously knew the area well and were able to offer constructive advice of where to go eat or visit. Breakfast was buffet style but a HUGE choice - cereals, fruit juices, fresh fruit, variety of cooked choices, various breads. Staff were excellent at breakfast and we saw them going out of their way to help some young people make their choices. Highly recommend this hotel
Our stay at the Best Western in Fortuna was very nice, the room was clean and spacious, bed was very comfortable, internet worked well, Breakfast was very good, room was rather small, trays were provided to make your plate and take to room, which was very nice, they obviously know room can't seat many, definitely would stay again
It was comfortable, clean, well maintained. Coffee is 24/7 (what more can you ask for!). I'd stay there again. Couldn't find any faults with the room. Pet friendly too. Also has picnic areas with barbecue grills.
One of the few best hotel/inn I've been. The room is spacious with one of the most comfortable beds. Bathroom offers a variety of hand soaps, hand lotion and even your own tooth brushing kit. Our stay came with breakfast and it was great. With cereals, bacon, eggs, hashbrown, sausage patties and many more choices. Strong wifi that does not drop off. I can actually surf the net.
For the area the price was very reasonable. The breakfast was good as most Best Western Plus locations are. The jacuzzi king room was great. After doing lots of walking and hiking, it was nice to unwind with a glass of wine in the in-room jacuzzi, which was not much more expensive than the regular king room. The only thing to watch out for is the window looking out over the parking lot lets in a little too much sound, so if you're sleeping late, you may be disturbed.
All ratings are excellent. There is some road noise to contend with and also on hotter nights, refrigerated trucks may be running their AC during the night. If parked closed to the motel, it can be annoying.
At check in you know this is a will run property. The desk staff is friendly and helpful. Our room was as requested 2nd floor quite room. We had room 214 very nicely furnished King room and was quite. Wi-Fi service was very good. Breakfast is served in a nice room and had a good choice of food. There is a coffee in the lobby with cookies in the afternoon. Will return
For the most part this is a nice place to stay. Close to a few restaurants that are in walking distance. A nice place to also walk along the Ell River with or without a pet. Close to town and some other sight seeing places are also close.
We stayed in the suite with my in-laws & my two children. It was perfect! The kids bunked on the couch leaving two separate bedrooms for each of the adult couples. The only downside was sharing one bathroom between 6 people. The breakfast the next morning was quite nice & they even had breakfast sandwiches, which were perfect as we needed to leave quickly in the morning!
We stayed for three nights and were really pleased throughout our stay. My wife's mother recently moved to Fortuna so we're really happy that such a nice hotel is in Fortuna. Some key points: - Room was very clean and like how all the bedding is washed including - Even the TV remote is wiped down and put in its own cubby - Very quiet - Short two minute walk to a nice walking path along the Eel River - Pretty good brewery just five minutes by foot - Close to town, but not right in town. I prefer this as it feels more secluded while town is only a minute drive on the other side of the freeway. - Free snacks were a plus and the breakfast items were pretty decent. Even had plain greek yogurt without any extra ingredients. It's worth the few extra bucks a night over the other hotels in town. Absolutely zero complaints.
I stayed with some friends to do a fun drive on Highway 36 to Red Bluff. We booked the rooms and were very pleasantly surprised. The rooms are pretty large and in pretty new condition. When we checked in there was a bowl of fruit and some cookies in the lobby, which was very welcoming. The surroundings are nice and quiet and the grounds of the hotel are very clean and well kept. There is an interesting pool with half of it indoor and the other half outdoor. The breakfast was very satisfying with eggs, waffles, cereal, etc. I would definitely want to stay again if in the area.
We stayed 2 nights here while visiting my daughter. It was great and we had two large dogs with. we were very happy they had a pet area, clean rooms and a great breakfast! Will stay again and recommend.
Stayed here for one night and wanted to stay longer. Clean rooms, comfortable beds, everything was top notch. Quiet and peaceful. Cookies and coffee available at check in. Highly recommend this establishment.
There are many brands of hotels/motels and they all have their “pitch.” BEST WESTERN FORTUNA is in their own class. Clean, quiet and a great place to stay. Good food nearby, (Ell River Brewery) You'll wake up rested and ready to go! What more can you ask for?!!
clean, great service, large room, quiet, close to interstate, I can't say enough how this is a great hotel for the price. This hotel is close to both Ferndale and the ocean. Please see both. STAY here for a beatiful hotel
This Best Western is more like a B&B. I've never seen so much staff at one locations all actively assisting in making the stay pleasant. Housekeeping and grounds staff/maintenance and front desk are always all hands on deck. The rooms are spacious and clean. The complimentary breakfast is all inclusive; fresh fruit, hot eggs and meats, make your own waffles and oatmeal. The lobby always has fresh coffee. In the morning there's apples available, in the evening there's fresh cookies. They have infused water too. The laundry on site is well maintained and the dryer works very well. The pool is half inside with a swim under plexi-glass wall to the outside area. A river walk 3/4 mile trail is just a tenth of a mile up the road. The Eel river Brewing company is a block away with a great menu. A gas station is a block away too, with a mini mart. Town is a mile away with grocery stores and pharmacies.
We rested our heads here on our drive up the coast. Not only was it more reasonably priced than the other comparable hotels a little further north, but it was in a more scenic location. Staff were friendly, our room was clean, and it had all of the little extra amenities that make the difference. We'd stay here again.
We were looking for a "decent" hotel to spend the night. We happened upon this hotel and were surprised to find the staff and accommodations wonderful! The staff could not have been more helpful. The facility was quiet as for most who travel a lot have this as a concern. Would recommend to anyone passing through!
We loved this hotel. Great service, fresh cookies and chocolate every afternoon in the lobby. Wide range of breakfast items, including a hot egg dish. Staff was great in every aspect of the operations - friendly, helpful. Room was clean and pleasant. This was the best Best Western yet, for us!
Beautiful room and grounds -- lovely landscaping. Very friendly, helpful staff. Lovely riverwalk path close by. Staff recommended a local Mexican restaurant, La Costa. The food there was the best Mexican food we've ever had, by far. Don't miss it.
A great spot right off the beaten path to spend the night. Large clean rooms with a nice decor. Beds are comfortable and spotless. Coffee in the room and full breakfast. A short distance from the brewery that is a real treat after a long drive. Not cheap but not overly expensive
We were driving north on Hwy 101 and wanting to find a place to stay. It was getting late and many places were booked. I read the past reviews of the Best Western Country Inn (Fontana, CA)...all excellent! So, I decided to call. The Best Western rep was extremely helpful and very pleasant...wish I could remember his name (used to live in MN). When we arrived at 9 pm, the front desk clerk was there to greet us. He offered us beverages... coffee, tea, water. We walked into our room and couldn't believe how exceptionally clean, very well decorated, and added touches it had...table and 2 chairs, microwave, fridge, state of the art tv, even right down to the Nutter Butter cookies by the coffee pot! A full breakfast was included in the morning. Wish we had more time to stay!
Great place to stay. Price was right. The breakfast was fantastic. Friendly and helpful staff. The Motel is in a nice area. We will stay there again. This is the best place to stay on Riverwalk Drive. Close to a lot of things to do in the area.
I read some reviews so my expectations were for something not quite as nice. This property was clean. The staff was helpful. We had a noisy neighbor above us, but the staff took care of it. Nice large spacey rooms.
Our stay at the Best Western Country Inn, Fortuna, CALIFORNIA was excellent due to nicely maintained buildings and grounds. The hotel staff were all very accommodating, and seemed to be generally friendly people that always greeted us with a smile, a hello or a good morning. We felt very much at home, and will surely stay at this hotel again in the future when we visit the Eureka area.
We were on the road for 10 days this time and the Country Inn in Fortuna was by far the best. We would stay here again anytime. We were in an end room and I was worried the highway noise would be bothersome but the soundproofing was great. No problems at all.
Very large rooms, clean and tastefully decorated. Very comfortable beds. Very pleasant staff. Not fancy or cute but everything you need. Breakfast was okay- I stuck with the cereal. Some noise from neighboring rooms but there's no getting away from that at a hotel/motel.
We had a wonderful stay at Best Western Fortuna, California. The best pet friendly hotel we have very stayed in. Room was excellent and breakfast was great. Staff was courteous and helpful. We will stay at this hotel again!
This hotel was clean, but in serious need of updating. The desk staff seemed overworked and not able to adequately handle waiting customers. There is a laundry facility on-site, which was nice, since we were on a road trip. Breakfast area was too small and crowded.
We love this hotel for our semi-frequent trips to the Avenue of the Giants Marathon. The hotel is quiet, close to the Avenue, has friendly staff and a good inclusive breakfast. The staff are helpful. Overall an awesome experience for us.
A group of friends and I needed a place to stay and choose the Best Western Country Inn. We splerged and got a suite and we very happy with our choice. The room was wonderful. Having 2 seperate bedrooms and a sitting area gave us plenty of room. The room was clean and lovely. I wouls stay there are again next time I'm in the area.
Decided on this hotel based on like of Best Western hotels. Room was good, nice size, clean, no problems. Good shower, hot water with good pressure. Internet worked good.No noise problems, pretty quiet. Breakfast was usual fare, nothing special.
I am usually a Marriott person but we were visiting the Redwood forest and there were none around the Fortuna area. I was pleasantly surprised when I checked in there was a bowl of fruit and fresh cookies in the lobby along w with complimentary coffee and tea all day. The room was clean and spacious with fridge and microwave. The complimentary breakfast was also better than expected, eggs and waffles and more. Great place for a family.
One of the nicest Best Westerns we used. Very clean and attractive, hotel staff was friendly and very helpful. Nice breakfast with plenty of fruit. The room was spacious, clean and quiet. We had a small problem with the TV remote and the desk clerk came right away and replace the batteries, which solved the problem. It was close enough to the local Brewery that we we able to walk there for a great dinner.
My family lives in the area and this makes it easy to go from one family to another. This trip I had two family members birthdays to attend. Walking distance to to restaurants and close to town for other shopping. Good walk along the river.
My husband and I stayed a this motel for three days in mid March and again for a week at Easter. We had a King room on the first visit and 2 Queens on the second. Both rooms were large and well appointed. We had a microwave and a refrigerator with a separate freezer. The breakfast room looks out on a lovely garden with bird baths and feeders. Breakfast is ample and VERY well cooked. In addition to all the breakfast items homemade desserts were supplied very day. The best thing about this hotel is the staff. They want your stay to be comfortable and go out of their way to accommodate your every need. This motel merits revisits.
We arrived on a road trip. Pleasant and quiet. It is located south of the City of Fortuna in a nice business/light industrial area. Lots of other motels near it. A small shopping center is about 1 mile east of here. The main city is about 2 miles northwest of here. The night we stayed the rooms were filled. Yet, everyone seemed tired and quiet. Noticed a PG&E crew spending the night as well as a couple of California correctional officers. There is an indoor/outdoor pool. Within walking distance of Eel River Brewery. The desk people are very helpful. Ice water and cookies served during the day. Everything in our room worked. Besides getting a good nights sleep, the breakfast was phenomenal. Quite a spread of different things to choose from. You won't go away hungry. Good coffee selection as well. Great base to stay at if you are visiting the area for a few days to such spots as the Victorian town of Ferndale, the ocean, or the "Avenue of the GIANTS" redwood trees. Clean and comfortable. You are in a tsunami zone.
I spent one night here and enjoyed it. I didn't have a reservation so I took whatever they had. That turned out to be a 'disabled' room (queen bed). The room was enormous as was the bathroom. I guess that is because the room needs to be able to accommodate wheel chairs, etc. The bed was lovely and the television was loaded with channels. The owners even provided a small package of cookies on the coffee tray. Nice touch. The only downside was a bit humorous as well as annoying, It turns out, there is a gigantic garbage dumpster located behind the property and directly under the bathroom window of the room. When something is deposited in the dumpster, CROWS from everywhere descend on it and very loudly voice their opinions. In essence a Crow Party! I would stay here again and I recommend it.
As a person who stays at well over 100 nights in hotels, I very seldom give 5 stars. This property has earned it. I will give all the pro's and there will be no con's, simply because I can find none. Easy on and off freeway, fast and friendly check in and out, great rooms and given at a fair price, very clean. Easy parking, paper deliver to room, on the door handle not the floor. Pool and spa, half enclosed, very cool. Lobby is inviting and has local info available. Restaurants and gas within a couple blocks. Downtown within a couple miles. Breakfast, well they say full hot breakfast, and that is no joke. Better than one would expect. Full buffet, eggs, sausage, bacon, hash browns, waffles, gravy, boiled eggs, pastry, breads, yogurt and very fresh coffee. This will be my go to hotel when in this area. Great job to all at this hotel.
We had a wonderful night. The front desk lady was kind and helpful at check-in, she even joked around with my son a little and offered him a cookie. The room was clean and smelled very nice. We rented the room so my son could go swimming and we were very pleased with the pool area. The and hot tub were both super clean. The bathroom in the pool room was also super clean and we really appreciated that.
The beds were to hard and my back started hurting from sleeping on it. The internet was slow during the night and was almost dead at around 9:30pm. I'd been about as good sleeping on the floor vs the bed. The ISP in the location need to up their game if they want to compete in today's world.
Well kept hotel with very friendly and accommodating staff. They had a very good hot breakfast, including not overmicrowaved eggs like you get at too many places. The biscuits and gravy and breakfast sandwiches were surprisingly good. We had a large group that had trekked to Fortuna for a fabulous wedding for my neice, which was walking distance from the event facilities. Just a few minutes walk to the Eel River that has a levee on which you can take a walk or walk your pet. Had a great time!
Would not stay any other place. Staff was very supportive. Had and nice area for our dogs. Any questions we asked the staff gave us was so helpful. This is a major stop for us when traveling the coast. We have told friend about this Best Western and all have thank us for the recommendation. They also enjoyed their stay as much as us.
We have stayed here many times. The rooms are spacious, clean and very well appointed. The country setting is beautiful as well as quiet. We travel with a pet and are always pleased with the kind and generous treatment we receive.
We've stayed here on two separate occasions. Both times it was clean and quiet and the breakfast has enough choices so that almost anyone could find something that works for them. It's a good stop over on a road trip. We had dinner at the Eel River Brewing Co. It was nice to be able to walk after a day of driving.
We love this facility and stay here at least once per year. The staff is super friendly and professional. The hotel exterior is very clean and the rooms very clean as well. Ample parking. The experience we have is always positive and we always look forward to our next visit. And get this...free HOMEMADE cookies in the office - delicious!
This BW in Fortuna, CA. Is one of the Best BW. The Staff are excellent in Customer Service, and are the very kind, and in al,l the Staff will go out of there way to make sure you are comfortable. When I stay at a Hotel, this is what I look for, Decent Clean Staff Quality of Rooms 5 Star. But Best Western in Fortuna deserves a 10 Star
This hotel is walking distance to Eel River brewing company which is a huge bonus. We have motorcycled all over the western United States and we normally only stay at Best Westerns. I can truthfully say that this Hotel is one best Best Westerns.
We stayed at this hotel for a friend's wedding. They had a block of rooms for out of town guests and family. The room was great. Very clean and spacious. The complimentary breakfast offered plenty of variety for everyone. The indoor pool was a great place for the kids to have fun, even in rainy weather!
Fortuna is located south of Eureka and near Ferndale, both fun areas to visit. A bit off the noisy highway, this Best Western is an ideal place to stay. A great breakfast gives one a wide choice of items and the rooms are comfortable with good beds. The grounds are very pleasant and bird feeders attract a number of colorful species of birds including Chestnut-backed Chickadee and White-crowned Sparrow.
Clean hotel. Nice Breakfast. Always enjoy staying here when traveling for work or for fun. The breakfast is simple but more than just a waffle. Usually eggs, meat, potatoes, or other option, waffles, bagels, pastries, yogurt, cereal, etc... They have something for everyone.
Pros - Housekeeping fantastic. Breakfast great with good variety - eggs and breakfast meats, carbs and fruit. Friendly and attentive front desk staff. Cons - Thin walls, easy to hear neighbors next to you speaking either on phones or with each other. This hotel is a hub for many utility, tradespersons, and craftpersons that drive big trucks and get up at the crack of dawn. It seems to be a customary practice for many of these companies to back up loud trucks as close to their room as possible. The result is usually an unwelcome wake up call as you will hear and feel the vibration from these trucks as the employees warm up their vehicles and go to breakfast. My only other complaint would be the location. To get to Fortuna proper, you have to pass through a confusing on/off ramp system that is extremely dark and poorly marked especially at night. I have been traveling forever and I was particularly vexed by the confusing layout of this CA system. This is not the hotel's fault. I recommend earplugs for the early morning bathroom break when things are quiet before the early morning storm!
The room was large with very comfy king size bed, Microwave, fridge and coffee machine. Biscuits and newspaper always provided. Towels were plentiful fluffy and large. In the reception was also free coffee and biscuits and fruit. Breakfast was the best we've had in Californian hotels. Rooms cleaned well and all staff very friendly. There was a guest laundry, heated swimming pool. We stayed there 5 nights and really enjoyed our stay. Hotel is a good centre for visiting redwoods "avenue of the Giants" and the beautiful coast at Eurika and Trinidad CA . Don't miss the lagoons and Patrick's Point.
So pleased that this place is pet friendly!! The weather had turned on us and we had to pull up the tent! The rooms were clean, I thought pet friendly there would be some smells, but nothing, very clean. Staff was accommodating.
We stayed here while attending a wedding in a neighboring town. The reception was just across from the hotel so it was a handy location for us. Everything was just what we would expect from a Best Western. Clean and comfortable. Breakfast was nice as well.
Very nice and comfortable. The hotel staff were very friendly and the breakfast had a variety of items to choose from. Best Western is the only hotel we stay at and we have never been disappointed in our stays there.
If your looking to stay in a larger city around Fortuna, don't bother. Check this hotel out. I was skeptical the first time I booked but once I checked in I was not disappointed. This hotel books up fast so don't wait if your visiting the general area. I've stayed twice with in a year visiting family and each time I've stayed I have been very pleased. Its not fancy. Its very comfortable, clean, affordable and quite. The location of the hotel is easy to get to.
I travel all over. Best Westerns are one that I stay a great deal at. This property is one that I will return to. Last time it had a very good breakfast. Fortuna is the land of the C crain radio company. Not all that far from the ocean. Life is good when you can just live it.
Excellence in all I highly recommend this hotel for all your travels if in the area. They go out of there way to make you comfortable. Very pleasant at check in. I have stayed in this hotel often. I will conintue for business and family time
Great Inn with the best hotel breakfast of any we have ever used. Outstanding beds, and great staff. We always stay at the Best Western Country Inn during our trips to Carmel Valley, California. There are always cookies and coffee in the lobby as well as fresh fruit. The rooms always have a nice selection of snacks (usually oreos) in them upon arrival. We love this Inn.
breakfast and treats in the room.. lobby always has coffee/tea/cocoa. makes it really convenient and homey. location is pretty decent for Humboldt county.. not too far away from the redwoods and definitely nice to be out of eureka. they have a pool and hot tub.. but it gets pretty busy. overall the staff is pleasant enough, the rooms are sanitary, and it is a good value stay.
Everything was ready, organized and they delivered on their promises. Enough parking, near gas station, keyless entry. Linen clean. Vending machies close by, breakfast room small but well displayed and arranged.
We came to Fortuna for one night to attend a funeral nearby. My friend had stayed at this place before and recommended it. Very nicely appointed room. The beds were comfortable. The bathroom clean. A hot breakfast the next day was included.in the price. The motel is near a brew pub, restaurants and a casino. A nice river walk is across the road. It's very well situated, not far from the downtown. This motel chain has been around for a long time. Many have been remodeled and updated like this one. You never know what to expect. Our expectations were met and then some.
I always stay at the Best Western in Fortuna the rooms are nice and it is close to the Redwoods, ocean and many other beautiful places to see and walk too. Great places to eat within walking distances.
Good location for our planned event, nicely appointed room, very helpful staff, clean and appealing property, recommend this property to anyone passing through or recreating or doing business in the area.
It's always a gamble when you book a hotel but we could not have picked better than the Best Western Country Inn for a two-night stay in Fortuna. The room was exceptionally clean, and the staff was very friendly. I'd even put a plug in for the Funky Monkey restaurant next door--pizza good and all you can eat organic salad bar was a steal for the price.
This place was great! Everything about it exceeded our expectations. It was clean, pleasant and very well run. It was by far the best place we stayed during a driving trip that spanned 18 days and 5000 miles. We would love to go back.
This is not the first time I have stayed at this hotel. My husband and I stayed at this same hotel back in 2000. There have been updates to the rooms which were nice before and are nice now. Beds are always very comfortable. I like it that this hotel chain has across the board standards so I can expect similar stays. My daughter and I stayed this time and it was just as memorable than the first. Thank you
Nothing fancy but clean and comfortable with all the amenities you could want. A complimentary breakfast is served in the lobby building. There is a small souvenir area in the lobby with reasonably priced items from the area. The hotel staff recommended a brewery/bar restaurant just down the street...very convenient with good food and service.
The Hote; Staff is excellent in Customer Service. I highly recommend this hotel. Very Clean. The pool is delightful and is so clean as well as the hot tub. They all, make you feel so comfortable. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
This is the place to stay in the Ferndale/Eureka /Fortuna area. Not overpriced, very very clean, smiling helpful staff, delicious hot breakfast and peace and quiet. Location is handy too. The facilities are well maintained and having outside entrances to the rooms was fine. Normally we don't like outside entrances but this felt safe.
This hotel is in a great location for exploring the surrounding area. It is very clean, hats off to the cleaning staff. The desk staff were always friendly and helpful, plus nice to have cookies and fruit in the lobby. A welcome treat after driving all day. It was quiet too. Oh and the breakfast choices are huge. Two waffle machines, fresh bagels, croissants, raisin bread, eggs, bacon, yogurt and cold cereal. Nobody leaves hungry. We were very happy with our stay and would recommend this hotel to others.
this is a very nice hotel. Big rooms. We had our dog with us. Girl at the front desk brought out badly if dog treats and asked if I wanted any. Then she offered coffee, fruit, cookies and candy. The grounds are kept well and staff are friendly. The breakfast was good. Lots of choices.
This hotel is right off the highway, but far enough away not to be too noisy. The staff were helpful, my room was very clean and comfortable, and the free breakfast was ample. I was able to walk to a great little brew pub with wonderful food, and to the nearby conference venue where I was speaking. Close to a lovely river walk too.
My husband and I came to Fortuna on a business trip for 8 nights. We stayed in a room with a Jacuzzi. It was very relaxing after a long day. We had to extend our stay and the office staff was very helpful. They were able to keep us in the same room. I spent a lot of time in the room and it was very comfortable. The cleaning and maintenance staff were all very friendly and helpful. We were allowed to have our dog in the room for a one time fee. I enjoyed having him with me. There is a riverwalk close by that we walked every day. They also have a delicious breakfast. Eggs, waffles, bacon, sweet breads and more! I would recommend this hotel to everyone visiting the area.
On our road trip from Seattle, Washington to San Francisco, California, we stayed in mostly Best Westerns along the way. This was a good choice and we were happy with our selection. We would stay again if we were in the area.
We stayed for one night in Fortuna as we were exploring northern California and the redwood forests. It's a fairly typical Best Western motel. Check-in was smooth. The room was a good size and there were plenty of towels and toiletries. We had a king bed which was comfortable. Breakfast is included and they do a nice job. They had eggs, waffles, breakfast meats, and all kinds of breads and muffins plus coffee and juices. The area was clean and everything was good to start the day. The hotel is close to a number of sites including the redwoods, so it was very conveniently located. For a quick stay or even a longer stay, this hotel will do the trick.
comfortable. nice. relaxing. pool and hot tubs the best enjoyable quiet roomy showers are great meals in morning fine. and found one with evening wine and cheese. very nice plus... will stay again heading back from ca to east coast via caar
Why do AMERICAN hotels let people sleep with animals in their hotel rooms? Not just dogs, but all sorts of animals , from miniature horses, geese, ducks, potbellied pigs, cattle and other ruminants to lizards. They all get to sleep in a room if their owners call them "Service Animals" Even ducks. A service duck. Who even heard of such a thing? What type of 'Service" can a duck perform? Ridiculous yet all these animals are allowed to sleep in hotel rooms.
Very nice BW with little extras. No elevator, so get a room on first floor if you don't want to lug stuff up the steps. Nice big room with a separate sink area. Great beds, shower and air conditioning. Breakfast was great! Selection of fruit, plus the usual items. The plus were some homemade goodies at breakfast. I like that they have a dispenser in shower with shampoo, conditioner and show gel.
We booked online through the motels website and got a cheaper rate than when I called the hotel directly. Be aware they will charge your credit card an additional $20 incidental fee when you check in, which I am still waiting to have removed. Breakfast was excellent- biscuits & gravy, bacon, sausage, eggs, waffles, yogurt, bagels, too much to list. Staff was friendly. Room was clean and large with 2 queen beds. We were on the first floor and room was quiet. My biggest complaint is they advertise the motel as smoke free, but they allow guests to smoke on the property (on benches right outside the rooms, in parking lot, on stairs). To me, this is not smoke free when you have to smell and walk through the smoke- YUCK! Great location if you are planning a trip to the Redwoods. Easy on and off Hwy 101. Close to restaurants, gas stations, etc.
We had the last room in the corner in the back which was quiet and private. Room was nice typical hotel room. Comfortable and clean but nothing special. Several nie restaurants within walking distance. Staff were very cheerful and helpful. Price of room included full breakfast in their dining room. Quite nice.
Great place to stay between Praire Creek state forest & Humboldt Avenue of Giants. Reception very friendly and rooms big and clean if a little dark. A slight problem of hearing the neighbours but all was quiet by 10 pm. Eel River restaurant and bar within 10 min walk.
were on a motorcycle trip to the redwoods, used this place as a base for two nights. comfortable rooms and quiet at night away from traffic, is in a nice country setting close to eel river.. breakfast was good and staff were helpful and friendly. about 15 miles from avenue of the giants. would highly recommend this best western.
