It's taken a few years of travel to Paris to get used to the small spaces in typical wallet friendly (for Paris) hotels. Room 102 at this hotel greets you with the typical shock of how small it is. Having said that, the room was very clean and the bed comfortable. Shower had great water pressure and near instant, sustained hot water. My window view delighted me with Tour Eiffel (in the attached picture) along with a comfortable air conditioning unit for a warm day in July. Walid checked me in upon arrival with the most friendly smile and really helpful demeanor. He was quick to point out places to eat and drink, instantly making me feel at home. Breakfast was as expected with a minimalist continental style, but the woman attending the area was all smiles and quick to respond to any request. I really liked the cosy style. I would easily stay there again for it's convenient location and friendly staff.

The Best Western Rives de Paris La Defense was very conveniently located for my business trip in Courbevoie. It is nothing fancy, but the rooms were very clean and modern. The breakfast was nice, and the hotel staff was very helpful and friendly. I'll definitely stay here on my next trip!

"Just what was needed"

I visited the hotel to attend a friend's funeral. I was travelling with two other friends and we booked three rooms. I was looking for a reasonable hotel within reasonable reach of the funeral and subsequent cremation and the hotel matched both requirements admirably. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast excellent if a little pricey at €12. The elevator was tiny but it did the job required. Downsides were that parking on the street was a bit difficult to find and expensive and that the rooms and bathrooms were very small and rather overheated. Bedroom size is not really important when travelling alone but I'm not sure if I could have stood for sharing the room with a partner or staying more than one night it was that small. We ate at the local brasserie Niagara two minutes walk away which was stunningly good value at €15 for a brilliant two course meal. There's an Indian restaurant within 200metres of the hotel as well.

We stayed in this hotel for a few days. I am absolutely in love with this place. Receptionist and everyone is so nice and welcoming, clean and comfortable rooms, bed is super comfortable which is my priority everywhere! Breakfast delicious, location great and quiet, near to a perfect pub, chemist and supermarket and very close to center of Paris. We will be back soon.

"Good business stay hotel"

briangfield, Cheltenham, United Kingdom 02/02/2018

A one night stay at Rives di Paris before a business meeting. Set in a slightly difficult area to get to but close to the Seine. Surrounding streets a tad characterless. Service at the hotel was friendly and helpful, the room small but clean and functional. I liked the Paris photo on the wall. Wifi worked well. A reasonable breakfast selection in quite a basic dining area. Overall very adequate for a business trip but no holiday wow factor.

Dear Briangfield , The entire Best Western Rives de Paris staff team would like to join me in thanking you for your comment. We were very happy to read that your stay with us lived up to your expectations. We hope to have the pleasure of seeing you again soon. Kind regards, Natasha FLEURET

"Good for business trips"

User 30/09/2017

I stayed 2 nights in this hotel during my business trip. The hotel was clean and staff very helpful. The rooms were quite small but I was expecting that so it wasn't surprise for me. Breakfast was average but fullfilling. You have to prepare yourself for a little walk when going to restaurants and also the closest metro is 15-20 minutes walk away. In the morning there is a driver available at the hotel so that helped a lot when going to work to La Defense. All in all this is a good basic hotel in a calm neigbourhood and I would recommend it.

Definitely a step better than sleeping in an airport departure area or at the bus station, but if you just got out of prison this hotel may almost make you homesick. It's clean, quiet, and the breakfast was maybe average, but beware if you're claustrophobic, handicapped, old, want to visit Paris, or have problems walking a few blocks for meals. Like low cost hotels across Europe, they don't supply washcloths so take your own if you want one. There were two containers of mild detergent intended as shampoo and body wash, but both were empty, suggesting the cleaning lady was not using a checklist. Also be prepared for a very slippery shower without grab bars -- treacherous for people over 75 (as I am), and only share the elevator with nice people, because you're going to be close, very close.

NatashaFleuret, Responsable relations publiques at Best Western Rives de Paris La Defense, responded to this review
Dear Bison405, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. While I wish you had a better experience, it is feedback like this that we learn from and use to improve. We work hard to deliver an exceptional guest experience, and it's apparent in this case that we fell short. If you give us a chance to earn back your trust, I can assure you that we will do our best to give you the great hotel experience that so many of our guests have grown so fond of. Sincerely, Natasha FLEURET

I was a bit nervous about my 3 night stay here after reading some of the reviews but was not disappointed. It's a basic hotel however this is reflected by the 3 star rating it has. If you're expecting 5 star luxury then you will be disappointed. Rooms are on the small side but suited us just fine as we weren't spending much time in the room. Nearest metro is a 20 minute walk away and it's about a 15 minute journey into central Paris. A positive of being on the outskirts: cheaper meal prices. Overall a basic hotel but no issues at all. Would definitely stay again if visiting Paris.

Thank you again for sharing your experience, and we hope your next visit will be as pleasant as the previous one. Regards, Natasha FLEURET

"Not the best I assure you "

Glasgow0125, Glasgow, United Kingdom 19/07/2017

So we decided on a trip to paris for my fiancées 30th. After an 8 hour drive from Glasgow to dover at 7pm the Sunday, then 4 hours to Paris, we arrived the Monday morning at 11.30am. Having not slept for over 24 hours we were exhausted. We were told check in at 2pm however had prior emailed to request early check in. On arrival we couldn't get to our room until 2pm as the hotel was fully booked- even tho I had amended the dates easily the day before departure and plenty availability and having only seen a handful of people at best the full time we were there including breakfast. We asked to get access to toilets to get a wash and to the bathroom however it was huffs and puffs by the receptionist and eventually guided into a bathroom in the back of the hotel- not a best first impression. We then asked about parking and over the space of 2 nights yes we took the car out probably 4-5 times which was again an inconvenience to the receptionist. I then upon check out remembered the hotel had written down my bank card details for security - a mistake on my part but we were exhausted and just wanted into our bed for an hours sleep. I seemed to cause a huge inconvenience by asking the card details be destroyed before Ieft the hotel to check out as I wasn't keen on the idea of my bank card details left on a piece of paper at the reception of a hotel in Paris. All in all a pretty crap experience to be honest. Everything was a problem to them and staff weren't helpful. Would definitely not recommend or return. We are far from fussy at hotels, we usually stay in premier inns etc when in the U.K so nothing particularly special but this was a huge let down.- and this was only a few of the Problems we experienced!!

NatashaFleuret, Responsable relations publiques at Best Western Rives de Paris La Defense, responded to this review
Dear Glasgow0125, We are very sorry to hear that you have been much disappointed by your stay at Best Western Rives de Paris. It is the first time in our history that receive such a bad score on tripadvisor (1/5 for your comment). You mention that you had a painful 12 hour drive from Scotland before arriving (night drive), and I am afraid it influenced your view. The fact is that our 14:00 check in is part of our sales conditions, even if we always do our best to give a room for early birds, frequently as soon as midday or 13:00. June is busiest period of the year for us, and we can ensure you that the hotel just could not manage an early check in that day. Last and not least, we are engaged, like all other Best Western Hotels in Europe, in a security process for credit cards, so you can be comfortable with that point. All in all, we definitely apologize if your requests were not worked out willingly enough by our receptionnist as it is for us a top priority to have people feel as relaxed as at home. With our best regards, Natasha FLEURET

"An average hotel in Paris"

Hotel location is quite remote, need to take a bus to reach nearest metro of La Defense, rooms are quite small, i was leaving alone but was feeling squeezed inside room. very limited options available in breakfast. my room was having nice view of Eiffel tower, which i liked. there are many restaurants nearby, including 2 indians which give one nice dinner options.Staff at reception were very nice & helpful.

"Should be 3.5 stars - Small but friendly Hotel"

3
Martynjw, Henley-on-Thames, United Kingdom 17/03/2017

As per title its better than 'Average' but is not 'Very Good' . First impressions are good nice clean well decorated reception are with a very helpful friendly receptionist. First taste of whats to come is as you enter the Lift, its small! Then you get to your room, its very small, then you see teh bathroom, TINY!! Honestly the smallest bathroom I have ever seen in my life. Room and bathroom very clean, bed comfortable- about 30cms space all the way around the bed between it and the walls. I slept well. Breakfast is very average no fresh coffee - just a machine producing bitter processed muck. Very limited foods, bread, some pastries, a little fruit and some yogurts. Its in a strange location btw not downtown (€25 uber ride) and not Le Defense (€8 Uber) , so be aware if looking for either of these locations. In summary it is mall I dont think a couple would be very happy in one of teh rooms, but it is cheap <£80 on Expedia.

"Confortable and friendly. I like it too much"

Ifucantus, Barcelona, Spain 25/10/2016

Great hotel, style and location. Despite the rooms being quite small, which is anyway the norm in Paris, you get a comfortable bed and a bathroom with shower cabinet with a big shower head. Sometimes you had a bit of noise from the traffic in the main street but still not too much because windows are well isolated. It has air conditioning and heating in the rooms, so you can set the temperature yourself. And the rooms have no carpet floors, perfect !!, I really hate carpet floors. Breakfast is very good with fresh fruit and very good coffee. Extremely friendly and helpful staff, they are always for helping you . (10 point for them !!) Totally recommend it, very smartly done. Great value for money.

"Bad experience "

Kaseymcgarv, Barrie, Canada 30/08/2016

My boyfriend and I had stayed at this hotel for a week in June of 2016. One thing that really was not okay was the fact that our hotel room door did not lock, they gave us a room key but there was zero purpose for it because the doors never locked. We asked the manager why our hotel room door wouldn't lock and his answer was the maid needs to get in .. Another complaint is our hotel room and hallway going to our room was SO hot, we asked the manager how we could turn the AC on, and he said he controlled it and have we looked outside, yes it cloudy but it was still very hot and had said no to turning it on. Lastly, because we went to a soccer game and had to travel to another part of France we did not sleep for 24 hours so the next day we slept the whole day, we had put the do not disturb sign on the door and the maid came into our room three times and woke us up. So ridiculous. Would never recommend this hotel to anyone. Although one worker at the front desk was extremely nice and helpful but other than that bad experience.

Vincent R, Gérant at Best Western Rives de Paris La Defense, responded to this review
Dear Kaseymcgarv, Thank you for staying in our hotel and we are sorry about your mitigated impression on your stay. Indeed, we are a little bit surprised about the unlocked doors problem. Actually, all the doors have locks with electronic cards. When you go out of your room, you just have to slam the door so that it is automatically locked. When you are in, it is impossible from someone from outside to get in. You and our maid are the only ones who have the access to your room. We guarantee that our hotel is perfectly safe. We are sorry about the problem of air conditioner in your room during your stay. We called a technician to work this out. We are really sorry for this temporary inconvenience, even if air conditioning is actually rarely necessary in Paris due to very temperate weather conditions Thank you for understanding and we wish all the best to you. This was a very clean hotel. It was a bit away from downtown Paris but the price was very reasonable. Our luggage was lost by Condor Airlines and the staff worked around the clock until it was returned to us. They made sure our stay was satisfactory!

"Lovely short break"

Kloe_Kiss, Chatham, United Kingdom 10/07/2016

Lovely little budget hotel, everything is well kept and clean. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel is great too, beautiful view of the river and gardens, even Eiffle tower could be seen from our room. Speaking of the rooms, I have to say it was the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in while on holiday. The room was clean with plenty of storage and the bathroom was lovely. Only down side was the tea and coffee making facilities. Lots of shops, bakery's and restaurants close by, or Its about 30 minutes walk to La Défence (or you can catch a bus right outside the hotel) where you can find a big shopping mall and of course the metro. Finally the continental breakfast was very good, lots of choice. Overall I would recommend this hotel, and I would definitely stay here again!

"Bad lighting "

3
Dzbg111, Paris, France 09/07/2016

The hotel is well placed and the staff is friendly. However, the room I stayed at had a bad lighting. The only source of light I had was a night light. There were no light bulbs on the ceiling so keep in mind that if you go to this hotel, your room will stay dark during the night.

Vincent R, Gérant at BEST WESTERN Rives De Paris La Defense, responded to this review
Dear customer, We first thank you for your interest in our hotel. Indeed, my staff and I were glad to welcome you. Actually we are surprised about the bad lighting you mentioned in your comment. It was certainly a problem of bulbs because our hotel is directed and enlightened well. Indeed, we have polyvalent hotel receptionists who are there 24/7 and you should have led them know about that because they would have helped you with pleasure if you had mentioned the lights problem. Best regards, Vincent Rattez - General manager

"Good business Hotel in La Défense"

5
Ysa2006, Lyon, France 19/02/2016

It s not easy to find a reasonably priced Hotel in this neighborhood with good amenities. This one is perfectly located with just a bridge to cross to find very nice little french brasseries. The breakfast is very good as well and i will for sure be a regular guest in the future.

"Great little hotel"

5
anaisdemelo, Mexico City, Mexico 03/02/2016

The hotel is modest but well situated and offers a very good proce. The staff is adorable and helpful. I ususally like to stay in luxury hotels but this time all the hotels in Paris were booked due to the fashion week, so I stayed in this modest hotel and was very surprised with the result. I fully recommend it.

"Overall a nice place on a budget.."

3
Poligi, Jerusalem, Israel 21/10/2015

The room is really small, and the location is not central, but it's only 20-30 min walk to la defense, where you have the metro and the RER line, even to disneyland. the room is cleaned every day, but still we got a dirty pillow case on the first day (which was switched when we asked) and had only one towel in a room for two. There is always someone in the lobby and they are really nice. And the wi fi is not very good at all, so it's not good for people who need internet.

"Very very cramped in every way"

2
Dick T, Zug 13/10/2015

Visited recently on business, the hotel was booked by corporate travel agent, who will be getting feedback. The rooms are clean, the bed is VERY small but comfortable. The room in total is about 5 m by 4 mtrs, with about 80 cm space on average around the bed and desk to move in. There is no closet space at all, no stand for the luggage etc. The bathroom is very clean, but again TINY, with no shelf space and the lavatory is squeezed into a space that is curious in that one reverses in between the wall and the shower in order to sit on it. One's shoulders are actually touching on both sides when one is seated. It is simply misleading to state that this hotel has a bar, it doesn't, it has four chairs and a tray with some drinks on it. As is very common in Paris the elevator is a two person only affair very old and one may wait for up to 12 minutes for it to arrive without being full, and , at the busy periods it stops at every floor, further slowing progress Overall, whilst safe and clean, to be avoided.

"Basic budget hotel - clean, good staff"

3
PhilandSuzy, Cambridgeshire, United Kingdom 24/05/2015

Booked through Lastminute.com we stayed at this basic hotel, located just outside the business district of Paris. Staff were welcoming and friendly. Despite emailing in advance asking for room with view of Paris, we were given one without. It was clean, good size for the price, and had a decent bath and shower. Walls were thin, and couple next door were loud - not a great issue for us, but worth noting. It's 1 mile to the nearest Metro station (Pont De Levallous) - we knew this in advance and were happy to walk, but again, it's worth noting. You should be able to hail a taxi in the street if you have patience, but don't ask the hotel to order you one, as they turn up with 10 euros already showing on the meter. Hailed taxi to Eiffel Tower, for example, is 20 euros. If you do walk to the Metro, it's very quick into Central Paris. There is a taxi rank outside Pont De Levallous Metro if you need a taxi back to hotel. In quick summary, decent clean and cheap budget hotel, best for business travellers. That said, had to go down and ask for the rather unreliable wifi to be authorised, as it's not done automatially.

"Very nice hotel"

aleese, london 06/11/2013

Very friendly welcome Room size fine and large en suite Mini bar well stocked and not too pricey Perfect one nighter if you are in the area for business Not sure I would like to stay here for leisure as very quiet residential area and a bit far from the action

"Excellent in-room facilities but room decor a little tired"

4
NelliePhant, Hertfordshire, United Kingdom 06/07/2013

This is a small hotel (33 rooms) in a quiet residential area very near the Seine and lovely Parc de Becon. The welcome was warm and friendly. I was impressed by the facilities in the room - better than some 4/5 star hotels I've stayed at - there was a complimentary tray with small bottle of water; a kettle, tea & coffee & biscuits. There was also a fully stocked mini-bar and free "flip-flop style" slippers in the bathroom. The restaurant isn't open in the evenings but they can provide a "snack tray" for you to take to your room. I tried the four cheese pasta , it came with a yoghurt and 50cl bottle of water for €8. Considering it was a microwave meal the pasta actually tasted pretty good and was quite a generous portion. I didn't try the breakfast (€ 11) so can't comment. The only reasons I couldn't score as an excellent was the fact that the rooms need a little refurbishment ; the bathroom tiles around the base of the bath/floor were a little grubby ; the walls / paintwork needed refreshing and soundproofing.
