Best way to describe this hotel outside of a good front desk and location is it's horrendous. worn furniture, lacking phones, air conditioning doesn't work. Management, not responsive. if you want a good trip, do not stay
I'm not very fussy with my hotels, and think of myself as a very adaptable and flexible traveler. However, The Whitehall Hotel is a place that seems like it needs a bit of refreshing, when it comes to its rooms and amenities. This was one of those hotel rooms where hot shower water was sparse, a complaint I overheard from someone else at breakfast as well. I appreciated that it was a normal tub and not a tiny booth, but it's hard to enjoy when the water can't reach the temperature you want. The TV remote was so badly worn that the buttons had become barely responsive. The room was generally clean, but I was questioning the true cleanliness when I saw a single insect leg on the mattress. Don't worry, it wasn't the nightmare bug that would ruin a mattress, but still a bit gross. Breakfast was so minimal, I probably would have been happier if I just spent a bit of money outside the hotel, but time was limited. Here's a list of literally every breakfast option when I stayed: two types of sugary cereal, one type of yogurt that I didn't check, bananas, apples, whole wheat bread, cream cheese, peanut butter, coffee, milk, and orange juice. I sat next to someone who ate eight pieces of toast in one sitting, displeased the entire time about the lack of options. Sorry to call you out, half-loaf guy, it was just amusing. But the location was great, and the room wasn't overly pricey, not that it would be enough to bring me back here.
One of the worst experiences . Booked their to you suite. The thermostats did not work air-conditioning was at tornado force. No phone in the master bedroom ,worn furniture reached out to Managment regarding the thermostats house keeping said there they just said strong fans. Reached out to the general manager after our stay all he said sorry. would not recommend this hotel to anyone. three nights $1500. The only thing outstanding was the front desk people..
The iconic Whitehall Hotel has fallen apart. The location of this hotel is so convenient and always has been one of my favorites. If this property if considered one of BW's Premier Collection hotels, I would stay away from them.
Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback. We appreciate hearing from our guests and I am sorry to see you did not enjoy your stay. If you have any additional comments or suggestions on how we can improve our service, please reach out. I hope that we can better serve you on your next trip to the city. -The Whitehall Hotel Team
Location was good. Everything else, horrible. No where near value for money, sleeping on the streets outside has the potential to be just as good. Shower did not work properly, and had the water pressure of a leaky pipe. Shower was falling apart and required multiple unusual steps to use. When reception was called about this, the staff member that answered was passive aggressive, began yelling at me, despite my patience, and then hung up. Stains on the bed and on the towels, as well as the cupboard doors not closing. Marks all over the walls and some mould. When we arrived, our allocated room was already occupied, which was a major inconvenience. The breakfast cost them $10 maximum and consisted of 4 cereals and bread. This is no where near good enough for a 4 star hotel, as many 3 star hotels surpass this. DO NOT stay here.
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We sincerely apologize that your stay did not meet expectations. The issues you described with the shower, room condition, cleanliness, and especially being assigned an occupied room are certainly not the experience we want for our guests. We are also disappointed to hear about your interaction with our team, as we expect every guest to be treated with patience and professionalism. Your comments have been shared with our management and appropriate departments for review. We appreciate you bringing these concerns to our attention and regret that we were unable to provide the stay you expected. -The Whitehall Hotel Team
We chose this hotel based on location and it didn't disappoint. Perfect location for our needs and the staff was amazing. Bringing up ice, bottled water and a microwave within minutes of our request was 100% appreciated after a long hot day. Everyone was incredibly friendly and we would definitely stay here again.
Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback! We appreciate hearing from our guests and I am happy to see you enjoyed your stay! We look forward to serving you again on your next trip to the city! -The Whitehall Hotel Team
From the moment we walked into The Whitehall Hotel, our experience was elevated by an incredible team member named Cheryl. We arrived a little early, and instead of simply acknowledging us, Cheryl greeted us with the warmest, most genuine smile. That welcoming spirit immediately invited us over, and she graciously checked us in. Her kindness, patience, and professionalism made us feel valued from the very first moment. After getting settled into our room, we quickly realized it was extremely hot, and to our dismay, the air conditioning wasn't working. We went back downstairs to let Cheryl know, and without hesitation, she immediately began working to accommodate us with another room that had properly functioning air conditioning. Through it all, she never lost her smile. Her consistency, genuine care, and unwavering professionalism made what could have been a frustrating situation feel effortless. Cheryl is warm, nurturing, accommodating, and truly has the gift of hospitality. She brings so much life and positive energy to a hotel with more than 80 years of history. People like Cheryl are what guests remember long after their stay is over. As a manager of a luxury residential building in Hollywood, California, I understand how much exceptional customer service matters. The smallest gestures often make the biggest impact, and Cheryl exemplifies what outstanding hospitality should look like. Her kindness did not go unnoticed, and meeting her has already made our stay that much more memorable. Thank you, Cheryl, for reminding us that true hospitality isn't just about checking guests in—it's about making people feel seen, cared for, and genuinely welcome. Your consistency, grace, and beautiful spirit are a true asset to The Whitehall Hotel.
Thank you so much for your kind words! We're thrilled to hear that Cheryl made such a wonderful impression and helped turn a frustrating situation with the air conditioning into a positive experience. We'll be sure to share your recognition with her. We truly appreciate you choosing The Whitehall Hotel and hope to welcome you back again soon! -The Whitehall Hotel Team
Amazing location with great access to both CTA bus and rail. Historic hotel, but rooms are clean, well appointed and comfortable. We were there during a heat wave and the air conditioning did a great job of keeping the room cool. Breakfast spread is super convenient and has a surprising amount of variety. Staff was incredibly welcoming and went out of their way to give us a great stay. Great value for a hotel in any city (never mind the heart of Chicago!).
Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback! We appreciate hearing from our guests and I am happy to see you enjoyed your stay! We look forward to serving you again on your next trip to the city! -The Whitehall Hotel Team
The Whitehall is a classical great value just off the Magnificent Mile. You can see a history of past grandeur, especially in the breakfast dining room. It is a rare hotel in the area that offers free breakfast and no destination charges. The breakfast is not a slouch, with a huge buffet with many hot and cold items that change each day. The lobby, on the other hand, feels like a ticket window at a theater. There are just two "booths" with staff and things can get slow if there are a few people checking in at the same time. There are also only two elevators, so things can get slow if there are crowds. Luckily, there are also stairways that can use to go right up to your floor. We preferred using these most of our time there. The rooms are functional and have plenty of space. They have a mixed of modern and classic vibes with a few dated bits mixed in. It was a comfortable place to sleep and a great home base for exploring Chicago.

This is a well-located hotel with a friendly staff, affordable prices, and quiet rooms. There is an ample breakfast included, as well.

Location is excellent, but that's the only good thing about this. The bed is alright but the AC won't work. On a hot Chicago week, this was terrible.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. I'm very sorry to hear that your stay did not meet expectations, especially with the air conditioning issue and the discomfort it caused over an extended period. That is certainly not the experience we want for our guests, especially the lack of clear communication and follow-through from our team. Your comments are being taken seriously and will be shared with the appropriate teams so we can address these gaps and improve consistency in both service and room conditions. We hope you might consider giving us another opportunity in the future to provide a more seamless and comfortable stay. If there is anything more we can do for you, please reach out to the hotel and ask to speak with the Operations Manager. Thank you, -The Whitehall Hotel Team
The best thing about this stay was location and bed. I spent four days here and of that, 36 hours was without air and the room at almost 80 on the 11th floor. They do not complete housekeeping daily. The staff was disappointing as lacked communication and follow through. It was not worth the money when I could stay elseware for similar costs. Hotel is very outdated and less clean than I'm used to as I travel often.

I stayed here with my sister and daughter from March 28, 2026 to April 1, 2026. My sister booked this get away through Great Value Vacations. The hotel itself is okay. It does need some upgrades. Seems very outdated. But the main problem was that I left a necklace with a charm in my medicine case inside a small travel bag. It wasn't extremely valuable so I didn't think I needed to use the safe. The travel bag was on the counter where our clean towels were left. But the next morning my necklace was gone. I reported it to the front desk but they seemed unconcerned. It's the small chain with the A charm in the photo which was taken on the day we traveled to Chicago. I would never stay there again
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. I am very sorry to hear about the distress surrounding your missing necklace, and I understand how upsetting it can be to lose a personal item during your stay. Please know that we take concerns like this seriously, and I regret that your report did not leave you feeling supported in the moment. That is not the impression we want to give our guests. We have shared your feedback with our team so we can reinforce the importance of responding with care and urgency in these situations. I do want to assure you we took this complaint seriously and were unfortunately unable to locate your necklace. Please reach out to the hotel and ask to speak with the Operations Manager so we can discuss this in more detail should you desire. We appreciate your business and I do not want you to have the impression we would not act on a concern such as this. Thank you, -The Whitehall Hotel Team
Amazing! Everyone is so friendly. They have a wonderful breakfast buffet and coffee!!
Thank you so much! We appreciate your feedback and I thank you for taking the time to let us know about your experience! We hope we can serve you again on your next trip to the city! -The Whitehall Hotel Team
Life safety issue: our two rooms had an outer door in a small corridor that led to them. Our keys did not open this door to get to our rooms. We were told to leave this outer door propped open. When I asked what happens if the door closes and there is an emergency? They said "We'll just break down the door" Guaranteed us adjoining rooms. Rooms did not adjoin. I called twice and verified that they would be adjoining. They were not. Breakfast buffet kept running out of food and the lady running it told me she didn't know if or when they would bring more food. Happened every day. Our air conditioner/heater broke. It was uncomfortable in our room the first 2 nights. The last day we asked about it again and they finally sent maintenance up to our room. Maintenance was in our room for an hour making the repair. Bathroom fixtures were in disrepair.
Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback. We appreciate hearing from our guests and I am sorry to see you did not enjoy your stay due to these issues. I assure you, we will address these concerns to prevent issues like this from occurring again. I also want to let you know I'm not sure who you spoke with, but the doors leading to the halls are absolutely openable with staff keys. Your guest keys do not unlock that as they are for adjoining rooms where guest may or may not want to shut their lead in door. If you have any additional comments or suggestions on how we can improve our service, please reach out. I hope that we can better serve you on your next trip to the city. -The Whitehall Hotel Team
The Whitehall is a hidden gem in the crown of Gold Coast Hotels! This is continually, and I have been staying here for over 30 years. The hotel reminds me of the hotels in Switzerland, with old world charm, historic fixtures, and yes, even the small elevators! I love this place. Is it old? Yes! Could it be updated? Perhaps... but if you like the feeling of an older hotel, one steeped in history, this hotel is for you. It was once upon a time, at the top of the tier... there was once a private dining club, where Vincent Price and Ray Croc used to dine, and you will dine there too, if you have breakfast in the paneled room to the right of the breakfast buffet. As old as the hotel is, could it be haunted? Who knows... the atmosphere is correct, for such happenings, but try something while you stay here. Have the breakfast buffet and catch the eye of the young girl in the painting above the serving table. Once you do, no matter where you stand in the room, she will be looking at you... From comfortable rooms to an attendant staff, by the way, a very special hello, and thank you to Cheryl! My favorite front desk clerk in ALL of Chicago!!! She is always so kind, welcoming, and a true treasure! She makes the hotel for me, and has for several years! I highly recommend The Whitehall! Clean rooms, and great value, and walking distance to some of the best shops and restaurants in the city. Thank you everyone, for a truly wonderful stay!
Thank you for such a wonderful and thoughtful review! We're truly honored to have been part of your stays for over 30 years. Your appreciation for our history, charm, and atmosphere means a great deal to us. We'll be sure to share your kind words with Cheryl—she really is a treasure. We look forward to welcoming you back to The Whitehall again very soon! The Whitehall Hotel Team
Not a bad location everything was closed by even walking they also included breakfast which was not bad at all. Would recommend.

We have just returned home from a 6 night stay at the Whitehall and we are glad to be home. On the first day, we closed the bathroom door from the outside and could not reopen it. A hotel employee was sent to investigate and all he did was force the door open, he recommended that we didn't close it until someone came back to fix the issue, no one ever did. We struggled to get a good nights sleep during our stay, there is a service yard in close proximity to the side of the hotel we stayed on, each morning around 6:30am we were woken to the sound of bin men collecting trash, we didn't appreciate being disturbed this early when on holiday. One morning after being disturbed, we then slept through our alarm and missed house keeping, when we asked at the front desk if someone could service our room we were told no by a rude member of staff. During our stay the room was cleaned once which we found unacceptable.
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are very sorry that your stay did not meet expectations. We apologize for the bathroom door issue and for the lack of proper follow-up, this should have been resolved promptly. We also understand how disruptive the early-morning noise was and regret the impact it had on your rest. Regarding housekeeping, we're sorry that your request for service was not handled courteously. Even with our every-other-day cleaning schedule, our team should have responded more helpfully and offered options. Your comments have been shared with our management team so we can address these lapses and improve our service. We appreciate you bringing these concerns to our attention and regret that your experience fell short of what we aim to provide. -The Whitehall Hotel Team
The building from Michigan Avenue is an undersized jewel for an hotel. The innards: worn, outmoded, like a junior cousin of the Drake. Rooms retain an elemental class, breakfast room crowded. Everything squeezed but a less procey choice in an overpriced district. An oasis among the vultures.
Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback! We appreciate hearing from our guests and I am happy to see you enjoyed your stay! We look forward to serving you again on your next trip to the city! -The Whitehall Hotel Team
This is an independent boutique hotel in the heart of downtown Chicago. Very close to Water Tower and the Mag Mile. The hotel is cosy, the room was comfortable. The hotel had good service.

My friends and I traveled to Chicago for a work trip and decided to make it a girls weekend once the conference was over. The Whitehall was the perfect location for our 3 day weekend. This hotel is close to great shopping and dining. The front desk agent Tucker was amazing and made our stay even better. I would highly recommend the Whitehall hotel!
Thank you so much for sharing your experience! We're thrilled to hear that you and your friends enjoyed your girls' weekend with us after the conference. It's wonderful that our location and nearby dining and shopping added to your trip, and we'll be sure to share your kind words with Tucker — he'll be delighted to know he made your stay even better. We truly appreciate your recommendation and hope to welcome you back to The Whitehall on your next visit to Chicago! -The Whitehall Hotel Team
We had a great stay at the Whitehall Hotel. It was less than a 10 minute walk from the Red Line. The area was great within walking distance of many Chicago attractions. The breakfast was good. The value of the hotel was great.

Very good hotel with an exceptional location, and a good value. Walking distance to a great many dining options and shopping.

The Whitehall Hotel has a fantastic location — just steps from North Michigan Avenue, the Viagra Triangle, and convenient transportation options (the Red Line, Clark 22, and Broadway 36). We stayed in a junior suite, and the bed was incredibly comfortable — one of the best hotel beds I've slept in. However, the room could use some updates. The furniture was torn in spots, the electrical outlets were outdated (there wasn't one near the nightstand), and the bathroom still had an old heat lamp. A full-length mirror and a magnifying mirror in the bathroom would also be nice additions. Breakfast was standard, but overall, the location and comfort made our stay enjoyable.
Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback! We appreciate hearing from our guests and I am happy to see you enjoyed your stay! We look forward to serving you again on your next trip to the city! -The Whitehall Hotel Team
This room on the 17th floor has a spectacular view looking east towards Michigan Avenue including the John Hancock building, Water Tower and 900 N Michigan Avenue. Room is spacious and immaculate. AC perfect even though it was 80 degrees yesterday. Gym has a nice selection of cardio, free weights and machines, above average for the typical urban hotel. Check in was easy with friendly service at the front desk.

First the good stuff - The hotel is in a great location and a good price. Upon entry into the room we found that the light switches adjacent to the entry were not connected to anything. Had to enter the dark room to find a lamp and switch it on manually. The WiFi was useless. I could rarely make a connection and, when I could it would soon disconnect. Was unable to conduct any significant business or communication. Toilet design or water presure was inadequate to clear waste on the first , or often second attempt. Plus the toilet is located in the middle of the bathroom (what . . .?).
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We're glad you enjoyed our location and value, but I'm sorry for the issues you experienced with the lighting, WiFi, and bathroom setup. Your comments have been shared with our team for improvement, and we hope to provide you with a more comfortable stay next time. -The Whitehall Hotel Team
The breakfast was horrible. A big pan of luke- warm, totally undercooked bacon, room temp pancakes, soggy potatoes. The room was nice but outlets didn't work, and the AC was lousy.
Thank you for your feedback. While I'm glad you found the room nice, I'm very sorry for the disappointing experience with breakfast, as well as the issues with the outlets and AC. We'll be addressing these concerns with our team right away, and we appreciate you bringing them to our attention. -The Whitehall Hotel Team
I was looking for a hotel to stay near my friend for one night. I found this place to be affordable and beautiful. The hotel staff was fantastic and the breakfast was top notch. I stayed on the 8th floor and it was really quiet which was wonderful after my busy day. I would definitely stay here again!

Great hotel! Great location and the sweetest staff! Cheryl was an absolute joy and helped me get checked into a room early when I really needed it! Wonderful women. Recommend this hotel to anyone!
Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We're delighted to hear you enjoyed your stay, our central location, and most especially the service from our team. Cheryl will be thrilled to know she made such a positive difference for you – we're lucky to have her on our team. We truly appreciate your recommendation and look forward to welcoming you back to The Whitehall Hotel on your next visit to Chicago. -The Whitehall Hotel Team
I stayed at the Whitehall Hotel during a recent business trip. The room was acceptable, but it felt a bit worn and in need of some updates. For example, the shower didn't work properly. The reception staff were polite, though not especially welcoming, and I had expected a slightly higher level of service. The biggest disappointment was the breakfast – the selection was poor and mostly unhealthy options. The hotel was in a very central part of chicago which was a pluss. Overall, the stay was fine, but the hotel did not fully meet my expectations.
Thank you for sharing your recent experience at The Whitehall Hotel. We truly appreciate your feedback, as it helps us identify areas where we can improve. I'm sorry to hear that aspects of your stay did not meet your expectations. Your comments regarding the room condition, shower, and breakfast selection are noted, and I will share them with our team so we can address these concerns. We also regret that our reception service did not feel as welcoming as it should have – we strive to create a warm and attentive atmosphere for all our guests. On a positive note, I'm glad you found our location convenient for your visit to Chicago. We value your input and hope to have the opportunity to provide you with a more enjoyable stay in the future. -The Whitehall Hotel Team

Just got home from a 6 day stay at the Whitehall. The hotel itself is located in a great spot. Walking distance to all the attractions! Across the street from the 360 Building! It is dated but also historical so that is understandable. Hotel is clean, rooms are comfortable. Staff are very attentive and service was excellent! The shower needs some improvement, we were on the 15th floor so that may have played into the very low water pressure. The breakfast was decent. The Kirei restaurant at the hotel is Asian, Sushi, the pizza excellent. Want to give a special recognition shout out to Miss Cheryl and Hassan at the front desk! They were both exceptional, helpful, went out of their way to make us feel comfortable, helped with attractions to see, where to go and eat!! They were both awesome staff…all the staff from room attendants to the restaurant staff were pleasant, nice, personable. Definitely would stay again! Thanks for a great week and vacation! Really lovely hotel, spacious room, great location and friendly staff. We arrived at the hotel earlier than check in but after an 8 hour flight our room was ready to go which was great. The kids loved the breakfast included in the morning. There was something gif everyone and the coffee/tea was lovely.

Today I had a genuinely pleasant experience checking into this hotel. Cheryl was our support for checking in and she was an absolute delight. She was so kind, went above to take a look at our vehicle to see what's the best parking option for us, and was truly so funny, very personable, and wildly kind. It was such a quick experience, she handled guests that were coming and going with a warm hello and clearly helpful mindset. She was so wonderful and this hotel overall is a great location, very comfortable stay, and overall great experience.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us! We're thrilled to hear that Cheryl made such a positive impression during your check-in and went the extra mile to make your arrival smooth and welcoming. We're lucky to have her on our team, and I'll be sure to share your kind words with her. It's wonderful to know you enjoyed the comfort of the hotel and our convenient location as well. We look forward to welcoming you back for another great stay! -The Whitehall Hotel Team
At most this hotel is adequate for your basic needs. Great location, clean and modern little fitness centre. And that's it as far as good goes. Areas for improvement include a very basic and chaotic breakfast service. It is very limited in terms of choice, it is crowded with queues. It has one domestic toaster for an entire hotel. The quickest way to resolve this would be to extend the breakfast hours past 9.30am. And buy another toaster. Rooms are very dated. The floor lamp, bedside lamp and makeup mirror did not work. The only lighting was from the desk lamp so it was very dark and gloomy. AC worked really well. The staff were passive rude as well, in that whilst they were polite they made it clear they had no intention of resolving your issue. It was always someone else's responsibility. In my humble opinion it is in need of some fresh ideas.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are pleased to hear you enjoyed our central location and found our fitness centre to be clean and modern. We are, however, sorry to learn that several aspects of your stay fell short of expectations. Your comments regarding the breakfast service, room condition, and guest service have been noted and shared with our management team for review. We understand how these issues impacted your experience, and we will be looking into ways to improve both the variety and efficiency of breakfast, address room lighting and maintenance concerns, and ensure our team is empowered to resolve guest needs promptly. We appreciate your candid feedback, as it helps us identify areas where we can enhance the guest experience. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future and provide you with a much-improved stay. -The Whitehall Hotel Team
The hotel was clean and inviting, and the staff was friendly and attentive. Cheryl at the front desk was AWESOME. She was warm and welcoming in every interaction and quickly helped us resolve our request. Cheryl is a valuable asset to Whitehall!

Beware small elevators, even though they are fast. Consider your loved ones who might not appreciate elevators that can only accommodate four people max, and with luggage: two people. The floors are the higher part of the building; again, if someone is sensitive to height - avoid this hotel.
Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback. We appreciate hearing from our guests and I am sorry to see you did not fully enjoy your stay. If you have any additional comments or suggestions, please reach out. We hope to serve you again on your next trip to the city! -The Whitehall Hotel Team
We stayed at the Whitehall for 3 nights. Great staff, quiet room, comfortable bed. Felicia especially helpful. A few minor maintenance issues - but expected with such an old building. Love BW for free, enjoyable breakfasts. Location was perfect -- saved lots of Uber $ by walking to Pier, Beach & River Walk (all approx 1 mile I believe). Hancock, Harry Potter Store/ Magnificent Mile and Rush Street are very close walks. L stop is also close - used it to return from Wrigley Field. Fav walkable restaurants were Pizzeria Due and Doc Bs. BW Rewards program is good - and we will stay here again.

Excellent hotel for quality, value and location. Refurbished older building with very nice large room. Breakfast included and was good. Location of the hotel is very good being right in the middle of everything and close to the lake. Parking was reasonable and right across the street valet. Highly recommend this hotel for the price also.

Nice location, quiet street, better than basic amenities. But the hot water was very slow (12 minutes) for shower and the faucet was initially functioning poorly and had to be replaced. It was a rough first night but staff were not responsive to requests for credit since I didn't want to change rooms when I discovered this at 10 pm and had unpacked, nor stay up even later to get it fixed.

Good location but dirty and old I was embarrassed I had my mom stay there.. There really is no lobby it's just kind of a small room with a window where the front desk people check you in. The staff was friendly.

From the moment we walked in, Cheryl at the front desk made our trip super special. Always greeted us when we came through the lobby and remembered details about our trip plans. Truly felt like a boutique hotel experience.

this is the most outdated iconic hotel in the city of Chicago. The rooms are filthy, outdated and things didn't work. We had a toilet in the middle - yes, the middle of our bathroom. Everything couldn't have been worse. the lighting, bathroom, carpet, even the makeup mirror didn't work. worse $500.00 I spent for a 2 night stay.

From the moment I arrived at The Whitehall Hotel, Cheryl at the front desk made me feel genuinely welcome. Her warm demeanor, professionalism, and attention to detail truly set the tone for an outstanding stay. She went above and beyond to ensure that everything was seamless—from check-in to providing helpful recommendations about the area. Cheryl is the definition of hospitality—friendly, efficient, and always with a smile. It's clear she takes pride in her work and cares deeply about guest experience. Thanks to her, my stay was not only comfortable but also memorable. The Whitehall is lucky to have her as part of the team. I'll definitely be back—and I hope Cheryl is there to greet me again

Stayed here while we were in Chicago. We were on the tenth floor. Shower was strange as you have to pull the handle out to get the thing to work properly. Beds were high off the floor although they were comfortable. When you check in you are told that there is cleaning in the rooms only if you ask for it. Breakfast was on the ground floor with a good selection of items although the coffee was served in beakers. I was also concerned about the number of people coming down for breakfast in their pyjamas. It could get quite busy too so sometimes you had to fid space out of the small restaurant area itself. However, it was only a 5 minute walk from Bloomingdales and after leaving the hotel, you turned right and then right again and you could walk right into the centre of the city. I appear to have left a jacket here with my sun glasses in. No contact from the hotel that they have them though. I only say this because the glasses were expensive.

Fantastic location! Close to everything on mag mile. Stayed here years ago when it was a boutique hotel. Now it's a Best Western. Checked in to a “superior” room, smaller than the pics with one chair, for a three night stay. AC not working, room stayed at 78 degrees. Informed the Felicia's at the front desk next morning (2 great ladies named Felicia)! After breakfast we were moved into a junior suite room, much better and functioning AC! Breakfast buffet is $30. First and foremost, no decaf coffee ( 120 million American with heart disease and afib and no decaf coffee). Lots of choice, but food needed warmers. Hubby liked the restaurant for evening meal. Special mention for Felicia Y, she facilitated our room move and valet parking issue. Staff were great. Internet is very slow

We tried the Whitehall cause our usual locations were unavailable. Very nice property, a National Historic Building. First, the staff is excellent, friendly and helpful. Second, breakfast, which is included, is good. Third, the price is significantly below that of other nearby hotels. Fourth, the location is great. Two complaints: the WiFi is bad. We used our hotspots almost the entire two day stay. The toilets are, delicately, interesting. Very low to the ground and, let's say, difficult to sit on for a man, due to the bowls water level.
