    Great and convenient location for visiting park and museums . I enjoyed its proximity to the trains as well as restaurants. I would recommend this to anyone traveling to this area. Elevators a little small but never failed.

    The hotel is very comfortable, near of the bus station, subway and market place. Even there are some malls not to far. You can park your car at the parking at the next street and the restaurant is good. I used the room during night, but during day is some noice because there is a building next to the hotel in construction .

    A 4 day stay in Chicago the hotel package was this place. On first impressions I was a bit suspicious but boy was I wrong. In a quiet neighbourhood and very close to Grants Park and Lake side Trail this place was perfect. Bed was really comfortable and the rooms tidy and cleaned everyday. The staff were great and helpful. What more can you ask for. If I every go back to Chicago I would def stay here. It's a little way out of the main downtown area but it's a tad cheaper and nearby are great eateries. Thanks for a great stay

    No hot water. Need I say more? There is no excuse for no hot water. No I shall fill 200 characters to meet minimum post. Thank god the check out lady was a peach. Still short of characters, should I mention no hot water again?

    The staff was so impressive that it saved this hotel from a negative rating (my room definitely could have been cleaner). From check-in to check-out the staff was friendly and extremely helpful: offered delivery coupons, provided excellent directions, brought toothpaste to my room within minutes. Very friendly and happy staff!

    I have stayed here many times and love this hotel. The hotel is walking distance to Shedd Aquarium, Adler Planetarium, and Field Museum, a little longer walk to Millennial Park, and a short ride to Navy Pier or upper Michigan Ave. The front desk staff have always been lovely and friendly. This visit Armena was at the front desk and she was fabulous! Have lots of suggestions to us and made arrival after a several hour drive fun and relaxing!

    positives: -cheap in comparison to all other hotels in the area -great location beside Grant Park and close to the magnificent mile - staff were wonderful and friendly (special mention to Amena who was always cheery) -tasteful and modern decór - Nice Views Negatives: -air con in the room was large and often noisy -room was a little dusty -could be more plugs in the room -noise from nearby building works Overall the positives outweighed the negatives and I would definitely stay here again.

    This was the fourth time I have stayed here and again was impressed by the staff, the quality of the room and the value for its location. Rooms are clean and if you request a room with a lake view on a higher floor, the view is just as nice as hotels in the area which would cost triple. Highly recommended.

    I stayed here for business and was very pleasantly surprised at the kindness and friendliness of all the staff from the front desk and housekeeping to the maintenance staff. The outside of the building doesn't represent the inside. It's clean with free internet and the bed was very comfortable. I will definitely stay here again.

    Stayed here 3 nights for a conference. I picked this hotel which was a bit further away from McCormick place but much more affordable. I got there around 11am, and they had my room ready right away, which was greatly appreciated after getting up early for my flight. The hotel had everything I needed, it was clean, room was spacious. No complaints. Desk service was great, the employees were useful in recommending nearby restaurants, means of transportation and storing my luggage on my last day. The location was great! Right in front of the park, safe neighborhood, close to everything I needed. I would definitely stay here again.

    Don't let the Best Western name fool you. This property with its excellent suite, its quiet atmosphere and friendly staff can compete with the best of the hotels out there. The suite I received was spacious for a small hotel, had a great view overlooking Michigan Avenue located by both bus and train. Staff was friendly and all of my questions were answered. The express checkout was very convenient and meant you didn't have to wait in line to check out and was on your way. WIFI was excellent, not spotty and they don't charge extra for their high speed internet like some hotels.

    Front Desk staff was amazing; Recommended attractions and restaurants. CTA was close by. Field Museum and Shedd Aquarium are across the street. Will definitely stay here again next time I'm in town. This was near Giordano's, Yoke, Trader Joe's & Potbelly's

    Great location, basic amenities. Excellent location by park. Views are great (ask for high floor facing Lake). No complimentary breakfast, but restaurant on site (food and service good). Sleep quality below average due to soft beds. Service, cleanliness excellent making it a good value stay.

    My group stayed at the Best Western Grant Park Hotel for about a week in February while in Chicago for work. Though among our 7 rooms there were a few concerns (a fridge that didn't work, wanting to switch to a room with a bathtub, etc.), the customer service was excellent and all issues were resolved immediately. In the case that our shower handle came loose, the mechanic came up right away to tighten it for us and it was fixed. The front desk staff was very kind, as well as great service from the breakfast and restaurant staff. Sales Manager Marites (who helped coordinate the arrangements) was very kind and even followed up with me during our stay. Icing on the cake: our departure flights were all cancelled, and the staff easily arranged an extra night of rooms for all of us. Friendly faces greeted us when we returned from the airport for another extra night. Hotel may not be in the best shape, but the people there are wonderful. Thank you!

    South Loop used to be risky. No longer. Good location at south end of Grant Park. Three blocks from CTA. Ease of access to Science museums and Lake tours; a little bit farther to Soldier Field. Room small but clean and comfortable (no refrigerator); good value for the money.The staff were spectacularly good: efficient, helpful, knowledgeable, and especially cheerful.

    Nice location, room was squeezed. Hotel staff are nice helpful. They don't have service lift separately, always travel with or interfere there duties..glass windows seems little unsafty esp with kids . Satisfied with stay overall. Allowed early check out by 12 noon and kept our luggage until our flight time in the evening after checked out.

    The hotel had a very friendly and clean atmosphere. They had a valet car service which was a great help as the car was always ready for us in the morning. The staff were friendly and courteous. The room was clean and a relaxing place to be after being on our feet all day.

    The rooms and bathrooms were clean, as were the halls. I had everything I needed in the room and the internet was pretty fast. It was cold out so the rooms were well heated but not stuffy. The entire staff on duty the weekend I was here were extremely friendly, helpful, and service was great!! Mei's Kitchen, their restaurant, is a great place to go for breakfast and coffee! I'd definitely come back here.

    We stayed on the 6th floor of the hotel. The window view was disappointing, not a big deal for a big city. Our room had some ceiling defects and the ceiling was falling down in the corner. Parking want included in the hotel fees. That was a bit of a downer. The location was great we were in walking distance of everything. However the hotel staff double booked our room and it was a scary experience for my children and I. We were woken up by strangers trying to get to their room. These things just made it an average stay, I may not return to this hotel based on the negatives.

    « Great location, awful night of sleep »

    If you're looking for a great night of sleep, look elsewhere. The beds at Best Western Grant Park felt like trash bags filled with debris. The bed my kids slept in did not have a center support beam and it bowed badly in the middle (staff chose not to repair it or relocate us). The room was also VERY crowded and our family of 4 struggled to move around in it. The TV also did not work, but that wasn't a real high priority for us, though. As for the good stuff, we picked the hotel for the location (close to museums, etc.) and that did not disappoint. All things considered, for $100 in Chicago, we probably got what we paid for.

    Friendly staff and nice, clean rooms. Being so close to the Field museum, aquarium, planetarium and train line worked out great, too. Made it quite easy to go to and from the airport. I'd definitely stay here again.

    The staff at this hotel will keep us coming back. Extremely friendly and warm. I felt like they would bend over backwards to make our stay happy. The location near the parks/museum campus is great. Our room had VERY VERY VERY noisy guests next to us from 11pm to 3am, so that was a bummer, not the hotel's fault, though (I didn't call the front desk to complain, so they wouldn't have known it was happening). The manager, Octovio, is WONDERFUL. We will come back.

    Our stay at the Best Western Grant Park Hotel was excellent. Very friendly, helpful staff. Checked-in at 10:30 am and was able to valet park and store luggage until a room opened up. Perfect location for visiting museums. Had breakfast in the restaurant once - very good and great coffee.

    I stayed here during a recent trip for a conference nearby. For downtown Chicago, the rate was very reasonable. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the staff was very helpful and friendly. One staff member was especially helpful when I had a problem with a taxi driver the last night of my stay by giving me tips on how to file a complaint about the driver. The only issue I had was that the hot water in the shower was somewhat unpredictable (switched from very hot to lukewarm or cold). I reported this to the front desk, and they checked into the problem right away.

    We stayed with a group of 47 high school students and adults on a weekend Choir trip to Chicago. The hotel property is very nice. Rooms were good sized and had comfortable beds. The entire hotel seemed updated and has been kept very clean. The staff was helpful and friendly throughout our stay. Breakfast in the attached Mei's Kitchen restaurant was delicious and they handled our large group in an hour. I would highly recommend this Best Western as a great place to stay if your in Chicago.

    « Fantastic location! In need of some repair... »

    We came to Chicago to go sightseeing with our kids--ages 11, 9, and 8. We were right across the street from Grant Park, an easy 10 minute walk to the Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium, and Adler Planetarium. There was a stop for Big Bus hop on, hop off tours just a couple blocks away (both the trolley and the city bus right there also). We had no problem getting a taxi with the help of the front desk. There was street noise--not bad on the 8th floor. We had a view of Lake Michigan and Navy Pier. The Yolk restaurant right next door was awesome! Trader Joe's was around the corner for some snacks for the room. The front desk gave us a coupon for a nearby restaurant, and we enjoyed having Chicago deep dish pizza delivered. The room itself was a good size, with 2 double beds and a pullout sofa. Beds were comfortable also. There was a fridge and microwave. The dead bolt did not work at all. It was going to need to be replaced totally. Too late to fix it when we reported it. Not sure why they didn't come back to fix it while we were there, though. There was a solid flip-switch door stop in place of a chain that did work. The heating unit near the sofa was loud and kicked on continuously the first night. Maintenance came in to look at it, and my husband decided to settle for unplugging it. We were fine with the other unit near the beds working. The tub/shower had a broken (stripped) faucet handle and broken stopper. Maintenance fixed the handle, but it was starting to go again by the time we checked out two days later. None of these issues were too terrible, but they did definitely indicate that the hotel needs some regular maintenance inspection/work. All staff we saw were friendly and helpful. We would come back and stay again!

    A big plus for this hotel is the location near many the center of downtown Chicago. Much of the attractions we visited we're within walking distance. I was surprised that the rooms were not more expensive given the location. The only downside was not having a fridge or microwave.

    Enjoyed great St. Pat's Day weekend staying 3 nights at the hotel. Very helpful staff. Clean rooms. Great price for location near Grant Park and the Loop. Not a lot of frills and amenities but not needed when almost everything is in walking distance.

    « Amazing service »

    We arrived here after a long international flight only to be meet by amazing customer service. We were staying here for a few nights over Halloween and had never experienced trick or treating and were learning all the customs of America as it can be quite different to Australia. The front desk staff were so helpful in anything that we needed, even answering general questions like how much we should tip at places and where we do and do not tip (Not something we do in Australia at all) The door man was always lovely holding the doors for us out in the freezing weather sometimes for longer periods as my young children would take their sweet time. He would always have a smile on his face and be so kind to my children. On Halloween the staff were excited to be our children's 1st trick or treaters ever. And every time we would come or go they would always offer more candy to my boys which made them light up. (The staff would ask 1st without the kids noticing and then act like they were 'sneaking' the candy without us adults knowing) It was so cute and such a awesome experience for my boys that they still remember. I catch them talking about the secret chocolate from time to time. Hotel was in a great location and clean and tidy. It was great value for money and we will stay again!

    They remodeled the place so it is clean and refreshed. The front desk people are still friendly. When I turned on the water to take a shower the hot water started quickly and was hot. Many places you run out of water, doesn't come on quickly, or is not hot; not a problem here. The room was very clean as I always take a Clorox wipe to clean to room since many places do a bad job cleaning. I wiped the remote, tables, counters, and other places in the room without my towel showing any dirt. I was very much impressed. The only 2 complaints I have are the pillows are WAY TO SOFT. Even having 2 or more pillows it was not enough. The second complaint I had was I could tell the bed was old as there was a definite indentation where everyone seems to sleep. If you went on either side of the indentation, it was not comfortable. I still will stay here as the other places I have stayed I always compare to how great this place was and still is.

    We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights in late February 2018 (Room 412). The hotel is very clean and nicely decorated. It is in a great location and has eateries, supermarket & some attractions nearby. A quick and easy uber ride can get you anywhere else in Chicago. Pro's - Very affordable - Clean - Comfortable beds - Friendly and helpful staff - Close to metro Cons - Heater needs updating. It heats the room no problem but even after turning it off to sleep, it would come on and blast out cold air every hour or so. It was also very loud and would wake me up - Walls are quite thin. Our neighbours were having conversations very early in the morning which would wake us up. Our friend, who stayed on the 8th floor in a corner room, also mentioned that she heard a lot of noise coming from neighbouring rooms and the hallway - No refridgerator in our room - Showers had very little water pressure I would stay in this hotel again as the price is great but I would be wearing earplugs at night. Tips: - Jewel-Osco supermarket around the corner - lots of great ready meal choices there - Best coffee found at Stans Donuts a block away - Try 'Eleven City Diner' for a great meal & atmosphere

    « Great for museums »

    If you want to do the Shedd Aquarium, the Field Museum and the Planetarium it is ideal. The Miracle Mile and Downtown not so much, although it is only a $12 cab ride away. Close to limited restaurants (try the 7th Street Deli) and a whole bunch of universities. The off season price cannot be beat and the elevated subway is not far. Great staff and a pretty,good room.

    « Great front desk service!! »

    We arrived in Chicago at 9AM. The hotel had previously offered us a place to hold our luggage until check in, which was very important to us. When we got there, the desk worker made sure that we had a room right then, though, even though check in was not until the afternoon. This we did not expect, and was a pleasant surprise. The room was small, but that was as expected. It was very clean, near CTA, and also near a Divvy bike stall, if you are interested in biking around! (We did)

    The hotel is in a great location. Easy to get around on foot and train. The rooms were clean, nice rooms. We have stayed here before and were very happy. Stayed at a more upscale hotel not far from Best Western and were so disappointed. Staff at the hotel is very friendly and helpful. Our son has moved to Chicago and this will be where we will stay when we visit.

    I got a great deal on a room here through Hotels.com, but it would have been a bargain at twice the price! The hotel is conveniently located, with many restaurants, parks, attractions & the ?L? within walking distance. The staff at the Best Western was great. Everyone from the housekeeper to the general manager was helpful, courteous & gave the impression that he or she truly enjoyed their jobs. Upon check in, I requested a room with a view of the lake if possible. Lisa at the front desk did not disappoint! My daughter & I had a gorgeous view & enjoyed watching the lights on the Ferris Wheel at Navy Pier in the evening. The hotel was clean & well maintained. The lobby was comfortable, with complimentary newspapers & tourist information. The staff at the front desk was very helpful, providing a map & excellent directions. My husband & I had been in Chicago the previous week & stayed at the Hyatt at three times the price. It was not as nice as the Best Western at Grant Park. This is definitely the place to stay in Chicago.

    « Very Good but no refrigerator »

    This is the second time I came to this hotel because it was reasonably priced and close to the CTA Red Line El subway to get to Moody for Founder's Week. The room is great but this year there was no refrigerator for my water beverages. I will ask next year if I can have a refrigerator to make my bottled beverages cold. No other complaints.

    2/2/18 great hotel, good location, comfortable beds, good staff. i would return. i dont know why you would pat more to stay somewhere else. the only thing is that they only have vending machines but there are tons of restaurants and a supermarket near by

    We stayed 3 nights 30/1/2017 to 1/2/2018 with my family and 2 friends family we enjoyed in total because close to many activities and clean and have a good valet service just we paid $50 daily and they offered a delicious breakfast free for each person every day because I have platinum member card with Best Western hotel group and that so nice from receptionist lady in the hotel . we will try repeat visit this hotel in summer if we have time or want visit Chicago again . our problem was the freezing weather out side(-1 F, -25 C) effect in our room in the hotel special in night we Feld cold because the heating not enough so we couldn't sleep well .

    This hotel is across from Grant Park walking distance to restaurants. Great location close to the Museum and Planetarium. Room was clean and bed was comfortable. Good value. The restaurant also serve a great breakfast. Will stay again

    I just wanted to say at my stay that night was one of my best hotel experiences ever. Christopher the night auditor was really helpful and informative he deserves a raise. The rooms were beautiful. The room I got was on the Michigan side in which added to the beautiful night I already had.

    « Couldn't have asked for better. »

    My sister and I came here for a long weekend and everything about this hotel worked for us. It is directly across from Grant Park, the Field museum, several restaurants, Trader Joes, and lots of public transportation. This Best Western doesn't serve breakfast (no big deal...We ate at 4 different breakfast places: Yolk, 11th Street Diner, Stan's Donuts, and Wildberry.) Our only negative is we could hear the conversation and very loud coughing of the person in the room next to us, so the walls are very thin. We were here 4 nights in room 804 and that room faces the city. Great view! From our room we could see the Willis tower, Grant Park, the ferris wheel at the Navy Pier, and the building downtown that is lit up with "Live the Dream" at night. We used Lyft or public transport so we didn't pay for parking. Staff was very friendly. They are constantly cleaning the lobby. This was our first time here and we came in search of cold weather and snow. The hotel was a great place to rest our heads each night or afternoon after exploring the city! We will be back!

    « Excellent Stay BW Grant Park »

    This hotel suited our needs perfectly for a weekend trip to the Field Museum in the dead of winter. The room was small and basic, but we didn't go to Chicago for the weekend to hang out in the room. It was clean, warm (we actually turned the air on in the room...and it was about -2 outside), comfortable beds. The coffee bar in the lobby was perfect in the morning. We walked to the Museum, there are multiple restaurants in walking distance (we chose Giordano's and Chicago Burger Bar--highly recommend both). Short, cheap Uber or Lyft to other parts of the city. If you are looking for luxury and amenities this probably isn't the place for you, but if you are just looking for a place to sleep after a day in the city, this is the best value in all of Chicago.

    Third stay at this hotel and once again the room was spotlessly clean, the bed very comfortable, room nicely decorated and staff helpful and friendly. You cannot fault this hotel for price or location. Will be staying again on my next trip to Chicago

    The location is perfect. Close access to metra and walking distance to museum campus. Easy walk to Roosevelt station if you need to get on the el. Very short drive to navy pier. The only real complaint is price for parking but what do you expect for downtown Chicago. Hotel staff was above and beyond friendly and accommodating. Not sure why any previous reviews state differently. The rooms are spacious. No fridge but you can pay for one which would be nice if it were included like most hotels. Will definitely stay here again in the future.

    Excellent location and very good service rendered by hotel staff. We stayed at a family room that accommodated 4 of us. Thank you to the Sales Manager Marites for making the arrangements for our 10 night stay. I also want to commend the service staff at breakfast who provided excellent service specially Tyson.

    Staff was rude and unfriendly. My fiancee and i asked the staff several times for places to visit and see and were told to google it instead. It was our time in chicago and didnt know the city. The one time they did give a place to go it was the wrong directions!

    The hotel was close to the places we wanted to visit and wasn't that bad. The only thing that would have made it better would to have had a fridge in our room for our lunches the next day and the cost for parking a little lower.

    Great Hotel...Excellent helpful staff....Not very far from Downtown hussle and bussle. Road was all tore up in front of hotel and steel plates over holes so the noise was over the top to sleep through but not fault of hotel. Will stay there again

    Great place to stay and staff are wonderful. If your going to a Chicago bears match I would recommend this hotel . Also the food and drinks are fantastic and staff . The internet is pretty good here !!

    I enjoyed my stay here at the best western hotel at grant park. My room was clean, the staff was great and we will stay here again! We stayed here last year as well and the hotel has improved alot since then, renovations have been done and the staff again was really friendly.

    I booked for the location and reasonable price (for Chicago loop). I had fairly low expectations after reading some reviews and from my experience in other BW properties. It is a super great location on the corner of Michigan Ave and Roosevelt, across from Grant Park. There's even a Trader Joe's just around the corner. Be prepared to pay over 50 bucks for parking if you drive. There's two good breakfast places just next door. and a really yummy pizza place "Lou Malrattis" two blocks away that delivers. The room (on 9th floor) was stuffy and warm, so we turned air conditioning on and ran it all night even though it was cold outside. The beds are comfy, plain functional & unpretentious but clean and well appointed.

    very poor cleanliness in this hotel and there is not too many amenities. location is okay but farther from downtown than the other Best Western on Ohio st. not a very high building and there is not much for a view. but staff was friendly and helpful at least. also, parking is $55/night but the Best Western on Ohio st has parking for $25/night and has a much better location and overall experience and cleanliness of the room.

    The staff at the hotel is awesome. They go above and beyond to make you have a great experience with them. The room was clean and I never had to open a door while entering or exiting the hotel. The valet crew always jumps before you and gets the door open. I would recommend this hotel to anyone that needs to stay in Chicago

    I have stayed here twice - once last year during renovation and again this year. It was a bit messy during the renovation, but this year everything was completed and so nice! Staff was friendly and efficient - from front desk to bell staff to Housekeeping. We asked for extra coffee and towels on the first day, and they were provided without asking every day thereafter. I was attending a conference at a nearby luxury hotel and chose this less expensive option - and I had more room and amenities for 40% less cost. Convenient to the museums and to yummy restaurants - Yolk, 11 Diner, Lou Malnati's, as well as to Trader Joe's, Jewel Osco and Starbucks. I've already made reservations for next year's business trip.

    I was very happy with this hotel and would stay here again. I ended up in a king bed room. I had booked a queen room for 4 nights then later added another night when all they had were king rooms. When I checked in I asked if I could stay in that room all week instead of packing to move. I was told no. The next morning when I went down to check / check in I was asked if I just wanted to stay in the same room. Great customer service from the clerk on Monday mornings and not so great from the one on Sunday evening. The bed was comfortable. It had the kind of pillows that I like, four small "squishy type". Much easier to get a stack of pillows to the height I like with those than the big firm ones. The room had my favorite amenity - a chair that was comfortable to sit in and read. So few hotels provide that. This even had a floor lamp with it. The location is great. Two short blocks from the Roosevelt station on the orange line. So a cheap and easy way to get to the hotel from Midway. There is also a Metra station about a block and a half away. The Field Museum is about two blocks away and the aquarium and planetarium are just beyond that. So if you are doing a museum weekend it would be hard to get any closer. We were at a conference at McCormack Place and stayed here instead if the attached hotels. We saved more than 50% of the room rate doing that. A cab or Uber was around $10-12 to McCormack place. There are restaurants nearby. Yolk is right next door and is very good for breakfast or lunch. The hotel is actually pretty small, maybe 24 rooms per floor. So the hallway noise was minimal. There is construction noise from a project next door so you won't be able to sleep in past 7. That seems to be pretty common around the area. Also, my room was on the south side overlooking a dog run from a building next door so some barking, but not late at night.

    First time i had to ask for room change. A/C doesn't work properly and very noisy. Room next door really next door (Just internal door separation) => I know everything on my neighbors .... Manger doesn't answer after claim so meaning doesn't really about customer satifaction. Run away and find a best place for some more dollars

    For the price paid this hotel was good value. The room was clean and comfortable but the hotel is getting a little dated and could use a refurbishment. The heating/cooling unit in the room was noisy and I woke up many times when it kicked in. The staff was excellent and helpful. I would go back to this hotel

    Rooms were basic but comfortable. Close to attractions, sporting venues and food places. Only slight negative was noisy aircon, but otherwise loved the place. Staff were very helpful. We loved Chicago and would definately stay at BW Grant Park again.

    In general it wasn't bad, BUT on Saturday evening the shower water barely reached luke warm! Also our bathroom door was unable to close (the timber door had warped) and the bathroom mirror frame obstructed the sink faucet meaning that only a slow dribble of water came out. The location was good and we had a nice view of the park but seriously - they couldn't even hang a mirror without it resting on the water tap?!?? I would not stay here again.

    Great location, clean and comfortable, and probably the best staff of any hotel I've ever stayed at, all at a very reasonable price. The rooms are updated and quiet. The staff really is exceptional. Everyone has a friendly greeting for you. They have a place for you to store your bags if you arrive before or depart after the check in/out times.

Hotel bar never gets busy ,do recommend heading to a local bar for a bit more atmosphere. But over all good experience.

    I had such a nice experience at this hotel, where they hold the door open for you (while keeping an eye on who enters the lobby). I checked into the fourth floor, and knew I'd be unhappy to be near the elevator and nearby site under construction. The front desk set me up in 911 where it was peaceful and I had a view of the park life outside. I was traveling alone, so the room felt spacious. I slept perfectly well. They held my bags on my final day as I explored. I realized I'd somehow lost my Fitbit and alerted the front desk in case housekeeping found it. Although they had cleaned the room for the next guest (but did not find it) they kept it vacant until I returned at 3 p.m. to retrieve my bags. At that time they offered me a key and I found the black Fitbit under the bed. I thought it was very thoughtful of the staff to hold the room for me to do a final check. Very pleasant experience throughout.

    This might be the BEST Best Western in the world. Rooms were updated and spotless, service was incredible, location is perfect. From the moment I walked in the door (at about 9:30am), I was impressed. A doorman opened the door to the modern lobby (as he did my entire stay). The general manager apologized for my short wait behind two people being helped at the front desk. When I asked if (by some miracle) I could check in or store my bag, the front desk attendant actually called the housekeeping manager and asked if I could wait a few mins while they finished the cleaning checklist on a room. I was checked in 2 mins later! Also at the front desk, they offered me flavored water and a map of the city (on which he pointed out his favorite things without me asking). I was still skeptical as I took the elevator to my room, but was quickly relieved at the state of the accommodations! Modern TV and bathroom with ample counter space, comfortable bed, and a room with a view of Grant Park. The next day, I kept the "do not disturb" sign on the door until I left after 1:30pm. Still, when I returned at 5:00pm, my room was refreshed! The location is great. I walked to the Auditorium Theater and the Field Museum. The CIBC theater was just two train stops away. I only booked here because of all the positive reviews. Otherwise, I would never have considered staying at a Best Western. Usually, I opt for hotels like Courtyard Marriott at this star level. This Best Western is great. You won't regret staying here!

    « I almost kept my great experience a secret »

    I almost didn't review this hotel because I wanted to keep it to myself. However the only reason I chose this hotel was because of reviews by other Trip Advisor members. I stayed overnight from October 28-29 for the Chicago Hot Chocolate race. This little gem sits across from Grant Park on the Field Museum and Soldier field side. The hotel updated their rooms and the look is very clean and contemporary. My room was a corner room with a queen bed. I had two windows with a view of two buildings. Oh well can't win it all. The bathroom is a sink with plenty of counter space, a toilet and shower. No bathtub. The shower head is the rainfall kind. The hotel staff was exceptional. Very professional and kind. The lobby was clean and offers a business center with two computers. Only one computer has the ability to print. I took the train to union station and used public transportation to get there. However because I got off at the wrong stop I ended up walking a good portion. I also walked past the hotel because the entrance is actually on 11th Street and not on Michigan. There is a small restaurant that faces Michigan avenue and also connects to the hotel. When I got there I felt and looked bedraggled however the hotel front desk person who checked me in treated me very professionally. Check in is at 3 pm. I arrived at 12:30 fully prepared to store my luggage. I was fortunate that my room was ready and I could freshen up before a 1 pm engagement. The room was also clean and contemporary and the bed was one of the best I ever slept in. I almost missed participating in the race which was the primary reason I went to Chicago. I requested and was granted a late check out because I knew the time of the race would put me close to check out time. It was very nice to freshen up before taking the train home. I hope the company maintains this property because this has been one of the best experiences I've had with a Chicago hotel. I will definitely be returning.

    I had something wrong with my car and came out to Chicago because my daughter and her friend went to a concert and her friend became very sick and was rushed to a hospital out there.     We were helping our son move to Chicago and was so glad that this hotel was right next door. The staff was great from the minute we arrived until we left. We did have an issue with the AC unit in our first room but it was taken care of in no time by Mr. Gonzalez. He was so helpful and even went with us to the new room to make sure that AC was ok. The breakfast at the restaurant was really good and our server was very nice and attentive. We will be back for sure when visiting our son.

    Central location - worked really well with our group as we were there for the Chicago Marathon. Millennium and Grant parks are well within walking dis trance. Train stiation is also nearby. Close to the theaters, museums and restaurants (deep-dish pizza legends!!!). Front desk staff were helpful. No refrigerator and pot for boiling water in the room. It takes a while before hot water comes out of the shower. Service in the restaurant was below par.

    My Cousin and his wife was in from Greenville South Carolina and we wanted to find a hotel clean and around $200 a night. Best West Grant Park was suggested from a coworker and he was dead on as far as the location and Value. We return to Chicago and stay there Again.

    I selected this hotel due to its availability and location. Like many hotels in Chicago, the building is old but it has been tastefully updated and is well maintained. The room was perfect for our needs and ALL hotel staff could not have been friendlier. Breakfast coupons are furnished for the restaurant in the building and we enjoyed a full, hot breakfast each morning. The hotel is located across Michigan Avenue from Grant Park and there were numerous, excellent restaurants within a 2-3 block distance.

    I have never been to Chicago. On my 2017 road trip I made it one of my stops. Was fortunate to get a great corner room at the Best Western. It was perfectly located for me and for the adventures on my agenda. The hotel staff were very helpful and knowledgeable and helped me feel welcome to Chicago. I absolutely will be staying here again if I ever get the chance to visit Chicago again! Note for late sleepers: they are in the process of building a new building right next door and it did cause some morning noise. It did not bother me any because I am a early riser.

    This hotel is conveniently located directly across the street from Grant Park. It is walking distance to Museum Campus, the Art Institute, Cloud Gate and the Magnificent Mile. Yet it is not so close to these attractions that it is bright and noisy. It is clean and unpretentious. The main entrace is actually on the side street and the building itself looks more like an office building. The staff is friendly and professional. The rooms are small but the price is fair for the convenience. There are only 2 elevators and during our week long stay 1 of them was out of service for 3 days. While this was inconvenient it was not horrific. There is a small bistro on the first floor across from the lobby and while being overpriced their food was fresh and good. I have already recommended this place to a friend.

    « Great Value hotel and how to get there! »

    This hotel offers great value being at the lower end of the downtown area close to the lake and acquarium and also close to public transport and the water taxi. The locality is a pleasant one with a variety of restaurants - we used Starbucks for breakfast and a very good pub just a few yards to the south of the hotel for dinner. The hotel is scrupulously clean and the rooms are comfortable - we had a partial view of the lake. The staff are very helpful and I would not hesitate to stay here again. Taxis and shuttles from O'Hare are quite expensive but if you use the 'L' - ( Blue line) accessed from Terminals 1-3, changing at Clark/Lake to the Orange Line alighting at Roosevelt, you will be only a few hundred yards from the hotel. It involves some walking and a few escalators and maybe the odd stairs but if you are reasonably fit and do not have too much luggage, it will cost you $5 to the hotel and $2.50 on the way back. We managed it and we are both in our seventies.

    Not only is this hotel a great price and location, but the staff was fabulous. The front desk check-in ladies went above and beyond to assist us with directions to get onto the rail line to the airport with the least hassle with our bags. The room was plenty big enough for 3 grown ladies, a nice view, clean, comfortable. Excellent location to South Shore Line and other transportation around Chicago. I recommend this hotel HIGHLY

    The hotel is with in a 1/4 mile of the field museum (our fav of the whole trip) the planetarium and the aquarium. The art inst. was also within walking distance. The room was CLEAN and the price great. King size bed suite at 140 during the week. This included frig. and microwave. The restaurant was great. Top notch service.

    Stayed for one week with wife and our 1 year old. Clean room and friendly staff. As all hotel in greater cities there are no microwaves or a fridge in standard rooms. I know it but I don't like it. We walked everywhere downtown from the hotel. Yes, we have good shoes... PRO: good location, friendly staff, clean room CON: restaurant next door (don't go there), construction work outside entrance (temporary), no fridge and no microwave in room, don't call it a fitness center

    « Good spot to stay for a week »

    We choose this BW because they offered a good multi-night discounted rate for the entire week we stayed in Chicago. We were very satisfied with the location, as there was a bus stop almost right in front on S Michigan St, a two and a half block walk away on Roosevelt Street was the metro train station, and buses and trains were coming and going all the time. We bought a week long pass that allowed us to use both methods of transportation to get everywhere we wanted to go in the city. Chicago is very luck to have a great transit system. It will also keep you in shape, as it is not unusual to have to walk up and down a lot of stairs to get to/from the trains. We drove our car into the city but used Spot Hero to find an economical parking space for the week and we never had to use the car for the entire week. There is a café connected to the hotel. They do not have a sign out front so it's hard to figure out there's an eating place unless you walk in. They were open morning, noon, and night and served a decent breakfast and good coffee. There are other eating places within easy walking distance, or you can just hop on a bus and go where all the people are on the upper end of Michigan Street. I think the hotel was completely booked when we were there as we kept seeing at least two different tour groups meeting in the lobby. Even with all the people, our room was very quiet, but the elevators were sometimes a little slow. We also got a room with a good view, as the windows looked north over Grant Park and we could see the very high water shooting up from Buckingham Fountain. We also were able to sit in our bed and watch fireworks for at least three of the nights we were there. Just across the street from the hotel are the headless walking body metal sculptures in Grant Park. They are fun to walk through. We had a king sized room which seemed a little small, but I think that had to do with the building being old, and because we were always gone, it just didn't matter. We did have plenty of space to put our suitcases for the week. There is no microwave or small refrigerator in the room, but there is a coffee maker and a hairdryer in a bag in the bathroom. The WiFi worked just fine. When we travel we do not think it is necessary for people to be cleaning our room every day, so I can only say we were satisfied with housekeeping for the one day we did have them clean the room. We like to save water. The bathroom was nicely updated and very clean with a good towel supply, as well as, the usual shampoo, condition, soap, and lotion. I really appreciate the lotions the hotels leave out, but this time we got a shower cap, so it was another very useful item that we I used. Check in and check out was very easy and the lobby employees all were very friendly and nice. We had no problems so we never had to interact with them other than checking in and out. Overall we were very pleased with our stay. The room, sheets, and bathroom were all clean.

    The hotel itself is ok, but at the time it was the best price. The staff was very helpful & prompt to valet my car. What I loved most about this Hotel was the location. It was perfect for us to walk to all of the main attractions in that area. The have plenty of the community bikes to rent and driving services everywhere. Keep in mind our room faced Michigan Ave, so there was "city noise" but we slept just fine and got to see the sun come up over Lake Michigan.

    We stayed here for the weekend. It was a nice hotel. The staff was really wonderful and helpful. The room was a little dated but it was great for the price. It's really close to the Field museum and Shedd Aquarium. We were able to walk there easily. It's also close to the L that takes you right to the airport. Would stay here again.

    I spend five days at this hotel. From the minute we arrived to the minute we left the staff could not have done much more. Armena and the staff were brilliant in helping us in any way they could. Great welcome to Chicago from the Armena. When we arrived at the hotel we recognized an error in the booking from our travel agent who booked one room for 4 adults. When we showed this to Armena she gave us an upgrade to a suite with no extra charge. The room was spacious and had a fold out bed and two large double beds. The tv was good with loads of channels. The bathroom was a little small but ok. The shower was ok and could be managed easily. The fitness center was good for what I needed it for. It was small and did not have any free weights area. The only disappointment was that the pool is gone but it is no big deal. The hotel was within walking distance of the parks and Field museum, air and space museum and aquarium. There is a bus stop across the road that can bring up to the main areas of the city or you can walk. Lou Malnatis is great for the deep dish pizza and `yolk is good for the breakfast which is next to the hotel. If you are tired and don't want to go out Meis kitchen which is in the same building as the hotel is good and they do happy hour from 5-7 with specials on beer. All in all it was a great stay and will definitely return to Chicago for sure. I will stay here for sure.

    The staff here were so patient and so kind. They went out of there way to help me and my husband find our way around Chicago. It's a really beautiful location and really close to the "L" which was really convenient for going up to Wrigley Field and down to Chinatown. You can also take the "L" into downtown, which is walking distance but about 20 blocks. Everything seems closer than it is in Chicago... A great place to stay and really convenient. Highly recommended!

    The place itself was ok. The staff was very nice and very helpful. Nothing too exciting about the hotel; there's no pool. Rooms were smaller than it appeared to be in pictures. The hallways are pretty narrow. The one elevator was not efficient at all. All in all, it was a place to sleep after a busy day in the city but I wouldn't come back to this particular hotel.

    We found the staff to be extremely helpful and friendly whenever we interacted with them. Convenient location and affordable rooms. This hotel is located within walking distance from Soldier Field, the Field Museum, the Shedd Aquarium, and the planetarium. There is also a CTA station around the corner and a hop on and hop off tour bus stop a couple blocks away. Highly recommended or a stay in Chicago near the loop.

    Stayed here for five nights. Brilliant location for the Field museum, Art Institute etc. Room, bed and breakfast were fine. The hotel laundry was as advertised except that I had to ask at reception for it instead of it being delivered automatically back to the room. Otherwise the staff were very helpful. The only real downside was noise at night - there is a train station within earshot and street noise was quite audible in the room.

    The only reason I didn't give it a 5 was from the street level there was nothing identifying the hotel. We made 2 passes around the block before realizing we had reached our destination. Parking was just ok as well. We didn't use the hotel parking as it was the most expensive. The staff explained several other options which were more affordable. Overall the hotel was great, great location, clean, up to date and great staff.

    This hotel was booked for us through an agent. The location was great to be close to the Aquarium and Field Museum, it is also quite close to Millennium Park too. The hotel is clean and comfortable with polite and attentive employees. This was a room only deal so we did not have breakfast in the hotel, however we did eat Dinner one evening in the restaurant, the food and service was good. The main sites of the city are easily accessible from the hotel and walking is an option. You can get a Water taxi from the Aquarium pier down to Navy pier. Also bus and Loop stops are close by.

    I happened to find this hotel because many of the other hotels were booked. I was a bit apprehensive, but surprised at how nice it is and at an affordable rate. It was to get to from the expressway. It's centrally located with many bars and restaurants close by. The room was quiet and the staff was professional and helpful. I enjoyed my short stay and will come back.

    So convenient - right across the street from Grant Park Field Museum Planetarium Aquarium dog parks walking trails biking hiking right in the Heart of the City excellent location recently remodeled and adequate Best Western standards. Mais kitchen is in the same building. Looks much nicer than the food quality. Very dumb lost and found policy. A medical heart monitoring machine was left in the room when the ambulance arrived to assist us. They did not call and advise us that they found it. The name and phone number was available to them. Medtronic's card and phone number serial number was also available. They could have made a tiny effort to alert us. When we needed it it again, four days later I called the hotel and was twice promised to call back. Never got it. Went to the hotel and picked up the monitor machine. Was informed that they will keep him for six months and then discard them. I suggested that they make a minor effort when they obviously locate item of value. Could Best Western company policy be this dumb and widespread at all locations? Very disappointed in the sloppy manner at this hotel. I thought better of the organization not anymore

    Hotel was a good value for the money. Rooms were very clean and staff was friendly. Was conveniently located near museums and parks. Was a little noisy as the sidewalk outside the hotel was being replaced, but that is only a temporary situation. Wish rooms would include a refrigerator.

    Hotel is reasonable and meets acceptable "Cookie Cutter" hotel standards, however as is the case with many older hotels, the in-room air conditioners are dreadful. The low fan is too high, and the compressor cutting in and out makes it impossible to sleep with the air con ON.

    This was a great location for our long weekend getaway, located on Michigan Avenue at the south end of Grant Park (which is directly across the street). It's near the museum district, plus close to the CTA trains (red, orange & green lines are just 3 blocks away at Roosevelt station)...we could even see the Navy Pier fireworks from our bed! The cozy & cute rooms were well furnished, and felt recently updated, plus our rate was great! I'm very happy with this find, and will likely be back when in town for business. Also, check out Eleven Diner just around the corner on Wabash...great Jewish deli we enjoyed maybe a little TOO much.

    We stayed here for 6 nights. The room was updated and clean. The bathroom is small, but has everything you need. Unfortunately there was no fridge or microwave in the room, but that was the only thing missing. The A/C is a little loud, so we turned it off at night. The beds were good, we could sleep well. The location is great, close the Grant Park (just across the street), the is a busstop right by the hotel, and the "L" station is a 3 min walk away. There are 3 lines (orange, red and green) going to the hotel, so it is really easy getting anywhere in town from there. I would stay here again next time I´m in Chicago.

    We spent four nights here and couldn't have been happier with our stay. It's within walking distance of the museums and parks but it's also not far from the bus stops that will take you there either. There's a bus stop just across the street that can take you north on Michigan easily, and to get to the Museum of Science and Industry you can take a quick walk through the park to another bus station. We loved how close this hotel is to public transportation and great local restaurants (especially Lou Malnati's and Devil Dawgs). Beds were very comfortable and clean, tv was fine (not that we watched it much). You can ask for a mini fridge for your stay if you need one.

    Older Building..... Room are updated and fine! Some room and elevator doors need to be replaced. The STRENGTH of this hotel is the Staff. EVERYONE we had interaction with made the experience great. It is NOT the cheapest option, NOR the most expensive, but it IS in the city,(The South Loop) and everything is either a good walk (Get used to that when you visit major cities), or a short taxi ride away. It was NICE to see friendly helpful folks every time we needed something! Thanks for that. Easy to get to, Easy to Park, if you are smart enough to use the Valet (C'mon it is worth it if your coming to ANY larger City..... you're going to spend some money, anyway). Nice, restaurants are available with an easy walk all around.... The restaurant attached (Mei's Kitchen), went out of their way to serve my wife and I breakfast PAST their breakfast time, as the "Yolk" next door was FULL of "Marathon" patrons. Thanks for that, also.

    We loved this hotel, we walk from here to the main attractions and to the metro station (blue line that is the only one that goes to the Airport) Price was good, and service was great! they help us with our luggage since we arrived and on the day that we did the check out. Really appreciated! I'm sure you can stay here and had a great time meanwhile you see the city!

I asked if employees had access to a microwave that I could use and no, they don't have one. The price of this hotel is pretty high when there are no amenities. They should at least give free bottles of water.

    Convenient location to an L station, and close to the Field, Shedd, and Planetarium. Staff is excellent. However, don't plan to get much sleep. You can hear everything outside (traffic, people, construction), and I was on the 5th floor.

    The hotel is old but they are definitely updating it. The location is fantastic, there is a great place for breakfast in the building and a fantastic place called the Burger Bar at the end of the block. Valet parking is step at $52 daily.

    Close to Shedd Aquarium, Field Museum, Adler Planetarium, and walking distance to Navy Pier and Millennium Park. Room are adequate but not large by any standard. No refrigerator in rooms. Had a pool in the past but that area is being converted into an outdoor plaza type area. Not sure about completion date. Room was clean but furnishings were a little dated. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Rooms facing 11th Street can be noisy as crowds from late night events disperse. Still, great location and good price make this hotel perfectly acceptable.

    The hotel itself is nice and clean. However, we found the staff to be pretty unhelpful. When I went to the front desk to check in, they were not friendly at all and didn't explain how the valet worked. Apparently, we were supposed to call down before we were ready to leave, but since no one told us that (and that wasn't indicated anywhere on the valet ticket), we had to wait about 20 minutes for our car when we were checking out. Also, when we got into our room, we realized the room didn't have a fridge. I called the front desk to see if there were any rooms with fridges (completely willing to pay an extra fee). I was told they would check and call me back. After about 30 minutes with no call back, I called again. I was told they couldn't move us but could bring a fridge to our room and it was on its way up. I was really impressed that they offered to do that; however, again, after about half an hour of waiting, I called again and they said they would send it up. Finally, the fridge arrived. Unfortunately, it was really broken (all the dials inside were removed, and the element on the back was falling off) and it didn't work at all. It was just really frustrating that we were waiting around for so long for nothing. Later, I called down to ask for a couple of extra pillows because the pillows thet provided were really small and thin. Again, I was told they were on the way, but they never did show up. We have stayed many times at Best Westerns and never had a problem before, so this was really disappointing.

    As people have moved into downtown Chicago, the South Loop area has become more popular. This hotel, which used to be on the fringe of the tourist area, is now a great location to walk to so many different sites. The park across the street (Grant Park) is lovely - the Bean is only about a 10 minute walk, as is the Art Institute. You can easily walk to the Field Museum, the Shedd Aquarium, or the Adler Planetarium. There are lots of good restaurants nearby, as well as a Trader Joe's and a Walgreens. What a wonderful location!

    We stayed here over a weekend of museums, restaurants and observation decks. Very close to the museum campus, walked over there twice. The room was nice, the staff was very friendly and helpful. Even the maintenance man asked about our stay and how our room was working out. Our room was in the back of the hotel so I cannot comment on room noise for those on Michigan Avenue.

    Decent hotel in a good position. No breakfast included. You have to go in another , separate place to have a breakfast! Very strange.... During the checkout the consierge told me that invoice will be send me the day after (can't undestand why They didn't print immediately..... maybe where was no paper in the printer?). After 9 days I still waiting and customer care wrote me They can't help me and I should call directly the hotel (I stay in Italy , and have to pay for a International call..... )

Hotel is in a very convenient location we were able to walk everywhere we needed to go, with the furthest walk being to Navy Pier, that was about 2.5 miles and took 45 minutes or so an I am a slow walker.

    Hotel location is very good. Overlooks a park and several nearby restaurants. Enjoyed the stay although a very brief 24 hours. The room did not have enough walking space as my room had 2 big beds leaving very little room to place the luggage and move around. Rooms could use one queen size bed instead of 2 beds in the small sized room.

    I stayed for 2 nights in June, 2017. Here are pros and cons. Pros: Great location near the millennium park and Roosevelt cta train station. The pricing. Roomy. Clean bathroom and shower room. Friendly staffs. Cons: Street noise, especially from cta train track. My room was for non smoking but I smelled strong cigar smoke. (I am guessing that the cigar odor came through either hallway or A/C pipe..?) Blue line to O'Hare is not close to the hotel.

    Walking distance to soldier field. We recommend staying here because it's the closest and beats staying $400 a night anywhere else on the magnificent mile. It was about $250 a night here. Room service kind of sucked because the first day they didn't come at all and we had to call them down around 3:30. Then the next morning there knocking on your door at 7:30am. We've stayed here twice for concerts at soldier field.

    HVAC was too loud in the bedroom. The vent return in the bathroom had air coming out constantly and blower made a loud noise. Requested a refrigerator 2 days in a row and finally on the 3rd day I was given one that did not work. Sent that one back and was brought a working refrigerator.

    Too noisy, insulation between rooms and corridor terrible and also the windows out to the street. For the price we where paying (nearly $300 US per night) I would expect a silent room. The personal at the reception where excellent and the hotels location on the south Michigan ave is great depending on what you are looking for.

    Conveniently located near several shops, bars and eateries. Not too far from the Convention Center, took only 5-10 minutes with the shuttle. Also staff was very accommodating when I asked for a fridge to be placed in my room. There is a grocery store just around the corner and I got a few supplies that needed to be kept cold.

    Right on Michigan Ave, across from Grant Park. The whole of the area is accessible to you from this location. Why 4 stars, not 5, well, it's missing some amenities, so read on. Got a great rate. Check in was a breeze. The hotel is not well marked, easy to miss, main entrance over on a side street. Did not have a car. Staff was very helpful. The hotel is remodeled, very nice. However, there are those old "bones" you cannot change, like the width of the halls and width of door ways and size of bathroom that you cannot change and give evidence of the actual age of the building. No work out areas (although I lost count of the gyms in the area. No room service, and the attached diner, is, well, not worth while. May be for a drink, or to pick up a snack in early AM. My room 908 was *huge*, twice the other room sizes with magnificant views of Grant Park, the lake, and Navy Pier. Fireworks visible from room...major points with the wife.... Staff said only a few of the rooms have this view, so I would check. Also said 908 is the only room that big. The remodel is very nicely done, with a dining/meeting table, microwave and fridge, work desk, with a counter separating the sleeping area. Free internet was fast enough. TV had good choice of channels. No movie/PPV menu. Street noise was *not* controlled by the remodel, skate boarders easily heard from our room. However, side street is quiet and this did not disturb us. I liked the bed, although staff said the bedding in that room was due for upgrade, as was the couch/pull out bed. Overall, I would use this again, but the lack of amenities will turn off some visitors. Staff is *excellent* and seems determined to please.

    The location was amazing! I could walk everywhere I wanted to see. The staff was friendly and very helpful! The room I had had a great view of the Willis tower AND the lake. The only tingling that was less than par here was the a/c in my room was old and would shoot out black fuzz or something.

    My children and I hit the streets of Chicago over a Memorial Day Weekend and stayed at a the perfect hotel! Directly across the street from Grant Park, Best Western is minutes away from Giordanos, steps away from bus transit lines and other scenic parks! Rooms were spacious and well stocked with amenities. We called for extra pillows, blankets and linens and had them within minutes of calling. The Hospitality desk is bar none and goes above and beyond to make your stay enjoyable! Would stay here again, repeatedly!

    We stayed here three days after having problems with another hotel. The price and location are very good. We did not have to use the car at all. It is a close walk to the museums, The Bean and close to public transportation which we took to Wrigley field. The staff was generally very friendly except for one person in our check in. It is attached to a restaurant with a good selection. The room was clean (except for a few ants in the bathroom one day) and comfortable. One word of warning. Other reviews point to the $52 per night parking with unlimited in and out privileges. However, there is a garage down the street that is much cheaper...if you don't plan to use the car much. The staff did let us know, but we didn't know what our plans were so just settled for the hotel valet parking. In retrospect this was not the right decision and we should have used the garage a couple blocks away. It was probably about half the price. Live and learn..... Otherwise I would recommend the hotel.

    One of the ACs in the room 823 is broken, there's no heat came out of it. I had to turn the other AC temperature up high in order to keep the room warm, so can sleep. Hope the hotel check the appliance regularly.

This location was perfect as we were across from Grant Park and within walking distance of our show and the price was affordable. The staff was friendly and very helpful.     Clean hotel. Great location. We were able to walk to most of the places we wanted to go. The bathroom doesn't have a fan, which I do prefer but not really a problem. I would recommend bringing your own hairdryer as the one in the room in puny. There is construction but it didn't bother us since we were gone during the day anyway.

    Stayed at this hotel for business but had family with me. Looks old from outside but is updated nicely inside. Really close to where I had to be. Right across from Grant Park which helped out with activities for the kids. Sad part:$52 a day to park car. Yikes! The staff is very friendly and there is a great restaurant just inside which we had breakfast in. Very convenient!

    the hotel was still partially under renovation. Receptionists were all but 2 very impolite and we had the impression that this was also due to our foreigner nationality. Rooms are fine, not super clean but fine, except for the fact that they are very humid and windows are framed by moss and mold. I picked this hotel only because it was close to where I had to work and relatively cheap. But I wouldn't recommend it.

    My son and I had travelled all night and we were so thankful the front desk allowed us to check in early. All front desk staff were very friendly and easy to approach. Our room was newly renovated and very nice. Bed was comfortable. WiFi was pretty good for normal things but download speed was slow. Our room faced the side of the building but we could see the lake and Navy Pier in the distance. We loved the location being so close to the lake. Hotel was quiet. I was a little worried about not having a warm shower after reading some reviews but we didn't have any problems so I assume that issue was resolved. The hotel was very clean. We ate in the restaurant and that was probably the only thing we didn't care for. It didn't seem very busy and the food was meh. It looked busier for breakfast so maybe that is better. It was a little inconvenient they didn't have a water fountain but they were very happy to offer us bottled water. We got a pretty good price for the location. We will definitely stay there again.

    Just spent a night at Best Western Michigan Ave Chicago. First the price was great for Chicago. The hotel had a old smell and carpets in the hall way and room need replacing. The rooms are basic-no frills. Couch was old in room. The fridge and microwave were just sitting in a corner. The mattress was so soft I rolled to the middle. The pillows were small. The lobby was nice. The distance to shopping was a bit far. The staff was friendly. Not sure if I will book this hotel again. If you want a reasonable hotel this is the one for you.

    We were here for a convention and the location was great!!! A few minutes from the convention and had great food within walking distance! I would highly recommend staying here. The only downside we found was there was no fridge in our room to save leftovers in.

To mention a few of the eateries, The Yolk right next door, Kitty O'Shea's about 2 blocks north & Burger Bar one block south which had the BEST prime rib sandwich.

    This was our first family trip to Chicago for a college tour. School recommended the hotel along with others. Best Western was the better price and service was friendly, fast and very helpful. Valet parking was worth the price for peace and convenience. If we choose this school, we would definitely use this hotel again.

    I stayed at this hotel for a business trip in the middle of the week and would not stay there again on future visits. First, the good. The location is awesome for walking to museums and the lake. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. If the hotel did not have so many shortcomings, the high level of service might have convinced me to keep coming back. The room itself was clean and recently updated except for the a/c system which worked but was incredibly loud. So on to the bad. The first is temporary but still annoying, which is that the gym was under construction. They did give me a pass to go to a gym 10 minutes away but that was an inconvenience I would rather not have had to deal with. Second, there is no microwave or mini refrigerator in the room. That is just ridiculous. And that reason alone is enough for me to never stay there again. The a/c system was so loud that it woke me up every single time it turned on throughout the night which lead to a poor night's sleep. The view would have been nice but the windows were so grimy I could barely see out. Lastly, the bed was hard as a rock. All in all though the room was clean and nice looking, I had a horrible night's stay due to lack of sleep.

We received a discount, which is much-needed and appreciated when one has a student at Columbia! Will definitely stsy hrre again.

    Good location, near The Loop and just infront of Grant Park near Field Museum and Shedd aquarium, and at a 15-minute walk from Millenium Park and the Art Institute. The outside of hotel was under renovation when we stayed there, but didn't bother us much. Although apparently the inside has already undergone renovation, the reception, hallways and lifts still look like they need to be renewed. The rooms were very spacious with comfortable beds. The air conditioner/heating machine was very noisy, so we ended up shutting it off when we were going to sleep and adding an extra blanket.

    Supposedly the room doors are going to be replaced, but my room door was so hard to open and close that I had to throw all my weight into it. After complaining several times, I was finally moved to another room where although the door still stuck some, it was tolerable. I finally got a maintenance man to look at the door. After he confirmed how bad it was, I was moved.

Should be done within the month rooms excellent Bathrooms excellent - could use an additional towel rail on the walls near the door ( room 625/626) the current one above the toilet a bit of a stretch. shower super good flow nice and hot the PTAC unit (a/c heatpump) a bit noisy and in 626 un reasonably noisy it does have an issue. once the hotel renovations complete it will look great. I would definitely stay again next time I am in Chicago

    We purchased this hotel through Expedia and there was no mention that this hotel was undergoing construction. We didn't get to the hotel until 1am so we weren't impressed by the fact that the Best Western signs were covered in scaffolding, so we drove around for 30 minutes assuming the GPS was incorrect. After checking in we boarded the elevator which looked like it hasn't been refurbished since 1950, the corridors are dark and dingy. The rooms are OK, but the double beds were like 2' apart with even less room to walk around them. Because we got to bed at like 1.30 am we weren't impressed that around 8am the construction started and this involved noise so loud you couldn't talk in the room. The construction guys were right outside the window drilling holes with hammer drills and hanging steel I beams. They were complaining to the guy below they didn't fit right and started hammering! So we felt like we got screwed paying $255.00 for a night at a construction site and we were most disappointed that we weren't told of the construction when we booked.

    My family and I recently stayed at this hotel for three nights. The hotel was undergoing renovations at that time but they didn disturb us. We got a room that clearly hadn't been renovated in too many years to mention. The carpet wasn't great. The bed was ok. The pillows were awful. On the upside, the bathroom was spacious and the shower was really good. We had no fridge in our room but we got one in the hall staff gave us the fridge. The staff were friendly. We ate breakfast every morning in the cafe there and it was good. Good location. Quiet hotel too.

    My boyfriend and I stayed in this hotel this past weekend and it was one of the worst places I have ever stayed. The room and hallways are very uninviting and the carpeting is very old. The curtains on the windows as well as the shower curtain is disgusting and old, need to be replaced. For some reason we had no hot water, we let the water run for a while but it still did not exceed lukewarm temps, made showering miserable. The door to our room didn't close unless you pulled/pushed it very hard. Right before we checked out my boyfriend used the bathroom for the last time and the handle fell off of the faucet in the bathroom sink. Only positive review I have is the sheets were clean and the bed was pretty comfortable.

    This hotel is being rennovated and I cannot recommend it in its present condition. The elevator and hallways are a bit creepy and if you're in a room that is facing the side street you will not sleep well when trucks roll by in the early morning. The room was in a state of partial rennovation: bathroom and beds were newer, but the rug and furniture dated. Keep your socks on at all times. My room was directly across from the ice machine and that did not help at bedtime, plus the staff decided to do some vacuuming in the hallway after 10 pm. There are probably better choices nearby, but I don't know price-wise as this hotel was booked for me.

    The surly check in at the desk, was only the beginning. Ended up in room 922 on the top floor, when we entered the room, it sounded as if there were someone in the shower in the next room, then the noise got louder. Perhaps we were situated near the compressor, but at night it sounded like a freight train was running through the room. Unfriendly staff, and no shuttles to the airport,(as was promised on Expedia), made this way less of a bargain than first thought.

The sink in the bathroom was falling out of it's table, the panel under the sink was falling off and the tapestry in the hallway was peeling.     You can't beat this location within easy walking distance of major attractions (Adler Planetarium, Field Museum, Art Institute, Shedd Aquarium, Grant Park, the Lake Michigan lakefront). There are several colleges (Columbia, Roosevelt, DePaul) in the neighborhood which makes it an excellent location if you're visiting one of them. There are many places to eat within walking distance. If you're coming in a car, they have parking but it's fairly pricey. Putting the car in a local lot is cheaper unless you want to use it during your stay. At the hotel you can take it out as often as you want, which is a benefit. If you are coming by plane, it's only 6 stops from Midway Airport. The building is undergoing renovation, with only the 3 top floors done (7,8,9). Try to stay in a renovated room-the other ones are pretty tired and definitely need a facelift. Staff is very friendly and helpful.

    I have been using this hotel for some years. I was quite happy to hear about the renovation as the establishment needed it, especially including the soundproofing of windows. But one thing has changed and not in good. It's the breakfast ! Before it was a buffet style. With the new direction it becomes an American Breakfast Platter served at the table. The only problem, there is not enough staff the morning to serve it and she the hotel is full, you can wait up to one hour before you get served !! So that not what I call an improvement in service. Why this change when all the hotels around the whorl serve as buffet style ? May be they will change it and when all the renovation is done it will become a perfect hotel !

    My husband surprised me with a trip to Chicago for my 28th Birthday. We had a very early morning flight so we arrived at the hotel at 6am, however check in is usually at 3pm. Thankfully the very kind front desk staff were able to check us in early as our room was ready. The hotel is undergoing renovation works, so our room had recently been renovated and so was very modern and up to date. The room itself was spotless and a very good size. The location of this hotel is perfect as it's walking distance (20 mins) into "Mag Mile" and there is a CTA train station and bus stop a very short walk away from the hotel. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a really comfortable stay in a great location at a reasonable price. On a final note the front desk staff were very helpful with advising where to go and where to eat. Great experience! :D

    It's quite obvious, on arrival, that the hotel is under a major rehab. The lobby is empty. One of the three small elevators was out of order. It was not ugly or filthy, but one could surely see a work in progress. We were advised that we would have a renovated room on the top floor of the building. Yes, the room was completely redone. Perhaps some finishing touches weren't in place but it was clean and new and OK. The front desk personnel were very helpful and responded to all of our requests. Their recommendations for restaurants were in line with those we saw at tripadvisor and all went well. The hotel is located directly across from Grant Park. It's convenient and comfortable and, for Chicago, very reasonably priced.

    I have stayed at the best western before and decided to stay there again. I booked my reservations well in advance and looked forward to staying there. When I got there this time, however, the hotel seemed to be going under massive renovations. I was a bit disappointed by that because we were constantly dodging construction.     I was aware the hotel was under renovation, but was NOT prepared for what we dealt with. The lobby is uninviting - we actually drove by it several times not being able to find it. It was dreary and depressing. The elevator was so run down it "felt" unsafe. The carpet in the hallways and rooms was FILTHY!!!!! (We were in 2 different rooms because they didn't have the correct room type available when we checked in). In the King room - the second room we finally moved into after 2 nights - the bathroom sink did not drain, which we did not notice until we were getting ready for bed. We had to have maintenance come fix it - at 10:00 PM. It took an hour... Do Not stay here!!!!!!

    Came to Chicago to watch my son run the marathon. Awesome location and comparatively cheap for it's location. The people working there were awesome and extremely helpful in helping us deal with lost luggage issues and really the only upside of the place. They're in the process giving the outside a facelift. The building needs more than a facelift. Lobby was in some form of transitional upgrade; I think.

    I will start with the positive. The staff was very friendly and the rooms were clean. I also liked the fact that they had a safe in the room. However, they failed to mention that they had construction going on when we made reservations. The pictures they have on their site must be pretty old because it was nothing like they showed. When we got there the taxi driver had a hard time finding the entrance because they had no signs saying where it was except on the door after we finally found it. They had a small sign on the corner of the reception desk where people are not likely to see it, and also in the room after we have already checked in. They said there would be noise starting at 8am. They weren't kidding, they had jackhammers going at exactly 8am. The A/C was noisy although not as noisy as the jackhammers but pretty darn close and it was nice and cool when it worked but it kept shutting off and it was very hot quickly after. They only have ice machines on certain floors, the tub and shower has no soap dishes or anything although the shower head was nice. They also didn't have a fan in the bathroom so everything stayed kind of damp. The tv control worked sometimes but not all the time. They have absolutely no chairs or anything in the lobby except the check in desk. no chairs in the rooms except an office chair so if you want to sit and visit you either sit on the floor In the lobby or on the beds in your room. We asked for a wake up call and it was 10 minutes late. the good thing was we were already up because of the noise from the construction. The day we were leaving one of the men that works there tried to come in the room although we had the do not disturb sign on the door. He didn't knock and announce himself. luckily we had the chain lock on. We would not recommend this hotel to anyone unless we didn't like them and then it depends on how much we dislike them.

    Close to the marathon, so location great. Standard of the hotel was very disappointing though. Staff friendly, but rooms cold, wet and noisy, feels like the window would be open. No actual lobby (with bar or similar ) , but close by restaurant has good breakfast.

    My daughter had an interview at the Spanish Consulate the morning of Oct 4th. We drove from Ky to Chicago overnight and found this gem of a hotel a few blocks away from the consulate! It was affordable, clean and the staff was VERY helpful

    The hotel is under major construction downstairs. We look forward to its completion in 2018. In the meantime, it was not a big problem, since we only slept at the hotel, but we did try to nap the first day and there was too much construction noise to do so. Interior of hotel hallways could use an update, and I hope that's part of the renovation. Location is great. Staff is also on point.

    We stayed at this Hotel as part of a tour so I can't comment on value for money, the Hotel was under renovation (and has been for some time apparently) and was sure in need of it! It was tired and not too clean. The air conditioning sounded like a plane taking off and there was no refrigerator in the room, we had to keep things cold by filling our waste bucket with ice from the ice machine. Although there was a check in desk in the lobby there was no where to sit, we had to sit on the windowsills while awaiting the rest of the group to assemble for outings. The only positive thing I can say about it is it was handy to shops, parks etc.

    Like any city location this hotel is trade off. Perfectly situated to fully explore all the delights Chicago has to offer including easily accessible food & shopping. The downside is the city noise, especially from the overground tramway. My number one tip is to make sure you invest in high grade earplugs to ensure good quality sleep. As far as the hotel itself is concerned on first impressions the place looks very tired indeed.The renovations that are taking place will hopefully provide a uplift. In terms of our room it had obviously benefitted from a refurb. Very well presented with two large, comfortable beds, LCD TV coffee facilities, and air con. For a short stay in Chicago it's a satisfactory base, but please don't overlook those noise cancelling plugs!

    Positive things first: The staff are friendly and accommodating. The location is great. But the renovation is problematic. The entrance was hard to find and the lobby is very stark. No furniture and no tourist brochures for visitors. Our room was on the 9th floor which I think was renovated but am not sure. There was a cabinet for a fridge, but no fridge and we had to travel to other floors to get ice from machines that did not work very well. The air conditioner was noisy and not consistent. We probably would stay here again but not until it is fully renovated.

We were there last week and the lobby is being renovated--no place to sit/wait /visit with friends or family. Temporary signs would have been helpful to locate the front door too. Embarrasing, as I booked it and told our friends who were joining us from Australia, that it looked like a nice place.

    Finding the front door was the first issue. Scaffolding everywhere. Entering the lobby was uninviting. It was stark...not even chairs or furniture for guests to sit. The valet parking surcharge was $52 a night! When we entered our room, it was very small for a king. The coffee pot is in the bathroom. Ick. The windows were filthy. Overall décor is dated. They are going on being next to Soldier Field location, because that is all they are offering.

    The quality of this hotel is very poor. I read the bad reviews before leaving on our trip and thought about changing hotels...however, I thought...How bad could it be? The location was great for the activities we had planned?so I kept the reservation. I am not a fancy person and for the value I could put up with some inconveniences for the value (I reserved way in advance). I should have listened to the recent reviews on Trip Advisor. The first room we were given (414), one of the beds was so broken that it almost collapsed when sat on?it actually folded in on the person. The foot of the bed was higher than the head of the bed. Went right down to the lobby and asked for another room. They apologized and put us in room 410. It was a little better than the first room. Still not very clean (better than 414?but not by much), the paint was peeling and falling from the ceilings (like 414). Only difference in this room was that the beds were okay and it was a little cleaner. The air conditioning did not maintain a comfortable temperature, so we discussed it with the front desk. They said they would send someone in while we were out during the day. We came back at night, but it did show any improvement. Room went from warm to hot, then back to warm again?it cycled this way all night?each and every night we were there (3 nights total). You can hear every some noise through the thin walls (city noise, rowdy guests, the L train, some construction?we did not experience jack hammering, construction noise, etc.). Cities can be loud, so this was not really a bother to me. But, when added to the rest of the substandard experiences at the hotel?it just added to the horrible experience. We were out of the hotel room most of the day experiencing Chicago, so we were only there at night to sleep. This hotel should close the rooms/floors that are not renovated or in the process of being renovated and not make them available until they are updated. And if they are not going to close the rooms/floors/hotel down, they should inform their guests of the poor accommodations and/or rent them for $49 per night. Best Western should be ashamed of the rooms we were provided. After this experience, I don't think I can trust Best Western at any of their hotels anywhere. I will never stay at a Best Western again. If you can afford to stay somewhere else, do it!!!

    Try finding the hotel by car. With the renovations ongoing since March 2016, the only clue that there is a hotel on this spot is a piece of paper around the corner on the door that reads "Best Western". And the hotel ads do not tell you that parking is not only not free but ranges from $25/day in a parking garage 2 blocks away to $52/day for valet parking. So add that to the prices advertised. Run as far as possible from this ripoff!!!

    The hotel was priced at 420 per night. The hotel was old, smell bad . The room ceiling the paint was peeling off many places. There are inconsiderate with the hotel guest, workers at 7am with air compressors and Jackhammer doing work. Bed was terrible, it was collapsing on the sides.

    Super location beside museums, aquarium and the Lake. Public transport available nearby Roosevelt station or bus stop for downtown. Room very dark decor though comfortable. Unfortunately the hotel reception area is being renovated. No screening you walk pass half finished building works. No attempt to tidy up in the evening. Luckily we stayed over a weekend as on Monday the noise was so deafening we left two hours early for our train. Constant masonry drilling. The lift was filthy dirty walls and filthy carpet. The attached restaurant provided a poor quality breakfast in another depressing space. We discovered a wonderful restaurant Yolk round the corner and had breakfast there the next two days costing the same price. I have stayed in a lot of best western hotels before this was definitely the worst.

    Three of us, pluses: 1. Great price 2. Great location 3. Nice lunch 4. Super clean room and bathroom, which is a huge plus for me! 5. No bad smells in the room from AC or anything else! Minuses: The only minus I think is that the hotel is on reconstruction, I assume that's why it's a cheap price. But it didn't bother me at all. Definitely will be back! Thank you.

    My wife and I just checked in after a long flight. When the driver pulled up, we couldn't believe it was a hotel entrance. Scaffolding and construction debris everywhere, and the only signs were printed papers taped to the door. The room is dirty and has an odd smell. There's mold around the electric socket. The bed slopes at a 20 degree angle and has that odd vinyl mattress cover. Absolutely disgusting! Our first night of our trip is being spent trying to find a decent place to stay

    The hotel is under construction. Stay above the 7th floor if you want a renovated room. Our un-renovated room was fine, tho, and I'm a very picky and critical traveler. The staff was very helpful and pleasant. There is no room service, but there's a decent little restaurant attached that is open for breakfast and dinner only right now. The hotel is very well situated for colleges in the area, and right opposite Grant Park. I would definitely stay again.

    Myself and three friends had booked a family room to stay here for 6 nights as our friend from the uk was getting married in Chicago. When we arrived after our long flight we were horrified when the taxi driver pulled up outside we were convinced he had dropped us to the wrong place. Anyway we got on with it and headed through what only I can explain as a building site to the 'desk' to check in. Firstly paying by cash was made out to be such a problem but finally we got there with the receptionist telling us randomly 'if your not happy and want to check out tomorrow we can't give you your money back as its cash' we didn't take any notice of it and headed to our room on the 3rd floor! To say we were astonished was an understatement. This was not a family room. With 2 small beds for 4 adults and extremely small!! We dropped in our stuff and headed out to get some food which the gentleman in reception helped us with lots! We woke up the next morning very early to the most horrible construction noise, which I have a video of. One of the girls headed down to ask if we could please have a refund and why we where not told about the construction going on before arriving and why we weren't informed the pool was closed!! The lady who was extremely helpful felt our pain and said we had been given a room on the 3rd floor where the work was being done and asked did we want a different room. We couldn't understand why we would be given a room on the floor the work was being done but I suppose they were just trying to see what they could get away with. Meanwhile a man was checking in and he also got 3rd floor! CLOSE THE FLOOR AND GIVE GUESTS A NEW FLOOR. Meanwhile the man working on reception very sarcastically asked me 'had I never heard construction work before?' which yes of course I have but when I am paying to be on holiday it's just not good enough!!! We finally got our money back and checked my else where!! Also I wouldn't agree about location it's pretty far from centre and when speaking to locals they told us it's one of the less safe areas!! STAY AWAY

    « Great Price for Family of 5; Outstanding location »

    They are renovating the hotel. There is some disorder in the lobby and the bathroom is out of date. Outside the front door there is scaffolding. The pool is being completely re-done and was closed for summer. However, the location is so perfect that it made absolutely no difference. Easy access to the L train. Price was right for Lakefront hotel. Location was perfect for Field Museum. Family Suite was absolutely perfect for a family of 3 kids and 2 adults. HIghly recommended if you can deal with the renovations.

    « Construction was annoying, location was GREAT »

    We wanted a hotel near Soldier Field, and this fit the bill. The lobby was being renovated and was not usable. The room was clean and okay. Although it was August, the pool was already "closed for the season". The walls and doors allowed for quite a bit of noise. There was no breakfast offered, not even a continental, serve yourself, fare. We had to wait, and wait to be checked in, as the receptionist was on the phone, and completely ignored us. Stay again...maybe.

    I have been reading reviews and had pretty low expectations but was pleasantly surprised during our two night stay. Room was nice. I had to ask for additional pillows and towels but room was very clean. Construction is underway but not loud or disruptive at all. Every employee we interacted with were all pleasant too. This is not a luxurious hotel. I have paid more for much worse on Michigan Ave. Also can't beat the location within reasonable walking distance to Shedds Aquarium and Fields Museum of Natural history. May look old and dumpy on the outside but don't be scared... Chances are you aren't coming to Chicago to stay in your hotel the whole time anyway. Enjoy

    We booked this hotel to stay downtown following an event at Soldier Field in July. The location of this hotel is fantastic! I think it might be the closest hotel to Soldier Field and the Field Museum. It is only about a 10 minute walk, mostly through the park. The lobby was undergoing extensive renovation but our room had already been updated. It was fairly nice; although, the door did let in quite a bit of light from the hallway. Traffic noise from outside was also a bit of an issue so bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper. I would stay here again if I was looking to be in downtown Chicago (for about half the price that most other hotels were charging in the area for that night).

    Stayed with my 2 teen daughters. We picked this hotel on location. It's literally rt across the street from museum campus. The hotel is under construction but it did not affect us much. Check in was hassle free. I didn't like they put a $50 deposit on my card that gets refunded in a few business days. Most hotels just keep your card on file. The room was clean and updated it seemed to be missing a few pieces like.. Headboards. The beds were comfy and we felt safe. The walls and doors are thin. I heard noises all night from the hallways . I was on the 8th floor and heard a lot of outside noises early in the morning. Overall it was decent for the price I would return.

    This is not the first time we have stayed in this property but were very disappointed to find it under construction when we arrived for this stay. If we had been notified when we made the reservation - 3 nights - we may have stayed elsewhere. The higher weekend prices did not reflect the inconvenience nor the 8 am start-up of the workers and, as usual, the hotel was fully booked. This Best Western, unlike most - including the New York City Best Westerns we have stayed in - does not offer a complimentary breakfast so we had to go out of the hotel and into the separate door - couldn't use the lobby doors as construction was happening - for the mediocre attached restaurant Mei's or look further afield - Yolks is close but impossible on a Saturday morning. There was a huge dumpster in front of the entrance to the hotel so parking was problematic. We had several problems with the hotel in this stay and the Manager reversed the valet charges ($52 a night) for which we thank him. There are other Best Western Hotels in Chicago that may have a more convenient location for us and offer similar amenities and rooms at the same price so we may not return to this one. Lovely hotel but our room was already showing signs of wear including a large cigarette burn on the bathroom vanity - a non-smoking room - despite having been just renovated.

    « A wonderful stay despite renovation »

    I was a little apprehensive about this hotel when I read through reviews that it was undergoing renovations. It wasn't on their main website or the booking site, so I was worried and disappointed. However, i did get an email the night before from the hotel telling me what was going on. THAT MADE ME FEEL MUCH BETTER from a customer service perspective. If I would have known before I may not have booked it in the first place, but it was too late. IT TURNED OUT TO BE A WONDERFUL STAY! I called the hotel to confirm my reservation the day before and they were able to put me on the highest floor. Agents on the phone were pleasant, and so was check in. Maintenance workers greeted me at the lobby door. They explained what was going on and yes - the lobby is under construction indeed! One (small) elevator was working. My room was quite and in good shape. I could tell it had been renovated. It was smaller than what I would have liked, and it didn't have a comfy chair I usually sit in to read :( The pillows were too soft for my taste. I would have also liked more electric outlets and a mirror at the workdesk. But I had nice views of the city and the lake. It's a 20 minute subway ride from Midway airport and a 3 block easy walk. when we came back to the hotel around 5 to relax it was quiet. Housekeeping kept the room clean and left us (2 guests) plenty of towels and toiletries. We asked for a fridge and they brought it up promptly. Free wifi worked well in my room. I was expecting a clean room, quiet at night to sleep, and no construction noise before 8:00 AND THATS EXACTLY WHAT I GOT. :) This hotel has a prime location for tourists. When renovations complete i think it'll be really nice (and probably a higher rate.) Lodging is expensive in Chicago, and people are surprised when they research. The cost of living is expensive overall, it's not a budget-friendly tourist destination. But I really enjoyed my stay here.

    For god's sakes Rahm, look at the state of this hotel! You enter in to through the dust-ridden plastic rotating door, where a single touch gives you the feeling of entering dust-hell, into the lobby that resembles the outside where there would be construction the street more than inside of a building with a roof over itself, the floors are pot-marked with black and blue, the rooms of filthy with mice running everywhere, the place looks like it was to resemble a dilapidated airplane from the 1960s with all this fake furniture and broken plastic everywhere. This is not a safe place. Do not go here. You will regret it. It goes without saying too that the service is horrible.

    Stayed here for two nights. We had a hole in our window , the lights above the bed did not work and asked four times for it to be fixed as only had one other working light. Were promised it would be fixed each time we asked and it never happened, The hotel is very tried and cleaning is of a minimal standard. Had two beds in our room and only one was up to a useable standard . Would not stay here again and would recommend others to book elsewhere.

    I had no idea that this hotel was COMPLETELY under construction. I looked at their website numerous times and the only thing I saw under construction was their swimming pool. There was no lobby in the hotel it was completely sectioned off with plastic sheeting and we had to leave the room to get away from the mind numbing sound of the jackhammering. We had reserved a room with 2 beds and a sofa bed when we arrived the front desk clerk said that they did not have that room available she said ?because those rooms are NOT guaranteed? but she could give me a room with 2 beds and a sofa but no sofa bed and offered us breakfast vouchers for 1 day of and 1 room of our 2 room 3 day stay. We took the room with the Sofa but no so sofa bed but the sofa was so old warn and disgusting we had to call down for extra sheets to cover it so we felt more comfortable sitting on it. The room she did give us was a handicapped room which we did not ask for or need and were not informed that it was a handicap accessible room. The shower curtain was too short and the shower curtain rod was curved but the curve extended out past the edge of the shower so when you would shower the floor would get soaked. There was NO PLACE to put your personal toiletries. The only space they had was the top of the toilet but they had things placed there.

    Large room with comfy bed and large bathroom with huge walk in shower. Great restaurant on site, bus stop to town center just across the road and subway is a short walk around the corner. Close to Trader Joe's and restaurants. Lovely view of park across the road from your room. Only complaints were that they were renovating at the time of our stay and did not inform us prior (noise, however was kept to a minimum and only occurred between 8am to 5pm) & one day we were left without toilet paper or tissues by housekeeping during our room servicing and we completely ran out.

    There is renovation going on in the lobby right now and I'm OK with that since this is improvement. They sent us to the 9th floor and it was all fine until we were woken up the next (and every morning) by a loud rotary hammer drill. It was so loud that we always had to leave the room. Luckily, Chicago has got many things for you to see but the noise was a major set back for us.

    This hotel is in renovation, no place to park, no place in the lobby, the rooms without refrigerator. Dirty small, noisy rooms, workers around the building. A once in my llife and will stop with being a member of the Best Western. Do not go there. The restaurant is running without a manager, the waitress has to do it all. Dust everywhere so please do not book if you want a nice and well maintained hotel. They did not wrote anything about the renovation on the website when i booked it.

    Do you want to visit a world-class city but still have the pleasure of feeling like you're in a 2nd world slum? If so, this is the place for you! We stayed here for 2 nights at $145 per night. For that price, we were able to enjoy luxuries like: Weird purple clumps under the furniture in our room Peeling, flaking paint chunks dangling above me in the shower Worn out carpet from 1250 AD Beat up tables and chairs Free admission to the museum of spiders on the outside of our window We paid an additional $52 per night to have our car parked in the indoor garage so it would be safe. You can't park it yourself, it has to be valet. The woman at the front desk assured us that it would be parked immediately. Almost an hour and a half later, I asked her why my car was still on the road. 20 minutes later, it was finally parked. They were doing renovation construction on the whole building, so the lobby looked like the set of a haunted house. The stairs were off limits and most of the carpet was torn up. All elevators but one were out of order. It's good that they're remodeling, because the look of the hotel really needs an update, but it felt like it shouldn't have been open during this chaos. It was like staying in an open, active construction zone. We stayed here in August 2016. Give this place several months to get renovated, then maybe it'll be okay. The one redeeming factor was that it was very conveniently located and close to all the major tourist attractions. Good trip, but bad hotel experience.

    They're under construction and that, in and of itself is necessary. I understand it has to be done. However, I feel as if it's right to INFORM the guest BEFORE you! My poor friend has four children and half of the reason for our stay was so she could sleep in with no kids. Yea, that didn't happen. They did give us free breakfast and a small discount when we complained.

    The worst hotel I have ever stayed and I rravel very often. I went there with my cousin for the weekend. The front desk guy asumed she was my life partner...really?!?! And if she was, it was not his problem. The hotel was having some construction, which was not a problem since they dont work on weekends. The room: dirty, smell like mold. It had even residues from previous guests. Only one plug to charge the phone in a corner. The shower was the big problem. The morning after check in, I opened the shower and the water and shower was so dirty (you can see it in the picture I just posted). For $467 a weekend I would have expected not luxury but at least a decent room. Will never return and will never recommend to anyone

    They are doing general cosmetic remodeling which will be great however I would recommend that they have a team of structural engineers inspect this building. The rate for our room that had no microwave or refrigerator was way too high to begin with. Add to that a sinking sidewalk near the foundation at the entrance, a very noticeable tilt to the room, jackhammering from 8 to 4, all the cosmetic remodeling limiting the useable space in the lobby and it sums up with "I will never stay there again" I must say that all the staff were very friendly and professional. The room was as clean as it could be with wear and need of general maintenance.

    Bed was very comfortable. View of park was beautiful from 1 window, had view of roof and air conditioning unit and pigeons from side window. Staff were very helpful. Cleaning staff were brilliant, the room was always spotless. A nice hotel, would like to revisit once all the renovations are finished as they spoiled an otherwise lovely stay. As the whole hotel was undergoing renovations, there was no proper reception area. Had problems talking to staff during check in there cus of the loud drilling. Only had use of 1 lift for first 3 days of stay due to new flooring being laid. Often had to wait over 10 minutes for a lift that wasnt full! Stairwells were out of action, again due to renovation work. There was no direct access to the onsite restaurant. And as there was no lounge area and the pool area was closed, the only place you could hang out was your room. The coffee maker was in the bathroom, which was the only place you could put it. The microwave and fridge were adequate. The air conditioner could do with up dating as it was very noisy. The room itself was noisy due to the thin windows and traffic noise outside (also there local were road closures during our stay so there was constantly a traffic jam outside) The room itself was smaller than it looked on the website, but there was enough space for everything. Windows need a good cleaning, or better still replacing with double glazing.

    From the moment you walk in to this place, there is construction noise and dirt, which means no lobby--and no pool! This should have been advertised because it makes the facility unusable for families with children. While the roo s have been renovatedand the bathrooms detailed, queen beds were swapped for smaller double beds and the bathtub looks old and dirty. Marginal for business traveler. Glad e are staying just one night

    The hotel was having a total makeover which no one told us about so there was dust all over the place. The elevators didn't work as expected and you couldn't get to the first floor by stairs because they were remodeling as I already said. No one apologized for this inconvenience. On the other side, the rooms were super clean and organized, cleaning personnel was very polite and careful with our belongings. The front desk was ok. There is a guy on the front desk that doesn't smile and is always in a bad mood which makes it really awful to ask him for help. The personnel overall was good, the experience was ok. I would come back but the only thing that really bother me was the fact that they were remodeling and nobody notifyed us until we got there. Parking costs 51$ they only have valet parking but they know other parking spots which the front desk personnel will guide you

    This hotel was extremely overpriced. It looked like a run down hotel from the 70's. It also was under renovation and the lobby was completely torn apart. It made me feel sorry for the employees. We checked out the next day even though we were supposed to stay a week. I spent until 2am trying to find another hotel to move to.

    Let's be honest, you probably stayed here or considering staying here because the rate is low relative to hotels in the area. As indicated in other reviews, it is a an old hotel and the interior is undergoing major renovations. The lobby truly is a construction zone. Our room was mid-way through renovation: bathroom was brand new, as was the wallpaper and bedding. Carpet and furniture were older. However, the room was clean and spotless. The location is fantastic if your goal is to visit the museums or Soldier Field; if you've researched you know this hotel is the closest. There is also a Metra station less than a block away.

    This facility is undergoing a much needed major renovation. The lobby and adjoining areas were completely torn up and made available for visitor use. The rooms are generally outdated with carpets that need cleaning.

    Hotel was undergoing major refurbishment of its foyer however this disruption did not excuse the apathetic customer service from staff on the front counter. The hotel lifts are slow and simply lack the capacity to transport the number of guests and the rooms are dated.

    We stayed here for one night before flying home..Hotel is under construction to revamp the lobby...but the entire hotel is a mess. Very old, worn carpet etc...On the plus side the beds are super comfy, which is really important. Close to Grant Park and other attractions. Area around hotel a little sketchy..One night was enough for me.

    We stayed here while in town to viisit friends and take in some Cubs games. Location can't be beat for sightseeng and tours. Parking is expensive, but that is to be expected in this City, especially in the downtown area. Staff here are excellent and the hotel is currently being dramatically remodeled. Suspect this may create a raise in rates down the road. However, unless it goes crazy, I will continue to use this for my stays.

    Their under construction so when you walk in you walk in a tight enclosed hall way to their front desk. There's no flooring or a lobby or anything. I wouldn't have stayed knowing their under construction. Also the hallways are creepy and not a very welcoming feeling... However the room is decent and comfortable. Wish I would have picked a different place... There's also a $50 deposit fee that I wasn't aware of....

    The hotel is under renovation and looks nothing like the pix. Very deceptive not to state this on the webpage. Very noisy (scary) A/C unit. Housekeeper short-sheeted the mattress pad - who wants to sleep on a hotel mattress with nothing between your face and the mattress but a thin sheet? I remade the whole bed. Ugh. No hand towels in bath, which was tiny. Can hear whole conversations through the bathroom vent. Other than the park across Michigan, the immediate area has a scary feel and there are few dining options within a short walk. I had no choice but to stay here ( hotel where my conference was was above per diem)...

    We arrived on Sunday July 15th staying just one night. The lobby is being renovated but everyone was very warm and welcoming and they quickly processed our reservation. We received a room on the 8th floor. It has been recently renovated and is very nice with fantastic views. The room was very clean and hotel offered free internet (which is a nice touch as most places charge at least $15 per day) and we had breakfast in the adjoining restaurant. The hotel is so close to everything downtown and is in a great location.

    This hotel is undergoing renovations and I would not stay here again until those are complete. The location was good - walking distance to Museums and CTA, but hotel was run down. We had to slam the room door to shut it, there was some peeling paint on walls and ceiling, some cracks around the door, and some mildew on exterior wall near A/C unit. I also would have liked it if the elevators restricted access to those with a key. I'm sure it will be much better after renovations.

    Walked into the lobby to find it covered with particle board and the hotel undergoing major renovation. The rooms were ok (not yet renovated) and the pool was closed for the season. Overall, the high point of the hotel was the location--easy walking to the Field Museum. We were on the street side of the hotel which meant we could see the Navy Pier fireworks from the room, but downside of this location was lots of Michigan Avenue road noise...all night long. Beds were old and not very comfortable. There was no refrigerator. Shower valve had to be repaired mid-stay. Double room was stocked with only 3 bath towels. Plaster dust on the floor was never vacuumed up during our 3 night stay. WiFi was unstable. The desk was helpful and the lock on the room door worked well. Overall, it was the cheapest (non-scary) option that allowed walking to the museums, but badly needs the in-progress renovation.

    Stayed during the Chicago taste fest 2016 although the lobby was being remodeled it was a pleasant hotel. We arrive late in the evening early morning no problem with check in at all. However we did call and inform we were arriving late. When when we arrived like I said the lobby was being remodeled we thought the we reserved a dump. Nope. Staff was pleasant check in a breeze. Rooms surprised us with the remodeling if the lobby and the not so up to date hallway decorating. Nice clean rooms air was to toooo cold and it was 85-93 degrees at the time. Beds were super comfortable!!!! Bathroom clean and neat. Housekeeping was nice enough to not knock on the door waking us to clean yet just noticed us leaving. Upon returns to the room it was clean. We stayed a door away from elevator and across the hall from soda machine (that was the only thing I complained about someone jamed tokens or some type of coins in it so it didn't work). All in all I had a great experience here. In walking distant of everything needed.

    stayed two nights may 2016 and was happy with our room and the hotels position in town' somewhat small bathroom but adequate.large bedroom clean comfy bed. a little noise but then again we are a sensitive to noise. \\renovations underway during our stay but caused no trouble.check in and out very fast. supermarket five minutes walk away selling all needs including alcohol. walking distance to central city.\\we would stay here again.

    Excellent location, Room is quiet and clean. However, all the hotel needs remodeling. The swimming pool was closed, bathroom was old. From our experience, service is poor. We asked for a face towel because ours were not changed, they say yes, but they did not changed them. Same thing for wake up call that they never made. Air condition is very loud and bed is not comfortable. Taking in account the high price of this hotel with no breakfast, we are sure that there are others hotels well located near the attractions for the same price or less. We do not recommend this hotel

    Where to start, noisy a/c; very poor sound insulation of windows (even outside voices could be heard), no front lobby (under construction), no pool or sun deck, $52 valet (car left on street for 4 hours before moved, no area to unload/load (unless you double park, front desk forgot BW Rewards number now I need to spend time requesting adjustment), room information says (safe in room) which wasn't. Definitely a poor choice.

    They are doing some remodeling but really need to do a total. This is a great location for soldier field and Grant park. L is right across the street and they have great Valet on 11th street. Just around the block there is a BQ place called Belly Up on Wabash. Awesome food, great price. This hotel is old and you have to consider that when booking but it is a great location with a great staff.

    If you are looking for just a room to stay near Grant park, this is the place. Don't expect more than that. Rooms were clean. And it is on Michigan avenue. No noise at night. That is it. When I about breakfast, I was told that each BW hotel is different, and they don't serve breakfast. I can eat at the restaurant outside. I didn't have that experience at other BW hotels I stayed earlier. But for that, not a bad place to stay over night/

    Excellent location. Room is quiet and clean. Cost is high for the room value. Parking is unreasonably high being adjacent to low cost parking facilities. Refrigerator and microwave are not available. The room lighting needs improvement. The air condition is very loud.

    « My stay at Best Western at Grant Park in Chicago »

    I booked a room easily on their website for a decent fee per night. I chose a room with a king bed. I chose this location due to its price and as it turned out its location. When I arrived, it was prior to check in time and I was hoping at minimum they'd hold my bag until 3pm. To my surprise, they checked my in and I was in my room by 12pm! The staff was efficient but I didn't get a friendly vibe. But that's ok, since this is the city of my birth and I don't expect everyone to be nice. The larger downside, is their current renovation. There isn't much of a lobby and it's quite dark, day or night. I got on the elevator, which was tight with just me, my 1 piece of carryon luggage and another person. My room was on the sixth floor and the first thing I thought about after getting off the elevator was that the hallway was also dark like the lobby. Then I saw the ice machine and I prayed my room wasn't next to it. I guess I said my prayer too late; because the room was sharing it's wall on the other side. I hoped that I'd wear myself out during the day not to notice it at night. The room was nice; what I expected. Bathroom is small, but I'm in a major city, so space is limited. The room has plenty of lighting though. The bed was medium soft and the pillows weren't my favorite. But since I was only staying three nights, I could deal. The a/c blew cold air but quite noisily. From time to time, housekeeping and other guests were just as loud, especially in the morning hours. My view was ok; could see the Museum Campus from the window. There is no microwave or fridge. And while they did advertise you could access their wifi with a particular code, I was not given mine. Everyday, the bed was made and a new floor mat for the bathroom was left. A problem I had and it's a smallish one: no water in the vending machines. I had to purchase water from the restaurant, that's normally attached but not currently due to the renovation. Speaking of favorite restaurants, this one is around the corner from my FAVORITE breakfast/lunch place --- Yolk!! So that made up for the lack of light, little lobby, no business center and detached restaurant. The best part of my stay was: NO ONE got ice at night.

    This is the closest hotel to the Shedd Aquarium, Field Museum, and Adler Planetarium. If you are traveling with kids and want to be close to these attractions, this is your place. But, you should know the hotel is under construction. The pool is closed until 2017. The staff is great, friendly. There are normally plenty of cabs and you are close to the Roosevelt train station. There is also a Trader Joes a block away. The walls are thin, you will hear what is going on in the rooms around you. All this said, I would stay again and I look forward to this hotel once the current construction is complete. If your Room doesn't have a fridge just call the front desk and they will deliver it.

    I was very disappointed in my stay at this hotel. The building is so old and not well kept. It's currently under construction and can hardly operate during this time. The $52.00 valet service is a joke. Took almost 45 minutes to get my car in the am, while no one else was waiting. The elevators are scary. I would never go back to this hotel. Waste of money.

    Rooms dated with fixtures that were shoddy in the bathroom. Noisy and cramped. No queen bed options. Coffee was awful. NO BUGS! We checked. Front desk was wonderful. We visited during a renovation and it was awful. Should have been told this before hand.

    We were on the start of Route 66, this was our first stop. Foyer undergoing lots of renovation but didn't interrupt our stay. Great rooms, nice and clean, lovely comfortable beds, no breakfast but yolk next door. Walking distance of route 66 start sign but we did get a taxi to magnificent mile. Would def stay here again

    The staff was amazing and I felt at home and welcome. Everyone learned my name even. Great experience. I moved hotels from a much more expensive location because I was dissatisfied with the other hotel's room. Even though the lobby was under construction, my room and the staff were exceptional. Would definitely book here my next trip to Chicago!

    We booked this hotel for one night because of its proximity to Soldier Field, so we could walk to a Copa America game. We used Southwest Rapid Rewards points to book (this comes into play in a minute). When we arrived, there was a HUGE line. We waited in a tiny hallway (about two feet) due to construction - clapboard and exposed lighting everywhere. It was so bad, I contacted southwest that day to explain about the construction as it was NOWHERE on the hotel's website. The room was clean, so we stayed since we had to get to the game. Fast forward 16 days and I notice a charge on my credit card from Best Western Chicago. I contact my card services, explain that I booked with points but put the card down for incidentals and was confused as to why I would be charged $210.15. They were unable to reach the hotel, so they suggested I dispute the charge. I did so. The next day, I talked to a wonderful man from Chase. I explained the situation, that I had booked with points and then got a charge from the hotel 16 days after my stay. We conference called the hotel and spoke with one of the staff, Chastity. My representative from Chase explained the situation, and she said she had me down as a no-show so we were charged. I began to laugh and described our wait and the hotel and then mused that since I booked with points, obviously I showed up because they had my credit card number. She put us on hold and my representative called another number for the hotel. Who also put us on hold. Chastity came back finally and said she couldn't do anything because we had "no-showed" and transferred us to her boss, where it immediately went to voicemail. At this point my Chase representative had had enough, as it was obvious I had been there and the charge should not have occurred. He said he was going to credit me and that if they disputed the credit back he would be in touch, but that he didn't think I would need to. Overall, the hotel is in desperate need of the construction they have not advertised about and in need of an attitude adjustment.

    Upon arrival we were met by alot of chipboard as construction is in full swing, this being an older hotel I'm sure needed a major renovation to the lobby. Check-in was fairly painful with a minor wait, The room was standard with 2 double beds, TV, desk, coffee maker, free wi-fi. The room was very clean and the staff friendly. Good value for the money spent. There is valet parking but is very expensive $52.00 per night with as many in-ot privilages.The location is very close to Michigan Ave. and handy to the public transit system. If you plan on staying and going to use public transit I would suggest the day pass for $10.00. There are a few diners in the area, I would suggest going to Eleven City Diner you will not be disappointed, it is located behind the hotel on Wabash.

    This hotel needs a total make over.The lobby is under construction.They don't tell you this when you book it.No amenities,restaurant,or gym.The ice maker didn't work.The beds are very lop sided.the ceiling needed repair but it was a clean room.

    Clean, comfortable rooms. Friendly, helpful staff. Hotel under construction was a bit inconvenient and no free breakfast as advertised. The location was good for the price. Next time I would rather be a bit further north to be closer to Millenium Park and other attractions. Easy walk to park across the street near lake.

    under remodel and did not have all the accomodations we booked, allowed previous night guest to stay which left us without the room we booked way in advance. Dumbed us in another room which was terrible. Small terrible place. No breakfast offered no pool.

    « MASSIVE CONSTRUCTION: Windows boarded up & pool closed in July 2016 »

    Rooms are typical of a value chain like Best Western. Small beds but pretty comfy. Clean. Very basic amenities. Excellent location and a great value for being right in the city HOWEVER the entire place is under construction right now which means there is noise, debris, and the place looks like a dump. The front entrance (which has boarded up windows) funnels into a tiny plywood tunnel leading towards the front desk. There is noise from 8am-5pm, the elevator is slow, the halls have junk in them, and THE POOL AND ENTIRE SKY DECK AREA ARE CLOSED. I was not told about any of these inconveniences when I booked my reservation. If I had known I would have gone somewhere else. The hotel will be great once everything is cleaned up but I really wish I would have known beforehand.

    As all the other reviews state: under construction and priced accordingly. The beds, carpet and bathroom were good, clean. Ugly on the outside and the lobby was all boarded up - no big deal for us. The elevator was dated and the hall was lit like a prison - ok. What I was most disappointed with was that the chairs and couch in the room were old, stained and gross. I don't get it. This stuff is not expensive compared to the revenue. Only recommended if being in the area at this price is highly important. Also Yolk next door has great breakfast.

    Overall a GREAT value for the location and what you get. 2 couples with 2 rooms for 2 nights. AC was great on 90F days, everything about the room was pleasant and nice. Free WiFi was nice, no aggressive bellhops, pleasant and helpful front staff. Tried to stay here again 5 days later and it was understandably full. Nice views from our room of the Field museum and Shedd aquarium. PARKING was $30 a day at the condo nearby and was secure and great. Negatives: I wish it had a refrigerator. One room didn't have a working safe, custodian came and changed battery (safe failed again the next day).

    Booking was easy, good price. Email reminders with links to surrounds activities, they were great. The Hotel, We didn't know it was under construction, pool closed, lobby closed, parking 2 blocks away. these things were painful!! Called the front desk two times to have blankets and towels brought to the room...they weren't delivered. getting past all that the room was small but clean. Bed was comfortable, good water pressure in the shower.

    « Construction noise - impossible to sleep! »

    When approaching the building, I felt one of those moments, you know - when the coach pulls up and you hope its not your hotel... But it was. Externally, the appearance of the building needs some improvement, the cement is blackened with dirt, the windows need a good scrub & the signage looks like it has been there since the 80's. Upon arrival in reception, we were greeted by lovely chip board, boarding up most of the reception area, but leaving just enough room to stand at the reception desk and get into a lift. The room itself wasn't as bad as expected considering the level of expectation i had based on the aforementioned observations. It was an average size with 2 double beds and a flat screen tv. The bathroom is small but has everything you need in. The bath however did not drain properly, when having a shower it fills up quickly and took around 10 minutes to drain after turning the shower off. Half of the power sockets did not work. For the sake of a 2 night stay, all of these issues I can forgive IF you can get a good night sleep, which was impossible. The workmen working on the reception area work till around 2 am (ish), so when your trying to get to sleep, all you can hear (even on the 8th floor) is drilling and general construction noise. I'll leave you to guess what my recommendation would be for a stay here......

    The overall stay with them was great. The room was clean, the staff was nice. The only things that were a problem during our visit was that the lobby was under construction so it was cramped at times and noisy and the TV in our room was kind of flakey. Other than that our stay was great.

    We stayed here on June 7th to attend the US Men's Soccer Team match at Soldier Field. We choose this place based on location and knew that it wasn't a high level hotel, but was supposed to be a solid place to stay for a night. However, there were issues that I will describe below. #1. The lobby and perhaps other areas are going through a remodel so there is no space in the lobby... it's boarded up. Not a huge deal because we were only there a night, but check-in was painfully slow because they will not start the process a moment before 3pm. So, there was a line going out the door waiting to check-in. #2. There is no parking. they have a 80ft area outside, but cars are almost always parked along there or taxis take up the space, so near 3pm expect to circle the area for awhile before you have enough room to pull up to the curb. #3. Parking is valet only and $50+. The thing they don't tell you and we didn't find out until the following morning when we waited to get our car was they don't even park on property but instead they lease space blocks away. Also, they will not be reliable for damage their driver or to your vehicle en route to the other place or back. They damaged our car and marked a ticket showing the damage was already there. They did this after they damaged the car... there was no inspection with us marking the ticket before they took possession of the car. So, they will damage your car and then mark it off saying it was existing and stick you with the damage. #4. The management is clueless. The manager working when this occurred, Octavio, came out to view the damage and said he agreed that the damage looked new. He was the person who disclosed that the car wasn't even parked on their property and why it took 20 min for them to bring my car to the entrance. He also gave the impression that their insurance company would take care of the damage and that they would call me that day. Nobody called... I called and got no return call. So, I emailed them and shared the details with the another Manager, Mauricio, and sent him a picture. He said he would talk to his staff and let me know. After almost a week I had to reach back out to see where things were at. Mauricio simply said he spoke to his staff and didn't believe the damage was their responsibility. He admitted they should have gone over the car with me prior, so they failed. He admitted they should disclose the car is leaving property and they didnt... so failed again. He said he believed his staff, but wouldn't call me a liar... just that he wouldn't take responsibility nor liability for the damage. Do not stay here. The location is good for the parks and Soldier Field. The place is decent though not high-level or elite by any means... but room is solid. The problem is they will gladly take your money and not disclose they won't cover damages and that they park your car blocks away... you are playing Russian Roulette when you give them your property. Mauricio didn't care... said he hoped he would earn my future business, but was going to disappoint me and blew off my claim. Don't let this happen to you. Pay more and stay down the street... saving a few dollars will cost you in the long run if you trust them with your property. The customer service and satisfaction is not a priority here. You have been warned, but I am sure Mauricio will reply to this trying to downplay everything I described in this review. I should give this place 1 star, but since the location is good and room was ok they get 2.

    « Absolutely fine for what you pay »

    This is not an expensive hotel by Chicago standards, so do not expect 5 star luxury. However, it was perfectly adequate for our visit to the City. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. It is all looking very tired but they are in the middle of a renovation project, so I would expect things to improve when this is finished. It is noisy as the windows are not particularly double glazed and there is a lot of traffic noise. That said, it is in an ideal position for visiting the City - very close to the train line which is excellent. You can walk over to the lake shore easily and Grant Park opposite the hotel is lovely. It was easy to walk everywhere. The staff were helpful and friendly and we had a good stay here.

    « Ideal Location for a Good Price »

    Was in Chicago for a conference at the McMormick Center. This hotel was a about a mile walk from the McCormick straight down s. Michigan Ave. It's also right across the street from Millennium Park with lots of great places to walk to. The hotel is undergoing a pretty extensive renovation right now, so it's looking like a construction zone. The room I had was quite nice and comfortable. For the price in Chicago, this is a good place to stay and should get even better when all the work is done.

    This Best Western is in a great location and definitely a bargain compared to the other hotels in the area. The lobby is under construction which makes checking in and out a little crazy. There is no breakfast either which is a staple for every Best Western I've been to. Not sure if this will change once the lobby is up and running. The restaurant attached to the hotel does have great food! It is also two blocks from one of the stops for the hop on hop off bus. Also very easy to walk to just about everything.

    Rooms that have been updated are fine although bathrooms are mediocre. Floors that have not been renovated are depressing and make you feel like youre staying at a true "fleabag". Left after the first night in spite of having a 4 night reservation. All in all just a depressing and ridiculously overpriced place

    Terrible. There were holes and stains on the lampshades, curtains and window shades. The window AC unit blew air on the disgustingly dirty curtains overnight, which propelled a dozen dead insects onto one of the beds. Check-in and check-out were extremely inefficient. Management should not make this room available for renters at any price, let alone the $300+ that I paid over Memorial Day weekend. I doubt that I will ever stay at a Best Western again. Staffers - you are remarkably resilient and positive, despite the terrible environment.

    In town for a conference at another hotel a couple of blocks away. It was great to be able to walk in Grant Park during the mornings before the conference. This hotel is close to many museums, restaurants and attractions, the walk to Navy Pier is a bit of a hike, but still nice. The rooms have been updated, with very nice bathrooms and have plenty of light. The bed was comfortable. Noise was not bad considering you're in the middle of the city. (some train noise) They are currently remodeling the public areas, I expect the hotel will cost more next time I'm in town.

    For our anniversary this year my husband and I decided to "escape" to Chicago for the weekend. We wanted something in the heart of things and unfortunately in Chicago that means paying a pretty penny. While this Best Western wasn't low cost, it was much less than the other options on Michigan Avenue and it was ideal for those willing to walk a little bit to find great food and attractions in Chicago. The hotel was under construction when we got there with boards on walls in the lobby area. The pool was also still covered so we couldn't use the pool. The front desk staff were nice. We arrived early and they stored our bags for us until our room was ready. The hotel was attached to a restaurant and the lady working the coffee bar was very friendly and helpful too. We came back a few hours later and easily finished our check in and got our bags. The elevator wasn't too small and ran quickly enough. Our room's view was sort of boring, looked over the covered pool and a little park area a few people were walking their dogs in. The bed and bathroom were clean but there was a lot of white (maybe from construction?) dust along the floor boards in the room. There was a tv (no HBO :( ) and a dresser of drawers, couch and table area too. It was a decently sized room. The wifi was free and while not super speedy, it was fast enough. Water pressure in the shower was good and the water got warm fast and stayed warm. The biggest plus to this hotel was the location, near the Field Museum and a short walk to Millineum Park and tons of great restaurants along Michigan. We walked to the Art Institute and could have walked a bit farther to get to Navy Pier. We were thrilled to have a place we could take the L (subway) to and spend a lovely weekend in Chicago without a car or needing a taxi. Check out was a cinch and overall we had a fair stay in this hotel and would look to return, especially once the renovations are done and the pool is open again.

    We had a two-night stay here. The hotel is convenient to many attractions in downtown Chicago. Lobby is under renovation, but we weren't in our room during the day, so it didn't bother us. The halls are dated, but the room was clean. There's an adjoining restaurant for coffee. The price was right for this expensive city, and the best thing was the incredibly friendly staff. Seriously, I'm not sure we've encountered such universal hospitality before.

    As you enter the building, there is a strong smell of wood, due to the ongoing renovation, and we were concerned that this would be a problem - it was not, in fact there was only one very slight problem with our stay. Having come into Chicago by train were at the hotel by 10:30am, way before check in, so went to ask if we could leave bags and go out, but as it happened, our room was ready, and what a great room it was, on a corner, do dual aspect windows, bright, clean and attractive, and larger than expected. The hotel is in a nice location, close enough to downtown to walk to it through the park, On the route of a lot of the hop on hop off bus tours, 5 minutes walk from Roosevelt "L" station. And far enough out of town to not have the soundtrack of police sirens and car horns that pervades most American city centres. Our room had obviously only recently been refurbished, and they seemed not to have added a shelf in the shower for putting wash products on, this was the only issue at all with our stay, and we look forward to revisiting when the renovations to the lobby are complete.

    This property is in a great location across the street from Grant Park and near many restaurants, museums and other city life. The property is currently under some pretty heavy renovation, the lobby is currently nothing but plywood except for the front desk. I also was on a floor that had not yet been touched. I'm sure this is going to be a wonderful place when completed. Until then, you may want to make sure you are in a renovated room.

    You have to take into account that this hotel was being renovated while we stayed there (beginning of May 2016). That meant the lobby area was boarded up and there were workers 'at it' (making noise) between 8 AM and 5 PM. No problem when you are exploring the city and don't want to sleep in anyway. We stayed in a renovated room on one of the higher level floors. The room had a nice view, we could even see part of Lake Michigan. But the room had some moisture problems, condensation on the inside. The windows and venting is not optimal. The hotel should look at that. The outside also needs some TLC. But the location cannot be beat. We would come and stay here again and are curious to how beautiful it will become. Interestingly enough there is no mention at all of the hotel name or address on the invoice we got with our payment on it. Just our address, arrival and departure date, invoice number, date, printed by, room type, meal plan, taxes etc. but not the name and address of the hotel itself. Isn't that weird? This bill might be a collectors item.

    Despite the fact that most of the employees were very helpful and the location is great, this hotel is a pass on every other level. The entire front desk area is under construction and pretty dank. Our room has not been updated since the turn of the century (probably before that). When I turned on the room air conditioner, it blew dirt, yes dirt, out and housekeeping had to change the bedding. Housekeeping responded within 5 minutes. She was lovely. The drapery is old and dirty, the mattress old. The room smelled musty. To add to all that, the amount quoted for the room was up charged by about $50. I cannot recommend.

    Chances are you're looking for an economical place to stay in Chicago, and Best Western Grant Park has come up early in your search as it did mine. The location is terrific, with a beautiful park across the street, Roosevelt station and a Trader Joe's within easy walking distance, and excellent restaurants near by. But the place is under construction, the walls are thin enough to hear the TV next in the next room, for some reason on one of the nights I was there the hotel chose to use a massive noisy rug cleaning machine just outside my bedroom door (rm 620) at 10:30 at night, the fan in the bathroom didn't work so the entire room smelled musty, and there were no outlets near the bed which made phone charging inconvenient. I've uploaded some photos so you can see the raw wiring in our room, but you can't see the filthy windows or smell the must. I will say that our beds were made up nicely each day, but the registration desk staff was inexperienced and not that interested in making customers feel welcome or cared for. One morning the elevator was out of order. I guess you get what you pay for.

    Though they were under construction during my stay, the room itself was very nice. The attached restaurant offered quick take-out breakfast muffins, etc. The location across from Grant Park was very convenient and offered a beautiful view. The staff were very friendly, caring and helpful. They commiserated when I did not get to do a night bus tour as it did not show up. A staff member took the time to direct me to a nearby restaurant still open so that I could enjoy a late dinner. I really felt they CARED. The room was nice but lacked a refrigerator and microwave and the TV remote needed new batteries.

    Am not sure if the renovation work made the front desk staff cranky, but they weren't the friendly staff like at other BW's we stay at. No acknowledgement that we are Diamond members. All questions we had were answered like we were a bother. The big exception we're all of the door men we talked to over a three day period. They were all very friendly, welcoming and very helpful - great recommendations, too. Rooms are fairly quiet for downtown location. Was disappointed with extremely uncomfortable pillows. No blanket in room (comforters too hot for us), but very quickly supplied one.

    The hotel is in an excellent location to get to attractions, restaurants, and both subway and bus stops, and there is a great breakfast place (Yolks) right around the corner. However, the room windows weren't clean, and there was nothing healthy in the snack machines (can be useful if you get in after the food places close). Staff is friendly and helpful.

    Stayed here for one night during the week.5/11/16. Booked a room with double beds. At check in-personnel upgraded me to a King size room--Bonus!. room in the West wing on 6th floor. No mini fridge. Only 2 very slow elevators working. Construction at check in on many floors. Street noise very noticeable in the rooms (other guest also, complained on this. Rooms are small but adequate. Hallway carpets are quite dated. PARKING---- I already knew by reading other Tripadvisor postings that there was no parking right at hotel. BUT, just finding a spot to pull in was a real pain. around the block 3 times and was going to park in a nearby lot (but it was posted to be closed for 4 days starting at midnight that night--read all signs). Finally got a spot next to hotel to go in and check in. $36 for a no in/out privileged--$52 for valet. Need to call 20-25 minutes ahead of needed time, to front desk,to get car back to you. Not all floors had coke machines. I tried to walk to first floor via the stairs but due to construction had to stop on 2nd floor and take elevator down--Fire code violation?? Didn't try the coffee shop next to hotel. Walking time to Tavern on the Park is about 23 minutes. Great location for visiting Millennium Park. Staying on business--cost was almost $290 w/tax for the double room.

    Building is undergoing renovation so lobby was a mess. The room itself had been newly redecorated so it was very nice. It was clean & the bed was comfortable. The room doors slam shut which is very annoying esp when you are trying to sleep. Desk staff & doorman were very nice. Location is good if visiting the museum campus. Public valet parking is 1 block away & was reasonable for Chicago rates. Cost of room was also reasonable. Once the construction is done it should be very nice. I would stay there again.

    Staff were friendly, attentive, and quick to help. The cleanliness of the hotel was great. There was construction in the lobby but that doesn't affect the rating and shouldn't because it is only making the experience on the next visit better. The reason that the value gets a low rating is because for what we paid for I think that $52/day for parking is a bit much.

    My son and I stayed here this past weekend. The staff was wonderful and the beds and pillows were amazing. Our room was updated. They are going through remodeling which has left the lobby in shambles. This didn't interfere with our stay at all. Hallways looked quite outdated and smelled smoky but I think the renovations will take care of that.

    We stayed at the Best Western Grant Park for a special event in the city. It was just a few blocks from Grant Park and many great restaurants. The hotel was under refurbishment, but it wasn't an issue for our stay. The room was pleasant and had a great view. One thing to note is that valet parking is $52, but it's free in and out service. The staff was great and it was a nice stay for us.

    This hotel is actually located on 11th Street and not on Michigan Ave, so when you go to check in, don't go to the wrong parking ramp! The valet parking for this hotel is a yellow line in front of the hotel on 11th Street, if there is space available. Letting people know that the hotel is currently under major renovations would be nice. Offering to help people that go to the wrong parking ramp because you fail to tell them to go to 11th street when they call in advance would be nice. When a person asks for accommodations when making a reservation a week in advance, it would be nice if the accommodation would be met or contact the person and let them know that the accommodation cannot be made. We asked for a soft chair with arms or recliner because my husband had shoulder surgery, and we got an office chair. Furthermore, with the lobby under construction, there were no other places that my husband could go and relax.

    We were in town during the NFL Draft at Grant Park. The hotel was within 2 blocks of the entrance to the park. Very safe and clean. Overall, great experience. Rooms are small, but clean and well kept. There is construction in the lobby and entry area, so it is small, but service was great.

    The staff here were extremely helpful. Our room was comfortable and clean. Beds were cozy, and we were able to turn up the heat (it was unseasonably cool). My young son and I appreciated the closeness of the museum campus. We also enjoyed a delicious breakfast at the restaurant (Mei's Kitchen). We had a great stay. Thanks to the front desk and concierge staff.

    « My stay at the Best Western Grant Park Work in Progress »

    Upon arrival of what looked like a haunted house gone rental property. We realized they did not have parking for hotel which was never mentioned when reserving the room months in advance. They recommend a garage close by for $50 dollars a day I'll pass. We had to park 10 minutes away in a different garage for $25 a day. Once we walk bags through the streets arrive at hotel to find out they don't take cash and have no idea where a 5/3rd is didn't even ask if they could call us a cab. During all this we notice they happen to be renovating the whole lobby and some floors an advance notice of that would've been nice. Once in the room we noticed the beds had no headboards and shower was missing a drain cover. Will not be staying next time.

    While I was a bit disconcerted to discover the hotel is currently undergoing extensive renovation, this still wound up being a most pleasant stay. While a bit rough around the edges, the hotel is clean, comfortable and relatively quiet. The staff could not have been better! They were helpful, personable and went out of their way to make our stay an enjoyable one.

    Since our flight arrived late in the evening, and we had an early morning the next day, we didn't get to spend a full day (or night) at this Best Western. But the price was right, parking was nearby ($25) and it wasn't far from our final destination. Check-in, even at midnight, was a breeze. The young lady on the desk had been anticipating our arrival and made sure we were checked in promptly. The room she gave us had a spectacular view of the park and the Field Museum. The front desk clerk (Halle?) gave us some helpful suggestions for dining at such a late hour. She made our late arrival so much more pleasant. My only quibbles are that one of the elevators smelled of urine and all construction areas are not clearly marked-- I accidentally entered one when I stepped off the elevator on the seventh floor, looking for a vending machine. But other than those two things, it was a nice, if short, stay. If you're on a budget, but want access to downtown Chicago, I'd recommend this hotel.

    This hotel looks pretty drab from the outside, and the lobby was torn up with construction. The room was quite nice, though, with a good mattress and great showerhead/water pressure. Walls are thin, so hope that you have quiet neighbors.

    The hotel is under construction and the current front desk décor is plywood. The front desk staff was wonderful - very nice, efficient, and welcoming. They are very excited about the renovation project and said it should be completed by fall. Our room was on the fifth floor, which I do not think has been renovated. The hall is kind of dark and seemed dingy. Our room was OK - clean but rather dated. The bed was comfortable and clean. The hotel is reasonably priced. It attracts a younger crowd (at least during our stay), which was OK with us. Only complaint was the 2:30 a.m. jolt from a deep sleep courtesy of the people next door returning to their room feeling quite jolly (and loud ). Overall, we enjoyed our stay (except for the boom-box party next door at 2:30 a.m.). We don't spend a long time in a hotel room when we visit a city, so this hotel for the price met our needs. Would stay there again.

    Its a great location. Right across from the park. Running/walking/biking right across the street. there was no need to drive anywhere, everything you'll need is within walking distance. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The restaurant downstairs, Mei's Kitchen, was really good and convenient. Get a window seat and you might get to see some LARP action in the park. :D The hotel seemed like it had some construction going on, but I was up an out of there by 7am every day and wasn't back until after 3. I didn't see or hear any of it going on. The rooms were a little small and there was no microwave or fridge in the room. But the beds and pillows are 2nd only to my home. :D All in all it was a great stay and I'd recommend it if you have some business in the area.

But....I know it's not the hotels fault that they are being renovated but drilling at 8am directly above your bed is not cool. There was no mention of it when we booked either.

    Don't go anywhere near this place until they have finished the construction/renovation. Its dirty and has structural issues (e.g. room 409, where a ball would have rolled downhill due to the warped structure. How they can rent this room, let alone place the bed so that it is totally apparent that the foot of the bed is way higher than the head of the bed is mind boggling). They got away with charging top dollar for a sub par property due to location and the fact that they negotiated the rates as part of the conference I was attending. Had I known what I was getting for the $$, I would have gladly paid another 30 dollars a night and stayed at the Hilton two blocks away.

    Blood on my sheets. Fix the wall lamp in room 925. Move the bed over. As I walked past the bed, on my way from the door to the far side of the room I routinely clipped the bed frame. It almost tripped me a couple times. The frame was covered by the bed covers. Don't have a sign that reads from 8 to 5 when construction noise was constant and MARK THE ZONE WITH SIGNS THAT TELLS ME WHERE TO PARK IF I AM USING VALET SERVICE

    The hotel is currently under renovation so if you plan to stay there in the next few months, don't count on sleeping in as construction starts at 8. Hotel is located across from Grant Park, near Soldier Field and walking distance from the "Magnificent Mile". Parking is pricey at $52 (US) for the valet service. You can self park a block and a half away on 11th ($25/24 hours). This is also one of the few Best Westerns that doesn't include a free breakfast. If you want a downtown hotel at a reasonable price, this one fits the bill.

    I really enjoyed my stay at the Best Western on Grant Park. The hotel was under construction during my visit but that was very easy to overlook with the friendly staff and updates being done to the rooms. The bed was super comfy and the completely updated bathroom was a plus. The hotel was in easy walking distance to the Shedd Aquarium. The only downfall is the hotel does not have a parking lot, but I guess that is alot of places in Chicago. We used an app called spothero and was able to secure a parking spot for two days close to the hotel location. I would definitely stay here again.

    The staff were nice, the rooms were clean, though walls were a bit thin., the location was perfect as my friends and I were participating in the Shamrock Shuffle which began and ended at Grant Park, The only problem we had was that the hotel had these large groups of international tourists which all checked out at the same time. The remodeling of the lobby made the lobby space extremely limited and having a group of 50 people meant my friends and I had to practically crawl over them all to get both checked in and out ( yes another large group checking out the next day as we were checking out) This also caused overcrowding on the elevators of which there were only two. I finally gave up and took the stairs as I only had a small carry on bag. Overall,this hotel was a little cheaper than the Palmer House where we stayed for the Hot Chocolate run a few months earlier, but not sure I would return unless I knew the full lobby was opened back up.

    This hotel had friendly staff, clean rooms, comfy beds, free wifi,and a great location. They were a little outdated in decor but I can overlook that for comfy beds, hot water, and free wifi, all of which were present. There was a water leak on our floor but they quickly had its dried and restored water to the place. We didn't even notice any inconvenience . They also were in the midst of updating rooms. Our bathroom you could tell had been redone and the beds were great. Just needed to finish halls and room decor to bring it up to standard. But those are minor things that factor into my stays.

    Stayed here this past week; while construction is on-going on the upper floors, noise in the early morning hours was inexcusable...their own signs said work would start at 8am, however, we were awoken by banging around 7am on two mornings. Complaints to the front desk were promptly answered AND we were given a 50% discount on the room for those two nights - THANK YOU! Hotel is very clean and nicely situated on Michigan Ave - we'd stay again if it wasn't for the remodeling.

    One positive...staff on reception very friendly and helpful. Major renovation works being done to improve the reception and looks dreadful. Tried to use the stairs and could not get into reception as they had locked the door! Told the staff my concerns if there was a fire, still didn't sort this. Whole hotel is dated, run down and in need of a major facelift. Area is good, opposite Grant park and near the museums. The restaurant next to the hotel does great food for breakfast at food prices, but this hotel is not of the usual Best Western standard by any level

    Great view beautiful, clean and well appointed. I accompanied my husband on a business trip and found this to be a very relaxing place to stay in the south loop. Conveniently located along Michigan drive, we were close to shopping, restaurants and of course the beautiful parks, Shedd Aquarium, etc. I would definitely stay here again!

    The rate and location made this the perfect place for us to stay. We have three small kids. It is within walking distance to Shedd Aquarium, Field Museum, Millennium and Maggie Daly Parks. The room and bathroom were nice and clean. All of the staff that we dealt with were professional and very helpful. The day that we checked out, we were still going to be in town sight seeing and they kept our luggage until we were ready to go. It allowed us to enjoy the rest of our trip. I am already recommending this hotel to others. They are in the process of renovating the front desk area, but you really couldn't tell as they kept everything clean and blocked off from the customers. They don't serve breakfast, but there is a nice restaurant connected to the hotel that serves a wide selection of good meals.

    My fiancee and I stayed at the Best Western Grant Park for one night. I ran the Chicago Quarter Marathon and went to the Art Institute for the Van Gogh exhibit. The hotel is in a convenient location halfway between the Art Institute and Soldier Field, where the race starts and ends. The $128 for a standard king room seemed like a good rate, so I went for it. The front desk area was under construction, but the area was still clean. The front desk employees were also very helpful. The room was recently updated and has a fresh, modern look. The bathroom is small, but nice and the rest of the room is a good size. The bed was comfortable and the room was very clean. I couldn't find CBS on the TV, but there are plenty of channel choices and I liked having a flat screen TV. I wish there was a small mini fridge and microwave in the room, but I understand adding those to all rooms increases the price. Overall, I enjoyed our stay and would consider staying at the Best Western Grant Park again.

    Excellent location in the South Loop with lots of great attractions and restaurants within walking distance! The renovated bathroom was pretty but the construction noise and the plywood and construction stuff in and around the hotel detracts from the overall experience. When the renovation is finished, it will be a good place to stay that is central to many things that Chicago has to offer.

    Good place to stay, very close to the museum campus, a short walk away. Helpful staff. Step over to Michigan Ave. and grab a taxi, or pick up the bus north or south to the other downtown attractions. We did not use parking because we took the train to Chicago. They're working on the lobby, but it didn't affect our stay. They set up a frig in our room so we walked to the Trader Joe's in the same block and bought food for breakfast, saving a little money.

    The staff was very friendly and always willing to help with whatever was needed. They were very helpful and did a great job of explaining the bus routes we needed to take to get where we wanted. The hotel was in a walking distance to many of the places we wanted to visit! Having a restaurant right there was also a plus. The hotel is currently under construction which the staff was very apologetic for. There was some noise due to the construction and limited space, but overall the great service was made it worthwhile.

    Stayed there while visiting Columbia university. I was just looking for a safe place near the college so i didn't have any major expectations. The building could use some renovations (which they are doing) and is conveniently located in a very nice area close to museums, restaurants, parks,etc. They dont offer breakfast but there is a restaurant within the premises that offers it. I did not go there, but next door to Yolk as well as the nearby Starbucks. Upon arrival i was informed that the lobby was being renovated and that there would be noise downstairs during business hours. Check in was a pleasure and the staff were very courteous and professional. My reservation indicated just one bed and they were happy to switch me to a room with two beds since i was traveling with my son. When they noticed that we were staying for more than a couple of nights, they offered to provide us with a fridge at no cost, which i thought was a very thoughtful gesture. The next morning i was awaken by noise in the upper floor above our room, and when i asked downstairs they told me that the carpeting in the room above was being replaced. They promptly switched us to another room. The rooms are very basic but well cleaned and comfortable. I would say their biggest asset is the location and their staff who were always polite and willing to assist. Overall the service that they provided was amazing. I would definitely stay there again and recommend it to others visiting the city.

    When we had looked at the reviews of this Best Western online, we were a little wary because they were not receiving good reviews. The only issue that we had was that our room was not ready when we had arrived but they quickly got it together for us. During our stay, they had informed us that there was a water main break on the upper floors and that there would be construction going on within the lobby and mentioned there might be a bit of loud noises. We were on the fourth floor and we heard absolutely nothing from inside our room or the hallway. The staff members went above and beyond what we ever expected. They were very courteous and very helpful for our entire stay. I would recommend this hotel to any of my family and friends.

    This hotel is wonderfully close to the museum complex and the parks, and there's a great breakfast restaurant right around the corner (Yolk). They are currently renovating the lobby area so there is some noise and disruption of service. There was no hot water available in the morning for showers. The staff did the best they could to take care of us, despite the fact that their work space is significantly impacted. Cindy was especially amazing. A very bright spot of service - my car was dead when the valet went to get it, so he jumped it for me and got me on my way. Really excellent service. Hotel accommodations were average.

I find all the staff to be most helpful. The hotel is in a perfect location to museum and city attractions. A bus runs out front and the L train is a block away. Many eating establishments are close by.

    This hotel is in the perfect location for a family vacation. Walking distance to four museums, across the street from Grant Park, 3 blks from Red/Green/Orange L lines. 1 Red line stop from Chinatown. If you fly in to Midway, the Orange line brings you straight here. There are 2 groceries and several restaurants & coffee shops within 3 blocks. The staff, especially Tracy and Christopher on the front desk, have been absolutely great. Friendly, welcoming and helpful. The other staff has also been nice and helpful. I give staff and location 5 stars. The wi-fi has been reliable and the cable TV has all the channels we want. So is there anything we did not love? Well the hotel is clean but aging (they are currently upgrading). It looks a little rough on the outside but is much better when you step inside. The bathrooms are small. The room we have has double beds instead of queen.

I don't understand why there are negative reviews. The outside of the hotel and the surrounding area looks like it's under construction, but the inside was not bad at all!     I have been staying at this Best Western over the past several years when my job brings me to Chicago. The staff is friendly and efficient. I was here last week and the guest rooms are undergoing renovations. The location is close to highways and in a quieter area of the city. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance. Usually the rate is very attractive except during the summer when the rates increase in all Chicago hotels. I intend to stay at this hotel during my future trips to Chicago.

    The hotel requires one major improvement: replacing single layer drafty windows with modern two or three layer ones. It's Chicago and winters are cold, folks. Another peculiarity at this hotel that you have to ask for a fridge, they are not in rooms by default. Otherwise, our experience was mostly positive. The heater was powerful enough to warm the room despise the freezing draft from the window. Bathroom was in full working order. Valet parking was a big convenience in the cold weather, you just have to call the reception 20 min prior to the time you need the car. The staff was friendly.

    Overall, we had a positive experience. We knew it was a farther walk from where we wanted to be (more in the heart of downtown), but the price - $80 was so worth it! We had a pleasant experience. Don't eat at the restaurant. Overpriced food that was McDonald's quality. Room was clean. I thought the bed was alright, but my boyfriend thought it was too soft. Overall, we enjoyed our stay!

    The Hotel was a great price but for the smell that was in the halls and rooms, they should let you smoke in them. Parking prices are ridiculous. The Valet cost more than the room, and they park your car on the street and watch it, but it is still exposed to the elements and crime.

    The remodel has been a terrific improvement. Our King room was tastefully decorated and everything in good working order. The parking rate has increased to $50 (w/out tip), but is due to parking remodel and probably will not be that price permanently. Octavio was very gracious; he's a nice addition to the staff. We were unsure if we'd have to cancel but the time frame (24 hours) had passed. He acknowledged that we're frequent guests and Best Western Rewards members, and offered to make an exception. We did not have to cancel after all. One suggestion - our king room had only one wing chair and the rolling desk chair. I made mention to Octavio during check-out. Because the room was easily spacious enough to accommodate additional seating, I thought it worth mentioning. He concurred that since a King bed is a typically a two-person room, more seating would be a good idea. It's nice to feel valued.

    From my room, I had a great view of Michigan Lake. Next to Michigan Avenue almost everything was walking distance. Located on the south side of downtown, it was great to be ½ a block from the Red Line (subway). This gave us access to the whole downtown area within a few minutes ride. We are planning on staying here again this summer. Even thou we live in the west suburbs, it is better to stay downtown instead of driving home after a long day of sightseeing and partying at night.

    I found this hotel on Trip Advisor and am so pleased. The price of this hotel given the great location in downtown Chicago is excellent. The staff was super friendly and helpful, the hotel was very clean and quiet and the quality of the room was much better than I would have expected for the price. The bathroom was new and very nice and the bed was very comfortable. Definitely plan to go back next time we are in Chicago.

    Stayed here for four nights. Approaching building from the outside was a bit disheartened. Looks in need of some serious upgrading. A bit depressing. Lobby is a bit dreary but relatively clean and inviting. Front desk staff were excellent throughout the stay. Corridors have seen better days, and flooring seemed uneven. Rooms themselves are well used but clean. Bed was comfortable, and bed linen clean. Bathroom well stocked and spotless. Had some issues with noise from neighbors (college party crowd) but front desk dealt with this promptly. Location is somewhat borderline when it comes to convenience. If you don't mind walking (or walking to transit) this hotel is convenient. Locally, there's not that much to see. There's a handy Trader Joes around the corner and some places to eat closeby. If staying in a hotel is part of your holiday experience, this place doesn't really fit that bill. If it's only a place to lay your head, this place delivers.

    I am sick and tired of hotel reviews being unhappy over the stupidest things like the paint is the wrong color. I want a room that does not have bugs, the beds and room is clean in a safe area so I can walk outside and is not overpriced. So for me this was great. Chicago hotels are expensive this is was the best value for my wants and needs. The L train is two blocks away. This was my first trip to Chicago so maybe I had nothing to compare it to but I would stay here again

    I did not like valet parking took a while to get my car at a non-traditional time. I did not expect it immediately at rush times but I thought at other times it would take over a half hour to get. Being from downstate it is unheard of having to wait like like that. I don't know if it is good timing or not it just seem forever to me. The hallways were narrow, dimly lit and had an awful smell. Hear quite a bit of noise from the hall during the night.

    My family recently stayed at this hotel during our first trip to Chicago. We were on a budget when making a reservation and relied on reviews to select this hotel. The reviews were accurate overall. Yes, the exterior looks like it could be updated, but our room was very clean and mostly updated. I believe we were given an upgraded room. The bathroom was modern with neutral decor. It was very spa-like with a beautiful glass shower. Our room was on the small side with 1 bed but very cozy. It was a plus that it came with a mini-fridge and microwave. Our room was a corner room with views overlooking both Michigan and 11th, so we had an awesome view of the Museum Campus area, the lake, and part of the downtown skyline. What a great location to easily navigate the Chicago attractions. The staff were nothing but kind and helpful. Honestly, I would stay here again. If you want a clean place to stay at a budget friendly price choose this place.

    The hotel workers were so nice and helpful. The reservation process was very easy. I had 52 people in my group, and I asked that all the rooms be close together for supervision purposes. The hotel staff did an excellent job of accommodating us. We had to check out of our hotel by noon, but our train home was not leaving Chicago until 5:15. The hotel people were very accommodating in storing our luggage for us during the day. The location of the hotel is great. We could walk to lots of attractions. The hotel employees could not have been nicer or more accommodating!!!

    My mom, my best friend, her mom, and I traveled to Chicago for a concert and stayed in a room at this hotel with two queen-sized beds for $300 per night. The location was nice, as it was within walking distance of Millennium Park, Soldiers Field (where the concert was), and Yolk, a delicious breakfast restaurant. However the overall quality of the hotel was disappointing. There were spots of mildew on the walls, the supposed "queen-sized beds" were hardly large enough for my mom and I to fit, and the parking lot was completely full and they failed to mention that it was reservable. I think that $300 was a little too much for this so-so hotel.

    Stayed one night for an interview at a nearby hospital. The concierge and front desk associates went out of their way to be helpful, friendly, and professional. The rooms were clean, quiet, and comfortable. Booked through Best Western website and got a fantastic deal for a Friday night, and there is even street parking across the street (free 10pm-8am).

    As a previous reviewer said, this hotel is great value. The room price was extremely good for the location, and quality of the room, lobby, and service. The staff was friendly and helpful. I enjoyed breakfast at the onsite restaurant, Mei's Kitchen. It did not serve lunch at the time of my visit but there is a nearby restaurant, Yolk, on Michigan Avenue that is reasonably priced and has a good menu. The hotel wifi was free and worked fine. I had a great room on the 9th floor (the top floor I believe) with a view of Grant Park and the lake. There was some road noise but it is downtown Chicago after all. The room heater/AC was a little noisy at night but this is a small inconvenience in relation to the other advantages of the hotel. For location, quality of the amenities, and sheer value for money, I think the Best Western Grant Park would be hard to beat in Chicago.

    The location convenience was exceeded only by the helpfulness of the staff. We experienced an illness, and the staff worked with us to accommodate it. They also brought up a refrigerator when asked. The only drawback was the tight space between the edge of the bed and the wall to access the bathroom.

    This hotel is walking distance to Soldier Field and many other places. The restaurant Yolk, right around the corner is excellent as well. The staff at the hotel were so very nice, helpful and showed us how to get around and provided a map. They even let us check in 3 hours prior to the actual check-in as they had a room ready. This was even on a game weekend. The room was great, clean, and a great view. Price is very reasonable. The restaurant/bar connected to the hotel was good as well. I will definitely stay at this hotel again when going to a Bears game! Highly recommend!

    I will not be staying there again. The hotel room had a horrible smell that I could not get out of my clothes. $53/night for parking is crazy!! When I went to check out there was no one at the counter for me to check out with. Their fees are extremely high and they aren't even that nice of a hotel, the outside is dirty.

    Unbeatable location, just a few mins walk to Soldier Field, aquarium, planetarium, Art Institute of Chicago and heaps more. Miracle Mile shopping street is a little further (1mile) but still walkable. The AMTRAK station (Union station) is also about 1mile away, and Roosevelt metro station is just 1 block away. Take the red line from this station to Grand CTA station, then it's a 20min walk from there to Navy Pier. Motel itself is a little outdated, but everything is in good working order and clean. Bed was a little hard, but OK. Bathroom is small. Staff are excellent! Very helpful, polite, and efficient. Motel is situated on a busy street, so ask for a room facing the back. Wheelchair accessible.

    Overall the staff and location of this hotel are great! The rooms are a little dated and were a little "dirty" not in a really bad way, just in an older hotel way. Our stay was pleasant enough and the staff were really friendly. This is a very central location, within walking distance of the Miracle Mile as well as other attractions. I'd stay here again!

    Stayed on the fifth floor near the front side so had an angular view of Lake Michigan and a beautiful view of downtown with the top of the Sears Tower overlooking us as well. Large, comfortable room with lush bedding on the nice king size bed. Bathroom immaculate with modern fixtures. Fast and easy walk to the museum campus and Buddy Guy's Legends. Thinking of picking up a bottle of wine? There's a Trader Joe's around the corner. Parked in long term parking (not the hotel's) half a block away, and when we mentioned we needed to get to our car to stow our luggage while we spent one more day at the museum, they offered to hold our luggage at no extra charge. Everyone had a smile on their face, and we made sure our every need was attended to. Octavio, the Front Desk Manager, is amazing! He made us feel like one of the family, and I sure hope he's there again when we visit. Hubby had one problem. The choice of TV stations is limited, but heck. I wasn't there to watch TV. We were told they will renovate in 2016. If they do half of what Octavio mentioned, it was be wonderful. Thinking a fridge in my room, guys.

    If you're looking for a hotel close to Soldier Field, this is the place. It's only about a 15 minute walk to the stadium. I loved the area as there was a Trader Joe's down the block around the corner. The CTA trains (all lines) as well as buses were easily accessible within 1 - 5 blocks.

    « Great Location for a Busy Agenda »

    We read reviews complaining about various things at this hotel; however, with an Orbitz hotel/flight package, we could not turn down this opportunity to visit Chicago for a pre-Christmas visit at a very reasonable price. We were NOT disappointed. The location is great, and our king-sized bed and room on the 6th floor were totally comfortable and overlooked the south corner of Grant Park with the Agora statues. We were easy walking distance from all of the museums, and public transportation, both train and bus, were just short walks away. We made excellent use of our 3-day CTA pass and visited four museums, the Christkindl Market, a Blues Club, and a Rick Bayless restaurant. We also took a free Ghost Tour, which was a lot of fun on a mild December evening and spent time just walking and taking in the sights and the people watching. Right next door is Yolk, which will serve you amazing breakfast choices - a 5-egg omelet - OH MY!!! Other than the hallways being rather dingy and the walls being rather thin, everything was more than satisfactory for a place to rest our weary legs after full days of sightseeing.

    The BEST part about this hotel is that there is a restaurant next door called YOLK that is AMAZING! I Booked this hotel on Best Western Points. Had I paid full price I would have been upset. It was well located to visit the field and shedd museums but a fair walk to the "Loop" and all the shopping. The hotel itself was pretty outdated and run down. The beds were comfortable and the room was well cleaned. It was the couch that really turned us off. Was really stained up. We asked housekeeping to give us an extra sheet for the couch so we could sit on it without cringing. This hotel is fine if you are on a budget.

    Stayed there during trip in USA for 3 days. I visited Soldier Field and Shedd Aquarium, took some walks in to the lakeside. The hotel was convenient, quiet and the beds were awesome. Overall I recommend staying in this hotel while on tourist trip to Chicago.

    Great hotel in southern part of Magnificent Mile. Right on park. Has it's own stop for South Shore Train (Museum Campus) and CTA Bus. Basic fitness center. Parking is super expensive. I94 i close by. I never have the breakfast their because The Yolk and the Bongo Room are a block away. Best breakfast joint on the mile.

    My stay here was very comfortable. This was the second time I stayed here. The hotel price is affordable. The location is superb. It is nearby and is at a walk-able distance to all the tourist places. The restaurant below also serves good breakfast.

    Very clean. Beds were comfortable. Walls are thin. I could hear people coming and going from their room. The restaurant was ok. We were going to order a late night dinner but there were very few places to order from. They could have better choices in their vending machines. The hotel staff was very nice. It took a while to check in because they only had one person. However it was late at night and I assume they have less staff at night.

    « Good location and mostly clean, but couldn't sleep through heater / AC »

    While the hotel was clean (except for a large stain on the carpet near the bed) with a very convenient location, the heater / air-conditioner unit was so loud it was like an alarm clock. It wasn't so bad the first couple of days, I guess because the nights weren't cold enough to make the heater turn on too often. But by the third night it was coming on every 15 minutes or so. It was LOUD and there was no way I was going to sleep through it. I ended up just turning it off completely and then bundling up so I wouldn't freeze.

    Dingy and broken down, and there was a white powdery substance on the rug and baseboard that looked like insecticide. Other than that, the location is excellent so it might be worth staying if location is important.

    Nov 20 -22, 2015 - Recent stay at the Best Western Grant Park in Chicago was a decent stay - had everything you could possibly want at a good price - the halls and doors are a little dated but would recommend for a weekend in Chicago

    From the moment I arrived on a stormy night in Chicago I felt at home here. Ray the concierge made me feel very welcome and helped me to get some milk from the restaurant even though it had just closed. I was really pleased with my room (901) I think the lake view rooms must be the best choice. The room overlokked Grant Park and part of Michigan Ave. Although the Best Western is not a tall hotel, I felt like I wad in a little nest in the sky. The bed was duoer comfy and the room was clean and warm. The location is great, close to some attractions and within easy reach of the down town area. It was a little noisy -sirens etc which seemed to add to the Chicago vibe and there was some noise from the room next door but it wasn't really a problem. I loved my stay here and would definitely stay again.

    The decor of the hotel is dated and the beds were much smaller than expected. However, the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, especially the front desk staff. Their bag holding service was very helpful. It was a fine experience for the moderate price.

    Good room, great location, good service. I think this location needs some cosmetic improvements but overall is a good location for city seekers for decent restaurants, concert venues and tourist destinations. We will consider this location on our next visit.

    If you are looking for a roof above your head, this is it. It is a hotel. It has rooms. It has complimentary WIFI. But if you are looking for a better hotel experience, go somewhere else. The hotel doesn't seem to be renovated since the 1970s. Very dated lobby, hallway, and hotel room. IKEA looking table and chairs in the room. And this is a killer for business travel: there are no power outlet close to the working desk. Luckily my power cord is >8 feet so I could reach a power outlet while placing my laptop on the desk. What to charge your phone on the nightstand? Sorry, there were no power outlet there either. I had to put my phones on the floor... The walls are thin and you can hear almost everything happening next door.

    Yes the hotel looks a bit outdated but guess what, they are in the process of upgrading. The location was great, staff amazing and helpful. The rooms are clean, very comfortable beds and good linen and add the great value for money, its a winner if you are trying to keep costs down.

    We were very happy with the staff as well as the hotel location. Unfortunately, there was no hot water on the final morning and we had a train to catch. We were unable to shower because the water was ice cold. We had a full day of travel with no shower which was very unpleasant.

    Hotel is in excellent location for visiting Grant Park, the lake shore, museums, aquarium and planetarium. All are within walking distance through Grant Park. Hotel is older, but well kept and staff very accommodating. We stayed 3 nights for sightseeing and felt the price was very good for that. No complaints.

    The location is good for easy access to the park, the aquarium, etc... I could see the lake from my room on the 8th floor.There is a skate park and at night you can hear the skaters.... I think the windows are thin. You can hear people in the halls. It is a old building and not much has been updated it seems. AC unit is noisier than average. The elevator is slow so rethink being at the top floor maybe. It is probably a lower end best western. Staff was average. Stay was average to poor for the noises.

    This was a Great Hotel to stay at. It was priced at reasonable for the expensive Chicago downtown area. It was REAL CLOSE - walking distance to Orange L Line from Midway Airport and Downtown Chicago. We really liked that it was walking distance to Trader Joe's too. It does not look like much from the outside, but it was a comfortable on the inside. They do need to do some soundproofing because we could hear the Orange L Line from our room.

    « Being refurbished into a future winner »

    The location of this hotel is perfect for exploring Chicago either on foot or by hopping on a bus. Bordering the lake ,there is easy access to shopping, restaurants and cultural pursuits. The breakfast venue was good and the rooms perfectly adequate and clean although the tendency to ban access to fresh air with a reliance on air-conditioning as a less-healthy option was perplexing and appears to be a feature found in American hotels. The only real downfall was the decor which was reminiscent of the 50's and definitely not 'shabby chic'. The upside is that there were notices up informing guests of a refurbishment presently taking place. Therefore a recommendation for those visiting the city in the future.

    Hotel is in dire need of an update. Great location however. The hotel has so much potential. Sleep quality would be so much better if an update were made limiting the noise coming in through the airconditioning units.

    Having read some of the other reviews I didn't have super high expectations. Pros: * The bathroom had been renovated. The shower was very good. * The bed (and room in general) was comfortable. Easy to adjust the cooling/heating. * The flat-screen TV was good and had a good set of channels. * WiFi was great (consistently 6MB down). * Usual amenities (fridge, safe, iron and ironing board, microwave) though be aware that all of those are not available in every room * Location was good, depending on what you want to do while you're there. Across the street from Columbia, the Aquarium, and Grant Park. (A short cab ride to most other locations in downtown Chicago, though.) * Convenient bar/restaurant/quick mart attached to hotel. Don't expect much but what they had was okay. * Good service. Cons: * The main part of the room definitely needs upgrading. Furniture from the 80s or early 90s (though it was in good repair). * Soundproofing was not great but wasn't horrible. Could hear next door a little, could hear outside through the windows (for example, could hear bell on the Metra across the street). However, I was facing Michigan avenue and the traffic noise was okay. * The hallways (and what I saw of the building, except for the lobby) *really* need updating. I would stay here again, especially at the price compared to nearby hotels on Michigan. I would have given it 3 1/2 stars if I could.

    Hotel is close to museums and about a 15 minute walk from downtown sites. Outside and lobby unimpressive, but room perfectly adequate with everything we needed. Even had a view of the lake and city night lights from our 9th floor window. Was able to store luggage in safe checked area before and after check-in and check-out. Restaurant good breakfast at reasonable price but horrible service.

    Looks quite run-down, but staff friendly and the room I had overlooking the park was really quite nice. Near the Museum campus and Roosevelt L station and the Loop is only 10' walk away. Great breakfasts at Yolk just around the corner. Would go back.

    « A Hidden Jewel in Chicago! »

    We stayed here for three days and really enjoyed our visit. The hotel doesn't look like much from the outside, but they are renovating and when we were here, it was quiet with no outward signs of construction. The room and bath were clean and completely updated, though a little small, but you only sleep there, so who needs tons of floor space? The bed was comfortable (though you will want to ask for non-feather pillows if you need one with loft). The room air conditioner is right next to the bed, but I figured out if you take two luggage racks, place them side by side in front of the unit, and stretch out the ironing board on the rack it will divert the air up and away from you. Wish I had figured that none out years ago for rooms with those floor units. The agent told me they are in the process of ordering all fiber pillows and you can request one when checking in. The attached restaurant was a very good value and the food was great (you also get a 10% discount at the restaurant. Wi Fi was quick and consistent. This is where we will stay when we return. I also suggest you check out the prices online then call the hotel directly for a better rate.

    When you first pull up, it's admittedly not impressive. But it's in a great location, it's VERY competitively priced, and the service is friendly and knowledgeable. The rooms are a good size, beds are amazingly comfortable, there's plenty of storage space, the tv is large, the wifi is free and fast, the shower pressure is great... Our room was on the 9th floor and we could see both the Willis Tower and Lake Michigan. You can valet (unlimited in / out) for $38 (or $36? I forget which) per night, or you can park for $25 / day down the street (but you cannot go in and out). I will absolutely stay here again. You can't beat the location or the rate, and it's a clean property with friendly service. What more could you ask for in the heart of a city?

    We made last minute plans for Fall break and booked here. It is located directly across from Grant Park, Field Museum, Aquarium, and Adler Planetarium and on Michigan Ave. The room was clean but small. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was noisy. Noise from hall, other rooms, elevator and outside. But I always pack earplugs. Parking was valet only $38 day. I am not a fan of valet parking. Expedia website said they had self park. Best Western says on site parking. We had very good experience with this valet parking, only took our car out once. We would definitely stay here again! Great value for this awesome location.

    Not much to look at from outside, and basic in lobby and corridors but the rooms are very good. Comfortable with all you need and friendly staff. Close to lots of Chicago attractions and not too much of a walk from the main shops if you are fit! Public transport runs in front anyway. Enjoyed our stay.

Location - great, grant park across the street. We had our bikes, so proximity to the lake front trail was great. Close to Buddy Guys legends (5 min walk)

    The hotel is right across the start and finish line for the Chicago Marathon. Best staff. Clean hotel. Our room seemed to have been in middle of renovation. There was no headboard and mattress was sagging. But looking forward to stay again. Great location.

    « Great Location and On Site Restaurant »

    We stayed here for 2 nights. First impressions were not good - it looked a bit shabby from the outside but we went to our 6th floor room along a rather dark and drab corridor - but our room was lovely, we really liked it! We had a great view of Grant Park and the weird sculptures and if we pressed against the window - a lake view ! :-) Free very fast wi-fi, very comfortable beds and a nice bathroom. The air conditioning looked dated and was a bit noisy but nothing unbearable. We ate in the diner for 2 breakfasts (the Florentine Benedict was simply divine) and one dinner. It was delicious and good value for money. The location was excellent and despite my slight disability I was able to walk back here from Trump Tower area along Michigan Avenue and we stopped for a pizza en route. The area felt very safe and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would happily stay again if in Chicago. Loved the city too.

    Very pleasant and helpful staff. Updating my floor so all carpet covered with plastic. Or was the Mafia on my floor and that made clean up easier? Great breakfast restaurant just around corner on Michigan Ave. Easy walk to Grant Park. Hotel called cab arrived promptly. Hotel not far from Midway Airport. Many restaurants in neighborhood and felt safe walking.

    The room was comfortable and attractive, the staff was helpful at checkin and checkout. The hallway -- at least on the fourth floor -- was kind of shabby and dated. Fortunately, my room was not. One big bonus: The wifi was free and very fast.

    As with all US hotels there were two beds in the room. Still had a good size room with desk and chairs. Bathroom did not have a pull out clothesline and the hotel had no laundry. Free wifi was great and the beds were very comfortable.There was an ATM and on site food. It was close to grocers and some great eating places.

    Was there for Bears game with my son and the room was clean, with a great view. The bed was comfortable and the staff were exceptional with anything that you asked for. There is a restaurant downstairs that was great for breakfast. Transportation and location are ideal for any thing in the downtown area.

    I stayed at the hotel while attending a conference and found the room very comfortable and clean. Front desk staff were extremely helpful, cheerful and pleasant to work with. I happened to forget an overnight bag, and received a tremendous amount of assistance in walking me through the process to get it sent to my home.

    I have nothing spectacular today say about the hotel itself. Everything was very average. The rooms were a bit outdated and old which made the bathroom look indefinitely dirty. But it was clean and the room was a good temperature. The baggage staff were also average - but not bad. The hotel is however in a great location. Right near the train station, a block away from a supermarket and a leisurely walk from everything worth seeing in Chicago

    I went to this hotel because it was close to some of the things that I want ed to see in Chicago. I was very surprised when they told me that I had to pay for parking, I have stayed at other Chicago area hotels and did not have to pay for parking.I went up to my room and found that there was no fridge or microwave, I took my shoes off and walked into the bathroom and found that the carpet in front of the bathroom was soaking wet. I called down to the front desk and they said they would send someone up straight away and would be upgrading me to a suite for the troubles. I went to the new room and it was not a suite in fact it was smaller than the 1st room, as I looked around I saw some bugs crawling up the wall. I went down to the front desk and explained to them that the room ws not a suite and there were bugs in the room. They gave me another room and this one did turn out to be a suite and it did have a fridge and microwave in it. Though the microwave had the wrong tray in it so it did not turn, and the fridge even turned all the way cold was barely cool, it didn't have a freezer section in it. In the morning I went downstairs and spoke with the manager, I told him that the young lady that had been helping me the night before was great and that she tried her best to take care of me even giving me directions to one of the places I want to go to. He removed the parking charge, but that does not change the fact that I had to go to 3 different rooms before getting a somewhat comfortable one. They might also want to list in an easy place to see on their sight that you must pay for parking.

    « Clean and convenient »

    This hotel is just off the campus of Columbia College. The carpeting is a bit worn but the rooms are very comfy and roomy. I requested a fridge and microwave and they were there when I arrived. The king bed was comfortable and there was a two person couch that also opened up. All in all it's worth the city prices.
