"Nice room"

We stayed 2 nights at the Best Western Palo Duro Canyon, in a king suite. The room was spacious and included a sitting area with sofa, chair and tables...plus a desk. The bed area included a small dresser with TV atop and microwave and fridge within. There were 2 nightstands, each with contemporary lamp with an outlet in front. There was no safe or phone in the room. The bathroom was clean, and had good towels and quality toiletries. Much to our surprise, there were 2 ceiling fans in the room, one each in the sitting and sleeping areas. The hotel is right on the road, with a strip shopping center and gas station across the street. Our room faced the road, so had the expected road noise and light coming in around the curtain. The room also had its fair share of light pollution between the cable box, microwave, power light on the TV and alarm clock, plus lots of light coming in under the hallway door. The bed was comfortable and the room's climate control good. We missed having a wider array of TV channels. On road trips like ours, we like to watch cable shows on HGTV and History. These were not available, but HBO was. Breakfast included quite a few choices, and wasn't bad for this price point. There were eggs, sausage, potatoes, biscuits and gravy and DIY waffles in the hot selection, plus yogurt, breads, fruit, juice, cereal and more. The breakfast area was clean and well stocked. I only wished it was open later than 9 on weekdays. All in all, not a bad stay...but I wish we'd requested a room away from the road. If noise bothers you, ask for an even numbered room.

In all my years of travelling, I try to stay at Best Westerns as much as possible. My stays are between 1-2 days, sometimes as long as a week. I'd have to say, Palo Duro Canyon Inn by far exceeded by expectations. Very clean, easy access and was impressed by the room having ceiling fans. Makes you feel at home. I will stay at this hotel in the future.

Our granddaughter was getting married in Palo Duro Canyon so all attendees stayed at this hotel. It was a great experience, everyone enjoyed it. Staff was very helpful, the rooms were awesome, we could bring our dogs too.

The Best Western at Palo Duro Canyon Inn and Suites is a very nice place to stay.The front desk people were nice and friendly and made me feel welcome. The location to Palo Doro Canyon is very close by.A quick left out of the parking lot and a straight shot down the road for 13 miles. The room was clean with a nice comfortable bed. Breakfast was delicious with lots of choices and there was plenty of seating. It was very reasonable staying there and I will return the next trip to the area.

"Quick stay"

Stayed at this hotel during my travel to Colorado. Arrived at 6pm very friendly staff and quick check in. Reserved 2 rooms my mom needed 1st floor and they happily accommodated. Rooms had a musty smell when entering rooms however once a/c cooled off didnt notice smell. The beds were very firm and linens thin. Room and bathroom were clean. For a quick stay it was perfect.

About 20 minutes from Palo Duro Canyon, 20 minutes away. They made an error w/ our reservation and were "Oh well, you still have a room". Service could have been better, hotel was very nice. Included breakfast was good.

The room was clean and comfortable AC worked great even though it was close to 100 outside Good location if you are going to Palo Duro Canyon. The only negative was the free breakfast. The dining area was filled and the kitchen could not keep up. Still what can you expect for a free meal.

"DIRTY ROOMS!"

Went to Palo Duro Canyon, there are not many hotel options. Between BW and holiday inn, BW had the better reviews. The experience, however, turned out to be TERRIBLE. One of the rooms smelled like cigarette smoke, I couldn't breathe. The staff did not clean the two rooms booked. Seems like they did not service the entire second floor. The night staff was quick to send fresh towels, however, the day manager hardly seemed apologetic. Again, had a choice between two hotels closest to the park.

We stayed at the Best Western in Canyon, Texas because we were attending the Texas Musical in Palo Duro Canyon. We preferred staying in Canyon over Amarillo. This location was excellent. Our room was very roomy and comfortable. The breakfast offered a good variety of hot and cold items. The front office staff were really helpful and accommodating. We would definitely return to this location if we return to this area.

Great location to visit Palo Duro. Excellent staff, very helpful. Good breakfast. Comfortable beds and good sized room. Very close to A&M university and an historic museum. Not much else going on in Canton Texas, but it is also very xlose to Amarillo.

We stayed there prior to visiting paladuro's TEXAS. convenient, clean, friendly, and cool. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. The breakfast didn't measure up to the rest of the hotel, but average for a hotel breakfast. We would stay there again and we would remember to check that we had wash cloths as soon as we got there so we would not be disappointed again. This was only a small negative with so many positives.

We stayed here one night, in order to visit West TX A&M. The beds & pillows were admittedly not comfortable, but the service was great. The fruit infused ice water in the entryway is a nice touch, but it was not kept filled, which was a bummer after coming in from the heat. They offer a solid breakfast, but the eating area is tight. It was pretty crowded, but the waffles were a hit. Not sure we'd stay again, simply because of the beds. We'd want to try another place - but - the staff was ver nice & the place was clean.

My daughter and I stayed here for one night on our way from Denver to Florida just so we could hike the extraordinary Palo Duro Canyon. The hotel is a great value for the price with a very helpful staff. The Front Desk associate let us have an extended check out time so we could enjoy the 6 mi Lighthouse Trail hike. And housekeeping was helpful in supplying plastic bags for our muddy shoes. All in all I'm glad we stayed!!

We reserved adjoining rooms with 2 queen beds in each room. We were very shocked and unhappy when we entered our rooms and discovered we had one bathroom for 7 people. The bathroom was also all inclusive. Didn't even have the sink on the outside section. We had one trashcan between the two rooms. No refrigerator, no microwave. Motel was clean. Breakfast was fine. Staff uncaring and unattentive.

This was our first trip to Palo Duro Canyon. The staff of the hotel was courteous and helpful with directions and information. The rooms were clean and quiet. The hot breakfast was decent and well stocked.

Recently spent the night after attending the Texas musical in nearby Palo Duro canyon. The facilities appear new, the rooms were spacious, even had ceiling fans (!). Breakfast was alright for an included breakfast, but it did have the requisite Texas shaped waffle irons. Wasn't there for long enough to try out all the amenities, but based on the quality I saw, I'd stay here when spending the night in the Amarillo area again.

We're fans of Best Western and typically spend a few nights at one on every road trip. The Canyon location just completed a remodel and looks great. The location is perfect for a trip to Palo Duro canyon. Just make a left turn out of the parking lot and drive straight for 15 minutes and you'll arrive at the park entrance. We love hiking, but Palo Duro can get HOT during the summer so it's nice to take a swim in the indoor pool then get a good night's sleep with air conditioning! There are some good restaurants in Canyon and they're only a few minutes away as well.

Nice, clean hotel. Breakfast was typical for hotel breakfast, waffles, eggs, potatoes biscuits plus cold alternatives. Staff was nice and took care of problems right away. We would definitely stay there again when visiting Palo Duro Canyon.

"If you're not a camper"

If you're visiting Palo Duro Canyon, but you're not a camper this is a nice place to stay while exploring the area attractions. The canyon is just a few minutes east down the same highway. Head west and you could walk to the Pan Handle Plains Museum or drive and take advantage of the free parking. Canyon is just 15 miles from Amarillo so you could hit Route 66 or the famed Cadillac Ranch while you're there. The hotel has an indoor pool, a coin laundry and a plain but surprisingly shady, breezy and cool patio out back. It's a nice place to relax and read a book after a day of hiking. Breakfast is free and the staff popped popcorn in the afternoon.

When we saw there was a suite with 4 queens it seemed too good. When I was making the reservation the room was described to me as two adjoining rooms. Perfect for our group if 7. Huge mistake. Only 1 bathroom for these two rooms. We had to use the bathroom in the lobby with this many people. Super inconvenient. We also did not have a refrigerator. In either room! We were traveling with two other people and their room had a ceiling fan as well as a fridge. But not us. Our dresser units just had a big empty space under the television. Breakfast was always crowded and the employee couldn't keep up with the food demand. Ended up just eating yogurt and toast one day and the second, we had to sit by the front desk since all 7 of the tables were packed full. A disappointing stay at Best Western. We pretty much only stay at Best Western motels and this was a huge disappointment.

This hotel has been undergoing a total remodel. The rooms are what you would expect in a west Texas college town. They were clean and included cable TV and internet. Hot breakfast was sausage and instant eggs. Not the best, but did have the usual cereal, bread goods, waffle maker, etc. Great coffee!! Entire town was full due to graduation weekend.

This hotel was very clean, had a delicious breakfast, and friendly, helpful staff. We felt this BW was a great find for a very fair price. We really enjoyed our stay. Great location, easy to find. Will seek out the Best Western brand in the future because of this hotel stay.

"Not as Good as it use to be."

The hotel has changed ownership and management, that being said our stay was terrible. First they had our reservations wrong. We got that taken care of. This was graduation weekend for West Texas A&M and I had 2 boys graduating. I had also made reservation for my family and was truly disappointed. The rooms looked like they hadn't been cleaned. We had cracker crumbs and water lid bottles that were not cleaned up. Then my sister in law had them clean her room and she said it looked like they stopped midway. They just seem to leave. There were also bugs on the first floor. They are remodeling, but I don't see that as an excuse. It also looked like the maid service was using their children to help clean the rooms. (no excuse for this.) Our bills were also wrong. My brother-in-law did get help to correct his bill. Needless to say, I was truly disappointed and glad the boys have graduated. I will not be staying here again.

Pretty town. Great location for visiting Palo Duro Canyon. Clean. Helpful and pleasant staff. Decor dated but ok. Pillows? Tiny little half size bed pillows. Put 2 side by side & your head falls into the gap. Stack to get comfy to read? Forget it. Whatever $$ they saved buying tiny pillows cost them. I left 1 day early ratjer tjam spend another night in the bed. Great location, clean hotel, pleasant staff doesn't really matter if you cant sleep.

Hallway carpets were being redone, but staff was very kind. Rooms include both fridge and microwave. Internet was good. Breakfast was acceptable. Restaurant next door. Bring your own shampoo as they only have shampoo/conditioner combined.

I cannot say enough good about this motel. the staff was exceptional, friendly, helpful and efficient. The rooms very clean and bed comfortable. It is a great location near city center, near the Palo Duro Canyon state park. the breakfast was very good! They actually had REAL orange juice. I was impressed with this motel and recommend it.

This hotel was just lovely! I expected acceptable, decent, okay... but this place looked brand new. It was neat and clean, the beds were comfortable. The bathroom was not as luxurious as high end hotels but neat and clean and absolutely functional. Great value!

After reading the great reviews here I thought surely this would be a hotel my family would enjoy on our first ever family trip, as we went to visit Palo Duro Canyon. This was sadly not the case. We checked in at 10:30pm and the one staff person behind the desk kept interrupting our checkin and the checkin of the guest in front of us to answer the phone and help the person on the phone instead. I had two small, tired children and there was family with 3 small children behind us, all of whom ended up laying on the couch in the lobby or on the floor while we waited for the staff person to get off the phone. When she finally did, she had to start the checkout over for the person in front of me because she had forgotten all of the information while on the phone. It finally came to be my turn and then the process repeated itself! Started my checkin, phone rang, answered phone and left us standing there waiting, had to start checkin over again. We finally got to our room and it was clean and as we expected. However, the guests above us were LOUD and we heard stomping -- not just normal hotel footfalls, but stomping or someone was jumping off the bed -- until after 11pm. It woke my tired, was-on-the-floor son out of a dead sleep and he said, "Mama, what was that?" I asked the staff person at the front desk if she could please see if she could take care of it since it was so late, but it continued for another 20 minutes, when I asked again and she looked surprised, like she had completely forgotten about it. So we finally got to sleep close to midnight , and got up to enjoy the breakfast in the morning. It was a stressful, crowded breakfast as the cook didn't show up that day and the staff members were doing their best to get the food out. It happens, we rolled with it, despite being tired from our lack of sleep the night before. At checkout the morning staff person asked how our stay was and I briefly explained the trouble we had, and he said he would have a manager contact us. No one ever did, until I received an emailed survey and left an honest review of our stay in the survey, at which point I received an email saying I was going to be credited $13 for our inconvenience. The massive refund never showed up on the credit card so I replied to the email after about a week and asked if it would still be forthcoming, as I wanted to close the book on this hotel stay. I eventually spoke with the manager, and unfortunately I can now see where the problems began. While discussing my experience, he put me on hold for several minutes. Then a few minutes later, he asked if I could hold again. While I appreciate that the shoe was on the other foot, and perhaps he was helping a guest, it's a bit ironic. I'm said to say that my family's entire experience with this hotel and the staff has been poor. Although I would gladly visit Palo Duro Canyon again, I'm saddened to say that my experience at this Best Western has left a black mark on our first family vacation. We never felt valued as guests, but felt rather like "just another fee" that needed to pay and move along.

Enjoyed our stay and this nice and clean hotel. Friendly check-in service and a decent breakfast. Enjoyed the indoor pool too. My wife and I visited the Canyon with my brother and nephew and our stay was comfortable and uneventful.

"They just started badly needed remodeling"

Our room had not been remodeled yet. It had some problems: noisy ceiling fan, a nail in the carpet at the edge of the bathroom; curtains in dire need of repalcement as wll as some other minor (but annoying problems). But I would stay there again after the remodeling. They we very helpful and pleasant. Breakfast was the standard BW fare. No butter, only margarine (UCK)

We stayed for two nights while visiting Palo Duro SP. Hotel was satisfactory, staff were very friendly and responsive to requests, and breakfast was decent. A minor issue was finding a parking spot when we returned one night when returning about 10 pm.

"Charged for the Same Night Twice"

I wanted to book for a same-night stay using miles, but the airline's site would only allow me to to book from one day out. I called the hotel and spoke with their representative, who told me that I could book using my miles for the night of 3/4 and that they would change it to a stay for 3/3 no problem. Awesome, I thought, and went ahead with the booking - being sure to make a note of who I spoke to regarding the date change. With that, I started my 5 hour drive to the destination with the assurance that I had booked a place to stay. Fast forward to 9:30 PM the evening of 3/3, we arrive at Best Western Palo Duro Canyon Inn and are informed that the lady I spoke to on the phone (not mentioning her name here) forgot to change my booking and that they booked my room to no one else. Okay, no big deal, I thought. I'll take another room, even a cheaper one would have been fine. Nope - not without paying again. So, not only did I lose all of my miles that I used to book a room under assurance of Best Western staff, I had to pay $85 with my credit card for the wrong room because of their mistake. Now I'm jumping through hoops to get them to refund me for their mistake. Paying the equivalent of roughly $200 for the wrong room in a 3-star hotel isn't fair and just isn't cool. Make this right and I'll amend my review.

"Great location for Palo Duro State Park"

A nice big room, great to have a bench to put your suitcase, lots of lighting, counter space in living area, great bed. Functional to have a separate living area with a couch and chair especially we were with another couple and would get together in one room to talk. Would have been an excellent stay if they had not painted the exterior driveway curb which produced a toxic smell for several hours throughout the hotel.

"Palo Duro Canyon trip"

Front desk staff courteous, room ready upon arrival and quiet through the night. Rate was fair. Mattresses were hard and linens worn pretty thin. Water was luke warm so shower wasn't comfortable. Hotel rooms outdated and felt iffy. Renovation in the hallway areas was underway but they made this known on their website. Next trip to visit Palo Duro Canyon we will stay in Amarillo to have better hotel choices as well as restaurants, movies, shopping. Not much in Canyon.

"The bad outweighed the good!"

Spent two nights. Upon entering and checking our room, it was evident the bathroom had NOT been properly cleaned. Toenail clippings in the floor; filthy sink with hairs; soap residue all over counter and soap dish holder. Nasty toilet! We nicely informed the manager, he took notes. I said I had pictures or would he like to come see. He said not necessary and would take care of it. We left for the evening and returned to NO cleaned up bathroom at all!! Called and talked to desk person. She didn't know anything about it and couldn't leave front desk. I went down and asked for some product so I could clean. She handed me a spray bottle and a rag. I asked for gloves. They had none. I cleaned my own bathroom!!! Next morning I told the manager what happened and he said”sorry” and offered no apologies or excuses for not taking care of the situation when we initially reported it. I asked for compensation and again all I got was sorry. Looked at me like I was the scum of the earth. If I could have left, I would have, but had to stay in that area. Room was cleaned some the next day but not well. Workshops are needed at this facility on cleanliness especially with so much prevelant sickness.

Room was very nice and clean and spacious with desk, couch, and chair. Nice bathroom. Microwave and refrigerator are a bonus. Breakfast was great and included sausage, eggs, waffles, etc. Well worth the stay.

We have stayed here before and it was not bad but this time it was. Hotel is under construction and dirty. Room smell of heavy fragrance and we did not stay our second nite. Holiday Inn next door is a better option.

This motel just had it all together. Very comfortable very clean and very respectful of what I needed. Locating the motel was relatively easy, and with Restaurant and gas station nearby made it very easy to take care of any of my other needs

I have stayed here twice and both times the staff has been very helpful. The rooms are clean and beds comfortable. My grandkids swam in the pool and loved it. I used the treadmill. Breakfast was good and filling. I will stay again.

This was a great place to stay before getting up and touring Palo Duro Canyon. My husband and I thought the night desk clerk was very friendly and helpful, the room was clean, and the amenities nice. The breakfast was sufficient and clean.

While travelling from Montana to San Antonio for the Christmas Holidays we visited the BW Palo Duro Best Western again this year. The stay was convenient and comfortable. Front Desk associate, Stone, was very professional and efficient. The biggest positive change from prior visits (4) is the improvement in the Breakfast offerings. The new attendant (4 days on the job during our visit) was a true pleasure to see early in the morning. Her attention to detail and a sincere desire to accommodate all who came in was excellent. She was progressively attentive and sincere in her desire to serve "her guests". As a former Best Western Hotel owner I would hire her without any reservations. Housekeeping and the maintenance department needs to pay more attention to detail in the bathroom cleaning around and behind the toilet and maintenance of the tile flooring installation and grout. Outside grounds, especially in the rear of the hotel, are in need of attention. These three issues kept the hotel from receiving an "excellent" rating.

We were in Canyon, Texas to attend the WT A & M University graduation ceremony. We stayed at BW Palo Duro Canyon Inn & Suites due to the convenient location. Although the hotel was full to capacity due to the graduation, the accommodations and service were excellent! Very friendly and helpful staff!

This hotel has undergone an updating & is quite pleasant. Our room was very clean & the room service was excellent. The staff was helpful & friendly & the breakfast was one of the best we've enjoyed from many hotels. We couldn't swim because the pool was being finished. So in a few weeks, that'll be nice too.

"Wonderful Stay"

My sons go to West Texas A&M. My youngest son had to have gallbladder surgery. We stayed here as usual. Stone could not have been more helpful. He checked us in and helped us get the best price for our stay. He was very concerned about our son. They allowed our son to stay with us for the night after he got out of surgery because his apartment is on the third floor and no elevator. Then my sister in law lost her cord to her phone. Stone just replaced it with some of the cords they had. They went way beyond what they had to. Always have had a good experience here.

We were traveling on I-40, and wanted to stay near Amarillo, but away from the heavy taffic areas. We found this hotel only a few miles away in Canyon. Perfect, quiet location. The hotel was fantastic, friendly staff, clean room, great hot breakfast!

Stayed 2 nights here instead of Amarillo with its road works and traffic issues. The hotel was undergoing renovations but it was still a great place to stay. The rooms, breakfast, wifi were as expected but the staff were outstanding. Their attention to guests and their needs was faultless and they were so very helpful without being intrusive. They remembered where you were visiting and what you were doing. You were made to feel special and valued.

Excellent hotel in the TX panhandle - south of Amarillo. Very clean and updated rooms. Had a king suite - very roomy and well appointed. Bath neat and tidy, with updated fixtures. Breakfast had hot food items, tasty and fresh. Eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy - way beyond the waffle machine places. Bed very comfortable, nice pillows, good lighting to read in bed.

Our room itself was comfortable & clean. My wife & I often stay at chain hotels whose independent owners run their business "at the cusp", i.e., run their hotel/s at the ragged edge. Business philosophy is not hard to discern: How much will the owner invest into his/her aged, if not ossified, physical plant & how much will the owner pull-out of his or her premises in return-on-investment (ROI).

We came to run the trails of the Palo Duro Canyon. The Inn was very close and easy access to the Canyon. The Inn was easy to find and the Inn was very good. Room was clean and well kept, as was the Inn itself. We would not hesitate to book this Inn again.

Canyon, Texas is a great college town in the Texas Panhandle and the Best Western Hotel is a nice place to rest when the sun begins to set. The Hotel accommodations are very suitable and the Staff Members are there to help.

Met some college friends in Canyon. This is a very nice little hotel. The staff was all very friendly and helpful! The room is nice. The only suggestion I would have is a softer mattress like a pillow top or memory foam...but that's mostly a personal choice.

Great stay. The breakfast was very nice with plenty of good options. Room was very clean and looked recently renovated, but still had a cigarette smell. Two days after we checked out, we realized that we left my five-year-old son's jacket hanging in the closet. We called the front office and they had it for us. Great customer service. I would stay here again, no question. Great value for the price.

This is the second time I've stayed in this Best Western, and both times have been very pleasant experiences. The staff is very helpful and efficient, the rooms very clean and comfortable--and attractive. The hotel is conveniently located to good restaurants and to the beautiful Palo Duro Canyon State Park. Breakfast was very good--I'd like more selections of fresh fruits and more whole wheat options for even better one!

"Very disturbing mix up."

This was an average, good enough place to stay until just as we were falling asleep I heard someone trying to get into our room. We were very tired, and I let it go as a mistake for a while but then called the front desk to let them know. At some point I went to the door and yelled at whoever was out there to go away! I was almost asleep again when the phone rang, asking me what my name was. I told the front desk clerk and was getting angry at the interruption. As I was almost asleep, these events are not well remembered.... but then after getting back in bed and again feeling like all should now be well there was another call, now from the manager at the front desk, asking me to come down with identification and a credit card. I dressed and went down in anger where the manager, Brandon and I figured out that we had been booked into a room that had been promised to someone else. Indeed, Brandon showed me the computer generated registration form and it was not my name on the top, yet I had signed it. My bad for not checking, sure, but not my bad to begin with; the clerk didn't check either! Brandon was clearly trying his best to straighten out the mistake, but I was quite angry by this time, and felt some compensation was due me. Brandon claimed that I didn't even have a reservation, tho I checked my electronics later and found that I did. SOOOOOO I gave Brandon my credit card so we could be appropriately charged for the room (Brandon declined my request to comp the room), and finally got back to bed and eventually, once calmed down, I went to sleep. Staying in a strange place tends to put us in a vulnerable frame of mind, and this experience was quite disturbing to my sense of peace and safety.

Stayed one night. Huge room. Breakfast was a bit haphazard. There was a long wait for the hot food due to being only one girl on duty. Not her fault. We went to restaurant next door for dinner, the food was pretty good.

For the outside the place was very clean and tidy, a gas station and store over the road, a number of eating places in the area. Check inn was very quick, the reception area was clean and tidy. The room was clean and well presented. I had noticed this place is under new management and has been having a new lick of paint along with some other improvements. At no time did this impact on our stay. Any problems we had were sorted at once. We found the staff every friendly and all willing to help. The hotel was very quiet, the wifi worked well.

Frint desk employee, Courtney, was friendly and helpful. Being pet owners we were happy to find out our two dogs were free, and hotel provided nice grass areas. We ALWAYS pick up after our pets!! Room was clean and comfortable, especially enjoyed the table in our room to eat our take out dinner from across the street at Pony Express Burrito. Bed was very comfy. Room even had a ceiling fan! We left at 3am so didn't get a chance to enjoy breakfast hotel provided. Bathroom was clean and good lighting with enough towels, guest soap & shampoo. We will most likely return to this hotel upon our return trip!!

"Don't Understand All the Recent "5-Star" Reviews"

One night stay. We chose this hotel due to all the recent 5 star reviews on Trip Advisor along with its location to Hwy 27. On the positive side: the gentleman that greeted us at the front desk and checked us out in the morning was warm, friendly and helpful and the beds and pillows were comfortable. The property, under new management and ownership per sign outside, was dingy, outdated and not well-maintained: Scuffs on walls, doors not wiped down, paint needing touch up and dirty elevators. The parking lot was full of gravel, small rocks and dried mud which made rolling your suitcase a challenged as the wheels kept getting hung up on the small rocks. The room was musty (thought it was cigarettes when we first walked in) and tired, sheets dingy and shower curtain had that unappealing dingy area across the bottom from soap scum and sitting in water. Breakfast: tables, food counters, floors not kept wiped up from other's messes. Attendant not keeping food area clean. Challenge to find a clean table. Mediocre food selection. This place needs an overhaul. Five stars?? Note: you are in cattle feed-lot country so you will most likely smell that in the air.

This is a convenient place to stay if you are on the road or planning to visit the beautiful Palo Duro Canyon state park. It's right off Interstate 27, we easily made a reservation that afternoon, check in was friendly and efficient and the room was quiet and comfortable. Breakfast was adequate and again the service was very friendly. We would stay there again if in the area.

Like, "I don't want to spend another second in this room, much less sleep" bad. After entering the room, we called the front desk, who told us that they couldn't move us to any other room because there were no available rooms. The front desk employee came up to our room and confirmed himself that the room indeed stink, and they previous guest had also complained about the odor. (That apparently didn't stop them from putting my family in the room. Sigh.) The best they could do at the time was bring up some sort of electric "deodorizer" device. Whatever the device was, it made the smell even worse. We told the guy at the front desk that it didn't help, and he said that was all they could do and that I should speak to their GM in the morning. We put pillows over our heads while we slept and tried to fight through it until the morning. In the morning, I spoke to another front desk employee (not a GM), who also told me there was nothing they could do, and encouraged me to call the company I booked the room through. After calling the booking company, they apparently convinced the hotel to give me a whopping 15% off my night's stay. I supposed that was better than nothing, but I and others in my traveling party thought I shouldn't have had to pay a dime for the room. It was that bad. The location of this place was fine, and Best Western is typically a solid choice, but due to the smelliness of our room and the hotel's unwillingness to do much about it, I wouldn't stay here again.

"Great Location To Visit The Palo Duro Canyon & See The Play "Texas""

This was a group bus trip organized by the Gateway Baptist Church in Denton, TX. We spent the night at the Best Western and the bus took us to the Palo Duro Canyon where was say the play "Texas". If you have not been to the Palo Duro Canyon and seen the play you should definitely make it as soon as you can. The Canyon is unbelievable and the Park Rangers have wonderful stories and lores about the Canyon. The Play was fascinating with singing and dancing and horses. Our hotel was clean and everyone friendly and helpful. A full breakfast at the hotel comes with your room including; hot eggs, sausage, bacon, sweet rolls, fruit and waffles. A great trip!

"Two night stay; slept well."

We stayed in the "Queen Suite" which in reality was a converted maintenance building outside of the hotel. We enjoyed the solitude. Parking was excellent. The bathroom was in good shape. Hot water was plentiful. The "kitchen" sink is corroded and not worthy of a "suite". The door did not have a peephole, the chain latch was broken, the slide lock did not engage, the deadbolt was not functional, and there was no "do-not-disturb" placard available. The "suite" had enough cupboard and drawer space for a small apartment but no pots, pans, dinnerware or silverware. The microwave was the only cooking appliance. Counter top lighting was non-existent. Wiring for the TV, microwave, and coffee was unorganized and ran up through the countertop. The bathroom was excellent and up-to-date. The "suite" had no couch, comfortable chairs, or coffee table. The furnishings consisted of two nightstands, one queen bed, two chairs and a small square table. The legs on the table were shaky. The staff at the hotel are friendly and accommodating. They even pointed out that we had missed a discount and credited it to us. Overall, the room was not worth what we paid for it; especially after seeing other rooms inside the main facility. This "suite" is not a suite and is not worth the price that we paid.

"Nasty floor"

The floor was sticky and smelly. The 2nd morning the "hot breakfast" was no where to be found. The clerk said they were out of eggs and bacon. We were there at 6:15am. They had to know they were out the previous day.

We stayed here with our teenaged grandkids. It was clean and comfortable and the staff was so friendly. A full breakfast is served. It is conveniently located in the city of Canyon, which is an easy drive to the state park.

Stayed 1 night. Hotel is ok What you would expect. Our room on the first floor had a couple of big stains on the carpet which had never makes you feel comfortable. And being on the first floor it was really loud due to the proximity to the parking lot and everyone leaving /slamming doors in the morning. The best part was the young man who checked us in. He was very friendly and gave us the best options for the best food and drinks in the area.

"Good Effort But More Not There Yet"

I want to first say that they hotel tried hard to make things right. But, there were just so many problems to overcome! Problem 1 - the TV not only didn't work, it was not even hooked up. It was a gorgeous new flat screen TV...but it wasn't even hooked up. Not even a remote control anywhere in the room. I was sick so my husband wanted to watch movies. The manager on duty said the repairman was on the way. One hour passed. Two hours. Three hours. Five hours passed. My husband stared at the walls and then fell asleep at 10pm. When my husband pulled back the covers, he found a hole in the sheet and the pillow covers on inside out. BIZARRE...and unacceptable for Best Western standards. Next morning, they manager said they couldn't find the repairman and didn't know when the TV would be hooked up. All the employees were bending over backwards to help make our stay better, but how were they to reconcile holes in the sheets, a TV that isn't connected and a repair man who has disappeared? They could not salvage our stay, but I do not blame them. The place changed managements and they were simply not ready to re-open. I cannot recommend this hotel at this time but with a little more time, money and attention to detail, I think they can make it work. They had the personal pride in their product, they just need time to turn it around. Good luck!

"Terrible Stay - Avoid This Hotel!"

Best Western has always served us well in the past, but this particular one was absolutely terrible. We arrived around 9 PM and checked in. The first thing we noticed was that there was hair on the sheets of the fold-out sofa. We complained to the management and they gave us fresh sheets and a blanket. We also noticed that the carpet in our room had multiple stains on it. The light switch to the entry was broken and would not turn off. The remote for the second TV was missing and we had to go to the management to get a replacement. The indoor pool was cold and the hot tub was "under construction." At night, we could hear the family above us jumping around until 1 a.m. Worst of all, the breakfast the following morning was the greatest disappointment we have ever experienced from a Best Western hotel! We came an hour before the officially 9 AM closing time. There were no eggs, sausages, juices, or resupplies of anything. My daughter had no milk for her cereal or juice to drink. The pancake mix was all used up. Our family of five was basically jipped out of a $40 breakfast. The attendant simply said that the supply truck had not shown up. If a customer goes to a restaurant and is told that the steak he ordered is not available and is given bread instead, the customer would expect to pay for the bread, not for the missing steak. Many families, including ours, choose the hotels they stay at based on the availability and reputation of the breakfasts. The management at this particular establishment did not seem to care at all. They offered no reduction in price for our stay or voucher for a future price reduction. Our strong recommendation is to avoid this hotel. Caveat emptor!

The hotel accomodations were comfortable and affordable. The room was clean, linens were warm, and the air conditioner worked very well. The breakfast included scrambled eggs, bacon, and biscuits with gravy for those that like gravy. Staff were friendly and accomodating.

We thought that this BW was very nice but somewhat pricey when we stayed first time, so booked ourselves here on roadtrip again this summer when we found a great online rate. Very poor experience all the way around. Room furniture had tons of debris under the cushions, our carpet was stained, public areas no longer clean, elevator slow and luggage carts nearly nonexistent. It's bad enough that other guests smoke a couple of feet outside the front door, but the front desk clerk constantly on smoke break there? We won't be back.

"Not a great hotel, but few other options"

I initially wanted to camp at Palo Duro state park, but was afraid it would be too hot to camp and the cabins were too small for our family of five. I should have camped. The hotel was one of two hotels in Canyon, Texas. It was dingy and just didn't feel clean. On the up-side the location was close to the state park and the highway. There's free breakfast and the front desk was decently friendly.

We arrived at the hotel at 2:00pm. We were told that check in was at 3:00 and our rooms weren't ready yet. That was fine, but it was worth checking anyway since we had been driving for five hours. We went driving around and came back a little after 4:00 and our rooms still weren't ready. This was a bit annoying. The staff wasn't very apologetic about the situation. I guess some of the cleaning staff didn't show up. Other than that, the rooms were clean, the pool was clean and refreshing, and we enjoyed breakfast every morning.

I got a great deal for this hotel. If you book at this location, get the top floor. We stayed on the first floor and heard footsteps early in the morning. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Indoor pool was nice and the kids enjoyed it. Breakfast was good but if you don't make it by 9am, some food will still be left out.

This Best Western was very nice hotel for the price. Every staff member was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good...waffles, eggs, bacon etc. Within walking distance to West Texas A&M College. Very short drive to Palo Duro Canyon.

The Best Western in Canyon is a great deal! A little cheaper than neighboring hotels, we found it to be clean and very roomy. The beds were very comfortable and we enjoyed the extra items that were available at the continental breakfast. The indoor pool was clean and the hotel was well kept overall. We would definitely stay there again!

We traveled to Canyon to visit family and to see the production of "Texas" at Palo Duro Canyon. We were surprised upon arrival to see a large group of people waiting for their rooms. We had arrived after the usual 3 PM check-in time but were not given our room until 4:30 PM. The room was barely OK - furniture was stained, shower curtain a dirty, stained mess, etc. Threadbare, stained washcloths, shabby overall. Bed was comfortable, sheets seemed clean. Breakfast was sparse at best. Not a good experience!

Avoid. Worst Best Western experience ever. Understaffed and under trained. No management presence and little concern by employees. Breakfast area was a disaster. Trash overflowing can, no OJ in the machine, shortage of items to eat. dirty, etc. Check in took 5 to 10 minutes to have someone show up at counter. (I think the one person had to do everything and was busy taking care of some other issue elsewhere in the hotel.) No pillows available for the pull out couch bed, "We are out." Had to get towels and bedding for the third person and the pull out couch bed.

We checked in very late. The young man at the desk was doing a job and had no personality. I asked for maps of the hotel and the area and none existed. He provided me with a printout of some information on the Canyon, but it was of poor quality and not really readable. The room was nice and clean and the bed was comfortable. They state they provide complimentary water, but when we asked about it, we were told that they were out at the front desk and they rest were locked in the manager's office. This did me no good whatsoever.

We had to call for someone to come properly sync the TV/remote, and apparently other guests had the same issue.

We stayed in a nice comfortable roo, but...the bed was clean but the dust ruffle was hanging off the bed in places and tucked all the way under in other places. All the mirrors need cleaning especially bathroom. Vanity needs a deep cleaning instead of a quick wipe down. Tub stained, carpet stained, looks like a deep cleaning would fix everything. The morning desk clerk was real nice and said she would talk to housekeeping about the room. Breakfast was nice with a lot of choices.

Check-In Clerk seemed more interested in socializing with friends in the office than helping guest. One ice machine on 1st floor only is unacceptable, especially with only one slow elevator. If there was any manager on-duty during my stay their presence was not noticed or effective.

"Don't stay here. Go next door to the Holiday Inn."

Clean the room! Check in time was 3:00 pm and the room wasn't 'ready' until 6:30 pm. The check in clerk apologized and promised to call when the room was ready. We went next door to a restaurant and never received a call. We returned at 6:30 to receive a terrible room. It was extremely dirty. Bug and toilet paper on the bathroom floor, a piece of pizza crust in the ice bucket and the carpet looked like it hadn't been vacuumed in weeks. The bathtub was caked in soap scum and the hair dryer cord and label were filthy. Only one luggage cart was available. When we complained about the cleanliness, the manager said she changed the sheets herself and assured us that they were clean. The housekeeper standing behind her just rolled her eyes. Next time we will stay at the Holiday Inn next door. This motel had very few people staying there so the room should have been ready and clean when we arrived. The Holiday Inn next door was packed. I now understand why. We were given a mere discount from $88 to $70 but that did not compensate for the frustration we felt.

Keep the bath towels,hand towels, wash cloths clean. Keep the sheets on the beds changed with clean sheets. Keep the TV's working. Keep the rooms, hallways, and facilities clean. Keep the drink machines full, so one does not have to leave the facilities to go buy a drink. Keep regular coffee in the rooms and you should never run out of coffee during breakfast. Should I go on or do you have the picture?

We chose to stay at this hotel because it was a Best Western and because AAA had given it a high rating. Despite receiving a warm welcome when we checked in, the rooms were not clean. Upon receiving our concerns, we were moved to different rooms, which unfortunately, were not much cleaner than the first ones. The dining room also was quite unclean and the trash containers were running over. I hope that management will address these concerns as it really is a nice hotel.

I booked the hotel because it was close to WTAMU. We were coming up for new student orientation. We checked in after 4:00 and the room was still being cleaned. The vending machine was out of product the entire stay (2 nights). There were two large parties at the hotel - a family reunion group and a wedding party. So in the morning the breakfast was very busy and on Sunday by 8:30 - there was no food out. Bagels had mold on them. Trash cans in the breakfast area was overflowing with trash. The bed was comfortable but bring your own pillow. The room had a ceiling fan. I thought it was odd but was glad it was there because we could not get the room cool enough. For the price, I will stay in Amarillo next time and get a better room.

The hotel was nice and convenient for visiting Palo Duro Canyon. The only issues we had were there was hair all over our bed so we had to call and get the bedding replaced. Also, the breakfast was good but they were unprepared for the amount of guests they had. They were running out of everything for breakfast. Other than that we really enjoyed are stay there.

We stayed here for a free night on a road trip. The hotel is like stepping into a time portal into the 80s. The rooms were large and the bed was comfy, but it is dated and could use a face lift. Loved this hotel when we stayed there in 2015, but it's fallen quite a few notches. Careless cleaning, indifferent front desk, dirty hot hallways, soiled carpet in room, trash under cushions of room couch/chair. One luggage cart for three floors of rooms. Won't bother staying there again.

The only good thing was the price. This hotel is dirty. No one seems to vacuum or clean the place at all. I refused to eat the free breakfast based on the filth I saw on the lobby floor, in the halls, on the elevator and in our room. The walls are dirty and scarred up and the only good part was a decent night's sleep on a comfortable beda and the fact that they take small pets. Won't be back.

Enjoyed our stay at this property. Staff were very friendly and helpful, room was clean and comfortable, everything worked, and breakfast was good as the standard breakfast fare gets. If you're nitpicking, you could say the rooms were on the small side, but wasn't a problem for our family of four. Convenient to the Panhandle Plains Museum and Palo Duro Canyon.

Hotel was full just before we got there, so there were late check outs. But our room was ready. The room was large with ceiling fans and a large bathroom. One of the TV's did not work but that was fine with us. Décor is nice and the room was very clean. Hotel staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast area is large and has a long table for family seating. Coffee was good, food selection well thought out and spaced nicely and this hotel has a Texas shaped waffle maker. We saw several dogs at this hotel, so it is pet friendly.

We've over-nighted both at the Best Western- Canyon AND many times also at the next-door Holiday Inn Express- Canyon. We're not sure how the Holiday Inn Express- Canyon gets-away with charging so much for its rooms which are a tad newer but on the whole much the same as Best Western's rooms.

Had to find front desk manager. Next day out of beverage cups (coffee/tea). Customers rummaging through cabinets. Advised front desk and attendant. Took a while to get sorted out.

This Best Western is full of friendly staff. The room was very clean and bed was comfortable. The dining area is just the right size and they have flavored coffee creamer (always a plus). Pet friendly and large/wide hallways. Elevator is slow, but roomy and works fine. Stairs located at end of hall are well maintained. This is the good side of town. Parking was adequate. We had a pleasant stay in the king suite on 3rd floor.

My daughter goes to WTAMU and I have stayed at this hotel on the average of 3 times a year since the summer of 2015. I noticed a change in the cleanliness feeling about a year ago the minute I walked into my room. The main thing that caught my eye was the bed skirts were wrinkled and askew. The next thing I noticed was a water bottle cap on the headboard and coins on the floor. This was so different from my previous stays that I asked management if their housekeeping staff had changed because it had always felt so clean before. I believe this was my 4th stay since things changed and it will probably be my last. The sheets and pillowcases are wrinkled (4 stays), bed skirts wrinkled and askew (4 stays), dead flies in the window track (2 stays but I didn't check the other times), yellowed thin towels (3 stays) (although the towels were much better this trip). The staff was really nice but they can't make up for the issues with the cleanliness of the the room. This trip included stains on one fitted sheet, stains on both chairs, stool/ottoman and luggage stand, drawers not wiped out, hair on the shower wall, lamp shades stained and crinkled, plastic shield on A/C unit dirty. I don't expect perfection but I do expect a room to "feel clean". I refused to sit anywhere except the bed and I had to put something over the stained stool/ottoman so I could put my luggage on it. This stay was only slightly better than my last stay (towels and shower curtain) but I am returning to Canyon in August but my reservation is with a different hotel.

The room and bathroom were clean except for the shower curtain. The bed was comfortable and we had plenty of room in the King Suite. I had bacon, scrambled eggs, apple juice, and hot tea. Also available were waffles, cereals, etc.

We stayed here for two days (4/26 and 27) while visiting Palo Duro Canyon. The hotel is easy to find and close to the park (12 mi. +/-). The staff was very nice (prompt, helpful with dining options). Our room (third floor) was clean and comfortable although the couch and chair were a bit dated). There is an elevator. The internet is fine for email and searches. The TV has a decent choice of channels. The breakfast was OK, (the gentlemen handling it struggled to keep up with a relatively small breakfast crowd) with the highlight being waffles in the shape of Texas (only one of the waffle makers has this) which was fun. The rooms were reasonably priced and we felt they were a good value. We would stay here again.

Not only was this a very good hotel price/quality and good free full hot bfst and excellent free internet but it was minutes away from one of the best museums in Texas [Natural History on the campus] but it was only a 20 min drive to PALO DURO CANYON State Park which was a real discovery ! it is really a mini Grand Canyon but the hikes in it are superb and the colours in late afternoon magnificent; also abundant wildlife: foxes, deer, turkeys, dozen of birds and the occaional rattle snake . Also dozens of road runners and not crowded at all. Do not forget to visit CAPROCK Park as well and Turkey town .and drive along 70 like in the 50ties : 4 cars in 3 hours ! So forget Amarillo but do visit the Cadillac Ranch and part of Route 66 there .

We usually stay in this hotel when we visit Canyon. We have two sons going to West Texas A&M. I can always count on help from the friendly employees at this hotel. I was a little disappointed in one of the rooms. It looked like it had not had a through dusting in a while up around the curtains. There were a lot of cob webs. This was not the case with the other room we booked. We will still stay here because this staff is very helpful and friendly. I am sure they will get this corrected.

My spouse and I spent 2 nights at the BW Palo Duro Canyon Inn in a king suite. It was comfortable and about 15 miles from Palo Duro Canyon. We didn't use the pool and the hot tub was out of order. There's the Buffalo Restaurant next door which makes for an easy walk for dinner. And it's a short drive to the Panhandle-Plains Historical museum, which is worthy of a visit.

This was my third time staying at the property since our child has started to attend West Texas A&M University. All I can say is that I give this place 2 Thumbs Up like always! Staff was friendly and courteous from Check-in to Housekeeping, and Breakfast. Manager Christine is especially a treat, she really cares about the guests at her hotel. It seems the hotel was undergoing some renovations at the time I was staying, which is fantastic. The noise never bothered me, and I am looking forward to any additions the hotel will be adding for my next stay. Glad to finally see the owner putting in some effort! His/her staff really outshine the current property, I could easily mistake them for employees of a Mariott or similar!

Really just a very poor Best Western. While the room was OK, the door was knocked of the hinges to the laundry room. Someone kept leaving the door to a storage room wide open though it was a shambles. There were leaves and dead flowers on the landing of the stairs for all four nights I stayed. Without question, it has the poorest quality breakfast buffet in my experience. Eggs and meet product cold, out of items. I wrote a review on the Best Western site the other day, unlike many positive reviews I have written, this one has not received a reply. I suspect management has their head in the sand.

This hotel was just ok. We thought we ask for a king non smoking. We got a king with a queen bed in there also. Which was ok. Didn't hurt a thing. The tub was kinda old and stained but it worked ok other than pressure in shower was too light for my liking. Beds and pillows were pretty comfortable but beds in our room had vedskurts that were all jacked up but there again didn't hurt anything. There were two ceiling fans. The one closest to the beds had no way to turn it off or adjust and that was a little problem. Overall it was ok. But it wasn't anything special.

Stayed 3 nights with my brothers on a guy's trip to the canyon. Had stayed here previously with my wife and 3 kids. The King/Queen suite room is a great layout - two areas and plenty of space - lot's of square footage and a nice L-shape. Room was clean and quiet during our stay. Price was right. Perfect location for those going into the canyon on day-trips - straight shot down the highway. Also within walking distance to the Panhandle Plains Museum and restaurants. Would be 5 stars except - major safety issues in the workout room. Two of the floor electrical sockets for the equipment were completely pulled up with all the wires exposed - need to fix that immediately before someone gets into it! Also, the bench collapsed when I laid on it, and the dumbbell plates do not secure well enough - maybe go to a rack with fixed-weight dumbbells to eliminate that as well as the loose plates laying about the room. Surprised by this.

I've stayed at many other BWs across the country -- it's our go-to road trip hotel because we travel with our German Shepherd mix. This particular one felt more like a motel quality, despite being over $100 a night. The carpet was stained, the walls were thin, the TV was glitchy, the soaps in the bathroom were cheap, the beds didn't have a comforter/duvet, just a fleece blanket sandwiched between two sheets. My advice: keep driving a bit further. The Lubbuck BW is MUCH nicer.

Visited to reserve a block of rooms for upcoming wedding. No one at desk. Rang bell, no response. Waited several minutes and rang bell again. Someone finally arrived and greeted us with "yes". She couldn't help us and said she would have to get the manager. Manager was outside smoking and did NOT interrupt her smoke break to help us. We left! There is a Holiday Inn Express right across the street. It is a much nicer facility and we we met by professional staff who were eager to help us. Book with them and you wii have a much more positive experience.

Décor was fine but maintenance of some areas lacking. Small things like "dings" in Bathtub and cracks in drywall in some places. Had ants and flies in room that were not obvious at first and too late to ask for a change of rooms. A couple swats and tissue paper picking up ants solved the problem. When the ants and flies were mentioned at checkout all the clerk offered was to say that maintenance would be called to spray room and thanks. No regrets or apologies. Bathroom floor and breakfast room floors were sticky. Breakfast was poor. No improvement from last report from 2 years ago. The breakfast attendant was happier spending more time at front desk than in breakfast attending to poor presentation and low levels of eggs.

We stayed here one night to watch our son's team play at WT. Room was ok. Pretty clean if you aren't looking too close. Bed skirts on both beds were torn, tucked in and crooked all around each bed. Just sloppy looking. When I plugged in my charger behind the night stand there was a bloody tissue and some coins. Just shows the rooms aren't thoroughly checked. Lobby is tiny. Breakfast was very typical for this kind of hotel- nothing fresh, no fruit. There aren't a lot of choices in Canyon so I would probably stay here again, but not for certain.

Nice hotel, pet friendly, comfy bed. The linens here are old and even though they are clean they don't look it. The ceiling fan in our room had layers of dust on it. Very cheap tissue and toilet paper, but good shower pressure. There is a huge cobweb on the ceiling. We would stay here again due to the proximity to the Canyon and the hotel being pet friendly. Maybe the housekeeping staff could use some coaching.

My family and I stayed at this Best Western hotel in Canyon, Texas this year. We schedule way in advance due to the fact the hotel is always clean, rooms and beds are very comfortable, location for what we need is perfect and all the staff we need help with are so helpful and friendly. Not too crazy about the breakfast but the experiences of staying at this hotel outweighs that. We will definitely make every effort to stay at this hotel every time we are in Canyon.

Lots of issues, nothing major but here is an example. No hot breakfast food on Friday morning at 8:15.... passed 3 employee's while I was going to the breakfast bar. Several guest waiting for breakfast and looking around. No employees at the front desk or in the food area. Most of us left so I dont know when the hot food got made (if ever). Sheets and towels seem to be very old and very cheap. The towels in the pool area are so badly stained I wouldn't advise using one unless you really have too. Seems like management has decided to sacrifice service and quality to save a few cents. I rated this place as average but it is really close to poor. If BW would invest a little money and time this could be turned around but I think average is the goal. Not for me, I will cancel my BW rewards and move on, I suggest you do the same.

I might have given this hotel 5 stars, except for the dismal linens. The towels were the and dingy. The sheets were not crisp. The shower curtain was stained yellow along the bottom. On the other hand the room was large with plenty of room to keep your packs and poles if you are hiking in the Canyon. Check-in and check-out were easy and efficient.

Standard fare for the best western but the hygiene and cleanliness is well below standard. The room was dusty, the coffee machine and clock was covered in dust and the towels are going yellowish with age. Breakfast was a joke we had to ask numerous times for things to be topped up like the milk, the cereal and the bread. The breakfast room chairs need to be replaced due to the amount of stains on them. Pretty disgusting especially as I am a fan of BW

This was our second stay, our first being in 2011 and both being to visit Palo Duro Canyon. This time we felt that the hotel needed some tlc and did not seem to be up to the standard of our first visit. We only stayed one night and at breakfast we were asked to collect our belongings and go either next door or across the road as there was a smell of gas. We were not allowed to leave as starting the car engine could have ignited the gas. We were only delayed 10 minutes and the staff handled it very well. This incident has not biased my review.

In general terms, this was not a restful place to spend two nights. Canyon is a small college town near an attraction that draws many visitors during warm weather. Some people are happy to have a bed and a free breakfast and that is all that counts. As a business traveler, I have higher expectations. If you are the only motel in town, or one of a few, you should strive to make things the best your town can offer. The breakfast area was not fully stocked with all items. The attendant should be on duty and maintain the area throughout serving times. The room had some of those things that I hate to see like dirty corners in the bathroom. I was not expecting top notch linens in a BW, but these were not up to my standards. Ok place for a night, but could be much better.

The hotel is very clean. I would have given it a higher score but the young folks running the desk and the fella in the breakfast area are disorganized. My Sister-in-law inquired if there were cabs in the area. The could not answer the question. I had to ask them to stock the breakfast area as it was completely empty of food and many essentials. He likes to hang out at the front desk. He never did clean off the tables, we did. My husband got out creamer both mornings for everyone. It is the little details they are lacking. The maid staff was great and so friendly. Nice place just a bit of attention to details would be helpful to you and your guests.

Our room 115 was terrible. Someone had left a note by the TV which read " if no sound, unplug the HDMI cable wait then plug it back in to see if it will work"... the linens on the bed looked like they had been already slept in when you pulled the spread back. We could hear the people in the room above us walking back and forth, flushing the toilet, taking a shower, etc... they got up multiple times during the night so we got little sleep. The breakfast area in the lobby was disgusting. Food on the floor, counters, waffle batter spilled all over that area and the bananas were so over ripe they smelled rotten. Food wasn't refilled & nothing was maintained. We ate nothing here.

We looked for a place close to Pablo Duro Canyon and picked this based on the reviews. We were disappointed at the shabbiness of the room. We had a King Suite but it was gross. This is more like a 1 star. The carpets in the hallway haven't been vacuumed along the edges or corners in a very long time and are filthy. The carpet in the room was stained in multiple areas and needs to be replaced. The foldaway bed didn't come with a blanket.The bathroom was moldy and the handicapped shower leaked over the rest of the bathroom leaving a soggy mess. Not a very pleasant way to use the toilet or sink. This is a dog friendly hotel and in the morning, someone's pet had defecated on the tile. An hour later it was still there although the cleaning ladies were working to clean the rooms around it. To be frank, this hotel was filthy and management seemed unconcerned.

Booked weeks in advance , but was given a room with a handicapped bath. I didn't request it nor was it explained our room was a flat, no side shower. Water ran all over the floor and out the bathroom soaking some of our clothes. The hotel was not full; so I don't know the reason for assigning a handicapped bath to non-handicapped travelers. The bed was comfortable, rooms were clean, breakfast was good but they weren't as quick to refill everything as I expected.

When my husband and I first checked in they only had a two queen bed room and we wanted a king room. The next day Christine, at the front desk, had housekeeping fix up a king room for us right next to our room on the third floor so we wouldn't have to completely pack all our belongings and switch rooms to another floor. This made the transition easy. The housekeeping is consistent both rooms were clean. The beds are very comfortable and the free wifi is pretty decent too. There is a great burrito place across the street, a restaurant next door that has good drink specials and a Dollar General all within walking distance.

The personnel at this site was excellent, the room was both large and roomy and the fresh breakfasts that was supplied was fresh and tasty. Altogether, this was a very satisfying stay for a good price which included all of the amenities that we wanted as a traveler.

The room was comfortable enough, but a bit dated. The tub had dirty foot print marks in it - maybe stained - and I can't remember the last time I used a hotel shower that didn't have the crescent shaped shower curtain. I felt like I was in a closet and the tub was a bit slippery. The chairs in the room were a bit creaky and wobbly, but they never broke. The hotel staff was very courteous and helpful when I asked for help. My daughter and I were going to take a swim, but frankly, the pool scared us a bit. It was murky looking and I think the bottom was painted a dark blue. Whatever it was, it made the pool look dark and uninviting. We visited the vending machine downstairs for a snack and that was an adventure. It was poorly stocked, didn't accept any of my one dollar bills, and one of our items got stuck. I bugged the poor guy at the desk three different times just trying to get a snack (this was one of the times I asked the staff for help). I think one of those small open market type setups that a lot of other hotels have might be a better option. Overall it wasn't a horrible stay, especially for the price, but it wouldn't be my first pick next time.

This hotel was convenient for going the Palo Duro Canyon but disappointing in the cleanliness area. The towel and bedcover were clean but stained. Upholstery in the breakfast room was very soiled. The hallways all need a good vacuuming. I would not really recommend this hotel other than for the location. Front desk staff hides together in the office and puts out a bell for service. Really? Not welcoming at all.

This was probably the WORST free breakfast buffet I've ever seen/had There were FROZEN biscuits on the line, cereal containers empty, no napkins, and the trash can was running over with people setting trash on the top of it and other places...all the while the breakfast attendant was in the storage? area playing on his phone....NOT A GOOD EXPERIENCE. On a positive note, the beds were comfy and the AC was great. There was also ceiling fan in room which is a plus.

We booked a 2 bed, plus sofabed room through a hotel booking site for our larger family. We then tried to confirm our room directly with hotel days before leaving, they said they didnt have any such rooms. We contacted booking site, who called us back and told us who they spoke to at the hotel, and that it was "all fixed". When we showed up to check in they gave me a room with two doubles only, (which wouldnt fit my family), and when I went back to the desk they said they didnt have any rooms like that available (after 12 hours of driving and very exhausted family we could have cried). Luckily we told them the name of the booking site person, date he called, and who he spoke with there-and they begrudgingly gave us keys to the room we had actually booked. The Executive suite was extremely spacious and pretty with archways and fans, and only lacking a second tv in the sitting area (L shaped room, couch and chair facing a wall over a dresser, but the only TV in room was way around the other end of the L, (couldnt be seen at all from sitting area). Pool was nicely warmed, and the kids had fun in it, but later we found chips of blue paint on them and their towels, which was concerning. Towels were thick and fluffy, room temp was perfect and system quiet. Only downside was breakfast-small squishy rooms with tiny tables, not great layout and poor selection. For the room alone I would give it a 4/5 (floor needs to be insulated or something, even the little 2yr old made booming sounds by just walking across the floor, and we heard others above us as well), but the breakfast was a 2/5 at best, and the need to fight to check in for what we had reserved was disappointing. They should totally revamp breakfast, otherwise ratings would be pretty high.

The location was central to everything of interest in the area. Very clean and quiet. Breakfast was fresh and good. Personnel were extremely friendly and polite. We visited Palo Dura Canyon during our stay, and really enjoyed the site. Recommend this motel to any group of travelers.

Recently stayed at this hotel and everything was decent except for the cleanliness. The bathroom Floors and shower curtain were real nasty as if they hadn't been cleaned properly in months. The carpet was also dirty. The pool was also a big disappointment as there were chips of flooring coming off inside the pool. The carpet looked as if it wasn't even vacuumed. I didn't take my shoes off the whole time except for when I'd go to bed. Housekeeping needs improvement.

This hotel is a hidden gem near Palo Duro Canyon, in the small college town of Canyon Texas. We came to see the Canyon, and the wonderful TEXAS Musical, and were very pleased by this stay. This is one of the nicest Best Westerns we have stayed in. All the staff had smiles on, and greeted us every time they saw us. The breakfast was very plentiful for a hotel this size. Overall 5 stars, I think other hotels could learn a thing from the staff here at this Best Western.

PRO's: This was a jewel of a motel. Came to Canyon specifically to visit Palo Duro Canyon and the Panhandle Plains Museum. The motel was a pleasant surprise. Lots of helpful staff including Hunter at the front desk. Excellent amenities for the value minded customer. CON's: Only one. Didn't like my late night dinner at Buffalo Restaurant next door, but many restaurants were closed when I arrived. SUMMARY:I would definitely stay in this motel if I was passing through Canyon Texas.

I liked the layout of our room. I thought the bathroom furnishings were a little sparse. We had a soap and a shampoo. I could have used a bath mat (I just used put a towel down, but then the kids were missing a towel) and was hoping for a lotion or a conditioner. I did take the kids swimming, the pool paint was peeling so sometimes the paint would stick to your feet and I noticed there were paint chips everywhere in the pool room. That explains it. The breakfast was fine the kids liked the waffle maker the breakfast attendant was really friendly. Here's a bonus, they actually had stevia for the coffee.

The hotel was not thoroughly cleaned, we found a used cup on the bathroom floor and saw ants on a window cell in the breakfast area. The bed is very firm and uncomfortable. However, the staff were friendly and professional and the sheets seemed to be clean.

I should have known something was up when I walked into our king room and the bed was shorted pillows. The bedding was not nice. One of the pillows looks like someone just finished sleeping on it and the case wasn't changed. We have a pullout sofa for our kids. The pullout looks extremely uncomfortable. There was no bedding in the room for the pullout, so we go back downstairs in the rickety elevator to be told that there are no pillows in the hotel. The cleanliness is just okay. They also only gave us 2 towels, so we had to go down and get more so we could all shower. I'm just coming back from a 2 week trip where I stayed in Best Western hotels across the country. I've stayed in older buildings that were much nicer. This is the only one that didn't have HBO, also. I won't be returning to this hotel.

Front desk help were quite pleasant but it was down hill from there. The room at a first glance looked fine. It wasn't until I stepped into the bathroom and found the floor was very sticky, the counter and faucets looked as though they were wiped with a dirty rag or maybe the dirty mop. There was a hand towel with makeup on it. I had to call and have housekeeping bring a replacement for the bed top duvet as there was some kind of dried fluid on it. Don't get me wrong, the rooms are nice especially with dual ceiling fans but they lack any kind of cleanliness. I was afraid to take off my shoes. But on a lighter note, breakfast was a nice surprise.

This hotel was below standard for typical Best Western. Bathroom was dirty, pool even worse and food cold. The pool door was propped open so smokers could go in and out. Flies were everywhere. I got an email from manager saying they would like another chance. The desk clerk was nice when we arrived but next morning no one was on duty at breakfast.

Made reservations about 4 hours before our arrival & Hunter was very helpful. Checked in around midnight & gentleman at front desk was really nice. We got to our room and only had two towels and a few sheets of toilet paper. Also, the ice machine was taken out on the third floor which is where we were. The vending machines were out of order as well. The gentleman at the front desk was great. He gave me towels, TP, and bottled water. The rooms are nice with comfortable beds. I didn't like the small pillows. Breakfast is OK though there were guests barefoot and no one said anything to them. Breakfast area is very tiny as well. I am on the fence with this one. It had some flaws but the guy at the desk did try to make things right which I appreciate.

The in-room ceiling fans are a nice touch that I haven't seen in other medium-priced hotels. We like eggs at breakfast. On both mornings of our stay, the scrambled eggs were so salty that we could not eat them. The sausage was much less salty than were the eggs. You really need to fix this.

The hotel was in a good location for visiting the Palo Duro Canyon. It was clean and spacious for our family of 4 - including 2 teenagers. It has queen beds which is nice. The best thing was the ceiling fan! It's hard to find a hotel room with a ceiling fan - but you really need one in Texas in July. Breakfast was a nice selection as well. My daughter was pleased with the nutella and waffles.

We went to see Texas the musical at the Palo Duro Canyon State Park. This property is just 15 miles or so away. It is new, the staff is nice, and the rooms were nice and cool after being in the heat all day. I slept really well, which is usually an issue for me in hotels. The rooms are really spacious, and the breakfast had a good selection, so it saved us time and money before driving home.

We certainly enjoyed our stay at BW, and our time in Canyon. This is the first hotel in a long time with AC that actually blows cold air! Everyone was friendly, courteous and helpful. The rooms were cleaned and well maintained by the room staff. It was with BW in Stephenville that I started my tradition of a Texas waffle, covered with peanut butter, topped with a sliced banana (I had to buy one this time), and drizzled with honey. I call it the "Tarleton Waffle."

...why all the five star reviews because certainly not architecturally special, small unimpressive lobby, rather un-modern. SOON realized it's the amazingly helpful and personable, real smiles, staff. Two of several good moments: -We could not figure out how to operate the TV, called reception figuring getting a tip over the phone. "I'll be there in a moment." Quickly arrived carrying an extra blanket in case needed, quick instruction about the TV remote, all done! -Drink lots of coffee. Room attendant noticed, left lots of extra supplies for day two with a nice note. All is clean and in good order. No, not a grand palace of a hotel but perhaps something better!

Stayed at the BW Palo Duro while visiting my parents grave in Canyon. I had previously stayed at a competitor and had a bad experience regarding being lied to about their pet policy, so it was refreshing to deal with a place that was honest about that since we were traveling with our disabled Corgi, TullyMars. The check-in was smooth and the man that checked us in was friendly and helpful.The room was large and clean, Tully was welcomed, the parking lot accommodated our small trailer. At breakfast the next morning the attendant was a bit frazzled and was out of a few items...I think he didn't plan ahead for a full house brought on by commencement at the local university. Still, breakfast was fine and we were on our way. Good overnight stay. Don't even mess with the place next door if you can stay at the Palo Duro Best Western.

This hotel was wonderful. I stayed with friends and we had a great nights rest which we all really needed. It was the most spacious and beautiful hotel room that I think I have ever had. It was clean (actually the room smelled wonderful, as did the towels!) The bathroom was excellent. So many hotel rooms have poor lighting nowadays so I was grateful for the comprehensive lighting options. I could easily do all of the work that I needed to get done in the evening using the internet.

This is a nice hotel located on the direct road to Palo Duro Canyon. It is a pet friendly hotel. It is a bit dated and the decor is pretty bland, but the room was clean. There is restaurant next door that has great take out food. There is a covered patio behind the hotel, and it was a beautiful evening to eat outside.

Large comfortable king suite appeared to be decorated with colors inspired by the natural environment of the nearby canyonlands. Hotel was modern, clean and attendant were friendly and efficient at check in. Comfy pillowtop mattress with plenty of pillows, but could benefit with a bit thicker blanket or duvet. We did not eat breakfast here, so cannot comment on that. The front desk attendant at checkout was a bit scruffy-looking wearing a gimme cap, tshirt and jeans, which gave an unprofessional appearance. Other than that, we would recommend this as a nice hotel at a reasonable price.

There is a Best Western Hotel in Canyon, TX, ever though you may have trouble finding it on-line. The hotel is listed under the heading Palo Duro Canyon with no mention of Canyon,TX, or West Texas A&M University. The Hotel is relatively new and has all the amenities one expects on BW hotels. Prices are reasonable and the hotel is located adjacent to the WTA&MU campus if you are in town for Homecoming or some other alumni activity.

We are in town for a couple of weeks. Our first night there money was taken from our room. We told front desk and nothing was ever done. We asked repeatedly what was being done. But nothing was ever said about it. After the fourth day we check out and moved motels. And the manager never once contacted us about it or nothing was never done. So you stay there be sure to take everything with you. Or just stay next door. Much better acomidations!!!

I was so pleasantly surprised by this hotel. It was very clean, quiet, and the breakfast was filling (waffles, fruit, yoghurt, eggs, hashbrowns, coffee, tea). The laundry was on the ground floor and easily accessible for guests. The location was perfect for visiting Palo Duro canyon - drive out the canyon gates, stay in a straight line for 15-20 minutes, then pull right into the hotel. Wouldn't recommend anywhere else. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Wifi was very fast and reliable (which surprised me for such a small town). Also a good place to explore the Texas Panhandle-Plains museum - which is huge and worth seeing.

While it is supposed to be an amenity, the only thing that the indoor heated pool adds to this property is the overpowering stench of pool chlorine. You can smell it before entering the lobby. The staff was very pleasant and responsive, but my room was not very clean. The bathtub had a film of soap scum, as did the sink. The bathroom mirror had not been cleaned in a while. This suited my needs-I was hiking the Canyon and only needed a place to sleep at night-it was almost the same as camping.

Wonderful staff with very clean rooms and great air conditioner! Comfy bed and comfy pillows. Internet works well, and the TV recieves all the channels. Simple hotel that gives you what you need. Nice size closet. Hair dryer isn't that great but that's my only complaint!

I also stayed here August 2015 and plan to come again. The hotel is very clean and decent size rooms. The staff works hard to give you a quality breakfast. It is located right off (walking distance) to the WTAMU campus and many churches. You may have to drive (or long walk) to a better than average restaurant. The staff is very friendly and attentive to your needs.

Staff was very welcoming, room quiet, clean and comfortable. We enjoyed time at the pool with our children and grand children. Plenty of towels at the pool. There was also seating in our room to have guests sit and visit. Overall a nice trip. We expect to do it again when we do this will be where we stay.

We only stayed one night but were extremely satisfied with the hotel. We received a complementary room upgrade, everything was clean, comfortable, and nicely decorated. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great. We thought Palo Duro Canyon State Park was fantastic and hope to come back and stay longer.

We have two boys at West Texas A&M and we always stay here when we visit. We have always have a comfortable room. We get a suite so we have places for the boys to sit and visit. The staff is aways friendly. It is also a good value.

"Bring your own towels and a blanket"

Not many options in Canyon so this property doesn't have much competition and it shows. Threadbare towels and thin blankets on the beds. This was our first visit in the winter. Staff is fine, nothing special. We did not eat breakfast this visit. but in the past it was fine.

Stayed in the king suite for 2 nights. Excellent hotel. Room has a king bed, another bed and a couch with a pull out bed. Everything looks new and well maintained. Has indoor pool and fitness room but I didn't use either of them. Breakfast was nice and included hot food (scrambled eggs, tater tots, sausages) along with yogurt, fruit cups, make your own waffles, toast, bagels, biscuits & gravy, cold cereal and probably some other things I forgot.

This hotel has always been my choice when visiting Canyon. I enjoy the clean and comfortable rooms and friendly staff. The location is great for visiting WT and Palo Duro Canyon. It is just a short distance to Amarillo, but Canyon offers plenty of shopping and dining choices without the hectic traffic.

This hotel is wonderful. I was skeptical when booking, since it's kinda in the middle of nowhere (at least it is for someone who is from a hustle-and-bustle kind of place). We were lucky enough to get a deal on the King suite on Expedia and the beds are comfortable, the rooms is spacious, and the staff was really friendly. :)

We stayed here for my husbands graduation 12/11/15. The hotel was nice and so was the staff. Breakfast from 6am-9pm and I had a corner room on second floor which was close to stairs and our car in parking lot. Parking lot was well lite. The elevator was just a little slow so we took stairs most of time since they were so close to them. Our room was clean and a descent size. I would stay here again if in Canyon.

The room was clean and comfortable and had a refrigerator and microwave as well as a separate sitting area. The bed was comfortable and the breakfast was good. The in-room heating unit was very quiet.

We had to extend our stay due to an ice storm. Everyone was very helpful and kind. They are pet friendly. They don't have a hot tub, but the pool was warm. Great variety at breakfast. We will stay here again.

Great place to stay close to the state park. Very clean and spacious rooms. Appears to be newer construction, within the past 5-7 years. Decent breakfast but the same variety day after day. We stayed for several days and would have liked something different after day three. However, still a very good way to start your day. The rooms are very clean and plenty big. We traveled with two adults and one ten year old and our 110 pound dog. Plenty of room for the dog to stretch out and not get stepped on at every turn. We used everything in the room, TV, fridge, microwave, ceiling fans, a/c and heat and the pool. Everything worked perfectly and all were very clean and well maintained. The only thing which bugged me was the bath towels were replaced with fresh ones daily, regardless if hung back up. Seems a bit wasteful but considering everything else, this was incredibly minor. I would highly recommend this hotel and would certainly stay here again.

Thanksgiving holiday, leave and head to Palo Duro Canyon and come back at 5:15pm to a room that has not been cleaned/serviced. The desk person (man, 11/26/2015, 5:15pm) said it was my fault because I had a "do not disturb" sign. No we don't. We left at 9 am and we do not even have a sign. He said it was because we left it on the door. Really? He is mistaken and should have just offered to have our room cleaned but instead said I should leave a review. This is it. We would leave and stay elsewhere ut we can't get a refund or a room due to the holiday.

After investigation, it appears to have been a mix-up with our housekeeping staff. When I talked to you at the front desk I offered to have the room cleaned immediately when you brought it to my attention, as we still had a housekeeper available. You replied "why would I need my room cleaned now that I am already in it? No thanks!" I offered to come up to the room personally and make the bed, take out the trash, and bring you towels. You stated that my offer wasn't good enough, and refused. I apologize for the mix-up, and I am glad that you left a review so that I can address it with my staff. "Not cheap, but comfortable"

I was disappt'd we had to pay so much for a one-weeknight stay in Canyon. With pet fee, the online nonrefundable rate was $120. But even staying in the downstairs room closest to check-in (#105) with vending machines nearby, cars parked just outside our windows, etc, all was very quiet---a spacious room, fast wi-fi, fridge, good cable. Only complaint is that the king bed wasn't accessible from one side without climbing over the AC unit and scooting sideways along the wall. That side of the bed also had clearly not been vacuumed in quite some time, there was debris on the rug, lots of dust build-up. Otherwise, a good night's rest....but it should have been for that price.

Aside from the fact that the management/staff at the Best Western in Canyon, Texas proved to be very flexible and accommodating, they also proved that they were concerned with our comfort when an unexpected breakdown of the air conditioner in our room occurred the last day of our stay. In less than 60 seconds after I had informed the desk manager about the problem, a repair technician was knocking at the door to evaluate your conditioner. When everything goes just as planned and “according to the numbers”, it's very hard to tell how well an organization can handle unexpected and atypical events. The Best Western team in Canyon, Texas proved that they are very able to handle unexpected situations quickly and decisively and seemed to make it a point avoiding any compromises to the customers comfort. I was very impressed and relieved when the desk manager made it clear that if the technician were unable to repair the air conditioner quickly and decisively, he would move us immediately to an alternate room. I was so impressed with that because he actually assured me of this before I had to ask him or even indicate any concern with that possibility! In fact, this point is very important to us because in similar situations it seems too often that the customer has to make a request and then wait for a decision. Then, when the decision eventually comes, it usually involves a compromise on our part. I'm very happy to say this DID NOT take place between the Best Western manager and us and in fact, he did everything to make us feel confident that the issue would be quickly handled and we would not be left with having to accept any compromises one way or the other! The room was very comfortable and roomy, (we chose the room with the single, queen-size bed). Everything worked and the TV set was large and easy to operate. The bathroom and shower were in excellent condition and frankly, the room exceeded my expectations in all categories. I'm sure we'll definitely consider staying there again in any future trips to Canyon, Texas. RP

"Very Nice Accommodations"

The Palo Duro Canyon Inn is aptly named as it's just a short drive due east to the park. My experience at Best Western Inns is pretty consistent: clean, well maintained, nice firm beds, comfortable, well located, good staff. This BWI was no exception. The only ice machine is on the main floor so it was a minor inconvenience to use the elevator in retrieving ice. There was a nice, quiet patio out back (enter through the enclosed indoor pool area). As this was my first stay in Canyon it was good to learn that this BWI is just a short drive to some good restaurants and to the Panhandle Plains Museum just up the street. All in all, a very good trip of sight-seeing and a most pleasant hotel stay.

I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The room and hotel are very clean. The staff is friendly and helpful. Everyone I met had a smile on their face and seemed happy to be part of the BW family. The general manager was great! He made sure I was satisfied with my room. Breakfast had many good choices and the breakfast area was clean and had plenty of tables.

"Watch yourself! "

Stayed here this month because I wanted to checkout palo duro canyon for the first time in my life. This was one of the best places to stay since it was close to the canyon. The bed was great and had a goodnights rest. Cold a/c that I can't complain about. Overall it was good. Went down for the free breakfast and it was good. The only problem I had was when I confronted an individual serving the breakfast. I went in to the dining area and I was trying to choose what to eat. A hairless individual came up to me and was literally forcing me to take some muffins. I kept on telling him it was ok but he kept insisting. He then reached my purse and put them in it in a very rude manner. I didnt say anything after that. He kept trying to talk to me but I walked off instead since I was already frightened. I decided to not even eat. Once I walked off he kind of gave me an angry look but I kept going. When we went back down to check out Of our room i sent my husband to do it and I walked out another exit. We had a good stay but that man just really freaked me out.

Recently stayed here two nights as part of visiting Palo Duro Canyon. Very pleasant stay. Clean, quiet, hotel, helpful staff and a very comfortable room. Room was large, a nice sofa & coffeetable, comfortable bed, microwave, fridge, coffee maker, easy reliable wifi. Pleasant breakfast room, very decent selection. So nice after traveling & and then spending another day in the Canyon to just come back to your room & have no problems. What travelers dream of.

The room was very spacious and comfortable. Everything worked, including the WiFi! Breakfast was good with more choices than La Quinta. Hospitality clerk was very friendly and helpful. Particularly enjoyed the spacious room that even had a comfortable couch without feeling "crowded".

I was surprised at the quality of the bed and amenities in the room. I like to have a fridge and coffee maker in my room, and this place had it. Good pillows, good service, good breakfast, too! I highly recommend this hotel.

Someone had mentioned the Palo Duro State Park for hiking. This Best Western was right there to provide us maximum time at the park. Staff was professional and friendly. Plenty of room. Everything was clean. Continental breakfast was fresh with hot coffee.

"Man in breakfast area was disrespectful"

The hotel was very clean and was very comfortable. It seems to have been kept up real well. I would've gave this place a higher rating but I felt disrespected by a bald man that serves the breakfast. I went into get breakfast and he was just standing there staring at me. he kept offering me more food and following me all over the place. he was really annoying. I then got up to serve myself some more breakfast and he just stood there staring at me. After I went and sat down he went and made an in appropriate comment about my daughter and I. It would be great to be able to enjoy the breakfast and without anyone just standing there and watching. Everything else was good and everyone else was respectful. Hope things change next time.

"Stayed several nights"

This was a nice hotel with comfortable clean spacious rooms. There was even a ceiling fan, something we rarely see in hotels. Breakfast was more than adequate with eggs as well as cereal. The staff was efficient and friendly. This was one of the closest hotels to Palo Duro Canyon which we were visiting.

The Hotel was quiet and clean, beds were comfortable, room was a nice size. Internet was a little slow. Breakfast was very good. I'd like to see then invest in the curved shower rods, as the shower curtain tended o stick to you and was cold.

The hotel staff are very nice, pleasant and helpful from the minute we stepped into the hotel. We are in Canyon to visit and hike the trails at Palo Duro Canyon which is about 12 miles away, east of Canyon. My husband and I are taking our 2 nephews who are visiting from Malaysia on a tour of some places in Texas. We stayed 2 nights at this hotel and will be leaving in about an hour heading east from here. Christine (deserves a special mention), our day receptionist (with lots of other responsibilities as well, which we discovered during our 2 days here), helped us checked in, recommended places to eat and answered all our questions. The hotel provides a pleasant, clean rooms which (my goodness) has a ceiling fan in addition to the air/heating (we did need the heat as the temp dipped while we are here), good hot breakfast, lots of parking and peace and quiet. A very convenient location to the place we want to get to and to the town. A very nice place to stay for the time we are here. Thanks to all the staff for making the stay a nice one.

"Place is ok! Some staff weren't."

Room was nice and comfortable and had a few extras. We had a good stay until we bumped into a young blonde headed man. We asked him were we could get more towels and he just nodded his head at us and walked off. We didn't pay much attention to him so after that we went down stairs and to see if we could get more towels and some older male was there and he gladly have them to us. Later on when we were leaving we headed towards the elevator and the same young man was there cleaning it. We asked if we could head down to the second floor and he just nodded and gave us a dirty look. That was our only problem other than that our stay was great. Would recommend to others.

Great location near University. Stores and restaurants nearby. Near Palo Doro Canyon, a great place to visit. Amarillo nearby has many restaurants for further choices. You have an opportunity to see college football and other activities.

Good hotel, very clean, spacious room, good breakfast, varied and delicious. Good location to visit the canyon. Staff helpfull and friendly. Well organized hotel. I had some problem to find with my GPS the caddilac ranch and the staff indicated me with precision. The staff gave me all the indications about Palo Duro Canyon. Canyon is a great, and quite village with everything.
