"Descent Hotel"

I was here for an one night stay, for a patient forum education day. The set up is like a rental place, as the room has two queen size beds, a table, a desk, fridge, and TV. This place offers laundry (coin operated washer & dryer) along with a pop/snack & ice machine. Breakfast is included which is always nice, but they could use a bit more hot items. The staff here were friendly. I have to say that for me it is strange to have a room facing the parking lot and that you have to walk outside to get to the lobby, the ice machine and to the restaurant for your breakfast. It was raining during my stay, so I was not a happy camper.

If you're looking for a clean, affordable place to stay without all the bells and whistles, this is your place. Nothing stands out about it except its close proximity to the mall. I have no complaints about the room or the hotel staff itself. The complimentary breakfast was okay but there was something going on with the coffee. It was so bitter it was undrinkable and I am not that picky with coffee. I also think the hotel needs to hire a couple more people to help out for breakfast because there were only two women working the whole place and they seemed overwhelmed. My only other complaint is that I wish the dining room had a lot of small tables rather than a few very large tables. Or if you're going to do that, let us take our food back to the room. If you weren't fortunate to travel with a large group you were forced to have to sit with strangers (an introvert's nightmare). At least with a lot of little tables you an push all the tables together if a large group comes in. But maybe that's just me. However, it is a free breakfast and you get what you pay for I guess.

"Friendly staff, dirty rooms"

When we checked in the lady at the front desk was very kind and helpful, and the breakfast attendants were great as well (though they could benefit from more hot food selections). We stayed for two nights, and on our last night I noticed a huge spider on our bed. Didn't think much of it as were on the ground floor. However, before checking out I noticed under the AC unit there was at least 3 spiders who had created a giant web and were hanging out in our room. It was obvious that cleanliness was limited to towels and sheets, not ensuring that the floors were clean and room free of creepy intruders.

My family and I reserved two hotel rooms three weeks prior to our arrival. When the two rooms were booked, they had led me to believe one of the two rooms would have a kitchen. Upon arrival and check in the refused to provide a room with a kitchen, instead giving us two rooms with two queen size beds. when i asked to speak to a manager a chinese women who so calls her self to be a customer service manager was of no help and when I asked to speak to the general manager, she bounced me around to other employees and finally ended up rolling her eyes. When I finally met with Sharon Tsang the general manager she again was very cocky and was of no help and offer no support to my family which consisted of three elderly seniors. The bed sheets were not changed on a daily basis and the rooms had a strong odour. When I asked the hotel staff about the odour, they offered me candles and febreeze to get rid of the odours. The overall experience has not been the greatest.

At the time of your booking, our front desk agent informed you that we did not have any kitchenette rooms available, but we would let you know if any became available from the time of your call to your arrival, so you booked two two-queen bedrooms instead. We also kept you on our list after you checked-in in the event there were any kitchenette room cancellations during your stay, so we could move you to a kitchenette room if one became available. Because we take room cleanliness seriously, the rooms get inspected again by the managers after the housekeeping team cleans the rooms and changes the sheets; these are done on a daily basis unless the guest has placed the Do Not Disturb sign outside of their door. Whilst I am sorry to hear that the overall experience has not been the greatest, it should be noted that the general manager tried to work with you and offered you solutions for your stay as you were unhappy, but you did not accept any of the offers. This was a great hotel. We stayed for a week. The continental breakfast was great. The pool is heated, which was lovely. Everything in the room was as expected. Since we were there the week we put the do not disturb sign out several days to conserve towel usage.

"Noisy Air Conditioning units"

We recently stayed at the Best Western Plus in Burnaby BC for a family trip to visit the PNE and waterslides. Our stay was very pleasant except for one exception- the air conditioner made a terrible amount of noise and was impossible to have on during the night. I uploaded a video of the noise to share in my review but it is not allowed to be shared here unfortunately. Just know - it was very loud. Can you imagine trying to sleep through that? It was hot so we had to get up and turn it on once in a while but we couldn't keep it on long because of the noise. It made for an interrupted sleep which wasn't pleasant when we were so busy and needed rest. I mentioned it upon checkout but the woman who helped me kind of shrugged and didn't care. Aside from the air conditioner though the stay was pleasant, the staff upon check in were helpful and nice. The pool was great for the kids! They liked having a swim after a hot day at the PNE. The continental breakfast is very good, and definitely makes this hotel have extra points compared to a hotel without this addition as it is a full hot breakfast. Overall it gets a 3 because of the poor sleep my family got in the room, but if that air conditioner hadn't ruined our sleep I would have given it a 5.

"BW tried to make the best of an unfortunate circumstance"

My family stayed at this hotel on August 2. We were awaken by sirens and an explosion around 3am. The vacant building next to the hotel was on fire and we had to evacuate our room due to the close proximity of the fire. We stood outside away from the hotel until the fire was extinguished, about 6am. I have to commend the hotel for trying to make the best of a bad situation. They passed out blankets and snacks while we waited. For those of us who could not return to our rooms at 6am (rooms close to the fire), they quickly found us another room at a different hotel in Burnaby. We were not charged and they left vouchers for us to use for breakfast at a restaurant by the new hotel. The man at the front desk (Manager?) calmly and efficiently took care of guests' needs. It was an unfortunate situation but kudos to the BW employees for trying to take care of their guests in a stressful situation. My only concern is we did not hear a fire alarm (?) but police did alert everyone. Maybe we just didn't hear it in all of the commotion. As far as the room goes, it was clean and comfortable.

Excellent service from the staff. Our room was large and immaculate. Great pool. Close to restaurants and other conveniences. The breakfast that was included was amazing and the staff there was also very efficient and helpful.

"Not bad"

We brought our dog with us, which means we got placed on the noisy ground floor in a "pet friendly" unit. It was quite a high people-traffic area though, and it sounded like everyone was in our unit with us. Of course our dog barks at every noise he hears, so it's no the best solution for pet owners. I would prefer to be in a higher unit away from the noise so we don't end up getting scolded for him being the noisy one. There's also not very many grassy areas for the dogs to go to the bathroom. They did give us a bag full of milk bones and waste sacs though, which was nice. The room temperature was as good, but when we went to bed we found the a/c blew directly towards us making it too cold to be comfortable but you would be too hot without it. The hotel is very conveniently located close to Metropolis at Metrotown, and it has a lovely outdoor pool. The breakfast was great and had many hot and cold options.

"No idea why this sub par hotel gets good ratings...beware"

It's baffling to me why this hotel is rated so high. While a bargain compared to staying in downtown Vancouver (which is how we ended up staying here) it's cut rate. AC, which i am sure most times of the year doesn't matter, is awful. Comes on when it wants, thermostat means nothing. Called front desk, said they would send someone, waited an hour and a half, gave up and proceeded with our plans. Reset it ourselves worked just barely enough to get by during this heatwave. Horrible breakfast. Inside next door restaurant. Basic fare, awful coffee. Room size good, seems clean. But there has to be better options. Management doesn't care about concerns. Find another option.

"It's like home"

We have been staying at this hotel for more than a decade. It's like home. We are always delighted to see Dinesh again. He is unfailingly congenial and helpful. All the staff are most accommodating. We weren't sure how to operate the TV, but help was at he door immediately. (We're non-tech--the TV was perfectly fine.) As always, our room was spacious, clean and quiet. The complimentary breakfast buffet couldn't have been more varied. Hot and cold choices available. The efficient crew are constantly cleaning and replenishing. We wouldn't stay anywhere else and are looking forward to stopping in again in two weeks.

"Good hotel"

The room has a great space. Bathroom is spacious,too. The only problem for me was the carpet that ruined my allergy. Don't expect a fantastic breakfast. It's served at a place right after the lobby that works as a Chinese restaurant at night. Location is something very positive. You can go to the mall on foot.

"Comfy bed"

We stayed here one night and had a very good experience. The front desk staff was friendly, the room was spacious, and the King-sized bed enormous and very comfortable. Four stars instead of five because the fridge in our room made a very loud sounds every time the compressor kicked on or off. It startled me awake a several times during the night. The exercise room in the next building over was your average tiny space, but I was happy to find free weights, a few pieces of well-maintained equipment, and good a/c. The breakfast was fine. Good coffee.

"Very comfortable stay 10/10"

My fiancé and I had a lovely time staying here! They provided a hot breakfast and you could make your own waffles with their waffle maker, they also had a pancake maker as well if you wanted to have that instead. We stayed in a corner room that had a full kitchen and we were glad we did because it gave us access to a kettle for tea and a fridge to put our food in.

After a long day it was nice to arrive to the hotel knowing that my room was gonna be clean and quiet. I liked that it was close to a supermarket in case I needed something and also the restaurant in the hotel. Overall I really enjoyed my stay and I will use this location for my next trip to Vancouver .

We often stay in Best Western properties, but sometimes they can be hit and miss in terms of how well kept they are, but we were pleasantly surprised by this location! It was obvious the moment we arrived in the lobby that renovations have recently been completed. Front desk staff were friendly and efficient. Location was convenient and it didn't take us long to get in to the city for touring around. The rooms were very clean, modern and nicely outfitted with comfortable beds (considering I have back issues). We also liked having our own exterior door in to the parking lot. The kids loved the outdoor pool and the hot breakfast that was included in the attached Chinese restaurant was a nice bonus! We would definitely consider staying here again for a trip down to the coast.

"Wedding"

The value for a nights stay is excellent for Vancouver. The beds are very comfortable and I say that for a person who has had 3 back surgeries and need a good bed to sleep in. They have some of the best pillows of any hotel I've stayed in. I find the rooms very clean. The breakfast is comparable to those at any hotel. The staff is right on the money. We have stayed at the best western in North van and found it very nice as well and the one in Kelowna as well going on 13 yrs. If we can we ALWAYS stay at them because of the above reasons. And this one has been totally updated since our stay last year and it looks wonderful! Thank you to all who keep these hotels running as well as you do!

"Not up to our expectations"

Stayed one night while waiting for a room elsewhere. The bed was uncomfortable and only a standard double bed. Cleanliness in the room was ok but the breakfast restaurant was poor. The floor was sticky underfoot and not a good feel first thing in the morning. Food was average only. Won't be going back.

"Excellent rate for Vancouver"

We had despaired of finding somewhere reasonable in Vancouver for 4 nights until a friend recommended this place in Burnaby. The rate was much less than other similar hotels in the area. I was a little concerned about the area but should not have been. People were walking around the area until late at night with no issues and the hotel is only 4 blocks from Metrotown and the Royal Oak Skytrain. Our room was not that big but it was clean and quite modern. We had a small fridge and a coffee maker and free Wifi. Check-in was reasonable but quite complicated compared to other hotels. The front desk staff would not let my wife check-in for us even though we shared the same credit card that had made the booking. Not sure what the issue was since I was just outside the front glass door looking after the kids. We were at the back of the hotel so it was quiet. Breakfast was quite good but the hot breakfast was cold on one day and on another there was no coffee. The place was busy but there must have been 6 staff working so not sure why things were allowed to get cold or be in short supply. There is plenty of parking and the kids really enjoyed splashing about in the pool.

My family and I spent 2 nights at Best Western Plus Burnaby, Canada. Our stayed there was very comfortable. Rooms were clean, comfortable beds, good internet access for all of our devices. The breakfast options were good and the hotel staff was friendly.

Older Hotel but clean and very nice staff! Typical Best Western breakfast. Location is very good along Kingsway and an easy commute to Vancouver. Be aware it's only 14 kms but the traffic lights make it a 40 minute drive!

We recommend taking the SkyTrain instead of driving during these times as there is no road traffic and lights to deal with, therefore allowing you to reach downtown Vancouver faster (roughly 17 to 21 minutes). "Two night visit to Burnaby"

This Best Western has almost finished its renovations to the rooms and property. I was very impressed with the new interior. My room was towards the back of the lot, so I did not hear much of the traffic on Kingsway. The breakfast was a little confusing, some items were not refilled fast enough, but I believe this to be starting-up problems, trying to get the kinks out of the service. I asked for something and it was brought to me in minutes, So keep up the improvements.

"Good quality-price and convenient"

Since I had many bad experiences with hotels, this industry kinda lost me as we now have other b&b options, but I gave a chance to this hotel as Vancouver area is generally overpriced and this one had decent offers. We had a nice spacious studio, free parking for our rental car, good Wifi, correct breakfast, easy access to nearby Skytrain to avoid traffic or parking fees downtown, and some restaurants around. For me better than paying twice the price downtown when you want to visit other nice locations around the city.

"Great comfort no far from Skytrain"

Recently renovated with a great breakfast, nice pool, great breakfast smoking rooms if you wish, very helping staff and rooms with more privacy in the back. The breakfast place is a nice chinese restaurant at night. 10 min walk from Skytrain. Close to lots of restaurants and grocery

"No plus in this seedy motel"

How can you call a place a Best Western Plus Hotel and Conference Centre when their is no plus, it is a motel, not a hotel, and there is no conference centre? We arrived for a two-night booking in a queen room after a long travel day only to find it small, musty, and noisy with a dirty towel hanging on the back of the bathroom door. The carpet needs a good cleaning, the sheets are thin and dingy, the room is dark and uninviting, and the neighborhood is run down. The only positives were the free parking and the hot breakfast. We booked out after one night - the front desk were very apologetic although very slow to complete the checkout process.

Stayed just one night while attending a function at Metrotown Burnaby and a few visits in the area. Very comfortable room and quiet, even though we were close to the main road. Excellent breakfast - pleasant and cheerful staff at reception and in the breakfast room. They recommended Bonny's taxis but Bonny's kept us waiting nearly an hour after assuring us of 10-15 mins wait. Certainly not the hotel's fault but it was their recommendation.

Stayed last 3 nights of our vacation here and found the staff and amenities to be of a high standard. Our room was quiet and the bed comfortable and we enjoyed a good nights sleep. The grounds are well kept as was the rest of the hotel. Unlike other hotels this one allowed us to pay up front and put a small authorisation on our card for incidentals which was much appreciated. Would stay again if in the area.

I stayed in 315 and had a quiet room at the back of the building. The room was clean and comfortable. The bed was very comfortable as well. Check in was quick and easy and the internet was fast and reliable. Totally worth the stay. My only complaint was that it smelt stale when I walked into the room and you could see outside from the bottom of the door.

Recently renovated clean rooms. Great included breakfast. Scrambled eggs were hot, quality breads for toast and pastries. Usual choices for food and fresh fruit. Enjoyed traveling away from the rush hour traffic to and from the ferry and a quick getaway in the am to the Fraser Valley and back to the Interior of BC. Good value overall.

Really enjoyed staying at this Hotel. Staff very helpful with my Wifi and very knowledgeable re:local transportation and directions to Sky-Train for example. Amazing because it has a Gym, a Computer Room and Laundry. Outdoor Swimming Pool. Rooms very comfortable. Breakfast was included.

Pleasant stay. Room was clean and the location was very good. The breakfast was a buffet with scrambled eggs and one morning there was bacon. Not crazy about the sausages, but the rest of the buffet was good. Sure wish they didn't serve frozen butter.

Although they did extensive renos to this hotel awhile ago, the "old bones" of the building are still apparent in the paper thin walls, musty smell and room "fixtures." The room features a fridge, but we had to unplug it in order to sleep. However, the beds were very comfortable. Great hot breakfast (eggs, bacon, waffles, etc.) and friendly staff.

Unfortunately, you may still hear some noise if you are located on the ground level, in an adjoining room, and through the door. For a quieter stay, we recommend requesting a room on the upper level and near the back of the property. I recently stayed here and found the following: The good: - It's a good location - Safeway is right there, walking distance to the mall / bus terminal - The service was good. They were helpful with everything I asked - Breakfast was included - Hotel wifi was sufficiently fast - They give you sufficient coffee in your room. If you're from out of town and on a different time zone this is actually quite nice. The ok: - Don't expect the lights to go on quickly. My room's light was really anemic. It will eventually get brighter. Doesn't leave a good first impression but it's fine The bad: - The walls are really thin. I could forever hear cars / people outside my room until I put earplugs in - The room I was in looked very very aged. I'm not one who typically cares but it's very dark.

Our stay in Burnaby at the Best Western Plus was excellent . The front desk clerk was welcoming and friendly and the check in went smoothly. Our two night stay was comfortable. Room was clean and had a large fridge. Bed was very comfortable with a lot of pillows. Breakfast buffet adjacent to restaurant was varied and filling. Walking distance to Metrotown mall and the sky train to get to DT Vancouver. Grocery store next door. I would recommend this hotel to everyone.

Front Desk personnel very helpful, friendly and caring. Room was exceptionally clean and inviting and window looked out onto courtyard. Bed was very comfortable, which was appreciated after a long day's drive through snowy weather on Hwy.1. Breakfast buffet adjacent to restaurant was varied and filling. On checkout, without our requesting, front desk personnel looked up location we were looking for and printed out map and gave us the quickest directions. We were quite surprised at quietness of room and ease of access considering hotel is located on busy Kingsway. We will definitely stay here again and will recommend it to others.

Our stay in Burnaby at the Best Western was exceptional. The front desk clerk was welcoming and friendly and the check in went smoothly. Our two night stay was comfortable and the staff throughout the hotel; maids and breakfast attendants were all friendly, courteous and helpful. I would recommend this hotel to everyone.

This hotel is close to BCIT and the Trans Canada. The room was clean and the free breakfast at the restaurant was great. Parking is ok for cars and pickups but there is no room if you are towing a trailer.

The team at BW Plus Burnaby was extremely helpful - from reception, to housekeeping, & the restaurant. All went out of their way to help us, chat with us, etc. Washers and dryers were all working. Perfect for an extended family break. Definitely coming back!

rooms are average but is in a great location and offered good hot breakfast. everything is within walking distance metrotown mall within 1km, and you can use the gym for free right across the street. multiple restaurants open 24 hrs within walking distance.

We stayed at the BW Burnaby Hotel on our trip to Vancouver, BC. The hotel is older but well kept, the room was clean and all amenity's worked as they should. The internet seemed to work well and the hot breakfast was quite acceptable. I would not hesitate to stay at the BW Burnaby again.

We needed a nice, quiet place to stay on Boxing Day and this totally fit the bill. We used hotels.com to make the registration, and were pleasantly surprised by friendly and helpful staff. The front desk person, Aruna, was helpful and courteous. The room was comfortable and clean. Good coffee in the room, too. We were surprised by the hot breakfast - a lot of items to choose from, and the attendants were constantly refilling any empty dishes with fresh food. Would highly recommend this hotel to everyone.

The Hotel Staff were very helpful. Our reservation had somehow disappeared, however the Staff were able to accomadate us with our needs. The room was decent, it could use a few upgrades but all in all, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place or to stay here again should the need arise. The complimentary breakfast was very good with plenty of options for every taste. The only thing I would suggest is to bring a hair dryer if you use one as the one in the room had the shortest cord I have ever seen and in fact I had to stand very close to the outlet in order to dry my hair.

Stayed for 2nights for my appointment in downtown Vancouver. This hotel has a good location for everything you needed - walking distance to the city train, to restaurants and groceries. While staying in this hotel during a time of bereavement in my family, I was in bed at night and experienced a nose bleed. I quickly rinsed the pillow case and sheet in cold water and I applied a bit of soap. I left the linen in the bath tub and phoned the front desk for a fresh bed sheet and pillow, which were promptly brought to my room. Kind, helpful staff. I recommend Best Western.

Our overall experience at this hotel was a pleasure. We enjoyed our time here and the breakfast was good. The location is close to everywhere in Vancouver. Only a 30 minute drive to downtown and Cypress Mountain. We will definitely stay here again when we are back in town.

The rooms were a good size and I loved that breakfast was included. There was a good selection however, it was the same every day. The décor was a little outdated but what I liked best was that it was in close proximity of the MetroTown Mall, the Skytrain and on a major roadway for catching the transit

Very comfortable stay with reasonable charges. Clean The staff are helpful. Better stay than much more rated class 5 hotels. I will be staying there any time I am visiting Vancouver. The overall renovation brought this hotel to better than class 5 hotel. I tried the single rooms and suites. The value of both is reasonable. You park the car within reach in all spotless environment.

"Clean room - but very average"

Nice clean room which has the very basics in there! Seemed quite old fashioned and needs a bit of a refresh, however as mentioned it was nice and clean and it was only a stop over on a road trip! No lifts so if your room is upstairs, be prepared to carry your heavy suitcase if you have one up a flight of stairs!

"Good value for one-night business stay"

Spent the night here on a short business trip. The room was clean and quiet, the staff was friendly and helpful, and I enjoyed having a no-frills room to myself. The Chinese restaurant in the building is surprisingly good and reasonably priced. Only word of warning: The hotel is right next to Kingsway Blvd, a very busy main road, and there is a lot of road noise there. Get a room toward the back of the hotel if you can - my room was quiet, but I imagine rooms toward the front may be pretty noisy.

Being located on Kingsway means guests who drive can easily travel throughout Metro Vancouver, as Kingsway is a main traffic artery. Other aspects of our hotel's location that guests also like are our close proximity to Canada's third-largest shopping mall, Metrotown, which is about an 8-minute bus ride or a 15-minute walk away, and the multitude of dining options that surround our hotel. The walls of our guest rooms have been soundproofed as part of our hotel's major renovation update. "Nice pool , fantastic breakfast!"

Staff , front desk and chamber maids friendly and helpful. Pool area clean and well stocked with towels. Rooms were a little small, but clean and comfortable. They had a good selection of hot foods at the breakfast table. When we stayed there they had use of the Chinese restaurant next door, I understand they have since opened the breakfast in the front lobby area: stayed here for a week in August for a wedding, close to lots of restaurants and walking distance to Metro Town the largest shopping centre in Vancouver.

The front desk service was excellent, helpful and friendly. The rooms are your stand rooms, nothing different then any other Best Western. The TVs are modern and clear, the bathrooms had lots of towels, shampoo, conditioner and body lotion provided which I loved! The layout of the hotel is a bit funky, not really well thought out. There are no interior hallways, and you have to walk around the building to get to the lobby, the restaurant, which when it is pouring out, which it was, was not ideal. The hotel had lots of parking and the parking lot was easy to maneuver, and seeing as I have a big black dodge it made life easier. I would stay there again.

Good rooms, clean and well kept property. Good laundry amenities for use, breakfast was good but basic. Located in walking distance to the largest mall I believe in Canada so plenty of options to cover all shopping needs there.

"Clean and Comfortable BW on Kingsway"

Stayed 3 nights at this location to visit family in the area. Nicely renovated hotel. Requested a quiet location which we got next to the pool. There are lots of restaurants close by, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Sushi, KFC, White Spot, and a Safeway and it's about a 10 minute walk to Metrotown shopping mall. The free breakfast is served in the attached restaurant by friendly staff and the selection you expect from Best Western. Everything about our stay was as expected and we would stay again when in the area.

"Great hotel despite location"

Despite the fact that it surrounded by a supermarket (safeway) and other things that made me thought that the place might be in the low range of hotel....it is NOT.... the hotel seems to have been remodeled recently and that's great, friendly staff, and rooms were clean everything was perfect, I was on a business trip and I had enough room to work.

"Wonderful property"

This is a nicely furnished and maintained property. Our requests for aground floor, pet friendly room were happily granted. Rooms have kitchenette. We even received treats for our pet, and a nice poop bag holder. Breakfast as varied and delicious. Kingsway is a bit noisy if the room is close to the street. Not much to do or see in the area, so a car is a must. Pretty far from downtown Vancouver, but city transportation runs in front of the hotel. We will stay here again!

We stayed here for two nights. It is a few blocks away from a Sky Train stop. There are grocery stores nearby. We had a car so we could drive to downtown Vancouver and the sites there. The pool was closed because it is outdoor. Breakfast is in a chinese restaurant next door.

I go out of my way to stay at best western when travelling as I always know what to expect from them. This trip was no exception. I was especially please with the beds. The mattress was comfortable and the pillows and duvet were cool and very soft.

"Great Hotel with good value - sketchy area of Burnaby."

During my stay this time there was an untargeted (random) stabbing at the Oyama Sushi Restaurant on Kingsway a block away from this hotel. I usually walk all the time by myself in this area when I am frequently staying at this hotel for business. I have become not-so-comfortable walking by myself in the area now and likely won't.

Investigators believe that the public is not at risk: According to the police, there was an altercation leading up to the events at Sushi Oyama around 11:30 pm, and three men were stabbed as a result. The suspect was arrested at a convenience store across the street shortly after. The safety of our guests is important to us, and we take guest safety very seriously; we have security guards on-site and security cameras installed throughout our property, and our security team will do their best to have any situation resolved quickly if there are any reports. Excellent location, close to great shopping, great restaurants, and easy access to downtown Vancouver. Updated motel with nicely done renovations. Our bathroom could have stood a bit more renewing. Included breakfast buffet is more than adequate. The staff is the best!

My husband and I stayed here for one night. The room was clean, but in need of updating. The bathroom was functional. The bed was not too comfortable. I was happy we were only staying the one night. Check-in and out were easy and the front desk staff was good.

Very clean & well-maintained property. Nice quiet room, spotlessly clean. A/C worked well. Didn't use pool or gym, but both looked inviting. Typical BW breakfast, but all fresh & very obliging staff. Overall, beating high prices of Vancouver was very pleasant!

We stayed at this hotel for 7 of our 16 night trip to BC Canada in August 2017. The hotel is very convenient to stay for the airport and Vancouver city. Located all around the hotel are plenty of eating places, restaurants, fast food and supermarkets within a few mins walk and drive. 5 mins drive from the hotel is the biggest shopping mall in BC. The rooms are very comfortable, clean and have all the amenities. There is plenty of free parking at the hotel. Breakfast included in the room rate is very good and has many different choices of hot and cold breakfast items including eggs, Waffles and pancakes and plenty of it. The staff are very helpful and they gave us very good service. One of them in particular, Dinesh made our stay even better with help to change our reservations due to our change of plans during the busiest travel periods. He offered us better rates than what we could get through an agent and thereby saved us a good amount of money plus got us lots of BW reward points. All the other staff were always willing to help with our requests. The hotel guest laundry is also a convenient amenity. Overall a superb hotel to stay at if you are visiting the Vancouver area.

Hotel was quiet and clean. I managed to get the last room of the hotel during the long weekend but I had to wait until 5 pm to check in. I could have used some hot oatmeal and some hashbrowns with breakfast and the bed was a bit too hard for me, but overall the one night stay was good.

This hotel was beautiful to stay at. Rooms were very clean. The grounds are well maintianed. The swimming pool was wonderful to hang out at. This hotel is within walking distance to the Metro Polis Mall. There is get food places to eat at. The only problem I had was the wi fi was not very strong in the room. Had to go to the lobby.

This is an older motel style accommodation that has been refurbished inside and out. It was very well maintained. The beds were comfortable. The breakfast was next door at a restaurant where there was lots of room to sit and the staff were excellent at keeping items replenished. There was no hot tub and unfortunately the pool was out of service 2 nights we stayed there. The gym was small but newer equipment. The location is somewhat awkward to get to because of traffic rules about turning, but a 5 min drive from Metrotown mall and train.

Good room although hotel appears unimpressive. Breakfast items were more or less the same over 5 days - this certainly needs to change. The rate should have been 25% lower to give value for money. The hotel is within a km of a transport hub and a mall. The hotel met my needs, so would stay there again.

For the price, the value is great. The room is spacious and it's location is good. Below is a really good Chinese restaurant. The same restaurant that serves the hotels breakfast. A 15 minute walk would take you to one of the largest malls in the country - Metropolis Mall. Worth the price

This hotel under new management is updating the lobby and restaurant area. Same attention given to updating rooms will be a great development. Room was not clean to typical BW standards yet hopefully that will change as updating continues across the complex. Very convenient location using Kingsway Road as a straight access to downtown Vancouver and other sights.

The king suite had a comfortable bed, pillows, kitchen and spacious. The guests seemed to be enjoying the outdoor pool. Unfortunately we did not have time to swim. The breakfast was not good. Very close to Metrotown and was a great location for our needs for this trip.

"Excellent stay"

During my stay here at the Best Western I was amazed by the friendly front desk staff, it had made me feel very welcomed. When we had got to out room i was amazed by how it was laid out. Very modern lay out it was a nice feeling. Since I had drove 5 hours to get to the hotel seeing as i was visitng form out of town ., i couldnt wait to climb into bed and was i ever satisfied with how comfy the bed was. Overall i would stay here all the time.

Staff very friendly and efficient . Rooms clean. Outdoor pool really nice to have a relaxing afternoon. Good location easy to get around . A lot of restaurants near by. Lobby nice and clean. Ok Breakfast.

Good hotel but they must start making rooms earlier because it is not normal to get the room at 5:00pm on a Monday. Room was good and breakfast was very good. Well situated and easy to get to to downtown.

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The rooms are large and modern, with comfortable beds, good pillows, excellent AC. The pool is small but clean and well maintained. The free breakfast buffet was great - scrambled eggs, sausage, pancakes, waffles, etc. The only thing that made me uncomfortable at first was that there is no inner hallway so the rooms are accessible via the outside only, like a motel. That being said, we didn't have any issues and the area seems pretty safe anyways.

We stayed here in two double rooms for 7 nights. Room itself was clean. However we were unable to walk on the carpet barefooted as it was really dirty. Our feet were black without shoes in both rooms. We believe that this was because the room that we had was within walking distance to the swimming pool and people were walking to and from the pool barefooted. Regardless of this, the room was spacious with good hanging space, tea and coffee facilities, and a very good sized fridge. The location is also ideal. Metro town is within walking distance as is the sky train. Safeway is even closer for your grocery needs. If you have a car, there is free parking for guests too. We couldn't fault the breakfast which is included. There's a great range from fresh made pancakes, waffles, cereals, yougurts as well as scramble ends, bacon and sausages. Reception staff were very friendly. Housekeeping staff unfortunately were not all very friendly but I believe that this was down to a communication issue with me being British and the staff member in question not understanding what it was that I required. All in all, a great stay.. just a pity about the dirty carpet!!

Friendly staff, great breakfast options included in room rates, comfortable and clean rooms, quiet neighbourhood, good internet connection, swimming pool, close proximity to city transport, hotels and shopping. We were able to enjoy great views of the mountains from our room too.

I wish I knew the name of the Front Desk representatives who helped me withCheck-in on my first and second night. Both were Exemplary!!! The first night, we were placed near the pool, as the rep knew I was with my young son. We were so happy with our stay the first night, we spontaneously stayed a second. The front desk clerk went above and beyond and was able to secure us a room near the pool again!

"Best Western- good place to go"

We were on vacation and found this place. Brand new hotel. Lots of parking. Nicely decorated rooms, good- comfy beds, good TV, fast- free wifi. Don't like the bathroom set up but well equipped shower/ toilet and double sinks outside shower area. Includes a really good Continental breakfast with hot eggs and everything else you could need. Dining area turns into an Oriental restaurant at night. Markets, drug stores, pubs nearby and Timmies a mile east. Very friendly staff. Have laundry facilities too.

Staff very friendly and helpful. Room was nice and clean. Good lighting, internet, comfy beds. Hotel is well situated. Very handy to Metro Towne mall, sky train, Safeways. Would definitely stay again.

My family and I stayed 4 nights in this hotel as part of our vacation. The room was clean but we don't like the location. Our main concern was the breakfast. The area for breakfast had 2 sections with different size of tables. Due to large tables, one section was not opened all the time even at the time with more than one section. So, one time a guy had to sit beside me with a different style and habit. More sounds during eating. Also, most of tables had not table cloth. Weired. The forks and knives were not the same size. It could be easily upgrade with a new manager.

Many of our guests enjoy our hotel's central location, because we are close to shopping, dining, and transit. We have a bus stop right outside of our hotel and are only an eight-minute bus ride away from Metrotown shopping mall, and a short walk away from grocery stores, restaurants, and direct SkyTrain access at Royal Oak Station. This means that guests can easily travel throughout Metro Vancouver and get to sites of interest without a car. I am sorry to hear that you were not happy with the breakfast arrangement. We do not own the on-site restaurant; we are simply borrowing their premises to serve our guests breakfast in, so the dining arrangement is not up to us. If the dining area is “full”, we encourage guests to sit with others at the communal tables, engage in conversation, and perhaps even make a new friend! However, I understand if this is not something you're interested in, and hope that this has not taken away from your stay. Clean rooms and property, decent prices, convenient location, really good breakfast, fast wifi, friendly front desk, what's not to like? Rooms are very quiet, virtyally no noise from Kingsway. Would stay there again if the need arose.

This is a decent hotel in a very convenient place for a visit to Vancouver. Clean rooms and friendly and helpful staff. We had noisy neighbour first night, and although he checked out the staff relocated us to a quieter room anyway. All you can eat breakfast included on site. Mall and Skytrain just a short walk, pubs and shops very close. Plenty of parking. I will definitely use this motel every time I want to visit Vancouver.

Small, exposed swimming pool, but we were too busy to use. Carpets were only thing bringing cleanliness rating down from excellent. Microwaves available upon request, but refrigerators already in room.

Excellent location with friendly staff and full hot bfast included daily in adjoining restraunt. Rooms nice and clean. Outdoor heated pool. Hard to find parking if returning late at night that was close to room. No microwave in room either.

Nice Rooms with excellent Breakfast. Nice Staff. Good Location, easy access to restaurants and other amenities. Near to city. Easy access to other attractions. No microwave in the roooms, but provided on request. No Hotpools.

Very overpriced for the quality of the accommodations. The area was sketchy with not a lot to see around the hotel especially within walking distance. This was essentially a motel where my room door opened to the outdoors. While I was there, another patron had their car broken into.

So due to the overly-inflated room prices in the lower mainland, The best western Kingsway seemed like a >>more<< reasonably priced alternative... and it delivered. Not exactly a 5-star hotel, but it's a motel that is close to all the amenities including a skytrain station a mere 2.5 blocks away, shopping and great multi-cultural dining (see my other posts). It is a refurbished older motel and still needs a few upgrades (toilet), but it's clean, has great beds and pillows and has good customer service. All in all, a great stay. Maybe next time we'll have time to use the pool and weight room.

Your average two-storey multiple building complex hotel. typical size room. Everything works, breakfast and free goodies for reward members. Front desk friendly and tries her best to help. "Family operation" feel to it. Parking can be a challenge if full occupancy. Vancouver is NOT cheap in June. This hotel is expensive to my taste.

Nice hotel, big spacious rooms. Good breakfast. Front office staff was efficient and friendly and helpful. Gave us late check out. Close to metrotown mall and Royal Oak Station. Aprx 15 mins walking. Paid Aprx 220 cad which is too much, so if u guys get holiday inn express at metropolis metrotown mall at same rate then that is much better, honest advice. But over hotel was good.

Hotel is outdated but still good for your trip. We got a warm and friendly welcome after the long trip. I like to give a thumb up to the supportive receptionist who checked us in but forgot her name. The breakfast is actually more than good enough for the start of the day.

We returned to this hotel again on this visit and it was even better than before as the modifications are finished and everything was working well. Breakfast was excellent as always with plenty of choice and great food and lots of food. Really enjoyable visit but the fridge was noisy; they will deal with it!!

We stayed four nights at this hotel. Likely because we used a discount rate we were allocated an older room. (Many rooms are being renovated. ) Our room was dated to say the least but was clean and comfortable enough apart from noise from adjacent rooms and those above. Ask for an upstairs room. Breakfast was very good. Plenty of free parking. Location was convenient for touring around Vancouver.

"No Frills accommodation "

I really don't have an issue with this hotel other than the price. However I do realise this is the going rate for a hotel in Vancouver in June. But the quality of the hotel and stay is definitely far less than the nightly rate paid and thats me being polite. No Frills hotel with acceptable standards, but not somewhere you would want to stay longer than two days. Espesially with kids. On a side note the Chinese restaurant that is attached to the hotel is outstanding. Don't be put off by the fact you eat your breakfast there.

Well located just steps from the skytrain. Rooms are large and comfortable. Very tasty breakfast including many choices. Good hotel for one or two nights. The hotel does not have a gym but offers free passes for one that is nearby.

Have stayed here a few times for work and have not had any issues. Front desk attendants are kind and helpful and the rooms were clean. They offer free breakfast and parking. It is in walking distance of many restaurants and the mall.

The staff were all helpful, the room was clean, breakfast was very good. They gave an extra hello kitty necklace to my daughter (5 years old) and she was very excited. We forgot dish soap for our 1 year old baby bottles and they were quick to lend us a bottle. Excellent staff at both breakfast and main hotel.

The room was clean, the bed was firm and comfortable. The service was fast and helpful. It was an hour's walk from where I needed to be, but the next nearest competitor was much more expensive. I don't regret my decision to stay here at all, despite the distance.

This is my 2rd time here and the new look was great I with my mum so we had a suite with a fridge stove microwave and a couch bed for my mum we had a great time staying here and now they have Telus tv which was great the hot breakfast was good just wish they had bacon more the staff was great easy check in and check out and the house keeping was great they were always helpful and cheerful I would like to thank you for the great stay

They had a great breakfast and very nice room. The kitchen in our suite made the stay better and easier. Pool was a great bonus for the kids to play in. Super close to the metro town mall, food and other stores.

We have returned twice to this hotel now. 20 minute drive to most needed vacation spots for vancouver. Kids love the pool and the new renovations give the place a modern cozy feeling. The free breakfast is always good with variety of food. Staff is very friendly, even the maids smile and say hello. Also.. onviently located a block from the best shopping mall in Vancouver. Happy wife, happy life.

BW Kings Inn was a good choice for a restful stay for a business meeting. Our room was clean, welcoming and comfortable. Traffic noise was minimal as we were at the back of the building. An excellent hot breakfast was provided in an adjoining building. Front desk staff were pleasant but could be more helpful. Breakfast staff were excellent. This hotel has many Asian clients and staff are all multilingual. The restaurant, when not the breakfast buffet, is traditional Chinese and the food is very good.

My organization held a conference at this hotel in May. The communication between the organizers and the event coordinator was almost non-existent, unless someone was right in front of her. Luckily we had a person near enough to do just that as we organized our event. Once the event was in progress, Vivian was right there and very helpful. There was an extremely rude front desk man who could not be bothered to answer simple questions if they pertained to the group event, instead one had to wait while he called the event coordinator, Vivian. This was a serious waste of my time, I was already pressed for time taking care of some of the final bits and pieces of the event. The worst was the banquet at the end of this two day event. The food was delicious, by the way. The hotel did not have enough staff to actually cater and serve this event. The bartender was trying to do the whole thing. He had to close the bar early, after starting late because no one had seen fit to give him the cash to open his bar on time, so he could go serve and carve at the buffet line. Vivian, the event coordinator, came and helped serve. There were 80 people for the banquet. Two people is just not enough for this kind of event. On a more mundane note, the breakfast that came with the hotel rooms was so-so. The rooms that I saw for this hotel are rather on the small side, so keep that in mind. I would not recommend this hotel for a large event unless and until they get more staff to help with the actual meals. And get rid of Mister Unhelpful at the front desk, the rest of the front desk staff were very accommodating.

Spent 10 days at this hotel while a relative recovered from surgery. Had 2 connecting king-size rooms both with refrigerator and microwave. Beds comfortable, rooms clean, staff very helpful and kind (my recovering niece received flowers from staff). Close to lots of restaurants and 300 metres from a Safeway. I km from a huge mall with a Superstore. Relatively poor sound insulation between rooms - could hear people running around outside and upstairs and my niece's room had a closed connecting door with another room and she could hear the people laughing and yelling and crying. With the bathroom fan and climate control fans on she could muffle the sounds. Place became quiet enough late evening to sleep. There is a fitness centre and a laundry room for guests! Burnaby is a fabulous place to visit and because of the great location of this motel and the staff, we would stay again.

We have been going to this hotel for 29 years now and I don't think we have ever had a bad stay, It is a high end place with an amazing indoor pool and hot tub surrounded by lush vegetation and waterfalls. If you go there with kids ask for a first floor room with the door opening to the pool, if you go as a couple get a balcony room that has views of the pool. Then you can sit out on your balcony with an glass of wine and imagine you are on a tropical vacation. We always request room 211 and every time we go it is like coming home.

What should have been a nice celebration of two birthdays and Mothers Day turned in to a very unpleasant experience, My family fron out of town expected the Queen Suite with kitchen and hide-a-bed to be suitable for two adults and 3 small Children. They checked in then joined other family for diner. The children were put to bed in the queen bed; but when the parent pulled out the hide-a-bed they found the sheets moth eaten, dirty, dusty and yellow with age.

Very nice place to stay. Front desk staff was very friendly. There was 24 hour security staff on-site. The company did not "cheap out" on facility maintenance. All staff were very friendly and accommodating -- clearly good management. If staff is happy, that usually means good management. One of the best complementary breakfasts I've been served. I would stay there again.

The grounds were nice and the room was clean but a bit on the small side (we had a standard king room). The toilet was loud when flushed. Pillows weren't the most comfortable but the bed was. Front end restaurant staff were very friendly. The window didn't open and we weren't able to get the room any cooler than 22 C. Great shower head with lots of hot water, though. Overall, not the perfect room but it served our purpose well, was in a good location, and parking was free. Didn't notice the street noise at all.

This would have been a great place if was a bit cheeper. Staff were ok. Beds awful. Brecky good. Pool was closed only open in summer. Room stunk. Had a prostitute knock on room door at 1 am. Reported to security. The security guards were amazing.

Lower price hotel in the Burnaby area and you get what you pay for. Standard hotel, nothing too special about it. The rooms could use an update. The service was good at check in, we had to wait a little bit due to someone else in front of us that were taking awhile.

Hotel is fine and pet-friendly although a bad location for dog walks. Decent place to stay but enjoy breakfast somewhere else! 10 minute fast walk to Skytrain - good. I'm not sure why the continental, packaged, bland and sugary breakfast is considered a selling point at hotels in this price range!

Alternatively, instead of walking to Royal Oak Station, you can also board the 106 Metrotown Stn bus, which stops right outside of our hotel, that will bring you to Metrotown in about eight minutes, where you can transfer to the SkyTrain or another bus to get around the Metro Vancouver Area. There is a park nearby about an eight-minute walk away where you can walk your dog at called Kisbey Park, and across from it is Deer Lake Park. We are also planning to have some landscaping done to make our property more dog-friendly. They NEED COFFEE CUP LIDS! In my 30 years travelling, I have never seen ANY hotel not have cup lids! At Bfast, the pancake station and waffle station was never up and working at opening. And breakfast never started at 6:30 AM as advertised. This made me scramble for work so I wasn't LATE!! BTW - Finish that Lobby Cafe area!!

I've stayed here three times now and like being close to the Metropolis mall and many restaurants. The exterior was undergoing a major remodel the first two times I stayed. I was glad to see the remodel is now complete and it looks nice. Each room has an exterior entrance but I've noticed on several occasions that people hangout outside their room to smoke and talk. Though the interior walls block most of the noise from adjoining rooms, conversations from the smokers comes straight in through the door. The morning breakfast has always been better than most 'free breakfast' hotels. Breakfast opens at 7:00am.

I have stayed there numerous times, solo and with family and though it is a fair way from downtown, it is comfortable. Now that the major renos are done, they need to work on all areas being consistent. The last time we stayed there previous to this visit, the rooms and staff weren't that impressive, but the young man in the breakfast area was outstanding. This visit, I found Dinesh at the front desk was outstanding. I arrived without reservation and he was very helpful in accommodating me. Unfortunately I had to cut my stay short after one night, but he was understanding and had me checked out in short order. Thanks Dinesh. Rooms are very nice now thought the fridge in my room was very loud. The breakfast on the other hand was very disappointing. What happened to the great young man that was there before? Everything was full and hot and he was always going around making sure everyone was happy. This visit, there was one other family in the dining area and when I got to the serving area, there was a bit of over cooked eggs, no bacon or coffee. I asked the staff member where everything was, but her mouth was so full of food she couldn't talk. Maybe where all the bacon went? Had a long wait for bacon, no new eggs arrived and when they finally brought coffee, my cup was filled with coffee grounds. I usually leave a decent tip, but not this day. I would recommend this location and will continue to stay there, but it would be nice if it was a great experience in all areas.

I stayed 6 nts in a room with 2 queen beds. pros~ This hotel/motel is not too expensive being it's the lower mainland (no toll bridges to pay when going into Van.) The staff were all accommodating & delightful.Clean,spacious room with very comfortable beds.Buffet bkfst was pancakes,waffles,scrambled & hard boiled eggs,ham slices,& either bacon or sausages,cereals,yogarts,yummy pastries,breads,limited fruit,juice,good coffee,decent breakfast.New lobby,which wasn't finished yet,is already awesome.It is walkable to Safeway,all sorts of stores & restaurants. Metrotown mall was a few minutes away by car. The sky train is at the Metro Mall.I can't comment on bus service but there is lots of parking at the hotel. cons~ no microwave in the room would be my biggest complaint.I thought $12.00 to rent a movie is too much,so didn't.Slighty sketchy area,but I felt safe to walk alone,even at night.

We visited the "King" earlier this year and, while it was quite enjoyable the state of the building in progress made the place a "little" hazardous. Well the work has been finished except for a little in the new lobby and it would be really worthwhile staying there if you wanted somewhere in the Vancouver area. Breakfast was excellent as before; staff were also excellent and the room was very comfortable. The only complaints were nothing too serious, noisy fridge, blackout curtains not perfect and no room safe.

I was scammed by an American company when I booked this hotel. Not impressed that the hotel is associated with a company who charges Canadians American dollars to stay in a Canadian hotel...perhaps they can't help that-but they did nothing to compensate us. $160 for one night at a 3star hotel. Insanity. The room was very noisy being right beside a busy road as well as walls that seemed paper thin(kids crying/doors shutting). I had a major exam to write the next day and got all of 3hrs sleep. Complimentary breakfast was bad-we ended up going elsewhere right after. Also, don't do as I did and assume there will be a hot tub-there isn't. The staff were super friendly, probably what's saving the hotel's ratings.

Good value and great location near main arteries and shopping. Hotel undergoing extensive renos and clean and comfortable. Rooms are on the smaller side but have a fridge and bed is very comfortable. Only down side is the noisy air conditioning and lack of a window to open. Great breakfast included, more than your typical high carb high fat hotel breakfast. Would recommend this one!

Room was very comfortable and staff were attentive. Had a kitchenette suite that was well set up. Luke in the breakfast room was amazing! Food was good too. We would definitely stay again. The heated pool was clean and inviting - wish we had time to use it.

"Not as Pet Friendly as it seems"

This hotel claims to be pet friendly and it is as far as allowing your pets to stay. There is no grass area or any type of area for the pet to relieve itself. When you clean up after your dog there are no receptacles to deposit your clean up.

This hotel is in the final stages of its exterior renovations so the noise from construction is minimal and only during the day. It is going to look awesome when finished. It is within walking distance of MetroTown, a huge shopping mall, and several restaurants. The room itself was clean and well stocked. The front end staff were very personable and efficient. The breakfast is your standard fare and the attendants were visible and helpful. The whole outside area is well lit and there is plenty of free parking. Would definitely stay here again.

I stayed here briefly during a road trip and even though it was under construction it was clean. The rooms were well maintained and the heat and A/C worked well. The free parking and complimentary breakfast made the nightly rate an even better value. The hair dryer was broken but the shower had good water pressure. Overall it was a comfortable stay.

A friend booked this hotel for us for a trip to Burnaby for a hockey tournament. The hotel parking lot was under construction, which we were not informed of. The hotel is old, the rooms stink, and you and do to the wood frame structure and the very old plumbing, you can hear everything int he hotel. I didn't get any sleep. Almost forgot, it is in a pretty seedy area as well. There were lots of car alarms and police sirens.

As many others have mentioned, there was renovation occurring during my stay. It wasn't a problem as they only worked during the day. Signs pointed to the temporary location of the lobby - easy enough to find. Lots of parking available. Air conditioning worked well. Located a short walk away to a sky train station, so it was a good compromise to staying out of Vancouver (due to the high summer hotel prices). Also located close to grocery stores if you need to pick something up. My room smelled quite strong of cigarette smoke so I'm glad I only stayed a night - I knew this ahead of time of it being a smoking room, so I can't complain about that...I just can't understand why people would smoke indoors. Overall I was happy with the stay and would stay again, but probably in a non-smoking room.

They're undergoing renovations inside and out. The room was lovely. Very clean. I slept like a baby. The staff is efficient. The continental breakfast was really a full American with bacon, pancakes, eggs, breads, fruit; all hot and fresh. On the downside the parking lot is a mess while they put in new water lines or something but they don't start the work before 9 am and end before 5 pm. Since I'm out sightseeing that's no trouble for me. The only reason I'm giving them a 4 is b/c of the construction mess. I'm staying here on my way back out of town and have no problem doing so. Great value.

This looks like a nightmare outside, a real building site, if we hadn't booked I wouldn't have stopped. However, once inside the room it was lovely and refurbished new a/c and really comfy. We haven't slept yet, I am hoping it won't be too noisy!

My family has stayed at the Best Western Kingsway Burnaby for more years than I can remember. We can't think of any reason to stay elsewhere. Although we visit only once a year, the reception staff always remember us and do their best to give us our favourite room. The staff in the breakfast remember us also, and Katy sent us off from our recent stay with a hug. The rooms are spacious, clean, comfortable. Excellent variety in the hot and cold breakfast buffet--no one leaves hungry. Special commendation should be given to the staff for making every effort to accommodate guests and ease any convenience during construction. Looking forward to returning to true renovated hotel next year.

I have mixed feelings about this property. It is clean and the room is spacious. There is alot of road noise. While it is called a hotel it is actually a motel. Not as nice as other Best Western Plus but good value for money.

Great location, we got a room with a kitchenette, loved the layout. Main area, couch and kitchen as you walked in, there was a queen bedroom in the back portion.Room was clean, staff was friendly, the complimentary breakfast had lots of choices. Would definately stay here again.

I have stayed at a couple of BW properties in Alberta & BC and this by far was the worst experience. To begin with we were allotted a room right next to where the renovation work at the hotel was happening. Everything including the room was so dusty and unkempt! We were almost on the verge on moving out the net day. Thankfully the hotel staff allotted us a room away from the construction after the first night. That made things a lot more better, but the experience of the first night still lingers on. At bare minimum, the hotel should be courteous enough as to not to allot any guests a room next to the construction site. Never returning to this property !

Clean, comfortable room, with outstanding staff! they helped with our lost baggage issue from airlines and assisted in arranging for transportation to cruise port. Thanks for the outstanding experience. Hotel is currently undergoing remodeling and is a bit of a mess, but staff is doing their best to make up for it and it looks like it will be beautiful when completed. Highly recommend for short stays! Fabulous mall nearby and hotel will provide coupons for use in mall.

We had a suite because that was all that was available and it was a great room. They are updating the whole place in phases so there is lots of work going on and it looks like each room is in a different stage of updating. For instance, our room needed a new coat of paint but otherwise the kitchen/rugs/bed were new. Our room was by the pool and was incredibly quiet considering the place is right on Kingsway. The included breakfast was the best on this trip. Real eggs, costco sausages, a cool pancake making machine and great service. It was also nice to be able to park for free. There are 2 stories with stairs and no elevator

We came over from Vancouver Island to see a concert. Check in was 3 pm, we arrived at 4:15 pm. To be told our room had not been made up yet. We waited half hour. We find that this site is under major renovation garbage, mattresses and construction equipment everywhere - the worst of it. We were not notified they were under construction. Otherwise we would have stayed elsewhere. We had a wake up call to our room at 9am to let us know construction workers were going to start working - well they already had at 730am as we were woken with hammering. Construction takes place from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Mondays to Fridays, so I am not sure where the hammering noise from as the construction crew does not begin work prior to 8:00 am. Furthermore, the construction crew working on the project are keeping the materials and equipment stored within their respective areas. The hotel was replacing mattresses on July 25th for thirty of our guest rooms, which is done every year; we had to wait until the guests in those thirty rooms checked out before changing the mattresses, so this was not done until almost 6:00 pm that day. Our garbage bin was not large enough to hold all of the mattresses being replaced, so the rest of them had to be disposed of the following day on July 26th. The garbage bag that you took a photo of was immediately disposed of by a member of our staff after she saw it. I hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back for another visit after the renovations have been completed, so we can reverse any negative impressions you may have received on this particular visit. Situated right next to a busy street so it's noisy. Beds are quite good. However, the location is not very practical for a toursit- or family-trip since you have to drive 30-40 minutes each way to get to Vancouver and the tourist attractions. A good mall is closeby but not much else to see or do in the area. Currently the Lobby is under renovation. Breakfast is basic but good. Free Parking. Poor relation in price vs quality.

There are a few things you can do around our area. Points of interests include Deer Lake Park (where Burnaby Village Museum and The Shadbolt Centre for the Arts are located), Metrotown, Burnaby Mountain (where you can go hiking and bike-riding, and is also the home of Simon Fraser University's main campus), Burnaby Lake Regional Nature Park, and Nikkei National Museum & Cultural Centre, to name a few. If you are driving to Vancouver, you may experience some traffic delays during rush hours, which are usually between 7:00 am to 9:00 am, and 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm, Monday to Friday. Otherwise, it shouldn't take you more than 25 minutes to get to downtown Vancouver from our hotel. If you are going by foot, Royal Oak Station is about a 10-minute walk from our property. You can get to Vancouver (starting at Joyce Station) in about 5 minutes, and get to downtown Vancouver (starting at Stadium-Chinatown) by skytrain in about 16 minutes. This Best Western on Kingsway was in a great location to access the skytrain to Rogers Arena. Though the hotel is going through renovations it is still a good clean stay. The breakfast selection was excellent. And the server was very good and accommodating at looking after diner needs.

undergoing facelift, construction debris everywhere, breakfast items were missing from buffet, the heating/air conditioning unit was loud, television offerings were minimal considering the vast amount of media available in today's market, parking lot is restrictive at the best of times but terrible with construction vehicles and equipment taking up spaces

We were unable to adjust the room temperature, even though we had determined a set temperature we want. The motel purchase better vacuums and brooms for housekeeping staff, to clean the closet, and corners. We could hear the water running in different rooms. There was no partying noises. Enjoyed breakfast, especially a young man, Luke was so helpful and professional. Hope Best western shows appreciation to staff and make get effort to keep staff like Luke.

We enjoyed our stay at the Best Western, clean room and comfortable bed. They provide a Iron/ Ironing board , blowdryer, soap, phone, tv etc.The breakfast was pretty good, they have pancakes, sausage, ham, eggs, cereal etc.While checking in they will give you a breakfast voucher for each day of your stay. I only wish we were allowed to stay longer on our last day there, there check out is 11:00am and our flight was at 10pm. I requested a little later check out, but the latest they allowed us to stay was 12pm, because they said they were fully booked. That was nice of them to allow us to stay a little longer . After checkout we decided to go hang out at the mall down the street, until we meet up with our friend to go to Granville Island. It is a good thing we have friends in Vancouver to hang out with. We had a great time at Granville island, which I will talk about in another review. This hotel is under renovation, which was not a problem. They offer a laundry room which is nice , 1 Canadian dollar per washer or dryer, and there is a snack machine in the laundry room.A heated swimming pool is offered as well, because it is generally cold in Vancouver.

For the price point, this hotel (more rather a motel to be honest) is a good deal. They are renovating and there is some construction going on but will hopefully be finished soon. Customer service at the lobby was good but not great. Overall it was satisfactory though. Room was clean and stocked appropriately. We were in Vancouver for 1 day and we had to wake up very early the next day for a extremely important event. We were in the bottom floor and we tried to go to sleep around 9:30pm but we were unable to due to loud talking upstairs/outside and a constantly clatter of a random sound. Frustrated, we called the front desk asking to change rooms and within a couple minutes they fulfilled our request. We were very happy and we were moved to a room upstairs on the second floor in a different building and it was much more quiet. Thank you for accommodating us; some people have no respect for others. Also, included is a free pass to Steve Nash Fitness Club across the street which is nice. It was way better than a hotel gym and I was happy to have this extra bonus. Complimentary continental breakfast is from 6:30am to 10:00am. Our room had a small fridge which was a nice bonus. Wifi is free and included in your stay. It was fairly fast once you get connected.

We chose this hotel because it wasn't far from a Sky Train station. We wheeled our luggage from the station to the hotel so it wasn't too far. The hotel is clean, the bathroom very nice, the staff welcoming and pleasant. There is construction going on which may be unwelcome to some. Also not all rooms have microwaves and fridges - ours didn't. The breakfast was above average though still a fair amount of processed items. The best thing about the hotel is that we could attend the church service that is held in the conference room upstairs. That was a wonderful blessing. The church family was very welcoming. We were able to leave our luggage at the front desk while we went sightseeing.

We stayed here for a week post cruise as we had a relative living nearby so it was convenient when getting together with her. Ok, there is building work going on during the day but disruption is kept to a minimum and you have to look beyond this as there are many positive points. We arrived in the pouring rain and too early for check in. We were hoping to leave our bags and check out the area but Emily, who was on reception, phoned through to see if our room was ready. It wasn't but she arranged for it to be cleaned straightaway and it was ready within the hour. The room was spotlessly clean and had a small kitchenette which was well equipped with fridge, cooker, microwave, coffee maker and adequate crockery, glasses and cutlery. The coffee for the machine was replenished daily. In addition to the bed, there was a large sofa bed, coffee table and a small dining table and two chairs. This exceeded our expectations and we were very pleased with it. The buffet breakfast was very good there being a variety of cereals, yoghurts, fruit, jams, pastries and muffins plus scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, ham, bacon or sausage patties and also waffles to order. Food was replenished as it ran low so even on the couple of days we arrived a bit later there was still plenty available. The situation of the hotel on Kingsway is great for the bus and link to the sky train and Metro town mall and cinema is not far away. This makes Burnaby a good place to stay as it is not as expensive as Vancouver but it is easy to get downtown when you want to. Restaurants in Burnaby are plentiful with an eclectic mix to suit all tastes. We particularly liked Earls which is on the same side of Kingsway but quite a bit further down. There are a couple,of nice parks too. Deer lake park was about a 20 minute walk away and is worth a visit. There are several planned routes around it you can choose to do and it is very tranquil. What does impress at the hotel is the friendliness and helpfulness of all the staff. They are lovely people and work hard in what must be quite a difficult situation for them while the renovation work is still going on. Special thanks to Emily, Cyrus, Katy and Ruby. To sum up, if you don't mind stopping that little bit further from downtown Vancouver then the Best Western plus Kings should suit. It is a good hotel and when the renovation work is finished this Summer, it will be great.

Check-in was at 3pm and we ended up waiting for our room we'd had a reservation for since March until almost 5...while walk-ins went straight to their rooms. Reservations were also awkward, and we didn't get much explanation of where our room was or where parking was near our room. The room itself was pretty nice, and the location was pretty good for our concert at Deer Lake Park, but nonetheless I was not very impressed with our check-in experience. The free breakfast was surprisingly well done though, so that was nice.

Pro: Friendly helpful staff, decent breakfast. Room furnishings are good. Room was clean and bed comfortable. Reasonably quiet at night. Cons: Aging hotel. Non-smoking room still smells of smoke and a bit musty. Hotel is under renovation but appears to be mostly a cosmetic facelift of the exterior. Rooms have poor ventilation. Room doors have poor fit in door frame. Some of the fluorescent lights take a while to come on. Access from Kingsway is poor. Parking spaces are too tight for a midsize SUV or larger car and not enough spaces, probably due to the construction.

Stayed here for a 3-week extended stay business trip. The location was fine as business was in Burnaby and it was a short walk to the large mall and Skytrain station for weekend rides into Vancouver. I stayed in one of the rooms with a kitchenette. There were a few pots/pans/plates/utensils and a Safeway nearby for groceries. The stove and microwave were dated but fine for my purposes. The room was clean though a bit of noise from the heavily trafficked Kingsway. Unfortunately, the various neighbors I had next to me tended to be late nighters, smoked outside their door (and mine) while talking, or have barking dogs. I don't blame the hotel for this - I feel it's the luck of the draw. Breakfasts were good with pancakes, muffins, apple/bananas, cold cut ham, cereals, hard boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, and a rotation of sausage links, sausage patties, or bacon. The property is under major exterior renovation and should look much nicer when complete.

This Hotel is very clean, rooms:- comfortable, beds very very clean, Although it is on a main road Kingsway It is very quiet so no sleep disturbance. Staff helpful and friendly. It is close to Metro-Town Mall, which also has a Movie Theater also a Bus stop is right out side Hotel, taking to the bus loop at Metro-Town where you can transfer to Sky Train, which will take you anywhere in the Lower Main Land, there is also Crystal Mall close buy made of of all Asian shops, I go there every time. Although at the time I last stayed it was undergoing renovations it was not too in convenient and should be over by June.

We checked out the hotel 6 months ago and could see that it was going to be a really great hotel. Unfortunately progress on the building work seems to have been far slower than I would have hoped or expected. Two things annoyed; having workers working outside the room from early morning and not having an elevator to get to the upper level. There is one but it is not yet working and, anyway, much of the upper level has incomplete walkways so we couldn't have got to our room if it was. On the positive side it is well placed for public transport; it is close to a large number of restaurants and Metrotown and so the Skytrain. The staff were generally very helpful. It provided a free breakfast up to the standard we have come to expect from the better Best Westerns in the USA and Canada who provide them. All in all will give it a second chance in 6 months by which time I would hope that building work is completed and the hotel is fully functioning. I will also carefully monitor the charges of this hotel against other Best Westerns in Vancouver; at present it matches them.

Have stayed before. expected the exterior renovation . but did not expect the poor inconsistent housekeeping. garbage not emptied, coffee pot not cleaned, no fresh coffee supplies, computer and c-pap machine unplugged. poor vacuuming. this was a massive change from our last stay.

"Construction Disaster!"

This motel is undergoing major renovations. The parking lot is full of workers vehicles, mattresses in plastic bins, The 2 restaurants listed as being on the property are closed. The front of the building is boarded up. I would never have even driven in if I hadn't booked this with TripAdvisor. Nowhere did it say this was happening! The room we were given was at the back and it was very nice - recently renovated and very clean BUT the area is old with dumpy buildings down both sides of the main road. I would never go out at night in this area. I went with my 88-year old Mother for medical tests and explained this when I called to ensure I would get a ground floor room. There was no way we could walk to a restaurant from this location! AND there was no discount for this place. I will never stay here again.

hotel doing extensive renovations, and the facility will look very good when complete. But still a very good stay. Office and amenities easy to access. Rooms very good. Full breakfast with lots of choices. Very pleasant staff.

"Bit of a Building Site!"

Still gets average as the staff were nice and the room was a good size but its a complete building site. They are putting a whole new level on top of a large part of the hotel so as a result we have a crane parked outside our room and builders everywhere, various areas closed off. Will be nice when its finished but if I had been told at the time of booking this was going on I would have stayed elsewhere.

The people working at this property are simply amazing. From the front desk to the grounds keeper everyone truly cares about the "guest experience". In the breakfast room, Katy will fill you up and put a smile on your face.

We come every year for business and this was our second year at this hotel. We have always had wonderful staff who really go the extra mile to make you feel welcome! They are always very helpful and super friendly! The rooms are comfortable and spacious. We keep coming back for the great service and convenient location!

This hotel was recommendedby my daughter. She stays here every time she is in the city. It is near Metrotown Mall and Silver City movie theatre. Yes there is construction going on at this time. A necessary evil. I found the staff very friendly and accommadating. They put us on the far side of the hotel to minimize any noise. Very quiet. The room was excellent. Very clean and very comfortable.

Wish we knew it was under major construction. When we pulled in we thought we are staying in the slums! Parking is tight and the entrance is very easy to miss off Kingsway. The room itself was small but clean and nice. The shower head was terrible, not enough pressure. Bed was comfortable. Staff was very friendly especially for the breakfast. Hot free breakfast food was ok..and thats all I can say. Great location as its close to Metrotown and easily accessible to many places. With it being under coonstruction it was juat a very bizarre set up for breakfast. Overall I'd recommend!

"Good location, lot of traffic, under construction"

The hotel is in the middle of major renovation, it is hard to find parking. Be careful when you park at night, I almost hit the construction material left in the parking area (near the restaurant). It is hard to get in and out of the hotel since Kingsway is a major road with lot of traffic (be extra careful when you turn left on Kingsway to get in the parking entrance). One major advantage is the hotel is very close to Metropolis (Metrotown) shopping center. I did not try the Chinese restaurant next door, so cannot make comment. Overall, it is a good place to stay if you like to stay close to shopping center. I would come back when the renovation is completed. If you like to go to Gastown and Chinatown, just turn right on Kingsway, and go all the way to the end. Simple drive.

I had a pleasant experience at the Best Western, as always. The staff were very accommodating, the room was clean, the breakfast was good, and the room was quiet. The internet connection was a little spotty at a couple of points, but overall, the location was convenient and the nearby amenities were easy to access.

ok, a little bit below than average, comfortable room, but very small, the renovation was on when we stayed. It's good location though, if you like to shopping in the Metrotown Mall and Crystal Mall...

Please note that we do have other room types available with a larger space (i.e., a room with two queen beds or a suite), which may better suit your needs. Nevertheless, thank you for highlighting what you did enjoy – I am glad our location worked well for you. Many of our guests find our location very convenient, as we are close to Metrotown, the second largest shopping complex in Canada. Guests can board the 106 Metrotown Station bus from the bus stop in front of our hotel and arrive at Metrotown, Station Square, and Crystal Mall in about eight minutes. Although our property is still under renovations, we expect it to be completed by the end of Spring 2016. Great Chinese restaurant attached to hotel. Would have been nice to know that facility was under a major renovation when booking. A bit tricky to get in and out of hotel as it is on a major feeder street.

Excellent location and close to shopping and restaurants. Very friendly staff and clean rooms. Good breakfast. Usually would be a 4 rating, but hotel was under construction. Felt we should have been informed they were working on the hotel when we booked.

I do overnight stays about once a month and when I'm in Burnaby I always stay here. The rooms work really well, check-in/out is always quick and friendly. Great value for the room I get. I'll be back again and again.

This is our "go to" hotel on our trips to Vancouver. It is well-located for our needs. If we choose to use public transit, it is just a short walk to a sky train station. Breakfasts are very good. Price is also very good.

I stayed here recently for work. I was concerned when I pulled up as the exterior is under renovation. However the room was comfortable and there was no construction noise while I was there (I wasn't around during the day). The staff are also super friendly and welcoming. I would definitely stay again!

I stay here with my mum for a holiday we stay here a week and love it so close to restaurant that we like the bed was good and I got a good sleep mum took the couch bed and she love it as it not to high for her to get in it the free hot breakfast was ok but not mine choice little sausage aka cocktail but there do have sausage patties other days and they good the only thing I did not like was the cable tv need more choices but all ready book for end of this year Tys to all that help us here

I love staying at this hotel - close enough to Vancouver and Skytrain but not to close. It's about a 5 block walk to the skytrain and there are plenty of restaurants close by. This trip we took the train from Seattle and then spent our vacation on public transportation. Building is being remodeled but no work noise during the evening and they don't start too early in the morning. In the summer they have a nice outdoor pool.

Hotel exterior under renovation but they've finished the rooms. Great value due to outside look and upgraded rooms that are newly reno'd. Comfortable beds and I had the best sleep in weeks spent on the road. Breakfast hot / fresh / cold with fruit too. Coffee good.

Comfortable.. Some construction going on but at work during day so not much of a bother. Breakfast is good. Front desk staff and housekeepers are awesome they are attentive and quick to answer any questions or deliver towels etc. There is a bar down the road but I'd avoid that ( rude staff rather be on phone than serve).

I wouldn't stay here if I had a choice and if I had needed to stay any additional time beyond the one night I would have changed hotels. On-site construction is a big problem that impacts almost everything about your stay. Find somewhere else.

A dark evening Construction Site is your first impression, since the Kingsway front is taped off and the road entrance leads around the back to the centre of the hotel with half of the parking blocked off and some construction equipment parked. You question the logic of your choice, until you enter the temporary lobby and are greeted by a very friendly and helpful evening desk clerk! She is enthusiastic about the end result for the hotel but is concerned that completion has been delayed, and is genuine when she says that she is available if you experience any difficulty with your room or anything else. The hotel was very conveniently located for my business activities and close to public transportation if you choose not to drive. The room was older, but well maintained and cleaned and everything worked! The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the evening desk clerk did get the opportunity to assist me when I had a parking problem on my third day. She rose to the occasion and my perceived problem evaporated as quickly as it had arisen. There was no construction noise, but I was away during the daytime. Like most old hotels there was not sound deadening between my ceiling and the room above, which was occupied by early rising people on one of my three nights I stayed. The price was very reasonable and may increase after the construction period, due to the prime location and comfortable atmosphere.

I recall this hotel to be old, but they have and are doing a major renovation here. It looks great. Everything from the exterior to the interior says that the owner cares! Receptionist was very polite and it was a smooth transaction. We rented a lower floor room, two queens. Air conditioner was quiet. I guess one negative was no microwave in the room, but it did have a mini bar fridge. The internet was awesome. The continental breakfast was essentially average, although the lady working it was very nice. I have nothing that would warrant a negative on this hotel.

Pleased with the hotel ,major renovations are underway but still happy with the stay,hotel is close to where we had appointments and easy to get to from major highways ,airport etc . Will stay again on next trip and advise friends and business partners how good it is!

We realize you were under construction. However, we would not stay there in the near future until we knew if all was complete. We would phone first....as we had travelled from Kelowna, it/this was closest to our dinner meeting with close friends.

Best Western on Kingsway is conveniently located for my business trips in that area. The staff was friendly and helpful but the hotel is undergoing major renovations so the construction did create some challenges in moving about through the property by foot and by car. I look forward to returning after the work is done.

This BW is being renovated in a major way. Probably very noisy during construction hours. Not very appealing environment. Dark paint colour and dim lighting in access hallways. Sealed windows meant AC only source of fresh air and AC was impossible to set to agreeable setting. Had to put chairs covered with bedding to direct noisy AC cold air away from beds in order to sleep. Breakfast was a redeeming feature. As advertised and lots of it!

This project also includes replacing the windows, walkways, and ceilings outside of the guest rooms. Our hotel has the layout of a motel, which means that room access is from the outside of the building. The sealed windows are for the safety of our guests in order to prevent the possibility of an intrusion as the walkways are located on the outside. Chose this hotel for beeing close to metrotown mall We used it as jump off spot for our vancouver shopping trip Room was clean had nice interior a good bed a fridge and was clean. Warm breakfast was included. Wifi was a bit slow. Front end is under reno right now. We walked shopping. Free parking.

Although the exterior of the hotel is a bit older (they are undergoing renovations), the rooms are of decent size and clean, and came with everything you would need to be comfortable. I had a good night's sleep on the reasonably firm bed.

Hotel is under major renovations. But it was still a great place to stay. Was central for me going from Surrey to downtown. Was a little noisy in the mornings but nothing that woke me up. The pool is heated and I wish I'd had time to have a dip. With your room key you can work out across the street at Steve Nash fitness which was a big plus for me. Comfortable bed.

Good value for money. It is conveniently located. There are a lot of amentities in the neighbourhood. The newly renovated rooms are really nice. I have stayed at this hotel in the past and this time around stayed 2 nights, one week apart. The breakfast provided was very nice. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and I would stay again when visiting Vancouver.

The Best Western PLUS Kings Inn & Conference Centre is located in a convenient location, is very clean and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. The breakfast is the very best, and again the staff is fantastic in the breakfast area.
