"Room was great, food not so much, good location between airport and city"

We stayed here overnight to wait for our departure from Belize after a 2 week stay in several different locations San Pedro, Placencia, and San Ignacio. The beds were comfortable. The room temperature was comfortable if you figure out how to use the air conditioner. The floors are tile, not carpet, which makes sense as they are prone to flooding. The shower was nice and hot and plenty of pressure. The food in the restaurant and the room service are lacking. We had dinner at the restauarant when we arrived at check in the night before our departure. The waitress acted like she did not care to wait on us and mostly ignored us unless we tried to get her attention. Perhaps we were spoiled, but the food was not good and it was cold by the time we got it. We ate it anyway because we were hungry ... and it did not taste as good as it sounded in the menu. Room service the next morning for breakfast, we ordered 3 separate meals and there was an item left off of each plate ... and yep .. it was cold by the time we got it. The hotel itself was fine, and we may actually stay there again if we go back, just because of the location, but we will utilize the small grocery store across the street for our meals ... about a block from the hotel ... and the room had a fridge and microwave so that helped.

"Great stay, warm room"

Our room was fabulous and the amenities were enough. The beds were comfortable and the hotel grounds were immaculate. What made our one night experience average was our faulty AC that made our trip displeasing. We reported it and the staff reacted but at the end of the night we ended up sleeping in a warm room.

"Nice lobby, polite employees, nice bar, but noisy by pool"

Much of this hotel we found agreeable, clean, with polite employees. Why not a "very good" rating? The noise around the pool by our room. We asked to switch, but no rooms were apparently available to change. Furthermore, the pool rules are clearly stated on signs. However, some employees ignore these by having their children or younger siblings spend the days at the pool. The kids were there in the morning by nine and there till late afternoon. Guests could not lie around the pool to sunbathe without being splashed from kids jumping and diving into pool. The noise was not from guests. I was harassed by one boy when I tried to swim laps in the morning. The management may say and state that locals can not be in the pool, but it is either ignored or winked at. No diving, but the kids do. Loud noise. Signs clearly state that the pool is for hotel guests only. Our room heard the noise much of the day. While it would have been nice to have a small, quick self-serve breakfast available, the buffet looked good, but was relatively expensive. We didn't try it. The food at the restaurant in the evening was relatively expensive but good. The pool bar service and drinks in the evenings were good. The small tienda and lobby were very well apportioned and the employees polite and professional.

"Very nice for the location"

I stayed here 2 nights, a week apart. This is probably the nicest hotel in Belize City. Not too far from the airport, like many Best Westerns in the US, secure parking lot, fenced facility for safety. The staff we very friendly and the breakfast buffet, with emlette station, was delicious. The pool is kind of small but super close to the outdoor bar.

Our group of 18 adults and girls stayed at this hotel for 2 nights of our eight day tour of Belize. The rooms were very clean and updated. The food was really wonderful. The pool was very clean. I would highly recommend this hotel!

"Basic hotel in Belize City"

Good location, 30 minutes away from the airport. The Concierge can book for you a van to the airport. The hotel is basic, but very clean and it has spacious rooms. They have a small cafe acros the street where you can have a simple breakfast of coffee snack. It is an OK place for an overnight or two if you are on business. THis is not a vacation place. The harbor where the cruises stop to go to the Mayan ruins or to the tubing caves is very close.

Clean rooms, great Wi-Fi and breakfast and really, really friendly and helpful staff that picked us up from the airport and dropped us off. Great pool and outdoor space too. Location very convenient for City and Municipal airport to cayes

"Nice & clean without a lot of bells and whistles."

I can't quite give the hotel 5 stars because it's not a "5 star" hotel. That being said, whenever I travel to Belize City, this will be my go to location. The rooms are not luxurious, but are nice and clean without a lot of bells and whistles. I had what I think was the "Belizean" breakfast which consisted of fry jacks, beans and eggs - delicious. For a late night snack I had a shrimp ceviche, also delicious. The staff was friendly. Will definitely return.

"One night stay"

My friend and I stayed for only one night at the Best Western. We flew in from San Pedro at 5 PM and left the following morning at 7 AM for the international airport to head home. I was impressed with the standard room we booked. It was renovated, the beds were super comfortable, and the AC was ice cold. We couldn't hear any traffic from our room at all. There is a pool at the hotel, but we didn't get a chance to hop in because it was extremely crowded. The restaurant at the hotel was really nice and the food was tasty. Highly recommend. The taxi from the municipal airport was $15 BZ. Shuttle to the international airport was $25 USD. I would recommend staying at this hotel for a short stay in Belize City.

"My top choice for Belize City"

I came to Belize for a week of work and cancelled my group's original stay (33 people) @ another hotel after only one night (terrible smell, poor conditions in the rooms) and moved it here after being recommended by someone from the airport. It is not on the water or in the heart of Belize City like the last hotel, but the staff (Jennifer at the front desk, Maria and Marion in sales, and Ted the GM) made up for it with their customer service. They are all truly amazing and really care about their customers and their experiences while in Belize. They realize that the vacation experience starts and ends with the hotel! It is 15 minutes in between the airport and Belize City along the main "highway". The rooms are great and they have been updated with brand new beds, in room wifi, TVs and AC units. The maid staff are also amazing, they keep the rooms extremely clean and well stocked. The pool and bar (Ms Dayan or Ms D!) were a nice place to relax as well as the gym with new equipment! There is still plenty of construction on the road out front, like the rest of the area, but they are almost done inside the hotel. It goes to show that they are updating the hotel to better suit their clientele. They are also very thankful and accepting of recommendations for future improvements. I would highly recommend this hotel to any and everyone whether it be for a single night or a long stay. This will be the my first choice anytime I or my group comes back to Belize.

"A welcome back to reality "

I'm going to leave this establishment a raving 5-Star review for so many reasons! After spending close to two weeks in Placencia & in the hills of San Ignacio, this was such a welcome back to reality with super clean and large rooms (newly renovated), a great pool and outdoor area, a very nice indoor/outdoor restaurant, and a great staff in general. Yes there was construction on property and on the main road; but honestly we put our headphones in and never noticed a thing! Their website notes the construction so no surprise there. The only thing I would note is that the outdoor bar staff is not very attentive, but you're in a great atmosphere so who cares?! Close to the airport and has a shuttle. Very convenient and extremely comfortable. I highly recommend!!

Unlike the large disaster of a hotel I had to stay at during my last visit, the Biltmore is always striving to be better. Always a new renovation to create a better guest experience. Smiling and courteous staff. Consistent, well kept rooms. I will keep returning as long as they have room for me.

"Average hotel that loves to charge extra"

My family stayed here for an evening as we were returning from Ambergris Caye and had an early flight the next morning out of Belize City. We took the ferry from San Pedro to Belize City and called the hotel to tell them that we needed a shuttle ride. They told us it would be $15 Belize for the first 2 people and then $5 more for each additional person. The hotel is only 3 miles from the ferry, not sure why there is a charge. We ended up taking a taxi for $15 Belize for all four of us for the 5-minute ride. While checking in they tried to charge an additional $30 U.S. for our two children. We told them we made the reservations online and put in the number of people that would be staying in the room. They said their computers made an error and they needed to charge us more money. After a few minutes of arguing, they finally agreed to charge us the amount we had reserved the room for. We also informed them we would need a shuttle bus to the airport in the morning, and they said it would be $25 Belize dollars. The driver the next morning informed us that the woman who told us it was $25 Belize made a mistake, it was actually $25 U.S. We were already paying as much to stay here as we were on San Pedro for a 2 bedroom condo with a kitchen and a full deck with a hot-tub. Anyway, we made our way to the room, which smelled really awful upon entering, not sure if it was the cleaner they used or what but it smelled like pungent cherry and sweat. The AC in the room barely worked but after a few hours on the high setting, cooled the small room. We actually bought a few candles from the market down the street and burned them in our room to cover the smell. Also, the city is replacing the road that runs in front of the hotel, so at 6:30 AM the loud construction noise woke all of us. We had to be up at 7:15 anyway but would have enjoyed the extra 45 minutes of sleep. All in all, it is a place to sleep in a junky part of town that has little to no customer service. On the bright side, the lobby and dining room are very nice and the pool and bar areas are above average for this sort of hotel. Next time we travel to Belize, I will look for a different place to stay.

Hi Jim, I thank you for providing us feedback on your stay with us. Jim, the hotel does have two shuttles that provide transportation with in Belize and all over the country of Belize. Our vans are both 2017 and 2018 - 17 passenger vans. We have 4 dedicated drivers who provide this service. Jim this is a service highly appreciate it by our guests as our staff are very professional and courteous. Please note that all kids stay free with parents up to 12yrs old. Your kids were over +18 yrs old and as such qualify as adults for our hotel. The policy is that we charge an additional US$15 per additional adult in the room. We apologize if you believe that the service was free. 80% of our rooms has been completely renovated and are new. We hope that by the end of this year we would have completed the final 20%. The pool, lobby, restaurant, conference rooms, gym, spa are all new for the comfort of our guests. Let me know on your next visit and let us upgrade your reservation. Ted Tejada - GM

"A Home Away FromHome"

This is to commend Ms. Marion Middleton and the rest of the Belize Biltmore Plaza team for making the Biltmore a true home away from home and making our stay there an excellent one. My wife and I went to Belize for a week arriving on June 3 and departing on June 11. During that time we only spent two nights in Hopkins so the majority of our stay was at the Biltmore. Upon arrival we were warmly welcome by a friendly staff who remembered us from our previous visit in February and greeted us by name. When we arrived at the room we were very pleasantly surprised to see a full platter of at least five local fruits that was waiting for us in our room. The fruit made a big difference as we were famished after having been traveling for more than 12 hours (and three time zones) from Sacramento, California. This made us feel very special. The house keeping staff also did a great job of taking care of all our needs while we were there. With this kind of excellent treatment and accommodation, we plan to continue making the Belize Biltmore Plaza our destination when we go back to Belize. Kudos to all for a great job.

"Belizean Vacation "

My family went to Belize for a family event. We were staying at different hotels due to hotel loyalty. But when our kids went to the Biltmore to see our rooms, they all changed there reservations and moved over to the Biltmore the next day. The gardens, the pool, the bar, and comfortable accommodations are a plus. We sure had a wonderful family reunion. Special mention to Marion in the sales department who made it worked for us. Housekeeping did a wonderful job as well in meeting our needs.

"Overnight stay to fly out following day"

Room was clean, bed comfy but very noisy. Renovations were going on what sounded like above us or in the room next door. The works started at 7.30am with loud banging and drilling. To add to that we were in the room next to the gym. The gym door slammed until very late at night and started at about 4.30am every 5 mins or so. Very annoying. You think they would adjust the door hinge so it doesnt slam as Im sure other rooms close to ours would have been woken by it too. My boyfriend who could sleep through a nuclear war woke up so it is very loud. The restaurant was over priced but the food was ok. They did bring out a complimentary cup of soup and warm bread which was delicious but the mains were just OK. We sat outside as it was such a beautiful evening but the mosquitos were really bad. You would think they would have mosquito coils or something but they didnt. Location close to port and airport which was perfect for us as we came in from Caye Caulker via water taxi and flew out the next day. The experience would have been much better and awarded a higher rating if the renovations werent so loud and we werent in a room next to the gym. The hotel was not full so it would have been nice if they had put us in a room away from the renovations and the gym.

"Last Night in Belize"

We stayed one night for our last night in Belize which a lot of people do and I would highly recommend it. We were staying in San Pedro and had an early flight home and didnt want to rush around the morning we were leaving. The hotel grounds are nice, the rooms are clean and comfortable with very dark shades on the window which were great because we went to sleep early. We really enjoyed the food at the onsite restaurant.

"Good for 1 night 15 min from airport"

The pros to this hotel are that our room had a mini-fridge and microwave, with two comfortable queen beds. Unfortunately the fridge was more like a cooler. Great gym. Nice little pool in the courtyard but the locals like to rent out the facility for birthday parties, so kids were noisily splashing around from noon to nearly 9pm (it was Saturday). Also, the very tight parking lot was full due to a wedding reception. The bathroom had no tub, only a weak shower. It's only 15 minutes to the airport, and Brodie's supermarket is just down the street. The hotel has a 10% service charge on top of the regular tax. They charge an extra $15 USD for a rollaway bed. Their restaurant charges high prices, like $45 US dollars for a steak, $15 USD for a burger. I would NOT recommend walking around outside the hotel at night. I would not stay here for vacation, but would only spend a night if you need to be at the airport early the next day. Staff was polite.

"Beautiful "

We stayed here for our last night in Belize. The check in was extremely fast and easy. The room was beautiful and clean. The A/C worked fabulously. The pool was delightful. Everything worked perfectly. The bar has different items to eat than the restaurant. The food was great!

"Avoid this hotel for even a short stay; overpriced and rude"

We are staying here 1 night before our flight home leaves in the AM. We've been treated rudely by quite seriously every single staffer we have interacted with (other reviews note this as well), with the exception of one woman at the pool bar who wasn't dismissive or surly. The price for the room is exorbitant, and I've never in my life seen an intl'l chain that wants to charge $25US for 2 adults plus and additional $10US charge for 2 kids to go 5 miles down the road to the airport. Best Western is a franchised chain I believe, and the mgmt here must be out of their mind. I saw a sign for a Radisson on the road today from the water taxi, and immediately regretted not booking there. Do your research and find someplace else to stay. This has ruined what has otherwise been a decent week in Belize and left a very bad taste in our mouths. We also encountered rudeness on Caye Caulker but not the level in this establishment.

"A four star Hotel with excellent service and somewhat high prices than anticipating"

Best Western Plus Biltmore Plaza Hotel is a nice four-star hotel trying to provide excellent service and situated on the Philip Goldson Avenue about five Km (3 miles) from the city center of Belize City and about 11 Km (7 miles) from Philip S.W.Goldson International Airport. The Best Western Plus Biltmore Plaza Hotel is a very nice, comfortable and quite hotel in Belize City, but you have to take a taxi, use the hotel shuttle service or the public bus outside the hotel to go to downtown Belize City. I was very satisfied with the overall experience and quality of the Hotel. Both the arrival experience (check-in) was very positive (helpful and caring personnel) offering us also a welcome drink, as well as the check out experience (speed, helpfulness and care) was also a very satisfying experience. Besides that I think that some times the personnel at the reception must be more smiley and friendly. The hotel room was spacious, very clean and modern designed (décor) and the service of the staff was excellent as they were polite, attentive and helpful. I liked very much the swimming pool which was for us a big advantage as we were away from the sea and from a adequate beach for swimming. The appearance of the reception / lobby was highly welcoming with both water, coffee and tea on side and the design of the lobby / reception was stylish and professional. Considering the value for money it was good, but we expected better prices than those offered by direct bookings (and therefore better value for money). The service also in the bar was excellent and we did not encounter any problems at all. Generally, the personnel has a customer oriented attitude (e.g. the shuttle service drivers) but I would also like to mention the service provided to us by the Director of Sales and Marketing Mrs. Marion Middleton. who really excel in customer orientation attitude by solving a real problem of ours, caused by a silly mistake during the online booking process. We were very happy after the solution provided and we thank her again for paying attention to our problem. In conclusion I liked my stay at Best Western Plus Biltmore Plaza Hotel in Belize City and my stay was enjoyable (good value for money, although it could be better) and I would stay again if the opportunity arises.

"Good if it's what you need"

Definitely nicer than what i was expecting from a best western. The pool was quite nice, and a great dip for a hot day. The staff was polite, but not necessarily friendly. The person checking us in seemed tired, and the staff around the pool seemed flustered. Location-wise, this is a good spot if you're needing to head to the airport quickly, but isn't close to much from a tourism standpoint. The room was clean, and the sheets/bed were very soft. More of a business oriented location rather than a vacation spot in my opinion, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing.

"Not worth the price"

Should of booked elsewhere. Very pricy for what you get. Found it noisy at night and hard to sleep. Cancelled my second and third night reservation and moved to ramada. Less than half the price and much more quite. Save your money

"Pleasantly Suprised"

You just never can take all the reviews to heart. After being stranded by Southwest at 7pm. After both planes to get here were delayed(4+ hr delay). We missed our flight to Placencia and after hearing about not safe areas in Belize we weren't sure what to do. Taxi driver suggested this Best Western and to our delight was perfect for one night pit stop after a day of delays. All the staff was super friendly, fast, informative. The restaurant food was really good. Bar outside was nice. Room had no issues that I noticed. I wish we would have seen this place while planning our trip and will keep in mind for stays around the airport in the future.

The hotel is not located near the water, and therefore, there are no restaurants nearby. If you do not have a car, then you are stuck paying for a cab or to eat at the hotel restaurant. The food in the hotel restaurant was only fair. The internet did not work, and when we requested assistance we were told we would receive a return call; we never did and had to go to the front desk. The water in the shower was either very hot or very cold, it did not mix. Towels were not readily available at the pool. When requested at the front desk, we were told to go back to the pool. The towels arrived 20 minutes later. Overall, nothing to rave about.

I stayed one night at the end of a 2-week trip to various locations in Belize. After living rough for a week or so, it was great to have a comfortable bed, a hot shower, air-conditioning, and wifi. My room, which included a small refrigerator, was comfortable. Unfortunately, the rooms at this hotel seem to be organized around a central courtyard, which includes the pool. I spent the first couple of hours in my room listening to many rounds of "Marco Polo" as children played in the pool. Also, my room was two doors away from the courtyard restrooms, so there was the constant slap of running feet along the tiled passageway. Napping was impossible. I had dinner and breakfast in the hotel restaurant. The food was good. Service, although a bit slow to start, was good once it was underway. The hotel is a 10 - 15 minute drive from the international airport. Whether you go there in the hotel shuttle or in a taxi, the fare is $25 US, so don't bother to find an alternative to the hotel shuttle. I put it on my hotel bill so that I could pay with a credit card, and tipped the driver in cash for loading and unloading my bag. Note: This hotel does NOT have an elevator. The tap water is NOT potable, so don't use it for drinking or brushing your teeth. There are two complimentary bottles of water in your room; you can buy more bottled water from the hotel.

Concerning the water it is tested daily and it does meet all the requirements for drinking. As a matter fact 80% of the population of Belize drink it. We pipe it directly from our reserve to the rooms and prefer to advise our guests that the water is not purified coming out of the pipe. "Good for your money"

There are some job being done on the highway so the area is very dusty but inside the hotel is very clean. If you are looking to sleep late then avoid having a room in the first floor and/or around the pool because it is very noisy. Room are big and cozy. Food is regular and as they have only one restaurant it is usually full and service get slow. Overall you the service is good for your money.

"ok for one night stop-over"

The rooms are pretty clean and the pool is nice enough, but the hotel is on a busy dusty highway, the air conditioners are extremely loud, the restaurant food is tolerable at best, and the restaurant service is terrible. Make sure the windows in your room are locked. when we checked in, the windows were unlocked, and someone can easily reach in and open your door. We did have a very nice bartender.

"Nice from the outside, bad from the inside.."

The hotels looks quite fancy, nice lobby, good pool and a cosy patio. However, the service is very poor. Takes too long before you have your dinner and cocktails, no alcohol served before 18:00h (due to Easter) and the worst: bathroom smells like sewer. So, regarding the price-quality this hotel is a no-go.

This hotel is not anything like the best westerns in the US. It is very high quality. The staff is very nice. The pool is great. There was a problem with my reservation, that was not their fault and they straightened it out. There was a problem with the lock on my door, but the hotel was full so I couldn't switch rooms. They got it fixed by 8 pm. The next day I found a fruit plate in my room because of the problem. When we checked in there was no water because of a broken pipe, but that was fixed by 8pm also. I heard another stupid Anglo complaining to his guide he couldn't take a shower. Geez, can't you go with the flow, it wasn't their fault and it was only 5 or 6 hours.

Located close ($50 Belize Dollars taxi ride; 15 minutes) to the Belize City International Airport (PGIA) and even closer to downtown, this Best Western Hotel is the perfect spot to soak up the sun, have a Bloody Mary, and chill at their fabulous pool (Best in Belize City) for a night or two or more. The fitness center is well equipped with some new cardio equipment along with WiFi internet. Located to facilitate easy day trips (or more) to many fabulous venues on the mainland or the two major Cayes, I always stay at the Best Western Plus Belize Biltmore Plaza for several nights on my way back from Placencia. Restaurant is excellent, so no requirement to leave the premises, unless you have not yet had the pleasure of exploring Belize City / northern Belize...

I was so impressed by the friendliness of the staff, cleanliness of the room and overall grounds. The pool area was fun with plenty of sun which is also located right beside the outdoor bar. "Nice hotel but don't visit the restaurant..."

This was our hotel the night we flew out after spending 10 days in Belize. As another reviewer mentioned- it made a nice transition from the country of Belize back to reality! Hotel is clean, comfortable and well-appointed. Nice amenities- and comfortable beds. We didn't use the pool but it looked very nice. When we were checking in we asked the hotel receptionist about places to eat and about the on-site restaurant - she tried do dissuade us from eating there - suggesting other restaurants that might be better. But we had driven all day and really didn't feel like looking for a place to eat so we ate at the restaurant- the Biltmore Bistro. We should have heeded the receptionist! My fish was inedible; very fishy smelling and not fresh. The shrimps were rubbery and tasteless. After outstanding seafood meals across Belize - this was such a let down. Service was fine and the bread was good but that was about it. I opted for dessert since I didn't eat any of my meal and even the desserts were awful - my eclairs were both dry and chewy and my husband's creme brûlée was small and tepid. So, good hotel - avoid the restaurant! One other note - if you are given a room in the 200s - be aware that there is no elevator- on the way in a busboy helped us with our luggage (and even he struggled a bit) but checking out we had to take turns hauling our suitcases a set of three separate stair ways. Not a big deal for us but kind of a hassle.

"Stopped in for lunch"

We used the Biltmore as a meeting place during our trip and had lunch. Even though we didn't stay overnight, the staff was most accommodating and helpful. The place is clean, welcoming, and safe. Food service is well done and we felt fairly treated. If you need to get organized before of after you venture around the country I would recommend this hotel. Grocery stores are close and it is located on the good side of town (north side).

We stayed at the Biltmore for one night between our guided Light House Reef adventure and our flight home. We found the Biltmore very clean and welcoming. The front desk was prepared for our arrival and friendly. The food and drink was good. The pool and courtyard were welcoming. Our room was clean, and well appointed. We never left the hotel, but found the location very convenient to the airport.

This place is not situated along the beach; neither does it have a casino. But the Biltmore is the hotel you are looking for if you want smooth excellent service away from the hustle and bustle of city life. The service is excellent, receptionist, kitchen staff, room service and all its employees are well trained. Your stay will definitely be remarkable that you will want to return. We notified the Best Western Plus hotel that we needed to be picked up at the San Pedro Express Water Taxi Port the day before and the morning of pick up. Once we arrived there was no Shuttle to pick us up. We called 6 or 7 times each time giving us a story of lies (they are there, they should be there any minute, look for a white van, and we sent a taxi)......so many stories and lies a white Best Western Plus Van finally showed up 1 hour late; the distance from the hotel to the port was only 12 min away. Just to put it out there there fare was $7.50 US. Once we got to the hotel of course I made a comment............another couple in the lobby shared a similar story of the hotel not being on time. Additionally, a family was being charged for 3 rooms instead of 2. My REAL beef is they charged us $25 dollars to go to the airport. I immediately told ELLIS at the front desk "that is way too much." ELLIS then said it is a 20 to 30 minute drive. LIE LIE LIE, ELLIS lied we were in the taxi for about 10 minutes. Our commute from the water taxi was longer; due to traffic and it cost us $7.50, but to the airport it was $25. I feel like the "WORST WESTERN PLUS" scammed us of $25.00 And ELLIS at the front desk is a LIAR LIAR LIAR. In our visit to Belize I feel we were only scammed once and it was this hotel. This hotel definitely lacks integrity and customer service.

Mr. Ronald we do apologize for that but there is a rate of US$25 one way from the international airport to the hotel. Mr. Ellis did not lie this is the rate that our hotel charges and yes the rate to the water taxi is US$7.50. The rates are displayed on the back of the seat of the van for all guest to see. "A bit of BILTMORE in Belize..."

As a lover of the BILTMORE Estate in North Carolina USA, I was excited to stay here since it shared the same name. I guess I was hoping that meant I was in for some of the same kinda treats you get when you stay at the original Biltmore, just on a lesser scale. Well I was sadly very disappointed indeed. After placing my silly expectations aside, this hotel is by far the nicest in Belize City, however it is over priced for what you actually get. It was clean thou, and that was super important to us. The Sunday brunch was fairly nice, but again lacking on what was hoped for. The pool is nice, but kinda small. We really did end up liking our experience here in the end thou. The new bar was an added bonus, the gym needs needs lots of work... The front end staff could be more kind and helpful. The resturant/bar staff we a delight and great! Over all pretty good!

Last year when I stayed here I had very little to say that was positive BUT wow has this place improved! Rooms have been remodeled & updated. Dining room is very appealing & has a new modern clean look. The breakfast buffet & omelet station are great. The restaurant menu selections have been improved. The old bar has been redone. Pool is clean & refreshing. The staff at reception were friendly & professional. The manager of the restaurant kept everything running smoothly & put a lot of effort & care into his job. He is very attentive to details & seeing the guests are looked after. The waitresses looked very professional & their attitude was friendly & caring. They were constantly scanning the room for opportunities to better serve their customers. Congratulations to all!

Let me start off by saying that in all the years (7) we have traveled to Belize I think I have left 1 negative review. We are previous resort / restaurant owners and customer service was our life blood for 20 years. When in Belize we always enjoyed quirky places where food and service definitely were not US standards. WE LOVED THAT, we did NOT expect or want US standards, that's why we come to Belize. However, when you are the Best Western in Belize City charging premium prices for lodging, food and drink then you better deliver! We started off by booking online (online site stated check in starting at 2pm) and calling to confirm check in time. We explained we had a very important business meeting at 3:30 and needed to be in our room as early as posible,1-2 pm preferred. We were told no problem. When we arrived a little before 1pm we were told room was unavailable so we were directed to the bar to wait. Over a few Belkin beers we watched at least a dozen couples go to there rooms while we waited. At 2:30 we went to the front desk to inquire and again while waiting in line at the desk 1/2 a dozen couples were directed to their rooms. After talking to front desk again we finally got to our room at 3:00, just enough time to clean up the jungle funk for our meeting. Food / beverage, where do I start? Again, we love the vibe of Belize and the laid back atmosphere, but service was terrible and food was at best mediocre. We were in the bar, yes it was busy but "expletive" we watched tables wait 40 minutes for someone to take their order, people standing at the bar trying to get a drink walked out frustrated because NO ONE was taking care of customers. If I owned this business I would have flipped out. Not only was it incredibly poor service but they lost a ton of revenue! We got one drink and sat with empty glasses for 30 minutes, I did not complain because other tables nearby waited over 40 minutes with no drinks. This was not an isolated event but happened multiple times. Dinner at the restaurant was a joke. Premium prices for terrible service & mediocre food. Food brought and left with no silverware, literally a cup and 1/2 of romaine lettuce in a Ceaser costing $ 25.00 BZ, yes I know lettuce is expensive but come on! 2 small Crab cakes a 1/4 of an inch thick with no discernable crab. Trying to get a server to get another drink or a check was a complete joke, confusion reined supreme. The list goes on and I am getting mad all over again. I tried to talk to food & beverage manager but restaurant was very busy and I could see the stress on her face. I told her to take care of her customers (priority #1) and I would try to see her later. Unfortunately we never connected. We literally have had MUCH better food & service at dive bars form Caye Caulker to PG for a LOT less money! The one thing we noticed was the remodeling, the place looks nice and pool area was great. However, when your food & service do not match appearances it really does not matter. So from a tourist point of view it was very disappointing. From someone with experience in the business the blame falls directly on the managers! We know from experience that every restaurant can have a bad day, it happens. This however appeared to be a lack of training and procedures for staff to follow. A training program should be in place for a staff. If you have a program in place throw it out and start again. Shame on you for placing your staff in an impossible position. We have stayed here at least 3 times, will we stay again?, maybe. I would be curious to see if improvement was made.

My check in was easy and the room is exactly how it looks in the picture the junior suite is great for a long stay with the mini kitchen it allows me to save money and relax on these rainy days {it has been quite rainy as expected}. But with efficient WiFi and plenty of cable channels to choose from I am enjoying my stay... anything's is better then freezing cold weather. I also have my own car so it's easy to get around and tour and live like a local. The food here is good and the staff has been very nice and friendly,my room has been cleaned appropriately and efficiently. So far I have no problems or complaints

We felt safe at all times but the hotel was just so-so. 1. Food, not bad but not great either. No one got sick so that was a plus. Service was slow but they were friendly. 2. Location...not so good. Had to take a taxi everywhere. Stay in Belize City or on one of the islands if you want to be closer to restaurants and the water taxi. 3. Room...clean and basic. A.C. struggled in humidity and dripped condensation on floor but kept it cool enough to sleep. 4. Maid service...starts at 7am. They stand outside your room and roll their carts. They are talking and sometimes yelling...very annoying. Basically, this place is so-so. It is clean and safe.

My wife and I were met at the airport by Blass, who provided a very friendly welcome - and first impression of Belize. The hotel was great - had drinks by the pool - and the air conditioning was awesome in the room, too. "Services not good enough, staff lies to you"

The hotel is approx. 15 minutes drive from city center. This meams when ever you want to do something (lunch, dinner, tourism take bus or water taxi) you have to take hotel shuttle or a cab. It is not cheap. My room was okay. Showers, TV, furniture all okay. Very clean. No minibar? I hear from other guest that they have a minibar. Not here. The grounds, the pool, the outside in inside dining- breakfast area beautiful. Now the services: My room (and my friends room) was not done by 4pm. Unacceptable. After dinner I ordered Crepe Suzette. For those of you not knowing what it is; A very thin pancake made out water and flour, topped with a little orange, Grand Marnier and Cognac. I do it often at home. The waitress came back saying they run out of ingredients to do the Crepe Suzette....? I explained that this is not possible, send her back to the kitchen. A while later she came back saying, that the cook has to prepare everything from scratch and he did not want to make us wait so long...? I explained that it takes not even 10 min. to make that Crepe from scratch. I asked her to see the cook. She disappeared, the cook seemed to be not existent, Never came. While we were leaving the Restaurant the Manager came, I explained, she said if I wanted it could be prepared quickly (oh yes???). Thanks, no. No more appetite for Crepe Suzette. At the bar; I had a drink (never had it before) the first night, did not like it to much. Second night I thought I try another one I know, order a Pin Colada. Not liking it again. I inquired at the bar, it seemed that the drink had no alcohol. Response; They can only out in once otherwise the have to pay taxes? Now I definitely felt cheeted. The next day I told everything to the receptionist. She was flabbergasted. The lady in charge came to see me, apologised, agreeing that this was indeed unacceptable. They offered a free breakfast. I declined. We got a free ride to the city. We appreciate that. The staff needs to be trained that delivering services is not optional and when in the mood to. And that you don't tell white lies to your guest. I use Best Western quote often in the US, most of the time more than happy.

For this business with a day of pleasure trip I chose my "Home". It improves a little bit with each trip. This time I noticed the new rooms are finished and the wifi was strong. My room was clean and the staff was always friendly. Good to see so many faces there time after time. Little turnover means good management.

We've been to Belize a couple times and I can't say much for most of the places we'd stayed previously. This place looked to be on the new side so we tried it. Really delightful. Nice comfortable rooms, clean and cozy, new fresh bedding, comfortable beds. Amenities like shampoo and conditioner. The included am breakfast was delicious. PM they had good cookies.

"Great experience at Best Western Belize"

This hotel has exceeded my expectation. My daughter traveled to Belize getting sick just before we got on our plane in Washington DC. It was a horrible day of travel. She had a fever. She is 17 so she handled it the best she could. We kept her on Ibuprofen-just so she could get through the plane ride. As a mother I was very worried to travel outside of the United States with a sick child. But we had a week and a half trip planned and my husband reassured me it would work out. We got to the hotel. On the way there our taxi driver said we would be safe to walk to the local grocery store from our hotel. It was an easy walk. At the grocery store I asked about a doctor. There was this green house they told us to visit, they were closed by the time we got there. My daughter was feeling ok-we thought we could all do the excursion we planned on Friday. But my daughter got worse during the night. My husband talked to the front desk-they called a doctor to come to the hotel to see my daughter in our room. My husband and son went on the excursion, but he did not want me to travel to the green house by myself to go to the doctor. But the hotel took care of everything. The doctor was great. He even came back at the end of his work day to check on my daughter to see how she was doing. He ordered her an antibiotic which as also delivered to the hotel. The doctor cost us $50 US dollars. This was better and cheaper care than we have ever had in US. The hotel also made my daughter checked soup-even though it was not on the menu that day. I do not have enough good things to say about this hotel. It was so reassuring to be taken care of when outside of the country. This story could have gone a different direction, but so thankful that God worked out all the details for our family. Thank you to the staff for going above and beyond for my family. "Full of surprises"

This is a surprisingly good place to stay. We stayed here for two nights, before and after a trip to one of the islands. The rooms are fairly basic, but well equipped, quiet and comfortable. The hot water control for the showers takes a bit of getting used to. The biggest surprise was the quality of food in the restaurant. Helpings are generous. The fresh catch was a fabulous grilled whole snapper, complete with bones and head. It was presented on a large platter adorned with limes - and was absolutely fabulous. Super fresh and cooked to perfection. The portions are generous, so consider sharing. Wait staff was fabulous - particular mention to Kimberley at breakfast. The breakfast omelette station is really good which is included in the excellent buffet. The poolside bar was undergoing some construction while we were there so a bit noisy. Josephine the bartender makes a great Margarita, and the local beer is excellent. Try the stout. Fortunately, the signs banning food and drink around the pool are ignored. This is a great place to stay close to the airport. The main drawback is that it is a bit of a trick into town. Otherwise a great place to stay.

"Halfway between Municipal and International Airport"

After two weeks in Belize we needed an overnight spot. It's about 11km from Municipal and International airports. We had a great dinner in the restaurant (ask for grilled fish of the day) and out in the morning. Breakfast started too late in the morning for us, but there was coffee in the lobby. Ice Machine spewed out cubes all night long which was a bit loud, and there's a choir of barking dogs nearby. Staff were friendly in helping me get on wifi and service was prompt.

We had the good fortune to meet general manager Ted at a reception at the outdoor lounge. He is passionate about his job and this hotel, and is doing a great job spreading his passion to the staff. This Best Western is much nicer than the typical Best Western in the US. Lovely tile floor in rooms, updated furniture and nice linens. Nice pool area. The air conditioning in this hotel is really good. The built in AC units are newer and well maintained. GM Ted understands how important air conditioning is to Americans and does a great job of conveying that to his staff. I personally do not love AC but was glad to have it during our Dec. 2017 stay at this Best Western because it was hot and humid. We stayed in another hotel in Belize without AC- didn't sleep so well that night due to high humidity. We did not eat at the restaurant at this hotel. Jennifer at front desk, lady in gift shop and housekeeping all very competent and personable. Great location- close to airport and downtown. They have a shuttle that will drive you for a few dollars. 2 free water bottles in room each day.

"Second Stay, would go again"

Stayed at the Biltmore after an 8-day tour of Maya temples and Half-moon Caye snorkel/kayak adventure. The hotel seemed cleaner than when we visited 6 years ago. The restaurant qualityhas definitely improved. Front desk was extremely helpful, laundry was handled efficiently and on time (although a bit pricey). We think this hotel is a far better value than the fancier Ramada by the waterfront,

best western very friendly staff - from front desk, gift shop, housekeeping, restaurant, shuttle service & bar, everyone was all smiles & ready to assist. plenty of parking which is nice to have in belize city. made a great home base for seeing belize. grounds were kept beautiful, staff was sweeping the patios & cleaning the pools early in the morning. room had safe to keep belongings. recommend the cajun porkchops the only improvement i can recommend is higher water pressure in the shower.

We had a very nice stay at this hotel around Christmas. The room is clean and quiet. Pool is big and clean. Onsite restaurant services breakfast and lunch buffets, and order by manual dinner. Food was delicious and the staff was friendly and professional. We loved it and will consider to book again in the future.

I had a very good time in one week staying in this nice hotel.The receptionist Jennifer was informative and friendly. Room had many facilities; TV,air condition,coffee maker,safety box,refrigerator,hair dryer,and iron and was very clean.The lobby was very delightful with computer accessing to the internet and also provided 24/7 fresh coffee and pastries. The gift shop Ms. Maria helped me to plan some tours. The restaurant had indoor and outdoor area and provided a variety food and fruit buffet for breakfast and lunch with nice staff. Do not miss sir-lion steak. There are some outer clean and beautiful planted places. There is a bar beside the pool area.

We were woken at 6:15am by staff in the ice machine, the safe was broken, you have to pay for water, they have no laundry facilities, they do not buy back after $140.00 at the bar. You have to pay for the airport shuttle.

The good: The pool is nice, big and clean. The pool area has a large sitting area. My daughter loved her cinnamon french toast. The check in was quick. The bad: I agree the rooms are just ok, not worth price of one seven teen. The restaurant takes for ever to bring your food.

"Stopover in Belize City"

Marcela at front desk was warm and welcoming-even remembered me upon my return visit a week later. Grounds are pretty, gym pretty good size for hotel lots of cardio equipment. Conference rooms appeared to be booked on the two weekends I was there. One evening very loud music ran quite late- thank you to Marcela for the room away from the festivities:). Room was okay and clean. Could use a touch up ( missing drawer pulls/shower grout refresh).... overall nice stay with pleasant staff.

"Quiet and secure"

This Best Western Hotel is a great place to stay when I have business in Belize City. It is convenient to both the international and the municipal airports. The hotel restaurant is quite good (I recommend the Serre Soup for dinner) with a nice selection of wine. It was too cold to use the pool while I was there, but it looks inviting. The fitness facility is one of the best equipped I have seen at any hotel.

The room and pool were the only good thing about the place. Food was horrendous, service was just as bad. Wait time for a meal was forever, when it did come it was cold and tasteless. Waitstaff is literally clueless and very inattentive.

Expensive, not worth the price. The food was expensive and poor. There was no porter service although my wife uses a cane. The shower tub did not drain and the shower had lots of mold, also the bathroom floor was in bad condition. The hair dryer did not work. The pillows were half size. Their shuttle charges $25 US for the 10-minute ride to the airport.

"Avoid the food"

Ok, hotel on initial view is clean, staff are laid back and friendly as you would expect in Belize. Room was a double and comfy, decent tv, coffee on tap, no complaints on that front. However, the food menu is bizarre. And suspect the chef doesn't taste or inspect food going out. Breakfast every morning was a farce. Long waiting times, for mediocre helping, and apparently the English breakfast is a continental one. Yuk. Anyway the only safe choice on the menu was eggs and toast, everything else seems to be covered in sugar or some horrid jam concoctions?? Don't expect proper milk as everything is either condensed or uht, understandable in the climate but surely fridge lorries exist here?? If your room is anywhere near the pool don't plan an early night, you can be kept awake by lots in the pool at any hour of the am on return from the pub. Or maybe a function is being held like a cocktail party u had no intentions of joining lol. Or perhaps steel drum bands are your thing? Practice night is Tuesday as I recall, loved the pink panther at 11ish. Not. For what it is its food is extortion, car parking is inadequate, food is slow and nothing like the standards you would expect at home. It's saving grace are the staff who try their best under poor management conditions. The old saying you get what you pay for is untrue of this hotel.

The Hotel has a pool and a very good restaurant. It was clean and the staff was very attentive. Unfortunately the street is under construction what makes very difficult to walk around. It's near the International Airport and have a complementary shuttle.

"Only okay"

I am here for three nights and am finishing my stay. The staff is very nice if not totally laid back, and my room is very basic if not shabby. Think $10 pink lamps and blue walls with white chips in the paint. Food at the restaurant isn't that good and the service is extremely slow. The day I arrived I ordered a soda with my lunch twice and it never arrived. At breakfast the next day, I made sure that I got a cup of coffee, but they use canned mik. My Thanksgiving dinner was better and they were more attentive. Anyway, not all of Belize is like this.. I was at the Radisson just before coming here, and it was a completely different experience.

Nice room, comfortable, bed was a bit too soft for my taste. Some staff were fabulous, others average. Breakfast was good, not great. Dinner was good. It rained the entire time so I didn't try the pool. Bar drink was good.

Great place to stay! 4th trip to Belize this year and 4th time staying at this hotel. No complaints at all! Each morning they dust the outside wooden railings and sweep/clean the pool!! That says alot. You can also hire the Shuttle out for trips to some of the outer districts.

Took the family to what would have been an otherwise tasteful sunday brunch at the Biltmore. The food was terrible, the rice was not cooked well as it has a crunch to it when chewed upon. Over the past years we have enjoyed our sundays at the Biltmore. But as of recent we will be eating elsewhere.

"Really nice American-style hotel"

It was very hot and humid when we visited, so having a modern hotel with good air conditioning was important. In addition, there was really nowhere close to go for breakfast, so we ate there and it was always good. The menu was varied enough to eat there 5 days in a row and not get tired of it. (Try the Fry Jack - yummy) We also ate dinner there and it was always good. The room was large and clean and the staff was really friendly and helpful. The downside is that the hotel is a little isolated but you really need a car in Belize City anyway.

Room was very comfortable... WIFI was a tiny bit slow... Hot water was an issue in the morning but overall, the experience was fantastic! Would definitely do this again and recommend others to their hotel.

"Good hotel, bad location"

The Best Western Pus Biltmore Plaza is a good hotel for business, facilities are clean and adequate, there are conference rooms and It has a very well equipped gym, a SPA, a nice pool, a bar with nice cocktails and the restaurant has very good food, although coffee could be better and service is a bit slow. Every room as A.C. which is great, and the beds are quite comfortable. WiFi is little slow particularly at nights and my TV had problems with the image (it kept freezing). There are a lot of channels on the TV from many parts of the world which is interesting. Service at the front desk was excellent, they are very helpful and all the hotel personnel is really nice. My least favorite attribute of the hotel is its location, it is not near the city center so there is not much that can be done around it. The only way to get to the city centre is by taxi (around $15 BZ one way) or by bus (not recommended). Overall my experience was very good, and I would recommend it if you have an event in the hotel, or if you are staying just for a few nights.

"Good Business Hotel"

I accompanied my spouse on a business trip to Belize City and we decided to just stay in the same hotel over the weekends. This meant we spent 10 nights there. For a business hotel, this place has all the amenities - shuttle to the airport, long hours in the gift shop, breakfast buffet, wifi, good laundry service, pool and bar. As a vacation hotel in Belize City, it is a bit far from everything. There are only 2 restaurants nearby and they are hard to get to at the moment due to the street construction. You have to take a taxi or the shuttle to get to an ATM or grocery store. You aren't near any attractions. They are upgrading the place, which I appreciate, because the types of things they are doing (new flooring, new bar at the pool) are what you need in order to stay current. However, if you are going to be in your room during the day, be sure to ask to be away from the construction. (We were offered a different room after I mentioned it to the desk).

Joined my husband on his business trip he stayed 4 nights, I stayed for 2 nights. Hotel rooms 2 star quality. Beds okay. Amenities basic. Decor out dated. Tiled floors. The food was okay. I recommend the blacked snapper with rice and beans and steamed veggies for dinner. Breakfast there's a buffet. Lunch there's a buffet as well. If you are in a hurry don't eat in the restaurant; the staff is friendly but SUPER SLOW! They bring over the trip advisor survey to your table after the meal smart way to get higher ratings!..wish it asked about the speed of service. We rented a car but if you are staying here, I recommend you DO NOT. Parking is HORRIBLE! there was a group scheduled to meet at the hotel so security blocked off about 10 parking spots and asked us to park in back which was an unattended ALLEY!! If felt unsafe so we waited for a guest to leave so we could get their spot. The water pressure is extremely low so you have to hold the lever down to flush.. so you know the plunger was the next request! Urrrh. To top it off I saw something in the floor that looked strange which after turning on the light was a dried up dead baby lizard!!! Yikes gross! My husband almost picked it up thinking it was lint or something. Warning open atrium so don't stay on the first floor space under door! Lizard city! Plan to come back to Belize and stay on the south side with the beach! Not much on this side there's a Mayan ruins and a local beach but you can't get in the water. Disappointing.

"Best Hotel in Belize City"

We always stay here when we're in Belize City. It's the nicest hotel in the city and has 24-hour secured parking. The rooms were recently remodeled and the hotel has a beautiful courtyard area with a swimming pool and bar. The restaurant food is pretty good and we appreciate the room service!

Back again, lost track of number of visits. As always improvements are being made during each trip. The gym has been slightly expanded. They were doing construction by the bar. It is now a Best Western plus. No complaints. Mr.Tejada is doing a great job. The Wifi is strongly improved over previous visits. No buffering or lost signals.

"Decent for Belize City area"

Room was decent for the area , however it wasn't comfortable. The bathrooms were dirty . The shower looked like it had not been cleaned in months. The bathroom stayed humid the entire night even though we had the ac blasting. The locks on the room were not strong enough and kind of loose and wobbly . The bed was comfortable except for the fact that I woke up with bed bug bites and we also found dead bugs on the bed when we arrived . We ordered 2 Belikin lights and they gave us 2 originals. We ordered pineapple on our pizza and it didn't come with any pineapple. We only ate 2 slices of the whole pizza.The wings were actually good but we both had diarrhea a few hours after eating .

Based on what I read prior to my trip, I did not want to spend any time in Belize City. But with a 7:45am departure flight, I felt that we had no other viable option so I researched hotel options and travel forum input on Trip Advisor. Like many, I was a little freaked out about all the stories of crime, gangs, etc., so I made plans with some trepidation. My family flew into Belize City a week earlier on a red eye, and then we waited an hour in the airport before flying out again on a Tropic Air flight south to Hopkins. I was torn between the Best Western Biltmore and the Ramada, based upon reviews, but ultimately I decided to book at the Best Western since it was closer to the airport and seemed slightly better from reviews I read. That said, it is a very simple, basic hotel (motel?). It was FINE. Not bad, not great but it served our needs. After having spend 4 wonderful days on the beach in Hopkins and 4 days in the jungle in the Cayo district, spending our last night in country at the Best Western felt like a bit of a let down (but necessary due to our departure). I never saw the Ramada or any other hotels so i can't share an opinion about them. We were arriving by van from Cayo and were dropped off around 5:30pm. Check in was easy and friendly. The woman working at the front desk was helpful and explained options for transportation to the airport, wifi logins, and apologized for construction underway around the pool and near our room. I had booked the room and paid ahead of time via trip advisor, and there were no issues concerning payments, etc. Our room was as described, with 2 queen beds and working air conditioning. Our expectations were very low and all I can say is that the room was fine. The room was relatively dark and fairly well worn, but the bathroom was fine, towels were provided, there was a working safe, etc. The pool bar area was undergoing construction but it was open for business and there were about 10 people relaxing around the pool. My son and I swam for about 45 minutes before dinner and I had a few drinks from the bar. The staff there was very friendly. We ate dinner at the restaurant on the property and it was fine. The menu is pretty extensive so there's something for everyone...from pasta to lobster. Many surprising random dishes I didn't expect to see in Belize. We ended up ordering a few pizzas and a pasta dish, all were pretty good, although unnecessarily expensive for what they were and where we were. Ordering and service were slow but out waitress was friendly and apologized and delivered whatever we asked for. Construction around the pool stopped as it got dark, so noise wasn't an issue at all. The 2 queen beds were soft but pretty comfortable. My biggest complaint about our stay was the condition of the sheets and the bed. We are easy going seasoned travelers, but multiple stains on the sheets made us wonder if they had even been cleaned. We slept fine. The next day I did notice multiple small red bite marks on my feet, ankles and legs (they weren't there before), but I cannot be sure where they came from...the bed, eating outside? I'm suspicious though that it was bugs in the room. Departure went smoothly the next morning. No issues at checkout. The shuttle van arrived about 15 minutes late and was too small to fit all the groups heading to the airport at the same time, so they had to retrieve a larger van, which took another 5-10 min. We all barely fit but the ride to the airport is short and we still arrived with plenty of time. In the future, I'd prefer to avoid Belize City altogether and come in just in time for a departure flight, but I was subject to the one direct flight per day, so maybe that's not possible. For $197 (USD, including tax), the Best Western has a far higher image of itself than my family and I suspect most people who stay there. It felt safe, which is what we paid for in the long run. As I said, the hotel is FINE, if you find yourself in my same situation, I can recommend it...just manage your expectations.

We have presently upgraded all our sheets to triple sheeting. I am sure that the bites on your leg did not come from any bud in the rooms as this is something we do not have. We have notice this issue with returning guest who receive sand fly bites. These are small bugs that are around coastal zones in Belize and you do not notice the bites until the following day. You can apply hydrocortisone or calamine lotion directly to the bites to help them heal and reduce itching. Oatmeal baths and aloe vera can also soothe itching. "As good as it gets in the city"

We stayed here our last 2 nights before flying back home. There aren't many hotel chains (nor are there luxury hotels) to choose from in the city that's close to the airport and this was one of 3 of the higher rated places that was recommended online and by others we asked in Belize. Our first night we were given a room downstairs by the pool and near an ice maker. The room smelled of mosquito spray (I think). What made our night difficult was having the ice maker dump ice every hour of the night or so it seemed. My wife and I woke up constantly. The staff were very accommodating, however, and gave us an upstairs room the following morning. What a difference! We had high ceilings, no smell whatsoever, and there was a bathtub. What impressed me the most about the hotel was the restaurant. Everything was good. I really enjoyed their pork chops. Breakfast was good too. I had the french toast. My wife shared pancakes with our boys.

The pool was a bit unclean because of all the people in it. You're better off leaving and eating somewhere else. The drinks are weak and the restaurant is too expensive. The staff there is extremely happy and helpful.

"Late lunch"

Three of us found ourselves in Belize City and hungry after many places close after lunch, so we ventured into the restaurant at the Best Western. We were too late for the buffet which closes at 2:30. But we did have the Serre soup which was excellent. It is a fish soup in coconut milk. We tried to eat outside but there is construction right now and very noisy so we came back in. But the garden would be a lovely spot once the work is done. Service could have been a little more attentive. It was several minutes after we were seated before anyone approached us with menus. The menu did offer a nice selection of appetizers and sandwiches, and main courses. The dining room is noisy, so difficult to have a conversation . It would benefit from some form of sound dampening.

The hotel may be called a Best Western but it has got to be one of the nicest Best Westerns in their chain. Yes it is out of the way but it is near the airport, it is also closer to the countryside if you are using this hotel as a base location for business or to explore the country (e.g. cave tubing, the zoo, ATM). The hotel is set out in a 'U' shape with the central courtyard filled with lovely plants, tropical birds, lizards, the pool and bar. You can eat at the outdoor bar also. Pizzas are good and large. The rooms are basic but mine was clean. The souvenir/hotel shop is very good. Good selection of items at reasonable prices. Note though if you specifically want to buy local rum, the Traveller's Distillery is near by so go there.

"Dump"

Allegedly one of the best hotels in Belize. It's a dump. Rooms are torn up, bathroom was disgusting, and they decided to have a birthday party in the boardroom next to our room...until 11pm. Super helpful with two young kids and an early flight out. Best part of this hotel was the shuttle driver to the airport...should have been for $25.

An OK place to stay near the airport, if one ignores various drawbacks. Not good value for money. Hotel does not provide airport shuttle service but does provide a taxi, which was expensive. Look around for a better deal among hotels,. Almost forgot to say that there is no elevator, as the staff told us cheerfully. So, we are in Belize and should not expect such strange amenities? So why the American prices on room and food and taxi?

Overall it was a good hotel. Pool was nice but a bit on the small size. Rooms were comfortable, but the tap water is not safe to drink or brush with; 1 bottle of filtered water is provided per day and there is also filtered water in the lobby. For a Best Western it would expected the running water to be filtered. Food is more costly than expected for that part of the world, but the dinner meals were large enough to share (i.e., pizza) so that helped with the costs. For the price in Belize city this is properly the best hotel pick.

Pleasant and helpful staff, when we had a problem they were attentive and available. The rooms were clean and the beds comfortable. The hotel is located close to the airport. The restaurant service was good and the food was decent , although the delivery was a little slow because of unexpected large turnout of guests.

"Over priced"

Its Belize City not a resort on the Cayes so the high cost of the rooms reflects the fact that there are really only three hotels worthy of consideration in the entire city in my opinion.Basically you would only stay here the night before flying out of the International airport. The A/C in the room stunk of mold and that is unexcusable. It takes minutes to maintain the A/C to prevent theguests from breathing moldy damp air. When you are paying about a hundred dollars more than the room should cost you expect it to a tleast be clean. The one redeaming item of our one day visit was that a large group of police officers were there and the lunch buffet we were allowed to join in on was excellent. Come on management get the rooms cleaned up!

This best western had nice rooms and an even nicer pool. The staff weren't that friendly and it seems like they do not really want to talk to you. They did give us a wifi code for our stay though and that was nice because cell reception can be iffy here. You're not by the beach at all so enjoy the pool! The dinner they gave us were little portions that were flavor less and not filling at all. However, breakfast was a buffet and was very tasteful. When showering make sure you move the shower head so the water hits against the wall because the water kept leaking out of our tub and nearly flooded our bathroom. The beds are really comfortable so you can come here and relax after a long day exploring belize!

"Lovely grounds, Exceptional customer service"

We stayed here for 2 days before going to San Pedro Town. It is a very relaxing place. The grounds are beautiful. The rooms are clean and well sized. The desk agents were nice and helpful. The food is good, but is priced high for the quality. There is nothing around the hotel to do, which worked well for us, but may be a sticking point for others. Across the street is a Lebanese Restaurant and down a little further is a grocery store. We came to relax before hitting the island, and this is what we got. I would stay here again, and recommend it if you are looking for a relaxing place to stay out of hustle of the busy city. As to customer service: I called to cancel my booking because we were going to be a few people short of our reservation. I was told it was too late to cancel. However, the customer service in the states did everything they could to help. They even had the hotel email me to offer assistance the next day. Because of this, we decided to stay instead of going directly to the island, and I am very glad we did.

"Passing through Belize City"

We stayed for one night and it's about 20 minutes from the airport. We got a cab for half the price of the hotel shuttle (25 usd as opposed to 50) and had to wait about an hour for our room as we came in early. The hotel was good about providing early check-in (2 hrs prior) and stored our large bag for us. I would STRONGLY suggest you not get a room adjacent to the street (rm 142?-149). Move as far back to the hotel as you can as there's excessive road noise w motorcycles etc. also, near room 149 there is a water pump that will go off every few seconds and it will probably annoy you if you are a light sleeper. Also we were unable to use our toilet and had to go to lobby as we didn't realize the problem till after 9pm and nobody could fix it. So this was not optimal but the hotel went above and beyond w customer service. Manager called me a few minutes after I complained to front desk about overall experience. They provided a comp breakfast and shuttle service to airport. The room was clean, pool was nice, and the staff was very helpful. I would try this hotel again but I would not be anywhere near the street or water pump.

The hotel is nice and clean but not near that you can walk to except for the really good Lebanese restaurant across the street. The hotel provides a shuttle that goes into the center of town but the schedule was not very convenient. The best thing about the hotel is the fact that across the street you can eat really good Lebanese food. Wi-Fi coverage is very good but the maximum download speed is limited by the internet service provider in Belize. This is not the hotel's fault.

Our room was very spacious with upgraded appointments and the floors were sparkling marble, as was the vanity in the bathroom. Very favourable first impression. The dining/bar areas were immaculate, drinks very reasonable and the seafood entrees were superb. I tried their "rainbow snapper with grouper". I have not previously heard of a "rainbow snapper" and theirs with the perfectly matched sauce were divine. I really could not say I have ever stayed at a Best Western that was in the same class!

Our last night in Belize was at the BW Biltmore Plaza. Check in staff not so friendly and helpful. But the ladies working the bar by the pool that day/evening were amazing! Diane and Trish, such funny awesome ladies! The pool and gardens were so nice. The bedrooms were clean and spacious, and the beds were comfortable. The bathroom was a little outdated and no hot water. The lunch we had there was good and all the drinks were reasonably priced! A quick taxi ride from the water taxi dock to here, 5US dollars a person(3 of us). A 15 minute ride from the hotel to the airport, 25US dollars.

"Looks better beyond the construction"

The staff was very friendly and very helpful! The first room I stayed in the bathroom was dated and a little scary. I was moved to another room and it was great... This bathroom looked remodeled and I was quite happy! The pool was warm but that should be expected in the Belize heat! The poolside bar was always busy and I really enjoyed the drinks! Room service was okay., I think the serving plate covers should actually cover the plate and maybe the food would have maintained its warmth. Very nice place to stay, the only reason I didn't give it a 5 is because of early morning wake up from housekeeping...grrr!

Stayed here 28-Mar'17, as it is a very convenient jumping off spot for Island Expeditions departures out to Lighthouse & Half-Moon Caye (55 miles offshore). Room was spacious enough for 4 people, 2nd floor, everything operational in room. Quiet. Pool, supplied pool towels, & attached bar - nice touch in the heat of the day.

"Great overnight stay"

We where here last April just for a night. We were heading back from Cancun to Guatemala and always stay at the Biltmore Plaza in Belize City. We where here like 4 to 5 years ago and we saw the hotel dated, so it was a nice surprise to see how the hotel was remodeled. The manager and staff was very helpful and professional. The manager even asked the kitchen to still serve us even though it was past 10 o'clock. I notice that the hotel restaurant was also remodeled and looked great. We ordered Hawaiian pizza and it was great with lots of toppings. Some other members ordered different types of pizza and all were really good. The rooms where big, clean and all where remodeled. They had a mini fridge, coffee maker, microwave and even complementary bottled water. The Bathroom was big also with the sink outside and tub and toilet on the inside, so I could get ready while my husband took a shower. The bed was very confortable that I wished we could have spent another night here. I did not go to the morning buffet but some people in my family did and said it was very good. There is also a small store with basic necessities and where you could find some souvenirs. There is a pool and outdoor area but we did not use it since we only stayed one night.

"Dirty, no sound insulation."

Stayed here for 5 nights because of a conference. No sound insulation; I could hear the TV shows from next door room (lucky that was all!). Rooms near the pool susceptible to bar noise and the usual splattering of drunk, loud Americans that want to tell the world how great they are. Beds are incredibly uncomfortable. Floor is very slippery when wet (I fell!). Wifi was lousy in my room (13x). Would not stay here again; pity, because the staff are nice, and the food is quite good.

"Decent hotel, restaurant is a disaster, wifi is useless"

I stayed here for a week on a business trip so my review will be focused on business travelers. First, if you will be spending anytime at all working in this hotel, then you had better bring your own internet connection. 80% of the time I couldn't get any connection and the rest of the time I was getting maybe 100kb up/down. Needless to say this place is awful for a business trip. The room itself is fine, as most beach hotel do the room was entirely tiles making it easy to clean up sand. The only problem I have with this is getting out of the shower and stepping into the sink area my foot slipped and if I hadn't had ninja level reflexes and caught the door frame I would have busted my head open. I read reviews prior to staying that said the AC kept going off, this is just a simple button on the remote for auto off. Set it to 13 hours and you should be all set. Even when the temp was 85F outside my room was freezing. Other than the tile floors being slick some other observations: Bed: Fine, I slept well. Desk: Small but adequate with power available Chairs: fine Iron/Board: In Room Water Temp and Power: Fine Toilet: Takes forever to start flushing, you have to press the button (or hold handle I forget what kind) for at least 15 seconds before the water starts going down. Desk Clerks: Very friendly and competent Restaurant (Dinner only): Awful, sat for 20+ minutes with no acknowledgment and finally had to stand up walk over to a server and point to my table. Ordered a burger and a beer, it took 25+ minutes to get my beer and then another 15 to get my burger. When the burger came, even though I had said meat and cheese only it had some kind of mustardy sauce on it that was barely edible. The patties were what Eddie Murphy called "Welfare Burgers", they had green peppers and onions mixed in with some spices. Edible, but not something I would ever order again. I would highly recommend the Sahara Grill for dinner across the street, or if you must eat at the hotel use room service which arrived promptly in 30 minutes the 3 times I used it. The pepperoni pizza was not bad. Every day they gave you 2 small bottles of water for free and 1 coffee. The coffee pot is designed to take these small little pods and they give you these giant bags of coffee. You have to push and fold it to get it in the holder and then it sprays all over the place when making it. I moved the pot to the sink area to make it easier to clean up.

Please note that we provide a bath mat in each room so that you can dry your feet prior to getting out of the bathroom. if your feet are wet that tile becomes a bit slippery. "Beautiful BC hotel"

Great rooms, very comfortable and quiet. The pool and poolside bar area are a welcome sight after tours and sightseeing. Great for kids or even just hanging by the pool. Staff was extremely friendly. We stayed the last day in country and were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the hotel. We spent a week in 3 different hotels ranging from average to amazing and the Biltmore was the perfect place to end our trip. Would definitely stay again. Close to the airport, especially if you have a rental car. Only downside was the breakfast buffet was quite expensive and a bit underwhelming.

"My Birthday Buffet Breakfast"

I decided to go dutch for my birthday buffet breakfast at the the Biltmore Restaurant.We did not make reservation but the friendly staff accommodated us by quickly setting up a table to accommodate my guests. The room was clean, lighting was clear and bright for a breakfast setting. The food was nicely set up and properly label. Our table was set up by the window overlooking the garden and pool area. The staff was very kind and friendly. The waiters took our drink orders and we got our delicious breakfast which comprised of local and international cuisine. The waiters knew I was there to celebrate my birthday so after we ate our breakfast they came out with 2 slices of desserts for my sister and I since we were both celebrating birthday in the same month.They all sang for us and we sat down as long as we wanted to chit-chat and laugh to our hearts content. I would definately go back to have breakfast there. If you are visiting Belize stop in at the Biltmore Restaurant where you would be treated to a sumptuous Belizean breakfast and Belizean hospitality.

"Restaurant server very disappointing "

The room I have no complaints about, clean, ac & ceiling fan worked well, in room frig, microwave & coffee maker. Reasonably modern furnishing given it's an older hotel. Tiles in shower stall need replacing. Evening meal was a complete disaster. Waitress took 30 minutes to bring water & take drink orders. We were a table of 6. 30 minutes later several drinks were served but not mine. I politely reminded the waitress. Rather than getting my drink she turned to a group that had just sat down & took their orders & headed to the kitchen. 15 minutes later still no drink so I went to the bar, only about 30' away, got & paid for my drink. 30 minutes later several of the ordered entrees & appetizers arrived at the same time to our table, then I was told what I had ordered was not available. I then ordered wings which she said would be quick & they were, complete with a side of creamy coleslaw which was 'hot'. I don't mean room temperature or slightly warm. I didn't have any desire to get sick at the end of a wonderful vacation so I left the coleslaw & ate the wings. Then we sat & waited & waited. No sign of desert. I gave up, went to the front desk where the manager said my meal would be no charge.

"Good arrival hotel - not for long stays"

The Best Western Belize Biltmore is okay, just okay. I would recommend it a place to stay one night upon your arrival into the country - then start your adventure and move on. The rooms are clean and bug free, The beds were comfortable. But there is nothing unique or special about the rooms. The pool is nice, but there are not enough lounge chairs for the size of the facility. The restaurant is below average and the service is not very good. Waited about 30 minutes for a cup of coffee after asking 3 people, including the manager. I don't blame the employees, I just don't think they've never been trained in proper customer service - and it definitely shows. We stayed one night and then headed out to Half Moon Key. So, like I said, the hotel is okay, and tolerable for one evening.

I was impressed with the new renovations at the restaurant and pool area. I believe linen has been updated too. I really liked the lunch buffet, decor, new furniture and service. All girls are very nice and attentive. Food was good. Room looks old. There was a leak in the bathroom and walls are cracking. Bed sheets had stains and holes. Cleanliness could be better. Overall is a good hotel for the value. I most liked the staff.

"An Oasis in a Hectic City"

We used the Best Western as a stopover after our week from Ambergris Caye before flying back home the next day. The hotel was a $20US taxi drive from the Ferry Port and a &25 taxi drive to the airport for two people. The hotel is about 6 miles from the airport . Our room was sparkling clean and well appointed with a refrigerator and safe. Yes, the bathtub could stand upgrading but it was also very clean. The pool was wonderful with towels provided. We had a lovely lunch across the street at Sahara's . Overall it is a wonderful place to stay if you need a stopover before or after a flight.

It is nice seeing the same friendly faces behind the desk each time I stay for a few days.Michele, Marcia, Maria. Always smiling and welcoming. Nice to see the finshed renovations to the courtyard. This trip I caught a bacterial infection while in Guatemala and eating some local food. I was in very bad shape. The desk referred me to the hotel's Doctor, Dr. Aguero. I was in bad shape. She drove me to the blood lab and prescribed Antibiotics and 4 days later I was well enough to get on a plane back to the States. The housekeeper was so kind to check on me twice a day and make sure I had water to stay hydrated. This is not her job, but shows the type of employees at The Best Western Biltmore Plaza. It is miserable being sick alone in a foreign country but the Biltmore made it the best it could be. Plus,a great variety of cable channels made passing the time and healing go by a little quicker. Not your usual TripAdvisor review, but important.

Little did I know that this would be such a great hotel. New renovations (I'm told) mean the central courtyard and dining area are welcoming and very nicely decorated. My room (2nd floor, towards back of hotel) was a true sanctuary. Extremely comfortable and had a great feel to it. Staff were all super friendly. Jorge - the shuttle driver - was a great help.

We left a horrible hotel down the street from the Best Western Biltmore (The Red Hut) and felt like we'd landed in Paradise when we stepped into the Best Western. It was clean, cool, the rooms were large and very clean, and the pool and deck area were wonderful! There's outdoor dining near the pool and the grounds are lovely. This was a much needed retreat and we recharged our batteries and even had a relaxing massage. The food was good and the service was excellent. We would definitely stay here again.

Although our initial room had a strong odour, we were quickly offered another. The facilities are not high quality but compared to most dwellings around are luxurious. The room was a good size, the beds were very comfortable, but there was inadequate lighting. Servicing of room was variable over the five days, sometimes not as clean, sometimes not all towels were replaced, but overall adequate. Our A/C developed a rattle but was promptly fixed when reported. Breakfast at USD15 was reasonable quality, plenty of choices, varied daily but the best part was the chef on hand to cook your eggs; scrambled, pan fried or omelette. Your own transport is definitely an advantage as the place is not close to the centre but there is a good supermarket/deli nearby. The best feature of the hotel is the staff, friendly and super helpful.

It is not a bad hotel and it's not super awesome either. It's average and serves it's purpose for being close to the airport and having access to Belize City if you are between destinations. The room was clean and breakfast was decent. That's what I expect in a hotel that's a transition between point A & B. The staff is very friendly and the lady at the gift shop is lovely to talk with. No complaints at all. 4 really real, the rating is more like a 3 1/2. It's your average local Caribbean hotel and it served it's purpose for my needs. I would stay here again as a pass through.

My company hosted a business launch and small seminar at the Biltmore. All the staff were very accommodating and professional, but even more so friendly and hospitable. It was extremely easy to come in and feel relaxed while carrying out my activities. The food was well prepared and had good variety, I should have made better use of the pool. Recommendations: - Air fresheners in the rooms - Improved wifi especially as persons are often on business

I stayed at the Best Western Belize Biltmore Plaza Hotel during my recent visit to Belize. The hotel is ideally located about 15 minutes from the airport. The members of staff at the front desk and also the restaurant were very polite and resourceful. They went beyond the call of duty to ensure that I was okay. Housekeeping was excellent, as my room was well taken care of on a daily basis. Complimentary water was also placed in the room on a daily basis. My stay at this hotel was very enjoyable.

I was assured before arrival that the hotel had reliable internet. I came to visit family, and had business to take care of as well during my stay. The internet worked the first day I arrived fairly well (not so fast, but it did work). After this it was only accessible while seated in the lobby. Part of my stay was over a weekend, and the office help there could care less about getting the internet up and running for the back part of the hotel. VERY frustrating & costly also!! The rooms were very poorly cleaned each day I was there. I think the floor was not swept the entire time I was there. VERY dirty! And most days the fresh towels were still wet when they were replaced. The had to be hung out to not sour. Now for the positives. Good location on the main road. The staff in the bar & restaurant area were very friendly and helpful. I enjoyed my time there at the bar by the pool very much. The food in the restaurant was pretty decent. Breakfast buffet was very good & well worth the money. I might stay here on my next visit, but it definitely needs some work first!!

My husband and I came to Belize for a few days on vacation. The hotel is located 15 minutes away from the airport which was great. Upon checking in, we were greeted by the front desk staff who was very friendly and courteous and had a bubbly personality throughout the check-in process. Our room was quite cozy. We stayed in one of their premier rooms on the second floor. Most of our nights we ate at the hotel's restaurant. The ambiance was quite relaxing and the waitress who attended to us was friendly and made sure all our needs were taken care of. The food was excellent; The stuffed chicken is a must try. Our overall stay was quite pleasant and we intend to stay here again upon our next visit. I recommend this place to anyone travelling to Belize.

Although we had advance reservations our rooms were not yet available when we arrived, so we went to dinner first. When we returned, all was well.

Great stay!!! I checked in and out 3 times(travelled to other parts of the county)on my vacation with no hassles. Rooms were ready and clean. Staff was friendly and extremely helpful. our second check-in was a couple hours before Hurricane Earl hit and they were very well prepared. I am definitely staying at Biltmore when I return to Belize. I highly recommended this hotel.

If you looking a place just for rest, this is the place. No amenities around and quiet in the night. Have good wifi service . Employees are dedicated to their customers. Parking is small. The restaurant.....mmmm not bad but expensive considerate the ambient and food for the price. Have an area near to the pool for activities (pretty nice) ideal for weddings and special occasions with large groups. The rooms are clean and well organized , except for the tv (too small) and the bathroom does not goes with the rest of the room, needs a restoration but works fine, and the water is NOT DRINKABLE . For a few days away from the jungle is good.

The hotel is actually quite nice. The restaurant and pool are quite cool additions. Air conditioning is awesome. I showed up after the hurricane so the wifi and the ice machine were out which sucked. It took 3 hours to get our safe unlocked so we could store our passports too. The biggest complaints is the phone call scam. Due to the hurricane all the scheduled trips were cancelled so I made a lot of local calls in Belize to find out what was open. I ended up with a 70 American dollar phone bill after 3 days because they charged every phone call as long distance and every phone call that just rang 4 times (even if it didn't contact anyone) was charged 3 - 4 belizian dollars. I was in shock. Totally should have been warned.

The location was close to the airport and we picked it as we had an early morning flight the next day. The bathrooms did not look very clean. There were rusty fixtures. Despite using a lot of insect repellent we woke up covered in bug bites.

In my travels to return home to Placencia, Belize I found myself stranded in Belize City do to flight cancelations because of a fast approaching hurricane "Earl" I found my way to the Best Western Biltmore in hopes of getting a room to ride the storm out. The staff there were very professional and the accommodations were excellent! This staff stayed during the storm to help ensure everyone possible was taken care of to the best of their abilities! A huge "Thank You" goes out to the GM Ted Tejada and his front desk staff, Yvette and Maria and others not mentioned for their dedication in ensuring a comfortable stay in less than ideal weather conditions! I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling through Belize City and their dinning room served up really excellent food even after the storm had passed and we were on generators only! This is a first class crew with first class amenities! Thanks again for an outstanding experience!!

"Only Okay"

Pros: the hotel is close to the airport, clean, and has a decent pool. There is a Lebanese restaurant across the street that was quite good. Cons: sadly the food was bland and overpriced (we order nachos which are practically fool proof but the chips were stale and meat not tasty), the pool bar played loud music/karaoke for a nearly empty bar, the restaurant was very bright and fluorescent (no ambience) and the bathroom was dated and dingy. If it is your last night and you have an early flight or you arrive late and don't have time to go to the Cayes, this is a fine place to pass through. If you are staying for more than a night, it wouldn't be a satisfactory visit to a country that has some amazing places to stay out of the city.

Don't expect to get checked into your room early. We didn't get our room until about 5pm after a two hour wait. The rooms are comfortable. We did wake up in the middle of the night to discover our room was flooded. Never could figure out why. Thankfully they had one room available and we made the move. The swimming pool is nice.

"Stop over"

I had a night to kill before I met my partner and this was the best place that I could have stayed. As soon as I got to the bar, Sammy and the bar crew along with the Belikin folks (there for an employee party) were super warm and welcoming. The pool/ bar is great and the breakfast is awesome as well. The City isn't a great attraction but if you are going to stay there on your journey, I heartily recommend the Best Western. The drivers were also incredibly kind and accommodating. Happy travels!!

Our room was very nice and clean and stayed at a pretty comfortable temperature. The beds were the most comfortable that we slept in our entire time in Belize. The bathroom was a little bit more rough looking, but it still looked clean. The staff was helpful and got us a cab to the airport the next morning. However, we thought there was a free shuttle based off of their website and were disappointed when we found out it cost $25 US to get to the airport. The restaurant in the hotel is overpriced especially for the quality and the taste of the food so if you have a way to safely get around Belize City I would recommend finding another place to dine.

The room was clean and large, the a/c worked wonderfully, and it's within walking distance of a grocery store. The man that ran many of their taxis (unfortunately I can't remember his name, but I think it may have started with a 'J') was incredibly helpful and had great prices. Finally -- I managed to leave my iPad in the sheets on accident. When I called back a week later, it was there--and they graciously sent the taxi driver to the airport with it. Thank you Sharifa (I think that's the name left on the lost and found note) for your care in finding it and turning it in! Truly great staff and a great hotel.

The proximity to the Belize Airport is good. The room was a nice size and there is a restaurant on premise. The food is nothing exciting but it is fine for a stop over before a flight. The gym is clean and has a few different options for a workout. The staff is very helpful and friendly. The hotel has a shuttle which is convenient. My only concern was the bathroom had mold in the shower. the rest of the room was very clean and spacious. The bathroom needs to be gutted. the grounds are manicured with a pool.

"Disappointing stay"

The room was lovely, cool and spacious, bathroom area looked like it had seen better days, grouting missing, shower head needing a descale but the room was clean and the bed very comfortable. Food slightly over priced for what you get, would be better to eat out. Evening staff helpful and friendly, day staff blunt and unsympathetic to issues. Maintenance work was happening and they turned off the water and electric for safety but didn't tell anyone nor was the day staff helpful when I complained. No signs had been put up to let us know and the water & electric was off for over 20 hrs yet still no compensation or apologies. If you are intending on staying in Belize go to another hotel

The accommodations were very nice, very clean, and comfortable. The staff were all helpful and courteous. Our only complaint is that the Wi-Fi was weak and somewhat slow in the rooms. The restaurant was very nice with great service. A buffet was offered for breakfast,which was complementary, and lunch. There was a nice variety of foods and the food was tasty.

We were very tired and hot when we arrived . It was a super place to stay . The hotel was super clean updated and the food was fine . The staff were efficient and kept us informed about our travel. I would reccomend this hotel if you need a place outside of downtown Belize City .

I came here for a family birthday celebration and my first visit to Belize. From the check in to check out our time here was great, Mariela was able to easily combine my reservation and made it seamless.. I absolutely loved the service we received from Kimberly in the dinning room. She was beyond exceptional. Kimberly's customer service made our stay even that more delightful. Our room was clean and spacious. The grounds are beautiful. Unfortunately I did get a chance to get in the pool but it looked very well kept. The reason I didn't give 5 stars is because during our family birthday party the servers looked so angry. Not one of them were smiling. I felt like I was imposing on them when asking for something at the buffet. Other than than I would definitely come back and recommend it to my other family members.

I came here for a solo adventure and I found this booking through TripAdvisor. I would say it was decent but not my first choice for future options. Employees: The employees of the hotel were very friendly and helpful. Having a great staff makes an amazing difference. Transportation: They had a shuttle service that basically would take me anywhere I wanted in Belize. The staff even arranged for me my shuttle to and from the airport. I do believe some of the prices I received for transportation was a little outrageous though. Amenities: The pool was nice and there was a green area in the back. I didn't get a chance to make it to the workout room to give a review on that but there is one. There is a restaurant and bar on site as well. The restaurant didn't have the best food and there were little flies flying all over it. Hotel Room: There were gaps in the doors which bugs could get through. There was cable in the room which was good for watching tv. The wifi didn't work well in the hotel room. The lighting was poor but the air conditioning was good. There was a refrigerator in the room (not all rooms have one) but it didn't work. There were a few little flies in my room. The maid also was slow on cleaning the rooms. I went on an all day tour and sat by the pool. I came back to the room to get into the shower just to see the maid just then cleaning my room. I was so frustrated with that as I all I wanted was to take a shower and lay down.

"Not a good value proposition."

I am here for business. This is my first night in the hotel and I have received some indication of customer service. Front desk confirmed availability of standard amenities such as room service. During dinner away from my family, I work and I Skype with the heart of my heart. Restaurant is changing menus. None are available in the rooms. No one cares. The only solution offered is to come to the restaurant. And $40 for a 10" pizza? Who pays that? This hotel claims four stars. On its best day it is only a 3.

"Not the usual BW experience "

The Pros: Location to airport is convenient. The pool area and gardens are clean and well kept. The staff is pretty friendly (not as friendly as we've experienced in other parts of Belize but nice enough.) They arrange a shuttle to the water taxis for Caye adventures and shuttles to the airport. Rooms were clean and served their purpose to have a place to sleep for the night. The AC and Wifi worked well! The Cons: Rooms seemed to be a bit outdated. Our room door had a gap at the top allowing for warm air to enter the room. The food at the onsite restaurant was average at best. Music in the pool area was a bit loud and required us to move beach chairs to get away from it :) Overall it served it purpose as a place to stay before catching an early flight but I definitely wouldn't make this hotel a place to stay for multiple days in a row. My experience with Best Western in other countries has been exceptional. This one just didn't quite live up to the standards set forth by the others.

"Great spot in Belize"

Not your typical Best Western, in that its designed to be a resort, but its more like a compound with a bar, pool and a restaurant. With that being said, it will foot the bill for having a decent place to use as a base to explore Belize. The rooms were clean, and the grounds were in great shape, but it still felt like a beach hotel as opposed to a resort hotel. Its a little on the expensive side for food and drink, but that's typical of any American hotel in a Caribbean country.

The service and food were good, perhaps a little over priced. Service from the food and other staff was pleasantly friendly and efficient. The Site and even the room service guide discusses wired Internet capability which is no longer available. The WiFi access was useless. A password was provided, implying secure access. I found no way to use it. One of the active WiFi channels was labeled BW-secure. When asked why the password did not work there we were told the PW only applied to the BW public site, there was no way to use the PW with the site. The system was of such low capacity it was useless most of the time, taking serveral minutes to respond to simple logons. Because the policy concerning Internet access seems to be take what we offer, it should be all you need. We will not be staying there again.

"Omg am I in a hotel or a night club? "

I cannot believe the noise in this place! I'm wide awake, laying in bed, listening to blasting ridiculous music from somewhere out front if this hotel!!! I'm absolutely beat and there's no way I'm gonna sleep tonight! I guess Friday night is the party night, I wish I was someplace else! We're here again tomorrow night with an early flight on Sunday so I'm asking the front desk for a different room for tomorrow night or I'm outta here...! Ps the music they're playing sucks! I'm so mad!!!!!

"Overall Good"

Positives: Overall the food was excellent, the staff overall very helpful and friendly and the room was comfortable and clean. Negatives: Follow through is poor. Our safe wasn't working, the staff came and left "have to get a part" and never returned for our entire weeks stay. Asked for a refrigerator for our room (they were in the other team member's rooms) staff said of course, and never showed up. The overall management for a big group was really average. I feel that they are unable to manage large groups of people. Service for breakfast was so slow and poor. In the middle of our week, they figured out it was best to serve our group outside and placed the poor omelette lady in the open with two burners, rather than stuck by the kitchen door all the way in the back, in the dark and sweating??!! At the end of our stay another enormous group of 150 missionaries came and the service for breakfast plummeted....I think they are over reaching and their service and planning is unable to keep up. WIFI IN ROOMS ARE NON EXISTENT AND THE PASSWORDS CHANGE ALMOST DAILY???

We stayed at the Biltmore as part of a large student group. We arrived especially early on our check-in day and the staff went above and beyond to get our very tired group into rooms ASAP. The rooms are clean and big. The A/C worked great. The beds are incredibly comfortable! The grounds are very well maintained, and the pool was clean. The fitness center was impressive with everything you could want for a great workout. If I ever get back to Belize City- I would definitely stay here again.

Had bugs in the room, overpriced. Was not happy with the room at all. Killed upwards of 20 bugs in just the 12 hours in the room. Would not recommend at all. Stayed elsewhere another night for 1/3the cost and it was MUCH cleaner.

We stayed there the night before an early morning flight back to the US. Hotel was nice. The pool was relaxing and the giftshop has lots of necessities and souvenirs for sale. The Wi-Fi was a little spotty in the evening, but generally good. Our room had a microwave but no refrigerator.

I figure this is my 5th or 6th visit. I have stopped counting. Friendly staff, very clean rooms. Nice to see the gym has been upgraded. Only complaints were power went out a few times during trip. Mostly for a few minutes, one time for a few hours. I disagree that it is overpriced. It is quite fair as they are always improving the property. This trip they also turned some wasted space into a dining deck and cleared up space to walk to the ground level rooms. Only complaint was room was a bit moldy. A/C need to be cleaned to solve that. I wish my bed in Florida was as comfortable.

The accommodations were very clean and organized. The hotel was undergoing many improvements. Room amenities were very welcomed for the length of my stay. The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful, especially with my short notice bookings. The food was very good at the restaurant and there were a couple of other places to eat within a short walk/drive. I will be staying here again later in the year.

"Not great but not much choice"

Staff were friendly and helpful. Hotel wasn't cheap but there wasn't much choice near the airport. Food at the hotel was expensive and almost nowhere else in the area to eat. The pool area was nice but ridiculously crowded. My family of 4 barely had any room to sit. Room was basic and clean. Glad we only spent one night here.

the price of the room wasn't horrible, however the price of the food was. the service was good. people were nice. especially at the front desk. the air conditioning didn't work in my room which lead to a lack of sleep, but I was only there for one night, so I powered through it. I just wasn't impressed. it wouldn't have been so bad if the food was cheaper and the air worked in my room. next time we are in belize we wont be staying there.

We stayed here at the end of an Island Expeditions trip to Lighthouse Reef. The room was really nice, lots of space, the air conditioning worked. The pool bar is a great place to relax -- we didn't feel like going into the city to a restaurant, so ordered pizza and nachos at the bar, and they were great. (One of us was a vegetarian, and vegetarian pizza wasn't on the menu, but they were happy to make it, and it was really good.) The restaurant was nice for breakfast. Didn't try the TV or Internet -- I was on vacation! The staff were friendly and helpful.

Loved this hotel for various reasons - pool, poolside service, restaurant, service at desk and in restaurant. The only issue we experienced that was negative was internet didn't work in our room, so we had to go outside to use internet if needed.

The room was very clean and it had working air conditioning. The pool was very inviting. The staff was great. I needed to send a post card. They were out of stamps. I paid for a stamp, took my card and sent it when they got the sample. They helped my husband with phone calls back to the USA. If we had a questions, they had a helpful answer. I also liked the location. Within 5 minutes you can walk to a local variety store (food, appliances, clothes) with an ATM that had no fee.

My wife and I stayed here a week while exploring the countryside, pyramids and rivers. We had a great time, till I pulled an ill-advised stunt. I stashed my drivers license, a credit card and my AAA card in the room, then forgot about it. Upon our return to San Diego I noticed I'd misplaced them. 3 days later it hit me, and I remembered where I stashed them. I contacted Maria Bonilla at the hotel and she tasked a cleaning lady to check my hiding spot, and voila, there they were. Maria sent them to me via express mail. I didn't need to cancel my card nor get a new drivers license. Maria was awesome, I'm in her debt. Thank you Maria.

"A Hot Mess!"

This place is a hot mess! The lobby and restaurant areas smelled like a sewer. The rooms had another type of unpleasant odor. The bed linens were questionable and I was afraid to sit in the chair because it looked dirty. The door frame into the room was cracked and didn't close very well. Customer service was delightful. No matter what problem we were having, they responded with a smile and an apology. We did not eat on the property but it is a 15 minute walk to the Celebrity which is an excellent place to eat. TV cable did not work. Internet did not work. Breakfast was bulk food and concentrated juices. Airport transport is not free. Taxi is available for the same price. This hotel is very overpriced. I would recommend the Best Western which does not have a water view but you won't miss it.

"Severely lacking in food and beverage service"

If you want any food services do not expect it at the Biltmore. The staff seemed confused on how to serve a timely order, kitchen staff need a lesson in how to turn out good and quick food. The servers are untrained and have no process to manage simple orders. Orders sit on the counter, and take far to long coming out of the kitchen. Mr Ted the Manager of the property seems oblivious to how to accept guest feedback and use it to improve. They have received many complaints by your companies and guests, maybe some one should show him how to use TA. Best place to find a meal is NOT the Biltmore. Do not waste time waiting for slow service and poor quality. Thanks

"Can I get some sleep"

We showed up at the hotel for one night to catch our early (430 am wake up) flight out of Belize City. The front desk service was very polite, but gave us a room that was already occupied, but the manager made up for that by upgrading our room to a king bed. Service around the pool was a joke, asked two different people for pool towels before just getting towels from our room, when ordering a simple drink the bar tender acted like she never heard of a rum and coke. To make our stay more memorable, the court yard of this hotel apparently doubles as a night club on Friday nights, complete with DJ, loud music, and even louder patrons, especially at 11pm. I have sent an email to Best Western to inquire about some sort of refund since we paided $125 US for a bad night sleep. Room and hotel were clean, comfortable, and secure. But service and noise level and location were very poor. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone on a weekend, but would be ok during the week.

Needed a place outside of the city and this fit our location requirements nicely. Staff is very friendly. Hotel itself is very outdated, but it appears they are doing renovations to the rooms. Ours was freshly painted, though bathroom still needed work. Overall okay for a quick one night stay.

"Stinky Room"

First, I will say that our room smelled like sewage the entire stay. We were in room 140 so avoid this room at all cost. We requested a room change but were told that they had no more rooms. A housekeeper came by and sprayed some Lysol but that was it. Maybe due to our bathroom window being by the dumpster? Very weak water pressure. The hotel is also under construction with the addition of an outdoor pavilion area. It would have been nice to get a heads up before hearing the hammer every morning. Otherwise, great pool area with very comfortable beds. Great Wi-fi service & TV. I could stream Netflix on i Pad by pool. Not a bad place to stay. Maybe we just got a bad apple.

"Not great, but not bad either..."

As a local, I find Biltmore to be too pricey. Though I've never had the opportunity to actually stay there, I have attended quite a number of seminars, weddings parties and other social functions there. Based on my experience, I gathered that it is a really good place for those kinds of things. I've also gotten the chance to taste a varity of their cuisines and from the ones I've tasted I have to admit that the taste fluctuates; sometimes very delicious, sometimes just okay and sometimes outright terrible. Nevertheless I find the pool area and bar quite enjoyable. The pool area is very beautiful which makes it easy to relax and bask in the ambiance. While at the bar they play a variety of music and have some rich cocktails and drinks for you to sip and enjoy. My favorite is the Piña Colada. All in all, I wouldn't say that the place is exceptional but I would be lying if I said it was horrible. My best advice would be to come and try it for yourself. Oh, and whenever you go to the restaurant ask for Anthony Sanchez the waiter. After a short time with him you'll forget you ever had an issue with the Biltmore.

Although all the staff we encountered were friendly and professional, Anthony our waiter stood out. He was friendly and thorough and a pleasure to talk to. The food was excellent with a lot to choose from for the Breakfast buffet. If I'm lucky enough to return to Belize again I would no doubt stay at the Belize Biltmore Plaza.

At check in of 30 people from a bus that they knew was coming - one person to check in everyone. After a 15 minutes more help arrived. When we got to our room it was occupied. We were given another room but an hour later some came to move into our room so evidently they were still having trouble figuring out which rooms were occupied. No internet anywhere in hotel and TV was to fuzzy to watch, staff said had been out for most of the day. Went to the restaurant for a snack which took 1 hour and was awful. The next morning our bus load of people had to leave at 5:30am so the hotel said they would make us sandwiches. Boy were we unpleasantly surprised to find a couple cold chicken wings, noodle salad, banana and mystery bread. No utensil for eating this awful "breakfast". The redeeming item was a comfortable bed.

Very handy on the Northern Hwy since we had business to do close by (trip to Benny's; Brodies; and Martinez A/C). Also close to Budget for return of rental car who provided free transport to the San Pedro Water Taxi terminal. Ground floor room near swimming pool was clean and upscale..great King bed with good A/C, Fridge & Microwave. A breakfast Buffet was available @ $30bz, however ordering off the menu was cheaper and quite good other than an inattentive staff (forgot my orange juice). Public computers were available in the business center which enabled me to catch up on Emails after a week on the road. Definitely would stay again.

The options in Belize City are limited. This is situated away from the city center but had a nice pool and lounge area, although I didn't really have a chance to enjoy that. I had a room close to the Pool area with virtually no wifi service. I had to go outside closer to the pool just to get emails. There was no way I could have done any work on the wifi with my current room. Basic room looked older but had been slightly renovated.

We stayed twice. The first time everything was perfect. Great pool, delicious food, good wifi. But the second time they gave us a room in second floor and there the wifi didn't work that good. But i would recommend this hotel.

This hotel is 'nice' regarding facilities e.g. good basic rooms, great pool and lounge area. Staff could have been a bit friendlier at the pool area however basically okay. The biggest concern comes with the overpriced resturant and the fact that a shuttle serive to the airport is fact a taxi service that is ridiculously prices. We paid $55 US for a 5 min. ride to the airport (an additional cost for passingers over limite of 2). Very dissappointing given I booked with this hotle due to their proximity to the airport and that a shuttle (assumed to be reasonably priced) was to be avaiable.

I don't know what to expect in Belize City, but this was good enough! We stayed 2 nights, one night on either side of an Island Expeditions trip. Both rooms were dark and musty, but that's likely a factor of the tropical location. The rooms are very basic, but we were happy to have air conditioning and plenty of TV options, as both nights were travel recovery visits! The food was decent; I thought expensive - but again, I have nothing to compare it to. The service at the restaurant was great. There is not much to walk to from this hotel, but if you're just looking for a basic place to stay while hooking into excursions, it's fine and not a $25USD cab ride to/from the airport.

Our check in process was very smooth even though they were fully booked. Our room #130 did not have a refrigerator and it took us a while to discover the air conditioner was mounted over the wall leading to the sink and bathroom. Once we turned it on, it quickly cooled the room and we had a comfortable night's sleep. The complimentary breakfast was very good. The water in the rooms is not to be drunk, but they did provide two complimentary bottles of water. The hotel location is close to the International airport. It supposedly costs about $25 US via taxi so a rental car may be more adviseable.

After a week in the jungle, it was nice to find all the amenities, a bar, air conditioning, hot showers, free soap and shampoo, free internet, porters for our bags, but the restaurant is disappointing with blah food and slow service. Nonetheless, the lady at Reception was truly astounding in her efforts to reach the airlines to confirm our reservations, and the souvenir shop was nicely stocked with typical local crafts. But beware of the bugs: mosquitoes in the dining room and around the pool. We came home with dozens of pustulent bites from a one-night stay.

Clean, friendly, beautiful. We have never been to Belize and the reviews for accommodations in Belize City led us to believe that it wouldn't be very nice. We were pleasantly surprised by this beautiful hotel!

I would not stay here again. This hotel was nasty. My tub was disgusting my bed had a lot of dust on the back board. There were a lot of dead mosquitos by the lamp near the bed. My room was full of mosquitos. I was at the jungles for 4 day and didn't even get bit by any mosquitos. I get to the hotel room and got bit 8 times in 1 day. The only reason why I'm giving this a 3 star is because I complained about the music being to loud by the pool area and they turned it down for me. Reason being is that I had to catch a early flight home (6:00 a.m)

We booked this hotel for our last night in Belize, so we could easily catch our flight the next day. We arrived at 11:00 am and were told that we should be able to get our room in a few hours, even though check in time is 3:00pm. This never happened. Eventually, after some intense conversations with the guy at the front desk, we got our room at 3:00. They should not have promised what they couldn't deliver - this was extremely frustrating. The room was large, with two double beds, flat screen tv. Very much what you would get in the States. The central courtyard was great with a very nice pool, a bar, lots of different areas to sit or lie in. Nice giftshop. Computers available in the lobby, and okay wifi. The restaurant seemed expensive - we ate at the good Lebanese restaurant across the street. There is a supermarket a 5 - 10 minute walk away, which has pretty much anything, and very cheap take-out. We were there on a Saturday, and there was a big dance party sponsored by a beer company in the courtyard. The music stopped at 10:00pm. Airport transport: We took a cab from the bus terminal in Belize City to the hotel for $10 USD. The driver said that a trip to the actual airport was always (from anywhere, including the hotel) $25 USD. He said he would give us a $5 USD discount, so we arranged for him to take us from the hotel to the airport the next day, so we got ir for $20 USD.

I just returned from another week long stay at the Biltmore. We were a large group (15 people) and were volunteering nearby. We were pleasantly surprised by the nice upgrades made to the rooms since our stay last year and the wifi was slightly better as well. Check-in was quick and most of our rooms were ready though it was before noon. The package deal the hotel offered for large groups cannot be beat, with a hot/cold breakfast and dinner included in our rate! Hot showers and comfy beds...What more can we ask for? Everyone we encountered was super friendly and went out of their way to make sure we were happy. We will certainly be back next year! Thank you, from the LIU group

We recently stayed here for several nights before and after a trip out to Glover's Reef. It's conveniently located. We found the rooms to be comfortable and the atmosphere to be relaxing. The pool and garden area is really nice. We loved the staff. They were friendly and helpful; especially in the restaurant and pool bar. The breakfast buffet provided quite a variety of good food at a reasonable price. We also worked with the lovely woman in the gift shop to book a tour to Laminae. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to our friends.

This is a motel style place, with small, dark rooms on two levels gathered around a pleasant swimming pool and central courtyard. The reception staff were friendly, but the waiting staff varied between glum and positively unhelpful. No one helps you with your bags. The restaurant is dismal, a canteen style layout, brightly lit, with no atmosphere at all and strangely disengaged staff. Although there is supposed to be a bar, it doesn't operate and you must take drinks at the pool, which can be hot and is besieged by insects after dusk. Indeed, the resort is awash with insects, in the dismal restaurant and in the bedrooms. Cleanliness is just about acceptable, but the shower is hopeless, a weak stream of intermittently hot and cold water. Wifi is hopeless. On the positive side, the bed is large and comfortable, we had the best and freshest fish of our five week, six country trip when we took a fish and chips lunch by the pool, and the hotel provides a shuttle bus to anywhere in town that you want to go, and back, at your convenience, for a set fee of $7.50 each way for two people. We went to a great Indian restaurant ten minutes drive away. The hotel is out of town on the way to the airport, and this is its biggest selling point. But we noted that the air crews all stayed at the Raddison in town, and this is certainly what we would do next time, as Belize city is not congested, rather than stay in this depressing throwback to 1970s soviet standards of service.

Was lucky enough to stay there during a workshop. Would I stay there again? Sure! Once it is covered by the company sure! I could never afford it myself but, what a place! The rooms are beautiful, beds are perhaps the most comfortable I have ever slept on, and any place that has coffee in the room gets a thumbs up from me. The buffet lunches were delicious, staff very friendly and helpful. Having a pool, always having someone at the front desk and being open at all hours also helps. So yea, if you can afford it and want a bit of luxury, stop on by.

Our group stayed at the Best Western Biltmore while on a Rotary project in Belize City. We were charmed by the friendly staff, and the lovely centre court and pool areas. The rooms were clean and spacious, and while there were a few issues with water pressure and electricity (during an electrical storm), there was clearly a concerted attempt by the team there to make us feel comfortable, and welcome. I suggest extending the hours of the poolside bar, as this is a great draw for visitors from cooler climates. Also suggest that more tables be added to the courtyard area, as this always seemed to be popular place to be. Thanks for a great stay!!

We stayed at B&B near the Best Western and our host suggested dinner at the best western. It was superb. Fresh grilled shrimp served with delicious mashed potatoes and crispy steamed veggies. We were so surprised and delight. It's the best freshest meal we've had so far in Belize.

We were only here for one night before heading home.The staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was clean and updated. The pool area was very nice and we had a couple of really good meals in the restaurant. Good experience, would recommend and stay there again.

Stayed here last April. My room was clean and comfortable. I enjoyed the garden bar and restaurant. Location not the best for most travelers unless you have a car, it's on the outskirts of BC, not near any tourist services. It was convenient for me but I was traveling north with a group and got picked up at the hotel.

Our family stayed one night at Best Western before travelling to San Pedro. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is very good for Caribbean standards. The pool area is great as is the outside bar. Check out is 1 pm which allowed us to take a morning tour of Mayan ruins at Altun Ha. Rooms were very clean and somewhat dated but it is a reasonable priced hotel.

I've stayed at this hotel twice, thinking giving it a second chance would be a good idea. I was very wrong. The first visit was obnoxiously loud, slow food service, and a very dark room. The toilet did not work at all and someone came to fix it without actually fixing it. We got rashes after swimming in the pool. The hotel is a way out of the city but has a nice souvenir shop and is close to the hotel. The second visit was quieter, but the room was disgusting. It reeked of mold and was super dark. We got offered another room and when the door was opened we found out someone else was actually staying in that room. The guy helping us kept disappearing to help other guests, leaving us waiting outside with no room. In the end we got an upgraded room which also reeked of mold. The wifi did not work at all in this room and we were directed to the lobby computers to check into our flights. One of those computers did not work either. None of the rooms we were offered had functioning toilets.

First off, I want to say that physically this is a reasonably nice hotel. It's well maintained, definitely a bright spot in that particular part of Belize City (mainly industrial/commercial and the other hotels down the road look downright scary). If it only had reasonably average service then it would easily get 3 out of 5 stars from me. It's the unacceptably bad service and practices of the hotel that lose it for them. More on that later. I also want to say the rooms are nice, really good air conditioning. Common areas are nice. Nice pool area with lot's of vegetation. Lot's of geckos to keep the insects to a minimum (I didn't see any insects in my room, nor geckos threatening to enter). WiFi is a bit inconsistent in the rooms, but useable, while being great in the courtyard/pool area. Okay now we get to the service. There's a general attitude of "I don't want to help you, but okay if I must" throughout most of their bar/wait staff (one sole exception: Kimberly). There are also several practices that I find unacceptable/weird. When we got to the hotel on the first evening, a Friday, rooms were ready but ours didn't have anything but hand towels. Had to go down to the lobby to get towels because the phone in the room is just a regular phone without any instructions as to what to dial to get the front desk. My group we congregated at the pool bar, which was a reasonably happening place as I usually find at tropical resorts. They were serving margaritas half off or something, but I stuck to mostly drinking Belikins (more on that later). One oddity was that the pool bar was unusually under-stooled. We're talking a bar that's at least 20 feet long, plus 5 small round bar tables and the entire place had only 12 stools. Several times people ventured in, saw that all stools were occupied, and then kept going. We ordered drinks, then also decided to get dinner/appetizers there too. The food was good... when it finally arrived. First round of appetizers took at least an hour. The bartender said that they were super busy in the restaurant (it didn't look full), but we didn't mind too much, as there were plenty of Belikins and warm weather (we just flew in from Canada). A late comer to our group ordered his food around the time we were finishing our meals. We still planned to spend all night there, until they closed down, so no worries. More than an hour passed and our friend still hadn't gotten his food. We ask the bartender about it and she goes in and checks. Comes back and says "they forgot". Eventually though our buddy got his food and again it was pretty good. Eventually we call it a night. The next day (a Saturday) we get in to the hotel, after a day of excursions, around 6ish and I go up to the pool bar and order a drink and the bartender is there cleaning up and tells me "we're closed." I couldn't believe this "what do you mean closed?" "We close five-tirty." "But yesterday..." "Only Friday we're open late. You can order drinks inside" This is the first strike against the hotel. It's absolutely UNACCEPTABLE that a pool bar closes before 11PM. This is the place where people want to be in the evening, where they want to order their drinks. They don't want to go into your dank little "Biltmore Lounge" for their drinks. It's nicer outside. Anyway, that evening I went into the Biltmore lounge, ordered me a Belikin draft and took it outside. Refilled my mug countless times. Our group we ended up ordering some delicious Pepper's Pizza and had it delivered out at the pool bar, which was at least lit, with the TV on, so we were content. The next night the unthinkable happened. Another UNACCEPTABLE: the hotel ran out of Belikin beer, both in bottles and on draft. For draft they were still offering Lighthouse, however apparently taking the glassware out of the Biltmore Lounge is a no-no and it was only served in small (roughly 250mL) plastic cups instead of the 330mL mugs I became accustomed to the night before (at the same price of 5BZ). Luckily we'd bought a few 6-packs at Brodie's earlier, so we just drank that and hung around the pool bar area and they didn't seem to mind. Another afternoon I was at the pool bar (before 5:30 closing) and asked for a Belikin and they told me that the only ones they had were still warm and offered me a Lighthouse (Lighthouse seems to be watered down Belikin). Again, UNACCEPTABLE. Now let me tell you about the restaurant service: it's also fairly inconsistent. Mornings there was one waitress (Kimberly) who was on the ball and actually did a reasonably good job. The others were pretty much useless. It'd be stupid little things like being served pancakes without syrup and you ask "can I get some syrup?" and the response is "syrup... okay..." and you'd be waiting 5 minutes while your pancakes get cold for her to bring out syrup. Another time we ordered dinner and it was served without cutlery. "Can I get some cutlery?" "Oh, cutlery, yes." 5 minutes pass... I go into the restaurant (we were eating just outside) and have to pick it up myself because I didn't want my food to get colder. One morning a person in our group literally asked for a re-fill on his coffee 4 times until the server finally came with the cannister (she had been back to the table numerous times for other things, just never had the coffee). Again, UNACCEPTABLE. All in all I don't want to scare anyone away from booking at this hotel. When it comes to Belize City there's really just the nice hotels on the water front and then there's this one. Anything else is sub-sub-one star. I think the nightly rate for this hotel is kind of outrageous, given its inadequacies and given it's a Best Western, but the rates seem in line with the rest of Belize, as the nicer hotels on the water front are a lot more expensive. I do hope that someone in the management of the hotel takes note and puts their staff through some kind of intensive training program, as well as realizing the missed potential of a properly operated pool bar. The hotel has a lot of potential if only they can get their service up to snuff.

My husband and I stayed here one night, passing through Belize city, on our way out to a southern caye. The staff was very friendly and helpful. There is no shuttle offered, but you can take a taxi from the airport for about $25. The room was quite comfy and clean. The grounds were much nicer then I expected of a Best Western, and nicely showcased the beautiful greenery of Belize. The pool was very nice, but not heated from what I could tell. We ate dinner in town ( about a $7 cab ride) at a delicious local restaurant on the water called Birds Isle... It was fantastic!!! Great hotel for your money!!

This hotel is in a perfect location when flying in and out of Belize City. They have a beautiful set-up with a nice pool and very clean rooms. I stayed here with a group of students for a night at the beginning of our trip and one at the end of the trip.

This hotel is located just outside the city limits and 7 miles from the airport. It was clean and comfortable but for whatever we paid $153 U.S. it could have been better. Pool closes at 8:00pm. Dining room was good but limited in selection.

This hotel is great for a night or two in Belize City. It has a very nice pool and lounge area with outside bar. Ate one meal (lunch) from the poolside menu, which was shrimp ceviche and chicken fajitas. Both were fine. Our room was clean and a nice air conditioned retreat from the hot Belizean sun. Staff were generally friendly and responsive. The only downside to our stay was that the wifi was flaky. At times it was pretty good and at others was frustratingly slow. Very inconsistent.

We should have realized when the front desk clerk seemed surprised that we were staying multiple nights. Overall the experience wasn't terrible, it just wasn't what we expected based on other reviews and their website. The bed was comfortable and the room was pretty clean, but after the first night we had to ask for our room to be cleaned- not once, but every day. The pool is much smaller than it looks in pictures, but it was clean and there were plenty of chairs to hang out- there is a bar right by the pool and another bar beside the restaurant that was ok. Its seems more like a local hang-out- they really love Karaoke. Where they really lack is in customer service. We had a great experience with the bar tender in the Victoria Bar, but everyone else we encountered were not pleasant. The outside bartenders were not friendly and tried to over charge us. The restaurant staff was horrible (the food wasn't great either, but hey- its a Best Western.) They have a cab driver who is always in the lobby- his name is Jorge. He was very nice and took us pretty much anywhere we wanted to go- including the zoo, which was much cheaper than paying a tour company to take you out there. Honestly, had we stayed for just one night on our way to another destination, this place would have been fine.

Stayed here the first night in Belize before flying to the next destination and again on the last night before flying back to the US. The first stay the room was pretty much bug free. The second stay the room had Gecko poo in the bathroom, which was likely because the screen on the window didn't fit, and anything could have gone through it. I watched as a cockroach run under the main door through the half inch gap into the room - which fortunately I was able to smash with a shoe. The waitress the first stay was pleasant and happy, the food was fine, nothing special. The last night we stayed the waitress couldn't be bothered to get us water or answer any questions about the menu. The food was equally bland and the next morning the same waitress was just as bad as she was the night before except she took our credit card and never came back again. Breakfast items in the hotel restaurant is not bad, but dinner is mainly bad American food. There is a restaurant across the street that serves dinner. I didn't t find out about it until after we ate dinner, but I would try that option first.

"When in Belize City"

When in Belize City, there are really only two places to stay. From a convenience factor, The Best Western Biltmore Plaza is the place to stay. The rooms are clean. Staff is friendly. Food is quality. The daily bottled water is a nice touch. The pool is nice and nothing beats a hard day of work and coming back to the pool and relaxing with a drink. Very good gym for a Hotel too. The Biltmore is an Oasis in Belize City. I have stayed 4 times and am planning trip number 5 in 3 weeks. Only negative is the wifi strength

"Clean, Quiet, Comfy and Friendly"

When one chooses to visit Central America one may have a preconceived notion of what to expect. It might be that your expectations are high. You may be envisioning the Shangri La Hotel or the Ritz Carlton. On the other hand you may be thinking La Quinta or Red roof. So when visiting this location understand a few things. First, it is on the highway that leads from the airport to the City. Second, there is nothing around to walk to...I mean walk to easily. Third, it is gated....as most things are in the city. Finally, be aware that while it is everything i said in my title, it is not the Shangri La. BUT, it is not the Red roof. You will likely meet Yvette when you check in. She is very friendly and helpful. You will notice it is clean. Your check in will be quick. Take a main floor room....there is no elevator. The rooms are clean and the beds are cozy. The shower may or may not have hot water. There are no bath tubs. The bar is by the pool, with lots of seating around. All good. The restaurant service is great. The food is average but acceptable. This is a great pace to sleep over one or two nights on the way to somewhere else. It is likely the best place to stay in Belize City....which is about a 15 min cab ride away. Pricing varies so check Expedia regularly.

I've stayed at the Biltmore on several occasions as I worked in Belize during the winter from 2006 to 2012 and always enjoyed my time there. This year I had the pleasure of returning to Belize on vacation and had a very relaxing evening in January before continueing to San Pedro. The staff are always warm, friendly & professional, especially Miss Maria & Miss Yvette. I've eaten at the Restaurant many times and the food is always good, I especially enjoy the breakfast buffet. There is a nice pool area with a bar, plus an inside bar as well for relaxing with a cold beer or cocktail. I've heard some people had issues with wifi & hot water but I've never had issues with either during any of my visits. If I have ever had any small issues I've always talked to the front desk staff who have always been very helpful and made sure the problem was fixed. The hotel is not too far from the airport & is outside the main part of Belize City so it is safe & convenient. Great place to stay!

I was very pleased with my stay at this hotel. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. The shrimp dinner I had my first night was outstanding and very reasonably priced. I appreciated the complimentary tea and coffee in the room.

"No Internet and No Hot Water"

The title says it all. I stayed here for two days while in Belize on business. I expect three things at least from my hotel - reasonable bed (OK there), in room Internet (no useable signal in the room, marginally better if you sit in the lobby) and hot water (cold the first morning and just a little warmer the following day and cold by the end of my shower). On top of that club music kept me awake until 1:30 the second evening. Even the printer didn't work when I checked out and a final bill had to be produced from somewhere else. The staff was sympathetic, but made no concessions. The Radisson Fort George on the sea is a bit more expensive, but a far better choice and definitely worth the additional cost. As a Best Western Gold Elite member I would have expected better. But if you do stay here, do yourself a favour and forget about the hotel restaurant and go right across the road to the Sahara Grill. Great Lebanese food and one of the best restaurants in Belize; quite reasonable too, although not fancy at all.

We spent 5 days here, rooms very clean and staff very friendly special shout out to Angel and Dayan. Not thrilled with restaurant, but had Great Pizza...Shuttle drivers very accommodating would drop off and come back and pick you up. Took water taxi to Caye Caulker and best of all the Lamanai River ride to Mayan Temples....Cynthia

"Good place to stay in Belize City"

We stayed here in Feb 2016 enroute to and coming back from an Island Expeditions trip to Lighthouse Caye. Friendly staff, clean spacious rooms, nice courtyard pool/bar area for hanging out, half decent restaurant, on-site shuttle service, and reasonably priced...what's not to like?

"Noisy with Indifferent Staff"

We spent one night at the hotel. Cost was extremely high for the less than average room ($180.00 American Dollars.). The room was really OK but there was noise throughout the night. Walls were not well insulated. Our dinner at the hotel was passable but not good. Again, price seemed very high for the quality of food. Finally, the staff throughout the hotel seemed as though they were being disturbed whenever we required service including check in and out. I do not recommend this hotel.

We were in Belize for a week and this is the WORST food we had. We traveled most of the day, when we got to the hotel, which was recommended by our resort, we were starving. None of us could eat it. It was like an old TV dinner that had been reheated several times during the day. Money wasted. The service was horrible and the food was worse. I do not recommend this. The hotel itself was ok, clean, the bar closed early. I'll be back to Belize soon but will steer far away from this place

Room was on the balcony right next to men's and women's rest rooms and the doors banged all night long not to mention it was a gathering place for men and women from the Friday and Saturday night parties held in the Courtyard with loud music until the wee hours. Oh , and people trying to open our room door by mistake thinking it was the rest room I can only guess. Made complaint and can only hope it prevents others from the same problems.

Only had one night passing through on business. Pool area, pool bar, lounge and restaurant all provided excellent service and good menu, above average food. Very friendly staff. Beds/linens were good - room and bathroom very clean and well appointed, more than what we usually experience in Belize. A/C and fan, both quiet and efficient! Did not expect to be so pleased. Only negative was two attempts in dining room to get us to do an online review right there at the table - good marketing ploy, but a little annoying to be asked not just once, but twice to do while trying to decompress.

The front desk service was somewhat lacking. The room and bedding was damp. The room smelled of mold and mildew, as well as another smell we couldn't identify. The bathroom was about 10 years best its need for a remodel. The restaurant meals were good.

The appearance and condition of the hotel was clean and well maintained. The restaurant staff was attentive and friendly. Reception service was so-so. I had booked my trip through CheapTickets and had arrived a day late due to missing my connection flight. I arrived at the hotel tired and worn out. The manager at the time was handling my reservation and handed me paperwork to fill out. The last line of the reservation agreement read the following: "I will not entertain people in the room" (the verbage may not be specifically to that, but it caused me to be confused.) Now I had a Belizean friend drop me off and there was a section on the hotel paperwork regarding car information. I was going to place my friend's car info down (in case the car was towed), but the manager had said curtly and rudely, "The room is ONLY FOR (1) PERSON OCCUPANCY." O-KKK....I thought to myself. I stayed in room 103 which happened to be in front of the courtyard where there was a 60th wedding anniversary/80th birthday reception on a Friday night. The music was very loud. I was forced to stay up until 11 PM. Party was scheduled from 7 to 11. I highly recommend second floor towards the back of the hotel if you want peace and quiet during your stay. Hotel housekeeping was immaculate and clean. However, I bought some snack food from the market the day before I was to leave Belize. I had placed the tomato on the table close to the room door. At 3 AM, I heard this rustling and a "fffff...fffff...ffff." I turned and saw the silhouette of a mouse on my NIGHTSTAND next to MY BED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Unbelievable!!!! AAAAAAAAAHHHH! The mouse had jumped down and ran in some direction while I was scrambling to turn on the light. After surveying the room, I immediately placed my snacks in the refrigerator and had planned to throw them in the garbage in the morning. My tomato had managed to roll approximately 15 feet over to the sink/vanity counter top where it laid underneath. I looked closely and saw the small nibble marks. After further investigation, I noticed that there was an opening underneath the counter top, where I believe the mouse habited. The hotel should have either enclosed the whole counter or left it the sink pipes open and exposed. When I left the hotel, I did write my review of the hotel on their comment card and hopefully this matter has been attended to immediately.

My husband and I stayed here the night before our departure from Belize. Room was large and clean, and the bed was super comfy! While certainly not a five star resort, there's a nice pool, outdoor bar, and decent restaurant for a quick bite. A great place to crash on your way in or out of this beautiful country!

We stayed at this hotel at the beginning and end of a recent trip to Belize. Safe, quiet and comfortable. Very nice and helpful staff. Away from downtown Belize city. Nice pool area in the central cortyard, decent restaurant and convenient shop sells wide range of snacks and gifts. VERY wide range of TV channels. I would definitely stay here again.

"Not a good sleep"

Ask the hotel if there are any weddings or events taking place on the nights you stay there as the venue happens on the second floor very close to all the sleeping rooms on the first and second floor. The noisy music pumped out until 1:00 am. It sounded like a bar was right outside my room. I wrote a complaint and no one contacted me afterwards. The Radisson is the place to go instead. Radisson is definitely classy. The Biltmore is not built properly because the rental hall for weddings is in the same area as the rooms. It couldn't really believe what was happening at a hotel like the Best Western. we asked for pool towels and never received them. We asked for a cot because the room with the 2 double beds was not available. We never received the cot. We had 2 small children with us so they slept together on the pull out couch. There was no follow up with my complaint so take heed now and don't stay there. We have travelled quite a bit and been to many hotels. This was the worst service and I still cannot believe the noise of the music that one night.

Stayed here Christmas night at the start of my itinerary. The room I had on the second floor needs renovation, especially the bathroom. Sheets and pillows smelled musty. Two bottles of complimentary water are provided in the room. A sign over the sink says not to brush teeth with faucet water.

For what you pay to stay in this hotel none of the comforts from a north american best western were present. I will never use this hotel when coming back to Belize. Restaurant is terrible, and if your expecting a clean bathroom or shower your out of luck.

Hotel stay was good. Rooms were clean and service was OK. A lot of the Reviews here pan the restaurant and when we were there we noticed a variety of disappointed customers with their food (they had ordered burgers pasta etc). With that in mind, we just ordered local fare, Rice and Beans, which was delicious and extremely tasty. Play it safe and order Belizean food.

My family and I found the hotel to be clean and the staff friendly. I also wanted to give a sincere thank you to Jorge the hotel driver. He was very friendly and very accommodating taking my family to the dock to catch a water taxi. He was there on time to take us back to hotel. Thank you!

Stayed at the BW Biltmore at the beginning and end of our recent trip to Belize. Good value for the money. We found it to be in a safe area with clean rooms and most importantly good hot water in the shower...a must after being out in the bush! Service is on par with other tourist related business' in Belize, a little slow, but friendly. Marcela at the front desk was very helpful! Only negatives I have are the restaurant...food is average to poor especially for the prices and the wifi was very slow.

"New Years Morning and NO MORNING COFFEE?"

service is lousy in restaurant,, especially for the over priced food. 3 people wanted coffee. 1 got a full cup, 1 got a half a cup and 1 got none. No refills, No Coffee in lobby. Attitude of our server was so awful. I understand that she may have been working New Years Eve. We did not celebrate the night before, but we do enjoy our coffee with breakfast. Internet? If you were lucky.

"Belize City Hotel"

This is a nice hotel, with a good pool and decent exercise room and restaurant. It is close to the airport, a few miles out of town. The facility is great and very accessible to points north and west. Service is mediocre, but pretty good for Belize standards.

"Stop over stay worthwhile"

We needed a place to stay over one night in Belize City for a airplane layover/connection. It was perfect and reasonable, under $100, clean and safe. The pool and restaurant were capable although small but nice. It is the tropics so they were out of some items at the bar/restaurant which didn't bother us but did bother other guests. We had the local chicken dish for dinner Recardo chicken and the local beer Belikan. And got a good nights sleep. The biggest surprise was the flat rate taxi ride at $25 per two people going and coming that added $50 to our budget for the stay. I don't think there was an elevator but again we are seasoned tropical travelers and that isn't a big deal to haul bags up a flight of stairs. Overall perfect for a stop over passing thru.

"Very good stay"

We stayed here overnight on an airline voucher after missing our connection. It was a disappointment to miss our flight but the fine accommodations certainly didn't make us any unhappier! The rooms were very clean and had everything we needed. The beds were comfortable, and the appliances (TV, shower, etc) all worked well. The wi-fi worked great, and those of us who used the pool and fitness facilities enjoyed them. The restaurant was fairly good--I enjoyed my Belizian chicken, rice, and beans, though the rice was a little dry, and the calamari. Everyone else enjoyed their meals as well. The problem was that it was so darn slow! Don't stay at a Best Western if you are expecting a five-star resort--that's not what it's for.. But if you're looking for a clean, comfortable place with good amenities, then this is a great hotel for you.

"Skip the restaurant!!!"

We were ignored at the door for 5 minutes. Then seated at a filthy table. Then we got a couple pieces of silverware and some wadded up napkins tossed on the table. After 15 minutes, a server stopped by to annoyedly give us waters. 10 minutes later another server took our order. Another 10 minutes later she came back to see if she had it correct since she hadn't put it in yet. Add that up -- 40 minutes and our order was just being put in. And the food coming out did not look appetizing. So we gave up.

"Fine place to spend the night"

Smooth check-in and check-out. Affordable pricing. Taxis available at front with no wait. Room was acceptable with a decently comfortable bed and pillows and working air. Grounds are pretty and the pool was enjoyable. Didn't appear to be in a prime location, but for those arriving in Belize City and needing a place to stay, it did the job well and we would return. Caveat - there is a restaurant on site but reviewed this separately as it was terrible and not deserving of the same stars as the hotel itself.

"Christmas holiday"

We just spent the week of Christmas at the Biltmore Best Western in Belize. It was very nice, the food was great and the staff were more than gracious. It's located just outside Belize city and we felt very safe there. Used the local bus daily to travel to different destinations. Would definitely go there again.

"Over priced and needs modernising"

Stayed here for one night in Dec 2015. Wouldn't give us local rates despite my wife being born in Ladyville! This hotel needs modernising. The bathroom we had was terrible. Dirty old mat left in the bath, taps hanging off the walls....only ONE towel each! Drinks at the bar were very expensive! 3 star at best.

"Suitable hotel"

Me and my wife stayed at the Best Western one night before heading on to San Pedro. We wanted to do the zip lining and cave tubing before we went to the island. This plan and the hotel worked out nicely. We took a taxi from the airport to the hotel for 25$ U.S. Then Charlies Cave Tubing picked up up from the hotel in the morning and took us to the boat taxi after the tour. The Best Western stored our bags for us.

"Recent Visit"

We stayed two nights. Beds and rooms were very comfortable. VERY friendly people and accommodating. Restaurant dinner okay. Out of items we wanted. Breakfast buffet was okay though. Shuttle pickup from airport took a long time but shuttle to dinner downtown was great and they even were there to pick us up right away. Felt very safe there.

"Decent "

We stayed at this hotel the other day. Beds were comfortable and clean. Pool was lovely. Bathroom was a bit outdated. Be warned that this hotel does not have an airport shuttle and the taxis are quite expensive. Taxis are cheeper if you don't inquire at the hotel. I think they add extra for each taxi that they arrange for you. Resteraunt across the street is wonderful! Much cheeper and better than the hotel resteraunt.

"Decent hotel"

This is the only decent hotel in the area if you want to stay in Belize city without paying a fortune. Food is ok, customer service needs work and the rooms should be cleaned more thoroughly. Sheets had stains, no shower curtain, and toilet kept clogging up. If you don't plan to spend a lot of time in the room, I would recommend this hotel.

"Very nice place to stay but to far from anything."

The people were VERY friendly and did everything they could to please you. They do not offer shuttle service from the airport so you have to rent a taxi at $25us to & from the airport. Or rent a car at pretty high prices. Next you are told very close to the water (did not say BEACH) but again not close enough to walk to. They had a resturant that had pretty fair menu but only thing we found in a 8 day stay that we liked was one breakfast. Again any other resturants were taxi to & from for $25 to $35belize (or up) each way. The Belize dollar is $2 for each US $1 so they tell you everything at Belize price so if you pay with US dollar you feel you got a better deal but the cost to go eat or shop add up pretty fast. Room (after they moved us to the room we paid extra for) was large and very nice and the whole area was kept VERY clean. When it rained and the visitor made wet tracks across the floor there was always someone with a mop to clean the floor. Someone was always cleaning. Pool was nice and always clean. It was a very nice place but next time we will stay closer in town where we can walk to the shops & beach. We finally rented a car as it was cheaper than the taxi if you wanted to go more than one place in town. We also just crused to several towns just to see what they were like and we could not have afforded a taxi for this. Along the roads are many fruit stands and we fell in love with all the fresh fruit you could buy for next to nothing. One day we bought 4 oranges & 2 bananas for $.50us. The fruit really had a delicious flavor not what we are use to.

"Decent hotel"

We stayed one night at the Biltmore before catching a flight the next morning. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The food was pretty good and reasonably priced. The pool bar and the bar inside are really nice. Bring mosquito spray if you plan on spending time at the pool. The hotel seems to be trying to improve and is doing a good job.

Very good service and friendly staff!!!!..... poor food quality. Very comfortable rooms and nice pool area. Should leave open pool bar until 9 pm since they closed by six pm. Bring good mosquito repelant and poor wifi in the rooms.

"Clean, well kept property"

My family and I stayed at the Best Western for three nights. The grounds of the hotel and the building are all clean and well maintained. The food was tasty and reasonably priced. The service was excellent,“The manager and staff were always enquiring about our comfort and needs. Great advice was given to us and there was always a vehicle and driver, Jorge, available on site to take us to and bring us back to the hotel, in minutes. Excellent service. Keep up the great work, Ted, and continue to motivate your staff. I also want to commend the restaurant staff, especially the waitresses and Bladmir. Thank you all very much.”

A very pleasant hotel with helpful and friendly staff. A slightly limited menu but nevertheless quite acceptable. A good swimming pool and excellent Wi-Fi. Overall a good experience which I would happily repeat.

"Belize it or else"

Very little culture shock while at the BW in Belize City. Hotel had everything we needed as a jump off point to hit other spots in country. The food was great, they allowed us to leave our rental car in the parking lot while we spent two days at Ambergris caye.

"Loved it!"

I loved the place. The room was very, very large for a standard king room. It was nice, not luxurious but nice. The courtyard is very nice and serene. Of course the night was stayed was election night and for some unknown reason they decided to not open the bars up after 6pm, which is when you were allowed to sell liquor, after the polls closed. There were a lot of not so happy people, finding this out as they arrived and looked for a cold drink. I would stay here again, I felt safe here. I would not however eat at The Colonial Room for dinner again, breakfast yes, dinner no. I checked that this hotel has great views I mean out to the courtyard, not anywhere else.

"Great Accommodations for Short Stay in Belize"

While on our way to Caye Caulker we stayed in this very well maintained and managed Hotel. The hotel room was cleaned and prepared for non smokers. The price was right and offered a well priced full service breakfast. Transport to and from Airport is arranged for a fee as well as transport to ferry terminals. We rate the hotel A+ however downgrade it overall because the bar and bar food service was spoiled by the slow and inattentive bartenderess. Don't let this stop you from staying here. Golf Dude...Travelling Man PS Gift shop travel office on site sells ferry tickets and tours.

We wanted to experience one day in Belize City and chose this hotel. We chose poorly. We waited 30 minutes to check in and while we were in the process of checking in, two woman come up to the check in desk and yet served before us while we were still getting checked in, I felt as though I was invisible by both the rude women and the desk clerk. The room was a smoking room we are non-smokers it stank, the shower water never got warm, ant invasion, no WiFi connection,and to top it off, construction in the room above us with constant pound starting in the early AM. We went and got our room switched which had a better shower and fewer ants. The onsite restaurant was awful. Who serves French Onion soup without cheese?? They told me that is French Onion soup. I sent it back. This stay made us want to go back home sooner.

"Plane was 2 hours late, stuck in Belize city ~missed last water taxi to SanPedro"

A local couple on our delayed flight recommended Best Western as a good place if we missed the water taxi. Taxi charged us $25us from airport to rush us to water taxi from airport to meet last water taxi of the day, water taxi was leaving as we arrived. We were a bit distraught about getting stuck in Belize City, the other people from our flight went to a cheap hostel style place for $30us close to water taxi but water taxi employee recommended best western too so we decided to pay a bit more, it was $130 but definitely worth it. Nice place with good restaurant open till 10pm, grocery store a few blocks away. Taxi to hotel gouged us at $15us I think he knew how desperate we were to get out of the inner city after dark. Return taxi back to water taxi from hotel (arranged by hotel) was only $7.50 us. Room was nice and clean with small fridge, lots of nice wood finishes to the room, beautiful blue sparkling pool. Water pressure was a bit weak but tolerable. Very professional staff, good bed.

"Horrible Service, Rude Staff, Slow Internet, & Loud"

We took the 5AM Bus from San Ignacio to go into Belize City for a snorkeling trip. The boat we were scheduled to go on wouldn't start so we found someone else last minute who said it would be more money. We didn't have that much cash so we asked the hotel for options to get cash. Since we couldn't pull money out via ATM, they said after 10am, they would have someone there who could do a charge back on our credit card. We confirmed with two people there at the first desk in front of our tour guide that that would work. We came back from our tour, owing the guide money. We asked to check in and for the charge back. The person helping us said they don't do charge backs. We asked for a manager and the manager said they couldn't do it either. One of the people who said they could was there and she blamed the other gentlemen who was off work. The manager just walked away from us after we said the guide was owed money and we were counting on that money. The other front desk person started to laugh. The manager found us later and said "I called the person you talked to and he said he never said we could do a charge back" Myself, my fiance, and the tour guide all heard them say they could do it. Why would the tour guide take us if they said NO? Luckily my fiance found some cash in her bag. The most upsetting part is that two employees said they could do it in front of us and the tour guide, then lied about it in front of the manager. Another employee laughed at our situation, then there was no apology or attempt to correct the situation. We even told them we now didn't have enough cash to get to the airport. Instead of waiving the shuttle fee, they charged us more than a Taxi to get there, but it was our only option since we didn't have any cash left. The room was the best part of the hotel. It was decently cleaned, the water is not safe to drink, but they leave you two water bottles ($2 BLZ) to be purchased. The pool was nice. It was VERY loud and we were constantly woken up by people. We ordered food because we didn't have any cash left to take a taxi and there was no food within walking distance on a Sunday night. The pizza arrived cold and wasn't what we ordered. The Margarita was watery and plane tasting. The internet was incredibly slow. Don't expect to be able to use it for anything useful. if you're looking for a clean place to crash that isn't too expensive with no internet or customer service, it might be the hotel for you. If you want to be treated like a guest and have them provide what they promise, this isn't the hotel for you. Keep in mind, it's outside of Belize City. Taxi rides to the city will cost you$10-$15 USD. You save $5 USD to the airport, so it isn't worth staying outside of the city.

"Decent Room, Atrocious Internet Connectivity,"

My one week stay at this hotel has been spoiled by absolutely atrocious internet connectivity, so-so food and noisy courtyard parties and rowdy late-night pool users. In terms of location and amenities the hotel is close to the airport and to downtown Belize City. My room was clean, well appointed and well maintained. Customer service was ok, but not much more. I will not be staying at this hotel again, nor will I in good conscience recommend it to any business traveller who depends on a stable, high-broadband Internet connection, attentive customer service, good meals and a quiet stay.

"Don't expect to go to sleep early !"

The hotel is very clean, and the staff very friendly and accommodating. That's great. That being said, The hotel is U shaped, with the pool and the bar in the middle, surrounded by the rooms, The door of the rooms open directly into this open area.. The bar gets extremely loud, both the customers(at least 40+ on Friday night and I doubt that they were all staying at the hotel) and from the music being played on very very loud speakers. There was no attempt that I could tell of the management to try and contain the noise level.(another guest even complained to me about the noise level at breakfast Sat. AM). I get it, that they make serious money from their bar but what about the guests who stay there, pay over 100/night to SLEEP and most stay multiple nights! What's more important, shutting the bar down by 9:00-10:00 or piss off you guests so they stay elsewhere next time? I liked the hotel and would like to stay there again but some nights I need to go to sleep before midnight.

"Stayed for a wedding"

I recently stayed at this property for 3 nights to attend a wedding that was being held on site. The property itself was clean and safe, but given the opportunity, I likely wouldn't stay there again. My main complaints are primarily the customer service and the noise. Even from the first moments of check in, I couldn't help but feel my very presence was an annoyance to the staff. This similarly carried over to every time I ate at the on-site restaurant, where service is spread so thin that every meal there was an ordeal. Once at 1pm, our group was stopped in the hallway by a waitress who was still trying to figure out our checks from breakfast. With regard to noise, you should just presume that you will be privy to every conversation, pool party, and karaoke night, as all of the rooms are designed to open onto the main courtyard, where all the activity takes place. Overall, this was just a so-so stay and I have to say I expected more from what was billed as one of Belize City's premiere hotels.

This is a Good hotel close to the airport. The rooms are good and facing the pool and garden.Quite big rooms.The service is good. The price also good.There is a super market closeby .. The coffee shop and bar service good.

Nice hotel near the airport. We stayed there as a base to tour Tikal, Lamanai, old and new rivers, cave tubing and all points of interest with Belize Exotic Adventures. This hotel has a talented chef, the curry shrimp was heavenly and the fish, divine. Big Shout-out to Darrell/Daryll the security guard and gentleman's gentleman, he is an awesome human, thanks dude, you Rock, and I'll always be thankful for your kindness with saving my great-grandmother's cane. Rooms are Clean, and Bug Free, really clean. I put sticky traps under the bed and didn't catch anything. Didn't have a single bite the whole week. Edwardo the poolside bartender is another awesome human. He's got a great sense of humor and is a wonderful ambassador for Best Western and Belize. Thanks Edwardo. The front desk ladies were equally helpful, I just wish I could remember their names. I'm an early riser, up at 5 am, and they always had good fresh coffee in the restaurant or in the lobby. The grounds are beautiful and we'll maintained with an incredible array of jungle plants, trees and palms. We enjoyed our stay there. I just wish I hadn't forgotten something very important in our room. Called and emailed Maria Rodriguez yesterday at 11 am and 4 pm, she said they'd look where I hid my important items but 24 hours later and still no word so I'm freaking out a little. Yes, I'm to blame, I regularly stash stuff and forget where I put it. Unfortunately, what I left in the room is what no one ever wants to leave behind. Have confidence staying at this hotel as your base of operations to explore the countryside, pyramids and local flora and fauna and also, make sure you hire Nickoli of Belize Exotic Adventures to be your guide and trusted friend while you're in Belize. I recently stayed here with my husband and uncle. This hotel was recommended to us by several people. The room seemed a bit dated but it was clean. The wifi was very good...had no issues. Loved the pool area. It was clean and we had lunch. The food was delicious. We also ate in the restaurant twice and both time the service and food was good. Check in and check out was efficient.

We could only stay here one night. Wish I could have stayed longer. The room was recently remodeled (the bath is still out of date) and the room was super comfortable. We stayed our last night in Belize and from there, headed to the airport (no airport shuttle. Taxi to the airport will cost you $25 USD.)

"Nothing Fancy"

We stayed here for one night when our United Air flight was cancelled. The check in was super quick! The room was quite large with a good sized refrigerator and a very comfy bed. The complimentary two bottles of water in the room was also an added bonus! The bar here is quite expensive if you are ordering top shelf liquor. The restaurant is horrible both with the service and the quality of the food. There is a small shop near the lobby but it closes pretty early, so if you need something you better buy it sooner rather than later! The pool area was nice as pool areas go. The wi fi is free and worked well in our room. There is A/C but it is very loud (the sound was equivalent to an airplane ready for take off). There was some kind of entertainment there at night, it was very loud until the wee hours of the morning. I could actually hear it over the noise of the A/C! Check out was quick and painless!
