"Wonderful Clean Comfortable Stay"
Sherpa663149, 10 Mars 2024

The hotel is outside of city center, but only pretty 5 minute walk to the main metro line where you can buy a daily pass for very cheap, and the mero is very effective, easily the best way to get around. The front desk is so kind, accomidating, and helps answer any questions you have. They actually provided us a map and pointed out areas of interest, explained how to get to each, and made amazing recomendations. The main lobby has snacks, drinks, a coffee machine that makes lates and espresso, and a pizza oven which was AMAZING!!! So when we came in late we didnt have to worry about being starving. The hotel also has a restuaraunt which served good drinks and food for a reasonable price if you needed something quick. The rooms are in great condition, with a large space and clean updated bathroom. Although the view is not of the 'city' for the price, you can't beat the comofort and cleanliness. Highly recommend and would stay there again!

"Great night in Amsterdam"
461reinhardts, 11 Février 2024

Professional friendly staff and a general great experience. When you book include breakfast. The facility for meetings is sufficient downstairs in the coffee shop. The bar and restaurant has a nice ambiance and the grill is good.

"Basic nice hotel with bad restaurant"
Teme1979, 08 Janvier 2024

Rooms are pretty nice and large. There are no other restaurants nearby, so eat before you arrive. Hotel restaurant is horrible. Gas station food with real restaurant prices. Location is convenient for business use. Easy to arrive with your car and you can avoid city center traffic.

"Not the best Best Western"
Matt D, 07 Janvier 2024

But out of the way but the tram is only a 10 min walk. Stayed for 2 nights. Room wasn't made up the second day just new towels put in the unmade beds. Parking is very expensive so beware ! Pizza is from a vending machine. Nachos at the bar are good. Staff were ok. Wouldn't stay here again…

"Enforced stay"
Michael N, 16 Décembre 2023

Last minute booking as dumped at Schiphol by KLM, with no hotel booking. Mixed up with Best Western Plus which has a shuttle service so cost a lot extra to get there by taxi. Reception was OK after midnight. Only food available was Pizza from a self serve machine, so not ideal. Room location was like a prison block but room was a good size. Bed was OK but duvets small. Bathroom was a bit tired looking but adequate when one has no toiletries. Breakfast next day was buffet style and expensive at 19E each. Not much to do in vicinity of hotel. Taxi to airport would be 40E but by walking for tram into Central Station then getting train out it was <15E for a couple and allowed us time in the city centre.

"Amazing hotel"
L7213PNjennam, 14 Décembre 2023

Hotel was nice clean and very friendly but food we paid for in restaurant could have more Choice for 3 days we was half bored it just a Barbecue Only a little food need be bit more choice The breakfast was good drink service was good and snacks was just Disappointed in dinner as they wasn't much choice Walking distance from the hotel to city centre was about hour the tran I would use and taxi to airport was 40 euros the and back Amazing experience though thank u for Your hospitality

"Best hotel in Amsterdam for such a good price"
Rachel K, 20 Novembre 2023

Excellent experience. Friendly and accommodating staff. Extremely clean hotel with amenities and restaurant and bar available. I wasn't expecting much as it was so cheap but I was blown away. It was all modern and clean and spacious and was in an excellent spot. It is a 3 or 4 minute walk throw an estate to the tram stop which brings you directly into the city every 5-10 mins. Would definitely recommend!!!

"Nice hotel but hidden charges"
Climber63392906225, 02 Octobre 2023

The hotel rooms were nice and spacious with clean facilities. It was quiet and staff were friendly. It also had a 24/7 pizza vending machine which was well priced and really tasty. However when we arrived they didn't initially have one of the rooms on our booking available and on their system, and they also charged us a €150 deposit for each room (this wasn't disclosed when we booked,) as well as €18 non refundable charge per room in city tax. Just to note also, the hotel was quite far out from the city centre (45 mins to an hour on public transport and about 25/30 mins taxi,) so possibly avoid if you're looking for somewhere close to central.

"Decent 3 stars in a poor area"
Raymondbudd, 30 Septembre 2023

Stayed here ahead of IBC conference at the RAI, my stay was for 7 nights. It's a good location for the subway with easy access to RAI, Amsterdam Central and Zuid. As noted in other reviews it not located in the best area, I went to the local precinct a few times and was stopped each time by vulnerable adults. I can see how many would find this disturbing. The hotel is OK, friendly staff, good breakfast and generally decent. Clearly we are not talking about Marriott of Hilton here, so please don't go booking expecting this. 3 stars is about right.

"Good Stay at Best Western Amsterdam"
Charles G, 17 Septembre 2023

Location is quiet and good with easy access to the city center. Clean hotel and good breakfast options. They have soft beds and pillows. Awesome front desk team that are willing to help with any enquiry. They speak multiple languages as well

"Foul odour"
Bellameisie, 28 Août 2023

We had two rooms and the hotel smells of excrement. It is so overwhelming, my small child was concerned about walking on the floor. I don't know where the smell is coming from but it is vile. The facilities are old and run down. We stayed here due to the NATS system failure.

"Great hotel"
J1040FClouisem, 27 Août 2023

Brilliant hotel. Fantastic location. Next to the railway station and 10 minutes into Amsterdam. Stayed on a bed and breakfast holiday. Breakfast was lovely. Ept us going all day. Rooms were great. Will definitely return.

"An ok hotel"
Linda M, 29 Juillet 2023

This hotel is far out from central station. Hotel is ok, but in a run down area ….. Staff levels are good, but housekeeping leaves much to be desired. Breakfast has good choice and as there are hardly anywhere to eat outside hotel, it is good to have breakfast here. We had noise from 5th floor every night, which was awful.

"Customer Service Sadly Neglected"
Stay37129807052, 14 Juillet 2023

My recent stay at the hotel was a mixed experience. While the room was adequate for my needs, the level of customer service and the lack of certain amenities were disappointing. A primary issue I faced was the absence of a direct laundry service. I was attending a conference during my stay and required ironing for three of my suits. The hotel, instead of providing an in-house service, asked me to download an application from a card they provided. This external service had a turnaround time of 24 hours with no express ironing option, which was inconvenient for my schedule. Given the circumstances, I opted to iron my clothes myself. However, for the ironing board, the hotel required a deposit. It was also incumbent on me to collect and return the ironing board, adding another layer of discomfort to the situation. The lack of customer service was further evident on my departure day. With three pieces of luggage and the ironing board to handle, I requested assistance from the reception. Sadly, my request was outrightly denied, and the call ended without offering any alternatives or solutions. My rating of two stars is not solely for the non-availability of direct services like laundry. It was the staff's disregard for basic human courtesy, an essential trait in the hospitality industry, that largely influenced my rating. During my stay, I observed numerous instances of guests in strained discussions with the reception, signaling a widespread issue with customer relations. In summary, while the room met my basic requirements, the lack of in-house laundry service, poor customer service, and missing standard amenities significantly marred my overall experience. I advise future guests to consider these points when deciding to stay at this hotel.

"Decent hotel and an easy commute into the center of Amsterdam by tram"
doo dee d, 12 Juillet 2023

Nice hotel. Secure car parking 14.50euro a night is a must. Tram (no 2) into town is a 5 minute walk and around 30 minute ride into the centre of the city, however passes the main museum/galleries and Vondelpark on the way in if you want to jump off before you get to the centre. Bar food is decent but pricey as you would expect. It's between 7-9 euros for a beer (with a big foamy head!). There's a lidl a 5 minute walk from the hotel and we went a bought a couple of beers from the room to save some cash. Be warned though, the area is a bit rough and I probably wouldn't go wandering about after dark! I felt safe enough walking to the tram stop with the kids during the day though and didn't experience any problems. Tram is 4.50euro per day for kids and we paid 21 euro for a 3 day ticket for the adults. You can't get a 3 day ticket for the kids. Rooms were basic but comfortable. Bathroom could do with updating. Staff were nice and helpful too. Overall a good stay and good if you want a cheaper hotel which is easily commutable into the city.

"Bed"
Arthur F, 11 Juillet 2023

The bed is so nice and fluffy. The bathroom is small but it is ok. The TV is nice and big. The pillows are nice and the blanket is also very nice. We have a nice Table. And the room is also very big.

"Long Weekend Stay"
KizzieMc, 10 Juillet 2023

Me and my friend visited here on a long weekend away to Amsterdam; we found the location good as it wasn't too far out from the city centre, however also wasn't as extortionately priced as some closer hotels. We had a double room, which was a nice size, and very happy to have a good functioning air conditioner as the weekend was very hot. The room was of good quality, however the pillows for the bed were quite small compared to normal size pillows. Good sized fridge and tea making facilities, however had to ask bar staff for a spoon, and the cleaners weren't restocking the tea bags. Bathroom facilities were good, towels just a bit on the small side, and the shower water didn't drain very well when it went round the glass shower wall onto the floor by the sink area. Staff were friendly, and we made good use of the luggage hold as we had early flights in and late flights out. The only downside was we didn't have any food or drinks from there, as the prices were very high; £16 for one person for breakfast for me personally is far too much.

"Horrible reception staff"
Excursion30265469964, 08 Juillet 2023

The hotel room itself was lovely, however, there was an issue with the payment for our room prior to check in. Without going into too much detail, the payment was made through booking.com but Best Western had not received it. My partner and I paid for the room twice to ensure there was a room available, upon checking in the issue was seemingly resolved and we emailed all relevant receipts to the reception staff. The following day, we left the room and upon returning we found that our room would not unlock, bearing in mind that ALL of our belongings including our passports were in the room that we HAD paid for. Reception staff quoted ‘policy and procedure' that rooms are locked if payment is not received, however, this was discussed prior to check in AND again at check in, therefore, it was resolved. However, we were declined re-entry into our room with all of our belongings and not notified, as the hotel had ‘not received the payment'. Once again, we went through receipts and bank statements with hotel reception, where we were treated with contempt and apathy. Reception staff were completely unwilling to allow us into the room to access our OWN BELONGINGS unless we paid for the room AGAIN. The utter belligerence from the staff made the whole situation inconceivably more stressful, I am beyond disappointed with the way we have been treated during our stay here. While I do understand that this entire situation was not something easily solved by hotel staff as there was a third party (booking.com) involved, my complaint is regarding the manner of which it was dealt with. Best Western website quotes- “Best Western is dedicated to providing you with the best possible travel experience. We operate in an industry built on trust and guest satisfaction.” Evidently this ideal is not observed by all staff. Myself and my partner are unfortunately only English speakers and while I understand that English may have not been the receptionists first language, it seemed to us that they were purposely excluding us in their conversation while discussing our circumstances amongst themselves. This made us feel further alienated and again increased the already tense situation. Finally we were forced to pay for our room for a third time and only then were we able to enter the room and access our only belongings in the country.

"My stay"
marinanR2694BZ, 09 Février 2023

I traveled to Amsterdam for a business event and our stay was in Best Western Amsterdam. The room was clean, quite and really nice. They changed our towels and cleaned the room every day. The breakfast was good and various. Overall I liked everything and I can recommend it for sure.

"Best Western (without Comfort) "
nisanya, 30 Décembre 2022

This was our second visit to this hotel. The room wasn't cleaned and the shower did not have a curtain. Not the best of the stays. The breakfast place was super crowded and some of the items were not refilled, making it not a plesant experience. The parking price is pretty high.

"Good rooms and an excellet cooking staff."
K4176YAgk, 27 Novembre 2022

The cooking staff really care about you even in closing hours, making sure that not only a plate but a small buffet is ready for you without asking. The rooms are quite nice and the gym facility is great

"Excellent value for money hotel"
Global21079425475, 25 Novembre 2022

Stayed for a week for work .. and it was absolutely excellent. The staff are really friendly and attentive,,the breakfast is just what you need and the evening buffet meal is superb value for money (and a dessert choice to die for !). Its 5 mins walk to tram 2 which gets you into the city centre and there's supermarkets (Lidl etc) next door. And it's quiet so you get a good nights sleep.

"really terrible"
Alessia V, 04 Novembre 2022

I stayed 4 nights. rooms have not a window to let some air come in. totally absent cleaning and breakfast cups in the room not washed or changed. i complained at the reception and i was told that i would have washed the breakfast cups by myself. I pointed out that I was not at my house and I did not have any dish soap but I was told that it was enough to rinse with water .... if I wanted to do housecleaning I would have stayed at home and would not have stayed in a hotel….

"Amazing choice!"
wrdsj773, 29 Octobre 2022

Very friendly staff. Great rooms for the price. Supermarket close by, metro and tram: easy to reach the center. Practical location, easy to park. I had been there for one week, and it was great. Highly recommended.

"Enjoying the life"
Dalecito, 22 Octobre 2022

Room was comfortable and big window. Breakfast is very good with a good variety. Excellent location: bus station around the corner. Tram station is two blocks away and train station is 10 minutes walking.

"Excellent, Budget-Friendly Hotel"
Janet H, 17 Octobre 2022

The Best Western Amsterdam is about 25 minutes from the airport. Although out of the city central area, the hotel has a tram stop just a block away. The tram is easy to negotiate, and it goes right to the downtown area, train station, and canal boats. The hotel is managed by an incredible young man who makes sure the entire staff caters to its guests, as evidenced by its superior cleanliness, wonderful bar and restaurant, and helpful desk employees. The beds were comfortable, the rooms were big, and the bathrooms had wonderful towels. It's a great hotel for a great price!

"Enjoy the stay at the cozy, clean and friendly staff"
tjetjepr, 10 Octobre 2022

The stay we're prefer after Milan, since it's close to airport for early checkin as a preparation of long queue at schiphol airport. Large and clean room with a complete amenities in bathroom. Love to have a dedicated coffee machine with delicated assorted coffee. Overall, I'm enjoying the stay at hotel with friendly staff.

"Beautiful Hotel amazing Customer Service"
DanielleH1995, 03 Octobre 2022

Myself and my partner arrived at the end of September to Amsterdam with having a 2 night stay at this hotel. As we arrived the beautiful open lounge was very welcoming, we were soon Welcomed at reception. The gentleman that was checking us in was very friendly and very helpful, even creating some small chat with us. The room and bathroom was very big and beautiful and extremely clean. Even when we ran out of coffee and sugar the reception and bar staff were very accommodating and gave us more. I definitely recommend this beautiful hotel for your stay in Amsterdam. Its also not too expensive to stay here and only a 30 minute train ride to the city centre where you can also catch a train to and from the airport. We certainly will be back... Ps they had a pozza vending machine there too not bad prices too. (Excuse all the rubbish, all pictures attached were taken on departure of hotel to come home.)

"Inconsiderate, rude, unfriendly and condescending"
connorq456, 15 Août 2022

Had a pretty rough experience. Last minute cancellation as I fell ill and had to cancel my trip, and whilst trying to negotiate rebooking options received a plethora of condescending messages and attempts at deflecting the blame onto bookings.com, who agreed that the customer service agents for the hotel were rude and unsympathetic. We did not receive any of our money back for our booking nor were there any attempts to help us find a meaningful solution. Wouldn't recommend at all, you'd be better off at a hostel.

"EXTREMELY RUDE AND NON-HUMAN HOTEL - AVOID"
ArtursK20, 13 Août 2022

One of the WORST Customer Services EVER and no human decency at all. Our friend got seriously ill and we needed to change the dates of the booking. We offered to pay extra, even though the room was cheaper at a later date and they refused completely. No matter how much we asked, there was no human emotion nor sympathy. Even Booking.com called and emailed them multiple times and said that they were Extremely Rude to them too and it's Shocking they didn't want to agree to a simple date change. WE LOST OVER 700.00EUR !!! PLEASE BE AWARE IF BOOKING WITH THEM AND LOOK AT OTHER NEGATIVE REVIEWS. THIS PLACE NEEDS TO BE AVOIDED LIKE PLAGUE AS YOUR TRIP WILL BE RUINED - PEOPLE LIKE THIS LEAVE A VERY BAD IMPRESSION OF AMSTERDAM. I Added a part of the convo (as picture) so you can see how their Customer Service replies.

"A true 7.5/10 but understaffed"
Josh S, 10 Août 2022

This is a great example of a hotel being perfectly clean, and nice, without being spectacular. There's nothing I can fault them on, I just wasn't writing home about anything either. The only real issue was how understaffed they were, which is a post-pandemic problem we see everywhere. I'd happily stay here again, and as it was we extended our stay all week. It's easy to get around from, great cafes nearby and a short stroll to the water where a wine on the banks is just devine. If you are going to be working, the wifi was fine but it does dropout for about 5 seconds every 20 minutes. It can be annoying, but I was able to work just fine. Hotel breakfast is an English style. Lots of bacon, but go the boiled eggs. The scrambled must be made of powder or something as they were devoid of taste. Coffee is unlimited at breakfast and that's important. Would I stay again? Yes certainly.

"Family trip to Amsterdam"
debojyotir484, 09 Août 2022

Very nice location, fast check in and very courteous service. Highly recommended . We reached little late, but the room was ready and we could check in within 5 mins. Very clean hotel and also serves unlimited buffet dinner for 24.50 € /pp till 1000 pm

"Superb hotel"
punitrash24, 08 Août 2022

I am having an amazing experience staying in this hotel. It is within budget and yet luxurious hotel. Staff is friendly and the food is yummy and along with that the services are really good. I would recommend this hotel for any person visiting Amsterdam.

"Extremely pleased "
Peter M, 22 Juillet 2022

EXCELLENT, CLEAN,BRIGHT,EFFICIENT AND easy access to trams.Happy and helpful staff everywhere. Book direct as very popular. Handy three supermarkets close by,as are a couple of restaurants. Watch out for the beggars though. Local housing estates seem safe at night. Plenty of hot water. Bad news no room tea making facilities and not enough shower gel. Each room has a/c and fridge. Great value and location

"Nice Property"
THINGS2LIVE4, 07 Juin 2022

The property is located about six or seven minutes walking from the western entrance of Vondelpark. From this property it is an easy walk to the museums. To get to Central Station/Damm Square it would be about three miles walking. There are street cars/public transportation that you can use to get to Central Station/City Center. The front desk can sell you a public transportation pass. If you are returning late at night/early morning from city center you would have to take the night bus if you don't fell like walking. There is a COVID test site a couple of minutes away that the front desk can direct you to. There are two grocery stores and some great restaurants a minute walk from the hotel, just take the side walk that goes under the highway.

"Nice room but unpleasant check in."
willemijnb581, 13 Mai 2022

Our room was nice and clean. However, we did experience difficulties at the check in. After waiting for 30 minutes, the clerk told us that the triple room we booked was not available. We were put in separate rooms and told to be glad we at least had a room. They were very rude and unapologetic. Location was good, metro and tram close by.

"Overpriced and lackluster"
tomfeb27, 22 Avril 2022

A lovely view of concrete and cladding, heating within the room was constant, with no working thermostat, ugly uncovered pipes on display. The hotel provides soap, body wash, plastic cup and a towel... no toothpaste or anything more. Staff were polite, and the room cleaned each day. The location of the hotel is okay, as the metro is a 10-15 minute walk. If you enjoy nightlife and late nights, not the most ideal. As the last metro is around 12. Amsterdam isn't the most modern city, with a lack of pay as you go electric scooters (almost every other major city within Europe has them) and Boris bike equivalent. Ovi-fiets require a card, not available to tourists. The hotel offers bike rental, however, Amsterdam central is roughly a 30-minute bike ride, when intoxicated not the best mode of transport.

"Worst Western Hotel"
IliasK397, 12 Avril 2022

Have checked to this hotel on April 9 until April 14. After three days of stay-April12- we had to repeatedly contact the desk cause our room has not been made up, no towels, soaps replenished, no trash taken out, no fresh clean bedsheets on the beds. Their reply was: that there was no room make up service at approx. 09:30 a.m when we left for downtown, promising that later within the day it would have been sorted out. We were also asked whether we had placed the Make up my room sighn on the door. There was no such sign in the room... Coming back the same day at 22:30, the room was in the same condition. Nobody from the hotel staff responsible for room cleaning, has bothered to do anything, thus leaving us without fresh bedsheets, trash cans full, no soap, towels e.t.c. All other rooms on the same floor had no such problem. On contacting the desk again, complaining, they did gave us fresh towels, one roll of toilet paper and...hair conditioner instead of soap, offering also a free drink at the already closed hotel restaurant ....& assuring us that they would make up the room tomorrow April 13th. At a charge of € 567 breakfast not included for 5 nights, one would expect at least a decent, clean accomodation with the basic amenities nowdays. This hotel is nothing of the sort and certainly not worth bearing the title/name Best Western but Worst Western !!!! Avoid it at all costs-its location is not that great either,- the rooms in our case had no view, breakfast served-at a charge of € 25 per person was incomplete, with insufficient quantities to cover all the guests present, with the staff hastily preparing additional portions at the very last minute, obviously working beyond capacity. Staff at the desk marginally friendly ( they bumped us on the line while checking in quite a few times, over other guests who came after us) very slow & non-professional. There is no question abt it, for that kind of money you can get far better, and most important, decent deals in this city. This hotel is a shame for the city of Amsterdam & the Dutch Tourism as well...

"A very unpleasant experience"
U355SFluciap, 10 Avril 2022

My friends and I had a terrible experience. We checked in on Saturday at 2pm after queuing 20 min at the reception, we provided our documents, paid, got the park permit and also added the breakfast to the reservation. The receptionist told to us at the end of the procedure that the rooms were not ready yet and we could come back later to get the keys as we already checked in. All sounded ok and reasonable to us up to that point. We came back late in the evening and the second receptionist panicked and started saying that his colleagues in the afternoon made a disaster, that he could see that we checked in but he could not find our room. We had to show the park permit to allow him to track our room down despite the booking reservation and the payment. He kept speaking badly about his colleagues and then he provided to us with a key of a room. We went to the room and we opened but somebody was already occupying it as there were all their belongings. Luckily nobody was present. We went back down to front desk, the receptionist panicked again saying he had no rooms for us and it was his colleague's fault. He finally found a solution in the same hotel. We managed to sleep, but they did nothing to improve our condition after the discomfort they created and it was very disturbing hearing the staff keep blaming each other. Most importably, by providing us with the keys of other's rooms they highly breached the security and the privacy of other guests. I felt highly uncomfortable and unsafe the whole time of my staying. I will never book in this hotel again.

"Good hotel, feels like home."
wrdsj773, 01 Mars 2022

Good value and service. The staff is very friendly. The room was impeccable clean and fresh. Everything was great. I asked for a late check-out, they were very nice giving me a late check-out. Highly recommend.

"Very unprofessional staff and total rip off hotel"
prir2013, 14 Février 2022

I booked a room for two nights for € 397.67(very pricey) at this hotel in 2019 to attend a festival in Amsterdam but then pandemic happened and things changed completely. My friends who booked other hotels somewhere else either got refund or credits to use whenever they can plan to visit Amsterdam but this hotel kept on insisting only giving voucher for six months and you will have to book in that time even though we had different covid variants coming in 2020-2021. I tried to explain them my situation and festival I was coming for has been moved to some other city so I requested them to extent my voucher for 2022 and I will surely book my hotel and visit there but they dint listen to me and told me if i dont book then I wont get to book anything in 2022 and here we are, I had to let go € 397.67 as there was still pandemic in 2021 and I countn't book anything, this hotel has been taking advantage of pandemic and would never ever come here and make sure my friends wouldn't either.

"Good hotel, happily surprised."
sjoerd_water, 01 Décembre 2021

A good hotel with budget rooms with a perfect price-quality ratio. Beds are good, room cleaning is perfect and very friendly and helping staff. All basic things are available, bed, shower, desk, electricity, telephone, safe, TV and small fridge. Stayed overnight here a few times a week for work and will be more often.

"Disappointed"
aledad343, 02 Novembre 2021

I'm a BW member and this was probably the worst BW hotel I stayed in. Staff was ok but they asked to pay during the check-in when you should let customers go to their room after a trip. The room was fine too but we had two windows, one facing stairs so we had to keep it close and the other one above the bed and not reachable without jumping on the bed. Empty mini-bar. Small restroom with non functioning toilet and open shower (no curtain or door present) so all the floor would get wet. Room cleaning very poor considering we got our bed sheets reversed (one side was purple and then we noticed that it was reversed to cover it) and our clothes moved from a side to another without care. A funny plus: empty bottles were removed from the room when we could reuse them (eco-friendly service ;) )

"Not friendly staff"
336luizaugustoc, 27 Juillet 2021

The staff was not helpful at all during our stay. They did not share any valuable information about public transport when I asked. When I requested to borrow some cutlery from the restaurant, I was told they could not share. Staff did not share any information about restaurants close to the area.

"GOOD"

"40 DEGREE ROOMS WITH NO AIR CON!!! TERRIBLE HOTEL. WASTE OF MONEY"
jessicacM8931BE, 11 Août 2020

WILL NEVER RETURN, DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. Absolutely disgusting service. Arrived on the 8th of August at 7am to be put in a room which had the heating on full when it was 34 degrees outside, no air con. The window wouldn't open fully so it was around 40 degrees in the room. The couple we were travelling with got checked into a room where someone was laying on the bed, and then got checked into another room with wee all over the seat and floor and dead flys everywhere. They had air con even though they paid the exact same as us. We complained and asked to move rooms but got told that there was no rooms left, even though there were rooms on Booking. Com for that night. The woman at the reception had the biggest attitude problem and told me that "she stays in the rooms in that heat all the time" and that she had no cleaners when there were cleaners in the hall ways at that time. As we were on the top level we had to go in the lift which had a sign "2 people max or a family" at one point me and my partner went into the lift and then one of the MANAGERS got into the lift with us?? No social distancing there. Ridiculous. This hotel ruin our holiday and I will NEVER be using this hotel and will be telling everyone I know and share on social media how badly we were treated.

"hotel baru"
Lowell-Fin, 04 Juillet 2020

It is very good. we went to Europe before and we plan to return back to Amsterdam and the hotel allow us to keep the luggage at the hotel. The hotel's rooms is very modern and clean. Next to the station.

"Horrendous service"
DaniKp592, 07 Avril 2020

Booked this hotel through Agoda. Obviously in the middle of a global pandemic with travel restrictions in place (including a do not travel order from the UK) and nothing open the trip needed to be cancelled. The hotel have refused to amend dates or refund the amount paid to them. Between Best Western and Agoda the service has been shocking - avoid both at all costs.

"customer service is a joke ! AVOID"
U7388MP, 25 Mars 2020

Honestly, i am outraged with the customer service i have come into contact with during the covid-19 pandemic. This hotel only cares about one thing and that is taking peoples money without providing any help. we have called the hotel 9 times and each time have been passed onto different places all to be told that the hotel cant help us. Our flights were with easyjet and got cancelled so we have no way of leaving the uk (whos customer service was 5*) . NO offer of dates can be offered NO refund can be offered. after satying here 3 times before they show no loyalty or thanks. its not a great hotel anyway so you would be better finding somewhere closer to the centre and enjoying your stay without seeing a rat as soon as you walk outside the hotel.

"No flexibility at all"
Chris2o2o, 24 Mars 2020

Had two rooms booked for a friend and I to stay for 3 nights at the end of March and paid in full in January almost €600. Having now been told by the UK government not to travel I contacted both this Hotel and Booking.com to see if we could get a refund or at least change to future dates when this is hopefully all over. I got a definite no from the Hotel to either option and Booking.com tell me they can't assist either. The confusing thing is Best Western had issued a worldwide revised cancellation policy due to the Corona Virus which allowed refunds or date changes yet the Hotel and Booking.com totally ignore this. It's a lesson learned and all I can do now is never stay at this Hotel or any other Best Western in the future and also not use Booking.com and always choose a pay on arrival policy and would advise others to do the same.

"Refused to help with Coronavirus"
coffeespoonman, 24 Mars 2020

As many others have said, Best Western Amsterdam refused to refund the money for reservation, change dates, or take any kind of action at all to help during this time of travel restrictions, closed borders and international chaos. Every other hotel I had booked for my trip canceled without penalty or question. We are all in this together, and Best Western Amsterdam has clearly demonstrated exactly how much they care about the well-being of their customers and community. Disgraceful.

"Unhelpful"
Q5007HUjamies, 22 Mars 2020

Booked two rooms for a stag do and due to coronavirus had to cancel the trip. Contacted hotel in hope they may honour a refund as not to put themselves and guests at risk but advised cancellation was available but no money to be refunded. Appreciate they run a business and should have taken option to pay at hotel over paying upfront but feel as this option is available they should have at least offered part refund. Will not be staying here when we come to re-book. No change of dates offered either.

"Shame"
Okan A, 20 Mars 2020

Booked a room months ago through an agency. Due to Corona virus problem - travels are banned to NL and from TR. So I contacted the hotel first. They rejected. Then asked to agency to support. And agency said they insisted but the hotel did not accept. 2 days before my reservation starts Best Westen Group declared from their webpage that their customers can cancel their reservation no matter what. But the hotel still didn't agree.

"Coronavírus "
biancaruscillo, 18 Mars 2020

Do not book or choose this hotel! Even in times of crisis due to the Coronavirus, we were not given an option to postpone or compensate. I called hotel and they didn't offer any compensation. They never concerned about maintaining a good relationship, or creating good connections with the customer. They acted as if they don't care for other people's health. They claimed that everything was working, so if I decided to decline to go, it would be a personal option of mine ... The hotel's attitude is unfortunate!

"Cleaner THIEF- Stay away!"
Benno0313, 15 Mars 2020

We stayed at this hotel last week for four days. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful however the cleaners are theives! I'm always a little sceptical when having my room cleaned abroad but after a couple of days, we needed fresh towels so hung the sign on the door to say please clean our room. We returned later that evening ti find that our snacks had been taken. Might seem trivial as money wise, it's not expensive but it's the principle. Not only had the snacks been taken but there was coffee stains all up one wall where the cleaner has thrown around the rubbish bag when emptying the bin. I spoke with the manager immediately as i did not want to be charged for the dirty wall. In relation to the theft, i was told that i would not be allowed to speak to the cleaner or the cleaners supervisor the following day because they're an outside company and not employed by the hotel. We were told that cleaners steal but then move from hotel jobs to hotel jobs so there's nothing that could be done? I felt like the manager was not taking us seriously because it was 'just snacks' and nothing of value. We were offered stroopwaffles and a keyring as an apology and advised to put everything in the hotel safe? Do not book!

"Best western Amsterdam is revolting - no date change allowed due to corona virus"
KayGee2020, 10 Mars 2020

I have made a booking for April. My 66 yr old mother is chronically asthmatic and has been given not to travel at this time due to corona - hotel will not refund or change date they stole over 3000euros from us . How can they on a time of a global pandemic expect us to risk our lives and fly there. All we asked is for a date change not even a refund . Then Sophie the rest manager has the cheek to tell me it's my fault as I didn't book a refundable option! How was I to know at the time of my booking that 3 months later there would be a Global viral outbreak. I am disgusted in how we r being treated and Will ensure that this is made known on every social media platform and expose them

"Great stay"
shahzadig, 27 Février 2020

The staff were friendly, the breakfast was great and the room was comfortable and clean. We had 2 good sized double beds which were perfect for us as a family of 4. More hotels should offer this. It is in a good location too not far from the airport or the centre. Thank you very much for a lovely stay.

"Excellent stay. Great hotel"
steve p, 26 Février 2020

Well positioned with metro close to hand. 20 min either to central or schipol. Peaceful atmosphere. Staff very helpful. Only minor critique is the lack of veggie food available. If you dont like pizza or fish and chips be prepared to dine out or shop from the Albert Heinj which is about 2 mins walk away. We'll be back here again!

"Rude stuff, half size pillows hot and cold shower"
Demi C, 14 Février 2020

Unfortunately the pictures are very deceiving Tram 5 minutes away from hotel Based on a construction site Full of young gangs Staff and management so rude No baths just showers Pillows are half a size only given one pillow Towels are for a small slim person They give you a double bed which is two singles pushed together with a thin foam put on top Shower blows hot and cold so one minute your freezing and next it scalds you I have sent an email over a week ago however it seems they are not interested in the way customers should be spoken too or treated Avoid at all cost

"Hotel"
609lynnel, 10 Février 2020

Hotel was clean and welcoming. Gets quite busy. Rooms cleaned everyday we were there. Did have a bar, restaurant and vending machines in foyer. No tea coffee facilities in rooms which I would have preferred but did have a mini fridge which was good to keep water and fruit etc. I would Defo recommend this hotel. Quite easy to get around. 5 mins walk to tram.

"Not a fan"
Ben H, 06 Février 2020

Stayed here a few years ago and from what i remember it was a nice quiet hotel. It's now been renovated and looks beautiful! However... The view from the window is a massive building site with skips and bins outside.. The noise from the workers begins at 7am and stops around 5pm.. Do you really want to be next to a building yard on your hoilday?? Apart from that its a nice hotel, Such a let down.

"Holiday"
BrigittaH_13, 02 Février 2020

Lovely hotel. The staff are wonderful and extremely helpful. Great rooms, TV and very clean. Food is wonderful. A little out of the centre of town but public transport closeby! Coffee machine is great, serves great coffee!

"Very good for the price!"
lauramgp16, 02 Février 2020

Thé hôtel is a little bit far from the city center, but 15/20min in tram and you arrive to the city center and it's worthy because of the difference of the price from the hotels in the center. Breakfast was really good for the price. The staff was really nice, especially the Barman. Only thing was the room had like a “old” smell when we arrived. I definitely will come back!

"Things Stolen from room"
lucy2194, 23 Janvier 2020

Absolutely shocking I've had things stolen from my room from housekeeping and reception couldn't have been any less helpful shocking from a hotel! Housekeeper said she didn't take it so that was it! Staff laughing about it no help what so ever total disrespect for customers and there possessions avoid at all costs!

"Comfortable rooms and friendly staff"
Couplestravelaround, 20 Janvier 2020

Though it is not in the heart of Amsterdam it is a five min walk to the tram that takes you right to the centre of Amsterdam. The hotel was lovely and comfortable our room had the motorway right outside but didn't hear a thing. Would recommend if you are keeping you cost low and want comfort. Parking was a little expensive for staying in the hotel but I guess there are hidden cost with everything.

"Great for a city break"
sophdub136, 17 Janvier 2020

Great hotel for a short city break! We stayed here for 3 days during January. The hotel is around 15 minutes from the city centre with the train station around the corner. You can get a train from the airport to the city centre and then another train from centraal station to the hotel. We didn't know this upon arrival and found out the hard way by taking 2 trains a bus and walking a lot :) The staff in the hotel were friendly and helpful. The rooms were nice but very basic which is perfect for a city break in my opinion. Not many restaurants around so would suggest dining in the centre. Overall a nice hotel however personally I would prefer to stay closer to the city centre.

"very well price quality relation. Fine chambers, nice bar and people!"
Geert F, 09 Janvier 2020

very well price quality relation. Fine chambers, nice bar and people! Dont use food over here. Minor point is they dont have coffee service at the bar in the morning and I miss local gym facilities. Top!

"Book elsewhere "
emma_2761, 04 Janvier 2020

Could hear everything from our room, people talking and a very loud sound of what I think was drainage 90% of the time?? Room was cold (especially the bathroom) even with the radiators turned up high constantly. Bathroom wasn't overly clean either on arrival. Not much nearby, tram stop is about a 10 minute walk away to get to the centre. Only pro was a Lidl's 2 minute walk down road. We bought breakfast for one morning which was equally disappointing for the price, no sausages and everything else a bit naff. Would definitely not stay again

"Poor service"
587manelm, 29 Décembre 2019

Shameful experience! Going down to the breakfast room and asking to pay and be able to bring some tea and toast to my pregnant wife who was not feeling so well and… being refused! I understand this to be hotel policy. It is still a terrible service!

"Embarrassing"
Abebatt, 28 Décembre 2019

We booked two months in advance a triple room paying a little bit less than 400€ for two nights without breakfast. The room was poor. The window (which cannot be opened) faces the interior of the hotel: yes basically it s a room looking at the corridor and at the reception. So there is no way of getting any kind of fresh air. The beds and pillows are soft, so if you are used to hard ones as myself, you wont feel confortable. Since the room faces the reception, and the insulation isn t great, if there is something going on at the reception, or the receptionist gets a call and the phone rings, it will wake you up. When we arrived the room wasn t sparkling clean; the bathroom had several hairs here and there. For the price you can find something better, or at least closer to the center.

"Good hotel for families "
gemyoung81, 28 Décembre 2019

The hotel was well located for city exploring and offers parking at an extra cost. We chose it because it was listed as family friendly and provided cots - but after chasing the cot 4 times we were finally informed at 10pm we would not get one. After complaining that it took until Now to tell me despite me booking one, they finally provided a broken cot that sufficed for the night. The rooms were standard and fine/clean. The phones didn't work so if you needed to speak to reception or housekeeping it was a visit to the front desk. The double beds are two singles on wheels that come apart easily so you easily fall down the middle of them in the night. The breakfast is overpriced for what is offered. No fresh fruit, only tinned fruit. I wouldn't go as far as to complain- but it was also not one I would rave about or recommend to a friend. It was a practical option for us as a large family. Easy access via tram to the city and 15 / 20 minute walk to the Vondelpark.

dberic2019, 10 Décembre 2019

Best Western Amsterdam offers me a great stay in Amsterdam with good services, good location with reasonable price. The lobby offers free of charge lemon tea. There is supermarket nearby. With around 10 mins walk, there are bus stations and Metro.

"Blackmail and threatening"
Pavla J, 24 Novembre 2019

I arrived with my 5 months old son and my 16 yrs old son on 14th November, at approx 11pm. My teenage son was in a bad state - he had a fever and when I was doing check in, even though I have paid whole sum for 3 nights stay , I was told that I will not get a key if I don't pay extra money. They told me that I didn't pay for kids. But my booking was for all of us. I needed to get kids to bed so I paid what they wanted and then after kids were in bed I went downstairs to speak with them with evidence of my booking. Receptionist was angry, shouting at me that my teenage son is not kid, or that I just booked room for me and baby cot????!!!! but not for any other person even my reference clearly stated 1 adult, one baby (0) and child (16). When I pointed it out receptionist with no excuse grabbed my phone and angrily left somewhere??? He brought back some ‘manager' and then it started. He really wanted to be heard by entire crowd in the lounge, he was yelling into my face that I act arrogant that they have it on cameras. I was just like: ‘Ok.' And I was leaving because I didn't like the situation. It was not the end. The ‘manager' was following me down the corridor to the elevator shouting at me that he will throw me on the street! And I was just like ‘Wow, yeah, throw me on the street with my 5 months old baby...' He told me that he didn't care. The next day (today) I really felt like I wanted talk about it with someone from hotel, they called me the same ‘manager'!!!!

"This place is a real gem in AMS."
IggyHiggins, 24 Novembre 2019

I spent a week here with a friend. We shared a room, which was huge with 2 double beds. The location was a worry for me but it really couldn't be easier to get in to town. I've stayed in hotels in AMS nearer yet more difficult to get to Centraal from. The tram stop is around the corner and goes directly to Centraal Station, past all the landmarks, museum quarter, Leidseplein, coffee shops, restaurants etc are just 15 mins or so on the tram number 2. This place also has AMAZING vending machines for late night snacks including AN ICE CREAM VENDING MACHINE. Take my money!! :D The hotel is clean and modern, the staff were really friendly and we had no real issues. Bad bits: The shower was frankly dangerous and needs attention. It almost scalded my friend and then me. You could be enjoying a perfect shower and suddenly the water comes out at a dangerously high temperature. If you aren't quick you will hurt yourself. There is also no kettle or tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms, but you can buy a kettle from the Lidl next door for a fiver. It's cheaper than buying coffee from the machines. The rooms have fridges, decent TVs and not much else, but it's all you need. There is a cigarette machine in the lobby, a bar, restaurant and pool table. This is a hotel that is good for business and also great for a lads weekend etc. There was a good mix of guests, but once back in the room we didn't hear a peep. All in all I would highly recommend this hotel for a low priced stay in AMS

"Good location"
6571582, 23 Novembre 2019

Hotel decor is nice and rooms are clean, the first room we were given was very warm and the air con did not work very well, the window was looking onto the inside of the hotel so we requested a room with a external window which we could open for air, they swapped our rooms without a problem. The hotel is situated in a quiet residential area with a tram stop about 10 mins walk away, from there you can get a tram to central which takes about 15 mins. Tram tickets can be purchased from the hotel reception. There is a bar and vending machines in the lobby and a decent sized fridge in the rooms. Aldi and a few other shops and takeaways are on the same street a few minutes walk away.

"Great place to stay"
Rachel C, 17 Novembre 2019

Pros: location - easy walk to tram. Restaurants nearby. Very clean and comfy. Pizza served late. Would definitely stay here again. Cons: doors slamming in hallway - noisy. Water temp fluctuates in shower - warm to scalding. Smell of cigs sometimes wafts into room.

"Best Western Amsterdam"
Shelanee, 16 Novembre 2019

Clean and nice. Room is spacious. In just about a hundred meters are Lidl, Action, Albert Heijn, and several other shops. You can opt to not have breakfast included in your stay. There is a small fridge in the room. You need to bring toothpaste and toothbrush since they only provide soap and shampoo.

"Let down by one member of staff"
P6027GOpaulb, 10 Novembre 2019

Clues to trams, clean, good WiFi. Staff full of good advice and helpful, apart from one bar dragon who refused to allow us to have a drink in the - almost empty - restaurant as we were not having food. Rules, ya know. Still, good value overall and I'll stay here again.

"Very disappointed"
Aim678, 19 Octobre 2019

The hotel is not in a very nice area, me and my friend did not feel safe walking from the train and tram station back to the hotel. Far away from central and spent a lot of money on transport. Room was okay but had half eaten cookie in the corner and we saw rats by the bins from our window. Breakfast was awful! Only got food available was bacon, scrambled egg and beans for £11!!! Would not recommend.

"Decent place, dismal attitude"
Tanuja M, 16 Octobre 2019

The recent stay, 14-16 th October was marred. One of the male receptionists was rude and arrogant. I would not recommend any friend to stay there based on the attitude of a couple of staff members at reception and restaurant. A room with no view but neat, clean and convenient....

"Good hotel, good service, good rooms"
Doug G, 16 Octobre 2019

Nice place, well equipped, very good staff. Clean decent rooms, mine was facing highway and was silent, I am a very light sleeper. I would stay here again as the location was very good. Could use face cloths with the towels.....

"Good hotel, bad location"
moeafifi, 15 Octobre 2019

The room was spacious for 3 people. -Bathroom was clean with soap and all. -Beds were perfect!! Very relaxing and the pillows were very nice. -Quiet hotel with no noise anywhere. Overall experience was perfect, thank you Best Western. · The location is a bit far, 28 minutes to Dam square by tram from 8 minutes walk to a close by tram station. But this hotel was much better than other hotels in the city centre so you get to choose depending on what you want, we chose a comfortable stay and a longer distance. Other than that it's a very good hotel.

"newly renovated"
EAGLE1998, 12 Octobre 2019

Minibar was very useful. Hotel has one big issue : on hot days the rooms get hot very easily when i 1st got in the room it felt like a sauna and it was only +/- 27º outside. If the room has AC then you are ok. The hotel is newly renovated so i think all rooms have AC.

"Good value of money."
Keve Zobogany S, 08 Octobre 2019

Good staff, near to Lidle and Albert Heiji market (a kind of bakery). You can take the tram number 2 to central statiion and downtow. Bright room, comfortable bed and clean bathroom. Good value of money.

"Did not have our reservation, rude staff"
msosnowska, 04 Octobre 2019

We arrived from Canada to find that the hotel did not have our reservation (even though we received a confirmation/reminder email just few days prior to our arrival). The hotel was now fully booked so we had to find another accommodation. It was our first time in Amsterdam and the hotel is well outside of the city and a distance from public transit so the situation was very stressful. The staff wouldn't even let us use their phones to contact booking.com to figure out our next steps. We think they use numerous booking sites and decided to give our space to another, higher paying customer. Luckily booking.com was really helpful and set us up at Corendon City Hotel Amsterdam (which was spectacular and close to public transit with very wonderful staff).

"Lovely hotel"
markkkyy, 28 Septembre 2019

We stayed here for 3 nights was pleasantly surprised by reception area very clean and modern with friendly, professional staff. We were allowed to have our room early which was good and we were in room 164 it was very clean and spacious for 2 people. We used the coffee machine it's 2 euros and the coffee is decent. Used the bar for drinks a few times and thought prices were reasonable and staff friendly. It's around 5 minutes walk to the tram stop where you get the number 2 into town and it takes 15-20 minutes and it's 19 euros for 72 hours very reasonable. I travel to quite a lot of European cities and for the money the hotel is very good don't understand the negative reviews it is a little way out of city centre so if you don't want a 20 minute tram ride stay in the centre but you would pay double what you pay here for a room. Will stay here again next time I'm in Amsterdam.

"Disappointing"
J L, 20 Septembre 2019

Summary: nothing terribly wrong with the hotel, but nothing terribly good either. Location: in a not very salubrious residential part of Amsterdam, quite off the city centre. This in itself is not a major issue, as public transport links (particularly the #2 tram) are fairly good. But it means the area is dead in the evening, with nowhere to go for a meal or a drink. There is an overpriced Chinese restaurant, and two take-away places looking distinctly run-down and not inviting, in the small commercial centre nearby, full of beggars (persistent, but not aggressive) after dark. There is an elevated urban motorway just outside the hotel, but the noise didn't unduly disturb us (first floor room, facing the motorway). The reception staff were smiling, cheerful and helpful. The room service was disorganised: the cleaners coming late (4-5 pm), on the penultimate day of our stay the cleaner was convinced we had already checked out and started moving our belongings out of the room as forgotten property. Twice a room service supervisor (?) came late to ask whether the room had been cleaned; this tell a lot of the quality of the cleaning staff. The restaurant is a joke: only pizza is on the menu. The breakfast wasn't outstanding, but acceptable. It's clearly overpriced, and there is no alternative breakfast places nearby. The price: not too bad for Amsterdam in early September.

"Average"
hestac2015, 17 Septembre 2019

I found that not many plug in adapter in the room and also the bed sheet and the towel is very dirty. In the second day when I back to the room, I noticed that one window was open and the second hand smoke coming from the outside and I call the front desk close the window, they ask me close by our self. If I can close it then I will do it!! Yes, the location is close to the tram station. Overall is average.

"Outside of Amsterdam center "
Cychefs, 16 Septembre 2019

Just 20 minutes from the city center but very easy to use the trams. Tram station very closed. The neighborhood is clean, safe and quiet. Hotel needs a very strong management. Two days our room was not clean, the bar service is very unprofessional, breakfast is expensive 11.50 euro (100 meters there is Lidl). Rooms are ok but wc are need renovation. Bathroom amenities very limited and cheap quality. Lobby area is badly designed but this is an opinion. Reception staff very friendly and helpful. Please create nice garden area outside to yards, easily can be a modern, nice and interesting hotel.

"Very comfortable but basic"
Mike F, 09 Septembre 2019

The hotel is about 5kms from the centre of Amsterdam, a 5 minute walk from the no. 2 tram which takes you into the city centre. The hotel is modern and the room was a good size with a comfortable bed. There is no aircon and when we arrived the room was very hot. There is a window you can open but it took 24 hours for the room to cool down despite the weather outside being cool. There is no tea or coffee making in the room and the hotel facilities are basic. There is a continental breakfast which is expensive so we did not take it. A good feature of the location is that there is a shopping centre close by just the other side of the highway where you can buy pastries very cheap in a supermarket.

"Very happy "
vhotv, 07 Septembre 2019

Coming to this hotel was terrifying, as other reviews suggested there was something seriously wrong with this place. Despite all that, it's a great hotel. It's quiet enough, the rooms are great, very clean and tidy. Keep in mind, there is no kettle in the room, but there is a shop 2 minutes away, which sells them for 5 euro each. There is also a wonderful buffet breakfast every morning for 12 euro(?). However, if you want some cheap food, there's a Lidl right round the corner! The bike renting service was nice and efficient as well, they let us choose the bike we want. However, you have to put down 50 euro deposit, and I would recommend putting it in cash, as the card deposit does take a month to go back into the account, although they did warn us of it. Overall, very impressed!! Great hotel

"Clean and cozy"
kims936, 04 Septembre 2019

Beds slept well. Room was clean but very tiny!!! We felt safe and shuttle to the airport was convenient. The biggest concern was the recent talk of bags being taken from the breakfast area. However we know we can deal with issues at any location or time. Nothing to complaint about but nothing really to brag about either.

"Nice location, great facility"
anthonyandanna, 30 Août 2019

This hotel was redone. It is almost brand new. It was one tram (#2) from downtown amsterdam to our hotel. The beds were incredibly comfortable. The people in the room above us had children that were running alot and made alot of noise and the staff spoke with them but they did not listen. The staff were courteous and helpful. I will definitely stay here again.

"Good base for Amsterdam "
Travel53616440, 20 Août 2019

Booked this hotel as it offered the best price for my two nights in Amsterdam. After reading previous reviews stating that the hotel had a mice problem, I was terrified. The hotel bar and reception is very clean and modern. My room was basic, but clean and comfortable. The beds were extremely comfy and the shower was hot and powerful. I can confirm that throughout my two night stay at this hotel I DID NOT come across any mice - within the hotel or in my room. The hotel is about a 5/10 minute walk to the nearest metro station. The metro takes about 15 minutes to go to the centre of Amsterdam. There is also a Lidl around the corner from the hotel which is handy. I didn't eat breakfast at the hotel so can't comment on that. All the staff I came across were helpful. Overall this is a good base for visiting Amsterdam. I'm not quite sure where all the negative reviews come from.

"Overpriced "
kurti5, 16 Août 2019

For 2 nights room only, we paid just over £170, I was expecting for that price something worth that amount but after visiting there I really can't understand how they can justify charging so much. On arrival we had travelled by metro from the Centraal Station, after reading the description before booking I expected it to be much closer to the metro but it actually wasn't that close at all and it was quite tiring having to walk with our bags in the pouring rain. At reception we checked in and we were allocated a room on the ground floor, on entering the room I was left shocked and extremely annoyed to find we had a room facing a brick wall, no where during booking was I informed about their rooms having no view, it was pointless even having a window. I immediately returned to reception and requested we be moved as there was no way I was paying that amount to stay in a room like that. The receptionist used the excuse that I should have made a request during the booking for a room with a view. Well my reply to that is you should state very clearly that a big portion of your rooms are either located inside with windows facing the corridors or rooms looking out on to brick walls. For around £85 a night, I don't expect to be placed in such a room. Maybe you should do what every other hotel does with rooms similar and sell them as economy rooms at a reduced cost. After the lecture from the receptionist we were allocated a different room with a view of the fire station. The room was basic, no tea, coffee or a kettle, instead they expect you to pay for that downstairs from either a vending machine or from the bar/restaurant. The hotel is located directly beneath the flight path for Schiphol Airport so the constant noice of planes flying overhead can get quite annoying. Also we were visiting on a weekend when the weather was great, temperatures were averaging around 22 degrees with regular rainfall and yet the room temperature felt like we were staying somewhere with an outside temperature above 30 degrees. There was a small fan in the room but we left that on all day while we were out and when we returned it hadn't made much difference to the room temperature. The bathroom in our room was poorly designed, whenever we had a shower the water would spread out towards the toilet as the shower floor is on the same level as the rest of the bathroom with nothing to prevent water from spreading all over the rest of the bathroom. On our first morning we looked if there was any nearby places to get breakfast but we couldn't find anywhere other than places we would have to catch the tram to or go on a lengthy walk to so we decided to have breakfast at the hotel. At €11.50 per person I thought the breakfast was a joke, i would have happily paid around €7 for it, but anymore is just a ripoff. For that amount I'd expect a vegetarian option such as veggie sausages but they don't offer that, so I was left eating scrambled egg on toast with cheese and beans. Anyone planning a visit within the next 12 months needs to be aware that there's a huge building site with construction occurring on weekdays, on the Sunday morning we were ok but on the Monday the noice was quite bad especially due to the windows not being great at keeping noice out, so we had the annoyance of low flying planes as well as banging and drilling from the construction work next door. Best Western needs to look into their pricing and offer something which is better value for money, for the price we paid per night we should have had our breakfast included and the rooms with no view need to be sold as economy rooms as it's unacceptable to list them as anything else. I doubt very much I will be returning to this hotel in the future, I've stayed in much better in Amsterdam in the past for less money.

"A good solution not too far away from the city centre"
Giulia P, 15 Août 2019

When we booked this place I was afraid it was going to be too far away from the center to allow us to enjoy our holiday, but fortunately I was wrong: the center of Amsterdam is 15 minutes away with tram number 2, which runs quite often during the day. At night, a bus runs every hour and allows to reach the hotel without having to walk/call a taxi. The rooms were quiet and clean, and the towels were changed daily (I guess it is pretty much standard with big hotel franchises such as Best Western), people from the staff were helpful.

"Honestly don't see what the fuss is about "
U7388MP, 06 Août 2019

We travelled as a group of 4. After reading the reviews on trip advisor we were all extremely worried about where we were staying! The reception and corridors were clean, the room was extremely clean with perfectly working air con and I must say the beds were probably one of the most comfy Iv slept in. A safe was provided and our sleep wasn't disturbed once, there was also a fridge in the room which kept our water and drinks very cold. The only things we had a slight problem was some staff are a little on the rude side however I think some of it is a language barrier, and there was no outdoor lights near the seating area which could easily be sorted. There are two supermarkets close by which is really handy to get breakfast etc and the trams are very easy to catch to and from the centre. P.s Not a single mouse in sight In the rooms !!

"Place was quiet and comfortable "
Lredman, 30 Juillet 2019

While it's away from the main old city it was easily accessible by 20-30 min tram ride with tram stop only 2-3 minutes walk away. There are many eating places within 10 minute walk and although the highway was right outside our room it was very quiet at night with double glazing. There was no kettle in room for a cup of tea or coffee and we did miss this. Room was a good size and bed was big as well. There was an issue at checkin they were wanting us to pay extra euros saying we had only booked for one but I showed them my printed confirmation which clearly stated two adults after much discussion we didn't end up paying but wasn't a great first experience.

"Worst stay of my life"
Mariam M, 29 Juillet 2019

The worst hotel I've stayed in by far and this is coming from a person who stays in hotels month in month out. Would much rather have stayed in a 1 start hotel than this cess pit of a hotel. If you want to be spoken to in a condescending manner and be made to feel like you are the faeces on the bottom of the staffs shoes then go ahead, be there guest quite literally. Never in my life have I met such rude people. Hospitality and manners cost nothing but clearly for this hotel they cost a lot because they are conniving instead of compensating for an indecent nights sleep due to the fire alarm going off continuously we were asked to leave the property as soon as we tried to address this. In other words we were kicked out on the streets of Amsterdam as the manager said he saw the so called 'harassment video' that took place at 4 o clock in the morning. This is two 5ft girls apparently harassing a 6ft man. Says a lot about his character. The argument was a two way thing amongst other visitors and we were practically caught in the crossfire and just merely wanted a chat to see what was going to be done. The staff member was swearing at another visitor instead of diffusing the situation. Long story short the hotel may look the part but if even in the slightest something goes wrong for you the staff will get butthurt if its addressed and ruin your stay. Hope this helps, love to be of assistance.

"Horrible experience of welcoming in the room and a very bad reception male associate Named Ace."
PCNANI, 29 Juillet 2019

Never stay in this hotel. Horrible reception staff not at all welcoming...the don't have a smile on their face. I just checked in and my welcoming experience was horrible. The lady who took my check in was pleasant and she explained me that the hotel was a non smoking hotel which I was not aware of and had also put a request for smoking room and on honeymoon. If the hotel was non smoking they should have drop an email to me saying that it was a non smoking hotel then I would have thought of making other arrangements. As soon as we enter the elevator, the glass mirror inside the elevator was broken which looked so ugly and out of standard. This was not the end, as soon as we reached our room floor we saw painter equipment and box next at my room door, on this I thought it was not my room however I was disappointed to know it was my room. We entered the room and found a rubbish paper lying on the floor,it didn't stop here, we found stains on pillow which was very unhygenic, dust was all over writing table, telephone and luggage cabinet. We finally decided that we cannot stay in this unhygenic room. I called the reception from the room and lady picked up. I expressed her all my disappointment about the hotel and requested for room move. I didn't receive any apology or empathy from her but in a rude way she said come to reception with your luggage if you want to change your room. I was shocked with this kind of reply from her. We went down to Reception with our 3 heavy luggage ane met the reception associate by name ACE. I was made to feel by ACE that I was making stories about the hotel because I was not happy to know that the hotel is non smoking and would like to shift to other hotel. He was not at all courteous and apologetic, his attitude was very negative. He didnt tried to resolve the issue. I will not recommend anyone to stay in this filthy hotel. My honeymoon experience has been spoiled. Please see the pictures I have attached.

"The worst "
DannaF33, 25 Juillet 2019

There was no AC and in the room you couldn't breathe, it was that hot. We had showers during the night so we could sleep. I wouldn't recommend this hotel. And also, we saw a mouse walking like it was no problem. A big NO.

"Will stay somewhere else next time"
blondey28, 06 Juillet 2019

We stayed here for a week at this hotel and we wouldnt stay again as where the hotel is located and your trying to sleep you can hear the airplans taking off so it rattles the air con also the hotel is no where near the centre of Amsterdam so you have to pay for the tram everytime. Where the hotel is there is a supermarket around the corner which there are homeless people asking you for money we were asked 3 times. So in the end we ended up going to another supermarket in the centre of Amsterdam. But even though we wouldnt stay again the staff wasnt too bad there

"Nice and neat"
RaunoEst, 02 Juillet 2019

It was pleasant stay in Best Western Hotel. Rooms were clean, spacious and had a fridge (which I really liked). Plus was that I could rent a bike (although price was very high). Minus is that hotel do not offer early check in and there's no view from the window because of the location.

"You get what you pay for.."
KaylaEGG, 02 Juillet 2019

Honestly, this place is a little misleading. Now where on here does it say there is or isn't air conditioners. 2 out of the 6 rooms I booked did not have air conditioned rooms. They didn't even provide us with a fan for comfort. Also with the house keeping nothing was really clean appropriately. We ran into some issues with some of the night front desk as well. A few of us were hanging out on one of our rooms and the front desk employee came raging to the door, but not politely asking us to be quiet he continued to call us disgusting and a few other things that I'd rather not say on here. You get what you pay for. If you're looking to stay somewhere else in the summer do it! You'll save money on taxis and Uber's with the more you pay at a closer hotel. At least you will have Aircon and friendly staff!

"Robbery"
mabave, 01 Juillet 2019

Titulo de la review: Avoid. Worst costumer service ever! Mensaje: My name is Antonio. Me and some friends stayed at the hotel in Voorburgstraat from 20th until 24th in Room 126. I felt deeply upset with many things that happened during our stay. First of all, the mattresses were really uncomfortable, all of the 3 beds. We could easily fall out of the bed because the middle of it was convex shaped. Lastly, and most important, the room-service staff stole 40€ from by bag pocket, there were actually 19 coins (only 2 euro coins I was collecting for my son). This was obviously intentional and it happened yesterday at some point between 12:30 pm and 2am. We were really disappointed with the whole situation and because we wanted to deal within both parties we emailed them and never had a reply. This is by far the worst costumer service I ever experience in an hotel. Please avoid further dissapointment and go to any other hotel. Antonio

"Ok for short stay"
smithy10smithy, 01 Juillet 2019

Just back from a weekend in this hotel. This hotel was excellently priced and was clean and comfortable. Good shower. Good size rooms. The tram line was within easy walking distance and only about 10 mins from city centre. The staff were very helpful and cheerful. Breakfast was ok at €11.50 according to some of our party. I didn't try it so I can only take their word for it. All in all I reckon that you would be hard pushed to find anything as good as this in Amsterdam for the price.

"I'm not sure what people are complaining about!"
emmalnor91, 01 Juillet 2019

I genuinely cannot believe some of the reviews about this hotel - for the price, you really cannot complain in Amsterdam! The tram is about a five to ten minute walk away along a nice canal and you can be in the centre in 20-25 minutes. Upon our arrival, it was 32 degrees and we were upgraded to a room with air conditioning at no extra cost which was a nice touch, especially when it was for my Mum's birthday trip. The rooms themselves are extremely spacious and the beds are huge and very comfortable, while the bathrooms are absolutely fine for two people with a decent sized shower. Cleanliness was top notch, while we got fresh towels every day of our three-night stay. I will happily stay here again on future trips to Amsterdam!

"Very nice room and good sleep."
S9390PPalexa, 13 Juin 2019

I had booked this hotel as it was good price and accommodates all 4 of us in one room. We got to the hotel early as check in is at 3pm we had arrived in morning but the staff were friendly and let us check in straight away. We had a spacious room with 4 single beds, mini fridge, safe, TV, plenty of electrical sockets and air con! Shower room was welcoming too. I think the hotel has been recently refurbished as everything looked brand new. Stayed for 1 night but was a good nights sleep and no problems. only minor issue would be shower can be very hot, and with everything given it be nice to have had tea/coffee facilities in the room. That aside it is a nice hotel with a short walk to metro which is around 20mins towards centraal station. I recommend this as it is reasonable location and only 50 quid a night!

"MICE!!!"
AmyCoral1, 06 Juin 2019

Myself and my cousins experience in the west side inn was not a pleasant experience or a relaxing escape away. Firstly we arrived and noticed we had no kettle, tea and coffee etc, the hotel had a vending machine but why should we have to pay for tea and coffee, it should be complimentary, I've never been to a hotel that doesn't supply this. After a long days site seeing in Amsterdam we came back to the hotel with hotel workers slamming the ‘private room' doors throughout the night which was next to our bedroom, coursing us to get no sleep. Along with this we had a unexpected arrival of mice in our room, with them eating through wrappers to get to food that we had left on the table. When confronting the hotel receptionist about this he explained that ‘it happens, you're in Amsterdam.' When I asked if he was going to do anything about it he said no. The worst part about it was that we were staying opposite the hotel kitchen..... I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. I'll

"Lack of the most basic supplies!"
CMCL2438, 05 Juin 2019

We experienced many NO's in this hotel room: No electric kettle (so you can't even make a cuppa) No teabags/coffee sachets/sugar (even bed and breakfast at £45/night gives you plenty of this) No glasses/spoons/plates - they asked you to borrow from the restaurant, but the restaurant staff gives you a long face No multi-adaptor - borrowing one from Receptionist need 10 euro deposit in Cash, don't accept debit card, don't take £. No door for the shower. No recess sink for the shower. Water all splashed out to the entire washroom. The designer of this bathroom aims at depriving guests of a comfortable shower. No currency exchange service - they asked you to go to Central Station in Town which is 30 minutes away by walk and tram. Recharge phone use usb via TV which makes it so slow. And you have to keep TV on for hours just for charging your phone. Pillow are squarish so your head keeps dropping to the side, that affects the quality of your sleep. Bed too soft. The most sagging be I've ever had in a hotel. What you get is noise. The flush is soooo noisy. The cleaner's trolley, next door (or upper/lower floors flushing and showering. You hear it all. Hotel staff not too friendly. Ready to say no. I give this hotel a 3-star because 1. The room is quite spacious. Our room looks on to the street with trees and nice buildings. But I think many other rooms of this hotel looks onto the corridor which gives you no air flow. 2. The lobby is nice, many seats for you to meet a friend or do some reading. 3. There are two supermarkets nearby that makes life somewhat easier for our stay. 4. Location of the hotel is not too bad. A short walk to the tram which takes you directly to Town.

"Brilliant"
CassidyHill49, 30 Mai 2019

My partner and I found this hotel much better than what some of the other reviews have said! The staff are so friendly and helpful and it is located so close to tram stops. We rented bikes from the hotel at a reasonable cost and brought a 2 day public transport ticket there too. Our room was spacious, clean and the bed was super comfy. Wouldn't recommend the breakfast as it's pricey for what you actually get from it but other than that, a brilliant stay.

"Did not enjoy! Fooled with Miles & More"
QM-FOM, 24 Mai 2019

I was there for two nights only, and I am happy about it. First of all you do not receive any number/tag for your luggage when you leave it next to the reception (because the room wasn‘t ready, which is fine because we were there too early) and everybody can get into the luggage room and take whatever he likes. The room was not soundproof at all. There is a gap between the door and the floor of 6cm, so you can hear everything from the corridor. When I got in, I was trying to close the windows since there was so much sound from the highway and the parking, when I found out that all the windows were closed! On my arrival I forgot my phone charger, so I called the receptionist (it was around 10pm, man had an arabic accent) and he told me that he doesn‘t have any charger. Next morning I went to the reception and I asked the receptionist is he had a phone charger. He turned around once, opened the shelf and voila - there were about 5 or more chargers, all he asked for was a deposit of 10€ which is totally fine. But the receptionist who told me that there was no charger was just too lazy. Long queues at breakfast, staff was slow. Breakfast was bad. Most important thing for Best Western: I wanted to add my miles and more to my reservation, since Best Western is a partner. The receptionist refused to do so, because I haven‘t booked the Best Western, but the West Side Inn??? What? I therefore want to have a contact who will solve the solution with the miles for me! Never again, wouldn‘t recommend to anybody.

"Perfect hotel for a tourism holiday"
ALee2807, 23 Mai 2019

I was a bit concerned when reading reviews on this hotel after I had already booked to stay here but after staying here with my boyfriend for 3 nights I couldn't see what the problem was. The room was spacious and clean and the staff were very friendly. I was also worried about the distance from the airport and the city centre the hotel was. We got an uber to and from the airport and it cost 20 euros each time. We were able to buy a 3 day public transport ticket at the front desk in the reception for 19 euros each. This was a ticket that could be used as many times to what ever destination we wanted over 3 days. We only used in on the tram but I think it can be used for buses and trains as well. The closest tram stop was a 5 minute walk from the hotel and the person at the front desk gave us an easy map to follow to get there. We travelled into city centre every day and just had to get the number 2 tram which took 30 minutes, there was a tram every 8 minutes so there was never any rushing or waiting around for them. I'd say the only downside to the hotel was the surrounding area and the fact that the view from our room was of the motorway. However this didn't bother us really as we were out during the day and only in the hotel at night. Overall Id say that it was a very good hotel for anyone planning a holiday purely for tourism, even though its 30 minutes away from city centre its very easy to travel to and from and was a very good price for the quality of the rooms.

"Conveniently located between the city & airport"
Roaming_user, 18 Mai 2019

The hotel is relatively easy to access and near the motor way. The room size is decent and clean. The bathroom is clean but doesn't have clothes hanger nor enough shelving in my opinion. There is a safe in the room but in mine it was not attached to anything so kind of useless as someone could simply leave with the small safe and bother with opening it later. Soundproofing is not that great so you can hear people in the corridor and other rooms. Parking is fenced but not free like some reservation sites will pretend... The wifi is free but it is probably the slowest wifi on earth so you get what you pay for. It would be great if they also had a gym but they don't. They have buffet-style breakfast offered for an extra.

"Horrible"
x6x, 10 Mai 2019

Horrible area, horrible hotel. I called the hotel for information on how to get here from the airport and was told incorrect information. How can the staff get that wrong? On the walk here which was double the time advised someone tried to sell me drugs. It's that sort of a run down area. Rooms are noisy with pipes and doors slamming. Horrible view, I attach a picture. If it was £50 a night then it would be worth it, but not for this money! Not worth the money at all. For your own sake stay elsewhere.

"Hotel"
afeng2018, 08 Mai 2019

The hotel isn't appealing from the outside but has very good sized bedrooms for Amsterdam. Breakfast is very good. The hotel is very close to both the tram and metro; this makes it very easy to get around Amsterdam. If you visit Amsterdam, make sure you buy the 72 hour ticket for transport as this can be used on all transport (bus, metro and tram in Amsterdam). It can be purchased at the hotel for €19. Staff were very helpful in assisting us with travelling outside Amsterdam, giving us printed details for transport and directions to our location.

"Clean and Nice "
Vestergaardss, 04 Mai 2019

The hotel is newly renovated with clean and nice rooms, just as the lobby. The staff is very friendly and will answer any questions you have got. Only downside is that the walls are very thin so you can hear out in the corridor easily. Almost all the pictures and reviews (except the most recent ones)on here are from before the renovation - and it looks nothing like that anymore.

"Mice! Mice!"
kristybang, 21 Avril 2019

Mice! Mice in our room. The staffs weren't shocked when we told about the problem. They said “it happens!.” We had to change room every night. No adequate response from the management. The duty manager promised that the customer service will contact us within 3 days, but still no contact from them.

"Good one to stay for a few nights"
monikaMam, 14 Avril 2019

It's a nice hotel which is not exactly in the city center, but you can get there by tram within about 20 minutes, also the tram stop is not far away from the hotel. It was clean, nice staff, easy to reach to airport, however at the time of my stay some works were hapening around-mostly drilling, which is quite annoying, but didn't happen over night, so it was ok too.

"Nice"
Ρεβεκκα Τ, 07 Avril 2019

The hotel was pretty nice . The room was clean and we had made services everyday . There is a super market 3 minutes from hotel and tram stop 5-7 minutes . The city centre is like 15-20 minutes with tram .

"Good hotel"
Gracequi, 07 Avril 2019

Good and even if not in the center it is near to tram and metro to reach all the best places in Amsterdam. Nice and clean room. Very good breakfast and dinner. Economic prices. We will return as soon as possible

"West Side Inn, a good place to rest in Amsterdam"
quimgalan, 01 Avril 2019

Quiet neighborhood and excellent connecions with city centrum (about 20 minutes taking tram line 2). Complete buffet free breakfast by only 10 euros per person. Supermarkets, bars and restaurants also nearby, if you prefer alternatives.
