Best Western Hotel Santa Caterina

I never imagined that Best Western was in Sicily nor that it would be situated with a great view of the sea, a good restaurant, helpful staff and decent sized rooms (for a European hotel). Best Western hotels could learn from their European properties.

Used the hotel to attend a family wedding. Very disappointed in overhaul quality and or overhaul service, don't rely on photos on web site. Extremly difficult to access hotel and not suitable for disabled clients. Taxi needed to and from hotel to travel down town and expensive. seems to be used for wedding venue reception close by.... On a positive, grounds and outside pool very well maintained.

When you hear the name Best Western, it definitely doesn't peak your senses for authentic Sicilian resort with an amazing restaurant option. However, this hotel was an incredibly pleasant surprise. We stayed here as a stopover for the drive from Catania to Taormina as we arrived fairly late and where just looking for a place to get some rest and a bite to eat. The hotel room was small but extremely comfortable with very helpful staff. However, what truly took the cake was the super restaurant, full of locals. I would definitely make a point to stay here again and eat here several times! The seafood was incredible, especially the cold seafood starter, the pasta was succulent and the pizza extraordinary. It is a short walk to the nearby town which is beautiful in itself, and if you happen to like motorcycles, there is a Ducati and a Harley Davidson dealer a few minutes' walk away!

We had a room overlooking the ocean and could not have been more pleased! The sunrise view every morning was amazing! Our room was immaculate and spacious... we had a junior suite. No complaints. It had an extra single bed, so it would have been a good family room, too. The bathroom was also spacious and had a whirlpool as well as bathrobes and slippers. The hotel itself is located beween a busy street in the front and train tracks behind it. When the windows were closed, we hardly noticed any noise. Breakfast was delicious and there was plenty to choose from. I am vegetarian and had no problems finding enough to eat. I really enjoyed the scrambled eggs, the fresh fruit, tomatoes and cucumber and Sicilian sweet specialties. And pizza. :) The view from the breakfast room was also towards the ocean. Was beautiful. The Aquadelferro restaurant in the hotel... I can really recommend it for dinner. I never had a better tasting pizza from any other Italian restaurant. The dough is soooooo delicious and I ate the "Il Tocco" as a vegetarian choice. Would I stay here again if I came back to this area of Sicily? Most definitely! We really enjoyed our stay. :D

Room clean. Great staff and location. The swimming pool is nice and take drinks there was super relaxing because you could have also a great view to the sea. I liked also goe the hotel looked like because seemed more an house. Near that a great restaurant

Brilliant hotel, with the location being in a lovely traditional town. I would recommend having a car as the public transport isn't the most reliable and cabs are VERY expensive for a short distance. Regarding the staff, they were very accommodating, a special mention for Virginia who went above and beyond and was very lovely overall. 100% would recommend this hotel, and the hotels restaurant served beautiful traditional Sicilian cuisine.

I traveled with my husband for his work trip . At first I was not expecting much from the best western chain .in Sicily it's different very clean . Breakfast attendants very attentive . Sicily is dry and a little tired after much of its history that being said it's gorgeous and people are friendly if you try to communicate . Everyone from front desk to , housekeeping , restaurant front of the house persons so helpful . We were there for week and half . Pool wonderful , views from hotel entrance and side of pool amazing , overlooks the sea . Easy uphill walk to town . Grocery store nearby .Main expressway nearby . Great a/c . If you are unlucky to get one of those rooms situated under the restaurant / terrasse / bar, then be ready to wake up in the middle of the night by the noise of the personnel moving the tables and the chairs. It is a pity because the rooms are nice and clean. But horrible service and hotel staff do not care at all about clients comfort, for them 2 in the morning is the moment to move chairs and tables in the terrasse and make their restaurant ready for the day after. It was not a relaxing stay !!!

Great little hotel with easy access to a main road. Food was excellent, the staff was helpful and spoke English very well, view was amazing (watched every sunrise over the water!). Be aware fellow Americans: pillows are very hard, A/C availability is seasonal and room is tiny. Very, very clean room and facilities. Parking lot is also tiny and on a steep incline. Never had a problem getting a spot though.

I have no words in how the treat people. Thinking with you as a customer... NO WAY! Flexibel... NO WAY! I had a horrible stay... the room was dirty and the woman at the reception was no help at all... She was rude and even disconnected the call. Hell no I'm staying here ever again! The sell 1 star service for four star price.

Once you can find the hotel, it's a great base to explore the north-west coast and Etna. Restaurant was heaving on Saturday night but empty on Monday; good food but not outstanding. Breakfast was the best we had in a week in Sicily, by a street!

We stayed at this four star hotel on the 3rd and 4th of January 2020.Its a clean and nice hotel.Lovely staff. A very good buffet breakfast is served daily in the breakfast area .There's a beautiful view,& dinner at the restaurant was good as well. When booking ask what your room view would be like since when booking it was stated that many of the hotel rooms have sea-view,ours didn't,but we didn't make a special request for it,so its our loss. Only one small thing that We didn't like.Our room seemed to be equipped with equipment for elderly or people with other needs.(Toilet and Shower). We would have preferred a regular room since we didn't ask for it,unless all rooms are that way ofcourse. Re :Location- Its in a very good location as well..Central to all ameneties. We had a great stay, even though hotel between the rail line and main road. It was very comfortable, clean and quiet. A bit of a walk to restaurants, as up hill, but still only a 10 to 15 minutes walk. You do need a car to get around, it's a great place to stay for visiting Mt Etna etc. The staff are very helpful, also a great breakfast with a fantastic view. Thank you

We had picked this hotel as a stopover in our way to Taormina after a evening arrival into Catania as it had a restaurant that was meant to be good. Overall, our stay for the one night was underwhelming. The rooms were quite old and tired, staff on arrival were lukewarm and well waking up to there being no hot water for a shower is never ideal. The restaurant was fine - starters were the highlight with our main courses (pasta) being disappointing. The staff at the restaurant had to be waved over three times before being available to serve us. The breakfast in the morning was adequate - the most friendly staff of our whole stay were the nice breakfast ladies. We weren't there long enough to experience the pool or other amenities - so look to other reviews for this. Overall, this hotel definitely did not live up to expectations. I would stay somewhere else for a one night stay next time.

Wedged between the railway line and the motorway, which we'd missed somehow! But having said that the room was quiet and comfortable. There is a lovely pool. Unfortunately our shower flooded the bathroom floor despite trying to be careful - poor design. Breakfast coffee was the biggest surprise - only sachets of Nescafe were offered!!!! In Sicily??!! Come on guys!

Nice view on the Mediterranean but that's it. Put your valuables in the safe, even if your are still in the hotel. First day during breakfast, 100€ stolen in the room, and the reaction of the staff was disappointing.

In some ways the Santa Caterina Hotel didn't look like the best option as base for a Sicilian holiday, given the location between the main road and the railway line a little out of town in Acireale which is not top of the list of destinations on the island. However, we had an excellent time and were very satisfied. Of particular note: the very pleasant dining area with great views across the sea from large terraces and a comfortable sitting room; the very good breakfast with fresh juice, bio eggs, choice of cereals, etc.; a delightful swimming pool in a small garden with sun beds and views. Our room was a bit small but with a very comfortable bed, a desk and a well-equipped bathroom. Cleaning services were very good and in general the staff at the hotel were smiling and helpful. We ate three meals at the excellent restaurant. The hotel is a 15 minute walk from the center of town and 20 minutes from the railway station, so we didn't need to hire a car and got lots of exercise as we went on day trips to Taormina, Catania and Siracusa. All in all, highly recommended for a slow and un-stressful holiday.
