Best Western Lake Oswego/Portland Hotel & Suites

Struggling hotel with very poor or untrained staff. The new GM has no obvious customer service skills or professionalism whos only line is "We are under new management, things have changed". Staff unable to make reservations over phone due to lack of training. Called 4 times to book a 3 night stay, first call no answer, second the guy could not get the computer to work, the third he said he could not log in but to come in they had vacancy. At desk check in I was informed my BW Account would not qualify for current promo 2 night get 1 and I would not get points , booked 3 nights and they carged my CC. Prepaid the 3 nights and a deposit. On our check out day I called down to the front desk to extend our stay due to a medical situation. The man on phone then told me he did not know if we were alowed to stay another night and he would need to call us back. About 30 min later the phone rings and the front desk worker demands we come down with another CC. We asked him to use the card on file as we have always done any extension that way previously. He said no I needed to come down to the desk to slide my new card or check out. When arriving at the front desk I was greated by a very young man in street clothes, I asked to speak to the manager and the rude man who I had been speaking to was him the GM. He said it was his first day and they were under new managment and if I did not like it to check out. Not being able to physically travel I had very little options but to comply to his request. He was completely unwilling to bill it to the CC on file regardless of its credit limit or it being my business CC. His demand of an addition credit card when extending our stay by a night due to my illness left me feeling like a criminal accused of stealing my own Easter Vacation with my family. About the property Beautiful rooms newly remodeled and 7.5 out of 10 clean. Facilities are broken and/or worn down, elevator is wonky and stalls, the hot tub is ice cold or boiling hot, the pool is freezing cold, and the towels are missing and piled high in the dirty bin. The basement is filthy with stuff stacked all over the hall ways. Guest washer and dryer are usable, cheap, but from the 80's when the hotel was originally built. The laundry room was filthy and garbage overflowing all over the room. Breakfast is a joke, waterdowned juice, stale breads, generic fake spreds, poor produce and no fruit, very few items, cold egg patties, dry decimated beacon, and what may have been fried potatos were all cold and gross, coffee empty , no hot water, no milk. Not a value just words, skip it go through a drive through. I have stayed at this hotel 5 times all multiple night stays due to its convenience to the business I have in the city totally 14 nights and ibalways have my kids and husband in tow. We are very understanding and patient people but we will NEVER EVER STAY AT THIS HOTEL AGAIN! GIVEN THE COMPETITION IN THE LOCAL MARKET CHOOSE ANOTHER HOTEL.

An unplanned overnight for me, this BW was convenient. Only downside I would say is parking. Not a lot of space around this hotel, but no complaints anywhere else. Room seemed freshly remodeled and clean, comfy bed and pillows. Shower good. Hotel coffee is what it is. Walls may be a tad thin but I slept good.

Bryan on night audit was the best! He went above and beyond to make our stay great. He helped get us extended a night. When I left the car running, he found us and got it taken care of fast. Thank you Bryan! I'll return to that property because of you.

This has been a very pleasant experience and surprisingly comfortable stay overall. In my line of work dealing with the other people's problems takes a lot of me. Coming back to an almost home like environment is so comforting.

I travel every year to Portland for my birthday to see my grandchildren. This time I traveled with my youngest son and we stayed twice at a best western. It was a great experience with a wonderful staff.

Nice staff, affordable and accommodating. Nice rooms , comfortable beds and pet friendly. I would stay here again.Safe area close to restaurants, coffee, gas and other businesses. Parking lot was a little tight and small but manageable.

Manager on duty competent & helpful. Beautiful King Suite with very special bed, reasonably priced & dog friendly. Had refrigerator, coffee & tea included. Felt comfortable & safe. Extra blankets provided. Great breakfast & snack bar. Military discount applied. Lost power during storm, this was a nice warm island in a sea of coldness.

There was nothing "Plus" about this room, although bedding, mattress and heat were excellent. Like many in the hotel, we were there because the temperatures in the house were approaching the freezing temperatures outside. The small gym: like much of the property, shabby. There were some paper towels and a couple of bottles of water, but no way to clean equipment, not one clean towel, and the treadmills made loud and crunching noises. A clean gym towel or some cleaning product would have made it adequate. The pool looked great, as did the jacuzzi, but pool towels were not available, even after requesting them. Breakfast: This was up to standard. Although these hotel chains don't do anything spectacular, they do provide a considerable variety of food choices, and there is something to match everyone's taste. Moreover, this dining area offers normal seating and high tables for those who prefer them. A (probably expensive) lobby sign notes that guests should be kind to the employees who could show up to work. There were definitely few employees, and the woman who worked all of our day of arrival was trapped interminably by a lonely guest who poured their heart out about some personal problem as I waited a chance to ask for a gym towel. Coincidentally, on check-out, the cheerful morning employee was cornered by a guest in front of me, checking out while telling the story of the stay and details of the cat that accompanied them. Maybe the management could just hire more workers to avoid weak service during unanticipated urgencies such as the weather that drove us to this property. Lower profits, yes, but higher ratings!

It was very good experience staying at Best Western. Clean and quiet hotel. Portland downtown 15 minutes drive from hotel. Breakfast was awesome, room was clean. Front staff lady was so nice and helpful. I would like stay again.

Our hotel room was really comfortable, newly appointed, great bedding, very clean and quiet - location was super convenient to visiting our family in Lake Oswego, and super convenient to great shopping and restaurants in lake Oswego, as well as convenient to I-5. Every staff person we interacted with were kind, helpful and patient. Pool, hot tub and gym were functional, a big plus!

The front desk staff were all so smiling and friendly and eager to be helpful. They gave a friendly greeting when everI passed through the lobby. The water pressure in the shower was amazing, I really enjoyed showering after a delicious breakfast. The cable offered in the room was vast with so many channels to choose from, we relaxed and watched some movies. We had such a relaxing, peaceful and enjoyable stay; Thank you very much we had a great time it went by way too fast.

My room (single king) ruled. Staff was super polite & helpful & Brian the night clerk was super friendly & made sure my kids had some food before we headed out to the airport at 5 AM for a six hour flight. Thank you Brian!

Terrible experience. On August 7, we booked 2 rooms for 5 people. We booked this location for the pool - of course our kids were were looking forward to swimming. We arrived on August 20 for our stay, and a note was attached to the front desk - pool closed. I asked the employee at the front desk what happened and she mentioned that there were some issues with the pump that happened more than a few weeks ago (I made sure to find out the pool closure started prior to my booking). Here were the choices given: 1) cancel with full refund and find a new hotel room or 2) stay the night. With two kids in tow after a road trip, who has the energy to find a hotel with a pool at a reasonable rate for that evening? No other options were given. Once they knew of the pool closure, Best Western should have listed this on the website at the time of booking. At least, they should have called or sent a mass email about the weeks-long pool closure. This would have given us a reasonable chance to book elsewhere. The next morning, my mother-in-law and I were awake with my youngest kid and we were the first people in for breakfast. The place was filthy. Old food was on the table tops. My mother-in-law let the staff know, and they handed her a washcloth and cleaning spray bottle. Yes, my mother-in-law cleaned the tables. Of note, the only fruit available for breakfast - 5 oranges. My wife came down an hour and a half later with our other kid, and the only thing left for breakfast was waffle batter and oatmeal. I wasn't expecting luxury, but I was expecting a pool and some semblance of cleanliness. I would recommend staying elsewhere.

We arrived in afternoon and found front desk was not staffed. We, along with several others, waited 45 minutes for someone to arrive. Only had one set of towels, and the front desk could not supply more towels. We ended up going our and purchasing towels so we would have enough. The two large trash cans near the entrance were overflowing with trash our entire two day stay. I think the employees were doing their best, however the hotel was understaffed and appeared to be very poorly managed. I certainly will never go here again, and will likely consider totally avoiding Best Western. We travel frequently and have never encountered anything like this. To aggravate the service here, there was a sign that said "The World" was suffering from short staffing and we should just be glad that any employees show up to help us.

We have a clean room and comfortable bed to sleep in. The bathroom is clean, towels, sheet pillows. Thanks for keeping us safe through our stay in your hotel. We have good food for breakfast, gas station is very close to your hotel, restaurants and to i5 which makes it easy for to go where we wants to.
