I don't quite understand why this hotel became a 4 star hotel? At first, we were panicked because there was no place for parkering. We had to find ourselves. The room is very small but expensive, lack facilities, like fridge, or at least drink tea at night. If you just come & go this hotel is ok, staying several nights, I don't think so. Breakfast is ok. At morning, they dont even change our beddings, our room is dirty, messy and also very less facllity for selection.
The hotel was nice however on a business trip not the best. The bathroom has a long window showing full view of the shower & toilet to someone in the bed. Maybe okay if you're a couple however I was sharing with a colleague (thankfully a close friend)! It should have a blind although ours was broken so pretty useless. Also very very small rooms and the sink was outside the bathroom. No fridge or kettle etc. pretty quirky setup but generally too basic. Nice breakfast and views though!
'adult filter' on internet and 18C when you wake up, I just wanted to relax on my off time on my business trip. They should be ashamed. Terrible breakfast, watery scrambled eggs and no coffee. Horrible layout of the breakfast. Terrible all throughout.
Was impressed with river view room and decor. Breakfast was AMAZING. A little too stark at reception if you wanted help - e.g. alternative parking, city questions even how to get to room. But all in all it's a quality stay at really good value hotel, albeit human less.
We stayed here for one night. The Hotel is self check-in. When u arrive theres nobody explaining you where to go, only the PC is here for you. The room was small but had a wonderfull view from the bathroon had a bit of stains. We didnt really know where the breakfast was, but we found it out quickly and it was very good. U can even make yourself waffles. A Big Minus was that we got per Mail an information that theres a parking under the hotel. When we arrived the doors were closed and there were nobody from the hotel to ask. So we searched another Parking Space that was 5 min from the hotel. Beds are comfy but u here everything from the other rooms. We had luck that we were out ouf season, but I imagine in summer its fully packed of party people. The Location is great but we are unsure if we come and visit again this hotel.
We had a wonderful time in Umeå and U&Me hotel. The view from the room took our breath away. The beds are very comfy, we slept so well. Breakfast was perfect as well, in a very cosy indoor courtyard. Good selection of local products which were nice to try! Every staff member we met were super friendly and every inch of the hotel was spotless clean. We recommend to everybody this hotel if they stay in Umeå. Hope to come back one day! :)
A great hotel in the middle of the city, near to everything. Beautiful rooms and great view. Friendly people all over the city. I recommend it to anyone visiting Umeå. A lot of good restaurants, nice walks in the city and by the river.
A strange hotel due to the lack of staff and also lack of a reception. Check in occurs at a couple of desks which are placed outside the public library, very little information about where to go and also only a brief email before arrival. Great view over the river and bridges from the room on the 12th floor but as other people have said, the rooms are a design disaster. The bathroom is too small and putting the sink outside of the bathroom was crazy. The glass shower wall lets the water fall onto the floor and having a glass wall between the shower (which is actually in a bath) and the bedroom is asking for accidents. Only a very small table area for working on, too small in practice. The heating controls did not seem to have any affect on room temperature and also the lighting controls were difficult to use. Definite need for a bigger desk and also shelves/table to put things on. The TV also seemed too small for the size of the room, and below most other hotel TV sizes. Not many TV channels either. Breakfast was equally strange, no waiters/waitresses and self service from a bar (not the bakery as other people mentioned). Even the waffles were self service. Nobody on duty to ask about the breakfast (I wanted decaffeinated coffee but could not ask anybody). So I left with the feeling that the hotel was a design disaster. Strange location above the public library and very strange feeling when there is no reception or reception staff. The views were great over the river but this would not be enough to encourage me back there. Strange feeling in an impersonal hotel without staff.
Nice new hotel in the middle of the centre of Umeå. The view from the upper floors are stunning. Location is great, near evwrything. No reception, chechin and checkout made throug a pad, it worked fine and was easy to use.
Rooms are very small. No place to open a bag. Bathroom is very small, obviously so small that the sink did not fit. Beds are excellent and nice view from the bed, even though our room did not overlook the river. No reception available, but that was ok. Breakfast was limited to the basics, but very good products with excellent taste.
New, functional and trendy hotel with fast check-in and check-out, modern rooms and all necessary amenities. The gym is simple but good, the reception is unstaffed but works well and the rooms are decorated in a very trendy and innovative way with sinks outside of the bathroom. Unless you absolutely want to take a bath, request a room with a shower instead of a bathtub, because the water will flow over to the floor as the shower wall is useless. The breakfast is fine, if you want a higher level one, be sure to book the breakfast at Stora Hotellet separately - it is amazing! Great value in a central setting - I always stay here when visiting Umeå.
What a great surprise: self check-in and check-out. Beautifully designed room, awesome view over Umeå river. Large garage for hotel guests, payment at the adjoining hotel reception. You can also visit the library and enjoy good food on the first floor. Central location in the beautiful town, right next to the river. All the rooms are located on higher floors, so no noise from traffic. I warmly recommend this hotel.
The best: comfy bed, in the cit center, nice view, excellent breakfast. The not so good: Did not really approve of the zink in the bedroom itself, instead of in the bathroom All in all I really enjoyed my stay, will probably stay there again on my next visit
I stayed here for 4 nights and was mesmerised by the river view- far better than watching TV! The room had lots of hooks and nooks for storing things, adequate plugs - it was perfect really. I found it strange that there are no staff - you check in/out via a machine and breakfast is served at the downstairs bakery - it was very good. Good WiFi too.
The breakfast is simple, but the bread is fantastic. Great location in the same building as the library, cafè, bars, flower shop etcetera. Nice view from the room. The check-in is not well-planned. The bathroom was not properly cleaned.
Despite it being owned by a chain it is quirky and has a definite personality. Super nice details in the room including upcoming events sitting in an oldschool typerwriter. View of the River and then ...the breakfast!! Served by the cafe downstairs, charming, freshly baked incredible bread - the hard bread managed to surpass it. Freshly squeezed juices even an energy shot of honey and ginger. Don't missed the hand baked muesli. The cafe/bakery is in the former stables - the breakfast is served in the covered courtyard. Charming.
I spent one night at U&Me and generally liked it. It was a bit hard to find, as it is located inside a massive interior space with other businesses such as florists, restaurants and the library entrance. There is no front desk, just a podium with a few computers. Luckily there was an employee at the podium (who I was told is there in the afternoon and early evening only). After she leaves, there is nobody to assist you. My room was small but nice with fantastic views of the river and was clean with a nice functional bathroom. I wasn't able to adust the temperature in the room and there was nobody around to help me with it. This hotel is located in the same complex as the Stora Hotellet and had many restaurants nearby, as well as a large indoor shopping mall right across the street. The city center is a short five minute walk. Breakfast was terrific with lots of options.
Had a nice view and centrally located, although a bit hard to find because the hotel was in connection to Umeå State Library. Clean, humble staffing, very smooth check-in-process. Not to mention the low pricing, actually beneath the average hotel cost in Umeå. The breakfast would be the only con, definitetly improvable. Overall I had a very good experience and would book U&Me Hotel again.
We had room 801 it looked out onto the river. When you entered and put the key in the card holder the lights turned on and the blinds opened automatically. Very close to everything downtown. 5-10min wall to all the restaurants
The hotel had no staff, everything had to be done digitally on an I-pad, both check-in and check-out. Came when it was dark outside, it was just as dark in the building that had closed stores as well as a closed library. That made me feel vulnerable. I'm used to traveling but have never experienced being vulnerable in any hotel before. I could not ask for a good dinner place, ask them to order a taxi for tomorrow's meeting, since there was nobody to ask. The room had a fancy view of the river. The bath and cranes were black so it was a little hard to tell what was what, otherwise it was clean and nice, the internet was fast. The breakfast was not the best, more like a grab and go.
Great cozy rooms with a nice design and clever solutions. This is a self-service hotel, so you should pay attention while checking-in and out. The only drawback is a poor selection breakfast, which makes lower value for money.
I stayed here for 1 night in August 2018. This is a self service hotel with an unmanned reception. You have to do the check in yourself. If you have not booked a room on BesteWesterns homepage and arrives late it gets a bit difficult to get to your room. First you have to find the intrance to the hotel. It is on the north side of the white building, the sign directing to the hotel entrance is written in very smal letters. When you get to the front door, it is locked. You then have to press the button with a picture of a bell. The person you get in contact with will give you pincode to open the front door with. You then get to the self check-in machine. It requires you to enter your BestWestern reservation number and pincode. You don't have that, because you did not book the room at BestWestern homepage. So now you have to call the service number you can see on the instructions to get your Bestwestern reservation number and pin code. Now you are ready to code your room key. The breakfast is basic and served from a bakery next to the hotel entrance. The room was clean and had a great view over Umeå. The room was quiet and I slept well here.
One of the noisiest hotel rooms I've slept in. Pipes and ventilation make constant noise. AC directs freezing cold air right towards the bed. The bold exterior design means that the blinds don't quite cover the widows, the bed is directly facing the window, and sunlight starts to seep in early in this part of the world.
My stay at the hotel was fantastic. I want to return to this hotel the next time I'm in Umea. I recommend my friends visit the hotel because it is in the heart of the city and has all the facilities. The staff is very friendly and you feel like you are in your own home. In our room the view was wonderful, you could see the whole city and the river Umeå.
Small compact room with amazing beds. The check in is handled by yourself and everything is very modern. Rooms are functional except the decision to put the sink outside of the bathroom. I understand the concept but it is not appreciated. Breakfast down at the bakery in the lobby was somewhat satisfying with a small option to choose from. Great view from the rooms overlooking Umeå.
We took a medium room and didn't quite expect it to be so cramped. Very little storage area within the room. No sink in d bathroom but it's outside. Had no kettle! Breakfast was simple with hardly any variety.
Check-in was bit confusing and the web page is lacking some information. Maybe it's the concept of self-service hotel that bothers but otherwise everything was nice. Rooms were nice and modern, and views were great. Glass windows to toilet were really confusing, and whose idea was to place sinks outside the toilet?? Dumb idea, really. I was leaving the room before my sleeping roommate, and trying to leave quietly was impossible as there was no mirror in the toilet - toothbrushing is surprisingly noisy! The lobby /piazza downstairs is very nice, warm recommendations to Duå Deli and lovely speakeasy bar!
Stayed for a weekend. The rooms facing the river have an amazing view! Especially in winter! The breakfast was sub-par however, cold and lack of warm options. There is an in house library which offers a nice touch.
Modern self-service check in, but easy to do. A clean and compact room which made the most of the views across the river. I asked for a kettle in the room, and it was already there when i checked in. Breakfast was good, and served in the bakery in the atrium. The building also houses the library, womens museum, a couple of restaurants and shops. Location is excellent, near the centre of the city. Our room was quiet. Only negative is the design of the shower screen, which has no seal and the water ends up on the floor.
Loved this pod hotel. Nice details without being too much. Nice bed. Lovely Bath room. Love to big window. Nice placement of chargers. And a special note about the iron hidden in a clever way. The dimmable lights are nice too.
This is a hotel inspired by a visionary but whose team hadn't read all the small print. The check-in is easy with help if you need it (you can also do it on-line) but you have to pay on arrival. Breakfast is included but is rather meagre and self-service. The rooms are fresh with beds situated looking directly out of the window - not sure what this does on the ground floor but on the top floors the views of the sunset are wonderful. There is no telephone in the rooms and the shower is a little bizarre flooding the shower/lavatory room due to a poorly designed glass screen. There is also no minibar (figures since you've already paid). Having said that the rooms are functional and chic. It seems the prices are increasing so not sure how long customers will pay for essentially no service.
The hotel has definetely aimed for a modern and cultural image. The room is different from other business hotels with bed in the middle of the room, sink outside the bathroom and many cool details. The hotel is in a building that also contains restaurants, a library and other things. The reception is a self service desk, if your booking is standard it's no worries but if you arrive late, have troubles or questions you are basically on your own. There is a phone you can use to get assistance but a collegue of mine arrived late and couldn't get in touch with anyone. Your room number is breifly shown on a screen and then e-mailed to you, maybe a problem if you don't have e-mail in your phone. The breakfast was the real low point! For that price I expect a buffé, instead you get something that is just slightly better than an airplane breakfast. Sure you can go for a refill but there wasn't much more than bread, cheese, ham, 2 types youghurt, 2 types cereal, orange juice, boiled eggs, coffe/tea. The location is in the heart of Umeå with shopping, supermarket and restaurants around it. Being a breakfast person I will not book this hotel again.
