Dalecarlia Hotel & Spa, BW Premier Collection

Beautiful location, great atmosphere, and friendly staff. However, the Dalhalla package is far too expensive. We chose a standard room, and it was below expectations in Allegården building. The food was dry, bland, and appeared less than fresh, especially frukost fraller seamed few days old. The post-event sancks were consisting only of old warmed up waffles. Overall, poor value for money.

We had a very pleasant stay, and the view was truly outstanding. To further enhance the overall experience and create a more exclusive impression, I would recommend improvements to the garden—such as a well-designed entrance flowerbed and better maintenance of the trees. At present, some of the trees obstruct the view from the restaurant terrace.

Stayed here from 14–17 May with my family and booked two rooms. One room was for an adult couple and the second for another couple with our 7-year-old child. We made the reservations according to the number of guests in each room. The biggest highlight of this property is definitely the location. The view overlooking Lake Siljan is absolutely beautiful and creates a very relaxing atmosphere. The surroundings are stunning and are one of the main reasons this place stands out. Our experience at check-in was a bit mixed. We were initially assigned room #45 for one couple and room #206 for the family. Since the property is quite large and spread out, we requested rooms in the same building because regularly walking between distant rooms was not very convenient, especially considering the layout and elevation of the property. After entering room #45, we were surprised by how small it felt. The bathroom and overall room size were quite compact, with limited space to move around comfortably. Later, when our family visited from room #206, we noticed a very significant difference in room size. Their room felt much larger, almost twice the size, despite the pricing difference mainly being due to the additional child in the booking. What concerned us was the inconsistency in room expectations. If we had only booked one room and never seen other room types, we probably would have assumed this was standard. More transparency during booking around room sizes or room categories could help guests make more informed decisions and avoid surprises. On a positive note, the reception team handled our concern very professionally. They were kind, understanding, and helped move us to another room in the main building closer to our family, which improved our stay significantly. Overall, the location and customer service were strong positives. Better clarity around room differences would make the experience even better.

Friendly, Welcoming and very lokalt rooted. Fantastic breakfast. Got upgraded, fantastic value!

This hotel is in a superb location and is well designed and appointed. Parking is easy and the reception staff were very helpful and professional. The terrace has superb views over Lake Siljan and is ideal for a pre dinner drink. The only downside is the restaurant. The staff are willing but there is no organisation. The queues to be seated were far too long. The a la carte menu is pricey and the food underwhelming with poor attention to seasoning. The shrimp sandwich served in the bar is a tastier alternative. The breakfast buffet was high in variety but low in quality

The hotel itself has a very nice entrance and reception area with large stairs to the upper floor, looks great and impressive. THEN, after check-in you will find your room in one of the long corridors and the standard is like a cheap hostel. Actually, it feels like the hotel is on its last moments to either be surrended or is waiting for a renovation very soon. The rooms are just cheap and NOT worth the price one pay. Our room clearly had a water damage earlier, could easily be seen on the floor. Air outlet in bathroom not clean, full of dust. THEN, a christmas dinner with too many people, it was just crowded and gave a feeling of "let's push as many as possible into the restaurant to gain most profit". Wine is very expensive here too. Again, rural place where they squeeze profit out of you. AND, if you are aiming for the SPA then be aware of that the spa is 150 meters walk from the hotel with an uphill walk on the way back. Cannot recommend this hotel.

Room with poor cleaning, poor appearance with broken items and furniture. Room really sucks! not even close to be what you pay for. Fee for using the pool also sucks as it's not even close as big as you pay for. To say something positive about the hotel is that the location is adorable! Down the line, it's the worst room I've ever stayed in a Best Western hotel.

The Hotel is well maintained both inside and out. The is a lot of dark wood paneling and nice public rooms. It is worthwhile to pay extra for a room with a view of Lake Siljan. Breakfast was excellent. The only minor downsides are the shower water pressure is low in AM amd bathroom floor could have been cleaned better

Outstanding best hotell in Dalarna Nice Spa and the bedds are nice Take a stroel round the area and get ameist off the evirement. The food at the resturant is super. Remember you have free coffy in the lobby 24 hours a day As in say The best Hotel in Dalarna

Sometimes you just need to get away and to relax all by your self. This has been a perfect stay with good food, good service and an excellent time in the Spa. Love being able to sit in the hot tub outside with snow all around. Will suggested a good wine to suit my dinner, many thanks.

We stayed in room 203 in main hotel just above reception. PROS Good location as we had the living room/sofas next door (however this was a complimentary upgrade… not sure what type of room this was otherwise). Radiator on a timer in bathroom to dry clothes. Coffee and water station available at all times of day for free. Breakfast was tasty and offered a good variety. Fantastic gym - free to use. Nice spa and pool area. CONS You have to pay to use the pool and spa (apparently this is standard in Sweden?!) and you've got a 3 hour slot, presumably to avoid crowds, however when we went in the afternoons the 5 hot tubs were basically all full so we had to choose our timings right. If you're looking for a really relaxing spa, this may not be the place for you… for the amount of people that are using the hot tubs and saunas etc there just aren't enough relaxing loungers to relax properly afterwards. They have one ‘quiet' room which has 4 double lounger beds, otherwise all other loungers are outside on the decking… not ideal if it's raining (which it was for our entire stay!) There's plenty of seating, but in my experience, in a spa you have reclining chairs or loungers to relax and fall asleep. Also, for the price you pay to use the spa, you'd think that they'd provide you with flip flops or room slippers (for sanity of not spreading verrucas!) but they didn't. You could of course buy a robe and sliders at a hefty price though… sorry but I didn't want this option as I don't have room in my luggage to take it home. The room was facing the lake and very warm for some reason. We had to remove the duvet covers. It was raining during our stay and the umbrellas on loan were not very good. The staff were courteous and professional, however, felt rather impersonal in their corporate uniforms. Other hotels in the area have a way more authentic vibe.

It was difficult to decide how to score this hotel stay as we travelled as an extended family and had two hotel rooms, one family room and one double room. The family room was very comfortable. The beds were cosy, there was plenty of space, big bay windows, a well stocked mini bar and all of the comforts expected from a four star hotel. The double room on the other hand was entirely underwhelming. It was tiny. There was a small window that looked over the flat roof and if you craned your neck, you could see lake Siljan. There was no desk to work at and oddly there were beer and wine glasses left but no mini bar. The bathroom was also tiny and it was difficult to even sit on the toilet without banging our knee. This room was located up some steps with no lift access and would have been problematic if my husband hadn't been able to carry up the bags, yet there was no offer of assistance with the bags from reception. The hotel itself was well kept and fitting for the area. There was complementary tea, coffee, water and biscuits at all times near the bar area which was a nice touch. The bar and lounge areas were comfortable and pleasant to sit in. We utilised the restaurant for breakfast and for dinner on one of the evenings of our stay. We opted for the bbq buffet which was decent enough but very pricey for what was on offer. The breakfast was OK but felt that there could have been a better selection for calibre of the hotel and as mentioned in another review, the scrambled eggs were awful. Otherwise, the food was tasty enough. All in all, it was a good stay and had it not been for the small double room, the review would have received a 4 and if I was to stay again, I would be certainly requesting a better allocated room than the small double that we were given.

The Dalecarlia Hotel & Spa Hotel is located in scenic Tällberg, offering great surroundings with a view of the lake Siljan. Unfortunately, that's roughly where the good stuff ends. Given their room prices, and additional fees for using facilities like the sauna and the Spa, I would have expected a much higher level of standards here. Our room, facing the lake Siljan, was extremely warm (much warmer than the public areas of the hotel). The only functional ventilation was to open the two windows and let them stay open for as long as possible. The shower doors need some love (maintenance) to prevent water from escaping the shower onto the bathroom floor. The breakfast lacks vegetables, and the scrambled eggs taste like they came from a pre-fab tetrapak container. The time to clear the tables after guests have left their breakfast sitting should be much shorter. Running out of food was a common issue for many guests during the breakfast. The dinner was, unfortunately, pretty much a service disaster. We switched tables, after asking staff, so they were aware of the change. We then had to wait 45 minutes for our appetizers to arrive. We had to ask for the customary "bread & butter", while the table right next to ours had theirs from the moment they were seated. When we ordered a beer, we had to ask for a beer glass. The guests right next to us were served beer in wine glasses. The food, when it finally arrived, was good. They even managed to serve the steak as ordered (rare). We talked to the Kitchen Manager after the dinner, and we did end up with a 30% discount on the bill. I think not paying for anything at dinner would have been a more appropriate gesture. I fully understand that anyone can have a bad day at the office, but there were just too many things that, when combined, made for a pretty sad experience. Taken this hotel's prices into account, I think a 2/5 rating is about right.

A very unique location overlooking the lake, a stunning setting and a special hotel. Country style, warm and comfortable rather than modern and slick. Great food and nice areas to sit. Our room was very special indeed at a premium cost but well worth it.

A great discovery! Perched over the hills surrounding lake Siljan, this (luxury) hotel offers a great base from which to explore this area that happens to be the cradle of Swedish culture. Tällberg, Rättvik, Nusnäs, Orsa, Mora, Leksand… The combination of good sized rooms, a modern spa, hiking trails, a nice restaurant and plenty of seating areas to read a book or enjoy a Fika, make this an idilic location, with or without children.

Arriving at the Dalecarlia hotel in the beautiful, rolling green hills looking of the lake Siljan (formed by a giant meteor some 350 million years ago), surrounded by well-kept wooden lodges(villas) painted red shows a enticing facade. The hotel is majestic, integrating the original old house with more modern buildings housing guest rooms. The reception hall is big, airy, tastefully furnished. The rooms are... OK. Clean. But nothing special. The fully tiled bath room offers the cheapest possible toilet paper. The restaurant is nice, the food is OK but does not meet the standard the restaurant layout promises. By the way, the bar closes at 11pm.

The hotel is nicely located and has wonderful view over Lake Siljan, but our room was on the back side of the hotel, overlooking greenery. The bedroom is clean and spacious, the amenities are good, and so is the restaurant. The spa is great and relaxing. Will come back for the spa, and hopefully we can stay at the room overlooking Lake Siljan.

Very sweet staff and great view with beautiful sunset, but the rooms look a bit like hostel rooms (we stayed one upgrade above standard room so I can imagine the standard would be worse). The whole hotel needs a little renovation if they want to keep those prices. For example the carpeting in our room and the carpeting in the dining hall. Food was pretty nice and sweet older waitress. I would say there are better and more quaint places to stay in Tällberg. That being said we had a lovely time visiting the small village.

The restaurant and spa in this place are fantastic but the rooms are just average. Not sure where they get their classification from but to call hillside view room “superior” when the hotel commands excellent views of the lake, is to take the mickey. Kettles with 1ft of cord are also very impractical as are separated allegedly “double beds” and bathroom decor and facilities are mid 90s.

2 adult in Delux room with breakfast + Good breakfast buffé. + Great location in the picturesque village of Tällberg. - Bad Wi-Fi in room. - Realy simple bathrobe for men and no bathrobe included for women despite they have a SPA. - The room was not ready for check in untill 4 pm. - The room was not clean, former guests socks was left on the floor beside the bed.

We were really looking forward to a romantic and de-stressing weekend after a long workweek, and its my first ever visit to Tällberg. We got a very nice suite which was a pleasant surprise. The room is exactly like in the pictures, with great view to the lake (if summer time). The spa was nice though a little too small for the amount of visitors, We (and many others) had to queue to use the hot tub. There are only 2 warm tub (one indoors and one outdoors and each fit about 8-10 pax). The massage was great, it really helped me with my training aches. The dinner was good though the fish carpaccio and the smoked deer for the entree was way too salty. The main dish (steak and fish) were great. On our second night, we were woken up by really loud party music from our neighbour. After calling the hotel security guards 2x, the guests next door moved their speakers to the loft (using the emergency exit), which was even worst as the emergency door is not sound proof at all. So we could barely sleep for the entire night, listening to Ramstein (hard rock) and young men shouting Hail Hitler to the music. The next morning, the reception wrote off our drinks (during dinner) as compensation. However we came home really tired, our entire sunday was ruined. Probably just bad luck but we sure did not expect a spa hotel to be a party hotel. :( in the end, is the 6000+sek well spend ? I would say not since it did not meet our objective. The services of the staff has been top notch over the weekend despite all.

We stayed at this hotel as part of a golf package for two nights. Very nice room with plenty of space. The restaurant was excellent. A three course dinner with free selection from the menu (except drinks) was included in the price. Also a session at the SPA was included in the package. Quite nice and relaxing. During the whole stay, the whole crew at the hotel, restaurant and spa was very friendly and accommodating. Any small issue was resolved well and quickly. They all deserve high recommendations for their positive attitude.

This was the second time I stayed at Dalecarlia and it was just as good as the first time. Or even better, this time we got a room in the old part of the hotel above the restaurant and overlooking lake Siljan. We stayed two nights, had dinner both nights at the hotel's restaurant and food was excellent (and so was the wine!). Room was nice and clean - and the view absolutely amazing! Few things are more beautiful than watching sun setting over lake Siljan. We visited the gym (not big, but enough equipment for a good work out) and the SPA. Fantastic outdoor pool overlooking the lake. The only real downside of the hotel and for me not giving it a 5 review is that the SPA closed way too early, already at 20.00.

I enjoyed our visit to the Delecarlia Hotel. The staff were friendly. Our room was on the back-side of the hotel, overlooking greenery. I believe this to be the preferred room location as the lake-view rooms overlook the parking lot. As it was early summer, the town itself was quiet - not a lot going on. Few trails are accessible so walking on the road is the only option but b/c there were few cars, the walks were not dangerous. The walk to the lakeshore is particularly nice. I was there with a group (conference) and we were on a schedule (set mealtimes). I enjoyed the meals and did not find the space overly crowded. The food was good. The serving staff was friendly and accommodating.

Wonderful hotel. The rooms are small and basic but comfortable enough. Fantastic pool and spa with a great outdoor area overlooking lake Siljan. The hotel sits on beautiful green grounds, is dog friendly and they have a fantastic restaurant. We ate dinner at the restaurant three nights and the chef made me a special vegan meal each time which was fantastic. At their breakfast buffet, they even had vegan cheese, vegan yoghurt, milk. Great beer and wine selections for craft beer fans and wine connoisseurs. On my previous visit to Tällberg, I stayed at Åkerblads hotel but I found Dalecarlia to better in every way. Best hotel in Tällberg.

Having always wanted to stay at this hotel, my expectations were high. Boy! Was I disappointed. The hotel is beautifully situated on Lake Siljan, and the Spa was fine, especially as we were there on a Monday and they were very few people using the spa. My Aromamassage was a disaster. The masseur ended up trying to "fix" me instead of doing his job. My whole body aches today. This is NOT OK! The staff were uninterested in us as guests. The evening meal was mediocre. Breakfast was fine but nothing extraordinary. Our room was a standard room. The feeling at the hotel was "tired", in need of updating. Such a shame.

We got a good discount (although still 1464SEK to pay) on booking.com for a last minute booking of a ‘standard' room. As nearly useable if you book by booking.com we got probably the worst located room of the hotel. Although the final location of the room is the ground floor level, it is not accessible without going up and down 4 times stairs from the reception to the room. We had to do that with our luggage for a 2 week trip, Room is not accessible by the elevator. Nobody of the staff offered any help perhaps because they know that became a heavy adventure. The last stairs are only 50cm wide! The entrance door to the room is lower than my 1.75cm body length. The minibar was taken away. ‘Splendid' view, not on the lake or the garden, but on the garbage bins and the workers parking. This is not a standard room of a 4**** hotel. This is a room in a 2** hotel. It look like it was a former servant's room that has been a little bit refurnished. At 04pm we wanted to book a table in the restaurant for diner that evening, but as we had booked through booking.com only room & breakfast, we could not get a table anymore. The headwaiter advised us to come near 09pm to the restaurant, in the hope there was a table free. A risk that we did not take. And luckily we did not, considering the hectic disaster the breakfast was the next morning. It has more the experience of a rampageous school canteen than the restaurant of a 4**** hotel. At 09am nearly all food plates were empty or ruined. Pre-sliced meat and cheese direct out the supermarket plastic, melting butter, artificial powder omelette, only empty sauce bottles, viennoiserie failed, a queue of 10 minutes to bake a waffle yourself, nearly no staff to clean the tables, etc. At check-out we complained about the quality of the room, but they said this is for them a ‘standard' room. If we wanted better we had to order a ‘superior' room. We did not agree with that. All rooms a 4**** hotel offers has to be at least 4**** rooms, not only the best one's. After a long discussion a restitution of 200SEK was offered with the argument this is their standard compensation in those cases. Sick of the discussion we accepted, but the bad feelings remain. To save us the return over all stairs with our luggage we decided to bring the car on the workers parking and bring out the luggage through the small window ...

We stayed for a weekend and really liked the friendly staff and the breakfast buffé, which was excellent. We had dinner both evenings and the food was good and the wines excellent. The Spa was beautifully done and it was wonderful to relax in the outdoor hot tub after a day in the ski tracks. However, the hotel building itself is not very charming and the room - in spite of us having a top grade room - was designed without any taste and was not a place where you would like to stay and chill. Not cosy or romantic at all. I

Ordered online and was given a terrible room. Changed on arrival and then it was fine. Recommend staying in the main building and getting a room with a view. Most of the staff were friendly. Not quite up to standard for the price.

Dalecarlia is situated high up in Tällberg and offers a fantastic view over lake siljan. We went here for dinner and it was great. Very good food and great friendly service. Strongly recommended to eat and also stay at which we didnt this time though.

Very bad room cleaning, soap despenser empty, no washing of the used cups, no more toilet floor carpet the second day , no replacement of coffee and tea! Towels in the bathroom were found after room cleaning in the same position as in the morning after shower.

Was recommended to stay at the QH Dalecarlia and was astonished by the view on arrival. Got an upgrade to the main building room 337 ,don't you just love that! The hotel has SPA facilities unfortunately I arrived late and left early so that remains to be explored. The sliders on the bar meny was had on the terrace with once again the VIEW" of Lake Siljan! The sliders came extremely well done, demand it medium. The sweet potatoe fries and the local wiesse beer ??

A business trip in may and we stayed in this hotel. The building itself is very old and owned by a foundation, and they have kept a lot of the old details. Lovely view over the lake Siljan from the dining hall and the upstairs lounge. Good food and good wine. The room itself was very Spartan, a bed, desk and TV. Nothing fancy at all and it was quite a bit noisy from the hallway. Then there is the spa. One indoor pool and hot tub. Sauna and one pool and hot tub outdoors. Very relaxing with possibility to but snacks and drinks at the pool. Very lovely and quiet surrounding.

I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. Very spacious rooms, comfortable beds and cushions, perfect view to the countryside, very delicious breakfast and the most important the spirit of Scandinavia. Unfortunately, did not managed to attend the SPA, which supposed to be very good.

The view of the lake is great. Very calm and green location. Hotel decor is attractive and relevant to the place. Nice staff and service. Small but comfortable rooms. Breakfast is good. SPA and other facilities are also very nice. Overall, it is a good choice for 3-4 day stay.
