I'm pretty sure I've never given a hotel a one-star review before; on the other hand, I've never stayed anywhere so utterly terrible before. This was the official hotel for a family event, so we stayed here despite some worrisome reviews. It was so much worse than I expected. Here's some highlights (lowlights?) of why this was so awful: - Smoking - there were tons of smokers out front, so at first I assumed no smoking is permitted inside. Our room had a sign saying it was a non-smoking room. But the entire interior reeked like cigarettes and weed. It seems like they have smoking rooms, but not separate non-smoking floors, so you can't escape the smell. - The coffee was utterly undrinkable. Fortunately, it's sandwiched in between two gas stations where you can get coffee. I looked at the breakfast buffet and knew immediately that we would also be passing on that. - The elevators alternated between being incredibly slow and not working at all. I can walk up and down the stairs, but other members in our extended family have mobility issues and this was very inconvenient. This was made worse by the fact that there was a tropical fish convention going on (yes, you heard that right) and people were moving giant tanks and supplies on the elevators, making them even more unreliable. - Everything looked dirty and worn down - There only appears to be housekeeping when rooms are changing hands - no interim housekeeping was done after our first night. Seriously - don't stay here - it's that bad.
Worst possible experience you will ever have in a hotel/motel. Waited 50 minutes in check-in line to be told to wait (2.5 hours....yes 2 1/2 hours!!!) to then be told they did not have my room. Manager tried to make their problem as it was my mistake...by sitting there for 2.5 hours??? She, the manager, walked away from me and went into her office and left the untrained, unwilling, confused front desk worker to deal with the issue. One of the 4 elevators has not worked at that hotel for years, the other three would shut down and start operating at random time throughout the day and night. Ice machines are either not on each floor or did not work if you found one. The staff was useless. My room was clean but showed a lot of very old age and really hysterical patch up jobs. Heard several people in my group saying there was water leaking in their rooms and/or appliances did not work. I travel a good bit in my line of business and this is without question the worst place I've ever seen.
We recently stayed at the Best Western Plus Strongsville Cleveland for one night, flying in from Charlotte, NC, for a dear friend's unexpected funeral. From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to accommodate us, showing an extraordinary level of care and compassion. I want to give a special shoutout to Dwayne, Jade, and Stacy, who truly made our stay exceptional. Jade, whom I spoke with over the phone, left detailed notes on our account, ensuring our needs were met. Dwayne had the keys ready for us upon arrival, which made check-in seamless. We were also given the flexibility of early check-in and late check-out, which was beyond helpful during such a physically and emotionally exhausting time. Thank you Stacy! Although we didn't have the chance to grab breakfast due to sheer exhaustion, the level of love and care we experienced at this hotel is something we've never encountered anywhere else. I rarely fill out surveys, but this stay was so remarkable that I felt compelled to share. Thank you to the entire staff for making such a tough trip just a little bit easier. We are incredibly grateful. -- Lauren and Andrew Tudor
The staff was very friendly. Check in was easy. The rooms were clean. The breakfast was good. Kids had a great time at the pool. The bar area was a great place for the family to meet up and enjoy time together. Check out was easy and they emailed copies of all receipts
I was on a bus tour that had arranged to stay at this hotel. I asked the tour company to request a handicapped accessible bathroom. i cannot step over the side of a bathtub. This bathroom had grab bars around the tub. Every other hotel I stayed at during the trip had a walk in showier. I was alone and could not have called for help if I had fallen. I did not take a shower. Fortunately, it weas the last night of the trip. If we had stayed there for several nights, I would have been pretty smelly by the end of the stay.
Check in was easy. Accomodations comfortable, needed to request wash cloths. Good complimentary breakfast. Excellent tip for dinner. would definitely stay again. Very easy access from turnpike exit. Needed better blackout curtains.
A clean room, comfortable bed, dog friendly, attentive staff and a hot shower all at a reasonable price works for me! Breakfast and fresh coffee were provided, plenty of vehicle parking plus grass areas to walk dogs. They also had a pool and gym areas but, I didn't have time to use. Vinny's restaurant on site was very convenient for a quick bite and take out food.
This is the most disgusting hotel I've stayed at. A dog was allowed to walk around the restraunt during breakfast and pooped on the carpeted floor. Room reeked of deoderizer and didn't have a bathroom fan making it extremely damp. Stairwell door was unlocked and opened directly to main parking lot, allowing anyone to access the entire hotel unnoticed. Fitness centre had zero ventaliation, smelled terrible and was extremely damp.
I stay at this location 1-2 times per year when traveling. The rooms are always very clean and bed is very comfortable. The staff is friendly and helpful. It seems to be a very busy place so there can be hustle and bustle of other guests but not outside the norm.
The room was not clean and the common area and halls smell musty. The bar does not have products to make a proper cocktail like a screwdriver. Our catalytic convertor was cut off and stolen. Our car barely made it to a garage and it cost us $2400 and the same thing happened to others. We did not feel safe. I would not recommend staying at tge Best Western Plus in Strongsville
Have stayed at this location a ton since moving from Ckeveland 5 years ago. It is a good hotel, staff is always friendly, breakfast is pretty good, and you can't be the location for travel, food, or things to do. Pretty good value for the money you pay
Very nice place to stay close enough to restaurants and gas stations but far enough away to feel like you are in the city. Check in went smoothly and the ladies were very friendly at check in and check out. Breakfast was okay nothing special but enough to fill us up. We would stay there again.
Hotel needs upgrade. Only 1 elevator works. Breakfast was lousy. Eggs and sausage were not edible. My wife was stuck in an elevator for 15 minutes. Lounge and restaurant are only open certain nights. Ice machine on our floor didn't work. Staff was indifferent.
The hotel was old, but reasonably clean. The bed was comfortable and the staff was awesome. The breakfast was good, but the staff made the stay even better. The location was good, right off the freeway. The price was the best part. We will probably stay here again.
I needed early check in but was emphatic NO. Elevator was out Sunday morning and I asked why no notice on elevator and housekeeper claimed it was not her job to do so. Water pressure was awful and wifi kept steaming. Skip this hotel if you have options
Physical plant needs updating. 2 of the 3 elevators were broken down when I arrived, and it was scary using them because they would malfunction. Couldn't use the exercise room because the electric card reader lock was broken. Air conditioning was broken in the first floor restaurant on the first day of my stay, and the restaurant appeared to be short on staff - people were complaining about the wait for food. On a positive note, the front desk staff was nice, courteous, and helpful. My room was nice.
Room was clean, bed and pillows were comfy, and AC worked. Area was ok and felt safe. But hotel is just old and broken. Was told it was an old Holiday Inn - and instead of knocking it down Best Western took over! Ceilings were all super low. Rust was in the bath tub. Elevators were the joke of all guests! We all never knew if we would arrive on our floors! Most ended up just taking the stairs. Breakfast was edible - but barely on morning 2…. Room card keys didn't work for at least 10 guests that we saw. But people were nice. And really, the stay was just fine. As long as you get a good price, it won't kill you to spend a night or two here.
The beds were fantastic super comfortable. The hotel was a great location. The pool is really nice. The rooms could use a little updating, and there are some ceiling tiles falling out or open in the pool area but all in all is a fantastic hotel. We stay there again in the future.
only 1 of the 2 main elevators were in service and we got stuck in them 2 times, the restaurant was not open for lunch or dinner and there was no room service or bar service. the hotel was obvious short of staff, but they tried valiantly. We attended a banquet and they only had 4 servers I saw and they tried but the meals were served salom first and when those were served to the whole party, chicken was served and then beef was served after everyone at our table was finished eating their entree. Also the selection in the pantry are was not restocked promptly. Hotel Mgmt is POOR!! Only godd item was the room was clean and the bed comfortable!
This is an absolute dirtiest hotel ive ever stayed at. Bathroom shower was still dirty, i had red stains on my pillow. The bed looked like it was made after someone spent the night in it. Coffee tasted like old grounds with water poured on top. No pressure in water, and when i addressed my issues with front staff, he shrugged his shoulders and said he took my last night off the bill (i had room booked for 2 nights and after the 1st, i couldnt stay). My credit card statement said i was charged for 2. Now im battling getting this fixed. DO NOT STAY AT THIS LOCATION!!! WORSE BEST WESTERN EVER!!!!
This is the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. And the staff doesn't care. I was there for a convention. They shut off the AC to the common areas. They refused to clean the rooms during a 5 night stay. I had to go buy towels to get clean towels. Only 2 of the 3 elevators worked but only sometimes. I was stuck 4 different times in 5 days. Horrible!!!!
Went in July 2024 to a Buick National meet. Our room was clean and the air conditioning in room worked. Elevators left people stranded Many times. Short staffed. Staff was working hard. Not a drinker but with a convention had only one bar tender. Breakfast good, no restaurant, people with show cars left to door dash Inconvenience for guests and loss of income to establishment. Help could be outsourced, but management goofed. Best Western Minus.
Best Western is a respectable brand but this facility ruins their reputation. First, notice the paint peeling off the entry doors that are sloppily brush painted. The only working elevator got stuck daily, trapping guest for up to 30 minutes as the safety call box does not work. Printed room instructions say housekeeping is every five days and request service from the front desk. Impossible, as there are NO PHONES in the rooms. I requested new bedding as the sheets had holes in them. The next day the front desk clerk literally said to me "Nobody got any housekeeping" as if that was acceptable. We had a banquet that booked the entire hotel, and a food service worker came to our table saying she was a volunteer. I question the idea of quantity food prepared by volunteers. Plates were being cleared from tables while others at the same table patiently waited for food. Two days later I am sick, but cannot connect it to BWP. The hotel was fully booked for a car show, but withdrew their promise to provide parking for all the cars, forcing them onto the grass next to a busy highway. This hotel was booked solid months ago and management had plenty of time to hire the right staff. The hotel next door was condemned as it attracted seedy people, and is now a Sheetz gas station. Not sure this problem is solved by Sheetz. On the list of things that a hotel should never do, this BW Plus checks every box. Do yourself a big favor and avoid this nightmare.
This hotel is unacceptable. My car club selected it so I was unaware of its condition. Never again! Not only the room, but food was terrible. The bed was comfortable, but that's it! Best Western has a lousy reputation, so I should have known. It won't happen again, and I need to find out who owns Best Western, and why they don't maintain their properties.
It's not great, but it's not that bad. Huge parking lot, our room was well used but everything worked ok. This location needs modernization, simple as that. This was once a beautiful hotel. Staff was working hard all over. This is a busy place. While we were there people were everywhere. Slept well, the breakfast was good. Check in and out went great. The a/c system throughout the buildings seems to need an upgrade, especially on the breakfast room. Price was right. It may work for you, too.
Checkin: Front desk clerk was unfriendly. There were NO carts. We lugged our luggage to our room, THEN found that there was a door to the parking lot 50 ft. from our room. The clerk should have told us this. Experience: Our room was a dump. It looked like the hair dryer was ripped off the wall. The crown moulding didn't match. Our refrigerator was tiny and didn't fit in the cabinet. One cabinet door was missing. It was impossible to get service. 2 calls to get maintenance to unplug our bathroom sink. When he showed up he said he was told our ac wasn't working. He did a great job of fixing the drain when he had the right equipment. Our room was never cleaned, even though we had asked twice. We had to track down housekeeping to take our trash and put in new bags, give us clean towels and toilet paper and coffee. It seemed like they are understaffed, as the the maintenance and housekeeping staff were very nice and helpful when we finally got them to our room. The front desk staff is disorganized in that they didn't tell housekeeping or maintenance to come to our room, and are not helpful or friendly. Checkout: Clerk was friendly, but never asked how our stay was. NOTE: For some reason this hotel has trouble keeping track of their luggage carts. I've never been at a hotel where people kept carts in their rooms for the entire stay. They need to put trackers on their carts or something, as they said this is a common occurance. Overall, this is one of the worst hotels we've ever stayed in regardless of brand. We are loyal Best Western guests and there is no way this is a PLUS hotel. It's more a MINUS. The only thing it had going for it was the location was convenient for the several days we stayed.
This is by far one of the worst hotels I have stayed in. We get here to check in only to be told no luggage carts available clerk went to check for a maintenance person to help and use a Maintance cart for me to be told he's not here ( which I find out later isn't true). So had to lug stuff to 6th floor we are staying 3 days. Ugh. Get 1st round to room go back for next round get in one of elevators push button to go down nothing doesn't move push door open button nothing. After a few minutes we get out go to room call front desk they “reset” elevator. Same thing next 2 days we stay elevator issues. Bleakest area nice but extremely crowded and very hot due to all the ppl there. AC in common areas seem to be an issue. I did speak to assistant manager and was very nice but she knows what a lot of guests are saying and it's not nice. Save your $$$$ go somewhere else . After being stressed and exhausted I just can't wait to get home
Dirtiest hotel I have ever been in. Guests warn you not to stay there. Room was not clean, bathrooms and pool area were filthy. Not safe for anyone alone!!!!!
Rooms need some improvements Staff friendly and helpful Pool good size use caution on flooring around pool
A FIFTY dollar charge was placed on my credit card for incidentals. I have never been charged this. Some day I hope to get it back. No hair dryer (I only need a few seconds) and no microwave (on the night that popcorn sounded good). Cracks in the bathtub caulking and dirt around the corners and edge of the bathroom floor. And the lighting in the bathroom was terrible.
Good points: staff was friendly, beds and pillows were very comfortable, location near many restaurants and shopping, decent hot breakfast Challenges for those of us over 65: toilets VERY low - not comfort height, lovely large pool but only had ladder style in and out, no cascading steps with a rail so difficult if not impossible for seniors to use. That was sad for me as I really wanted to use the pool
The bar was missing in the closet. When reported, was told nothing could be done. Was overcharged on one of the night stays. Was told that only a supervisor could change the bill. Was told a supervisor would contact me and was never contacted.
The Best Western Plus in Strongsville is a phenomenal place to stay. Rooms are clean and refrigerator was turned on and cold. Restaurant food buffet had many choices, hot and cold. Empty buffet trays were changed out quickly. Coffee station and microwave in lobby was nice to use! Of course coffee and tea available in the room as well. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. A Best place to stay in Strongsville !
Rooms are excellent. Staff is friendly and very professional. Room was clean. It was quiet and getting a good night's sleep was no problem. Breakfast was excellent with a good variety of food items from which to choose. When we come to Strongsville, this is the hotel at which we stay.
The staff at the front desk were very nice. The hotel hallways did smell of smoke, and the elevators were not very functional/safe (I took the stairs) the breakfast buffet was decent. The pool and gym were very nice and clean. The rooms were clean but the shower drain cover was broken and the alarm clock was 5 hours off! However the beds were very comfortable. I would stay here again because the other options are Super 8 or Motel 6.
Would stay again, the employee was great. My room was clean. Love the pool area plenty of room very warm like the fact that they had a private bathroom and locker area for the swimming pool . the bar area was very pleasant to sit in and enjoy it quiet drink with friends
This hotel needs to go through some renovations. Door handles not functioning properly, wall paper peeling, paint bubbling, lounge area only had 3 options for food. We reserved the conference room and someone came in yelling at us that it was theirs, another family had someone walk into their room with a key, water jug in fitness area was empty, it was cold in the main areas, outside doors were not secure.
Made reservations, arrived and was told system was down and no rooms. Others in front of us with same problem. After an hour we were given a room. Unloaded and went to room and people were in it. Went back to front desk, wife waited in line while I called Best Western reservations to see if another hotel close by had rooms. None did. They transferred me to customer service to open a ticket. Customer service called hotel t/o see what was going on while I was on hold, they couldn't get through. Customer service said someone from customer service would call me back later to see if it was resolved, but they never did. We were told by front desk there were no rooms, so we left and went to a different hotel next door. The front desk person was suppose to cancel the charge for the room they put us in that was occupied. Later that week I look at my credit card and there are 2 separate charges for 2 rooms. I call customer service back and explain situation. Customer service calls the hotel, then called me back and tell me the hotel says the charges stand. I get the number from them of the lady they talked to at hotel. I call the hotel and she said that customer service did call them but the guy at customer service wasn't able to explain at all what the situation was (obviously he didn't really pay attention to me). She was able to find one of the charges and had it credited back to my card. She couldn't find the other room charge, so she sent it over to accounting and said I would hear from them. I was never called by accounting so I followed up with the lady I first talked to, who apologized for the lack of call back and gave my the number of who to call. I got a hold of accounting and explained the situation and was told she would research and get back to me. I called her back a week later (after no call back from her) and she said she couldn't find the charge and asked me to email her a screenshot of it. About a week later I followed up by email (didn't hear back from her) for a status. The next day she replied and said a credit was put back on my card. Twelve days later I called her back to tell her no credit was on my card. She said she would look into it and call me back. Four days later I call her back and she said she put the credit back on my card the day before. She didn't know why it didn't go through the first time. 10 days later I call her back because no credit went through and I was told she didn't know why and that I should dispute it with my credit card company. Which I did. I called customer service back to day (6Jan24) to be sure they were aware of what happened and ended up talking with a supervisor, who saw no problem with the customer service they provided and said they did all they could do. Needless to say I will never stay at a Best Western again!
The rooms are clean, the beds are so comfy, you can tell they actually care about the hotel. The hot breakfast in the morning is really good and convenient. They have a pool that's actually open, unfortunately this was a last minute trip for me so I didn't bring a swim suit but it looks like a nice pool. The front desk workers are really nice and accommodating. I don't know why this hotel only has 3 stars, it definitely deserves more. I will continue to stay here in the future.
This hotel does not honor reservations. Anyone considering staying at this hotel, be advised to get a copy of your reservation FROM THE HOTEL AND INCLUDING THE BEST WESTERN CONFIRMATION NUMBER. Otherwise you may be told halfway through your stay that you have to leave. I had a handicapped room reserved for a family member through an online third party site. We were forced to vacate the room halfway through our stay.
This used to be a great place to stay. However it is becoming increasingly run-down and underserviced. The breakfast is beyond pathetic and many items in the rooms and hallways don't function properly. The main problem (and an inexcusable one) is that the elevators are highly unreliable and rarely work. This last stay saw three out of the four elevators on the property experience periods of downtime. This was with a full house of convention goers and senior citizens from a tour group.
Hotel was fairly clean but felt dirty due to how run down it was and outdated. There were cracks in the ceiling, broken elevators, and clogged drains. Staff was very friendly. They have done some updates in the lobby and eating areas but should focus on the rooms.
I don't expect much from a Best Western, but this one seems particularly bad. It used to be nice for what it was when it was managed by IHG, but it has really really gone downhill since the changing hands. Incredibly understaffed and just starting to fall apart.
We were booked into this hotel twice, on the first and last night of a bus trip. On our first night the elevators closest to the lobby were out of order. On our second night four of the six elevators were not working. Part of our agreement with the hotel included dinner both nights. The quality of the food was so bad that many of us on the bus voted to stop and buy dinners to go before arriving at the hotel on the second night we were booked into this hotel. At checkin I remained in the lobby to speak with someone and soon saw several of my bus mates asking for assistance at the desk because their keys didn't work. The hotel is in desperate need of maintenance. Many letters are missing from signs. For example, the women's room near the lobby has a sign that now says "omen". Our bathroom had been shoddily cleaned. The floor in front of the toilet had clearly not been cleaned. A makeup remover package was open and missing its contents. Best Western company should be ashamed to have their name on this property.
Staff too disinterested to do their jobs. Elevator breaks down every 3 uses. Staff does not honor reservations. Alternate entrances are not locked. Lighting in rooms is terrible. There are gaps around the room doors allowing you to see into the hallway.
They need a renovation....the staff was friendly and helpful and that says a lot!!! However, the innerspring need to invest in the hotel.Bath room with mold in the shower caulk makes on the walls. Staff was great front desk, housekeeping and managers.
Shower not working elevators not working public areas needed clean up front desk staff rude but other staff friendly find another place has to be better in the area. Restaurant not open on certain days which I can understand found a place for dinner not too far away I guess this hotel is old and needs some updating
This hotel is in desperate need of major renovations. Everything from the elevators to the room key readers needs work. Cleanliness can be an issue with old buildings and it shows. The room always felt damp and there isn't a vent for the bathroom. They changed our room upon check in, I booked a King with a hideaway, and I was not happy. Once I saw the over all state of the hotel and room I was fine with the double queens, we only needed somewhere to sleep.
Horrible Hotel! We spent 5 days here since it's the only hotel close to the area we needed to be in. Terrible Front desk staff, horrible attitudes when you ask for anything. Completely the worst housekeeping services. This hotel has no towels. We literally were requesting towels and were told they had to wash them first. We took towels from the pool area. We had our room serviced once during a 5 day stay even though we requested it everyday. If you don't get on the list the day before then your room won't be serviced and you don't get clean towels. The elevator was broken 3 days that we were there. We used the stairs everyday. When we arrived it appeared that the sheets weren't even changed from the last guest. Completely gross. Carpet in rooms is disgusting too. AC's are awful and make noise. Terrible experience!!!
This hotel is clean! Staff is very helpful! Breakfast was delicious ! There is a big pool and bar though we were not able to utilize it due to time! Easy access off of I-71! Great shopping and restaurants near by! You get a lot of bang for your buck!
Our stay wasn't very pleasant. We wasn't able to check in due to our room because it had not been cleaned so they kept telling us to come back later and later and later. Once we finally got into our room after 7 PM it was mediocre at best. You would think when you ask for an ADA room It wouldn't be located all the way on the other side of the building. The distance made it complicated due to me having a hard time walking. We asked for an ADA Room but found the room hard to navigate due to a desk placed at the end of the bed. I had a hard time getting past the desk because there was no room for my walker. After getting settled in for the night I had fell asleep and was woke up by some kind of an alarm that was beeping repeatedly. We tried calling the front desk but the phone in our room wasn't working so I looked up the property number online and tried calling from my cell phone but the call couldn't be completed. It wouldn't ring. It would just end abruptly so I called the number for Best Western and tried to explain the situation to the customer service person. She acknowledged she could hear the alarm over the phone as well. She placed me on hold and tried to call the property as well but was unable to reach anyone because she also had trouble with the call not going through. She transferred me to another number and requested I leave a voicemail about the issue. My wife went to the front desk but said the guy at the front desk didn't seem to care or want to be bothered by her or her concerns. She said he was very rude to her. This was a half hour after the beeping noise started so she returned to our room. The noise continued for about another hour. She decided to return to the front desk. When she returned to address the issue he was rude and dismissive to her acting like he didn't want to be bothered with her. This noise began about 11:15 and continued until about 12:47. It wasn't until a housekeeper by the name of Jeanne came off the elevator and spoke with my wife. She immediately went into the room next door and eliminated the noise. The part we don't understand is let's say the guy at the front desk can't leave the front desk but why wouldn't he radio the other lady on property and have her address the issue earlier? She was very pleasant but the front desk guy was not nice or helpful in any way. After the noise stopped I had a headache for about two hours that prevented me from being able to relax enough to go back to sleep. Overall it made for a bad night and a terrible day the following day because I hardly got any rest. I have reached out to customer service and nobody seems to care. I wouldn't recommend this property at all. There's no excuse for their lack of respect or concern for their guests. We was there for the Chevelle car show. When we vote about location next year this property will be not be endorsed because there were a number of our people who had concerns that weren't addressed.
Very poor internet. It was a wireless connection but it was so slow it never connected. The rooms are dated. A microwave in the room would have been nice. For a hotel this size and hosting conferences, their wireless internet was horrible and I could not connect because it was so slow!
It was extremely hot in the lobby when I checked in so maybe the A/C was out. My room had a foul odor. I saw several people with pets so maybe this hotel is pet friendly. The sink in my bathroom wouldn't drain. The A/C in my room did work well. The room was just average. The hotel was very crowded. There was some type of doll convention. I would recommend finding another place to stay.
The service at the front desk on one early evening was below expected standards for a Best Western Hotel. It appeared we were asking too much because we required two extra towels for our room. Also asked for a pad of paper to write on & the staff member would not even give me a pad or a piece of paper. Disappointing.
No AC in the lobby .People and their BYOB and leaving a mess with police as security. Why? Room carpet was nasty. Staircase was very dirty and a family friend was in a room that smelled very bad and disgusting
We coudlnt stay here it smelled so bad. A combination of mold and stale cigarette smoke combined with room deodorizer. There was a long long line at the hotel desk and the sole employee was sweating profusely, hanging up the phone if it rang so that he could deal with the 10 people in line who were there to complain about lack of towels, lack of bedding, requests to cancel, etc... We waited and told him we coudlnt stay b/c the room smelled. He said he coudlnt refund since we booked with Priceline. Priceline said that the hotel is requesting a photo of our room to document the smell. I have been calling to get a refund but the phone number (440) 238-8800, is now out of order. They must have gone out of business.
Guy at check in was practically monosyllabic and unfriendly. Gave off a creepy vibe; my teenager thought so too. Took over a dozen tries to get into the room because of a problem with the lock mechanism that required pulling up on the handle instead of the normal pushing down. When I mentioned it at checkout, the young woman said that yes, some of the rooms have an issue with the lock mechanism and the hotel hopes to replace all the locks at the same time so they aren't fixing individual ones. I suggested they either put a sticker on the problematic doors or inform guests at check-in so they don't experience the frustration we did. Bathroom floor was sticky. Bathroom has no fan, which meant that after the second shower, everything in the room was damp. We got a great deal at $75 for the night. (Hotel website described it as a non-refundable flash sale rate.) But I will never stay here again.
Poor staff attention, staff didn't seem to care about the problems I was bringing to their attention. No telephone or clock in the room. When this was brought to the staff's attention, I was told to use my own phone and there are a lot of phone missing. No air conditioning in the lounge area - making for a miserable environment. When bedding for the sofa and towels were requested - I had to request 2 times and it took approximately 5 hours to receive these items. Just a horrible experience!
I generally am quick to praise and slow to complain but this stay definitely deserved a review and a warning to others to stay somewhere else. The room was dirty, I don't think they vacuumed prior to us entering the room. The internet was slow and not working at times. The television didn't work properly. There was no A/C in the hallways or lobby and the breakfast was so disgusting (runny eggs sitting in a pool of water, burnt potatoes, and most other food missing (bagels, pankcakes, etc.) that I left and went to get breakfast somewhere else.
Understaffed ! Decent hotel bedclothes & rooms - no way to contact front desk via in room phone - diverted to Natl Call Center. No toilet paper in our room ! Junkie semi trailer viewed parked as hotel storage - out our picture window Room 151. Get a storage room instead , management ! Hotel overpriced by 50% - should be $75 range - not $138 a night. Disappointed member rewards club. Won't stay here again - ever !
Smell of lobby was a clue. Poor guy at desk was fielding complaints on the phone and from 10 people waiting in line to complain. Elevator and stairwells were grimy. Checked out room but it smelled bad. Had to leave. Not clean.
This hotel is located approximately in 25 min from downtown Cleveland and is suited in a safe area with multiple dining options around. The staff is extremely helpful, the room was big and clean, the breakfast was good. Overall, I had no issues with my stay, and I can definitely recommend this place.
Discourteous, no food, lack of importance, if this is the best they have to offer maybe they should consider taking the word "Best" out of Best Western and call it Old Western. I understand some people don't like the jobs the have, but that is their choice, don't take your frustration out on someone who dose like there job and when they com to your Hotel they jus want to relax.
Hotel hall way smelled terrible. Pool was closed the entire length of the stay after being told it was open when we checked in. The breakfast is a joke dont waste your money Its continental at best and you shouldn't be charged. Dont expect help from the Manager as he is never on duty and the front desk is rude to put it politely.
The was the worst hotel experience I have ever had. Front desk was rude and not present My daughter and I got stuck in the elevator. We waited over 30 mins to check in with no sense of urgency from the staff The room smelled of smoke and mold There were bugs on the floor, mold in the bathroom and no towels or sheets for the pull out couch. The keys didn't work so you would have to go to the front desk multiple time for them to give new keys No coffee or cups for coffee in the lobby just an empty carafe The pool closed early even though it was to be open another hour. There are homeless living outside and the doors on the first floor do not lock. I didn't have hot water one day to shower. Poor safety!!! The hotel was filthy. The house keeping staff was the only positive. They were always trying to help. I would never stay in this hotel. Please don't waste your money there. This is just a short list of the issues I contacted customer service and after 3 calls I was offered Best Western points. No thanks we will never stay in the hotel chain again, don't make the same mistake we did.
Rundown, old, tired hotel definitely in need of a total revamp. This is the second time staying here. Unfortunately my company picked it so I had no choice. This is definitely not up to the standards of a Best Western "Plus." In fact this is probably the worst Best Western Plus I've stayed at and I travel a lot. The area by the elevators and inside the elevator is always freezing. It takes forever for the hot water to get warm. The breakfast was horrible. Usually BW Plus has a great breakfast but not this one. I had cold egg patties and hard, overcooked tater tots. The only "plus" was that the bed was decent and the room was clean. Overall it was not a comfortable stay.
Staff was nice and helpful, however hotel maintenance was minimal, such as pool down for maintenance our entire 2 day stay, elevator not working, multiple burned out lights in elevators, room service only every 5 days or special request. Also food options extremely limited and inconsistent. For example, the gravy at breakfast on Thursday was wonderful, but none on Friday. The only lobby Restaurant just open 7am to 9:30am, with no menu order option available.
John at the front desk is most amazing as well as Stephanie. They are so professional and kind. No matter what issues I have they always try to assist me no matter what. I'm a travel nurse so I stay At multiple hotels and I highly recommend this one.
Avoid this dump! Hotel staff is uncaring, trash all over the place, Most of the Elevators were broken out of service. 1 Elevator that works stops randomly at different floors. Pool appears to be permanently closed due to neglect. Room itself was a good size but if you want hot water- allow your faucet to go for atleast 7 minutes then it starts warming up. Bed was lumpy and just ok. Wall unit AC/Heat was missing the plastic grate over the vent with melted M&Ms and skittles laying in there. Do not look behind the bedside table to in the closet- Dirt, dust and unknown stains. Front desk is well aware of these issues but stated management filters these reviews. AVOID THIS DUMP!
Reception staff and housekeeping were all very pleasant and helpful. Overall appearance is well-kept. Price is absolutely reasonable. It is easy to get to right off the highway. Seemed to have ample parking.
We just needed a place to stay overnight. The staff was friendly and the bed was comfortable. The room was clean. The hotel was fine for our brief overnight stop. However, the bathroom was in need of an upgrade. It was clean but the ceiling appeared to be hastily painted by the world's laziest painter. There were drips and splatters on the wall, floor, and even the tissue holder (they couldn't be bothered to move that even?). The bathroom wallpaper was hilariously STAPLED to the wall in places.
Only one elevator worked (and it was iffy); the pool was closed “for maintenance”; the secondary entrance doors only worked to exit, not enter; and if you need handicap parking, those spaces are further away from the entrance than many regular spaces.
We've stayed there several times over the past three years, and there are many reasons why. It always gives you a clean room, good rates and excellent staff. Considering it's really somewhere you would just use as a stop between Chicago and the east costs, they do a wonderful job and rightfully earn our praise
By far, the staff was the best we have encountered. Everyone was very pleasant, helpful, and ready to resolve any questions with a genuine smile. The breakfast buffet was well stocked with hot and cold items and on one particular morning, the hash brown potatoes were absolutely delicious. We ordered food in the bar area late in the evening. The limited menu had a variety of food to order. The food we ordered was tasty and very reasonably priced. I ordered the fish and chips meal. I especially like the larger size of the fries. We were so glad that this facility was available.
I reserved a King and received a Double Queen. I was put on the first floor stinky room because I had a pet. I asked what happened to the King I reserved and I was told it wasn't available. When I reserved my room I called the front desk direct. The clerk was curt and not very helpful. Sad to say my wife and I will not be visiting Best Western. Screw me once, shame on you. Screw me twice, shame on me. There will not be a second time.
for the price of the room , it was good. the Elevators not working was an issue, but they did call someone right away. the pool was out of order also. the rooms are always clean, and the staff is helpful as they can be. there was only one person working the front desk though. took a long time to check in
Hotel staff are a group of hard working people. I've stayed at the BW in Strongsville previously, and I'll be back again! I'm confident that the elevators issues will be resolved quickly. The location of this hotel is very convenient - and the nightime noise levels are always low.
Excellent staff, we come here every year with friends and family, everyone goes out of their way to accommodate our needs! Great value for the money! Close to so many restaurants, and everything we need
I booked online for $63 and the rate was not honored upon arrival. I was charged $134. I'll never stay there again! Why use online booking if the hotel will pretend they can't find your reservation or they won't honor the booked rate?!
Front desk staff was super sweet. Showers were glorious with hot water and plenty of pressure. Our favorite place to stay when visiting music venues in Cleveland! Lots of cute restaurants local but go early, they roll up the carpet early. Applebees was open late.
Loved the location of this hotel, right off the highway and only 20 minutes from Ohio City where we were visiting. The room was affordable. Seemed very clean and bed was very comfortable. We liked the bar in the hotel and the bartender was very nice. Breakfast was not complimentary but had a $10 per guest fee. We passed on breakfast and ate in the city instead. Though we were gone from 9am-7pm it did not appear that housekeeping visited our room during the day. The pool was also closed for maintenance which was disappointing. The building itself is outdated- the elevator was scary- button to summon the elevator did not light up so there was no way to know if the elevator was coming. Sink, toilet, and shower all appeared to be very old. Overall 3/5, classic, outdated hotel experience.
This hotel staff is rude and unaccommodating. If you book your stay other then calling the hotel directly they will put you in a completely different room then what they advertised for and what you were wanting. The staff will pretty much tell you "too bad". We were in line with 3 other unhappy guests that ended up canceling their reservations. Do yourself a favor and book something else. You will be a lot happier. Our original reservation was scheduled for 5 nights we cancelled after night one, we thought we would just tough it out but after the fire alarm went off and on for a while with no communication from the hotel staff we decided to move onto another hotel.
Terrible hotel. The rooms need to be updated and the dark colors need to be brightened. The Bathrooms are no better than a highway reststop outhouse. The tub in my room was cracked and had a chuck out of it and it looked like it hadn't seen softscrub in many years! The lighting in the rooms is terrible and the heat and air conditioning works when it wants to. We had to TV service for three of the four nights I stayed! There was no adjustment to the bill for no TV. The pool was closed again. The elevators need to be condemned. Only one of the two front elevators was working and quite a few people were stuck inside it at various times during our stay. I was one of those people!
We were forced to stay due to limited selections of Hotels for a Stay and Play Hockey Tournament. Hotel is in dire need of updates. Elevators are old, slow, and broken lights. Rooms were fair but again should be updated. It is old and was once a Holiday INN. BW purchased it and claimed they remodeled however I think they went the cheaper route. Beds were fair and AC was fair. Location was good as the one rink is right directly behind the hotel. Great for walking distance and tailgating!
My sister recently got married. Myself, family, and guests of the wedding stayed at Best Western. The hotel was so accommodating and made sure our stay was perfect! Sales Rep- Heather was AMAZING!!!!!
Worse room every, over 50 WASP in my room. They were flying everywhere. Friday night and Saturday afternoon. i would not recommend this place. Water took forever to get warm. and there was food all over the floor near the bed. As if no cleaned or vacuum. Never again.
We brought a hockey team to the hotel and were hosted with a number of other groups. The hotel did a nice job placing everyone so that everyone remained happy and our kids were comfortable being there without being yelled at by staff or other patrons.
When we checked in we were assigned the wrong room, this was corrected. The pool was out of order and not disclosed until check in. Our room was okay. We did have to seek out coffee pods from the front desk and then the cleaning staff. We were told the supply of those didn't come in.
Booked a king bed a month in advance through T-Mobile, was given 2 queens instead with no discount. Less than 5 minutes in the room, the toilet overflowed into the bedroom. Refused us a refund and lied to T-Mobile about us notifying front desk
Pool was not open all 3 days of our stay, no staff to run the bar, free breakfast was inedible, there we holes in the ceiling and bathroom, no ventilation in bathroom so water drips from ceiling and walls after short shower, they were running out of toilet paper, towels, and shampoo, no hair dryer or microwave in rooms, front desk person was rude and no offer of reduced rate. I highly recommend you stay far away from this dump!
Perfect location for me during my business travel. Front Desk staff is always friendly and helpful. The rooms are quiet, clean and I have everything that I need. Breakfast has enough selection that it is satisfying to start my day.
The bartenders were useless. It took a half an hour just to talk to them. The pool was closed. When I asked about it the front desk was completely unhelpful. The keycard stopped working. I'm pretty sure there was mold in my room. It was freezing and I was unable to change the temp. It feels like a hotel from the 70s that was never quite updated.
Rooms were nice, quiet and comfortable. Everything smells clean and fresh. I did have to ask for some toilet paper because there wasn't any in the room and thank goodness I bring my own soap because there wasn't any soap either but I didn't ask for any soap. The place aesthetically looks gorgeous and there was staff everywhere so you didn't feel like you were in a horror movie. The water was nice and hot for my tea which is just something important to me. The breakfast was so-so but all in all for the value I'll give this hotel five stars. It was a pleasant stay. Employees seemed happy and all were super helpful.
Upon arrival Best Western had our reservation from a third party but 3rd party virtual credit card to pay BW wouldn't go through. BW response to us was sorry.. not our problem. Even though you have been charged by 3rd party either pay us again or go home.. 3rd party is your problem. We had to pay BW again to stay. Took a month to get money reimbursed. 2nd issue was when I questioned a $10 charge per person for standard BW breakfast now being called a "buffet " lady from sales made us follow her back to the area and showed us 2 typical containers with typical pre heated eggs and sausage and said here it is... very demeaning experience! Very disappointing experience overall.. my guess is this huge BW with lots of empty rooms is in financial trouble. We are going to increase the problem by never going back !
We booked a king, was told we were getting a queen. I said, I don't think we care. The guy then said, "I didn't ask if you care, that is what you are getting" Elevators didn't all work. Shower was a very thin line from cold to burning your skin. The room sink couldn't be turned to control temp or it sprayed water at you. Bathroom mirror was not even. Outlets not secure in the wall and pool was freezing and sketchy. But great location and we got a great price.
Clean room, sheets, etc. friendly staff, accommodating pool. Did not use fitness center, restaurant or breakfast area. Close to shopping and downtown Cleveland. Only slightly mild “issue” was I booked a room with a king and upon arrival they said “your double queen room is ready,” but they quickly accommodated me to an available king room.
The front staff, cleaning personnel, bar lady---all were friendly and worked very hard, but the circumstances they work under is not good. Cleaning could only give one wash cloth per room due to only one working washing machine. Lady in bar had to leave area to get a glass of wine for me. Overall the place needs to be updated. I will go back because of location--hope upper mgmt can improve situation.
Room was adequate for short stay. Room was clean. There was a good variety of items on breakfast buffet in restaurant. Air conditiining unit was quite loud when it came on. Water temperature was adequate in shower.
Just checked out this morning from this Strongsville Best Western, which was formerly the Holiday inn. We've stayed there several times over the years when visiting family. All I can do is give a snapshot of our seven days there. We got there late the first night because of a cancelled air flight. Checked-in around 9pm. Went to the room exhausted and turned down the quilt to find a huge reddish stain around eight inches round on the bottom sheet. That stain was also transferred to the top sheet. Blood? I don't know didn't touch it. Called the front desk and within ten minutes a woman came up with new sheets. She pointed out a few spots on the quilt as well and replaced everything. This was very obvious that these sheets were not replaced from the last occupant. Over the next few days we were finding cut toe nails around the room carpet and bathroom floor. Disgusting. This room was never vacuumed. And we observed many times when rooms were changed-out we never saw or heard a vacuum cleaner on any floor. And we were in and out of the hotel a lot. The next big thing was large towels, wash cloths, hand towels and toilet paper etc. You have to request them and they put you on a list. The first time was day three and I ended-up finding housekeeping on another floor and getting towels and toilet paper. I always give them $5 for their help. We "requested" towels again day five. Never got any. Day six requested again and was told one of there washers broke. My wife went tracking again and found someone with towels and toilet paper. This was the first time we got a new bath mat the second last day. And everybody knows things don't dry well just hanging in the bathroom. So dampness was terrible. The ice machine on our floor didn't work at all. Had to scope the other floors for ice. Wanted to go to the work-out room. It was 85 degrees in there. No air conditioning. The front desk listened when we inquired and asked for help but nothing ever got done. So the overview is poor customer service. Very dirty rooms and prepared improperly. Bathroom supplies minimal. The sink faucet leaked all the time. Broken ice machine. No work-out room A/C. We came in the back side door which is past the front entrance. It said you need your room key to get in the building. Never used our key once. Not even at 11pm. Security? We put out trash a couple times and was not taken. We bought our own Kuerig coffee because two at a time isn't enough. Just brought it back in the room and left it. On the upside the A/C in the room worked well and the shuttle guy that took us to the airport the last day was nice and prompt. This will be our last time in this hotel! Real shame.
This is an older hotel and much larger than we thought. Unfortunately for us we arrived when there was some ridiculous teen boy soccer tournament or something going on. Every room was packed and there was early pubescent testosterone everywhere. Not sure who won though! We had booked a double queen but ended up with a king with a pullout bed. That was ok, worked for us. Apparently there is a huge pool but we couldn't see it due to all the soccer players screaming around the pool deck. It's an old hotel that has been recently updated except for the disgustingly dirty elevator floor that remained that way for 3 days. Room was adequate. They need more help. Myles at the front desk was very helpful and obviously overworked. All in all not too bad a stay. No free breakfast, but I can't even imagine the complete clusterf**k that would have been. Clean and OK for Strongsville. Watch out for special groups as the next group coming in were some kind of car enthusiasts that took up an entire parking lot.
Dated property, where they park the BW van under the entry canopy which blocks things up. Friendly staff that were helpful. Pet friendly hotel, but guests let their dogs run off leash and urinate in the hall. Two elevators were broken. Breakfast is included, but limited menu with not much variety. Rooms are as expected. If you are looking for just a room, it will do.
We typically stay with the Hilton Brand hotels. Didn't realize how spoiled we were until we showed up here. One elevator was broken when we arrived. The next morning the working elevator next to it was also broken, stuck between floors with the doors open. None of the ice machines worked on any floor. There was a billiards tournament going on, so the parking lot and hotel was very crowded. About 20 people standing in front of the main doors smoking, ironically right next to several no smoking signs. Our room was okay, no microwave, someone's leftover food was still in our fridge, so obviously no one cleaned the room well. There was no fan in the bathroom so everything in the room felt damp the entire weekend. Even if you sat on a chair in the room, your clothing felt wet when you got up. Front desk and housekeeping were pleasant and helpful, but seemed overwhelmed with many guests in line to check in and a lot of people from pool tournament hanging out in the lobby. Honestly, it was just shocking to me how this hotel is managed. Reminded me of the spring break hotel we stayed at in college...yes, it was that bad. Giving two stars for the helpful front desk people that are doing their best.
A nice hotel with bed service and mossing emenities. The room is nice and clean but the front desk was not very helpfull when you wanted there help. A big hotel with many rooms and considerly cheap. Breakfast is not included. Not far from Clevland.
It's convenient and price point is good these days. The rooms were clean and ready - no issues. The ventilation is outdated, I think. Bathrooms have no vents and it gets very sticky in the room. Nice, friendly staff…lots of places to eat in the area (5 min drive max) if you don't want to buy on site. Also, strangely the hotel requires a $50 deposit (which they refund within 3 days if no issues).
Stacy provided a great welcome for us and helped us greatly have a great time this weekend in Cleveland. Usually checking in and most things with a hotel are a chore. Not this excellent establishment, thanks in big part to Stacy! We will recommend to everyone staying in the Cleveland area!
I don't know what hotel those other people were writing about. I found everything to be working. The man who checked me in was friendly and helpful. Checkout was very easy too. The room was spotless. The bathroom was very nice for the price point. The only thing I would change is that there was no microwave in the room. This is an amenity I often take advantage of for reheating leftovers from my meals. Also, there was no additional charge for breakfast as several other reviewers have stated. Aside from this, I will definitely stay here again the next time my travels have me in the Strongsville area.
What a horrible hotel. Sure the carpet is nice the floors look good.. lipstick on a pigs butt. Customer service: Non existent. Maintenance: forget it. Only half of the AC's work. The hotel access ac's not working is one thing. AC in rooms were set to 61 but rooms could not get below 72. At night when things were cooler room temperature raised from 71 to 75. Asked for maintenance to come and fix. They didn't show up for two straight days. When asked to move rooms was told “No, Maintenace needs to check it out first.maintenance comes makes it worse room was 72 by 11:30pm it was 78. Finally asked to change rooms. After pleading. Was moved to another room with the same issue. Room 71 then drops to 73 all night long. This was my first, last and only time staying at a Best Western. The plus stands for Plus we don't care. Plus we don't do maintenance. They should change the name to Worst Hotels. Book a room in Chernobyl before you book here.
I was not given the rooms that I booked, I was not charged correctly or given the AAA discount as provided at check in. The "Bar/Restaurant" was no more than a couple options, and no actual meals offered. The work out room was extremely dirty and only a few of the equipment worked. The pool was closed all weekend, the ONLY reason I booked this hotel. The hot water in the room was sparse if at all. Requested more towels and never got them. The woman at the front desk when checking out was very rude and acted like I was putting her out by requesting a receipt on each room I booked. I tried to contact the hotel management and the line is constantly busy. I also tried to contact customer service on line to get my issues resolved and have gotten not response. This is one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in.
Hotel exceeded our expectations. Just a quick stop so can't speak to all the amenities. Bed was comfortable and yes the TV was slow to boot up. Big deal. The hotel is in a very good area for restaurants and shopping. Would stay here again.
Not as expected for a Best Western property. No hair dryer, no microwave, wallpaper in bathroom coming off the wall, charges $10 for breakfast, say they will do a wake up call but it doesn't happen. We were told after staying the night that THIS Best Western charges for breakfast. We left!
Not friendly by far. No phone in room. Bathroom dirty, toilet paper roll broken, shower was a joke. NO HOT water the day we checked in, couldn't get a shower that night, not that we wanted to get in the shower. Let's not forget, pool was closed, no hot tub. Locked gate on the door. No apologies that the pool was not operational.Do Not Stay Here! Never Again. Should've closed down or tore down. We should have taken pictures to share so you know what you are really in for.
We were walked to this hotel from the Crowne plaza in Middleburg heights and they're not even a related brand. We go to check in, they give us a room and when we open the door the beds weren't made they were McDonald's trash on the floor and pretty much disgusting. We had to go downstairs and get another room and it was like we were putting them out to try to get another room. They commented that the person behind the desk was having a bad day, we were having a bad night so they just needed to suck it up and be nice to their clients. The room we did get was filthy, looks like they never dust anything, they don't wipe anything down, it was so bad that we didn't even shower there we decided to just get dressed and go home as early as we could. Would not recommend this hotel ever!
I had to be moved 3 times to get a room without a clogged drain/tub and hot water. Staff was not pleasant to deal with to resolve this issue. Third room the key didn't work when I went down 2 floors to find a working ice machine. Staff told me to pull up and in to get door key to work (!).Floors dirty. Heat on in the lobby and halls in a hot day. No free breakfast as with most BW Plus locations (all for that matter). Have had great experiences with BW - not this one.
Elevators, pool, laundry, and restaurant were all closed or down for repairs. The fire alarm went off we stood outside for hours without any notification on what happened. Staff were just as confused as we were.
We stayed for Cinema Wasteland show. Our room was clean and bed was comfortable. There need to be some upgrades made. (USB chargers, televisions) Bar/lounge area was nice but very understaffed for a scheduled convention. Previous restaurant remains closed, which is very disappointing.
The septic smell in the bathroom in my room was overpowering. It was terrible. The elevator wasn't working during a busy weekend with a wedding and other meetings. Not impressed at all with the quality of this hotel.
Hotel bar/restaurant staff was short staff while desk staff sat on cell phones. Pool was advertised and not available. Dirty room. AC not working. Rude staff. Tv remote not in room elevator needs serviced
The hotel is comfortable, clean and quiet. Didn't get to use the pool and the fitness rooms because they were still closed due to COVID. I enjoyed the stay as best I could. The staff was very attentive!
I travel a lot but must say this hotel stay had a variety of challenges when it came to dealing with staff. When I arrived, the front desk person could not have been less interested in welcoming a guest. She remained sitting, glued to her computer, while she was checking me in. I happened to have a gift card for Best Western I wanted to use on this trip, but she returned it to me saying she couldn't get her computer to accept it. So, I simply called customer service, they verified the card was active and said that if she couldn't get it to work she should call the number on the back of the card and they would walk her through it. I gave her this information, she tried again, then called someone (not from the back of the card, so she obviously already had someone she could have called for help!), and was able to get the card to work. There was an additional $52 'Arrival Fee' added to my invoice -- not sure what this is for and the desk clerk certainly couldn't tell me. This was in addition to the room fee and additional taxes added in. The next morning, I discovered the hair dryer was not working so called Guest Services. No answer, so called the front desk. They said they'd have housekeeping come by with a new one, and that did happen fairly quickly. Breakfast is not included at this hotel, but they do provide a buffet for what was listed as $12, but they only charged $10 at the door. The offerings were meager, the scrambled eggs were cold, juice machine not working (and no juices provided any other way). I had booked two nights, but due to bad road conditions on the day I was to check out, wanted to extend my stay another night. I called the front desk that morning (per the instructions on the Guest Info in the room), but was told they couldn't add another night since I had booked through AARP/Expedia! Even if they couldn't ADD to the Expedia reservation, they certainly could have simply registered me for another night, but instead, I went online and booked the additional night myself. At least they did let me remain in the room I already had. When I arrived back at the hotel that evening of the additional night I had booked neither of my room keys worked, so I figured I needed to get them re-programmed since this was a new reservation. Back downstairs I went (only one of the two elevators was working the entire time), to that unfortunate desk clerk from my arrival, who told me that the keys were working fine for her so to go try them again. I said 'we'll see' and she literally shouted 'that's why I called maintenance'! At my room, someone from maintenance was indeed there, and he could not get my keys to work either, so he let me in with a master key -- but no attempt at all to make sure I had a working key! Oh well, I was leaving in the morning any way, probably not to return to this particular hotel. I've always been able to count on the Best Western brand for consistently good service, and perhaps the various issues resulting from the pandemic are the problem here, but this was just sub-par.
Being winter you could only turn heat up to 66 degrees in the room. No blankets for little kids, had two 2 year old in the crib with no blankets. Room outdated. Super 8 next door looked better then this place.
-No rooms available when checking in with reservation. At 6:30pm, they were still cleaning. Waited over 30 minutes to get a room. We were not the only ones. -Staff overwhelmed and rude. Woman at counter told us that not being able to accommodate our reservation as requested was our problem, not hers. -Thermostat set at 68, but room was incredibly hot. Lowered to 50, but room "temp" never moved from 68. -Elevators out of service. The one that did work was terrifying. -Entire hotel saturated in odor of marijuana. -Bathroom water was a hit or miss -When checking out, no one asked how our stay was. Only words spoken by gentleman at front desk were "wanna receipt?" The cleaning staff was very nice. Front counter staff were horrible.
stayed there for a Hockey tournament, tub clogged for 2 days, thermostat started smoking then died, elevator got stuck 3 separate times w/people in it, cold breakfast no amenities, rude employees etc.
I planned a last-minute New Year's Eve Wedding/Gala 12/31/2021 and I must say the staff was impeccable!! I had the pleasure of working with Heather, Rich, Gaetan, Lynsey, John, Stacey, Lynsey, Cheryl, Meagan, Myles, and Brett! No matter what I needed when I needed it they were Johnny on the spot. They were very professional and pleasant our entire stay! I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to be treated with respect and kindness in a cleab facility. Thank you ALL for making our event successful! Robert & Denitra Hiley
The place overall is in poor condition. Theres a lot of stained ceiling tiles from water leaks. The ceiling in our room had bublled and flaking paint along with water stains. The staff was nice for the most part but the place is a dump.
This is by no means a bad hotel though it's age is showing and the situation with the amenities is odd. The rates are very good so you have to keep that in mind. Also, it's clear the owners are attempting to update the facility. The rooms and hotel interior are actually decently appointed, with modern looking furnishing. During out stay, we did not receive a lot of noise from other guests (though the resupply trucks were loud in the morning). But everything is clearly cheap. There were electrical gremlins, like lights flickering or not working as expected- the bedside lights alternated between only left on or only right on, and also came on in the middle of the night. I'm pretty sure the TV remote only works when you hold it at a particular angle while cussing at the same time. One of the elevators broke while we were there, though that wasn't a big deal as we were only on the second floor. What I especially found amusing was how sketchy the hotel is about their amenities status. The pool and fitness room are out of commission due to some kind of mechanical failure. I had thought this was a short term issue but looking at reviews here, it's clear this has been the case for months. But there are no signs explicitly noting this (other than a sign point out where the YMCA is). Instead the pool room is *barricaded* off like it's blockading a zombie outbreak. Bestwestern's own website lists a pool and gym available at this hotel. The whole thing feels like a weird cover-up. Lastly, turning left onto Royalton road can be a real PITA if there is anything more than light traffic. Staff is friendly though.
Quick summary: very clean, comfortable room with amenities one expects at BW properties. Friendly, professional staff. On-site cocktail lounge. We stayed one night in Room #533 as we headed back to the Midwest from the East Coast. As with many BW properties, the room was very comfortable and clean -- two comfy beds, good pillows, etc. Many of the usual amenities: fridge, desk/chair, coffee/tea maker, chest with 4 drawers. Complimentary wifi works well, and there are a good number of plugs around the room to recharge your gizmos. A gripe: I was delighted to see a bathtub (I love a tub after a long day, not just a shower.) Unfortunately, a recent renovation prevented the drain from stopping, and there was no stopper for the tub. Frankly, I jury-rigged the drain with some plastic film and the plastic soap tray to fill the tub, but it seemed like a cheap renovation to keep people from using the bathtub, and not invest in a nicer shower. The breakfast format here is to provide a credit toward breakfast, not the complimentary buffet that many BW's have. The credit covered most of what we wanted for breakfast pastries and very good coffee. A nice amenity: there is an in-house cocktail bar, and some bar-type food available. 'Nice when you really don't feel like venturing out, although there are restaurants not too far away in the area, especially Rte. 42 (Pearl.) Friendly, professional staff throughout. Excellent housekeeping. Seems to have good COVID safety practices. We'd be happy to stay here again if we were in the area, but hope for a bathroom renovation.
Let me start by saying the staff were very friendly and helpful, and the room seemed clean and the bed was comfy. There were some issues though. The hotel has definitely seen better days. You can tell they try and keep up with repairs, but it's overall a little dingy and run down. Wall paper is peeling, they're a random stains on the carpet that you can tell just won't come out, the caulking in the showers is a little moldy. Like I said, they're cleaning, but it's an old building. My biggest issue was that all of the amenities they advertise having aren't working or available. There's no working pool or workout center, the guest laundry was broken, and the buffet just wasn't happening while we're here (even though there was a printed out schedule of holiday hours, which is when we were staying). Because of all of these issues, I don't think it's a good value for the money and I would not stay here again.
Clean, friendly staff, and pet friendly! No issues with any of the details involving the room, price was fair and accurate...it helped we booked online and were able to read all the necessary information beforehand. Will definitely stay there again!
awesome and helpful staff! felt welcome when I walked in. Cheryl was very happy person and I felt at home. Thanks for a great stay? Small issue in room and was fixed in minutes, i will be back again. thank you
THIS IS NO LONGER A HOLIDAY INN. We had reservations and they never told us it was closing and we got totally screwed on our reservation with less than a week to fix it. Unbelievable how little people care about customer service these days. I'll be rethinking ever using an IHG hotel again.
Worst hotel I've stayed at in the last 20 years. Came here and found out the pool was out of service for maintenance. They recommended going to the rec center 1.5 miles away and paying $3 to swim. We were given a key to our room only to find out the key swipe did not work and had to be relocated to a different room. The room we were given had 2 queen beds (accommodations for 4), but only 2 sets of towels. Had to call guest services for additional towels. There was a hole in the wall and baseboard that was pulling away. Bathroom had been repaired due to an apparent water leak. Lighting around the mirror was only half lit making it very dim. We stayed the weekend and never received housekeeping service. Additional towels had to be requested. Hotel is in dire need of a complete renovation. Even the elevator sounds like it's on it's last leg.
Hotel was decent for the price. The decor was dated and the plumbing fixtures were chipped and unsightly. Staff was a bit slow during the check-in process. Bed was comfortable and the location was very convenient for restaurants, shopping, and accessing downtown.
Well check in was relatively easy the room was ok the annoying thing was the a/c was nosiest at night which didn't help me while trying to sleep, everything was closed so no pool which would have been nice to use. Breakfast was grab and go they have a nerve to charge you for a poor breakfast could have got better at McDonald's drive through. Bed was at least comfortable the bathroom well old and outdated.
