Nice, friendly people at the desk and bar. Room was spacious but dated and no aircon, even if not promised it would improve the sleep quality a lot. Sheets were clean but had some old stains in them. Because of no ventilation or aircon in room the smell of the room was a bit moldy. Whole building complex is old and looks to be in need of upgrading. Breakfast was very solid. Ok + in total for this stay.
We were here to attend a family party and the hotel proved to be a perfect home base. The location is perfect: less than 5 minutes walking (go up the path to the right of the red house) to the train station and through there, a small square with the Vivel konditori for sandwiches and pastry (fika), pharmacy/drugstore, flower/gift shop and a large Coop supermarket to get much-needed Swedish food to bring home. There's also an Italian restaurant on the corner. A train takes you to Stockholm in 10 mins, there are buses, and to the left of the station a really good poké bowl place Oh poké to take away or have a quick lunch there. There's also a forest nearby. The staff is friendly, efficient and forthcoming. When we came back and wanted tea, the night porter gave us a thermos and cups with hot water. When wit was raining, she opened the door for us to let us in. Breakfast has plenty of healthy and lactose free and vegan options. I read some reviewers were not too pleased about their rooms. We had a room on the fifth floor and it was perfect for us and modernised. We slept well and there is air conditioning. The bathroom might not be “design” but it has floor heating and a strong shower beam and a shelf for cosmetics and proper hand wash and shower gel pump bottles. It could do with a shelf in the shower though, for your shampoo and face wash. Two comfortable chairs, a desk with chair and a Nespresso machine and just enough space for our morning yoga. In short: good base near Stockholm, private and spacious outdoor parking area, outdoor terrace for breakfast in the sun and some relaxing in between. We'll book again for our next family visit.
I picked this hotel according to where I needed to be and for its great parking. The room was spacious. There was rather little room around the sink in the bathroom though. The carpets in the corridors could use a bit of a rinse. The breakfast was ok, the usual.
This four storey hotel was built in 70's or 80's, and since then nothing has been done for the exterior. Not too much for the interior either. Room was fine, although no air-conditioning. Shower in a bath. This is not a four star hotel, two or absolutely maximum of three stars. I would recommend to check Scandic instead. I have no idea where the royal star comes from. Perhaps one royal star means two layman stars?
Stayed here 4 nights while visiting Stockholm, much cheaper after a couple nights in the old town. Only 8 minutes to centre on frequent trains, we found the transit pass super convenient and hotel was only 4 minute walk to train. So, location is good value, room sizes were great compared to town centre, all hotel staff very friendly and there was a nice playroom for little kids. Breakfast was very good, enough to last till dinner, beds were comfy and large. Only downside, not many restaurants in the area (a few) and the hotel restaurant for dinner was mediocre, so much better to eat +10 minutes away downtown. But Willy's supermarket across the street had lots of food if you want to but snacks.
The hotel is a little oldish needs fixing. The recharging plugs are not conveniently placed. The staff was very helpful nice accommodating. The train station is behind the hotel takes about 5 minutes walking. 3 train stops and you are in Stockholm City center of transportation and activities.
Travelled with my nieces to go around Stockholm. This hotel was lovely, not too far from the train station and was easy to walk to and from the hotel. We enjoyed the breakfast as they have really nice selections. Would definitely come again.
Very enjoyable stay for 3 nights. Comfortable beds, pleasant room wth nice wooden floor. Very good, tasty, hot, cold and fresh assortment of food for breakfast. Easy, private parking directly outside hotel. Close communications - commuter train to city centre.
The hotel is conveniently located. It is just three stops - about 9 minutes - with the commuter train from Stockholm central station. Very accommodating staff and great policy of allowing guests to leave their hand luggage after checking-out. Perfect if on business or looking to tour the city. The room itself was top notch and came equipped with all amenities, including a pressing iron. An excellent value for money hotel.
Staff were welcoming, we had big rooms and clean with a free parking. We are a family so they connect them and the single beds were very large. Good to work, or for a stop for one night because nothing to do close to the hotel. We didn't go to breakfast so impossible to make a judgement.
I think my last stay here was way back in 2014. Since then it was like a brand new experience. More or less everything that wasn't that great before is absolutely fixed now! So if you are looking for a cheaper option to the bigger chains just around the corner, I can absolutely recommend this one!
The hotel is only ten minutes by train from Stockholm City central station. The stuff is great, they are very polite and friendly. The breakfast is perfect even with special Swedish fish food. The gym is OK, unfortunately the sauna did not work, but they tried to do their best. The late check-in is very good, and the gym can be used even after it. I recommend it.
The rooms are not fancy - but the important things have been taken care of: comfortable bed, clean, everything well maintained and a kettle!! (I'm a "make a hot drink in my room" kind of traveller). Good TV, good temperature control, and - again - everything well maintained. I really appreciate this level of attention to detail. The welcome upon arrival was excellent, the convenience to Arlanda Airport is fantastic (Line 40 and a 3 minute walk from the station, saving a 950 SEK taxi fare!!). There is a huge supermarket across the street called Willy's, so you can keep costs down if necessary. Every member of staff has been lovely, and so helpful. The gym is really surprising as well - they have really invested in it, although perhaps just having one treadmill could cost them 0.1 stars...? ;-) Then there's the food. Wow. Dinner was exceptional, and then breakfast was even better. And when I checked if my booking included breakfast, the nice man on reception said "everyone is welcome to breakfast". I am honestly very impressed by this hotel. And it is less than 20 minutes - from door to door - from Stockholm City Station. Brilliant, and thank you to the team who made me feel so welcome.
I recommended this hotel because of atmosphere, very helpfull staff. Maybe it is not modern design ;) hotel but really nice with very comfortable beds and good breakfasts. Staff at the reception suggested prepering lunch boxes for us because of really early flight. It was first hotel where staff asked us about this first. Everywhere I had to asked first. Nice location also, very close to train. We had car from rental cars agency and it also was good. Free parking and good way to the centre of Stockholm. Thank you for everythinf from our family :)
Walking distance to the exhibition which is an advantage. The staff are very helpful. But not satisfied with the room as they gave us a family room which is unappropriate for 2 persons. Bathroom was uncomfortable and not convenient.
Staying at this hotel for business with company colleagues I was treated very bad when ordering food my room. The waitress said it would take 15 - 20 minutes for the food to get to the room. After 40 minutes I called the reception asking what happened, the man working there, answered `How should I know, I work at the reception`. (There is no number directly to the restaurant, you can only call the reception from the room). I went down to the restaurant asking the waitress where our food is. She pointed at the desk, saying `There`. When asking why she did not come my room with it, she said, `I thought you wanted to come and pick it up yourself`. When I said that I had specifically asked for the food to be brought to the room, she became very aggressive, said this is the way it is, screamed at me and walked away - still not planning to bring the food to my room. Not `I`m sorry`, I`ll bring it up now, no apologizing. I was shocked. The attitude seems typical for this hotel. Will never stay here again.
To be fair my stay was comfortable enough but the whole place needs a facelift. Situated right by the side of the messe it makes an ideal place if your working there. My room had very few lights that actually worked and no fridge as the others did. You get free tea and coffee 24h/rs and also kettle in the room. Shower was ok. There is a reasonably priced bar situated to the right as you come out of the entrance, follow the bendy path to the main highway under the railway line/bridge and to the lights. Its on the corner and does a fairly good selection of food. Avros beer is 45 SEK for 40cl just under £4 at the time. Breakfast in the hotel has plenty to offer but its the same every day. All in all- a no frills budget stay. Had worse!
Very nice hotel with fine and comfortable rooms , super reception service and delicious breakfast buffet . Only 5 min. Walk to train station and 15 min to Stockholm central station and centrum. Good restaurant at the hotel and in the area around it as well, and of course a lot of dining possibilities in Stockholm centrum.
Great service, full breakfast, nice room. Close to central station by local train. Straight train line to/from the airport (#40). Exactly what I needed. Would stay here again in a heartbeat. Best value for your money, extremely comfortable stay as one would expect for a good hotel.
Our boat/ferry arrived at 7:30u at Kappelskar, after a 2h drive we arrived at the hotel. Luggage could be stored and a parking ticket was given. Tips for travelling to Stockholm centre were shared and of we went to Stockholm. Alvsjo railway station was ± 200m from the hotel, 20 minutes later we were in in Stockholm. After a long day of walking and discovering Stockholm with 30°C we were happy to arrive at the hotel. During checkin we got an upgrade of our room, we had a 4p family room with bunkbed (apperentley without ac), our new room had 2x2p beds plus ac! Thank you for that! We slept very well. The breakfast buffet was very good with lots to choose from.
Rather old fashioned but friendly hotel. The bed was very comfortable and bathroom a decent size. Breakfast was great and included in the price as was internet which was good. The train station was a 5 minute walk with regular trains into the city which took 10 minutes. Parking was free and right outside the hotel. A quiet hotel considering it was right on the motorway.
We stayed here for three nights. Accessible to public transport train station walking distance from the hotel to the train station. Breakfast buffet was good! Clean & quiet place with friendly , & helpful receptionists.
Stayed here because of the price and free parking. Was very pleasantly surprised with both the room and breakfast/restaurant. It was also a super convenient walk to the train station to get into central Stockholm.
We stayed here whilst attending an exhibition nearby, and to be honest, it wasn't half bad. It's not a five star complex, but if your looking for clean and comfortable, with good food and nice staff, you can't go wrong.
Very close to Älvsjömässan. Missing some amenities in the room. Staffs were very helpful and glad spirit, Breakfast was ok but it needs some improvement. Was dissappointed in the bathroom, no place for my stuff.
Trevligt hotell och personal samt hyfsat läge nära pendeltåget samt lokala restauranger samt mataffär. Bar I lobbyn samt mycket bra frukost. Stannar ggärna där igen. Nice hotel, staff and location, close to the commuter train to Stockholm plus restaurants and a grocery store nearby. Bar and restaurant close to the lobby and very nice breakfast. Will gladly stay at this hotel again.
For our few days in Stockholm this hotel was great for our family. We enjoyed the breakfast as well as the friendly & helpful staff. Room met our expectations & we enjoyed a good nights sleep. While the hotel is not located in Stockholm & situated near an industrial area, it is a short walk to the train station & a short 10-15 minute train ride into the city center. We would definitely consider staying here again if we come back to Stockholm.
My wife and I really liked this hotel. From the young woman who checked us in and suggested that the Stockholm Pass was overpriced but the Travel Pass was worth it (especially for seniors) to the desk clerk, Kleber, who acted as our personal tour guide, this place was a jewel. Parking is included, and it is 250 yards from a metro station. The ride to the central station is around 10 minutes (3 stops). The rooms are small (very European), but clean and modern. But the best part of this stay was their breakfast buffet (included with the room). It was fantastic - fresh, grainy breads, smoked salmon, herring, fresh fruit, eggs, sausages, cold cuts, cheeses, juice, yogurts, and much more. It really was a highlight to our two week Scandinavia adventure. One piece of advice - if you see roast pork on a menu, it's thick bacon.
I book this hotel close to a friend house and city in Sthlm the rooms are update the personal and the breakdast was really Nice, this made My stat relax for me and my family weekend I like the part where my dog could follow with us and the parking is big and has enough spaces to have your car close
It's near a railway station and very close to Stockholmasmassan but I see no other positives. It's an old property with minimum amenities (no safe in the rooms, no Klinex in the restroom, old-looking hallways and rooms, etc). Had I know this, I would have stayed at a more modern/upscale hotel.
This is an excellent business hotel 2 minutes walk away from the Stockholm Congress Hall, which is exactly what I needed. Rooms are very comfortable and staff extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast is great, and there is a lovely bar. An excellent selection of food is served till 11 PM if you need a meal, and is of excellent quality (steak was superb!). Sandwiches and snacks are very conveniently sold in Reception too. I would not choose this necessarily for a tourist visit to Stockholm, although the railway station with frequent trains to Stockholm Central Station is round the corner, so would be a very reasonable choice.
As a visitor, it's shocking that there is no consumer protection in Sweden, due to the lack of regulations in Hotel and Taxi business. Apparently hotels and taxis are not regulated so they can charge you as high a fee as they want! I am here for a major conference and the price per night is 2500 Kr per night ($310 US dollars) at the Best Western Royal Star. This is outrageous considering the normal price is $90 USD per night. This is not even a 3-star hotel, it's old and everything looks old and out-dated. Because of the tens of thousands of conference attendees in town, the hotels more than tripled the price just like that!! Wow. Even more unbelievable, this is a "group rate" negotiated by the conference organizers. Else where in the world, a group rate is usually lower or at least not higher than the normal price. But here in Stockholm it's just not the case. How shocking. I was also ripped off by the taxi driver from the airport since, again, they can charge you whatever they want legally. I did not pay attention and obviously got in one of those "independent" drivers and was charged more than twice the fare from airport to hotel. All of this really left a very bad impression about Stockholm. For a EU county where everything is so regulated, how on earth can this be allowed to happen? So consumers be aware, don't be ripped off as I was.
We were on an extended weekend in our own car. This hotel is located just off the main road and the railway, so easy to get to. Free parking. Polite and accommodating staff. The rooms are reasonably large and with a balcony, as well as nice and clean, however, the beds are a bit soft. Breakfast for everyone tastes and incl in the Price. The price level is average and a hotel that is recommended if you can do a little transport to City (8-10 min)
It's quite nice hotel for familly. We spent a weekend in Stokholm living there. They have very tasty breakfast and pleasent staff. The hotel is clean but some refurbishment would be a good idea because according to my opinion the last one had been done many years ago.
BW Royal Star would have been the perfect hotel if the temperature in the room would have been higher. December, 2 degrees outside, still too cold inside. But the look is friendly, the rooms well equipped, the breakfast complete, the staff very friendly. It is close to community train which drives you right downtown.
A 3 star hotel at best, no matter what they claim. Near a railway station but that is all. The staff in the breakfast room struggle to cope. Be smart and stay elsewhere. We find no reason to recommend this tired, dowdy property.
This hotel is perfect for families. Parking is free, rooms are large and modern and the breakfast is great. Hotel is quiet and clean and the staff is helpful. My only complaint is that I ordered a room with air-conditioning and on check in, it was not available. Pity.
We came as a family of 5 . The hotel is located just near the train station (5 min walking) . From the station you can go to the city centre (15 min.. ) or to Arlanda Air port. The breakfast is great (got everything) . The staff is very nice and helpful. Rooms are clean and quite. Recommended!!
This hotel is very close to the Train station as such very convenient to get into the city and back. We had booked two rooms. Rooms were good with basic room amenities and clean. The only down side of this place is the front office staff. They need more training in customer service. We did not have a good experience with the front office staff. we had sough advice for airport/ferry transfer and we recieved very poor advice. I was told of a minimum charge for a taxi to the ferry and had to pay double . (i was informed that the hotel has a special arrangement with a taxi company for a fixed rate). Nothing like this happened and I payed double. It is a pity for such a good hotel to be spoilt by poorly trained staff.
this hotel is an excellent choice. service is very good, breakfast as well. we had a big room and it was very clean. this hotel has free parking places and is located near a tube, so you can be very fast in the city.
This hotel was clean and the beds were quite comfortable. We booked a room with two full sized beds for us and our two kids but at check in they required us to get a 2nd room. Our kids are 16 & 20. But it was annoying. Great breakfast buffet. Seems to be typical of what we found in Sweden.
This hipster hotel is in a great location. There is a grocery store across the street and a train station behind it. It takes 10 minutes to the city centre! The staff is friendly more the cleaning ladies!!! If you have a car, the hotel is located next to the freeway. Super special breakfast is served every morning even gluten free!!! I loved the avocados with the sofa a-rosen! The sauna is also good if you are tired after a busy fair-trade day! The price was also a nice surprise! They also have a cozy area for the people who eat at the bar...
A very good hotel with a very helpful staff. Especially the night receptionist with the short hair (I do not remember her name) is very professional! A very clean and nice room and a wonderful bathroom! A very good breakfast! I strongly recommend it!
We stayed at the best western Royal Star Hotel, whilst we was working overseas from the UK. We was greeted by lovely polite staff who informed us thet we was too early for check in so took it upon them selves to find us a room which had been cleaned already and let us check in a room earlier. We had one twin room and a double room both rooms where to a high standard of cleanliness and very comfortable beds. We never had a chance to eat dinner in the hotel resteraunt as we was working that evening but we came back just in time to grab a couple of pints served by the friendly bar staff. After a beautiful night sleep we then got up had breakfast in the resteraunt area which is a typical buffet self service type breakfast which wasnt bad at all it filled a gap and got us set for our day in stockholm. Upon check out the staff at reception allowed us to keep our baggage in a locked room whilst we explored the city. Overall lovely staff Lovey service Lovely stay
It was my first time in Best Western Hotel company and I am really happy general. First receipts were really pleasant and know very well English. Downstairs is a huge gym. Rooms are not too small and smart. Breakfast is delicious and variable. And two disadvantages are that hotel is near highway and there is nothing to see around the hotel. Second is that during my breakfast employees started to taking everything from table even if I still eat. I know that It was a little bit after breakfast time but it not look so nice for me.
The hotel is a short walk from the train station and convention centre. The rooms are clean, modern and comfortable. The internet works as diesel the gym and sauna. Good beaktas buffert. It's a few hundred metre walk to restaurants
After a bad experience at the hotel I had originally booked for my stay in Stockholm I moved to the Best Western and was not disappointed. Clean, spacious and cosy with accomodating and friendly staff and great breakfast spread. Located right next to the station got a short commute into the city. Would visit again.
We stayed 2 nights and used the train to get in and out of Stockholm as the station is only a 5 minute walk from the hotel. The hotel staff are helpful and informative. The room was clean and comfortable. There was a good variety of foods for breakfast and the meal we had in the restaurant was very good. The only downside was that our room on the 5th floor was next to the lift so we had noise from 6am to 11pm. Don't go for room 500 as it is next to the lift.
This hipster hotel is in a great location. There is a grocery store across the street and a train station behind it. The staff are very friendly. If you have a car, the hotel is located next to the freeway. Continental breakfast is served every morning. They also have a cozy area for the people who eat at the bar in the evenings.
The rooms are clean . Breakfast is good . Parking good. Near by a supermarket. The stuff are kind and helpful . Location comfortable . We anjoyed it very much . The room are big enough . The closet is too small .
Spent one night with the family, everybody enjoyed the breakfast. Great preassure in the shower. The bathrooms are modern and nice, and the beds are wide and comfortable. As a "homebase" for sightseeing in Stockholm it is a bit far from downtown, but perfect for a "pitstop".
Nice rooms for family Good restaurant Playroom for children Big restaurant Friendly staff Free wifi 24/7 bakery Free parking Shoe polish Haeter and AC in rooms Hair dryer in rooms Kettel iron/press Laundry
Easy to find, WiFi works well and parking was offered for free for entire stay. Short walk to the rail station to go into Stockholm. Staff very helpful and friendly. Room was cold, no matter the selection of the temperature it was always blowing ice cold air - had to turn it off. Bar closed very early in the evening so it was not possible to get an evening drink. Found dried blood stains on one of the pillows.
It was our second time in Stockholm and this time around, we got our money's worth in our hotel. It's three station away in Commuter Train from Stockholm Central but it's almost half the price. The room is huge and the hotel is very kids friendly, they even have a huge kids play area. As much as we love staying in the heart of Stockholm, the value for money in staying in Best Western Royal Star is way too worth it to pass. The hotel complies with all the Best Western brand requirements - good location, easy check in/ check out, great breakfast, good room, free strong WIFI connection, minimalist design. This hotel has the cleanest bed sheet and blanket I've seen in a Best Western hotel, in and out of Europe - that's staying a lot as our family loves Best Western.
don't stay at this hotel. bad section of Stockholm, drug addicts and criminals all around the hotel. hotel security is a joke, a drug addict broke into my room and stole my briefcase, computer and credit cards. don't stay here, not worth it, stay at a hotel with better security elsewhere in Stockholm.
Absolutely perfect hotel with all facilities, the staff were kind and helpful to all customers. The hotel is so close to congress center as well. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. And there was a delicious breakfast
+ I have stayed three nights with my wife and little daughter. The rooms was clean and comfortable especially for the family. % The breakfast was not fresh and not warm enough unfortunately:-( .. kind staff.
Stayed there for a family visit nearby. The rooms are large and comfortable, very clean. Quite neighborhhod and free parking. Breakfast buffet had a great variety and tasty. Front office staff very friendly
Perfect for visits to trade shows at Stockholmsmassan. A bit dated, but rooms are large and beds are good. Quiet location, and a decent restaurant. Hotel bar is OK. Good selection at breakfast buffet. Overground parking available.
Stayed here for an exhibition in the conference center, just across from the hotel, very convenient for exhibition and rail station. Rooms were average and comfortable enough. Bathroom good size. Staff friendly, helpful. Breakfast was fine, No tea making facilities in rooms, but you can get a drink from the restaurant machine when you want.
We booked the Family room, which has a large double (King size- 2 twin size beds) and bunk beds. We all slept well. Nice large bathroom. The shower/tub combo had a set water temperature, so no hot baths; just warm showers, kids can't scald themselves. The shower didn't have a curtain, but a half glass wall. This did little to keep the water in and the cold out. There was a nice desk, coffee pot, table & chairs. Wi-Fi varied. Only 2 useable outlets....room needs more. TV was okay. Wetbar was in the closet & too small to use as a fridge (except baby food?). This room was very comfortable to lounge in at night; everyone had their own space. We enjoyed the resturant. Dinner has a small selection, but we tried the Fish & Chips, Swedish Meatballs, Venison Stew, Greek Salad, Caesar Salad, Hamburgers and found them all to be very good.....much better than any other hotel food we have tried. I had the Caesar Salad twice, as it was loaded with bacon, and I found the combination addictive. The breakfast buffet has a large European selection of meats, cheeses, breads, croissants and beverages. The other side has eggs, bacon, fruit, yogurt, cereals, seeds, nuts, etc. I found it to be a very healthy selection. The server recommended an excellent Gluten free bread for me, that was the best I have ever had. I would definitely come back, and we have already extended our stay. The front desk was knowledgeable, helpful and went out of their way, to look something up on the internet for us. If I could take a hot bath, it might get a 5.
We were a family of four on vacation. The hotel itself looks quite dated outside and in the lobby/breakfast room, but the bedrooms are quite modern. We had a room with bunk beds for the children. It was large and spacious although there was a bit of a stale smell that we couldn't figure out where it came from. The bathroom was spacious and tidy. There is a Nespresso machine, but only 2 capsules offered, maybe an extra couple in case you fancy another coffee. The breakfast was ok. I would prefer that meats and cheeses be in some sort of covered container. The pancakes were from a packet, not freshly made and the use of a communal jar of Nutella doesn't make for a pretty sight. Same goes for butter, jams and yoghurt. Individual servings would be more hygenic. The coffee from the machine was awful, which considering there are Nespresso machines in the room was disappointing. And the orange juice if you can call it that, was just like water. The location to the city centre is quite good, 4 stops on the train and the station is very close to the hotel. The area is quiet and beside an events centre. Would I stay again, maybe on a room only basis.
Great breakfast. excellent clean and newly modeled room! very friendly staff and helpful. would definitely recommend and go again, if no issue with taking a train for 11 minutes to center. price was also great.
Nice hotel just 1 block away, 5 min walk, from hotel to the station of alvsjo which brings you in 10 min. In the center of stockholm. Free parking place in front of the hotel. Free coffee and tea from the restaurant. Free wifi. Nice breakfast. Good beds. We recommended everyone who want to go to stockholm. Not to expensive. We had a 3-Night special booked at their site. Willy's supermarket at the other side of the road.
This hotel is a reasonable choice if you need a place to stay for a night for low price. The room was simple and clean and had all we needed. Since there is a big supermarket across the road and the hotel kitchen is open until 10pm, we were not really bothered that there were no restaurants nearby.
