Beautiful Pub, Food is amazing, I've been a few times for work meetings, unfortunately we will be using somewhere else in future. The service is truly shocking. One poor lady alone behind the bar, taking orders, delivering food, cleaning tables. Such a shame.
The Eccleston arms is a beautiful place very stylish. Afternoon tea is good. Unfortunately, on the day we attended there was not enough attentive floor staff. We had to ask for teaspoons, napkins cutlery & milk. Our table was set up when we got there, please make sure if your not going to check on the table regularly they have everything they need.
A fabulous hotel with accommodating staff. Great lunch and breakfast with the most fabulous selections of gin! Although we didn't eat in the restaurant that evening you could sense it had a great atmosphere for a Saturday night. Staff were keen to share their knowledge of the local area.
Went for a family meal we were served for the evening by Ella and Jess, excellent service,,The food was amazing all the dishes were hot and very tasty ;everything we asked for was promptly delivered, The girls were so polite and cheerful will definitely come back again thank you
Stayed in room 10 suite, stunning room a home from home with that extra wow factor. Very clean and well kept, bed comfortable had best nights sleep ever. All staff extremely friendly and professional, nothing too much trouble. Will definitely stay again.
This should have been a super wee stay over. However the room was a let down. Dirty bathroom, filthy towel rail, grimy grouting in shower, old pillow case in sink. Room had holes in wall, scrapedwall paper, dirty drawers full of dust n hair. Dinner was good, service was great. Breakfast was served by Clare who pulled the whole experience back with her smile and service. Cold buffet was poor, orange n apple juice, a handful of cheap croissants in plastic wrapper, no fruit salad or yogurts. No butter or jam, just a wee bit sad. Full English was nice. Perhaps if the manager spent more time over looking his hotel, rather than drinking at the bar with his mates, things would be better. Would not stay again despite Clares best efforts.
Excellent Hotel Wonderful Attentive Staff Great Food and Service Gorgeous rooms . Nothing too much trouble for the staff very helpful . Arrived late but the barman arranged for a meal for me which was amazing . I will definitely recommend this hotel and will stay again soon
A re visit after a bad experience. I gave a bad review after our visit recently. Ann the manager contacted me after the review, She apologised for our experience, it was a catalogue of events for that particular day, she offered a complimentary meal to us, we glad ly accepted. What a different time we had, the food was amazing & the staff welcoming & efficient, well done all the staff…. We will be back, Thank you x
Good value hotel. Staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms were well equipped and the beds are comfortable. Shower was good but bathroom needed updating. Overall all for what we paid it was good value. The food options were great.....no complaints other than they had been busy and were sold out of quite a few things.
Food was beautiful service was absolutely shocking. There was live music on in the courtyard and we given the option of sitting on a table near the music or further down the back which was less loud. We sat at the back as we came for a nice meal with family. Drinks and started arrived fine then we waited around 30 mins and someone cleared our plates and the mains came. Then after another hour and a quarter I had to go and find someone to take our dessert order. The dessert took 45 mins and then the waitress rushed off and I realised there were no spoons so then I had to go and find someone to get us some spoons. Then I had to get up again to find someone to bring the bill. I don't think we will be returning in a hurry
Came for the Bottomless Brunch with friends but have to say the cocktails were vile, they were just juice with a mixer no alcohol in them and sent several of them back - took the server 45 mins to get us a drink so ended up asking at the bar in the end - Won't be returning
Booked Dinner, bed and breakfast for 1 night as we had an event in the area. We got there very early for checkin because we had to be at our venue for 12pm. We had a drink 8n the bar and we then able to check in at 11am, so very grateful for that. The room was lovely, and immaculate. The inky issue we had was that there was a slight musty smell in the bathroom. We were room 7. Didn't bother us too much, but was definitely an odour for the whole stay. The evening meal was delicious and, again, the service was excellent. We both had a full English breakfast and, I have to say, it was the best I'd ever had. Again, fabulous service. Would highly recommend and would definitely return if we are in the area.
A great and Fabulous base hotel for our ghost hunt which was just 20 mins away. Very clean, friendly and excellent food. Claire gave us an unexpected upgrade which was amazing. Will definitely recommend to anyone wanting to visit Liverpool. Everyone is so friendly.
Went here to watch the football and grab a bite to eat. Just had the best mixed grill. Steak cooked to perfection, in fact everything was cooked perfectly and the plate was stacked! Staff were really helpful as one of the party has allergies. The picture is missing a couple of onion rings as the wife pinched them as soon as the plate landed!!!
This is a beautiful pub with the nicest staff. The food is gorgeous. Husband ordered a mixed grill and the steak was perfection. I ordered a chicken sizzling plate which was very tasty. I personally think The Eccleston Arms is the nicest pub in St Helens. Would 100% recommend.
Fabulous evening for a girls nite, having the bottomless brunch, Dean was the most genuinely friendly host, nothing too much trouble, super helpful with allergies, drinks selection was superb & the cocktails went down really well, thanks so much for a great evening
Would definitely return just needed a better hoovering before arrival as found a few hairs and dust!
We had a great time at the bottomless brunch! Sometimes these can feel like a rip off but this was good food and atmosphere and delicious cocktails. The staff were very attentive and Dean was a great host, very personable and made sure out drinks were topped up. I would recommend anyone to try this for a treat with friends.
Absolutely fantastic experience. Food is amazing and so well presented. Our servers Emma and Ann were so kind and nothing was too much trouble. Lovely environment and never been disappointed with the Eccleston Arms. As usual we booked a table as this place is very popular so always advise to book in advance. Drinks are well priced and service is very quick. Looking forward to our next visit. Thanks Emma and Ann. You made our family gathering amazing.
Thanks Ann for making our afternoon so special. Had the Bottomless brunch as a mother's day gift. The food was lovely and drinks flowed. Great selection of cocktails. Service was very quick such a lovely women, nice to get such good service. Thank you.
Absolutely fabulous hotel. Rooms were gorgeous and clean. Had a long weekend away. Perfect distance for Liverpool and Cheshire Oaks shopping centre. Definitely recommend you eat in the restaurant. Amazing food. Staff all really helpful. Clare especially was so helpful and pointed us in the right direction. She was very knowledgeable and recommended some fabulous places to go.
Came here for a family breakfast to celebrate Mothers Day and it didn't disappoint. Although very busy, the staff were efficient and welcoming. Food was good quality and plenty of it. We will return, this was our first visit and we give it 10/10
Stopped here a few times and it never disappoints, lovely breakfast served by the lovely Clare, beautiful evening meal, can't go wrong truth this establishment, bedrooms ( I've stopped in just about every room here and even got an upgrade to the best room once.
Had a lovely meal tonight with my husband and son the food was amazing and hot when it arrived where not kept waiting for drinks the staff where very attentive and friendly nothing was to much trouble Ann and Emma where brilliant thankyou will definitely be back.
We had a lovely mixed grill sharer. The food was absolutely gorgeous, very generous portions, compliments to the chef! The bar staff were also very friendly and attentive would definitely recommend and we will be returning. Thank you for a lovely evening.
We booked here after visiting last year. Rooms have everything you require to make your stay they are quiet even though they are above a busy bar. The bed was lovely, but the mattress was a little firm, which my husband loved, but was a but hard for my arthritic hips. The bed bedlinen was pure white and beautiful. The shower unit was a little tired and could do with a grout refresher. The staff are friendly and very helpful making the stay a wonderful experience. The food is amazing. We had a meal in the evening and breakfast before we left. Will be returning
Me and my wife returned to this hotel some 7 years after our first visit and it was absolutely superb. From arrival to departure it was fantastic. Staff were lovely, room terrific and the quality of breakfast was outstanding. It was excellent value for money and I would highly recommend if you are looking for a “high” end hotel in the area.
Wow. Never have I ever! Amazing! Great staff, very comfy room and when I said the night before I love Eggs Royal, which is not normally on the menu, they actually put it on special in the morning. Also proper orange juice glas size. Thank you Clare. The Best!
We visited here as a spare of the moment date night, lovely atmosphere when we arrived, warm, nice dark lighting, calm music, staff very helpful. We went for a sharing platter, it went down well. I didn't try any cocktails this time but i will give them a try next time. I would even try and bottomless brunch. Staff were helpful and always round. Sharing platter didn't disappoint. No complaints. Parking was easy too which is always a bonus
Best suite I have stayed in. It was a very large room with a proper seating lounge and a hugeTV that has access to Netflix, Sky, Amazon etc. The bathroom was beautifully finished and had a lovely rainfall shower.
Had Christmas Eve dinner here. It was very disappointing. I had nut roast with cranberry sauce. I got a slice of nut roast in a dish which was drowning in cranberry sauce and nuked in microwave. The roast potatoes were white, and I'm not sure they saw the oven. The roast parsnip was limp and soggy. Very disappointing. Won't be going back.
Had a great time at the Eccleston Arms Bar and Grill 's ABBA bottomless Brunch with best friends . Our server Jake was amazing ensuring that our glass was not empty food and Keirion Kenny the artiste was excellent will be back to do another one soon.
Loved it, great staff, nice decor, comfortable rooms with everything you need. Food was excellent in the evening, lots of choice and more imaginative than other menus at similar establishments. We had breakfast the next morning which was equally as good and plenty to choose from. I stay away two or three nights a week for work reasons and I'd 100% stay here again, in fact really looking forward to my next trip to this area as I'll definitely be staying here.
Afternoon Tea! Fabulous afternoon tea, accompanied by chips. I have coeliac disease and they provided gluten free! Highly knowledgeable about cross contamination! Itneas Delicious! Also the staff were super friendly and the building itself is beautiful.
The food was excellent and well presented. The staff were friendly and quick to help although as it got busier there didn't seem to be enough of them. The restaurant was clean and well decorated. The beer garden was lovely and the toilets were clean.
Intimate, welcoming atmosphere. The room was spacious, clean, quiet and the king-sized bed very comfortable. We were greeted by Clare who made us feel like old friends even though this was our first visit. On our second morning the Chef took our breakfast order and served it to us. How about that for VIP treatment (even though he was a Blue). We had dinner there on our second evening and the menu/wine options were very good. We chose from the 'Special Menu' both meals were excellent. Every member of staff served us with a smile and grace.
Excellent customer service and good food. Claire has excellent customer service and she is very attentive and very friendly. Also dean has very good customer skills too. Thank you very much for a nice meal
Excellent rooms beds were very big and very comfy had that apartment feel to it quite homely we had Sunday roast and must say was very good and to top it all off with quality breakfast in the morning
Whilst working away I booked a night staying here and was really impressed. Very nice decor inside and very friendly and helpful staff. My room was very spacious and was done to a high standard. A large bathroom and a lovely shower. One of the better hotels I've stayed in with work.
I recently had the opportunity at the Eccleston Arms. What a pleasure. I normally stay at larger corporate hotels but this was a refreshing change. The room was clean and well appointed but what made it were the staff. Each and every one of them were friendly, helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent as was the service. Would certainly recommend this hotel.
Great restaurant, went with my family to celebrate a special occasion. The food was amazing, I had the lasagne which was delicious. My granddaughters had the Cajun chicken salad and the chicken kebab. Both looked amazing too. Thank you!
Stayed at least 12 nights over the past month with more booked. Best place in the area tried several others. Food fabulous, rooms modern, clean and a good size. Staff are very welcoming, will do anything for you. Food is great price is comparable with others in the area but quality is better here. Dean the manager is lovely and try's to ensure service is to a high standard. Thank you see you again soon
Rooms are fab. Breakfast on the other hand is not. No continental available. Toast was over toasted and buttered for you. Wasn't asked if I wanted white or brown. alternative. No coffee top up offered, no jams for toast nor any fruit options. Today, no hash browns. As someone who doesn't want a cooked breakfast on a morning I was left without an alternative. We visit St Helens every year, first time here will be our last.
Amazing! This place is amazing, staff are really pleasant and helpful. They catered for our needs ( gluten free) Food is tasty and portions are great. Recommend trying this place and the gluten free brownie is delicious. Its clean and tidy. Beer garden is so inviting too.
We visited here for the bottomless brunch for my mums birthday and would definitely recommended. Service was excellent and Anne looked after us really well. As soon as our drinks were nearly finished she topped us up straight away! Really enjoyed it
Amazing food, staff really helpful. Nice clean pub. Can't fault anything. Good variety of meals on the menu. It is out of town for us, but it will definately be the pub we will go to for food from now on.
Visited with friends night for Xmas bottomless brunch it was amazing best we've ever tried Great choice of cocktails loved the very berrys Food was lovely lots of Xmas nibbles Thank you staff have a lovely Xmas
Waited an hour for our food , asked for a sirloin steak and a rib eye steak both medium. Food came and was proper disappointed, both steaks were well done. I let the waitress know i wasnt happy with the meal , and she did apologise and suggested to take away but seriously didnt fancy waiting for another hour for food. 57 pounds for 2 steaks, a j20 and a coke... Service wasnt great. Definitely wont be returning
Room immaculately clean, stylish, large and quiet. Food was delicious with lots of choice. But what sets the Eccleston Arms apart is the service: personal, so genuine and always friendly. We stayed three nights for a family funeral and the life celebration lunch was also in the hotel's restaurant. Everything was perfect and nothing was too much trouble - a big thank you to all the staff. A very special thank you to the wonderful Clare who remembered our breakfast preferences, organised the lunch for us, and made us feel so welcome.
I cannot recommend The Eccleston Arms enough, On every level it was a Fantastic Experience. The Room = beautiful , lovely bathroom, all spotless. I have to say the Food was Excellent, Food prepared and Cooked with genuine Care and Skill, There is Nothing perfunctory about The Eccleston Arms . Annie made me feel like one of the family, as I was travelling and working alone, this was greatly appreciated. ALL the staff are both friendly and professional. I'd like to take this opportunity, to say a massive Thank You to ALL the personnel. So many happy memories ! As I said at the beginning of this review, I cannot recommend The Eccleston Arms Bar and Grill enough, Definitely the Jewel in the crown of St Helens and Environs. I'd love to return! XXX.
Ann (the proprietor) ensured from the word go that we had a fantastic celebration for my father in laws birthday. Amazing establishment friendly efficient staff and outstanding and beautiful hotel. Thank you
This is an outstanding hotel. The room was exceptional, bathroom beautiful and just a really nice place to stay. The breakfast was something worthy of an award - no pre-cooked food here, everything cooked on demand and fabulous. I will look forward to my next visit!
A really welcoming hotel in St Helen's perfect for my business in that region of the North West. wonderful room, great service and amazing food a excellent value. This showed as was very bsuy with locals.
Took my 2 sons after going yesterday with a friend and second day in a row food was gorgeous I didn't want my sizzling chicken to end and my son loved the sea bass, like other reviewers say it is pricey but I'd pay it again because the food was that gorgeous, staff very attentive and friendly which was nice. I will be back again Thank you
A bit pricey but a nice environment with friendly, helpful staff and the food was nice. There were a couple of items not available but other options were offered instead. Would return for the lunch menu.
We visited St Helens for the 50th birthday party of a friend nearby. After a long journey from Cornwall, we arrived at The Eccleston Arms to a warm welcome from very friendly staff. We were so delighted with our beautiful, enormous room - what a lovely surprise! A beautifully decorated, clean room, with a huge television! After a very comfortable night, we enjoyed a proper full English breakfast. Really good quality ingredients, perfectly cooked. We were later told that the sausages are made by a local butcher to the Eccleston's own special recipe - really delicious, and set us up for our journey back to Cornwall. All members of the team at The Eccleston were really friendly and welcoming. A proper pub, with excellent customer service, great food and lovely accommodation. Thank you very much indeed!
Stayed in this lovely little hotel/pub stayed in suit 10 which I must say was beautifully decorated , went to Elton John concert can back late ,went to take a shower but unfortunately the water was freezing cold no room phone .so my husband went down to a young lady that was on the desk and told her , she said she was goi g to phone her manager , came back to room and got into bed ,at 12.45 a knock at the door by the same lady wanting to come in our room and test the water . At this point my husband was not very happy and said no I now how to turn a tap on and she left. Next morning went to take a shower and again it was still freezing. Went for breakfast, which was lovely , told the young man which was on duty he didn't now anything about it , he was very apologetic and took our numbers and email . It is now 1week later and still not even had a phone call or email from manager . We booked through Booking.com they have spoken to us and reported it , but still nothing .
Location, Great Accommodation, Great Food, But Most of All Management, Anne and Kate, and all the Staff. The Hotel is a very friendly place to Stay, wether it's for weeks, a week, a weekend, a night, or just eating in the Restaurant or a drink in the Bar all the staff just make you feel Welcome.
What a find. So glad I stopped here. Lovely room. It was a good size and all the amenities was first rate. Food was excellent, beautifully cooked. Great sleep. Felt refreshed and ready for my long work day.
AMAZING GLUTEN FREE FISH & CHIPS!! Lovely meal at the Eccleston Arms, delicious food and great service. Can't recall better GF fish and chips. Wife's hake, new potato and spinach stack was really good too. Restaurant manager was so attentive and made sure my meal was spot on - not gluten free by choice and that makes a difference. I'll be back very soon!!
What a wonderful hotel! The room was immaculate, the service was second to none! Nothing was too much hassle for the staff & they were very attentive and polite. The food is delicious & great value for money! The bar is cosy and very welcoming, a great environment to unwind! There were posters for great up & coming entertainment too, good variety! I will definitely book this hotel again :)
Very impressed. 15 of us at the last minute as another venue ket us down. Staff very accommodating and friendly. Food excellent. All had varying dishes and everyone pleased with their choice. The prawn sizzler was delicious as was the chocolate brownie with ice cream.
Food was delicious and there was plenty of it, there is a variety of drinks to choose from including cocktails. Our server was very friendly and helpful and she kept on checking if we needed drinks. Would definitely recommend and will be going back!
We needed a room at the last minute, what a find! We had been here for pub drinks in the past with friends but had no idea it's now also a boutique hotel. Absolutely loved the room, everything has been thought of, from amazing toiletries to the tissue box holder! The staff were friendly and welcoming, even though the pub was busy when we arrived to check in. We didn't eat in but other people's food looked great. We will definitely stay again next time we're in St Helens.
Great service, lovely food. Very warm welcome.More than enough drinks to choose from. Sex o the beach was very nice.....Will definitely be back and recovered to friends. Thankyou eccleston arms for a lovely afternoon xxx
Bottomless brunch was delicious, perfect selection of drinks, food was 5 star and staff/service excellent! Table reserved, ready and waiting! Can not recommend enough! Oh and the facilities and decor lovely!!! Looking forward to next time!
We have stayed at The Eccleston Arms quite a few times when visiting St Helens, and it has never disappointed, this visit being no exception. Big, comfortable bed, clean good quality linens and sparkling bathroom. Very quiet, with no traffic or bar noise. Our trip was made extra special by the lovely Claire, who looked after us at breakfast, so a special thanks to her, we really appreciated all her efforts. Highly recommended.
When for breakfast this morning, lovely hot food well presented and friendly staff including the chef Ste, great menu plenty to choose from, lovely clean room to eat in, great breakfast for the price.
Me my mum and sister-in-law visited for bottomless brunch. The service and food was outstanding. Annie was so helpful, kept coming over to ask us if we wanted drinks. I mentioned I don't eat meat and she got me my own vegetarian platter. Annie went above and beyond and made my sister-in-laws birthday brunch so special. Can't recommend this place enough. Definitely worth a visit :)
Booked the Bottomeless brunch in the Eccleston arms and was not disappointed. Great choice of cocktails and drinks. Food was lovely aswell. Anne's service was great kept us topped up throughout out with drinks will definitely be coming back.
Me and my partner went for a meal first we was stuck against a radiator that was roasting hot and asked to be moved as was only half full and after saying 3 or 4 times it's far to hot here was was moved .then ordered fish and chips for myself the batter was quick tasteless and the peas were dry like been under heat lamp .my partner had fish pie which came with half a carrot and a few bean shoots I think they was For the price it's very over priced and I don't mind paying for a good meal of its worth it .I had not bee. Here for a few years and won't be returning again . Drinks are very expencive also for where it is also I though
We had a lovely overnight stay at The Eccleston Arms. The room was spacious & clean. The staff were extremely helpful & the Breakfast was really nice fresh, tasty & served by a lovely efficient friendly lady. We would highly recommend this hotel when visiting Liverpool.
We have been today for the bottomless brunch as it was recommended to us on our last visit. The staff are always amazing friendly and your always well looked after we always enjoy our visits here Mikey and his team have been amazing today and made our day really enjoyable :-) I would highly recommend a visit at one of our favourite places to visit.
Had a fab time with my best friends at our bottomless brunch. The staff were amazing especially Mikey who was very attentive and looked after us this afternoon. The food was delicious and we also had desert which didn't disappoint
Clean, tidy and modern! Friendly staff and lovely breakfast ☺ Room was a decent size and a comfy bed! Slightly noisy in the evening but that was to be expected being over a restaurant and on a busy road. Good location, only about 30 minutes from the centre of Liverpool and within walking distance from 2 train stations. Shower could have been slightly bigger but other than that, really enjoyed our stay. Thank you ☺
great place to stay in the heart of St Helens wonderful staff especially Clare, who looked after us so well at breakfast food was very good and the service was the best. Great stay would defo stay there again. thank you
I have stayed in hundreds of hotels all over the world and this genuinely was one of my best experiences ever, the food, the staff, the attention to maintenance was so high, not one tile cracked or wall paper ripped the place is spotless not once in my entire stay was any staff member on their personal mobile phones ever throughout my stay which shown full dedication to the job and the hotel even the house keeping noticed i was drinking more tea & gave me additional milk without even asking so many small things which made my experience better i can't give this hotel and staff enough praise.
We stayed here for my daughters 2nd birthday for bed and breakfast. We had read the reviews before booking and were so glad the place could accommodate us. We arrived and checked in, my partner used the toilets and said they had CCTV inside the communal area but not overlooking the cubicle, can only assume they had had problems in the past. The room was nice and cosy, enough for us. The staff had supplied us with a small camping bed for our daughter and it was set out nicely. Unfortunately when using the bathroom there was a lot of black hairs around the shower tray and sink. It was as though the bathroom had been cleaned but then somebody had shaved their head in there. There was a slight smell of drains too but that seemed to go away. The shower cubicle was tiny, my partner couldn't shower as he couldn't fit in there comfortably. Im 5ft 5 slim build and found it very claustrophobic. Aside from the gross hair the room was fine. The room was situated at the front of the pub overlooking the main road, which is VERY busy!! The road noise wasn't too bad during the night and didn't keep us awake, what did was the swarm of cackling witches that appeared to be stood under our window. I understand staying in a pub you may expect a few drunken idiots but this was a Thursday evening and seemed to go on forever. The bed was quite clearly 2 singles pushed together, not a double as stated. It was rather uncomfortable so neither of us got any sleep. The restaurant seemed nice and staff were quite attentive. We ordered 2 main meals and a kids meal. Our orders arrived but my daughters didn't. I asked the waiter and he said he would check for us. After 10 minutes it finally arrived and there was no admission that they had clearly forgotten about her meal! By the time hers arrived ours had gone cold. I ordered the gammon which was nice, however missing the onion rings as stated on the menu. I unfortunately hadn't realised until later on in the evening otherwise I would have mentioned it. My partner ordered the salt and pepper chicken which he said was OK but nothing special. The staff did allow us to bring a cake through for our daughter with lit candles and supplied us with plates and cutlery which we took back to our room to enjoy. The price of the overall meal was average. The breakfast the next day was awful!! We both had cooked breakfasts. The sausages seemed to have been warmed up so were hard and chewy, inedible in fact. And the mushrooms had garlic butter on?!?! I love mushrooms with garlic butter but certainly NOT on a breakfast. Overall our stay was ok but we won't be staying again!
Omg black pudding scotch egg…!!!! I'm a chef , from Lancashire !!! My god that starter was tasty and cooked perfectly ! Loved the twist on it . Been coming for years but that was divine !! Well done guys and gals (I hope ) The big jug of cream with dessert was drunk nearly too . Lovely night . Thank you .
The room was amazing. Clean and very big. It was super modern and exceeded our expectations however was very disappointed on our arrival. Manager/owner was unfriendly and despite checking in over an hour after check in time our room still wasn't ready. Was offered a drink while we waited which we thought should have been complimentary but wasn't then no one came to notify us when it was ready. Customer service skills could definitely do with improvement.
Was in St Helens overnight and too the opportunity to stay and catch up with family members who live nearby. Upon arrival I was warmly greeted and from that moment on every staff member I encountered was friendly and super efficient, I ate dinner in the bar and breakfast the following day in the dining room and both were delicious, good value and catered for my vegetarian diet. I had drinks in the bar in the evening and this is a pub that is obviously popular with the locals, there was entertainment in the late evening and a great atmosphere. My room was spotlessly clean and the bed very comfortable, although a little warm for my liking. The location is perfect for town, has good links and parking was free and plentiful. The next time I am in the area , I will undoubtedly stay here again as it was so good, thank you
A great find. Evening meal was 5* restaurant quality - one of the best steaks I've had in a long time. Room was nicely appointed - boutique style and very nice (shower too small if I'm being picky). Breakfast - excellent again, properly cooked to order and a decent size cup of coffee. Great value too. Would stay again - in fact have already booked for another stay in a few weeks.
We had a lovely evening and night here last weekend. A wonderful welcome from the staff, and were shown up to a lovely quiet room with en-suite. The decor and style was modern luxury and the bed incredibly comfortable. The dinner menu was really extensive, making it super hard to choose from an array of tempting dishes! Very generous portions and reasonably priced for what we chose. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place, and the location is handy for getting into the city centre, as well as getting to the M6. Liz and David.
The Eccleston Arms is an absolute gem of a hotel, the rooms are Boutique style and immaculately clean. From the outside you can't appreciate what a beautiful Place this is but step inside and it's fantastic, the decor has some nods to Art Deco but with its own styling , well laid out from the inside with formal and relaxed seating areas. Plus lovely outside courtyard area . The food is fantastic, I have had an evening meal, breakfast and lunch here and all meals were great. Then there is the staff you simply couldn't ask for nicer , nothing is a problem from the minute you walk in. Clare even got me a cuppa and has my bags taken up to the room for me. My team at work now stay there all the time it's so nice. Well worth a visit for a stay or meal.
Rooms were comfortable, dinner and breakfast good. Jade was servicing on the bar, restaurant and reception - very friendly and helpful. Service was great, menus had plenty of choice for dinner and breakfast. Nice atmosphere, good food and rooms were comfortable.
First visit for some time but food was reassuringly good and was prepared and served at a good pace. Our party of six which included a strict vegetarian were all pleased with their menu choices and we were well looked after by our excellent server Amie
Visited for dinner on 29th July 2021. We had the USA platter to share. The sweet potato fries were over cooked, as were the chicken goujons. The onion rings didnt have much batter on them. The chicken wings were okay and the child's pizza was nice. We waited for quite a while before the food arrived too. To be fair Amie, the waitress asked twice how the food was but I don't like causing a fuss so told her the food was okay.
I came in with my partner passing through at Helen's . It's been my second time at this restaurant and to my great pleasure I had annalise serving our table. We had a small issue with seating which Annalise went out of her way to resolve ! She could not have been any more attentive to the table if she tried and did everything she could to make our meal special . Thankyou so much. even though we don't live in the area we will be making sure each time we pass through we will return . Thankyou .
A lovely, well appointed hotel with friendly staff. Breakfast is good, the restaurant is excellent and the service cannot be faulted. We have stayed here twice in 3 years, the standard is kept high, the rooms are well appointed. We were lucky enough to be upgraded to Suite 10 which is the loft of the less used section of the restaurant, huge. Quiet enough at night once the diners have gone home. We stayed the night of the England-Ukraine Euro 2020(1) match, lively enough but no real disruption. Breakfast and dinner both very good. Well worth a visit.
We ate here on Friday evening, I must say the service was good & we enjoyed the food but what let the whole thing down was the house wines they had to offer......the Manager & staff were very accommodating in allowing me to sample the wines but quite frankly they were all very poor to say the least & not wanting to spend £25+ on a bottle of wine which by then I had lost all faith in the wine buyer, I was at somewhat of a loss, having ordered the fillet steak I just wanted a half decent glass of house red with my meal !!! Come on Eccleston Arms this isn't rocket science get your act together........Thanks again to the Manager who saved the evening.
From entering The Eccelston Arms we were warmly greeted by Amy she looked after us / she was polite & friendly throughout our stay It was spotless & their was plenty of room between tables The meal & service was amazing & we'll definitely be back ASAP
Ann had a deserved night off, but boy, did we notice. Disorganisation galore! And we weren't the only ones to complain. The low point of the night was while the people in our section were eating, a card machine was shoved under their nose, and were asked to settle their bills. This, apparently, was necessary because, "People were leaving without paying and the losses were being redeemed from the staffs tips." As a result, the waitress forgot our order for food and we had to confirm our order with another member of staff. Which delayed the whole process. To top it off, we asked for one of our regular cocktails, which arrived, frankly, as a glass of sludge.
I visited here for lunch. I have to have a gluten free diet and the menu was annotated and our waiter understood the issues. Food was lovely and well presented. The restaurant was spotless. Our waiter Carl was polite, helpful and personable. A very positive experience.
Our trip to the eccelston arms was very pleasant and welcoming. Our service was very fast and polite! Fantastic, mouth watering food was served and a great experience for all! Our waitress was Amie and she looked after us in the best way possible!!
Arrived to the Eccleston arms as I had been recommended to attend by a friend. Waited 45 minutes for starters to arrive and then an additional 90 minutes for the main course, once arrived it was burnt to a crisp and inedible, the chicken was covered in curry sauce to try and hide that it was black. Manager did apologise but I feel this needs to be addressed further.
Amie was our waitress for the evening and what a delight she was! She was extremely friendly and shared the specials, which had us sold instantly! She was very attentive and made sure that we had our drinks topped up too. We will definitely be visiting again soon !
I came here for lunch with my daughter a few weeks back. From the moment we walked in we were looked after. Staff are friendly and attentive but not overly so. The food was absolutely amazing and has now become a firm favourite and we've become regulars. A special thank you to Carl for your excellent service, and for looking after us despite my daughters picky preferences.
I frequent to this pub alot and most times a lady called Amy serves me, always a very cheereful welcome and anything we need is never too much trouble for her, thankyou to Amy for always looking after us
Would highly recommend going to The Eccleston Arms for food and drinks , amazing service by Annalise and Lewis who couldn't do enough to make sure i was happy food was amazing and cooked to perfection ..I would highly recommend The Pink smash cocktail made by lewis . All the staff are very welcoming and friendly
We stayed here to visit the area in general and visit family. Our room was big, very comfortable and very well serviced by the housekeeping team. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice and flexibility within the menu. The chef presented the food in an attractive appetising manner. All the staff we met were keen to ensure our comfort and enjoyment. I would definitely recommend the hotel.
Came with family for our first meal out, was very busy. food was really good, any minor problems we had were dealt with quickly. Cocktails nice, Sophie was a really helpful and friendly member of staff.
Such a nice atmosphere and I was served by a lovely woman called Katie who accommodated very well for our wheelchair. She checked if we were alright send food was very quick. Soo nice to get out after lockdown and such a nice welcome
Me and my friend came for a meal for his birthday, we were served by katie who couldn't do enough for us the food was lovely and served quite quickly would definitely recommend and I will be returning again.
My local pub/restaurant and happy to say back to its best. Young lady called Amie looking after us and polite with excellent manners. Refreshing to see someone going above and beyond. Food and drink excellent. A1!!!
Katie was an excellent host, she was very friendly and welcoming, exactly what you need in a host. I would also like to thank the very friendly staff in particular “bandana” Amy, she made our night, also she has great fashion sense. Thank you for an enjoyable night as always Jonny
What's happened to this place ??? Been a few times before when working in the area, we were seated by a very polite lady who apologised countless times regarding how some of the people were acting in the seated area, drunks, swearing, glasses getting knocked over and broken, she kindly asked people to respect other customers only to be swore at herself, this place used to be a gem of a place to visit, great food, nice staff, now it seems to be ran by idiots who are clueless how to run a place, we saw at least 3 family's get up and leave before we chucked the towel in and left, I asked to speak to the manager only to be told he was busy, will I becoming back here again ? ? Not with the current way it's ran we won't, see my previous review on this bar then you may understand how shocked we were, no longer a place to take a family
Truly dreadful, hopelessly underprepared to do business post lockdown. 10 minutes waiting to be seated plus a further 30 minute wait for our first drink, then a further 40 minute wait for food that is barely average. As for value? £10 for a club sandwich. I understand that the hospitality industry has suffered massively because of the pandemic but ripping off punters after a long absence is not the answer. We could have complained but we had a feeling this would have taken another 30 minutes of our one day off. So we'll vote with our feet and never go there again.
Five of us had dinner here last night 18th Dec ( booked under the name of McKane) we were looked after by Jade who was fabulous , very efficient and also very funny and witty , she made our night , Oh and the food was fabulous as well
Visited the Eccleston Arms last Sunday afternoon (13 Dec)Had a lovely afternoon. Venue was compliant with all COVID measures and was very well organised. Food was fabulous, ordered the traditional Christmas lunch and the Seabass. Service was outstanding from the lovely Jade star waitress x
Well after our night out at the eccleston arms I am totally In Favour of a lockdown. Before I felt gutted for the food and drink industry but after what I have seen tonight I am appalled. We wanted to watch the match but knew we couldn't have a drink without a meal. From the same household wearing our masks and socially distancing we spend over £72 on food and a few beers whilst surrounding by tables of piss heads with tables full of drinks and no food. The same people back and forward to the bar with no masks despite a sign saying “no bar service”. When the football was over the Steve Prescott sports bar next door emptied out with lots of young people obviously not from the same households, very few wearing masks with no social distancing. As a health care professional trying to adhere to the rules I think what's the point.
Such a shame to write a review like this as we had really looked forward to eating here. We waited 1hour and 20mins for our food and then it wasn't even very nice. I felt it was also overpriced too. The staff were ok and the decor is nice but we would never go back here.
Never had a bad meal prior to tonight .. the complaint we heard from others was that they waited too long for their meals. The food that came out tonight was terrible.. it was sent back and still came back out bad . I fear something has changed and not for the better .. even the starters were sub standard ... will leave this place alone for a while..
Me and my partner stayed here last night. We booked the hotel on the morning as we needed somewhere to stay on the way home to break the journey down. The hotel offered £125 for a king suite, with dinner included and breakfast. We were absolutely over the moon with the deal and didn't know what to expect as we thought £125 for all of that was not enough! To top it all off the hotel itself is amazing. The room was extremely clean (10/10) and it has everything which we required. The rooms are spacious, modern and the beds are really comfortable. To top it all off the food is delicious. We had a starter, main and dessert. You get £20 off each for your meal. The £125 deal is amazing and definitely worth it- I am surprised they don't charge more to be honest. The staff are so accommodating and pleasant. Thank you so much for such a lovely stay, it completely exceeded our expectations and the deal which you offer is by far an amazing deal. We will definitely love to return to this hotel at some point. Thanks again, Lauren x
Had a great experience from start to finish! Food was lovely (pie was delish!) and staff were very warm and welcoming. Highly recommend. There is also a lovely little area out back to enjoy a drink. Will be returning!
Had an amazing experience. Originally went out for a Nando's but was too busy haha. Drove around and luckily found this place. Everyone is so lovely especially a young man called Alfie who has given me and my partner a 5* service. Everyone from the drink makers to chefs are amazing and you won't be disappointed.
Had a lovely meal tonight at the Eccy Arms,The food was good ,Large Fillet steak for me and a large Pizza for the wife and the Service we received from Katy L and Charlotte was truly 10/10 ,Looking forward to our next visit .
My sister-in-law and I had lunch here on Tuesday 11th August 20, we were served by Katie L, who was great and provided excellent customer service. The food was great and the atmosphere was very comfortable and friendly. We will certainly be back soon! Thank you Katie L
Amazing hotel with extremely happy and helpful staff. Dinner was first class and our server Dean was thoroughly knowledgeable and helpful. He recommended the specials to us and the duck and the seabass were to die for.
Ordered two takeaway roasts £20, what a mess they turned out to be. Nothing was hot and just a couple of things was warm within five minutes of picking up, black roasties, hard peas, rubber stuffing, rock hard undercooked parsnip, and god knows what that beef was couldnt even cut it nermind chew it sorry but won't be going back that's for sure. Ps dog doesn't want it either a disgrace!
Last minute booking to extend our weekend away. Booked as was a great price, advertised as a suite and quite close to Knowsley Safari Park. As the title says, it was a lovely sized room, with king size bed, a sitting area and a large TV. However, it was not a suite... by definition a suite requires at least a separated seating area not in the same area as the sleeping one. The room was tastefully decorated and clean with good toiletries supplied, in large containers for multiple uses. Three large towels also supplied along with a shower cap and the usual tea and coffee. Although at the front on a busy road, once the windows were closed there no noise issues. Didn't have breakfast so can't advise on that. We would definitely recommend but just be aware that they don't actually do suites.
This was our first meal out since the dreaded Covid started. It was absolutely beautiful. Restaurant perfectly equipped hygiene wise. No detail spared! Staff were all lovely, couldn't do enough. Food was gorgeous, Halloumi Salad and Sea Bass I would highly recommend. Thank you for a lovely afternoon, which was really needed and long over due.
On Saturday we had an amazing Afternoon Tea delivered by staff from the Eccleston Arms. It was magnificent, Loads of sandwiches packed with lovely fillings, eclairs, macaron, 2 huge slices of the lightest fluffiest most delicious Victoria sandwich cake, a jelly and 2 lovely scones with jam and clotted cream. Topped off with a bottle of prosecco. We were in absolute heaven. There was so much delicious food. Delivered to our door, what more could we wish for. Everything was super fresh. It was so easy to organise, just picked up the phone ordered and paid and that was it. Thank you tto all the hard working staff
Ordered afternoon tea as a surprise treat for friends' wedding anniversary. I asked for an early delivery time, so I could arrange everything in our garden and be socially distanced , The weather was great, the food arrived early and it was all delish. Plenty of it , fresh and wine too. Thank you Eccleston Arms
We had an amazing afternoon celebrating a baby reveal with friends and family. The service was excellent and they were over apologetic about a small mix up with meals....but was a non issue. Over 30 people were fed well and food was beautiful. Felt very home made and the chips were amazing. Very reasonably priced and we will definitely be back. Will highly recommend.
