When I arrived the front desk staff didn't know how to process a Best Western gift card. He called the manager and he told the front desk to tell me it was down. Room was dirty, sheets hadn't been changed floor hadn't been swept. Definitely wouldn't stay here again.
Never stay downstairs. It was awful. I asked for upstairs prior to my arrival.( 2 days prior) they didn't accommodate me. I had a kid running the floor above me. The floors are terrible to have to be downstairs. Breakfast was not what a normal best western has. Cereal and frozen waffles with bread. Oatmeal packets as well. After the first day we didn't eat there again. The front desk young guy was somewhat rude. Definitely shouldn't be in customer service. I won't probably ever stay there again.
Parking was terrible. People hanging out in the parking lot and balcony drinking. Homeless people in room next door with door always open. Bottom floor room was very noisy from people upstairs. No coffee available. No desk clerk at night. Didn't feel safe leaving my daughters alone in room or outside
Beware this location likes to charge pet violations after you've already asked in advance if ESA are allowed with a dr note. And the manager avoids you like the plague. Rip off. Also the bed was uncomfortable, you can hear everyone's conversations in other rooms and there wasn't enough continental breakfast both days I stayed so don't count on that either.
The room was very clean and not outdated. For the price the room was definitely amazing. We got upgraded to a hot tub room and we used it and the water temperature was great. The bed was comfortable and clean. We spent one night here and would 100% come again.
Always easy check in and out. Friendly staff and clean. I travel often and first place I go to in the area. Only thing bad is they sell it quick!!
As we entered the room, it smelled wierd and we had to prop open the door and turn on the Air conditioner to air out the room, at midnight, there were people running in the hallway and talking loudly, another hotel guest rang my hotel phone at 1 am waking me up and accusing me of being the person running around and making noise, at 8am a maintenance man knocked on my door by mistake and disrupted my sleep. At 9:30am I went to try the free breakfast, the frozen Eggo waffles were in a unrefrigerated enclosed shelf, and there were no more hard boiled eggs, and coffee tasted terrible. At other hotels the free breakfasts include fresh batter and waffle iron, bacon, sausage, etc, so this hotel breakfast was dissapointing. I had to drive down the street to get Starbucks & breakfast. Also the shower was missing the large bottle of conditioner. The only saving grace was the room had a mini refrigerator & microwave, and the bed was decent even though my partner did not like the bed.
We were a group of 9 in 3 separate rooms. All rooms were clean and everything worked. We had no complaints. Ample parking, nice property, friendly and helpful staff. Definitely recommend.
We (a group of 4 adults) stayed for 2 nights here while visiting Moneterey and Peeble Beach (17 miles): A 2-queen-bed room on the second floor. Pros: (1) Accommodation is quite pricey this area (Moneterey, Carmel, ...), and the nightly rate under $100 of this motel is attractive. (2) Close to Hwy 1 (but not too close to worry about the noise). It only takes ~ 15 minutes to Monterey (Fisherman's Wharf), the north end of 17 mile drive, and Point Lobos State Natural Preserve. (3) The motel interior is better than its exterior. (4) Connectivity and speed of WiFi are good. Cons: (1) The motel offers a free breakfast as many other BestWestern hotels. BUT, the menu is very limited and the dining area is extremely small and has only 4 tables (2 chairs each). (2) Front desk staffs are okay but not really professional. (3) No elevator for the second floor.
My family and I planned a little getaway to the coast during a 3 day holiday. Sure Stay in Monterey was the best decision we made. A wonderful surprise awaited us when we checked in. The hotel upgraded our room to accommodate the size of our family needs for free. Thank you for everything.
Pretty dated, but typical motel. Good for overnight sleep and alternative to pricier motels/hotels in Monterey which is about ten minutes away to downtown. Several chain shopping and fast food options within walking distance. Though traffic is heavy. Parking kinda tight. Room was clean. Refrigerator didn't work though. Can see outdoors through crack in the door. No safe or closet. But place to hang clothes. They did a good job utilizing the space provided.
Stay was amazing, Staff is very polite and helpful, Rooms was clean, Staff even asked why i was staying and gave me ideas to check out while in town Hotel is easy to get to off the 101 and is close to alot of attractions. Aquarium is about 15 minutes away and so is the wharf. It was lower price then other hotels in the area and it doesn't show. Staff is very polite and understands the meaning of having a carefree stay away from home.
It is hard to believe that this property carries the Best Western name. It was old, run down, noisy, breakfast was a joke - VERAY limited, out of orange juice, out of coffee, seating for 8 people max. Despite saying there is an EV charge on site, there is not one. Overall, an expensive hotel that offers very little.
We booked the King Accessible room because my husband and I both have mobility issues. The bathtub did not have a shower seat. The toilet was low and did not have grab bars near it, It would have been very hard for my husband to use. We asked for a shower seat. When the man at the front desk brought it, he told us there's another room with a rolling shower that would suit us better, but it needed to be cleaned. He gave us the key, and we left for dinner. When we got back, it turned out that the room only had a queen bed. The sink did not have counter space, and there were signs of cracking by the wall. I was afraid to lean on it in case it broke. The shower seat looked unsteady. We did not have a comfortable night on the queen bed, so we canceled our 2nd night and booked a different hotel. Also, the beds were extremely high. I'm short, and the bed height was around my hip height. Imagine having to climb onto a bed that's hip height to you. My husband had to pull me up to help me get on the bed. A wheelchair user would not be able to transfer easily. When we checked out, the lady at the front desk told me that the description did not say the king room was fully accessible. I told her it was misleading--every "accessible" room I've ever booked had grab bars by the toilet at a minimum. We were really unhappy with our stay.
The check in staff were great, very nice and helpful, answered all of our questions. The room was nice but could have been cleaner. We booked the fireplace room but the fireplace didn't work, they refunded us the difference in rooms which was nice.
No way to report anything as the 1 dude there has other things to do than sit behind the desk. Floors filthy. Towels and sheets scratchy and rough and generally not great. Bed was so hard it hurt to sleep on, it was like a brick wrapped in sheets.
Upon arrival, was given wrong room and entrance key where we opened into room. Luckily the people were clothed!!! We went back and there was no apologies. Husband had to use restroom and there was none he was allowed to use, so he had to run across divided highway. He was not happy at all!! The motel was quaint. Room very nice and clean. Comfortable bed. Room very small, had to move desk chair because if one was sitting in it, you could not get around bed to bathroom. Complimentary breakfast was simple. Waffles for toaster, cereal, packaged oatmeal. It fit our needs for good sleeping, but was shocked he gave us a rented room. Mistakes happen.
The hotel is located 5 minutes away from the freeway. It is surrounded by eateries and fast-food restaurants. There is a dollar tree store across the street and other stores along the way. The rooms are very clean, spacious, and the beds are comfortable. I will definitely by staying again.
My original hotel had overbooked and left me stranded at 1:00 in the morning with nowhere to stay I quickly got on my phone and sure stay popped up at the top of the list I called booked the room over the phone paid for it over the phone and within 10-15 minutes I was in my room getting ready for bed they saved me from having to sleep in my car it was clean the price was great I would recommend them to anyone
We stayed at this location twice throughout the week and during our second stay we had an upstairs room which was pretty small and lacked some of the amazing qualities our first room had! For the same price as our first room, I would expect some consistency in the quality of the rooms but the bed was comfortable, room was clean and location of the hotel was close to restaurants and stores!
I was looking for a staycation and seeing other hotels for $$$ and that this one had a jacuzzi also so I took my chances... and I got lucky! all Jacuzzi rooms are on the 1st floor and by the outside of it... yes exterior is fairly dated Once I entered and saw all bedsheets were white and jacuzzi was pretty big (I'm 5'2 and I was able to completely sink inside!) I felt a little better. Bathroom was a little bit older but it did its job Reading other reviews, I was one of the luckier customers, phew! I'm hoping I'll be lucky next time because I'd love to visit again in the future!
Everything is nearby. Costco, restaurants, Monterey and its sights, and shopping! The hotel is basic with a very basic continental breakfast. The shower was not hot enough and the CA restrictions on water volume makes it hard to wash your long hair. The breakfast included: cold cereal, oatmeal, toast, English muffins, frozen waffles, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, and apples. Coffee, tea, milk, and juice were available. The bed was comfortable. For a value motel, this was acceptable.
Where do I begin? Way over priced for the value, especially since there was no value. Hot water was a tick above tepid. The walls are paper thin, so I had to listen to a couple until 4 AM despite having to work at 8 AM. The bathroom is so small that you cannot shut the toilet lid because the toilet paper holder encroaches on the toilet The maid knocks on the door for housekeeping at 8 AM. But the worst part besides not being able to get online, is that a baby roach crawled across the desk as I was sitting there. So I decided to go to bed. Another roach was on the blanket. Needless to say I got very little sleep. The bill was inaccurate and the front desk person wasn't there initially when it was time to check out. The audacity to charge $200 per night for a dump. I'm not sure about naming this establishment SureStay. I vote for naming it StayAway!
Good value, especially considering how expensive the area is. We stayed at one other hotel north of this one and for an extra $150 bucks it wasn't that much better. Rooms are a little small but adequate. Having AC isn't always necessary but when you need it, you need it! It's close to everything including a great stretch of beach. That's the only drawback IMO. Rick, the manager represents the brand well!
We are a bigger family and many spots don't cater to us but here we had plenty of room and I loved how my husbands and I room was separated from the kids room with two beds in it! I enjoyed our night so much I had them extend our stay and we stayed another night!
I would not recommend this hotel. Issues with room were brought to managers attention and he wasn't willing to change my room or prove match the currently advertised room so I paid for a room with a non working fireplace instead of being moved to one with a working fireplace or the price being dropped down to a room without a fireplace
Please avoid this hotel at all costs unless you want to bring cockroaches home with you. We were able to get this room for $109 for one night during car week but once we complained the person at the front was happy to give us a refund so he could sell our room at a $400 markup. We feel bad for the next people that stay here.
Location on a busy street is not ideal for sleeping. The property itself is very dated. Noisy bathroom fan. Shower curtain from goodwill. Overall atmosphere was not warm and inviting at all! Overhead lighting was not comforting. Reminded me of a doctors office. No pool or outdoor space.
The 1st night our room had cockroaches. The water pressure was extremely low, maintenance and cleaning were poor. We were partially compensated and moved. The 2nd room was clean and newly renovated. The front desk staff was wonderful.
Rooms are huge and parking is free which is great we had 2 queen beds. Check in prompt and man very friendly gave us tips on where to eat. However there were people letting off fireworks at 1am in morning and woke us up sounded like it was in the car park and the air con is great but so noisy I've had to wear ear plugs. We were on ground floor you can hear people stomping in room above. Beds are not comfy at all. Was fine for one night but I wouldn't recommend a long stay here - we're leaving more tired than when we got here! There are food places everywhere in walking distance and it's only a short drive to Monterey/Carmel - ideal!
The staff was very friendly and accommodating! We hated the mattress. It was too hard and very uncomfortable. The breakfast was a bit lacking. The offered a lot of carbs of which I do not eat. We did have yogurt, tea and coffee. Thank goodness we only needed to stay one night.
This place was Filthy, cockroaches, rodents, in room, hair on sheets, unsafe, other guests partying outside and inside smoking Marijuana & drinking by stairs, loud music, slamming doors, my 11 year old heard people fighting using every curse word in the book, punching all while taking a shower with the window open.
This is a very clean older hotel. Nothing fancy. Industrial area. Worked fine for one night. Came to Monterey to go whale watching. Cheaper than staying on Cannery Row. Enough parking. Would possibly stay here again.
Friendly personal, clean and modern rooms. Shops and restaurants are only a few steps away from the hotel. Breakfast "grab and go" was ok, but in Germany we like to have an breakfast for example with a buffet.
The room was sub par when compared to the photos. There were dirty stained sheets and pillow cases, along with wet carpet. Trash littered the bedsides and the beds creaked with the slightest movements. The floor should have been hard wood and the layout was completely different. There was also no way to ventilate or heat the guest room so my family was cold all night long.
We arrived here. The area was concerning. We could see that very vulnerable population in the area. We went to the room. The sheets were stained, it smelt of smoke and the carpets were filthy. We went to leave and were told we would be charged regardless. We are now in dispute with Best Western regarding their policy when they have misrepresented their property
Convenient location.Clean rooms, but the street noise is excessive. Was told there was no breakfast because the room was too small. Any thing we needed was handled quickly and everyone was pleasant. Overall a good experience.
There is no Breakfast. The hotel looks nice enough for the age. It was reasonably clean. Some lights and out lets did not work correct. the hot tub had a notice from the city it was closed. We had to deal with police knocking on our door looking for some guy held up there. You can hear everything in the next room over or under you.
We switched our room 2 times because there was prostitutes bring men in and out of the rooms I means to each there own but it was very disgusting I had my kids around they were playing outside and they just kept having guys in and out you could hear them it was very gross. And the workers were very rude
We had stayed at this hotel in the past and it was okay. So thought it would be okay this time. The room was clean. The breakfast was a brown bag with only a packaged pastry and a Capri Sun drink pouch. We stayed at numerous hotels this summer and even with Covid-19 protocols a decent breakfast was provided. The main reason for a poor review is because; I gave them a BW Travel Promotion card at check in and was assured it would be applied to my bill. Upon check out I was also assured it would be applied. It was never applied to my credit card but they did submit it to BW and received the refund for the hotel. The hotel will not respond to my inquiries. I feel they are dishonest!
Overall, I had a great experience with the Sure Stay; staff was very helpful, and the amenities were great. The room was wonderful and clean. The bed and pillows were perfection! A perfect weekend getaway.
This is definitely not a hotel. It is more like a motel. I had the king size room and it was the smallest room that I've ever stayed in. The price is cheap but you get what you pay for. The place was newly renovated but no matter how nice it looks it is still small. The bed was the hardest bed I've ever experienced. My wife and I woke up like someone dragged us. The parking spaces are real small. I have a small car and I barely fit. Best Western needs to check their Sure Stay places before they bring them on as partners.
I booked the Queen suite through a 3rd party system and prepaid for it, there was a mix up with the check in time and I had emailed the property ahead of time explaining what happened, asking if I could check in anyway and pay a little extra if needed. No response. I drove almost 2 hours to get to the hotel for a last minute beach getaway and when I got there I was treated TERRIBLY. The front desk guy just kept saying they were completely booked, sorry I prepaid, there's nothing he could do and I had to leave. He wouldn't even let me explain the situation, or mention the fact I had already emailed the property, no he just kept saying I had to leave. WORST BEST WESTERN EXPERIENCE I'VE HAD. I'm a diamond select member and I stay at BW hotels quite a bit but I'm absolutely dumbfounded at the lack of customer service here. If there is a problem with the 3rd party system, fine but do not treat customers like that. And as the front desk person was shooing me away the power for the whole hotel went out, so this hotel has officially been crossed off of my list at places to stay at.
Good clean place by the ocean everything was clean dint have no problems and it's a quiet place to stay I will be coming back for another stay..... there is lots of places to eat around the hotel.... .
The hotel rooms are lovely inside and very well-kept. The beds, linens, blankets, and pillows made for a very peaceful sleep. Due to Covid, bagged breakfasts were conveniently available for "Grab and Go'. The hotel is located across the street from a gas station and there are several resturant and shops nearby. There is easy access to the freeway North and South 101.
I thought the value was great, rooms clean, however we had problems with our reservation and staff acted completely unconcerned and made no effort to remedy the situation. I expect more from this company m.
We booked this room for the number of beds. 2 rooms 3 beds each. When I arrived I waited about five minutes ringing the bell and even went outside the office to see if I could spot anyone who worked there. When I got back in the office the phone began ringing and the attendant Finally arrived and ANSWERED the phone. He started helping them before even acknowledging I was waiting. Aside from that I had requested rooms next to each other when I booked. When I got there it was like they had just read the request and couldn't accommodate…… so we get our two rooms and there were unidentifiable stains on the walls and who knows what on the window shutters. I had my Lysol wipes and spray waiting to go, but I was not going to touch whatever was everywhere. We decided to stay because if we went anywhere else we would have needed to get 3 rooms. The only upside is the location. Grocery stores and all kinds of food just down the street.
This hotel was awful. Our room was dirty and wasn't even up to normal standards of remodeling. The pictures and other reviews made it seem like a nice hotel newly remodeled but that was not the case. The spa didn't work and breakfast was pre-made to go bags with a kids granola bar, caprisun, and a danish. Our room was full of gnats and flies and smelled nasty. I can't believe this was actually a best western establishment. I think we would have been better in a motel 6 especially since we paid 146$ for this just to have the kids in another room. The other room our kids stayed in had no joining air from our room so they were freezing all night.
Booked via Best Western points. Clerk took more than 10 minutes to complete my check-in. First bill had $36.40 & I refused to sign since my reservation was $0 because of points (showed him the reservation on my phone). He had to call his manager & even with guidance, it was extremely slow. Finally, I sign the bill with no price on it. Also, the shower could only be turned to the half-way position so only luke warm water. The sink had hot water so it was not a shortage. I could only conclude that they did not want you to use up their hot water. Only saving grace was that the bed was comfortable. Definitely would not stay here again.
My family and I just had a very relaxing stay in Seaside near Monterey, California. Our goal was to have a great time by the beach to get away from the routine and we did. Thank you Best Western hotels for your wonderful hotels and staff. The to-go breakfast bags were a pleasant surprise to our kids.
First time that I have not been recognize for being a Platinum member. I can only say that culturally the receptionist was not very friendly. The room is exceptionally small unlike the majority of BW hotels and without carpet. Room was clean but there's repairs/upgrades that need attention such as a worn down cold faucet knob. Fortunately I had a plier otherwise I would be in "hot" water, ha ha. Two of the windows had no shading to keep out the morning light and the heater initially didn't work but after unplugging and resetting, it worked. Lastly you could get a shower from the bathroom sink from the water that sprays out even with it slightly turned on. The faucet tip needs replacing. Won't be coming back.
Stay somewhere else if you can afford it. Stayed here because it was cheap and an affiliate of Best Western. I probably wouldn't stay here again. Wasn't offered breakfast or told when to pick it up, the room had hard floors and any bit of dirt or sand could be felt with bare feet.
Here for Weekend getaway, this location is convenient and price is reasonable. The room is not big but we didn't spend too much time in the room anyway. The COVID breakfast is ok -got pastry, energy bar and an orange in the bag.
Finally able to get out to enjoy the beaches, and this hotel was an inexpensive option for our mini vacation. It was very clean, there are no extras but we got our money's worth. Breakfast was nothing but a brown bag with sweets, but we were there for the price and location.
The staff who checked us in did not wear a mask to prevent any spread of COVID. The room was small and the amenities were minimal. The room seemed to be freshly painted and maintained adequately. Too bad that the staff was not very welcoming.
The jacuzzi sweet was disgusting. The jacuzzi had used bandaid and rose petals coming out of the jets. There was mold in the bathroom along with by the towel rack where your towels touch. Zero care in cleaning and the manager of front desk person told me that it happens very oh well attitude about it. DO NOT STAY HERE.
I did this survey once already a day or two after my stay. Shouldn't have to do it twice. Stay was fine. Rooms clean & staff friendly, bed comfortable. Only issue was parking lot configured poorly. Not easy to get in & out. Needs work on parking.
Comfortable newly updated small hotel, nothing fancy. Parking was a little tight, place was pretty busy for a weekday, some big vehicles (contractors' trucks?) scattered through the parking area. Fremont street can get loud, we asked for a room on the ground floor away from the busy street and they were very accommodating. Room clean, felt comfortable having my elderly mom stay there. Beds comfortable, room clean, liked the very effective refrigerator/freezer. Room fan not too loud and worked well, bathroom was clean (my mother was somewhat disappointed that the bathtub could not be plugged for a bath). Lots of restaurants nearby (highly advise The Butter House for breakfast!) but the neighborhood is not the best. Felt relatively safe in the hotel grounds, just didn't appreciate the smell of marijuana through the bathroom air vent in the AM (probably from outside as all the rooms are non-smoking). Grab and go COVID breakfast just prepackaged pastry, cereal bar and Capri Sun drink, coffee is only in the room. Still beats Monterey price wise for a similar room.
Older motel in town and across the street from Taco Bell. Old scratchy towels - they need to replace now. Bathroom had nice new counter - sparkly terrazzo/quartz Glaring bathroom light around fancy new mirror - awful Spray nozzle for sink faucet and the sink can't be closed Huge TV During coronavirus said on web site there was a modified breakfast but sign on door said “For your health we are providing nothing”. The real reason no breakfast is they're trying to pinch a penny or two!!
Room 203 by the stairs. Price $58.50 We just wanted something cheap for the night. I always use Best Western because of a certain level of quality. I tried a SureStay for the first time. I get $58.50 is cheap but Best Western needs to drop this hotel or upgrade it. This is a cheap budget 2 star hotel (motel?). DO NOT BRING YOUR WIFE, KIDS OR FAMILY HERE. My notes from begging to end of stay: My wife and I checked in and headed to our room. Was almost hit by a white Chevy Tahoe that had tinted windows and playing heavy bass. He stopped at the corner intersection of rooms and got out and knocked on the room door. Someone answered and they were exchanging something.. hmm I'm thinking this is something out if a movie.. I hurried myself and wife quickly away to our room. I called front desk.. later we went down because we needed a fork, the guy said he is aware and they previously had been warned.. Other than that: Squeeky floor Old windows Cheap shade thing Old ac/heat No shade on window bathroom Crusty showerhead Hanging storage screw missing Xfinity TV freezes every 5 min Room by stairs is loud Wifi disconnects No breakfast even though site says so Housekeeping comes at 9:30 even though checkout 12:00
The customer service at this hotel is absolutely terrible. The guy working the desk has zero (I repeat zero) sense of what customer service means. Room was fairly clean but lacked toilet paper, but hotel was overrun by homeless folks smoking marijuana. Our family felt unsafe, and will never return. Will pay 15 more per night and stay at a decent place.
We paid less than $80 a night at this hotel and we were not pleasantly surprised how nice the room was. The bedroom and bathroom was very spacious! It's not a 5 star hotel but great value for what you pay for. The area is a short drive from main attractions. The parking lot was very small but it's free. Room had a fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. It was perfect for us just to sleep and shower in.
Hotel is clean and super affordable. It's only 10-15 driving to the nearby retail areas including convenient stores like Target. It's also a quick drive to the beach (about 10-15 minutes) and it's overall in a safe and quiet area. Most importantly, the bathrooms and breakfast areas were clean, which is important to us now now than ever. Most impressively the hotel is 45 minutes away from Big Sur, which is arguably the main attraction when one is out in Monterey. Would definitely stay again, the price and value is invaluable.
The staff was great and the room was certainly clean. My room was #127 and had a single King bed. The room was perhaps the smallest Best Western room I have ever stayed in. There was a table that was so close to the bed that you had to practically turn sideways to get past the bed to the bathroom. I stubbed my toe twice getting by the bed. Not to be outdone, the toilet was in front of the sink with just a bit over a foot between the side of the toilet bowl and the front of the sink. You literally have to side step to get to the sink to comb hair, brush teeth and such. In summary a ridiculously small room to try to stuff a King size bed into. They could at least use a smaller desk/table so you could walk by the edge of the bed. Not sure how they can change the bathroom layout.
When it became time to bring back my daughter to college, we immediately voted to stay at a BestWestern hotel near her campus. We loved the opportunity to enjoy one last day near her, and BestWestern provided that for us. From the friendly staff to the convenience of the location, BestWestern will always be our number one choice.
I came with my family for a four day vacation in Monterey. The room was super clean and comfortable. The interior design was tasteful and pleasant. I loved walking to the Beach from the hotel. The staff was super friendly. I missed having chairs and a table to eat and play games around in the room. We did that one night in the office / lounge. Highly recommended
We got to the hotel well after 5:00pm, had to wait 20 minutes outside for our room. woman at the front desk did nothing to accommodate us not even a late check out, only gave excuses. Room not clean, spa tub didn't work right
My family and my two kids ,we were visiting the area. I've always trusted ,Best Western for their comfort. This was our first here,it's very modern, clean and the decor is beautiful. A lot, of options for lighting in the room. I was glad, that there was a window in the restroom. The shutters on the windows, that was certainly an extra touch. The tv screen was very large in size, my kids enjoyed watching cartoons. I can't say enough about the bed comfort ,these beds are amazing and keep you warm. I like, the fitness of the mattress. There were two reading lamps next to the lighting by the bed. My daughter, really enjoyed them ,since she's a reader or just as a low dim night light. The staff ,where friendly and breakfast was a plus.
Great price and location for a hotel room in the Monterey area. Close to everything and easy access to the Highway. I was very surprised at the accommodations, everything seemed to work out great. The staff was more than willing to accommodate my request for an upstairs room.
Near to a shopping center and EV go fast charging station. Flexible staff Very clean room Daily cleaning is fantastic Breakfast is vey good to daily rate Big parking lot available all around Offer both points and a gift for members
We stayed there for our anniversary. I liked that it was close to everything. The room was very clean and I was surprised how updated the room was. I would stay there again. I am hoping to come back with our grandsons.
We stayed here one night. Facilities were not as good quality as other Best Western hotels. Rooms were clean but everything was cheaply done. My worst complain is the lack of sound proofing in the rooms. You hear everything from rooms above and around you, and from the hallway. The cleaning staff starts making noises around 8 am, yelling in the hallway. We did not get a good rest. Not a place I would chose again. The only plus thing was that it was relatively clean, and close to Monterrey.
needed room for concert in Carmel, everything in area was significantly pricier, but Sure Stay was clean - especially liked faux hardwood floors instead of carpeting everywhere else that is never really clean - with typical BW amenities, microwave & fridge, in-room adjustable A/C, breakfast (such as it was). in-room coffee undrinkable, but that in the breakfast area did the job. not much there, only hot food entree was waffle from ubiquitous machine, but did have fresh hot pastries from kitchen quite often, and good selection of bread for toast & english muffins, and others. What breakfast lacked in bread & depth staff tried to make up for in friendliness and attentiveness.
Our child is presently attending CSUMB and was her birthday. In trying to surprise her, our family decided to stay at a Best Wester/Sure Stay hotel nearby. We had a great time setting up for her arrival thanks to the help of the hotel personnel who provided us with more information about the city We were able to find the flower, birthday cards, and cake we needed to complete our trip goal --- to SURPRISE our college kid... Thank you very much.
It was nice and clean, decent size, we had a refrigerator and microwave. There are lots of plus to charge your electronics without having to bring the chargers just bring your cord. It was close to everything and a really good price for the area.
Terrible customer service, mediocre facilities, way overpriced. Apparently I accidentally booked two rooms online instead of just one. So they charged me double. I didn't find out that I was getting charged for two rooms until I got my debit card bill. They refused to refund the second charge. They didn't tell me when I checked in that I had two reservations, I could've used the extra room. Instead I paid more than $500 for one night in a room that was the equivalent of Motel 6.
Reserved one night and extended to 2 when we decided to remain in the area. Large clean rooms in very good condition. Great price for area. Refrig, microwave, continental breakfast. Eating area small. Did not use pool but looked nice. Many international travelers in August.
I checked in after booking the room online. The room was on the first floor and had a strong odor of paint. While in the room, there was a loud tapping noise coming from the second floor. I did not bring in my luggage, because I wanted to see if the tapping noise continued. It did, for 45 minutes. And the paint odor was overpowering. The location is a pretty run-down area. There is a security fence, but people on the other side of it catcalled me when I got out of my car. I did not feel safe. The front desk person said that the work causing the paint odor and tapping was almost done for the day (this was at about 5:15 p.m.). The front desk refunded me in full, after going back and forth. We are long-time Best Western customers, and this property is not a good representation of Best Western.
Using the app I accidentally made the reservation for the wrong night. When I showed up I was.told I was.a no.show.and was charged. As a platinum member I expected a bit of leeway for an honest mistake. the manager would not help me at all.I called BW customer service who agreed with me and also called the hotel to no avail. They would not even listen to the BW representative.Very poor PR. Now, the room,it was just a below.average motel room ,no carpeting,no chair, tiny.I could hear the people next door talking for.hours(not loudly the walls.were that thin).Breakfast was a.joke, no place to.sit no hot food, cut up.muffins, Apple's and.oranges. I turned in my keys to leave and requested a receipt- nope, only a mail.I will never stay here again.
This hotel is no-frills but clean. It is an older hotel that has been renovated. The room was clean, but you can see hints of the age of the hotel. It is good for the price considering how expensive hotels can be in the Monterey area. There was a good-sized mini-refrigerator/freezer in the room. The beds were a bit high off the ground but fine otherwise. The soundproofing could have been better; muffled voices from the room next door and footsteps from the floor above could be heard. There was a free continental breakfast (Costco-type items like muffins, yogurt, cereal, oranges) and a little waffle maker--basic and adequate. Parking was free. It is a 5-10 minute drive to the Monterey wharf area. If you are looking for a clean, basic place to stay, this hotel fits the bill.
Friendly staff, clean room ,good location as it is close to businesses, was a good place to stay. We were there for 1 night. Breakfast was okay as far as basics for continental breakfast are concerned.
I stayed with my family for 2 nights and the staff that works here went above and Beyond on accommodating us. They were very friendly. The rooms were Beautiful. The only issue I had with it was the bathtub didn't hold water for my kids to take a bath and they didn't have decaf coffee available at the breakfast (I can't drink regular coffee due to health reasons), and their was no kids appropriate shows on the tv that I would allow my kids to watch (but they have WiFi and we had our tablet with shows on it for them so it wasn't that big of a deal). Wi-Fi Works amazing, beds were comfortable, shower was hot, and they have refrigerators for food, so I would say it was a great stay.
Close to downtown Monterrey, aquarium and pacific grove.serves breakfast with enough choices ,BF room is small. TIP- consider taking breakfast to your room and eat at leisure.room with jacuzzi tends to look tiny because of jacuzzi taking up lots of space. overall the location is quiet. lots of restaurants, Costco nearby.closest beach is 1 mile.
We booked this place for one night and made the mistake of choosing the wrong date. They knew it was an accident and they made us pay $250 for the mistake. The hotel was full - they weren't going to lose any money - and they charged us anyway.
Room was updated, clean, comfortable and quite. Pricing is reasonably fair for the amenities provided with the stay. Breakfast area was clean and well stocked there was a variety of options to choose from. overall was satisfied with our stay and would recommend this hotel.
Remodeled room nice but old bathroom was in old run down condition breakfast was basically cold cereal and pancakes .I prefer scramble eggs and beacon or some type of food when stayING at best western.. property needs cleaning
In an effort to have some quality time together, my family and I decided to get away from the valley heat and head out to the coast. Bestwestern made this possible with reasonable room rates and comfortable room. We were able to enjoy the ocean breeze and make memorable family experiences. Thank you....
No thrills motel. Room was clean but small - I was placed in a Queen room with a Jacuzzi. The Jacuzzi took up too much space making the room extremely small and lacking space to put your stuff. Very close to Monterey ~ less than 5 minute drive
Our room was recently remodeled and very pretty. The bed was comfortable, it was clean and the bathroom was large. They had a pancake machine and other good breakfast items. All good except for the coffee. We used the hot tub and it was clean also. It is just a few miles from the attractions in Monterey
we got a jacuzzi room which was in good condition with modern interior, though the jacuzzi area in it seemed to be more 1960s with a baby blue spa bath and beige tiles which detracted somewhat from the modern feel of the room. Soundproofing from traffic was good, but not from above and the couple upstairs going at it like rabbits until 3 in the morning was less pleasant.choose an upstairs room if other guests might be randy and you dont want to hear them! It was convenient for amenities.
My family and I stayed here for a trip. Our room was dirty with chairs covered with splashes of white and red mystery stains ! The shower curtain had black mold on it too ! This hotel has a small breakfast room with three tables for all the guests ! It's just cereal and bread. It's not a low cost hotel at all besides its old, dirty condition! I will never stay here again ! Buyer beware!
Great location and wonderful customer service along with a awesome value and really nice rooms... three management was very accommodating for my large family while we were on this leg of our trip... thank you!!!
The location of the hotel was very good and near by Carmel, the ambient is very calm, the staff is friendly , and helped us suggesting a nice place to dinner. The only thing that i suggest for getting better, is the sound of the air conditionair and the temperature of the room, very cold and humid.
We took advantage of our BW reward and spent the evening in Seaside at the SureStay Hotel. Like all Best Westerns the hotel has been recently renovated. Room was spotless and the bed comfortable. Room even had a fireplace, microwave, fridge and coffee maker. The unusual experience was my wife's forgetting her iPad in the room, after checking out. We called the following day and was told it had been turned in to the front desk by housekeeping! It could very easily walked home with an employee but Collette ( our housekeeper) too the high road and brought it in. Restores our faith in mankind during these times of “me first and screw you”. Our thanks to Collette and yes we did express our appreciation to her. Thank you SureStay for your quality accommodations and employees.
The room was pretty clean and the bed very comfortable. The flooring is starting to lift in the room we were in and was sharp on your feet. Facilities were good The walls are not very well insulated and so it was quiet noisy Overall satisfied with the room
Great value for your money compared to many other similar quality hotels in the area. This is a typical Best Western quality. Clean and modern rooms. location is ideal too. It's just minutes to many activities and good restaurants are at walking distance.
Happy to find this hotel so economical and with good beds and best buck in monterey bay . The staff were so friendly and the kids like the variety in the breakfast we would definitely be back to the hotel when we are in the Monterey bay
The rooms were modern and the have good choice of breakfast everything worked out for us ... many restaurants close by in the walking distance and the beach was half a mile and there is hot jucuzzi to to chill out :)
This is one of the worst hotels we have stayed at. Smelly rooms that are supposed to be smoke free. Anyone with asthma should never stay here! Had to move to a hotel down the street. Air freshener does NOT help, room needs to be thoroughly cleaned! They renovated the hotel and had my original review removed, not cool! Also, not in the best area of town.
I enjoyed the location, and it was a good value. I was surprised there was no closet or rod to hang anything up. But over all it was a sweet place. In room coffee, microwave, mini fridge. Walking distance to a Starbucks, Target, Costco and other shopping.
I know most of the people who visit the Monterey Bay Area want fancy newer places to stay, but like 99 percent of them are gone seeing the area from Big Sur, Carmel, the Aquarium and the shops on Cannery row. They look for great places to eat and come back to rest up for the next day of touring. But this hotel is in a perfect location. Easing to get in and out of, quiet, local cafe and eateries close by that you can even walk to. Best part is its location and close to the main hi way to travel to down town Monterey Misson area, Pebble Beach, Naval Post Graduate School, Pacific Grove Light house and the Asilomar Conference and Beach area and don't forget Carmel and if you want its not far to Santa Cruz area to the north and famous Board Walk and not get stuck in heavy traffic in down town. Rooms are nice and clean and they do have some rooms with a jetted tub which are great after long day touring the area. The breakfast is perfect. Guys you can fix a tray and bring it back to the room for your better half and make her feel special. It's works for me! Have plans to return in April to enjoy the blooming flowers and the ocean breeze and great fish dinners and a walk on the beaches. Save your money and book a reservation here,
We like the location of this hotel. There are all kind of restaurants and shopping near by. There is a Costco within walking distance. The room is nice and clean. The price is very reasonable compare to other hotels in the area. The free breakfast is acceptable. We will stay here again.
I found this gem from my Best Western account and I's so glad I did! The hotel and guest rooms are freshly remodeled -- the rooms are modern, functional and beautiful down to the window coverings, and the amenities are great. Location is very convenient and easy to access. I was so comfortable at the SureStay and will definitely stay there again. I highly recommend this hotel!
Rooms look very nice in the photos, but do not be fooled. The walls are thinner than paper. We heard a guy talking on the phone and watching tv from 2 rooms over. Not pieces of conversation, the entire conversation. The bed was like a cement slab, and the bathroom was in a word "odd". The price was they only redeeming quality of this motel. If you must stay here, bring earplugs.
Rooms very clean and well appointed. Check in very quick and in our room in 5 mins. The only downside to this hotel is the WIFI very intermittent and very frustrating. Very little outside noise and you get a good nights sleep
We were very happy with our stay here. This is a motel, not a fancy hotel. The room was extremely clean and the bedding was very clean and comfortable. No trouble with the toilets. The TV was new and large, the WI-FI worked great and the breakfast was adequate. For the fair price of this motel a full course breakfast should not be expected. The highlight of our stay was the desk clerk, Deju. He was such a nice young man.
The rooms look nice in the pictures, and to be fair, the beds are very comfortable and the room looked as advertised. But the toilets don't work and apparently it wasn't just our room. When my wife reported that it had clogged, the guy at the desk said “oh, you need a plunger?” My response would have been, “no, you need a plunger.” But I wasn't there. When I talked to him later, he explained that he's just one person and the toilets clog all the time, he doesn't have time to go to every room every time someone's toilet clogs. He seemed to think that the problem was that all guests use too much toilet paper, not that he needed either a staff capable of fixing necessities that didn't work or having necessities that met a basic level of quality so they didn't require fixing. For amusement, there was also this disturbing sign by the hot tub. Don't want to think about whether this relates to the toilets.
Our room had obviously been recently renovated, We liked all of the upgrades such as the new television and the overall decor in the room. Breakfast was a delightful surprise with the exception of the dining area being a bit to cosy.
I would give this place 0 stars if I could. From the outside it looks like a cute, but the second you step inside it is UTTERLY DISGUSTING. I've never been more disappointed in a hotel ESPECIALLY FOR THE PRICE. It started with problems with our key. We had to try at least 7 keys until one finally worked, and even then we had to put it in and out 3 times until it worked. Second, the room was filthy. My feet got so dirty on the floor I had to wash my feet in a bathroom that was even dirtier. Soap scum all around the sink, blue coloring splashed up on the walls, tissue box had tons of watermarks on it, floor was literally black, sink was leaking underneath into the cabnit, toilet was dirty, gunk was built up in the corners of the bathroom, and worst the tub! The tub had dirt and soap scum all built up along it. The floors in the room were covered in dust, walls were dirty, and dirt was built up in the corners. We had to ASK for them to put lightbulbs in the lamps so we could see and one side of the beds electrical wasn't working at all. Third, we pull back the sheets to go to bed and they were stained. Dirty stained not laundry stained like they claimed. My body has been itching since we stepped foot inside. What drew the line is kids running around all the rooms around us, slamming doors, screaming, stomping their feet, and playing with balls at 10:45 PM. Walked right into the office and demanded a refund so I could go to another hotel, which I've never had to do before. I'll be waiting for the refund to go back into my account otherwise we won't hesitate to go further to the BBB. They tried to claim they couldn't give us one and once they did their “head house cleaner” gave us complete attitude. Great job at your “head of house cleaning” because you obviously don't know how to clean. Overall do NOT stay here. It's not worth the $200 a night they want to charge for a crappy hotel. You need to be detoxed once you leave. There's a motel 6 14 minutes away that is $100 cheaper, cleaner, better customer service, roomier, and quieter then this dump.
If you're expecting a romantic weekend in Monterey, this isn't the place. If the fireplace worked, the sheets were clean and there wasn't a thick layer of dust on the tv, then maybe it would have worked. We weren't looking for a 5 star hotel, but one that barely scraped by wasn't on the list, not in that price range.
In town for a family vacation with trips to the Aquarium etc.. Located close enough to be convenient without charging a fortune. Front desk help was very friendly and accommodating. Wi-Fi connection was solid enough to stream movies with only a couple interruptions. Skipped breakfast for the 50's diner in town, that was a mistake. Overall a positive experience.
