Best Western Salinas Monterey Hotel, Salinas

This is the BW that is NOT the Plus (that is 2 doors down the street). Check in was quick, friendly. Room was clean, everything worked (heat/AC, shower, etc). Bed was comfortable. Towels thin but for 1 night, no problem. 25 minute drive to Monterey for dinner. Definitely a good stop over to break up a long driving trip. And, Black Bear Restaurant just down the road.

Needs to clean the hotel and freshen up the rooms, the gym hours are horrible needs to be 24 hour, opening at 8am is pointless for working travelers. Having fresh hot coffee at all hours is a plus for this hotel, the breakfast was good the best part was the waffles, the rooms and carpet was not very clean and the rooms smelled. but the beds were comfortable and staff was amazing and nice, so thumbs up to them.

I've stayed at this hotel many times in the last few months while I worked at a local hospital in the area. The hotel is clean, comfortable and the staff is wonderful. They welcome me by name whenever I walk in the door and always make me feel like I'm coming home. The bed is so comfortable, they provide daily housekeeping services, the breakfast bar is great (hot food like eggs, sausage and waffles as well as tons of baked goods and other breakfast goodies) and any time I forget something they're right there to help out. I'm grateful for this hotel for making my stays away from home more comfortable.

Clean, safe, nice room, comfy bed, full breakfast. Front desk person was very professional and courteous. Holiday weekend rate price jacked up too much for a BW, but that's the hotel business - otherwise, regular price is decent for the area. Windows open, which was nice.

After staying next door then coming here I will not be staying elsewhere. Much cleaner better service and price. Seems more secure as well. They negotiated a lower price since our company has about 12 rooms a week.

my stay here far exceeded my expectations. After a long day of driving I got to this hotel and the front desk guy was so gracious and kind, I immediately relaxed. I had asked for an upper floor room and he said he was able to give me the best room in the hotel at no extra charge. I thought he was kidding but no, it was deluxe. Nicest room I've ever stayed in. Thank you !

Staff was super nice. Rooms were great and clean. The bed was very comfortable felt right at home, water pressure was great. Noise level was minimal. I will definitely be staying here again. Thank you !

We missed breakfast because it ends at 9am. This is the only hotel of 15+ on our trip that ends the breakfast at 9am. It's like they don't want you to eat breakfast there. Otherwise the hotel is nice but missing breakfast ruined it for us.

My husband & I moved from Los Angeles. We sold our house within one day on the market & needed to move right away. We were always looking to move to the Monterey Peninsula area. We stayed at the Best Western Salinas Monterey Hotel for 3.5 weeks until we found our new home. It took sometime but we finally found our home. The employees at The Best Western Salinas Monterey Hotel gave us 5 star service! We were treated with the utmost respect, consideration given the amount of time we needed to stay. The hotel accommodated our needs that we changed weekly as we weren't sure when we would find our home. They welcomed us & never questioned our time frame in staying at their hotel. Peter the owner and his son Jay gave us exemplary service. When we found out the hotel was owned by a family it made it more welcoming as families take care of each other as well as their guests. Perry was the gentleman that originally took our reservation. He was kind & understood our needs & our situation. Rosa the housekeeper was such a kind hearted, hard working woman. We made sure we thanked her appropriately. My husband & I have worked in the hotel, hospitality industry & we know how guests can be too often enough. When you stay at a hotel for as long as we did we got to know certain staff members a little bit as they got to know us. We highly recommend this hotel. It may not be a 5 star hotel but the service, kindness, consideration, respect we received from the employees mentioned above was 5 star! The value for what we received was by far worth it! The rooms were kept so clean & the front area of the hotel was impressive! The lawn was meticulously maintained & we always felt secure & safe as the hotel also has security there nightly making sure the property was looked after. My husband & I highly recommend staying here. We love the Best Western brand & by far this was the best property we've ever had the pleasure of living in for 3.5 weeks. Well worth the value! When I called the local front desk asking for a room for the night I was quickly dismissed with a “We have no available rooms” so I went online to Beat Western site and was able to get any type of room I wanted for a reasonable price so I booked it online and came in. There were bed bugs in my bed and I informed the front desk of it as well as pulled the bedding up to show the housekeeping staff the dead bed bugs and residue feces from them. My roommate did not have any in her bed that was next to me. Normally they would be in both beds if it's a problem so the mattress must have either been brought in or my roommate may have. Since we were traveling and she was driving all day long I didn't want to wake her up (otherwise I would have requested another room) it was a miserable experience all night long. The A/C unit kept shutting off all night due to its being hooked up to motion sensor for activation. However, once you go to bed you no longer have the movement so it kept shutting completely off. I had to get out of bed literally 8-10 times just to turn it back on. Between the heat in the room and the bedbugs in my bed, I was very uncomfortable all night long and got almost no sleep all night. When I checked into my room (after paying online $170 online on my Discover card) I was informed I had no choice but to give them another $200 that was going to be charged to my credit card for any amenities purchased. I knew there were none to purchase so I asked if I could not do that. He told me unfortunately other guests have damaged the rooms or stolen items and so now they have to charge my card$200 (which was more than the cost of the rate of the room). I said there was no mention of this on the website where I purchased my room directly. Thankfully, I had enough room on my card to handle an additional $200 charge. He assured me I would get it back after they determine I left the room in good condition. I don't think they should actually charge you the $200 but rather simply authorize the availability of funds. Simply because it takes several days to a week for many banks to reimburse the credit of funds. I informed he gentleman at the front desk about the bed bugs and he did not offer to make anything right at all with the charges after learning of the bedbugs. And he quickly gave me my receipt saying“Thank you for staying with us” Mind you, this was not the same gentleman that was at the front desk from the night before but his father I'm told.

It is difficult to find a good place to stay for the weekend in this area. But we found it in Salinas. It was clean, quiet and a good area of town. Weekend weather was cool which is what we were hoping for. We will be back

The reception staff was great! Super friendly and helpful in explaining all aspects of the hotel. The property is literally next to McDonalds and In and Out and the parking lot can get quite crowded. Parking can be hard to find due to the adjacent restaurants. The hotel is right next to the freeway but the noise was not a big issue for us. The room was clean and tidy upon our initial arrival. The hot morning breakfast was as it was pre-COVID, which was nice. Hot eggs, sausage, waffles, etc. My only negative on this stay is that our room was not made up on our 3rd day. We left the room for the day at 9 a.m. and returned around 8 p.m. to no housekeeping service. The reception staff did come up and deliver clean towels upon being notified. We would definitely consider this property again if we're in this area.

This hotel is right next to the highway - I mean right next to it! It also shares the parking lot with the McDonalds next door and is sandwiched between it and another hotel. Between the highway noise and listening to cars idling in the drive through of McDonalds and the randoms partying in the parking lot, this place was miserable. Also, the faucet in the shower was running 24/7 and the front desk refused to fix it. If you stay here, get a room on the far side of the hotel away from the highway, it might be better.

Don't bother getting an expensive or high-end hotel in or around Monterey/Moss Landing/Salinas/Santa Cruz/Carmel - they don't have free breakfast, they are packed, they are too expensive, and there's no parking! This hotel's services super exceeded my expectations. All employees are friendly and nice. The place is clean and organized. Overall, very great experience. Will definitely use this hotel again for future vacations.

Located right off the 101 freeway. McDonald's and In-N-Out Burger right there. Super Quiet Hotel. Super Clean since we stayed 5/12/21 to 5/14/21. No Hot Breakfast due to Covid but they did offer a "Grab n Go" Bag consisting of a Banana, Danish, Granola bar and a bottle of water. Coffee and Juice were served also. Pool area was also closed due to Covid but expected for safety of others. Very Happy of our Stay!!

This hotel is very nice. It is just off the freeway and located right next to McDonald's and In & Out but no need to go find breakfast as they have a breakfast in a bag with a fruit, danish, granola bar and the juice bar is open 24 hrs. they also have an room coffee maker. Everything was beyond what we expected. the beds were comfy and everything was clean and we felt very safe here. Yvonne on the night shift was very accommodating and was able to work things out after I changed out stay and then had to change it back later that day.

Quick check in, friendly staff and great rooms. Bed is a little on hard side super quiet. It was sold out on my stay and absolutely no noise. Not even from the parking lot which shares with McDonald's

The reason I stayed was because I had to drive up 2 hours to take my brother to the hospital. The lady and gentleman receptionist were very kind and went out of their way which made me feel cared for. I really appreciate their kindness. The room was clean and private. I'd like to thank them for what they do.

Spent nights in two different rooms and found both to be very clean, with large bathrooms, comfortable beds, and quiet rooms. Even though my rooms both faced the McDonalds next door, I was not disturbed. A nice bonus: the site keeps the juice and coffee machine on at all times, for those times you want some coffee or juice. No breakfast due to Covid, but they do offer a bag breakfast with a sweet roll, banana, water bottle, and energy bar. Not as good as a hot meal, but it is what can be done. I had no complaints

I'm an often guest at Best Western Hotels. I was specially impressed with the Best Western Salinas Monterey Hotel since the first time I tried. Very Professional and helpful staff, cozy and clean rooms, always feel safe at the hotel. As a loyal BW member, always got upgraded to a suite.

As a BW Diamond, was originally upgraded to a suite by the stodgy old front desk manager but it was facing a super busy drive through and the highway as well as having someone with a pretty heavy foot above me. As a solo traveler I'd rather have peace and quiet than a large room. Requested to change and they moved me to my requested 3rd floor but with two beds right outside the elevator. Quieter, but throughout the night and the early morning there was noise due to thin walls, people talking near the elevator, etc. Rooms are standard BW, but the TV remote didn't work, and the wifi was a bit slow at night. There was also a faint but noticeable smell of cigarettes in the bathroom when you turn on the bathroom vent. Either this was recently a smoking hotel with interior smoke leftover through the system, or some of the previous inhabitants were smokers who didn't bother to go outside. You might as well save half the money and stay at the Motel 6 next door which would probably be at similar levels.

The room was spacious and clean. Larry was especially helpful and I felt taken care of. He was like a protective Dad. I was impressed with the welcome and the overall service. I stayed on the third floor and had a large room (Non-Smoking King size).

Nice hotel clean room. They put everything every day. Excellent staff service. Good average breakfast, but same things every day. No business center, but you can send email to front desk for them to print. Average price.

Larry was extremely nice at check in and even gave me a free upgrade to a suite. The room was very spacious and clean. Breakfast included and free parking is a plus. Also there is a McDonalds practically in the parking lot. Definitely recommend.

Heading back to Oregon from Disneyland heading 101 found this president themed place. Hotel was clean. The receptionist Ernie made are check in very pleasant by joking with us a bit. Nice location with McDonald's next door.

For everything that matters in a basic hotel stay, this Best Western property was just fine. All of the hotel staff members were friendly throughout our stay. The room was clean, quiet, and comfortable, and it had a definite no frills décor to it. No issues, no problems, no complaints here.

We were in town for a youth baseball tournament. BW was only a few minutes away from the fields, so the location was very convenient. The room was clean, quiet, and comfortable. The staff was helpful and courteous. They boys liked the breakfast selection and that In'N Out was in the parking lot. I would definitely stay here again if we return to the area.

Another great stay at a BW. Was surprised to be upgraded to an awesome room. the people we met who worked the check in and the breakfast lady were super friendly and helpful. Oh, and it was QUIET which was a surprise since it is next to McDonalds and the freeway.

Needed a quick place to stay..thanks to a 3rd party site I was able to book a room there for $19. The hotel was super nice and very quiet, clean and in a good spot for breafast and gas in the morning to hit the road.

Best hotel breakfast we've had in a long time. Food continually replenished, and area kept clean. Management (I assume) attentive and asked for feedback.....first that's happened anywhere in a long time.

Room was clean, neat but somewhat sterile. Entry to complex lacked ambience, warmth and a welcoming feel. Something appeared odd when we visited fast food restaurant next door which had security guard on door all kitted up. Just didn't feel very safe. Overall it was an acceptable stay, beds were comfy, really nice hot spa but too exposed to surrounding highways. Probably should get some busy plants in pots to provide a buffer and some privacy. And the dining area was having some work done to it so breakfast was underwhelming.

keep up the good work weather wes good parking no problem like the taste of the water. beds were hard would recamend this room 2 any 1. cant think of 200 words about a room. my wife like it. there were no pets and no smocking alouded

I am a traveling service technician in the safety service industry. I'm on the road 250-300 days a year, so good quality hotels are a must. I have chosen the BW brand because they are always clean, well maintained, friendly staff and nice amenities. BW Salinas was so very nice! I was warmly greeted, got checked in quickly and was relaxing in my room quickly. The room décor was comfortable, the room clean and nicely stocked. The bed was very comfortable as I slept well. I'm very happy with the BW of Salinas!!

Expected a decent breakfast. Chose this hotel because it included breakfast for convenience. All they had out was cereal. So instead of being convenient I had to leave hotel to find breakfast. Skip this place and stay at either the Best Western Plus or the Holiday Inn. I have stayed at both, probably Holiday is the better bet. Nicer rooms, facilities and lots of selection for breakfast.

we extremely apologize for not meeting your expectation , as a frequent traveler you sure have stayed across variety of properties. particularly branded hotels, each brand has set a level of breakfast standards for their various brands. we as a best western property are required to have CONTINENTAL breakfast , best western plus and best western premier properties needs to have HOT BREAKFAST. it is difficult for us to understand your allegations of having only cereals and nothing else. this reminds me of 80's and early 90's when properties were only giving out muffins and coffee. there could be a possibility that your visit could be outside breakfast hours. although renovation is underway for expanding the breakfast area,we have maintained the required brand standards for breakfast and never intended to cut corners. would appreciate if you could provide some kind of verification towards your claim. thank you. We found bugs in the shower and minibar.Room very noisy because the trafic.Breakfast with not hot options.Pool close to freeway. Jacuzzi did not work.Staff, very friendlyPrice very high for the value you get

This is a comfortable hotel located near to the historic down town area of Salinas. It is near to Highway 101 but the tariff noise was not a probe. Good pool and little fitness centre but clean and well equipped. Great value with the free breakfast. NB BOOK THROUGH the hotel BW website as Booking.com charge me double the usual rate ($410) for 2 nights crazy ) so book through the BW website it is about $120 per room per night, PLUS if you re a BW member Booking.com will not award you the points so be warned.

Great location next to Highway 101 but very quiet. Not much to look at from the front but great service, breakfast included. There's another Best Wetern hotel 200 feet down the street that is a BW Plus. Fast food and gas nearby.

We were attending a wedding nearby and decided to stay here based on ratings and location. Upon check in by Peter and Melinda, who were very friendly and helpful, we were upgraded to the master suite. The master suite was very large with a separate sleeping area. The room was quiet and had ample amenities. We only had two small complaints, the bed was a little hard and the breakfast area was a little small. But definitely not deal breakers and if in need of a hotel stay in this area again, we would absolutely stay here again.

I booked a King Suite on May 22 for an arrival of May 26, which was a holiday weekend. I booked it on the telephone with a very nice female employee (idk her name). I explained that I would need the business suite for my brother and myself so that we could have our own sleeping quarters. She said they had one available and I booked it. I received a confirmation email. On May 26, at our arrival time of approximately 4:00 p.m. (after driving for 7 hours), I was told by the office clerk, Melanie, that our room was NOT available. They had rented it to someone with more prestige or points or something like that. She said they did that because my reservation was an "upgrade, if available". I said, "NO, I reserved the room and I have the confirmation email." I explained that I needed two sleeping quarters, as I was traveling with my brother and he snores. She then changed her story and said they had to move somebody into our reserved room because there was a water leak. Which was it MELANIE? She was not sorry, she did not care one bit about the inconvenience. She said our room was a stardard one room with two queen beds. I told her that would not work unless I could not find another hotel in town with separate sleeping quarters. Luckily I did, however we had to pay $350 instead of $250 at Best Western. It was a holiday weekend, most every room was booked in town and the rates were very high! I went back to Melanie to cancel our screwed up reservation. Understandably, I was very irritated, extremely disappointed with Best Western AND Melanie. I will not be staying at any Best Western in the future!!

Although one of the suites had a major water leak I should have taken more time to go thru the reservations. I failed and for this I am sorry. I did offer a substantial discount if you would have accepted two beds but I understand that there were issues that prevented this.I wont state them. If you would be so kind as to give me another chance to make this right I would love to invite you back at a great discount excluding busy weekends. I would personally ensure you have a great stay. Room was clean, in McDonalds parking lot. Not pretty but good for overnite. Pool in back next to freeway. Felt pretty secure but I am also very watchful and aware of my surroundings. Breakfast room. Hohum.

My closest friend was returning to Canada by car after wintering in Palm Springs. We became alarmed when text messages reported that his heart was racing, his breath short and he was unable to continue traveling. He was seen by an urgent care doctor in Salinas, California who immediately sent him by ambulance to the local hospitality emergency department where he was kept for 12 hours until his condition stablilized. He checked into the Best Western Salinas Monterey Hotel and withdrew to his room where he attempted to find a modicum of comfort and solace until he could stabilize. At considerable expense, I caught the first flight to San Francisco and drove three hours to Salinas to be by his side. I was alarmed by his weak, incontinent condition and started rehydration therapy, realizing he needed rest and close monitoring. Regrettably and most unfortunately, here is where the hotel's management and the usual "can do" attitude of independent Best Western owners let us down so badly. The hotel was fully booked that evening and insisted that my very ill friend vacate his room immediately. I traveled internationally for 25 years and have visited more than 100 countries. I understand how the industry works and the convenience that the guaranteed reservation system has brought to travelers as well as certainty to owners. I also understand that, in certain unforeseen circumstances, guests need to extend their stays. I have always been treated with kindness and respect whenever I fell ill on the road, whether at the Intercontinental in Abidjan or the Hotel Plaza San Francisco in Santiago. The junior front desk clerk knew of my friend's illness but the party line was mercilessly invoked: "we're booked and you have to leave." I asked her to elevate the problem to the independent owner Mr. Patel, but both his duty manager and the manager in charge were adamant about my friend abandoning his sick bed. Hilariously, the clerk then attempted to use the ruse that she had contacted all of the reservations for that evening during my brief visit to the pharmacy and they were all intending to stay. Imagine! A hotel now emptied of its overnight, transient highway travelers had contacted each and every one of its many incoming guests in under 60 minutes and had verified that all of them would be present! h am not a hotelier and I do not play one on TV, But Here's what the hotel should have done, if it had acted in the spirit that we have come to know from independent Best Western owners. The Best Western Plus Salinas Valley Inn is located next door to the Salinas Monterey, 150 yards away. They had rooms available that evening and could have accommodated one traveler, in the event that their hotel was eventually overbooked that evening. The hotel duty manager could have personally escorted that guest to the neighbouring property and made a gesture of some kind (an upgrade? a coupon? a thank you letter?), to excuse the inconvenience and to thank the guest for accommodating a traveler encountering a medical emerengency. Instead they insisted that my friend rise from his sick bed, pack his things and vacate the room immediately. Shortly after 1 pm, while we were struggling to cope, the clerk's male counterpart had the audacity to call the room to tell us to hurry up. Here's what I can report and what I know. I made sure to cancel all of our remaining stays at Best Western properties for the remainder of the trip. Revenue lost: $1200. Best Western will remain a no-go zone for our future travels for the forseeable future. Loss: (Let's just say that we travel a lot and this amount won't be insignificant.) I am kindly requesting that TripAdvisor begin an immediate inquiry into the hotel's current 4 out of 5 star satisfaction rating. The hotel clerk's male colleague suggested that I contact TripAdvisor, and that they would somehow confirm that we had been unreasonalble. After all, they had a framed Certificate of Excellence displayed prominently on their counter, proving that they must be good hosts! Is the hotel using TripAdvisor to help fill its rooms night after night? It most certainly is. Has the shoddy treatment doled out by this property merited a review and possible downgrade of its quality and satisfaction status? We believe so.

Dear baby and bunny, We are sorry for the situation and if there was any possible way of extending your friends stay we would have happily done it. We are unable to bump guaranteed reservations for any reason as they are bound by contract. I hope you will consider putting yourself in the place of the guests who had reservations and how unfair and upset they would be be to get here and have no room. please understand the position we were in and know that we care about all guests and did every possible thing to extend your friends stay. Check Yelp for more updated reviews. I stay in the area a lot for work but won't go back to this one. They inappropriately charged my credit card over $700 and refused to reverse the charges. The booking was made by my company in advance and they pay at the time of booking. They then charged my personal credit card and would not make a correction. Total fools. The front desk can be nice but sometimes painfully slow. Housekeeping missed cleaning my room. It is noisy because it's directly adjacent to the freeway and McDonald's, etc. Area isn't safe and there are several posts of people's cars being broken into. The fridge in my rooms and fan in the bathrooms were terribly loud. The second light switch in the bathroom didn't work. It's not a cheap reservation so I had expectations of things working better. They supposedly have a hot tub but there was a sign posted that it was out of service during my stays. Since they couldn't see the error of their ways, it would just be better to stay clear of this one.

Dear Miranda, our records show during the month of april you stayed at this hotel us three different times I remember you approaching me each time at the front desk asking if your two dogs could stay here with you. Normally we only allow service animals here but I bent the rules for you and let them stay at the agreed upon rate of $50.00 per night to your credit card not your employers Upon looking over the receipts of your 3 separate stays your claims appear to be inaccurate . You were not overcharged by $700.00. We would love to discuss this with you at anytime it is convenient to you. I am sorry that during your "3" separate stays with us in april you were unhappy with the proximity to the freeway and mcdonalds. As for the spa yes it was broken and we have ordered a new heater. thank you Melinda

The provide a nice clean room with a comfortable bed, I hope in the future this hotel provide a good continental Breakfast and compare with other Best Western Hotel this hotel has a continental Breakfast similar a to Motel 6

A great place and great room size it was very affordable and desk dude was amazing extremely informative, very helpful with lots of leaflets and books including maps of where to go and not to go. Would highly recommend to anyone although breakfast was quite small but substantial. Outside pool look lovely and clean but it was next to the highway!! Lol

The staff was really nice and helpful. Overall stay was decent. However, the neighborhood didn't look too friendly. It looks like they may be trying to fix up the area, but it's a little run down. Hotel employees were nice and room was clean and quiet.

I was very impressed with the staff, especially Melinda. I was sick upon my arrival and also forgot my toothbrush. She brought me one and asked if I needed anything. The check in was fast and the staff went out of her way to make sure we were very comfortable for our stay. I liked the extra little living room area and kitchenette. It was quite, If I had people next to me I was not even aware of them. The only thing I missed was that there were no eggs at the continental breakfast as there had been at most of the other 9 Best westerns I have stayed at in the last month. Over all I was very happy with the hotel and was surprised to get the level of service in Salinas.

The BW hotel is conveniently located next McDonalds and In-and-out burgers. It's a typical no-frills hotel. But the room is very cleaning and comfy bed. Breakfast is decent. I like their staff, friendly and always trying to help. Overall it's a good value.

Good Value for money for central hotel location in California. We stayed there for one night and did not encounter one issue. Have used other best westerns that are substandard to this one. I would definitely consider staying here again.

I was traveling with my husband and my parents during a 4-day holiday weekend and called during the beginning of the week to book our stay. The staff at this hotel was very helpful and friendly from beginning to end. We booked 2 rooms, both 1-King Size Bed and when checking in were told 1 room was upgraded to King Suite at no extra charge - very nice. Both rooms were very clean and well stocked with toiletries and towels. Bed had plenty of pillows and nice clean white linens. Rooms had iron & board, hair dryer and complimentary soaps, lotions and facial tissue. Lamps have extra outlets, great for connecting electronic devices & chargers. Breakfast offered is basic continental - mostly sugary options, but a good selection and well presented. Front desk has complimentary bottled water they provide for your stay, which is helpful when traveling. Neighborhood area might not be the best is Salinas, but we did not have any issues. Both rooms where located on first floor and corner rooms, but street noise was never an issue. Busy fast food chains right next to hotel, but never had problems with parking, hotel access or noise. Overall very satisfied with this hotel and will defiantly recommend to friends visiting the area. I would stay again.

This was a business trip that lasted three days. The parking was very convenient and the places to eat and get coffee were very close. The person that checked me I was very nice and professional. The person that checked me out was not.

The owner or manager went out of his way to make sure I received the best care when traveling through and to Salinas. The rooms are clean and the staff are very friendly. I stay at Best Western hotels eight to nine months a year, for many good reasons they are always clean, friendly and accommodating. This hotel in Salinas fits my needs.

As noted by other reviewers (and confirmed by locals), this hotel is not located in the best of areas. But if you are staying in Salinas, it probably is not any more dicey than any other area in Salinas. In fact, if you are an In-N-Out Burger fan, it is conveniently located two doors away. That said, we stayed here for three nights, felt completely safe and had zero issues. (We did make sure that there was nothing left in our car at night.) Our room was very nice with all of the usual amenities. We could hear some road noise from the near by highway but not too bad. The staff was very friendly. The hotel was clean and the surroundings well maintained.

While visiting family I booked a night at the Best Western for my family and me. Upon arrival we noticed immediately noticed that we were in a very bad area. Sharing a parking lot with a McDonalds, there were a lot of people walking around, some asking for change and others who were homeless looking for a place to sleep. This made us a little uncomfortable, but we just went inside. The check in process took a few minutes, but it wasn't too bad. It was, however, disappointing to hear that they didn't have any type of security monitoring the parking lot. As we entered our room we were very pleased with the quality of the room. It was pretty nice with comfortable beds, a good sized bathroom and plenty of space to relax. There was one small problem with the sink stopper being broken, but they took care of it very fast. We had a good nights sleep and woke ready for the complimentary breakfast. That breakfast was a nice addition. They had cereal, fruit, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, fresh waffles and more. That made it easy to feed our kids without having to go out and spend extra money. Overall, this was a nice hotel. The location is terrible, but that is actually forgotten about once you are inside. The price was pretty steep, but it is a place that we wouldn't mind staying at again.

We arrived late in the evening, 7 of us and a service dog. We really appreciated the friendly staff and the quick check in. Location is excellent, and property was very clean. The morning continental breakfast was the best I have had. The dining area was small considering the size of the hotel. The food was fresh and a very good variety. I would stay there again.

Loved the stay! It was the last hotel stay for our west coast road trip and indeed a blessing to have got this one. Friendly and helpful staff. Comfy beds, clean and big room. Good in supplies. Mr. Pravesh helped us find a nice restaurant near by as well extended our stay for a few hours as our flight was late at night. Best in class continental breakfast. Highly recommend this hotel! Will definitely stay here if visiting the area again!

The hotel staff was very nice and quick at the check in which was a nice bonus after a long car ride. During my stay,they often ask if they can help with anything or say hello in the hallway. It's nice to be in such a friendly environment when away from home. Rooms were clean and stocked well. The continental breakfast had a good variety and they had waitstaff on hand to help where needed. Comfy bed and pillows and a decent spread for complimentary breakfast - 10/10 would recommend.. Parking was free and easy. We would stay again.

The lady at check in was great and recommended a good local steak HOYS and printed mas to this and the cinema in seconds. The owners son was there in the morning and was really helpful helping us to plan our trip for the day. Giving us lots of tips on good routs to take. Great experience oversll

Wonderful staff. Received an upgraded room that was amazing. Very nice and clean with lots of restaurants nearby. Breakfast items left a little to be desired, but the friendly staff more than made up for it.

Larry at the front desk was a great help with maps, directions, assistance with my future plans in the area. Larry took the time to explain things in easy to understand terms. The room was great no complaints at all. The breakfast was great for a continental and I enjoyed it and the free newspaper to read while eating and relaxing in the comfortable dining area. Everything was very clean made the meals very enjoyable. It's nice to be able to eat right at your hotel in the morning.

The hotel staff was very helpful and kind. When I arrived I was greeted with smiles and friendliness. We were there for a softball tournament and they were able to get all of us on the same floor. When we come back next year, we will definitely stay here again.

Overall, I would recommend this hotel to fellow travelers passing through the Salinas area. The front desk staff have been trained very well as they were polite, helpful and informed. They introduced themselves, recognized that I was a Gold Club member and offered us fruit to thank us for our loyalty. The room was spacious and clean and the jetted bath tub was a nice perk. The negatives were that the breakfast area is tiny, so we ended up having to eat in our room. Also, the hallway AC was not working, so when walking around the hotel, it was very hot. Also, our AC unit in our room itself was really loud, so we almost had to shout to talk to each other. Also, the location was a bummer for us. We wanted something closer to Monterey or Santa Cruz.

Well run hotel next to 101 freeway, McDonald's and In-n-Out Burger. At check in the desk clerk, Larry, didn't look at me like I was crazy to be asking for a room when we did not have a reservation and it was the Friday evening of Labor Day weekend in the middle of a CA heat wave. Fortunately there was a room and he took the time to explain all aspects of the hotel, room, gym & pool, breakfast, including where to find the TV station list, which no one had ever done before. I am a BW Rewards member and he gave me a bag with 2 bottles of water, 2 bananas, tangerines and an apple!! When I asked if a room was available away from the highway (how did I dare?), he gave us an upgraded room which was wonderful, spacious, clean, updated and quiet. It even overlooked the parking lot where our truck was parked with bulky items in the truck bed that we couldn't remove. And even though people came and went at McDonald's next door it wasn't too noisy and we didn't hear it at all once in bed. The breakfast area was clean and neat (although a little small, right in the lobby) and choices were as expected for continental breakfast, ie. no hot foods except make your own waffles but it was a great start to the morning, and oddly not crowded at all on a Sat. morning between 8:30 - 9. My only "gripe" would be it would have been nice on a Sat. to have it available a little longer. Check out was a breeze too. We were pleasantly surprised to find this gem in the BW chain in Salinas, CA of all places.

Motel was very nice and clean. The staff went out of their way to make our stay a great experience. Motel manager went out of his way to get us everything we wanted. Would stay here again if in the area.

It was a minimal Best Western. Clean with all of the usual stuff. Breakfast was the usual stuff where a breakfast was included, however it wasn't presented well and the variety was minimal. The room was good however the provided toiletries were a bit below par.

I was in town on business, I always choose best western. This hotel is nice and clean and staff is great. I would definitely choose again, if I'm back in town on business. During the time I stayed there was a water issue in town and I was told I couldn't drink the water but I could shower, the staff was great and gave me extra bottled water. Additionally, they didn't have my BW platinum membership number in the system at check in, the front desk staff later added it, apologized and gave me 500 points.

I love best western. its predictable. you know what you are getting. was welcome rather early in the day before 11am. of course no rooms are ready at that time, but was able to fill out the paperwork. the hotel is near eateries. mcds and in and out burger. the area attracks homeless and drugies. beware. notice during my stay three police activity during my stay.but I still felt safe during my stay. my room was clean and seemed rather new. my problem is who was the maintenance man who installed a towel rack near the toilet. it hurts when you get off the toilet and bang your head on an unwelcome object. the hotel is a short drive from downtown salinas. you must visit downtown Salinas. now for the breadfast. its not your usual fare at most best western hotels I stayed at.mainly cold and bread and cerial items. only hot item was the waffle. very strange when they call this hotel on some sites as a best western plus.still I enjoyed my stay here is Salinas when you consider the prices of hotels in Monterey.

Hotel is clean, nice exterior, convenient location near highways. Stayed here with the wife for one night on our way to Big Sur/Monterey. Check in staff very helpful and accommodating. Got a free upgrade to large king bed suite. Room was clean and beds comfortable. Breakfast was fairly standard but the breakfast area was comfortable. Pool looked nice but didn't use it. Fitness center on the smaller side. Overall a nice experience.

I went away for the weekend and was not please starting with check in. Larry has a very dry and poor attitude with guests in the lobby. I brought two of my bridesmaids with me at check in and while they were talking he rudely stopped explaining things to me and just stared at them. I told him I was listening to which he responded it was hard for him to concentrate with noise. On top of that we did not have enough towels in our room and when we called the next morning, my wedding day. We were told that we could wait or come get them ourselves because the towel person wasn't in yet. I'm not sure I'd stay at this best western again!

The gentleman that checked us in was very polite and professional. He had water bottles ready for us. Gave us clear information about the hotel and the breakfast in the morning. The room was clean, the hotel overall was very clean and the environment was quiet and relaxing.

The property is pretty but in a sketchy area. The breakfast attendant is very nice and keeps everything running and pleasant. She should train the front desk person I have nicknamed Lazy Larry. Not up to Best Western Standards

Hotel was good. They didn't have my room available so they gave me an executive room without adding additional costs. Guest services/front desk were very accommodating. Would stay there again when I return.

I had a very positive experience and would stay here again. Excellent value. The facility appears newer and is well-maintained. I was worried when I turned onto the street and saw other chain hotels and they looked run down. Was relieved when I pulled into the BW and entered. Check in staff was very courteous. Room was comfortable and clean. The bed and linens were above average for this level of hotel.

We stay here whenever we are traveling for work in the Monterey- Salinas area. Love the hot tub, the breakfast is decent, the staff is very friendly and welcoming. The bed was a little hard for us but we think that's because it's a new mattress. Very firm

When I made this reservation it was an accident and it was out of the way of where I had to go but since it was too late to cancel I decided I would stay here anyways and I wasn't disappointed. This hotel staff is the best. I asked for extra pillows and they had them in the room before I checked in. This hotel is clean and the breakfast area is great. Great value for Monterey County area. It is rare to find a hotel under $125.00 anywhere near Monterey, CA. Also the hotel staff is very friendly.

Best Western is the way to go and I rarely stay anywhere else. Depending on what town I'm staying in I usually like to book reservations at the Best Western Plus hotels. The rooms are always super clean and that's really important to me. I have mild OCD tendencies and like all of my stuff to be clean and tidy. The only thing I can say with a negative connotation is in regards to the bed. The bed was completely fine but I'm used to my bed which is a really expensive memory foam mattress. Switching to the bed at the hotel was a big change and I woke up with my back hurting each morning. Might I suggest that you invest in some memory foam mattress toppers for when people make specific requests regarding the comfort of the bed. Other than that I had a great experience on this stay. I will definitely come back to this hotel when I'm in Salinas next month.. Also the older gentleman, who was a supervisor, that worked behind the front desk was amazing. He was extremely efficient in everything he did and made me feel welcome in a new and unfamiliar setting. I look forward to coming back next month. Thanks for the great stay!!!!!!!

My family had to take a last minute trip due to the untimely passing of a close cousin. My first contact was verry warm and accommodating, the receptionist did eevrything she could to worm with me to get a room that would fit my budget and timeline. Overall a verry good experience.

It's clean and simple, with friendly staff. There's locally-made sculpture in the lobby, which the staff person at checkin told us a bit about. The breakfast area isn't particularly nice, but overall it's a fine place along I-5 to stop at.

Great place for a nights rest, just outside Monterey in Salinas. Close to the 101 Freeway and about 20 minutes from Monterey. Room was large and clean. Friendly staff and good parking. Breakfast in the morning and fast food close by.

I found the hotel to be very clean and comfortable. All the staff were extremely friendly and professional. Highly recommend this Best Western should you be in the Salinas area. Very easy access from the freeway yet very quite and comfortable. I will definitely be back.

Upon arrival at Salinas, California, coming from Palm Desert, I looked up Best Western, and GPS directed us to this one. Walked in main lobby, and noticed to the right side a small eating area, with a lot of tables an chairs. Greeted at front desk by a lady, that explained everything involved in our stay. Went to our room, very clean etc. We decided to get some dinner, and l the front desk lady, gave us a few options. Not familiar with the area, especially in the dark, we ended up at the slum area, with all these tent people...Very scared, we finally got out of area, found our way back to the BW, and went across the parking lot to MacDonalds. Next morning, the eating area, plus tables and chairs in lobby area, with people checking out, very busy, and uncomfortable..

I remember giving you a map. I always tell my guest to make a right turn out our drive way and go thru the stop light and make a right on Alisal street. I think you made the right turn at the stop light and found yourself in that area you described. I never recommend going that way and I am sorry that there was confusion. A fair and clean best western but overpriced for what it was and where it was. breakfast not so great no meat and pretty much a pancake and cereal. no brown sugar for oatmeal and no regular oatmeal. All in all a fair place for a nights sleep.

This hotel is very adequate for a decent price in what is a rather expensive area. It is clean with comfortable beds and easy access to all the "must see" things on the Monterey peninsula. Don't expect much for the breakfast provided. Small breakfast room with limited items offered. There is a McDonalds in the parking lot if you wish to have a hot breakfast and a In and Out Burger also should you want a fast dinner. Staff was very friendly and helpful in recommending other restaurants for breakfast and dinner. It is an older Best Western our room had no comfortable chair for sitting but the beds were quite firm but good and despite being next to the freeway it was quiet.

Very Nice Hotel with Friendly Staff. Location was average...just off the freeway but noise level was not noticable. Manager made an excellent recommendation for dinner at Black Bear Diner. Great Value with huge portions.

The exterior of the Facility is soft Blue and White paint very clean the pool is very nice plenty of parking, The lobby and breakfast area very clean and fresh it's a delight, the price was modest the rooms were great very clean each day great room coffee, Larry the front end was very informative . I was very surprised at the beauty of the hotel when we arrived. I was even more surprised of the cleanliness and overall comfort of our room, but when I laid on the bed I was super happy and the pillows were the best, without being flattened out with overuse. I would recommend the Salinas Best Western to anyone.

The staff member that stood out the most was Larry he is very passionate in his work not only providing most helpful information for us but we observed his personal help for a elderly lady with a disability get her bags from her room and take them to her car these are the things that distinguish a regular employee to and exceptional employee that can be emulated for others to follow. My congratulations also noted he works odd days and hours but always with a smile.

The Best Western Salinas Monterey is a good value. Excellent location near a major freeway. Close to an In and Out and McDonald's. Clean rooms with comfortable beds. The employees are very nice. The breakfast is average. Great for the business traveler.

This is a very nice, updated hotel we stayed in for 4 days to attend the Laguna Seca Historic races and show. Wonderful access to and from raceway.....absolutely no traffic problems. Beds were very comfortable. Staff were very helpful. Easy access to old downtown restaurants. Great parking and next to In and Out.

Be advised that not all Best Western hotels provide the same level of safety and hospitality. Please seriously consider your safety and that of your belongings before reserving a room at Best Western Salinas/Monterrey. When we made the reservation en route from northern California, Larry, the desk clerk stated the reservation fee was not refundable since it was within 24 hours of the stay. My immediate though t was that we'd get there and change our mind for some reason. Upon arriving mid-afternoon, that inner warning proved correct. The parking lot abuts a busy freeway and we later discovered , returning after seeing some sights, is extremely poorly lit and lacks outdoor security. Driving back to the hotel after dark, we noticed what we didn't notice earlier in the daylight. Many of the local businesses had barred windows and we had to backtrack a distance to find a restaurant in a safer-feeling area. Although we returned before 9pm, there were no parking places except in the dark back of the lot. As a result, our car was vandalized, car glass smashed through with a large rock and the contents stolen. Including the contents of the glove box and console. We reported the vandalism to Larry at the desk and was taken aback by his lack of sympathy or apology. He gave us the address and phone number of the police department and the name and phone number of the general manager. My husband walked him out to show him the damage, and his reply to the question of any video availability was that the only video camera in the parking lot is pointed to the front entrance. At this point, we understood that policy and accepted that we shouldn't have left anything of value in our car. We did file a police report, hoping it would be a step towards increased security and safety for future hotel patrons. The owner/general manager stands by his policy of not being responsible for lost or stolen items and as of our last conversation with him had not updated outdoor security except by sending employees out in the dark to patrol the parking lot more frequently, even with very recent history of vandalisms. Based on our experience at this location, we would advise taking everything out of your car, including the contents of the glove box and console. During the daytime, this area appears to be okay. The only security camera and lighting is by the front door, and that is the ideal place to park here. However, based upon the lack of lighting and security cameras throughout the majority of the parking lot, we would definitely advise extra caution after dark.

Hotel is well maintained. Carpeting in halls is fresh, guest room was clean and new. Pool area was clean and well maintained. Breakfast is a notch above standard continental breakfasts served at many hotels.

Our room was spacious and clean. The bed and pillows were super comfy. The breakfast didn't offer much but was free. We would stay here again as it was priced well and parking very convenient. McDonalds was right next door.

Our family of 4 stayed at Best Western Salinas Monterey Hotel for one night. We woke up with some bug bites but at first we thought we got those the previous night from mosquitos. It turns out we were wrong. Those were flea bites and for days we've been trying to get rid of them in our home because some came home with us in our suitcases.

The hotel was better than expected. From the outside we were not sure what we were getting into, but after walking in we could see that some work had been done to improve the hotel. The lobby area was small, but clean, and the representative was not very enthusiastic...but he was very helpful. Our room was not the best, but also not bad. I would have to say the pillows were uncomfortable though. The hotel does have an outdoor pool and offer breakfast.

We had a tourney to go to so the ream decided to stay here great place friendly people free breakfast in the morning and a five minute walk to the beach just beautiful blue water. It was about a 15 minute drive to the field which wasn't bad we seen a lot of strawberry, broccoli fields

That particular best Western is a five minute walk to the beautiful beach. We are about a 20 minute drive. I have stayed at this location a few times for an event nearby. The location is easy to find, the rooms are clean, comfortable and quiet. Very friendly staff. At check in we were greeted with a smile and the check in process went flawlessly. The room was ready as promised. Ample parking in a well lit parking lot. A clean comfortable room with just some very minor issues,For instance : the toilet seat in the room was loose and needed some attention.The hot water in the shower/tub took a little extra while to warm up, but was fine after it did. the key card reader was very finicky at the side entrance and when it did work the door was hard to pull open like it was stuck shut. I ma probably a little picky er than most people when it comes to details so most may not have even noticed or mentioned the problems that I found. There is absolutely no reason to sidestep this property when looking for a place to stay.

The front desk staff were extremely courteous and helpful, I had to cancel one day of my stay and they were very helpful with that. The hotel is a very well used broom that knows all the corners and is almost quaint. So don't expect a 5 star facility but it makes up for that in the wonderful staff they have.

We stayed here one night so that we could visit the nearby National Steinbeck Center and check out historic old Salinas. We were traveling on a week day and were surprised to find that many of the other Salinas hotels were full, so ended up at this Best Western. Our room was clean and comfortable, and staff was very friendly. The breakfast was a typical Best Western affair: cereal, coffee, pancakes, juice. There were many international business travelers staying at the hotel.

Perfect stopover, with access a few minutes from 101 offramp. Among very best beds and room features anywhere, with elevator nearby. Truly reasonable stay, with tidy, well-supplied breakfast area. An easy day's drive from almost anywhere in state, and a minutes to Carmel, Hwy 1, and Big Sur.

I was greeted warmly by Larry at reception and he was efficient and courteous letting me know everything that I needed to know for a comfortable visit. The hotel is just of US 101 and not blessed with a wide range of local restaurants. The good news for me was that there is an In N Out burger franchise which is almost dinner and a show.

Easy and friendly check in process and appreciated the bottled water at check in. The room was clean, bedding was clean and fresh, love the refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker in the room. Location was close to the business I had to attend the following day.

Very nice hotel, friendly staff, great amenities. We used the gym and had the breakfast. Upon check in we received a complimentary bottle of water which was most appreciated after a 5 hour flight from Hawaii. We are now staying at a BW+ in Carpinteria and are very disappointed. Salinas should be considered PLUS and Carpinteria should not!

Clean and Comfortable! Just avoid rooms 111-115; too close to the ice machine noises! Close to Monterey, Carmel and, of course, the ocean! Beautiful scenery, trail walks and lovely country drives. Find yourself enraptured by the coolness of the area.

I recently stayed at Best Western, Salinas, on my way north and didn't expect very much. What a pleasant surprise! The room was large and clean, free wifi, very comprehensive complimentary continental breakfast and friendly and helpful staff. If you are on the highway and simply can't make it to your destination I can recommend this as a great place to stop over.

The hotel was very clean, and the people are friendly and very helpfull. The breakfast area was clean and in order. My breakfast was good and staff was great. I would recommend this hotel to my friends and family members to stay when they visit Salinas, in addition, i would stay again. Married with kids stay; on the way to Big Sur. To work on: I must state I didn't feel very safe here. Our family checked in after dark and I didn't see any security on the premises at all that night. I sort of felt sorry for the young lady working the front desk as anyone could have walked into the lobby and she was alone. In the past we frequent BW all over CA and this is the first time where I questioned our families security, idk that's just how I felt. Also, the door of our Suite wouldn't close fully w/o locking it. The pool was being cleaned during the open hours so the kids had to avoid the aqua bug hose while they swam. The water pressure of the room we were in was really low so this made showering time consuming as we are a family of 5; not what we expected as we booked a Suite. Also, I didn't see a sanitary cover over the tv remote which got me thinking of the overall cleanliness of the room; though appearance wise it looked fine. Finally, I must say all of the above was inconvenient but the main reason I won't allow my family to stay here again is because I felt as if we were rushed to check-out even though we requested a 12pm check out. We received a call to our room prior to 11am asking us if we "going to be checking out soon"; that was not acceptable and made us feel like customers not guests. Good thing we were not on Spring break and trying to relax. Upon check out the mgr didn't close by saying "come again, next time you are out this way, or hope to see you again" nothing, he was very cold. Pros: Easy to reserve as we did so while on the road; tnx BW reservations. Easy to find off the 101. Comfy bed. The corridor was peaceful. Decent waffle breakfast and extra hot coffee. Finally, quick check in-out.

I stay here for three reasons. It is halfway to my home when I am in Sacramento on business. It is conveniently located of 101, and the beds are very comfortable and the room quiet, given it is just off road. The staff is also always positive and welcoming. Checking in is efficient and water is provided.

Cleen up to date and the Staff are really nice. Fresh room very well appointed, Flat screen tv's and the AC units are very quit at least the rooms I have stayed in. outdoor pool and nice fitness room. They also have a Jacuzzi to relax in.

We were staying for one night. The hotel desk clerk who was there when we arrived was very nice and efficient. He even took the time to show us 3 rooms that were available and let us choose our preference. We chose a 2 room suite which was offered for the same price as the king room we had reserved. The bed was comfortable, the rooms were clean and a good size. A good location, just off Hwy 101 but was very quiet for sleeping. Also, a lot of eating places very close by. They offered a good variety of food for breakfast including freshly made waffles.

Front staff were excellent, gave valuable and good information on where to visit and eat. Not a lot of options near by. Rooms were clean and quiet. Plenty of parking. Breakfast was good and opened early. No grounds to speak of.

Nice staff, clean and secure hotel. Breakfast only served to 9:00AM would be the only ding. Hot tub was awesome. Quiet room, close to everything, newer security keys, housekeeping staff was aware and offered to help if needed.

What I like the most about the new room kseys is that They do not demagnetize when placed by a cell phone.. Also, It is nice to get into the hot tub after a long day. I stayed here for one night in July. I was coming into Salinas just for a day. The room was clean and the staff was helpful. They even held my luggage while I went to grab some breakfast at the In N Out Burger. I did not partake in the breakfast at the hotel. This is only a 10 minute cab ride from downtown Salinas. This place met my expectations from previous Best Westerns that I have stayed at.

Stayed here for just one night on the way to the Central Coast of CA. Excellent location just off the 101 corridor (makes it perfect for road trips coming through here). For a Best Western property, rooms looked dated and breakfast offerings were disappointing. Wifi worked well, room was clean, etc. Staff was cheerful. Felt safe, etc

Too shorten the distance from Los Angeles to San Francisco we had planned to stay one night in the Monteray area, but all hotels along the coast were filled up. This hotel was a positive experience and also the town of Salinas. Although close to highway and Mc Donald we were not disturbed by any noise.

The hotel was nice. The room was acceptable and the beds were very comfortable. That is what I expect from this chain. The cost was much more than I expected and did not like the cost that we paid. This hotel should not have cost anymore than $150 per night. The staff was very professional.

Our family had two rooms and all felt this hotel was perfect. Rooms were spacious, very clean, and comfortable. Staff were helpful and definitely cared about the comfort of the guests. I would highly recommend this room to others and will be staying there again when visiting the area.

Truthfully, we picked this hotel because of the price of the hotels in Monterey were nearly twice as much. Our time was spent in Monterey. We just started the program Best Western has so this was the reason we picked this particular hotel. We needed to stay two nights & the location was perfect for the freeway & Highway 68.

Nice BW! Great, helpful staff. Nice size room with comfortable beds. Room negative - terrible shower. Toiletries were just okay. Breakfast was adequate. We like oranges and English muffins, which they did not have. They did have hard boiled eggs. Can't please everyone with breakfast. Also had USA today which we always enjoy when traveling. Hotel had a large swimming pool. There are not a lot of restaurants nearby if you prefer not to drive. This was better than some Plusses we have stayed in!

Nice, clean, up-to-date hotel with comfortable beds and nice linens. No noise from other rooms. Only "issue" during 3-night stay was freeway noise. Not much the hotel can do about that. Continental breakfast was good - average for this level hotel.

Room face McDonalds drive through was noisy. Room itself was nice and clean. Front Desk Manager was rude and almost turned me away when I did not have a credit card even though I had cash to leave for a deposit and am a Diamond with Best Western. So this kind of left me with a bad impression. The price was OK but your in Salinas next to a busy drive through and the freeway so it's not exactly the best part of town.

Beautiful room, very large, staff not over friendly , seemed like a chore to serve us, they said that we had $$ still too pay until i showed them my receipt of what i printed off at home and they agreed that there was no more payment. They give you a card to put in your car to show that you are residing at this hotel, make sure you put it on display because I noticed a member off staff checking the vehicles around 10pm Breakfast was plain and simple not a very big dinning area. Very clean and presentable hotel, pity it didn't show on the staff. Very close to freeway but surprisingly no noise.

Stayed Friday and Saturday nights to visit the Monterey area. Right off of Hwy101 and near major cross-town roads. No walkable dining options except fast food. The coast is about 20 minutes away, with quite a few good route options depending where you want to end up. A small outdoor pool and a nice clean hot HOT tub on the freeway side of the building. A small exercise room with a limited universal machine, treadmill and bike, in the same room as the coin-op laundry. The 3-story building is wood-frame rather than concrete, so the sound from the upstairs elephants carries into lower rooms. Otherwise the sound insulation was good. We were not too far down the hall from reception and never heard a thing. The bed was comfortable enough, with good pillows. I didn't care for whatever plastic sheet that was in between the mattress and thin pad under the sheet. That allows the bottom sheet and pad to move around too much and get bunched as you move around at night. The breakfast is well-maintained by attentive and friendly staff, but the selection is more limited than most hotels in this class - various starch items, a little fruit, and only yogurt and boiled eggs for protein. As others have noted, there is limited space in the lobby/breakfast area. $165/night seems a bit steep for this town and this hotel, but there is clearly a lot of spill-over demand from the coast - that's why we were there. I can tepidly recommend this hotel, and would consider it again when returning to this area.

Enjoyed our stop over at this location. We were given a nice comfortable room. The room and bathroom were clean and well stocked for towels and toiletries. Clean. Good Service. Good Breakfast. This was our 4th of 6 stops at Best Western Hotels. Liked it and would recommend it others.
