Best Western Plus
Clean hotel. Friendly staff, willing to help with directions. About 3/4 of mile from Fisherman's wharf. Some restaurants close by. Trader Joe's short walk from hotel. Larege room and bathroom with mini fridge.
We are used to staying in 3-4 star hotels, but due to circumstances this time we had to choose a 2 to 2-/2 star hotel (as rated on Tripadvisor). I read the reviews carefully, and decided that this Best Western was our best choice. For one thing, we like a hotel with a lobby, and having our room open to an interior hallway rather than being on a sidewalk with our car parked outside our door (which most of the others here are like that). Also, we've had better experiences in the past with Best Westerns as compared to other lodging in the 2 to 2-1/2 star category. Arrival was easy, hotel clean and neat, inside and out. Check in went well. The clerk gave us a map marking where and what was going on in the area.Walking the hallway to our top floor, corner room (Thank You, BW!!) it was a bit dim and dated. NOT dirty - just dim and dated. Our room was large (another reason we chose this BW hotel), and the closet, bathroom and a dressing area was a spacious, separated area from the bedroom. We liked that, too. Our corner room was delightful for our 5 day stay. There was some ambient noise outside; humming of machines of some sort. If your sliding doors are closed, you do not hear it. If your doors/windows are open, you do. We were there on particularly warm days and nights so we had to deal with that bit of noise, since we had our doors open for some air circulation. This noise is not something the hotel has control over, and is the nature of staying in this area. Any hotel around here will have that. Practically no noise from drive-by cars at night; streets were quiet. I LOVED how the cleaning staff give such attention to detail! Even vacuuming the baseboards in the hallway.... daily, I think! Everyday, any amenities we used were replaced. I've often had little things overlooked in other hotels..... the lotion not being replenised, eye makeup remover cloths not replaced, ice bucket not emptied; but not here - everything attended to each day! Mattresses are pretty good (a B, but not an A). The breakfast room was small, as others have said here. But, food fresh and ok. The elevators were bright and clean. There is a parking garage under and behind the hotel. Location was great - not only to the Wharf, and downtown, but the bus stop is also close by. It's safe to walk. I walked the mile to Del Monte Center, shopped, ate lunch and saw a movie. Great stay! (My spouse was here on business and I went along; so I was on my own at times).
Decided to escape the central valley heat for a weekend and bookong very last minute this Best Western had a room available. I have notice that they have changed their rankings on hotel quality, a Best Western Plus is about what you would get at a Best Western in the past. Hotel was very clean, stafff very friendly. Even had a balcony in our room that we could see Fishermans Wharf from. About a 1/2 mile walk to a trolley that takes you to cannery row, a little farther and you are on the Wharf. No AC units at this hotel so if there is a heat wave you are going to get hot, thankfully the weather is usually mild in Monterey.
We stayed at this property for two nights. The location was very convenient for Fisherman's Wharf. The rooms were clean and very spacious. The staff were incredibly helpful. Breakfast was not the best in terms of options available, but the food was good. There was no room safe, which is not ideal when wanting to store passports, etc., but staff at front desk were accommodating. We felt it was a bit high priced, but we were generally satisfied with our stay here.
I travel often for work and tend to stay here when I am in the area. It is a little pricey compared to other areas but is on par, cost-wise, for Monterey. It is convenient to many of restaurants and is comfortable, clean and well run.
We drove from Vacaville to get away from fires, smoke and heat. Had no real plan. We were lucky to get the hotel. The rooms are clean as are the grounds. The service was great. We will use again for our next visit.
The Inn was great to work with. We arrived, checked in, and were able to relax and unwind from a long day on the road on a bike. Bed was great, sleep was undisturbed. We were very satisfied with this location.
The breakfast is amazing and fresh. I would suggest making sure the refrigerator and heater are working correctly upon arrival, since I had issues with mine on my stay. Other than those things the stay was good.
I loved the hotel and the breakfasts and the quietness of the hotel. I liked that you didn't have to turn on the lights when going to the bathroom at night since the detectors would light up a small light for you to see so you would not wake anyone up.
We travelled with our dogs and had a great time. we only stayed 1 night, but the room was really great, comfortable. Easy access to the beach. Would return for sure if in the area again. Easy internet access which was really handy for us.
Upon arrival the woman that checked us in was extremely pleasant and courteous. We had booked a 2 queen room, but there were 6 of us so we asked for a rollaway and they were able to accommodate us. The room was nice had a patio. They just need AC, there's no ventilation in the room unless you open the patio door unfortunately we were facing the street so we could hear the cars all night. They claim it's because the weather there is always cool, that was not the case one of the days we stayed there. If you do stay make sure you ask for a room away from the street. Other than that it's close to the wharf, free covered parking and free breakfast was good. Be aware the rollaway beds are $20 a night and anyone 13 and up are an additional $17 a night. Try to stay on a weekday. It was too pricey for being BW with no AC
The room was very large and had everything you could need. It was very clean and pretty well updated. The location was good enough just a 10 minute ($10 Uber) drive from most must visit areas in Monterey. Plenty of free indoor parking and good WiFi access. The breakfast buffet was also very good with Belgium waffles, hot meats and eggs as well as many other options. Great value for this area.
Based upon the reviews, I booked this for my husband and I for a short getaway. Upon entering the room, it smelled very musty. It was clean but didn't smell freshly cleaned. I was concerned before booking that there was no AC, but the i was assured by the agent that the slider would bring in a nice breeZe. This would of been true if we were able to leave it open refresh air inside the room. Upon retiring for the evening and after the tv was off, I noticed a loud buzzing sound coming from outside. My husband said it was coming from the power lines that were on the street. What the heck??? It was so loud that we could here it from our room and along with the high traffic noise, it was either deal with the noise or sleep in a hot room. This room may be good for the cold months but not for summer. I did complain about the room and the front desk clerk informed me that I wasn't the first to complain about the power line noise. WOW, why we weren't told upon this when they gave us our room??? They didn't have any other rooms beside one by the ice machine. Nevertheless we stayed. If this wasn't bad enough we arrived back in our room about 4pm and our rooms still wasn't serviced ??. The breakfast room was very small for the amount of guests at the hotel or if your wanted sit outside in the cold morning air that was an option. The two attendants were so busy that the tables weren't wiped off from previous People eating. The food was decent for typical breakfast but space was tight for serving and seating. Upon checkout I spoke to the Jose at the front desk and he said he never got a complaint about the power noise or the room service, Hard to believe after speaking with the first receptionist. His demeanor was not accommodating and I was just given a card and asked to call on Monday and speak to the manager. I would never stay at this property again or will recommend to anyone.
When you come to a town you've never been to before you want a hotel that is conveniently placed for some of the sights and where the staff know their stuff about the area. This BW delivered in both respects. Easy to walk to the main attractions but also there is a free trolley bus service that stops 3 blocks from the hotel and goes to Fisherman's Wharf, the Cannery and the Aquarium - all must sees. Carmel by the Sea is also only 10 mins drive away. The hotel room was spacious, the beds comfortable and all very clean. The breakfast was a little uninspiring but was sufficient. Overall a good place to stay to see Monterey, Carmel and the surrounding area.
We arrived after driving many hours to find our discounted room that we booked online did not come with a tub, only a shower. For a variety of reasons, we were very disappointed. Once you've booked online at a 3rd party discount entity, there isn't much the hotel can do. Unless they want to. Thank you Best Western for accommodating our mistake! There is lots to check when booking online through a discount service provider, we missed a detail that we were prepared to just accept... Also, fun fact if you book online at the hotel website they will price match whatever discount you find online! We'll check out the pool tonight and breakfast tomorrow, but even if it's standard, this hotel still gets 5 stars from us, because in the end, it's about the people. Thank you, C, for taking care of us!
My family and I stayed in Monterey for a couple of days. Got a great deal. The oversized room with 2 queen beds was perfect, had enough room. We also had a cute patio with seating. Very clean and staff was nice. Free parking, wifi and breakfast. The breakfast was simple but good. I would stay here again ????
Stay was fine rooms a bit basic. Has parking included. Breakfast area was a bit small. Was absolutely fine for what we wanted. Easy walk into town to attractions. Price was good as well. Would stay again
We arrived at midday and we're able to check into our room early. The receptionist on duty, whose name I didn't get but she wears a bodywarmer, was very helpful and made us feel really welcome. Our room was clean and spacious, WiFi and TV worked well. My only complaint about this hotel and the reason I give it a 4/5 is the breakfast room. It's tiny and the tables are crammed in close together. It's not the sort of place where you can relax and enjoy your breakfast. We felt it was a quick grab and go affair instead. It'd be better if it was bigger with a TV or newspapers on offer. There is a small area outside for seating but was too cold so closed. Apart from that we really enjoyed our stay here and would recommend to anyone visiting the town.
We stayed for 4 days while exploring the surrounding area. Our room was very spacious and was cleaned/replenished each day after we left. Staff was nice and responsive to any requests we made of them. Our only complaint (if you can call it that) was that the breakfast bar consisted of the same hot items every day...a little variety in the types of eggs/meats offered would have been a welcome change. Also, along one wall in the dining room there were hanging lights that we saw a good many guests bash their heads on...pot lights would have been much more appropriate here as the tables below were moveable and caused the hanging lights to hang where people stood up to leave the table. Over all it was a good stay and we would stay there again.

Dear Sheri, thank you for taking the time to post your comments. We were pleased to know you enjoyed your stay and would stay with us again. I only wish you would have given us a higher rating as some readers may not take the time read the entire review.
We used our 2-bedroom suite at the Monterey Inn for four nights, as the base for exploring the Monterey Peninsula. It was a good move. Reasonably priced, centrally located to Cannery Row, the Monterey Aquarium, Carmel, and the rest of the peninsula. The room was clean and quiet, with very comfortable beds. We started out each morning with a well-supplied breakfast and then took off for the day. The Inn is within walking distance to a number of eateries, Cannery Row and a Trader Joe's. Staff is friendly and helpful. Be advised that if you opt for the suite, there is only one bathroom. Aside from that, it's a good place to stay.
We stayed one night at this property, as we were just passing through. The hotel is about a mile from the Wharf, which was walkable for us, but may not be for others. Not too many local food choices in the area of the hotel, so keep in mind that driving or walking will most likely be necessary. Our second floor room faced the rear of the property. We didn't hear traffic from the main drag out front, but there is a busy little street to the rear, but the traffic died down overnight. The rooms are not all that quiet either as we could hear conversations from the neighboring room as well as from the hallway. On a side note, there seemed to be an above average number of rude visitors who didn't think twice to yell down the hallway or slam doors at odd hours of the night. That is NOT the hotel's fault, we just had bad luck. The room was fairly large and did not feel cramped, which is always a plus. The bed wasn't that great – super springy and bouncy. All the staff we encountered were friendly and it was a nice atmosphere. The breakfast was nice, had the basics you would enjoy at most hotels from 6-10am. There is a dedicated breakfast area, which is nice, so people aren't spilling out into the lobby and hallways.
Had a really nice stay here for our first 3 nights in California. Large and very clean room, great location, one street up from the start of Cannery Row and almost half way between the Aquarium and Fisherman's Wharf. Staff very friendly and helpful, would definitely recommend if in Monterey
Great place to stay, very clean room, friendly staff, nice breakfast, clean pool and hot tub. Close to wharf and Cannery Row.Our 2nd time staying here. Highly recommend the fireplace room. Will definitely be back soon.
Nice hotel but overpriced on weekends, Good location in Monterey near attractions, includes breakfast and parking, breakfast is the same everyday. Good access to parking, wifi included, Nearby Wharf and Cannery Row (short drive)
I found this to be a very strange old style hotel. The location was only a short walk from Fisherman Wharf. I'm not sure if there was a certain time for vacation in June but there were a lot of elderly guests. The breakfast buffet room was like an old peoples home. There was no trouble or issues but I felt a bit out of place (and very young!) The bathroom was huge. The bed had lots of sheets tucked in and the room was quite cold. The reception area offered free wine and cheese around 4:30pm.
Walking distance to aquarium is 2 miles via the trail. Good location for Fisherman's Wharf. Underground parking is good. Outdoor access to pool/spa is very inconvenient. Aquarium tickets sold on site for 2 days at one day price. Breakfast is standard BW Plus fare.
Easy access to all areas in Monterey, Sand City, Pacific Grove. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Staff has always been helpful and friendly. Covered parking is nice. No microwave in the room, but they will let you use the one in the breakfast room.
I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel. I wasn't expecting much but the rooms were clean and spacious. Definitely book the "more space" rooms because it is worth it. We had a private balcony in our room which we had breakfast at. Breakfast is included in the rate and I liked that they had cut up fresh fruit and hard boiled eggs. You can pretty much put together a decently healthy breakfast. The breakfast room is pretty small unless you get up early or go at the tail-end of breakfast hours. This hotel is a short walk to Fisherman's Wharf and Cannery Row. Overall, I liked this place and would stay here again the next time I am in town.
We stayed one night here and the staff were probably the most friendly out of all the hotels we stayed in so far in California. The breakfast service was all excellent value for money. Everything worked and the place was very clean and cared for! Please owners spend some money on the place it is very dated and with some real investment and keeping the team it could be the best hotel in town! Well done to the manager & team it is never easy managing a tired product! For one night it's completely fine check it out they do care and want your business!
Everything about this hotel was great except the beds. For us they were hard and uncomfortable. The sheets weren't very soft either. The room was amazingly clean, which we really appreciated. The breakfast was the best ever for one of these free breakfast places. Daily they served eggs, real eggs, sausage, bread, English muffins, donuts, muffins, waffles, cereal, yogurt, fruit and juices.
This is a very nice place, but certainly not luxurious. Yes the rooms are dated, but very clean and nothing is ripped or stained. Staff is very nice and helpful. We walked back and forth to Cannery every day. 12,000 steps so about 1.5 miles each way to the Aquarium. Once you get to the waterfront (only 3 blocks) there is a beautiful walkway. Very centrally located. Easy access to mall, downtown, Pacific Grove and CA1. Carmel is just 2 exits up on CA1. If you are looking for a reasonably priced hotel with free parking, WiFi and breakfast and willing to take a walk to the sights, this is a great place...NOT fancy, but well kept and clean.
We usually stay at this hotel whenever we visit the Monterrey area. Location is good for the sites in the area and a good value. Our room was quiet and parking was convenient. We enjoy the included breakfast.
Finally got a getaway with wife, from caring for mil with Alzheimer's. This hotel was the perfect choice. Although the price changed daily because of the Big Sir running marathon. Beds were extremely hard for both of us,especially with my back. Overall, a very good experience.
Stayed here for BSIM weekend and while some of the decor could use an update, the rooms were clean and beds were comfy. Staff were friendly and helpful and seemed to deal fairly well with a full house of marathon runners and spectators, even having some breakfast essentials out before 3 a.m. for guests leaving for the starting line. Location is a good base camp for checking out Monterey and Carmel on foot or by car, and not too far from the race expo and shuttle bus stops race morning. Certainly a bit pricier for the busy BSIM weekend but not too bad if booked early.
We stayed for three nights and the hotel disappointed. Check in and staff was very friendly. The room was a bit old and the walls are very thin. The price we paid was over $220 per night which is a bit steep for the class of this hotel. The price increased over the weekend - so watch out when booking. The hotel offers free wifi and underground car parking. The price includes breakfast but that was a ‘joke'. Breakfast is offered as a very basic continental version on paper plates, paper cups for your coffee or tea and plastic cutlery. Not very environmentally friendly but I guess cost effective. I hated it and we choose to have breakfast outside in the township. There are nice places just a 5 min walk from the hotel. The location is not too bad. Everything is in walking distance. Will not recommend this hotel. Very disappointing
We stayed here for 2 nights as part of road trip in California. Clean hotel rooms and reasonable in size although would benefit from some modernisation- felt a little basic. Plenty of free parking and only 5 mins to the main attractions in Monterey. Breakfast room small but good enough choice.
Another good quality stay at Best Western. Was close to many attractions and restaurants. Received a great haircut next door. Good food delivered to the room. The only sad thing is that there are no Dogs allowed. I will stay here again in the future.
We were given room #323, which is very roomy with a nice private deck (you can see the ocean way in the background) and a fireplace. The bed was quite comfortable and we slept well. There was very little noise, except for the trash collectors. Things were quite clean and the staff were friendly and available. Also the underground parking was convenient. We suggest you go down to the lowest level, where you'll find more spaces.
The staff is friendly and professional, lobby inviting, breakfast is plentiful and tasty though the breakfast room is tight. Rooms were very clean but the bed was thin and flat, we could feel the springs and this ruined our stay. After spending all day at the Aquarium, a good sleep was what we needed. That sleep was elusive because of the bed. The room also needed an additional lamp. The rooms were clean and standard hotel decor and amenities. There is a fridge but no microwave which our last BWP had. We only stayed one night, don't think we could've lasted more than that.
We had to book a room here last minute and it was wonderful. Nice rooms and good breakfast. It's fairly close to most of the nearby attractions with just a short drive. The area around the hotel is nice as well with food and shopping nearby.
Hotel was very nice. Staff was great, Shuttle was a great ameniety. Breakfast was very good.. Some reviews had concerns about location - but other than passing some warehouses on way to hotel entrance, we saw nothing that concerned us. We did not walk anywhere just took the hotel shuttle.
Looks like a great deal...until you stay there. Ventilation system made my whole family sick and we are all recovering still. Walls are very thin and you can hear everything going on in the halls. Was there for work and expecteda quiet night sleep. My preganant wife not only got sick bit was sleep deprived too. Staff appear smiling. They bill you after check out for "excessive cleaning." When asked for proof the manager states "let me askhousekeeping. Ill call you back." She never doesand charge is only discovered on a credit card statement a month later. Let's see...room looks nice but you cannot sleep due to noise, no empathy for moldy mildew smell making my family sick (must be our fault according to manager), no empathy for pregnant women, not to mention if you shower long enough you get hit with a burst of ice cold freezing water, or even hot scaulding water. This place is a glorified dump that sucks you in like a black hole and you wake up the next morning thinking what just happened to me? I have stayed at Best Western hotels everywhere all with at least average experiences with most properties far exceeding my expectations. This one is run wrong! And I should know spending a total of 210 nights in hotels for work purposes last year and this is the only hotel that ever makes my list for"think twice ahout staying here again." At least most hotels thst are awful don't hide it. This is the only one that does and I may never choose to stay at a Best Western hotel ever again because of it! Not caring about pregnant women is the lowest of the low in my book!

The following facts were not mentioned in your review. You stayed at our property for 7 nights. At check-out you inquired about a corporate rate for a future stay and were given my business card. Your room was taken out of service because it could not be rented without an extensive deep cleaning. It was necessary to shampoo the carpet, upholstery and draperies to remove stains. When we spoke by phone regarding the cleaning fee you again stated you wanted to come back and stay with us for a month. I told you that would not be possible as I was concerned about the rooms condition after that length of time. Only after I said I would need to speak with housekeeping did you say your family was ill. As a mother and grandmother, I have the utmost admiration for moms.
This mid-range hotel (for Monterey) was the spot I selected to stay for my weekend in town after much deliberation between a number of spots. $200/night for a Best Western was a bit steep but it seemed in line with the overall higher prices in the area. The check-in process was quick and easy and the staff very helpful and friendly. The room I got was pretty spacious (possibly too much empty space?) but the room was spotless, clean, and comfortable. The bed was great and the bathroom shower had everything you need. The hotel had ample parking underground which was helpful and its location is a bit outside of downtown but only a 5 minute walk to the heart. My biggest complaint about the hotel was the noise - the walls and ceiling/floors seemed to be made of cardboard as I heard every noise. I had room 214 and I suggest asking for a change if you can as the room borders the lobby so I could hear the noise of all the people walking and talking there. You could also here every sound in the hallways and in the people on the floor above running around. The balcony was also right in the front of the building by the entrance so I heard everyone standing and hanging out there. Additionally, the mini-fridge didn't work so I wasn't able to keep my drinks cold. Those things were expected from a BW but a bit disappointing considering the price of this one.
This Best Western Plus Hotel will not disappoint when you awake from your comfortable slumber and have a delicious mouth watering waffle from their breakfast dining area. Furthermore, the staff was superb in response to any accomedations needed leading me to highly recommend this place at an affordable price.
I frequently stay in Best Western hotels because of their rewards program. I always look for affordable quality. This Best Western Plus hotel is beautiful and very conveniently located. It is very close to many attractions, restaurants, and malls. The staff is friendly, common areas as well as room are clean and cozy. For breakfast, I would have preferred more hot protein choices, but those available (plain scramble eggs and sausage) were acceptable and taste good. Excellent hotel choice.
Bed was adequate, room was clean, breakfast standard fare, friendly staff. Complaints- no microwave in our room and the breakfast area was a bit crowded but I would stay again. Those are minor inconveniences. Overall satisfactory experience.
After a not so pleasant stay at a Best Western in Santa Barbara this was quite the opposite. The room was spacious and since we were in the back extremely quite which along with nice beds made for a sound sleep. The location is by the "city center" near all historical buildings and the harbor just a 15 minute pleasant walk. The free, ample, underground parking with elevator access is a bonus in any city and this was very clean. The hotel personnel was very pleasant and provided maps of the city and the area. Breakfast was a well appointed buffet included in our rate. This is definitively a place to recommend.
At check-in I had trouble because hotels.com had not forwarded my reservations for 2 rooms to the hotel. I was asked to pay for the rooms again, which I did. I wrote a review the hotel and mentioned the mix-up. The manager responded, apologized for the error, which was actually hotel.com's error, and promptly refunded my 2nd room. (Hotels.com never refunded me, by the way!)
Great Best Western Plus -- our room was HUGE, bed comfortable, bath nice. Great continental brealfast (including scrambled eggs and sausages!). Our 3rd time here. Personnel are nice -- left some items in the room; after a conversation with front with front desk items were sent via UPS -- I was extremely happy to receive!!
This is a great Best Western. Wonderful checkin experience. The rooms are very spacious. We were upgraded to a fireplace and view room. It was very reasonably priced. So much nicer than the Best Western we stayed at in Ventura and we paid so much more in Ventura. It is a bit of a walk to Fishermans Wharf ( we are seniors). I would highly recommend this hotel.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Location is very good. Lots of restaurants within walking distance. Need a car for some of the other sites. All in all, our stay there was great and would recommend to others.
I got an incredibly low rate, so I was a bit worried about the quality and cleanliness of the hotel. Upon my arrival I was greeted by friendly staff and was glad to see my spacious and immaculately clean room. I will definitely come back.
We were encouraged to southern cal and decided to stay here. BW usually does not disappoint. We got a room at a reasonable price. The service was friendly and helpful and efficient. The room was very large and reasonably quiet, after the evening traffic calmed. The bathroom was clean and well stocked and bedding clean and comfortable. When we did our usual wipe down the wipes on the counters and nightstand came up dirty.. so a need for some better services. Good secure underground parking and the hotel offers the usual hot and cold breakfast from 7-10 am.
Guest rooms were spacious and tastefully appointed and included a coffeemaker and refrigerator AND a window that opens for fresh air. Items on the hot breakfast buffet were very well prepared, ie. tasty scrambled eggs and sausages perfectly cooked. A USA Today newspaper was available every AM plus fresh coffee and tea fixings (Keurig) in the lobby. Hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating. Rooms were very quiet and no bother from traffic noises.
Our room was comfortable and spacious, with a little 'fridge and coffee maker (no microwave). We could hear footsteps from the room above, but otherwise it was quiet. Next time we'll ask for a room in back - we had a bit of traffic noise in our room, which overlooked Abrego Street. Great service from the front desk. The covered parking was a nice touch.
Nice property. Wi-Fi easy to use. Room clean and updated. Easy walking to fisherman's wharf. Prices ok. Could offer better deals. We would stay again. Free parking a real plus. Breakfast included. Friendly and helpful staff.
Everything it was very nice and good...... so hold it back pretty soon again so I'll like the place ..... so for the future I'm going to save this place so I'm going to talk to my friends also to go there it's very quiet and nice
We stayed here for a quick visit, my son had to visit the mission in Carmel for his School project. I chose this location because it was located close to everything and the price was much less than a hotel in Carmel. Having young kids this hotel is close to the Dennis the menace park, and cannery row. There are many good options in the immediate area for food, and activities. The hotel is clean and they offered cookies at check in, along with tea and coffee. The breakfast had a great selection. Eggs, sausage, waffles, yogurt, donuts, bread for toast, cereal, oatmeal, fruit and juices. There was plenty of seating in the dining area. The hotel staff was friendly and I would stay at this location again when visiting Carmel/Monterey area. If you are a light sleeper, I would suggest asking for a room away from the ice machine. The WiFi worked well, no issues!
Very nice hotel that is clean and well kept with kind staff. Rooms have a refrigerator and a coffee maker. Great location and walking distance to some main attractions such as: cannery row and wharf/pier.
Welcoming exterior, and nice, comfortable, quiet and spacious rooms with good amenities. In December, it was nicely decorated for Christmas and the heat worked well. Staff is very nice - lots of smiling. Internet speed is good and consistent. Breakfast had a good variety with hot items - waffles, scrambled eggs and sausage. The only issue is the breakfast room is very small, so it gets crowded. About a half mile walk to the wharf. Almost everything is a couple of minutes by car.
The Best Western Plus Monterey Inn is in a great location, we were able to easily walk downtown, to the Warf, and to Cannery Row from this hotel. All of the staff went above and beyond to help us and make us feel welcomed.
We've stayed in different hotels when we go to Monterey for golf tournaments or family trips but this is one of the BW hotels we've stayed, convenient location, very clean, good breakfast, excellent value.
Great location and great customer service at this Best Western. The property is nicely updated, very clean and a great value. Free parking and free breakfast. The breakfast is what you might expect at a BW - nothing fancy, but a nice bonus. The coffee was actually decent! The entire property was VERY clean, the bed was quite comfortable, and the staff was amazing. If you are looking for an affordable hotel in a good location, this is a solid choice. Walk to restaurants, the wharf, and Del Monte Shopping Center.
The exterior of this place is nice, the room we had was spacious and clean. BUT, the bed was horrible, we might as well have put our blankets on the floor! I had also requested a room in a quiet zone. What we got was right next to the elevator! Not only was the mechanism itself loud all night, we could constantly hear peoples conversations and kids running, yelling as if they were in our room. I did not call the desk as we had turned in earlier than most and by the time the noise started we had already gone to bed ( floor). The site says " walking distance" to the wharf and Cannery Row. Only true if you are young and fit with no children in tow. The free breakfast is next to impossible to get, a very small room that is way too packed. We didn't even bother to fight it..We just know not to go back here in the future.
Great little place to stay in central Monterey. Walking distance to downtown; with shops good restaurants and sites to see. Nicer than standard Best Western with all the amenities that you would need. Clean, nicely furnished and great staff that takes care of you. Rates though vary depending upon season, so just be aware; not bad, just how it is. But very reasonable and good dollar value! Our friends and us like this place to stay when we visit the area.
A clean, well-stocked room (the "oversize" Kings with fireplace, and the "oversize" 2 Queens with cross-ventilation and balcony are especially nice) in a great location for a decent price. Very friendly and helpful staff, easy covered parking, a clean hot tub (pool was under renovation)...we had a great stay and would return. Yes, the breakfast room is small, but there's a Denny's one block away and a French bakery across the street. Nice people nice place, nice price.
The location is very good if you like to walk downtown. We had the deluxe king room which had a nice living room and fireplace and king bed, with ocean view- only 129 and 139 per night. Definitely recommend!
We needed to get out of the valley and into some sunshine. Our 60 year wedding anniversary said go for a visit to our first place that we lived in 1957..We did not expect luxury, just a nice clean place in walking range of restaurants and the wharf. We always look for Best Western Plus for a nice stay. Our experience came up a little short. Breakfast was a few minutes late opening, the coffee in the lobby was just warm, you know---
We stayed here the last 2 times we have been in Monterey. Overall the rooms are nice. The only thing we find lacking is the size of the television in the room and quality in picture. Bring your laptop or iPad. The staff here is VERY nice and accommodating. Both times we have been here it has been in December and my son really likes the christmas decoration in the lobby. The breakfast is made up of sausage, scrambled eggs, waffles, assorted muffins and doughnuts, cereal, coffee, oj and apple juice. The staff keeps everything extremely clean and stocked. They even have a variety of hot cocoa and coffee to go at the lobby which we really appreciate.
This is a very nice Hotel. And has recently been updated with a fresh appearance. Accommodations were very comfortable. The look and feel is very modern. This location is central and conveniently located to shopping, attractions, and the beach. Easy drive to many landmarks and points of interest.
Big rooms-much larger than most hotels and very comfortable bed; clean; paper thin walls; refrigerator; nothing to eat in rooms; nothing over the top, very basic. Breakfast is basic, do it yourself type breakfast. Helpful staff; underground parking but not secured good for price.
If your looking for a great budget hotel in a very expensive area, you must try this hotel. It's the only place I stay now. Close to everything, well kept, friendly staff, very clean all over, great breakfast included
The only major thing the bed was way to firm for us. The pillows were too soft. Didn't sleep very well. The rest of the hotel was tidy and clean. Staff was friendly and accomidating. Breakfast great!!
This stay was a bit of an experiment on our part. Our last visit to Monterey, a favorite of ours, was marred by a less than satisfactory experience at a competitive hotel brand. This caused us to look around for a better experience. Check in and out was flawless by the same two people. Room was comfortable and quiet with a distant view of Monterey Bay and the piers jutting out into the bay. Have to say the description stating that the piers/restaurants were a short walk was not very accurate for my 80 year old legs! The hotel was very clean and presented itself well. Will say that some of the decor was a bit dated in my opinion. We felt the breakfast room was very small with no way to distance ourselves from some loudmouths that dominated the little room. Some people NEVER learn to shut up! There is a strong probability that we will return in the future.
This is a great place to stay. The staff are helpful. It is close to shopping and attractions in Monterey. It is quiet. The breakfast is wonderful. I always stay here when I travel to Monterey. The rooms are nicely decorated.
Pros: Free parking in underground garage, nicely appointed and updated rooms that appeared very clean. Nice and helpful staff. Great value for the price. Cons: a bit of a walk to the wharf, & beds were too firm for me.
Staff was very kind and gracious. Rooms and facilities were very clean. We usually stay at the hotel next door. This hotel offers free breakfast also free coffee/tea throughout the day. The breakfast is satisfying but could use some fresher pastries and maybe out door seating . We would maybe stay again if can get get a higher floor. Unfortunately the room above us sounded like they were rearranging the furniture at 7am. Really upsetting ! Great location . Lots of parking.
My son and I stayed in October for two nights, while enjoying the Monterey Bay Aquarium, Cannery Row, Fisherman's Wharf and 17 Mile Drive. Reasonably priced, quiet, and included parking and a full good breakfast. I found the room got a little warmer than I like at night (I am from Northern Ontario,Canada!) and couldn't figure out the thermostat... but did not spend time trying or ask anyone, and simply opened the balcony doors for a bit. I had read reviews that this hotel was not air conditioned, which would be a downside for me during a hot summer season. Staff were pleasant, welcoming, and helpful, from front desk to cleaning staff to breakfast room. We really liked that the hotel was within easy walking distance of restaurants, a variety of stores, and Fisherman's Wharf.
The hotelis modern but with comfortable rooms even though walls are very thin so nnoise could be a problem. The Frosn Desk staff were very good - friendly and always willing to help ot chat whenever we wandered through. Breakfast was ordinary but tasty enough not a good selection of herbal teas though. A good location for gettinbg downtown etc as all within walking distance. The underground parking is a real asset!
Very comfortable room with frig. Good internet, hot breakfast. Great location within walking distance to wharf, historic museum, Walking paths, and great restaurants. Aquarium and cannery row also near by. Hotel is quiet, very clean.
My wife and I recently spent 3 nights here. The location was good - less than 20 minutes walk to Fisherman's wharf for us oldies, yet easy to drive to and from. It has the benefit of a free underground car park with lifts to all the hotel floors which is very useful for such a central hotel. Staff were pleasant for the most part and the receptionist who checked us in and helped us in respect of car parking in the city was extremely pleasant and helpful (unfortunately I did not get her name.) The room was a good size and nicely furnished and well-equipped (although no room safe) and the bed was very comfortable. The room was spotlessly clean (always our top priority). For the most part it was very quiet and we had no complaints. Our only criticism relates to breakfast where the room just isn't big enough at popular times, and the dishes were not replenished quickly enough. On our first morning we were a little later than intended and missed out on some items and were unable to eat in the breakfast room. As a result we ate earlier than we would have wished on the remaining 2 mornings in order to ensure an adequate meal in comparative comfort in the breakfast room. Overall though an enjoyable stay in a good hotel and fair value for such a hotel in this location.
This hotel was in a great central location, it was very clean with great beds and a helpful staff. Parking was free along with a decent breakfast. I would have rated this place a 5 but it didn't have A/C. The excuse is they don't need A/C because of Monterey's cool weather and admittedly very few hotels in town had A/C. However, hotel rooms don't have cross ventilation so it takes most of the night to cool the room down from 75 to 80 degrees with the sliding door wide open which also means you hear traffic noise and trash trucks in the middle of the night. Also A/C would have provide white noise to cover up the noise coming through the thin walls and the hallway.
Spent two nights at this hotel. The location is perfect for just about anything you would want to do in downtown Monterey. Parking under the hotel is also very convenient. Our room was nice and large with a balcony and fireplace. The staff was very friendly. I would stay here again.
We decided to stay in Monterey and checked out several places before deciding on this hotel.Glad we did. Good value and friendly staff.Breakfast was limited but good.About a 10 minute walk to the pier but was well lit and in a good area.Very quiet hotel. We had a huge corner room. We will definately consider this hotel when back in the Monterey area.
We only stayed here one night on a road trip along the coast. The lobby was very nice but seemed a little overdone - while the fountain is cool, the money that went into that should be placed in a bigger breakfast area and soundproofing the rooms. Seems silly to waste the money on a lobby fountain. The room was very clean and nice, no issues at all with that, but we were located on the first floor and the soundproofing in this hotel is atrocious! You hear everything!!! It's like a herd of elephants were staying above us and it sounded like Party Central out in the hall. It's very tough to get a good night sleep here because of inconsiderate guests and very poor sound proofing. We did have to call the front desk because of the "herd of elephants" above is and these guests above us seemed to knock it off once the front desk was called. But still, this place is in dire need of soundproofing! This hotel is in downtown Monterey, I guess, but you really wouldn't want to walk anywhere. It's just kind of far, and easier to drive. The hotel doesn't have a fitness center (boo!!), no laundry facilities and the pool and hot tub are outdoors and you must stroll through the front lobby in order to access this. My sister and I thought that was odd and kind of creepy - I don't want to walk through the lobby in my swimsuit. There should be another entrance for the pool. Breakfast wasn't very good. It's worse than standard hotel breakfasts (I'm not expecting a 5 star meal here) but compared to other BW properties, this wasn't good. VERY CROWDED, TINY room, and the food was extremely poor quality, except the make-your-own waffles (because, obviously, you make them fresh). Watery eggs, cold sausages, bad fruit and watery OJ. The coffee was okay. I probably wouldn't stay here again, only because of the poor soundproofing.
Nice , clean, large room with one sliding door for ventilation. The light bulbs were low level and not good for reading or putting on makeup. There was no AC (it is usually cool in Monterey) but you could adjust the heat level. The bed was OK but stiff, sheets were OK but cheap. The towels were excellent, big soft and fluffy. The shower had a crummy shower head that didn't have good pressure ( not enough water flow ). No microwave in the room. I liked the new furniture, it looked good and I enjoyed the balcony for some outdoor experience. Overall, typical BW experience, good for the money. Location is great!
The hotel is positioned perfectly - few blocks and short walk to the Pier. It is very clean and the stuff is just wonderful. Rooms are spacious and we liked covered garage. We used it for our weekend stay in Monterey. It is a great option for the budget hotel.
We booked this hotel at the last minute due to the original hotel not being what was shown online. We had a great stay here, clean & comfortable room with friendly staff throughout our stay. The breakfast offered was simple but tasty. Hotel lobby was welcoming and pleasant. Great location and place to stay for a couple or family. We will definitely stay here again!
my husband and I rented a house in the canyon outside of Big Sur. We needed a place to stay for 1 night. We booked here because of the price and location until we check in at the house we are renting for a week. Wow! The room, the lobby, the grounds the hotel itself is immaculate. The staff welcoming and super friendly. Close to the wharf, Cannery Row, Lovers Point, Carmel Everything!! I would be fine spending my whole week here. The breakfast was hot and fresh just enough to get your day going. And if that's not enough for you go to the Denny's around the corner. Super nice, super clean, super friendly staff, super rate, super spacious room and comfortable bed. Super stay! immacu
we stayed for 2 nights and everything was great. Very close to the warf and the beach. Breakfast is free and there is not a huge selection but everything was good and for it being free it was great! much better than other hotels I have been to.
A nice property well located for attractions. Rooms sizeable and comfortable. Breakfast is included and is adequate. Coffee available most of the day. Staff are pleasant and helpful. Undercover parking is also on site.
booked 2 rooms for a wedding. 1 of the rooms I booked was a handicap King. I called in late August/early September to change the King to 2 queens instead, since my husband passed away on August 23 & we didn't need the handicap King, but need another 2 queens. I was quoted a much higher price than the other queen I had booked, so I just kept the handicap King, which kept someone else that needed a handicap King from getting one. We did enjoy our stay very much even though we were only there to sleep
Our trip was to go to Napa, but the fires cancelled everything, looked for a hotel in Monterey and found this hotel on the internet. We were able to walk to everywhere we wanted to go due to it's location. Great place
not pleased with service. Staff rude to my family who traveled from Seattle Washington to celebrate their 30th Wedding anniversary. They requested a change of room and their request was not honored. They were told that they had other rooms but they were reserved . The room was the same as theirs just on the other side of the hotel. My family members reserved there room back in July 2017??? and stayed for 4 days.
Fine stay. Noisy as you hear everything in the corridor. Clean, comfortable. Breakfast ok but very small dining area. Not really walkable to any restaurants unfortunately but otherwise a lovely stay. Would come back.
Pros - clean, very good continental breakfast, great staff, and good location to downtown within walking distance. Cons - no step-in shower/tub for handicap or wheelchair accessible, and very tight parking within 2 levels.
This hotel is in a perfect location, near attractions, Whole Foods and Denny's if you really need to get your grub on late at night. The staff is very friendly, unlike The Hyatt, where I was always made to feel I was bothering them. They even provide batter to make your own waffles :) Only thing missing is a restaurant and room service.
Great hotel in a great location. Staff at check in were very friendly and helpful, giving us excellent directions and dining tips. The room was very comfortable and reasonably priced. Breakfast had a lot to choose from. We would stay here again!
Stayed here for 3 nights whilst visiting Monterey. Pleasant hotel with all services you would require. Short walk to the Wharf and town centre. Good location if you want to drive to Pebble Beach golf course. I would also recommend Princess tours for all Whale watching.
We have stay the Best Western Monterey Inn twice before and this time was the best. The rooms are some of the best that we have had on out vacation this year. The staff are all very pleasant and helpful always willing to share their knowledge and experience. The breakfast is always good and well prepared by the staff
The room was great with a large balcony. Staff was wonderful and very accommodating. The only issues were: no air conditioning (had to leave the sliders open at night, and at times it was noisy outside), poor lighting in the seating area, and only cable TV to watch (couldn't watch new movies). The area was great and so was the dinning n cannery row. Would definitely visit again.
We stayed two nights here. We used it as a base to explore Monterey. It was close to the trolley, which took us to the piers and Cannery Row. The Hotel was clean; our room was huge; the Staff was most helpful and very efficient. A good quality, 'basic' Breakfast was on hand to give us a great start to the Day. I would certainly recommend this hotel for an overnight on the way down the coast; great for re-charging the batteries.
Our stay here was OK I guess but there were a few things we were unaware of before we arrived. No air conditioning being the main one. Had we have known that we may have stayed elsewhere. The room had a funky smell and opening the sliding door helped although that then created the issue of noise. Beds were extremely uncomfortable and we had what sounded like a heard of elephants in the room above us. Kudos to the front desk though, when we asked them to check, the noise lessened significantly. Breakfast was adequate and location wise this hotel was good. Staff were lovely.
Booked this property months ago due to the price and location in pricey Monterey. Even though it was after Labor Day, prices are still a bit high for the location. I asked for a room on the top floor, was given one on the second floor. And unfortunately there was guests in the room above us and they were very noisy, walked around most of the night. Our room was very odd. It was very large, with a king sized bed on one side of the room and then two straight back chairs on the other with a small table. I think they could make better use of the space, perhaps a comfortable chair and ottoman or maybe a love seat. Perhaps this room used to accommodate two double beds. Anyway, there is a shower in the bathroom only, but it was small and there was no place to put your shampoo, conditioner, etc. Odd! And as previously reported, they have no A/C. You can open the sliding glass door, however, there is a lot of road noise if you are trying to sleep. The ceiling fan works well and there is a refrigerator, but no microwave. They are apparently an energy efficient hotel, but the lighting in the room is not the best for reading. WiFi was ok, not the best connection. Parking underneath was plentiful, but consider this was not peak season. Location is ok, you can certainly walk to the downtown area if you are in shape for walking.
This was our first stay after leaving San Francisco. The reception wasn't the most friendliest around! So when you get over the initial old spice smell in the room it's not too bad. No air con but comfortable enough. You get breakfast included but a bit of advice? Get down there early as there are only about 25 seats! So it does get busy. That said the food is really nice, sausages, scrambled eggs, cook your own waffles(loved that) toast and cereal all available.
Very nice and clean room, seems to be very safe area, Hotel staff are very friendly and helpful, Nice hot tub and pool area, Breakfast was good, could have more choices. Great blocation for attractions.
This property has no air conditioning and we spent two sweltering nights here over Labor Day weekend. There is a ceiling fan over the bed and a sliding glass door that opens, but there is no other ventilation in the room. Other than that the hotel is bcomfortable and clean and I would stay here again in cooler weather.
This is a nice, clean hotel. IMPORTANT: most hotels in Monterey DO NOT have air conditioning. This one doesn't either. The only downfall of this hotel. They offer a hot breakfast which was good. I will definitely stall here, just as long as the temp outside is 75 and below.
Good location. We walked to center of town and fisherman's pier. Many restaurants within walking distance. Need to drive to Cannery row or take local complimentary trolley car shuttle as was too far to walk. Rooms were large ,clean, comfortable.
I love this hotel! Everytime I visit Monterey I stay at this hotel - good price and value. Clean, comfortable beds, friendly staff, great location and fast internet. I have never had a single issue with this hotel which is why I am leaving this review. I travel often and stay in countless hotels, this one is reliably great! Thanks Kim and Best Western staff :)
Room was great, clean, comfortable, cozy. There was no A/C, but it wasn't need. Ceiling fan worked just fine! Food was great, service was Amazing! It is what you hope for when you stay away from home. They even put their personal touches and went above and beyond! Well worth every cent we paid!
I have nothing but positive things to say about our stay. The hotel was beautiful and spotless. The front desk and housekeeping staff were friendly and pleasant. The breakfast was varied enough to meet most people's needs (cereal, waffles, eggs, sausage, fruit, yogurt, etc.). Staff was continuously maintaining it. No parking problems as there is nice underground parking.I would definitely recommend it.
A very good hotel not the most modern hotel but the location was brilliant great car parking good, breakfast lovely big room which was great for family. Very clean my husband loved the power shower. Would definitley recommend
So from Las Vegas, to L.A. to Monterey..... Well late check in as we drove from L.A. and road works etc. But got in eventually tired and just wanting to go to bed.and toilet break...to be advised we would have see about another hotel and no toilet available as they had no water and it'd be down 3 to 4 hrs.... they eventually let my other half use the loo. They did have water but it was not for human consumption... So no shower or toilet facilities.. bottled water provided. Not good so far and we've been here an hr. I will be emailing customer services to think people pay $159 per night...

I apologize for the water issue during your stay. As you mentioned, there was break in the water main a few blocks down the street from our property. Fortunately, water was restored within an hour and although the water was discolored (due to sediment) when the tap was turned on, it cleared after running the for several minutes. I can understand your disappointment, however, the problem was completely out of our control and you were given the option to cancel your reservation.
Went for a Mother & Daughter stay B4 college. Clean, safe, enjoyable stay. Hot breakfast helped for a day of touring Monterey. The swimming pool and hot tub hit the spot in the afternoons. Quality pool towels. Easy parking. Two level parking garage. Location-very close to Dennis the Menace park. Close to trail to walk, jog, bike along the coast and to Fishermans Wharf, Cannery Row.
Super clean hotel with decent continental breakfast daily. Maintenance people and housekeeping friendly entire stay. The front desk people are rather unfriendly and would just stare at me and my family if we got complimentary coffee/tea. Never welcomed us into hotel every time we would leave to do something and come back would just stare and make you feel uncomfortable. No workout facility.

Thank you for your recent review of our property. I was pleased to know you enjoyed your stay and the service provided by most of the staff. We value your patronage and I apologize that you were uncomfortable with the reception given by the front desk. I do appreciate your taking the time to post your comments.
Stayed here for 2 nights over a beautiful weekend in July with my 12 year old daughter. We paid $300 a night for room that was worth $150 a night, tops. The room was clean, spacious, and provided the basics. The pool closed at 9pm on Friday night, which was a huge disappointment because we had ordered pizzas to eat at the pool with friends. The pizzas arrived late. Needless to say, we were kicked out of the pool area and had to reconvene in the lobby, where we were informed by the front desk that we were being too loud (which was probably true). Still, the whole situation was poorly handled by the front desk. The breakfast is low quality, but fee, so not worth complaining about. One positive is that the hotel is within walking distance to shopping, restaurants and coffee, which was a plus. This is a Best Western, and delivers what you would expect, and likely better than many of the other options in the immediate area. That being said, I wouldn't choose to stay here again, especially for $300 a night.
We live in the Sacramento Valley and it was 106 the day we left to go to Monterey I wanted an inexpensive hotel and I always stay at best Western if I have a chance. They're like fast food you know you're guaranteed A great stay!
We stopped at Monterey for whale watching (amazing) and the Aquarium (the best part was the Jellyfish) - The Hotel is really satisfying. About 1 mile from the Fisherman's wharf where the Whale watching starts, from there we walked through the Canary row to the Aquarium and back using the free Trolly - so location is good and quiet! Room and breakfast were very satisfying. Only the price was too high and (small thing was that there is no microwave in the room so we had to use the dining room one)
The hotel is very clean and in a good location. Our room faced the busy street which was an issue when it was time to sleep. Since there is no A/C or central fan ventilation system you have to leave the patio door open to get outside fresh air. The street was very noisy. If I were to stay again I would request a room that didn't face the street. The free breakfast was very good and adequately stocked. The staff is very nice! This is one of the better Best Westerns I've stayed in.
Super disappointed in this hotel. Pool closed at 9....very early. Breakfast was very very crowded with terrible coffee. Rooms were dated and not very clean, same for lobby and breakfast room. Front desk staff at check in was not very friendly and acted like we were an imposition being there. I would spend more money per night for a better experience next time!

I am sorry you did not enjoy your stay with us. I do appreciate your taking the time to post your comments.
This property is in a good location to see the sights of Monterey. The rooms are large and comfortable. The staff is friendly and efficient. We wondered if a Best Western was worth the money $200 US per night but were please with this. It had a good breakfast included as was indoor parking. The WiFi was free and reasonably good. It probably is less expensive on other days as we were there on the July 4th weekend.
BW Monterey Inn was a great hotel with our room facing the trees and no buildings. A stepout small portico was a great feature for fresh air and a desk for easy internet connection was welcome. Parking was easy with elevator connection to lower levels.
Stayed at this hotel for four days while running the Big Sur marathon. It's a no-frills hotel but is being kept in good condition and without hassle. The free breakfast is your typical fare which was fine for me. Hotel is located close enough to walk to all the downtown sites. Nice, safe choice close to the airport!
Clean rooms, spotless bathrooms with great water pressure, hallways and rooms smell fresh, and it's the perfect location in town! The staff really takes care of their visitors and the property!! It shows when you have a happy staff who love their jobs...we had an excellent stay because the whole place felt welcoming! Thank you, because of you, we will be back again!!!
We stayed here for one night of a road trip. A very decent mid range hotel. Breakfast was good and the rooms were clean and very spacious. The pool and Jacuzzi were nice also. We would stay here again.
nice hotel quiet and discreet with professional kind staff .a 10 min walk to beach and pier with shops along the way . room was next to reception and was a tad noisy in morning as folk going for free breakfast .
Thanks for everything, Location is excellent, service is good and breakfast is always good, love the people and everything is so close to walking distance, kids love the pool and the hot tub, the liked the free towels at the desk.Rigo
visited the hotel 2 weeks ago for 6 nights for business. checking in was very easy and parking as well with a lot of parking space. I had a parcel send over there and it wasn't to big so they didn't have any problem with that even when it came 2 days before my arrival. The room is very nice i had a twin king bedroom and eventough there's no airconditioning the ceiling fan did it's job keeping it cool and was very silent. The shower i like a lot because it's not in a bathtub but if you like a bath there wasn't any in my room. (there is a small pool outside) breakfast was just ok not that many seats and the choice isn't that much but it will do. Location is nice it's a walking distance to the pier and also close to a shopping center with a lot of nice restaurants.
The Best Western Plus Monterey Inn, Monterey CA is a very good motel to stay at. The staff is very friendly and help out the best they can. I have recommended this motel to friends. I would recommend this motel to anyone
This hotel was nice and clean; cleanliness is something I always look for in hotels. The pool was nice too. Their breakfast was good and they have cookies out in the lobby anytime of day. It's a short drive to the wonderful restaurants and sights in the area. We had a chance to watch the sunset on the beach, go to Monterey Bay's fisherman's warf, and went whale watching. My favorite part of the hotel was the costumer service. The employees at this hotel were absolutely wonderful. They were kind, attentive, and went out of their way to help us. This is what costumer service should always be like. We would absolutely stay there again when visiting Monterey Bay, Carmel By The Sea, or even Big Sur.
As said our fourth visit over c20 years - so good don't even look at other accommodation. Never been let down. Staff very pleasant and informative. Well positioned, easy walk to water front. Good free parking, good sized rooms, 2 queen beds for us, clean and comfortable, more than adequate breakfast with items regularly replaced and room kept clean and tidy. Pool spotless a comfortably furnished. Took advice from reception to use Chris's Whale Watching tour which was great (they know where the regulars are) which lead to a super restaurant recommendation Cafe Fina on the Wharf.
We arrived too early to check in, but were able to park there & walk downtown for the July 4th parade. Loved the location~just a15 minute walk down the hill to the waterfront. This hotel was great~friendly staff, well-kept grounds, clean & comfortable rooms, and a nice breakfast each morning. No air conditioning, but with the ceiling fan & sliding door onto the balcony, stayed nice and cool. Would definitely stay again!
We were there as a family over the 4th of July weekend and very much enjoyed our stay. Price was a little high for BW+ rates that we have been used to but compared to the other options available, it was the best value. We enjoyed spacious and very clean rooms, free breakfast with fresh waffles, scrambled eggs, several other goodies. Sons and daughter enjoyed the heated pool. Covered parking was nice. Staff was very friendly and we had no trouble connecting the Internet. I highly recommend this hotel.
We had a nice stay. The bed was too hard for me but my wife liked it, so personal preference there. Overall liked it a lot. The location is good but not amazing. It is a bit of a treck to get to most the food locations and fishermans warf on foot. Only a 2 min drive though.
While not downtown, you are so close you appreciate the cost savings and appearance are great. No A/C, but we never missed it. You should consider this property if you will be in the area! We will return.
Breakfast is average, missing thinks like cream cheese. Quality of the food need to improve. Room has a good size with fireplace but furniture is old and shower low pressure. One good think is that elevator stop in garage level.
Excellent hotel for the price. We were able to leave our balcony door open during the night. The bed was very comfortable and the room was spacious and very clean. Parking was off street and near the elevators. All staff were wonderful.
This motel, has underground parking with elevator. It is centrally located. Possible to walk to restaurants and some historic sites. Trolley available in summer and its free. Ask desk for stops. Breakfast room is small so time when you go or eat in lobby.
This hotel has gone to great lengths to recently upgrade their rooms, and from a design and fittings perspective have done a fabulous job. They are really well and tastefully appointed. BUT .. the walls are paper thin. Upon arriving they put us initially in a room on the top floor, which we usually like, but its was near the lift and we could here every opening and shutting of the lift, not only on our floor, but also the next one down. So the very willingly moved us to another room on the middle floor, away from the lift. Everything was great, or so it seemed until we got in from dining out, and we could hear everything people were saying in the adjoining room. The walls are paper thin, and there was no going to sleep until those in the adjoining room went to sleep. Very disappointing given now nicely the rooms are decoated and laid out.
Great location within walking distance to everything. The staff was extremely helpful. The breakfast was not good at all. However the lady running the breakfast was very nice. Other than that we enjoyed our stay very much.
This hotel is very convenient to Fisherman's Wharf and Cannery Row. Friendly staff at check-in. Good sized rooms - felt like we had space to stretch out. Beds were very comfortable. Nice décor in hallways - picked up the Monterey theme.
Great hotel, Clean, Friendly, decent breakfast, close to food and stores, walking distant to them and the wharf. Ceiling fan in room, coffee, fridge, nice shower and comfortable bed. Coffee also in lobby.
This isn't the worst hotel that I've stayed at but I would not recommend that anyone stay here unless you have too. The room was not clean and it was very expensive. Part of that was my fault for not booking a hotel well in advance but, If you book in advance you can find better value at other hotels in the exact same area. Not to mention you will save money.
This property is very conveniently located to see the sites of Monterey and the Aquarium. We walked to the historic downtown, local businesses and a great park for kids (Dennis the Menace Park). It was a short drive to the Monterey Bay Aquarium and a short drive to Carmel. The staff was friendly, the room quiet, clean and spacious. (We had a room with 2 double beds.) Breakfast was a real convenience, although it was not the most complete breakfast buffet I've experienced; choices were rather limited. There is an outdoor pool and hot-tub. Monterey is cool, so I expect the hot tub is the busiest.
Driving up the North Pacific highway and heating in land to Yosemite np this was a stop of point for us and it was perfect after the long drive. We got in late and we're very glad to see it free parking what a bonus and breakfast it was nice just to get some toast the room was grand noting special ground floor big again it was a disabled friendly room cos of this and there was no acknowledgement on your wedding for these reason they get marked down
We loved this location! Free parking....awesome breakfast....meh on the coffee...little pool...but a great location! We got one of the 2 bedroom suites which was great for our family of 5. It had a nice patio with a full table and 4 chairs with extra room to hang out in. We loved it! We purchased our tickets to the aquarium there (2 day pass)...just need cash to purchase, no credit cards. We then walked a couple blocks down and got on the free trolley that took us into town. Kids loved it! It drops you off right next to the aquarium...there are several stops along the way if you want to get off. Breakfast was awesome! Kids really liked it! Word to the wise...tall people..do not sit on the bench seating along the wall. I can't tell you how many people hit their head on the lamps above the tables. 3-4 each day we were there, and that's just in the time frame we were there! Great assortment of goodies though! We will be back again for sure!
Monterey was where we went to for our honeymoon 22 years ago, and we keep coming back couple times a year, to renew our memory and our great time together. And Monterey Inn takes a good part in our plan every time: it provides us the pleasant ambience of feeling at home, with good friendship and great service from all staff, as well as all the amenities of the hotel..... Will continue coming back until we have to give up traveling.....
The Best Western in Monterey offered a large, clean room, free internet, hot breakfast and friendly staff! We stayed for 3 nights and were treated very well and provided a very clean, comfortable environment.
Stay was excellent but I believe in all hotel / motel rooms should have shower caps. They provide shampoo and conditioner but most do not always provide a shower cap. Location to attractions was very good. Great reviews for dinning.
Highly recommend this hotel. very clean and well kept. easy ample parking. great morning breakfast. very friendly staff throughout. good location, close to many restaurants and attractions. no ac in the rooms, only heater, but it wasn't needed.
This hotel was VERY clean and neat. Classy look without high prices for nice area located in area with other nice hotels. I liked this location away from the busy tourist area and traffic. All looked new and good condition. I would go to this hotel again
Poor neighborhood, dingy carpets and rooms. No air conditioning. Tasteless and inedible breakfast. I would highly recommend staying somewhere else if you are in Monterrey- Also, one elevator was broken with no estimate of repair
Diane S, Manager at Best Western Plus Monterey Inn, responded to this review
I am sorry you did not have enjoyable stay. Only 1 in 3 properties on the Monterey Peninsula offer air conditioning due to our temperate climate. With reference to the elevator, repairs were delayed due to the holiday weekend.
We made the very last minute decision. I think there will be no next time there. Room smelled like dental office when we walked in. Only one staff was caring and smiling (I thought this is normal in this type of business). there is a street right down there and cars passing through, and construction noise from someplace in the woods. I can keep going more.

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments. I apologize for the issues during your stay. I only wish we were made aware of them as we could have provided assistance. I do appreciate your consideration.
The service was great felt like home recommend this place 100% MS.Elsa Mayfield treated us like family I was really welcomed here would recommend it for the price and the service can't go wrong will make you feel like home.
Perfect location for prowling around old town Monterey. On-site parking a plus. Hotel is within walking distance of the waterfront. Front desk staff was very friendly. Room was spacious, comfortable and quiet. Breakfast was decent although a little cramped. Overall, a very good experience.
We have stayed at this Best Western many times over the years when we have been in town to visit family. It is a convenient location for walking to the wharf and downtown-although it is a bit of a walk. The rooms are clean and comfortable. There is no air conditioning but there are ceiling fans. The breakfast area was being remodeled while we were there so the breakfast was very limited and served in the lobby. There is a parking garage with free parking which is nice. This hotel is good value for the price.
Loved the location and onsite parking. Rooms were very comfortable and quiet. Staff was very helpful. Breakfast was very good and got us off to a good start each day. Close to the places that we wanted to visit with our family. Enjoyed our stay. Very convenient.
Stayed here for Big Sur Marathon weekend. The room was very nice and roomy. I had a little balcony, tiny actually, but nice to have the door open. There is no AC and I didn't need it, the temperature was very comfortable. Only drawback was that it was a bit noisy outside in the evening - not too bad though and I was going to bed early. The staff were very nice, very helpful. On marathon morning they had a small breakfast laid out at 2am, I real surprise! It's 0.8 miles from the wharf, or the beach, the perfect distance for a nice walk.
The BW Monterey Inn is a fine place to stay in location where their are many choices. The rooms are large, bed very comfortable, plentiful room amenities. The only downside is the interior walls are thin. Street noise is almost non existent. The complimentary continental breakfast is adequate in a very clean although crowded space. Indoor parking is plentiful. The location is a pleasant walk to downtown and the wharf. The staff demonstrated the best in hospitality. First time here and look forward to returning. Very pleased.
We had a wonderful time and surely enjoyed our visit. Loved the unlimited coffee, tea and cookies throughout the stay. Great restaurants and shops close by. Was impressed with the choices at breakfast time.
I was really surprised by this Best Western. We normally stay at Starwood Resorts but decided to try this place since I had to get 2 rooms (1 for my family, 1 for my parents). I thought it was a good bargain for what you got and the location was decent... one morning we walked to the bakery across the street. We didn't have time to hang out at the pool and ate minimally at the breakfast (looked like powdered eggs and typical store-bought breakfast pastries). The staff was very nice and I thought the place was clean. We had a good stay and I would recommend it if you are on a budget!
Great place for family's excellent location and price, rooms clean plenty of towels and hot breakfast. When we come back this will definitely be the hotel we choose to stay in. We couldn't of picked a better place
If you don't mind the floor creaking and shaking overhead every when the people in the room above walk around and if you enjoy hearing all of the conversations in the rooms above and next to yours, this hotel is a perfect fit! The staff are very nice, but that doesn't make up for the poor quality of the hotel building.
Diane S, General Manager at Best Western Plus Monterey Inn, responded to this review
Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. I am very sorry the guests above you were so noisy and that we were unable to move you to another room during your stay with us. I appreciate you letting me know that the staff was nice. I hope that you will give us another opportunity to better accommodate you in the future.
This hotel was a great place to stay while handling business at my Monterey branch. Clean facilities and an extremely accommodating staff. The parking was convenient making it easy to go to and from the room as needed. Will definitely stay here again.
For a $200 price tag, I expect more from the Best Western product than this hotel offered. The location was nice, but the breakfast area was tiny, dull and offered limited breakfast items. There was a wall fountain that was pretty and all, but it really served no function. The money spent on the fountain could have gone to expanding the breakfast area and making the lobby roomier. The office manager got defensive with me when I asked to speak with her about my concerns. The rooms itself was nice, and the parking structure was clean and easy to navigate.
Diane S, General Manager at Best Western Plus Monterey Inn, responded to this review
Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. I appreciate you letting us know what you liked about the hotel; our guest rooms, the cleanliness of our property as well as the convenient parking garage. I apologize that you felt our breakfast room fell short of your expectation. Unfortunately restricted to local ordinances we are unable to expand the breakfast room at this time. We do however allow guests to enjoy their breakfast in the lobby or in their room when space is unavailable in the breakfast room. Again thank you for submitting your review
1. Fantastic helpful staff 2. Excellent pool area, the pool was very warm and the hot tub was actually hot 3. Breakfast was pretty good with all different kinds of items 4.The deluxe room with extra space has a great view and balcony and has wonderful space so we're not all on top of each other 5. Ample parking and centrally located 6. Keurig and tea in the lobby. I would love to see either pay per view movies or DVD checkouts at the front desk. That would have been great on one of our early in evenings. Without hesitation we will stay next time we are in town!
Spacious rooms, spotless and clean, comfortable stay. I was very happy here. The only "drawback" is that it is a walk to Fisherman's Wharf (about a mile and a half) , and then another quarter mile to Cannery Row. However, the distance gave us a chance to explore Monterey, and the walk from Fisherman's Wharf to Cannery Row was simply incredible, with beautiful ocean view and a spot to see frolicking seals. If we had stayed in the middle of the action, we may not have been incentivized to walk as much. From the aquarium, we took a Lyft back since the area is a bit sketchy after dark. A 15 minute ride back ($9~)
The room size is adequate, with a small sitting area and a desk with chair. The price includes a "Breakfast," but the quality is not worth it. The scrambled eggs and sausage are not very tasty; and the waffle-baker is set too under-done. The biggest drawback is little room to eat. Entire families were in the lobby balancing their food on their knees. Mix that with lots of kids -- climbing over the tables for seconds -- well, you get the picture. Note: No Air Conditioning! (not an issue usually; and our room had a fan). Summers can have fairly warm weather on some days. Location is NOT unique, as there are MANY hotels in the area. "Tight" parking garage (multi-level) is underneath; but fills quickly. We had a pleasant view of trees in the back. (There was some delivery truck and garbage truck noise; as well as traffic noise from a street behind.)
I had an excellent time, the hotel was nice clean and neatly arranged furniture. The room was beautiful and had pretty colors the blankets matched the color of the wall and the carpet. the bathroom was clean and well full of supplies needed for use of my family and I. There was a coffee maker with complimentary coffee, that is always a treat for me.
This Best Western was the perfect place for me and my family while I was at nearby meetings and my family enjoyed Monterey. It was a really good value. The oversized room was great, and the breakfast was just what we needed.
My keys just wouldn't let me in my room they kept deactivating and hotel services kept telling me it was your cell phone when I didn't even carry one and several times after they reprogram them they still didn't work!! Frustrating!!!!
Had a great stay. Staff very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend this location. Easy access to the Warf and Cannery row. The room was excellent. Very clean and quit. I really enjoyed this place and will be coming back.
We had a fishing trip for the day after Thanksgiving and chose this hotel becaue it was close to the Wharf in Monterey. Very nice property, with large rooms. No ocean viw, but very convenient to everything.
After staying at the BW black oak plus in Paso Robles, I feel this one is just OK. Don't get me wrong. It has everything that it should have. Jose and Meg at the front desk carry a smile and are very friendly and helpful. Pro: ample parking spaces underground. Hot breakfast (get there early to avoid crowd) Clean room Convenient location (walking distance to restaurant and Trader Joe's) Con: I could hear every step from the floor above me. It could be annoying for some ppl but I'm used to the noises from my kids. Not quite enough amenities (for ex, the other BW+ I stayed at offered hot water and coffee 24/7 in the lobby. In the morning, they also have a grab and go area filled with granola bars and water bottles. They also have complimentary water bottles in the room but not here. Hot water is always plus) As the other reviews indicated, no AC here. Only ceiling fan and heat. Not a problem when it's freezing outside. Bottom line, it's good and convenient for my family w kids for the price paid. I would still recommend them.
Although not a short walking distance to the wharf and Cannery Row, the location was ideal for us. It only took a few minutes to drive to the wharf and park the car. Parking is not free in that area. I actually found meter parking a better bargain a few blocks up. The room was clean and average; nothing spectacular. The walls are not soundproof, we could hear the people next door (on both sides) in the evening. The breakfast was the usual fare found at most Best Western hotels. The eating area, though, was a bit small and cramped. The staff was very friendly. The hotel was also a good location if you want to take a trip to Carmel which we did.
Very friendly helpful staff during our stay, The buffet hot breakfast was very good with more choices than we expected. The room was very clean, the bed was very comfortable. The hotel is located close to many attractions which is convenient. Compared to other hotels in the area this one was an excellent value. We will definitely stay there again.
Hotel was clean, great appearance, staff pleasant, parking available. Breakfast was great. Location great in relations to sites to see within the city. Greatest asset is the staff who were more that willing to provide information on things to do and help with any needs.
If you want to just park and walk around or use public transportation this hotel is in a great location. Our room was spacious, clean and had a small balcony. Hotel has a good breakfast with the only drawback being the small breakfast room, at least during our stay it was crowded. The staff provided us with a map and walking directions for getting downtown and to the wharf. Overall happy with our stay would come back and stay here again.
When we come to Monterey with our son, this is where we usually stay. We have always had a pleasant experience, perhaps because we never stayed on the first floor. If you stay here i would suggest you try to stay on any other floor or at least not one facing the entrance. We were kept up all night with the noise of people coming and going. Other than that, the stay was pleasant as usual.
We stayed in this hotel a month ago. Arrived tierd after 15-hours flight to SF and direct drive to Monterey. Front desk stuff was very welcomed and made the efforts to provide us a room even before formal check-in time. Very nice and warm guest acceptance! It's nice, clean hotel with plenty parking space. Close to the Fisherman's Warf (actually walking distance) and it's very short drive to the main street. We've got a family suite with small balcony, free internet. It was very enjoyable stay (start of 3-weeks family vacation)!
The location is not waterfront, but the downtown and Old Fisherman's Wharf were very easily accessible by foot. There's free parking underneath the hotel too! I was surprised by how large the room was. We had a little sitting area in addition to the bed. There was also a minifridge available. There was even a little balcony overlooking the driveway entrance into the hotel. The only bummer was that they were only able to extend our check out to noon because the hotel was full for the next night.
My parents, husband and I stayed here last week and it is a great hotel in every way. Less than 5 mins from the Main Street for bars, shops & restaurants and only 10 mins walk to the harbour to see the Sea lions & try some fabulous seafood chowder. Staff were lovely and friendly providing maps and local info. Our 2 rooms were really spacious, clean & had balcony's to sit on in the evening to watch the world go by while having a night cap. Free & ample parking along with breakfast of fresh waffles so another major plus for us. We had a lot of baggage as on a 3 week vacation so delighted to find trolleys at the door to use for transporting our luggage to our rooms. Everything was made easy and simple. Stress free. Thank you Best Western Monterey
This is a very nice and clean hotel that is reasonable close to most attractions. The room was clean and comfortable, and the free breakfast was very good. There is no A/C, so if it is hot outside be forewarned. While we were there for two nights and three days the temperature never exceeded 65, so there was no problem. I would stay here again.
This BW Plus hotel is a couple of blocks from downtown Monterey so the location is good. Rooms are spacious and luxurious, and quiet as well. We thought the traffic on the street would be a problem noise-wise but with the sliding balcony door shut, there was no problem at all. Beds were super. Highly recommended.
We stayed at this hotel October 7-11, 2016. Our room was very large, located on the first floor at the end of the hallway. I would recommend asking for a second floor room, as we could hear the guests above us walking around starting at 6AM every day we were there. The room was very clean and had everything we needed. We had our own car so it was very nice to have an on site parking garage with no extra charge. The breakfast was continental, and the breakfast room was small but no real complaints there. It was convenient for us to downtown Monterrey walking, but would be quite a walk to Cannery Row and Fisherman's Wharf. We had a car so it was very convenient. If you drive to Cannery Row or Fisherman's Wharf, it is very hard to find parking and the costs can add up. Parking is only free downtown Monterrey. We were a 10 minute drive to the airport which was very easy to get in and out of. The area seemed very safe, and the rates were reasonable compared to other hotels in the area. I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Monterrey and not wanting to pay the high rates in the Cannery Row area.
We didn't have a reservation for that night. We were pleasantly surprised. It was a great find. It was an excellent price. The area was convenient. If we again choose to stay in Monterey, we would choose this hotel.
We stayed for to nights with two kids age of 9. We had the two queen bed room. The room was large and clean. Bathroom was relatively small with bath and shower. Room were very clean and organized. Breakfast - cereal, bread, egg...classical. big and easy parking lot
I visited with my wife for three nights. The king bedroom was large, clean, and comfortable with a TV, desk, a seating area, and very adequate drawer space. The bathroom has a shower only. The staff was quite helpful always, with directions, discounted aquarium tickets, cleaning room at a certain time, etc. The hotel price was decent in comparison to other quotes we received. I booked through Booking.com, but would not do so again as that company has a cancellation policy of 3 days rather than one day. Also, the hotel can be noisy as we heard the people above us, the tv next door through the wall, and guests in the hall. Breakfast was included with waffles, eggs and sausage, packaged cereals, pastries, yogurts, some fruit, coffee, and juice. I would say it is a pretty high carb fare and I would have liked to see more fresh fruit and granola. The sweetened granola they provided was only for a topping, although the woman server was willing to take the container and fill a bowl for me every morning. Some good healthy granola and a bit more fruit for visitors would be welcome. All in all, there is little to complain about, as the hotel is reasonably priced, far enough away from the main drag to be quieter, and the staff is friendly and efficient.
Stayed here for 3 nights in Sept 2016. The location is within walking distance of a lot of dining options and the sea front. The room we had was pretty large and comfortable. The breakfast was adequate. Overall a very pleasant stay.
We loved everything about this hotel except for the high speed (?) internet and TV reception. Great staff, great breakfast, great cookies. In all fairness, the desk did tell us they had been dealing with their provider.
We stayed here for three nights. We arrived very early in the afternoon and were able to check in. The staff member at the desk was very friendly and helpful with recommendations. The room was very large but a bit dated. That's okay as it was clean. The room did not have air conditioning and was hot at night. We did open the slider and the ceiling fan was on. The bed was a little firm for my liking. The breakfast room was very small and often crowded. The breakfast was your standard fare but lukewarm as someone else said. The location is great. You can walk to Fisherman's Wharf but it is approximately 20 minutes away and Cannery Row at least 30-40 minutes away but we found lots of open spaces close to that area. There is a laundromat very close by if you need to get some laundry done. Overall for the price we paid, it was a good hotel base for the days we were there. You can buy a two day aquarium ticket here for $39 instead of the $49 they charge at the aquarium so good deal. Free covered parking included.
Decor was very nice and so was the staff; price was about right for the quality of the room and other amenities, but the BW gift card helped too; hot/cold breakfast items were better than other hotels; location was convenient for downtown attractions, but too far away from aquarium unless you enjoy long walks; overall a nice place to stay
The hotel staff was very pleasant and well helpful. Our room was a little dated but very nice and clean. Our only complaint would be that the continental breakfast had limited items available, and was not hot enough.
Amazingly pleasant and helpful staff, all shifts. Room and bathroom were spotless, good quality television set. Could hear persons talking in room next door, not loud so as to understand what was being said but noticeable. The bed was comfortable, not super comfortable but was acceptable. I think that powdered eggs are use for the breakfast scrambled eggs, seriously tasteless, the rest of the items served were basic and satisfactory. Location was perfect, easy walking distance to numerous restaurants and Fisherman's Wharf. Room didn't face the main street was on the 3rd floor and at the end of the passage away from the elevators and drink/ice machines, provided a quiet refuge with a sliding door that could be opened for fresh air. Would definitely stay there again.
We stayed at this hotel in order to use points through Best Western. The location is good and within a 2 mile walk of Cannery Row. The room itself was very dated and had a very musty smell. The mattresses were very thin and clearly very old. This hotel is in need of some major updates. The walls are thin and the hotel is noisy.
Spent Labor Day weekend there with wife and two teenaged boys. Most Monterey hotels are overpriced and this one is no exception but Room (207) was clean and surprisingly large. Location made for a nice HQ. We had the mall three minute drive away for movies, and both downtown and Cannery Row are walking distance (15-20 minutes based on pace). Saved a bunch on parking, too. Breakfast room cramped and bed was not great, but we'd stay here again.
Fantastic staff, especially Jose. Spotless and convenient. I'm handicapped with a service dog and they couldn't have been more gracious. They don't allow pets, however, so honor their policy. Nice parking garage and a small pool and spa.
Stayed 3 nights for a mini-family vacation. Very nice hotel, with an excellent location. A couple of minutes away from the Downtown area and Cannery Row. All the good restaurants and entertainment are in those areas. Also close by to rent bikes for a ride along the beach.
We stayed here in August and found a very well run hotel. The room was clean, spacious and quiet. The breakfast was great and the staff were very helpful. We walked into Monterey and down to Fishermans wharf . Lots to do around the area and it was lovely watching the sea lions etc in the bay.
We arrived at the hotel on 28th April 2016 and stayed for one night. On arrival we were greeted by a friendly and helpful receptionist. We had a lovely first floor room which was clean, spacious and comfortable. A reasonable price per night with excellent breakfast included. Would we stay there again? definitely! A good location for Fisherman's Wharf and don't forget to visit the Aquarium, it is out of this world!
This property is perfectly situated for visits to BIg Sur, Pebble Beach, Seven Mile Drive and Monterrey. In addition the staff personnel were very hospitable. The included breakfast each morning was right on time.
We booked here because the reviews were good and the price was over half compared to Cannery Row (which was where we were trying to book). We've never stayed at a Best Western before and usually never stay at anything below a 3 star rating, so we were a little skeptical at first. There's no air conditioning, which scared me at first, but we went in August and the room wasn't too hot to begin with. We had a slider that let air in and they had an extra fan to help with the temperature. We have two members in our family that overheat easily and no issues without the A/C. This hotel is not far from the free Trolley stations. There's one by Peet's Coffee at the transit center and one closer to the Wharf by the parking garage. We didn't pay for parking the whole week and it was great. We went with an 8 year old, a 7 year old, and a 8 month old in a carrier. We walked without a stroller. And did I mention we got by without paying for parking? The breakfast was good. Eggs, Sausage, Muffins, Oatmeal, Cereal, a Waffle station, and some bread and fruit. It was good enough to feed us for most of the mornings (which again saves our family a minimum of $25 each morning). The pool and hot tub were great. The pool is only 5 1/2 feet which was great for our kids. The hot tub is really close to the pool, so we could watch our swimmers from the hot tub. The front desk always helped us out when asked and we never had any issues. Housekeeping was great and we never had a problem. Overall, if you are a family (or anyone) looking to get away, but on a budget, this is the place. There's enough close by to drive to, if you wanted, or quite a bit to walk to. I would recommend this to anyone looking in this area. The free trolley was wonderful. The hotel also has free parking (most of the other hotels were $10-$27 a day). I was pleasantly surprised and will add Best Westerns to my search list when going on our next vacation! By the way, there's an excellent Paris Bakery in between this hotel and the Wharf, which I wished we would have stopped at sooner! But I'll leave that for their review.
Our last minute one night stay was for a family of 4. The rooms need updating, but they are clean and large. We were on the first floor, and were woken up at 6am by the garbage collectors outside. Breakfast was included, but the food choices are not good - so I skipped breakfast. For a rate of $279/night, I would have expected more. Not great, but not awful either.
Took a road trip down Pacifica Highway with pre-arranged hotels. It was hard finding a hotel in July. This Best Western is not close to the water, but it is clean and safe. Staff was friendly. Buy the aquarium tickets there and save $10 per person!
We had only planned to stay at this hotel for 2 nights. We found ourselves in Big Sur in the middle of the fire and decided to shorten our stay there. While this hotel was able to add a night to our stay at the last minute, we had to switch rooms after the first night. Our 2nd room was on the first floor just doors away from the noisy street and lobby. The hotel would not accommodate our request to move to a quieter room. Breakfast was average - the standard cereal/muffin choices and poor quality eggs and sausage. The breakfast room is far too small to service such a large number of guests. The hotel only staffed one person to restock items during breakfast, and she was constantly scurrying from station to station. Every morning of our stay I had to wait for creamer, milk, bananas, and other items to be restocked. Overall, this hotel suited our need to be close to downtown, but I wish we would have stayed elsewhere.
Hotel is out of main city centre but easy to walk to the beach/pier - 10 minutes. Hotel room was excellent size for family of 4. Expensive , like all hotels in Monterey at this time. Breakfast is average, but OK We used the pool and Jacuzzi - very warm / hot , small but good.
Our quick stay was mostly ok for a family of 4. The rooms are clean but on the old side. Our room was close to the Libby so it was very noisy until about midnight. Get a room on other floors if possible. We asked for a corkscrew and they said they only had one for the entire hotel... not very impressive. The breakfast is very, very unsatisfying. The breakfast room is very small and food choices are poor and unhealthy. I mean were in fruit paradise, can we get over the orange and apple thing please. It's 2016 and I felt like this was a 1961 breakfast. Frankly, I have to say, it was not horrible but I will definitely try another place if I come back.
The staff were great, the room was very large, clean and provided a nice breakfast assortment. We did not have reservations and had to drive around looking for what was available, after seeing several other hotels, this one was the nicest and cleanest around. They provided the room needed with two queen beds.
Comfortable, clean room, pleasant staff. Street noise a problem but location was close to attractions. Transit station close by but attractions and excellent restaurants within 10 minute drive.Full breakfast was a plus. Needed a light bulb changed and it was done within 10 minutes of notifying staff. Excellent service.
Room 311 was amazing. Quiet, immaculate, beautiful...just begin to describe our two night stay in mid-July. Check-in was quick and efficient. Underground parking (two levels) is excellent. Elevator access to all floors of the hotel. Breakfast was wonderfu; the attendants were "spot on." Eggs, sausage, waffles, fruit....coffee, juice were all bountiful. When leaving our room--I mentioned to a member of housekeeping that we were leaving our room (so, she knew it was ready to clean). I had a short conversation with her--she proudly proclaimed she had worked at this hotel for 25 years. What a wonderful tribute to the type of hotel Best Western Plus Monterey Inn is...thank you for a wonderful stay.
We stayed here for a family trip at the end of June before heading to Yosemite. The Inn was clean, priced well for the area. It isn't near the bay or water but close enough for a 10 minute walk into downtown for some good restaurants. There is a Trader Joe's within a 5 min walk. Most importantly the staff was fantastic. They were helpful and honest about the area. They didn't steer us towards over priced, touristy area when we asked for something off the beaten path. We had one problem with a family above us that were re-enacting American Ninja Warrior in their room at 1030 pm. One call to the front desk and it was stopped, in less than 3 minutes!! Bravo!! Pool and pool area was small but clean and they even had a nice little hot tub. We got some finger food and wine from Trader Joe's and had a relaxing meal by the pool! I would definitely stay here again if we went back to Monterey, but wasn't thrilled with Monterey on the whole.
We appreciated the help the front desk clerk gave us when we asked how to get to the aquarium and a couple of other places. When she found out we were walking she was kind enough to suggest additional places to go. While it was clean, the hotel felt 'dated' - the pillows were a bit on the too full/firm side - some air conditioning would have been nice, but in general it was fine. On another trip we would probably try to stay closer to the water.
We got a double King suite and it was just 2 rooms with the door inbetween taken out. We would have been better off getting 2 rooms since we would have at least had to bathrooms instead of the overly small one we got. The TVs were placed at an angle and distance that made viewing difficult.
Looking for a great, comfortable, clean and hospitable place to spend a night or two??? This it the place to do it. It's location, pricing, friendly staff, and cleanliness were fantastic. The continental breakfast was great and also a good way to rebound from overspending on my shopping trip lol!!!~ The BED is AMAZING!
Very Close to Fisherman's Wharf, Good location. Very clean and staff was extremely friendly. Have stayed here several times and always good service. Loved having the patio that you do out on and get fresh air.
Arrived in Monterey looked at a couple of motels & hotels, this was certainly the best deal. Great room, location was great we walked into downtown area. Pool area was nice, clean & quiet. Good breakfast choice, check in & out was excellent great people on front desk. We also walked from hotel in opposite direction t town, to Del Monte shopping centre, great live music, it was a Friday night, Santana tribute.
We have stayed at this hotel many times on our trips to the Monterey Bay area, and have never been disappointed. It is very conveniently located near Fisherman's Wharf and other attractions. The rooms are spotlessly clean and comfortable, and the staff is friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend it.
I had previously stayed at another Best Western in San Diego and really enjoyed it, so I decided to book again while staying in Monterey Bay and found it affordable and comfortable. I am so glad I did, again I was pleased with the great service, friendly staff and close proximity to all the attractions I planned to visit. This time around I took advantage of the continental breakfast both Sat & Sun mornings. It was a great way to save money and enjoy a delicious light but filling meal. There was sausage, eggs, oatmeal, cold cereal, waffles, fruit, bagels, toast, donuts a variety of coffee and juice and the next morning instead of sausage there was bacon. At night after we came in from sightseeing we grabbed some nice hot tea and coffee that was always available in the lobby and took up to our room to relax and enjoy. We purchased our aquarium tickets here and that saved us from the long line there, so glad I did! Bed was so soft and comfy I sleep great, and I really enjoyed our spacious room on the 2nd floor. I will stay here again next time we come to town.
Very nice hotel in a very nice destination for a quick overnite stay with the grandkids in a bike friendly area with lots to see and plenty of good restaurants and attractions for either kids of any age or couples getting away for a short break.
We have been using this motel for over 15 years for visits to Monterey. It is a good value and amenities have been improved through the years. This year they finally changed the thermostat control to a more modern type that can be set to a temperature. The underground parking is a real plus during winter rains. Also location is near the center of activities.
Stayed here for two nights on a California coastal road trip. This hotel is in a great location and very quiet. Room was large and clean. Bed was a little hard but I'm a wimp. We would definitely stay here again. We did not try the breakfast so cannot comment on that. This hotel is close to downtown and the wharf. Also easy access to the 1 and a shopping mall if you forgot things like we did.
Reasonable priced hotel 2 blks. from downtown! Very clean! Recommend 3rd floor back! No air conditioning but fans! Sm. brk. room with limited brk! No express checkout! Good secure parking underneath! Lots of eating places across street! Large rooms!
Check in was easy and fast. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was clean and comfortable. Loved having a balcony! Check out was fast! The front desk was very helpful in recommending places to go to see and eat. Needed to find a department store to buy a bathing suit and was directed to Target and Walmart.
We stopped for two nights as part of our West Coast Ocean road trip and this hotel was at a convenient stopping off point in Monterey and at the cheaper end of the scale. We found it to be better than an average score of three but because of its location on the main road and a little further out than other hotels, probably not quite a score of four. However, the room was nice, all the staff very helpful and friendly and the small pool a nice extra (although it was full of kids when I tried to use it!) The continental breakfast was just ok, but the room it was served in was small and dingy. If we returned to Monterey we would have no hesitation in staying there again.
We stayed here for 3 nights to explore the Monterey area. I see this hotel gets pretty good ratings from other travellers but not me I'm afraid. But, to be fair, first the good stuff. Free covered parking. Good size room with all the amenities one would expect. Included breakfast with usual BW fare. BUT beware when the hotel is full as it was for a reggae festival and Memorial Day weekend when we happened to be there. The walls are not well insulated so you may have the pleasure, as I did, of listening to your neighbours talking till 2.30am plus, as we were above the Lobby, people checking in late and slamming car doors and talking loudly. Also the room doors bang hard making your whole room shake. Guests did not seem bothered about closing doors quietly between midnight and 7 am. Likewise the hallways are very echoey and guests talk loudly in the corridors and their children try out their voices to hear the echoes. This hotel really needs to a) change its door locks to soft close and b) introduce a guest courtesy policy requesting guests to close doors quietly and keep voices down in the hallways between 10pm and 7am. Also when the hotel is full you may find it difficult to find somewhere to sit in the small breakfast room. To be fair to the hotel, when I complained about the noise on the first night they did move us to a quieter room but it didn't make a big difference. We weren't told about the pool until I asked about it at checkout. I chose this hotel based on price and location as everything in Monterey is expensive but I wish I had looked more widely at hotels which may not be on the main booking sites as there seemed to be plenty of alternatives.
The room and amenities were great and surpassed my expectations. The building is slightly dated but nothing of concern and they have done a good job renovating it. I loved everyone at the front desk they were all so polite and helpful. All this greatness for a great price you can't beat it. I know I'll be staying here again
Excellent hotel and amenities. So close to everything in Monterey and very helpful staff. Check-in was very easy and rooms were clean and spacious. Breakfast was excellent. Very good value for money and would recommend.
Our room was nicely decorated and very clean!!! We had a partial ocean view, a REAL orchid, and a gas-burning fireplace. I consider the room an outstanding value, especially considering this is Monterey, CA. In addition, the location of the hotel was almost dead-center in Monterey and only a short drive to Fisherman's Wharf, the Aquarium, and a huge selection/variety of restaurants.
The guest room is good. ( We reserved King bed room for two ). It's not luxury , yet practical. Breakfast included with minimum acceptable .... However , the location is good even it is not that close by the bay. It only 5 mins to downtown central shopping street and 15 mins to Fisherman Wharf . So it's very easy to find good dining restaurant no matter downtown or by the bay.
Location: good, it's about a 10 min walk to the main street with restaurants etc but recommend driving, as well as to the coast line. A bit dodgy walking around the street at night. Safety: good, see above comment. Comfort: excellent. A very very big room and very quiet, overlooking a quiet area of the neighbourhood, and you couldn't hear any neighbours either. Facilities: excellent. A very comprehensive breakfast is included with in the room. There's a very small pool, nothing to write about, and is always full of kids. Plenty of car space available. Hospitality: very good.
We booked a King sized bed and for some reason got given a room with wheelchair access which we certainly did not request. But the room and bed were large and comfortable and the bathroom super large. Everything we needed. Only criticism on the room was the paper thin walls such that we could hear people in rooms around us. Breakfast room was small but we had no problems getting a seat and the breakfast provided was good , if pretty standard fare. The walk into the town centre was not insignificant but we enjoy a walk before and after meals so it suited us.
This was the best of the Best Westerns I have ever stayed at of about 12-15 different Best Westerns. It is located within walking distance of Cannery Row & the Monterey Bay Aquarium and many restaurants. Rooms were clean and had plenty of underground parking. The staff was very helpful on directing us to local events.
We stopped here for two days - a breather day while heading Northern California - it was relaxing, clean and centrally located. It was reasonably priced. I highly recommend this hotel for any travellers.
This Inn is VERY nice. Everyone we came into contact with was friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and updated. The breakfast was really good and there were many options to chose from. It was also nice that when walking in from the cold there was coffee options available right inside the lobby door. We walked everywhere we went which saved us from having to find and pay for parking elsewhere. There are lots of eating places close by. The teens that were with us loved that they could walk to the beach and then come back to use the pool and hot tub. Everyone in our "group" enjoyed their stay here.
We were initially booked at another inn that turned out not to be so child friendly, so we quickly had to find another place to stay with a suite. This hotel was perfect, there were two rooms, both had king beds. There were sliding glass doors in each room (one just to a faux balcony), but the other one had a deck with a table and chairs outside. Overall the room was great for our family and very close to Fisherman's Wharf. Breakfast was your typical BW fare (waffles, eggs, sausage, cereal and yogurt). Also, if you stay here you can buy 2 day tickets to the Aquarium for the price of one day. It's not always easy to find a decent 2 bedroom suite, so we would definitely stay here again!
I'm usually traveling with my two sons, ages 10 and 7, so my review is slanted towards an experience with kids. We booked a room with two queen beds and the size was nice. Definitely not too cramped like a lot of rooms with two queens. It was nice that the sink area was outside of the bathroom, much more convenient for getting ready. Our room was very close to the elevator but noise was minimal. Breakfast was fine, nothing fancy but the kids got a good meal out of it. Cereals, waffles, scrambled eggs, bacon/sausages and pastries, with juices and coffee and tea. I think the best thing for the kids was the pool. We traveled mid April, the days were overcast and temps were around 62, but the pool was heated really well. It was like a warm bath so no problems with swimming. The hot tub was nice too, very hot! I read some reviews that said parking was a tight squeeze, but I found it fine, I have an average-sized car and it wasn't difficult at all. Overall, with the location (less than 5 mins drive to Cannery Row) amenities and super warm swimming pool, I would recommend this hotel to families visiting Monterey.
The general manager, Diane, helped me book a group reservation for nine rooms to be used during our bicycle trip from San Francisco to Santa Barbara. Everything went exactly as planned. The rooms were ready when we rolled in, the staff was pleasant and accommodating, and the hotel was fresh and clean.
Had an awesome stay for our Anniversary. But at 4:30 in the am the fire alarm went off. Never experiencing this before was confused. Anyway it was a false alarm and all was good after being outside with everyone including the fireman. It was an eventful stay. Hotel is beautiful and they gave me what I asked for and even said Happy Anniversary when we checked in! Good place and close to town.
Hotel was great. A nice location, convenient to get to various local destinations by car. Great staff, in particular, the breakfast staff were attentive and efficient. I would recommend for the future.
I was very satisfied with all aspects of our room. The room was very clean and well maintained. The bed was very comfortable. Everything, including the fireplace, worked. Parking was free and very easy. I will return to this hotel the next time I go to Monterey.
As stated on numerous other reviews the hotel has paper thin walls, making it difficult to get a good night sleep and the beds were extremely uncomfortable. The hotel was clean and the service was good and the complimentary breakfast was good. If none of the other hotels are available I would stay there again, but for almost 200 a night you would expect a better bed and some better insulated walls to lessen the sound of the other guest in the hotel.
Please stop with the damn surveys! I liked staying at your hotel just fine. If I had any issues I would have let you know. Since my stay one week ago I've been bombarded with multiple emails from you. Please stop this! I stayed at your hotel, everything was good, then I left. That should be the end of our relationship. Now go away.
We will be staying at this place when we return to visit in the future. Lovely room, very clean, comfortable bed and pillows! Breakfast was satisfying and hot, great coffee. There is a Chinese restaurant (Great Wall Chinese Restaurant), which within walking distance, and the food was nothing short of delicious! There was also a Mexican restaurant (El Palomar), Denny's and Jack-in-the-Box, within walking distance, if that is what you prefer. This hotel was perfect for us since they offered a two-day pass to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did!
We spent a night here. Room was okay ... nothing special. We woke up early the next morning to the power being out. That made things a bit difficult. We made our way out of the hotel using our Iphone's flashlight feature. That made for an interesting stay. Other than the power outage we had no real complaints.
The kids and I really enjoyed our 4 night stay at the hotel. Great walking to downtown restaurants, market, museum, etc. So glad we booked the king suite. Rooms were spacious and clean. Lots of electrical outlets for our devices. Balcony on top floor king suite was an added unexpected bonus. Room at back of hotel was quiet for sleeping. Internet/wireless was fantastic the entire time and easy to sign on to. Staff was friendly, kind, helpful. Only "negative" thing I could say is this: At first we were disappointed that there was no microwave in the room but professional and helpful staff let us know right away that we could come use the microwave in the breakfast area for our nightly popcorn needs. It was a fun little nightly activity for the kids. My only wish would be that there was ability to order movies in the room. Great hotel.
I was impressed with this hotel. It's good value, our room was very spacious, breakfast was included, although as other people have commented it needed a new toaster! I think for most people this will tick all the boxes. The staff on reception were helpful, car park is convenient, I would go back.
Our stay with this hotel was just fabulous, staff was very courteous and informative easy check in and check out and the rooms were clean and spacious for a family of 4 adults and 1 child. Breakfast was very good as well. Maybe they can improve on their internet connection, it was a ittle bit slow.
We last stayed here in the summer of 2014 and returned for 2 nights in Feb. 2016. Again, found staff to be very pleasant and helpful; room was large and tastefully furnished with a comfortable bed. Room and bathroom spotless and it was quiet. Adequate parking under the building; breakfast ok. Would stay again.
The Best Western Plus, Monterey had a large, comfortable room, free underground parking and was reasonably priced. But we were underwhelmed by the breakfast. We've stayed at a dozen Best Westerns over the past year, some “regular” and some “Pluses.” The breakfast was here average, like a “regular” Best Western, it did not have the little extras we've seen at other Best Western Plus properties.
The rooms were large and the beds comfortable. The hotel is located within a 15-20 minute walk of the Wharf and an easy drive to Cannery Row but in a relatively quiet part of downtown. The breakfast room is quite small but the offered a nice variety of hot and cold selections.
Excellent price and very comfortable stay. The front desk is very accommodating. The staff are very friendly and courteous. The decor is very pleasing. The front yard and garden is eco friendly. The bed was very comfortable. The room was very clean with comfortable temperature setting.
We were very happy with this walk in accommodation. The rooms are a good size and comfortable. The people at the front counter have a lovely demeanor and are very helpful regarding advice and directions.
Clean, convenient location with a generous continetal breakfast buffet. Our room was spacious with sliding door to small outside patio. There were no seating available, but we enjoyed open up the door for the fresh air. Motel provided a bar to secure the slider at night, but it would have been nice to have a bar that was a tad bit shorter so we could safely keep the slider open a few inches for fresh air at night. (We were on a ground floor room).
excellent service, great decor, easy downtown access. for those coming to monterey for any reason, this is an excellent way to spend your time, shopping within walking distance,, wharf down the street, short ride to cannery row
We booked this hotel as a place to stay for a couple of nights while going to the Pebble Beach ProAm. The hotel was easy to get to and the rooms were comfortable and clean. There is nothing fancy but that didn't really matter to us during this stay. This is only a few blocks from downtown so it would be a relative easy walk to that area.
With a trip planned to the Monterey Aquarium We stayed here for the night after a previous recommendation. The room was bit musty smelling but ultimately was clean. The hotel has a great little restaurant with an awesome ocean view and so does the lobby area. Great beach to take a morning stroll before heading out for the day.
We love staying here for weekend a weekend getaway every so often. We've had the same room both times and we love it. Always very clean. Room with a fire place is a must. It's usually pretty quiet. Breakfast is free and has some good options. Will return.
Stayed with my mother for three nights. The first night we found it rather difficult to sleep as every step and word could easily heard from our neighbours' room... Walls and floor very thin. Breakfast is served in a conference room. Small and crowded with limited choice of food. However fresh waffles were appreciated. Free parking in underground garage also appreciated. Staff was avarege: sometimes receptionist didn't greet us, seemed uninterested... At good walking distance from city center.
As a Platinum Members of Best Western Rewards, we stay at many Best Western Hotels, this one is in the top layer. We normally stay in another Best Western Hotel in Monterey, this one is better. A major complaint of "free breakfasts" is the poor selection and quality, this one is one of the best. It is located close to the major attractions, parking is very secure, in an underground area, with lift to the hotel. Recommended.
Now known as Unscripted, we drove past to a dead end and then realised! Lovely hotel, great staff. Breakfast on the top floor was good value although others obviously didn't agree as it was quiet. Sea views outstanding with dolphins swimming in the bay.
Hotel was centrally located between the sites of Monterey and then the local shopping mall. Easy access to the freeways. Hotel was clean, nicely decorated and the staff very accommodating. Would definitely stay there again when I go back to Monterey.
We stopped here on our road trip down the California coast. The room was large with a fireplace. The bed was very comfortable and we slept well. The staff made our stay even better by giving us a map and making recommendations for restaurants. We would definitely stay here again if we're in the area.
I just spent 4 nights at this property and was completely satisfied. Our room was spacious and well decorated in addition to being comfortable. The breakfast was crowded but had plenty to choose from. The location was ideal. Most nights we were able to walk to find a restaurant for dinner, and Fisherman's Wharf is also within walking distance. I would definitely stay here again.
We have stayed at this Best Western for years when we are in the area, It is a great deal and the service, rooms. staff, and breakfast are always top rate. We always chose this option and in fact we have brought couples golf groups to this hotel and everyone has been very, very pleased, and returned on their own. A REAL Winner!
The staff were extremely helpful, courteous, and quick. Check-In was a breeze and I thought there may be some delay due to using a Best Western Gift Card for part of the payment. The room was extremely clean and I had a view of the ocean- can't beat that! Walking distance to Alvarado street and plenty of places to eat. We will definitely stay here again.
This hotel is really nice, staff was fantastic the room was big. There is ample parking in a parking garage which makes things safer also The free breakfast was tasty and plentiful The only downside was soundproofing between rooms the room next-door had their TV on all night, which we heard all night
This hotel is clean with spacious, beautifully decorated rooms. Staff is not overly friendly and the maid service starts too early in the morning by chatting loudly and banging their equipment around.
Clean and a good value. King room was spacious. Breakfast was simple but decent quality; the best you could expect for this price range. A short walk to restaurants and ocean. Price was probably low due to time of year, not sure what this goes for in heavier seasons.
After staying a few nights at Cannery Row we decided we wanted an extra nights stay in Monterey so I went with my tried and true hotel chain, and booked a night at the Monterey Inn. We have stayed here in the past and it is always a pleasant stay, this time was no different. We checked in enjoyed the walk to Fisherman's Wharf and had a nice relaxing evening. The room was quiet and comfortable and very enjoyable.
I have stay at many Best Westerns and I'm always on the lookout for new places to visit. I've stayed at the other BW in the area but haven't been to this one. I'm glad I was able to get the chance as it was worth the drive. Most of my travel is for business so my review will be different than if I was traveling with family. I was able to book the corner room with a larger area, king size bed, and fireplace. As this was January the fireplace was nice and I can't wait to come back with the wife, she'll love that touch. The rooms are well kept and clean. The wall was a little thin or the neighbors were just loud, could have been both. Breakfast items were good and plenty to choose from, wasn't just the smaller breakfast that you get at some of the BWs. Parking is on the backside and under the hotel, you just need to be careful when pulling in, a little tight on the spacing. Staff are very accommodating and helping. I will be back to this one for sure come summer time. Thanks for a good nights sleep.
good value and friendly staff. Clean and quiet room- spacious. Bathtub/shower a little narrow for comfort - otherwise I highly recommend. Would have liked breakfast served before 7 a.m. as grandkids had 8 a.m. tee time.
Good staff greeting you nicely. Clean room and bathroom The bed is very clean as well but the mattress was a bit too firm for my wife. You also have a mini fridge and a coffee maker. Useful for cold or hot drinks. Breakfast area is small (approx 20 seats) so hard to sit anywhere unless you're willing to wait. Well. There are options within 1 mile around the hotel. Well, it was a good stay for sure. Good price for 3 nights. But we rather prefer the Best Western Victorian Inn even a bit more expensive.
Monterey seems to have two types of hotels. If you want to have a water view, or a short walk to the water.... either very expensive or low quality. I chose to be a little farther from the water and stay in a very nice hotel, for an acceptable price.
The location is good, for the most part the place is clean, the breakfast is odd but enough to get you to an early lunch.... BUT, bring comfortable headphones/earplugs as these walls are made of balsa wood. Throughout the night as the baby cried, the people used the bathroom (figured I would spare you the description) the people walked around and the tvs blasted I thought of an old Phil Collins song: I can hear through these walls I can hear it when they're foolin' around I can hear through these walls and I hear every sign, every sound I can hear through these walls In the dark with the shades pulled down Every word that they say Every move they make feels it's coming my way Read more: Phil Collins - Thru These Walls Lyrics | MetroLyrics .
Be sure to bring earplugs and noise cancelling headphones. This hotel is located in a good place, has a good décor, the staff is very good, but the walls are very thin and cheaply constructed. It's noisy. I could hear my next door neighbors unzip their suitcases, hear their normal talking voice and their tv all night.
When I drove up to the address, I was so very pleased. Great curb appeal as they say. Beautiful setting. Inside the staff were clean and well dressed. Very informative and helpful. The room was wonderful and the beds comfortable. Breakfast consisted of many choices from waffles, eggs, cereal, fruit, coffee, tea and juices. But, more then anything, the place was beautiful! I stayed in Rancho Cordova a while back and I was so disappointed in the attitude of one of the staff, I almost cancelled my reservation. Other staff members made up for this guys actions. Rancho Cordova was just of ugly on the outside and lobby. I'm going to be staying in Sonora Best Western and learned this morning that someone overdosed on Meth and they found a "Tommy Gun", AK47 and large amounts of cash in the room! O my word! Do I really want to stay there?
My second return to Best Western Plus, Monterey CA -- Car stolen in Carmel, pouring rain, took cab to Monterey for shelter and re-grouping -- Staff was sympathetic and helpful. Easily got instant reservation in room I was scheduled to take the following weekend. Planned to stay a week, but needed to get home to prevent house break-in with lost keys -- BWplus was easy to revise reservation, left early with no penalty -- Good help with visiting cops & taxis as I got on my way again -- Intelligent, aware and helpful staff made a huge difference to this depressing experience --
Good quality hotel with lovely lobby & good amenities. Check in gentleman was very polite & friendly. Breakfast included but I'm not a fan of packet oats. Corner King room very spacious. I only stayed the one night but would revisit for longer if in area again.
This was a little R&R getaway to prep us for the upcoming holidays. The good: * This hotel is slightly better than the regular best western as it does offer free parking, free wifi and breakfast. * The rooms are spacious and our room had a fireplace ?? * centrally located & within walking distance to downtown Main Street The bad: * the front desk seemed preoccupied when we checked in * couldn't find our reservations, even when I showed him our confirmation number. finally located our reservation through the third party booking * didn't apologize or seemed apologetic whatsoever * next time we will spend a little extra to stay in a more reputable hotel
Location was good, walking distance to Monterey down town and cannery row if desired. Breakfast was nice- facility was clean, staff was good- All what you would expect from a standard good Best Western.
Sorry to say this Best Western, but you need to spend some money on this building. The staff were great and the location is ideal to walk to downtown and the pier. We were on the second floor and were delighted to be at the back of the building. The room was large and the bed was great. We could hear every step the guest in the room above took. The guy in room next to us had a good sleep but kept us awake with his snoring. Insulation in the walls and ceilings would help. We just could not recommend this hotel based on the noise levels between the rooms.
I stayed for one night with my husband and son. Everything I needed was available. They offer a very nice breakfast, clean room and a short distance to the cannery row. The place felt safe, and my van was left alone in the basement garage. I will definitely go back there again.
Clean, large free breakfast, coffee all day. Located walking distance to everything you could want. Did not get in my car once after I got here. Covered parking. Large rooms and friendly staff. Pool area
We spent 2 nights and really enjoyed our stay overall. The staff was very helpful, the breakfast was good and the location was perfect for us: we like to stay away from the really touristy parts of areas we visit, preferring instead to walk to destinations we want to visit, whenever possible. The only problem was the noise we experienced both nights of our stay: First with the heavy footsteps of the occupants above us, then the next night at 2 a.m. with the occupant next door talking on the phone for about 45 min.: We could hear almost every word he uttered even though he seemed to be talking in a normal and monotonous voice. It was very frustrating! Monterey is such an absolutely lovely and interesting place to visit and the Best Western is very inviting and well located. Don't spoil it--get that building better insulated! Renee
We really enjoyed staying here. The night shift attendant was super friendly and helpful. The kids loved the pool and hot tub. The breakfast was good and loved the waffles! Our room was huge with two separate bedrooms which allowed the 5 of us to spread out.
Very nice visit to Monterey/Pacific Grove/Big Sur area. Hotel was a very convenient location - we will definitely stay there again when on the West Coast. Good value for us as a family of four adults & three children for.
This hotel deserves the top reviews, the rooms are great, the location is great, the ambiance is great and the complimentary afternoon cheese and wine is great. If you want a reasonably priced hotel that punches above its weight stay hear and you won't be disappointed.. It was chilly at night during our stay so we lit the fire in the room, so cosy all we needed was a glass of port and a mince pie
The room was very nice, breakfast was great, but the noise in the room was really really strong and bothered us to sleep all night, all those who passed in the hallway and in the lobby, we could hear them and the floor in the room above us was making creaked noise really, really strong and it's a pity it ruined the whole experience
The staff were all helpful and cheerful. The room was clean and quiet and the location is very good. It was easy to walk to attractions and to get food. The internet service, however, was spotty at best which was frustrating because I wanted to do a few more things late at night before bed. I gave up and tried again in the morning. Still no connection, but I needed to get on my way. The breakfast sounds better than it tastes and the coffee was lukewarm. But the overall experience was fine.
Best Western Monterey Plus is a great choice for your visit to Monterey. It's close to downtown (easily walkable), but in a quiet neighborhood. Very comfortable, spotless rooms; large breakfast, free parking and a very helpful staff will make your business or vacation trip very enjoyable.
Hotel was situated in a wonderful location, which is within walking distance to nearby restaurants such as Denny's and a Chinese restaurant. The breakfast the hotel offered was wonderful as they included scrambled eggs and bacon.
Smart. clean hotel. Excellent room. Nice pool. Ample parking. Unfortunately our stay was curtailed due to major power outage in the region. Hotel staff were very helpful in finding an alternative location.
a very spacious room, fireplace was romantic, just a good overall experience,a great location, walking distance to downtown shops and resturants,a balcony and a great pool, i would defenitley stay here again
Stopped in whilst traveling the coast road into LA from San Fran. Motel was spacious, comfortable beds and free parking. Good location. Close walking distance down to the pier and restaurants close by. Would have loved to stay longer if we had more time.
At night we could hear our neighbor snoring and in the morning we could hear conversations upstairs barely muffled over the sound of the creaking ceiling from their footsteps. Otherwise this hotel was exactly what you'd expect in its segment but I've never been in even a cheap motel with worse soundproofing.
first of vacation travelling down the california coast. pleasant staff, good location not on the water still close to town. room was clean - pool was clean. I like staying at the best western plus for the comforts of home they provide
The hotel kept improving non-stop: every time we come, there is something new, this time, it's the Keurig coffee maker in the lobby for the afternoon! We wish that it'd stay there for the night also. The staff always took great care of us, all our requests were met at the higher level than we expected!
Very close to major attractions in Monterey, Ca. The service disk people were very friendly. when I ask for extra pillows there brought them to my room... the beds were soft and we sleep well that night.
We were looking for a nice hotel that was close to the major attractions and reasonably priced. Unfortunately prices in Monterey are relatively high compared to other major U.S. cities. But it is a prime destination so they can charge more. You might be able to save more by going to motel row further up the road but then you are moving even further away from the city center. As for the hotel, the rooms were relatively large and clean. The lobby was well maintained and they offer free parking. The staff was friendly and happy to answer any questions. They provide a free breakfast that provides most cold items you would want plus you can make waffles or get eggs and bacon as well. The hotel is located at the southern end of the cannery row/wharf area. Too far to walk so a car is recommended to visit places in the peninsula. The cannery/wharf area is not that big with limited street parking so you wind up paying for parking in the garages. The weekend tends to get crowded with cars and tourists so it it better if you park once and walk around rather than driving. We enjoyed our stay at the BW Montery Inn and would recommend it.
I've been visiting this place for the past 10 years. I will continue to come back, nice large/clean rooms, friendly service, and walking distance to downtown Monterey, and Fisherman's Wharf, restaurants, trader joes.
overall rating: good. friendly personnel. one poor feature: breakfast room is far too small. Not enough seating. not enough room to present food items without crowding items. makes for an unpleasant start of the day. would like newspapers to be available.
I was most impressed by the staff. They did everything to make my stay comfortable and made excellent recommendations for restaurants and facilitated getting Aquarium tickets. The room was immaculate, spacious, all equipment was in working order. The room was lovely. I enjoyed my stay immensely.
I travel extensively on business, staying in hotels an average of 1-2 weeks every month. Normally when I work in this area I stay at a different BW property. Thought it would be nice to stay in Monterey proper. Expensive rate, NO Air Conditioning. Had to leave windows open which meant an early wake up due to traffic outside on one of the city's busiest streets. My advice: Find somewhere better to stay.
We have stayed at the Best Western Monterey Inn several times over the years. We have always been completely satisfied. It is close enough to Alvarado Street and Fisherman's Wharf to easily walk, without the congestion of actually staying downtown. As with other Best Western Plus hotels we've visited, the accommodations are very nice. We won't stay anywhere else when we visit Monterey.
