    « Great location »

We enjoyed staying here for one night while we walked around the Historic St. Augustine. This hotel is located across from the Bay and we could sit in the nice seating area located above the entrance and watch the boats go by and pass under the Bridge of Lions when the drawbridge opened. Our room was clean and breakfast is located at the restaurant next door which accepts the voucher you receive upon check in. Staff was helpful and friendly.

« Clean, Courteous and Friendly »

Staff was very efficient at check in and check out. Room was very clean. Pleasant stay in a facility that was near everything. Would recommend without hesitation. The young man who handles parking is a genius.

« Great hotel at a great price »

Love this hotel. It is right across from the fort and is in the heart of walking distance to everything. Great staff and most importantly safe. Parking is great here as your cars are taken very good care by the attendant!

    « Quick Vacation »

We have never been to St Augustine before but knew we wanted to stay within walking distance to town. Could not have had a better view and close to restaurants and shopping. Many coffee places to choose from each morning

    « Weekend getaway »

What a great stay. Location was perfect, close to everything and the trolley picked you up right out front. The hotel was very nice and clean and loved the coffee machine at the front desk. Rooms looked like they have just been redone, very clean, and comfortable with everything you need, micro, fridge, soap, towels etc. The best part was the staff, always smiling and helpful, especially Julia, she was working during the day so I dealt with her the most, she was very helpful, happy and had great advice on where to go and what to see and eat (pizza suggestion, thank you) and always had a big smile on her. She is a real asset to the Best Western Company. Thanks again, will definitely stay there again. H.H

« Front Desk Hot Mess »

We were charged a pet cleaning fee for a room with NO mats or carpet, no green space for dogs and barely any mulch. We were granted parking on sight then had it revoked hours later to be directed to public parking where we were TOLD it was safe (had our cars packed to the gills) and FREE. It was neither... and we got a $25 ticket. They said FREE breakfast... but was told that wasn't true when we checked in and the girl reluctantly handed us a voucher for a $6 item per person at the next door cafe. The rooms are unrealistically small, the bathroom had lots of tiny black bugs. The door open to the outside so in my experience, that is NOT a HOTEL but rather a MOTEL. The front desk blonde was a hot mess! I would never stay here again.

    « Noisy »

First the positives. The hotel is in a great location overlooking the intracostal waterway with views of the Lions Bridge and very easy walking distance to St George's Street and the many attractions of St Augustine. There is also an Old Town Trolley tour stop on the door step. The rooms are small, especially the bathroom, which has a shower to high for most normal stature people. Our room was located on the right of the property and on one night it seemed we were in the middle of a nightclub which made sleeping difficult. Added to that we were located by a stairway to the upper floor down which guests bounced their cases and we were close to the ice vend machine that turns out to be very noisy. On two days we did not have our room serviced until we complained at Reception. All in all not a great stay.

« Great Location Not Worth The Hassle »

Recently stayed in this hotel for two nights while attending a wedding. The location is terrific. Right across the street from the intercoastal waterway, and within easy walking distance of most of the St. Augustine historic district and numerous restaurants and bars. But this is a very old facility, and it shows. The parking area requires a shoehorn, and excellent driving skills to navigate, and it's not free. The entrance to my room, which was excellent in appearance, was very close behind an exterior stairway leading to the second floor rooms, leaving me subject to foot traffic noise. The rear wall of my room must have been the wall of a nightclub behind the hotel. Although I couldn't see the source of the loud music, I felt like the band was in my bathroom. And it went until the early hours of the morning. And then, to add insult to injury, the morning of checkout day, the occupant of the room above me took a 30 minute shower causing the water to back up into the sink in my bathroom and overflow to the point that it covered a portion of the bedroom area floor. I was able to put my possessions on my bed to keep them dry. There's a reason this is a AAA 2-diamond hotel, but they're charging 4-diamond prices.

« Expensive Bay View Room Not Up to Snuff »

Reserved what I think is the most expensive unit in the hotel, billed as bay front. Beautiful view. Room not so much. Plumbing problems, missed housekeeping, motel-grade furnishings. With the view, it should be priced higher than other rooms ($300 after taxes) but the room itself should also be of equal value

    4
    « Great location »

Nicely situated on the bay front, easy walking to the historic district, restaurants and shops. Parking is a bit of an issue but friendly staff assist. No breakfast on site but the coffee shop next door is very good.

« So bad we didn't even spend the night »

We had room 232 on the front of the hotel. The bathroom area was so small, you had to step into the area and over the toilet in order to shut the door. I am an average guy, but I had to turn to the side just to step through the doorway. It was a cool night, but our a/c couldn't get the room cool. Finally, the road noise and the noise from the neighboring bar/grill were very loud - nothing some good windows couldn't fix. With all the above mentioned, we decided to check-out just hours later. Great location and nice staff

    4
« Great central location for the historic district »

This location is spot on when you are wanting to visit the historical district in St. Augustine. You are right across from the bay front and a multitude or restaurants and museums. We ended up parking our car and walking everywhere. Parking is super tight, and they actually will direct you where to park in their lot. They pretty much have it down to a science, so I wouldn't recommend trying to park on your own. From what I recall, one car per room, so if you have friends staying in the room there is a lot across the street where you can park at the old fort. Our room was on the second floor and we didn't notice very much noise from either room, despite the hotel being booked solid. There was a dog barking at one point, but the owners kept the dog's barking to a minimum. The room itself is very bright and airy, when you open the curtains to let the light in. Each room on the outside has a bench where you can sit and watch people. The rooms are not large, this obviously being an older hotel. The floors are a laminate which is a bonus and appeared to be clean. The bed was comfortable enough, although the bed springs did make an odd squeaky sound if you sat down too hard on them. The bathroom is definitely old. You have a shower only and room for one. There is, however, plenty of space to lay out your essentials above the sink area. The room was expensive for what we received, however, considering the location and the hotel prices surrounding us, we were willing to spend the money to stay here. For us, it was worth it. Especially after a less than subpar visit to their sister Best Western on Castillo the night before. You can read my review on that location, I won't hash it out here. When it comes to breakfast in the morning's, I have no idea if one is offered or not. We weren't informed. My guess was there was not one. All in all, we will definitely be back and husband says that he wants to stay here again.

« Perfect place to stay in St. Augustine Historic District »

The Hotel is very clean, and the staff is nice. The Convenience of the location was amazing. We had no idea where to stay in relevance to walking distance of all of the attractions. This place was perfect! Bonus if you take the hop on hop off Trolley, it picks you up right in front of the Hotel!

Great stay in St Augustine at the Best Western Bayfront. Friendly staff great location and awesome rooms. Close to shops and restaurants as well as Trolly tour stop . Stunning view and peaceful. Easy in and out.

« The location is ideal with great bay views »

We had a great experience staying at this hotel and the location is within walking distance of most attractions. The staff checking us in and out were very cordial and helpful. Our room was lovely and had a great view of the bay. It was spacious and had been upgraded. The only problem we had was the noises and people talking when the leaving the bars around 1:30-2:30 a.m. That isn't anything that the hotel has control over. The parking is tight but is very convenient. I would give the location 5 stars but the bar/restaurant traffic dropped it to four.

    5
« Excellent place to stay with a great view of the bay. »

The rooms are comfortable and the staff was extra helpful. The hotel is conveniently located in St. Augustine near the Lions Bridge and it overlooks the bay, just across the street from the Fort. Walking distance to everything I needed. I will definitely stay here again.

« Great location, Friendly staff, good value »

The staff was very friendly and helpful. This was a spur of the moment trip for me, last minute decision. The location is excellent for St Augustine, right across from the Fort, walk to restaurants, shops (and I mean walk next door for a great Martini, or more) Bus stop for the St Augustine circular bus to visit the other sites is right in front of the hotel. All in all, this is an excellent value.

    3
    « Excellent location »

Mattress was terrible, worn. There was rust in the area around the refrigerator and the room had a terrible smell but for the location we stayed put for the night. Enjoyed the area around the hotel, easy to walk around town.

« I will never book with BW again! »

It is an over priced motel. The room was clean, with the exception of the dust and the hair in the shower drain, but that is all I can say that is positive. They offer a free breakfast but it is awful and they don't even have fresh brewed coffee. No where to even sit when you have breakfast once you can get to the food.

    4
« Excellent spot for downtown St Augustine »

Perfect location for walking around to enjoy everything St Augustine offers. Walk to all the restaurants and bars, the fort and waterfront. The nightlife downtown is loud and fun so don't expect to escape the sounds while in this hotel! Great spot for sure but not quiet

    « Birthday Getaway! »

I was able to book a reservation at this property via my Best Western Rewards points. I had asked the reservationist to notate that it was for a 30th birthday getaway. Upon arrival my friend was wished a happy birthday! It was so nice, our room 232 was on the second floor (please note there are no elevators at this property) that was not an issue for us because we are abled bodied. What a beautiful view of the bay! Absolutely stunning - two queen size beds, mic and mini fridge in room. The location could not be beat for its proximity to the down town literally step onto the street. I had read the negative reviews in advance just to see what people had to say. Yes there is a 10 dollar per day plus tax parking fee. (People that is cheap! and going to be the case at any hotel in the area) Mildew odor in room- Our room was super clean and fresh, it had no odor. We were on the second floor though I can't speak of the 1st floor rooms which had been flooded in previous hurricanes (but so have most of the properties in the area) Noise- yes there is noise since it does back up to a popular area with bars and nightlife behind. - it seems that everything dies down pretty early. Worse case scenario bring some ear plugs, you WILL be fine. Overall it was a nice location, clean updated rooms, friendly staff and accommodations if you are in the area I would highly recommend.

« Good Find, Convenient location »

We spent 1 night here but wish it could have been more. This hotel is conveniently located across the street from Castillo de San Marcos and very close to St George st where you can find eating, drinking & shopping. The hotel was clean & pet friendly ($40 pet fee). The only thing I would say thats lacking, is they don't offer breakfast but they do offer a to-go bag with an apple, pastry, & water. Free bottled water is located in the reception area. One of my favorite things about this hotel, is that the rooms don't have carpeting.

    « Weekend getaway »

I frequently visit St.Augustine, but my friends and I wanted to enjoy the evening and stay in the historic city. The location is near many shops, restaurants and landmarks just a quick walk away. Parking is tight and there was an additional charge of 10.00, but we would pay that visiting for the day at the parking garage. Most rooms have a water view. Our room was clean and ready for us upon arrival. Bed was very firm, but I prefer a soft pillow top mattress. It's bearable for a weekend. Bathroom was recently renovated. No tub, just walk in shower. Toiletries provided included make up remover wipes too. A/C works, we had to turn it down because it was so cold.?? There is a vending machine that takes CC.nice to have after you have been walking around and just need a drink. Motel does provide 2 bottles of water free! There is a pool, hidden and has lounge chairs. I have stayed in this area before, but usually go for a B&B, but if you are just going for a quick weekend with girlfriends this is a good fit. Also, they are dog friendly.

    « Disappointing »

Not breakfast included. Key didn't work. Lamp didn't work. Girl at desk checked us in and didn't know where to direct us to room. Disappointing so far below Best Western standards. Never again will I make mistake staying at Best Western.

« Had to checkout of room. Could NOT sleep because of the noise generated by a bar behind the hotel. »

On Jan 26, 2018, I checked in RM114, put luggage in the room and left for an engagement with friends. When I returned around 10:00 pm and went into the room, I could hear the really loud music. I called the front desk and asked them to have the music turned down. They informed me that loud music was coming from a bar located behind them. They said they couldn't do anything until 10:30 pm when a noise ordinance came into effect. I called the front desk at 11:30 when the loud music continued. My wife and I put cotton in our ears but we still could not sleep. I called the front desk, they were very belligerent saying they couldn't do anything about the noise. I was staying in a downtown hotel and I should expect the loud noise. At 1 AM my wife and I packed our belongings and left the motel to find a motel where we could get some sleep. I went to the front desk and told a person named Garrett that we were leaving and I would dispute the motel charge with MasterCard. Garrett was very ugly and threatened me with bodily harm. I called my bank and they said there was nothing I could to do get my money back. I then called Best Western's home office to see if they would refund my money. They said it was up to their location to make any refund. They had contacted the St Augustine location and they refused to refund my money. am 74 years of age and in poor health and do not appreciate this kind of shoddy treatment.

    « All about location »

Face it, this is a decent but overpriced hotel. NO breakfast included and to say "tight parking" is being generous. The room was clean, nice Serta mattress but otherwise nothing special. You pay for the location and yes, it's almost perfect on that front. Right across from the intercoastal and walking distance to every main attraction (just a couple miles to the light house too) If you're someone who like to stay out late enjoying the restaurants, bars and clubs and want to avoid driving- it's well worth the price. Staff was very friendly and more than willing to help you negotiate the parking.

    4
« Location nice, Price high »

The Bed was Very hard and uncomfortable. So much do, that sleep wasnt good and I woke in pain. No breakfast service included for such a high price. The room was clean and the staff was very friendly and caring.

    4
    « Nice 2 night stay »

My husband and I stayed for two nights before our gulf vacation; the location is great, the staff is very accomadring, the rooms are clean but average: we did have an end room next to Meehans which was great for eats and drinks, did get a little loud late at night when we went to bed but to be expected it is St Augustine: only down side was smoke smell from our friendly neighbors made our room smell occasionally: maybe moving the smokeless ash trays to a different location would be nice

    3
« Great location, disappointing bathrooms »

Booked a couple of rooms for a couple of nights here as part of a road trip round Florida and this is such a great location for St Augustine - park up and walk to all the central St.Augustine attractions. The rooms are a decent size (we had two double queen size bed-rooms) but the bathrooms are tiny and in one room, the toilet overflowed and wasn't fixed til the next day with a ?don't flush it? recommendation... and in the other, a continually running cistern unless we intervened... the cleanliness wasn't a great standard, again, especially in the bathrooms. So a ?3? mainly due to location or else it would have been ?2?

    3
« Great location. Well priced. »

Once you've parked your car the old city is right there as are great bars and restaurants. Ask for room 101 for a picture window looking directly out to the Matzanas river. Nice size room with a microwave and mini-refrigerator.

  • 5
« Great place, comfortable room »

We experienced nice people at the desk and really nice accommodations. The room had a refrigerator, microwave, charging ports and coffee maker. It was in a great location wher3 we could walk everywhere. We were very pleased overall

    3
    « Overpriced for quality »

Overpriced for the quality of the hotel, however, it was a Saturday night when we were there, so it was completely booked. I guess the price was justified based on the law of supply and demand. The location is excellent and easy to find. The parking is a bit of an issue but then again, at lease they have parking. They should have outside trash containers, as we did see trash left in the parking lot and on some of the benches.

    1
« Great Location, Terrible Stay, Very Noisy, Pay for Parking, Pathetic Breakfast »

Not sure where to begin. I booked two rooms for a cost of $500 for one night. The location is the best but beware. I would NEVER stay here again because management does NOT care in the least about customers. I mentioned my problems when checking out and again in a call to find out what a charge was about and all they could say was ?I'm sorry?. If you still want to stay after this review, I strongly recommend staying in an upstairs room as there is NO sound proofing in these rooms at all. We had someone upstairs dragging furniture and bouncing something on the floor continually into the early hours of the morning. I have no idea what was going on and management did nothing about it. Because this motel (and it is a motel) is so close to the bars and restaurants, there was continual noise from the outside as if we were staying outside. Of course management can't control the way this place was built but this is a ridiculous place to stay unless you are hearing impaired. In the morning the breakfast mentioned on the website is a bag with fruit in it. We had breakfast next door and the place was tiny so very busy. The charge I called back about was for parking. $250 per night for a motel room and no free parking. I can't be certain but again, I did not remember seeing that when I booked. The following day was exhausting for me as I got little more than a couple of hours sleep. Horrible experience. I love St. Augustine but this is the worst place I have stayed at in this town. There are many better options for far less money. It is worth walking a little further.

    3
    « St. Augustine stay »

Overpriced for the quality. Only perk was location to downtown. Rooms were super noisy, bathroom windows didn't seal close so it was cold. The bathroom was so tiny and tight. Also doesn't offer breakfast which I thought should be included considering the price we paid

    5
    « awesome! »

Great hotel and good price for the location. Easy walking distance to St George Street where all the great restaurants are located. Had a great dinner at the Columbia restaurant. Staff at the hotel was great and very friendly.

    « Good Stay »

Had a 2 night stay. Good hotel in a great location. Rooms clean and comfortable. Ample parking space. Ideal hotel for a short break. No breakfast but free hot drinks machine and a grab and go bag. (Water an Apple and Danish pastry)

    « Christmas »

We stayed for the holiday and to see the light display. Best Western Bayfront was extremely convenient to everything. Loved the balcony. The hotel staff was very friendly. We will definitely be going back.

    1
« Not for travelers with breathing problems »

Hotel states on website 100% non smoking hotel. Yet they have butt cans out side the rooms on balcony. My room smelled of smoke which caused me problems with my asthma. I had also requested a 1st floor room when I registered online. I can not recommend.

    5
« Excellent Location, Tiny Bathrooms »

We stayed here one night to attend a wedding that was a few blocks away. The location was great ... close to everything and didn't worry about trying to find a parking spot. Front desk was very friendly and offered to provide any directions/support as needed. The room was very clean and I think most rooms have a view of the bay. The tram stops directly in front of the hotel, which is convenient for getting around. The only negative was the bathroom. It was so tiny you could barely move. The shower was also very shaky ... sounds strange I know but when you were showering, the floor was not solid and moved constantly. I would stay here again and would recommend it.

« Visit during Xmas time »

Stay during Xmas season was absolutely gorgeous. Temperatures was fabulous but crowds on Saturday were crowded. The town has so many things to do you can't do it all in one weekend. This is our second trip to St Augustine at Best Western and will be back

    5
    « Vacation »

We travel to St Augustine 2- 3 times a year. We started staying when it was called the Monterey Inn and since Best Western took over it was nice to see improvements and updates. for the money you can not beat this place. We love to travel with our small dogs and they are great with the arrangements. You can always pay more for nicer places and I know from experiences there are a lot of bad places. It's a 5 star for us

    3
« Great location, nice stuff, tight parking and very basic rooms »

This place has great location, but rooms are very basic and cheap looking inside (hotel is not cheap). Stuff was very nice. Parking is available, but very tight. No breakfast, but "bags to go". Good free coffee in the lobby.

« We will not return here again. »

My family and I visit St. Augustine every year for a mini vacation. This year we chose the Best Western Bayfront. Sadly, our stay was ruined by the disgusting floors and horribly thin walls in the room. Given the location we expected to hear noise from the adjoining alley and restaurants; however, the noise we actually experienced was generated from the neighboring rooms which were partying and very loud. The doors have been designed so they close automatically and always slam which is very loud when you're sleeping. As for the floors, they were visibly dirty when we entered the room, but a quick view of socks or the soles of your feet confirmed how bad they really were. We were disgusted but had no choice since everyone else was booked up in the area. Lastly, for anyone who is not slim or slender, good luck in the bathroom. The toilet and shower are in the same room and it is a very tight fit in there. My 11 year old twins even struggled to close the door. I will say that the staff were great and the view was very nice, but that was about all that appealed there!

    5
« Great location, cute hotel. »

It's small but very pretty, the rooms have beautiful brick along one wall and laminate wood floors. Can't beat the central location. Bathrooms are a little small but acceptable and clean. It got a little loud at night with the bars behind the hotel playing music till after midnight. Only an issue if you are very sensitive or have small kids.

    5
« Historic St Augustine Bayfront »

A great place to stay. Bot crazy about the comfort of the bed. Everything else was great. Very accommodating Staff was great. Close to everything able to walk to most places, right on the bus line. Great

« Good Stay in downtown (old) St. Augustine »

Close to waterfront marina, old fort and walking distance to old St. Augustine area and restaurants. No restaurant in Hotel; walk up to second level. Small rooms but adequate for short stay. parking available which is hard to find in this area. Walk to everything.

    1
    « NEVER AGAIN »

Good points about this place is it's perfect location affording a pleasant walk to the entire historic district. The pretty front desk clerk Julia was very nice and helpful with local points of interests. With that said this was the worst Best Western we've ever stayed at. The bathroom door would not shut unless it was slammed hard. The sink wouldn't drain and there was a very sour smell in the room which we never could pin point. Also, we could hear the TV blaring in the room next door. But the bar behind the motel was a nightmare. It kept us awake until way past midnight and unfortunately we had to leave early the next morning for a long trip. The blaring music and boisterous crowd was unbearable. We visit St.Augustine twice a year and we will certainly avoid this motel in the future.

    4
« Perfect location in downtown St. Augustine »

My family and I just stayed at the BW Bayfront Inn and really liked the recent hotel renovations. The hotel staff is very nice, they brought a complimentary crib to our room, the overnight parking rate is very reasonable, they offer complimentary morning coffee & bistro bags in the lobby, the Bayfront Inn location is within walking distance to just about everything and the Old Town Trolley makes a stop right in front of the hotel...I stay at this hotel every time I visit St. Augustine!

    3
    « Night of Lights »

Was a poor display to bring tourist dollars to St Augustine, The hotel rates in the area sky rocketed. The lights where fair at best. Food in the area is good at Schooners and the Spot, downtown nothing worth the price.

« Clean Room, Friendly People, Affordable »

We have stayed here two times. Each time our room, the lobby and the outside premises have been clean. The people are friendly and knowledgeable about the area's activities. We will definitely stay here again next year.

    4
    « Great Location »

We always stay at this motel whenever we visit St Augustine, which is about once a year. The location is great and the motel itself is nice and has been recently upgraded. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Parking is scarce, but they always seem to find room for all of their customers' cars on-site. Bathrooms are tiny, with plenty of towels provided (but no place to hang them!). Grab-n-go bags are a new feature this year, and a nice touch. Inside each bag is a bottle of water, a prepackaged Danish pastry, and an apple.

« The Best in Old Town »

My husband and I have visited St Augustine many times during the past 40 years. Such a quaint European feel and it offers so much to so many. BW St Augustine"s location is perfect! Bayfront view and in the middle of all the restaurants, bars, ice cream shops, coffee shops. Everything is walkable, but when you must escape, the BW is configured in a U-shape which creates a little oasis with just you and the bay. There is a lovely deck to relax and enjoy views of the sailboats. Rooms are updated and immaculate. A little small but cozy! Large picture window and nice little black benches right outside each room. Hotel was decked out for Nights of Lights so very romantic. Our 13 yr old min-pin was welcome which was a huge bonus!!! We rented a dog stroller in Faux Paws right around the corner, so he enjoyed the beauty of this charming town. Old town NEVER gets old!!!!

« hanky panky, stinky, lies »

Hotel had a bad musty odor probably from hurricaine flooding but not sure they did anything to rectify. Staff greeted me dishoveld and grinning as if caught doing something they knew they shouldn't have been doing on company time. This was approximately 7:30pm. Did not get the room requested when called to make reservation. Told I could have a similar one for a much higher price at check in.

« Great Location with Great View »

The location of this motel was excellent. Our room was nice and very clean. We were fortunate to have a 1st floor room so the fact that there was no elevator did not concern us. Very small bathroom but clean and generous with towels etc. The staff was very nice and helpful. Parking is at a premium but we were able to park right in front of our door. Our room was very quite and no problems with noise.

« Great place to stay. »

Nice room with fridge, microwave, etc. One of the nicest places to stash in St. Augustine. Great view of the Bay with a second floor roofed sitting area. Free coffee and bottled water all day. Does not serve breakfast.

We spent a long weekend before Halloween at the Best Western Bayside. The location was perfect for getting around the old part of town. The old fort was across the street, we had a wonderful view from the upstairs porch and it was very close to the action. The bed was wonderful and very peaceful. We slept very soundly and secure. Definitely the best hotel for the area. It will be our place to stay on the next trip there.

    « Unusual occurrence »

No elevator for second story rooms, bad if luggage is heavy to carry. No response to guest injury. Rooms clean, close to waterfront, close to excellent restaurants, and if ice cream is a favorite, close to a great ice cream shop.

« Not willing to help »

I booked a room here for 2 nights, very excited because of the location in the city. I needed to push back my trip by one day, and they would not work with me on it at all. It was not a busy time of year, and I inquired as to if they were fully booked. They were not. They would not reschedule, and they would not refund my deposit, and in fact charged me the full amount. We did not end up staying there, and because of this issue will not in the future. Be weary they just want your money.

We were visiting our daughter and she suggested to us to go the St. Augustine. We enjoyed the visit very much. Especially the carriage ride around town. !! Very informative.! The hotel we stayed at was on the bay and very nice. Close to the sites and restaurants!!

    « Love this place. »

Only reason it didn't get a 5 start rating from me is that the rooms are very tiny. We were just 2 people in a king room and there was very little walking space and the bathroom was so small. HOWEVER, it was clean and the location is great. Short walk to everything in the Downtown area, including the fort. Would highly recommend. I will stay here every time I visit.

« Wonderfully clean and the perfect location. »

Delightful! My gratitude goes to the attention that was paid to every detail. While the room was small, it was still thoughtfully packed with every amenity. Everything was new and working. The decor was updated and fresh. The room was very clean. The bed felt brand new. It was wonderful to find no carpet (all hotels should remove their carpet.) And of course, the perfect location. We will definitely be back!

The location was fantastic. The exterior appearance excellent. We loved the second floor porch overlooking the water. Problems: 1st floor room was musty, couldn't use the closet, the floor was dirty, towels were not replaced that were put on the floor and were not informed that there would be loud music directly behind our room that kept me awake until 2am! We are in our 70's and retire for the evening at 11pm. My husband takes his hearing aids out and cannot hear anything including a ringing telephone or smoke alarm! Lucky him .... The loud music and disgusting language (yes could even hear their loud, yelling voices from the bathroom,

« Good Compromise and Service. »

My wife and I were married in St. Augustine and decided to take an overnight trip for our 11th anniversary. We wanted to stay on Saturday night in close proximity to bars/restaurants. Hotels in this area are drastically more expensive on Saturday night not unlike most areas. After looking at a few other hotels in the area that would likely have been a bit nicer we decided to try out the Bayfront as we didn't expect to be in the room very much and the room was about $100/night cheaper. Hotels in an area like this are a bit tricky to review because you can't compare the hotels to your previous experiences due to the age of the buildings in this area and the difficulty these hotels have modernizing these buildings. We've stayed a couple places in St. Augustine and all have similar challenges. This hotel is a motel so the room doors face the outside. With that said, the area doesn't feel dangerous so having the door on the outside didn't seem to be an issue for us. Parking is a little odd but seemed to work. There aren't enough spots for all the rooms so they park cars in the middle behind one another. There is a hotel employee who was helpful indicating where to park, etc. This may get a bit more difficult in more busy times of the year as it didn't seem crazy busy this weekend. The room is a little small which is expected in historic St. Augustine but has everything you need. There is a small closet to hold some hung clothes and 3 medium sized drawers to hold clothes. This wasn't an issue for our small trip but may be a little more of an issue if someone who stays longer and doesn't want to live out of luggage. The smallness is really only a problem for a couple in the bathroom area. The bathroom is basically a half bath size with a tacked on shower. The shower is smaller than a cruise ship shower but did it's job for what we needed. An iron and hair dryer are provided for convenience. Location of this motel is great. It's a short < 5 min walk to the main areas of historic St. Augustine like St. George street. This made going out for dinner and shopping the next day so much easier as you don't have to try to find parking for the day/night. We didn't have any issues but the staff was always friendly when dealing with them. They also allowed us to leave our car on our check-out day so we can do some last minute shopping. Overall, I'd recommend using this motel if you are just looking for a good home base while enjoying it's great location to check out sites/shops/restaurants and bars in the area. If you need a more romantic setting for your trip then I'd probably spend the extra money on some of the other hotels in the area which have a better ambiance.

    « Beautiful View »

We stayed there in September. I read many reviews and we decided to give it a try. The location is amazing the views beautiful you can walk to almost everything and are right in the historic district. The room is a little older but has some updates and very clean which is very important to me. My only complaint is the pillows were so hard and mattress wasn't the most comfortable. But the breakfast is amazing. Not like your typical hotel breakfast. And the staff is very friendly. We liked it so much we are going back the end of November and we are bringing a bunch of our friends. So that says a lot.

« Our hotel stay made the day »

Let me start by saying this was an impromptu short birthday get away trip. A trip that my boyfriend, and myself both forgot to check the weather prior to taking off. The amazing customer service from Arryne & the specific room we were given made all the difference in the world! Our room was bayview, with the large outside covered lounge/smoking area just outside of our room! Nice clean room, comfy bed, and again customer service that you can't beat! We will be returning in the near future!

    « Another Great Stay!! »

Stopped in for 1 night on the way to Miami but as always it was another great stay at a wonderful property. Right after Hurricane Irma and a lot of the surrounding shops were closed but this is truly a great place to stay if coming to St. Augustine

    5
    « Great people-hurricane Irma heroes »

After a long trafficky drive from south Florida fleeing Irma, they took my family and two large dogs in without question and helped us in a tough situation. Great staff. Great location. The river across the roadway is a nice area to walk the pets. The restaurant right beside the hotel is awesome!

    5
« Lovely property, great desk staff, super location »

Waterfront, pet friendly, and Arryn at the front desk was awesome. Running from Hurricane Irma, I ran into car problems and this was an unexpected stop, but since I had always wanted to stay in St Augustine, I had my opportunity, and ended up being the best lemonade when I was being dealt lots of lemons that day. Clean rooms, awesome waterfront downtown location, was able to walk the dog a few doors down for a well needed cocktail :-) As pet friendly as it is, I don't think it had a blade of grass, but the promenade along the water was just across the street. Shower in my room was a bit tiny, particularly for a large person, which I am not, so it was just fine for me. As much as I had always wanted to stay at a B&B there, this visit was so wonderful, I'm thinking I will have to return since they impressed me so much.

We found this hotel to be very comfortable. We were able to relax and enjoy our two day stay. The employees were all very courteous, the room was very nice and very comfortable. Did not get to sample their nice swimming pool, too many things to see in town. Employees were quick to give us discounts to many of the places in town.

    « Horribly renovated rooms »

The bathrooms do not have ventilations systems, the AC unit had bugs on it, and the late-night staff was rude and unhelpful when all we asked was where the ice machine was located. Definitely wouldn't recommend this hotel.

    3
    « So much noise!! »

We visited for 2 nights (Saturday and Sunday) over Labor Day weekend. While the location is certainly convenient (right on the waterfront downtown) that means that you get all of the street noise through the poorly insulated windows, and there were 3 rooms of people partying on the balcony in front of our room until 4 a.m. I wonder if there is any security at the hotel! The bathroom is extremely tight, and there is not even a table next to the easy chair by the window. All this for $389 on Saturday night - $269 on Sunday night. Oh, and the beds are extremely firm.

We stayed there last month on vacation in room 112 the room was so clean and nice that floors shined the cleanest floors I ever seen in a hotel , we arrive and the guy parked our truck a very friendly nice guy help us with our bags to our room, we where close to everything grate location for walking , We went out that night and when we came back our little dog was sick and messed all over the room the next morning, she was still sick thought we where going to have check out and head home, I seen the executive housekeeper Dixie and ask her if we could have our floors mopped because the our dog was sick she came right back her self and cleaned and mopped our room and gave us extra rags I told her we might check out the next day because our dog was sick and we didn't want to leave her alone and we had plans for the day but didn't want to leave the dog, she told us to go on she would check on our dog every hour and if she got sick she would clean it up ,She took good care of our dog so our vacation wasn't ruin , the next day our dog was better and we stayed the week the best place I've ever stayed the staff was all so good to us we will defiantly be stay here every vacation,

Stopped over in St. Augustine for a quick weekend. This hotel is in the perfect spot to walk everywhere you need to go or there is a trolley stop right out front. The pool is refreshing. The rooms are clean. They have a second floor patio you can relax on an watch the bay. I saw dolphins the first morning I sat out there with my coffee.

The location of Bayfront Best Western was excellent. We could easily walk to many great restaurants and shops. We were traveling with our small dog and the area was very pet friendly. We plan to return to Saint Augustine and Bayfront again to try out more of the fabulous restaurants and shops and the historic attractions we did not have time to visit this time round

We were on trip to South Carolina to meet up with son and view totality of solar eclipse. We stayed in Best Western hotels as we crossed several states. This hotel was chosen for its proximity to the historic district and views of the bay. We were greatly surprised and pleased to be upgraded to a deluxe suite with direct view of the bay across the street. Everybody was very helpful and courteous. We wil definitely stay here again and reccommend it highly.

Very satisfied.. close to everything. I walked everywhere. Trolley Tour was great. Was a little overwhelmed at the history of the city. Would go back and I can because I live pretty close. Orlando!!!! Staff was accommodating. I loved the pool area. My biggest complaint is that I don't have 200 more words to write. So I will just say hello and good night, but I can't because I still don't have 200, so have a great day...

« Love Best Western Bayfront, St. Augustine, FL »

This is easily the best and most convenient hotel to stay at for visiting St. Augustine. Walk right into the Old City from the hotel. Rooms are spotless, comfortable, and reasonable. Parking, which is a major hassle in St. Augustine, is great at this hotel. We stay there every time we visit St. Augustine.

    4
    « Great Location »

This hotel is smack-dab in the center of everything in downtown St. Augustine. Walking distance to Ripley's, Trolley Tours, St. George Street, etc... Great restaurants close by. The bathroom is itty-bitty and there were some cosmetic blemishes, but the room was CLEAN and that's what's important to me. Because you are downtown, the Trolley bells ring starting at about 8:00am so if you want to sleep in, probably not going to happen. The pool is small so if that's important (it wasn't for us) this may not be for you. We enjoyed our stay and would stay there again!

    « Excellent stay »

Waterfront hotel with everything in St. Augustine within walking distance. Clean, comfortable, and quaint. There is ample parking and a nice swimming room. The blinds keep out all of the light, which was an issue at my last hotel. The staff was very friendly.

    « Not pet friendly »

There is not onsite pet relief area. Had to walk dog across a very busy 4 lane road. It was stressful and dangerous for both us and our dog. This hotel charges for dogs but no "bathroom" for them! Would not recommend for anyone traveling with a dog.

    « Location is Perfect »

This Best Western isn't as nice as other Best Westerns I have stayed in, but it has been remolded and to be at the location it is at cannot be beat. Housekeeping also wasn't as through as other Best Westerns, but in their defense they have a lot of rooms to clean. Besides we didn't stay there much anyway. The bed was the most comfortable bed we have ever slept on, including the one at our own home. The front desk people were very friendly and helped with anything we needed. Coffee is available 24 hours a day and it is fantastic. Loved the Bay being right across the street and watching the sunrise every morning. I also had a problem with my payment, but Sean talked to me several times and was so kind and courteous each time and it was straightened out. Also, I really can't understand why you have to pay $10.00 a day to park. The only time anyone helped us find a place was the first day. You are pretty much on your own, and for not having breakfast I feel they should definitely not charge you that much to just park there. I would definitely stay here again. You just cannot find a better place to stay if you want to be in the middle of town. It is about 11 minutes from St Augustine Beach also which is a plus.

« You will LOVE it! »

I needed a place to stay for a few nights until I closed on my condo here in St. Augustine.' i loved it at the Best Western Bayfront. You're right in the middle of everything... including restaurants... and right across from the water. There's a lovely covered porch where you can drop by with a drink or a snack. I met several great people on that porch. And the view from the porch of the Bridge of Lions after sunset is beautiful! I highly recommend this 'inn'.

    4
    « Great location! »

Really loved the location. Was happy to have a close place to park that seemed secure & right by our room. The pool looked good although we didn't go in. This hotel is right across the street from the bay & the fort!

    4
    « Location Location Location »

We've stayed at this hotel many times, primarily for the location, bayfront, easy walking to a variety of areas, restaurants, shops, a walk along the bayfront/Bridge of Lions section, The Fort, other historic areas/shopping/eateries and more; head northerly to quaint neighborhoods--fun to walk through, enjoy the architecture and detail. If tours are your thing, loads of options and easy to coordinate. Horse-drawn carriage rides directly across from the hotel. The rooms are average; the room above the office offers a large bayfront window/view, though patron seating area is just outside the door and can be noisy at times; the bath in this room is small--overall, that room should be completely renovated in consideration of their fee for it (bayfront). The entire hotel could use even a better upgrade than the one they have attempted recently. Worth a stay, the location is so convenient to loads of activities.

    « Perfect Location »

We have been to St. Augustine in the past but staying here made all the difference. It was close to everything, shopping, restaurants. Complimentary continental breakfast would be a plus.

« Great View, Great Location »

We have been visiting St Augustine at least one a year since 1980. During that time, we have stayed everywhere from "Just off the interstate" to the Beach, to the middle of downtown. This is one of the better places to stay when visiting the City. It is within easy walking distance of all downtown attractions and has a view of the Matanzas River that is breathtaking. The property itself has been there a long time but has been updated to have all modern amenities. The room and all common areas were clean and kept in good order. Staff members were friendly and went out of their way to help in every way possible. ***So Why Only 3 Stars?*** The hidden $10 a day parking fee. When reserving through the Best Western website, this is not included in the quoted price. It is not until you check out that you will find this charge. I know the "extra charges may apply" disclaimer is on the reservation, but this is the first time I have stayed at a hotel and where the parking fee was not disclosed at check in or clearly stated on the property's local website.

    4
    « Great location »

Located right across the street from the waterfront and right in the middle of the action. Rooms were clean and neat. St Augustine is a great destination and this property puts you right downtown. Immediate access to restaurants and bars on the main drag.

« Very retro motor court, BEST location, well maintained »

Directly on St Augustine waterfront. Don't be put off by the old style motor court layout. Rooms are kept up to date, clean, good wifi. And you are within yards of amazing history and superb dining in the Ancient City. Breakfast not included, 10% discount, but it is EXCELLENT, home cooked, graciously served, and a very good value. Best view is from the two rooms directly above the office, unequaled by any other St Augustine hotel.

« Disappointed in the room and cleanliness based on a room rate including taxes of $164.65 »

I stayed at the Best Western on June 20, 2017 and found the room was not what was depicted on the web. First impressions were bad as I noted trash and cigarettes on the stairwells (have photos). The room was fairly small, had fairly old furniture and bedding, plus the air conditioner was located next to the bathroom in a position that was not conducive to allow cool air to flow into the room where you sleep. During the heat of the day I was unable to cool the room down to a comfortable level. I found dirt and hairs on top of the air conditioner ledge (have photos). I mentioned my concerns to the manager and he did offer us an option to cancel without penalty. I was unable to get a room at the Casa Monoca (five star hotel) with two queen beds so we stayed at the Best Western. The manager was pleasant but the room was not worth $164.65 as I have stayed at hotels off the interstate for $60.00 that were clean and modern. Restaurant next door called Mary's Harbor was excellent for breakfast and horse buggy rides were great, ask for the horse called Toby as the driver was excellent. I will say the pool was well maintained and there were plenty of towels available.

« Great Location but Uncomfortable Beds »

The location is great! Close to shops, fort and the bay is right across the street. My husband and I prefer a firm mattress and these were very spongy/soft which was very uncomfortable. They do charge a $10 parking fee to park in their lot. We didn't find out about that until a charge showed up on our credit card afterwards so I called to find out what it was for. As much as you pay for the room I feel they shouldn't be charging extra for parking. Like I said location was great but I don't think we will stay there again.

« Centrally located with lovely water view! »

Had a very nice stay at this hotel at the beginning of May. Staff was very accommodating throughout our stay. Property was sold out, parking was tight, but the staff was always on hand when you pulled in to direct you to a parking spot. Location was great and within walking distance to all of the shops and dining in the historic district. Would definitely stay here again. We had the room next to the room over the office and there is a large and comfy deck that is accessible to all of the guests, and even so, it was mainly a quiet place to sit back and relax and have a coffee or a cocktail.

« Very disappointing, horrible experience! »

We ended up only staying on night, there was a rude, drunk who got in my face and tried to get confrontational wit me in front of my kids. He was a man by the way and I'm a 4" 11'women. I called the front desk and they offered NO solution, and since I was threatened with bodily injury over a parking space, I left the following morning. The front office should've done something. The night shift clerk offered no resolution or apology and the day shift clerk laughed about it. Very disappointing.

    « Not a hotel but a motel. »

Good location. Pricey for size of room, pool and parking. Beds made but linen not changed until asked. Floors not cleaned swept or mopped. Parking area very small difficult at times to maneuver around. Noticed pool filter not working and usually ran out of towels. Not much room around pool area for sun bathing or walking.

    « Comfortable stay »

This Best Western is very conveniently located in the heart of St. Augustine's historic district. It is an older property so it doesn't offer a lot of frills and the rooms are small, but generally clean and well maintained. Easy access to all attractions, shopping, and food. Nice view of the bay. Can be a little noisy at night, with a bar immediately behind, but not too disturbing. Staff was very courteous and helpful. Good value overall.

« Don't stay if you want to sleep... »

I'm currently here - it's almost 1am and the bar/club next door is so loud that none of our family is able to sleep. I went down to the lobby to see if they can move us, but unfortunately they are full. They have promised to move us to a quieter room in the morning....let's see. It's honestly probably the worst hotel room I have ever stayed in when it comes to noise. It's absolutely horrific. On the plus side, it's very pet friendly which is great, though since even our dog can't sleep it's not as great as we had hoped! Location is good and the room is ok. But the NOISE. If you like sleep -- avoid.

    « Best Western Bayfront »

The Best Western Bayfront offers close proximity to the Spanish Quarter of St. Augustine and has wonderful views of the fort and waterfront. I have been staying at this Best Western randomly for business and pleasure for the past 4 years. (probably about 50 nights) I have seen the nice improvements being done to the rooms. Although some of the rooms are on the small side, they are very clean and offer large screen LED televisions. I really enjoy leaving this hotel and just walking throughout St. Augustine. All making this location desirable for business travel as well as families/couples. The staff is very friendly and accommodating.

    4
    « Great location »

The only issue I had was the bathroom had mild and mildew in and around the shower. The bed was on the harder side. But the location was great and the service was excellent. The room is on the smaller size but it has everything you need.

    « Perfect spot! »

The hotel is located within walking distance to so much, it was the perfect choice! We arrived early and were able to check in and leave the car until it was time to leave. The front desk made us feel very welcome and our hotel neighbors were friendly. Quiet sleeping and clean room. Lack of breakfast isn't a problem as there are many choices nearby. We did find an extra charge on our credit card upon returning and didn't get an emailed invoice like requested instead of a printout, but I'm sure that will be resolved if our interaction there was any indication of how professional they are.

« Great couple of days »

Great location for walking around Historical St Augustine. We parked the car at the hotel, there was a parking fee, but them didn't have to use it again during the two days we stayed there. Room were modern, clean and comfortable, a little on the cosy side but big enough for what we wanted. Walking distance to the Castillo de San Marcos and town and then rode the trolley tour bus to get around, purchased the tickets from the hotel. No restaurant how the hotel reception had coffee/tea machine available as well as these in the room. Ate at Mary's Harbor View Cafe for breakfast, which was great and also rec'd 10% by showing the room key to Best Western. Would recommend the hotel.

I was referred by a worker about this place what a good tip. I stayed in Room 201. the balcony just out my door and a great view. The hotel manager was a great help with local attractions. THANK YOU TREY, We will be back soon. Thank Arlly and Briar for tips about parking

    « Shower too small. »

Shower is small and shower head is meant for a larger shower so if you are under 6'5 or so you will be sprayed in the face your entire shower. They should definitely make a change. Otherwise comfy stay

    « Great - Great - Average »

Great location, great customer service, but average accommodations at best. Located along the bay and next to the Spanish section makes for a great location; the 2nd story deck overlooking the bay is a great place to hang out for morning coffee or an evening snack. The hotel rooms themselves are really showing their age. That, combined with not providing any type of continental breakfast (they do offer a 10% discount at the restaurant next door), gives them an overall rating of average.

    « Extended Weekend Getaway »

The reason for 4 stars it the location. This is centrally located in St Augustine and you can pretty much walk to all old town attractions. We could see the river from our room and that was a plus. The room was clean the bed was comfortable and in general it was what we expect from Best Western. This motel also offered a viewing deck facing the river. The down side was the very narrow stairs leading to the 2nd floor and the parking lot that was a bit of a zoo and cost $10 daily. The room attendant was a bit lax and we had to go the office three times to get toilet tissue, facial tissue and coffee cups. The office offered free coffee that was far superior to the little "make it yourself" packets in the rooms. In general would recommend this motel due to the excellent location.

    « Cozy, Perfect & PET FRIENDLY »

This Best Western is perfect in all ways. Great upper deck patio, rooms are updated and very clean. They have someone who will help you park your vehicle if needed. Staff is nothing but perfect and will go out of there way to accommodate you. The location is right in town and walking distance to just about anywhere! VERY PET FRIENDLY!!! I highly recommend this as a must stay at hotel. The view is breathtaking.

    « Location location location »

We booked this last minute on a bargain rate and were not disappointed. As other reviewers note the rooms are small - and dark but that's about the only negative. Staff on reception are first rate - and issue with cleaning our room was dealt with efficiently and appropriately. Disappointing that there wS no breakfast (not cheap in the town) Wifi is free and strong. The comfort of the room and it's location in town makes this a really good place to stay. Note - on arriving from the South you have to pass the hotel and then turn left up a back street to get back to the road into the car park.

Beautiful views. Walking distance to shopping, attractions and dinning. Professional, courteous staff. Rooms were comfortable and nicely decorated. Fridge and microwave provided. Outside pool and pool deck clean and well maintained.

« Love the area and location. »

This particular Best Western was almost directly across from the Old Fort and had a beautiful view of the matanzas bay and the Lions Bridge definitely would stay here again upon my return. the hotel staff is extremely accommodating the front desk staff made me feel at home the moment I walked in the door

    « early departure »

We had to leave early due to my wife getting sick. We did not even get to stay the night and were not offered a discount or rebate or even a return visit. The location was amazing and we would have loved to experience all that this place had to offer but unfortunately we were not able to.

    « Amazing location, staff & room! »

We arrived in St. Augustine knowing nothing about the town - we were SO grateful to have randomly chosen this hotel, it was perfect! It is located on the water and right at the center of the city's best culture. The location truly could not be better! All of the staff were beyond friendly and helpful with dining suggestions tailored to our style, and providing tips to help us maximize our time exploring the city. We didn't spend much time in our room, but it was lovely!! Spacious, stylish, clean, comfy, and had all amenities you could possibly need. We would/will definitely stay here again!

« Great location with even better staff »

I started this review as 4 stars because the rooms really are outdated but it is the oldest city in the country so I suppose it goes with the theme. It is one of my best experiences traveling. We checked in and we were thrilled with the location. The room we were assigned was off to the side with no direct view of the bay so we were bummed about that. I decided it doesn't hurt to ask so even though we had checked in I went to the front desk and explained it was my daughters birthday and asked if we could possibly be moved. To my surprise born staff members jumped in and kept looking until they were able to move us. They really went above and beyond. The location is perfect. We parked our car when we arrive and walked everywhere. It's literally directly across the street from the old fort and right in the amazing walking district. They have this coffee bar in the lobby that I cannot say enough about. It was PHENOMENAL! I just kept going back and probably had 10 cups over the 2 days I was there. If you're going to St. Augustine and don't require a 5 star room this is the place to stay. We've stayed in 5 different hotels down there and I haven't reviewed any of the others because they just weren't noteworthy. Between the staff, the coffee bar, and the location this place cannot be beat. When we checked out on Sunday I asked if I could leave my car for a few hours fully expecting an apologetic no but again they were more than happy to accommodate. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

    « Extremely Pleasant Experience »

Goodness where do I start? I called the last minute after deciding to surprise my wife for a night in St. Augustine, thinking since it was such sort notice they were going to give me a hassle... not one bit they told me they have a room available right away. upon arriving we were greeted with a smile and a "anything we can do to make your stay pleasant" attitude. they treated me like a VIP guest! after eating and sight seeing all the recommendations the staff gave us we had a fun filled/just what we needed night. we woke up a little later than usual so realizing I was going to miss check out time I called down to the lobby and the lovely hotel employee automatically heard the concern in my voice, replied with not a problem we moved it back to noon. Every question I had they had a answer or solution. The rooms were extremely clean. and the hotel grounds are kept up so nicely; at one point I almost felt as if I was at a resort! I can not thank To top it all off, the GENERAL manager called me and made sure my stay was going alright! I want to thank the Best Western Bayfront staff so much for making my night with my wife unforgettable! we will be back very soon to enjoy another night! thank you thank you!

« Great location and comfy bed! »

My fiance and I stayed the weekend here and absolutely loved it. We wanted to stay another night if we could! We could walk right to shopping, bars, dining, and attractions like the Castillo San Marcos. The hotel itself is also a Trolley Stop for Old Town Trolley Tours which we got so we could hop on and off and see the city. We parked the car with ease and left it all weekend in the hotel parking lot until it was time to go. We enjoyed breakfast our last day at the small hotel diner which was cozy and local and delicious. Would absolutely recommend. The rooms were smaller than normal, but clean and comfortable and we really didn't spend much time in there anyway since there is so much to see and do. Water pressure was good and the microfridge was awesome!

    « Reservations don't matter »

I made reservations for a 1st floor room. We didn't want to lug our luggage to the 2nd floor. If we couldn't get a room on the 1st floor we would have stayed somewhere else. We got there at check in time. There was a man checking in. When it was our turn we were told the man in front of us got the last 1st floor room. He was a walk in and we had a reservation. The clerk could not understand why I was upset. Frankly she didn't care. We had help carrying our luggage. The room was sort of clean. The floor wasn't. The bed was very comfortable. The location great. But I would never stay again. What good is a reservation if it isn't honored. Employees weren't friendly. Never again!!

« Terrible Place to stay »

We made the mistake of staying here for 4 nights instead of one of the other Best Westerns in town because of its location. We made reservations 6 months ago and nothing mentioned a fee for parking. It is $10 per day to park I a very tight lot. The bed was exceptionally hard. The A/C was very loud although not loud enough to drown out outside notices. Housekeeping was abysmal. I certainly will not stay here again.

    5
    « Hmmm Breakfast? »

I had a good night in this Hotel, but lacks of a place to have some breakfast. Very close to the San Marcos fort and other good places walking distance. Room was great, pool was small but good enough for a good swim.

    « Tiny but PERFECT!!! »

Wow!!! Had read reviews previously that were not completely favourable......but, I have to tell you.....this was an amazing little hotel. On check in we were offered first or second floor.....(after hiking miles in Tennessee and driving 8.5 hrs---first floor sounded perfect). The room was CLEAN..the washroom was small, but more than efficient. The counter space around the sink was small....but there was an additional counter placed above. You have to keep in mind this is a very old hotel....that has been re-furbished. The bed was HUGE!!! Often times, I hang over the bottom edge of the bed.....I was able to lay flat, on my stomach, and not even reach the bottom. Best sleep we had had all week. Free internet is included. They do not have a breakfast as per-se.....but if you inquire at the front desk....they have "Grab and Go's". This is a danish, apple and water. There is also a hot chocolate/cappucino machine you can utilize as much as you would like. Each room is equipped with a microwave and small fridge. PROXIMITY.......you are in the heart of downtown St Augustine. It is perfect!!! You are just a short walk to all shops, restaurants and across the street from the bay and the fort. What an amazing location!!! My dtr and I would not hesitate to stay at this quaint little hotel again. Parking is additional.....$10/nt. But if you take into consideration...you are right at the hotel, city center....and all other parking can cost up to $15/day.

    « St Augustine »

Fabulous place for vacation. Absolutely love it! It's quite a Beautiful city. Like eating at Pizzaalley. Great shopping places and several things to see like the Fountain of Youth. Great beaches on of which we were able to drive on. I'm sure we only saw a small portion of the whole beautiful city.

This hotel was fantastic. We were even so very lucky to get a room right next to the rooftop patio which was very convenient for sitting and relaxing after a long day walking downtown St Augustine. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

« Prime location with breathtaking views »

This quirky hotel pays for itself for proximity to the water and attractions. Park your car in their lot and don't touch it again until checkout. Literally 10 steps away from Old City. Pros: price, water views, location, clean, strong wifi, comfy beds and pillows, outstanding water pressure in shower, mini fridge and microwave, quality toiletries, deep outdoor pool, new TV and modern decor, strong AC Cons: odd parking lot that looks like the size of a backyard patio but it is well maintained, freezing pool(management should consider heating it or it is only usable in summer), no free breakfast, not handicap assessiblle, no elevator, very narrow stairway and bathrooms

    « Vacation trip »

This motel was located right on Ole Town and convenient to walk to everything downtown or buy a trolley ticket. View was fantastic looking out into the bay. Room was small, but is older, but had been updated. Only complaint was the parking fee for self park in a very crowded area.

    5
    « Consistently excellent »

What a perfect location for the Bay and St. George St downtown area, and for a reasonable price! Now it's not 5 star hotel, but from the friendly service, excellent coffee machine in the lobby, I'm serious, great coffee and free, the to go bags in the office with water and apple and danish thing, the great AC units to the comfy beds, this place is worth the $215 or so per night. They have a parking attendant that will get you a spot, since parking is tough when a lot of people are there. It's right next to the fort. A tip, the breakfast place next to them is NOT good! Go to Athena Greek place, incredible breakfast! If you don't need a luxury hotel, this place is great! Again, the staff is awesome here every time I visit! Love the free bottles of water too! The tour trolleys pick up at the front too! They earn an excellent rating because of the price value, not the luxury.

« Great location, clean rooms and very friendly, helpful staff »

The location is absolutely perfect, and the views from the communal sitting area are wonderful. While the room was on the basic side, it was clean and the bed was comfortable. They were very helpful when we checked in, and the whole experience was one I'll remember with great affection.

« Place is HORRIBLE Location is not everything »

Location Location Location is not everything. The place is awful. Where should I start? Well lets start when you first sign in. Guest have to Pay for parking. The parking is tight. The disable parking is not even up to code. Next, lets go into the room, The door will not even close all the way, There is light from the outside coming in from around 1/4 of the door. There are adjoining doors to the next room, which I always hate. The curtain would not close the whole way for privacy wife fixed that. The refrigerator would not work, We had to call them to get it going. The TV would not work, had too call them to fix it. They left the entertainment center out I had to push it back in. The channels are awful so be sure to bring your media streaming device. There is only one chair to set in at the little desk so you have to go to the bathroom to sit on the toilet to put clothes on. They had a lamp in the corner of the room with wires and cords showing. The bath room was small. A person cannot even turn around in the shower. The shower curtain did not keep all the water in so be careful getting out the floor will be soak with water. I measured the shower it is about 20 inches wide. If you have to use the toilet, hope that you are a small person, if not good luck, The bed is hard as a rock. During the night you can hear everything that goes on outside, cars pulling up, doors slamming, The walls are so thin, you can hear the people in the next room having sex Nothing like being woke up at 7:00 am in the morning with the sound of the cleaning crew pushing the carts outside the door. If you are planing on going to the swimming pool. Do not, it is small, even the deck around it is small, The room cost around $170.00 plus parking, we checked other areas there is a bed and breakfast right beside it on the corner looked into that for our next trip it looks a lot better. There are a couple of other Best Westerns that are more modern and better for a lot cheaper.. Save your money for the tours and eating and stay in them. This place is a horrible it is still outdated

    5
« Absolutely; Best Location In Town!! »

Third visit to this location and this is the second review. I can't express our satisfaction with the location of this property relative to all the best amenities that St Augustine has to offer. Park your vehicle and walk to all the best spots in town. If you want to travel further out to, say, the Distillery, the tour tram stops in front. The same applies to the horse and carriages, they also board in front. Walk to George Street or the Columbia: they're one block behind the motel. Shopping on George Street, one block behind. Walk to the fort? It's across the street. Who could ask for more. It is an older property? Yes, but well maintained. We love it and will return again. We recommend it to all our friends that travel to the city. Enjoy!

    « Beauitful view. »

Two thumbs up! Walking distance to the fort, water views from the big balcony, really convenient. You can't go wrong with this place. Room was comfortable, parking is tight but they help you when parking and you can leave your car there and catch the trolley right outside.

« Terrific Service and Personnel »

We stayed at the Bayfront only three weeks after hurricane Matthew and found it to be in excellent condition. Location is a big plus for this hotel. Most importantly the people who work here are excellent ambassadors for their employer. Ms. Julie Johnson the front desk day manager was exceptional. She was attentive to our needs and desires. I observed her patience with other hotel guests when they were concerned about local weather conditions which obviously she or the hotel did not control. Ms Johnson was also extremely knowledgeable. She was an excellent source of information for what to do and where to go.

    « It's all about location »

The hotel was older and the room small but that is expected when you visit one of the oldest cities in the US. The room was clean and comfortable. Parking was limited but a staff member came out and helped me out with finding a spot and directing me so that was very helpful. The location was great. Right in the middle of everything. Walking distance to all the downtown areas. As I mentioned the staff members were very accommodating and very helpful going out of their way to help me. Awesome staff! I would go back for a quick stay/short weekend. Anything longer and i would need a bit more room.

    5
    « Overnight stay »

The hotel is very nice and clean. I only wish they offered a continental breakfast. But other than that I would highly recommend it. The staff was very nice. I didn't have a reservation but we were still able to get a room.

« Great Location and Great Staff! »

This Best Western was recommended to us by a staff member of a B n B in town. I'm so glad we took her recommendation. It was clean, neat and the view was amazing. Tre the manager and Samantha went above and beyond. They were professional and knowledgeable of the town and helpful with internet and any other questions we may have had about the room or the town St. Augustine. We only stayed one night but by the time we left I felt as though I had two new friends in St. Augustine! You guys were great and thanks so much for making our short stay such a wonderful experience!!! Wish I had more experiences like this one.

« Wonderful staff and great place! »

We went for a quick weekend getaway with no reservation and they were able to accommodate us. This was awesome considering they were hosting 2 wedding parties that weekend. They gave us the bay front room. It was beautiful and clean. Great location. I parked and we never had to drive the rest of our time there. The staff there (especially Aaron) were so helpful and nice! We will definitely be back :)

    5
    « great stay »

clean rooms and friendly staff Julia was very kind and prompt with her service in helping us find great places to eat and getting around St Augustine. The outdoor balcony was small but there were small bench seats just outside the room. The location easily accessible to old town. We will be planning another trip there!

    3
    « Second visit »

This was the second time we stayed at this Best Western. Love the location and convenient parking, but we found we could not enjoy the outdoor space. The pool and the out door balcony overlooking the fort and the harbor are lovely, but we were not able to enjoy either of these areas because of ever present cigarette smokers. My husband is allergic to cigarette smoke. Every time he tried to spend some time outdoors, he had to return to our room. We will not be staying there again.

« Nice Room in a Great Location »

This is an average hotel, for the most part, but its location elevates it a bit. It's only a few blocks away from Old Town, shops & restaurants, with a great view of the bay. There's an upper level deck where you can hang out and have a snack or a drink. The pool is kind of shoe-horned into a corner but it's good enough. Parking is extremely tight and they're now charging extra to park on site. Our second floor room was large enough and clean; a/c worked fine. The people manning the desk were courteous and helpful. Hurricane Matthew might have done some damage to the first floor rooms since much of St. Augustine was under two feet of water so I'd inquire about that if you're planning on visiting.

    « $40.00 a night hotel »

Total disappointment, when I called to make my reservation I asked if the room had a bay view I was all the rooms have a bay view but not all are bay front. When we arrived and went to the room there was no bay view, we where facing the parking lot. The bathroom was tiny, you had to go in move to the side so you could close the door. When I went to complain to the manager about the view he told if I go into the parking lot I would be able to see the bay and that is a bay view. I told I can't see the bay from my room like I was told he said that was the best he could for me. When he left a very nice helpful worker took me and showed me room upstairs that had a view. The stay was one big let down. The shower water smelled like rotten eggs and when you wiped yourself off there was a brown rust residue on your skin and the room smelled like rotten eggs for an hour after your shower. I would not recommend this hotel to a dog. This hotel is worth maybe $40.00 a night, and that might be too much. Do yourself a favor and do not stay here.

    4
« Great Place To Stay »

Staying at the Bayfront Inn in St. Augustine is a very convenient thing to do. It's in the middle of all things 'touristy'. Even though it's at ground zero/tourist central, the room was quiet. It was clean too. No problems in that area. Aaron, the front desk clerk was very helpful and pleasant. We would certainly stay there again.

    2
« Poor Experience as Best Western by the Bay, St. Augustine »

Construction going on on the first floor, lots of dirt, lots of trucks, nose level during the day above acceptable, noise level at night above acceptable coming from Bar in the back playing extremely loud music. No breakfast, check-in staff very unfriendly and moody. Room was clean and housekeeping staff was pleasant - not a good value, not a good experience.

    5
    « Great Location »

Stayed in this hotel on the first floor in August 2016. Great location, you can walk to just about every attraction. They had a small pool, but it is a decent enough size for a quick cool off. Parking was $10 a day, but worth it as parking in St. Augustine can be difficult. The front desk staff was very nice and helpful with giving information about the area.

    5
« Super clean. Friendly Staff! »

The rooms were really nice and clean. The staff went over and above with every request. Nico the parking attendant really knows what he's doing! He got every car in that small lot without having anyone blocked in.

    « Exceptional Service »

My friend and I arrived on Wednesday, October 5th at 10 a.m. Tyler was nice enough to let us check in and park at that time. The location was excellent, the room clean and well-appointed. After seeing the sights for a couple hours, the weather worsened and we decided it would be wise to leave ahead of Hurricane Matthew's arrival. I called Tyler and asked him if we could have a partial refund. He refunded our complete purchase price promptly and let us leave our car in the parking lot until we could connect with the rest of our party. We will definitely stay here on our next visit! Thank you for your kindness and understanding, Tyler

    « Happy Place »

I have always loved Saint Augustine. Recently started staying here to be closer to Old Town. Lovely accommodations and great view from bay facing window. What really sold me on this place though was the staff. Julia in particular bent over backwards to make sure we had everything we needed, from tickets to dinner recommendations. I highly recommend seeing Julia and staying at Best Western Bayfront.

« Close, clean, very helpful! »

Close, clean newly renovated room, and check in staff was very helpful and happy. There is parking right in front of your room for an extra $10.00 That's a bargain in St Augustine where parking is hard to find and expensive. This hotel is right on the main street and next to the old town. It is located across the street from the fortress and the Old City Trolley stops right outside this hotel! the pool was refreshingly clean and nice.

« Excellent location for a great St Augustine visit »

The Best Western Bayfront Inn is a great place to stay when taking friends and family on mini-vacations and road trips. The facility is older but the adjoining rooms we stayed in had been recently refurbished, the bathrooms remodeled and freshly painted. We overnighted when TS Hermine blew through Florida and our first night was eerily quiet - we did manage our planned Haunted Pub Crawl but by the time we reached out last stop the pub had closed in preparation for the worst of the storm. Our guide was able to get the manager to open up and let us complete the tour. The Best Western night staff were helpful in setting us up with late night pizza delivery from the only business still open, and the next day, after we decided we needed more time to continue our St Augustine tour, they were extremely helpful to book both rooms for another night without having to move rooms. Overall, a very good deal in the perfect location for a St Augustine visit.

« Nice hotel for a nice price »

I was very pleased with the hotel for the price. It was very conveniently located. They were closing it for renovations after I left. The only complaint I has was about the parking. During the week is fine, but on the weekend it is very hard to park. They do have a lot attendant, but I had to track him down and ask for help.

    « excellent »

We stayed there last year and again this year and plan on staying there again next year. Great hotel in a great location. Would tell all our friends to stay there. We had a wonderful time staying there and even enjoyed the pool.

    « Fantastic »

This was a fantastic hotel, we chose to stay here after running from a roach motel just outside of town (see Howard Johnson review). The lady on check in was lovely and friendly, the rooms were fantastic and the overall condition and location of the hotel was A+. Even 10 dollars for a days parking was cheaper than most places in the centre of town. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone.

    4
    « Great Location »

I primarily picked this hotel because of the location. It was close to many of the attractions we would be visiting. Don't be turned off by the size, it appears small but it has a lot to offer. One of my favorite spots was the patio area which was located upstairs overlooking the bay. We would have a drink before heading out to dinner, and one night we came back and had an after dinner drinking while admiring the sunset. Parking can be a little tight if people don't park wisely. Our room was small but very comfortable and very clean. It served it's purpose.

    3
    « Good location »

The location is excellent and within walking distance of many attractions. Parking is very tight. The room was nice enough and clean, but our room was much smaller than I anticipated. The bathroom is also very small. My biggest complaint is that the window air conditioner was extremely loud. Combined with the loud music from the outside band that played nighlty at the bar located directly behind our room, it was nearly impossible to hear the television or get any sleep before midnight. The staff was friendly and courteous.

    5
    « Wonderful location »

We have stayed in this motel quite a few times and have always been pleased with the renovated rooms and service. Easy parking too! They have a nice patio area upstairs overlooking the bay which is a great place to have a drink before or after dinner or both. Very clean.

    3
    « Good small hotel »

An effort has been made to use existing buildings along the waterfront in St. Augustine. This hotel is located in an old building, but the small rooms offer the amenities of a larger hotel. It was clean and comfortable, if somewhat crowded. The location was very good.

    5
« It's all about location and beautiful Views »

We talked to a friend and decide to visit St. Augustine and stay at the Best Western Bay front Inn. The hotel is in a great location to the green shuttle which I recommend purchasing and look at the packages you can get along with the shuttle pass. It runs normally from 7:30 ? 4:30 pm and the hotel is stop 7. The staff was awesome and we were able to check in early. Self parking is $10 which is good due to the limited parking around town. There are a lot of places around the hotel to eat and drink that are within walking distance even after the shuttle stops running. Keep an eye out for the yummy places we ate and drank at. If you're interested in a bay view is sure to book either room 101 or 201. We really enjoyed and will be back again when the weather cools down and would love to be in room 101.

« Great Value, Great Location »

Went to St. Augustine to help move a friend's kid into Flagler College. Wanted to stay within walking distance. Our room was on the first floor. The live music could be heard through the walls, and Peg Leg Peggy above us would be an issue for light sleepers, but it didn't bother us. The room was surprisingly spacious and well updated. The parking is tight, but the staff is there to help maneuver cars and there was never an issue. Overall, great location close to everything downtown. Definitely will stay again without kids so we can enjoy more of the nightlife.

    « Location, Location, Location »

Things I like about this hotel...the location it's within walking distance to everything and is a green trolley stop. If you have a green trolley ticket you'll never need your car. You can take the trolly to every major attraction and it also has a free beach shuttle. Now on to what I don't like... The beds are hard as rocks, the bathroom is really small and there is no space to change so if you are with other people it's not convenient. Also there is a bar next to the hotel that's open late and you can hear the people so if noise bothers you this is not the room for you. The shower head is really bad takes forever to rinse off under it. And the shower curtain doesn't close all the way so the small bathroom gets soaked. Hope this helps you make a decision.

This hotel is in the best spot in St Augustine! Once you park your car there, you don't move it....use the trolley to get around. Rooms are on the smaller side, but you only sleep and shower there! Best location!

    « Pretty good! »

Clean great location and cold a/c. Can be a little loud if you get a ground floor corner. A small price to pay for this location. Bathroom is small but clean and water is hot. Once you park your car you won't need to drive it again unless you want to go to the ocean side. It faces the bay for great sunrises and excellent jogging!

« Good middle of the road choice »

As others have said, what marks out this hotel more than anything else is its location. The rooms are smaller than average, but the bed was comfortable and everything felt really clean. The welcome from staff was excellent, including help in parking the car in the very cramped car park. The shower was disappointing. A kind of pod affair, like you find in a budget hotel. Coffee was available in the morning, but I chose to get a proper caffeine fix from the coffee shack round the corner. There's only so much brewed watery hotel coffee a man can drink.

« In the heart of all the action »

I came to St. Augustine on business about a month ago, but I brought my family to give them a mini vacay while I was working. We live in a small surf town and we don't have a lot here we haven't already explored so it's really fun to get out and get a taste of different culture. St. Augustine has so much to offer from museums, art galleries, to coffee shops, ghost tours, some amazing restaurants, and street musicians. The old cobblestone streets and interesting architecture are what makes this place so unique. We were really hoping to find a sweet little Bed and Breakfast to stay in but we kind of waited until the last minute and found ourselves eating dinner scrolling through google for hotels for the night. We had walked past the Best Western earlier and it came to mind after we were tired of searching. We drove over and walked into the office only to be greeted by a friendly clerk and in no time we were settled in our room. We had great room amenities (fridge, microwave, fast wifi, cable, blowdryer), super cozy beds, and our bathroom window opened out to the storefronts on the cobblestone streets. We took a late night swim and retired for the night. In the morning we grabbed coffee and explored some more before check out. This is the perfect location and a great family setting to stay when in St. Augustine. SInce that visit we have been back and upon arrival the Front Desk Clerk Aaron made us a fresh pot of coffee and gave us some great restaurant suggestions. I highly recommend this hotel, and this city!

    « Better than ever »

We love this place for the location. It helps that the rooms are clean, the beds are comfy and the staff is great. The young guy who checked us in was a great nighttime employee and was very aware of what was going on on the property. He even walked the grounds thoughout the evening which makes you feel just a bit more safe. Great little spot. You won't regret it.

Nice room over looking the bay.Room were clean and service staff great for asking info on surrounding areas. If I had to give a little squeak, the bath room is very small. Other than that good to go.Right in the middle of the action.Park your car and walk to everything.Bring your sneakers, lot to see.

« Great Location.. Not so great accomodations »

I've thought on this one for two weeks. The location is really really good. You can walk to all of St. Augustine's cultural offerings. Parking is tight but once parked you won't need the car unless you want to visit the beach. The room was average at best. The bathroom was so tiny you had to straddle the toilet to shut the door. The water was really horrible. It's that Florida water that gives you the feeling you aren't washing all the soap off your body. Maybe their treatment system (most other $250+ a night places have them) was not operational when we were there but.....The staff was a bright spot in this property. Very nice and willing to help. Extra star just for them.

« Great hotel to stay in »

I highly recommend Best Western Bayfront. The staff is friendly, rooms are clean and roomy. Parking is a little to be desired but we were never without a parking spot. The location is perfect, you can leave your vehicle and walk all over the historic district.

« Great Service, Great location - Bay front and central to restaurants and attractions »

Our friends and our travel agent recommended the Best Western Bayfront as a good place to stay for our first ever visit to Saint Augustine. They were spot on. The staff was very friendly and helpful The property is in a great location - bay front, diagonally across the street from the fort, across the street from the horse drawn carriages, easy walking distance (2 blocks) to Hypolita and St Georges streets and all of the restaurants and shops. We did not need to use our car the entire stay. There is a parking fee ($10 per day). There is no complimentary breakfast as with most other Best Westerns (coffee is available in the lobby) but as we are platinum members, we were given a coupon for each day that gave each of us $5 off at Mary's restaurant next door. The tour trolley stop was right in front of the hotel. The trolley tickets are $25 per person and good for 3 days; you can buy them at the front desk. The tour has 21 stops (hop on and off) and takes about 90 minutes to complete. There is a nice size pool and towels are provided. There is a very nice bay view patio where guests can sit and have their coffee in the morning or sip cocktails in the evening. We enjoyed our stay and highly recommend this hotel.

Stayed for 3 nights, bathroom is tiny but location can't be beat. Didn't use the car, can walk or take the trolley everywhere. Room was clean, the air conditioner worked well. The staff is especially friendly and helpful.

« Great Spot to Enjoy Historic St. Augustine »

Our first time to stay at BW Bayfront and Julia did a great job helping us book the room while traveling. Aaron was the night manager and did a wonderful job - very accommodating and actually brought a fan to our room at 11 pm. He also assisted in booking a future reservation....Nice classic Florida motel with updated rooms, good parking, very clean and a wonderful pool. We will return........

    « Great location! »

The location can't be beat. We had a handicapped room ground level. It had been remodeled somewhat and was clean. Rooms are small. The last time we stayed there we were on the second level. That room was small too. We arrived in the afternoon and it wouldn't have been worth it to get trolley tickets for a couple of hours. My Husband talked to the gentleman in the office and he gave us a card for Hoppers. A young man came and picked us up in an oversized golf cart and took us to the Fountain of Youth and on a mini tour. We were so happy. In the evening we were able to walk across the street and go for a ride in a horse drawn carriage. Would stay there again.

    « Hidden Gem »

This place may not look like much from the outside, but the rooms are incredible, and you cannot ask for a more attentive and helpful staff. The downtown location is perfect if you're there to see the historical points of interest, or if you want some casual shopping in the exciting St. George Street marketplace. I really can't recommend this place highly enough. We came in expecting average, and were completely floored.

    « Very Disappointed »

From the time we arrived and realized that the phone and microwave were not working we requested maintenance service. We were told repeatedly that it would be fixed. However, from check in Thursday until check out Monday these problems were not addressed. Also, we requested clean towels after my little boy was sick one afternoon. 3 trips to the office and 4 hours later we still did not have clean towels. Fortunately there was 1 towel available out by the pool so I was able to get him cleaned up.

« 4th of July Fireworks View from Room »

My wife and I spent the 4th of July in Saint Augustine, FL and enjoyed our stay. Liked the hard floors and qualify of the room but more was the location of the room. It overlooked the fireworks display at Lions Bridge. Actually this is the only hotel that is right in the center of the fireworks action. Another good feature was the noise of the air conditioner that kept down the music and bar conversation in the bar behind the hotel. Don't know if that was by design but it was a perfect noise buffer. Great location and accommodations near many restaurants and bars.

« Best View of Fire WorksShow »

Although this hotels' location is probably one of the best is St. Augustine it does not justify the room prices, they also charge you to park. Rooms although comfortable are very small, the bathrooms are extremely small. Over all not a bad place to stay.

    « Location, Location, Location!! »

This hotel is immediately next door to the Castillo de San Marcos and overlooks the bay. Sunrise is beautiful and we enjoyed watching the light fade over the sailboats in the harbor! We were just a few steps away from the Castillo as well as the other historic parts of St. Augustine- right in the heart of the action. The rooms are standard for an older hotel, which matched the historic vibe of this city. Very clean, great linens, huge TV. There was a microwave and refrig for convenience. Check-in was easy and the clerk was friendly and accommodating. Breakfast is on-your-own at the small restaurant next door, which was fine with us. The hotel makes maximal use of the space in the parking lot- we were able to park our truck with no problem, but there is a small daily fee (typical for this area and less expensive than had we tried to park elsewhere). We will visit again!

    « Great Location »

This hotel's location in Downtown St Augustine is wonderful..close to everything and lots of sightseeing and restaurants that you can walk to. The front desk a little indifferent..we had to check in early as we had an early flight..we check in at 9..while I did not expect to check in at that time, I had hoped that they would have had housekeeping to our room as soon as the previous guests checked out (which is 11:00)..I called at one and the room was not ready..I saw the housekeeper do the room at 2:30, so we did not check in until 3.....this was their deluxe room and I thought they would give us some consideration. I did not mind that they had to do the room at 11, but knowing that we were in town, should have prompted the housekeeper to get the room done before 3..It was an extremely hot day and we are seniors, so it was difficult to kill 6 hours...next time, I will make an alternate plan and ask that they check our luggage at least....like I said the hotel has a great location. i just found the front desk not the best..also I left a wake up call which we did not receive

« Very clean very pretty very dog-friendly »

The hotel was very pretty and the style went well with the location. The person who prepared ourring left the towels in the shape of a heart on the bed with a little note I thought that was an extremely special thing to do everything was extremely clean no problems with any of the service whatsoever everything worked well also we had our small dog and no one gave us any problems with that everything was very convenient for him. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who is planning on going to st. Augustine especially if you have a pet!

« Old style, meticulously updated »

We are long time local residents and decided to celebrate our anniversary with dinner and hotel in our Ancient City. Even though the BW Bayfront is absolutely perfectly located, we always passed it up because of a very old fashioned look. But SURPRISE SURPRISE, it is wonderfully updated, still reflecting a bygone era, but lacking no comfort. The retro feel is FUN. Very amiable staff, impeccable housekeeping, $10 parking (Hilton Bayfront two doors away charges $22), free served sit down breakfast in a cozy cafe overlooking the bay. Keep in mind, the structure is quite old and sits next to salt water, so in spite of obvious careful maintenance, walls may not be perfectly flat, doors stick a bit, etc. WiFi is unusually strong (we travel extensively) for a hotel. Plumbing fixtures are top quality and ultra modern, a/c at least in our room very quiet and effective. Our conclusion: BW Bayfront if more fun and interesting than the many newer, cookie cutter, everything as expected hotels, and a fun and not boring hotel is part of what makes a great vacation.

We enjoyed our time in St. Augustine and the Best Western was the perfect location for our trip. The hotel was very nice and clean, the bedding was ideal for a perfect night sleep. The staff were professional, friendly, helpful at all times and answered all of our questions. We recommend this hotel to anyone!

« Clean but very tiny »

There are roads on all sides of motel which makes it noisy and the room is very small and bath is tiny. Location is great, staff was excellent, clean but there was no phones and when I asked they said they were upgrading =phones???? I just don't like such small rooms and bath, plus there is a outside bar on street behind them which plays music until late.

« Excellent Location, Beautiful Views of the Bay »

We loved the location, the property was well laid out and well maintained. We had numerous mix ups with the Front Desk before during and after our stay, but the one thing that shocked me was the lack of House Keeping !! Two out of our 3 mornings there, we came back to our room and it had not been made up and we had to call the front desk to get towels. I have never experienced this before. My Daughters room was the same.. no beds made first morning..called front desk for towels. Their second morning the beds were made but they had NO towels, and all of the used ones were gone so no re use was possible. Again calling the front desk for towels. Very curious service. Other than that we were pleased with the Hotel. The Pool area was nice as well

« Great hotel and great service »

We stayed one night and we were very pleased. The room was very nicely renovated although a little on the small side but we knew that from their website. The room was very nicely done very clean and comfortable. The staff was so accommodating they told us about things to see gave us information on the trolleys. We went up on their balcony with a great view and nice breeze off the bay. We were totally satisfied so much so as we are planing a return visit for several days. We would highly recommend this hotel.

This hotel has excellent staff and amazing location! When I return to St. Augustine...I won't be staying anywhere else! The entire staff is ready and waiting for anything you need and are more than happy to do it...the location is central to everything fun in and around downtown and has great connection to all attractions including trolley system!

Staff and Bell hop are extremely helpful at this location. The local shops make this an ideal location to leave your car behind and just walk the smaller streets to experience what the location has to offer.

    « Beautiful setting »

Very nice hotel, we arrived early and a room was made available to us. Front desk staff sorted out our trolley tickets so we could go exploring. Trolley stop right outside hotel. parking is tight but no problems as you don't need the car as all the attractions are walkable or accessible via the trolley ride.

« Seems to be best located best western in town »

Positioned looking to castle and to the rear is the colonial quarter it is ideally positioned for exploring on foot. Rooms are freshly decorated although the taste in furniture and wall colour is a little 80s. Beds are comfortable. Bathrooms are small but functional. Parking on site means you can leave it alone as soon as you arrive as the town is best explored on foot. Staff helpful and no breakfast included but Mary's cafe next door did lovely breakfast.

    5
« Perfect Place for kids »

Clean pool and comfortable beds in a great location. Perfect for the kids with the fort across the way and the trolley stop in front. Good coffee in the lobby and great little diner for breakfast next door. Meehans has the best food in town. Chef Casey does the best curry special there.

    « Guest Sandra LoBue »

Poor Quality of room for the price. Parking was horrible, jammed us in and we couldn't get car out for an evening ride. The air conditioner was behind the bathroom door so we couldn't feel the effects.

    « Very Over Priced »

Close to downtown but very average versus rate charged. Staff not friendly at all. They charged $10.00 to self park, no choice was given for alternative parking. Lot was congested and hard to manipulate car in and out. Back wing is very noisy as there is a bar with music until late directly behind the rooms. One good thing, the music was good.

    « Great location! »

Great view of the bay front from our hotel room. We were in a room facing the bay so we could see the bay and the Bridge of Lions from our window. They also have a patio area where guests can congregate and enjoy the relaxing view. Beds were comfortable and room was clean. No continental breakfast available. Main downside to room was that the bathroom was extremely small. I don't know if they're the same size in all of the rooms but the one in the room we were in was tiny. Front desk staff were very pleasant and helpful. When we went out for the evening, a safety cone was placed in our parking spot to hold it open for us. Trolley stop is right outside so very convenient. Many restaurants and shops within walking distance. Positioned between the Bridge of Lions and the Fort.

« BEAUTIFUL BAY FRONT SETTING IN HISTORIC DOWNTOWN AREA »

The setting of this motel is right across from the bay, and within walking distance of the historic downtown area of St. Augustine. We were in a second floor room at the center of the property, so we had one of the best views in the entire motel.....with chairs placed right outside our door where we could sit and enjoy it. The room was nicely updated with two very comfortable queen beds, dark wood furniture, a small refrigerator, and other standard amenities. The front desk staff was very friendly, helpful, and efficient. Yes, the parking lot is on the tight side, but the front desk clerk came outside and helped us park in our designated spot.....so it really was not a problem. There were a few areas where i think improvements / changes are in order. One is that the motel charges $10 per day for motel guests parking in their lot. I know that quite a few of the other area motels do this, too, but I don't think that makes it okay. I would rather pay a bit more for a room, than to have to pay for my car to stay where I do. My other comments are related to the room. The floors, which appeared to be a wood laminate, were very pretty.....but they were FILTHY dirty. Walking barefoot to the bathroom, the soles of my feet were BLACK....and, no, I am not exaggerating! They really need to be cleaned / mopped between guests, and obviously weren't. Another issue was the air conditioner, while it ran efficiently, it had a horrible musty smell coming out of it. Even spraying cologne in the vents, I could not mask the unpleasant odor.....they definitely needed cleaning / servicing. The floor in the bathtub was extremely slippery when showering, and I almost fell several times.....so I think a grab bar and maybe a non-slip mat would be a big help. Lastly, if you stay here, you might want to be aware that there is a very popular bar located right behind the center back of the property. The noise wasn't really audible in the room, but when we went in the bathroom, it sounded like we were actually in the bar. If you are sensitive to noise, you might want to request a room that is more towards the front of the property (but night right on the very busy bay front street). I am giving the motel a 4 star rating because of the setting, staff, and comfortable beds....which are always at the top of my list! I think most of the problem areas are easy fixes, and, if fixed, could get this motel a 5 star rating.

« Good value among high priced alternatives »

Hotel prices in St. Augustine do not match the quality of the properties available. This Best Western was renovated about two years ago. The staff is excellent. Parking is cozy. No elevator and stairs are narrow. Rooms are clean and quiet. Good value for the relative cost.

    « Location, Location »

This place was perfect for us. Not because it was luxurious or "resortlike" but because it was right downtown. Once there the car didn't need to move again and we were able to walk to everything we wanted to see. As for the positives - besides the location the room was clean. It's an older place so things aren't perfect from a fit & finish standpoint but the issues we noticed were minor. The bathroom was a bit on the tight side but the vanity/sink was separate from the room so two getting ready simultaneously was easier. Everything worked. Hot water, outlets, refrigerator, etc. We had limited encounters with the staff but whenever we did they always smiled and said hello. There is a covered patio near the front that accommodates about 15 people. We enjoyed sitting there in the evening reading and relaxing. The staff As for the negatives - the AC unit was along the back wall. It struggled to keep the front half of the room cool. It kept the bathroom icy but sleeping was a little tough due to it being warmer than we like. We did find a Palmetto Bug (aka roach) one time in the bathroom. It was a onetime experience and we searched for more and did not find any. Let's just hope the guy snuck came in while the bathroom window or front door was left open. Finally there was an issue with noise. There is a bar behind the place and we could hear that late into the night. When I mentioned this to the desk staff they said it gets worse as the weekend approaches. It was bad enough on a Wednesday. Can't imagine a Friday or Saturday. There is no breakfast. This is not normal for a BW. They charge $10 per night for parking. Again, not something your typical BW is known for. I would recommend this BW only because of the location. You pay significantly more and don't get parking or breakfast but you are right in the heart of town. I am a BW loyalty member so I typically always go BW. If you do more research you might find something better. If you do stay here I would suggest getting a room near the front on the north side if possible. This would minimize the noise.

    « Not all that »

Overall the hotel is good but some of the staff needs a refresher in hospitality. They missed several important wake up calls and did not seem to care when I complained. Other than that individual staff member the hotel is good.

    « Unfriendly and Unclean »

Rooms need to be cleaned better. There was mold in the bathrooms, bugs hatching from the lights and one day the bathroom was not cleaned at all by housekeeping except for leaving clean towels. Complaining did not seem to be an option as I gave up after the first day trying to change rooms because of what smelled like bug treatment . Other than one young gentleman on the evening shift and the maintenance and parking attendant the service was just awful and rude. Also, we were treated as second class guests since we had booked through Expedia which I will be sure to let them know as well.

« A fine place to start your exploration of St Augustine. »

They are on the Bayfront right in the historic district. The Trolley tours stop right in front, which is the best way to get a little history and start your tour. Good restaurants and Carriage Tours are right at the front door or right down the street. We spent 3 very interesting days and still want to go back to see more. We'll definitely start at the Best Western Bayfront.

    « Great location but »

The hotel is in a great location but parking is a bit iffy and even more annoying they charge for the privilege. The room was clean but small, we should have chosen a room with 2 queen beds, they looked bigger rooms. Bathroom was small but had everything you needed but no ventilation other than a window that you would have to have open so people in the back street could see you in the room, plus there was a bar that was extremely noisy til late into the night. We stayed because it was convenient and good location and that's what you're paying for. I noticed another reviewe mentioned the breakfast area in reception, we didn't know anything about it. Not mentioned.

« Really old girls getaway »

Small spaces for room...non existing parking space...tiny tiny tiny pool. Having said this... It was a very good place to stay to be smack in the middle of all things olde and quaint. Clean and neat as a pin. Very small rooms... But in this section of the ancient city, expected. Everyone congregates on the top floor portico over looking the bay and bridge in the evening. Some friendlies even brought out several bottles of wonderful San Sebastion wine to share. People from all over the world staying under one roof. As close to a League of Nations cultural experience you will ever experience in Florida... Unless you're at Epcot. Don't shop too much at the Outlet mall...you'll have no where to store it! You can walk every where from here. Good romantic getaway place. Don't forget to eat at O'Steens...you won't be sorry

« Looks great on the outside - Not so clean on the inside! »

We were very disappointed with the cleanliness of our room. We traveled with our small pet dog (who does not shed), so we were put into a pet-friendly room. After walking in and sitting down, we realized that the room's carpet, bedspreads, and soon our clothes were covered with OTHER animals' hair from previous travelers (gross!). Another 20 minutes later, we noticed that the bottoms of our feet were black with dirt - just from walking around the room! We also noticed a smear stain running down a wall, and finally put 2 + 2 together to realize that, while the place looks wonderful and clean on the outside, the rooms are not. Additionally, the bathroom had some annoying issues: a window that was chipping off pieces, and a shower curtain that would not stay closed (definitely a problem!). Pros: Great location in Saint Augustine, wedged between the Fort and the historic streets.

« WYSIWYG and no more! »

What You See Is What You Get. This is a decent motel, in a good location, great staff and well kept. However it has little more to offer. No pool, no restaurant, no bar. It's a real shame because it's a great location, has great staff and the rooms are just fine. But for a decent motel, in a great location at a fair price, it's a reasonable option. Try it, you'll enjoy St Augustine!

    « Great Experience! »

Travelled with my daughter who was in a wedding in St. Augustine and we stayed at the Best Western Bay Front. It was a great location and there was so much to do within walking distance of the hotel, the pool, although small, was very nice. First room we had, a king size bed was overlooking harbor, magnificent view, on 2nd floor, but just outside the room was a sitting area where guests loved to mingle well into the night, so we ended up changing with another wedding member to the 1st floor w/2 queen beds which was better for me since I was on crutches, but the noise from the Irish outside bar was so noisy well after midnight was annoying, although it sounded like they were having a ball! Door to room wouldn't close and no safe in room, very noisy, and bathroom was just so so, and very uncomfortable temperature in room, very hard to get comfortable. There was a manager the night before we left who was very helpful, someone had moved the handicap sign so they could park and he opened up a space for us. Never did find the breakfast area until we left, but it wasn't much. You can't beat the location and it is a very old hotel and we were very satisfied (who wants to spend all your time in a hotel room anyway) especially when in St Augustine which is a fascinating place.

    « front desk »

We arrived in St Augustine on 4/3/16 to celebrate my husbands birthday and upon arrival stopped at Bayfront to inquire about accomadations for the night. We had checked online first and had an idea of price etc. The clerk at the front desk that afternoon was not cordial or accomadating to our needs. She had a very snippy attitude actually. My husband tried to lighten her mood but because of her chilly personality and reluctance to meet our needs we left unhappy. We found the Casablanca Bed and Breakfast to be a better choice. Growing up we travelled a lot (every summer) and I have many good memories of Best Western stays but never again. They have gone downhill on customer service!

    « Great location.... »

For us the location was right in the middle of everything we wanted to do. The room was small but very clean. The bathroom was very small as well, did I mention small. It had one of those small round toilets... guys know what I'm am talking about. The shower was small as well but the shower head would not point straight down because it was a fancy square one. If the shower head were a normal one I would have given another star. We don't normally eat breakfast at the hotel and usually spend very little time in the room except to sleep so the size does not really matter to us. When we go back to St. Augustine we will stay here for sure due to the location. I will bring my own shower head. Staff and service was 5 star. Location and sleep quality was 5 star. Bathroom 1.5 stars

« Long Walk to The Old City »

This is an average hotel. The breakfast area is tiny, so you have to time your meal if you want to try to get a seat. The king-size room was missing a night stand. The breakfast was okay. And the coffee was good at the breakfast bar, but not in the room.

    4
« Nice and convenient place to stay. »

This is an older hotel but they have made improvements to the rooms. The King size bed was very comfortable, room was clean and quiet. Microwave and refrigerator in room. Front desk attendant was friendly and helpful. Walking distance to all the sites, restaurants and shopping. Would stay here again.

    2
« I am surprised that this is a Best Western. »

Great location, but there is a better Best Western three blocks away. The rooms are tiny. The shower is 36X36. Did like the shower head. The phone wasn't connected to anything. We had no channel guide (no notebook). Very limited TV channels. No breakfast. Very tight parking. And it isn't cheap.

    « St. Augustine charmer »

Great staff, great location, easy access to anywhere. The parking was a bit tight, but there was really little need for your car with the various trolley services stopping right outside the hotel. The view of the bay was fantastic, and the fort was a stone's throw (did not even need a cannon) away.

« Great location, horrible layout and construction »

This hotel is located right in the historic district of Saint Augustine. You are very close to a lot of attractions. But there are a lot of drawbacks. The hotel is a horse shoe shape, and the back part is right along the alley next to bars and shops. This would be great if the hotel wasn't built so poorly. We were in the back left corner and could hear the people at the bar across the street clear as day until about 2 am. Then in the morning we were awakened by the street sweeper and what sounded like dumpsters being emptied. In addition to not being soundproof the rooms were so humid because they were not sealed. Even with the air conditioning as low as it would go nothing would dry (towels, bathing suits, etc) The rooms had a pergo like floor, which looked like they didn't clean because if you walked on it with bare feet it turned them black. For the price I would have expected breakfast and a fitness center but it had neither. Wish I had spent the extra money and stayed at the Hilton.

    « Personal »

A great location to stay. Convenient to walk to most places. Overlooks the Bay. Would stay again but would request a room on the sides of the motel. Our room, 117, backed up to the bar behind it and was a little loud. Very clean. Really liked it.

    4
    « Perfect location »

This was a perfect location for our visit. We came with a another couple to enjoy the nightlife of St. Augustine. We stayed in a king room, lower level. We were able to walk everywhere with stops back to the room for drinks. The covered upper deck was nice, it had cushioned furniture and a beautiful view of the water. The beds were very comfortable as well as the pillows. I rated it 4 stars due to the hardwood floors and a musky smell in our room. Our friends room smelled fresh and clean. Not sure if floor was cleaned, my feet were filthy. Take flip flops incase. I did not like walking barefoot on it. It was quiet and I slept well. Room darkening shades were nice. Fridge and microwave was a surprise. I felt it was a bit over priced but it was still cheaper than Casa Monica and we just wanted a clean place to sleep.

« Well priced, modern, and on prime location »

From the moment you enter their parking lot, you're greeted by their very friendly staff. At check in things moved along in a moderate manner. When we arrived into our room, the place looked far better than expected. It was very clean, had laminate wood floors, and a modern high platform bed with a flat screen tv. One thing that many hotels neglect is to provide with usb charging stations- this hotel's got it ;)Our room was pet friendly and we were greeted with two complimentary water bottles and a bag of chips which were waiting to be opened as we started to unpack. The housekeeping staff was great and provided us with anything we needed when we needed it. The reaction time from request to arrival at our room door was within 5 minutes--not something I've seen at a hotel of this category. Janet was great and looked very happy to help us with all the requests ( extra towels, toiletries, etc) since we opted to skip the room cleaning daily because of our dog in the room. The hotel offers a great covered deck where you can bring your drinks and sit and look at the bay, very relaxing and great way to social if and unwind.

« We will be back! »

Absolutely the perfect location. Walked everywhere. We loved it and would definitely stay again! Right on the center of just about everything and right across the street from fort. We were worried about parking...but the hotel had plenty of space available.

    3
    « Fantastic location, hotel OK.....don't take a shower! »

This hotel is located in PRIMO St. Augustine real estate. It is smack dab in the middle of all things good within walking distance. Location, location, location!!! Rooms are very small but clean. Comfey bed. Bathroom is the issue...tiny!!! Showerheads are inappropriate for the tiny (and I mean TINY, not in a bathtub!) shower stalls. They put fancy square showerheads in an incredibly tiny stall. My 6 ft husband found it nearly impossible to shower, and at 5'4" I had difficulty getting my soap off, you can't back away from the strange showerhead or adjust it! A tiny toilet as well. That being said, we would stay here again for the fabu location...would just bring a wrench and a cheap showerhead to replace what's on there....

    « Convenience! »

If you are looking to be in the heart of everything there is to do in Historic St. Augustine, then you could not ask for a better location for the price!! It is clean, staff is caring and although it is old, it has been updated so that it is very comfortable.

    5
« Our stay in St Augustine FL »

This hotel is perfectly situated in the historic district and is across the street from the water. It is also within walking distance of EVERYTHING! You never have to move your car! Shuttle service passes are available at the hotel if needed. This hotel has water views, been updated,( although the bathroom is very small and tight), is very clean and the staff was great and very helpful. We will definitely stay here again while in St Augustine without even looking anywhere else.

    4
    « Great Location »

Could not ask for a better location. Most rooms had a view of the river (ours did not but I think we got the last room available). You could walk everywhere. Wonderful shopping, pubs, restaurants and a breakfast shop right next door. Woild definitely stay here again if in town.

    5
    « family trip »

Stayed here many years ago when my children were small. This trip was to bring grandchildren. The hotel is totally great and within walking distance to everything. Will be back. The fort was right across the street and all of the best historical sites were a few steps away. Awesome restaurants were close enough to walk to also. Took the carriage tour which was also across the street. The view is beautiful across the bay.

    4
    « Great location »

Hotel was a good price and a great location. The room and bathroom was small but it was ok. Beds were a bit lumpy for my taste. The staff was nice. And everything was clean. I would stay there again. Would like an upstairs room that didn't back up to street next time though.

    4
    « Great location »

Considering the location of this property, we felt they provided a reasonable rate. The hotel was walking distance to just about everything, even the Old Jail if you don't mind a mile walk. The room was clean, I don't recall an elevator for 2nd floor guests. I do need to remark that our bathroom was very narrow. Our family of four was okay, but I would imagine it would be very uncomfortable for someone who is bigger. The space was so tight that two of us hit our shoulder on the towel rack while getting up from the toilet. Although the newly installed shower-heads were beautiful, there was little water pressure. Essentially it was okay, because the hot water was endless and we had time to rinse off the soap, shampoo, and conditioner. There was a very humid/mildewy smell coming from the air conditioner, but it was out of the way and we weren't in the room enough for it to really bother us.

    5
« St Augustine Monterey Inn »

We enjoyed our stay at the motel. Get a room in the back - the rooms near the road are noisy. Although it is an old motel - it is very well cared for. Need to consider offering a free breakfast. I feel it is overprice for the age of the motel.

  • 1
    « Don't Stay Here »

The view is beautiful but the hotel is not. The decor is somewhat dated, the service was good but not excellent, but the worst part was the palmetto bug that came from under our bed. It was huge. We called the front desk and she said this is Florida you may as well get used to it. We said not if you have good pest control. They need to take care of the problem. Where there is one there are more that you don't see. If others can control pests so can Best Western Bayfront. They did give us a full refund and we went somewhere else for the night.

    4
    « Great location »

Room was very clean and comfortable. The staff were helpful and professional. The location near the historic district and marina was great! The only negative was the $10 daily charge for guest parking. I would return here without hesitation.

    3
« Shower heads improperly installed »

Place was renovated but we could not take a shower as the head was improperly installed and you cannot move the water spray on you only on the top of your head. They really need to address this issue or will lose repeat business. Location was good.

    5
    « Wonderful »

Room was clean and well presented. Our maid was friendly and helpful. Great location for the historic district. Trolley stops right out front and front desk sells the 3 day pass. Very convenient. Bathroom on the double room is tiny but clean.

    « Noise »

Could not sleep way too much noise from outdoor band behind the motel that went on till 2AM then the people leaving the bar were way too loud in the alley behind the rooms.Nice rooms nice staff nice location to attractions but if you want to sleep at night forget it!

    5
    « Great Location »

The hotel was located next to the bay and close to the old town district. We were there for three nights during the week and didn't have to move our car the entire time we were there. The trolley stops right in front of the hotel and is a convenient way to see the city. It stops and all of the tourist attractions. You can purchase the trolley tickets in the hotel lobby. Great location , nice rooms and a helpful staff. Our room was quiet for having so many motorcycles in town during our stay.

    5
    « great location »

The BW Bayfront is right by the historic area. We could walk to many sights and restaurants. The room was very nice with the best bed we had during our trip. There were also good reading lights by the bed. We enjoyed Saint Augustine and the motel.

    5
    « Best Location »

We were there on a busy weekend, didn't have to move our car. This property backs right up on Historic Downtown and the trolley stops right in front. Great location , nice rooms and a helpful staff. Quiet for being so close to all which was going on.

    « Great Renovations! »

Hotel has been totally renovated and greatly needed to be which makes it a great value and clean place to stay. Great location and great staff. Will stay again, but my rooms phone did not work but I had my cell hone so was no problem. Would have given 5 stars if not for that.

    « charging for parking »

Can't beleve thay charge you to park when you are a paying customer. Thay charged $ 10.65 per day to park. Parking is a challenge in Saint Augustine but to charge your paying customers staying at the hotel is crazy.

« Best Western St Augustine Bayfront »

Hotel is well located within walking distance to everything. The rooms are well-maintained ad comfortable bed. I would definitely return and stay at this hotel. I really enjoyed my stay here. The only issue is that the parking slots are very limited.

    5
    « St Augustine »

This hotel is at the best location in town. Within short walking distance of most attractions and restaurants. The staff is friendly and helpful and rooms are very clean. This is a very affordable hotel and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting St. Augustine. CB

    2
« Nice hotel indifferent staff »

This very ordinary hotel with bathrooms the size of a small closet is overpriced but with a patio deck that overlooks the Bay it has the best location in town. The location is the best this hotel has to offer and it makes up for undersized bathrooms and an indifferent even ornery staff

    3
« Great location but adequate room »

This was a perfect location for experiencing St Augustine. We were able to leave our car parked in the on-site lot and walk to everything. The price was very reasonable. Although the room was clean, the walls are paper thin and we could hear the family next door until well into the night. When the trash trucks came down the back alley at 4 am it sounded like they were in the room with us. Plus the lights in front and behind the room, are so bright you think you forgot to close the curtains. Great room as long as you don't need to sleep.

    5
    « Great Location »

This is our hotel of choice. Right in the middle of all of the places one would like to be with a great view and great people. The rooms are newly done and comfortable. A favorite hotel of ours. They are right on the water and parking is easy and convenient. The pool is tucked away from the crowds. A really nice place to stay.

    « Very enjoyable experience »

I had stayed at this hotel prior to it becoming a Best Western. I was absolutely amazed at the transition. The location along the bayfront in the heart of the city is wonderful. I would recommend this to anyone traveling to the area. My only complaint was that the room telephone didn't work and wasn't repaired during my 2-night stay. (This wasn't a true problem since we had cell phones...just couldn't reach the front desk.)

    4
    « GREAT LOCATION »

Stayed here for two days. Hotel and room was clean. Great location, right next to the Fort and the Lions bridge. Only complaint was you can hear music from a restaurant until two am. Don't plan on sleeping until the music stops. Will definitely be staying there again next time we go back for a visit.

    2
« High Price for 200 Sq ft »

I paid $187/night for a room of no more than $200 sq ft and a bathroom of no more than 20 sq ft. Yes, the hotel was in a superb location and yes the staff was very friendly. This is an old hotel working with room sizes expected in the fifties.

    4
« Great place to stay »

You are across the street from the river and within walking distance to old St. Augustine. The Old Town Trolley stops here and it is a great way to travel around town. They were doing some renovations to the property but did not effect our stay. There is a small diner (Mary's) next door with fantastic food for breakfast and lunch. Frida Taqueria restraint is a block away with great Mexican food. They have an outdoor balcony over the entrance where you can sit and enjoy the river. We stayed in room 202 which was next to the balcony.

« Too expensive for what you received »

Bathroom was so small you could hardly turn around. Had to get out of bathroom to dress. Floors and tiles had lots of mold. Needed painting. No breakfast. Stayed at 4 different Best Westerns on trip. This was the most expensive and the worst. All others were great. Only good thing was the location in the Historic area.

    2
    « Won't stay here again »

The hotel it's self was a good value, right on the water, staff was nice, free wifi, plenty of parking(parking is extra though), rooms were small, but clean, a trolley stop right on the corner but we won't ever return based on the noise. This hotel backs up against Charlotte St. with a night club/ bar right behind our room. This place began to play very loud music early in the evening with the base booming so loud we could sing along with music. It continued and didn't stop until about 2:30 am!!!!! We called the desk at 10 and asked when the music usually stops, they said about 11 or 11:30. We normally don't go to bed until 12 so we said ok. It continued like i said until 2:30. We were on vacation and had plans to get up at 7am, so not sleeping til 2:30 am really was not an optimal scenario. Keep in mind this was a Thursday night, not a weekend night. Thank Jesus we were only staying one night, i would have demanded a refund and taken my business else where if we were staying any longer. I'm not sure if this has been mentioned in other reviews prior to booking this hotel, it was a great price for the location, so i didn't bother reading too deeply into the reviews. BEWARE if you like to sleep, like most humans do, you won't get much here. Our room was ground floor right in the middle of the hotel , directly across from this bar. I don't know if having a room further down the hotel would have made a difference. I doubt it would have considering the amount of noise and it being an older building with thin walls. The base engulfed the room, you could hear it get louder when the door to the bar opened and closed, being able to sing along if i was in the mood (which I wasn't) drunks talking and laughing in the streets. We never called the front desk again, because it was so bad i know there had to be multiple complaints from other guests, and it was so late. we googled what time the bar closed and hunkered for the night praying for a power outage. The only other bad thing is the king bed was as hard as a rock. it startled me when i sat on it at first. once sleeping it was almost ok but it wasn't. We will never stay here again based strictly on this. Which is sad, it has a great view and great location for the price.

    4
    « Loud »

Agree with most recent review. Sooo loud. Coffee/cigar place behind hotel that plays loud music all night! Small. But great location. Nice bath and body products in bathroom. If you dont want a big room and have some type of sound machine to drown out loud horrible music would rec this place. Worth the price we paid. Nothing fancy but all one really needs if they arent looking for luxury.

« Noisiest Hotel I Ever Stayed At Just Avoid It »

Stayed here 4 nights for my sons wedding. First off the parking is a nightmare... Plus they charge you 10.00 a night for the privilege of parking in their tiny overcrowded lot. Let get to the noise factor. They should tell their guests construction is going on. Starts at 8am. Oh and there is an outdoor bar adjacent to the hotel that plays music til 2am and yep you hear that like it's in your room. Plus all the talking, yelling and laughing. It's people having a good time and if that doesn't bother you and you want a front row seat for it then great. But if you want to go to sleep before 2 am forget it. There is an alley directly behind the hotel that trucks make deliveries starting at 6am. So there is a 4 hour window of quiet. I'll never stay here again. Rooms ok, floor is fake wood and was filthy so I used one of their washcloths and water to wash it. Washcloth was black a third of the way through. There is just better places to stay. My son stayed at the Hilton a few doors down and it was pricier but not by much and was 100% better.

    « Don't bring the cat!!! »

This is a motel rather than a hotel. The room was not big enough to swing the proverbial cat. The room was the smallest I have ever stayed in and I have been to Paris! There is very little room for clothes, we had to unpack what we thought we would need for 3 days and leave the rest to crease in the cases. The bath room was equally tiny if the window was open you could see out on to the street which meant anyone passing could see in. The air con was between the 2 mirrors so hair styling was a waste of time. The wooden floor was filthy. The cleaning service was negligible, one day we were missed altogether, the receptionist could not see that this was a problem but on holiday I don't make my own bed. However the location is perfect. Right in the centre with a wonderful view of the sea.

    1
    « Proundly Disappointed »

Hard to believe the good reviews on Trip Advisor! Our two rooms had a view of a wall! There was construction going on all over the place and we had not been notified of that. Parking was horrendous and the hotel should of had someone informing people not to drive into the parking lot, when half way round it was shut off! The bathroom was scruffy and cheaply done. Then we heard the upstairs shower running and it was so loud that it sounded like it was going to shower on us and it did! We had water coming through our ceiling! My Mother had a horrific migraine and now we had to move rooms! I complained to a female manager in the morning and she said that if hotels.com asked her for a refund, then the hotel would pay it. I called hotels.com when I got home and they called the female manager and she refused to give me a refund, as they had moved us out of the wet room! So the manager lied to my face. I would never go back to that hotel, you pay for what you get. I have never had a problem in a hotel before. Profoundly disappointed.

    « Perfect location »

Pros: Excellent location. Just perfect location to go and do any and everything in Saint Augustine! Nice view. Walk just across the street to the bayside for a nice walk. Descent, renovated and clean rooms. Bridgette the housekeeping lady was very nice! If you just want a room to pretty much sleep in then this place is perfect. Cons: If you are going to be in room all day then go somewhere else because there were many things not working properly. AC didn't work properly. Room always damp. Desk did not do anything about the very loud, drunk group of people on the balcony outside our room at very early morning hours. Loud party on other side of property. Parking issues with extra surprise fee. Overall, we were pleased with our stay just not much sleep on the weekends due to loud hotel guests and property located next to the hotel.

« Just OK. (We expected more) »

This is a fairly typical Best Western but has some negatives. Its great location has been ruined by making the courtyard a giant parking lot. There is a surprise fee of $10.00 to park in a space that is hard to find. We must have gotten the worst room. It was right next to the office and was therefore quite noisy (chatter). The room was OK but small. Breakfast was not included, nor was there even a breakfast room/restaurant. Definitely not my favorite in St Augustine (try the Hilton or Casa Blanca) which are almost next door. We stayed here because we collect BW Rewards, but I'll skip this place next time since there are better choices for our needs. The front desk staff were very helpfull

    5
    « Location »

You can't beat the location of this hotel. I will go back just because of this. It is convenient to all the important things and places to see and do in St. Augustine. A trolley stop is outside the front door.

« Great view of bay »

I stayed here 1 night and had a great view of the bay. Great location to everythng in historic St.A. Trolley stop right in front, and tons of restaraunts and bars. Great plaxe to just walk out and walk all around town. Close to everything.

    « Renovation »

While it appeared to be renovated, it was a sloppy job of tile work in the bathroom floor. The closet door was not put on properly. That is the first thing my husband noticed! AND the hinges protrud instead of being set in between the door and the door facing. I do like the wood floors as opposed to carpet. The bed was VERY comfortable and there were plenty of pillows. I found it to be a bit pricey for a nights stay and it would be nice if you stayed more than one night if they would give a discount for that 2nd night.

« Great Location, Nice View, But Not the Greatest Ever! »

This trip was planned months in advance with friends, primarily to see the Christmas lights. Our rate was pretty good considering the location, and we were able to walk to some very good restaurants. The hotel itself had some issues: some phones weren't working, unfinished work on the second story railings, VERY narrow stairs, no elevator that I could find, no vent fan in the bathroom (just a small window) giving the room a humid, musty smell, and $10 extra to park there per day. They do have a second level sitting area that overlooks the bay which can be pleasant if it's not too windy. The Orange Line trollies stop right in front of this hotel and that is really the best way to get around town and learn a great deal about the history of this city. You can probably stay for less farther away from downtown, but parking and traffic might make you wish you hadn't.

    1
    « no sleep »

Loud music till midnight. Phone calls in the middle of the night. $10 surprise parking fee. Very small bathrooms. When I told the front desk about the phone calls the said "Oh Ya, guess we will have to get that fixed" REALLY. There are a lot of places to stay in St. Augustine, you can do a lot better than this one. The only thing it has going for it is location, and they are taking advantage of that.

    4
« Very nice, great location »

Spent the weekend in St Augustine with friends. We reserved rooms in advance which were very nice and clean. Rooms appear to have been recently updated and fit our needs perfectly. Parking is tight but they have a great system of getting everyone in and out. We were on motorcycles and they were very accommodating in getting the bikes parked near our rooms. Of course everything is in walking distance. We loved the time spent and will be back.

« Awesome Visit every year! »

Great Hotel in the middle of everything! Super Awesome staff as well. We stay every year and are always treated great! The view is incredible! Walking distance to dozens of Resturants and attractions. Rooms are not huge but your in Florida! Why would you wanna stay in the room?? Beds sleep awesome as well.

    « Great Location »

We paid $116 per night (Mon-Tues nights). Ordinarily, I'd say that was too expensive for the quality of the hotel. The place is ok but what you are paying for here is the location. And, the location is fantastic. The hotel is right in the downtown old historic district and is convenient to everything. It even has a trolley stop in front of the hotel. Otherwise, the room itself is just average.

    5
    « Can't Beat the Location »

We stayed here for 2 nights shortly before Christmas. We chose this hotel for the location as we wanted to be able to walk everywhere in the historical area (and not worry about finding parking as that can be a nightmare). The location was perfect and exactly what we wanted. The rooms are small but clean. The parking situation here is interesting as it's a very small area however they have it very well organized. We were happy to get parked and not move our vehicle again until we checked out. We will definitely stay here again when in the area.

« great location but noisy »

GREAT location in St. Augustine. We were traveling with our cat so we needed a pet friendly hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the room was nice and clean but if you are a light sleeper, think again. Because of the location of the room the outside noise was very loud and we were on the bottom floor so when the upstairs neighbors got frisky, we felt like we were in on the action. I would recommend a top floor room if possible. Once the town shut down it was quiet and peaceful.

At the last minute, we decided to stop in St. Augustine for one night to see the Festival of Lights. After reading the reviews of the hotel, we were concerned, because I am very picky. The hotel is fine; it was clean and looked like it had been recently refurbished. The location is wonderful; you can walk everywhere. The A/C worked well, and it drowned out any outside noise. The reason I'm giving it 3 stars is because it is a motel, where you drive up to your room. If I could have, I would have given it 3.5 stars.

« Great hotel, perfect location! »

Hotel room was standard. It had everything we needed and was clean. But the best part was the location! Everything was in walking distance and there is a trolley stop right outside of the hotel. We barely used our car while we were there. We would absolutely go back to this hotel!

« Although it is convenient... »

The hotel is old, the rooms are small and look better in the pictures online. The rooms have been "updated" but a lot of the signs of an old hotel are still there, cracks, some mold in the caulk and a slight musty smell. The shower stall is so small, even I at 5'5" felt a little claustrophobic. The bed was a little FIRM and a bit lumpy for my tastes, but my husband was okay with it. We were on the 2nd floor and the outdoor stairway was VERY narrow, and the walkway between the handrail and the hotel wall was so narrow we had to practically walk sideways to get to our door. All that said, the stay wasn't totally bad, the hotel is very convenient to restaurants and all the attractions in St. Augustine and right on the Trolley line.

« Better choice of the Best Westerns. »

Located across the street from the Fort / National Monument. Slightly bigger rooms and much quieter than the Best Western Spanish Quarter Inn (just down the street). The historic area is just two minutes walk and offers 50+ restaurants and hundreds of shops. Great friendly staff, good continental breakfast and free parking.

« Great location, not great stay »

Location is really great. Our room next to a bar it was loud at times but this wasn't too bad. Ac smelled pretty bad (do not use heater!!!), maybe filter had not been changed in a while. Our room was across a utility room on which the door was left open and it look messy. Also boxes and trash were in the hallway between the utility room and our room, i had to cue hotel staff to remove it. when the ac began to smell i went across to the utility room looking for something to spay and saw a foot long rat ??????????. There was a carpet between the beds that was nasty. Also our room phone never worked and i eneded up using my cell phone to call front desk every time. When I spend this kind of money I expect a clean room that smell like flowers and to be pampered by the staff, this was not the case. Oh btw getting inside bathroom is akward because the way the door opens and the size of the bathroom.

    « View was lovely »

I had room 201 it was during the Chrismas Holidays and St.Augustine IS the City of Lights! I had a wonderful time and cant wait to return. The staff was kind and informative. This hotel is steps away from everything all you have to do is park and walk from there.

    « Great Location »

Great location, decent hotel. Staff was there when needed. Parking was tight, and the valet service was there to rule the worst spot to park on the planet. That is not a complaint, but a compliment. If you can get there, you can walk all of Old St Aug. without a worry.

« Huge improvement since refurb. »

What an improvement since the change in ownership !!! Bedrooms are very good - small but well decorated and very clean. Bathrooms are still very small but nothing they could do about that but again well decorated and shower is powerful. New A/C units so nice and efficient and quiet operation. Very good value for money.

« Check out this Beautiful view of the bay right here in town »

We have stayed here 2 years in a row. It is a clean, reasonably priced hotel with breath taken views of the bay right in front of you. It doesn't get any better than this. Once you arrive you can either walk to most attractions and shopping or take the trolly which stops right out front.

    « St Augustine Florida »

The location of the hotel was great as was the area. Our major problem was parking. We paid $10.00 per night for parking (2 nights) and still had a problem finding a space. We had a space to wake up the next morning finding we we blocked in with other vehicles. I would request a refund of our parking money as it was a rip off. There was also the odor in our room and when we questioned the staff we were told no other rooms available so put up with it. No laundry on site plus no other services offered, Will not recommend this hotel to anyone of our friends.

« In the Middle of All the Action! »

If you want to stay in the middle of all the action of historical old St Augustine, then the Best Western Bay Front is the right hotel for you. Also, moderately priced for this location directly across from the old fort and on a Red Trolley Tour Stop. You can park your car here upon arrival and not need it again until the day you leave. Within walking distance of all the top spots along the bay front and Flagler College. Rooms are small but nicely done with quality linens and plenty of free items in the bathroom. Adjoining rooms can be noisy however, as we had a crying young child next door who we could easily hear. No breakfast, but steps from the best restaurants in the downtown area. Also, walking distance to tours and perfect walking/jogging trail across the street along the bay front. Great weekend getaway for couples with hundreds of shops, bars and restaurants within 1 mile.

    « Totally Digusted »

Being super busy at work 24/7, we love to take a few days off to relax and shut off the phones and computer. We thought a few days in St. Augustine over Christmas would be a pleasant change. It's always so pretty there with the lights and quaint, small streets and shops to stroll around in. We like to stay at Best Western, and do so when we travel. They are always clean, have friendly staff and have nice rooms. This hotel was a blemish on the Best Western name. When we got to our room (we were told we had a view of the Bay - great!) our room was right on top of the street. No big deal if the windows had been current and up to date blocking out some of the sound...These windows were broken, old and nasty. The "new thing" for this hotel is to spray the AC filters with an oily, scented solution to make the room smell great (mask the mildew/sulphur according to the front desk person). I have bad asthma and allergies and this made me sick the whole weekend. I asked twice to have the filters removed and replaced with clean,, untreated filters. Never happened. I was miserable and being Christmas - there were no other rooms there or anywhere in the area. The outside of the building looked run down and again, not up to the standards that Best Western hotels that we stay in have. The bathroom was so small, that I had to stand in the shower in order to close the door to use the toilet. They did however prompt me with a piece of paper stapled to my "welcome bag" calling them "Petite Bathroom". If you are taller than 5'8 and more than 160 lbs like my husband,, you weren't fitting in here. Love the area - hated the hotel. I would never stay here nor would I recommend this to anyone else.

« Beautiful view, small room »

The hotel is really all based on atmosphere, the room sizes are small but the view of the bay front makes up for it. If you're looking for somewhere with character it's a steal, also the staff was kind and very helpful. Call ahead though because booking a hotel anywhere is St Augustine during the holidays is a struggle

    2
    « Great Location Only »

The hotel was in a great location fronting the sea and minutes from the historic centre. However the rooms wooden floor left your feet dirty if you walked across it bare footed and the bathroom was exceptionally compact. The room was again extremely small and the bed so high I had difficulty in getting in it. I am a 63 year old but reasonably fit. On one occasion on my three night stay the room was not serviced and I had to be firm with the receptionist to get the job done. Whilst there was no breakfast the adjacent café was great. The rooms had a poor view but the view from the front of hotel was great.

« St. Augustine Christmas Trip »

Excellent location and environment. Many historic attractions and the city is really dressed up for Christmas. The hotel is within walking distance of everything. All the excitement, action, food, history and drinks are around the corner. There are award winning restaurants and many historic sites to visit. My wife and I loved it. This is the perfect time of the year as well as you don't have to deal with the unbearable summer heat.

Visited to see Night Light show and obtained room without first reserving. Desk person very efficient and friendly. Also received welcome goodie bag, which was a happy surprise. Room clean and bed comfortable. Some work appears to be going on around the pool. Had room near office but all was quiet.

    « Adult Weekend Getaway »

We came to town for a retirement party. We originally booked a bed and breakfast through hotels.com, but later learned that the room really wasn't available and the bed and breakfast was overbooked. So, hotels.com helped us find something else that was available and accepted pets. The town was booked solid and this was the only thing available and comparable to the price we were paying for the other room. It is nothing fancy. It's a basic hotel, however, the location is fantastic. The parking is brutal and you are only allowed one car per room. Our room was located on the bottom corner floor up against a busy street. "The Backyard" bar/restaurant was right across from our room and was extremely loud. Luckily for us we were exhausted and the noise didn't keep us awake. All in all we were satisfied with our stay and were very happy our dogs were able to join us.

Every year we go to St Augustine for the City of lights, this Hotel was great we were in walking distance from everything, had a beautiful view of the River. Which was awesome since the Christmas Boat parade was going on as also.

« Good location, bad experience. »

The location was great, clean hotel, manager not very friendly. After our first night stay we ask Debra if it was possible that we be moved to another room because behind our room there was a bar call Stogies that played loud music until 2:00 A.M. in the morning and we could not get any sleep. Debra said she would try to see if she could move us after the 11:00 A.M. check out, then Sid the manager spoke up and said sarcastically there is noise all around the complex from other businesses. He has a very bad attitude and did not need to interject in our conversation with Debra. Aaron and Debra should be commended for a job well done. If I had a employee like Sid he would be moved or demoted immediately.

« Good experience with great location and view. »

Nice room amenities and service was attentive. Parking was tight but available. The proximity to downtown shopping can't be beat. Christmas decorations were a minimal but nice touch. The City lights made up for with their light show.

    « Great location! »

My hubby and I stayed here and had a great time! Nice clean hotel, nice front desk people and great location! We stayed the first night in the suite and as smokers, did not like the idea of having to go down the stairs to smoke. The view was GREAT tho! We requested a room facing the bay on the 2nd floor for the next night. Perfect! Great view and walk out your door to smoke. And you park your car ( in a tiny parking lot!) and leave it.. Walk everywhere around town! Good breakfast right next door too! Will be back!

« Good Location, Manager not so honest »

This is a clean older hotel that has been updated. It's close to all you want to do and access in Old Town. The Trolleys stop right in front of the hotel for pick-up and drop off. You can walk to the Visitors Center easily and the fort is right across the street. Plenty of places to shop and eat are just a couple blocks behind the hotel. It is a safe area to be out at night. The rooms are pretty small, and the bathrooms are tiny at best, but it was clean and comfortable if all you want to do is sleep there. All entrances are to the outside. Not particularly scenic, but the location is great. They do not have breakfast but there is hot coffee in the lobby. There is a nice place to get a hot breakfast to the front and adjacent to the hotel. It appears to be part of the hotel but I do not think it actually is. Parking is a bit of an issue. They charge $10 per day extra to self-park your car in a big lot that is surrounded by the hotel rooms. Trip Advisor does not tell you parking is extra. You have to dig into the hotel's web site to learn this. Although we are seasoned travelers and long time Trip Advisor members, we got there and were surprised at the extra cost. Upon check-out I questioned the charge, and the desk clerk quickly brought out Sid, the manager. I explained that the charge was not displayed as part of the deal on Trip Advisor, which I booked the room through. After some discussion he said he wanted me to be happy, and he said he voided the entire bill. I said I only wanted the parking voided, but he insisted he would void the whole bill because his policy is customers must be happy. I agreed and asked for a zero balance recepit. He said that wasn't possible because the account had been voided. I knew better but accepted his word and we left for home. Two days later the hotel bill including parking showed up on my credit card. I feel Sid was not honest in dealing with me, but I also feel somewhat responsible for not insisting he give me a zero balance recepit. I think this hotel is worth staying at, but just be aware the manager may not be completely honest if you have an issue.

We love staying here when we travel to SA. Can't beat the closeness to everything. You can park the car and walk around the town. We also travel with our dog and its pet friendly!! The shower could have been cleaned a bit better but overall great stay.

« Great location but somewhat dated property »

Stayed here for one night in November. While you can't beat the location (right on the bay in St. Augustine - steps to the water), the property could use updating. The rooms looked older and in need of some new paint, fixtures, etc. We stayed on the first floor, at the far left of the property (closest to the restaurant next door) and during the dinner hour, MAN was it loud! Walls are thin, so be prepared to hear your neighbors and street / car traffic. The window in the bathroom literally looked out into the street and we could see people walking by RIGHT OUTSIDE our window. Again, the location is great, in the heart of the action and right near the water, just be prepared for some of the drawbacks.

    5
« We like it here. »

Rooms were nice and remodeled, however, bathrooms are small. The price was right, and we love the fact that we are right by the historical district and don't have to drive our car after arriving at the motel. They have a nice veranda where you can sit and look over at the water. The staff was friendly. We have stayed here before and will again!

    « DISSAPPOINTED.......Nov. 29th. »

Booked two rooms for one night. Upon arrival, rooms were small, but well appointed, clean and comfortable. First disappointment, no venting in the bathroom and small window would not stay open. The plumbing was very, very noisy. Second disappointment, was wakening up at 11.30pm to find a cockroach wandering across the floor. I tried to call the front desk, but the phone in the room didn't work. I had to dress and go downstairs to reception. Not much the young lady on the desk could do after providing a disinfectant spray, not even bug spray. She did offer to leave a note for the manager who would discount the room. After a sleepless night, when I approached the desk person in the morning, she asked, 'don't you have bugs in the UK ?' How unprofessional and rude. When it was pointed out a discount was offered the previous night, she reluctantly refunded $10.

« Great Location to Stay When in St. Augustine »

The Bayfront Inn Best Western Motel is a great place to stay when you are visiting the old historic city of St. Augustine. It is adjacent to the old city and you can walk right out and you are there!! The Old Fort Castillo de San Marcos is diagonally located right across the street from this well kept motel and the horse and carriage rides line up along the street that the motel sits on which is right along the Matanzas Bay where you can view the boats all our on the bay. The rooms are well kept and the staff is super friendly and can make good recommendations about restaurants and places to visit based on the number of days that you will be staying. When you arrive at the motel, you can park your car and walk to most everything and you can also buy trolley tickets right there at the motel front desk. If you are staying at least three days, buy the three day tickets. It is well worth the price. There is a trolley stop right in front of the Bayfront Inn Best Western motel. Each room has park bench style seating outside the room so that you can sit outside and enjoy the view. There are several porch-like areas on the upper floor where guests can sit together and visit. There are picnic tables in these areas for guests use too. All rooms have plenty of pillows on each bed, free wireless internet, flat panel TVs, and comfortable beds that won't leave you with a backache when you get up each morning. We stayed at the Bayfront Inn Best Western for four nights during the "Nights of Lights" and really enjoyed the convenience of being right there adjacent to the old city. We would walk and visit the sights and shops for several hours and then if we got tired we could easily walk back to our room for a short rest before starting out in another direction. The Bayfront Inn Best Western being right on the bay was also very relaxing because we could walk right our front and cross over and sit along the seawall and watch the boats as they came in. Interesting too was to watch the Bridge of Lions as it would sound its horn to signal that it would be going up to allow a tall boat to come through. We would definitely stay at the Bayfront Inn Best Western again on our next trip to one of our favorite cities in Florida. It is a wonderful clean, well managed place to stay. We appreciated the hospitality that the staff extended to us during out stay. We'll be back soon.

« Location is Everything in St. Augustine »

This hotel is perfectly located to all the main attractions. Additionally there is a trolley stop right outside as well. Just overall convenient to this awesome city. The hotel room was clean with two queen beds and was quiet. There was an air unit in the room that was blowing very cold which made it quite annoying while at the bathroom sink and the actual tub and toilet room were so small that if you were any bigger than a 4'11" female, you might get stuck in there. I think that was my biggest complaint. Otherwise the staff were friendly, the location was great and there is even a good breakfast place next store. All right across from the beautiful water with all the sailboats.

    « Just Eh. »

Location is really the only thing this hotel has going for it, it is about 2-3 blocks from kind street which is nice, and right near the fort if you plan to visit that. Pros: No carpet in the room Cons: Extremely noisy bar with loud live music in the alley about 5 steps behind hotel, if you want to go to sleep before 2am good luck. No breakfast options at all, also charge $10/day just to park your car in the parking lot. Did not think the hotel offered anything to be worth the price they charge!

    « Fantastic Location-Very Nice, Clean Rooms-Great Staff »

Outstanding staff from check-in to check-out. Fast friendly courteous service. The hotel location is ideal for walking and taking in old St. Augustine's attractions. Short walk to the old fort and St. George Street shops and restaurants. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. On the smaller size, but very comfortable. Sit on the upstairs balcony and take in the sights and sounds of old St. Augustine. Will definitely go back to this hotel.

    3
« Basic Place With Interesting Extras »

The good: You wake up and a National Monument is right across the street, the 17th century fort the Spanish built to defend the city. The rooms are clean, and it's your basic Best Western, but that means it'll be less expensive than some places in St. Augustine, particularly on weekdays. Another great thing is Mary's Bay View Cafe, which I guess you could say is the motel's coffee shop. There's a neon sign in the back that says The Mary Show, and it is. The food is super for a motel coffee shop: wonderful omelets, hash browns made in-house, not some previously-frozen grease slab. Service is wonderful and it's great to see everyone interact with each other. The Not-So-Good. Make sure you get a room on the side, because the long back of the building faces a street, and on that street is a bar with very loud live music and patrons whooping it up. The place is so close you could almost swipe a drink off of one of the tables. And did I mention it's loud?

    « Location. Location. Location. »

Not the best but it's close to all u want to do in old town and the trolley stops right in front of the hotel. Rooms are small but clean and comfortable. Bathroom is tiny and tight. Wifi works well. Staff very helpful and friendly. No free breakfast but a good place w cheap eats is basically attached. U have to pay to park which seems a bit odd for Best Western but overall cost is good for the location to old town. We stayed two nights three days and didn't use our car, between the trolley and walking. If u want lots of beach time u may want to stay out on the beach. If u want to soak up the history this is the place to stay. Can't beat the location for the price.

« Rip off prices and Noisy »

Won't be back. Rip off pricing for weekends (Friday - Sunday), additional upcharges for holidays. They also charge $10 a day to park, and charge additional tax for that! Free WiFI that's slow as a dog. In room TV was not even HD; reception was poor/fuzzy, with no decent selection of channels. Last but not least, there's a cigar bar located behind the units. If you like loud music and yelling from people hanging around after the bar closes, then come on in! All in all, a horrible experience.

« Best place to stay in St. Augustine »

My family and I have been staying at this hotel when we visit St. Augustine for many, many years and we have never been disappointed. The location could not be better. Park when you get there and you are in a very short walking distance to everything. The rooms which were recently all completely renovated are amazing. The manager Sid is phenomenal, other than making you feel like you're at home upon your arrival, with his smile and welcoming and professional demeanor, he will also make sure that even the smallest issue that may rarely come up is addressed quickly and to your satisfaction. We have another trip to St. Augustine coming up and one of the main parts of our trip that we are looking forward too is our stay at the Best Western Bayfront!! As a Florida native I highly recommend you stay here too.

« Right on the Bayfront »

    « Still a great place »

This is my second review of this location. The location is outstanding and this is a really great place. i do however have a word of warning. Our last stay we ended up in room 128 (First floor south). The 'good' is the room has the largest bathroom we have seen there. The bad is it is loud...especially around closing time at Meehan's. The bathroom window for the room overlooks the bar and the joyous Meehan customers that happen to be staying in the hotel walk right past room 128 and those near it. As a matter of fact one happy young lady was banging on a nearby door yelling 'security!' I would have been mad if it wasn't so funny. So again... I still like the hotel, but the south east side first floor rooms can be pretty loud.

    « Location, Location »

« Our own Private Abode... »

If you can stay in the suite located just above their main office you won't regret it. Compares to any of the amazing B&B's, hotels in the Historic area. This suite faces the waterfront and the Castle to the side of the hotel as it has two windows. Since, you have to enter a private door, then go a flight of stairs to find your room door you would not be disturbed by any noise at all.Their standard rooms are great as well, but this suite was an incredible find!

    « Family mini vacation »

We booked this hotel because of the price and location.Although they definitely need more than one person in the front office, all was good.We ended up leaving my little girl's pillow ( very important to her because it belonged to her grandfather) and Aaron in the front office was so kind and caring about our situation.I mean he really took the time to try to find this lost pillow. He did end up finding it for us!! I firmly believe it's because he truly cared. It's people like that that make you want to go back and stay again, and we will! Thank you Aaron!

« Great location, clean hotel, good price »

This is an excellent location -- within walking distance of everything you'd want to see and do in St. Augustine. The pool is small, but clean and fun. Parking is available. The rooms were clean, and the staff was friendly. For such a prime location, this was very reasonably priced. Would definitely stay here again if I'm back in St. Augustine.

    « Bayfront Inn »

This was very well priced and so nice and clean. Walking distance to almost everything with a great view. The bathroom was a little compact, but very clean and useable. We went for a wedding at the White Room and was able to walk to the wedding without breaking a sweat. Great staff, was always very nice and helpful with everything. There's also a trolly stop right in front of the Bayfront Inn, So convenient. When I go back I will stay here again!

    « Great Location »

Clean and well kept. Rooms probably smaller than normal, but very comfortable. Location is a real draw here as it is facing the bay and is on the edge of the historic district. Walking distance to the fort and Ripley's as well as all the local restaurants.

    « Get's better every time »

We have been visiting this Inn regularly for the past 40 years. For quite a few years it was privately owned but is now part of the Best Western chain. The best thing about this hotel is it's location. You park your car and just enjoy your stay. You can walk to the restoration area only a block away. The tram which will take you on a tour explaining the history of St Augustine will pick you up at the reception area. Restaurants are close and excellent. Your view is the Castillio Santo Domingo, the fort, directly across the street. You can see the inlet and ocean. This hotel was probably built in the 50's but has been completely renovated. The rooms are smallish but have everything you could want ie. WiFi, frig, TV etc. You don't go to St Augustine

    5
« Excellent location, Great price »

This hotel is the best location - directly across from the Fort and walking distance to everything. The hotel looks much better than the pictures with the Spanish style decor. Our room was very nice, clean and comfortable. It had a nice second floor deck facing the water where you could view the fort and entire waterway. Even the bathroom products were like those you see in much more expensive hotels and B&Bs. We were very happy to find such great quality and location for a lot less than the other hotels and B&Bs in the area. I will definitely be recommending this hotel to others.

    4
    « Perfect Location »

Because we arrived in St. Augustine earlier than anticipated, we asked if we could check-in early. There was a room ready, and we were fortunate to get it. While not the quietest room at night, the location and view of the bay made up for it. Unfortunately, there was some miscommunication and our room was not cleaned the first night. When we mentioned it at the desk, we were told that everyone had left and we could pick up our towels, etc. at the office. Be aware that there is a parking fee of $10.00 an evening. While we understand a parking fee, according to the our booking site, it was $7.00. When this was mentioned at the desk, we were told that the site does not check anything with them. I would think a business such as Best Western would be sure that all booking sites were correct. We visit St. Augustine often and have stayed at the other Best Western with no problems. The location cannot be beat, but management could tighten some things up.

    « Worth the Location »

We stayed in August 2015 It was affordable, clean, and a perfect location for the activities we had on our itinerary Situated between the Castillo de San Marcos and the Bridge of Lions on A1A, it's walking distance from Ripley's, St. George St. and the Historic District, Flagler College, The Lightner Museum, A1A Ale Works, and many other St. Augustine must-do's The staff was friendly and courteous. A woman even helped stage a bottle of champagne in our room while we were out as a surprise We would be more than happy to stay there again

« Great place to stay - management needs some customer service skills improved »

Location, location location! I have stayed at this hotel many times, even when it was privately owned before BW. You cannot beat the location to everything in St. Augustine. The staff is helpful and courteous but the front desk manager could use some customer service skills. The Harbor View cafe next door is excellent and convenient for breakfast since the BW does not have any.. Two blocks from St. George street where shopping and history are wonderful. Hotel faces water and a block from the Castille de San Marcos. Trolley is great transportation.
