One of the best hotels I've stayed in. They have hardwood floors so you don't have the smell of carpet as soon as you enter the room. My second stay at this hotel and it's always very clean. The staff is excellent and the food is awesome. The breakfast has great sanitary standards. The utensils are sealed and you get individual containers of drinks.
I was fortunate to have a very updated and new room on the ground floor as I requested. The breakfast was appropriate, and the staff was very considerate. I came down with a migraine and they were very understanding of my circumstance and provided a bag for ice, and extra towels. However, there was no hot tub poor pool. I purposely choose properties with a pool and, most often, in hot tub as well.
Son had a appointment at Stanford. Stay here parking lot was horrible to get into passed it twice, our truck barely fit into the spaces and small our truck was almost hit a few times, room was alright. Bed was absolutely horrible the mattress didnt even fit on the frame. My son almosthit his head on it afew times. The mattress were So hard we did not sleep, bathroom could use a better cleaning job, since the hotel is literally right on the main street you can hear cars all night, curtains didnt close all the way so the light from the gas station was coming through all night. Need more Breakfast options. Do like that they put a menu of the hot food. And never have I had a hotel charge my card before check out unless I do the pay now option when booking. Wouldn't even let me pay with a different card.
I've been staying at the best westerns for 30 years. This is not the quality. I am a custom to the mattress was very uncomfortable and hard. It was bought out by best Western a couple of years ago and it needs to be brought up to the level of best western standards, the parking lot was a nightmare in terms of trying to turn your car without hitting another one. It's not in a good area of town, the bathtub does not have any anti-skid or rubber mat so it's a dangerous when you're trying to get out of the tub and the refrigerator was so tiny and low the ground. It was very difficult to even use. It's not the best western standard.
Stayed here because of the price and reasonable proximity to Stanford. Though nothing really fancy, it was all was clean, comfortable and attractive. The breakfast was varied and ample, though not particularly scrumptious. In the evening there was some noise from the road, but none from the other rooms. This is a small hotel offering more personal attention if needed. Call directly if you are a Stanford patient. Allow extra time due to traffic, but the distance to the medical center was only about 4 miles. For a real treat, book an expensive dinner at the Michelin starred Selby's a block away. No need to get in the car and hassle the hunt for parking. Or, go cheap and shop at what looked to be a nice market across the street.
We picked it for access to the airport and about midway between San Francisco and Silicon Valley. Easy access to the freeways. Several nice dining places within a few minute drive. Fast food and gas are nearby as well as a small store. Staff was very nice. Walk-in shower with the best water of our whole trip. Cooks Seafood a few miles south was very good.
We arrived late to check in, I had called prior to our arrival to ensure that my room would be available upon my arrival and I was told (by gigi) it would be. When I arrived (after 11:00pm) , I was given a room but not the one I had reserved! Needless to say, I was very upset as I was told they did not have any double bed rooms available. HOWEVER, Nelson (the person on duty) was extremely helpful, polite, and attentive, he ended up resolving my issue by giving me 2 rooms for the price of one! His boss (who arrived when we were trying to resolve my issue) did not hesitate to approve the 2 rooms which was very impressive, as most places rather turn you away with a half-ass refund rather than compensate you for their mistake. The next morning, Gigi (who I has called the day prior and told me my room would be available) was very apologetic and explained and showed me where there had been a miscommunication. The fact that the staff recognized their mistake, went out of their way to rectify it and explained where they “messed up”, speaks greatly of the type of people and business this is. THEY WERE GREAT, especially NELSO! In regards to the hotel itself, it was clean, quiet (even tho it is located next to a busy street) and the b-fast was great! The pancake machine was a hit with my family and the bfast area was clean with plenty of food and side options. The only thing that can be improved I would say is the parking area, it is too small. Other than that, this was a great place to stay and I would definitely come back. Great staff, and great customer service.
While the rooms were exceptional with updates throughout, the location of the hotel was not. Consequently I give it an "average" overall rating. Busy supermarket across the street along a very busy, noisy roadway. Parking lot was small and difficult to maneuver car in and out. Front desk and breakfast area were crammed together in a small place. Staff was pleasant and available.
By far the best Best Western that we have stayed at!! The service and staff were very friendly and welcoming. The rooms were very clean and updated and the beds were comfortable. Everything in the room was very easy to use. Will definitely be staying here the next time we are in town.
My husband and I travel to the Stanford area a few times a year for medical appointments. Our regular affordable hotel was no longer in our price range for our most recent visit, so I booked this location instead and we were both pleased with the distance to hospital, the cleanliness & decor of room. My husband partook of the breakfast each morning and we used the internet services for work related items. If this place remains in our price range, we will be returning for future medical visits.
We were very pleased with our stay. All staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean and look to be recently remodeled. We were in town for a procedure at Stanford Endoscopy Suites and this was only a five minute drive away. The one and only slight difficulty was the getting in and out of the parking lot. Luckily the motel wasn't full so we managed ok.
Nice clean room, friendly employees, everything worked out. Breakfast a bit limited and the fitness room is less than minimal. Location required constant Uber but not too bad. Value for the money. I was in town for some meetings in Menlo Park, which was reachable within few minutes of a car ride.
Great value. Very clean. The staff were outstanding. Wifi , parking and breakfast included in the cost. We were sorry that we had only booked for 2 nights, we would gladly have stayed longer. We would most definitely stay in Best Western plus suites again.
Several Hotels in South San Francisco were either sold out or too expensive This place was close enough to South San Fran. in Redwood City - The Staff were very helpful and Friendly and they had a few rooms available and was able to get me in at a moments notice - Thanks !
The amenities looked pretty good but, the room hadn't been cleaned in who knows how long. There were food marks on the desk and floor. The exterior of the toilet was filthy. No bathmat to stand on after showering. Used towel on floor to wipe up water and it turned black. Although renovations had been recently done, there isn't any insulation between floors. I've stayed at a lot of Best Westerns and this one is crap and shouldn't be one. Won't be staying here again!
Kept being told I could speak to the manager about extending to a later check out like 2 or 3pm as long as all the rooms were not booked (I'm a nightshift nurse so I requested a late late checkout to be able to sleep a few more hours before my shift considering I didn't even use the room the first night but had to book it an extra night to be able to sleep that first day). Every day I went to the office to check in to see if I could speak to the manager. He was never there. Was repeatedly told I'd probably be able to get a later check out for half price room (for only 2 additional hours) and all the rooms were not booked. Kept getting told to check back the next morning… final morning came and no, I was denied even though there were 3 available rooms that had not been booked (on a Tuesday… not a busy day). Had to be out at noon, but was woken up at 10:30 by housekeeping even though I was at least permitted the 12pm check out. So I managed only 1.5 hours of sleep before my subsequent 12 hour shift. No apologies, no consideration for a nurse or the need for sleep. Incredibly disappointed. I've stayed at hotels before that we're far more accommodating to nurses and a nightshift schedule and even offered additional discounts. Will not be using best western again.
Excellent 3 star hotel. Recently renovated and big rooms. Despite being near El Camino Real, a busy street, I was not disturbed by noise at night, and I am a light sleeper. They had a good free breakfast that had some hot food - eggs, bacon, sausage, and Starbucks coffee. The hotel staff were professional, friendly, and helpful. The room rate was very reasonable. I will return the next time I'm in town.
was in town for a wedding with family, rooms were not clean (turned my white socks black) bathroom were not clean and the room had a musty order. This was not a best western plus suites experience. no one answering phones at front desk or housekeeping to find out 1 person trying to do 3 jobs. was not happy at all.
There rooms were not all cleaned because the cleaning lady called in sick therefore we were stuck with a second floor room with no elevator. My wife has limited mobility and this made it hard for her to walk up the stairs.
This was a great motel for the price in this area. The walls were thin as is typical of this type of motel, but it was clean and attractively appointed. The bed was comfortable, and it's in a great part of town. Would definitely recommend
PROS: Comfortable bed and pillows. CONS: Unreliable internet. Signal went in and out and even when it was on, the signal was weak and intermittent. The designation "Executive Suites" was misleading considering how poor the wi-fi signal was.
I signed up for Best Western Rewards members $20 Best Western Gift Card for each night after you stay. I stayed here a couple days in August 2021 and I received the gift card, when I went to use it the young lady at the counter asked me to email her the gift card I received in my email. I did and when I called after my stay the person on the phone (I believe it was the manager) told me that I had to print it and hand it to the clerk when I checked in. I explained to him she asked me to email her the gift card he told me I was wrong and that was not acceptable. I explained I did not own a printer and the young lady that checked me in assured me I could email it to her. He argued with me to no end and told me that even though I was a customer I was wrong in this case. I called the main customer service and explained the situation and they said they would be sure that I would get credited for the gift card and it seemed that the gift card was used for the stay. It was never credited to my stay and after almost 2 weeks and 2 follow-up's I have heard nothing back. Quite ridiculous.
We stayed for 5 days. The breakfast area was not really there, just a grab and go. The road noise was minimal but the 2nd floor rooms are a bit noisy if you are on the first floor. Fitness room was closed. Might be better once covid is over!
If your looking for a central place to stay this is your spot. Stores, variety restaurants, gas stations, medical facilities and college all within walking distance or minutes away. The rooms are large, clean and secure. Very reasonable priced for this area. Staff at this hotel are friendly, helpful and professional. When we return this is where we'll be staying.
While the room at this location was large and clean, construction was going on all around me in the facility. The manager was rude, instructing me that I was not to walk through the lobby on the way to my room. I could not rest in the room during the day due to construction noise. The facility did not have enough towels for two days, even though it did not appear that many were staying in the property. Front office staff were extremely polite and helpful (except for property manager).
The room itself was newly remodeled and very nice and clean. The bathroom area looked like it was remodeled a while back but the shower was very large and wonderful. The staff was friendly and helpful.
I found myself needing to find a hotel very late at night and this Best Western provided very kind customer service. When I got to the room I found it newly renovated and clean. The bed was very comfortable. This part of town was very quiet and so was the hotel. I felt safe in this hotel, even arriving late.
I have usually not had any problems and enjoyed the location for my medical appointment at Stanford. This time was horrible got there and checked in unopened food left in room thought nothing of it husband used shower next morning it wasn't clean soap was left from the people before and hair. The coffee pods were not refilled.
Nicely renovated room. I have stayed here way back 3 years ago. I love their new interior, nicely done. Helpful staff as always. There is a grocery nearby and Jack in the box. Room are clean and comfortable.
On our recent college tour of Stanford we stayed at Best Western the night before. Everything was perfect starting with the reservation and check in to the gym (my daughter used, not me). Breakfast was good and it was nice that they had items for my vegan. The hotel room was very clean. I'd highly recommend staying here.
Our stay at the Best Western Executive Suites in Redwood City, California, was marred by the theft of a laptop computer from inside a closed suitcase in a closet in our room while we were out for the day on February 7, 2020. We reported it immediately to the desk clerk that same Friday night. The desk clerk advised us to check back in the morning with the manager, which we did. The manager was unavailable on Saturday morning and we were told the desk clerk had checked with the housekeeper who “had not seen it.” The desk clerk asked us to call on Monday when the manager would be available. But the manager was apparently “dealing with an emergency at another property” on Monday, so not available then. We immediately submitted a police report to Redwood City police, but it was rejected on Tuesday as the motel is located in an unincorporated area of San Mateo County. We also began the lengthy process of securing bank account passwords, credit cards, Apple ID, Amazon, e-mails, Chrome, and other accounts that might expose us to identity theft. Two more calls asking for the manager on Tuesday also failed, as the manager was either in a conference or on another phone call. On Tuesday we also submitted the police report to the San Mateo County sherriff's office, believing time was of the essence. We sent an approved copy of that report to the manager Nicole Jones, who then left a voicemail that she would be would be sending an e-mail follow up to the police report. Five days later, we still have had no e-mail response. Clearly, management of the Redwood City Best Western Plus has an appalling lack of focus on responding in a timely way to incidents where room security has been breached and valuables taken. Management's lack of response should be serious concern, as either the lock on the room door was either inadequate or personnel who had keys are not trustworthy. We are aghast with the lack of any kind of reasonable immediate response from management to address our loss and the security of all rooms and room keys. This is not what we expect from a Best Western property.
My wife and I enjoyed a very restful time at this Best Western during the night of Christmas Eve, following a day of air travel from the the East Coast to California. The room that we stayed in was recently renovated as part of an overall effort to renovate this Best Western and the room had excellent amenities, oroviding us with a great night sleep. The staff at both Check-In and Check-Out were also very helpful in providing assistance with questions, especially regarding finding a dining location that would be open on Christmas eve. We certainly would stay at this facility again based on our experience.
Had a meeting to attend, location was a few mile from our appointment so the location was key, only a 10 min drive to Menlo Park, great rooms, super clean LOVED that there is no carpet! Great Stay, quite, comfy, slept great!
Decent check in and check out with reasonable breakfast options included in price of room. Helpful staff and good cleanliness. Room size and 2 beds option were nice, internet and TV option were also decent
This place by far accommodated My very truly expectations. Please dont hesitated to stop by , place was clean and fresh. Food was also Good if you based around the area Give this place a chance , i think they can lower thete priced
Well this is the basic Best Western that is going through an upgrade the new rooms are very nice. The installation is not perfect in the bathrooms but this is not the Ritz-Carlton. The service is very friendly and the bedrooms have a lot of space and the breakfast is kind of amazing. omelettes and hard boiled eggs and breakfast burritos and breakfast sandwiches and waffles and scones and muffins and bacon and potatoes and the list goes on.
This is a great place to stay for business as its clean, and effective for a convenient, clean, and comfortable stay. For our next stay, I am sure we will give them a 5 star since the gym will be done.
The place is in dire ned of a renovation. The wall paper was from the 1960s and the lighting in the room made everything look yellow and dirty. I didn't feel like the place was clean. The mattress was also SUPER uncomfortable... The hotel really is in the middle of no where. If I didn't have a meeting in Menlo Park I never would have stayed there. They do give you a light breakfast.
We came into town to visit family and love this hotel. It was clean, people were friendly, and a great value. They had some construction going, but gave a nice treat bag and tried to put you as far from noise as possible. Thanks for making our trip a little more special
Hotel was nice; breakfast was very nice with many choices. Location a bit challenging but we didn't experience anything personally. One noisy drunk arguing with girlfriend isn't going to effect my rating.
I was very unimpressed with this BW. They are charging a maximum premium for the rooms, yet they are very dated and worn. Additionally, there is construction happening at the hotel and the location is less than desirable.
For being a BW Plus I felt that was to high a ranking for this property. The rooms were nice but not anything special that one would expect from a higher ranking hotel. The lobby and Breakfast area was very small and you get the average BW breakfast but with less choices. There is no pool or exercise room. Basically I thought I paid way to much for what I got. I never experienced having to be sent down a few blocks to use there pool and exercise equipment. The staff was very nice. Parking poor.
Front desk service was horrible An elderly guest with parkinsons and dementia had to sit the lobby for 2 hours prior to check in because the front desk person could not get the card reader to work. We called corporate and got them involved while waiting and they were no help either. Staff needs serious training here.
This hotel is clean, the staff is friendly, the breakfast is nice and we wanted to LOVE it here, but there were just little quirks. Housekeeper would come every day and there were clean sheets, the room was tidied up, but they just couldn't remember to leave clean towels in spite of us putting our used towels in the tub and leaving clean ones hanging. Parking is VERY tight - be forewarned! Would we stay again? Probably.
Nice location right off El Camino and basically Atherton/Menlo as opposed to Central RWC. The property was under construction so a bit of a mess on the outside, but the rooms inside were nice and big and spacious. Huge and Comfy beds and super fast wifi for a hotel. (It is Silicon Valley!). better than expected breakfast, and SUPER Staff (thanks Luis Garcia!) If you like the best Mexican Food North of the border, than you landed in the right place. The Super Marcado is right across the street. But a short walk to Middlefield and you have some super dining options! Great cycling and running options right outside your door. I will be back!
I submitted a review, not sure where it is. This Best Western in Redwood City is located in a blue collar neighborhood. It is under re/construction, re/model. I was in room 108. Large room, large shower. The sofa needs to be removed as it has an offensive stain. Carpet is ugly, hopefully it will be removed. Andrea is awesome; she helped me book the room, she helped me when I thought I was arriving late, and she greeted me upon my arrival. Taqueria across the street is where I had dinner. Free breakfast was fine. Joseph was awesome; he researched information for me while I was at work. Hopefully Best Western will consider being a good civic neighbor and improve the intersection. Fitness center was closed for construction; however, a fitness center down the road was available for free. Wheelchair accessible for first floor rooms.
This hotel is in the process of being remodeled. My family was fortunate to stay in a recently upgraded room. The room and amenities were great. Nice HOT breakfast and fast internet. Very close to Menlo College and Standford and I would stay there again.
We chose this BW to be close to Stanford. We depend the BW standards to ensure we have a comfortable, safe and clean place to stay. We really think that will be the case at a BW Plus. But what encountered was something far less than this standard. The door to the shower/toilet is notched in order to open and close without hitting the toilet. The sofa had multiple stains. The room had a strange odor. The suite had an odd layout. And the area where the BW is located is sketchy. The electronic door lock did not operate so they had installed a regular key lock and I had a key to enter my room. There were clean linens and hot water and the front desk clerk was very nice. They also offer coffee all day which is nice. When I wrote my review to BW I received the same apology form letter from the management that all other complainants received. As a BW Diamond member, I've stayed in a lot of BWs across the country and fortunately have never encountered such a room even when the property was remodeling. I hope they do indeed improve the property to meet or exceed the standards of a normal BW+
Watch out for room prices per night charged. I booked on the phone and was only told the cost of the first night which I agreed to. The second night had a hike of $90 compared to the first night. I found this out at time of check out. I was not happy. I requested to speak to the manager, who was out of the hotel at the time. I requested a call from him when he returned.... I never got a call back. I stay at Best Westerns when I can and this stay was very disappointing.
I must admit when a hotel says Executive Suites I expected something more 5 star than 3 star. This didn't turn into a negative though. Yes the hotel is more of a motel. However the room I stayed in, although old, was cleaned as best they could until it's time for a refurb. The staff and customer service are excellent. Breakfast is minimal but sufficient, and the food is good. It would have been better if there were more places to eat in the area but that is not their fault. Across the road there is a Chavez supermarket and they make excellent Burritos. Only thing I would say is I wanted to use the laundry. I asked for change at the desk and some soap powder. The girl told me that the machines may be out of order so check first. As it turned out the machines were so out of order they had been taken out. All that was left were pipes and wires out the wall. Can I suggest that management inform their front desk staff when this happens. It did bring a smile to my face though. At the end of the day they provided a comfortable room with excellent customer service which is why I give it 4 stars.
Overall for the price I paid the hotel lacked amenities, slow internet that kept dropping, room wasn't cleaned thoroughly, bad water pressure, and broken heater/cooling knobs. Went for business but would not go back!
It's hard to figure out where to start with this one. Maybe the narrow, ugly front door? Or the unsafe outdoor entrances? Or the , uh, suites they put you in? The suites, as they call them, are nothing more than ratty, old, Howard Johnson leftovers with the most God-awful brown and orange decor ever made. The bathroom fan sounds like a World War II tank rolling down a street, and the, uh, sun lamp, is actually louder. Who needs peace and quiet when you can relax in the warm glow of the broken TV, and the vanity lights (they're on a timer by the way, which is probably a good thing because the "suite" definitely looks better in the dark). Yeesh.
Great personal, very clean and neat place, friendly customer service, they care about your stay Dinning area clean, everything was fresh , great variety of items ti eat in breakfast, i loved their waffles!!!
We were very impressed with this hotel, and it takes a lot for a hotel to impress us. The room was very clean, the staff were genuinely friendly. Their breakfast was great with many choices of breakfast foods. The housekeeping staff even puts towels folded into animals on your bed. All for 107.00 a night. We will definitly be back.
An old and rather outdated facility that is expensive and on a noisy road. No elevator to get to any 2nd floor rooms. Carpet threadbare, dingy and stained. Bath/Shower faucet control difficult to work, bathroom light shuts off unexpectedly when in the shower.
I had to come to Menlo Park for two nights stay for business and one for pleasure to connect with friends. This little hotel was a great find and was comfortable, affordable and very clean. It offers nice amenities for travelers and I would definitely return in the future.
This is my 6th trip to Redwood City CA for business. I have stayed at this BW 3 weeks of the 6. The rooms are clean, the breakfast fast and filling, Carlos was wonderful and made a long week seem shorter with his personal greeting, assistance checking for my rewards number and overall extras. all the while excellent professionalism.
We stayed in a first floor suite. It has a bedroom, bathroom, living room and a kitchenette with a small fridge and a coffeemaker. There is a small fitness center with a treadmill, bicycle and some weight machines. The complimentary breakfast is great with hot eggs, sausage, coffee, juice, yogurt, fresh fruit, etc.
Great hotel and value! The hotel was clean, staff were professional, friendly, and very quick to get check in and out. They also were very helpful in suggestion things to do in the area - of which we were not knowledgeable about. Even printed out a google map with directions for us. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for a great, budget friendly, safe place to stay.
This was a nice hotel. We didn't have any problems with loud noise even though we were near a busy street. They served a good breakfast with eggs, waffles, more than your average free breakfast. Friendly staff and a clean room. Very satisfied.
We checked in late (around 10:30 pm). Staff was very helpful. I had a Best Western gift card and it was not going through. The next morning, I found out that he gave the card to the next staff on shift and she was able to put it through (as promised).
Large, clean room; Good breakfast; Friendly service; Convenient location; Comfortable beds; Furniture and decors in the room appear old; Even though not as new and neat as some of the other BWs I have stayed; this BW is a good value choice for family travel in the expensive S.F. areas.
the location has two busy streets. The staff are really good here though. They really go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable. There's not really much you can do about the noise. maybe ask for ear plugs?
Excellent customer service and stay. We stayed for three nights and our room was very clean, spacious, comfortable, and quiet. It is about 20 minutes south from the airport and a 40-50 minute drive north to San Francisco. Liliana was very helpful and friendly checking us in so late at 12:30 am. The next morning we went for the breakfast and yes the area is tiny but my goodness, they served such nice options and offer trays to take back to your room if seating is unavailable. Along with the usual stuff you see for breakfasts, they serve hot omelettes, potatoes with veggies and sausage, bacon along with delicious croissants and you can make your own waffles. Everyone is so friendly and hard workers. Carlos was excellent whenever we needed something and he even helped us out with express checkout since we were leaving super early at 4 am. They even gave us grab and go bags of snacks since we would not get to have breakfast on checkout day. There is a cute street with fun restaurants and I think a bar on Broadway street, which is about five minutes from the hotel so even though it looks like not much is around the actual hotel area, if you explore a little, Redwood has a nice little historical area nearby.
After I check-in, I'm shocked to see couple wet towels in the bathroom and a wet tissue in the sink. I called the front desk to report the problem and soon they cleaned the towels and room. I'm not sure how management expects customers to pay high amount for dirty rooms and poor customer service. Additionally I stayed in the first floor and heard loud foot steps from the second floor.
On a recent road trip across California with family stayed for 2 nights. Reached late night but could easily find parking, check in was quick , the family room was quite ok though did feel a bit cramped for 4 people . Location on El Camino Real was good with gas station, supermarket, fast food restaurant in the vicinity. All locations in Redwood City, Menlo park, Palo Alto nearby. Found the breakfast place pretty cramped but that too is manageable if you carry it back to your room. For the price paid was quite satisfactory.
Stayed here many times over the past few years. It was usually ok. This time is was not. Got to our room and immediately found the sink not draining. The maid should have found this IF they cleaned. They placed us in another room. The carpets were terrible. The bathroom door had to have a notch cut out of it so it would pass by the toilet to close. The toilet took forever to refill for another flush. Sorry to say we will be looking for anther place to stay in Redwood City.
Hot tub is broken with apparently no plan to fix. Sink was plugged up. No water pressure in the shower. I showed up before it was time to check in and asked to use the bathroom to change into my business clothes. I was told they don't have "public restrooms" and told to go next door to Jack in the Box.
This motel is down the street from Menlo College. The good news is that it is close to the school. However, the location is on the edge of a rundown section of town. We stayed in a suite. It really is too small for anymore than two people. We had three and it was difficult sharing one sink, bathroom and two beds. One bed was a pullout couch which was not comfortable. There was only a thin blanket on the pullout bed. My sister froze all night long. On our last day, the room service forgot to give us towels for the bathroom. Yes, we could have called for some but we had to get to the airport. The breakfast was pretty good. However, the sitting area was pretty small. It only had seating for about four or five people.
I was traveling for apts at Stanford and the clinic I was going to was in Redwood City. They were kind at check in but my room and the location just kept me awake all night feeling unsafe. I left my room at one point with the lights on and came back in and they had all been turned off so it left me with an unsettled feeling that someone had entered the room. The shampoo's and conditioners were open looked used and the soap that was out looked like it had been opened and used. I was worried about how clean the room really was.
This is a hotel of moderate quality. The staff was great and very helpful. The breakfast was substantial, the rooms were quite accessible and comfortable. Also, there were juices, coffee and tea available 24/7. I would have wanted better internet coverage and a larger and more comfortable common area; i.e. couches and more room. Otherwise, a very serviceable stay, easy to get in and out of.
Front desk check in was quick and easy. She was friendly and smiled the entire time. We apologized for getting the floor soaked from playing soccer in the rain. She didn't mind. We asked for extra time to dry their uniforms and later check out.
Staying here for an European feels like motel in a US gangster road movie. First impression of the room is ok. Couch, desk, king bed, fridge. Second looks brings a spot on the couch and a old not well maintained bath room. I would not bring my wife here. Hear traffic from El Camino Real. Chavez supermarket for basic needs across.
Location is not great. We arrived to the parking lot and was wondering if it was safe. By examining the the quality of the cars in the lot, we decided to check it the rooms out. Traveling for business, this is not a 'hotel', 'suite' - it is more of a motel. Breakfast area is small - functional but tiny. There was 4 of us - each with our own rooms. My room had the AM delivery trucks in the area to wake anyone trying to sleep. I was already up (630am) but those that want to sleep in - good luck. One morning I went into the office/bfast area and was confused that the person standing around was the 'staff'. He wore sweats and knitted cap. Seemed a little 'unkept'.
This was not business but no choice for Brother in Stanford Hospital for surgery. They motel gave us the option to stay another night if we needed to stay. Great mexican Grocery store across the street. Had a mexican deli and snacks. Good breakfast in the hotel. Just off the El Camino highway so was quiet.
My wife had surgery at Stanford and I needed a place to stay near the hospital that was both nice and affordable. We got lucky and found this place. The hotel is super clean and the staff is amazing. My departure dates kept changing due to my wife's discharge dates changing. Vanessa at the front desk was very helpful with all the changes in my reservations. I didn't have to worry about where I was staying, I could focus on my wife. The manager Mike and his crew are doing a wonderful job with this hotel. I can't thank them enough for working with me during this week. I would definitely recommend staying at this hotel to anybody. If I'm ever in the area again I WILL be staying here! Thanks again guys! This is a gud hotel to stay for business stays, well maintained by the staff, staffs here are really helpful to guests, location wise it's gud and easily accessible to the downtown..overall a pleasant stay.
excellent stay ! large room with sofa and refrigerator. right off el camino road. easy to get to the highway 101/. the breakfast was the best we have had any where in the usa. scramble eggs , bacon to dye for, sausage , toast, home made waffles, hash browns, donunts muffins, three kinds of juices, milk and coffee.you get my drift. they had 2 ladies on duty making these items . very, very friendly. we can't say anything about the bed as we use egg - crate's on top of it. we will be back !!!
Stayed here during a soccer tournament. The staff was extremely easy about having an early check-in and late check-out to better match our game schedule. The beds were extremely comfortable, and the decor was pleasant. They made good use of the small space they had for their breakfast nook, and the fitness room was nice!
Jose was a wonderful help and very accommodating. We had problems with reservations prior to our stay but he made it amazing. The Jacuzzi is out of date and needs to be updated. The food was decent a variety to meet all needs.
On a busy corner, with lots of people all night long. The black out curtains are placed too far away from the window and my room had 3 windows which let in a lot of light. Two which faced a busy street. My room was also 95 degrees when I checked and took awhile to cool down.
The rooms are small and the lay out not very good. I am not sure what made this executive suites. We had to change the room as their was a west bathing suit in the bathroom, I guess housekeeping was not done. They did have water bottle for us at the front desk when we checked in and cookies. The room has a ref and coffee maker . Breakfast included oatmeal packets , fruit , waffle maker , yogurt , coffee tea etc... There is a grocery store across the street and a nice neighbor to go walking it. The place was pricy for what you get, may just be red wood city. We only stayed one night so it was ok .
Great location. Easy to locate. Good amenities in area for meals and shopping. Easy access to Stanford. Comfortable beds, good breakfast daily, clean rooms. Staff are warm and welcoming and do whatever it takes to make your stay enjoyable. Will definitely stay here again......and again.....
Terrible, old, dated, run down . This is an ancient hotel that does not warrant the Best Western branding. I have relied on Best Western for 60 years and this shattered my confidence in their oversight and branding of independent hotels. This place really needs to be taken off their books. I was desperate to stay as close as possible to Stanford University hospital and ths was the closest place that was not full. NO WONDER. Horrible.
The location of this hotel is not desirable. While Redwood city in general is a nice town there are safe areas for travelers to stay and unsafe areas. This hotel is in an unsafe area. There were police constantly around the place with sirens going all week. There were also people running up and down the breeze way yelling at each other and fighting in the parking lot and across the street. I will never stay at this location again and am asking that it be pulled from the list of options. The room had a musty smell and there were bugs that I never could identify except that they flew and easily squashed. This was the worst stay I have ever had at a Best Western or any hotel. One other note I would, this is not an airport hotel as it is about 25-30 minutes away from SFO without traffic. The only positive was that the staff were quite friendly and nice.
Spotlessly clean room, excellent service at front desk and housekeeping, quiet section of the city, very reasonably priced, near to lots of restaurant options, convenient to San Francisco/South San Francisco.
My family and I needed a hotel for an over night layover in San Francisco. I searched for airport hotels and this was a moderate priced option (as in over $300 for the night) so I felt safe in booking it. The pictures do not adequately provide the viewer with full detail of this motel. This "airport hotel" turned out to be over 20 miles away from the airport and a motel. I am not sure how Best Western can qualify this site as an "executive suite," as I would say it was far from business friendly. There was no easily accessible elevator to carry our luggage up stairs. The bathroom has molded, peeling wallpaper and looked absolutely nothing like the photos online. The "buffet breakfast" was closet sized and held about 8 guests total with minimal food selection. Upon waking in the morning, the street outside was crowded over 30 men soliciting work. They called out to me and my children repeatedly as we loaded our luggage in our car to the airport. I was concerned for our safety in this area. I felt completely misguided in my selection for this stay and would NOT recommend it.
Booked through expedia, and they listed this as a airport hotel... In my opinion that is a strech.. Checked in very late, after midnight, no staff in sight, but he appeared fast, friendly man. Rooms are good, roomy and clean Parking free, and enough space
We were staying at the hotel under sad circumstances: our child was undergoing long term treatment at Lucille Packard. The entire hotel staff became our extended family for six weeks during our stay, and we felt cared for, protected and downright loved. Angie and Vanessa at the front desk were especially wonderful to us, but we can't praise the whole staff at the Best Western enough. We'd recommend this hotel in a heartbeat.
Have stayed at other Hotels in the area and for the money this is a very clean property. The rooms, the parking lot and the lobby all present well. Our room was very clean, could not believe how clean the shower stall and over all bathroom area! It so clean for a hotel I couldn't believe it. I'd stay here again, felt safe not to far from Stanford Hospitals and Pal Alto shopping center. Grocery store across the street was convenient.
As we drove up, we felt like we were in a bad part of town. Neighborhood might not be the best, but the hotel room was clean and comfortable. I actually slept really well even though my sheets were a little scratchy instead of soft. The breakfast was good, but it would be nice to have a little more room to eat. It's very cramped. I loved having both a microwave AND small refrigerator in the room. Very nice when on business. The exercise room was adequate, but the weight machine was broken. Instead of a weight machine, I'd suggest some simple free weights and a bench. All in all, it was better than I thought it would be.
Very courteous staff, free bottled water, cookies and coffee in lobby which is nice and rare. Older facility recently updated with comfortable beds, pillows and comforters. Shower had low pressure and products provided were standard fare but the rooms are furnished with a coffee maker, fridge and microwave (though the fridge never got very cold). Breakfast a small step above a continental with eggs sausage and bacon that we're just ok but good variety of pastries, yogurts, cereal and the like. Yummy Seattle's best coffee always flowing. Barely enough spaces for the number of cars there which was a bit of an issue on one of the days I was there. Free and good wi fi, and cable selection. Tiny hot tub but decent little sauna in a small but adequate gym area. The price point was fairly high but research showed was on par with or a little less than similar hotels in the area. About 5 miles and10-15 minutes from Stanford Medical center and offers a discount for patient families. I was there 5 nights while family was in Stanford Medical Center and it worked well for my needs. I would use again.
The neighborhood is mixed industrial but the Mexican Food across the street was convenient, inexpensive and decent. The double suite was enough to spread out and all I need is quality internet, a meal and a good bed. The hotel has been painted recently and parking lot paved, everything is clean and breakfast had an extensive menu.
It is well located in Silicon Valley. Breakfast is good. Had very good night of sleep. The bed and restroom are keep clean but the room general appearance need a major refresh. It is very convenient to have a market right in front of the hotel.
water temp was dangerously hot. No way should "executive" be a part of this property's name. Not great on the parking, some rooms smell of the Jack in the Box next door. You have to decide between the over perfumed cleaning products used on the room, or the smell of french fries and stoner smoke before opening a window
Good value for location - most other hotels more expensive. Rooms were clean and bright, breakfast was substantial (although not great for vegetarians). We had to move rooms during our stay which was inconvenient. We forgot some of our belongings in the first room (children's toys, mobile phone charger) but these were not subsequently found by cleaning staff....which was odd. There is a supermarket across the road which is handy, and a very nice Japanese restaurant close by.
Didn't get the right keys the first time, had to walk all the way back and get them coded correctly and then walk back. Would not provide a printed receipt and never emailed me one, causing me to have to chase it down, and delay my expense report. I'll go somewhere else next time.
We discovered this hotel late in 2015, and we have stayed there ever since when going to Stanford Hospital Clinics and Hospital. All of the people we have dealt with are extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms have all been clean except for spots (not many) on the carpets. The location from Stanford is not far; the hotel is quiet; and there is a large hispanic grocery across the street if you forget something.
Being from out of town and having surgery at Stanford University Medical Center, I needed to stay in town for two nights. Our request to have a first floor room was taken care of immediately. We often stay at Best Western Inn because they have a solid reputation, clean rooms, fresh smelling, and comfortable. The Best Western Executive Suites in Redwood City did not disappoint. Very solid and comfortable. Complimentary breakfast was great. Very pleased.
For the area the price is ok, especially for the size of the rooms. But our bathroom door had a nice shin-high cut-out so the door would make it by the toilet. And one of the tv remotes didn't work the volume. But the breakfast had good variety and there's a small fitness room with a treadmill, recumbent bike, elliptical, and weight station (and tv, air conditioning, sauna, & hot tub). I would stay there again.
I travel for business. A lot... And this was by far one of the MOST expensive hotel rooms that I have reserved for work, EVER... Unfortunately, it was also one of the worst I've ever stayed in. Not worth it for $100/night, let alone whatever insane price they are charging. Next time I'd prefer to sleep in my rental car...
I have stayed at many Hotels/Motels in the area over the past 1.5 years during a prolonged move. This Best Western quickly became my favorite place to stay due to its 1) cleanliness and well kept property, 2) short and easy drive to Stanford, 3) friendliness of the staff and 4) much lower cost/night than equivalent quality Hotels/Motels in Palo Alto. The manager, Mike, always went out of his way to accommodate any request from me and my family. He was exceptional. I now recommend this Best Western to all my colleagues visiting Stanford.
I thought this was an oddly situated hotel, but the rooms were nicely decorated and the beds comfortable and clean. It was fine for our purposes, which were basicly to land, prepare, sleep, have breakfast and depart.
Family visit to the area and was looking for a decent priced Best Western near our son & daughter-in-law. This one fit the bill and was just a mile away. Spent Friday & Saturday night. Looks like it has recently been remodeled and it was done right.
We only stayed one night due to a birthday. The property was neat and clean. The staff was very pleasant. They answered any questions I had. I read on another review that this was an iffy location. I found that not to be the case. I felt comfortable during the stay. Though next to a major highway (El Camino Ave.), I was not disturbed by any traffic noise. The only criticism I had was the parking. The lot was small but doable. If we had come during peak season, being able to park may have been questionable. This, however, is not the fault of the property owners. I would stay there again.
In town for business - so the location was great - just worried that their would be a lot of noise on a Friday night in a collage town - no issue at all - very clean - comfortable bed. Mike and the entire staff were friendly and helpful - even recommending a great Seafood Restaurant - The Fish Market - We were very happy to find that particular restaurant as we often dined at the one in San Diego - we would stay here again if we found ourselves in Redwood City again -
I was here overnight preparing for early admission to stanford for surgery. Clerk was very helpful. Stanford less than 15 minute drive away. Did not appreciate other guests smoking in corridor outside our room. But over all this is a nice clean friendly Motel.
Carlos was very helpful and friendly and gave us all giant pumpkin cookies, which was an especially welcome treat for the teenage boys traveling with us. The rooms were very nicely furnished and comfortable. The property itself however leaves much to be desired. I don't think it should be rated as a BW plus because it is misleading--typically BW pluses have been more attractive and have some sort of a lobby area.
We always know we will have very comfortable beds, high quality decor and nicer bathrooms. The Plus makes us feel they are rated and earned this distinction. We are often in areas that we do not know, so this Plus gives us a good guide to what we can expect. We have been very satisfied, and found some unusual areas we would not have tried.
Always my first & only choice when visiting my daughter who attends Menlo College. Rooms are always clean, breakfast available, great internet and close to San Francisco and many things to do in the heart of Silicon Valley. Staff is the best and Mike will always make sure your visit is perfect while staying at this facility.
My husband had an early morning appointment at Kaiser Permanente in Redwood City. Rather than fight the morning commute from Pleasanton, we chose to stay nearby the night before. This was a very good choice--nice suite, clean and comfortable, quiet, very good coffee with nice breakfast. The only minus was the too fluffy pillow--I need a flatter one. It would be nice to have an option. But we'll definitely return when we stay in the area.
worse than a motel 6. nothing worked, the room reeked, puke stains on the carpet. room stank so bad it gave me a headache and i couldn't sleep. hvac inpo, wifi inop, bath fan inop, etc. i'm calling my bank card and claiming fraud.
This is basically a motel that has not been renovated in quite some time. I paid close $400/night and while everything was functional it was a run-down motel. I realize it's the Bay Area but this is still way too expensive.
Usually you don't think of Best Western in the same breath as Hilton, Marriott, Hyatt, or Sheraton and the like, but after this stay, we will include them in the mix. We were very pleasantly pleased with the nice reception and wonderful service during our weekend stay in Redwood City. It's much more affordable than the hotels closer to Stanford University but we don't think we compromised that much by staying at this hotel. The building is a little older, but in good maintainance and more importantly, very clean. The bed was comfortable and the room was big. The only complaint is that it can be a bit noisy if you are on the ground floor (ask for the 2nd floor). Also, the plumbing is a bit noisy, but otherwise, a great stay. The daily continental breakfast had nice choices of food and drinks. The drinks are available all day long, too. Plentiful water is supplied at the front desk. The service at the front desk is great. And parking is easy.
We were looking for a possible vacancy and found one here by chance. The room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. This hotel was located near where we had to be the nest day and made it easy for us to get there on time without having to rush.
