Beware! We came to this motel and it looks nothing like the photo! Our room had bodily fluid on the wall, bed had hair on the sheets, pee behind the toilet and noise beyond belief! We tried asking the maid to come in however, not one of them spoke English and could not help. We left the room and on the way to the car the maid was on the balcony and threw the dirty towels and sheets over and they landed on us. I am in a wheelchair and this was disgusting! Went to get breakfast the next morning as it says complimentary breakfast and we were told there is no breakfast. This place is a disaster and I will never return!
My room was clean and exactly what I asked for: ground floor, near exit, close to parking and quiet. A tough list but they got every box. Breakfast was many choices, well attended by staff. Check in and out was quick I'd recommend and will stay again
A great place to stay. Clean and has all the amenities you expect. Pool is 80 degrees all year. Hot Tub, Fitness, bar, restaurant and cigar bar. Breakfast each morning until 10 with many options. Stayed 8 days and everyone was really nice. Easy access to freeway and located perfectly to go to downtown Portland or any of the smaller towns.
Very comfortable room. Large bathroom with large counter top. Well lit with nice LED mirror. Also full length mirror. Large desk workspace. Plenty of electrical/USB outlets. Clean and smell free. Very nice breakfast. 12:00 pm checkout.
When we first checked in reception was extremely friendly when we got to our room We had booked a handicap room The pictures on their website show a fully handicapped accessible shower walking shower this one was only half accessible not what we were expecting When I tried to call reception notice that the phone was unplugged in the room called using my cell phone she offered to bring us a shower chair are offered to switch rooms but the room that they were going to switch us to wouldn't have a view My mom said she just needed a chair to be in the shower After they brought the shower chair we headed out to hang out with friends when we came back that's when we noticed all the issues with the room After they brought the shower chair we headed out to hang out with friends when we came back that's when we noticed all the issues with the room When going to the bathroom notice that the shower chair they gave us was dirty had brown spots all over it from something, Looking up the light fixture had a pile of dust sitting in it looking at the bathroom floor you could tell it had not been scrubbed just mopped over it was dirty looking coming out the room my mom was trying to change the channel of the TV it was the remote was not working it would turn on the TV but would not CHANGE the channels notice one of the light fixtures was off try to turn it on and went to plug it in notice Trash from the previous guest Of Subway rappers want to pick the baby up off the floor notice more trash Try to call reception from my cell phone nobody would pick up how to go up to reception To complain about the room no solution was offered I had to request a room change Before we got into this room I looked it was a lot cleaner but I didn't notice that there were stains in the chair and the leg rest and the AC panel was coming off but it was the fully walking shower when she was looking for rooms to put us in she even mentioned that 1 of the handicapped rooms was dirty and had not been cleaned I kind of wondered if that was all room that they put us in but she said that 1 of the handicapped rooms was already taken one of the rooms was the 1 we were in already and the other 1 was dirty and the 1 that we were getting ready to Transfer into was the only open handicap room we stayed there those are the only issues breakfast was good disappointed in how the manager handled the situation If we originally didn't have any problems with the rooms I would have said we would have stayed here again because of the location good restaurants to meet friends go to the store we were only in town to meet some old friends so it worked out for us but disappointed in the quality of the hotel
Ants rule apparently at this location. Worst experience ever. Staff apparently forgot that diamond select members don't get thanked or free amenities. Not impressed told my room was better than the room I had which I paid 300 dollars more for.
The day staff was rude horrible. There is no ADA Accessibility in the building or on the property whatsoever. The night staff was the only nice thing about this trip. It didn't help that we were displaced at this time due to the wildfires in cherry grove.
A good place to stay with an outdoorpool which is nice in the heated summer. Not many places has an outdoorpool in Portland. The breakfast was good enough with many choices, fresh blueberries was a surprise. Fruits, scrambled eggs, waffles... something for everyone. Doesn´t look much from the road but "on the inside"/garden it is a cosy stay. We had a garden view room and I would recommend it for anyone looking for a cosy stay at this BW.
This has been our go to place in Portland for the last 5 years. Room is spacious and clean. Bar and restraunt are convenient. Breakfast is excellent with all you can eat bacon, sausage and eggs. Plus the waffles. Although the place was sold out, we never felt crowded due to the spacious grounds.
The hotel is old, but quaint. The room was fine, the pool was nice and the breakfast was great. But the check in was a mess, someone else was given keys to my room, and no one would ever answer when I tried to call the front desk. The hotel is also on a steep hill and there are no elevators between any of the floors and there are multiple buildings. I would stay again, but it was definitely not what I expected.
Stayed with the family for a sports tournament. The hotel is conveniently located to restaurants and highways. The attached steakhouse 9900 was fantastic! Our room was clean and comfortable. My kidos loved the pool and the breakfast. I would definitely stay here again.
Unexpected night's stay in Portland due to a vehicle breakdown. My dealership recommended this hotel as it's very close to their location. It is a bit older, you can tell by the design and layout, but it has been restored and well maintained. Our room was spacious and very clean, with a comfy bed and pillows. The grounds are beautiful, with a lovely garden, pond and gazebo. Incredibly relaxing if you have a courtyard view. I will say that if you have someone who has difficulty walking you might want to be as close to the front as possible. With no elevator it was a tough walk up to breakfast (we were without a car, remember). That wasn't a deal breaker, though. I'd consider staying an extra night if we weren't in a hurry to get home.
This place is very serene and has a very tranquil atmosphere friendly staff and gorgeous pool spa and courtyard highly recommend it to anyone visiting in town or passing through lots of grocery and retail stores close by as well as good restaurants
This older property is an excellent value. It has been re-furbished and improved from its last life as a Shilo. Earlier, it had been Nendel's, and the architecture of the 60's era property is interesting to explore, with a gazebo and fountain in addition to the pool. The staff is friendly and efficient, and most importantly, the rooms are clean, quiet and comfortable.
We loved this spot! The property has been renovated and up kept very well. The restaurant had amazing food. We will definitely return again!
We recently experienced a major heat wave, and were looking to go someplace affordable with AC and a pool. We've driven by this Best Western many times but never stayed there. This place has friendly efficient check-in staff, it's clean and well-maintained, easy parking, easy in and out, two restaurant choices, attractive grounds with a gazebo, fountain, swimming, pool, and hot tub. it was very quiet, even though the place was fully booked. The remote to the TV disconnected itself. From the time we called asking for assistance to the time i a maintenance man appeared and re-synced the remote was about 12 minutes! We are really happy we chose this Best Western and definitely will recommend it to out of town guests.
A great value with easy access to highways to get around in Portland. We found easy trip to airport also. The on site restaurant was amazingly good and great menu. Breakfast hours were very reasonable going 7-10am and wide selection of food. Staff were friendly. We did have bit of a mix up at check in that was confusing, but it all worked out. They do have a on site lounge. Rooms were spacious and very comfortable. Well kept grounds and clean. Highly recommended.
What an amazing value! Comfy beds, incredible shower, great breakfast, scenic grounds, and good location. 10/10 will stay here again when visiting family in Portland!
I am a very light sleeper and asked for a quiet room that was the farthest from quiet. Instead of being put on the fountain/courtyard side, I was put RIGHT next to the parking lot with a large truck parked right outside my window, with only a wooden walkway separating the room (people walking on to access their rooms) and the truck. I had people on either side of me and stomping above me. I heard everyone leave starting at 4AM. I had a hallway on one side of my room and the outdoor walkway/parking lot on the other and there were lots of heavy metal doors slamming. The place is confusing to navigate. The map is ridiculously bad and so are the sporadic signs. The outdoor door I couldnt access from the parking lot and had to backtrack and go up the lot in and down the stairs and around with full hands. No TV remote in my room and awkwardly had to wait for the maintenance man to pair the one he later brought with the TV after he picked up and moved my dinner from the only "table" that sits under it. Seemed clean and the staff I did interact with were pleasant enough.
Average hotel. It was perfectly fine for our overnight stay but nothing special. The beds weren't comfortable and the thin sheets weren't warm enough. I was surprised that there were no actual blankets. I don't know that we would stay there again.
The center of the hotel complex (the back of the hotel is on a steep hill from the lobby and street level) has a beautiful fountain, pool and hot tub. Very unique and lovely for a mid priced hotel.Great Beaverton location.
AVOID. The acrid odor probably from an ozone generator is overpowering in this entire building. I can't imagine it is safe. I stayed in Room 256 for one night. Even though I slept with the patio door open all night, I experienced eye, nose and throat irritation, and shortness of breath. I later learned that my friend had the same experience in November 2023 when she stayed in Room 250. She slept with a CPAP machine that filtered the air. She thought it was just a bad room, but now we know it is typical, at least for this wing of the hotel. In Room 250 the hot/cold shower piping was reversed and the toilet seat was broken when my friend stayed there in November. In Room 256 the toilet was loose. Staff acted like I was crazy when I asked a housekeeper and the receptionist about the acrid odor. I overheard a maintenance man commenting about ozone machine problems while checking in. I didn't appreciate what this meant. In addition, the shower handle was broken and the entire toilet juggles in Rm 256. My friend told me the hot/cold was reversed in the shower in Rm 250 and the toilet seat was loose. We both reported these...and the odor…to management. Never again.
Comfortable beds and great breakfast. However, it appears that the plumbing system needs periodic maintenance. Sinks and bathtubs are slow to drain. Room floors are clean but not mopped daily to prevent dust accumulation. On the positive side, the location is favorable for easy freeway access.
This is our second time staying here and once again everything was great. It has lovely grounds overlooking a pond, very zen like. They offer a full buffet breakfast, with lots of options, so it saves us the cost of feeding 5 people. It is well worth the cost!
I stayed for seven nights to be close to St Vincent hospital as my husband was having open heart surgery. The receptionist was very helpful if I needed to stay longer and they are very welcoming to dogs. We live on the coast and I traveled with my dog.The rooms are very clean and it is a nice quiet place to stay. I did eat twice at the 999 bar restaurant and the food was delicious.
This is a large facility that has been remodeled very well. Bar-restaurant is so good, you don't have to get in your car to go out. I wish we could have used the pool and walked around the pond but we ran out of time..
This Best Western location is like a mini resort. It has several guest room buildings and the grounds are set up resort style. There is an outdoor pool, and down a hill is a gazebo & fountain. Around all that are the room buildings. I was shocked when I checked in and saw the bar/restaurant to the side of the lobby. I never go to bars while traveling alone, but I decided to just to experience it and the bartender was really nice, and the food & drinks were great!
The room was great, the beds were very comfortable, and spacious. The grounds were beautiful, especially the fountain and Gazebo. The food at 9900 was exceptional, an Iron Chef winner in 2018! And thank you for making it dog friendly ,clean and easy for all of us!
If you happen to drive by this place, don't let looks deceive you from the main road. This is a great hotel and a decent value, especially with the free parking. I went with a friend for a night and as we were checking in, we were greeted by a women from the restaurant (which is right off the lobby) letting us know they were doing a free wine tasting. What an nice unexpected surprise after we'd been driving about 4.5 hours that day. After we tasted some great wines and had great conversation with them, we stopped in the room to change for the pool. Room was very clean and beds were super comfortable with lots of pillow choices. There was a huge mirror in the bathroom as well as one just outside with a counter (both LED lit). This was great for two of us trying to do makeup and hair at the same time. It was late afternoon when we arrived but still hit the pool for a little bit before dinner. The grounds are very nicely landscaped with lots of trees. Pool was a nice temperature as it had been a super hot day. We decided to eat dinner at the hotel restaurant (they offered 15% off food for hotel guests). Both of us had the burger and I would say it might be the best burger I've ever had. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
Our stay at this Best Western was perfect!! The room was spacious, clean and provided everything we could possibly need while traveling. The breakfast is a super perk and the setting of the hotel was lovely.
The beds were nice and the hotel rooms they were nice and cold just what I like !!! Nicole was the sweetest most helpful employee! Thanks Nicole! She showed me around the hotel and answered every question I had!
Don't let the roadside location fool you, this hotel is clean, well-serviced, and staffed with truly exceptional hospitality-focused staff. At check in we were offered a lovely wine tasting, which included a selection of fresh fruit and cheese, plus a lively and knowledgeable conversation. The rooms feature comfortable beds, good A/C, and upgraded baths with heated LED mirrors. Around the property, there's a feeling like you've stepped back in time to another era.The pool area, surrounded by a grove of beautiful trees and a central fountain, feels miles away from the road and could well be mistaken for a Nordic oasis. The main restaurant offers a retro-steakhouse ambiance and serves nice wines and really good food. What more could a girl ask for?
Everything about this re-modeled, updated motel far surpassed expectations. The property is beautifully landscaped, architecturally unique, clean, comfortable, and quiet. With attentive and cheerful staff, and an exceptionally good value, I wouldn't consider staying anywhere else in this area.
Our family traveled the coast and we stayed here on our last night! Wish we could have stayed here our whole trip! The beds were very comfortable and the room was large so we each had our space! I would definitely stay here again!
It may look like it's not the best hotel but it is in Portland area. Friendly staff, clean hotel and housekeeping actually cleans the room unlike others we had stayed in. The amount of money you spend to pay per day is worth it!
Location is perfect to go to Portland or other cities near by. Room service was great.. breakfast was warm and better than expected. Room was cleaned daily. Hotel is alot nicer than the pictures on the site.
We stayed here 28 days while our house was being fixed. Besides this BW being on the hill and fridge being small, we enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone. There's an attention to detail we found here that you don't find in other hotels. It didn't hurt either that they serve cookies at the front counter. Special shout out to Amy at the front counter :)
I was totally pleased with my room & and the motel. I would highly recommend this motel to other travelers. All areas were very quiet - and the customer service at the front desk & in the Lounge was most professional & personable.
Beautiful landscaping, quiet area, and spacious room. The free breakfast and restaurant menus were very good. Such a treat to find a such a beautiful and comfortable area in the city! The views were great of trees and flowers--very peaceful.
This hotel overall was great. It was very quiet and clean, the staff were friendly. It was very handy to have a lounge in the hotel where you could order food, 15% discount if staying at hotel. We had the nachos and they were good. The bartender/waiter was very friendly and pleasant. It wasn't crowded and I felt covid safe. The breakfast was ok. The usual rubber eggs, however the bacon and coffee was good. There were waffles and other bread products. I would definitely stay here again if in the Portland area
What a nice place, remodeled, quiet, good price, clean and very pleasant people greeting you. The owner has put some nice effort into making this place much better, room was clean and quiet. Great for a on the road overnight stay, only negative would be having some outdoor lights on the stairways in the courtyard (almost fell). The other thing would be to really upgrade the bath towels, need to be newer and more fluffy
The bartender was great on the nights they were open Because of no hot water they were closed the 2nd part of my stay. I had a great Rib Eye there as well. They staff was great until the lady when I was checking out. She was rude and argumentative when I was explaining the challenges with no hot water. She made zero effort to make it right in any way with me. Very disappointed.
First we had a very pleasant greeting and check-in from Danny and Samantha. He was very helpful, he took time to explain one of the doors was not working correctly and gave us an alternate route so we would not have to bother with it. The room was very clean with all the amenities you need. The room overlooked a lovely Japanese style pond with access from the room if you wanted to have a pleasent walk. The price includes a full breakfast so the price is really reasonable! We will definitely stay here again!
Comfortable stay and the staff were friendly. You would think the location is odd due to it being all the car dealerships are in Beaverton but it's safe (I lived in Beaverton in the past so I trusted the area). The room was basic and had everything you need. I liked that there were lots of plugs near the bedsides for all the electronics we have nowadays. Bed was firm so it was just to my liking. Super comfy! The only downside if you have a room facing the main road is traffic can be loud in the morning so if you are a light sleeper then ask for a room on the other side. It didn't bother us as we had the heater fan on the whole time to act as white noise.
Just be aware that this hotel is a huge spread of separate buildings on hilly ground. One must walk outdoors to get anywhere. The buildings are not connected, and are not connected to the main lobby, restaurant building.
We stayed six nights including a weekend. This hotel was spotlessly clean, the staff (Amy and Esther at the front desk; Brenda in housekeeping) were terrific to deal with, and best of all, the room we had (251 at the back of the hotel) was the most quiet room I have every stayed in. Aside from the occasional hum of the little refrigerator, there was no sound at all (and I have excellent hearing). This hotel has a full size tub which was a plus for my wife. Bed was soft but not saggy and not hard. I loved it and slept well. The hotel is 10-15 minutes from east Portland, Beaverton, Tigard and most any place in the greater Portland area we needed to see. No complaints at all, except that we eventually had to leave Portland, say goodbye to family, and go back home. We will be staying at this Best Western again.
Just outside Portland, the location is great for events in the city. It's nothing too glamorous or expensive, but still comfortable and worth every cent. Breakfast is included, but served too early for us to enjoy. Plenty of parking, and it's not too close to the street, so it feels a little safer. There were hard floors in our room, but they seemed like they weren't cleaned very thoroughly. They weren't obviously dirty, but my feet had dust and dirt on them after walking around barefoot.
Older facility. Room was street side so traffic noise. Toilet flushing and A/C both loud. Hall carpet and stair surface most unattractive. Seaff (desk & breakfast) friendly and efficient. Comfortable bed. Good breakfast selections though breakfast area lack ambiance
Nice stay at a nice motel. Breakfast has potential as well, if they would only pay attention. Yesterday they ran out of potatoes by 0730, and never replaced any the whole time I was there. This morning we got there right at opening, and the gravy was cold.....wth! At opening, breakfast should be READY, not cold.
Clean, comfy bed, but very lumpy pillows. Breakfast juice was extremely watery. Hair care stuff is oily and makes the showers very slippery, bring your own! At checkout they tried to charge my card again after charging it at check in & said it was declined (after they tried to double charge it) and i showed them the charge to my account in my mobile bank app.
I am very disappointed in the quality of this hotel. The room was not cleaned. It was missed. When I called to talk to the manager she was not available. I was told she would call back and she did not. I called several times and she was not available. She never returned my call. We could not get access to the internet. It was very poor quality. Every night the remote did not work we had to call the desk to come fix it. He would have to shut down the TV from behind and do a few things to make it work. Also, the balcony door would not open. It was one thing after another. Very disappointed.
First time staying here. Everything we need was within reach. Easy access to 217, eating and great breakfast. We were asked if we wanted quiet room or to be in the center of everything, we ask for quiet and they delivered.
We came here for a staycation, and chose this specific motel because of the outdoor heated pool, and the wonderful, on-site steakhouse. The steakhouse was closed both nights we were there, but the bar serves the same menu and allows minors until 9pm. We ate there both nights and enjoyed wonderful steaks and salmon. The pool is amazing, though there are only two lounge chairs, along with several patio chairs and tables with umbrellas. The free breakfast offers several selections, including scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, potatoes, biscuits and gravy, cold cereal, muffins, bagels, fresh fruit, a waffle making station, and surprisingly good coffee. The shining star for me is the gym! All the equipment is new and high end. I worked out both mornings, and was the only person there. The motel is sort of a maze, and getting to the pool, breakfast area, restaurant and gym took us to a lot of dead ends. The exterior of the motel looks rundown, but the inside is completely renovated and tastefully decorated. When we checked into our room the temperature was set to 60 degrees, and later, after turning the temperature up, it seemed they set the temperature low to camouflage the extreme humidity in the room. I'd stay there again, but in a room on the second floor that's closer to the amenities.
Under new management this location has been completely redone and is friendly and inviting. High quality mattress. Pool and hot tub outdoors were great during the heat wave in Portland. We look forward to our return trips.
Hospitality is so important in hotels and Brandy was welcoming, friendly, and informative. This was a hidden gem on a busy road in Beaverton, but will be our go-to place and we have to keep returning through the end of the year.
Driving up to the property and then walking up stairs to second floor (never found an elevator) I was lukewarm on my hotel choice. Opened the door to room and had a spacious room with a view of the lovely pond/gazebo. Fun to see the mama duck and her 9 babies swimming around the pond over the 2 days. Lots of outlets to plug in devices in the room. Breakfast was fine, lots of options and we were able to eat on the patio overlooking the pool. Staff helpful and pleasant, especially the late night guy when we checked in about 11pm. Location is great for access to freeway, Flower gardens and things to do in Beaverton. Overall a very nice stay for our family for 2 nights.
Great location, restaurant and cigar bar. Friendly staff and very clean. Breakfast was good, pool area was clean, and access off of the highway was very easy. Lots of parking as well. Will definitely be back.
Just love this hotel and will be a return guest. Stayed with my family and dogs a couple of weeks ago. It's just a 10 minute drive into downtown Portland and is a great place to stay. Very clean, friendly staff, welcome cookies :)
Stayed here for my daughter's softball tournament. Beautiful grounds conveniently located freeways are close. Pool & spa were great. Breakfast was pretty good just could've been warmer. Having a nice restaurant & bar on site is definitely a plus. We would stay here again no question!
This property is sprawling. It has separate buildings with a pond and the pool/hot tub in the center. It had a good feel to the place. Our king bed room was large and comfortable. The heat/cooling unit in our room was very quite. What a treat that was. Next time we are in the area we will certainly stay here.
The facility is charming. A pound with a water fountain is in the middle of the buildings. It is tucked in against a hill in a quiet area. Breakfast was good. Staff was pleasant and helpful. I highly recommend you book it. You will not be disappointed.
I stayed at this hotel twice within a week. Both rooms were clean and the beds comfortable. In the first room there was some water on the floor that I stepped in (in socks darn it) The heater is on the loud side, only a problem at night. Lots of choices for breakfast, even hot food.
Very clean, modern room with room to move around. Nice surroundings and close to downtown. Very friendly staff and great breakfast. Loved the fitness center and pool. Will stay here again when we are visiting Portland.
I booked a room with a balcony and water fountain view. The water fountain was so soothing. The balcony connects to a deck which leads to stairs down to the water fountain where you are able to sit next to it. There's beautiful landscape that surrounds the area throughout. Lots of stairs and paths to walk. Staff at the front desk, restaurant, cigar lounge and everywhere were friendly, personable and knowledgeable. A wide selection was served at breakfast. The furnishing was beautiful in the room, lobby, breakfast area. The room was spacious and comfortable. This property is worth the stay. No complaints.
The hotel was clean and the courtyard view was nice. However, the listing says pillow top mattresses. These are very firm mattresses with what was perhaps once a semi plush mattress cover. It is truly a half inch of insubstantial fluff on a very firm mattress. I am staying here after a medical procedure on my back and I am utterly miserable. I called the front desk for a topper or suggestions/help and was told to leave a message for housekeeping. They never called me back. Lifting and driving are prohibited so no chance of changing hotels. In addition the microwave does not work. Parking is on. Hill and did not see any disabled spots. Door threshold to building is raised making entry difficult for those using a rollator/walker.
We really love this location the beds are comphy the staff is very welcoming and always takes great care of us! We are there alot we work for Apollo retail and are regulars at this location. Good food reasonably priced drinks. they have done lots of great remodeling we love every building and the gazebo and pool are great. Clean and friendly location
This property has a great location, nice grounds, plenty of parking and the rooms have recently been remodeled. Rooms are clean and the bathroom/dressing area is nicely arranged. Bed linens were clean and fresh. Beds were comfortable and we slept well. Location is quiet.
The Best Western Portland West Beaverton is located out of Portland proper, but close enough to quickly get wherever you need to go in the greater Portland area. The hotel was recently acquired by Best Western from Shiloh, and has been refurbished nicely. The rooms are large, there is both a pond with a fountain and pool for seasonal usage. Restaurant, breakfast room, and smoking room (!) on the premises. Staff is efficient and very responsive as well and being very nice.
After a very unpleasant extremely late check-in, we were beyond disappointed with the Shilo Inn . We decided to attend the free breakfast the following morning and were greeted by smiling Robin. She was working to make everyone's breakfast enjoyable. She was constantly checking in to see what we needed. She made our experience positive with her friendly smile. She is the only reason I would go back to this hotel. Robin needs to be the one working the front desk. She would make the first impression a positive one!!!!!
Robin was wonderful at breakfast. Her smile and helpfulness really brightened our morning. A 200 word minimum is a stupid requirement for a review. It almost stopped us from leaving this. It was very nice that the hotel offered breakfast and treated the soccer team so well
We stayed at this Shilo Inn overnight while on a road trip. We had stayed there before, so we were looking specifically for it. We found it easily, had no problems checking in, and then had z very good night's sleep. The room was cool. quiet, clean and relaxing. The bed was very comfortable; My wife and I had the best night's sleep We had had in weeks. Breakfast was included. Shilo had restarted it's hot breakfast menu which included waffles, omelets, bacon, sausage, toast and bagels, and it had cold cereal and yogurts, and a few other items. It was all very good. Both the front office staff and the breakfast room staff were very friendly and very attentive. All I'm all, it was a very good experience. We will return.
I had booked a room, and UNBEKNOWNST to me, the hotel website surreptitiously used a 3rd party to make the reservation. It was not declared. I had NO IDEA that it used Reservations.com. Because the temperatures are going to be EXTREME in Portland on the date of my reservation, and I have a dog, it is impossible for me to proceed. I started to call at 4 pm to the hotel to cancel my reservation. The desk clerk kept telling me that I had booked throu Expedia, which I DID NOT. He said of course I could cancel, but he coudln't refund me becuase it was booked through Expedia. I looked at the fine print on my confirmation, and it was through acompany called Reservations.com, which I never heard of and would never use. When I called Reservations.com, they were a corporate blank wall and refused to help me. I called the hotel back and after being on hold for 15 minutes, the desk clerk was just repeating the gibberish that I had booked through Expedia, which I DID NOT. I asked to speak to a manager, and the desk clerk put me on another veyr long hold. Then he said the manager wasn't in his office. I asked him to leave a message for the manager. Instead of asking me my phone number, he said some unresponsive information, and I kept saying, can I just leave a message for the manager, more gibberish. Utterly deplorable customer service. As though he's the only employee who works there. Temperatures are going to be in the 113 range and I have a dog and it just is impossible for me to make it. I treid to cancel within the time frame, but by the time they got done running me around the flagpole it was past the cancellation deadline. Utterly shameful business practice.
When we first got to the room, it seemed clean and tidy. When we were getting ready to leave the following morning, we noticed the toilet was in dire need of cleaning. Let's just say the the top of the bowl and underside of the seat were not cleaned. The coffee maker, a lamp and the TV share a duplex outlet; you get to choose which two appliances you want to use at the same time. Now for the coffee maker....we had to push the start button about 4 times per cup of coffee. The microwave heated just fine. It's only problem was that the turn dial timer did not work. There was no counting down; simply on or off. Hotel Amenities: Bar - Very happy with that :) Free breakfast - A plastic container (a to go box) with a stale bagel, a yogurt, some cream cheese, butter and jelly. Pool - Closed Hot Tub - Closed Restaurant - Closed Free Wi-Fi - Never did connect for more than a couple of minutes at a time. I fully understand some of these are COVID related, but strongly believe they should have been disclosed on the website or somewhere in the booking process. The place is in somewhat of a shambles due to a remodel that's in progress. I would have rated 'average' had the room been clean and all the amenities been available.
