The room smelled of smoke, there was feces in the toilet and the faucet for the sink was broken. We immediately notified the front desk of our concerns and that we wanted to check out. A week later I am still waiting for the refund. We would not recommend staying at this hotel.
Had to switch rooms twice, and because it was prepaid (trusting that BW was a quality brand) had to settle for the least dirty room. Furniture was worn or broken, all the rooms had a musty or cigarette smell. The breakfast is at the diner in front with bad service and bland, undercooked food.
Room felt very dated. There was paint cracked and peeling across from bathroom. Curtains were fairly old looking. Ac was pretty loud as well. The breakfast was given as a voucher to the cafe next door. When I arrived the waitress seemed annoyed when she realized I was from the hotel.
Would not recommend, this hotel was not very clean, I ended up picking nail clippings out of the carpet my first night there. We couldn't get replace coffee provided by housekeepers, they did put out more decaf though. Too pricey for the how dated the hotel is and how poor the housekeeping is provided.
The room was hot when we got there. It took a couple of hours to cool the full room. The beds were stained and dirty looking. There was a musty smell and even a wet dirty towel left hanging in the bathroom.
Friendly staff, clean and comfortable beds. Air conditioner, shower and lighting all worked great. they may not have been the newest, but were well-maintained and good quality. Breakfast was at a restaurant in front of hotel and was delicious. The ladies at restaurant were pleasant and efficient. We would stay here again. I do wish they would not charge for pets; our 2 little girls are no trouble and do no damage.
It was not up to the Best Western standers we are accustomed to. We all were very disappointed on rooms and food issues. Was given a room that was so full of smoke, after noting on the reservation I could not have this type of room. Our second room had a awful mattress and the pullout bed had no extra towels, only for 2 when we had 3 in this room. Pulled out the hide a bed...yep you guess it no bedding on it for the kiddo. So not only did we have to go back to office to get us another room - non smoking- but for towels/bedding for the second room. Yes there were 2 families. We were given a vultures for breakfast for one day but there was special menu that had 3 or 4 choices. The food was ok at best, but you could tell the hotel guest from regulars on how were were all treated. Not just us but everyone that we noticed with the special menu papers. Then we had to go back to get one for the second day. The office staff, no I didn't get his name, was so sweet and truly concerned on my attack from the smoke. I hope they step up and correct these items but I don't think it will happen. The employees were nice but will not return.
Avoid this hotel at all costs. It is not worthy of the Best Western name. The room we were given smelled SO strongly of some kind of cleaning product that it gave my wife asthma and after an hour we had to check out and move to a different hotel. They have refused my refund. I paid for a clean, comfortable room. Not one that smelled like a brothel.
Probably the WORST stay I EVER had and I have been all over the world. Got a total of 2 hours sleep with all the room noise, neighbor noise, water heater and laundry behind the bed, heater sounding like a prop plane, filthy floor, bathroom door didn't close, tv went out, no working phone or clock/radio, room lights were so dim you almost needed a flashlight to see! Stay Away, you have been warned
The stay was ok, our TV only had one channel and we reported it but no one ever came to check it out. I was asked by front desk to unplug the receiver and restart it. I did but it still would not work. Reported again and nothing was done. Great breakfast was nice.
I'm sure this isn't the nicest place in town, but the staff was extremely friendly and for the price it was very nice. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable and quiet. We weren't bothered by noise from any of the other guests which is always nice. Overall, if you're looking for an affordable place to stay this should suit you well.
This is the second time we stayed at this motel after moving to Palestine. The first time we stayed was when we moved here and our experience was decent. For an older hotel the rooms had been updated and it was clean and the rates are reasonable. Our second visit this past week was no so positive. We have 2 service animals that travel with us and the hotel charged us a pet fee. When I told the night desk clerk they were service anImals she replied that it didn't matter, they still charged the fee. I decided to not argue with her and would deal with the daytime staff the next day. My wife went to the front desk the next day and the day time desk clerk was extremely rude and disrespectful to her and again refused to refund the pet fee, even after my wife phoned the corporate office and had them on speaker phone and heard them say that it wasn't allowed. We will never stay there again nor will we refer anyone to this location.
This hotel is *seriously* clean, it was also a quiet and peaceful stay. Housekeepers really go above and beyond. Staff is also helpful and courteous. Definitely recommend staying here over anything else.
My stay at the Best Western Palestine Inn was an overall good experience. The room was clean, had a nice big bed and TV. Everything worked aright and I was able to get a good night's rest as well a good breakfast at the Bird's Egg Cafe next door. The employees were polite and professional. I've stayed at this location many times and will probably be back soon again.
Stay away from this place. Staff was not friendly at check in (appeared to be annoyed) AC did not work so we asked for another room and was told that the hotel was too busy and the AC always had this problem in this room and they would fix it later. I demanded another room and then she said she could not because then they would have to clean another room. We got the room but, she had lied because the hotel was only 25% full when we left the next morning. The sheets were stained, peeling paint in shower, toilet paper holders broke and fell to the floor, shower would not turn on and toilet did not flush correctly. STAY AWAY, THIS SHOULD NOT BE A BEST WESTERN HOTEL
I understand an older property. It's unforgivable for night desk clerk to be rude and unhelpful when its room keys don't work not just once but twice. Particularly bad when old property with outside facing doors. No one wants to walk outside repeatedly to try get a solution and then be abused by lazy staff.
Very helpful staff when I booked in advance by phone, giving us the right room and discount for my veteran (military) spouse and promising a "home-cooked breakfast" included in the price at the motel's on-site restaurant - so welcome in these tough times. In person they were just as helpful and friendly. Thanks!
Everything is ALWAYS awesome! For the last 4-5yrs, have only stayed here. The rooms are always clean, the staff is just awesome, and the on-site diner has the bomb breakfast. I've stayed here many times, on the 3rd owner and got to know all 3 and they're AWESOME as well!
Room was clean, hot water, and quiet. It was a nice stay. I didn't use any amenities, didn't need them. Stay was very nice and professional. I plan to stay here again when I am hunting at Gus Engleng WMA.
This was a nice place to stay. The clerk was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and inviting. The bed was comfortable. We were given a voucher for the restaurant next door, the Bird's Egg Cafe. You had several choices and we liked that as many times you have a hot breakfast at other hotels, but the food is on a steam table and is not always that fresh. It was great to have a freshly cooked meal. Would love to stay here again.
Great Manager at Front Desk. She was training a Young Man and doing a Good job of it.. Both where professional and very personable. If you are Disabled and have a Disabled room the Toilet has good bars and works, but Not the Shower. No way does it come close to a Disabled persons needs. There are no walk or roll in showers. You have to sit sideways with your legs over the side of the tub. The shower head does not move. There is not a lot of Curb Appeal, but Clean Rooms. Located a couple of minutes from Old Town and then a couple more and you are in the Newer part of Town. The Cafe for Breakfast is Welcoming. Everyone from the Owner to Her Staff are Good people. If you are staying over a couple of days, Your Coffee or Tea is on its way to you before you sit down.
The staff were friendly and helpful. I had no idea a free shuttle would pick us up for the Polar Express when I booked. That was a plus. This was an older establishment which was relatively clean but why would the toilet need flushing when I entered the room the first time? Maid service arrived at 8:30 am and I couldn't get to the door fast enough due to a disability so she opened the door with her key . She apologized but my car was parked right outside so why open it? The breakfast was a bit skimpy and I had to order extra bacon. One strip? Really? The place is in decent repair but the repairs are obvious and unsightly. The breakfast cafe is charming, the food is good, but the room needs some updating .. even just a fresh coat of paint and new trim would make this look so much nicer. Again, the staff was exceptional and I appreciate their efforts. If the maid service arrives early, warn guests to put out the do not disturb sign. Lots of noise from my neighbors so I got very little sleep.
This was a unique stay for us three guys. They had a room with 3 Queen beds, we had never seen that before. Clean and friendly staff. Nice complimentary breakfast at the restaurant in front of the hotel. Great for a good night's rest.
this is an older best western and appears to be kept in fairly good condition. some things you would not accept in a new property come natural in a older place as this. overall the room and stay was very comfortable and we would stay again if in the area. the restaurant next door had a wonderful breakfast and service.
This was a bad experience from the start. The girl at the front desk acted like she had been there for at least 12 hours. She wanted me out of there. That in itself would be fine, because I just wanted to get to my room, that is until I got there. First thing I noticed was stickers stuck in the carpet, luckily I still had my shoes on. There was hair in the tub and bed and sheets were stained. I slept on my own blankets. Very Very disappointed and could not believe that this was a Best Western!
This hotel has extremely comfortable beds. Soft but somehow still firm enough. The hotel is a little dated, but if you are looking for a nice quiet place to sleep, it's great. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Free breakfast vouchers are available, however I missed breakfast because the beds are so comfortable!
got there they were nice and polite at check inn was kind of strange that the whole place was rented out except the room i rented that was in the middle so they rented all the way around this room all day and all night when i went in the room noticed towells were brown like something from the vent had been coming in the room for a while and covering the towels the room had three mirrors in it and i could see myself from everywhere i stood in room the walls seem very thin because i could here other people talking what seemed to be in the next rooms the breakfast was good because its at the resturant in front of the hotel.the cleaning people came and banged on the door at 830 am like they were the police or something i called the front desk to ask if that was normal they said yes that they come around about 8 am so dont plan on sleeping in.
Such friendly staff and the house keepers are the best such attention to detail. We will go out of our way to stay here again. It looks like a new hotel great up keep. Beds are firm with the pillow top and very comfortable. The breakfast is provided at the the cute cafe right in the parking lot so easy to get there. Plenty of great parking and your vehicle is safe.
This Best Western is subpar to the Best Westerns I'm used to, but I had to keep telling myself it's located in middle-of-nowhere, TX. It reminded me of the Bates Motel as far as how it looks and how it's located right off a busy road. It's one story and the rooms open to the exterior- definitely more a motel feel. The breakfast is a restaurant located in the parking lot. Be prepared to have to choose from a limited menu and tip.
This Best Western room was very comfortable, and the mattress was one of the best I have slept on in any hotel recently. The check in and out procedures were speedy, and the clerks were friendly, helpful, and professional. It was a very quiet room - I never heard any noise from the outside or from other rooms (no showers running, no toilets flushing, like I hear in other hotels). All in all, a very enjoyable stay. That being said, there are some less-than-perfect conditions. 1. There is no signage at the entrance to show where the driveway is, just a high pole with the BW logo. There are 2 driveways, so be sure and take the one closest to the signpole. Otherwise you will end up in the restaurant parking lot, and there is no access to the hotel lot, so you have to go back onto the highway. 2. The breakfast offering is actually a voucher to a restaurant across the parking lot. I had to get fully dressed to go, then because the restaurant was open to the public, I had to wait about 15 minutes for a table. The food was acceptable (you get a choice of 4 menus, no substitutions. The service less than stellar. 3. Water pressure in the shower leaves a lot to be desired. The showerhead is an adjustable one, but none of the settings provided a lot of pressure and it was difficult to rinse the shampoo out of my hair. Also, the head is at least 6' high so short people may not be able to reach it. The handle to turn on the water and select hot/cold is confusing - you turn it about a quarter turn and the water shuts off. You have to keep turning it, then test the temperature.
We stayed at this hotel 2 nights and had a good experience. Breakfast voucher for next door restaurant was a great perk and better than traditional hotel buffets. The bed was very comfortable as I need a firm mattress. Great location to get to any other activities. Highly recommend this Best Western. Will go back again!
Rooms were updated but still looked old. Room had a bad smell that helped with the door open and ac running but would not completely go away. Needed a deep clean and carpets cleaned. Bath shower area had a mildew smell. Bath exhaust fan did not work well.
I am use to not haveing wheelchair room. but usually the toilets are are a little higher. Doors should be 30" I can deal with a 26" door. The bed was acceptable for my chair. Enjoyed the hot breakfast.
This is an awesome hotel! The manager Rene is awesome and she will do whatever she can to meet your requested accommodations. The breakfast at the Birds Nest is very good. The whole staff is very friendly and helpful as well.
This hotel has many perks to include a staff which genuinely cares about your stay being comfortable and enjoyable. The reservation was timely and proficient. The room was immaculate to include the bathroom. The bed was comfortable and the air conditioning was working very well and quiet. The breakfast facility was spacious and had a warm setting. The check out was expedient and thinking about it made me want to stay another day.
I've stayed at this motel annually for maybe 17 years. This year I noticed it was slipping. The bathroom had something on the inside of the door which I got off with a wash rag and water. The bathroom looked nicely prepared for a new guest when we arrived, but replacement towels were just simply hung and it was had to tell what was new and what was left behind. There was never any Kleenex in the holder. I never knew the rooms walls were so terribly thin. My girl friend and I were talking in normal voices and no TV was on and we got a noise complaint from the front desk. Another friend verified that yes, she had heard conversations before from adjoining rooms. The clerk I dealt with was competent, nice and friendly. The price was very good. I noticed that the arrange of this room was different from what I remembered. The dressing area had no curtains so it is open to the bed room and since it is directly opposite the door, one has to hope the roommate does not return and let everyone see while you are changing. In fact, just change in a corner of the bedroom. The complimentary breakfast at the little café has not changed and was appreciated.
I travel to Palestine a few times a year and this is by far my favorite place to stay. I even stayed for an entire month and it was very comfortable. Everything is clean and staff is very friendly. I look forward to my next trip.
We were only staying for one night so did not expect luxury. We were greeted in the lobby by a clerk who was laying on the couch chatting with another person. The clerk got up and literally hobbled to the desk mumbling something about her kidneys and legs. When I confirmed that there would be a portacrib in the room she vehemently denied that a portacrib was an option. I had to prove to her that it was an available amenity on the website before she contacted someone who brought us a very dirty pack and play which was not in good repair. Very disappointed with this Best Western.
Passing through the area. Easy on off and easy to get to. Staff very friendly. Breakfast offered at restaurant next door. Room was clean had everything we needed. Wifi was fast. A lot of channels available on tv. An older hotel. Would stay again.
This use to be a great hotel to stay in when we and my family came to visit. We stayed at this hotel periodically for almost 4 years but this last experience we had last week was horrible. First we asked the house keeper to change the sheets on our beds because our son spit up in one of the beds. She made the beds and left the same dirty sheets on the bed and had the nerve to take a pillow with spit up on it off of the bed and put it on the other bed. And besides that me and my family got bitten by bed bugs while visiting. Never again will we stay at this hotel!!
Just needed to crash one night, the room was very clean, loved there was no carpet! The town is fun, we were there for the Polar Express which was only 10 minutes away, and they offered a shuttle from and to.
Most of my stay here was really good. Very clean; good amenities such as an in-room mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker, iron, and hair dryer; complimentary breakfast at the little restaurant at the front of the property; lots of good restaurants for lunch and dinner within just a few minutes drive; a restaurant right across the street called The Pit that had the best waffle I've ever eaten plus very friendly and helpful service; cable tv; good strong WiFi service; pet friendly. The drawbacks: Loud neighbors at the hotel; beds were too hard for my taste although my husband thought they were fine; Also I recommend calling the actual hotel you're looking to stay at to book your reservation, rather than online or on the toll free #. I booked on the toll free # and by the time we arrived for check in, they didn't have any more smoking rooms with a king size bed. Instead we got a room with 2 full size beds. It was ok but just a minor annoyance. Also this location does not have a pool or hot tub which would have been a great perk.
This motel is quite dated but ok in a pinch, they would do well do offer 2 queens rather than 2 doubles and do something about the musty smell when you enter the room. The small restaurant has w good breakfast.
Super friendly staff, quick check-in and the rooms were very clean and easy to settle in to. We had 4 different rooms, all were perfect. Beds were firm and comfortable and the pillows were very good. Sheets smelled clean and fresh, changed every day. Shower had plenty of hot water and great pressure. Overall, we spent 6 nights there and could not have had a better experience. The low cost was the icing on the cake. 4 King beds no smoking around $78.30 per night was a fantastic deal compared to the other area hotels. I didn't have to pay much for really excellent rooms.
Nice and spacious room. Although you can tell it is not a new construction it must have been updated. Everything was clean and neat. Was surprised to see about a dozen premium movie channels instead of the usual one at most hotels or motels. My wife was also most pleased with the cleanliness of the room. Great value for the dollar here.
Rene the works the 3 to 11 shift does everything she can to accommodate me the rooms are clean I expresly like Emma she make sure I have all my needs every day The rooms are clean The beds are comfortable and the breakfast is good at the little mini Denny's
Stopped here on way through to south tx. Lady on duty was very courteous and helpful. Room was very nice and clean. Bed comfortable. Pool and grounds well maintained. Price was good. Price included breakfast at restaurant next door. Very pleased. Will stop again as i pass through.
The office staff rene was more than Accommodating she did the best she could for the best rate in the best hotel the rooms were clean the house keeping staff was wonderful the breakfast was great and the prices were exceptional I will come here often Renee is the best she rocks and out of the park
Nice quite clean room ,comfortable bed , Plenty of hot water. Pool was clean . Guest laundry available. Good made to order free breakfast at a cafe on site. Will definitely stay here again. Convenient to shopping and easy to find.
We rarely stay at the Best Western or hotels you can access our door from the street. But it was fine. I will say the free breakfast at the little Cafe was very good! We paid extra for drinks and hash browns instead of grits...but good homecookin. The beds were comfy and the ladies at the front desk were very friendly.
This is my second time staying here this year. The first time, I found two roaches in the room. One small dead one in the air condition and one huge one in the bathroom. I complained, and thought this time will be better. But this time is even worse. This time, there was feaces on the wall in the bathroom, the bathroom floor was not swept, the bedroom floor looked cleaned, but when I mopped it with just water, it was almost black with dirt. And to top things up, there was a dead cricket in the fridge.
Comfortable beds, delicious breakfast, very clean rooms, easy check-in/out, friendly staff, like the shampoo/body wash dispensers in shower, vending/ice available, coin laundry, love the floors (no carpet), best price vs. quality in town!!
Check in took very long. Clerck could not find reservation at first Did not sleep much because of the train noise all night long. They could at least offer earplugs. The lady running the breakfast place was not very friendly. During breakfast a big cockroach ran over my foot! We will not return here.
Took a church group of 14 senior adult couples to visit Palestine area. Told at time of reservation (2 months before trip) that we would get church rate but received call back 2 weeks later that new owner would not honor the church rate. Told motel at time of reservation that we needed most rooms to be on bottom floor due to seniors on walkers and caned, but was told at check-in that due to high school event we could only have 5 bottom floor rooms. Check-in took extremely long time. Do not recommend this hotel if you are taking a large group.
When we had booked the room we notified that we had a 48lb pot bellied pig which is ESA animal. We had all the papers with this animal and they said it would be alright so we booked the room. We had drove 22hrs straight to get to Palestine and we get there the manager said she couldn't stay there saying that she would noisy for rest of the guest. I have you know she was very quiet. If they wasn't going to accept her they should had let us know when we booked the room and then we wouldn't have worried about it. But it was ok if she was a dog. We went motel 6 and saved some money and they took princess with no problem.
The Best Western in Palestine, Texas, was a great choice for us. The rate was very reasonable. The rooms were spacious and clean. The breakfast that was offered along with the room was fantastic. The people were friendly and very helpful!
I did not finish a job in Palestine so I needed to use some BW coupons and came here. I asked for the BEST room they have. King suite. I had my wife and daughter with me so when a panhandler approached my wife and daughter in the parking lot this was my first red flag. Then can into room. No carpet... ok with us because it's cleaner (or should be) then we noticed only two towels. My wife jumped in the shower and I was gonna walk to get towels and bedding for the pull out but first I needed a plug in for my phone. I pulled the night stand back and saw... trash, bugs hair and food. So I looked under the bed... same thing. I tool picture and a video which made red flag two. I walked to the front desk and again asked for money.... showed video to girl at desk... she was imbarresed and kept apologizing offering to move me and even come clean my room. I got towels and went back to room to discuss it with wife. We were tired, 16 hour day so we didn't want to leave... but when wife saw the dirty floor we pulled back cover and two hairs ON THE BED. Done Load up stuff and got a refund. We left and went to comfort suites up the road for about 32.00 more.......... ? This is a old property but I stay at 50 year old BWs and they are still nice condition. This property is NOT UP TO BE standards.
Our stay had a Super clean room! There were Limited choices for Breakfast from a voucher for the restaurant that was crowded, noisy, and tiny. Not what I expected from the Best Western Breakfast Buffet.
They lost my reservation!!! I have stayed at this Best Western twice a year for the past 5 years. I have never had a problem. The manager was always great. I made my reservation with a credit card to hold it. I called the hotel & not through the website. There is a big Dogwood Festival during this time. They have changed managers or owners, I'm not sure which. I arrived after driving 7 hours for them to say "I don't see a reservation for you." I don't have any rooms. All the reasonable hotels were sold out. So I had to stay in a "not so nice" hotel. Just a warning!
this is a regular place for us on our way to Canton Trade Days...love the place. Nothing negative to say...the breakfast next door at the diner really is very nice. Quiet nice clean motel with new wooden flooring and fresh bedding.
Beds were comfy, room was exceptionally clean. AC unit was very loud and be prepared for train noises all night. Desk clerk was courteous and helpful. KFC right next door and free breakfast in the diner adjacent.
Room met all my expectations. Staff was professional, room was clean and up to date. Heater worked well considering the outside temperature was in the teens. Price was right and the breakfast was good.
This is an excellent ent place to stay. The staff are very accommodating and the hotel as well as the grounds are kept very clean and neat. The separate building for breakfast is quite unique and interesting. The staff here are also very likeable and make you feel right at home.
I didn't feel like driving to Tyler to stay so we chose this one. I stayed here a couple years ago and did not like it, but this time, wow, it was so clean. No bad smells in the room due to nice new hardwood flooring. Very cold vending, nice fizzy soda. The breakfast is not as abundant as the usual buffet but it was served quickly. The only thing about this motel is the etiquette of travelers, which you can experience at any motel but gosh people...I know you are there for your free breakfast but please tip the waitress. You are sitting down and being served food. I was in shock at how many people exited their booths without leaving a tip to these waitress that come in early to serve food. Also, travelers, you are not the only ones there...some people are getting up early or perhaps doing business so please don't scream and yell and run and knock loudly. There is travel etiquette.
Room is comfortable, but no frills. Does have microwave and fridge. The best part of stay was the complimentary breakfast in building on property. Food was cooked to order from 4 different choices. Hotel is located on Hwy 79 S not far from downtown and antique stores. A KFC and a grill are nearby. All rooms have outside doors, so you might not want to stay here alone, but the rooms are back from the highway and not noisy.
Great location, and the service was great ,clean room and bathroom, excellent choice of Hotel for a family, and the Breakfast was amazing! !We would love to go back to see more of the town ,Great Place to stay.
We were there to say my son and his family , we always enjoy our stay at the best Western . And the staff it's always great and very friendly and always willing to help and answer any questions you may have
Have stated at this hotel several times. I work nights at one of the prisons and stay between shifts to sleep. The manager always has me a upstairs corner room. Staff is always friendly. Rooms are always clean.
Everything good, except that I do not want to go to a restaurant for breakfast. I want a buffet, so I can get something fast, and cheap. On some days, I limit my food choices, and the voucher for a nearby restaurant had no good options for me, and of course, I would need to leave a tip, increasing my expenses. I would still stay here again, because my needs are few, and it is reliable.
This is a great AFFORDABLE place to stay! Great price! Always nice, clean rooms! Courteous, helpful staff! AND You get a VOUCHER for a Delicious Real Breakfast at a cute local cafe that the hotel surrounds!!!
Easy access. The room was very clean. Everyone including other customers were extremely friendly. Love that they are pet friendly. That is why we love staying at Best Westerns! The location of our room must have been near maintenance/utility room as occasionally there was some noise, not so bad that we couldn't sleep. Our next fall foliage excursion if we stop for the night would be here. Just wish the trains didn't run every hour all night...
The room not only looked clean but smelled clean. A lot of hotels overlook the fact that their carpets stink. I appreciate the attention to detail. Also, free breakfast is served at restaurant and is very good. I will stay at this hotel again.
Shower and grab bars were very helpful. Presentation of items in the room were artistic. Room was very clean. Breakfast is provided at a nearby cafe. Food was good, however would prefer more the usual Best Western breakfast facility.
The Best Western in Palestine has clean rooms, very quite, quick check in, nice people working desk, great rates, beds are very comfortable, and the free breakfast could not be better. We highly recommend this Best Western.
As soon as I walk in they are very nice and excited to see you. I have great rates, clean rooms and very nice people working there. Plenty of parking, very quiet, they have satellite TV with all the channels wouldn't recommend this place to stay when in Palastine
This is an older hotel, but it is kept very clean. We stay here every time we go to Palestine. The beds are very comfortable. The staff is very helpful and friendly. The breakfast at the restaurant next-door is always good. We have stayed here six or seven times and have never had any kind of problem.
We returned here after a good experience here 2 years ago. The place has all been redecorated and is very well kept. It is the nicest non-new motel we have stayed in. The staff was super friendly and the room comfortable. Breakfast was a voucher at a regular restaurant on the property, a nice change from the normal continental breakfast. We will return.
Best Western Palestine rates a 10+ with us. Friendly, caring staff, clean facility. They went above and beyond during our time of need. Offered ideas for keeping grandkids busy with local parks and activities, kept updated on medical needs we experienced and were truly concerned about our well being. Great people to have shared a tough time.
Excellent place to stay , clean room , excellent customer service . every time i come to the town this is my place to go. they remember me by my name and greet and treat my like a very special person. Love love this place..!!
I highly recommend this Motel. Budget is great, Your going to fell like you paid top dollar for the service and attention you get from the staff as you do a high $$$$ Hotel. I can't explain the kindness and friendliness we received. Especially since we were evacuees from Hurricane Harvey.
We absolutely enjoyed our stay. Under horrible circumstances we had flee houston due to hurricane Harvey. But the manager, Jackie was absolutely amazing. Made us feel at home through this tragedy. I highly recommend this hotel and will be back.
1st, this is a motel, not a hotel. would not have let customer service book this had I known that. older property but rooms have been refurbished so not terrible. My issue was walking into the bathroom ( very very tiny bathroom ) at 2 in the morning to find a couple of big ol roaches crawling around... disgusting... Had it not been for the roaches i would say it was "okay" in a pinch.. but I'm not going back.
This hotel isn't fancy but it's clean, quiet, has comfy beds, and the staff is wonderful. The free breakfast at the restaurant saved our bacon a few days. All of the employees went out of their way to make sure we had a good visit.
Great people very helpful and very friendly! The rooms were clean, the pool was clean and very accessible. We were there to see a live play my grandson was in the people were very helpful in getting us to the program.
We stayed one night. The property was very quite. We were able to park by our door. Staff was professional and courteous. Very clean room. The air conditioning unit worked very well for the extreme temperature of Texas Weather.
The staff at the counter was great and helpful. I really enjoyed the cleaning staff asking if we were comfortable as well. The counter staff helped us with direction around town. Awesome!! The rooms were very clean and for me to say that is good because I am a very picky person.
Staff has great customer service Jacky is such a great person always with a smile. Room was very clean. Bed was super comfortable. Was offered a late check out due to checking in late. Restrooms were very clean
Our king room was about average for BW but the customer service experience was exceptional. We could tell that he really cared about our comfort. The made-to-order breakfast was a nice change from the expected hotel chain breakfasts.
Exceptionally clean, Nice pool, friendly staff, great price, delicious breakfast. We will stay there every time we are in Palestine, TX. The restaurant close to the motel offered several choices for breakfast and I opted for pancakes and bacon. They were delicious.
Beds were very comfortable, pillows were not flat. Fridge was replaced immediately when told the current one wasn't working good. Ice machine worked great also. Staff calls the room to make sure everything is great after you check in.
Best Western Palestine Inn is a older hotel but it's very nice... but different. The breakfast isn't served in the lobby, you walk across the parking lot to this cafe and it's all freshly cooked!! The pool sits in the middle of the parking lot, that's a little odd, all exterior facing rooms but the rooms are very nice... bathtub was small but for the age of the hotel it's understandable
Clean rooms and a terrific staff make this a great place to stay! We stay here every year and as long as it is run by the current folks, we will be back many more times! The staff went out of their way to welcome our group of 22 and provide for them. Extra towels, pool towels, and they even made us popcorn! Check in and check out was smooth even with multiple rooms.
I've stayed at this Hotel for the Old Pal Music Festival for 16 years now. The staff call me by name, noticed I had a new car. It's like going back to one's hometown for an annual visit. Rooms are comfortable and the little café has some nice choices for breakfast.
We were just passing through and stoped for the night. Great price for the room. Looks like an older hotel but it was clean and comfortable. No complaints. We would stay here again when passing through on a trip.
Staff is friendly and helpful. Best place to stay in the area! Rooms are clean, internet works great, breakfast is really good. After staying just two times, management always remembers me and greets me like an old friend.
The room price was the best of my whole week long trip!! Kind and helpful staff and a made to order breakfast!!! So much better than the same old do it yourself waffle or dry packaged pastries! Restaurant on property is so charming and made adjustments for diet within the included breakfast!!! Very nice small town touch instead of typical duplicate chain hotel experience. The room was nice with granite counter in bath and both HBO and Cinemax along with a wide variety of other channels available on the television. I will definitely stay there again! Don't change a thing!
Traveling for work and so happy this hotel is where my employer chose to put us up. Staff is great. They truly understand meaning of customer service. Free hot breakfast is awesome! No old coffee and stale danish here. Eggs, bacon, grits, the whole nine. Outstanding
The management at this hotel is excellent. We are repeat visitors, and they noticed that we accidentally booked a smoking room. They called us several days ahead of time to let us know our current reservation was a smoking room. When we realized our mistake, they were able to move us to a non-smoking room. What great proactive service!
We went to see the dogwood trees but they bloomed early this year so we did not see many blooms but enjoyed all the things the town offered. There were some very good places to eat and shop. We went to a place that had the best pie I have ever eaten. The visitor center was very helpful to us.
We have stayed at this Best Western twice, and both times have been wonderful. This time was better because we were upgraded to a suite for the same price, I guess because we are BW loyalty members. I was lucky to call a month early, because there were THREE festivals going on that weekend, and the hotel was booked solid. The location is very convenient to downtown. The king-size bed was more than comfortable, and the enormous TV looked new. The breakfast is a full, hot breakfast with four combinations to choose from, and choices within those. Not being very original, we had the eggs, bacon or sausage, choice of toast, and grits every morning. Palestine is a friendly place with nice, helpful people, and this hotel is no exception. We stayed there last year, and we will stay there again next year.
Excellent customer service, clean room, with hot breakfast in the morning . Great value for your money. I always stay at this place when i visit the town. Never had any problems and as usual i get the quality service that I am use to. The staff is really courteous and welcoming, and always available if i need their assistance .
My family stayed in two separate rooms here for one night to visit the Polar Express holiday attraction nearby. The owner/operator, Jacky, was extremely accommodating. It was obvious that he puts in quite an effort to ensure that his guests stay are enjoyable. Jacky freely offered information regarding both his hotel and accommodations as well as useful information about the city itself. Although this is a lower-priced facility, we found the hotel to be very clean and comfortable, with a much more pleasant staff than one would expect for such a good rate. Great job folks! We will see y'all again next year!
We had an awesome stay at this Best Western after going to ride The Polar Express in Palestine! Great room for "large" families because it sleeps 6 on 3 double beds, with a very clean room and great service. I actually thought it would be great if you were a crew of oil workers being able to bunk together to save money! The restaurant the next morning is the ole country restaurant you see in the movies, great people, everyone knows everyone, super nice and GREAT FOOD!
I spent a week here in October and had a nice stay. Jackie at the front desk was professional and friendly, he is just a really nice person to deal with. The room was clean and comfortable, i had no complaints whatsoever. They offer a free breakfast at a small restaurant in front of the hotel but i did not take advantage of this perk.
This is a nice hotel in a quaint small town. I love that I can park at my door. Breakfast is served at an adjacent small restaurant. the staff at the restaurant is polite, friendly & efficient. The Pancakes were good.
Staff were so friendly could not do enough for us. Clean rooms, everything was just perfect could not speak highly enough of this hotel. Were very informative in helping get around. Would definitely stay at this place again!!!
Another enjoyable stay at bestwestern palestine. No, this is not a 5 star hotel. What it is is a very clean, comfortable and enjoyable place to stay. Always friendly people at check-in and check-out. They truly try to make your stay enjoyable and as pleasant as possible. The breakfast at the hotel is also excellent. Home cooked meals that are exceptional. Each time I am staying in the Palestine area, I book my stay here and never consider any other place.
Checked in early on Friday without a problem. Employees were extremely helpful. Manager even visited our rooms befoe he gave us the keys to make sure they met his standards. The rooms, especially the bathrooms, were sparkling clean. The beds were very comfortable. The pool was also very clean. My grandson enjoyed the cookies located in the lobby. Free breakfast was not the usual buffet but a choice of four different full breakfasts in the cafe next door. The only thing I would improve about this extremely affordable accomodation is the coffee service in the lobby. They have powdered creamer instead of real half & half. Otherwise everything was perfect.
Out of the many motels in Palestine, we repeatedly choose the Best Western Palestine Inn whenever we visit. It is conveniently located on the loop, near restaurants, shopping & medical care. The recently renovated rooms are comfortable, offering all the amenities for a restful stay. The staff is always friendly & helpful. A full free breakfast is offered at an adjacent restaurant from 5:30-9:30 AM & a hospitality table is in the lobby throughout the day. There is, however, limited seating for so many guests, so the earlier you go, the more likely you'll be seated right away!
Property is extremely well maintained (including outdoor landscaping). Friendly & helpful staff. Convenient highway access. Pet friendly. If there is a negative, it is the location which is an older part of town which hasn't seen much renovation or new investment. I plan to return on my next opportunity.
This was a wonderful and friendly hotel. The bed was more of the comfortable ones I have experienced at a hotel. I did not have the breakfast, but I imagine it was great too! I highly recommend this hotel.
Stayed one night for wedding reception. Quick check in, clean room, very comfortable bed. Grounds were very well maintained. Even though this is an older hotel, it has been kept up very well and I would recommend this hotel highly.
This is a great place to stay in Palestine, TX if you're visiting or passing through. The staff was very friendly during my recent stay. The room was big, roomy, clean and had all of the comforts of home (coffee pot, refrigerator, microwave, iron/ironing board & hair dryer). Of course, there was a nice big flat-screen with the remote in a sanitizing sleeve. The hotel also offers a complimentary full-course breakfast at a little restaurant located next door to the building.
Very nice and clean motel. Traditional feel of an old motel with all of the current conveniences and modern expectations. Spacious room. Comfortable bed. Free breakfast at the diner in the parking lot.
This was my third stay in this property. The staff has always been helpful and friendly. I like the restaurant on the property - homestyle breakfast instead of the usual motel breakfast. The area is quiet and I felt safe staying there.
Love staying at this location...they have a restaurant next door that we love going to with a free voucher from the hotel we have never been disappointed when we stay here ..I do wish the air conditioner wasn't so loud but I guess that is what you get with a window unit.
3 week stay. Clean room. Good air conditioning for Texas summer. The Bird's Eye Restaurant free breakfast makes this stay great. Sit down table service with several free choices for breakfast and a full menu as well. When i go back to Palestine, this will gladly be my choice.
This hotel was wonderful for me and my family! We were traveling with dogs and the entire staff was so accomodating! There was space for our pups to roam and Jackie was just AWESOME when I had to let him know we could not take our dogs where we though they could go! The staff was INCREDIBLE, smiling, helpful and always said hello! Breakfast was great and tasted wonderful! This is a great place to stay with your four legged friends! It was clean/quiet/nice cool room and the pup space is just incredible! We will be staying here again! Thanks Jackie and staff for a wonderful stay!
My husband and I had a very pleasant stay at this Best Western! The room was very clean, nice, and smelled clean as well. Management even called us later and asked if everything was adequate in the room. The free breakfast we enjoyed was actually in a restaurant on/near the property. It was really good too. We definitely will stay here again when we visit Palestine.
Very clean room. Stayed in family room #117 with 3 beds and a loveseat. Wonderful for large family. Air conditioner was great, the only con (and not really a con) toilet/tub room small but that's the way they used to make them. That will not keep me from staying here every time I am in Palestine. Pool very clean, breakfast included at restaurant in parking lot. Hair dryer was not working and I forgot to tell management, hopefully he will see this. Drive right up to room, easier to unload luggage when you have an elderly Mother with you. Great stay will be back!!
loved the facility employees were great very disappointed in the breakfast at the resturant , had to chose from a minue that doesn't make alot of since. pancakes with bacon no eggs or starch. be prepared to pay for breakfast
We had a great stay at this motel. It is an older motel, but nicely updated. Everything was clean and showed care and attention. The desk clerk was very friendly and made us feel welcome. We were impressed when we got a follow-up call to our room to be sure everything was OK. We will stay here again. The breakfast is in a real restaurant, not just a continental breakfast in a spare room.
*****A Perfect Fit Nothing More Nothing Less***** Our check-in-date was in mid April, room # 109. Six weeks later it was time to say goodbye to the Property Manager "Jackie" and the Staff: John, Lavelle, Jaz, Jazmin, Maria, Amanda, Adela, Gion, Angela, and April. I am writing this review with great passion because in all our years of travel, we never found the perfect fit Until Now! * Affordability without compromising quality and comfort. * Our "Smoking" room was clean and fresh; no bugs, odors, rust, mildew, burns, nor broken goods. * A Motor-Hotel: we parked in front of our room (ground floor) * Exterior Corridors: to move around the property without getting rained on. * "DirecTV": having the 'Information Guide' is the difference between relaxation verses agitation. * Big Screen TV * Internet Access: fast and easy; at no extra charge. * Outdoor Swimming Pool (all the rooms have a poolside view) We are snow birds; so Jackie (with John's help) opened the pool a month earlier than the norm. * Quality Mattress and Pillows: sanitized bedding and towels, with blankets that allow your skin to breath. Extra pillows, towels, blankets, etc., were available upon request and Hassle Free. House keeping learned our routine and always kept us comfortable! * Guest Laundry was affordable and convenient. * Water Pressure (high) and plenty of hot water for showering. * Furniture was solid and up-to-date. * King bed, 2 night stands, full length mirror, fold out couch, end table, coffee table, desk, office chair, TV console with drawers and extra storage space. Plenty of leg room even after we moved in with 4 suit cases, multiple back packs, etc. * Frig, microwave, single cup coffee pot, iron/board, blow dryer. * Fluorescent lighting in the sink/ mirror area (separate from shower/ commode), and five more light sources throughout, with plenty of outlets for electronic devices. * A Breakfast House "Bird Cage" is right next door. * Exterior Property was in tip top shape; warm and inviting. * The Staff were well grounded individuals (professional): well groomed, helpful and always a friendly gesture in passing. * The Property Manager "Jackie" had a personality we were drawn to. His calm and uplifting presence spoke volumes. Intuitively, he brings out the best in people; he possesses a unique capacity for leadership. We said goodbye for now, knowing we will meet again soon. * Thank You each and every one, for making our stay so enjoyable. Sly and Vic
Our sincere thanks to the ownership of Best Western Palestine Inn for having supplied contour sheets that actually fit the mattress. So many hotels have the thick mattresses but old-style contour sheets that will not hook under the mattress. Halfway through the night, the sheets are loose and creeping all over the place. But, our stay at BW Palestine Inn was very pleasant and comfortable. The room was very clean and the breakfast at the restaurant next door was quite good. I had an issue with the operation of the tv but management was there immediately and resolved the problem We will definitely stay there again if we overnight in Palestine.
We ride the Texas State Railroad train fairly often. Sometimes it leaves from Palestine and some times Rusk. When our trip originates in Palestine, this is the hotel we stay at. We have never had a bad stay and the management has always been friendly and helpful. In fact, the person at the desk has more than once remembered us from past stays (granted, the boys are hard to forget). Will continue to stay when we visit.
The location is perfect for me. And this might not be important for some but for me because I stay for several days while visiting family, I like that they have the same satellite service that I have at home. Makes it easier to find the shows that I like to watch...lol... Just wish the prices could be cheaper, who doesn't when traveling...lol..
Very clean and the very friendly. I was dressed kind of weird (from a party before I got there) but they were still friendly and treated me well. Breakfast was very good for a free breakfast. Overall, I would stay again.
Always clean and comfortable. Breakfast really good also. Staff was excellent and helpfull. Stayed here several times in the past and have never been disappointed. Outside of hotel and the grounds are alway kept up and freshly painted. The pool and pool area are extremely clean and kept up. Will be back!
I enjoyed my stay at this BW Hotel. All of the staff made my stay welcoming and were very friendly, even the maintenance man asked if was doing okay. Everything was run very well. I would advice staying at this hotel as not only did the staff make me feel welcome but the overall atmosphere that i felt was very safe.
Excellent service from the moment we walked in the door! Good value, very clean! Biker friendly and accommodating when storm blew in and letting us get our bikes under cover! All staff in the morning were friendly and courteous.
This is a very nice hotel. Very clean and comfortable. They give you a breakfast voucher to the breakfast restaurant next door. Breakfast is awesome. Only thing I can see that could use improved is the truck parking. But a few happy customer here.
During a time when I unexpectedly needed a place to stay, the staff at the Best Western in Palestine Texas made sure I had what I needed. I felt comfortable and safe during a distressing time! I highly recommend Best Western Palestine Inn and the staff!
For 15 years this has been the official hotel for the Old Pal festival. The quality of service and amenities has remained consistent. The free breakfast provided for the hotel guests is decent and you can order from the mail menu if you wish.
Hotel was $20 cheaper than nearby hotels. Room was clean and comfortable. Free breakfast at walk to restaurant was very good. Only issue was water temp. of shower fluctuated. Management and staff were accommodating and friendly. Good value.
Our experience with Best Western Palestine Texas was awesome. Perfect in every way. Professional staff, excellent king bed...very very clean and delicious breakfast. Couldn't ask for more. Wonderful! Excellent! Highly recommend!
This is our third time to stay at this property. While it is not as large or modern as some of the Best Western properties, it is still a solid choice for overnight lodging. Our king room was clean and well appointed. It had a small refrigerator and microwave, and a large flat-screen TV. The bed was triple-sheeted with a duvet and the bathroom had standard amenities of soaps and shampoo. As in our other stays, we had a great nights sleep and enjoyed the breakfast at the Birds Nest Cafe on site. That is much better than some of the continental breakfasts provided by other hotels.
This is our second stay at this Best Western ... Very clean, very nice people and a HOT breakfast, eggs, pancakes next door in restaurant for FREE of your choice.... This time hubby got a smoking room, I don't smoke and I could not smell the cigarette smell... I just smelt clean orange scent.. Comfortable bed, pillows Happy couple here!! Highly recommend and we got a Senior discount :))
We booked the Best Western based on proximity to the Polar Express train. I was traveling with another mom and our 5 children under age 8. We arrived at the hotel, got our room keys and discovered that all of the rooms had exterior entrances. Our rooms (we had two next to each other) reeked of cigarettes and there were 3 dogs in the room below us that barked incessantly. It took all of 5 minutes for us to realize that we did NOT want to stay here for the night. We explained all of this to the manager, who became completely rude and aggressive. He agreed to refund us our money, then changed his mind and shoved the phone at me and told me to call BW customer service. All we wanted to do was get out of there, so we left. We found accommodations at the La Quinta in Palestine and it was like the Plaza Hotel in NY compared to the Best Western! It was spotless, newly remodeled, safe (no exterior entrances to guest rooms), the breakfast was great for the kids, it was like night and day. We were grateful to the La Quinta staff for getting us rooms at the very last minute (most hotels were booked). We will stay there from now on and tell all of our friends about our great experience! As for the Best Western, it should have been called the WORST Western. We have stayed at many hotels (including BW) over the years, and the Best Western Palestine was our worst experience ever.
We were pleasantly surprised with the comfort and cleanliness of the room for 2 adults and 2 small children. The owner was super helpful with recommending places to visit and dine at while in town. We not only got a great price for a room we got a voucher for a hot breakfast for all 4 of us at the Bird's Cage Cafe in front of the hotel. Many locals go there for breakfast and rightfully so. It was quite yummy. Move over continental breakfast...get a real home cooked meal when you stay at this hotel. Our 4 and 5 yr old gave the stay a huge thumbs up!
Would highly recommend this motel. We have stayed there a few times knowing we would get excellent service from all the staff. The rooms are very clean and all the staff we have been in contact with have been very helpful and friendly. Cannot find fault with anything.
We were in Palestine for a wedding. Through the reservation process on through the wedding the hotel and staff were very friendly and professional. I'm not a fan of the older style motels with access directly to the outside, but felt right at home here. I'd recommend this BW anytime. Thanks to Jackie and the others there!
I go to Palestine five times each year to perform on the Dogwood Jamboree. I stay at the best Western for several reasons. It is close to the civic center which is the site for the Jamboree. The staff is always friendly and accommodating to my needs. Plenty of TV channels and free wi-fi are a benefit. The rooms are always clean and comfortable. I don't remember ever being disappointed with this facility.
The best I can describe the hotel stay is a good value! Clean and rooms that don't offer much. I'm used to staying at Hilton, Holiday Inn, or Hotel Indigo. I know I'm not comparing apples to apples. Overall enjoyed the stay. 2 cons that stuck out the most. Bed was uncomfortable as in feeling springs.... Wifi barely had a signal where we were located.
The beds are truly full size beds, which not many hotels have anymore. So we had to get another room because an adult and a child could have slept in the bed but with the way my kids move around it would not have been a good nights sleep. The hotel staff were very nice and helped us find another room at the same rate we were paying. The breakfast is at an actual restaurant in the parking lot but it is very small and not able t handle the rush of guests as there are not many tables. The food was good though and service was fairly fast.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Nice TV with Satellite HBO and Cinemax. AC works well if you enjoy a cold room but a bit noisy which can make the TV difficult to hear. Train passing by occasional in the distance can be heard but not a deal-breaker. Hot breakfast served a restaurant on property. Limited meal options and printed on coupon. Additional items are extra. Unfortunately, our coupon was so faint, we couldn't read it so had to rely on the waitress to list our options. Would stay again if we visit Palestine again.
We were moving the in-laws out of the Crockett house. Even though we had a 30 minute drive, this hotel was the best choice we made. Hotels in Crockett are over priced and are not as nice as this Best Western. The staff were great, took the time to interact with every person as we checked in. Felt like family.
My husband and I had a great stay at this hotel. The bed was so comfortable, I slept like a baby. The whole staff of the hotel went out of their way to meet every need. This was a great stay. The food was fantastic. Great place to stay.
Was so nice to stay in a place that wasn't the modern, over-priced, stamped out, generic hotel. Or as I like to call it "staying in Gen-Erica." The Best Western Palestine was anything but run of the mill. Although it is a little old, it is also extremely clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Was my first visit to Palestine, TX and was there for a work assignment at the U-P. Am so happy that we chose this property. Clearly the ownership has a lot of pride in their holdings. It shows from the way they treat every customer, how clean the rooms are as well as the common areas, and how they make you feel like you are at home. Thank you Best Western Palestine!
Awesome stay will be back - the beds was relaxing- water pressure was on time next time just offer more breakfast choices the hotel clerk( Kelly) was just tooo nice bathroom very clean the air worked very good >
My wife and I spent one night in this hotel and loved it. We were greeted warmly and welcomed by the on duty staff. The room was very clean and comfortable and the parking area well illuminated. Our free breakfast was outstand and very filling. If we are ever in the Palestine area again, we will stay at this hotel.
When I arrived, I had been placed in an upstairs room. As soon as the hotel desk clerk realized I am was senior adult, they changed my room to downstairs. I really appreciated that! I can walk up stairs, but prefer not to. A very nice place to stay.
Clean, modern, comfortable accommodations. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Good location. Great, free and hot breakfast at small diner on same lot. Lots of parking. Whole area very neat. Easy to find on Hwy 84 and close to downtown and train station. Booked on-line and was quite surprised since you never know exactly what a hotel/motel will actually be like.
The beds were very comfortable. The room was clean. Everyone was very nice and the complimentary breakfast was wonderful. Everyone was very professional. I would recommend this hotel and I will stay here again!
My family and I stay here every time we visit Palestine. The hotel Manager always recognizes us, and the staff go out of their way to make sure we have anything we need. The rooms are clean and well-maintained. We used the outdoor pool with our kids during this visit, and it was also very clean and well-maintained. The hot breakfast at the little restaurant on the property is an added perk!
very friendly staff, very efficient check-in: when we arrived, having booked just about two hours earlier, the paperwork was all ready, and we were in our rooms within minutes. The hotel has a great location, within blocks of restaurants . They are also very friendly toward motorcyclists, e.g., with extra cleaning rags. The rooms were clean and updated. Wifi was pretty good. Home cooked breakfast is served at a restaurant and it was really delicious ,Breakfast at the restaurant comes free with hotel stay thought it was a great value , will be sending all my biker friends on your way.
I try to visit my son every other month, or so, at the prison in the area, and the people at this hotel property are extremely friendly and compassionate. They have been very helpful whenever any need has come up. The staff at the restaurant is also friendly and helpful.
Stayed in BW Palestine for night to watch a football game in a neighboring town. Nice room....clean. Lobby needed updated as did the room. Breakfast was served in a café located next to the hotel. Food was very good. Locations was quiet and grounds well kept.
