A wonderful hotel in a great location. It's immaculately clean and all of the staff are wonderfully welcoming. We enjoyed an absolutely faultless 3 night stay. The breakfast was delicious and our room was comfortable. Will definitely be back!
The hotel is nice and everything was pretty. My only issue was that the WiFi was weak which made it very difficult to check work emails on my phone etc. However, if you're there only for leisure, the hotel is great. It's easy to order a taxi from there back to the airport as well. The hotel is walking distance from a nice park and shops and food.
Possible the best hotel I've ever stayed in. It was quiet, clean, friendly and had the best breakfast buffet I've ever encountered. It was easy and quick to hop on a tram to the city centre. It couldn't have been better for me as a solo traveller.
I picked this hotel because it was the closest to where I had a meeting, but I lucked out - this place was just right: Comfortable, and with a lovely breakfast with a variety of offerings. (I saw a child carrying a plate of just meatballs and chocolate cereal - live your best life, little one!) Lovely staff, too.
Not exactly in the middle of "old Christiania" and downtown hustle and bustle. But fairly close to most things you want to see and do as a tourist and/or occasional visitor. Saga resides in Uranienborg, near the Uranienborg church, a bit up-hill from down town and in a primarily residential area. The Royal Castle Park is about a 5 minute walk away. And down town center another 5-10 minutes by foot. If you not fancy walking the tram and bus network is extensive in Oslo. No problem getting around. Usually I'm not so fond of "boutique" hotels, but Saga is in no way overdriven with peculiar decorations, weird interior or strange mishaps supposed to be "cool". It's elegant. It's quiet. It's relaxing. The official three star classification (if I got i right), is in my opinion clearly four stars. Slick public areas with reception/lounge made for gathering or casual meetings. Rooms very fine. We had an airy corner room where there was plenty of light. Bathroom of high standard. Mini bar (expensive of course - this is Norway) and fully satisfactory amenities. Not many hotel beds you can remember sleeping exceptionally well in - can you? Well, Saga's beds will remain in my memory. Extremely comfortable! Lovely pillows. Best sleep in a hotel I've had for years. Truly. And it is sooo quiet! Breakfast is downstairs in the basement. A bit gloomy environment, but that is well compensated for by the very good breakfast presented. Small scale and well maintained. A lot of choices. None will leave hungry. Staff kind and attentive. By Norwegian monetary standards, Saga is affordable. Highly recommended!
Beautiful hotel with high quality furnishing and amenities. Bed was excellent. Absolutely excellent breakfast with a wide selection of delicious food - many fresh made items. Helpful staff. A short walk to shopping and restaurants. A gem.
This is a great hotel, and VERY much so for the value. It's in a quite area, but close to so much. It's an easy walk to just about anything. The rooms are comfortable and very well kept. The best thing is the breakfast. Really good food and choices. We'll definitely keep this place in mind if we return to Oslo...which I hope we do.
This hotel should win an award for the friendliest and most helpful team sprinkled with a sense of humour. My urgent request for a taxi to the Munch Museum was met with the news that the museum was closed for the week (it wasn't). That made me chuckle. Rooms are nice and modern and the location is fabulous, just behind the Palace and also home to some wonderful real estate including a number of consulates.
It is located in a nice quiet area of Oslo just outside the Nasjonaltheatret district. Within walking distance of a lot of the local tourist attractions. The family room (apartment) we stayed in had two bathrooms which is very convenient if you have people doing skin care routines. Nespresso machines are very much appreciated. Luggage storage is available and very much appreciated since we arrived in the morning.
We did our home work and it paid off. Found this lovely hotel in a quiet suburb of Oslo. Not far from the centre of town number 11 tram a couple of stops. Staff so kind , the rooms spotless and so quiet and the breakfast delicious. We were given restaurant recommendations and information about Oslo. I highly recommend this hotel.
Loverly small Hotel - Very friendly Service - Always just happy to help. OLD FASHION CUSTOMER SERVICE is just normal for the staff at this hotel. Its a little walk outside of town, 15 Mins walk or a 5min scooter/bike ride. This is good value for an expensive city, room are not large but reasonable, and clean. breakfast does not have many options, however will fill you up.
I stayed with my husband and 1 year old daughter in a junior suite. The hotel is very nice, very well decorated, and in good condition. It's in a residential area so it was very quiet. Location was very good! Oslo is rather small and you everything is a walkable distance. Public transportation works perfectly and it's very easy to use with the app. We arrived earlier than the check in time and we had to wait for the room. It was available earlier than expected though. We arrived by car and there was parking slots available, however there are few (it also has a charging station available for 2 cars). We used the car and when we came back there were not more slots, we parked around the corner and payed using an app. There is a small staircase to get into the hotel, no ramp. Inside the hotel there's elevator. The room was spacious, the crib we requested was already there. There's a mini bar and nespresso machine available. There's a wardrobe and a sofa. Bathroom was also spacious. Breakfast was included. It was varied and it offered hot and cold meals. Some Norwegian specialties like brown cheese. They also had a high chair for babies available. Hotel staff were all very nice, welcoming and efficient. Overall it was a great experience.
Beautiful, small hotel in a quiet, nice residential area within close walking distance to some very good restaurants, grocery and liquor store, and tram stops. Very clean room. Windows were well made and could be opened for fresh air, and they shut out any outdoor noise (we stayed during the May 17 Constitution Day celebration and although there was some music from neighboring homes we didn't hear it once windows were closed). Very comfortable mattress- no sagging and not too hard. Staff were very friendly and well-trained, with good recommendations when we asked. Shower doors closed tight and kept water from running out on rest of floor. The variety and quality of breakfast foods and coffee were outstanding. Europeans and Scandinavians know how to put out a great breakfast!
I just stayed here for a week in April. The hotel is in a great location. Tons of restaurants and very convenient for public transportation. It is very close to the tourist area also. The room is like an apartment. You get a kitchen with everything you need including a full size refrigerator and microwave. There are many grocery stores nearby. Such as Bunn Pris and REMA 1000. Please be aware that this hotel Does Not serve breakfast. That's not a problem as you can easily make your own whenever you want!
I would recommend this hotel, the superior room was spaciuous, very clean and there was not any noise. Great and helpful people, amazing beds, a lovely hotel….Good breakfast. Excellent location, you can walk to the center. I hope to come back soon.
This is a lovely hotel to stay in Oslo. Slightly outside the centre but a nice walk through a safe area. Also very close to trams if you prefer. Very helpful and welcoming staff. Amazing breakfast, lots of lovely choice and some different items daily. Room was good size, well appointed and clean. Ensuite shower cubicle was small, but was the only downside. Very nice takeaway breakfast provided for early departure too.
Lovely hotel in a gracious neighborhood. Easy for walkers to walk to Karl Johan restaurants and shop. Also convenient to the wonderful buses. Breakfast was plentiful and gracious. Best of all, Marius and his staff went out of their way to be helpful, making suggestions and reservations, advising on transportation and being all-around pleasant and friendly. Now - dear Saga Hotel - please consider adding some hooks and shelves in the bathroom and why is the soap dispenser a foot from the sink so the soap drips all over? And, a hotel of your quality really should offer amenities like special lotion and conditioner and shampoo and the like. The all-purpose 'wash' in the shower is something I'd expect in a much lesser quality hotel. And please please put cream in the minibar for the use of us foolish Americans who cannot drink coffee, even from the sweet little pod coffee maker in the room, without it. And a half bottle of wine that cost less than $34 would be a wonderful surprise. Overall, however, we really enjoyed our stay and highly recommend the Saga.
If you want the feel of an Oslo neighborhood, then this is a great hotel. It is somewhat close to the University of Oslo, and a lot of students live in the neighborhood which gives it a lively feel, but also not overly touristic feel. It is a European hotel which means that the beds are made with bottom sheet and duvet cover (something I like) and most of the fellow travelers are not American (something I also like). The front desk was very helpful in buying the Oslo pass & the breakfast has a lot of what Norwegians eat for breakfast.
I stayed for several days, and I received a first floor room next to the elevator, and next to the reception area and the bar. It was very difficult to sleep at night because they kept playing ambiance music, and other guests sitting in the lobby were quite load. The idea of a bar on the back of the reception desk is ill fated for such a small place. The manager was not accommodating, and they did not want to close the door leading to the rooms. They offered me an alternative room on the upper floors which looked like reconverted attic. The so-called courtyard is a horrible patio overlooking under apartment buildings. The hotel is a regular BW hotel but overpriced. The professional pictures are quite deceiving. The hotel is not as nice as it looks. The breakfast takes place in claustrophobic basement. I don't understand why they decided to open a bar when clearly there is not enough space and the first floor rooms are quite close. I would not come back to this hotel due to the noisy room, and unfriendly staff. It is really overpriced for the quality of the rooms, the thin mattress, and the poor upkeep of the place. It is not a luxury hotel.
Great hotel, staff is amazing. Breakfast was great .. so much variety. Close to stores and restaurants, quiet at night. I stayed for 6 nights, it was partial business, partial leisure. You don't really have to stay in the busy area of Oslo, everything was walking distance. Close to the Royal Palace, Vigeland Park and other popular places.
Its a very good and peaceful place. I enjoyed the breakfast as well. Very helpful staff. You can walk for 35 min from Oslo Central station and enjoy great views of national theater and of course the Palace and the garden.
My husband and I just took an epic Scandinavian vacation. It started in Oslo, and though we had been there once before, I decided I wanted to try a different hotel in another part of town. We chose the Saga Hotel Oslo. We were warmly greeted on an unusually warm Oslo evening, and given a corner room on the third floor. The room was big enough, but it lacked air conditioning. Most of the time in Oslo, this is not a big deal. However, it would have been useful to have it during our two night stay, as it was pretty warm when we visited. We had to choose between leaving the window open at night for cool air flow and listening to the partying neighbors across the street, or closing the window for quiet, but sweating a bit. We ended up closing the window and opening it in the wee hours of the morning. The staff was pleasant and helpful, and we enjoyed the one breakfast we had. I especially liked the carrot cake at breakfast. It was delicious. The bathroom was very small and quite basic, with shower doors that collapse into the shower stall and only a communal toiletry mounted on the wall-- combo shower gel and shampoo. But the hotel offers easy cab orders and laundry service, and there is even a bar area in the lobby. The hotel is in a residential area, but there are also restaurants and shops nearby. We were able to walk to Akers Brygge with no problems. All in all, it was a pretty good stay. But if I visited again, I would go when the weather is cooler.
The Saga was the perfect choice for our visit to Oslo. Our room was comfortable, clean, attractive, and quiet. The hotel staff was very nice and helpful. Breakfast is included and is wonderful. Perhaps the best thing about the Saga is the location. It is in a much calmer setting than the city center, but easily accessible to everything. We walked to most places. It is a two block walk to access Oslo's fantastic transit system. Great connection to local attractions and the airport.
The hotel is clean and in a quiet neighbourhood. It's about a 10-12 minute walk from the centre so not long. It's within easy reach of shops and restaurants. Great breakfast and very friendly staff. I would stay again and definitely recommend.
Me, my husband and our two year old stayed at this hotel and I would gladly recommend it for anybody. The junior suite was really spacious so it was a perfect place for our son to play, as well for us adults to relax. :) Great and helpful staff, amazing beds, beautiful interior and a very nice breakfast! We are going to stay here anytime we are in Oslo and in need of a hotel. :)
Lovely hotel. I enjoyed my stay there. Night person on check out was really friendly and helpful Room and hotel was clean Breakfast was also nice and lots of choices to choose from I would definitely recommend this hotel
Great location. Easy to walk to the Royal Palace, Bogstadveien shopping area, Vigeland Park. Only challenging thing was the icy roads. Breakfast was excellent! Our most memorable memory from your hotel is a Ms Guro, one of your reception staff. She is very warm and friendly. Always greeted us with a cheery smile and helpful with my questions about places to go. She is an asset to your hotel.
As a former frequent business traveler I`ve seen and stayed at all different hotels and concept in Norway. Saga is by far the most enjoyable one. Both the hotel and apartments are extremely modern and has a very cozy wibe to them. The location is absolutely outstanding, there are parking slots which is seldom to come by in Oslo. The neighbourhood is as quiet as a rural community, subway to every direction is a 10 min walk down probably Oslo S most beautiful street. The castle, the marina Aker brygge, Karl johan (shopping street), Holmenkollen, Frognerparken (sculpture park) and aqualand in the summer are all typical places to visit when traveling to Oslo, and from SAGA everything is within walking distance.
As others noted, this hotel is in a neighborhood and not centrally located. One would think this would mean it was quiet...it was not. There was still plenty of traffic noise from the streets below, despite being on the top (4th) floor of the hotel. You can access the city centre via trams and a decent walk up some hills, cumbersome with luggage. Check-in was fine. My Best Western rewards membership nor Platinum status was never recognized once during the stay...it is almost like this hotel isn't affiliated with the chain at all. I was assigned a room at the top floor, which was a loft. I had to bend over most of the time in the hotel room as it was a "loft" with very low ceilings. The room was just a single bed, which I booked...no upgrade whatsoever despite my status. The bed was like one would give a kid, and was tough to sleep on for this 6 feet plus American. The temperature control in the room was on a knob on the radiator...no AC. You could open the (one) window in the room, which was nice, but then really could hear the neighboring street noise below. The floors were wooden. The shower was the traditional European hose style shower. There were NO AMENITIES in the bathroom, other than one dispenser that pumps "shampoo/body wash" all in one. No lotion, no conditioner, nothing. The breakfast spread was nice, but you eat in a bunker in the basement of the hotel. There was, simply put, nothing "premier collection" about this hotel. Avoid at all costs.
Lovely hotel in a neighborhood location. Very easy to walk downtown and to nearby supermarkets and restaurants. Clean large rooms with nice breakfast buffet. Historic property so there can be some noise between floors and adjacent rooms.
Enjoyed our 2 night stay at this hotel, interesting location outside the central area but easy to travel about on the tram or train. Comfortable room, great beds and pillows, very clean. Lovely breakfast, lots of choice.
Location, location, location! This delightful boutique hotel in the beautiful, upscale , quiet Frogen neighborhood was one of the highlights of our stay in Oslo. The hotel staff was very helpful; the room was clean with a comfortable bed; and the breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Oslo is such a walkable city , so we were able to walk to everything we wanted to do and see even though we were not in central Oslo.
I had a very positive experience staying at Saga Hotel. Service and the staff was very helpful, clean and nice rooms, good breakfast buffet and the location is perfect close to Bogstadveien, but still in a quiet street. I will definitely stay here the next time I visit Oslo!
Everything was great. I arrived early as I had morning flight, asked if I could work from the lobby. To my surprise the receptionist told me that I can check in immediately. The room was cozy, spotlessly clean and for me the highlight is underfloor heating in the bathroom. Very good choice for breakfast buffet, the hot food was different each day. Since we had to leave hotel early in the morning we were offered packed breakfast to take away. Location of the hotel is great within 15 minutes walk you can reach Oslo center ( National Theatre station having trains to/from the airport and all the metro lines, a few trams and busses), Royal Palace and Vigeland Park. The nearest tram (number 11) is less than 5 minutes walk from the hotel. There are plenty of pubs and restaurants within 10-15 minutes walk from the hotel. I'm happy to recommend the hotel, and from now on it's my first choice in Oslo.
We had a wonderful stay here. Lovely, cosy room with really comfortable bed. Welcoming and helpful staff. Excellent breakfast with something for everyone. Great location with free parking included. We would definitely stay here again next time we are in Oslo!
We were in a pinch and needed a room due to change in travel plans. Many hotels booked and over priced. Reached into my Best Western app and made reservations. Contacted hotel and they helped with us get additional days needed.
Check out these two photos of our room. Entering the room was was an amazing experience to see the rose petals on our bed (No we're not on honeymoon - have been married a long time!!!!) so this was a lovely lovey touch. Room is spacious, clean and coffee machine works superbly. Staff on reception friendly and very helpful. Quiet with off-street parking. Highly recommended
The hotel was clean and calm, perfect for us with kids. One from the reception staff were especially helpful, he answered all our questions and showed us evertything we needed! All of the hotell staff were friendly, helpful and kind. Great location near the castle. We stayed at both Saga hotel Oslo and the Saga hotel apartments and the apartmens were also clean and nice snd with a good location. We would strongly recommend these hotels.
+ The hotel is situated between the Kings castle and Vigelands/Frognerparken in quiet surroundings. Fairly clean room. - Fell asleep to party music, woke up to some noisy sex. There seems to be really bad sound isolation. Tried to turn on the TV, but it didn't work. Bed was very cheap and uncomfortable. I was supposed to have a double bed with a view, but it was a single bed (1,20m though) in a tiny room with a view into the narrow backyard, right on the delivery entrance and a security camera in front of the small window. Bad lighting and the small window made the room very dark. Impossible to read or write at the desk. The breakfast delivered to my room was what you usually expect on an airplane, with the cheese on the tiny sandwich already hard around the edges. I got charged 150NOK more than the booking price, without any explanation. Toilet and sink are very close, water temperature in the shower varies. Room temperature more on the chilly side (and I'm from arctic Norway). Sadly the worst hotel experience I've had so far, and I travel a lot.
stayed in a hostel type room, was great ,clean bed clean shower with power points next to the bed etc , close to town centre , friendly staff and good value for money , trip advisor making me do the 200 character thing again
Nice and clean hotel in a really nice part of town. Coffee shops and restaurants nearby. I could easily stroll to a nice tapas bar just 5 minutes away. Shops were also just around the corner and communication by public transport made my business trip super efficient. A big minus for me that the breakfast was served from 07:00 as I usually try to maximize my workdays while traveling in business.
Welcoming staff interested about your stay. The hotel is beautiful. Stunning. So well designed - everything - it's really one of the most beautiful hotels I've been to. All staff were polite, helpful, attentive and friendly.
