Description

The Sure Hotel by Best Western Nora Stadshotell was built in 1878. A cozy city hotel with a charming atmosphere has both literary murder and culinary delights committed since the late 1800s. The author Maria Lang was often in the hotel. The premium room only has skylights.

"A disappointment considering the pricetag."
Jan A, 28 Septembre 2024

Very small room with a minimalistic bathroom. The windows were covered with plastic and there was a scaffolding outside so the view was non existent and the windows were not possible to open. Considering previous reviews and the price level I it was not up to my expectations. The breakfast wasn't anything special with a strange assortment.

"Be very careful when booking this hotel through the Best Western portal !!"
A_tourist_from_North, 14 Juin 2019

I booked a room at Nora Stadshotell via the Best Western booking portal. Something went wrong along the way in the process and I ended up with the Message "Hjem > Booking Path > Proxy" (in English: Home > Booking Path > Proxy"). I did never get any email confirmation or any confirmation number in the screen and therefore thought this booking had not been confirmed and was not valid. I therefore instead booked a room on another hotel in a nearby town. I was very surprised when I found out that the booking had still been valid in some way inside their own booking system and they therefore charged me the full amount of about 100 euro!! I had an email conversation with the hotel where I explained what had happened and they said they would send this booking problem to the Best Western booking portal for investigation. But then they still charged my card. So be VERY CAREFUL when booking the Nora Stadshotell through the Best Western portal if you get the proxy message. You are advised to call the hotel immediately to check if the booking is ok or not! Myself I will of course not stay at Nora Stadshotell in the future so they lost me as a (new) customer in the future!

"Lunch"
rogz2013, 23 Avril 2019

We had a lunch here and it was a very busy buffe lunch. You could chose between chicken with potatoe. The chicken tasted like a very cheap tasted danish frozen version and was uneatable. Unfortunately the other option breaded baltic herring with mashed potatoes was even worse. I am sorry to say that we found it totally uneatable. So 100kr/person was a waist of money. It is not a place to visit.

"old hotel too tired to get the old charm it should show the guests"
290th, 07 Août 2018

I had prebooked for rwo nights and this is the only hotel in Nora. The hotel is very tired and need a fully redecoration The carpets are worn out years ago. But the room I had was newly decorated and very clean. The breakfast was horrible. Poor selection ( specially for me as a vegetarian) . There was something made of eggs- scramled eggs or what? Tasted like velvet in oliv oil - inedible. For my beakfast was sliced cheece, cucumber and sliced tmatoes with bread. None from the staff to overlook if any of the trays need to be refilled. I had my lunch and dinner elsewhere. I seems to be that the hotel is understaffed

"Unreliable"
Kelley_Kiki, 30 Juillet 2018

I had a reservation made in advance and paid in full for check in on a Sunday. When we arrived, we were shocked to find out that the hotel is closed on Sunday. CLOSED. What?! There are two numbers listed on the door, no one answered either number after several calls. A nice shop owner tried to help us as well by calling, but still no answer. Luckily we found a fantastic hotel around the corner. We traveled hours to get here so you can imagine the disappointment and frustration of finding out that you don't actually have a room. I definitely don't recommend and will be posting my reviews across all travel sites that I use so that this doesn't happen again to anyone else.

"Brilliant cheap lunches"

We were in this lovely little town and passing the hotel in the main square and were quite amazed to see that for 100 SEK they were offering a traditional Swedish main meal with side salad, a drink, and coffee or tea and biscuits to finish off. There were two menu options each day and we decided to try it out and both chose the kalpudding with cream sauce and fresh lingonberries. It was self service and there didn't seem to be any limit except they wanted you to only take one glass of beer. It was a really tasty too. It seemed like a 'pensioners lunch' idea and we left happy and satisfied. The food was basic but very good and they replenished the dishes regularly.

"Cute town, hotel clean but getting a little tired."
Martin A, 25 Août 2017

I stayed here for 2 periods for business in August 2017. The hotel is located right in the middle of town so it is a very short walk to the shop/pub/lake/bakery. My first room was really small, the second was much larger and much better. Both rooms were clean and well maintained despite the age of the hotel. The wifi worked out in both. Breakfast was adequate with cereal, cold meats, bread and pastries, bacon and scrambled eggs. Cooked breakfast is not available. The hotel is old, and that is part of it's charm, but some features were getting old and tired (eg the lift and the stairwell). The staff were efficient but I wouldn't describe them as friendly. They did laundry for me during my stay. There is a restaurant/bar as part of the hotel, we ate here a few times and the food was good but pricey compared to the other (few) places in Nora. Nora itself is a charming little town and I really enjoyed my visit.

"Totally average."
Christopher B, 30 Juin 2015

Stayed here as part of a package deal. We had two rooms which turned out to be in different price ranges. One was larger, more recently refurbished, and the other was more worn with cracked tiles in the bathroom. The rooms felt clean and the beds were fine. Slightly annoyed with there not being any blinds so the room stays as light as outside. The included breakfast was dull.
